ZRP Cornered To Dismantle Illegal Bus Rank In Harare

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has undertaken to dismantle a chaotic and illegal bus rank in Harare and bring sanity and order following a complaint lodged by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).

ZRP assured ZLHR that it is working towards bringing sanity and order by deploying some traffic enforcement officers to arrest all law breaking people including touts and operators of pirate taxis commonly known as “mushika shika”, who have become a menace at the illegal bus rank located along Sam Nujoma Street in Harare’s Avenues area.

ZRP’s undertaking came after Paidamoyo Saurombe of ZLHR wrote a letter of complaint to ZRP Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga complaining about the reluctance and failure by law enforcements agents to enforce the law and remove the illegal bus rank from the Avenues area.

In his letter, Saurombe had warned that ZRP’s failure to enforce the law and remove the illegal bus rank would leave him with no option but to seek a court order to compel ZRP to perform its constitutional duties.

Saurombe had stated that ZLHR had noted some accidents which had become a common occurrence at the illegal bus rank and which had left people injured.

In his response Chief Staffing Officer responsible for operations, only identified as Commissioner Tayengwa told Saurombe that the Officer Commanding ZRP Harare Province, only identified as Commissioner Tembo will collaborate with City of Harare and deploy traffic enforcement officers to arrest the menace at the illegal bus rank.

Zhombe Man Attacked, Left For Dead

A Zhombe man is battling for life in hospital after being attacked by three assailants in a revenge attack.

Joshua Zigandiwa (24) of Village Kasekerere under Chief Ntabeni was reportedly beaten to a pulp by three men after a misunderstanding over an issue that “occurred long ago” ensued during a beer drinking spree at Ngigeni Business Centre in Zhombe.

Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the misunderstanding arose between Zingandiwa and Mthabisi Matengambiri (18) of Village Sindi over a long-standing grudge.

Matengambiri resultedly struck Zigandiwa with an axe once on the cheek before handing the axe to Lungisani Ndlovu (18) who also struck Zigandiwa on the back of the head.

As if that was not enough, another member of the gang, Thulani Siwela (20), also took an empty bottle and struck the complainant once on the head resulting in him falling unconscious.

Police officers who were on patrol came to Zigandiwa’s rescue and apprehended the three suspects and helped rush the complainant to hospital where he is said to be battling for life.

Investigations are in progress.

LEAKED AUDIO- Chiyangwa Accuses Another Of His Own Kids Of Theft

By A Correspondent | Businessman and ZANU PF MP Phillip Chiyangwa has released an audio of him accusing another of his own children of theft.

Edmund becomes the third to be accused by the dad of property theft.

The “Apa Hauna Cash” sociallite who’s the founder of the black empowerment, Affirmative Action cult, is heard screaming at his son, “You’ve never contributed to this wealth… otherwise there is a war that’s coming on you today.”

Chiyangwa even uses uprintable insults on his son who pleads with him saying, ‘please stop cursing me. ‘

Chiyangwa does not relent, and continues to accuse his son of fraud. Why did you steal my property?, Fidza, as he is affectionately known asks.

“You are the one who groomed me!,” replies Edmund.

Towards the end, Chiyangwa says his son should have gone to South Africa and disappeared there.

Manhunt For Fraudsters

By A Correspondent- Police have launched a manhunt for two suspected fraudsters who allegedly defrauded 70 people of approximately US$300 000.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Andy Baleni (aka Mambo Ndini) and Tinashe Zimunya used social media and radio stations to advertise cement which they said was on special offer.

Prospective customers were asked to pay for the cement with promises that the consignment would be delivered within seven days. Said Asst Comm Nyathi:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with fraud cases involving the purported sale of cement “on special offer” to unsuspecting members of the public through advertisements on social media and radio stations by a company known as Koffie and King Hardware allegedly situated at 10 Mbuya Nehanda Street, Harare.

The suspects, Andy Baleni also known as Mambo Ndini whose last known address is Flat 3 Glen Lorne, Chishawasha, Harare and Tinashe Zimunya advertised cement on radio and social media platforms at very low prices and alleged special offers thereby luring the unsuspecting transacting public.

Delivery of the purported cement was said to be done within seven (7) days after payment for the consignment.

Resultantly, more than seventy (70) victims fell for the scam and were defrauded approximately USD$300 000-00.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is now appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons.

We continue to implore members of the public to exercise due diligence before making any payments as this scam is now pointing fingers at the possibility of a pyramid scheme through the alleged sale of cement.

Arguably, thousands of Zimbabweans have fallen victim to fraudsters over the years. Here are some ways to identify a fraudster:

  • Fraudsters may exhibit unusual or suspicious behavior, such as being evasive or avoiding direct questions.
  • Fraudsters may create a sense of urgency and pressure to act quickly without giving you time to think or do proper research.
  • Fraudsters may demand payment or financial information before providing goods or services.

“Will CCC partake in 2023 WITHOUT verified voters’ roll?” Cut out bull, ‘Yes out of greed!’ Chamisa answered.

By Wilbert Mukori-  Nelson Chamisa was finally cornered and nailed down on why CCC is participating in these elections without even something as basic as a verified voters’ roll!

Quizzed on the course of action the opposition intends to take should ZEC continue to hold on to the voter’s roll as has been witnessed lately, Chamisa said: “ZEC is a servant institution of the citizens. It is a citizens’ institution. It is a national and a citizens’ institution. Citizens are the ultimate authority and authors of the Republic. They are the owners of the Republic,” reported New Zimbabwe.

“Power resides in the citizens. Legislative, judicial, and even executive. All power is vested in the citizens. So legitimately citizens are demanding that all national processes be done in a particular way. There is no debate about that. That is non-negotiable”.

Further challenged to divulge details on whether CCC will partake in “shoddy elections” conducted without a voter’s roll, the CCC leader said there is no room for ZEC to lower the standard.

“ZEC has no option but to adhere to acceptable national and global standards for free and fair elections. These elections are national so there is no room for any variation or lowering of the standard. It’s not up for debate. It is the citizens who ultimately determine the quality, calibre, standard and nature of the election,” he added.

There is room for CCC to lower the standards by participating in the elections knowing fully well they are flawed and that participating will give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. MDC/CCC has been participating in these shoddy elections out of greed.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Indeed, the participating in these flawed elections, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw” should not come as a surprise to anyone who had been following Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends’ political performance. The MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms which would have freed ZEC and other state institutions to carry out their democratic duties of delivering free, fair and credible elections. They failed to implement even one meaningful reform in five years. Not one!

SADC, the regional body that had forced Robert Mugabe to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement, agreeing to the need to implement the raft of democratic reforms, wanted the 2013 elections postponed to allow reforms to be implemented, a point Coltart was referred to in the above quotation.

“If you go into the elections next month, you will lose. The elections are done!” SADC leaders had warned Tsvangirai and his MDC friends to their faces.

It was a chance for the MDC leaders to redeem themselves for the having failed to implement the reforms during the GNU. They did not heed the warning for the same reason they had failed to implement the reforms during the GNU – greed.

Ever since the GNU debacle, Zanu PF has ignored demands to implement reforms to ensure elections are free and fair elections confident MDC/CCC will participate in the elections to give the process credibility and legitimacy, just as Coltart stated above. Why indeed, would Zanu PF risk losing power by implementing even a token reform when the party is assured of the opposition’s participation NO MATTER HOW FLAWED THE PROCESS GOT!

Chamisa and company are participating in these 2023 elections WITHOUT a verified voters’ roll; they have participated in the past with no verified voters’ roll out of greed, they are still as greed as ever and therefore they will participate this year guaranteed!

Zimbabwe is in deep, deep trouble; we are failed state. Betrayed by the Mafiosi Zanu PF thugs who are rigging these 2023 elections, betrayed by the sell-outs CCC who are participating in these flawed elections out of greed and betrayed by SADC leaders who are endorsing the rigged elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of callous indifference!

Zimbabweans are not doing themselves any favours by participating in these flawed elections by foolishly believing in MDC/CCC’s idiotic winning in rigged elections strategies. CCC’s flagship “mass voter registration, mass voting and protecting the vote” strategy is dead in the water. As of 30 May 2022 only ¼ million had registered to vote, according to ZEC’s own report. This constituted 4% of CCC’s 6 million new voters!

Democracy, people’s power, works only when the people are informed and diligent. So far, we, Zimbabweans, have been a naïve and gullible lot. Mnangagwa and his Mafiosi cronies are blundering buffoons and hence the reason the country is in such a mess; it will not take much to outwit these thugs, if only we would apply ourselves!

Mnangagwa Was A Rhodesian Mercenary Age Adjusted By Smith To Qualify for Jail Pardon

By Baba Jukwa | President Emmerson Mnangagwa has failed to respond to a live report that he was a double agent for Ian Smith’s Rhodesian Front, as published by Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) sources, and also by respected Zimbabwean war veterans. The serious allegations, if true, would represent a significant breach of trust between Mnangagwa and the people of Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa’s fake pardon, under the guise that he was too young at the time of commision of a train vandalism offence; forged birth certificates, all indicate, after his age was dropped to 17, he was sponsored to go to Zambia and later Mozambique to sabotage the liberation struggle.

Mnangagwa has so far admitted on video that contrary to reports that he worked as a lawyer in Zambia before joining the war effort in 1977, he has not done any formal work at all since 1960- 2023.

Mr. Mnangagwa is still to respond to other live allegations since they were sounded out at a heated press conference in Harare in 2019 by respected war veterans who exposed him as a johnny come late who gatecrashed into leadership.

Said war veteran, Karen Kazingizi:

“So I want to know these comrades who go around cutting voters’ hands, to find out: are they real comrades, or they are Mugabe’s people he took from Ian Smith’s mercenaries? ….

“The same people he now gives the war vet badge, which soils our image..

“So that’s one other thing we are working on our identity. We are not trying to be these ugly people that the whole nation now thinks we are. Did you ever see us? They put this type of a picture in front of you, of a personality cult who you must worship. The Phillip Chiyangwa type we did not have them at all during the war, the Chiyangwas, they are the richest of them. Can you show me one comrade that you know who went into government in 1980, who was trained like us? Even those who were the seniors, like Muzenda where are they?,” she asked.

Emmerson Mnangagwa is one of them (a male journalist vet quipped in suggesting), to which Kazingizi said,

“Comrade Emmerson came out of prison, according to the history I know; after coming out of prison, he went over to study law, isn’t it?

“After studying law, he was also recruited by Robert Mugabe, to replace those who were fighting the war.

“When the war finished, when Mugabe had ended the war, the people who had elected him to lead them from the Mgagao Declaration, he had chopped them all off, all of them the Gamatox and other factions without number. He kicked all of them out accusing them of betraying the struggle. You know, we don’t want to end up telling the truth, but I think the youth deserve to know the truth.”

Meanwhile, the CIA allegations stem from Mnangagwa’s past business dealings, including a joint venture with a man who was involved in bombings in Mozambique. Additionally, his relationships with white partners who have been accused of exploiting Zimbabwean resources have raised concerns.

While these allegations have not been proven and everyone is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, they do raise important questions about Mnangagwa’s past and his relationships with various groups. It is imperative that these allegations are thoroughly investigated in order to determine the truth.

If Mnangagwa is found to be a double agent, it would represent a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the people of Zimbabwe. As a former hero of the liberation struggle, his alleged involvement with the Rhodesian Front would be particularly distressing for those who fought for Zimbabwe’s independence.

However, if Mnangagwa is found to be innocent, it would be unfair to continue to tarnish his reputation based on unproven allegations. In either case, it is essential that justice is served and that the people of Zimbabwe are able to move forward with leaders who they can trust to work in their best interests.

It is important to remember that allegations such as these can have serious consequences and that they should be treated with the utmost care and attention. In order for Zimbabwe to move forward and continue on its path towards progress, it is necessary for these allegations to be resolved through a fair and transparent process.

Ultimately, the goal should be to ensure that the people of Zimbabwe are able to have confidence in their leaders and that the country can continue to move forward towards a brighter future.

Rodrygo Shines

Real Madrid, as usual, are marching on in the UEFA Champions League.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team won 2-0 at Chelsea on Tuesday in the quarterfinal second leg to easily advance, 4-0 on aggregate.

Rodyrgo, last season’s semifinal hero against Manchester City, scored twice in this one to set up a likely semifinal against Pep Guardiola and company. City face Bayern Munich on Wednesday, already leading 3-0.

While Karim Benzema wasn’t at his best, he didn’t need to be as space on the wings gave Real the room to exploit, and exploit it they did in another impressive road display. – CBS

USD3K Pain Killers Stolen

A 23-year-old Harare man has appeared in court on allegations of teaming up with his two accomplices to defraud a drug supplier of pain killer tablets worth US$3000.

Simbarashe Kaminga was facing fraud charges when he appeared before a Harare magistrate.

The State opposed bail on grounds that Kaminga was a flight risk.

The matter was deferred tomorrow for bail ruling.

The court heard that on November 30, 2022 at around mid-day at a hardware store in Msasa, Harare, Kaminga, with his accomplices Daniel Mark Austen and Nyasha Mutasa acted in connivance to defraud the complainant.

Kaminga communicated with complainant’s friend Patience Hanyani over the phone and told her that he had clients who wanted to buy some Pain Eeze tablets.

Hanyani then referred one of the accused to the complainant since she had no money to purchase the Pain Eeze tablets.

On the same day, the complainant, Elenera Chimoyo, in the company of Dorcas Shanhiwa drove to a hardware store in Msasa, Harare whilst carrying 70 boxes x 120 Pain Eeze tablets where they would meet the now accused.

It is the State’s case that upon arrival at the hardware store in Msasa, Chimoyo met Austen, and led her and Shonhiwa to where they had parked their vehicle behind a hardware premises.

The court heard that Austen and Kaminga, who was on the driver’s seat of the silver Mercedes Benz received 70 boxes x 120 Pain Eeze which were put in the boot. Afterwards, accused One got into a white Honda Fit belonging to Mutasa, who was behind the wheel on the pretext that he was getting cash to pay the complainant.

It is alleged that Austen and Mutasa immediately started the vehicle and drove away at high speed.

