Some suggest that he may play a role similar to that of Simba Makoni in the 2008 election, effectively dividing votes between the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the opposition leader Nelson Chamisa. This article delves into the dynamics surrounding Kasukuwere’s entry into Zimbabwean politics and examines the potential implications of his candidacy.
The Zezuru Factor and Leadership Mandate
Saviour Kasukuwere, a close associate of the late Robert Mugabe, represents a faction of Zezurus who believe they were unjustly deprived of the leadership mandate following the 2017 coup that brought Mnangagwa to power. The Zezurus, the nation’s largest tribe, perceive Mnangagwa’s administration as favouring the Karanga tribe, thereby marginalizing their interests. With their desire to reclaim what they see as their rightful place, the Zezurus, including the Manicas, have rallied together against what they perceive as an attack on their group.
Tribal Dynamics in Zimbabwean Politics
Tribal affiliations have historically played a significant role in Zimbabwean politics, and the upcoming election is expected to be no exception. The Karangas, like the Ndebeles, are not numerically dominant, whereas the Zezurus hold a considerable numerical advantage. Given that both Mnangagwa and Chamisa hail from the Karanga tribe, the tribal factor becomes even more pronounced. Consequently, the support of the Zezurus could be a game-changer for any political candidate. The Ndaus, associated with Ndabaningi Sithole, are the only tribe to have set themselves apart since the Ndebele era.
Kasukuwere’s Involvement and ZANU PF’s Motivation
Contrary to the notion that Kasukuwere is positioning himself as another Simba Makoni, it is worth noting that he was sought after by ZANU PF to lead the party. A letter was written to ZANU PF members to this effect, indicating that Kasukuwere’s candidacy is not solely his own decision. This demonstrates a significant shift within ZANU PF, with the party recognizing the importance of securing the support of the Zezurus, a tribe that has historically played a significant role in the party’s support base.
Mnangagwa’s Popularity and Political Legacy
Emmerson Mnangagwa has faced widespread criticism and is widely disliked among the people of Zimbabwe. Unlike his predecessor, Robert Mugabe, Mnangagwa lacks the charismatic appeal and popularity that could have softened the impact of his policies. His failure to establish a contemporary political accord akin to previous attempts in Zimbabwe’s history has further exacerbated internal divisions within ZANU PF. Mnangagwa’s approach has left the nation grappling with political, economic, and social challenges.

ACTING President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga has described the late National Hero Cde Ben Mucheche as a man who remained dedicated to the values of the liberation struggle throughout his life.
He was speaking at the Mucheche farm in Beatrice after visiting the family to pay his condolences this Monday.
General Retired Chiwenga said the late Cde Mucheche worked wholeheartedly and unreservedly, assisting towards the cause of the liberation struggle.
“He worked a lot with the founding fathers of the Chimurenga. Some of us knew him during the Second Chimurenga. I came here representing President Mnangagwa who is outside the country but will back today. He is among those who went to war. From 1972 when the war was in full swing it did not stop. This is when we saw the likes of Cde Mucheche uniting with others to help the liberators. He assisted until 1980 when we attained independence,” he said.
The Acting President also spoke about how the country has gone through various stages, including the land reform, also referred to as the Third Chimurenga.
He said Cde Mucheche died at a time when Zimbabwe is fighting to grow its economy using its natural resources.
As the Nomination Court for the 23rd of August General Elections sits on Wednesday, Dr Chiwenga urged the electorate to vote for the ruling party to ensure completion of various projects being implemented across the country.
“Now we are facing the Chimurenga to build the nation. No one knew we had minerals like lithium. Now we are going to the nomination court as we prepare for elections. The Second Republic is saying this is what we are doing. We have opened mines, build roads, vote for us so we complete these projects,” he added.
Family representative Mr Ben Mucheche Junior said their father taught them a culture of hard work.
“We want to express our gratitude to the government for honoring our father. He believed in hard work and integrity,” he noted.
The late national hero was among the first indigenous businessmen operating in the transport sector and played a major role in the transportation of nationalists during the liberation struggle.- ZBC News
CRICKET power house Sri Lanka made a huge statement of intent after getting their 2023 ICC World Cup Qualifier underway with convincing 175 run victory over United Arab Emirates in their opening match at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo this Monday.

Chamisa ran for the highest office in the land in 2018 on an MDC Alliance ticket but lost the race to ZANU PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa who received 50.8% of the vote against his 44.3%.
The results gave Mnangagwa the majority needed to avoid a runoff but Chamisa rejected the results and sought to have them nullified by the Constitutional Court.
The Constitutional Court bench unanimously upheld the results and ruled that Chamisa had failed to provide evidence that the election was rigged as he had alleged.
Posting on Twitter this Tuesday, Chamisa said he was ready for the challenges ahead after successfully filing his nomination papers. Said Chamisa:

By-Convicted famous comedian Mai TT, has turned to God in prison.
Mai TT told the state media Monday that God put her in prison for a reason that she has come to terms with the fact that jail will be her home for the next several months.
She made the revelations on Monday on the sidelines of a party hosted for the children of inmates at Chikurubi Female Prison. She said:
I am yet to accept that I have to stay behind these walls and get used to such an uncomfortable environment.
What came into my mind on my second day in my cell was my idea of visiting this same prison years ago.
I pleaded with prison officials to allow me to spend one night with inmates, but they denied me that chance, arguing that their protocol does not consider such requests.
I was touched by the living conditions of inmates, especially innocent babies, accompanying their mothers in prison.
I wanted to know more and little did I know that one day I would be counted among inmates kwete zvekunyepera kana kukumbira.
I want to believe that God is the one who gave me the idea to visit the prison and donate sanitary wear and food that year.

A new chapter of my life has started and I need more grace to endure until I complete my sentence.

Mai TT was last week sentenced to an effective nine (9) months imprisonment following her conviction for theft of trust property.
She was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, 6 months were suspended on condition that she doesn’t commit a similar offense in the next 5 years. It means she will serve an effective 6 months for the offence.
During the trial at the Harare Magistrates Court, it emerged that Mai TT defaulted on a court order, to perform community service once, following a conviction for assault eight years ago.
For defaulting on 105 hours of community service, Mai TT was ordered to serve 3 months in prison.
In total, Mai TT will serve 9 months in prison.

By-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s soldier son, Sean Mnangagwa, has been appointed the Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association (ZIKA) patron.
His appointment comes following a visit by Malawian kickboxers to this country a few days ago.
The visit was aimed at taking ties between the two countries to another level.
The initiative, which is the brainchild of ZIKA, in conjunction with Heritage Delta, was meant to unpack potential long term cooperation channels in culture between the two countries.
Sean, is a captain in the Zimbabwe National Army.
He studied at the University of International Business School and Economics in South Africa majoring in security and business management, Homeland Security, law enforcement, fire-fighting and related protective services between 2008 and 2011.
In an interview he said:
“I complement the efforts being made by the Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association in mobilising the youths and inviting foreign countries to take part in such grand initiatives.
“I feel it’s incredibly significant to be a kick boxer. As Bruce Lee once said, ‘It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than to be a gardener in a war.’
“The drill here is to remain physically and spiritually fit.
“This initiative also works as an anti-alcohol and drug campaign, targeting communities in which unemployed young people resort to drinking and using narcotics to alleviate the stress of not having work.
“Fight fit, stay fit and stay healthy.
“Kudos, therefore, to Heritage Delta for advocating and championing initiatives which seek to amplify Zimbabwe’s heritage in its diversity.”
ZIKA president Tony Kamangira said:
“Zimbabwe and Malawi National Teams were competing for the first time in an international competition last weekend, as a way of belatedly commemorating Africa Day.
“The name of the game is hit and not get hit,” said Kamangira.
The championship featured seven Malawian fighters who competed against their Zimbabwean counterparts.
Four Zimbabweans and three Malawian fighters won gold medals.
Mike Mando Miwaluwimba from Malawi was the best male fighter while Kudakwashe Chikwature was the best female fighter of the championships.
“With the unwavering support we are getting from highly patriotic and private organisations like Heritage Delta, among others, our national kickboxing team is set to fly Zimbabwe’s flag high on quite a number of international platforms.

Pitso Mosimane has revealed that there was no contact with Kaizer Chiefs before he took up a job at United Arab Emirates side Al Wahda FC.
There were widespread rumours linking Mosimane with a move to Chiefs ahead of next season after the coach left his job at Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
The reports suggested that the South African gaffer applied for the and the two parties were still negotiating the terms.

Bournemouth have fired head coach Gary O’Neil after just seven months in charge. as the substantive head.
O’Neil took over as caretaker manager in August and was given an 18-month deal in November; he guided Bournemouth to a 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season.

In a statement released this afternoon, the club confirmed O’Neil’s departure, saying:
“We can today confirm we have parted company with head coach Gary O’Neil.
“Gary leaves the club after overseeing 37 matches last season, initially on an interim basis before being formally appointed to his first head coaching role in November.
“A return of 10 wins and six draws in the Premier League was enough to maintain the club’s position in the top flight, effectively securing survival with four matches remaining following a memorable run of results in April.”
O’Neil coached Warriors Jordan Zemura before the player was blocked by the club towards the end of the season.

Overview
The abuse of older people, also known as elder abuse, is a single or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. This type of violence constitutes a violation of human rights and includes physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse; financial and material abuse; abandonment; neglect; and serious loss of dignity and respect.
Scope of the problem
Abuse of older people is an important public health problem. A 2017 review of 52 studies in 28 countries from diverse regions estimated that over the past year 1 in 6 people (15.7%) aged 60 years and older were subjected to some form of abuse (1). Although rigorous data are limited, the review provides prevalence estimates of the proportion of older people affected by different types of abuse.
Data on the extent of the problem in institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities are scarce. However, a review of recent studies on abuse of older people in institutional settings (2) indicates that 64.2% of staff reported perpetrating some form of abuse in the past year.
Emerging evidence indicates that the prevalence of abuse of older people in both the community and in institutions have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. A US study, for instance, suggests that rates in the community may have increased by as much as 84% (3).

Globally, the number of cases of elder abuse is projected to increase as many countries have rapidly ageing populations. Even if the proportion of victims of abuse of older people remains constant, the global number of victims will increase rapidly due to population ageing, growing to some 320 million victims by 2050, as the global population of people aged 60 years and more increases to 2 billion by 2050.
Consequences
Abuse of older people can have serious physical and mental health, financial, and social consequences, including, for instance, physical injuries, premature mortality, depression, cognitive decline, financial devastation and placement in nursing homes. For older people, the consequences of abuse can be especially serious and recovery may take longer (4).
Risk factors
Individual level characteristics which increase the risk of becoming a victim of abuse include functional dependence/disability, poor physical health, cognitive impairment, poor mental health and low income. Individual level characteristics which increase the risk of becoming a perpetrator of abuse include mental illness, substance abuse and dependency – often financial – of the abuser on the victim. At the relationship level, the type of relationship (e.g., spouse/partner or child/parent) and marital status may be associated with an elevated risk of abuse, but these factors vary by country and region. Community- and societal-level factors linked to elder abuse may include ageism against older people and certain cultural norms (e.g., normalization of violence). Social support and living alone reduce the likelihood of elder abuse (5).
Prevention
Many strategies have been tried to prevent and respond to abuse of older people, but evidence for the effectiveness of most of these interventions is limited at present. Strategies considered most promising include caregiver interventions, which provide services to relieve the burden of caregiving; money management programmes for older adults vulnerable to financial exploitation; helplines and emergency shelters; and multi-disciplinary teams, as the responses required often cut across many systems, including criminal justice, health care, mental health care, adults protective services and long-term care (5).
In some countries, the health sector has taken a leading role in raising public concern about abuse of older people, while in others the social welfare sector has taken the lead. Globally, too little is known about elder abuse and how to prevent it, particularly in developing countries.

