EXERPTS OF THE URGENT NEEDS BY MASVINGO CITY COUNCIL TO THE MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT

In his brief presentation to a stakeholders meeting convened by the Minister of Local government, His Worship Mayor Tabe Aleck highlighted the following @TheMirrorMsv @TheMidWeekWatch

The water augmentation plan phase 2 is a matter of priority. The urgent intervention of the government in respect of the local government ministry will go a long way in addressing the water woes of the city at a time the country is facing the outbreak of Cholera

Another important matter of interest entails the solarisation of all council offices and departments to make sure work is done even during the losdshedding era which has ravaged the whole nation. Such projects must be approved by the ministry if they are to see light of the day

Timely disbursement of ZINARA FUNDS to the council so that road rehabilitation programs are undertaken . The submissions from councils lacks urgent attention resulting in many projects facing a still birth & in that vain, it is imperative that priority areas be attended
His worship further requested the minister to see to it that all outstanding bills which are not paid by government departments are cleared. Government owes Masvingo council more 6billion RTGS dollars. This money if paid shall help the council to address priority areas.

It was also noted that the Masvingo City Council has no viable income generating project & His Worship together with all councillors agreed to come up with a road map towards establishment of projects which are key in sustainable development & upliftment of the people’s lives.

The city intends to increase the pumping capacity of the water plant from 30 to 60 litres because of the growing population and needs of the city. This can only be done if parent ministry compliment by making sure funds are availed in time @MasvingoMedia @TellZimbabwe

The interface that is underway at the Civic centre drawn all Masvingo local authorities and rural councils for the government to appreciate the woes faced by various councils in the province. It is our hope that such submissions shall go a long way in resolving our problems

Woman Lucky To Be Alive After Mnangagwa Mjolo Jump from 1st Floor

-Woman Seen in Dramatic Escape

In a heart-stopping incident caught on video, a woman narrowly escaped an unfortunate situation by leaping from a first-floor apartment window. The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was seen calmly opening the large window and jumping down to the side carpark before swiftly driving away in a car.

While the exact circumstances leading to the woman’s daring escape remain unclear, the video footage suggests she was fleeing a dangerous situation. The incident has sparked speculation online, with some suggesting it could be a staged skit or a prank.

The woman’s leap, which has been dubbed the “Mnangagwa Mjolo jump,” draws parallels to an infamous incident in Zimbabwe’s political history. In the 1980s, the-ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa allegedly subjected a love rival to a similar ordeal, resulting in the man falling from a fifth-floor apartment after a clash over a woman.

The video of the woman’s jump has gone viral, capturing the attention of social media users worldwide. Many have expressed concern for her well-being, while others have commended her bravery and resourcefulness in the face of adversity.

The woman’s daring escape remains shrouded in mystery, but her actions have undoubtedly left a lasting impression on those who have witnessed her remarkable feat. Whether it was a desperate act of self-preservation or a carefully orchestrated stunt, the woman’s leap from the first-floor window might be testament to the human spirit’s resilience and ability to overcome adversity.

Dodgy Medicals: Nurse Caught In The Act

Nurse Sentenced for Tampering with Rape Victim’s Medical Report

Magistrate Sam Chitumwa has handed down a 16-month jail sentence or a US$800 fine to Shamiso Mupfudze, a Chivhu General Hospital nurse, for altering a medical examination report of a rape victim.

The court learned that on January 18, 2023, Mupfudze conducted an examination on a 16-year-old alleged rape victim. Her initial findings concluded that the minor had been sexually abused. A medical affidavit with serial number 014863 was completed in the presence of the victim and her sister, confirming these findings.

However, the affidavit was not commissioned on the same day. Subsequently, Mupfudze allegedly tore off the initial affidavit after the victims left and completed another one with serial number 01484. In this new report, she claimed that the examination was inconclusive due to a lack of fresh evidence of abuse.

The deception came to light when the minor and her sister returned two days later to collect the affidavit. They discovered that Mupfudze had changed her initial findings. A complaint was filed, leading to a subsequent examination at Mvuma District Hospital, which revealed healed hymeneal tears.

A third examination at Mbare SGBV Clinic on February 6, 2023, further confirmed the healed hymeneal tears. Mupfudze was subsequently arrested, and Taonga Masaire prosecuted the case.

The sentencing requires Mupfudze to pay the fine of US$800 by December 31, 2023. This alarming incident raises concerns about the integrity of medical reports and the potential impact on justice for victims of sexual assault.- state media

Nelson Chamisa A Man Of The People

When Struggle Is A Birthright: Case Of Nelson Chamisa

By Stephen Sarkozy Chuma

On 17 March 2007, the then MP for Kuwadzana, Nelson Chamisa was left for dead at Harare (now Robert Mugabe) International Airport after he was beaten by state security agents. This is just but one of so many instances the now CCC leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa was at the receiving brutal hand of the state.

Earlier in his political life, Advocate Chamisa was arbitrarily arrested numerous times when he was a youth leader for the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC.

Talk of consistency and loyalty to the people cause! When it comes politicians across the divide in this country, one character that is inescapable is Nelson Chamisa.

Despite consistent onslaught and assault from ZANU PF violence machinery, the People’s President as Nelson Chamisa is widely known has remained genuine to the people’s cause. The transformational agenda! The change agenda! A new Great Zimbabwe agenda that seeks prosperity and respect for everyone.

In March 2020, just two years after President Chamisa floored Emmerson Mnangagwa in the 2018 general elections, the ZANUPF strongman went vindictive and seized MDC party offices, finances and name and handed them to Douglas Mwonzora via a dubious Supreme Court judgement.

Their plan was to finish Chamisa!

But alas, at the turn of new year on 24 January 2022, a new political movement was birthed. CCC, a movement with a structureless structure!

Within 2 months of existence the new CCC movement went on to post a big win in the March by-elections despite violence that saw the horrendous murder of CCC activist, Mboneni Ncube at a by-election campaign rally in Mbizo, Kwekwe.

From March 2022 up to 23 August general elections, Emmerson Mnangagwa reverted to the Gukurahundi settings where opposition supporters like Tinashe Chitsungo were murdered as the democratic space was totally shut.

CCC gatherings including internal meetings were criminalized. CCC supporters like the elderly in Murehwa were on the deep and bitter end of ZANU PF brutality.

In a show of unmatched resilience, the movement under the able leadership of Nelson Chamisa surged in popularity. Chamisa’s name became a chorus with citizens chanting “Ngaapinde Hake Mukomana” at every pocket of the country.

Despite FAZ and Mnangagwa’s nocturnal tactics to deny urban voters the right to vote, CCC leader Advocate Nelson out polled the octogenarian.

In a grotesque move, ZEC announced Mnangagwa a winner despite SADC and all election observer missions rubbishing the election as a sham.

To divert people’s attention from demanding fresh elections, Mnangagwa targeted his swords on destroying the people’s new movement. This time they used a new character, one Sengezo Tshabangu who claims to be CCC interim Secretary General.

At a lightning pace and with endorsement from Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, Tshabangu recalled CCC MPs, councillors and senators, just over 2 months after general elections.

As we have seen in Mabvuku at the burial of murdered CCC activist, Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, Chamisa’s marriage with the masses is showing no signs of divorce despite Tshabangu recalls and ZANU PF attacks.

Change is coming!

MILITARY COUP: Mnangagwa Meets G40 Faction

-The Return of G40 Faction: A Political Drama Unfolds in Zimbabwe.

Emmerson Mnangagwa meets G40

The G40 faction, once ousted in the November 2017 coup, is making headlines with a symbolic return to Zimbabwe. Ms. Mandiitawepi Chimene, former Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and a prominent member of the G40 faction, currently residing in self-imposed exile in Mozambique, has announced her intention to come back, claiming she is merely on holiday.

The timing is crucial, as President Emmerson Mnangagwa faces increasing pressure to relinquish power. Reports indicate that Ms. Chimene recently met with President Mnangagwa during the commissioning of the Beira-Machipanda railway line, where she pushed for the meeting through senior Mozambican government officials.

Ms. Chimene, who chose not to return to Zimbabwe after the 2017 coup, cited concerns for her safety based on rumors circulating at the time. In an exclusive interview, she clarified her position, stating, “I wasn’t chased away; I never committed any crime, and I am not fighting anyone.” She explained her decision to go into exile, emphasizing that she was in China during Operation Restore Legacy and, upon hearing alarming reports about the situation at home, opted to change her destination on her way back.

Claiming she is not a refugee, Ms. Chimene expressed her desire to return to Zimbabwe but suggested a two-year timeframe, citing the need for adequate rest. She denied any criminal wrongdoing and highlighted her respect for President Mnangagwa, referring to him as “my father” and commending his hard work.

As Zimbabwe watches the unfolding political drama, the reappearance of G40 figures adds an intriguing layer to the country’s complex political landscape, raising questions about the potential impact on the current administration.

Release Wiwa Now, Mnangagwa Told

WiwaWednesday with CCC Namibia District!

22 November 2023

Former CCC Zengeza West MP, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala clocks more than 530 days of state-sponsored incarceration at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison on political charges. The Citizens Coalition for Change has declared Wednesday as an international #WiwaWednesday in solidarity with the illegally jailed cadre.

CCC Namibia district submits that citizens should now pent up their outrage demanding the immediate release of the political prisoner, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, and others. It is now imperative for all progressive citizens to unite against captured courts and the gross abuse of human rights in Zimbabwe. Wiwa has a law firm to run, he is the breadwinner, and his family is languishing in abject poverty on account of politics. This must be resisted with equal measure! Job Sikhala deserves bail as an officer of the court and a bonafide citizen of the motherland.

Solidarity is a core value of social democracy! Injury to one is an injury to all, we should not fear incarceration when our champions are already rotting in prison on concocted charges. Rundu Change Champion, Simbarashe Ndoda urges citizens across the globe to amplify their revolutionary voices demanding the immediate release of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala through peaceful action to shake the corridors of autocracy. Peaceful demonstrations are enshrined in the supreme law of the fatherland hence the dire need to express our disgruntlement on the attempt by the politically bankrupt Harare regime to annihilate the people’s project, Ndoda further elaborated.

Namibia district encourages citizens to gather the valor, mettle, and nerve to confront oppressors advocating for justice, freedom, and equality. Bail is a constitutional right guaranteed in the Constitution of Zimbabwe, it is perturbing that the courts have been weaponized by the unpopular ZANU-PF regime to punish dissenters. At this particular juncture, citizens should resist the attempt to establish a one-party state after rigging elections that were condemned by all observer missions across the universe.

It is now time to peacefully protest against the abuse of the Constitution in Zimbabwe by Mr Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and Cabal. Let’s unite to bring socio-economic transfiguration to our country. Sikhala was denied his political right to represent his people in the Zengeza West Constituency. The people of Zimbabwe should never allow dictatorship to reign in the tea-shaped country between the Zambezi and Limpopo. We must defend constitutionalism and the rule of law. Wiwa must be granted his freedom because he has the right to bail and a fair trial without political strings.

Wiwa is a political prisoner who is suffering for undertaking his duties as the family lawyer to the gruesomely murdered CCC activist Moreblessing Ali. It is inhuman to have Moreblessing Ali’s body being tormented in the mortuary after being slaughtered like a chicken since May 2022. The deceased has not yet been buried since her state-engineered death. This must be confronted by all progressive citizens who believe in the sanctity of life. It is now compulsory to take action against arbitrary arrests and long pretrial detentions.

As we demand justice for Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, it is fundamental to remain focused on the illegitimacy issue after the 23 August shambolic elections. ZANU-PF did not win the elections, it is our obligation to put political and diplomatic pressure on the region, continent, and international communities as the demand for fresh free, fair, and credible elections takes its toll. Let’s embrace dangerous freedom against this diabolical attempt to silence dissenters when the constitution of the country is being torn asunder. Responsible citizens should fight for the independence of the judiciary.

The illegal recalls on democratically elected councilors, mayors, and MPs epitomize the appetite of ZANU-PF to create a one-party state by decimating the alternative government through an imposter. Namibia district comprehends that these are just sideshows to divert us from serious national issues of Mr Mnangagwa’s illegitimate status after subverting the will of the people. CCC can’t recall its officials prematurely, we are a people’s project. Let’s take an organic and pragmatic approach to our national discourse.

In a nutshell, citizens in Namibia urge Zimbabweans to unite against the sadist ZANU-PF regime. Peaceful demonstrations are allowed by law! No need to be intimidated by the clueless regime. Those in the diaspora should also support foot soldiers materially and financially apart from the political and diplomatic pressure they usually give at embassies across the globe.

Fake Buyer Runs Out Of Luck, Jailed

South African Buyer Convicted for Multi-Million Dollar Tile Fraud-

Mr. Hu Dong, a South African buyer, has been arrested and convicted for defrauding Sunny Yi Feng Tiles Company in Norton of a staggering R2.7 million. The elaborate scheme involved Hu using fake proofs of payment to purchase floor tiles on three separate occasions.

Harare regional magistrate Mrs. Letwin Rwodzi presided over the case, and Hu Dong pleaded guilty to fraud. Despite attempting restitution by repaying the full amount to the tile company, he was fined US$2,000. In a twist of events, Hu’s attempt to order an additional $45,000 worth of floor tiles led to the discovery of his fraudulent activities.

Hu Dong’s modus operandi involved misrepresenting his purchasing capacity and sending fabricated proof of payments. He managed to deliver the tiles to undisclosed locations in South Africa after each transaction. However, the company uncovered the deception when he attempted a fourth transaction, prompting his arrest.

During the arrest, Hu attempted a daring escape by tying sheets from the company’s building to escape through a window.

A security guard thwarted his efforts, leading to a confrontation and subsequent arrest. Harare authorities have handed down a 12-month jail sentence, with an additional 12 months suspended, contingent on Hu avoiding similar offenses in the future.- state media

Lorch was sentenced in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

He was given a three-year prison sentence, which was wholly suspended for five years on condition he is not found guilty of a similar offence during the same period.