Kaminga also allegedly drove away at high speed following the white Honda Fit, leaving complainant and her friend stranded.

Later on, the complainant proceeded to ZRP Rhodesville and filed a report.

On January 4, Austen was arrested and he implicated Mutasa. On January 6, both parties were taken to court where Mutasa implicated Kaminga.- state media

About Cervical Cancer

Key facts

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally, with an estimated 604 000 new cases and 342 000 deaths in 2020.

About 90% of the new cases and deaths worldwide in 2020 occurred in low- and middle-income countries (1).

Two human papillomavirus (HPV) types (16 and 18) are responsible for nearly 50% of high grade cervical pre-cancers
HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity. More than 90% of them clear the infection eventually.

Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.

Vaccination against HPV and screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions is a cost-effective way to prevent cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly.

Comprehensive cervical cancer control includes primary prevention (vaccination against HPV), secondary prevention (screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions), tertiary prevention (diagnosis and treatment of invasive cervical cancer) and palliative care.

Overview

Worldwide, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women with an estimated 604 000 new cases in 2020. Of the estimated 342 000 deaths from cervical cancer in 2020, about 90% of these occur in low- and middle-income countries. Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV, and an estimated 5% of all cervical cancer cases are attributable to HIV (2). Moreover, in all world regions the contribution of HIV to cervical cancer falls disproportionately on younger women.

In high-income countries, programmes are in place which enable girls to be vaccinated against HPV and women to get screened regularly and treated adequately. Screening allows pre-cancerous lesions to be identified at stages when they can easily be treated.

In low-and middle-income countries, there is limited access to these preventative measures and cervical cancer is often not identified until it has further advanced and symptoms develop. In addition, access to treatment of cancerous lesions (for example, cancer surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) may be limited, resulting in a higher rate of death from cervical cancer in these countries.

The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally (age standardized rate among women: 13.3/100 000 in 2020) could be reduced by effective interventions at different stages of life.

HPV and cervical cancer
A large majority of cervical cancer (more than 95%) is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives, and some may be repeatedly infected. More than 90% of the infected populations eventually clear the infection.

Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to HPV infection.

Although most HPV infections clear up on their own and most pre-cancerous lesions resolve spontaneously, there is a risk for all women that HPV infection may become chronic and pre-cancerous lesions progress to invasive cervical cancer.

It takes 15 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop in women with normal immune systems. It can take only 5 to 10 years in women with weakened immune systems, such as those with untreated HIV infection.

Cervical cancer control: a comprehensive approach
The Global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2020, recommends a comprehensive approach to cervical cancer prevention and control. The recommended actions include interventions across the life course.

Doctor Dies

Popular Bulawayo surgeon Dr Kelvin Tendai Kaseke has died.
He was 44.

Dr Kelvin Kaseke

Dr Kaseke died at Avenues Clinic in Harare, where he was seeking medical treatment, after developing an illness.

United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), Acting Clinical Director Dr Harrison Rambanapasi, confirmed his passing.

“He passed on at around midnight. He suffered a short illness, he fell ill about two weeks ago and had to seek treatment. He developed an emergency while he was there, where he was bleeding in the head.

“He also was suffering from hypertension, which likely contributed to his condition. It is unfortunate that he failed to respond to treatment and succumbed to the illness,” said Dr Rambanapasi.

Dr Rambanapasi said the medical fraternity had lost a senior and well-versed surgeon.

“He was a senior surgeon at UBH. He held one of the highest offices in the history of Zimbabwe’s medical history. UBH has lost a brilliant surgeon, his family too. He was a loving and responsible man.

“The greatest blow is on the medical fraternity. I personally worked with him and I gained a lot of knowledge and expertise from him. I must say I am truly gutted by his death,” said Dr Rambanapasi.

He said information on funeral and burial proceedings would be announced by the family.-state media

‘Fraud’ Charged ZANU PF MP Candidate Released On USD150 Bail

Facing charges of fraud of US$500 000, Moses Ruwona, who was eyeing the Makoni West constituency National Assembly seat, and his accomplice, Macmillan Chiweshe, were yesterday granted bail of $300 000 each by Harare regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje.

Mr Mambanje ordered the two to pay $300 000 each, to surrender their passports at the clerk of court, and to report once every Friday at their nearest police stations. The two are facing two counts of fraud and one count of money laundering.

It is alleged that the pair issued fake receipts of payments for the import of WiFi routers and a financial services company that was organising the payment for imports of fabric by a client.

Waltrop (Pvt) Ltd, specialising in commodity broking and represented by director Mr Farai Chikuwa (43), was the first target of the alleged frauds.

Prosecuting, Mr Pardon Dziva said in December last year, Waltrop was awarded a contract by Liquid Telecommunications Holdings of Zimbabwe to supply outdoor wi-fi routers, importing these from Liquid Telecommunication Holdings of Mauritius.

On December 8 last year, Waltrop wanted to pay Liquid of Mauritius for the outdoor WiFi routers.

Ms Chikuwa did so through her brother, Aubrey Chademana who engaged Chiweshe, who undertook to settle the Mauritius payment using his offshore foreign currency account. This was legal.

On the same day, Chiweshe received US$630 400 from Mr Chademana and forwarded it to Ruwona to settle the bill.

Ruwona reportedly provided a fake proof of payment claiming to have transferred the money from his account in Zambia to the Standard Bank account of Liquid of Mauritius. On January 20 and February 3 this year Ruwona and Chiweshe again sent Ms Chikuwa further fake proofs of payment.

On February 15, they sent a proof of payment of US$426 420 and on February 17, they sent a proof of payment of US$203 910.

On March 7, they transferred US$280 332 and US$132 151.24 to Liquid of Mauritius, but failed to account for the remaining US$218 249.

Using the same method, they allegedly defrauded Access Finance of US$256 000 in a deal to import fabric material.

The two companies reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Ruwona and Macmillan two weeks ago.

While Ruwona’s defence team led by Mr Oliver Marwa had sought to characterise the “free funds” arrangement between the complainants and his Tambwari Holdings as money laundering, such transactions are allowed under Statutory Instruments 85 of 2020, and 109 of 1996 which permit individuals and companies to settle obligations using free funds.

In this case, Ruwona was entrusted by Liquid of Zimbabwe and others on the basis of his purported access to such cash earned from his tourism management operations in Victoria Falls and Livingstone, Zambia.

According to the statutory Instruments, the fundamental features of “free funds” include the fact that they are lawfully held by a Zimbabwean, earned in foreign currency, and are not subject to limits and authorisation by exchange control authorities.-state media

Maruwa Disappointed…

Dynamos coach Herbert Maruwa expressed his disappointment after seeing his charges failed to win their first silverware of the season.

Dembare lost 5-4 on penalties to bitter rivals Highlanders in the 2023 Independence Cup final that was played at Mt Darwin High School in Mt Darwin on Tuesday.

The game had ended goalless at full-time with the Harare giants finishing the regulation time with a numerical advantage after Bosso’s Andrew Mbeba received a red card in the first half.

Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Paga, who had come on as second half substitute was the villain for the Glamour Boys as he was the only player to miss his spot kick in the penalty shootout.

The miss saw Highlanders crowned the winners for a successive time.

Speaking after the match, Maruwa said: “They (Highlanders) were a man short, and we needed to pile pressure on them.

“We tried but failed to score the goal which could have made the difference. I am very disappointed.

“It was a good game of football here in Mt Darwin. The people enjoyed watching these two giants trade blows.

“But the disappointing thing is that we failed to win. Our fans wanted us to win and we failed. It’s hurting but football is always like that.”- Soccer24 News

BREAKING: UK Parliament Probes #GoldMafia

Zanu PF Seke District Implodes

ZANU PF Seke District Ward 1 has imploded into several fragments with tens of renegade youths invading and parceling out residential stands belonging to Chinhanga residents and some regularised illegal settlers.

These stands were pegged by Manyame Rural District Council.

A well sophisticated cartel that involves very senior police officers at Chitungwiza Police station and some members of the President’s office at Dema Police station has been sucked in the process.

At the centre of this skirmish is one Courage Gondokondo, a rogue youth rumored to have sold vast tracks of state land in Chinhanga village.

Even his father has applied for a peace order against him.

Gondokondo allegedly gathered hordes of jobless youths intoxicated with Mutoriro and went on a rampage beating up Bona Fide stand owners and stopping any developments.

They claim to have the authority of the aspiring ZANU PF Councilor Tirivangani Chitsvatsva and Dema Presidents office officials as well as the Dispol and officer in-charge of Chitungwiza police station.

In a recent case after their arrest and detention, some party officials aligned to the Chitsvatsva faction allegedly threatened the dispol with unspecified action leading to the release of the culprits.

Even the investigations officers are afraid of going against a directive from their commanders.

In a rather bizarre twist of events Gondokondo teamed up with a number of well-known CCC activists like Martin and Nelson Bhobho, one known as Prosper and gathered for a meeting where they denounced the youth vice chair Neffery Mutizira who has been trying to stop them from degrading the party and stop the invasions.

The meeting was unsanctioned and in a rather show of disrespect of party protocol, Gandokondo is recorded in a video circulating on social media chanting “Pasi naMutizira and Tinashe Mahupeta, the District youth chair.

“They accuse the duo of masterminding their arrest yet it has been discovered that Sabhuku Chinhanga made the report to police.

Manyame Rural District council has tried and failed to control Gondokondo and his collegues.

The police Anti-Corruption Unit is also seized with the matter but no arrest has been made although tens of agreements of sale have been recovered from unsuspecting home-seekers duped by Gondokondo and company.

The ZANU PF Seke District and Provincial leadership is reportedly considering suspending Gondokondo over the matter.

Corruption, Rights Violations Dent Post Independence Zimbabwe: CCC

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has described post independent Zimbabwe as characterised by bad governance which rendered the liberation promise empty as the country marks 43 years of sovereignty.

In a statement, CCC national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the premised prosperity is yet to be seen as the country is currently riddled with scandals of corruption and human rights violations.

“As election day beckons, we are mindful that the 43-year old bad governance crisis has rendered the Liberation promise empty. Our aspirations for Zimbabwe are yet to be realized,” Mahere said.

“The latest corruption expose betrays a sad pattern of a rich nation being poorly managed and looted by political elites at the expense of the citizens.

“Like every other corruption scandal that has preceded it over the last 43 years, it is an indictment on the liberation dream and the promise of independence. This is not the Zimbabwe that the citizens had hoped for.”

Mahere urged the electorate to exercise their constitutional rights and participate in the coming general elections.

“We urge every citizen to ensure that they perform their civic duty by voting en masse in the coming election for ethical, competent leaders who will usher in a New Great Zimbabwe with dignity, prosperity and freedom for all.”

Mahere said CCC acknowledged the role of liberation fighters and the importance of sacrifices that were made to liberate Zimbabwe.

She added: “As a citizens’ movement, the Citizens’ Coalition for Change acknowledges the effort and sacrifices of the soldiers, war veterans, war collaborators and citizens, living and departed, who contributed to attaining the liberation of our nation from colonial rule.

“We acknowledge and respect all national processes that relate to the history and legacy of Zimbabwe as this is the collective definition of our identity as a people.”

CCC leader bemoaned the continued persecution of opposition members in a free Zimbabwe.

“We salute the gallant citizens who fought for our independence. That independence is yet to come. It’s not yet Uhuru. True Independence, a happy and prosperous Zimbabwe for everyone is definitely coming. All citizens, political prisoners, Job Sikhala, must be free,” Chamisa said on Twitter.

Matebeleland Teachers Dragged to Attend #Teachers4ED Meetings

School teachers in Matabeleland say they have been forced to attend what unions feel are Zanu PF indoctrination workshops organised under the partisan #Teachers4ED banner.

The workshops, according to sources, are being facilitated by army officers and Zanu PF officials.

Schools in Insiza district, Matabeleland South were reportedly forced to each provide two teachers while it was also made compulsory for headmasters and their deputies to attend.

The workshop took place at Pangani Training Centre in Filabusi from April 14 to 15.

According to sources, schools were forced to pay an attendance fee of US$25 per teacher while a fee of just US$5 was accepted from those already carrying #Teachers4ED identification cards.

#Teachers4ED, named around President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s initials, is a platform formed by pro-Zanu PF individuals to rally support for the Zimbabwe incumbent’s reelections ambitions.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, one schoolteacher who attended the Filabusi workshop said attendees were taken through Zanu PF ideology and the educators’ role towards organising support for Mnangagwa in elections due not later than August this year.

“We were lectured about party ideology, the Zimbabwe economy, and our role as teachers in the upcoming elections.

“They said we need to influence the general populace to vote for the ruling party.

Is Zim Ready For Polls?

THE Southern African Development Community, (SADC) says Zimbabwe is ready to hold general elections this year, with all the ingredients for peaceful, transparent, and credible elections in place.

Zimbabwe is getting ready for the elections which are expected to be held in either July or August this year, and this has attracted the attention of the region after the SADC Electoral Advisory Council flew into Zimbabwe for a pre-election assessment.

The Advisory Council met SADC diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe to get a better understanding of developments on the ground with the diplomats indicating that Zimbabwe is ready for the elections.

DRC Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Mipwele Michel said, “We have seen that there is security and peace in Zimbabwe that’s why elections can take place without any disturbance.”

“Our position is that elections will take place in a hood manner, free, fair, and Democratic. We had several meetings with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and he assured us that we believe and trust him. To the Zimbabwean people, peaceful and tranquil elections will develop the country,” he said.

Namibia Charge D’ Affairs in Zimbabwe Ms Zemha Gawahas said, “The meeting went very well and SADC Ambassadors were happy to meet SADC EAC. We support the election process in Zimbabwe and together we call and echo the voice of the President of Zimbabwe for peaceful elections.

“We are happy to support the Republic of Zimbabwe during this time. Yes, definitely Zimbabwe is ready for elections, I think all of the structures have been put in place by ZEC and all the stakeholders and it is really an exciting time to have these elections and we stand behind the Republic of Zimbabwe.”

“This is the common hope of SADC, we want peace and tranquillity to prevail, am sure the Second Republic will ensure that there is peace and transparency and most of the ideals of an election will be upheld,” she added.

