Mnangagwa Can’t Erase History- Biti

Tinashe Sambiri| The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa cannot erase history.

This was said by CCC vice president Hon Tendai Biti on Thursday.

Hon Biti accused the Zanu PF regime of attempting to obliterate historical facts.

Hon Biti wrote on Twitter:
“The regime’s ban of our 2018 movie “ The President” is confirmation of the rabid paranoia & irrational riots of the Mnangwagwa regime . That movie is our history . A record of our victory in 2018 . Banning the same does not change the reality . It’s undiluted insanity . #Shame.”

The director of President Chamisa documentary has vowed to challenge the ban imposed on the film by the Zanu PF regime.

“We will challenge this ban in the Constitutional Court. Stay tuned.

Former Bosso Star Bemoans Poor Football Administration In Zim

Former Highlanders and CAPS United winger Gabriel Nyoni believes it’s high time football stakeholders in Zimbabwe peacefully demonstrate against the manner in which the game is being administered.

Zimbabwe is currently on a FIFA suspension for what the world governing body termed ‘third party interference’ after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC)’s suspended the Felton Kamambo-led ZIFA executive.

Consequently, Zimbabwe has missed out on AFCON 2023 and CHAN qualifiers, the 2022 Cosafa Cup and clubs won’t take part in CAF’s inter-club competitions, as FIFA insists the sanction can only be lifted upon the unconditional reinstatement of Kamambo.

Nyoni believes the current state of Zimbabwean football is a huge setback for young players and it’s high time the game’s stakeholders take action.

“Peaceful demonstration against poor football governance, boycott football matches as a sign to show we want a better football environment for our country,” said Nyoni when asked of the way forward.

“We will keep quiet until when. We need a leader amongst the people that desires a better football industry for our country.

“Imagine a young footballer trains and prays hard to one day be noticed by a club outside the country for him to earn a better living. How many get to go outside the country? only 5 %.

“What is happening to the rest of the players? Of course they will finish their careers with absolute nothing. Our nation was banned, our clubs are not included in CAF draws and the state of our football stadiums is just pathetic to say the least, what else do we need to know, to start acting as football stakeholders?

“I dont need to wait to be one of the football leaders in our country to take action, we need to do it now as a collective. Fans are pissed off, players are suffering and only a handful are benefiting from such a situation,” added Nyoni.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Riot Police Disrupt President Chamisa Rally In Chipinge

Breaking News

Now Armed riot police and police dogs at CCC Chipinge rally venue: As Zanu PF instructs police to ban CCC Rally in rural Chipinge

As police and High Court banned CCC rally in Chipinge

13th August 2022

Wezhira Munya

Zimbabwe Republic police Superintendent G. Chinyanganya for Chipinge District banned today’s CCC Thank You Rally. President Chamisa was supposed to address the rally at Kondo ward 16.

The police banned CCC Rally because Zanu PF is holding its meeting at Musapingura Primary School.

In the prohibiting CCC supporters from holding their Rally, police superintendent Chinyanganya writes: “l am worried that with such proximity your party CCC members are likely to repeat an act of violence which is on record at ZRP Middle Sabi where we experienced an attack on ruling party members by about 50 members of your party who were celebrating the by elections victory of ward 16.”

The above allegations have been refuted by CCC champion Mr Raphias Sithole.

Interestingly, Zanu PF members are currently holding meeting at Musapingura Primary School near Kondo area where CCC was supposed to hold its Thank You Rally. Zanu PF is holding this meeting without police clearance.

After police banned the Chipinge Thank You Rally , CCC leaders approach Mutare High Court to issue court order nullifying rally ban. Unfortunately, the High Court judge agreed with the police to ban CCC Rally.

President Chamisa writes on his Twitter confirming that the rally has been cancelled. President Chamisa writes: “THEY ARE SCARED & VERY AFRAID.
-The police banned our Chipinge Citizens Thank you Rally.
-We went to the High Court (Mutare) yesterday to challenge the ban.
-The court agreed with the police prohibiting the rally.
It’s a real fight and we will WIN this fight”

Now, heavily armed police with police dogs are at Kondo in Chipinge where CCC was supposed to hold its rally. Police heavy presence at Kondo shows that Zimbabwe democratic space is not free and fair.

Chiwenga, Mnangagwa Threaten Innscor

A TENSE meeting between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Innscor Africa shareholders over allegations of fuelling currency volatilities rocking the market had a chilling effect after Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga reportedly issued a strong warning against the conglomerate, saying government would treat “economic saboteurs” as enemies of the state.

This was revealed by highly placed sources who told the Zimbabwe Independent this week that Chiwenga’s threats left the business executives “shaken”.

Chiwenga, a former Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander, reportedly told Innscor bosses to “shape up or ship out”.

The company has a bold footprint with numerous investments in the fast food sector under Simbisa Brands, National Foods, Irvines, Associated Meat Packers, Prodairy, NatPak, Profeeds, Probottlers, Colcom Foods and National Foods Logistics. It also wholly owns the Botswana Milling and Produce Company.

The meeting comes at a time Mnangagwa’s administration has declared war on what it perceives to be “saboteurs”, frustrating its efforts to turn around Zimbabwe’s fragile economy choked by spiking inflation, currency turbulence and skyrocketing prices.

With Zimbabwe effectively now buffeted by inflationary headwinds, the southern African country swung into the triple figure inflation zone, which saw figures rising to 256% in July from 191,6% in June.

The highly charged meeting, held at Munhumutapa Building, which houses the President’s offices arose over delays by Innscor to settle a hefty loan to various financial institutions, believed to be running into billions of dollars, sources told the Independent.

The explosive meeting was held in May this year, shortly after fiscal and monetary authorities directed financial institutions to suspend lending to its customers, as the government stepped up efforts to stop the economy from haemorrhaging.

In separate briefings, sources said at the meeting chaired by Mnangagwa, Innscor’s proprietors (names supplied) were summoned to explain their borrowing history. The state blamed high parallel foreign currency exchange rates to excessive borrowing.

As narrated by sources, a livid Chiwenga, reportedly ordered Innscor bosses to put their house in order or risk consequences of being treated as enemies of the state.

“During the tense discussions, Chiwenga went ballistic. He told the Innscor proprietors that he wanted them to commit to a holistic solution with Mnangagwa.

“In blunt terms, and evoking his military background to the visibly frightened executives, Chiwenga told them that, ‘I am a soldier, and I consider economic saboteurs as enemies. For every enemy there is a bullet,” a source who spoke on condition of anonymity said.

At that stage of the meeting, sources added, the company’s shareholders then pleaded for time to settle the several amounts owed to various banks.

“After Chiwenga bellowed his orders to the executives, the frightened Innscor shareholders pleaded for clemency and requested time to come up with a repayment plan,” another top government official said.

“As we speak, Innscor is repaying the debt to the banks.”

Officials from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), Treasury and other government departments are said to have attended the hostile meeting, according to the sources.

Innscor board chairperson Addington Chinake, after being quizzed on the agenda and outcome of the said meeting, referred questions to President Mnangagwa’s office.

“I am not available, (I am) outside Zimbabwe. Kindly contact the Presidium for comment,” Chinake said in a brief response texted on WhatsApp. Efforts to get a comment from Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda were in vain as his phone went unanswered.

The reported meeting comes barely two years after Chiwenga summarily fired all nurses who had embarked on industrial action over low salaries while threatening to do the same against doctors.

The development follows reports that a crack team drawn from law enforcement agents had launched a probe into business executives suspected of destabilising the economy through currency manipulating and undermining government efforts to arrest inflation and skyrocketing prices.

High-level officials the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ)’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc), and the Special AntiCorruption Unit in the Office of the President and Cabinet (Sacu) also confirmed the crackdown.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi also confirmed the investigations adding that the police would issue full details while sources said a number of business executives had been summoned by the ZRP Criminal Investigations Department’s (CID) Commercial Crimes Division in connection with investigations into economic sabotage in Zimbabwe. Insccor was one of the companies identified by the FIU for fuelling speculative borrowing on the market after accessing billions in loans.

Gabriel Nyoni Slams Woeful Football Administration In Zim

About ARVs, HIV/ AIDS

HIV/AIDS remains one of the world’s most significant public health challenges, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

As a result of recent advances in access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), HIV-positive people now live longer and healthier lives. In addition, it has been confirmed that ART prevents onward transmission of HIV.

An estimated 28.7 million people were receiving HIV treatment in 2021. Globally, 75% of the 38.4 million people living with HIV in 2021 were receiving ART.

Progress has also been made in preventing and eliminating mother-to-child transmission and keeping mothers alive. In 2021, 81% of all pregnant women living with HIV, or 1.1 million women, received antiretrovirals (ARVs).

WHO has released a set of normative guidelines and provides support to countries in formulating and implementing policies and programmes to improve and scale up HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services for all people in need.

This fact file provides current data on the disease, and ways to prevent and treat it.

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infects cells of the immune system
Infection results in the progressive deterioration of the immune system, breaking down the body’s ability to fend off some infections and other diseases. AIDS (Acquired immune deficiency syndrome) refers to the most advanced stages of HIV infection, defined by the occurrence of any of more than 20 opportunistic infections or related cancers.

Access to preventive interventions remains limited in many low- and middle-income countries.

But progress has been made in some areas such as prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and keeping mothers alive. In 2021, 81% of all pregnant women living with HIV – 1.1 million women – received antiretrovirals worldwide. In 2015, Cuba was the first country declared by WHO as having eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. By the end of 2021, 15 countries and territories were validated for eliminating mother-to-child HIV.

Chiwenga, Mnangagwa Mad : Mthwakazi

Gvt Reveals What Zimbos In SA Can Bring Home Duty Free

By A Correspondent- It’s four months until Zimbabweans in South Africa under the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP) dispensation will be deemed illegal immigrants, after the South African government decided to discontinue these permits.

About 200 000 Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa are set to leave the country and return to their homeland.

While many are hoping for a reprieve, Zimbabwe’s foreign affairs and international relations minister Frederick Shava said this week that those returning “are always welcome back home”.

Shava was in Pretoria to meet with his South African counterpart Naledi Pandor.

Those returning can bring a motor vehicle of their choice into the country without having to pay duty fees, but they will have to pay VAT of 14.5%.

Normally, duty for a private vehicle in Zimbabwe is 100% of its value, including freight charges, so only paying 14.5% is a significant reprieve.

The car should not be older than 10 years. Anyone bringing a car from South Africa needs to have owned it for at least six months before the expiry of their permit.

Anyone over the age of 16 can bring in a vehicle, according to a notice by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.

The notice read:

The suspension is granted to individuals, including their spouses and children, who have previously resided or have been employed in Zimbabwe and are returning to Zimbabwe after having resided outside Zimbabwe for a period of not less than two years.”

The car should be worth R700 000 or less. The owner will also need to “report to the nearest customs office once every year, failure of which full duty waived at the time of importation shall become due and payable”.

There’s no limit to personal property such as furniture and household goods that people can bring back home. These goods, unlike vehicles, aren’t subject to import duty.