Gutu – Hundreds of villagers have succuumbed to brutal harassment, beatings, lost cash and property in the last week with Mnangagwa government aloof, it has been revealed.
The thieves have pounced on hapless villagers in area under Chief Makore in Gutu South Constituency and yesterday reportedly had inroads in Chief Mutema area.
People who have been prey to these robbers could hardly explain their losses.
What has puzzled many is that no arrests have been recorded even when reports have been made timeously.
‘Police are not there when we live in terrible times.
‘Not even the sitting MP Togarepi has ever said anything.
‘These people are obscessed with power when we are in abject poverty and robbed’ they fumed.
People have reportedly deserted their homes to squarter for safety.
Commentators have castigated the second republic for standing aloof when people are suffering.
This is a blow to Mnangagwa and his government especially in the run up to watershed elections.
CCC is poised to win this year’s elections viz a vis the silence of police and tired Zanu PF leaders.
By Dr Masimba Mavaza -Once again, Zimbabweans are preparing to give a fresh mandate to a deserving party and an excellent man. As elections get closer faster, many parties will be sprouting from all corners to congest the ballot paper. If every party from the MDC is to contest, the ballot paper will be written back to back. MDC has exhausted the alphabet with its synonyms from MDC A to MDC Z, and now it’s called CCC. The CCC is selling Zimbabweans of all ages a dummy. The opposition has blamed the economic downturn on ZANU PF.
CCC has shown that Political Perfectionism, this is Specifically, an obsessive-compulsive personality disorder which, is characterized by an illusion of orderliness, perfectionism and excessive devotion to work to the point that they believe in their own lies. The individual is often detail-oriented, and when things do not work out in their favour, they can quickly become angry disruptive and violent. This can manifest as criticism of self and others and in attempts to control situations, and people become dreamers and live in their dreamland.
Their campaign has been that ZANU PF has fronted corrupt cadres and is eating into the future of the youth. The youth are being told that they are not employed because ZANU PF has mishandled the economy. Yet there is no alternative they can offer.
The opposition, in particular, Nelson Chamisa, has told rally after rally that if he is given Zimbabwe, he will develop the country in three months with the help of the “white men” He told those who were listening that he will have a number of white people rushing to develop Zimbabwe’s economy. This Chamisa said it will only be possible if he is elected president of Zimbabwe.
The youth and Zimbabweans at large must step down to reality. The economy can not be improved in three days, and joy comes in the morning.
Firstly a party has to be consistent. Being perceived as consistent is a crucial concern for political actors’ in their efforts to mobilize public opinion. Zimbabweans must have an analysis of the self-reflexive performance of consistency by Zimbabwean politicians and their parties, focusing on the definitions and types of ‘consistency’ in political talk and their consequences.
A party must illustrate that consistency constitutes spatiotemporal coordination among cognitions, actions (words and deeds), and the external world while also being viewed as potentially transforming political reality. Perceived as a sought-after value indicative of truth-telling, determination, and clarity, political actors view consistency as an essential character trait associated with ideological fortitude and a basis for practical policy realization.
Many have been concerned about the ability of citizens to ground their specific political preferences in more general principles.
CCC is offering a deal which they say can not be made public. This means there is no manifesto, there is no visible plan, and the alternative is nonexistent. They are selling invisible democracy. To think that CCC is clogged at the top with lawyers is laughable.
Looking at all political parties on the round ZANU PF has a longstanding intuition that can help citizens improve the quality of their political opinion. This is understood as the consistency between citizens’ specific opinions and their deeper political values. Citizens have to see what is being offered and compare it with what is being promised.
What MDC, which is now CCC was consistent in is breaking up and splitting up and giving unrealistic and invisible promises.
The rebranding of the MDC Alliance chapter as a political party, Citizens Coalition for Change, renders itself to the slogan (Chamisa Chete Chete), showing that Chamisa is selfish and power-hungry. The personalization of a political party is consistent with an undemocratic Selfish Satanic outfit. Since CHAMISA ascended to power, he never denounced sanctions earning himself the name “Baba ma Sanctions,”. The sanctions, which are used to kill national prospects, have perpetuated the suffering of multitudes of our people, and this behaviour of supporting sanctions is treasonous. In the coming elections, Zimbabweans are promised more sanctions by a party whose campaign remains fuelled by the request for more sanctions.
CHAMISA would use anything that promised to give him power to the extent that Tsvangirai, the movement’s founding father, was undermined by Chamisa, who grabbed power in utter disrespect of the remains of the icon of the opposition movement. He instituted violence to stay in power without legitimacy. He could not retain the name MDC because it meant losing power hence he had to give the new party his own name and totem. If he could become President of Zimbabwe, we run the risk of having the country renamed Moyo State of Chamisa. The nation should be careful what they wish for. Chamisa is a dictator through and through. He has no morals, his well executed sidelining Welshmen Ncube (MDC-N), Tendai Biti (PDP) Job Sikhala (MDC 99 Mangoma Khupe and many staunch CCC stalwarts.
The very people who gave Tsvangirai a heart attack are the same people who have been gathered together by CHAMISA to try and rebrand his new political outfit. This is actually urinating on Tsvangirai’s grave.
All the politicians he surrounded himself with clearly rebelled against the late Morgan Tsvangirai in a bid to upstage the party and destroy it. Meanwhile Nelson Chamisa appeared loyal and implied disgust at the betrayal, but no, that was not the case. If anything this man is a snake in the grass. If he could have it his way he will befriend anyone for the sake of power, and dump you as soon as the scales tilts to his side.
So come 23rd August 2023 the nation must not be fooled, Nelson Chamisa is leading CCC which for all purposes and intends is simply a foreign controlled outfit.
With his unorthodox primary elections he has rendered Biti and many others discredited spend forces desperate to find some political space. The nation cannot be fooled by claims of human rights abuse in order to give way to neo-colonial forces to influence the politics of Zimbabwe.
2023 is coming with all gloves off and knuckles up.
On the other side we must realize that since the new dispensation came into office their, most cherished wish and desire ,for which ED and his team laboured with vigour and passion unceasingly ,with firm determination, is to raise the lives of Zimbabweans and create jobs jobs and jobs for every capable person. This is the force which drives ED and he has set a national goal to achieve middle income by 2030. Every hand has been put on the deck with great importance placed on the goal and the desire that our people should attain this goal. This is not only a wish or desire but indeed a possibility. Zimbabweans are having great satisfaction everyday of seeing this goal coming to fruition. The development presided by ED Mnangagwa are all out for to see. MNANGAGWA is a front man who believe in less talk and more action.
Zimbabweans must realize that development is a process. It has been seen in the work being done by the new dispensation in developing the economy. We must be guided by the Chinese history of economic growth.
Chinese history of growth was not overnight but like China ED is saying we build our own nation. “Nyika inovakwa Nevene vayo.”Sanctions will not stop our resilient fighting spirit. Brick by brick we build Zimbabwe. People must not be fooled by the rhetoric being puked by the CCC whose promise is that the West will come running with money.
This is a party with no plan no constitution but planning to enter into power with an empty begging bowl.
We must be comforted to know that we are already making inroads in food security through dams and empowering farmers. ED has introduced command agriculture and Pfumvunza giving implements and livestock to capable farmers to revamp our ailing economy.
Zimbabwe is now under new management and going through a rigorous economic recovery. Infrastructure has been rehabilitated. Roads buildings dams have all been revamped. Zimbabwe now is halfway to the Middle income goal. Normally, during an economic recovery, gross domestic product (GDP) grows, incomes rise, and unemployment falls as the economy rebounds. Only this year the Civil service has employed over twenty thousand teachers and nurses. The army has recruited and still recruiting. The police and other security organizations have employed thousands of youth.
It must be understood that during an economic recovery, the economy undergoes a process of adaptation and adjustment to new conditions, including the factors that triggered the recession in the first place and the new policies and rules implemented by governments and central banks in response to the recession. So the first years of the new dispensation, things got tough, but it was only when things got tough that the tough got going.
Recovery is an economy healing itself from the damage done, and it sets the stage for a new expansion.
We must not forget Covid19. ED led us out of Covid and we all are seeing the development we are marching through.
All we can say is give ED his second term. Let him finish his good works. A good coach does not change a winning team.
As we make a decision on whom to vote for in 2023 we must remember that ED is no1:
In the end, the recovery can change the patterns of economic activity in an economy, sometimes drastically and sometimes in barely noticeable ways. The economy heals the damage during the preceding parts of the business cycle by reallocating, reusing, and recycling resources into new uses, in an analogous way to how the body breaks down dead and damaged tissue in order to produce new, healthy cells and tissues after an injury.
Importantly, in order for the process of recovery to proceed, it is critical that the business and investment liquidations of the recession are carried out and the resources tied up in them are allowed to flow to new uses and new businesses.
Eventually, this process of recovery leads to a new phase of growth and expansion once resources have been mostly or fully reallocated across the economy.
This is the time the youth see the truth. There will never be a miracle recovery. ZANU PF has set the recovery going.
If you want to be employed soon allow ED to finish what he started. Vote ZANU PF and help Zimbabwe claim its bread basket position.

THE Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association (ZIKA) has appointed Sean Mnangagwa as its patron following a visit by Malawian kickboxers to this country a few days ago.
The visit was aimed at taking ties between the two countries to another level.
The initiative, which is the brainchild of ZIKA, in conjunction with Heritage Delta, was meant to unpack potential long term cooperation channels in culture between the two countries.
Sean, whose background is hinged upon discipline as part of his military profession, is a versatile professional, an army captain.He studied at the University of International Business School and Economics in South Africa majoring in security and business management, Homeland Security, law enforcement, fire-fighting and related protective services between 2008 and 2011.
In an interview he said:“I complement the efforts being made by the Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association in mobilising the youths and inviting foreign countries to take part in such grand initiatives.
“I feel it’s incredibly significant to be a kick boxer. As Bruce Lee once said, ‘It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than to be a gardener in a war.’“The drill here is to remain physically and spiritually fit.

