Mining Investment Advice

1 treat mining like business

In business you invest with the aim of making profit long term and sustainable. Inorder to do that just make a small informal business by listing what you need with exact value don’t forget to include monitoring expenses identify a claim close to you or never invest . If you are still tempted to invest far increase scope of investment so that all you will be able to all final production activities month end .
2 nothing can replace your presence
Gold is a currency that can be used without any purification or processing and around Zimbabwe you find gold nuggets of 5points upto 10kg your absence means you won’t be able to see it or account for production done using your own money. Be there from day one study everything learn all risks and rewards.

Your kids , wife and relatives are not you they can steal from you infact most gold related theft or lack of accountability is orchestrated by related especially the son or daughter in most cases l have come across.

Besides stealing they usually unknowingly disturb or sabotage production in the name of relative. All gold production ends are guarded by mine owner , sponsors or investors and workers nothing is left to chance.

3 avoid overspending on monitoring
Avoid driving up and down to the mine in the name of monitoring because it’s useless and unnecessary unless you spend atleast 6hrs of day time at the mine use public transport and avoid hiring transport for transactions that don’t need a car .

If you want to use a car increase your investment scope to accommodate the car .when ever gold pays you handsomely remember they are dark days ahead plan wisely and create proper backup.

Government Throws Women’s Rights Out Of Window

Violence against women in politics marks ‘moral and ethical failure’- Petronellah Kwanisai

By A Correspondent

Despite a women’s quota system, men continue to dominate Zimbabwean politics.

Many women who fight for political participation suffer harassment and even violence, with no apparent consequences for abusers.

This constitutional requirement had been set to expire this year but was brought back through an amendment. Other sections of the constitution require political parties to put in place mechanisms for women to run for constituency-based seats.

Nevertheless, we have noted that there has been a lack of political will to bring more women into governance.

Zimbabwean women who want to participate in political decision-making face more than just ill will from their peers and political parties.

Despite dominating the voter population, women have been reduced to mostly cheerleaders in Zimbabwe’s political landscape. The large increase in candidate nomination fees impacted all but the wealthy from being able to run for National Assembly seats.

Women who run for office in Zimbabwe face a variety of persistent challenges. The most significant of these are discrimination and all forms of harassment. Women involved with politics faced threats from political opponents, members of their own parties, religious leaders and members of their community at large.

We are rising, but we are not there yet. So I encourage more and more young women to go for elective positions because we can, yes, we can, ” Petronellah Kwanisai, programs director with Girl Child Empowerment of Zimbabwe said.

The Zimbabwean constitution and other legal frameworks contain commitments to
ensure gender equality and provides for temporary measures to promote
participation of women.

According to Tatenda Maposa, a human rights defender, “These measures are not fully enabled in
subordinate legislation, and no sanctions are in place for non-compliance. As a
result, participation of women was lower than in previous elections, as political
parties generally failed to ensure gender balance among their nominated
candidates for directly elected seats, relying solely on seats reserved exclusively for women to give any inclusion for women. “

Council Shuts Down Shopping Centre

Gweru City Council has taken decisive action by closing down the iconic HAJEE Ismail Bahadur Centre, a prominent shopping complex in Gweru, Zimbabwe, renowned as Bahadur Centre. This closure comes as a result of the shopping center’s failure to settle operational fees amounting to millions of dollars.

Bahadur Centre is among the 187 businesses facing closure by the Gweru City Council due to outstanding water bills and other service charges. On Tuesday, the council initiated an operation to shut down businesses indebted to them, and a total of 40 shops within Bahadur Centre were affected by this drastic measure.

Bahadur Centre’s debt to the council has spiraled to an astonishing $60 million. Situated along Emmerson Mnangagwa Way (formerly known as First Street) in Gweru’s central business district, this bustling shopping complex is a hub for various businesses, including beauty salons, electrical shops, and clothing stores, making it one of the city’s busiest and most popular destinations.

The closure led to pandemonium within the center as council workers armed with chains and locks sealed off the shops. Some tenants were left stranded, while others attempted to continue their businesses outdoors.

In response to this sudden development, some tenants approached the real estate company responsible for managing the building, seeking guidance. According to one dealer, they were assured that the shops would be reopened soon, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty.

A cellphone shop operator commented on the situation, expressing surprise at being labeled in arrears despite consistently paying their bills through the estate agent. The closure has undoubtedly resulted in significant losses for many shop owners.

Gweru City Council’s public relations officer, Ms. Vimbai Chingwaramusee, explained that numerous businesses had been compelled to shut down due to their failure to settle rates, water bills, and other charges. She emphasized the importance of regular bill payments to prevent such inconveniences and encouraged businesses to meet their financial obligations promptly.

This closure of Bahadur Centre serves as a stark reminder to businesses of the consequences of unpaid fees, shedding light on the city’s ongoing efforts to enforce financial responsibility among its commercial establishments.

Bring Back CALA?

In a significant development, Zimbabwe’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Torerayi Moyo, announced yesterday that the future of Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) will be unveiled by the end of this month. This revelation comes following recent public hearings seeking input on the CALA system, which represents a shift away from traditional knowledge-based final examinations towards competency-based evaluation.

CALA requires students in Grade Seven, O-Level, and A-Level to engage in school projects and tasks, constituting 30 percent of their final examination coursework under the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) for each subject.

In May, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education initiated consultations with stakeholders to gather feedback on CALA. These hearings, which took place on May 23 and 24, utilized every school as a consultation center.

The public consultations yielded a spectrum of opinions, with some parents and guardians advocating for CALA’s continuation, while others voiced concerns about affordability, especially for learners from low-income families.

Addressing an audience of pupils, teachers, and stakeholders at the 3rd National Annual Science, Sport, and Arts Festival (NASSAF) at Chaplin High School in Gweru, Minister Moyo stressed the importance of public input on the CALA issue. He thanked parents, pupils, stakeholders, and educational partners who participated in the consultative meetings to shape the curriculum in alignment with national development needs.

Minister Moyo revealed that a team of consultants has been engaged to analyze and synthesize the collected data, ultimately influencing the decision on the curriculum for the next seven years. He emphasized that the fate of CALA hinges on the evidence gathered from this process, with the official report set for public release at the end of the month.

Regarding NASSAF, Minister Moyo explained that the event aligns with a 21st-century education approach, emphasizing creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. NASSAF serves as a platform for learners to showcase their skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes across various disciplines, from technical graphics to contemporary dance and ICT.

Minister Moyo commended the innovations displayed by learners, highlighting the importance of a whole-of-government approach in nurturing talents and promoting economic development, particularly in the arts and sciences. The event not only highlights academic achievements but also fosters qualities like discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship through sports participation.

In conclusion, Minister Moyo emphasized the nation’s commitment to producing enterprising youth capable of translating their learning into innovative products and services, creating income opportunities, and contributing to employment generation.

The awaited report on CALA, set to be revealed by month-end, will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for Zimbabwe’s education system.

Woman Gangs Up With Hubby To Kill Own Baby

– Domestic Worker and Husband Accused of Conspiring to Murder 11-Month-Old Child in Plumtree

In a deeply unsettling case that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 24-year-old domestic worker, Leaflet Ndlovu, hailing from Mbamba Village under Chief Gampu in Tsholotsho, Matabeleland North province, stands accused of collaborating with her new husband, Trust Mitsi, to allegedly murder her 11-month-old child from a previous relationship. The incident has left the town of Kandana Village in Plumtree in disbelief.

Reports suggest that Leaflet Ndlovu and Trust Mitsi were driven by their desire to solidify their union as husband and wife, leading them to conspire to end the life of Ndlovu’s infant daughter from a prior relationship.

The shocking events unfolded on the night of September 8th, around 10 p.m., when Leaflet is believed to have conspired with her boyfriend, Mitsi, who is currently evading authorities, to strangle her 11-month-old child. Disturbingly, the child survived this sinister plot.

To cover up their failed attempt, the following day, Leaflet reached out to Givemore Ndlovu, her employer’s younger brother, and informed him that the child was unwell. Concerned, Givemore arrived to check on the baby and discovered her in agonizing pain, with a swollen left leg.

In a bid to seek help, Givemore took Leaflet and the baby to Bakisani Gambule’s residence, seeking assistance from Hleziphi Ncube, a community health worker. Suspecting foul play and discounting dehydration as the issue, Ncube advised them to take the child to the hospital. Tragically, on their way back, the child succumbed to her injuries.

Givemore reported the matter to the police, who promptly launched an investigation. A post-mortem conducted at Plumtree District Hospital mortuary revealed that the child’s death was a result of impaired breathing and strangulation, implicating the grim intentions of those involved.

Following the post-mortem results, Leaflet Ndlovu was arrested and brought before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware, where she faced a murder charge. She was remanded in custody until October 2nd, with the magistrate advising her to apply for bail at the High Court.

Arnold Mudekunye represented the State in the proceedings, as the community grapples with the harrowing details of this shocking case. The whereabouts of Trust Mitsi, the alleged co-conspirator, remain unknown, and authorities are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend him as the investigation continues.- state media

Dzvukamanja Goal Buries Mighty Kaizer Chiefs

A section of angry Kaizer Chiefs fans had to be refrained by police details as they attempted to confront the club’s leadership demanding the sacking of head coach Molefi Ntseki, after the defeat to SuperSport United last night.

Amakhosi fans were hoping the Glamour Boys would return to winning ways after Saturday’s goalless draw with Royal AM, but before some of them had settled in the stands at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Terrence Dzvukamanja fired SuperSport ahead with just 80 seconds on the clock.

The Zimbabwean striker brilliantly connected to a Bradley Grobbler cross from the left, giving veteran Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, no chance.

That early goal secured three points for Matsatsantsa, to the ire of a section of Chiefs fans.

Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung had to intervene and tried to calm the fans down.

The disgruntled fans could be heard saying “he must go!” referring to Nketsi, who took over from Authur Zwane ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

The former Bafana Bafana coach has managed three wins in the nine matches he had overseen in the Amakhosi dugout.-Soccer24 News

Lecturer Arrested Over Drug Crime Allegations

at Mutare Polytechnic Arrested for Alleged Drug Supply Operation.

In a significant development this week, a lecturer employed at Mutare Polytechnic was apprehended in Dangamvura, Mutare, in connection with an alleged drug supply operation. The arrest not only led to the detention of the accused but also the seizure of over 200 bottles of Broncleer syrup with an estimated value of US$1,442.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo, confirmed the arrest of Nancy Tanyaradzwa Nyanzunda, aged 51, hailing from Gimboki 2, and her alleged accomplice, Prosper Munamwe, residing in the same neighborhood.

