Another member only identified as Chasi, is heard saying the country is not for one person, it belongs to every person.
“These men do not listen to advice, so it’s better for them to leave…we will end up losing the country to Chamisa,” another adds.
The development comes at a time when the rift between Mnangagwa and hisbdeputy widened.

By- Former Information deputy minister and Zanu PF Goromonzi West MP, Energy Mutodi, has claimed that he received death threats over the few days.
Mutodi said he had increased his security as a result of the threats.
He tweeted Sunday:
I am tightening personal security following direct and indirect threats on my life in recent days.
MPs are public officials who represent the people and speak for the voiceless.
They must never be targeted for what they say or do in or outside Parliament.
Barely three weeks ago, Mutodi urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to reshuffle his Cabinet as a matter of urgency to avoid a humiliating defeat in the 2023 elections.
Mutodi said that some cabinet members do not have what it takes to help Mnangagwa solve the country’s economic challenges.
Mutodi had earlier criticised Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube in the National Assembly, asking why it took him such a long time to realise that buying and selling foreign currency has become the primary business in the country.
He also asked Ncube why Zimbabwe continued to use bond notes when he (Mthuli) has previously stated that “bad money drives out good money” before he became a Cabinet Minister.
By-Zanu PF sympathisers have suggested that Mwonzora leases out Harvest House because he now does not have officials to fill it up.
Posting on social media, Zanu PF Patriots said Mwonzora is politically dead.

ZANU PF activist Sybeth Musengezi has warned that factionalism and disgruntlement are breeding seeds for another bhora musango, that will see ruling party members voting for the opposition in the general elections expected next year.
His utterances come as divisions in the Zanu PF’s Bulawayo province along factional lines have emerged amid reports that some of the women nominated for the party’s women’s league posts have alleged G40 links.
Musengezi, who recently challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2017 ascendency to power, accused the Zanu PF leadership of failing to properly run the country, which he said was giving leverage for the party faithful to vote for opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa.
Bhora musango was a clandestine campaign by some Zanu PF leaders in the run-up to the 2008 harmonised elections, which urged the party members to vote against the late Robert Mugabe, despite voting for the party’s parliamentary and local authority candidates.
“Our current leaders have failed to run the country, they have failed the economy. Corruption is rife and generally people are suffering. On top of that, there is a lot of disgruntlement and factionalism in Zanu PF, so bhora musango is inevitable,” Musengezi tweeted.
“If Chamisa plays his cards well, I foresee him winning the hearts of many in 2023, even among those currently in Zanu PF may vote for him.”
While addressing the media last week, Zanu PF party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa admitted that there were growing fissures within the ruling party, but claimed that Mnangagwa had a right to serve for another term as stated in the Constitution.
In Bulawayo, there were reports that some party members were unhappy that people perceived to be part of the G40 cabal had been selected as members of the party’s Bulawayo province women’s league last week.
These include veteran politician Angeline Masuku, Maidei Mpala, Rebecca Manjere and Rose Jerengwa.
Some party members believe that two of the women are from the G40 cabal.
An insider said: “Over the weekend, the province’s women’s league chose representatives to the national league. Some of the women’s league national representatives came out to be G40 members. The plan remains to destroy Zanu PF from within so that we could lose elections through bhora musango. During the by-elections, people in Bulawayo voted for CCC.”
Zanu PF Bulawayo spokesperson Archibold Chiponda said: “Unless you tell me who these so-called people that are complaining are, I do not know where that G40 issue is coming from.”
Political analysts said the possibility of a bhora musango could not be ruled out.
“After the 2017 coup, the ruling party Zanu PF has been struggling with increased internal contradictions within its leaders due to factionalism. We even saw factionalism playing out in internal provincial elections and this may affect the party’s electoral showing in 2023,” political analyst Vivid Gwede said.
Another political analyst Methuseli Moyo said: “Anything is possible considering the reports of factions in Zanu PF. The forthcoming annual gathering will either mend or widen the cracks. If the cracks persist, Mnangagwa must prepare himself for a run-off, or at worst, an outright defeat. He has to marshal his troops very well for 2023. It will not be easy. It promises to be a well-contested election.”
However, political analyst Maxwell Saungweme said people should not read much into the ongoing Zanu PF factional battles.
“Zanu will be Zanu PF. They have gone in the previous three general elections divided and factional battles were going on, but at the end, they are announced the winners. What makes them win is the patronage system they have, and superior organisational level around elections than the opposition, the State institutions they capture, public resources they divert to party business, violence and electoral fraud. So don’t read too much into Zanu PF factionalism.”
Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said: “I don’t think Zanu PF factional wars result in a high vote displacement rate. They gain more from a united front than division, so they tend to gravitate towards unity during electoral times. However, we don’t know the gravity of the situation until their congress or primary elections are held. They will certainly lose votes, but not substantially.” –Newsday

If you want to do business in Zimbabwe, this is how it works:
You go to Collin Mnangangwa or any of the Mnangangwa’s sons, you pay them, then they take you to dad and boom business license pfee.
Corruption by Mnangangwa and his family is destroying Zimbabwe than colonial!
It will be catastrophic for Zimbabwe to have Mnangangwa, his sons and July Moyo for another 5 years. These guys are taking everything mercilessly from one of the most poorest nations in the world.
Mnangangwa will do anything to enrich himself and his greedy sons, the poor man ( Munatsi) died for Pomona deal.
Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba has threatened Harare mayor Jacob Mafume with arrest for opposing Cabinet’s decision to endorse the US$240 million Pomona waste management deal for the city.
The threat comes after a tense Harare City Council (HCC) special meeting last week resolved to suspend the deal between Netherlands-based Geogenix BV company and HCC, which will see Geogenix BV pocketing US$22 000 per day for 30 years.
Charamba yesterday told NewsDay: “The government is not taking over the Pomona project, but is merely approving the project. The project owners are the Harare City Council and what the government is simply doing is to approve, and there is a difference between approving and taking over. The council voluntarily took the project to the minister (Local Government) for consideration. The minister cannot disown the minutes that he took to Cabinet.
“If this little lawyer whom you call the Mayor of Harare (Jacob Mafume) insists on opposing the Cabinet decision, he must know for sure that we will end up locking him (up) in prison. He will be a suitable candidate for Chikurubi (Maximum Security Prison).”
But Mafume remained adamant, saying he was unfazed by Charamba’s threats.
“How does he run government by threats? What crime have I committed? If it’s a council decision, then we no longer want it. Why does he threaten me all the time? Does he want me to die in Chikurubi? Why does he want to kill me for saying the truth?”
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) has been petitioned to investigate the circumstances leading to the controversial agreement.
Civic society groups and residents’ groups have also questioned the corrupt deal as it is likely to cost taxpayers.
Last week, HCC was handed a US$750 000 bill by Geogenix BV fronted by businessman, Delish Nguwaya, but the local authority refused to foot the bill.
Centre for Natural Resource Governance director Farai Maguwu said government’s insistence that the project should go on despite that it is mired in corruption proved that some powerful people could be involved.
“Corruption is writ large on that deal. The insistence indicates that the deal was instructed by someone with enormous power such that despite the public disapproval, it will still go ahead. Otherwise the irregularities of the deal, including the absence of an open tender and the ridiculous fees the struggling City of Harare is forced to pay, should have resulted in the suspension of the project and setting up of a commission of inquiry leading to possible arrest of those involved,” Maguwu said.
He pointed out that the fact that Nguwaya, who was also mentioned in the multi-million dollar Drax saga for the purchase of COVID-19 personal protective equipment, is involved was enough to raise a red flag.
“These filthy deals are haemorrhaging the country, and it also confirms meddling by central government in council affairs,” Maguwu said.
Political analyst Vivid Gwede said: “The Pomona saga exposes how central government interferes in the running of councils. The deal, which was penned without going to tender, raises a lot of questions as it resulted from a dubious process.”
Economist Victor Boroma also said: “The waste collection and recycling mandate falls under the City of Harare. I do not see how the government can stop an investigation or allow the deal to continue when HCC said it should not continue. People have the right to refuse the deal because they will pay for the fees through taxes.”– Newsday
State Media -Chief Nekatambe from Hwange district in Matabeleland North, has been hospitalised after he was involved in an accident in the mining town yesterday.
Hwange District Development co-ordinator Mr Simon Muleya last night said the chief’s vehicle was hit by a truck close to the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) along the Hwange-Bulawayo highway
“I can confirm that Chief Nekatambe was involved in an accident late today (yesterday) but I do not have details on the extent of his injuries. He is admitted to the Hwange Colliery Hospital,” he said.
“We understand his car was hit by a truck.”
Chief Nekatambe’s accident comes weeks after another traditional leader Chief Mabhikwa was involved in an accident in Lupane and later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Efforts to contact the traditional leader’s family to ascertain the extent of his injuries were fruitless.– Chronicle
The man accused of spilling a lot of state secrets on social media, former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s first husband Stanley Goreraza has died after battling cancer and suffering stroke.
Although efforts to get an official comment from his family were fruitless yesterday, a notice seen by NewsDay directed to Volendam Court residents in Harare, where Goreraza was staying at the time of his death, said he had died yesterday morning.
“Good morning. I hope I find you all well. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on of our dear friend, Stanley Goreraza. He passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer and stroke. May his dear soul rest in peace,” read the message to residents at the flat situated in Harare’s Avenues area.
Air Force of Zimbabwe spokesperson Squadron Leader Donovan Muroyiwa said he was not yet aware of the development. “I’m not yet aware of his death,” Muroyiwa said.
Goreraza, who was once married to Grace before they separated and she married the late former President Robert Mugabe, once served as an Air Force of Zimbabwe pilot. He and Grace had a son together, Russel Goreraza.
After Mugabe snatched Grace away from him, Goreraza was posted to serve as a military attaché, in China and later in India.

