Know Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Health Talk

With Sandra Sadziwa

Ovarian cysts are solid or fluid-filled pockets in or on your ovary.

They’re common, especially in women who are pregnant or who haven’t gone through qmenopause yet. Most of the time, they’re painless and harmless.

You might get one every month as part of your menstrual cycle and never know it. They usually go away on their own without treatment.

A cyst becomes a problem when it doesn’t go away or gets bigger. It can become painful.

There’s also the possibility of cancer, but it’s rare. The chances go up as you get older.

Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Most ovarian cysts are small and don’t cause any problems.

When there are symptoms, you might have pressure, bloating, swelling, or pain in one side of your lower belly.

This pain may be sharp or dull, and it can come and go.

Sudden, severe belly pain

Pain with fever and throwing up

Dizziness, weakness, or feeling faint

Fast breathing

These things could mean your cyst has caused the ovary to twist.

Ovarian Cyst Causes
Most cysts are “functional.”

They’re a part of your monthly cycle.

Types of Cysts Follicle cyst.

Your ovaries usually release one egg each month. It grows inside a tiny sac called a follicle.

When th HBe egg is ready, the follicle breaks open and releases it.

If the sac doesn’t open, it causes a follicle cyst. These often go away in 1 to 3 months.

Corpus luteum cyst.

Once the egg is released, the empty follicle usually shrinks and helps get ready for the next egg.

It becomes a cyst when it closes back up and fluid collects inside. It may go away in a few weeks. But it may bleed or cause pain as it grows.

Others are nonfunctional. In some women, their ovaries make a lot of small cysts.

This condition is called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

It can make it hard to get pregnant. Other nonfunctional cysts may be caused by cancer.

Ovarian Cyst Risk Factors

Things that may make you more likely to get ovarian cysts include:

Hormonal problems. Taking the fertility drug to help you ovulate can increase your risk of cysts.

Pregnancy

The cyst that forms during ovulation may stay on your ovary after you get pregnant and throughout your pregnancy.

Endometriosis. Cells that usually line the inside of your uterus grow outside it.

These wayward cells can attach to your ovary and cause a cyst to grow.

A severe pelvic infection. If this spreads to your ovaries, it can cause cysts there.

A previous ovarian cyst. If you’ve had at least one ovarian cyst before, you’re more likely to get others

Ovarian Cyst Complications

Some women can have unusual complications with ovarian cysts. Your doctor might pick these up during a pelvic exam, so it’s important to get regular checkups.

Ovarian torsion. If cysts grow large, they can make the ovary move and twist.

This twisting (ovarian torsion) is very painful.
Rupture.

Cysts can break open, causing severe pain and bleeding, especially if the cysts are large. Vaginal sex and other activities can make a rupture more likely.

A ruptured cyst sometimes heals on its own, but often, it’s a medical emergency.
Infected ovarian cyst. An ovarian cyst can develop in response to a pelvic infection, forming an abscess. If the abscess bursts, dangerous bacteria can spread through your body.

Ovarian Cyst Treatment

Most cysts go away on their own. Your doctor may suggest watching and waiting for changes.

Your doctor can give you medicine for pain. They might also prescribe birth control pills.

The hormones in the pills won’t make the cysts go away, but they can help prevent new ones.

Some ovarian cysts need surgery. That includes those that are large, don’t go away, or cause symptoms.

You could also need surgery if you’re near menopause, because cysts are more likely to be cancerous.

Depending on your case, the surgeon may take just the cyst or the entire ovary.

There are different types of surgery:

Laparoscopy is for smaller cysts. The doctor makes a tiny cut above or below your bellybutton.

A small tool with a camera allows your doctor to see inside, and a different tool removes the cyst or ovary. You probably won’t have to stay in hi the hospital overnight.

Laparotomy is for cysts that may be cancerous. It is done with a bigger cut in the belly.

Don’t Expect Government To Create Jobs For You- Makandiwa

United Family International Church (UFIC) founder and leader Emmanuel Makandiwa said that Zimbabweans should not expect President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to create jobs for them.

Addressing a church service in Chitungwiza on Saturday which was also attended by Mnangagwa, first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Makandiwa said the Government’s role is to create an environment for individuals to prosper. He said:

It is never the responsibility of the Government to create jobs for you. The creation of an environment is their responsibility so that you and I prosper and we have that opportunity in Zimbabwe.

Scores Injured As Fight For Control Of Church Gets Out Of Hand

A fight erupted at Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church headquarters in Wedza, Mashonaland East on Friday as the battle for the control of the sect rages on.

The sect has been embroiled in bitter wars following the death of leader and founder Thadeu Mugodhi in 2019.

In 2019, one Tonny Sigauke who claimed to be the rightful heir, according to the church constitution, dragged the late Mugodhi’s son Washington to court for clinging on to the throne.

Sigauke also filed another application stating that Aaron Munodawafa was the substantive bishop of the church with him as the deputy.

In September, 2021, High Court judge Justice Esther Muremba ruled Sigauke does not have authority to represent the church while Washington’s appointment was declared null and void.

Since then, the fight for the control of the church between Washington and Munodawafa has been raging.

On Friday, church members wielding, iron bars and stones clashed as they sought to take control of the shrine for the annual passover service.

Both camps were recently given access to the church buildings pending a court outcome on the legitimate leader of the shrine.

The spokesperson of Munodawafa camp, Reverend Mike Mukarati said the fight started after they were denied access to the church building to conduct morning prayers.

“We gathered together as a group and moved to enter the building.

“They hired hooligans, some with dreadlocks calling themselves security from Washington’s camp and denied us access.

“Suddenly, they started throwing stones, sharp objects, and logs into a crowded congregation injuring more than 20, some seriously.

“We retreated when we realised there were bound to be fatalities.

“Police arrived 30 minutes later and statements were taken and the injured were rushed to St Mary’s hospital in Wedza.”

Mugodhi and Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Simon Chazovachi were not available for comment yesterday.

A few months ago, violent clashes occurred at the same shrine during a gathering known as Synod resulting in malicious damage to property including the church building.

More than 15 congregants were arrested and charged with assault among other charges.

Washington had brought bouncers to block the Munodawafa faction, but they were overpowered by the congregants who went on a rampage destroying church property.

The bouncers had their hands tied and assaulted before police were called to quell the violence.

The factions are both claiming total control of the perceived holy ground – The Standard

Must CCC Go Attend Independence And Endorse Mnangagwa As President?

Below are comments by former Harare mayor, Mayor Ben Manyenyeni over tomorrow’s Emmerson Mnangagwa run Independence celebrations | We are reading the story that opposition “leaders” have been invited to this year’s Independence Day celebrations.

  1. There is effectively ONE opposition leader in the land – and he has the trickiest choice to make, if indeed invited.
  2. Our Independence Day has hardly been used for nation-building but rather to parade the Presidency and rulership.

On many occasions it has been a platform for ripping the country apart with partisan rhetoric

  1. Nationhood must ideally be courted elsewhere before being “paraded” as genuine.

Presenting one nation when clearly there is no such unity voids the day and the invitation.

  1. The language of these State occasion speeches is unpredictable and partisan pronouncements are common.

For five mayoral years I attended, lonely, as “one-ari-ega” opposition face at these events.

I would only sigh with relief at the end of the events – if no toxicity was spewed.

But, however, in that tour of duty experience I met some real compatriots – warmly and sincerely – sharing oneness and brotherhood at such occasions.

I think the GNU days also had such positives.

  1. The resurgence of the change movement may also be reason why this move has been made: to neutralise or to recognise
  2. Not sure what unifying dress code is proposed for the event.

Yellow has been banned in Parliament

Then there would be safety and security issues for yellow leaders and supporters.

Former Black Rhinos Midfielder Dies

Former Black Rhinos player Nigel Muchadeyi has died.

He was 28.

The midfielder played for Rhinos in the Premier Soccer League and when the team was in Division One in 2016.

Details surrounding Muchadeyi’s death are still sketchy at this moment but club Secretary General Colonel Edward Mutukwa confirmed the news.

“It is with deep sadness that the entire Black Rhinos FC family has received the death of Nigel ‘Majabvi’ Muchadeyi,” Mutukwa said.

“A fine footballer who played an instrumental role in making sure Black Rhinos FC was promoted from Division 1 into the Premier League in 2016. This was after our ZNA flagship team was at relegated into the Division 1 league in 2015.

“It is unfortunate that the young man passed away at critical time in his life and career. So sad indeed, MHDSREP, we say zorora murugare.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Dudula Leader Unmasked

Nhlanhla “Lux” Mohlauhi (also Dlamini) has been churning up anti-foreigner sentiment and bursting into people’s homes like a vigilante, instilling fear and panic in refugee and immigrant communities.

Mohlauhi found his 15 seconds of fame on 13 July 2021 after posting a video of himself on Facebook when the riots and looting that had gripped KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng had spread to Soweto.

“Defend the township economy and the elephant at the centre, which is Maponya Mall … They will never breach the mall, it will be over my dead body; this can be my last day…” he declared.

The post caught fire. Mohlauhi was cast as a township warrior, a hero of eKasi, a fresh young guard, at last, rising to take a stand against looters, criminals and lawlessness.

But a month earlier Mohlauhi had been making sparks with a “clean-up” project in Soweto aimed at shutting down businesses run by foreign shop owners that his group deemed illegal. Mohlauhi was at the helm of the group organised under the banner of Operation Dudula (“beat back” in isiZulu).

Mohlauhi has since lapped up the limelight of television and radio interviews, and his ever-growing social media followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, but has played a cat-and-mouse game over the past five months with Daily Maverick journalists who have been trying to interview him about the increasingly violent actions triggered by Operation Dudula’s anti-foreigner rhetoric and raids.

The current surge of xenophobic hatred led to the murder of Zimbabwean gardener and father of four, Elvis Nyathi (43) on 8 April. Nyathi was killed in Diepsloot by a mob going door to door demanding to see visas. They drove him out from his hiding place, beat him and burnt his body.

The feast of low-hanging fruit

Operation Dudula’s tactics have been to work as a mob, demanding that people produce documents to prove their identity and legal status in the country. Those who cannot comply are detained by the mob, supposedly to hand over to police for deportation.

Operation Dudula has in the past 10 months become a fast-growing movement. It bills itself as a group of citizens with a mission to “Put South Africans first. Only legal immigrants in SA”.

It has shown signs of significant growth in the past few months with branches being established across Joburg, but it’s also known to bus supporters in to gatherings. During its launch in Jeppestown on 19 March, the group descended on four companies: Hersol Laboratories, BMG, Disappeared Anodes and Sharp Centre. They also targeted restaurants in Maboneng and demanded that these companies only employ South Africans.

The movement is marked by loose organisational and membership structures as well as high social media visibility and activity – two elements that supercharge proliferation and replication.

The movement has muscle in the form of the Put South Africa First campaign, which includes the Alexandra Dudula Movement, the All Truck Drivers Foundation and the disbanded MKMVA – the uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association.

