Man Accuses Cleric Of Snatching Wife

A Harare man who is having marital disputes with his wife told the court that their problems were being caused by a pastor from the church where her wife fellowships.

The matter came to light at the Harare Civil Court, during cross-examination when Magistrate Ms Tamara Chibindi asked Danger Wisikesi why he was assaulting his wife, Ruth Jack.

Jack had applied for a peace order against her husband whom she accused of assaulting and accusing her of being promiscuous.

“On December 6 last year, my husband assaulted me because he thought that I was dating a man from our church. Up to now, there is no peace at the house over that matter. I am praying that you grant me a peace order,” she said.

However, Wisikesi denied the allegations arguing that he never assaulted her but was angry as his wife was having an affair with a pastor from her church which is called Simbarashe Apostolic Church.

“On the day in question, I never assaulted her except to push her after I got angry when she asked me why I was accusing her of dating the pastor.

“This is after I had asked her where she was coming from after 10pm without even preparing any meal for the family,” he said.

He said Jack told him that she had walked out the pastor who had visited her at that hour.

He complained that the pastor was always at his house alone with his wife during the day when he was at work.

Wisikesi said ever since his wife became the personal assistant of the pastor, she no longer communicated with him during the day over the phone as before.

“She no longer chats with me during the day and goes on trips with the pastor. This has really affected me emotionally and has affected my performance at work.”

When asked about the affair, Jack said she was not in love with the pastor.

“Yes, I get along with the pastor but we are not having an affair. He only comes to pick me up so that we can go to the mountain for prayers together,” she said.

Magistrate Ms Chibindi advised Jack to stop allowing the pastor from visiting her at home but meet at church only, if it is really church business to avoid problems in her marriage.

She dismissed her application for lack of merit.- The Herald

AKA’s Family Shoots Down Conspiracy Theories

“…We do not condone what’s been said about his friends and those making dangerous statements and we appeal with them to cease from doing so…”

AKA’s assassination has left his family members, friends and girlfriend traumatised and shattered.
Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was gunned down outside a popular restaurant in Durban on Friday evening in a shooting that also resulted in the death of his lifelong friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, a chef and author.

AKA’s mother Lynn, brother Steffan, and girlfriend Nadia Nakai were visibly distraught and struggled to hold back the tears as the rapper’s father and family spokesperson Tony Forbes made a statement to the media on Tuesday Afternoon at Rockets Bryanston, an upscale restaurant and lifestyle centre in Bryanston.

Lynn and Nadia, who donned black dresses and black sunglasses, held hands and comforted each other with hugs and whispers throughout Tony’s speech.

When taking to the podium, which was placed alongside a lit white candle and AKA’s picture, Tony expressed his gratitude towards his sons, Mzansi, his son’s fans, friends and family members who had shown them support as they mourn his son’s untimely death.

Tony went on to thank AKA’s friends, former Dream Team member Lusasa “Saso” Ngcobo, Don Design, and DJ Benny Maverick, among others, for being there for his son “from the start to the finish”.

“The close friends that he had, they’ve been at our side just like they’ve been with him since Friday evening. They’ve been at our side supporting us,” he said.

“We would like to say that his colleagues and associates have extended themselves beyond expectation. They’ve really really gone out of their way to support us, and we thank his wonderful neighbours who have comforted and accommodated us in this ti Addressing speculations and conspiracies that have pinned his close friends as suspects in his death, Tony slammed the claims, revealing that AKA’s friends, who were at the scene, were left traumatised by the incident.

“We send our love and support to friends who were with Kiernan in his last moments in Durban and we feel their trauma and pain as well. Our home will always be open to them. We do not condone what’s been said about his friends and those making dangerous statements and we appeal with them to cease from doing so.”

Tony said while they were aware of the NPA’s declaration, their focus as a family now was to celebrate their son’s life and “give him a dignified send-off with as little distraction as possible” and sent their condolences to the Motsoane family for the death of Tebello, who was AKA’s friend who “played a key role in laying the foundation” of the rapper’s career.me. It just shows how truly loved Kiernan was. And we are proud of that.” -Timeslive

Lawyer Caught Lying

A lawyer with Mutumbwa Law Firm, Milliscent Moyo who was standing in for Tino Chinyoka who has been representing property developer George Katsimberis was today reprimanded for lying in court by a Harare magistrate.
Moyo had sought a postponement for her client’s case saying the lead counsel went to South Africa for medical attention on Monday.

It turned out that he was actually in the country.

Harare magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwuriro dismissed the application for postponement of the matter saying Katsimberis had other lawyers who were sitting on the bar. She said the trial must proceed after lunch without fail.

Chinyoka, who was actually in Harare then heard that his client will be subjected to trial during his absence. He quickly turned up in court around 2pm to the surprise of everyone.

He said he was supposed to leave the country late on Tuesday, adding that there was miscommunication with Moyo.

But Muchuchuti-Guwuriro was not impressed and reprimanded Moyo for lying in court.

“The problem the court is having is that it is said advocate Chinyoka travelled last night to South Africa while in actual fact he is in the country. The legal practitioners are officers of the court and must always say the truth,” Muchuchuti-Guwuriro said.

Katsimberis was in the middle of his application for referral to the Constitutional Court when the matter was adjourned last month.

The property developer is facing charges of fraud after he allegedly built a showroom in a joint venture agreement in Borrowdale using a fraudulently acquired building plan.

Chinyoka who was filing an application for referral of the matter to the ConCourt was then excused by the court and told to leave for South Africa for his medical attention.

Muchuchuti-Guwuriro said Katsimberis’ lawyer, advocate Tawanda Kanengoni should proceed with the trial.

Chinyoka however refused to leave the bar saying he will continue with his application for referral to the Constitutional Court in his current state of health.

Katsimberis, through Chinyoka, submitted that he is seeking the ConCourt to determine whether his rights are being violated when his key witness was arrested.– AMH

Why You Must Avoid Formula Milk

GENEVA, 8th February 2023 – The formula milk industry’s marketing tactics are exploitative and urgent clampdowns are needed to tackle misleading claims and political interference, according to a new three-paper series published in The Lancet today. Industry influence – which includes lobbying against vital breastfeeding support measures – seriously jeopardizes the health and rights of women and children, the papers show.

“This new research highlights the vast economic and political power of the big formula milk companies, as well as serious public policy failures that prevent millions of women from breastfeeding their children,” said Professor Nigel Rollins, Scientist at WHO and author of a paper on formula milk marketing. “Actions are needed across different areas of society to better support mothers to breastfeed for as long as they want, alongside efforts to tackle exploitative formula milk marketing once and for all.”