United States economist and currency expert Steve Hanke has said Zimbabwe’s inflation is at 1298% per year, accusing President Emmerson Mnangagwa of running down the country.
Mnangagwa recently ordered the RBZ to stop foreign currency borrowing, as the government battles to contain a plunge in the local currency, a move Hanke described as ‘economic stupidity’.
“Zimbabwe’s President Mnangagwa is giving a masterclass in economic stupidity and corruption.
“With annual inflation at a whopping 1298% per year, he continues to try to push Zimbabweans to use the Zim dollar. He is leading Zimbabwe to ruins,” Hanke wrote on Twitter.
Mnangagwa faces a tough bid for re-election in the August 23 polls.
The value of Zimbabwe’s currency is falling dramatically by the day, prices are rising and businesses are demanding USD for goods and services.
Consumers have had their local currency value eroded, with an increasing number of basic goods now beyond their reach.
In May, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) reported that month on month inflation rose significantly to 15,7% on the back of a sharp increase in prices
ECONET Wireless Zimbabwe, the country’s largest mobile network operator has with effect from today (Tuesday) hiked data bundles by up to 300 percent.
“We are reviewing our ZWL data and SMEs bundle prices effective Tuesday, 20 June 2023,” it said in a brief notice.
An 8 gig private WIFI data bundle now costs ZW$111 342 up from ZW$37 114 while a 15 gig bundle is now available for ZW$201 033 up from ZW$67 011.
According to the network provider, a 25 gig will cost ZW$294 675 from ZW$98 225 and 50 gig users will have to pay ZW$506 106 up from ZW$168 702.
In its abridged consolidated financial statements for the year ended 28 February 2023, the network provider said it acknowledges the various interventions that the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has granted the sector in a bid to align operating costs with revenue-generating activities.
However, it said tariffs continue to fall behind inflation because of rapid changes in the macro-economic environment.
“This disparity occurs because tariffs for the sector are determined in the local currency, based on movements in inflation and in the exchange rates. This puts significant pressure on operating costs on the backdrop of grid power load shedding challenges.
” The prevailing tariff environment is a threat to the long-term viability of the local telecoms sector and curtails the ability of the sector to invest appropriately to meet customer demand, thereby undermining the quality of service,” it said.
My Dear Comrades and Countrymen,
I humbly write to you on the eve of the sitting of the nomination court to inform you that I have considered your plea for my return home to participate in our 2023 electoral processes. I accept the call to run for the Office of President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
My decision to stand as an independent candidate, painful as it is, arises out of two missed opportunities. Both in December 2017 and September 2022, our party Congress failed to allow fair competition for the presidency. As a result, it failed to unite the membership, forgive the past, and reconcile for the future of our glorious revolution. Unfortunately, to this day, notwithstanding a promise to let “bygones be bygones” post-November 2017 and a pledge to “restore the legacy” and values of our liberation movement, we continue to witness exclusionary politics; persecution of members who loyally served the people, the party, the government, and the late founding President, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe.
It is unacceptable that the so-called new dispensation has exiled myself and many other comrades over one key disagreement about how the internal succession process ought to have been handled. Our position was and remains clear, that without intimidation, and abuse of state institutions, Cde Mnangagwa could never have won and cannot win any leadership position in a fair and open political process.
Post-November 2017, together, we all gave the “new dispensation” leadership space to govern and to make responsible decisions in uniting the party and the country. In his 2018 campaign, Cde Mnangagwa promised to deliver health care for all, electricity, he promised the youth jobs, he promised educational reforms; he promised modern railway system; he promised to mechanise, modernise and grow the economy; he promised to conduct social and security reforms that predicate our international reengagement needs. On all counts, he has failed on his own promises.
The question for the party is whether Cde Mnangagwa must be allowed to fail for another five years at the expense of the people of Zimbabwe? The country cannot afford another five years of toxic political differences, a failed economy, and social strife. It is time to settle this by throwing this matter back to the people through this election for them to make a choice between fear and hope.
His conduct as party leader and state president is averse to the core values of the liberation movement of inclusive, open, and transparent politics. His tenure and leadership style so far have left our party structures – the Main Wing, the Women’s League, and the Youth League – badly exposed and threatened by corrupt, foreign, hero-worshipping “for ED” structures, which undermine elected national, provincial and district leaders and are disrespectful to our traditional leaders. In his own words, he advised President Mugabe that “the party is not your personal property nor that of your family” and let alone the country.
The leaders of these dodgy “for ED” groups have unlimited access to Cde Mnangagwa and unlimited resources while the party structures remain unfunded. You have witnessed these developments; you have seen the photographs of their flamboyant lives and association with Cde Mnangagwa and you have not been allowed to openly question these shenanigans. We need to renew politics in our country, reassert and give back power to the people. Cde Mnangagwa must give the party a chance to choose between the future and the past, between hope and fear.
Among the issues raised to justify Cde Mnangagwa’s attack on President Mugabe was that the latter was surrounded by criminals. Ironically, the ‘Gold Mafia’ expose, the arrest of public figures at the airport over gold smuggling, the lavish lifestyles of his family, some of whom have never worked a day in their lives, shows that persons very close to Cde Mnangagwa engage in various illicit businesses. The allegations that his family and associates have preferential access to foreign currency at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe have never been challenged or disproved. It is known that from Sandawana to Makaha his family has taken over gold mining, including having shares in government companies.
The government is silent on diamond exports which are unaccounted for. You are all aware that his family has taken over imports, distribution, and sale of fuel. You are all aware that his family and associates are involved in almost all the multi-billion-dollar Belarus deals. You have seen the obscenity of their sudden wealth, yet they argued that President Mugabe was surrounded by criminals. Despite a ban on export of lithium, you are aware that persons surrounding Cde Mnangagwa are in possession of export permits and that they are exporting it without any money to the treasury. The looting from the state must stop.
The reversal of the indigenisation process and the quiet reversal of the landmark land reform process by returning vast tracts of land to only farmers connected to Cde Mnangagwa, contrary to party congress decisions, is yet another sign of Cde Mnangagwa’s unpreparedness to respect the party structures and resolutions. Such cardinal decisions and resolutions adopted at congress cannot be reversed at the whims and caprices of an individual no matter their designation. Zanu PF is not his personal property.
It has become common cause that once gold and other precious minerals are discovered, the Mnangagwa associates and family move in to claim the deposits ahead of others.
The lived reality of our people is that the RTGS has lost all value. It is simply untrue that the RTGS “is the strongest currency in the region” when its highest denomination cannot buy a loaf of bread. The government itself through the auction rate accepts that the exchange rate is over RTGS 7,000 to the US dollar and continues to free-fall. The Reserve Bank Governor, who promised to resign if his “Bond Note 1:1 gedye” project failed, is still in office. The Minister of Finance who lied to the public that “zvinhu zvakarongeka;” “we have a budget surplus” when in fact people are suffering. The point is simple, the Mnangagwa administration is trying to run the economy through propaganda and not through well-thought-out ideas, properly implemented policies, and government discipline. No one is held accountable for their failures. Cde Mnangagwa selectively rewards the elite of the public service, yet the generality of the civil service is wallowing in abject poverty despite their spirited loyalty and patriotism. No attempt has been made to explain why Cde Mnangagwa can buy over 800 campaign vehicles but cannot provide ambulances, cancer machines at our referral hospitals. This speaks to his indifference to the suffering of Zimbabweans.
Comrades, the problems associated with a Mnangagwa presidency are known; the solution is a return to the values of the liberation movement of; the right of our people to choose their own leaders – in and outside Zanu PF; unity; gender, racial, and ethnic equality of all Zimbabweans; the ownership of and benefit from national resources ahead of foreigners. The respite our people felt politically, socially, and economically during the Government of National Unity period of 2009 -2013 should be a permanent experience borne out of an inclusive governance culture, ushered in by a generational consensus. Zimbabweans must find each other through an Intra-Zimbabwe Dialogue process beyond the politics of conquest predicated by our highly competitive and often toxic and disputed electoral politics. I intend to lead or to be an integral part of this constructive engagement process beyond this bid for the highest office.

♦ It’s time to Renew the country’s leadership, enshrine a new vision and aspirations to restore Zimbabwe’s glory. Zimbabwe must take its place amongst the world’s community of nations and as a responsible member of the international community. We need to implement and uphold the Constitution and respect the rights of all citizens.
♦ It’s time to Reconcile. To put our past differences aside and embrace one another while acknowledging our failures and repair the damage that has been caused internally and externally.
We must ensure a united approach to combat the twin evils of sanctions and corruption. The Gukurahundi question requires a permanent resolution, and peaceful closure, as with other past conflicts in our history. As the saying goes, united we stand, divided we fall.
♦ It’s time to Reform our national institutions so that they deliver for the benefit of the majority in a transparent and accountable manner. We are called upon to strengthen institutions in line with the Constitution and in alignment with the Pan-African and international standards. Abuse of national institutions must stop.
♦ It’s time to Revive Zimbabwe in an inclusive economic renaissance that incorporates all and leaves no one behind. We must empower the majority to ensure that everyone plays their part as agents of development. Zimbabweans should be at the core of the exploitation of national resources and economic growth. Zimbabwe belongs to all of us.
♦ It’s time to Rebuild. Zimbabwe which has a rich heritage of builders manifest in the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe. Let’s ignite the full potential of Zimbabweans to participate in the infrastructural revolution that lies ahead of us.
My dear comrades, I have written to illustrate some of the challenges we face. In so doing, I have taken the extraordinary step in these extraordinary times to make myself available for election to the office of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
I will be standing as an Independent Candidate in the August 23, 2023, national elections. In so doing, I will be proceeding to file my candidature in the nomination court in Harare on June 21, 2023.

By- CCC deputy President and Harare East legislator Tendai Bit has reportedly lost the party’s internal contest to represent the opposition party in the 23 August elections.
CCC Sunday finalised its internal election process to select its parliamentary candidate in Harare, with Biti locking horns with Harare North MP Allan Markham
Markham reportedly won the race to represent CCC in Harare East Constituency in national elections due 23 August this year.
It will be the first time in 23 years that the former Minister of Finance will not be part of the country’s legislative house.
However, a video of the CCC Harare East’s candidate selection process announced by a party official shows that Biti won over Markham.
The official emphasized that those who garnered more votes were not necessarily the winners as there are criteria that will be used to determine the CCC candidates for the elections.
By- The jailed Mai TT would miss the Winter Warmer Concert, set for Harare Gardens on July 2, which was planned to feature her celebrating her birthday.
Mai TT was set to celebrate her birthday at this family event, headlined by sungura giant Alick Macheso, Dorcas Moyo and Mathias Mhere.
The event organiser, however, said the show would go as planned despite comedienne Mai TT’s incarceration.
After Mai TT’s nine-months imprisonment for theft of trust property last week, questions have been raised on whether the show will continue.
Speaking to H-Metro Sunday, event organiser Samuel “Boss Werras” Saungweme said they were still going to celebrate Mai TT’s birthday.
“The show continues as planned.
“We have a huge line-up and Mai TT was part of the event to celebrate her birthday and we will still honour that even in her absence.
“The performing artists are still there.
“We are not going to abandon the plans, we are going to honour her while she is in prison.
“We are also going to engage relevant authorities and see if she can send a message to her fans when we visit her one of the days,” said Boss Werras.
CHECHECHE – Villagers from Checheche in Chipinge are angry with the imposition of businessman Enock Porusingazi as the ruling party candidate for the August 23, 2023 elections.
Speaking in interviews with The Mirror, the villagers said that Porusingazi lost the primary elections because the electorate no longer wanted him. They accused him of not initiating any development projects in the area in his current term Porusingazi lost the ruling party’s elections to Robert Nyemudzo but the latter was immediately arrested for brewing illicit beer and disqualified from the primaries. Porusingazi who came second automatically became the party candidate.
Combined Checheche Resident Association chairperson Win Bhila said imposed leaders do not have the interest of the community at heart.
“As a resident association, we want leaders who are community driven and chosen by the community. It’s the community which needs representation so we must choose leaders of our choice. Imposition of leaders by political parties is wrong. Those leaders don’t serve the interests of the community or the constituency. At times we are given bad leaders,” he said.
Porusingazi said he has done a lot of projects in the constituency and the electorate should be educated on the roles of an MP.
“I have done a lot of projects for this constituency. Residents should understand that they are the primary beneficiaries of everything that i have done. I recently constructed a male ward at St Peters Mission Hospital and currently i am rehabilitating the Checheche-Mabeye Road with the help of a private partner since the project requires a lot of money. I have drilled over 200 boreholes in the constituency and constructed a classroom block at Checheche High School among many other projects. The electorate should be educated on the role of an MP which is to make laws and not not rehabilitate roads,” said Porusungazi…Chipinge Times

MASVINGO – Chief Gutu like any other traditional leader has no authority to preside over defamation cases.
This is contained in an appeal document filed by CCC aspiring candidate Anderson Singende who was fined four beasts by Chief Gutu born Amon Masanganise for allegedly defaming Zanu PF councillor for Ward 38 in Gutu Takawira Chezhira and a married woman Priviledge Vanda who he is said to be having an adulterous affair with.
In an appeal filed by his lawyer Knowledge Mabvure of Chihambakwe Law Chambers, Singende said in his grounds of appeal that Chief Gutu’s court erred in entertaining a claim which he lacks jurisdiction over.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken a swipe at the country’s detractors who seek to destabilise the country’s economy and inflict suffering on Zimbabweans.
He was speaking at the Bernard Mizeki commemorations in Marondera this Saturday, where he joined Anglican Church congregates in celebrating the life and ministry of a saint.
Upon arrival, President Mnangagwa led a tree-planting exercise at the shrine followed by a procession which ushered guests and congregates into a mass and Holy Communion.
The excellent relations between the government and the church were on display, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa reminding stakeholders to be vigilant as the country’s detractors are working round the clock to destabilise the country’s economy.
“Let’s also remain steadfast against the onslaught by our detractors who seek to hurt our economy and inflict suffering on all of us. Such greedy, divisive and harmful tendencies are ungodly. Our collective energies, skills, ideas and competencies must be directed towards building a prosperous, modern and industrialised Zimbabwe,” he said.
Turning to the forthcoming general elections, President Mnangagwa said churches must continue to preach and pray for peace and unity during the election period.
“In Keeping with our national Constitution, our country will be holding General elections on the 23rd of August 2023. In this regard, I appeal to the Anglican Church and other churches throughout our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe to preach and pray for peace, unity and love; before, during and after elections. No one must tell us about having peaceful elections but ourselves because it is what we want. Christian denominations must build bridges,” the President said.
President Mnangagwa reminded Zimbabweans that it is everyone’s responsibility to fight the menace of drug and substance abuse.
“As a nation, right from the community and family levels, we all have to help in fighting the menace of drug and substance abuse which is destroying some of our young people. Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said citizens are ready for the August 23 harmonized elections.
According to President Chamisa, the citizens shall govern the country, despite desperate attempts by the Zanu PF regime to subvert the will of the people.