Then there’s also an open invitation to the feasting table groaning with the lowest of low-hanging fruits: open season to take aim at a failing ANC government and blaming the day-to-day realities of joblessness, scarce resources being spread even more thinly, soaring crime and a drug dependency crisis on undocumented foreigners.

Operation Dudula’s rapid rise to prominence off the back of outsiders as scapegoats has to be framed within the fallout of Covid-19 deaths and lockdown. The Social Economic Rights Institute (SERI) noted in February: “The devastating impact of the pandemic in the past two years has seen people from all walks of life being pushed into poverty. The informal sector continues to face the harsh reality of economic and political woes.

“In recent weeks the informal sector, which was the hardest hit by the prolonged lockdown compounded by policy neglect, is now being subjected to unlawful, discriminatory, and politically motivated conduct orchestrated by some political parties under the pretext of protecting employment for vulnerable South Africans.”

Operation Dudula’s promise that “now it’s the turn for South Africans to eat” has driven up its Facebook member numbers. Its public membership groups on the platform have just a few hundred members but it’s in the private groups that the action happens: these groups each have tens of thousands of members. A request  to join any one of these groups returns a warning by Facebook that content on the group violates its community standards.

Slippery Mohlauhi backpedals

Publicly, Mohlauhi seems at pains to say “that they are fighting crime and operating within the boundary of the law”. So he would be best placed to explain why content on Operation Dudula’s Facebook groups would be considered offensive. He could also answer and clear up the gossip, red flags and gaps in his story that have been swirling since he started making headlines and becoming a trending hashtag.

Alas – but not unexpectedly – he once again backpedalled since initially agreeing to an interview with DM168 on 29 March.

His response in that Tuesday telephone conversation was: “From Friday I’m available, my darling, I’m just waiting for my legal team to fly in and my green light is from 3pm – call me on Friday morning and we can meet at the Soweto Parliament.”

Let’s pause here…

The cracks widen

Mohlauhi never took a call that Friday and has not responded to interview requests since. Saying yes to us would mean answering questions about cracks in his stories that were lapped up by media when he first started giving interviews.

There was no “legal team flying in” for him. He had already been released on bail after being arrested and charged in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on 28 March for housebreaking with intention to steal and for malicious damage to property. The incident occurred when Mohlauhi and some of his followers apparently broke away from an Operation Dudula march that had a police escort.

This breakaway group apparently targeted the home of a man called Victor Ramarafe whom they alleged to be a drug dealer. They allegedly stormed and ransacked Ramarafe’s home.

Ramarafe is a known EFF supporter. Police confirmed that no drugs were found and maintained that they were not conducting the raid alongside Operation Dudula. Mohlauhi is expected back in court on 27 May.

Mohlauhi had, till his court appearance, gone by the surname Dlamini, never bothering to make the correction – another discrepancy, or deflection. During the brief court appearance he asked to address the court. Bizarrely it was to make an apology for being dressed casually. He was wearing a black tracksuit top.

Back to his telephone conversation comment of meeting at the “Soweto Parliament” – no satellite navigation device, no Google Maps, not even a good ol’ street address would provide a location for the Soweto Parliament. It’s because it doesn’t physically exist. Just like Mohlauhi’s Young Peoples (sic) Government of South Africa. They are just names; constructs in his imagination and on Facebook pages. It has no mandate, no governance structures, no elections or nominations, not even a telephone number that works.

Knocking at the door of privilege

It brings his story to a “rewind moment”, back to Mohlauhi’s childhood and school days, and then to a life lived mostly through social media curation and fantasy. There’s deep tragedy here too of how opportunities from his school days led him to the edge of the promised land of money, privilege and a life outside the township grind.

Even sadder perhaps is that he is a casualty of being torn between two worlds in a fractured society – growing up neither fully of Soweto nor fully of Sandton. He has said in a radio interview on KayaFM: “I was forced into two worlds, so you felt you had to adapt.”

On one hand it’s made him a crafty chameleon. When he was invited to Ethiopia in January he framed his message as ‘fighting colonial forces” and “standing up for our motherland Africa – we can’t leave here like other people”. He cosied up to Namibia’s youngest parliamentarian Patience Masua and posted photos with her as “young African leaders uniting” on Facebook.

But on home turf he sticks to the “Put South Africa First” line. Pushed on this inconsistency his go-to response is that it’s not a fight against foreigners but a fight against undocumented foreigners.

It’s a false distinction, of course. When a foreigner is attacked they will not be able to hold back vigilantes and mobs while they try to produce paperwork.

The schoolboy vs the man today

Mohlauhi grew up in Soweto between split households in Dube and Meadowlands. He has gone on record as saying his dad was a struggle hero and gangster, forced to rob banks to fund the struggle. He never names him.

He grew up sporty and after getting into public model C schools, including at Jeppe Boys High, he earned a sports scholarship to the upscale Catholic private boys school St David’s Marist Inanda in Johannesburg, where he matriculated in 2005.

An old schoolmate, who spoke to DM168 anonymously, can’t reconcile that the “likeable guy with the polished Sandton accent [which he now drops depending on his audience] who hung out in the library” is the person who’s “controversial and putting out anti-foreigner rhetoric”.

Social media fantasy

This schoolmate said the “Lux” persona emerged years after school, in the years when Instagram started becoming a thing. In his very first Instagram post in March 2015, Mohlauhi flashes a blingy timepiece, sports dark shades and a pin-on pilot’s badge. He hashtagged something about promoting his company “Native Airways”.

In the following posts he starts quoting himself in professionally designed logos that feature the Soweto cooling towers, the words “Soweto Airport” and an airplane. Then there’s an endless scroll of him in great outfits posing in private jets, sometimes with a Macbook conveniently in view; shirtless, brushing down a racehorse; on a golf course; or cruising top-down in imported cars. He also seeks out photo ops across his social media platforms with everyone from beauty queens to politicians, among them Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida, former president Kgalema Motlanthe, Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke and billionaire investor Rob Hersov.

His more recent posts are of him in camo fatigues and he has posted curious military or defence-themed posts on his Facebook. The most mind-boggling is a video in a garage gym where he’s in camo gear running on a treadmill with an automatic rifle that he aims into an imaginary battlefield.

Mohlauhi was a member of the Naturena Community Policing Forum’s patrol group in about 2019. Deputy chairperson of the CPF Naturena Crime Forum Nceba Ndube praised Mohlauhi.

“We invited him, he came and he helped a lot with our recruitment drives and he also contributed about R10,000 to our forum,” said Ndube.

Ndube said in Naturena they battle crimes that include drug dealing, especially in crystal meth, cable theft and housebreaking.

“These people we are arresting are undocumented foreigners and they are coming to cripple our country. So for me personally, not as the CPF, I support what Nhlanhla is doing 100%,” he said.

Bills and bail as the courts catch up

But building Mohlauhi’s brand has come with a price tag and, allegedly, also unpaid bills.

Mohlauhi is being sued to the tune of R600,000 by an events and promotions company called Vertex Events. According to lawyer Muyeyeka Bazuka Mhango of Bazuka & Company, the matter relates to an outstanding debt for promotions work done for Mohlauhi that dates back to 2015. Mhango said they expect to file papers in the Johannesburg High Court within the next fortnight.

“My client has tried for years to get their money … It’s a matter for the high court because of the large amount of money involved,” Mhango said.

And just this week it emerged that, on 13 February, Mohlauhi was handed a “caution and discharge” notice. Essentially he has been convicted for failure to appear in court in September 2019 in connection with a common assault case in which he is alleged to have attacked a tenant who hadn’t paid rent to his mother on time.

He must now appear in court on 3 May for the common assault charge or face another fine or jail time.

Clipped wings

Mohlauhi has 10 companies registered under his name, but none trade today.

His schoolmate summed it up: “The bursary kids had it tough; they were at school with these rich Sandton kids so the black kids generally hung around with each other. There wasn’t any nastiness towards them but maybe the school made him aspire for wealth … seeing wealth was all around him and he didn’t have it.”

When he was 28 years old Mohlauhi was interviewed for a “Black Excellence” Q&A in Bona magazine, published in March 2015. Mohlauhi told the publication that he studied politics at the University of Johannesburg and became an ANC youth league secretary on campus. But he “got bored” and dropped out.

He claimed to have convinced the Chinese embassy in Pretoria to accept his proposal to “teach sports development” in the country in exchange for being able to study in China. He was 19 and without any qualifications in sports development, but he said they agreed and he left for China. Within a year he was back in South Africa.

At that point he turned his attention to “studying” golf through the Professional Golfing Association. That career choice didn’t stick either because he moved on to register Native Airways. He claimed in that Q&A to have qualified as a pilot but said in another interview this year that his licence lapsed.

There are many non-starts, outright fails and almost desperate curation in the contradictions that make up the story of Mohlauhi. Operation Dudula represents a restart, perhaps also a meal ticket. Or maybe there’s a political springboard or a shot at stretching out his 15 minutes of fame a little bit more.

Bankrolling xenophobia

Mohlauhi has insisted that Operation Dudula is not funded by anyone, just individual members who contribute a few rands towards communal transport to get to marches and operations. There are also T-shirt sales.

But he has blipped on the radar of many political parties. He’s found himself in the crosshairs of the EFF and he readily goads Julius Malema on public platforms. Outside the Johannesburg Central Police Station when he was arrested in March he said to TV cameras: “Julius wants to hold on to power. When a strong man is speaking and people are listening better he is jealous … he hates our progress.”

But Mohlauhi has friends in Action SA and in the Patriotic Alliance. Herman Mashaba, interviewed on Radio702 at the time Mohlauhi was arrested, said he admired what Operation Dudula does but warned them not to take the law into their own hands.

“It hurts me to see this young man in jail today while the real criminals are sitting in Parliament and Cabinet,” the Action SA leader said. He also laughed off suggestions that he is the money behind Operation Dudula.

Meanwhile Kenny Kunene, deputy president of the Patriotic Alliance, said to DM168: “I would love for Nhlanhla Lux to be a member of the Patriotic Alliance, to be a leader so we can appoint him as minister of foreign affairs and he can finish where Dr Aaron Motsoaledi cannot go because of the limitation of his party. Nhlanhla can deal decisively with this issue of illegal immigration.”

Kunene was in court on 28 March and was ready to pay Mohlauhi’s bail, but he said Mohlauhi’s mother paid as the R1,500 bail “was trivial”.

Kunene did not want to disclose amounts but said: “I have assisted here and there … I am not only supporting Nhlanhla but I have also assisted in other incidents where leaders of PA and other Operation Dudula members were arrested. We are supporting each other because we have got the same patriotic goal to put South Africa first.” DM168

Violence At Mugodhi Shrine As Battle For Control Of Sect Rages On

By A Correspondent- A fight erupted at Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church headquarters in Wedza, Mashonaland East on Friday  as the battle for the control of the sect rages on.

The factions are both claiming total control of the perceived holy ground.-standard

“Mr president ,I draw inspiration from your famous words “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo”,in addition to that,in our meeting more ways will be discussed on how to make youth more patriotic to their country,” said Zhou.