THE National security Task Force (NTF) on Thursday shot and killed an alleged armed robber who was part of a 10-member gang that terrorised migrants and smugglers along the Limpopo River.
The gang would target people entering and leaving in the country through illegal crossing points close to the old Limpopo River.
The man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, had pounced on a couple on a footpath near the Alfred Beitbridge and robbed them of R5 000 after attacking them with knives.
It is reported that the suspects would use knives and guns to subdue victims.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police were not relenting on their quest to get rid of criminal elements along the border with South Africa.
“We will release the now deceased’s details in due course and at the moment we are still pursuing other gang members,” he said.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect who was in the company of nine others who are still at large who were armed with knives, came across a couple that was walking towards Zimbabwe from the South African side of the border.
“They then encircled them and stabbed the husband with knives on the hands and took from him R5 000, his wife managed to escape and she alerted our security agents on our side who swiftly reacted.”
Continued Asst Comm Nyathi, “When the security team arrived, they found the gang further stripping the complainant of his belongings and fired warning shots, but the gang charged at them and they opened fire killing one of the suspects.”
He said soon after the shooting other gang members escaped to the South African side of the Limpopo River.
Asst Comm Nyathi said further investigations into the matter were underway. He warned people against using illegal crossing points to leave or enter the country or to move goods.
“Those engaging in such activities are risking their lives and if found they will be arrested.
As the police, we also want to assure the nation that those engaging in crime along our borders will be arrested. We will not fold our hands, the security agents are in control and on top of the situation,” said Asst Comm Nyathi. –Chronicle

The headmaster of Hartzell High School, Shorwi Kawadza, pocketed more than $2 million for firewood supplies made to the school by a company he owns.
According to a recent audit report compiled by Gesimat Consultancy and Auditors, Kawadza, through his Mutrue company, received payments amounting to more than $2 million from the United Methodist Church-run school.
The audit report revealed that there was no declaration of interest or approval.
United Methodist Church’s Administrative Assistant to the Bishop, Reverend Alan Masimba Gurupira confirmed the development to The Manica Post. He said:
We instituted an audit at Hartzell High School through the Council of Finance and Administration and we now have the report, but an audit report cannot be quickly read and interpreted.
We will only be able to discuss the contents after we go through them and sit down to deliberate on the matter. That will be after two days or so.
The audit report says there were no invoices for goods received or documents showing the items purchased were indeed received by the school. Read part of the audit report:
We noted that Mutrue Investments (Private) Limited was a commodity supplier to the school. The company was registered on May 13, 2019, and is registered under Certificate of Incorporation 7605/2019.
The registered directors are Shorwi Kawadza (42-080703 T-42) of House Number 3982, Hobhouse 2, Mutare; Janepher Kawadza (42-108328-W-42) of 3982, Hobhouse 2, Mutare and Mutsa Chanyoka (48-104773-W-42) of 3982, Hobhouse 2, Mutare.
We reviewed the school minutes to ascertain whether Mr Shorwi Kawadza had made a declaration of interest to supply the school and confirm whether there was approval. We did not find the declaration of interest or approval.
Hartzell High School paid Mutrue Investments $238 541 in 2020 and $1 978 110 in 2021 for various items, but mainly firewood.
There were no invoices for goods received or any other note to prove that the items purchased were indeed received by the school.- Manica Post
Sadio Mane has said that he will do what the people of Senegal want when deciding about his future.
Mane has twelve months left on his Liverpool contract and Bayern Munich are interested in signing the forward on a three-year deal.
The 30-year-old had promised he would reveal on his next after the Champions League final which the Reds lost 1-0 to Real Madrid last weekend.
The winger has now broken his silence, giving the clearest indication yet that his days in a Liverpool shirt are numbered.
Speaking to reporters while on international duty with Senegal on Friday, Mane was asked for his response to a poll about his future, and he said: “Like everyone else, I’m on social media and I see the comments. Isn’t it between 60 to 70 per cent of Senegalese that want me to leave Liverpool?
“I will do what they want. We will see soon! Don’t be in a hurry because we’ll see this together.”
Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping an eye on his situation.
However, any interested club will have to pay around £42.5m for Mane’s services next season as Liverpool have attached a slightly higher price tag than the £35m initially touted.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

The harmful impact of the tobacco industry on the environment is vast and growing adding unnecessary pressure to our planet’s already scarce resources and fragile ecosystems.
Tobacco kills over 8 million people every year and destroys our environment, further harming human health, through the cultivation, production, distribution, consumption, and post-consumer waste.
Make the tobacco industry clean up their mess
The tobacco industry is making profit by destroying the environment and needs to be held accountable for the environmental destruction and made to pay for the waste and damages, including to recover the cost of collecting these wastes.
Tobacco growing, manufacturing and use poison our water, soil, beaches and city streets with chemicals, toxic waste, cigarette butts, including microplastics, and e-cigarette waste. Don’t fall for the tobacco industry’s attempt to try and distract from its environmental harms by greenwashing their products through donations to sustainability initiatives and reporting on environmental “standards” they often set themselves.
Governments and policy makers should support tobacco farmers to switch to alternative, more sustainable livelihoods to reduce the environmental impact of tobacco growing, curing and manufacturing while continue to implement tobacco control measures.

By Last Maengahama- It’s now a solid year after Tungamirai Madzokere and l were released from Chikurubi Maximum Prison where we had spent close to a decade serving a 20 year sentence for a crime that we had not committed, our only crime was being members of MDC led by the late Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, May His Soul Rest In Power, we didn’t attend his funeral because we were locked up.
Ours was a case of, there must be a conviction no matter the amount of evidence exonerating the accused, no matter how watertight their alibis are, MDC T members must be the imprisoned at all cost.
Our release on the fourth of June 2021 was a joyous and sad moment, joyous that as political prisoners we were free at last and sad because justice for the late inspector Mutedza wasn’t done, the police and the courts chose to play politics instead of solving a murder case and bringing the actual perpetrators to book.
Justice wasn’t served and in a normal country the Courts would have been put to task, because this is a clear case of how unfair and unjust the court system is in matters that involves pro democracy activists, l call upon all stakeholders to advocate for a Fair and Just judicial system.
Our stay in prison was illegal but it was also an eye opener as we were exposed to the urgenty needs of reforms in the prison system, there is a Rehabilitation crisis, Prisoners aren’t being prepared for re-integration in the society but left alone to choose a life of crimes or law abiding citizens, there is a serious need of cases review in prison because some convicts are innocent, they are imprisoned because of miscarriage of justice.
When we were sentenced to 20 years in prison the Judge was clear that it was a lenient sentence because one of our co accused was a female and the Constitution of Zimbabwe doesn’t allow women to be executed, that’s why we were a saved from death penalty, to think of it that as innocent as we were, we were nearly send to the noose, it is then without no second thought or regret that l call for the abolishment of the Death Penalty because the probability of execution of an innocent people is higher than of an actual criminal and the Death Penalty maybe abused to settle political issues.

