The ZRP posted on X:

By Political Reporter-Tendai Biti, the rotational acting President of the Citizens Coalition for Change, has been found guilty of verbally assaulting Russian national and investor Tatiana Aleshina in 2020.
Biti, a lawyer by profession, staunchly denied the allegations, contending that the charges against him did not constitute a criminal offence.
The conviction stemmed from an incident at the Harare Magistrates Court, where a heated exchange of words occurred between Biti and Aleshina.
According to a report by NewZimbabwe.com, Aleshina, who was a witness in criminal cases, claimed that she and her colleague at Pokugara Properties (Private) Limited were victims of Biti’s unsolicited verbal abuse and assaults, describing them as gross professional misconduct. Aleshina detailed the incident, stating:
“While attending to these matters at Harare Magistrates’ Court, I and my colleague…have been victims of Mr. Biti’s unsolicited verbal abuse and assaults which amount to gross professional misconduct.
It was clear to all people who were in the court gallery that Mr. Biti took delight not only in verbally abusing me but in trying to intimidate me…”
In her complaint, Aleshina highlighted Biti’s attempts to belittle her as a woman and a foreigner, alleging a violation of her rights. She claimed that Biti’s conduct, including swearing, shouting, and pointing at her face, constituted a clear act of verbal assault.
Harare magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti, presiding over the case, emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that individuals cannot be allowed to freely hurl derogatory terms at each other. She noted:
“What remains critical is that she went to receive medication. She was prescribed some medication although she refused to be admitted. It is not in dispute that the accused and complainant had a verbal altercation on the day in question and the accused called the complainant a stupid idiot.”
Magistrate Muchuchuti acknowledged the evidence presented, emphasizing that Biti’s actions were corroborated by multiple credible witnesses.
She concluded that Biti’s guilt had been established and stated:
“For those reasons, I find the accused person guilty.”
Biti is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 AM on
Tuesday, facing the prospect of a fine, a prison term of up to 10 years, or a combination of both. His legal representative, Alec Muchadehama, has expressed the intention to appeal the conviction.
The case underscores the challenges faced by opposition figures and highlights the broader implications of legal proceedings involving prominent political figures in the country.
By Business Reporter- Zambia’s Kwacha has claimed the title of Africa’s top-performing currency against the United States dollar for the current year.
The surge, amounting to an impressive 13.8%, ha
s propelled the Kwacha to 22.8 against the US dollar in 2024, as per data from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), as reported by ZimLive.
This remarkable feat can be attributed to the decisive actions taken by the Bank of Zambia, the nation’s central bank, which implemented a significant tightening of monetary policy.
Commercial banks’ reserve ratios were raised, and interest rates saw an upward adjustment earlier this month.
These measures were strategically deployed to counteract a decline in the Kwacha, which had been contributing to an uptick in inflation.
Commenting on this stellar performance, Danny Greef, Co-Head of Africa at research firm ETM Analytics, remarked, “The Kwacha’s performance this year has been remarkable.” Analysts are quick to note, however, that the sustainability of the Kwacha’s strengthening hinges on the nation’s ability to attract more foreign investment.
Zambian officials have identified the prolonged debt restructuring, now entering its fourth year, as a significant impediment to foreign investment and a weakening force on the Kwacha.
Despite governmental efforts to stimulate the sector, copper production—the primary foreign exchange earner for Zambia—has also experienced a decline.
Addressing these challenges at a recent public forum, Bank of Zambia governor Denny Kalyalya stated, “The measures that we have taken… are meant to stem some of the demand, which we thought was excessive as we anticipate supply, which mainly comes from the mining sector.”
Although the Kwacha witnessed a marginal weakening last week, slipping from 22.5 to $1, it remained resilient, boasting a strength exceeding 20% compared to the record low of 27.23 recorded on February 6.

BaTroy is well known for his hit song ‘Shungu Dzemoyo Wangu.’
The Zimbabwean musician BaTroy crashed a Toyota Aqua gifted to him by Chivhayo.
Details about the accident are still sketchy, and it remains uncertain whether the singer was present in the car at the time of the accident or if he sustained any injuries.
However, he took to social media to share images of his severely damaged car. In one of his posts, he expressed his sorrow over the loss of his car, which, based on the picture he shared, appears to be extensively damaged.

This accident came barely a month after wealthy businessman Wicknell Chivayo bought him the car.
In January, BaTroy made a public plea to Wicknell Chivayo to buy him a car.
In a video recorded during his commute on public transport, BaTroy humbly requested the businessman’s help, citing the undignified nature of his current mode of transportation.
Responding to the video, Wicknell said he was touched by the BaTroy’s plea. He disclosed that he was going to buy him an Aqua Toyota.

However, upon learning that BaTroy did not have a driver’s license, Wicknell expressed his discouragement about buying him a car when he does not have a valid driver’s license.
“Baba Troy = No valid drivers license No provisional…
“I can’t and will never buy someone without a license a car…

The generous businessman confirmed that he would proceed with the purchase of the vehicle, with the understanding that BaTroy would collect it after obtaining his driver’s license. Wicknell Chivayo also stated that he would cover the expenses associated with the licensing process.
“However, I will still buy the car tomorrow have it registered in his name and give him in 3 weeks atora license…Now he must read highway code onyora provisional this week and I’ll pay 60 x 1 hours lessons for him then oenda ku road test.
“Once he has his driver’s license he will drive home in his car the same day,” he said.

As political tensions escalate in Zimbabwe, members of the ruling party Zanu PF’s faction known as Varakashi intensify their calls for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office, raising concerns over potential constitutional violations.
Mnangagwa, who came to power in 2017 following the ousting of long-time ruler Robert Mugabe, faces mounting pressure from within his party to remain in office beyond his current term.
The Varakashi faction, known for its staunch support of the president, has taken to social media platforms such as Facebook to advocate for this extension.
In a recent Facebook post, Varakashi wrote, “Are you ready to see him (Emmerson Mnangagwa) taking another oath of office, and Zimbabwe rising to be the breadbasket of Africa once again by 2030.”
This statement reflects the faction’s aspirations for Mnangagwa to continue leading the country, with hopes of achieving economic prosperity and restoring Zimbabwe’s status as a regional agricultural powerhouse.
However, these calls for term extension have sparked controversy and raised legal concerns, as they potentially violate Zimbabwe’s constitution, which stipulates presidential term limits and the need for free and fair elections.
Critics argue that any attempt by Mnangagwa to extend his stay in power beyond constitutional bounds would undermine democratic principles and further erode confidence in Zimbabwe’s political system.
The intensification of these calls by the Varakashi faction underscores the deep-seated divisions within Zanu PF and highlights the growing uncertainty surrounding Zimbabwe’s political future.
As the debate over Mnangagwa’s tenure continues to unfold, the nation remains at a crossroads, grappling with the delicate balance between stability, democracy, and the rule of law.