Blow For ED As Court Nullifies Rigged Bulilima Election

By- The High Court has overturned the election of Zanu PF MP Dingumuzi Phuti, who was initially declared the winner of the Bulilima Constituency election in August 2023.

The nullification came after Bekezela Maplanka, a candidate from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), challenged the election result. Maplanka was granted a default judgment as Phuti did not contest the challenge. Read the ruling:

2. It is declared that the national assembly election at Bulilima Constituency produced an undue return and is nullified.

3. It is ordered that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission be and is hereby ordered to conduct a fresh national assembly election at Bulilima constituency.

The judge also stated that the Registrar of the Electoral Court should send a copy of the judgment to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the Clerk of the Parliament of Zimbabwe. Additionally, the judge ordered Phuti to pay the costs of the lawsuit.

Trevor Ncube Attacks Chamisa For Snubbing The Former Mnangagwa Advisor

By Own Correspondent- Media mogul Trevor Ncube, a former adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has attacked the opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

The attack on Chamisa is seen as Ncube’s covert agenda to manipulate opposition leader Nelson Chamisa to benefit the ruling Zanu PF party.

Ncube, who owns Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) alongside Mnangagwa’s son-in-law Gerald Mlotshwa, launched fresh attacks on Chamisa, accusing him of selfish motives.

According to reports from NewsHawks, Ncube has persistently criticized Chamisa, going so far as to label him a tribalist and dictator.

The media tycoon, who presents himself as a neutral political observer, is alleged to be a partisan player with a history of shifting political allegiances from Zapu to MDC, Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn, Alliance for People’s Agenda (APA), and most recently, aligning with Zanu PF.

Ncube’s political manoeuvres are described as opportunistic and self-serving, with critics asserting that his actions lack discernible ideological foundations.

Notably, he is accused of exploiting political transitions, such as the 2017 coup, to further his media business interests and regain influence after losing control of Mail & Guardian in South Africa.

Further allegations suggest that Ncube sought radio and television licenses to expand his media empire while settling a $2 million debt to the Media Development Investment Fund.

The accusations imply that Ncube’s involvement in Mnangagwa’s advisory council was driven by personal gain rather than a commitment to political principles.

Ironically, Ncube has been vocal in his criticism of Chamisa for not heeding his advice during the period when he served as Mnangagwa’s adviser.

However, a closer examination by NewsHawks reveals that Ncube’s claims of engagement with Chamisa are based on a single meeting in 2016.

Chamisa’s advisers assert that this meeting, which centered around the formation of APA, ended on a sour note when Chamisa declined Ncube’s invitation to join the party.

Chamisa’s camp contends that Ncube’s accusations of non-collaboration and dictatorship are unfounded, emphasizing that Chamisa welcomes ideas and criticism from well-meaning individuals.

They dismiss Ncube’s narrative as a malicious campaign and question the credibility of advice coming from a known Mnangagwa ally.

As tensions escalate between Ncube and Chamisa, the opposition leader remains focused on his role as a bona fide alternative to the current leadership, emphasizing the need to address the country’s critical issues collaboratively.

Mwonzora Escapes Arrest

By- The opposition MDC, led by Douglas Mwonzora, has escaped embarrassment after the Police details and ZESA officials raided its head offices in search of illegal power connections and found nothing.

The party said this happened after allegations that it was not paying electricity bills and tampering with electricity meters at its headquarters.

Mwonzora emphasised that the MDC is a law-abiding and professional party that would never allow its offices to be involved in criminal activities. He said:

Yesterday, acting on a false and malicious “tip off,” ZRP and ZESA officials visited our headquarters, demanding to carry out certain investigations. We agreed, and they did their work. Nothing amis was found at our headquarters all.

We are grateful at the level of professionalism shown by the investigators in this case. What was clear is that people opposed to our leadership wanted to harass and embarrass our organisation through abuse of state institutions.

The MDC is law-abiding and professional and can never allow its offices to be used for crime. We are busy with the program of serious reconstruction of our party to be the effective vanguard of the people to deliver democratic change.

USD25 million Missing Qoki Money: Sithule Says New Buses Were Chopped Down By Rats

Qoki Luxury Coach Scandal: Sithule Blaming Rats and Shifting Accountability.

By Nancy Ndaba | Sithule Tshuma, the Director of Qoki Luxury Coach, has pointed fingers at rats as the culprits behind the downfall of the coach service. Amidst mounting criticism, Sithule deflects blame onto various parties, including investors and Ezra Tshisa Sibanda, accusing him of stirring up trouble.

Rats chopped down the buses… claim by Sithule Tshuma – graphic image

Sithule remains defiant, refusing to acknowledge allegations of fraudulent activities, deception, bullying tactics and bribery, despite a confession in June 2023 detailing a $4000 bribery per permit.

The so called luxury coach, described by investors as an ‘ancestor bus’ imported from the United Kingdom only in July 2023, has left passengers stranded in the jungle due to frequent breakdowns. Disgruntled passengers are still pursuing refunds, highlighting the dire situation faced by those who entrusted Qoki Luxury Coach with their travel.

The controversy escalates as Sithule takes to the Bulawayo Revival Team forum, attacking Ezra Tshisa Sibanda and likening his actions to shaking a jar of red and black ants. The Mthwakazi community, consisting of nearly 450 respected individuals, becomes a battleground for accusations and blame-shifting.

Despite Sithule’s attempt to divert attention, the crumbling projects of Qoki raise questions about her accountability and the future of the luxury coach service. The excuse of rats causing the downfall adds a bizarre twist to a narrative already riddled with controversy and dissatisfaction among Coach investors and passengers.

“Having said that the Club has removed Thembinkosi Lorch from all Club activities until December 12.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is grateful to its sponsors, supporters and the broader community for the space that you have provided in ensuring the rule of law and the clubs value system play out without hinderance.”

The suspension will see Lorch missing two games against Richards Bay and Moroka Swallows in the DStv Premiership.

Pirates will face Richards Bay on 25 November before hosting Swallows on 5 December.

This will be the second time that Thembinkosi Lorch will be out of action this season after missing the opening part of the campaign.-Soccer24 News

Water Augmentation A Priority – Mayor Tabe

By Struggle Desire Nyahunda

Nyahunda Struggle Desire(Gadarmel)

Wiwa Detention: CCC Vows To Take On Emmerson Mnangagwa

Mwonzora Denies Bridging ZESA Prepaid Meter At Party HQ

By A Correspondent| Opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Douglas Mwonzora has denied reports that his party headquarters besieged by ZESA and Police yesterday was enjoying free electricity after bridging the prepaid system.

In a Twitter thread posted on Thursday, Mwonzora said the ZESA and police investigations did not find anything amiss.

He blamed the ZESA and police visit to his party headquarters on enemies bend on embarrassing him and his movement.

“Yesterday, acting on a false and malicious “tip off,” ZRP and ZESA officials visited our headquarters, demanding to carry out certain investigations. We agreed, and they did their work. Nothing amis was found at our headquarters all.

“We are grateful at the level of professionalism shown by the investigators in this case. What was clear is that people opposed to our leadership wanted to harass and embarrass our organisation through abuse of state institutions.

“The MDC is law-abiding and professional and can never allow its offices to be used for crime. We are busy with the program of serious reconstruction of our party to be the effective vanguard of the people to deliver democratic change,” said Mwonzora.

Yesterday, Newsday reported that police and ZESA officers besieged MRT house following a tip off that the movement was enjoying free power after bridging prepaid system.

Cleric Loses Wife Of 32 Years Over Adultery

Prominent preacher Frederick Shumba, founder of World Harvest Ministries in Norton, has been divorced by his wife of 32 years, who accuses him of having many adulterous affairs.

The couple’s divorce was granted by High Court judge Fatima Maxwell after establishing that their marriage has irretrievably broken down.

Among other reasons, Shumba’s wife, Consilia said the cleric would publicly accuse her of prostitution while he himself had many concubines, embarrassing her in front of the world.

She also said Shumba, on three occasions, accused her of trying to kill him.

According to her divorce summons, the parties were married in terms of the then Marriages Act [Chapter 5:11] on the 7 of September 1991.

The couple’s union was blessed with three children.

On 27 August 2019, Consilia issued summons claiming a decree of divorce and ancillary relief.

In her declaration, she stated that the parties’ marriage has irretrievably broken down to such an extent that there were no reasonable prospects of reconciliation.

“She further stated that the defendant committed adultery with several women and treated her with such cruelty as is inconsistent with a normal marital relationship.

“She also stated that the defendant publicly accused her of prostitution and attempting to kill him on three occasions.

“She averred that defendant deserted her for over three years and told her in front of his brothers and her sisters that he no longer loves her and had ‘divorced’ her three years earlier,” read court papers.

Consilia stated that during the marriage, the parties acquired both movable and immovable assets.

She suggested a distribution plan and prayed that each party bears its own costs.

Testifying in court, Consilia accused her husband of trying to elbow her out of their marriage empty handed.

To this end, she said, Shumba had formed a Trust which was registered in his name.

Consilia stated that the properties in the Trust must be subject to distribution as she was not consulted and did not consent to their transfer to the Trust.

She submitted the couple’s house in Norton should be awarded to her and together with other stands in Norton and Gweru.

Shumba’s wife proposed that the cleric be awarded a house in Poorle Road, Twinlakes, Norton and a commercial stand for lodges in Kariba.

She stated that in terms of value, she was getting less than what she proposed should be given to Shumba.

She produced valuation reports prepared by Josephine Chidora of Global World Properties.

The properties were valued as follows; 764 Hertfordshire in Gweru (US$96,000), Govans in Norton (US$18,000), Poorle Road in Norton (US$75,000), Stand 473 in Norton (US$170,000) and stand 1036 in Kariba (US$140,000).

Consilia also testified that the parties were both employed but she earned more than the defendant.

She acquired a family car while her estranged husband got a loan to buy an incomplete house in Kuwadzana.

The court heard the loan was not enough and the car was used to cover the deficit.

However, the parties did not complete the house. They sold it and went to Norton where Shumba had been given a house by his employer.

According to Consilia, they started a car selling business before Shumba left employment and became a full-time pastor, though continuing in the business.

After he left his job, Shumba asked Consilia to leave employment so that she accompanies him in his many visits to congregants’ homes.

She eventually left her employment in 1998.

Justifying her claim, Consilia said they acquired their wealth together and in his absence, she would be the pastor at church and the housewife at home.

She said Shumba would travel to America and bring lots of money and at times she would accompany him on international trips where at times she would sing before he preached.

Consilia said she would also look after their extended family and Shumba’s father.

It was her testimony that three of her children are in America and that in 2017, she visited and found them out of school and with no food in the house.

He said Shumba has not been paying rates and charges for their matrimonial home yet he would bring congregants home for prayer and she would take care of them.

Shumba’s position was that the assets do not belong to the parties and were not available for distribution.

He narrated how a Trust had been formed stating that it was not logic for his wife to say the property registered under a third parties name “was theirs”.

He pointed out that the six-hectare agricultural plot in Norton is state land was not subject to distribution.

Under cross-examination, Consilia conceded that she had not given evidence that the Trust was a fraud and was only registered and valid as at the time of her testimony.

The court then ruled that what is subject to distribution is what belongs to the parties.

The judge ruled, “A decree of divorce be and is hereby granted.

“Plaintiff be and is hereby awarded Stand No. 3 Poorle Road, Twinlakes, Norton as her sole and exclusive property.

“The defendant be and is hereby awarded the commercial stand for lodges in Kariba as his sole and exclusive property.”

From 1989 to 1996, Shumba served as a senior member in the United Assemblies in Africa (UAA) church after rising through ranks.

He was fully employed by the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZETDC).

He then founded his church, World Harvest Ministries which has since spread to major towns in Zimbabwe.

Army Of Officers Deployed To Defend Mnangagwa’s Married-Girlfriend Who Jailed Job Sikhala

VIDEO: Moreblessing Ali’s ghost vs Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend in Harare?

By A Correspondent | Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend, Virginia Mabhiza will forever regret the day (20th June 2022) she shoved herself into the Harare magistrates court premises to secretly converse with the prosecutor persecuting the slain mum of two Moreblessing Ali’s lawyer, Job Sikhala.

Is this LIVE karma? – A womens rights organisation is struggling to function for over a week of embarrassing itself incident after incident while trying to defend Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend to the point that another institution, the Voluntary Media Council’s senior officers were also caught on camera by ZimEye shifting contradictory statements in the sway of trying to block the ghost (or plight) of the slain CCC mother, Moreblessing Ali, whose lawyer remains in jail for more than a year.

The development began on the 15th Nov, and in the below footage the Voluntary Media Council changes statements about video recordings while holding a hearing in which the Women’s Rights NGO that never criticised Herald, ZBC reports harrassing the slain Moreblessing Ali’s lawyer Job Sikhala and her mourning family, is complaining on behalf of
Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend who is behind the jailing of Sikhala, (the NGO) saying the ZANU PF leader’s girlfriend was harrassed by an article that criticises her moral values, as the nation’s new Attorney General, who is also responsible for releasing a dangerous armed robber, and constantly turns her back on weaker women like Moreblessing Ali.

The Women’s Coalition Of Zimbabwe, bolted out of the hearing when they said they do not want it to be video recorded, which action denied Zimbabweans the right to witness the ends of their dramatic behaviour which began last week when they sent an army of officers to their first hearing which they also abruptly pulled out of, after changing statements.

On that day, Wed 15 Nov 2023, there was drama at the VMCZ’s Harare offices when a contingent of officers were deployed to the media council’s building to claim that Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend was harrassed in a recent ZimEye story by Dorrothy Moyo, and the large delegation froze in their tracks when Simba Chikanza demanded that the meeting be live streamed.

Simba Chikanza also stressed that the officers be filmed and be name tagged whenever they address the council, at every point.

In what might be a first of firsts in Zimbabwean history, the large delegation from WCOZ is representing the interests of the most powerful woman in government, Virginia Mabhiza who was recently appointed the nation’s Attorney General, a promotion from her previous powerful role as Mnangagwa’s personal secretary at the Justice Ministry.

