D-Mbare , Bosso Match Ends In Chaos

By- The match between Dynamos and Highlanders was abandoned after violence had broken out.

The match was being played at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

The high stakes match was disrupted by crowd trouble on two separate occasions in the second half.

The first lengthy stoppage, which lasted for 15 minutes, occurred in the 60th minute when Dynamos striker Bill Antonio’s challenge left Andrew Tandi with a broken leg.

Despite Antonio being shown a straight red card, players and officials from both sides clashed following the tackle.

The second stoppage occurred when Highlanders took the lead in the 93rd minute through Washington Navaya’s header.

Bosso fans stormed the pitch to celebrate the goal while Dynamos players surrounded the referee, protesting his decision to allow the goal.

Dynamos players were arguing that Shadreck Nyahwa and goalkeeper Timon Mvula were fouled during the build-up to the goal.

As the melee unfolded on the pitch, DeMbare fans invaded the pitch, uprooting the goalposts and tearing the nets.

Speaking during ZTN’s coverage of the game, former CAPS United captain David Sengu blamed Dynamos players for causing the chaos. Said Sengu:

Do we need to be known because of violence whenever these two sides meet?

They were playing entertaining football, but the fans will make the headlines more than the players on the pitch at the end of the day.

The players are to blame for these incidents because they are the ones who are causing the chaos.

The moment you start confronting the referee, the fans get agitated. If it’s not a foul, you should admit it.

If there is no whistle blown, continue to play football.

Sengu added that both Nyahwa and Dynamos goalkeeper Taimon Mvula were wrong to claim they were injured in the build-up to the Highlanders goal. He said:

The goalkeeper has the advantage of using his hands. Mvula never tried to catch the ball because he wanted a foul.

Why did Nyahwa remain on the floor (after losing the ball) when the referee didn’t blow his whistle?

When Highlanders scored their goal, he quickly rose and protested to the referee.

I thought he should have stood up, continued playing, and do the confrontation later.

Captain Jaure is the one who should talk to the referee, not any other players, but you can’t complain about every decision made.

Mnangagwa Plot To Hoodwink Chiefs Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri|President Nelson Chamisa’s CCC has accused Mr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of hoodwinking traditional leaders with trinkets.

Zanu PF is known for using traditional leaders to intimidate villagers.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has challenged Mr Mnangagwa to stop abusing traditional leaders.

See below article published by NewsDay:

The opposition Citizens Coalition Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, yesterday accused ZANU PF of trying to buy the loyalty of traditional leaders ahead of the 2023 general elections.

This comes as the government is planning to review traditional leaders’ allowances, put them on medical aid, service their vehicles and allocate them fuel, to cushion them against economic turbulences.

CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, accused the ruling party of trying to bribe chiefs. She said:

We condemn this brazen attempt to buy the loyalty of chiefs with trinkets. We respect the role and importance of traditional leaders but we are opposed to them being used to participate in partisan politics.

Traditional leaders must be non-partisan and put the interests of the citizens they lead ahead of any partisan agenda.

Chapter 15.2 of the Constitution forbids traditional leaders from being members of any political party or in any way participating in partisan politics.

Traditional leaders have faced accusations of being ZANU PF appendages with Chiefs Council president Fortune Charumbira openly declaring his allegiance to the ruling party.

But Zanu PF director of information Tafadzwa Mugwadi said the ruling party does not believe in bribing people to vote for it adding, “Our secret to victory is servant leadership and development.”

Last year, Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga warned chiefs that they risked being stripped of their positions for criticising the ZANU PF government.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure said the government should also show the same zeal to improve the welfare of civil servants.

Citizens Need To Be Rescued From Zanu PF Oppression

Remember the Oppressed!

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

Our struggle is against a historically evolved system of oppression, that holds our people in bondage, for the benefit of a small minority( that is the capitalist minority and the reactionary forces of the middle class)
That is what we are up against!

Our task is to create a society that works for the many, not the few.

To have a society that provides a conducive environment for the poor to thrive.

A society where talent and skill pays and not connections and privilege.

A society that places the citizen back at the centre of decision making.

Now that society requires a committed, genuine and authentic leadership.

It needs reformers, doers and selfless compatriots motivated by the agenda to see genuine change in our country.

Our people have suffered far too long.

I have no doubt in my mind that President Nelson Chamisa has passed the test of such leadership.

Now the task in our shoulders is to build such leadership qualities and culture from below.

Happy weekend fellow countrymen.

Effective Malaria Control Methods

As World Malaria Day approaches, more than 1 million children in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi have received one or more doses of the world’s first malaria vaccine, thanks to a pilot programme coordinated by WHO. The malaria vaccine pilots, first launched by the Government of Malawi in April 2019, have shown that the RTS,S/AS01 (RTS,S) vaccine is safe and feasible to deliver, and that it substantially reduces deadly severe malaria.

These findings paved the way for the historic October 2021 WHO recommendation for the expanded use of RTS,S among children living in settings with moderate to high malaria transmission. If widely deployed, WHO estimates that the vaccine could save the lives of an additional 40 000 to 80 000 African children each year.

More than US$ 155 million has been secured from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to support the introduction, procurement and delivery of the malaria vaccine for Gavi-eligible countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

WHO guidance is available to countries as they consider whether and how to adopt RTS,S as an additional tool to reduce child illness and deaths from malaria.

“As a malaria researcher in my early career, I dreamed of the day we would have an effective vaccine against this devastating disease,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “This vaccine is not just a scientific breakthrough, it’s life-changing for families across Africa. It demonstrates the power of science and innovation for health. Even so, there is an urgent need to develop more and better tools to save lives and drive progress towards a malaria-free world.”

Prospects for new interventions
RTS,S is a first-generation vaccine that could be complemented in the future by other vaccines with similar or higher efficacy. WHO welcomes progress in the development of R21/Matrix-M and other malaria vaccine candidates in early clinical development. The successful completion of clinical trials for these vaccines will be important to assess their safety and efficacy profiles. WHO also welcomes the news from BioNTech, manufacturer of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, that it aims to develop a malaria vaccine using mRNA technology.

In the field of vector control, a number of new tools and technologies have been submitted to WHO for evaluation. Should they demonstrate efficacy in controlling the disease, WHO will formulate new recommendations or amend existing ones to support their deployment. These include, for example, new types of insecticide-treated nets, spatial mosquito repellents, gene-drive approaches and sugar baits designed to attract and kill Anopheles mosquitoes.

There are also new medicines in the pipeline. WHO welcomes the recent approval by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration of dispersible tablets of single-dose tafenoquine for the prevention of P. vivax malaria among children. Tafenoquine has also been approved for use in adults by the US Federal Drug Administration and by drug regulatory bodies in other countries, including Brazil, Peru and Thailand. As a single dose, tafenoquine is expected to support patient adherence to treatment. The current standard of care requires a 7- or 14-day course of medication.

A number other antimalarial medicines with new modes of action are being developed for the treatment of uncomplicated and severe malaria. Ganaplacide-Lumefantrine, currently in a Phase II clinical trial, is the first non-artemisinin combination therapy and could be an asset in fight against emerging drug-resistant malaria in Africa.

In addition to drug resistance, WHO has reported other pressing threats in the fight against malaria, such as mosquito resistance to insecticides, an invasive malaria vector that thrives in urban and rural areas, and the emergence and spread of mutated P. falciparum parasites that are undermining the effectiveness of rapid diagnostic tests. Innovation in tools and strategies will be critical to contain these threats, together with a more strategic use of the tools that are available today.

