Chamisa To Stop ED Election “Tricks”

By A Correspondent- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has vowed to stop President Emmerson Mnangagwa from manipulating the forthcoming elections through unorthodox means as the two prepare for another poll showdown.

Mnangagwa (80) will seek re-election later this year for what must be his final term in office and is likely to face Chamisa (45) in a repeat of the 2018 contest where the Zanu-PF leader narrowly escaped defeat.

Chamisa said Mnangagwa was frustrating all efforts to have free and fair elections and compared him to Rhodesian leader Ian Smith.

Chamisa recently met the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) electoral advisor Likhwa Dlamini and the two discussed a number of electoral issues.

On Friday, the CCC leader met British ambassador to Zimbabwe, Melanie Robinson and also discussed various issues to promote the holding of credible actions.

CCC has raised complaints against various electoral malpractices including failure by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) to avail the voters’ roll to opposition parties.

“The Smith spirit has possessed Mr Mnangagwa,” Chamisa said in an interview with The Standard.

“I do not know why the demon of Rhodesia has to come back unto our fellow African brothers and sisters.

“The one man one vote is the reason we attained liberation, so if you are now taking away with the left hand what you got with the right hand it is unacceptable, we will not allow it.

“Let the people vote freely. Let there be no coercion.”

Zec has been refusing to release the voters’ roll claiming that it is trying to protect voters’ personal details.

However, Mangagwa has been sending potential voters campaign messages via WhatsApp in what observers say is an indication that Zanu-PF has been secretly given the voters’ roll.

Data analysts have exposed a number of discrepancies in the voters’ roll.

“Let the voters’ roll be availed and let it be audited,” Chamisa said.

“Let the ballot paper be printed by an acceptable and agreed institution. We do not want double voting.

“We saw in the recent Zanu-PF primary election where even our people voted — they were forced to go and vote — they did not get over 1.2 million people.”

Last week, Mnangagwa said he would proclaim this years’ election date at the end of next month.

Chamisa said the call for a free and fair election in Zimbabwe was synonymous with all states across the globe.

“The story and clamour for free, fair and credible elections is global and universal,” Chamisa said.

“The call for legislative reforms that will promote   an uncontested, uncontaminated, undisputed election is a general expectation by citizens in the world and citizens  in the country.

“It is our hope that certain issues that we raised will be addressed to stop the abuse of key institutions and also the traditional leaders, who are being abused and forced to participate in elections.”

A European Union (EU) observer mission last year noted that Zimbabwe had failed to take steps to implement electoral reforms that would guarantee free and fair elections next year.

The EU mission made 23 recommendations after the hotly contested 2018 elections, including the alignment of the Electoral Act to the constitution and ensuring the independence of the Zec.

Over 11k Houses In Epworth- ED Hands Over 265 Title Deeds

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said all households in Epworth, Harare will eventually get title deeds for their properties.

Epworth constituency is located in Harare Province comprising of Stopover, Zinyengere, Pentagon, Magada, Overspill, Maulana, Donhoro, Munyuki and Danastein. It is situated to the south east and 12 kilometres from Harare Central Business District area.

Being located at the fringes of Harare, most of the settlements of the constituency are largely informal with shacks and poorly built houses

Title deeds are legal documents that demonstrate ownership or title to a particular piece of property.

They are important for establishing a clear title to the property and can be used as evidence in disputes over ownership or boundaries.

The Sunday News reported that on Saturday, 22 April, more than 265 title deeds were handed over to property owners in Epworth, with 11 000 more already processed.

The title deeds were handed over to residents by Mnangagwa at the launch of the Presidential Title Deeds and Settlement Regularisation Programme at Epworth High School.

According to the. ZimStat Census Report of 2022, Epworth

Speaking at the event, Mnangagwa said the documents will provide security tenure for beneficiaries and protect them from land barons. He said:

The programme is one of the many responsive interventions by the Second Republic to improve the quality of life and livelihoods of our citizens.

The title deeds being issued today are an important empowerment tool and a legal document that gives beneficiaries several rights, which include ownership and security of tenure, and disposal and transfer of ownership from one person to another.

The title deeds also outline the land boundaries of the property and other related conditions.

I, therefore, call upon all the families being issued with title deeds to keep the documents in a safe and secure place.

The process of producing title deeds is very thorough and involves various ministries, agencies and departments working together under the Whole-of-Government approach.

This guarantees the security of the final title deeds and protects against counterfeit or fake documents.

The days when people would lose their hard-earned savings to unscrupulous merchants and land barons who sell land without any documentation are now behind us.

Mnangagwa said the programme was going to be rolled out in all the country’s 10 provinces. He said:

Following today’s historic milestone, the Presidential Title Deeds and Settlement Regularisation Programme is set to be rolled out to other provinces.

This event demonstrates that we have the political will and technical skills to deliver while sufficient resources are and available to support this exercise.

No one and no place or suburb or township will be left behind. Together, let us continue to build smart, sustainable and orderly human settlements.

He said a master plan which outlines the location of schools, clinics, hospitals, commercial and industrial sites has been developed for regularisation of suburb.

The President said the second phase will involve servicing of land, construction of roads, improvement of electricity and bulk water supply infrastructure, as well as modern sewer and waste management facilities.

By A Correspondent- A Harare man was yesterday whisked away by state security agents and beaten up after he tried to confront President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was delivering a speech in Epworth in the capital.

Mnangagwa was in Epworth where he handed over 265 securitised title deeds to residents of the settlement.

As he was delivering a speech, a young man breached security and raced to the stage to confront Mnangagwa who is blamed by the opposition for the country’s socio-economic crisis, but was stopped a few metres away.

He was taken behind a VVIP tent where he was beaten up.

At the event, Mnangagwa pleaded with Epworth residents to vote for Zanu-PF after they were given the title deeds.

Machete Wielding Lodger Chases Rent Asking Landlord

By A Correspondent- A Mutare man who was asking for his rentals was allegedly forced to desert his home after his machete-wielding nephew chased him for making the demands.

The matter was heard at the Mutare Civil Court where Ruka Zimunya had hauled his nephew, Julius Kamunda, for a peace order application.

Magistrate Mr Xavier Chipato granted the peace order in Zimunya’s favour.

The order is valid for a year.

Kamunda was instructed not to insult, harass or threaten Zimunya, and to keep peace at all the times.

Zimunya was also advised to apply for an eviction order if he no longer wants to stay with Kamunda.

Zimunya told the court that he grew up in the same village with Kamunda and knew his parents very well.

Following the death of Kamunda’s parents and noticing how he had fallen on hard times, Zimunya took him in.

They allegedly agreed that Kamunda would pay USD$10 as monthly rentals.

However, Kamunda only paid the agreed amount for two months.

He is my nephew, and we grew up together. After discovering that things were not good for him following the death of his parents, I decided to take him to my village so that he could stay at my house, look after my cattle and work in the fields.

“However, we agreed that he would pay monthly rentals of USD$10. Unfortunately, he only paid for two months. I started staying with him in 2021 and this is now 2023,” said Zimunya.

He said he tried to settle the issue amicably, but Kamunda failed to comply, until his uncle ended up reporting him to the rent board.

Still, Kamunda refused to pay the rentals.

“I went to the rent board after Kamunda had repeatedly refused to pay my rentals. I was advised to give him a notice, which I served him, but up until now he is still refusing to vacate the room,” said Zimunya.

“After I served him with the notice, he chased me away from my own house with a machete. All my neighbours were watching, and I fled to the fields for my own safety.

“I later approached Chief Zimunya. Kamunda was summoned to the court and was ordered to vacate my property but again he didn’t comply,” said Zimunya.

However, Kamunda told the court that he never agreed to pay rentals.

He said they only agreed that he would look after Zimunya’s cattle, homestead and fields.

He also denied chasing Zimunya with a machete.

He said Zimunya should openly tell him to go if he no longer wants him at his property.

He added that by making all the aforementioned allegations, Zimunya was avoiding to pay an undisclosed amount of money he owes his nephew for ploughing his fields.

“We never agreed on the said rentals. He told me that I was going to look after his homestead and do some farming chores. He was supposed to pay me for that.

“He is cooking up stories to avoid giving me my money. He is now accusing me of chasing him away from his own house. He should give me my money and I will go if he no longer wants me there,” said Kamunda.

However, Zimunya disputed all this and reiterated that no longer wants Kamunda at his property.

Jailed Buyanga’s Woes Mount

By A Correspondent- Jailed property tycoon, Frank Buyanga’s woes continue to mount after the Supreme Court declined to hear his appeal.

Buyanga, who is currently locked up in a South African jail is facing a slew of criminal charges both in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

He had approached the Supreme Court in December last year appealing against a High Court ruling reinstating his warrant of arrest.

The noting of the appeal meant the arrest warrant which was cancelled by Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga for being defective was to remain cancelled.

But the Supreme Court has declined jurisdiction to hear his appeal making an arrest warrant against him active again.

“Whereupon, after reading submissions filed of record and hearing counsel, it is ordered that the court declines jurisdiction in this matter,” reads a brief judgement by the Supreme Court bench chaired by Justice Susan Mavangira.

Buyanga was arrested in South Africa late last year after his ex-girlfriend, Chantelle Muteswa reported him over a slew of charges, including kidnapping their eight-year -old son.

The warrant issued against him was initially cancelled by Magistrate Taruvinga who found it was erroneously issued.

The National Prosecuting Authority appealed against the Magistrate’s ruling at the High Court.

However, the High Court set aside the magistrate’s ruling blocking Buyanga’s freedom.

Despite that Buyanga had sought the recusal of the presiding judges of appeal, Pisirayi Kwenda and Benjamin Chikowero from hearing an application for review by the State, which was unhappy with the magistrate’s ruling.

He had appealed at the Supreme Court after Kwenda refused to step down from hearing the case.

The Supreme Court then granted the hearing of Buyanga’s appeal but Kwenda went on to reinstate the warrant of arrest well aware that the Supreme Court had allowed the appeal against him to be heard.

This prompted the latest Supreme Court appeal which has been declined.

In the appeal, the businessman, through his lawyers, Rubaya and Chatambudza Legal Practitioners said Kwenda erred in failing to entertain the State’s appeal that was before him while alleging he made a ruling based on what he had read in the newspapers.

“Take notice that the appellant hereby appeals against the whole judgement of the High Court of Zimbabwe handed down at Harare by Kwenda J on the 30th of November 2022 with whom Chikowero concurred…. Further take notice that leave to appeal against the judgment is unnecessarily as the judgement being appealed against was final,” reads part of his court application.

His grounds of appeal were that “the court aquo erred at law and grossly misdirected itself by holding that the learned magistrate Ms Taruvinga had no jurisdiction to cancel a warrant that she issued in terms of section 33 (1) of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act when such power was expressly given to her in section 33 (3).

“The lower court erred in finding that magistrate Taruvinga had misconstrued the application before her to be a default enquiry by virtue of a heading of transcript of proceedings when the application before the magistrate and her judgement clearly showed that she was fully alive to the fact that what was before her was an application for cancellation of a warrant of arrest.”

Buyanga said the judge erred in finding that magistrate Taruvinga had no jurisdiction to cancel a warrant she issued.

The flamboyant businessman remains locked in  South Africa, where all his efforts to secure bail have flopped.

Last week a police officer was arrested by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Unit as he tried to book out Buyanga from prison.

