Zimbabwean Man Who Murdered Wife In Front Of Children Sentenced To Life In Prison

Obert Moyo (28/02/1978) of Pennington Road, Bolton was on Tuesday sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 27 years for murdering 35-year-old Perseverance Ncube.

Moyo was due to go on trial at Manchester Crown Court but changed his plea to guilty yesterday on the first day of the case.

Obert Moyo

At 2:39 am on Friday 10th November 2023 Perseverance, known as Percy, called emergency services reporting a man she knew was chasing her along Dukesgate Grove, and while on the line with the call handler, there were sounds of a disturbance before she collapsed in the street.

Within 11 minutes officers were first to arrive on scene and immediately began CPR. Percy was found unresponsive and taken to hospital, where she sadly died not long after arriving. A Home Office post-mortem confirmed Perseverance died as a result of a stab wound to her chest.

We now know the man responsible is Obert Moyo. He and Percy were in a relationship which recently ended before he murdered her.

Our investigation team followed Moyo’s movements in the evening. We obtained CCTV which captured the vicious attack witnessed by her children and collected forensic evidence tying Moyo to Percy’s murder. We found and arrested him later that morning in Bolton.

Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand said: “In the months leading up to Percy’s death, she was stalked by Obert Moyo. He spent hours outside her home, often in the early hours of the morning.

“Police were unaware Percy was being stalked, and she may have not known herself, but we know this to be true from examining CCTV and his immigration electronic monitoring tag. He was, in fact, an illegal immigrant, denied asylum and on prison licence following release from a 14-year sentence for a serious assault on a previous partner.

“Moyo is a dangerous and violent man and would not accept his relationship with Percy was over. He broke into her home while she and her children, aged just 10 and 12 at the time, slept and attacked Percy in her bedroom. Her children rushed to their mum’s aid and bravely dragged Moyo off her.

“Moyo chased after Percy into the street and showed no mercy as he stabbed her in front of her children.

“Until yesterday he denied murdering Percy and showed callous disregard to her family, whom he knew.

“Percy’s children have been unbelievably brave and are supported by a close and loving family. Percy was full of life, frequently described as lighting up a room and a treasured member of her church community.

“Today Moyo has been sentenced to life in prison, but Percy’s loss will always be felt by those who loved her.

“Stalking is an offence we treat extremely seriously, and it can often be a precursor to some of the most horrendous crimes, as in this case.

“We encourage anyone who believes they are being stalked to come forward so we can take proactive and robust action against suspects.

“I would also like to thank the whole team involved in securing today’s sentence.”

Mnangagwa Scared Of Workers Even On Their Important Day

The Zimbabwe Republic Police issued a ban on traditional public processions by workers, a key part of their annual rituals to mark Workers Day.

In a statement on the eve of Workers Day on Tuesday, police said workers should flock to different centres that were designated for the commemorations throughout the country without embarking on processions.

Reacting to the ban, Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) western region chairperson, Ambrose Sibindi said the union was disappointed by the police ban on a public ritual by workers.

“We are very disappointed because when we set up this programme, the idea was that we were supposed to have a procession from our office into town and this venue which we normally do every year.

“We got the shock of our lives when we were ready to start just before 8AM when an Inspector Nkomo from the police headquarters here in Bulawayo informed me that the procession had been banned nationally.

“That is the reason we did not have a procession today (Monday).

“We were told that we must just come here. We phoned our head office who also revealed that they faced the same problem.

“As workers, we totally condemn such behaviour from our police.

“This is Worker`s Day and we believe that are supposed to enjoy our day but that is beside the point; it will not stop us from enjoying our day,” he said.

Sibindi, in his address, bemoaned the closure of industries in Bulawayo and reduction in capacity utilisation in most industries which he said has affected workers in Bulawayo.

The commemorations are being held under the theme: Workers demand an inclusive Zimbabwe free from poverty, corruption and oppression, arise workers arise.

Former ZCTU Boss Endorses Chamisa’s Workers Day Pledge

By A Correspondent| Former Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) President Peter Mutasa has praised opposition leader Nelson Chamisa’s Workers Day message saying should he follow through and deal with the five issues he raised, his government will earn the respect of Workers.

Posting on X, Mutasa said;

“Workers day message from President Chamisa If he deals with the 5 issues he raises then his government will be respected by workers 1) Decent work2) Collective bargaining for civil servants 3) Primacy of TNF4) Decent minimum wage5) Freedoms.”

Chamisa Makes A Promise To Workers Of Zimbabwe

Former leader of the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa has said a nation’s dignity lies in the dignity of its working people, who serve as its heroes.

Despite not revealing his next political steps since leaving the CCC in January this year, Chamisa assured Zimbabwean workers that change is imminent.

In a statement commemorating the 2024 Workers’ Day on this Wednesday, May 1st, Chamisa highlighted the harsh reality: over 80% of the working population in Zimbabwe remains unemployed. He said:

Strikingly, 3.5 million youths are unemployed while 7.9 million people live in extreme poverty. The majority live below the poverty datum line of US$575, while average wages at US$275 fall short of meeting basic needs.

Punitive tax thresholds, starting at US$100, leave little to support families, where a basket of basic goods is six times higher than the minimum wage.

Every worker deserves to thrive in an inclusive Zimbabwe where everyone has access to fair and dignified employment opportunities and a balanced work environment.

Chamisa asserted that if elected, his government will ensure that the Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF) will be the prime policy formulation platform and that no public policy will be implemented without passing through the TNF.

The TNF is a social dialogue platform that was established to facilitate consultation, cooperation, and negotiation on social and economic issues among three key partners: Government, organised business, and organised labour. Said Chamisa:

We will immediately grant public sector workers the right to collective bargaining by ratifying and domesticating ILO Convention 151.

We will re-establish a living minimum wage through social dialogue. We will allow workers to demonstrate and demand their rights.

The idea of an inclusive Zimbabwe free from poverty, corruption and oppression is the aspiration of all the citizens of Zimbabwe.

In a Zimbabwe free from poverty, corruption and oppression, the fruits of labour shall translate into economic progress for all.

Every family shall have the chance to prosper, and the benefits of hard work shall enrich the entire nation.

In a corruption-free Zimbabwe, the fruits of labour will fuel economic progress and boost economic prosperity, benefiting all families.

Workers deserve the freedom to freely choose a government that serves them, making the resolution of the August 2023 disputed elections a crucial step towards recognizing workers’ rights.

Chamisa said the current ZANU PF-led government is unelected, therefore illegitimate and incapable of responding effectively to workers’ demands.

He said there is a need to collectively resolve the “broken politics, disputed elections and contested presidential office.”

Biti’s Masvingo Mayor Collen Maboke Accused of Murder

Tendai Biti’s Masvingo Mayor Collen Maboke Accused of Attempted Murder by ZANU PF Youth Chairperson

Masvingo, Zimbabwe— In a dramatic turn of events, ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial Youth chairperson Delight Mandebvu, currently facing legal issues himself, has accused Masvingo Mayor Collen Maboke, associated with Tendai Biti, of attempted murder. The accusation came to light after Mandebvu was involved in an automobile incident with Maboke’s vehicle on March 3, 2024, along the Masvingo-Mutare Highway.

The Accuser

Mandebvu, who is dealing with three counts of assault and a charge of negligent driving from a separate incident, reported the attempted murder allegation against Mayor Maboke only after receiving a court summons for his assault charges. According to Mandebvu, the conflict arose when their vehicles side-swiped approximately 50km from Masvingo. He alleges that Maboke, after an ensuing altercation, tried to run him over, resulting in a broken leg.

The Masvingo Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, the Mirror reports, has stated that he is currently reviewing the details of the report. Police were initially hesitant to file the attempted murder charge, which was only accepted after the intervention of the Law and Order Section.

This case gains complexity as Mandebvu was reportedly pursuing Maboke’s vehicle, driven by Maboke’s wife Tariro, when the side-swipe occurred. Mandebvu allegedly assaulted Maboke, his wife, and a relative after forcing their vehicle to stop. During the altercation, Mandebvu was struck by another vehicle, resulting in his injuries.

Mandebvu, who has a history of legal challenges including accusations of stock theft and disorderly conduct, now finds his credibility under scrutiny. This incident adds to a series of controversial interactions involving ZANU PF officials, where accusations and legal actions often intertwine with political tensions.

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission has noted an alarming trend in such cases, particularly highlighting issues at the Gutu Police Station, where complainants against ZANU PF are frequently arrested and turned into accused.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the community watches closely, given the high-profile nature of the accusations and the individuals involved. The case is set to be heard in court next Wednesday, promising further developments in this contentious matter.

Redcliff Municipality Achieves Historic 50/50 Gender Parity in Recent Election

Redcliff, Zimbabwe— In a landmark achievement for gender equality, Redcliff Municipality has reached a 50/50 gender parity following the election and subsequent swearing-in of Councillor Christine Sigauke. This marks the municipality as the first local authority under the Second Republic, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, to achieve such parity.

The recent elections brought six female councillors to office, aligning with six male colleagues to fulfill the government’s vision of gender balance in local governance. This balance has been bolstered by the Second Republic’s policy initiative that mandates at least 30 percent female representation in local authorities.

Councillor Sigauke’s victory in the Ward 3 by-election on April 6 was pivotal in achieving this milestone. She triumphed over opposition candidate Tinei Siziba, representing the ruling Zanu-PF party. The seat was previously held by Mayor Clayton Masiyatsva, who passed away in January due to illness.

Alongside Sigauke’s election, Redcliff’s government saw other significant appointments, including Alderman Vincent Masiiwa stepping in as mayor and Councillor Fortunate Makawa being named deputy mayor.

Kwekwe District Development Coordinator, Mr. Fortune Mpungu, lauded this achievement, emphasizing its significance for the district and the broader agenda of women’s empowerment. “Redcliff Municipality has set a precedent, not only in Zimbabwe but potentially in the region, by actualizing the envisioned gender parity,” stated Mr. Mpungu.

Mr. Mpungu also used this occasion to remind the new councillors of their responsibilities towards good governance and the aspirations of the Redcliff community. He expressed hopes for the municipality to advance towards achieving city status by 2030, underlining the necessity for all councillors to actively engage and deliver on public expectations of improved infrastructure and services.

The success of Redcliff Municipality in achieving gender parity is seen as a critical step forward in enhancing women’s participation in governance and decision-making processes across Zimbabwe, providing a model for other local authorities to follow.- ZIANA

It is 29 days before South Africa goes to the polls, and political parties, including the ruling ANC, have stepped up their their campaigns.

Stiff competition is expected between the ruling ANC, Democratic Alliance, Economic Freedom Fighter, and uMkhonto we Sizwe, which has former president Jacob Zuma in its ranks.

International Relations Expert, Mr Carter Chapwanya believes the upcoming election could be one of the closely contested since majority rule was attained in 1994.

“It is going to be one of the toughest election for ANC owing to a number of challenges relating to corruption allegations, power cuts which have seen a lot of questions being raised on the credibility of ANC to remain in power.”

The ANC has since roped in former President Thabo Mbeki, who commands a lot of respect among South Africans, a development described by Political Analyst, Mr Lazarus Sauti as a game changer.

“Mbeki is renowned for his power broking prowess, and being roped in the campaign of ANC is a master stroke for opposition political parties. Him on the ground will tilt the favour to ANC.”

South Africa will hold elections on the 29th of May, and the ANC is still fighting in the courts to bar former President Jacob Zuma from using the uMkhonto we Sizwe name, which is linked to the ruling party.

Harare, Zimbabwe- In a significant development, Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has successfully secured 1,000 educational scholarships aimed at enhancing Zimbabwe’s expertise in science and technology. This initiative follows his leadership role at the second Iran-Africa International Economic Conference, and marks a pivotal step towards fulfilling the needs identified in the Government’s 2018 skills gap audit.

The scholarships, a part of a broader collaborative effort with Iran, will be available for lecturers from Zimbabwe’s polytechnics and industrial colleges. These educators are set to undergo intensive six-month courses in Iran starting before the end of the year, focusing on becoming trainers of trainers in their respective fields.

Sikhala Dismisses Zanu PF, CCC Dialogue

Tinashe Sambiri

Former Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s Constituency, Honorable Job Sikhala, has vehemently rejected the purported negotiations between Zanu PF and the Sengezo Tshabangu-led CCC (Citizens Coalition for Change).

Since the resignation of CCC founding President Nelson Chamisa earlier this year, citing extensive infiltration by Zanu PF operatives, there have been speculations of the party’s alignment with the ruling regime.

In a resolute statement on Monday, Sikhala asserted:

“Musada kutamba nenyika seizvi.

Hazvisi right. People are closely monitoring this kind of madness. It is not right.”

Sikhala’s words reflect the deep concern among opposition supporters regarding the alleged collaboration between CCC and Zanu PF.

He emphasized the gravity of the situation, urging against complacency in the face of what he perceives as a threat to the nation’s democratic integrity.

The outspoken stance taken by Sikhala underscores the commitment of opposition figures to uphold democratic principles and resist any attempts to compromise the independence of political entities in Zimbabwe.

