Mai Mazowe Faces Allegations of Fraud in COS Paper Scandal

By Showbiz Reporter | A UK businesswoman popularly known as Mai Mazowe has been accused of charging a female complainant GBP4,000 for a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) paper that has not been produced even after a year. The victim, who is now being denied by Mai Mazowe, reveals that an additional GBP3,000 was demanded under the pretext of increased COS expenses.

The accused, Mai Mazowe and her team, are reportedly traveling around the world, leading to questions about the misuse of the funds. Despite acknowledging receipt of the money, Mai Mazowe is allegedly evading responsibility, leaving the victim in distress.

The situation escalated when the victim received a message instructing her to seek help elsewhere, raising concerns about the fairness of the entire transaction. The community is urged to raise awareness and demand accountability in this case, emphasizing the impact on a woman in Africa who is now suffering due to the exorbitant charges.

Mai Mazowe’s role as the project owner and the alleged accomplice’s involvement are now under investigation. ARE YOU ALSO AFFECTED? CONTACT ZIMEYE NOW

Mnangagwa Allies Rig Bhora-Musango Hearings

By Online/James Gwati-A group of Zanu PF leadership in Midlands province aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s faction are plotting to block hearings for ED allies who face potential expulsion from the party for protest votes in the August 23 National elections.

Tensions have surged as the Mnangagwa faction endeavours to obstruct disciplinary proceedings against those who lost in primary elections and allegedly sought protest votes against the winning candidates in the August 23 polls.

An initial memo from acting Zanu PF Midlands provincial chairperson Edson Chiherenge announced disciplinary hearings for December 6.

However, in a subsequent memo, Chiherenge abruptly cancelled the scheduled hearings, stating, “All notices of hearings and prohibition orders issued out are no longer valid.”

Sources indicate that the directive to block the hearings originated from higher offices at the party headquarters in Harare, particularly due to concerns that Mnangagwa allies, including Justice Mayor Wadyajena, could face disciplinary action.

Wadyajena, accused of sabotaging campaign rallies and canvassing protest votes, had been suspended after losing in the primaries.

The cancellation of hearings has sparked division within the party, with insiders expressing dismay over the perceived compromise of party principles.

Concerns are raised about the weakening of the party due to a lack of consequences for indiscipline, heightening tension within Zanu PF.

Critics argue that the absence of visible punishment for those who erred before the August 23 elections impedes internal healing and disrupts party affairs in the Midlands.

Discontent is exacerbated by historical controversies, such as the exemption of Mnangagwa’s allies from challenges in the primary elections earlier this year.

The turmoil extends to accusations of rigging in various constituencies and the imposition of candidates ahead of elections.

Recent developments, wherein Mnangagwa’s allies are pardoned before disciplinary hearings, worsen existing tension within the ruling party in the Midlands province.

The situation prompts reflection on Zanu PF’s internal dynamics, with concerns raised about the impact on party unity and the potential consequences for the upcoming general elections.

Six Die In Warren Park Horror Crash

James Gwati- In a devastating incident on Friday, six individuals lost their lives in a horrific crash that occurred on the Harare-Bulawayo Road near the National Museum of African Liberation in Harare.

The tragic event unfolded close to Warren Park 1 High School.

According to official reports from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the fatal accident transpired at approximately 6:00 PM on December 15, 2023.

The collision involved two commuter omnibuses, specifically a Toyota Hiace carrying 15 passengers, a Nissan Caravan, and an AVM bus.

The ZRP confirmed that the accident resulted in the death of six people, with an additional 10 individuals sustaining injuries.

The collision occurred when a Toyota Hiace kombi, carrying 15 passengers, collided head-on with a Nissan Caravan kombi, which had three passengers on board and was traveling toward Harare CBD.

Following this initial collision, the Toyota Hiace subsequently struck an AVM bus with three passengers, also heading toward Harare CBD.

The tragic incident unfolded as the Toyota Hiace had crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic.

The deceased victims were transported to the Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the injured survivors are currently receiving treatment at the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

Eyewitness Justice Mhishi, who was driving behind the bus involved in the accident, recounted the chaotic scene.

Mhishi and others attempted to assist the injured victims, with one woman expressing her concern for her children before succumbing to her injuries. Mhishi shared the heartbreaking details, stating, “I was behind the bus. We tried our best to extract people. One woman was vomiting blood, the only words she said were ‘ko VANA VANGU’ (what about my kids), and she died after that. One woman lost two kids in my eyes.”

As the festive season often witnesses a surge in road accidents, it is imperative for all road users, including motorists and pedestrians, to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations.

Factors contributing to these accidents include increased traffic volume, driver fatigue, drunk driving, speeding, and the presence of inexperienced or unlicensed drivers.

It is crucial for individuals to plan their journeys, ensure adequate rest, abstain from alcohol while driving, adhere to speed limits, and remain vigilant of fellow road users.

Botswana MPs Reject Mnangagwa Passport Free proposal

By- In a bold move, Botswana’s Members of Parliament (MPs) have vehemently opposed a proposed travel agreement with Zimbabwe, which would allow citizens of both nations to cross borders using national identity cards instead of passports.

The announcement by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa during his recent visit to Botswana sparked public outrage and concern among legislators.

While Botswana already has a similar arrangement with Namibia, lawmakers clarified that extending such privileges to Zimbabwe is met with strong resistance. The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Annah Mokgethi, addressed the issue in Parliament amidst growing public backlash, stating that no signed agreement was in place to implement the proposed initiative.

Mokgethi emphasized, “I wish to clarify this statement and set the record straight that there is no signed agreement to effect this initiative.”

She reassured the citizens that the concept appreciated by the two leaders did not automatically grant the use of IDs for cross-border travel.

Mokgethi outlined a series of processes and procedures, including the adoption of regulatory standards and the establishment of a memorandum of agreement with exit clauses, before any implementation could take place.

Opposition leader Dithapelo Keorapetse expressed surprise at President Masisi’s decision, criticizing the lack of consultation with relevant stakeholders.

“We don’t know who President Masisi was representing when he reached this agreement with Mnangagwa or the government of Zimbabwe,” Keorapetse remarked.

MP Wynter Mmolotsi raised concerns about the potential repercussions, particularly in border areas where resources are strained due to an influx of Zimbabweans.

Mmolotsi pointed out that the health system in Francistown, a city near the border, is already overburdened, and unrestricted travel could exacerbate the situation.

Questions about the practicality of using machine-readable identity cards instead of passports and concerns about potential bureaucratic complications were raised by MPs like Unity Douw.

Some legislators suggested prioritizing passport-free travel agreements with countries like South Africa and Zambia before considering such arrangements with Zimbabwe.

The proposed scrapping of passport requirements between Botswana and Zimbabwe has drawn attention to the economic challenges in Zimbabwe, prompting many citizens to seek opportunities in neighbouring countries.

The potential agreement, if implemented, would primarily benefit Zimbabweans who have long sought refuge from their country’s struggling economy.

Botswana MPs Undress Mnangagwa

By- Botswana Members of Parliament have opposed a proposed agreement allowing travel between Botswana and Zimbabwe using national identity cards instead of passports.

While Botswana already has a similar arrangement with Namibia, legislators have clarified that they do not support extending it to Zimbabwe.

Emmerson Mnangagwa the President of Zimbabwe, announced the proposal during a visit to Botswana.

However, due to public backlash, the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Annah Mokgethi, clarified in Parliament that no signed agreement was in place, according to VOA News. Mokgethi said:

I wish to clarify this statement and set the record straight that there is no signed agreement to effect this initiative. Given this background, Batswana are assured that by a concept being appreciated by the two leadership does not mean the people of the two countries can now use their IDs to cross into their countries. There are processes and procedures to be undertaken to ensure and qualify validity of all necessary requirements for travel, locally, regionally, and internationally before implantation can take place. Most importantly upon adoption of acceptance of regulatory standards, the two countries will enter into a memorandum of agreement that has clauses including cancellation or exit in the event, concerns of violation arise during implementation.

Opposition leader Dithapelo Keorapetse said it was surprising that President Masisi had not consulted relevant stakeholders before making such a decision. He said:

We don’t know who President Masisi was representing when he reached this agreement with Mnangagwa or the government of Zimbabwe.

MP Wynter Mmolotsi raised concerns about the potential consequences of the arrangement, particularly in areas closer to the border, where there is already strain on resources due to an influx of Zimbabweans.

He pointed out that the health system in Francistown, a city near the border, is already overburdened, and opening up travel without proper consideration could exacerbate the situation.

Other MPs, like Unity Douw, questioned the practicality of using machine-readable identity cards instead of passports and wondered if it would create additional bureaucratic complications.

Some MPs suggested that Botswana prioritize negotiating passport-free travel agreements with countries like South Africa and Zambia before considering such an arrangement with Zimbabwe.

Due to the collapsed Zimbabwean economy, many Zimbabweans have sought opportunities in Botswana and other neighbouring countries including South Africa.

The proposed scrapping of passport requirements between the two countries would primarily benefit Zimbabweans who have for decades been fleeing from the biting economy.

Basic Commodities Prices Humble Mnangagwa

By Business Reporter- Prices of essential commodities have soared ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, with the government targeting retailers accusing them of sabotage.

Basic goods such as mealie-meal, sugar, cooking oil, rice, and soap have experienced significant price hikes, even when sold in United States dollars.

Retailers have increased the cost of a 2-litre bottle of cooking oil from US$3 to US$4.50, while a 2kg pack of rice now costs US$3.50, up from US$2 according to a snap survey conducted by NewsDay. Other items such as Mazoe Crush fruit drink and washing soap have also seen price increases.

In addition to this, some schools have announced plans to raise fees by up to 100% in the coming year.

The government has stated that it will not impose price controls but instead engage in dialogue with businesses to understand the reasons behind these price hikes.

Industry and Commerce Minister Sithembiso Nyoni clarified that the government’s role is not to control prices but to investigate the factors leading to these increases. She told NewsDay:

Government does not tame prices.

What we do is we discuss with the business and try to understand why they are hiking prices.

So, I will set up an office to look into that and then we will take the necessary dialogue steps to look into that.

Retailers, however, have warned that further price hikes may be on the horizon.

Price increases during the festive season are not unique to Zimbabwe. In many countries, including Zimbabwe, shop owners often take advantage of the increased shopping activity during this time to maximize their profits. The demand for goods and services tends to rise as people purchase items to celebrate and spend time with their families and friends.

However, what makes the current situation in Zimbabwe particularly challenging is the fact that these price increases are happening at a time when the majority of the population is already facing financial difficulties.

The struggling economy, stagnant wages, and high unemployment rates have created a situation where many people are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

The additional burden of inflated prices for essential commodities further exacerbates their financial strain.

Explosive Pictures Suggest ZRP Cops Staged Own Robbery Shoot-Out

Controversial Police Operation Unveils Alarming Brutality and Potential Wrongful Arrests

By Investigative Correspondent | The Zimbabwe Republic Police find themselves under intense scrutiny after releasing images of a purported robbery shootout that appear to contradict their own account. The pictures, intended to showcase a successful operation, instead reveal a disturbing sequence of events that raise questions about the accuracy of the police report.

Before wounds After wounding

The released images depict seven male suspects initially appearing healthy and unharmed while restrained inside a police building. However, the subsequent images tell a harrowing tale of brutality, showing the same individuals subjected to violence, with evident injuries inflicted by gun bayonets. This stark contrast between the initial and final images directly challenges the credibility of the police narrative.

According to emerging details, the incident unfolded when police officers arrived at a residence in search of a specific individual. However, the situation quickly escalated as they not only arrested three male youths but went on to subject them, along with four others, to torture.

Of particular concern is the revelation that three of the victims are brothers from the same family. It appears that the police operation may have involved arbitrary arrests, with the three brothers possibly becoming unintended targets in a case of mistaken identity or haphazard apprehension.

As the public often celebrates successful police operations that lead to the apprehension of suspected criminals, this incident raises critical questions about the accuracy of such conclusions. The disturbing images not only cast doubt on the integrity of the police report but also underscore the potential for wrongful arrests and the use of excessive force in law enforcement operations.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police now face mounting pressure to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the controversial incident, addressing concerns about human rights violations and the veracity of their initial account. This unfolding situation prompts a broader conversation about the need for accountability and oversight to ensure the protection of citizens’ rights in the face of law enforcement actions.

ZRP Spokesperson Paul Nyathi was still to comment at the time of writing.

LIVE VIDEO: As Tshabangu Secretly Meets Scott for Instructions To Push Out CCC MPs, Welshman Labels Nero “Emperor Pushing People Out Of Party”

By Farai D Hove | Former MDC Alliance Vice President Welshman Ncube has set off a political firestorm with a firecracker on Thursday night, unveiling what he describes as the unspoken truth within the party’s National Council.

In his statement, Ncube declared saying, “Every member of the then National Council knows what happened on 22 Jan 2022 at Mabvazuva. We ALL know the truth. We were there! Many are terrified of the Twitter warriors to acknowledge the truth publicly. We have no moral authority to oppose ZANUPF if we can’t stand for truth.”

This statement comes amid longstanding silence from Ncube on the persistent claims made by Sengezo Tshabangu, a political figure labeled a “political imposter,” who asserts himself as the CCC’s Secretary General. Notably, Ncube has refrained from condemning these falsehoods, prompting scrutiny over his commitment to transparency and truth within the political arena.

Following his failure to address the allegations against Tshabangu, Ncube has taken on the role of an arbiter, positioning himself to adjudicate between what he perceives as false and true within the party. This self-appointed role adds a layer of complexity to the internal dynamics of the MDC Alliance and the evolving narrative surrounding its members.

The recent development stems from a Twitter exchange between Ncube and CCC supporter Chris Chidarikire, where questions about Ncube’s absence from recent CCC events led to a nuanced discussion. Ncube’s response, particularly when questioned about his role in the CCC’s leadership, suggested a belief that he should hold a position, emphasizing the party’s departure from its original structure.

“As of January 22, 2022, I was vice president of MDC Alliance,” Ncube clarified, recounting the party’s resolution to reconstitute itself as CCC and participate in the March 2022 by-elections under that banner. He highlighted that the National Council didn’t resolve to dissolve itself during this transition, providing context to the intricacies of the internal restructuring.

In the face of challenges, particularly concerning Sengezo Tshabangu, Ncube defended his position assertively. When pressed to condemn Tshabangu, he retorted, “When Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora started recalling MDC Alliance MPs and councillors, did I not, in my capacity as vice president of MDC Alliance, come out guns blazing right up to the end? In what capacity do you want me to insert myself now?”

The overarching narrative also involves accusations against MDC Alliance leader Chamisa, alleging a concentration of power and a dismantling of established structures, leading to a fallout with key figures like Biti and Ncube. Chamisa’s response, asserting that the CCC is a new party set to elect its leadership in the future, has drawn criticism, with some claiming it casts doubts on his commitment to democratic principles.

