I Stole Cellphone To Raise Cash For Pregnant Wife – Church Leader

A self-proclaimed apostle from Montgomery in Bulawayo has appeared in court for stealing a cellphone.

Presiding over the case, Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda sentenced Somgoro Nkomo to 12 months in prison. Six months were suspended on the condition that he does not commit a similar crime in the next five years.

The other six months were suspended on the condition that he completes 210 hours of community service at Cement Siding Police Station.

When asked the reason why he committed the offence he said he wanted to raise money for his preg_nant wife. The court heard that on 13 June 2022, and at around 5am, Yolanda Nyoni and Nkomo boarded a commuter omnibus from Cement Siding to town, and they occupied the front seat.

Nkomo then introduced himself as Apostle Dennis and preached the word of God while Nyoni was busy on her cellphone. When they arrived in town, Nyoni then put her cellphone in her bag before disembarking along Jason Moyo Street between 3rd and 4th avenue. She then discovered that her phone had been stolen and alerted her sister Sylvia Chuma.

Nkomo’s number then showed on Sylvia’s tracking device on the same day. On 2 July 2022, Nyoni called Nkomo asking him to bring back her stolen Samsung S6 edge phone but he then sold it to Nixon Mutimba. Mutimba was contacted, and indicated that he bought the cellphone from Nkomo. This led to his arrest, and the cellphone worth $245 000 was recovered.

HH Throws Gays Under The Bus

By-The President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilem, says his administration does not support gay rights.

In a video circulating on social media, Hichillema was captured saying his party has never supported gay rights.

HH’s anti-gay attitude has been seen by many to contradict the west, which has shown support for the new Zambia President.

Dudula Declares Fresh War Against Zimbabweans

By- A xenophobic movement and self-appointed illegal immigrant watchdog in South Africa, Operation Dudula said it wanted to challenge the extension of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits by the government in court.

Zandile Dabula, national secretary-general of the movement, said it rejects the “vague” reasons behind the special advisory committee’s decision. TimesLive’s Kgaugelo Maswneng cites Dabula as saying:

Operation Dudula has instructed its attorneys to apply for ‘direct access’ to the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis, with an intent to prevent the minister of home affairs [from extending the] ZEP.

If Zimbabwean permit holders were serious about legalising their stay in SA, [they] would have taken advantage of the opportunity presented by the department of home affairs.

Failure to make representations could mean the current permit holders don’t have valid legal grounds to advance or consciously elect to ignore legalising their stay in SA.

The minister of home affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi’s behaviour is consistent with that of Dr Joe Phaahla, who instead of instructing hospitals to report illegality taking place at public hospitals elects to tell South Africans he is contemplating making lawbreakers pay for medical service

Dabula added that Operation Dudula said contravention of the Immigration Act is a criminal offence and should not be reasoned otherwise.

Home affairs recently extended ZEPs for another six months, from December 31 to June 30 2023. One reason for the extension was that the department had received few applications by Zimbabwean nationals for ordinary visas so far.

ActionSA echoed Operation Dudula’s remarks saying South Africa has been under the grip of crime, economic squeeze and unending social ills, “allegedly due to the influx of migrants and mostly by undocumented and illegal immigrants.” Added the party:

The extension of the Zimbabwean special permit to June 2023 is, therefore, a mockery of our constitutional democracy and further chips away at the autonomy of our state and its function, especially on managing our borders.

Fresh Onslaught Against Haruzivishe?

By- The magistrates’ Court in Harare has issued a warrant for the arrest of CCC activist Makomborero Haruzivishe.

The warrant of arrest was issued after the activist failed to attend court.

Haruzivishe spent 14 months in remand prison and was released in January.

He says he is facing public order offences.

Zambian Shops Reduce Prices As Kwacha Gains More Value

By James Gwati- Shops in Zambia have drastically reduced prices of essential commodities owing to the appreciation in the value of that country’s currency.

Once the worst in the world in recent years, the Zambian Kwacha last week became one of the best currencies globally.

The Kwacha has been stabilized by the coming last year of the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and its leader Hakainde Hichilema, to lead the once troubled nation.

Josepha Kalimbwe, the ruling party’s spokesperson, announced the price reduction of goods and services.

He posted on Twitter:

Shoprite has reduced the prices of hundreds of its items across Zambia due to the increasing strength of the Zambian Kwacha against the US dollar. Next we are waiting for Multi Choice & DSTV to drop prices too. Our party is leading our people into a future of untold prosperity !!

Be Patient With Us, Bamusi Pleads With Caps United Fans

CAPS United captain Phineas Bamusi has urged fans of the Green Machine to continue supporting the team in the difficult period they are in, saying it’s a phase which will hopefully pass.

Makepekepe have for the last two years been plunged into a well-documented financial crisis which has resulted in football stakeholders urging club president Farai Jere to sell it.

Lloyd Chitembwe’s charges downed tools in consecutive weeks citing outstanding salaries.

Despite the setbacks, Bamusi implored the CAPS fans to stand by the team.

“I just want to urge the fans to continue supporting the team, hopefully this phase won’t last forever and we are going to get back to the good old days,” the diminutive winger told Soccer24.

Despite the problems in the green half of the capital, CAPS fought hard despite losing to Highlanders at Babourfields before coming back from behind to force a stalemate with Herentals last week and Bamusi attributed that fighting spirit to the honor of donning the iconic green shirt.

“It always hurts to loose matches and wearing that green jersey is an extra motivation,” said Bamusi.

“Also the team has big names in our local football, so basically the other thing is to protect our names despite the hardships we are in,” added the speedy winger.

The Green Machine host Tenax at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday and Bamusi said that game is a must-win.

“We are going all out for a win. We know we are supposed to be in a better position..we want to collect the three points and see how far we can go,” he said.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Hygiene Tips For Everyone

Half of health care facilities worldwide lack basic hygiene services with water and soap or alcohol-based hand rub where patients receive care and at toilets in these facilities, according to the latest Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) report by WHO and UNICEF.

Around 3.85 billion people use these facilities, putting them at greater risk of infection, including 688 million people who receive care at facilities with no hygiene services at all.

“Hygiene facilities and practices in health care settings are non-negotiable.

Their improvement is essential to pandemic recovery, prevention and preparedness. Hygiene in health care facilities cannot be secured without increasing investments in basic measures, which include safe water, clean toilets, and safely managed health care waste,” said Dr Maria Neira, WHO Director, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health.

“I encourage Member States to step up their efforts to implement their 2019 World Health Assembly commitment to strengthen water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in health care facilities, and to monitor these efforts.”

The latest report, “Progress on WASH in health care facilities 2000–2021: special focus on WASH and infection prevention and control”, has for the first time established this global baseline on hygiene services – which assessed access at points of care as well as toilets – as more countries than ever report on critical elements of WASH services in their hospitals and other health centres. For hygiene, data are now available for 40 countries, representing 35% of the world’s population, up from 21 countries in 2020 and 14 in 2019.

The newly established global estimate reveals a clearer and more alarming picture of the state of hygiene in health care facilities. Though 68% of health care facilities had hygiene facilities at points of care, and 65% had handwashing facilities with water and soap at toilets, only 51% had both and therefore met the criteria for basic hygiene services. Furthermore, 1 in 11 (9%) of health care facilities globally have neither.

“If health care providers don’t have access to a hygiene service, patients don’t have a health care facility,” said Kelly Ann Naylor, UNICEF Director of WASH and Climate, Environment, Energy, and Disaster Risk Reduction (CEED).