SADC Electoral Advisory Council Chairperson, Justice Ticheme Dlamini said the meeting was fruitful and is convinced the election will be peaceful after getting assurance from key stakeholders.

Nothing To Celebrate

Zanu PF’s bad governance since independence has rendered the liberation promises empty with the aspirations of Zimbabweans yet to be realised, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has said.
In a statement, to mark the 43rd Independence Day celebrations, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said there was little to celebrate due to the ruling party’s poor leadership.

Mahere said to effect change, citizens must vote for competent leaders who will usher in a new great Zimbabwe with dignity, prosperity and freedom for all.

“Our aspirations for Zimbabwe are yet to be realised. The latest corruption expose betrays a sad pattern of a rich nation being poorly managed and looted by political elites at the expense of the citizens,” said Mahere.

“Like every other corruption scandal that has preceded it over the last 43 years, it is an indictment of the liberation dream and the promise of independence.”

Mahere said they honoured the sacrifices made by those who fought on their behalf for the constitutional entitlement of one man, one vote.

“The liberation struggle was anchored on the fight for free, fair and credible elections. We seek to complete the mission this year to ensure we win Zimbabwe for change for winning the election and taking over,” said Mahere.

“As a citizen’s movement, the CCC acknowledges the effort and sacrifices of the soldiers, war veterans, war collaborations and citizens, living and departed, who contributed to attaining the liberation of our nation from colonial rule.”

Mahere said as a party they respect all national processes that relate to the history and legacy of Zimbabwe.

“Independence day belongs to all Zimbabwean citizens. It is a national event which, in a functional nation ought to be inclusive, and non-partisan and be a moment of pride and celebration for all members of our society. When our forebears took up arms, they were guided by liberation ideals including universal adult suffrage sovereignty of the people and their will as well as shared prosperity for the masses,” she said.

Mahere said for this reason, the movement participates in these platforms, standing on the belief that these are national events, not partisan processes. -CITE

Wiwa Detention: Mnangagwa Under Spotlight

CCC Namibia applauds the PDM President, McHenry Venaani for exhibiting solidarity with Hon Job Sikhala.

17 April 2023

Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia expresses extraordinary gratitude to the organic leader of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), President McHenry Venaani for picturing the dire need to offer solidarity to the victims of state repression in the motherland such as Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala. Citizens who subscribe to the Yellow Movement led by the pragmatic change champion-in-chief, President Nelson Chamisa appreciate the Pan-African gesture from the leader of the main opposition in the Parliament of the (Land of the Brave), Namibia.

On his official Twitter handle, the vibrant leader noted that the Popular Democratic Movement penned a letter to President Hage in his capacity as SADC Chair Troika Organ of Politics, Defence and Security to release CCC MP Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala who has endured state-sponsored incarceration on concocted charges. He went on to express his wish for Zimbabwe free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in the impending watershed plebiscite. Citizens resident in Namibia urge SADC countries to amplify their revolutionary voices against authoritarianism in Zimbabwe, Eswatini, DRC, Malawi, etc so that residents can enjoy their democratic freedoms.

Moreover, the way Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala is being treated by the state makes him an undoubted political prisoner who is being tortured for defending the vulnerable. Yesterday, change seekers were perturbed to hear that the prisoner of conscience has been slapped with another charge as if the current persecution by prosecution is not enough. The ruthless Harare regime laid new frivolous charges against him for allegedly “Disorderly Conduct” and he will appear in Court 12 for this novel case on 20 April 2023, bringing his trumped-up charges to four (4), on which has been denied bail. We encourage citizens to flood the captured courts demanding the immediate release of Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala on the Court day in question.

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia Rundu Branch interim chairperson, Dr. Simbarashe Ndoda thanked President McHenry Venaani for listening to the plea on the issue of the gross abuse of human rights to be tabled before SADC by our main opposition leader in Parliament. He went on to declare that Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala a political prisoner who is illegally imprisoned for speaking strongly against the butchery of the late Moreblessing Ali, may her dear soul rest in protest. Namibia district shall continue to demand justice for Sikhala, the gruesomely murdered CCC activist Moreblessing Ali who is yet to be buried since May 2022 and the victims of the dictatorship in Zimbabwe.

What boggles the minds of constitutional democrats in Namibia is that even those who committed serious crimes such as stock theft, murder, rape, robbery, looters, corrupters, gold thieves, etc are given bail and some are acquitted but the Hon Mp and officer of the court has been denied bail more than 12 times since the 14th of June 2022. Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala now needs solidarity from all corners of the world. Regional leaders should jet in to bring an abrupt end to the arbitrary detentions, banning of political rallies, and private meetings by the alternative government.

In a nutshell, apart from the powerful spirit of Ubuntu and true Pan-Africanism exhibited by the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) President, CCC celebrates the engagement undertaken between President Nelson Chamisa’s delegation and the SADC secretariat. We hope that this time our regional body will not continue with their habitual Big Brother politics. We anticipate a transformed regional organization with the new quest to observe free, fair, and credible elections immune from rigging, politically motivated violence, media capture, and private voters roll only to mention a few so that we will be able to avert successive disputed elections in July\August 2023.

Mnangagwa: I’ve Completed 7,000 Life Changing Programs, During #GOLDMAFIA Crime

Emmerson Mnangagwa says more than 7 000 high impact life-changing projects have been completed across the country in the past five years.

Towards Vision 2030 to become an upper middle-class economy, Mnangagwa says he has put shoulder to the wheel, constructing roads in every part of Zimbabwe, modernising and climate-proofing the agriculture sector through mechanisation, irrigation infrastructure and dam construction.

The education and health sectors in particular, have been transformed with focus on disadvantaged children and those with disabilities, the state media reoort says. It continues saying:

As a result of the deliberate Government policies on agriculture, the country has now achieved food security and sovereignty with surpluses of all grains expected this season.

In his keynote address at the National Independence Day Celebrations in Mt Darwin yesterday, Mnangagwa underscored the importance of Zimbabweans in the building of a prosperous nation.

This is captured aptly in the theme of this year Independence Day Celebrations, “Zim@43, Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo.”

“The successes realised by the Second Republic are irreversible. To date, my administration has implemented about 7 000 high impact, life-changing projects since 2018 as a bedrock to lift our people out of poverty into prosperity,” said the .

He said while inflationary pressures were triggering price increases in the past, interventions by Government have arrested inflation and ensured price stability.

“It is encouraging that inflationary pressures continue to ease due to a combination of fiscal consolidation and tight monetary policy measures”.

Mnangagwa said the notable expansion, productivity and profitability of entities across all sectors of the economy have seen the country recording the highest GDP growth in the region with foreign currency earnings breaking records in 2022.

“Let us continue to fully utilise our internal resources to modernise and industrialise our country for a higher quality of life for all our people,” he said.

The said in the agriculture sector, Zimbabwe is “Going for Growth”, anchored by an assortment of policies such as the ial Teak Grease Programme with over 1 million households having been supported with teak grease to mitigate the January disease.

Cattle that died from the January disease in Fort Rixon, Insiza District in January 2023

Mnangagwa, who was accompanied by the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, Vice and Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Zanu-PF Vice- Cde Kembo Mohadi, Defence and War Veterans Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Politburo members, Cabinet Ministers, senior Government officials and service chiefs, said under his Government’s Agriculture Mechanisation Programme, the country’s farmers have increased access to mechanisation capacities.

“As a result of public private partnerships, a total of 1 641 tractors and combine harvesters were distributed by December 2022, while 4 400 additional tractors are being imported towards closing the farm mechanisation gap.

“To ensure that our people fully enjoy improved productivity of our land and the ongoing modernisation of my Administration, 2-wheeler tractor-kits will be availed to our communal and smallholder farmers,” he said.

Mnangagwa added that dams being constructed across all provinces are set to ensure aspects related to hydro power, fisheries, irrigation development and potable water benefit communities with Mashonaland Central Province alone having benefited from the construction of Semwa, Bindura, Dande and Mbada dams, in a clear sign of development that leaves no one and no place behind.

“Piped water schemes have also been established at Chahwanda, Bveke, Kaitano, Kamutsenzere and Chigango. Additionally, the Second Republic is in the process of drilling one borehole per village across the country, with the accompanying nutrition gardens, orchards, and fisheries also being established.

“We are unwavering in our commitment to improve the quality of life of our people, no matter where they live,” he said.

Under the Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme, Mnangagwa said people are being supported to grow traditional grains and cereals with more and more households moving from subsistence farming to undertaking farming as a business.

“This 2022/2023 season, our country is projecting over 3,2 million metric tonnes of cereals against an annual requirement of 2,2 million metric tonnes.

“This momentum will be sustained and the successes consolidated. Together, as one united and hard-working people, we have attained food security and food sovereignty,” he said.

Apart from that, infrastructure development projects embarked upon by the Second Republic have been game changers and remain on course.

“We are indeed proud as a country that this sector has scored unprecedented results on the back of the use of our own internal resources and local expertise.

“The Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway will soon be complete, with works on the Beitbridge-Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, Mutare Christmas Pass as well as Harare-Chirundu Highway having commenced,” Mnangagwa said.

In Mashonaland Central, works will be accelerated on the Harare-Bindura-Shamva, Bindura-Matepatepa-Mt Darwin, Chimhanda-Rushinga, Muzarabani-Mahuwe, St Alberts-Dotito and Harare-Guruve-Kanyemba roads as well as the Ndodahondo-Mukumbura Border Post.

“The modernisation of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and construction of the Mbudzi Interchange in Harare are ongoing. These and other projects undertaken to date are enhancing internal connectivity as well as establishing Zimbabwe as a regional gateway into the continent,” the said.- state media

Cervical Cancer Treatable At Early Stage

Joana Mamombe Passport Release Blocked

The application by CCC Member of Parliament Joana Mamombe for the temporary release of her passport to visit Kenya for a training conference has been dismissed by Harare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje.
Mamombe is facing allegations of faking her abduction together with her two accomplices, one of whom jumped bail and is believed to be outside Zimbabwe, and had sought a variation of her bail conditions so she could travel to Kenya.

Mr Mambanje refused to vary bail conditions since she had not given an adequate reason to him to do so and had applied herself for the invitation to the training conference she wished to attend.

In his ruling, he said there must be a solid justification before such an application was granted.

A leisure visit would not justify lifting a bail condition against an accused person.

“Bail is a means of procuring the release of a prisoner from legal custody upon posting sufficient security, for their appearance at a time and place designated, to answer to a criminal charge,” he noted.

Through bail, the court gave liberty to a prisoner facing trial, but at the same time insured their future attendance in court and compelled them to remain within the jurisdiction of the court.

“If the court is then to willy-nilly uplift such caveats, then the whole purpose of recognisance is put to naught. The applicant is well aware of her limitations. Regardless, she proceeds to embark on extra territorial fellowship applications,” he said.

The invitation was at her instigation.

“She made an application to be invited,” said Mr Mambanje.

“I have no doubts that there are plenty of these and her decision to go on board such tertiary fellowships is more of a frolicsome attempt. She ought to have waited for the case to complete, secure her full freedoms then start on these applications at a suitable time.”

The State’s fears that she could not return for trial were rational.

The State at one point had three accused facing trial in the case – Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova.

Marova’s application to be allowed to travel outside the country was consented to by the State and she never returned.

While Mamombe could not be punished for the wrongs of a co-accused, the danger of non-return did exist, the court heard.

Her lawyer Mr Jeremiah Bhamu told the court that his client was not seeking to travel for leisure, but the training was important for her personal growth as a legislator.

Deputy Prosecutor-General Mr Micheal Reza opposed the application, saying Mamombe was going for leisure and therefore she was not fit to get temporary release of her passport.

Mr Reza said Mamombe was not part of the training management so her absence would not affect the conference.-state media

Madinda Fumes Over Battle Of Zimbabwe Postponement

Highlanders’ assistant coach Madinda Ndlovu has admitted that his players were left disappointed after their first installment of the league season’s Battle of Zimbabwe against Dynamos was postponed.

The encounter was supposed to take place on Saturday in Bulawayo. The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) directed the Premier Soccer League to cancel it so that the two teams can feature in Tuesday’s invitational 2023 Independence Cup encounter.

Speaking at the club’s weekly Press conference, as cited by Sunday News, Ndlovu indicated that their focus is on motivating their players.

“Of course they (players) are disappointed, but it is what it is,” the gaffer said. “We can’t do anything. We just have to go by the decision of the authorities.

“What we have to do is motivate them to say the game we’re going to play is equally the same as the one that was cancelled.”

Highlanders head coach Baltemar Brito was also disappointed with the postponement, and blasted the authorities as he claimed that decision was made to prevent Dynamos from losing.

“This decision was only to protect Dynamos because they came from two draws, they have injured players and are in a bad state,” the Portuguese said at the same presser.

“We cannot runaway from this, that decision was not taken to protect football but just to protect Dynamos.”

Meanwhile, Bosso are the defending champions having won last year’s 42nd Independence Cup 1-0 courtesy of a Stanley Ngala strike at Barbourfields Stadium.

ZEP Holders’ Handlers Receive Death Threats

By- Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF), director Nicole Fritz, and her family received threats on Twitter the day before the foundation’s court action to stop the discontinuation of the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs.

On 10 April, Twitter user one Freeman Bhengu (@zibuseman) warned they would deal with Fritz and her daughter. Wrote Bhengu:

We are watching her and we know where she stays, her daughter, and their closed offices in Parktown, we will deal with her tomorrow @Nicole Fritz.
The HSF, along with the Zimbabwe Immigration Federation and the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit Holders, are challenging in court the decision by the Department of Home Affairs to scrap the ZEP.
Around 178 000 ZEP holders will be affected by the decision.
The hearing started in the Pretoria High Court on 11 April.
SA private media reported Fritz as saying the threats are “enormously disturbing” and that those working in social justice or human rights should not experience such harassment.
She said other litigants were also receiving threats.
Meanwhile, the Global South Against Xenophobia (GSAX) has issued a statement calling on the South African Police Service (SAPS) and South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to act.
GSAX urged SAPS to protect Fritz during the duration of the court hearings or until the perpetrators are arrested and to investigate all the threats.
Fritz said this isn’t the first time she has been threatened. She said the same person has emailed her in the past telling her that she is being watched.