As the political drama unfolds, Welshman Ncube’s revelation and subsequent engagement in the ongoing discourse bring to light the intricate web of tensions, accusations, and power dynamics within the MDC Alliance, raising questions about the party’s cohesion and the trajectory of its leadership.

Arthur Midzi A Beloved Nephew | Tribute

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | On Monday the 11th of December 2023 I woke up in the morning to see fourteen missed calls from one of my Nieces Linda Chinokopota. Mostly Linda only calls when she needs money, so I said fourteen calls she must be really desperate. Then I saw a missed call from Mandy my Nephew’s wife mai Raa as she is passionately called.

The late Arthur Midzi

I decided to call mai Raa first. I did not believe my ears. She said Arthur had collapsed and is hospital in South Africa. She went on to force a knife into my heart by saying” the doctor said he might not make it” my heart sank and I felt a pain I had never felt before. I got the leading doctor’s number.

The news was not pleasing. Arthur was dying his blood pressure shot up and bursted some veins in the head resulting in a brain haemorrhage. The doctor said if only Arthur had received urgent attention he would have been saved.

I was in pain and was frantically trying to suggest some medication which could be administered inorder to drain the blood from the brain. That was Monday afternoon.
To my shock and disbelief the doctor’s made a decision to remove the life support equipment which was put on Arthur. This they did without informing the relatives. They made their own decision. Arthur was let down by professionals who treated him with care which was tainted with discrimination.

The type of treatment given to Arthur exposed South Africa’s Xenophobic culture. Wednesday morning around 6 am UK time I received a call from Mandie. When I saw the phone flashing Mandie’s name I knew straight away that Arthur was gone. Yes Mandy confirmed my fears Arthur had breathed his last that morning.

Arthur was born on the 16th March 1978 to Anselm MIDZI and the late Thandiwe Mavaza. He is the first born of five Children who are Atridge Taurai Wish Bradley and Sonia Isabel.
He was blessed with two sons Ramsey MASIMBA MIDZI and Ryan MIDZI. He left behind his wife Mandy and several cousins nieces. When I was told about the death of Arthur I felt my intestines coming through my mouth. I could not breathe. I struggled to open my eyes. All I could see was darkness.

My tears started flowing down my chicks. I could not control them. I managed to stand up. Staggered towards my wardrobe. I entered in the walk in and I felt my legs giving up to the weight of my body. I fell on the suitcase which was in the centre of the walk inn. I started crying uncontrollably.
I realised losing my nephew Aurthur Midzi to the angels above affected me, big time.
It was Wednesday the 13th of December 2023 I had started my writing at 06:30 and my day was promising to be going quite normal then my nephew’s wife phoned me and told me Arthur was gone. The day was taken over by a feeling I can only describe as gut wrenching, after a long silence it dawned into me that Arthur was really gone.

But the rest of the day wasn’t normal, it was constantly wondering why my nephew died. The news that Arthur was dead was gut wrenching there’s no words to describe how I felt.
The two days Arthur spent in the hospital were an agonizing mix of bad day and anxious day. Even as the news got more and more grim, I refused to give up hope, and told myself it will be well.

My sister sisi Joy Enara told me that the situation is one you can come out from. She told me to take heart and believe that he will surely shake the illness off. I dived into that hope. As painful as it was to hear that this sweet little baby so unwell and hooked up to all sorts of medical equipment and machines I knew that he would be at peace no matter what. I believed earnestly that Arthur will be fine. When I was told that my nephew the most beautiful soul in the world had gone and I just burst into tears, I knew I had to be strong for my wife and children and my brother and sisters but also for the rest of my family, I’m the brother of many sisters who all needed me in there own different ways. I so wanted to be with my sisters and brothers comforting them and my other family knowing that day would be one of the hardest days in my life. But I could not travel to
africa soon. I remained strong until I spoke tonRamsey MASIMBA Midzi the son of Arthur names MASIMBA in my honour even though everybody calls him Ramsey, I broke down, I completely lost it, being comforted by family and friends made it that tiny bit easier I was in tears trying to comfort my sisters and my brother on the other side of the phone who were also in pieces at this time, no words can describe how I felt and how I am feeling and they never ever will, loosing a child wether it is a son daughter niece nephew or no relation at all will never be easy at all, but you never think You will go through it and when it happens to you there’s no words that can describe the rollercoaster of emotion and hurt that runs through your head.
Our hearts ache with grief, but we must remember that Arthur Midzi would want us to remember him with love and joy, not just sorrow. In the end, it’s not the years in life that matter, but the life in the years.Arthur was not just my nephew, but a dear friend, a confidante, an essential part of my life and as good as my son. He had a vitality that was contagious, a spirit that was indomitable. He embraced life with a zest and enthusiasm that was truly inspiring.
I remember when he was just a little boy; he had an insatiable curiosity about the world. He was my Pathfinder as I trained the youth on how to navigate into childhood. It was a joy to watch him grow and evolve, learning, exploring, making a difference in his unique ways.
But beyond his interests and achievements, what truly defined Arthur was his character. He was a person of integrity, compassion, and warmth. His resilient spirit, even in the face of adversity, was admirable.
Arthur impacted my life in more ways than I can articulate. His wisdom belied his years, and I often found myself turning to him for advice or insight. His optimistic outlook on life, his tenacity, and his innate ability to see the good in everything and everyone has left an indelible mark on my heart.
Today, as we grapple with this profound loss, I take solace in the memories we made, the laughter we shared, and the countless moments of joy he brought into our lives.
In the end, it’s not the years in life that matter, but the life in the years. And Arthur lived his years fully, touching our lives, leaving us with beautiful memories that we will cherish forever.
As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember him for his indomitable spirit, his joyous laughter, and the love he had for each one of us.”As I think of the absolute finality of death and realise that I can no longer speak to him, I rue the missed opportunities – the conversations I could have had with him but never did. I suppose that is the cruelty of death – and life.  My uncle is no more and I shall never see or speak to him again. I cannot tell him how much I loved him – nor could I ask him what he thought about one idea or another. You see, in my mind, I spoke to him everyday – sometimes twice and three times a day. And now, while my only wish is to write to him a million emails, I no longer can.
Arthur was but he no longer is and before that very moment when he drew his last breath and the rhythm of his breathing broke, I had so many opportunities. I could pick up the phone, drop him an email and expect to hear his voice or read his wonderful notes of love. But now, Arthur is no longer with us. I feel the pain of the loss churning deep inside the base of my stomach. No amount of tears can wash away the wound of losing the dearest man in my life but I still cry – and at times, it’s difficult to stop.. I cannot stop crying for the man who represented everything that was beautiful in this world to me. My heart cannot accept the passing of my greatest idol – my sister’s son.
He cherished each sunrise and sunset and described nature with great thoughtfulness and a hint of mischievous glee. He delved deep inside life itself with the sole intention of retrieving its inner beauty and displaying his discovery for all to see. never imagined that it would be my beloved nephew who would leave us, being robbed of a whole life ahead of him.
Life is full of human suffering and could be so profoundly unfair.
I am experiencing days of such heartbreak and gut-wrenching pain from my brother and the rest of his family. When I think of the family at home the feeling of compassion and helplessness flooded and overwhelmed me. I knew there is nothing I can say or do to alleviate or dissipate such profound grief from family and friends.
Their bitter tears and welling sobs ebbed and flows throughout the day.
We are all questioning why this happened, and what he did to deserve such.
Burying a son is beyond agonizing to witness. Children are never supposed to die before their parents. Never ever.
There was no preparation. An unfortunate incident cost him his life and the shock of his unexpected and senseless death is impossible to process.
I feel my heart being torn into pieces as toss around in my bed. I am afraid that I am further being inflicted pain upon pain. Whe I grovell to my knees and can barely stand because the pain is unbearable. I excruciatingly bared witness to this all.Another arrow through my heart. The anguish is palpable.
I yearn to relieve even just a minuscule amount of my pain. Today is a true test of my willingness to be with all the feelings that arise staying in the here and now, and connected and in my relationships.
I sit here as I process it all and feel an array of feelings. I also notice how my mind and body just want to cut off and numb out, because it feels too overwhelming and agonizing. I want to be genuine with my feelings for my brother, my sweet nephew, and for myself. We all deserve the kindness.
I appreciate how some family relationships are being repaired through this sorrow but wish it wouldn’t have taken this. It’s ironic how often through death, that we are reminded how to live.
I wonder if my nephew was such a blessing that even in his untimely death, he brought people together.
He is being eulogized as being a person who exemplified pure joy. He was always seeing things positively and was someone who looked for and found the goodness in people. He set that example for all of us and put in context what we can all strive for. He profoundly reminded us of that.
My sadness keeps overtaking me. I’ll be with it openly and compassionately.
May Arthur’s memory be a blessing, and may God bless his family.
For how long will God keep silent. Come Lord Jesus. Even so come Lord Jesus.

Mnangagwa Announces Gukurahundi Hearings While Threatening More Killings

Government’s Gukurahundi Hearings: A Tapestry of Healing or Hypocrisy?

By Dorrothy Moyo | As Zimbabwe prepares for the Gukurahundi hearings aimed at addressing the painful events of the 1980s, a growing chorus of skepticism surrounds the government’s commitment to genuine healing and reconciliation. The skepticism is fueled by a glaring dissonance between the proclaimed goals of the initiative and the actions of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa, often linked to the orchestrating of the Gukurahundi massacres, remains unapologetic and defiant, showcasing a stark contrast to the government’s rhetoric of reconciliation. His recent threats to deploy the army for a rain-making ritual echo the dark specter of past atrocities, leaving observers questioning the sincerity of the healing process.

The government’s announcement of the hearings, to be led by over 70 traditional chiefs, is met with raised eyebrows given the context of Mnangagwa’s ongoing threats and his reluctance to acknowledge historical wrongs. The very figure implicated in the Gukurahundi period seems to be steering the ship of reconciliation while remaining unrepentant.

The timing of Mnangagwa’s unapologetic stance and the threats of military action creates a jarring dissonance with the narrative of healing and justice. This hypocrisy is further underscored by the government’s emphasis on Unity Day celebrations, seemingly overshadowed by Mnangagwa’s ominous statements.

As Chief Mtshane Khumalo confirms the preparations for the hearings, the international community and Zimbabwean citizens remain skeptical. The postponement of accountability for past atrocities and the potential misuse of state power cast a shadow over the purported national healing process.

In this tapestry of supposed reconciliation, the disconnect between rhetoric and actions is glaring. Mnangagwa’s unyielding stance and the government’s seemingly selective commitment to addressing historical injustices contribute to an atmosphere of doubt regarding the authenticity of these reconciliation efforts. The Gukurahundi hearings, rather than symbolizing a genuine quest for healing, risk becoming a stage for political theatrics, undermining the very essence of restorative justice they claim to champion.

Drug Addiction Facts

Let’s embark on a deeper exploration of the intricate and multifaceted world of substance abuse and its close companion, denial. Denial, in the context of addiction, is not a mere assertion that one is free from substance abuse issues or can quit at will. It is a complex psychological phenomenon that often extends its reach far beyond the substance itself, influencing behaviors, circumstances, and belief systems.

Addiction, particularly when fueled by potent substances like crystal meth, exerts a profound impact on an individual’s psyche. It brings about a cascade of behavioral changes, effectively robbing them of empathy and sympathy, two fundamental aspects of human connection. What emerges from this transformation is a cocktail of aggression, anger, and various negative behaviors that become the new norm for someone trapped in the throes of addiction.

The paradox lies in the fact that, while these individuals may manifest increasingly hostile and irritable behaviors, they are often oblivious to these changes. In their self-deceptive state of denial, they may perceive themselves as harmless, even as they unwittingly push away their loved ones and make themselves inaccessible to support and understanding.

This state of denial extends to their belief system, where they staunchly maintain that their actions and substance abuse do not affect the people in their immediate environment, whether it be their coworkers, family members, or friends. They may remain steadfast in their conviction that their late-night activities in the garage, for example, are harmless, despite the disturbances they cause to those around them.

It is only as individuals progress in their journey toward recovery that the veils of denial begin to lift. These layers of self-deception gradually peel back, revealing the stark reality beneath. As they move through the steps of recovery and engage in a structured program, they slowly start to recognize the profound impact their behaviors have on those in their lives, as well as their own well-being.

For instance, take the case of an individual laboring late into the night, driven by the influence of crystal meth, blissfully unaware of the disruptions they cause to their family’s sleep and the peace of their neighbors. In their altered state, they genuinely believe they are diligently working, seemingly impervious to the harm they inflict on their surroundings.

In essence, denial is a formidable adversary, an intricate and pervasive barrier to self-awareness and change. It is not restricted solely to the quantity of drugs used or the belief that quitting is an easy feat. Denial extends its tendrils into every aspect of one’s life, reshaping perceptions and behaviors, and only begins to crumble as individuals confront their beliefs and embark on the path to recovery. As they progress in their journey, the truth gradually becomes evident, and the stronghold of denial loosens its grip, making way for a brighter, more hopeful future.

By Simba Chikanza | I will never defend Nelson Chamisa, and neither those people violently-furious because they have failed to go back into parliament the same way Chamisa was sidelined by the masses in 2018 when firebrand Jessie Majome was replaced by Joana Ruvimbo Mamombe and people demanded that Chamisa must also give up his Kuwadzana seat for someone else, Shakespeare or Hwende. He stepped aside. Chamisa may have made mistakes on Welshman, which I am still to learn of, but on Biti such talk is utter nonsense because video evidence is clear on his lawsuit-rival, the businessman Mashwede who phoned Ziyambi Ziyambi on 12 April instructing that Biti’s electoral boundaries must be adjusted so that he (Biti) never enters parliament till after 2033.

This was because Biti was too powerful for Mashwede as both a lawyer and a legislator, meaning if the ZANU man loses at court, Biiti could torpedo him at parliament, as anyone could fear. Was Chamisa involved in making Mashwede call minister Ziyambi Ziyambi?

I doubt if even Mnangagwa was involved in that private affair. On that day, I am one of those who telephoned Biti seeking to assist him so a story could be told that could discourage the Mashwede plan, but he did not, and has not cared to return my calls for over a year to date, even since the day I was calling him to finalise his interview over the story he thanks me for saving his life in Zambia, which was another opportunity to strengthen the democratic cause he stands for.

I struggle to understand how Biti bounces back to say he was sidelined by Chamisa, because on so many occasions he could have marshalled the masses into their heart’s desire- state power acquisition, but he seemed driven by something else.

As I am still to understand Welshman Ncube ‘s story, there is a video of Chamisa and Job Sikhala announcing the opposite of Welshman’s Mabvazuva report on 25th Jan 2022.

Why did Welshman fail to challenge Chamisa on that day, over what Chamisa says that: CCC is a new party with new leadership and not a re branding ? Why wait for 23 months? It’s important that people talk facts not emotional conjecture.