In a disturbing turn of events, Emmanuel Muzeza (40) is facing charges of maliciously damaging property after allegedly setting fire to his former sister-in-law’s vehicle in a vengeful act. Appearing before Harare regional magistrate Mr. Stanford Mambanje, Muzeza was remanded in custody to March 7th as investigations continue.
The feud between Muzeza and Ms. Nelliah Mandlokuwa (38) escalated to a dangerous level, stemming from Muzeza’s belief that Mandlokuwa played a role in his divorce from her younger sister. Tensions simmered between the two, reaching a boiling point when Muzeza, accompanied by accomplices Tafadzwa and Tichaona, purportedly executed a plan to seek revenge.
Reports indicate that on February 4th, in the dead of night, the trio allegedly armed themselves with a 2-liter container of petrol and unknown explosive material before proceeding to Mandlokuwa’s residence. With malicious intent, they set fire to her Nissan AD van, parked dangerously close to her bedroom window, causing extensive damage valued at US$6,500.
Mandlokuwa and her husband narrowly escaped harm as the flames threatened to engulf their home, forcing them to flee for safety. Shocked and shaken, Mandlokuwa recounts hearing a loud explosion before witnessing her car ablaze through the window.
Authorities were able to trace Muzeza’s movements through his mobile phone records, revealing discrepancies in his alibi. Despite purportedly being in Shurugwi, Muzeza’s phone signals placed him near the scene of the crime in Harare, leading to his arrest on February 21st.
“This is a despicable act of vengeance that endangered lives and caused significant damage,” stated a police spokesperson. “We will ensure that justice is served for the victims of this heinous crime.”
As the investigation unfolds, the community remains stunned by the brazenness of the alleged actions and awaits further developments in this troubling case.- state media

Reports from Shurugwi indicate that Cynthia Gold Mine is engaging in discriminatory practices by refusing to employ individuals associated with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
According to sources cited by The Mirror, the mine is conducting vetting procedures among its workforce and terminating the employment of anyone found to have affiliations with the CCC.
Peter Mashaya, a board member of the mine, reportedly made this stance clear when speaking to The Mirror.
Mashaya openly stated that employees are facing consequences for their support of CCC councillors from Makusha Suburb during elections.
With approximately 300 workers employed at the mine, Mashaya’s statement carries significant weight.”I will say this openly, we are no longer entertaining any CCC activists at Cynthia Mine,” Mashaya asserted.
He went on to express a sentiment of exclusion, suggesting that individuals aligned with opposition parties should seek opportunities elsewhere.
His remark, “People from the opposition should go and eat from their father not from our father because it won’t be fair,” reflects a discriminatory attitude towards those with differing political affiliations.
The alleged discrimination against CCC supporters at Cynthia Gold Mine raises concerns about fair labor practices and political freedom in the region.
Such actions not only violate the rights of individuals to participate in the political process but also undermine principles of equality and non-discrimination in employment.
While Cynthia Gold Mine has not officially commented on these allegations, the reported actions highlight the need for vigilance in safeguarding democratic principles and ensuring that all individuals are treated fairly and equitably, regardless of their political beliefs.

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has vehemently condemned the violent eviction of citizens by the government of Zimbabwe, shedding light on the pressing issue of land rights and ownership in the country.
In a poignant statement, Chamisa underscored the crucial link between independence, meaningful land rights, and ownership, emphasizing that mere occupation does not equate to true ownership.
“The communal lands act is draconian and colonial,” Chamisa declared, highlighting the systemic flaws within Zimbabwe’s land tenure system. He lamented that while many Zimbabweans may reside on land, they lack legal ownership, leaving them vulnerable to arbitrary displacement and dispossession.
Chamisa’s impassioned plea for justice resonated deeply as he denounced the heartache endured by citizens who have lost their homes due to state-sanctioned evictions.
He emphasized the inherent dignity and God-given entitlement of every citizen to land, condemning the recent displacements as flagrant violations of constitutional rights.
Citing specific constitutional provisions, including property rights, administrative justice, and freedom from arbitrary eviction, Chamisa underscored the legal basis for challenging the government’s actions.
He criticized the concentration of power in the hands of the President, highlighting the lack of accountability and citizen participation in decisions affecting communal lands.
Urging urgent action, Chamisa outlined a series of concrete steps to address the land rights crisis.
Chief among these measures is the issuance of title deeds to provide citizens with legal protection and security over their land.
He also called for a comprehensive review of outdated legislation, establishment of transparent land registries, and depoliticization of land allocation processes.
Moreover, Chamisa stressed the importance of community consultations and adequate compensation in cases of displacement, advocating for a fair and equitable approach to land management.
He proposed the introduction of land use planning mechanisms overseen by designated district planners to prevent abuse of state power and ensure sustainable land utilization.
Advocate Chamisa’s denouncement of brutal evictions by the Mnangagwa regime shines a spotlight on the urgent need for comprehensive land reform in Zimbabwe.
His call for justice, transparency, and citizen empowerment underscores the fundamental principles of democracy and human rights that must guide efforts to address the country’s land tenure challenges.
Only through collective action and genuine reform can Zimbabwe realize its promise of land ownership for all its citizens.

Wicknell On Your Doorstep Today, Will You Accept His Car In Exchange For Your Life?
— ZimEye (@ZimEye) February 25, 2024
ORIGINAL FULL STORY BELOW…
By Dorrothy Moyo | As allegations of money laundering rise, Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s recent spree of luxury car donations, initially intended as grand gestures of philanthropy, has spiraled into controversy, casting a shadow over his intentions.
The move, aimed at generating goodwill, has instead opened a Pandora’s box of political intrigue and social media skepticism, leading to public embarrassment, particularly highlighted by the dignified rejection from renowned human rights activist, Godfrey Karembera, also known as Madzibaba WeShanduko.
Chivayo, associated with the ZANU PF party, had been gifting top-of-the-range vehicles to various individuals, directing them to Victor Matiyenga’s Exquisite Cars Dealership for collection. This pattern of generosity inadvertently thrust Matiyenga into the limelight and led to the creation of an X account under his name, which became a source of controversy.
While investigators probe suggestives of money laundering, Victor Matiyenga himself has spoken out against what he said was a misuse of his identity, emphasizing the negative impact on his reputation and business. “This unfortunate incident has forced me to take legal action to protect my name,” Matiyenga declared, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
The scheme took a sour turn when an offer made through the contentious X account to Karembera, implied he could receive a car in return for publicly renouncing his political leader, Nelson Chamisa.
Karembera’s response was a resolute show of support for Chamisa, a move that not only refused Chivayo’s perceived manipulation but also signaled a broader resistance against attempts to politicize philanthropy.
The X offer to Karembera has since disappeared overnight in a huge embarrassment to both Victor and Chivayo.

