Sergio Aguero will announce his retirement from playing football at a press conference in Barcelona on Wednesday, according to Sky Sports.
The 33-year-old was recently diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) after he complained of chest pains and dizziness on his second league start for Barcelona against Alaves in October.
He was initially sidelined by the condition for at least three months.
But the Argentine has now been forced to hang his boots to avoid more complications.
Aguero signed for Barca in the summer on a free transfer from Manchester City, where he had scored 184 goals in 275 Premier League appearances to become the club’s all-time top scorer. – Soccer24 Zimbabwe
WHO STI Research Priority Setting Technical Advisory Group
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have a profound impact on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) worldwide. In 2020, an estimated 374 million new infections occurred globally with one of the 4 curable STIs: syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis.
[1] The Global Health Sector Strategy on STIs (2016-2021) sets out several guiding principles for ending the STI epidemic as a public health problem,[2] but many gaps in evidence limit available guidance and tools, and progress toward STI prevention and control has been slow.[3] As an updated global strategy is developed for the next decade, new research is essential to strengthen the evidence base for new and improved interventions and guidelines including, but not limited to: the epidemiology, risk factors, and consequences of STIs; development and evaluation of behavioral, biomedical, clinical, and programmatic STI interventions and strategies; and scaling up existing interventions.
WHO is undertaking an exercise to identify global and regional STI research priorities. The systematic priority setting approach will involve consultation with a wide range of global stakeholders.
A Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on STI Research Priority Setting, consisting of external experts, will contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of the research priority setting exercise. The STI Research Priority Setting TAG will be expected to oversee the process and to consider and include perspectives across regions, gender, populations and socioeconomics.
In its capacity as an advisory body to WHO, the STI Research Priority Setting TAG shall have the following functions:
Develop the priority setting framework (eg. clarify the objectives, context, scope, and focus areas of the process). Review and provide comments to WHO on the research priority setting process protocol and survey tools.
Generate lists of national, regional and global STI experts and stakeholder groups to ensure a broad range of survey participants are reached during the priority setting process implementation. Participate in consolidating STI research questions solicited from stakeholder surveys.
Ensure that the proposed criteria for scoring research questions will address the objectives of the exercise. Review analysis and results of ranking and systematic listing of priority research questions (with data management/statistical support). Contribute to the WHO finalization. publishing and dissemination of global STI research priorities.
The STI Research Priority Setting TAG will meet with the WHO Secretariat throughout this process. The first meeting will be convened no earlier than 13 December 2021. In keeping with the requirements of the WHO Advisory Groups guidelines and the WHO Compliance, Risk Management and Ethics Office, we are posting online short biographies of the TAG members.
The listed candidates have also submitted a Declaration of Interest form stating any conflict of interests. WHO has applied its internal processes to ensure that the performance of the above tasks by members of this group will be transparent and without any significant conflict of interests (academic, financial, or other) that could affect the credibility of the process.
Nevertheless, WHO invites the general public to review the experts and stakeholders involved and provide feedback regarding any member deemed to have a significant conflict of interest with respect to the terms of reference for this group.
Comments and feedbacks should be cordial and constructive, and sent to [email protected] . Source: World Health Organization
Tinashe Sambiri|A UK based Zanu PF stalwart has claimed Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has become popular to the extent that monkeys and baboons are now supporting him.
Speaking on ZimEye news review on Monday, Masimba Mavaza stunned all and sundry when he addressed Mr Mnangagwa as the People’s President.
The title People’s President is associated with popular MDC Alliance leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa.
Zanu PF, analysts postulate, wants to steal President Chamisa’s title in a desperate bid to dilute the young politician’s rising popularity.

So it was one of those visits at no 72 Cambridge Road, Mandara; I happend to be at Better Brands offices and whilst there that was when I received a call from my son, Courage. He just phoned using my wife’s phone and said, Daddy Daddy, tapindirwa, tapindirwa nembavha, then he just cut off the phone. So one of the security guards employed by Better Brands, was just nearby; and you know I was carrying a simple 9 mm girsan pistol.
I was carrying a simple girsan pistol with only 7 rounds, and I simply told myself, this firearm is inadequate; so I had to ask one of the security guards at Better Brands security to come with me, and accompany me to my house.

“WIN BIG, WIN IN SILENCE AND IN STYLE. AND LET THEM THINK YOU HAVE NO PLAN. The future Is exciting!! Have a blessed day friends,” President Chamisa wrote on his official Facebook page.
MDC Alliance spokesperson Advocate Fadzayi has also pointed out that the unlawful deprivation of the party’s funding by the regime is a futile attempt to decimate the people’s struggle.
“The unlawful deprivation of MDC Alliance funding by the regime is a futile attempt to decimate the main opposition. This won’t stand in the way of our 6 million vote target. We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to garner 6 million votes & win Zimbabwe for change,” Mahere said.

Zambia’s UNPD Youth leader, Joseph Kalimbwe has revealed that in Zambia, a passport costs US$21 and collected in less than 21 days.
In Zimbabwe, the newly gazetted prices will see an ordinary application going for US$120 while an emergency is now going for US$220.
On the other hand, most ordinary passport applications take years to be processed with the current backlog running into hundreds of thousands.
Why is everything not working in Zimbabwe?

By Jane Mlambo| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s top ally, Kudakwashe Tagwirei has bagged another lucrative government tender which will see pocketing US$20 for every e-passport application.
Tagwirei is linked to CBZ Bank which has will be used by e-passport applicants.
This is contained in statutory Instrument (SI 273 of 2021) which states that every person shall pay a normal fee of $20 through CBZ bank.
“A normal fee of $20 shall be charged for the application fee through CBZ bank countrywide,” reads the instrument.
With all Zimbabwean passports set to expire in December 2023, the current arrangement will see CBZ harvesting millions of dollars in bank fees.
Zimbabwe has an estimated six million passport holders and hundreds of thousands of yet to be processed applications.
Tempers flared at the Master of the High Court offices yesterday as relatives of the late RGM End Time Message church founder Robert Martin Gumbura haggled over the appointment of an executor for his estate.
Gumbura succumbed to COVID-19 in August this year after serving less than five years of his 40-year prison term for raping several female congregants.
The late cleric was serving his jail sentence at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, where he died, leaving behind a vast empire.
The issue pertaining to distribution of his estate was heard by Assistant Master of the High Court only named as Hamandishe, who was told that Gumbura’s 17 widows who were represented by Lovemore Madhuku were in favour of their nephew Chivimbiso Thomas Nyathi as the executor of the estate, while other family members that include the cleric’s brothers and sisters were allegedly in favour of Gumbura’s young brother, Innocent.
Gumbura’s widows appeared in court all dressed in black outfits and dark sunglasses.
They remained calm during the proceedings, while their aunties and the late Gumbura’s brothers spoke in high-pitched voices during the hearing.
Some of Gumbura’s children also came in solidarity with their mothers, and they supported their mothers’ choice of Nyathi as the executor of the estate.
Madhuku said the issue of who would be the executor had caused the hearing to take long to conclude.
“All the wives chose Gumbura’s nephew Chivimbiso Thomas Nyathi, but other relatives were totally against it. They wanted Gumbura’s brother Innocent to be the executor, that’s why the hearing took so long. But the master was very clear that the court has to take into account the views of potential beneficiaries,” Madhuku said.
He added that the next step was for Gumbura’s nephew to be formally appointed as executor of the estate before an advert of the late cleric’s estate will be published to enable debtors and creditors to come forth.
Gumbura’s brother insisted that he was the rightful executor since he played the role of father to the late pastor’s children.
He said he was the one who represented the children during the time his brother was in custody, in marriage ceremonies, and in all processes that required someone to play the father figure.
But Hamandishe told Innocent that the appointment of another executor did not necessarily mean that he would be stripped of his fatherly role.
Madhuku also applauded Gumbura’s official widow for accommodating her co-widows despite the fact that she was the only one who formally wedded the late convict.
Apart from the 17 widows, Gumbura left behind 34 children, an estate comprising a compound that includes a central home, multiple surrounding cottages and a church building.
Gumbura also had 11 houses, a farm, mine and a fleet of 20 vehicles.
He also left behind 18 minor children, with the youngest one aged seven.
He was initially slapped with a 50-year jail term, but 10 years were set aside on condition of good behaviour.
Gumbura was also convicted for possession of pornographic material.
At the time of his death, he was facing another charge of trying to break out of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.
The Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (Zinara) was on Sunday forced to temporarily suspend toll fees collection after a haulage truck crashed Esigodini tollgate injuring two employees.
The incident plunged the tollgate into darkness as infrastructure was destroyed.
A haulage truck driver who was coming from Gwanda heading to Bulawayo is said to have crashed into the tollgate structure soon after making the payment.
A Chronicle news crew visited the toll plaza yesterday afternoon and observed that the booth in the Gwanda-Bulawayo Lane had been destroyed.
Zinara employees were yesterday manually collecting the toll fees and putting the cash in bags.
Computers which they normally use to detect vehicle registration numbers were also damaged.
There was no electricity as cables were damaged as a result of the accident.
Zinara spokesperson, Mr Tendai Mugabe said the incident occurred just after 9PM. “It (the haulage truck) arrived at the tollgate and stopped at the toll point where the driver paid the toll fees.
When he was just about to leave the tollgate, we don’t know what happened he just accelerated and hit the tolling booth injuring our two cashiers,” said Mr Mugabe.
He said the truck crashed the barriers that protect the booth and in the process damaged the computers.
“It plunged the whole tolling site into darkness because the accident also affected electricity cables. We temporarily suspended toll fees collection and resumed manually later,” said Mr Mugabe.
He said Zinara technicians were on the ground to assess the damage and fix the problem.
The tollgate is being expanded into a four-way to reduce traffic congestion.