His warning serves as a rallying cry for those who advocate for transparency, accountability, and genuine democratic processes in the country.

South African Citizen Mocks ZiG

By A Correspondent

South African citizen Betty Ledwaba has ridiculed Zimbabwe’s newly introduced currency, comparing its appearance to soccer tickets.

Taking to Facebook yesterday, Ledwaba remarked, “It doesn’t look like money, it looks more like the ticket I got from Computicket during a soccer festival.

Zimbabweans won’t go back home for this thing that doesn’t look like money, only ZAR makes sense to them.”

Commenting on the situation, Amociano ZA remarked, “Let’s hope it won’t Zig Zag like others.”

Zimbabwe has launched the ZiG currency in an effort to combat inflation.

Number 7 Jersey Haunts Bayern Munich

Sports Correspondent

In the illustrious history of football, certain numbers carry an almost mythical significance, embodying the spirit of greatness and legacy.

Among them, the number 7 stands tall, casting its shadow across generations and continents. And in the hallowed grounds of Bayern Munich, this number has repeatedly woven tales of triumph and despair.

The latest chapter in this saga unfolded on a tense night in Munich, as Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, clad in the iconic number 7 jersey, etched his name into the annals of football history.

With seven minutes remaining in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg, the Brazilian dynamo seized the moment, delivering an electrifying equalizer that reverberated through the Allianz Arena.

But this narrative of the number 7 at Bayern Munich transcends individual moments; it is a story of lineage and destiny.

From Cristiano Ronaldo’s memorable exploits to Vinicius Junior’s timely intervention, the jersey has been a conduit for magic and mayhem in equal measure.

For Bayern Munich faithful, the sight of the number 7 evokes memories of both triumph and heartache.

It symbolizes the relentless pursuit of excellence, the unyielding spirit that defines the club’s ethos. Yet, it also serves as a reminder of past battles lost and adversaries conquered.

In the realm of football folklore, certain numbers become imbued with a significance that transcends their numerical value.

The number 7, with its aura of mystique and reverence, holds a special place in this pantheon.

And in Munich, where history is written with every pass and every goal, its presence is felt more keenly than ever.

As the Champions League saga unfolds, and the battle for supremacy reaches its crescendo, one thing remains certain: the number 7 will continue to haunt Bayern Munich, its legacy enduring long after the final whistle has blown.

For in the theater of dreams, where legends are born and destinies collide, some numbers are more than just numbers—they are symbols of greatness, forever etched in the fabric of time.

Zimbabwe is now a full blown kleptocracy

By Diana Machingauta| A few weeks ago, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe introduced a new currency called the ZiG which it claimed was going to be more stable than the previous currency which had gone through over 2000% inflation, the highest in the world. The new RBZ governor, the president and numerous other mouthpieces of the Zanu PF regime continue to parrot the line this ZiG currency was going to be stable because it is backed by Zimbabwe’s gold reserves.

But how much gold reserves are there and can we even trust this lot when it comes to gold? Do they really expect us to forget that not long ago a documentary on Al Jazeera showed that gold is being looted from the country with impunity? Zimbabweans are being expected to be reassured that the new currency is backed by the most precarious asset in the country. The mind boggles.

I think we are at a point where the regime actually doesn’t care about what we think. Most of what they say or do is egregious. They don’t care because they are in cruise control. They have pretty much eliminated the opposition. They are not hiding who they are. Convicted fraudsters who moonlight as runners for the regime are no longer lurking in the shadows – they are now being paraded next to the president, on trips across the country and to eminent African leaders.

There is no doubt, that Zimbabwe is now a full blown kleptocracy.

How to Start a Farming Business

The attraction of living on a farm with colorful fields and the joy of growing your own food is unquestionable. However, for hopeful farmers, venturing into farming necessitates meticulous planning and a thorough comprehension of the challenges at hand. This detailed guide explores the necessary information and factors to consider prior to starting your agricultural adventure. And while at it, don’t forget to explore some fun activities for a better, healthier you.

Things You Should Consider Before Starting Business Farming

Cost

To begin your farming journey, you must create a financial plan with enough funds. The type and scale of farming you can manage will be determined by the budget. The money you invest will cover all necessary expenses until you achieve your initial crop yield. Costs of inputs can vary, such as obtaining seeds, fertilizer, irrigation, labor, and harvesting, among other possibilities. Use various funding options, like bank loans and personal savings. Don’t forget to create a detailed strategy to prevent incurring losses that could lead to financial difficulties.

Climatic conditions

Before embarking on agriculture, it is essential to have a good grasp of the climate. Get to know the terrain and the local weather conditions. The weather conditions determine what you can grow and how it will impact you and your business. Various crops flourish in various climates, and selecting the incorrect crop for the conditions will result in failure.

After becoming acquainted with the weather patterns in your region, engage in conversation with neighboring farmers, assess their plots in comparison to yours, and glean insights from their experiences.

Quality of the soil

As it is common knowledge, various regions consist of varying soil types. To determine the most suitable crop to plant on your piece of land, conduct soil tests in a lab to assess its quality, type, pH level, and salinity. This will determine if the soil is suitable for successful crop growth. In many cases, you may need to choose between cultivating crops suited to your land or finding a new plot of land. Don’t forget to consult with neighboring farm owners for detailed advice when making decisions.

Government Policies

When searching for the ideal location to kickstart your agricultural venture, remember to consider government regulations. Some government policies can assist in the cultivation of crops in areas with beneficial tax systems and access to free fertilizers. The government extensively supports agriculture because people in a country will go hungry without it. Thus, they enforce specific regulations that benefit farmers.

Infrastructure

Good infrastructure, such as roads, electricity, water, and healthcare facilities, is essential for the growth of the farming industry. This will prevent you from struggling to determine how to transport your crops to market or your animals to the veterinarian. Hence, when looking for an ideal location to begin farming, one must take into account the infrastructure to ensure efficient operations.

Time

Farming requires a substantial investment of time. Seasons determine the amount of work needed, with planting and harvesting seasons demanding extensive hours of concentrated work. Efficient time management ensures smooth operation of your business.

Creating a timetable that includes planting cycles, maintenance duties, marketing tasks, and record-keeping helps prevent any oversights. Think about using farm management software or mobile applications to make tasks more efficient and maximize your time.

Market

Not everything that grows can be sold. Extensive market research is crucial for achieving long-term success. Crucial is understanding the need for particular crops or livestock in your area. Study consumer patterns and pinpoint possible specialized markets. Take into account elements such as fresh produce grown naturally, products sourced nearby, and unique animal breeds.

Forming relationships with distributors and wholesalers can assist in understanding the intricacies of the market. Becoming a member of a nearby farming cooperative can offer important perspectives and strength in negotiating as a group. Having a grasp of pricing strategies and marketing techniques helps in getting your products to consumers at a competitive price level.

Tips for Success

Invest in Technology

Modern agriculture flourishes by adopting technology. Make use of data-driven precision agriculture to enhance crop yields, purchase efficient machinery to streamline operations, and remain curious about new innovations.

This technology-focused method enables you to make educated choices, operate more efficiently, and ultimately establish a more efficient and long-lasting farm.

Diversify Your Income Streams

Do not concentrate all your resources in one place! Though it’s vital to focus on main crops, it’s also wise to supplement your earnings with value-added goods such as jams or artisan cheeses, engaging guests through agritourism ventures, or vending directly to customers at local markets. This multifaceted strategy establishes a financial safety net, mitigates market volatility, and opens up opportunities to reach new customers.

Network and Learn from Others

Farming success hinges on a strong support network. Joining a local farmers’ cooperative offers a wealth of benefits, from shared knowledge and cost-saving bulk purchases to joint marketing and advocacy efforts. Look beyond cooperatives too; tap into agricultural extension services, online communities, and local farmer relationships for continuous learning and collaboration. Remember, the strength of the agricultural community is the strength of each individual farmer.

In conclusion, embarking on a farming journey requires a blend of passion, practicality, and perseverance. As you take those initial steps, remember to define your goals, assess your available resources, and conduct thorough market research. Choose a niche that aligns with your vision and consumer demand. Embrace technology, learn from experienced farmers, and stay adaptable. Whether you are cultivating crops, raising livestock, or exploring sustainable practices, your journey as a farmer begins with thoughtful planning and a commitment to nurturing the land.

Bestie Betrays Mai TT, Fumes Over Expose’

By Showbiz Reporter- Social media celebrity Felistas Murata, known as Mai TT, has claimed that her best friend, Patricia Jack, leaked the nudes of her daughter.

This was exposed by a local tabloid, which wrote in its editorial saying Jack was threatening them for penning her name in the Fifi nudes story.

Here is what H-Metro revealed:

SOCIAL media character, Patricia Jack, has decided to threaten us because she is unhappy with an article we carried a few weeks ago.

She issued her threats to our senior journalist, Arron Nyamayaro, whom she is accusing of dragging her name into the storm, which erupted after the publication of Mai TT daughter’s nude photographs.

Patricia said Nyamayaro, and this publication, will know she is well connected to high-profile people in this country, who will fight on her behalf.

She also promised to post messages on her social media handles attacking Nyamayaro, in particular, and H-Metro, in general.

According to her message, she has has four prominent lawyers, who have volunteered to provide her with free legal service in the event what she has planned to do with us, using her high-profiile connections, fails.

She wrote a lengthy message to Nyamayaro which, in part, reads:

“I have four lawyers, big lawyers who want to do my story for free watch the space.

“The world is watching H-Metro and Felistas miraka uone.

“And, remember I know how you work namai TT, I’m hundred percent you were behind this and I will never stop to expose you guys.

“I know and you know it zvandinazvo zvihombe muchadonha henyu.”

Patricia is not happy that, in one of our articles, we mentioned her name in the saga related to the nude images of Mai TT’s daughter Fifi.

We don’t understand what Patricia means when she claims that we are responsible for dragging her name into the controversy.

We simply picked her name in the court papers, which were filed by Mai TT, and we have a responsibility to keep our readers informed of what is happening at the courts.

Once something is in court papers, we can report about it and once her name was mentioned by Mai TT, we just reported what was in those public documents.

If she has a problem, then she should direct her threats to Mai TT, who mentioned her name in those court documents, and not to us.

We have absolutely no problem with Patricia Jack and we didn’t know of any of her connection to this saga until her name appeared in the court papers.

We didn’t reach a conclusion that she is reponsibile or guilty of leaking the nude images.

We simply reported what was in the court papers.

Mai TT also claimed, in the same court papers, that Patricia allegedly attempted to extort her, demanding that she pays US$5 000, to ensure that the images were not splashed online.

If Mai TT had made the same claim, outside the court process, we would certainly not have carried the story, and her claims, without getting Patricia’s side of the story.

Vinicius Junior Rescues Los Blancos

Vinicius Junior scored a late penalty to earn Real Madrid a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian forward gave the visitors the lead against the run of play in the first half after Bayern had dominated the opening 20 minutes, with Leroy Sane denied inside 60 seconds by goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

But Sane sparked the hosts into life early in the second half, beating Lunin at his near post with a piledriver before Harry Kane slotted home from the penalty spot to complete the four-minute turnaround.

Bayern controlled the game from then on yet squandered their lead with seven minutes left when Min-Jae Kim brought down Rodrygo in the box and Vinicius sent Manuel Neuer the wrong way to leave the tie all square.

Wicknell Chivayo: I Was Almost Assaulted With A Hammer

Wicknell Chivayo Accuses Wife of Prostitution in Viral Audio Clip

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye| In a shocking revelation, a viral audio clip has surfaced featuring businessman Wicknell Chivayo accusing his wife, Sonja, of prostitution. Chivayo’s statement, directed towards his wife’s family, alleges disturbing claims about Sonja’s character and behavior.

In the audio clip, Chivayo is heard stating, “I don’t want your sorry… I don’t want to do or have anything to do with this woman… She has a spirit of mermaids, she has the spirit of prostitution.” The accusations stem from a series of events, including Sonja’s recent public announcement declaring the end of their relationship, claiming Chivayo desires the single life.

Chivayo’s frustration is palpable as he refuses any further communication with Sonja or her family, vehemently stating, “I don’t want to talk to the mother… I don’t want to have any meeting with her.” He expresses anger towards Sonja’s decision to air their grievances publicly on the internet rather than addressing them privately with family members.

The accused, Sonja Chivayo, has yet to respond to the allegations at the time of this report. However, the audio clip has sparked widespread speculation and controversy, leaving many questioning the dynamics of the couple’s relationship and the validity of Chivayo’s accusations.

As this story continues to develop, the public awaits further statements from both parties involved. Stay tuned for updates on this unfolding saga.- ZimEye

Power of Plant Life

By A Correspondent

As South Africa commemorates the 30th anniversary of its historic first democratic election, the nation reflects on the hard-fought battles for freedom and equality.

Yet, amidst the celebrations, a poignant reminder emerges from Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty Ltd, urging not just South Africa but the entire Southern African Development Community (SADC) region to embrace plant life for sustainability.

