By Religion Reporter | The controversial Prophet Richard Chiza on Sunday joined the activist Hopewell Chin’ono in encouraging the recently released legislator, Job Sikhala, to subscribe to a psycho-trick by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), which frames him as a Nelson Mandela reincarnation.
This scheme, which includes Chin’ono’s poetics orchestrated by the CIO two years ago, is aimed to delude Sikhala and a UK-based cousin into confessing under duress that they are the incarnates of Nelson Mandela.
The plot, previously uncovered by ZimEye, involves three members of the notorious intelligence agency who, following the duo’s arrests related to state harassment, initiated a series of phone calls and visits over the last 2 years. The objective was to entangle them in legal definitions of terrorism similar to those Mandela would face under current laws, thereby justifying potential harm against them and numerous others.
During a church service, Prophet Chiza spoke saying, “I am not prophesying, I am interpreting because I don’t want people to say Chiza prophesied, no, it’s a dream.” He advised Sikhala to abandon his usual suits, suggesting a divine message requiring compliance. Sikhala, in his response, acknowledged the prophet’s guidance, affirming the unusual resonance of Mandela’s voice in his speech, a claim that has sparked rumors among followers and the public alike.
This incidents raise profound questions about the manipulation of spiritual beliefs for political ends and the psychological pressures faced by political detainees in Zimbabwe. The conversation between Chiza and Sikhala not only sheds light on the complexities of Zimbabwe’s political and spiritual landscape but also highlights the intricate ways in which state apparatus may be employed to subdue dissent and manipulate public perception.
Meanwhile, the below audio recording is of the controversial activist Hopewell Chin’ono screaming out while walking away from legend singer Thomas Mapfumo’s photoshoot in Leicester, UK.
Chin’ono in the audio accuses the country’s most popular politician, Nelson Chamisa of neglecting Job Sikhala, saying he was wasting time tweeting while Job Sikhala was suffering in prison. He says Chamisa seemed more concerned over his register-to-vote rallies that over Sikhala’s plight.
Ironically Chin’ono has also accused Chamisa of not holding any register-to-vote rallies in the run up to the 2023 elections.
He accuses Chamisa of sending him pictures of his (Chamisa’s) rally during Sikhala’s trying moments.
“He sent me [rally pictures), I don’t tweet things like that,” says Chin’ono.
The former legislator, Tafadzwa Musekiwa then answers back asking if the rally “is the Kariba one,” to which Chin’ono blows back saying,
“I was being tweeted to and would just ignore; everything I was getting tweeted and would just ignore. There is someone who is in prison [and he’s doing this],” he says in the clip captured by ZimEye in July 2022, comments which Zimbabweans have re opened as they connect them to Chin’ono’s allegation that Nelson Chamisa’s party is going to split because according to him (Chin’ono) the CCC leader is incompetent.
Since 2022 Chinono has continued berating Chamisa saying he focuses too much on citing Bible verses. while Sikhala is suffering.
Chamisa has chosen to ignore the commentator.

She also says she has to repeat these allegations in order to alert the nation over how he has hurt many people since his Marlborough High School days.
“What he did to me without remorse, if he does it to Zimbabwe without remorse, will there be any chance of a reversal?,” says Grace Mupfurutsa, around the time of Chin’ono’s first arrest by the Zimbabwe military government he’s been working for, on 18 Aug 2020.

In a recent development, the Zanu PF Varakashi team has stirred controversy by advocating for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office. The party, which currently holds a majority in parliament, has proposed amendments to the constitution, prompting a heated discussion within Zimbabwean political circles.
The Varakashi team took to Facebook to release a statement outlining sinister proposals.
This move has raised eyebrows among citizens and opposition groups, questioning the implications it could have on the country’s democratic processes.
Zanu PF has put forward the suggestion to hold elections after a period of 10 or 15 years, arguing that this would allow for uninterrupted development.
This proposal, however, has faced criticism for potentially undermining the principles of a democratic system, which thrives on regular, fair, and transparent elections.
Secondly, Zanu PF proposed elimination of by-elections in the event of a recall or the passing of a seated candidate.
Instead, the party would internally select a replacement from its members.
While this may streamline the process for the ruling party, critics argue that it could disenfranchise voters who are deprived of the opportunity to choose their representatives through a democratic vote.
Perhaps the most contentious proposal in the statement is the call to remove the term limit for the President, effectively allowing an unlimited number of terms in office.
This move raises concerns about the consolidation of power and the potential erosion of checks and balances within the political system.
The statement justified these proposals by citing the majority Zanu PF holds in parliament, suggesting that constitutional amendments are necessary for the betterment of the country.
However, the opposition and civil society groups are likely to vehemently oppose these changes, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic values and ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
As discussions unfold, the push for constitutional amendments by Zanu PF sparks a critical debate on the future of Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
The balance between stability and democratic governance hangs in the balance, as citizens and political stakeholders closely watch how this unfolding narrative will shape the nation’s trajectory.

By Political Reporter- Wicknell Chivayo, a convicted criminal and controversial figure, has embarked on a staggering US$5 million spending spree, leaving many to wonder about the origins of his extravagant funds.
The socialite, also known as Sir Wicknell, has been making headlines by generously gifting high-value luxury cars to various individuals, raising eyebrows regarding the motives behind his flamboyant spending.
Chivayo’s recent acts include presenting local musicians Jah Prayzah, Sulumani Chimbetu, and Sandra Ndebele with expensive Mercedes-Benz vehicles, with the total cost of his recent spree estimated to be close to US$5 million.
While public opinion initially dismissed these gestures as publicity stunts, the sheer magnitude of his spending has captured widespread attention.
Over the past year, Chivayo has showcased a pattern of extravagant gift-giving, ranging from cash to houses and vehicles, to individuals such as Chief Hwenje, DJ Masomere, and even church members.
Despite being dogged by questions surrounding the source of his seemingly limitless wealth, Chivayo has continued his unabashed spree of generosity.
The 41-year-old businessman, who boasts an impressive collection of luxury cars, reportedly spent US$1.9 million on vehicles alone in a single week in 2023.
His fleet includes multiple Rolls Royce vehicles, a Range Rover, and a Mercedes-Benz Maybach, among others, with an estimated overall value surpassing US$5 million.
Chivayo’s actions have attracted the attention of the public, with some individuals attempting to capitalize on his generosity by openly soliciting gifts through social media.
However, questions about the true extent of Chivayo’s wealth and the sources of his funds remain unanswered, as the socialite maintains a guarded private life and evades inquiries during press conferences.
Chivayo’s primary known business venture, Intratrek Zimbabwe, is recognized for the yet-to-be-completed Gwanda Solar Project.
However, details about other business endeavors owned by Chivayo are scarce.
In contrast to other flamboyant figures like the late Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure and Philip “Boss Phidza” Chiyangwa, who had established businesses, Chivayo’s business background remains relatively obscure.
Despite the unanswered questions surrounding his wealth and spending habits, Chivayo continues to captivate the public’s attention through his ostentatious displays on social media.
His penchant for luxury, coupled with a lack of transparency about his business ventures, adds to the mystery surrounding the man who seems to have mastered the art of attracting attention.

By A Correspondent | The state owned Kwayedza paper reports how in the heart of Harare, amidst a tar-covered waterway devoid of any water, a peculiar sight has emerged. A woman employed by the Harare council reported encountering an insect typically found in abundant water bodies like seas or lakes.
There have been whispers of ‘giant prawns’ sighted along George Silundika Street near the shops. Crowds have flocked to witness these marvels, with some attributing their presence to poverty, suggesting that these insects are commonly utilized by businessmen and may have ended up here after being discarded.
Others believe these occurrences are the work of women engaged in traditional magic practices. When Kwayedza arrived on the scene, the smaller creature had been crushed to death, yet the larger one was still alive.
Rudzi rwedu rwakaita sei runongotya zvese zvese, ruchimhanyira kufungira huroyi? These are called giant prawns that are very nutritious. They are imported alive by hotels, and sometimes the find their way into water bodies from those hotels and they multiply very fast. There is nothing witchcraft about that. Actually, those who do fish farming should be encouraged to farm these because they are very expensive a sort after in so top of the range hotels. Very nutritious indeed.

By Political Reporter- Harare East MP and senior Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) member Allan Norman “Rusty” Markham has resigned from Parliament.
In a letter dated 02 February 2024, and addressed to the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda, Markham said his resignation was with immediate effect. He wrote:
I am currently the sitting Member of Parliament for Harare East constituency, having been elected on the 23rd of August 2023, standing under the Citizens Coalition for Change Party led by President Nelson Chamisa.
I write to tender my resignation from Parliament with immediate effect, as required under by section 129(1)(b) of the constitution of Zimbabwe.
Markham becomes the second CCC MP after Fadzayi Mahere (Mt Pleasant), to resign from the 10th Parliament following founding president Nelson Chamisa’s decision to walk away from CCC late last month.
In the 2023 general elections, Markham garnered 15 642 votes, more than double those won by ZANU PF candidate Mavis Gumbo who received 7 621 votes.
The other candidates were Malvin Rzaru, a CCC double candidate who won 1 027 votes, MDC-T’s Stewart Musarurwa Mutizwa (108 votes), and Garikai Mlambo (UZA), who garnered 84 votes.
Markham has since advised Harare East residents that he has also resigned from CCC, saying the party has been infiltrated and no longer represents what he stands for.
By Political Reporter- Zanu PF has gained a two-thirds majority in Parliament after winning at least two constituencies in yesterday’s by-elections.