The qualifying campaign entered matchday five this week.
Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde and Mali became the latest teams to book their place at the finals.
Zambia joined South African on Saturday as another COSAFA nation going to the finals.
Equatorial Guinea and Egypt also qualified on Matchday 5.

CHECHECHE – Villagers from Checheche in Chipinge are angry with the imposition of businessman Enock Porusingazi as the ruling party candidate for the August 23, 2023 elections.
Speaking in interviews with The Mirror, the villagers said that Porusingazi lost the primary elections because the electorate no longer wanted him. They accused him of not initiating any development projects in the area in his current term Porusingazi lost the ruling party’s elections to Robert Nyemudzo but the latter was immediately arrested for brewing illicit beer and disqualified from the primaries. Porusingazi who came second automatically became the party candidate.
Combined Checheche Resident Association chairperson Win Bhila said imposed leaders do not have the interest of the community at heart.
“As a resident association, we want leaders who are community driven and chosen by the community. It’s the community which needs representation so we must choose leaders of our choice. Imposition of leaders by political parties is wrong. Those leaders don’t serve the interests of the community or the constituency. At times we are given bad leaders,” he said.
Porusingazi said he has done a lot of projects in the constituency and the electorate should be educated on the roles of an MP.
“I have done a lot of projects for this constituency. Residents should understand that they are the primary beneficiaries of everything that i have done. I recently constructed a male ward at St Peters Mission Hospital and currently i am rehabilitating the Checheche-Mabeye Road with the help of a private partner since the project requires a lot of money. I have drilled over 200 boreholes in the constituency and constructed a classroom block at Checheche High School among many other projects. Mai TT, born Felistas Murata, is serving a nine months jail term for stealing trust property.
Soon after her sentencing, some people took to social media platforms to mock the comedienne, who has more than 1.4 million followers on Facebook.
However, Seh Calaz believes it is wrong to celebrate Mai TT’s imprisonment, saying every person has his or her skeletons in the closet. He wrote on his Facebook page.

By- CCC deputy President and Harare East legislator Tendai Bit has reportedly lost the party’s internal contest to represent the opposition party in the 23 August elections.
CCC Sunday finalised its internal election process to select its parliamentary candidate in Harare, with Biti locking horns with Harare North MP Allan Markham.
Markham reportedly won the race to represent CCC in Harare East Constituency in national elections due 23 August this year.
It will be the first time in 23 years that the former Minister of Finance will not be part of the country’s legislative house.
However, a video of the CCC Harare East’s candidate selection process announced by a party official shows that Biti won over Markham.
The official emphasized that those who garnered more votes were not necessarily the winners as there are criteria that will be used to determine the CCC candidates for the elections.

There are panic stations inside Shake-shake building as Zanu PF candidates who lost primary elections have vowed to support Saviour Tyson Kasukuwere.
Kasukuwere is challenging Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa for the Presidency on August 23, 2023.
The candidates reportedly lost primary elections due to full scale rigging.
“We are behind Saviour, we will run as independent candidates and our Presidential candidate is Kasukuwere, we are over 100, ” said one Zanu PF official from Gokwe.
Another Zanu PF official urged party supporters to join hands on 23 August to re-elect ED. He also exhorted party zealots to move from primary election frustrations.
By- The jailed Mai TT would miss the Winter Warmer Concert, set for Harare Gardens on July 2, which was planned to feature her celebrating her birthday.
Mai TT was set to celebrate her birthday at this family event, headlined by sungura giant Alick Macheso, Dorcas Moyo and Mathias Mhere.
The event organiser, however, said the show would go as planned despite Comedienne Mai TT’s incarceration.
After Mai TT’s nine-month imprisonment for theft of trust property last week, questions have been raised on whether the show will continue.
Speaking to H-Metro Sunday, event organiser Samuel “Boss Werras” Saungweme said they were still going to celebrate Mai TT’s birthday.
“The show continues as planned.
“We have a huge line-up and Mai TT was part of the event to celebrate her birthday and we will still honour that even in her absence.
“The performing artists are still there.
“We are not going to abandon the plans, we are going to honour her while she is in prison.
“We are also going to engage relevant authorities and see if she can send a message to her fans when we visit her one of the days,” said Boss Werras.
By- Jailed popular comedienne Felistas Murata’s prison gab picture has gone viral, with people expressing mixed feelings towards her conviction.
Known as Mai TT, the comedian was sentenced to an effective nine (9) months imprisonment in the entertainment cycles.
Murata was convicted of theft of trust property of a hired car.
Last week a Harare Magistrate sent Mai TT to jail after saying she was not eligible for community services.
Below were the reasons for sentencing:
The court considered that the accused is a female offender who has two minor children. It’s a well-settled position that sentencing should be rational and fair.
The court takes cognisant that she didn’t benefit from the offence as the car was recovered. The court appreciates that the conviction already embarrasses her but a fine would trivialize the offence.
Community service would have been appropriate, but she has proven that she’s not eligible for community service. She is therefore sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, 6 months are suspended on condition that she doesn’t commit a similar offence in the next five years, and 6 months are effective.
For defaulting on 105 hours of community service 8 years ago, she will now serve three months in prison.

Overview
The abuse of older people, also known as elder abuse, is a single or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. This type of violence constitutes a violation of human rights and includes physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse; financial and material abuse; abandonment; neglect; and serious loss of dignity and respect.
Scope of the problem
Abuse of older people is an important public health problem. A 2017 review of 52 studies in 28 countries from diverse regions estimated that over the past year 1 in 6 people (15.7%) aged 60 years and older were subjected to some form of abuse (1). Although rigorous data are limited, the review provides prevalence estimates of the proportion of older people affected by different types of abuse.
Data on the extent of the problem in institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities are scarce. However, a review of recent studies on abuse of older people in institutional settings (2) indicates that 64.2% of staff reported perpetrating some form of abuse in the past year.
Emerging evidence indicates that the prevalence of abuse of older people in both the community and in institutions have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. A US study, for instance, suggests that rates in the community may have increased by as much as 84% (3).

Globally, the number of cases of elder abuse is projected to increase as many countries have rapidly ageing populations. Even if the proportion of victims of abuse of older people remains constant, the global number of victims will increase rapidly due to population ageing, growing to some 320 million victims by 2050, as the global population of people aged 60 years and more increases to 2 billion by 2050.
Consequences
Abuse of older people can have serious physical and mental health, financial, and social consequences, including, for instance, physical injuries, premature mortality, depression, cognitive decline, financial devastation and placement in nursing homes. For older people, the consequences of abuse can be especially serious and recovery may take longer (4).
Risk factors
Individual level characteristics which increase the risk of becoming a victim of abuse include functional dependence/disability, poor physical health, cognitive impairment, poor mental health and low income. Individual level characteristics which increase the risk of becoming a perpetrator of abuse include mental illness, substance abuse and dependency – often financial – of the abuser on the victim. At the relationship level, the type of relationship (e.g., spouse/partner or child/parent) and marital status may be associated with an elevated risk of abuse, but these factors vary by country and region. Community- and societal-level factors linked to elder abuse may include ageism against older people and certain cultural norms (e.g., normalization of violence). Social support and living alone reduce the likelihood of elder abuse (5).
Prevention
Many strategies have been tried to prevent and respond to abuse of older people, but evidence for the effectiveness of most of these interventions is limited at present. Strategies considered most promising include caregiver interventions, which provide services to relieve the burden of caregiving; money management programmes for older adults vulnerable to financial exploitation; helplines and emergency shelters; and multi-disciplinary teams, as the responses required often cut across many systems, including criminal justice, health care, mental health care, adults protective services and long-term care (5).
In some countries, the health sector has taken a leading role in raising public concern about abuse of older people, while in others the social welfare sector has taken the lead. Globally, too little is known about elder abuse and how to prevent it, particularly in developing countries.

There was a wedding on the 10th of June at a resort in Harare. Around 350 guests attended. At least 40 of them developed cholera symptoms some few days after the wedding and as at 16 June, 5 had been confirmed to have Cholera.
The Guests were from Malborough, Budiriro, Glen Norah among other areas. Some from outside Harare. We expect more cases as secondary cases arise from these. We urge residents to continue practicing good hygiene to mitigate the spread of cholera.

By- Zanu PF has hijacked the funeral of the country’s top yester-year bus operator, Ben Mucheche.
The party Sunday stormed the Mucheche family’s Beatrice home and declared the late businessman a national hero.
Mucheche succumbed to heart failure at his farm in Beatrice on June 14 at 96.
The conferment of national hero status was announced last night by Zanu PF national chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri at the farm.
“We have been sent by His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, to convey his deepest condolences to the Mucheche family. He wanted us to tell you that Cde Mucheche was not only your son but a son of the whole nation who was hard working, trustworthy and full of love for everyone. After considering his contribution to the struggle, the President saw it fit to declare him a National Hero,” she said.
Muchinguri-Kashiri chronicled the work done by Mucheche as he played his part to uplift the lives of black people during the liberation war and after.
She said Mucheche’s journey was very clear as he worked with leaders within the then nationalist movement.
“He was eager to make sure that black people’s lives were made easier during the war and he did this selflessly, regardless of the risk on his person. He was dedicated to helping the black people gain freedom as well as financial independence. We worked with him before and after independence and he would assist with transport and movement of information”.
Cde Mucheche was the founder of the Indigenous Business Development Centre and owned the now defunct Mucheche Bus Company.
His son, Mr Ben Mucheche Junior, expressed gratitude to the Government for recognising their father’s hard work and contribution to the country.
“As a family, we are grateful to Zanu PF and President Mnangagwa for the honour bestowed on our father. National hero status is the highest honour which could have been given to him and we are thankful. We appreciate the work done by our father for his family and his country,” he said.
Mr Mucheche Jnr described his father as a hardworking man and one of the finest business people who was always eager to help where he was needed.
He said Mucheche had remained loyal to his country after independence until the time of his death.
Mashonaland East Zanu PF provincial chairman Daniel Garwe said Mucheche had lived a long, full life and deserved to be celebrated.
“Of course we are pained that we lost someone who was always there with advice for us but we are celebrating the life that he lived. He played an important role in the history of our country from the days of the liberation war. I was one of those mujibhas who worked with him back then. He would send us clothes for the freedom fighters. Even in business, he taught us and guided us,” he said.
Garwe said the provincial leadership was happy that Mucheche had been bestowed the honour befitting such a man.
A teacher by profession, Mucheche was the first person to establish a taxi rank at Machipisa shopping centre in Highfield, Harare, in 1956.
He worked with veteran nationalists among them former President Robert Mugabe, James Chikerema, Joshua Nkomo, George Nyandoro, Daniel Madzimbamuto and Edgar Tekere among others with the task of transporting the nationalists to meetings in Highfield in the cover of darkness. He also helped to transport food, clothes and telephones for communication.
In 1963, he gave his vehicle for use by the leadership of Zapu, which was however, confiscated by the Rhodesian government after the party was banned and sold at an auction.
He was at one time detained by the police for transporting recruited cadres to Mozambique but he resisted arrest.
After independence, Mucheche offered his premises in Southerton to house all vehicles belonging to Zanu PF since the party had no garage to keep its fleet.
He was the first black person to sit on the Reserve Bank board between 1975 and 1986.
Mucheche led the African Business Organisation from 1973 to 1986 which to date is known as the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce.
Mucheche was also the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Rural Transport Organisation between 1976 and 2002.
He is survived by four wives, 24 children, 27 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