ZEC, Zanu PF Voter Registration “Marriage” Exposed

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has been accused of colluding with Zanu-PF to conduct private voter registration campaigns targeting ruling party supporters only.

Zanu-PF says it is targeting five million votes to ensure an outright win in the upcoming elections where President Emmerson Mnangagwa is seeking re-election.

This publication established that the ruling party has been commandeering Zec to settlements where it is targetting potential new voters for private registration.

Zanu-PF has also been assisting so called stateless citizens, mainly of Mozambican and Malawian origin, to obtain Zimbabwean identity documents in order for them to be eligible to vote.

An estimated 300 000 people in Zimbabwe are considered stateless.

The group comprises descendants of migrant workers from southern African countries, including Malawi and Mozambique who were brought in by colonial authorities to work on farms before the country gained independence in 1980.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa confirmed to The Standard in an interview that the ruling party “coaxed” Zec and the Registrar General’s office to conduct private registration processes in various areas.

Mutsvangwa also admitted that the party has been facilitating registration of stateless citizens to obtain citizenship to register as voters.

“Through our cell verification programmes, we realised there were some pockets of areas where people were not registered,” he said.

“We then signalled or alerted Zec and the Registrar General’s office that these areas are not registered.

“We facilitate and enable those who identify with our party to go and get registered. It’s a way of getting their loyalty to our party.

“We hope they will pay their allegiance to the party.

“Where possible we coax or cajole the government to go and provide the facilities, which they should do anyway.”

Zec closed the registration blitz on March 26, and announced that voter registration would only happen at its 68 district registration centres and 10 provincial registration centres across the country.

On Wednesday in Mhondoro, however, Zanu-PF summoned Zec and the Registrar General’s office to register people, who were gathered for the official opening of a hospital.

“What we do is we point out where we know there are a few registered people, like what we did on Thursday in Mhondoro, Mubaira we were having the opening of a hospital by Zimplats, we called Zec and the Registrar General’s office to be present so that those who came and attended and did not have IDs got registered by Zec,” Mutsvangwa added.

“There is no bias there, if the MDC want, they can also go and ask Zec to have their people registered.”

The opposition has previously accused Zec of deliberately frustrating the registration of aspiring voters in cities and towns.

According to the opposition, voter registration in cities and towns is deliberately slow with officials at the electoral body accused of chasing away voter registrants.

Asked why Zec was setting up registration centres at Zanu-PF’s command, Zec deputy chairperson Rodney Kiwa said the matter was political.

“Why do you ask me about politics?” Kiwa asked.

“That is politics. You are a very young kid and you want to teach me politics. I will not fall for that.

“I will not respond to that. I do not talk politics (sic).

“Never! Zanu-PF is a party that can respond on its own. I am not its spokesperson.”

Kiwa said the voter registration process is still ongoing at all the 68 registration centres and the 10 provincial centres across the country.

“The registration blitz was facilitated for all eligible voters to register,” Kiwa said.

“It was in response to political parties, that had their supporters who wanted to register to vote.”

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere accused Zanu-PF of abusing state institutions, especially Zec.

“Their desperation is causing them to resort to illegal, embarrassing and brazen electoral malpractices,” Mahere said.

“The attempt by Zanu-PF to ensure that the vote is suppressed in areas where they know they’re weak while encouraging the vote to be facilitated where it perceives itself to be strong demonstrates beyond any doubt that they have lost popular support.

“They are bent on rigging because the data says that CCC and president (Nelson) Chamisa will win.”

Zimbabwe Election Advocacy Trust executive director Ignatius Sadziwa said Zec must be investigated.

“Voter mobilisation for registration by political parties is permissible at law and we applaud political parties for such efforts. However, it is criminal for Zec to enter into special arrangements with certain political formations to do a voter registration blitz outside stipulated dates for such exercises,” Sadziwa said.

“The matter needs to be investigated because it is a serious breach of the Electoral Act. Zec has to operate within the confines of the law.”

Mnangagwa said he would proclaim election dates at the end of next month.

Zim Dollar Value Falls

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe dollar (ZWL), the local currency of Zimbabwe, has kept losing ground against the U.S. dollar.

After hovering just below 1,000 to the U.S. dollar on the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) foreign auction platform for several weeks, the Zimbabwe dollar finally succumbed to pressure and fell to 1,000.0227 Tuesday.

This means that a person with 1,000 U.S. dollars can easily translate it to 1 million ZWL, or even more on the parallel market which was on Friday trading at 1 U.S. dollar to 1,600 ZWL for those who were selling the U.S. dollar. Those who were buying had to part with at least 1,800 ZWL per U.S. dollar.

The new millionaire club does not have much to show for it though, with the depreciation of the local currency also leading to increases in the prices of basic commodities, as traders chase the parallel market rate.

While some retailers have been modest with the increases, pharmacies, hardware shops and informal traders have been unrelenting.

An analysis of the country’s operating environment posted by Stanbic Bank Friday showed that Zimbabwe’s food inflation remained the highest in the world in April.

Notwithstanding the decline in world food prices and according to the World Bank, Zimbabwe’s food inflation remains the highest in the world. High food inflation is mainly attributed to the rapid currency depreciation (high parallel market premium) and some supply bottlenecks,” the analysis said, claiming that Zimbabwe remained uncompetitive from a price stability viewpoint.

Inflation is high in the outlook driven by rapid exchange rate depreciation, high monetary growth and risk of potential fiscal slippages,” the analysis said.

Independent economist Paul Musodza warned that the continued dollarization of the economy was not good for the country in the long term.

He said the official exchange rate was being directed by the parallel market which had crossed the 1,000 mark way back.

“It is the real exchange rate. We are highly dollarized because output is now largely U.S. dollar priced. Dollarization will retard our economic growth rate,” he said in an interview with Xinhua.

The Monetary Policy Committee of the RBZ, the central bank, said at the end of March that there was a 70:30 currency mix of foreign and local currency, respectively, in the economy.

The government and the central bank have over the years been trying to make the local currency more attractive to the transacting public by introducing a raft of measures.

However, the specter of 2008 when the official inflation rate hit 231 million percent, the national budget’s figures were given in quintillions of dollars and the highest banknote denomination was 100 trillion Zimbabwe dollars continues to haunt many people.

At present, the highest banknote denomination is 100 Zimbabwe dollars — which is equivalent to about 10 U.S. cents at the prevailing official exchange rate. The smaller denominations of 2, 5 and 10 ZWL notes are no longer used by the public, even though they are officially still in circulation together with 20 and 50 ZWL denominations.-Xinhua

ZACC Probe For Extra Lessons

By A Correspondent- The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has engaged the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to help fight the practice of charging fees for extra lessons by teachers.

In an interview with the Sunday News, the Ministry’s Director of Communication and Advocacy Taungana Ndoro said teachers who charge fees for extra lessons will be arrested for corruption. He said:

With regard to extra lessons, the Ministry’s position remains clear. Paid extra lessons, particularly during the school term remain illegal and parents and guardians are advised not to continue feeding the beast by continuously paying for these extra lessons as they exacerbate the situation that we are currently facing.

This practise of paying for extra lessons is a chargeable offence and an act of misconduct.

It is criminal abuse of office and corruption basically which is why we are working together with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission to curb this scourge.

Ndoro said the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is working with other law enforcement agencies to ensure that teachers charging for extra lessons are penalised. He said:

We are also working with the Zimbabwe Republic Police and other authorities to try and combat this.

Parents and teachers should both be held liable under the law for aiding and abetting this form of corruption.

The Ministry has put in place platforms on social media where people can report such practise so that action is immediately taken in conjunction with the relevant authorities.

Parents can send reports to our WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter or even to our websites. You can even call our toll-free line, directly to our offices so that we can together tackle this scourge and ensure that all our learners continue to receive quality education and no one, and no place is left behind.
He said parents who pay teachers for extra lessons are also at risk of facing corruption charges.

Said Ndoro:

The idea of feeding the beast means that parents are complicit in aiding teachers that are demanding illicit payments for extra lessons and in most cases, these teachers end up not doing the job for which they are already paid for, for which they are already on a government salary, for which they are already on a responsible authority’s salary.

Therefore, these paid-for extra lessons remain illegal and banned.

On 30 March, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education announced a ban on holiday lessons, saying learners needed time to rest.

The Ministry also argued that the 2023 school calendar was never interrupted by COVID-19 hence there was no need for schools and teachers to conduct extra lessons during this April holiday.

However, teachers across the country have defied the ban saying making learners pay for extra lessons is a way of supplementing their salaries.

Some high school boarding teachers are reportedly renting buildings in the central business district as well as churches to conduct extra lessons and charging US$10 per subject.

Dead Man Demands S_ex From The Grave

By A Correspondent- Female members of a Chimanimani family have for the past few years been deterred from being int!mate with their husbands by an avenging spirit that claims to have been ƨǝx-starved while still alive.

The development has left most of the Mahlupeko sisters in broken marriages.

The family appeared before Chief Ndima’s court on Sunday where it was revealed that the privɑtǝ parts of the Mahlupeko sisters and their daughters mysteriously get blocked each time they try to get int!mate with their husbands.

The traditional court heard that the late Dakarai Mahoso’s avenging spirit is behind this.

The late Mahoso’s avenging spirit is claiming that his wife, Gogo Nyeperai Mahlupeko (now 87), denied him his c0njugal rights when he was still alive and that he died a bitter ƨǝx-starved man.

In narrating the ordeal, John Mahlupeko said his married daughters and granddaughters have for the past few years been struggling with the issue of int!macy as a result of the avenging spirit.

“All this while, we did not know that my sister’s late husband was behind this. While some family members thought that it was a medical condition, others knew that it was spiritual. The ones that are not married yet are struggling to find husbands while the married ones are struggling with the issue of int!macy.

“As if that is not enough, the men in the family are struggling financially. We are failing to prosper.

“When we consulted prophets and traditional healers over the issue and heard that Mahoso’s spirit is haunting us, we thought that maybe my sister Tete Nyeperai killed her husband. We were then sh0cked to hear that he was haunting us because he was starved of ƨǝx while still alive,” said the Mahlupeko’s family patriarch.

In an interview, Gogo Nyeperai admitted that she starved her husband in the bedr00m. However, she said it was because they were both elderly, adding that she was no longer strong enough to take care of his ƨǝxuɑl needs.

“I had twelve children with this man and I ended up failing to meet his ƨǝxuɑl needs when we were in our old age. I was in my late 60s while he was in his 70s. I did not think it was still proper for us to engage in ƨǝxuɑl interc0urse.

“I was a l0ving wife and I am sh0cked that my late husband would torment my family this way. In fact, I believe this is all a lie. I think my family just wants to put the blame on me. When we consulted a traditional healer, it was said the spirit’s names are Bernard and Phineas; my husband’s name was Dakarai,” she said.

Gogo Nyeperai said while the spirit manifested on her niece, the spirit claimed to be her late husband, despite giving them the wrong name.

“The spirit said my husband was not resting peacefully due to his bitterness over the fact that I starved him ƨǝxuɑlly when he was still alive. It also revealed the reason being my nieces and grand-nieces’ mar!tal problems. The spirit demanded that I should appease it by brewing traditional beer and washing myself with it,” she said.

As a result, her late husband’s family has sent Gogo Nyeperai packing.

They have ordered her to brew some traditional beer and cleanse herself as per the spirit’s demands.