Soon after Chikanza’s demand that the meeting be recorded since the Women’s Coalition Of Zimbabwe’s complaint was a world wide appeal rather than a VMCZ one, the officers appeared to change tact, and announced that they had come to the meeting not knowing it would be a public hearing.

Chikanza who was flanked by Moreblessing Ali’s sister Tafadzwa, expressed concern saying that the officers were not sincere since they could not have travelled all the way to the VMCZ’s office in Milton Park in their large number to hold a private meeting since the invitation to the meeting was an extention of their own public engagement.

Chikanza also called out the Womens Coalition Of Zimbabwe over their failure to particularise their allegations since their press statement announced the previous Sunday was responded to within hours of its publishing with requests to particularise their allegations.

“There is not even one of these allegations that had been particularised, and how could they have travelled as an army to a private meeting when their press statement is quite public affair?,” Chikanza asked.

ZimEye has evidence that Mabhiza is more than a girlfriend to Mr Mnangagwa, and yet neither the NGO nor Mrs Mabhiza have ever challenged or disputed this evidence.

ZimEye will broadcast the hearings in their entirely. Among all NGOs, it is only the US based Phumulani Minnesota African Women Against Violence that has done broad based advocacy for Moreblessing Ali to the point of donating money for drone technology to search for her remains when the police were doing nothing to find her. Phumulani, led by its Director Comfort Dondo, has also worked to intervene during the moments the VMCZ was trying to block video recordings.

Also attending the meetings was documentary film maker, Caroline Makamache.

The VMCZ’s conduct raises concern as this is not their first hearing that is below human standard. 2 months ago they blocked villagers dispossessed of their land from attending a VMCZ hearing while they allowed headman to threaten violence on journalists in an attempt to reverse a well researched factual story that is based on court rulings finding him (the headman) culpable. This time seeing a case as serious as the Moreblessing Ali one, a news contributor has caricatured the VMCZ calling it: the Voluntary Mafia Council Of Zimbabwe.

Mberengwa Residents Unhappy With Kuvimba Mining House

Mberengwa residents voiced their discontent with Kuvimba Mining House’s failure to prioritise their needs and concerns. They expressed these concerns following an interview on ZiFM radio, hosted by Farai Mwakutuya, with Member of Parliament for Mberengwa West, Tafanana Zhou, on November 22nd, 2023. The interview centred around the lithium mining activities of Kuvimba Mining House at Sandawana Mine, situated along the Great Dyke.

The interview discussed various aspects related to the mining activities of Kuvimba House at Sandawana Mine and the development of the Mberengwa district. Key points included the relocation of Sandawana Primary School, road rehabilitation, engagement with the local community, employment opportunities, skill development, infrastructure improvements, environmental concerns, and the sponsorship of Chiefs’ courts and a hospital. Here are some of the important points discussed during the interview:

1. Sandawana Primary School will be relocated from its current location.

  1. A road stretching about 10 kilometres from Sandawana to Zverenje is being rehabilitated to connect Mberengwa and West Nicholson.
  2. Kuvimba House has engaged with the local community through their leaders, particularly the Chiefs, to ensure benefits reach the general population.
  3. Tafanana Zhou called for the rehabilitation of roads in Mberengwa district and wants Kuvimba House to pave the roads.
  4. Sandawana Mine has employed approximately 1,000 local people since its reopening, with around 20% of employees being women.
  5. Local businesses are benefiting from the mining activities by supplying goods and services to the mine.
  6. Kuvimba House plans to build 16 Chiefs’ courts and is sponsoring the construction of a hospital.
  7. Tafanana Zhou expressed confidence in Kuvimba House’s efforts to mitigate environmental degradation.
  8. Local residents are suggesting the establishment of a plant for beneficiation in Mberengwa.
  9. Ordinary people in the area desire improvements such as better road infrastructure, hospitals, on-the-job training, and the construction of the Jeka Bridge.
  10. Tafanana Zhou said they won’t pressure Kuvimba into reconstructing the Jeka (Tandavarai) Bridge._

Responding to the interview, residents expressed concern about the prioritisation of benefits for chiefs over community development projects. They argue that funds should be invested in initiatives like clinics, schools, infrastructure, and attracting further investment, rather than solely benefiting local chiefs. Said one resident:

There isn’t anything for people with high academic qualifications from the locals which means little trickles into the communities by way of salaries. Secondly, the idea of overdoing things for chiefs in my view isn’t of any benefit to the suffering people. Chiefs already have hefty perks for doing nothing to the extent of being awarded all-terrain vehicles when police stations and clinics have nothing. Focusing on chiefs in my view is populist and counterproductive. Kuvimba should embark on more meaningful CRS such as perhaps equipping our clinics, and schools, ensuring communities have clean running water, rehabilitation of bridges dip tanks, tarring of roads and constructing a dormitory mini town to serve as a nucleus to attract further investment into the area. District administrators’ offices should be funded to decentralise and have a satellite station there so that our people begin to see development.

The residents also raised concerns about the lack of accountability and transparency in agreements and plans between Kuvimba and the chiefs. They question the absence of concrete timelines and information regarding the mining company’s investment in the community. Dr Takavafira Zhou, the President of the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), said:

There are certainly fundamental weaknesses in the submission by Mp Tafanana Zhou in the ZiFM radio interview.  There is virtually no timeframe for rebuilding and relocation of Sandawana Primary Schools by Kuvimba and the MP sees nothing wrong with that.

There is no timeframe for building a hospital and the MP sees nothing wrong with that.

Chiefs met Kuvimba representatives in Zvishavane but there was nothing concrete agreed upon except verbal promises, and the MP sees nothing wrong with that. Building 16 chiefs’ courts is certainly not a priority for the majority of the people of Mberengwa wallowing in poverty and misery, a consequence of natural resource plunder from Mberengwa during the colonial period and in independent Zimbabwe.

Assuming Kuvimba has employed 1000 locals which is doubtful, has the MP considered the number of workers the Co has? To date, Kuvimba has more than 5000 workers, and 1000 is insignificant. Kuvimba is also well known for its slave wages to general labourers.

Is the MP aware that the construction of a railway line from Mberengwa to Mozambique is at an advanced stage in order to enhance the looting of Lithium by Kuvimba?

Residents also expressed frustration with the lack of infrastructure development in Mberengwa. They complain about the poor state of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, and accuse the mining company of neglecting its responsibility to repair and maintain these facilities. Dr Takavafira Zhou added:

Kuvimba destroyed the Sandawana-Chegato-Mabika-Yorks Road; the Sandawana-Danga-Yorks Road; Sandawana-Mataga road and is now running away from the responsibility of repairing the low-lying bridges, and tarring the roads and now prefers to go through Zverenje and the MP sees nothing wrong with that.

Today Kuvimba has plundered more than 2.5 million tonnes of Lithium from Sandawana and there is virtually nothing to show for this to the people of Mberengwa.

Residents compare the lack of community development in Mberengwa to other mining areas where mines have invested in schools, clinics, and infrastructure projects. Said another resident:

Other communities where there are mines have benefited a lot. Check communities around Mimosa Mine, Zimplats, and Unki. Here in Mberengwa mines don’t even bother to construct proper roads for accessing their mines. We will definitely benefit from those roads as well. Mimosa has built a lot of schools, and clinics, and upgraded the Zvishavane District Hospital to a better standard. If the same can happen in Mberengwa we will be grateful. Just schools and hospitals would be a bare minimum. Or at least adding ma block pazvikoro (at schools) or textbooks, computers and stationery.

Another resident said:

Mberengwa is always open to looting. Where are Inyala Mine, Rhonda Mine even the Original Sandawana Mine?

Residents also called for better representation and understanding of their community’s needs from leaders. They criticised current leaders for prioritising their own interests and called for leaders who prioritise sustainable development and have a better understanding of the community’s needs. Said a resident named Martin:

It’s tragic. Our leaders, political and traditional, put themselves ahead of the people. There can be no better illustration. Chief should have identified more needy people from within their communities instead. But l guess that’s the African way. Mukuru ndiye anotanga kunhonga nyama.

There is also criticism of the Member of Parliament for not actively engaging with the local populace and adequately representing their interests. Fumed one resident:

The legislator needs a lot of help from Lithium Community Group. Let Public Relations or a spokesman/person talk for the mine. Kwete kuti Jeka Bridge rino divider attention ye Kuvimba House. The Legislator does not know the depth of the Mining House’s purse. Yes, the Mining Giant may have their own plans but there is nothing wrong in asking them to look Eastwards. As they have embarked on this huge mining venture they may receive big heavy mining equipment by railway via Ngungumbane who knows.

Jeka Bridge has stood unattended for far far too long. It’s now a nasty eye sore. Zvinotonyadzisa kuti (it’s embarrassing) how many MPs have come and gone vachisiya rakadaro (leaving the bridge in its poor state).

The Jeka/Tandavarai Bridge, located on the Mwenezi River, was swept away by floods in 2017 when the Chimwe Dam walls were breached. As a result, villagers from both sides were unable to cross the river for nearly two months due to the ongoing flooding. Although attempts were made to restore the bridge, it is now described as a makeshift structure. Additionally, there are allegations that the funds allocated for the bridge’s rehabilitation were misappropriated.

“I will tackle election rigging on December 9”: Tshabangu

By A Correspondent- Self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu says he is ready to tackle election rigging in the December 9 by-elections.

Tshabangu has recalled several CCC legislators and councillors triggering the by-elections although Nelson Chamisa, the opposition party president, is battling to block him through the courts.

Last week, Tshabangu recalled another 13 National Assembly members and five Senators as turmoil continues unabated in the opposition party.

However, High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi barred the recall of MPs, Senators and councillors.

Tshabangu’s spokesperson Khaliphani Phugeni yesterday told Southern Eye that rigging started when the party rigged its own internal nomination process allowing Zanu PF to claim electoral victory in the August 23 harmonised elections.

“I am not sure about the talks by the Sadc team but the SG has said on numerous platforms that the rigging started when CCC rigged its own internal nomination process. This weakened the whole system and it gave Zanu PF an opportunity. Tshabangu has started addressing that so that going forward the party is ready to thwart any rigging that might happen,” he said.

However, political analyst Effie Ncube said elections in Zimbabwe were unnecessary, adding that there was a need to deal with the provisions of the Constitution and international human rights issues.

“What we urgently need is anything that will assist the country to produce a dispensation that fully embraces in theory and in practice the provisions of the Constitution and international human rights instruments.

“We need a dispensation that will address the prevailing political and economic crisis that has led to debilitating poverty. This political and economic crisis cannot be addressed until we have addressed disputed electoral outcomes and transitioned away from authoritarian ways of governance,” he said.

Ncube said Zimbabwe needed deep reforms that would enable the country to hold free, fair and credible elections, enable peaceful transfer of power to the winners, and address international isolation. Southern Eye

Man hauled to court over US$128k robbery

By A Correspondent- A 22 year old Harare man appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court facing armed robbery charges after he allegedly teamed up with his accomplices and robbed a motorist of US$128 932 cash.

Learnmore Chiko appeared before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who remanded him in custody to December 14 this year.

It is the State’s case that on an unknown date, Chiko together with Roy Pedzisai Jambaya, George Mapudzi, Massat Chikomo and Justice Chigayo, who are still at large, hatched a plan to rob Bethel Jiri.

The court heard that on the night of August 21 this year, the group armed themselves with wheelspanners and pursued Jiri as she collected cash from two shops.

The accused blocked Jiri at the intersection Bute/Leopold Takawira Street in Harare with Nissan Caravan and Toyota Corolla vehicles.

It is further alleged that the group smashed the rear passenger windows with wheelspanners and stole US$128 932 stashed in two boxes on the back seat and sped off.

However, detectives from the CID Homicide on September 5 were informed that Chiko was involved in the robbery and they detained him at ZRP Mutasa.

Chiko was interviewed and confirmed his involvement in the robbery. He also told the police that he had used his share to buy a Honda Fit vehicle.

Chiko’s co-accused, Jambaya, has already been arrested and he is in remand awaiting trial. NewsDay

“We are committed to assist find missing persons”: ZRP

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) takes cases involving missing persons seriously and is making strides to assist relatives in search of their loved ones within and outside the country, it said yesterday.

Zimbabwe yesterday participated in the International Conference for Families of Missing Persons, a unique forum that brings together families whose loved ones went missing due to conflicts, migration, or other situations of violence.

Zimbabwe has recorded several cases of missing persons including political and human rights activists such as Itai Dzamara, among others.

Approximately 700 families of missing persons from all over the world are meeting to share their experiences and gain inspiration.

Speaking at the conference hosted by the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society in Harare yesterday, ZRP Assistant Commissioner Crispen Lifa said it was their mandate to ensure that thorough investigations for those that are missing are carried out.

He said urged citizens to report all cases of missing persons at the nearest police stations around the country so that it is recorded and the investigations are carried out.

“Whether it’s a missing person within the borders of Zimbabwe or it’s a missing person beyond the borders, police officers are there to assist and investigate.

“In most cases we are dealing with someone who has gone beyond the borders, we engage our Interpol and they ensure that they make follow ups,” Lifa said.

He said the public should ensure that they bring accurate information, which the police will then use to make follow up searches.

Zimbabwe Red Cross Society secretary general Elias Hwenga said the event marked a significant milestone in their joint efforts to provide solace, support, and crucial information to families affected by the heart-wrenching experience of having a loved one go missing.

“This conference offers a unique opportunity for families to be part of a global solidarity network, providing strength through unity.

“This platform will also provide a chance for dialogues with Red Cross and Red Crescent practitioners globally, allowing an understanding of search processes and associated challenges,” Hwenga said in a speech read on his behalf by the society’s human resources and administration director Geshum Hombarume.

He said the meeting served as a conduit for government authorities to establish or reestablish connections with families, fostering ongoing support even in the absence of immediate updates. NewsDay

How New Technologies Are Changing Language Learning?

