The Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) Masvingo depot has been hit by accusations of nepotism and sex scandals involving managers and supervisors, according to documents in the hands of The Mirror.
The Mirror has in its hands grievance documents dated June 17, 2022, written to management by the workers’ committee which include corruption, nepotism, incompetency and sexual abuse of female conductors by supervisors and managers.
The workers’ committee chairperson, Mandebvu Mutikizizi, confirmed the workers’ grievances to The Mirror and said that they have since been sent to them Division Operations Manager (DOM), Tinei Rwasoka.
Key among the grievances is that some managers are sleeping with female conductors in exchange for job security. Conductors at ZUPCO are employed temporarily. The grievances, in particular, cite one manager who is said to have slept with almost every female conductor at the depot.
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Miners Federation President, Henrietta Rushwaya has denied allegations that she tried to bribe an X-Ray machine operator at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in 2020 when she was caught trying to smuggle 6kgs of purified gold to Dubai.
ZimLive reports that Rushwaya’s lawyers applied for discharge before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye, arguing that Rushwaya was the victim of a “malicious arrest.”
Rushwaya was detained at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International airport on October 26, 2020, just before boarding a plane to Dubai with a handbag concealing 6kg of gold worth US$333 000 at the time.
She told airport staff she had picked up the wrong handbag when she raced to the airport, claiming to have identical handbags.
The National Prosecuting Authority alleges that the former Zimbabwe Football Association CEO offered a US$5 000 bribe to Owen Sibanda, who was operating the X-Ray machine after it detected the gold.
Rushwaya’s lawyer Peter Patisani said she would have to be dumb to put a bag through an X-Ray machine in the full knowledge that it had gold. The lawyer said:
This was a malicious arrest. She asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe officials to accompany her home to collect the right bag which she intended to travel with, and they did not take up her offer.
Patisani said Sibanda testified that Rushwaya had offered him “5 000” but did not mention if this was currency.
The lawyer said his client cannot be convicted when the court is not even aware of what Sibanda was referring to when he mentioned the number “5 000”. Patisani added:
The state doesn’t know what was offered. Are we talking about 5,000 stones or 5,000 cents, which remains an essential part of the alleged offence?
Rushwaya also said she could not have bribed Sibanda and his colleague Dzikamai Paradza because they were “junior”.
Prosecutor Netsai Mushayabasa said they had proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. The “5 000” mentioned by Sibanda was United States dollars, the prosecutor insisted.
The prosecution rested on the first day of the trial.
Opposition lawmaker Job Sikhala has been denied bail on his latest charge of defeating the course of justice.
The latest bail ruling comes as it was confirmed that an international law firm based in the United States and the United Kingdom which specialises in high profile international human rights cases would join his legal team.
Sikhala is accused of posting a video aimed at disturbing investigations into the murder of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) slain activist, Moreblessing Ali.
He was denied bail on another charge of inciting public violence, a charge which is based on the same video.
His lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa said they expected the outcome and only approached the magistrates court as a formality.
“As you probably heard the magistrate, as was expected, refused to give him bail and naturally we will be going to the High Court.
“We knew he was not going to get bail because in these cases we now know for a fact that nobody gets bail in the magistrates court. We come for the purpose of creating the record then we appeal at the high court and that is what we will be doing,” said Mtetwa.
Sikhala denies the allegations, arguing that he never posted the alleged video on the internet.
Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka handed down the ruling on behalf of magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
The court agreed that the investigating officer in the case did not investigate who posted the video but ruled that this does not mean that there was no evidence against Sikhala.
“The IO (investigating officer) said they are yet to find who posted the video and they also said there are eye witnesses to testify that indeed the accused uttered the alleged words,” said the magistrate.
He added, “The fact that the IO said that they are still investigating does not mean that the State failed to demonstrate their case beyond reasonable doubt.”
The magistrate also said Sikhala has already violated a High Court bail order which weighs against him.
Sikhala is accused of posting a video aimed at disturbing investigations into the murder of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) slain activist, Moreblessing Ali.
He was denied bail on another charge of inciting public violence, a charge which is based on the same video.
Ruling in the trial of AMH journalists Blessed Mhlanga and Chengeto Chidi which had been set for 26 July 2022 has been postponed to 4 August 2022.
Mhlanga and Chidi are being charged for allegedly contravening Section 25 (a) as read with Section 30 of Statutory Instrument 21/2005 which prohibits taking of photographs within a polling station. The alternative charge is disorderly conduct in a polling station as defined in Section 89 of the Electoral Act.
A Chipinge man who stopped a 14-year-old girl on her way to school and took her to a lodge where they agreed to have sex has been slapped with four years in jail.
Ephraim Mutambara 32 of 3259 ZBS Gaza, Chipinge pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court on Monday but was however found guilty by Chipinge Magistrate Frenklin Mkwananzi.
Franklin will however serve an effective three years after 12 months were suspended from the sentence. The charge was having sexual intercourse with a young person.
Mkwananzi ruled that there was enough evidence linking Mutambara to the crime. He also said that Mutambara had sexual intercourse with the minor knowing she was under the age of 16.
Prosecutor Edmore Mahlanganise said Mutambara and the minor were lovers.
On May 7, at 7am, Mutambara phoned the minor who is a Form 2 pupil at Gaza High School and asked her whereabouts. The minor told him that she was going to school. Mutambara then met her at Metro Peech in town and took her to Travers (Manica) Lodge where they agreed to have sex once.
In May, at 5pm at Mutambara lured the minor as she came from school to number 4360 Makwakwama building in Gaza. They entered a room where again they had sex.
On May 22, the minor’s sister proceeded to Mutambara’s workshop and advised him to stay away from the minor and he ignored. Mutambara again had sex with the pupil as she came back from school at Mukwakwami Building.
The matter came to light when the minor told her sister that she has been having sexual intercourse with Mutambara. The matter was reported to Chipinge Urban Police leading to Mutambara’s arrest.