Gogo Nyeperai is currently staying with her brother, Mahlupeko, whose family is fuming at her for causing their mar!tal mishaps.

“I want to go back to my home. My relatives are angry with me because of this spirit and staying with them is not good for me. Meanwhile, the Mahoso family refuses to accept me at my home. They say I have to appease my late husband’s spirit first before going back. There is chaos everywhere,” said the elderly woman.

Chief Ndima ordered the Mahlupeko family to visit one more traditional healer to ascertain the real cause behind the family’s problems since Gogo Nyeperai insists that her late husband is not the cause.

Civil Servants Reject Gvt Salary Increment

By A Correspondent- Civil servants have rejected the Government’s 100% salary increment offer, accusing their employer of unilateralism.

Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU) president CecIlia Alexander on Friday said no agreement was signed when Government representatives and civil servants met under the National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC).

She also accused the Public Service Commission (PSC) of insincerity. Said Alexander:

ZCPSTU refused to sign the NJNC agreement because the PSC pre-empted through a circular written by the secretary who ordinarily should not have according to Statutory Instruments (SI) 141 of 1997.

She also claimed that State employees (uniformed forces) got their increment in February while others only received an increment in April. a local publication quoted Alexander as saying::

The effective date where other sectors got a salary increase two months earlier and other civil servants have no inflation-adjusted salary components.

Early this month, the Government approved a 100% remuneration review for civil servants except for the health sector.

The adjustment included an increase of the COVID-19 allowance from US$200 to US$250 per month across all sectors, excluding the health sector.

Teachers were awarded an US$80 teaching allowance payable at the prevailing inter-bank rate with effect from April 1, 2023. The school fees payment facility for children of teachers was scrapped.

Harare Man Tries To Confront ED At Epworth Rally

Private Voter Registration? ZEC, Zanu Pf Shenanigans Exposed

Ceiling Hiding Thief Busted

By A Correspondent- Business came to a standstill in the Central Business District of Bulawayo yesterday as the public gathered to witness an early morning drama after a suspected thief was busted inside the ceiling of an accessories shop located along 10th Avenue.

When a Sunday News crew arrived at the scene shortly before 8 30am, the suspect had just been busted by the shop occupants and were awaiting the police. The suspect was frequently peeping and coughing through a hole which he is suspected to have mistakenly created while walking inside the ceiling.

Shortly after 9am, detectives from CID as well as the duty uniformed branch arrived at the scene and persuaded the suspect to come out of the ceiling.

The suspect remained quiet and chose to be a prisoner of his own scheme prompting the detectives to call the Canine Unit. As the canine unit prepared to get into the ceiling the suspect came out through an entry and exit point on the roof. Clad in a grey short and t-shirt as well as a cap, he was immediately arrested in front of a crowd which was baying for his blood.

Sources close to the investigations said the suspect identified himself as Khumbulani aged 18 from Nkulumane 11. According to a witness who spoke on condition of anonymity, they witnessed that the ceiling had been broken down before realising that there was someone inside the ceiling.

When we opened the shop, we realised that the ceiling was damaged. We checked on our various accessories which we sell and observed that nothing was stolen. After a few minutes, one of our female colleagues noticed that there was someone peeping through the ceiling. We immediately reported the issue to the police,” said the witness.

Mnangagwa Shields Anxious Masuka From Elections

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says he has exempted Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister, Anxious Masuka from constituency politics so that he solely focuses on reviving the country’s agriculture sector.

In March, Masuka, and Permanent Secretary in the Lands Ministry John Basera came out as the biggest winners in the 2022 performance evaluation results for Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials.

The two were named best performers in their respective designations.

Writing in his weekly column for The Sunday Mail and Sunday News, Mnangagwa said Masuka will be a non-constituency legislator. He wrote:

I have released Minister Anxious Masuka from the distractions of constituency politics so his sole focus and sole politics relate to this one goal of transforming our agriculture for a food-secure Nation for all times.

He will be a non-constituency Member of Parliament, so he has enough time to live, think and dream of agriculture only.

In 2022, Zimbabwe achieved a record wheat harvest as farmers delivered over 375 000 tonnes to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB).
Before last year’s output, the highest-ever wheat output since commercial production began in the 1960s was 325 000 tonnes realised in 1990.

Meanwhile, several Cabinet ministers and deputies, among them Sekai Nzenza and Ziyambi Ziyambi, were defeated in ZANU PF primary elections that were held on 25 March 2023.

Tinashe Sambiri|In what many have described as pure travesty of justice, CCC deputy chairperson Hon Job Sikhala’s trial has been delayed because the presiding magistrate is on maternity leave.

Hon Sikhala’s trial has been postponed to May 4, 2023.

In a statement, Transform Zimbabwe leader, Jacob Ngarivhume called for the immediate release of Hon Sikhala.

See the statement below:

Job Sikhala, your trial magistrate is on maternity leave so you wait for her!

I was at court to cancel my warrant of arrest issued two days ago. This is after I failed to attend court because I had a breakdown on my way from a funeral.

I then attended the Job Sikhala matter which was remanded to May 4 at 11.15AM. I had earlier on gone to visit Job downstairs. I enjoyed seeing the fighting spirit still full in the him. It looks as if there is nothing they can do to break him.

When he appeared before the magistrate of the day, what got to me was that he was asked by the prosecutor whether he was informed when the trial magistrate would be available to continue with trial.

His response was I don’t know she is on maternity leave so I have no idea when she will be back.

The matter was then remanded to 5 May to see if she will be back then.

What this means is that Sikhala remains in custody until the magistrate gives birth, recovers and comes back to deal with the matter. I mean this is gross miscarriage of justice! It’s disgusting.

Meanwhile millions worth of gold has been stolen, none of the culprits has appeared in court. The court is seized with persecution of political prisoners! What a shame.

I met a police officer who told me that countless armed robbers were granted bail in the last week. Some of them had murder cases committed during the armed robberies. They were granted bail and the police are busy trying to track them for they are on the run already.

Sikhala is a distinguished citizen, eminent lawyer, honourable member of parliament but they can’t grant him bail! What a joke!

As I was leaving court I was meditating deeply on what we need to do to deal with this regime. They have no shame.

My conclusion is we need to step up our fight. Or else they completely run the nation down.

CCC Youth Leader Calls For Protests Against Mnangagwa Regime

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC Youth Taskforce spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma has challenged young people to protest at rampant looting of gold by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

In a hard-hitting statement, Sarkozy accused Mr Mnangagwa of reversing the gains of the liberation struggle.

Mnangagwa Reversing Gains Of Independence

18/04/2023

As the country mark 43 years after independence, we take a look at how successive ZANU PF governments have left a trail destruction on the country’s economy, politics and social fabric.

From Robert Mugabe to Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe has gone from bad to worse.

The current ZANU PF leader has inflicted unimaginable pain to citizens of our motherland. Everywhere you look it is Economic Disaster.

Since announcing his fascist government through the gun on 01 August 2018, Mnangagwa has gone on to create a totalitarian state run by mafias.

It is sad that 43 years after independence we have a dictator who has become a conduit for foreigners to siphon our mineral wealth.

43 years after independence we have local people being evicted from their ancestral lands to pave way for Mnangagwa’s Belarus and Chinese friends.

Mnangagwa is giving back land to whites!

43 years after independence we a government that subvert the will of the people through manipulation of ZEC and electoral fraud.
Isn’t that the liberation war was about one man one vote?

The country cries for a people centred government that will complete the liberation agenda. CCC President Advocate Nelson Chamisa has consistently spoken about completing the liberation agenda where citizens’ fundamental human rights are respected.

Our Independence Day message to Mnangagwa is that he must resign or face popular mass protests because of his role in gold smuggling scandal.

Mavaza: Documentaries Have An Effect On People | VIDEO, DEBATE

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | OPINION | Documentaries have the power to educate destroy or to build.
VIDEO LOADING BELOW…

The one who makes a documentary is largely persuaded by a zeal to bring out an end game of his desire. Most documentaries have a desired effect of the producer not in any way helping the affected nations.

Documentaries are are supposed to be an in-depth and informative resource which are a perfect platform to create dialogue. They should serve as powerful tools that bring important topics to the table in a captivating way that also sparks conversation, and sometimes even social movements.

It travesty of reason to have documentary which
Is one sided hell bent to cause dissent in a nation and bringing out the desired effects of the producer regardless of what will happen to some individuals. That reduces nations and its people to be collateral damage.

In today’s “post-truth” world, educating ourselves about important issues and finding varied and reliable information sources is as critical as ever. Recent events across the globe coupled with how we obtain, share, and replicate news of these events demands we step up and seek out quality sources of information about our world and what is happening in it. We expect big stations to get properly qualified researchers and not pocket journalists.

Character-driven, feature-length documentaries focused on the stories of real people put a human face on global issues that might otherwise seem distant or unrelatable. Hearing and seeing these real experiences through the dedicated work of documentary filmmakers helps us put ourselves in the shoes of others, building bridges of empathy in a world that desperately needs our engagement and compassion. Not only do documentaries provide an opportunity to understand and connect with the world, they are also a great way to gather together with friends to watch and engage around the important issues of our times. Watching more documentaries is important, but talking about them together in person is equally important. The Aljazeera documentary infamously called Gold Mafia missed out on face-to-face conversations, yet these conversations are needed. They remind us of the real people on the opposite side of an issue, the complexity and nuances of the different conditions in which we live, and the importance of honest and earnest discussions. Always another side has to be heard in every documentary.

Some documentaries by untainted journalists do shout out for the down trodden. Twelve documentaries from the campaigning journalist John Pilger, exposing the West’s continued exploitation of the Third World, and criticising the military interventions of western governments, from Cambodia to Iraq. The documentaries included are: ‘Year Zero – The Silent Death of Cambodia’; ‘Nicaragua – A Nation’s Right to Survive’; ‘Burp! Pepsi vs Coke in the Ice Cold War’; ‘Flying the Flag – Arming the World’; ‘Vietnam – The Quiet Mutiny’; Death of a Nation – The Timor Conspiracy’; ‘Inside Burma – Land of Fear’; ‘Welcome to Australia’; ‘Paying the Price: Killing the Children of Iraq’; ‘Palestine is Still the Issue’; ‘Breaking the Silence: Truth and Lies in the War on Terror’; and ‘Stealing a Nation’. Also included is interview footage with Pilger from the 2006 Guardian Hay Literary Festival.

These documentaries stood out in helping Africa and Africans and a number of third world countries. Documentaries must provide a chance to learn about, engage with, and take action on issues with others, that also allows you to pool your resources, knowledge, and energy toward making the world a better place. They are not meant to victimise weaker nations and sensationalise the masses into self hate or captivating them into disliking their own country. This type of documentary is devilish satanic and demonic. The documentary must Connect to the global community through documentaries, and remember that now is the time to engage in making a difference in our collective future not the time change governments without any reason but lies.
Documentaries must inspire, inform and engage. It must carry stories which provoke empathy, change minds, influence behaviour, bring communities together and catalyse behavioural and systemic change. Documentaries must be used as a tool for broad reaching social change.
This was never the aim of the Aljazeera when the flighted their documentary on Gold Mafia.