Six constituencies held by-elections, including Chegutu West, Seke, Goromonzi South, Mkoba North, Pelandaba-Tshabalala, and Zvimba East.
ZANU PF was able to secure a two-thirds parliamentary majority, which they had failed to achieve in the general elections held on 23-24 August 2023. They only needed to win two seats to reach this majority.
In Marondera, ZANU PF won all three vacant council seats. In Ward 10, ZANU PF received 489 votes compared to CCC’s 152. In Ward 8, ZANU PF had 435 votes while CCC had 121. In Ward 3, ZANU PF received 325 votes while CCC had 73.
Zvimba East constituency:
ZANU PF’s Kudakwashe Mananzva won the Zvimba East constituency with 10,359 votes, defeating independent candidate Oliver Mutasa and CCC’s Agrippa Alberito, who received 1992 and 855 votes respectively. Oliver Mutasa, a recalled CCC MP, ran as an independent candidate.
Pelandaba-Tshabalala constituency:
Joseph Tshuma of ZANU PF won the Pelandaba-Tshabalala constituency with 1845 votes, defeating CCC’s Moreblessing Tembo (464 votes) and DOP’s Abraham Yona Nkomo (156 votes). This constituency was previously represented by Gift’ Ostallos’ Siziba before his recall by the CCC.
Mkoba North:
ZANU PF also claimed Mkoba North, with candidate Ncube Edgar receiving 2,415 votes and defeating Patrick Tayiya of DOP, who received 1,663 votes. The seat was previously held by CCC MP Amos Chibaya, who was recalled and then barred from standing in the by-election by a court.
Chegutu West Constituency:
Shakemore Timburwa of ZANU PF won the by-election in Chegutu West Constituency, becoming the MP with 6,697 votes. The previous CCC candidate, Admore Chivero, lost as an independent candidate, receiving 2,626 votes. Gift Konjana of MDC-A received 668 votes.
Goromonzi South Constituency:
In Goromonzi South Constituency, Washington Zhanda of ZANU PF won with 6,865 votes, while Reuben Chikudo of CCC received 1,067 votes.

In a perplexing display of misplaced priorities, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration chose to allocate funds towards a modelling initiative while Zimbabwe grapples with a severe shortage of vital medications.
The government, under the pretext of promoting national identity, spent significant amounts of money on a modeling event instead of addressing pressing issues affecting the country, such as a cholera outbreak and persistent economic challenges.
Zanu PF, in a statement released on Saturday, highlighted an update from Masvingo Province, where a fundraising dinner hosted by YoungWoman4ED focused on promoting the national fabric with the theme “My Culture, My Pride #JiratakayendanaAmai.” The dinner took place at the Flamboyant Hotel.
The event was graced by Minister of Tourism, Honourable Barbra Rwodzi, who served as the guest of honour.
Other notable attendees included Ezra Chadzamira, Minister of ICT and YoungWoman4ED national Chairman Tatenda Mavetera, Yeukai Simbanegavi and Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Chairman Robson Mavhenyengwa.
The symbolism of the national bird for Zimbabwe and the zigzag design representing Great Zimbabwe was discussed during the event.
Chadzamira also acknowledged the tourism industry’s positive contribution to the economy in 2023.
Commending YoungWoman4ED for promoting the national dress as a symbol of Great Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwean bird, Chadzamira highlighted various initiatives, including a goat-rearing program launched across all 7 districts to empower women.
The fundraising dinner witnessed significant pledges, with Marisa World Wide and other business figures contributing over $1000.
The successful event attracted various organizations, government officials, Zanu-PF leadership, and members of the business community.
Minister of Tourism, Babra Rwodzi, lauded “Her Excellency” for designing a fabric that reflects and symbolizes Zimbabwean culture. The prints on the fabric were explained, emphasizing their cultural significance.
The evening concluded with a modeling show, featuring representatives from all 7 districts showcasing the national dress in categories such as smart casual, culture, and traditional prints. Notably, the culture showcasing brought emotional moments as the Chiredzi model performed the “bhengu bhengu” dance from the Tshangani culture, leaving honorable ministers and MPs visibly moved.

By A Correspondent | In a somber announcement, Namibia mourns the loss of President Hage Geingob, who passed away on Sunday at Lady Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek. The news was confirmed by acting President Nangolo Mbumba, through a heartfelt statement on the late president’s official Facebook page, revealing that Geingob’s final moments were spent with his family by his side.
President Geingob, aged 81, had recently been diagnosed with cancer, and his health battle was made public just three weeks before his untimely demise. The nation had rallied in hope and support for their leader, only to be faced with this tragic loss, marking a profound moment of grief for Namibia.
Hage Geingob, a figure of immense significance in Namibia’s political landscape, has been lauded as a “distinguished servant of the people” by Mbumba. His contributions span decades, deeply entwined with the fabric of the nation’s history, liberation struggle, and its path towards independence. Geingob’s pivotal role as the “chief architect of our constitution” and a “pillar of the Namibian house” underscores the profound impact of his leadership and vision for the country.
Ascending to the presidency in November 2014 with a resounding victory, Geingob’s leadership was further solidified in November 2017 when he became the third president of the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), following a significant win at the party’s 6th Congress. His commitment to regional development and cooperation was evident during his tenure as chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) starting in August 2018, showcasing his dedication to not just Namibian but also regional prosperity and unity.

ZIMBABWEAN musician Dereck Mpofu has joined forces in a collaborative effort with Congolese musician Etienne on a song aimed at raising awareness on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
Stereotypes surround most NTDs including Leprosy, hookworm infection and ascariasis.
In a bid to create a conversation around the treatment of such diseases; Dereck Mpofu collaborated with Congolese artist Etienne to release a song titled Unite, act, eliminate NTDs.
“So the 30th of January was the day of commemoration of NTDs, a group of more than 20 illnesses that are prevalent in tropical areas. These affect mostly impoverished communities and disproportionately affect women and children.
So, the reason why I decided to come up with a song was that music goes beyond PowerPoint it goes beyond books it goes beyond presentations, so within the entertainment perspective, you have the learning of various topics.
We have done this with environment, with health issues even with the current cholera epidemic that is happening in Zimbabwe.
I do believe going forward NTDs like leprosy, and Bilharzia which affect more than two billion people in the world have to be spoken about they have to be known they are curable, and they can be eliminated.
Just like with the theme for this year ‘Unite, Act and Eliminate’ I was just bringing people around these issues urging them to just unite to act on them and then to possibly eliminate them, especially in Zimbabwe and Sub-Saharan Africa,” said Mpofu.
The song which was released at a time the world marked the World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day on the 30th of January is receiving global acclaim with health practitioners joining the challenge.

In a stunning turn of events, Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-declared interim Secretary General of the CCC, finds himself in the midst of a crumbling world. Once a figure making waves in political discourse, Tshabangu’s recent absence from social media platforms signals a stark departure from the limelight he once occupied.
Tshabangu, whose name has been synonymous with controversy, has fallen off the radar, with his presence on social media notably absent.
The last public statement attributed to him was posted a staggering four years ago, a stark contrast to the frequent updates and engagement he once maintained.
The quoted statement from four years past sheds light on Tshabangu’s stance within the political arena.
In it, he distinguishes his approach from what he terms the “Politics of the big man,” emphasizing a commitment to the “Politics of the good idea.”
The declaration exudes confidence, asserting an unwavering stand for democracy and transparency as foundational goals.
However, the subsequent silence and disappearance from social media platforms raise questions about the trajectory of Tshabangu’s political journey. The once vocal advocate for a particular brand of politics seems to have retreated into the shadows, leaving followers and observers in the dark about his current status and activities.
Speculation abounds regarding the reasons behind Tshabangu’s sudden disappearance.
Some suggest internal strife within the CCC, while others propose external pressures as potential factors.
The lack of recent statements or updates from Tshabangu himself adds an air of mystery to the situation, leaving room for various interpretations and conjectures.
In the fast-paced world of politics, where visibility often equates to influence, Tshabangu’s sudden exit from the public sphere is a significant development.
It prompts reflection on the fragility of political standing and the unpredictable nature of public perception.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Tshabangu’s absence becomes a symbol of a once-prominent figure’s decline.
The contrast between the bold declaration of principles in his last statement and the subsequent radio silence raises questions about the resilience of those who advocate for alternative political ideologies.
Sengezo Tshabangu’s retreat from social media and the public eye marks a dramatic chapter in his political journey.
The reasons behind this disappearance remain shrouded in mystery, leaving followers and political analysts to contemplate the fate of an individual who once sought to redefine the political narrative.
Whether this absence signifies a reevaluation of strategy, a response to internal challenges, or a broader shift in political dynamics remains to be seen, but Tshabangu’s world, for now, stands in silent disarray.