Mambanje said Sikhala was not a proper candidate to be released on bond.
In his ruling read on his behalf by magistrate Mrs Feresi Chakanyuka, the court noted that Sikhala violated a High Court order that bars him from addressing gatherings or posting videos on social media that are likely to incite the public to cause violence.
Sikhala is charged with obstructing the course of justice after he allegedly incited the public to cause violence at the funeral wake of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) has advised stakeholders and practitioners in the cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) and the general public that NAMA legend Mr. Cont Mhlanga has been admitted to a health care facility in Bulawayo.
Cont Mdladla Mhlanga is a Zimbabwean playwright, actor and theatre director who also founded the Amakhosi Theatre Productions company in 1982.
Rodney Ruwende, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Communication and Marketing Manager says Mhlanga has been under constant and close medical supervision since Friday 22 July and is currently stable and responding well to treatment. In a statement published by Earground, Ruwende said:
The Mhlanga family is requesting members of the public to remain hopeful and keep him and the family in their prayers.
While, understandably, as international art and cultural icon Cont’s health condition raises a lot of interest, however, members of the public are encouraged to resist the temptation of raising unwarranted alarm over his health condition.
The Family spokesperson Miss Gcina Mhlanga, Fairtalk Communications and the NACZ will from now on be responsible for communicating any relevant information related to Mr. Mhlanga’s illness.
All other statements emanating from sources other than the ones mentioned above should not be regarded as the official position of the family or his close associates.
Meanwhile, the NACZ would like to urge players in the sector and the public to exercise restraint and desist from communicating private family matters on public platforms.
The NACZ implores practitioners not to abuse the social media space to communicate false and unverified information following the events of the past two days where players have been communicating about the health of NAMA legend Cont Mhlanga.
Members of the public should disregard any messages currently circulating on social media purporting to be representing his family and seeking financial assistance for his medical treatment.
The Mhlanga family is grateful for the words of encouragement and prayers and appreciates the love that has been shown by practitioners in the CCIs and members of the public during this period.
Cont Mhlanga established Amakhosi Cultural Center in 1982. The Center started off as a youth karate club and turned semi-professional in 1988. It created the first pilot center, the Amakhosi Performing Arts Workshop (APAW), which produced and toured with theater plays written and directed by Mhlanga.
In 1995 Amakhosi established the country’s first privately owned cultural center located within the boundaries of the townships, now popularly known as the Township Square Cultural Center. – Pindula News
By-Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini has parted ways with the controversial Operation Dudula movement over a difference of opinion on foreign nationals in South Africa.
The Times Live cites Dlamini saying he will now focus on his activities with Soweto Parliament and its programmes.
The split comes after the two organisations could not see eye to eye on immigration.
The difference of opinion stems from Operation Dudula wanting all foreigners to leave SA, while Soweto Parliament only wants illegal foreigners out.
In a joint statement, the organisations said no way forward could be found and they had agreed to part ways and work independently. Read the statement:
The two organisations have resolved to deal with these issues independently (under different brands) but in a complementary manner.
Most importantly, based on the workload of these community-based operations and campaigns, the parties have agreed to allow Nhlanhla Lux to focus exclusively on Soweto Parliament and its programmes.
Operation Dudula’s stance has been criticised by many, including politicians Julius Malema and Mmusi Maimane.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Malema told Podcast and Chill Dlamini that Operation Dudula’s stance was rooted in self-hate. He said:
Black people are not loved all over the world. And for a black person to hate another black person who is hated all over the world, what is that?
Criminals, let’s deal with them. I have no time for thugs. I do not tolerate thugs, but I am not going to beat up a person because he is dark and ugly in my eyes.
One SA Movement leader Maimane said the operation was a “dangerous distraction that solves nothing”. He said:
Operation Dudula is hating on fellow Africans and I have a problem with that.
He also criticised Dlamini saying he was not a revolutionary, “not a visionary, and your whole brand is built on hate. Your operation is a dangerous distraction that solves nothing.”
Previously, ANC Veterans’ League president Snuki Zikalala said Operation Dudula was “dangerous” and suggested it was exploiting the unemployed.
He said protesters must go to school and get skills instead of harassing foreign nationals.
“The matter is still under investigation and we will give you further information at a later stage,” he said. A source close to the investigations said Chamunorwa was found with 108 golf t-shirts branded with CCC political messages and logos. The value of the goods is yet to be ascertained.
“During interrogation, the driver claimed he was given the political regalia by one man identified only as Magumise. “The consignment was destined for Chivi under Masvingo province. However, upon getting to the border, the driver didn’t declare the goods as per standard practice,” said a security official.
MASVINGO – Helen McGhie Primary School head Sheila Deve, has appeared before a Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education disciplinary committee, for allegedly lifting an Early Childhood Development (ECD) teacher’s dress exposing her undergarments in public.
This allegedly happened during a scuffle between the two at the school last year.
The hearing took place at the Better Schools Programme Zimbabwe (BSPZ) Building in Mucheke on Tuesday last week.
Efforts to get a comment from Deve or her lawyer Martin Mureri of Matutu Mureri Legal Practitioners were futile.
Efforts to get a comment from Ishmael Chigaba, the District Schools Inspector, were futile as his phone was unreachable.
The Mirror could not immediately establish why the hearing took place after almost a year.
It is alleged that in October 2021, Deve got into an argument with an ECD teacher and allegedly pushed and shoved her and then lifted her dress exposing her undergarments in front of toddlers.
In the second incident, Deve confronted another teacher, and after several minutes of a heated altercation, Deve allegedly started shoving and pulling the teacher until other members of staff intervened.
A team of inspectors from Chigaba’s office was dispatched to the school and carried out investigations. https://masvingomirror.com
Ngezi Platinum Stars have named an interim coach to replace Benjani Mwaruwari who was relieved of his duties on Monday.

Chiragwi will be assisted by Klifton Kadulira.
The statement reads: “Ngezi Platinum Stars Football Club would like to inform all its stakeholders that the Club has parted ways with head coach Benjani Mwaruwari by mutual agreement.
“This was Benjani’s first coaching assignment and both the club and the coach have agreed that it did not deliver the expected results hence the decision to seperate was in the best interest of the club.”

Lupane State University (LSU) has reportedly barred students from writing examinations over fee arrears.
Students who spoke on condition of anonymity told Southern Eye that the institution usually insists on full payment of fees before examinations.
“This is not the first time the university has threatened to bar students from writing exams due to non-payment of fees. They have said it before without taking action, but this time they made things tough for the students by making a follow-up on them. Those who failed to clear the arrears were barred from exam rooms,” a student said.
LSU Students Representative Council member Kuda Mnangagwa declined to comment on the matter, but university spokesperson Zwelithini Dlamini said the students had to clear their outstanding fees before starting another semester.
“The correct position is that the university is only barring unregistered students from writing the examinations. Students register at the beginning of the semester, which means they should have cleared fees for the previous semester,” he said. -Newsday

State Media – CCC legislator Job Sikhala yesterday lost his latest bail bid after the court dismissed his application saying he was not a proper candidate to be released on bond because of his previous conduct including disregarding bail conditions imposed by the High Court on another charge.
Sikhala is accused of posting a video on social media where he made utterances likely to hinder police investigations into the killing of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime.
In a ruling read on his behalf by regional magistrate Mrs Feresi Chakanyuka, regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje noted that Sikhala disregarded the bail condition set by the High Court. Sikhala’s lawyers led by Ms Beatrice Mtetwa did not dispute that there was an existing order which barred Sikhala from addressing public gatherings and uttering words that are likely to incite the public to commit violence.
The High Court order also barred Sikhala from posting videos on social media sites that are likely to incite public violence.
“The court is convinced that there is a similar case against accused. He was granted bail by High Court and it is common cause that he was arrested on allegations of inciting public violence,” the magistrate said.
That bail order remained extant.
Mr Mambanje said the earlier and separate charge Sikhala is facing is related to the current charge he is charged with.
Sikhala had applied for bail saying he never posted the alleged videos on social media and also doubted the existence of these videos. He argued that in the absence of the videos, the State’s case was weak.
Mr Tafara Chirambira, prosecuting, had opposed the granting of bail to Sikhala saying he was likely to re-offend since he once breached a bail condition set by the High Court, which barred him from sending such videos.
He argued that the court was supposed to look into such conduct before granting Sikhala bail. “The court is allowed to deny bail where the accused has propensity to commit more offences,” Mr Chirambira said.
The State also led evidence from Detective Hardwork Muziti who told the court that Sikhala was likely to evade trial once granted bail.
He said Sikhala was also likely to interfere with investigations since police were yet to record statements from two witnesses and investigators were yet to receive a report from the police Cybercrime Unit.
The State opposed to granting of his bail after it had successfully placed him on remand when Mr Mambanje ruled that the State placed before the court all requisites to place him on remand in its application.
In its application, The State said that there was reasonable suspicion that Sikhala committed the offence and that the charges were recognisable at law.
Sikhala had challenged placement on remand arguing that there was an unnecessary splitting of charges as he was on remand on similar charges stemming from the same incident.
Sikhala is expected back in court on August 10 for his routine remand.- State Media
Veteran author, playwright, actor and director Cont Mhlanga was last Friday hospitalised and is under close medical supervision, the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) revealed yesterday.
His medical condition was not disclosed.

