CCC was also ordered to abide by the law in curbing the spread of COVID-19, which includes wearing face masks in public.

The party’s candidate, Tonderai Chikwati polled 303 votes against ZANU PF’s Kudakwashe Mafusire, who garnered 175 ballots in the Kariba Ward 5 by-election.

CCC holds eight out of nine council wards in Kariba Urban, with ZANU PF having only one.

Job Sikhala Letter From Chikurubi

Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison

Harare, Zimbabwe

03 August 2022

INTRODUCTION

I write to you all, your Excellencies, Heads of State and Heads of Government in my capacity as a citizen of the global village. I am writing to you from a Maximum Security Prison in Zimbabwe, called Chikiurubi. Please bear with me on the way how this letter will reach your office as I have authorised my international lawyers Amsterdam and Partners (LF) based in Washington DC and London to circulate, and any Zimbabwean who would have come across it, to forward it to you.

My name is Job Sikhala, a Zimbabwean lawyer and opposition Member of Parliament, aged 49 years and a senior official of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party.

On the 14 June 2022 I was arrested by the Government of Zimbabwe and I am currently detained at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, for the umpteenth time. I was arrested together with another opposition Member of Parliament Godfrey Sithole, accused of the crime of incitement to cause public violence. Furthermore, the Government re-arrested me on 15 July 2022from prison and pressed more charges against me, this time charging me with defeating or obstructing the course of justice.

BACKGROUND

On 24 May 2022 a woman by the name of Moreblessing Ali, was abducted around 2100 hours and was later found brutally murdered. Her body was in a state of decomposition and cut into several pieces. Moreblessing Ali was a strong opposition activist whose murder is strongly linked to the ruling party ZANU PF.

After he abduction and forced disappearance on 24 May 2022, the murdered woman’s family engaged me to be their family lawyer. My instructions were to demand from the authorities the truth about her whereabouts and to demand justice for her. The Government in an attempt to conceal the truth about the circumstances around the depressing abduction, went into a hysterical public campaign against myself, through statements issued by senior Government officials and its propaganda mouthpieces inciting and calling for my arrest.

The campaign won and on 14 June 2022 at around 2000 hours the Government dispatched a swarm of its paratroopers, secret security agents and the police totalling over 100 members. They raided my house in the high-density suburb of St Marys in Chitiungwiza and arrested me.

Since that day of arrest to the present day I have been kept in prison at Chikiurubi, a concentration-camp monster on the outskirts of Harare. The prison resembles Adolf Hitler’s Nazi concentration camp and Josef Stalin’s Siberia. The Government courts have consistently denied me bail and are determined to keep me in this concentration camp.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF MY PERSECUTION BY THE STATE

I started public leadership since my days as a student leader at the University of Zimbabwe in the late 1990s. I was elected as the Member of Parliament for the St Mary’s constituency in the year 2000 as a young graduate. I am currently the Member of Parliament for a constituency called Zengeza West. My troubles started soon after election into public office in the year 2000.

The late former President Robert Mugabe’s government arrested me more than 60 times until the time of his downfall. Despite the 60 arrests, I was acquitted of all the politically motivated charges against me. This was so because Robert Mugabe was not one to interfere with the criminal justice system, neither did he create funny courts to persecute opponents. The judiciary in the criminal justice system operated independently of the dictator of the Executive.

Furthermore, Mugabe had no command structure to dictate what judicial officers must do against his opponents. That is the reason why his most fierce nemesis, the late Morgan Tsvangirai was acquitted of the nefarious treason charge.

On all my troubles under Robert Mugabe’s reign, the State went overboard and tortured me in the 18 January 2003 together with my (then) lawyer Gabriel Shumba, my friend Charles Mutame and Taurai Magaya. The torture ignited international outrage. It became an important issue at the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) summit held in Brisbane, Australia in 2003. It caused the swift exit of Zimbabwe from the Commonwealth.

After the downfall of former President Robert Mugabe from power in November 2017, the new ruler(s) intensified their persecution of my person. They arrested me on 26 June 2019 and accused me of treason. They alleged that I was plotting to overthrow the government using unconstitutional means. I was tried in the High Court in a city called Masvingo. I was acquitted of all the manufactured allegations.

The government did to surrender its propensity to persecute me. They arrested me again in August 2020 and the matter is still pending in the Courts up to the present accusing me of incitement to cause public violence over the public’s successful stay home of 31 July 2020.

There was no single incident ever witnessed in Zimbabwe. Unsatisfied they arrested me once more again with the prominent Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and a prominent female lawyer and my Party’s spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere accusing us of publishing falsehoods using our social media handles. For the umpteenth time, they have arrested me again in 2022 – twice – and have thrown me into this concentration camp Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

FACTS ABOUT THE PRESENT ARREST AND INCARCERATION

As alluded to above I am currently being incarcerated at the most horrible place called Chikiurubi Maximum Security Prison since 14 June 2022 up till now.

It is very clear from everything that the government and their agents have said and done, that they are determined that I should not be given bail. Their reasons are political and have nothing to do with the law. They want maximum persecution knowing that their allegations against me are frivolous and vexatious.

PRESENT STATE OF AFFAIRS IN ZIMBABWE

Since the overthrow of the late President Robert Mugabe in 2017, Zimbabwe has turned into a nightmare for opposition political persons. More than 20 people have been arrested and charged with treason. This is three times more than all the persons charged with this offence during the 37-year period of Mugabe’s rule. At present more than 100 opposition members are facing various charges in the government’s courts of law.

What makes it even more bizarre is that senior opposition political leaders, prominent journalists, civic society leaders are being regarded as critics of the government and social activists are being dragged to a specialised court called the Corruption Court. The public’s anticipation was that it would deal with corruption cases only to find out that it has been turned into a persecution court for the opponents of the government. The cases for all politically related charges are given Ant-Corruption reference case numbers. This is unprecedented in civilised societies that uphold the rule of law, democracy and constitutionalism.

My current two manufactured charges by the government are before this court, a development that has eroded public confidence in the criminal justice system of Zimbabwe. The rule of law has totally broken down here in Zimbabwe.

WHAT DO I EXPECT OF YOU

The world cannot remain silent when the people of Zimbabwe are under siege. There is total breakdown of the rule of law in Zimbabwe such that people are being thrown into prison without fair trial. The right to a fair trial is a universal concept of law and a pillar of international law. The people of Zimbabwe are denied the right to a fair trial. We don’t have fair trials here, we only have political persecution.

Now is the time for the world to speak against the excesses of the Zimbabwe government against its citizens.

Hon. Job Sikhala

ZEC Slaps Madhuku, Mwonzora USD20,000 Bill Each

“…Excessive, undemocratic and unconstitutional. ZEC fails to appreciate that a ” free and fair” election starts from that being a candidate must not be unaffordable to an ordinary politician. The amounts MUST be substantially reduced. US$500K for a party to field ALL candidates?” – Lovemore Madhuku.

“ZANU Pf is not under any pressure from citizens that’s why it has breathing room to come up with stupid rules for 2023.” – Jacob Ngarivhume

https://twitter.com/NgarivhumeJacob/status/1561033281188925442?t=y5VN92Re0ELVm50focfwKw&s=19

@ZECzim is an army project. We have done zero to correct this.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) got an immediate response yesterday after announcing steep candidate nomination fees for next year’s elections as disgruntled citizens said they would mount a court challenge.
In a statutory instrument 144 of 2022, which amended S1 153 of 2014 issued on Friday, ZEC said the cost of fielding a presidential candidate was now US$20 000 up from US$1 000, US$1 000 from US$50 and $200 for senators and councillors from US$100.

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights lawyer Obey Shava told The Standard that they were representing citizens, who were preparing to file a court challenge against the new fees.

“I confirm that there are a few people whose political rights have been infringed by the SI,” Shava said.

“The fees are too prohibitive and deny them their rights to exercise the right to vote, participate and stand for elections.”

Only Zanu PF and the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T get funding from the government, which means that most political parties will struggle to raise the money to field candidates.

Under the country’s laws, political parties are not supposed to receive foreign funding to foot the cost of participation in election processes.

This means they have to meet their own costs, but many opposition parties are already struggling to carry out various activities, including elective congresses because of financial challenges.

With the new fees, they expressed fears that they may fail to participate in next year’s elections.

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) chief elections officer Ian Makone said the new fees were “unbelievable.”

“We oppose attempts to privatise a public service, which limits opportunities for people’s choices and participation,” Makone said.

Mwonzora’s spokesperson Lloyd Damba said the fees were an assault on democracy.

“If you remember back then we had Simba Makoni who had to announce his candidature after Zanu PF frustrated all efforts to renew itself from within,” Damba said.

“If these fees were the way they have been gazetted, Makoni would not be in history books as a presidential contender.”

Zapu spokesperson Mso Ndlovu described the fees increase as an attempt to rig elections.

“Democracy now comes at a huge premium,” Ndlovu said.

“They want to ensure that those that cannot afford do not participate forgetting that those who represent the ordinary people have no means.”

Former speaker of Parliament Lovemore Moyo, who is the leader of the United Movement for Devolution, said elections were at the core of democratic processes and institutions.

“It is clear that there’s an element of collusion with (President Emmerson) Mnangagwa’s regime to restrict electoral contestation in order to facilitate election rigging,” Moyo said.

“It is ludicrous to expect political parties to fork out over US$500 000 for them to fully participate in the electoral processes.”

Bulawayo-based political commentator Effie Ncube said the country risked sliding back into a one-party state.

“With these fees ZEC is killing the multiparty democratic system contemplated in the constitution,” Ncube said.

“Also, when participating in elections requires so much money, such elections cannot be deemed free and fair because access is one of the benchmarks of a free and fair election.”

Methuseli Moyo, a political commentator, accused ZEC of commercialising politics.

“We are going to end up with a situation where maybe we have two or three parties contesting, and that limits the choice of the voters,” he said.

“We need local parties to push their local issues, and with the new fees, local parties have been destroyed.”

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition spokesperson Obert Masaraure said there was need for the masses to unite against ZEC to force it to renew the fees downwards.

“The ruling elites who have been looting state resources should not be allowed to reduce elections into an elite affair,” Masaraure said.

“The working class and the peasants, who are the worst affected should unite and fight back, demanding an inclusive electoral process.”

ZEC spokesperson Jasper Mangwana yesterday demanded written questions when asked for a comment.

Mnangagwa will be seeking a second full term in office in next year’s polls and he is likely to face CCC leader Nelson Chamisa whom he narrowly defeated in the disputed 2018 elections. -Standard

ZEC Refuses To Release Voters’ Roll

Tinashe Sambiri| The Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) has accused ZEC of playing hide and seek in terms of availing the voters’ roll.

CCC wants ZEC to release the compact voters’ roll before the delimitation exercise.

See CCC Namibia statement:

CCC Namibia demands the prompt release of the compact voters’ roll ahead of the delimitation exercise!

19 August 2022

Citizens in Namibia who subscribe to the vibrant yellow caravan engineered by the diligent and outspoken President Advocate Nelson Chamisa urge change champions to never get over-exhilarated about participating in an election without certain litmus tests being met by the remote-controlled ZEC.

It is quite perturbing that ZEC is refusing to discharge the much-needed voters’ roll which is a public document that must be accessed by the citizens ahead of the delimitation exercise. In line with Section 21 of the Electoral Act, a copy of the voters roll should be made obtainable to those who adjure it upon payment of the prescribed amount. Citizens resident in Namibia are cognizant of the fact that delimitation is set to commence soon but the captured ZEC is still reluctant to deliver the national consolidated voters roll to the grieved citizenry, political parties, and civic society organisations.

Bearing in mind that the delimitation exercise, which involves creating novel electoral frontiers, is anticipated to commence in October and end in December 2022, ZEC must respect the rule of law and constitutionalism. We expect the electoral commission to instantly release the full voters roll on a timely basis to demonstrate their allegiance to the Electoral Act and the supreme law of the motherland. ZEC’s dismal failure to provide the voters roll is a serious violation of the law and this must be resisted with equal measure. The lack of integrity evidenced during recent by-elections compels Namibia district to advocate for citizens to disband the commission for its partisan conduct.