In today’s digital age, mobile devices have become more than just communication tools; they serve as gateways to immersive gaming experiences, such as the Lightning Roulette test. With the rise of mobile gambling, players can now access their favorite casino games anytime, anywhere. However, mobile gaming success requires more than luck; it demands strategic planning and savvy gameplay. In this article, we’ll explore some key strategies to help you navigate and succeed in the world of mobile gambling.
Choose Reputable Mobile Casinos
When it comes to mobile gambling, the first and foremost strategy for success is to carefully select reputable and trustworthy mobile casinos. Opting for platforms that are licensed and regulated by recognized authorities ensures a fair and secure gaming environment. Take the time to read reviews from fellow players, gauge the casino’s reputation, and verify its commitment to player safety and data security. By choosing a well-established mobile casino with a proven track record, you set the foundation for an enjoyable and secure gaming experience.
Master Your Favorite Games
Once you’ve settled on a mobile casino, the next strategic move is to focus on mastering a select few games. Rather than spreading yourself thin across a multitude of options, concentrating on specific games like slots, blackjack, roulette, or poker allows you to delve deep into the nuances of each. Make the most of free demo versions or low-stakes tables to polish your skills and tactics prior to entering high-stakes gameplay. Developing expertise in your preferred games deepens your comprehension of their regulations, probabilities, and complexities, providing you with a competitive advantage in the ever-evolving realm of mobile gambling.
Set Limits and Manage Your Bankroll
An indispensable strategy for success in mobile gambling involves effective bankroll management. Establish clear limits on your gaming expenditures and adhere to them steadfastly, regardless of whether you find yourself on a winning or losing streak. Divide your bankroll into manageable portions for each gaming session, and resist the temptation to chase losses by betting beyond your financial comfort zone. Embrace responsible gambling practices and consider utilizing tools provided by mobile casinos, such as deposit limits, self-exclusion options, and reality checks, to maintain control over your gambling activities.
Utilize Bonuses and Promotions Wisely
Mobile casinos often entice players with a variety of bonuses and promotions, adding extra value to the gaming experience. While these incentives can enhance your gameplay and potentially extend your time on the platform, it’s crucial to approach them with discernment. Carefully read through the terms and conditions associated with bonuses, paying attention to wagering requirements, withdrawal restrictions, and expiry dates. Focus on bonuses that align with your gaming preferences and betting style, and avoid falling into the trap of pursuing overly generous offers that may have concealed strings attached.
Practice Responsible Gaming Habits
Above all, practicing responsible gaming habits is a cornerstone of a positive and sustainable mobile gambling experience. Avoid engaging in gambling activities when feeling stressed, intoxicated, or emotionally vulnerable, as these factors can impair judgment and lead to impulsive decisions. Integrate regular breaks into your gaming sessions to rest and rejuvenate, and ensure that you prioritize other aspects of your life, such as work, family, and hobbies. Maintaining a healthy balance is key to preventing mobile gambling from becoming an obsession and ensuring that it remains an enjoyable form of entertainment. Remember that mobile gambling should enhance your overall well-being, not detract from it.
In conclusion, success in mobile gambling is within reach for those who approach it with the right strategies and mindset. By choosing reputable mobile casinos, mastering your favorite games, managing your bankroll effectively, utilizing bonuses wisely, and practicing responsible gaming habits, you can elevate your mobile gaming journey to new heights. With the convenience of mobile devices and the excitement of casino games at your fingertips, the possibilities for success in mobile gambling are endless. So, arm yourself with these strategies, embrace the thrill of mobile gaming, and embark on a rewarding journey filled with excitement, entertainment, and, hopefully, success.
TRADERS at Mbare’s Vito Complex are operating in fear following a series of violent attacks perpetrated by a gang allegedly aligned to Zanu PF youth leader Emmanuel Mahachi.
Following the violent attacks, Vito Complex traders have pleaded with party leadership and security agents for protection from Mahachi.
Vito Complex has been a subject of ownership disputes among Zanu PF functionaries including court challenges.
On Monday several operators ran for cover after axe wielding men pounced on them, destroying their wares, cars and assaulting others.
The attacks were captured on CCTV and the videos have since gone viral on various social media platforms leaving many calling for the arrest of the perpetrators.
The attacks are believed to have been done in revenge following the arrest of Mahachi last Saturday after another violent incident at the complex in which he allegedly pulled a gun and fired two shots in air while threatening to shoot welders at the complex.
On Monday Mahachi appeared at the Harare magistrates court answering to the allegations and a magistrate threw out the case, refusing to place him on remand on a robbery charge.
According to court papers, Mahachi threatened to kill one Bright Nyamusopo at the complex, pointing a gun at him, prompting Nyamusopo and other workers at the complex to flee, leaving behind their machinery which was then allegedly seized by Mahachi.
His lawyer while having an exchange with the investigating officer Cephas Hove said Mahachi was acting in self defence from intruders.
After the court’s decision, freeing Mahachi, his supporters allegedly went back to the complex attacking everyone viewed as being aligned to the owner of the complex Blessed Charakupa while boasting that nothing will happen to them as they control the system.
“We have incurred loses after our wares were destroyed by this gang. The evidence is there and we call upon the police to act on it. We cannot have a situation where one person wields so much power that everyone here is in fear. We are all from the same party and we should benefit equally. This is now tarnishing the image of the party,” a trader who preferred anonymity told this publication.
Allegations are that the recent court events have given the gang so much power to conduct themselves with impunity.
“They boast that nothing will happen to them as their leader (Mahachi) walked out of court free despite serious allegations against him. Everyone now fears that reporting to the police will be a waste of time as nothing will come out of it. We now appeal to the party’s leadership to intervene and restore peace,” another trader said.

The fight against dictatorship and authoritarianism remains at the forefront, and Tsvangirai’s endorsement is poised to galvanize support for Chamisa’s leadership.
As Zimbabwe grapples with political challenges and economic uncertainties, this endorsement could mark a turning point in the nation’s history.
The Tsvangirai legacy, now embodied by Richard, aligns with Chamisa’s vision for a democratic Zimbabwe, free from the shackles of autocracy.
The wish for blessings, achievements, and progress in the year ahead is not only a birthday sentiment but a hope for positive transformations in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
The collective efforts of those dedicated to the cause of democracy are crucial for paving the way towards a more inclusive and prosperous nation.
Richard Tsvangirai’s endorsement of President Adv. Nelson Chamisa signifies a merging of legacies, a passing of the torch in the relentless pursuit of a democratic Zimbabwe.
As the nation watches, this alliance may well shape the course of Zimbabwean politics and set the stage for a new chapter in the nation’s history.
By Political Reporter- CCC deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziva has dismissed former Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala’s claims that former party President Nelson Chamisa did not assist the outspoken politician in prison.
Sikhala claims that the opposition party neglected him during his nearly 600-day imprisonment at Chikurubu Maximum Security Prison.
Sikhala, released on Tuesday, January 30, after almost 600 days of pre-trial detention for inciting public violence in Nyatsime in 2022, asserted in an interview with SABC News at his Chitungwiza home that only his family and close associates advocated for his freedom during his incarceration. Sikhala stated: “Neither of the current protagonists in the quarrel and conflict in the opposition ranks did absolutely nothing about me when I was in incarceration for the sake of my freedom.” In response, Siziva, who collaborated closely with former party leader Nelson Chamisa during the campaigns leading up to the August 2023 general elections, countered Sikhala’s claims. Siziva mentioned that they visited Sikhala’s family multiple times, contributing both cash and groceries for their well-being. Siziva explained: “We accompanied President Chamisa several times to the Chitown house during the campaign; the motorcade was diverted to pass there and even gave the family $, and the wife knows it. After the presidential dinner, I personally was sent to deliver groceries there. Our diaspora teams communicated and supported the family with our knowledge, coordination, and approval.” Sikhala and fellow CCC activist Godfrey Karakadzayi Sithole were convicted on January 24, 2024, on charges of inciting public violence by Harare Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti. While Miti sentenced Sikhala to two years in prison, the sentence was wholly suspended on the condition of good behavior.
By – Two allies of the former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, Amos Chibaya and Gift “Ostallos” Siziva have again been barred from participating in today’s by-elections.
This happened after Friday the High Court granted CCC’s self-imposed Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, leave to execute, pending an appeal by the party’s recalled elected representatives in the Supreme Court, the court’s judgment, which removed the names of the affected members from the ballot papers for today’s by-elections.
Tshabangu approached the High Court after the former MPs and Councillors, whom he recalled Amos Chibaya and Gift “Ostallos” Siziva, successfully filed nomination papers to contest the 03 February by-elections.
The former CCC MPs and councillors then appealed against the High Court ruling at the Supreme Court, which is yet to make a ruling on the application.
Since it is a generally acceptable principle that at common law the noting of an appeal suspends the operation of a judgment, Tshabangu approached the High Court to ensure that the ruling that barred the recalled members from running in tomorrow’s by-elections, is enforced pending appeal.
In his ruling, Justice Pisirayi Kwenda declared:
The application be and is hereby granted.
The applicants be and are hereby granted leave to execute this court’s judgment in case no HCH 197/24 pending the appeal in case no SC44/24.
Each party shall bear its costs.
This means that the likes of Chibaya and Siziva will not stand for Mkoba North and Pelandala-Tshabalala, respectively, as CCC candidates in the 03 February by-elections.
By Business Reporter- Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube has reintroduced duty on essential commodities as a situation that would pressure the already economically stressed Zimbabweans.
Mthuli, Thursday, reversed emergency measures implemented in May last year that temporarily allowed duty-free imports amid shortages and price manipulations.
He announced that goods affected by the reinstated duty include cooking oil, maize meal, milk, sugar, rice, flour, salt, bath soap, washing soap, washing powder, toothpaste, and petroleum jelly.
These items, primarily produced or packed in Zimbabwe, were initially granted duty-free status to counteract escalating price rises.
By Political Reporter- Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MP for Binga North, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, has resigned from the opposition party, echoing the sentiments of ex-leader Nelson Chamisa that the party is “infiltrated and contaminated beyond redemption.”
Sibanda, who was among the first batch of 15 elected politicians recalled from Parliament by Sengezo Tshabangu in October 2023, resisted the urge to immediately follow Chamisa’s resignation, hoping that the remaining members could salvage the party’s infrastructure.
However, Sibanda claimed that attempts to initiate the formation of a steering committee to run the party’s affairs were in vain.
He accused those claiming leadership within CCC of being motivated by titles and personal gains rather than the struggle of the majority.
Sibanda emphasised that his departure from CCC does not mean retirement from politics, and he will continue engaging with communities while awaiting the direction promised by Nelson Chamisa.
By Crime & Courts Reporter- The High Court in Harare Friday granted CCC’s self-imposed Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, leave to execute, pending an appeal by the party’s recalled elected representatives in the Supreme Court, the court’s judgment which removed the names of the affected members from the ballot papers for today’s by-elections.
Tshabangu approached the High Court after the former MPs and Councillors, whom he recalled, among them Amos Chibaya and Gift “Ostallos” Siziva, successfully filed nomination papers to contest the 03 February by-elections.