More investment needed
According to the 2021 World malaria report, global progress in reducing malaria cases and deaths has slowed or stalled in recent years, particularly in countries hardest hit by the disease. The report notes the need for continued innovation in the research and development of new tools if the world is to achieve the 2030 targets of the WHO malaria strategy.

Funding for malaria-related research and development reached just over US$ 619 million in 2020. An average annual R&D investment of US$ 851 million will be needed in the period 2021–2030.

Making better use of the tools we have now
Reaching global malaria targets will also require innovations in the way that currently available tools are deployed. Through the “ High burden to high impact” approach, launched by WHO and the RBM Partnership to End Malaria in 2018, countries hardest hit by malaria have been collecting and analysing malaria data to better understand the geographical spread of the disease.

Instead of applying the same approach to malaria control everywhere, they are considering the potential impact of tailored packages of interventions informed by local data and the local disease setting.

These analyses will enable countries to use available funds in a more effective, efficient and equitable way.

Al Jazeera Reporter Funeral Procession Attacked

EFF CONDEMNS THE INHUMANE ISRAEL APARTHEID STATE FOR ATTACKING THE FUNERAL PROCESSION OF AL JAZEERA JOURNALIST SHEREEN ABU AQLA

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) condemns the sadistic, cruel. and genocidal Israeli Apartheid State, for attacking the funeral procession of Al Jazeera journalist Shereen Abu Aqla, who they assassinated for her uncompromising coverage of the oppression of Palestinian people.

In a complete disregard of the memory of Abu Acila. and a display of the evil nature of the Israeli forces, Palestinians who were carrying the coffin of Shereen Aqla were beaten with batons. to the point of almost dropping her lifeless body to the floor.

The Israeli State is a sick, fascist and inhumane regime, whose actions are beginning to eclipse even those of the Apartheid state.
The patience that the world has with the brutality of Israel has led these Zionist maniacs to believe they are untouchable. to the point where they no longer care about the public image of a peaceful state they have been trying to push for decades of their illegal occupation of Palestinian land.

The EFF calls for South Africa to expel the Israeli ambassador and permanently close the Israeli embassy for this heinous act. It is clear we are dealing with an evil regime which is beyond negotiation or amicable solutions.

The Israeli State must be isolated, deprived of economic relations with the rest of the world, and subjected to the sanctions that are so easily imposed on socialist countries The continued silence of the United Nations. African Union and the so-called liberal press in the face of the murder of journalists and the beating up of people in mosques and funerals is shameful.

Israel is an evil state, which must be destroyed as a matter of urgency! History will judge us all, should we allow the cruelty of Israel to continue without intervention and condemnation.

Elephants Kill 35

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZIMPARKS) has reported that a man was killed by an elephant in Victoria Falls last night.

ZIMPARKS spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo, made the announcement this Saturday encouraging members of the public to minimise movements during the night. He said:

It is with great sadness that a man was killed by an elephant in Vic Falls last night. So far 35 people have been killed in Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) across the country. ZIMPARKS encourages communities to minimize movements at night, do not provoke them, and give them space.

He added that 35 people have been killed in HWC this year while more than 60 people were killed last year.

Early this week, two elephants that had been found loitering in Chiteni Village under Chief Ndanga, Zaka, were shot and killed by the Zimparks after villagers reported the matter to the police. The meat was given to the villagers, according to Information Secretary, Nick Mangwana.

Scott Sakupwanya Throws ED’s ‘Bloody Scarf’ Around Floyd Mayweather’s Neck

Emmerson Mnangagwa ‘s gold runner, Scott Sakupwanya has flung the murder obsessed despot’s scarf around world boxer Floyd Mayweather’s neck, before luring him to Zimbabwe to look for so called business opportunities.

Mayweather Jr is now expected to visit the country for investment opportunities, the Herald speculates.

Scott with Floyd Mayweather

Mr Mnangagwa’s agents have for years since the Nov 2017 coup earned a bad name for abusing well known celebrities for the purpose of creating political photoshoots.

At the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Nov 2021, Mnangagwa’s agents were caught on camera coercing Scottish homeless people to wear the ZANU PF scarf, just for picture shows.

The American boxer met the Zanu-PF Harare Ward 21 councillor over the weekend in Dubai where he is on business, the Herald reports.

Mayweather was with his former sparring partner Don Moore and were scheduled for their exhibition fight which was later cancelled last minute following the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates.

Mayweather was due to face Moore in front of just 20 VIP fans on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel in Dubai, on Saturday.

The contest would have marked Mayweather’s third exhibition fight since retiring from professional boxing in 2017.

Following the death of Sheikh Khalifa, the UAE will observe 40 days of mourning – beginning last week Friday – with all work in the country’s public and private sectors cancelled for the first three days of that period.

Yesterday the social media went agog with images and videos of Sakupwanya with the boxing celebrities. Sakupwanya confirmed that he was in Dubai for a series of meetings with potential investors.

“I am here on a business trip to interact with various investors and particularly on a special invitation by Floyd Mayweather himself to watch his boxing match,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the match was cancelled and now we are busy with business. We have been close friends for a long time and I came to finalize my official appointment as his brand ambassador for Africa.

“I have invited him and he agreed to visit Zimbabwe hopefully before the end of the year. He intends to invest in Africa with Zimbabwe being one of his main destinations of interest,” he said.

Violence Rocks D-Mbare , Bosso Match

Responding To Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Blackmail Claim | FULL TEXT

By Simba Chikanza | A story was published in the state run Herald newspaper in which Emmerson Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia made allegations against my work.

Simba Chikanza

I respond to her allegations in the following briefer:

For the record: this was NOT an off record, in fact the FL called me via video herself on the official newsdesk phone.
2ndly, she broke trust by threatening me during the interview.

Auxillia Mnangagwa’s press statement

3rdly, there has never been any trust between her and the media since the coup, no one has ever been allowed to critique her.

4thly, I did not threaten Mrs Auxillia Mnangagwa other than informing her of what is inevitable, as it is standard practice to notify a source of the deadline before a story is published so they can ensure they have contributed fully. Unfortunately Twitter character space doesn’t allow for all these words to be typed.

5thly, Mrs Mnangagwa knows well the issues at stake are beyond the single one that she cites. They, as the video reveal, also relate to one of armed robbers she has deployed to strategic national positions which placings now endanger the security of millions of Zimbabweans.

6thly, Mrs Mnangagwa also knowing well that the matter at stake is the ongoing looting of millions of USD’s of Harare ratepayer money, is just being unprofessional and I contend, downright criminal

7thly, my mention of Auxillia’s house was no threat but just a stating of the conclusions the public will reach when they notice that her claim that she ‘sells tomatoes for a living’, totally contradicts the 24 karat golden chair she is sitting on. The video shows jewellery and other expensive things in the interior of the house, which thing threatens her image as an honest person. I follow the rule that you have to seek to protect your source’s dignity and wellbeing, before your own.

Citizens Have Suffered For Too Long

Serima Area Rocked By Grisly Murder Cases

Thusanani Oryx

Gutu-Murder cases are escalating in Gutu West constituency the latest victim being Rutendo Chikwinya from ward 6 headman Jinjika in Chikerema village.

Only identified as Perai reportedly told his relatives that he was going to Chatsworth Police station to report that he had killed Rutendo before eloping.

It is alleged that her father killed her in cold blood in the act of disciplining her.

Girl was at Bath Secondary, and she was rescuing her mother who was beaten by her father.

The father allegedly chased the girl assaulted her to death.

Sources said he noticed that the child had died and asked his wife to help him carry the deceased into the kitchen.