Karembera’s stance serves as a sreminder of the potential for backlash when philanthropy is entangled with political motives. “These tactics will not deter us from our path,” Karembera stated, his loyalty unwavering amidst the unfolding drama
On Friday businessman, the “Victor” X account publicised a message saying Madzibaba WeShanduko (Godfrey Karembera) must travel to his offices to collect a car, but only after denouncing his leader, Nelson Chamisa. The temptation was huge, but Godfrey Karembera stood fort.
Instead of responding, Karembera posted pictures of himself in blue colours demonstrating his undying loyalty to his leader, Nelson Chamisa.
This is not the first time ZANU PF has done this. In October 2022,
In October 2022, Zanu PF Youth League National Deputy Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya claimed Karembera has joined ZANU PF
“Madzibaba Weshanduko said “Commissar let’s go to my house so that we talk.” He said “madzibaba hupenyu hwakandiomera kuCCC vakuru vanodya vega (Life is difficult for me. My leaders do not care about us.) Buy me a battery for my incubator. Voting day I will do what changes my life,” said Kandishaya.
Karembera dismissed the allegation and a year later remains loyal to Chamisa.
Advisory: Beware of Unaccounted Money
It’s crucial to exercise caution when receiving money from any source, particularly if you or your donor cannot account for its origin. This practice poses significant legal and ethical risks, especially in light of proceeds of crime laws enforced globally.
1. Legal Ramifications: Accepting funds without a clear understanding of their origin can implicate you in criminal activity, regardless of whether you were aware of the funds’ illicit nature. Many jurisdictions have strict proceeds of crime laws that hold recipients accountable for knowingly or unknowingly benefiting from criminal proceeds.
2. Money Laundering: Unaccounted money often involves money laundering schemes designed to conceal the illicit source of funds. By accepting such funds, you could inadvertently become a party to money laundering, subjecting yourself to severe penalties, including imprisonment and hefty fines.
3. Reputational Damage: Being associated with tainted money can tarnish your reputation irreparably. Even if you are not criminally charged, the mere suspicion of involvement in illicit financial activities can harm your credibility, professional standing, and personal relationships.
4. Financial Consequences: Authorities may freeze or confiscate assets obtained through illegal means, leaving you without access to funds and facing financial hardship. Additionally, legal fees and other expenses incurred in defending yourself against accusations of complicity can be exorbitant.
5. Compliance Obligations: Businesses and individuals are obligated to adhere to anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations. Failing to conduct proper due diligence on the source of funds can result in regulatory penalties and sanctions.
Conclusion: Protect yourself and your interests by exercising vigilance and due diligence when dealing with financial transactions. Always verify the legitimacy of funds and ensure full transparency regarding their source. If you have any doubts or suspicions about the origin of money, seek legal advice immediately to mitigate potential risks and liabilities.
Meanwhile, the backfire of Chivayo’s campaign, rather than elevating his status, has instead subjected him to public scrutiny and criticism, with more individuals likely to follow Karembera’s lead. This episode underscores the complexities of mixing business ventures with political ambitions in Zimbabwe’s charged atmosphere, where the line between generosity and manipulation appears increasingly blurred.

By A Correspondent| Residents and commuters in Mbare are expressing outrage over the continuous smoke emanating from the dumping area near the Mbare Musika International Termini. The Zimbabwean environmental rights group, PAZ (People Against Litter), is calling upon the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and the City of Harare to take immediate action to address the issue.
The burning of refuse at the dump, which originates from vendors, commuters, residents, and city clean-ups, is causing significant air pollution and releasing harmful toxins into the surrounding environment. Residents living westward of the dump, along Seke Road/Chaminuka Street in Majorburg, and commuters using the termini are particularly affected by the smoke.
“We are deeply concerned about the health risks associated with this constant smoke,” said a spokesperson for PAZ. “The toxic pollutants being released into the air can have serious consequences for respiratory health, especially for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.”
PAZ is urging the City of Harare and EMA to take the following actions:
“We urge the relevant authorities, particularly the City of Harare and EMA, to heed this call and take immediate action to address this public health and environmental concern,” concluded the PAZ spokesperson.
The constant smoke from the Mbare dumping area highlights the city’s ongoing waste management challenges. Addressing this issue will require a collaborative effort between government agencies, waste management companies, and the community to implement sustainable solutions that prioritize both public health and environmental protection.

