ZESA Fails To Deal With Power Crisis

THE Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) says the current increased load shedding is due to depressed generation capacity at its power stations.

According to generation statistics as of Wednesday, the Zimbabwe Power Company was producing 934 megawatts of electricity from its five power stations.

Kariba had the highest output at 751 Megawatts, followed by Hwange at 145 Megawatts while the small thermal stations were producing a combined 38 Megawatts.

In a notice, the ZETDC said the increased load curtailment which began on Monday, would last until Friday this week.

“This is due to depressed generation in the grid coupled by increased electricity demand as a result of increased economic activities,” it said.

The country requires over 2 000 Megawatts per day with regional imports, which require up to US$17 million per month, offsetting the deficit.

These have however not been consistent chiefly due to failure by the power utility to make regular payments to its regional suppliers.

In June this year, Cabinet approved the review of the electricity value chain from production to retail in order to manage the increased demand for power caused by increasing economic activity.

Increased economic activity, especially in the agricultural and mining sectors as well as the manufacturing sector, had spurred increased demand for electricity.

Additionally, ongoing massive housing and other infrastructural development projects were also leading to increased electricity consumption.

To resolve the electricity challenges, several power projects are at various stages of implementation including the expansion of the Hwange power plant by an additional two units, with the first one expected to come online in November this year.

The two units at Hwange will churn out a combined 600 Megawatts.

Zimbabwe is also working with Zambia on the 2 400 Megawatt Batoka Gorge hydro-electric power plant as the country eyes energy self-sufficiency. –New Ziana

Man Scales Precast Wall, Bashes Lover For Ditching Him

A taxi driver is on the run after he allegedly scaled a precast wall at his lover’s place and bashed her in the presence of her parents over why she ditched him.

Tinashe Dimairo (35) was dumped by his lover Amelia Dube (32) as it is said he was always in the habit of bashing her whenever they argued.

On Monday Tinashe was surprised to discover that his lover had deserted to her parents’ place in Cowdray Park suburb.

His close friend who requested not to be named said after that he drove to Cowdray Park and when he arrived at his lover’s place he parked his car outside.

“He knocked at the gate but Amelia refused to open the gate for him and it seems that angered him causing him to jump over the wall and heading to the living room where she was and grabbed her before bashing her in the presence of her parents,” said Tinashe’s friend.

He added: “Her father intervened and blocked him from further beating her up.”

Tinashe fled from the scene. The matter was reported to the police but the force is yet to arrest him.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

He appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of Tinashe.

“Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Tinashe may contact any nearest police station or call us on 292260358,”he said.- B-Metro

Coup General Declared Hero

Brigadier General Charles Kaneta, who died on Saturday after collapsing at his farm in Nyanga, has been declared a national hero in honour of the immense contributions he made to his country before and after independence.

He died at the age of 64.

He collapsed at his farm on Saturday and was rushed to Hauna District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at around noon.

Brig-Gen Kaneta was the Director General Logistics at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Headquarters.

In his condolence message last night, President Mnangagwa said he learnt with shock and sadness the death of Brig Gen Kaneta.

“It was with profound shock and sadness that I learnt of the untimely passing on of Brigadier General Charles Kaneta at his rural home in Honde last Saturday,” said President Mnangagwa.

“What makes his demise painful and difficult to accept is that he showed no signs of being unwell and was on a routine visit to his rural home.

“The passing on of Brigadier General Kaneta, whose Chimurenga name was Santana Tongai, is a great loss to our nation, and to our Defence Force whose crop of wartime field commanders is gradually being whittled down.”

Brig-Gen Kaneta joined the liberation struggle in 1975 in Mozambique at a young age.

He was a graduate of the Nanjing Military Academy in China, as well as a beneficiary of specialised military training in Syria.

President Mnangagwa said Brig-Gen Kaneta’s contribution to the liberation struggle “stands out in our annals of liberation history”.

“He was a tough and brilliant military instructor through whose hands passed many cadres, including senior party officials such as the late national hero Cde Herbert Ushewokunze, late Cde Crispen Mandizvidza and Dr Sidney Sekeramayi,” he said.

Following his attestation in 1981 into the integrated Zimbabwe National Army, Brig-Gen Kaneta had an illustrious military career, rising through the ranks to become a Brigadier General.

“He served our nation well. On behalf of the party, Zanu PF, Government, the people of Zimbabwe, my family and indeed on my behalf, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to the Kaneta family, especially to his wife, Amai Kaneta, and the children who have lost a loving husband and father respectively.