BREAKING: CCC Postpones Its Chitungwiza Sunday Rally

By Farai D Hove | CCC Party Postpones Chitungwiza Rally Amidst Rising Security Concerns

The CCC Party has announced the postponement of its Chitungwiza rally scheduled for Sunday. The move, while unexpected, comes as no surprise given the recent wave of violence directed at the party. Tragically, a pastor lost his life, and many others are now living in fear for their safety.

Observers highlight that the rally was poised to draw a substantial crowd, a potential source of jealousy for rivals ZANU PF, grappling with the reality of its purported loss in the 2023 elections.

The decision to postpone is rooted in security concerns, a vital move to safeguard lives amid the prevailing threats. The CCC Party has assured the public that a new venue will be swiftly announced, emphasizing the necessity for short notice to maintain the safety and security of all involved. Stay tuned for updates as this developing situation unfolds.

Sikhala: I’m Sleeping In A Metre X2 Long Prison Cell for 1 And A Half Years

Dear Zimbabwean and Worldwide Friends

My dearest friends, today marks exactly one and half years, that is, the full 18 months under persecution, incarceration in a meter by two and half meters solitary confinement in Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison by the regime in Zimbabwe since my arrest on the 14th of June 2023.

During this period, hot weather and electricity blackouts in the dark solitary dungeon where you can hold the thick of darkness, I wake up during the middle of the night, the room is fully flooded with my sweat, mosquitos having completed feasting breakfast, lunch and supper from my bare body.

I taught myself that decency is only for free. I am under repression and I must conquer the mental motives of my persecutors. What must be known my dearest friends is that there is no amount of suffering that I have not gone through in my life. I slept on an empty stomach days to no end, but was never tempted to steal from anyone all my life.

I, and my late parents laboured in other people’s fields for school fees, food and clothing. Railway stations and bus terminuses became my shelter in search of a better life. I used thatched slums built of poles as accommodation going to school. I used to travel 46 Kilometers daily to and from school, living in Zaka, walking round Siya Dam to Mazunguye Secondary School in Bikita. Crossing paths with hippopotamus from Siya Dam and Leopard harboured in the mountains separating Zaka and Bikita during dark hours coming from school.

There is no difficult situation insurmountable to me. I am a typical field Negro. This must inform everyone about the comfort and satisfaction I get by living among the poor people.

We share our poverty together. That is why I am passionately prepared to die for the poor and the downtrodden. They deserve complete protection and shelter from those who wield power. I lived the experience and the new experience I am going through has strengthened me. I have witnessed some becoming mentally unstable, after few weeks of solitary confinement where I am currently detained. All this because I was the lawyer to the family of the late Moreblessing Ali, a poor woman who was gruesomely and callously murdered.

Few days ago I saw her in her dream flying like an angel in white garments coming where I was standing with some people in my company. I asked those who were with me in that dream, whether the person who was flying to us was not Moreblessing Ali. They told me that it was truly her. I further asked them, why she was not walking but flying in wings.

I can’t share more of what she said to me after she landed where we were standing.

It is now eleven days from Christmas, and 18 days from New Year. I wish all of you my dearest Zimbabwean and Worldwide Friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

For me, it is the 2nd year running having my Christmas and New Year under repressive incarceration.

It is the second year running when my wife and children will have their Christmas and New Year without their Father. I will celebrate mine in solitary dungeon.

It’s sad that nation is now bereft of moral leaders since the bewitching of Archbishop Pius Ncube Mercenarism has crippled inn. They lined up for dirty cars and dirty money from the oppressor, deforming the name of God.

They can’t speak a word on the face of gross injustice being perpetrate against me.

Hundred kisses of love my dearest Zimbabwean and Worldwide Friends. I Love you all. Stop not praying for me and Zimbabwe.

Enjoy your Christmas and New Year.

Disabled People Should Get Free Medical Treatment in all Hospitals

Ensuring Equal Access: The Rights of Disabled Individuals to Free Medication in Zimbabwe.

By Showbiz Reporter |

-In the pursuit of fostering inclusivity and upholding human rights, it is crucial for Zimbabwe to recognize and implement the right of all disabled individuals to access free medication in hospitals. This aligns with the principles set forth by the United Nations charters and international equality laws, emphasizing the need for equal healthcare opportunities for everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities.

United Nations Charters and International Equality Laws:
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) underscores the importance of promoting, protecting, and ensuring the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by persons with disabilities. Among these fundamental rights is the right to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes access to healthcare services and medications without discrimination.

Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights further emphasize the right to health, emphasizing the importance of accessible and affordable healthcare for all individuals, without any form of discrimination.

Current Scenario in Zimbabwe:
Despite the international commitments, disabled individuals in Zimbabwe often face barriers to accessing essential medications. Financial constraints and a lack of awareness about their rights contribute to this disparity. It is imperative for Zimbabwe to bridge this gap and ensure that healthcare facilities are fully accessible and inclusive for disabled individuals.

Steps Towards Implementation:

  1. Legal Reforms:
Advocate for legal reforms that explicitly state the rights of disabled individuals to receive free medication in all hospitals. This will ensure the alignment of national legislation with international commitments.
  2. Public Awareness Campaigns:
Launch awareness campaigns to inform disabled individuals and their families about their rights to free medication. This should include information on available resources and avenues for recourse if their rights are not being upheld.
  3. Healthcare Facility Accessibility:
Implement measures to make healthcare facilities more accessible for disabled individuals. This includes physical accessibility, but also providing information in accessible formats and training healthcare professionals to cater to the diverse needs of disabled patients.
  4. Government Support:
Encourage government support through subsidies or funding to cover the cost of medications for disabled individuals. This could be part of a broader strategy to enhance the overall healthcare system.
  5. Monitoring and Accountability:
Establish mechanisms for monitoring and accountability to ensure that healthcare facilities comply with the regulations regarding the rights of disabled individuals. This could involve regular audits and reporting mechanisms.

Ensuring the rights of disabled individuals to receive free medication in all hospitals in Zimbabwe is not just a legal obligation but a moral imperative. By aligning national policies with international charters and laws, implementing comprehensive awareness campaigns, and enhancing healthcare accessibility, Zimbabwe can take significant strides toward building an inclusive society where every citizen enjoys equal access to healthcare, irrespective of their abilities.

Mighty Warriors Drop Two Places On FIFA World Rankings

Mighty Warriors have dropped two places on the latest FIFA Rankings released on Friday.

The Zimbabwe national women’s team returned to international football in October when they took part in action in the COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.

The girls had spent over a year-and-half in the cold due to the FIFA ban on the country.

Following the lifting of the ban in July this year, the national side played in the regional tournament and managed a fourth-place finish.

But Zimbabwe didn’t participate in the 2024 AWCON Qualifiers early this month since the draw was done at the time the country was still under sanctions.

In the latest ranking, the team dropped two places to number 127 due to Namibia and Georgia overtaking them on points.

The Mighty Warriors moved down one place to number 19 on the continent.

Meanwhile, Nigeria remained on top of African ranking, while newly-crowned world champions Spain are on top of the world table.

Drug Free Zim A Possibility

Zuma Dumps ANC

By-South Africa’s former President Jacob Zuma has dumped the African National Congress (ANC) and said that he will not campaign for the party ahead of the 2024 elections.

Zuma says he will, however, remain a member of the revolutionary party but will vote for the newly registered uMkhonto Wesizwe party, the former military wing of the ANC.

“It would be a betrayal to campaign for the ANC under Ramaphosa,” he said.

He further stated that he would not be voting for the ANC but for the newly registered uMkhonto Wesizwe party.

In a statement read by his daughter Dudu Zuma-Sambudla, Zuma said, “The ANC has been reduced to an organization hardly respected by those it sought to liberate. It’s clear they’re disappointed by the party’s conduct under the current leadership. An open communication line from the ground up was always available. This is not the ANC we were willing to sacrifice our lives for.

Why Zuma is abandoning ANC

During his time at Robben Island, Zuma said that discipline in the ANC was at its highest, something that is not part of the culture under the current leadership.

Zuma emphasised that the ANC of the past was focused on serving its members, not preoccupied with expelling them.

He listed the appointment of Chief Justice Raymond Zondo as the chair of the Zondo commission, the 2017 Nasrec conference, the July 2021 unrest and the subsequent deaths, President Cyril Ramaphosa’s comment that the ANC was accused number one of corruption, former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s impeachment, and load shedding, which he says could have been avoided through proper appointment procedures, as some of the reasons he would not be campaigning for the party.

Despite all these challenges, Zuma vowed he would die in the ANC and would stay on because he understood the original plans of the organization.

“I hold a very deep commitment to the ANC. I will die as a member of the ANC,” he said.

However, he feels it is necessary to “rescue” the ANC from the current leadership.

“FAZ contributed to Zanu PF victory”

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF national political commissar Dr Mike Bimha has publicly acknowledged the controversial role played by Forever Associate Zimbabwe (FAZ) saying had it not been for this organisation’s role in the just ended August 23 general elections, the ruling party could have lost the elections.

Addressing a press conference in Masvingo at a local hotel recently, Bimha said, after being asked to explain the relationship between FAZ and the ruling party, it was of the Zanu-PF affiliates which significantly contributed to the ruling party’s victory.

“FAZ is one of the 95 affiliates which contributed significantly towards the party’s victory. One of the recent developments in Zanu-PF campaign was the emergence of affiliates and this contributed immensely to our success,” said Bimha.

FAZ was accused of perpetrating violence to opposition supporters especially in rural areas during the run up to the general elections. On the election day, the social media was awash with FAZ agents pictures and videos where they were recording the names of all people who had voted at various polling stations.

At some polling stations they were even stationed within 100m from the polling station which is a violation of the electoral act. At Masvingo Civic Centre polling stations, the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) agents had to force the FAZ agents out of the 100m distance.

In other areas such as Gutu district, Chiredzi and Zaka districts FAZ was reported to have perpetrated violence against youths and women who were perceived to be supporting CCC.

However, against all the vices, the Zanu-PF national commissar hailed the organisation’s role during the elections saying it was one of the party affiliates which heavily contributed to the party’s victory.

Speaking about the Saturday 09 December by-elections, Bimha said Zanu-PF is raring to go, emphasizing that it is the only organized party as CCC is embroiled in serious factional fights.

“What gives us an added advantage over the opposition is that we are a well-organized party, well-structured and that is the difference with the opposition parties, they are not so sure where they are coming from or where they are going, whether they have a constitution or whether they are going to have congresses and who is the leader or not; and that in itself Zanu-PF has come as a demonstration of a well-organized party,” said Bimha.

“You can understand because it is not a party of yesterday as it has a long history right from 1963 to date, so much has happened in the party to make it even stronger and over the years they have improved themselves and just recently we had a central committee meeting to review the constitution and take cognisance of a number of things that happened over the years,” he added.

Thousands Blown On Terry Gee’s Burial And Yet $250 Would’ve Saved His Life: VIDEO

The Irony of Expenditure: Musicians’ Dilemma in the Wake of Terry Gee’s Funeral

By Showbiz Reporter | The untimely demise of Terry Gee, a talented musician in his thirties, has brought to light a tragic irony that has left the music community and other artists reflecting on the choices made in the days leading up to his funeral. It is a somber revelation that the money spent on fuel for the procession to Terry Gee’s final resting place could have covered all his crucial medical expenses and still left a significant sum for other needs.

Background:

Terry Gee’s passing was not just a loss to the music industry but also a stark reminder of the financial challenges faced by many artists, especially when it comes to healthcare. Reports indicate that he succumbed to his ailments after failing to secure a mere two hundred and fifty US dollars for essential medical expenses. This modest amount, which pales in comparison to the funds expended on his funeral arrangements, has sparked a broader conversation about the priorities and financial decisions within the artistic community.

Analysis of Irony:

The irony in this situation lies in the fact that the money spent on fuel for the funeral procession could have been redirected to cover Terry Gee’s medical bills. Musicians and artists, who often grapple with financial instability, found themselves unwittingly contributing to a cause that, if addressed earlier, might have saved a fellow artist’s life. The irony deepens when considering that the funeral expenses could have been repurposed for preventive healthcare, highlighting a profound lapse in financial foresight.

Reflection on Artists’ Financial Priorities:

This revelation prompts a critical examination of artists’ financial priorities and the systemic challenges they face. Many artists operate on tight budgets, and the sudden, unexpected nature of medical expenses can be overwhelming. The dilemma arises when contrasting the immediate, albeit necessary, expenses associated with a funeral against the potential life-saving impact of redirecting those funds towards medical care.

Community Response and Calls for Change:

Terry Gee’s passing has ignited a wave of introspection within the artistic community, leading to calls for improved financial literacy and support systems. Artists and musicians are now urging each other to prioritize health and preventive measures over extravagant funeral arrangements. The hope is that this tragic irony serves as a catalyst for positive change within the industry, fostering a collective commitment to addressing both immediate and long-term financial needs.

The irony surrounding the expenditures related to Terry Gee’s funeral unveils a poignant truth about the financial challenges faced by artists. It serves as a wake-up call for the artistic community to reassess their priorities, emphasizing the importance of proactive financial planning, mutual support, and a reevaluation of resource allocation. In remembering Terry Gee, there is an opportunity for the artistic community to come together, learn from this poignant lesson, and strive for a future where no artist has to face the tragic consequences of inadequate financial preparedness.

Foreigners run away from Zim education institutions

By A Correspondent- Latest data from the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStats) shows that foreigners no longer prefer to study in the country.

A total of 469 752 visitors from abroad entered the country during the third quarter of 2023, with a small fraction coming for education purposes.

“The visitors visited the country for various purposes, which were categorised into in-transit, business, educational, holiday and shopping,” read ZimStats’s 2023 third quarter international migration report.

“Visitors who came to Zimbabwe for educational purposes in the third quarter of 2023 decreased by 38,9% from the second quarter of 2022.

“There were 7 475 education visitors in the quarter ending September 2023 compared to 12 242 in the quarter ending September 2022.”

A few months ago, German counsellor and deputy head of mission in Zimbabwe, Michael Ott, said the quality of Zimbabwe’s education system is fast deteriorating.

Locals from well up families are now sending their children to study abroad.

The credibility of the country’s education has also suffered from scandals that have dogged the sector, such as the leaking of examination papers.

In his proposed 2024 national budget, Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion minister Mthuli Ncube allocated 18% of the budget resources, a figure that falls slightly short of the Dakar Declaration.

The declaration says 20% of the national budget should be channelled to the education sector.

According to ZimStats, most of the foreigners who visited the country came for holidays followed by those who were in transit, with only a handful coming for shopping.

“The number of holiday visitors in the third quarter of 2023 increased from a figure of 175 132 in the third quarter of 2022 to 207 680 in quarter ending September 2023 showing an increase of 18,6%,” the report read.