By Walter Mzembi| Chamisa @nelsonchamisa has unconditional support from a very significant constituency of Zimbabweans, which is in a permanent mode of defiance , according to that constituency he can do no wrong & even if the wrongs are self evident they are willing to gloss over it & forgive him after all he is 46 ! When you were 46 what decisions were you making ? Were they wisdom based decisions or lack thereof?
Most people at 46 were crashing their first marriages or going through some midlife crisis of sorts only to stabilise in their 50s. So Zimbabweans will follow him anywhere including to the Movement he is proposing . Voting for someone is a covenant , it is an energy that you cannot destroy through politics, its spiritual .
A sustainable solution to our broken down politics is engagement. You are not engaging Chamisa per se , you are engaging this constituency . So long and short of it this young man has got time , come to think of it Mugabe became Prime Minister at 57 , Chamisa has 10 years to perfect his art , imagine what is 10 years going to do to the guys in charge that are haunting all of us now !
This brings me to some list doing the rounds that purport to place me as Foreign Affairs Secretary in some Opposition outfit , i mean why would the authors of this incredulous list box me in a portfolio that i last served under #RGM ?
Notorious armed robber Musa Taj Abdul and accomplices have all been jailed 52 years each following their conviction for 13 counts of the heinous crime by Harare magistrate Ignatius Mhene.
Abdul was convicted together with Charles Lundu and Sean Andile Dlamini in December last year and have been awaiting sentencing. Until their arrest, the trio had been on the police wanted list for 20 years.
In coming up with their sentence, the magistrate took into consideration that the trio were unrepentant criminals who already have convictions. They will however serve 38 years effective each after part of their sentence was suspended on conditions of good behaviour.
Abdul and accomplices denied allegations during trial but prosecutors proved that they committed the offences. The court heard on July 24, 2020, the three pounced at house number 40 Longford Street, Queensdale, Harare while armed with a shotgun, pistols, hammer and iron bar.

Benedict Dube appeared before Plumtree magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware yesterday.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to Monday for sentencing.
Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa told the court that on January 27 Dube called his girlfriend and accused her of infidelity before threatening to bewitch her.
He told her that she was going to mensurate continuously.
Hours later he followed his girlfriend at her workplace and found her.
Dube struck the girl with her phone on the face and the phone got damaged.
He pulled her braids, knocked her down and punched her all over the body.
BURIAL OF THE LATE NATIONAL HERO COLONEL (RETD) KENNY CONSTANTINE MABUYA (CDE KENNY RIDZAI)
Live @ The National Heroes Acre, Harare
His Excellency President E.D Mnangagwa
We gather once again to lay to rest one of the pioneer cadres of our struggle of independence the late rtd Colonel Mabuya. Our National hero joined the liberation struggle at a tender age. He passed on at westend hospital last week. He was a hardworking, humble and dependable cadre. I worked with the late National hero. He was a trustworthy and dependable cadre. We have lost one of our most intelligent cadres. Today we rest him alongside other comrades. In our revolutionary party ZANU PF he was in the structures in the Department of Security. Today we therefore lay him alongside other cdes of the armed struggle.
On behalf of the Government, the Party ZANU PF, my family and indeed myself l express my heartfelt condolences to the Family of the late colonel Kenny Mabuya. May his soul rest in eternal peace. The late Kenny Mabuya was born on in Manicaland Province.
In the late National Hero, Cde Mabuya, the nation has lost an unflinching patriot, hardworking, intelligent, humble, forthright and dependable cadre and stalwart of our liberation struggle. He saw beyond tribes and regional origins, always focused on the grand national objective of a liberated and prosperous, Zimbabwe.
He was one of those who dared the colonial regime head-on and contributed to the formation of a credible and effective armed wing of our liberation movement, which dismantled the military capabilities of our former oppressors. The nation mourns with you the loss is ours together. He will be solemnly missed by all of us. May he rest in peace.
Despite securing sanctuary in Zambia, Kenny’s parents kept their children well informed about the political developments and ill-treatment of blacks by the racist colonial settler administration back home, in the then Southern Rhodesia. It was these revolutionary teachings that sowed seeds of political consciousness in the young Mabuya.
I challenge parents to take a leaf from this history and nurture the sense of self-belief and national pride among our children and young people. In 1969, Kenny skipped school, while in Form 2 and went to the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) offices in Lusaka and offered to join the Liberation Struggle. After being received and shortlisted, he was taken to the famous House Number 93 in Lusaka, where the late National Hero Cde Josiah Magama Tongogara resided.
Cde Mabuya was not deterred by the limitation of language or his up-bringing away from his motherland. It was this inclusive spirit and endearing spirit of identity of comrades such as the late National Hero and many others, which saw the national liberation struggle transcending the narrow boundaries of ethnicity, tribalism and regionalism.
We should have the responsibility to develop, modernise and industrialise our country. Through our efforts all Zimbabweans should work harder to occupy our niche in the global arena.
Stronger bilateral relations through our ongoing engagement and re engagement policy are providing opportunities for us to leverage on our comparative advantages at the global level.
2024 is promising to be a year of further growth and development. We must however stay alert and scale up our strategies in climate change adaptation and mitigation as we build greater resilience right from the household level.
To our National Hero Cde Kenny Mabuya l say farewell to you our patriots dedicate and loyal cadre. Go well son of the soil.

A disturbing trend is sweeping across the nation, as reports of suspected ritual murders are on the rise, leaving communities in shock and children as primary targets of these heinous acts.
The superstitious belief that killing individuals in a specific manner, particularly involving torture and processing certain body parts, can create and maintain wealth is contributing to an alarming increase in brutal killings, leaving many with unanswered questions.
The resurgence of ritual killings has prompted concerns and calls for action from various quarters.
Traditional healer Sekuru Banda, dismissing the superstitions, condemns those who propagate such beliefs, emphasizing the need for hard work instead of seeking easy money through horrific means. Banda urges a change in mindsets, highlighting the dangers of people being led astray in pursuit of illusory wealth.
To gain further insights, a news crew sought the perspective of psychotherapist Dr. Mertha Nyamande, who points to mental illness as a significant factor behind gruesome murders.
Dr. Nyamande explains that many offenders, especially those involved in removing body parts, may suffer from mental ailments or psychopathy, challenging the notion that these acts are rooted in ritualistic beliefs. From a legal standpoint, Mr. Moffat Makuvatsine sheds light on how the law addresses ritual killings.
While there is no specific provision for such crimes, they can be treated as murder committed under aggravating circumstances, potentially carrying the death penalty or life imprisonment.
The legal expert emphasizes that any murder proved to have ulterior motives may result in severe penalties.Recent cases, including the tragic death of Tapiwa Makore, have brought the issue of ritual killings to the forefront.
Tapiwa’s killers, his uncle Tapiwa Senior and Tafadzwa Shamba, were sentenced to death for their involvement in the gruesome crime.
However, the scourge continues, with a recent incident in Guruve involving the brutal murder of a three-year-old, whose body was decapitated and burnt, with missing body parts.
The perpetrators of this heinous act remain at large, underscoring the urgency for a concerted effort from law enforcement and communities to address and eradicate the deeply troubling surge in ritual killings.
As the nation grapples with this distressing epidemic, there is a pressing need for comprehensive strategies that include education, mental health awareness, and stringent legal measures to curb the prevalence of such horrific crimes.
In a poignant development, Honourable Job Sikhala has taken a proactive stance to ensure the long-overdue burial of Moreblessing Ali, who fell victim to a brutal murder by Zanu PF activist Pius Jamba in 2022.
The tragic incident not only shocked the nation but also resulted in Sikhala’s arrest, as he staunchly denounced the callous murder that claimed Moreblessing’s life.
Having spent an arduous 600 days in prison for speaking out against the injustice surrounding Moreblessing Ali’s death, Sikhala is now taking steps to facilitate her final resting place.
Moreblessing’s burial has been delayed since Sikhala’s arrest, prompting the respected politician to address the issue and bring it to a conclusion.
In a statement released on X, Sikhala expressed his deep sorrow over the prolonged delay in laying Moreblessing Ali to rest. He highlighted the necessity of bringing closure to this tragic chapter, emphasizing the urgency of making arrangements for her burial.
Sikhala’s commitment to facilitating the burial reflects not only his dedication to justice but also his empathy for the grieving Ali family.
By engaging directly with his clients, the Ali family, Sikhala is endeavoring to expedite the necessary arrangements to ensure that Moreblessing receives the dignified farewell she deserves.
The murder of Moreblessing Ali and the subsequent legal proceedings have been a harrowing ordeal for both her family and Sikhala himself.
The delay in her burial has added to the anguish, making Sikhala’s intervention a crucial step towards providing solace to those affected by this tragedy.
As preparations for Moreblessing Ali’s burial are set in motion, the nation watches closely, hopeful that this initiative will pave the way for closure and healing.
Sikhala’s dedication to justice and his unwavering support for the Ali family underscore the importance of addressing such heinous crimes and ensuring that the victims are remembered with the respect and dignity they deserve.
As Zimbabwe looks ahead to the promises of 2024, the question on many minds is whether President Emmerson Mnangagwa can deliver on his vision of full-scale development.
The Zanu PF leader’s optimistic outlook has been met with skepticism from observers, who question his ability to bring about meaningful change in the lives of the country’s struggling citizens.
President Mnangagwa’s declaration that 2024 is poised to be a year of substantial growth and development suggests a positive trajectory for Zimbabwe.
However, the skepticism surrounding this assertion stems from the enduring challenges faced by the nation, including economic hardships, political instability, and social unrest. In his statement, Mnangagwa emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant and scaling up strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
This acknowledgment of environmental challenges reflects a recognition of the complex issues Zimbabwe faces, but it also raises questions about the government’s overall preparedness to address such multifaceted issues.
Observers point to the persistent hardships experienced by citizens, such as soaring inflation, high unemployment rates, and inadequate access to basic services.
Many are skeptical that the promised development will translate into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.
The call for resilience, starting at the household level, echoes a need for grassroots efforts to complement top-down initiatives. However, critics argue that genuine development requires more than just rhetoric – it necessitates concrete policies, effective governance, and inclusive strategies that prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable.
President Mnangagwa’s leadership will be under intense scrutiny as the year unfolds, with citizens and observers alike keenly observing whether his promises translate into palpable improvements on the ground.
The success of his vision for 2024 hinges on the government’s ability to address the root causes of the challenges facing Zimbabwe, fostering an environment conducive to sustainable development.
As the nation awaits the unfolding events of 2024, the skepticism surrounding Mnangagwa’s pledge remains palpable.
Whether Zimbabwe will experience the anticipated full-scale development or continue to grapple with existing challenges will undoubtedly shape the narrative of President Mnangagwa’s leadership in the year ahead.