Today, even in times of difficulty, Zimbabwe is a free and vibrant society, and it is a nation which has embarked on furious growth.
Under President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, these achievements should never be taken for granted.
Zimbabwe has faced its worst economic, financial and social crisis since 2008. And it is still struggling with the consequences. We can use the word ‘sabotage’ to describe the current situation. Our various challenges from the security threats in our neighbourhood Mozambique Cabo Delgado and at home to the currency crisis, and to the cruel price hikes, have not only arrived at the same time. They also feed each other, creating a sense of doubt and uncertainty in the minds of our people. For too many years now, Zimbabwe and its people have been at the eye of the storm, and today we must salute the patience and determination you have shown. Your actions and your sacrifices underline your commitment to the task facing our country. Your perseverance is also a testimony of your place within Africa and the world.
As we surge close to the election date, let us all bring a message of determination and hope for Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans, but it is a demanding message at the same time. We must have hope as patriots, as you know, we can share some uncomfortable truths. For Zimbabwe, the challenge that this great nation and people face is not only economic and social: it is about building a modern patriotic Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe– which is able to deliver on the promises of this great democracy; the Zimbabwe which cares and which works for its people; the people who make Zimbabwe a proud nation despite challenges.
Our commitment to Zimbabwe and its place in the world where it belongs, securely anchored, is nothing new. We have always put our trust in ED and ED put his in the people, and it remains there today. It was under ED’s Presidency that Zimbabwe embarked on a significant restructuring of private debt, and envisaged the possibility of debt relief in the future. Zimbabwe cleared most of its debts without borrowing and under sanctions.
Even before taking office, ED made it clear that mistakes – on all sides – had been made, and he wanted to change the way things are done. He wanted to replace the a hard-handed approach with a more democratic and a more accountable structure. He argued that the Zimbabwean people should play a bigger role. ED has always wanted a stronger social dimension for the nation and for any future programme. Bringing Zimbabwe to the Commonwealth was a political and democratic process, and it was a hard fight; we all can see that doors have been knocked and are being opened. Endless days and nights meetings of the Heads of States and Governments Parliaments mobilised. Pressure in the markets, pressure in the media. As Zimbabweans, we did not like what we heard in some local forest press, but democratically the democratic space was left open for all. We did not like what we saw and heard from our own opposition. Finger-pointing, insults, scapegoats, lies. We saw the ghosts of the past. We saw Africa at its worst.
We fought for the dignity of the Zimbabwean people. We fought for the respect of all the other democracies and their people. In just under five years, ED fought for the general interest and the values of the Zimbabwean rise. He fought for a simple idea in the country responsibility and solidarity go together.
In all this fight, the enemies of peace waited for the announcement of an election date so that they unleashed untold suffering upon the masses so that they could be starved to rebellion.
Zimbabwe must remember that the world did go through such economic turmoils before.
Remember the Depression of 1920–21, a U.S. economic recession following the end of WW1 ? Again, there was the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression (1929–1939), the worst Depression in modern history. All in all, the seven crises that we can remember are the Great Depression of 1932; the Suez Crisis of 1956; the International Debt Crisis of 1982; the East Asian Economic Crisis of 1997-2001; the Russian Economic Crisis of 1992-97, the Latin American Debt Crisis in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina 1994-2002, and the Global Economic Recession 2007-09.
This shows us that what we are facing now has nothing to do with mismanagement or corruption.
Zimbabwe is under attack and the target is our stomachs.
We meet at a moment of great uncertainty for Zimbabwe. The economic crisis we face is the worst since 2008 Depression. Markets across the globe have become increasingly unstable, and millions of Zimbabweans will open up their bank statements this week and see that so much of their hard-earned savings have disappeared.
The economic crisis has left businesses large and small unable to get loans, which means they can’t buy new equipment, or hire new workers, or even make payroll for the workers they have.
Industries which were starting to crawl are being hit right in the ankles. They are attacked and cannot rise. All this was happening at the time of the elections. Is it a coincidence, or is someone hitting the sack like a cat?
At this rate, the question isn’t just “are you better off than you were four years ago?”, it’s “are you better off than you were four weeks ago?”
We know these are difficult times. We know people are worried. But we also know this – we can steer ourselves out of this crisis. Because we are the Zimbabweans and we are ZANU PF. We are the country that has faced down war sanctions and Depression, great challenges and great threats. And at each and every moment, we have risen to meet these challenges as Zimbabweans. It won’t be easy, but there’s no reason we can’t make this year another ZANU PF and Zimbabwean year.
But it will take a new direction. It will take new commitment by you by us. It will take a real continuation of the works which were started in the past five years. This is why we are saying money or no money we give ED the chance to finish the task he started. And that’s why we are saying ED PFEE.
OUR opponents the CCC have made their choice. In his campaign CHAMISA announced that they were going to “turn the page” on the discussion about our economy so they can spend the final month of this election asking the colonisers to come back. Asking them to reverse the gains of our independence. Asking them to come and urinate on the graves of our fallen heroes. We’ve seen where that’s led us and we’re not going back. It’s time to turn the page and move on.
It is not a coincidence that prices escalated when elections were announced. While others are pulling an economic sabotage card to starve the people to abandon their party Over the course of this campaign, ZANU PF has laid out a set of policies that will grow our middle-class and strengthen our economy in the long-term. ZANU PF has ensured every youth can compete in the economy by allowing them to own mines farms and to run industries and make Zimbabwe work again. ZANU PF is in the process of creating five million new, high-wage jobs by investing in the renewable sources of energy and in land and mines and we’ll create two million jobs by rebuilding our crumbling roads, schools and bridges building our cities which have been destroyed by the city fathers who were all from the opposition.
But that’s a long-term strategy for growth. Right now, we face an immediate economic emergency that requires urgent action. We can’t wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now – who don’t know if their job or their retirement will be there tomorrow, who don’t know if next week’s paycheck will cover this month’s bills. We need to pass an economic rescue plan for the middle-class and we need to do it now. ED is proposing a number of steps that we should take immediately to stabilise our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners. It’s a plan that begins with one word that’s on everyone’s mind, and it’s spelled J-O-B-S and a demand to end the Price madness.
Election date is 23 August 2023 but ZANU PF is not waiting until then to start creating new jobs ED is on the ground running.
To fuel the real engine of job creation in this country, ED also proposed eliminating all capital gains taxes on investments in small businesses and start-up companies, and he has proposed an additional tax incentive to encourage new small business investment. It is time to protect the jobs we have and to create the jobs of tomorrow by unlocking the drive, and ingenuity, and innovation of the Zimbabwean people. Mnangagwa is on the drive to end our dependence on foreign donors.
While others are campaigning ZANU PF is fighting the problems and making sure that the nation enjoys peace with full stomachs. ZANU PF is creating jobs by providing a growth fund that will provide money to provinces and local communities so that they can move forward with projects to rebuild and repair our economy,our roads, our bridges and our schools. A lot of these projects and these jobs are at risk right now because of budget shortfalls, but this ED and ZANU PF will make sure they continue.
The president is coming up with a rescue plan is to provide immediate relief to families who are watching their paycheck shrink and their jobs and life savings disappear. A cushion has already been provided for our civil servants.
At a time when the ups and downs of the stock market have rarely been so unpredictable and dramatic, we also need to give families and retirees more flexibility and security when it comes to their retirement savings. This nonsense of price hikes is stopping now not in August.
Now, one of the reasons 2023 August 23 will be an unusual election is because people are anxious and uncertain about the economy. And our politics are a natural place to channel that frustration. We are here to talk about that anxiety, that economic anxiety, and what it means. We must remember that our economy is not just better than it was eight years ago — it is the strongest, most durable economy in the world. But it is under attack by cowards proponents of Regime Change. Despite what we are going through now we will make it even stronger, and expand opportunity for even more people. But to do that, we have to be honest about what our real challenges are, and we’ve got to make some smart decisions going forward. We must talk about the deficit and the financial problems that we face. But at the same time as that we must never take our eyes off the need for building strong and sustained economic growth growth in which we must all play a huge part.The knowledge-based economy is the economy of the future, and in building that economy and in recognising that it is not just about young people’s skills but about people’s skills all through their lives, we alll have a huge, huge role to play.
it is vital that ZANU PF prevail in this election because it has a job to finish. ED is not a man who hides or exaggerates problems; he fights them head-on.

All of this is happening at a time when things are changing and taking a new shape across the world. Too often, we focus on crises, and we forget the bigger picture. And the bigger picture tells us that a lot has happened in the world economy over the last 20 months. We are pushing for new sources of growth with new strategies. We set out a new roadmap for the future of Zimbabwe so that we can better support our people as they modernise their economies and give them new flexibility to carry out reforms and investments. ZANU PF is pushing for a robust social agenda, focusing on skills, rolling out a Youth Guarantee and promoting health and safety at work. And if you look at the facts: there is a recovery in Zimbabwe. There is job creation. Zimbabwe is very much on the mend. So this is not the nation of blind, stupid madness many people continue fantasising about. ZANU PF has a new momentum with its efforts over the last five years and the encouraging signs it is creating a window of opportunity. And with your vote, Zimbabwe now has the chance to turn the corner.

FORMER National Youth Service (NYS) graduates, commonly known as ‘Green Bombers’, have threatened to physically assault dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives and police officers deemed “unpatriotic” who are plotting Zanu-PF’s electoral loss come 23 August plebiscites.
Speaking during a meeting at Banket Sports Club recently, aimed at setting up a NYS graduates association, national commander Tichaona Zimbiru claimed the mobilisation concept used by CIO-linked Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (FAZ) was hijacked from his organisation, before attacking some spy agents and cops branding them “unpatriotic.”
“As graduates of NYS, we were supposed to be carrying out and earning through what FAZ is doing.
“The concept they are using was hijacked from us after I put the concept proposal and sadly now CIO operatives who are just people who merely sought employment are now running around claiming to protect Zanu-PF interests,” Zimbiru said.
Green Bombers gathered for the Indaba were ordered to physically discipline CIO and police officers, who attempt to stop them from carrying out activities to prop Zanu-PF.
“Therefore, you do not have to take them as your boss, we only honour and respect the President. Anyone trying to stop us from conducting our duties of defending the party can be beaten, especially these CIO-linked FAZ members,” Zimbiru said.
The NYS national commander alleged President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government was neglecting youth militias, who have been sidelined for too long.
“We demand recognition and restoration of benefits for NYS graduates who took part in the national youth service training.
“It’s true we have been sidelined and its time we take back our position in Zanu-PF like before, although we are partly to blame as we had taken a back seat,” he said
Zimbabwe is heading towards a fourth revolution of economic prosperity that needs a younger generation that has clean hands, Zimbiru added.
“Current leaders cannot take us to the fruits of the fourth revolution as they have blood on their hands, though it was necessary for them to kill during their time so that we can be where we are now.
“However, they cannot take us out of the current economic challenges as the fourth revolution is spiritual and needs people without blood on their hands, who are the young ones,” he sensationally claimed.
Tawanda Piriyano, the association’s national member, took a dig at Mashonalnd West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, whom he described as “an ordinary person with civilian brains.”
“We have to deal with the Minister of State (Mliswa) to remove the civilian brains in her as she is troublesome. We face challenges with her when it comes to access to land to settle on,” Piriyano said.
During the meeting, it was suggested that NYS graduates should benefit from 10 percent shares across all sectors.
It was claimed NYS graduates were in possession of a letter from the Local Government permanent secretary empowering them to identify and get land for residential stands for their members within rural district councils.
Under then-president, Robert Mugabe’s rule Green Bombers were directly employed in parastatals and local authorities while a majority of unattached NYS graduates were on the government’s salary payroll.
The curious timing of tabling of grievances by the former NYS trainees raises eyebrows as they come after former Youth Minister Saviour Kasukuwere, who was instrumental in mobilising jobs and other benefits for the defacto youth militia, announced his 2023 Presidential election bid.
Transform Zimbabwe (TZ) has pledged to rally behind the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the general elections after its leader Jacob Ngarivhume was imprisoned early this year.
In a statement, TZ said the refusal by High Court judge Justice Benjamin Chikowero to grant a bail application by Ngarivhume on June 14 blocked its leader from contesting in the presidential election on August 23.
The party said the move by the High Court was a ploy to deny Ngarivhume the opportunity to participate in the elections.
“Indeed, our president touched the raw nerve: Corruption, which is causing our nation to crumble in all dimensions much to the suffering of many but to the pleasure of a few,” TZ said.
“We resolved that the best foot forward for the people of Zimbabwe is to give our support to our brothers and sisters in CCC. We, therefore, urge our supporters to vote for the CCC president Nelson Chamisa, aspiring legislators and councillors.”
TZ said it shared similar values and objectives with CCC.
“CCC shares many of our core objectives and values, including democracy, accountability, social justice, freedom of expression, economic development and job creation,” the party said.
“We believe that by endorsing CCC, we can contribute to the broader goal of promoting fair and democratic elections, ensuring that the voice of the people is represented and heard.”
The party also called on its party members, supporters and the general public to consider the endorsement of CCC in the upcoming election.
“Together, we can work towards a bright future, championing the causes we believe in and advocating for the rights and welfare of our fellow citizens,” TZ said.
“We would like to express our gratitude to all our supporters who have stood by us during this challenging time.
“We remain committed to serving the interests of the people and we will continue to work towards the realisation of our vision and goals.”