By A Correspondent- Outsponen politician and human rights lawyer Job Sikhala says a Zanu-PF leader for Nyatsime area in Chitungwiza, Simbarashe Chisango, who is allegedly linked to the disappearance of Moreblessing Ali is well-known for terrorising opposition activists.
Ali, a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist, was last seen at around 9pm on May 24 outside Chibhanguza Night Club where she was allegedly assaulted by a ruling party activist before she was bundled into a vehicle.
The incident happened at Chibhanguza Shopping Centre in Nyatsime.
Her whereabouts are still unknown.
Ali had gone to the shops for a drink with her friend and neighbour Kirina Mayironi, who allegedly fled the scene after she was attacked with a catapult.
In an interview with the The Standard, Sikhala, the CCC interim deputy chairperson maintained his earlier claims that Ali was abducted by Chisango and his team.
“Chisango has been a terror gang leader in Nyatsime area for a long time,” the MP said.
“I have several cases that were brought to my attention by people who have been attacked by Chisango and his terror gang that comprises his cousin Pius Jamba and others.
“On the day when Ali was abducted, Chisango was seen late at night at the centre as if seeking to verify if people had witnessed the incident.
“Police officers who patrolled the area met him and asked what he was doing.
“His explanation was not satisfactory.
“However, some people are saying he was looking around to see if people had seen what had happened.”
Sikhala said evidence at hand from eyewitness accounts linked Chisango and his team to the abduction.
“There are quite a number of things pointing towards the culprits who committed this crime, but at the end of the day, we must not be afraid as we all know that everything hidden will one day come out.
“We will definitely get hold of the culprits.
“Wherever they have put her, dead or alive all these things will come out.
“But the truth of the matter is that ‘Zanu-PF thugs’ are behind her abduction.
“We are expecting police to act responsibly and make sure Ali is brought back, without injuries. That’s what we are demanding.”
Sikhala also alleged that a 2018 MDC Alliance Ward Nine candidate Precious Jeche and one Misheck Guzha were also attacked by the gang last month.
The assault was reported to police under case numbers CR 73/05/22 and CR74/05/22.
Sikhala said there was also a case before the Chitungwiza magistrates court of an old man who suffered a broken hand after he was assaulted by the gang.
An anonymous letter seen by The Standard written in Shona addressed to Sikhala reads:
“They made this woman disappear.
“These people are Chisango, his brother (cousin Jamba), his wife, Liberty Mondiwa among others.
“They accused her of being a CCC supporter.
“I was beaten in April for supporting CCC and survived by chance. I have three shaking teeth now.
“The police from Beatrice came yesterday and took a statement.”
Chisango, an alleged land baron, threatened to beat up The Standard journalist when reached for comment.
“Listen giant, I am taking your number. I don’t want people who ask me nonsense. Do you hear me?
“Don’t ask me again, otherwise we will fight if you keep on telling me this nonsense,” Chisango said.
Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they were still investigating, adding statements from politicians were not part of the investigations.
“We are still investigating and we are taking this seriously,” Nyathi.
“We are appealing for information, which can assist the police to find Jamba.
“He can actually shed light on what transpired.
“This is the position that we are taking.
“All other political statements being made by people trying to use language which is not consummate to the profession, to scold certain individuals, is not part of the police investigation.”
Zimbabwe has a dark history of abductions and enforced disappearances.
Victims of forced disappearances include Patrick Nabanyama and Itai Dzamara who have not been seen again following their abduction in 2000 and 2015 respectively.

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe will this month receive its first consignment of maize imported from Malawi by private players.
This was revealed on Saturday by Grain Millers’ Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) chairperson, Tafadzwa Musarara.
GMAZ entered into an agreement with the State-run Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) to import 100 000 metric tonnes of maize.
Said Musarara:
The deal is cast in stone and there is no going back in our efforts to feed the nation.
Logistical arrangements are being finalised and we are expecting the first trucks to arrive in the country on June 30.
Reports indicate that some middlemen allegedly working in cahoots with politicians are trying to frustrate Zimbabwe’s bid to import maize from Malawi despite the existence of a deal.
In February 2022, Cabinet granted private grain millers permission to import maize using free funds to augment local stocks.
Meanwhile, GMAZ said it had secured 400 000 metric tonnes of white maize from Malawi and Zambia.
Zimbabwe requires 2.2 million tonnes of maize, of which 1.8 million are for human consumption, while 350 000 tonnes are for stock feeds, annually.
By A Correspondent- A 32 year old Gwanda woman yesterday rode her luck after she won two cars at the OK Grand Challenge Jackpot Promotion final event that saw winners walking away with 47 vehicles and other prizes at Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare.
Portia Dube, a married mother of two, secured two Nissan NP200 vehicles which were sponsored by two of OK Zimbabwe Limited’s partners for the event, Arenel and CABS. In an interview with The Sunday Mail, the ecstatic Dube said she was confident of winning as she had travelled all the way from Gwanda to attend the draw.
“I am so elated at having won these two cars. Last year, I won five times from weekly draws. This year, I have been buying at OK shops almost every day. I was targeting products that were on promotion and my hopes were high this year considering the number of entries I made. That is why I travelled all the way from Gwanda,” she said.
In his keynote remarks at the event, OK Zimbabwe board chairperson Mr Herbert Nkala said this year’s Grand Challenge was historic due to the huge number of prizes on offer.
“The OK Grand Challenge Jackpot Promotion is a national happiness occurrence that symbolises the heart of what we stand for as OK Zimbabwe Limited. We are giving away 47 cars today, which has never happened before in the history of our promotions here in Zimbabwe and in Southern Africa at one go,” he said.
“The promotion has grown bigger, better and much more exciting. The 44 cars out of 47 are coming from our supplier partners and three are coming directly from us.”
He said the OK Grand Challenge horse race had been recently classified as a Grade 1 competition internationally, making it one of the biggest races on the racing calendar globally. Prosper Zambuko from Kwekwe drove away with a double-cab Ford Ranger, which was the main prize from OK Zimbabwe Ltd
By A Correspondent- President Cyril Ramaphosa allegedly kept large sums of money in foreign currency, estimated to be $80 million (R1.24 billion), “concealed” under mattress and couches at his farm in Bela-Bela, Limpopo.
It has been established that the money was allegedly stolen by five Namibians who conspired with his domestic worker in February 2020.
Ramaphosa has allegedly failed to report the matter to any police station. Instead, he allegedly paid the suspects, including his domestic workers, R150 000 each not to reveal the incident to anyone after they were traced and apprehended.
Ramaphosa allegedly solicited the services of his head of the Presidential Protection Unit, Major-General Wally Rhoode, to investigate the matter without reporting it at any police station.
Rhoode, in return, got a local farmer, who is a neighbour at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala Farm in Bela-Bela, to assist him with the investigation to trace the thieves.
Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, confirmed that there had indeed been a robbery at the president’s farm.
The admission came after former State Security Agency and Correctional Services director-general Arthur Fraser opened a criminal case against Ramaphosa at Rosebank police station.
The case was registered on Wednesday with Fraser saying Ramaphosa and Rhoode must be investigated for money laundering, corruption, and kidnapping.
In his affidavit, submitted to the police and seen by the Sunday Independent, Fraser added, “it is no small matter to lay criminal charges against a sitting President, but I am guided by the dictates of the interest of justice and our Constitution”.
Fraser said in the affidavit that thieves broke into the president’s wildlife farm on February 9, 2020, and stole “undisclosed sums of United States Dollars, concealed in the furniture in the main farmhouse”.
“The incident was not officially reported to the police to investigate. However, President Ramaphosa instructed Major-General Rhoode to investigate the incident immediately, apprehend the suspects, and retrieve the stolen US$,“ Fraser wrote in his affidavit to the police.
“Although there was no certainty as to the precise amount stolen from the President’s residence, the quantum was speculated to be in the region of approximately US$4 million to US$8 million.”
Questions sent to newly appointed Ramaphosa spokesperson Vincent Magwenya on Friday remained unanswered at the time of publication, although we gave him a 1pm deadline today.
These are the questions sent:
1. In your press statement released yesterday, you confirm that the President admitted that there was indeed a robbery at his wildlife game farm in Bela-Bela. Can the President confirm or deny that the money stolen was concealed in the furniture at his residence and that it wasn’t in a safe or a vault?
2. Can the President confirm or deny that he paid all the five men, who were apprehended for the stealing at his farm, including his domestic worker who allegedly conspired with the robbers, R150 000 each in cash to buy their silence not to reveal to anyone about the robbery?
3. How much was stolen in total?
4. How much was recovered in total?
5. How much was in the President’s residence in total at the time of the robbery?
6. In your statement, you said the money stolen was “proceeds from the sale of game”. a) Did the President declare the live stock trade in his register of assets (can we see the declaration), b) Did he declare the foreign currency in hand before it was stolen (can we see the declaration), c) Can the President disclose which countries or persons he was trading with and d) Whether he had permits for such trade at the time?
7. Is the President aware that the law, in this country, doesn’t allow an auctioneer to accept cash on site?
8. Does the President have enough confidence in our police, if so, why didn’t he report this case to any police station instead of reporting it to the head of the Presidential Protection Unit?
9. Can the President confirm or deny that he had arranged with his Namibian counterpart for Major-General Wally Rhoode to go to Namibia to trace one of the suspects, interrogate him and seize some of the money stolen from his farm and bring it back to South Africa?
10. Is there anything the President would like to tell fellow South Africans about this robbery at his farm?
I would be happy to receive your response before 13:00 tomorrow, June 4, 2022.
Instead, at about 2:42 pm Magewnya sent the reporter a WhatsApp message saying: “… my apologies. Because of the volume of detailed questions we have received, most of which we cannot answer due to pending investigation, we are going to release a statement later to address the issue.”