The reintroduction of Zimbabwe’s National Youth Service (NYS), historically known as the “Green Bombers,” by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has reignited concerns over its economic and societal implications. This analysis explores the contentious legacy of the NYS and its impact on Zimbabwe’s fragile economy, particularly highlighting issues of intimidation, business interference, and the disruption of agricultural productivity.
**A Legacy of Intimidation and Economic Disruption**
The NYS, initially launched by the late national hero Cde Border Gezi in 2000, has been a subject of significant controversy. Critics argue that it served as a tool for political manipulation, where graduates, often referred to as “Green Bombers,” were implicated in acts of intimidation against political opponents and the general populace. This environment of fear and coercion has had profound implications for the business community, deterring investment and stifacing economic growth.
**Undermining Agricultural Productivity**
Perhaps one of the most devastating economic impacts of the NYS’s activities has been the disruption of Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector. The program’s graduates were often at the forefront of farm invasions, part of a broader land reform program that saw the forcible redistribution of land from white farm owners to black Zimbabweans. While the intent was to correct historical land imbalances, the execution led to a sharp decline in agricultural productivity, a sector once considered the backbone of Zimbabwe’s economy. The loss of expertise, combined with the lack of support and training for new farmers, resulted in significant food shortages and a dependency on food imports, further straining the national budget.
**Economic Consequences and Investor Confidence**
The historical actions of the NYS have cast a long shadow over Zimbabwe’s economic landscape. The perception of political instability and the risk of property seizure have severely hampered foreign direct investment. Investors remain wary of entering a market where policy can be unpredictably influenced by political agendas and where their investments are not secure from expropriation or disruption by politically motivated groups.
**The Path Forward: Reconciliation and Reform**
For Zimbabwe to recover and prosper, it is essential to address the grievances and abuses of the past, including those associated with the NYS. This involves a commitment to genuine economic and political reforms that prioritize the rule of law, property rights, and the depoliticization of institutions such as the NYS. Rebuilding trust with the international community, investors, and among Zimbabweans themselves will require transparent and inclusive policies that ensure the NYS or any similar initiative is dedicated purely to positive youth development and not to furthering political agendas at the expense of the nation’s economy.
**Conclusion**
While the government presents the revival of the NYS as a move towards youth empowerment and national development, the historical context raises valid concerns about its potential economic implications. For Zimbabwe to move forward, it is crucial that lessons from the past guide the restructuring of the NYS into a force for positive change, rather than a repeat of a history that has contributed to the country’s economic challenges. The focus must be on creating a sustainable and inclusive economic environment that benefits all Zimbabweans, free from the specter of intimidation and economic disruption.
By Agencies- The wealth tax introduced by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube in the 2024 national budget is now being dubbed the “Harare Tax.” This rebranding comes after the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) disclosed that not a single property within Bulawayo meets the criteria for the wealth tax, highlighting a significant implementation challenge and questioning the tax’s national applicability.
Initially aimed at imposing a 1% levy on non-primary residences valued over US$250,000, with a cap of US$50,000 in tax per property annually, the wealth tax’s objectives are now in jeopardy. The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra), tasked with tax collection with assistance from local councils, faces a critical setback with this revelation from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second-largest city.
The BCC’s comprehensive report indicates the highest-valued residential property in the city stands at US$115,000, considerably below the wealth tax threshold. This stark discrepancy between policy intention and local property valuations suggests the tax may only be feasible in Harare, where property values are presumed higher, hence the emerging nickname “Harare Tax.”
Economic experts are casting doubt on the effectiveness of this localized approach. “The so-called Harare Tax highlights a misalignment between the national tax policy and the economic realities outside the capital,” stated a local economist seeking anonymity. “If the wealth tax’s impact is confined to Harare due to higher property values, it severely limits the anticipated revenue stream and questions the tax’s fairness.”
The BCC’s valuation methodology, which assigns uniform values within rating zones for tax purposes, and the absence of a comprehensive property occupancy database, underscore the challenges in identifying eligible properties for taxation under the current law, which spares primary residences.
Critics point out that the financial and logistical burdens of implementing the tax, including the need for significant system adjustments and the potential for legal recovery costs, may dwarf any potential revenue. “Implementing what has effectively become the Harare Tax could introduce inefficiencies and inequities in the tax system, especially if it predominantly affects only one region,” a tax policy analyst remarked.
With Bulawayo’s property valuations unlikely to rise significantly in upcoming assessments, the rebranded “Harare Tax” raises profound questions about the wealth tax’s viability and equitable implementation across Zimbabwe. This situation calls for a critical reassessment of the tax’s objectives, structure, and enforcement mechanisms, ensuring they align with the economic landscapes of all cities, not just the capital.
Belarus has pledged to further strengthen bilateral ties with Zimbabwe, through sharing its military expertise and skills with the country’s defence sector.
Emerging from a meeting with Zimbabwe’s Defence Minster in Harare this Friday, Belarus Minister of State Authority for Military Industry, Honourable Dimitriv Pantus said skills transfer will be done within the shortest possible time.
Honourable Dimitriv Pantus said, “We discussed several key areas, particularly looking at how we can assist with skills transfer and support the military sector with the latest and modern technology. We are looking to implement in the very shortest time.”
If successfully implemented, the cooperation will be a critical pedestal to bolster security in the country, especially porous border points.
“We are happy to be exploring such ventures which help us better prepare against external threats. We have been under sanctions for a long time and this was having negative impacts on our preparedness against any security threats. But if we get such assistance, this will be very critical to enhance our military systems and address the challenge of porous border points,” said Honourable Muchinguri-Kashiri.
Belarus and Zimbabwe share excellent relations in areas which include politics, mining, and agriculture.

I’m number 2
In shadows deep, the enigma lies concealed,
A puzzle wrapped in riddles, truth concealed.
“He claims he’s number 2,” whispers echo low,
A cryptic tale of secrets, yet to show.
The spirit, puppet to a sorcerer’s hand,
Remote-controlled by spells from distant land.
A conundrum unravelled, mysteries told,
In whispered truths, the arcane behold.
The mind, a labyrinth, where secrets dwell,
Unravelling mysteries, as tales they swell.
For those who grasp the clues, the hidden code,
Reveal the truth, on paths they boldly strode.
In shadows cast, the puzzle now unbinds,
As truth emerges from elusive finds.
A poem spun, in shadows’ gentle sway,
Reveals the secrets, in the light of day.

Or remote controlling the real number two

Amidst a backdrop of national economic challenges and widespread criticism of the ruling regime, the First Family of Zimbabwe marks a personal milestone as twin sons Sean and Collins Mnangagwa turn 37.
The celebration of their birthday offers a momentary respite from the tumultuous political and economic landscape gripping the nation.
While the occasion is undoubtedly a joyous one for the Mnangagwa family, it occurs against a backdrop of deep-seated discontentment among citizens.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa, their father, has faced intense scrutiny and condemnation for alleged human rights abuses, brutal crackdowns on political opposition, and attempts to manipulate the constitution to extend his stay in power beyond 2028.
Despite these controversies, the ruling party, Zanu PF, took to social media to extend their wishes to the twins.
The official Zanu PF Varakashi Facebook page posted a simple message, “Happy birthday twins,” which, amidst the political tension, sparked mixed reactions among Zimbabweans.A brief look at the achievements of the Mnangagwa twins sheds light on their educational and professional backgrounds.
Major Sean Tafadzwa Mnangagwa, a graduate of the Army Command College in Nanjing, China, has a BA in Defence and Strategic Studies, along with a Diploma in Military Education and Training from MSU in Gweru, Zimbabwe. His military training and education position him within the ranks of the nation’s armed forces, a sphere of influence where his expertise and leadership may play a significant role.
On the other hand, Eng. Collins Mnangagwa pursued a different path, graduating from the North China Electric Power University with a BSc in Electrical Engineering and its Automation, specializing in Mining Plants automation systems.
His focus on engineering, particularly within the mining sector, underscores the critical role of technology and innovation in Zimbabwe’s economic development, albeit against a backdrop of challenges in the sector.
As the Mnangagwa twins celebrate another year of life, their personal achievements and future endeavors inevitably intersect with the broader narrative of Zimbabwe’s trajectory.
While their individual paths may diverge, their roles within the fabric of Zimbabwean society, and by extension, its political and economic landscape, remain subject to scrutiny and speculation.
As the nation grapples with profound challenges and aspirations for a better future, the Mnangagwa twins’ journey serves as a microcosm of the complexities and possibilities inherent in Zimbabwe’s ongoing story.
While their birthday celebration offers a moment of reflection and unity for the family, the broader implications of their roles within Zimbabwe’s societal tapestry underscore the multifaceted nature of the nation’s aspirations and struggles.