“Hospitals and clinics without safe water and basic hygiene and sanitation services are a potential death trap for pregnant mothers, newborns, and children. Every year, around 670 000 newborns lose their lives to sepsis. This is a travesty – even more so as their deaths are preventable.”

The report notes that contaminated hands and environments play a significant role in pathogen transmission in health care facilities and the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

Interventions to increase access to handwashing with water and soap and environmental cleaning form the cornerstone of infection prevention and control programmes and are crucial to providing quality care, particularly for safe childbirth.
Coverage of WASH facilities is still uneven across different regions and income groupings:

Facilities in sub-Saharan Africa are lagging on hygiene services. While three-quarters (73%) of health care facilities in the region overall have alcohol-based hand rub or water and soap at points of care, only one-third (37%) have handwashing facilities with water and soap at toilets.

The vast majority (87%) of hospitals have hand hygiene facilities at points of care, compared to 68% of other healthcare facilities.
In the Least Developed Countries, only 53% of health care facilities have access on-premises to a protected water source.

To compare, the global figure is 78% with hospitals (88%) doing better than smaller health care facilities (77%), and the figure for eastern and south-eastern Asia is 90%. Globally, around 3% of health care facilities in urban areas and 11% in rural areas had no water service.

Of the countries with available data, 1 in 10 health care facilities globally had no sanitation service.

The proportion of health care facilities with no sanitation services ranged from 3% in Latin America and the Caribbean and in eastern and south-eastern Asia to 22% in sub-Saharan Africa. In the Least Developed Countries, just 1 in 5 (21%) had basic sanitation services in health care facilities.
The data further reveals that many health care facilities lack basic environmental cleaning and safe segregation and disposal of health care waste.
The report is being launched at World Water Week taking place in Stockholm, Sweden.

The annual conference, which runs from 23 August to 1 September, explores new ways to tackle humanity’s greatest challenges: from food security and health to agriculture, technology, biodiversity and climate.

High Court To Decide On Chivhu Pastor’s Challenge Against Court Fees

By A Correspondent| High Court Judges Justice Owen Tagu and Justice Rogers Manyangadze will on 6 September 2022 hear and make a determination on an application filed by a Zimbabwean clergyman Pastor Abinel Mukaro, who is challenging the exorbitant levying of court user fees, which has the effect of impeding him from accessing justice.

On 8 February 2022, the Chivhu-based Pastor Mukaro dragged Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi and Attorney-General Advocate Prince Machaya to the High Court seeking an order to set aside and declare as unconstitutional the requirement to pay a 1% commission to the Registrar of the High Court.

Pastor Mukaro had the misfortune of being advised that he should pay the Registrar of the High Court 1% of US$73 500, which is the amount that he was claiming and which amounted to US$7 350 for service of summons in which he in October 2021 sued Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe, Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga and Detective Steven Dondo for causing the death of his wife Sharai Mukaro. Sharai died in September 2021 from injuries sustained as a result of the severe assault and torture inflicted upon her by Dondo and other ZRP officers in a “Darkroom” at Chivhu Police Station, where she was detained after being accused of stealing US$1 000.

In the application, Pastor Mukaro, who is represented by Sarudzayi Njerere of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), argued that requiring him to pay 1% of the total amount that he is claiming in a legal action resulting from the death of her wife infringes and deprives him of his right to equal benefit of the law.

The clergyman argued that allowing the Registrar of the High Court to charge a commission on a claim, has the effect of shutting out poor litigants out of court and it makes justice a commodity that can only be accessed by those with deep pockets.

Pastor Mukaro wants the High Court to declare Item 2 of the High Court (Fees) (Civil Cases) Regulations, 1992 published in the High Court (Fees) (Civil Cases) (Amendment) Rules, 2020 (No.11) Statutory Instrument 221 of 2020 as unconstitutional as it infringes his right to equal benefit from the law as guaranteed in section 56(1) of the Constitution as well as his right of access to the courts as provided in section 69(3) of the Constitution.

Already, Chivhu Magistrate Henry Sande has faulted some ZRP officers and ruled that foul play could have been committed which led to the death of Sharai.

This came after Magistrate Sande presided over an inquest to establish the cause of death of Sharai, which was only instituted after the Mukaro family lawyer Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of ZLHR, initiated legal proceedings.

Magistrate Sande ruled that there is a likelihood that the late Sharai was assaulted by some police officers based at the Criminal Investigations Department at ZRP Chivhu Police Station.

Drogba To Visit Zimbabwe

Ivory Coast football legend Didier Drogba has followed up on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s tweet after their meeting in Rwanda by confirming that he will be visiting Zimbabwe.

Social media was awash with pictures of Mnangagwa and Drogba with Zimbabweans expressing mixed feelings.

Political commentator Jealousy Mawarire has mocked Mnangagwa saying the Zimbabwe leader is obsessed with having photos with successful people.

“Madiro anoita vaMnangagwa kutogwa mapikicha nevanhu kunotaridza kuti ivo munhu nje asinawo chaakaita muupenyu arikutsvaga mbiri nekuzvikwanisa-kwanisa pese pese. I haven’t seen any president, anywhere akafumuka sababa ava,” said Mawarire.

Muskwe Scores On His Debut

Zimbabwean forward, Admiral Muskwe has scored on his first appearance for Fleetwood in the League One encounter against Wycombe Wanderers.

Muskwe who joined the Cods on a season-long loan deal from Luton Town on Thursday, struck home in the 67th minute after he picked a deflected ball and sent it in. The effort cancelled out Wanderers’ first half lead secured through Anis Mehmeti.

The 24-year-old started in the game and played the full 90 minutes.

Former G40 Leaders Remember Mugabe

Former Zanu PF leaders who were expelled following the November 2017 military coup have remember the late founding President Robert Mugabe who died on 6 September 2019 at a hospital in Singapore.

Saviour Kasukuwere who was the party National Commissar said he will not betray the people of Zimbabwe by moving away from the teachings and directions he learnt from Mugabe.

Savior Kasukuwere: We remember the founding father, liberator, educationist and leader, President Mugabe. Today, 3 years ago you were promoted to glory. The teachings and direction you gave us remain unmatched. We will not betray you and indeed our great people of Zimbabwe. The marathon continues.

Jealousy Mawarire had this to say: On this day,the 6th of September, three years ago, President Mugabe left us. U fought your fight Gushungo, continue resting in peace, your inspiration, unwavering stand on priciples & tenacity to resist colonial subjugation drives us, it’s a legacy you left us with. Zim Man Tortured By Botswana Police

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean man, Prosper Mabureki, is claiming unlawful detention and harassment at the hands of Botswana police over a crime that he did not commit.

Mabureki told the media that he was repeatedly tortured while his phone was confiscated during his 48-hour detention on July 18 and 19, 2022.

His crime was being a friend to one of the gang members arrested by Botswana police on armed robbery allegations.

“I am guilty by association,” Mabureki said, who has all the legal paperwork needed to live in Botswana.

Mabureki’s troubles came after the arrest of four Zimbabwean nationals on July 17, 2022 in Tatisiding.

Police in Botswana had arrested the quartet, Donald Casper Sibanda (38), Leaviet Ian Ndlovu (32), Rodrick Mutaurwa and Michelle Monica Mangisi (21) following a raid at a house.

They found two unlicensed guns and live ammunition.

The three men were later be charged for a robbery that took place in Francistown on March 18, 2022.