Breastfeeding provides immense and irreplaceable benefits to babies and young children. It helps children survive and develop to their full potential, providing vast nutritional benefits, reducing infection risks and lowering rates of obesity and chronic diseases in later life. Yet, globally, only around 1 in 2 newborns are put to the breast within the first hour of life while fewer than half of infants under 6 months are exclusively breastfed, as per WHO recommendations.

Given the significant contributions of breastfeeding to people’s health, the Lancet series recommends much greater support for breastfeeding within healthcare and social protection systems – including guaranteeing sufficient paid maternity leave. Currently, around 650 million women lack adequate maternity protections, the papers note. Misleading marketing claims and strategic lobbying from the dairy and formula milk industries further add to the challenges parents face, by increasing anxiety around breastfeeding and infant care.

An exploitative marketing playbook

Triggered by The Baby Killer investigative report into Nestle’s marketing of formula milk in low and middle-income countries in the 1970s, the World Health Assembly developed the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (the Code) in 1981 and several subsequent resolutions. However, intensive marketing of infant formula continues largely unabated, with sales from these products now approaching US$ 55 billion a year.

The first paper in the Lancet series documents how misleading marketing claims directly exploit parental anxieties around normal infant behaviours, suggesting that commercial milk products alleviate fussiness or crying, for instance, that they help with colic, or prolong night-time sleep. The authors stress that, when mothers are appropriately supported, such parental concerns can be managed successfully with exclusive breastfeeding.

“The formula milk industry uses poor science to suggest, with little supporting evidence, that their products are solutions to common infant health and developmental challenges,” says Professor Linda Richter from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. “This marketing technique clearly violates the 1981 Code, which says labels should not idealise the use of formula to sell more product.”

The series explains how formula milk marketing exploits the lack of support for breastfeeding by governments and society, while misusing gender politics to sell its products. This includes framing breastfeeding advocacy as a moralistic judgment, while presenting milk formula as a convenient and empowering solution for working mothers.

The series further draws attention to the power of the milk formula industry to influence national political decisions and interfere with international regulatory processes. In particular, the dairy and formula milk industries have established a network of unaccountable trade associations and front groups that lobby against policy measures to protect breastfeeding or control the quality of infant formula.

Society-wide changes needed

In addition to ending exploitative marketing tactics and industry influence, broader actions across workplaces, healthcare, governments, and communities are needed to effectively support women who want to breastfeed so that it becomes a collective societal responsibility, the authors state, rather than placing the onus on women.

In particular, the authors highlight the need to ensure women have adequate maternity protections assured by law, including paid maternity leave that aligns, at minimum, with the WHO-recommended duration of six months for exclusive breastfeeding. Maternity protections should further be extended to the millions of women working in the informal sector who are currently excluded from these benefits, the papers note.

Beyond parental leave, the authors call for formal recognition of the contribution of women’s unpaid care work to national development. Globally, women are estimated to perform three-quarters of all unpaid family care work – more than three times that of men. By some accounts, this contributes to around a third of a country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“Given the immense benefits of breastfeeding to their families and national development, women who wish to breastfeed need to be much better supported so that they can meet their breastfeeding goals,” said Professor Rafael Pérez-Escamilla from the Yale School of Public Health. “A large expansion in health professional training on breastfeeding, as well as statutory paid maternity leave and other protections are vital.”

Expanding training for health workers on breastfeeding is critical, the papers state, so that they can offer skilled counselling to parents before and after birth.

Neymar Speaks On Row With PSG Official

Neymar has opened up on the clash with sporting director Luis Campos after PSG’s 3-1 Ligue 1 defeat to AS Monaco on Saturday.

The row came after Campos accused some footballers of a “lack of aggressiveness” after the team endured a poor week as they were also knocked out the Coupe de France by Marseille.

Neymar and Marquinhos responded in disagreement and this led to a heated dressing room argument between the three.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League round-of-16 first leg against Bayern Munich, Neymar said the dressing room confrontation is part of football.

“It happened, a little discussion, we weren’t in agreement. It’s part of football,” he told a news conference on Monday. “Things happen every day. But I love them all.

“It’s like with my girlfriend. Football isn’t just love and friendship. There is respect, but there have to be disagreements and discussions sometimes are needed to help you improve.

Fire Guts Mpilo Hospital

By- Fire has gutted Mpilo Central Hospital following an electrical fault.

Mpilo Central Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Narcisius Dzvanga said members of staff used fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the fire brigade arrived.
“We had a small fire incident around 7:45 am. It was dictated in the form of smoke and was then traced to the control box on the second floor. The fire was put out by members of staff using fire extinguishers on the floor. Patients are safe and staff are at work, there were no injuries and nothing was burnt except the control panel,” he said.
However, the fire left the Nutrition Unit and the University Office within the hospital without power.
The hospital has been affected by a series of fires that occurred in 2018, 2019, and in 2022.
In May 2021, a fire that gutted the doctors’ accommodation facilities left 39 healthcare workers homeless.
Following the series of fire incidents, Government built and completed the doctors’ quarters last year. Chronicle

Another ZINASU Leader Deserts Chamisa

By- Another former Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) leader has deserted the opposition for Zanu PF

Former spokesperson, Tatenda ‘Zuj’ Mandondo is the second ex-Zinasu leader to desert the opposition after Tafadzwa Mugwadi in recent years.

Mndondo described the CCC as a sinking ship which lacks seriousness.

He was part of scores of “deserters” unveiled and welcomed into the ruling party fold by President Emmerson Mnangagwa over the weekend. Mandondo spoke to NewZimbabwe:

We all have choices and decisions to make in life that are necessary for national development and unity of purpose and for them to scrutinise thoroughly their continued stay in a sinking ship.

My decision to join Zanu-PF was made of full body and mind inspired by the need to assist in the National framework and be part of a collaborative and unified political outfit that does not exhibit traits of chaos, confusion and despondency.

The opposition lacks seriousness in its approach and is the lone voice of a lone man or elite individuals, however, with ZANU PF you easily understand the command structure and still have your voice considered and your efforts acknowledged.

The issue with some pressure groups masquerading as political parties is regrettable as they lack proper substance to capacitate the masses they claim to lead, they do not provide opportunities, the democracy narrative being toyed around with has shifted dramatically and drastically from the days of the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and if they continue on their self-destructive path they will soon be a mere memory on the horizon.