Those intending to use the duty-free import facility should present proof that they were working or studying in South Africa.

If the goods are sold within the first two years, then duty becomes due.

The Zimbabwean government has no policy in place or grants for returning nationals to start a new venture or business when they arrive home, and most returning residents will have to depend on their savings.

The government plans to hire buses to take those who cannot afford to pay for their transport to various parts of Zimbabwe.

Shava said:

“This has been on the cards for some time since the South African government pronounced the end of ZEP permits.

“Zimbabweans are also aware of a time limit. We will be working on the logistics of receiving them when they come.

Fine For People Who Refuse Marriage Proposal

By A Correspondent- People who refuse a marriage proposal in Mangalmé in north-eastern Chad must now pay a fine, known as “amchilini”.

The region’s Higher Islamic Council ruled that the figure be between $23 (£18) and $39 for women and $15 for men.

The Chadian Women’s Rights League has launched the hashtag #StopAmchilini to denounce the decision, saying it is illegal as it violates a national law guaranteeing freedom of consent to marriage.

The Islamic Council says its decision was inspired by the Quran. Forced marriages are prevalent in Chad, with young under-age girls the usual victims.

Despite a law passed in 2015 that prohibits child marriages, 60 percent of women aged between 20 and 24 were married when they were still children, according to figures from Chad’s Institute of Statistics.

ED Warns CSOs

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has warned Civil Society Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations against trying to lecture Zimbabweans on how they should behave.

Those CSO and NGO should know their role which is to support various economic en devours of a nation not to lecture on how we must be ourselves. We are already ourselves,” he says.

Speaking when he officially opened the the inaugural Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference (ZEDCON) 2022 in Victoria Falls today, Mnangagwa urged Zimbabweans not spend time envying other economies but to spend time improving their own economy.

“Let’s remain cognizant of the fact that trans formative measures are required to attain vision 2030,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has promised to deal with what he calls market indiscipline

“My government will institute measures to boost confidence in economy while dealing with market indiscipline. I urge everyone to recommit to building the economy and country through love, unity and honesty,” he said.

The conference is hosted by the Ministry of Finance and running under the theme, “Accelerating economic transformation through evidence-based policy making”.

Air Zim-the Missing Link in President ED’s Economic Revival Efforts

By Xavier Zavare | Air travel, the phenomenon that connects the spheres of this earth, enabling the peoples of this world to keep commerce going and physical interactions of humans living far away from each other possible. Travelling by air is an essential aspect of our modern lives in a world so globalised. The convenience of being able to be on the other half of the world within half a day or less to conduct business, move lifesaving, essential cargo, important travel to support sick relatives, bury a loved one or just leisure moments with family and friends is now an integral part of our lives. And this has all become possible due to airline travel.

Those responsible for manufacturing aeroplanes have also introduced comfort to air travel, particularly on long haul flights with main commercial flights manufacturers, US based Boeing and European based Airbus competing to provide unprecedent speedy and comfortable planes for air travellers. The average Boeing Dreamliner plane has luxurious things such as onboard Wi-Fi even for travellers in the infamous Economy class, so does the Airbus A380, which has also increased leg space for the comfort of a long-haul traveller. Some journeys have also become shorter, such that it is now the norm to travel from London to Johannesburg in about 11 hours 10mins, a journey that used to be 15+ hours.

Economic Enabler
As air travel has increased, many governments have recognised how having reliable air connectivity is essential for boosting their economies. Captains of industries want the ability and convenience of being able to travel for business, covering ground as quickly as possible, get on the plane back to their bases or to another country for more business opportunities.
Thus, we witness countries such as United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Ethiopia investing in modern fleets of aeroplanes. Through their airlines namely, Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines respectively, these countries have spread their wings, with routes that cover over half of the major cities of the world such as London, New York, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai. In fact, almost European and African major cities have one these three plying their skies. Add to that British Airways, part owned by the British Government, KLM by the Dutch, and Lufthansa by the Germans.
Whereas there are arguments that by and large, commercial airlines business is not that profitable, particularly for long haul flights, there is also a justified recognition of the enormous economic advantages and benefits derived from having a reliable airline in one’s country.

With President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government placing emphasis on economic development and growth as espoused in the Vision2030 policy, it comes as no surprise to see his government appointing a new substantive board at the nation’s flag carrier Air Zimbabwe as reported in the Herald of 1 August 2022. We should be in no doubt, the new board has its work cut out in this very competitive and ever evolving air travel industry. It will take a while for Air Zimbabwe to go back to what it was once famous for, efficiency with its motto of, “A tradition of caring”.

However, there are some low hanging fruits for the board which can restore confidence in the airline’s name even as it technically boosts economic activities.

Diaspora Market.
At the height of its success, Zimbabwe’s national airline dominated the domestic, regional, and international air travel market. It was an airline of choice for many destined for Zimbabwe or London in the era of British Airways, Qantas of Australia, KML and Lufthansa Germans Airlines. Air Zimbabwe was hospitable, professionally run and had tasty food supplied by Catercraft, a company which employed thousands of people. It had a competitive reputation for safety and reliability. One would expect that the new Air Zimbabwe board will be able to quickly identify that the country has a population which is very ‘air-mobile’ hence the likes of Emirates, Qatar, Kenyan Airways, Ethiopian Airlines and RwandAir regard Zimbabwe as a lucrative destination worth investing in. Some of these airlines have increased their services to the country and extended their operations to one of the best tourist resort places in the world, the Victoria Falls.
Zimbabwe’s diaspora population based in Dubai or London is making these airlines profitable, leading to the expansion of their operations. Air Zimbabwe board would do well to explore how the airline can benefit from a combination of resident Zimbabweans’ enthusiasm to travel for business and leisure to cities such as Dubai, London, and Beijing.

A quick market survey and feasibility study would inform the airline that Zimbabweans are in desperate need of their airline to service routes such as the Harare to London, London to Harare with a direct flight.
The London to Harare and reverse journey, professionally run, would be the springboard of the Air Zimbabwe’s long-awaited revival. Currently, investors from London or Zimbabwe’s strong diaspora population numbering over 500 000 according to the last UK census of 2021 are having to endure an average 20-hour flights to reach Harare. A journey to Dubai or Qatar from London is about 7 hours while going almost an opposition direction to Harare.

Yet a direct Air Zimbabwe flight would average about 10 and half hours from London to Harare and vice versa, reducing the journey time by half. Imagine how convenient it would be for someone coming from London to catch a flight that arrives in Harare in the morning, for example at 6:00am as what used to happen. Conduct their business and be able to travel back in London the next day, or even be on the same day 7:00pm flight to Qatar or Dubai for business or leisure. Such is the convenience of a direct Air Zimbabwe flight to the lucrative route between Harare and London or Dubai, currently the most popular destinations for Zimbabweans.

Even a small country with a population less than 300 000 such as Barbados has direct flights to its capital from London, and the Caribbean country benefits immensely from such. How much more would Zimbabwe benefit from the amount of travel by its own citizens and those travelling for tourism from other capital cities of the world.

Passengers’ numbers in all classes, business/first class and economy have been on the increase between London and Harare. So too has been export cargo, with exporting and importing Zimbabweans as well as the much-courted foreign investors having to depend on Ethiopian Airlines or Kenyans.

Airways for their cargo movements or faster flights to Harare. Even those, take about 16 hours to reach Harare.
The new Air Zimbabwe board would do well to think seriously about what makes the airline relevant and profitable again. Start with a weekly or twice a week direct flights on the routes that used to be oversubscribed for the airline and continues to reward the foreign airlines currently operating, albeit with frustrating stopovers in Addis Ababa- Lusaka for Ethiopian Airlines, Dubai- Lusaka for Emirates and Doha-Lusaka for Qatar and Nairobi with Kenyan Airways.

There is no need for an open for business country to make investors be they foreign or its diaspora population to endure such torturous long journeys via these cities. Air Zimbabwe has a ripe and ready market, the country’s ever increasing, travel loving diaspora population. The land reform farmers who are now producing for the export markets, need an airline that takes their fresh produce etc to world markets quickly. And Air Zimbabwe is the missing cog in the economic recovery led by His Excellency President Mnangagwa.

Debt.

There has been a mistaken belief that Air Zimbabwe cannot travel to London as it faces being ‘attached’ or impounded due to un-serviced London Gatwick debts. A simple enquiry from Gatwick airport authorities confirms that Air Zimbabwe long cleared its debts.

In fact, an Air Zimbabwe senior staff member privy to the matter confirms that the former Chief Executive and now Board Member Mr Edmund Makona lead the debt restructuring negotiations that resulted in Air Zimbabwe initially paying a one of payment of £700 000, with subsequent monthly payments of £140 000 over a 6-month period leading to the nearly £1.6milion debt being paid off. There is no plausible reason, why Air Zimbabwe cannot fly into London or Europe apart from attracting pilots who have enough skills, experience, and requisite hours to fly the type of planes needed for long haul flights. Air Zimbabwe currently have none and needs to rectify that urgently.

The only debts, Air Zimbabwe has is to travel agencies who are still to take advantage of the payment arrangement plan the airline put in place a few years ago. And those debts have no meaningful effect on the airline’s operations.

Competition or Saboteurs
As with any business, Air Zimbabwe will have to contend with competition from other players already plying key, lucrative routes. However, it is intra- saboteurs that it should worry the most about. At its best, Air Zimbabwe can compete with any other airline out there. For the airline to be competitive, it will have to be thorough in its recruitment of both ground staff and cabin crew members.

There is no room for nepotistic recruitment or having impolite staff who think passengers must curtsy to them, whereas the opposite should be happening as without these important travellers, there are no jobs for them, there is no Air Zimbabwe. Providing excellent, professional customer service should be the hallmark of the country’s flagship airline. A tradition of caring should be revived from the office cleaners to the most senior member of the board of management. No excuses, delays and cancellations should be minimised to less than zero percent.

Be professional.
The board should also be careful of potential sabotage from other internal airlines as well as international ones who already know that an efficiently run Air Zimbabwe with direct flights to strategic, lucrative international destinations such as London is a force to reckon with in the air travel industry.

Conclusion
With innovative thinking, sound management, strong, meaningful government support such as given to Emirates, Qatar Airways or Ethiopian Airlines, the skies can be Air Zimbabwe again. And Zimbabweans, both abroad and at home, are ever ready to take pride in their national airline once again. Best wishes to the New Board of Air Zimbabwe.

Minister Complains To VP Chiwenga

By A Correspondent- Bulawayo mayor Solomon Mguni says Provincial Affairs minister Judith Ncube was unfair to lodge a complaint against city fathers to Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga at a public gathering.

Ncube complained to Chiwenga during his visit to Bulawayo that city fathers were in the habit of boycotting and not co-operating with government agencies on national events.

Chiwenga was in the city for a national clean-up campaign in Entumbane high-density suburb, where the council was represented by a low ranking official.

Mguni said city fathers could not attend the clean-up campaign as they were attending a funeral service of late prominent artist Cont Mhlanga at Bulawayo’s Amphitheatre on the same day.