Mabureki told the media that when police found his contacts on one of the suspects’ phones, they tracked him down to his house in Tatisiding.

“I wasn’t home. They found my wife, who gave them my number and eventually I reported to the police. When I arrived, they immediately handcuffed me because I had admitted knowing Rodrick.

“I could not deny knowing him because I do. I don’t necessarily subscribe to his life choices, but he’s my homeboy and family friend,” Mabureki said.

Relating his 48-hour ordeal inside the cell, Mabureki said the police accused him of having played a part in the crimes committed by the quartet.

Francistown Central Police Station commander, Lebalang Maniki told the media that he was not aware of the matter.

Johanne Masowe Canvassing Support For Mnangagwa

Johanne Masowe Wechishanu WeAfrica International Church leader Andby Makururu is moving around the country encouraging his members to vote for the ruling Zanu-PF party in elections expected next year.

Makururu, who recently met President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House, is currently in Penhalonga, Mutasa South constituency in Manicaland province hosting a four-day church gathering.

Mnangagwa was set to visit the constituency on a thank you mission last week after the party’s candidate Misheck Mugadza won in the March 26 by-elections.

The visit was, however, postponed yesterday as he is hosting Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who officially opened the Zimbabwe Agriculture Show in Harare on Friday.

In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, Makururu said he was moving around the country urging his church members to register and vote for the ruling party.

“I am moving around urging my church members to register to vote ahead of next year’s elections. I think everyone is very aware that I have since pledged to my President Emmerson Mnangagwa that my church members are going to vote for him.

“Currently, I am having a church gathering in Penhalonga, Mutasa South constituency, where I am preaching the word of God,” he said.

The church leader predicted Mugadza’s win during his church’s 37th anniversary celebrations held at Mutare Show Grounds this year.

The anniversary coincided with Makururu’s birthday celebrations.

Mugadza, who attended the anniversary clad in a white garment, was ordered by Makururu to walk to the centre of Mutare Show Grounds and everyone was commandeered to point at him.

He defeated Citizens Coalition for Change’s Regai Tsunga.

Mnangagwa Shields Zanu PF Thieves

By James Gwati- The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed that they are people using President Emerson Mnangagwa and his wife Auxilia to commit crimes.

The use of Mnangagwa’s name can only be done by Zanu PF officials, not ordinary people, and ZRP failing to name these individuals says a lot.

Queen To Anoint New UK Prime Minister

By- Liz Truss was yesterday crowned victor of the Conservative leadership contest and the country’s next prime minister.

Today, Boris Johnson and the new leader of the Conservative Party will travel to Balmoral to meet the Queen for the official handover.

The Queen will officially appoint the next prime minister shortly after seeing Mr Johnson.

Usually, a new prime minister is invited to Buckingham Palace to be appointed by the Queen, but in a break from tradition this year, Her Majesty is staying in Scotland.

The new prime minister will then travel back from Balmoral to London before making their first speech in Downing Street as PM.

It is thought that Mr Johnson could make a farewell speech outside Number 10 on Tuesday morning before travelling up to Balmoral to see the Queen.

From Tuesday afternoon into the evening, it is expected that the new leader will begin to appoint their top government team.

This will include roles such as foreign secretary, chancellor, home secretary and business secretary.

The new prime minister is also likely to receive phone calls from other world leaders congratulating them on their appointment.

They may also make their first calls to their foreign counterparts. Ms Truss has said her first correspondence would be with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is thought that the new prime minister could hold their first cabinet meeting having appointed their top team.

The main topic of conversation is likely to be the ongoing cost of living crisis, with the next leader of the country under growing pressure to intervene to ease the burden of spiralling energy costs as quickly as possible.

At midday, the new prime minister will take part in their first session of Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons – coming face-to-face with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.

Boris Johnson could watch on from the Conservative backbenches along with his predecessor Theresa May.

During the remainder of Wednesday afternoon, it is expected that the new prime minister will continue to make ministerial appointments until all roles within the government departments are filled.

It is also likely that the PM will have more phone calls with their foreign counterparts.-SkyNews/The Herald

700 Children Die Of Measles

By- Health experts are calling for mandatory Measles Vaccination to save children’s lives as the death toll nears 700, with almost 100 cases recorded daily.

The government has been urged to intervene and ensure every child is vaccinated, especially among the apostolic sects where a high number of children are not vaccinated.

Dr Johannes Marisa, Public health expert, told the state media:

We have noted with concern that the number of Measles cases skyrocketing. The outbreak is coming from a number of factors, the first one is coming from unvaccinated children. Zimbabwe used to have a 90% vaccination coverage, but there are a lot of challenges we are facing at the moment. The first one being that there are some religious sects especially apostolic sects who are shunning the vaccination drive, who are against all sorts of vaccination taking place so this is putting everyone at risk. We would like to urge everyone to take their children for vaccination against Measles. Can all religious sects follow what is supposed to be done. For public health measures to be fully functional and operational sometimes we may need even legislation, a piece of legislation to force everyone to do the right thing Vaccination should be mandatory for everyone.

Dr Amos Marume, Harare Institute of Public Health Principal, told ZBC Newsechoed Marisa’s remarks adding that the vaccine is the only prevention children need.

Of the 6 291 cases reported nationwide, 3 009 are coming from Manicaland, accounting for almost 50 per cent of the cases and deaths.

Mnangagwa Can’t Win Without Killing Citizens

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

Against All Odds: CCC VICTORY IN BULILIMA

The Citizens’ movement as led by President Chamisa walloped zanu pf in Bulilima yesterday.

We thank the Citizens for this great show of support and empathic endorsement for the Democratic Alternative (CCC).

We won against all odds!
We went into the by-election with our hands tied on our back but we gave a fight.

The environment was not fair and neither was the process free. Zanu violated the Electoral Act with impunity while the electoral referee ZEC just watched in silence. However, in the 2 wards we won, the citizens said enough is enough!

We saw the deployment of violence, abuse of traditional leaders, assisted voters scandal but we still won!

It is clear to all that zanu pf cannot win any election without resorting to violence, abusing the assisted voters’ provision in the electoral law, vote buying, intimidation & using traditional leaders as its commissars and weapons of instilling fear in peace loving citizens.

We can’t congratulate fraud, forgery and corruption. ZEC must be independent, impartial and a fair referee.

We won not because the conditions are favorable but because we overwhelmed the unfair conditions through massive Citizens participation.

The people of Bulilima have taught us that it is possible to defeat zanu pf by remaining resolute and unshakable in tje face of a thuggish regime that abuse the law with impunity.

That despite heavy weaponization of food aid, in rural areas, this dictatorship can be defeated if proper community based mobilisation & people centered candidates are at the center of the strategy mix.

Bulilima debunked the fallacy and myth that rural areas belong to zanu. No they belong to the people who from Zambezi-Limpopo, Nyamapanda-Manica are all yearning for transformative change that is epitomised the CCC.

Zanu pf “wins” in the countryside because they resort to violence, harvest of fear and electoral malpractices to secure a vote. This can be defeated as the people of Bulilima have shown us.

This to us is a confirmation that, no force can stop an idea whose time have come. The idea of transformative change is unstoppable. Change that is dynamic. Change that is inclusive. Change that is organic.

Thank you Bulilima. We promise that your councilors will lead diligently and courageously.

For and on behalf of the Citizens Movement

Comrade Ostallos.

