The Zambian turnaround cements the old argument that central to any nation's success is leadership. Everything else, be it minerals, wealth or any other national endowments only make a difference where the leadership is focused.

Top Junta Up For Smuggling 31 AK-47 Rifles
By- A senior member of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Colonel Leonard Matambo, has been arrested for smuggling 31 AK-47 assault rifles and 62 magazines into the country through the Beitbridge Border Post for unknown purposes.
Matambo, who is being charged with smuggling and possession of dangerous weapons, yesterday appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje, who remanded him in custody to Tuesday for bail ruling.
Prosecutor Tafara Chirambira told the court that on an unknown date between 2019 and August this year, Matambo connived with Guguluthu Mabhena of Bulawayo to smuggle a consignment of 31 AK-47 rifles as well as 62 magazines from South Africa.
On August 29, Mabhena was allegedly found carrying the guns in his Toyota Hilux king-cab vehicle at Manica Transit Shed in Beitbridge.
Police investigations established that the firearms had been smuggled from South Africa.
On hearing that the firearms had been intercepted at the border post, Matambo allegedly wrote to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority’s regional manager requesting that Mabhena, of Spartan Arms International, be allowed to clear the consignment pending submission of relevant clearance documents which he claimed were being processed by the Zimbabwe Defence Industries.
In opposing bail, police Inspector Victor Mukohwa told magistrate Mambanje that Matambo was likely to commit a similar offence and endanger the safety of the general public.
Mukohwa expressed fear that more firearms could have been smuggled using the same modus operandi, hence police required more time to investigate the matter while Matambo and his accomplice are in custody.

Reprieve For ZEP Holders
By- Reprieve for Zimbabweans in South South Africa as the government extends the validity of the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) Visa by another six months to mid-2023.
According to a statement released by the Department of Home Affairs, the next expiry of ZEP permits is now 30 June 2023 instead of the original 31 December 2022. Reads the statement:
ZIMBABWEAN NATIONALS GRANTED EXEMPTIONS IN TERMS SECTION 13(2)(b) OF THE IMMIGRATION ACT 13 OF 2002
1. As previously communicated, the Department of Home Affairs (“DHA”) appointed the Departmental Advisory Committee (“DAC”) led by Dr Cassius Lubisi to assess the visa applications lodged by the affected Zimbabwean nationals. The DHA also appointed an outside legal firm to handle all court challenges relating to the decision not to extend the exemptions granted to the Zimbabwean nationals and related matters.
Progress report
2. The Minister of Home Affairs (“Minister”) received a progress report from Dr Cassius Lubisi. The report states that the DAC has met on several occasions in order to execute its mandate, and their last meeting was held for the whole day on the 1st of September 2022. The DAC recommended to the Minister that in view of the progress thus far, it will be prudent for the Minister to consider extending the period within which the affected Zimbabwean nationals will have an opportunity to apply for visas and/or waivers for a further six months.
3. The Minister has carefully considered the request and decided to extend the period by a further six months, that is, 31 December 2022 to 30 June 2023.
Another factor considered by the Minister is that few Zimbabwean nationals have thus far applied for visas and/or waivers. To this end, the Minister has issued another Directive annexed hereto marked “A”
4. The Minister is committed to affording the affected Zimbabwean nationals another opportunity to apply for one or other visas and/or waivers provided for in the Immigration Act.
5. The Directive containing the decision of the Minister will be communicated through diplomatic channels to the Zimbabwean Ambassador in South Africa.
6. The DHA calls upon all the affected Zimbabwean nationals to make use of this window of opportunity and not wait for the last moment to lodge their applications as is the case now. There will be no further extension granted by the Minister.

ZEC Taken Aback As Twitter Poll Goes Otherwise
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission created a poll to ask citizens if political parties should be registered or not.
The poll created at a time pro-Zanu PF members have been pushing to have political parties registered before they participate in elections in what has largely been targeted at the newly formed Citizens Coalition for Change led by Nelson Chamisa.
ZEC took the debate a step further and created a poll possibly to test waters but they got a rude awakening after Twitter users flatly rejected the idea with 57 percent of the 5963 people who voted saying NO to registration of parties while 38 percent said YES. 5 percent said May Be.

Did South Africa Heed Chamisa’s 400 Day Plea?
South Africa yesterday extended the deadline for Zimbabwean permits to 30 June 2022 in what has been a major reprieve to hundreds of thousands of Zimbo who were at risk of being deported after 31 December 2022.
In a statement released on Friday, the department says Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motosaledi received a report from the committee which stated that he should consider extending the validity period for the permits.
“The Minister has carefully considered the request and decided to extend the period by a further six months, that is, 31 December 2022 to 30 June 2023,” they say.
Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa recently begged South Africa to give Zimbabwe 400 days to sort out its mess.
“Fellow Africans in South Africa, we note your frustrations and economic constraints.I kindly ask for your support to Zimbabweans in these trying times. Help us as we do our best to fix Zimbabwe for a prosperous future. In less than 400 days our pains, agonies and fights will be a thing of the past.We will win Zimbabwe for change.
“Help us to hold credible elections. We need free and fair elections to permanently resolve our politics and the economy. Many are not in your country out of mischief but on account of poor leadership, bad governance and deadening poverty. Zimbabweans mean no harm to you. After all, we are decent and great neighbors,” said Chamisa.
Govt Pegs Vehicle License In USD
Vehicle licence fees have now been set in US dollars converted at the interbank rate of exchange on the day of payment for the majority who pay in local currency with owners of vehicles under 1 500kg paying $11 200 a four-month term at yesterday’s exchange rate.
In terms of Statutory Instrument 156 of 2022, the 25th amendment to the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Regulations gazetted by Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Felix Mhona, the old Zimbabwe schedules have been replaced by new schedules denominated in US dollars.
However, the amendment makes it clear that the fees listed “may be payable in local currency (Zimbabwe dollars) for locally registered vehicles at the ruling exchange rate of the day”.The new fees came into effect yesterday, the day they were gazetted.
The tables giving the tariffs now allow for longer periods than just one term, with vehicle owners given the options of: 4 months, 6 months, 8 months, 10 months and 12 months. The tariffs are identical per month regardless of the length of licence cover desired, there being no discount or premium if longer or shorter periods are chosen.
The shift to US dollars follows other changes in Government fees, with the same proviso that the US dollar rates can be converted on the day of payment to local currency at the official rate, which is now set as the interbank rate for all Government transactions. This can change every business day.
The switch means that gazetted rates will be valid for far longer as inflation adjustments will be far less frequent.Besides the fees to maintain licence cover, the regulations also list the fees for first time registrations and for change of ownership, with much higher fees when the change involves changing the number plates.
For the continuation of licence cover the new fees for a four month term are:
Up to 1 500kg US$20,
1 501kg to 2 250kg US$25,
2 251kg to 3 000kg US$30,
3 001kg to 3 750kg US$60,
3 751kg to 4 250kg US$75,
4 251kg to 5 000kg US$90,
5 001kg to 5 750kg US$100,
5 751kg to 6 250kg US$105,
6 251kg to 7 000kg US$120,
7 001kg to 7 750kg US$130,
7 751kg to 9 250kg US$140,
9 251kg to 10 000kg US$150,
10 001kg to 10 750kg US$200, and
10 751kg and above US$300.
The fees for six months are one and half times the four-month rates, for eight months are twice the four-month rates, for 10 months are 2,5 times the four-month rates and for one year are three times the four-month rates.

Reprieve For Zimbabweans In South Africa
South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi has extended the validity of the Zimbabwe special permits by another six months.
The permits were set to expire at the end of this year, leaving thousands of Zimbabweans in the country with no choice but to return home or face being in the country illegally.
Civil society organisations, including the Helen Suzman Foundation, had turned to the courts to reverse the minister’s decision to terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP).
Motsoaledi has since appointed a Departmental Advisory Committee to assess the visa applications by affected by Zimbabweans.
The committee was led by Director-General, Dr Cassius Lubisi.
In a statement released on Friday, the department says Motosaledi received a report from the committee which stated that he should consider extending the validity period for the permits.
“The Minister has carefully considered the request and decided to extend the period by a further six months, that is, 31 December 2022 to 30 June 2023,” they say.
“Another factor considered by the Minister is that few Zimbabwe nationals have thus far applied for visas or waivers. To this end, the Minister has issued another directive,” reads the statement.
The department says the minister remains committed to affording affected Zimbabweans nationals another opportunity to apply for visas or waivers.
However, there will be no further extension.
“The department calls upon all the affected Zimbabwe nationals to make use of this window of opportunity and not wait for the last moment to lodge their applications as is the case now.”

Chipinge’s Only X-Ray Machine Down Since March
Chipinge District Hospital has been operating without an X-Ray machine for almost five months now.
According to The Manica Post, the hospital’s X-Ray machine broke down in April and patients seeking X-Ray services are being turned away.
The digital machine reportedly broke down in April when the hospital was attending to Chimanimani Bus Disaster victims which claimed the lives of 43 Zion Church of Christ (ZCC) followers.
Chipinge District Hospital receives at least 20 patients seeking X-Ray services daily but they are being referred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in Mutare.
Chipinge District Medical Officer, Dr Brian Makumbe confirmed the dire situation at the hospital. He said:
Our X-Ray machine is not working. The part that broke down is very expensive to replace.
The money we are receipting is not enough to repair or buy the new part.
We are engaging our superiors to have this issue addressed.
Chipinge District Hospital’s catchment area is quite huge, covering Chipinge rural, Birchenough Bridge, Rusitu and neighbouring Mozambique.
A patient, Tenson Semwayo, told The Manica Post that he had to fork out US$40 at a private surgery in Mutare to access X-Ray services after travelling all the way from Manzvire in Chipinge South last week.
He implored authorities to urgently repair the X-Ray machine at Chipinge District Hospital.