By Farai D Hove | It was a robbery but there was a lot of stage managing amid it all.
As the country experiences a spate of continuous armed robberies, legal academic Alex Magaisa has spoken over the sudden backfiring against the parly-looter, Thokozani Khupe who created her own MDC party and stole the political finance money allocated the country’s most popular party President Nelson Chamisa, last year May 2020.
Alex Magaisa
Comementing Tuesday morning, Magaisa said: “The problem with some robberies comes not at the time of stealing but at the stage of managing and sharing the loot.”
The development comes as it was revealed Khupe is currently making overtures to rejoin Chamisa at a time when she is also suing her sudden-nemesis Douglas Mwonzora..
On this Magaisa continued saying: “Some of us said it would end in tears and it’s not surprising that they are now tearing each other apart.
” None of them is entitled to the loot & they’re fighting!”

By A Correspondent- The South African government has withdrawn a circular sent to banks that prompted the banks to threaten to close the accounts of Zimbabweans who hold special permits known as Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEPs).
About 200 000 Zimbabweans hold special visas which had allowed them to stay in South Africa since 2009.
On 25 November, South Africa’s Cabinet issued a statement saying the special permits, which expire on 31 December 2021, will not be renewed.
It also announced a 12-month grace period for ZEP holders to apply for other permits that suit their circumstances and threatened to deport those who fail to do so.
However, in an interview on Monday, South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said the circular sent to banks was withdrawn because it created confusion.
He said permit holders still have the right to stay in the country for another 12 months and should therefore have access to their accounts.
South Africa’s cabinet resolved to end the exemption program after the governing ANC suffered its worst-ever electoral performance in municipal and national elections.
In the elections held on 1 November, ActionSA, an anti-immigrant party formed by former Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba, won 16% of the votes in the city in its first contest and a large proportion of the ballots in the capital, Pretoria.

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said no development act or project is too small or insignificant.
He made the remarks while defending the commissioning of Kudzanai Bus Terminus in Gweru Monday.
His remarks come at the backdrop of criticism from his critics who argue that some of the initiatives the president is commissioning could have been commissioned by his junior lieutenants.
They say he is desperate to be seen as championing development when there is little to show. He said: We all have a responsibility to play towards building our great country. No act or project is too small or too insignificant; brick by brick, stone upon stone let us arise and build our motherland, in line with Vision 2030. Bus companies & other transport operators must pick up passengers at designated pick-up &drop-off points, kwete zvekungomira kwese kwese [not waiting for transport from every corner]. A process is presently underway to support SMEs to construct modern bus stops which are safe & convenient for use by our people. This development is part of efforts to modernise our transport infrastructure. It follows a resolution by my Government, instructing all local authorities to take advantage of the Covid-19 induced lockdown to decongest, renovate and refurbish marketplaces.
The refurbishment of the Kudzanayi Long Distance Bus Terminus in Gweru commenced last year. The terminus was closed in 2020 for an upgrade after Gweru City Council partnered with a private contractor, Bentach Resources. It was partially opened in August this year. The refurbishment followed a 9th Cabinet Resolution for Local Authorities to take advantage of the lockdown to decongest, renovate and refurbish marketplaces.
By A Correspondent- MDC-T co-vice President Thokozani Khupe has approached the courts in a bid to stop party leader Douglas Mwonzora from recalling her from Parliament for demanding to see the party’s meeting minutes.
Khupe, through her lawyers, Monday filed an urgent chamber High Court application in Bulawayo.
Khupe had demanded minutes of the MDC-T National Council meeting held in Harare on 26 November 2021 during which she claims resolutions and recommendations were made to expel her and her allies.
Khupe alleges that some tribal remarks were made during the meeting.
In her court papers, she cites the Movement for Democratic Change, Mwonzora, Morhen Komichi (MDC-T chairperson), Purina Mupariwa (MDC-T Secretary-General), The Speaker of the National Assembly, The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, and the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, in that order, as 1st to 7th respondents. Meanwhile, Mwonzora has so far denied the allegations that he plots to recall his deputy.
Some reports say Khupe has been having talks with Nelson Chamisa, leader of rival MDC Alliance during which she allegedly proposed that she would like to join the party. Khupe, who is said has never been fine since her loss of the presidency to Mwonzora at last year’s chaotic congress, denies the allegations. MDC-T spokesperson, Witness Dube said there were no plans to recall Khupe adding that the party reserves the right to recall individuals who would have joined other parties.

By A Correspondent- South Africa dumped a plan that would have forced about 200 000 Zimbabwean Exemption Permit holders to leave the country.
The Department of Home Affairs gave no reason for withdrawing the cabinet’s Nov. 25 decision to end the permits.
The decision had drawn a chorus of complaints from human rights groups that threatened to mount a court challenge.
They argued that Zimbabweans who have been living in South Africa for more than a decade were going to be sent back to a country with few economic opportunities and high levels of political repression.
The exemption only applied to Zimbabweans who entered South Africa before the arrangement was enacted in 2009.
Sharon Ekambaram, head of the Refugee and Migrant Rights Programme at Lawyers for Human Rights in Johannesburg, welcomed the reversal. Ekambaram said:
It does call for a debate on how we manage movement in the region without infringing on peoples’ human rights and their dignity.
The plan had been to end the permit on December 31 and allow permit-holders to apply for different visas or be deported after 12 months. There are a few other permits they can apply for.
Ekambaram said previously in a letter signed by 46 organizations, that had the plan gone through, the Zimbabwean permit holders’ lives would have been disrupted.
Children were being denied the opportunity to register for school, employers refusing to renew work contracts, and banks denying services or withholding access to accounts.