Approach mining as you would a business—invest strategically for long-term and sustainable profits. Create a small informal business plan, listing necessary items with exact values. Monitor expenses closely, identify a claim nearby, and refrain from distant investments. Expanding your investment scope ensures comprehensive oversight of all final production activities by month-end.
Your Presence Matters: Gold, a currency in its raw form, requires no purification.
In Zimbabwe, gold nuggets ranging from 5 points to 10 kg exist, but your absence jeopardizes your ability to witness or account for production financed with your own money. Be present from day one, thoroughly study the operations, and understand all risks and rewards. Family members may pose risks, as many gold-related thefts involve relatives, often children. Guard production ends vigilantly, leaving nothing to chance.
Prudent Monitoring to Avoid Overspending:
Minimize unnecessary travel for monitoring by spending at least 6 hours a day at the mine if possible. Public transport suffices for most trips, and avoid hiring transportation unless essential. If opting for a car, adjust your investment scope accordingly. Remember that prosperous days in gold mining should prompt wise planning and the creation of robust backups for future uncertainties.

Norton Member of Parliament, Richard Tsvangirai, is carving out a path reminiscent of his late father, the iconic founder of the Movement for Democratic Change, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai. Following in his father’s footsteps, Richard is focusing on addressing crucial issues within his constituency, particularly in the realm of education.
In a recent statement, Richard highlighted his dedication to understanding the challenges faced by local schools and teachers.
His visit to Takunda Primary School allowed him to witness firsthand the obstacles hindering the education system in Norton. One prominent issue he noted was the congestion in schools, a predicament that demanded urgent attention.
Acknowledging the severity of the situation, Richard Tsvangirai unveiled the Norton School Development Panel—a strategic initiative aimed at tackling the overcrowding issue.
Through this panel, he envisions spearheading the construction of new schools, providing a solution to the growing demand for quality education infrastructure in the constituency.
The commitment to education resonates deeply with the legacy left by his father, Morgan Tsvangirai, who was a pivotal figure in Zimbabwean politics and a staunch advocate for democratic principles.
Morgan Tsvangirai’s relentless pursuit of a better Zimbabwe, characterized by accessible and quality education, laid the foundation for his son to carry on the torch.
Richard’s proactive approach in identifying challenges and implementing solutions aligns with the democratic values that the Tsvangirai family has long stood for.

Zimbabwe opposition figure Job Sikhala reveals that he is currently facing renewed threats of arrest after being released from Chikurubi Maximum Prison, where he spent the past eighteen months in pretrial detention.
Sikhala’s imprisonment in June 2022 stemmed from accusations of inciting the public to seek vengeance for the murder of Moreblessing Ali, allegedly perpetrated by Pius Jamba, believed to be a member of the ruling party. On Tuesday, he was released after receiving a wholly suspended two-year jail sentence from Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti, who had convicted him of the offense the previous week.
In an interview at his residence, Sikhala disclosed that he had been warned by undisclosed state agents to cease engaging with journalists, adding, “I am now facing new threats. I have been informed by a deep state to stop these interviews,” while providing limited details.
Having experienced over 60 arrests in the last decade, with only one conviction that he plans to appeal at the High Court, Sikhala expressed the need for a respite as he contemplates his future course of action.
During Thursday’s interview, Sikhala shared the challenges he faces, stating, “My heart is bleeding after my law firm shut down following my arrest. I don’t know where to start from. I still need to reflect on whether I still need to go and pursue my legal profession, so this is my time for reflection.”
By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe’s population statistics may be significantly skewed due to the widespread underreporting of births and deaths, particularly among children under the age of five, in rural areas lacking adequate information and civil registration facilities, according to an investigation by NewsDay.
Traditional burial practices, often conducted without official notification, contribute to the underreporting of deaths, while many births go unrecorded.
Limited access to healthcare facilities, poverty, and a lack of awareness exacerbate the issue, creating an incomplete picture of mortality rates that could distort the overall population figures for the country.
During the April 2022 Population and Housing census, Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) reported that 64.7% of the recorded 78,384 deaths were registered, leaving 30.3% unaccounted for.
Aluwisio Mukavhi, ZimStat’s director of demography and social statistics, acknowledged the possibility of distorted population figures due to unregistered deaths.
“We recorded many unregistered deaths during the census period. However, we could not state the reasons when we collected the data,” Mukavhi stated, emphasizing the need to contact the department for detailed statistics.
The 2022 census indicated a population of 15,178,979 citizens in Zimbabwe.
Clifford Hlatshwayo, an opposition Member of Parliament, expressed concern about the unregistered deaths in remote rural areas.
He highlighted that registration often occurs only when a family member needs an identity document or birth certificate, especially in cases involving deceased children.
Tapiwanashe Chiriga, an advocacy officer from Heal Zimbabwe Trust, identified illegal transportation of bodies and limited access to the Registrar General’s office as major contributing factors.
Chiriga urged the government to establish birth and death registration offices at the ward level or, at the very least, have permanent centers in each constituency.
He emphasized the importance of public knowledge regarding the compulsory registration of every birth and death in Zimbabwe, as mandated by Section 10 of the Birth and Deaths Registration Act.
Highlighting the broader issue, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage noted that Zimbabwe, like many African countries, lacks a well-functioning civil registration and vital statistics system.
The 2013 Zimbabwe Constitution [Amendment 20] Act emphasizes the right of every person to be registered and obtain civil registration documents.
Douglas Mwonzora has claimed ownership of the opposition party offices in Bulawayo now occupied by the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
Mwonzora’s party criticised the CCC youths who repainted it blue on Monday and requested that the party vacate their property immediately.
This comes after CCC youth members repainted the Getrude Mthombeni House blue on Monday and hung a portrait of former party leader Nelson Chamisa, raising speculation that this was the colour of Chamisa’s new political party.
However the MDC expressed concern about the “blatant disregard” for property rights and the rule of law as demonstrated by certain members of the CCC, who were formerly identified by their yellow colours but seem to be adopting blue .
At the same time, Sengezo Tshabangu who poses as the interim secretary general of CCC, also claimed ownership of the party house, stating the party would take legal action against the youth, labelling them criminals.”
In a statement released on Tuesday, the MDC Secretary for Information and Publicity, Aaron Makahamidze, said while they acknowledge the internal challenges in CCC, the party urged them to uphold the principles of the rule of law and respect property rights.
“Despite our repeated attempts as law abiding citizens to communicate with senior officials of the CCC, requesting the vacation of our property in Bulawayo ,as well as several other properties across the country in their respective provinces, it appears that co-operation has been lacking,” Makahamidze said.
By Business Reporter- There are fears of an increase in prices of basic commodities following the re-introduction of duty on imported essential goods.
On Thursday, the government reversed emergency measures implemented in May last year that temporarily allowed duty-free imports amid shortages and price manipulations.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced Thursday that goods affected by the reinstated duty include cooking oil, maize meal, milk, sugar, rice, flour, salt, bath soap, washing soap, washing powder, toothpaste, and petroleum jelly.
These items, primarily produced or packed in Zimbabwe, were initially granted duty-free status to counteract escalating price rises.
Network for Environmental and Climate Justice (NECJ) 2024 World Wetlands Day Statement
February 2, 2024
On World Wetlands Day (2024), the Network for Environmental and Climate Justice (NECJ) reiterates the importance of wetlands for sustainable development and their centrality to human well being.
The 2024 theme for World Wetlands Day; “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing” outlines the interconnection between wetlands, sustainable development and human health.
It is regrettable though to note that despite
their critical importance to sustainable development and human well-being, wetlands are the most threatened ecosystem on earth. Statistics reveal that 64 percent of the world’s wetlands have been lost since 1900.
Consequently, this has led to reduced access to fresh water and this has affected an estimated 2 billion people worldwide. This calls for concerted efforts to protect the continued destruction of wetlands as part of efforts to safeguard human well-being and sustainable development.
Wetlands are critical for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Focus on wetlands in Harare, Zimbabwe
In Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, wetlands are the major source of water after run-off but they continue to be lost due to a number of activities that include unsustainable agricultural practices, sand mining, poor enforcement of the law, illegal construction activities and pollution.
Zimbabwe is a signatory to the Ramsar Convention on the Protection of Wetlands and the NECJ implores the government to protect wetlands as important water sources that are critical for human well-being and serve as special habitats for several forms of plants, birds and animals.
In Zimbabwe, wetlands are protected under the Environmental Management Act (Cap 20;27), Statutory Instrument 7 of 2007 on Environmental Management
(Environmental Impact Assessment and Ecosystems Protection) Regulations and the Government Gazette 380 of 2013.
With regards to protection of wetlands within Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare which in itself is a wetland city, the NECJ hereby makes the following observations and recommendations;
Harare’s outdated Masterplan- last updated in 1992- makes little reference to wetlands and their invaluable services for the City of Harare. This has paved the way for chaotic land allocations (including on wetlands) which often disregard environmental sustainability.
Wetlands degradation has been rampant in Harare and this is coming on the backdrop of erratic water supplies, a situation that
could be addressed through preservation and restoration of wetlands which are Harare’s second source of water after run-off.
It is worth noting that land use planning in Harare has largely failed to integrate the issue of wetland ecosystems and this has come with heavy costs for the city.
Harare continues to use outdated colonial legislation on urban planning which was initially meant for a smaller population and this works against proper land use and planning.
At a time, the city is using an outdated master plan, the demand for land for construction or housing purposes is continuously increasing in Harare and consequently, these projects are being
undertaken at the detriment of wetland ecosystems.
An updated Masterplan for Harare must appreciate the fact that the future sustainability of the capital is dependent on wetlands preservation and environmental sustainability. Proper land use planning in Harare should incorporate the need to protect wetlands in line with the vision of sustainable development of the capital.
In coming up with an updated Masterplan for Harare, there is a need to critically examine the state of the city’s wetlands with a view of sustainably managing them. There is an imperative need to conduct a detailed study of the environment and the state of wetlands so as to allow for appropriate measures to be taken in
protecting the environment. A number of wetlands in Harare need restoration after having been damaged while the remaining ones need to be served from invasion/destruction.
Development and implementation of Local Environmental Action Plans (LEAPs) as stipulated by the Environmental Management Act is also critical for the protection of wetlands. Effective town planning should be anchored on environmental sustainability and sustainable growth and development of the capital.
It is important to note that community stewardship is critical for the protection of wetlands and there is a need to mobilize grassroots communities to preserve these important water sources for human well-
being. This is at the core of the NECJ programming.