According to authorities, the duo stands accused of violating Section 29 of the Medicines and Allied Substances Act, Chapter 15:03.

The sequence of events began on September 18 when the Dangamvura Police Station’s intelligence detectives received a tip-off regarding Munamwe’s alleged sale of illegal syrup from his residence. Simultaneously, reports surfaced indicating that Nyanzunda was the supplier of the contraband Broncleer syrup.

In response to this information, law enforcement officials swiftly conducted a raid at Munamwe’s residence, recovering a quantity of the illicit substances. Subsequently, another search warrant was executed at Nyanzunda’s residence, where additional boxes of Broncleer syrup were uncovered.

Inspector Muzondo provided further details, stating, “On September 18, Nyanzunda and Munamwe were arrested at their respective places of residence for allegedly selling unregistered medicines. The two had over 200 x 100ml bottles of Broncleer syrup.”

Intriguingly, prior to the police searches, Munamwe voluntarily disclosed the presence of 56 x 100ml bottles of Broncleer in his wardrobe. Meanwhile, at Nyanzunda’s residence, a meticulous search yielded three boxes concealed behind her cottage, containing a total of 150 x 100ml bottles of Broncleer.

During subsequent interrogations, Nyanzunda purportedly revealed that she had received the drugs as a parcel from South Africa and had enlisted Munamwe to handle their sale on her behalf.

Both accused individuals were promptly escorted to ZRP Dangamvura Police Station, where a case pertaining to the sale or possession of unregistered medicines was officially lodged.

This arrest and the subsequent recovery of a substantial quantity of Broncleer syrup underscore the concerted efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating the illegal drug trade. As the investigation unfolds, the legal implications and consequences for the accused remain uncertain, and further developments in this case are eagerly anticipated.

Your Majesties; Excellencies, Heads of State and Government;

Distinguished Delegates.

We value the role he played to promote science in ouroverarching goal to improve the lives and livelihoods of all.

Mr. President;
It is imperative that we re-commit to the Charter of theUnited Nations, multilateralism, solidarity, justice and the peaceful settlement of disputes for sustainable development and a shared future. This calls on us all to respect the sovereign equality of nations, big or small, poor or rich.

By working together, we can harness our expertise andlearn from one another to strengthen international institutions for the accelerated attainment of Agenda 2030. The impact of conflicts, terrorism, climate changeinduced natural disasters, biodiversity loss, and the risingprevalence of disease and pandemics, especially in the developing world, deserve our urgent attention.

Regrettably, progress towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals has been uneven, while global solidarity has been tested and self-interest superseding cooperation. We have a duty to reignite our commitment to the principles of the 2030 Agenda andrekindle the spirit of multilateralism.

To accelerate action on the SDGs, we must scale up investments in people and communities by ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, clean water, and sanitation for all. The creation of economic opportunities, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, especially amongwomen and the youth, must remain a priority.

Excellencies;
Zimbabwe continues to entrench democracy, constitutionalism, good governance and the rule of law, following the recently held 2023 Harmonised General Elections.
I am pleased to highlight that our country enjoyed peace, before, during and after our free, fair, transparent and credible elections.

Zimbabwe has been under the illegal, unilateral economic sanctions for 23 years, imposed by some Western countries. These sanctions were designed to subjugate the sovereign will of the Zimbabwean people. We, therefore, demand that the unjustified unilateral sanctions be unconditionally lifted, including those imposed on countries like Cuba. We remain grateful for the supportand solidarity of progressive countries in the comity of nations.

In spite of these debilitating sanctions the people of Zimbabwe have become masters of their own destiny. This is anchored on a philosophy that as a people, we have the duty and responsibility of developing our country, using our own domestic resources.
Partners and investors are welcome, guided by our own vision and national priority areas.

We are recording unprecedented development and economic success milestones. For the last three years, our country has been the fastest growing economy in our Southern African region. Further, Zimbabwe is prioritizing the eradication of poverty and improving the quality of life of our people, particularly, those in rural areas. The empowerment and capacitation of communal and small-scale farmers has seen us realise food and nutrition security at both household and national level.

Zanu PF Targets New CCC Harare Councilors

By- Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution secretary Tafadzwa Muguti, said they will fire any councillor who fails to perform.

Muguti, who was appointed by Zanu PF government to dilute the powers of the CCC-run Harare council, said he would not appoint an acting mayor in failed councils but replace them with commissions.

In remarks aimed at the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)-dominated urban councils,
He made the threats while superintending over mayoral elections at the Chitungwiza Municipality on Monday this week.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has accused opposition councillors of running down councils. The Zanu PF government has in the past been in the habit of expelling mayors and deputy mayors in opposition-run urban councils.
Appointment of commissions to run council business was commonplace during the late former President Robert Mugabe’s reign when he used former Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo to do the hatchet job.
For instance, the City of Harare had no elected mayor for more than two years after MDC mayor Elias Mudzuri was fired in April 2004. Chombo’s predecessors replaced suspended mayors with acting mayors.
Muguti said: “To the incoming 27 members, I do not want any surprises or nonsense in council chambers. I don’t want to hear fights in council chambers, Zanu PF versus CCC. You have that bad reputation, Chitungwiza.”
He warned the councillors against neglecting service provision.
“If you repeat what you did last year, I don’t want to lie to you. This time around, there will be no acting. I will put a commission in place. I have warned you.
“I don’t want to hear fights. You have been elected and there is nothing to fight about. Work together as Zimbabweans. You can debate or argue, but when you walk out that door, you have a decision that benefits Chitungwiza,” he said.
Muguti also warned councillors against engaging in corrupt activities.
“There is a policy you had last year where you gave each other graves. Stop It. Free graves are outlined in the office of the Minister of State through social welfare. We have been doing this since 1980.
“In all your wards, there are social welfare officers. We know the poor people in your area. What you were doing last year, councillors identifying poor people and deciding who to dish out graves to. You think I did not know that some of you were selling the graves for US$500,” he said.
Muguti said councils should make all their resolutions public.
“When you see us arresting you, it is because you would not have been transparent with my office. The chamber secretary is there to guide you when you have your meetings. Don’t override him because he is your lawyer. If he tells you, ‘the law says don’t do this,’ don’t do it. This is coming with a very stern warning.
“We don’t do workshops for the ease of generating allowances. We do them to enhance each other’s capacity. So you would rather do one workshop for three days than a scenario where today you are in Kariba and tomorrow you are in Masvingo,” he said.
Accusing some councils of accumulating as much as 500 litres as fuel allowance, he declared: “All that is nonsense. We will not tolerate that because that’s abuse of office.”
Chitungwiza and Manyame Rural Residents Association director Marvelous Micheal Kumalo said commissions were not good for accountability and transparency purposes.
“The Constitution of Zimbabwe is clear that elected officials are accountable to the electorate and it also says local authorities are run by councillors directly elected by the electorate. That is why the practice and habit of hiring mayors from non-elected councillors was abolished,” he said.
“It is all meant to promote that elected leaders account to the electorate not otherwise. So my point is, an appointed commissioner will be accountable to the appointing authority and not to the electorate.”
He said residents associations were opposed to decisions made without residents’ input.
“We do not want partisan politics to be pursued in the name of administration and supervision of our local authorities, mainly those run by the opposition movement,” he added.
However, Zimbabwe National Organisation of Associations and Residents Trust chairperson Shepherd Chikomba said he was in support of Muguti’s stance.
“We will support the establishment of commissions if these councillors fail again because we cannot just sit down seeing mistakes that were done the past 10 years. We are giving them another chance,” he said.
“We are worried that we are not going anywhere in terms of development. Councillors take being elected as a way to fatten their pockets.” Newsday

Masarira tears into CCC leader

The leader of Labour Economists and African Democrats (LEAD), Linda Masarira said that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa should desist from giving Zimbabweans false hope.

Masarira said Chamisa has the potential to become “a very good pastor” and that politics is not his true calling.

The controversial opposition activist was responding to posts on the social media site X by Chamisa laced with Bible verses and the hashtag #GodIsInIt.

In one of the posts, Chamisa said God “will surely visit Zimbabwe” and “will show Himself mighty and strong.” He wrote:

Fellow Citizens; Trust this #Godisinit I believe in. Let them not mock you. He has never let me down before. He will surely visit Zimbabwe. He will show Himself mighty and strong.

You will love it. He is always on time. Ignore these manly and sham sideshows. Don’t say I didn’t tell you! Be happy Zimbabwe! Isaiah 33:22 #OnePeople.

Responding to the post, Masarira said Chamisa has missed his true calling, which is not being a politician, but a pastor. She said:

Is this not too much my brother? People are waiting for leadership from you. You continue feeding them with false hope.

One day, this God you always hashtag will answer you, I presume. In the meantime, give those who voted for your confidence, not verses.

If you have failed, consider opening a church. I think you would make a very good pastor. You are a true shepherd. Sometimes, we misinterpret God’s word.

With your stance, I am 100% convinced you were called to preach the word of God not to be a political leader. May the good Lord open your eyes and redirect you to your true calling.

Chamisa has lost the presidential race to Emmerson Mnangagwa twice. In 2018 Chamisa received 44.3% of the vote against Mnangagwa’s 50.8%. In 2023 Chamisa garnered 44% against Mnangagwa’s 52.6%.

In 2018, Chamisa challenged the election results but lost the case at the Constitutional Court. This year, he avoided taking the matter to court and has demanded a fresh election.

Mayor Coltart to forgo new mayoral limo. Yeah, the anesthetic bite of deadly bug.

By Wilbert Mukori| His Worship David Coltart, the newly elected CCC Mayor of the City of Bulawayo, has announced that he will not be buying a new mayoral car for the next 5 years!

“I came here using a car which has been used by the council for the past nine years, that car is enough for the whole of my term, I’m not going to get a new car for the next five years, unless we have enough ambulances,” said Coltart.

“How can we have new cars whilst we have only five ambulances instead of 30, we only have four fire engines and six refuse trucks and we need the minimum of 11. So, it starts with me and it needs to reflect in you.”

A grand gesture from the Mayor and this is not the first time that Coltart has done this. When he was appointed Minister of Education in the 2008 to 2013 GNU, he refused to take his allocated ministerial car. He accepted all the other benefits including the generous salary and allowances, the fuel allocation, globe trotting, etc.!