THE ruling Zanu PF party yesterday turned the commissioning of the refurbished Kudzanayi Bus Terminus in Gweru into a campaign rally with hundreds of supporters attending the event clad in party regalia.
The event was officiated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was accompanied by former Vice-President Kembo Mohadi, Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Local Government minister July Moyo, and State Security minister Owen Ncube, among other senior party and government officials.
Mnangagwa commended the City of Gweru for spearheading the refurbishment of the bus terminus, which he said was in line with government’s vision 2030.
“I almost said you (MDC Alliance mayor and councillors) should always be there (because of the good work in refurbishing the bus terminus), but a Zanu PF member should be in charge,” Mnangagwa jokingly said.
“Gweru is living vision 2030 and this is commendable.
“The state-of-the-art infrastructure accommodates more than 500 vendors who were once operating in a chaotic environment.”
He said private players should come on board and implement similar ventures to uplift cities.
“Such infrastructure improves the working conditions of informal traders.
“But l urge you not to charge high fees for informal traders just because you now have a state-of-the-art terminus.
“You should charge fees that guarantee affordability and sustainability.
“ You should charge reasonable fees,” he said.
Muchinguri-Kashiri said the project had also benefited war veterans.
“We also have war veterans who are informal traders at the refurbished markets,” she said.

By A Correspondent- Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor John Mangudya said Zimbabwe has a single currency, the Zimbabwe dollar, and there is no currency called RGTS or Nostro.
Responding to Alpha Media Holdings chairman Trevor Ncube on the platform In Conversation with Trevor, Mangudya said the Zimbabwe dollar was the country’s sole currency.
Ncube had asked the central bank chief to shed light on the identity of the local currency since traders use various terms such as EcoCash, Nostro, Swipe, RTGS and bond, among others.
In response, Mangudya said:
Our local currency is called the Zimbabwe dollar. I always meet people who say RTGS, bond note, the local currency in Zimbabwe is called the Zimbabwe dollar
… The confusion comes from the fact that in 2019 when we separated the local currency from the foreign currency, and we had a Statutory Instrument 33 of 2019, we referred to the local currency as the RTGS, and subsequently changed to the local currency called the Zimbabwe dollar.
So there is Nostro, and such because people are perhaps too educated they use all kinds of acronyms.
Asked by Ncube if he was not worried about presiding over an economy where so many acronyms are used, Mangudya said:
It does not worry me, because there is diversity in Zimbabwe.
As long as we speak the same language, I know when they are referring to the RTGS, they are talking about the Zimbabwe dollar.
Maybe from this conversation, we need to change the narrative.
The narrative of our local currency is called the Zimbabwe dollar, and the foreign currency that we are using here, we normally use the US dollar, rand or British pounds, but predominantly in the market there is the US dollar, that is what is being used.
The other currencies can be accepted. There is nothing called Nostro.
Nostro, these are accounts for banks in foreign banks, these are foreign currency accounts.
So, in the foreign currency accounts, we have got foreign currency in those accounts, but we do not have Nostro.
So, people confuse again the term Nostro.
Nostro means our account with you in a foreign bank.
The opposite of Nostro is Vostro, which means their account in our box.
So, the term Nostro, what they are referring to because you still remember we had a virtual US dollar and money that was physical money in the Nostro accounts.
I empathise with the people of Zimbabwe, I empathise with them.
I know what they are referring to.
It does not bother me because I know exactly what they are saying, but for purposes of this conversation, it is local currency, foreign currency accounts and foreign currency.
Over 170 doctors and nurses at Mpilo Central Hospital and the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) are in isolation after testing Covid-19 positive, a development that is likely to cripple health care service delivery at Bulawayo’s two major referral hospitals.
.
The bulk of the health workers that have tested positive are nurses.
Dr Solwayo Ngwenya
The latest infections were recorded over the past two weeks, a trend which Mpilo Central Hospital acting chief executive officer Professor Solwayo Ngwenya said is worrying. Mpilo has recorded 77 cases and UBH 99 cases among health workers since the beginning of this month.
On Sunday, the country recorded 2 138 new cases and three Covid-19 related deaths with Bulawayo recording two deaths and 200 new infections.
According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care daily report, as of Sunday, the country had recorded 167 140 cases, 129 776 recoveries and 4 738 deaths since March last year. Active cases rose to 32 626 from 2 843 in 11 days.
Over the last two weeks, Bulawayo recorded 3 277 new Covid-19 cases, the highest being on December 9 when 679 cases were recorded in a single day. Five deaths were recorded in the metropolitan province during the same period.
Statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care show that by Saturday, a total of 242 Covid-19 patients had been hospitalised with 53 new admissions. At least 211 had mild to moderate symptoms, 24 severe and six were admitted in intensive care units (ICUs).
A total of 3 956 020 people had received their first Covid-19 vaccine while 2 976 972 had received their second jab countrywide.
Prof Ngwenya said they recorded 77 cases of infections among doctors and nurses.
“Since the beginning of December, we have 77 members of staff who were infected with Covid-19 and they self-isolated.
We are now being affected in terms of human resources and at the same time there is a rise in hospitalisation and this can only play out to be a disaster,” he said.
Prof Ngwenya said the high number of health care workers in isolation was affecting service delivery at the hospital which is now forced to operate with skeletal staff.
“We had a lot of infections among our staff and they had to go home on quarantine resulting in our services being crippled,” he said.
Prof Ngwenya said they recorded four Covid-19 deaths in the last four days.
“As our staff are on isolation, this affects our ability to render health care to the rising number of hospitalisations. Unfortunately, despite measures by Government to ensure workers have adequate PPEs, community transmissions are so high hence our workers are at risk as they use public transport and mingle with asymptomatic people who continue spreading the virus,” he said.
In July, 63 health workers comprising of doctors and nurses at Mpilo Central Hospital had to go on isolation after testing positive to Covid-19.
UBH acting chief executive officer Dr Harrison Rambanapasi said since the beginning of December, 99 doctors and nurses tested positive for Covid-19.
“Since the first of December we have had 99 health workers across the board including students testing positive and isolating at home. However, no staff member has been admitted, which means they are not very sick,” he said.
“If you look at the national statistics, the positivity rate at UBH is almost the same with the national one, which shows that the Omicron is highly transmissible.”
Dr Rambanapasi urged citizens to continue to get vaccinated and adhere to health regulations to curb the spread of the virus. The UBH has a workforce of more than 1 600.
“If you look at the issue of testing, logistically it is difficult to do mass testing in view of a workforce of more than 1 600. Testing them routinely might end up affecting service delivery as that means people will have to queue to get tested,” said Dr Rambanapasi.
“However, we only test those with symptoms and in the process of doing so, we have had a significant number of our staff testing positive for Covid.”
President Mnangagwa recently announced new lockdown measures.
Some of those measures include mandatory 10-day quarantine for all returning residents and visitors. The new regulations stipulate that everyone entering Zimbabwe must undergo a Covid-19 PCR test even when they produce a Covid-19-free certificate from elsewhere.
The President’s address was in response to reports of a new strain of Covid-19 virus which has been reported in many countries in Sadc and beyond.
Omicron has a high number of mutations, 32, in its spike protein, and preliminary evidence suggests an increased risk of reinfection, when compared with other variants of concern. –Chronicle
A five-year-old juvenile was found dead with some body parts missing in Nyanga in what her family suspects was a ritual murder.
Police yesterday confirmed the murder saying they were still investigating the matter after her remains were found in Nyanga on December 10.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating circumstances surrounding a murder case in which remains of a five-year-old female juvenile were found in Nyanga on December 10 2021, with some body parts scattered at the scene of crime,” police said in a statement.
They said the victim was reported missing on December 4, 2021 having been last seen in the company of a male suspect, who had been seen walking towards her residence.
The murder case happened hardly a year after another child, Tapiwa Makore (7), was killed and his body mutilated in a suspected ritual killing in Murewa.
By Farai Hove | An article circulated around the Zimbabwean community claiming that the South African government has reversed its decision to discontinue the Zimbabwe Presidential Exemption Permits.
Nicholas Mabena
This claim is untrue. The Chairperson of the Zimbabwean community in South African Nicholas Mabhena narrates this matter clarifying as at 2am Tuesday 14th December:
“Greetings everyone I have been just been reading online newspapers and … one gets to understand from journalists is the claim that the South African government has reversed its decision to discontinue the ZEP.
“On online media platforms, I find people celebrating that the decision by the South African cabinet not to renew the permits has been reversed, which is not true.
“Let’s get to understand this so that we do not mislead holders of the Zimbabwe exemption permit and also the problem is that in the world of social media, one of the challenges is that we rush to make announcements or we rush to scream out without understanding the directive or what is its meaning, and then will mislead the public.”
Mabhena spoke for over 20 minutes further revealing that nothing has changed. (Video below)
He said people should not be driven by what journalists say but by facts.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is appealing to members of the public to help in the identification of a man who drowned in Lake Chivero on Saturday.
ZRP said the deceased man’s body was found floating on Saturday after sunset. Pindula News presents the police statement on the case:
The ZRP is appealing to members of the public to assist in the identification of a male adult whose body was found floating in Lake Chivero on 12/12/21 at about 0900 hours. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
While swimming at the Lake is said to be “at own risk,” safety measures that were in place on Saturday were not enough to prevent drowning.
There were not enough barriers to block holidaymakers from going to the deep ends. Neither were there any Lake attendants to monitor the public.
This reporter witnessed some individuals, about three, swimming as far as 75 metres from the shores and one wonders what could have happened if one encountered difficulties whilst in the waters.
Some of the individuals in the Lake were visibly drunk.
The majority of swimmers were aged between 13 and 40 while the rest were either young kids who were with their parents or a few who were over 40.- Pindula News