This gruesome incident comes barely months when Chiriga community witnessed another murder case still in the courts.
As that was not enough, another Form 4 from Kanongovere High School was reportedly killed by her grandmother in the disguise of disciplining her.
Ironically, most of the perpetrators of these murders are elderly people some over 80 years old on teenagers.
Social media platforms have been awash with villagers from the area expressing shock.
“The murderer deserves to be incarcerated at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
“For sure ZR Police are having a torrid time attending to murder cases in this area” said angry villagers.

Married Man Flees After Steamy Homosexual Romp Pics Leak On Social Media

By A Correspondent| Tungamirai Matongo (27), a man from Waterfalls in Harare allegedly went into hiding recently after intimate pictures of him and another man Nigel Mabhiza Chihobvu (29) leaked on social media.

The two stayed in the same neighbourhood of Waterfalls and Matongo is legally married to Tatenda Zuze (25).

It is suspected that the two have been dating clandestinely ever-since Matongo’s legal wife Zuze went to study abroad up until their steamy pictures surfaced online.

In some of the pics, there two can be seen frolicking naked, wearing wigs and high heels as well as other women range of lingerie.

Now, fellow residents of Waterfalls have not taken this lightly and they have recruited the family of Matongo’s alleged boyfriend Mabhiza Chihobvu to administer street justice to Matongo.

Our source says they group says it wants to remove the homosexuality in him (Matongo).

On Friday the 13th of May around the 6th hour of the night, the community vigilante group is said to have gone to Matongo’s place to institute what it termed as remedial action to Tungamirai.

The alert Matongo got wind of the plot, but it was a bit too late as he was severely beaten but managed to escape.

It is said sympathisers momentarily gave embattled Matongo sanctuary, but the vigilante group is not yet done with him.

The group is accusing Matongo of recruiting men into homosexuality as he did with Chihobvu and they have declared him a societal undesirable element.

Matongo’s story is not unusual.

Strict laws against homosexuality are embraced by Zimbabwe.

The country’s long-time hardman the late Robert Mugabe, infamously once compared gays to pigs and dogs.

During a 2015 speech at the U.N. Genral Assembly, he lashed out at the world body for trying to force gay rights reforms on Zimbabwe.

A 2006 revision to the country’s criminal code expands the penalty for sodomy to include acts that “would be regarded by a reasonable person as an indecent act.”

This could include two men holding hands, hugging, or kissing and could carry an extended prison term.

And Zimbabwe is not alone.

Homosexuality is outlawed in 35 African countries and punishable by death in two countries, Mauritania, and Sudan, as well as in areas of Somalia and Nigeria and Uganda according to Amnesty International U.K.

Mnangagwa Torments Musengezi

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF man Sybeth Musengezi who is challenging Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s legitimacy has been hauled to court for allegedly acquiring a party card fraudulently.

Musengezi argues Mr Mnangagwa illegally rose to power following the removal of Robert Mugabe from power via a military coup.

According to a NewsDay report Musengezi, a former Zanu PF youth league member, appeared in court on Friday.

See NewsDay article below:
…Represented by Doug Coltart and Nqobani Sithole, Sybeth Musengezi appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda and was remanded in custody to today for bail hearing.

The State said Musengezi used various addresses to fraudulently obtain a Zanu PF card and contest the party’s elections.

“The other address which the accused submitted did not exist. There is another address in Budiriro which the accused used, but it was confirmed that the accused did not reside there,” the State submitted.

“Musengezi’s homestead in Mt Darwin was another address which was used and following investigations we discovered that the accused never resided there….”

There are six witnesses in the case, the State said.

The State averred that Musengezi was a bad candidate for bail because he had business interests outside the country and was likely to flee.

The court alleges that on a date yet to be established in 2012, Musengezi acting in common purpose with Allen Chisuko and Taurai Mutimbanyoka misrepresented to Zanu PF that he resided at House Number 4315 Hatcliffe Extension, Harare in order to become a member of the party’s Muzinda 1A district.

The court heard that as a result of the misrepresentation, Musengezi fraudulently became a member of that district.

The State also alleges that in 2019 the accused again connived with Mutimbanyoka and misrepresented that he Musengezi, was a cell member of Zanu PF’s Mai Chitepo branch (Muzinda 1 district) and that he resided at house number 4461 Hatcliffe Extension, Harare.

As a result of the misrepresentation, Musengezi became eligible to contest for a Zanu PF branch post.

New Malaria Control Methods

Resolve Family Crisis, SuperSport United Tell Mahachi

SuperSport United have suspended Kudakwashe Mahachi from all club activities with immediate effect citing “serious allegations” against the Zimbabwean international.

The Pretoria-based outfit confirmed on Friday night they had been made aware of ‘serious’ allegations against the 28-year-old.

The club said Mahachi has to attend to his family and the allegations. Reads the statement issued by the club:

Statement:

SuperSport United FC has become aware of the serious allegations levelled against our player, Kudawashe Mahachi.

The club has suspended the player from all club football activities with immediate effect. He has been advised to attend to his family & the allegations against him.

The matter is subject to judicial processes. The club will make no further comment at this time.

Mahachi has only made eight appearances for SuperSport in the league this season, with his last game coming in the 2-1 defeat to Maritzburg in February.

The former Highlanders player is accused of having burned his 4-year old son with hot water leading to serious injuries.

Mahachi’s ex-wife Maritha Ndlovu accuses the Warriors star of abusing their child and burning him with water in South Africa before smuggling him back to Zimbabwe.

B-Metro reported that Mahachi called his ex-wife in February 2022, requesting for their son to travel to South Africa and temporarily stay with his father, to which she agreed.

The boy’s mother alleges that she only leant that her son was back in Zimbabwe and staying in Cowdry Park, Bulawayo with Mahachi’s grandmother, on April 19 as she had been blocked on WhatsApp by Kudakwashe Mahachi.

Ndlovu claimed that she went to get her son as soon as she heard he was in Zimbabwe and saw him heavily bandaged with burns all over the body.- Pindula News

Mutoko Man Hauled To Court Over Shovel Assault On Brother’s Wife

By A Correspondent- A 25 year old Mudzi man was arraigned before Mutoko magistrates courts after he assaulted his brother’s wife with a shovel after accusing her of refusing to release his wife’s clothes.

Trymore Tasikani was sentenced to 12 months in  prison by Mutoko magistrate  Elijah Sibanda.

Three months were suspended on condition of good behaviour while the remaining nine months were suspended for 315 hours of community service at Rwamba primary school in Mudzi.

Prosecutor  Nathan Majuru told the court that on March 25  Tasikani approached his brother’s wife Nurse Shaye (30) and accused her of refusing to release his wife’s clothes.

In a fit of rage, the convict picked a wooden handle and assaulted Shaye all over the body.

Shaye was seriously injured and filed a police report leading to the arrest of Tasikani.

“It’s Insane. These Are Flawed Elections”

SaBuku pamberi, (Zanu PF) district chairman shure navanhu, councillor aripovo. Kwava kunovota.” (Village headman will be in front, (Zanu PF) district chairman behind with the people and the local councillor will be there too. People will then go and vote!) explained President Emmerson Mnangagwa is a leaked audio video. See facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=search&v=1050575252264830

“Tinoziva Polling Station imwe neimwe inemarisuti ayo. Tinoziva kuti paPolling Station vanhu vaabvepi, vapinda napapi. Rufu haruna zhira, a vota anezhira!” (We know the voters registered at each Polling Stations. We also know everyone who votes came from. Death does not leave a tracible track record, voters do!)

