Palace Target Zemura

Jordan Zemura says he will not be affected by his contract situation at Bournemouth.

The Zimbabwean defender entered the final six months of his deal, and talks for a new contract were suspended in December to avoid any distraction on the player’s performances.

His performance at Cherries has seen him linked with EPL sides Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Leicester City.

Zemura, who made his debut in the Carabao Cup in September 2020, has made 22 appearances for the club this season, scoring three goals.

Asked if his contract situation had been on his mind, Zemura told the Daily Echo: “No, not at all. At the end of the day, I think the gaffer was right.

“When we had the chat about it, it’s true, I’m still so young.

“So having talks about something like that is a bit like, ‘what do I worry about? Do I worry about this?’.

“So, for me, I just listen to the gaffer. I’ve listened to him since he’s first to come in and just left it. Whatever comes, we’ll just revisit it when we need to.

Facts About Air Pollution And Lung Cancer

Credit: World Health Organization

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Why does WHO consider air pollution a major public health emergency? If you live in areas with high levels of air pollution, does COVID-19 impact you differently? Hello and welcome to Science in 5, I’m Vismita Gupta-Smith. We are talking to Dr. Maria Neira today.

Welcome, Maria. Maria, let’s start with why does WHO consider air pollution a major public health emergency?

Dr Maria Neira

Hello, everyone. Well, when you have more than 7 million premature deaths every year, every single year associated with exposure to air pollution, I’m sure that everybody agrees that this is a major public health issue. Actually, nine out of every 10 people around the world, particularly those living in cities, are breathing air that is not consistent with what WHO considers the good standards according to our air quality guidelines for breathing and still be healthy. And, you know, for many years, we thought and most of the diseases linked to exposure to air pollution were considered only to be affecting our respiratory system. And this is still true. Very much. Exposure to air pollution is responsible for chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, lung cancer, pneumonia, name it. But in addition to that, we know now that these toxic particles will come to our lungs and from there to the bloodstream will reach our cardiovascular system and then be responsible for ischemic heart diseases, for neurological disorders, for stroke, for neurological problems as well in general and reproductive system issues. So, as you can imagine, all of those reasons tell us consider that air pollution is one of the biggest public health issues we are confronting today.

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Maria, if a person is living in a highly polluted environment where whether air pollution levels are very high. Does COVID-19 impact them differently?

Dr Maria Neira

Yes, we have now more and more scientific evidence. One reason is that exposure, long term exposure to air pollution will affect your immune system and therefore will make you more susceptible to any type of respiratory diseases. And obviously, COVID-19 is a respiratory disease. In addition to that, we know that exposure to air pollution will increase the risk for chronic diseases like cardiopulmonary, like metabolic diseases, diabetes. And we all know now that those diseases are the so-called co-morbidities that will increase the risk for more severity and even later outcome if you are a patient with COVID-19. So, yes.

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Maria, when we think about air pollution, it seems like the scale is so big and what can we do to reduce it? Share with us some examples of initiatives that governments and organizations took, which actually reduced air pollution.

Dr Maria Neira

Well, clearly the best way to reduce air pollution will be stop burning fossil fuels. I mean, that combustion of the fossil fuels is contributing not only to climate change, but to generate this high level of pollutants that then end up in our lungs. So changing that policy around which source of energy we are using will be one of the most effective. Legislation, go for enforcing the air quality guidelines of WHO. But if we go to concrete measures, of course at the city level, you have measures now going for change in the transport, the public transport system they have, promoting more sustainable ways of public transport, reducing the use of private cars, going for more efficient energy use of our buildings, making sure that they reduce the traffic congestion in certain areas. And we can see that all of those measures are immediate. They have immediate positive outcomes. Obviously, as an individual, the best you can do is to put pressure on your politicians, on your mayors. Make sure that there are systems to monitor the air quality that you are breathing every day in your city. And by doing so, ensuring that measures are taken at the political level. If the situation on air pollution is really bad, if we take measures, there is optimism. You can see that in European countries, for instance, or North America, the situation improved very much in the last 20 years. We are still far in other parts of the world and we still need to put in place measures on sustainable transport, a clean and modern use of energy sources and all our way of consuming, recycling. And therefore we will be able to tackle this huge problem of air pollution. Tackling the causes of climate change will bring enormous benefits as well on reducing the causes of air pollution and therefore contributing enormously to our health.

Vismita Gupta-Smith

Thank you, Maria, for explaining this link, this interconnectedness between our health and that of the planet. Thank you very much. That was Science in 5 today. Until next time then. Stay healthy, stay safe and stick with science…

Zimbabwe Warriors Out Of 2023 AFCON

The country’s senior men national team, the Warriors, will not take part in the upcoming Afcon 2023 qualifiers, after FIFA banned Zimbabwe from international competitions for government interference in the running of the game.

Fifa took the decision to sanction Zimbabwe yesterday and ordered the suspended Felton Kamambo-led Zifa board to be reinstated for the ban to be lifted.

“We had to suspend two of our member associations; Kenya and Zimbabwe for government interference in the activities of the football associations,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“So the football associations are suspended from all football activities with immediate effect and they know what needs to be done before they are re-admitted,” he added.

In response, SRC Chairman Gerald Mlotshwa scoffed at the sanction, insisting Kamambo and company will not be reinstated.

“Pending any such compromise, the ZIFA Executive Committee and the General Secretary shall
remain suspended. The various matters pending before the Courts in Zimbabwe shall continue
as shall the criminal proceedings and all other actions focused on restructuring football in our
country,” Mlotshwa said in a statement.

“Domestic football will continue in Zimbabwe. It will be supported fully by the SRC, as has been
the demonstrable case thus far.
ZIFA will return to the “FIFA Family” when it is in a condition fit to do so,” he added.

The sanction, as well as the refusal of the SRC to reinstate the suspended Zifa board, means the Warriors will not take part in the upcoming Afcon 2023 qualifiers scheduled to start in March.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Stop Taking Instructions From Zanu PF, President Chamisa’s CCC Challenges ZEC

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition For Change( Namibia) has pointed out that ZEC is failing to perform its duties in line with expected constitutional principles.

In a statement on Saturday morning, CCC Namibia said ZEC must be disbanded…

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) must be disbanded:Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia echoes!

26 February 2022

Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia(CCC) comprehends that the constitutional functions of the purported independent body ZEC are as follows: 1)Preparing for conducting and supervising all elections in Zimbabwe and referendums.2)Ensuring that elections are free, fair, transparent, credible and perfect in accordance with the law.

This however, has not transpired as Yellow Revolutionaries and other stakeholders claim that the institution is biased in favour of Zanupf serial elections fraudsters. Our message is very clear, ZEC should religiously follow the constitution in the country by ensuring that elections are free, fair and credible.

Multiple irregularities from ZEC in terms of directing and controlling voter registration become a clear testament that the organisation does not respect the constitution of the country. It has dismally failed to direct and control voter registration since the inception of the democratic project then led by the late Icon Dr Morgan Tsvangirai, may his dear soul rest in power. The country has experienced voter apathy because ZEC does not conduct voter education to lure virgin voters and the obvious reason is their empathy to the unpopular Harare regime.Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC)Namibia demands that releasing voters rolls and registers should be done within the confines of the supreme law. We absolutely condemn the excess rigging through the capture of the body.

Moreover, Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia alleges ZEC of providing inaccurate, inadequate and biased information to the electorate favouring the incumbent party. It must be clear to the citizenry that the operations of the body should be in compliance with the ZEC Act which has been abandoned taking instructions straight from the Shake Shake Building! We demand an independent body that represents and protects the will of the people. In short ZEC must be disbanded for abusing the constitution.

Against its mandate to keep the public informed about preparations of elections, ZEC has chosen to ignore the masses.

There is no voter registration campaign launched by ZEC, the registration centres remain hidden and inaccessible from the general populace which is a deliberate ploy to promote voter apathy. Before the registration blitz was launched in February, only 63 registration centres out of the expected 2000 were pathetic for an election body that claims to be independent from the Harare regime. Results of votes are always a challenge and all matters concerning the work of the commission are questionable. In 2008, the poll results took a month and a half before they are published which is quite satanic in a democracy.

On numerous occasions the ZEC has been dubbed captured by the clueless Zanupf and their independence questioned by the alternatives as well as international independent media. ZEC never condemned Zanupf political violence and intimidation of voters prior and post elections. Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia believes that the June 2008 elections
could not be conducted fairly due to high levels of torture and forced disappearances. We believe that the violence was state- sponsored, and in most cases they are sponsored by the state militia. We are seriously condemning this tomfoolery.

Furthermore, Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia would like to warn members of the police, Zimbabwe National Army, and prison officers to resist being compelled to vote for Zanupf thugocrats. We absolutely blame Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC )for completely failing to condemn public confessions among Zanupf officials that Mr Mnangagwa will continue to rule regardless of electoral results, which has energised counterfeit war veterans and poor Zanupf youths to provoke politically motivated violence. The defence minister Oppah Muchinguri made it clear that elections do not have any ritualistic aspect to transform Zimbabwe since Zanupf thugs will not give away power to the Yellow Marine astute leader President Advocate Nelson Chamisa even if he wins in 2023. This must be resisted with all the reserved energy and determination.

Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) Namibia also believes that the commission has failed to conduct it’s duties of regulating efficiently since it didn’t act on the bias, such as the censored state-run Herald newspaper, which they are required to exercise in their mandate.