What is most notable about MDC leaders during the GNU is that they were all busy enjoying the trappings of high office they forgot about implementing the democratic reforms, the number one task entrusted to them during the GNU. Their greed was so obvious that Zanu PF cronies openly mocked the MDC leaders.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to quietly enjoy the gravy train good-life; they will never rock the boat!) Zanu PF boasted when they were asked why MDC was not implementing the democratic reforms.

True enough, MDC leaders did not rock the GNU boat: they failed to implement even one token reform in five years. Not even one token reform!

When SADC leaders realised the 2013 elections were going ahead with no reforms implemented; they advised MDC leader not to participate in the elections until reforms were implemented. The wise council fell on deaf ears. David Coltart was one of the MDC leaders who have since admitted of the sheer futility of participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and the failed state which is Zimbabwe today!

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

No doubt, Mayor Coltart must have tried to persuade his fellow MDC/CCC leaders on the the sheer insanity of participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. When he discovered there were no takers, for exactly the reasons the MDC leaders had ignored SADC leaders to implement the reforms during the GNU – greed and breath-taking incompetence – Coltart throw in the towel. He joined the rest of the opposition in participating in rigged elections out of greed.

Zimbabwe would have been transformed into a healthy and functioning democratic nation by 2013, at the latest, if MDC leaders had implemented the democratic reforms. We are still a failed state stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship because the regime has been rigging the elections thanks to MDC leaders’ betrayal on reforms.

Mayor Coltart and his CCC friends participated in these 2023 elections knowing fully well that doing so would give the election process “credibility” and thus give Zanu PF political legitimacy. (The SADC and AU election observers have since dismiss the election process as a sham and thus denying Zanu PF political legitimacy, regardless of the full house Zimbabwe opposition’s participation.)

Like it or not the city of Bulawayo will not buy the required 25 ambulances, fire engines, etc. from the money saved from buying a new mayoral car. What the city and the nation needs is an end to this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship but for that to happen we must implement the democratic reforms and end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. At the present moment the greatest impediment to implementing reforms is none other than the MDC/CCC leaders who have sold out on reforms out of greed.

How ironic that Mayor David Coltart is denied himself the mayoral car and is making a big song and dance about it. Meanwhile he and his fellow CCC leaders continue participating in these flawed elections to perpetuate the failed state and the tragic human suffering it has brought out of selfish greed!

Mayor Coltart and his CCC leaders are now nothing but the disease carrying fleas, the anaesthetic in their bite in not for the victim’s benefit but the bug’s – it will gorge itself unperturbed!

Russian firm “eyes” Tsholotsho

The Russian conglomerate and the world’s leading diamond producer, Alrosa Mining, have awarded a contract to Titan Drilling International for exploration operations focused on gold and diamonds in Tsholotsho District, Matabeleland North province.

If the exploration results reveal sufficient mineral reserves for commercial exploitation, this could potentially lead to significant economic growth in Tsholotsho District and a higher contribution to national development.

Tsholotsho’s economy is primarily based on subsistence farming, diaspora remittances, and wildlife tourism. The discovery of precious minerals has the potential to bring about a transformative impact on the district.

Preliminary exploration drilling activities are currently underway in the Mbalibali area under Chief Mahlathini. The contractor intends to submit samples for laboratory testing to determine the feasibility of business prospects.

Mr. Patrick Butau, speaking on behalf of Titan Drilling International, explained, “We are conducting exploratory work on behalf of our client, Alrosa Mining. Our role is to collect samples and submit them for testing, focusing on gold and diamonds.”

Mines and Mining Development Deputy Minister Polite Kambamura mentioned that the government was awaiting the investor’s quarterly report and emphasized that they couldn’t prematurely disclose the results of a publicly listed company.

Alrosa is a global group of diamond mining companies that specialize in various aspects of the diamond industry, including exploration, mining, manufacturing, and sales. The company began geological exploration in Zimbabwe in 2013 but relinquished its licenses in 2016. It resumed its operations under the Second Republic in response to President Mnangagwa’s political and economic reforms.

The company received special grants from the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) certificate, aligning with the government’s strategy for sustainable mining. These special grants are located in Masvingo, Matabeleland South, and Matabeleland North provinces.

In July of the current year, President Mnangagwa met with Alrosa executives during his visit to the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum. During this meeting, the company expressed satisfaction with the investment climate in Zimbabwe, as well as the “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” and engagement initiatives championed by President Mnangagwa.

PRESS RELEASE: Leaders commit to Mind the Gap – Invest in Water

: As the race to achieve SDG 6 in Africa accelerates

20 September 2023, New York| African leaders have pledged to mobilise US$30bn per year by 2030 to achieve water security and sustainable sanitation on the continent through institutional private-public partnerships, sector reform, and higher national budget allocations.

This is the key message from the launch of Mind the Gap – Invest in Water, a campaign championed by the African Union Commission and supported by the International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, as part of the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).

Mind the Gap – Invest in Water was launched on 19 September on the side-lines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly and 2023 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Summit in New York.

The 2023 SDG Summit takes place at the midpoint to 2030 SDG deadline, and includes in its Political Declaration a commitment to address water scarcity and stress. Approximately US$50 billion annually is required to achieve water security in Africa by 2030. Currently, US$10-US$19 billion is invested each year.

New sources of funding are urgently needed to accelerate implementation of the AIP to achieve water related SDGs on the continent. Mind the Gap – Invest in Water will raise awareness, influence change, and ultimately – prompt mobilisation of investments across continental institutions and organisations.

African countries are currently losing up to US$200 billion/year due to insufficient
investment, coupled with the impacts of climate change and inefficiencies. Over 300 million Africans do not have access to clean drinking water and over 700 million live without access to good sanitation. Without action, climate change will make water shortages worse and lead to more food insecurity, disease burden, human displacement, conflict.

Mind the Gap – Invest in Water will address systemic challenges, or gaps, that deter
investors including:

  1. Governance Gap: the need for robust national water policies, effective regulations, and strategies that are multi-sectoral, comprehensive, and gender transformative.
  2. Finance Gap: the need for credit worthy water utilities and service providers; return on investment; risk mitigation strategies and public-private investment modalities.
  3. Capacity: the need for improved implementation capacity and quality of a portfolio of bankable (and less bankable) projects through increased partnerships with regional and national finance institutions

African leaders show the “gap” during the campaign launch in the United Nations HQ. (Centre left) H.E. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal; (Second from left) H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, Former President of the United Republic of Tanzania; (Centre) H.E. Josefa Sacko, African Union Commissioner, ARBE; (Centre left) Harsen Nyambe, Director: Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment at the African Union; (Second from left) Nardos Bekele-Thomas, CEO of AUDA-NEPAD; (Right) Hon. Carl Schlettwein, Minister of Agriculture, Water, & Forestry, Namibia; (Left) Alex Simalabwi, Executive Director: High-Level Panel Secretariat. The campaign will speak to the nine potential sources of finance for water investment in Africa, which were outlined by the High-Level Panel’s Pyramid of
Water Transformation, which also shows the total estimated value of funding that is available; and the potential funding that could be mobilized or leveraged for Africa by
2030.

  1. Sector governance: Efficiency gains and cost savings
  2. Valuing water-related risks and internalising the environmental costs
  3. Institutional investors
  4. Pollution and mineral resource taxes
  5. African Government Budgets
  6. National banks, microfinance institutions, local governments
  7. Multilateral climate funds
  8. Multilateral and Development Finance Institutions
  9. Bilateral ODA and philanthropy
The High-Level Panel is a registered United Nations 2023 Water Action Agenda commitment (view the commitment here), and will mobilise resources to implement the water actions in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Quotes from the International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa

“The campaign we are launching here is the starting point of a race against time. The next step is the finalization of the AIP Water Investment Action Plan, in order to launch it on the sidelines of COP 28 in Dubai. It will then be a matter of implementing it for a first evaluation at the 2026 Water and Sanitation Conference, before the SDG deadline in 2030. The emergency is clear.

The needs are known and the roadmap drawn up. Let us act without delay to meet the challenge.” – H.E. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal.

“We have reached a stage where the AU Commission, in collaboration with the international High-Level Panel on Water, is embarking on the Water Investment Action Plan for increased investment in the water sector by the AU Member States.

The Mind the Gap campaign will contribute immensely towards mobilising these investments, which are critical for resilient water security and sustainable sanitation in Africa. This move aligns with the outcome of the Africa Climate Summit held recently in Kenya in early September 2023.” – H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson, African Union Commission (AUC).

“We are midway to our Sustainable Development Goals 2030 deadline and it is now clear that without accelerated and urgent action, coupled with high-level political guidance, we will not achieve the SDGs. In Africa, progress on SDG 6 – clean water and sanitation for all – is far too slow. Without SDG 6, Africa cannot achieve its developmental goals on health, food security, economic growth, climate action, and many others. We are offered an opportunity to change course and reconsider the way we are think about investing in water and sanitation.” – H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of United Republic of Tanzania (Alternate Co-Chair).

Charumbira, Chadzamira Factional Fight Spilts Masvingo Zanu PF Structures

By-The fight between Chief Fortune Charumbira and Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister Ezra Chadzamira is threatening to divide the Zanu PF party structure in Masvingo province

The two are embroiled in a fierce factional fight over undisclosed internal issues.

Charumbira, who is battling to remain the Pan African Parliament (PAP) president, said he will ensure that Chadzamira will not retain the Masvingo West Constituency seat come 2028.

The traditional leader has been accused of corruption by one of the vice presidents at PAP, among other allegations.

Addressing his subjects in Ward 12 recently, Charumbira said they should start looking for another candidate to represent ZANU PF in Masvingo West Constituency in 2028. He said:

I know the issue about the MP (Chadzamira) that you are not happy about.

He has too many issues which I’m sure you don’t know but I know them and I am going to expose him in the not so distant future.

Of all the MPS who have been here like the late Mudhenge (Stan) and Mavhaire (Dzikamai), they never addressed meetings in my absence but this one (Chadzamira) did that and you never bothered to ask him why?

You should have asked him why he was addressing his rallies in my absence.

He (Chadzamira) fought me and I’m going to fight back – that’s who I am. I am a hard nut to crack; I want to finish him – let us plan and find someone among our people to replace Chadzamira.

Don’t tell me that we cannot find one of our own here in Wards 12, 11 or 9. If you fail to get one then I will put an advert in the press saying we are looking for someone willing to become our MP because we do not have one,

Even the President knows this; I told him that I don’t get along with him (Chadzamira) because of the way he does his things.