Moreover, change champions in Namibia prioritize the strengthening of ZEC’s independence so that it is free from government oversight in the approval of its regulations, for which the amendment of the Electoral Act is fundamental. We shall soldier on recommending the timely holding of more meetings of the Multi-Party Liason Committees(MPLC) throughout the entire electoral process, as an effective conflict resolution arsenal for political parties. This will surely go a long way in creating a sound forum for reporting non-compliance with the code of conduct for free, fair, and unfettered elections in the motherland.

Furthermore, it does not require any legislative transformation as the Electoral Act foresees, in Section 160B, the formation of the Multi-Party Liason Committees at the local, constituency, and national level at any date on or after the commencing of the period of six months before the end of the five-year term of parliament. We clamour for more effective information-dissemination by the compromised ZEC to disappointed election stakeholders on all steps of election preparations with adequate transparency, making all information of public interest easily accessible forthright.

In a nutshell, citizens in Namibia demand accountability and openness from ZEC considering the discrepancies unearthed during the recent by-elections where most voters could not vote because they were deliberately displaced to give ZANU-PF an upper hand.

Without further ado, Namibia district calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the Nyatsime 16 who include Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole. Hon Sikhala and others were illegally arrested sometime in June to date and they have been denied bail several times. It is satanic to grant bail to the corrupt and extravagant ZANU-PF member of parliament Mayor Wadyajena and cronies who stole 5 million US$ but deny political prisoners arbitrarily arrested for demanding justice.

VP Chiwenga: I’ll Stop Orphans From Accessing Health Services

Health sector stakeholders and legislators say the Medical Services Amendment Bill sponsored by Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga’s Health ministry will deny orphans access to health care services if it is passed into law in its current form.

Constantino Chiwenga

Government has come up with the Medical Services Amendment Bill ostensibly to align the law to the constitution, but activists say it is a recipe for disaster.

The Bill says children under the age of 18 cannot access health services without their parents or guardians.

“Criteria for the age of consent by children should be based on the best interests of the child principle,” Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights executive director Calvin Fambirai said.

“It was also proposed that if parents or guardians were not in a position to grant such consent, there must be a provision in the law to bring in specialists (doctors, social workers, psychologists etc).”

Bulawayo proportional representation MP Jasmine Toffa raised similar concerns.

“In most cases, young children are from different environments. Some parents are working outside the country,” Toffa said.

“Some children may indulge in sexual activities and you find that the child is sick and they have to go through their mother or guardian in order for them to access health services.

“You know what our culture is like, children can’t even face their parents to tell them that they have an STI [sexually transmitted infection.

“So if children can access health services, this can go a long way in helping them and improving health services.”

Zimbabwe has an estimated 1,7 million orphans.

Advocacy Core Team co-ordinator Diana Mailosi said professionals at healthcare institutions should provide services to children without their guardians.

Fambirai implored government to shoulder the burden of providing healthcare services to citizens, instead of burdening private players with the task.

In the new Bill, government wants private players to treat emergency cases through amendment of section 76(3) of the constitution.

“Instead, the Bill should create an advisory panel to work on the general principles rather than drawing the minister to set fees,” Fambirai said.

“Involving the minister in such operational issues will affect the turnaround time given the hyper-inflationary environment.

“The reimbursement model where government reimburses for services rendered is not working effectively e.g, local authorities are owed huge sums of money by government.”

Legal think-tank, Veritas said the Bill lacked clarity in certain provisions.

“The Bill also defines the terms ‘basic healthcare’ and ‘reproductive healthcare’, which are not used anywhere in the Bill or the Act,” it said.-Standard

Why Zimbabwe Will Never Be Divided Mthwakazi Seeking To Partition The Country

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | A group calling itself Mthwakazi Republic are essentially a secessionist outfit making claim to what it calls a Mthwakazi State. The purported state comprises the two provinces of Matebeleland, including Bulawayo and the Middlands.
Mthwakazi thrives on emotionalism.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

From the outset, there has been no such state in history. It is true that our nation comprises of diverse ethinic groups which have broadly lived in their respective provinces. In pre- colonial times these various ethnic groups co-existed in that fashion.

The concept of re-winding history to feudal times is simply an illogical one. Throughout the world ( not only in Africa) communities have evolved as families, to small communities, rising to ethnic groupings and altimately to nations. Take the example of England ( excluding Wells, Ireland and Scotland). The English are not a monolithic grouping. Their language was shaped by the coming together of the dialects of the Anglos,Saxons and Jutes. The diversity of English people is marked by the perculiar regional and even sub-regional accents. The same can be said of the Shona language with its diversity.

Therefore, if a Mthwakazi Sessesion were granted, then this would trigger a dismemberment of the whole of Zimbabwe into at least five ‘republics’. It would be argued that the so-called Mthwakazi Republic would eventually disintegrate further into Kalanga Republic in the west, Suthu/ Venda Republic in the south, Tonga/Nambia repuplic in the north. The same disintegration process would be taking place in other regions until what is one nation now is a cluster of small tribal communities. Nothing of that sort is happening in the rest of the world and thankfully it will not happen in Zimbabwe, either.

There is no scientific or plausible reason or justification for entertaining a fanatic sessesionist group calling for what would lead to the wanton fragmentation our country. This group feeds on dividing people and sowing seeds of hate, agitation and ethnic resentment.

It is correct that the group ruthlessly exploit, to some extent genuine grievences. It magnifies those. The Second Republic has acknowledged historic grievences in Matebeleland and Middlands. It has not sought to deny or brush them aside. This is the reason why initiated a Peace & Healing Commission led by Justice Selo Nare.

The Peace and Reconciliation Commission is not just a forum for coming together. It is about genuine discussions with a view to finding justice and ultimate healing. Because of the scale of the work, this cannnot be done overnight, nor can it be easy and painless. Everyone must engage the Commission.

Our nation will not go far by an act continuously being on one another’s throats. We have to learn from our past errors and move on to build a stronger nation. Rwanda is an example of what can be achieved if a people choose to look foward and build for the future.

Our children deserve better than us shoving down their throats seeds of hate and division. They deserve a better nation living under one proud flag.

Those clamouring for sessessionism make no effort to outline what they will do with that. The proper approach is to put forward a program of socio- economic action to uplift the wellbeing of our nation. That is a noble thing, not a resort to the low politics of insult and tribal appeals.

It is worth noting that the CCC is silent on the sessessionist ideas. When the very existence of our state in its form , substance and shape is challenged, one would expect that those purporting to be a government in waiting will take a clear and unequivocal stance that they make known to the nation. Not so with CCC.

The eloquent silence of CCC is alarming. Contrast this with Britain’s Labour Party. They oppose the Conservative-led government in Britain. When it comes to the Scottish Independence calls, the Labour Party came out and it comes out to outline its stance. The Scottish Independence Referendum was in 2014 . In the 2015 General Election ( at the aftermath of the Scottish referendum) the Labour Party lost
40 of the 42 seats it was defending. To put the scale of the Labour Party’s electoral collapse into context, there is a total of 59 seats in the Scottish Parliament devolved Parliament, Holyrood. Therefore Labour held the overwhelming of those seats.

Labour’s principled stance and openess cost them not just seets in Holyrood but also power in Westminster. CCC need to take a leaf out of the British Labour Party. Trying to ascend to power at the back of vicious divisiveness by turning a deaf ear to an issue that potentially threaten the very survival of the nation as we know it is a higly dangerous game. It extinguish any lingering that CCC are or could ever be a serious party. CCC’s history is laced with irresponsibility, extreme childish behaviour at best.

We must maintain the unitary nature and integrity of our state. Does that mean we foolishily ignore the richness and diversity of our people Each region is different. Indeed ech town is different. In Matebelaland South Plumtree is distinct from Gwanda.

Masvingo is distinct from Mashava in Masvingo region.

This is precisely why in the National Development Stategy 1 (2021-2025) (NDS1) the government of Zimbabwe specifically recognises and embraces the concept of devolution while we maintain “the unitary architecture of the state”. This means that the NDS1 recognises that each region has different needs at different times.

Mthwakazi Republic, like all other groupings ( including naive CCC) and citizens, must support devolution plans. It works in neigbouring South Africa and the government of Zimbabwe wants to make it work in our country.

The politics of divide and rule was defeated in the Chimurenga war. It is mischief for anyone to seek to divide the country on language basis. It is a shame on Mthwakazi and its supporters. Zimbabwe must not be divided by ignorant people.
It is time for Zimbabwe to shun tribalism and build the country. Divided we fall united we stand.

Zanu PF Activist Humiliates Mohadi

SHURUGWI – A Shurugwi youth who squared off with Zanu PF vice president Kembo Mohadi at a public meeting at Chachacha Grounds in Shurugwi South on Tuesday chewed more than he could swallow as he was pulled away from the crowd and severely assaulted by security agents and Zanu PF activists.

Cuthbert Ngwenya who said that he is a Zanu Pf district chairman at Hwinya Village confirmed the incident to The Mirror and said he could not walk after the assault. He bemoaned the fact that he was beaten for merely expressing his views at a meeting.

“VP Mohadi asked for comments from the floor at the end of his speech and I raised my hand and expressed my honest opinion on the issue, and I am shocked that I was severely beaten for that.

“I was taken to Donga Police station where I was assaulted on my backside with switches and truncheons. My buttocks are swollen. I can hardly walk. The people who assaulted me included District Coordinating Committee (DCC) members, Police officers and Mohadi’s security details.

“I reported the case at Tongogara Police station on Thursday, and a docket was opened. The case is under investigation,” said Ngwenya.

The Mirror has a copy of the Police report in its hands.

Several people who were at the meeting confirmed the incident but declined to comment saying that the matter is sensitive and people can disappear.

Midlands Province Police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko said he is not aware of the issue.

The incident happened at a meeting called by Mohadi to mobilise chiefs, village heads and resettlement area chairpersons to strike a working relationship between them and the party’s DCC. After his speech, Mohadi then asked the meeting if there was anyone who could not work with the DCC.

Ngwenya stood up and said yes. He declared to Mohadi that people were not willing and were not going to work with the DCC.

Mohadi called Ngwenya to the front to give reasons for his answer but the latter was grabbed and whisked away from the meeting as he was just about to receive the mic. He was severely assaulted by security agents and DCC members, he told The Mirror.

“I have been sent by President Mnangagwa to ask chiefs and other traditional leaders to work with the DCC because the people belong to you. Is there anyone with a problem working with the DCC in preparation for the elections?” asked Mohadi.

Ngwenya shot up and answered.

“Yes, we have problems with the DCC. We are not going to work with that structure,” said Ngwenya.

There was a momentary silence before Mohadi called Ngwenya to the front to explain why he could not work with the DCCs. He never came back to the meeting.- The Mirror

CCC Champions Denied Bail Again

Heartbreaking News

Today, 11 Citizens Coalition for Change Nyatsime supporters denied bail today at High Court

As Harare Magistrate gave corrupt Zanu PF mp Wadyajena bail

19 August 2022

Wezhira Munya

It was heart breaking moment in Harare High Court when the high court judge denied bail to 11 Citizens Coalition for Change supporters.

CCC party spokesperson advocate Mahere posted on her twitter few minutes ago, “Breaking: The High Court has denied 11 members of #Nyatsime16 bail. The 11 are: Chauya Shopa, Precious Jeche, Odius Makoma, Misheck Guzha, Zecks Makoni, Zephaniah Chinembiri, Roan Tsoka, Shepherd Bulakisi, Tatenda Pindahama, Enock Tsoka, Emmanuel Muradzikwa.”

They have been in prison for more than 50 days, after being arrested on allegations that they destroyed Zanu PF members property in Nyatsime after death of Moreblessing Ali.