The captured media is wholely one-sided and subjective in favour of Zanupf and the current president. We totally blame ZEC for publishing incorrect figures of registered voters, inciting racial, religious and political hatred among citizens. We also want to applaud Team paChedu for unearthing the shenanigans of the compromised Zimbabwe Electoral Commission who are busy transferring voters without their consent. This attempt to rig the will of the people shall be exposed and challenged before the by-elections in March.

In a nutshell, Citizens Coalition For Change Namibia urges all social democrats across the globe to put pressure on ZEC as a way of forcing ZEC to bring comprehensive political and electoral reforms. We should push for more registration centres and these must be accessible as well. It is unexpected that citizens struggle to register to vote in an independent country.

As a district, we encourage the downtrodden teachers, nurses, doctors and the rest of the civil service to take voting seriously. Usually, civil servants are deployed are polling officers and they are deliberately displaced from their polling stations as a result they are denied their fundamental right to vote. We reiterate that voting is part of independence! Civil servants should participate in voting so that they transfigure their livelihoods by voting for the change that delivers.#YellowSaturdayInGokwe.

Inside Fourth Chimurenga

By Stephen Sarkozy Chuma

President Chamisa Takes Fourth Chimurenga To Gokwe

26.02.2022

The People’s President and Commander of the Fourth Chimurenga, Advocate Nelson Chamisa today led from the front in Gokwe as people power once again reigned supreme over state machinery.

With the police barring the People’s President from addressing the citizens, President Chamisa pulled a first and still addressed the citizens through action.

A public appearance at Metro Peach Wholesalers by President Chamisa send citizens who looked dejected because of rally ban into wild frenzy.

All the citizens wanted was a glimpse of their man, but for strange reasons the police responded by throwing tear gas canisters and spraying citizens with poisoned water.

Much to his credit, the People’s President did not waver. He proceeded right through the tear smoke to address thousands of Gokwe citizens, not by words but through action.

Non verbal communication and non violent action was on display!

President Chamisa simply walked side by side with the citizens -no word but just waving his index fingers to which the citizens responded with ululation and jubilation.

Not even tear smoke could deter the Fourth Chimurenga battle at Gokwe Centre!

If there was any ounce of doubt from some Thomases about the readiness President Chamisa to govern, those doubts were put to bed today.

The President is ripe and ready to lead!

A New Great Zimbabwe is loading.

Zim High Commissioner To UK Leads In Repatriation Of Mbuya Nehanda Remains

BY DR MASIMBA MAVAZA | The Zimbabwe High Commissioner to the United Kingdom His Excellence Retired Colonel Christian Katsande has for the first time taken lead in the repatriation negotiations of the first Chimurenga Heroin and Heroes’ remains.

Ambassador Christian Katsande

United Kingdom is believed to have several remains of the first Chimurenga fighters. Of the remains there are remains of the first woman African army General Mbuya Nehanda Nyakasikana who was captured and hanged by the colonisers.

The story of her capture and murder exposes the sadistic demonic war crimes committed against the Africans by the British-in the 18th to 19th century. Mbuya Nehanda who led the first Chimurenga was captured and subjected to a unlawful hastily scrambled hearing in a court of injustice. She was convicted after a trial which she was not represented neither was she given an interpreter. She was then sentenced to death by hanging.

Mbuya Nehanda Sekuru Kaguvi Chingaira and several others were hanged. Their remains were not accorded the decent burial instead Nehanda was beheaded and he skull taken to England as a trophy. Mbuya Nehanda and here tools of war and her spiritual gadgets were shipped in a sack to England where she has been displayed in a museum ever since.
After behind the scenes high level discussions and sometimes heated discussions the UK has invited the Zimbabwean delegation led by Dr Mahachi director of Museums to come to the Uk and make arrangements for the repatriation.
Ambassador Katsande is leading the delegation which is in England to clear the way for the high powered delegation from Zimbabwe.
Whenever there is repatriation of remains Often there was a looting, this looting is in conjunction with war or armed political conflict. Repatriation claims for objects involved in this illegal trade of cultural property are especially difficult as proof must be established of the illicit extraction of the objects and thieves seldom document their work, especially in war zones. It is because of this that the repatriation has taken this long.

The British government has not been willing to let go of their loot. This is because the remains and artefacts looted symbolised shift of power from the defeated to the victors. Returning the loot will be a public acknowledgment of defeat. Further more repatriation is never easy, the British Museum Act, a law from 1963, prevents the museum in London from doing the same. The law does set out limited exceptions (such as if the object is a duplicate), but returning the loot of empire is not one of them. … In November 2020, a new law was passed to allow the return of 27 artefacts to former colonies. Zimbabwe has taken advantage of the new law to have the remains and all the loot back.

It is this task where Colonel Katsande is expected to balance his diplomatic skills and his military training.
For all the years Nehanda was displayed in a museum the British realised a lot of revenue.

The UK based Team leader for the repatriation committee Princess Eugine Majuru pointed out that “Artefacts are enriched by being viewed in their place of origin. They are part of the area’s history. These artefacts have been illegally procured. These artefacts are the foundation of a potential tourist trade.”
Defending their delay in releasing the remains Vand A director Tristan Hunt remarked
“Europe’s museums serve a nuanced purpose and shouldn’t automatically bow to calls to return artworks plundered by 19th-century colonisers”
One of the advocates for repatriation Mr Welcome Bhebhe asked “Looted colonial art: Is there the political will to return pilfered artifacts?
From African cultural treasures to artworks and even human remains, calls have been growing louder to return goods appropriated by colonial powers during their often brutal reigns across Africa. But is it mostly talk? While African nations have long demanded the restitution of poached cultural artifacts, in former colonial powers like France and Germany the debate has recently reached fever pitch as cultural and political figures make the case for repatriation.

Addressing a team which is doing the ground work in the UK ambassador Katsande said “Repatriation is about restoring dignity and making right the wrongs of the past.”Another panel member Professor George Shiri said “Repatriation is important as it shows respect for the dead, for cultural beliefs, and for the hurt that has been caused to source communities as a result of the development of science and museum collections.”
Comrade Tando Shambira who is a lawyer and an excombatant reminded the committee that
“Repatriation is the return of stolen or looted cultural materials to their countries of origin. Although a belief that looting cultural heritage is wrong and stolen objects should be returned to their rightful owners. Repatriation claims are based on law but, more importantly, represent a fervent desire to right a wrong—a kind of restorative justice—which also requires an admission of guilt and capitulation. This is what makes repatriations difficult: nations and institutions seldom concede that they were wrong.”
The repatriation of art and cultural objects is a popular topic in the news and there is a familiar list of arguments on either side of the debate. The primary arguments for repatriation, most frequently deployed by countries and peoples who want their objects back, are: It is morally correct, and reflects basic property laws, that stolen or looted property should be returned to its rightful owner.Cultural objects belong together with the cultures that created them; these objects are a crucial part of contemporary cultural and political identity. To not return objects stolen under colonialist regimes is to perpetuate colonialist ideologies that perceived colonized peoples as inherently inferior (and often “primitive” in some way).
• Museums with international collections, often called universal or encyclopedic museums, are located in the Global North: France, England, Germany, the US, places which are expensive to visit and therefore not somewhere most of the world can go to see art. It is precisely a colonial legacy that allowed so many “universal” museums to acquire the range of objects in their collection.
• Even if objects were originally acquired legally, our attitudes about the ownership of cultural property have changed and collections should reflect these contemporary attitudes.
On the other hand the colonisers advance very shameful arguments against repatriation, most frequently deployed by museums and collections which hold objects they don’t want to lose, are:
If all museums returned objects to their countries of origin, a lot of museums would be nearly empty.
Source countries do not have adequate facilities or personnel (because of poverty and/or armed conflict) to receive repatriated materials so objects are safer where they are now.
•Universal museums enable a lot of art from a lot of different places to be seen by a lot of people easily. This reflects our modern globalist or cosmopolitan outlook.
The ancient or historical kingdoms from which many objects originally came no longer exist or are spread across many contemporary national borders, such as those of the ancient Roman empire. Therefore, it’s not clear to where exactly objects should be repatriated.
•Returning cultural objects which were obtained under colonial regimes to their countries of origin does not make up for the destruction of colonialism.
•Most objects in museums and collections, at the time of their acquisition, were legally obtained and therefore have no reason to be repatriated.
The debate over repatriation engages powerful and personal sentiments of morality, patriotism, nationhood, and identity, and few people can talk about it without raising their voice. Regardless of this passion, however, the issue, ultimately, is a legal one and the international legal frameworks developed in the 20th century are what bring about repatriations. The first, which recognized the damage of warfare to property, was the 1907 Hague Convention, which forbade plundering of any kind during armed conflict, although it did not deal specifically with cultural property. The 1954 Hague Convention, however, in the wake of the widespread destruction of art during the Second World War, sought to expressly protect cultural property during armed conflict. The 1970 UNESCO Convention allowed for stolen objects to be seized if there was proof of ownership, followed by the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects, which calls for the return of illegally excavated and exported cultural property. Without these conventions and treaties, there would be no legal obligation for the return of anything.
The vast majority of repatriation cases derive from colonial or imperial subjugation. Throughout history, across the globe, powerful nations and empires have taken valuable objects, including cultural property, from those they have conquered and colonized. These objects of beauty and esteem number in the many millions and most will likely be lost to their former owners forever. However, the theft of a few especially valuable and/or important objects have proven unforgettable and the subject of frequent repatriation requests.

The looting of defeated peoples’ cultural heritage by war has been common practice since ancient times. In our situation the looting of art and remains was a series of confiscations of artworks and precious objects carried out by the British army or officials in Zimbabwe.