Military Man Arrested For Smuggling Weapons

Mukohwa expressed fear that more firearms could have been smuggled using the same modus operandi, hence police required more time to investigate the matter while Matambo and his accomplice are in custody.
Matambo’s lawyer Tonderai Bhatasara said his client was not a flight risk and that he has an immovable property in Gweru.
Bhatasara also said his client’s wife was a senior member of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, currently on a United Nations mission in South Sudan.
Bhatasara said the consignment belonged to the ZDI.
Matambo said he wrote the letter authorising the release of the firearms after being given the nod by ZDI general manager, one Air Commodore Mutizwa.
Mukohwa told the court that Mutizwa’s whereabouts were not known, adding that police were yet to receive a complaint for the ZDI over the matter.
The firearms, ammunition and the vehicle were confiscated and will be produced before the court as evidence.– Newsday
Chamisa Dupes ZANU PF
Scores of Zanu PF supporters were left with egg on their face yesterday after their plans to disrupt Citizens Coalition for Change (CC) leader Nelson Chamisa’s campain rally in Chivhu, Mashonaland East province, turned into a wild goose chase amid reports that the opposition leader had sold them a dummy.
Over 80 placard-wielding Zanu PF members camped at the Chikomba Rural District Council offices in the morning baying for Chamisa’s head, only to disperse later in the day after it emerged that the purported rally was a hoax.
CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said: “Zanu PF is desperate and seeing shadows and ghosts everywhere. The CCC is focused on mobilising the masses to win Zimbabwe for change in 2023. Anything else is a sideshow.”
A CCC senior member in Chivhu, who said he was not authorised to speak to the media, confirmed the development.
“We received a tip-off from Zanu PF insiders on Thursday that there was a planned protest against Chamisa, whom they thought would visit,” the official said.
“But we are confusing detractors. That is our new strategy. We have realised that Zanu PF has a tendency of disrupting our meetings and we are very cautious of that. We also need to ensure safety, not only of the leadership, but of our supporters because they have been victims.”
A senior Zanu PF official in Chikomba, Rangarirai Matono, who was part of the Zanu PF group, confirmed the planned protests in an interview with NewsDay Weekender.
“I am not very sure why the protests did not succeed,” he said. “I am out of town. I got engaged with another business.”
Chamisa last week advised his supporters to lie low in the face of the escalating violence ahead of the 2023 elections, urging them to adopt what he termed “Operation Mango — green outside and yellow inside”, where they pretend to be Zanu PF supporters in public while remaining opposition at heart.
Since last year, most of Chamisa’s rallies have been violently disrupted by ruling party activists, with his motorcade often attacked.
Last week in Gokwe, Midlands province, scores of opposition supporters and journalists from the private media were severely assaulted at illegal roadblocks mounted by Zanu PF supporters along the Nemangwe-Chitekete Road, where Chamisa was scheduled to address a campaign rally for the party’s Gokwe-Kabuyuni parliamentary candidate Costin Muguti.
The CCC leader had to call off the rally after top Zanu PF officials took over the venue claiming they had booked it for their rally. -Newsday
Govt Promises To Collect Fees In ED Dollars
TREASURY has directed all Government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as well as local authorities to collect all fees and levies in Zimbabwe dollars only, except where specified, as the Government steps up measures to promote the use and desirability of the local currency.
This comes as measures instituted by Treasury and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) have started yielding the desired impact that has manifested in exchange rate and inflation stability.
In a directive to all MDAs and local authorities, Secretary for Finance and Economic Development, Mr George Guvamatanga, said: “Any collection of fees and levies for services rendered in foreign currency by Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as local authorities, is illegal and should be in local currency at the prevailing interbank rate, unless granted exceptional approval by Treasury”.
The directive from Treasury comes as some Government institutions, including local authorities, had started demanding payment of fees and levies exclusively in foreign currency, especially in light of the then resurgent inflation.
Earlier last week, the City of Harare announced that some of its services would be billed in United States dollars (USD) starting September 1, 2022.
In the notice, the local authority said the move sought to ensure continued service delivery.
The notice read: “Council wishes to advise its valued residents and stakeholders that certain fees chargeable by council are now payable exclusively in United States dollars (USD) with effect from the 1st of September 2022.
“The fees exclude all charges that are accessible through the monthly bills, i.e. water consumption, sewerage, refuse collection and rates. The above-mentioned charges will remain open to being payable using multi-currency as may be opted by the client.
“This development is in line with council’s resolution made on the 3rd of August 2022 and the need to capacitate council to continue sustaining service delivery. The US dollar tariffs will remain as contained in the 2022 approved budget or Schedule 25A.”
But Mr Guvamatanga, citing the law, said: “Section 78 (1) of the Public Finance Management Act (CAP 22:19), empowers Treasury to prescribe or issue instructions or directions to ministries, whether individually or collectively, concerning the determination of any sales of fees, other charges or rates relating to revenue accruing to the Consolidated Revenue Fund.”
He added that notwithstanding the current trends where service providers and traders have been allowed to charge prices for goods and services in both foreign currency and local currency, the Government has the mandate to provide services at cost recovery levels, cognisant of the need to ensure affordability and accessibility to the general citizenry.
Ostensibly, some public institutions had misconstrued Government’s intentions when it gazetted a law entrenching the use of a multi-currency system for the duration of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which runs for five years through 2025.
All MDAs and local authorities that had placed such notices prescribing exclusive payment in forex have been ordered to immediately withdraw them and revert to a pricing framework which is guided by the Government policy position.
The Government has previously instituted measures aimed at promoting the use and desirability of the local currency, among them payment of most duties and levies for Government services and royalties by mining firms, in local currency.
Economist Mr Eddie Cross, a known strong advocate of the local currency, said due to challenges being encountered in a dual currency system, the best way forward should be to “de-dollarise completely and float or allow the US dollar to find its range freely”.- state media

Former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko’s son has been arrested by police in Bulawayo .
Mr Siqokoqela Mphoko is facing
rape charges. He is expected to appear in court on Thursday afternoon.
“Siqokoqela Mphoko was this morning arrested by police in Bulawayo and will appear in court today. He was arrested over rape charges and that is all we can release as information,” police said in a statement published by a State paper.
In a video clip posted on Ezra Tshisa Sibanda’s Facebook, Mphoko said :
“Good morning to everybody, my name is Siqokoqela Mphoko. A praying man, a God-fearing man and a family man. Today… Yesterday actually, I was called to the Hillside Police Station and a rape charge laid against me. No investigations were done, but that’s still fine. Yesterday, I ran away from the police station because I felt that there was no fairness in my case. I felt that things were not done properly and I felt that there was a hand behind it that is not Government.
I believe in the judiciary system, so now I’m on my way to Hillside Police Station to hand myself in as we speak. I’m asking for your prayers and I’m asking for your support.
I thank you for your love and your understanding. Thank you, God bless, you.”
Mnangagwa Hates Own People
Tinashe Sambiri|CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa says Zanu PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa lacks genuine love for citizens.
In a statement on his official Facebook page, President Chamisa bemoaned the escalation of violence in the country.
“Politics has left me with many scars yet I have zero bitterness within me. Violence is barbaric and stone age. Peace is modern. Peace is a builder. A New Great Zimbabwe is loading…Blessed friday beloved.#Godisinit #fakapressure.”
He added :
“PEACE MEANS LOVE… Where there is love there is no violence. Violence is simply the absence of love.
There is just no violence where there is love. Peace is inclusive. #Peacemeanslove.”
President Chamisa’s party has pointed out that Zanu PF is plotting acts of violence and terror.
“VIOLENCE ALERT: The regime in Harare recently held a secret meeting with various stakeholders where they discussed on how to silence the citizens through the use of violence,” CCC said in a statement.

Masisi Glorifies Murderous Mnangagwa
Tinashe Sambiri| The President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi, has stunned all and sundry after failing to utter a single word on the political crisis in Zimbabwe.
Masisi described the Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa as a “dear brother.”
Political analysts say Masisi’s remarks have sanitised the violation of human rights in Zimbabwe.
Below is the President of Botswana’s statement:
Dumelang Batswana.
We had private discussions followed by official talks with my dear brother His Excellency, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa yesterday.
We discussed a wide range of issues that affect our two countries and we did this with honesty, respect and most of all with the interests of the people we lead at heart. We later addressed the media and the question on our position on the economic sanctions placed on Zimbabwe arose.
Our position as Botswana is unequivocal. These sanctions are hurting the people of Zimbabwe and they must be lifted. We are equally affected by their repercussions. The West must engage Zimbabwe and find a solution.

Train Crushes Boy To Death
A CHIKANGA teenager was this morning crushed to death by a goods train after failing to hear the hooting locomotive because of the headphone he was putting on.
Although the identity of the deceased was not readily ascertained, those who witnessed the tragic incident told The Manica Post that the boy could not hear the sound of the train as he had headphones on, which are believed to have been on high volume.
Mr James Mutimbanyoka said: ”The train was coming from Harare and we all heard the sound apart from the horn which was so loud. Some of us thought it was just the normal horn as the railway line crosses the road which is used by pedestrians around that area. But somehow, I think the engineman had actually noticed that the young man had not sensed that the train was coming. He was instantly crushed to death in our full view.”
Contacted for comment, Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said they would get finer details tomorrow (Friday).
“It is unfortunate we cannot confirm nor comment on that now. We wait for procedure and we can only confirm that tomorrow,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