Moreblessing Ali was killed by Zanu PF member and her body was found in a shallow well.

In addition, CCC members of Parliament hon. Job Sikhala and Hon Godfrey Sithole a languishing in Chikurumbi maximum prison.

The courts have also denied hon Sikhala and Hon Sithole bail. Today, marks almost 70days of hon Sikhala and Sithole in prison.

Interesting, corrupt Zanu PF member of Parliament Mayor Wadyajena stole US$5 million and he was given bail yesterday and his accomplices. Wajena only spend a night in prison.

Courts are treating Zanu PF officials with kind gloves and severely punish opposition CCC supporters.

Meanwhile, CCC party and well wishers are supporting the families of 16 Nyatsime members , hon Sikhala and Hon. Sithole families with moral, spiritual, financial and material support.

Luton Town To Make Decision On Muskwe Future

Luton Town will decide on sending Admiral Muskwe on loan before the end of the transfer window.

Muskwe hasn’t earned any significant amount of time on the pitch this term, featuring for a mere 134 minutes across two appearances.

The 23-year-old striker’s only start so far came in the 3-2 Carabao Cup first round defeat to Newport County last week.

He was not included in the matchday squads for the first three league games of the season.

Luton coach Nathan Jones told The Lutonian newspaper: “You can keep everyone around if they all get minutes and they all stay fit and potent then you’d be brilliant, but we have to understand that not everyone can play and invariably people will start to lose a little bit of that zest and that zip and that’s why they go out on loan.

“It’s just about game time for them (Muskwe and Carlos Mendes Gomes), we like them, they’re good players, it’s just about getting game time.”

Jones added: “They would have done (gone on loan) regardless of the cup, there’s one or two that need the exposure, need the game time for their own development and their own sanity really, so we’ve always known that and we were going to play them in the Newport game as we had eight, maybe nine games in a month.

“We knew it was going to be tough, and we’ll need the squad, so when we have a number of players that are potentially available (on loan) just to keep their development moving forward.

“We want to make sure we get the right club for them and get the right people coming in for them, and once they do that, provided we can do a deal, they’ll get the game time they need.”

Muskwe arrived at Luton ahead of the 2021/22 season after leaving Leicester City U23s.

The Warriors international made 23 appearances across all competitions in his injury-ravaged debut campaign for the Championship side.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Casemiro Leaves Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Casemiro’s decision to leave the club.

The midfielder wants to join Manchester United, and the EPL side’s representatives have been holding discussions with Madrid chiefs in the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti confirmed Casemiro’s impending departure in his Friday press conference:

“Casemiro wants to try a new challenge, and we understand that. After what he’s done for this club, we should respect his decision.”

The coach added: “Casemiro is leaving, but we have a lot of resources to replace him. There is no turning back Casemiro has decided to try a new challenge. We want to wish him the very best. I realized Casemiro is leaving yesterday, but our plans don’t change – we’ll compete for everything with or without Casemiro.

“I think Casemiro has been a key player for us. He was important to Kroos and Modric – the combination was key to success. Casemiro’s teammates understand his decision. They respect it – it was his will to try a new challenge, and we have to accept it.”

The Brazilian, who has won 18 trophies at Real Madrid, including three league titles and five Champions League crowns, is set to fly out to Manchester for a medical and complete the transfer as soon as possible.

United will reportedly pay a €60m fixed fee plus €10m in add-ons.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Sikhala, Sithole In D Class Section

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF regime has confined CCC officials Hon Job Sikhala and Hon Godfrey Karakadzai Sithole to the ‘D’ Class Section at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.

The ‘D’ class section is for dangerous criminals and lawyers argue the two do not deserve to be in the category.

According to Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), Hon Sikhala and Hon Sithole are being treated in a cruel and denigrating manner.

See ZHLR statement:

We have protested to ZPCS against the inhuman, cruel & degrading treatment of Hon. Job Sikhala & Hon. Godfrey Sithole who are constantly shackled in leg irons in prison & are sustaining bruises.

Some visitors are also being turned away when they bring food for Hon. Sikhala.

Our lawyers Rose Hanzi & Idirashe registered concern that Hon. Sikhala & Hon. Sithole are being detained in the “D” class section which is the detention section for dangerous & convicted criminals & yet the 2 legislators have not been convicted of any crime.

We want ZPCS to take corrective measures & detain the 2 in conditions that do not amount to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Several human rights defenders have been shackled & detained at the D Class section. D Class section is supposed to house Dangerous inmates (convicted of crimes) those facing serious charges like murder.

Detaining HRDs or political leaders at this section is tantamount to persecution.

CCC, ZEC Clash Over Voters Roll

Key Facts About HIV/ AIDS

HIV/AIDS remains one of the world’s most significant public health challenges, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

As a result of recent advances in access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), HIV-positive people now live longer and healthier lives. In addition, it has been confirmed that ART prevents onward transmission of HIV.

An estimated 28.7 million people were receiving HIV treatment in 2021. Globally, 75% of the 38.4 million people living with HIV in 2021 were receiving ART.

Progress has also been made in preventing and eliminating mother-to-child transmission and keeping mothers alive. In 2021, 81% of all pregnant women living with HIV, or 1.1 million women, received antiretrovirals (ARVs).

WHO has released a set of normative guidelines and provides support to countries in formulating and implementing policies and programmes to improve and scale up HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services for all people in need.

This fact file provides current data on the disease, and ways to prevent and treat it.

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infects cells of the immune system
Infection results in the progressive deterioration of the immune system, breaking down the body’s ability to fend off some infections and other diseases. AIDS (Acquired immune deficiency syndrome) refers to the most advanced stages of HIV infection, defined by the occurrence of any of more than 20 opportunistic infections or related cancers.

Access to preventive interventions remains limited in many low- and middle-income countries.

But progress has been made in some areas such as prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and keeping mothers alive. In 2021, 81% of all pregnant women living with HIV – 1.1 million women – received antiretrovirals worldwide. In 2015, Cuba was the first country declared by WHO as having eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. By the end of 2021, 15 countries and territories were validated for eliminating mother-to-child HIV.

Woman, Two Minors Booted Out

By A Correspondent- A city woman claims her husband chased her away from their matrimonial home, together with her two children, at night.

Nyasha Chimanga revealed this at the Harare Civil Court, where she applied for a protection order, against Talent Kafira.

Nyasha told the court Talent chased her away from their house, while they were enjoying their supper.

She alleged her husband was in the habit of assaulting her, in front of their two minor children.

“I can’t keep on tolerating this kind of behaviour anymore.

“Currently, I am staying at my mother’s house because he chased me away at night, together with our children, and locked the gate.

“The worst part is that he did not even give us time to finish the food.

“He threw our food outside and forced us to leave the house at night,” claimed Nyasha.

In response, Talent told the court it was a mistake, since he was emotional, about his wife’s behaviour.

He claimed they were having marital issues and he wanted to engage their families. I am a human being and I make mistakes. I over reacted that night, that’s all l can say,” he said.

In her ruling, magistrate Sharon Mashavire granted the protection order in Nyasha’s favour.

8 Gweru Cops Steal US$1k From Suspect

By A Correspondent- Eight Gweru-based police officers have been arrested for allegedly stealing US$1 000 from a suspect before assaulting him with batons, resulting in him sustaining a fracture on the right leg and a damaged right ear.

Vunganai Chivore (46), Knowledge Musariri (32), Lenias Mukondiwa (35), Edmund Masokwedza (26), Wellington Mada (34), Simplicio Mutema (35), Fendon Mapengo (43) and Elias Chengeta (33)–whose ranks were not mentioned– appeared before Gweru Magistrate Mr Blessing Tsingano. Each of them faced a count of assault and theft.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded to July 26 out of custody on free bail.

A medical doctor who treated the complainant, Mr Darlington Jambo, is expected to testify on the next remand date.

The court heard when Mr Jambo wanted to report the police officers for assault and theft, no police officers in Gweru wanted to take up the matter.

It was only after Mr Jambo approached the police headquarters that the officer- in -charge of Senga Police Station was ordered to take the report leading to the officers’ arrest.

The accused officers reside in police quarters at Senga Police Station in Senga and Mtapa police station in Mtapa suburb.

Mr Jambo and the police officers, the court heard, are not related.

On February 18 last year around 8PM, the court heard, the ZRP Gweru District Reaction Group comprising the accused was deployed to Mtapa policing area where they were doing a motorised patrol using a police vehicle that was being driven by Constable Mafirowanda.

At around 9PM during their tour of duty and while patrolling along Matobo Road, the accused persons saw a Toyota Fun cargo vehicle which was approaching them from the opposite direction swerving from one side to the other.

The court heard that Const Mafirowanda allegedly flashed his lights signaling Mr Jambo to stop.

Mr Jambo, the court heard, allegedly reduced speed and later fled.

After the complainant fled, the police vehicle made a U-turn and chased him.

The court heard that Chivore, Musariri, Mukondiwa, Masokwedza, Mada, Mutema, Mapengo and Chengeta caught up with the complainant after about 200 metres when his vehicle got stuck in a muddy ditch and his two tyres were punctured.

When the police officers arrived at the scene, they allegedly handcuffed Mr Jambo, assaulted him with batons while slapping him as two female officers watched.

The court heard Mr Jambo was put in a police car before the driver drove towards Mtapa police station.

As they drove to the police station, the court heard that Mr Jambo told the police officers that he had left US$ 1 000 and his cell phone in the car which was not locked. Const Mafirowanda, the court heard, made a U-turn and went back to Mr Jambo’s car.

The court heard that he searched for his cash and cell phone and did not find them.

The police officers allegedly continued to assault Mr Jambo using baton sticks and open hands resulting in him sustaining a fracture on the right leg and a damaged right ear.

Mr Jambo, the court heard, was allegedly taken to Mtapa Police station where he was placed in open cells. He later tried to make a complaint against the police but without any success.

Mr Jambo allegedly approached the police superiors at the headquarters in Harare before officer in charge Senga was assigned to take the matter leading to the arrest of Chivore, Musariri, Mukondiwa, Masokwedza, Mada, Mutema, Mapengo and Chengeta.

Woman Claims Maintenance For Child Sired After 1 Night Stand

By A Correspondent- A Harare woman dragged her former lover to court claiming $50 000 as maintenance for a child he allegedly sired, after a one night stand, 15 years ago.

The matter came to light when Mercy Muchara approached the Harare Civil Court, accusing Wonder Chizeve of neglecting his child.

However, Wonder argued he only became aware of the child’s existence recently, accusing Muchara of victimising him, after the death of her husband.

He sensationally claimed the child was not his.

“The child is not mine, she never told me about the child during the past 15 years. We were never in a relationship, we only met in a bar and we had a one-night stand,” said Chizeve. He told the court that a child could not have been conceived since they used protection.

We used protection although she later told me that the condom had burst the following morning.

“After some time she got married and we never saw each other until recently when she came back claiming I was her child’s father.

“The child carries another man’s last name and I am told she lost the man in question to Covid-19, hence she is trying to pin me to a child I am not responsible for,” said Chizeve.

In response, Mercy told the court that it was true that it was a one-night stand but she was sure Chizeve was the father of the child.

“Yes, I didn’t say any word for the past 15 years because I wanted to protect my marriage but, since my husband died, I decided to tell the truth so that Chizeve can maintain his child.”

After hearing both parties, magistrate Judith Taruvinga dismissed the case for lack of merit.

Madhuku Attacks ZEC, Exposes Rigging Attempts

By- National Constitutional Assembly President Professor Lovemore Madhuku has complained about exorbitant fees charged by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for parties to register candidates.

ZEC announced that political parties should pay US$500 000.00 for it to register all their MPs.

Madhuku complained on Twitter:

Excessive, undemocratic and unconstitutional. ZEC fails to appreciate that a ” free and fair” election starts from that being a candidate must not be unaffordable to an ordinary politician. The amounts MUST be substantially reduced. US$500K for a party to field ALL candidates?