In a statement delivered over the weekend, Mr. Moudy Mudzielwana, the director of Tshikovha Green, emphasized the symbiotic relationship between freedom and the environment.

“Our freedom will be incomplete without plants,” declared Mudzielwana, echoing the sentiment that true liberation encompasses not just human rights but also environmental stewardship.

As South Africans celebrate Freedom Day on April 27th, commemorating the end of apartheid and the dawn of democracy, Tshikovha Green’s message resonates deeply.

The historic election of 1994 marked a pivotal moment when millions of Black South Africans reclaimed their right to determine their own destinies. It was a triumph of democracy over oppression, a victory for justice and equality.

However, as the nation looks back on its journey to freedom, Tshikovha Green reminds us that true sustainability requires holistic thinking.

Just as the struggle for freedom was multifaceted, so too must be our approach to environmental conservation.

The call to embrace plant life is not merely an ecological imperative but an ethical one—a recognition of our interconnectedness with the natural world.

In advocating for the embrace of plant life, Tshikovha Green underscores the vital role of vegetation in mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring food security.

Trees, grasses, and other flora are not just passive bystanders in the fight against environmental degradation; they are active agents of regeneration and renewal.

Moreover, Tshikovha Green’s message extends beyond the borders of South Africa, encompassing the entire SADC region.

Climate change knows no boundaries, and its impacts are felt indiscriminately across nations.

Therefore, collective action and cooperation are essential in addressing the ecological challenges facing Southern Africa.

As the world grapples with the urgent need for environmental action, Tshikovha Green’s call on Freedom Day serves as a timely reminder of the intertwined nature of freedom and sustainability.

Just as the struggle for freedom required solidarity and resilience, so too does the fight for a greener, more equitable future.

In embracing plant life, we not only honor our past but also pave the way for a brighter tomorrow—a tomorrow where freedom and sustainability go hand in hand, where the flourishing of humanity is inseparable from the flourishing of the natural world.

As South Africa celebrates its hard-won freedoms, may we also recommit ourselves to protecting the precious ecosystems that sustain us all.

Sikhala Sends Strong Warning To Mnangagwa

South African Citizen Mocks ZiG, Says Notes Look Soccer Tickets

Nelson Chamisa Fights For Workers Rights

Source : Advocate Nelson Chamisa

TODAY IS WORKERS DAY.. Saluting all the working men and women who toil for the betterment of our beautiful Zimbabwe. You are the living heroes of this great nation.

Workers define the collective destiny of a nation. The dignity of any country is in the dignity of its working people.

The reality is harsh:
we commemorate the workers day when over 80% of the working population is unemployed.

In a New Great Zimbabwe;
1) Our Citizens government will put decent work agenda at the heart of our labour market policies.

2) We will elevate the TNF from the current talk show status to the prime policy formulation platform. No public policy will be implemented without passing through the TNF.

3) We will immediately grant public sector workers right to collective bargaining by ratifying and domesticating ILO Convention 151.
3) We will reestablish a living minimum wage through social dialogue.
4)We will allow workers to demonstrate and demand their rights.

Workers deserve the freedom to freely choose a government that serves them, making the resolution of August 2023 disputed elections a crucial step towards recognizing workers’ rights.

Collectively, we must resolve the broken politics, disputed elections and contested presidential office. An unelected government is unable and incapable of responding effectively to workers demands. For this reason, an unelected and illegitimate administration is indeed a burden on the nation, particularly the workers.

We must all be committed to resolving the political crisis and strive towards a new inclusive Zimbabwe where the dreams and aspirations of every working person can be realized.

The aspirations of every hardworking individual align with the vision of a great, working and prosperous Zimbabwe.

I have good news for you all the Workers of Zimbabwe – CHANGE is COMING! We are doing everything within our power to make this a reality with immediacy and urgency. We will fix the broken! #LaborDay2024 #Godisinit #ForEveryone

RBZ Fails To Deliver Enough Useless ZiG

By Business Reporter- The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has failed to deliver enough Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) banknotes and coins to the banks, leading to the general public failing to access the funds.

A snap survey conducted by NewsDay yesterday indicated that the majority of banks had no cash, fuelling scepticism among the banking public, which had waited for close to a month for the notes and coins.

NewsDay established that banks were only issuing coins and ZIG10 notes.

The highest denomination is ZiG200.

Farmers and traders at the populous Mbare Market in Harare said they were anxiously waiting for the ZiG notes and coins.

“We have not yet transacted using the ZiG as we wait for those with bank accounts to withdraw the money and use it when transacting with us,” a vendor said.

A farmer, however, said the notes and coins would bring convenience to the market.

“We have been struggling with change to an extent where we were giving people some extra produce to compensate for cents,” he said.

“We are, however, yet to see how this is going to play but I believe it is going to be helpful.”

Zimbabweans who failed to access the ZiG from automated teller machines expressed concern over the new currency, highlighting trust issues over its value.

“I haven’t seen the new currency on the streets yet, and as for me it will take time for me to adjust. I do not think I will accept the ZiG if I am given it as change on the commuter omnibus,” one woman said.

Bankers Association of Zimbabwe president Lawrence Nyazema said the banks received the notes and coins yesterday.

“They (RBZ) said the notes and coins are coming, for now let us use what we have been using until we have the money,” he said.

Nyazema cautioned against panic among the transacting public over the recently released currency.

“We do not need to go back to the situation where we were with the currency losing value over speculative motives,” he said.

The ZiG replaces the Zimdollar that had continually lost value since its reintroduction by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2019.

Authorities have said the ZiG is backed by gold and foreign currency reserves.

The ZiG is currently trading at a rate of 14:00 against US$1.

In a statement after the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, RBZ governor John Mushayavanhu said the committee had noted that the 2024 Monetary Policy Statement (MPS) was well received by the market.

“Preliminary indications since the announcement of the MPS show that the markets have been fairly stable.

“In this regard, the MPC affirmed its commitment to the consolidation of these positive sentiments and ensure a quick restoration of confidence, trust and anchoring of inflation expectations,” he said.

“The MPC will proactively review the monetary policy measures in line with exchange rate and inflation developments,” he said.

Mushayavanhu said the MPC directed RBZ to ensure there is effective communication on the new structured currency, ZiG, which cover the whole country to ensure there is financial inclusion.

“The Reserve Bank was also directed to ensure that, at all times, any growth in reserve money is fully covered by reserves, in the form of gold, other precious minerals and foreign currency balances in the Reserve Bank’s nostro account,” he said. Newsday

LEAD President Workers Day Message

By Linda Tsungirirai Masarira| On this auspicious occasion of Workers’ Day, we agreed Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD) extend our deepest appreciation to the diligent and dedicated workers of Zimbabwe whose unwavering commitment drives the wheels of progress in our society. As we gather in different places today to celebrate the contributions of workers across various sectors, it is paramount to reflect upon the overarching theme of ensuring safety and health at work in a world marked by rapid climate change and evolving environmental challenges.

The changing climate poses significant threats to workers’ well-being, as extreme weather events, rising temperatures, and environmental degradation increasingly impact workplaces. It is essential for employers, policymakers, and society as a whole to prioritize the safety and health of workers, implementing measures that safeguard their physical and mental well-being in the face of these new challenges.

Moreover, we cannot turn a blind eye to the oppressive practices that persist in certain industries, notably in mining operations conducted by some foreign entities like the Chinese. The exploitation of workers, disregard for safety regulations, and environmental degradation associated with such operations are deplorable and demand immediate condemnation. Every worker deserves to toil in an environment that respects their rights, ensures their safety, and upholds their dignity.

As we commemorate Workers’ Day under the banner of ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, let us reaffirm our commitment to advocating for the rights of all workers, promoting sustainable and equitable workplaces, and denouncing exploitative practices that undermine the well-being of the workforce. Together, let us strive to create a future where every worker in Zimbabwe is empowered, protected, and valued, contributing to a society that thrives on principles of justice, fairness, and solidarity.

It is not yet uhuru for the workers in Zimbabwe! Happy Workers Day dear worker!

Govt Plots Ambush On Hard Pressed Motorists

Cabinet has given the green light to pivotal amendments to the Broadcasting Services Act [Chapter 12:06] in a move set to significantly enhance the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s (ZBC) financial standing.

These changes will compel every motorist to secure an up-to-date radio licence as a prerequisite for vehicle disposal or the acquisition of motor vehicle insurance.

The impending legislation has sparked discontent among drivers, who deem the current law—mandating only a receiver—to be inequitable. A considerable number of motorists, particularly those with second-hand vehicles imported from Japan, find themselves unable to tune into ZBC’s radio frequencies.

“The new amendment is an unfair burden on the average motorist,” lamented Lazarus Bhebhe, a local car owner. “My car radio, like many others from Japan, can’t even pick up local stations.”

ZBC’s history of rigorous enforcement campaigns, obligating licence purchases regardless of a radio’s functionality or compatibility with Zimbabwean frequencies, has been a source of frustration for many.

“It’s absurd to pay for a service that we can’t use,” argued another motorist, Happiness Makomo.

Information Minister, Jenfan Muswere, in a post-Cabinet briefing, outlined the rationale behind the additional amendments.

“As the nation may recall, the first set of principles for the amendment of the Broadcasting Services Act were approved by Cabinet in 2019,” explained Muswere.

“The proposed additional principles are therefore meant to address shortcomings which were identified in the document, which is being drafted. The additional amendments will, among other provisions…ensure gender balance in the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe Board, (provide for) annual applications for broadcasting frequency spectrum licences, broaden and introduce new definitions under Section 38A; and prohibition of the sale of motor vehicle registration licence or motor vehicle insurance cover or policy to a person without a current radio licence or an exemption from ZBC under Section 38B.”

It will now be mandatory for all motorists to possess a current radio licence or an exemption from ZBC when engaging in transactions involving vehicle registration or insurance cover, Muswere said.

With these revisions, ZBC anticipates a substantial expansion of its revenue base, though at the cost of the motorists’ satisfaction.

Is Chiwenga Bringing Home Positive Results?

ZIMBABWE and Iran are on a trade expansion drive, with Vice President General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga leading a delegation to explore new opportunities at the ongoing Iran Africa Economic Conference in Tehran.

Over 3,000 foreign business representatives from across the globe are attending the Iran Expo 2024 which is running concurrently with the Iran -Africa Economic Conference as the Middle East country seeks to strengthen its trade and economic ties with other nations.

Vice President Chiwenga and his delegation had a chance to tour exhibition stands showcasing products across seven major categories, including agricultural equipment, construction and pharmaceuticals.

“In the health sector, we have seen quite a lot as well, they are going to establish the production of medicines in Zimbabwe. We want them to come with hospital equipment like cancer machines, dialysis machines among a host of hi-tech innovations we have seen here.

“We have seen quite a lot of interesting things at the agricultural pavilion from the development of cattle, be it dairy, or beef, that their development of the embryo they double the size and the quality that is what struck us. That kind of innovation, that kind of technology we would want the Islamic Republic of Iran to share with us. We visited tractors and these tractors are the best we can use for our rural industrialisation,” said Vice President Chiwenga.

Although trade volumes between Zimbabwe and Iran are currently low, Vice President Chiwenga noted the potential for a joint venture in tobacco processing.

“The Iran Tobacco Company is over 100 years old and since they were established, we also became a major player in supplying them with raw material for making cigarettes that is our Zimbabwe tobacco. So, they have been importing Zimbabwe tobacco for many years from pre-independence up to now, they are still importing tobacco and what we would want is for us and Iran to go into a joint venture.

“Already, the Minister of Agriculture and the chairman of TIMB are discussing with their counterparts here in the Iran Tobacco Company. We are already seeing traction and we are encouraging them to come and establish themselves in Zimbabwe so we can value add and beneficiate our machinery,”

Now in its 6th year, the Iran Expo has established a platform for dialogue and collaboration, ultimately shaping a new narrative for trade and economic future.

The expo aims to strengthen Iran’s trade and economic ties with other nations, while also boosting domestic manufacturing and propelling the private sector onto the global stage.

Money Changers Prosecuted Like Murderers As Chivayo Walks Scotfree

Bail Denied for Two in Harare Money Changer Arrests, Hearings Continue.

In a significant development following last week’s mass arrest of 65 suspected illegal money changers in Harare, the first two completed bail applications were rejected yesterday. Harare Magistrate Mrs. Ethel Chichera ruled against granting bail to Elliot Mavhura and Francis Kaunda after hearings that involved testimonies from the investigating officers.

The suspects, arrested for allegedly violating the Exchange Control Act, are accused of engaging in unauthorized foreign currency transactions. The court proceedings, which took place before Harare magistrates Mr. Dennis Mangosi and Mrs. Chichera, saw the State, represented by prosecutors Mr. Lancelot Mutsokoti, Mr. Thomas Chanakira, and Mr. Takudzwa Jambawu, firmly opposing bail. They argued that the gravity of the offenses, which could lead to imprisonment upon conviction, necessitated continued detention.