Mnangagwa Aide Terrorises Gokwe Villagers
By- President Emerson Mnangagwa’s former aide and Gokwe-Kana MP, Owen Mudha Ncube is wreaking havoc by targeting opposition supporters in Gokwe.
Reports by NewZimbabwe say that Mudha is doing the same in Gokwe-Kabuyuni, where Zanu PF won a by-election with wide margins.
“Mudha” Ncube is the Gokwe Kana MP, while Gokwe-Kabuyuni was last week won by Spencer Tshuma of the same Zanu PF party.
Tshuma garnered 10 727 against CCC’s Costin Muguti, who polled 4 800 votes in by-elections held on 27 August 2022.
Villagers who requested anonymity for fear of victimisation said that Mhudha is targetting people who voted for Muguti in Gokwe-Kabuyuni.
Said one of the villagers:
Ncube has directed Zanu PF supporters to hunt for the 4 800 who voted for CCC candidate Costin Muguti and all those who supported his campaign locally.
We do not know how they are going to do that, but we hear they have a list of people they are targeting.
I am sure this is the beginning of violent attacks on opposition supporters and those who will be unfortunate or suspected of supporting the CCC.
This is very scary because if two teams are expected to compete then the other starts stopping the other from entering the field of play, which raises fear.
Another villager said the thugs are not afraid of “avenging spirits” as happened in the case of MDC-T supporter Moses Chokuda who was killed in cold blood in 2008. Said the villager:
Already a lot of people in Gokwe are traumatised by what they witnessed in 2002, 2003 and 2008.
Zanu PF supporters have already begun to threaten people, saying they will beat them or burn their homes.
They do not fear a repeat of what happened in 2008, in the case of Chokuda because we hear some of those tormenting us are artisanal miners and touts, who do not fear spilling human blood as they are now used to it.
Chokuda was killed at the height of the 2008 politically motivated violence by Farai Machaya, son of then Midlands provincial governor, Jason Machaya, and his two friends Edmore and Bothwell Gana.
Chokuda’s body reportedly “refused” to be buried for years until Machaya was forced to compensate the Chokuda family with 70 cattle and US$15 000.
Meanwhile, screenshots of messages taken from a ZANU PF constituency group, allegedly sent by Owen Ncube read:
Which are the main areas dominated by CCC? Who are their ring leaders, list them. Are there any members from town in your area who are giving assistance to CCC? Do they have a car? If so, where do they park during the night?
Who is sponsoring CCC in your home area? Does he have a shop? Who is the aspiring candidate for CCC as a councillor or MP?
Ncube refused to comment on the screenshots when he was contacted for comment by NewZimbabwe.com.
Posting in another WhatsApp group, Zanu PF supporter Godwin Nkatha, urged members to identify CCC supporters so that they undergo ideological reorientation. He said:
4 000 is too much for CCC, those people who voted for Chamisa must be identified and vadzidziswe gwara remusangano (they need indoctrination on the party line).
Those three places might be cancerous to other places. They need to be grouped starting now and be taught Zanu PF ideology.
We must close the registration of new voters because it will be disastrous.

Ramaphosa Aide Speaks On Harassment Of Zimbabweans
By-South Africa’s minister in the presidency Mondli Gungubele has warned that preventing foreign nationals from accessing healthcare could negatively affect patients, the public health system and the country’s citizens.
He said:
We understand the public health system is overburdened. However, doctors and healthcare workers have an obligation to provide healthcare to those in need.
The Hippocratic Oath guides the actions of doctors, which includes them not withholding services because of religion, nationality, race, politics or social standing.
Government is hard at work to improve our healthcare system and deal with challenges.

Zambian Currency Tops Africa, Threatens USD
By James Gwati-As of September 1 2022, the Zambian Kwacha was the best in Africa and had overtaken the world’s best performing currencies.
Some of the best currencies overtaken by Kwacha included the Russian Ruble.
The Kwacha has been on a steady growth since 24 months ago, and observers attribute the trajectory to the ascendancy to power of President Hakainde Hichilema.
The government’s spokesperson, Joseph Kalimbwe, said this Thursday on Twitter:
The Zambian Kwacha has now overtaken the Russian Ruble to become the best-performing currency in the world, as of today September 1 2022. Our country still has a long way to go, but many thanks to everyone for voting for our party. The UPND is making steady progress!!!
How the Ruble rose:
Around May, the Russian Ruble was the best-performing currency despite wide-ranging sanctions imposed for its invasion of Ukraine.
i). The rise came when Russia insisted that European Union countries that purchase natural gas from Russia make payments in rubles, rather than in dollars or euros.
ii). The Central Bank of Russia on February 8 raised its interest rates to 20% in an emergency move. This means anyone who is looking to sell rubles for dollars now has an incentive to hold the Russian currency, which would in turn cushion the fall in the Ruble.
iii). The Russian government forced export-focused businesses to convert 80% of their foreign currency into rubles triggering significant demand for the Russian currency, thus also helping to prop it up.
Zambian Kwacha’s rise is attributed to:
a). Restored mining bullishness – In addition to political stability, the rise of the Kwacha is attributed to Mining which has long been a cornerstone of Zambia’s economy. The global copper market is tightening, so new mines are difficult to find. Consequently, the Zambian kwacha has been in high demand, as revenue from the country’s exports increased by 14.2 per cent to $5.9bn in 2021. According to the Bank of Zambia, copper contributed $4.4bn to the country’s total earnings that year.
b). Massive debt relief – Zambia’s dollar debt, including arrears and state-owned company liabilities, rose to $17.3 billion by the end of last year. On July 30, Zambia’s official creditors, led by China and France, agreed to negotiate a restructuring of their debts. Consequently, Zambia got final approval from the International Monetary Fund for a $1.4 billion bailout. Following this news, the Zambian kwacha advanced to its highest level.
c). Increased forex supply – Economist Patrick Chileshe says the other reason why the Kwacha has been gaining against the US dollar is increased forex supply. To guard against the volatility in the exchange rate, the central bank was offloading an average of $13 million per day in June. He said:
We have seen the Kwacha gain strength, and that was driven by increased foreign exchange supply to the market by the Bank of Zambia which was consistent in the market, whereas the demand for US dollars has been low, and that led to the appreciation of the Zambian Kwacha.
The Zambian kwacha is the best-performing currency in the world against the US dollar, rallying over 18.5% from January 22 to September 1.
While continental peers South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi and Kenya have been unable to control rising inflation and plunging currencies, Hichilema’s government has managed to reduce the inflation rate from 24.4% in August 2021 to 9.7% in June this year.

Zanu PF Conducts Secret Torture Trainings
By James Gwati- Zanu PF is holding secret torture training sessions ahead of the next year’s elections.
According to the opposition CCC, at these torture seminars, the Zanu PF militia is trained on how to attack opposition supporters.
Unearthing these secret meetings, CCC posted on social media that they were now fearing the abductions of their members.
Posted CCC:
VIOLENCE ALERT: The regime in Harare recently held a secret meeting with various stakeholders where they discussed how to silence the citizens through the use of violence
Mudha Hunts Down Chamisa Gokwe Supporters
By- Former Spy minister Owen Mudha Ncube is wreaking havoc in Gokwe-Kana by targeting opposition supporters.
Reports by NewZimbabwe say that this is also happening in Gokwe-Kabuyuni, where Zanu PF won a by-election with wide margins.

Bogus Stands Agent In Trouble
A suspected bogus residential stands agent who was allegedly illegally selling land to people in Spitzkop outside Harare has been nabbed and locked in custody.
Gilbert Kanyongo of Vevhu Development Marketing Company and his company secretary Nomatter Rukawe are accused of misrepresenting to be agents of Vevhu Resources (Pvt) (Ltd) and selling land to people collecting over US$60 000 yet their contract had been ended in 2017.
The two were not asked to plead to fraud allegations when they appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda.
Kanyongo was denied bail while Rukawe was released on $20 000 bail with the court saying there is a strong case.
The court heard that from 2017 up to date, the two connived and misrepresented to land seekers that they were agents of Vevhu Resources and they would sell and allocate stands to people.
Rhe State alleges that the two knew that their company’s contract to represent Vevhu Resources had been terminated.
Claims are that clients continued to pay and being allocated stands without the authority of Vevhu Resources, the owners of the land.
It is said the two were arrested on August 30 after a trap was set and led to the arrest of Rukawe who was found in possession of trap money comprising of two US$100 notes which was received from one Svodai Gonorenzou as payment for a stand.
Muskwe Leaves Luton Town
Warriors striker Admiral Muskwe has joined English third tier side Fleetwood Town from Luton Town on a season loan.
The Zimbabwean international leaves the Championship club in search of regular game time. He featured for the side three times this season.
The 24-year-old is the second player to sign for Fleetwood on loan from Luton this window as he joins Carlos Mendes Gomes, who penned a season-long loan deal – much like Admiral – keeping him at the Club until the end of the 2022/23 season.
“Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signing of forward Admiral Muskwe on loan from Sky Bet Championship side Luton Town,” the League One team said on Thursday.
Muskwe will wear the number nine shirt and is expected to be eligible for Town’s Sky Bet League One clash against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday subject to clearance.-Soccer 24 Zimbabwe
Bill Antonio Secures Move To Belgium
When Covid-19 hit Zimbabwe in early 2020, Bill Antonio was still part of DZ Academy.
He was just a youngster who was part the training establishment and dreaming of playing professional football.
Antonio was still a student at Prince Edward School.
Two years later, the Dzivaresekwa-raised youngster has completed a dream come true move to Belgian top-flight side KV Mechelen, in a dramatic turn of events for the 19-year old.
He dreamt of donning the iconic Dynamos kit, but before completing a season in the blue half of the capital, another dream has come true for the speedster.
“It’s such a great achievement, straight from Zimbabwe to Europe but all I have to say to the Dynamos family is; thank you for all the support,” said Antonio.
“Where I’m going, I will never forget the Dynamos family. Playing in the blue kit is something every footballer wishes for.
“Playing for Dynamos was something beyond my imagination but through God, everything is possible.
“In life, there are many chapters. I’m heading to Europe, starting a new chapter and hoping to keep on working hard,” he added.
Antonio urged youngsters at DZ Academy who wish to follow his footsteps to never stop believing.
“God never disappoints, keep on putting the work and being attentive in training, everything is possible,” he said.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
Facts About Poliomyelitis
Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious viral disease that largely affects children under 5 years of age.
The virus is transmitted by person-to-person spread mainly through the faecal-oral route or, less frequently, by a common vehicle (e.g. contaminated water or food) and multiplies in the intestine, from where it can invade the nervous system and cause paralysis.
In 1988, the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution for the worldwide eradication of polio, marking the launch of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, spearheaded by national governments, WHO, Rotary International, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNICEF, and later joined by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Wild poliovirus cases have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated 350 000 cases in more than 125 endemic countries then to 175reported cases in 2019.
Of the 3 strains of wild poliovirus (type 1, type 2 and type 3), wild poliovirus type 2 was eradicated in 1999 and no case of wild poliovirus type 3 has been found since the last reported case in Nigeria in November 2012. Both strains have officially been certified as globally eradicated. As at 2020, wild poliovirus type 1 affects two countries: Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The strategies for polio eradication work when they are fully implemented. This is clearly demonstrated by India’s success in stopping polio in January 2011, in arguably the most technically challenging place, and polio-free certification of the entire WHO Southeast Asia Region in March 2014.