Zanu PF Chief Whip Plots Coup Against Mnangagwa

By- Zanu PF chief whip, Pupurai Togarepi has been accused of seeking support from opposition MPs to stage a coup against President Emerson Mnangagwa.

Norton MP Temba Mliswa revealed this to ZimEye Friday.

According to Mliswa, Togarepi has chaired a caucus meeting comprising opposition members where they discussed government business.

Mliswa said this had never happened and suspected Togarepi was plotting a coup.

ZEC In Fresh Rigging Attempts

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has refused to release a consolidated voters roll ahead of the delimitation exercise, a social justice movement, Team Pachedu has claimed.

In line with section 21 of the Electoral Act, a copy of the voters roll should be made available to those who request it upon payment of the prescribed fee.
“With delimitation set to start soon, Zec is still unwilling to avail the national consolidated voters roll to anyone who wants it,” Team Pachedu claimed yesterday.
“The Electoral Act is clear on availing the roll to any individual who pays the prescribed fee. It is not all about inspection. Zec must answer.”
The delimitation exercise, which involves creating new electoral boundaries, is expected to start in October and end in December 2022.
The last exercise was based on the Registrar-General’s voters roll.
The upcoming exercise will be conducted using census data.
Team Pachedu added: “The failure to release the full voters roll on a timely basis is a clear violation of the law. We should never get excited about going into an election without certain benchmarks being met.”
NewsDay failed to get a comment from Zec spokesperson Jasper Mangwana and chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana.
Both kept promising to respond to NewsDay questions, but failed to do so by the time of going to print last night.
Opposition and independent election watchdogs said Zec’s refusal to release the consolidated voters roll further dented the credibility of the document after a number of discrepancies were unearthed by data experts in the past few months.
“The failure to publicly avail the voters roll timeously will further diminish public confidence in electoral processes. This will inevitably frustrate the citizens prospects of validating the credibility and accuracy of the delimitation outcome,” Citizens Coalition for Change interim deputy elections secretary Ellen Shiriyedenga said.
Election Resource Centre programmes manager Solomon Bobosibunu said: “It’s not only legal, but morally right. The voters roll is part of the key electoral material that must be availed transparently. That helps with accountability.”
Zimbabwe Election Support Network chairperson Andrew Makoni said: “It’s critical. If there are any anomalies, they can be attended to. So when a party or an individual requests a voters roll they are in terms of the law entitled to have it.
“The public portal can be secured by Zec itself to ensure that no one can tamper with it. It allows people to view the data they want.”
Zimbabwe Election Advocacy Trust executive director Igneous Sadziwa said Zec should be taken to task for refusing to release the voters roll.
“This is a serious breach of the Constitution and, therefore, stern action must be meted against the commission for failing to fulfil its constitutional obligations. Going into an election without important documentation like the voters roll is catastrophic for political parties and the electorate,” Sadziwa said.
“It’s a public document. If the tiff persists, we have no option but to disband the commission for gross misconduct.”
Meanwhile, election watchdogs which observed Kenyan polls have challenged Zec to draw lessons on the diaspora vote, use of technology, voters roll auditing and assisted voter system.
“Zimbabwe needs to implement legislation that allows for Zimbabweans above 18 to vote in their resident countries. Botswana, South Africa and Kenya demonstrated possibilities,” Bobosibunu said.
Makoni lauded Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for embracing technology and engaging an independent auditor KPMG to audit the voters roll to promote transparency.
“We saw technology at play. Voting was largely through the Kenya Integrated Election Management System consisting of biometric voter registration, electronic voter identification system and the electronic transmission of results,” he said.
Mangwana earlier this week said it was the duty of Parliament to make laws on electoral reforms such as the need for the diaspora vote.
“Parliamentarians must be able to make these laws (in time) so that when we run elections we are able to check if some provisions can work or not. In Zimbabwe we don’t have that (voters’ roll auditing). Our voter inspection exercise is far more transparent than the third party audit,” he said.NewsDay.

Wadyajena Hides Loot In SA

By-Border authorities Friday intercepted two state-of-the-art vehicles belonging to Zanu PF Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena en route to South Africa.

The two were intercepted at the Beitbridge Border post.

The underfire Gokwe-Nembudziya constituency lawmaker was granted bail Thursday in another case of fraud and money laundering involving more than US$5 million.

Wadyajena is jointly charged with suspended Cottco Chief Executive Officer Pious Manamike, suspended Cottco marketing manager Maxmore Njanji and Fortunate Molai, also of Cottco, are jointly charged with Pierpont Moncroix Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited and Mayor Logistics (Pvt) Limited.

The two state-of-the-art vehicles were intercepted at the Beitbridge Border post.

Wadyajena and the Cottco bosses are alleged to have converted money meant for the importation of bale ties and bought 25 trucks through Mayor Logistics, where Wadyajena is believed to be a director and allegedly diverted a second order for ties to energy companies.

Computer Club Saves Glen View Kids From Idleness

The Dreylee Computer Club has recently started operating in Glen View, Zimbabwe, and is open to both adults and children. According to the owners, this is primarily a gathering point for young people who may choose the wrong way to pastime, for example, by registering at an online casino or a bookmaker’s office. Especially since many sites like TwinSpinCa publish no deposit bonuses and other online promotions to entice customers to casinos.

Because of the deep crisis in the country for many years, young people cannot go to sports centers to play soccer, tennis, basketball, and other sports. Some people make their own gyms, but not everyone has this opportunity.

As a result, many starts taking alcohol or drugs, eventually not surviving adulthood.

This is what prompted local enthusiasts to create a computer club where, for a small fee, visitors can spend time playing Fifa, Call of Duty, Minecraft, and other popular games.

Tracy Casingisi’s story is quite revealing. The girl is an intern at Highspeed Motors and has a parallel passion for video games. Dreylee became a real salvation for her because she did not know where to spend her free time for a long time. Here you can meet your friends, discuss the latest news and play online games.

It is noteworthy that what this girl likes most of all is to play Fifa against guys, and especially to beat them. She achieves it thanks to her ability to spot a player’s weakness: according to Tracey, almost all the guys don’t use feints and, in general, play with just a few buttons.

Tawanyasha Gondo is also fond of soccer, but because of his age (he is 16), he has not decided on his future profession yet. The boy is studying at the Maltese Academy, after which he plans to become a soccer player, though the selection process there is quite tough.

Gondo also, from time to time, visits the computer club to relax and spend time with his friends.

“I’m a beginner soccer player, so playing Fifa is even good for me – I’m learning the behavior of players on the field, different tactics, and also learning the rules,” says Tawanñasha.

According to the young man, many of the guys who spend time at Dreylee prefer soccer simulation games because they allow for cooperative play and the short match times make it possible to swap with each other and have tournaments.

Overall, the story of this computer club perfectly describes a situation in which, even when the state is powerless, local initiatives can greatly improve the lives of young people in a particular region.

Wadyajena’s Posh Cars Impounded

State Media – Two luxury vehicles belonging to Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena, now facing fraud charges with three Cottco bosses involving US$5 million, were seized and impounded by border authorities at Beitbridge to prevent them being shipped to South Africa.
Security sources said the red 2020 BMW X6 and 2019 Lamborghini, both high-performance sport utility vehicles, were moved from Harare to Beitbridge in a car carrier on Thursday evening.

The impounded cars

According to vehicle clearance documents, the two vehicles were cleared at CID vehicles theft squad in Harare on Wednesday, a routine procedure before vehicles can leave the country.

“The yellow Lamborghini, engine number DHU005304, was being driven by the legislator’s young brother, Professor Tatenda Wadyajena (32) a footballer, and the red BMW X6 Engine number 21470026 was being driven by Kudakwashe Kuora (32), a customs clearing agent,” said a border official on condition of anonymity.

“We got information that the lawmaker was allegedly moving his assets to South Africa ahead of the conclusion of his Cottco alleged fraud trial.

“The two vehicles were transported in a car carrier and were offloaded in Beitbridge before being driven through the Beitbridge border where we impounded them”.

The official said the two vehicles arrived at the border post around 10am with border staff told that they were being taken for routine service in South Africa.

The security agents were suspicious about the timing by the legislator to move the two vehicles soon after getting bail pending trial in the US$5 million Cottco fraud case.

When contacted for comment, Wadyajena promised to call back before going silent. “I will call you back later once I get settled,” said the Gokwe-Nembudziya parliamentarian.

For the better part of the day, the two impounded vehicles were a centre of attraction at the border for many travellers.

Security officials had a hard time controlling those who sought to take pictures of the two luxury cars.

The security agents were suspicious about the timing by the legislator to move the two vehicles soon after getting bail pending trial in the US$5 million Cottco fraud case.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was not readily available for comment last night.

The legislator, who chairs the parliamentary committee on agriculture, is accused of being part of a US$5 million siphoning of funds from Cotton Company of Zimbabwe, in particular of having his transport company receive 25 trucks from an American company that had been allegedly paid to supply bale ties to Cottco but instead had allegedly supplied the trucks that were taken over by what is assumed to be Wadyajena’s company.

The legislator was arrested on Tuesday and charged with fraud and money laundering involving US$5 million together with three Cottco bosses and two companies, including his Mayor Logistics.

The other accomplices are suspended Cottco managing director Pious Manamike (54), suspended Cottco head of marketing Maxmore Njanji (47), Cottco acting procurement manager Fortunate Molai (34).

The accused persons were each granted $200 000 bail by a Harare magistrate and ordered to surrender title deeds of their properties as surety.

Charges are that sometime in 2019, the group allegedly opened a shelf company Pierpont Moncroix Zimbabwe.

Shortly afterwards, a Mauritian company with a similar name, but according to what the court was told had no connection to the Zimbabwean company, was recommended by Molai to supply Cottco with 3,2 million high carbon bale ties valued at US$2,6 million to cater for 2019 ginning season.

Instead of importing the bales, the group switched the payment to an American company and then imported 25 trucks between 2019 and 2020 using the bale tie money and these trucks were later registered under Mayor Logistics.

In November of the same year, Manamike and Njanji are accused of issuing a second purchase order on behalf of Cottco, which was valued at US$1 106 000 for the purchase of the bale ties from the same American Giant Equipment company.

The order was then approved even though Giant Equipment had failed to deliver the first order.

Molai is alleged to have sent an email to the Cottco’s treasurer in November 2021 in which she requested the company to pay a deposit of US$2 500 000 to Energy Park Company for more bale ties.

The money was paid in instalments with some of it being then transferred to Maropafadzo Energy (Pvt) Ltd. Herald

Govt Shamelessly Exports Teachers To Rwanda

State Media  -A total of 208 Zimbabwean teachers, more than 80 percent of those who sat, passed the written recruitment examinations to enable them to work in Rwanda and now face oral interviews next week.
The written online recruitment examinations were conducted on Wednesday and Thursday this week and the successful candidates have been invited for an oral interview from Tuesday next week in the final phase.

Mr Simon Masanga

The online recruitment examinations were conducted in Gweru, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Chinhoyi and Harare and were jointly administered by the Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Social Welfare and Rwanda’s Ministry of Education.

In an interview, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education in Rwanda Mr Charles Karakye said a total of 208 teachers passed the online recruitment interviews.

“We have just concluded the exams and 208 teachers participated for the set of exams. The next step is to do oral interviews. For those who participated, close to 80 percent passed the preliminary exam so we will get the final marks after doing the oral interviews which are scheduled for next week.

“We expected about 324 teachers then 260 attended. The memorandum of understanding we have with the Government of Zimbabwe is that Zimbabwe is open for business so we will be coming back to recruit more teachers,” he said.

Permanent Secretary for Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Mr Simon Masanga said Zimbabwe was happy with how the recruitment process was unfolding.

“For this first phase we flighted an advert which people responded to. We shortlisted candidates and shared the list with Rwanda and they were happy and then came here to do tests which were done electronically. We had teams in Gweru, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Chinhoyi and Harare and the process went on very well.