It is alleged that ZANU PF lost Wards 11 and 12 because Charumbira campaigned against Chadzamira.

However, during his address, Charumbira blamed Chadzamira for the loss saying people voted for CCC because they did not want the MP.

Contacted for comment by TellZim News, Chadzamira said that he respects traditional leaders and it was their right to have different views. He said:

I want to that the people of Masvingo for voting peacefully and now that election time is over, we have to work together for development and to achieve the President’s vision 2030.

I respect traditional leaders very much and it is their right to have different opinions and views but what is important is for people to unite and work together.

I encourage everyone to put hands on the deck to work for development whilst respecting traditional leaders and their views.

“I can forgo mayoral vehicle”: Coltart

The City of Bulawayo Mayor Councillor David Coltart said he will forgo getting a new mayoral vehicle during his term of office and prioritise service delivery.

Speaking at an engagement meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on Tuesday, Coltart also revealed that the local authority is operating with only five ambulances and needs a fleet of thirty to fully service the city.

He said the City of Bulawayo has an acute shortage of ambulances, fire engines, and refuse collection trucks.

CITE quoted Coltart as saying:

There is a car at the city council, it has been there for the past nine years. It will be enough for my five-year term.

I’m not going to buy a new mayoral vehicle unless this one breaks down or unless we get a full complement of our ambulances.

How can we have only five ambulances when we need thirty and still prioritize mayoral vehicles, that is absolute nonsense.

Over the past two decades, service delivery in local authorities has sharply deteriorated and urban dwellers have mostly been affected as water supplies and refuse collection have become irregular, exposing residents to medieval diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

Councillors, especially in urban councils, have been accused of abusing resources for personal benefit instead of prioritising service delivery.

Corpse Stuck Outside House for 9 Days

Bizarre and Disturbing Events Surround Murder Case Unfold in Zhombe East.

Zhombe East, September 19, 2023 – In a chilling turn of events, the murder case of Munyaradzi Dube (31), allegedly killed for ritual purposes, has taken a truly eerie twist. Dube’s remains, which spent nine days abandoned outside a house at the Muchechetere homestead in Zhombe East, are now reportedly causing quite a sensation at the Kwekwe District Hospital mortuary.

Munyaradzi Dube, an artisanal miner from Gokwe, met a gruesome fate at Zhombe Business Centre, under Chief Samambwa in Zhombe East. His body, found with a missing tongue, a left eye, and some hair from the back of his head, had been dumped in a disused mine shaft after his alleged murder.

What makes this case particularly unsettling is the claim that Munyaradzi Dube’s remains are now “making funny noises” and “refusing to be buried.” Some reports even suggest that the deceased is “demanding” the return of his missing body parts.

Efforts to lay him to rest in his homestead in Vhurumu village, under Chief Njelele in Gokwe South, have been thwarted, as the Muchechetere and Dube families have yet to reconcile.

Chief Njelele received a call from the police, urging him to mediate between the two families and address this perplexing situation. He mentioned reports of mysterious sounds emanating from Munyaradzi’s remains at the Kwekwe District Hospital mortuary.

Munyaradzi’s uncle, Mr. David Dube, detailed the events leading up to his nephew’s alleged ritual killing. According to Mr. Dube, the deceased was an artisanal miner murdered three weeks ago in Zhombe by two alleged miners from the same area.

After Munyaradzi’s murder, a bizarre sequence of events unfolded, including his friend allegedly going into a trance and behaving as if he were Munyaradzi himself. He forbade the family from burying the remains without his missing body parts.

In an attempt to perform certain rituals, Munyaradzi’s friend demanded that a live animal be tied and placed in water in a disused mine shaft. However, this ritual was not completed due to the reluctance of the Muchechetere family, leading to the family abandoning Munyaradzi’s body at their homestead.

Shockingly, a voice was heard coming from the coffin, claiming that Munyaradzi’s remains had been dismembered and parts were scattered in various locations, including a nightclub, a butchery, a mining claim, and a grinding mill at Zhombe Business Centre. The voice suggested that once water from the mine shaft was collected and sprinkled at these locations, the culprits behind the murder would confess.

Tensions are high as the Muchechetere family denies involvement and expresses willingness to engage with Munyaradzi’s family to resolve the matter. Community members and authorities, including Chief Samambwa, are still grappling with the perplexing and unsettling circumstances surrounding this murder case.

The police have confirmed the incident and are conducting investigations into this disturbing and mysterious case.

Trial of Mnangagwa Challenger Commences with Damaging Testimony

Harare, September 19, 2023 – The trial of political activist Sybeth Musengezi commenced yesterday, and the proceedings have already taken a dramatic turn. State witness Godwills Masimirembwa, the chairman of Zanu PF for Harare Province, made startling claims against the accused.

Masimirembwa, a key figure in the ruling party, asserted that Musengezi had provided a false address during his application for Zanu PF membership. He further alleged that Musengezi had not paid his membership subscription since 2019. The State argues that this matter is of utmost concern to State security, given Musengezi’s previous challenges to the legitimacy of the President.

According to the allegations, in 2012, Musengezi, in collaboration with Allen Chisuko and Taurai Mutimbanyoka, allegedly misrepresented his residence as No. 4315 Hatcliffe Extension, Harare, in order to join Zanu PF as a member of Muzinda 1A District. Subsequently, he was registered as a member. In 2019, Musengezi is accused of conspiring with Mutimbanyoka to falsely claim he was within the cells of Zanu PF’s Mai Chitepo Branch, Muzinda 1 District.

The court heard that these actions allowed Musengezi to become eligible for elections to a Zanu PF branch position, a privilege reserved only for bona fide party members in the cell structures. He was eventually elected as the Zanu PF Mai Chitepo branch Muzinda H District Youth Wing vice-chairperson.

Musengezi now faces allegations of tarnishing the ruling party’s reputation and undermining its administration. He is also accused of participating in Zanu PF elections and programs for which he was not eligible due to his questionable party membership.

As this trial unfolds, it is expected to draw significant attention due to its implications for both Musengezi and the political landscape in Zimbabwe. The courtroom drama is set to continue as more witnesses testify in the coming days.- State Media

Zanu PF Threatens To Fire Chamisa Harare Councilors

By- Zanu PF senior official and Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution secretary Tafadzwa Muguti, said they will fire any councillor who fails to perform.

He said the government would not appoint an acting mayor in failed councils but replace them with commissions.

Mnangagwa Aides In Fierce Fight

By-Chief Fortune Charumbira and Masvingo Provincial Minister Ezra Chadzamira are embroiled in a fierce factional fight.

Charumbira, battling to remain the Pan African Parliament (PAP) president, said he will ensure that Chadzamira will not retain the Masvingo West Constituency seat come 2028.

He has too many issues which I’m sure you don’t know but I know them and I am going to expose him in the not-so-distant future.

Chamisa Aide Rejects Mayoral Car

By- THe newly elected Bulawayo Mayor Councillor David Coltart has refused a mayoral vehicle he would get during his term of office.

The former Primary Education minister said he would prioritize service delivery.

Councillors, especially in urban councils, have been accused of abusing resources for personal benefit instead of prioritizing service delivery.

Ramaphosa Covers Mnangagwa’s Back

By-The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, continues to defend President Emmerson Mnangagwa despite gross human rights violations and electoral fraud the Harare continues to commit on its citizens.

Ramaphosa, Tuesday at the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States, said the West should lift sanctions on Zimbabwe and Cuba.
“South Africa continues to call for the lifting of the economic embargo that was imposed 60 years ago against Cuba,” he said.
“An embargo that has caused untold damage to the country’s economy and the people of Cuba as well.
“The sanctions that are also being applied against South Africa’s neighbour, Zimbabwe, should also be lifted as they are imposing untold suffering on ordinary Zimbabweans, but also have a collateral negative impact on neighbouring countries as well such as my own country, South Africa.”
President Ramaphosa and many African presidents have been consistently calling for the removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West.
The European Union, Britain, Canada and other countries also imposed sanctions against Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa arrived in New York yesterday is expected to address the UNGA tomorrow.
The 78th UNGA is running under the theme, “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.”

Government Tramples On Women’s Rights

Meticulous Processes Of Mining

Treat Mining Like Real Business

Breaking News: ZANU PF’s Passion Java Goes Underground Following Heated LIVE Interview

By A Correspondent | In a twist of events, ZANU PF member Passion Java has mysteriously gone underground following a live interview that briefly touched upon the Al Jazeera Investigative Unit’s GomdMafia documentary. The interview, hosted by Simba Chikanza on ZimEye news network, took an unexpected turn when Java began discussing the controversies surrounding skin marks on his left hand, which had been a topic of speculation.

During the interview, Passion Java, known for his flamboyant lifestyle, started boasting about his wealth and even pledged to donate USD10,000 to the first 10 subscribers. However, his demeanor changed dramatically when the discussion shifted towards the Al Jazeera documentary.

Java expressed his anger and questioned why the documentary was made, suggesting that it could deter potential investors. He launched a verbal attack on Al Jazeera, expressing his disapproval. It was at this point that Simba Chikanza intervened to clarify that the investigation was not initiated by Al Jazeera but had its origins in 1993 in Kenya. The investigation exposed Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Dubai-based business partner, Kamlesh Pattni, whose actions had a detrimental impact on Kenya’s economy, taking decades to recover.

Chikanza further revealed that the investigation had exposed similar wrongdoings affecting the economies of several African countries, emphasizing that it was not driven by political motives or other interests.

However, the turning point came when Passion Java’s video abruptly cut off during this discussion. He has since disappeared from public view, failing to post anything on his social media platforms, and notably, he did not fulfill his promise of donating USD10,000 during his scheduled Tuesday ZimEye program. The abrupt vanishing act has left many speculating about the motives behind his sudden disappearance.

As questions swirl regarding Passion Java’s whereabouts and intentions, the public awaits further developments in this mysterious and unexpected turn of events.

EU Cuts ZEC Funding After Running A Shambolic Election

The European Union is cutting its US$5 million aid support to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in response to its handling of the August elections.

EU’s withdrawal of support points to an even tougher time for Zimbabwe in its already difficult talks to reach a debt restructuring deal with Western creditors. The Zimbabwe government was looking to EU for support in its quest for a deal on its US$18 billion foreign debt. By withdrawing aid, the EU is signaling a hardening of sentiment among creditor nations, which had set a credible election as a key step towards any debt deal.