Zimbabweans have known that Zanu PF has reduced many voters, especially in the rural areas, into medieval serfs totally beholden to the Zanu PF leaders and their proxy village heads, chiefs, war veterans, etc. Frog marching people to attend Zanu PF rallies and then to vote for the party is just one of the many ways Zanu PF is rigging these elections.

In the watershed March 2008 elections Zanu PF was forced to implement many reforms making these elections the nearest the country had ever come to holding free, fair and credible elections. Morgan Tsvangirai garnered 73% of the votes in the presidential race, according to Robert Mugabe’s Freudian slip. Zanu PF stopped ZEC announcing the results. The results were finally announced after six weeks. Tsvangirai’s 73% had been whittled down to 47%, enough to force a run-off.

The run-off saw the worst cases of election related wanton violence. Zanu PF unleashed party youths and liberation war veterans, foot soldiers, to destroy property, harass, beat and rape the people; punishment for rejecting Zanu PF in the March vote. The heavy duty stuff of abducting and killing was carried out by Police, Army and CIO personal deployed in “Operation mavhotera papi” (whom did you vote for), as the party called it.

“What was won by the bullet cannot be undone by the ballot!” thundered Robert Mugabe, cheering and applauding the wanton violence!

Tsvangirai was forced to withdraw from the race and Mugabe won the one-horse race with 84% of the vote.

SADC and the AU, who had always turned a blind eye to rigged Zimbabwe elections until then, joined the rest of the international community is condemning the 2008 elections for the blatant cheating and wanton violence. No one would recognise Zanu PF as the legitimate government forcing the party to sign the SADC proposed 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA).

Zanu PF agreed to the need for the country to implement a raft of democratic reforms designed to restore the rule of law and stop a repeat of the blatant cheating and wanton violence in future elections. A Government of National Unity (GNU) comprising Zanu PF and the two MDC factions was formed and tasked to implement the reforms.

The GNU failed to implement even one token reform in five years of the GNU. Robert Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and, with their snouts in the feeding trough, they forgot about the reforms.

The failure to implement even one reform in five years and thus waste this golden opportunity to end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance constitutes one of the darkest chapter in Zimbabwe’s history. Worse still, we have clearly learned nothing from MDC leaders’ betrayal because we continue to trust they, blindly.

When SADC leaders realised that not even one meaningful reform was implemented, the advised Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends not to participate in the 2013 elections until reforms were implemented. “If you go into the elections next month, you will lose. The elections are done!” SADC leaders told MDC leaders to their faces at SADC summit in June 2013.

As we know, MDC leaders paid no heed to the SADC leaders’ warning. By participating in the flawed elections MDC leaders have given SADC leaders the excuse to once again turn a blind eye to Zanu PF rigging elections as one of the MDC leaders, David Coltart, confessed in his book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart, in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

It is nearly one decade since the June 2013 SADC summit and warning of the sheer folly of MDC participating in a flawed and illegal election process. Boycotting the election was the “obvious” thing to do back then; today high treason to continue participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuate the people’s suffering and deaths.

As we can see Zanu PF has become even more arrogant in its blatant cheating and use of violence to secure electoral victory. As long as the party knows that the opposition will participate, out of greed, and give the regime legitimacy Zanu PF will continue to blatantly frog marching the voters, denying 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote punishment for the western imposed sanctions, etc., etc.

Here are the three main reasons why continued participation in flawed elections cannot be justified:
1)    When the process is so flawed and illegal and participating produces no significant gain.

2)    When participating gives legitimacy to the flawed process and results and thus help perpetuate the tyrannical oppression, especially after 42 years and counting of Zanu PF rigging elections.

3)    When one is participating out of selfish gain and offering feeble excuses as cover. The argument that CCC must participate or else Mwonzora will and give Zanu legitimacy is nonsense because Zanu and Zapu boycotted Ian Smith’s 1978 internal settlement and denied him legitimacy although Muzorewa and others participated. Mwonzora is just the modern-day Muzorewa. Besides, one will not participate in flawed process out of principles regardless of what others are doing.

All the three conditions are true in Zimbabwe today. What is Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends’ excuse for participating in these 2023 elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF is blatantly rigging these elections.

There is no denying that MDC/CCC’s failure to implement any reforms and the party’s continued participation in these flawed elections is helping to keep Zanu PF in power. MDC/CCC are supposed to help deliver democratic change and end the dictatorship but are, instead, undermining those fighting for real change. This is insane and CCC participation in these flawed elections must be condemned and stopped!

Man Attacks Suspected Wife’s Lover With Catapult

By A Correspondent- A Shamva man was last week jailed for 3 months for allegedly striking another man with a catapult accusing him of cheating with his wife.

Kinnah Tiribhoyi (21) of Chipoli in Shamva couldn’t swallow the fact that Pardon Chando of the same village was exchanging steamy texts messages with his wife hence he decided to strike him.

“I catapulted him. He was in the habit of exchanging steamy SMSs with my wife. I came across their chat and when I confronted him, he did not show any remorse so I got angry,” said Tiribhoyi.

According to police sources, the accused person approached the complainant over the issue and he denied.

This led to the accused striking the complainant with a catapult on the right arm.

The accused sustained a swollen hand and no medical report was availed.

Presiding over the case at Bindura magistrates courts, Shingirai Mutiro sentenced the accused to 4 months imprisonment with an option to pay ZWL 40 000.
3 months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

Parson Kundiona presented the State.

Meanwhile, a Mutoko man was also sentenced to 5 months in prison for stealing a motorbike last week.

Joshua Bepe of Mudzi allegedly stole a motorbike belonging to Tsabora Maruza also of Mudzi.

The motorcycle was stolen at Maruza’s homestead and police managed to recover it in the custody of Bepe in Mudzi Business Centre.

As a result Bepe was sentenced to an effective 5 months imprisonment with 3 months  suspended on condition of  good behaviour.

Elijah Sibanda presided over the case with Richard Mbambe presenting the State.

Woman Pulls Ex’s Organ, Renders It Useless For 3weeks

By A Correspondent- A man from Bulawayo apparently feared that he may never be able to use his sexual organ again after his ex-wife allegedly clasped and squeezed it together with his testicles so hard that he struggled to have an erection for almost three weeks.

Ronreth Chipxadu from Burnside suburb claimed that his organ was demobilised for three weeks after his former wife Olitha Ndlovu tried to pull it off during an argument.

He said whenever they had an argument, Olitha had a habit of grabbing his private parts. The incident which nearly had a disastrous ending was heard at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Ronreth was seeking a restraining order against Olitha.

Ronreth claimed that so violent was his ex-wife that she was in the habit of coming to his place to attack him with dangerous weapons such as axes and knives.

“I am here begging the court to help me solve the problems I am facing from my ex-wife. When we divorced, she took all the matrimonial property and surprisingly she is still coming back to my house without my consent to fight with me.

“When fighting with me she uses dangerous and sharp objects like axes and knives saying her intention is to kill me. She is always shouting at me.

Whenever we have a misunderstanding, she pulls my private parts. At one time she pulled my private parts twice and it took almost three weeks for my privates to get an erection,” lamented Ronreth.

He said at one time his ex-wife took an axe and threw it at him and fortunately it missed its target. In response Olitha claimed that when she pulled her ex-husband’s private parts she had been acting in self-defence.

“I am opposed to his application. He is the one who used to abuse me. After he had a girlfriend, he moved out of the house. When he later returned home, I was on my periods and he asked to have sex with me and I refused and that’s when we started fighting.

“While fighting, he strangled me and that’s when I reached for his private parts. I did that because he was sexually abusing me. I also dispute that I threw an axe at him,” responded Olitha.

In her ruling the presiding magistrate Nomasiko Ndlovu ordered Olitha not to verbally and physically abuse her ex-husband, or make threats of violence against him.