Mandondo was unveiled as a new member alongside late MDC founding President Morgan Tsvangirai’s brother Collins, who was coming from the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC Alliance.

Expanding training for health workers on breastfeeding is critical, the papers state, so that they can offer skilled counselling to parents before and after birth.

Chamisa’s Weakness Has A Strategy

By Farai D Hove | Yes Nelson Chamisa is weak, but his weakness has a strategy, says @MhofuMutuwere during a ZimEye Twitter spaces that stretched 7hrs throughout Sun-Mon night.

For a whole 4 years, they are fighting themselves within and without, failing to conclude each day without accusing Chamisa of one thing or the other.

Zimbabwe is NOT a democracy and Zanu PF is rigging 2023 elections

By Wilbert Mukori| Zimbabweans love to talk about democracy but most of us have no clue what they are talking about. None!

“Democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people!” said Abraham Lincoln. He was the President of USA during that country’s civil war – the most divisive, traumatic period in that nation’s history.

The right to free, fair and credible elections is the heart and soul of democracy because the holding of free elections not only gives the people a meaningful say in the governance of the country, it is the ultimate expression of people’s power, people governing themselves.

Democracy and free elections are the two sides of the same coin; you cannot have a healthy and functioning democracy if you cannot guarantee free, fair and credible elections.

Ever since Zimbabwe attained her independence in 1980 to date, the country has never ever held free, fair and credible elections. Never! Mugabe and his cronies, made it clear if Zanu PF failed to win the 1980 elections the bush war would continue. The people voted to end the bush war and as soon as he got into power Mugabe moved swiftly to impose the de facto one party dictatorship.

Mugabe reneging on the time honoured “One man, one vote!” rallying call because he did not trust the British and the colonial administration of Ian Smith to hold free, fair and credible elections. He had the chance to redeem himself by restoring the democratic right of every Zimbabwean to free elections, instead he has rigged elections under the pretext his political opponents were puppets of the West.

So for 43 years and counting Zanu PF has denying the people of Zimbabwe a meaningful vote and a democratic government, a people’s government, under the pretext such a vote would result in regime change, replacing Zanu PF regime with a Western puppet regime.

Mugabe kick started the patronage system by buying ministerial limos for his Zanu PF cronies to replace the ordinary cars Ian Smith gave his ministers. Zanu PF leaders have become notorious for the blind loyalty to Mugabe. Even at the height of the Gukurahundi massacre; Zanu PF leaders saw nothing, heard nothing, said nothing and did nothing.

The patronage system has spread to every section of Zimbabwe society, it is central to the Zanu PF dictatorship and hegemony. It has come at a great price to the nation, it is the root cause of the gross mismanagement and rampant corruptions resulting in the criminal waste of the country’s material and human resources.

Imposing a de facto one-party dictatorship was a feeble excuse to hide the Mugabe and his cronies’ insatiable greed for absolute political power and the influence and wealth it brings – the essence of bad governance. By the turn of the century, just two decade since independence, the country was already in serious economic trouble and political paralysis.

The country needed democratic changes to stop the curse of rigged elections and bad governance.

In 1999, Morgan Tsvangirai and his friends launched their party MDC, short for Movement for Democratic Change, in answer to the people’s clamour for democratic changes to restore their freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote. After 23 years, 5 of which in the 2008 to 2013 Government of National Unity (GNU), MDC has failed to implement even one token democratic reform.

Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and they forgot about the reforms, just as readily as the Zanu PF leaders had done. Indeed, Zanu PF cronies crowed about how MDC leaders had sold out.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life, they will never rock the boat!” boasted the Zanu PF cronies, when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing any democratic reforms during the GNU.

Since the GNU debacle MDC/CCC leaders have insisted on participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship in return for a few gravy train seats. The nation’s hope of ending the Zanu PF autocracy is being sold for 30 pieces of silver and the people, the victims of the blatant betrayal.

The people of Zimbabwe had risked life and limb to elect the MDC leaders on the understanding that once in power they would deliver the democratic changes the nation was denying for. The MDC supporters had repeated change in their slogans to no end. And yet when the golden opportunity to implement reforms are arrived and was callously wasted, the people had failed to even notice it.

Indeed, even today with the benefit of hindsight many Zimbabweans still have no clue the primary purpose of 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms. They still don’t realise that MDC leaders sold out big time by failing to implement even one reform during the GNU when the country had is golden opportunity to do so.

It is ironic that many Zimbabweans are participating in these flawed and illegal Zimbabwean elections, regardless of the mountain of evidence Zanu PF is rigging the process under the delusion these are democratic elections. By participating, these people are giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and their own suffering.

It was the Greeks, bless them, who gave mankind democracy as a system of government in place of the failed autocracy, oligarchy, monarch, etc. The Greeks realised back then, 2 500 years ago, that for democracy to work, the people must be educated.

Given that both Zanu PF and most of the country’s opposition are only interested in securing political power for themselves; the need to educate the Zimbabwe populous is now a matter of national survival if the country is end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance.

The first lesson for Zimbabweans is that Zimbabwe is NOT a democracy, Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections and CCC are participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy in return for a share of the spoils of power. The rational response is to refuse to participate in the flawed elections, pointing out evidence of rigging and violence, denounce CCC for selling out by failing to implement reforms and participating in the elections out of greed and, last but most important of all, make sure Zanu PF does not get political legitimacy!

ZBC Reporter In Trouble Over US$25 000 Extortion Money

By- Tendai Munengwa, a senior ZBC reporter and a Central Intelligence Organisation agent, Henry Kachere, are in trouble for allegedly demanding US$25 000 from gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya to destroy incriminating evidence against him.

Mnengwa (44), of Hillside in Harare and Kachere (40), of Seke, appeared before Harare Magistrates Court last Saturday charged with extortion and were remanded in custody to February 13 for their bail application.

What happened:

The court heard that the duo hatched a plan to extort Sakupwanya, the CEO of Better Brands Jewellery, ZimLive reported.

On February 8, Munengwa allegedly told Sakupwanya that the CIO had “sensitive classified information in respect of illegal gold dealings” by his company.

Munengwa is also alleged to have said the evidence could be destroyed by Kachere, who is attached to the CIO’s Counter Intelligence Unit, upon the payment of US$25 000.

The National Prosecuting Authority told the court:

As a result of the exerted pressure, Sakupwanya indicated that he could afford US$15 000.