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has hit back at claims that the party is weak, saying the opposition is ready for the elections set for August 23.
“We have our friend from Tsholotsho, Jonathan (Moyo), saying CCC is weak. He is speaking while he is in Kenya but the struggle is real and local. We are here locally,” CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Siziba told a party gathering in Tshabalala, Bulawayo on Friday last week.
Zimbabwe is gearing for a pulsating campaign, with the nomination courts sitting on Wednesday this week.
“There was a survey carried out by research institutions and they predicted a Chamisa victory. Police, CIO, military survey, citizens, teachers it was all Chamisa” he said.
The opposition party was commemorating the June 16, 1976 Soweto Uprising, which is celebrated as National Youth Day in the neighbouring country. Young people and students revolted against the apartheid regime on the day.
“They want us to become violent so they provoke us and then they will arrest our leader. We will not do that because we will fight them on the ballot paper.
“In South Africa there was a revolution led by the young people. In the context of Zimbabwe today the question is, what is the revolution? It’s the national democratic revolution,” he said.
Siziba said jobless and hungry young Zimbabweans were looking up to Chamisa.
“We are missionaries, we implement the revolution and the method is the ballot. Yesterday, it was through the bullet led by our fathers Nikita Mangena, Joshua Nkomo, (Dumiso) Dabengwa and (Josiah) Tongogara,” Siziba said.
He said voters would judge harshly leaders who abandoned them after the 2018 elections.
“During COVID-19 lockdown, some of the people we voted for were no longer greeting people. They would wave one hand while inside their D4Ds and GD6s and people would be told to greet the MP with a stick.
“Some became councillors, for example, you are councillor for ward 16 in the high density area then we hear that you now have four residential stands in the Famona or you now live there and you have left the people.
“Let me tell you comrades, this movement won’t be contaminated by thieves.”
Siziba said CCC would address concerns raised by its supporters in some areas such as Cowdray Park where residents complained of candidate imposition and tribalism.
“One of the things that is important to us is the identity of our people, their culture and their views. We are not going to field anyone who is not from the people. It’s okay for someone to want to be an MP but we will go with the one that the people want,” he said.

I am a Zanu PF member, Mutero Village Cell, Chevecheve District under Gokwe DCC led by Hon.Tawanda Karikoga who is being harassed and tormented by men who are claiming to be CIOs.
The genesis of the story was when I announced that I wanted to contest as a councilor ward 25 in Gokwe under my party Zanu PF. The situation got worse when I demanded in a Gokwe whatsapp group that my MP Honorable Karikoga to disclose how he has been using the CDF funds from 2018 up to this day. As a person who was preparing to contest as a councilor I felt this information was essential to me as I will be marketing my Party, my president ED Mnangagwa and my MP as well during my campaigns. My MP Honorable Karikoga showed that he didn’t like the fact that I had asked for such information. He called me all sorts of names and he subsequently blocked me on WhatsApp.
Soon after that incident I received a message through my whatsapp from a guy named Machiha who claimed to be a CIO from Gokwe center. He said he wanted to see me in his office but he didn’t state why he wanted to see me and so I did go to him. After a month he also sent a message again saying I must visit him at Gokwe center. As a person who was expecting to be a councillor I thought this CIO man, maybe, he wanted to give me some tips on how to win an election so I went there.
I was shocked because by the moment I entered his office i was now like a prisoner. I was interrogated for almost 4 hours in his office. The main issue was , why did I asked for a breakdown of how Hon Karikoga used the CDF funds over the past 5 years. I was threatened and I was warned that I will get unspecified harm if I continue to de-campaign verbally or electronically Hon. Karikoga.
All these issues took place in 2022 .Then in 2023 in January I left Zimbabwe and I went into a neighboring country. Suddenly, a new person who was claiming to be a CIO calling himself Benjie but my investigations proved that his real name is Johannes C Kalinda, whatsapp number +263 78 618 1122 started to send me threatening messages again on my phone.This man said he has been assigned by Hon Karikoga, Hon Ncube from Kana, Chief Njelele and Headman Gumbero to kill me.
When I asked him why would all these people demand for my head he said it is because I demanded to inow how Karikoga had used the CDF funds. He went on to say I also criticized President ED Mnangagwa, Karikoga and Mudha and therefore he will make sure that he will kill me the day I will cross back into Zimbabwe.At one point he sent me some types of guns he has and I asked me to pick the one I would like him to use the day he will kill me.
He went on to say he will shoot me the way my father was shot and killed during the gukurahundi era zvikarova and likewise he will kill me and nobody will ever be arrested for that zvonongorova.
At one point he said before my death he wanted to visit my wife and sleep with her. He also said nothing will stop him from doing so because Emmanuel Jaji is sleeping with my wife and that he has evidence to those allegations.
These threats have been going on since January until today. At one point he said he is reliably informed that I am busy sourcing arms of war so that I come back and stage a coup against ED Mnangagwa’s government. He said for that reason he has been tasked to make sure that the day I return back to Zimbabwe he will kill me right at the border.
I felt i cant keep this to myself.I contacted Chief Njelele over this mans claims but Chief Njelele said he doesn’t know this man and that he is not part of this guys stupid threats to my life.I also contacted MP Karikoga who at first distanced himself from this man’s claims and threats to my life but later he shared a message on whatsapp groups saying I am mentally disturbed.I wonder why he chose to do so because I thought that he was supposed to contact Johannes C Kalinda and find out why he was using his name to threaten me( I had given him the contact details for Kalinda) .I also contacted Hon Mudha who chose not to respond to my whatsapp messages though he read my message.
I wonder why I must be a target of the Gokwe CIO office. I didn’t contest in the Zanu PF primaries and also considering that I am outside Zimbabwe for the past six months. I am not a threat to anyone.
I was born in Zimbabwe and my ancestors originated from Buhera Zimbabwe but now a man by the name Kalinda a surname which clearly tells me that this guy’s father or forefathers originally came to Zimbabwe during the Rhodesia and Nyasaland federation is trying to stop me from coming back to my own country Nyika yangu yechipikigwa , i dont think its fair.
I am calling upon the arms of the law , the ZRP , CIO, ARMY, and other security organizations to protect me from Johannes C Kalinda who is threatening to kill me or stop me from returning back to my country Zimbabwe.

In this regard, I appeal to the Anglican Church and other churches throughout our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe to preach and pray for peace, unity and love; before, during and after elections. No one must tell us about having peaceful elections but ourselves because it is what we want. Christian denominations must build bridges,” the President said.

Transform Zimbabwe President Jacob Ngarivhume bail pending his appeal at the High Court has been quashed. The judge has dismissed the application and Jacob Ngarivhume will remain in custody pending his appeal hearing.
He is appealing both conviction and sentence.
Jacob Ngarivhume defense counsel Prof L Madhuku and Mr M Nkomo are still reading the judgement and will advise on the next steps. They will be looking at the merits of appealing today’s judgement at the Supreme Court or to wait for the appeal hearing.
We view today’s judgement as a travesty of justice and as clear evidence that the state is using the judiciary to fight its opponents. We see this as the state’s ploy to deny Jacob Ngarivhume an opportunity to participate in the 23rd August harmonized elections.

By Dr Masimba Mavaza- Consumers have reacted with shock and total disgust to the unreasonable and fictitious unrealistic exchange rates, pushing the prices of basic goods in local currency to blow the roof at a rocket-like speed. The nation is witnessing a free fall in the currency and a steep rise in pricing, which resembles a dog’s breakfast. This is done by some satanic demon-possessed unscrupulous retail players in Zimbabwe.
It must be mentioned that a lower-valued currency makes a country’s imports more expensive and its exports less expensive in foreign markets. A higher exchange rate can be expected to worsen a country’s balance of trade, while a lower exchange rate can be expected to improve it.
When an exchange rate changes, the value of one currency will go up while the value of the other currency will go down. When the value of a currency increases, it is said to have appreciated. On the other hand, when the value of a currency decreases, it is said to have depreciated. Aside from factors such as interest rates and inflation, the currency exchange rate is one of the most important determinants of a country’s relative level of economic health. Exchange rates play a vital role in a country’s level of trade, which is critical to almost every free market economy in the world. For this reason, exchange rates are among the most watched, analyzed, and governmentally manipulated economic measures. But exchange rates matter on a smaller scale as well: they impact the real return of an investor’s portfolio. So there is a very well thought campaign by the opposition and the detractors.
What drives exchange rates? Exchange rates are constantly moving based on supply and demand. Whether one currency is in higher demand than another depends on the perceived value of owning it, either to pay for goods and services or as an investment.
Numerous factors determine exchange rates. Remember, exchange rates are relative and are expressed as a comparison of two countries’ currencies. So in our situation, the Government does not control the exchange rate because it is a rate of two currencies used in the same country. That is the US dollar and the Zimbabwean dollar. The Government puts up its interbank rate, but the captains of businesses deliberately refuse to accept it, thereby causing an upsurge above the government rate.
Interest rates, inflation, and exchange rates are all highly correlated. By manipulating interest rates, industry Captains and banks exert influence over both inflation and exchange rates and changing interest rates impact inflation and currency values. Higher interest rates offer lenders in an economy a higher return relative to other countries. Therefore, higher interest rates attract foreign capital and cause the exchange rate to rise. The impact of higher interest rates is mitigated, however, if inflation in the country is much higher than in others or if additional factors serve to drive the currency down. The opposite relationship exists for decreasing interest rates – that is, lower interest rates tend to decrease exchange rates.
One does not need much analyzing to understand the direct relationship between the consecutive collapses in the ZW dollar exchange rate on the one hand, and the hardship the vast majority of Zimbabwe is experiencing on the other.
With the increase in the black market exchange rate to over 10,000 bond for a US dollar, the value of the minimum wage dropped to less than $68, one of the world’s lowest in terms of actual value. Before the crisis, the minimum wage of 675,000 ZW dollars was worth some $450, which means that the Zimbabwean currency lost around 185% of its value in two months.
The minimum salary in government jobs declined from $633 before the crisis to $17 today. In other words, in two months, the Zimbabweans lost what it took them 26 years to gain. A large debt encourages inflation, and if inflation is high, the debt will be serviced and ultimately paid off with cheaper real dollars in the future.
In the worst-case scenario, a government may print money to pay part of a large debt, but increasing the money supply inevitably causes inflation. The Government of Zimbabwe is rendered incapable of servicing its deficit through domestic means (selling domestic bonds, increasing the money supply); a large debt may prove worrisome to foreigners if they believe the country risks defaulting on its obligations. Foreigners will be less willing to own securities denominated in that currency if the risk of default is great. For this reason, the country’s debt rating is a crucial determinant of its exchange rate.
Foreign investors inevitably seek out stable countries with strong economic performance in which to invest their capital. A country with such positive attributes will draw investment funds away from other countries perceived to have more political and economic risk.
The exchange rate of the currency in which a portfolio holds the bulk of its investments determines that portfolio’s real return. A declining exchange rate obviously decreases the purchasing power of income and capital gains derived from any returns. Moreover, the exchange rate influences other income factors such as interest rates, inflation, and even capital gains from domestic securities. While exchange rates are determined by numerous complex factors that often leave even the most experienced economists flummoxed, investors should still have some understanding of how currency values and exchange rates play an important role in the rate of return on their investments.