Language learning holds vital importance in today’s globalized world. It enables individuals to connect, communicate, and collaborate across diverse cultures and regions. The advent of technology has revolutionized traditional language learning methods, offering new and effective ways to acquire linguistic skills. This transformation is driven by integrating innovative tools and digital platforms that enhance the learning experience and make it more accessible to people worldwide.

This guest post will explore how technology is reshaping conventional language learning, making it more engaging, flexible, and interactive for learners of all ages.

The Traditional Language Learning Landscape

In the early days, language learning primarily took place in classrooms through textbooks, lectures, and repetitive exercises. Learners followed structured curricula, often facing limitations in terms of time and location. Challenges emerged as students with varying learning speeds struggled to keep up, and practical language use opportunities needed improvement.

Moreover, the lack of real-world context in learning materials made it difficult to grasp conversational nuances. These conventional methods sometimes fail to cater to individual needs, hindering progress. As technology steps in, these drawbacks are addressed through interactive digital resources and personalized approaches, revolutionizing language education.

The Emergence of New Technologies in Language Learning

Modern education has witnessed remarkable technological progress, reshaping the landscape of language learning. Several innovative tools have emerged, transforming how languages are taught and learned.

1. Mobile Apps and Gamification

One significant development in language learning is the integration of mobile apps and gamification techniques. For instance, language learners can use mobile apps with vocabulary quizzes and challenges resembling games.

This gamified approach makes the learning process more enjoyable and engaging. Imagine a language learning app where users earn rewards or points for correct answers, motivating them to continue practicing.

2. Online Language Learning Platforms

Online language learning platforms have become popular avenues for acquiring new languages. These platforms provide structured courses covering various language aspects, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Learners can access various resources such as interactive exercises, reading materials, and audio recordings.

For instance, learners might follow a comprehensive online course that guides them from basic phrases to complex sentence structures. This flexibility allows individuals to even get soft skill training in Dubai at their own pace and according to their schedules, making education more accessible and convenient. A soft skill training typically include language skills, writing skills, problem-solving, work ethic and emotional intelligence.

3. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies have started making inroads into language learning. Imagine a language learner using VR to simulate conversations with native speakers in a virtual environment, allowing them to practice real-life scenarios.

AR could also enhance vocabulary acquisition by overlaying labels of objects in the learner’s surroundings with their corresponding translations in the target language.

4. AI-powered Language Learning Tools

Artificial Intelligence has brought personalized learning experiences to language learners. AI-powered tools can analyze learners’ progress and adapt the curriculum to their needs.

For example, an AI language learning tool might detect learners struggling with verb conjugations and provide additional exercises and explanations specifically targeting that area.

5. Social Media and Language Exchange

Social media has become a powerful platform for language exchange. Language learners can connect with native speakers of their target language and engage in conversations. This reciprocal learning process benefits both parties as they learn from each other’s language expertise.

Imagine a scenario where a learner looking to improve their French connects with a native French speaker interested in learning their language, and they communicate through text, voice messages, or video chats.

6. Online Tutoring and Video Conferencing

Online tutoring through video conferencing has transformed language learning. Learners can schedule sessions with qualified tutors who provide personalized instruction. These tutors offer guidance, correct pronunciation, and facilitate real-time conversations.

For example, if someone is employed in Sharjah, they may find it beneficial to learn Arabic. Individuals seeking to improve their business communication skills in a foreign language could participate in online tutoring sessions that focus on role-playing various business scenarios. There are training institutes that offer online learning platforms. These platforms have significantly enhanced language learning by providing flexibility, interactivity, and effectiveness for learners from diverse backgrounds. They offer a wide range of courses, interactive lessons, and opportunities for real-time communication with both instructors and fellow learners.

Benefits of Incorporating New Technologies

Integrating new technologies into language learning brings many advantages that enhance the learning process. These benefits contribute to a more effective and engaging learning journey for learners of various backgrounds and learning styles.

1. Enhanced Accessibility and Flexibility

New technologies offer unparalleled accessibility and flexibility, allowing learners to engage with language learning materials anytime and anywhere. With the convenience of smartphones, tablets, and laptops, learners can access language lessons and practice exercises without being bound to a physical location.

This flexibility benefits individuals with busy schedules or those unable to attend traditional classes.

2. Personalized Learning Experience

Modern technologies enable personalized learning experiences tailored to each learner’s pace and preferences. Adaptive algorithms analyze learners’ progress and adapt the content accordingly, ensuring that learners receive appropriate challenges and support.

This approach enhances understanding and retention, as learners can focus on areas needing more practice, leading to more efficient language acquisition.

3. Engagement and Motivation

Incorporating technology often introduces gamification elements, turning language learning into an interactive and enjoyable experience. Gamified learning apps and platforms use rewards, challenges, and competitions to motivate and engage learners.

This approach transforms the learning process from a traditional classroom setting into an exciting journey that encourages consistent practice and active participation.

4. Diverse Learning Resources

New technologies provide access to a wide range of learning resources beyond textbooks. Learners can engage with authentic materials like videos, podcasts, and articles in the target language.

This exposure to real-world content enhances comprehension and familiarity with everyday language use, cultural nuances, and current events.

5. Global Communication and Collaboration

Technology facilitates global communication and collaboration, allowing learners to connect with speakers of the target language worldwide. Language exchange platforms and social media networks enable direct interaction with native speakers, fostering cultural exchange and providing opportunities for practical language practice.

This real-world engagement enhances fluency and confidence in using the language in authentic contexts.

The Challenges and Drawbacks of Technology in Language Learning

While technology offers numerous benefits to language learning, it also presents some challenges that learners should be aware of. Here are important considerations regarding the drawbacks of integrating technology into language education;

  • Inaccurate or unreliable online resources.
  • Reduced face-to-face communication opportunities.
  • Diminished focus on traditional learning methods.
  • Multitasking and reduced depth of understanding.
  • Connectivity problems hinder seamless learning.
  • Concerns over data privacy and online safety.
  • Potential lack of social interaction in solitary online learning.
  • Difficulty grasping cultural context without immersion.

Balancing Technology with Traditional Methods

A compelling blend of technology and traditional approaches is crucial in optimizing language learning. While technology enhances accessibility and engagement, traditional methods provide human interaction and cultural immersion. Combining interactive apps and online resources with in-person conversations and authentic experiences ensures a holistic learning journey.

This balance empowers learners to harness the advantages of both worlds, fostering comprehensive language acquisition and a deeper understanding of cultural nuances.

Conclusion

In conclusion, integrating new technologies is reshaping the landscape of language learning. While technology brings forth accessibility, personalization, and engagement, it’s essential to strike a balance with traditional methods to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. Embracing these innovations equips learners with the tools to thrive in our interconnected world.

Unveiling the Mastery: Exploring the Techniques and Philosophies of Kenjutsu

Kenjutsu, the traditional Japanese martial art of swordsmanship, transcends the mere act of wielding a sword (The katana). Rooted in centuries of samurai tradition, kenjutsu is a profound discipline that combines physical prowess with spiritual and philosophical principles. In this exploration, we delve into the intricate world of ninjutsu, unravelling its techniques and philosophies that have shaped warriors for generations.

The Essence of Kenjutsu:

Kenjutsu, often referred to as the “art of the sword,” goes beyond the external movements of wielding a blade. At its core, it embodies the principles of discipline, focus, and respect – qualities that define the way of the samurai. The art is not merely about defeating an opponent but mastering oneself, achieving a harmonious balance between the physical and the spiritual.

Kamae: The Foundation of Stance:

Central to kenjutsu is the concept of karma or posture. The way a swordsman stands, holds the sword, and moves is crucial to the effectiveness of their technique. Kamae is not just a physical stance; it reflects the mental and emotional state of the practitioner. Each kamae serves a specific purpose, whether it be for defence, offence, or transitioning between movements, emphasising the holistic nature of kenjutsu.

Suburi: Mastering the Basics:

Before engaging in intricate techniques, a practitioner must first master suburi, the basic sword swings. These repetitive movements are designed to instil muscle memory, honing the precision and fluidity necessary for advanced techniques. Suburi is not a mindless exercise but a meditative practice where the swordsman focuses on perfecting each movement with unwavering concentration.

Iaido: The Art of Drawing the Sword:

A distinctive aspect of kenjutsu is iaido, the art of drawing the sword with swift precision. Iaido emphasises the seamless transition from a state of calm awareness to immediate action. Practitioners learn to draw, strike, and re sheath the sword in a single, continuous movement, reflecting the samurai’s readiness to confront any situation at a moment’s notice.

Kata: Choreographed Forms as Teaching Tools:

Kenjutsu is transmitted through kata, choreographed forms that simulate combat scenarios. Each kata is a repository of techniques, strategies, and principles passed down through generations. Practitioners learn not only the physical movements but also the underlying philosophies and strategies embedded within each kata. The mastery of kata is a testament to a swordsman’s understanding of both the tangible and intangible aspects of combat.

Maai: The Art of Distancing:

An essential element of kenjutsu is made, the art of maintaining proper distance from the opponent. Understanding maai is crucial for controlling the flow of a confrontation, enabling a practitioner to strike decisively while remaining outside the reach of the opponent’s blade. Maai requires a keen awareness of timing, spacing, and the ability to read an opponent’s intentions.

Zanshin: Complete Awareness:

In the aftermath of a technique, a swordsman demonstrates zanshin – a state of complete awareness and mindfulness. Zanshin goes beyond the physical act of striking; it involves maintaining mental and emotional presence even after the immediate threat has passed. A swordsman with proper zanshin is always prepared for the unexpected, embodying the samurai’s commitment to constant vigilance.

The Philosophies of Kenjutsu:

Kenjutsu is not just a physical practice; it encompasses a rich tapestry of philosophical principles that guide a practitioner’s journey. The Bushido code, emphasising virtues such as honour, loyalty, and integrity, is deeply intertwined with kenjutsu. The practitioner strives not only to master the art of the sword but to cultivate a character marked by moral strength and resilience. If you want to buy a katana please visit..

Conclusion:

Kenjutsu, with its intricate techniques and profound philosophies, is a martial art that transcends the boundaries of combat. It is a path of self-discovery and discipline, where the sword becomes a metaphor for life’s challenges. As practitioners strive to master the art of the blade, they embark on a transformative journey that extends far beyond the dojo, echoing the timeless wisdom of the samurai through the ages.

Mnangagwa Breathes Fire As Economy Heats Up

By James Gwati– In a high-stakes scenario, the Emmerson Mnangagwa-led Zanu PF government is grappling with escalating demands to adopt dollarization as Zimbabwe’s economy fervently leans towards foreign currencies, leaving the local currency in shambles.

The unmistakable signs of this pressure are evident in the relentless nosedive of the Zimbabwe dollar in the weekly foreign exchange auction—a stark reminder of the imperative for a currency overhaul.

This Tuesday marked a seismic turn of events as the Zimbabwe dollar plummeted by $18.57, averaging $5,774.2758 against the robust United States dollar during the auction. The ongoing saga of the local currency’s decline, though now slowing, underscores a notable shift in transactions towards foreign currencies.

The auction, with a total offering of US$20,000,000.00, saw a robust response with bids totaling US$17,309,350.08, all efficiently allocated. The financial landscape depicted a clear dominance of foreign currency transactions.

With the highest bid rate hitting an astonishing ZWL$5,792.0000, and the lowest bid rate allotted at 5,760.0000, the unmistakable trend away from the struggling local currency becomes more pronounced.

In a poignant twist, the Retail Auction unfolded a compelling narrative, with the highest allotment of US$866,444.48 for raw materials, closely followed by machinery and equipment at US$586,565.83. The growing reliance on foreign currencies in these vital sectors amplifies the case for a swift transition to a dollarized economy.

As economic dynamics intensify around the U.S. dollar, Mnangagwa confronts surging demands from both the public and the market to lead Zimbabwe towards a dollarized future. The scorching economy calls for a decisive response, placing the government under relentless pressure to embrace a foreign currency-dominated landscape.

Brave Mum Snatches Baby From Baboon Mouth

By– A brave Gwanda mother has narrated how she saved her 18-month-old baby from the mouth of a baboon that was about to devour the baby.

Petronella Moyo was cleaning her house in West Nicholson on November 16 when the baboon sneaked in and snatched her son after sinking its teeth in his buttocks.

“I was scrubbing the floor in the bedroom and the child was playing near the door. Suddenly I heard the baby screaming and when I turned to check what was happening I saw the baboon already dragging him,” Moyo told the Voice of America’s Studio 7.

“I started chasing after it until it let go of him. The wound is very deep.”

Moyo said she had almost given up hope of getting her son alive.

“The verandah for my house is quite high and when I saw the baboon jump over with him, I feared the worst. I thought he was dead,” she said.

The baby is expected to make a full recovery at Gwanda Provincial Hospital.

Attacks on humans by baboons are extremely rare, and victims are usually hunters who would have cornered the animal.

Baboons have very sharp canine teeth and claws which can injure and even kill their victims.

A well reported death in a baboon attack occurred in June 2003 in the remote North West village of Madipelesa outside Pampierstad in South Africa.

A young mother watched helplessly as a baboon snatched and ripped open the skull of her three-month-old tot and ate his brain.

Lettie Goitsimang Tukane, 34, said the baboon climbed up a telephone pole and ate the brain before disappearing into nearby bushes.

Tukane said her son Neo was sleeping in a bed in one of the rooms while she was busy washing dishes in another room when she heard his screams.

She said when she rushed outside, she saw a big baboon carrying Neo under one of its arms. She tried to scare it off but the baboon was aggressive and it wanted to attack her too.

She blamed witchcraft.

Luxury Apartments Named After President Mnangagwa

By Business Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa Monday broke ground at the US$100 million Millennium Park development in Borrowdale West, signalling the construction of the premium luxury 86-unit block of apartments aptly named ED Block during a well-attended housing delivery ceremony.

The block has a limited offer of ultra-luxury penthouses, an offering that separates the development from any other in Harare.