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance vice president Hon Lynette Karenyi-Kore has urged young people in Chivi North Constituency to register to vote in numbers.
The Zanu PF rigging system will find it difficult to manipulate figures citizens vote in large numbers.
Addressing villagers and community leaders in Chivi on Saturday, Hon Karenyi-Kore described peasant farming as strenous and stressful.
” The MDC Alliance government will introduce modern farming methods. Our people are overworking yet what they produce is not enough to fend for their families,” said VP Karenyi-Kore .
“Yesterday, VP @KarenyiKore toured Chivi South where she met community leaders, participated in an event to mark #16Days& was invited by citizens to tour their fields & hear their concerns. Every homestead & every village is saying #NgaapindeHakeMukomana. #6MillionVotes,” MDC Alliance said in a statement.
The respected veteran novelist, playwright and film-maker, Aaron Chiundura-Moyo, has said he doesn’t have a consistent source of income.
The 67-year-old, who claims to be living by the grace of God in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, says his life is now taking care of itself.
Chiundura Moyo
He told H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle that he is no longer worried about what he will eat or drink when he wakes up.
“I don’t have a living formula now because a lot of things have changed in our lives as compared to the way we used to survive long back.
“Covid-19 and piracy have r eally affected us and we no longer have a consistent source of income despite all the books and scripts that we wrote for film and television.
“I have reached a point where I am no longer begging for help because no one is forth-coming.
“Zimbabweans have a belief that popular figures like us are never affected by the same problems our peers face and as a result, we are dying in our homes. We are suffering in our homes but the truth is that our fame does not translate into fortune,” he said.
Chiundura-Moyo who has resorted to online coaching clinics said they were also victims of failing to adjust to digitalisation.
“It’s sad that the world that we are living in has gone digital and some of us, the so-called serious writers we are still stuck in the past.
“Instead of embracing the new technology, some of us who still prefer using the pen and the typewriter are now paying the price.
“However, I have been advised to do online coaching clinics but it’s not paying as we used to do,” he said.
Chiundura-Moyo, who has written several Shona novels before and after independence, bemoaned lack of royalties from publishers for worsening their plight.
“We last received royalties long back and we have since forgotten whether they are still there because our sector has been hit by piracy.
“It’s sad to note that some of the books we have written which are set books are now being pirated I school.
“You will find the whole school studying photocopied set books, which has really affected us.
“Long back when your book was considered a set book, you will be guaranteed cash but now it has become a pipe dream,” he said.
The Glen View based writer said he was still conducting physical mentorship courses with indiviuals although it was not rewarding.
“There are some people who still flock my house for mentorship courses but some of them are poor and I can’t afford to brush them aside.
“There are however some who are serious, especially those aged between 25 years and above who are mature.
“I try by all means to assist these people but the majority want free things and I can’t assist all of them for free,” he said.
Despite the challenges he faces, Chiundura-Moyo says he would not throw in the towel.
“I can’t quit now but embrace new technology and even try to write and post my works online to remain relevant as is the case with the new crop of writers.
“I have noted that I can’t continue to be stuck in the past when I can easily adjust and embrace change.
“However, we are struggling to make ends meet and I don’t even know what I will eat tomorrow but my life is taking care of itself,” he said.
Chiundura-Moyo is one of the writers who has written several books, radio and television plays that are still as wonderful as ever but remain poor. -H Metro