Documentaries must record, reveal, or preserve. it must persuade or promote and analyse or interrogate. It should allow both parties to express.
Documentary filmmaking is a non-fiction style of filmmaking that seeks to document some aspect of reality. This can be done for education, preservation, and entertainment purposes. Documentaries are non-fiction movies that strive towards the betterment the world. Its purpose is to make you aware and actively participate in a society that can make shape the future of this world. A documentary is a short or a long video whose main objective is to give the viewer a realistic as well as an accurate picture of aspects of life or highlight works of technical nature. It must not carry the belief of the producer or lean on the side of bias.

Documentaries also expose evil doing in society. When makers of the documentary join hands to highlight the plight of people in the community within no time, the information is viewed by the greater audience. It may cause a mixed reaction or even uproar on the social media platform in this day and age.

The concerned authorities or even governments can then swiftly move in conduct investigations and have the situation arrested. Some form of evil in the community can only be highlighted and brought to the limelight better using documentaries than in another way. Documentaries have helped to bring a myriad of nuisances into the light and in turn, appropriate actions being taken.

But the documentary published by Aljazeera on Zimbabwean Gold Mafia was sensational inciting and meant to bolster one party against the other in the coming elections. Aljazeera was supposed to have an expository documentary.

Expository documentaries are the closest to what people think is a documentary film. These have a sharp contrast to fictional storytelling. Their main objective is to inform or persuade people. They can achieve this by the fact that they are omnipresent. They have their narration over the footage, which is without ambiguous or poetic rhetoric. They do not defame people. It must be noted that we do have real living people mentioned in a documentary and if a documentary is everything else but the truth then things do fall apart. More and more often these days, it seems, cases are tried in the court of public opinion through the media and now, through social media. As a result, you have people joining a cause just because of what they see and hear about a case from these secondary sources. It can create a dangerous whirlwind of inadequately informed people arguing for “justice.”
The question is, how do any of us know what’s right? We ca just begin to see how confusing and difficult cases can be to understand when you weren’t there to experience the investigation or trial first-hand. A court’s decision can be influenced by so many factors, and the judgments are not always based only on the ideals of innocence and guilt. The cases discussed in most crime documentaries are intricate and puzzling; that’s why they make such great entertainment.
Law is not an easy thing—it’s not easy to understand, or practice, or even write about. I think that many people’s appreciation for the gravity of how determinations of guilt and innocence are arrived at may be devolving because of the proliferation and accessibility of crime documentaries. I fear that such shows will strengthen viewers’ tendencies to rush to unsupported conclusions and judgments and that society’s trust and faith in the legal system and law enforcement will continue to disintegrate. At this point, is that really what society needs?
Zimbabweans have been confused by the Aljazeera documentary. Many have taken Aljazeera confusion as fact and some are taking the unsubstantiated document as a fact. There are people who have one wish regardless. That wish is to find the first family guilty and use that to execute a regime change.
We need to understand Aljazeera before we take them serious. When Al Jazeera launched from the Qatari capital, Doha, on Friday, November 1, 1996, it was the first independent news channel in the Arab world. Media in the Arab world, till then, was characterised by state-controlled narratives that denied audiences the right to know and the right to be heard.
As a result of Al Jazeera’s programs, individuals in the Middle East have learned more about Western democracy and politics than from other previous sources. The Al Jazeera effect follows a similar pattern to the CNN effect and includes the accelerant effect, impediment effect, and agenda-setting effect. Aljazeera now plays a different tune from its sponsor in the name of editorial independence even though it looks like editorial abuse. We must not forget that Al Jazeera was founded in 1996 as part of Qatari efforts to turn economic power into political influence in the Arab world and beyond, and continues to receive political and financial backing from the government of Qatar. As a result, Al Jazeera has been criticized for being Qatari state media. Al Jazeera Media Network, endowed by the Government of Qatar, is one of the world’s largest news organizations. It provides extensive news coverage through 80 bureaus on a variety of media platforms in several languages, including Arabic and English. Al Jazeera has a large audience, but the organization (particularly its original Arabic channel) has been criticized for its alleged involvement in controversies ranging from regime change agendas, slanted journalism to anti-Hindu. The patent holding is a “private foundation for public benefit” under Qatari law.Under this organizational structure, the parent receives funding from the government of Qatar but maintains its editorial independence. In June 2017, the Saudi, Emirati, Bahraini, and Egyptian governments insisted on the closure of the entire conglomerate as one of thirteen demands made to the Government of Qatar during the Qatar diplomatic crisis. The channel has been criticised by some organisations as well as nations such as Saudi Arabia for being “Qatari propaganda and pens for hire.
It is therefore not surprising that Aljazeera produces a documentary which is half baked. It is just to deal with Dubai and please those who hate Zimbabwe.

In whatever form the enemy comes to us Zimbabwe will never be a colony again and will never be confused by a confused documentary.

Mapeza Wary Of FC Platinum Defensive Record

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has reiterated the need for his side to defend better, saying their defensive record is a cause for concern.

The defending champions have kept only one clean sheet in their first five Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches —a 1-0 victory over Cranborne Bullets.

FC Platinum have also conceded first in four of the five matches they have played so far.

Last week against CAPS United, substitute Perfect Chikwende’s late equalizer restored parity for the platimum miners, after William Manondo had fired the Green Machine ahead in the first half.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s visit of Triangle United at Mandava Stadium, the serial tittle-winning coach highlighted the need for his charges to defend better.

“It not about the character,” Mapeza said when asked if his team coming from behind is a sign of good character.

“I will give you an example. If you have got a tendency of getting knocked down first, then you get up and win, I’m sure in one of those bouts, you will get a hard punch and you won’t even recover.

“I spoke about it after the CAPS United game, I’m really worried about it. It’s a situation whereby me as a coach, it worries me.

“It makes me worry because we have been conceding. If you look at our last five games, we have been conceding in each and every game and it’s something we are trying to address.

Added Mapeza: “It’s something which we are trying to address as well during our training sessions but in any football game, it will be difficult, sometimes you recover, sometimes you don’t.”

The former Warriors captain insists conceding first might result in eventually losing the game due to the failure to recover and that is an area he is demanding some kind of improvement from his troops.

“If you fail to recover, you will end up losing the game. It happened against Highlanders, we couldn’t recover so it’s something which we gave been talking to the boys about and it’s a habit which needs to change,” said Mapeza.- Soccer24 News

Ngarivhume Calls For Immediate Release Of Job Sikhala

Cervical Cancer: Primary Prevention Crucial

Key facts

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally, with an estimated 604 000 new cases and 342 000 deaths in 2020.

About 90% of the new cases and deaths worldwide in 2020 occurred in low- and middle-income countries (1).

Two human papillomavirus (HPV) types (16 and 18) are responsible for nearly 50% of high grade cervical pre-cancers
HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity. More than 90% of them clear the infection eventually.

Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.

Vaccination against HPV and screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions is a cost-effective way to prevent cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly.

Comprehensive cervical cancer control includes primary prevention (vaccination against HPV), secondary prevention (screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions), tertiary prevention (diagnosis and treatment of invasive cervical cancer) and palliative care.

Overview

Worldwide, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women with an estimated 604 000 new cases in 2020. Of the estimated 342 000 deaths from cervical cancer in 2020, about 90% of these occur in low- and middle-income countries. Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV, and an estimated 5% of all cervical cancer cases are attributable to HIV (2). Moreover, in all world regions the contribution of HIV to cervical cancer falls disproportionately on younger women.

In high-income countries, programmes are in place which enable girls to be vaccinated against HPV and women to get screened regularly and treated adequately. Screening allows pre-cancerous lesions to be identified at stages when they can easily be treated.

In low-and middle-income countries, there is limited access to these preventative measures and cervical cancer is often not identified until it has further advanced and symptoms develop. In addition, access to treatment of cancerous lesions (for example, cancer surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) may be limited, resulting in a higher rate of death from cervical cancer in these countries.

The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally (age standardized rate among women: 13.3/100 000 in 2020) could be reduced by effective interventions at different stages of life.

HPV and cervical cancer
A large majority of cervical cancer (more than 95%) is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives, and some may be repeatedly infected. More than 90% of the infected populations eventually clear the infection.

Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to HPV infection.

Although most HPV infections clear up on their own and most pre-cancerous lesions resolve spontaneously, there is a risk for all women that HPV infection may become chronic and pre-cancerous lesions progress to invasive cervical cancer.

It takes 15 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop in women with normal immune systems. It can take only 5 to 10 years in women with weakened immune systems, such as those with untreated HIV infection.

Cervical cancer control: a comprehensive approach
The Global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2020, recommends a comprehensive approach to cervical cancer prevention and control. The recommended actions include interventions across the life course.

Mahoso’s Spirit Tormenting Family Members Who Can’t ‘Eat Porridge’ With Their Husbands

Female members of a Chimanimani family have for the past few years been deterred from being int!mate with their husbands by an avenging spirit that claims to have been ƨǝx-starved while still alive.

The late Mahoso’s avenging spirit is claiming that his wife, Gogo Nyeperai Mahlupeko (now 87), denied him his c0njugal rights when he was still alive and that he died a bitter ƨǝx-starved man.In narrating the ordeal, John Mahlupeko said his married daughters and granddaughters have for the past few years been struggling with the issue of int!macy as a result of the avenging spirit.

Ten Family Members Gunned Down In KZN

Ten Family Members Gunned Down In KZN

By-Ten members of the same family have been shot dead in an attack on their home in South Africa, police say.

Seven females and three males were killed when their home near the city of Pietermaritzburg was ambushed early on Friday morning.
Police Minister Bheki Cele said two suspects had been arrested, one was shot dead and another is still at large. The motive is unclear.
South Africa has one of the world’s highest murder rates.
Police were first alerted to the shooting after neighbours heard gunshots.
Mr Cele said one of the victims was as young as 13, adding: “It’s a crime scene, terrible. Too many people were lost here.”
“They have arrested two people, one was injured, one is dead, one ran away and three firearms were recovered,” he told reporters at the scene of the shooting in the township of Imbali in eastern KwaZulu-Natal province.
One child has reportedly been taken to hospital.
According to local media, the gunmen managed to gain entry to the property after posing as police officers.
Mr Cele confirmed they had located the suspects at the house of a witch doctor – a traditional healer – where they had sought refuge. Police said one of the suspects – the man who was shot dead – had been on their wanted list for a long time.
This part of South Africa is known for featuring regularly in national crime stats for murder rates – a problem that has plagued it for a long time.
It’s the second mass shooting in KwaZulu-Natal province this week after four people were shot and killed on Thursday at another home north of the port city of Durban.
In January, eight people were shot dead at a birthday party in Gqeberha city in Eastern Cape Province. It followed a string of gun attacks in bars last year, with at least 15 killed in one shooting alone. BBC

Nduna Donates 22 Cattle To Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent| Chegutu West Dexter Nduna has donated two bulls and 20 heifers to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Nduna donated the cattle to Mnangagwa during the official opening of Muduvuri Pan African Hospital and he also donated others during the commissioning of Zimbabwe Platinum Mines Limited (Zimplats) Mubaira hospital project.

He told reporters after the donation that was a way of thanking the President for developing the agriculture sector and developing the country’s economy.

Nduna has changed the face of Chegutu and is making waves in national politics.

Several motions in the National Assembly, if not more than one third of the most important ones, are attributed to Nduna.

For instance, it was him who introduced the motion for school feeding programme advocacy which has since been rolled out throughout the country.

The motion to spruce up the liberation war shrines in and outside Zimbabwe was also brought up for debate by the Chegutu West legislator.

The Special Economic Zones motion that caused the establishment of the bill and Act on the SEZs was also brought up in the National Assembly by him.