During a separate but incomplete bail hearing for another suspect, Fungai Chikonyora, charged with both violating the Exchange Control Act and money laundering, the prosecution disclosed alarming details of the operations. According to the State’s account, on April 12, Mr. Alexio Chideme of Pito Investments (Pvt) Ltd sought to exchange ZiGs for U.S. dollars. Chideme, who was directed to Chikonyora through an intermediary, was reportedly duped after transferring ZiG340,000 into a company account for an agreed amount of U.S. dollars that he never received.

The evidence laid out against several of the accused includes possession of significant amounts of cash, bank cards, swipe machines, and mobile phones used for the illicit transactions.

The court is set to resume today, with further testimonies from investigating officers expected to shed more light on the intricate web of illegal currency trading. The legal outcomes of these hearings could set precedents for how similar cases are handled in the future amid increasing crackdowns on economic crimes in Zimbabwe. Mavhura and Kaunda, meanwhile, have been remanded in custody until May 14 as the judiciary continues to process the remaining cases.

Time For Action Is Now…

By A Correspondent

In a stirring call for action, former MDC Alliance and CCC Youth Assembly spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, has urged Zimbabweans to confront head-on the authoritarian rule of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Speaking out against the entrenched dictatorship, Chuma’s words resonate as a rallying cry for change in a nation grappling with political oppression and economic turmoil.

Chuma released a brief statement on Monday.

Chuma’s impassioned plea for decisive action echoes the sentiments of many disillusioned Zimbabweans who refuse to remain passive in the face of oppression.

He challenges his fellow citizens to envision a different path, one where complacency is replaced by courage and determination.

His words, delivered with conviction, serve as a wake-up call to a nation on the brink of despair.

“Imagine dai during the liberation struggle if people were just folding hands waiting for Robert Mugabe & Joshua Nkomo to liberate them?” Chuma exclaimed.

“Surely Ian Smith’s ‘not in a 1000 years’ would have been fulfilled. We can’t relegate our struggle to Nelson Chamisa alone!”

With each word, Chuma underscores the urgency of the situation, drawing parallels between the struggles of the past and the challenges of the present.

His message is clear: the fight for freedom and justice requires the active participation of all Zimbabweans, not just a select few.

“Why are you quiet Zimbabwe when you don’t have electricity?” Chuma implores.

“Potholes, ZiG, corruption, inflation, vote rigging, abductions etc will never end if you remain silent fellow citizens.

Mnangagwa can’t have his cake and eat it too! We just can’t allow this rot to continue!”

Mnangagwa’s Incompetence Leaves People with Disabilities Homeless

By A Correspondent

In a distressing turn of events, eighteen individuals with disabilities (PWD) and other vulnerable persons find themselves homeless after being forcibly evicted from agricultural land they had occupied for 16 years in Chiredzi.

The eviction, orchestrated by a court ruling on January 25, 2024, has left members of the Nhakayavatema Co-operative, many of whom are disabled, stranded and destitute.

The ruling, issued by Magistrate Vimbai Mutukwa, followed an application for eviction by a lawyer named Daison Chirima, who claims ownership of the disputed land.

Despite possessing legitimate documents indicating their right to the land, including approval from the former Chiredzi Town Council Environmental Officer, Edson Nyadenga, the co-operative members were forcefully removed from the 2.385-hectare plot situated at SD33 Hippo Valley North.

Chimbidzikayi Dzinavatonga, chairman of the co-operative and an amputee who relies on crutches, expressed the dire situation faced by the evicted members.

He recounted how the land, allocated to them by Zanu PF in 2008, served as their sole source of livelihood through farming activities. However, since the eviction, many are now forced to beg for survival, with some resorting to makeshift shelters at bus ranks and street pavements.

Despite possessing documented evidence of their right to the land, including a letter of approval from the Chiredzi Town Council allowing them to cultivate various crops using community wastewater, the co-operative finds itself displaced and abandoned.

Efforts to seek intervention from relevant authorities, including the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Resettlement, Anxious Masuka, have proved futile, exacerbating the plight of the evicted individuals.

The Chiredzi Town Secretary, Engineer Wesley Kauma, attributed the council’s inability to offer title deeds for the land to its ownership by Tongaat Huletts.

However, he acknowledged the council’s past approval for the co-operative’s agricultural projects on the basis of recycling effluent water, further complicating the legal intricacies surrounding the eviction.

What is particularly alarming is the apparent lack of action or intervention from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration in addressing the crisis faced by the vulnerable members of society.

Despite the co-operative’s legitimate claim to the land and the humanitarian urgency of the situation, Mnangagwa’s silence speaks volumes about the government’s indifference towards the plight of its citizens, especially those with disabilities.

As the eviction crisis unfolds, it highlights broader issues of land rights, accessibility, and social justice in Zimbabwe.

The disregard for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities underscores systemic failures and underscores the urgent need for inclusive policies and proactive measures to protect the most vulnerable members of society.

In the absence of meaningful intervention, the evicted members of the Nhakayavatema Co-operative remain in limbo, grappling with homelessness, hunger, and uncertainty about their future.

Their plight serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by marginalized communities in Zimbabwe and the pressing need for decisive action to uphold their rights and dignity.

UK Slaps Sanctions On Uganda’s Speaker Of Parliament

By Farai D Hove | The UK has imposed sanctions on three Ugandan politicians, including the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, for corruption involving the misappropriation of resources meant for Uganda’s poorest communities. Deputy Foreign Secretary Andrew Mitchell announced the travel bans and asset freezes today, marking the first use of the UK’s Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions regime against Ugandan individuals.

The sanctions target former ministers Mary Goretti Kitutu and Agnes Nandutu, accused of stealing construction materials from a government project in the impoverished Karamoja region.

This move underscores the UK’s commitment to combating global corruption, following previous sanctions in countries like Bulgaria, South Africa, and Venezuela.

  • UK imposes sanctions on Ugandan politicians including the Speaker of Parliament following corruption charges for stealing from the poorest communities in Uganda.
  • This is the first time the UK has used the Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions regime on individuals involved in corruption in Uganda.
  • New sanctions are part of the UK’s continued effort to crack down on serious corruption around the world.

Deputy Foreign Secretary, Andrew Mitchell, has announced sanctions on high profile Ugandan politicians charged with corruption, and the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, today (30 April).

It is the first time the UK government has used the Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions regime on individuals involved in corruption in Uganda.

The three individuals, two of whom were previously ministers responsible for Uganda’s poorest region, Karamoja, and have been charged with corruption at Uganda’s Anti-Corruption Court, will be subject to travel bans and asset freezes.

The two former ministers sanctioned – Mary Goretti Kitutu and Agnes Nandutu – stole thousands of iron sheets used for roofing and infrastructure from a Ugandan government-funded project aimed at housing some of the most vulnerable communities in the region, providing them to prominent politicians and their families instead.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Anita Annet Among, benefited from the proceeds.

Over 60% of people in Karamoja live in poverty and many suffer from the devastating impacts of drought and insecurity.

Deputy Foreign Secretary, Andrew Mitchell, said:

The actions of these individuals, in taking aid from those who need it most, and keeping the proceeds, is corruption at its worst and has no place in society. The Ugandan courts are rightly taking action to crack down on those politicians who seek to line their own pockets at their constituents’ expense.

Today the UK is sending a clear message to those who think benefiting at the expense of others is acceptable. Corruption has consequences and you will be held responsible.

 The three individuals sanctioned:

  • Anita Annet Among, who has been the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda since 2022.
  • Mary Goretti Kitutu, who was the Minister for Karamoja Affairs between 2021 and 2024.
  • Agnes Nandutu, who was the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs between 2021 and 2024.

These measures follow previous UK sanctions under the Global Anti-Corruption sanctions regime, which has targeted individuals involved in serious corruption cases across the world, including Bulgaria, Lebanon, Moldova, Russia, South Africa, South Sudan, and Venezuela.

Since its introduction in April 2021, the UK has introduced sanctions on 42 individuals and entities under this regime globally to combat corruption across the world.

Background

  • An asset freeze prevents any UK citizen, or any business in the UK, from dealing with any funds or economic resources which are owned, held or controlled by the designated person and which are held in the UK. It will also prevent funds or economic resources being provided to or for the benefit of the designated person or entity
  • A travel ban means that the designated person is an excluded person under section 8B of the Immigration Act 1971, and must be refused leave to enter or to remain in the United Kingdom (any leave given to a person who is an excluded person is invalid).
  • Under the UK’s Global Anti-Corruption sanctions regulations 2021, individuals and entities anywhere in the world can be sanctioned for their involvement in bribery or misappropriation of property involving a foreign public official.
  • This could include those who facilitate, profit from or try to cover up serious corruption, as well as making efforts to prevent authorities from carrying out justice for these actions.
  • UK Aid was not involved in the Ugandan Government project.

Mo Salah Not Leaving Liverpool

Liverpool have confirmed their stance on Mohamed Salah’s future as the player will enter the final 12 months of his contract in July.

The Egyptian star’s future was thrown into major doubt after he was involved in a touchline row with coach Jurgen Klopp in the 2-2 draw against West Ham and speculation suggested the club could be tempted to sell him.

However, according to the English outlet, The Guardian, the Reds hierarchy remain relaxed over the incident and expect the forward to stay next season.

The publication adds that Liverpool expect him to remain an important part of their plans under Arne Slot, who is close to being confirmed as Klopp’s successor.

And the bosses view the touchline spat as a sign of Salah’s unhappiness at being dropped after the derby defeat at Everton rather than evidence of wider discontent.

The 32-year-old is earning £350,000 a week and the Anfield side could try to extend the deal rather than lose him on a free in 2025.

Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also enter the final 12 months of their contracts this summer and the incoming sporting director, Richard Hughes, will be tasked with securing their long-term futures.

ZiG Mari Unveiled

Anticipation and speculation surround the launch of Zimbabwe’s new currency, ZiG, as the nation awaits its potential impact on the economy.

Zimbabweans have begun receiving the newly introduced Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) notes and coins from banks, with hopes pinned on currency stability, streamlined transactions, and value preservation.

As banks in Harare began distributing the fresh notes and coins on Tuesday morning, there’s a palpable sense of optimism that this move will offer a lasting solution to currency-related woes.

Many depositors arrived early to partake in transactions, signaling a positive reception to Zimbabwe Gold as the country embraces currency reforms.

“People are eager to see the promises made during the currency launch being upheld,” remarked one citizen.

Another expressed, “I’m relieved that the currency is now in circulation; let’s observe its performance.”

Initially accessible through electronic means upon its launch on the 5th of this month, the introduction of physical notes and coins is expected to ease transactions alongside other major currencies.

Challenges with informal currency traders have been noted, with some attributing disruptions to their activities.

To manage currency circulation, monetary authorities have set weekly cash withdrawal limits at 3,000 ZiG for individuals and 30,000 ZiG for companies.

The central bank assures that the new currency is backed by a combination of gold and other precious minerals, along with foreign currency reserves.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) reports reserves exceeding US$100 million, including 2.5 tonnes of gold valued at US$185 million.

Chiwenga, Iranian President In Secret Talks

Zvishavane Businessman In Shocking Night Burial

By Showbiz Reporter- A well-known Zvishavane businessman, Evans Kujinga, shocked local people after he was buried at 8 PM.

Somehow, those tasked with preparing his grave took the whole day to complete the task, also known as ‘Boss Kujie”, was only laid to rest around 8pm.

He was 42.

“Those who were digging the grave said they kept running into some very hard rocks and the process took the whole day,” said some sources.

“It was something which felt strange and even heavy duty equipment was brought to help the process but there was little relief.

“In the end, the process was completed during the night and burial could only be done in the dark and Boss Kujie was finally laid to rest at around 8pm.

“This is something that doesn’t happen often and one can understand why it has created such a big buzz in Zvishavane.

“Boss Kujie was a hero of the town, he loved his hometown and he donated a lot to his local community.

“He was one of the people who were bankrolling Shabanie Mine, in one way or the other, when they were still in the Premier League.

“The town lost a very good man.”

Initial reports said the Zvishavane Town Council had to offer heavy earth moving machine to help in the digging of the grave.

There has been speculation in the Zvishavane community that this was all related to juju.

However, family spokesperson, Happiness Kujinga, dismissed the speculation arguing that poor rainfall resulted in the ground becoming harder and this meant that the preparation of the grave took longer than expected.

She said the family was aware of people who were spreading rumours.

“Yes, my brother was buried late in the evening due to the hard ground since there has been poor rainfall,” said Happiness.

“We are aware that people have been spreading falsehoods, accusing my brother of using juju, that is not true.

“He was born in a Christian family and died a member of a church.

“He never used any charms to prosper but worked hard for the whole family and was our bread winner.

“My first vehicle, and other siblings’ vehicles, were from Evans, aizivikanwa nezita rekuti ‘Mudavanhu’ nekuti wakanga asingasarudzi.”

She added:

“Even revellers at bars and nightclubs enjoyed beers bought by Boss Evans.

Makorokozo ose emuZvishavane came in their numbers to witness the burial of a man who helped them so much and we appreciate the good name left by Evans.

“The ground was too hard to dig and Town officials offered us an TLB but we refused considering that it would affect the surrounding graves at the cemetery.