Ruwende asked the public to keep Mhlanga in their thoughts and prayers.
“The Mhlanga family is requesting members of the public to remain hopeful and keep him and the family in their prayers. ANALYSIS | By Reason Wafawarova in Australia | Extra Territorial Jurisdiction
Let me start by saying I have not met, talked to, or communicated in any way with one Susan Vivian Mutami, a 34 year old Australian woman originally from Kwekwe, Zimbabwe.
Australian Police | file pic
I haven’t been on Facebook for the past two days, and I have had people asking me about my role if any, in the reported case where Ms Mutami is reported to have made a police report with Queensland Police Services regarding a case of alleged historical child sexual molestation or rape, dating back 19 years when Ms Mutami was 15.
The alleged perpetrator is the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
Without getting much into the detail of the allegations, let me categorically state I have not played any role in influencing the direction of this case, apart from suggesting here on social media that victims of similar crimes perpetrated in countries where they can prove they can’t get a fair trial have an option to pursue extra territorial jurisdiction.
Essentially this is when a country in another jurisdiction decides to prosecute an accused person in another jurisdiction because it is satisfied the perpetrator may never face justice where the alleged crime was committed, or when the victim of the alleged crime is a citizen of the country opting to exercise extra territorial jurisdiction, or when the accused is a citizen who committed the alleged crimes abroad.
Chapter 4 of the Australian Constitution provides for instances where Australia will exercise its extraterritorial jurisdiction. So far only cases related to war crimes have been considered.
Section 98 of the Zimbabwe Constitution provides for immunity for a sitting president, meaning a sitting President is not obliged at law to respond to any civil or criminal charges relating to his personal life, not until he leaves office. This also will be taken into consideration.
In Ms Mutami’s case two of the options apply, given the social standing of the alleged perpetrator. She is a citizen, and the accused wields a lot of power in Zimbabwe.
Belgium once announced it had taken a decision to exercise its right to extraterritorial jurisdiction over allegations levelled against Israeli General Ariel Sharon, and they announced if he travelled to Belgium or through Belgium they would arrest him and put him on trial.
The US responded by threatening to pull out NATO Headquarters from Belgium if the threat was carried out.
A few countries threatened to do the same with George W Bush’s alleged war crimes in Iraq after the US President left office.
Ms Mutami reported her case to the police service of a state in Australia, not the Australian Federal Police.
Like any other case the police will assess the allegations, ask for evidence and decide whether or not to refer the case to Federal Police.
Federal Police will investigate as well, most likely contact the accused, and if there are grounds to go to trial, charges can or may be pressed against the accused.
The accused can be represented by lawyers in absentia or can attend court if they choose to.
If the accused ignores the court summons, trial may proceed in absentia.
I notice Ms Mutami has a traceable record of the alleged case on line, including several times she explicitly exonerated the accused of any wrongdoing, including with the media.
I also notice Ms Mutami has a colourful, if not dramatic traceable sexual history on line, involving at least 33 high profile men in Harare alone.
I was just wondering if there will be a list for Australian men. While I am certain about my innocence on this matter I have a feeling I will have to ascertain my non involvement when or if the list will come out.
I also note there were claims made by Ms Mutami that her son was fathered by a late Zimbabwean politician, and that someone was framed to be the biological father to cover up the responsibility of the late Foreign Minister.
I also note Ms Mutami has claimed in the past that she was scan proven pregnant with politician Temba Mliswa’s two baby twins, and the twins never really got to materialise. No explanation has been offered for the anomaly yet.
The police will most likely assess factuality, credibility, intention, motivation, and any other relevant aspects related to this matter.

Today, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a call for people around the world to “do one thing” to prevent drowning.
As one of the leading causes of death globally for children and young people ages 1–24, and the third leading cause of injury-related deaths overall, drowning tragically claims more than 236 000 lives each year. To galvanize action and mark World Drowning Prevention Day, the Jet d’Eau in Geneva will be illuminated in blue this evening, accompanied by similar actions in other cities around the world.
––
More than 90% of drowning deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, with children under the age of 5 being at highest risk. These deaths are frequently linked to daily, routine activities, such as bathing, collecting water for domestic use, travelling over water on boats or ferries, and fishing. The impacts of seasonal or extreme weather events – including monsoons – are also a frequent cause of drowning and these impacts are largely preventable through a number of interventions.
“Every year, around the world, hundreds of thousands of people drown. Most of these deaths are preventable through evidence-based, low-cost solutions,” said WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “Today, cities around the world are lighting up their monuments in blue light as a call to action for each of us to do our part to prevent drowning. Let’s put a stop to drowning.”
“Drowning is a global public health challenge, and at Bloomberg Philanthropies, we’re focused on implementing solutions to prevent it.
Today, we’re joining our partners around the world in recognizing World Drowning Prevention Day and taking action,” said Michael R. Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies and WHO Global Ambassador for Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries. “In many cases, we know what works to prevent drowning. We’ve developed tools and guidance to help governments implement solutions – and if we do more together, we really can save thousands of lives.”
WHO recommends 6 evidence-based measures to prevent drowning, including installing barriers controlling access to water; training bystanders in safe rescue and resuscitation; teaching school-aged children basic swimming and water safety skills; providing supervised day care for children; setting and enforcing safe boating, shipping and ferry regulations; and improving flood risk management.
This year, the theme of World Drowning Prevention Day invites the global community to “do one thing” to prevent drowning. Examples of actions that can be taken are as follows:
Individuals can share drowning prevention and water safety advice with their families, friends and colleagues, sign up for swimming or water safety lessons, or support local drowning prevention charities and groups.
Groups can host public events to share water safety information, launch water safety campaigns, or commit to developing or delivering new drowning prevention programmes using recommended best practice interventions.
Governments can develop or announce new drowning prevention policies, strategies, legislation or investment, convene multisectoral roundtables or parliamentary discussions on drowning burden and solutions, and introduce or commit to supporting drowning prevention programming domestically or internationally. Many countries in the world have committed to drowning prevention programmes.
Bangladesh has started a 3-year program to reduce drowning among children throughout the country. As part of the program, the government will take over the 2 500 daycares established and funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies since 2012, and will expand the program by adding an additional 5 500 daycares to provide supervision to 200 000 children ages 1–5 years.

By-Leaders of Operation Dudula have been divided over a difference of opinion on foreign nationals in South Africa.
Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini, the leader of the xenophobic movement, left the organisation over this dispute.