Other motions he moved include one which saw more than 3 000 artisanal miners being released on amnesty in 2016 as well as the call for the repeal of the Mines and Mineral Act, which Act is now on second reading.

The recently elected central committee member was also the brains behind the motion calling for the establishment of the exploration of the country’s resources and the quantification of minerals.

Mohadi In Election Rigging Storm

By- Former Vice President Kembo Mohadi has directed traditional leaders to gather their subjects to polling stations on voting day and ensure they vote for Zanu PF.

Speaking at the official opening of the refurbished Mhondoro Hospital in Mubaira, Mashonaland West province, Thursday, Mohadi said:
In our meetings with chiefs and headmen, they assured us (ZANU PF) of a victory.
In fact, on voting day, the headman will marshal his subjects and ensure they have all voted before he votes last.
This we will do so that we take stock and make sure that what we taught each other is followed.
During a meeting in Gokwe South District in August last year, Mohadi, who is ZANU PF’s second secretary, told chiefs, headmen, and village heads to actively support ZANU PF. Mohadi said at the time:
Please we are asking you our chiefs, headmen and village heads to develop your organisation (ZANU PF). ZANU PF is your party, did you know that?
Know from today that ZANU PF is your party. We want to fight this war against the West-fronted opposition.
ZANU PF liberated this country. Did you know that this party is yours? We want you to increase the number of people to vote for ZANU PF.
Did you hear we want five million votes next year? We want them to vote for ZANU PF and through you, we know we will achieve that.
We want every village head to give us people we will check according to your register … If we are organised, we will rule until the donkeys have horns.
Since Zimbabwe’s independence from colonial rule in 1980, ZANU PF has used traditional leaders as part of its campaign machinery in rural areas.
However, the Zimbabwe Constitution says traditional leaders should be apolitical. Chapter 15:2 of the Constitution states that:
traditional leaders must not be members of any political party or in any way participate in partisan politics, act in a partisan manner, further the interests of any political party or cause or violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of any person.

Zanu PF Endorses Chipinge Drug Dealer

By-Zanu PF has reinstated Robert Nyemudzo as the party candidate in Chipinge South constituency for the upcoming general elections.

Nyemudzo was declared the winner of a 25 March ZANU PF primary election but was disqualified after being accused of brewing illicit beer, which was sold at Checheche Growth Point.

After Nyemudzo’s disqualification, the party installed businessman Enock Porusingazi, who is the sitting legislator, despite coming second in the primaries.

When Nyemudzo was disqualified, ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said he (Nyemudzo) owned a factory brewing “Mutoriro”, a harmful illicit brew. Mutsvangwa said:

In Chipinge South, there was Robert Nyemudzo who was disqualified.

The reason is that he allegedly owns a factory at his home and it is one of the biggest brewers of Tumbwa and Mutoriro.

I saw some frightening pictures of small bottles in their millions which are used to bottle this dangerous stuff.

Nyemudzo later appeared before a magistrate charged with contravening the Harmful Liquids Act (Chapter 9:10) and was remanded to 24 April.

But in an unexpected twist of events, Nyemudzo has since been cleared of any wrongdoing by the party.

On Friday, he told State media that he was now the ZANU PF candidate in Chipinge South. Said Nyemudzo:

I am very happy. Cde Porusingazi has pledged to work with me, and it is now a given, the party and the President will win resoundingly in Chipinge South because we are one.

The party conducted its own investigations which cleared my name against those allegations, but protocol does not allow me to comment on that.

Only the party’s provincial leadership can comment on those issues.

On Wednesday, ZANU PF national political commissar Mike Bimha announced the party has concluded its final list of candidates for elections.

Mnangagwa Plans Handing Over To Own Sons | SPOTLIGHT

Mnangagwa 1, Mnangagwa 2, and Mnangagwa 3………………as Mnangagwa plots handing over to sons.

Mnangagwa Junior,  Dad and Mother

By Itai Mushekwe | BERLIN- President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reportedly plotting to have his first son with First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, Emmerson junior, succeed him as leader of the country in 2028, Zimeye, can exclusively reveal today.
The explosive disclosures have inadvertently been confirmed by a family member and one of the president’s many children, all believed to number more than 18, from Mnangagwa’s other marriages.

Some of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sons, one after the other

So serious is the ghoulish and henious political disaster in the making, which will all but turn the Republic into a family monarchy, that Mnangagwa has also secretly lined up his twin sons with Auxillia, one who’s into business and the other a fast-tracked middle ranking military officer, to be Emmerson junior’s successive successors.

Mnangagwa’s dynastic succession mind, it would appear has also been inspired by Equatorial Guinea leader, Teodore Nguema Mbasogo, who has already installed his son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, as vicepresident, in pole position to succeed him, high level government functionaries close to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) have said.
Mnangagwa and Nguema Mbasogo, have grown into becoming close
allies in recent times, with the latter having gifted the former with a fully furnished luxurious presidential villa this February, in that country’s capital Malabo.
OPC officials who travelled with Mnangagwa to Malabo early this year, as part of his delegation claim to have overheard a Nguema Mbasogo conversation, where he asked Mnangagwa: “Why are you wasting time, my son is now number two, and you have many boys?”.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo Joseph Kabila ruled for 17 years after succeeding his assassinated father Laurent-Désiré as head of state in 2001.

Mnangagwa also has twin sons with the first lady, Sean and Collins Mnangagwa. Sean is a captain in the Presidential Guard, while Collins is into business dealing, controversially joining his father on several state trade and investment trips to China, Dubai and Eurasia although not employed by the government.
Furthermore, it has come to light, that the octogenarian leader is going to reconfigure and recalibrate the presidium, after presidential and parliamentary polls slated for August this year, to include his dismissed and discredited top ally and former vice president, Kembo Mohadi, who will bounce back as vice president, equal to current VP Constantino Chiwenga, in powers.

Mnangagwa is doing away with the designations of first and second vice president to politically stonewall himself from a relatively powerful Chiwenga, whom he allegedly intends to retire and resign to the ruling party’s headquarters as leader of the newly established Elders Council (EC).
Former defence minister, Sydney Sekeramayi, is currently heading the EC, and sits in the ruling party’s Politburo on the back of that ticket.
Information at hand shows that Mnangagwa will reappoint Chiwenga as VP soon after the upcoming plebiscite, but will eventually ease him out of office some time down the line, to pave way for defence minister, Oppah Muchinguri.
Mohadi and Muchinguri will thus become Mnangagwa’s two deputies, with Muchinguri back to represent a womens quota in the presidium, in similar fashion reminiscent of former VP Joice Mujuru’s elevation and promotion by the late President Robert Mugabe, in 2004.
Mujuru was in office for 10 years between 2004 to December 2014, then Mugabe fired her for allegedly scheming to torpedo him from power.
Prior to Mujuru’s rise, Mugabe had led the presidium with the late Joseph Msika and Simon Vengai Muzenda, who died in September 2003.
“My dad is going to be around for a long time, and the country will be run by our family for many more decades to come. He (Mnangagwa the father) has already said he’s still going to be president in 2030,” one of Mnangagwa’s daughters who works in the field of wildlife unwittingly allegedly told a donor with the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF), at a private fund raising event in Western Cape, South Africa recently.
“The president is there to stay for good, but we might see another Mnangagwa taking over in 2028, we call him ‘Emmerson 2’. Emmerson 2 can go for two full terms, before handing over to the twins. So you see we’re going nowhere anytime soon as a family insofar as the reigns of power in Zimbabwe are concerned.”
Government insiders and Mnangagwa faction members have also intimated, that the president would like to go for an unprecedented third term in office if there’s no resistance inside Zanu PF, and would like to see the Constitution, which has two-five year tenure limits amended, so he could run again and “possibly hand power to Emmerson junior before 2033”.
Three years ago, Mnangagwa invited the loathe of Zimbabweans, when he infamously said: “2030, ndendichipo (In 2030, I will still be President).
Zanu PF General Secretary, Obert Mpofu, has already hinted that the ruling party is prepared to tinker with the national charter, to extend embattled Mnangagwa’s tenure beyond the stipulated two five-year terms.
Mpofu first disclosed the plan at the ruling party’s youth convention in Kadoma in 2019, boasting that Zanu PF would take advantage of its twothirds majority in Parliament to effect the constitutional changes.
“Mr President, you can go beyond 2028 if you so wish because the issue of law can be taken care of in Parliament,” Mpofu said then.
Mnangagwa, who graced the event took to the podium, and declared that nothing would stop his party from making such constitutional amendments.
“We can change the laws … there is nothing that we want that cannot be done because we command two-thirds majority in Parliament,” Mnangagwa was quoted by state media.
OPC officials, and deep state operatives opposed to Mnangagwa have said his power retention machinations, are not going to go unchallenged, as VP Chiwenga and a growing coterie of senior military officers including Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander, Valerio Sibanda, have grown impatient with him for failing to resuscitate the economy and plunging the country into tormenting electricity blackouts.
“Something is brewing,” said a former national security minister who declined to be named, and is known for having busted an espionage scandal, which rocked the country before the formation of the GNU with the then MDC-T.
“Hazvishamise kana vakuru mukazonzwa zvonzi vazvipira kuoneka (Don’t be shocked to hear the president resigning or stepping down), our intelligence and military intelligence still has patriots, who are very good at their job.”
Mnangagwa’s official spokesperson, and deputy chief secretaryPresidential Communications, George Charamba’s mobile phone went unanswered, when comment was sort from his office.
Information minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, was also not reachable, with her ministry staff, promising to get back to us early this week, to no avail after admitting that a comment was highly unlikely from their boss, due to the succession politics nature involved, which only: “The President himself could clarify.”
Meanwhile Mnangagwa’s administration is currently reeling under the aftermath expose of a damning Al Jazeera documentary, showcasing how billions of dollars worth of gold, are being smuggled out of the country to Dubai, by a mafia cabal directly or indirectly linked to Mnangagwa himself and his family.
The presidency has issued Gestapo-like threats and warning to innocent journalists doing their job, for simply reporting on what appears to be one of the biggest gold pillaging scandals in the country’s history.
Mnangagwa’s panic-stricken communication team led by Charamba, is now treating the humiliating Al Jazeera documentary’s mainstream censorship and further muzzling from the citizenry as a matter of political life and death.

ED’s Message From Epworth Residents

The President is coming to Epworth tomorrow to unveil title deeds.

As Epworth Residents Development Association we had no problem with that but our concern is, he was supposed to consult us first on our priorities.

As a community we are living in abjecty poverty hardly a meal a day hustling, touting and vending to try to eke out a living.

We are hadly able to send our children to school.

Dishing (title deeds) to hungry people is rendered useless.

We think his advisors are misinforming him. What the residents needs is a developmental roadmap.

Right now Epworth has no developmental trajectory to talk about.

Social service delivery is at the bottomless pit , no sewer reticulation facilities, potable tap water , district hospital , no basic health delivery service .

The President needs to be reminded that the clinic he officially opened at Mabvazuva last year is not yet functional.

Mohadi Threatens Chiefs To Vote Zanu PF

ZANU PF Second Secretary, Kembo Mohadi has reminded chiefs to use their influence to persuade their subjects to vote for the ruling party in the upcoming elections.

Mohadi openly campaigned for ZANU PF at Chief Maduna’s installation ceremony over the weekend in Filabusi.