By A Correspondent- CCC deputy chairperson and Zengeza West MP, Job Sikhala, has demanded the safe return of party activist Moreblessing Ali who was allegedly abducted by suspected ZANU PF activists on 24 May 2022.
CCC says Ali (46), who has been missing for 11 days, was attacked by ZANU PF supporters in the Nyatsimbe area and then bundled into a car.
Posting on Twitter this Sunday, Sikhala rejected the explanation given by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Ali’s disappearance.
Police said Ali was dragged into the darkness by her ex-lover Pius Jamba while drinking beer at Chibhanguza Shopping Centre, Nyatsime in Beatrice.
However, Sikhala blames ZANU PF for Ali’s disappearance, saying the ruling party uses enforced disappearances as a weapon against critics. He wrote:
The Moreblessing Ali disappearance without trace story is the reflection of the sick society which ZANU PF has bestowed upon our nation since their assumption of power in Zimbabwe.
The history of people disappearing without a trace has been upon us since the day ZANU PF assumed power.
If you go to Matabeleland, there is no family without the scar of a missing relative without a trace in the 1980s and their whereabouts unknown up to the present.
Patrick Nambanyana disappeared without a trace up to today. David Coltart made consistent pleas both in public and in Parliament several times to no result.
Itai Dzamara disappeared up to the present. No one knows what happened to him. This is the kind of society that has been created for you dear Zimbabweans.
Today Moreblessing Ali’s story is walking on the same path. This time we will never take chances. We will make unprecedented noise until the culprits are brought to book.
The explanations given to absolve certain players will never be entertained. This regime has been disappearing please with reckless abandon. Now is the time to stop this nonsense.

By A Correspondent- Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Kindness Paradza, said the Government has established that there is no truth to social media claims that people are selling their toes to ritualists.
Last week, Paradza visited Ximex Mall in central Harare following reports that some dealers were acting as middlemen for ritualists who were allegedly buying toes for thousands of US dollars.
A dealer who had previously claimed that trade in toes has been going on “for a long time” later retracted his earlier assertion, saying he was drunk and was only joking.
Speaking to ZBC News, Paradza warned members of the public against spreading falsehoods on social media as this tarnishes the country’s image. He said:
As Government, we made some investigations into this issue and we assessed the status of the matter.
There is nothing like that, it’s the act of social media peddlers who are trying to tarnish our country.

By- Norton lawmaker Temba Mliswa has claimed that Local Government Minister July Moyo was planning to overthrow Emerson Mnangagwa.
July Moyo, is Mnangagwa’s family friend and personal advisor.
Close Mnangagwa associates claim that July Moyo knows ED’s private secrets, including his (Mnangagwa) extra-marital affairs and out of wedlock children.
This is why July Moyo, they say, had been relegated by the late former President Robert Mugabe.
In a series of tweets Saturday, Mliswa claimed that July Moyo was staging side shows to discredit Mnangagwa so that Zanu PF shuns him.
Posted Mliswa:
Besides corruption, July Moyo is at the centre of a conspiratorial plan to usurp Pres Mnangagwa from power. As we get into the second half of the year, it won’t be a surprise to see strange events unfolding as he seeks to cement his dreams of power.
The minister was still to comment on the allegations at the time of writing.
However, the development is two years old and another story that has remained unchallenged by the minister published by the exiled Prof Jonathan Moyo.
The story alleges that at one time, July Moyo donated to the Zanu PF leader a pair of shoes laced with witchcraft poison to kill his relative, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The sensational allegations are still to be responded to for over two years.

By Business Correspondent | Government minister July Moyo was yesterday grilled over his defending of the tenderless contract award to the armed robber enlist Delish Nguwaya’s Geogenix company shortly after the sudden death of the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency Director Douglas Munetsi. Below was his response:
A commissioner at the Public Service Commission (PSC) Tsitsi Choruma is at the centre of a farm invasion storm that has rocked the Lands ministry in the Mazowe area after being allocated part of the lucrative Amandas Estate.
The development, farmers in the area say, is likely to disrupt one of the most productive farms in Mazowe District where agricultural production is booming.
Choruma has since occupied part of the Amandas Estates and recently drilled a borehole despite a restraining order issued by the Magistrates Court to protect the other farmer and industrialist Prosper Muchenje — who was originally allocated the 200-hectare land in 2013.
The PSC commissioner was allocated 50 hectares of land for crops and livestock by the Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development minister Anxious Masuka on March 14, 2022.
But the Zimbabwe Independent understands Choruma was allocated the farm after junior lands officers in Mazowe made recommendations to the parent ministry without involving the Mashonaland Central provincial lands committee.
Muchenje has since taken the matter to the courts challenging the annexation of his farm which resulted in Choruma benefiting.
Some of the letters penned by junior ministry officials include one written by P Chiyangwa, a land technician, supporting the subdivision of Amandas Estate.
However, Lands ministry officials explained that Chiyangwa was a junior officer who was not authorised to write official documents pertaining to land issues.
“Title – land technician is very junior; it’s just above office orderly (office sweeper) and in my view has no authority whatsoever to write that letter. Letters have to be written by the district lands officer,” a Lands ministry official, who preferred anonymity, said.
Mazowe District lands officer Mugove Gasa declined to comment and referred questions to the Lands ministry.
Mashonaland Central chief lands officer Tsimba Albert Tsimba could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered.
Approached for comment Choruma said she was allocated part of Amandas Estate following due processes resulting in the Lands ministry issuing an offer letter.
She said she has all the required paperwork to prove that the farm subdivision was done following the procedure.
However, Muchenje alleged that Choruma unleashed a powerful arsenal of retired soldiers in the Mazowe area who are threatening to take over about 50 hectares of the maize crop which is yet to be harvested.
This exposes the lack of respect for property rights, a move that is reminiscent of the 2000 chaotic land reform programme where war veterans and Zanu-PF supporters violently grabbed farms.
The latest farm invasion is also likely to scuttle advanced plans to set up a manufacturing plant for maize shelling and an assembling plant for ambulances.
The Concession Magistrates Court ordered that: “Both parties are ordered to maintain peace against each other pending the finalisation of the matter.”
The farm battle has been raging and Muchenje once wrote to Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs minister Monica Mavunga raising corruption allegations against Lands ministry officials.
He explained that Amandas Estates was partitioned to give Choruma without following due process.
Under normal circumstances, the provincial lands committee was supposed to assess the farm and then grant Muchenje an opportunity to make presentations before a decision to downsize the farm is recommended to the Lands minister.
Muchenje then wrote to Mavhunga raising corruption allegations in the subdivision of his land, part of which (subdivision 5) is being taken by Choruma.
“This anomaly is easily illustrated on the map that I have attached to this letter. Plot 5 is forged between Plot 2 and 3. Honourable minister (Mavhunga) may you kindly look into this issue and investigate the corrupt creation of plots 5 and 8,” wrote Muchenje.
A Lands ministry official said the partitioned land on Plot 5 was “non-existent land because it currently belongs to Plot 3 on the maps. Clearly, there are some numbering discrepancies that should be questioned in a competent court of law. Any numbering/replanning requires the authority of the minister.”
Sources told the Independent that if the battle over Amandas Estate continued, the matter was likely to be handled by the Zimbabwe Land Commission (ZLC).
The ZLC has been conducting audits of over 300 000 farms after teams of enumerators were deployed late last year.
Farm underutilisation and disputes are some of the major factors that have tainted the land reform programme.

A standard loaf of bread now costs $640, up from $450, or US$2.10 using the foreign exchange auction rate, piling more misery on Zimbabweans grappling with price hikes.
During the inclusive government, bread was retailing at less than US$1.
Bread had been in short supply before yesterday’s price increase, with bakeries refusing to sell the product in Zimbabwe dollars due to lack of confidence in the local currency.
Millers have attributed the bread price hike to constraints in the supply of wheat that have been caused by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Confederation of Retailers Association Denford Mutashu said the bread price was reflective of the prevailing inflationary environment in the economy.
“This has been caused by the unrelenting parallel market rate. It has caused pressure on the cost of doing business,” Mutashu said.
“The general public are no longer affording the basic commodities.
“There is now need for the private and public sector to raise salaries as workers cannot go into a supermarket and come out with a basket of all the basic commodities.”
Zanu PF aligned pressure groups such as the Progressive and Patriotic Citizens of Zimbabwe (PAPCOZ) said unrelenting price hikes would drive Zimbabweans to take to the streets in protest.
“The citizens and consumers of Zimbabwe under PAPCOZ note with grave concern the appalling and unjustified increase in commodity prices,” PAPCOZ said.
“We shall also push for the seizure of licenses of those businesses that are found on the wrong side of the law.”
Last year, government embarked on a name and shame operation targeting companies and individuals accused of fuelling the galloping foreign currency parallel exchange rate.
Zimbabweans have been hard hit by the rising prices of basic commodities and services, as the local currency continues on a free-fall with inflation also going up.
Inflation recently raced to 131.7%, from 96.4% recorded in April. Standard
The recently announced fees pegged US$22 at Grade 7, US$24 per subject at ‘O’ level and US$48 per subject at ‘A’ level, are not only exorbitant and unjustified, but also callous, punitive and a monument of Zimbabwean injustice. At any rate they are not different from the recently social media peddled exam fees except that the latest exam fees are in US$s. With the current US$ exchange rate sky rocketing even in official exchange rate, there is no doubt that by the due date of exam fees, 22 July 2022, US$1 could be more than $500. With such exorbitant exam fees, there is little doubt, if any, that many candidates from poor families would not be able to pay the fees. For political expediency gvt purports to pay part of the fees, when it is common knowledge that it doesnt pay Zimsec any examination fees. At any rate the exam fees would be paid over a short period of time (22-29 July) an issue that would also affect the number of candidates that are likely to register at ‘O’ level.
We have also witnessed a quantum leap of the decline of ‘O’ level candidates from more than 332000 in 2017 to about 240000 in 2021. With the exorbitant examination fees in forex, the number of candidates is likely to drop to less than 200000.
The pegging of examination fees in US$ is further justification to teachers’ call for the restoration of their purchasing power parity of their salaries at US$540 as before October 2018. The gvt of Zimbabwe must mellow down to a more constructive approach permeable to reason and facts. This is the same gvt that promises free education every election time, only to betray this noble promise after elections. Gvt must realise that children are the best asset that a nation has and therefore invest in quality public education, including writing of examination by majoritarian students. We cannot pride in cold and calculated educational vandalism, in which education has become a preserve of the rich, and neither can we pride in high drop out rate of children from schools that is certainly a time bomb. Education must remain a vital cog of our communal and national development, and so likewise must be prioritisation of paying teachers a living wage.