Government and indeed civic communications or complaints are not relayed through the Press. I am yet to get such official communication. It’s only fair that we respond after receiving such,” Mguni said.

“Assuming that comment was made about the city, we would now know the context in which it was made. We had a funeral service for someone who is a recipient of civil honours.”

Ncube, who singled out Mguni in her complaint, was not answering her mobile phone yesterday.

In her complaint, she had said: “Of late, we have been having a challenge VP, BCC does not co-operate well with us. I want to repeat this. Of late, we have a big challenge: the Mayor of Bulawayo does not show up.

We are doing this clean-up campaign not to benefit me or anyone, but for the good of the city of Bulawayo.”

As President Chamisa is expected to address a bumper crowd in Masvingo, Mucheke stadium tomorrow.

As Zanu PF tears Masvingo CCC Rally posters

13 August 2022

Wezhira Munya

Today, charismatic and crowd puller President Nelson Chamisa will be at Kondo in Chipinge, thanking the Citizens Coalition for Change supporters for overwhelmingly voted for CCC councillor during by election last month.

To confirm the THANK YOU RALLY, President Chamisa yesterday, wrote on this twitter, “Citizens Thank You Rally…. We’re at Kondo in Chipinge tomorrow Saturday, to thank the Citizens for overwhelmingly voting for Change in the recent by elections. We’re yellow. We’re Gold.”

The rally starts today at 10am.

Citizens Coalition for Change Chipinge ward 16 councillor defeated Zanu PF, Madhuku’s party and independent candidate. This seat was won by MDC Alliance previously, but unpopular Mwonzora failed to field candidate during by election to reclaim the seat. One of the main reasons MDC Alliance under Mwonzora failed to field council candidate in Chipinge is that the party does not have structures in Chipinge as a result they failed to get a candidate, said one MDC T national member.

This victory cements the narrative that CCC party is rural and urban party.

The are reports from Chipinge that Zanu PF members are trying to stop President Chamisa and CCC party to hold Thank You Rally.

However, fearless CCC champions have vowed to proceed with the rally.

In Masvingo, Citizens Coalition for Change Champions and supporters are engaging in serious door to door and car rallies mobilizing people to attend tomorrow’s rally, said champion Ruth “vaChivi” Mapiye.

President Chamisa is coming to thank Masvingo for voting for four CCC councillors during 26 March 2022 by elections. The CCC victorious councillors are: ward 3 Rock Kamuzondo, ward 4 Aleck Tabe, ward 5 Daniel Mberikunashe and ward 7 Richard Musekiwa.

Panicking Masvingo Zanu PF members yesternight were tearing CCC Rally posters in ward 4 and other wards.

Champion advocate Martin Mureri a human rights defender said, it is illegal for Zanu PF members to tear CCC posters and police must arrest these thugs.

Tomorrow’s Masvingo CCC Rally was cleared by police.

According to champion Jefferson Chitando, first 7 000 people to enter Mucheke stadium will receive free CCC yellow flag. CCC members in Masvingo have made beautful CCC flags. Mucheke stadium will be yellow.

Masvingo Thank You Rally starts at 10am.

Mark Ngwazi Told To Grow Up

Mark Ngwazi

By A Correspondent- Generally, artists are considered as role models, which means their actions and behaviour must be impeccable.

Artists, especially musicians, create a following through their conduct on and off the stage, and when the artists misbehave or are associated with vices such as drugs, usually their life turns into one miserable mess.

Because artists are usually the voice of the voiceless, many organisations have and continue to engage them for different initiatives that include, but are not limited to awareness campaigns.

Musicians, for example, end up being ambassadors of certain initiatives. Sungura ace, Alick Macheso, for instance, was appointed the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society ambassador in 2013 because of his ethical and exemplary behaviour as highlighted by his annual Chitungwiza General Hospital charity show that helps the sick.

The list of model artists is quite long and many have, thus, supported them because of their moral uprightness.

But sadly, many Zimbabwean musicians are yet to make the cut.

Sungura singer, Mark Ngwazi is one such artiste who really needs to grow up because at the moment, it would seem he has grown big-headed.

His comment after he failed to turn up for a show at PaGomba Cafe in Beitbridge on Heroes Day leaves a lot to be desired for an artist of his calibre.

We can only assume that probably he was not aware of the show, which speaks to the critical issue that artists need to rope in the services of managers or publicists.

Lone ranger musicians are a recipe for disaster. They are a serious danger to themselves and society.

When contacted for comment over why he didn’t turn up for the Beitbridge show, Ngwazi shot back at the journalist saying: “You can just write that I have nothing to say as regards that issue. I am about to perform here at the Defence Forces event and you want me to say something now because you want me to, you can go ahead and say I have nothing to say.”

If this guy had a manager, which is very doubtful, his deportment would most likely be different.

No doubt, Ngwazi has talent and great potential, but such behaviour of failing to turn up for shows and then be rude to the Press for merely asking for answers leaves a lot to be desired.

Ngwazi doesn’t even realise that he may have unwittingly banished himself from Beitbridge town, where people were injured after those who had paid to attend his botched show vented their anger by throwing missiles everywhere.

In April, Zimdancehall artiste Killer T did not show up for a gig in Botswana and the result was chaos that saw bouncers being stabbed in violent skirmishes.

According to media reports, he had been paid US$2 000 for the show.

We beseech all other creatives across the arts not to be short-sighted and headstrong like Ngwazi. They are, however, free to do so at their own peril, of course.

ED Appoints New Perm Sec In Mines Ministry

By A Correspondent- President Mnangagwa has appointed Mr Pfungwa Kunaka as the new permanent secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development.

In a statement on Friday, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said Mr Kunaka’s appointment is effective from 22 August.

“His Excellency the President has, in terms of section 205 (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe No 20 of (2013) as amended, approved the appointment of Mr Pfungwa Kunaka as the permanent secretary in the ministry of Mines and Mining Development,” Dr Sibanda said.

Mr Kunaka holds a BSc Degree in Economics and has risen within Government services from being an economist in the ministry of Finance and Economic Development to the post of Chief Economist Revenue Expenditure, Director, Fiscal Policy and Advisory services and Chief director and Expenditure Management.

Dr Sibanda said the new permanent secretary engaged with several developmental partners at bilateral and multilateral levels and with international financial institutions to hammer out projects, programmes and investment deals on behalf of the country.

Under the Second Republic, Mr Kunaka was seconded to the One Stop Shop Investment under the office of President and Cabinet to establish the formative infrastructure to operationalise the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Authority (ZIDA), added Dr Sibanda.

Mr Kunaka thus brings vast knowledge of and experience in public administration and management across all sectors of government and a deep understanding of the sectors of the economy in relation to their contribution to inclusive and substantial national development.

“He is a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for financial analysis and management, evaluation of investments and negotiation of agreements to best advantage of the country,”

Dr Sibanda added that the deployment of Mr Kunaka to the mining sector will bring the requisite stability and sustain inclusive growth in the industry in its quest to meet its strategic targets under the ongoing national development.

Kenya Election-Commission Stops Media From Tallying Results

By Reuters- The Kenya Electoral Commission has discouraged media organisations from tallying election results as this could incite violence.

Only the electoral commission is authorised to declare a winner, but the tallies done by media were seen as a bulwark against the rigging allegations that have previously sparked violence.

While Kenya is East Africa’s richest and most stable nation it also has a history of violent elections disputes. More than 1,200 people were killed after the 2007 elections and more than 100 after the 2017 elections.

The race is to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, who must step down after serving the maximum two five-year terms. Leading contenders are former political prisoner and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto. Kenyatta has fallen out with Ruto and endorsed Odinga.

Media tallies, which had nearly stopped by Friday morning, showed Odinga and Ruto neck and neck, just under the 50% mark they needed to win. Less than a percent was divided between two other marginal candidates.

If no candidate wins more than 50% plus one vote, the two frontrunners will have a run-off.

On Friday the election commission chairman Wafula Chebukati blamed party agents for the slow pace of the official count, which has not yet topped 1.5% of the vote.

“Agents in this exercise cannot proceed in the manner which we are proceeding, as if we are doing a forensic audit,” he told a news briefing at the tallying centre.

“We are not moving as fast as we should. This exercise needs to be concluded as soon as possible.”

Later on Friday, Chebukati told reporters an election officer posted in Embakasi East constituency went missing on Thursday morning after stepping outside to make a phone call. His disappearance has been reported to police, he said.

During the 2017 election, the head of information technology was found murdered shortly before the vote, a crime that has never been solved.

RIGGING CLAIM

Late on Thursday, the chairman of Kenyatta’s Jubilee party, which has backed Odinga, issued a statement alleging “massive subtle rigging” and claiming the “electoral process was highly compromised” after Ruto’s new party made a strong showing in an area traditionally dominated by Kenyatta.

The statement alleged voter intimidation, bribery, illegal display of campaign materials in polling stations, mishandling of party agents and incorrect use of election materials. It provided no evidence and did not explain why the allegations had been made so late. Reuters could not reach party officials for comment.

International observers have generally praised the proceedings in the elections.

Previous elections have largely been determined by ethnic voting blocs. But Ruto has sought to make this election about economics, portraying himself as a self-made “hustler” in contrast to political dynasties. Odinga and Kenyatta are the sons of Kenya’s first vice president and president, respectively.

Ian Dan, a parcel service attendant in the main bus park in Odinga’s stronghold of Kisumu in western Kenya, said business was very slow.

“We are in darkness and this is not good for us. People are anxious and need to have a clear picture,” he said. “There are allegations of rigging flying in social media, but many people are waiting to hear from Raila Odinga or William Ruto. Their word will influence people’s reaction.”

MEDIA SLOWDOWN

The electoral commission is the only body legally authorised to declare a winner. It initially uploaded images of results forms from more than 46,000 polling stations, but had not tallied them. Instead, media houses employed teams to download forms and enter them into a database.

More than 99.7% of polling station results are in but thousands have not been counted by the media. The abrupt slowdown started when around 80% of the vote had been counted.

Prominent Kenyan columnist and cartoonist Patrick Gathara criticised the slowdown, posting on Twitter: “So once again KE media have chickened out and have stopped updating their counts? It was too good to last.”

But executives from Citizen and Nation Media groups said exhausted staff needed a rest.

“Now we have about a third of people working that we started with and we intend to pick up pace in the next few hours when the rest of the team come back,” said Linus Kaikai, director of strategy at Citizen.

Stephen Gitagama, the CEO of Nation Media Group, said his staff also needed a rest and that they focused on quality control. He referred Reuters to the election commission, known as the IEBC.

“IEBC bears the responsibility of providing the results, not the media,” he said.

On Friday morning, the election commission displayed an official count of presidential results on a board at the main tallying center. It had counted 1.5% of the vote.

The commission has seven days to announce a winner.