A total of 1000 apartments are under construction, with 200 already complete. A shopping mall, office blocks and other social amenities will be constructed to complete the live, work, shop and play theme that WestProp is championing under the ‘Bring Dubai to Zimbabwe” mantra.

He was handed a befitting token of a gold-plated ceremonial brick numbered 1,464,018. The brick represents the first brick that would be laid on block 4.

WestProp Chief Executive Officer Mr Ken Sharpe gave a brief analogy and road map for the development, adding that his company has a vision of laying one billion bricks by 2050.

“Today marks a very important day in our milestone achievements. We are breaking ground for the construction of Millennium Heights Block 4 luxury apartments and we continue to move towards achieving our 0ne billion brick vision by 2050,” he said.

The vision was developed during his three-year stint at Havard University in the United States of America.

The company has laid 5,199,711 bricks at all its developments – Pomona City, Millennium Heights and Pokugara representing six per cent of the total number of earmarked bricks.

Mr Sharpe described President Mnangagwa as “a listening President and allowing businesses and investors to feel secure about the continued use of the multi-currency regime.

“ The extension to 2030 has given us confidence and a renewed resolve to commit more resources to help develop Zimbabwe. If I may say so Mr President, this will secure your legacy to make Zimbabwe an upper middle-income country. Sevana veZimbabwe tichavaka nyika kusvika zvanaka.”

Mr Sharpe said his company was bringing various global architectural designs to Zimbabwe as a way of making the country’s urban landscape competitive.

“My ambition as a loyal Zimbabwean is to bring the beauty we see elsewhere back home. The dream is to see Harare’s skyline compete with what we see in places like Dubai, London and Singapore.

“Last month I was in Kyiv Ukraine and was quite amazed at the number of new world-class skyscrapers that are being built, and if a country that is at war with Russia can do it then why can’t we?”.

He said WestProp is working to make “our precincts 24-hour cities where life reverberates around the clock”.

The new block, which ranks as the best apartment building to date in Zimbabwe is almost 50 percent sold out before the first brick has been laid.

It has six levels comprising 86 units on cascading floors. The units are composed of studio apartments to 3-bedroom apartment units.

The apartments have sectional title, reticulated backup borehole water, central and reticulated liquefied petroleum gas, solar energy and grey water collection.

One of the key features of our blocks is the existence of abundant openings and a skylight, allowing natural light to penetrate, thus diminishing the need for artificial illumination. This design feature not only accentuates sustainability but also contributes to a healthier living environment.

A distinctive feature of Blocks 3 and 4 is the incorporation of vertical gardens. These living installations not only beautify the architecture but also foster a connection with nature, enriching the lives of our residents. There is an emphasis on sustainability that transcends aesthetics. The buildings are designed to encourage the use of stairs over mechanical elevators, thanks to thoughtful layout and design.

Additional features of this community include sports facilities for tennis, swimming, running, and walking tracks, green energy, reticulated gas and borehole water.

Mnangagwa’s Married Girlfriend

Moreblessing Ali’s ghost vs Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend in Harare?

As Moreblessing Ali’s family refuse to bury their loved one 2 years after she was killed by ZANU PF activists, Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend, Emmerson Mnangagwa’s married girlfriend, Virginia Mabhiza will forever regret the day (20th June 2022) she shoved herself into the Harare magistrates court premises to secretly converse with the prosecutor persecuting the slain mum of two’s lawyer, Job Sikhala.

Is President Being Forced To Fire Judges?

– An injury to one is an injury to all as opposition lawyers try to pressure the president to dismiss judges.

BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA | The opposition CCC and civic organizations, opposing the government of ED MNANGAGWA and ZANU PF, have hatched a plan to replace judges on the bench with those compliant to opposition demands. Under intense pressure from Lawfare lawyers, including Beatrice Sibale Mtetwa and Advocate Thabani Mhofu Mpofu, the Chief Justice and JSC are now perceived as endorsing the opposition’s efforts to harass and dismiss judges.

The number of judges fired in the new dispensation exceeds those fired during Mugabe’s 37-year rule. The strategy aims to tarnish ED’s reputation with the judiciary. Questions arise about Justice Chinamhora’s status as the focal point for Thabani and Beatrice’s actions.

Critics argue that the Chief Justice, embroiled in sexual abuse scandals, has failed to support his judges and has become a mouthpiece for the opposition. Allegations against Justice Chinamhora lack substance, creating doubt about a hidden conflict between the CJ and Chinamhora.

In February, the JSC recommended tribunals to investigate Justices Webster Chinamora and Martin Makonese, seemingly based on their judgments favoring the government. Lawfare architects, urging the president to appoint a tribunal, aim to remove judges and align them with the opposition.

Despite allegations, the President cannot be blackmailed into setting a tribunal; it is his discretion. The Chief Justice’s involvement raises concerns about protecting judges and maintaining judicial independence. Beatrice Mtetwa’s open letter adds to suspicions of an orchestrated agenda against the judiciary.

Chinamhora’s case is presented in the press, fueling speculation. The selective targeting of judges perceived as pro-government suggests a larger, darker agenda. The regime change narrative now focuses on judges, with the JSC seemingly complacent.

Section 187 of the constitution outlines the process to remove a judge. Pressure on the President to set a tribunal questions the separation of powers. Beatrice Mtetwa’s advocacy and the focus on Chinamora raise suspicions about hidden motives.

Chinamora’s perceived pro-government stance invites relentless pressure. In terms of Section 187, removal requires incapacity, incompetence, or misconduct—none alleged in Chinamhora’s case. The President’s resistance to external pressure demonstrates a commitment to upholding the constitution.

Chinamora’s pro-government rulings have made him a target. Attacks on judges involved in electoral court duties indicate a concerning pattern. The JSC’s failure to protect judges exposes them to public scrutiny. A CJ’s legacy should be judged by mentorship, not dismissals.

JSC’s inaction in protecting judges makes them vulnerable to attacks. Addressing these issues promptly is crucial to prevent further escalation against the judiciary and the government. Respect for judges and holding accountable those disrespecting the judiciary is paramount.

Tendai Biti Exposed By US Woman Over Chamisa Accusations | BREAKING

By A Correspondent | A US Womens Rights Director has broken silence to call out the disgruntled barrister and former Harare East MP, Tendai Biti over his accusations that his colleagues in the CCC party crashed his political career earlier this year.

Writing on Monday evening, the outspoken Comfort Dondo said Biti created his own mess from scratch at a time when he could have saved the entire nation from the ZANU PF engineered collapse.

She said Biti had more than capacity to get Emmerson Mnangagwa banned for life from SADC, AU, and UN meetings, and after helping salvage the dictator’s career, it is him (Biti) who’s now been blocked by his own ‘baby,’ ED.

She spoke of how Biti even sabotaged her own attempts at stopping the ongoing abductions happening in Zimbabwe, and the winning legislator, Allan Markham, who Biti has accused of rigging even tried to help him (Biti) execute the Messaiahnic-role back in Sept 2022.

Biti is still to comment over the strong allegations. (click to read)

Meanwhile, she wrote on her Twitter handle saying:

Breaking my silence finally!!!!

Biti come here and deny this, that you turned your back in Sept 2022, when you cared not a thing to save both your career and the lives of Zimbabweans, when you perfectly KNEW that I and other Zimbabweans were stranded in Zambia with your lawyer, as we waited for you.

I SAID COME HERE, TENDAI! HUYA PANO!

Tendai Biti you missed a chance to change both the future of the Zim people and your career, on multiple times since Aug 2021, when you flew to Zambia to celebrate HH’s inauguration.
You should have continued your lawsuit against the Zambian government, this time demanding an apology for the state’s role in assisting ED do a coup on Chamisa, in his [the] 2018 forced deportation.
13 months later, now in Sept 2022, I was part of a mission spearheading a facilitation for Biti to launch his case, in a an attempt to beat time and do everything before the 2023 elections.

I spent nearly 2 weeks blowing 7K in Zambia waiting for you to turn up but you dodged even returning phonecalls.

I sat down for 2 hours with
Biti’s Zambian lawyer, who confirmed to me that he (Biti) and colleagues can obtain a Zambia Court UN level verdict that can before end of 2022 get ED de-registered at UN, SADC, and AU institutions over the coup he did between 1st and 9th Aug 2018. This is so since there is clear broadcast evidence that ED overthrew an elected govt at its inception on 1st to 9th Aug 2018, and the crime happened in 2 cities, Harare and Lusaka *culminating in the deportation of Biti. A record of events in Zambia shows with pristine clarity that it was a crime against humanity and part and parcel of Mnangagwa’s coup. There is thus more evidence of an insurrection in 2018 than there is for the 2017 coup, which needs to be cured, or at least announced for what it was/is. Without this UN level announcement, it would be difficult to enter the 2023 polls with changes of winning anything.

Biti looked away from this amazing opportunity.

Fast forwards to March 2023, Biti was phoned multiple times being warned that a ZANU PF businessman he is at loggerheads with has ordered the Justice Ministry to ensure that he fails to contest the 2023 elections. The instructions were very clear, but Biti who could have discouraged that plan did not care to return phonecalls.

How he now seems to blame his CCC colleagues for his failure to contest is just baffling.

Biti could have gotten ED blocked from attending SADC meetings at the earliest opportunity and in 2022, the Senior Zambian diplomat and Mnangagwa childhood friend, Ambassador Vernon Mwaanga emphasises of this: ” A firm commitment to democracy and to the holding of free and fair elections both the African Union and sad C have got very specific provisions to the protocols demanding that all member States should hold free and credible elections, whose outcome should represent the will of the people ….. The will of the people not the will of the leaders but the will of the people, because the people are the centre of democracy, so it has to be understood that as we move forward as a country and as the continent, that we must respect the wishes of the people by not interfering with elections, and by not interfering with people who are actually going to take part in voting the leaders of their choice.

“This is extremely important, unless members of SADC and the AU adhere to these provisions of the OAU; the AU, and SADC are committed to which we are all committed as member states because we approved those provisions, and it’s important that we should not just approve, we should always make sure that the will of the people is respected. “

Ambassador Mwaanga said under normal circumstances, someone like Emmerson Mnangagwa, whose administration recently banned a film that exposes his 2018 coup, should not be allowed into SADC meetings.
I’m personally very disappointed in this kind of politicking at the expense of Zimbabweans.

Mining firms paint gloomy economic outlook

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe’s large-scale mining companies have painted a gloomy picture of the economic outlook as business confidence wanes due to an unfavourable operating environment and depressed commodity prices.

The capital-intensive sector is the southern African nation’s top foreign currency earner followed by tobacco exports.

According to the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe, the mining industry currently contributes 70% to foreign direct investment, 80% to exports, 19% to government revenues, 3% to direct formal employment, and 13.5% national income (GDP and GNI).

A new survey by the Chamber of Mines has shown that mining executives are generally pessimistic about prospects of their business in 2024.

“Notable variables that weigh down their confidence include depressed commodity price outlook, gloomy investment environment, inadequate foreign exchange and infrastructure bottlenecks,” reads the State of Mining Industry Survey Report for 2024.

“Mining executives expect the mining policy and legislative environment to remain challenging in 2024 citing frequent policy reversals and unresolved legislative and policy matters as environment for the mining industry as key areas of concern.”

The mining business prospects are measured by the Mining Business Confidence Index (MBCI) which gauges the mining business sentiments (optimism or pessimism) about the prospects of the mining industry in the next 12 months.

The MBCI is interpreted from a scale ranging from -100 to +100, with the lowest score representing the least level of confidence and the biggest score representing the highest level of confidence.

A score of 0 to +100 indicates that mining executives are optimistic about the prospects of their businesses while a score of 0 to -100 indicates that mining executives are pessimistic about the prospects of their businesses.

The MBCI gauges the mining business sentiments (optimism or pessimism) about the prospects of the mining industry in the next 12 months.

The 2024 prospects for the mining industry, as measured by the MBCI are negative and lower than that recorded for 2023.

This means that mining executives are generally not confident (pessimistic) about the prospects for their businesses in 2024.

The study shows that overall MBCI will drop to -0,3 from 9,4 this year. The study also shows that most mining executives are expecting the profitability of their business to decline, largely weighed down by subdued commodity prices and high-cost structure.

“Most mining executives expect their mineral earnings to decline on the back of softening commodity prices and high-cost structure,” the study shows.

“While mining companies plan to ramp up production to compensate revenue losses due to low prices, the increase in production will be more than offset by a disproportionate decline in prices.

Ezoic

“Most mining executives expect the commodity market conditions to worsen in 2024. They are anticipating commodity prices to further slowdown in 2024, mostly for PGMs and base metals citing geo-political tensions and weak global economic outlook.”

Mining executives expect their cost of production to increase upwards of 10% due to anticipated electricity tariff increases, high cost of funding and high royalties and taxes, the study further shows. The NewsHawks

Fake cops target Harare motorists

Police in Harare have launched investigations into a case in which some bogus security agents are moving around with a Toyota Wish “arresting ” and extorting motorists after accusing them of committing traffic offences in and around the city.

The bogus security agents target motorists at traffic-controlled lights.

They then accuse the victims of driving through a red traffic light before or interfering with the movement of a motorcade or senior Government officials before robbing them.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations are now being conducted with a view of arresting the perpetrators.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are currently underway in connection with the viral social media audio on alleged robbers or criminals who are using a Black Toyota Wish vehicle and posing as members of the security services from Zimbabwe Republic Police, Zimbabwe National Army and President’s Office, to target and prey on unsuspecting motorists.

“The targeted motorists are initially accused of either going through a red traffic light, disturbing or interfering with the movement of State motorcade or senior Government officials before being robbed,” he said.

He said one of the suspects is reported to be moving around wearing the Zimbabwe Republic Police uniform while others claim to be from Zimbabwe National Army or President’s Office.