“We went through all the candidates and the pass rate is very impressive. It is over 80 percent. Those who passed are going for oral interviews starting from Tuesday up to Friday next week. By the end of the month we are expecting the final results and after the results we then organise for the health checks where we will be assisted by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the National Social Security Authority. Thereafter people will go for security vetting then they can leave for Rwanda.”

Mr Masanga said the teachers would have a pre-departure training session in Harare.

On December 23 last year, the Ministry of Education of Rwanda and the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare of Zimbabwe signed a memorandum on exchange of educational personnel and expertise. This was followed by the issue of a Recruitment Manual on May 4 this year to guide the process of recruitment and employment of Zimbabwean teachers in Rwanda.

Following an agreed on plan of activities, Zimbabwe shared with Rwanda a list of 473 recommended candidates for Rwanda to register them in the e-recruitment system.

The next and most important stage was to administer online recruitment examinations which led to the confirmation of five provincial examination centres by Zimbabwe on August 1, 2022. -Herald

Cleric Flees Zanu PF Terror

AFM Zimbabwe pastor Muroyiwa flees political persecution from deadly Zanu PF and police

As police and Zanu PF manhunt Rev. Muroyiwa as they perceive him to be “most dangerous” pastor who can influence christians to vote for CCC party in 2023 elections.

19 August 2022

By Prince Mudamburi

The AFM Zimbabwe youthful pastor and former MDC Alliance Chaplin General Blessing Muroyi flees Zimbabwe due to heavy political persecution by the ruling party Zanu PF and deadly security forces.

Pastor Muroyiwa is with Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party in Zimbabwe after MDC Alliance led by Mwonzora fired him and President-chamisas-message-of-hope-2

Then President Chamisa formed political party CCC. This party is now the biggest opposition party in Zimbabwe. Many CCC members are languishing in prison including Members of Parliament honourable Job Sikhala, honourable Godfrey Sithole.

Pastor Muroyiwa is a political activist, who was appointed Chaplin General of the biggest political party in Zimbabwe by the then President Morgan Richard Tsvangirai in 2008.

In September 2019, Pastor Muroyiwa was arrested by partisan Zimbabwe Republic Police after he gave opening prayer at prayer meeting in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Ruthless Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zanu PF thugs subjected Pastor Muroyiwa to heavy beatings. He suffered physical and emotion problems due to police brutality.

To save his life, pastor Muroyiwa had to flee to Japan. He cannot come back to Zimbabwe because Zanu PF and police have listed him on the wanted list.

Zanu PF has history of killing anyone who voice against it’s corruption and other evil activities. Opposition members such as Tonderai Ndira , Learnmore Jongwe, Itai Dzamara were killed by Zanu PF and deadly security forces.

One of his relatives who spoke on condition of anonymous said, “On 14th August 2022, about 8 Zanu PF supporters came to Pastor Muroyiwa’s house and asked about his whereabouts. We told them that he is in Japan. Then Zanu PF officials told us to inform Pastor Muroyiwa not to come back to Zimbabwe.”

Zanu PF thugs went to Rev. Muroyiwa’s house after they read his Facebook post on 1April 2022, false day. He had posted that he has arrived in Zimbabwe.

Commenting on this new and constant political persecution, Pastor Muroyiwa said, “It’s true that l received reports that Zanu PF and police are looking for me with intention to harm me. This creates fear in me. It’s sad, that l am being haunted for my political views.”

The energetic and youthful AFM pastor Muroyiwa was instrumental in creating MDC Alliance provincial Chaplains across Zimbabwe. This has made him one enemy among Zanu PF supporters. Pastor Muroyiwa is regarded as an agent of change in Zimbabwe according to Mr Munyaradzi Muzenda a political analyst.

Before his departure to Japan, Pastor Muroyiwa was part of the fearless Zimbabwean pastors who actively participated in Christian Vote Campaign. This organisation, had a main objective to advocate for christians in Zimbabwe to register to vote. Again, Zanu PF was against this organisation as it regarded it as pro-opposition.

Since his departure to Japan in October 2019, Christian Vote Campaign has been very ineffective and as a result few christians will votes in 2023 harmonized elections in Zimbabwe.

Rev Manduna the Bulawayo provincial Chaplin Chairperson told this publication that since the departure of Pastor Muroyiwa there is no proper drive on Christian Vote campaign which is a cause of worry as we are approaching the 2023 election without a proper strategy on mobilising the Christian Vote.

Pastor Muroyiwa left the Zimbabwe after being abducted and beaten following his involvement in political activities. Pastor Muroyiwa with other notable pastors such as Douglous Mambure Aleck Matimba and Rev Munemo Tadious after being accused by state agents for trying to block the Zanu PF First lady Auxillia Mnangagwa to attend and address an AFM church gathering in Masvingo, Zimbabwe. This story of trying to block Zanu PF and the wife of Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa was also reported in H-Metro Newspaper that belong to Zanu PF.

According to one police source that is sympathetic to Pastor Muroyiwa said, “If pastor Muroyiwa returns to Zimbabwe, the state will charge him with the allegation of intending to overthrow a Zanu PF constitutionally elected government through mobilising the church community to be involved in political affairs”.

Zanu P F government has a bad record of killing, persecuting and arresting church leaders such as Rev. Evan Mawaire, Rev. Magaya, Priest Pius Ncube, Rev. Talent Chiwenga among others.

South African celebrated artist Makhadzi is reportedly not seeing eye to eye with new newly found Zimbabwean bestie Lorain Guyo, an insider claims.

Motormouth Evidence Chihera, a Zimbabwean socialite in her own capacity claims that the romance between Makhadzi and Loraine Guyo has sadly come to an end after Loraine started dating Makhadzi’s best friend.

The two have been captured clubbing together in Mzansi’s esteemed resorts including South Africa’s premier horse racing event Durban July.

While many had been cracking heads on what happened to the two, Zimbabwe’s Evidence Chihera has divulged alleged inside intel that the two are no longer on talking terms after a private spat which saw them swearing not to ever see each other again.

It is claimed that after Makhadzi brought Loraine under her camp, the Zimbabwean started seeing Makhadzi’s best friend behind her back. The best friend in question is alleged to be Mr Brown.

Madhuku Fumes Over ZEC Extortion

By James Gwati-National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader Professor Lovemore Madhuku has complained about exorbitant fees charged by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for parties to register candidates.

ZEC Refuses To Release Voters Roll

By- A group of social justice movement, Team Pachedu has accused the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) of refusing to release a consolidated voters roll ahead of the delimitation exercise.

Court Denies 11 CCC Activists Bail, Frees Zanu PF Thief

By-The High Court has dismissed the bail application of 11 of the 16 Nyatsime CCC activists detained at Harare Remand Prison.

This comes a day after Zanu PF Gokwe Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena facing US$5 Million corruption charges, was freed.

Wadyajena only spent one night in Remand.

Justice Fatima Maxwell, who was hearing their appeal, said she is not convinced that there was a misdirection by the Magistrates’ Court that denied bail to the 11.
Speaking outside the high court, Adv Wilbert Mandinde who is representing the 11 said:
We have just come out of Court before Justice Maxwell where we dealt with the case involving Precious Jeche and 10 others from Nyatsime who are currently at Harare Remand Prison facing charges of public violence.
We were appearing before the court this morning to make an appeal against the refusal of bail in the magistrate’s court. Our appeal was unfortunately refused. The appeal was refused, with judge maxwell ruling that she was not convinced that there was any misdirection by the magistrate’s court.
This is not good news at all. It’s sad news taking into account the number of days that the accused persons have been in custody now. We will sit down as the legal team. We will speak to the clients and we will take appropriate measures. We will work towards ensuring that our clients eventually exercise and enjoy the right to appeal as enshrined in terms of the constitution.
The 11 activists were in June and have spent about 60 days in prison without being tried. Repeated appeals for freedom have hit brick walls.
The CCC members are accused of destroying houses and shops, and setting on fire the house of the ZANU PF Chairperson for the Nyatsime area on 14 June this year during the funeral of slain fellow activist Moreblessing Ali. The 16 include outspoken CCC MP Job Sikhala who is imprisoned without trial at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

CCC has continued to call for the release of the Nyatsime 16 accusing the government of political persecution and using the law to fight the opposition ahead of the 2023 elections.

Adolescents And Common Diseases

Key facts

Over 1.5 million adolescents and young adults aged 10–24 years died in 2020, nearly 5000 every day.

Young adolescents aged 10–14 years have the lowest risk of death of all age groups.
Injuries (including road traffic injuries and drowning), violence, self-harm and maternal conditions are the leading causes of death among adolescents and young adults
Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated.
Early onset of substance use is associated with higher risks of developing dependence and other problems during adult life, and people of younger ages are disproportionately affected by substance use compared with people of older ages.
Globally, there were 41 births per 1000 to girls aged 15–19 years in 2020.

Overview
Survival chances for adolescents and young adults vary greatly across the world. In 2020, the probability of dying among those aged 10–24 years was highest in sub-Saharan Africa, Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand), northern Africa and southern Asia (1). The average global probability of a 10-year-old dying before age 24 was 6 times higher in sub-Saharan Africa than in North America and Europe.

Main health issues
Injuries
Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death and disability among adolescents. In 2019, nearly 100 000 adolescents (10–19 years) died as a result of road traffic accidents (2). Many of those who died were vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists or users of motorized two-wheelers. In many countries, road safety laws need to be made more comprehensive, and enforcement of such laws needs to be strengthened. Furthermore, young drivers need advice on driving safely, while laws that prohibit driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs need to be strictly enforced among all age groups. Blood alcohol levels should be set lower for young drivers than for adults. Graduated licences for novice drivers with zero-tolerance for drink-driving are recommended.

Drowning is also among the top causes of death among adolescents; more than 40 000 adolescents, over three quarters of them boys, are estimated to have drowned in 2019. Teaching children and adolescents to swim is an essential intervention to prevent these deaths.

Violence
Interpersonal violence is among the leading causes of death in adolescents and young people globally. Its prominence varies substantially by world region. It causes nearly a third of all adolescent male deaths in low- and middle-income countries in the WHO Region of the Americas. According to the global school-based student health survey 42% of adolescent boys and 37% of adolescent girls were exposed to bullying. Sexual violence also affects a significant proportion of youth: 1 in 8 young people report sexual abuse.

Violence during adolescence also increases the risks of injury, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, mental health problems, poor school performance and dropout, early pregnancy, reproductive health problems, and communicable and noncommunicable diseases.

Effective prevention and response strategies include promoting parenting and early childhood development; addressing school-based bullying prevention, programmes that develop life and social skills, and community approaches to reduce access to alcohol and firearms. Effective and empathetic care for adolescent survivors of violence, including ongoing support, can help with the physical and psychological consequences.

Mental health
Depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents, and suicide is the second leading cause of death in people aged 15–19 years (2). Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10–19 years. Half of all mental health disorders in adulthood start by age 14, but most cases are undetected and untreated.

Many factors have an impact on the well-being and mental health of adolescents. Violence, poverty, stigma, exclusion, and living in humanitarian and fragile settings can increase the risk of developing mental health problems. The consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults.

Building socioemotional skills in children and adolescents and providing them with psychosocial support in schools and other community settings can help promote good mental health. Programmes to help strengthen the ties between adolescents and their families and improve quality of home environments are also important. If problems arise, they should be detected and timely managed by competent and caring health workers.

Adolescent mental health fact sheet

Alcohol and drug use
Drinking alcohol among adolescents is a major concern in many countries. It can reduce self-control and increase risky behaviours, such as unsafe sex or dangerous driving. It is an underlying cause of injuries (including those due to road traffic accidents), violence and premature deaths. It can also lead to health problems in later life and affects life expectancy. Worldwide, more than a quarter of all people aged 15–19 years are current drinkers, amounting to 155 million adolescents. Prevalence of heavy episodic drinking among adolescents aged 15–19 years was 13.6% in 2016, with males most at risk.