By- A leading attorney and human rights lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, has written to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) demanding the arrest of a Zanu PF activist, Abton Mashayanyika, for calling for the assassination of the CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa.
Mashayanyika, popularly known as Bhito in Mabika, Gaururo and Mudavanhu areas, said Chamisa was a sellout who deserved to die.
Below is Mtetwa’s demands to the ZRP, the Human Rights Commission, National Peace and Reconciliation Commission, National Prosecuting Authority, and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission:
I write to all your organizations concerning a video circulating on various social media platforms where the person addressing the meeting called for the violent Murder of NELSON CHAMISA, other supporters of his political party and his children. Should you require the video which incites the Murder and violence against members of a lawful political party, same is readily available. Like other citizens, I have been waiting with bated breath for the arrest of the inciter and for the law to take its course. As it does not appear that the law enforcement agencies have taken any action on these inciteful calls, I shall assume that the country’s ever-alert law enforcement agents missed this video in their usual scouring of social media sites in search of offensive and possibly criminal material. Investigations have determined that the incitement to Murder and violence was issued by one ABTON MASHAYANYIKA, with the nickname BHITO who is said to be a Bishop of a religious organisation known as HABBAKUK APOSTOLIC FAITH MISSION. The inciter was addressing a ruling parry rally at RAMPOPO HILLS under CHIEF MAPIRAVANA in MBERENGWA NORTH and that he is from the DLEHARI AREA under SABHUKU KURAICHA. To the Commissioner General of Police, I request that in line with your Constitutional mandate to detect, investigate, and prevent crime, in addition to protecting and securing the lives and property of Zimbabweans, you investigate these utterances with a view to prosecuting what is clearly a criminal offence which has the potential of affecting the country’s internal security and the various rights that citizens are entitled to enjoy as provided for in the Constitution.
To the Zimbabwean Human Rights Commission, I bring this matter to your attention so that you can, as part of your Constitutional mandate, investigate the conduct of the maker of the inciteful words with a view to directing the Commissioner General to fully investigate the matter as there can be no doubt that the call for the killing of Zimbabweans in a clear criminal act which violates Zimbabweans’ rights to freedom of association and the right to join and to participate in the activities of political parties of their choice has no place in a country which has full respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms. To the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission, I request that, in terms of your Constitutional mandate, you intervene in this matter with a view to preventing the carrying out of the call to murder MR CHAMISA and his children and that you seek to conciliate and mediate any perceived conflict amongst the country’s political parties so that potential conflict, particularly as we approach the 2023 elections, is eliminated. It is my belief that your Commission, which is fully aware of the bloody nature of previous elections, is obliged to proactively advocate for tolerance and respect of different political beliefs and to promote peaceful co-existence amongst political parties. To this end, your Commission ought to be proactive in the discharge of its mandate where blatant calls for violence are made.
And to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, this is a complaint which would, if handled as is envisaged by the law, help political parties understand that every Zimbabwean has the right to participate in the country’s political processes without fear of being killed, maimed, intimidated and ultimately excluded in the determination of who governs the country. I, therefore, request that you take all necessary steps to ensure that all political parties are allowed the space required to campaign unhindered as the country approaches the 2023 elections and that where there are clear breaches of the law which will affect the fairness and freeness of electoral processes, you deal with such breaches in terms of the powers given to you under the Electoral Act. And to the National Prosecuting Authority, the request is that you look into this matter and exercise your prosecutorial powers independently, impartially and without fear or favour so that the perception that you only pursue and vigorously prosecute opposition political party members can be dispelled. I look forward to receiving acknowledgements from all of you and being appraised of your proposed courses of action. Yours faithfully B. MTETWA MTETWA & NYAMBIRAI

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean nurse died three weeks after landing in the UK.
Sithabile Sibanda
Sithabile Sibanda, who once worked in Belvedere at a Population Services Zimbabwe centre collapsed and died but the cause of her death is yet to be revealed.
Said Tendai Mandizha Mujuru on a facebook post while responding to William Jabangwe:
By A Correspondent| An unscrupulous businessman Labours Mahere appeared before the Karoi magistrates court for producing fake agricultural chemicals that has cost farmers thousands of dollars
Mahere who runs Karoi Farm Centre was caught red handed by police on Sunday while making fake chemicals with another company’s logo called CP Chemicals Zimbabwe.
CP Chemicals is a major supplier of agro chemicals in Zimbabwe. We Importers and distributors of agro chemicals providing fumigation services to pre-shipment quarantine and grain
He appeared at Karoi Magistrate court being charged under the trademark act which he pleaded guilty and now awaits sentencing.
Mahere has another court case in the high court where he is also being sued by Mhuri Farming Private Limited where he allegedly sold fake chemicals to the entity and the company incurred a US$150 000 loss after the seedlings failed to geminate.
A lawyer who is privy to the information said that Mahere allegedly sold a fake chemical with an Agricura logo. Tests done showed that the chemical was diluted.
Investigations showed that farmers across Mashonaland West have fallen victim to Mahere’s shenanigans.
Elmon Moyo, an Agricultural Extension Officer in Kazangarare said that over the past years many farmers have fallen victim to the unscrupulous businessman.
“This solves the puzzle that has been troubling us as agricultural officers. For years, farmers who ostensibly buy chemicals from Karoi Farm Centre do not get the intended results. I also know a family that bought cattle chemicals from the institution and lost several of them without a proper explanation,” he said.
Agricultural minister Anxious Masuka said unscrupulous people were taking advantage of the lax laws to con farmers.
“I have heard some cases and the government is working hard to come up with strong deterrence measures for unscrupulous people who are milking farmers with fake inputs,” he said.

The trial of Zimbabwe Mining Federation (ZMF) president, Henrietta Rushwaya, for allegedly bribing a Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) official in a bid to smuggle six kilograms of gold to Dubai has started.
Rushwaya denied ever offering a US$5,000 bribe to an official at Robert Mugabe International Airport as alleged.
She told Harare magistrate that she would not have done that because she had nothing to hide.
The State started by calling witness, Owen Sibanda, who said when they found out that there was gold in Rushwaya’s bag, they asked for papers allowing her to travel with the precious mineral and she indicated that someone was bringing the papers.
Sibanda told court that Rushwaya offered him US$5,000 so that she could go through with her gold but he refused, insisting he could not compromise the law to accommodate her interests.
“She said that she would give me US$5,000 if l let her pass, but l refused because l could not compromise the law just to accommodate her interests,” said Sibanda.
During cross examination, Sibanda was asked by Rushwaya’s lawyer, Peter Patisani, if he was given or if he saw the money and he said no.
Sibanda told the court that the alleged bribe was directed to him and three others who were available.
“The offer came to me as the supervisor, but also to others who were hearing the conversation,” said Sibanda.
However, another witness, Dzikamai Paradza, told court that the bribe was only meant for Sibanda since he was the one talking to Rushwaya.
Sibanda told the court that he took the bribe offer as a joke and what made him call the police was the issue of gold smuggling.
Patisani then made an application for discharge, citing lack of evidence.
“In his statement, Sibanda said he was not even bribed and there is no substantial evidence that there is even a bribe case before the court,” said Patisani.
He further told the court that the State does not even know what was offered, whether it was 5,000 stones or cents.
“In the absence of what was offered, the court is put into a predicament to ask the accused what was allegedly offered,” he added.
However, the State opposed the application, insisting it has a strong case against Rushwaya and that she should defend her case.
The case has been postponed to August 1, 2022, for ruling of the application for discharge made by the defence.
A LEADING international law firm based in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) has joined the legal team representing incarcerated Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member of parliament Job Sikhala.
The development emerged Monday as party leader Nelson Chamisa was refused entry at Chikurubi Maximum Prison in Harare were he wanted to visit Sikhala, fellow CCC legislator Godfrey Sithole and a dozen other party activists.
All 14 have been in remand prison, denied bail, for more than a month after being arrested for allegedly inciting the violence with rocked memorial services and a funeral wake for slain CCC activist Moreblessing Ali.
Amsterdam & Partners, the international law firm joining the Sikhala case, says they are committed “to holding states accountable for violating the human rights of their citizens and residents.
“Its founding partner, Canadian Robert Amsterdam, is described as a crusader for the world’s “highest profile human rights cases”.
Big name international clients include Mikhail Khodorkovsky, one of Russia’s famous ex-political prisoner who is now a leading opposition figure and philanthropist.
By A Correspondent- Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president Nelson Chamisa was Monday denied entry into Chikurubi Maximum Prison where he sought to visit jailed Members of Parliament, Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole, and 13 other party activists.
The CCC lawmakers were arrested a month ago on allegations of inciting public violence which erupted in Nyatsime in the funeral wake of slain CCC activist Moreblessing Ali. Chamisa tweeted:

CCC deputy spokesperson Giff Ostallos said Chamisa was made to wait for three hours before being told that he is a high-profile political leader he was supposed to seek clearance first from the police.
Siziba said they were going to meet police commissioner general Godwin Matanga for a way forward. He said:
This behaviour by ZANU PF of trying to employ the prisons to act in a manner that is unprofessional and unpartisan is barbaric, inhumane, illegal, and uncalled for because we are Zimbabwean citizens and Zanu PF has no monopoly over the infrastructure of the state.
We must be able to have access to our champions who are in prison, they are there because they are victims of state sponsored and Zanu PF engineered charges.
Tomorrow we are going to meet with the commissioner general of the police to find out this new procedure that is illegal and not in the law about how Chamisa is going to access prisoners.
Meanwhile, the CCC spokesperson Fadzai Mahere told eNCA, a South African broadcaster that the arrest and continued detention of party activists was concerning especially considering that three of the 14 who were arrested had actually their homes burnt. She added:
Instead of the perpetrators of that arson being arrested, they are the ones being dragged to court. Two of them are just lorry drivers who were caught in the crossfire of this crackdown by the regime against opposition as if it’s a crime to be CCC and our organisation has been banned.
By James Gwati- Prison authorities Monday blocked CCC president, Nelson Chamisa from seeing Job Sikhala.
Sikhala is the CCC deputy chairman and is in remand prison at Chikurubi maximum security prison.
He was arrested last month while representing the family of the late party activist, Moreblessing Ali, who Zanu PF thugs killed in Nyatsime.
CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba posted the announcement on Twitter:

By James Gwati- Judicial Service Commission Boss and former top Magistrate Walter Chikwanha has been named in the list of senior Zanu PF officials who have bedded Susan Mutami.
Chikwana became prominent in 2011 when Zanu PF tasked him to preside over the inquest of the late General Solomon Mujuru.
Walter Chikwanha
Mujuru died in a suspicious inferno at his Beatrice farm on 15 August 2011.
The late General’s wife, Joyce Mujuru, vice President then, argued that her husband was murdered.
Even the late President Robert Mugabe was not convinced that Mujuru died from a fire that engulfed his farmhouse.
Zanu PF insiders said that Emerson Mnangagwa, also Mugabe’s deputy, killed Mujuru to weaken his wife Joyce so that he (Mnangagwa) would easily succeed Mugabe.
Mujuru and Mnangagwa were leading factions contesting to succeed Mugabe.
Confessing on Twitter spaces last week, Susan Mutami said she also slept with Chikwanha.
Chikwanha is one of the at least eight top officials, including President Emerson Mnangagwa, whom Susan said slept with her.

Mutami, Monday opened a rape case against Mnangagwa in Australia.
But Mnangagwa who was burying the late Harare provincial minister Oliver Chidawu deliberately ignored to comment on his rape allegations and chose to attack the opposition. Mnangagwa attributed the sorry state of affairs in Harare and other urban areas to corruption amongst opposition councillors. Mnangagwa said Harare under Mayor Oliver Chidawu delivered quality public goods and services adding that the current crop of politicians in the capital has reversed the gains recorded when Chidawu was Mayor. Chidawu was elected Harare Mayor at the age of 29 in 1984.
Since the turn of the millennium, most urban councils have fallen into the hands of the opposition. They have been a battleground between the ruling ZANU PF and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and now Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). The opposition accuses the ruling party of interfering with the affairs of the local government authorities to incapacitate the councils so that the blame would be put on the opposition.
On the other hand, Zanu PF argues that through the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, the central government will only be exercising its oversight role. What remains a fact is that there is poor service delivery in local government authorities nationwide. Some analysts say poor service delivery in local government authorities mirrors the state of the economy at a national level.
Tinashe Sambiri|President Nelson Chamisa’s CCC romped to victory in the Kariba and Chipinge by-elections held on Saturday.

The Confederation of African Football has refused to recognise the recently appointed ZIFA executive led by Gift Banda.
The new board had hoped to convince the continental football body and FIFA to lift the international ban on Zimbabwe football. The FA started engaging the two organisations last month when the SRC lifted the suspension on some members.
The new executive even approached former presidents Philip Chiyangwa and Cuthbert Dube to help them to persuade FIFA to remove the ban.
However, the efforts have hit a brick wall after CAF informed in a letter to the FA that the sanctions are still in place and will only lift them once the stipulated conditions are met.
The orders include SRC reinstating Felton Kamambo and Joseph Mamutse and the commission withdrawing a court case against the pair.
The continental body also said that the Banda-led executive should stop using the funds deposited by CAF or FIFA in the ZIFA bank accounts.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Police in Gweru last night said they were still to identify the body of a man who was found dead in an old car within the Midlands Hotel premises yesterday morning.
The dead body was found inside a non-runner Mercedes Benz which belongs to the hotel.
“Investigations are still on and the body is still to be identified though there are some leads. We will have more details by tomorrow (today),” said the provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko last night.
The hotel owner, Mr Hamutendi Kombayi who is also the city mayor, said the hotel management was also waiting for the police to complete investigations. “We are also shocked as the hotel management, but we have nothing to do with the incident. We also wait for the police to complete their investigations,” he said.
Mr Kombayi said the hotel will also interrogate its security personnel to find out how the deceased sneaked into the car. “We have a security which man the hotel 24/7 so we want to also know how the person sneaked into the carport and into the car,” he said.
Meanwhile, some witnesses said the now deceased could have been attacked last week while attending a musical gig that was hosted by the hotel. “This hotel hosts musical shows every weekend. The hotel mounts a stage at the car park for musicians to perform and it is always full. This person could have been attacked during last week’s gig and ended up in the old car,” said a witness who declined to be named.
Another witness said the deceased could be a vagabond who sought warmth in the car and later died.
“You know Gweru is chilly these days and this could be a vagabond who felt cold and was not well, who then sought to find some warmth inside this ramshackle,” said a local vendor Ms Leonora Moyo. -Herald
THE GOVERNMENT is on track to surpass its target to deliver 220 000 housing units by 2025 leveraging on partnerships with the private sector and new technology in the human settlement.
This was said by Vice President Dr Costantino Chiwenga and buttressed by National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Daniel Garwe during groundbreaking ceremony of walk-up housing flats being spearheaded by Government in partnership with Shelter Afrique in Victoria Falls.
Zimbabwe is a shareholder of the pan-African banking institution that exclusively supports the development of affordable housing and real estate sector growth in Africa, who have pledged US$25 million sovereign fund to finance at least 3 000 housing units.
President Mnangagwa launched the Zimbabwe National Human Settlement Policy in September last year and the Ministry of National Housing is operationalising the policy in partnership with the private sector in line with Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
Delivering affordable and quality settlements in urban and rural areas is one of Government core targets to improve access to affordable and quality housing and soial amenities under the economic blueprint.
Zimbabwe has a national housing backlog of around 1,5 million units and targets to deliver 1,2 units by 2030 and part of the vision is to change the face Zimbabwe by building modern houses that are sustainable and environment friendly.
The Victoria Falls walk-up flats will be a model that will be replicated countrywide.
The first phase will have three blocks with three storeys each and each will accommodate six families.
VP Chiwenga said the Second Republic is committed to making sure all Government projects are implemented especially construction and infrastructure, to improve livelihoods of citizens.
“It is my singular honour to address you at this occasion to mark the groundbreaking ceremony for the Victoria Falls walk up flats. This marks yet another milestone in our quest for housing delivery.
“I am reliably informed that the first phase of this flat site that we are launching today has a potential to accommodate 24 families in total.
“Subsequent phases will be implemented in this city and other local authorities in Zimbabwe as we seek to meet the national target of 220 000 housing units by 2025, if not more. I think Honourable Minister (National Housing) we shall surpass your target. The foundation stone has been laid, let the construction start in earnest,” said VP Chiwenga.
He said Zimbabwe is pursuing a densification strategy as pronounced in the Zimbabwe National Human Settlement Policy to preserve land which is a finite resource.
On a lighter note, VP Chiwenga said Government will invest more in high rise buildings since there is no boundary going up, and “maybe to surpass the envisaged Tower of Babel which we have ready in the Bible.”
He said accommodation is important to the people, adding that what is critical to a human being is water, food and shelter and Government will surely provide these.
“We are responsible for the livelihood of our people and we must make sure those three basic needs are provided and they shall be provided. This construction project will go a long way in reducing the ever ballooning housing backlog in Victoria Falls and ultimately in the entire country,” said VP Chiwenga.
He said the project is a clear demonstration of a successful public-private partnership, as unveiling housing finance is critical in the social amenities delivery value chain.
Zimbabwe is one of the four countries, the others being Cameroon, Nigeria and Togo that Shelter Afrique pledged funding to.
Local financial institutions have also shown interest in partnering Government in housing projects.
The country lacks financial resources to respond to the demand of rapid urbanization and housing, in an environment where cost of borrowing is exorbitant.
The VP said partners like Shelter Afrique become handy as an avenue for affordable finance which allows Governments space to provide appropriate safety nets to vulnerable groups
“These PPPs give impetus to the construction of modern block of flats which dovetails with our desire to achieve densification which enables us to accommodate more people per square metre. I therefore call upon the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities, City of Victoria Falls and all stakeholders to join forces for the successful implementation of this project.
“Together we can spearhead the provision of sustainable human settlements with requisite basic amenities in line with the aspirations of the African Union Agenda 2063. The foundation stone has been laid, let the construction start in earnest. There is no going back, when we come here we want to see the foundations up. If we say seven months it must be seven months.
“Those who are responsible for roles, must do their roles so that that everything goes as is planned,” said the VP while calling for an all-stakeholder approach in projects delivery to leave a better country for the generations to come.
National Housing Minister Garwe said sustainable human settlements development require huge capital and this cannot be provided by the Government alone. -Herald
Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has pointed out that every citizen has a crucial role to play in the struggle for the people’s victory.
The CCC leader exhorted the nation to get ready for a citizens government.
On Monday morning President Chamisa wrote on Twitter:
“GOOD MORNING ZIMBABWE…
Get ready for your New government, a CITIZENS GOVERNMENT.