SONGSTRESS Pauline Gundidza has claimed she is yet to get any payment for her contribution to her ex-husband Roki’s song Shine Like a Star (Nyeredzi).
Shine like a star was recorded under Passion Java Records, and is one of the many songs that has re-ignited Roki’s career which looked like it had faded.
The song which brings out the nostalgic feeling of the urban grooves era, was released together with a video in September last year.
Speaking in an interview on Star FM, Pauline said she has done collaborations where she would not get financial benefits for her efforts.
“I didn’t really get paid for my efforts on Shine Like a Star. I am not happy with what happened when we made Shine Like a Star. Things didn’t go the way we had planned,” she said.
Roki’s manager Tobias Matavikwa directed The Standard Style to Passion Java Records whom he said owned the song.
“The song belongs to Passion Java Records, they are the ones who brought the two artists (Roki and Pauline) together. They are the best people to talk to,” he said.
Efforts to get a comment from Passion Java Records Boss Lashan were fruitless as he did not respond to questions sent on his mobile phone.
Pauline went on to reveal that she was also allegedly duped by artists such as Stunner and Maskiri during their urban grooves era.
Pauline said she did not get anything for her contributions on Maskiri’s NaMwari remix and also on a song with Stunner.
“When we started music, there was no framework and we were duped a lot.
“We were made to work for free in the name of exposure and it would bring a lot of infighting within the group (Mafriq). We were used by many promoters and producers who would not give us royalties and rights to our music,” she said.
“Myself and my friends Tererai and Buhle have a problem that we need to address as we have a lot of our male counterparts who used us on choruses and never gave us anything, for us it was the love of music.
“For example Stunner on the song Song Yangu, he never gave me anything. He brought the concept but I have never received any royalties from the song. Even when the song was still a hit, he would go and perform the song alone. He went on to sell the song to a corporate and I did not get a cent.
“Also on NaMwari by Maskiri, I didn’t get a cent, I also wrote part of the concept of Aiyaho by Roki and I didn’t get a cent. Back then the industry was not formal, and had no structure and the clever ones saw business opportunities and made money from our talents. Now that I know I have recently declared all my works to Zimura so that I get royalties.”
Pauline also revealed that she is in a stable relationship and was planning on getting married, dismissing rumours that she is back with her ex-husband Roki after they had worked on Shine Like a Star.
Pauline and Roki were a teen celebrity couple during the early days of urban grooves.
They married at the age of 19 and their union gave birth to two kids, Sky and Minana.–Standard

Legendary former Dynamos captain Memory Mucherahowa believes the Harare Derby between the Glamours Boys and city rivals CAPS United, has lost its flare and is no longer the exhilarating contest it used to be.
The two sides meet at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday with three points and bragging rights on offer.
Mucherahowa said any game pitting the two foes would put the capital to a standstill in the past but that is no longer the case because the clash is not as interesting as it was before.
Speaking to Soccer24 from his base in Slough, United Kingdom, Mucherahowa said: “Look, during our days, we would play every other game before the derby wholeheartedly but truth be told, we would be waiting for the game against CAPS United.
“That is the game everybody, including the supporters, would be waiting for. We would know the date of that game, a month before. We would play any other game, preparing for the Harare derby.
“I’m not sure if that is still the case with the current crop of players. Back in the day, we couldn’t afford to lose that game.”
He added: “Maybe the current crop of players feel the same way about the derby, but to us who will be watching, it’s now very different, it has simply lost its glare.
Mucherahowa tips his beloved Dynamos to win the game but warned against complacency.
” With the way things are at the moment, to be honest, I foresee Dynamos collecting maximum points but the Dembare players shouldn’t relax, CAPS might rise to the occasion simply because of the derby,” he said.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

By A Correspondent- A Chipinge businessman was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he severely assaulted and injured a Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer who allegedly dated one of his eight wives.
Edmore Mwoyongewenyu (42) popularly known as Doda was arrested last Thursday for assaulting Shepherd Makwenjere (22), a soldier.
Mwoyongewenyu allegedly pointed a pistol at Makwenjere and had him handcuffed and his legs tied before unleashing 10 hired thugs on the soldier.
The businessman reportedly hired 10 hired men armed with iron bars and batons who severely assaulted Makwenjere, who is stationed at the Zimbabwe National Army 1.2 Battalion in Hwange.
Makwenjere is admitted at Victoria Chitepo Hospital in Mutare where he is in a serious condition.
Mwoyongewenyu has more than eight wives including Naume Makuyana (20) who was allegedly dating Makwenjere.
The businessman, who reportedly owns a fleet of trendy cars and several upmarket houses in Chipinge, is also married to Makuyana’s elder sister Evidence (23).
Allegations are that on 28 May 2022, at around 6 PM Makwenjere of House number 4180 Gaza E Chipinge proceeded to Doda’s homestead to see Naume who had invited him over the phone.
Makwenjere met Makuyana outside the house and was led into the bedroom.
A few minutes later, Doda entered the bedroom in the company of Mapuranga and Mazuku.
It was further alleged that Doda was armed with a pistol while the rest were armed with iron bars, a baton, handcuffs and a sjambok.
Doda allegedly pointed a pistol at Makwenjere and instructed him to lie down while Mazuku handcuffed him.
They also used a rope to tie Makwenjere’s hands and legs. They also tied him to some logs and then severely assaulted him.
It is alleged that the suspects assaulted the complainant for two hours. Doda is also alleged to have added salt to the fresh wounds on the complainant’s back and buttocks.
A ZNA Infantry Battalion vehicle later came and collected Makwenjere and ferried him to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
Makuyana’s brother, Artwel Makuyana told Chipinge Times that Doda is married to his two sisters, Evidence (23) and Naume. He said:
Doda is married to my two sisters Evidence and Naume. Evidence has been married for seven years now and Naume got married in 2018.
THE ruling Zanu-PF has castigated a vocal United Kingdom lawmaker Jonathan Oates (Lord Oates), a British Liberal Democrat politician and member of the House of Lords, accusing him of being undemocratic and hobnobbing with the Zimbabwean opposition in pursuit of a regime change agenda.
Oates has been one of the many UK lawmakers who have consistently criticised President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime, accusing the government of violating human rights and failing to observe the rule of law.
The UK lawmaker has also accused the government of targeting the opposition through arbitrary arrests while shrinking the democratic space but his position has angered the ruling Zanu-PF which described him on Wednesday as undemocratic.
“He is not democratically elected himself. He is a Lord by heredity,” Zanu-PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa said.
“The opposition likes those people who are deviants in society. Why choose those friends? Spare us the Lord Oates of this world who are not democratic themselves,” Mutsvangwa added.
Oates recently told the Zimbabwean government to respect and uphold the country’s constitution or else it remains a subject of international scrutiny.
This came as Zimbabwe recently told the UK and United States officials to stop meddling in Zimbabwe’s internal affairs.
The British lawmaker recently triggered debate in the House of Lords on Zimbabwe’s alleged failure to uphold the constitution and respect human rights while also accusing Zanu-PF of actively undermining the country’s main opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC).
Mutsvangwa recently said Oates was a political toddler suffering from colonial hangover, saying he was an intelligence agent during his days in Zimbabwe under the guise of being a teacher.
But Oates dismissed Mutsvangwa’s allegations as desperate lies, insisting he was a teacher in rural Zimbabwe in the 1980s.
Oates has raised several issues of concern on Zimbabwe in the House of Commons including the Private Voluntary Organisations (PVOs) Amendment Bill and the proposed Patriotic Bill that he said will further shrink the democratic space under Mnangagwa.
The UK has imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe over human rights abuses including the August 2018 shootings and the January 2019 fuel protests killings that saw Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) boss Isaac Moyo, former Presidential Guard commander now Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Tanzania Anselem Sanyatwe and former State Security minister Owen Ncube being placed under sanctions.- Bulawayo24