The EU announced last November that it was giving US$5 million to ZEC to “enhance the institutional and technical capacity”. Just over US$1 million of the package had been used by ZEC. The aid was a sign of a further thawing in relations between Zimbabwe and the EU, which has peeled back its sanctions on the country over the past 20 years and been allowed in to observe elections.

But the EU on Tuesday said criticism by observers of ZEC’s management of the August elections has put its support under scrutiny.

“The recent preliminary statements from multiple EOMs, including the EU EOM, have raised concerns about ZEC’s management of the electoral process, particularly regarding its independence and transparency,” the EU mission in Zimbabwe said in a statement.

“The EU contributes together with other donors to a UNDP-managed project aiming at enhancing ZEC’s institutional and technical capabilities to fulfil its constitutional mandate. In response to these concerns and in adherence to responsible management of EU development cooperation funds, the EU has initiated a procedure to suspend its contribution to this project.”

The EU went on: “The EU firmly underscores the critical importance of electoral management bodies serving as independent and transparent institutions in fulfilling their mandates to deliver credible and inclusive electoral processes that enjoy the trust of citizens. The EU remains open to the possibility of resuming its contribution to support efforts aiming at strengthening the electoral processes and bring such processes closer to the regional and international standards that Zimbabwe has signed.”

The EU observed the election for the second time since it was banned from observing elections in Zimbabwe in 2002. The election, marked by reports of intimidation and ZEC’s delays in delivering ballots to some polling stations, was criticised by many observers, inclusing those from the EU.

In his report, EU Chief Observer Castaldo said: “Ultimately the elections fell short of many regional and international standards, including key principles of equality, universality, transparency and accountability.” The EU observers also complained that they had only limited access to ZEC officials.

A raid on ZESN, the largest observer group whose programmes are also partly funded by EU, also angered EU. ZESN was stopped from running a parallel voter tabulation exercise, which they had been encouraged to do by ZEC chair Priscilla Chiguma. In 2018, ZESN’s sample based survey of results fell in line with ZEC’s own tally.

The 2023 election was most notably criticised by the SADC mission, which said aspects of the poll had fallen short of regional standards.

Ahead of the elections, ZEC also received US$1.44 million worth of aid from Japan, managed by UNDP, to support capacity building of the commission.

ZEC is mostly funded by government. However, earlier this year, ZEC complained about delays by the Ministry of Finance in releasing its budget allocation.

While the EU no longer has general sanctions on Zimbabwe – the only measure left is an arms embargo – the bloc still does not give direct budgetary aid to the government. EU aid, such as the support to ZEC or other institutions, is delivered mostly through UN agencies and not through the government.

SADC Exposes Nevers Mumba A Well Known Convicted Mnangagwa-Agent, The Best To ‘Prosecute’ ZANU PF, So There’ll Never Be An Excuse for Dictatorship

By Editorial Team | The just released ZBC documentary against SADC has exposed ZANU PF and cleared the body of any bias in its findings from the 2023 elections, because the video’s fixation-the observer mission statement-announcer, Nevers Mumba is well known for over 27 years video as a sworn ZANU PF propaganda-agent, participating in Emmerson Mnangagwa’s prophetic mafia since 1995 (and even 5 months ago even recorded a notorious video protecting the disgraced Zim Govt ambassador Uebert Angel and Mnangagwa against a law enforcement investigation) and so SADC’s choice of an electoral head who is traditionally pro Mnangagwa seals the door against all manner of blame shifting or excuse accusing the body over bias, as he is organically more than neutral of which it should be @nelsonchamisa @CCCZimbabwe and others who are disadvantaged by any bias.

Mumba admits operating under Mnangagwa’s prophetic mafia head, Andrew Wutaunashe since 1995, and as late as August 2023, was still getting phone directions from Mnangagwa’s disgraced prophet Uebert Angel, for whom he recorded a video lying for him that Zimbabwe has sanctions on gold transactions.

So notorious was Mumba to the extent that he even nearly compromised his appointer by making the observer mission all about himself, says analyst and editor, Dr Brilliant Pongo, adding that Mumba is using his role for political campaign and strategic blighting of the SADC Chairperson of Defence And Politics, President Hakainde Hichilema.

There can therefore not be any grounds against Mumba, a mere statement announcer/reader, or the mission over accusations of bias.

Zim Dollar Collapses

By-The Zimbabwe dollar lost value against the United States dollar (USD) once again at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s wholesale foreign exchange auction held on September 19, 2023.

The RBZ reported that the USD was valued at ZW$5,015.4279 this Tuesday, which is higher compared to the rate of ZWL$4,712.1675 recorded on September 12, 2023. This increase follows the previous rate of ZWL$4,647.9681 observed on September 6, 2023.

Regarding the allocation of foreign currency from the auction, the majority, amounting to $275,395.54, was assigned to Machinery and Equipment. Services such as loans, education, dividends, and disinvestments received $163,240.14, while Consumables (including spares, tyres, electricals, etc.) followed closely with an allocation of $121,390.64. Raw materials obtained the lowest allocation of $45,391.75.

The total allocated amount was $713,950.34, which is a decrease from the previous allocation of $1,161,863.98.

In recent months, there has been a noticeable increase in the allocation of funds towards Services.

This allocation pattern represents a departure from the usual trend where raw materials typically received a larger share of the funds. The shift in allocation suggests changing priorities or demands within the economy post the 23-24 August 2023 elections.

These developments highlight the ongoing fluctuations in the exchange rate and the distribution of foreign currency across various sectors of the Zimbabwean economy. The stability of the exchange rate is yet to be determined, but some economists predicted that the Zimbabwean dollar may further depreciate after the period of August 23-24, 2023. They say this could occur if the newly-elected government does not take necessary measures to address the fundamental issues required for stabilising the macroeconomy and the local currency.

Notorious Robbers Nabbed

THREE suspected armed robbers accused of robbing a taxi driver in Harare, had their bid for freedom turned down after they were remanded in custody when they were arraigned in court at the weekend.

The three suspected robbers, who are said to have been armed with knives, allegedly pounced on a taxi driver and robbed him of his vehicle.

Tanyaradzwa Mangena, aged 23, Gray Moyo (29) and Chamunorwa Tachi (21) were remanded in custody when they appeared before Harare magistrate, Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.

The trio was asked to apply for bail at the High Court, as they are facing a third schedule offence.

Allegations are that the trio hired the complainant to ferry them to Kuwadzana from the Central Business District in Harare before they attacked him along the way.

The court heard that they produced knives demanding valuables and went on to shove the complainant from the moving vehicle.

The three went away with the car.

An investigation was launched leading to the trio’s arrest.

In another matter, 53-year-old Peter Mukushamano had his day in court after he allegedly swindled a land seeker of over US$10,000 in a botched land deal.

The court heard that Mukuchamano lied to the complainant that he was a Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement official and could organise farming land.

It is alleged that the accused was given US$10,000 but failed to provide the piece of land.

A report was made to the police after the accused became evasive and the complainant realised, he was duped.

Army Sides Face Dreaded Axe

WITH 11 matches to play before the end of the season, half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is haunted by relegation.

The threat of relegation is looming for most of the teams in the PSL after Match Day 23.

While Black Rhinos and Cranborne Bullets who are at the bottom of the log seem odds-on favorite to get the chop, Bulawayo Chiefs in eighth is equally in trouble.

The ambitious Bulawayo side is on 29 points, after defeating Dynamos 2-1 at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday. They might be far on the log positions but in terms of points, they are just five points away from Yadah who occupy the last relegation slot.

New boys Green Fuel who has made a dramatic surge up the ladder since the appointment of Rodwell Dhlakama are also on 29 points and within the relegation matrix and so is PSL returnees Hwange.

Fading Harare giants CAPS United are deep within the relegation fight as they are on 27 points, together with ZPC Kariba.

Herentals in seventh on 35 points with 11 games to play seem safe, barring any unthinkable happening but football being football you never know.
A look at the past few seasons shows that 38 points has generally been the safe mark to avoid relegation.

Last season, Harare City the last to get relegated had 35 points. However, in 2019 Chapungu and TelOne were all relegated despite notching 40 points apiece.

2018 the cut-off was 36 points when Nichrut, Bulawayo City, Mutare City, and Shabanie Mine kissed goodbye to topflight football, while the year before that it was 38 points.

On the other end of the table, the teams have different aspirations as they target to win the league title.

Highlanders finally remembered how to win after beating Yadah two-nil at Barbourfields Stadium to move back into second place, a point behind Ngezi Platinum Stars who thumped Green Fuel three-nil on Saturday.

Third-placed Manica Diamonds is keeping pace at the top after overcoming ZPC Kariba two-nil, while Chicken Inn in fourth and defending champions FC Platinum in fifth all have 37 points but are separated by an inferior goal difference.

Notorious Rapist Nailed

A 21-year-old man from Domboshava has been convicted of rape after raping nine women from his neighbourhood.

The man is also facing nine other counts of robbery.

The name Goodwill means kind-hearted but somehow the 21- year-old man has nothing close to good intentions after a reign of terror during which he raped nine women.

Goodwill Mhandu committed the crimes over a two year period in his neighbourhood of Domboshava.

The 21-year-old’s crimes seem to have been premeditated and well calculated as he targeted women selling in tuck shops whom he raped before robbing them of groceries.

The rapist has since been convicted of nine counts after appearing in court this Monday.

His tricks reportedly started sometime in 2021 when he pounced on an unsuspecting victim who was sleeping in a tuckshop and raped her three times.

He also went on to rape another woman in Domboshava after waylaying her while armed with an iron bar and a knife.

His case could be yet another version of Bright Zhantali’s heart rending story, in which he allegedly raped and killed more than 20 women.

The sex predator ran out of luck after he was arrested in Domboshava early this year with the police acting on a tip off.

He will be sentenced this Friday.

Zimbabwean Arrested in South Africa for Car Theft

Two foreign men were apprehended last week in South Africa for their alleged involvement in car theft. Zimbabwean national, Voughan Tinashe Muhezua, aged 31, and Malawian national, Ayidi Yufuf Tabu, aged 41, faced formal charges as they appeared briefly in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Tuesday.

Their arrests took place on Saturday, September 16, during a high-density operation conducted by officers from the Masemola policing precinct under the Sekhukhune District, in collaboration with various police sectors.

According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the Limpopo South African Police Service (SAPS), the police operation began when they spotted two Toyota Fortuner motor vehicles traveling together in a convoy on a public road. Suspecting foul play, they initiated a pursuit.