Chief Maduna’s installation ceremony was attended by several chiefs, headmen and traditional leaders from other areas.

The former Vice President told the incoming chief that he has to work with the current government, which he even abbreviated as G.O.D.

He said tasked Chief Maduna with ensuring that his subjects vote for ZANU PF in upcoming elections so that the ruling party wins “resoundingly”.

CITE quoted Mohadi as saying: Since you gave us the power to liberate the country, there is one thing we ask that you help us with. Please may you work with us.Work with the government and work with the ruling party because this celebration of traditional leadership is done by the ruling party.

If it was not for the ruling party, this would not have happened. We ask you to advise your many followers to work with the government of the day. I usually abbreviate it to G.O.D -Government Of the Day.

The government of the day is ZANU PF and will always remain ZANU PF.

We ask that you support us.There should be peace, go out and vote well. But my request is when voting, go and vote for the political party that liberated this country and that party is ZANU PF.

ZANU PF is the one that is enabling all the development you are seeing, so please tell your followers that they must vote for ZANU PF. We want to win resoundingly.

When I came here I asked who the headmen are, as they are the ones who lead people. They are the ones who will make people go and vote for ZANU PF.

You traditional leaders are the ones who will make people go and vote for ZANU PF.

The Constitution of Zimbabwe forbids traditional leaders from being members of any political party as this greatly compromises the discharge of their duties such as resolving disputes amongst people in their communities.

The Constitution clearly stipulates in Chapter 15 section 281 (2) that:Traditional leaders must not–(a) be members of any political party or in any way participate in partisan politics; (b) act in a partisan manner; (c) further the interests of any political party or cause; or (d) violate the fundamental rights and freedoms of any person.

Man Killed For Kicking Plate Of Sadza

ZAKA –Police in Zaka are looking for Tinashe Tarwa (27), who allegedly killed a bar patron for kicking a plate of sadza a minor was eating.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the matter to The Mirror.

He said Tarwa of Mushayavanhu Village allegedly stabbed Tawanda Mazorodze (19) of Chivasa Village under Chief Ndanga, once on the left side of the head and once on the right side of the chest.
The incident happened on Saturday around 5 pm at Mandenya Bottle Store at Muregi Business Centre.

Circumstances are that Mazorodze arrived at the bar and laughed at a boy (16) who was eating sadza in the bar.
He allegedly described him as an abnormal eater, and the boy went to eat his sadza outside the bar…

10 Family Members Killed By Invaders

South African Police say an shooting on a house resulted in the deaths of ten members of the same family.

When their home in the city of Pietermaritzburg was ambushed early on Friday morning, seven females and three males were slaughtered.

Two individuals had been detained, one had been shot to death, and the other remained at large, according to Police Minister Bheki Cele.

The motive was not clear.

BBC

Caps United Keen To Slaughter Gamecocks

THE 2015 Premier League champions Chicken Inn have a stern test this Sunday when they host log leaders, Caps United who are yet to taste defeat this season.

Harare giants Caps United have had a good start to the 2023 Premier Soccer League season, putting to bed last year’s drama-filled season for the former Cup Kings.

The Green Machine have managed three wins and two draws and are yet to taste defeat this season, a feat which makes their duel with the former 2015 champions, Chicken Inn an interesting one.

“It’s not an easy game especially away from home against a very good side but we take confidence from the way we have been playing and if we manage to replicate that am sure we can come away with a positive result,” noted Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe.

While the two sides are separated by four points, the Chicken Inn camp is alive to the fact that they need to dig deep if they entertain any hopes of inflicting the first defeat on Makepekepe.

“So far so good and Caps are a good side. They started well this season. What is important is for us to focus on the game,” said Chicken Inn Head Coach Prince Matore.

“A win over Caps United will be a morale booster. We had set a target of winning all our games but look the league is competitive and every team is playing to win.”

Chicken Inn, who have only managed one win and have drawn four times in five matches this season, will be without the services of midfielder, Tafadzwa Kutinyu through injury while their opponents have a clean bill of health.- ZBC News

2000 Families Evicted

Crest Breeders International has begun issuing eviction orders to 2 000 families living on the Harare South Saturday Retreat Farm, widely known as Ushehwekunze, despite the Adminsitration Court ruling last year that the farm is now State land, with the company agreeing to the transfer.
Even as far back as 2015, Crest Breeders agreed in a deed of settlement with the then Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement to transfer the 1 057ha farm.

But now there are eviction orders being issued which state: “The defendant is in illegal occupation of stand number 60**, Saturday Retreat Estate, Harare. He has not paid the purchase price of US$4 per square metre, but he has unlawfully proceeded to erect illegal structures together with those claiming occupation through him within the plaintiff’s immovable property, thereby disturbing the plaintiff’s undisturbed peaceful possession.”

Last year, the Administrative Court confirmed the Government’s acquisition of Harare South Saturday Retreat Farm following a protracted stand-off that delayed development of the area and gave free reign to land barons who moved in and started selling plots without authority from the Government.

Justice Herbert Mandeya, in a disposition handed over on July 29, endorsed that the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement was the owner of the farm instead of Crest Breeders International after Crest agreed to the transfer to the Government.

This confirmed the deed of settlement signed between the applicant, Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement and respondent Crest Breeders International in 2015.

“The compulsory acquisition of the immovable property being the remaining extent of Saturday Retreat Estate situated in the district of Salisbury measuring 1 057,381 hectares held under deed of transfer 4035/1986 by the respondent (Crest Breeders) be confirmed,” reads part of the deed of settlement.

“The Government of Zimbabwe shall sign all such documents, pass all such instruments, give all such instructions and do all things necessary to give effect to this deed and the court order sought.”

Churu Constituency aspiring legislator Cde Ephraim Fundukwa yesterday said Crest Breeders could not evict people from land owned by the State.

“The papers are very clear that the land belongs to the Government, but for some rogue reasons there are people who are pushing for the eviction of residents,” he said.

“The area has people who were lawfully given offer letters so they have a right to stay. The Government must quickly intervene. Land barons have been a menace in the area, but we say no to land barons.”

Saturday Retreat Consortium leadership composed of members from the 16 cooperatives, including Ushewekunze, Chevhu, Highfield Canaan and Tasimuka, hoped the acquisition will lead to speed implementation of development in the area.-state media

“Mnangagwa Is A Hypocrite”

Businessman’s Ex-Wife Acquitted Of Fraud Charges

Prominent businessman and corporate executive Shongwe Michael Ndoro’s ex-wife, Precious Star has been acquitted of fraud and money laundering charges.

Precious, a former director of Inter fruit (Pvt) Limited, was being accused of stealing US$2,5 million from the company she jointly owned with her ex-husband.

“From the foregoing, the State didn’t prove essential elements for both counts. It is also clear that he (ex-husband) was aware of withdrawal since 2014. He did nothing about it. The charges were reported after he was sued for divorce,” Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere said in his ruling.

“Why did he wait for about five years to report to the police? No doubt that the matrimonial problems between the accused are the cradle of this charge.

“Accordingly, the accused person is hereby discharged at the close of the case. Resultantly, I hereby find the accused person not guilty.”

Precious and Michael divorced in 2019, but the High Court had reserved the issue of equitable division of marital assets due to pending cases.

The ex-husband is also being accused of fraudulently removing her from the directorship of Zororo Energy, a company they formed together in 2018.

Chief Charumbira Threatens Sexual Abuse Victim

CHIEFS Council president Fortune Charumbira, who has been reported for allegedly sexually abusing his married niece on two occasions, has threatened to sue the victim for defamation, claiming the charges were baseless.

Charumbira, is who is also president of Pan-African Parliament (PAP), isy accusing the victim of conniving with opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party members to fabricate charges against him after he failed to convince the victim’s family to withdraw the charges, NewsDay has established.

The victim, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, reported the matter at Masvingo Central Police Station under RRB 5457646 on Saturday last week, but Charumbira has not yet been arrested.

In leaked WhatsApp chats seen by NewsDay, Charumbira told the victim’s father that he regretted that the incident occurred and pleaded with him not to share the leaked audio in which he was allegedly soliciting for a kiss from the 27-year-old niece.

“Mangwanani Shumba. Even before I opened the audio, I heard from Nyembesi who had heard from Jonny,” the former deputy minister is heard saying.

“I like your spirit. Let us maintain the constructive approach. Let’s build and not destroy the good spirit.

“You sent me the audio to listen and respond. Nothing is better than that.

“Although I would have suggested not sharing the audio before engaging with me, I will not be diffensive (sic).

“I will be open and seek to mend. Please take your comfort to meet and get the confused circumstances, clear confusion and mixed up identity. Until now.

“Cool down. Ngatisangane tiri two (Let’s meet the two of us).

“You may choose to understand my IGNORANCE at the time (sic). I regret it.”

But Charumbira told NewsDay yesterday that he wanted to file charges against those who were raising the allegations, which he said were false.

“I actually want to sue those who are levelling those false allegations against me,” he said.

“There is no element of truth in those allegations. I never spoke to them after the charges were filed against me.”

He, however, requested further questions in writing, but had not yet responded by last night.

“I want to set the record straight,” he said.

“Send me your question on WhatsApp and I will explain everything to you.”

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police would release a statement on the matter.

“We still stand by what we said earlier that we will release a statement in due course,” Nyathi said.

“On allegations of threatening the victim, I will check with the Officer Commanding Masvingo.”

The victim’s father refused to comment on his conversation with Charumbira.

“The complaint should speak on this matter. Let me see what I can do. I will get back to you,” he told NewsDay.

Repeated efforts to get in touch with him later were in vain as he rejected calls from this publication.

But the leaked chats seen by NewsDay show that Charumbira accused the victim of “maliciously” filing the charges against him, apparently after failing to get the family to withdraw the charges.

“I know you are working on documentation to go to Canada and run away from Zimbabwe after messing up my name with lies,” Charumbira said in the leaked chats.

“Do not run away. Ndakatosviba kare (my name was long soiled), let’s meet in court.

“As a result of this attack on me, there is a lot of information between you, sekuru Foki and Gari which I know.

“Ndavurawa image pasi rose nenhema kuti (My image has been tarnished worldwide through allegations that) I touched (your) private parts etc kidnapped etc. Whoom! Mwari ndewedu tese (God is for us all).

“Vana (The likes of) Takanayi and other CCC members had several meetings with you to push this agenda.

“I did not think you would agree to falsehoods against me to please them.”

In the 16-minute audio recording that has gone viral, Charumbira reportedly solicited for a kiss from the victim, who spurned his advances.

According to a police memo, Charumbira called the complainant on March 31 this year and invited her for lunch at a top hotel in Harare while she was on her way to Mazowe on school business.

At the hotel, Charumbira allegedly fondled the complainant’s breasts.

He also put his hand in her dress and kissed her without her consent, part of the memo reads.

Women’s rights organisations have demanded Charumbira’s arrest to allow justice to take its course.

Sources from her community suspect Rudo Nyoka was bewitched by a married woman, and died a few days, after her belly ballooned.

She was also reported to have surrendered her three-year-old daughter to a local sangoma for close to two months as a US$400 loan guarantee. Some claim she sought a charm from the sangoma to attract mbingas.

Harare Man Hauled To Court Over R_ape

A 49 year old Harare man yesterday appeared in court for allegedly rɑp!ng his niece, who is now 18 several times.

He appeared before regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje charged with rɑpǝ and was remanded on bail of $200 000 to May 29.