Woman Harrasses Hubby’s Baby Mama

By A Correspondent- An angry married woman has resorted to harassing her husband’s baby mama in a bid to force her to stop communicating with her partner.

Ritha Moyo (27) frequents Nosizi Dhewa’s workplace and has even opted to use violence to deter the 24-year-old from being in a relationship with her husband, Michael Ndlovu (38).

Nosizi said her reputation has been left in tatters because Ritha would embarrass her in the presence of her workmates.

Whenever they meet Ritha would manhandle her and punch her.

Nosizi said she had tried to talk to her via her aunt but all her efforts were in vain.

She applied for a protection order. In her founding affidavit she said: “My name is Nosizi. I was in a relationship with Michael Ndlovu and we have a child. Time after time I send him text messages or WhatsApp messages to request money for the upkeep of the child.

But his wife does not like that and she assumes we are still in love and she accuses me of communicating with her husband. She frequents my workplace and would insult me in the presence of my workmates. And whenever we meet she would assault me.” The presiding magistrate Ulukile Ndlovu granted Nosizi a peace order. Ritha was ordered to refrain from visiting, physically and verbally abusing Nosizi.

Chechnya Leader Tells Zelensky To Apologise To Putin

The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “to call Russian President Vladimir Putin and apologise”.

Addressing assembled servicemen in central Grozny, Kadyrov demanded that Ukrainian president Zelensky apologises to Putin. He said:

Taking this opportunity, I want to give advice to the current President Zelensky so that he calls our President, Supreme Commander Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, and apologizes for not doing so sooner.https://zero.pindula.co.zw/market/featured/?limit=4

Do it in order to save Ukraine. Ask for forgiveness and agree to all the conditions that Russia puts forward. This will be the most correct and patriotic step for him.

According to Russia Today, thousands of Chechens are willing to offer assistance to the Russian military.

On Friday, 12 000 local volunteers gathered on the central square of the regional capital, Grozny.

Kadyrov said the rally was organised in order to show their support for Russia and their readiness to aid its objectives.

He said no troops would be deployed until the “Supreme Commander in Chief” Putin gave the go-ahead.

Chechnya is a constituent republic of Russia situated in the North Caucasus in Eastern Europe, close to the Caspian Sea.

The country gained de facto independence as the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria following the First Chechen War of 1994–1996 with Russia.

However, Chechnya remained de jure a part of The Russian Federation.

Russia invaded Ukraine on Thursday, 24 February after Putin declared in a pre-dawn TV address that Russia could not feel “safe, develop and exist” because of the threat reportedly posed by its neighbour of 44 million people.

Butcheries Buying And Selling January Disease Infected Meat

By A Correspondent- Some butcheries in Mutare and Odzi are reportedly selling meat from cattle infected with suspected theileriosis, a tick-borne disease also known as January disease.

The Manica Post has established that villagers are selling their diseased cattle to butcheries at very low prices to avoid losing their beasts for nothing.

One of the affected villagers, Shupikai Mvurumutiya, revealed that farmers are selling their sick cattle for a maximum of US$50, while under normal circumstances, a bull is sold for US$300. Said the villager:https://zero.pindula.co.zw/market/featured/?limit=4

We have recorded unprecedented cattle deaths in our village over the last two weeks, and this weekend alone we recorded 20 deaths. The prospect of having the entire herd wiped out by the disease is scary.

As a result, butcheries from Odzi and Mutare have deployed runners in the village to buy and slaughter all the sick cattle for sale.

If they pay you US$50 for one beast, you can consider yourself lucky. It is an opportunity for them to make money and the farmers have no other option but to sell all the sick cattle. We can’t just watch them die.

The reported cattle sales and slaughter are being done without the mandatory permits from veterinary authorities and clearance from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Manicaland Provincial Veterinary Officer, Charles Guri, said it is illegal to sell meat that has not been examined and certified. Said Guri:

The slaughtering of sick cattle for commercial purposes is illegal. Such meat should not be sold to the public.

We have deployed our officers together with the police in the Mapembe area to get to the bottom of this scandal.

It has come to our attention that certain butcheries had deployed some runners in the affected villages to convince farmers to sell all their sick cattle for a song.

The cattle are being slaughtered without the required permits and clearance from the police, meaning they are breaking the law and must be brought to book.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said police were investigating the reports.-Manica Post

Heavy police Presence at CCC Gokwe Rally

By-There is a heavy police presence at the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) rally in Gokwe.

The rally is going on after the High court this morning ruled that the police should not disrupt it.

Lawyers representing CCC had filed an urgent application at the High Court after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) purportedly cancelled the rally.

According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), CCC officials received a call on Friday requesting them to cancel their rally because President Emmerson Mnangagwa has his own rally in Kwekwe, 143 km away.

In court, ZRP accused CCC of lying that they had banned the opposition party rally saying “maybe, they’re no longer interested in proceeding with their own rally”.

ZLHR reported ZRP as saying they don’t even know anyone by the name Muza who purportedly called CCC banning the rally within its rank and file.

Justice Sylvia Chirau, Saturday morning made a finding that there is no proof that the rally has been cancelled by ZRP or is likely to be cancelled.

The Judge stated that what she has is “proof that the police have authorised the rally… that authorisation has not been withdrawn or cancelled. That authorisation remains extant”.

ZRP approved the CCC rally in a letter written by ZRP Officer-In-Charge Gokwe District, Chief Superintendent Chikono, addressed to the party’s Organising Secretary in Gokwe Central Constituency, Agnes Limbani Jumo.

The letter, dated 22 February, read in part:

It is your submission that you intend to conduct a by-election campaign launch rally at Open Space opposite Runganga Service Station, Gokwe South on the 26th day of February 2022 from 1000 hours to 1700 hours.

Your notification has been noted and this office does not have any reservations subject to the following;

a) You adhere to the stated date and times.

b) You ensure that you stick to the notified venue and avoid breaching public peace or interfering with the normal life or movement of other citizens.

c) No processions or toyi-toyi to be done before, during or after the rally.

d) Should you wish to make any changes, you shall have to re-notify.

e) The provisions of Section 7 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act, Chapter 11:23 will be evoked if any of the conditions are violated.

f) You ensure that all proceedings are done within the confines of your mandate.

g) You adhere with due regards to the COVID-19 guidelines and ensure the gathering is not more than one hundred people and subjected to properly wearing of face masks, use of sanitisers, temperature screening and observing the social distancing.

Mavaza Says: CCC Must Get Lessons From Ukraine

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told Ukrainian troops “you are all we have” as he accused European countries of an insufficient reaction to the Russian invasion.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

The Russian invasion will upend the lives of 44 million Ukrainians. But the relevance of Ukraine, on the edge of Europe and thousands of miles from the United States, extends far beyond its borders. Its fate has huge implications for the rest of Europe, the health of the global economy and America’s place in the world.
The problems in Ukraine came to naught in February 2014, after a decade of increasingly destabilizing political confrontations, Ukrainian nationalists ousted the Russian-supported Ukrainian government in what became known as the Maidan Revolution. Russian annexation of Crimea and covert support for “Ukrainian Russian Separatists” in the Eastern Oblasts of Ukraine soon followed. Nine months later, the Russian military intervened overtly in support of the Ukrainian Separatist forces.

The conflict has settled into a large, complex example of Hybrid (or Russian New Generation) warfare in a context reminiscent of static military operations during World War One.

We must then be alive to the lessons emerging from Ukraine which has been strong from the conflict’s beginning. While some of these efforts are wide ranging, they can generally be clustered in two categories: geo-political and tactical/technical. If, as some have argued, the conflict in Ukraine represents a 21st-century version of the Boer War or the Spanish Civil War—where emerging military technologies and concepts were employed in a nascent form but pointed the way toward a disruptive future—then much more needs to be done to develop lessons in the broad middle.

Before the invasion of Ukraine by Russia NATO led by America made outrageous promises to Ukraine and its people. America promised undying love and that they will pour in Ukraine like the Tsunami to support and help the people of Ukraine against Russia.

Learning lessons from these kinds of conflicts requires an integrated approach. Direct lessons applicable to current capabilities are often obscured by the particular economic, political, and social characteristics of the participants. Recent efforts by the Military Services (particularly the US Army) to collect lessons in Ukraine are notable but generally narrow in both subject and application.

Projecting these lessons into the future and more importantly, into conflicts of a different character from the one being examined, requires a different approach.
Ukraine has learnt it the hard way. After being urged on at the end of the day there was no Europe to help no America only Russia. This prompted the president of Ukraine to say to his army “you are all that we have.”

Many African opposition parties live in a dream. They are promised help once they remove their governments. Zimbabwe opposition parties have been pure puppets of the West but the West are not to be trusted if you do not believe look at Ukraine now. This is a great lesson for Chamisa and other opposition members. The money which Chamisa is boasting about is in the hands of the Western sponsors. As a people Zimbabweans must learn from the situation in Ukraine. Do not trust those who just promised you. You only have one country take a good care of it.

Why might Russia, the United States and Europe care so much about Ukraine? It felt in recent weeks like a scene from the Cold War, a perilous episode from a bygone era. An unpredictable Russian leader was amassing troops and tanks on a neighbor’s border. There was fear of a bloody East-West conflagration. Ukraine was urged on by the West but was the West there to the end. Then the Cold War turned hot: Vladimir Putin has sent his forces over the border into Ukraine, with repercussions that were immediate and far-reaching.In the days ahead of the invasion, even as Russian forces reached an estimated strength of 190,000 and they formed a pincer around Ukrainian territory, and even as the United States warned in increasingly dire tones that a military strike appeared inevitable, there was hope. Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president, kept up his message of optimism. Mr. Putin was claiming that he was open to diplomacy, and European leaders were working desperately to persuade the Kremlin to stand down.