“Among the graves included were Boss Evans’ parents and he was buried close to their graves.

Zvekuromba izvo ndezvevanhu vanongoda kusvibisa nekuchemedza hama dziripakuchema.”

Boss Kujie had a number of business interests in Harare and Zvishavane.

He was also a whistle-blower who was an informant in over 80 cases and largely dealt with the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.

Madzibaba Ishmael Faces Fresh Rape Charges

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Leader of the Johanne Masowe Penyera Nyika, Madzibaba Ishmael, real name Ishmael Chokurongerwa, has been slapped with fresh charges and when he appeared again at the Norton Magistrates’ Court.

Chokurongerwa (54) was arrested several weeks ago together with other seven members of his sect. They were charged with violating the Burial and Children’s Act, respectively.

He is now facing five counts of “having sexual intercourse with a minor”. Prosecutors allege that Chokurongerwa engaged in sexual relations with 5 minors between 2018 and 2024. These are

a) 15-year-old, resulting in the birth of an infant

b) 13-year-old, resulting in the birth of 1 infant

c) 14-year-old with whom he now has two children

d) 15-year-old with whom he has a child

e) 16-year-old, resulting in the birth of another infant.

Chokurongerwa was last week granted bail by the High Court after spending almost two months in remand prison on previous charges.

The Court ruled that there was no longer any risk that Madzibaba Ishmael would interfere with witnesses, hence the decision to grant him bail.

Apart from an order to deposit US$ 1,000 with the clerk of court Norton Magistrstes’ Court, the High Court also barred Chokurongerwa from conducting any church gatherings anywhere until the matter is finalised.

He was also ordered not to interfere with witnesses directly or indirectly until the matter is finalised and to report to the police three times a week.

Chokurongerwa’s co-accused; Shingirai Ngawafune (42), Takavengwa Gwenzi (55), Zebedia Sigudu (49), Devlodge Katsande (47), Wonder Kabaya (41), and Siribinio Chikurunhe (53) were granted bail early this month by the Harare High Court.

The trial for all eight individuals will commence on May 7, 2024, at the Norton Magistrates’ Court.

The State alleges that Chokurongerwa and his associates conducted funeral services for Hazel Chikunhire and Winlet Kabaya without obtaining proper burial orders for the deceased.

Furthermore, the sect leaders, who acted as guardians for the children residing at the church’s compound in Nyabira, are accused of neglecting, abandoning, and exposing the children to conditions likely to cause unnecessary suffering

Embracing Plant Life For Greener Future

Mnangagwa Admits CIO Formation Aimed at Consolidating Zanu PF Power

By A Correspondent

Speaking at the burial ceremony of NYASHA NASH DZIMIRI, GRACE TSITSI JADAGU, and BRIGADIER GENERAL SHADRECK VEZHA at the National Heroes Acre in Harare, Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa confessed to the true intentions behind the formation of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).

According to Mnangagwa, the CIO is a tool to strengthen Zanu PF’s authority.

Mnangagwa’s words on Monday echoed with historical weight as he openly admitted, “Upon ceasefire in 1980 I formed the CIO and I needed reliable officers like the late Cde Dzimiri.”

This statement unveils a strategic move made by Mnangagwa to establish a covert organization aimed at solidifying the ruling party’s grip on power in Zimbabwe.

Highlighting the role of Dzimiri, Mnangagwa emphasized his reliability and dedication, traits that were essential for the covert operations of the CIO.

“Cde Dzimiri was attested into the CIO in 1983 where he rose through the ranks to become Director.

He was always ready for any assignment, a trait which must continue within our security sector and civil service,” Mnangagwa remarked, underlining the importance of loyalty to the regime.

In his address, Mnangagwa also emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting youth and women in Zimbabwe, calling upon them to work diligently for the country’s advancement.

“As the Second Republic, we took it upon ourselves to promote our youth and women.

I call upon our women to work diligently for their country. We all have a duty to defend our country,” he stated, signaling a continued focus on achieving the national vision for 2030.

Acknowledging the contributions of the fallen heroes, Mnangagwa praised their selflessness and dedication to the nation.

“The heroes played their part. The ZIG is our national currency and a symbol of our dignity. I call upon our officers and our people to draw up the traits of selflessness which were in the late heroes to be laid to rest today,” he affirmed, urging the populace to embody the virtues of the departed.

Mnangagwa also mourned the loss of General VEZHA, who was poised to assume a significant role as defense attaché in Tanzania before his untimely demise.

Despite the setback, Mnangagwa reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to national development through initiatives like “education 5.0.”

Reflecting on recent diplomatic engagements, Mnangagwa referenced the visit of the Kenyan President to Zimbabwe for the official opening of ZITF (Zimbabwe International Trade Fair), urging vigilance from the intelligence, defense, and security sectors.

Mnangagwa bid farewell to the fallen comrades with the traditional Shona salutation, “ZORORAI magamba edu,” expressing a wish for them to rest in eternal peace.

His candid acknowledgment of the CIO’s origins as a tool for consolidating Zanu PF power offers a rare glimpse into the political machinations of Zimbabwe’s ruling elite, underscoring the complex interplay between security, politics, and power in the country’s history.

Let’s Confront Mnangagwa Head-on, Chamisa Aide Rallies Nation

Jet Fumes Climate Change Warning Issued By IATA

Urgent Call for Action on Aviation Contrails and Climate Impact

Geneva, April 30, 2024 – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has issued a pressing call to deepen understanding and develop effective mitigation measures for aviation contrails’ formation and climate impact. In their newly released report, *Aviation Contrails and their Climate Effect: Tackling Uncertainties and Enabling Solutions*, IATA emphasizes the need for enhanced collaboration between research, technological innovation, and policy frameworks.

“The industry and its stakeholders are working to address the impact of non-CO2 emissions on climate change, particularly contrails. To ensure that this effort is effective and without adverse effects, we must better understand how and where contrails form and shrink the uncertainties related to their climate impact,” said Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General.

The report underscores the complexity of contrail science, pointing out significant gaps in understanding their formation, persistence, and impact on climate. Insufficient high-resolution, real-time data on atmospheric conditions at cruising altitudes, particularly humidity and temperature, poses a significant challenge to precise contrail forecasting.

“Action now means more trials, collection of more data, improvement of climate models, and maturing technologies and operations. Formulating and implementing regulations based on insufficient data and limited scientific understanding is foolish and could lead to adverse impacts on the climate,” Walsh added.

Recommendations:
– Immediate Term (2024-2030): Focus on reducing CO2 emissions while increasing airline participation in sensor programs and improving climate models.
– Mid-Term Actions (2030-2040): Establish standards for data transmission, validate models continuously, and encourage aircraft manufacturers to include provisions for meteorological observations.
– Longer-Term Actions (2040-2050): Ensure continuous data provision from aircraft, enhance understanding of non-CO2 effects of alternative fuels, and extend mitigation measures.

Background on Aviation’s Non-CO2 Emissions:
Aviation’s impact on climate extends beyond CO2 emissions, with contrails and nitrogen oxides contributing to global warming. Contrails, in particular, have a warming effect on the climate, but significant uncertainties exist in predicting their formation and specific climate impact.

Initiatives and Trials:
Recent collaborations have yielded insights into the need for enhanced data collection and analysis. Trials with modified flight paths and alternative fuels have shown potential, but efficacy remains limited due to atmospheric variability.

Technological Advances and Future Directions:
Advancements in humidity sensors are critical for contrail prediction and avoidance strategies. Ongoing research aims to develop more accurate and scalable solutions.

About the Report:
Aviation Contrails and their Climate Effect* is available on IATA’s website and will be discussed at the upcoming IATA Annual General Meeting in Dubai, 2-4 June. The report was developed in collaboration with various organizations and companies, highlighting the industry-wide effort to address the climate impact of aviation.

Mnangagwa Administration Unveils ZiG Mari Today

Basic Commodities Prices Rise, As ZiG Collapses

By Business Reporter- The prices of basic commodities continue to rise, raising annual inflation for April 2024 to 57,5%, up from 55,34% in March 2024.

This is happening despite the government’s introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, which was expected to stabilise prices and exchange rates.

The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) on Monday said the year-on-year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for April 2024 as measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 57,5%. It said:

This means that prices as measured by the all items CPI, increased by an average of 57,5% between April 2023 and April 2024.

The month-on-month inflation rate was 2.9%percent in April 2024, shedding 2% on the March 2024 rate of 4,9%.

This means that prices as measured by the all items CPI, increased by an average of 2,9% between March 2024 and April 2024.

ZIMSTAT also said the month-on-month Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages inflation rate was 4.2 per cent in April 2024, shedding 3.9 percentage points on the March 2024 rate of 8.1 per cent.

The April 2024 month-on-month non-food inflation rate was 2,4% shedding 0.6%on the March 2024 rate of 3%.

The Food Poverty Line (FPL) for one person in April 2024 was ZiG424.95, while one person’s Total Consumption Poverty Line (TCPL) was ZiG 650.26 in April 2024.

According to ZIMSTAT, the month-on-month USD inflation rate for April 2024, was 0.8%, gaining 0.6 percentage points on the March 2024 rate of 0.2%.

The year-on-year USD inflation rate for the month of April 2024, as measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 3.2%.

The agency also said for the month of April 2024, the CPI for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels had the highest contribution to the month-on-month change in index (inflation rate) of 0.4%.

Zanu PF Threatens Zim Democratic Discourse

By A Correspondent| The death of the main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) with the ruling Zanu PF party claiming all seats post-August 2023 harmonised elections is threatening the democratic discourse in Zimbabwe, analysts have said.

In various interviews, political commentators and actors this week bemoaned the country’s gravitation towards a one-party State.

Zanu PF is seemingly devouring the opposition parties since the general elections last year dominating by-elections held since December last year.

The Zimbabwean electorate has been left disillusioned by the political turmoil after self-imposed CCC interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu recalled more than 20 opposition legislators, virtually aiding Zanu PF towards a two-thirds parliamentary majority.

Zanu PF took two more seats from the CCC after the by-elections held in Harare East and Mt Pleasant last weekend.

According to Zimbabwe Election Support Network (Zesn), voter apathy marred the by-elections.

“The voter turnout in both by-elections was very low with Harare East constituency recording a turnout of 15,2%, and Mount Pleasant constituency recorded an 11,6% turnout,” Zesn said.

“Members of the public are encouraged to fully utilise their constitutionally guaranteed civil and political rights by, among other things, participating in voting when elections are conducted.”

Political analysts who spoke to NewsDay bemoaned the dearth of opposition politics after the recent by-elections.

Mass Public Opinion Institute director Eldred Masunungure said the post-2023 elections developments in the political arena signalled a full-scale regression to the post-Unity Accord decade.

He said the decade between 1988 and 1999 represented a period when Zimbabwe was effectively a de facto one-party system.

“Zanu PF (then) enjoyed a supermajority in the then one-chamber Parliament. Though this is happening within a de jure multi-party constitutional framework, having a pliant opposition is still inimical to democratic governance and entrenches the practice of a rubber-stamping Parliament rather than encouraging robust debate in the Legislature,” he said.

Masunungure said the opposition in Zimbabwe had become more of an appendage of the ruling party that routinely agreed even on matters that is at variance with the public interest.

“In short, it’s dark days in Zimbabwe for critical democratic discourse,” he said.

Professor of World Politics at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies Stephen Chan said Zanu PF had achieved its objective of creating a strong one-party State.

“Zanu PF has accomplished its aim of creating a dominant party State, with a tame or ineffectual opposition held up to the outside world as evidence of democracy.

“It is the Singapore model and it has been achieved by faulty elections and judicially-aided sabotage. I do not expect any effective opposition fight-back against this state of affairs in the near or medium-term future,” he said.

Another political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya described the situation as “pretty ugly”.

“However, just like (former President Robert) Mugabe’s obsession with one party state-ism in the 1980s and 1990s, ED’s will eventually collapse.

“The ‘opposition’ is not an institutional or personal phenomenon. No, it is a national collective ethos embedded in progressive Zimbabweans. The phoenix of opposition will rise again, hopefully, not violently,” he said.

However, CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi said they would never allow Zimbabwe to become a one-party State.

He said the opposition movement would soon announce a programme of action to restore legitimacy in the country.

“We will never allow a one-party State to subsist in Zimbabwe. We are seized with rebuilding the authentic alternative on the ground following the hijacking of the CCC by Mnangagwa using Tshabangu.

“In the coming days, weeks, and months we are going to unveil a political programme of action to demand Zimbabwe to return to legitimacy, competitive and multiparty democracy,” he said.

But Zanu PF director for information, Farai Marapira, defended the current political arena in Zimbabwe.

“Our democracy has never been healthier than it is now. Zimbabweans are now voting based on results and not the on basis of hatred with dominant opposition politics.

“If anything, the current results in the by-elections show that our politics have matured. Voters are now voting for sound politics and ideas.

“If the opposition does not shift from the politics of hate it will continue to sink into the abyss,” he said.