Dismissing the allegations, Karembera affirmed his loyalty to Chamisa, emphasizing his dedication to the cause despite external pressures.
The unveiling of the new blue regalia marks a visual declaration of Madzibaba VeShanduku’s continued commitment to Nelson Chamisa’s leadership, transcending material temptations and political rumours.
By Crime & Courts Reporter – A 40-year-old Chitungwiza woman, Sharon Chidamba, is facing accusations of murdering her married boyfriend, Edward Chakanetsa, who tragically lost his life at her residence on Christmas Day last year.
The shocking incident has taken a sinister turn, revealing a complex tale of a deadly dispute.
Chidamba made her appearance at the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court, where she was granted bail set at US$100.
The State alleges that the fatal altercation transpired after a heated disagreement between Chidamba and Chakanetsa, triggered by a festive beer session.
The prosecution asserts that Chidamba attacked Chakanetsa with an unidentified object, causing a fractured skull that ultimately proved fatal.
The circumstances leading up to the incident are murky, with Chidamba under suspicion due to conflicting statements given to Chakanetsa’s relatives, who grew suspicious of foul play.
In one version of events, Chidamba claimed that Chakanetsa had ingested rat poison, rushing him to a local hospital where he succumbed to the toxicity.
However, discrepancies emerged following the post-mortem results, which indicated that Chakanetsa’s demise resulted from a blunt force trauma rather than poison.
Chidamba was taken into custody on January 6, following mounting doubts and the family’s decision to report the case to the police.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Chidamba is set to return to court, while police investigations into the murder continue.
Analysis: Unraveling the Layers of Deceit in a Tragic Love Affair
The case of Sharon Chidamba and Edward Chakanetsa presents a distressing narrative of a love affair gone awry, culminating in a shocking act of violence. The conflicting accounts provided by Chidamba raise questions about the true nature of the events leading to Chakanetsa’s death.
The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can lurk within relationships, especially when fueled by emotional turbulence. The legal proceedings are expected to shed light on the motives and circumstances surrounding the alleged murder, offering a glimpse into the complexities of human emotions and the consequences of unchecked conflicts. As the case unfolds, it prompts a sobering reflection on the fragility of human relationships and the devastating impact that unresolved disputes can have on individuals and their families.
If the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe nullified the MDC Alliance Election Results of 2019 in 2020, on what legal ground can people claim to be CCC Vice-Presidents.
Dear Editor,
Following the resignation of Advocate Nelson Chamisa as CCC President towards the end of January 2024, two CCC leadership camps have emerged – one which will be co-chaired by Professor Welshman Ncube, Advocate Tendai Biti and Lynette Kerenyi-Kore, according to information given at a press conference by Advocate Jacob Mafume, which is collaborated by Professor Welshman Ncube in subsequent media interviews he had after the Mafume Press Conference. The other faction is led by Mr. Jameson Timba, which justifies its authenticity through the argument that the CCC is managed through the Citizen National Assembly.
My recollection of the Supreme Court Judgement of 2020 which gave control of the MDC to Dr. Khupe is that it confirmed the May 2019 decision of the High Court that Dr. Tsvangirai’s appointment in July 2016 of Advocate Chamisa and Engineer Mudzuri as additional Deputy President was in breach of the MDC Constitution and therefore null and void; that the appointment of Advocate Chamisa as Acting President of the MDC by the party’s National Council after Mr. Tsvangirai’s death in February 2018 and his subsequent election as President of MDC were likewise null and void. That would also mean that every other position elected at the 2019 Congress and all the structures endorsed by that Congress are null and void.
If the positions elected at Gweru were null and void, the persons elected into those positions can therefore not claim to be in the same positions in the CCC. That does not mean that Professor Ncube, Advocate Biti, Karenyi-Kore and Mafume faction are not entitled to claim leadership as they are part of the CCC, just as the Timba lead faction, but to claim leadership basing the argument on positions that were nullified by a court of law does not sound right, so these colleagues have started on the wrong footing, and the sooner they realise that and find an alternative justification for their claim to leadership may be the best thing for them to do.
The truth of the matter is that there are factions that have been created following the resignation of Advocate Chamisa. In my view, the CCC was a new party, which should not have carried over the structures that were declared null and void by a court of law. While it took two years for the nullified Gweru Congress leadership to admit the court ruling and form something new, they finally did. I recollect that when members of the public complained that Professor Ncube was not speaking against Tshabangu’s recall of legislators, Professor Ncube asked in what capacity he was expected to comment as he did not have a position in the party, so for Professor Ncube to now claim a leadership position makes the general public question his integrity.
If it is true that the Citizens National Assembly was the way decisions were made in the CCC, Timba’s team has a good argument.
Unfortunatelly for Tshabangu, he was neither the Secretary-General after the 2019 Congress, nor was he part of the Citizens National Assemly after the formation of the CCC.
I encourage the factions to reflect deeply on the issues I have raised and find a way forward. If they cannot agree on things, then they should agree to part ways amicably as happened in 2005, when people chose to belong where they felt more aligned to without the fear of being recalled from parliament. I remember the likes of Blessing Chebundo initially going with the Gibson Sibanda lead faction, only to change positions and went with the faction lead by the late Dr. Tsvangirai later, taking along his parliamentary seat with him in the process.

The scheme took a sour turn when an offer made through the contentious X account to Karembera, implied he could receive a car in return for publicly renouncing his political leader, Nelson Chamisa.Karembera’s response was a resolute show of support for Chamisa, a move that not only refused Chivayo’s perceived manipulation but also signaled a broader resistance against attempts to politicize philanthropy.
The X offer to Karembera has since disappeared overnight in a huge embarrassment to both Victor and Chivayo.Karembera’s stance serves as a sreminder of the potential for backlash when philanthropy is entangled with political motives. “These tactics will not deter us from our path,” Karembera stated, his loyalty unwavering amidst the unfolding dramaThe commitment Madzibaba VeShanduko @MadzibabaV

Advisory: Beware of Unaccounted Money It’s crucial to exercise caution when receiving money from any source, particularly if you or your donor cannot account for its origin.

By Political Reporter- Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart has exposed the former MDC and PDP members who hijacked the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti are the leaders of the MDC and PDP, who appointed themselves as rotating presidents of the CCC last week after frustrating Nelson Chamisa.
Coltart’s expose’ comes after Harare Mayor, Jacob Mafume, who claims to be the CCC’s spokesperson, said Coltart was the party’s Treasurer-General.
Mafume and his allies who include Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti, purport to have revived the MDC Alliance structures elected by the 2019 Gweru Congress to run CCC.
Coltart, who was elected MDC Alliance Tresurer-General, was among the party’s former bigwigs who snubbed a recent meeting of CCC members who sought to revive the structures from the Gweru Congress.
Responding to an X user who had asked to know his position regarding the remarks made by Mafume, Coltart said he ceased being Treasurer General a long time ago. He said:
That is news to me. I ceased being Treasurer General ages ago. As I wrote in my statement recently I refuse to be drawn into any zero-sum game. The future of Zimbabwe depends on all genuine democrats finding each other and working jointly to defeat tyranny.
Commenting on Coltart’s stance, journalist and government critic Hopewell Chin’ono said opposition political activists must resolve their differences and work together. He wrote on X:
This is why Blessed Mhlanga’s question was important and relevant to the current opposition drama,
@DavidColtart has rejected Jacob Mafume’s assertion that he is the current Treasurer-General.
This now leads to more questions that need to be asked, questions asking who else was named and yet is not part of the CCC leadership structure in the faction represented by Jacob Mafume as party spokesman.
As the man he has always been, @DavidColtart has maturely advised anyone opposed to ZANU-PF corrupt rule to not fight to kill each other.
He realises that these opposition fights have only one beneficiary, ZANU PF.
Coltart is among the majority of CCC’s elected representatives who resisted pressure to resign after former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa quit the party last month.
A Harare man arrested last year for smuggling two Ford Ranger vehicles and affixing them with number plates from the President’s Office is controversial prophet Uebert Angel’s aide.
Angel, the founder of Spirit Embassy, is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large to Europe and the Americas (OPEAAL).
Terrance Madiro was part of a syndicate that included Aleck Dzepatsva, Brian Matongo and Elvis Jieman that was involved in smuggling different types of high-end cars from South Africa.
They allegedly fraudulently acquired exempted number plates from the Office of the President and Cabinet to avoid paying customs duty as well as enabling free passage at tollgates and police roadblocks.
Madiro, whose case has been separated from his co-accused, will be back in court for trial on 10 April.
His co-accused are back in court on 10 March.
Madiro is accused of smuggling a white Ford Ranger vehicle double cab in 2020, chassis Number AFAPXXMJ2PHK28914.
He allegedly affixed registration number AFB 5575 belonging to the Fleet of Office of the President to the vehicle.
Madiro obtained the number plates from Brezhnev Mutambo who is believed to have been employed by the Department of the President’s Office.
Madiro gave the car to his ex-wife Francisca Madiro for use in transporting their children to and from school.
He smuggled another Ford Raptor Ranger double cab in July 2023 from South Africa and fitted them with registration numbers, AGE 0461 from the Office of the President according to court papers.
Both vehicles were not found in the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority and Vehicle Registry databases.
Investigations by The Standard have proven that Madiro, who is listed in court papers as Sentrigo Security, is linked to Angel where he is identified as the chief protocol officer in the cleric’s office, according to the website for the Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large to Europe and the Americas.
A Facebook account under the name of Terrence Madiro was updated in 2014 with a picture of Angel and his wife, showing the close connections between the two.