Ukraine took comfort from the promises of the West. Then just before 6 a.m. Thursday, the Russian president, addressing his nation, declared the start of a “special military operation” in Ukraine. The goal, he said, was to “demilitarize” but not occupy the country.Mere minutes later, large explosions were visible near Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, and blasts were reported in Kyiv, the capital, as well as other parts of the country. And soon, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reported that Russian troops had landed in Odessa and were crossing the border.
The invasion threatens to destabilize the already volatile post-Soviet region, with serious consequences for the security structure that has governed Europe since the 1990s.

President Putin has long lamented the loss of Ukraine and other republics when the Soviet Union broke apart, but diminishing NATO, the military alliance that helped keep the Soviets in check, may be his real mission. Before invading, Russia made a list of far-reaching demands to reshape that structure — positions NATO and the United States rejected. After the Soviet Union collapsed, NATO expanded eastward, eventually taking in most of the European nations that had been in the Communist sphere.

The Baltic republics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, once parts of the Soviet Union, joined NATO, as did Poland, Romania and others. As a result, NATO moved hundreds of miles closer to Moscow, directly bordering Russia. And in 2008, it stated that it planned — some day — to enroll Ukraine, though that is still seen as a far-off prospect.Mr. Putin has described the Soviet disintegration as a catastrophe that robbed Russia of its rightful place among the world’s great powers and put it at the mercy of a predatory West. He has spent his 22 years in power rebuilding Russia’s military and reasserting its geopolitical clout.

The Russian president calls NATO’s expansion menacing, and the prospect of Ukraine joining it a major threat to his country. As Russia has grown more assertive and stronger militarily, his complaints about NATO have grown more strident. He has repeatedly invoked the specter of American ballistic missiles and combat forces in Ukraine, though U.S., Ukrainian and NATO officials insist there are none.

Mr. Putin has also insisted that Ukraine and Belarus are fundamentally parts of Russia, culturally and historically. He holds considerable sway over Belarus, and talks about some form of reunification with Russia have gone on for years. But East-West relations worsened drastically in early 2014, when mass protests in Ukraine forced out a president closely allied with Mr. Putin. Russia swiftly invaded and annexed Crimea, part of Ukraine. Moscow also fomented a separatist rebellion that took control of part of the Donbas region of Ukraine, in a war that still grinds on, having killed more than 13,000 people.

The West insisted that President Putin appears intent on winding back the clock more than 30 years, establishing a broad, Russian-dominated security zone resembling the power Moscow wielded in Soviet days. Now 69 years old and possibly edging toward the twilight of his political career, he clearly wants to draw Ukraine, a nation of 44 million people, back into Russia’s orbit.

The problem of having a nation stronger than the other creates bullies. Russia is not the only Bully here. America has attacked many countries at will and deposed several governments according them “in the interest of America.” So is Russia not allowed to act to protect their interest.

Ukraine under American influence is a security threat to Russia and a preemptive action is in the best interest of Russia.

Russia presented NATO and the United States in December with a set of written demands that it said were needed to ensure its security. Foremost among them are a guarantee that Ukraine would never join NATO, that NATO draw down its forces in the Eastern European countries that have already joined, and that the 2015 cease-fire in Ukraine be implemented — though Moscow and Kyiv disagree sharply on what that would mean.

The West dismissed the main demands out of hand, while making overtures on other concerns, and threatening sanctions. Moscow’s aggressive posture has also inflamed Ukrainian nationalism, with citizen militias preparing for a drawn-out guerrilla campaign in the event of a Russian occupation.Mr. Putin’s timing could also be related to the transition from President Donald J. Trump, who was notably friendly to him and disparaging of NATO, to President Biden, who is committed to the alliance and distrustful of the Kremlin. He may also want to energize nationalists at home by focusing on an external threat, as he has in the past.

As the war continues with Ukraine about to capitulate the West is in closed doors offering lip service.
The best lesson for all is do not trust foreign leaders to help in your domestic issues. The faster Chamisa realises this the better.
This idea of putting your trust in foreign countries only destroys your country.

Looking at Ukraine now it is the people of Ukraine who are paying with their blood. We only have one country let us love it.

Mnangagwa Lies About Title Deeds

BY- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ lied about giving title deeds to thousands of informal settlers in and around Harare.

His Justice minister and leader of government business Ziyambi Ziyambi exposed the propaganda lies in Parliament Ziyambi Ziyambi on Thursday.

Ziyambi said the title deeds would be given to certain people, for example, Glen View residents who were allocated residential stands by Abel Muzorewa’s Zimbabwe-Rhodesia government in 1979.

About three weeks ago, Mnangagwa promised to formalise all informal settlers and give the residents title deeds.

He made the pledge just before he launched the ZANU PF campaign for the 26 March by-elections in Epworth, but critics dismissed the decision as mere politicking.

Before the rally, ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa had announced that 80 000 title deeds would be given out at the rally.

Addressing thousands of residents who attended the rally, but came back empty-handed, Mnangagwa said:

After having seen the situation in Epworth and Harare South, we sat down and decided those who are living in informal settlements should get title deeds.

We have finished the mapping process of Harare South and Epworth. Unfortunately, we cannot give anyone title deeds at this rally as it needs planning.

Meanwhile, Ziyambi, who is also the Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs minister, said the people who will benefit are those who were settled in Glen View 43 years ago. He said:

It is not a call for people to go and invade open spaces, but to say that those that have been in certain areas, for instance, Glen View.

Some of them were settled there in 1979 during the (Abel) Muzorewa era and they do not have title deeds up to now.

This is an exercise to ensure that we regularise and ensure that all those people who occupy houses have title to the piece of land that belongs to them.

… The government is undertaking this project fully aware of what is required of it and the number of households that we need to issue with title deeds.

Ziyambi added that the Government is looking at case by case and merits and wouldn’t want to encourage people to go and build where they have not been allocated.

Energy and Power Development minister Soda Zhemu told parliamentarians that his ministry will not waste public resources to electrify settlements that are not regularised.

Land barons with links to ZANU PF have in the past been accused of illegally selling housing stands to desperate home seekers.

By- Seven people have drowned during this rainy season while trying to cross the flooded Runde River.

Three people, including a three-year-old baby, died after the Toyota Hilux car they were travelling in was swept away by the flooded Runde River at Chilonga Bridge this Monday.

The vehicle that was travelling to Chilonga business centre from Chiredzi had ten passengers on board. Said a villager:
This accident is not sitting well with us. We have many unanswered questions because this bridge is slowly turning into a death snare that people are just dying here. So far seven have died during this rainy season and it’s troubling us.

ZEC Voters’ Roll Littered With Ghost Voters

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, ZEC has brewed another shocker after its voters’ roll has revealed that there were 3 253 people aged more than 100 years.

Eleven (11) of those are older than the oldest surviving person in the world on record, Japanese Kane Tanaka, who turned 119 on January 2.

ZEC chief elections officer (CEO) Utoile Silaigwana was not picking up calls for clarification.

A total of 3112 people are aged between 101 and 110 years while 130 are between 111 and 120.

Meanwhile, ZEC has been so far failed to explain voters roll anomalies identified by online pressure group Team Pachedu over the past weeks.

It claimed that thecommission had redirected 170 000 voters from their registered polling stations to those outside their constituency and or wards, some as far as 100km apart.

Team Pachedu also highlighted questionable registration patterns including hundreds of residents of Chinotimba who share the same house voting in different wards.

ZEC dismissed the allegations as malice.

The will in question had no signature of the deceased, neither was it dated.

Among other things, the will bequeathed Ginimbi’s Lamborghini to one of his friends identified as Kit-Kat.

Justice Amy Tsanga nullified the will as dubious and relieved the executor Patricia Darangwa of her duties citing irregularities.

It later turned out that Kit-Kat was one Nomatter Zinyengere, also Nomatter Zinyengerere, while Darangwa became an executor to an estate where she was also benefiting.

The Master of High Court had accepted the will but the Kadungure family members, Ginimbi’s sisters — Juliet and Neria together with their father Anderson, opposed the move.

They sought a review of the Master of High Court’s decision to accept the will as well as the appointment of Darangwa as executor.

Darangwa, the Master of High Court and Kit Kat were listed as respondents in the review application.

Justice Tsanga ruled in favour of the Kadungure family.

She declared that Ginimbi died intestate and his family can inherit it. She said:

In the circumstances, the late Genius Kadungure popularly known as Ginimbi, indeed died intestate.

This is not a bad thing, his family gets to inherit. It is hereby declared that:

The document registered with the second respondent (Master) on November 25 2020 under DRNumber 1771/20 as the will of the late Genuis Kadungure who died on November 8 2020, is null and void.

The judge ruled that the Master of High Court shall convene another meeting to appoint an executor.

The nullified will showed that Ginimbi owned a mansion in Domboshava, a company called Infinity Gas, an undisclosed fleet of vehicles and several other companies.

Ginimbi died on the spot in the wee hours on 8 November 2020 along Liberation Legacy Way in Harare when his speeding Rolls Royce collided head-on with a Honda Fit and veered off the road.

He was with two foreign friends, Limumba Karim of Malawi and Alishia, a Mozambican, as well as a friend, Mitchelle “Moana” Amuli.