In an attempt to evade arrest, the drivers of the stolen vehicles accelerated their speed. However, they were ultimately cornered, stopped, and subjected to a thorough search. The Vehicle Identification and Safeguarding Unit (VIS) was called to the scene for further investigations.

Subsequently, it was revealed that both Toyota Fortuners had been reported stolen earlier this year in Gauteng, specifically in Roodepoort and Honeydew, with a combined value exceeding R1 million.

Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), mentioned that Muhezua still needs to secure legal representation before the court can proceed with his case. Furthermore, the court is awaiting a Shona interpreter for Tabu. As a result, both individuals have been remanded in custody, and the matter has been postponed until September 20.- Agencies

Robbers Pounce On Taxi Driver

Zim Dollar Crashes Again

EU Withdraws US$5Million ZEC Funding Over Election Rigging

By- The European Union (EU) has withdrawn US$5 million Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) funding over the rigging of last month’s election.

EU announced this in a statement Tuesday.

Observers believe this is a pressure tactic to push Harare to reform.

The EU-funded project, managed by UNDP, aimed to enhance ZEC’s capacity to conduct the entire electoral cycle, not just the elections.

However, the project is now frozen after disputed elections and allegations that ZEC is biased towards the ruling party Zanu PF.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa won the presidential vote by 52.6 percent.

The EU signed the Financing Agreement with the Ministry of Finance in November 2022 and joined the ZIM-ECO2 project with UNDP in December 2022, contributing a total of US$4.7 million.

About one million Euros (US$1.07m) have been spent so far.

In a statement today, the EU said it has formally notified both the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion and ZEC of its intention to suspend its support for the ZEC project.

The EU said several international Electoral Observation Missions (EOMs), including its own, have raised concerns about ZEC’s independence and transparency during the 2023 harmonised elections.

“The EU contributes together with other donors to a UNDP-managed project aiming at enhancing ZEC’s institutional and technical capabilities to fulfil its constitutional mandate,” the EU said.

“Due to these concerns and in line with responsible management of EU development cooperation funds, the EU has started a process to suspend its contribution to this project.

“The EU strongly emphasises the vital role of electoral management bodies as independent and transparent institutions that can deliver credible and inclusive electoral processes that earn the trust of citizens.”

The EU added that it is willing to resume its support if Zimbabwe makes efforts to improve its electoral processes and align them with the regional and international standards that it has signed.

“The European Union will keep monitoring developments in Zimbabwe and reaffirms its commitment to work with the government, independent commissions, civil society, and other stakeholders in promoting democracy, human rights and rule of law.”

A Ford Ranger, which Munyeza even claimed belonged to the bank, was also attached and sold for US$16 500.
The attachment of the vehicle was effected by Marjorie Mutemererwa, a business executive, who has been battling to recover the US$100 000 she is owed by Munyeza and his wife Wilma.
Mutemererwa has entered into a settlement agreement that Munyeza must honour to avoid civil imprisonment.
The lawyers from both sides have consented to the deed of settlement which awaits approval from the court.
In the deed of settlement, Munyeza commits to make his first payment by September 30.
Failure by Munyeza to settle his first payment, Mutemererwa will pursue civil imprisonment.
In her papers, Mutememererwa, said she loaned Munyeza the money on January 22 after his wife, Wilma, convinced her that they wanted to attend to an emergency.
Mutemerewa transferred the money to Munyeza’s bank account in Botswana.
She says she gave Munyeza the money because they knew each other and worked together on community issues.
Munyeza had agreed and promised to pay back the money with a generous interest of US$15 000 by January 31. H Metro

Mai TT Blames Social Media & Love For Things For Her Arrest

By- Convicted criminal and jailed comedienne and Felistas Murata, better known as Mai TT, has regretted living a fake life and social media.

Mai TT has revealed that these two left her counting the costs when she was incarcerated.
Addressing 230 other inmates and prison officials, as well as a visiting group of women from the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe, Mai TT spoke about how she engaged in criminal activities to maintain her celebrity lifestyle.
Her shame at her imprisonment, and her desire to maintain her true self, has caused her to learn from her mistakes and seek redemption.
“To be honest, I cried in my cell and did not want to interact with other inmates until I received counselling from our rehabilitation officers,” said Mai TT.
“Those counselling sessions healed me and I have gained strength.
“I have learnt from my mistakes and will not continue with the fake life I used to live.
“I tried to put on a brave face while I was suffering inside.”
She added: “I never thought that one day I would be counted among prisoners.
“I encouraged and gave hope to a number of women and marriages, but in reality, I felt humiliated, neglected and abused.
“I used to come here donating stuff but, today, I am being counted among inmates and not an inmate only, but a fraudster.”
She narrated her marriage to Tinashe Maphosa, who she described as a criminal who stole her money, leaving her in debts that left her in prison.
“When I got married to Tinashe, I bragged that I had found mbinga yangu. I was quick to go on live videos posting every detail of my success unaware that the end was going to be as sour as this.
“Tinashe paid lobola, borrowed money for a historic wedding where I arrived at the venue in a helicopter.
“He phoned my parents telling them he had bought a house for me in Madokero and furnished it on credit.
“After convincing me, I gave him my heart, my trust and that cost me.
“Tinashe refused to accompany me to Victoria Falls where I was hired to be an MC. He remained behind to steal my US$30 000 and flew back to America without my knowledge.
“The money was not mine, but belonged to a women’s revolving fund. Yaive mari yema round andaiita neshamwari dzangu. Ndakaziva kuti Tinashe andinyudza. Akabva andidzimira phone ndokuzobatika pava paya.
“I ended up engaging in theft of trust property as a way of covering my problems as I didn’t want anyone to know that I was in trouble.”
She added: “Since people used to know me as someone living a good life, I suffered inside trying to maintain my fake life yet I was in a big trouble.
“Tinashe promised to repay my money saying he was expecting US$400 000 and that was that, until my friends haunted me for their money leaving them without an option, but to seek justice in the courts of law.
“Another friend lodged a complaint against me while I was already serving my sentence.
“I was puzzled and one of the inmates taught me to knit some bags for sale and this helped me and I am now raising some money from it.
“I am in jail, but relieved now. It is my prayer that God restores my stolen heart, gives me another chance to live a realistic, and not fake life.”

Treat Mining Like Real Business

FORUS leader Manyara Muyenziwa pushes for agricultural development and modernisation

By A Correspondent- FORUS President Manyara Irene Muyenziwa is attending high-level meetings and forging partnerships with international organisations in a move aimed at contributing towards the country’s agricultural development initiatives.

Manyara Muyenziwa

In a statement released by Muyenziwa, the development is necessitated by the need to bring new techniques and technologies to Zimbabwe’s farmers.

Said Muyenziwa in a statement:

President Manyara Irene Muyenziwa is a woman on a mission – to push for agricultural development and modernization in Zimbabwe. She understands the importance of this sector to the country’s growth and well-being, and the potential it holds for creating employment and increasing profits.

Through scientific research and collaboration, she has discovered ways to achieve higher yields and produce healthier, disease-resistant crops. The potential is enormous, not just for Zimbabwe’s own food security, but for exporting crops to other African nations as well.

It is pivotal that Zimbabwe does not lose out on this opportunity for growth and prosperity. With President Muyenziwa’s sincerity and passion for development, there is hope that the country will rise again to be the breadbasket of Southern Africa. It is time to support her efforts for the benefit of all Zimbabweans, and to pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.

Mai Titi Opens Up On Life Of Crime To Keep Up Appearance

JAILED comedienne and musician, Mai TT, has revealed the difficulties which led her to a life of crime and fake marriages that left her counting the costs when she was incarcerated.

Addressing 230 other inmates and prison officials, as well as a visiting group of women from the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe, Mai TT spoke about how she engaged in criminal activities to maintain her celebrity lifestyle.

Her shame at her imprisonment, and her desire to maintain her true self, has caused
her to learn from her mistakes and seek redemption.

“To be honest, I cried in my cell and did not want to interact with other inmates until I
received counselling from our rehabilitation officers,” said Mai TT.

“Those counselling sessions healed me and I have gained strength.

“I have learnt from my mistakes and will not continue with the fake life I used to live.

“I tried to put on a brave face while I was suffering inside.”

She added: “I never thought that one day I would be counted among prisoners.

“I encouraged and gave hope to a number of women and marriages, but in reality, I
felt humiliated, neglected and abused.

“I used to come here donating stuff but, today, I am being counted among inmates
and not an inmate only, but a fraudster.”

She narrated her marriage to Tinashe Maphosa, who she described as a criminal
who stole her money, leaving her in debts that left her in prison.

“When I got married to Tinashe, I bragged that I had found mbinga yangu. I was quick
to go on live videos posting every detail of my success unaware that the end was
going to be as sour as this.

“Tinashe paid lobola, borrowed money for a historic wedding where I arrived at the
venue in a helicopter.

“He phoned my parents telling them he had bought a house for me in Madokero and
furnished it on credit.

“After convincing me, I gave him my heart, my trust and that cost me.

“Tinashe refused to accompany me to Victoria Falls where I was hired to be an MC.

He remained behind to steal my US$30 000 and flew back to America without my
knowledge.

“The money was not mine, but belonged to a women’s revolving fund. Yaive mari
yema round andaiita neshamwari dzangu. Ndakaziva kuti Tinashe andinyudza.
Akabva andidzimira phone ndokuzobatika pava paya.

“I ended up engaging in theft of trust property as a way of covering my problems as I
didn’t want anyone to know that I was in trouble.”

She added: “Since people used to know me as someone living a good life, I suffered
inside trying to maintain my fake life yet I was in a big trouble.

“Tinashe promised to repay my money saying he was expecting US$400 000 and
that was that, until my friends haunted me for their money leaving them without an
option, but to seek justice in the courts of law.

“Another friend lodged a complaint against me while I was already serving my
sentence.

“I was puzzled and one of the inmates taught me to knit some bags for sale and this
helped me and I am now raising some money from it.

“I am in jail, but relieved now. It is my prayer that God restores my stolen heart, gives
me another chance to live a realistic, and not fake life.”

Tragedy as 3 girls drown while fishing

Tragedy struck on Sunday as three young girls tragically drowned while fishing in the Chiraire River in Chiweshe. The bodies of the victims were recovered by the police yesterday and are currently awaiting post-mortem examinations.