The magistrate also ordered her not to visit him at his residence.

Mnangagwa Torments Own Challenger

About New Malaria Prevention Strategies

Vic Falls Man Killed By Elephant

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZIMPARKS) has reported that a man was killed by an elephant in Victoria Falls last night.

35 people have been killed in HWC this year while more than 60 people were killed last year.

Early this week, two elephants that had been found loitering in Chiteni Village under Chief Ndanga, Zaka, were shot and killed by the Zimparks after villagers reported the matter to the police. The meat was given to the villagers, according to Information Secretary, Nick Mangwana.

Human Wildife conflict is a serious challenge in Zimbabwe.

Zimbos Stranded In Musina As Local Protest Poor Service Delivery

By A Correspondent- Scores of Zimbabwe-bound motorists, haulage truckers and passenger buses were stranded in South Africa on Thursday when residents of Musina went on strike protesting poor service delivery by their municipality.

Parts of Musina, particularly the high-density of Nancefield, have gone for three weeks without running water forcing residents to take   to the streets to register their displeasure.

The protesters burnt tyres, barricading roads leading to Beitbridge Border Post.

In a media release yesterday, the South African Police Services (Saps) said four suspects were arrested for leading the protests that disrupted Zimbabwe-bound traffic.

“More arrests are expected…During the protests, community members went on the rampage, blocked and burned tyres on the roads and some shops in Nancefield location and Musina town were looted. The protesters also damaged a police vehicle, torched a municipal tractor and some municipal buildings,” read part of the Saps statement.

Musina residents mostly complained about poor service delivery.

“The town is crippled. All shops are closed and youths are toy-toying in protests. They have blocked all the major roads in and out of the town. Blockages are from the tollgate 20 kilometres south of the town where protesters have camped on the N1 Highway,” a shop assistant told Southern Eye from Musina.

“We have been buying water from  vendors because our taps are dry.”

Officials from the Musina Municipality who were part of a South African delegation that toured Beitbridge recently on their way to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo said they were keen to get water supplies from Zimbabwe.

On Thursday, Zimbabwe’s Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka said government prioritised fixing Beitbridge’s water problems before exporting the commodity.

“We have to satisfy our citizens first before we export. Plans are there, but we have to deal with our own supplies first,” Masuka said.

Victory For The Mugabes

By A Correspondent- High Court judges of appeal on Thursday ruled in favour of the late former President Robert Mugabe’s children who are challenging the exhumation of their father’s remains for re-burial at the National Heroes Acre.

Bona Mutsahuni, Tinotenda and Bellarmine were challenging an order for the exhumation of Mugabe’s remains and confiscation of their livestock as ordered by Chief Zvimba, Stanley Mhondoro.

In the judgment, Justices Amy Tsanga and Fatima Maxwell ruled against Chinhoyi magistrate Ruth Moyo who had ruled Mugabe’s children had no rights to appeal against a judgment handed by the traditional court against their mother, Grace.

In May 2021, Chief Zvimba ordered the exhumation of Mugabe from his  rural home. The court also fined Grace for breaking burial rites and defaulting.

A messenger of court was granted authority to seize five heifers and a goat, which the Zvimba chief said was for cleansing of the country.

Bona and her siblings were aggrieved by the ruling and took the matter to court.

Bona said she was duly appointed executor to the estate of her father, hence her interest in the matter.

The appeal at the lower court was challenged by Tinos Manongovere, a villager who initiated the matter. The magistrates upheld Manongovere’s challenge.

Bona and her siblings then appealed against the ruling at the High Court which ruled in their favour.

“In the context of customary law, the court finds no absurdity in allowing any person aggrieved by a decision of a community court to appeal against it, even though the aggrieved person was not a party in proceedings before the community court,” the judges ruled.

“The court below erred in restricting the right of appeal to persons who were parties in proceedings before the community court. On the basis of the above, the first and second grounds of appeal succeed.

“The appeal be and is hereby allowed with costs. The judgment of the court a quo is set aside and is substituted as follows, the first preliminary point be and is hereby dismissed and costs be in the cause.”

The judges also referred the matter back to Chinhoyi Magistrates Court for continuation of the hearing.

During the hearing, Bona and her siblings argued that no one except them had the authority over their father’s grave, warning that anyone who would tamper with it would be committing a criminal offence as outlined in the Burial Act.

Through their lawyer, Tawanda Zhuwarara, Mugabe’s children insisted that the lower court must first determine if the traditional leader who ordered the exhumation and reburial had the rights to do so.

Mugabe died aged 95 in September 2019 and was buried at Kutamba after his family refused to have him interred at the National Heroes Acres.-newsday

Manhunt For Violent Mapostori

By A Correspondent- Police in Wedza, Mashonaland East province, have launched a manhunt for 12 Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church members over the violence that erupted at the church’s headquarters during Easter.

The suspects are all members of a faction led by Washington Mugodhi who allegedly assaulted a rival faction on April 14 as the fight for control of the church turned ugly.

Five church members were arrested and taken to Marondera Magistrates Court on public violence charges. They were remanded to May 20 on $15 000 bail each.

According to police, the majority of the suspects are from Masvingo province.

The suspects were identified in a video that was shot during the melee at the shrine.

The church has been rocked by a bitter leadership wrangle following the death of Thadeau Mugodhi in 2019.

The late Mugodhi had appointed his son Washington as successor, a move that angered other sect members who described it as unconstitutional.

One Tonny Sigauke, who claimed to be the rightful heir according to the church constitution, has taken Washington to court for clinging to the throne.

In September 2021, High Court judge Justice Esther Muremba ruled  that Sigauke did not have authority to represent the church while Washington’s appointment was declared null and void.

Businessman Nabbed Bonking Married Woman

By A Correspondent- Adultery is thrilling until the moment you are busted having sex in a car with someone’s wife.

Ask Bulawayo businessman Ramutsikabotlalo Mokoena, he will tell you that as much as stolen waters are sweet, being caught drinking from a forbidden fountain comes with much hurt.

Mokoena, who prefers to be called Ramutsi, was found having car sex with a married woman, Sihle Mlotshwa, by her husband, Sipho Mlotshwa in the wee hours of Monday in Nketa suburb.

And guess where the lovebirds were parked? Just next to Sipho’s house! “Sipho arrived home unexpectedly at around 4am from work.

To his shock when he stepped into the living room, he found their child sleeping on the sofa alone. He checked for his wife but she was not in the house,” said a close source who requested not to be named.

The source said Sipho then decided to go ask his wife’s friend about Sihle’s whereabouts, only to see her being intimate with another man just outside the friend’s gate!

Sipho dragged Ramutsi outside his car and bashed him. Hearing the noise outside, neighbours rushed out to see what was happening.

“They were shocked to find a shameful Ramutsi sitting in the driver’s seat trying to cover his genitals. Sihle tried in vain to evade the prying eyes of neighbours by squatting on the foot well and hid her face with a towel,” a neighbour said.

Ramutsi initially pleaded with B-Metro to drop the story:

“You know what my bro, the story will totally destroy my marriage and my business. I will do something for you. May I kindly come and meet up with you.”

Pressed on why he slept with Sipho’s wife he said: “I didn’t want to go, but that woman kept on phoning me in the end I had to drive to Nketa suburb and unfortunately we were caught having sex.”

Later, Ramutsi backtracked and sent this reporter a message on WhatsApp.

“I don’t understand why you have an image of me naked. And to say I was having sex with someone, where in the picture you sent to me the person, I was having sex with?