Schools Reject Zim Dollar Fees
SEVERAL schools across the country are demanding fees exclusively in United States (US) dollars owing to rising inflation, a development that has left parents and guardians in quandary ahead of schools’ opening on Monday.
This comes despite that the majority of parents and guardians are earning exclusively in the local currency.
Government gave the greenlight for schools to peg fees in US dollars and that the same be payable in local currency at the prevailing interbank rate.
However, some schools are demanding fees exclusively in hard currency, while others are giving parents and guardians an option to pay half of the fees in local currency and the other half in US dollars.
Yesterday, government said it would deregister schools which refuse to comply with its directive that they should accept the local currency equivalent of the US dollar fees, failure which the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission would be unleashed on them.
Confusion rocked the market as some schools were using parallel market rates of up to $1 000 against US$1, while the official rate is at $547:US$1.
Information gathered by NewsDay showed that some schools have since suspended their local currency accounts, leaving parents with no other option but to pay in foreign currency.
A circular dated August 12, 2022 from one school (name supplied) read: “We are very thankful for the constructive deliberations we had. We can conclude that most parents have agreed on paying fees in United States dollars. Those who may need more clarity, you can contact the head.”
A circular from another school (name supplied) read: “How are (you) parents? Following our successful EGM [extraordinary general meeting], it was resolved that the current levy should remain at RTGS15 000 or US$30 at today’s interbank rate. Parents are encouraged to pay in USD to enable a smooth running of school operations and a nostro account was opened to this effect. You can pay from Monday August 22.”
Contacted for comment, Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said: “Schools that continue to defy government policy risk deregistration, while the culprits risk being prosecuted by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Raymond Majongwe said there was chaos in pegging school fees which had been influenced by poor government policies.
“Schools have dollarised, just like what the economy has literally done,” Majongwe said.
“This actually exposes the government (for) its policies on currency. Government is refusing to acknowledge that the economy has dollarised when all other public institutions are demanding foreign currency. The whole education system is in jeopardy. Unless the government accepts that the Zimdollar is not working, we are doomed.”
Zimbabwe National Union of School Heads secretary-general Munyaradzi Majoni said schools that were charging in US dollars had applied for permission from government and received approved.
“Government requires schools to apply first for them to be able to peg fees in US dollars,” Majoni said.
“So what it means is that only schools that have been approved by the government can charge in United States dollars, payable in local currency. The problem is on the issues of government inconsistency on policies, where sometimes the directives are not clear and leave the school heads guessing on what they should do, especially given the hyper-inflationary (environment) that we are experiencing.”- NewsDay Zimbabwe

“Sangoma” Sells Powers, Encourages People To Make Money Through Churches
Morgan Zvemangororo
As the bible says we are living in the end days, a magi-prophet, (half prophet, half magician), Isaac Makomichi is reportedly selling spiritual powers to those who want to become prophets, hapra katapra, sangomas and also to those who want to become thieves, politicians, businesspeople and slayqueens.
The man (Makomichi) is confusing people with his powers- some are saying he is a true prophet of God and others are saying his powers are from the secret world.
Last year the SA Satanic founders accused Makomichi of using alien powers.
“My friend is now performing wonders and he is not a Christian, he opened his church in Kwekwe. I asked him about his powers and he said he bought them from Makomichi.
I then called Makomichi on his personal number +263777469342 as if I wanted to buy the power too.I was shocked when he said you can come with money and take spiritual power level number 5, he also said I will prophecy names,id numbers. He didn’t even bother to ask whether I’m a born again or not.” said one witness.
Some religious leaders have described Makomichi as an evil man who uses secret powers to perform his shocking miracles to confuse the world.
Makomichi is known for his Marimba ” mountain- moving” magic and Ghana love charms which are being used by big names in the world of slayqueens.

Zim Dollar Sinks, As Zambian Kwacha Shines
By-The Zimbabwean dollar is in a severe shortage, threatening to affect the supply of essential goods and services.
This shortage has been caused by the government’s suspension of payments to its suppliers and payouts to contractors.
Rising inflation and a volatile exchange rate prompted the government to suspend payments to its suppliers to enable Treasury to investigate those suspected of pegging prices using the parallel market exchange rate.
The government also suspended payouts to contractors to control money supply and introduced gold coins to mop up excess liquidity on the market.
However, this inadvertently resulted in a liquidity crunch, reducing the demand for goods and services.
All this is happening when Zimbabwe’s neighbour, Zambia, enjoys economic growth due to democracy and good governance.
Speaking to NewsDay, an economist, Gift Mugano, said that a continued shortage of the local currency could paralyse service delivery. Said Mugano:
The government closed the tap on liquidity, which further confirms the long-held belief that government is the biggest driver of inflation.
So now that they have stopped pumping money into the market, the results are clear.
Service providers play a very important role, so withholding funds is just a disaster for service delivery. The situation only indicates bankruptcy.
In future, companies whose payments have been delayed will refuse to do business with the government and this will result in a total collapse of public services and the projects that the government is working on.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) president Kurai Matsheza bemoaned the suspension of payments to government contractors saying it is negatively affecting production. Said Matsheza:
What it means is less cash in the markets, and less product off-take so it means production will go down because companies can’t produce stock as they have no funds.
We, however, hope that this would be temporary and not a long-term solution so that business goes back to normal.
Malema Shoves Dudula Over Zimbabweans
By The Citizen- Tensions flared at Kalafong Hospital in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, Thursday as disgruntled members of Operation Dudula and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) attacked one another, following weeks of protests outside institutions which have provided healthcare services to “suspected migrants”.
Following the clashes, the union Democratic Nursing Organisation of SA (Denosa)slammed the government’s slow response to the crisis, saying it was disappointing that it took more than two weeks for Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla to deal with the issue.
Denosa’s Bongani Banda blamed the department and police for failing to intervene before the matter descended into violence, while the situation has “clearly placed the lives of healthcare workers, patients and now bystanders in danger”.
“It’s disappointing that it has come to this for the department, hospital and police to take this matter seriously,” he said.
Hospital management obtained a court interdict last Friday against Operation Dudula, which ordered the movement to disperse, and stated that the picket outside the facility was illegal.
However, police and management have failed to enforce the interdict. The interdict with case number 017921/2022 – which was placed outside the hospital entrance – did not have a signature or stamp from the court, “which is why we won’t even consider it”, said Dudula members when asked why they disregarded the order.
During a site visit to assess the impact of the current sporadic protests on access to health services, Phaahla condemned the protesters and urged Dudula members to let the government do its work.
“These activities are a violation of the South African constitution and deprives people of their fundamental rights and are consequently illegal,” he said.
Phaahla said as government, they were obliged by the constitution and the law to make sure that people had access to healthcare services and that “no one may be refused emergency medical treatment”.
However, Elias Makgwadi, Dudula chair in Atteridgeville, said residents were not happy with the services provided at the hospital.
He said the sick and frail were “always turned away because the hospital has no beds and then we find out that they are giving those beds to illegal foreigners”.
Makgwadi claimed the hospital was lenient on foreigners when it comes to producing documentation and paying medical fees.
“They would rather tell locals they don’t have beds. They even fail to hand over illegal foreigners, whom they’ve treated, to immigration officers when they can’t produce documentation,” he said.

Teen Crushed To Death By Train While Wearing Headphones

Mphoko Son Arrested Over Rape Allegations
SIQOKOQELA Mphoko (44), son of the former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, is facing charges of raping a 12-year-old girl and for escaping from police custody.
Mphoko, who is facing three counts of rape, was remanded in custody to September 15 by regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira.
Allegations are that sometime between July and August this year, Mphoko raped the girl three times in Hillside in Bulawayo.
Mr Khuphe said a medical examination was conducted and a report will be produced in court as evidence.
The court also heard that on Tuesday at around 4.30pm at ZRP Hillside charge office, Mphoko was arrested and brought to the charge office for a crime of rape by Assistant Inspector Admire Donha.
While in the charge office he was booked for detention under ZRP Hillside detention book reference number 284/22 and he had signed for his belongings for detention.
“The accused person requested to get his medication from his motor vehicle which was parked outside the police station. The accused person was escorted by Constable Chimuka to his motor vehicle, he however jumped into his vehicle and sped off to unknown destination,” said Mr Khuphe
Mphoko was represented by Mr Thabekhulu Dube of Ncube and Partners Legal Practitioners.
On Wednesday morning, Mphoko posted online through a video on Ezra Tshisa Sibanda’s Facebook page saying he was handing himself over to police after running away.
“Good morning to everybody, my name is Siqokoqela Mphoko. A praying man, a God-Fearing man and a family man. Today… Yesterday actually, I was called to the Hillside Police Station and a rape charge laid against me. No investigations were done, but that’s still fine.
“Yesterday, I ran away from the police station because I felt that there was no fairness in my case. I felt that things were not done properly and I felt that there was a hand behind it that is not Government.” -state media