The State alleges that in 2012, the girl was playing and the uncle went with her into his bedr00m and rɑpǝd her.

It is further alleged that sometime in 2015, the girl was slǝǝping in the dining room when the uncle returned from work, and he rɑpǝd her again. In both instances the girl was well below the age of consent.

The court heard that the uncle continued to ƨǝxuɑlly assault the girl on several occasions until she told him that if he continued, she would reveal the assaults to his wife. The uncle then stopped the rɑpǝ.

Victim’s Family Demands The Arrest Of Chief Charumbira

By A Correspondent- The family of a 27 year old Masvingo woman, who was allegedly ƨǝxuɑlly assaulted by president of the Chiefs Council, Fortune Charumbira, has demanded the former deputy minister’s arrest.

The victim filed a case of ƨǝxuɑl assault against Charumbira, who is also president of Pan-African Parliament (PAP), on Saturday last week at Masvingo Central Police Station under RRB 5457646.

Police said they would release a statement on the matter.

The victim is said to be Charumibra’s niece.

In an exclusive interview with NewsDay, the father, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, said: “My daughter is terrified.

She feels intimidated. This is because of the communication that she has been receiving from the perpetrator.”

Charumbira allegedly tried to influence his niece to drop the case, but did not succeed.

She will not bow to any influence to withdraw the charges,” the father said.

“But we want justice to prevail in this case. The law should take its course.

We don’t know whether because he is a high-profile person, who holds a top post, including that of PAP, is influencing authorities not to get arrested.

“But for the record, we are not engaging Chief Fortune on any platform apart from waiting for justice to take its course.”

According to a police memo, Charumbira called the complainant on March 31 this year and invited her for lunch at a top hotel in Harare while she was on her way to Mazowe on school business.

At the hotel, Charumbira allegedly f0ndled the complainant’s brǝɑƨts.

He also put his hand in her dress and k!ssed her without her consent, part of the memo reads.

The father insisted that Charumbira made ƨǝxuɑl advances fully aware that she was his niece.

“My daughter did not grow up in the Charumbira area,” he said.

“She was raised by her mother elsewhere and would occasionally come to visit.

Her first encounter with Charumbira was in January this year.”

He added: “She wanted a piece of land in the Charumbira area for her horticultural projects.

“She asked me to accompany her to the chief to ask for the land on her behalf.

“But I said, ‘No. I must not influence the chief to give you the land. Go on your own and introduce yourself and if he indeed can offer you the land, he can, even without my influence.’

“She went there and introduced herself to Charumbira, who acknowledged her as his daughter (niece).”

The father added: “From what my daughter told me, her encounter with him went well that first time, but was not really fruitful, because he asked her to come back another day.”

Yesterday, Charumbira said his enemies were fabricating stories about him.

“It is very clear from your publications that someone is pushing an agenda against me. It’s very clear,” he said.

In responses via WhatsApp, the chief, who is a strong Zanu PF supporter, said he does not handle land issues.

“I refer all requests for land to a team, which is assigned for that purpose,” Charumbira said.

“(The victim) never said she wanted to see me for land. Mind you, I never knew her properly.

“I have her texts leading to seeing me in Harare on March 31 and April 2. All is clear in the texts.

“I have been holding on to them for legal reasons now that there are such allegations.

“I have messages all the way through. You have one side of the narrative.”

He later said the matter was now sub judice.

“Sharing too much is too prejudicial,” the former Local Government and Public Works deputy minister said.

On Wednesday, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba said the law should take its course after Charumbira claimed the victim’s family was being influenced by the country’s main opposition party.

“How does CCC get involved in this case? We condemn any form of abuse and violence against women,” Siziba said.

“If there was abuse of power, Charumbira, just like any other citizen, should face the wrath of the law.

“In other democratically progressive countries, Charumbira would have resigned both from PAP and Chiefs’ Council, but because we are in Zimbabwe, he is still a free man.”

ZIMSEC Extends Exam Registration Deadline

PROSPECTIVE candidates who failed to register for the November Ordinary and Advanced level examinations have been given a lifeline after the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) announced that it will open a five-day window for registration next month.

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) told ZBC News this Wednesday that it will open a five-day window to allow prospective candidates who failed to meet the 14 April deadline to register for the November examinations.

The window will be open from the 8th to the 12th of May.

“ZIMSEC has opened up a mop-up window basically for registration. This window is to allow candidates who may have failed to register by the 14th of April 2023, which was the initial deadline and also for candidates to be able to verify their registration details as well as the subjects they would have registered to,” said ZIMSEC Spokesperson Nicky Dhlamini.

“When the school opens they will be able to verify their information. The window is open from the 8th of May to the 12 of May as parents can pay for registration.”

“Currencies which can be used to pay for examination fees are the local Zimbabwean dollar, the US dollar as well as the South African Rand. The rate for Zimbabwean dollar payments will be issued on the 5th of May 2023 and it will be held during that period,” she added.

“Candidates can access registration at centres of their choice and make payments during this period. “

Registration during the window will not attract a late registration fee as has been the case in the past.- ZBC News

Calls For Wiwa Release Increase

CCC Namibia applauds the PDM President, McHenry Venaani for exhibiting solidarity with Hon Job Sikhala.

17 April 2023

Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia expresses extraordinary gratitude to the organic leader of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), President McHenry Venaani for picturing the dire need to offer solidarity to the victims of state repression in the motherland such as Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala. Citizens who subscribe to the Yellow Movement led by the pragmatic change champion-in-chief, President Nelson Chamisa appreciate the Pan-African gesture from the leader of the main opposition in the Parliament of the (Land of the Brave), Namibia.

On his official Twitter handle, the vibrant leader noted that the Popular Democratic Movement penned a letter to President Hage in his capacity as SADC Chair Troika Organ of Politics, Defence and Security to release CCC MP Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala who has endured state-sponsored incarceration on concocted charges. He went on to express his wish for Zimbabwe free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in the impending watershed plebiscite. Citizens resident in Namibia urge SADC countries to amplify their revolutionary voices against authoritarianism in Zimbabwe, Eswatini, DRC, Malawi, etc so that residents can enjoy their democratic freedoms.

Moreover, the way Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala is being treated by the state makes him an undoubted political prisoner who is being tortured for defending the vulnerable. Yesterday, change seekers were perturbed to hear that the prisoner of conscience has been slapped with another charge as if the current persecution by prosecution is not enough. The ruthless Harare regime laid new frivolous charges against him for allegedly “Disorderly Conduct” and he will appear in Court 12 for this novel case on 20 April 2023, bringing his trumped-up charges to four (4), on which has been denied bail. We encourage citizens to flood the captured courts demanding the immediate release of Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala on the Court day in question.

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia Rundu Branch interim chairperson, Dr. Simbarashe Ndoda thanked President McHenry Venaani for listening to the plea on the issue of the gross abuse of human rights to be tabled before SADC by our main opposition leader in Parliament. He went on to declare that Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala a political prisoner who is illegally imprisoned for speaking strongly against the butchery of the late Moreblessing Ali, may her dear soul rest in protest. Namibia district shall continue to demand justice for Sikhala, the gruesomely murdered CCC activist Moreblessing Ali who is yet to be buried since May 2022 and the victims of the dictatorship in Zimbabwe.

What boggles the minds of constitutional democrats in Namibia is that even those who committed serious crimes such as stock theft, murder, rape, robbery, looters, corrupters, gold thieves, etc are given bail and some are acquitted but the Hon Mp and officer of the court has been denied bail more than 12 times since the 14th of June 2022. Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala now needs solidarity from all corners of the world. Regional leaders should jet in to bring an abrupt end to the arbitrary detentions, banning of political rallies, and private meetings by the alternative government.

In a nutshell, apart from the powerful spirit of Ubuntu and true Pan-Africanism exhibited by the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) President, CCC celebrates the engagement undertaken between President Nelson Chamisa’s delegation and the SADC secretariat. We hope that this time our regional body will not continue with their habitual Big Brother politics. We anticipate a transformed regional organization with the new quest to observe free, fair, and credible elections immune from rigging, politically motivated violence, media capture, and private voters roll only to mention a few so that we will be able to avert successive disputed elections in July\August 2023.

Commenting after receiving public reprisals for publishing a string of factually void statements, Chinono said he is an international professional who has no care about the opposition party that he has been accusing of being dead like a dodo bird.

He said those who are criticising him are “stupid.” He wrote (print)-

“The things that my people spent a week discussing are so stupid, and explain why ZANUPF continues to rule with impunity.

“No paracetamol in central hospitals, no clean drinking water, no jobs, no books in schools, but you make a journalist & writer trend through insults!

CRAZY! “

Chinono also boasted by saying MPs are quiet about the plight of pregnant women who are dying due to poor hospital conditions, allegations which veteran activists dismiss, with the jailed Makomborero Haruzivishe saying Chin’ono is insulting MPs who for over 2 decades have stood up against state brutality raising not just what he accuses them of, but also thousands of opposition activists who sacrificed their very lives following their legislators continuing in their commitment to push for affordable quality healthcare.

Earlier in the week, Chin’ono also said he is an international figure who is not worried of if being shut out by the opposition, CCC party which is crying out against his accusations against it. He said, “Tsitsi and myself are international figures …why should we worry about CCC?,” said Hopewell Chin’ono after claiming before a SAPES Trust panel that he’s mediating for Auxillia Mnangagwa to get Nelson Chamisa to agree to a GNU, boasts which the latter rubbishes and dismisses.

Chin’ono disrupted the making of the #Goldmafia documentary by threatening a researcher who had obtained a breakthrough to pin down Emmerson Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia on 14 May 2022. Chin’ono claimed a publishing deadline announced to Mrs Mnangagwa was blackmail and that the tweet posting must be deleted.

Namibian Opposition Leader Calls For Wiwa Release

ZBC’s Idah Mhetu Laid To Rest

ZBC photojournalist and online producer Idah Mhetu, who died on Sunday, has been buried at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare, with colleagues describing her as an exceptional photographer.

Emotional as it was, the goodbye was not easy, but had to be said.

People from all walks of life came to bid farewell to one of the most respected female photojournalists in the media industry, Idah Mhetu, through song and dance.

Her pictures often told stories that needed no wording.

Affectionately known by her peers as MaGumbo, Mhetu succumbed to a short illness on Sunday.

As family, friends and colleagues bade farewell to Mhetu, fond memories are what they will all hold onto.

“I’ve lost a sister who was protective of me, spoiled me often and always showered me with love. Idah was a happy soul who took time to make you happy.”

“We have lost a dear colleague who was passionate about her work and the camera was her baby that she treasured and loved so much. We take solace in her works that she has left behind.”

“We worked with Idah on so many programmes and she took her work seriously that was evidenced by her photographs. We have lost an exceptional photographer in our time.”

“Idah was my niece I raised her when her mother relocated to the US when she was young. She was a girl who really wanted to better herself hence people are talking good things about her. I was one uncle who got the chance to be spoiled by her and was looking forward to being spoiled more.”

The Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Honourable Kindness Paradza commended the professionalism the late Mhetu exhibited when called for duty.

“Idah was a professional photographer who would understand the assignment when called for duty. Her work speaks for its self through the photographs she took which told the story of the work being done by the Second Republic of developing the country. She maybe gone but her photographs will live to the story for years to come,” he said.

As painful as it is, Mhetu cannot click a picture anymore, but the many clicks her camera made will forever serve as part of the beautiful memories.