For developing countries, exchange rate policy is both crucially important and daunting. It is crucially important because it affects how the national economy interacts with the rest of the world economy. It is daunting because currency policy involves a series of difficult trade-offs, which force governments to make difficult choices. This can be seen by examining the two principal goals of exchange rate policy.
Regulating the Relationship Between Foreign and Domestic Prices
A country’s exchange rate determines how international prices are translated into local and domestic prices and vice versa. A firm or appreciated currency has a high value relative to foreign currencies. A weak currency makes domestic manufacturers and farmers more competitive in both foreign and domestic markets. But it makes domestic consumers poorer, less able to buy goods. There is no way for a government to avoid this problematic choice:
It is commonplace in macroeconomics that the exchange rate is the most important price in any economy, affecting all other prices. In most countries, policy toward national currency is prominent and controversial. Exchange rates are so central to the world economy that the prevailing exchange rate system often knows economic epochs
The analysis of the political economy of currency policy has focused on two sets of questions. The first is global and has to do with the character of the international monetary system. The second is national and has to do with the policy of particular governments towards their exchange rates. These two interact. National policies, especially of large countries, have an impact on the international monetary system. By the same token, the global monetary regime influences national policy choices. The ‘cost of living crisis’ refers to the fall in ‘real’ disposable incomes (that is, adjusted for inflation and after taxes and benefits)
It is laughable for anyone to say inflation can only be controlled by the Government.
The Government has responded to the crisis with several packages of support.
Inflation is calculated as the average change in the price of typical goods and services purchased by households over 12 months. Exchange rate fluctuations send the wrong message to economic agents, affect the credibility of the Government and result in loss of welfare for the whole society. Therefore, the optimal economic and political scenario revolves around stable equilibrium exchange rates.
It is correct that Zimbabwe is battling its worst economy in four years. The national currency is in freefall, while poverty and unemployment are on the rise.
Consequently, the country has joined the world’s lowest ranks in terms of minimum wage, along with such countries as Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Angola and Sudan. Zimbabwe’s dependence on imported consumer goods only aggravates the per capita fall in income in comparison to countries that have witnessed a similar crisis in recent years. Due to the decrease in the local production of goods and the dependence on imports, a decrease in the Zin dollar exchange rate will have an immediate effect on market prices and negatively affect people’s purchasing power.
It has become obvious, however, that the Zim dollar cannot continue to subsidize such imports, as its foreign currency reserves are rapidly depleting.
A removal of subsidies essentially means that importers will have to go to the black market for their dollars to be able to import these products, which consequently will greatly increase in price.
The brutal rise in international oil prices (some 70% over the past year) will only severe the crisis’ intensity. A big rise in prices is expected for local derivatives. Based on the price of imported fuel today and the current exchange rate on the black market, the price of a can of gasoline could reach up to 100,000 Zim bond.
OK Zimbabwe retail outlets were using the official rate of 1:1 404.
“We are governed by the Government position, meaning we are using the official bank rate, which also allows us to add the legal 10 percent rate difference,” said a manager at one of the retail giant’s shops in the city.TM Pick n Pay.
Residents have since appealed to the Government to act and bring the situation under control noting that some retailers were clearly on an extortionist overdrive to frustrate efforts to stabilise the economy. Some are on an agenda of regime change.
The situation is now out of control, these shops are clearly fleecing citizens. Something must be done urgently to stop this tide. Government should move in quickly and stop the price hike madness. The law must take its course.
“This is madness at its worst, are we a lawless country? Government must stop this madness,I think it’s now time that we have a one currency system like other countries because as long as we have more than one currency, this madness will always be with us. Government announced that it will be conducting evidence-based research within seven days with the ultimate goal of ensuring that consumers continue to access basic commodities at affordable prices.
The research was carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in collaboration with the National Competitiveness Commission, Competition and Tariff Commission and the Consumer Protection Commission and other relevant stakeholders.
The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa while presenting her post-Cabinet meeting report said Government noted that consumers are being forced to buy goods that they don’t need in formal retail outlets when they pay using USD so that they may offset the change balance.
This is because the retail outlets, are refusing to mix USD and Z$ transactions.
From the survey undertaken, most basic commodities are generally available both in formal and informal retail shops, although there are artificial shortages observed of some locally produced goods, especially in formal retail shops, prices in the formal retail sector are relatively high in both USD and ZWL terms when compared to the informal retail sector and are thus indicative of speculative and forward pricing.
President Mnangagwa expressed his disappointment at the abuse of the Government’s benevolence to go against internationally set standards of making it mandatory for businesses to remit their foreign currency earnings to the Central Bank.
“Let me remind our business of a few facts, some echoed in all jurisdictions globally. At law and by worldwide practice, all foreign currency earnings should be surrendered to Government through the Central Bank as obtained worldwide,”
President Mnangagwa said worldwide businesses access foreign currency for their needs from Central Bank through cumbersome processes and on the basis of market conditions.
“Here we have waived that position at law and in general practice worldwide, hoping to prop our business sector and for ease of doing business. This act of magnanimity now looks undeserved,” the president said.
Zimbabwe is a multi-currency economy after a deliberate Government decision but the position is now being contradicted by business.
“Any business practice, which suppresses the use of any one currency recognised by our laws is illegal and do undermine this unique and most favourable position, which is found nowhere else in the world. The offence gets worse when these illegal practices seek to outlaw the use of the local currency unit, itself our national currency and currency of wage earnings.
To those who do not see where this madness is coming from. By having multi-currency, the Captains of the industry have the capacity to control foreign currency and thus cause shortages and speculations. It is not far-fetched to say the problems we have now are being caused by the business environment. Businesses are taking advantage of this opportunity to create jobs and companies and use it for their benefit against the nation.
They are biting the very hand which feeds them.
By- The ever-travelling Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa has left Harare for Accra, Ghana, for the 30th African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) annual meetings.
The Afreximbank meeting, usually attended by Finance ministers, runs under the theme: “Delivering the Vision, Building Prosperity for Africans” and will seek solutions to development challenges on the continent and the Caribbean.
The bank wants to construct its regional office in Harare.
By A Correspondent | On one side she was a shining British solicitor with piles of media and professional awards, an impeccable career, and the sweetest voice when speaking, often using soothing Biblical phrases, but on another hand, she was really communicating a “can’t-touch-me,” macho personality that violently defeated every person disputing with her to the point of making them desire to die, literally – The UK based Qoki Zindlovukazi (fake farm properties) lawyer, award winning solicitor, celebrated millionaire and director of the Property Pro World company, Julian Condliffe has been found liable in a major case now concluded at the courts in Birmingham, that developed from a ZimEye news special investigation back in 2020.
Julian, known as Julie Condliffe, was running her latest property investment program in which clients would never receive their title deeds years after promising them that she is blessing or empowering them, using social media websites, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to make self mentor over scores of homeseekers.
The latest court win of a whopping GBP56,000 is one of many others, in which three other clients reportedly committed suicide, distressed after discovering that they have been deceived. In the latest case, Julie Condliffe’s communication technique and its contents dilligently audited by ZimEye, she had cruelly told one of her suicidal clients, a Zimbabwean woman known on social media as “anon,” that her investment has disappeared and the only guarantee she now has in life is death. This diabolic message the solicitor communicated in a neatly edited psychotic video file uploaded to the YouTube website.
In this case in which the three abused clients are represented by Manchester based Irvine Yates Solicitors, Pawel, Tracy and Ilona, are nurses and one of them was involved in a Facebook group that later got linked with Julie Condliffe where the services the Director of Property Pro World provided were non regulated, being advice on how to make money with properties.
At some point, one of the complainants had a conversation with the other two. Julie Condliffe was running a syndicate, that is, a system of a group that takes rounds to parcel out an interest-free loan. These schemes work when everyone contributes. But what Julie was doing was putting in people in a disruptive way before the end of a cycle to the prejudice of others.
One of the claimants wanted a property, and Julie put in money from her share in the syndicate.
Julie sold a property that she already owned. She said to the group that the legals had to be done by her. But then she was now getting into regulated work; As a lawyer, she can not do that, according to practice, which dictates that this must not be done while one is not attached to a law firm.
She began misleading the claimants that she had transferred the property into their names.
Julie’s submission to the court is that the claimants had abandoned the property. The difficulty came in that Pawel (the trio’s representative) was told different things, which led to no deeds being transferred.
Everything came to nothing. By the time they had concluded, Julie had put in a wholly inadequate defence and a counterclaim that was equal to the trio’s claim.
The trio’s solicitor, Kate at Irvine Yates, tells ZimEye of the first court win:
“We got a conditional order in that we must pay court costs up to 7k.
“When I got the documents… the registered address of Property Pro World was the latest one, which proved that she had supplied fraudulent documents,” a development which means criminal liability against the violator.
A background check on her latest office address reveals that it is used by some of the most notorious fraudsters in Europe.
The other side later accepted a part 37 offer, GBP30,999, and the final total figure shot up to GBP56,000, with costs. The Respondents later made an interim payment and worked to settle most of the claim by the time of the final hearing at Birmingham County Court.
The breakthrough is being explained on Sunday by the heroic solicitors as victims celebrate in West Midlands.
Meanwhile, after ZimEye exposed Julie Condliffe in a series of investigative articles in April to May 2020, she quickly removed herself as director of her company, Property Pro World, 2 months later and appointed a close relative.

By- The Nelson Chamisa-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) held its last candidates’ selection process at the weekend.
The CCC did not hold any primary elections but was piloting what it says is a citizen caucus process where ordinary people are given a chance to select their aspiring candidates.
The run-up to yesterday’s candidate selection process was heated, with Harare East legislator Tendai Biti locked in a fierce battle with Harare North MP Allan Markham.
The results of the nominations are yet to be announced.
This publication heard that some Zanu PF activists attempted to disrupt the CCC candidate selection process ahead of the nomination court sitting on Wednesday.
There were also reports of bussing of people by some aspiring candidates, a few days after party leader, Nelson Chamisa, condemned the practice and warned that culprits would be disqualified.
CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere told The Standard yesterday evening that the party’s candidate selection process went smoothly.
“We saw an overwhelming turnout of citizens and every one of the caucuses was conducted in peace,” Mahere said.
“The citizens’ voices were heard. Reports will be furnished to the Citizens’ Independent Selection Panel in due course.”
Mahere said the panel would collate information from nomination stakeholder consultation and community consensus before announcing the eventual winners.
“We have succeeded in creating a platform for communities to hear from their potential candidates and make their voices heard,” she said.
“We are well on course to ensuring we have a dream team of citizen representatives who will usher in competent, ethical leaders, led by (CCC leader Nelson) Chamisa and who will put the citizens first.”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is seeking a second term, has announced August 23 as the election date.
Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF will officially launch its campaign this week.
Zanu PF chose its candidates through chaotic primary elections coordinated by the Central Intelligence Organisation and the army.
Nomination courts will sit on Wednesday across the country to consider names of aspiring MPs and councillors.
In Harare, the nomination court will consider names of presidential candidates.
Mnangagwa and Chamisa are considered front runners for the presidency after the closely contested 2018 polls where the Zanu PF leader narrowly came out victorious.
Chamisa rejected the results saying his rival worked with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to rig the polls that came eight months after the military toppled long time ruler Robert Mugabe in a coup.

Mucheche died on Wednesday after a long illness at his Beatrice Farm. He was 96.
He left behind six wives and 28 children.
In a condolence message to the Mucheche family, Mnangagwa said Mucheche was a self-made indigenous businessman who rose to fame against a racially structured system. He said:
The late Cde Ben Mucheche is synonymous with an inspiring generation of self-made indigenous businessmen and women who rose to fame against all odds in colonial Rhodesia.
From very humble beginnings, the late Cde Mucheche beat all bottlenecks placed in the way of enterprising blacks, to break into the racially structured transport and farming business.
Beginning with a single vehicle, Cde Mucheche persevered until he built a large fleet of taxis before venturing into the large passenger transport business for which he became known right through to our Independence.
A civic leader and a tried and tested nationalist, the late Cde Mucheche used his position and his hard-earned resources to support the nationalist movement right from its early, formative days in the late 1950s.
As we mourn Cde Mucheche’s painful demise, we remember especially the salutary role he played in sowing seeds for black economic empowerment by co-founding the Indigenous Business Development Centre (IBDC) alongside leading businessmen and women like the late Paul Mukondo, John Mapondera, Strive Masiyiwa, late Roger Boka, Enock Kamushinda and Mrs Jane Mutasa.
Mucheche was born on 31 March 1927 at Chishawasha Mission in Goromonzi. He later moved to Salisbury (now Harare) in search of employment and worked as a schoolteacher.