“May they take comfort from the knowledge that we are together during their darkest hour of grief and sorrow.

“In recognition of his immense contribution to the liberation of our nation and to our independence in the service of the Zimbabwe Defence Force, the party has seen it fit and proper to honour the late Brigadier General Charles Kaneta with national hero status.

“May his dear soul rest in eternal peace,” said President Mnangagwa.

Lover Throws Mai TT Under The Bus

By-Comedian and socialite “Mai Titi is now regretting borrowing for her April wedding with the US-based gold-digger Tinashe Maphosa.

This comes after people whom she borrowed are now haunting her over unpaid debts.

Mai Titi had a flamboyant wedding with Maphosa where she splashed up to US$100 000.

So extravagant was the wedding ceremony that Mai Titi invited South African songbird, Kelly Khumalo to serenade guests.

However, it later turned out that she did not fork out the whole amount from her own pocket. According to the comedienne, she had borrowed some of the money in anticipation that her husband would reimburse as agreed.

Alas, after the wedding, Maphosa did not honour his word, which led to Mai Titi’s public meltdown where she was demanding money from him to pay back their creditors.

The public spat soon degenerated and the two had to call it quits just four months into their union.
In a move to signify a new chapter, Mai Titi last week burnt her expensive wedding gown which she initially said was worth US$4 000 before changing goal posts to a whopping US$6 000.
Many found her actions insensible considering the fact that there was once a Go Fund Me campaign to help pull her out of debt.
Now, just a few days after burning the dress, Mai Titi has revealed that people she owe money are on her case after they spotted her looking glamorous at the recently held Miss Zimbabwe Beauty Contest 2022.

Zanu PF Absorbs Makandiwa

By James Gwati-Zanu PF has absorbed the Emmanuel Makandiwa-led United Family International Church (UFIC) and converted it into its 2023 campaign agent.

On Sunday, Zanu PF national Political Commissar Mike Bimha and his wife were at Makandiwa’s Church in Chitungwiza.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa instructed Bimha to visit Makandiwa’s church frequently.

In his address, the coerced Makandiwa said that Zanu PF was developing the nation.
He said:
You highlighted something which is very crucial, Dr Bimha that we have managed to stretch as a nation in terms of development.
However, not much is being said concerning the developments taking place and we are behind in terms of marketing ourselves globally. There is a lot that has to be known about us.
… As men of God, we need to deal with the cloud that hovers around this country because if it is not removed, the citizens will remain under that cloud.
There is need for prayer to be raised so that people can begin to appreciate good things.
In his address, Bimha urged UFIC as well as other churches to continue praying for peace and unity in the country. He said:
Unity is what we seek from Prophet Makandiwa and your church, and we ask you to pray for us. It is through your prayers that we are still living in peace. Other countries have wars every time.
Peace does not just come, it’s through your prayers. You might pray silently without making any noise about it, but we know that you pray for this country Prophet Makandiwa.
Bimha also told the congregants that the government values the role of the churches in the country and the national constitution recognises freedom of worship. |

Robbers Hit Zanu PF Bank, Grab US$70 000

By-Five armed robbers yesterday pounced on CBZ Bank’s Fife Street branch in Bulawayo and got away with US$70 000 amid concerns over an increase in armed robberies countrywide.

Zanu PF abuses CBZ to fund its campaign activities.