The games were professionally conducted with an experience ampiring instilling order and discipline. Attendees were treated to some refreshments by the councillor. Rocky Kamuzonda also took this time to meet residents who were fetching water at the tanks one on one consulting them on what needs to be done in as much as service delivery is concerned.

Several CCC party members came through to support and watch the event from all other Masvingo Urban wards. The Event organizer K Mago popularly known as T Pain expressed joy of success , he said “We managed to identify unregistered youths whom we are going to transport for registration at Zec offices.” In his speech Ward 3 councillor Rocky Kamuzonda promised to hold more activities targeting youths so that they don’t fall prey into drug abuse and criminal activities. He also said he has a bag programs ahead and residents should look forward for an educative and entertaining schedule for the youths and residents in general.

Kenya’s Supreme Court Throws Baba Under The Bus

By James Gwati- The Supreme Court in Kenya has dismissed a petition by Kenya’s former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, challenging William Ruto’s election in the August 9th presidential election.

In a statement, Odinga, in response to the judgment, the former PM said he vehemently disagreed with the court’s opinion.

Reads the statement:

We have taken note of the decision of the Supreme Court on the Presidential election held on August 9th, 2022. We have always stood for the rule of law and the constitution. In this regard, we respect the opinion of the court although we vehemently disagree with their decision today.

Our lawyers proffered irrefutable evidence and the facts were on our side, unfortunately, the judges saw it otherwise. We find it incredible that the judges found against us on all nine (9) grounds and occasion resulted to unduly exaggerated language to refute our claims.

This judgement is by no means the end of our movement, in fact it inspires us to redouble our efforts to transform this country into a prosperous democracy where each and every Kenyan can find their full belonging. We thank our supporters and Kenyans across the country for standing with us. We will be communicating in the near future on our plans to continue our struggle for transparency, accountability and democracy.

God bless you and God bless Kenya!

McCarthy Revives Red Devils

Football fans have taken to social media to shower Benni McCarthy with praise, saying the South African coach has played a big role in the resurgence of Manchester United.

The former Bafana Bafana star was a surprise inclusion in Erik Ten Hag’s backroom staff when the Dutchman took over at Old Trafford.

McCarthy is the strikers coach at United, who have now won four games on the trot after a shaky start to the season.

Fans took to microblogging site Twitter last night after the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory over early pacesetters Arsenal and heaped praise on McCarthy for his ‘decisive role’ in the resurgence.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Kadewere Adjusts To Life At Real Mallorca

Admiral Muskwe scored on his first appearance for Fleetwood in the League One encounter against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The Zimbabwean forward, who joined the Cods on a season-long loan deal from Luton Town on Thursday, struck home in the 67th minute after he picked a deflected ball and sent it in. The effort cancelled out Wanderers’ first half lead secured through Anis Mehmeti.

The 24-year-old started in the game and played the full ninety minutes.

He was booked for a crude challenge on an opponent.

Still in the League One, Brandon Galloway made his forth successive start in Plymouth Argyle’s come-from-behind 3-2 win over Derby.

Galloway featured as a centre-back in a 3-4-2-1 formation and made an error that led to Derby’s first goal.

He was subbed after the 75th minute as the coach made tactical changes.

Wigan Athletic’s Tendayi Darikwa didn’t play due to a shoulder injury, while Marvelous Nakamba missed another Aston Villa game.

Nakamba has not featured for the Claret and Blue this season.

He made Steven Gerrard’s match day squad only twice this season.

The midfielder is said to have held talks with the former England international over lack of game time.

Fellow countryman in the English top flight, Jordan Zemura made another successive start and played a blinder in the first half as Bournemouth beat Nottingham Forest 3-2.

Zemura was surprisingly subbed off on the half-time as the coach made changes to the team.

Marshall Munetsi featured for full ninety minutes in Stade de Reims’ 1-1 draw against Lens in the French Ligue 1.

Teenage Hadebe returned from injury after three weeks, coming on as a second half substitute in Houston Dynamo’s 2-1 loss at Seattle Sounders in the American MLS.

Tinotenda Kadewere’s La Liga debut was delayed after the player was not included in Real Mallorca’s matchday squad for the Matchday 4 encounter against Girona.

The Warriors striker made history last week by becoming the first Zimbabwean player to join a Spanish top-flight club after moving to Real Mallorca on a season-long loan deal from French side Lyon.

Kadewere trained with his new team for the first time on Wednesday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

DeMbare Edge Harare City

Dynamos returned to winning ways following their 2-1 victory over Harare City in Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 26 on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys had dropped points in the previous round after drawing against ZPC Kariba.

Ralph Kawondera opened the scoring for the hosts in the 14th minute, pouncing on a rebound off Godknows Murwira’s free kick.

City leveled the terms courtesy of Donald Mudadi’s effort on the 27th minute.

However, Dembare restored their lead towards the end of the first half through Emmanuel Paga.

The result put Dynamos on 49 points, six behind table toppers FC Platinum.

Harare City, on the other hand, remained in the relegation zone in 16th place with twenty-three points.

Elsewhere, Perfect Chikwende’s solitary strike helped Bulawayo Chiefs to a 1-0 victory over Black Rhinos.

ZPC Kariba beat Tenax 2-0, while Triangle United cruised to a 3-0 win against Bulawayo City.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Chitembwe Unhappy With Herentals Draw

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe expressed disappointment after his side failed to collect maximum points against Herentals on Saturday.

The Green Machine had to come from behind and settle for a 1-1 draw.

The Harare giants conceded on minute 32 through Tafadzwa Jim’s header after a slow start to the half.

An improved second half performance saw them dominating the pace but failed to secure a breakthrough until the 83rd minute courtesy of Clive Rupiya’s effort.

CAPS also got a penalty just moments before the goal after Godfrey Mukambi brought down William Manondo inside the box but Devon Chafa was denied by the keeper.

Reflecting on the outcome, Chitembwe believed his charges should have responded with zeal, having missed a few days of training due to a player strike.

The gaffer said: “The response could have been better considering that we missed three days of training.

“It is a case of three missed points, and we had better opportunities than them. That penalty miss could have changed the game.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Basic Hygiene Tips

Diaspora Force To Remove Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri|President Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has appealed to millions of Zimbabweans in South Africa to return home for the purpose of registering to vote.

In a statement, CCC deputy spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, bemoaned the harassment of Zimbabweans in South Africa.

Read Siziba’s statement:

Someone sent us this flyer he picked next to his house this morning.

It’s a flyer from Change Champions in Alex park, South Africa.

Given the circumstances facing our people in South Africa- the solution is for us to come back home and fix our country.

Diaspora is such a powerful force.

More than 2 million Zimbabweans are in South Africa because of the economic and political situation in our country.

They’re treated like second class citizens.

The solution is resolving the governance crisis in our own country by voting the Mnangagwa regime out!

Thank you Citizens in Alex for spreading the word.

Zanu PF Can’t Win Without Killing Citizens

Emmerson Mnangagwa Cringes Under Bulilima Defeat

Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa says the citizens’ struggle is unstoppable.

Said President Chamisa:

Harare Pre-Budget Meetings Marred By Poor Turnout

City of Harare pre-budget consultative meetings have been marred by poor turn out prompting the city officials to re-schedule the meetings.

In Mufakose Ward 34, the meeting which was held Saturday 3 September at Area “A” Community Hall only saw 16 people attending. The low turnout saw the City officials, Councilor and residents agreeing to postpone the meeting to the 11th of September 2022.