All four occupants of the Rolls Royce died on the spot.

Mnangagwa-Son-In-Law Accuses FIFA Of Protecting Sex Predators

Gerald Mlotshwa

State Media -The battle of wits between the Sports and Recreation Commission and the world football governing body, Fifa seems likely to be a long, bruising fight for football.
And that Fifa have banned Zifa from all football activities with immediate effect, does not appear to deter the Gerald Mlotshwa-led SRC’s battle to rid local football of Felton Kamambo and his board.

Fifa cited the violation of its Statutes, particularly Article 14 (Paragraph 1i) and Article 16 (Paragraph 1) after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended the Zifa executive committee late last year.

Fifa secretary-general Fatma Samoura said the suspension will remain in force until the Kamambo-led board is allowed to return to office without any conditions and that the SRC should immediately repeal a number of decisions it had taken against Zifa and its officials.

However, Mlotshwa remains adamant in the face of the suspension, arguing that the SRC was acting in the interest of local football. The SRC supremo says the sports regulatory body was not moved by the suspension and will not act in accordance with the demands of the world governing body.

FIFA has banned Zimbabwean football from all international competitions for government interference in the running of the game after the SRC suspended the Zifa administration for several violations, chief among them failure to account for public funds.

Having threatened to sanction Zimbabwean football since December last year, Fifa finally did so and ordered that Kamambo and company be reinstated for the ban to be lifted a scenario Mlotshwa insists that will not happen.

The SRC statement reads: “Correspondence from FIFA, dated the 24th instant, addressed to the suspended ZIFA General Secretary purporting to suspend the Country’s national football association as a member of the FIFA ‘family’ is noted. In essence, it appears that FIFA is constrained by the provisions of its own statutes to protect certain of the undoubted sexual predators, fraudsters and corrupt administrators at the helm of football administration in Zimbabwe.

All this in the name of shielding ZIFA from, to quote FIFA in its letter “… undue interference from a third party”. It is a fact that some of these administrators are facing, inter alia, charges of sexual harassment, bribery, fraud and general corruption before Zimbabwe’s Courts. FIFA has the full details of these matters.”

“The instances of fraud and corruption within the corridors of ZIFA have also been brought to the attention of FIFA, who have placed on record their extreme reluctance to involve themselves in remedying this deplorable state of affairs,” the statemen continues.

“FIFA statutes are not a part of the laws of Zimbabwe. Conversely, ZIFA, and indeed all other national sports associations in the country, are subject to the laws of Zimbabwe. It is for this reason that they, and their respective constitutions, are registered with the SRC. FIFA recognizes ZIFA as the sole governing body for football administration in Zimbabwe by virtue of its registration with the SRC. It is on this basis that it is admitted as a member of the “FIFA Family” by FIFA. -Sunday Mail

Ukraine Zimbabweans Scream For Help

Some Zimbabwean students at Vinnytsia in Ukraine say they are now “stuck” in that country after they were told by university authorities to shelter in place following the deteriorating security situation in the country.

The students say some colleagues have left the campus and are on their way to Poland where they are expected to buy air tickets and return home.

Laison Kyle Moyo, a fourth-year medical student at Vinniytsia National Medical University, told VOA Zimbabwe Service that local authorities have urged them to seek shelter due to fierce fighting between Russian and Ukranian security forces.

“We have received information that we must stay here in Vinnytsia where the situation has been calm all along. We are worried about what’s going on. We haven’t seen any shellings or bombings but people are really worried about what’s going to happen.

“Some students are also on their way to Poland but are stuck at the border due to traffic jams at the border post. We hope the situation will improve and the students will leave for Poland.”

Some Zimbabweans living in Berlin have teamed up to help stranded students in Berlin through providing transport from various parts of the country.-VOA

I Have No Intention To Join Zanu PF, Says Tsenengamu

Former Zanu PF national youth league political Commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu has claimed that he has turned down numerous invites to rejoin the ruling party .

The firebrand politician told NewsDay Weekender that he would never rejoin Zanu PF.

“I have no intentions to rejoin Zanu PF and that is why I went ahead with others to form a new party, the Front for Economic Emancipation in Zimbabwe,” Tsenengamu said.

“I have lost count of the invitations that came for me to rejoin Zanu PF, but I have repeatedly told them that I was not going to because I now know that the problem is not just with the individual at the helm, but the whole party system.”

Zanu PF national youth league boss Tendai Chirau yesterday described Tsenengamu as “a nonentity”.

“He is sounding emotional. There are high-profile Zanu PF officials who left the party and their absence was not felt. Zanu PF is a big party and it accommodates everyone. If he wants to come back to the party, he knows all the procedures to be followed,” Chirau said.

Tsenengamu fell out of favour with Zanu PF bigwigs after accusing them of corruption.

On Sunday, he attended a Citizens Coalition for Change rally at Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfield, Harare, where he pledged allegiance to the opposition party.

The move triggered a barrage of attacks from Zanu PF officials who described him as “power hungry”.

Ukraine, Russia Gun Battle: President Chamisa Calls For Peace

Tinashe Sambiri|Citizens’ Coalition For Change leader President Nelson Chamisa says the war in Ukraine is unnecessary and catastrophic.

According to President Chamisa, war is associated with bloodshed and destruction of infrastructure such that it should be avoided.

See full statement below:

Today the world woke up to grave news of war in Ukraine.

This is a sad day for humanity. War is bloodshed, misery & great suffering.

In all this, women, children & ordinary citizens are the most vulnerable victims. Peace is fragile and it must be jealously guarded at all times.

Humanity has made great progress over the decades, but we are reminded once again of our capacity for self destruction.

Its not as if the world has a shortage of problems.

It’s utterly uncalled for to start a war when the world is battling a deadly pandemic & climate change.

Only yesterday, the African Union championed the theme of Silencing the Guns.

The message could not be more appropriate at this time.We urge all the actors to give dialogue a chance.

After all, guns and missiles are ultimately silenced by dialogue and diplomacy.

We subscribe to and support the principles of territorial sovereignty, equality of states, non-intervention and state consent.

In this regard, it is absolutely vital to respect and honour the sovereignty of every nation state regardless of size or any other factor.

About Air Pollution And Health

Beitbridge Man Catches Wife Pants Down

By-A man from Beitbridge who came home unexpectedly got the shock of his life after he caught his wife dishing out s-x to another man in their matrimonial bedroom.

Edmore Mapfumo from Bhalanganani village, Tsetana area under Chief Matibe in Beitbridge East couldn’t believe his eyes when he busted his wife Linda Mbedzi between the sheets with her alleged lover, Maludzo Sibanda.
The incident happened a fortnight ago.
Before Mapfumo threw a flurry of punches at him, Sibanda, who is a farmer, reportedly bolted out of the house stark naked, leaving behind his clothes and motorcycle.
According to a source from the area who spoke to B-Metro, Mapfumo later took Sibanda’s clothes and motorcycle and surrendered them at Chasvingo Police Station.
The source said the illicit affair had been going on for some time and on the day Mapfumo busted them he worked on a tip-off.
“On the day Mapfumo caught his wife indulging in sex with Maludzo Sibanda he came home unannounced.
This was after he had been tipped by some villagers that during his absence Sibanda was always visiting his homestead at odd hours.
After he caught them, Sibanda bolted out of the house stark naked leaving behind his clothes and motorcycle.
“Mapfumo later took the property to Chasvingo Police Station where he used it as an exhibit that he had caught Sibanda in the act with his wife in his matrimonial bedroom,” said the source who asked not to be named.
A heartbroken Mapfumo who was apparently not ready to walk away from his cheating wife, approached Headman Tsetana where he hoped his adversary would face justice for disrespecting him.
Appearing before Headman Tsetana’s traditional court, Sibanda didn’t dispute the allegations that he was having an affair with Mapfumo’s wife.
Headman Tsetana subsequently fined Sibanda two beasts and he also ordered him to pay R4 100 being expenses incurred by Mapfumo while suing him.
Although all the parties involved in the love triangle were unavailable at the time of writing the story, Headman Tsetana confirmed the incident saying Sibanda is yet to pay the fine.
“It’s true and when the parties came before my traditional court Sibanda didn’t dispute the accusations that he was caught bedding Mapfumo’s wife.
Following his admission, I ordered him to pay two beasts and R4 100 being the money Mapfumo claimed he incurred while suing Sibanda,” said Headman Tsetana.

192 Years Plus Life Jail For 28 SA Based Zimbo

By- A 28-year-old Zimbabwean national has been handed six life terms and 192 years behind bars by the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria for a string of crimes.

Wellington Kachidza pleaded guilty to 34 counts – six counts of murder, three counts of rape, eight counts of kidnapping, eight counts of extortion, eight counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and being in the country illegally.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Kachidza’s crime spree took place in Pretoria, between January 2018 and December 2019.

Kachidza’s murder victims were men whom he’d lure under the guise of seeking assistance with driving before kidnapping them and demanding ransom money from their families. He would then kill the men after the monies were paid.

The reported cause of death based on post-mortem for the victims was head injury or trauma to the head. Said NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana:

With the three female victims, he pretended to be offering employment opportunities, he would lure them to a close-by bush or veld, rape them and rob them of their belongings and walk away. Kachidza was arrested on the 15 of January 2020, based on an intelligence-driven operation and was later linked by DNA evidence to the rape counts. He has been in custody since his arrest.