“Motorists are implored to drive to any nearest police station if approached by this syndicate and to alert the Zimbabwe Republic Police, National Complaints Desk on telephone number (0242) 703631 or Harare Operations number (0242) 748836.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has intensified efforts to ensure that the suspects are arrested for the law to take its course,” Asst Comm Nyathi said. The Herald

Suspect’s death opens pandora’s box

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has been accused of covering up its officers’ attack on a handcuffed suspect, who later died in holding cells at Banket Police Station, last month.

The now deceased David Kanyenze (26) was assaulted by three unidentified ZRP Neighbourhood Watch Committee (NWC) members within the police camp and succumbed to injuries on October 21.

The victim was reportedly rushed to hospital already dead, merely to conceal the fact he had passed on within police premises.

His body was transferred from Banket and put in a non-functional mortuary at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, where it decomposed before a postmortem to establish the cause of death was done.

Initially set for November 9, 2023, the postmortem was hurriedly conducted five days earlier when the body was already rotten and maggots feeding on the few remaining pieces of human flesh.

David was laid to rest at Banket Cemetery on November 5 amid doubt that justice had been served by police.

The Kanyenze family is distraught and feels there was unprofessionalism on the part of ZRP, which allegedly let the body rot to destroy evidence and shield its members from facing justice for cold-blooded murder.

Family spokesperson and deceased’s elder brother, Brian Kanyenze said he experienced horror seeing his late sibling’s body riddled with maggots.

“Police informed us that the postmortem had been rescheduled for November 4 at Harare Hospital. We then proceeded to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital mortuary to collect the body but we found freezers switched off and the state of the deceased’s body was horrifying, it had decomposed and it was all maggots.

“The body had decomposed to the extent that when it was taken for postmortem in Harare, the doctor noted the state of decomposition and said he could not conclusively say what caused my brother’s death.

“As a family we were not satisfied with the doctor’s findings as well as an explanation by police detectives who argued the matter could not be taken any further since there no longer was concrete evidence to nail alleged perpetrators,” said Brian.

He said they later grudgingly buried David’s remains to allow his soul to rest in peace, but the family had pursued the spirituality route to get “supernatural” justice as the law had failed them.

“Both our parents are deceased but as siblings we agreed and consulted traditional and faith healers to trigger David’s avenging spirit to deal decisively with his killers because the justice delivery system has failed us concerning his death,” said Brian.

Although efforts to get comment from ZRP national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi this week proved fruitless, earlier police pledged to leave no stone unturned in establishing what transpired on the fateful day leading to David’s death.

Nyathi recently confirmed unidentified members were now under probe, although one of them has disappeared from his homestead.

“There are a number of issues we need to clarify as ZRP command…It’s a matter we are currently investigating as we await postmortem results which will also guide our investigations.

“But l can assure you, it is an issue we are seriously looking into so that we really establish what transpired, from the arrests, we are looking at all the events leading to the unfortunate death.

“We will not sweep anything under the carpet. We will be very open and objective in our investigations, that l want to assure the public,” said Nyathi then.

Sources said that the three police NWC members in question took turns to beat up Kanyenze using unidentified objects resulting in him sustaining grievous bodily injuries. As if that was not enough, one of them stomped the suspect twice on the neck and chest, thereby choking him.

The now deceased, a tout for pirate taxis plying the Banket—Chinhoyi route, was wanted by police for malicious damage to property after allegedly destroying a weighing scale at a butchery situated at Kuwadzana shopping center in Banket.

The butchery equipment was damaged in an altercation between workers at an adjacent canteen and David, who refused to pay for food he had eaten complaining it was poorly cooked.

Following his arrest, the now deceased was hauled to Banket police where he was thrown into cells but later escaped from lawful custody.

He was re-arrested at Kuwadzana shops by NWC members and, again, taken to the station, where they started beating him up around 5pm.

They later abandoned the bloodied victim in the cell battling for his life.

Other cell inmates raised alarm after sensing the victim was having difficulties in breathing. He was then rushed to Banket District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has expressed interest in assisting the Kanyenze family to get justice for their slain relative.

“I can confirm that papers for that particular case have been prepared and are ready for filing at court,” said a ZLHR official. NewZimbabwe

Zanu PF councillors boycott meeting in protest

By A Correspondent- Council proceedings at Insiza Rural District Council were abruptly halted on Monday due to a boycott by ZANU-PF councillors, reportedly in protest against the council chairperson, Reason Msipha, who was elected with the support of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members.

Sources within the council indicated that the ZANU-PF councillors are unhappy with Msipha’s chairmanship, which they believe was only possible due to CCC votes.

“We had a full council meeting today, we were supposed to start at 10 am, but right now it’s 12 midday and we are still waiting, when we got here, all ZANU-PF members went outside and had their meeting, we don’t know what is happening or what they are planning. The rumour is that they want to change the whole structure of chairpersons. They want Reason Msipha to step down, we don’t know what to do,” said one councillor.

The councillor added that the boycott was meant “to frustrate us so that we could leave and they vote again on their own and change everything. They don’t want the chairperson of social services”.

The Zanu PF councillors held a separate meeting outside the council chambers before adjourning the full council meeting without providing any explanation.

According to another councillor, the ZANU-PF members are seeking to change the council’s leadership structure to remove Msipha and replace him with their preferred candidate, Luke Dube, who lost the election to Msipha. They are questioning how Msipha secured votes from CCC members and are reportedly pressuring him to resign.

Msipha, however, has reportedly refused to step down, stating that he was duly elected and should not be forced out.

Contacted for a comment, Msipha declined to comment saying he would first consult his party before responding. CITE

Gvt worried over late cotton farmers payments

Government says it is troubled by late payments of cotton farmers by contractors including the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (COTTCO) which still owes textile growers over US$6.8m from last season.

Responding to questions on government policy over late payments to cotton farmers in parliament recently, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Anxious Masuka said his office summoned COTTCO who promised to clear the arrears by the end of November.

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change legislator for Chipinge South, Clifford Hlatshwayo quizzed Masuka on why COTTCO was taking too long to settle payments to farmers in time.

“Farmers who delivered their cotton to COTTCO are yet to be paid. What is Government policy in paying those farmers so that they can go back to the land,” queried Hlatshwayo.

In response, Masuka said the government only played an oversight role between farmers and cotton contractors.

“What happens is that companies that deal with cotton and the cotton farmers will have to make arrangements but the Government will oversee that the cotton farmers have the necessary inputs and are paid in time,” said Masuka.

“Government looks forward to cotton companies paying the farmers on time so that they can prepare for the next farming season. I only know of COTTCO, these are the farmers that are behind in being paid. Government has 30% shareholding in COTTCO.

“We discussed about it yesterday and they said they still owe US$6.8m, and they have promised to pay their farmers before the end of this month as they are now able to sell the cotton.”

Following up on Masuka’s submissions, Hlatshwayo said the money owed to farmers was now being eroded by inflation due to late payments.

“I was suggesting that they be paid before the rains come. Farmers are worried about the non-payment of cotton delivered last year. The money is now being eroded by inflation and farmers are not being advised on the issue of payment, they are just assuming.

“Those companies that are representing farmers are not updating them,” said Hlatshwayo.

In response, Masuka added: “We said COTTCO is the one that has been owing farmers and they said right now they have $6.8 million that they expect to pay the farmers before the end of this month. I will repeat it before the end of this month. It is not the Government.

“It is the contractors that engaged the farmers and made contracts with farmers. Government is actually troubled by this. That is why we called them to tell us when they are going to pay the farmers and they assured us that they are going to pay before the end of this month.”

Masuka said that the government is currently enquiring to get terms and conditions agreed between farmers and contractors ahead of the farming season.

“We also need adequate information between all the contractors and the farmers so that we aggregate the information and see where there might be gaps in terms of information so that we ensure farmers are paid on time.” NewZimbabwe

US$200 bail for Kereke

By A Correspondent- Munyaradzi Kereke, a former adviser to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor, was yesterday granted US$200 bail in a case in which he is accused of fraud involving US$400 000.

Kereke, who is being charged together with suspended Harare Municipal Medical Aid Society (HMMAS) chief executive officer Everisto Rukasha, was granted bail by Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.

“Since both of the accused are on bail pending trial, it shows that they have never flouted bail conditions granted to them by the higher courts. To say they are flight risks when they have never shown any intention to flee does not hold water,” Gofa said.

Allegations are that sometime in early 2014, Rukasha and Kereke agreed to enter into an agreement, whereby the latter would sell his immovable property, Fortress Hospital located at number 9653 Ruwa Township, Chipukutu, Sebastopol, to HMMAS.

Kereke then appointed one Newton Madzika, the managing director of Health Body Images (Pvt) Ltd, to conduct the transaction on his behalf.

On November 7, 2014, HMMAS met its obligation by depositing the full purchase price of US$800 000 into Health Body Images’ bank account.

On March 18, 2022, Rukasha allegedly connived with Kereke to defraud HMMAS. Kereke wrote to HMMAS misrepresenting that the latter still owed him US$400 000 for the purchase of the property.

Kereke then approached the HMMAS board threatening to repossess the property which was still in his name and made it clear to it that he was still in possession of the title deeds to the property.

Resultantly, HMMAS authorised payment towards the liquidation of the fraudulently-generated debt.

The duo were remanded to December 13 pending trial. NewsDay

CCC supporters intimidated

By A Correspondent- Ruling Zanu PF party activists have been accused of intimidating suspected Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters as well as threatening to confiscate agricultural inputs they received from government ahead of by-elections held on Saturday.

By-elections were held in Gutu West to fill a vacant parliamentary seat.

There were also local government elections in Hurungwe, Kusile, Nkayi, Vungu and Zvimba.

Zanu PF won all the contested seats except Kusile that went to the CCC.

In a statement, Zimbabwe Election Support Network (Zesn) condemned the intimidation of CCC supporters.

“There was a report of intimidation in Jotsholo Village 13 of Kusile ward 13, where it was reported that Zanu PF allegedly threatened to confiscate seed and fertiliser donations from villagers suspected of supporting the CCC party,” the report said.

“Zesn continues to encourage registered voters’ participation and voting in peace in all National Assembly and local authority elections as these are important and accord voters the opportunity to choose leaders of their choice who will be responsible for service delivery in their areas.”

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) last week also identified Zanu PF activists as the main perpetrators of political violence ahead of the by-elections.

Zanu PF acting director for information, Farai Marapira, however, said that the accusations were not true.

“The President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) has been very clear on this issue of us operating democratically and peacefully,” Marapira said.

“This is not Zanu PF characteristics and in the absence of evidence, we cannot say that this thing has happened because we have seen a lot of false accusations that come from the opposition. I do not believe that something like this actually happened.”

Meanwhile, Zesn noted with concern the low turnout in the by-elections, with an average of 35%.

“The low turnout clearly indicates that voters have less interest in local authority by-elections,” the report said.

“As of midday, Zesn observers noted that across the five polling stations in Kusile RDC [rural district council] ward 13, voter turnout stood at 32%.

“Across all the polling stations where Zesn had observers in Hurungwe RDC, voter turnout stood at between 25% and 30% as at midday. In Nkayi RDC ward 11, voter turnout stood at 40% after 578 out of 1 452 registered voters voted,” it said.

Only Gutu West had the highest number of people who turned out to vote, with an average of 60%.

Zesn called on political parties to promote voter education and awareness of local government elections to boost participation in electoral processes.

“Political parties should make efforts to increase the political literacy of their supporters so as to raise the level of interest in local authority elections.” NewsDay

Bishop forces congregants to chant Zanu PF slogans

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF cleric Bishop Andby Makururu at the weekend forced his congregants to chant ruling party slogans and dance to Mai Welly, a ruling party campaign jingle produced by Chief Hwenje.

Makururu was addressing hundreds of his congregants in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West province, on Sunday, where Provincial Affairs minister Marian Chombo was the guest of honour.

Makururu, who is the leader of Johannes Fifth of Africa Church, is on a whirlwind tour of the country’s 10 provinces meeting his members.

“Who said that we should not do a slogan in church?” Makururu asked rhetorically when called for a comment.

“It is there even in the Bible that we should support our government in power. The government which is there was put in place by the people and if you do not support the ruling government, then there will be no peace in the country.”

In her address, Chombo said apostolic sects played a key role in mobilising support for Zanu PF ahead of the August 23 and 24 polls.

“Churches played a crucial role for our peaceful elections and Bishop Andby Makururu was everywhere in the country praying for peaceful elections,” she added

Makururu also caused a storm at the Zanu PF conference in Gweru recently, where he said they would pray for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to extend his term of office beyond 2028. NewsDay

Is Mnangagwa Dead? So Why Use His Portrait Like A Coffin’s?

We usually put potraits on coffins, writes Onias Mazoe.

Why on earth did the SADC condemned ZANU PF leader placate his own portrait at his meeting, thousands of kilometres away in Egypt?, Zimbabweans asked last night. This was as Emmerson Mnangagwa held a meeting with diasporans in the North African country during his visit there.

Experts call for the review of abortion laws

By A Correspondent- Health experts have called for unsafe abortion to be considered a public health concern by amending laws on abortion.

Zimbabwe records an estimated 80 000 unsafe abortions annually.

My Age Zimbabwe director Onward Gibson said unsafe abortions were contributing to maternal deaths, infertility, among other health threats.

“There is urgent need to improve access to comprehensive reproductive health services, including contraception, family planning, and comprehensive sexuality education, which can help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and subsequently lower the demand for abortions,” he said.

Community Working Group on Health executive director Itai Rusike said restrictive abortion laws must be amended or repealed.

“In the country, as in other southern African countries, four out of 10 pregnancies are unintended or unplanned and 25% of those unintended pregnancies end in abortion,” Rusike said.

“Many women and girls are driven into the shadows because of restrictive abortion laws and a lack of clarity about their provisions. The topic of abortion is taboo within the African context and cultures, as it is not openly discussed although evidence shows that it happens frequently.”

Indications are that many women and girls are seeking abortion services in unhygienic conditions where people, who are not trained to address complications when they arise, perform the abortions.

The 1977 Termination of Pregnancy Act is the main legal document for abortion services.