By A Correspondent| Several elderly people, who are in their advanced age are among dozens of villagers, who are being prosecuted in Gwanda in Matabeleland South province, on charges of illegally occupying state land without lawful authority.
The 180 villagers, who include a nonagenarian, octogenarian, septuagenarians, sexagenarians and youths, were apprehended by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on 7 February 2024 during a dragnet arrest and summarily charged with occupying gazetted land without lawful authority as defined in Section 3(1)(4) as read with Section 5 of the Gazetted Land Consequential Provisions.
Prosecutors alleged that the 180 villagers, who reside in Nyandeni community in Gwanda North in Matabeleland South province, unlawfully held, used or occupied land at Hollins Block Estate in Gwanda, which is gazetted land and without lawful authority.
Upon their arrest on 7 February 2024, the 180 villagers endured two nights in police detention and were only set free on 9 February 2024 after prosecutors declined to prosecute them when their lawyers Jabulani Mhlanga of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and Mitchell Chigova of Mabhikwa and Partners Legal Practitioners, challenged the manner in which their arrest had been effected as falling short of the provisions of section 50 of the Constitution and the lack of documentary evidence, which informed the arrests as they were merely done to investigate than to prosecute.
The villagers were then summoned to appear at Gwanda Magistrates Court on 23 February 2024, where prosecutors filed an application seeking to formally place them on remand.
However, their lawyers challenged the prosecutors’ bid to place the 180 villagers on remand.
The court was yet to hand down its ruling on the state’s bid to place the villagers on remand by late Friday.

By Farai D Hove | In a devastating incident at Chegutu Bus Terminus, a fire outbreak has obliterated eight market stalls, resulting in substantial financial losses for the stallholders involved. The blaze, which erupted around midnight on Tuesday, has left vendors in despair, with damages estimated nearly at US$50,000. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, adding to the distress of those affected. .
Stallholders, grappling with the sudden destruction of their livelihoods, are in dire need of support to resume operations. “We do not know how we are going to recover from this devastating blow. I lost an inventory worth about US$6500,” shared one of the vendors, highlighting the immediate impact on individuals who relied on the market for their income.
The fire’s intensity was such that it left nothing behind, consuming not only the wares but also the infrastructure, including the roofing material. Mr. Jealous Phiri, the Chairperson of the market, expressed his dismay, stating that the Chegutu Fire Brigade’s efforts were insufficient to curb the inferno’s wrath, leading to a total loss.
In response to the tragedy, Chegutu West legislator Cde Shakemore Timburwa visited the site to evaluate the damages and extend his support to the victims. “What we see here is painful, and we are here to see how best the affected families can be helped to recover,” Timburwa remarked. He emphasized the need for future protective measures, suggesting collaborations with insurance companies to develop tailored packages for vendors, ensuring their resilience against such calamities.
The community now faces the challenging task of rebuilding, with the legislator taking steps to ascertain the requirements for restoring the market. This incident has sparked a conversation on the importance of safety measures and insurance in safeguarding the livelihoods of small-scale vendors against unforeseen disasters.
As the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, the focus remains on the immediate relief for those affected and the implementation of long-term solutions to prevent such incidents in the future.