Cross-border travelers in Africa generally face high internet and mobile roaming tariffs .Mercy Kachere is a Malawian businesswoman who traverses Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
The move to scrap roaming charges will mean she can stay in touch with her family in Lilongwe while on business trips.
“This is good news to any citizen from these countries. As a business lady, I travel a lot to these countries to procure different goods for my stationery and textile retail shops in my home country Malawi,” Kachere told DW.
She had come to consider high roaming costs another fixed overhead expenditure.
“I have been subjected to interrupted phone conversations with my family members each time I travel because of the high costs that mobile phone companies charge on mere phone and voice calls, including roaming service,” Kachere said.
“My only request is that it spreads across Africa if communication on the continent is to improve as it affects many business operators.”

The sexual assault case against Chiefs Council president Chief Fortune Charumbira has taken a new twist with claims that a deep-seated family feud and a protracted chieftainship wrangle could be behind the whole saga.
The matter in which Charumbira, who is also the president of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), is accused of indecently assaulting a married woman who is said to be his niece, is yet to go before the courts but has been reported to the police in Masvingo.
A group of family members and relatives of the embattled chief has come together in his defence citing family history, the chief’s relation to the alleged victim and various ‘inconsistencies’ in the allegations.
They have penned a document which they say would be filed with the police.
In the document that has been leaked to StandardPeople, the family says they had investigated events surrounding the incident that resulted in charges being laid against Charumbira.
They said indications were that this was “a calculated political attack meant to destroy his career as president of the Chief’s Council and also an onslaught to force him to relinquish his post at the continental legislative body.”
The family also raised issues with the relationship between the chief and his alleged victim who is said to be his brother’s daughter.
“Charumbira’s accuser is a distant fifth generation questionable niece and there are murky family roots between the pair,” the document reads.
“The relationship between the pair cannot be traced to the great Charumbira progenitors, Mudavanhu and Chainda who are widely known to be the great ancestors of the Sipambi clan with Chief Charumbira being the two progenitors’ direct descendant.”
The document makes allegations to the effect that the victim’s family is working with a prominent South African businesswoman and a former MP in Botswana (name withheld) to topple Charumbira from his post at PAP using the alleged sexual assault case.
The businesswoman is said to have engaged a South Africa-based gender violence lobby group, Kwanele Foundation to stage a demonstration denouncing Charumbira at the PAP headquarters in Midrand, South Africa last month but it flopped.
“They wanted to replace Charumbira with one of the four PAP vice presidents, (name supplied), who is also a close ally of the SA businesswoman,” the document added.
“We have information that the victim’s family has created a WhatsApp group titled ‘’Sky Media 206’’ and has also created a fake twitter account to coordinate the hysteric attacks against Charumbira.”
The document further alleges that before the reported sexual assault incident in March, there had been another sting operation in February.
It involved an unnamed woman in Masvingo who had been approached by Charumbira’s rivals to make sexual advances to him and to take his nude pictures in return for a house and a car.
“It has emerged that these are the same people who, after failing in their initial attempt, engineered this recent sexual assault case.
“Her (the victim’s) father was at one time a campaign manager of one of Charumbira’s known political nemesis in Masvingo West and that does not escape us as a possible motive to destroy the chief,” the document reads.
“The father is also involved in the chieftainship wrangles pitting Charumbira and his foes that are out to dethrone him.
“The victim’s mother (name withheld), a school headmistress also in Masvingo Province, has been very inactive in the case, a situation that raises eyebrows.”
The family said they were aware that the plot to destroy Charumbira continued to thicken with reports that the victim was being pushed to petition the Chiefs Council in a fresh bid to jettison the council president from office.

Peter Dube, a car dealer from Gweru, Zimbabwe, has been arrested in Ireland by gardaí (police force in the Republic of Ireland) for allegedly murdering three people in 2021 and fleeing the country.
He has already appeared before the courts in Ireland and has been remanded in custody.
The authorities in Zimbabwe have been in contact with Interpol and An Garda Siochana to locate him and seek his extradition back to Zimbabwe to face trial there.
Dube is accused of shooting his second wife’s suspected lover, Shelton Chinhango, and her best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe, in Gweru’s central business district.
He also allegedly shot his second wife and her sister, Nyaradzo, who later died in the hospital.
The authorities in Zimbabwe want him to stand trial on those charges. The man is also facing unrelated, minor charges in Ireland, according to TheIrishTimes.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that Dube had left the country and was living in Eswatini under the alias Xolile Mtsali before relocating to Ireland, where he sought asylum.
An Interpol Red Notice was issued for his arrest and extradition to Zimbabwe.
Garda Headquarters in Dublin confirmed the man’s arrest and remand in custody but declined to comment further due to the ongoing court case.

Former State Security Minister Owen Ncube has warned MPs who lost in the ZANU PF primaries not to contest as independent candidates in the upcoming general elections.
ZANU PF held its primary elections in March, during which some party heavyweights lost their tickets to represent the party in the August 23 polls.
Despite reports of bhora musango threats and dissatisfaction over candidate imposition and rigging, Ncube described running as an independent candidate as “anti-revolutionary” and urged those who lost in the primaries not to do so.
He emphasised that ZANU PF does not vote for independent candidates and that standing as one makes individuals enemies of the party and the revolution.
Addressing ex-combatants in Redcliff recently, Mudha as Ncube is widely known in political circles, said people who lost in primary elections should not run as independent candidates.
“We don’t have that kind of language in Zanu PF.
“In Zanu PF we don’t vote for an independent candidate, if you are now contesting as an independent candidate it simply means you are now anti-revolutionary.
“We will not vote for you. Don’t use our party name to stand as an independent. the moment you stand as an independent candidate you are now an enemy of Zanu PF, you are an enemy of the revolution.
“There is no Zanu PF person who will vote for anyone who will contest as an independent candidate,” said Ncube.
During the ZANU PF primaries held in March, prominent individuals such as Philip Chiyangwa, Ziyambi Ziyambi, Sekai Nzenza, Justice Mayor Wadyajena, Joseph Chinotimba, and Mary Mliswa-Chikoka lost their bid to represent the party in the upcoming general elections.
However, Ncube, who is the parliamentarian for Gokwe Kana, was able to obtain his party’s endorsement without any opposition during the internal elections.

Fugitive businessman Peter Dube, wanted for multiple charges including murder and immigration violations, has been apprehended in Ireland.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police obtained an international arrest warrant, and Dube now faces extradition. After allegedly committing the murders, he fled to South Africa, assumed a new identity, and eventually ended up in Ireland. An investigation by the Irish police, known as An Garda Síochána, followed a newspaper article exposing Dube’s use of a false name to obtain asylum. Dube has appeared in court in Ireland.
“A male in his late 30s was arrested on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, for alleged offences, contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act of 2001. The male has appeared before the district court and is currently remanded in custody. As the male is currently before the court, An Garda Síochána has no further comment at this time.”
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has since initiated legal proceedings to extradite the suspect.
NPA head of the international co-operation and anti-terrorism unit Mr Clement Chimbare yesterday confirmed that a provisional arrest warrant had been issued against Dube. ZRP is now expected to transmit the warrant to Ireland’s law-enforcement authorities through the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
Dube had been placed on Interpol’s Red Notice, a request to law-enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition. Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police were waiting for the extradition process to take place.
It is alleged that on April 23, 2021, Dube, who was a car dealer, approached his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo, and her suspected lover Shelton Chinhango — also a car dealer — who was seated in a minibus parked outside a flat in Gweru’s central business district, where she lived. He fatally shot Chinhango at close range and turned the gun on his second wife’s best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe, whom he shot in the chest. She died instantly.
He went on to shoot Nyasha and her sister Nyaradzo.
The two sisters were rushed to hospital, where Nyaradzo died on admission. It is believed Dube and Nyasha had a long-standing dispute, with the former convinced that she was involved in an adulterous affair.
Earlier investigations by our Bureau indicated that five months after the shootings, Dube allegedly changed his identity and acquired a passport (A09465267) in Eswatini on October 28, 2021. He later used the passport to move to Ireland, where he applied for asylum, before being accommodated at Red Cow Moran Hotel in Dublin. The fugitive also later assisted his wife, Nomatter Chawana, and children to acquire new identities. His luck, however, ran out on Wednesday last week, when he was taken into custody by police.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged the young generation to harness innovations to propel the country’s industrial growth.
He was speaking at the official opening of the 31st Junior Parliament in Harare this Friday.
Following in the footsteps of the August House, the young legislators conduct their business in the Junior Parliament which has representatives from the country’s 10 provinces.
This was showcased during the official opening of the Junior Parliament led by the newly elected Child President, Neville Mavu at the City Sports Centre in Harare this Friday.
The day coincided with commemorations to mark the Day of the African Child celebrated on the 16th of June each year in honour of young lives lost in the Soweto uprising of 1976 in South Africa.
President Mnangagwa took the opportunity to spell out the government’s expectations for the youth dividend where learners are expected to provide the needs of industry through the heritage based 5.0 model.
“It is folly for a nation to aspire to have things they do not produce. If you want a good house you must build it. We want to ensure when you leave university you must say I am fit to serve the growth of the country,” said the President.
He also stressed the need for young people to be proud of their origins.
“The development you see in the 1st world was done by their young people. People your age in Japan are Japanese so you also here in Zimbabwe must know you’re Zimbabweans.”
With drug and substance abuse affecting young people, President Mnangagwa said the Junior Parliament must play a leading role in dealing with the scourge.
“Drug and substance abuse continues to hound our young people. You must take a leading role in fighting this,” he said.
President Mnangagwa further noted the government’s commitment to uplifting the lives of young people, describing them as the backbone and future of the country.
The President also said the government will continue to work with development partners, particularly those with a mandate to support child protection, education and skills development.
“In fulfilling our commitment under the United Nations Suaga Development Cooperation Framework, the government will continue to collaborate with development partners, this cooperation should be in line with government priorities and respect our culture and values,” he said.
Attention was also drawn to the benefits of the digital age.
“The digital environment also opens new avenues for children with disabilities to engage in social relations with their peers, access to information and participate in public decision-making processes.”

Masvingo Assistant Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Lorraine Ndlovu confirmed the matter to The Mirror.
She said Owen Mabwe (38) of Zimuto Street in Mucheke was stabbed around 11:30 pm by a man only identified as Chitsano.
Ndlovu said Police have since launched a manhunt for Chitsano.

In low-and middle-income countries, there is limited access to these preventative measures and cervical cancer is often not identified until it has further advanced and symptoms develop. In addition, access to treatment of cancerous lesions (for example, cancer surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) may be limited, resulting in a higher rate of death from cervical cancer in these countries.
The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally (age standardized rate among women: 13.3/100 000 in 2020) could be reduced by effective interventions at different stages of life.
HPV and cervical cancer
A large majority of cervical cancer (more than 95%) is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).
HPV is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives, and some may be repeatedly infected. More than 90% of the infected populations eventually clear the infection.
Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to HPV infection.
Although most HPV infections clear up on their own and most pre-cancerous lesions resolve spontaneously, there is a risk for all women that HPV infection may become chronic and pre-cancerous lesions progress to invasive cervical cancer.
It takes 15 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop in women with normal immune systems. It can take only 5 to 10 years in women with weakened immune systems, such as those with untreated HIV infection.
Cervical cancer control: a comprehensive approach
The Global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2020, recommends a comprehensive approach to cervical cancer prevention and control. The recommended actions include interventions across the life course.

By A Correspondent| In a recent development, Reverend Kenneth Mtata, a prominent clergyman, has strongly criticized the founder of United Family International Church (UFIC), Emmanuel Makandiwa, for his controversial statement claiming to be more gifted than God.
Reverend Mtata responded to Makandiwa’s assertion by citing a biblical verse and emphasizing the omnipotence of God.
Makandiwa’s remarks, made in a video that surfaced online, have caused a significant uproar among the people of Zimbabwe.
The religious leader’s statement suggesting that he possesses greater gifts than God drew swift condemnation from various quarters, including Reverend Mtata.
In his response, Reverend Mtata highlighted the immeasurable nature of God’s gifts by referencing a passage from the book of 1 Chronicles 16:11-12.
Quoting the verses, he stated, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Makandiwa’s video stirred anger and disappointment among Zimbabweans, as it challenged the core tenets of their faith and called into question the authority and supremacy of God.