“However this Act creates many challenges as it is not well known by most people who may qualify for the limited service that is permissible under the law,” Rusike said.

“Lack of awareness of the Act creates confusion and fear among women and girls preventing them from seeking safe abortion services, while the tedious legal procedure to procure the safe termination at some health institutions may also prevent service providers and others from helping them to access the service,” he said. Debt haunts Beitbridge Municipality

By A Correspondent- Beitbridge Municipality has been forced to introduce a four-day water-shedding regime after the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) restricted supplies over an outstanding debt.

This is at a time when cholera is spreading across the country with 7 000 confirmed cases and 142 deaths to date. The municipality owes Zinwa ZWL$1,7 billion for water supplies.

Zinwa took over all water and sewage functions from most councils countrywide in 2006 following a government directive.

The unpopular decision was reversed after it was challenged in court, but Zinwa is still responsible for water supply to councils such as Beitbridge.

In a statement, the municipality said it was forced to introduce a tight water-shedding regime after Zinwa restricted water supplies to the border town.

“(The) Municipality of Beitbridge would like to advise residents and stakeholders that the town is under a restricted water supply schedule. This is due to low or non-payment towards water debts by ratepayers,” council spokesperson Raniel Ndou said.

“Currently, the municipality is paying Zinwa ZWL$35 million a week, while Zinwa is demanding that we pay between ZWL$40 million and ZWL$50 million per week.

“During this period, Zinwa has advised that it will restrict water supplies to four times per week.”

Ndou pleaded with residents to pay their bills.

“This can improve if we all mobilise our resources and pay our bills. The municipality is thus appealing to residents and stakeholders to prompt up payments for water so that we are able to remit the wèekly minimum and return to the unrestricted supplies.”

Ndou said Beitbridge was owed an estimated ZWL$2,5 billion by residents.

Businessman Elias Chibi said there was need to consider Beitbridge as a key town that has to be spared water challenges.

“But what is most important is for government departments to pay their bills. Residents should not be made to suffer because of government departments which have those budgets. These ministries are responsible for the people’s rejection of the ruling party in urban areas,” he said.

“When government departments fail to pay, the municipality fails to deliver. This should be looked at as sabotage on the part of the ministries.” NewsDay

ED gvt “pampers” Chiefs

By A Correspondent- The government has awarded traditional leaders a 100% bonus this year as a “performance reward” after they played a key role in mobilising their subjects to vote for Zanu PF during the August elections.

Chiefs, headmen, village heads and their messengers will be awarded the bonuses both in United States dollars and in local currency.

In a circular dated November 7, 2023, addressed to Public Service Commission secretary Tsitsi Choruma, Finance secretary George Guvamatanga said the traditional leaders’ bonuses would be paid alongside those of civil servants.

“As you are aware, government has traditionally awarded performance rewards to the public service employees in the form of a 13th cheque (bonus) at the end of each year,” Guvamatanga said.

“In line with the stabilised tradition and recognition of the efforts of public service workers, government has approved bonus awards for public service employees and traditional leaders.”

Within the traditional leaders’ ranks, chiefs will be awarded the highest amount of bonus, earning US$300 and $337 000, which is equivalent to the earnings of teachers. Village heads and messengers have the least earning of US$100.

Chiefs, however, earn over US$200 and receive other perks such as top-of-the range cars, fuel, boreholes, farms and mines, among other incentives from government.

Zanu PF victories in rural areas have been largely attributed to the role played by traditional leaders in intimidating their subjects to vote for the ruling party.

Zanu PF vice-president and second secretary Kembo Mohadi was, from last year, crisscrossing the country addressing traditions leaders and ordering them to support Zanu PF ahead of the August elections.

Chiefs, who occupy the highest position in the traditional leadership hierarchy, have for long been indirectly regarded as organs within the ruling party, although the constitution prohibits them from participating in politics.

The Zanu PF-led government has in the past pampered chiefs with vehicles, land and houses among other benefits, to garner electoral support. In return, some chiefs have pledged their allegiance to the ruling party in fear of losing the freebies.

Section 281(2)(a) of the constitution states that traditional leaders must not be members of any political party or in any way participate in partisan politics while section 281(2)(c) states that traditional leaders must not further the interests of any political party or cause.

Zimbabwe Democracy Institute director Pedzisai Ruhanya said: “This is historic. It is the emergence of a patron-clients state where the states create clients that it dishes with patronage in return for political support. It is like those chiefs who collaborated with the Smith regime, who were given perks during the colonial era, but Zanu PF has gone a step further.

“Further, because bonuses are for civil servants who are employed by the government.

“Who employs the chief? It is the community members.

“It only exposes chiefs as collaborators of the system.

“It is a neo-patrimonial regime; just buying everyone. Zanu PF under Mnangagwa has bought everyone — chiefs, opposition leaders, churches — everyone.”

Over 1,5m people food insecure

By A Correspondent- Over 1,5 million people are estimated to be food insecure, according to a latest Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVAC) 2023 report.

“They will need 18 915 metric tonnes of cereal per month. Harare had the highest population of 705 480, which was projected to be cereal insecure,” the report read.

According to the report, Midlands had the highest proportion of households projected to be food insecure.

“Matabeleland South (22%) and Mashonaland Central (25%) had the least proportion of households projected to be food insecure,” the report said.

“Mashonaland East had a significant decrease in food insecurity from 53% in 2020 to 27% in 2023.

“Greater Harare 1 (5%), Kadoma (9%) and Gwanda (10%), had the least proportion of households projected to be food insecure. Redcliffe (71%) had the highest proportion of households projected to be food insecure.”

On children, ZimVac noted a poor quality of diets for children, saying this is resulting in stunted growth.

“Nutrition sensitive multisectoral approaches that target women of child bearing age are recommended to raise awareness on the importance of diversified diets.”

ZimVac based its analysis on security on “availability of food, access to food, the safe and health utilisation of food, the stability of food availability, access and utilization”.

“Household food security status was determined using four parameters: food poverty line, household monthly income, household food consumption score and household hunger scale.”

ZimVac, which was established in 2002, is a consortium of government, development partners, United Nations, non-governmental organisations, technical agencies and the academia.

The latest survey focused on urban households residing in the medium-density, high-density, and peri-urban areas of Zimbabwe and it covered urban council areas, administrative centres, growth points and other urban areas.

FAZ hijacks Pfumvudza

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF’s shadowy affiliate, Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) is allegedly denying Pfumvudza agricultural inputs to suspected Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) supporters.

A stand-off erupted when a suspected FAZ member, Enika Gomo, removed names of opposition sympathisers from the beneficiaries’ list in ward 25, Hurungwe West constituency, on Saturday.

The incident happened at Zvipani shopping centre.

One of the victims Morris Mubaiwa said that he was denied the agricultural inputs because of his links to the opposition.

“Mai Gomo — a well-known FAZ operative — tampered with the database and said anyone who was not attending Zanu PF meetings was not supposed to getthe agricultural inputs. Several households were denied the inputs. I confronted her and she quickly mobilised Zanu PF youths to harass me,” he said.

Zanu PF ward 25 councillor Edmore Nyamukumba confirmed the incident.

“I confirm that the incident happened and Mai Gomo is a member of FAZ. We have people who are in our database who have complied with the prerequisite of being a beneficiary of Pfumvudza. To be a beneficiary, one needs to have dug holes which are inspected but in this case, the people had not qualified,” he said.

FAZ president Kudakwashe Musanka said his organisation was just monitoring the distribution of the presidential inputs.

“As an organisation, we don’t choose the beneficiaries. We are there to avoid pilferage and make sure that the presidential inputs are reaching the intended beneficiaries. We also make sure that they are not being abused,” he said.

Government says it has mobilised over 360 000 tonnes of agricultural inputs, including seed and fertiliser, to support smallholder farmers under the Climate-Proofed Presidential Input Scheme (Pfumvudza/Intwasa).

According to weather experts, this year’s summer cropping season will likely be affected by the El Niño weather phenomenon, which typically leads to delayed and below-normal rainfall.

Government is targeting cereal production of 3 512 658 tonnes — 2,8 million tonnes of maize and 712 658 tonnes of traditional grains and oil seeds — which are enough to meet local demand.

The country needs about 2,2 million tonnes of grain annually.

However, distribution of inputs to the targeted 3,5 million beneficiaries — which commenced on April 18 in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central province — has been marred by accusations of looting and nepotism. NewsDay

Tribute To Rahman Gumbo

TRIBUTES continue to pour in for Rahman “Dr Rush” Gumbo, the legendary footballer and coach who died this Friday at a Francistown hospital in Botswana.

With a career spanning two decades, and a show of great sportsmanship as a player and coach, Rahman Gumbo, who was called to be with the Lord on Friday, has been remembered as a man who played an integral role in Zimbabwean football, having played for, and coached the national team, other local teams and football teams beyond Zimbabwean borders.

Family spokesperson, Mr Zebulon Mhlanga described Rahman as a charming person who loved and was loved by the people.

“Soccer legends came to pay their tributes following the death of Rahman and this goes to show that he was indeed an influential person not only in football but the society as well. He was quite a character, he was charming and a people’s person. His loss is greatly felt,” he said.

Having played with Rahman in their prime years, former Highlanders player Lawrence Phiri said the football fraternity has lost greatly as Gumbo was an exceptional team player.

Phiri said, “From the very first time I saw Rahman; I knew he was destined to be a great man which is why I facilitated his entry into Highlanders. He was a very good team player, and he represented Zimbabwe very well even in the international scene. He will be greatly missed.”

Friend and former manager for the late football star Omega Sibanda was at a loss for words, reiterating that Rahman was a good friend on and off the field.

“Rush was my very good friend and I was his manager when he was still a player. We were even business partners, I do not know what will be of me without my good friend,” said Sibanda.

Messages from different football clubs and the football fraternity have been pouring in for the legend “Rush” as he was affectionately known, a clear indication that he indeed etched his name in the annals of Zimbabwean football history.

Change Eating Habits, Zimbabweans Warned

ZIMBABWEANS have been urged to review their eating habits following research which claims that fast foods are one of the major causes of non-communicable diseases.

As the world grapples with the burden of non-communicable diseases that are claiming lives, calls are being amplified for people to change their eating habits to reduce infections associated with diabetes and hypertension among other diseases.

“I have survived with diabetes and BP for 27 years now. This is so because I eat mostly traditional foods and wild fruits,” said a diabetes patient.

“I was diagnosed with diabetes 11 years ago and the best drink for me is water. Taking alcohol is risking one’s health. People should follow recommended diets and take their medicines religiously,” said another diabetes patient.

With 10 in every 100 people being estimated to have diabetes in the country, the Zimbabwe Diabetes Association believes more awareness campaigns are needed, a position shared by Mutasa North legislator, Honourable Obey Bvute.

A counsellor, Evangelist Matsenga said, “Diabetic and BP patients should not panic but should start to live healthy lifestyles. Most people are not aware of their conditions hence the need for more campaigns.”

Zimbabwe Diabetic Association national vice chairperson, Bishop Jeremiah Matenhese said, “We are eating junk food that is causing health complications such as diabetes, BP, and cancers. The remedy is to go back to our Zimbabwean foods.”

Honourable Bvute said, “The message is for people to go back to traditional or natural foods. Non-communicable diseases are preventable if people shun sugar. People are being encouraged to exercise as well. The rest of Africa is struggling with GMOs, and we should all shun them.”

Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza called for increased awareness on safe health practices.

“Diabetes is a silent killer disease, and we all need to be checked regularly to know our standing. The way these non-communicable diseases are claiming lives is alarming and every citizen must be on high alert to live a healthy life. Diabetes brings blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes amputations among other complications. We all have a responsibility to manage our diets and shun fast foods. There is a need for the agriculture sector to focus more on traditional grains among other crops with health benefits,” said Advocate Mugadza.

Meanwhile, the government hinted on plans to ensure that people living with diabetes can access free medication to reduce deaths that are caused by the condition.-ZBC News

Instead of Aircraft, Air Zim Brings In New Boss

-Air Zimbabwe’s Quandary Beyond Director Appointments | Despite the recent appointment of Mr. Edmund Makona as the new CEO of Air Zimbabwe, the airline’s persistent challenges extend beyond leadership changes. The need for a revamp isn’t merely about bringing in new faces but about reevaluating the company’s structure.

The airline’s historical inefficiencies point to an oversized workforce, calling for a reduction in employee numbers rather than an influx of new appointments. At a time when the company direly requires updated aircraft, the allocation of funds towards hiring new leadership raises concerns about the allocation of resources.

While Mr. Makona boasts an impressive aviation background and experience, the fundamental issue lies in the airline’s operational capacity and the need for a fleet upgrade. The emphasis should shift from augmenting personnel to modernizing the aircraft, addressing the core of Air Zimbabwe’s struggles.

The Board’s confidence in Mr. Makona’s expertise is commendable, but the challenge at hand requires a strategic focus on fleet modernization and operational efficiency, rather than primarily concentrating on personnel adjustments. The true transformation of the national carrier necessitates a comprehensive restructuring strategy, one that prioritizes fleet enhancement and operational streamlining.

Tried Makes $2800 Selling Someone Else’s Car

### Breaking News: Arrest Made in Stolen Car Case

A Bulawayo man has been apprehended after the theft of a silver Toyota Raum, reg. ADN 2188, from the city center. The car’s owner parked it between 1st and 2nd Avenue, locking it securely before heading to work. Upon returning, the vehicle was nowhere to be found, prompting a police report.

Detectives from the CID Vehicle Theft Squad received information about the missing car on November 9. They found the vehicle parked along George Silundika Street and traced it back to Mike Tapfumaneyi Munyengeterwa (38) from Northend Bulawayo, who had allegedly purchased the stolen car from Mzingaye Ncube (25).

Ncube, the accused, admitted to using a duplicate key kept from the time he sold the car to the complainant. The total value of the theft amounted to US$2,800, all of which was recovered upon arrest.