Inspired by her late father who was an Agritex officer, a female farmer, Ms Talita Matutu left her job as a maid in South Africa to venture into a successful horticulture project at her plot in Rangemore in Umguza District.
Sudden turn…woman transforms self
Ms Matutu represents a crop of female farmers who are defining the success story of farming, thereby contributing significantly to food security for the nation as they continue to rise fast to levels unparalleled by their male counterparts.
In the last two months, Ms Matutu (58) has been busy harvesting tomatoes of the conventional Rodade variety and has so far realised US$1 500 from sales.
Rodade is an adaptable open pollinated, determinate salad tomato. The plants grow to a bush with a height in the region of 100cm.
The tomatoes have a globe shape, uniform in size and weight around 100 – 150g. The yield potential of Rodade is high for an open pollinated variety.
This month, Ms Matutu has started harvesting Tengeru tomatoes, a high-yielding strong plant with very good yields. The tomatoes are firm round to oblate and weigh between 100-125g with a two weeks’ shelf life.
A single mother of four, Ms Matutu said through farming, she is able to sustain her family and pay fees for her children including their children.
One of her children has since completed her studies at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) through her mother’s farming business.
Ms Matutu has also inspired her children to venture into agriculture-related business. Her youngest daughter, a water resources engineering student at the Bulawayo Polytechnic, is following in her footsteps.
Ms Matutu worked in South Africa as a house maid from 2003 until 2009 when she decided to return home to venture into farming.
Since venturing into full-time farming a few years ago, Ms Matutu has never looked back as her horticulture project is paying dividends.
She specialises in growing tomatoes, garlic, cabbages, vegetables and butternuts at her 5-hectare piece of land. She has presently planted garlic and 5 000 cabbages and she expects to harvest both crops in September.
Ms Matutu said she harvests after every three months and supplies local supermarkets, fruit and vegetable markets in Bulawayo and individuals. “I inherited this piece of land from my late parents and since I started venturing into full-time farming a few years ago, I have not looked back. I grow tomatoes, garlic, cabbages, vegetables and butternuts, which I then take to the local market,” said Ms Matutu.
“I grew up in a family that literally ate, drank and deamt farming and that is precisely how I developed the interest in farming. I am actually following in my father’s footsteps and he is the one who inspired me.. By virtue of having been an Agritex officer, my father loved farming so much.”
Ms Matutu said she decided to take farming seriously following the death of her parents in 2008 and 2011 respectively
“When I started, I only utilised a small portion in such a vast piece of land growing several varieties of crops. In 2019, It dawned on me that farming is big business and that is when I decided to take farming seriously by expanding the hectarage,” she said.
“Through various training programmes and the encouragement from our local Agritex officer, I have moved to this level of farming, which I am today proud of.”
Ms Matutu relies on an electricity powered engine to pump water from the borehole to the fields. However, due to the vandalism of a Zesa power transformer by thieves, she has in the last two months been relying on a generator to pump water.
“When it comes to farming, as long as you have focus and passion you won’t go wrong. I have a grandson who is doing Form Four at a boarding school and I have been paying his fees through farming,” she said. Ms Matutu said some of the crops were affected by frost.
Ms Matutu said once she secures funds, she intends to drill more boreholes and introduce drip irrigation, which will help conserve water and electricity as well as improve the quality of her produce.
She also intends to buy solar powered pumps to minimise disruption on her farming activities given that they rely on electricity to power the pump.
Ms Matutu is also a member of the Umguza Horticulture Consortium (UHC), which she chairs.
She said through farming, she hopes to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth.
Zimbabwe is an agrarian economy with most of the country’s sectors being directly and indirectly linked to the agricultural sub-sector.
Government is targeting transformation of rural and urban economies through enhancement of food, nutrition, markets, and jobs using value chains, including the horticulture sector, as a means of achieving a prosperous, inclusive, diverse, sustainable and competitive agriculture sector.- State Media