After accepting Sakupwanya’s offer, Munengwa allegedly advised the gold dealer that they would meet at 6 PM on February 9, 2023, so that he could introduce him to the CIO officer dealing with the matter.

The court heard that Sakupwanya called in the police who obtained a trap authority.

At the appointed time, Sakupwanya gave the trap money to one of his security officers, Tozivepi Milward, to give it to Munengwa and his accomplice outside his office at 2 Elliot Drive, Greendale, Harare.

Munengwa showed Milward a file which he claimed contained the incriminating documents.

Milward handed over the trap money to Munengwa before detectives closed in and took the two men into custody.

Police recovered US$15 000 in real and counterfeit notes which had been used in the trap.

Mnangagwa Confirms His Allies Are Thieves

President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday revealed that most of the land barons are actually top government officials who should be helping to fight corruption.

Speaking at the official opening of Aspindale Park and Aspire Heights Development yesterday in Harare, Mnangagwa said the land barons that have been duping desperate home seekers of their hard-earned cash were high profile individuals.

“I have realized that the people I send to solve the issue of land barons are also involved. They cannot arrest themselves because they are thieves,” Mnangagwa said.

He said the scourge has created illegal settlements in the capital that do not meet government standards.

“I have seen some of the settlements when I am flying out of the country. Some of the houses are so small and I wonder if there are any toilets there. I also wonder if they have addresses. I am sure most of the people use their memory to locate them. We do not want such settlements,” he said.

“Trends show that once housing and infrastructure growth are accorded an integral part in development, a nation is better poised to effectively implement its economic production and productivity mix,” he said.

He also vowed that he will wrestle local authorities from the opposition in the general elections later this year.

“Is Jacob Mafume here (Harare Mayor)? This time we are going to take control of the councils in the coming elections. The councils have failed to collect refuse and potholes are everywhere. Local authorities are reminded that the provision of often interlinked and functional facilities remains imperative.

“To this end, the prioritisation of backbone infrastructure such as water, health, waste management, transport and other related services is critical,” he said.

Pastor Beds Married Woman

By- A Harare man who is having marital disputes with his wife told the court that their problems were being caused by a pastor from the church where her wife fellowships.

She dismissed her application for lack of merit. Herald

Ex Zisco Workers Petition Parly

By SA Correspondent- About 20 members of the Ziscosteel Pension Fund have petitioned Parliament to press for the payment of US$3 million in outstanding pensions, documents obtained by NewsDay Business yesterday showed.

This figure translates to about $2,5 billion at the prevailing official foreign currency exchange rate.

The petition says the firm’s ex-workers were ready to be paid in Zimbabwe dollars.

The seven-page petition, which was submitted to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance and Economic Development about 10 days ago, showed that the 20-member group served the troubled steelmaker for a combined 600 years.

After leaving the firm at various stages, their attempts to be paid their pensions have been frustrated for a period spanning over half a decade, according to the Zimbabwe Pension and Insurance Rights Trust (ZimPIRT), which is representing the ex-Zisco staff.

Once southern Africa’s largest integrated steel operation, Zisco collapsed under the weight of unrestricted plunder and corruption by Zimbabwe’s elite over a decade ago.

Today, its Redcliffe operation — once a national pride — has been reduced to heaps of mangled steel and disintegrating furnaces.

Several global steel firms have attempted to take over the State-run firm, but many of the promising deals have faltered for various reasons.

The President said the former minister was a long-time civil servant, and later a holder of key ministerial portfolios under the First Republic.

President Mnangagwa said Dr Mushowe held very sensitive positions in Government, including serving as personal staff to the late former President Robert Mugabe with whom he worked closely for many years as Director of State Residences.

“Such placements called for total trust, integrity and loyalty, attributes which Dr Mushowe exuded and glowed in abundance,” said President Mnangagwa.

“His elevation to the level of Minister of Government in charge of key ministries like Transport, and Information and Publicity, reflected not just personal growth, but the profound faith Government reposed in him.”

Dr Mushowe was a prominent member of Zanu PF.

“In the party, he started from a humble role of a war collaborator in the struggle, rising to become a Member of Parliament, and a key figure in the party’s provincial structure of Manicaland.

“Before long, he became a Member of the Central Committee, before being elevated to the Politburo where he was in charge of Economic Policy and Affairs.

The party has lost a key stalwart and loyal cadre whose rich and perceptive contributions will be sorely missed. On behalf of the ruling party, Zanu PF, Government, our nation, my family and on my behalf, I wish to express my deepest, heartfelt condolences to the Mushowe family, especially to Mrs Mushowe and the children, on this their saddest loss.

“As they go through the painful motions of grief, may they find solace in the knowledge that our nation shares in their pain and bereavement. Indeed, his outstanding contribution to his country and people should assuage their grief which Zimbabwe today gives back through the great honour and respect it accords to the dear departed,” said President Mnangagwa.

Dr Mushowe’s national hero status was confirmed yesterday by Zanu PF politburo member Cde Patrick Chinamasa who conveyed President Mnangagwa’s declaration at the Mushowe family home at 12 Nigels Lane, Colne Valley, Borrowdale, Harare last night.

He is survived by wife, Penelope and eight children. ,state media

Mnangagwa Says Ready To Win Polls

GOVERNMENT remains committed to delivering on the hopes and aspirations of all Zimbabweans as evidenced by its programmes that are geared towards ushering in prosperity for all, President Mnangagwa has said.

Transformative development programmes and the demonstrable success in stabilising and growing the economy, he said, have become a rallying point for Zimbabweans, who are increasingly lending their support to the ruling party, ZANU PF, to further accelerate national development.

Addressing delegates in Harare yesterday during the launch of the ruling party’s programme dubbed “Kumusha/Home/Ekhaya”, which is meant to welcome back returnees from other political parties, the President said ZANU PF was “deeply rooted in advancing the will and aspirations of the people”.

Yesterday’s event saw the ruling party embrace members who had defected over the years.

The ZANU PF Government under President Mnangagwa has embarked on an intensive nation-building programme underpinned by initiatives designed to achieve national food security, infrastructure development, job creation and economic growth.

“Our arms remain outstretched to welcome those who want to be members of our party.

“In this regard, those who are still in the opposition are welcome and ZANU PF will continue to facilitate their return home,” said President Mnangagwa.

“This is the unity and love that all structures of the party must preach and demonstrate.