“The number of arriving visitors who came for business purposes increased by 212,8% from the quarter ending September 2022 to the third quarter of 2023. The number increased from 36 667 to 114 701 in the quarters under review.

“There were 5 833 visitors in the quarter ending September 2023 who came for shopping, up from a figure of 3 074 visitors recorded in the quarter ending September 2022. This represented an increase of 89,8%.”

According to the report, Zimbabwe received a total of 1 125 011 arrivals during the third quarter of 2023.

“Returning residents from abroad (46,3%) constituted the highest proportion of arrivals during the third quarter of 2023,” it added.

Dhuterere lashes out at social media gossips

By A Correspondent- Gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere, real name Darlington Mutseta, says deliberate attempts to inflict harm on his marriage through manipulation and damaging of his character online will not destroy his marriage.

In October Mambo Dhuterere made headlines after he was found at the centre of controversy, with allegations of infidelity and cheating.

However, the Dzikisa Munyengetero hit maker denied the allegations affirming that it was one of those many social media gossips.

Speaking at the St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World’s annual gathering to mark the end of the year big Sunday, which was attended by nearly 3 000 congregants, Mambo Dhuterere reiterated that no amount of cyber-bullying will deter him from respecting, committing and valuing his marriage.

“I would like to set the record straight and tell you that, not even a single day did I beat my wife since we got married,” he said.

“That’s trash, which deserves to be denounced or condemned; and let me tell you that we also laugh at lies they peddle on social media.

“Like some of you, we are also victims of social media falsehoods and that will not stop us from rising against such ills despite their unfounded claims.

“Not even data bundles, hotspotting or any social media hype will deter us from rebuking criminals.

“You hear the lies that we divorced with my wife and she has since left for Botswana, which is totally disgusting and far away from the truth.

“Now look (holding his wife’s shoulder) who is by my side right now waiting to praise and worship through music?

Mambo Dhuterere said their music was crafted in a way that exposes socio-cultural immorality, abuses and realities which exist in societies.

“Perpetrators of crimes that we denounce when we sing are the ones that try to fight back through spreading falsehoods on social media,” he said.

“However, we don’t have energy to entertain them, but denounce them because we are the voice of the voiceless.”

He took a swipe at perpetrators of gender-based violence and appealed to law enforcement agents to bring culprits to book.

The musician expressed gratitude over the support he is getting from his church and fans.

He later joined forces with his wife to treat the 3 000 plus congregants with hits from his rich discography.

Health Xenophobia Has Killed Another Zimbabwean Father of Two

By Dr MASIMBA MAVAZA | On the 13th of December 2023 the thick cloud of death enveloped Cape Town. It left a cruel hand on a lovely young family. It took with it one of the most finest people on earth. The cruel angel of death shadowed and escaped with Arthur Midzi.
When the news of his death came in the early morning of Tuesday I experienced shock and feelings of unreality and disconnection. There was intense sadness, which was overwhelming. It gave me extreme anxiety, which was both general and at nothing specific.
When someone dies, particularly someone you were close to, it can be devastating and overwhelming. Bereavement affects us all, but everyone will cope with it differently and experience different feelings.

The death of Arthur has not sunk yet. It still looks like I am in a dream which I will wake up from very soon.
My eyes become heavy and my mind just went blank. Indeed Arthur is gone and indeed dead.
Grief affects people in different ways. There’s no particular way you should be feeling, or length of time it will take for you to start to feel more like yourself again. But in this case I will never be myself again.
My feelings became chaotic and it is very hard to pin down exactly how I am feeling. Intense feelings are very frightening,
I felt anger and irritation. At the moment I am feeling a sense of hopelessness and depression
I have a completely irrational fear of going to bed in case I fell asleep and didn’t wake up. A sudden death does have odd effects.
Arthur died in a hospital having been admitted just for a day.
I might want to like feel there’s no point seeking help because it won’t bring Arthur back. I feel very powerless.
What hurts me most is the fact that Arthur would have survived in any other hospital if he was not Zimbabwean. More so he would have survived if he was South African.
The rights of non-nationals to access the health care system is a complex matter and has been a major topical point in South Africa. There is a well documented health xenophobia in South Africa. This was sparked by Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba’s remarks about immigrants. In a video, Dr Ramathuba was seen lambasting a Zimbabwean woman who was in a hospital bed seeking medical treatment. She told the woman that foreign nationals are killing her health system and they must go
back to their countries of origin for medical treatment. Health or medical xenophobia is a term used to describe negative
attitudes and practices of healthcare providers towards foreign nationals based on their national origin. This results in the medical maltreatment of the person seeking health care services.
The situation is real Zimbabweans who seek treatment in South Africa are treated badly. Arthur was caught up in this xenophobic conspiracy. The Soutj African politicians do always publicly castigate foreign nationals. The hate against foreigners is ordained by several
Ministers and it manifest itself in South African hospitals.
Arthur suffered extreme high blood pressure which can be desrcrines as Hypertension: this elevated blood pressure which caused tiny arteries to burst inside the brain. Normal pressure is 120/80 mm Hg. Blood thinners: drugs such as coumadin, heparin, and warfarin used to prevent clots in heart and stroke conditions. Arthur was not given any of the thinking medivatoon. The moment they discovered that Arthur was a foreigner the doctors signed him off to death.
There have been many instances of health xenophobia in clinics and community health centres. Members of Operation Dudula have been turning away immigrant patients from the Jeppe Clinic in Johannesburg and harassed immigrants outside several clinics including Hillbrow and Kalafong in Tshwane. It was reported that members of Operation Dudula demanded that all foreigners leave the clinics and that only South Africans could receive treatment, with some people being assaulted by members of the group. Immigrants suffering from chronic illnesses such as HIV, diabetes and high blood pressure are unable to access medication crucial to their well-being since Dudula started gatekeeping at the clinics. It is important to note that Dudula’s actions are tantamount to criminal and illegal conduct but nothing was done.
The hatred towards foreigners was now implanted in the hearts of service providers. The mood of the nurses changes once they see a foreigner in hospital.
These nurses do not know that health care crisis in South Africa is not caused by foreign nationals; they are scapegoated for the failures of the state to address the health care crisis by the people who fail to hold the relevant parties – ministers and directors general – accountable. There is a misconception that it is caused by foreign nationals. The march against foreigners in Soutj Africa caught up with Arthur and he died in the hands of those who are sworn to heal the sick regardless of their nationality. A foreigner is a human being and the treatment foreigners get in hospitals is appalling.
Treating people badly based on their nationality is inhuman, illegal and unfair. It diminishes their human dignity. What is the position of the law on this matter? The right to access health care services is a basic human right guaranteed by the Constitution. Section 27 of the Constitution states that all people in South Africa, regardless of status or nationality, have the right to have access to health care services and that no one may be refused emergency medical treatment.
The National Health Act confirms that all people in South Africa can access primary health care at clinics and community health centres.
Foreigners in South Africa have the same right to access health care as South African citizens, as set out in the Constitution. The Minister of Health must publicly condemn the actions of these xenophobic nurses and uphold the Constitution and the domestic and international legal obligations which ensure the right to health for all.
The nurses and doctors could have saved Autthur if only he was South African. He should have been given blood thinners: drugs such as coumadin, heparin, and warfarin used to prevent clots in heart and stroke conditions may have saved Arthur.
Arthur suffered bleeding disorders: hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, DIC, thrombocytopenia.
Tumors: highly vascular tumors such as angiomas and metastatic tumors can bleed into the brain tissue.
When a person is brought to the emergency room with a suspected brain hemorrhage, doctors will learn as much about his or her symptoms, current and previous medical problems, medications, and family history. The person’s condition is assessed quickly. Diagnostic tests will help determine the source of the bleeding.
Computed Tomography (CT) scan is a noninvasive X-ray to review the anatomical structures within the brain and to detect any bleeding. CT angiography involves the injection of contrast into the blood stream to view arteries of the brain. There is
Treatment for his condition, this includes lifesaving measures, symptom relief, and complication prevention. Once the cause and location of the bleeding is identified, medical or surgical treatment is performed to stop the bleeding, remove the clot, and relieve the pressure on the brain. If left alone the brain will eventually absorb the clot within a couple of weeks – however the damage to the brain caused by ICP and blood toxins may be irreversible.
Generally, patients with small hemorrhages (<10 cm3) and minimal deficits are treated medically. Patients with cerebellar hemorrhages (>3 cm3) who are deteriorating or who have brainstem compression and hydrocephalus are treated surgically to remove the hematoma as soon as possible. Patients with large lobar hemorrhages (50 cm3) who are deteriorating usually undergo surgical removal of the hematoma.
Medical treatment
The patient will stay in the stroke unit or intensive care unit (ICU) for close monitoring and care. Arthur was suppposed to be given blood thinners, reversal drugs will be given to restore clotting factors. His Blood pressure was supposed to manage or to decrease the risk of more bleeding yet provide enough blood flow (perfusion) to the brain. Controlling intracranial pressure is a factor in large bleeds. A device called an ICP monitor was supposed be placed directly into the ventricles or within the brain to measure pressure.
Removing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the ventricles helps control pressure. A ventricular catheter (VP shunt) may be placed to drain CSF fluid and allow room for the hematoma to expand without damaging the brain.
Hyperventilation also helps control ICP. In this case coma was supposed to be induced with drugs to bring down ICP.
If Arthur was not a foreigner a
Surgical treatment would have been applied.
The goal of surgery was to remove as much of the blood clot as possible and stop the source of bleeding if it is from an identifiable cause such as an AVM or tumor. Depending on the location of the clot either a craniotomy or a stereotactic aspiration may be performed.
The staff at the hospital as in many South African hospitals did not care for Arthur.
The bedside ethics were clearly flouted as Arthur was drooping with no care insight.
The South African nurses are becoming vigilantes and use their official capacity to eliminate foreigners by less caring for them.
It will be a relief to see All health care facilities (clinics, community health centres and hospitals) ensuring that all staff, medical and nonmedical, recognise the right to health for all, as well as that all migrants, refugees and asylum seekers regardless of their documentation status have the same access to health care services as South Africans.
It is important to remember that united we stand, divided we fall, in the true spirit of Pan-Africanism.
Relying on the experiences of migrant patients, research on migration and health in South Africa has documented a particular concern with public health care providers as indiscriminately practicing ‘medical xenophobia’. There is more complexity, ambivalence, and a range of possible experiences of non-nationals in South Africa’s public health care system.
Many Zimbabweans have died in South African hospitals simply because they are foreigners.
When I remember Arthur I see the unfairness of the South African medical Xenophobic behaviour. Arthur represents many Zimbabweans who die in the hospitals when they could have been treated.
My tears are not yet dry my heart is bleeding. How many more bodies are we to count.
Arthur sleeps with his fathers but the gap he has left nobody can fill it.
The world will never be the same without Arthur. But for how long shall we allow such inhuman and xenophobic rhetoric continue. Why should we look at the demonic treatment Zimbabweans are being treated in the Republic. To Arthur I can only say Fare thee well my son. When the trumpet sounds behold we will be risen again. Till Jesus comes again sleep well Mhofu? God will not be silent for a long time. It is well with my soul. To Mandy and Family find in your heart time to understand God knows how to comfort and he will comfort you.

Zuma dumps Ramaphosa

By A Correspondent- Former president Jacob Zuma will not be voting for the ANC in the upcoming election — and will also not be campaigning for the party.

The former ANC president, who has been a member of the party for 64 years, said his conscience could no longer allow him to vote for “the current ANC”.

He made the announcement in Soweto on Saturday.

“In 2024 I will vote for Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party — it has already been registered with the IEC, with my knowledge and blessings.

“I have decided that I cannot and will not campaign for the ANC of [president Cyril] Ramaphosa. It is not the ANC I joined, it will be a betrayal to campaign for the ANC of Ramaphosa. My conscience will not allow that,” he said.

Six perish along Harare, Byo road

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported that six (6) people died in a tragic road accident that took place on the Harare-Bulawayo Road near the National Museum of African Liberation in Harare on Friday. The museum is located near Warren Park 1 High School.

According to the police statement, the accident involved two commuter omnibuses (kombi) – a Toyota Hiace carrying 15 passengers, a Nissan Caravan and an AVM bus.

The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 15/12/23 at around 1800 hours along Harare-Bulawayo Road near National Museum of African Liberation, Harare in which six people were killed whilst 10 others were injured when a Toyota Hiace kombi with 15 passengers on board was involved in a head on collision with a Nissan Caravan kombi with three passengers on board which was travelling towards Harare CBD.

Following the initial collision, the Toyota Hiace struck an AVM bus with three passengers that was also heading towards Harare CBD. The Toyota Hiace had crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic.

The deceased individuals were taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the injured victims are receiving treatment at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

According to a witness named Justice Mhishi, the Toyota Hiace Kombi caused the accident. Mhishi explained that he was driving behind the bus involved in the accident. He and others tried their best to help the injured people. Mhishi recounted:

I was behind the bus. We tried our best kubuditsa vanhu (to extract people), one woman was vomiting blood the only word she said ‘ko VANA VANGU’ (what about my kids) and she died after that, One woman lost two kids in my eyes.

Road accidents tend to increase during festive seasons, making it crucial for road users, including motorists and pedestrians, to be cautious and observe road rules. Various factors contribute to these accidents, such as the higher volume of traffic, driver fatigue, drunk driving, speeding, and the presence of inexperienced or unlicensed drivers.

Therefore, individuals need to plan their journeys, ensure they are well-rested, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, adhere to speed limits, and remain mindful of other road users.

Former president Jacob Zuma is expected to make an announcement on Saturday regarding his political future.

“I call on all South Africa to join me in voting for the MK party, or any progressive party that seeks total liberation and the return of our land to its rightful owners. This government is led by sell-outs and apartheid collaborators,” said Zuma.

The former president listed several reasons for his decision to distance himself from the ANC — chief among which was that the ANC has been “reduced to an organisation that is hardly respected by those it sought to liberate”.

Zuma emphasised though, he would not be entirely deserting the party, saying: “I will die ANC.”

His announcement could be a blow to the party in his province of KwaZulu-Natal where the former president is still popular and was expected to play a significant role in campaigning for the ANC for the 2024 elections.

Kombi crash claims 2

Two people were killed in a tragic road accident on the Harare-Masvingo highway. The accident involved a Toyota Hiace commuter omnibus (kombi) and a Toyota Probox vehicle. The kombi was carrying 12 passengers while the Probox had four passengers.

According to a police report seen by a local publication, the vehicles collided head-on at the 263-kilometre mark. Eleven other individuals sustained injuries and were taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for treatment. Read the report by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP):

The bodies of the victims were taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital.

ZLHR intervenes in Chipinge

By A Correspondent- Mutare High Court Judge Justice Isaac Muzenda has ordered Chipinge Rural District Council (CRDC) to stop excavating, constructing roads and pegging residential stands within Maunganidze Communal Lands in Chipinge, Manicaland province.