Citizens 2-0 ZANUPF:CCC Namibia congratulates Chipinge and Kariba wards for the resounding victory!
25 July 2022
Saturday was an extraordinary day in the motherland, specifically in Chipinge and Kariba where by-elections were held despite serious intimidation and gross violations of human liberties. Citizens in Namibia who subscribe to the astute and organic leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa are gyrating hysterically in uncontrollable gusto following their appetising win in the recent by-elections in the two wards. The district is very delighted that regardless of the uneven political field, especially in the rural Chipinge where citizens are frog-marched to attend ZANU-PF rallies.
It is quite perturbing that the so-called structureless party is the one that is trouncing ZANU-PF and its surrogates as indicated by the March by-elections to date. Some wayward political commentators suppose that the Citizens Coalition for Change should have solid structures for it to seriously compete with the clueless and politically inept ZANUPF and demonstrate its readiness to govern. This has been demystified by the successive victories in these by-elections. It has become clear that structures don’t win elections but determined and committed citizens even under the worst in conducive election environment do.
Namibia district is thankful to the pragmatic citizens in Kariba ward 5 and Chipinge ward 16. The sweet accomplishment by change champions should aid all the critics including the self-exiled former ZANU-PF politburo member who has been the most vocal proponent of structures and has alluded that CCC should be banned from contesting elections if it doesn’t have formal structures to comprehend that Citizens Coalition for Change is introducing fresh politics. “How can you ban the winning team? This is a ploy to ban democracy and close the much-needed democratic space in Zimbabwe”, said Rundu Branch interim Secretary General, Simbarashe Ndoda interrogating Jonathan Moyo’s interests in the structures of our vibrant party.
Moreover, the political refugee is desperately seeking political relevance in the sight of his erstwhile friends in the satanic regime. Winning by-elections is a clear testament that the new baby shall govern a New Great Zimbabwe after the historic 2023 harmonized elections with Commander in Chief Advocate President Chamisa. The sweetest was the rustic Chipinge precinct where citizens resisted all forms of intimidation, torture, and gross abuse of human rights meant to deter social democrats from voting for that change that delivers.
Amid high levels of human butchery which saw Mboneni Ncube, Langelihle Dube, Nyasha Zhambe and Moreblessing Ali massacred on account of politics, change champions remained undeterred, unwavering, and dedicated to winning the motherland for a complete change. Our revolutionary message to the people of Zimbabwe is unequivocally clear, register to vote, go and vote for change in 2023, and defend the vote against ZANU-PF rigging shenanigans. We heard with a fury that citizens were compelled to confess that they were unable to write so that they could be assisted to vote, this must be resisted with equal determination. Citizens must stand firm to defend their ballot.
Furthermore, citizens should not be made comfortable by these minute political scores, although they are fundamental politically. We should keep our eyes on the main match in 2023 where we expect a resounding victory that will bring socio-economic transfiguration to the motherland. We urge the millennial generation(youths) to register to vote in their astronomical numbers to safeguard their future which looks bleak in the hands of corrupt dictators who have started our country down the slopes of hyperinflation and gross misgovernance.
The youths must register to vote for better livelihoods, employment opportunities, quality education, a sound health system, and respect for the universal basic rights enshrined in the 2013 constitution. Voting is part of liberation and freedom. The youths must dispute the weaponization of the law by the satanic regime through voting. We should complement each other if we want to successfully unseat an authoritarian government. It is now imperative to demand comprehensive electoral, political, and constitutional reforms to create a conducive environment for free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in Zimbabwe.
Namibia district is cobra-headed to celebrate this victory in the absence of the incarcerated Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, Obert Masaraure, the Nyatsime 11, and all prisoners of conscience who are in jail for demanding justice for Moreblessing Ali and unfair labour practices. We shall continue to demand their immediate and unconditional release since they are innocent. ZANU-PF should stop criminalizing alternative voices, citizens must be allowed to exercise their rights without fear of being persecuted by the prosecution. The regime should respect fundamental human freedoms.
Thank you, Kariba! Thank you, Chipinge! Thank you, Zimbabwe! Thank you citizens who won without resources, no posters, pamphlets, no money, and very few resources. We salute you for the sacrifice! Let’s unite and vanquish these enemies of progress.

By-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ignored rape allegations levelled against him by Susan Mutami, and instead attacked the opposition for what he called failure to provide service delivery in Harare.

Highlanders returned to winning ways following their 1-0 victory over cross-town rivals Bulawayo City on the Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 22.
The match had a cagey start, with both sides failing to penetrate each other in the opening minutes.
The hosts got the first real chance in the 11th minute when Lynoth Chikuhwa’s cross found Godfrey Makaruse, who managed to bury it from close range to open the scoring.
The forward followed up with another opportunity to double the cushion, but he blew his effort over from an unmissable point. Bukhosi Sibanda also had a crack at goal but missed his shot.
On the other end, City never threatened and played deep for almost the entire first half.
The visitors failed to come out of their shells in the second period and never showed any intent to recover, while Highlanders’ goalmouth incidents were few and far between.
The game remained unchanged, and Bosso picked a victory to move to sixth place with 33 points.

The beleaguered and highly unpopular ruling party ZANUPF got 175 votes.
ZANUPF has failed to run the economy!
Zimbabwe’s main opposition CCC led by Nelson Chamisa has won the Chipinge West Ward 16 By-Election.
CCC got 1291 votes and the ruling party ZANU PF got 1205.
However the margin difference between CCC and ZANUPF is still worrying in a shattered economy.
It requires more people to register to vote for 2023 of CCC and Nelson Chamisa want an emphatic victory which can’t be rigged by ZANUPF.
CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said:
“Victory is only certain of citizens register to vote!
Thank you, citizens, for yet another landslide victory for the yellow movement. Despite intimidation, vote buying & attempts to rig, you chose change in Kariba & Chipinge. We won both by-elections emphatically. Thank you polling agents for defending the vote. #FakaPressure.”

Elsewhere, CAPS United played a goalless draw against Manica Diamonds while Bulawayo Chiefs beat Tenax CS 2-0.

Turkish giants Galatasaray and La Liga club Real Valladolid have reportedly joined the race to sign out-of-favour Lyon striker Tinotenda Kadewere.
The Zimbabwean forward struggled for game time in the previous campaign and there has been a strong belief he might leave the club in this transfer window.
His contract at Lyon runs until 2026.
Ligue 1 sides Brest and Strasbourg expressed interest in the services of the Warriors forward, while several unnamed German clubs are also monitoring the player.
According to reports in Turkey, Galatasaray have also joined the list of teams that are targeting to sign the Warriors international.
The Super Lig giants have already inquired about the transfer fees for the player.
Valladolid are reportedly to have identified the Zimbabwean as a target but no bid has been submitted so far.
Meanwhile, Kadewere is currently in Netherlands, with his Lyon teammates, preparing for the 2022/23 season.
He was named in the traveling squad for the pre-season in the Netherlands, where coach Peter Bosz wants to assess his options before making any transfer decisions ahead of the season4.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

This was revealed by CCC youth leader Netsai Marova.
She called for the immediate release of political prisoners- including Hon Job Sikhala and Hon Godfrey Sithole.
Below is Netsai Marova’s statement:
“Of the #FreetheNyatsime13 detained in Prison, one of them is my brother and Elder at Assemblies of God Church, Mabvuku mission church, Baba Chauya Shopa.
I’m heartbroken to hear his wife is unwell and one of his child recently had a surgical operation that hasn’t fully recovered yet.