Mnangagwa In ZiG Nightmares

By Business Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa shocked the nation yesterday when he said that Zimbabweans have fully embraced the recently introduced useless Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG).

In a nation already burdened with economic turmoil, Mnangagwa’s recent endorsement of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) as a national currency has further plunged Zimbabweans into uncertainty and despair.

Launched with much fanfare on April 5, the ZiG was touted as a solution to the country’s currency woes. However, instead of instilling confidence, it has only intensified scepticism and hardship.

From its inception, the ZiG has been plagued with glaring inadequacies. Despite Mnangagwa’s assertions of national unity in adopting the ZiG, the reality on the ground tells a different story.

Zimbabweans, far from embracing this new currency, have met it with widespread resistance and disdain. Their scepticism is not unfounded, as the ZiG’s value has plummeted even before it could gain traction in the economy.

One of the most damning indictments against the ZiG is its inability to function as a viable medium of exchange. Shockingly, it fails even the most basic test – purchasing fuel.

This critical flaw renders it virtually useless in a nation heavily reliant on fuel for transportation and industry. Compounding matters, the government itself refuses to acknowledge the ZiG as legal tender for essential services such as taxes and passport fees.

In essence, Mnangagwa’s brainchild is crippled from the outset, lacking the fundamental utility necessary for a functioning currency.

Mnangagwa’s misguided optimism reached its zenith during a Monday address at the National Heroes Acre, where he commended Zimbabweans for embracing the ZiG.

However, his praise rings hollow in the face of mounting evidence of the currency’s failure.

Rather than celebrating, Zimbabweans are grappling with the harsh reality of a currency that holds little value and even less promise for their economic well-being.

The introduction of ZiG notes and coins was meant to herald a new era of economic stability.

Yet, far from instilling confidence, it has only exacerbated the prevailing sense of uncertainty.

With cash withdrawal limits set at ZiG3,000 for individuals and ZiG30,000 for corporations, Mnangagwa’s administration appears out of touch with the everyday struggles of ordinary citizens.

Behind the facade of optimism lies a grim reality – the Zimbabwean economy is in freefall. Mnangagwa’s decision to replace the Zimbabwe dollar (RTGS and bond notes) with the ZiG has done little to halt the rapid depreciation of the nation’s currency.

Despite claims of substantial reserves, including US$100 million in foreign currency and 2.5 tonnes of gold valued at US$185 million, the economic outlook remains bleak.

As Zimbabweans grapple with the harsh realities of daily life, Mnangagwa’s ill-conceived economic gamble has only added to their burden.

In a nation crying out for visionary leadership and pragmatic solutions, the ZiG stands as a stark reminder of Mnangagwa’s incapacity to navigate the complexities of economic governance.

Unless decisive action is taken to address the root causes of Zimbabwe’s economic woes, the nightmares of the ZiG are set to haunt the nation for years to come.

Chiwenga Scores Useless Diplomatic Victory

By A Correspondent

In a so called diplomatic triumph, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has successfully negotiated the removal of visa requirements for Zimbabwean travelers visiting Iran.

This landmark agreement, announced by the government, signifies a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

“With effect from February this year, any ordinary passport-carrying Zimbabwean can travel to Iran without the need for a visa,” a government spokesperson stated.

This development opens up new avenues for Zimbabweans interested in exploring business opportunities or experiencing Iran’s rich cultural heritage through tourism.

The removal of visa restrictions marks a tangible outcome of Vice Chiwenga’s diplomatic mission to Iran, where he engaged in talks with the country’s President.

His efforts have paved the way for easier access to Iran, fostering closer ties between the two nations.

In addition to facilitating travel, Iran also extends educational opportunities to Zimbabwean students through scholarships.

This initiative underscores the mutual commitment to strengthening people-to-people connections and fostering academic exchange between Zimbabwe and Iran.

While this diplomatic achievement is commendable, questions linger regarding its potential impact on the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

Beyond the realm of diplomatic triumphs, the crucial test lies in whether such agreements translate into tangible benefits for the citizens of Zimbabwe.

Critics and skeptics alike are scrutinizing the outcomes of these negotiations, questioning whether they will translate into improved livelihoods and opportunities for Zimbabweans.

While easier access to Iran holds promise for business ventures and cultural exchange, the true measure of success will be its ability to positively impact the daily lives of Zimbabweans.

In response to these queries, Chiwenga emphasized the significance of diplomatic engagements in creating opportunities for Zimbabweans.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to pursuing initiatives that prioritize the welfare and prosperity of its citizens.

As Zimbabweans reflect on this diplomatic feat, the spotlight remains on how such agreements will be leveraged to drive socio-economic development and empower the populace.

Beyond the removal of visa requirements, the challenge lies in harnessing the potential of bilateral relations to address pressing issues and unlock opportunities for growth.

Chiwenga’s so called successful negotiation of visa-free travel to Iran marks a notable achievement in diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and Iran.

However, the ultimate test lies in ensuring that such agreements translate into tangible benefits for Zimbabweans, contributing to their well-being and prosperity.

As the nation looks towards the future, the efficacy of these diplomatic endeavors will be measured by their ability to foster inclusive growth and enhance the quality of life for all citizens.

Hopewell Chin’ono Speaks On Presidential Ambitions

By A Correspondent| Controversial journalist-cum-political commentator Hopewell Chin’ono has dismissed claims that he plans to run for presidency in the 2028 Presidential elections.

Posting on X, Chin’ono confirmed receiving a call from the South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) enquiring about the claims.

“Today, I received a call from an SABC television producer asking me about a 2028 Presidential campaign that I am supposedly working on.

“I want to make it categorically clear that I have no intention whatsoever of running for the presidency, and I am not working on anyone’s presidential campaign, nor will I be doing so for 2028. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you, and you should treat them as such,” said Chin’ono.

“I have verified social media handles that I use to make public pronouncements about my immediate and future intentions.

“Don’t believe what you hear about any plans if it is not on my social media handles, all of which are verified.

“I am a journalist, documentary filmmaker, and anti-corruption activist. That is my turf and professional terrain. I have no intention of being a politician or working for one, I have said this countless times.

“I know that I have many folks who don’t sleep day and night, trying to destroy my professional reputation and are desperate for me to declare that I am joining politics so that they have a better chance to taint me. There won’t be such luck for them anytime soon because I will never run for public office.

“We must understand that we can all do our bit for a better Zimbabwe in our respective professions without going into politics. That is a choice I made a long time ago, and it has not changed.

“Please be guided accordingly. I don’t do frontline politics; I do journalism, filmmaking, anti-corruption work, and of course, goat farming.”

“Chivhayo Is The Poorest Man In Zimbabwe”

By Tendai Reuben Mbofana| When I read a recent diatribe by self-proclaimed businessman Wicknell Chivayo, I felt like puking.

He exhibited zero shame berating and disparaging legendary musician Thomas Mapfumo, as well as fearless activists Job Sikhala and Hopewell Chin’ono.

The focus of his vicious and quite frankly uncalled for attacks on these great men was what he perceived as their weaker financial status as compared to himself.

He unashamedly mocked Mapfumo’s supposed ‘destitution’ in the US where he is based.

Chivayo went further by declaring Chin’ono as a ‘half-witted and failed pseudo-journalist’.

As if he had not disgraced himself enough, he proceeded to poke fun at Sikhala’s solitary confinement during his two-year unjust and unconstitutional incarceration.

I would have ordinarily ignored this rant as the ravings of a man harbouring some issues.

Nevertheless, what I found most disturbing is how some people appear to believe that financial wealth is everything.

I am a social justice advocate and writer myself who has faced many financial difficulties due to the nature of my work, with which many employers may be reluctant to associate.

In fact, I lost a very lucrative job with an NGO in South Africa after rejecting their ultimatum to either stop my writings or lose my employment.

This was because the organization was also involved in humanitarian work in Zimbabwe, and as such, feared that my writings would lead to conflict with the ZANU PF regime.

Today, I still face the same challenges, whereby I have lost many opportunities due to my fearless social justice advocacy.

Why did I choose my writings – which did not earn me any money – over a well-paying job?

As much as it was a tough decision to make – on account of my dire economic situation – my love for the suffering people of Zimbabwe automatically took first preference.

There was no way I was to choose living a life of comfort and pleasure whilst the ordinary people of Zimbabwe endured unimaginable poverty and oppression with no one to speak for them.

Standing up and speaking out for the suffering gave (and still gives) me more satisfaction and fulfilment in my life, which no amount of money could ever buy.

Even today, I go to bed with a contented heart whenever I have spoken for the impoverished, or my work has actually borne positive results for the marginalized.

There is nothing that gives me greater joy than receiving a message or phone call – from the people I would have assisted in their grievances against authorities – expressing gratitude for ensuring that the issues were resolved.

What can beat that?

Is there any way I can ever derive the same satisfaction and fulfilment from having a donated lavish house and car from a character as Chivayo meant to silence me?

Would I ever be able to sleep comfortably at night, even in the most expensive mansion, knowing that there were millions of suffering Zimbabweans out there who now had no one to speak out for them?

Never!

It would be more appreciated to receive assistance from well-meaning individuals or entities that will actually support us in our advocacy work.

I have used my own life experience, but I know fully well that this also applies to Mapfumo, Chin’ono, and Sikhala.

As a matter of fact, I was invited by Sikhala to his home in St Mary’s (Chitungwiza) a month ago – soon after his release from his unjust and unconstitutional incarceration.

I had the opportunity to know who he really was.

This is a man who would never exchange the harrowing experience he had in prison for a life where he no longer had to speak out and stand up for the oppressed people of Zimbabwe.

In our conversation and from seeing with my own eyes the real Sikhala, it was so easy to tell his genuine devotion and passion for the ordinary citizenry.

In fact, in spite of the fact that he is a renowned lawyer, he elected to stay in a high density suburb – ‘with the people’, as he proudly told me.

I had never met a more humble person like Sikhala.

So, on what basis would someone like Chivayo ridicule him, or Mapfumo, or Chin’ono?

Actually, if indeed Mapfumo is truly struggling financially in the US, was this not as a result of Chivayo’s own political party (ZANU PF) threats, which drove him into exile?

Is Chivayo pleased with himself that his masters in the Zimbabwe regime can hound a legend like Mapfumo out of his own country?

This is the same man he (Chivayo) claimed he wanted to present a lavish house and car in recognition for his (Mapfumo’s) contribution towards Zimbabwe’s independence.

Is it not a huge shame that our post-independence leaders are the ones who have turned into our oppressors – even persecuting those who ‘contributed to Zimbabwe’s independence’?

What was Mapfumo’s crime?

Merely singing that the country that was fought for by thousands had been reduced to tatters by a corrupt ruling elite?

What was Chin’ono’s crime when he was also jailed and placed into solitary confinement – something which Chivayo similarly celebrated?

Exposing this same despicable corruption, particularly at the hands of those in power – which has destroyed a once prosperous country that Mapfumo had helped liberate.

So, in the mind of Chivayo, this suffering in the quest to bring justice and a better life for the people of Zimbabwe is worth mocking?

What has he done for these same poverty-stricken people?

In all the dishing out of expensive cars to musicians, has he ever donated even a single paracetamol or exercise book to our rundown public hospitals and schools?

Does he feel like such a big man by driving around in flashy vehicles whilst the ordinary citizenry languish in unbearable poverty?

According to WFP (World Food Program), the latest statistics show that 5.4 million Zimbabweans face hunger this month.

What is Chivayo doing for these people?

Yet, those he views as ‘half-witted and failed pseudo-journalists’ are at least highlighting these suffering people’s sorrowful plight.

Those like Sikhala, whom he is mocking for spending time in solitary confinement, have endured this persecution for standing up for those crying under ZANU PF misrule.

Just as I have personally experienced, Sikhala, Chin’ono, and Mapfumo are getting satisfaction and fulfilment from what they are doing for the people of Zimbabwe.

Whether they are poor or not, whether they are jailed or not – their lives have meaning and purpose.

Can we surely say the same about Chivayo?

Is he genuinely happy swimming in his wealth?

In fact, is all this dishing out of expensive cars and flaunting of his riches for all to see not a sign of an empty sad man desperate for some attention and validation?

I can dare say Chivayo is, in fact, the poorest man in Zimbabwe!

Doing what one gives you satisfaction and fulfilment is the real wealth.

Is that not what Maslow’s hierarchy of needs also shows – with self-actualization (which includes experiencing purpose and meaning) at the very top?

Chivayo’s quest for wealth – property, shelter, clothing, amongst others – are at the bottom!

Granted, we all need money to survive – but definitely not at the expense of the people of Zimbabwe.

Ruto Off With Zimbabwean Cattle

Kenyan Government to Import Simmental Cattle from Zimbabwe: Boost for Local Farmers

In a significant development aimed at bolstering agricultural ties between Kenya and Zimbabwe, the government of Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto has initiated plans to import Simmental cattle from Zimbabwean farmers. This move comes following President Ruto’s visit to the premier trade expo, where he expressed admiration for Zimbabwe’s livestock industry.