Wife Nudes: Man Kills Self
A man from Njube suburb committed suicide after he allegedly stumbled on nudes on his wife’s phone.
Tinashe Moyo (43) and his wife Simangaliso Ndlovu (29) were at their home when the startling images came to his attention. While they were in the bedroom, Moyo asked to use his wife’s phone to make a WhatsApp call and she hesitantly handed it over to him, the insider said.
Her actions made him suspicious.
While he was clutching the gadget, an image popped up on his wife’s phone. He viewed it and was left shocked after seeing that it was a nude from a mystery man.
After that a heated argument ensued between the pair as Moyo quizzed his wife about the picture but his wife professed ignorance about it but more revelations were yet to unfold.
“He got shocked when he saw many nude pictures on his wife’s phone which she had exchanged with her secret lover,” the insider said.
He quizzed her about the raunchy pictures and his wife ended up confessing that she cheated on him.
Moyo left home for a binge and returned later in the night. He found his wife sleeping and headed to a tree in the yard and hung himself with a rope. Ndlovu saw his lifeless body hanging from a tree the next morning.
She informed neighbours who then called the police.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged community members to seek counselling from relatives, friends, pastors or police’s Victim Friendly Unit. -B Metro
Bigamous Doctor Trapped
A Bulawayo medical doctor finds herself in the middle of an adultery storm after it emerged that her husband committed bigamy by marrying her while he was still hooked up with another woman.
The woman, Loveness Sherekete, allegedly got married to Derrick Ndebele (66) from Hillcrest suburb who is reportedly still married to his first wife Catherine Rice Mashakada (57) from Burnside suburb.
The matter came to light following the arrest of Ndebele and his subsequent appearance in court charged with bigamy as defined in Section 104 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
Ndebele was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to today (2 September).
Allegations against Ndebele are that he married Loveness while his marriage with Catherine was still legally subsisting.
Court records show that Ndebele and Catherine got married on 9 March 1986, under a monogamous marriage in terms of the Marriages Act Chapter 37 at Gwanda Magistrates Court.
The marriage still subsists and the couple had three children who are all above the age of 18 now.
It is reported that sometime in 2003, as per agreement between the two parties, Catherine left the country for work in the United Kingdom, leaving her husband behind with their children at their house in Waterford suburb.
In 2004, Ndebele reportedly followed his wife to the UK with their three children and he stayed for almost a month before he came back with one of the children.
When he came back, Ndebele reportedly sold their matrimonial house in Waterford and bought another one in Hillcrest and Catherine was privy to that.
It is further reported that sometime in 2006 Ndebele fell in love with Loveness and the two started staying together in Hillcrest suburb as “husband and wife”.
It is yet to be proven that the two parties – Ndebele and Loveness – went through both Shona and Ndebele customary marriage practices and two ceremonies were held in Harare and Tsholotsho respectively.
The first ceremony was held at Loveness’ parents’ house in Budiriro, in Harare and the second ceremony was held at Ndebele’s father’s homestead in Mvundlana Village under Chief Ngqoya in Tsholotsho as per Ndebele culture.
Investigations at the Civil Registry Department revealed that Catherine’s husband and Loveness had a child together who was born on 31 March 2010.
The State alleges that Ndebele committed an offence of bigamy since he knew that his monogamous marriage with Catherine did not allow him to enter into any other form of marriage.
That subsequently led to his arrest. -B Metro
Caps United Problems Continue
CAPS United players have for the second week in succession boycotted training citing outstanding salaries.
The Green Machine’s eagerly-awaited ‘Battle of the Cities’ against Highlanders was in doubt last week after Lloyd Chitembwe’s men refused to train, accusing the Farai Jere-led executive of not being honest with them over outstanding salaries and winning bonuses.
They were given USD200 each for them to fulfill the match against Bosso, which they went on to lose 1-2 and promised that their salaries would be paid in full, the following Monday.
On Monday, the Jere-led executive communicated of a delay and assured them the money would be deposited on Wednesday.
That did not happen and the players decided to down tools for the umpteenth time.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Horror As Train Crushes Boy …

Robbers Pounce On Barcelona Star
Barcelona Striker Aubameyang Out For 3 Weeks After His Jaw Fractured In Attack On His Home
Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to be out of action for three weeks after suffering a minor fracture of his jaw in the attack on his home over the weekend.
The former Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal striker was attacked and robbed at his home by four people wearing masks, club officials have confirmed.
The Spanish giants have said that he and his wife had been threatened with guns and iron bars but, despite the robbery, they are both doing well.
According to Spanish outlet El Pais, as quoted by Sky Sports, the 33-year-old striker was hit and forced to open a safe where the couple stored jewellery. The report says that the couple were tied up and handcuffed during the incident which took place on Monday.
Authorities have reportedly said at least four masked robbers entered Aubameyang’s house, where he lives with his wife and two children just outside of Barcelona in Castelldefels.
ESPN say that the Gabon international’s home is just 200 metres from houses owned by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
ESPN add that Aubameyang returned from Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Real Valladolid on Sunday evening shortly before the incident occurred. The report concludes by referencing police sources, claiming that the gang is yet to be caught.- Pindula News

Malema Clashes With Dudula Over Zimbabweans
By The Citizen- Tensions flared at Kalafong Hospital in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, today as disgruntled members of Operation Dudula and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) attacked one another, following weeks of protests outside institutions which have provided healthcare services to “suspected migrants”.
Following the clashes, union Democratic Nursing Organisation of SA (Denosa)slammed government’s slow response to the crisis, saying it was disappointed that it took more than two weeks for Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla to deal with the issue.
Serial rapist handed three life sentences

Zambian Kwacha Overtakes World’s Best Currencies
By-The Zambian Kwacha has overtaken the world’s best performing currencies.
Some of the best currencies overtaken by Kwacha as of September 1, 2022, included the Russian Ruble.
Limpopo Health MEC Takes Mnangagwa Head-On
By James Gwati- Limpopo Health provincial minister Dr Phophi Ramathuba has repeated her attacks on Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In a fresh video, Dr Ramathuba, said Mnangagwa was just seated in Zimbabwe while the country’s health delivery system was dilapidating.
She said South Africa would treat Zimbabweans visiting their hospitals and send the bills to Mnangagwa.
Dr Ramathuba last week told a Zimbabwean patient waiting for surgery at a health institution in Limpopo that Zimbabweans were straining South Africa’s health systems.
She also said that Harare was not giving her a budget for its citizens’ health care in South Africa.
Dr Ramathuba said this in front of patients and several health workers to the embarrassment of the ailing Zimbabwean on a death bed.
On Tuesday, Ramaphosa said Dr Ramathuba was right to answer questions from parliament virtually.
He said: What she said was an issue which has sparked debate here in South Africa, in Zimbabwe and the whole region, and it’s an issue which our people have also been complaining about. Now that she said it, we will discuss it at a head of the state level and see what is needed on our migration policies,” he said without condemning Dr Ramathuba.
The Zimbabwean South African embassy has since made an official complaint against the MEC.
Chipangano Hijacks Free Job Sikhala Campaign
By-Former Chipangano ring leader and Ex-Zanu PF youth boss Jim Kunaka, has hijacked the CCC campaign against the continued persecution of Job Sikhala.
Chipangano is a Mbare-based Zanu PF militia that used to terrorise opposition supporters during the late Robert Mugabe.
Sikhala has been languishing in prison for over two months after his arrest in Nyatsime for representing the family of his murdered party activist, Moreblessing Ali.
The police said Sikhala incited violence.
Since his arrest, there have been calls for the state to grant the CCC deputy chairman bail.
Jim Kunaka on Wednesday said CCC leader Nelson Chamisa was not doing enough to push for Sikhala’s release.
Kunaka made the remarks at a news conference under the banner of the newly formed Friends of Job Sikhala Solidarity Trust.
He said:
We know the dynamics of power in CCC. There is one who is afraid that Job Sikhala will take power away from him.
Gentlemen, when we have reached such a critical stage, let us forget about power. It’s useless to want power, sacrificing one of your own, simply because you are afraid they will overtake you.
All MPs are quiet, going to parliament business drinking tea, mixing and mingling with the likes of Ziyambi Ziyambi, failing to tell that minister of justice to remove his hand he put in the judiciary.
Kunaka said President Emmerson Mnangagwa was manipulating the courts to keep opposition members in jail.
He urged CCC to step aside if they were finding it difficult to rescue Sikhala saying “the real citizens will take the lead and will see if Sikhala will not be released from prison.”

Gerrard Worried About Future
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has admitted he feels the heat after yet another defeat in the Premier League.
The former England international has overseen a poor start to the season at the Birmingham-based side, having won only one game and lost four.
Yesterday’s 1-2 defeat to early pacesetters Arsenal was the claret and blue’s third loss on the trot in the league.
Gabriel Jesus thrust the Gunners ahead on the half-hour mark before his namesake Gabriel Martinelli put the final nail on the Villa coffin in the 77th minute.
Gerrad admits he feels the pressure and is worried about his future.
“I’m really honest and critical of myself. If I stood here and said I wasn’t worried, I think you’d look at me like I’m from another planet,” he said after the game.
“I will push forward and take responsibility as best I can. We have shown character and commitment and we have hung on at times, but if we continue to get important moments in key areas we will continue to concede goals.
“We talk about it almost every day and it’s really frustrating that the messages don’t seem to get through,” Gerrard added.

Facts About Sexual Health
On World Sexual Health Day, WHO celebrates every person’s right to sexual wellbeing
How does the World Health Organization (WHO) define sexual health – and what do we bring to this annual, global celebration of sexual health, well-being and rights for all?
From the absence of disease to well-being: the continuum of sexual health
Sexual health is relevant throughout a person’s life, through to adolescence and into older age – not only during their reproductive years.
It is determined by the quality and safety of people’s relationships: with oneself and other individuals, with family and friends, and the society in which we live, including the gender norms that shape our experiences. These relationships are themselves dependent on whether everyone’s human rights related to their sexuality are realised and protected.
WHO’s working definition of sexual health emphasises a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, one that cannot be separated from sexual well-being:
“Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity.
Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, protected and fulfilled.”
What is WHO doing to promote sexual health and well-being?
Enabling all people to achieve sexual health and well-being requires tailoring normative guidance and national programming to meet their specific needs and lived experience: welcoming and inclusive of people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions, sexual characteristics, people living with HIV, and with disability.
“Sexual health is not a fixed state of being, and every person’s needs will change across the life course,” said Ian Askew, Director of the WHO Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research department, including the United Nations Special Research Programme HRP.
“This is why it is crucial for WHO, together with HRP, to undertake a range of activities across this continuum: from support of sexual well-being, to prevention and management of disease.”
WHO and HRP activities include:
education, counselling and care related to sexuality, sexual identity, and sexual relationships
addressing sexual function and psychosexual counselling
promoting positive sexual and psychosocial development
prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV
prevention and management of cervical and other cancers of the reproductive system.
Sexual well-being can be conceptualised in various ways, including sexual respect, sexual pleasure, sexual self-esteem and self-determination in one’s sexual life.
Robust, transparent and comparable sexual health-related data are needed to ensure adequate services. WHO and HRP are coordinating a global research programme to better understand people’s sexual practices, behaviours and health outcomes and inform national programming to achieve sexual well-being. WHO and HRP are also exploring whether sexual and reproductive health interventions which incorporate sexual pleasure considerations improve relevant health outcomes.
What next for sexual health and well-being?
Interventions specifically intended to improve sexual well-being are gradually emerging.
A major milestone is the new edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) which has a chapter on sexual health for the first time. By providing the latest evidence-based definitions, WHO is facilitating the diagnosis and appropriate management for a wide variety of conditions related to sexual health. Countries will begin using this chapter from January 2022.
Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is a curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about the cognitive, emotional, physical and social aspects of sexuality. WHO recently collaborated with partners, including HRP, to develop guidance for out-of-school CSE programmes that are appropriate and safe for different groups of children and young people. This complements the guidance developed by the United Nations on school-based sexuality education. Both these guidance documents reiterated that sexual activity part of normal and healthy living, as is giving and receiving sexual pleasure.
Another recommendation is for policy-makers to integrate brief sexuality-related communication when possible, a clinical tool for behaviour change which takes a holistic and positive understanding of sexual health and sexuality.
Sadly, this is not everyone’s reality. Many women, girls and gender-diverse persons experience non-consensual and violent sexual activity. WHO and HRP are supporting national efforts around the world to prevent and manage the consequences of all forms of sexual violence.
To eliminate diseases that affect sexual health, WHO is developing new global strategies to address STIs, including HIV – while taking into account the current pandemic-induced health system disruptions.
Addressing challenges in sexual health and well-being
To eliminate diseases that affect sexual health, WHO is developing new global strategies to address sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, while taking into account the current pandemic-induced health system disruptions.
Given the many evidence gaps for achieving universal access to STI/HIV services, WHO is currently prioritising a research agenda for improving the implementation of national STI programmes. This agenda will complement WHO’s leadership in developing innovative point of care tests (POTCs) for quicker and more accurate diagnostic testing, and in specifying the “Global STI Vaccine Roadmap” to guide research and development for new vaccines against STIs.
One particularly pernicious disease associated with sexual activity is cervical cancer. WHO has launched a global strategy to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer, and most recently issued a guideline for screening and treatment of cervical pre-cancer lesions, a key intervention for cancer prevention and control.
A central aspect of being human
Good sexual health is fundamental to the overall health and well-being of individuals, couples and families, and to the social and economic development of communities and countries.
While sexual health and rights and reproductive health and rights are closely linked, crucial aspects of sexual health can be overlooked when grouped under the domain of reproductive health. WHO is committed to identifying and promoting sexual health itself, so that everyone, everywhere is able to fulfil their human rights related to their sexuality and sexual well-being.