The robbery, which occurred around midday, comes a month after armed robbers raided a Mukuru branch in the city centre and got away with more than US$100 000.
The branch is situated along 10th Avenue between Fife Street and George Silundika Street.
The branch mostly services clients who will be receiving money from international financial agents.
When a Chronicle news crew visited the scene yesterday at around 2PM, there was a heavy police presence outside the bank with detectives carrying out investigations.
The bank was also no longer allowing clients inside the banking hall and people were withdrawing cash using the automated teller machine (ATM).
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the armed robbery, saying investigations were on course.
“Yes, we are conducting investigations after five armed robbers raided a local financial institution and got away with US$70 000. The five suspects masqueraded as genuine customers and queued just like everyone else in the banking hall,” he said.
“When they were about to be served, they then pounced on the bank manager and got away with the money.”
Asst Comm Nyathi said on their way out the suspects jammed the exit door before escaping.
“No arrests have been made so far and we are appealing to members of the public who might have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to any nearest police station,” said the police spokesperson.
City residents who spoke to the news crew said the increase in armed robberies is becoming an issue of concern.
Mr Blessing Nyani, a vendor operating at corner 10th Avenue and Fife Street, said he was shocked upon discovering that the bank had been robbed.
“To tell you the truth we didn’t know what had transpired. We only got to learn about the robbery when we saw armed police officers at the scene and that’s when we were told that the bank had been robbed,” he said.
“This is something that is very worrying to us as residents. Just recently, Mukuru was raided and surely, we are no longer safe consider the rate at which these robberies are happening.”
Another resident, who declined to be named, said he initially wanted to enter the banking hall before he was told that it was now a crime scene.
“I was surprised because there was nothing that pointed to the fact that a robbery had happened. From what I have gathered this thing happened so quickly and most people did not see or suspect anything,” he said.
“I would like to commend the bank for handling this issue in a very professional way. We understand that this was a traumatic experience, but they kept serving us through the ATM.”
The incident follows last month’s raid of another financial institution where four gun-wielding robbers got away with a total of US$100 000 and R500 000 after intercepting a cash-in-transit Safeguard vehicle outside a money transfer agent in the city centre.
Armed robbers last month raided Mukuru branch along 13th Avenue, between Lobengula and Herbert Chitepo Street.
Following an increase in armed robbery cases, President Mnangagwa last month issued an amnesty to all members of the public who are in possession of unregistered firearms and ammunition to surrender them to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
The amnesty which started on August 8 will run until the end of this month.
By Monday, 412 guns had been surrendered to the police. Chronicle

ZEPs Haunt SA Home Affairs Minister

By-South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said that expired Zimbabwean exemption permit (ZEP) holders who do not apply to be in the country legally would be punished if they remain in SA after the grace period runs out.

Motsoaledi said this on Tuesday when he appeared in parliament to provide an update on the ZEP process underway.

 He said:

The ball is in their court, not in the government’s court. We will deal with them the same way we deal with someone who is in the country illegally and overstayed. There is punishment for that.

Motsoaledi explained that there are two applications the Department of Home Affairs is expecting from expired Zimbabwean exemption permit (ZEP) holders. He said:

There are two applications we are expecting from Zimbabweans, namely the visa in terms of the Immigration Act and an application for a waiver where an applicant may say these are their circumstances and they ask for a waiver from what the government has directed them to do.

We realised that work needed experts because it is a special dispensation, so I appointed a team of six, including three officials who were dealing with the reviewing of permits and three senior councils from the private sector.

They have had several meetings to outline how the work is going to be done so there is a common understanding and they follow similar standards when they start working.

Motsoaledi insisted that the South African government was not targetting Zimbabweans. He said:

I know people say we are only targeting Zimbabweans, but the Basotho permit is expiring at the end of December 2023.

The Zimbabwean permits expired in December 2021. This is because they were issued at different times.

Zim Kicked Out Of AFCON U20

Zimbabwe will not be involved in the Afcon U20 tournament after the country was dropped from the regional qualifiers.

The Young Warriors will miss this year’s edition of the U20 Cosafa Youth Championship to be staged in Eswatini from October 6-16 2022.

The competition will act as the regional qualifying tournament for continental showpiece.

Zimbabwe are not taking part in the games after FIFA banned them from all international football due to the government interfering in the running of the game.

Zimbabwe were also barred from participating in the Afcon 2023, 2022 Cosafa Cup, CHAN 2022, COSAFA Women’s Champions League Qualifier.

The absence absence in these international tournaments has affected football development in the country.

And the country’s sports regulatory body Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has cast a deaf ear to the pleas from football stakeholders to have the FIFA suspension lifted, saying it is not a priority.

Football stakeholders have for the past months been pleading with the authorities to find each other for the future of the game.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Former DeMbare Captain Falls On Hard Times

Former Dynamos captain Nyasha Chazika has opened up on the hard times he has fallen on, saying he is depressed because those he used to take care of have neglected and now treat him like trash.

Chazika rose to fame in the blue half of the capital during the era of Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga’s ‘Kidznet’ side in the early 2000, named after Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC)’s flagship children unit.

Chunga’s side was characterised by a group of very young but incredibly talented footballers including the likes of Chazika, Leo Kurauzvione, Norman Maroto, Eddie Mashiri, Ellliot Matsika, Cephas Chimedza, only to mention a few.