Police Press More Charges Against Sikhala

By-Authorities in Harare have pressed fresh charges against the CCC deputy chair, Job Sikhala.

The Zengeza West lawmaker has since been summoned to the courts, where he will appear Thursday on an alleged disorderly conduct charge, bringing to four the cases he is facing after being denied bail on the other three.

The Sikhala remained on pre-trial detention for ten months after his arrest in June last year.

Sikhala was arrested for allegedly inciting public violence and disturbing police investigations following the murder of Moreblessing Ali of Nyatsime in 2022.

His allies, who call themselves Friends of the Job Sikhala Trust, told NewsDay Monday that the new charge of disorderly conduct is a deliberate attempt to keep Sikhala in prison until after the forthcoming elections.
The spokesperson of Friends of the Job Sikhala Trust Emmanuel Zellers Gumbo said:
The trust notes with deep sadness the perpetual persecution of Mr. Sikhala. But the regime has made it clearer that this is nothing but a political battle as compared to legal which now calls for political action, we now need to speak with the voice of the oppressed.
Regrettably, this is a well-calculated, deliberate effort to lock Job Sikhala behind bars beyond the forthcoming elections.
CCC insists Sikhala is a political prisoner and is facing trumped-up charges.
In September 2022, constitutional law expert Lovemore Madhuku suggested that political dialogue between CCC and ZANU PF will facilitate Sikhala’s release.
He said CCC’s refusal to talk with ZANU PF was behind Sikhala’s continued incarceration.

Heal Zimbabwe Statement on Zimbabwe’s 43rd Independence Day

Heal Zimbabwe joins the country in celebrating 43 years of independence. As Zimbabwe celebrates 43 years of sovereign rule and self-determination, Heal Zimbabwe salutes men and women of valor, both living and departed, who selflessly and valiantly fought for the country’s hard-won independence. Their dreams, aspirations and promise of liberation remain the same today, 43 years on and their fulfilment must be a collective goal for all progressive Zimbabweans, #AsOne people.

Today we celebrate the strides taken since 1980 to date in coming up with a strong Constitution that has an exemplary and comprehensive Bill of Rights. We note sadly, however, that the 2013 Constitution glorified across the continent has not been followed to the letter by the state, its agencies and the majority of all who hold a duty to defend, protect and implement it. The State has been found wanting in its obligations towards the full and progressive realization of economic, social and cultural rights, especially, on the rights to education, health, social security and other fundamental rights. Forty-three years after independence, Zimbabweans are yet to fully realize their civic and political rights espoused in the Bill of Rights. The democratic and civic space continues to shrink. We call on the State and its agencies at all levels to respect, protect and promote civic and political rights without discrimination. We call for the independence of our state institutions and the judiciary to enable them to serve all citizens without discrimination. We add our voice in calling for the release of Job Sikhala and other political prisoners.

Our Independent Commissions Supporting Democracy (ICSDs) must be strengthened in capacity, independence and effectiveness to enable them to discharge their mandate as clearly outlined in Chapter 12 of the Constitution. We urge the President to appoint members of the Independent Complaints Commission in time before the forthcoming 2023 elections to strengthen our human rights protection mechanisms. Forty-three years after independence, our beloved Zimbabwe is yet to transform from the country that it was to a socially cohesive, tolerant, democratic nation whose citizens enjoy inclusive prosperity. While we applaud strides taken since 1980 to address structural colonial imbalances and inequalities, we call for decisive, strong and effective means to unite Zimbabwe #AsOne

Heal Zimbabwe calls on our national institutions entrusted with the responsibility to unite our nation, particularly the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) to build, promote and foster peace, national unity and tolerance in pursuit of its constitutional mandate of ensuring post-conflict justice, healing and reconciliation. We call for the extension of the tenure of the NPRC with strengthened independence and capacity towards national healing and conflict transformation.

As the nation approaches the much-anticipated 2023 harmonized elections, Heal Zimbabwe calls for peaceful participation, tolerance and harmony in the diversity of opinions and choices. We call on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to be transparent and deliver a free, fair and credible election. We implore the State and all Institutions Supporting Democracy to play their part to ensure that there is peace, unity and political tolerance before, during and after the forthcoming elections. We add our voice in the call for collective and collaborative action between the State, Independent Commissions, Civil Society, the church and other stakeholders to promote and foster peaceful participation and tolerance guided by the values of Ubuntu.Together #AsOne people, we must work towards a peaceful, credible election that is underlined by tolerance and harmony in our diversity.

As Heal Zimbabwe Trust we remain committed to play our part in nation building guided by our vision of a socially cohesive nation that enjoys tolerance, peace, and prosperity at all tiers of society. Through our #AsOne National Peace Campaign, anchored on the three pillars of tolerance, peaceful participation and Ubuntu we continue to champion Harmony in Diversity towards a peaceful 2023 election and beyond.

Mavaza: Al Jazeera Abused Auxillia Mnangagwa, Uebert Angel-Mavaza

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The Aljazeera documentary aimed its ugly unprofessional guns at the First Lady and the first family.

The last episode, episode 4, advertised as the greatest expose of the century, where the viewers were told that the First Lady of Zimbabwe is embroiled in a Gold Mafia Scandal, proved to be a non-event, a loud-sounding nothing.

AlJazeera embarked on a two-year documentary, and in those two years, they produced a drama they called a documentary.

In their drama, Aljazeera failed to show the best practice of a journalist. A journalist dwells in fairness. Fairness in journalism means exploring all sides of an issue and reporting the findings accurately.

Members of the public should never be used to exaggerate the importance of a story. As a journalist, you are responsible for examining your own motives and ensuring that your personal feelings and emotions do not influence what you report, whom you talk to, or determine which elements of the story you highlight.
You also need to think carefully about the language and tone you use to ensure that it doesn’t give an inaccurate and unfair representation of the facts. Your job is to inform the public debate, not manipulate that debate. A journalist works on behalf of the public, not using them for his own end. A journalist should have no motivation other than presenting sourced and verified facts. It is the fundamental principle that the fact must be verified. It is not good practice for a journalist to have the desired outcome. Having a desired effect becomes activism. It is essential to know that journalism and activism are not compatible. You do your job regardless of the outcome.

The First Lady of Zimbabwe does not source business for Zimbabwe. Other than accompanying His Excellency, she does her charitable work where she represents Zimbabweans of all walks. She is not the face of ZANU PF. She is the face of Zimbabwe. The opponents of the PresidentPresident are opportunistic and cowardly when they attack his wife just to get a result. The Aljazeera journalists and Ambassador Angel had one thing in common, which was their flare to lie. Both Angel and Aljazeerah have shown their propensity to lie.
Despite the sensationalisation of this Gold Mafia comedy, the government has nothing to respond to this documentary, and their allegations fly in their face and will never stand the heat of a proper cross-examination.
In all the acting exhibited by Aljazeera, it is laughable that the opposition wants the First Lady to respond to the frivolous and vexatious allegations levelled against her by Aljazeera in their woeful documentary.
The First Lady can not respond to speculation neither can the President. This so-called documentary produced no evidence, and it is unconstitutional to convict the first family in the court of media. Our constitution rests on the presumption of innocence. The PresidentPresident and the First Lady have nothing to say in this fishing expedition by Aljazeera. These are allegations of corruption which have no merit. Aljazeera did not go to Mai MNANGAGWA and ask for her side of the story; neither did they go to the PresidentPresident or his government for their comment. Why? Because they indulged in a wilful ignorance where you shut your eyes and pretend you have not seen it.
Proper journalism will have had a part where the accused would be given a chance to respond, called the Right of reply.
You should always offer the Right of reply when making allegations. However, there will be some cases where this rule needs to be checked with senior editorial colleagues and one wonders if the Aljazeera journalist did that.
If, for example, you uncover information that you consider to be in the public interest and which involves serious allegations against an individual or group, it might not be appropriate to approach those who are the focus of the piece of investigative journalism.
This is particularly important if the information could lead to criminal arrest. In most cases, the fact that a person has agreed to be interviewed is sufficient to prove informed consent, but in this case, not even one person who is being accused was ever interviewed.

It does not matter that the country in question is a third-world country. AlJazeera will never publish allegations against the First Lady of America where due diligence has not been taken. Every person, regardless of their colour, has a right to be heard. Throughout the four episodes of the so-called Gold Mafia there was never a clip of confirmation from those who have been mentioned, especially the first family. There has not been a prima facile case in the documentary. The documentary dwelt and bordered on speculation allegations and baseless boasting. Nobody needs to prove his innocence.

Surprisingly in the documentary, no Mafia was exposed except one boastful ambassador and two individuals with criminal pasts.
What we have been told is that there is Mafia. But we never saw the Mafia. All we saw was a bunch Of journalists doing a sorry affair of stupid journalism and idiots pretending to be great people. There is no prima facie case but just a narrative and journalists in the conman’s outfit. It was just a fake story.

Aljazeera has had its motives elsewhere, and some of our people are gullible to believe fiction is real. In the documentary, there was no gold seen leaving Zimbabwe, no money coming in Zimbabwe; all we saw were con artists battling it to prove their expertise.
Aljazeera took two years to come up with such a document. This is shameful and, indeed, unacceptable.
The government is not on the run or on the fence, as alleged by some opposition media. Again the Gold Mafia proved not to be the greatest scandal; it does not eclipse Willogate.
One wonders, What is here to answer? The documentary is a shame an attempt at journalism only attracts the mind of the gullible and those with ulterior motives.
There is inherent human dignity protected by the laws to protect the Right to privacy. Privacy has dignity promises which give individuals confidence and peace of mind. You do not budge in someone’s life without being allowed in. Issues of defamation are dignity issues. AlJazeera conflated the President’s life with his private life when they brought in the First Lady in a case of a boastful individual.
When Angel called the First Lady and put her speaker phone, that was intrusive; it was a violation of human rights, and Aljazeera decided to publish that phone call without verifying the identity person on the other end of the line was irresponsible. We must remember that Demonstration is an assemble-in motion; it is a hybrid right it protects the Right to meet and the Right to express and hold an opinion. Private rights can be blended like the dignity right and the Right to life, which is more comprehensive than to breathe on and breathe out. Right to life goes beyond mere leaving but leaving with dignity. When they did that to Mai MNANGAGWA it was undignified and an abuse of journalistic rights. Suppose the member of the public is making a significant contribution on which the whole item or broadcast programme is based. In that case, it must be clear to them that the other party will be asked to confirm the story. They have a right to respond and know. if there is a discussion or debate surrounding their contribution and, if so, the range of views being represented and the likely contributors should be made clear to them. This is called fairness.
Seeking a response is the backbone of investigative journalism.
In cases where there are allegations of wrongdoing, you need to offer a fair opportunity for people to respond to the allegations before broadcast or publication. When seeking a response, a journalist needs to keep accurate records of when, how and where the person was approached, along with their response to the offer.
If the material is for TV and radio, that response needs to be broadcast in the same programme or simultaneously, as the allegation is made. Again, legal reasons might override this.
The First Lady was a victim the moment Angel called her while he was flanked by a bunch of criminals masquerading as journalists. When you are on speaker phone, you should be told. The Right to privacy of the First Lady was attacked. When you attack the First Lady, you are attacking the President. If anything, the government will send a strong statement that people have a right not to be harassed or abused. Imputing a none existent crime is wrong. Govt can only respond when there is a prima facile case. In any law, there are very few circumstances when the onus shift from the accuser to the accused.
You can’t make an irrational call and Demand an answer. What was prominent in this case was a constitutional attack. The First Lady faced an attack on her privacy and dignity. Aljazeera was trying to steal dignity, the values that can not be redeemed. They try to remove the first family’s pride and drag it into the mud.
We are dealing with people who want to avoid looking at facts. You can’t call them wrong because they are not worth employing the moral standards between bad and good. They are beyond judging. It is misguided to call them bad they are ingenious and hell-bent on evil. They are not even making an effort to analyse the facts. They are hell-bent on accusing and labelling the country and its leadership as criminals. They are hell-bent on opposing.
Attacking a family means you are a coward and vulgar. In politics, you take the ball, not the man. Politicians subject themselves to rigorous scrutiny. If you attack a family, you are being a severe coward. If you break into the arena, you must leave a family alone; never hit below the belt; it is disgraceful.
The telephone, the First Lady, received was a responsive one. She did no active phone, she was phoned, we saw it with our own eyes, and we heard it. She was deliberately called but stood on her ethics and demanded that the caller talk to Baba. Her response could have been more substantive it was a referral response. She never enquired to understand the substance of the case. She advised Angel to speak to the father.
The First Lady never got into the substance, and labelling her as part of the Gold Mafia is mischievous.
This is assuming that the voice might be that of the First Lady. AlJazeera lost the opportunity of verifying that, they were supposed to call the First Lady and ask her to confirm that she was the owner of the voice on the other side. But because they were hell burnt to soil the good name of the First Lady, they did not bother.
It is never appropriate to broadcast or publish an interview in which the contributor goes on a name-calling spree without confirming with those named. However, if such a case arises, it must be made clear to the audience the conditions that were set in order to obtain the interview.
The contributor must also be told that you will be making this clear before and after the interview is aired/published.
In all cases, if you can not obtain comments from those mentioned, you should withdraw from the project.
Therefore, the documentary is a fishing expedition and must be rejected with the contempt it deserves.

Chatunga Mugabe Arrested

By-The former and late President Robert Mugabe’s second son, Bellarmine Chatunga, has been arrested and arraigned before the courts for violence.

Chatunga, 25, was arrested last week after he and his accomplice, Tatenda Chinyuku, allegedly smashed a window panel of a car belonging to one Lazarus Pairemanzi.

They appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Friday, facing two counts of malicious damage to property and assault before being remanded out of custody.

The pair was meant to appear before the court yesterday for the withdrawal of their case but only Chinyuku made an appearance.

The court then ordered him to appear back in court on May 30 for routine remand before issuing a warrant of arrest for Mugabe.