Tinashe Sambiri|Fearless MDC Alliance vice chairperson Hon Job Sikhala has bluntly declared that everyone in Zanu PF is a murderer.
In a sharp statement on Twitter, Hon Sikhala slammed the Zanu PF regime for killing innocent citizens.
“The environment you are in shapes your mindset. I am a ghetto boy from St. Mary’s having grown up in a peasant set up. I grew up in opposition politics. It’s in my bloodstream.
Those who grew up around murderers become murderers themselves.
Everyone in ZPF is a murderer,” declared Hon Sikhala.
Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has been mocked for practically reducing himself to a ward councillor after officiating at the opening of Kudzanai Terminus in Gweru.
Mr Mnangagwa has a knack for officiating at relatively low key events.
Political observers say the Zanu PF leader should leave low key programmes to councillors and heads of responsible government departments.
Former MDC MP Jefferyson Chitando observed:
“What’s so special about Gweru Kudzanai Rank ?
This is daylight robbery. Mnangagwa, by officially opening the so called US$3 million Rank, he has endorsed corruption.
Mnangagwa must demand independent cost evaluation.”
Report on the demonstration against the presence of Mnangagwa at COP26 : By Deborah Harry
On the 31st of October 2021, myself, and a number of MDC Alliance members from the UK South West District took the long journey to Glasgow for a demonstration against the presence of the dictator of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa at the COP26 Summit.
Reasons for attending the demonstration There are several reasons why Emmerson Mnangagwa should not have been invited to attend this summit and below are a few of them:
• Mnangagwa does not care about ordinary Zimbabweans lives, let alone the future of the country and world. He knows nothing about climate change and if he did, he wouldn’t care about it unless there was personal gain for him and his close allies.
• Mnangagwa is leading as the most corrupt and ruthless leader in Zimbabwe’s history. A government that is looting resources, including mass deforestation being carried out by their Chinese network. Mass deforestation has been shown to worsen climate change.
• Mnangagwa is not the legitimate president of Zimbabwe, having taken power via a coup in 2017 and rigging the 2018 General Election for which he also sent the military to crush the 1.8. 2018 protests at which the people of Zimbabwe were demanding the results of the July harmonised elections. Many people from the MDC Alliance have been abducted, jailed, and killed by state agents under his rule. Zimbabweans know that this is not the person voted for by the majority, yet he was going to use his presence at COP26 seeking endorsement by the international community.
Since his rise to power by force, Mnangagwa has suspended all democratic processes including by-elections, arrested journalists and MDC Alliance members and officials as well as making it a criminal offence to organise or attend demonstrations. In the midst of this, Mnangagwa and Zanu PF created a fake opposition party that is rightfully being ignored by the Zimbabwean people.
Because of the above reasons and more, in particular the fact that people in Zimbabwe are no longer able to voice their opposition to Mnangagwa’s rule openly, it was very important that we attend the demonstration in Scotland and give a voice to the voiceless. We wanted to make it clear to Mnangagwa and the large entourage he brought over that we are not scared of him and will stand up to him in broad daylight.
Organisation and journey to the demo Because of the long distance to Scotland, as well as fears about Covid, attendance from people living in England was always going to be difficult. As such there were a few of us from Reading Branch who were able to make the trip. Nonetheless, at the demo, there were going to be several people and groups attending from all the four corners of the UK. As the Reading Branch organizing secretary, I co-ordinated with members who were attending the demo. Individuals were given suggestions on what to do and everyone was clear about their roles. My role was to get #Zanupfmustgo T-shirts. Norah Bomani purchased traveling tickets and designed banners. Abigail Makope made arrangements for our accommodation while Annah Chikoti organized the designs of flags with various massages.
The Journey We took the coach to Glasgow, and as expected the journey was long. We left England just before midnight on Sunday October 31st and arrived in Glasgow around 5 am on November 1st.
The Demonstration There were several groups in attendance at the demo were members from ROHR, ZHRO including MDC Alliance members from various districts in England and Scotland. Famous human rights campaigners and journalists were there namely Chief Ndiweni, Simba Chikanza from ZimEye. We were all singing and chanting anti Zanu PF songs while proudly carrying our placards. A number of passers-by were fascinated by our demo and so approached us asking for more information about the situation in Zimbabwe. Many were misinformed and were under the impression that Zimbabwe had improved since Mugabe left. We had to correct the false narrative by telling them the real truth, which is that Mnangagwa has proved to be even worse than Mugabe.
Overall, the demonstration was a success and was broadcasted live on ZimEye, followed by several hits on social media by Zimbabweans who are pleased to see Mnangagwa being exposed for what he really is, rejected by the people of Zimbabwe at the polls in July 2018 and for callously sending the Zimbabwe National Army on 1.8.2018 who killed six innocent citizens in broad daylight.
By A Correspondent- A security guard was shot and injured on Monday morning at the National Pharmaceutical (Natpharm) Company in Bulawayo in a suspected armed robbery incident.
The guard was rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment. Details were still sketchy as to how many robbers had tried to raid Natpharm.
The suspected armed robbers did not get away with anything in the process. When a Chronicle news crew arrived at the scene at about 8AM, police details had surrounded the premises and were collecting statements from those who were at the scene. But no one seemed to have much details on the raid with those at the scene saying the shot security guard was the only one who knew exactly what could have happened.
Royal Security chief inspector Mr Musafare Charasika said their security guard had been rushed to hospital following the shooting incident. “I don’t have the exact details as to what happened. What I have been told is that a driver employed by Natpharm only heard some sounds as he left the premises but did not think it was anything of concern. But when he returned a few minutes later, he found security officers from a neighbouring company at the scene while our security guard was lying on the ground saying he had been shot,” said Mr Charasika. He said it is not clear where the shooters were coming from. “No one knows how many raiders were there. It’s probably our guard who has all that information but he has been rushed to hospital for treatment,” he said. Natpharm spokesperson Mr Munyaradzi Musiiwa said the company will soon release a statement on the shooting incident.
NatPharm is a parastatal with a mandate to procure, store and distribute medicines and medical supplies to public health institutions across the country.
By A Correspondent- The police are investigating a suspected murder case after the remains of a five-year-old girl were found scattered on Nyanga mountain on Friday.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says the deceased was reported on 4 December while in the company of an unnamed 38-year-old male suspect. Said the police in a statement:
The ZRP is investigating circumstances surrounding a murder case in which remains of a five-year-old female juvenile were found on a mountain in Nyanga on 10/12/21, with some body parts seen scattered at the scene of the crime.
The victim, who had been reported missing on 4/12/21, was last seen in the company of a male suspect (38) walking towards the suspect’s residence. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police station.
By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said no development act or project is too small or insignificant.
He made the remarks at the commissioning of Kudzanai Bus Terminus in Gweru.

By A Correspondent- A 37-year-old Zimbabwean truck has been arrested by police in Mpumalanga, South Africa, for allegedly smuggling a consignment of counterfeit tekkies worth R3, 8 million from Mozambique.
The man whose identity is yet to be revealed was busted at the neighbouring country’s border with Mozambique (Lebombo) on Thursday last week. Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the man was allegedly found in possession of illicit tekkies packed in bales. “Reports indicate that members of the SAPS from Lebombo Border were on duty on the said day when they noticed a suspicious truck driven by a certain man,” said Brig Mohlala. “The truck was travelling from Mozambique into the country and the members then conducted a search leading to the discovery of various brands of sneakers starched inside. “The man, who is Zimbabwean, was then arrested and charged for possession of counterfeit goods”. He said the suspect is expected to initially appear at the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court today. The senior police officer said the truck, which is valued at R3, 5 million had been confiscated along with the counterfeit sneakers. The incident comes a few days when a 31-year-old Zimbabwean truck driver, Tonderai Moshayi, was arrested for attempting to run over a traffic police officer at the same border post. His fellow countrymen, Patrick Ncube (31), was also arrested after he attempted to bribe a senior traffic police officer with R4 000 in the Komatipoort area to secure Moshayi’s release. The matter is now under investigation by South Africa’s organised crime unit, the Hawks. Hawks spokesperson for Mpumalanga, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said the duo were expected to make their formal bail application at the Komatipoort Magistrates Court soon. “It is alleged that on 17 November 2021, Tonderai Moshayi from Zimbabwe who is a truck driver was at Lebombo Port of Entry when he bypassed other truck drivers who had queued for their turn to cross the border. He was stopped by the traffic police for a routine inspection of the truck. When the routine check was done, it was discovered that the truck had an expired disc,” she said. After which, Moshayi was asked about the documents of the truck, and he became violent and drove away nearly running over the traffic officer. He was then pursued and he stopped the truck, and locked himself inside the truck, refusing to talk to the traffic police officers. The man only gave in at the persuasion of his employer in Limpopo province. He was arrested and charged for attempted murder and operating an un-roadworthy vehicle. “On the following day, other Zimbabwean truck drivers contributed an amount of R4 000 and allegedly went to approach the traffic officer, who had arrested Moshayi to secure his release. “It is further alleged that they initially promised to give R10 000. The traffic officer reported to the Hawks that he was being offered a bribe and a trap was set leading to Ncube’s arrest when he came to deliver the bribe money,” said Capt Sekgotodi. Herald
By A Correspondent- Transport operators have hiked fares due to the worsening fuel shortages.
Transport operators hiked fares by over 100%, with a local route usually pegged at $60 now costs $200.
It has also resulted in the black market fuel resurfacing, with five litres going for US$12, up from US$7. Last week, government said the fuel shortages were being caused by maintenance works at Beira in Mozambique. Operators plying the Harare-Bulawayo route increased their fares from US$15 to US$25, while those plying rural routes also increased their fares. The Passengers Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) yesterday warned unscrupulous operators, adding the unsanctioned increases were a cause of concern. They urged government to intervene. PAZ president Tafadzwa Goliath said: “Fares can only increase if there is a fuel hike, and also if government has approved it. People do not have money, they were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, and they are still incapacitated. The operators should understand all this and be kind to the passengers.” Goliath said transport operators should desist from taking advantage of passengers by sticking to their normal fares since salaries were too low, and they were already languishing in poverty. However, he said some operators were forced to increase fares due to the high demand of transport sparked by the fuel shortages. “Transporters overcharge commuters during the festive season due to demand. They also want to profit in anticipation of huge volumes of travellers during the festive season. But we don’t encourage the illegal hikes,” Goliath said. He warned travellers against using private transport, adding that they should adhere to World Health Organisation set regulations and protocols to avoid contracting COVID-19. Government last week said the fuel crisis was being addressed, adding that the situation would normalise beginning today. Motorists have, however, been hoarding the precious liquid in anticipation of a dry festive season. Newsday