Chazika, who captained the Harare giants at just 18 years of age, now abuses drugs after falling on hard times, an adversity he blames on other people casting a blind eye on him.

“My relatives, some of whom I used to pay school fees and buy uniform for, have abandoned me and that really hurts me,” said a teary Chazika.

“I didn’t used to take drugs but people neglected me, and now treat me like trash.

‘I’m trying to come out of this situation on my own. But I have friends who have made it in life, some of whom even owe me money but they don’t help.

“It really pains me, because I cannot struggle whilst those people are there. I have however accepted my situation and left everything in God’s hands,” added Chazika.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

All roads lead to Shoko Festival 2022 : Zim’s biggest urban culture extravaganza

HARARE – Shoko Festival, the country’s biggest urban culture jubilee, is set to kick off from 27th of 27th of September to the 1st of October.

This year’s Shoko Festival will headline with the theme PARTYcipate, featuring a variety of renowned local artistes such as Zimdancehall prodigy Freeman, Hip-hop sensation Voltz JT, and hip-hop queen Kikky Badass.

PARTYcipate is a clarion call to encourage young people to participate in public processes, including elections that shape their future.

The festive hub, which is capitalizing on the current relaxation of Covid-19 regulations, will adopt a hybrid format in which most of its events will be physical and some will be online to accommodate those who will be unable to attend physically.

The main festivities will take place at Moto Republik, with alternating events being hosted at venues spread across Harare and Chitungwiza.

Cde Fatso

Shoko Festival director, Samm Farai Monro affectionately known by his moniker Cde Fatso said that this year’s edition aimed to bring to the spotlight local artists who had been marginalized by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This year at Shoko we want to celebrate our amazing local acts. We want to show that
local is legit.

“During the two years of lockdowns and Covid-19 pandemic, our Zimbabwean artists were the
ones who kept us entertained and motivated while we were stuck at home.

“At the same time the local arts sector suffered massively due to a lack of live shows with venues being closed,” said Cde Fatso.

Trap Sungura pioneer Tanto Wavie, Brian Jeck from Chegutu, and Bulawayo-based rapper Luminous are among the local artists who will headline the Proudly Zimbabwean urban culture edition.

Events lined up for this year also include: the Voice 2 Rep Watch Party, the exhilarating Women’s Cypher, Mash Up Night, and the comedy Roast of Temba Mliswa.

Spanish Giants Fall In Germany

Barcelona suffered a 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in their second Group C Champions League match.

Barca were the better team for most of the night and should have gotten a lot more from the game.

Lucas Hernández opened the scoring against a run of play in the 50th minute before Leroy Sané ran through the entire Barca defense and passed the ball into the net four minutes later.

The visitors tried to recover but were made to rue all the better opportunities they missed in the first half.

Another Spanish giant Atletico Madrid also suffered a defeat in Germany after losing to 2-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in Group B.

The teams were tied at goalless until the 84th minute when Bayer scored twice to win the match in the final stretch.

Robert Andrich got the opener before Moussa Diaby sealed the victory three minutes later.

The other major talking point of the game was a handball in the box by Edmond Tapsoba, which was not given by the referee on review.

Club Brugge pulled off a shock 4-0 win at FC Porto to win a second successive Champions League Group B game and go top of the standings.

Liverpool left it late to beat Ajax 2-1 in their Champions League Group A match.

The Reds took the lead through Mohamed Salah in the 17th minute but Mohammed Kudus cancelled out the opener ten minutes later.

As the match was seemingly heading for a draw, Joel Matip rose to head home with a minute remaining on the clock.

Diogo Jota was lively up front in his first start of the season, while Thiago helped the team rediscover a little of the rhythm that has been missing in the recent games.

However, the right flank was, again, the Reds’ weekest defensive link with Kudus’ equaliser coming from that side.

Tottenham lost 2-0 to Sporting, Eintracht Frankfurt beat Marseille 1-0 and Inter won at Viktoria Plzen 2-0.

Tuesday Results
Bayern 2-0 Barcelona
Marseille 0-1 Frankfurt
Liverpool 2-1 Ajax
Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Atletico Madrid
Porto 0-4 Club Brugge
Viktoria Plzen 0-2 Inter
Sporting CP 2-0 Tottenham- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Speaking on Star FM radio late last year, mai Titi said she would rather jump from one relationship to another than force herself in a marriage.