By Justice Shereni | My message is premised on the fact that our beloved country is in a mess from all angles, economically, politically, socially, spiritually, morally, you name it and on the assumption that as a people we are committed to urgently find a way of coming out of it. We have come up with so many blue prints of how we can extricate ourselves from these myriad of problems but we have not succeeded.
It is not debatable that over 90% of our problems are tied to our contested political social contract which is the elephant in our room. What it then means is that we should focus our attention on this elephant. As a people, we have been rendered powerless and insignificant by a few through state capture. All state institutions have been captured but I will dwell on the Police, the State Security Services, the Military, Correctional and Prison Service and the Judiciary. In a normal country, these are the institutions which keep citizens safe but in our country they do the opposite. They do not only fail to protect the people but are used to rape, torment and kill the citizens who try to hold the authorities to account.
In the absence of functioning institutes which can protect the people, what can the citizens do?
The answer is that, citizens stop relying on those institutions on matters in which the state is the perpetrator, like abductions, disappearances, rape, torture and beating of those in state custody.
If one of us is being arrested, we will demand those who are arresting them to properly identify themselves, if they can’t, we will not allow them to take one of us away. If there are no many people around to stop the abduction or disappearance, we will quickly organise ourselves in large numbers and demand the immediate release of our member or else they incarcerate all of us. They will release our member because they will realise that we are serious and after all, they do not have the capacity to contain all of us. I understand that this has already worked for Makomborero Haruzivishe when they tried to abduct him at night.
In order for us to reach this level of unit and organisation we need to stop being selfish. The mentality that what is happening next door does not concern me or it will not affect me has to stop. We need a total culture change. The fact of the matter is that if you allow the abductor to take away your neighbour while you watch, it will be a matter of time before they come back for you or one of your family members. The best way of stopping this from happening to you or your loved ones is to fight and stop it from happening to your neighbour. I guess to arrive at this stage of awareness and consciousness, our people need leadership direction and mass conscientisation.
I have stated that our national institutions have been captured by a few political elites. They will remain captured as long as we do not take a bold stance to free them. How do we free them? The answer again is in the masses’ numbers and unity of purpose. Together, if we show the people in those institutions that we will not accept and tolerate the partisan way in which they execute their duties, they will begin to be professional. The majority of people who are employed in these institutions are also secretly and silently yearning for a better Zimbabwe and they are ready to stand with a determined people fighting to break from the past.
People naturally find it easy to go with where power is centred. It explains why nine or ten Zanu PF provinces voted to kick out Emmerson Mnangagwa out of the party and to only vote him to take the leadership of the party two weeks later after the coup. Morgan Tsvangirayi was revered and had massive influence in the early 2000s because he had the power to mobilise the people for demonstrations and stay aways. In Malawi, the judges ended up upholding the constitution of that country and ordering a rerun of the presidential plebiscite because they realised that the masses were determined to make sure that democracy prevailed. In 2018, during the election presidential result appeal, the judges in Zimbabwe got away with passing a skewed judgement because they knew they would get away with it. They will do it again come 2023, unless the citizens say enough is enough. I agree with Simba Chikanza that instead of waiting for 2023, let us start now demanding our rights as citizens. We have lost too many people through state managed disappearances and abductions in the past and we can not continue like that. My appeal to our progressive political, church and civic society leaders is that, please mobilise and organise our people to demand the immediate release of Moreblessing Ali now or else they will have to incarcerate us all.

By- Outspoken Norton lawmaker Temba Mliswa has said that he had in good authority that Local Government Minister July Moyo was planning to overthrow Emerson Mnangagwa.

Fading politicians, who have tried to extort Sport, Arts and Recreation Minister Tino Machakaire without success, are now going after the firebrand youthful leader peddling falsehoods about his political and social life in a bid to bring him down.
The politicians, some who have been visiting his offices requesting for money, have sought the assistance of out of sorts Zimbabwe socialite Tatelicious (real name Tatenda Karigambe) in trying to tarnish Machakaire’s image.
Tatelicious, who is based abroad, has a penchant of tarnishing people’s images without profferring evidence yesterday claimed Cde Machakaire was bedding a number of socialites including Mai TT and Anna Honde.
Tatelicious even claimed that Machakaire had tried her luck on Bona Mugabe.
She didn’t give evidence to back her claims.
Both Mai TT and Bona yesterday dismissed the claims as “rubbish”.
According to sources privy to the goings on in the revolutionary party, Honourable Machakaire had become a “cash-cow” for fading politicians before the politicians pulled a stop to the demands of most of them.
“There are several senior politicians who survived on handouts from young politicians who have vibrant businesses, so when they don’t get what they used to get, it becomes a problem. So senior politicians will try by all means to discredit you,” said one politician on condition of anonymity.
Another source believes Machakaire is being targeted as a lot of blackmailing has been happening since the ZANU PF youth league conference and now they are engaging socialites to discredit him.
“You might want to understand why socialites such as Tatelecious have joined the bandwagon to smear the character of Hon Machakaire, it’s all sponsored by those who hate the rise of young politicians,” said the source.
From the sources, the campaign against Hon Machakaire is completely vengeance by fellow comrades who have nothing to depend on except politics.
The Deputy Minister of Sports Arts and recreation Honourable Tino Machakaire said he had no time to sanitize lies”I have a lot of serious things to deal with than responding to nonsense,” he curtly said.
By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF has confirmed growing fissures within the party ahead of the December elective congress while warning those using money in their plot to challenge the party leader that they will be dealt with.
Party spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa says Emmerson Mnangagwa is the party’s sole candidate for the 2023 elections while warning any plotters that they will not succeed to topple the strongman.
Some party members say there was an agreement between Mnangagwa and Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga following the November 2017 military coup that the Zanu leader will serve only one term before handing over power to his deputy who played a crucial role in his rise to power. Mutsvangwa’s political warnings confirm that there is disharmony in the cockpit.
“He (Mnangagwa) is allowed two terms according to the constitution and the ruling party has endorsed him as sole candidate (ahead of the 2023 elections),” Mutsvangwa said.
“Zanu-PF is united behind him and organs of the party have endorsed him. The Women’s League conference is around the corner and will also likely endorse him.”
Mutsvangwa said Mnangagwa deserved a second term as he has managed to win the hearts of investors, particularly during his trip to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum that the Zanu-PF spokesperson described as “the United Nations of business”.
“Investors want certainty and he had this to offer in Davos,” Mutsvangwa said.
Mutsvangwa accused speculators of working to effect regime change in Zimbabwe, but he immediately warned that their scheming will flop.
“Speculators are thinking they can succeed where the opposition failed, where the trade unions failed. The President has weathered the storm. The economy is good and why only the currency?”
“We are winning that war. We won back our land and every war we have won, now we are left with the currency war,” he said.
Mnangagwa’s loyalists have already sharpened knives against those perceived to be working with Chiwenga, accusing them of plotting to challenge the Zanu-PF leader in the elective December congress.
Chiwenga is accused by Mnangagwa loyalists of working with exiled former political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere and other former party stalwarts to dislodge the strongman ahead of the 2023 elections.
Already, party divisions have been shown in the party’s youth league and this weekend’s provincial women’s league elections that have divided the party further as bigwigs line up their preferred choices Mutsvangwa has already insisted that all the organs are rallying behind Mnangagwa despite insiders saying some in the party had launched a whisper campaign calling for an elective congress where the party leader should be challenged.
Kasukuwere is accused of working with Sybeth Musengezi to challenge Mnangagwa’s rise to the helm of Zanu-PF following a coup in 2017 that led to the ouster of the late former President Robert Mugabe.
Musengezi is now under siege after he was arrested last week before he was granted bail for allegedly using a fake home address upon joining Zanu-PF.
He said ever since his release, he has been under the weather and has also been accosted by unknown assailants suspected to be state agents.
“They put me in jail, threatened, intimidated, inhumanely treated and harassed me and those close to me so as to break my spirit and force me into submission but that’s not going to happen,” he said on microblogging site Twitter.
“Mnangagwa has to respect us, this country belongs to us all not him and his associates alone. They wanted my current physical address and as much information they can get on me through the so-called “profiling” so they can put me under surveillance, follow, harass or make a raid on me anytime they want.”
There are fears, which were confirmed by women’s league boss Mabel Chinomona recently during a meeting at party headquarters, that a faction and some individuals were using money to infiltrate structures for their own sinister agendas.
This was in apparent reference to the G40 cabal that some within the ruling party suspect was working with Chiwenga.-Newshawks
By A Correspondent- Mazowe South Member of Parliament Fortune Chasi (ZANU PF) has castigated corrupt council officials at Mazowe Rural District Council (MRDC) who are allegedly getting protection from Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe.
Speaking at a provincial clean up campaign in Glendale today Chasi told Minister of State for Mashonaland Central province Senetor Monica Mavhunga that Kazembe’s allies were buying luxurious cars from graft stands.
“Resident Minister we are now taking advantage of your presence here to air out our griviences, people here have no place of residents and they are crowded there by living like rats,” Chasi said.
“Some of the Mercedes Benz you see here were bought out of corruption of stands and as an MP I will fight until people get residential stands.
Chasi is one the ZANU PF leaders in Mazowe who is fighting the alleged corrupt Kazembe faction.
Recently 11 MRDC employees linked to Kazembe were suspended after they illegally dished out stands to Kazembe’s supporters.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) allegedly investigated the matter and left the investigations report to the council authority without explaining to the public the out come of their investigations as they reportedly feared to apprehend Home Affairs Minister’s allies.
By A Correspondent- More than US$20 million was illegally moved out of the country’s borders in murky deals involving blacklisted diamond dealer Jamal Ahmed in an opaque sale of one million carats of diamonds from the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) recently.
The matter is now subject to an active investigation by authorities following a damning report by whistle-blowers on the illicit financial flows rocking the diamond sector.
The externalisation scandal is being laid bare only a few weeks after the Zimbabwe Independent first reported that Ahmed dribbled past authorities to buy the gems using a relative as he is blacklisted.
Ahmed was once locked in a fierce court battle with former first lady Grace Mugabe over a US$1,5 million diamond ring.
But fresh details gathered by the Independent in recent weeks make startling revelations as some of the money from the diamond auction was never sent to Harare.
However, investigators are perusing documents, which show that some papers were stamped confirming that the money was brought to Zimbabwe although more details suggest it did not.
High level government investigators said funds were secured locally from known externalisers, who would then get their money in offshore accounts with Ahmed allegedly getting a 3-5% commission.
Banking documents and deposit slips in our possession show that some of the funds were jointly deposited into the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) bank accounts allegedly by Diamore DMCC and NRTS on March 23, 2022. At the Agribank branch, about US$3,5 million was paid in batches of US$2,3 million (US$100 notes); US$1,3 million (US$50 notes); US$990 000 (US$20 notes); US$1,5 million (US$10 notes); US$5 000 (US$5 notes); while US$1 000 was paid in US$1 notes.
Another deposit of about US$8 million was made at CBZ Bank on March 11, 2022, with almost identical notes and by the same depositor.
The quantum of the smaller notes deposited by the two companies allegedly linked to Ahmed raised eyebrows in government corridors, prompting an investigation into the matter.
“Some of the funds were deposited as US$10 notes and looking at the quantum of the funds, a serious suspicion emerged as to how the monies were transported from outside the country. There are strong indications that the funds were secured locally by people who wanted to externalise their funds to offshore accounts,” the source said.
“There is also suspicion that they were to get their cut deposited by the people behind these diamond buying companies who were eventually going to get 3% commission.
“That meant the country was selling diamonds at the same time losing about US$23 million through externalisation.
“The case is now subject to an investigation and one of the buyers NRTS is now afraid to set foot in the country and is claiming ignorance of what could have transpired,” the source added.
There are indications that the cash entry documents were stamped by customs officials after a suspected US$5 000 bribe. These stamps have been issued to the same customs official (name withheld), who is also under probe.
Indications are also that the last diamond buying firms allegedly linked to Ahmed had no documents from the country of origin to support that there was movement of money to Zimbabwe. This sparked suspicion that no money was brought into the country.
“There are reasonable grounds for an investigation and rather the dismissal of the MMCZ board and management for failure to do proper due diligence on the people buying diamonds,” another source said.
The last diamond sale was mired in controversy as the MMCZ board is failing to handle alleged malpractices around diamond sales.
Recently, 40 companies submitted bids and 15 were shortlisted but all the four parcels were won by two companies, Diamore DMCC (three parcels) and NRTS Diamonds Limited (one parcel). Each parcel was worth around US$14 million.
Sources say officials at the MMCZ then discovered that Diamore DMCC, which had won the three parcels allegedly had strong links to Ahmed.
There were reports that a relative to Ahmed was fronting one of the diamond buyers, triggering the intervention of authorities.
The Independent is further informed that the authorities then decided that the two companies should get one parcel each following the exposé on Ahmed while the other remaining two parcels will be re-tendered at the next sale.
There are allegations that against the norm, MMCZ also allowed the two buyers to pay in three instalments for each parcel.
“This is unheard of and the shocking thing is how they valued those diamonds, which were paid in instalments considering that a parcel will be intact. It is shocking how those valuations were made and it points to a need for an investigation,” a source close to the developments said.
There are further allegations that Diamore DMCC paid for all its diamonds in three instalments but NRTS only paid two instalments and the third is now subject to contestation after the NRTS client refused the third assortment citing quality issues.
That, according to sources, then opened a can of worms with further allegations that the client in question might have been Ahmed.
The scandal then reportedly triggered suspicion that NTRS might have selected gems from the parcel and paid for them leaving diamonds of poor quality, which according to sources, has sparked a rift between MMCZ and ZCDC.
Questions sent to Ahmed in writing had not been responded to. He did not respond to WhatsApp messages either.
Financial Intelligence Unit boss Oliver Chiperesa had not responded to questions sent to him by the time of going to print.
Ahmed was blacklisted this year from participating in the diamond auction as part of efforts to bust a diamond buying syndicate that had sucked in MMCZ.
Looking at the latest events, there are indications that there are officials within MMCZ who have strong relations with the diamond dealer who was recently threatened with deportation and imprisonment over his diamond dealings.
Sources further noted that there was a possibility of collusion at the auction of the diamonds which significantly enabled one buyer to exploit the market unfairly, resulting in the dealer enjoying an untenable monopoly over the country’s diamonds.
Ahmed has over the years alleged enjoyed the assistance of MMCZ top officials to the extent of buying all of the country’s diamond parcels. Ahmed has always denied the allegations citing that he was a clean buyer who just offered competitive bids.
The diamond trading industry in Zimbabwe has always been targeted by unscrupulous individuals with some accused of smuggling the precious mineral through Mozambique.
Three years ago, a Lebanese diamond dealer Hussein Robai was deported from Zimbabwe over allegations of illegal diamond dealings working in cahoots with former ZCDC executives.
The deportation of Robai came after there were consented efforts by officials at Foreign Affairs and ZCDC to protect the Lebanese. He was, however, deported only after the intervention of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
The Department of Immigration deported Robai over illegal diamond dealing convictions in India. He also faced allegations of diamond smuggling in the country