CRDC had since the end of November 2023 arbitrarily started implementing an urbanisation process in Maunganidze Communal Lands under Chief Mutema in Chipinge in Manicaland province, which would have displaced and affected more than 645 families.

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights latest report states that the rollout of the urbanisation process compelled some villagers in Maunganidze Communal Lands to engage Tariro Tazvitya, Peggy Tavagadza and Tatenda Sigauke of ZLHR, who filed an urgent chamber application at Mutare High Court challenging the arbitrary, illegal and unconstitutional conduct of CRDC.

In their application, Tazvitya, Tavagadza and Sigauke argued that the villagers, were extremely aggrieved and concerned whether they will retain the full extent of the land that they had been occupying and using, whether they will pay for the land after urbanisation, whether the urbanisation process would accommodate the individual developments, which they had done on the land which they currently occupy and how they were going to survive in an urban set-up since they rely on subsistence farming.

The villagers, whose families have inhabited Maunganidze Communal Lands since time immemorial and have fully developed the areas which they occupy, complained that CRDC had started implementing the urbanisation process of Maunganidze Communal Lands without consulting and engaging them considering that their families have been in occupation of the area for more than 100 years.

T

azvitya, Tavagadza and Sigauke told Justice Muzenda, who on Monday, presided over hearing of the urgent chamber application, that CRDC had deployed excavators into the villagers fields on 27 November 2023, where officials from the local authority began pegging residential stands and constructing roads in their fields.

The human rights lawyers bemoaned that CRDC was turning the villagers’ fields into residential stands and roads on the eve of the rainy season, when they were planning to carry out their farming activities especially after receiving some agricultural inputs under a government supported programme.

The lawyers warned that the villagers would be affected by hunger if CRDC is not stopped from conducting the urbanisation process, which would rob them of their valuable ancestral land.

The CRDC’s conduct, Tazvitya, Tavagadza and Sigauke said, was arbitrary, unconstitutional and violated the villagers’ right to property guaranteed in section 72 of the Constitution, the right to be heard and the right to be informed of decisions which affect them.

On Monday 11 December 2023, Justice Muzenda ordered CRDC to stop interfering with the villagers’ livelihoods by halting implementation of the urbanisation process in Maunganidze Communal Lands and instead engage and reach an agreement with the villagers first and file a Deed of Settlement before proceeding with any development of residential stands.

“NC had received bribes”

In November last year Zanu PF announced that MPs and senators would get US$40 000 housing loan. Everyone knew this was not budgeted for, the recipients never asked for the loan and no one was expected to pay a single dollar back – in short, this was a bribe.

The deputy ministers and ministers received US230 000 and US$ 500 000 respectively. The regime was going on an unbudgeted spending spree in preparation to the upcoming elections and was buying the silence of the country’s legislators to clear the way.

Nelson Chamisa admitted the US$40 000 housing loan to MPs and senators was a bribe and he asked his party’s legislators to refuse the bribe. They told him no. They reminded him that he and his MDC colleagues had received their bribes during the GNU and hence the reason thy failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years.

Indeed, ever since the 2008 to 2013 GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have shamelessly participated in flawed elections knowing Zanu PF would rig and win the election and their participation would give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. They did not mind that as long as they got the few gravy train seats Zanu PF offered to entice the opposition to participate.

It is therefore not surprising that Nelson Chamisa was once again trying to get his elected party officials to withdraw from parliament over these Sengezo Tshabangu recalls which have cause havoc and pandemonium in the party. The elected officials are determined to hang on to their gravy train seats. They participated out of greed and it is for that reason that they will stay.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends lost their political moral compass during the GNU, if they had it at all, when Mugabe bribed them with the trapping of high office and they, in return throw the reforms out of the window. It is laughable how Chamisa has now and again tried to reclaim the mantra of change champion.

“Change Champion in Chief”, he calls himself in the CCC constitution he produced in the High Court. Yeah right! Change champion in chief who cannot name even one change he and the party has brought in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU!

“Chamisa had ordered a withdrawal but was told in no uncertain terms that he can’t withdraw MPs who campaigned using their resources, especially after he, Chamisa, took all the donated money meant for MPs’ campaigns and put it to his personal use. He was cornered; he could do anything but bow to pressure,” mocked Jealousy Mawarire, the Spokesperson of the National Patriotic Front, according to a report in Bulawayo 24.

“Despite the internal turmoil and the public disclosure of the party’s internal challenges, CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi defended the decision of the MPs to remain in parliament in a post on X. ‘It is our considered view as the Citizens Coalition for Change that we will be more impactful speaking against and calling out the regime in parliament while also guarding our zones of autonomy rather than pulling out,’ Mkwananzi explained.

Mkwananzi reiterated the party’s commitment to defending the people’s vote and challenged President Mnangagwa to take the initiative if the government does not want CCC legislators in Parliament. ‘If Mr. Mnangagwa does not want our legislators in Parliament, let him expel them rather than us doing the job for him. That way, the world will know who the real enemy of democracy is. We will never give in to the regime’s machinations,’ he stated.

The internal turmoil in CCC is the result of Chamisa’s refusal to have a democratic party constitution, structure and elected officials. He wanted to return total control and power for himself. He called the policy “strategic ambiguity” although there was nothing strategic or ambiguous – this was a one-man band plain and simple.

What Sengezo Tshabangu has done was claim to be the party’s SG. He has argued that the same mucky and undemocratic process that Chamisa says elected him President of the party elected him, Sengezo, SG. There was no evidence produced in a Court of Law to prove that he was lying. Chamisa’s own strategic ambiguity has backfired on him!

Sengezo Tshabangu has used his position as SG to recall these CCC officials he and his faction do not like. He has recalled two butches already, 24 legislators and 60 local authority councillors. He has threaten to recall more.

The whole world knows that CCC leaders have been participating in these  flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. The whole world also knows that CCC officials who were recalled is an internal matter, Zanu PF has nothing to do with it, and that CCC leaders are in a life and death fight to keep their gravy train seats and the benefits that entails; it is a lie that they are fighting for democracy.

How can CCC leaders still be fighting for democracy when they traded that in for the gravy train seats a long time ago! MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reform in 23 years precisely because they have sold out on democracy, reforms and free elections. If the people of Zimbabwe want an end to this curse of rigged elections and bad governance then they must wake up to this political reality – CCC leaders are fighting for gravy train seats and not democracy!

How Did Hopewell Win Those Awards? – Tembo

BITI #Hopewell Chin’ono Says Chamisa Used A Dream To Terminate Biti’s Career, When There’s Full Colour Video And A High Court Case: Mashwede vs Biti.

By A Correspondent | Hopewell Chin’ono who’s notorious over a leaked audio of him with a Swaziland based editor saying God told him in a dream he would become the next President of Zimbabwe, has opened an accusation against CCC President Nelson Chamisa saying the latter used a dream to terminate his former deputy Tendai Biti’s career, allegations disproved by a full colour video clip of a ZANU PF tycoon who instructed the Justice Ministry and the JSC to adjust electoral boundaries so that Biti won’t come back to parliament.

Mashwede vs Biti case

Already Chinono is infamous over a leaked January 2023 audio of a discussion between him and a military intelligence officer in which he advises the army that Nelson Chamisa’s party must split after the 2023 elections because according to him, Chamisa is incompetent.

He’s also notorious for failing to disclose the UK bank he says funded his sports car lifestyle with an untraceable 1996 £50,000 loan he says is the source of his property wealth, and the same Hopewell Chin’ono accuses Chamisa of misrule.

On 12 April 2023, businessman, Mashwede-Tendai Mashamhanda was filmed writing to the Justice Ministry and a Judicial Setvices Officer instructing them that Tendai Biti’s electoral boundaries must be adjusted so that he fails to contest the 2023 polls and that he only makes it back into electoral spaces in 2033.

Biti who was contacted by ZimEye and other journalists back then on multiple occasions, could have easily pre-empted and exposed the plot, but did not.

Biti also sabotaged another nation saving opportunity that could have made him indispensable in Sept 2022, and violence prevention expert, Comfort Dondo briefly talks of this as she calls him out over his failure to turn up for an appointment with his (Biti’s lawyer) on the day he could have saved both the suffering people and his career.

Dondo says: “Biti come here and deny this, that you turned your back in Sept 2022, when you cared not a thing to save both your career and the lives of Zimbabweans, when you perfectly KNEW that I and other Zimbabweans were stranded in Zambia with your lawyer, as we waited for you.

I SAID COME HERE, TENDAI! HUYA PANO!… “

But Hopewell Chinono has accused Nelson Chamisa of using a dream to terminate Tendai Biti’s career.

Chinono, who has not cared to apologise for leaking the addresses of torture victims’ safe houses to the military, and advising their head Constantino Chiwenga to visit the victims in order to address tension, writes of this saying Nelson Chamisa must accept responsibility for Biti’s career crash.

Hopewell Chin’ono says in full: “You guys are not serious at all!

“I told everyone who reads my social media as far back as April that there was a rift at the top of the opposition party after the deliberate but unstrategic marginalisation of the senior leadership in the opposition.

“You took turns to insult me saying that the opposition was united, and that it was my own misplaced imagination that there was a rift at the top.

“I told you all that the risk and failure to making the senior guys part of an united election campaign was a massive strategic error because after ZANUPF has rigged, Nelson Chamisa would not have the key pillars to help him face ZANUPF in the different political arenas, again makazvifonera lying to yourselves that there was unity in the opposition.

“I repeatedly reminded you here that the failure to have a proper structured leadership would weaken the party, again I got more insults.
You did what you deceitfully do always using the false equivalence argument that the MDCA was taken over with structured leadership.

“Yet you all know that the MDCA was taken over because of Morgan Tsvangirai’s unconstitutional appointments of 2 Vice Presidents, something that you also rabidly supported against the legal advice of Advocate Eric Matinenga whose blood is pure with love for the opposition and was the GNU Constitutional Affairs Minister …

“The real truth is that Dr Nkosana Moyo was right that Zimbabwe is one big ZANUPF society, and that the way ZANUPF behaves is the same way that many Zimbabweans behave.

“Today you are reaping the consequences of these misplaced and juvenile political decisions that you supported, it is not as if you didn’t know, we told you repeatedly here.

“You simply don’t like being told the truth when it doesn’t suit your own political narratives that defend your favorite politicians whether it is ZANUPF or CCC, it is a Zimbabwean thing that Dr Nkosana Moyo talked about.

“You are not fighting for democracy because democracy is rule based, you have constantly supported misrule as long as it is being done by Nelson Chamisa.

“You supported his marginalisation of the senior colleagues, you supported his one man election campaign.
I say a one man election campaign because all the senior leaders were not allowed to address elections rallies where Nelson Chamisa was.

“If he had won he would have claimed the victory as his, but I also warned that if he loses the loss would be his whether it comes through rigging or not.

“We were not speaking out of turn, we were speaking based on what both Nelson Chamisa and his senior colleagues were saying to each other.

“You hypocritically ask those maligned leaders to come to the fore when the party is in trouble due to the unconstitutionalism that you supported!

“Tendai Biti was told by Chamisa that he had a dream and God told him that he was not part of the CCC parliamentary future, ask Biti or Chamisa if I am lying!

“Yet today you ask the same Tendai Biti who was spoken of in the dream to come and defend the party after the decisions you made have backfired!

“You are hypocrites and should leave those that you never wanted to carry on with their lives!

“I have used your tweet @Realeboha_Pa to address many who think like you and are saying the same things that you have said.

“@Mathuthu is being insulted for speaking his mind yet you pretend to be democrats, to you democracy is agreeing with everything you do whether right or wrong.

“Political dynamics in a political party can be complex leading to differing perspectives contributing to varied opinions, that is healthy.

“But it is essential for a healthy democracy to encourage open dialogue and diverse viewpoints and not call everyone who disagrees with you a sell out.

“Some of us say these truths in order for history to record us correctly not for today’s RETWEETS or LIKES.

“Remember that every decision in life has consequences, when those consequences come, don’t pretend that you didn’t make those decisions.

“Accept your responsibilities!?? “

Tshabangu Rescinds Recall Of Victoria Falls Councillors

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has cancelled the planned by-election that had been set for Victoria Falls after Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim secretary Mr Sengezo Tshabangu rescinded the recall of the affected councillors.

The interim opposition party’s secretary general instigated recall of several legislators and councillors countrywide and Victoria Falls’ ward 9 and 11 councillors Mthunzi Mpofu and Daniel Moyo respectively, were part of the 52 that Mr Tshabangu recalled from 15 local authorities last month.

By-elections were expected to be done in February next year.

Mr Tshabangu’s argument was that the recalled candidates were imposed on the people in the run up to the August 23 elections and it is time to return the opposition outfit to constitutionalism.

Some of the recalled MPs took Mr Tshabangu to court and the case was dismissed by the High Court paving way for the recent by-elections where the opposition lost some seats to the ruling Zanu-PF.

In a statement, ZEC Chief Elections Officer Mr Utloile Silaigwana said the by-elections in Victoria Falls had been cancelled.

“It is hereby notified that the advertised vacancies for the City of Victoria Falls wards 9 and 11 and the party list PR vacancies are no longer in existence following the recession of the recall of the incumbents by their sponsoring party. Accordingly, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission advises that all electoral processes in relation to the said advertised by-elections have been cancelled with immediate effect,” he said.

Victoria Falls have 11 elected councillors and three women’s quota councillors.

The two proportional representation councillors who had also been affected by the recall are Mabukwana Ndlovu and Mariya Phiri.

Sikhala Blows 100 Kisses Of Love To Zim Friends

14 December 2023

Dear Zimbabwean and Worldwide Friends

My dearest friends, today marks exactly one and half years, that is, the full 18 months under persecution, incarceration in a meter by two and half meters solitary confinement in Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison by the regime in Zimbabwe since my arrest on the 14th of June 2023. During this period hot weather and electricity blackouts in the dark solitary dungeon where you can hold the thick of darkness, I wake up during the middle of the night, the room is fully flooded with my sweat, mosquitos having completed feasting breakfast, lunch and supper from my bare body.

I, and my late parents labored in other people’s fields for school fees, food and clothing. Railway stations and bus terminuses became my shelter in search of a better life. I used thatched slums built of poles as accommodation going to school. I used to travel 46 Kilometers daily to and from school, living in Zaka, walking round Siya Dam to Mazunguye Secondary School in Bikita.

Crossing paths with hippopotamus from Siya Dam and Leopard harbored in the mountains separating Zaka and Bikita during dark hours coming from school.

It is now eleven days from Christmas, and 18days from New Year.

It’s sad that nation is now bereft of moral leaders since the bewitching of Arch Bishop Pius Ncube Mercenarism has crippled inn.