Cannabis is the most widely used psychoactive drug among young people with about 4.7% of people aged 15–16 years using it at least once in 2018. Alcohol and drug use in children and adolescents is associated with neurocognitive alterations which can lead to behavioural, emotional, social and academic problems in later life.

Prevention of alcohol and drug use are important areas of public health actions and may include population-based strategies and interventions, activities in school, community, family and on the individual level. Setting a minimum age for buying and consuming alcohol and eliminate marketing and advertising to minors are among the key strategies for reducing drinking among adolescents.

Tobacco use
The vast majority of people using tobacco today began doing so when they were adolescents. Prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors (under 18 years) and increasing the price of tobacco products through higher taxes, banning tobacco advertising and ensuring smoke-free environments are crucial. Globally, at least 1 in 10 adolescents aged 13–15 years uses tobacco, although there are areas where this figure is much higher.

HIV/AIDS
An estimated 1.7 million adolescents (age 10–19 years) were living with HIV in 2019 with around 90% in the WHO African Region (3). While there have been substantial declines in new infections amongst adolescents from a peak in 1994, adolescents still account for about 10% of new adult HIV infections, with three-quarters amongst adolescent girls (4). Additionally, while new infections may have fallen in many of the most severely affected countries, recent testing coverage remains low suggesting that many adolescents and young people living with HIV may not know their status (5).

Adolescents living with HIV have worse access to antiretroviral treatment, adherence to treatment, retention in care and viral suppression. A key factor contributing to these is limited provision of adolescent-friendly services including psychosocial interventions and support.

Adolescents and young people need to know how to protect themselves from HIV infection and must also have the means to do so. This includes being able to obtain access HIV prevention interventions including voluntary medical male circumcision, condoms and pre-exposure prophylaxis, better access to HIV testing and counselling, and stronger links to HIV treatment services for those who test HIV positive.

Other infectious diseases
Thanks to improved childhood vaccination, adolescent deaths and disability from measles have fallen markedly. For example, adolescent mortality from measles fell by 90% in the African Region between 2000 and 2012.

Diarrhoea and lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia) are estimated to be among the top 10 causes of death for adolescents 10–14 years. These two diseases, along with meningitis, are all among the top 5 causes of adolescent death in African low- and middle-income countries.

Infectious diseases like with human papilloma virus that normally occurs after onset of sexual activity can lead to both short-term disease (genital warts) during adolescence but more importantly also leads to cervical and other cancers several decades later. Early adolescence (9–14 years) is the optimal time for vaccination against HPV infection and it is estimated that if 90% of girls globally get the HPV vaccine more than 40 million lives could be saved over the next century. However, it is estimated that in 2019 only 15% of girls globally received the vaccine.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer fact sheet

Early pregnancy and childbirth
Approximately 12 million girls aged 15–19 years and at least 777 000 girls under 15 years give birth each year in developing regions. Complications from pregnancy and childbirth are among the leading causes of death for girls aged 15–19 years globally.

The UN Population Division puts the global adolescent birth rate in 2020 at 41 births per 1000 girls this age, and country rates range from 1 to over 200 births per 1000 girls (6). This indicates a marked decrease since 1990. This decrease is reflected in a similar decline in maternal mortality rates among girls aged 15–19 years.

One of the specific targets of the health Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) is that by 2030, the world should ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.

Adolescents need and have a right to comprehensive sexuality education, a curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about the cognitive, emotional, physical and social aspects of sexuality. Better access to contraceptive information and services can reduce the number of girls becoming pregnant and giving birth at too young an age. Laws that are enforced that specify a minimum age of marriage at 18 can help.

Girls who do become pregnant need access to quality antenatal care. Where permitted by law, adolescents who opt to terminate their pregnancies should have access to safe abortion.

Zanu PF Terrorises AFM Pastor

Young Tech-Entrepreneur Sets Up Life-Changing Platform For African Youths

By A Correspondent| Shingirayi Kondongwe is a tech-entrepreneur, a policy analyst and innovator who founded a tech platform, Youth Opportunities Hub, which is based in Zimbabwe, South Africa and other African countries.

The platform publicizes various youth opportunities such as scholarships, jobs, fellowships and internships, allowing African youths to access various global opportunities.

“When I came back to Zimbabwe from the diaspora around March 2020, it just took me two months of my stay in the country to realize that not much was being done when it comes to the dissemination of information regarding youth opportunities. I realized that the problem we have today is getting information to young people, and that’s how Youth Opportunities Hub was born” Kondongwe says.

Shingirayi is also a Tony Elumelu Foundation Competition winner (class of 2019) among other young tech entrepreneurs honoured in Africa. He is also an African Union Scholar (class of 2020), United Nations Graduate Study Fellow, and a former key member of the United Nations Development Fund, Regional Bureau for Africa.

He says one of the motivating factors behind the Youth Opportunities Hub platform is that he himself is a beneficiary of various youth opportunities, the most notable one being a scholarship from the African Union Commission which earned him his Master of Science in Energy degree and as such he wanted to unlock opportunities for talented young people who may be stuck and hopeless in their quest to advance their careers as well as honing their skills.

The impact of Youth Opportunities Hub

Over the past two years, Youth Opportunities Hub has reached over 20 million views (visits) through its platform www.youthopportunitieshub.com , creating opportunities for them to utilize their skills in various fields.

At present, the Youth Opportunities Hub platform currently attracts three million website views on a monthly basis from 100 countries across the globe and that indeed is a game-changer in transforming lives of ordinary youths in search of opportunities.

They have done business with many prestigious institutions across the continent. YOH is also forging partnerships with various Youth Organisations around the continent and the notable partnership that they are working on at the moment is with SAYouth, the largest Youth organisation in South Africa. SAYouth is responsible for connecting employers to the youths that are in dire need of employment.

“In conjunction with SAYouth, we are developing a system of tracking progress and impact, for instance, which youths benefited from a training program or employment and how? This data will help us to understand the impact of our programs in the context of developing youth skills,” Kondongwe stressed.

YOH’s advocacy for acceleration of youth skills spreads beyond the confinements of the Africa region as it is also partnering with global institutions.

“Recently, we partnered with International University of Applied Sciences (IU) from Germany. IU is currently offering 80% scholarships to prospective students for all Bachelor, Master, or MBA degrees. The idea is to make education accessible to everyone who would like to grow on personal and professional level. The nature of our partnership is to promote this offer through our website,” he said.

Strict Conditions For Aspiring CCC MPs

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has reportedly set strict conditions for members aspiring for council and parliamentary seats in next year’s harmonised elections.

The newly-formed opposition movement will not hold primary polls to choose candidates, but instead will put thresholds for an aspirant to achieve in mobilising voters in their respective ward or constituency inorder to qualify to stand as CCC candidate.

The conditions, according to CCC deputy spokesperson Ostallos Siziba, were meant to bolster the party’s voter registration drive ahead of the crunch plebiscites.

They are part of its citizens’ candidate selection process that is yet to commence.

“We will be announcing conditions that the party has set for those interested in running for office, be it at council or parliamentary level,” said Siziba.

“Part of our efforts to mobilise voters will include a specific number of new registered voters that any sitting Member of Parliament (MP), or councillor should gunner in order to be redeployed by citizens, back into public office.”

CCC is targeting six million votes in the 2023 polls.

The move would add onto its much-vaunted rural mobilisation strategy which is aimed at penetrating Zanu-PF strongholds, Siziba said.

The party’s old guard was looking at bouncing back through the impending process, while new entrants from the youth assembly also expected to put names out for selection.

Nelson Chamisa has already been confirmed CCC presidential candidate in the do-or-die elections.

Dinha In Sex Scandal…Faces Rape Charges.

By A Correspondent| In a new dramatic twist of events, National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) board chairperson Advocate Martin Dinha has been embroiled in a sex scandal involving a Mvurwi disgruntled family vowing to renew the pursuit for justice.

Dinha made headlines in 2019 after being dragged in a sex scandal involving four student girls (names supplied) from Mvurwi High School whom he invited to a sex escapade at a local hotel in Bindura for a week.

The four pupils were later expelled from the school, however, in a new bid to seek closure to the case, a source who spoke to this publication revealed that one of the families has since renewed efforts to seek justice against the former governor for Mashonaland Central province.

“Yes I can confirm with surety that one of the families whose child was manipulated into the sex escapade together with fellow three students are still haunted by the events, and to that effect, they are intending to renew the case which was allegedly swept under the carpet,” revealed the source.

“A lot of events are unfolding which might see Advocate Dinha facing numerous charges among them rape, remember the kids are said to have been held at a Bindura hotel for almost four days without their parents knowing their whereabouts.”

According to information obtained by this publication, one of the girls was forced to seek relocation and transferred to Regina Mundi where she had to finish her studies whilst the other one was transferred to St Phillip’s Mangwenya.

It is alleged that the bid to seek closure was interfered with on political grounds.

“Remember Dinha was the MP in Mvurwi from which he wielded political power and an associate with powerful families in Mvurwi, some of the families are actually behind the covering of this sexual scandal as their children were also involved.

“Adding on to that the other victim’s mother is a widow who got defeated by political power to seek recourse and was only rescued by other relatives and chose silence due to the sensitivity of the nature,” added another source close to the events.

Though provincial police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe was not readily available for comment, an internal source revealed that possible investigations might be renewed as some of the families are still haunted by the events.

“I can confirm that probabilities are high that the case might be under the spotlight again, though it is yet sensitive to comment on,” said a Mazowe police intelligence officer who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“A lot of factors are at play that might also involve the cover-up by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, remember the school authorities tried to follow up the case but it died a natural death as Dinha was still a powerful political figure in the area,” said the officer.

The former Mashonaland Central governor was last month sucked in the love triangle involving the late Ximex dealer Boss Pango who later killed her girlfriend Samantha Dzapata over infidelity.

Rumours were rife that the late dealer’s girlfriend was two-timing him with Dinha and was behind the shooting incident of the controversial politician.

Dinha recently made headlines after an audit report on the NRZ revealed his luxurious lifestyle and thrift spending at local hotels.

Widows Of Late NRZ Workers Earning RTGS$1200 Pension

OVER 70 widows of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ)’s late workers are living in abject poverty in Bulawayo earning a paltry $1 200 per month, an equivalent of US$2.

After enquiring with the NRZ about the low pension stipends, the widows told Southern Eye that they were promised that they would begin getting US$18 per month with effect from this month.

The widows, most of whom are over 65 years of age, feel the parastatal has been ignoring their plight despite that their husbands worked for the parastatal for several years.

They said they were neglected to the extent that they were living in abject poverty at a time when the country’s cost of living has sky-rocketed, with goods and services being charged in United States dollars.

“NRZ is taking us for granted, what can one buy with $1 200? It only buys one loaf of bread. Some of us are on medication, and we end up defaulting because we cannot afford it. We cannot take medication on empty stomachs. We are unable to pay council rates, pay for electricity or buy food. We live in abject poverty,” one of the affected widows who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

Another widow, Margaret Ngwenya said as a result of the measly pension stipends, she was struggling to pay council bills.

“We plead with the NRZ to increase our pensions because we are struggling,” Ngwenya said.

Dorcas Sibanda, another widow, said some of the widows had died due to failure to pay for medical services and starvation.

“We have other members among the NRZ widows who have passed on due to starvation. How can such a big company give widows low pensions like that? They are old people who cannot fend for themselves. Some of these widows are diabetic, or suffer from hypertension and arthritis, among other diseases,” said Sibanda.

“Worse still even if old people do not pay fees at public health institutions, there are no drugs there. Widows are forced to buy their medication at pharmacies whose prices are very exorbitant. They are struggling to get food.”

Sibanda said non-governmental organisations offered projects like poultry rearing and farming for struggling widows in Bulawayo, but only physically strong widows could take part in the projects.