Although the police were unavailable for immediate comment, Mr. Edmore Mandaza, the Ward 5 councillor, confirmed the heartbreaking incident. He revealed that the unfortunate incident occurred around 4:00 PM on Sunday. Two of the girls hailed from Chasakara village and were attending primary school, while the third girl, from Mukodzongi village, was preparing to sit for her form four examination at Marongwe Secondary School this year.

Mandaza appealed for assistance to support the grieving families who have been deeply affected by this tragedy.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of young lives, Cde Maxmore Njanji, the Mazowe Central legislator, pledged to provide aid to the victims. He lamented the fact that these young girls, who should have been actively involved in nation-building, had their lives cut short. Cde Njanji emphasized the importance of communities taking precautions to safeguard the lives of young girls from such life-threatening incidents.

“It is sad that we lost young lives who are supposed to be actively participating in the building of our nation

Over 1k touts arrested in Operation Tame the Traffic Jungle

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested over 1000 touts (mahwindi) nationwide as part of the ongoing Operation Tame the Traffic Jungle. According to a police statement seen by Pindula News, 530 vehicles have also been seized for operating without registration plates on the roads.

Read the statement:

The ZRP reports that a total of 19,039 arrests have been effected during the ongoing operation, “Tame the Traffic Jungle. 509 arrests have been made on vehicles without route permits while 7 890 arrests have been made on illegal pirate taxis (mushikashika). 257 motorists have been arrested for reckless driving, while 1 164 people have been arrested for touting. Meanwhile, 530 vehicles have been impounded for moving on the roads with no registration plates.

Police launched the operation across all provinces of the country starting on September 12, 2023. The operation aims to address the widespread disregard for traffic laws, particularly in major cities and towns.

In an earlier statement, police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that instances such as driving against traffic flow, running red lights, and reckless lane violations have contributed to chaos and congestion.

Some analysts, however, attribute traffic congestion in Zimbabwean cities like Harare to insufficient infrastructure, poor traffic management, inefficient public transportation, inadequate parking facilities, and rapid urbanisation. They say these factors result in increased reliance on private vehicles, inadequate road capacity, and traffic flow disruptions.

The public transport system in Zimbabwe collapsed in the early 2000s due to a combination of economic challenges and poor governance. Factors such as hyperinflation, fuel shortages, lack of infrastructure maintenance, and overall economic decline contributed to the collapse. This led to a decline in the quality and availability of public transportation services, impacting the mobility and accessibility of the population. The collapse resulted in a reliance on informal and often unsafe modes of transportation, exacerbating the transportation challenges faced by Zimbabweans.

Therefore, addressing mshika-shika and touts alone won’t solve Zimbabwe’s transportation challenges. Comprehensive solutions require infrastructure development, improved public transportation, regulations, economic stability, and job creation.

CCC Aligned Businessman Fined For Assaulting Zanu PF Supporter

A businessman aligned with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has been fined by a Harare magistrate for allegedly assaulting a Zanu PF supporter.

According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum (the Forum), on September 13, 2023, Ngwaru Masadza (49), a businessman from Mt Hampden, was convicted of two charges of assault and a third count of ripping a political poster of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for an incident that
took place on July 30, 2023.

Masadza was arraigned before Harare Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda for assaulting Vimbayi Kahondo, a Zanu PF member.

He was represented by Noble Chinhanu, of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO
Forum.

“A businessman from Mt Hampden aligned to CCC, Ngwaru Masadza (49) has been
ordered to pay a fine of US$50 or spend 20 days in prison for assaulting a Zanu PF
supporter, Vimbayi Kahondo,” said the Forum in a statement.

The Forum said Masadza was sentenced on September 16, 2023, following his
conviction by Magistrate Dzuda for assaulting Kahondo.

“It was alleged that on July 30, 2023, 40 Zanu PF supporters ordered Masadza to
close his shop and attend their rally. When Masadza refused, the Zanu PF supporters
forcibly closed the door of the shop with him and his wife still inside. Masadza tried to
open the door and Kahondo, who was standing behind the door, fell,” said the human
rights organisation.

Kahondo reported Masadza to the police, leading to his arrest.

“Whilst the Court found him not guilty of one count of assault and of tearing a political
poster, he was found guilty of assaulting Kahondo. Magistrate Dzuda ruled Masadza
had opened the door well knowing that doing so had the risk of hurting the
complainant who was behind the door and therefore he was guilty of assault,” said
the Forum.

CCC activist in soup over Zanu PF register

A Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist, accused of taking cell registers from Zanu-PF members on August 23, appeared before Plumtree magistrate Afarat Kozanai on Friday, facing theft charges.

Solani Moyo pleaded not guilty to the offense and is scheduled to return to court for trial on October 27.

According to court documents, on August 23, Moyo encountered six Zanu-PF officials near Mazalingwe Secondary School and approached them. He inquired about their presence near a polling station, but they reportedly ignored him. Allegedly, Moyo, accompanied by other CCC activists, then took the Zanu-PF cell registers they were holding and left the scene.

ActSA calls for solidarity

Regional civil society organization, Action for Southern Africa (ActSA), has raised concerns about the shrinking space for civil society in Zimbabwe and called for solidarity movements worldwide to support and reinforce the country’s civil society organizations.

ActSA, which collaborates with civil society organizations in southern Africa and the United Kingdom, published a joint report with the University of Liverpool titled “Voices from the Frontline: Repression and Shrinking Space for Civil Society Organizations in Zimbabwe.” The report documents the experiences of civil society leaders in Zimbabwe leading up to the August 23 and 24 elections and highlights the challenges they face.

The report includes personal experiences shared by civil society leaders and human rights defenders in Zimbabwe, who remained anonymous for their safety.

Zimbabwean civil society is described as being under siege and in need of support from global solidarity movements. ActSA hopes the report will reinvigorate dialogue between civil society in the UK, Zimbabwe, and funders and decision-makers to find a way forward.

The report addresses concerns such as the denial of due process under the law, systematic attacks on civil society groups, and intimidation of professional groups to support the regime of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The constrained environment, due to repressive legislation, has led to self-censorship among civil society organizations, resulting in covert mistrust. Many key organizations have closed, putting increased pressure on those that remain operational. Regional solidarity is seen as essential to supporting Zimbabwean civil society.

ActSA recommends that the African diplomatic community as a whole should be invited to address the increasing regression in human rights and democratic governance in Zimbabwe. It also suggests using global commitments, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to highlight regressive policies and practices in Zimbabwe related to democracy, the role of women, vibrant civil society, and partnerships between corporate entities, government, and civil society.

The report points out that since the 2017 military coup, Mnangagwa’s regime has been working to shrink both civic and political spaces through various means, including repressive legislation like the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Amendment Act No 10 of 2023, which criminalizes criticism of the government. The Act came into force on July 14, 2023.

The report also highlights reported cases of abduction since 2020, the prolonged incarceration of former Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala, and unexplained political murders as contentious issues in Zimbabwe.

CCC wallops Zanu pf in Chitungwiza mayoral polls

Lovemore Maiko, the councillor for Ward 7 and member of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been re-elected as the mayor of Chitungwiza.

Maiko secured 31 votes, defeating his opponent Leah Chidamba from the Zanu PF party, who received only two votes. Joining him as the deputy mayor is Jerita Mutingwende, the councillor for Ward 12, who is also a CCC member.

The election process was overseen by Tafadzwa Muguti, the Secretary of Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution. Muguti emphasized the need for councillors to prioritize their duties over political affiliations, urging them to shed their political jackets when performing their responsibilities. He emphasized that once elected, councillors become government officials whose primary focus should be serving the residents of Chitungwiza. Muguti encouraged collaborative efforts between the mayor, the deputy mayor, and the councillors for the betterment of the municipality.

In his acceptance speech, Mayor Maiko expressed his deep sense of responsibility and commitment to serving the residents of Chitungwiza. He pledged to prioritize their needs and work diligently to provide quality services reliably. Maiko emphasized that councillors should always remember that they are residents first and foremost, and they should approach their roles with this perspective in mind. Through collective efforts, he intends to address the challenges faced by the municipality and ensure effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that benefit the community.

It is noteworthy that the re-election of Lovemore Maiko as Chitungwiza’s mayor highlights the continued support and confidence placed in him by the residents. By emphasizing the importance of serving the community above political affiliations, the mayor and his deputy aim to lead the municipality towards positive change and improved living conditions for its residents.

Lula lula loving man in soup again

A mischievous man from Rusape, who was previously fined five cattle for dating his son’s wife, found himself back in court for a similar offense. Isaac Marowa, residing in Masvosva Village, was summoned to Chief Makoni’s court for engaging in a romantic relationship with his son Bartholomew Marowa’s wife, Forget Marowa.

This wasn’t the first time Isaac had faced such accusations. In February 2022, he was convicted of dating his daughter-in-law after Bartholomew discovered intimate love messages between Isaac and Forget on her cellphone. Consequently, Bartholomew evicted Forget from their marital home, but he eventually forgave her and took her back.

However, the situation took another unfortunate turn when Bartholomew uncovered evidence of continued contact between Isaac and Forget. Bartholomew shared his grievances before the community court, revealing that Forget had saved Isaac’s number as “YYU” in her phone and that they exchanged numerous affectionate messages. The messages even included plans to meet in Rusape for a secret rendezvous away from prying eyes.

Bartholomew expressed his frustration, stating that this was his second time seeking the court’s intervention regarding his father’s involvement with his wife. He accused both Isaac and Forget of denying the relationship. However, Isaac refuted the allegations, claiming his son was merely suspicious and lacked concrete evidence. Isaac further shared that his son had even set his house on fire over these unfounded accusations.

Forget also denied any romantic involvement with her father-in-law, asserting that her phone was always in her husband’s possession, making it impossible for her to engage in such communication with Isaac.

Despite the conflicting testimonies, Chief Makoni’s court found Isaac guilty of adultery and imposed a fine of two cattle. Additionally, he was found guilty of incest and was required to pay one beast. As part of the ruling, Isaac was ordered to compensate his son with two goats to cover the expenses incurred during the lawsuit.

The court’s decision aimed to address the complex familial dynamics and hold Isaac accountable for his actions, emphasizing the repercussions of engaging in such relationships within the family unit.

Mthuli Ncube Claims Zim Economy Is Thriving

Finance and Investment Promotion Minister, Mthuli Ncube, has stated that Zimbabweans should embrace the current favorable economic conditions, emphasizing that the country’s economy is thriving.

Speaking at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) convention in Bulawayo, Minister Ncube highlighted the positive economic growth rates over the past three years: 8.5% GDP growth in 2021, 6.5% in 2022, and an expected 6% for the current year.