On the other hand, in Highfields Ward 26 fifty-six (56) people attended yesterday’s meeting. Residents attributed the low turn out to back to school preparations, agricultural show and timetables that are not sensitive to religious practices.

“You cannot have a meeting on a Sunday and expect full participation, everyone knows that Sunday is a church day,” said a Highfields resident after the meeting.

Meanwhile the Combined Harare Residents Association will soon embark on a mobilization drive for the Budget Consultative Meetings this week in a bid to ensure representation of issues and full participation of residents at the budget meetings.

CHRA encourages all residents to participate at the pre-budget consultative meetings in their respective Wards, as the budget processes are key in determining service delivery priorities and scrutinize council expenditure towards service provision.

BREAKING: William Ruto Declared 5th Kenyan President

Kenya Supreme Court has upheld the election of William Ruto as country’s fifth president throwing out Raila Odinga’s petition.

ZEC Commits To Address Complaints Over Nomination Fees

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) says it will address complaints raised by political parties and individuals on the recent increase in nomination and accreditation fees.

Zec recently amended Statutory Instrument 53 of 2014 to declare the cost of fielding a presidential candidate was now US$20 000 up from US$1 000,US$1 000 from US$50 for aspiring legislators, US$200 from US$100 for senators and councillors from US$50 to US$100.

This raised concerns that the fee structure will block potential candidates from participating in future elections.

Some opposition political parties and aspiring candidates have protested against the electoral management body’s decision.

Obey Shava wrote a letter on behalf of Harare North legislator Allan Markham protesting against the increases, while opposition figure Egypt Dzinemunhenzva has also taken a legal route.

Zec deputy commissioner Rodney Kiwa told Shava that the election management body will soon meet to consider the complaints and requests.

“The contents thereof have been noted, we shall revert to you once the matter has been deliberated upon by the full commission,” Kiwa said.

With the new fees, some political parties have expressed fears that they may fail to participate in next year’s elections.

Gweru Councillors Block Mnangagwa’s Freedom Of The City Award

City of Gweru councillors are locked in a bitter fight over honouring President Emmerson Mnangagwa with a ‘Freedom of the City’ award.

Mayor, Hamutendi Kombayi (MDC-T) has been pushing to have the Zanu-PF leader granted the status but the move has been blocked by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors.

Councillor Josiah Makombe, who is a former mayor, is among the lead opponents of the proposal, arguing that Mnangagwa “is not worthy of any recognition as he has run the country down”.

“The mayor and councillors from MDC-T wanted to give ‘Freedom of the City’ to Mnangagwa which we resisted. We resisted it on the basis that as a community, as a city, and as citizens of Gweru, there is nothing to emulate in Mnangagwa’s leadership,” said Makombe.

“Mnangagwa has not done anything that is worthy for the citizens. Anyone who is given the freedom award would have served exceptionally in that city.

“The accolade is an honour given to that kind of person and to us there is nothing tangible which Mnangagwa has done that points to him as having done something for the people of Gweru,” he said.

The ex-CCC mayor added that the city was battling serious service delivery challenges, among them water shortages, potholed roads and uncollected garbage.

“In terms of service provision, there is nothing,” he argued.

“We are one of the worst cities in terms of refuse removal. He (Mnangagwa) is the one presiding over the economy which is bad, he is the one presiding over the country where people are suffering,” he said.

Mnangagwa hails from Midlands and regarded as the provincial godfather.

Masisi Slammed Over Anti Sanctions Remarks In Zim

Opposition Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has slammed President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s blind calls for scrapping of sanctions imposed against Zimbabwe by the west while ignoring what brought the measures in the first place.

Addressing hundreds of Zanu PF supporters who thronged the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport to welcome him and his entourage Thursday, Masisi demanded the scrapping of sanctions which he said were tantamount to an act of sanctions against his own country.

The Botswana leader, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his side, said, verbatim: “Botswana continues to call for the removal of sanctions against Zimbabwe… We just came from our elective congress, and ZANU PF was represented very well…. The two ruling parties have relations, we are friends.”

However, his comments were received with consternation by opponents back home, who chastised their state leader for allegedly forgetting he was in fact on a state visit to Zimbabwe.

In a hard hitting statement Sunday, BCP Information and Publicity Secretary Mpho M. Pheko said his party was surprised at the partisan nature of Masisi’s welcome.

Read BCP Full Statement Below;

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) is concerned by the insidious comments made by President Mokgweetsi Masisi during his recent State Visit to Zimbabwe.

Our indignation is resultant from President Masisi’s irresponsible commentary which utterly disregards the prevailing political and economic situation engulfing our neighbors.

The following are his words, captured verbatim: “Botswana continues to call for the removal of sanctions against Zimbabwe… We just came from our elective congress, and ZANU PF was represented very well…. The two ruling parties have relations, we are friends.”

President Masisi’s visit to Zimbabwe was a State visit, the BCP is therefore surprised at the partisan nature of his welcome, which is a foreign practice in the conduct of international relations, especially those of a sovereign nation.

President Masisi’s attempt to absolve ZANU PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa from the Zimbabwean crisis is not only an affront and insult to the suffering people of Zimbabwe, but it is also an attempt to revise history in the most deceptive way. It is similar to convincing us that Idi Amin was an honorable man.

The fact is, the sanctions are only targeted at designated people in Zimbabwe, who are key members of the Mugabe regime, including Mnangagwa. How this affects the economy of Zimbabwe is yet to be explained. President Masisi must confide in Batswana before he tells the world that he speaks on their behalf.

We call upon the Government of Zimbabwe to introduce the necessary reforms that will allow for true democracy to thrive.

Repression of political opponents and intimidation of those that challenge the ZANU PF regime should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Instead of focusing on President Mnangagwa’s personal problem of sanctions, we pray the two must provide economic reliefs to Zimbabweans at home to scale down economic migrants in other countries.

Mnangagwa must stop repressive actions against citizens of Zimbabwe whose only crime is to offer alternative voice and express their democratic rights.

Provide a solution to the continuing cases of cattle rustling between the two countries. (Also required is) for the two to deliberate on democratic reforms that among others, would allow Zimbabweans in diaspora to participate in their country’s electoral processes, without having to cross borders.

The BCP believes that Zimbabwe can be better, and while the economic situation in Zimbabwe has trickle-down effect down south, blaming targeted sanctions, without resolving the above points, is not in the interest of an ordinary Zimbabwean.

Having noticed decline of democracy and the disregard of the rule of law in Botswana under the BDP government, the BCP hopes that the budding friendship between BDP and ZANU PF will not further undermine democracy in the two countries.

Yours Comradely,

Mpho M. Pheko

BCP Information and Publicity Secretary

ZOCC Sets Up Provincial Structures- 25 Members Elected

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Online Content Creators (ZOCC) has successfully established provincial structures after 25 members were elected to represent the association across the country’s 10 provinces.

According to article 1, section 4 of the ZOCC constitution, the provinces are called chapters and are defined by the geographical landscapes.

The 25 members were elected and endorsed to represent five (5) chapters – Northern, Southern, Eastern, Midlands and Central chapters as enshrined in the association’s constitution.

Meanwhile, Harare content creators are however not part of the chapter leadership due to their huge numbers and local influence, hence can only be represented in the upcoming national executive election, while Chitungwiza and areas around are represented under the central chapter.

These chapters cover the whole nation and are mandated to drive the interest of all members (both existing and potential) towards growth, capacitation and strengthening of the association.