By Ettie Karney | I am calling out Susan Mutami who is on the run from a fraud case since 2020, when she (after benefitting from our family accomodation), stole my mother’s passport, impersonated my mum, copied my mum’s signature and opened an email account pretending to be my mother.
You fraudulently applied for a loan and signed it with the passport you through the email you created pretending to be my mum.
You know I reported this through ZimEye in Feb 2021 are you’re now out creating political stories so you can hide behind them.
If you are a real victim as you say, come out here on ZimEye and make your whereabouts known to Australian authorities.
I am also shocked that a whole academic Chipo Dendere has rushed to comment while destroying the cases of scores of rape victims.
Chipo Dendere, how can you advocate for someone who defrauded me, and for years is behind the raping of over 50 women, and has herself personally threatened to rape a journalist’s 95 year old father?
Chipo Dendere, as a professor who stands before the US Senate, I am asking you to be honest and give me Susan Mutami’s address so Austrian Police can locate her over her frauds which are 3 years old.
By A Correspondent| High Court Judge Justice Siyabona Musithu will on Wednesday 27 July 2022 convene a hearing challenging the constitutionality of some restrictive and discriminatory provisions of the Police Act, which unfairly impede litigants from seeking redress for violation of their fundamental rights and freedoms.
The hearing comes after the filing of an application on 25 April 2022 by Brian Choba and Justice Chiutsi, who were shot in February 2018 by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers, who argued that to limit the time within which aggrieved parties are allowed to sue ZRP to eight months in terms of the provisions of Section 70 of the Police Act is a violation of their constitutional rights as provided in section 56 of the Constitution and section 69 of the Constitution. Section 56 of the Constitution guarantees the right to equal protection of the law and benefit of the law while Section 69 provides for the right to a fair hearing.
Choba and Chiutsi, who are represented by Tonderai Bhatasara of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, argued that there is no justification why ZRP should be given preferential treatment for them to be sued within a shorter period of eight months.
According to the duo, removing ZRP’s privilege will help in advancing the rights of those who would be on the receiving end of police brutality or whose rights and freedoms would have been violated.
Choba and Chiutsi want the High Court to declare section 70 of the Police Act to be unconstitutional and inconsistent with section 56(1) of the Constitution and section 69(2) and (3) of the Constitution.
Choba and Chiutsi, who are victims of police brutality and sued ZRP and Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe in 2018, petitioned the High Court after the law enforcement agency sought to have their lawsuit filed four years ago dismissed on the basis that any civil proceedings instituted against it should have been commenced within eight months after the cause of action had arisen.
The victims of police brutality argue that the eight months’ period prescribed in the Police Act is inadequate in a practical sense such that it nullifies the fundamental right of access to the courts.
THE family of slain Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Moreblessing Ali have been hounded out of their Chitungwiza house by Zanu PF activists while suspected state security agents are periodically visiting the home, instilling fear.
The family were driven out of their St Mary’s home soon after CCC held a prayer meeting at Moreblessing’s home on 13 June. The prayer meeting was attended by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and other senior party officials.
Family members told The NewsHawks that Moreblessing’s son Silence and brother Wellington are in hiding since being hounded out of their home.
Moreblessing was kidnapped by a Zanu PF activist Pius Jamba in Nyatsime on 24 May and her dismembered body was found in a disused well on 11 June. Jamba was arrested in Hurungwe five days after the body was discovered at his mother’s plot. He indicated that he killed Moreblessing soon after abducting her.
Moreblessing’s body has still not been buried, two months after her murder.
Among other stipulations, the family are insisting that they will only bury her upon the release of their lawyer Job Sikhala, who was at the forefront of demanding justice for Moreblessing.
Sikhala has been incarcerated for over three weeks alongside Chitungwiza North member of Parliament Godfrey Sithole charged with inciting public violence.
Speaking from his hideout, Silence said burial arrangements for his slain mother will only begin after the release of their family lawyer. The family is also demanding answers on what happened to Moreblessing.
“There is nothing we can do while Job Sikhala is still in prison. We cannot proceed with burial arrangements for my mother while Mr Sikhala is still I in custody. We want to know the truth about her death and guidance from our family lawyer, Job Sikhala,” he said.
After the recovery of Moreblessing’s badly mutilated body, the family released a list of demands to be met before they could proceed with burial. These include the arrest of Nyatsime councillor Masimbi Masimbi and Nyatsime Zanu PF branch chairperson Simba Chisango, whom they are implicating.
Chisango is Jamba’s brother.
Masimbi made news during the first days of mourning after dispersing the Ali family and CCC members who had gathered at Moreblessing’s home. He “banned” the funeral, claiming to be the owner of the area where the deceased had been staying.
This resulted in violent clashes between CCC and Zanu PF supporters.
“We maintain the family position in that everyone involved in the murder of my mother should be arrested before we bury. That means Pius Jamba is not the only person in this murder. Simba Chisango told me in front of a Zanu PF crowd that if we fail to locate my mother, he would direct me to his brother, meaning he knew what had happened,” Silence said.
He also implicated Masimbi.
“He came to the house questioning me and pushing me to encourage my family to proceed with burial, and not politicise the death. He even stopped me from distributing fliers that would assist us in finding my mother. At one time, he said police were calling him to retrieve a body in some dam, but he was not very open with me,” Silence added.
Meanwhile, Jamba was remanded in custody and is awaiting indictment in the High Court for the murder. His next court appearance is on 28 July.
Wellington Ali, brother to the deceased, is also in hiding after he was attacked by Zanu activists at the Ali home after the prayer meeting.
He said it is not safe to return to his parents’ house.
“What is happening with this funeral has never happened at any funeral. We are no longer safe even as we are talking to you we are no longer open in this free Zimbabwe,” said Wellington.
The family are so fearful that they are yet to collect the belongings of the deceased from the police, despite an invitation to do so.
“We were asked to go and get my mother’s phones and clothes, but we never went there because of the threats that we had received, we are yet to go and collect the things,” Silence added.
He added that the family home is under constant surveillance from suspected state security agents.
“People call us and tell us of unmarked vehicles parked outside the house. We cannot go back there. We have asked some people to remove our belongings. We do not feel safe,” said Ali.

By A Correspondent- The Government has ordered schools that have charged formal candidates centre fees for Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) November examinations to reverse the transactions.
This follows reports that some school heads were demanding between US$10 and US$25 as centre fees for formal examination candidates enrolled in their schools.
Some schools reportedly barred prospective ZIMSEC candidates from paying registration fees.
Previously, centre fees were paid by external candidates while formal learners were exempted from paying that fee.
Director of Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Taungana Ndoro said:
We are not aware of that but we will be investigating the matter.
Students in formal school are not to be charged that fee. It is illegal for schools to do that.
Those that are doing so should stop while those that have done so already should reimburse the parents.
Registration commenced on Friday with the fees in US dollar terms set at US$10 per subject for Grade 7, while it is US$11 per subject for O-level and A-level is at US$22 per subject.
ZIMSEC announced that schools must use an exchange rate of ZWL$454.7 to US$1 when collecting the fees.
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) will release the Mosi-oa-Tunya gold coins onto the market today and they will be sold in local currency, US$ and other foreign currencies.
Their price is based on the prevailing international price of gold plus five percent to cover the cost of production and distribution of the coin on a payment versus delivery basis.
Individuals and institutional buyers of the coins will be required to hold them for at least 180 days before selling them while exporters earning less than US$1million will be allowed to use the surrender portion of their receipts to purchase the coins in foreign currency.
The Mosi-oa-Tunya gold coin, named after Victoria Falls is made mostly of gold.
Most gold coins minted since 1800 are 90–92 percent gold (22 carats), while most of today’s gold bullion coins are pure gold, such as the Britannia, Canadian Maple Leaf, and American Buffalo.
Alloyed gold coins, like the American Gold Eagle and South African Krugerrand, are typically 91,7 percent gold by weight, with the remainder being silver and copper.
In a statement, RBZ said once payment has been received by the selling agent, the buyer of the gold coin shall take physical possession of the gold coin or opt to keep the gold coin through bankers of own choice (custodial services) on terms and conditions of the custodial service provider.