Minister Ncube urged people to enjoy the economic prosperity, despite concerns about inflation and past currency weaknesses. He noted that many goods on store shelves are now locally produced, with 80% of items being domestically manufactured, a significant increase from previous years.

He also reassured the public that the current multi-currency regime would remain in place, allowing consumers to choose from various currencies. Minister Ncube discouraged speculation about currency issues, given the multiple currency options available.

However, the National Consumer Rights Association criticized Minister Ncube’s positive assessment, describing it as disconnected from the reality faced by ordinary citizens. They argued that while the government touts economic growth, millions of Zimbabweans continue to struggle with unemployment, poverty, and hunger. They urged the government to address the real-life challenges faced by the population.

In June, the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) reported that a family of six required ZWL$1 million per month to meet basic survival needs, reflecting a significant increase in living costs. The country is grappling with economic challenges, including a weakening currency, rising inflation, and price hikes for essential commodities, all of which are straining workers with low incomes.

Economic analysts also noted that the high inflation rate is affecting real growth, investment, and capital inflows, contributing to economic uncertainty in the country.

Vuzu party teens nabbed

Police in Bulawayo are currently investigating an incident involving 14 high school students who were discovered hosting a vuzu party in Pumula South last Friday afternoon. The authorities were alerted to the situation by a concerned individual who noticed a group of students entering a house while wearing their school uniforms and carrying alcohol.

Bulawayo’s acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, stated that upon receiving the tip-off, the police promptly responded and discovered unused condoms and alcohol at the scene. The students, aged between 15 and 17, hailed from Milton High School, Evelyn High School, and Herentals College. Four bottles of wine were found, with two already consumed and the remaining two yet to be opened.

During the police raid, two students managed to escape by scaling over a precast wall. Inspector Msebele expressed gratitude towards the vigilant individuals who reported the incident, emphasizing the importance of community members notifying the police when such activities occur. She advised parents and guardians to ensure that their neighbours are aware when they are absent for extended periods, as this can help prevent similar incidents.

“We advise that parents and guardians of teenagers make sure that their neighbours know when they are not around. This helps when situations like these arise, because we learnt that the owners of the house where this party took place were not around, hence, this happened,” added Msebele, highlighting the significance of fostering a supportive community environment.

The investigation into the vuzu party remains ongoing as the police work to gather further information and take appropriate action.

Losing Zanu PF MPs Challenge Chamisa Victory

By- Two losing Zanu PF MPs for Zvimba East and Seke constituency have approached the courts to overturn the final results announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in last month’s elections.

Francis Mukwangwariwa, the ZANU PF candidate for Zvimba East, lost to Oliver Mutasa of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) by 189 votes. In the Seke constituency, ZANU PF candidate Munyaradzi Tobias Kashambe was defeated by William Madzimbamuto of CCC by 755 votes.

The ZANU PF candidates have filed a petition in court against the winners and ZEC, seeking to overturn the declaration and requesting that the respondents cover the legal costs. Mukwangwariwa’s petition alleges electoral irregularities that occurred on August 23, the day of the voting. Mukwangwariwa wrote in his affidavit:

On the day of voting and at Stapleford Siding polling station there were various electoral irregularities that occurred more particularly in that: The Zec officials who were at the said polling station were giving voters aligned to Mutasa more ballot papers than what is required. Some of the voters aligned to Mutasa were being given five ballot papers instead of three ballot papers. The extra two ballot papers were for the National Assembly elections ballots.

My election polling agents noticed the anomaly and complained to the Zec official and the later did not address the issue in a meaningful way. My polling agents witnessed and confirmed one voter namely Oliver ID 63-163346-W-63, who had been given five ballot papers with extra two parliamentary ballots all of which had been voted in favour of Mutasa.

Mukwangwariwa claimed that despite alerting the police, ZEC ignored irregularities at the polling station. He argued that the declaration of poll results lacked information on rejected votes, contradicting his observations of people voting with extra ballot papers. His polling agent refused to sign the V23B form due to inconsistencies. Mukwangwariwa criticized the lack of proper verification and reconciliation before declaring the final results. The respondents’ response is pending.

In the Seke constituency, Kashambe, the losing ZANU PF candidate, is requesting a vote recount due to alleged mathematical errors in tallying the total votes, resulting in an inflated count for Madzimbamuto. Kashambe also claims corruption, stating that elderly voters were denied assistance despite difficulties finding their names on the voter list. Kaseke alleges:

ELECTION PETITION IN TERMS OF SECTION 167 OF THE ELECTORAL ACT, As Read with the Electoral Rules and Regulations.

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Petitioner Intends to make, and hereby presents, an Election Petition to the Electoral Court, sitting at Harare, challenging the result of the Rational Assembly Election for the MASHONALAND EAST PROVIIICE, SEKE, held as part of the 2023 General Elections. This Petition is presented in terms of Section 167 of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13] and Electoral (Applications, Appeals and Petitions,1995) for an Order setting, aside the declaration by the Constituency Elections Officer of TAPFUMAIIEI WILLARD MADZIMBAMUTO as the duly elected Member of the National Assembly for MASHOHALAI ID EAST PROVINCE SEKE Constituency in the General Elections held on the 23’a of August 2023 and that An order for re-election and/or alternatively an order for a vote recount be granted.

The grounds for this petition are:-

a. Irregularities in that there were mathematical errors in adding the total number of votes received thereby inflating the number of votes received for the Respondent.

b. Corrupt practices in that there were old-aged voters who were turned away for failure to locate their names despite the fact that no assistance was given to them. Again, during the counting times, polling agents representing the applicant’s political party at some points were chased away from the polling room while respondent’s agents remained.

The accompanying Affidavit/s and documents, together with evidence to be adduced at the trial hereof, will be used in support of this Petition

50 Malawians Rot in Zim Prisons

Over 50 Malawian citizens have found themselves detained in Zimbabwean prisons for over three months now as they await repatriation back to Malawi. Most were arrested while attempting to illegally enter neighbouring South Africa. Unlike other regional countries, Zimbabwe does not have dedicated detention facilities for undocumented immigrants. As such, those apprehended are currently being held alongside convicted criminals in prisons.

Officials from the Malawian Embassy in Zimbabwe have expressed concern over the prolonged detention. Deputy Ambassador Elias Mpaso explained that the Malawian government presently lacks the funds to facilitate the repatriation process. With new immigrants caught crossing borders on a daily basis, the financial burden has become too great for Malawi to handle alone. The deportees themselves must rely on family members back home to purchase tickets for their return, which slows things down drastically.

International organizations like the International Organization for Migration have been requested to assist. However, for the 50-plus still imprisoned, freedom seems a long way off without further help. The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission has further criticized their incarceration as a human rights violation, arguing detainees should not be mixed with convicts.

Both governments are in a difficult position. While seeking to uphold border security and immigration laws, prolonged detention creates widespread welfare issues. An urgent humanitarian solution is needed to end this regrettable situation.

Toddler (2) electrocuted

A tragic accident in Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe has taken the life of a toddler. On Wednesday last week, two-year-old Leeroy Linnel Sakatero was fatally electrocuted at his family’s home in Portlet Farm.

According to police spokesperson Inspector Margaret Chitove, the boy somehow inserted a steel nail into an active electrical socket in his parents’ bedroom. Tragically, he also attempted to lick the nail with his tongue, resulting in a shock that took his life.

The incident occurred in the afternoon while Leeroy’s mother Nomsa Tembo was attending to chores outside. His body was later taken to the Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital mortuary.

Inspector Chitove confirmed the details and expressed condolences to the family. She further urged all guardians to be vigilant in securing potential dangers from young children. Electrical outlets, appliances, tools and other hazardous objects should be kept well out of reach of minors, for their safety.

CCC to challenge yellow tie ban in parliament

Opposition legislators from the Citizens for Coalition of Change (CCC) have expressed their intention to challenge the recent ban on wearing yellow ties in Parliament. The ban was imposed following allegations by Zanu PF legislators that the opposition MPs were donning party regalia during the swearing-in ceremony.

Yellow happens to be the official colour of the CCC party, prompting concerns over the ban. Amos Chibaya, the legislator for Mkoba, criticized the prohibition, calling it harassment. He argued that there is no existing law that prohibits Members of Parliament from wearing yellow ties and stated that CCC would seek legal action to challenge the ban.

Chibaya further suggested that the opposition’s choice of yellow ties may have triggered the disapproval of Zanu PF members. He clarified that the yellow ties worn by CCC legislators during the ceremony did not feature any party symbols. He believes that the ban is unjustified and needs to be addressed through legal channels.

Last year, Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda had ruled that political regalia should not be worn in the parliamentary chambers. Mudenda emphasized that the chamber is a public institution representing all citizens of Zimbabwe and should not be influenced by specific political affiliations. While political attire is permitted outside the chambers, it is discouraged within the parliamentary setting.

The issue of the yellow ties has sparked a debate regarding personal expression and party identification within the parliamentary context. As CCC legislators prepare to challenge the ban, the outcome remains uncertain, leaving room for potential legal and procedural discussions in the future.

Tobacco harm reduction policies lacking

Experts have revealed that tobacco is responsible for a greater number of preventable deaths than obesity, alcohol, road accidents, drug abuse, and HIV combined. Shockingly, tobacco claims the lives of approximately eight million people worldwide every year.

During a gathering of health journalists from across Africa, Kgosi Letlape, the President of the Africa Medical Association, highlighted the lack of relevant tobacco policies throughout the continent. He called upon nations to implement policies that prioritize tobacco harm reduction. Letlape argued that promoting non-combustible tobacco products could significantly reduce smoking-related deaths.

He emphasized that tobacco-related diseases primarily arise from the combustion of tobacco products. The focus should shift from combating combustible tobacco to addressing the risks associated with nicotine in any form. Letlape stressed the importance of establishing a legislative framework that ensures smokers are well-informed about the effects of these products. The framework should also regulate products based on their associated harm, guiding policy-making and regulations.

Clive Bates, the Director of Action on Smoking and Health UK, stated that while people smoke for nicotine, it is the tar that ultimately leads to their demise.

These revelations underscore the urgent need for comprehensive measures to combat the devastating impact of tobacco. By prioritizing tobacco harm reduction and implementing informed policies, countries can strive towards reducing the staggering number of deaths caused by tobacco-related diseases. The focus on non-combustible alternatives presents an opportunity to save countless lives and protect public health.