Garden Boy Steals Employer’s Mercedes Benz, Crashes It

By A Correspondent- A Bluffhill woman got the shock of her life upon returning from work and finding her costly silver Mercedes Benz missing after her gardener, Takudzwa Masawi, had allegedly disappeared with it about a fortnight ago.

In a dramatic turn of events, Masawi later collided with the vehicle in Hatcliffe Extension, failed to report the accident, contracted a motor mechanic to repair it and disappeared after failing to meet the bill.

The mechanic traced the owner of the vehicle using some papers that were in the car, leading to the eventual recovery of the stolen property.

On the fateful day, Sithembiso Ndlovu (39) recalls rushing to work in the morning leaving her car, registration number AET 4333, and everything else at her Bluffhill home in Westgate, in the care of her maid, Dorcas Moyo and the gardener.

Taking advantage of the prolonged absence of the maid who had gone to hospital, Masawi packed all his belongings from the home, stuffed them in the Mercedes Benz and drove away unnoticed.

Ms Ndlovu could not believe her eyes upon her return when she didn’t find her car.

Her investigations revealed that it had been stolen by the gardener whose mobile phone number was no longer reachable.

Apart from the car, the gardener allegedly stole the employer’s two doors and tyres.

Masawi had worked for the employer for less than five months.

He is still on the run.

Kenya Elections-Ruling Party Claims Rigging

By Reuters- Kenya’s ruling party has claimed that the elections are being rigged, fuelling anxiety among the citizens.

The secretary-general of Kenya’s governing party said this Friday without providing evidence of his claims.

Media outlets also significantly slowed down their unofficial tallies from Tuesday’s tight vote.

Only the electoral commission is authorised to declare a winner, but the tallies done by media were seen as a bulwark against the kind of rigging allegations that have previously sparked violence.

Chiwenga Threatens To “Shoot” Innscor Bosses

By-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga reportedly told Innscor Africa to put its house in order or to be treated as an enemy of the state amid reports that the company was fuelling currency volatilities rocking the market.

According to The Independent, Chiwenga confronted the company during a meeting between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Innscor Africa shareholders over the allegations.

Innscor has numerous investments in the fast food sector under Simbisa Brands, National Foods, Irvines, Associated Meat Packers, Prodairy, NatPak, Profeeds, Probottlers, Colcom Foods and National Foods Logistics. It also wholly owns the Botswana Milling and Produce Company.

The meeting comes at a time Mnangagwa’s administration has declared war on “economic saboteurs”, frustrating its efforts to turn around Zimbabwe’s fragile economy choked by spiking inflation, currency turbulence and skyrocketing prices.

The Independent further states that the meeting was held in May at Munhumutapa Building over delays by Innscor to settle a loan to various financial institutions, believed to be running into billions of dollars.

The publication was told that in separate briefings, Innscor’s proprietors were summoned to explain their borrowing history. It is then that Chiwenga allegedly ordered Innscor bosses to put their house in order or risk the consequences of being treated as enemies of the state.

A source who spoke to The Independent on condition of anonymity said:

During the tense discussions, Chiwenga went ballistic. He told the Innscor proprietors that he wanted them to commit themselves to coming up with a holistic solution with Mnangagwa.

In blunt terms, and evoking his military background to the visibly frightened executives, Chiwenga told them that, ‘I am a soldier, and I consider economic saboteurs as enemies. For every enemy there is a bullet,”

The Independent also learnt that Innscor then pleaded for some time to settle the debt.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has severally indicated that the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) was monitoring truant players in the economy.

Innscor was one of the companies identified by the FIU for fuelling speculative borrowing on the market after accessing billions in loans.

Chiwenga Falls

By- The High court has ordered Health minister Constantino Chiwenga to pay $900 000 in damages to a woman who suffered a miscarriage because of negligence by health officials at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital in 2020.

Valerie Chibaya, with assistance from the Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA), instituted legal proceedings against Chiwenga, who doubles as the country’s Vice-President, after her hospital ordeal.
Chibaya filed for damages for pain and suffering in the sum of $800 000, loss of amenities of life $100 000, contumelia $300 000 and $281 757,63 for violation of her constitutional rights.
High Court judge Justice Never Katiyo ruled in her favour after a full trial.
Chibaya was awarded
$800 000 for pain and suffering and $100 000 for loss of amenities, with Chiwenga ordered to settle the damages within 60 days.
Her claim for contumelia damages and violation of her constitutional rights was dismissed, with the court reasoning that there was no intention by the health officials to humiliate her.
In her court application, Chibaya said she went to the hospital on June 17, 2020 after experiencing unusual stomach pains when she was 23 weeks pregnant.
She said doctors and nurses did not take her temperature, blood pressure, or sugar levels nor did they do a routine check-up on her, insisting that she got a scan before they could attend to her.
Chibaya was only attended to the following day after her husband begged for help.
In defence, the defendant sought to blame Chibaya for the miscarriage saying she delayed having an Ultrasound Scan.
In a Press briefing held yesterday, WLSA director Fadzai Traquino welcomed the ruling as key in the fight for women to enjoy access to sexual reproductive health and maternal health rights.
“Together with our various partners and stakeholders, we have been helping and running various programmes for women and girls. The court’s order is quite progressive as it expands on the meaning and application of the constitutional rights enshrined in section 76,” Traquino said.

Kombi Crew Disciplines Overzealous Police Officers

By- Two overzealous police details were beaten up by a Glen Norah Kombi crew in Harare.

However, the kombi crew has been arrested and charged with assault and kidnapping.

NewZimbabwe.com reports that the duo, Shepherd and Allen Zharare, in that order, are aged 30 and 18.

They briefly appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, Thursday charged with assault, resisting law officers and kidnapping.

The Zharare siblings will be back in court Friday for bail application.

According to prosecutors, the two work as commuter omnibus (Kombi) driver and conductor respectively.

Prosecutors told the court that on the 9th of August, along Mbuya Nehanda and Charter Road in Harare, Shepherd was driving a Toyota Hiace and allegedly resisted arrest after he stopped at an undesignated place to pick up passengers.

The court heard Allen and two others, who are still at large, were touting for passengers when Constables Memory Manyande and Pindire Cairo, who were on duty, then pronounced the arrest of the four.

The police officers allegedly boarded the kombi and instructed the driver to drive to Harare Central Police Station.

He then drove off at high speed along Simon Mazorodze and out of town to Southerton.

They later stopped and pushed the police officers out of the vehicle and they sustained injuries which are yet to be treated.

The court heard the team also assaulted the officers with clenched fists and open hands, knowing very well that they were law enforcement agents.

They also deprived the peace officers of bodily movement when they locked them up in the vehicle.

Sikhala, Sithole Clock 2 Months In Remand Prison

By- CCC deputy chairman Job Sikhala and his counterpart Godfrey Sithole have clocked 59 days in remand prison since their arrest in Nyatsime.

The bail hearing of the two for their first charge of inciting the June 14 Nyatsime violence has been rolled to Tuesday 16 August 2022 for oral bail submissions.

This was after the defence lawyers failed to access all the documents in the file.

Lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, who is seconded by the Zimbabwe NGO Forum and the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights was at the Harare Magistrates’ court tracking Sikhala’s file.

Sikhala and Sithole are citing changed circumstances, but the State is opposing saying the accused have not placed any changed circumstances to compel the court to revoke its earlier decision to deny them bail.

The two legislators, together with a dozen other Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party activists, were arrested on the 14th of June and charged with inciting the violence which erupted during the funeral wake of slain CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali.

They have all been denied bail twice by both the Magistrates and High Court and they are in Chikurubi Maximum security prison.

On top of charges of inciting violence, Sikhala was hit with fresh charges of obstructing the course of justice based on the same circumstances.

Mwonzora Vows To Shock Detractors In 2023

MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora says his party will shock its detractors in the 2023 elections despite failing to win a single parliamentary or council seat in the 26 March 2022 by-elections.

Speaking on Thursday during This Morning on Asakhe, a programme hosted by CITE on Twitter Space, Mwonzora said the party’s dismal performance in the by-elections is now water under the bridge. He said:

For us, the by-elections are a bygone; we did not do well but we are not perturbed by that.

Mwonzora said he draws inspiration from the likes of Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln in the United States, Robert Mugabe and President Emmerson Mnangagwa who at one point failed in their lives but still picked themselves up and continued with their missions. He said:

We are rebuilding our organisation and come 2023 we will be an extremely potent force and we are brewing a shocker for the nation. There is absolutely no question about it.

I want to quote Garry Kasparov, the Russian, Soviet Union champion, who says that you should not glory in your past victory.

You think that what was there on the 26th of March 2022 is the same as on the 11th of September 2022, things have changed.

Society has changed, things are moving and so on. So we should not remain fossilised in the past. We have failed before we have risen in the MDC.

He said the MDC had a history of falling and rising in elections since contesting for the first time in 2000. He said:

In 2000 it scored very well, almost getting a majority in Parliament. In 2005 it went down, lost its parliamentary advantage, and I think lost about 11 seats.

Then in 2008, the MDC went up, winning the presidency, winning Parliament, and all the Councils. In 2013 we went down.

In 2018 when we were together we did very well and our presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa did very well in the presidential election.

Of course, he thinks that it is only his. His achievement is not on the team, but that is his opinion but did objectively well in 2018.

In the by-election, we did badly. We are now on the upward swing. This is the trend of the MDC.

Those historians out there who care to study the MDC must find that there is a trend.

So we are happy that we are on our way up and we will provide a shot come 2023.

Byo Mayor Unimpressed By Minister’s Report To Chiwenga

BULAWAYO mayor Solomon Mguni says Provincial Affairs minister Judith Ncube was unfair to lodge a complaint against city fathers to Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga at a public gathering.

“Government and indeed civic communications or complaints are not relayed through the Press. I am yet to get such official communication. It’s only fair that we respond after receiving such,” Mguni said.

“Assuming that comment was made about the city, we would now know the context in which it was made. We had a funeral service for someone who is a recipient of civil honours.”Ncube, who singled out Mguni in her complaint, was not answering her mobile phone yesterday.

Mliswa Defends Emmerson Mnangagwa Says Susan Mutami Has No Intergrity

Norton independent Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa has leaped to defend President Emmerson Mnangagwa and other government officials named dropped by Susan Mutami when she poured out her rape saga, claiming her allegations were politically motivated.

Mliswa who was presenting a series of WhatsApp messages between Mutami and Politburo member Kenneth Musanhi said Mutami could not be trusted because she lied to him that she had given birth to twins after their separation.

Mutami has one toddler and the whereabouts of the other child remains a mystery.

“We cannot have little girls whose profession is well known, just getting up speaking from nowhere, ‘I was abused’ this and that Í was young’ this and that and so forth and you are talking about this years later,” Mliswa said.

“If it is that you want to expose this person who abuses, why do you not do it earlier,” he said.

Mliswa also questioned the sincerity of Mutami’s claims given her proximity to the President.

“The issue is to deal with the perpetrators and you deal with them on time, so how sincere are you about being abused by somebody whom you still go and see face to face,” said Mliswa.