The lead prosecutor in Wellington Kachidza’s case, Prosecutor Adv. Pieter Coetzer argued in court, that the motive behind his crimes was pure greed – and that his evil deeds have had a severe impact, particularly on his rape victims and the families of the men he murdered.

Ghosts And Centurians On ZEC Voters’ Roll

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, ZEC has brewed another shocker after its voters’ roll has revealed that there were 3 253 people aged 100 years or more.

It claimed that the commission had redirected 170 000 voters  from their registered polling stations to those outside their constituency and or wards, some as far as 100km apart.

Team Pachedu also highlighted questionable registration patterns including hundreds of residents of Chinotimba who share the same house voting in different wards.

ZEC dismissed the allegations as malice.

Putin Displaces Ukraine Based South African & Zim Students

By- A group of South African students and Zimbabwean pursuing their studies in Ukraine have been forced to hide in a subway and take cover as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues.

The invasion has also forced Ukrainians to flee their homes.
The invasion of Ukraine has left the students stranded as air travel, and public transportation is brought to a halt.

While the South African Embassy tries to make visas for the South African students to move to other countries, getting them out of Ukraine will be a challenge as there is no transport available.

The students are desperate to come back home as the Russian invasion has begun and violent explosions keep going on. The students went to study medicine in universities in Ukraine; this is a decision they regret as they are now desperate to come back home.

The violent invasion which began on Thursday after the Russian president ordered Russia to invade Ukraine, has left South African students stranded and fearing for their lives. Among the stranded students is Vutlhari Mtonga, who comes from Tzaneen Limpopo. Mtonga is a medical student who is currently in Kharkiv. She says loud explosions and shelling woke them up on Thursday morning.
“We were told to evacuate our homes, and we are currently in a subway to keep us safe. We have heard explosions, but we do not have a clear instruction or direction on where we should go.” Clayson Monyela, Department of International Relations and Co-operation spokesperson tried to assure the students in Ukraine that the Embassy will not evacuate and leave fellow South Africans behind. Monyela further said the students are not stranded, which is a statement that contradicts the students who are trapped in the subway.

Yesterday, the Office of the President and Cabinet sent condolence messages to the families of the bereaved and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
“The office wishes to express its deepest, heartfelt condolences to families of the deceased who are being reached over the accident.
“In the same vein, the office wishes the two injured speedy recovery,” said the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda in a statement.
A witness who declined to be named, said the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve.
“I was waiting for transport at a bus station when I saw this truck passing.
“The driver was speeding and this made it difficult for him to negotiate the sharp curves in this area,” he said.
One of the people who arrived at the crash site early, Mrs Sarah Mukwekwe, said she was awakened by a loud bang.
“I live near the Tangwena turn off and I heard a bang. When I went outside the house to investigate, I saw the lorry meandering before hitting a trailer of a commuter omnibus which was travelling in the opposite direction. It then overturned. This is an accident zone and every week or after every two weeks an accident occurs here.
“Last week one man died while he was cycling and got hit buy a driver who failed to negotiate a curve. We humbly plead with the authorities to install barricades,” she said.
Mrs Regina Mautsa said she was alerted of the accident by her children who were preparing for school.
“When we arrived at the accident scene, people were trying to remove one person who was crying out for help underneath the truck. We then brought a tractor which pulled the truck and managed to rescue him before he was rushed to hospital,” she said.
Mr Lovemore Mhandu said he was about 40 metres from the crash site when tragedy struck.

“When I arrived, the vehicle had overturned and we sought to ways to assist the people. Unfortunately, four had already died. We later rescheduled the one who was crying under the vehicle.
“He was in a stable condition though he was in a state of shock calling out the names of his colleagues who had died. Personally, I urge drivers to exercise caution because there are sharp curves and if one is speeding, surely there will be consequences,” he said.
Mrs Felistus Matsiwira said; “My son told me that smoke was billowing and a truck had fallen, prompting me to run to the scene. When I went with another villager to investigate, I saw someone rolling in the thorns and was about to get into the river and we rushed to assist him.
“He was alive, but seriously injured. We are not sure if he jumped from the moving truck or he was thrown out by impact. Had we not seen him, he might have drowned. We then put him into a car together with the one who was trapped and was rushed to Regina Coeli Mission hospital.”
Mr Masimba Fombe from Mukwekwe Village gave his own version of events.
“I was at the turn-off and a kombi had stopped on its way from Nyamaropa. I just saw the truck descending the slope at high speed and hit the trailer of the kombi before meandering and over turned,” he said.
Police Superintendent Crispen Makavanga urged motorists to exercise caution.
“Around 0600hrs we received information that there was a tragic accident that occurred along Nyanga-Ruwangwe Road. We reacted and arrived on the scene where we discovered that a 7-tonne truck had overturned.
“We managed to retrieve four bodies. Two were alive and were sent to Regina Hospital. As ZRP we urge motorists to exercise caution at all times. This stretch has sharp curves and drivers should exercise extreme caution,” he said.
Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Nokhuthula Matsikenyere fought off tears as she expressed grief over the accident.
“As Manicaland, we were excited that our mother had come to spend time with us because when the First Lady comes, we are always happy as she comes to teach us and give us whatever she would have brought for her children. We were expecting this to be a day of happiness.
“This accident pained us. We have lost four children. We know this area is an accident zone but we were not expecting this. We send condolences to the bereaved families,” she said. Herald

South African & Zim Students Trapped In Ukraine

Implications Of FIFA Ban

FIFA announced sanctions against Zimbabwe on Thursday following government interference in the running of the game.

The country was banned from international football along with Kenya.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed the sanctions at a press conference, saying: “We had to suspend two of our member associations; Kenya and Zimbabwe for government interference in the activities of the football associations.”

“So the football associations are suspended from all football activities with immediate effect and they know what needs to be done before they are re-admitted,” he added.

Infantino wants the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) to reinstate the suspended Felton Kamambo-led Zifa board.

What the FIFA sanctions mean to Zimbabwe football

FIFA raised the charges in accordance with article 13 of the FIFA Statutes, meaning ZIFA has lost all its membership rights.

The country’s national teams will no longer be allowed to participate in any international activities and games until the suspension on the administration is lifted.

The association or any of its members or officials will no longer benefit from any development programmes, courses or training from FIFA and/or CAF, while funding has also been cut.

However, the domestic league may continue but clubs will not be allowed to play in the CAF Champions League, the Confederation Cup or any other FIFA/CAF sanctioned tournament.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Air Pollution And Pulmonary Diseases

UEFA Moves Champions League Final From Russia To France

UEFA has selected Paris to host the 2022 Champions League final after deciding to move the blockbuster match away from St Petersburg. The governing body has changed venues for the biggest event on the club football calendar amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The final was scheduled to be played at the Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg – an impressive stadium built for the 2018 World Cup.

But Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has shocked millions, with 137 Ukrainians – soldiers and civilians – confirmed dead after the first day of conflict.

And amid the worrying friction, UEFA has stripped the former of the honour of hosting the elite event, with the French capital a worthy replacement.

Following a UEFA Executive Committee meeting on Friday, UEFA has confirmed the May 28 Champions League showcase will take place at the Stade de France.

statement read: “The UEFA Executive Committee today held an extraordinary meeting following the grave escalation of the security situation in Europe.

BREAKING: ED PUTIN CHIMURENGA PIC CRAZE: Mnangagwa Wasn’t Even A Soldier, At Any Time

Contrary to a viral picture falsely ascribed to Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vladimir Putin in 1973, the ZANU PF coupist was not at all a soldier, he was a johny-come late, an elite who usurped the struggle way later, at the end of the war, a top war veteran reveals in an account that’s remained unchallenged for over 2 years.

War Vet Cde Karen Kazingizi reveals this saying- “After studying law, he was also recruited by Robert Mugabe, to replace those who were fighting the war.

“When the war finished, when Mugabe had ended the war, the people who had elected him to lead them from the Mgagao Declaration, he had chopped them all off, all of them the Gamatox and other factions without number. He kicked all of them out accusing them of betraying the struggle. You know, we don’t want to end up telling the truth, but I think the youth deserve to know the truth.”

This picture published as if it is partly of Emmerson Mnangagwa and photographed with a man purported to be Vladimir Putin in 1973, is false and misleading. Mnangagwa was in a prison at the time, and even assuming it was him, Mnangagwa would never have been tore to tore with President Samora Machel. According to several eye witnesses, Mnangagwa was not even a soldier, at any time. Mnangagwa was a briefcase handler for Robert Mugabe who popped out from Zambia later in 1977 and suddenly got lined up for leadership. War Veteran, Cde Karen Kazingizi’s witness of who Mnangagwa was during the war is the latest most authoritative description on his role during the war of liberation of which the man is seen as an elite only roped in by Mugabe to lead genuine freedom fighters who risked their lives for 16 years. Another lie is the claim that Mnangagwa was a crocodile gang leader. He has only recently this year revealed that this was never the case, it was just a nickname given him. At the Nov 2017 coup, Mnangagwa made false claims to have survived a poison attack, when he had just pulled a prank in order to win public favour against his enemies.

Mr. Mnangagwa’s own nephew, Lloyd Msipa said this picture is fake news.

Mnangagwa was nowhere near the front in 1973.
He was in Salisbury prison.

Vladimir Putin was a young University student studying law in 1973.
He graduated in 1975.

His first mission outside Russia only came after he joined the KGB in 1975.

“Strengthen Covid-19 Surveillance”: WCoZ

We note with concern the increase in COVID-19 infections in schools, particularly 13 cases from Masvingo province, two from Matabeleland North, and one from Manicaland.