President Ruto, serving as the guest of honor at this year’s trade expo, officially opened the event on Saturday. During his visit, he toured various exhibition stands and was particularly impressed by the Simmental cattle showcased by prominent Matabeleland South farmer, Mr. Obert Chinhamo.

Mr. Chinhamo, whose successful enterprise operates on the outskirts of Bulawayo, caught the attention of President Ruto with his high-quality Simmental cattle. As a result of this encounter, Mr. Chinhamo and other local farmers have been approached to export 15 Simmental bulls and 40 heifers to Kenya.

Speaking about the development, Mr. Chinhamo expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “I have been contacted by a government official from Kenya who stated that the process to export our Simmental breed to that country has been initiated… I have already selected the best beasts that we will send to Kenya.”

The export of Simmental cattle to Kenya is viewed as a significant milestone that could potentially unlock vast opportunities for local farmers. It is seen as a positive outcome of the flourishing bilateral ties between Zimbabwe and Kenya.

“The Kenyan government official said they want about 15 bulls and between 30 and 40 heifers,” explained Mr. Chinhamo. “I have already contacted other Simmental breeders to select their best breeds so that together we can meet the numbers that the Kenyans want.”

Mr. Chinhamo’s journey as a farmer reflects years of dedication and hard work. From his humble beginnings selling second-hand clothes in the early ’90s to acquiring his farm in 1994, his story epitomizes resilience and determination in the face of challenges.

“I have been breeding cattle for the last 30 years,” Mr. Chinhamo shared. “When I started, I was into commercial breeding, where I would buy cattle from farmers in surrounding areas for fattening in feedlots.”

The impending export of Simmental cattle to Kenya represents not only a commercial opportunity but also a testament to the potential for collaboration and growth within Africa’s agricultural sector. As preparations for the export continue, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the positive impact this partnership will have on both countries’ agricultural landscapes.

Govt Threatens To Arrest Welshman’s Qoki Scam Type Directors

Zimbabwe Government to Arrest Illicit Land Buyers and Sellers in New Crackdown.

By Farai D Hove | In a resolute initiative to curtail the rampant illegal land transactions that have beset Zimbabwe, the government is setting the stage for stringent legal measures that will impose mandatory imprisonment for both sellers and buyers of illicit land. This policy shift was revealed by Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), during a Zimpapers-organized Land Matters Indaba held on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

Eng. Muguti underscored that under the new legal framework, both parties involved in corrupt land acquisitions would face severe consequences. “Never again should the law target only those who illegally sell land while letting the buyers go free,” he stated. This approach marks a significant policy shift aimed at dismantling the network of corruption surrounding land transactions.

The conference spotlighted the issue of illegal settlements encroaching on prime agricultural and peri-urban land. Discussions, led by dignitaries such as Professor Obert Jiri, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, covered a range of topics including land distribution, economic development, and the roles of traditional leaders.

Highlighting the severity of land crimes, Eng. Muguti proposed penalties harsher than those for stock theft, stressing the irreplaceable nature of land: “People get seven to 14 years for livestock theft. What about something that God doesn’t make anymore?”

A pertinent example of the type of illicit dealings targeted by this new crackdown is the Qoki scam, involving Professor Welshman Ncube’s organization. The Qoki scandal, which surfaced in the UK, involved deceptive practices under the guise of a community interest company, misleading numerous investors, predominantly women, into purchasing nonexistent land titles. Spearheaded by Sithule Tshuma, the scheme promised investors land ownership and development opportunities, only to entrap them in endless cycles of payments without delivering the promised land titles.

Eng. Muguti lamented past practices where land was politically weaponized, noting that such misuse had inflicted considerable damage on the nation. He criticized the historical use of land as a political campaign tool and stressed the need for rectification to prevent further exploitation.

The session also addressed the arrest of Joice Munamati, a senior government official in Manicaland, by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC). Munamati was implicated in a fraudulent sale of a 32.5-hectare plot of state land, illustrating the government’s increasing vigilance against land-related corruption.

In conclusion, Eng. Muguti called on the media to play a proactive role in exposing corrupt land deals and upholding journalistic integrity to combat the erosion of land value and ownership rights in Zimbabwe.

This policy reform signifies a crucial step towards improving land governance and combating corruption in Zimbabwe, with the government now taking a comprehensive stance against both the facilitators and beneficiaries of fraudulent land transactions.

Mnangagwa’s Hospital Has No Working X-Ray Machine Since Mugabe’s Removal In 2017

Zvishavane, a key referral hospital in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province, has been operating without a functional X-ray machine for over eight years, highlighting severe neglect in healthcare provisions in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s home village town. The equipment breakdown dates back to the political transition that saw Robert Mugabe ousted in 2017, leaving the local healthcare facility in a dire state of disrepair.

During a sobering visit last Friday, Deputy Minister of Health and Childcare, Sleiman Kwidini, expressed deep disappointment over the state of the hospital. According to reports by the MasvingoMirror, Kwidini criticized the hospital staff for their lackadaisical management of the health centre. The Deputy Minister’s remarks shed light on a range of systemic issues, from outdated equipment and poor record-keeping to a lack of essential drugs and resource mismanagement.

Local residents have voiced their distress, with complaints about the hospital staff’s casual approach to healthcare, particularly pointing out the impact on vulnerable patients. “Expecting mothers are dying from negligence,” shared one concerned resident, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

In his visit, Kwidini did not mince words about the urgency of rectifying these critical issues. “We understand that their X-ray machine has not been functioning for the past eight years. It is our duty to ensure that this is up and running. We will allocate them machines that will enable them to carry out their duties,” he assured.

Despite the longstanding neglect, there is a glimmer of hope as the Deputy Minister emphasized that infrastructure development and improving service delivery remain top priorities for the government. “Improving the quality of health care services is a top priority for Government. Several initiatives have been put into place to improve infrastructure and development in the health sector,” Kwidini stated.

Local resident Blessing Simango welcomed the minister’s visit and highlighted the daily challenges faced by the community due to the inadequate healthcare services. “We wait for long hours in the queue with nurses sleeping on duty. People die due to negligence, particularly expecting mothers,” Simango lamented.

The visit from the Deputy Minister marks a critical step toward addressing the longstanding healthcare deficiencies in Zvishavane, but the community remains wary and hopeful for swift and tangible improvements.

Lady Chevrons Dismiss UAE

THE Zimbabwe women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, proved their mettle with an eight wicket win over hosts United Arab Emirates in their 2nd match at the World Cup qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.

The win is certain to boost their chances as they prepare to take on stiffer opponents Ireland in their third match on Monday.

The Lady Chevrons recovered from their opening loss against Vanuatu in spectacular fashion, thrashing hosts UAE by 8 wickets in their second match of the World Cup qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.

United Arab Emirates won the toss and chose to bat a decision that proved to be the right one for Mary-Anne Musonda and her team.

UAE were restricted to a modest total of 105 runs for a loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

In response, Zimbabwe wasted no time in chasing down the target of 106, with openers Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano with 36 and Captain Mary-Anne Musonda with 26 putting on a brilliant partnership that laid the foundation for their emphatic victory.

Zimbabwe reached the target in just 15 overs, handing them their first win of the tournament and restoring their confidence after their opening loss.

The Lady Chevrons hope to maintain the good form when they meet familiar foes Ireland on Monday.

“The confidence is back now, I do believe we are ready for Ireland. We are going to do our homework as we have played a lot of them and we have got footage of their batters and bowlers so we just have to come up with a plan for each of them and if we execute will definitely win,” said Lady Chevrons head coach, Walter Chawaguta.

Both teams have a win each, with two points apiece, with Ireland on second position while Zimbabwe lie third.

Zimbabwe and Ireland are part of the ten nations vying for the two remaining slots for World Cup qualification to be staged in Bangladesh later this year.

Chiwenga In False Diplomatic Score

Grisly Murder In Matobo

Chamisa Aides In War Of Words

By Political Reporter- Former CCC member of Parliament for Mount Pleasant, Fadzayi Mahere, has hit back at Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart’s assertion that she and former Harare East MP Allan Norman “Rusty” Markham donated their seats to Zanu PF.

Mahere and Markham, who were elected MPs for Mt Pleasant and Harare East, respectively, in the August 2023 harmonised elections, resigned from Parliament in solidarity with the party’s former leader, Nelson Chamisa, who quit the party abruptly on 23 January this year, citing “infiltration”.

ZANU PF’s Kiven Mutimbanyoka was elected MP for Harare East and George Mashavane, also of ZANU PF, won the Mt Pleasant National Assembly seat in by-elections held on Saturday, 27, April.

Commenting on an article by an online publication asserting that the two “parliamentary seats have now gone to ZANU PF thanks to Sengezo Tshabangu”, Coltart said Mahere and Markham surrendered the seats to ZANU PF. He wrote on X (Twitter):

With respect, this isn’t factual. These seats went to Zanu because two distinguished MPs resigned of their own accord. Whilst of course, Tshabangu was a contributing factor democrats handed these seats to Zanu PF on a platter.

Added Coltart:

These seats went to ZANU PF because two distinguished MPs resigned of their own accord… Despite this utterly flawed Parliament we need to use every possible avenue to oppose tyranny.

In the absence of other viable non-violent options my own opinion, and it is just that, an opinion, is that we have no choice but to use every possible peaceful avenue to speak truth to power.

Mahere said Coltart was being “disingenuous”, reminding him of “the chronology of events” that led to the resignations which include the abduction and torture of CCC MP, Takudzwa Ngadziore by suspected State agents. Wrote Mahere:

Have you already forgotten the events that led to the resignation? Are you forgetting that whole blocs of MPs were illegally recalled? Are you forgetting that after being illegally recalled, their by-election campaigns were attacked by violent thugs? Are you forgetting that campaign team members were abducted and murdered with zero accountability?

Are you forgetting that sitting MPs were abducted and tortured while the perpetrators who were caught on video were never brought to book? Are you forgetting that our members were banned from contesting for no reason?

Are you forgetting that Zanu PF gold mafia members were then handed seats uncontested? Are you forgetting how the will of the people was desecrated in Bulawayo?

Are you forgetting that each time we took the system on in Parliament we were silenced, removed from Parliament by armed riot police and suspended?

Are you aware that they’ll only let you speak on matters that don’t offend them? Why should Zanu PF dictate who sits in Parliament?

Coltart later apologised, stating his comments were “not intended as an attack on either Mahere or Markham, both of whom are dear and trusted friends.” He said:

Yesterday my comments regarding the loss of two seats to Zanu PF in Harare spurred a vigorous debate. One thing I need to make clear is that my comments were not intended as an attack on either [Fadzayi Mahere] or Rusty Markham, both of whom are dear and trusted friends.

Ironically my comments were borne from deep sadness, concern and regret that neither of them is still in Parliament. Both are amongst the finest Parliamentarians in #Zimbabwe and our Nation is all the poorer not having them there.

However, my comments were interpreted as an attack on them and for that, I apologise unreservedly. Whilst I disagree with the policy of withdrawing from hard-won spaces in general, I shouldn’t by inference have criticized them in particular. I stress that I understand why they took their decision and my respect for them both remains undiminished.

United States of America-based opposition activist Freeman Chari accused CCC members of failing to take a principled state before the elections.

Chari said CCC could have taken a more assertive stance by rejecting the delimitation report, boycotting the elections entirely, and subsequently rejecting the election results, or resigned “en masse” in response to Tshabangu’s recall of the party’s elected representatives. Added Chari:

You had options to make hard choices but you chose the easy way out. It was wrong and it is still wrong!

Chivhayo Provokes Chiwenga

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF apologist and Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo has angered President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s deputies Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.

This happened after Chivhayo’s recent public appearances with Mnangagwa in Bulawayo.

Sources within Zanu PF, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NewsDay that Chiwenga and Mohadi were reportedly unhappy with Mnangagwa’s association with Chivayo.

They said Mnangagwa’s recent public appearances with the ex-convict had raised eyebrows within government and party leadership.

“The vice-presidents are wondering what is really happening. Actually, they are shocked. The worst thing is that President Mnangagwa is not even telling anyone what he is up to.

“It is just between him and that boy [Chivayo]. Do not be surprised to hear that he is now a minister. There are some favours being extended to Chivayo.

“Let’s just wait and see, but like I said, soon Chivayo is goingto be given a top position within the party,” the sources said.

Mnangagwa’s public appearances with Chivayo, including reportedly sharing a private jet, have allegedly only served to intensify scrutiny and fuel speculation within Zanu PF circles.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and controversial business dealings, has been seen accompanying Mnangagwa at various events.

The two have reportedly shared a private jet, further fuelling speculation about the nature of their relationship.

However, Zanu PF director of information Farai Marapira, dismissed the allegations yesterday saying Mnangagwa has an open door policy to everyone.

He said Chivayo had been supporting Mnangagwa’s vision and policies that made him successful.

“President Mnangagwa has made billionaires out of Zimbabweans through his policies. “You look at Chivayo as one of the typical examples. He has been a success because of the policies of President Mnangagwa,” Marapira said.

He said Chivayo was also supporting Mnangagwa’s philanthropic programmes.

“Chivayo is also supporting President Mnangagwa’s vision and he is ploughing back to society.