This democratic gesture is aimed at achieving our internal devolution of power which gives full autonomy to various chapter leadership, to make key decisions affecting their areas of influence.

The chapters’ leadership are also mandated to recruit, capacitate and support local membership as they feed into the national structures.

As part of its mandate to capacitate its membership, ZOCC will in the coming weeks host the first chapter training under UNESCO and another joint partnership with Postal and Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) at national level.

These will kickstart many upcoming programs which will be focusing on professionalizing and capacitating all members of the association across the nation.

ZOCC is an association comprised of more than 180 active online content creators who have ultimate copyrights to their content. These include bloggers, vloggers and Social Media practitioners animators and digital creatives who are guided by a digital media code of ethics, which they all must abide to.

Sikhala Poisoned In Remand Prison

By- Prison officials Sunday invited the family of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Job Sikhala at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, asking for urgent help over suspected poisoning in his prison cell.

Sikhala, who has been arrested on several occasions, was said to be vomiting and the prison officials summoned the legislator’s family to bring a private doctor for urgent treatment.
The Zengeza West legislator’s aide Frederick Masarirevhu told NewsDay that Sikhala’s wife was called by prison officials over a suspected case of poisoning.
“It’s true, Sikhala is not okay. I spoke with his wife and she informed me that the legislator has been vomiting and we are in touch with doctors for urgent assistance.
“Mrs Sikhala is currently on her way to Chikurubi Maximum Prison and a team of doctors is expected to follow. This is surprising considering that I had an hour-long conversation with him on Saturday. From what I hear, he is not in good shape and we wait to hear the exact condition from the medical team,” Masarirevhu said.
Sikhala’s lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa confirmed the incident, but said she was out of the country.
No further information was made available at the time of going to print.
“That is what I have been told, but I have not seen him because I am out of the country,” Mtetwa said.

NewsDay contacted the ZPCS officials who failed to respond by the time of going to print.
Sikhala, who is the CCC vice-national chairperson, human rights lawyer and legislator, was arrested on June 14 after violence broke out in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza, during the funeral wake of Moreblessing Ali, a CCC activist who was killed by a suspected Zanu PF activist, Pius Mukandi Jamba.
Sikhala is in prison for allegedly inciting unrest and defeating the course of justice.
The State alleges that he posted a video on social media that was intended at misleading the police who were investigating the death of Ali.
He was arrested alongside Godfrey Sithole, a CCC MP for Chitungwiza North and 13 party activists.
The charge of obstructing the course of justice were levelled against him when he was already in remand prison.
He has applied for bail five times without success.

Malema Intensifies Pro-Zimbabwe Support Campaign

By- The Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema, has told party members to avoid becoming part of the narrative that Zimbabwean nationals are stealing jobs from South Africans.

Speaking at an EFF provincial conference in Klerksdorp, North West, on Sunday, Malema said EFF members should focus on the land issue and occupy strategic economic positions instead of yearning to be employed by white people. Said Malema:
Today, you are fighting with Zimbabweans. You are all fighting to be negros. You are fighting to work for a white man.
You are not fighting for the land. All of you to join forces together against Zimbabweans. What’s wrong? No, they are taking our jobs. Why? Because you want to be workers.
You don’t want to be the owners of strategic sectors of the economy. All you are fighting for is jobs. Who is going to give you these jobs? It’s a white man.
You are all fighting to work for a white man and you are proud of fighting to work for a white man. Why should you fight people for jobs?
We should fight people for the land and that we want our land because, with our land, we will not be workers.
We will be the owners of the land and we will produce for ourselves and for all.
Malema’s speech comes after Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi granted Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) another six months to regularise their stay in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Operation Dudula, an anti-immigrant group in South Africa, said the extension of ZEPs is an insult to South Africans.
Operation Dudula’s Kwena Molekwa said they can’t continue to feel sorry for Zimbabweans considering that almost half of South Africans are unemployed.

Structureless CCC Defeats Zanu PF

Yesterday, structureless Citizens Coalition for Change heavily defeated structured Zanu PF in Bulilima by elections

As Zanu PF cabinet members bus Zanu PF supporters to vote in Bulilima by elections

As Highfield East CCC members celebrate victory against Zanu PF

4 September 2022

Wezhira Munya

Zanu PF lost in Bulilima for the first time since 1980. Under able leadership of President Chamisa CCC break Zanu PF dominance in Bulilima.

Popular President Chamisa’s party Citizens Coalition for Change defeated Zanu PF and other parties in Bulilima by elections yesterday.

Congratulations , Amhlope and Makorokoto to CCC.

President Chamisa has congratulated CCC candidates , CCC supporters and voters in Bulilima for winning yesterday by elections.

Dr. Thokozani Khupe, ward 4 Bulawayo urban councillor Anorld Batsirai Dube and other CCC leaders who were leading mugwazo and campaign in Bulilima deserve great appreciation for a job well done for working hard to defeat Zanu PF in rural Bulilima.

Also, Bulilima CCC leaders did a super job for mobilizing and recruiting people to vote for CCC.

All Bulilima voting stations had vigilant CCC election agents who protected votes.

In yesterday’s by elections Citizens Coalition for Change won 2 wards out of three and Zanu PF won one ward.

Following are the elections results duly announced by ZEC:
ward 16 won by CCC female candidate Moyo Makhadi with 131 votes, defeating Zanu PF candidate Moyo Jane 118votes and Ncube Hitman ZAPU with 34 votes. 50, 35% voted in this by election.

Ward 1, was also won by President Chamisa’s party. CCC candidate Ephraim Moyo won with 385 votes defeating Zanu PF candidate Ndlovu K. Phapha with 315 votes, Moyo Dalton of PPP with 12 votes and Nyoni Lindiwe with 7 votes.

50, 80% total votes casted.

Lastly, Zanu PF won ward 14: Dube Experience with 459 defeating CCC candidate Moyo Ephraim with 332 votes and Moyo Linos ZAPU with 18 votes.

53, 24% voted.

Zanu PF lost ward 16 for the first time since 1980 to opposition. CCC candidate Moyo Makhadi broke 42year history by win this ward.

This is a great loss to Zanu PF because in 2018 Zanu PF won these three wards.

It’s Citizens Coalition for Change 2 and Zanu PF 1.

The narrative that rural areas are Zanu PF stronghold was nullified yesterday after Bulilima rural voters rejected Zanu PF president Mnagangwa and his Zanu PF candidates.

Yesterday Zanu PF cabinet ministers Evelyn Ndlovu and Dingumi Phuti tried to rig by elections through busing people to vote at Malalume Secondary School. Interestingly, the bused voters end up voting for Citizens Coalition for Change candidates.

Zanu PF cannot win elections without using violence. In Bulilima there was no violence and Zanu PF lost. Contrary in Gokwe- Kabuyini Zanu PF used violence to win this parliamentary seat few weeks ago.

The once mighty MDC T party under Mwonzora failed to field candidates in Bulilima. Mwonzora has presided the death of MDC T party that defeated Mugabe in 2008. MDC T is now a laughing stock under Mwonzora.

On the other story, CCC winning Highfield East Member of Parliament Eric Murai and Highfield East CCC members are holding by election victory celebrations in Zimbabwe Grounds today.

Hon Eric Murai and CCC councillors defeated Zanu PF in March 2022 by elections.

Botswana Police Tortured Me

A Zimbabwe man, Prosper Mabureki, is claiming unlawful detention and harassment at the hands of Botswana police over a crime that he did not commit.