The State is alleging that sometime last week, the two cornered Pairemanzi and began accusing him of driving improperly.

They then allegedly damaged his motor vehicle before taking him out of the vehicle and assaulting him.

“On the 11th day of April 2023 and along Samora Machel towards 7th street and at around 1830hrs the complainant was driving his motor vehicle and the accused persons approached the complainant with an unmarked Mercedes Benz and blocked him.

“The accused persons then disembarked from their vehicle and went to the complainant accusing him of driving in a bad manner.

“The complainant closed his window and the accused persons then damaged the right window panel of the complainant’s vehicle,” read the court documents.

“After the accused persons damaged the complainant’s window panel as alleged in count one the accused persons further went on to assault the complainant with clenched fist and open hands on the face and head several times. The accused acted unlawfully.” Daily News

Chief Charumbira In Sexual Harassment Storm

By– The Zimbabwe Council of Chiefs president and Pan African Parliament chair, Chief Fortune Charumbira, faces indecent assault charges after he allegedly made some unwelcome sexual advances towards his 27-year-old niece.

A docket has been opened at Masvingo Central Police, with the initial report recorded under RRB 5457646 on Saturday.

In an internal memo by police in Masvingo, Charumbira allegedly committed the act on the Zimuto High School teacher, who cannot be named for ethical reasons.

According to police, on March 31 2023 at around 1 pm, the woman was on her way from Mutare to Harare en route to Amai Mugabe Secondary School in Mazowe for some Secondary School debate competitions.

Just before she got to Harare, she was allegedly phoned by the politician who indicated he wanted to meet her.

She was later picked up and driven to Harare’s Rainbow Towers Hotel by Charumbira, who treated her to some lunch in the dining hall.

When they were about to leave, it is further alleged, the Zanu PF politician started caressing his niece’s breasts.

He also put his hand on her dress and kissed her without her consent.

Charumbira is said to have started comforting the woman after she told him she disapproved of his sexual advances.

On April 2, 2023, at around 1 pm, while at Amai Grace Mugabe Secondary School in Mazowe, the complainant received a call from Charumbira, who requested to meet her at the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) building in Harare on the same day.

The woman then went to Harare to meet Charumbira using public transport.

She arrived around 2 pm and was picked up from NSSA Building in the Harare CBD and driven to Monomotapa Hotel, where Charumbira allegedly took her cell phone and gave her his car keys.

He then led her into a hotel lounge on the 18th floor, where they spoke over the Rainbow Towers Hotel incident. They spent about an hour in the lounge.

It is also alleged that when the woman stood up intending to leave, she was followed to the exit and dragged back by her hand into the lounge by Charumbira, who started caressing her breasts and kissing her without her consent.

After that, they left the hotel and got into Charumbira’s vehicle parked outside the hotel.

While in the car, it is alleged the lawmaker returned his niece’s cell phone, which she then used to record the two’s conversation secretly.

Charumbira allegedly drove the woman back to Amai Mugabe Secondary School in Mazowe.

During the journey, Charumbira complained to the woman why she kept ignoring his sexual advances.

As they drove past Mazowe Dam, Charumbira allegedly inserted his left hand inside his niece’s thighs and touched her private part. The woman pushed his hand away.

She was later dropped at the school by Charumbira, who then returned to Harare.

The woman later called her father on the same day and reported her experience.

On April 14, she also narrated the experience to her husband upon his return from South Africa.

She was accompanied by her husband on the next day to report the matter at ZRP Masvingo Central police.

In a recorded conversation, Charumbira could be heard soliciting for sexual favours from his niece.

“I see more value and benefit in you and I being linked somehow, being friends, being very close friends, private, very close friends,” he is heard saying.

“When the need arises, we just got that close, that even intimacy, when there is need and it is convenient for both of us, I see more benefits than anything which is not beneficial.

“I am saying, kiss me. I am not letting the world collapse. I am not letting the world collapse. I am saying that kiss is not a good thing.

“I am saying that kiss is not a good thing. You can kiss me, but you cannot have that intention of kissing me. I won’t kill you.”

According to the memo, Charumbira’s case will be transferred to Harare Central Police Station.

Government Has Abandoned Us- Matabeleland Chief

Matobo district has lamented that 23 years after people were settled in Mcwazini village, the area still has no social amenities such as schools, clinics and dip-tanks.

Chief Masuku told a village meeting at Mcwazini recently that people in the area, who were settled during the land reform programme in 2000, also face serious water challenges.

“There is no development in this village in terms of shops, clinics, schools, dams as well as dip tanks,” Masuku said.

“No one can live in an area where there are no social amenities. There are 251 homesteads here.”

According to Masuku, the nearest clinics are over 10km away, denying villagers access to primary health care services.

Copper Thieves Were Former Workers Returning To Steal

ZRP cops in Bulawayo have arrested two former Pretoria Portland Company employees who were caught red handed stealing copper cables worth US$8 610.
The pair had their contracts terminated in March this year and they hatched an idea to steal cables from the company’s storage yard.

Confirming the incident, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said Tinotenda Chitsere and Trymore Mudenda were spotted stealing the cables leading to their arrest.

“On April 9, at around 1AM, the two broke into a storage yard of the company. They stole five rolls of 20m x 16 mm four core armoured copper cables and 13 bundles of 30mm x 16 mm overhead copper cables. The accused persons carried the copper cables out of the premises and hid them in a bushy area close to the storage yard,” said Insp Ncube.

“While stealing, the accused persons were seen and identified by one of the employees a male adult aged 33 years who resides in the company compound who once worked with them, he alerted the security guards who tried to apprehend them but they ran away leaving the stolen copper cables in the bushy area.”

Insp Ncube said the matter was reported to police and investigations were carried out leading to the arrest of the men at their places of residence.

“The total value stolen is US$ 8 610 and all was recovered. The suspects are assisting police with investigations since their actions indicate that they deal in copper cables. We appeal to members of the public to continue exposing and reporting such or similar people to the police,” he added. -state media

Accidents Caused By Mere Speeding

State Media- Speed limits for buses, often ignored, are going to be enforced to ensure speeding by drivers is avoided, thereby saving lives, with the police capacitated to ensure compliance, Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona said yesterday during a tour of the Chivhu accident scene where a Tinboom bus crashed on Sunday morning.
Thirteen people died as a result of the accident, while several others were injured. Government has since declared the accident a national disaster.

Minister Mhona, who was leading a delegation on the tour, also visited the injured in Chivhu hospital.

“We are saddened as a Ministry and Government that we are loosing people due to road accidents. After we were informed of this accident, we informed the President who then sent us here to the accident scene and hospital to see and understand what could have happened and what is needed to be done, to assist the affected.

“We are told that the driver was speeding. Maybe if he was not speeding, lives could have not been lost. I want to appeal to Zimbabweans and motorists to always value life. We are noting that drivers are not respecting the sanctity of life, this is very sad.

“Therefore, as a Ministry, we are now, and urgently advocating stiffer penalties on those who would be found breaking roads rules and regulations. We are also, immediately, encouraging our buses to obey speed limits. This is crucial in saving lives. We are also urging bus operators to ensure their drivers are sticking to their timetables.”

Timetables are plotted assuming that drivers obey road rules and limits so if they arrive at a stop or terminus earlier than they should, questions can be asked and assumptions of speeding made. Speed limits are also maximum permitted speeds, and drivers are expected to drive more slowly when there is congestion, visibility problems, and other dangers.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Dr Aplonia Munzverengi, who was part of the delegation thanked Government for the support towards the burial of the deceased, and also support towards the injured.

“We want to thank President Mnangagwa for making sure there is a budget for the Department of Civil Protection. This kind of disaster is hard for us but with Government support, it is lessened.

We must ensure our buses are safe for the people. There must be stiffer penalties to drivers who break road rules and regulations, which include cancellation of one’s drivers licence. The objective is to protect lives of our people.

“There is need for a Government and the private sector to join hands to ensure people’s lives are saved in these roads.”

Dr Samson Nhanhanga, Chairman of the Zimbabwe Passenger Transport Association, who was also at the accident scene yesterday called for an inclusive approach to end road carnage.

“We are facing challenges of drivers, who are breaking traffic rules. We must work hand in glove, all of us to make sure accidents are reduced. It calls for all of us to work together. We are sympathising with the bereaved families and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Meanwhile, Tinboom bus company director Mr Tinoziva Tsvangirai availed $2.5 million for the accident victims.

Earlier on Tinboom bus company issued a statement

“With a profound feeling of grief and sorrow, Tinboom Coaches’ management and staff hereby condole with the families of the people who perished in the horrific crash involving one of our buses on April 16, 2023 in Chivhu district. Our prayers and thoughts are with the families of the deceased.

“As we continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities in their quest to establish the cause of the catastrophic accident which has so far claimed 13 lives, we would like to pledge our full support to the bereaved families. We will do our utmost best to ensure that their dear departed get a befitting send-off while at the same time taking active steps to avoid the recurrence of such an accident.” read the statement

Survivors yesterday attributed the fatal accident to speeding and bad weather.

The horror accident killed 12 people including the driver on the spot, while one passed away on admission at Chivhu hospital.

Several others escaped death with various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Chivhu hospital for treatment.

Those who were critical have since been transferred to hospitals in Harare, while others were discharged, with others still admitted at Chivhu hospital.

Speaking to the media during the hospital visit, one of the survivors Mr Kenneth Makonese, said passengers had called the driver to reduce speed since there was mist.

“I think the driver of the bus was speeding. The bus started to swerve and in an instant veered off the road. I saw the bus crashing and from there, I saw myself outside the bus.

“I was with my young brother and my son. So I started looking for them, though I was in pain. I stepped on the wheel of the bus and looked inside but they were not there. I continued searching outside, that is when I saw my young brother lying on the ground. I rushed there and discovered that he was unconscious. I tried to remove his shoes and shirt, that is when I saw him bleeding from the nose and mouth. I knew from that moment that he was not going to make it. When we arrived at the hospital, that is when I was told that he had passed away.

“I am in pain. My leg is fractured, I have chest pains. I am also in pain because my brother is no more. May his soul rest in peace,” Mr Makonese said.

Another survivor Mr Chrispen Makonese said he saw the bus swerving from left to right and to the right before it crashed.

“ When we approached a curve, just before the accident occurred, the bus swerved to the right, and in that instant, the driver tried to control it, and it made another swerve to the left. The bus then swerved again to the right and it veered off the road. Also the weather was bad. It was showering and misty and speeding was not a good idea.

“In an instant, I just found myself lying on the ground, outside the bus, injured. Other passengers were also outside, some were unconscious, while others were crying, it was just a horrific sight, I do not know how I came outside the bus, but I guess I was thrown outside the window.

“I injured my right hand, I am in pain, but I thank God I am alive,” Chrispen said.

Another survivor, who declined to be named, said her aunt passed away in the accident.

“I was heading back to work in Harare with my aunt when the accident occurred. We were both injured and rushed here for treatment. Unfortunately I am hearing just now that my aunt died,” said the survivor

Outside the wards, relatives of the deceased were gathered, sobbing uncontrobly. -state media

About Autism

Key facts
Autism – also referred to as autism spectrum disorder ̶ constitutes a diverse group of conditions related to development of the brain.
About 1 in 100 children has autism.
Characteristics may be detected in early childhood, but autism is often not diagnosed until much later.
The abilities and needs of autistic people vary and can evolve over time. While some people with autism can live independently, others have severe disabilities and require life-long care and support.
Evidence-based psychosocial interventions can improve communication and social skills, with a positive impact on the well-being and quality of life of both autistic people and their caregivers.
Care for people with autism needs to be accompanied by actions at community and societal levels for greater accessibility, inclusivity and support.
Overview
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a diverse group of conditions. They are characterized by some degree of difficulty with social interaction and communication. Other characteristics are atypical patterns of activities and behaviours, such as difficulty with transition from one activity to another, a focus on details and unusual reactions to sensations.

The abilities and needs of autistic people vary and can evolve over time. While some people with autism can live independently, others have severe disabilities and require life-long care and support. Autism often has an impact on education and employment opportunities. In addition, the demands on families providing care and support can be significant. Societal attitudes and the level of support provided by local and national authorities are important factors determining the quality of life of people with autism.

Characteristics of autism may be detected in early childhood, but autism is often not diagnosed until much later.

People with autism often have co-occurring conditions, including epilepsy, depression, anxiety and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well as challenging behaviours such as difficulty sleeping and self-injury. The level of intellectual functioning among autistic people varies widely, extending from profound impairment to superior levels.

Epidemiology

It is estimated that worldwide about 1 in 100 children has autism (1). This estimate represents an average figure, and reported prevalence varies substantially across studies. Some well-controlled studies have, however, reported figures that are substantially higher. The prevalence of autism in many low- and middle-income countries is unknown.

Causes
Available scientific evidence suggests that there are probably many factors that make a child more likely to have autism, including environmental and genetic factors.

Available epidemiological data conclude that there is no evidence of a causal association between measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, and autism. Previous studies suggesting a causal link were found to be filled with methodological flaws (2,3).

There is also no evidence to suggest that any other childhood vaccine may increase the risk of autism. Evidence reviews of the potential association between the preservative thiomersal and aluminium adjuvants contained in inactivated vaccines and the risk of autism strongly concluded that vaccines do not increase the risk of autism.

Assessment and care

A broad range of interventions, from early childhood and across the life span, can optimize the development, health, well-being and quality of life of autistic people. Timely access to early evidence-based psychosocial interventions can improve the ability of autistic children to communicate effectively and interact socially. The monitoring of child development as part of routine maternal and child health care is recommended.

It is important that, once autism has been diagnosed, children, adolescents and adults with autism and their carers are offered relevant information, services, referrals, and practical support, in accordance with their individual and evolving needs and preferences.

The health-care needs of people with autism are complex and require a range of integrated services, that include health promotion, care and rehabilitation. Collaboration between the health sector and other sectors, particularly education, employment and social care, is important.

Interventions for people with autism and other developmental disabilities need to be designed and delivered with the participation of people living with these conditions. Care needs to be accompanied by actions at community and societal levels for greater accessibility, inclusivity and support.