In a gesture that was meant to symbolize support for youth empowerment, President Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe donated a tractor to the Mushagashe Youth Vocational Training Centre during the National Youth Day commemorations.
However, the seemingly benevolent act quickly turned sour as the tractor, reportedly received from Belarus, failed to start.
This incident has once again shed light on Zimbabwe’s precarious relationship with substandard products from Belarus and the alleged murky deals between the two countries.Zimbabwe has long been labeled a dumping ground for substandard goods, particularly those originating from Belarus.
Reports suggest that President Aleksandr Lukashenko and several individuals benefit significantly from these questionable transactions.
The tractor donation fiasco serves as a stark reminder of the repercussions of such arrangements on the ground.
One notable instance that underscored this troubling pattern occurred in 2022 when Zimbabwe’s honorary consul and close associate of President Mnangagwa, Alexander Zingman, reportedly secured a lucrative $62 million deal to supply fire tenders to local authorities.
This deal, tainted with allegations of corruption and substandard equipment, exemplifies the systemic issues plaguing bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus.
The repercussions of these transactions are felt most acutely by ordinary Zimbabweans, who bear the brunt of substandard products that fail to meet basic quality standards.
In the case of the Mushagashe Youth Vocational Training Centre, the malfunctioning tractor represents not only a logistical setback but also a missed opportunity for meaningful investment in youth development.
Moreover, the prevalence of such dubious deals erodes trust in government institutions and fuels public discontent.
The lack of transparency surrounding these transactions further exacerbates the problem, leaving citizens disillusioned and skeptical of their leaders’ intentions.
To address this issue, there is an urgent need for greater accountability and oversight in trade relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus.
Both governments must prioritize the interests of their citizens over personal gains and take concrete steps to ensure the quality and reliability of imported goods.
Furthermore, civil society organizations and the media play a crucial role in exposing corruption and holding those responsible to account.
By shining a light on these murky deals and demanding transparency, they can help safeguard the rights and well-being of Zimbabwean citizens.
The recent tractor donation debacle serves as a stark reminder of Zimbabwe’s troubling tryst with substandard products and murky deals from Belarus.
It underscores the need for greater transparency, accountability, and oversight in bilateral trade relations to protect the interests of ordinary citizens and uphold the principles of good governance.
Mining, like any other business, teeters on a delicate balance of crucial factors that can either propel it to soaring heights or plunge it into the depths of failure.
While many miners fixate on the allure of striking a rich vein, the reality unveils a different narrative.
Sustainable success in mining hinges upon mastering key elements that form the bedrock of this industry.
Let’s embark on a journey to unearth these invaluable lessons that can steer miners towards prosperity even in the face of adversity.
At the helm of every successful mining operation stands a strategic manager whose influence reverberates throughout the venture.
The absence of effective management manifests in myriad red flags—diminished output, equipment losses, absence of records, regulatory non-compliance, and unsustainable production metrics.
Prior to appointing a manager, introspectively assess your weaknesses and seek out a candidate whose strengths complement your shortcomings.
Foster a collaborative management ethos devoid of micromanagement, relegating cellphones solely to reporting and analysis tools.
Complement your manager’s skill set by assembling a cohesive management team that covers all critical aspects, be it blasting expertise or cyanide plant management.2. Debt Management: Debt looms large in the narrative of mining endeavors, often serving as both a boon and a bane.
Artisanal miners, constrained by limited resources, resort to makeshift solutions to extract precious metals, paving the way for a cascade of debts.
Short-term loans, predominantly sourced from the informal sector, snowball into exorbitant liabilities, ensnaring mine owners and workers alike. Survival in this landscape necessitates not only adept debt management skills but also unwavering discipline.
Astute investors recognize the potential nestled within mines burdened by debt, viewing it as an opportunity for strategic intervention.
By acquiring existing debts and orchestrating judicious negotiations, investors can seamlessly segue into operational realms, albeit with caution and prudence.3.
The Boss: “Tsheketsha Korokoza” In the lexicon of mining, the term “Tsheketsha Korokoza” embodies the essence of resilience amidst adversity.
Just as every miner encounters cycles of abundance and dearth, prudent financial support must mirror performance benchmarks rather than fleeting successes.
Transparency, consistency, and accountability emerge as guiding principles in bolstering these frontline operatives.
While bestowing respect upon them is paramount, financial aid should be dispensed discerningly, steering clear of enabling dependence.
The crucible of hunger and hardship serves as the ultimate arbiter, distinguishing genuine commitment from opportunistic exploitation. In conclusion, the mining landscape offers a tapestry of lessons waiting to be deciphered.
By heeding the wisdom encapsulated within strategic management, debt mastery, and nuanced support for frontline workers, miners can chart a course towards enduring success amidst the ebb and flow of industry dynamics.

Dynamos vice chairman Vincent Chawonza has blasted Khama Billiat, labelling the former Warriors star’s camp as ‘unprofessional’ after the player snubbed the Harare giants and subsequently joined Yadah.
Billiat, 33, who had been without a club since partying ways with DStv Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs in June last year, was reportedly on the verge of joining DeMbare, with the Harare giants’ executive insisting it was all systems go.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns star’s transfer saga took a surprise twist when he was welcomed at RGM International Airport on Tuesday night, by Yadah FC officials, led by club Chief Executive Officer Admire Mango.
Billiat then signed for Yadah, ending months of speculation over the Aces Youth Academy graduate’s future, to the ire of Chiwonza.
“People who are around him Khama Billiat are ill-advising him. I think the blame goes to his managers, starting with the decision not to renew his stay at Kaizer Chiefs,” Chawonza on South African radio Energy FM.
“He wasn’t supposed to leave Kaizer Chiefs in the first place. We tabled a similar offer as Yadah, but they were swift and gave him cash on Tuesday when he arrived.
“I think he listens too much to the people who are around him, yet they are ill-advising him. As a player, he has made some decisions that I did not expect of him.
“But it all boils down to his management because they are not leading him well. He was the one who initiated talks with us during George Chigova’s funeral. Then we initiated talks with our coach. Everything was on course until Tuesday,” added Chiwonza.
Billiat will be unveiled by Yadah today.

By Political Reporter- The country’s main opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa, has challenged Zanu PF and reminded the ruling party that the August 2023 stolen election issue is not over.
Chamisa said this Thursday at the Namibian Embassy in Harare, paying his condolences following the death of the country’s President, Hage Geingob, who passed away on 04 February this year.
Speaking to journalists after he signed a condolence book at the Namibian Embassy, Chamisa said he was representing millions of Zimbabweans who support him. He said:
I am here precisely representing the people of Zimbabwe who believe in the alternative and who have supported and continue to support [me].
You are aware that we recently held our elections, the 23 August 2023 elections. Over two million people voted.
It is those voices I carry, so I don’t need a political party as I come… It’s not about politics, it’s about honouring a giant.
You are aware that President Hage Geinngob was familiar to me, in my capacity as a leader, as a young African, but more importantly in the context of SADC.
So I am here to pay my condolences to this giant, to this great icon, to this doyen of democracy, to the man who contributed so much, not just to Namibia but also to Africa, and not just to Africa but to humanity.
He made a difference. He was a democrat. He was a believer in justice and freedom and he did not arrest opponents, he did not incarcerate those who differed with him.
He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within SADC, so for that reason we honour him and we are coming here to pay our tribute to the great giant and to say, that he has laid the framework, he has created the path, and ours is to walk in his footsteps.
Quizzed on his next move after resigning from CCC which he founded in January 2022, Chamisa said:
Once we are ready, like I said, I am going to give Zimbabweans a clear direction.
Chamisa announced his resignation and dissociation from CCC on 25 January, saying the party had been infiltrated and hijacked by ZANU PF through its proxies.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ambassador-at-large Uebert Angel, born Uebert Madzanire has been banned from YouTube after he allegedly attempted to pull down Al Jazeera’s Gold Mafia investigative documentary which exposed him as a key player in alleged gold and money laundering activities in Zimbabwe.
The four-part investigative series also purported that Mnangagwa had a close relationship with gold smugglers and money launderers, who claimed they were making regular payments to the President to ensure protection.
Data analyst Team Pachedu told NewsDay that Angel tried to remove the content several times before being banned from YouTube for violating the terms of service.
“When you make a complaint, YouTube automatically notifies the other party that somebody is violating its copyright for IT (information technology) to get videos. So the other party is involved throughout the process of what’s going on.
“That’s how we managed to know because we knew the party that was involved. Angel has been trying to send requests in an attempt to remove Gold Mafia content until YouTube banned him,” Team Pachedu said.
Team Pachedu said Angel was now desperately luring people to follow him on Facebook.
“Right now he is using another channel called UebertAngelplus on Facebook which was not being used. They have managed to load over 100 videos in the past three days, but the main account has been banned, which was YouTube,” Team Pachedu said.
Team Pachedu also published a letter written by YouTube addressed to Angel giving reasons why they refused to remove the content from the platform.
“Hi Uebert Angel, We are concerned that your copyright notification may not be valid for some or all of the videos identified in your notification,” partly read the letter.
“Please keep in mind that in many countries, it is legal to use copyrighted works in specific ways without the owner’s authorisation, particularly for transformative purposes such as news reporting, parody, commentary, or review.
“Some countries protect such uses under doctrines of ‘fair use’ or ‘fair dealing’, while others allow for specific exceptions to copyright protection.”
Efforts to get a comment from Angel were fruitless.