Mnangagwa Hypocrisy Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC Youth Taskforce spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma has challenged young people to protest at rampant looting of gold by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

In a hard-hitting statement, Sarkozy accused Mr Mnangagwa of reversing the gains of the liberation struggle.

See Chuma’s statement below …

A NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE:

A CCC govt will create a culture of governance whose tenets will include openness, freedom of the press, transparency and access to information to increase the responsiveness of government bodies, while simultaneously having a positive effect on the levels of public participation in our country.

The current regime has dismally failed to fulfill what Tongogara, Nkomo, Dabengwa, Chitepo, Jason Moyo and many others fought for during the liberation struggle.

We need new leaders who will fulfill the liberation struggle promises.

What’s Wrong With Chamisa Using “Creator” Talk To Define CCC Loyalty?

What is wrong with Nelson Chamisa using the term, Creator to define loyalty? The opposition was attacked by some Zimbabweans over nomination forms that require applicants to as a pre requested declare ‘loyalty to the Creator.’

The development comes as Chamisa’s opponents used religion as an ideological core since the 1960s, and the politics of most nations of the world also utilised creation-fixations as organisational pivots.

President Chamisa Confronts Mnangagwa Over Wiwa Detention

Tinashe Sambiri

There is no independence when Job Sikhala and several political activists are languishing in prison.

This was said by CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa on Tuesday.

The CCC leader also paid tribute to the gallant veterans of the liberation struggle.

“We salute the gallant citizens who fought for our independence. That independence is yet to come. It’s not yet #Uhuru. True #Independence a happy and prosperous Zimbabwe for everyone is definitely coming! Get ready. All citizens, political prisoners @JobSikhala1 must be free,” said President Chamisa.

“THERE WILL BE CHANGE IN ZIMBABWE! Change is coming. Get ready citizens of this blessed nation,” added the CCC leader.

Nakamba Targets Premier League Return

Sky Bet Championship side Luton Town, home to Warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, have secured a Premier League play-off place with three games to spare.

Rob Edwards’ charges confirmed their play off place, after coming from behind to force a 1-1 draw at Reading last night.

Nakamba, who is on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season and was at some point described as the missing piece of the puzzle in Luton’s quest for promotion, was brilliant again in the Hatters engine room.

Edwards hailed his side’s fighting spirit.

“I’m really proud of the lads in there tonight,” he told the club’s website after last night’s game.

“I know the sending off changed the game to give us probably then complete domination and control, they still obvious retained a threat on the counter attack, but I felt with 11 men, especially in the first half, I thought we were really good, really dominant, had loads of control.

“It was similar to Saturday, we were really building up and it looked like the goal was coming. We created some really big chances, unfortunately we couldn’t get one before half-time.

“The goal we conceded, Andy Carroll’s been doing that for years, at the highest level as well. There was a little block, he gets away and we conceded from a corner. It’s something for us to look at and be better from, but the lads, they just never give up, never give up.

“I’m really pleased with everyone out on the pitch, but then the changes really gave us a fresh impetus and some new ideas, a little bit more creativity in certain aspects of the pitch,” added Edwards.- Soccer24 News

Relief As ZIMSEC Opens Exam Registration Window Period

Zanu PF Dumps Wadyajena, Ziyambi

By-Zanu PF has endorsed the final list of candidates representing the party in the upcoming harmonised elections.

The list excludes Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena and Ziyambi Ziyambi, who lost the primary elections.

Robert Nyemudzo also bounced back in Chipinge South after being cleared of allegations of brewing illicit beer and drug peddling.

Enock Porusingazi had been endorsed as the winner of the Chipinge South primary election after it emerged that Cde Nyemudzo was involved in illegal drug dealings.

In Mutare West Constituency, Nyasha Marange will also represent Zanu PF.

Initially, Brighton Manyengureni had been declared the winner.
The Politburo also endorsed primary election results for re-runs held in five outstanding constituencies, with two female candidates defying the odds to win in Zvimba West and Gokwe Nembudziya.

Maruva Mercy Dinha is the party’s candidate for Zvimba West after defeating Ziyambi Ziyambi, while in Gokwe-Nembudziya, former Cabinet minister Flora Bhuka, bounced back after defeating the incumbent legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena.
In Insiza South, Spare Sithole will now represent the party after Andrew Langa withdrew from the race.
The Politburo also endorsed the candidature of Ephraim Fundukwa, who will represent the party in Churu Constituency, while Mbare Constituency will be represented by Martin Matinyanya, who won against Zanu PF Harare Provincial Youth Chairman, Emmanuel Mahachi.
Addressing the media after yesterday’s Politburo meeting in Harare last night, Zanu PF National Political Commissar Mike Bimha said the Politburo met to confirm the candidates who won in the primary election re-runs held over the weekend, with focus now shifting to the roadmap for general elections expected in July or August.
“The party has now put a lid on candidates’ selection with focus now centred on galvanising support ahead of the general elections, where the target is to attain at least 5 million votes.
“The primary elections for Zanu PF are over, we now focus on the road to the final victory on our preparations to campaign for the 2023 harmonised elections,” said Bimha.
Speaking at the same occasion, Zanu PF national spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the Politburo expressed satisfaction with the outcome of primary elections.
Zanu PF National Political Commissar Mike Bimha (right) and the party’s national spokesperson Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa address the media after an Extraordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare yesterday.
He scoffed at some private media outlets that published falsehoods, claiming that President Mnangagwa had tried to save his preferred candidates in some constituencies.
Mutsvangwa said the outcomes of the primary elections were a testimony that there are no sacred cows in Zanu PF in the spirit of upholding democracy.
“I don’t know where that came from. Definitely it did not come from the voters or the membership of Zanu PF who were doing the selection of the candidates through the party system.
“The outcome of the elections comes from the voters who are membership of Zanu PF. It didn’t matter who you stood for in the party, it didn’t matter where you stood in terms of proximity or distance from the President.
“This was a communion between the candidate and the voters and that is what ensued in the process,” said Mutsvangwa.
Some Politburo members, Mutsvangwa said, failed to make it in the primary elections.
“One of the re-runs (referring to Zvimba West) has served to confirm that the President had no sacred cows.
“One of our colleagues ( Ziyambi) did not make it; he congratulated the woman Cde who came out tops. We have no losers and winners in Zanu PF,” he said.
The Politburo also commended the organisers of this year’s Independence Day celebrations, which were held in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central Province.
This was the first time since 1980 that Independence celebrations were held in a rural setting.

Two Chamisa Lawmakers Quit

By- Two lawmakers from the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) in Manicaland said they would not participate in the next election.

Mutare Central and Mutasa Central legislators, Innocent Gonese and Trevor Saruwaka, have declined to contest in the 2023 elections.

The two stepped down despite being nominated.

In a statement, Gonese, who is one of the opposition’s senior officials, said he had decided to back another nomination candidate Brian James to contest for the seat.
Gonese announced his decision to not contest in the upcoming general elections shortly after Saruwaka stepped down from contesting. Said Gonese:
I would like to thank the people of Mutare Central for giving me the opportunity to represent them as their representative in Parliament and also for nominating me as a Candidate in the forthcoming elections.
I am also happy that the former Mutare Mayor was also nominated as a candidate and while all the names are being vetted pending further processes, such as consultations and consensus in terms of the new candidate selection procedures, I have decided to decline the nomination.
I had a fruitful discussion with James yesterday as I consider him a very worthy and deserving person to take over from me and I am pleased to advise that we are going to work together to ensure that Mutare Central remains yellow and plays its part in ensuring that we deliver maximum votes for President Chamisa and all candidates in other positions.
Gonese has been quite vocal in Parliament ever since he was elected into the August House in 2008 on an MDC-T ticket.
The CCC candidate nomination process is being conducted by an independent body, the Citizens’ Independent Candidate Selection Panel (CISP).
The process has four stages, namely candidate nomination, candidate vetting, candidates’ caucuses and declaration of successful candidates.

Local Govt Ministry Official In Court For Fraud

By A Correspondent| A local government ministry official Mlandeli Sayi and Arosume Property Developers accountant Katson Kwaramba appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court facing fraud charges after they connived to repossess 7010 square metres of land belonging to one Absolom Muchandiona on the false pretext that he had not paid development fees.

According to the state, Sayi and Arosume Property Developers generated a letter to Muchandiona indicating that he owed US$236 633.46 which they misrepresented as development fees.

This was despite the accused knowing fully well that Muchandiona had met all his obligations with both Manson Mnaba, Arosume Property Developers and the local government ministry.

Sayi and Arosume Property Developers proceeded to repossess Muchandiona’s land to another individual named Abraham Murwira despite receiving a letter from the complainant indicating that he had paid development fees in full.

Investigations by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) later established that Muchandiona had paid intrinsic value of the land and development fees in full.

As a result of Sayi and Arosume Property Developers action, Muchandiona suffered prejudice of US$46 518.00 and ZWL$103 500.00 respectively.

Meanwhile, Sayi has another pending case before the Harare Magistrates court where is accused of criminal abuse of office resulting in the state losing almost US$1.2 Million in an urban land deal.

According to the state, Sayi secretly sold 50 residential stands from Carrick Creagh, Borrowdale set aside by the local government as collateral security.

After selling the 50 residential stands in US dollars, Sayi proceeded to pay the local government ministry in local currency.

ZACC is investigating numerous cases received from Carrick Creagh residents regarding suspected connivance between Arosume Property Development and Local Government Ministry.

Sayi and Kwaramba were granted free bail.

FIFA Delegation In Zim For Crucial Talks

The Sport and Recreation Commission – SRC – chairman Gerald Mlotshwa has given an update on the meeting with a FIFA delegation.

The delegation, which consists of FIFA senior member associations governance manager Sarah Solemale and FIFA head of development programmes in Africa Solomon Mudege – a Zimbabwean based at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, arrived in the country this week.

The visit by the FIFA officials is meant to help iron out issues affecting the local football.

The country is currently banned from all international football activities due to government’s interference in running the game.

Speaking to The Herald, Mlotshwa said they held a fruitful meeting with the delegation and will have another conference with CAF officials this week.

The SRC boss said: “They have engaged us. We had a very fruitful meeting. We had a very positive meeting.

“The CAF delegation unfortunately didn’t manage to make this meeting, but we are meeting them on Thursday, and there will be further updates coming from that. But everything is quite positive, let’s put it that way.

“I think it means that both sides are committed to finding a solution to the problems bedeviling football in this country.

“It’s always a good thing when people are communicating and are meeting especially physically like this because there’s then a lot of clarity on issues that may not have been clear before.”

The FIFA delegation will also meet the ZIFA board comprising the current and ousted members fronted by Felton Kamambo.- Soccer24 News

Cervical Cancer Is Preventable

President Chamisa’s Aide Vows To Confront Mnangagwa Over Gold Smuggling

Hopewell Says I’m An International Figure, Why Should I Worry About CCC?

By Dorrothy Moyo | Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono says his journalism will bring paracetamol and clean water back into hospitals.

Commenting after receiving public reprisals for publishing a string of factually void statements, Chinono said he is an international professional who has no care about the opposition party that he has been accusing of being dead like a dodo bird.

He described the actions of people criticising him as “stupid.” He wrote (print)-

Chin’ono claimed a publishing deadline announced to Mrs Mnangagwa was blackmail and that the twitter posting must be deleted.