-Newsday

Magistrate Jailed Over USD20

Former Karoi magistrate Amanda Muridzo and clerk of court Shelter Kachirika have each been sentenced to an effective one year in prison after they were convicted of taking a US$20 bribe to tilt a maintenance claim in favour of a defendant.
The defendant, David Mazowi, will join them in prison for an effective six months for paying the bribe.

Muridzo and Kachirika were each sentenced to 18 months in jail when they were convicted by Harare regional magistrate Mrs Bianca Makwande for bribery.

But Mrs Makwande set aside six months of the terms for five years on condition they do not commit a similar offence within that period.

Mazowi had a larger slice of his sentence suspended. He was initially jailed for 12 months before also having six months suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The trial also marked the widening of prosecutions, whereby those who pay bribes are seen by the law as guilty as those who receive them.

Agreed facts are that on August 27, 2018, Sinafi Chidoko, former wife to Mazowi, filed an application for a maintenance order for herself and two minor children she had with Mazowi.

The claim was for US$250 monthly maintenance and the case was set down for hearing on September 11, 2018.

During that same month, prior to the maintenance claim hearing, Mazowi and Kachirika met and agreed to try and get Muridzo to favourably determine the maintenance case in favour of Mazowi.

Kachirika approached Muridzo and sold the plan.

When the application was heard on September 11, 2018, Muridzo granted the maintenance claim, but reduced the amount to US$50 from the US$250, which was sought by Chidoko.

On October 1, 2018, Mazowi filed an application against Mrs Chidoko and Muridzo again ruled in his favour. On October 2, 2018, Mazowi sent Kachirika US$20 by Ecocash and Kachirika then transferred all the money to Muridzo.

An anonymous caller told Mrs Chidoko that money was changing hands between her ex-husband and the court and that she would never win a case against Mazowi.

She reported the matter and investigations followed, and they revealed that there were indeed cash transactions among the three. -Herald

“Witchcraft” Haunts Nyanga Family

A family in Nyamahumba Village, Nyanga has been experiencing mysterious happenings for the past few months, with snakes and lizards appearing out of nowhere whenever they prepare their meals.

In February this year, the family brought the matter before Acting Chief Saunyama’s court where it was alleged that the family’s patriarch, Sekuru Johannes Nyamahumba’s money-making charms are behind the family’s misfortunes. He, however, is denying the allegations.

Matthew Nyamahumba told The Manica Post that his brother, Sekuru Johannes Nyamahumba, should pay what he owes to the person who gave him the charms so that their problems will go. He said:

All the traditional healers we have consulted have told us in Mukoma Johannes’ presence that he is the culprit behind all this. He is supposed to pay what he owes to the person who sold him the charms.

He even confessed and promised to pay the spiritual healer with some of his cattle. However, when we went back home, he moved his cattle to an unknown place behind our backs

That is when the situation worsened. The reptiles started multiplying. Our homestead is now infested with reptiles and can be seen everywhere, including in pots on the stove as we prepare food.

They are also in our bedrooms and in my baby’s napkins. This is terrifying. We often have to throw away the food that we will be preparing because of the reptiles.

We are being forced to share our homes with these reptiles because we have nowhere else to go. We are suffering because of our brother, Johannes’ greediness.

He acquired lucky charms and failed to pay the supplier. I have lost my child because of this. My brother, Lovemore, also lost a child recently, but Johannes keeps dilly-dallying on paying the spiritual healer. We fear that the whole family will be wiped out.

Acting Chief Saunyama said Sekuru Nyamahumba is yet to pay the fine for defiling the area and the spiritual healer he owes. He said they will have to wait until he changes his mind.

Sekuru Nyamahumba was in default when the family appeared before the traditional court last week on Friday.

When he previously appeared before the same court, Sekuru Nyamahumba denied that he was behind the family’s misfortunes. He said:

Matthew’s son was electrocuted after climbing on an electricity pole. How can this be wizardry?

There was no electricity when he climbed the pole but the supply was restored before he had descended the pole. They now accuse me of causing his death.

I am innocent and want my good reputation in society to be restored. I am prepared to appear before any traditional healer or spiritualist to clear my name which is being dragged in the mud.- Manica Post

” Son Accuses Me Of Bedding Drinking Mates”

After the death of her husband two years ago Grace Ngwenya’s life took a turn for the worst. Her son, Trymore Ngwenya has been tormenting her. Whenever he is from a booze, he makes noise and brands her a pr0stitute.

He does not stop at that as he would hurl insults at her and threaten to poison her and her grandchildren. Grace said efforts to talk to her son have been in vain because Trymore does not want to have a word with her.

Sadly, when she engages him, an argument always ensues and he would beat her and even threaten to set her on fire in her sleep.

These threat have caused her much fear, forcing her to dash to Western Commonage Court to apply for a protection order.

In her affidavit she said: “I’m applying for a protection order against my son who is tormenting me because whenever he is from a booze, he accuses me of being involved in s3_xual affairs with my drinking mates. I have tried by all means to tell him that I’m not in love with them but he does not believe me.

“He insults me by calling me a pr0stitute and when I try to explain to him he beats me up and he even threatened to poison me and my grandchildren as such I fear that he will kill me. I pray that the court will grant me a protection order.”

The presiding magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube granted the troubled Grace a protection order. Trymore was ordered to desist from physically and verbally abusing his mother.

Put More Effort, Zwane Tells Billiat

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has urged Khama Billiat and other attackers in the squad to pull their socks up and be consistent in helping the team to perform well.

Amakhosi dropped points on Saturday after playing a 0-0 draw against AmaZulu.

The Soweto giants missed several chances that could have stopped them from going two league games without a win.

“I think we didn’t have that killer instinct. Yes we did create enough chances you know but we were not clinical enough one,” Zwane told SuperSport TV, as cited by Goal.com.

“Two, I think we started very slow and I believe if we put them under pressure from the first whistle we were gonna get one.

“And you could see with (Kgaogelo) Sekgota, we needed consistency with that, we needed ‘Ash’ (Ashley du Preez) to do more of that and Khama (Billiat) as well.”

Billiat is yet to score this season and has only made one assist in his seven appearances.-Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

What Is Poliomyelitis?

Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious viral disease that largely affects children under 5 years of age.

The virus is transmitted by person-to-person spread mainly through the faecal-oral route or, less frequently, by a common vehicle (e.g. contaminated water or food) and multiplies in the intestine, from where it can invade the nervous system and cause paralysis.

In 1988, the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution for the worldwide eradication of polio, marking the launch of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, spearheaded by national governments, WHO, Rotary International, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNICEF, and later joined by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Wild poliovirus cases have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated 350 000 cases in more than 125 endemic countries then to 175reported cases in 2019.

Of the 3 strains of wild poliovirus (type 1, type 2 and type 3), wild poliovirus type 2 was eradicated in 1999 and no case of wild poliovirus type 3 has been found since the last reported case in Nigeria in November 2012. Both strains have officially been certified as globally eradicated. As at 2020, wild poliovirus type 1 affects two countries: Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The strategies for polio eradication work when they are fully implemented. This is clearly demonstrated by India’s success in stopping polio in January 2011, in arguably the most technically challenging place, and polio-free certification of the entire WHO Southeast Asia Region in March 2014.

Gvt To Recruit Over 2.9k Headmasters, Deputies

By A Correspondent- The Government is set to recruit 2 988 headmasters and deputies to fill primary and secondary school vacancies in a massive recruitment drive set to improve pass rates and maintenance of infrastructure at educational institutions across the country.