We note that these worrying developments are taking place barely two weeks after schools reopened.

We continue to highlight the need to prioritise the safety of learners, teachers and support staff by minimising the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

We urge strengthening of COVID-19 surveillance in schools and tertiary institutions.

We also urge strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines and protocols in educational institutions, which includes regular fumigation of school premises and buses which ferry pupils and staff.

We call upon government to improve the provision of water and sanitation infrastructure and services to schools across the country.

We call upon government to ensure effective provision of masks and other personal protective equipment to schools and the education sector as a whole.

Experts Blast ED Admin For Destroying The Education Sector

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe’s education system, a source of pride for citizens and envy of many across the continent under the late former President Robert Mugabe, is now on a downward spiral seeking urgent intervention.

The drastic drop in the quality of education is mirrored in the state of the economy and a deterioration of the standards of living for the majority of Zimbabweans.

This has resulted in a massive exportation of high quality human capital to other countries across the globe.

Education experts are also accusing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration of ignoring the critical sector, destroying a legacy built over decades including during the colonial era.

Decades of economic downturn, maladministration, corruption, neglect and poor funding has seen Zimbabwe’s education sector once considered the best in Africa facing a dramatic decline in standards over the years.

The situation, coupled with serious brain drain, poor remuneration for teachers, perennial job action, obsolete infrastructure and equipment as well as the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic has left the sector on the throes of death.

Speaking in various interviews, academics and experts painted a gloomy picture of Zimbabwe’s education system calling on the government to take urgent action against the rot.

They noted that Zimbabwe’s future generations risk a bleak future where their qualifications – academic and vocational – will never be recognised across the world.

Former education minister during the Government of National Unity (GNU), David Coltart said although the sector remained one of the best in Africa, it faced a difficult future after years of decline.

He called for a radical mind shift to restore the sector.

“Mnangagwa has appointed a succession of ministers who, quite frankly, have little interest in education. It is clear that it is not a priority of his government.

“Overall, we have seen a dramatic decline in the education sector since the advent of the Mnangagwa government. Robert Mugabe was a teacher himself and he understood the importance of education,” Coltart said.

Mugabe, Coltart said, did what he could to ensure that the education system was adequately funded.

“Mnangagwa, in my view, does not have the same appreciation for education or the understanding that Mugabe had,” he added.

Coltart said there is no doubt that the education system has been seriously undermined in the last 15 to 20 years by strikes coupled by a mass exodus of teachers during the period 2007-2009.

Many teachers went to South Africa and never came back which decimated the education system that had for decades been touted as the best on the continent.

Approximately, 20 000 teachers deserted the profession for other jobs during the period.

The former minister said teachers were paid starvation wages that have triggered job action and lower output.

Coltart, however, criticised Mugabe for focusing mainly on academic education.

“The colonialists had a very good system of vocational, practical education that Mugabe did not and that was undermined in the 1980s heavily criticised by educationists at the time. In fact, that was the focus of the Nziramasanga Report published in 1999 which established that there was a serious imbalance,” he said.

The Nziramasanga, in part, recommended the promotion of practical skills in primary school, introduction of vocational education at that stage followed by same training in secondary schools.

This, according to the report, would lead to a range of qualifications in different occupation areas – professional, academic, practical and technical.

Coltart said the sector also lacked investment, progressively and in real terms, in the 1990s and 2000s, when Zimbabwe ceased getting international aid making the situation dire.

Education deteriorated rapidly in 2005 through to 2008 as teachers’ salaries declined leading to a mass exodus of teachers.

He said he took over an education system in 2009 during the GNU with 8 000 government schools closed while more than 100 000 teachers were on strike.

“The public examinations which were written in November 2008 were not even marked and the textbook-pupil ratio was atrocious, down to 15 pupils to one textbook at best.

“In many schools the only textbook was the one that the teacher had and during my tenure in 2009 through to 2013, we managed to stabilise the education sector,” Coltart said.

“We got 15 000 teachers back to service through an amnesty, and we got the textbook pupil ratio down to one to one and started working on the recommendations by the Nziramasanga Report.”

Coltart also accused Zanu-PF of frustrating these efforts during the GNU and the curriculum issue was not adequately addressed adding that the teaching system has a heavily demotivated staff attracting those who would have failed to get into other disciplines.

He added that the government needed to change its attitude towards education, improve teacher training facilities while raising education requirements for people to become teachers.

“There is a need for a variety of incentives once people have trained as teachers. The status of the teaching profession needs to be raised so that we attract the best brains into the teaching profession,” he said.

Coltart said it was also fortunate that Zimbabwe’s education system remained very good in terms of the actual standards arguing that pupils who get to Advanced Level have a chance of making it outside Zimbabwe.

Tswane University of Technology department of public management’s Professor Ricky Mukonza said the education standards reflected a decline in social life in Zimbabwe.

He said chief among the reasons for the decline was lack of resources.

“For example, I would pick an investment area in the ICT component of that sector. Investment in modern equipment and technologies that will allow pupils to learn from relevant technologies.

“So indeed, the quality of education in Zimbabwe has gone down. That is a cause for concern because the education sector is quite critical for the economy. That sector is critical for human development and Zimbabwean society. Something needs to be done to ensure that it returns to its former glory,” Mukonza said.

The Pretoria-based academic said the decline in education standards was not isolated as it indicates a general decline in standard of life in Zimbabwe.

“What we are seeing is the microcosm of the macrocosm, in the sense that it is a reflection of the decline in Zimbabwean society in general.

“If things are not good in the economy, there is no way that an investment can be made in such a sector. This appears to me as misplaced priorities on the part of the government,” he said.

Mukonza acknowledged the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic to education adding that the government had failed to invest in technology investment in primary and secondary schools affecting the transition into online learning.

He however, argued that while Mugabe’s legacy was under threat, the decline did not start under the current administration.

“It started under Mugabe because we could see that post-2000 and the standard of education kept going down after Mugabe left, and sadly, the so-called new dawn has not done anything to ensure that the situation improves.

“I would say one of the key challenges is lack of funding and investment in the education sector.”

Another former cabinet minister and renowned academic and one of the architects of the education revolution, Fay Chung concurred that Zimbabwe educational quality had deteriorated for most schools over the past 20 years.

She, however, said despite the deterioration, some schools have managed to retain high standards.

“This means wealthier Zimbabweans have managed to maintain the quality of education for their children in trust schools.

“However, more than 70% of Zimbabweans are poor and these include the teachers. They are not managing very well.  An economic development solution is essential rather than demanding payment in US dollars,” Chung said.

“With subdued production and failing exports Zimbabwe does not have enough US dollars to pay the large civil service, including the teachers.”

She also argued that the colonial education system was good for 4% of the population leading to questions on how Zimbabwe can cater for the majority.

Pomp And Fanfare At Madzibaba Birthday Bash

By A Correspondent- Even though he has grown to be loved by many people from across the country for his unique healing, Bulawayo cleric Madzibaba Emmanuel Mutumwa decided to skip pomp and fanfare when he observed his 30th birthday on Saturday last week.

The leader of the Johanne Masowe eChishanu Apostolic Church celebrated his birthday with an explosive healing and deliverance service which saw an outpouring of testimonies, signs and wonders punctuating his shrine in Bulawayo’s Selbourne Park suburb.

Those who were being delivered started manifesting and vomiting.

For a man who started from a very humble and poor beginning, it should not surprise anyone that his 30th birthday was supposed to be celebrated amid extravagance.

However, instead of throwing a lavish party and celebrating it with family and friends, Madzibaba Mutumwa decided to extend his love and affection to the sick by blessing and healing them.

Also, instead of donning the latest designer suit as it has become a norm with some prominent figures when celebrating their birthdays, Madzibaba Mutumwa was clad in white robes.

The colourful event was also graced by thousands, among them pastors from different local churches and neighbouring countries such as South Africa and Botswana.

Former war veterans’ leader and Zanu-PF Bulawayo province chairman Jabulani Sibanda, Zanu-PF members Elifasi Mashaba and Ernest Shora also attended the event.

Madzibaba Mutumwa made a grand entry at the shrine at around 1.30 pm appearing in a new white Mercedes Benz branded: “Happy Birthday Great Prophet, Bishop Mutumwa a very humble man of God.

You redeemed so many souls by healing the sick and giving to the poor and preaching the word of God”.

When he arrived, there was a near stampede as congregants and those who were sick jostled to greet him and touch his garment in the belief that they would be healed.

Some even got trampled as they tried to get closer to him. The sick believed that by just touching his garment they would be healed and invite good fortune and prosperity.

“I have been healed, praise God,” shouted one of the female congregants who claimed she had been healed of cancer.

Another congregant also remarked: “We will be blessed, and our prayers will be answered by just touching his garment.

We should be grateful to the Prophet, who has taught us, led us, and made a significant change that we call a transformation from darkness into a new era of light.”

Madzibaba Mutumwa started the service with a thanksgiving prayer which was led by some senior members of his church.

Delivering his special birthday message, the man of God stated: “Birthdays are a time to reflect on the memories of yesterday, the joys of today and the dreams of tomorrow.  But for me my birthday is a time to heal and bless the sick and to deliver those who need to be delivered. I want to thank you for gracing this occasion.”

He went on to lead the mass prayer that saw many sick people being healed.

Many people with conditions ranging from disability, terminal illnesses, blindness, to marital problems, among others, claimed to have been assisted.

Those who received healing testified during the service whose highlight was the cutting of the birthday cake by the prophet who was flanked by his father and mother, among others.