As a journalist I think you fully know that in Zimbabwe it is illegal to produce, possess or distribute pornographic material. How did you come by the photograph you sent to me?”

“I was assaulted, had my property damaged, robbed of my money and clothes in the process and this image is evidence to prove it (sic).”

After sending the message, he blocked this reporter.

Sipho confirmed the incident and said:

“He requested to pay a cow for sleeping with my wife. He has not paid me yet. Now I’m planning on which move to take.”

Efforts to get a comment from Sihle were fruitless as she cut calls.B Metro

Man Beats To Death Own Wife

By A Correspondent- A man from Tsholotsho has been arrested after he thrashed his wife with a Mopani stick, kicked her and stomped her throat resulting in her dying after he busted her sleeping on her alleged lover’s bed.

According to a source close to the case, Qhelani Tshabalala from Maphani Line in Tsholotsho, which falls under Chief Mathuphula’s jurisdiction, had been married to Kujani Mudenda (32) for a couple of years.

On Sunday at around 6pm, while Tshabalala was at Mlagisa business centre, one of his brothers approached him and told him that his wife was in a room with her secret lover.

The shocked Tshabalala rushed to the room and found his wife lying on the bed of a man named Tinashe (surname not provided), but Tinashe was not in the room.

Tshabalala teamed up with his two brothers, Phethani Tshabalala and Zenzo Tshabalala and together they tried to hunt down Tinashe but they failed to find him.

After the fruitless manhunt, Tshabalala force marched his wife home.

“While they were on the way, he quizzed her on why she was sleeping in Tinashe’s room and why she came to the business centre without telling him.

“He thrashed her several times with a mopani stick all over the body and kicked her in the face before stomping her on the throat,” said the source close to investigations.

Mudenda fell unconscious, the source said, and Tshabalala panicked and rushed to inform his mother. His mother, the source said, prepared porridge and took it to the scene.

“They found her breathing with difficulty and she tried to feed her with porridge but she died in her arms,” said the source.

They reported the matter to the police leading to Tshabalala’s arrest.

Police took the deceased’s body to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for post-mortem.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson Glory Banda confirmed the incident.

Insp Banda urged community members to engage relatives, friends, pastors, traditional leaders rather than to take the law into their hands.

Spirited efforts to get a comment from Tshabalala’s mother (Eveline) were fruitless.BMetro

Justin Bieber Banned From Buying Ferrari

Ferrari has banned singer Justin Bieber from ever buying its cars again accusing the singer of violating car-modification rules.

According to the Italian press, it all started when Justin parked his Ferrari 458 near a Beverly Hills nightclub and left it there for two weeks.

Then, in 2016, he modified the vehicle at a California auto repair shop that was not affiliated with the brand. Justin painted the car a shade of blue to replace the original white and added a 2 000-watt sound system and a Liberty Walk body kit.

In the same year, he was arrested for driving without a license. Not satisfied, the singer even auctioned off the car for $434 500 in 2017.

The transformation into the car and the sale violate Ferrari’s code of ethics, which prohibits owners from repainting models and auctioning them off without authorization.

The series of violations resulted in the company vetoing the artist from its client list.

Ferrari is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy.

Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 from the Alfa Romeo racing division as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car in 1940 and produced its first Ferrari-badged car in 1947.

Man Bitten By Own Dogs Dies

By A Correspondent- A man from Selbourne Park, a low-density suburb in Bulawayo, has died after he was attacked by his own dogs.

The dogs mistook John Gavhera (61) for an intruder and attacked him after jumping over his gate, having forgotten his keys at work. Reads a police memo:

The deceased jumped over the gate since he had forgotten the gate keys and since no one was at home and went inside the house to collect his toolbox. In no time the deceased was then heard rebuking his dog by a student who stays next door.

The neighbours then saw through the precast wall the deceased lying on the ground whilst three Boer bull dogs were biting him all over the body, dragging him and tearing his clothes.

Observations at the scene were that there were three big, vicious Boer bull cross breeds which were inside the yard which is durawalled (precast wall) and has a black gate. A torn work suit and phone was found near the gate, a blue monarch bag with tools was also found at the gate.

The neighbours could only watch the incident unfold from a distance as they feared the dogs would attack him.

The dogs were stopped when police were called in about 40 minutes later.

Gavhera was taken to a medical facility, where he eventually succumbed to the injuries that evening.

“Zanu Pf Buying Chief’s Loyalty With Perks Ahead Of 2023”: CCC

chiefs

By A Correspondent- The opposition Citizens Coalition Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, yesterday accused ZANU PF of trying to buy the loyalty of traditional leaders ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure said the government should also show the same zeal to improve the welfare of civil servants.-newsday

Tanzanian Quartet Nabbed Over Illegal Pharmaceutical Drugs

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested four foreign nationals in Beitbridge over possession of illegal pharmaceutical drugs.

In a report, seen by this publication, police said the suspects include three Democratic Republic of Congo nationals and one Tanzanian. Reads the report:

The ZRP confirms the arrest of four foreign nationals on 11/05/22 for possession of illegal Pharmaceutical drugs at Pande 2, Beitbridge. The suspects who include three Democratic Republic of Congo nationals and one Tanzanian were trying to cross the Limpopo River into SA.

Police recovered 5 boxes biunique, 3 boxes amoxylene, 05 boxes ibucap, 10 boxes c4, 10 boxes cypomex, 4 packs ongaspies, 84x310ml energy drinks, 1 box relief tablets, 1 box vanilla sugar, 1 box kifarm 100 tablets, 1 box of anti-mosquito, 5x100ml bottle cypomex, 2 boxes of comprimido and 6 suspected precious stones.

In a related case, police in Harare arrested 34 suspects on the 12th of this month for smoking dagga and unlawful possession of dangerous drugs at Matute Flats, Mbare and Copacabana areas.

Police recovered 36×100 mls of Bronclear Cough Syrup approximately valued at ZWL$45 000.

Counterfeit pharmaceutical drugs have been flooding Zimbabwean streets and have been attracting huge interest from members of the public who cannot afford to buy from registered pharmacies due to the deteriorating state of affairs. While cheaper, counterfeit drugs have the potential to negatively affect the health of those who use them.

UK Attacks Former Zim-Envoy Over Mnangagwa Ties

The United Kingdom parliament has attacked the former British ambassador to Zimbabwe, Catriona Laing, over her links with Zanu PF.

UK lawmakers said Laing’s links with Zanu PF resulted in her misleading the British government into believing President Emmerson Mnangagwa was a reformist.

Laing was the UK ambassador to Zimbabwe from 2014 and oversaw the transition from the Mugabe administration to the Mnangagwa regime while supporting Zanu PF and allegedly misleading London.
Debating in the UK Parliament last week, the British MPs said despite glaring misgivings on Mnangagwa’s capacity to usher in a new era divorced from human rights violations, corruption and other vices, their former ambassador, now the country’ top diplomat in Nigeria, was surprisingly close to Zanu PF, particularly Mnangagwa.

Laing was accused of failing to give reports on the real situation on the ground ahead of the coup and the 2018 elections.

Kate Hoey, member of the House of Lords in the UK, told the House that they visited Zimbabwe together with other lawmakers ahead of the 2018 elections and wrote a “depressing report” that also indicated how surprised they were of Laing’s close Zanu-PF ties.

“In 2018, just before the last presidential election I, along with the right honourable Conor Burns, visited Zimbabwe to write a report for the UK branch of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association on the possibilities of a free and fair election and the chances of Zimbabwe rejoining the Commonwealth,” Hoey said.