Benjani Mwaruwari has been given a new mandate with the national U23s team.
The former Manchester City striker will take charge of the Young Warriors, replacing Tonderai Ndiraya.
Mwaruwari’s new job automatically places him as one of the three assistant coaches in the senior men’s national team set-up. This marks his return to the Warriors fold after his departure in September following the dissolution of the entire technical led by Zdravko Logarusic.
He will work under coach Norman Mapeza, who has renewed his contract ahead of the Afcon 2021 tournament next month.
The other two assistant coaches in the Warriors set-up are Taurai Mangwiro and Mandla Mpofu. – Soccer24 Zimbabwe
The available contingent of the Warriors squad for Afcon 2021 will go into camp on 23 December in Harare.
Forty players were named in the provisional squad but a couple of them have already withdrawn. These include Tendayi Darikwa, who pulled out on personal reasons, the injured duo of Marshall Munetsi and Brendan Galloway, and Tawanda Maswanhise, who failed to secure his local passport on time.
Khama Billiat announced his retirement from international football in November but efforts to convince him to reconsider his decision for the tournament are on.
The technical set-up consists of Norman Mapeza, Rodwell Dhlakama, Mandla Mpofu and Benjani Mwaruwari.
The team is set to depart for Cameroon on 29 December with the UK-based midfielder Marvelous Nakamba set to link up with the rest of the team after 3 January.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the sacking of head coach Gernot Rohr just weeks before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Rohr had been in charge of the Super Eagles for three years. He leaves the West Africans after failing to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Former Nigeria national team captain Augustine Eguavoen will take over coaching duties on an interim basis.

The contract negotiations between Jordan Zemura and his club Bournemouth have been placed on hold until the end of the season.
The two parties held initial talks in October about the future of the Zimbabwean whose deal is expiring in June 2022.
However, according to coach Scott Parker, the negotiations have been frozen and will only resume when the campaign ends to avoid any distraction on the player’s performances.
The gaffer told the Bournemouth Daily Echo newspaper: “We’re parking it and will speak about that towards the end of the season.
“As it stands, at this moment in time, I think that’s best for everyone. I think that’s probably best for the two boys (Zemura and Jaidon Anthony) as well.
“I said on the onset of those negotiations, that I didn’t want it to go over a certain amount of time. I didn’t want them to be distracted.
“These are two young boys that are still striving to make a career and they’re still striving to make inroads.
“However well they’ve done, they’ve done well in half a season and the reason they’ve done so well is because their main focus has been football, football, football and a desperation to stay in a team and get in the team.
“That’s exactly where I want their heads to be.”
Full-back Zemura played every minute for Cherries in the Championship this season, before suffering an ankle injury in a 2-0 victory at Reading which has kept him out of action.

By A Correspondent- MDC-T deputy leader Thokozani Khupe is reportedly having talks with MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa with the intention of joining the party.
ZimLive reports that talks between Khupe and MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa have caused ructions in the MDC-T which is reportedly planning to recall her from parliament. MDC-T has dismissed reports of a plot to recall her.
MDC-T insiders say Khupe never fully accepted her defeat at the December 2020 Congress which saw her losing the presidency to Douglas Mwonzora. ZimLive quotes an anonymous MDC Alliance official as saying:
The lines of communication between the Khupe and the MDC Alliance leadership are very open, and very busy.
Khupe’s growing disquiet opened a flank for Chamisa to woo her back into the fold as he bids to strengthen the MDC Alliance in Matabeleland, where Khupe remains a political force.
Chamisa has also reached out to other MDC founding leaders in Matabeleland including former chairman Lovemore Moyo and the former organising secretary Abednico Bhebhe, who joined him on his tour of Matabeleland South last month.
Chamisa’s spokesman Nkululeko Sibanda said Chamisa wants to lead this country and building a nation is not a partisan enterprise. He added:
His focus is to get every citizen to support change.
The MDC Alliance stands ready to welcome all comrades who underestimated Douglas Mwonzora’s complicity and connivance with the regime to frustrate change.
Khupe’s spokesman Ntando Ndlovu denied that she has held talks with the MDC Alliance. Ndlovu said:
Dr Khupe would like to place it on record that she has never held any discussions with any party about working together or anything of the sort.
These reports come after Khupe’s lawyers wrote to the MDC-T secretary-general Paurina Mupariwa on December 6 raising concerns about a resolution allegedly passed by the party’s national council to recall her and her supporters from parliament.
The lawyers claimed a national council meeting held on November 26 passed a resolution “to recall Dr Khupe and others from parliament and local authorities” and that the intended recalls “are due any time.”
MDC-T spokesman Witness Dube said:
It is entirely open for speculation why madam vice president Khupe would come out of a national council meeting only to seek an audience with her lawyers about what she calls plots to remove her from parliament.
He denied the alleged plot to recall members adding that the MDC-T, however, reserves the right to recall members who on various grounds including joining other political parties.

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced the arrest of a machete and spear-wielding gang over the murder that occurred in Filabusi last week.
The victim was reportedly assaulted for trespassing and died a few metres away from the scene after trying to escape. A police statement reads:
The ZRP confirms the arrest of Farai Mpunzi (40), Ndodana Sibanda (30), Mqondisi Sibanda (30), Aneli Sibanda (25), Obvious Nyoni (26) and Luckmore Ncube in connection with a case of murder that occurred at Bunyip Mine, Filabusi on 10/12/21 at around 1900hrs.
The six suspects, who were armed with machetes and spears, attacked Eric Mahlangu (22) over allegations of trespassing. One of the suspects stabbed the victim on the right thigh with a spear.
The victim tried to escape but collapsed and died a few metres from the scene of the crime.
Violence has been commonplace in mining towns, especially amongst artisanal miners, with some emanating from boundary disputes. In some instances, some machete-wielding gangs would just descend on mines with the intention of stealing the ore.
Dozens have been arrested since 2019 when there was a surge in crimes committed by machete-wielding gangs
By A Correspondent- The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed a Parliamentary committee that COVID-19 booster doses should be taken after nine months of full vaccination.
India Today reports that the ICMR chief Balram Bhargava claimed that a booster shot can be given nine months after both doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered.
While in a recent study, a team of ICMR scientists suggested the use of the Covishield COVID-19 vaccine as a booster shot, noting a reduction in efficacy against the Delta derivatives. An excerpt from the paper reads:
Our findings suggest that the Covishield vaccine was able to neutralize Delta derivatives and prevent serious disease and fatality among breakthrough cases. A booster dose vaccination of Covid-19 naïve vaccinees would achieve a protective immune response to fight against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants.
Speaking on booster doses, India’s Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia said they have two expert groups in the country, who advise them on vaccination.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe has already started administering booster doses for frontline workers and citizens with chronic diseases.
A booster shot occurs when a vaccinated individual is further jabbed to increase their immunity.