“Not only in the context of our quest to realise five million votes during the upcoming 2023 harmonised elections, but beyond that for entrenching the democracy, national unity and cohesion that has become synonymous with the Second Republic.

“Let us, therefore, celebrate this milestone and recommit ourselves to the realisation of the party’s aims and objectives, as well as the national Vision 2030.”

Current programmes, policies and projects, he said, were premised on addressing the needs, hopes and aspirations of the people.

“The successes our party continues to record in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, tourism, SMEs (small and medium enterprises) and other social service sectors provide ample testimony,” he said.

He described yesterday’s event as historic.

“We remain a national political party, a people’s party deeply rooted in advancing the will and aspirations of the people.

“Hence, this landmark event affords us all an important opportunity to rekindle and connect with the founding principles and enduring history of our country and that of our revolutionary party, ZANU PF,” he added.

“On behalf of our party, I warmly welcome you, my fellow comrades, dear brothers and sisters from across the 10 provinces of our country to your home, ZANU PF, the home of the people’s revolution.”

The returnees were urged to add value to existing party programmes and projects by deploying their skills and knowledge.

“Let us ride on our national character trait as hardworking people and think outside the box to invent and innovate as creative entrepreneurs for increased production and productivity across all sectors of the economy.

“I further call upon you, the new party members, to avail your knowledge, skills and experience while adding value to our people-centred governance mix and ongoing development initiatives.

“Together, let us build a prosperous and empowered Zimbabwe, brick by brick and stone upon stone.”

The President also called for peaceful political campaigns ahead of this year’s elections.

“The forthcoming 2023 harmonised general elections present to the nation an opportunity to exercise that democratic right to vote for competent ZANU PF cadres.

“It is through our revolutionary mass party that the concerns of all our people can be addressed.”

The ruling party, he said, must wrest all local authority and parliamentary seats from the opposition to guarantee a landslide victory.

President Mnangagwa said ZANU PF supporters should continue to adhere to the party’s culture of peace and harmony, adding that this was important for the country’s development.

“ZANU PF says no to violence in whatever form. The party’s culture of love, harmony and tolerance of diverging views must see us consolidating the gains of our peace and unity throughout the election period and beyond.

“This is more pertinent as peace and unity remain fundamental requisites for sustainable socio-economic development.”

Notable members who have recently joined the party include Cde Collins Tsvangirai, the younger brother of the late MDC founder and president Morgan Tsvangirai; and Cde Tongai Matutu, who was the opposition’s former Member of Parliament for Masvingo Urban.

ZANU PF director for Information and Publicity Cde Tafadzwa Mugwadi indicated that close to 5 000 members had recently trooped from the opposition to the ruling party.

A desk has since been established at the party headquarters to welcome back the new members.

Nakamba Marvelous Moment

Nakamba Seeks Redemption

Marvelous Nakamba has revealed that he has been doing extra individual training to help himself get into the shape after spending the first half of the season without playing competitive football.

The Warriors international fell out of favour at Aston Villa and was forced to look for a new home at Championship side Luton Town after failing to get game time.

He made his debut last week, coming from the bench as a second half substitute in the game against Stoke City.

The 29-year-old then received his first start on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against Coventry City.

Speaking after making his full debut, Nakamba told the Luton Town media: “It was my first 90 minutes but I’ve been doing some extra training sessions, the technical staff and the coaches have helped me a lot.

“I’ve been training by myself for some extra training. Physically for me, it is not a problem and when I play, I always give everything.

“I’m thankful to Luton for giving me the chance, I’m very grateful for the chance and I’m looking forward to giving everything for the team.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Pep Drops Bombshell

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has mocked Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard over his infamous slip that cost the Reds the title back in 2014.

The Spanish gaffer made the claims while defending City in the wake of 115 allegations of financial misconduct.

He told reporters on Friday: “The goal from Aguero, when Balotelli slipped? I don’t know if we are responsible for Steven Gerrard slipping at Anfield. Was that our fault? I have respect for Steven Gerrard – but that moment belongs to us.

“The moments that we lived these years together, the Premier League will decide…but I know what we won and the way we won it. I know the effort we put in. If something happened in 2009 or 2010 it is not going to change one second.”

Guardiola also feels other EPL clubs are jealousy of his team’s success and are now ganging up against them.

This followed after several top-flight teams reportedly called for a stiffer penalty against City if they are found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

The clubs also want the Manchester-based side stripped of its league titles won between 2009 and 2018.

He added: “That [jealousy] is part of the sport. When you’re a winning team, and people want to beat you, it’s nice.

“But some teams want to be in Champions League positions for the big stadiums they have built.

“But we have won. If they doubt us, that’s okay. They have their suspicions? That’s okay.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

By-A Bindura man urinated inside his father’s grave after being prevented from opening his father’s coffin at a gravesite.

The situation also happened after violence had broken out at the same place.

The incident was triggered by actions of one of the deceased man’s sons, who opened the coffin at the gravesite, angering some relatives.

Reports said the deceased man’s son, only identified as Diva, opened his father’s coffin amid chants of Ngolo, Ngolo, by some mourners.

Ngolo is reportedly the son’s nickname.

In a video circulating on social media, Diva opened the coffin, but failed to remove the cloth covering his late father’s face.

Health Experts Discredit Formula Milk

Rights Group Challenges Authorities To Stop Waste Disposition Along Tokwe River

By A Correspondent

A Masvingo rights Group has lamented the rampant water pollution in Mashava which has been attributed to the upsurge in both legal and illegal mining activities in the area since the discovery of gold along the banks of the Tokwe River and the surrounding areas .

The activities are taking place near the now defunct Gaths Mine.

The ever-increasing gold prospecting and mining activities in the Mashava area along the gold belt that begins at the defunct Gaths mine in Mashava running along the Tokwe River pose risks to local residents.

These mining activities are taking place adjacent the Masvingo-Mashava highway close to Tokwe River a tributary to the recently constructed Tokwe-Mukosi dam.

The illegal gold mining activities conducted by unlicensed artisanal miners do not follow the safe mining regulations as stipulated by the Environmental Management Agency since there is no regulation or government supervision of these mining activities.

The illegal artisanal miners are dumping mining waste into the Tokwe River which include mercury, cyanide, arsenic, lead and mercury. These inorganic pollutants have negatively affected water quality for the rural communities dependent on the Tokwe River for their survival.

Thus, the water for household consumption is now polluted and unsafe for drinking even after traditional water purification since the pollutants are inorganic.