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe’s biggest platinum project, Darwendale, struggling to get off the ground for the past two years, has new challenges.
It is reported that a major stake held by a Russian tycoon is scaring off potential financiers for the $3 billion mine
According to a report by Zimbabwe’s Centre for Natural Resource Governance, initial development work on the Darwendale deposit began in early 2020, but operations at the project were soon halted because of a lack of capital.
The site has been abandoned since early last year.
Vitaliy Machitskiy’s Vi Holding, which has a 50% stake, is reportedly reluctant to continue investing after years of delays asking not to be identified as the talks aren’t public.
But Kuvimba Mining House Ltd., which owns 50% of the project and which the government says it controls, has been unable to attract fresh investment because European platinum buyers don’t want to enter into purchase agreements with an entity with Russian shareholders.
The fear of running up against sanctions stemming from Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine means it’s also harder to borrow money to develop the project.
Simba Chinyemba, Kuvimba’s chief executive officer told Bloomberg that the Darwendale project is “ongoing” and the mine plan is being remodelled. He added:
What I can tell you for a fact is that the project is going ahead.
Kuvimba and VI Holding each hold half of Great Dyke Investments Ltd., which owns the Darwendale deposit.
a). Darwendale has been tied to Russia since 2006, when former Zimbabwe president, Robert Mugabe, took the concession from a local unit of South Africa’s Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd. and handed it to Russian investors.
b). The first venture to try and tap the deposit was named Ruschrome Mining which included a state-owned mining company, the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corp., Russian defense conglomerate Rostec, Vnesheconombank and Vi Holding.
c). The venture later became Great Dyke, and Vi Holding remained the sole investor from Russia.
d). Machitskiy, who was born in Irkutsk in Siberia, is a childhood friend of Sergey Chemezov, chief executive of Rostec and close ally of President Vladimir Putin, with whom he once worked in Germany. Chemezov is sanctioned by the US, EU and UK.
Darwendale, if built, could potentially produce 860 000 ounces of platinum group metals a year and the deposit could be exploited for four decades, Great Dyke has said.
Output was initially expected to begin in 2021, but there are more challenges in addition to Russian links and a lack of capital.
i). Zimbabwe’s government says it controls Kuvimba, but its assets, including the stake in Great Dyke, are the same as those owned until at least late 2020 by Sotic International Ltd., a company linked to Kudakwashe Tagwirei.
Tagwirei is sanctioned by the US and UK governments over corruption allegations.
ii). The government hasn’t said how it acquired the assets or disclosed the identities of the private shareholders who own the 35% of Kuvimba not held by the state.
iii). Impala snubbed an approach from Great Dyke because it was concerned about its ownership, people familiar with the situation said in February.
iv). That opacity of its ownership has also complicated relations between Great Dyke’s shareholders.
v). The Centre for Natural Resource Governances said the project has also been hampered by “mismanagement and mistrust,”