“If I get dumped today, the following week I’ll be with someone else. I move on fast like WiFI, I don’t like problems in my life,” she said.

Now it appears Mai Titi is failing to move on despite announcing that she has seperated from Maphosa.

She recently shocked many when she appeared in a video burning her wedding gown saying she did not want it to be used by anyone else as it had curses of her broken union with Tinashe Maphosa.

Many people said the move showed that she was heartbroken and still nursing emotions of the marriage break-up.

Mai Titi invested lots of money running into tens of thousands on wedding preparations including inviting South African diva Kelly Khumalo and this could be the reason why she is finding it hard to move on, many people believe.

While Mai Titi made the world believe that she no-longer has emotions to invest in a relationship, it is Stunner’s ex wife Dionne Tafirenyika and DJ Fantan’s Gamuchirai Nemukuyu who have may have stolen the Wi-Fi modem or should we say Wi-Fi network from the controversial comedienne.

Stunner’s ex-wife and Nemukuyu did not last a year or even six months after breaking up from their husbands and could well fit into Mai Titi’s Wi-Fi like character.

Instead of living up to her promise of quickly moving on, Mai Titi appears on a mission to finish off Maphosa’s short lived fame by continuously dragging and bringing out new and juicy details of her time with the now ex-husband.

What Is Suicide Attempt ?

An estimated 703,000 people a year take their life around the world.
For every suicide, there are likely 20 other people making a suicide attempt and many more have serious thoughts of suicide.

We can all play a role in supporting those experiencing a suicidal crisis or those bereaved by suicide.

We can all encourage understanding about the issue, Let’s create hope through action.- World Health Organization

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on 10 September every year as we raise awareness of suicide and promote preventative measures to reduce the number of suicides and suicide attempts.

Check some of these reminders of how we can offer help:

Reach In: Give Hope to Someone by Showing that you care. We all can reach in and ask somebody. Small talk can save lives and create a sense of connection and hope in somebody who may be struggling.

Encourage Understanding: Promote hope to create a more compassionate society. Recognize the reality of suicide and do something to prevent it so that more people will feel more comfortable in coming forward to seek help.

Share Experiences: The insights and stories of people with a lived experience of suicide can be extremely powerful in helping others understand suicide better and encourage people to reach in to support someone, and for individuals to reach out for help themselves.

Police Arrest Marry Chiwenga’s Brother

South African police have arrested Marry Mubaiwa’s brother, Sam, on allegations of running a vehicle theft and human trafficking cartel in Pretoria.

Sam, the brother to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s embattled ex-wife, was arrested over the weekend, after police were tipped off of suspicious activities at a certain house within an estate.

His residence was raided, and police found unregistered vehicles and more than 20 number plates.

Sam was accused of using his credentials to breach security systems.

Police also found children’s textbooks, cricket trophies and several files in the apartment suspected to be a storage house.

Sam has since appeared in a Pretoria magistrates’ court, which granted his further detention by police, who feel the Zimbabwean could be the link to a number of criminal activities, including human trafficking and rape.

The court also heard that Sam was on an outstanding warrant of arrest in Zimbabwe, and a copy of the document will be tendered, for the record.

He has been denied bail and will return to court soon.-iharare.com

South Africa Threatens Zimbabweans Who Do Not Apply For Permits

Expired Zimbabwean exemption permit (ZEP) holders who do not apply to be in SA legally must be prepared to face the consequences.

Home affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi gave this warning on Tuesday when he appeared in parliament to provide an update on the ZEP process under way.

“The ball is in their court, not in the government’s court. We will deal with them the same way we deal with someone who is in the country illegally and overstayed. There is punishment for that,” he said.

Because the matter is before the court, Motsoaledi said he could not give MPs a detailed update.

He said he issued a directive in December 2021 to inform the public he had decided to extend the exemptions granted to Zimbabwean nationals for 12 months to allow holders to apply for one of the visas provided for in the Immigration Act.

Motsoaledi said the 178,000 people who hold a ZEP were on a special dispensation and were not part of the usual immigration processes.

“We believed it was time we stop something we regarded as temporary so we gave people a year to apply for the other permits.”

On January 7, Motsoaledi said to legalise the directive, he gazetted it and on the same day the department issued a press statement meant to explain to the public, the media and the exemption holders what government was doing and the reasons behind the decision.

Realising the mammoth task ahead, Motsoaledi said he appointed former presidency director-general Dr Caisus Lubisi to work with data analysts, former Scorpions and state capture inquiry investigators to produce a report.