By A Correspondent In a startling incident on the evening of January 30, 2024, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Tongai Mnangagwa, was assaulted outside a birthday party venue in Harare.
The attack reportedly occurred around 22:15 hours at 61 Trud Mansions, located at the corner of 6th Street and Fife Avenue.
The altercation began when Mnangagwa was leaving the event and approached his convoy, which was parked outside the venue.
He was confronted by Antony Mwedziwendira, who accused the minister’s convoy of obstructing his own vehicles.
The confrontation escalated quickly, with Mwedziwendira physically assaulting Mnangagwa and one of his aides with open hands.
In the heat of the moment, upon recognizing Mnangagwa’s status as a deputy minister, the assailant fled the scene, leaving behind a collection of vehicles including a silver BMW 530I, a red VW Beetle, a blue Mercedes Benz C240, and a silver Mercedes Benz C220.
These vehicles were subsequently towed to ZRP Milton Park, where a thorough search led to the discovery of various drugs, including cough syrup and an assortment of pills, suggesting potential drug dealing activities by Mwedziwendira.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Fife Avenue has initiated an investigation into the assault and the suspicious substances found in Mwedziwendira’s vehicles. Despite the altercation, Mnangagwa sustained no visible injuries.
This incident has sparked concerns regarding the safety of public officials and the prevalence of drug-related activities in the capital.
The police are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation to ensure that justice is served, and measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
However, observers postulate there are indications the deputy minister is concealing something sinister and therefore trying to browbeat the man in question.
In a recent court ruling that has captured the community’s attention in Bulawayo, 35-year-old Farai Mabhande from King George VI Centre has been sentenced to six months in prison after a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a local cyclist. Mabhande, who pleaded guilty to culpable homicide before Magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa, faced justice for his actions that led to the untimely demise of Joshua Ndlovu.
During the sentencing, Magistrate Maphosa highlighted the court’s rationale, noting Mabhande’s acknowledgment of guilt and the principle that first-time offenders should be met with leniency. Additionally, Mabhande’s efforts to financially assist the deceased’s family were taken into consideration. As part of his sentence, Mabhande is required to pay a US$300 fine by February 29 or face an additional three months behind bars. Furthermore, three months of his sentence have been suspended for five years, contingent on his good behavior.
The court detailed the events leading to the fatal accident on October 19, 2022, around 4 pm. Mabhande was driving a white Nissan NP200 along the 12th Avenue extension when he collided with Ndlovu, who was crossing the road on his bicycle. Ndlovu succumbed to his injuries at the scene, marking a somber moment for the local community. The collision caused significant damage to Mabhande’s vehicle, including a damaged bumper, bonnet, and a shattered windscreen.
The post-mortem report revealed that Ndlovu’s death was caused by hypovolemic shock, pulmonary laceration, and injuries consistent with a road traffic accident. This incident has sparked conversations around road safety and the importance of vigilance while driving, as the community mourns the loss of Joshua Ndlovu and reflects on the consequences of the tragic event.
Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Member of Parliament, Job Sikhala, who endured a 600-day prison sentence, has made scathing remarks, alleging that his opposition colleagues failed to provide support during his time behind bars.
Sikhala, known for his outspoken stance and activism, expressed his disappointment in a pointed statement, stating that none of the current key figures in the opposition took any meaningful action to assist him during his incarceration.”
I was abandoned in prison, and neither of the current protagonists in the quarrel and conflict within the opposition ranks did absolutely anything about me when I was under incarceration,” Sikhala asserted. “
There is nothing much that would interest me in their conflict; these are the people who neglected me while I was in prison. They have never raised a finger.”
The former CCC MP emphasized that the responsibility of securing his freedom rested solely on his family, close friends, and allies who fought tirelessly for his release.
Sikhala’s remarks shed light on what appears to be a lack of solidarity within the opposition ranks, raising questions about the cohesion and support network within the political community.
Sikhala’s accusations highlight the challenges faced by political figures when dealing with internal conflicts and personal crises.
The fact that he feels neglected by his fellow opposition members during a critical period in his life reflects a potential fracture within the opposition, overshadowing their collective efforts.
The statement also raises broader questions about the unity and commitment within the opposition, as internal conflicts may hinder their ability to present a cohesive front against the ruling party.
Sikhala’s claim of being left to the support of his family and close associates suggests a need for greater solidarity and mutual support among opposition members.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how Sikhala’s allegations will impact the dynamics within the opposition and whether it will prompt a reevaluation of their internal relationships.
In the face of external challenges, the need for a united front becomes increasingly crucial for any political movement striving for change.
Job Sikhala’s accusations of abandonment by his opposition colleagues during his imprisonment shed light on internal divisions within the political landscape. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and support within political circles, especially during challenging times.
As the opposition navigates its way forward, addressing internal conflicts and fostering unity will be essential for its continued effectiveness in advocating for change.

By Showbiz Reporter- Controversial business Wicknell Chivhayo has donated two brand new Mec cars worth US$320 000 to musicians Jah Prayzah and Sulumani Chimbetu.
The latest to get his car ID is Sulu after Chivayo. Two weeks ago, he did the same to Jah Prayzah.
In just a matter of weeks, Chivhayo has splurged an astonishing US$320,000 on luxury cars for two local musicians, raising eyebrows and prompting questions about the source of his seemingly bottomless wealth.
Sulumani Chimbetu expressed his gratitude, stating, “To be honest, I never expected to receive this award from Chivayo, who has done a lot of philanthropic work in a short space of time. It’s an honor to be remembered and given such a gift among all the musicians we have in the country.”
The musician added, “When you get such a gift worth a fortune, it means a lot to us as players in the creative sector. I will continue serving all my fans with distinction. I also want to leave a legacy as was done by my late father.”
Chivhayo, in a social media post, applauded the Chimbetu family for their contribution to Zimbabwean music. He stated, “Congratulations to no one other than the current king of Dendera Music himself, Mr. Sulumani Chimbetu. Your immense contribution and continued support at our ZANU PF rallies cannot just go unnoticed.” He further shared his sentimental connection, saying, “Your Father Simon, the Chopper Chimbetu, was my very good friend and, to me, the best singer of all time. So today I say to you mwanangu Sulu please go and enjoy your new 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE300d. If you continue supporting ZANU PF, the revolutionary party, your future remains bright.” Sulumani Chimbetu joins a growing list of high-profile figures benefiting from Chivhayo’s generosity, including Jah Prayzah, David Masomere, Chief Hwenje, the ZIYA Cultural Arts Trust trio cast, and musician BaTroy, each receiving substantial gifts ranging from cars to houses and cash. Chivhayo’s extravagant gifting streak raises curiosity and speculation about the sources of his wealth, with observers questioning the motivations behind these grand gestures. The businessman remains unapologetic, attributing his generosity to support for ZANU PF and admiration for the recipients’ contributions to Zimbabwean culture.
By Business Reporter- The government has re-introduced duty on essential goods found in Zimbabwe.
The government is reversing emergency measures implemented in May last year that temporarily allowed duty-free imports amid shortages and price manipulations.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced Thursday that goods affected by the reinstated duty include cooking oil, maize meal, milk, sugar, rice, flour, salt, bath soap, washing soap, washing powder, toothpaste, and petroleum jelly.
These items, primarily produced or packed in Zimbabwe, were initially granted duty-free status to counteract escalating price rises.

Wicknell Chivayo’s path diverged from conventional education as he left school during his second year.
At the age of 15, he secured a position as a wages clerk at a local bus company, only to later venture into the world of illegal money changing at Harare’s Union Avenue Flea Market (now Kwame Nkrumah Avenue).
Amidst allegations of fraudulent activities, Chivayo was accused of pilfering US$6 million from an investor in Victoria Falls, alongside two accomplices.
This led to a 2-year prison sentence (2004-2006) at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, with reports suggesting that 8 years of the sentence were suspended.
Post-incarceration, Chivayo’s fortune took an unexpected turn, catapulting him into millionaire status practically overnight.
Rumors circulate that he claimed his first million rand at the age of 19 and his first million dollars at 23.In recent times, the controversial business magnate has gained attention for his generous gifting of vehicles.
The latest recipient is Jah Prayzah, a popular musician, who received a vehicle valued at US $180,000 from Chivayo.
Interestingly, Chivayo has undergone a transformation in his personal life, now being associated with an apostolic church.