Zhou said the 1924,1961,1965 and 1969 constitution were the most discriminatory laws by foreign countries as they used to it ill treat Zimbabwean s and Britain has the obligation to compensate Zimbabwe.

Durban Floods Damage Shock Zulu King

AmaZulu King MisuZulu KaZwelithini said he was shocked by the extent of the damage caused by the heavy rains that induced floods and mudslides in KwaZulu-Natal Province.

The king visited the area of Tshelimnyama, west of Durban, with billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe and KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala.

The AmaZulu King expressed shock over the scale of the devastation caused by the floods and also thanked the Motsepe Foundation for its financial donation to people affected by the natural disaster. He said:

We are all shocked by the storms. We are in pain. As we speak, there are still missing people.

These rains showed us that it has damaged a lot of infrastructure, and even businesses have been affected.

However, I am happy that Motsepe Foundation has come on board to help us.

It is not the first time the foundation reaching out to us.

The Motsepe Foundation donated R30 million to assist families affected by the floods. Said Motsepe:

We came here today to make a humble donation of R30 million from the Motsepe Foundation to help our people.

There was a meeting that took place earlier and after that we visited many places in the province and you can see that many of our people are suffering because of the way the flood has impacted and affected their lives.

Nearly 400 people have been confirmed dead following the floods, with thousands more displaced after their homes were washed away by flash floods and mudslides.

The Department of Human Settlements said around 4 000 homes have been completely destroyed by the floods in KZN, with Tshelimnyama having been one of the areas most affected.

Seh Calaz Defends Makandiwa Over ED “Invitation”

By A Correspondent- Zimdancehall musician Seh Calaz, real name Tawanda Mumanyi, has defended United Family International Church (UFIC) founder and leader Emmanuel Makandiwa for inviting President Emmerson Mnangagwa to his church service on Saturday afternoon.

Mnangagwa, the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga attended a church service at the UFIC International Easter Conference on Saturday in Chitungwiza.

However, Seh Calaz says Makandiwa’s critics should just leave him alone as he has the right to freedom of association. In a post on his Facebook page, the musician said:

The Departure Of Standard Chartered- A Case Of Economic Commitment

By Tinashe Eric Muzamhindo- Few days ago, the Standard Chartered bank closed all it’s branches in Zimbabwe, except a few remaining as they wind up their 120 year journey in the southern African nation.

This came as a surprise, a big blow not only to business , but vehemently a wake up call to our leadership in Zimbabwe. Surprisingly, the CEO of the bank appeared in Zambia with President Hichilema, announcing a 40 million deal, occupying a designated building as it’s main Headquarters.

We need to reflect as a nation, and see where we have gone wrong, and offer strategic home grown solutions around the current trajectory. This was a big blow to our country, considering job losses, foreign direct investment, revenue, the negative sentiments around the leadership, and the PR stance around ” Zimbabwe is open for business mantra”.

What picture does it give to few potential investors who are willing to come and partner with Zimbabwe? I thought I can give few cents advice to the current trajectory. We had by elections recently, and what was the conclusion of those who are willing to do business with Zimbabwe?

What about the debt obligation? Have we managed to repay the creditors? Recently, the Finance Ministry revealed that our debt stands at 19 Billion, and as moved from 14 Billion, and this means we have managed to borrow 5 billion without Parliamentary approval? How then do we report back to people about this obligation?

We don’t have a proper financial report concerning the debt obligation. How was the money used? Any form of agreements signed for acquiring the new debt? Do we have any proper debt restructuring framework?

According to Financial Analysts, every Zimbabwean has a debt burden of $14 000 which must be paid in future.

We need to focus on the following :

1. *Human rights obligation*
We need to have a clean record, to attract new investors, and those who are trying to market our country will not have any hurdles around Zim agenda.

We need to have proper human rights records, and we must show the world that we have changed the way we do business, before we sell this Zimbabwe is open for business mantra. Literally, we have a duty to practice what we preach, and it will be a waste of resources to go and knock doors in foreign lands, with blood on our hands.

2. *Debt obligation*

The procedure is before we borrow funds from any international creditors, we must seek permission from Parliament, and there must be legislative processes and back up to approve the loans.

Surprisingly, the Finance Minister announced recently, we have a debt obligation of 19 billion, no explanation was given on how we have arrived on that figure. This will be a thorn in the flesh for investors, citizens, development partners and many other stakeholders how we managed to accrue to such a figure.

 *Business Model to run Zim*

We need a proper business model to run Zimbabwe. Who is carrying feasibility studies around our projects across all sectors of the economy? Are we doing the right thing? What are we getting from minerals we have in Zimbabwe?

Those who are purported to be new investors, do have the proper skills, proper record to do business with Zimbabwe? Are we not mortgaging our country to dubious investors? What are we getting from our raw materials? Are we not exporting both labour, raw materials and semi- finished products to foreign lands?

What are we getting from Belarusians in exchange of buses ? What are the implications of these deals? We have more than 85 minerals in Zimbabwe, and are we utilizing these resources in a proper manner?

Recently, there were oil discoveries in Muzarabani area, and are we deploying strategic thinking, research and development on these areas of study? We need to invest in research and development, and the findings must be made Public, so that independent thinkers can put their input on our findings.

4. *Policy clarity*
Leadership must clear all inconsistencies regarding policy matters. Conflicting statements around policy matters is a blow to those who want to do business with Zimbabwe. We need a proper policy direction in all critical sectors of the economy, mining, Agriculture, Tourism, Industry/manufacturing, education, health etc. We need a Strategic investment conference to deal with gaps around investment opportunities.

5. *Cutting expenditure*
We have a bloated cabinet. We have more than 25 Ministers, deputy Ministers which may not even be necessary. Cabinet must be trimmed to 15 or the least to 18. We must do away with deputy Ministers. We can make use of permanent secretaries, or principal directors in line ministries. The resources can be channeled to health and education sector

6. *Reduce foreign missions*

We have too many embassies around the globe. There is need for Foreign Affairs Ministry to restructure the foreign mission, and remain with Strategic embassies. We have a huge bill around funding foreign missions, and some of these embassies have gone for months without salaries.

8. *Advisory council must be trimmed to five people*
President Mnangagwa has over 25 advisors, and this is a burden to the fiscus. It means every advisor needs perks, salary, allowances and can this be a sustainable development considering that our national treasury is bleeding, and hospitals have gone for months without drugs? Medical personnel needs decent salaries and proper housing plan?
9. *PR team around Presidency*

The team around those managing Presidency are not doing a good job . We have a low – weight approach around Presidency. During Mugabe’s era, State House was a special place, and we could not witness what we are seeing today. I’m not sure if there is a proper vetting process being done , before meeting His Excellency. The recent Dubai expo meeting was not done properly, more Economic players would have been invited, and private sector would have played a key role on advisory, and it could have made a lot of sense with the involvement on business.

10. *2023 elections will be a litmus test*
We have a burden as a nation ahead of harmonized polls in 2023. Potential investors, development partners, regional bodies, international community and creditors are sitting on the fence to either endorse or discredit the polls. We need to pay attention to key areas around the anticipated polls.

Last but not least, are we doing the right thing to preserve our integrity as a nation? Do we have proper Strategic Thinking around the current trajectory? Do we have the necessary personnel around Strategic key areas of governance? I suggest, we may need a reshuffle of ideas , and deploy strategy.

“Prophet” Rushiri Infects Young Ladies With Deadly STI

By A Correspondent

A Masvingo conman who calls himself Prophet Rushiri is being accused of raping young girls and seducing married women.

Rushiri made headlines last year after he took away someone’s wife and a Toyota Funcago. It is believed that the couple assisted Rushiri with transport and the “prophet” snatched the married woman.

There are also many people who are complaining about Rushiri’s style called nyama yese inodyiwa which means (every lady is good for sex).

“The Liberation Struggle Is Our Generational Mandate”: CCC

By A Correspondent- The opposition CCC has encouraged its supporters and members countrywide to attend Independence Day celebrations organised by the ZANU PF-led Government in their respective areas.

In a statement, CCC national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the party reverences all who fought for the attainment of the country’s independence from white minority rule. Below is the statement in full:

THE LIBERATION PROMISE IS OUR GENERATIONAL MANDATE

On the 18th of April 2022, we celebrate 42 years of independence. We honour and commemorate this important day as we mark and look to the sacrifices made by our forebears who fought on our behalf for the liberation of our country.

The liberation struggle was anchored on the fight for freedom, dignity, the people’s sovereign will and self-determination.
Independence means freedom, the pursuit of happiness, national pride and national dignity.

We acknowledge that, although we attained our independence in 1980, we are yet to be fully free and fully independent.

This entails the holding of free and fair elections and the upholding of fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens.

As a citizens’ movement, we acknowledge the effort and sacrifices of our liberation heroes, war veterans, war collaborators and citizens, living and departed, who contributed to the attainment of the liberation of our nation from colonial rule.

Whereas there are political differences, there is no debate about our honour, respect and acknowledgement of all national institutions, organs, events and programs.

Our loyalty to Zimbabwe and our loyalty to the country is absolute as a marker of the preservation of our history, legacy and identity as a people.

Independence Day belongs to us all as Zimbabwean citizens. For this reason, we encourage all citizens to participate in such important national processes and events without tainting them with partisan conduct.

We do so for our country and for our collective being as a people.

Accordingly, we assert that we are going to be represented at all key national events.

National events and state institutions are far greater than any political party or sectarian interests.

The liberation promise is our generational mandate.

Inmate Ejaculates On Fellow New Inmate, Blames Wet Dreams

By A Correspondent- An inmate at Bulawayo Prison has appeared before a magistrate for an alleged act of misconduct after he ejaculated between the thighs of a fellow intimate while they were asleep.

Brendon Moyo (24) of Njube appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomasiko Ndlovu last week.

He was charged with indecent assault as defined in section 67 of the criminal law codification and reform act chapter 9:23.

Moyo was, however, acquitted after he argued that he did not intentionally do the misconduct as it was a result of a wet dream.

Magistrate Ndlovu ruled that there was no evidence that Moyo inserted his privates between the thighs of the fellow inmate intentionally.

She said wet dreams happen when someone is asleep and not aware of what is happening to them and therefore, it might be possible that the accused’s act was not intentional.

Prosecutor Siphiwe Mhlanga said the incident happened on 11 November last year when the accused had allegedly invited a new inmate in Cell 7 to come to sleep next to him as the other side was crowded.

It was further alleged that during the night the inmate felt Moyo touch the lower part of his waist and he ignored him thinking it was a matter of overcrowding.

Around 3 AM, Moyo allegedly inserted his privates between the new inmate’s legs and ejaculated.

The inmate told other inmates who informed a prison officer leading to Moyo’s arrest.

ED Pampers Soldiers

By A Correspondent- A move to award soldiers a 37% pay increase at a time when the government is silent about reviewing civil servants salaries has drawn fire from some teachers’ unions, who say it exposed double standards.

According to Defence ministry correspondence, soldiers received a salary increment effective April 1.

Their allowances would also be reviewed according to grades.

This is not the first time uniformed officers have received salary increments ahead of their colleagues within the public service.