2 Families Bury Wrong Corpses

Shocking Corpse Mix-Up Unveiled in Gweru: Families Bury Wrong Bodies

In a confusing turn of events, a Gweru family mourned and buried the wrong body, only to unravel the unsettling mistake during a somber body viewing. The distressing mix-up involved the remains of Takudzwa Chipadza and Courage Sibanda, two individuals who met untimely deaths in separate incidents at Mkoba 14 and 16 business centers, respectively.

The unsettling saga began when Chipadza’s family retrieved what they believed to be Takudzwa’s body from Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary on December 6. Without suspecting any error, they proceeded to lay their loved one to rest at Mutasa cemetery in the city the following day.

Simultaneously, Sibanda’s family, unaware of the impending confusion, collected what they thought was Courage’s body from the same mortuary. The tragic error only came to light during the funeral proceedings in Somabhula when the grieving family noticed the discrepancy during the body viewing.

Swift action followed, as the concerned family alerted Gweru Provincial Hospital authorities about the distressing mix-up. Takudzwa’s relatives were promptly engaged, leading to a startling revelation upon the identification of the bodies – Courage Sibanda had been mistakenly buried by the wrong family.

In an effort to rectify the harrowing mistake, the exhumation of Sibanda’s body was ordered and carried out a week later. The bodies were then rightfully handed over to their respective families for the proper burial they deserved.

The funerals of both Takudzwa Chipadza and Courage Sibanda were expected to take place on Friday, marking the culmination of a heart-wrenching series of events that highlighted the need for heightened vigilance in the handling of deceased individuals to prevent such distressing errors.- State Media

Two Bodies Exhumed Following Burial Mishap

Two Gweru families will today exhume a body of a deceased relative for reburial after one of the families mistakenly claimed a wrong corpse at the Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for burial. The other family discovered that they had collected a wrong body on burial day during viewing.

It was later learnt that their relative had already been buried by the other family.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mhoko said the two families will meet today at Mutasa Cemetry where the other body will be exhumed.

“Circumstances are that relatives of one of the deceased, Takudzwa Chipadza went to Gweru Provincial Hospital last week and collected the body of Courage Sibanda.

Sibanda’s relatives then later went to the hospital and erroneously collected Chipadza’s body.

“Both deceased were victims of murder,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said Chipadza’s relatives buried Sibanda’s body in error, assuming the corpse belonged to their relatives only for Sibanda’s relatives to realise on burial day that they had a wrong body.

“They then approached the hospital where the error was noted hence the two families are today exhuming Sibanda’s body so that they can swap the bodies for reburial,” he said.

Transport Minister Sued Over Defective Flyover

HARARE residents are suing Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Hon. Felix Mhona, over some defective flyovers, which are posing a serious safety risk to inhabitants of the capital city.

The residents through their association, Harare Residents Trust (HRT) recently filed an application at Harare High Court seeking an order to compel Hon. Mhona to rectify the defects on three of the capital city’s flyovers located along Simon Mazorodze road, Lytton road and Fidel Castro road within 90 days of the granting of the court order so as to ensure that the flyovers are safe for use by road users.

HRT also wants the High Court to declare that Hon. Mhona’s conduct in failing to rectify the defects on the three flyovers to be a contravention of residents’ right to an environment that is not harmful to their health or well-being as enshrined in section 73(1) of the Constitution.

Through the application, which was filed on 8 December 2023 by Tonderai Bhatasara of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, HRT together with Loreen Mupesa, a resident of Harare, who said she frequently uses roads located on the flyovers, argued that as the official responsible for maintenance and rehabilitation of roads in Zimbabwe, Hon. Mhona has a duty to safeguard people’s lives by ensuring that roads are safe in the country.

HRT and Mupesa protested that Hon. Mhona had not attended to fixing the defects, which were noted on the flyovers several years ago and this had exposed the flyovers to the risk of collapse and thereby endangering the lives of members of the public.

HRT and Mupesa said with each day passing, the flyovers had increasingly became dangerous and unsafe to use.

According to HRT and Mupesa, the defects on the three flyovers were identified by officials from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and City of Harare, who conducted a joint inspection and these are contained in a report, which the officials produced on 27 July 2012.

Some of the defects, which were noted and are listed in the joint report include spalling of concrete on bottom flanges of beams on edges, severe corrosion to reinforcement steel, visible cracks along the centreline deck, severely damaged expansion joints, excessive vibration of superstructure, poor drainage of super structure, water leaking on expansion joints and longitudinal cracks.

HRT and Mupesa argued that while Hon. Mhona’s ministry had in 2021 acknowledged the existence of the defects on the flyovers and had undertook to rectify them, he had since 2021 not fixed them hence the residents now want the Minister to be compelled by the High Court to repair them and help eliminate the danger, which they pose to motorists and other road users.

DeMbare, Ngezi Platinum To Use Heart Stadium For International Matches

Yadah founder and owner Prophet Walter Magaya has offered his newly-commissioned The Heart Stadium to Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos, for use in the two club’s CAF competitions next year.

Chamisa Adopts New Strategy, Confronts Mnangagwa

By James Gwati- The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) youth league in Bulawayo has issued a chilling warning of impending street protests if urgent electoral reforms are not swiftly implemented.

CCC Task Force National Administrator Pashor Raphael Sibanda, a former Cowdray Park MP, alleged during a press conference on Thursday that crucial state institutions, including the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), the judiciary, and ZRP, have fallen under the control of ZANU PF.

Sibanda accused the ruling party of orchestrating illegal recalls of CCC representatives from both parliament and local governments, using what he referred to as “captured” institutions to undermine the democratic process.

CITE quoted Sibanda, stating, “We are aware of the Zanu-PF agenda to try to steal the will of the people and undermine the role of the alternative in the country.”
He added, “We want to send a clear message to the regime to reform as a matter of urgency and let the will of the people be respected and protected. Failure to do so, the streets shall be the avenue of our struggle.”

In response to Sibanda’s claims, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba dismissed him as “a mere deviant boy” and downplayed the importance of his statements. Charamba revealed a purported shift in CCC’s strategy, suggesting a move toward more confrontational politics, direct funding, and the emergence of a more youthful and militant leadership for the opposition. Charamba hinted at a follow-up meeting scheduled for December 5th in Lusaka, Zambia, suggesting a potential upheaval within the opposition.
Charamba concluded with a cryptic warning, stating, “Of course, these boys of brawn will soon learn – like the proverbial burnt child – to dread fire!!!! Ndapedza; vanzwa vatonzwa!” indicating an escalating tension and potential conflict within the political landscape.

Hopewell Chin’ono Involved In Verbal Car-Accident While Accusing Chamisa Of Own Log

Mnangagwa In Panic Mode

By James Gwati-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba, has fired a warning shot at the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), led by Nelson Chamisa, cautioning them against resorting to mass action to compel ZANU PF to negotiate. Charamba, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), urged Chamisa to consider negotiations with Sengezo Tshabangu, asserting that Tshabangu is open to engagement, “at least for now.”

Tshabangu, an activist within CCC, declared himself the party’s interim secretary general in October and has since initiated the recall of numerous CCC representatives, diminishing the opposition’s presence in Parliament.

Charamba sternly advised Chamisa that if he believes mass protests will sway ZANU PF and bring them to the negotiating table, he should remember the formidable opponent he is dealing with. Suggesting a potential ruthless response from the State’s security apparatus, Charamba stated, “A key principle in politics is understanding your customer; there is no clue anyone in Triple C, least of all Chamisa, works with this elementary political principle which informs what does and cannot do. Politics is the art of the possible.”

The warning comes amidst speculation that CCC may be considering mass action as a strategy to pressure ZANU PF. Charamba’s reference to the government’s deployment of the military in central Harare in 2018, where at least six people were shot dead during protests, serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of such actions. The stage is set for a high-stakes political showdown between Chamisa’s CCC and Mnangagwa’s ZANU PF.

Mthuli Ncube Backs Down On New Passport Fees

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube steered through his 2024 national budget in a marathon sitting of parliament which concluded just before 1AM on Friday, making several revisions to his tax proposals.

Ncube told MPs road toll fees would go up by 50 percent, backing down from the 150 percent increase he announced on November 30.

The minister also bowed to pressure and said he would lower the price of a standard passport to US$150, after having proposed, in his budget speech, to increase it to US$200 from the current US$120.

The 1 percent wealth tax on home owners was also radically reviewed to affect only second homes, not primary residencies. He raised the threshold to properties worth at least US$250,000 from US$100,000 he proposed previously. The tax will be capped at a maximum US$50,000 per year for properties worth over US$5 million.

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs were ejected from parliament and banned for four sittings after singing and heckling when Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda announced Scott Sakupwanya as the new MP for Mabvuku Tafara. Sakupwanya won by default when the CCC candidate, who beat him only in August before he was controversially recalled, was barred by a court from standing.

The budget passed with only Zanu-PF MPs present.

In his 2024 budget statement, Ncube had proposed to more than double tollgate fees from US$2 to US$5 or equivalent for light vehicles on what he called “premium roads” – Harare to Beitbridge and Plumtree-Bulawayo-Harare-Mutare. This would have seen a return trip from Harare to Bulawayo with a family sedan costing US$50 at tollgates.

On other roads, toll fees were to go up by 100 percent from US$2 to US$4 for light motor vehicles. The minister has now fixed that at US$3.

“We are proposing that rather than increasing the basic toll fee by 100 percent, I am now proposing that we increase it only by 50 percent. We have lowered the increase,” Ncube said.

“The same applies to the premium roads, again I am not proposing the full amount but only half of that. So, we have lowered these toll fee increases.

“I also listened to a comment that perhaps tollgates that are closer to the city should have lower toll fees than elsewhere. We will look into this. It sounds like a noble proposal because some of the people who live out at the edge of the city or those who work in the city, if they are having to pay high toll fees, we do not want that. We want it to be fair and reflect the fact that the work here we do not want to overly penalise those individuals.”

Ncube had proposed an increase in passport fees from US$120 to US$200 starting from January next year. He told MPs that he had planned to use the money to install automated passport readers at ports of entry to remove the need for human intervention.

MPs said the raise was too high, and Ncube conceded: “On passport fees, we have listened carefully to the contributions from the portfolio chairpersons and Hon. Members that the US$200 is on the high side, we agree with that. It is just that when we were having the discussions about modernising our borders, we wanted to be the first country outside Dubai to have an unmanned border post where you can walk in because now we have an e-passport with a chip in it

“You can walk in and the gates open your passport is read. You do not talk to anybody. We want that equipment here by end of 2024. We have to be modern. That is what motivated us. It is the kind of thinking to say we need resources to support the ministry of home affairs and we thought that increasing passports was one way to do this.

“Someone proposed that rather than US$120 for an ordinary passport, let us make it US$150. It is a proposal, but for the express passport, the 24-hour passport, anyone who needs it urgently is often those who can afford it. That one should be US$250. I know one Hon. Member who proposed US$350, but let us make it US$250 and I think US$250 is okay”.

In his Z$60 trillion budget, Ncube was heavily criticised over a 1 percent wealth tax proposal on properties worth US$100,000 or more.

“On the wealth tax, I accept the contributions from the public, from the portfolio chairpersons and Members of Parliament that we need to move the threshold. Some members suggested that the 70 years exemption should be brought down to 65, again I agree with that.

“We must also exempt the primary residence of an owner of a property… So the primary residence is excluded. In fact, I am proposing a new threshold of US$250,000. I am also proposing a limit as to how much any person can pay. No-one should pay more than US$50,000 per annum. That pertains to a property of about US$5 million. In other words, if you have a property worth about that value and beyond, really you should not be paying more than that, there should be a cap somewhere.”

Parliament adjourned until 12.49AM until January 30, 2024.

Chamisa Corners Mnangagwa

By James Gwati- The youth wing of Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in Bulawayo has issued a chilling warning of impending street protests if urgent electoral reforms are not swiftly implemented.

Ex-ZIFA Executives Drag State To Court

FORMER Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) executives Felton Kamambo, Brighton Malandule, Philemon Machana, Stanley Chapeta and Joseph Mamutse facing fraud charges emanating from a clash with the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) have taken the fight for their freedom to the Constitutional Court.

On Friday, the five notified the court of their intention to take the matter to the apex court indicating their displeasure in how the State has handled the matter.

They are accused of writing letters on Zifa letterhead purporting to be executive committee members at a time they were on suspension.

The State has refused to withdraw the allegations despite the SRC which is the complainant pulling out of the matter.

They believe the State’s conduct is bad for football as the withdrawal by SRC was part of their agreement with FIFA, the world football governing board to have the nation restored to international football after a two-year ban.

Represented by Admire Rubaya believe their rights are being violated by the prosecution and want the apex court to determine the lawfulness of their prosecution.

“The accused persons are facing allegations arising from a criminal complaint lodged by SRC, and the trial has commenced before you. Midway, the SRC has effectively informed the prosecutor general that they are withdrawing the charges against the accused.

“The chairman of SRC, Gerald Mlothswa on June 14 2023, advised the then acting prosecutor general Nelson Mutsonziwa that SRC no longer considered itself the complainant in the matter. The SRC is the only witness of critical importance and we are saying whatever the State wants to do must be in terms of the law. The withdrawal by SRC was used as one of the basis to uplift the ban on ZIFA,” Rubaya submitted.

They are seeking to have the top court intervene and protect their constitutional right to liberty.

“The process the State wants to undertake is an abuse of the court process. The decision of the prosecution is moral defilement and unlawful deprivation of accused personal liberty. It is their belief that the process is unconstitutional,” he added.

Controversial Zanu PF MP Scott Sakupwanya Implicated In Drug Peddling Scandal With A Relative

By A Correspondent| Serious allegations of a well-organized drug syndicate have surfaced against Zanu PF Mabvuku-Tafara Member of Parliament and President Mnangagwa’s associate, Scott Sakupwanya, and his relative Mavis, as this publication can authoritatively reveal.

The accusations suggest that Mavis serves as Scott’s conduit in drug trafficking and peddling, casting a shadow on the gold dealer.

Our month-long investigation has uncovered that Mavis (Sakupwanya) operates from two bases – Cresta Oasis and Raylton Sports Club.

These claims have sparked concern, prompting a closer examination of the connections and operations surrounding these infamous locations.

Multiple sources have informed this publication that Scott and his associates are both consumers and sponsors of this alleged drug cartel.

It is further alleged that Mavis receives protection from Scott and her father, Air Commodore Sakupwanya.

“She enjoys protection from top figures, including Scott and Air Commodore Sakupwanya,”

When approached for comment, Mavis neither confirmed nor denied the allegations; instead, she took a confrontational stance.

She vehemently dismissed the claims and issued a stern warning to the reporter, threatening legal action.

“I will not hesitate to take action against you,” she declared.

This development comes a week after the Zimbabwe Republic Police announced a list of top drug dealers, seemingly overlooking high-profile individuals, including newly elected Mbare councillor Dhama, who was once incarcerated.