“Water-rationing schedules in Bulawayo have affected farming projects. We appeal to NRZ to review the pensions for the widows. What can one do with US$2? We also appeal to the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa to assist us because we are suffering,” Sibanda added.

Most widows are said to be at risk of losing their houses after accumulating huge council debts, apart from debts owed to other service providers.

The NRZ pension fund asked Southern Eye to send its questions in writing, but by the time of going to print the fund had not responded to the questions.

NRZ acting spokesperson Martin Sibanda said he could not comment because he was in a meeting. He also demanded questions in writing.

Human Rights Lawyers Complain Over Ill-Treatment Of Sikhala, Sithole

Human rights lawyers have lodged a complaint with Zimbabwe Prisons and
Correctional Services (ZPCS) over the ill-treatment of two opposition legislators Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole, who have spent more than two months in detention.

In a letter written on Tuesday 16 August 2022 and addressed to the Officer in Charge of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) Executive Director Roselyn Hanzi andcZLHR Programmes Lawyer Idirashe Chikomba protested that Hon. Sikhala and Sithole were being treated as hard-core and dangerous criminals by some ZPCS officers while in prison.

Hanzi and Chikomba said Sikhala and Sithole were constantly being shackled in leg irons while detained at the “D” Class section at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, which is supposed to house some Dangerous inmates, who would have been convicted of serious crimes such as murder and yet the two legislators have not been convicted of committing any crime.

The two legislators, Hanzi and Chikomba said, were being shackled in leg irons each time when they have to leave their holding cells to meet with visitors including when they are meeting and consulting with their lawyers and have sustained bruises on their legs owing to the constant shackling.

Hanzi and Chikomba charged that the act of putting leg irons on Sikhala and Sithole is tantamount to inhumane and degrading
punishment or treatment that is proscribed in the Constitution, which
in Section 53 clearly states that no-one must be subjected to inhuman, cruel and degrading treatment.

In the case of Sikhala, Hanzi and Chikomba said although the parliamentarian has a right to receive certain visitors as specifiedcin Section 50 of the Constitution, which articulates the rights of arrested and detained persons, the Zengeza West constituency legislator’s rights were not being respected as some of his visitors were being turned away when they bring him food.

Hanzi and Chikomba said ZPCS officers were advising visitors that Sikhala has too much food stocks to which the human rights lawyers said it is baffling as the prison officers were now multi-tasking ascdieticians and/or nutritionists who can determine the dietary requirements, more particularly the calorie intake that one is required to observe.

The lawyers sought clarity from ZPCS on whether the prison officers manning the visitors’ gate have relevant scientific training to determine when one has too much food or not.

Hanzi and Chikomba asked ZPCS to take corrective measures by detaining their clients in conditions that do not amount to inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment including not being detained in overcrowded conditions and accord Hon. Sikhala and Hon. Sithole all their constitutional rights and freedoms as guaranteed in the Constitution.

Prison Officials Ordered To Stop Harrasing Job Sikhala

HIGH Court Judge Justice Emilia Muchawa has reaffirmed that consultations between detained prisoners and their lawyers should remain confidential in a momentous development which should put a stop to the pervasive and intrusive practice by Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).

ZPCS through Superintendent Moses Gukurume, the Officer-In-Charge of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, had on 4 July 2022 denied human rights lawyer Roselyn Hanzi, who is the Executive Director of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), access to her two clients namely Zengeza West constituency legislator Hon. Job Sikhala and Chitungwiza North constituency legislator Hon. Godfrey Sithole.

Irked by this, Hanzi engaged her lawyers Obey Shava and Paidamoyo Saurombe of ZLHR, who on 5 July 2022, filed an urgent chamber application at the High Court arguing that prisoners have a right to consult in private with their lawyers as provided in Section 50(5)(b) of the Constitution and asked the High Court to declare the refusal by ZPCS to allow her access to her clients as unlawful.

The human rights lawyer asked the High Court to order ZPCS to allow her to consult in private with her clients and to compel authorities at the correctional facility to act in line with provisions of the Constitution which provides that detained persons have a right to consult in the sight but not the hearing of a prison officer as provided in the Constitution and in prison regulations.

Hanzi cited ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu, Justice Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Hon. Ziyambi Ziyambi and Gukurume, the Officer in Charge of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison as respondents in the application.

On Friday 12 August 2022, Justice Muchawa ordered Chihobvu, Ziyambi and Gukurume to allow Hanzi “to consult in private” with Hon. Sikhala and Hon. Sithole, who have been incarcerated at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison for more than two months.

The two legislators were arrested on 14 June 2022 by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers, who charged them with incitement to commit public violence as defined in section 187(1)(a) as read with section 36(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Prosecutors argued that Hon. Sikhala recorded and circulated a video urging people to commit acts of public violence in seeking revenge for the death of Moreblessing Ali, who was murdered in Nyatsime area in Beatrice.

Prosecutors alleged that Hon. Sithole and Hon. Sikhala supplied some vehicles which allegedly ferried some opposition Citizens Coalition for Change party supporters from Chitungwiza and Epworth to Nyatsime, where they attacked some ruling ZANU PF party supporters and also destroyed property at shops and beerhalls and looted groceries and electrical gadgets including burning a one-roomed house belonging to George Murambatsvina, the ZANU PF party Councillor for Nyatsime.

On 12 July 2022, Hon. Sikhala was also charged with obstructing or defeating the course of justice as defined in Section 184(1)(e) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Prosecutors allege that at an unknown date but during the period extending from 25 May 2022 and 16 June 2022 in Chitungwiza and Nyatsime, the Zengeza West legislator recorded and circulated a video clip wherein he intended to mislead police officers probing the murder of Moreblessing Ali. The law enforcement agents claimed that Hon. Sikhala blamed some ruling ZANU PF party supporters for kidnapping and murdering Ali.

In this matter, Hon. Sikhala, is represented by Jeremiah Bamu of ZLHR and Beatrice Mtetwa of Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.

Madam Boss Pilfers Donor Funds, Cast Cries Foul

By ACorrespondent| Popular Comedienne Madam Boss is reportedly failing to pay the cast of her upcoming inspired film ‘Becoming Madam Boss’ and this is despite that she received a windfall from sponsors.

The film features a star-studded cast that include Caroline Mashingaidze, Nash Mphepo, Gonyeti, Melgin Tafirenyika, Conrad Mwanawashe, Eddie Sandifolo, Munya Chidzonga, Melgin Tafirenyika and Zolile Makeleni among many others.

It is said despite honouring to pay these stars,Madam Boss, real name Tyra Chikosho is now playing hide and seek,a close source to the development revealed.

“Its now apparent that Madam Boss tricked us because from what we gathered she got sponshorship amounting to over $US100 000 but decided to convert it to her own use.

“I think as someone who is known to be a spendthrift it is not assuming that part of the proceeds could be behind her numerous trips she has been doing of late to the West ,”said an irate star who featured on the film.

The production house behind the film is Nelned Pictures and anger is simmering that the production house could have been given its share hence how it trying to pacify the cast.

According to a communique authored by one Sydney Taivaishe who is believed to be the project manager ,the delays were a result of some sponsors failing to honour their pledges.

“On behalf of Nelned Pictures the production company behind the Becoming Madam Boss film project, I’m writing to you to apologize officially for the late payments for your role in Becoming Madam Boss Movie,” read part of the letter. It further reads ”

“This is due to the delay in disbursements of funding from our key sponsors and partners of the project. We have been forced to halt production because of the above circumstances and we will only resume once the funds become available.

Becoming Madam Boss Movie is a Sponsor/Partnership based project and therefore our financial commitment heavily relies on third party funding.

“We are working to the best of our ability to speed up the process of dealing with this, and everyone shall receive their payments as soon as we receive the funding from our sponsors and partners.

We’re hoping the money situation can be settled within the month of July. I will keep everyone up to date on any developments.
Many thanks for your understanding.”

While Madam Boss is said to have assured the cast that they will be paid for their services via Whatsapp, another cast member blasted the comedienne for taking them for fools.

“Tyra tried to calm us by saying she values the roles we played in the film but we don’t ‘eat’ such fake assurances.

“What we need is what she promised and if she continues with her flimsy excuses we are going to take the legal route,” fumed the actor who requested anonymity.

The local film industry is under-funded and some individuals have been taking advantage and abusing actors even when they get hefty sponsorship money to bankroll productions.

What must be done to ZRP cops who killed Alick Macheso’s bodyguard?

CID officers Wednesday killed a Chitungwiza body builder (who is singer Alick Macheso’s bodyguard) whom they first accused of robbery and have now shifted to say they did it because he was carrying a machete.

Tawanda Zvinowanda (29) was on Wednesday killed by detectives after they stormed his family home and place of residence and started accusing him of carrying a machete.

‘Three detectives arrived at his home around 10 am and took him to Makoni Police Station yesterday.

This morning the family woke up to discover that he has died.

When they arrived at his home, they introduced themselves by firing one shot into the and moving into the house to assault him.
They assaulted him in front of his wife and minor 1 year old before they chased them away.

They beat him till he became unconscious and shoved him into the boot of their car, a silver CRV and drove off, a source tells ZimEye.

Police sources say the late father of one was tortured to death at a cemetery.

“Where would he have purchased the machete, and why kill him at the cemetery in L?,” asked one of his siblings.

A voice note in ZimEye’s possession, has a male voice confirming saying, ” it’s true he was assaulted by detectives yesterday at the cemetery which is in the industry area in L, that’s where they bashed him up.

But some officers are saying they don’t know his offences; but it’s being said when he was arrested, there was an altercation, they are saying he had a machete.

The lad had a heavily built body, I even know him; so maybe the most plausible explanation is he had threatened them saying once I am out of custody I am coming after you, one by one.

So I think that’s why they assaulted him, because they are now saying he was carrying a machete; that’s what people from our offices are saying, so people are there at the police station at Makoni, that’s what I heard.

Zvinowanda is also a former bodyguard for the Waterfalls based preacher, Walter Magaya.

In leaked audio circulating on social media, Mwonzora is heard telling his top executive meeting that he was planning ‘something’ with Mnangagwa.

The MDC-T leader said in the audio that his executive should prepare for a possible referendum that could lead to a national unity government.

He also told the same meeting that his party would hold a congress on dates yet to be announced.

Nelson Chamisa Continuing Military Career, He’d Be…?

By Farai D Hove | Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is hiding a secret that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa is an experienced soldier?

The CCC leader was scoffed at by one of his tormentors Prof Jonathan Moyo, who suggests that he humiliated himself by making comments that he is a soldier, who is well known to the military coup Gen Constantino Chiwenga. Said Moyo: “No comment!,” writing on Twitter.

And why on earth did Chamisa say these things, and did he lie? The truth is the CCC leader was indeed raised at Manyame Airbase, before later closing to enroll at the Harare Polytechnic. Below is the live feed roll

Chamisa says: Chiwenga knows that I grew up at Manyame Airbase… in the Airmen’s Mess, in the Sergent’s Mess.

I had gone for training, and was going to become an airman..

Parliament Grills Ministers Over Abuse of Marry Chiwenga

By A Correspondent | The Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa was on Wednesday cornered over the plight of the Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex wife, Marry Mubaiwa, who the state has continued wheeling to trial hearings.

This was during debates when the government was asked to comment on why Marry Chiwenga continues to be abused. Below is the discussion (transcript).

HON. MATAMBO: Thank you Madam Speaker. My question is directed to the Leader of the House. What is the policy regarding the rights of patients who are non-ambulant and bedridden? We have seen patients being dragged to the courts to answer criminal charges against them?

THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION, PUBLICITY AND
BROADCASTING SERVICES (HON. SEN. MUTSVANGWA):  Thank you Mr. Speaker Sir. I want to thank Hon. Matambo for the question, I hope I got the question right. The policy of Government when it comes to patents’ rights whether they are bedridden or not is to make sure that all patients are taken good care of, thank you.