Players from all around the world may virtually experience the competitive excitement of online poker sites while competing for real money rewards. Although established poker markets such as Europe still set the standard, new poker areas show remarkable growth and distinct regional features. Let’s look at how online poker sites are doing in a few developing international areas, each with unique regional characteristics.
India
In India, poker has been more popular in the last ten years, despite cricket’s supremacy. Numerous regional poker sites, such as Spartan Poker, Adda52, and PokerBaazi, target the Indian market. They also provide Texas Hold’em and a popular variation with references to Bollywood and cricket, along with Teen Patti. Young people in India have embraced poker as thrilling entertainment, and the stigma associated with skill-based games is being lessened by cultural focus on them.
However, expansion is hampered by unclear gaming rules. States independently decide what is lawful, resulting in a complicated patchwork of laws. Although poker is often considered a gray area, the business would grow if there were clear regulations. If legislative clarity is achieved, India’s tech-savvy populace, cultural focus on analytics, and enthusiastic young engagement suggest significant possibilities.
Latin America
Large online poker gains are being driven by strong poker fanbases and loose gambling legislation throughout Latin America. Mexico has one of the most developed poker scenes and player pools in the area. 2018 saw Brazil legalize online poker, making it available to more than 200 million players. Additionally, gamers in Chile and Peru may access larger South American player pools because of recent pooled liquidity agreements. Even more rapid expansion is constrained by a lack of banking choices and inconsistent national regulations. Encouraging Latin America to fully legalize online poker would unleash its full potential.
Africa
There are several early-stage burgeoning poker markets in Africa. With legal internet poker in place since 2004, South Africa leads the continent in this regard. Real online poker sites have increased uptake by accepting the rand currency. Nigeria’s younger, tech-savvy populace has demonstrated a strong fondness for the game. Nevertheless, despite strong interest, restrictive laws impede the expansion of the Nigerian market. Comparably, the expanding poker community in Kenya is still limited to uncontrolled peer-to-peer gaming. Although progress is slow, there is a huge unmet need for authorized online poker sites throughout Africa. The area may emerge as the game’s next frontier if important countries like Nigeria update their gaming rules.
Russia
With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in the early 2010s, Russia became a significant player in the online poker scene. However, current tight measures have resulted in serious setbacks. Real money online poker became illegal in 2020 when money transfers to almost all gambling sites were prohibited. Nonetheless, there is still a robust poker culture and a large appetite for the game in Russia. Although some people get over limitations by utilizing cryptocurrency, Russia’s online poker reputation is now in peril due to the in-country prohibition. Turning around and legalizing and regulating online poker will breathe new life into a place that was formerly among the top poker markets in the world.
Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia has attractive online poker opportunities due to its large youth population and increasing internet connectivity. The Philippines was a leader in the early stages of legal Internet gambling and continues to have a strong online poker industry supported by favorable tax laws. In other places, despite hefty regulatory expenses, Singapore has become a regional poker powerhouse that draws elite players. Emerging markets that show promise are Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. Given its enormous population, Southeast Asia has the potential to become a major online poker powerhouse if the law modernizes.
Even though the Americas and Europe now own the lion’s share of the online poker market, there is still much unrealized potential in growing areas. The increasing number of younger people who are online and have strong strategic gaming cultures has led to a major surge in the adoption of poker in places like Southeast Asia, Latin America, India, and Africa. Although there are still legislative challenges to be solved, there is a growing movement to legalize and regulate in order to satisfy the massive unmet demand in these fields. With new poker epicenters appearing in Asia, Africa, and other places, future poker maps seem to be much more global in scope.
Globally, online poker is still becoming more and more popular, but certain areas are behind because of antiquated laws and regulations. In many new economies, the potential for growth would be enormous if gaming regulations were updated to permit regulated and licensed online poker. Global online poker might be completely changed by sizable new player pools in Latin America, Africa, India, and other regions with sensible legal frameworks. Future developments for the game appear to be headed toward greater variety, prizes for strategic play, and improved cross-cultural ties.
Local tastes from Mexico City to Manila to Mumbai will change the global competitive poker landscape. Poker’s next internet boomtowns are set to develop outside its traditional western strongholds as regulatory obstacles begin to crumble. An online poker environment that is genuinely worldwide will be created by combining existing and growing areas.
The controversial activist Hopewell Chin’ono has tweeted a picture of the late icon Joshua Nkomo while suggesting he(Chin’ono)’s a modern Father Zimbabwe who was arrested on political charges and so people should overlook the words he planted into the incarcerated legislator Job Sikhala’s mouth.
Chin’ono’s own Twitter timeline shows that he was slapped with dismissible charges incitement to violence while in the process in his own words of proving himself since 28th May 2020 that he is the “Daddy” who does something against ZANU PF, the opposition will do nothing. This was while he advising the military to descend onto the same opposition regularly in order to as he claims, “reduce tension and suspicion.” See tweets and video below

Former opposition Zengeza Member of Parliament, Job Sikhala, says he will embark on “Thank You” rallies for the support he received from ordinary citizens across the country while he was in detention.
Sikhala was released on Wednesday night after spending nearly two years at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison for inciting public violence.
He was arrested in June 2022 and charged alongside fellow politician, Godfrey Sithole.
They were convicted last week for allegedly inciting Citizen Coalition for Change supporters to riot and avenge the death of murdered party activist, Moreblessing Ali.
On Wednesday night, Sikhala received a hero’s welcome as hundreds filled the streets of Chitungwiza after news spread that he had been released.
Armed police had to disperse singing and cheering supporters and well-wishers, including his army of lawyers who included Harrison Nkomo, Doug Coltart and Jeremiah Bamu.
In the moment of euphoria, Sikhala declared he would be going around Zimbabwe for thank you rallies and reassure his supporters that he is more than ready to continue the political struggle.
“Let me have some time to rest and then the organising secretary will meet and see how we are going to move throughout Zimbabwe, to thank them (people),” Sikhala said.
“We are not going out to go and see them; we are going out to go and thank the people of Zimbabwe for the great solidarity that they gave me during the period of my incarceration.”
Government critics and the opposition believe Sikhala had faced political persecution for his hard line stance against Zanu PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s misrule.
While incarcerated, reports emerged that the politician was seriously ill amid fears of food poisoning.
Zimbabweans at home and abroad once petitioned Mnangagwa to intervene to secure his release after several of his bail applications hit a dead end after Mnangagwa’s handlers said the President could not intervene in respect of the principle of separation of powers.
Some quarters also sought the intervention of the Southern African Development Community over Sikhala’s case without success.
Sikhala said he was indebted for the support he received while in detention.
“Zimbabweans have been wonderful, both inside and in the diaspora,” he said.
“They stood with me, through and through and we must thank them.
“We must visit and they see me ‘that man whom they were crying that God should intervene’ is out and also to reassure them that no matter the amount of persecution that I can go through I am prepared to suffer any consequences for the good of my country.”
Meanwhile, Ali’s family said yesterday that they were waiting for Sikhala on the way forward regarding the long-awaited burial arrangements of the activist, who went missing on May 24, 2022, and her body was found a little over two weeks later on June 11, after being murdered by Pius Mukandi, alias Jamba, who has since been jailed for 30 years.
The family had vowed that her remains will not be buried until their lawyer, Sikhala, was freed.
Ali’s son, Silence said they were yet to contact Sikhala to discuss his mother’s burial arrangements.
“We are yet to discuss with Sikhala on the way forward in terms of burying Moreblessing Ali,” Silence said .
Sikhala later posted on X (formerly WhatsApp) on the matter saying: “This issue needs to come to closure. I am engaging my clients, the Ali family, to make arrangements for her burial as soon as possible.”
Ali’s body was retrieved from a well at a homestead in Manyame. Her body had been hacked to pieces, with her intestines packed in a plastic bag.
In 2022, suspected State operatives were allegedly accused of trying to influence a small group in the family to secretly bury the activist.
However, the plans were scuttled in the last minute after fierce resistance from family members, who threatened legal action.
By A Correspondent| The Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube has reintroduced duty on basic commodities despite the threat of drought as announced by the Meteorological Services department.

He said the chaos that ensued after the resignation of Chamisa is embarrassing hence his decision to stop associating with what he termed dog’s breakfast.
“Following the resignation of Advocate Nelson Chamisa, it has become a dog’s breakfast in the CCC Party. The situation is chaotic and embarrassing. From a principled and ideological standing, I cannot continue to associate myself with a dog’s breakfast.
“I therefore wish to inform the public that I no longer have anything to do with the CCC Party in its various manifestations. Neither am I a member of any other political party.
“I will remain politically active and continue to fight for change and democracy in Zimbabwe,” said Maengahama.
CCC has been dogged by serious confusion following the resignation of Chamisa.
Former Harare East legislator Tendai Biti has since declared himself Vice President of CCC while Kuwadzana East representative has also changed his X bio to include being the Secretary General of the party.
This is despite the fact that Chamisa has insisted that the party did not have structures.
By Business Reporter- The introduction of penthouses by WestProp Holdings is changing the property landscape in Harare, which for decades had a limited stock of luxury dwellings.
Existing penthouses are in the avenues along the Tongogara Avenue area, but WestProp is spreading the properties at all its development sites, giving customers a choice of location and an option to assist in the design – customer taste.
Last year, WestProp CEO Mr Ken Sharpe announced the game-changing development amid a lot of excitement from a market that has long been deprived of the luxuries and exclusivity associated with penthouses.
Construction of the initial set of penthouses is underway at Millennium Heights, situated on block 4, popularly known as the ED block. Subsequent phases of similar housing designs featuring penthouses are scheduled for development on blocks 5 to 8.
The next exciting development to comprise penthouses will be The Hills Golf Lifestyle Estate and the Pomona City Estate Phase 3 & 4 – A city within a city.
Many Zimbabweans were opting to invest in penthouses in South Africa, Dubai and parts of Asia and Europe. Still, with the availability of premium housing units – the trend is set to change with more Zimbabweans buying the properties locally.
“We scanned the local market and discovered the massive demand for penthouses. We also listened to our growing customer base that requires a change in lifestyle. “We then decided to follow the market desires,” said Mr Sharpe.
The penthouses bring the much-needed flair to the growing property market, which now feeds on exclusivity and luxury lifestyles.
The signature penthouses are an affirmation of wealth as the units denote “arrival”. They are usually perched on the top floor with the best views, described by Mr Sharpe as “owning the clouds and witnessing daily sunrises and sunsets in unparalleled privacy.
The advantages of penthouses on ED block to customers provide the customer with the first opportunity to own a penthouse in the tallest residential building in the northern suburbs with panoramic views.
The ED block has vertically integrated gardens with spacious balconies/verandas which can be used as entertainment areas.
By Investigative Reporter | The below audio recording is of the controversial activist Hopewell Chin’ono screaming out while walking away from legend singer Thomas Mapfumo’s photoshoot in Leicester, UK.
Chin’ono in the audio accuses the country’s most popular politician, Nelson Chamisa of neglecting the jailed legislator, Job Sikhala, saying he was wasting time tweeting while Job Sikhala was suffering in prison.
Sikhala’s best friend, Tafadzwa Musekiwa then answers back asking if the rally “is the Kariba one,” to which Chin’ono blows back saying,
“I was being tweeted to and would just ignore; everything I was getting tweeted and would just ignore.
Meanwhile, Hopewell Chin’ono’s repeating behaviour is explained by an NHS mental health expert who among many others alleges on video she witnessed him engaging in credit card fraud and that he was once arrested over money laundering in UK, before changing his surname from Mukusha after leaving UK for Zimbabwe.
This is Hopewell Chin'ono's arrogance after being asked for a debate with the British solicitor he accused of deception this week, and his response is a brag about riches.