The local currency has been sliding in value in recent weeks, as inflation gallops, sparking an increase in prices of goods and services.

According to the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe, an average urban family now needs over $90 000 a month as of March to survive.

The soldiers’ salary review was forced by inflationary pressures, the ministry’s circular says.

“Be advised that the following deliberations have been made between Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), Defence Forces Service Commission (FSC), Ministry of Defence (MOD) and war veterans and Treasury, the DFSC has approved part of the implementation of the military concept and related allowance for colonels and below,” the circular reads in part.

In 2020, there was a widespread outcry from ordinary civil servants over an increment awarded exclusively to the men in uniform.

Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri and army spokesperson Alphios Makotore said welfare issues for soldiers were confidential before demanding questions in writing.

Another Horror Crash Kills Two

By- Two people have been killed and 14 others seriously injured in a Stallion Cruise bus.

The bus rammed into a haulage truck in the Masenyane area along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway in early Sunda.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Officer Commanding Lupane District, Chief Inspector Laxmore Dube, said the accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Dube said the Stallion Cruise bus crashed into the haulage which was carrying coal.

The injured were all taken to the nearby St Luke’s Hospital in Lupane, while the bodies of the deceased were retrieved from the wreckage.

Chief Inspector Dube said police are conducting investigations to gather facts surrounding the fatal accident.

He warned motorists to avoid night driving if possible and to carry danger warning signs in the event of breakdowns.

The accident occurred just a few after days after another bus accident claimed the lives of 37 Zion Christian Church (ZCC) members in Chimanimani.

The overloaded St Charles Lwanga High School bus had 106 ZCC congregants on board from Chimanimani East’s Tilbury Estate, who were travelling to an Easter pilgrimage at Mbungo Estates shrine, Masvingo.

The accident occurred five kilometres from Jopa turn-off along the Chimanimani-Chipinge highway just after midnight on Thursday.

The bus reportedly lost brakes before it veered off the winding road near the Chimanimani-Chipinge boundary and careered into a deep ravine.

Traditional Leaders, Apostolic Sect Healers Named Over Violating Women And Girls With Disabilities

By A Correspondent- Traditional healers (n’angas) and apostolic healers are among the perpetrators of sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) against women and girls with disabilities.

This was said by Public Service and Social Development, director of disability affairs Christine Peta in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com. Said Peta:

It is a growing problem that needs to be nipped because women with disabilities are being sexually abused by apostolic sect healers and traditional healers.

There is a huge problem here in Zimbabwe of women and girls with disabilities facing (SGBV).

We are seeing prophets from the apostolic sect telling women with mantle disabilities that if they want to be healed they should sleep with them.

I heard from the spirit that it is the only way to heal you and make you whole again without disability.

Peta said the healers sexually abuse disabled women and girls on the pretext that they will be healed if they consent to sexual intercourse with them. She said:

If you want to get out of the wheelchair you should sleep with me, this is happening in the apostolic sect and traditional healers.

In our research, we have found that the healing process at these places is shrouded in SGBV.

Women Coalition of Zimbabwe (WiCoZ) national coordinator Sally Dura said:

As WiCoZ, we will engage traditional healers and faith-based organisations in coming up with ways of tackling SGBV against women and girls.

Makandiwa Fights In Mnangagwa’s Corner

By- United Family International Church (UFIC) founder and leader Emmanuel Makandiwa has defended Zanu PF for its failure to create employment.

The self-styled prophet said that Zimbabweans should not expect President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to create jobs for them.

Addressing a church service in Chitungwiza on Saturday Makandiwa said the Government’s role is to create an environment for individuals to prosper. He said:
It is never the responsibility of the Government to create jobs for you. The creation of an environment is their responsibility so that you and I prosper and we have that opportunity in Zimbabwe.
There is something wrong with a citizen who keeps complaining and shifting blame.

The church service was attended by Mnangagwa, his wife Auxillia and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga,

Chamisa Calls For A 2023 Election Roadmap Dialogue

By- The Citizens Coalition for Change leader, Nelson Chamisa has challenged Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa to call for a 2023 election roadmap indaba.

Posting on Twitter, Chamisa said a 2023 election roadmap dialogue would help avoid the holding of another contested Presidential poll.

Posted Chamisa:
It’s about 60 weeks to the 2023 general election. Any dialogue must be about reforms & the road to 2023, not a GNU. As Zimbabweans, we must find each other to avoid yet another disputed election & all its undesired consequences. We need a Pre-Elections Pact on Reforms (PREPARE).
Whoever Wins an undisputed mandate in 2023 must then unite the nation, form a credible inclusive Team ZIMBABWE & deliver prosperity and happiness.
Chamisa said the five years after the next elections should be about nation-building and the transformation of the economy, instead of unending politicking.

Khupe Withdraws CCC Senior Party Position Contest

By- Former Deputy Prime minister and MDC-T vice president Thokozani Khupe says she was no longer interested in contesting for any position when Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) holds its congress.

This comes after Khupe last week officially joined CCC ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections amid fierce resistance from some quarters in the newly-formed party whose entire leadership is on an interim basis pending an elective congress.

Speaking through her spokesperson Ntando Ndlovu, Khupe told the Daily News yesterday that she was content with being just a card-carrying member of the CCC.

“Khupe’s current pre-occupation, like every party member, is for CCC to capture State power and form the next government next year so that all Zimbabweans can get a better life, a decent living and salaries, proper healthcare, quality education and decent employment,” Ndlovu said.

“She is not in this new movement for a position. She will, however, play her part like every ordinary citizen in organising and mobilising around the programme of change. Khupe, therefore, refuses to be diverted by rumour mongers and gatekeepers who are hell bent on projecting her as a power hungry politician.”

He said Khupe, together with her former supporters, were now officially CCC members after her unveiling last weekend before the new party’s interim leader Nelson Chamisa with whom she had been at war over the control of the MDC since the death of its founding president Morgan Tsvangirai in February 2018.

Chamisa was last weekend forced to intervene after angry party youth bayed for her blood, barring her from attending a provincial assembly meeting held at McDonald Hall in Mzilikazi suburb in Bulawayo, accusing her of being a Zanu PF surrogate.

Khupe, who showed up at the event upon Chamisa’s arrival, was greeted with obscene shouts from the youths who vowed not to let her be part of the meeting.

“Khupe you are not welcome here. All along you were dining and wining with (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa, busy plotting the destruction of our party.

“You even recalled our members from Parliament, who are some of the leaders you want to meet today. Are you not ashamed of what you did?” shouted one of the people who attacked the former deputy prime minister.

On her way into the venue, escorted by her aides, the CCC youth physically pushed her away while blocking her way in an incident that lasted for about 10 minutes.

Sensing danger, Khupe retreated into her vehicle before Chamisa and some party leaders came to her rescue.

Miffed by the violent behaviour of his party activists, Chamisa was forced to call them to order, describing the new movement as non-violent.

“I am not a leader of a violent community and I will never accept violence. This is why I left MDC to form a peaceful organisation with God fearing supporters,” he pleaded.

“I do not want this to resemble Mnangagwa’s organisation or even that of Mugabe. I am not happy with those youth who are blocking Khupe. I did not invite her, but she has the right as a citizen to be in this meeting,” Chamisa told the gathering.

Chamisa Clears Air On GNU Claims

By- The Citizens Coalition for Change leader, Nelson Chamisa said the only dialogue he was interested in engaging with Zanu PF would be that of discussing about a clear 2023 election roadmap.

Chamisa posted: The last elections were soured by the killing of six unarmed civilians by soldiers in central Harare after Chamisa’s supporters protested against alleged vote-rigging.

Chipinge Disaster: Speeding Driver Blames Brake Failure

By A Correspondent- The speeding St Charles Lwanga High School driver, whose bus lost brakes, veered off the road and rolled several times before landing over 200 metres down the steep, killing 36 people on the spot on Thursday night, has blamed lack of adequate roadside signage for the calamity.

The accident, which occurred 5km from Jopa turn-off along Chimanimani-Chipinge Road, saw the bus landing on its side after throwing out most of the passengers aboard.

The school bus was hired by ZCC members from Chimanimani East, Tilbury Estate, travelling to Mbungo Shrine for the Easter gathering in Masvingo.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that 36 people died while 71 others sustained various injuries.

“Thirty-six people died on the spot when a St Charles Lwanga High School bus carrying Masvingo-bound ZCC church members was involved in an accident along Chipinge-Chimanimani road, 5km before Jopa turn-off.

Those who were seriously injured were taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital (in Mutare) and others were admitted at Chipinge District Hospital. “The deceased were ferried to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital mortuary,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

However, the driver, Mhlanganisi Khumalo, who is employed elsewhere and is on a part-time job at St Charles Lwanga High School, blamed lack of adequate signage along the road for the accident.

Khumalo, who was actually on his third trip with the bus, said he thought he would get to a different terrain after the steep gradient, only to helplessly watch as the bus veered off the road after losing brakes.

“I lost brakes along the curves to the extent that I tried to go past the curve thinking that I would find better terrain so that I could reduce speed only to find out that we were still on a steep gradient.

Replace Mnangagwa If You Want To Win Polls, Jim Kunaka Tells Zanu PF

By A Correspondent- Former Zanu PF activist, Jim Kunaka, says the ruling party risks losing the 2023 elections if it does not reform and deploy a new candidate to replace President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Speaking to the NewsHawks recently, Kunaka said ZANU PF is failing to reform itself and if the youths do not speak up, the old guard will destroy the former liberation movement. Said Kunaka:

If ZANU PF wants to win the 2023 elections, they should bring everybody who is outside back to the party without any condition and allow everyone to contest for any position of interest.

I last heard the President (Mnangagwa) say let bygones be bygones, but why are they not allowing those who are in exile to come back to the country, allow them back in the party, and allow them to contest?

Several former ZANU PF officials who allegedly belonged to the G40 faction were expelled from the party soon after the 2017 military coup that ended the then president Robert Mugabe’s long reign.

Those who went into exile fearing arrest include former ministers Saviour Kasukuwere, Jonathan Moyo, Walter Mzembi, Patrick Zhuwao and Godfrey Gandawa.

Kunaka believes ZANU PF’s top hierarchy has lost direction and the party has to bring in young people into the politburo to have a chance of winning future elections. He said:

The ruling party has to be intact to allow them to win the 2023 elections. These old men are tired.

They no longer think the economy is shrinking on daily basis and people are tired in this country.

Just imagine, you print a ZW$100 note and it doesn’t buy half a loaf of bread. Where are we going as a country?

ZANU PF has lost direction now. They can’t even follow what they fought for.

Look at the ZANU PF hierarchy now. All of them are in their 70s and 80s in the politburo.

ZANU PF is not reforming itself. Why not bring in fresh minds and young people into the politburo?

Kunaka together with some senior ZANU PF officials was ousted from the party at the ZANU PF 6th National People’s Congress in 2014 for alleged links with the Gamatox faction that had allegedly coalesced around then Vice President Joyce Mujuru.