This has significantly increased the distance walked by women to fetch water from community boreholes which remain very few presently thus increasing the time they spend fetching water.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a local resident said : ” We are facing the risk of contracting cancerous diseases as a result of pollution.

Something must be done before it’s too late. Authorities have to take action as a matter of urgency.”

Sustainable fishing projects face a potential decline in production as the aqua-life project’s survival is under threat and likely prejudicing the livelihoods of more than 100 households.

Communities along the river bank also depend on the river water for their livestock’s consumption and there is potential long term effects of mercury, arsenic, cyanide and lead poisoning of livestock most importantly cattle which remain a traditional store of wealth for most rural communities.

The situation is being exacerbated by the recently constructed Zimbabwe Zhongxin Chrome Smelting Company which will likely be dumping carcinogenic waste into the Tokwe River.

These wastes will expose women and girls dependent on the river for drinking water, household use and fishing to cancers and other health hazards associated with heavy metal poisoning.

Communities in Mashava and the Rights group are urging the Government of Zimbabwe to consider the plight of the people in Mashava and to ensure that the environment is conserved for many generations to come.

Draft Or Final: Confusion Over ZEC Delimitation Report

A raging row pitting Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) boss Justice Priscilla Chigumba and President Emmerson Mnangagwa over delimitation enters a critical week on Monday.

ZimLive has heard fresh details of Chigumba’s February 3 meeting when she presented Mnangagwa with what she called her final report on the delimitation of ward and constituency boundaries ahead of elections in August.

There has been confusion since, with official government spokesmen insisting that Chigumba had only presented a second draft, and not the final delimitation report.

Now, we can reveal the mistrust and tense exchanges between Mnangagwa and Chigumba which has left the country on the cusp of a constitutional crisis.

Mnangagwa and his allies have been suspicious of Chigumba after a preliminary delimitation report, in their view, undermined Zanu-PF’s chances of a sweeping majority in parliament and left nearly a dozen of the Zanu-PF leader’s loyalist MPs in the cold following the dissolution of their constituencies.

A source briefed on Mnangagwa and Chigumba’s February 3 meeting revealed: “When Chigumba went to present her final delimitation report and her comments on earlier submissions by parliament and the president, Mnangagwa was first taken aback by the presence of journalists who had been invited to witness the handover of the final delimitation report.

“Mnangagwa told Chigumba that ‘this report is not final’. He further informed her that he would study what she had presented and make further comments which would be ready by February 13.

“The president’s expectation, therefore, is that Chigumba will return on Monday and pick up his further comments before she wraps up her delimitation report. On the other side, however, Chigumba stated after leaving the same meeting that she presented her final report which she said Mnangagwa should publish in the government gazette within 14 days, which sets a deadline of February 17.”

The source said if Chigumba does meet Mnangagwa on Monday, that would be a suggestion that she is still open to amending her delimitation report – a development likely to trigger protests from the Zanu-PF leader’s rivals.

“The other side of viewing it is that if she doesn’t (got to the meeting), then you can safely conclude that she stands by her February 3 report and the deadline of February 17 for its gazetting has not changed. That would be clear and open defiance of Mnangagwa, quite unprecedented between the head of a constitutional body and the state president,” the source said.

Lawyers have been united in their analysis that Chigumba has submitted her final report, based on constitutional provisions she cited as she handed Mnangagwa the final report. Some warn of an impending constitutional crisis, with ZEC itself split after seven of the nine commissioners rejected the reports submitted by Chigumba to Mnangagwa on behalf of the elections body.

Leading constitutional law expert Professor Lovemore Madhuku told ZimLive: “”There is a problem relating to what it is that ZEC can give to the president. It must give to the president a final report. The constitution does not have provisions for anything else after ZEC has received comments to its preliminary report.

“Its next interaction with the president is final, that is what the constitution contemplates. As we stand now, there are now two versions: the ZEC chairperson says she gave the president a final report which would mean that the president must now go to the next stage within 14 days and gazette that.

“But the president’s office says that they have not yet received the final report. They have received what they are calling a revised preliminary delimitation report. I must make it clear that there is no provision for what is called a revised preliminary report.

Scott Sakupwanya’s Redwing Mine Claimed 100 Lives Since 2020

Zanu PF benefactor and prominent gold dealer Pedzisai Scott Sakupwanya’s gold operations at Redwing Mine in Penhalonga, Manicaland province, have been closed by the Environmental Management Agency (Ema) following reports of numerous fatal accidents involving artisanal miners.

Sakupwanya through his company Better Brands Mining has been defying Ema’s directive to stop operations until civic groups threatened to picket at the mine.

In a joint statement yesterday, the Centre for Research and Development (CRD), Ziva Community Empowerment Trust, and Penhalonga Youth Development RatepayersTrust claimed  that 100 artisanal have died at Sakupwanya’s mine since 2020.

Sakupwanya is a key Zanu PF member and is expected to finance the ruling party’s 2023 election campaign.

He has also been previously pictured with President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House.

Sakupwanya has become the biggest gold dealer in the country amid reports that he was using his close links with the First Family.

He is also the ruling party’s councillor for Mabvuku-Tafara in Harare.

NewsDay is in possession of a letter written by Better Brands dated January 20, 2023, confirming the company’s decision to halt operations in compliance with Ema’s directives.

“Better Brands hereby advises its valued stakeholders that all surface mining operations shall be suspended with immediate effect due to the concerns about the increased number of fatalities, and environmental degradation.

“Better Brands Mining shall take this opportunity to restructure and rehabilitate the mining field in preparation for the resumption of surface and underground mining,” the letter read.

But CRD director James Mupfumi said the temporary stoppage was meant to hoodwink the world into believing that Sakupwanya respects the rule of law.

“It is a temporary ban meant to fool the country from demanding accountability. It has happened twice with lies on promises to return to safe mining practices. We are approaching the government and Parliament to summon Better Brands.

“If the government fails to heed our call, we are approaching the United Nations (UN) human rights to express our concern on government’s failure to protect citizens from militia mining that is taking place at Redwing Mine. Zimbabwe is a signatory to the UN on the sanctity of human life and government protection,” Mupfumi said.

Businesswoman In Court For Stealing US$45 000

A local businesswoman and chairperson of Venergia Hydro which trades as DFI Group Zimbabwe, appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court after she allegedly duped a garage owner of US$45 000.

The complainant is Tarisai Muzota, the director for TB Fuels based in Guruve.