Welshman Insists He’s Right On Mabvazuva

Battle Against Drug Abuse Is Everyone’s Responsibility

FULL TEXT- Newly sworn in MP Scott Sakupwanya’s parliamentary debate submissions

Thank you Mr. Speaker Sir.  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank you for the opportunity to add my views on the proposed 2024 budget. Firstly, I want to highlight that the projected reality of the upcoming 2024 year will form the premise of my debate.

The anticipated effects of the El Nino drought which we can feel even now, means beyond food security, we have to consider the massive drop in water levels which will have a ripple effect on the ability of the Kariba hydro plant to supply adequate electricity, thereby also affecting manufacturing and industry, coupling this with global challenges that we expect to be facing next year.

It is a marvel that the Hon. Minister has projected that we will reach 3,5% growth in the 2024 year. In light of this, I must applaud the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion for including the $300 COVID Allowance towards the pension as this will protect our Civil Service and encourage the aspect of proper budgeting.

On the Wealth Tax, this is by definition, a proper initiative and I would like to thank our Minister for the proposition. However, I would like to propose that the tax condition should be limited to those who have two or more properties, the first one being exempted as a primary residence.

This will ensure that you are not just hitting someone who has had his primary residence and who has worked hard for that particular residence out of the blue, but instead, you are saying who is going to enjoy further investments from additional residences out of their primary residence will be falling under that Wealth Tax.

Given the difficult year ahead and with our challenges to have access to finance due to the punitive sanctions, again I applaud the Ministers for finding ways to finance our road infrastructure.  In Manicaland, we have a big challenge at the Forbes Border Post, the massive increase in productivity has led to long queues that lead to Mutare Town.

All this is happening before the Sabi Star Lithium Mine in Buhera starts exporting its product at full capacity.  This means that at its full capacity; we will have more than 100 trucks in a month, working our roads and extending the queues at the Forbes Boarder Post.

To this effect, the proposed marginal fuel levy is a welcome development.  I support that it be ring-fenced towards road infrastructure.  In the same vein, the toll fee increase suggested is also a welcome initiative to add to the funds needed for road infrastructure and development.

Mr. Speaker Sir, I must say that adding to road infrastructure should not just be on a quantitive basis, but on a qualitative one.  It is not enough to say that we need to add on to the roads, but we must also need to maintain the roads so that we have a standard that cuts across as our economy grows.

I want to take in the recommendation again of the Finance Committee that the public transport would ordinarily carry the low-income earners, that they be exempted from this toll fee increase.  Mr. Speaker Sir, I agree with the two cents per gram levy on beverages.  This is not a sugar tax itself which is a basic necessity, but on the beverages that are not classified as basic commodities.

Having heard sentiments alluding to the probability of smuggling, one should not be afraid to implement a progressive policy out of fear of illegality.  This is why we have our security sector at the border post and to ensure we protect local industry from the effects of smuggling.

So, I propose that the Minister, in the same vein, also increases the budget of the Ministry of Home Affairs which deals with border control and smuggling which was originally allocated 3,9 trillion against the budget requirement of 9,5 trillion.

As we consider the sugar tax, which is a progressive tax, I would also, in the same vein, highlight to the Minister of Finance that drug and substance abuse is a scourge that has affected our nation.

So whether it be under this budget consideration or future consideration, I suggest that the Minister must look into creating a fund that is directed towards drug and substance abuse.    In this vein, the Minster must consider putting a tax on alcohol in the same way that he implemented towards sugar tax.

Mr. Speaker Sir, as a youth, education is a priority for the future of our country. In this light, I want to highlight under the Ministry of War Veterans Affairs where they stated that under their education, only one billion was allocated out of a requirement of 136 billion.  This is only 15% of the students that are already attending school.

In the first term of 2024, only half of the students that go to school would have fully paid school fees.  The rest will not have fees paid for them and this is for War Veterans, people who went to war, and people who suffered injuries only for their families to be insulted in that way.

Mr. Speaker Sir, it is my humble plea that we urge the Ministry of Finance to put more weight, especially on the Education of the children of War Veterans, and meet the demand to show our appreciation for their efforts of having gone to the war.  We know they did not have the opportunity to go to school themselves, but at least let us allow their children to get a decent education without any disturbance.

Last but not least, I would want to just say, having heard all the arguments that I appreciate the Minister of Finance for continuing with a pro-poor budget, and I recommend that the Minister of Finance must be behold in ensuring that mechanisms are put in place, especially for the ring-fenced taxes that he suggested.

If indeed we are talking about ring-fencing for mining communities, let that amount go back to the mining community, be it Penhalonga, Buhera, or Mashonaland Central – it must follow that the last person on the ground can feel that the taxes are working.  With that, I humbly submit

Shops hike prices

Some shops have hiked prices on basic grocery items, making the festive season increasingly gloomy for most citizens already struggling to make ends meet.

According to a survey conducted by a local publication, shops have increased the prices of mealie-meal, sugar, cooking oil, rice and sugar, among others, even in United States dollars.

In some retail shops, a 2-litre bottle of cooking oil, which was selling at US$3, now costs US$4.50, while the price of a 2kg pack of rice rose to US$3.50 from US$2.

The price of a 2-litre bottle of Mazoe Crush rose to US$4,50 from $3, while a bar of washing soap now costs US$1.50 from US$1.

However, the Minister of Industry and Commerce Sithembiso Nyoni told NewsDay on Thursday that the Government will not impose price controls, but engage business over the price increases. She said:

Government does not tame prices. What we do is we discuss with the business and try to understand why they are hiking prices.

So, I will set up an office to look into that and then we will take the necessary dialogue steps to look into that.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) president Denford Mutashu warned of further price hikes.

He blamed the price increases on proposals to increase taxes by Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Mthuli Ncube in the 2024 budget. Said Mutashu:

There is a huge expectation of more price hikes before year-end and this has been triggered by the barrage of taxes on basic commodities contained in the 2024 budget.

The proposal to increase VAT [value-added tax] on basic commodities shocked the market because, since 1980, we have not had a hike on VAT on basic commodities.

The 1% wealth tax proposal has also resulted in property owners raising their rental fees.

So, business owners who rent property will increase the prices of the services and commodities.

He said the daily power cuts have increased the cost of running business as businesses are forced to rely on generators as alternative power sources. Mutashu said:

Big businesses are running on generators as a power source and it is not sustainable. It is not cost-effective, so all these cost drivers have piled pressure.

If there is no reversal of VAT on basic commodities and VAT on school fees, it is going to be a disaster because already schools have increased fees to cushion themselves from the VAT proposal.

Some schools have reportedly announced intentions to increase fees by up to 100% next term.

Mthuli Ncube increases luxury vehicles importation duty charges

Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister, Mthuli Ncube has increased the import duty on the importation of luxury vehicles beginning 01 January 2024.

The new rates are contained in Statutory Instrument 239A of 2023 published in an extraordinary Government Gazette on Wednesday in terms of the Customs and Excise Act and may be cited as the Customs and Excise (Surcharge) Notice, 2023. It reads in part:

A surcharge specified in the Schedule to this notice shall apply on motor vehicles with Free On-Board values specified therein. The surcharge shall not apply to motor vehicles of a commercial nature and importations by Government.

Statutory Instrument 239A of 2023 stipulates that vehicles with a Free On Board value of between US$120 000 and US$300 000 will pay a surcharge of 30 per cent, while those valued at US$300 001 to US$700 000 will be taxed at 40 per cent while those above US$700 000 will pay 50 per cent of the value.
The new Statutory Instrument will repeal Statutory Instrument 87 of 2023 which prescribed a surcharge of 30 percent on vehicles valued at US$120 000 or more which shall cease to apply on 31 December 2023.

“Pay back bride price”: High court orders

By A Correspondent- The High Court has set aside a decision that ordered a Karoi man to pay back US$2 700 bride price to his son-in-law after his wife cheated on him.

Charles Bandera sued his son-in-law, Maxmillan Kondowe, appealing against a default judgment that ordered him to return the money after his daughter, Shumirai Bandera, committed adultery.

Maxmillan married Shumirai at a ceremony in Karoi sometime in March 2021 but was told he could only start living with her as his wife after their wedding.

But just two months after the lobola ceremony, Maxmillan discovered that Shumirai was sexually involved with another man. He confronted her and she allegedly confessed to the adultery in Harare.

Maxmillan went on to institute customary marriage divorce proceedings and the couple’s marriage was dissolved in January 2022.

He then served summons on Kondowe his father-in-law to return his bride price.

Kondowe failed to enter his appearance to defend the action leading the court to grant a default judgment in August 2022 that ordered him to return Maxmillan’s bride price.

After discovering that a Messenger of Court was deployed to execute the judgment, Kondowe applied for rescission of the same which was countered by Maxmillan’s application to stay the execution.

Job Sikhala’s Letter From Chikurubi Maximum Prison

My dearest friends, today marks exactly one and half years, that is, the full 18 months under persecution, incarceration in a meter by two and half meters solitary confinement in Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison by the regime in Zimbabwe since my arrest on the 14th of June 2023. During this period hot weather and electricity blackouts in the dark solitary dungeon where you can hold the thick of darkness, I wake up during the middle of the night, the room is fully flooded with my sweat, mosquitos having completed feasting breakfast, lunch and supper from my bare body.

It is now eleven days from Christmas, and 18days from New Year.

It’s sad that nation is now bereft of moral leaders since the bewitching of Arch Bishop Pius Ncube Mercenarism has crippled inn.

ZW$500k bail for Bindura man nabbed for insulting ED

A 37 year old man from Bindura, Mashonaland Central Province, Patrick Kingirasi, who was arrested on allegations of undermining the authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been granted ZWL$500 000 bail.

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) said that Kingirasi, an unemployed resident of Bindura, was arrested last month and spent 24 days in pre-trial detention in Bindura Prison.

On Tuesday, 12 December, Bindura Magistrate Ndokera set Kingirasi free after granting him ZWL$500 000 bail.

Kingirasi, who was represented by human rights lawyer Pride Dzapasi, returns to court on 15 December. ZLHR said:

Prosecutors alleged that Kingirasi who is represented by [Pride P Dzapasi] undermined and insulted President Mnangagwa on 2 October, when he called Edson Chibaya, a fellow Bindura resident, on his mobile phone and made some utterances to the effect that the ruling ZANU PF political party members were thieves and blamed the ruling party’s leader for causing massive suffering among citizens and for authoring the country’s economic crisis.

Kingirasi is alleged to have shouted at Chibaya in the Shona language that “Musandiitire zvechimbavha zve ZANU PF nava Mnangagwa venyu varikutipa kutambura,” which prosecuting authorities translated to mean “Do not be thievery in ZANU PF way with your Mnangagwa, who is causing us to suffer.”

Prosecutors said Kingirasi’s alleged utterances were unlawful, intentional, abusive, indecent and abusive.

The Bindura resident is the latest among dozens of Zimbabweans, who have been arrested, detained and prosecuted on charges of undermining the authority of or insulting President Mnangagwa.

During the reign of Robert Mugabe, the country’s late leader, more than 200 people were prosecuted and persecuted on the same nefarious charges of undermining the authority of or insulting the President, charges which continue to be preferred against citizens in the post-Mugabe era.

Trio in soup over leaked exam

By A Correspondent- Three students from TelOne Centre of Learning who allegedly sold a leaked HEXCO Engineering and Mathematics paper that was written last week to some first year counterparts have appeared in court today.

Elton James, Kudzai Shepherd Chimutsa and Bradley Mangombe appeared before Harare Magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi facing possession of articles for criminal use.

They were remanded out of custody on $50 bail each and will be back in court on January 18, 2024 for trial date.

The State alleged that on December 8, the complainant, TelOne Centre of Learning represented by Josephine Muzhangiri received information that examination papers which were being written have leaked at the institution.

She then started doing some internal investigations which revealed that Nicolette Rukasha and Princess Gunduza who are Part 1.1 students at the institution were seen in possession of the leaked HEXCO Engineering Mathematics Paper 1 which had been written on December 7 at the institution.

They were asked and revealed that they bought the leaked examination paper from Mangombe and Chimutsa.

Mangombe was approached and he led Muzhangiri to Chimutsa who he said was the one who sold it to Rukasha and Gunduza.

Chimutsa, upon being interrogated, revealed that he got it from Elton James leading to the arrest of James, Chimutsa and Mangombe.

Stolen loot found in church

By A Correspondent- A caretaker from Plumtree, Ishmael Dube, found himself in legal trouble last week, resulting in the revelation of his stolen possessions hidden within a church building.

Dube faced charges at the Plumtree Magistrates Court on Wednesday, presided over by Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who subsequently sentenced him to two years in jail. This verdict came after Dube pleaded guilty, with six months of the sentence conditionally suspended.

According to the prosecution led by Selestine Madziwa, the incident occurred on December 7 when Thandiwe Mbewe secured her homestead and left. Upon her return, she discovered that Dube had unlawfully entered her residence by breaking a window.

The convict made off with several items, including blankets, clothes, a microphone, a drilling machine, and a wood cutting machine. Subsequently, Dube stored his stolen goods in a church building, presumably for safekeeping.

Upon returning home the next day, Mbewe realized her belongings had been stolen. During her search for the missing items, she located some of them within a nearby church. Promptly, a police report was filed, leading to Dube’s subsequent arrest.

In court, Dube admitted to the charges, resulting in his conviction and the imposed sentence. Magistrate Nembaware, in delivering the verdict, opted for a two-year jail term, with six months conditionally suspended, highlighting the severity of Dube’s actions and the impact on the victim.

“No iota of evidence”: Sikhala fumes

By A Correspondent- Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) lawmaker, Job Sikhala, currently languishing at Chikurubi Maximum Prison on alleged violence incitement, on Wednesday stood to defend himself as his defence hearing commenced before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti.

The veteran politician is jointly charged with CCC MP Godfrey Sithole.

The two are accused of inciting public violence during the tense period which followed the shock killing of CCC activist Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza May last year.

The state bases its evidence on a video image of Sikhala demanding justice for the slain activist.

The two had their application for discharge dismissed recently after the court ruled they had a case to answer.

On Wednesday, Sikhala, also a lawyer, took a swipe at prosecutors he accused of incompetence in handling the case.

The state alleged that charges against the fiery politician and rights activist arose from a video he allegedly captured and published with local media.

But Sikhala said no one from the publication testified when the state led evidence into his trial.

“They failed to produce any iota of evidence,” Sikhala said.

“I’ve been in a lot of cases in this court, but I have never come across such embarrassing evidence like the one that was produced by the State in this case.

“I was expecting the State to prove through their witnesses the evidence that I had posted any video which they failed to do with their four witnesses.”

Sikhala singled out Gift Mutara, the IO in his case, saying he failed to produce evidence to prove the case.

“During his testimony and cross examination, he was asked to produce that evidence and he said he did have it before this court,” he said.