He also chastised the culture of falsehoods on social media saying: “The credibility of the person is critical, the very same person told you she was expecting twins and even put the twins on Twitter again but now there is one.”

With regards to the unexplained disappearance of the other twin, Mliswa said he was filing a  police report in Queensland, Australia, on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mliswa threatened to expose Mutami’s advances to him as she solicited money and other goodies from him while rubbishing claims that he impregnated a Form two student before forcing her to abort.

“So where is the girl in Norton, what is her name, what are her parents saying, ‘they are running scared’ but you are exposing the President, the number one citizen and you are not scared yet the family in Norton which you allege her daughter I slept with are,” he added.

Mliswa however challenged Mutami and the public to reveal details of his alleged abuse.

While reading out a string of messages between Mutami and Musanhi, Mliswa exonerated President Mnangagwa following a text in the chat that claimed the first secretary of Zanu-PF was an angel.

“When you cease to help her  she will attack, it’s a trend. When she gets dumped she gets emotional and finds stories,” said the Norton MP

President Chamisa’s Yellow Revolution Invades Masvingo City

Popular President Nelson Chamisa holds by election victory celebration rally in Masvingo Province on 14th August 2022

As Masvingo police give permission to Masvingo CCC to hold celebration rally…

11 August 2022

Wezhira Munya

It’s Citizens Coalition for Change celebration time in Masvingo urban and province at large after resoundingly defeated Zanu PF, MDC T (Alliance) and other small parties during past by elections.

Chief Change Champion President Chamisa will give a keynote speech at Mucheke Stadium this coming Sunday , 14th August 2022.

The program starts at 10am.

Citizens Coalition for Change Masvingo Provincial Administrator Mr Mandi Matutu confirmed that police granted permission to hold the victory celebration rally.

In addition, Masvingo urban champion Mr Peace Mapope who is among the organisers of this rally encouraged Citizens Coalition for Change Champions, supporters and Masvingo residents to saturate Mucheke Stadium.

Masvingo urban is Citizens Coalition for Change stronghold as it has Hon Jacob Nyokanhete as it’s only member of Parliament in Masvingo province out of 26. Also, it has four CCC councillors who defeated Zanu PF and MDC Alliance on 26th March 2022 by elections. The following CCC councillors won by elections in Masvingo urban:

Ward 3 CCC councillor Rocky Kamuzonda , ward 4 CCC councillor Alex Tabe, ward 5 Councillor Daniel Mberikunashe and ward 7 Richard Musekiwa.

On Sunday, President Chamisa will have the opportunity to thank Masvingo CCC supporters and champions for resoundingly voting and supporting CCC, said Champion Jefferson Chitando.

In 2018, majority of Masvingo urban voters voted for President Chamisa. President Chamisa had more votes in Masvingo urban than Zanu PF president Mnangagwa. In addition, in Masvingo urban President Chamisa’s councillors won 7 council seats out of 10.

Furthermore, President Chamisa’s by election campaign rally that was held in Rujeko ground few days before 26th March 2022, had more 40 000 people in attendance.

It is against this background that Mucheke Stadium will have an overflow on Sunday as “yellow team” celebrates election victory.

The CCC “structureless” and newly formed party has been winning by- election seats including in rural areas such as in Chipinge.

President Chamisa, has introduced a new and fresh political strategy.

Currently, CCC champions have been deployed in rural and urban areas under Mungwazo concept. As a result of this strategy, CCC is winning elections.

Contrary, MDC T (Alliance) under Mwonzora is dying quickly. Under Mwonzora MDC T dismally performed during first by elections by getting zero votes and then decided not to participate in any by election. The once mighty MDC T is failing to pull crowds at its rallies and many members have left the party including Mash West provincial chairperson Konjana. They cited Mwonzora’s incompetence as one of the reasons of leaving MDC T.

There is more trouble for MDC T led by Mwonzora as it is failing to hold congress according to their constitution. There are serious fights in MDC T currently, as Teams belonging to Komichi, Mudzuri, Mwonzora and other factions are fighting each other.

On the other hand, Zanu PF has serious internal fights as Chiwenga and Mnangagwa factions are fighting each other. It’s dog eat dog in Zanu PF. Recently, there was blood on the floor when Masvingo Zanu PF factions belonging to Masvingo Resident Minister Chadzamira and Masvingo provincial chair Mavhenyengwa youths members fought during provincial elections. The youth provincial elections were then cancelled.

Traditionally, Zanu PF under Mugabe used to win all by elections. However, under Mnangagwa Zanu PF has lost many by elections.

Mwonzora : I Adore Mnangagwa

CCC Mugwazo Gathers Momentum

Chambara Family Tournament mobilized many youths in Makoni South Constituency yesterday during mugwazo.

11 August 2022

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia District applaud the diligence exhibited by its vibrant and organic chairperson Elisha Chambara who gathered scores of the millennial generation through ball games as a sure way of mass mobilisation ahead of the historic 2023 elections. The committed and dedicated Family Trust organised and sponsored a mouth-watering tournament meant to encourage citizens to register to vote for change in 2023. The chair made it point blank that their main target were the youths who seem to be indifferent to the socio-economic and political upheavals in the motherland.

All roads led to Gandanzara Primary School, Makoni South where football and netball games were hosted by the energetic Chambara family. The tournament was launched as a way of promoting ‘mugwazo’ where champions are given a revolutionary target to recruit, mobilise, radicalise, organize and register citizens to vote for the change that delivers. The district salutes such a pragmatic approach to the national democratic. Prizes included:Gold, Silver & Bronze medals, soccer and netball kits, football and netballs – women also received sanitary pads.

Moreover, change champions in ward 23 hosted the inspiring tournament. We were delighted to learn that the participants also enjoyed refreshments celebrating their new inspiration to vote for President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. The hosting Ward 23, Chimbike Chikuruwo team scooped gold, Ward 18 grabbed silver, Ward 23, Gandanzara Gwidza Chin’ono team won bronze, and Ward 17 was in 4th place in football. Netball results were as follows: Gold was won by Ward 18, Silver Gwidza, ward 23 followed by Ward 23 Gandanzara, and on the 4th was ward 17. We encourage all change champions across the globe to get inspiration from the blessed Chambara family.

On a different note, Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia Rundu Branch Interim Treasurer General Obert Chesango handed over a financial donation to the International organiser Amos Chibaya ahead of Gokwe Kabuyuni by-elections. Simbarashe Ndoda, Rundu Branch interim Secretary-General encouraged branch members to keep on supporting the struggle materially and financially. He went on to urge citizens in Namibia and across the globe to supplement moral support with materials and finances needed to accomplish our mission.

Mugwazo is the only panacea to reach our desired 6 million voters for change in 2023. Thank you, Mr. Chairman! Thank you, Rundu Branch Treasurer-General Obert Chesango for the sacrifice. I hope all external assemblies shall be inspired by this outstanding commitment.

Furthermore, Namibia District is thankful for the donations that came from the Citizens Coalition For Change European Union towards the dedicated polling agents who protected our vote in the recently held by-elections in Kariba and Chipinge. Ambassadors in Europe who subscribe to the yellow revolution paid more than 30 polling agents after the elections. Salutations to our CCC Ambassador to the UK and EU, Doc. Eliot Pfebve, and UK Interim Spokesperson Patricia Chinyoka not forgetting all champions who contributed to the noble cause. Everyone must play his or her part in the yellow revolution.

In a nutshell, citizens in Namibia continue to demand the unconditional release of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, the Nyatsime 13, and all political prisoners who are victims of political imprisonment.

Sikhala Clocks Two Months Behind Bars

Chiwenga Loses Court Case, Ordered to Pay $900K

Chiwenga Speaks On Stomach Surgery

By-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has refuted reports that he was Thursday admitted to a local health care centre for stomach surgery but admits visiting the said hospital.

Local online news partial yesterday reported that Chiwenga, who doubles as the Minister of Health and Child Care, was admitted to Borrowdale Trauma Center for a routine check-up.

The news site said that the Vice President arrived at the elite health centre just before 3 PM in a six-vehicle convoy where he was “due to have surgery to correct some discomfort in his stomach. It must be routine, otherwise, he would have gone to China.”
In a video clip circulating, Chiwenga suggested that the reports were untrue, adding that he had every right to visit health institutions as a minister of Health. Watch the video below for more:

Galloway Bounces Back

Brendan Galloway made his competitive return to action on Wednesday after spending nine months on the sidelines nursing a knee injury.

The Zimbabwean defender suffered the injury on November 23, 2021, and had an operation to repair a torn patellar tendon, which attaches the bottom of the kneecap to the top of the shinbone.

The 26-year-old missed the remainder of the last term and only returned in the pre-season, where he featured in a few friendlies but missed the opening two games of the League One campaign.

Galloway made his competitive return in the Carabao Cup first-round encounter against Peterborough, starting in the game and playing until the hour-mark.

He was among the seven changes made in the team that played in League One last weekend.

The match ended in a 2-0 loss to Plymouth Argyle, who bowed out of the competition.

Facts About HIV/ AIDS

Missing Zvishavane Minor’s Body Found Decapitated

By A Correspondent- The decapitated body of a minor (10) most likely killed for ritual purposes was found in Zvishavane after the girl went missing for three days.

The beheaded body of Tadiwanashe Chakavanda Hove from Tichaona Village under Chief Mazvihwa, who was doing Grade 3 at Gwemombe Primary School, was found at the family homestead on Friday.

The missing head was later brought to a neighbour’s door by a dog. An axe and knife suspected to have been used in the murder were found, according to sources.

Admire Simango, a family member of the deceased, confirmed the story to The Mirror. Efforts to get a comment from the Police were futile up to the time of going to print.

The child went missing on Wednesday last week, and Police were alerted on Friday, said Simango.

“The killer was not experienced as he failed to get rid of the tools. An axe and a knife reportedly identified as tools used to brutally axe the child were found,” he said.

Mnangagwa Acquits Rushwaya As Wiwa, Sithole Languish In Prison

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has acquitted Henrietta Rushwaya as CCC officials Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala and Hon Godfrey Karakadzai Sithole languish in prison.

In a statement on Friday, CCC Namibia accused Mr Mnangagwa of protecting thieves and murderers while innocent citizens are facing relentless presecution.

CCC Namibia says Rushwaya’s acquittal is a travesty of justice.

Read statement below:

Henrietta Rushwaya’s acquittal raises eyebrows:CCC Namibia demands justice for Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala & others.

12 August 2022

Today, our outspoken change champions Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Karakadzayi Sithole, and the Nyatsime 14 have clocked 58 days at Chikurubi Maximum Prison on trumped-up charges for demanding justice and an abrupt end to the incessant gross abuse of the fundamental basic freedoms in the motherland. It is quite infuriating that real criminals are acquitted every day because they are politically aligned to the repressive and authoritarian regime led by Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Yesterday we glimpsed the illegal acquittal of a criminal who was caught smuggling 6kilograms of gold to Dubai. Henrietta Rushwaya’s recent discharge epitomises how selective application of the law is being exploited to punish the innocent and release genuine criminals because they support ZANU-PF. This astronomical levels of impunity unearths the regime’s serious capture of our rotten justice system. Citizens in Namibia are also cobra-headed to witness Obadiah Moyo walking away with 60 million US$ covid funds in 2020 without proper prosecution.