Tatelicious: Mai Titi’s Helicopter Pilot ‘Akachekereswa’

By Showbiz Reporter | It is a fact that the socialite, (Mnangagwa’s ambassador for Women) Mai Titi recently officially joined the ZANU PF murderous cult (video) which conducts depopulation programs, known in Shona as kuchekeresa (the European quivalent of ritual killings). It is also a fact as ZimEye further narrates, that Felistas Murata accepted membership into Mnangagwa’s grouping at a time when several of the ZANU PF leader’s military pilots and other officers were dying en masse in suspicious plane and other crashes.

Mnangagwa’s cult which upholds belief that all election winners must be converted into corpses(video), is currently in an operation to depopulate the opposition in a way it hopes, will help remove the sanctions put against Emmerson Mnangagwa and his close elite circuit.

The socialite who has since publicly associated her hundreds of thousands of supporters to the self boasting-genocide-criminal, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has under these circumstances been accused of more ritual associations, this time relating to her own pilot.

The male pilot crashed to his death soon after transporting her at her wedding last weekend.

Mai Titi meeting Mnangagwa after getting appointed ambassador

Speaking around the controversial Mnangagwa statements of sacrificing the majority of Zim citizens as a ritual (video), the Sweden based Tatelicious Karigambe has alleged saying Mai Titi sacrificed her chopper pilot.

Talelicious accused Mai Titi while saying colleague, Olinda Chapel should no be like her.

She said:

“That girl called Cynthia… there is nothing that was purchased [at the wedding].

“As for me no one can bind me down. Even here my bills were paid for. Right now will you hear about me? So don’t live a fake life. life doesn’t give you anything. Authentic life is just good, you see?

“And for you, Olinda you actually wanted to make headway with airoplane life, that plane that killed this one who got chekereswa’d? You know Olinda doesn’t have a fake life, but she stands to fight with Felistas who has a fake life. Olinda has money she takes there in UK from credit cards, but you drag yourself down, to compete with Felistas. Why don’t you stick to your level with the likes of Zodwa? Felistas is just like that, that’s how she entered Facebook using a fake life, the wedding of Obina which was fake, with Zizoe, with bananas; we are used to Felistas with fake life. We are used to it.

“Today if Felistas wakes up saying goodbye, she has an event [but it gets her nowhere]. Olinda don’t drag yourself, stay in your class. You have money, stick to the Zodwa level.”

Despite the enormous evidence, is it accurate to say she chekeresa’d (ritually sacrificed) the chopper pilot who flew her around at her wedding? Mai Titi was still to comment over these further damaging allegations at the time of going to print, as the female gangster, actor’s reputation of among other things, hiring bouncers to eliminate a Harare businesswoman, continued its linger. Take Advantage Of Easter To Spread Message Of Change, Says Sikhala

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition For Change deputy chairperson Hon Job Sikhala has urged Zimbabweans travelling to their rural homes during Easter to spread the message of change.

The hard-hitting politician took a swipe at Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “clueless” administration for totally abandoning suffering citizens.

According to Hon Sikhala, the Zanu PF regime does not care about the welfare of citizens.

“The CCC gvt will make sure that our people will be admitted into hospitals with dignified facilities.

This is a bus accident victim admitted at Chipinge hospital covered by torn, old and degrading blankets.

ZANU PF must go !!!
They are dogs and reptiles,” Hon Sikhala wrote on Twitter.

“I wish all of u dear Zimbabweans a safe, peaceful and happy Easter holiday.

I know we are all on our way to our villages to see our beloved ones. Don’t forget to share with relatives our difficulties as a nation caused by ZPF.

Shoko ngarifambe. Vhuserere kuvanhu,” he added.

New Curriculum Was Rushed, Parents Protest

By A Correspondent- Parents and guardians under the Our Zimbabwe campaign have petitioned Parliament to have the new curriculum suspended, saying it is expensive and its implementation was rushed.

The new curriculum was introduced in 2015 by the then education minister Lazarus Dokora but was resisted by parents and teachers.

Parents have been opposed to the National Pledge, which has since been declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court, the Continuous Assessment Learning Activity (CALA), and projects.

Learners are asked to do many projects per term which are deemed too expensive. The petition, signed by over 10 000 parents, reads in part:

There was no adequate consultation with key stakeholders including teachers and parents.

The curriculum was rushed, it is important to consult key stakeholders before any policy is passed and for it to be meaningful and relevant.

The objectives of any curriculum cannot be achieved if it is not well planned and implemented.

While we agree with the fact that there is a need to modernise our education system in order to align it with global trends and modern technologies to enable our children to be fully participating members of the global community, this is not possible in our situation where we have obsolete education facilities and an unmotivated teaching fraternity.

Students, especially in rural communities, have no electricity, computers and internet access to meet most of the CALA requirements.

CCC Members Arrested In Mutare

Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested Citizens Coalition for Change members in ward 16, Dangamvura Chikanga Constituency for conducting a door to door campaign.

Those who are arrested are Chipo Chabvaneyi, Memory Kujeke, Jestina Changorora, Dadirai Wachi, Lina Makore, Gladys Chando, Conilia Mandiringa, Tsamwai Bonyongwe, Natalie Tsaukai, Melania Mpoga, Rosemary Muradzikwa, Elizabeth Sithole, Jefrey Nyamana and Zanele Sibanda.

They are now at Mutare Central and the charges are not yet laid against them.

Speaking to CCC Dangamvura Chikanga Organising Secretary John Nyamhoka, he said charges are not laid.

“Our members have been arrested in Chikanga near TM. They are now at Mutare Central Station and the charges are not laid.”

“They are trying to buy time so that they can spend the whole Easter Holiday inside the police.

There is no democracy at all”, said Nyamhoka.

Meanwhile, lawyers Innocent Gonese and Simon Chabuka are representing them.

My Kids Survived Chimanimani Bus Accident

Fifty-year-old Rudo Sithole from Manase village in Chimanimani was inconsolable as she waited to be served at a Nyaradzo funeral parlour in Mutare yesterday.

Sithole was waiting to collect the body of her husband, who died in a bus accident that claimed 37 lives in Chipinge in the early hours of Friday.

Chimanimani accident

The accident occurred five kilometres from Jopa turn-off along Chimanimani-Chipinge highway just after midnight.

The St Charles Lwanga High School bus was carrying members of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) from Chimanimani East’s Tilbury Estate, who were travelling to an Easter pilgrimage at Mbungo Estates shrine, Masvingo.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the bus which was overloaded with 106 passengers veered off the winding road near Chimanimani and hurtled into a deep ravine.

Yesterday police said 37 people had died and 70 others were injured.

“The police is still investigating the fatal road traffic accident, which occurred at the 5km peg along Jopa-Skyline Road, Chimanimani where 37 people died and 70 others injured,” police said.

“The ZRP wants to assure the nation that names of victims will be released once the identification process has been completed.”

Sithole, who lost her husband Wilbert Garikai (52), was distraught.

“On the day I had weird feelings, sadly when my husband was leaving he said we might not see him very soon and I did not take it seriously until I heard that they had been involved in an accident,” she said

“When I heard of the accident I started crying fearing for the worst, which was confirmed early in the morning by my relatives.

“He died on the spot.”

Noah Mchakubvura (39) lost a relative in the accident, while two other family members are admitted in hospital.

“I lost my brother’s son Delma and the mother of the now deceased Tsitsi Parara is admitted at Chipinge hospital while Dylan Muchakubvura (8) is admitted at Victoria Chitepo Hospital,” Muchakubvura said.

At Victoria Chitepo hospital in Mutare, families were lining up to see their injured relatives.

A survivor of the accident Thelman Kauyeza (39) who was admitted at Victoria Chitepo said he was travelling with his wife and two children and they all survived.

“The bus fell into a valley after the driver lost control,” he said.

Red Cross Manicaland provincial manager Munyaradzi Chikukwa yesterday said they were providing medical supplies and blankets as well as other interventions.

Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe road safety ambassador Emmanuel Machikwa said the bus was overloaded.

“They were travelling at night on a dangerous road, which is known for being covered with mist, and therefore visibility was compromised,” Machikwa said.

“On a road which is curved with steep descending, drivers depend more on brakes and it is not surprising that the brakes could have failed leading to the driver losing control of the bus.”

Zanu PF Chimanimani East MP Joshua Sacco said drivers should exercise extreme caution when driving in Chimanimani because of curved roads.–Standard

Soldiers Win Huge Pay Rise Overtaking Doctors, Nurses

A move to award soldiers a 37% pay increase at a time when the government is silent about reviewing civil servants salaries has drawn fire from some teachers’ unions, who say it exposed double standards.

According to Defence ministry correspondence, soldiers received a salary increment effective April 1.

Their allowances would also be reviewed according to grades.

UKRAINE: Zimbabwe Mealie Meal Price Shoots Up

THE Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) has reviewed upwards prices of mealie-meal and flour, following the increase of maize and wheat prices.

The prices of mealie-meal and flour recently went up by 52 percent and 31 percent respectively. The price of a 10kg roller meal rose to $1 665 from $1 099, while flour rose to $215 000 per metric tonne from $164 523.

In a statement last week, GMAZ said prices of grain from Grain Marketing Board (GMB) went up. Commercial white maize price increased to $75 000 per tonne from $50 000 which translates to a 50 percent increase, while wheat rose by 17.8 percent to $66 000 per metric tonne from $56 000.

“These increments are substantial and millers cannot absorb them. At its urgent virtual meeting yesterday, the GMAZ Secretariat reported the following price movements; a)10kg roller meal to increase by 52 percent to ZWD1 665 from ZWD1 099. b)One tonne of wheat bread flour to increase by 31 percent to $ 215 000 from $ 164 523 per metric tonne. These price increments are with immediate effect,” read part of the statement.

GMAZ, however, said individual millers and wholesale/retailers were free to negotiate for price discounts.

It said the costs of packaging, labour, transport, electricity and imported wheat continue to militate against price stabilisation efforts.

“We assure the consuming public that our scientific computation model remains reasonable, justified and we have been restraintful in our cost accumulation.

“The milling industry remains most indebted to Ministries of Agriculture, Finance and Industry for the ongoing engagements which are aimed at achieving affordability and availability of our products,” added GMAZ.

The organisation said the continued increase in food prices globally was causing serious headwinds and Zimbabwe was not spared.

GMAZ justified their move by noting that similar price increases of maize meal and flour are also being experienced in other regional countries such as Botswana and South Africa. -Sunday News

Update On AFCON Draw

Zimbabwe and Kenya will not be drawn into the same group in the 2023 Afcon Qualifiers.

The two countries were hit with suspensions by FIFA because of government interference in the running of their football associations.

CAF included them in the qualifying draw, but the teams will only participate in the competition if they meet FIFA’s demands two weeks before the games begin. If the bans are not lifted on time, only three teams will be involved in their groups, with the top two progressing to the finals.

To avoid a situation where the groups will end with just two participants, both Zimbabwe and Kenya will not be drawn together.

The Warriors are in Pot 3, while the East Africans are in Pot 2.