Meekness in the Crucible
Sabbath School Summary
By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Meekness in the Crucible
Lesson 10
Memory Text: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5, NKJV).
INTRODUCTION
We don’t hear the word meek used much, except maybe when reading about Moses or studying the Beatitudes. It’s not hard to figure out why, either. Meekness is defined as “enduring injury with patience and without resentment.” No wonder we don’t hear much about it; it’s hardly a trait well respected in cultures today. Sometimes the Bible translates this word as “humble.” Again, humility isn’t a character trait seen as desirable by most cultures either. But meekness, enduring injury with patience and without resentment, is one of the most powerful characteristics of Jesus and His followers. And yet, it’s not an end in itself: meekness of spirit can be a powerful weapon in the hands of those who are in the midst of pain and suffering. Indeed, the crucible is a great place to learn meekness of heart, for through our own meekness and broken places we can be powerful witnesses for God.
The Week at a Glance: What is the relationship between suffering and meekness? How can we, in our own meekness and broken places, be a witness to others? How can meekness really be a strength, not a weakness, for the Christian?
SABBATH: Meekness is not taking offense at the offenses of others. When grieved, the meek put up with it. They forgive seventy times seven. To be meek is to endure injury with patience without anger. No wonder it is not a trait hailed in a world where we’re told to fight for our rights. Meekness is at times termed as humility in the Bible. It is a trait of Jesus & His saints. In the crucible, we can learn meekness.
SUNDAY: Meekness has to do with other people. A meek is known by being put with those who’d try his temper. It’s a life of service. Moses endured gossip & Joseph endured betrayal to manifest God’s grace & care for others. Oswald Chambers says we’re to be “broken bread & poured-out wine” for others. Our test can be to others a testimony. Ezekiel was set as a sign to Israel in his afflictions (Ezek. 24:15-27).
MONDAY: The meek sees himself to be less than the least of all men, the chief of sinners, not superior to others, & a debtor of God’s grace. Moses, when given the chance to be esteemed & Israel condemned chose to suffer with his people. It was a test from God on Moses & the patriarch passed his test. We can face a crucible to proof our love for others (Exod. 32:1-14). Grace found Miriam (Num. 12; 16).
TUESDAY: God dislikes sin but He love sinners. We are also to dislike the wrong of others but love them. It’s to dislike the dirt a pearl is hide in but loving the pearl in the dirt. “God does not love us because we are nature lovable. But we become lovable because He loves us.” We are to love & pray for our enemies. Jesus tells of how His Father treat us amidst our sins. We’re to imitate Him (Matt. 5:43-48). Show care!
WEDNESDAY: Those who’re meek seldom complain. They do not talk of being born on a wrong planet or ask “why me?” when tried. They’re dumb with silence in trials & talk only to praise God. It’s awful to be treated unjustly by others & we’re often prone to put things right. But Peter tells us to copy Christ (1 Pet. 2:18-25). Christ’s silence before Pilate when He could talk testifies of His meekness (Matt. 11:29).
THURSDAY: Meekness is the exact opposite of pride. Often, the most proud people & arrogant are those who suffer from low self-esteem. They cover their lack of humility & meekness, sometimes unaware, with pride. They crave for security & worthiness. We find that only in God. Meekness isn’t weakness but shows we’re rooted in God. We’ll be hated for no cause but God’s got us (Ps. 62:1-8, UL, p. 177).
FRIDAY: The difficulties we face can be lessened by that meekness which hides itself in Christ. We’ll rise above the annoyance & insult we face daily with meekness. The highest proof of nobility in Christ is self-control. Anyone who under abuse fails to be calm robs God of His right to reveal in him His own perfection of character. Lowliness of heart is the strength that gives victory to the followers of Christ.

Discussion Questions
? How does humility allow us to “rise above” hurts and annoyances? What do you think is the most important characteristic of humility that allows us to do this?
? In your own particular culture, how are the characteristics of humility and meekness viewed? Are they respected, despised, or what? What kind of pressures do you face in your culture that work against you in cultivating these characteristics?
? Are there any great examples of meekness and humility among people alive today? If so, who are they, how have they expressed these traits, and what can you learn from them?
? Why is it that we so often equate meekness and humility with weakness?
? We saw how David sought the Lord as a refuge. But how does that work? How is that refuge always manifested? In other words, how can we, as a church, be a refuge for those who need a refuge? What kind of refuge does your own local church provide? What can you do to help make it a place of refuge for those who need it?

Wear Face Masks For Your Own Safety, Police Tell Citizens
Zimbabweans should abide by the conditions that the Government set when it lifted the mandatory wearing of face masks for their own safety, and not out of fear of being arrested, the police said yesterday.
The Government last week waived the mandatory wearing of face masks in public for those who have received the three World Health Organisation recommended vaccines.
But they should still wear them in closed spaces and also carry their vaccination cards all the time for proof.
Following the announcement, most people have stopped wearing face masks including in public transport, despite statistics indicating a low vaccination uptake since the government started rolling out the programme two years ago.
The police have not been visible in enforcing the rule, despite most people being known to have received only two jabs, as statistics of those who got the third jab are disappointingly low.
Many Zimbabweans were reluctant to get vaccinated due to myths that were associated with the medicines. The high number of deaths during the first days spurred people to get jabbed, but as cases declined, the uptake also went down.
Also the myth that the corona virus thrives under cold conditions has led many to believe that the approaching summer will take away the danger completely and as a result, the country risks experiencing a wave of new infections and deaths as citizens mistake the lull in cases since the winter season ended as sign that the disease has gone.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told New Ziana that enforcement of the rules that the Government set remained one of the top priorities for the law enforcement agents.
“The Government has made it clear that the wearing of masks is still valid and only those who have taken three jabs cannot wear the face masks in certain places.
“For example, indoors they have to wear masks,” he said.
“The public should not wait to be arrested by the police. They must wear masks for their own safety.”
A survey in the capital showed that since the announcement, many people were moving around without face masks while the few who had them, were wearing them bellow the chins in readiness to pull them up when they saw the police.
The situation was worse in high density areas, where very few were still bothering to wear the protective face coverings, while all shops also no longer required customers to put them on.
Levels of consciousness about personal health are also showing among the citizens, as those who care about their safety are wearing the protective face cloths in public transport while the majority are not bothering to do so.
The categories still donning face masks include mostly the elderly and middle aged women, while the majority of young people have thrown caution to the wind.
As of last Friday, the country had recorded 16 Covid-19 related deaths this month alone, after a lull in both infections and deaths since the beginning of the year.
Mwonzora Showers Mnangagwa With Praises
MDC-T leader Mr Douglas Mwonzora has hailed the Second Republic for progress made in the construction of Lake Gwayi-Shangani.
Upon completion, Lake Gwayi-Shangani, will become the third largest inland water body after Tugwi-Mukosi and Lake Mutirikwi, both in Masvingo Province.
The big dam is part of the National Matabeleland Zambezi Water Project, an idea which was conceived more than a century ago and has only been turned into reality by the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa.
Lake Gwayi-Shangani is expected to provide a permanent water solution for Bulawayo and the Matabeleland region.
Mr Mwonzora, addressing a Press conference in Bulawayo, said the progress made thus far by the Second Republic is impressive and it shows they are priotising Matabeleland and trying to solve the water crisis currently at hand.
“We support the effort to bring water to Matabeleland. We are in full support of the Gwayi-Shangani dam being expedited and we hope it will be done soon. We hope to see a Matabeleland that does not depend on any province once the Gwayi-Shangani dam is completed,” he said.
Mr Mwonzora said the completion of the dam will benefit Matabeleland greatly especially since it is rich in flora and fauna.
“Matabeleland is rich with flora and fauna not forgetting the livestock that is found in the province. With water this will benefit the country greatly.”
Recently, Zinwa assistant resident engineer Lucio Chayeruka said they introduced day and night shifts, each having at least 300 people as part of efforts to speed up the process.
“At any given time, we have 300 people working at the site but in total the number of people employed is 600. We now have two shifts divided into two groups, each comprising 300 people working during the day and the other at night,” he said.
“At night, we break from 12 midnight to 1AM while during the day it is from 12 midday to 2PM.”