Sikhala also said prosecutors failed to support a claim that he ferried mourners to Nyatsime area.

“The allegations that I supplied transport to people in Nyatsime are the lies the State has been peddling in this court.

“That’s why we made an application for the entire outline to be expunged from the record because none of the witnesses could support it,” he said.

The trial will continue on December 19.

Tension in Zanu Pf backyard

By A Correspondent- Simmering tension has absorbed the ruling Zanu-PF in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Midlands backyard, stoked by the party’s provincial leadership’s decision to block scheduled disciplinary hearings for his allies who lost in primary elections and tried to canvass protest votes against the winning candidates in the 23 August polls.

In a memo to district coordinating committees and senior provincial members on Monday last week, acting Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Edson Chiherenge notified that disciplinary hearings would be held 6 December.

Part of the memo reads: “All members of the party who were summoned to appear before the Midlands provincial disciplinary committee are directed to report at the Zanu-PF provincial offices on (Wednesday) December 6, 2023.”

However, the following day, Chiherenge wrote another memo cancelling the scheduled hearings.

“Please be advised that the acting Midlands provincial chairman has ordered the nullification of all disciplinary processes within the Midlands province. All notices of hearings and prohibition orders issued out are no longer valid,” he wrote.

Sources told The NewsHawks that the directive to block the hearings had come to the Midlands Zanu-PF leadership from higher offices at party headquarters in Harare after it was discovered that Mnangagwa’s allies such as Justice Mayor Wadyajena were in the firing line.

Wadyajena, who lost to Flora Buka during the primaries, was placed on suspension after being accused of sabotaging her campaign rallies and canvassing for protest votes.

“The cancelling of the hearings has now sowed seeds of division in the party and people in the structures of the party are agonising. They are saying no one must be bigger than the party,” an impeccable source told The NewsHawks.

“People in the party expected justice to be done on those charged and suspended for indiscipline. The party is being weakened by things like this and the tension at the moment is at its highest levels.”

Other sources highlighted that without any punishment being seen to be imposed on those who erred ahead of the 23 August elections, internal healing of those aggrieved will continue to affect party business in the Midlands.

“All is not well in Zanu-PF Midlands. The people are angry and this is now adding to the disgruntlement on candidate selection ahead of the elections where certain comrades were imposed,” another source told The NewsHawks.

In March this year, Mnangagwa’s close allies in his Midlands backyard were exempted from being challenged by other party officials in Zanu-PF primary elections ahead of the 23 August elections, in a development that fomented political tension.

These included cabinet minister July Moyo, who was listed as an unopposed candidate for Redcliff constituency; former minister of State in the President’s Office in Charge of Policy Implementation Jorum Gumbo, who went on to represent the ruling party in Mberengwa unopposed as a senator and former State Security minister Owen Ncube, who contested in Gokwe-Kana constituency.

In Kwekwe Central, Energy Ncube, the nephew of former State Security minister Owen “Mudha” Ncube, was imposed as an automatic candidate ahead of former city deputy mayor John Mapuranga who represented the party in last year’s 26 March by-elections and Archbishop Kandros Mugabe, a prominent gold baron who represented the party in the 2018 general polls.

In Chiundura, there was an uproar after accusations of rigging against former Vungu Rural District Council chairperson Celton Charamba, who was initially announced the winner, but political commissar Mike Bimha overturned his victory on the final list made public in Harare. Slemani Kwidini was subsequently declared winner.

In Zhombe constituency there was massive disgruntlement after Mnangagwa’s ally Edmore Samambwa was declared an uncontested candidate despite the fact that several members had forwarded their applications to the provincial leadership expressing interest in contesting at that time.

Samambwa is Mnangagwa’s long-time ally. He was suspended as Midlands Zanu-PF youth chairperson in March 2016 for supporting the Mnangagwa faction at a time the camp was battling the G40 faction in the race to succeed the then president Robert Mugabe.

In May, Zanu-PF accordingly dispatched two senior party officials, Tino Machakaire and Lovemore Matuke to the Midlands to hold crisis meetings following the political turmoil that has gripped Mnangagwa’s home province ahead of the August general elections.

The mayhem emanated from the holding of controversial primary elections to choose party candidates which were marred by accusations of internal vote rigging. As a result, popular party members fell by the wayside while Mnangagwa’s associates were exempted from the intra-party contestation.

The latest developments in which Mnangagwa’s allies have been pardoned before hearings are therefore worsening the already existing tension in the ruling party in the Midlands province.

Tshabangu recalls Mayor Chitengu

By A Correspondent- The City of Harare will have its fourth mayor in four months after local government minister Winston Chitando confirmed the recall of Lovejoy Chitengu as councillor for Ward 36.

The recall instigated by Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be CCC interim secretary general, was originally communicated to the local authority on November 13 by Chitando – before Chitengu was voted mayor.

Following a series of back and forth letters with the City of Harare, Chitando clarified in a December 11 letter to Harare’s town clerk: “Reference is made to… our minute to yourselves dated November 13; your minute to ourselves dated November 16 and the received communication from Citizens Coalition for Changs dated November 26 on the matter of Lovejoy Chitengu who has ceased to be a member.

“In terms of section 278(1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe as read with section 129(1)(k), ward 36 is vacant.

“Please proceed to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission of the vacancy.”

Jacob Mafume was Harare mayor until the August 23 general elections. Councillors elected Ian Makone as Harare mayor on September 11 before he was recalled by Tshabangu on November 13.

Curiously, the same communication of Makone’s recall sent by Chitando on November 13 also contained Chitengu’s name, but he carried on regardless and Harare councillors subsequently elected him mayor on November 21.

The local authority must now elect a new mayor, the fourth for the city since August.

The Citizens Coalition for Change led by Nelson Chamisa which sponsored the recalled councillors is fighting in court to reestablish authority after5 dismissing Tshabangu as an impostor.

CCC threatens street protests

By A Correspondent- The Citizens Coalition for Change’s (CCC) Youth Task Force in Bulawayo has threatened street protests if urgent electoral reforms are not implemented.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, 14 December, CCC Task Force National Administrator Pashor Raphael Sibanda, who was elected Cowdray Park MP in August before he was recalled by Sengezo Tshabangu in October, alleged that key State institutions such as the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), the judiciary system, and ZRP have been captured by ZANU PF.

Sibanda said CCC representatives were illegally recalled from both parliament and local governments with the help of the “captured” institutions. Senzeni Ncube of CITE quoted Sibanda as saying:

We are aware of the Zanu-PF agenda to try to steal the will of the people and undermine the role of the alternative in the country.

We have noted imposters, fraudsters and criminals being used by the regime as political condoms to collapse the people’s movement and aid a one-party state through illegal recalls.

We want to send a clear message to the regime to reform as a matter of urgency and let the will of the people be respected and protected.

Failure to do so the streets shall be the avenue of our struggle.

Responding to Sibanda’s utterances, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba mocked the former legislator and described him as “a mere deviant boy”. Charamba posted on X:

SITUATING PASHOR SIBANDA: PASHOR is not important as a person; if anything, he is a mere deviant boy who has yet to secure any form of employment in his life.

PASHOR is important as an incarnation of Triple C’s desperate rethink, buttressed by resolutions of what is termed the Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders’ Network which held its “summit” in Namibia from 22 to 24 November 2023.

At that meeting – which the State covered – there was a decision to change tact towards more confrontational politics, with Triple C getting direct funding, as happened to MDC during Tsvangirai days, and to Hichilema’s UPND before the Lungu defeat.

More importantly, a decision was taken to found a more youthful and militant leadership for the opposition, with four names suggested as foremost. I shall have occasion to reveal them.

A follow-up meeting was scheduled for 5th December, in Lusaka, Zambia. Again, I will apprise you at an appropriate time. Essentially this Western outfit is a Third Force in the making, which is why Chamisa is very worried.

It threatens to supersede him, forcing him to go suicidal through dull brawn actors like Pashor and Mkwananzi.

Of course, these boys of brawn will soon learn – like the proverbial burnt child – to dread fire!!!! Ndapedza; vanzwa vatonzwa!

Biti, Prof Ncube booted out

By A Correspondent- In a surprising turn of events, Nelson Chamisa, one of the leaders of the Citizens for Change Coalition (CCC), has raised eyebrows by instructing the removal of his long-time allies, Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube, from the crucial WhatsApp group known as “Mugwazo.” This move has left many within the party questioning Chamisa’s leadership and intentions.

The Mugwazo group, initially formed to coordinate the mobilisation of rural voters ahead of the 23rd August 2023 elections, continued to function as a central hub for CCC coordination and internal discussions post-elections. It is from this platform that Chamisa decided to oust Biti and Ncube, two senior members who had been instrumental in the party’s foundation.

Critics argue that Chamisa’s decision to remove Biti and Ncube from this pivotal platform is a betrayal of trust and a testament to his unquenchable thirst for power. This action reflects a lack of respect and transparency within the party’s leadership.

Chamisa’s alleged history of betrayals doesn’t stop at Biti and Ncube. Job Sikhala, another prominent CCC member, was allegedly abandoned by Chamisa after being encouraged to incite violence during a previous period of political turmoil. When Sikhala faced legal consequences for his actions, Chamisa purportedly distanced himself, leaving Sikhala and his family to deal with the aftermath.

This pattern of behaviour has led some to label Chamisa as a heartless and self-centred leader, prioritising his own political survival over the welfare of his colleagues and the party’s unity.

The internal strife within the CCC has raised concerns about the party’s stability and unity. Biti, Ncube, and Sikhala, all founding members of the CCC and its predecessor, the MDC, have a history of forming their own political parties when disagreements arise. This has led to speculation that the CCC may be on the verge of a split, with the trio potentially pursuing their individual political agendas.

What adds to the bitterness of the situation is that Biti, Ncube, and Sikhala are seen as mentors who nurtured Chamisa’s political career. Their disillusionment at his recent actions has left many scratching their heads at the apparent betrayal.

Furthermore, Amos Chibaya, the CCC National Organising Secretary and a long-time friend of the trio, has been accused of collaborating with Chamisa to push them aside. Chibaya’s role as a trusted confidant of Chamisa has led some to view him as a personal weapon wielded by the leader to eliminate perceived threats within the party.

This internal discord within the CCC comes at a time when ZANU PF is gaining strength as recent by-elections saw ZANU PF making significant inroads into CCC strongholds, winning seven out of nine possible constituencies. ZANU PF legislators from other provinces actively supported their party’s candidates outside their respective regions, demonstrating a unified front that has attracted attention.

ZANU PF’s professionalism, unity, and clear policies have lured several opposition members, exacerbating the CCC’s woes. With the CCC facing internal strife and a resurgent ZANU PF, the political landscape in Zimbabwe remains uncertain, and the future of the CCC hangs in the balance.

Leaked Job Sikhala 2022 Video Dilutes Welshman’s Mabvazuva Tweet

JOB SIKHALA, CHAMISA VIDEO BELOW – JAN 2022.

Despite none of the celebrities surpassing the age of 40, it is important to highlight the diversity in ages at which they passed away. Hugh Masekela died at 78; Gloria Bosman was 50 at death; Mahlathini was 62 when he died.

CCC Takes On Emmerson Mnangagwa

Addressing the media in Harare on Wednesday, CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi described as worrisome the blatant violation of human rights by Mr Mnangagwa’s administration.

“We want a permanent political solution to the deepening crisis in Zimbabwe.

The economy is falling apart and the regime has failed to avert the impending catastrophe,” said Mkwananzi.

Did This Father Marry His Daughter to A Goblin?

The Chinzou family of Gosho Village in Chigodora is caught in the grips of chaos as allegations arise that Aleck Chinzou, the patriarch, has married off his daughter, Christina Chinzou, to a goblin. The bizarre situation has left the family grappling with mysterious misfortunes, including the recent tragic death of Christina’s brother.

Christina presented her case before Headman Chigodora’s community court, claiming that her life has become a living hell due to alleged goblin marriage orchestrated by her father. She asserted that each time she enters into a relationship, she experiences mental illness, turning violent and resulting in the breakdown of the connection. She further accused her father of being the cause of her torment.

Adding to the family’s woes, Christina revealed that her brother recently perished in a mysterious fire, and spiritual healers pointed fingers at Aleck Chinzou as the instigator of the tragedy. The brother’s demise followed a summon to discuss the string of misfortunes plaguing the family.

Aleck vehemently denied the accusations, asserting that Christina feigned mental illness due to her own stubbornness. He argued that his daughter’s violent tendencies toward suitors were the real reason for her failed relationships. Aleck also pointed the finger at his son Bylord, suggesting a feud over the late son’s estate as a possible motive behind the family turmoil.

In a counterclaim, Bylord accused his father of wanting to seize his late brother’s estate and insisted that Aleck’s refusal to consult spiritual healers further fueled suspicions. The family drama has reached such a crescendo that Headman Chigodora ordered the Chinzou family to consult three traditional healers to resolve the matter.

The case remains adjourned until tomorrow as the family awaits the outcome of the traditional healers’ consultations. The Chigodora community watches with bated breath as the truth behind the goblin marriage allegations and the mysterious misfortunes unravel in this bewildering family saga.- State Media

CCC Youth Unleash Street Protests, Targeting Mnangagwa Over Electoral Frauds

CCC press conference

Bulawayo,

Bulawayo– The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Youth Task Force is set to escalate its protest, directing its fervor towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa, as urgent electoral reforms remain elusive. In a charged press conference led by CCC Task Force National Administrator Pashor Raphael Sibanda, key Zimbabwean institutions were accused of colluding to thwart democratic processes.

Sibanda alleged that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), the judiciary, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are acting in concert with the ruling Zanu-PF, orchestrating what he deemed an illegitimate recall of CCC representatives from various government positions.

“Zanu-PF’s agenda to manipulate the will of the people and suppress the alternative voice is clear. The regime employs impostors, fraudsters, and criminals as political tools to dismantle our movement and pave the way for a one-party state through questionable recalls,” declared Sibanda.

The CCC Youth Task Force, in a bold move, explicitly targeted President Mnangagwa in their call for action. Sibanda stated, “We want to send a strong message to President Mnangagwa and his regime. The proposed 2024 National budget is anti-people, and we reject it unequivocally. Our MPs must debate and reject this budget, standing against policies that perpetuate the economic decay of our nation.”

Affirming the CCC’s role as a leading force, Sibanda emphasized, “As the party entrusted by the people to guide the country’s future, we declare that we are the present and future of this nation. We won’t tolerate any organization in Harare undermining the people’s will, particularly here in Bulawayo province.”

The press conference concluded with a defiant stance, as Sibanda asserted that the youth are ready to defend, advance, and secure the future for generations to come. “We demand immediate reforms from President Mnangagwa’s regime to respect and safeguard the will of the people. Failing which, the streets will become the battleground of our struggle, with Mnangagwa squarely in our sights,” he warned.- CITE