This is happening barely a week after a 25-year-old Shamva man was been arrested for kidnapping a 4-year-old girl whom he dumped on a nearby mountain after stripping her naked.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) say Tatenda Amon left a beer bottle and his hat which were used to identify him.
Some of the many reported cases of abduction and murder of children have reportedly been for ritual purposes.
The most known case is that of Tapiwa Makore, a seven-year-old Murehwa boy who was murdered gruesomely, by his uncle in September last year.
By A Correspondent-The Zanu PF government has announced that it has set aside $500 million for MDC-T President Douglas Mwonzora and Emmerson Mnangagwa in Political Party Funding.
The money would be shared based on the number of constituency seats in the National Assembly. According to Treasury’s blue book, which goes into the ultra-fine detail of how the Budget is spent, qualifying political parties have been allocated $500 million, with the threshold being five percent of the total votes in a general election.
Only Zanu PF and MDC-T led by Senator Douglas Mwonzora qualify. Zanu PF is set to get away with the largest share of the money given that it enjoys a comfortable two thirds majority in the National Assembly. A rough calculation depicts that Zanu PF will get almost $400 million while MDC-T will pocket at least $100 million. The Mwonzora-led MDC-T assumed the status of official opposition after the Supreme Court nullified in a civil case the elevation of MDC-Alliance leader Mr Nelson Chamisa to the party leadership.
The court had to work with the MDC-T’s own constitution in the civil action, and found that under that party’s own rules Mr Chamisa was not the party leader. The party was told to run a proper congress under its own rules to settle its leadership, and that was won by Senator Mwonzora who took over from Dr Thokozani Khupe who was the interim leader following the law suit. The finding in a High Court civil suit that the MDC-Alliance was simply an electoral pact, not a proper political party that had superceded the parties that formed the pact, allowed the MDC-T to insist that those successful legislators and councillors nominated by the MDC-T in the pact lists had to either accept the legal position of the MDC-T or be recalled. Since then, the MDC-T has been receiving the opposition share of the Government funding under the Political Parties Finance Act. Government promulgated Political Parties Finance Act after it emerged that some opposition parties were receiving funding from foreign governments and organisations as party of covert operations to achieve regime change. Political parties can now receive lawful funding through Government grants under the Act, sale of party cards, fundraising activities and from its members.
Government has since gazetted the Private Voluntary Organisation’s Amendment Bill that prohibits Non Government Organisation’s from campaigning for political parties or candidates. The Bill, now before Parliament and is set to be subjected to public hearing by Parliament came after it emerged that civic society and NGOs were being used as conduits for illegal activities by some political parties and hostile foreign agencies.
By A Correspondent-Matabeleland South provincial development coordinator, Latiso Dlamini has been ordered to pay about half a million Zimbabwe dollars in damages in a case where she was sued for engaging in an adulterous affair with an army general.
Siboniso Lesley Maseko (nee Gumede) filed a lawsuit against Dlamini in December 2019 accusing her of having a love affair with her husband Brigadier General Simo Maseko. Siboniso, who said their marriage was solemnised in terms of Chapter 5:11 of the Marriages Act on December 20, 1998 claimed $500 000 in damages in her lawsuit. Dlamini filed opposing papers challenging the lawsuit through her lawyers Dube-Banda, Nzarayapenga and Partners. In her defence, Dlamini said she was not aware that the army general was married. Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Maxwell Takuva last week ruled against Dlamini. “Defendant has not indicated what she considers to be a reasonable and fair award in the circumstances. “However, defendant has conceded that the level of damages must be in line with previous awards and guides in similar cases,” Takuva said. “In the circumstances, I find that plaintiff has suffered damages for contummelia in the sum of $200 000 and loss of comfort, society and companionship of her husband in the sum of $200 000. “Accordingly, it is ordered that the defendant pays to the plaintiff $400 000 being (a) $200 000 damages for contummelia and (b) $200 000 for loss of consortium. “Interest of 5% per annum from date of summons to date of full payment..” Siboniso said she discovered that Dlamini and her husband had been seeing each other since 2017. Court papers show that Maseko had portrayed himself as a divorcee after producing a divorce certificate from a previous marriage. “Despite knowledge of their marriage and demands for her to discontinue with her adulterous relationship with plaintiff’s husband, the defendant has nonetheless persisted. “As a result, the plaintiff has suffered damages for contummelia in the sum of $200 000 and loss of comfort, society and companionship of her husband in the sum of $200 000,” the summons read in part. In her plea, Dlamini argued an adultery lawsuit was outdated. “The defendant’s starting point is that a claim for damages for adultery is outdated and a strain to the constitutions in the world. “Defendant listed a number of countries where the claim has been abolished or restricted.” After Dlamini was sued for adultery damages, Maseko filed a divorce against his wife of 21 years arguing that he had lost affection having been in separation for three years. In divorce papers before the court, the top soldier said their marriage had irretrievably broken down such that there were no prospects of restoring it to a normal relationship. During the subsistence of the marriage, the parties acquired both movable and immovable properties, which include two houses located in Bulawayo and Gweru, two cars, a Mazda B1800 and a Forton double cab, 70 cattle, 30 goats and household property. By A Correspondent-A woman from Pumula South suburb has obtained a protection order against her former husband, who habitually posts her nude images on social media and physically assaults her.
Thabeth Moyo (36) separated from her husband Mandla Nkolomi (39) and went to live with her parents.
However, Nkolomi would visit Moyo and demand to be intimate with her and when she refuses, he would hurl unprintable words at her.
Nkolomi insists on being intimate with his ex-wife telling her that he paid lobola and she was still his wife because their eight-year marriage has not been formally dissolved.
He forcibly took her phone and sent all her nude images to his phone. Nkolomi is now posting her nudes on Facebook and WhatsApp.
Moyo said when her ex-husband’s friends see her with any man, they would inform him and then he would phone her, and call her a prostitute. In her founding affidavit, Moyo said:
I have been married to Mandla Nkolomi for the past eight years. We separated in May this year because he was physically, verbally and psychologically abusing me. I’m now staying with my parents.
He usually comes to my parents’ place and demands to sleep with me. When I refuse he would become angry and would assault me with fists.
He took my phone and is now sending my nude pictures on WhatsApp groups and Facebook to ruin my reputation. He is also in the habit of shouting obscenities at me.
Magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube granted Moyo a protection order against her former husband.
She ordered Nkolomi not to physically, verbally and psychologically abuse Moyo and to stop sending her images on WhatsApp groups and Facebook.
By A Correspondent- Green Gables High School, a private school on the outskirts of Bulawayo has reportedly expelled five pupils who were involved in fights and bullying in the past few weeks.
The school head, a Mr Mugawa declined to comment but sources at the institution confirmed that the school had to take the drastic measure after numerous reports of bullying were reported. Director Advocacy and Communication in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Mr Taungana Ndoro said the problem was being handled through the Learner Welfare, Psychological Services and Special Needs Department. “We have over 9 778 schools in the country and every school has an incident register. This problem is being handled through robust guidance and counselling services by our Learner Welfare, Psychological Services and Special Needs
Department. Violence and bullying occurs because of different traumas and anxieties that learners may be facing,” he said. Sources, however, told Sunday News that five pupils were initially suspended for two weeks with four of them currently facing assault charges for severely bashing the fifth pupil, who has also been expelled. The source said parents are angry over how the school is being run and are calling for the dismissal of the head. Problems at the school came to light when four boys assaulted another until he needed hospitalisation overnight.
According to medical records seen by this publication, the victim had a swollen face, scalp laceration, 2cm x 0.5cm raccoon eye, swollen feet as well as bruises on the back and shoulders. The medical report also read that the injuries could have been caused by a blunt instrument. The degree of force used to inflict the injuries was severe. The injuries caused were serious and posed “potential danger to life” because the head injuries suffered are associated with intracranial bleeding, but no permanent disability is expected to result from the assault. The source said the boys were all expelled on Monday when they appeared before the school headmaster having served their suspensions. Issues with the headmaster’s handling of this and other cases came to a head when he allowed the four attackers to remain in school during their suspension, but refused the victim the same privilege. “Parents began to question the headmaster’s sincerity in the matter when he allowed the four boys who had brutally attacked their school mate to be at school during their two-week suspension but refused to allow their victim the same opportunity,” revealed the source.
The source said until the publication of the incident in last Sunday’s edition of this publication, most parents were not aware of the violence that has become regular at the school. It is reported that they have been making frantic efforts to get clarity regarding the safety of their children while also accusing the headmaster of favouritism. The headmaster allegedly tried to sweep the four boys’ assault of the Lower Sixth pupil under the carpet until it became clear that medical attention was required. It is believed that only after the victim was taken to Pelandaba Clinic and a doctor in attendance had recommended that the boy be transferred to Mpilo Central Hospital where a police report was required did details of the incident come to light. One parent who spoke to Sunday News said they were worried about the manner in which the headmaster handles matters to do with violence at the school. She said the headmaster had shown favouritism with impunity.
By A Correspondent-Zanu PF and MDC-T will next year share the $500 million Treasury allocated under the Political Parties Finance Act with the split based on the number of constituency seats in the National Assembly.
By Showbiz Reporter | The man previously engaged to the comedian Mai Titi, only identified as Obina, has been pictured with a child on his back.