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has suffered a blow in his bid to appeal the judgment of the High Court Pretoria.
The court had invalidated his December 2021 decision to terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) and an interim interdict, which stopped government from detaining or deporting any holder of the permit.
Motsoaledi turned to the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein in November last year to appeal the judgments, which he argued had set a dangerous precedent.
In an order that the SCA issued, Motsoaledi lost with costs the application for leave to appeal.
The appellate court has found no reasonable prospect of success in an appeal.

By A Correspondent| Dynamos vice-chairperson Vincent Chawonza is outraged over what he termed unprofessionalism by Khama Billiat’s handlers after Yadah successfully snatched the former Warriors talisman transfer on Tuesday.
The Harare giants, who had seen off competition from league rivals Manica Diamonds, Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum, Simba Bhora and Caps United believed a deal was pretty much over the line after weeks of protracted negotiations.
But then, Yadah moved in swiftly to nick the 33-year-old from under the Harare giants’ noses.
Chiwonza claims they had agreed on a year’s contract worth US$20 000 with Billiat’s management team, a deal the two parties was set to sign yesterday on the player’s arrival from his base in South Africa.
However, Yadah finessed their contact with the player’s camp through former Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare who brokered the deal and, to DeMbare’s fury, Billiat completed the blockbuster move to the Miracle Boys on a one-year contract, in the biggest and most brutal transfer hijacks in local football.
NewsDay Sport understands Billiat’s first preference was the Glamour Boys, but his head was turned when Yadah paid his air ticket and offered in excess of US$50 000 per annum in salaries, in addition to US$20 000 signing on fees.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star will also get a high-end vehicle and a fully furnished flat in one of Harare’s affluent suburbs as part of the deal.
In the wake of Billiat’s U-turn, Chawonza tore into the player’s management with the Harare businessman accusing them of misleading the former Warriors star into making bad career decisions.
The outspoken administrator pointed to Billiat’s unceremonious exit from Kaizer Chiefs as another good exhibit of his handlers’ poor management skills.
Billiat is managed by Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa.
“People who are around him (Billiat) are ill-advising him. I think the blame goes to his managers, starting with the decision not to renew his stay at Kaizer Chiefs,” Chawonza said.
“He wasn’t supposed to leave Kaizer Chiefs in the first place. We tabled a similar offer as Yadah, but they were swift and gave him cash on Tuesday when he arrived.
“We had promised him US$10 000 this week on Thursday and the other US$10 000 next week. But Yadah gave him US$15 000 on the spot. With us, his salary was supposed to be US$3 000
“I think he listens too much to the people who are around him, yet they are ill-advising him. As a player, he has made some decisions that I did not expect of him.
“But it all boils down to his management because they are not leading him well. He was the one who initiated talks with us during George Chigova’s funeral. Then we initiated talks with our coach. Everything was on course until Tuesday,” Chawonza added.
While Dynamos were expecting Billiat to arrive in the country yesterday to finalise the deal, they were surprised when he touched down at the Harare International airport two days earlier, on Tuesday night.
He was welcomed by Yadah officials led by the club’s chief executive officer Admire Mango and chairman Everson Chatambudza before being whisked away in a convoy of top of the range cars into the city centre.
Yadah is expected to unveil Billiat today.
By A Correspondent| Opposition figure Nelson Chamisa called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to follow the example of the late Namibian President Hage Geingob in championing the principles of free and fair elections.
Chamisa made these remarks during a visit to the Namibian embassy in Harare to convey his condolences following Geingob’s passing on February 4.
Highlighting Geingob’s role as the chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security, Chamisa emphasized the late leader’s commitment to addressing the contested election results of August 2023.
Chamisa, the former leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), had contested the election outcome, alleging rigging.
Representing the people of Zimbabwe who supported his cause, Chamisa asserted, “President Geingob was familiar to me in my personal capacity as a young African leader, but more importantly in the context of Sadc.”
He shared that his engagement with Geingob aimed at finding common ground and a solution to the disputed elections.
Describing Geingob as a democrat, Chamisa urged African leaders to follow his exemplary conduct.
He stressed that Geingob’s commitment to justice and freedom, along with his avoidance of arresting opponents or undermining election integrity, served as a noteworthy example.
Chamisa noted, “He held elections without undermining their integrity. He observed the guidelines on elections within Sadc, so for that reason, we honour him, and we pay our tribute to the great giant.”
He emphasized that the late Namibian President’s approach should serve as a lesson for regional leaders who face challenges in adhering to democratic, free, and fair election guidelines.
The August 2023 elections, flagged by election observer missions for not meeting local, regional, and international standards, prompted Chamisa’s party to advocate for a rerun, though without success.
Despite leaving the opposition party he unveiled in January 2022, Chamisa has not disclosed his next political move.
By A Correspondent| Mashonaland East is the latest province to embrace former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Nelson Chamisa’s blue movement which is currently being spearheaded by recalled legislators Ostallos Siziba and Amos Chibaya.
Yesterday, Siziba shared images of their meeting in Mashonaland East with hundreds of people clad in blue outfits in attendance, in a move that shows how the yet to be named movement is already popular among the masses.
Chamisa resigned from CCC saying the movement had been hijacked by the ruling party and is yet to announce the name of his new movement.
Posting on Twitter, Siziba had this to say;
“We have arrived in Mashonaland East Province to converse with Citizens in this part of the country. In the face of great assault to authentic politics in this country- we stand tall! From Uzumba to Chikombo to Mudzi- Citizens are clear- they continue to pronounce the leadership of President Chamisa. We are thankful to these drivers of Alternative politics in communities. We keep moving- until victory.”
This was followed by eye-catching images of the meeting as posted below;
An American citizen, Austin Ray (50), has been fined US$300 for unlawfully escaping custody and entering the country without proper authorization.
Ray appeared before Magistrate Ruth Moyo facing accusations of violating the Immigration Act and escaping from legal custody.
According to the state prosecutor, Nomsa Kangara, the incident occurred on February 19, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, when Ray disembarked from an Airlink flight at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare.
Upon reaching the immigration checkpoint, Ray presented his American passport with the intention of applying for a holiday visa.
However, it was revealed in court documents that Ray lacked the necessary written authorization from the minister, a requirement for entry.
Consequently, he was denied entry and detained in the Immigration temporary holding cells for impending deportation.
Allegations suggest that Ray managed to escape from lawful custody at the airport and illicitly entered the country before being apprehended by authorities.