The recruitment of heads and deputies began on 30 August, with prospective candidates set to have handed in their applications by 21 September.

According to a memorandum from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education seen by Sunday News, Government is seeking to employ a total of 1 318 primary school heads, with Bulawayo (8), Harare (5), Manicaland (247), Mashonaland Central (154), Mashonaland East (171), Mashonaland West (125), Masvingo (109), Matabeleland North (210), Matabeleland South (160) and Midlands (129) all set to get appointees for the vacant posts.

For secondary schools, a total of 532 school heads are set to be appointed, with Bulawayo (7), Harare (17), Manicaland (27), Mashonaland Central (5), Mashonaland East (16), Mashonaland West (23), Masvingo (10), Matabeleland North (33), Matabeleland South (12) and Midlands (23) all set to get new appointees.

Across the country, 965 deputy primary school heads are set to fill vacant positions, while 173 secondary deputy school heads will also get appointed.

In Bulawayo, in addition to the eight primary school heads that are set to be appointed, 23 deputy primary school heads, two secondary school heads and seven deputy heads are also set to get new briefs. The primary schools without school heads in Bulawayo are St Bernard’s, Waterford, Helemu, Lozikeyi, Hope Fountain, Inkanyezi and Mhlali. Deputy school heads will be appointed for St Peters, Khami Prison, Hope, Mazwi, Mbuyazwe, Thembisa, Babambeni, Dumezweni, Robert Sinyoka, Henry Low, Kumalo, Fairbridge, Mthombothemba, Kensington, Lochview, Mgiqika, Nketa, King George VI, Sigombe, Mafela, Sibantubanye, Mgoqo and Gampu primary schools.

Tennyson Hlabangana and Maranatha are the two secondary schools in Bulawayo that are set to get substantive heads while Pumula South Secondary, Pumula High, Amhlophe High, Masotsha High, Founders, Emakhandeni and Gifford High School are all set to get deputy heads.

Primary and Secondary Education communications and advocacy director Mr Taungana Ndoro said the Government was embarking on the recruitment drive after realisation that there were many vacancies in those positions across the country. He also said the appointment of new school custodians would improve standards of learning and consequently pass rates as pupils geared for examinations across the country.

“The significance of these appointments is that there are a lot of headmasters or deputies that are currently in their roles on an acting capacity because in most cases, the incumbents would have moved elsewhere, retired or promoted. So, by appointing substantive heads, we are making sure that there is binding responding that comes with the role because once appointed, a head becomes the custodian of whatever institution that they lead.

As we approach a crucial part of the education calendar, we intend to make sure that pass rates go up as well is make sure that school infrastructure are well maintained which is the responsibility of those in positions of leadership,” he said.

Mr Ndoro said as the third term beckoned, the Government was also assessing possible teaching vacancies that needed to be filled.

“We are yet to see where we are in terms of vacancies for teachers. A lot of the headmasters and deputies are also teaching heads so they will also assume duties in the classroom while running the school. Afterwards we will then assess to see where we stand in terms of vacancies and then we shall see what the Public Service Commission allows to do to remedy those vacancies should they be any,” he said.

Zimbos In SA In Quandary

By A Correspondent- Multitudes of Zimbabweans engaged as domestic workers, or doing other menial jobs, remain in a quandary over their future as immigrants in South Africa after it emerged they were unsure of what exemption they could seek from the Department of Home Affairs.

Most Zimbabweans who were due for deportation at the expiry of their residence permits, commonly known as Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP), in December 2022 were given a six-month grace period to regularise their stay following a Cabinet directive freezing deportations.

In a statement Friday, South Africa Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, said the Departmental Advisory Committee (DAC) decided to extend an olive branch to affected neighbours, noting that only a few had submitted applications to renew their permits.

“With the powers bestowed upon me in terms of section 31(2)(b), read with section 31(2)(d) of the Immigration Act, decided to extend the Zimbabwean exemptions granted to Zimbabwean nationals for a further period of six (6) months in order to allow the holders thereof to apply for one or other visas provided for in the Immigration Act that they may qualify for, hereby direct that this decision should be implemented as follows, during the further six months’ period, from 31 December 2022, ending on 30 June 2023,” Motsoaledi said.

“No holder of the exemption may be arrested, ordered to depart or be detained for purposes of deportation or deported in terms of the section 34 of the Immigration Act for any reason related to him or her not having any valid exemption certificate (i.e permit label/ sticker) in his or her passport,” the minister said.

But, Zimbabwe Community in South Africa chairman, Ngqabutho Mabhena told NewZimbabwe.com that while his organisation welcomed the moratorium on arrests and deportations of immigrants, most affected individuals, particularly unskilled labourers, did not know how to apply for exemption.

“We welcome the extension of the grace period by the Minister of Home Affairs from 31st of December 2022 to 30th of June 2023,” said Mabhena.

“This brings a sigh of relief to holders of ZEP as the majority of them had not applied to move to other VISAs. The reason for them not to apply is because of confusion in terms of the requirements.

“Most people that are ZEP holders are people of low skill, and according to the Immigration Act, such individuals will not qualify. Even if people are asked to apply for a waiver, others are not sure what it is they should ask the Department to waiver.”

Mabhena said his organisation would take opportunity of the deportation freeze to engage South African government authorities.

“So, we believe with this extended grace period, we will be able to engage the Department of Home Affairs so it gives clarity to say ‘if a person ia of low skills working as a domestic worker or a driver in the construction industry, what assistance can they get and what are the requirements that need waiver for them to qualify for a general working VISA,” Mabhena added.

Zanu-PF SA chapter spokesperson, Kennedy Mapesa Mandaza concurred with Mabhena, adding the reprieve had eased tensions amid fears of xenophobic attacks.

“It is a decision that has brought relief to many of our people who were being faced by the possibility of deportation at the end of the year,” said Mandaza.

It has eased the tension and frustrations that we’re simmering among Zimbabweans both in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The reprieve will give the majority of the Zimbabweans to continue to seek regular permits that are provided under the South African Immigration laws.

“More importantly it gives our people ample time to repatriate their property to Zimbabwe without a lot of hustles especially now that those who may not get the permits may do so after the busy festive season.

“During this period we urge our two governments to continue to engage and find lasting solutions on the issue of Zimbabwean migrants so that we have a resolution that accommodates the concerns of the migrants.”

Operation Dudula Blasts ZEP Extension

By A Correspondent- Operation Dudula, an anti-immigrant group in South Africa, said the extension of Zimbabwean Exemption Permits (ZEPs) is an insult to South Africans.

On 02 September 2022, South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi announced the extension of the application period to 30 June 2023.

Motsoaledi, however, warned that there will be no further extensions.

Operation Dudula’s Kwena Molekwa said the South African government has betrayed its people by extending the deadline. Said Molekwa:

But what is heartbreaking is the continuous betrayal of the ANC government toward the South African people because prioritising South Africans in South Africa seems like a wild concept…labour laws of this country have been undermined under this ZEP that is being placed illegally.

Molekwa said they can’t continue to feel sorry for Zimbabweans considering that almost half of South Africans are unemployed. Said Molekwa:

Yes, we did sympathise with the Zimbabwean people but we can no longer continue looking at the unemployment of South Africans, looking at 46% of South Africans that are on grants.

On Saturday, Motsoaledi revealed that to date, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has received 9 000 visa waivers and 4 000 applications. | EWN