“This shows the beauty of the President Mnangagwa policies because he encourages the youth and the young to take over the reins of the economy.

“The President is open to everyone and he is open to anyone in the county. His doors are open to each and every Zimbabwean.”

He said Mnangagwa did not bar anyone from seeing him.

“Anyone who wants to see the President is open to do so. He is listening President, if he does not open doors how can he listen?”

But political analyst Tendai Ruben Mbofana said it was not surprising that Chivayo has divided Zanu PF.

“Some Zanu PF bigwigs fear that they might be left with the gravy train, the party has never been united at all but Chivayo will further divide opinion within,” he said.

Another analyst Rejoice Ngwenya weighed in saying Chivayo has imposed himself in the Zanu PF top echelons.

“There is no doubt about Chivayo involvement in Zanu PF. He has used his money to be part of the top leadership and obviously there are people who have been part of the ruling party before independence and they will definitely feel sidelined and threatened because the young man is now close to Mnangagwa,” he said.

During the Easter holiday, Chivayo reportedly breached Zanu PF and government protocol by receiving Mnangagwa at the ZCC Mbungo shrine ahead of Mohadi.

He went on to donate US$1 million to the church to finance its national projects.

Chivayo, whose source of wealth has remained a mystery, claims he cuts multi-million-dollar deals through his company, Intratrek.

He also claims that his lucrative power and energy ventures have a presence in South Africa, among other countries.

The ruling party apologist has in recent months blessed social media influencers and popular musicians with top-of-the-range vehicles and cellphones.

Thieves Steal Mnangagwa Fish

By- Zaka Police have embarked on a search for thieves who pounced at Chinorumba High School and harvested approximately 500kgs of fish from the school fish pond.

The fish were part of the Presidential Fish scheme and the school benefited from the program earlier last year (2023) as part of the preparations for hosting one of the most subscribed Zanu PF rallies in the run-up to the 2023 harmonized elections.

The fish were donated to the school through the presidential fish scheme where schools and communities with fish ponds are getting fingerlings from the government.

School head Nixon Bhenyu confirmed the incident but could not shed more light on how it happened and referred all questions to the District Schools Inspector (DSI) Samson Chidzurira.

Chidzurira confirmed having received the report from the school and said he was told that around 500kgs of fish were stolen and a police report was made.

“I don’t have intricate details of what happened but the school head informed me of the incident and the matter has since been reported to the police,” said Chidzurira.

Commenting on the matter in Zaka Development WhatsApp platform, Zaka Central legislator and Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Davis Marapira said it was disheartening that there were still people who were against development.

He also said there was need for people to put security measures on important projects like that to avoid cases of theft.

“I am sorry for the loss and this tells me that we still have people in ward 13 who are against the President’s ideas of building the country through development. However, it is also important for people to make sure they put security measures in place when we get these projects.

“Everywhere where there are important projects even at our solarized boreholes or gardens we should have security,” wrote Marapira.

He went on to pledge to replace the stolen fish with double the amount, and assured people that the perpetrators were going to be apprehended and brought to book.

“The President’s projects cannot be stopped by people who are anti-development, the thieves will be apprehended in no time. I will bring 4000 to replace the 2000 which were stolen,” Marapira wrote.

In July 2021, a fish farmer from Chinorumba area in Muhope Village under Chief Nhema was left counting losses when he lost close to 2000 breams to thieves whom he suspected to have used nets to harvest from his fish pond.

By A Correspondent

In a chilling revelation, the Zimbabwe Republic Police disclosed a heinous crime that shook the tranquility of Halale Village in Matobo.

The incident, which transpired on the 27th of April, involved the brutal stabbing of Phikisani Moyo, a 22-year-old, by Raisemore Maseko, a mere 19-year-old.

The motive behind this gruesome act? A dispute arising from a proposition of love towards the victim’s 15-year-old nephew.

Such a tragic event not only highlights the fragility of human life but also underscores the deep-seated issues of intolerance and violence within communities.

In a statement on X the Zimbabwe Republic Police said :

“Police in Matobo have arrested Raisemore Maseko (19) in connection with a case of murder in which he stabbed Phikisani Moyo (22) with a knife on the neck, back and stomach after an argument on 27/04/24 at Halale Village.

Picture : Chivayo Refuses To Wear Mnangagwa New Scarf

In a symbolic gesture that has caught the nation’s attention, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, leader of the ruling Zanu PF party, has donned a new scarf.

Many are wondering if the move is a signal of a potential shift in his leadership style.

Alongside this fashion statement, Mnangagwa’s administration has introduced a new currency, sparking hope and skepticism alike as citizens ponder whether these changes will translate into tangible improvements in their lives.

“The new scarf represents a fresh approach to leadership,” remarked a Zanu PF official, highlighting Mnangagwa’s desire to project an image of change and renewal.

Indeed, the choice of attire has become emblematic of the president’s evolving narrative, inviting speculation about the direction of his administration.

The introduction of a new currency adds another layer of significance to Mnangagwa’s latest initiatives.

Amidst economic challenges and currency instability, the decision to unveil a new monetary system signals the government’s determination to address long-standing financial woes and restore confidence in the economy.

However, as Zimbabweans cautiously observe these developments, the overarching question remains: Will Mnangagwa’s initiatives translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives?

Critics point to the complexities of Zimbabwe’s socio-economic landscape, cautioning against the belief that symbolic gestures alone can catalyze transformation.

“We need more than just a new scarf and currency; we need concrete policies and actions that address the root causes of poverty and inequality,” remarked a civil society representative.

Yet, supporters of Mr Mnangagwa remain optimistic, viewing these changes as a precursor to broader reforms aimed at uplifting the nation.

“President Mnangagwa is committed to delivering meaningful change for all Zimbabweans,” affirmed a government spokesperson, citing ongoing initiatives to revitalize key sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing.

As the nation grapples with these developments, the spotlight is on Mnangagwa’s administration to deliver on its promises and effectuate real change.

The efficacy of the new currency and the significance of the president’s symbolic gestures will ultimately be judged by their impact on the daily lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

In response to these expectations, Mnangagwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to transformative leadership.

“The new scarf and currency are symbols of our collective journey towards a better Zimbabwe,” he affirmed, signaling his resolve to steer the nation towards prosperity and stability.

Thieves Raid Mnangagwa Fish

By A Correspondent

In a bold theft, around 500 kilograms of fish vanished from Chinorumba High School in Zaka, Zimbabwe.

The stolen fish, integral to the school’s resources, were part of the Presidential Fish scheme acquired through the Presidential Rural Development Programme.

Authorities are actively pursuing the culprits who targeted the school’s fish pond, leaving behind a wake of frustration and anger, as reported by TellZim news.

Confirming the incident, school head Nixon Bhenyu stressed the urgency of bolstering security measures to safeguard such vital assets.

Expressing concern, District Schools Inspector Samson Chidzurira highlighted the significance of protecting development projects from such acts of sabotage.

In response, Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Davis Marapira, denounced the crime, pledging to replace the stolen fish and ensure justice is served.

This event underscores the persistent challenges confronting development efforts in Zimbabwe and underscores the necessity for heightened security to protect essential resources earmarked for community advancement.

Chiwenga Secures Visa-Free Travel to Iran for Zimbabweans Are You Going There?

Coltart Finally Apoligises to Markham, Fadzi But Skips Chamisa The Real Victim Of His Tshabangu-Statememts

Posting on X Monday morning, Coltart admitted that his comments regarding the Mt Pleasant and Harare East parliamentary seats which are now in Zanu PF’s hands had caused vigorous debate.

He said his comments were not an attack on Mahere and Markham but a deep concern that both of them are nolonger in what he called hard-won spaces.

“Yesterday my comments regarding the loss of two seats to Zanu PF in Harare spurred a vigorous debate. One thing I need to make clear is that my comments were not intended as an attack on either @advocatemahere or @Katazamhondoro Rusty Markham , both of whom are dear and trusted friends. Ironically my comments were borne from deep sadness, concern and regret that neither of them are still in Parliament. Both are amongst the finest Parliamentarians in #Zimbabwe and our Nation is all the poorer not having them there. However my comments were interpreted as an attack on them and for that I apologise unreservedly. Whilst I disagree with the policy of withdrawing from hard-won spaces in general, I shouldn’t by inference have criticized them in particular. I stress that I understand why they took their decision and my respect for them both remains undiminished,” said Coltart.

On Sunday, Coltart torched a political storm when he said Mahere and Markham had resigned on their accord while exonerating Tshabangu.

Pro-Chamisa members descended on him with viciousness with some labelling him a mistake while some expressed sadness that the democratic movement had lost him.

Another Top Chamisa Ally Sells-Out

By A Correspondent| Kuwadzana legislator and former MDC Alliance Secretary General Charlton Hwende has defended Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart who is under fire over comments he made on a ZimEye X post, attacking Advocate Fadzayi Mahere and Norman Markham.

Responding to Coltart, Hwende said truth has to be said, while he accused the blue movement linked to former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa of fielding candidates in by-elections when Mahere and Markham resigned in solidarity with the youthful politician.

“Thank you David we must always be truthful!! If they resigned in solidarity with President Chamisa why did the so called blue movement field candidates that they were lying that President Chamisa has endorsed them ? They even added his picture. Lies and deception must Stop,” said Hwende.

Coltart torched a political storm when he exonerated Sengezo Tshabangu from the political mess that saw CCC losing Harare East and Mt Pleasant parliamentary seats to Zanu PF after Mahere and Markham resigned in solidarity with Chamisa.

Coltart said the two resigned of their own accord.

He was responding to a ZimEye tweet which said the seats had been lost thanks to Tshabangu.

Armed Robbers Gunned Down In Bulawayo

Two armed robbery suspects accused of disarming prison guards at Khami Prison near Bulawayo on March 21 and stealing an AK47 rifle have been shot dead in police custody.

Never Moyo, 48, of Nkulumane 11 and Bhekimpilo Sibanda, 43, of Kezi “suddenly became violent in a bid to disarm one of the police officers of his AK47” and were subsequently shot dead on April 26, police said.

The men had been booked out of Bulawayo Central Police Station for “indications” near Khami Dam where they had hidden two guns.

A third suspect, Jerry Arnold Gumbo, 48, of Maphisa, is in police custody.

The killing of the two men in police custody is the latest in a string of similar incidents which have led to accusations that police are summarily executing suspects. In all the incidents, police said they were protecting themselves and deny unlawful killings.

Police say at around 2AM on March 21, Moyo and Sibanda who were armed with a pistol and an electric shock stun gun crept up on prison guards at Khami Prison and robbed them of an AK47.

The men then allegedly went on a spree robbing shops and stealing motor vehicles.

On March 23, Moyo and Sibanda allegedly struck at the Meat Company in Njube suburb and grabbed US$1,800 and R1,400 from the cash till.

On April 2, they boarded a Pumula-bound Honda Fit in Nkulumane before pulling out a gun and allegedly robbing Udin Nyoni of the vehicle and US$60 in cash.

On the same day, staff at FMG Wholesale in central Bulawayo were allegedly accosted by Moyo and Sibanda who were armed with an AK47 and a pistol. The two men forced staff to open the cash till and emptied it of US$780.

A day later, on April 3, teacher Yedwa Ncube of Old Lobengula arrived home just after 8PM and parked in front of his house before going to open the gate. Moyo and Sibanda appeared from the darkness and produced guns before robbing him of his vehicle and two phones.

Three illegal foreign currency dealers at Nkulumane Complex – Siphilile Mabhena, Vusile Moyo and Mlungisi Sigauke – would be the next victims. On April 4, Sibanda and Moyo allegedly approached them while armed with an AK47 and a pistol and demanded cash. The trio was robbed of R1,000, US$1,800 and US$1,400 respectively.

On April 18, Mlungisi Sigauke of Old Lobengula had just parked outside his house at 7PM when Moyo and Sibanda suddenly emerged and forced him to hand over his car keys for his unidentified vehicle at gun point. The duo drove off at high speed.

Two days later, on April 20, Moyo and Sibanda allegedly stormed the Maphisa Post Office and ordered Enest Dube to open the safe at gun point. They grabbed US$2,240 from the safe.

Police raided Moyo’s Nkulumane 11 residence on April 26 after a tip-off that he had a gun. After he was detained, police recovered an AK47 rifle with eight rounds and a black pistol pellet gun. Also recovered were two hand-held Bao-Feng communication radios.

Moyo, according to police, implicated Sibanda in all the robberies and the third suspect Gumbo in the Maphisa Post Office robbery only.

Sibanda and Gumbo were arrested at their rural homes without incident.

On April 26, Moyo and Sibanda led police to Khami Dam where they said they had hidden two guns. Police recovered an FN Browning pistol and a Taurus revolver.

“The accused persons suddenly became violent in a bid to disarm one of the police officers of his AK47 rifle. They were subsequently shot by alert police details and sustained gunshot wounds to their backs. They were rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where they died on admission,” a police report said.

Prisoner rights activists say dozens of suspects have been killed in police custody after being taken for “indications” at crime scenes.