More so, the Namibia district is so perturbed that those who are siphoning national resources through hook and crook are walking scot-free when Wiwa, the lawyer for the deceased is languishing in the hell-hole of Chikurubi Maximum Prison for speaking the truth to power against enforced disappearances, gross misgovernance and unprecedented corruption. It is now imperative that our judiciary, police, and government should commence respecting the rule of law and constitutionalism. Separation of powers is enshrined in the supreme law of the motherland hence the Executive should not interfere with court officials discharging their duties. The clueless ZANU-PF regime must halt its manipulation of state institutions.

Furthermore, we are cognizant of the fact that our toiling is authored by the stomach politicians who are eating on behalf of the downtrodden masses of Zimbabwe. We strongly challenge the impunity and immunity of ZANU-PF corrupters and butchers who are escaping the wrath of the law because of their political inclinations. Chombo, Mupfumira, Obadiah Moyo, Chivhayo, Henrietta Rushwaya only to mention but a few are criminals who should be housed in the filthy Chikurubi Maximum Prison because they are authentic thieves. Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala and others are just prisoners of conscience tortured to deter social democrats from amplifying their revolutionary voices against maladministration in the satanic regime.

Moreover, citizens must wake up and smell the coffee! This is the opportune time to demonstrate solidarity with the incarcerated so that we rejuvenate their fighting spirit. Citizens in Namibia urge all Zimbabweans across the globe to pent up their outrage and peacefully demand the immediate release of Sikhala and others. The continued incarceration of these freedom leaders is a clear attempt by the corrupt regime to silence the voices of dissent ahead of the 2023 historic elections. Citizens must register to vote against impunity and lawfare. It is now clear that Sikhala and others are political prisoners who are enduring inhuman treatment at the hands of dictators desperate to retain power at all costs.

Let’s all register to vote for independent state institutions in 2023, we are now sick and exhausted of these shenanigans which punish the innocent and spare bona fide thieves and killers because of their political homes. We can’t continue with biased judges who take instructions from the SHAKE SHAKE building. The judiciary should follow the supreme law of the country in a constitutional democracy. Citizens should amplify their voices against this seriou state capture of all state organizations.

Husband’s Lover Physically Attacks Married Woman

By A Correspondent- A woman from Tshabalala suburb is fed up of being physically attacked and branded a pr0stitute by her husband’s lover.

Kelsina Chikukwa claims Isabel Ndiweni has been a headache in her marital life and has caused a strain on her marriage.

Chikukwa says Ndiweni is in love with her husband and she is plotting to destroy her marriage as she is in the habit of sending a string of hurtful WhatsApp messages labelling her a pr0stitute.

Ndiweni confronts her at her home and causes a scene as she shouts 0bscenities at her and physically attacks her. Chikukwa claims her love rival has the guts to come to her home in her absence and give her children food.

Chikukwa does not want her children to be given food by Ndiweni and she fears that she could poison them.

To put an end to the verbal and physical abuse, Chikukwa applied for a protection order at the Western Commonage Court.

“My name is Kelsina Chikukwa, I’m applying for a protection order against Isabel Ndiweni. She is in the habit of sending me a string of WhatsApp messages insulting me and at times she confronts me at my home and brags of being in love with my husband and she calls me a pr0stitute.

“This has caused a strain between me and my husband. She even comes to my home during my absence and gives my children food. I’m afraid she will poison them. Therefore I’m applying for a protection order,” she said.

The presiding magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja granted Chikukwa a protection order. Ndiweni was ordered not to go to Chikukwa’s home and she was also barred from physically and verbally abusing her.

Mnangagwa Protects Thieves, Murderers, Punishes The Innocent

Baby Burns To Death As Father Listens To Loud Music

Kaylor Kapuka was playing with her seven-year-old uncle, Alexander Kadufe, in a Ford Ranger, when tragedy struck.

She was rushed to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital where she died.

Her father was reported to have been listening to loud music, sitting a few metres away from the vehicle.

Mnangagwa Is My Inspiration- Mwonzora

Daring Driver Steals Chrome Load, Delivers Empty Truck

By A Correspondent- A daring truck driver sold the 30 tonnes of chrome he was supposed to deliver at the Port of Beira in Mozambique before proceeding to the intended destination with an empty truck.

He allegedly converted the proceeds of the sale to his personal use.

This came to light after the 31-year-old truck driver, Agreement Chivandire, appeared before Mutare provincial magistrate, Mr Richard Ramabao recently facing theft of trust property charges.

Chivandire, who was arrested at Forbes Border Post in Mutare, was arraigned before the court together with Terence Simbarashe Zimano (38) who bought the 30 tonnes of chrome, valued at US$30 000.

Both accused persons were granted $40 000 bail and will be back in court next week.

It is the State’s case, led by Mr Chris Munyuku, that on July 7, Chivandire loaded a 30-tonne truck with 30 tonnes of chrome at Afrochine Mine, Selous, in Chegutu.

The load was meant for delivery at the Port of Beira in Mozambique on behalf of Chivandire’s employer.

Chivandire is employed as a truck driver by Romboard Trading in Harare.

Mr Munyuku said three days later, Chivandire left Harare and drove towards Mutare after his export papers had been processed.

It is alleged that along the way, Chivandire connived with Zimano to steal the chrome.

Accordingly, Chivandire sold the chrome to Zimano who then disposed the loot.

Mr Munyuku said on July 23, Chivandire’s employer was informed that he had arrived at the intended destination at the Port of Beira with an empty truck.

The matter was reported at CID Rusape, thereby leading to Chivandire’s arrest at Forbes Border Post.

His accomplice was arrested in Chegutu.

Cellphones which were used by the accused persons to communicate during the commissioning of the offence were recovered.

Drama At Court As Woman Tries To Kill Self

By A Correspondent- There was drama at Chipinge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday afternoon after a 23-year-old woman tried to commit suicide at the court premises.

Security details had a torrid time as they battled to retrieve a bottle containing an insecticide from Tsitsi Sithole.

Tsitsi attempted to commit suicide after her father, Luke Sithole, had been granted a protection order against his three children.

The Sithole siblings of KoperaVillage under Chief Mapungwana’s area are being accused of harassing their father.

Chipinge magistrate, Mr Alfred Chinembiri, granted a default judgement after Tsitsi and her siblings arrived at the court late.

However, this did not go down well with Tsitsi when the court outcome was explained to her.

In a flash, she produced a small container with an unknown insecticide from her purse with the intention of gulping the contents.

Swift reaction from the security details and onlookers stopped her from committing suicide as they had to wrestle with her to retrieve the insecticide.

“It is better to end my life by drinking this poison because my father is not sincere. Two people died mysteriously in our family. We have consulted spiritual healers and we have been told that our father murdered someone and that the avenging spirit needs appeasement.

“Our father is not playing ball. We dragged him to a community court, but he absconded. We were taken aback when he approached the civil court to make a protection order application against us. My life has not been rosy.

“I was married, but was divorced because of the spirit haunting us.

“My two children are suffering,” cried Tsitsi. She produced a letter from Headman Chivhunze which she had intended to produce before the court.

The letter reads in part: “Tsitsi Sithole akamhangara Luke Sithole mudare raHeadman Chivhunze musiwa 18-05-22, asi Luke haana kuuya kudare ramambo kusvikira nanhasi.

“Pane nyaya yepfukwa iri kudakugadziriswa kumusha mavo. (Tsitsi Sithole made a report against Luke Sithole at Headman Chivhunze’s court on May 18, 2022, but Luke defaulted. He has not appeared before the court up to now. There is an avenging spirit haunting the family and the issue needs to be dealt with).”

Although Luke refused to entertain the Press, his court affidavit reads: “My children are disturbing my peace with my new wife. They are visiting me armed with dangerous weapons, accusing me of being responsible for their misfortunes.

“I am therefore praying for a protection order since I am no longer living peacefully with my wife.”

You Can’t Erase History, Biti Tells Mnangagwa

Stay tuned.

President Chamisa Takes Yellow Revolution To Masvingo

VP Chiwenga Ordered To Pay $900k Damages Over Miscarriage

By A Correspondent- HEALTH and Child Care minister Constantino Chiwenga has been ordered to pay $900 000 in damages to a woman who suffered a miscarriage because of negligence by health officials at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital in 2020.

Chibaya was awarded $800 000 for pain and suffering and $100 000 for loss of amenities, with Chiwenga ordered to settle the damages within 60 days.

“Zanu Pf, ZRP, CCC Top List Of Human Rights Violators”: Report

By A Correspondent- In its latest report, the Zimbabwe Peace Project has said Zanu Pf continues to dominate the list of human rights violators with the Zimbabwe Republic Police trailing on second place and the Citizens Coalition for Change coming third.

Said the ZPP in its report:

“In our round up this month, we note that Zanu PF has continued to dominate the list of human rights violators, at 50 percent, followed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), which contributed to 24 percent, or 354, of all the violations
ZPP recorded.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), was responsible for 29 (four percent) of all violations recorded
while the Zimbabwe National Army was responsible for 12
violations.

For the ruling party, it has always been about its escalating thirst for domination ahead of the 2023 elections.

ZPP notes that the party has, since April, launched a systematic campaign to threaten and intimidate opposition supporters in
rural areas such that by the time the official campaign period begins for the 2023 elections, villagers would have lost the little that remains of their voice and chance to choose leaders of their choice.

On the ZRP, it is so much about the police’s continued use of archaic and selective methods of law enforcement.

The ZRP continues to be an enforcer for the ruling party, ready to arrest those that do not agree with the ruling party, and prepared to look away when the ruling party is on the wrong side.

The CCC, which has remained on the receiving end of violence,
with 196 of its members being victims in July, also contributes
to human rights violations as internal fights surfaced in the
party formed in January this year.

ZPP continues to express concern over the 31 cases of politicisation of food and other aid and the 138 cases of harassment and intimidation as well as the18 cases of unlawful detention and 42 assaults recorded. This points to a situation where Zimbabweans have become more and more vulnerable
to human rights violations without any form of protection or any source of recourse and law enforcement agents continue to
prove to be either incapacitated, partisan or unaware of their
mandate to protect Zimbabweans.”

Elderly Man Forced To Eat Raw Goat Meat

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating a case in which law enforcement agents forced an elderly suspected cattle rustler to eat raw stolen goat meat.

NewsDay Zimbabwe was told that the incident occurred at Guyu Police Station in Matabeleland South.

National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying the police do not condone acts of pre-trial punishment.

We are investigating this case and the public should know that this matter will not be swept under the carpet.

In video footage circulating online, an elderly man who identified himself as Rich Malinga admits having stolen and skinned a goat during interrogation. He said in response to a female police officer:

I found many goats in my field and I hit one and it died. I skinned it.