Open Letter To Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba
Dr Tonderai Manyau| I strongly fear that we are losing it as Africans. The way we hate one another is becoming a pandemic. I have nothing personal against Dr Phophi Ramathuba, but her recent utterances about a patient straining the provincial system in Limpopo left me numb and shocked.
There is an African proverb that says, “a visitor can never finish your food”. This should teach us how to treat visitors despite their colour, race or tribe.
It is deeply rooted in the philosophy of giving and love for one another as human beings. How would we feel if or our children are denied food or water as visitors somewhere?
The problem of migration is a worldwide phenomenon and has been there for many years. There are so many reasons linked to this and we cannot exhaust them here. But, the crux of the matter is it is unjustified to dehumanise any human being based on their circumstances or migration status. Worse, denying them food, shelter or medication is more cruel. Remember we are all human beings and we should treat each other with dignity and respect always.
Our foremost African principle of ubuntu does not condone being insensitive to one another. As Africans we are all guided by this.
Ubuntu in Shona, spoken in Zimbabwe, is hunhu, in Ndebele ubuntu. In Swahili, spoken in Kenya, it is orumundu and in Herero spoken in Namibia it is omundu. The principle states that I am what I am because of others. One cannot feel better by diminishing or shaming another human being. Vulnerability is not a choice.
It is key to rethink our words and actions as leaders. Let’s use proper channels and sensible logical ways to solve issues. Attacking one’s personality or status in life is as good as attacking yourself. We are all human with the same blood and feelings and so we need to love, care and protect each other more. Unity, love, respect and being considerate among ourselves will take us far as humans.

Zimplats, Mhondoro Chiefs Purge Trust Members Resisting Withdrawal of Community Share Payment
By Staff Reporter| Zimplats and Mhondoro chiefs have once again plotted to remove critical members of the community ownership board who oppose the trust deed amendment that allows Zimplats to stop paying the 10% community shares agreed upon in 2011.
ZimEye has learned that the purge and victimization of trust members who oppose the amendment has been facilitated in order to allow Zimplats to withdraw community share ownership trust payments without consulting local communities, which is currently taking place.
At least two trust members have been expelled, and several others currently opposing the amending the trust deed are being muzzled pending dismissal.
According to sources, the Zimplats Mhondoro Ngezi Chegutu Zvimba Community Trust (ZMNCZ), led by Mhondoro chiefs, has now become a de facto extension of Zimplats, notifying members who oppose the amendment that their tenure as trust members has expired.
A source who preferred anonymity fearing victimization implicated Zimplats head corporate affairs Busi Chindove for being the mastermind behind the purges to fast track the illegal amendment of the deed.
“Zimplats boss Busi Chindove and some captured ZMNCZ board members who are chiefs are conspiring to remove board members who are not traditional chiefs.
“This is done to ensure that the trust board is limited to traditional leaders who are unaware of these important governance issues. Zimplats is using the chiefs’ ignorance about governance issues to manipulate them into implementing unfavorable policies.
“To make matters worse, Busi Chindove, has a relative on the board called Chief Murambwi who does her dirty bidding, to ensure the status quo remains so that she can easily manipulate the board,” the source said.
Community Share Ownership Trusts were established under the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act with the goal of setting up Share Ownership Trusts (CSOTs) as vehicles of community development.
The trusts obligated foreign mining companies to transfer 10% of their shareholding to ensure local communities received dividends and were direct beneficiaries of their natural resources.
The Zimbabwean government in 2018 amended the Act through the Administrative Measures and the Finance Act to remove the 51% shareholding held by indigenous people, which the incumbent President claimed restricted foreign ownership of local businesses and discouraged much-needed investment.
Critics have castigated Zimplats while being a giant platinum mining company has been failing to pay community share ownership dividends, which are being paid by smaller mining entities.
“The Zimplats and Mhondoro Ngezi cartel is currently targeting one of the board members representing the women’s quota from Zvimba.
“She was told to come to ZMNCZ on Friday to pick up the letter terminating her board membership.
“Only to be denied the letter and confronted by two ladies at reception who professed ignorance of her pending dismissal saying the CEO had instructed them to issue such a letter before being ordered out of the premises,” said another source
Efforts to reach Chindove were futile as she did not respond to the questions sent to until this publication came out.
3 Players to look out for in the 2022 World Cup
It seems crazy that the World Cup is only a few weeks away.
Having the World Cup bang in the middle of the Premier League season is unusual, but we are all looking forward to the winter competition. After all, it only comes around once every four years!

Founder
The History Of Soccer
There has been a lot of talk about what a World Cup in Qatar is going to look like. However, there is no denying that soccer is insanely popular in Qatar, and we are sure they are going to put on one hell of a show.
But what about the players? There is no denying that Erling Haaland has been the star over the past few months, but with Norway not taking part in the competition, it’s time for other players to sign.
We take a look at three players to keep a keen eye on throughout World Cup 2022:
1. Pablo Martín Páez Gavira (Gavi)
There is a lot expected of this exciting Spanish talent. He is one of Xavi’s prodigies who is playing a key role in rebuilding Barcelona at the moment.
He is already part of the Spanish midfield, and has won a number of awards, including the Kopa trophy at the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
His club manager is not surprised, with Xavi saying the following recently:
“It doesn’t surprise me, I see him train every day. It’s down to hard work, discipline and heart. He was the best player in the game, because of his intensity, fight, passing, high pressing – he has heart in his legs.”
2. Vinicius Jr
Of course, we have to mention Real Madrid and Brazil’s Vinicius Jr. It is worth noting that his 22 goal haul was only bettered by Karim Benzema, which is pretty impressive for a 22-year-old playing in La Liga.
There is a feeling that this could be Vinicius Jr’s year on the international stage. While has not been as prolific for Brazil, he is part of a team that has not experienced a loss in the past three years, and he is only getting better.
3. Jude Bellingham
Last but not least, England have an exciting youngster on their hands in Jude Bellingham. He is currently plying his trade in Germany for Borussia Dortmund, where he made history by becoming the youngest ever captain in the Bundesliga.
We did not see Bellingham get much game time during the 2020 Euro campaign. However, he has matured immensely over the past couple of years, and the pre-tournament friendlies seem to show that he is very much in Southgate’s plans.
Which players are you most looking forward to seeing?
So there you have it: our top three picks when it comes to the players you should be keeping your eyes on during the 2022 World Cup.
Which player do you think will have a big tournament in Qatar?
Limpopo Health MEC Attacks Mnangagwa Again

Zambians Enjoy Reduced Fuel Prices
By James Gwati- Zambia has announced the reduction of fuel prices with immediate effect.
The reduction in fuel prices comes from economic stability attributed to several measures the new government is implementing.
These measures have also made the Zambian Kwacha, once the worst in recent years, the world’s second-performing currency.
The Zambian economy has improved dramatically barely a year after the opposition United Party for National Development president, Hakainde Hichilema, beat Edgar Lungu of Zambia’s founding party, the Patriotic Front.
Zambia’s ruling party spokesperson, Joseph Kalimbwe, said he was happy to see his government reducing fuel prices.
He posted on Twitter:
Due to the growing strength of the Zambian Kwacha against the USD, the prices of fuel ( petrol, diesel & kerosene ) will starting at midnight today be reduced across all Zambian service & filling stations. Again friends, thanks for trusting our party to lead the country !!!
Chamisa MP Survives Violent Zanu PF Attacks
By James Gwati- Zanu PF activists in Watsomba, Thursday disrupted a parliamentary public hearing meeting targeting the local CCC legislator, Trevor Saruwaka.
Sources who attended the meeting said that the Mutasa Central MP escaped unhurt.
The thugs, he said, started singing and sloganeering in the middle of the meeting, causing the halt of the proceedings.
” They came targeting the local Mutasa Central member of Parliament, Hon.Trevor Saruwaka and other several participants. What is worrisome is that the police did not restrain these violent youths,” said the sources.
Yesterday a similar incident happened in Bulawayo, where known Zanu PF thugs disrupted a parliament meeting with the same plan.
This also happened in the eyes of the police, but no one was arrested.
Zambian Kwacha Gains Strength Again
By James Gwati- The Zambian Kwacha, one of the worst in recent years, has stabilized to become the second-performing currency in the world.
This happened only a year after Haikainde Hachilema was voted into office, taking over from Edgar Lungu.
Zambian President Hichilema announced Wednesday, saying they have managed to tame inflation.
He posted on Twitter:
The inflation rate is under control. The Zambian Kwacha has stabilized and is getting stronger against major foreign currencies. Zambia is rising and ultimately the cost of living will be fixed.

Mnangagwa Seizes Grace Mugabe Trucks
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has been given the greenlight to forfeit to the State three trucks belonging to former first lady Mrs Grace Mugabe that were brought into Zimbabwe more than 10 years ago without payment of duty after the supplier lied to Zimra that they were only temporarily in the country.
Four South African drivers sent by the supplier to deliver the three trucks were charged with swindling Mrs Mugabe of US$1 million in a truck-deal after she complained to police that the wrong model of truck was delivered. Cassimjee Bilal, Henry Hadebe, Samuel Baloyi and Sydney Sekgobelo, all South Africans, were later granted bail pending trial but jumped bail and returned to South Africa.
NPA applied for the forfeiture of the trucks in June this year but Harare magistrate Ms Barbara Mateko threw out the State application. But on review at the High Court, Justice Pisirayi Kwenda reversed the magistrate’s decision and ordered forfeiture of the three Iveco 440 trucks to the State.
The three trucks were caught in the crossfire between Mrs Mugabe and her former associate, Ping Sung Hsieh, after a US$1 million deal went sour.
In February 2011 Bilal, Radebe, Baloyi and Sekgobela, were hired by Ping to deliver three trucks to Mrs Mugabe’s aides in Harare. Mrs Mugabe had ordered Scania trucks but Ping sent the Iveco trucks, leading Mrs Mugabe through her aide Ms Olga Bungu to file a police report.
Investigations also revealed that the drivers misrepresented to Zimra officials at the Beitbridge that the trucks were on a visit into Zimbabwe, resulting in the customs officer issuing the trucks with temporary import permits. That meant no duty was paid.
The origin of the deal dates back to 2007, when the Mugabe family agreed to buy six haulage trucks from South Africa for $1 million.
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe allegedly transferred the money to Ping’s company in South Africa but the trucks were not delivered.
Finally, on February 18 2011, Ping sent the four drivers to deliver the trucks. They were granted bail after spending two weeks in jail and barred from leaving Zimbabwe before their trial in June the same year, but they all skipped bail. – State Media
Woman Rapes 14y Old Boy
A 22-year-old Lupane woman has been arraigned before the courts for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old boy from her village into sexual intercourse.
Lupane magistrate Ndumo Masuku heard that Thobekile Moyo from Mpofu village had turned the juvenile boy, name withheld for ethical reasons, into a sexual partner as she would frequent his place of residence and sometimes ask him to accompany her for a beer drink at the nearby shops.
The sex escapade started in 2020 and the matter only came to light when suspicious villagers and the boy’s family, tracked Moyo’s footprints to the boy’s bedroom recently.
She was not asked to plead to aggravated indecent assault when she appeared before Masuku and was remanded in custody to this Friday.
Moyo was advised to approach the High Court for bail because of the seriousness of the crime.
For the State, Nobukhosi Moyo said Moyo visited the victim’s place of residence sometime in 2020 when she knocked at a bedroom hut where he was sleeping and when he opened, asked him to accompany her to her place of residence.
“The accused asked the complainant to spend the night at her place of residence and threatened to assault him when he initially refused,” said the prosecutor.
The court heard that the boy later agreed to sleep over and Moyo ordered him to remove his clothes and join her in bed whereupon the two had sex multiple times during the night.
The two continued having sex on several occasions on different days and neighbours started suspecting when they saw the two hanging around and visiting bottle stores together.
A report was made to the police when the accused’s footprints were tracked to the boy’s hut recently leading to Moyo’s arrest. -CITE