The draw ceremony will happen at SuperSport Studios in Jo’burg. – Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Ovarian Cyst

Monica Mutsvangwa Demands Helicopter For Dying Daughter

Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, demanded for a helicopter ambulance to fly her dying granddaughter to a hospital, it has been said.

The popular ZANU PF activist, Kerina Mujati writes saying the development should be a lesson for her and other elites that they should invest in adequate healthcare for all.

The development comes after many ZANU PF supporters criticised investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono for highlighting the plight of the nation’s hospital facilities. One of them posted the picture of a cancer machine from India claiming contrary to Chin’ono’s claims, is from Harare’s Parirenyatwa Hospital.

Below is the unedited post by Mujati:
Monica Mutsvangwa in her speech explaining the death of her granddaughter, she told gathered mourners that she wanted a MARS Helicopter to airlift her granddaughter , unfortunately she was told there was no Helicopter or ordinary Ambulance available. Instead she got help from a mere Clinic at ZIMPlats for the others involved.

Monica you can be so arrogant with your borrowed power and looted riches yet you shall be haunted the rest of your life as you will be driving to your Farm at that Selous turnoff where your granddaughter’s life was taken will always be glaring back at you. As you needed a Helicopter which your power and money failed to provide in your desperate moment, may I kindly remind you to reflect on that as it is a reality that ordinary Zimbabweans live with each second as they cannot even get a paracetamol. I hope life has taught you something that death is invincible nomatter how rich, powerful or poor one can be. Handiti makati muri kutonga? Ndokutonga kwacho kweku shaya ma Ambulance asi Mwari akuratidza kuti ndiye Mutongi uye anotongera pachitororo kana ada hake, uye akakuratidza kuti mari ne power yauno funga kuti unayo izuda kumagumo tese tinoenda tisina chinhu. Kana waifunga kuti uka fona ku MARS ” it’s me Minister of Information Monica Mutsvangwa I need a Helicopter to airlift my granddaughter immediately” that would intimidate them ,Mwari akakuratidza kuti aiwa. That is the reality in Zimbabwe, moita propaganda shoma mogadzirisa nyika nekuti wakuziva kuti dying with dignity and no pain is very important. Ndatenda.

Cain and His Legacy

Sabbath School Summary

By Dr Elder Masimba Mavaza

Cain and His Legacy

Lesson 3

Memory Text: “ ‘If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it’ ” (Genesis 4:7, NKJV).

INTRODUCTION.
In Genesis, what follow immediately after the Fall, and then the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden, are mainly births and deaths, all in fulfillment of God’s prophecies in the preceding chapter. As parallel chapters, Genesis 3 and 4 contain many common themes and words: descriptions of sin (Gen. 3:6-8; compare with Gen. 4:8), curses from the ’adamah, “ground” (Gen. 3:17; compare with Gen. 4:11), and expulsion (Gen. 3:24; compare with Gen. 4:12, 16).
The reason for these parallels is to highlight the fulfillment of what went on before, the prophecies and predictions that God had given to Adam and Eve after the Fall. The first event after Adam’s expulsion is full of hope; it is the birth of the first son, an event that Eve sees as the fulfillment of the promise that she heard in the Messianic prophecy (Gen. 3:15). That is, she thought he could be the promised Messiah. The next events—the crime of Cain, the crime of Lamech, the decreasing life span, and the increasing wickedness—are all fulfillments of the curse uttered in Genesis 3.

SABBATH: After the Fall, God did not come with angels to destroy Adam & Eve, nor did He desert them to face further ruin from the devil. Amid the sentence passed on the serpent & the results of sin man would reap, all hope was not lost for the pair. God promised a Messiah (Gen. 3:15). Prior to that, births & deaths is what followed after man left Eden (Gen. 3:6-8; 4:8; 3:17; 4:11; 3:24; 4:12, 16).

SUNDAY: The birth of Cain was the next event to occur after Adam & Eve’s expulsion from Eden. They joyfully welcomed Cain with the hope that he might be the Messiah (Gen. 4:1, 2; 3:15, DA, p. 31). Gen. 4:1 reads; “‘I have acquired a man, indeed the Lord Himself’”, in the Hebrew text. Eve spoke about the birth of Cain but was silent about Abel’s. Cain means “to acquire” & Abel; “vapor” (Ps. 62:9, 144:4).

MONDAY: The brothers’ profession not only explains their offerings to God but also their varied attitudes & mentalities. While Cain worked to “acquire” the fruit he produced, Abel worked to “keep” the sheep he received (Gen. 4:1-5, Heb. 11:4). Sin could only be forgiven by the cast of blood. Abel, unlike Cain obeyed God in His offerings. The two offerings were a show of faith & salvation in Christ (PP, p. 71).

TUESDAY: It is very unusual for a man to be consciously angry at God, but Cain not only defied His Maker but got angry at Him (Gen. 4:3-8, 1 John 3:12). He was jealous of Abel & thought God was unjust to him. God didn’t accuse Cain, He queried him for him to realize the reality of his sin. Then, God bid him to repent & receive pardon. God’s desire is to save fallen men (see James 1:14, 1 Cor. 10:13).

WEDNESDAY: Cain perpetuated the sin of his parents in Eden (Gen. 4:9-16). God’s question; “where are you?” echoes the link in their sins. Though Adam engaged in blame games, he did not deny his sin. But Cain denied his sin. In His 3rd query to Cain, God made Cain aware that He know his evil deeds (Gen. 4:10, 3:19). Abel’s blood on ground made it accursed. Yet, God protected the now refugee, Cain.

THURSDAY: If there’s something to glory about, it should be the name of God & not our shame. Lamech, the great-great-great grandson of Cain, chose to boast of his sins. It can be seen that while Cain is quiet on his crime & ask for mercy, Lamech put his sin in songs (Gen. 4:17-24). He began polygamy, a sin that will go on to affect many. Eve bore Seth, whose line Jesus would come (Gen. 5:3, 6:8; 6:2).

FRIDAY: Daily, moment by moment, “Enoch walked with God” till “God took him” (Gen. 5:22, 24). He had a special relationship with God. There’s no ground to suppose that there’s an immediate afterlife in Paradise for the righteous. Noah also walked with God, & he died like Adam & Methuselah. A special grace is not given any man. Enoch shared the gospel & was sought by many. He ministered to all men.

—Ellen G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 86 & Jude 14.

Keywords

PP- Patriarchs and Prophets

Seth- The name Seth is derived from the Hebrew verb ’ashit, “I will put” (Gen. 3:15), which introduces the Messianic prophecy.

“Sons of God”- refers to the line of Seth because they are designed to preserve the image of God (Gen. 5:1, 4; 6:2).

“Daughters of men”- A sharp contrast to the “sons of God” who has the image of God. It was through the “daughters of men” that the “sons of God” sinned (took wives for themselves; Gen. 6:2).

Cain- means “to acquire” something precious/powerful.

Abel- “Hebel” in Hebrew. It means “vapor” or “breath” (Ps. 62:9, 144:4).

Discussion Questions

? Why did Cain kill his brother? Read the following comment by Elie Wiesel: “Why did he do it? Perhaps he wanted to remain alone: an only child and, after his parents’ death, the only man. Alone like God and perhaps alone in place of God. . . . Cain killed to become God. . . . Any man who takes himself for God ends up assassinating men.”—Messengers of God: Biblical Portraits and Legends (New York: Random House, 1976), p. 58. How can we be careful, even if we don’t commit murder, not to reflect the attitude of Cain?

? Compare the life span of antediluvians (Genesis 5) to that of the patriarchs. How would we explain this decreasing of the span of human life? How does this degeneration counter the premises of modern Darwinism?

Sikhala Blasts Clueless Mnangagwa Regime

Makandiwa Salutes ED

by A Correspondent- United Families International Church (UFIC) founder and leader Emmanuel Makandiwa said he will not stop praising President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the developmental projects his government is carrying out throughout the country.

Makandiwa made the remarks during UFIC’s international Easter Conference in Chitungwiza on Saturday.

Mnangagwa, First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga attended the service.

The self-styled prophet claimed that Mnangagwa’s Government has managed to do a lot in a short space of time what is supposed to be achieved in 10 years. He said, as quoted by the ZANU PF Twitter page:

What is supposed to be achieved in 10 years, the government has managed to do a lot in a short space of time.

Even if you desist from campaigning let the work speak for you. I cannot look at such good roads and keep quiet.

My heart bleeds a lot when l look at the next generation drowning every single day in this situation on social media.

No one can convince your children sir that having access to a smartphone doesn’t mean you have smart thinking.

Sometimes we say things, having access to the internet does not mean you have the wisdom. I’m encouraging you to focus and look at what has been done.

If you tell me that 20 buses were coming l would feel like jumping. When you tell me that 5 000 are available for the transportation of people, that to me is a statement l don’t see prophetically. l have an eye that sees physically.

I’m already noticing changes. There is nothing that gives me hope than being in the dark and knowing that light is on my way.

Sooner or later this country will be able to see light whether the devil likes it or not.

Your ability your Excellency to be able to concentrate on your work and allow us to bark is God-given.

Not many can do that some of us will feel like pulling back but you keep focused.

I hear social media is not recognizing noticeable development you are making but we have eyes to see.

Makandiwa pledged to give his maximum support to Mnangagwa saying he delivered the country from the yoke of slavery. Said Makandiwa:

I see hope where we are going. We are going to give you maximum support. We are your children, when you fought the liberation struggle, for that period of time we thanked God.

In our slavery, you fought and God gave you something and that is the ability to speak.

You are quiet yet you fought for us and we can speak and we can’t fight. If l see a man like you, l can salute.

“Replace ED To Win 2023 Polls”: Jim Kunaka

Parents Petition Gvt Over New Curriculum

Elvis Nyathi’s Remains Arrive Home

By A Correspondent- The remains of Zimbabwean man Mbodazwe Banajo “Elvis” Nyathi, who was brutally murdered in South Africa last week on Wednesday arrived in the country accompanied by relatives and friends on Friday morning via the Beitbridge Border Post.

Nyathi (43) will be laid to rest at Umvutcha cemetery on Saturday after a church service to be held at Brethren In Christ Church in the New Lobengula suburb.

The government granted him a state-assisted funeral while South Africa based funeral insurance company Zororo-Pumulani pledged to repatriate his body at no cost.

Nyathi worked in Fourways, a Johannesburg Metropolitan suburb as a gardener twice a week where he was making R200 a day.

He was stoned and burnt to death by vigilantes in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa.

Nyathi originally hailed from Malaba, in Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province.

Cheating Woman Dumps Hubby

By A Correspondent- A Waterfalls man was dumped by his wife after he caught her with another man in his bedroom

Farai Munhongowarwa (37) of the Johanne Masowe yeChishanu Church pleaded with his wife Sophia Zanga (23) to stay, despite her shenanigans.

Sophia was caught between the sheets with a married builder, Farai Kaitano (29), who was assaulted while in his birthday suit.

He sustained head and leg injuries, but decided not to lodge a police report.

Munhongowarwa told H-Metro that it was his second time catching Sophia red-handed in their matrimonial bedroom.