The X-Factors Of Mining

X factors of mining “

practical lessons to mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of management must not be at whatever costs .

Your relatives ( including your wife and kids ) should get a job somewhere else or be prepared to take instructions from a management team never to directly report to you no matter what. Don’t discuss mining issues with them listen to their opinions silently unless if they qualify then appoint them . Paid management team and all your employees well and fire them for underperformance never rehire someone fired by management team .
Debt .

Debt is a cancer affecting the whole world unfortunately in artisanal mining Debt is what Cellphone lines are to econet , Lithium is to Tesla car , imagine if econet will stop selling lines without coming up with an alternative. Most of mining services are paying after work completion which is root causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more . Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .

Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation. You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost . Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

Bournemouth Boss Speaks On Zemura Departure

Bournemouth coach Garry O’Neil has for the first time reacted to Jordan Zemura’s imminent departure at the club.

Zemura will join Italian Serie A club Udinese on a free transfer.

The Zimbabwean defender signed a four-year deal after refusing to extend his stay at the Cherries beyond this season.

He received numerous offers but turned them down, forcing the club to freeze him out of senior squad.

The 23-year-old was earlier this week informed he would no longer be allowed to train with the first team, instead being sent to work with the development squad.

Asked if he feels let down by Zemura for the way his departure has transpired, Cherries head coach O’Neil told the Bournemouth Echo: “All of it is out now, so you all have a real clear picture of the situation.

“I don’t feel any way about it. As a footballer you have decisions to make and you make them and you do what you think is best for yourself.

“My responsibility is to do what I think is best for the team and the group and the club.

“It is the same with any situation that I deal with really. No real feelings about it, just what is best for the group and how do we give ourselves the best chance of staying up at the end of the season.”

Asked if Zemura’s situation had been a distraction to him and the squad, O’Neil insisted: “No. Nothing will distract me and the group from the task at hand, I can guarantee you that.

“There will be no shift in focus. It will be 100 per cent, from the moment that I took over until the end of the season.”

O’Neil added: “I think you guys know most of it now, if not all of it. I think it’s all out.

“The club have always been really aligned in how we see it.

“Jordan will move on and play for another club next season. As always, my focus is on the group and making sure that everybody is ready for the weekend.

“We’ve made decision that it’s best at this moment for Jordan to train with the under-21s and that will remain until it doesn’t.”- Soccer24 News

Government Has Neglected Us- Chief Masuku

Matobo district has lamented that 23 years after people were settled in Mcwazini village, the area still has no social amenities such as schools, clinics and dip-tanks.

Mugabe Minister Humbles Wadyajena

By-Gokwe-Nembudziya MP, Justice Mayor Wadyajena, has been walloped by former State Affairs minister Flora Bhuka in the just-ended weekend Zanu PF primary rerun.

Party national political commissar Mike Bimha said the results are subject to confirmation by the Politburo.

The winners are as follows: Fundukwa Ephraim (Churu), Matinyanya Martin (Mbare), Mercy Dinha (Zvimba West), and Flora Buka (Gokwe Nembudziya).

The losing candidates are Charles Matsika (Churu), Emmanuel Mahachi (Mbare), Ziyambi Ziyambi (Zvimba West), and Justice Mayor Wadyajena (Gokwe Nembudziya).

In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com last Wednesday, Maruva-Dinha, who wife to former long-serving Mashonaland Central Governor, Martin Dinha, said:

I might not know exactly why the people of Zvimba West no longer want the minister who has served them for more than 10 years, but what l know is that he was lacking and had his shortcomings.

The electorate wants an MP who resides among the people, and who comes back to them.

The problem with most senior politicians is they dump voters soon after elections only to return after five years.

I was motivated to contest for Zvimba West MP parliamentary seat because that’s my home area, my roots.

Besides, l am Zanu PF Women’s League provincial secretary for legal affairs and my colleagues and general electorate asked me to contest. The people are the ones that inspired me.

Speaking to NewsDay after the results of the 25 March primaries were announced, ZANU PF women’s league commissar Maybe Mbowa, who hails from Gokwe, where Wadyajena was defeated by Buka, said:

He wanted to come so that he could continue with his corrupt tendencies, but people are not fools.

Mayor (Wadyajena) wanted a comeback so that he could have another chance to loot again.

The people of Gokwe have opened their eyes. They refuse to be oppressed by one person.

Meanwhile, Spare Sithole is the ZANU PF candidate for Insiza South Constituency following the withdrawal of Andrew Langa ahead of the primary election rerun that was set for 22 April.

Soldiers Feared Dead In Nyanga Horror Crash

By- There are fears that some Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) members could have perished after their truck veered off the road several times before plunging into a valley in Nyanga.

The accident happened at the weekend.

Police said the vehicle was speeding and had twenty-five passengers on board who were coming from a funeral.
ZRP spokesperson in Manicaland Province, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the accident to the state media.
He said the accident occurred at the 24-kilometre peg along the Nyanga-Rwenya Road near Baines Farm. Said Insp. Muzondo:
The driver of the Zimbabwe National Army Ashok Leyland was driving along Nyanga-Rwenya Road with 24 passengers on board at around 5 PM.
They were coming from a funeral, and on approaching Baines Farm, the driver failed to negotiate the curve due to speeding and lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle veered off the road to the right and overturned several times before plunging into a valley about 100 metres away from the tarred road.
The vehicle landed on its wheels and the passengers sustained injuries and were taken to Nyanga District Hospital.
He appealed to motorists to exercise caution on the roads.

Fadzayi Mahere Undresses Hopewell Chin’ono, Says The Noise-Making Activist Has A Dirty Agenda

By-Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has accused journalist and self acclaimed Government critic Hopewell Chin’ono of spreading malicious information about the opposition party.

Chin’ono claimed that CCC has failed to field candidates in some constituencies and wards in Manicaland and Mashonaland West provinces.

In response, Mahere said the party accepts constructive criticism and respects freedom of expression but will not be swayed by people with a “dirty agenda”. She said:
Why not be respectful enough to allow the Independent Selection Panel to complete its work instead of churning out malicious disinformation?
Wait for due process and official announcements instead of getting ahead of yourself with erroneous reporting. This is regrettable.
Journalism, constructive criticism and freedom of expression are good. Having a dirty agenda is not.
We won’t stop working hard, holding the Govt to account, speaking out against corruption, mobilizing the masses & fighting to win Zimbabwe for change.
Chin’ono, who recently clashed on social media with CCC activists after claiming the opposition in Zimbabwe was as dead as a Dodo, claimed that CCC was finding it difficult to find candidates in some rural areas. He tweeted:
Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, CCC is struggling to find candidates in some rural areas. In Chamanimani, only 1 candidate was nominated in 22 wards.
Only 1 MP candidate was nominated for the 2 Chimanimani constituencies. Over 24 Mashonaland West wards don’t have candidates.
CCC recently conducted a candidate nomination process that will go through stages until a candidate to represent the party is selected.
The CCC nomination has four stages; nomination, verification, stakeholder consultations, citizen caucus where candidates will be expected to deliver a manifesto.

WERDIT INDEPENDENCE DAY COMMEMORATIONS STATEMENT

Wedza Residents Development Initiative Trust (WERDIT) joins the nation in commemorating the 43rd Independence Anniversary.

On this important day, we pay tribute to fallen and living heroes and heroines for their sacrifices in the fight for an independent Zimbabwe.

As we commemorate Independence Day, WERDIT reiterates its commitment to peace, tolerance and equality.

The colonial era was characterized by the economic, social and political domination of bonafide Zimbabweans by the white minority. Chief among the grievances for Zimbabweans against the settler colonial rule was land which was predominantly owned by the whites.

Socially the blacks were second class citizens in accessing the basic services whilst all their fundamental rights and freedoms were suppressed.

The political and civic rights including the right to vote were equally suppressed and only the white minority enjoyed these without impunity.

The Independence as ushered in on the 18th of April brought the majority rule as Zimbabweans started to access equal opportunities in all the sectors.

The 43rd Anniversary of our Independence which is now at hand is therefore a platform to take a stock on the progress which we have made in terms of preserving the gains of our independence both as state and non-state actors.

As WERDIT our focus has been on promoting participatory development whereby the residents are at the centre of key decision making processes.

This was mainly achieved through a multiplicity of interfaces and engagements between duty bearers and rights holders in ensuring that duty bearers improve their responsiveness in attaining their constitutional obligations.

In this regard WERDIT has used various ways to create platforms for the duty bearers and rights holders to have ensured meaningful participation of diverse residents groups in development processes.

WERDIT has successfully managed to bring rapport between the residents and key government offices including the District Development Coordinator’s (DDC) Office, Rural District Council, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), and Ministries of Health, Women Affairs and Social Welfare among many others on critical issues concerning communities.

The areas where collaborations between WERDIT and the above sectors were made include citizen participation in Budget Consultative meetings which were generally characterized by massive before the intervention of WERDIT.

Equally civic education on devolution and National Development Strategy 1 were collaboratively done with the relevant government departments and ward councilors.

This culminated in the increased participation of residents in district governance issues.

Through the WERDIT Peace Building and Conflict Management project the DDC’s office managed to reach out to all the communities to ameliorate the conflicts including boundary disputes, traditional leadership wrangles and scramble for natural and environmental resources.

As we continue to cherish the gains of our independence WERDIT vows to continue on its path to ensure the residents remain at the centre of making decisions for their district.

As WERDIT, we shall continue to fight for the voice of the generality in decision making to be recognized. This we will do through peaceful and constitutional means.

We firmly believe that all residents regardless of their background and persuasion should meaningfully participate in decision making and development in the district.

Happy Independence Day Zimbabwe.

Qualifications For Local Council Aspirants

By A Correspondent- Government is finalising a new law to bar politicians without tertiary education qualifications from running for local authority seats in a development meant to restore competency and improve service delivery.

The Attorney-General (AG)’s office is currently drafting amendments to the Rural Districts Council Act, which seeks, among other things, to fix qualifications for those running for council office.

Among other provisions, the amendments will provide regulations for suspension and removal of councillors from office and procedures for the appointment and operations of independent tribunals.

In addition, the amendment Bill will also set guidelines for the incorporation of junior councillors into development programmes under the local authorities.

Cabinet adopted principles to the Bill in March last year.

Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo said: “We sent the principles to the AG’s office and once a draft Bill is completed, it will be sent to Cabinet.

“In terms of councillors’ qualifications, the main aim was to ensure that councillors have minimum qualifications, for example, having a tertiary education qualification.

“So, once the draft Bill is done, it will spell out exactly what the minimum qualification will be.

“We have counterparts who think the process of selecting a councillor is a popularity contest.

“However, we view it is a governance issue, one which affects a lot of issues — ranging from the provision of sanitation, creating an attractive business environment to attracting international investment.

“So, we believe that individuals running a city, town or even a rural district must be capable and have requisite skills and knowledge.”

Minister Moyo said the new regulations will, however, not be ready for the harmonised elections, scheduled for later this year.

“Given the limited time that we have before the harmonised elections, I cannot guarantee that these provisions will be used during this year’s elections,” he added.

“We want to appeal to political parties, as we go into the elections, and say these councils are critical institutions and some of them have budgets that are bigger than those appropriated to ministries.

“Running these councils is like running a ‘country’, therefore, they need to be run by people of higher intellectual calibre than what we have now.”

He said Harare was an example of how unqualified councillors can easily run down a metropolis.

“We have been witnessing some businesses relocating from Harare’s central business district (CBD) because of the prevalence of illegal activities in the CBD.

“This is actually breaking down the CBD, which will be costly to revive.”

Presently, statutes governing the election of councillors do not fix education qualifications for aspiring office holders.

Harare Residents Trust director Mr Precious Shumba said the development will enhance service delivery when councils are run by competent people.

“It is important that, as a country, we apply the same template used by most employers when they recruit their personnel,” said Mr Shumba.

“The idea is to enhance the performance and quality of institutions through recruitment of the right personnel.

“Local authorities in Zimbabwe operate under the committee system, where councillors sit and consider important policy and strategy matters.

“Essentially, all policy formulation requires the input of all stakeholders.

“Competent personnel, especially councillors, have to be literate enough to interpret and critically analyse data and make the best decisions.

Councillors, he said, must play an oversight role over council bureaucrats and “this is only possible when they have the right knowledge and experience to scrutinise documentation and even do their own counter-checking of issues.

“They also play representative and policy making roles, which are by no means trivial pursuits.”

In 2020, former Harare mayor Bernard Manyenyeni said the current crop of city fathers lack basic education qualifications and relevant skills to run the city.

Newly Launched Party Holds Elective Congress

By A Correspondent- Lion Of Praise Progressive Party (LOPP), an ambitious political outfit held its inaugural  primary elections  last weekend in Bulawayo, which also doubled as a congress for party structures and election of leaders.

LOPP was launched a year ago after its founder Washington Dhuva Chibhebhe said he was shown in a dream that he will one day lead Zimbabwe.

“The same way it happened to Noah in the Bible and people used to think he is mentally unstable. But he was receiving instructions and measurements of the ark.

“When any Christian says Jesus came into my heart, the devil doesn’t see them as a person anymore, but as a lion. So when you  keep hearing different people and prophets telling you the same thing then it’s time to start. The first time I dreamt of this was 15 years ago,” Chibhebhe said while speaking on the sidelines of the primaries.

Chibhebhe, who is also a pastor, said one does not require formal education to lead or govern a country.

“We have seen many people  with degrees and some even have Phds, but the country has collapsed into nothing. It now needs wisdom from God,” he said.

Acting party chairperson Noah Banda echoed similar sentiments.

“We are clocking 43 years of independence, but it was just political independence. The ordinary man out there is not economically independent and is unable to enjoy the actual freedom.

“So we want to bring inclusivity in terms of our national resources, job creation and housing. Things are going downhill. You can’t just give a person land simply because he is black but you need someone who can produce or at least train them and equip them with skills,” Banda said.

Fake Sangomas Dupe Widow

By A Correspondent- A Harare man has been arraigned before magistrate Dennis Mangosi on charges of blackmail after he and some accomplices pretended to be traditional healers or n’angas/sangomas to extort money and property from a bereaving widow.