Malinga was then ordered to eat the raw meat and he complied

“Council Employees Sabotaging Exercise On Illegal Structures”: Chitungwiza Acting Mayor

By A Correspondent- Chitungwiza acting mayor, Kelvin Mutimbanyoka says council employees, including management, were sabotaging an ongoing operation against illegal structures.

He speaks amid a demolition blitz on illegal structures that started on July 14 in which over 20 structures have so far been demolished.

NewsDay Zimbabwe quotes him as saying:

I have realised that a lot of council employees and management are involved in the illegal parcelling out of land and they are now throwing out spanners in my way.

They are now working against me by constantly stalling the programme. Some of them are working in cahoots with land barons. We are doing an internal investigation. We want to bring sanity to this town. The days of lawlessness are over.

This is not the first time Chitungwiza Municipality has demolished illegal structures in the dormitory town, having done so over the years, but the structures keep reappearing, while some owners have resisted the demolitions through the courts.

Last December, the municipality was forced to stop the planned demolition of some properties after the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) protested against the local authority’s actions.

Said the Harare City Council:

By A Correspondent- Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, will be in Masvingo this weekend to lead his party’s victory celebrations for urban wards which they clinched during March 26 by-elections.

Chamisa is expected to address thousands of party supporters as he continues to visit areas where his party triumphed.

CCC Masvingo spokesperson, Dereck Charamba, confirmed the Sunday rally saying Chamisa was coming to Masvingo with two objectives.

“The Citizens’ president is indeed coming to Masvingo. He has two objectives; to thank the people of Masvingo for voting CCC overwhelmingly in the March 26 by-elections and also to deliver a special message,” Charamba said.

The party had a clean sweep in the urban wards, but performed dismally in rural wards and constituencies.

Chamisa is reportedly going to hold the rally at Mucheke Stadium despite calls for him and his party to shift focus to rural areas.

However, CCC officials in Masvingo are on record saying they are shifting focus to rural constituencies ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.

Meanwhile, trouble continues in the ruling Zanu-PF party’s Masvingo structures as factional fights  escalate.

Rivalry between Minister of State, Ezra Chadzamira and Zanu-PF provincial chairperson, Robson Mavhenyengwa, has been renewed.

The two rival factions are angling to clinch the provincial youth chairperson post which fell vacant following the elevation of John Paradza to the position of deputy national youth secretary early this year.

One of the front-runners in the race is Charles Munganasa, who allegedly flip-flopped from Mavhenyengwa to Chadzamira’s faction, who is legislator for his home area.

Israel Lunga, who is reportedly being backed by Mavhenyengwa was dealt a major blow after he was disqualified on election day following concerns that he was overaged, thereby failing to meet the set template dictates.

Chaos reigned supreme on the day, prompting the elections to be brought to a halt as youths who backed Lunga cried foul and demanded that their preferred candidate be reinstated to contest.

Insiders claim Lunga is Munganasa’s closest rival, with an equal chance to clinch the post since he has backing of other party bigwigs in the province.

Zanu-PF provincial spokesperson, Ophias Murambiwa, was not reachable for comment as he wasn’t picking up calls until it went to voicemail.

Driver, Conductor Abduct Cops, Beat Them Up, Dump Them

By A Correspondent- Two Harare siblings from Glen Norah are in hot soup after they allegedly teamed up to assault and kidnap police officers after committing a traffic offence.

The two are Shepherd and Allen Zharare aged 30 and 18.

They briefly appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda, Thursday charged with assault, resisting law officers and kidnapping.

The Zharare siblings will be back in court Friday for bail application.

According to prosecutors, the two work as commuter omnibus driver and conductor respectively.

On the 9th of August, along Mbuya Nehanda and Charter Road in Harare, Shepherd was driving a Toyota Hiace and allegedly resisted arrest after he stopped at an undesignated place to pick up passengers.

The court heard Allen and two others, who are still at large, were touting for passengers.

Constables Memory Manyande and Pindire Cairo, who were on duty, then pronounced the arrest of the four.

It is alleged that they entered the commuter omnibus and instructed the driver to drive to Harare Central Police Station .

Council Employee Exposed In Court

By A Correspondent- Former Harare City Council (HCC) employee Roy Nyabvure was yesterday exposed as having caused the demolition of a showroom in Borrowdale after fraudulently approving its building plans.

The court heard that Nyabvure was later dismissed from work after the fraudulent plan was discovered.

Nyabvure is a State witness in the case former Pokugara Properties general manager Michael van Blerk is accused of perjury.

Yesterday, Nyabvure was testifying against Van Blerk, who is accused of deposing an affidavit at the High Court stating that the plan used to build the house was fraudulent.

The complainant, George Katsimberis, is accusing Van Blerk and Pokugara of demolishing the showroom he built under a joint venture agreement with Pokugara.

While under cross-examination, Nyabvure was asked by Van Blerk’s lawyer, Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara, if he was the one who signed the alleged building plan and he responded “yes”.

Zhuwarara gave Nyabvure a letter which was written by HCC acting chamber secretary Charles Kandemiri confirming that the said plan did not follow laid-down procedures when it was approved. The letter was read in court saying the plan did not follow circulation procedures for it to be approved.

Nyabvure admitted that the plans submitted in court as evidence did not follow circulation procedures.

He, however, insisted that the plans were correctly approved.

Zhuwarara told Nyabvure that he signed the plan before it circulated to different offices for approval, and that by testifying in court, he was trying to defend his fraudulent approval.

“Although the stamps were authentic, the procedure was not followed. So you put your signature on a plan that was not circulated and you are here to defend your fraudulent approval. Signing the plan resulted in the house built without proper documentation demolished,” Zhuwarara said.

“Do you have evidence that the plan you approved circulated before you signed it?” Zhuwarara asked.

“I do not keep records,” Nyabvure replied.

Another letter from the council’s housing director Chawatama notifying Pokugara of the impending demolish of the showroom was produced by Zhuwarara and read in court.

Another letter directed to the police, who were investigating a fraud matter against the complainant, was also produced in court.

Magistrate Ngoni Nduna postponed the matter to August 30 for continuation of trial.

Storm Over VP Chiwenga’s Claims On King Mzilikazi’s Ndebele Kingdom Links

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has invited spirited challenge over his involvement in the post-independence Gukurahundi killings after recently claiming that he and President Emmerson Mnangagwa had links to King Mzilikazi’s Ndebele kingdom.

“Their joint acts and actions (make a nonsense of) the claim that they have royal links to the Khumalos, because many of the things that they have done are contradictory to the house of Khumalo,” said ousted Ntabazinduna Chief, Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni.

You cannot have such a noble bloodline and yet when it comes to an opportunity of reassuring that bloodline, you reject it.”

Secessionist Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) leader, Mqondisi Moyo, said; “The spirits of over 40,000 people they massacred during Gukurahundi now making them go insane,” said Moyo.

“Why would both Chiwenga and Mnangagwa, as the nephews of Mthwakazi, kill their uncles?”

Mnangagwa was state security minister while Chiwenga was head of Bulawayo-based One Brigade when more than 20,000 were killed in the 1980’s military campaign many describe as a genocide targeting the Ndebele across the Midlands and Matebeleland provinces.

Chiwenga, who recently married long-time lover Miniyothabo Baloyi, claimed during a visit to his in-laws in Filabusi, that his great grandmother was one of King Mzilikazi’s many wives.

He further claimed that Mnangagwa’s grandfather grew up in King Mzilikazi’s royal kraal and was he was conscripted into one of the kingdom’s crack military regiments.

Many locals and political activists have questioned the lineage claims given the two’s involvement in the Gukurahundi killings.

Public discussion of Gukurahundi was taboo under long-time ruler President Robert Mugabe who was prime minister at the time of the atrocities and only described them as a “moment of madness”.

The new dispensation under Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has initiated public discussion of the emotive subject and government redress of concerns of victims and survivors.

This has however, been dismissed as insincere by activist groups.

“Both of them Mnangagwa and Chiwenga), as the murderers of our people, are shedding crocodile tears on our people,” said Mthwakazi leader Moyo.

“They are making Mthwakazi their playing ground. Why is it every time they say these sentiments when they are in Mthwakazi?”

He added; “They can’t utter such nonsense in Mashonaland because they never perpetrated the Genocide that side.”

Matabeleland activist group Ibhetshu LikaZulu leader, Mbuso Fuzwayo said Chiwenga should focus, instead, on fixing the country’s struggling economy.

“The unfortunate part is that they want to divert us from national issues to family issues,” said Fuzwayo.

“It’s not important how he is related to the Khumalos; he is a national leader and must deal with national issues, period. Relations are private matters.

“He was in Bulawayo in the 80s, why did he not raise his closeness to the Khumalo’s then and why did he house the fifth brigade that killed his uncles?”

Fuzwayo continued; “My question is, how is it relevant with his position?

“We can’t allow ourselves to debate and focus on non-issues; he (Chiwenga) is a public officer and must deal with national issues not family matters.”

“I Am Not Sick”: VP Chiwenga

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga who doubles as the Minister of Health and Child Care has denied reports saying he was yesterday admitted to the Trauma Centre and Hospital for a “long-planned procedure.”

ZimLive Friday reported that Chiwenga arrived at the Trauma Centre and Hospital in Borrowdale just before 3 PM in a six-vehicle convoy where he was “due to have surgery to correct some discomfort in his stomach. It must be routine, otherwise, he would have gone to China.

In a video clip circulating, Chiwenga suggested that the reports were untrue adding that he had every right to visit health institutions as a minister of Health.

“Am I not allowed to visit a friend who wants to set up a hospital for open heart surgery? Should I not visit an institution to see the new equipment that they have bought? How do I execute my mandate and visit my hospitals as health minister?” said Chiwenga in a video doing the rounds on social media.

Jailed CCC Top Chefs Lodge Fresh Freedom Bid

By A Correspondent- Jailed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) law makers, Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole will, through their lawyers, file a fresh bail application at the Magistrates Court Friday after spending 59 nights in jail.

The duo, together with a dozen other party activists, were arrested on the 14th of June for allegedly inciting the violence which rocked the memorial service and funeral wake of slain CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali.

Sikhala is also a top lawyer who was representing Ali’s family and was on the forefront demanding justice on her murder.

All the activists have been denied bail twice by both the Magistrates and High Court and they are in the nation’s maximum-security prison, Chikurubi.

On top of charges of inciting violence, Sikhala was hit with fresh charges of obstructing the course of justice based on the same circumstances.

Meanwhile, the two CCC lawmakers have renewed their freedom bid and will be back at the Magistrates court tomorrow.

“Sikhala and Sithole clock 58 days in remand prison for allegedly inciting the 14 June Nyatsime violence. They will be back at the Harare Magistrates Court tomorrow, 12 August, applying for bail under changed circumstances.

“Sikhala will also be at the High Court tomorrow applying for bail on his second charge of obstructing the course of justice,” the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO forum said in a statement.

Sikhala has been arrested more than 70 times but never convicted of any crime.