HON. MATAMBO: Thank you Hon. Speaker Sir, my question
is regarding the rights to patients. We still see patients who are still being dragged to answer criminal charges against them when they are in a bad state. Legally, a person whose is critical, certified sick is not allowed to consent and the same are being brought to the courts. What is Government policy regarding the rights of patients, for example the case of Mary Mubayiwa-Chiwenga?

HON. SEN. MUTSVANGWA: Thank you very much Mr.
Speaker Sir and I want to thank Hon. Matambo for the question. As I said earlier, the policy of Government is to make sure that the rights of patients are respected at all costs. If he has got a specific question, that can be directed to the Ministry of Health.

HON. CHIKWINYA: Thank you Mr. Speaker, I think the
question that we want to understand as Members of Parliament is that when a person is critically ill, is it the court that comes to the person who is bedridden or it is the bedridden person who is supposed to be wheeled into court? Thank you.
The Hon. Minister having approached the Chair

THE TEMPORARY SPEAKER (HON. M. KHUMALO):
Can the Hon. Member repeat the question.

HON. CHIKWINYA: I think the Minister was not listening. I was giving a supplementary question. We would like to know the rights of the sick people. We know that a person might have committed a crime but if the person is seriously sick, what will happen? Does the court come to the sick or the sick goes to the court? For instance, the case of Marry Mubaiwa – was the court not supposed to come to Mary Mubaiwa and do the case instead of Marry Mubaiwa going to the court?

HON. SEN. MUTSVANGWA: Thank you.

Mr. Speaker. I would like to thank the supplementary question from Hon. Chikwinya. I would like to say the rights of the sick are of importance to us. We do not care wherever you are in hospital or at home but he is asking a specific question which he already knows the answer and that is why I would kindly ask him to put it in writing so that you will be answered well. Thank you.

Australian Police Force Goes After Mnangagwa?

By A Correspondent | As it was revealed that Emmerson Mnangagwa can be summoned by Australian courts, last night, NGO Director Comfort Dondo said people who minimize the subject of sexual abuse can only be perpetrators.

The coup leader has been accused of raping the Australia based 34y old Susan Mutami when she was 15 years old in Zimbabwe and a case was recently opened with Queensland Police against Mnangagwa.

Addressing a 5,000 strong listenership, Dondo said, “If I see anybody minimise these things, I say you must be a perpetrator…sexual abuse breeds pain… but this also happens in men…”

She said this just as legal experts said Mnangagwa can be summoned.

Speaking during the same spaces discussion, Advocate Kennedy Masiye, said Australia has extra territorial jurisdiction over the Susan Mutami case since it was opened in that country.

Said Masiye:

Justice Mayor Wadyajena and his accomplices were today granted $200 000 bail.

David Matsanga’s Comment On IEBC Election Results | FULL TEXT

CHEBUKATI GREW A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE WITHIN THE IEBC, MUST BE INVESTIGATED AND CHARGED FOR CRIMES BORDERING NATIONAL SECURITY

1. I fully support the 4 commissioner of the IEBC. I have followed all the IEBC. BAD deeds of Wafula Chebukati before they joined and after the joined the I EBC. I told Kenyans that if I were a Kenyan, I would not allow Wafula Chebukati EVER to handle any ELECTION anywhere on EARTH. The detectable and dramatic disintegration of the IEBC and bungling of the just concluded elec tion by the Wafula Chebukati of IEBC was a conjectured calamity in waiting.

David Matsanga

2. By hook or crook, Wafula Chebukati and his racket had a vile odyssey and expedition to hand over victory to Dr William Ruto. Irregularities were bound to happen, for man who brings home ant-infested faggots should not complain if he is visited by lizards.

3. Let me state here that for the umpteenth time, I raised concerns about IEBC under Wafula Chebukati, but all my pleas fell on deaf ears, nobody could take heed.

4. I will take credit for having raised concerns about IEBC and Chebukati, for I have been vindicated. Just like Chinua Achebe once imped, “The lizard that jumped from the high iroko tree to the ground said he would praise himself if no one else did so.

5. The ill-fated IEBC is a mangled wreck now, with 4 Commissioners against Chebukati and the other 2, I can without any shadow of doubt reiterate that an inevitable constitutional crisis is looming in Kenya. The relationship between Chebukati and the other 4 is broken down.

6. The reckless and foolhardy decision by the IEBC Chairman to run the Commission in a clandestine state of secrecy has borne the bitter fruits, for its tantamount if not manifest that this election has found its way through the windows of the Supreme Court.
7. All said and done, at the end of the day, the most interrogating questions will be: Does Kenya have the resources to conduct a rerun? Will the Azimio brigade oblige to have the same taunted and tainted Commission to conduct the repeat election?

8. I further pose this question that will the people who have lost confidence in the IEBC wake up at the crack of dawn to go queue on the voting lines again? Your guess is as good as mine, the conduct of IEBC in this and past elections leaves a lot to be desired for. If it where Japan Wafula should have got a SWORD

9. When I came to Kenya 17 years ago on the invitation of late President Kibaki to help in the ICC cases, the country was precariously dancing at the edge of a precipice. I bold told a stand to support my African brothers.

10. It must be said that the strong and glaring ethnic fault lines had sparked tension across the country and a civil conflict was a ticking time bomb, all these precipitated by bungled elections of 2007. The situation was almost the same where nobody knew the winner including the Chairman of ECK.
11. Unfortunately, it seems Kenya has over the time backpedaled all the progress achieved in fixing the rag-tag electoral and legal system, the decay that ate up the defunct ECK seems to have caught up with IEBC along the way. What a sad state of affairs!

12. Even more bamboozling is the meddling in the electoral process by foreign players and some of Kenya’s neighbors who have been aiding the criminalities at IEBC. A criminal enterprise has grown around the Chairman of IEBC Wafula Chebukati.

13. I must be candid on this matter and say the truth, by which I shall be set free. Starting from Aden Duale, his brother Abbas Duale, Chirchir, a foreign retired General based in a brig outing state things have become terrible.

14. The scheme is wider than perceived and portrays a show of blatant mafia operations. From the imaginary ballot printing in Greece, the purchase of USA BVR kits, the purchase of satellite phones, the transfer of data using Chebukati ‘s son Company which was instrumental in concealing the APIs of the BVR kits, the open perversion of the entire systems has gone on unabated.
15. As an African and an Anglican Church goes let me be honest and say that I choose to stand with truth than to DIE begging mercy from Ruto. As Plato once said, “We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light”. I am not afraid of light or darkness I only fear GOD.

16. I am not a prophet of doom, but I can tell the world that unless things change and SANITY is restored in IEBC thing could go badly in Kenya. I want to assure you as sure as the sun will rise from the East tomorrow and set in the West, Kenya could be headed to a CONSTITUTIONAL crisis.

17. I want to tell the truth. I am Gentile preaching to the Jews. Whether by its people or powers that be, whatever Wafula Chebukati did touched on national security risk. It has now divided the country sharply in the middle. The country is paralyzed. The silent majority may not talk about it but that’s the truth of the matter.

18. It’s now becoming clear that elections in Africa have degenerated into a decoy and an empty object of strife and conflict. At this point, I have nothing but to hope Kenya redeems itself through the Supreme Court, otherwise the country could be headed to constitutional crisis.

19. To put it in a nutshell, I will stand by President
Uhuru Kenyatta up to the end. I will narrate the and quote Julius Caesar famous words, that his death was not important but the destruction of the Roman Empire was what worried him more at that time.

20. I want to say that I came, entered the stage, played my best part and I won on IEBC. I will continue documenting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Legacy up to the end. Just like Julius Caesar, I came, I saw, I conquered.

21. WAFULA CHEBUKATI AND HIS CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE IN IEBC MUST BE INVESTIGATED TO SAVE FUTURE INTEGRITY OF ELECTIONS IN KENYA AND AFRICA.

23. VENI, VIDI, VICI.

Thanks

Bill Antonio Bounces Back

Bill Antonio will be available for selection for Dynamos’ Chibuku Super Cup first round clash against Whawha on Sunday.

The teenager missed the domestic action for over a month as he attended trials at Belgian top-flight club KV Mechelen.

He returned home last week after completing the assessment.

The club hasn’t revealed their position on Antonio but reports have suggested that the player passed the trial.

Coach Tonderai Ndiraya expressed excitement that the youth winger is now available to help his team.

The gaffer told the Herald: “Everyone knows what Bill Antonio can do when he is available.

“We have been missing him a lot and I am very happy he is back to help the team,” said Ndiraya.

“He is a very good player and I am also sure he is keen to play a role in the Chibuku Super Cup tie against Whawha.

“Whawha are not an easy opponent at all as they showed us in the league at Ascot recently.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

SUSAN MUTAMI: Minimizers Are Perpetrators- Comfort Dondo

Woman Sleeps With Two Boyfriends Same Time

A woman from Empumalanga suburb in Hwange, Matabeleland North province, has been reported for cohabiting with two men and sleeping with both of them on the same bed while ordering them to take turns to have sex with her.

The woman, only identified as NaEzy, is reportedly madly in love with Obey Mudimba and Alex Nyathi – with whom she shares one bed.

The practice is known as polyandry, a form of polygamy where a woman takes two or more husbands at the same time.

This by-and-large is not acceptable in Zimbabwe.

Mudimba reportedly left his family at Binga Business Centre to cohabit with NaEzy.

NaEzy reportedly met the two men at one of the nightclubs in the coal mining town where she was reportedly a regular.

It seems she has been torn between the two lovers and is unable to choose between them.

Narrating the development to B-Metro, a source said that NaEzy tricked both men, who were her boyfriends, to come and stay with her, adding that she allegedly stayed with the two men for months before her neighbours became aware of it.

The source said NaEzy chooses who to be intimate with on a particular day and no one goes out of the room and from the bed because he is not on duty.

“She has defied logic by staying with two men under the same roof.

She is like the central referee and she orders both men to sleep on the same bed while taking turns to have sex with her.

Both men, who reportedly sleep side-by-side, respect each other and it seems they have learnt to live with the fact that they share one woman.

“It’s really a ridiculous situation and it’s not our culture that a woman cohabits with two men. It seems she used some concoction to pacify her two men.

Imagine waiting for another man to have sex while you are salivating for your turn to come,” said the source.

Adds the source: “It took long for neighbours to discover that she was cohabiting with the two men since she frequents nightclubs and brings different men home.

“They thought they were her regular clients who were taking turns to visit her until her friend, who found her sleeping with two men on the same bed, revealed the matter to her neighbours”.

Although the two men were not reachable for comment, the woman who answered the phone and initially claimed it was NaEzy later said it was the wrong number after this reporter introduced himself. -B Metro

Mr Mnangagwa Releases Own Man Wadyajena

Justice Mayor Wadyajena and his accomplices were today granted $200 000 bail.

The politician and his accomplices were ordered to surrender their passports and report to police once every Friday.

Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje who granted Wadyajena, ruled that the prosecution failed to stand up its opposition to bail on basis that he would interfere with witnesses

Wadyajena and his c-accused were arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission earlier this week on US $5 million corruption charges. They are accused of embezzling the money which they used to buy and import for themselves 25 haulage trucks from the USA.

In recent years, the Zimbabwean justice system has been criticised for being lenient with prominent people associated with Zanu-PF who have been charged with corruption.

Cases referenced in what is now called a “Catch and Release” routine include those of Wicknell Chivayo, Henrietta Rushwaya, and Dylish Nguwaya.- Pindula News

Walter Magaya’s Bodyguard Beaten To Death By 3 ZRP Cops

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | CID officers yesterday killed a Chitungwiza body builder (who is singer Alick Macheso’s bodyguard) whom they first accused of robbery and have now shifted to say they did it because he was carrying a machete.

Tawanda Zvinowanda (29) was last night killed by detectives after they stormed his family home and place of residence and started accusing him of carrying a machete.