A Disgraceful Policician And Doctor Abusing A Patient
BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA | A few weeks ago the world was aghast in shock and utter dismay when it witnessed a virial vedio of the South African Health Official ( Limpopo Province MEC Phophi Ramamathuba savagely abusing a sick and powerless patiant.
In a scene that is reminiscent of hate and zhenophobia, the shameless officer berated a patient from Zimbabwe and wickedly abused her on her sickbed. The behaviour of such a senior government official was deeply depressing and highly flabbergasting.
The ostensible reasons for her melancholic diatribe included the stress that her provincial health system is under, allegedly due to foreigners squeezing out locals. On the vocabulary of the MEC foreigner means Zimbabweans and Mozambicans. Such a bankruptcy of understanding is fed into the pipal you of South Africa who are now going door to door chasing away Zimbabweans accusing them for taking their jobs and their wives.
There is something that is deeply flawed and even hypocritical about the argument that South African ills and misfortunes are the fault of foreigners, particularly Zimbabweans. Scapegoating based on nationality is a vile act and a scar to humanity. This is so particularly where, as in this case, such scapegoating has resulted into etthinic purging in South Africa, in gruesome modern that have not been witnessed elsewhere in the world and in history. This is referencing thrusting petrol-sprinkling tyres around human beings and setting them alight; crushing people’s heads with stones in front of terrified and agonised children and family. Shooting people in cold blood and attacking worshippers at their shrines blaming them for being Zimbabweans.
Let us assume that indeed Zimbabweans were wholly or even significantly responsible for South Africa ‘s failing job markert or its power public services, none of that or more would justify the inhuman, gross and obscene abuse of a patient in the manner that Ms Ramathuba did or at all. There is a place and a time to address illegal immigration issues. That place is not on a sickbed and the timing certainly is not during the sick moments of the patient.
Even if Zimbabwe was in war with South Africa ( which it is not to the best of our knowledge) that is no way to treat its citizens. There are deplomatic communication lines and channels which Ms Ramaphutha could have and should have used. In fact, a few weeks before, the Zimbabweans Foreihn Minister had been in touch with his South African counterpact. Dr Ramaphuta played to the gallery and betrayed the oath of medicine she took. Doctors do not view patients with prejudice. They view each person as a patient and leaves the politics to politicians. The vigilante style exhibited by the MEC and shockingly supported by the president Ramaphosa is shocking and disturbing.
There are two types of treatments under the South African constitution. Firstly there is emergency treatment. Anyone is entitled to this regardless of immigration status, as long as they are in South Africa. Then there is elective treatment. This is whereby people elect or choose as to when and where they would get treatment. Maternity treatment may be an example, barring an emergency delivery.
We must assume, even though it is unclear, that the patient who was abused by Dr Ramathuba was on elective treatment. Even then, the approach was not to abuse her. The approach would have been to treat her and on discharge ensure that mechanisms and processes are triggered and mobilised to force her to pay the medical bill. That is the lawful recourse that is available, not abuse and political gymicking and grand-standing.
Resort to abuse of and savagery against even illegal immigrants will never solve any problems in South Africa. No one is arguing that there are no problems. Nor is anyone condoning any illegal immigration into South Africa. However, this is not even the point here.
The point here is that when a human is lying on a bed in hospital, they have no nationality or status for purposes of treatment. They share one thing with everyone who is ill, which is that they are called are known as patients. The medical profession is blind to colour, language , nationality, status or any human distinction. Its eye must see a sick person in need of care. Dr Ramathuba’s first act of transgression was that she heard a Shona-speaking human being. That is disgraceful of a medical person or of anyone in charge of a health system. She should have heard the common language of patients , which is the cry for treatment rather than the Shona language or any other language for that matter. Patients have only one voice and language: it is the language if pain and distress. Any doctor who hears other voice must get out of the hospital and join vigilantism in the streets.
There has been numerous cases where armed robbers shoot people in the scene of robbery. While they flee the police shoot at, injure and immobilise one or more of them. They call for the ambulance, as they are duty bound to. Beyond a dangerous criminal there may be a guard to that criminal around the cloak in a hospital bed. However, doctors may also be assigned to him round the cloak. The postion here is that looking at that man, the policeman sees a criminal. Looking at the same man, the doctor sees a patient. This is the way it is. Dr Ramathuba should have seen a patient and not an illegal immigrant at a sick bed.
Dr Ramathuba’s gross abuse of the patient and her discriminative behaviour brings the medical profession world-wide into disrepute. The Professionals Health Council in South Africa is the regulatory body governing the profession in SouthAfrica. There is a clear case for Ms Ramathubaba, who is a doctor by profession, to be brought before that body to answer for her vile conduct. This is particularly so because that body should treat all cases fairly , without fear or favour and regardles of the power and status of the offender.
There is a broader concern about Dr Ramathuba’s fortuitous insults of the patient. She is a leader and she must lead by example. If she is not disciplined, South Africans must accept that a door has been opened for nurses, doctors and all medical staff to abuse patients in all hospitals and medical centres up and down the country. This is a monster that Dr Ramathuba has hatched. It will devour her own children and the children of South Africa long after foreigners are out of the picture.
Therefore, while there is a mix of immigration issues and political matters and bi-lateral affairs to be resolved, abusing patients is not only unethical, it is pure wickedness demonic and pure witchcraft.
In a lame justification when Dr Ramathuba was being interviwed by a journalist afterwards, she intimated that the vedio recorded out of context. She also intimated that the patient was given the medical help she needed, which would have been the medical operation. She claimed that the patient was even laughing. The latter excuse is akin to a rapist excusing his behaviour by saying his rape victim appeared to be enjoying it. To confuse medical care with an operation is a mind- staggering exhibition of ignorance. It is particularly worrying when it is coming from a doctor. Care is a holistic package. Caring means caring. It includes , as vital ingredients caring and the show of compassion.
Therefore medical caring is conducted with professionalism, ethics, sensitivity and impeccable sense and show of humanity.
Treating a patient with indignity and insult, as did Dr Ramathuba, is effectively denying them care. Just doing a medical operation when subjecting a patient to inhuman treatment is not caring.
In fact Dr Ramathuba’s behaviour has the potential of placing the lives of patients. The abuse that she dished out on the patient could have spiked her blood pressure; it could have messed up her insulin or coud have wrought all manner of complications in her ailing body. To that extent, Dr Ramathuba could have so easily sent the patient down to her grave.
Finally, I would want to touch on the notion that Zimbabweans are somewhat responsible for the deterioration of public services in South Africa.
It is true that Zimbabweans must enter South Africa lawfully and must abide by the laws of that country .The really demise of South Africans lie in the fact that wealth was never transferred from the small white minority and spread equitable to all. South Africa obtained political independence and is still stuck in a quagmire of economic apartheid. No amount of bashing foreign citizens would mask this. It is something that the South Africans must look in the eye and confont stoically.
What is happening now is that weak South African black politicians, working with the filthy rich white minority owners of South Africa, have invented a Dudula movement. Dudula is essentially a distraction. It is a black-on-black violence. It is a shame and scare on the face of SouthAfrica. Dr Ramaphutha is one of those unwitting or hypocritical politicians who have no appreciation of the underlying and real causes of poverty and inequality in South Africa.
Be that as it may, the relevant regulator must make Dr Ramathuba account for her actions even if her complicit politician bosses let her scot- free.
It is sad that we have people like Hopewell CHIN’ONO and CCC WHO praise South Africa for the humiliation of a fellow Zimbabwean in hospital.
In case one did not know. The poor patient was in for an operation after an accident.
Doctors must not be persuaded by politics. In particular as a doctor you must: Make the care of your patient your first concern. Treat every patient politely and considerately.
Respect patients’ dignity and privacy. Listen to patients and respect their views. Give patients information in a way they can understand.
In this case the minister violated the patient for political gains.
It is only in South Africa that a black African is made to feel that he is a foreigner in his own continent. Good Medical Practice and the Duties of a Doctor, and to their Medical Council’s performance procedures for which they provide the professional underpinning is not measured on migration basis.
The medical staff must not act as immigration officers.
Patients must be able to trust doctors with their lives and health. To justify that trust doctors must show respect for human life and make sure their practice meets the standards expected of them in four domains which are Knowlledge skills and performance.
Doctors must make sure that’ll the care of patients is their first concern. Unlike Rhamathuba doctors must provide a good standard of practice and care. They must keep their professional knowledge and skills up to date.Recognise and work within the limits of your competence. Ramat Ba’s actions exposed her virginity to humanity. Doctors must Take prompt action if they think that patient safety, dignity or comfort is being compromised. Protect and promote the health of patients and the public. They must Treat patients as individuals and respect their dignity. Treat patients politely and considerately.Respect patients’ right to confidentiality.
Work in partnership with patients. Be honest and open and act with integrity.
Never discriminate unfairly against patients or colleagues.
Never abuse your patients’ trust in you or the public’s trust in the profession.

SOLIDARITY IN PRACTICE:
Today ( Tuesday) President Nelson Chamisa and the CCC family spent hours in court with Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala who was denied bail.
16 CCC activists have spent 69 days in a pre trial detention.
We must unite together as a people to call an end to this persecution.