Sophia confirmed the two incidents saying they were deliberate attempts to hurt her husband since she has lost affection for him.

“My wife has been seeing other men behind my back for some time,” said Munhongowarwa.

“I could not confront her, but decided to find better ways of catching her red-handed .

“Last month I caught her with another man and the lover ran away leaving his bicycle

“I took the bicycle to Waterfalls Police Station to avoid allegations of theft.

“I warned her over adultery since we go to church together and she showed remorse unaware that chakatobaya chikatyokera.”

He hatched a plan to expose her again.

“I am a security guard so I was on night duty and decided to return around 4am after informing my seniors about my intentions.

“That led me to finding my wife between the sheets with this man.

“My children are too young to be forced to live without both parents and for that reason, I felt it was better to forgive my wife and seek counselling.

“If I may find professional people to help my wife accept that I have forgiven her and urge her not to leave me. I will be happy.

“I love her. I love my children, I love my marriage.”

Sophia said she has already found alternative accommodation.

“Ini zvemurume uyu handichada saka kudanana nevamwe varume ndirikuzviitira kuti awore mwoyo asiyane neni,” said Sophia.

“I cannot explain the reasons, but the truth is that I no longer have affection for Farai and if he decides to take the children I do not mind as long they will be well looked after.

“Yes, I am still nursing one of the children, this will be a challenge for me to part ways with my children.

“The lover who left a bicycle is from Hatfield, but I have forgotten his name and this Kaitano is building for one of our neighbours and we both come from Murewa.

“I met him four days ago.”

Kaitano told H-Metro Sophia lied to him that she was single which is why he decided to spend a night with her at her house.

“I met Sophia four days ago and she gave in to my proposals and invited me to her house where I was caught by her husband,” said Kaitano.

“I was yet to have sex with Sophia when Farai and his brother arrived.

“They assaulted me all over my body and I sustained head and leg injuries.

“I did not lodge a police report against them, but if they continue visiting my workplace I will retaliate.” H Metro

Missing Byo Man Found Alive

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man who had gone missing has been found alive amid revelations that he had been kidnapped and shoved into the trunk of his car where he was trapped for two days and two nights.

The man, Paddington Mapako, was allegedly abducted by three unknown men who are believed to have been sent by his business rivals.

They also robbed him of US$3 800.

Mapako is involved in the forex exchange business and he believes that people who are jealous of his success were behind his kidnapping.

Mapako, who was found after the intervention of Prophet Emmanuel Mutumwa of Johane Masowe eChishanu Selborne Park suburb, said the man wanted to kill him, but later spared his life.

On Tuesday I was coming from home when I got to Richmond on Falls Road, I saw a Honda Fit and it blocked me and three guys with guns came out and they pointed guns at me and took my Honda CRV keys.

“Two got in the back seat and the other was on the driver’s seat.

They drove a short distance before they tied my hands and feet and muffled my mouth using tissues and a piece of cloth.

They then put me in the boot of my car.

“They drove some distance along Victoria Falls Road and then parked near some shops. One of them got out and bought beers which they drank in the car.

They were also smoking marijuana as they debated whether to kill me or to let me go.

“One of them won the argument and they drove to Trenance where they dumped the car with me still in the boot.

Opposition Leader Loses POLAD Vehicle After Raising Rigging Allegations

After they left, I was trapped in the boot for two days as I could not move or scream as my mouth was muffled.

But I got lucky when I heard someone passing by near the car.

I shook the car violently and the person who saw the car shaking went and came back with help.

“They opened the boot and I fell on the ground. Police were called to the scene and they took my statement.

I was then taken to a surgery for treatment.

They robbed me of US$3,800, but what is important is that I am alive and I thank Prophet Mutumwa who was praying for me together with my wife.

Their prayers of intercession saved me,” said the visibly fatigued Mapako who had a bandage on his arm.

The exhausted and sleepy Mapako said he was eating oranges and drinking lots of water to regain his strength.

His wife, who was sitting next to him at Prophet Mutumwa’s shrine, said her husband went missing on Tuesday and she got worried after he did not come home at night.

“We are just coming from the hospital where he was on a drip. He is tired.

I was worried that he had been killed or harmed, but thanks to Prophet Mutumwa, who prayed and fasted for him, he was found alive.

“We are here today praying and giving thanks to God for the good that he has done for my husband. We are giving a testimony of his miracle works,” she said.

A police spokesperson said they were yet to receive information on the case.

Prophet Mutumwa said when Mapako’s wife told him that her husband had gone missing he prayed for his safe return.

“I told Mai Mapako that her husband was in trouble, but God was going to rescue him and he did.

As you can see, the family is here praying and praising God for protecting him.

All praise should be directed to God, not to me,” said Prophet Mutumwa. B Metro

Another Nyanga Horror Crash Kills Church Members

By Four members of the Mugodhi Apostolic Church died on the spot while 14 others were injured in a kombi accident in Nyanga on Friday around 3 PM.

The driver of the Nissan Caravan kombi, which had an undisclosed number of passengers, lost control on curves along the Nyanga-Rwenya Road resulting in the crash.

National spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told The Herald on Friday evening that the congregants were coming from Murehwa.

 He said:

I can confirm that four congregants from the Mugodhi church died on the spot around 3 PM today on their way from Murehwa after a church service.

The driver lost control of the vehicle on the curves along the road near a black spot where the Regina Coeli bus disaster occurred.

It’s a bloody Easter considering that in two accidents, we have now lost 40 people.

Both accidents have happened in the same province (Manicaland) in a space of hours.

Asst Comm Nyathi was referring to the place where a bus accident claimed the lives of 89 Regina Coeli students on 3 August 1991.

It also came hours after another accident claimed the lives of 36 Masvingo-bound ZCC church members in Chimanimani about 5km before the Jopa turn-off.

The overloaded St Charles Lwanga High School bus experienced brake failure around 11 PM on Thursday before it veered off the road and rolled over 200 metres downslope.

Zim Wants To Be Classified Heavily Indebted Poor Country

Zimbabwe is pushing to be classified a Heavily Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) as the country seeks debt relief in what could be a volte-face on the long-held official aversion to the initiative, a new report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has shown.

The southern African nation remains in debt distress, battling to access long-term cheap capital from multilateral lenders like the World Bank, African Development Bank and the IMF.

With limited budgetary support, Zimbabwe has over the years relied on internal resources and loans with usurious interest rates to finance some of its critical projects.

Following several failed attempts to settle the ballooning debt such as the Zimbabwe Accelerated Arrears Debt and Development Strategy (ZAADS) and later the Lima plan of 2015, Zimbabwe, according the IMF, is now pursuing the HIPC model, which during the Government of National Unity was frowned upon by Zanu-PF.

During the tenure of the power-sharing government which comprised Zanu-PF and two MDC factions, hawkish Zanu-PF politicians rejected proposals made by then Finance minister Tendai Biti to pursue the HIPC initiative,  arguing that the country was not poor.

Biti, a former MDC stalwart, was appointed the country’s Finance chief under the shaky coalition government which ended in 2013.

According to a detailed IMF report published this month following the conclusion of Zimbabwe’s 22 Article IV Consultation, the country’s public and publicly guaranteed external debt is this year expected to rise to US$17.4 billion from US$17.2 billion in 2021.

External public debt, the IMF said, stood at 100% of gross domestic product (GDP) at the end of 2020 but declined to an estimated 64% of GDP at the end of 2021, reflecting the impact on the nominal GDP of the sharp parallel exchange rate depreciation.

International re-engagement, the IMF says, has lagged as stakeholders seek political and economic reforms.

The 2019 Staff-Monitored Programme experienced significant policy slippages and elapsed without a review.

“Directors (IMF) noted that Zimbabwe remains in debt distress, with large external arrears to official creditors,” the report reads.

“A new Medium-Term Debt Strategy (MTDS), under preparation, would guide future debt management operations. ..

In a bid to revive international re-engagement, the authorities have prepared a debt resolution strategy to re-engage with external creditors.

The strategy includes plans to clear external arrears and seek debt relief under two approaches: a HIPC Initiative process; or a non-HIPC Initiative process, involving debt restructuring, and arrears’ clearance via bridge financing and own resources. The specific timeline and modalities of this plan are yet to be finalised.”

The Zimbabwean authorities, the IMF further noted, have resumed token payments to multilateral and Paris Club creditors.

According to the IMF, the level of extreme poverty in Zimbabwe has risen and about a third of the population is at risk of food insecurity.

The international community seeks improvements in domestic political conditions and economic policies to initiate re-engagement with Zimbabwe.

What is HIPC?The HIPC Initiative was launched in 1996 by the IMF and World Bank, with the aim of ensuring that no poor country faces a debt burden it cannot manage.

Since then, the international financial community, including multilateral organisations and governments, have worked together to lower to sustainable levels the external debt burdens of the most heavily indebted poor countries.

In 1999, a comprehensive review of HIPC allowed the IMF to provide faster, deeper, and broader debt relief and strengthened the links between debt relief, poverty reduction, and social policies.

In 2005, to help accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the HIPC Initiative was supplemented by the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) .

The MDRI allowed for 100% relief on eligible debts by three multilateral institutions—the IMF, the World Bank, and the African Development Fund (AfDF) — for countries completing the HIPC Initiative process.

In 2007, the Inter-American Development Bank (IaDB) also decided to provide additional (“beyond HIPC”) debt relief to the five HIPCs in the western hemisphere.

HIPC’s two-step process

Countries must meet certain criteria, commit to poverty reduction through policy changes, and demonstrate a good track record over time.

The IMF and World Bank provide interim debt relief in the initial stage and, when a country meets its commitments, full debt relief is provided.

Chipinge Bus Disaster Strikes Fear In Govt Ahead Of Uhuru Celebrations

By A Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabweans to watch the 42nd Independence celebrations from home while transporters who will ferry people to the venue of the commemorations in Bulawayo have been urged to exercise extreme caution.

This follows the tragic death of 35 people in Chimanimani on Thursday night.

Speaking after an interministerial meeting held in preparation of the Independence celebrations, Local Government Minister July Moyo says Government is urging transporters to exercise extreme precautions on the country’s roads.

“Last night we lost 35 people in Chimanimani, in a bus disaster. I was in touch with the President and he has directed that a statement must be produced. We are urging all those who will be coming to these celebrations, drivers of buses, kombi and cars, to practice extreme caution so that we don’t lose lives.”

The CEO of Zupco will issue a statement to all those who will be driving, children and those who will be transporting people to take precautions.

Zanu PF Youths Protests Against Magaya’s Gold Mining Activities

Zanu PF youths in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central province last week demonstrated against Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries Prophet Walter Magaya’s appetite for gold.

The youths claim Magaya is just taking the precious mineral without giving back to the community.

Magaya was sponsoring Nyashanu mining syndicate in Mazowe and providing them with mining equipment.

The youths were waving placards which labelled Magaya a thief some were ordering him to go back to his church where they allege he steals for his congregants.

One of the community leaders said Magaya was milking resources in Mazowe and does not plough back to the community.