Allegations are that in November last year, the accused was introduced to the complainant by Tafadzwa Mhlanga, a truck driver as a supplier of fuel.

The complainant engaged the accused to procure 50 000 litres of diesel from Beira, Mozambique, and move it to Zimbabwe and was charged US$45 000, with delivery expected in 48 hours.

She has since failed to deliver the fuel, leading to Muzota making a police report.

Take Their Seats, Mnangagwa Tells Zanu PF Candidates

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged his Zanu-PF party to wrest local authority and parliamentary seats from the opposition as he welcomed the late Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s brother, Collins, to the party in Harare.

The event was themed Huyai Kumusha, Come Home, Buyani Ekhaya, Muze Kumuzi: We heard the call. We voluntarily came, Adding Value to Nation Building.

The ruling party and the opposition often trade blame for the collapse and poor service delivery in urban councils.

Zanu-PF often says the opposition has no clue how to develop councils, while opposition councillors cite lack of funding from government, sabotage and central government’s interference in council affairs.

Speaking with the new party members at the Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday, Mnangagwa said general elections in July would be an opportunity to vote for “competent’ Zanu-PF cadres.

“It’s through our revolutionary mass party that the concerns of our people can be addressed. We must take back the local authority and parliamentary seats which are in the hands of the opposition,” he said.

“We remain a national political party, a people’s party deeply rooted in advancing the will and aspirations of the people. The party remains a dominant and popular force, which is forever committed to wholeheartedly serve.”

Political analyst Effie Ncube told NewsDay that Tsvangirai’s gesture was insignificant.

“This doesn’t mean much and it’s unlikely that any of them has a significant following to tilt the wider electoral scales across the country. However, it is not good optics for the opposition,” he said.

“They should address what is causing some people to lose faith in the change agenda. Every person matters. For the ruling party, this is a propaganda bonus that it will use to the fullest extent. So is politics. You take advantage of small setbacks on your opponent and sound the horn.”

By- Zambia has ended power cuts at a time when its neighbour, Zimbabwe, is having countless hours of darkness.

Zambia’s power utility, the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (ZESCO), announced at the weekend.
ZESCO Managing Director Victor Mapani told the state media that the country would no longer experience load-shedding.

He said households and companies countrywide will now enjoy 24 hours of power supply without disruptions.
Mapani said this comes after ZESCO restored and upgraded power generation at various power stations in the country.

He said ZESCO has also upgraded power generation at Kafue Gorge Upper and Lower Power Stations by over 150 megawatts.

Zambia also plans to begin the importation of about 120 megawatts from Mozambique, Mapani further revealed.

Everton Face Struggling Reds

Everton coach Sean Dyche has claimed that he does not sympathise with his Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp, who is under pressure to deliver positive results.

The Reds have been struggling to remain consistent this season as they dropped to tenth place on the EPL table and were recently knocked out of the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Dyche, who took over at the Toffees in late January, started his reign with a win over leaders Arsenal last week.

Speaking ahead of their Premier League meeting on Monday, the Everton boss said he has been too busy to have any consideration for Liverpool’s current struggles but does have empathy for the German coach.

“My focus is on Everton, making sure we are right without worrying about anyone else,” he said.

“There is no sympathy (for Klopp), it is empathy. As a manager you have an understanding of others but he certainly doesn’t need my sympathy, someone as experienced as him and what he has done in the game.

“I have total respect for all managers because it is a very difficult job. There is an understanding and a shared feeling as I’ve been through it myself.”

Dyche added: “They have been pretty much on the up for a long time and it is difficult to constantly remodel and rethink.

“The way football works is very difficult to constantly keep achieving all the time. Maybe they are just having one of those spells and it changes. It is yet to be seen.

“I’ve not been up close and personal with them but they still have some very good players and I won’t be over-thinking their form.

“They are a very experienced group in many ways and the manager is. That has to be parked.

“They are having a tough little spell but it is rare that teams don’t have that at some point over a long tenure like Jurgen Klopp’s.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Real Madrid Triumph

Real Madrid were crowned champions of the world once again, following a 5-3 win over Al-Hilal in the final of the Club World Cup.

The match ultimately got much closer than was expected but the victory is what matters in this game. It was another piece of silverware for Los Blancos and took a lot of the pressure off of Carlo Ancelotti’s shoulders.

Real Madrid had three different goalscorers on the day. Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde scored a brace each, while Karim Benzema, who was not even expected to participate in the tournament, got himself a goal as well.

Al-Hilal gave a good showing of themselves going forward, scoring from all three of their shots on target. Ultimately though, Real Madrid just proved to be a bit too much for them.

To be honest, Real Madrid were expected to win the Club World Cup. But Ancelotti’s side will come out of the tournament with an even bigger boost.

Real Madrid win Club World Cup but handed even bigger boost
Going into the Club World Cup, Real Madrid had not been in good form. In fact, they were struggling and had fallen eight points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race.

Not only will winning the Club World Cup come as a boost for Real Madrid, but it looks like two of their most vital players, Vinicius and Valverde, have rediscovered their form as well. That is brilliant news for Ancelotti’s side.

When Real Madrid were on a great run of form earlier in the season, Vinicius and Valverde were the two who were performing at the very top level. And if they can show that moving forward as well, there is every chance in the world that Los Blancos could get their campaign back on track and make a run for all three major trophies.

Valverde had scored once against Al Ahly and then got himself a brace vs Al-Hilal. On the other hand, Vinicius had also found the back of the net in the semis, and the Brazilian winger scored twice and also provided an assist in the final.-

One of the most hardworking and incarcerated ‘global class’ organiser, honourable Amos Chibaya will be the key speaker at CCC Chivi rally, which will be held at Chivi Growth point grounds at 10am.
This rally was cleared by the police.

Zanu-PF created fake poster with a message that Chivi rally has been canceled, said Mr Chadaushe.

The Chivi rally is processeding as advertised.

In Bikita, the fearless and charismatic CCC vice president Mrs Karen Kore will be the main speaker. The rally will be held at Janet Business Centre Pamukamba.

Lastly, in Chiredzi, the diligent honourable Mugidho will be the major speaker at Chiredzi rally today.

Overall, these cluster rallies are done to encourage people to register to vote, to boost CCC visibility, publicize CCC policies and advance the party.

CCC National Organiser Amos Chibaya said that “we are encouraging all CCC champions to attend these rallies in large numbers. It’s a yellow Sunday. Let us show Zanu PF and the world at large, that CCC under President Chamisa is the popular party ready to govern in 2023.”