An international law firm, Amsterdam & Partners, about two weeks ago joined Sikhala’s team to bring justice in the case which they say is politically motivated.

Man Kills Self Over Memory Card

By A Correspondent- A 20 year old Chinhoyi man committed suicide after an altercation with his grandfather over a missing memory card.

Tinashe Tereka, who was staying with his grandfather, took his life last Friday after being questioned about the disappearance of the memory card.

“His grandfather asked him politely to return the memory card he had taken.

“He was angered by being accused of stealing the memory card and decided to kill himself.

“I was shocked to hear that he had hanged himself,” said a neighbour.

Residents, who spoke to H-Metro, said Tereka was using crystal methamphetamine, which might have prompted him to end his life.

“It is very painful to lose Tereka in such a way. I am yet to come to terms with his death.

“Surely, how can one kill himself over a mere memory card?

“Maybe, he was high on mutoriro,” said Makanyara Kateguru.

Another resident urged parents to be firm with their children against drug and substance abuse.

“This is a wake-up call to all parents to save our children’s life boat from sinking.

“I never anticipated that he would end his life in such a way,” he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Lovemore Zuze.

“It is very saddening to note that most of the youth, including school-going kids, are now hooked on drugs,” said Zuze.

A psychiatrist based at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital, Gerald Nyarambi, told H-Metro, that the majority of youths in this era have been affected by drugs and substance abuse.

“Drug abusers develop memory loss, lack of concentration, hallucinations, paranoia, reduced appetite, violence and aggressive acts in society,” said Nyarambi.

“When one is under the influence of alcohol, and other drugs, they become vulnerable and exposed.

Tereka’s death comes hardly a fortnight after a 19-year-old teenager from Banket was murdered at a Guka base.

Tereka was buried in Chinhoyi on Sunday. Speakers at the burial denounced drug and substance abuse as a new cancer which needs urgent attention.

Man Sells Dad’s Property, Spends It On Booze, Women

By A Correspondent- A man who has been physically and verbally abused by his son rushed to Western Commonage Court to apply for a protection order.

Reason Ncube (65) from Mpopoma suburb lost a lot of property after his son – Hlalani Ncube (40) allegedly stole it and sold it cheaply.

He used the money to buy booze and to hire s3_x workers.

Neighbours told Ncube that Hlalani was the one who was stealing his property and selling it.

When Ncube asked Hlalani about the missing property his cheeky son launched a verbal attack on him branding him a senseless man.

Ncube is not employed and due to that at times he does not have money to buy meat as such he cooks vegetables as relish.

In Masvingo, our four councillors won on March 26 by-election. So we will be thanking the people of Masvingo for voting for our councillors.

The four councillors are Rocky Kamuzonda (Ward 3), Aleck Tabe (Ward 4), Daniel Mberikunashe (Ward 5) and Richard Musekiwa (Ward 7).

Mwonzora Acknowledges Chamisa Popularity

By- MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora has acknowledged that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa remains popular but said his party would shock the nation in the next year’s general elections.

Speaking on Thursday during This Morning on Asakhe,  hosted by CITE on Twitter Space, Mwonzora said this would be so despite failing to win a single parliamentary or council seat in the 26 March 2022 by-elections.

 He said:

For us, the by-elections are a bygone; we did not do well but that does not perturb us.

You think that what was there on 26 March 2022 is the same as on 11 September 2022, things have changed.

Prayer Meeting For Jailed Wiwa

By- Civil Society organisations under Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) will host a prayer meeting this Friday to observe human rights abuses.

The meeting to be held at Africa Unity Square will focus on the persecution of CCC deputy chairman Job Sikhala.

The CiZC said it would submit a petition to the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) and Parliament after the event.

“There has been a recent rise in political tensions in Zimbabwe, which has been accompanied by an upsurge in incidents of political violence at least since the run-up to and holding of the March 26, 2022 by-elections. The situation has also seen the concomitant arrest and persecution of human rights defenders and their unfair treatment by law enforcement agents and the courts,” CiZC said in a concept note seen by NewsDay.
“Yet, despite the existence of Chapter 12 institutions, notably the ZHRC as well as Parliament, these institutions have seemingly continued to give a blind eye to the continued denial of fundamental rights and freedoms.”
A number of human rights and opposition activists, including legislators Job Sikhala (Zengeza West) and Godfrey Sithole (Chitungwiza North) are languishing in remand prison facing various charges.
In a correspondence sent to affiliates on Monday, CiZC chairperson Peter Mutasa said only 400 people will be allowed at the prayer event.
“To ensure that we conform to the conditions set for the prayer rally, we are requesting that you forward 40 people to participate at the rally. A representative from your organisation will also be invited to give a solidarity speech,” Mutasa wrote.
“The coalition has notified the Zimbabwe Republic Police of this event as provided for under section 7 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act [Chapter 11:23]. Pursuant to this, the coalition has also held consultations and negotiations with the Zimbabwe Republic Police over this event as provided for under section 8 of the same Act.”
Recently, police banned a planned CiCZ march where its members plan to protest the country’s worsening human rights’ situation. Newsday

We must fix the confidence deficit and legitimacy crisis.

Everything responds to authentic undisputed and legitimate leadership. The blueprint is coming soon…

Sikhala Refuses Nov Trial Date

CCC Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala has refused to be tried in November on a matter he is accused of falsifying that a police officer last year beat to death a baby strapped to its mother’s back with a baton in Harare’s city centre saying the date is too far.
Sikhala demanded to be tried within the next two weeks saying he should be given priority since he is in remand prison.

This was after the State set November 21 as the trial in a matter he is charged with communicating falsehoods prejudicial to the State.

Mr Kennedy Madekutsikwa, appearing for the State, told the court that they intended to record two more witness statements between now and November.

Sikhala appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje, who is expected to rule on whether he be given an earlier trial date or return to court on November 21. – state media

Mnangagwa Launches Own Teachers’ Union

GOVERNMENT has approved a new teachers’ union with the moniker “Teachers for ED (Economic Development)”, NewsDay has learnt.

A circular dated June 22, 2022 written by the secretary of Primary and Secondary Education Tumisang Thabela to all provincial education directors, states: “It is noted that Teachers for Economic Development has completed setting up structures in the 10 provinces of the country and requested authority to launch the provincial chapters and the national chapter.

“In view of the above, authority is hereby granted to conduct the provincial and national launches of the Teachers for Economic Development. Kindly liaise with provincial education directors in the respective provinces on the suitable dates and venues.”

But other teachers’ unions, which have been demanding that government should pay them in United States dollars, said this was a ploy to frustrate their fight for a living wage.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe national secretary-general Robson Nikita Chere said they were concerned that politicians are working in cahoots with ministry officials to introduce a political creature disguised as Teachers for Economic Development.

“We urge the teachers to disregard, disapprove and dismiss the abuse of the teaching profession through commissariat schemes played by the regime under the guise of such unions. Like any other worker or profession, teachers should be left free and distant from partisan politics except if it is voluntary.

“The Constitution of Zimbabwe under sections 64 and 65 clearly makes a demand for good administrative conduct, and that means administrative conduct that is free from political intrusion,” Chere said.

He said President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime had been abusing schoolchildren by force-marching them to rallies and using school buses to ferry Zanu-PF supporters to such events.

“To come in dark garments of Teachers for ED and pretending to have solutions to our suffering is only aimed at harvesting votes from the education sector,” he added.

Educators’ Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Tapedza Zhou said: “If teachers publicly align themselves to a certain political party, it will not only be prejudicial to their service, but is a serious act of misconduct.

We condemn all moves that are divisive and discriminatory to teachers.

“Government officials and party officials have an obligation to assist in ensuring that all teachers remain non-partisan as it is a precondition for the smooth delivery of service to the State.”

Progressive Teachers Union president Takavafira Zhou described the new group as “a masquerade with the intention to divert teachers from crucial labour issues”.

“Worse still this masquerade has solicited Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s assistance in order to launch its provincial and national structures and was granted permission on 25 July 2022. Teachers must smell a rat,” Zhou said.

Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said the second republic was very democratic and had no ulterior motives in authorising the formation of the Teachers for Economic Development union.

” As an inclusive government that leaves no one behind, we have no objection to the formation of the new teachers’ union as its formation will greatly assist in the sustainability of teachers’ upper middle-income class status.

“I can tell you for certain that with such kind of teachers’ unions that are focused on economic development, issues of teachers’ industrial action will soon be a thing of the past as these teachers utilise their skills for the economic emancipation and welfare of the nation,” Ndoro said.- NewsDay

Magamba Slaps Chamisa With ‘Violent Skit’

By Showbiz Reporter | The ever naughty Magamba Network artists have released a skit of Nelson Chamisa telling Job Sikhala to hold on, because God is in control.

The script, which comes at a time when Sikhala did not get adequate support when he was punished for uttering traditional mythical statements in honour of his clients the family of the murdered Moreblessing Ali.

Analysts say the CCC party was supposed to stage a demonstration pr some kind national force in support of Sikhala.

The script is partly as follows:

SIKHALA: Hello, hello President can you hear me? Here things are bad, it’s so cold in prison here.

CHAMISA: Yes I hear you, how are you Job (Mabasa)?

SIKHALA: Here things are not well president, it’s so cold president, I am dying of hunger.

CHAMISA: Shame, shame, why do they do this these people?

SIKHALA: They came and took me in a black car with number plates president.

CHAMISA: Haaa, I am very sorry Job, we are in a liberation struggle, keep fighting. I tell you one day Zimbabwe will be free, and will be ours. Keep fighting. Hold on tight, God will protect you

SIKHALA: Aaaah president I am the only who keeps getting arrested president. Aren’t we in this fight together president?

CHAMISA: Hello, hello [Chamisa starts rubbing his phone pretending to be serious about the conversation.

Your phone is breaking breaking, my young brother, your phone is breaking. Wait I will talk to you. Wait I will talk to you right now I am busy.

PHONE CUT OFF.

IN A SUGGESTIVE THAT HE HAS JOINED THE CULTURE OF THE ELITES, CHAMISA LOGS ONTO TWITTER AND WATCHES VP CONSTANTINO CHIWENGA PROMISING THAT THINGS WILL GET BETTER SOON SINCE THE ISRAELIS TOOK 40 YEARS TO ENTER THE PROMISED LAND. HE THEN SIGHS OFF HIMSELF WITH THE TRADITIONAL, THE SITUATION NOW NEEDS MUKOMANA (THE YOUNG MAN).

Fortue, I’m tired, I just want to die. I’ve put everything in order. My bag there is packed has everything. My policy is up to date.

It’s always been my wish to die first that you give me a proper burial. Bury me to my father’s left. Take care of the family. I love you Fortue….. I’m going through a lot.

You comfort me, you do a lot but I’m sorry brother, I have to die. I don’t want to mention people’s names because I don’t want to destroy people.

I’ve everything that any person can wish for but I’m tired. I just want my brother, hanzvadzi yangu Fortue to come and take me. Ndakatadzeiko ini?- Pindula News