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president, Nelson Chamisa, claims that the army is now fed up with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and is ready to replace him in the coming 2023 elections.
Addressing party supporters during a thank you rally for CCC Kwekwe MP, Judith Tobaiwa, on Sunday, Chamisa said Mnangagwa’s days at State House were numbered.
“What I want to tell you today is that Mnangagwa is gone. Come 2023, we will be the ruling party while Zanu-PF will be the opposition,” Chamisa said.
“Everywhere we are going in the country, people are speaking about change.
“Change is on the horizon and the country is ready for change.
“Civil servants are saying I must take the reigns of power. The students, ordinary citizens, and the army are saying the same,” he said.
Chamisa added, “The army is prepared to ditch Mnangagwa in the coming elections.
“If we are to have an election today, I will have more support from the army than Mnangagwa,” he said.
Mnangagwa rose to State President on the back of a military coup in 2017, with then army commander and now Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga leading the former President Robert Mugabe’s takeover.
Chamisa said with the worsening economic situation, the army appears to be dissatisfied with Mnangagwa.
“We are preparing for the next government,” said Chamisa.
He added, Zanu-PF now no longer stands a chance in Matebeleland, and Manicaland provinces. “Our focus is now in Mashonaland Central. Change is imminent, change is coming.”
Chamisa said his party would not allow Mnangagwa a chance to rig the polls.
“This time around, no poll is going to be rigged.
” We are currently working on reforms and we are going to force reforms on Zanu-PF,” he said.
By-CCC youth leaders and Harare West MP, Joanna Mamombe and Cicilia Chimbiri were back in court Friday, where they exposed a police officer for lying.
Posing on social media, CCC said Mamombe and Chimbiri are true heroines:
Our Change champions are back in court again for the trial of publishing falsehoods. Witness number 3, a police officer, in Witness stand says he was also manning the show ground roadblock on 13 May 2020

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) said it had removed the names of 32 010 dead people on the voters’ roll.
According to the state media, the list of the deceased persons was published in the Government Gazette under General Notice 1197 of 2022 by the chief elections officer, Mr Utloile Silaigwana.
“The names of those persons will be removed from the voters roll unless notice of appeal is given to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. By means of this notice, notification is made to any voter on the First Schedule who may be alive to lodge an objection at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Mahachi Quantum, 1, Nelson Mandela Avenue, corner Kaguvi Street and Jason Moyo Avenue, Harare, and at the respective Commission Provincial Offices, to the inclusion of his or her name in the First Schedule using the form prescribed in the Second Schedule no later than seven days from the date of publication of this notice,” Mr Silaigwana said.
In an interview, ZEC spokesperson Mr Jasper Mangwana said the electoral body adheres to its constitutional mandate and always removes names of dead people from the voters’ roll.
“The commission has always been gazetting names of the deceased persons to ensure that if there is any objection to the removal of these people from the voters’ roll it is brought to the attention of the Commission”.
He said this is a continuous process that the commission has always been doing when it receives a list of deceased persons from the Registrar General.
“We then check for those that are on the voters’ roll and we then advertise that if there is any objection considering that these days there are issues of identity theft. If someone objects to the removal of the deceased persons from the roll because they are alive, that is corrected.
“This is just the process the Commission does after the gazetting. If there’s no objection then the Commission will proceed to remove this person from the voters’ roll”.
With such due diligence followed, Mr Mangwana said issues around ghost voters are merely sideshows.
“How do they vote if they are not alive? Who is going to approach a polling station if they are dead? So the process is very clear and promotes the integrity of the voters roll”.
However, there are challenges for the Commission because not everyone is interested in obtaining a death certificate, thus in some instances the names of deceased persons might not be struck off from the voters’ roll.
“The Commission is allowing other stakeholders or relatives to bring to our attention deaths of individuals that can assist us to have a clean roll,” said Mr Mangwana.
By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Midlands Corby UK | Again history was made today when Corby town celebrated the Corby Poll Fair marking the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The sun is shining, the crowds were up with the larks and the Corby Pole Fair got under way without a hitch at 6am sharp.
The bells of St John the Baptist Church in Corby Old Village had been ringing since 5am to signal the start of the 2022 Corby Pole Fair.Hundreds of locals turned out to hear the first Charter Reading by the Parliament Stone outside the church. Rev Paul Frost – as is tradition – was given the honour of reading the Charter granted to the village in 1585 by Queen Elizabeth I.
Afterwards, Rev Frost, Zimbabwean born mayor Tafadwa Chikoto and the village’s oldest resident June Thomson were lifted aloft and carried through the streets of the village where the charter was again read outside the White Hart and in The Jamb.
The Pole Fair is a major community celebration, which took place today Friday 3rd June 2022. This date links the original granting of the Royal Charter to Corby by Queen Elizabeth I in 1585 with the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend, created to celebrate the long years of service by Queen Elizabeth II.
This unique tradition comes around only every 20 years, attracting large crowds to enjoy outdoor attractions, entertainment and of course, the reading of the Royal Charter at the three entrances to the village at dawn.
There are lots of historical stories associated with the Pole Fair, from its evolution as a small Viking settlement, to the right to hold fairs granted by King Henry III in 1226, and the story of why Elizabeth I granted the Corby Charter after an accident in a bog. This year’s event was telling these stories through a variety of engaging activities, including a pageant, a living history encampment as well as Open Days at Corby Heritage Centre for visitors to explore Pole Fair archives dating back to 1902.
There are numerous other traditions that take place at every fair, including floral gateways to the old village area of Corby, a greasy pole competition and a roast ox. Previous fairs have also included markets, performances, historical re-enactments and a large fun fair.
All visitors to Corby village are also expected to pay a small toll to enter the fair on the day, or risk ending up in the village stocks! The fair was being organised by a steering group of local volunteers and cultural organisations.
The Corby Pole Fair celebrates the granting of Corby’s Royal Charter in 1585 by Queen Elizabeth I as well as celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. There was a community breakfast, a picnic, music, dance, walkabout performers, a carnival parade, funfair and lots lots more!
Mayor Chikoto carried the Zimbabwean flag high as he was carried by four brave men around the Corby village to wild cheers and celebratory claps from the people.
As part of entertainment the
Academy students put on a spectacular pageant bringing to life the story of Corby’s charter.
The pupils told the tale of how Elizabeth I had an accident in woodland near Corby and was rescued by villagers. She later granted a charter to the village.
The play is from an original script by Elspeth Robb, written in 1947.
Corby is proud to have a diversity of leadership in its council.
Exiled minister Walter Mzembi says the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has a good chance of winning the 2023 polls, but its leadership lacks the courage of the late opposition supremo Morgan Tsvangirai.
He, however, told NewsDay in an interview with the Alpha Media Holdings editor-in-chief, Wisdom Mdzungairi, that Zanu-PF will not surrender power easily, and that the ruling party had “solid structures” to mount an effective campaign ahead of the polls.
“Can they (CCC) win? Yes, they can… The ground for that to happen is as fertile as it was in 2008, but they probably lack the courage of Tsvangirai. He was not a lawyer and, therefore, his calculation of risk was different,” Mzembi said.
“If you want to win a battle emphatically, you change battleground like the eagle when it is preying on a snake, it picks it up, spins it in the air where it has no balance. The current team love the courts, but then again they are lawyers, yet they forget who is in charge of the courts.”
The Nelson Chamisa-led CCC contested for the first in the March 26 by-elections after its launch in January and won 19 of
the contested 28 parliamentary seats. But Zanu-PF retained its rural constituencies.
Analysts said the polls were a precursor to the 2023 elections.
“A discipleship of lawyers in the executive can be a source of paralysis, but then again you have got to love their temerity, branding and unpredictability. On the other hand, Zanu-PF, in my estimation, is based on being battle-hardened, foxy and its mass mobilisation strategies often dismissed as vote-buying, particularly in rural areas, will not go without a real hard fight,” Mzembi added.
“Its presidential candidate may be older and less appealing, but it has solid structures that outperform its rivals, notwithstanding who leads.”
Mzembi also said the late President Robert Mugabe missed a “Mandela” moment by staying in power too long until he was ousted in 2017.
“Mugabe had all the intelligence on the impending events, but somehow he was in denial. He never imagined his liberation war colleagues would take him out by force given their journey back in the struggle together and how they had taken care of each other,” Mzembi said.
“On reflection, he also overstayed his welcome, and it’s a lesson to us all on legacy management. You got to leave when people still want you, but power is sweet, you really have to be a ‘Mandela’ to leave the stage after one term!”
Bulawayo giants Highlanders have appointed Brazilian Baltemar Jose De Oliveria Brito as their new head coach.
Bosso have been under assistant coach Joel Lupahla on an interim basis, following the sacking of Mandla ‘Lulu’ Mpofu after their abandoned league match against arch-rivals Dynamos last month.
“Highlanders Football Club is pleased to announce Baltemar Jose De Oliveira Brito as the new coach of the club’s first team, taking over from coach Mandla Mpofu who recently parted ways with the club on mutual consent,” reads a statement from the club.
“He will be in charge of the team up to December 2023.
“Brito is a UEFA Pro coaching license holder with vast experience, having worked as Jose Mourinho’s assistant coach at FC Porto in Portugal, Chelsea in England, and Inter Milan in Italy.
“Brito has won two UEFA Champions League titles, one UEFA Cup, two English Premier League titles, two Portuguese League titles, two Italian Championships, and one FA cup among other cups in his coaching career.
“Brito comes with an assistant coach Antonio Joao Martins Leao Torres from Portugal who is a holder of a UEFA B coaching
licence.
“The entire structure of the current technical team will be announced in due course. We wish the coaches the best of luck.
It was not confirmed whether the new coach will be in the dugout when Bosso host Harare City at Babourfields Stadium on Sunday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