Donewell Kufandirori (18) was remanded in custody and will be back in court on Monday for bail application.

His father from Chinzanga in Mutoko is a co-accused in the matter.

Allegations are that the accused and his six accomplices (still on the run) extorted the complainant (whose name was not disclosed in court) after misrepresenting themselves as n’angas.

The seven accused person allegedly threatened the complainant and her family with death if she failed to surrender all the property and cash left behind by her late husband who passed on in January 2023.

The accused persons alleged that her late husband’s wealth was accrued through the goblins they gave him before his death.

The accused persons demanded US$ 10 000 cash and two vehicles, being the property left by her late husband, failure which the complainant and family were going to die within 24 hours.

ED Allies Left Licking Wounds

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s allies were once again left licking their wounds after suffering a second humiliating defeat in the ruling Zanu-PF party primary election re-runs.

Mnangagwa had reportedly sought to breathe new life to some of his alleged allies by ordering re-runs after they had suffered defeats.

Zanu-PF held five re-runs in Zvimba West, Gokwe Nembudziya, Churu, Mbare and Insiza South after Mnangagwa called for re-runs, citing alleged violence and reports of vote rigging, resulting in several losing candidates lodging complaints.

All eyes were on Zvimba West and Gokwe Nembudziya where Mnangagwa threw in a lifeline to the political careers of his fallen allies Ziyambi Ziyambi and Justice Mayor Wadyajena who lost the initial polls.

The plan has since backfired after the duo suffered emphatic defeats with a larger margin compared to the first round.

Unconfirmed results seen by NewsDay show that Ziyambi lost to Mercy Dinha again.

Dinha reportedly garnered 6 022 votes against Ziyambi’s 2 331.

Ziyambi, who is Justice minister, this time around suffered by a massive defeat margin of 3 691 compared to less than 100 votes during the first round that was called off due to suspected violence.

This was despite the withdrawal from the re-run by another Ziyambi rival Gifford Gomwe, a few days before the poll.

Speaking after the results were announced Dinha said the electorate has the final say in politics.

“Politics, like leadership, is not for the faint-hearted. The road has been rocky, however, it has ultimately led me to a beautiful destination where l can finally serve the people of Zvimba West. The electorate has spoken loud and clear on who they want to represent them in parliament,” Dinha said.

“After all, politics is about the people, nothing but the people. I will reside among the people and address all the needs of the community at large. I shall ensure that certain urgent desires of the people are fulfilled such as water, infrastructure development which borders on the modernisation of the whole constituency, women empowerment, income-generating projects for families in Zvimba. I will also help in the renovation of schools and clinics in Zvimba West, among other things. It is my promise to the nation at large that all this and more shall be achieved in Zvimba West,” she added.

In Gokwe-Nembudziya, Wadyajena was defeated by former Cabinet minister Flora Buka.

Buka reportedly polled 5 052 votes, while Wadyajena got 3 822 votes and Buka’s comeback was reportedly backed by Zanu-PF women’s league commissar Maybe Mbowa.

“He wanted to come so that he could continue with his corrupt tendencies, but people are not fools. Mayor (Wadyajena) wanted a comeback so that he could have another chance to loot again. People of Gokwe have opened their eyes. They refuse to be oppressed by one person,” Mbowa said.

In Mbare constituency, there was speculation that Emmanuel Mahachi lost against Martin Matinyanya.  Election results for the Mbare seat were not readily available by the time of going to print.

Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said he was not in a position to comment and would only do so when given the greenlight by the party’s national political commissar Mike Bimha.

“Talk to the national political commissar, l cannot comment on that matter, unless he has grant me permission to do so”

Bimha was not picking up calls by the time of going to print.

In a related incident, Zanu-PF Makoni West aspiring candidate Moses Ruwona has since been locked up on allegations of fraud and money laundering.

Ruwona, who defeated Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services minister Jenfan Muswere in the recently held Zanu-PF primary elections before he was disqualified, has been in custody since last week.

Earlier on, Mnangagwa reportedly ignored recommendations by a Zanu-PF special ad-hoc committee that was established to deal with disputes emanating from the party’s primary elections to allegedly save his allies.

The whole Zanu-PF primary election was marred by controversies whereby various factions purportedly used dirty tactics to outwit each other as the battle to represent the party in the 2023 polls heated up.

Robert Nyemudzo, a Zanu-PF member who was aspiring to be the party’s Chipinge South candidate was disqualified after he was allegedly found to be a drug lord.

Nyemudzo was replaced by Enoch Porusingazi, the incumbent who had come second in the primaries.

Man Dumps Own Baby At Police Station

By A Correspondent- Mabvuku man was last week arraigned before magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing allegations of deliberately supplying false information to the police.

Muchazepi Samunderu (31), who was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing, allegedly told the police that he had picked up an abandoned baby, yet the baby belonged to him.

Allegations are that sometime at the end of February 2020, the accused’s wife was deployed to work in Zvishavane.

She left their one-year-and eight-months-old baby girl in the custody of the accused who neglected and ill-treated the child by taking the baby from one relative to another.

The accused also took the child to his friends, but the arrangement failed and during the same month, the accused decided to abandon the child.

He packed the child’s bags and took the child to Zimbabwe Republic Police Ruwa where he made a false reportthat he had picked an abandoned baby.

He then handed over the child and her bag of clothes to the police.  In April 2020, the mother returned and asked the accused about the whereabouts of the child.

The accused indicated that the child was with relatives.

The mother continued to ask questions, but the child could not be located.

The matter was reported to the police who unearthed what had transpired, leading to the accused’s arrest.

Churches Propose The Appointment Of A Minister Of Religion

By A Correspondent- Council for Churches in Africa (CCA) president Rocky Moyo says the country’s ruling party Zanu-PF will only win the forthcoming general elections through the help of the country’s churches.

Moyo’s congregation is among some of the most influential churches in Bulawayo.

Speaking on Saturday in Bulawayo at the ordination ceremony of Apostle Pesly Jeremiah of Joshua Generation Ministries held in Mpopoma, Moyo said: “A country will not succeed without spiritual people. For instance, when you go to England the next person to the king is the archbishop, a spiritual person and then comes the Prime Minister.

“Right now in this country we are proposing that we have a minister of religion. As long as the President continues to visit churches, this is going to happen,” Moyo said.

He said even the colonisers made use of the Bible to advance the colonialism agenda.

“And I also said if he keeps going around churches he is definitely going to get my vote because it means he recognises us as people from the religious sector.

“I am saying this because a church is an important place and it’s unfortunate you don’t see this. When we look back into our historical background, the first person to bring a Bible was [missionary John] Moffat who was working together with Cecil John Rhodes,” Moyo said.

“The fact that we ran away from politics is the reason why churches have continued to suffer together with the people.”

He said Zanu-PF must work together with churches to guarantee being voted back into power

“I promise them that if they recognise us then we will also assist them,” Moyo said.

Joshua Generation Ministries Apostle Pesly Jeremiah said he was grateful that the CCA president came to ordain him.

“We are thankful that you are a church that does not discriminate, you came all the way to my church which is still being hosted in another person’s house. We appreciate you coming all the way here,” Jeremiah said.

Mnangagwa Says He Has Accepted King Charles III Coronation Invitation

By A Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced that he has accepted an invitation to attend King Charles III coronation.

Posting on Twitter, Mnangagwa expressed excitement for the gesture shown by King Charles to invite him to such a high profile event that is likely to international attention.

“I’m most excited to announce that I have accepted an invitation to the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Yesterday I met with the British Ambassador, Melanie Robinson. We also discussed trade, investment, and the special relationship between Zimbabwe and the UK,” said Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe and United Kingdom have had frosty relations since around 2000 due to the late former leader President Robert Mugabe’s move to violently grab land from former white settlers.

UK later imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe citing human rights violations and lack of rule of law.

UK’s latest move will come as sweet news to Mnangagwa who has been on a re-engagement offensive targeting countries deemed hostile to Zimbabwe.

“We Rescued ED”: POLAD

By A Correspondent- Principals under the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) have claimed that they rescued the country from total economic collapse after the finance ministry and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe implemented recommendations made by the platform.

Polad members said after the 2018 elections, the country was heading for an economic mess and the grouping proposed a cocktail of measures to rescue Mnangagwa out of the quagmire.

Polad head of the economic thematic committee, Trust Chikohora said the economic summit in 2020 proffered solutions for the turning around of Zimbabwe’s suffocating economy.

“The economic summit unearthed real issues that were affecting our economy from stakeholders and the market. The market and stakeholders came up with their recommendations and we compiled a report and handed it to Mnangagwa for his consideration and we are glad the report was implemented,” he said.

Chikohora said Polad’s Currency Indaba held in 2022 also helped stabilise the currency.

The main thrust of the Currency Indaba was to come up with strategies to deal with issues of the currency market and tame inflation in order to achieve economic growth as spelt out in the country’s Vision 2030.

“One of the major issues raised was the government’s contracts. We realised that contractors were pushing inflation and the government revisited its agreements and inflation started to slow down. Even the issues of gold coins and interest rates were also our idea,” Chikohora said.

Another Polad member, Welcome Shumba said the grouping also helped the government by strongly advocating against sanctions.

“We are part of the people who took part in the protests against sanctions and our common position is that sanctions must go and we have been lobbying for that,” he said.

Mnangagwa gave Polad principals — a grouping of fringe political parties that lost during the 2018 general elections — an unfettered access to him, pampering them with top of the range vehicles and allowing them to conduct their meetings at some of the country’s most exclusive resorts.

Bus Overturns, Killing 2

By A Correspondent- Two people died and others were seriously injured when a bus they were travelling in overturned after the driver lost control along the Manyanda-Kariyangwe road in Binga last Friday.

The bus, which was heading towards Kariyangwe overturned and landed on its side killing two people on spot and seriously injuring a yet to be confirmed number of other people.

The driver reportedly disappeared from the scene.

Police spokesperson for Matabeleland North province Inspector Glory Banda confirmed the accident saying: “I can confirm that a road traffic accident involving a bus claimed two lives in Kariyangwe on Friday at around 1pm and soon after the accident which saw the bus overturning and landing on its side, the driver out of shock, fled the scene.

“We would like to appeal to motorists that they should exercise caution and always consider that they are carrying living souls. They have to value the sanctity of life and abide by relevant road traffic regulations and also when drivers are fatigued, it’s necessary to rest,” Banda said.

The injured were rushed to Binga District and Kariyangwe mission hospitals.

Passengers Association of Zimbabwe president Tafadzwa Goliath yesterday said they were concerned by the rising road accidents on the country’s roads.

“We are concerned by the rate at which people are losing lives due to road traffic accidents and we urge drivers to value lives. We are with the families of those who perished in Kariyangwe. May their departed souls rest in peace. To those who were injured, we wish them a quick recovery,” Goliath said.

Harare Man In Soup Over “ED Is A Failure” Slur

A HARARE man has been arrested on charges of insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa after he allegedly said the Zanu PF leader was a failure and would lose the elections expected in August this year.

Dumisani Dangirwa (43) appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Thursday and was remanded in custody pending bail application.

Prosecutors said on April 7, Dangirwa was at corner Bank Street and Cameroon Street and was heard by the complainant, a police officer, shouting that Mnangagwa was failing to run the country. He went on to say Mnangagwa would lose the elections.

The complainant identified himself as a police officer and ordered the accused to stop insulting the President.

It is alleged that Dangirwa became violent and slapped him. The court heard that Dangirwa continued pursuing the police officer saying: “wakajaidzwa munhu waMnangagwa (you are too spoiled you Mnangagwa supporter)” while shouting other 0bscenities.

ED Appoints Dr Masuka As Non Constituency Legislator

By A Correspondent- President Mnangagwa has revealed that he has exempted Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister, Dr Anxious Masuka from distractions of constituency politics to solely focus on agriculture transformation as the country moves towards food security status.

Dr Masuka will be a non-constituency legislator.

In March, the Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development ministry came out as the biggest winner in the 2022 performance evaluation results for Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials, as both the Minister, Dr Masuka, and Permanent Secretary Dr John Basera were named best performers in their respective designations.

Writing in his weekly column for The Sunday Mail and Sunday News, President Mnangagwa said Dr Masuka’s “sole focus” will be on transforming agriculture.

“As your President, my covenant with you has been to banish hunger from our land. That goal is now well in sight, what with the massive investments we continue to commit towards weather-proofed agriculture, and, of course, the sheer hard work of all our farmers, big and small,” said the President

He said this year the country will congregate for the main independence celebrations in Mt Pfura which was renamed Mt Darwin as a food-secure Nation.

“I have released Minister Anxious Masuka from distractions of constituency politics so his sole focus and sole politics relate to this one goal of transforming our agriculture for a food-secure Nation for all times. He will be a non-constituency Member of Parliament, so he has enough time to live, think and dream agriculture only,” he added.

Transforming agriculture is at the epicentre of Government’s Vision 2030, which is aimed at ensuring a prosperous upper middle-income society by 2030.

The vision embraces viability of the agriculture sector, as enshrined in the ambitious Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Strategy (2020-2025), which President Mnangagwa launched in 2020.

The strategy seeks to ensure that by 2025, Zimbabwe is food secure, with limited food imports, a country that has deepened and broadened exports of agricultural products, and created employment of up to one million jobs in the agriculture sector.

On rural industrialisation, President Mnangagwa said the drive should become the next greatest miracle Zimbabwe showcases and shares with the rest of the continent.

“This thrust must strengthen as we move into the future. Rural industrialisation should become the next greatest miracle Zimbabwe shows to, and shares with our African brethren. China did no less, and lifted millions out of poverty.

“Again, I expect more involvement of our tertiary institutions, which must engage in purposeful, community- and local resource-based research for rural industrialisation.”

Rural industrialisation, which is part of the Second Republic’s devolution agenda, involves nurturing agro-processing start-up enterprises in rural areas through financial and technological support via venture capital funding and Government agencies.

Through rural industrialisation, the Government hopes to stem rural-urban migration which saps growth from the countryside.

President Mnangagwa added that the country’s rural industrialisation drive should be a shining beacon to the rest of Africa.