“We are tired of Magaya he is taking our minerals here without giving back to the community, even the youths who work under him do not have anything.

Passengers Association Mourns Chipinge Accident Victims

We are saddened by the Chimanimani bus disaster were 35 people perished.

We call upon churches to have adequate transport for their journeys to avoid overloading as a way of ensuring their safety whenever they go for ahead including celebrations.

Night travelling is a challenge in terms of road safety because there will be environmental issues especially to drivers who are not aware of terrain due to non availability of road signs, mists and other environmental challenges.

Buses must also be checked for brakes and other issues regarding roadworthiness.

Passengers Association of Zimbabwe would to wish a speed recovery to those injured and the family of deceased to find solace in God .

Government Declares Chipinge Accident National Disaster

By- The government has declared the Chipinge road accident a National Disaster.

The development means all costs related to the funerals and the injured will be met by the government.

A St Charles Lwanga bus that was carrying 106 ZCC members who were going to Mbungo for the Easter pilgrimage was involved in an accident Thursday night, killing 35.

29 passengers died on the spot while six others died upon admission at Chipinge District Hospital.
71 others were injured, with 13 reported to be critical.
And in his condolence message on Friday, President Mnangagwa said:
“I received with a deep sense of shock and horror tragic news of a bus disaster last night in Chimanimani in which 35 souls have perished so far, with several sustaining injuries, some of them life-threatening. That this bloody traffic accident took place on the eve of both our Easter and Independence Holidays when there is increased movement across the country, adds to my anxiety. The dead and injured were members of the Zion Christian Church, ZCC, who looked forward to an incident-free fellowship with their brethren in commemorating the Crucifixion of Christ. Today the Zion Christian Church, bereaved families and our Nation at large are in deep mourning. It is a very inauspicious beginning to what should have been both a solemn religious break and a joyous celebration of our National Day.

“On behalf of Government, our entire Nation and indeed on my behalf, I wish to express my deepest, heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost their beloved ones in this bus disaster, while praying for God’s healing and soothing hand over all those nursing various injuries from the accident. To Bishop Mutendi and ZCC congregants, I tender my heartfelt sympathies, urging them to remain strong and steadfast in faith and fellowship.
“In the wake of the tragic traffic mishap, I have since directed Government to declare this accident a National Disaster thus paving way for the mobilisation of resources and assistance in support of the affected families and communities. This action places all the costs related to funerals, and to the care of the injured on Government.
“As we mourn and pray for all those who have perished in this bus disaster, let us all exercise extreme care and caution as we travel to various destinations over this festive period. This bus disaster is bad enough for us already; we do not need to make the holiday any bloodier through sheer recklessness on our roads. The Zimbabwe Republic Police will be out in full force to act against anyone breaking traffic rules, in the process endangering themselves and innocent road users.”

Malema Blasts Dudula Leader

By- The Economic Freedom Fighter said Operation Dudula was behind the murder of a Zimbabwean national Elvis Nyathi who was brutally murdered in South Africa last week.

Nyathi was murdered for not having a passport.

A memorial service for Nyathi was held at the Underground Hillbrow Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.

Mourners condemned Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux for inciting his compatriots to turn against migrants claiming that they were taking their jobs and also involved in criminal activities.

A representative of the Julius Malema-led Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), who was wearing the party’s regalia, said a black African is not a foreigner in South Africa. He said:

The real foreigners are the whites but the likes of Nhlanhla Lux are failing to confront them, instead, they run after a mere gardener.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mphathi Ndlovu, a cousin to the late Nyathi, said:

We are not a vengeful family but we are saddened, Elvis was a man of peace, a simple guy, leaving a simple life.

We do not believe that this was done by the generality of South Africans but it’s just an act of a single individual who must somehow be dealt with.

Nyathi (43) was dragged from his home last week on Wednesday night by a mob in Diesploot and viciously assaulted.

The group later necklaced him with an old tyre before setting it alight in the street, a few metres from his home.

Nyathi’s remains are expected to arrive in the country this Friday and will be buried at Mvutshwa Cemetery tomorrow.

A church service at Brethren in Christ Church in New Lobengula will be held before his burial.

President Chamisa’s CCC Determined To End Zanu PF Dominance In Rural Areas

Tinashe Sambiri| Citizens’ Coalition For Change leader President Nelson Chamisa has said Zanu PF is not at all strong in rural areas.

President Chamisa, quoted by NewsDay, said CCC was determined to challenge Zanu PF dominance in rural areas.

“Now that the by-elections are over and we have made our political statement, over the next few months, we will be focusing on building our party structures across the country and building robust leadership machinery that will take us through to the 2023 elections.

We urge those who have been elected to carry out their mandates with the seriousness they deserve.

I know that while we performed well in urban areas, there are concerns over the rural areas,” President Chamisa told the publication.

He added:
“We are going to work hard over the next months to enhance our fortunes countrywide and our performance at the next elections. It is a myth that rural areas belong to ZANU PF.

We know it is a myth because we have won in various provinces with many rural constituencies before and we are going to win again.

We are committed to building a stronger and mutually enriching relationship with citizens in rural areas just as we have established a long-lasting relationship with the urban communities.”

Accident Bus Driver Blames Signage Absence

The speeding St Charles Lwanga High School driver, whose bus lost brakes, veered off the road and rolled several times before landing over 200 metres down the steep, killing 36 people on the spot on Thursday night, has blamed lack of adequate roadside signage for the calamity.

“There was no roadside signage at that particular point. I could not control the bus and after it lost brakes, it was travelling at an extreme speed. I failed to apply brakes. It was more of a surprise to me because we were traveling well all along. After all, this was a second trip heading for the same destination. I went to Masvingo last week, same route so I was confident because the bus was in good condition,” he said.

In a separate hospital bedside interview, the driver’s assistant, Innocent Chabara, who has 15 years’ experience in that capacity said: “Yes, the bus was travelling at a high speed when the accident occurred. I suddenly saw the driver struggling with the brakes and the next thing we were flying down the mountainside.

“This was his (driver)’s third trip with the bus. On this route, it was his second trip. We used the same route last week while driving AFM youths who were travelling to Masvingo,” said Chabara, who was battling to produce coherent speech owing to pain.

Josphar Nechiora of Sazunza Village, next to Chiutani Village where the accident occurred, one of the earliest people to arrive at the accident scene, said: “We started helping children and then the elders. We finished around 4am with the rescue mission. We had assistance from Headman Chonai, MP Joshua Sacco and the Wattle Company and other well wishers. It was really sad. We carried the injured and the dead uphill so that they could be ferried to Chipinge District Hospital,” he said.

Officer Commanding Manicaland Police Commissioner Priscilla Makotose, said: “We are saddened by the events here in Chief Muusha’s area. This is a loss to Zimbabwe. The sad thing is that they were going to church for Easter at their Mbungo Shrine. As police, we were notified around 2300hrs and we swiftly reacted. We spent the whole night here and we are grateful for the assistance we got from several stakeholders. The deceased will be accommodated at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.

“We urge motorists to travel an minimal speed because speeding risks lives. We also urge them to use roadworthy vehicles. In the same breadth, we also urge transporters to avoid overloading,” she said.

The injured are admitted at Chipinge District Hospital while those in critical condition have been transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.

Chipinge District Medical Officer Dr Brian Makumbe said moving the bodies to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital was done for logistical reasons.

“We didn’t want a situation whereby the bereaved would come to Chipinge to claim the body of their deceased relative and find out that it has been moved to Mutare. “So we thought bodies should be collected from one point. In any case, Chipinge District Hospital accommodates 16 bodies,” he said.

Mr Albert Mapunga, senior teacher St Charles Lwanga, said: “The bus crew comprising the driver and assistant, came to collect blankets around 8:20pm and they went away. The next thing was a phone call from Chabara informing me that the bus was involved an accident,” he said. -Herald

CCC Demands Electoral Reforms Before Polls

Tinashe Sambiri|The Citizens’ Coalition For Change says Zimbabwe Electoral Commission( ZEC) does not have the capacity to conduct free and fair polls.

ZEC is accused of working with the former revolutionary party Zanu PF to rig elections.

In a statement on Friday, CCC demanded immediate constitutional and electoral reforms.

Read full statement:

ELECTION WATCH UPDATE – 13 APRIL 2022

The Citizens’ Coalition for Change is currently seized with handling a plethora of reports on electoral malpractices and unlawful conduct by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and ZANU PF in the lead up to and during the by-elections that were held on the 26th of March 2022.

Section 155 of the Constitution requires that elections be free and fair. That same section provides that elections must be free from violence and other electoral malpractices.

Section 156 additionally requires voting methods to be simple, accurate, verifiable, secure and transparent.

In terms of this provision, ZEC has an obligation to ensure that appropriate systems and mechanisms are put in place to eliminate electoral violence, and electoral malpractices and to ensure the safekeeping of electoral materials.

Following in-depth investigations and pursuant to taking legal advice following the 26 March byelection, the CCC is of the view that the conduct of ZEC hitherto falls desperately short of the mandatory constitutional standards and there have been numerous violations of the Electoral Law.

In response to this regrettable state of affairs, the movement is exploring (and in appropriate cases has already undertaken) legal, political and civic mechanisms to engage ZEC and hold them to account to avoid a repeat of these malpractices in the landmark 2023 general election.

Our demand is that ZEC conducts itself constitutionally, professionally and in a non-partisan manner.

As highlighted consistently by our Change Champion in Chief, President Nelson Chamisa, the Electoral Reform Agenda is our topmost priority for 2022. We demand reform on 7 key issues:

  1. We demand respect for the right to vote including implementation of the diaspora vote. The right to vote must be facilitated by making voter registration accessible, simple and verifiable.
  2. We demand a credible voters’ roll.
  3. We demand security of polling material.
  4. We demand security of the vote and the voter-dispute mechanisms, polling staff must be credible and independent.
  5. We demand transitional mechanisms.
  6. We demand a credible results management system,
  7. We demand media reforms.

Finally, more work needs to be done by ZEC to ensure that the voter registration process is simplified, made more accessible and that first-time voters have smooth access to ID documents.

This is the only way that ZEC can comply with the constitutional imperative established in s155 of the Constitution that elections must be based on universal adult suffrage.

We call on all citizens to ensure that they are registered to vote so that we win Zimbabwe for change in 2023.

36 Mutendi Church Members Killed

A sombre atmosphere engulfed the ZCC Mutendi Church in Bikita today where thousands of pilgrims are gathered for the church’s Easter festivities blemished by the death of 36 church members in a road traffic accident in Chipinge.
Mbungo Estates, the site for annual Easter festivities by the ZCC Mutendi church, was a sad sight as a dark cloud hung over the church following the horror crash that claimed many lives.

Mbungo…

Even church members some on foot and others in cars, buses and lorries who lined up the highways to Mbungo estates on the Easter pilgrimage which kicked off today, appeared distraught as they visibly agonised over the death of fellow church members in the crash.

When the state media visited ZCC Mutendi headquarters at Mbungo today Easter prayers were ongoing though.

Facts About Ovarian Cyst