The two were engaged for nearly a year after the socialite had jumped from the now UK based Zizoe, and before trying her luck on a popular Congolese singer. She was unsuccessful and then tried to smear his reputation only to be humiliated on live camera by her own witnesses, she was hoping would back her sensational allegations.

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has targeted farms that the former President Robert Mugabe loyalists own.
The state media Sunday reported that Mnangagwa had identified more than 220 000 such farms for repossession.
Sources said Mnangagwa was using the Zimbabwe Land Commission to pretend as if they are carrying out a land audit to justify the repossession of these farms.
The state media said the Zimbabwe Land Commission (ZLC) had deployed teams of auditors to probe and locate these farms.
By A Correspondent- Zanu PF supporters reportedly put former President Robert Mugabe and the party’s former national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere images on their WhatsApp groups.
Kasukuwere relocated to South Africa in the aftermath of the November 2017 military coup that toppled Mugabe and replaced him with Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Tyson, as he is also known, has been linked to a plan to challenge Mnangagwa in the 2023 general elections, a move that has reportedly polarised Zanu PF structures.
A party insider told The Standard that secretary for war veterans Douglas Mahiya a fortnight ago told party members that a decision had been taken to suspend anyone, who will be found having links to Kasukuwere.
Mahiya made the announcement during a meeting that was to announce the elevation of Harare Provincial Affairs minister, Oliver Chidawu into the politburo at the ruling party’s Harare headquarters. Said an unnamed party official:
There is a memo advising party structures that anyone, who is found supporting Kasukuwere will be suspended from the party.
Mahiya told party structures that anyone found with Kasukuwere’s picture on their WhatsApp status or party group icons will be suspended. This also included Mugabe’s picture.
The party wants to dilute Kasukuwere’s perceived support base in the ruling Zanu PF party.
It was made clear that all meetings should denounce Kasukuwere and the G40 cabal without fail and anyone who is seen posting pictures of him, even with Mugabe in that picture, should face disciplinary action.
Mahiya is said to have taken the same message to other provinces to try to destroy Kasukuwere’s perceived support within the party structures.
Reports indicate that Zanu PF is using mostly 2014 party structures that worked with Kasukuwere as the commissar.
By A Correspondent- OVER 800 drug addicts have been admitted into rehabilitation centres this year after developing mental disorders associated with drug abuse, official data shows.
Statistics obtained from the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse show that the CID Drugs and Narcotics Unit has arrested over 1 150 alleged criminals for drug-related offences this year.
Police have also recovered drugs, including the highly addictive crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and ecstasy, valued at over $2 million.
The high-level committee was set up by President Mnangagwa earlier this year after realising the negative effects drugs were having on society. Co-chair of the committee, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Secretary Mr Simon Masanga, told The Sunday Mail that Government was rolling out several interventions to curb drug abuse among young people. “A Drug and Substance Abuse Unit has been set up and social development officers have been seconded to establish the unit whilst the Ministry awaits approval from the Public Service Commission to create a dedicated and official establishment to that end,” he said. “Provision of psycho-social support (PSS) and other services is currently on-going at the Department of Social Development district offices. “The Ministry of Social Welfare is in the process of establishing its first pilot in-house PSS Centre dedicated to drug and substance abuse in Harare Province within the DSD district offices. Identification, referral and case management of children through the National Case Management System is on-going and children identified are referred to appropriate services per need.”
According to the committee’s progress report, police arrested 192 drug dealers and 383 users between January and October. The CID Narcotics Unit also recovered 343 grammes of crystal meth worth $328 946, about 4,32 grammes of cocaine valued at $109 000 and 36 ecstasy tablets worth $37 000. In addition, 53,98 kilogrammes of dagga valued at $1,2 million were also recovered, while 1 772 bottles of Broncleer cough syrup worth $648 000 were also impounded over the same period. Police also recovered huge volumes of Adco-Saltarpyn, an analgesic medication containing codeine, Benylin and Histalix cough syrups. -State media

The Johanne Masowe apostolic sect member, Hatirarame Momberume, who was dragged before the courts to face murder and rape charges after he married a minor, Anna Machaya who died while giving birth, has reportedly disappeared.
His lawyer, Brian Majamanda of Khupe and Chijara Law Chambers told NewsDay that he did not know the whereabouts of his client, who was issued with a warrant of arrest last week after he skipped his first trial session.
Machaya died on July 15 this year during labour at a church shrine in Marange, Manicaland province.
Momberume was recently granted $50 000 bail by High Court judge Justice Isaac Muzenda before a trial date was set.
However, Momberume failed to turn up in court last week, resulting in a warrant of arrest being issued against him by acting Mutare provincial magistrate Richard Ramaboea.
Majamanda, his lawyer, showed up at the courts alone.
“Currently, we don’t know his whereabouts (Momberume). He has a warrant of arrest issued on him. I will give you more feedback tomorrow (today), I have been trying to call him, but his phone is not reachable,” the lawyer said.
According to the State, Momberume unlawfully caused the death of Machaya by failing to take her to a medical facility to receive medical care during labour.
Mombeume, instead, took Machaya to the Johanne Marange sect’s midwives, where she delivered, but died after complications.
He hid the news of Machaya’s death and proceeded to bury her without notifying authorities.
In order to cover up for the offence, he allegedly claimed that the person who had died was Memory Machaya, born on January 2, 1999.
Investigations later revealed that the person married to the accused was, indeed, Anna, a minor, leading to his arrest.- Newsday