Last week, the Cabinet revealed that Zimbabwe and Ethiopia are the only two African countries to achieve wheat self-sufficiency with the Government having increased the 2023 winter wheat production target to 85 000 hectares from 80 388 planted in 2022 to further solidify gains from the previous year.

Most farming activities are in the rural areas.

“Cabinet is pleased to inform the nation that during the 2022 winter cereal production season, Zimbabwe together with Ethiopia were the only countries in Africa that attained self-sufficiency in wheat, with 375 131 metric tonnes being produced, against a national requirement of 360 000 metric tonnes,” Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa said during a post-Cabinet briefing in Harare.-statemedia

Fake Payslips Drama In Court

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) soldier has been accused by his estranged wife of presenting fake payslips to court to avoid paying maintenance.

Sydwell Mutuda appeared before Harare magistrate Sharon Mashavira on Wednesday and claimed he could not afford what his ex-wife, Chido Chiwakata, was demanding.

Chiwakata wanted a court order directing Mutuda to pay US$120 up from $45 000.

However, Mutuda said he was taking home only $89 000 after deductions from his $310 000 salary.

Chiwakata pleaded with the court to grant her an opportunity to visit ZNA headquarters to obtain his true payslip.

“He is always bringing fake payslips to court,” she submitted.

“I am pleading with the court to allow me to go to his workplace to obtain an original copy of his payslip.

Mthuli Ncube Unveils Cowdray Park Development Agenda

By A Correspondent- Zanu-PF Politburo member and Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has set his Cowdray Park Development Agenda in motion with the drilling of 24 boreholes. The boreholes are part of a number of development projects that are meant to transform the lives of the people in Cowdray Park.

The boreholes are located in strategic areas around Cowdray Park and will address the issue of water shortages in the area. The water shortages are caused by the city council’s water-shedding schedule.

In addition to the boreholes, Professor Ncube has also promised to install 32 electricity transformers in Cowdray Park. The transformers will address the issue of power outages in the area.

Professor Ncube is representing ZANU-PF in the forthcoming elections in Cowdray Park constituency. He went in unchallenged in the just ended party primary elections in the newly established constituency.

The development projects that Professor Ncube is spearheading are a sign of his commitment to improving the lives of the people in Cowdray Park. The projects are also a sign of his confidence in the people of Cowdray Park.

D- Day For Mamombe’s Passport Ruling

By A Correspondent- CCC member of Parliament Joana Mamombe, who is on bail facing allegations of faking abduction with her two accomplices, wants a temporary return of her passport to travel to Kenya.

Mamombe on Friday made the application before Harare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje through her lawyer Mr Jeremiah Bhamu. Mr Mambanje is expected to rule today on this adjustment to her bail conditions.

Mamombe said she needed the passport to travel to Nairobi, Kenya for a training conference.

Mr Bhamu told the court that his client was not seeking to travel for leisure, but the training was important for her personal growth as a legislator.

However, deputy Prosecutor-General Mr Micheal Reza opposed the application saying Mamombe was going for leisure and therefore she was not fit to get temporary release of her passport.

Mr Reza said Mamombe was not part of the training management, therefore her absence at the conference would not affect anything.-statemedia

2 CCC Stalwarts Step Down

By A Correspondent- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators for Mutare Central and Mutasa Central, Innocent Gonese and Trevor Saruwaka have stepped down from contesting in this year’s polls despite being nominated.

CCC opted for a citizens-centric process to produce the party’s candidates as opposed to the traditional model of primary elections.

The process is being conducted by an independent body, Citizens’ Independent Candidate Selection Panel (CISP), which will produce the party’s contestants in the general election through four stages namely candidate nomination, candidate vetting, candidates’ caucuses and declaration of successful candidates.

In a statement, Gonese, who is one of the opposition bigwigs, said he decided to decline the nomination, and has chosen to back another nomination candidate Brian James to contest for the seat. Gonese’s decisions also come shortly after Saruwaka stepped down from contesting, a move CCC described as meaning to prove to President Emmerson Mnangagwa that power can be transferred peacefully.

“I would like to thank the people of Mutare Central for giving me the opportunity to represent them as their representative in Parliament and also for nominating me as a Candidate in the forthcoming elections,” Gonese said.

“I am also happy that the former Mutare Mayor was also nominated as a candidate and while all the names are being vetted pending further processes, such as consultations and consensus in terms of the new candidate selection procedures, I have decided to decline the nomination.”

He said there was need for new leadership and he was available to offer support for the new leaders.

“I had a fruitful discussion with James yesterday as I consider him a very worthy and deserving person to take over from me and I am pleased to advise that we are going to work together to ensure that Mutare Central remains yellow and plays its part in ensuring that we deliver maximum votes for President Chamisa and all candidates in other positions.

“There is a need for leadership renewal and passing of the baton. I will remain available to render my full support as I am a fully committed champion for change. Brian will have my full support and cooperation and let’s continue to encourage people to register to vote so that we can win big and deliver change,” added the veteran Member of Parliament (MP) who has been quite vocal in Parliament ever since he was elected into the august House in 2008 under the MDC ticket.

Speaking during a Press conference in Harare last week, CCC’s CISP spokesperson Shepard Ngandu said the candidate selection process had now entered the vetting process thus scanning candidates’ credentials and digging into candidates’ history to see if they meet the party’s democratic requirements.

Ruwona Declared Flight Risk With US$8m In Zambian Account. Bail Ruling Today

By A Correspondent- Disqualified parliamentary aspirant Moses Ruwona will be hoping for bail today after his application was contested by the public prosecutor.

Ruwona’s application was challenged on the grounds that he is a flight risk with $8 million United States dollars to his name in Zambia, money he could comfortably live off should he choose to evade the courts.

The 36 year old businessman landed himself in trouble after failing to complete a payment involving free funds amounting to nearly half a million USD.

He had promised to settle these on behalf of Liquid Telecomms and Access Finance in Mauritius and China respectively.

Ruwona’s international tourism operations span Zambia, South Africa and sub saharan Africa.

Free funds, according to the law, are funds that are lawfully accumulated by a Zimbabwean resident, earned in hard currency and limitless in terms of transaction value.

During his bail application, in a desperate attempt to deflect attention from what the Investigating Officer described as “serious offences”, Ruwona’s lawyer sought to paint the defrauded complaints, Liquid Telecom and Access Finance as complicit and having contravened exchange control regulations.

However, Zimbabwean companies are fully authorised under Statutory Instrument 85/2020 and SI 109/96 to settle offshore obligations using free funds, which Ruwona purports to have by virtue of his international tourism operations.

Last week, the court heard that after being given US$630 000 by the data services company and almost half of that amount by the Harare-based investment advisory firm which also owns Access Forex, Ruwona allegedly failed to meet his end of the bargain by remitting only a portion of the offshore monies and submitting fake proof of payments.

Ruwona is also claiming political victimisation after beating Information and Communication Technology minister Jenfan Muswere in Zanu PF’s Makoni West primary elections before being disqualified.

As the case unfolds it is expected that more will be revealed about Ruwona and his international business operations.

According to comments made by a former employee of Ruwona’s Tambwari Holdings, the disgraced Makoni West candidate allegedly has a “habit” of swindling foreign nationals who would have signed up for the hunting expeditions offered by his tour company based in Victoria Falls.

On Ruwona’s official profile on an international business platform, Ruwona describes himself as a taxidermist.

Allegations against Ruwona include that foreign nationals who would have signed up for the expeditions ended up giving into the “extortion” as a legal battle outside of their jurisdictions would end up being costly and most times “Ruwona would be holding their prized hunting trophies as ransom”.

It appears however that this time, Ruwona will have to face the full wrath of the law as the victims are local Zimbabwean companies that were operating well within the guidelines of exchange control regulations and as such did not hesitate to report the crime.

The final bail ruling is at 9am this morning.

“We Rescued The Country”: POLAD

Thabo Bester Poshed In SA Hotels Before Escape

As convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester languishes in the Kgosi Mampuru II correctional facility in Pretoria, reports have revealed that he and his girlfriend Dr Nandipha Magudumana enjoyed luxury getaways at a hotel in Bloemfontein just weeks before his escape.
Bester and Magudumana arrived back in South Africa on Thursday.

The Facebook rapist faked his own death with Magudumana’s help to facilitate the prison escape from the Mangaung Correctional Centre (MCC) in the Free State.

According to a report by The Sunday Times, the couple stayed at the Tredenham Boutique Hotel, just 25km away from the MCC in March and again in April using one of Bester’s aliases, TK Nkwana.

The Citizen last week revealed that Bester was travelling under at least 19 aliases when he brazenly escaped from the MCC, one of which was TK Nkwana.

The Sunday Times report also revealed that an invoice from the hotel, showed Bester and Magudumana stayed for four nights at the hotel checking in on Thursday, March 24 2022 and out on Monday, March 28.

However, the hotel’s owner said their booking system showed the couple had stayed a further night, checking out on Tuesday, March 29 and were back were two weeks later, checking in for one night on Wednesday, April 13.

Hotel owner Gavin Jacobson confirmed the authenticity of the invoice saying the reservations were made online through the platform booking.com.

“We have extensively questioned the staff, and no-one could recall any details around the guest(s) and if Dr Nandipha Magudumana was accompanied by anyone.”

However, several staff confirmed Bester had stayed there with Magudumana but did not know who they were at the time until police came to question management. -Citizen

Release Job Sikhala

Statement by the Citizens Coalition for Change

FREE WIWA: Sikhala has spent 305 days in pre trial detention for a crime he didn’t commit.

In a normal country, real criminals who are stealing our natural resources would have been behind bars. But sadly that can’t happen in a dictatorship country where laws are designed to protect criminals more than law-abiding citizens. #FreeWiwa #FreeSikhala- CCC

Highlanders Coach Slams Government

Highlanders coach Baltemar Brito has sensationally claimed government ordered the postponement of his side’s league match against Dynamos to prevent the Harare giants from losing.

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) ordered the postponement of the eagerly awaited clash, scheduled for Saturday at Babourfields Stadium, to allow the old foes to participate in the Independence Cup on April 18.

But Brito was not impressed by the decision, saying it was done to prevent Dynamos from losing the potentially explosive clash.

“This decision was only to protect Dynamos because they came from two draws, they have injured players and are in a bad state. We cannot runaway from this, that decision was not taken to protect football but just to protect Dynamos.,” Brito told journalists on Thursday.

“Even as it stood, they were a bit afraid of this match.

“Right now we need to respect the decision. The next game is against them but they are staying in Harare, fresh and we need to travel,” added the Portugese.- Soccer24 News

Mnangagwa Praises Traditional Leaders

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says the concerns of the community must always be advanced and their priority issues given due attention.

He said this while presiding over the installation of Mr Dambisamahubo Mafu as the new Chief Maduna in Insiza Matabeleland South province.

“Traditional leaders are a vital cog and key institutional component in development, as they nurture people-driven and grassroots innovations with regards to improving the quality of lives of communities. Chief Maduna’s rich background and wealth of experience will undoubtedly see him quickly acquainted with our national Constitution, Traditional Leaders Act and Rural District Councils Act, as some of the source documents which impact the duties and roles of traditional leaders. As we journey towards the realisation of Vision 2030, My Government is championing and promoting development programmes and projects that no one and no place is left behind.

“More importantly, as an ex-officio member of the Insiza Rural District Council, I trust that Chief Maduna’s will be a motivation and provide the requisite guidance in the implementation of initiatives under the Devolution and Decentralisation programmes. The concerns of the community must always be advanced and their priority issues are given due attention. It is through our traditional leaders that Government is brought closer to communities, to make it more accessible; responsive and accountable. This reinforces community resilience anchored by our traditional leaders, who are the custodians of our land, culture and natural resource endowments of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe. In keeping with the Whole of Government and Society Approach, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, including Rural District Councils, among other development partners, are urged to work closely with traditional leaders,” said the President.

The ceremony honouring the legacy of Chief Maduna the First, who led the Godlwayo military regiment and resisted colonial subjugation.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Zimbabwe and indeed on my own behalf, I want to congratulate the Maduna Clan on the installation of Mr Dambisamahubo Mafu as Substantive Chief Maduna. Amhlophe, Makorokoto. The Maduna Chieftainship is passed down from the father to the eldest son. It derives its roots from the Nguni tribe who migrated from South Africa in the 1850s, led by Dambisamahubo Mafu the great-great-grandfather of Chief Maduna as the Godlwayo Regiment leader. Settling first in the Malungwane area in Umzingwane,” narrated President Mnangagwa.

Mr Mafu has been acting Chief Maduna following the death of his father Chief Vezi Maduna Mafu in February 2021.

The event, which took place at Dekezi High School in Filabusi, attracted a lot of people because of its historical significance, with some of the wards in the region bringing cows to contribute to the festivities.

The installation of Mr Dambisamahubo Mafu as the new Chief Maduna has been hailed as it will ensure the continuation of the rich cultural heritage of the people.

Mr Mafu has a long history of activism and community service.

Said the President, “I commend you for the smooth and swift manner with which you handled this matter. Born in the Kaizen Godlwayo Communal Lands in Insiza, Chief Maduna is a holder of a Chartered Accounting Certificate from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration of Southern Africa and a Diploma in Education from Hillside Teachers College. He served our country in the education sector, where he taught in several schools, including at St Josephs and also worked at companies such as Netcom Solutions, World Vision South Africa, Amtec Motors and Wilsgroove Ware Pottery. He held senior managerial positions in some of these companies as Accounting Manager, as well as Finance and Human Resources Manager. Following his retirement, he is now an established farmer, here in Insiza. He has worked tirelessly to promote the welfare of the people of Godlwayo, especially in the areas of health education and economic development.”

President Mnangagwa also urged the people to rally behind his call for unity and peace during the coming general elections.

“As we approach the upcoming 2023 Harmonised General Elections, I call upon the people of Insiza, and Matabeleland South in general, to continue to say no to violence, hate speech, regionalism and tribalism. We are all Zimbabweans, united by one flag, from Plumtree to Mutare, from Beitbridge to Chirundu.”- ZBC News