The man-of-cloth also received praise and presents from the pastors, members of his church and guests who attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Madzibaba Mutumwa said he was happy to celebrate his birthday in a different way for the first time in his life.

He said he decided to forego extravagance as a humble reminder of how privileged his life was.

“I am grateful to my followers and that’s why I decided to spend this special day of my life with them, blessing them and healing the sick and preaching the word of God,” said Madzibaba Mutumwa.

Zim Entrepreneur On A Mission To Turn Ngomakurira Hills Into The Next Best Tourist Destination

Thirty- three year old Zimbabwe entrepreneur Prosper Makumbe is a man on a mission.

A mission to make Ngomakurira Hills in Domboshava one of the best go to places for tourists and the Harare metropolitan population.

“We have recently acquired a piece of land and we have build and still in the process of building more poultry houses in Zimbabwe.

“With the vast knowledge i have acquired over the years, we plan to put an upscale restaurant in domboshava, with a beautiful Chef’s garden just next to Ngomakurira Hills, which is a site managed by the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe,” he said.

Makumbe is the head of Makumbe Enterprise which is registered in three countries- Zimbabwe, Rwanda and South Africa.

A well traveled entrepreneur who has vast experience in agriculture, tourism and hospitality, Makumbe was based in South Africa for many years rising through the ranks to be one of the leading names in South African hospitality.

“Zimbabwe is home. We go out to gain knowledge so that we can improve our country,” he said.

Ngomakurira is known to many Harare residents as an area of intense beauty and great spiritual significance.

On the side of the massive orange-coloured vertical rock face of the main mountain, a giant batholith, there is some well-preserved San rock art.

Some say that Ngomakurira deserves the status of world heritage site for the combination of great natural beauty and cultural significance it offers.

Drama At Funeral As Burial Of 12yr Old Is Halted

By A Correspondent- There was drama in Bulawayo’s Gwabalanda suburb when the burial of a 12-year-old girl was temporarily halted on Thursday after the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) said the burial could not go ahead without a second post-mortem.

Kwanele Ndlovu is said to have died suddenly after complaining of stomach pains that were thought not to be serious.

The entombment of the Grade 7 pupil was supposed to have taken place in the morning but was stopped after a staffer from UBH called and said the correct procedure of having two post-mortems from two different doctors had not been done.

The parents of Kwanele had to go to UBH with the police from Luveve police station to sign papers for the burial to go ahead.

Kwanele was then buried in the afternoon at 2pm after body viewing was done at Falakhe Funeral Parlour at 1pm.

Mourners expressed shock at the passing of Kwanele.

“It’s so painful to bury your child and Kwanele was such a brilliant kid.

Last Saturday I saw her at church and she just looked healthy and live, this has caused so much pain to everyone close to her especially her classmates who were crying at the service at Gwabalanda before the complications arose that the funeral had to be on pause till the post-mortem issue was finalised,” said George Moyo, a pastor.

Kwanele’s headmistress, speaking on condition of anonymity, described her as a bright pupil.

“Kwanele was such a bright pupil and was the chosen head girl for this year and this is really painful to us because we had hoped for a bright future ahead of her,” she said.

Her parents were too emotional to comment.

Attempts to get a comment from UBH were abortive as the acting chief executive officer Dr Narcisius Dzvanga was unreachable.

Mugabe’s Properties Go Under Hammer

By The late former President Robert Mugabe could be turning in his grave with properties running into several millions of United States dollars from two of his farms going under the hammer as the business empire folds, the Zimbabwe Independent reported.

According to a notice, Harare-based auctioneers, Ruby Auctioneers, will tomorrow and on Monday auction farm equipment and vehicles at Mugabe’s two – Gushungo Holdings (Highfield Farm) in Norton and Gushungo Dairy Farm in Mazowe.

A source close to the late leader’s family yesterday confirmed that Mugabe’s wife, Grace, instituted the auction as she looks at down-scaling operations.

Zimbabwe on Monday celebrates Mugabe’s life through the National Youth Day, which also coincides with the auctioning of the late leader’s assets.

Mugabe was born on February 21, 1924 and died in September 2019 after being removed from office via a military coup that propelled Emmerson Mnangagwa into the presidency.

Reacting to the development, a Mugabe sympathisers yesterday said this reflected badly on Mnangagwa’s administration

which is failing to protect the former leader’s estate.

“The treatment of the former President (Mugabe) continues to have a sour taste in the mouth.

Inability to respect a founding father notwithstanding any mistakes does little to build and reconcile a nation.

It’s absolutely essential that former leaders and current ones are treated with respect and decorum so that they gracefully exit office without fear of ill-treatment.”

The ardent follower said celebrating Mugabe’s birthday on Monday should also be a period of self-introspection for the current leadership.

“We celebrate his birthday on the 21st, a date agreed to by all and hopefully it’s a reflection time.

We can do better as a nation and unite our people for greater prosperity than perpetuate feuds and inability to forgive,” the sympathiser said.

In an interview yesterday, independent researcher and political analyst Effie Ncube said the development needs to be assessed principally on the reasons the former first family was disposing of the property.

“If the property being disposed of was acquired above board without any criminality then there is no problem with that except if they are disposing of that property because they are having problems financially or maybe because the Mnangagwa regime is not taking care of them.

“That will be a problem because every new government has a responsibility to accord dignity to those who have governed the country in the past regardless of the political differences they might have or which they continue to have now,” Ncube said.

“There is some dignity that goes with the office of the president, the dignity that goes with the office of the first lady regardless of how much we might disagree with them.

The empathy, the due respect and compassion has to go with those offices unless there is a clear cut case of criminality.”

He added that if Grace was being victimised on account of political differences that would reflect badly on Mnangagwa’s government.

“If the former first lady is disposing of the property because she wants to retire into private life and she thinks that the excess property is not fitting to the kind of life she will be living then there isn’t any problem.

“If she is getting rid of the property because she wants to retire into something more decent or to get some income and get a decent life in retirement again it becomes problematic because the government has a responsibility to take care of the former first family regardless of the political differences,” he added.

“It’s not about personal differences but what the law requires in terms of how they should be treated.

In the case that they could not sustain the business after leaving, which is always the case with many former leaders on the continent, then that also brings a lot of questions on the former leaders,” he said.

Political commentator Rashwheat Mukundu said the auction signalled the end of the Mugabe legacy as the family retreats from both its business and political interests.

“This attests to views that business ventures of the politically connected are anchored on political patronage and cannot survive on their own,” he said.

Properties to be auctioned on site in Norton include three Nissan NP 200 pickups, a Mazda BT50, a Toyota Hilux, seven Bluewater pumps on wheels and a John Deere combine harvester to maize head.

The properties also include combine harvesters, motorised boom-spray, tractor mower side cutters, spreaders and reversible three-dish ploughs.

Property going under the hammer at Gushungo Dairy Farm include an Isuzu five-tonne refrigerated, combine harvester maize head, boom spray, Scania horse, 30 tonne trailer, two Honda Fit sedans, water bowsers, a minibus, six lawn mowers and two tractors.

Government in 2020 gazetted a law known as the Presidential Pension and Retirement Benefits (Services and Facilities for Spouses of Former Presidents) Notice stipulating benefits the spouse of a former President is entitled to in case of retirement or death of the President.

Trio In Soup Over Dangerous Prisoner Escape

By A Correspondent- Three Bulawayo prisons officers are in the dock for helping a dangerous prisoner serving 53 years in jail for armed robbery escape from a maximum-security prison in broad daylight.

Talent Bhekinhlanhla Ndlovu (21), Tatenda Madzivadondo (28) and Musawenkosi Sibanda (32) from Khami Prison Camp in Bulawayo appeared in court on Tuesday for aiding and abetting Jabson Shonhe to pull off a daring prison break which is straight out of a Hollywood script.

They are charged with assisting a prisoner escape from custody as defined in Section 185 (2) as read with section 198 (D) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act) Chapter 9:23.

They are also accused of criminal abuse of office as defined in section 174 of the Criminal (Codification and Reform Act) Chapter 9:23.

The three allegedly gave Shonhe, a class D prisoner, a cellphone to plan his escape and to arrange a getaway car with his friends.

It was not stated what motivated them to assist Shonhe.

The court heard that on February 19, 2022, around 11am, the accused officers unlawfully opened the gate for Shonhe and Ndlovu gave him a mobile phone to call his friends who had arranged a getaway vehicle.

Madzivadondo, the guard in charge of opening and locking up the gates for inmates and prison officers, opened the gate for Shonhe to walk away from the prison.

He was the only officer deployed at the gate on the said day.

Sibanda is said to have walked Shonhe out of the prison. Earlier he had been seen moving around the prison complex with Shonhe.

The three officers were denied bail and remanded in custody to 28 February by Western Commonage Court magistrate Shepherd Munjanja after the State argued that they were a flight risk since they were facing a capital offence which could see them imprisoned for a long time.

The State also argued that the three accused persons could interfere with witnesses if they were granted bail since they stay in the same neighbourhood.

The other reasons for opposing bail were that investigations were not yet complete and evidence linking the accused to the crime was overwhelming.-BMetro

Cheating Woman Caught Red-handed

By A Correspondent- A man from Beitbridge who came home unexpectedly got the shock of his life after he caught his wife dishing out sex to another man in their matrimonial bedroom.

Following his admission, I ordered him to pay two beasts and R4 100 being the money Mapfumo claimed he incurred while suing Sibanda,” said Headman Tsetana.-BMetro