In fear, Zanu PF instructed police to ban 23 Masvingo CCC rallies that were supposed to be held today.

Police and Zanu PF are treating CCC as a banned political party in Zimbabwe.

Social and political commentor Dr. Munyaradzi Chidarikire said: “Zimbabwe is now in a season of 2023 harmonized elections, therefore all parties must be allowed to campaign and mobilizing their supporters. In 2023, we need free and fair elections. Police should not ban Citizens Coalition for Change members who want to campaign.”

Zanu-PF is afraid to lose elections to the yellow movement under the leadership of charismatic and popular President Nelson Chamisa.

On another story, police brutality escalated in Bikita. According to CCC spokesperson advocate Fadzayi Mahere, “we have received a report that a lorry of 63 Citizens who have been mobilized to register to vote by change champion John Mupanduki was impounded by Police Zimbabwe. The 63 are detained at Nyika Police Base. Our peace teams have been deployed to secure their release.”

Mnangagwa Reaches Out To Tyson

By Peter Chiwenga| As Zimbabwe prepares for its next election, President Mnangagwa’s tactics to secure re-election have come into question. According to sources close to the situation, the president has deployed emissaries to recruit and buy support from former Saviour Kasukuwere supporters.

The emissaries are led by former Mp Maduza and former Mp Mashange, two former loyalists of Kasukuwere who have since been given money to sell him out.

Kasukuwere poses a major threat to President Mnangagwa’s re-election, as he is widely seen as the best candidate for the future of Zimbabwe.

With a strong track record of public service and a commitment to making Zimbabwe a better place, Kasukuwere has the potential to lead the country in a new direction. His charismatic personality and ability to connect with the people have made him a popular figure in Zimbabwe, and his popularity continues to grow.

The deployment of emissaries by President Mnangagwa is seen as a clear indication of his fear of losing the election. By buying the loyalty of former Kasukuwere supporters, the president is attempting to secure their votes and ensure his re-election. However, these tactics have not gone unnoticed by the public, who view them as a clear attempt to manipulate the election outcome.

The deployment of emissaries has raised concerns about the fairness of the upcoming election. Many believe that the president is using these tactics to undermine the democratic process and ensure his re-election. The potential consequences of these actions could be devastating for Zimbabwe, as they could undermine the public’s faith in the electoral process and create further political instability.

It is important to note that Zimbabwe’s future depends on a free and fair election, and it is the responsibility of all parties involved to ensure that this happens. The deployment of emissaries by President Mnangagwa is a clear indication that he is not confident in his ability to win the election on his own merit, and that he is resorting to underhanded tactics to secure re-election.

In conclusion, the deployment of emissaries by President Mnangagwa raises serious questions about the fairness of the upcoming election in Zimbabwe. The public deserves a free and fair election, and it is the responsibility of all parties involved to ensure that this happens. With a strong candidate like Saviour Kasukuwere, Zimbabwe has the potential to move in a new direction and secure a brighter future.- Peter Chiwenga

Magistrate Roasts Madzibaba Over Demanding Dead Snake

TWO Kuwadzana Phase 3 Johanne Masowe eChishanu prophets have appeared in court following an altercation over a snake.

Madzibaba Matthew Matenga went to court seeking a protection order against his rival, Madzibaba Tongai Mandere, accusing him of insulting and threatening him.

Madzibaba Matthew also told the court that he was bashed in front of his congregants.

“He assaulted me with a stick in front of my church members, accusing me of prophesying illness in his family and calling out his family members’ names.

“He is also going around telling people that I am mentally ill and that I am not a true prophet,” said Madzibaba Matthew.

Madzibaba Tongai opposed the application saying he only approached him inquiring about a snake he killed at his (Madzibaba Tongai) shrine.

“I heard that he had killed a snake at my shrine and went to ask him where he put the snake.

“I did not assault him. I went to the community leaders and they said to me, ‘hauzivi here kuti Matenga anopenga’.”

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi asked Madzibaba Tongai what he wanted to do with the snake.

“Did you want to eat it,” the magistrate asked.

“We are worshippers and people want to know about the snake,” said Madzibaba Tongai.

Magistrate Chibindi dismissed the application and told Madzibaba Matthew that he should have reported the assault to the police.

Govt Starts Charging for Borehole Water

Your Excellency Sir

You saved the lives of Zimbabweans during the COVID-19 you did everything you could to make sure that Zimbabweans could outlive the pandemic. We now have another crisis that needs your leadership Sir. The freedom fighter went to war to liberate the people of Zimbabwe. Are the people liberated when they live in a country where the citizens are punished for drilling boreholes so that they have access to water. Your excellency Sir you identified the need for people to have access to water and now have launched, “President Launches Borehole Drilling Scheme” which is a very popular scheme with the citizens. ZINWA and other water authorities are on a nationwide program demanding payments for drilled borehole permits and other payments.Your Excellency Sir, I would like to advise you that all the old and new households do not even have a single under pipe that is required to provide water to the residents. Sir this is a national emergency and a national disaster that needs your 100% attention. Our people cannot be punished for a service that should be provided by the local authorities and the government.

Surely, how do you expect the citizens of this country to survive without water and to further punish them by asking for payments in USD is just a travesty. In Zimbabwe, almost half the country lives without access to safe water and they do not have access to proper toilet facilities.Residents of the country have always faced water crisis and there is a possible outbreak of the deadly cholera. It is the role of Zimbabwe’s Central Government and the local council to ensure that every resident has access to clean water and ZINWA is now visiting areas that do have piped water and demanding payments from the residents instead of demanding payments from the local authority that is not providing residents water.

The government of Zimbabwe should scrap these unnecessary water charges  and demand that all Zimbabwe’s local authorities provide piped water for its urban and rural residents. And in areas where they do not provide water and the local authorities should not charge residents a penny.

To make matters worse, Your Excellency it is now public knowledge that the citizens of Zimbabwe are now required to licence their generators and are being fined for operating a generator without a licence. This is a country that is struggling to provide electricity and energy to its citizens. Why should we punish our citizens for our institute failures?

Surely a leader at heart is there to protect his citizens. This is the time we should immediately introduce those SI that protect our countrymen and women from exploitation and implement policies that were introduced during the COVID pandemic.

Once again your Excellency Sir show that you care about our well-being and scrap these laws using your Executive Presidency powers and empower the people of Zimbabwe to just survive.

Regards

No Sympathy For Klopp, Declares Everton Boss