By Political Reporter- Deputy Tourism Minister and President Emerson Mnangagwa’s Nephew, Tongai Mnangagwa, was reportedly assaulted while attending a birthday party in Harare.
According to a police report filed at Fife Avenue Police base, the attack occurred around 22:15 hours at 61 Trud Mansions at the corner of 6th Street and Fife Avenue.
The altercation, the report said, began when Mnangagwa was leaving the event and approached his convoy, which was parked outside the venue.
He was confronted by Antony Mwedziwendira, who accused the minister’s convoy of obstructing his own vehicles.
The confrontation escalated quickly, with Mwedziwendira physically assaulting Mnangagwa and one of his aides with open hands.
The report further stated that upon recognizing Mnangagwa’s status as a deputy minister, the assailant fled the scene, leaving behind a collection of vehicles, including a silver BMW 530I, a red VW Beetle, a blue Mercedes Benz C240, and a silver Mercedes Benz C220.
These vehicles were subsequently towed to ZRP Milton Park, where a thorough search led to the discovery of various drugs, including cough syrup and an assortment of pills, suggesting potential drug dealing activities by Mwedziwendira.

Gweru, Zimbabwe – Vice-President Kembo Mohadi has expressed strong confidence in Zanu-PF’s anticipated victory in the forthcoming local authority and National Assembly by-elections scheduled for Saturday. Speaking through Zanu-PF National Commissar Mike Bimha at a major rally in Mkoba 13, Gweru, VP Mohadi highlighted the party’s significant achievements and its deep connection with the citizens across the nation.
The Vice-President’s remarks were aimed at rallying support for Zanu-PF’s candidate in the Mkoba North constituency, Edgar Ncube, emphasizing the party’s crucial role in the country’s socio-economic development. Ncube faces competition from Patrick Tayiya of DOP, after the Citizens Coalition for Change’s candidate was disqualified.
VP Mohadi pointed to major projects such as the nearing completion of the Dinson Iron and Steel Company (Disco) plant and the Gwayi-Shangani dam project as evidence of Zanu-PF’s commitment to national progress. He stressed the importance of voting for Zanu-PF to continue the developmental trajectory under President Mnangagwa’s leadership.
Addressing the challenges faced by urban residents, including water shortages and road conditions, Mohadi reassured that Zanu-PF is dedicated to addressing these issues head-on. He attributed last year’s electoral support in the Midlands province to the electorate’s recognition of Zanu-PF’s vision and governance.
With a call for unity and focus on the party’s long-term goals, VP Mohadi discouraged any internal conflicts and emphasized the collective effort required for Zanu-PF’s continued success. He also mentioned the party’s decision to reorganize its structure, prioritizing the strengthening of its base over immediate electoral concerns.
As the country gears up for the by-elections, Zanu-PF’s leadership remains optimistic about reinforcing its position through demonstrated development initiatives and a clear message of progress and unity.
Obert Mpofu, the Secretary General of ZANU PF, emphasized that the party’s primary purpose is to win elections during the Policy and Coordinating meeting at the Party headquarters this Monday.
Mpofu stated, “ZANU PF, as a political party, exists to win elections.
I urge comrades to continue their hard work to ensure that we attain as many seats as possible.”
Reflecting on recent developments, Mpofu mentioned, “This past week has been interesting and eventful. There are reports of Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the CCC, resigning from his own party, and rumors suggest his loyalists are leaving Parliament, potentially triggering by-elections.
We await the outcome and full implications of Chamisa’s decision, closely monitoring the situation.”
ZANU PF Spokesperson Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa added his perspective, asserting that CCC has lost momentum, riding on the ZCTU, a creation of ZANU PF.
Mutsvangwa concluded, “It’s time for Chamisa to realize that his game is up. They have run out of steam and lost their way, especially with a man who was a 100-meter runner. They have thrown in the towel.”
The central government has played a pivotal role in securing over 50 tractors from Belarus for Harare’s refuse collection efforts.
Aligned with the Operation Chenesa Harare initiative, spearheaded by the government, this procurement aims to address the mounting issue of uncollected garbage in the capital.
Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume, commissioning 31 of the 52 tractors obtained through the government’s collaboration with Belarus, expressed commitment to complementing national development efforts.
He emphasized the collaborative nature of the work between the city council and the government, pledging ongoing cooperation to restore Harare’s status as the “Sunshine City.”
Bison Agro Machinery CEO Mr Leanid Pinchuk assured that the tractors’ kits are locally available, streamlining repair and maintenance processes with workshops and trained personnel based in Zimbabwe.
This initiative aligns with the government’s successful Operation Chenesa Harare, resulting in the effective clearance of waste dumps across the capital.
The ruling ZANU PF party has also embraced this effort, extending it to grassroots levels, as seen in Harare West constituency’s Ward 16.Residents expressed enthusiasm for President’s leadership in revitalizing Harare’s cleanliness, citing the positive impact on their communities.
ZANU PF Ward 16 Aspiring Candidate, Arnold Kudakwashe Mhembere, acknowledged the President’s vision in spearheading clean-up campaigns nationwide and took the initiative to the grassroots level.
The government’s commitment extends to a sustainable clean cities program, addressing hygienic conditions and tackling the challenge of waste dumps, particularly in response to the increased incidence of cholera cases.
Christopher Mutsvangwa, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, asserted that Nelson Chamisa’s adoption of strategic ambiguity within the former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led to his downfall.
The embattled leader recently submitted his resignation, prompting Mutsvangwa to comment on the situation during a press conference at the Party Headquarters.
Mutsvangwa emphasized that Chamisa’s use of strategic ambiguity served as a smokescreen for implementing dictatorial tendencies, ultimately resulting in a loss of control over CCC.
According to Mutsvangwa, this approach backfired, forcing Chamisa’s resignation due to an inability to maintain authority within the opposition party.”
Strategic ambiguity was employed by Chamisa to cover up dictatorial tendencies and power abuse within CCC. Its repercussions have now compelled him to resign, given the increasing inability to control the opposition.
Contradictions have surfaced within the party, highlighting the consequences of not establishing solid structures.
Chamisa’s aversion to a structured party has caught up with him; human societies thrive on organizational frameworks,” remarked Mutsvangwa.
Opposition politician Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala wasted no time in declaring that the people’s struggle continues unabated, just moments after his release from prison yesterday, where he spent an arduous 600 days behind bars.
Sikhala, known for his versatility in politics, alongside Hon Godfrey Karakadzai Sithole, faced conviction for inciting public violence in Nyatsime following the brutal murder of Citizens Coalition for Change activist Moreblessing Ali.
Sikhala’s two-year sentence was wholly suspended, marking a significant turn of events.
Addressing the media immediately after regaining his freedom, Sikhala shared his sentiments on the circumstances surrounding his release:
“These people released me in the thick of the night, receiving instructions from their bosses. I am inspired to continue fighting for change; there is no turning back on the people’s struggle.”
Acknowledging the internal discord within the Citizens Coalition for Change, Sikhala expressed the need for reflection:
“I need time to sit down and reflect on what has been going on. The struggle is not about positions; what we need is a constructive way forward.
I shall address the nation on the way forward.”
Sikhala’s swift response and commitment to the ongoing fight for change indicate a resilient spirit.
As he emerges from incarceration, his focus on the broader goals of the people’s struggle, coupled with a call for a constructive path forward, emphasizes the importance of unity and purpose within the opposition movement.
The nation now eagerly awaits Sikhala’s forthcoming address, anticipating insights into the strategy and direction the opposition will take in the aftermath of recent developments.
The dynamics within the Citizens Coalition for Change and the broader political landscape of Zimbabwe remain in flux, with the actions and statements of key figures like Sikhala shaping the trajectory of the nation’s political future.
In a desperate bid to address the economic challenges facing Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, leader of the Zanu PF, recently sought assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Mnangagwa engaged in a meeting with FAO Director-General QU Dongyu in Rome on Tuesday, sparking speculation about the extent of Zimbabwe’s reliance on international aid.
The meeting between Mnangagwa and Dongyu raises questions about the President’s desperation to regain international recognition and support for his government.
Political analysts are quick to interpret this move as a strategic attempt by Mnangagwa to alleviate the economic pressures facing his nation and secure foreign assistance.
In a statement following the meeting, Mnangagwa expressed gratitude for the discussions held with FAO’s Director-General.
He outlined the key areas of focus, stating, “Today I had a productive meeting with FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, at their headquarters in Rome.
We discussed collaborative efforts to enhance agriculture, food security, and sustainable development in Zimbabwe.”
The emphasis on collaboration indicates the president’s willingness to work alongside international organizations to address critical issues such as agriculture, food security, and sustainable development within the country.
Mnangagwa’s acknowledgement of FAO’s continued support suggests that Zimbabwe is actively seeking partnerships to bolster its struggling economy.
Political analysts are divided in their interpretation of this development.
Some argue that Mnangagwa’s approach reflects a pragmatic effort to tap into international expertise and resources, essential for revitalizing Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector.
Others view it as a desperate plea for assistance, indicative of the country’s precarious economic situation.
Zimbabwe has faced prolonged economic challenges, including hyperinflation, unemployment, and food shortages. Mnangagwa’s engagement with FAO raises broader questions about the efficacy of international aid in addressing systemic issues within the nation.
As Zimbabwe navigates this delicate phase, the international community watches closely to discern whether Mnangagwa’s appeal for assistance will result in tangible improvements.
The outcome of these collaborative efforts could have significant implications not only for Zimbabwe’s economic recovery but also for the broader discourse surrounding the effectiveness of international aid in fostering sustainable development.