Inspector Abednego Ncube emphasized the importance of verifying vehicle purchases through the police, cautioning against impulsive buys to avoid situations where the vehicle’s history might not be clean.- state media

Kereke Gets Bail

Former Legislator and HMMAS CEO Granted Bail

Former Bikita West legislator Munyaradzi Kereke and suspended HMMAS CEO Everesto Rukasha, accused of defrauding the medical aid society of US$400,000, were granted US$200 bail each. Magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa cited their non-flight risk status and their presumption of innocence until proven guilty. They are remanded until December 13.

The State alleges Kereke misrepresented being owed US$400,000 by the society after selling his hospital to HMMAS in 2014. Kereke denies this, claiming the total amount due was US$1,138,000, with US$937,000 already paid. The prosecution contends the price was $400,000 and aiming to claim an additional $400,000 was deemed criminal.- state media

Munetsi Bounces Back

Marshall Munetsi wore a face mask on his return from a short injury spell on Saturday.

The Zimbabwean midfielder spent two weeks on the sidelines after suffering a broken nose.

Following his recovery, Munetsi started for his French side Stade de Reims in their 3-0 loss against PSG.

The Warriors international, however, was employed as a false 9 in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

When Reims reverts to defence, Munetsi, who usually plays in the central midfield or in defensive role, would be left alone upfront to start the high press.-Soccer24 News

What Is Overspending In Mining?

In business you invest with the aim of making profit long term and sustainable. Inorder to do that just make a small informal business by listing what you need with exact value don’t forget to include monitoring expenses identify a claim close to you or never invest . If you are still tempted to invest far increase scope of investment so that all you will be able to all final production activities month end .
2 nothing can replace your presence
Gold is a currency that can be used without any purification or processing and around Zimbabwe you find gold nuggets of 5points upto 10kg your absence means you won’t be able to see it or account for production done using your own money. Be there from day one study everything learn all risks and rewards.

Your kids , wife and relatives are not you they can steal from you infact most gold related theft or lack of accountability is orchestrated by related especially the son or daughter in most cases l have come across.

Besides stealing they usually unknowingly disturb or sabotage production in the name of relative. All gold production ends are guarded by mine owner , sponsors or investors and workers nothing is left to chance.

3 avoid overspending on monitoring
Avoid driving up and down to the mine in the name of monitoring because it’s useless and unnecessary unless you spend at least 6hrs of day time at the mine use public transport and avoid hiring transport for transactions that don’t need a car .

If you want to use a car increase your investment scope to accommodate the car .when ever gold pays you handsomely remember they are dark days ahead plan wisely and create proper backup.

Sacred Month Of November – Zimbabwe

Happy New lunar month maShona. May the forces be with you!

It is said that our Shona Ancestors return on the first day of the new moon, today, marking the end of Mwedzi waMbubdzi.

In Pre-colonial times (pre-1884), all maShona tribes celebrated this day with kubika doro, appeasing their ancestors and connecting with their ancestors in many special ways. They would eat together, thank God (Musikavanhu), traditional dancing, drumming and singing the night away.

MaShona people knew that their ancestors “Nzeve” (ear) was now paying attention to their requests and wishes. MaShona Ancestors will then gather all these wishes and requests, and the next Mwedzi waMbudzi, go away to the heavens, taking all our requests and wishes to bargain on your behalf to Musikavanhu. This is why November (lunar month) is sacred. Our ancestors are not there to participate in any celebrations we have, they are busy conferencing with God.

On their return today, bikai doro, invite family and friends to eat together, proudly reciting your totem poems, thank God and hope all your prayers, requests and wishes are award in the coming New Lunar Year.

Auxillia Cancels UK Trip After ZimEye Investigation Exposing London Hotel Booking With Married Man

By A Correspondent | The First Lady of Zimbabwe, Auxillia Mnangagwa, has canceled her upcoming trip to the UK following the publication of an investigation by the ZimEye news network. The investigation revealed that Mnangagwa had booked to stay at an expensive hotel in London and was planning to bring a large entourage with her, at a cost of close to 3 million dollars.

The investigation also raised questions about the First Lady’s professional relationship with Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the UK, Christian Katsande. The two were booked to stay in the same hotel premises- the Taj London, and the ambassador has been accused of spending lavishly on Mnangagwa’s previous visit to the UK.

The First Lady’s office has not given a reason for the cancellation of her trip, but it is widely believed to be in response to the ZimEye investigation. The investigation has sparked outrage in Zimbabwe, where many people are struggling to make ends meet.

Auxillia’s London sadza cooking competition programs have been taken over by the Tourism Minister Barbara Rwodzi.

The development follows another expose in 2022 when during the making of the GoldMafia documentary, Mrs Mnangagwa, pleaded multiple times on a videocall with ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza begging that the journalist should not curse her, and repeated this screaming at the rate of 2 times per minute in the over 35 minutes of the call which she did by mistake, an explosive news engagement which was only disrupted by the anti-Chamisa activist, Hopewell Chin’ono who threatened Chikanza with a false claim that UK police were coming to Auxillia’s assistance.

The ZimEye investigation also revealed that Mnangagwa had been involved in the conviction of Henrietta Rushwaya, the president of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation. Rushwaya was recently jailed for gold smuggling, and sources have told ZimEye that while there was a case for smuggling, the conviction coming at a time when other smugglers walk scotfree, was motivated by Auxillia at a personal level.

The First Lady is also accused of being involved in the downfall of former Energy Minister Fortune Chasi and businessman Tinashe Mutarisi. Mutarisi’s factory building was recently burnt down, and it is claimed that this was because he did not donate enough money to Mnangagwa’s Angel Of Hope Foundation.

The ZimEye investigation has shed light on the lavish lifestyle of the First Lady and her alleged involvement in corruption.

The London ambassador Katsande did not respond to requests for comment. – ZimEye

David Cameron Bounces Back Into Govt as UK Foreign Secretary

By A Correspondent | Former Prime Minister David Cameron has been appointed UK Foreign Secretary by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The move comes after the sacking of Suella Braverman from the role and a reshuffling of the cabinet.

Cameron, who has been out of front-line politics for the last seven years, said in a statement that he was “honored to serve” as Foreign Secretary and that he looked forward to working with the team at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

“We are facing a daunting set of international challenges, including the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East,” he said. “At this time of profound global change, it has rarely been more important for this country to stand by our allies, strengthen our partnerships and make sure our voice is heard.”

Cameron also praised the work of the FCDO and its staff, saying that they were “some of the finest assets of their kind anywhere in the world.”

“I know from my time in office that they are staffed by brilliant, patriotic and hard-working people,” he said. “They have been well led by James Cleverly, with whom I look forward to working in his vital new role.”

Cameron’s appointment is likely to be met with mixed reactions. Some will see it as a sign of Sunak’s strength and determination, while others will criticize it as a cynical move to shore up support among Conservative MPs.

However, there is no doubt that Cameron is a highly experienced and respected politician. He served as Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016 and oversaw the UK’s recovery from the financial crisis. He also played a key role in securing the passage of same-sex marriage legislation.

It remains to be seen how Cameron will perform in his new role. However, his appointment is a clear sign that Sunak is determined to get the best people in place to deliver his agenda.

**Analysis**

Cameron’s appointment is a bold move by Sunak. It is a sign that he is not afraid to take risks and that he is willing to bring in experienced politicians from outside his own circle.

Cameron’s experience as Prime Minister and his strong relationships with world leaders will be invaluable to Sunak as he seeks to navigate the UK through the current international challenges.

However, Cameron’s appointment is also a gamble. He is a divisive figure and his return to front-line politics could alienate some voters.

It remains to be seen how Cameron will perform in his new role. However, his appointment is a sign that Sunak is determined to build a strong and experienced team around him.

Family abandons own relative battling cancer

In a shocking display of heartlessness, a 37-year-old man battling lower bottom cancer has been abandoned by his own family at a local hospital for a staggering 13 months.

Admire Matetakufa, hailing from Mazowe, has been stranded in the hospital since August last year.

He revealed the devastating truth that his relatives have effectively left him to face his battle alone, with no support or care.

Initially brought to the hospital under the pretext of receiving medical attention, Admire soon realized that his family’s intentions were far from benevolent. It became painfully clear that they sought to rid themselves of him during his time of dire need.

Admire, who is undergoing treatment for cancer caused by sexually transmitted diseases, also shared the heartbreak of his wife abandoning him for another man. This abandonment left him responsible for their three children, all of whom are now under the care of social welfare.

Desperate for assistance, Admire is reaching out to the kindness of strangers. His plea is simple yet urgent: he needs food, shelter for himself and his children, and various other forms of support. Despite the emotional toll of being deserted by those closest to him, Admire remains hopeful, buoyed by the doctors’ assurance that they are doing everything possible to save him.

He says that his father’s relatives have disowned him during his illness, with some even cruelly stating that he emitted a bad odour due to cancer. Admire painfully recounted the hurtful words spoken by his own kin,

“Doctors have promised to do their best to save me. My relatives abandoned me after I fell ill, saying that I should go to my late mother’s relatives. My late father’s relatives deserted me saying that I was not their relative and I have a bad odour due to the cancer.”

With the expectation of eventually being discharged from the hospital, Admire is in dire need of a new place to call home, where he can rebuild his life alongside his children. iHarare

Rationale

SADC believes that the proposed retirement package is fair and reasonable. President Mnangagwa has served Zimbabwe with distinction, and he deserves to be able to enjoy his retirement in peace and security. The immunity from prosecution is necessary to protect him from politically motivated charges. The full salary and bodyguards are necessary to ensure that he can live comfortably and safely. The Parliamentary Act of Law is necessary to protect him from the media and social media scrutiny that can be so damaging to public figures.

Conclusion

SADC urges the government of Zimbabwe to accept this retirement package proposal. It is a fitting tribute to President Mnangagwa’s service to his country and the region.

Additional Notes– Disclaimer

  • The SADC retirement package proposal is fictitious, satirical, and does not reflect the actual retirement package of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

ZIFA Coach Harassment Trial

The trial commenced on Friday as Shadreck Mlauzi, the Mighty Warriors head coach, denied two counts of indecent assault. Pleading not guilty, Mlauzi firmly asserted his innocence, stating he’d never violated anyone’s rights, emphasizing his extensive tenure in women’s football without incident. He defended a virtual relationship with the complainant, expressing disappointment over the charges.

His defense included details of the complainant’s accessibility to his room as part of the technical team, dismissing any misconduct beyond admiration for her beauty. During cross-examination, the complainant emotionally recounted feeling degraded and disclosed the football federation’s attempts to conceal the case.

The alleged incidents took place in Zimbabwe and South Africa, with specific details outlined. The first count, occurring at a lodge in Harare, involved an alleged attempt to kiss the complainant without consent. The second count, in South Africa, implicated an alleged instruction for a massage and improper advances after a monetary exchange.

The complainant’s distress (allegations) following match-related harassment prompted her to report the incidents to the Cosafa safeguarding officer, leading to counseling and the formal charges of indecent assault against Mlauzi. The trial continues with the examination of witnesses and evidence.

Mnangagwa In His Own Words Saying He Can’t Be A President

-Emmerson Mnangagwa States Refusal to be Acknowledged as President of Zimbabwe-

By Farai D Hove | In an unexpected turn of events, Emmerson Mnangagwa, the leader of ZANU PF, made a startling announcement, declaring his disassociation from the title of President of Zimbabwe.

On the grand staircase of the recent SADC Extraordinary Summit in Luanda’s venue, a visibly tense Mnangagwa conversed rapidly with journalist Reuben Barwe, unveiling his declaration. Mnangagwa, while conversing with Barwe, emphatically expressed his flaws or sins make him too low to be equated among nation Presidents.

He further elaborated on his stance, asserting, he can never be a President like other real heads of states at the summit referred to as Priests.

This unprecedented declaration added intensity to the summit’s ongoing discussions, particularly surrounding the Zimbabwean election, an issue SADC had publicly confirmed as part of the extraordinary summit’s agenda.

In a brief exchange, Barwe, seeking clarity, inquired about potential challenges to the summit’s focus. Mnangagwa assured him, “No, these things happen in society. Not everybody is a Priest, so you find these things happen. We are so alert that we had gone to deal with the things that are relevant to the Summit.”

Despite the sensational declaration, Mnangagwa said that the summit primarily centered around issues concerning the Democratic Republic of Congo, as he tried to dispel revelations of disruption caused by Zimbabwe-related matters.

The shocking revelation by Mnangagwa raises profound questions about the political landscape in Zimbabwe and casts uncertainty over the country’s leadership and future. As the summit continues, the repercussions and implications of this unexpected announcement remain a subject of great speculation and intrigue.

ZIFA Mum On Rahman Gumbo Death

Zimbabwe Football Association and National Premier Soccer League have remained silent and no word from the 2 football entities about the death of Rahman Gumbo. As for the chaotic Zifa which is curently run by NC, the so called football people to ignore or fail to issue a statement is shocking and embarrassing. If they don’t recognise the death of a football icon, a man who served and played under Zifa and worked for long as a national coach for the warriors, its clear they lack understanding of the sport. If we have really football people running the game, there should be a minute of silence in all Premier league games in Zimbabwe today.

Rahman Gumbo played for Bulawayo Wanderers later Eagles, Highlanders and became Bosso head coach after retiring playing, Sporting Lions, Caps United, Platinum FC, Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs Tell-One among others and also various teams in Malawi, Botswana and South Africa. He is the first coach and remains the only one to win league championship titles in 3 different countries. He remains the winningest coach in Highlanders history where he won 3 league titles in a row.

His strategic brilliance and a keen eye for talent helped Bosso dominate Zimbabwean football in the late 90s and in the turn of the millennium. Under his guidance, Highlanders enjoyed remarkable success, claiming multiple titles and producing numerous Zimbabwean stars. Rush’s emphasis on discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic has left an enduring legacy that continues to shape the program. He deserves national Hero’s status and may Zimbabwe authorities grant him one. He was a kind, funny, loveable and larger than life character who was friends to everyone he met. Rest In Power Rah