“We did not put Zimbabwe out, of course: it left. It was a depressing report. The Zimbabwean Electoral Commission (Zec) was not impartial and the voter roll was inadequate, for starters. The constitution was being ignored, so we wrote of our disappointment and surprise that our ambassador at that time seemed to be so close to the ruling Zanu-PF party,” she said.

However, Hoey saluted the current UK ambassador to Zimbabwe, Melanie Robinson, for doing a great job.

“I have to say that the current ambassador is doing a great job and is widely respected,” Hoey added.

She said they sounded warnings that Mnangagwa was not a reformist and likely to perpetuate Mugabe’s heavy-handedness.

“Many of us in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Zimbabwe at that time tried to warn of the danger and futility of expecting change from Mnangagwa. Not for nothing is he known as the crocodile. We were dismissed by some as needlessly pessimistic and lacking understanding of his desire to change but, as forecast, the pattern set by Mugabe was carried forward with sustained intensity and vigour, complying with plans cunningly crafted with the help of the military. Those had been planned for some time. Unfortunately too many of the agencies working in the country and too many diplomats initially fell for his lies and rather evil charm,” Hoey said.

“We were told that a new chapter of peace, economic efficiency and prosperity would be opened up. They have certainly opened up a new chapter, but it is the same horror story of corruption, greed and violent oppression. The only expertise Zanu-PF has ever shown, I am afraid, is in brutality, lying, theft and terror.”

In 2018, Laing was forced to deny Hoey and Burns’ allegations that she showed bias towards Mnangagwa and mocked then MDC-Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa in the run-up to the elections.

She was also under fire for being aloof following the army-led 1 August 2018 shootings that killed six unarmed civilians.

“We were disappointed at how every element of civil society and politicians outside Zanu-PF had the belief that the UK embassy — and in particular the ambassador is biased in favour of the incumbent regime,” the report read.

“Huge offence was taken that our ambassador wore a Mnangagwa scarf outside 10 Downing Street earlier this year on her visit to the UK. This offence and fear of bias was compounded when the first person to re-tweet it from his official account was Mnangagwa himself.”

“The embassy organised a dinner for us to meet some Zimbabweans and we found that most were supporters of Zanu-PF. Indeed prior to the dinner the ambassador was openly ridiculing the leader of the MDC-Alliance,” the two MPs said in their critical report.

On 5 August 2018, Laing took to microblogging site Twitter to deny reports of ridiculing Chamisa.

“I certainly did not ridicule Chamisa who I recognize as a major political figure in Zimbabwe. I believe he and I have a good relationship and we meet regularly. We had a good meeting just before election, discussing his plans if he won, and we spoke soon after,” she said.

In 2016, even the late former MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai warned of the Western diplomats’ views on Mnangagwa as a reformist in apparent reference to Laing.

“I was with one of the ambassadors who was talking about Mnangagwa being a pragmatist, but I said he is a pragmatist on other issues, but a hardliner on issues of governance and democracy,” he said then.

“Mnangagwa’s statement confirms that he is a hardliner, he has always been and not the reformist and pragmatist that some in the diplomatic community have begun to think he is.”

Chamisa In Army Recruitment Interview Questions

By- The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) recruits who qualified for the second phase of vetting after running a timed 10km marathon last month were examined over their opinions on Nelson Chamisa becoming Zimbabwe’s president.

The 44-year-old former ICT Minister is the leader of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

ZimLive interviewed two people who took part in the vetting exercise and corroborated the information.

After undergoing a medical examination, the recruits were sat down for a written test which featured 23 questions starting with the requirement to write a two-page biography.

Speaking on condition they were not named, the would-be recruits recalled that they were asked

i). Given the history of Zimbabwe which you know, how do you view Mr Nelson Chamisa being the next head of state?

ii). Zimbabwe is facing economic challenges. Which political party do you wish to win in 2023?

iii). Do you see Mr Nelson Chamisa winning the 2023 harmonised elections, why do you think so?

The military top brass, according to sources, has in recent years ordered recruiters to give preference to young recruits who attended rural schools owing to a perception that those who attended city schools are aligned with the opposition.

Chamisa’s spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda said if the reports are true, they represented an abuse of state institutions.

He added that the army should not be aligned with any political party.

The military has in the past been accused of campaigning for the ruling ZANU PF and terrorising members of the opposition.

Court Blocks Mugabe Re-burial

By- The High Court has ruled against the exhumation of the former President Robert Mugabe’s body.

The Hight Thursday ruled in favour of the late former President’s children who are challenging the exhumation of their father’s remains for re-burial at the National Heroes Acre.

Bona Mutsahuni, Tinotenda and Bellarmine were challenging the exhumation of Mugabe’s remains and confiscation of their livestock as ordered by Chief Zvimba, Stanley Mhondoro.

In the judgment, Justices Amy Tsanga and Fatima Maxwell ruled against Chinhoyi magistrate Ruth Moyo who had ruled that Mugabe’s children had no right to appeal against a judgment handed by the traditional court against their mother, Grace.

Order Of Events In The Case:

a). In May 2021, Chief Zvimba ordered the exhumation of Mugabe from his rural home. The court also fined Grace for breaking burial rites and defaulting.

b). A messenger of court was granted authority to seize five heifers and a goat, which the Zvimba chief said was for cleansing of the country.

c). Bona who was duly appointed executor to the estate of her father, and her siblings appealed against the judgment at the magistrates’ court.

d). The appeal was challenged by Tinos Manongovere, a villager who initiated the matter. The magistrates upheld Manongovere’s challenge.

e). Bona and her siblings then appealed against the ruling at the High Court which ruled in their favour.

Ruled the High Court judges:

In the context of customary law, the court finds no absurdity in allowing any person aggrieved by a decision of a community court to appeal against it, even though the aggrieved person was not a party in proceedings before the community court.

The court below erred in restricting the right of appeal to persons who were parties in proceedings before the community court. On the basis of the above, the first and second grounds of appeal succeed.

The appeal be and is hereby allowed with costs. The judgment of the court a quo is set aside and is substituted as follows, the first preliminary point be and is hereby dismissed and costs be in the cause.

The judges also referred the matter back to Chinhoyi Magistrates Court for the continuation of the hearing.

Mugabe died aged 95 in September 2019 and was buried at Kutamba after his family refused to have him interred at the National Heroes Acres.

Woman Cheats On Hubby, Deserts Own 4y Old Child

State Media -Mr Musiiwa Dube is a single father, raising his eight-year-old son alone, in a break from the common practice where women usually raise the child in cases of divorce.
Mr Dube from Emakhandeni suburb in Bulawayo separated with his wife four years ago.

He claims that she cheated on him. He said despite the infidelity, he continued to live with his wife as he was prepared to forgive her but she later left him and relocated to South Africa, leaving him raising the minor child.

Mr Dube said although he did not change his attitude towards her, one day she woke up and “escaped’ under the pretext that she was visiting relatives.

He believes circumstances leading to their separation have led him to mistrust women and it has been difficult for him to move on.

Mr Dube said it has become extremely challenging to single-handedly raise his child considering the nature of his job that takes him away from home for days.

Although Mr Dube initially agreed to share his picture with Chronicle, he later opted for his story to come out without his image.

“I started raising him alone when he was four years old and he is now eight years old.

My ex-wife left him when she left me and I’ve done my best to raise him.

I’ve always had a very strong bond with my child.

I remember when my ex-wife were still together, he didn’t care whether she was around or not but would cry whenever I was leaving.

So, I wondered how a child would love his father more than her mother,” said Mr Dube.

“However, since I separated with his mother it has not been easy raising him solo.

I spend most of my time at work and I have to cook for him before I leave for work and prepare all the day’s food.

It’s a bit challenging raising him because of my line of work, sometimes I spend two to three days away from home.

So, in my absence, I look for someone to take care of him on a temporary basis.

I’m forced to look for someone who will look after him.”

He said he has tried to hire domestic workers to take care of his son but most of them end up wanting a relationship with him, resulting in him firing them while others are unreliable.

Mr Dube said he mistrusts women following the painful circumstances that his customary marriage ended.

He discovered pictorial and text messages proving the infidelity.

“I don’t want to lie, the reason that led me to part with his mother hurt me so much.

Sometimes I get into relationships but it becomes very difficult to trust anyone.

I no longer trust women.

What I went through was painful and if I was someone, I could have committed suicide or ended up in jail for killing her,” said Mr Dube.

“I remember when I went to tell my in-laws, her uncle about what she had done, the first thing the uncle asked me was ‘which hospital was she hospitalised in or which mortuary had I left her body.’

Her uncle said to me ‘if it was his wife who had done it, she surely would have been dead.’

I struggled explaining to him that I had not laid a hand on her.”

Infidelity cases have on several times led to murder and suicide.

Mr Dube said he believes that self-restraint is very important because domestic violence cases have unintended effects on children.

“As men, as far as gender-based violence, is concerned we are emotional victims.

We know women get physically assaulted but with men we are emotionally abused.

Women can be provocative and I remember even during those days that I had caught her, she would even loudly speak with neighbours saying ‘I hope he did not call my boyfriends.’

“I think she was hoping I would assault her but I didn’t. Imagine what would have happened to my child if I had allowed my anger to overcome me.

I could have either been jailed for killing her or committed suicide.

As a result, my child was going to have suffered more.”

He said while he is raising his child alone, there are times when he feels a mother’s touch will make a difference in his home.

“Sometimes, my child might not be feeling well, he has to be taken to hospital and I have to balance my job and raising him.

If he is given medication, I have to monitor him and all these things could be easier done if there was a woman in my life.

Even as he goes to school, I leave home after preparing his meals and this means that he also eats cold meals which are not good for him,” he said.

Mr Dube said due to the bond he has with his son; he has opted against letting his son stay with relatives.

A marriage counsellor, Mr Christopher Ngwarai said it was bold for Mr Dube to come out about challenges faced by men in marriages.

He said a lot of men suffer from mental health problems causing some to commit suicide.

“Most of the times when a man comes out speaking about his problems in marriages, they are labelled as weak.

It is unlike women who share their challenges, even in church gatherings women openly share their challenges.

But men will prefer to talk about soccer or business.

When a man tries to open up on being cheated on, the first thing that happens is that he is labelled as weak and accused of failing to satisfy his wife sexually,” he said.

Mr Ngwarai said there is a need for more men to openly discuss mental health issues related to gender-based violence in the hands of their spouses.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said it was sad that lives are being lost as a result of domestic violence cases.

“Even men are also coming up, previously it was taboo for men to come out in the open and report cases of domestic violence.

What it means is we need all stakeholders to be involved in promoting the message of peace in families,” said Asst Comm Nyathi. -Chronicle

End Of The Road For Police Use Of Spikes

ZIMBABWE Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga has banned outlawed the use of hand held metal spikes by law enforcements agents following massive protests over the unnecessary loss of lives and injuries caused by the reckless practice.

On 6 May 2022, Kelvin Kabaya and Peggy Tavagadza of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), wrote a letter to ZRP requesting the law enforcement agency to immediately investigate the unwarranted use of metal spikes by police officers.

The letter to ZRP was written after some police officers recklessly threw some metal spikes on an alleged speeding commuter omnibus in Mutare, which led to a fatal road traffic accident, loss of lives and injuries to some commuters.

Kabaya and Tavagadza protested that the actions of police officers in spiking an alleged speeding vehicle were reckless, needless and exposed innocent women, men and school children to serious harm and unnecessary loss of life.

The conduct of ZRP officers, the human rights lawyers said, clearly violated the victims’ rights to human dignity and bodily integrity as defined in Sections 51 and 52 of the Constitution respectively and also violated the deceased persons’ right to life protected under Section 48 of the Constitution.

In apparent response to the protests against the abuse and use of metal spikes, Matanga on Friday 13 May 2022 published a press statement wherein he instantaneously banned ZRP officers from using hand held metal spikes while performing some traffic enforcement duties.

Matanga warned that any police officer who defies his directive would be arrested and prosecuted including facing stern disciplinary action.

Matanga said ZRP officers will only stick to the use of standard and approved spikes as the norm at conventional roadblocks and checkpoints and where the spikes will be laid down on the ground with certified specifications to assist police officers to control motorists who try to evade roadblocks.

Elvis Nyathi Killers Granted Bail

The seven men who were last month arrested for killing a 43-year-old Zimbabwean man, Elvis Nyathi, in Diepsloot, Johannesburg were on Friday granted R3000 bail each at the Randburg Magistrate Court.

Initially, the police had arrested 14 people, but seven others were cleared following thorough investigations.

The men were reportedly carrying out hate crimes against African migrants, especially Zimbabweans around Gauteng Province.

The accused persons are reported to be part of a vigilante group implementing an operation dubbed “Dudula”, a Zulu word for drive back.

Highlanders Coach Fumes Over Dismissal

Highlanders coach Mandla Mpofu has blamed the media for inciting his sacking.

The gaffer has been under fire from the club’s fans, who have been demanding his dismissal after a poor run in the Castle Lager Premiership.

Bosso have picked just two wins in their last ten games and are on a four-match run of draws.

The performances have left the Bulawayo giants on number 11 and fourteen points behind table-toppers Dynamos, whom they face at Barbourfields Stadium at 3 pm on Sunday.

Speaking to the reporters on Thursday, Mpofu said: “You guys (the media) are experts in your field, and I am an expert in coaching. You have got no chance on that.

“I have no chance in your field, and I can’t do anything. You have got the power of the pen, but I don’t have it.

“It’s unfortunate that is a naked truth.”

Mpofu added that he understands the fans’ frustrations, and they are working on delivering better results.

The supporters taunted the coach after Bosso went two goals down at one point during their 2-2 draw against Bulawayo Chiefs last weekend.

“I know how our fans are feeling. They want the team to win,” the gaffer said.

“What they did on Sunday is very normal…we need to appreciate the feeling of our fans, they want us to win, and I’m the only person responsible for turning around all those things to make sure that the team start to win.”

He added: “For now, let us look at the positive and channel all the energy to win on Sunday so that we bring the cheer and smile to our fans.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Latest On Caps United Crisis

Harare giants CAPS United has been hit by more chaos ahead of this weekend’s league match against Chicken Inn, amid revelations that they might lose two more senior players.

The Green Machine has not been the same since the players’ strike which nearly led to the cancellation of their league match against Cranborne Bullets two weeks ago.

The Farai Jere-executive responded by firing six players – Ronald Chitiyo, Clive Augusto, Dennis Dauda, Roddy Chinyengetere, Simba Chinani and Devon Chafa but later ‘pardoned’ Chitiyo, Chafa and Chinyengetere.

Despite being pardoned, it has emerged that Chitiyo is yet to fully commit to Makepekepe and has not been training with the team.

He was not at yesterday’s training session which was open to the media, fuelling speculation that he is on his way to Northern Region Division One side Simba.

Also absent at the practise session was central defender Jimmy Dzingai.

The former Warriors defender is believed to be on his way out of Makepekepe after a dressing burst-up at Mandava last week, where the Lloyd Chitembwe coached side lost 0-3 to FC Platinum.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Malaria Vaccine