“There are two applications we are expecting from Zimbabweans, namely the visa in terms of the Immigration Act and an application for a waiver where an applicant may say these are their circumstances and they ask for a waiver from what government has directed them to do.

“We realised that work needed experts because it is a special dispensation, so I appointed a team of six, including three officials who were dealing with the reviewing of permits and three senior councils from the private sector.

“They have had several meetings to outline how the work is going to be done so there is common understanding and they follow similar standards when they start working.”

Motsoaledi said on September 1 the team wrote to him to inform him they had developed a plan on how the work was going to be carried out and that they received 4,000 visa applications and 6,000 for the waiver.

“Looking at what is still coming and the amount of work, they advised me it would be better to give an extension of six months until June 30 2023 because there is no way they will be finished by December 2022.

“I acceded to that advice immediately the following day and issued the directive issued on September 2. This directive is exactly the same as the one I issued on December 29 2021. I had to issue it again so there is no legal confusion.”

On the legal issues facing the department, Motsoaledi told MPs organisations and forums representing ZEP holders had taken the department to court regarding the permits.

“The court case has to do with the directive I issued on December 29 2021. The first is the African Amity and Zimbabwean Permit Holders Association. Then we have the Zimbabwean Diaspora Association NPC, the Helen Suzman Foundation and the Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in SA as an intervening party. We also have the Zimbabwe Immigration Federation.”

He said the court case is to be heard in October.

“We are not running away from the court case. We have written to the Pretoria high court in view of this extension. Certain papers have been required from us, new affidavits need to be written and we believe the dates that have been agreed will no longer be possible.”

He said government was not targeting Zimbabweans.

“I know people say we are only targeting Zimbabweans, but the Basotho permit is expiring at the end of December 2023. The Zimbabwean permits expired in December 2021. This is because they were issued at different times.”

Zanu PF, CCC Fight Over Flea Market Space At Mupedzanhamo

Violence flared up between Zanu-PF and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) youths in Harare yesterday morning as they fiercely fought for control of flea market spaces in Mbare’s Mupedzanhamo area.

Tension has been simmering between CCC and Zanu-PF youths over control of the markets currently being controlled by ruling party activists, who are reportedly preying on hawkers who pay them varying fees to operate in the area.

When NewsDay arrived at the scene, some vending stalls and vehicles had been damaged, while shops around the area were forced to close.

Anti-riot police had to fire teargas to stop the clashes involving stone-throwing and hand-to-hand tussles.

But the skirmishes later resumed in the afternoon, prompting police to again heavily deploy in the area.

Mayor Jacob Mafume condemned the fights .

“As city council, we have always maintained that we need to deal with the situation in Mbare, the area needs to be renewed and have order,” he said.

“We cannot continue with the Wild West mentality that is in Mbare. People are being victimised, spaces being taken and it is difficult to provide services to Mbare.

“We need a solution to the issues of Mbare, which includes all stakeholders to come up with an infrastructure, social and economic plan that serves the interest of the residents.

“We condemn violence by space barons and the attacks that are happening there. We need peace to prevail.”

Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation director Samuel Wadzai also spoke on the skirmishes.

Zanu PF Thugs & CCC Youths In Fierce Fight Over Mupedzanhamo

By- A fierce fight broke out Tuesday between Zanu PF thugs and the opposition CCC youths over the control of Mbare’s Mupedzanhamo market.

Anti-riot police had to fire teargas to stop clashes.

The fight resulted in the damage of some vending stalls and vehicles and the closure of shops.

The market spaces are controlled by space barons linked to Zanu PF, who demand fees from vendors to allow them to operate in the area.

Harare mayor Jacob Mafume condemned the violence saying there is a need to find solutions to challenges facing Mbare residents. Said Mafume:

As city council, we have always maintained that we need to deal with the situation in Mbare, the area needs to be renewed and have order.

We cannot continue with the Wild West mentality that is in Mbare. People are being victimised, spaces are being taken and it is difficult to provide services to Mbare.

We need a solution to the issues of Mbare, which includes all stakeholders to come up with infrastructure, and social and economic plan that serves the interest of the residents.

We condemn violence by space barons and the attacks that are happening there. We need peace to prevail.

Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation director Samuel Wadzai said tension had been building up over the past two weeks. He said:

There are space barons who are politically connected, people who claim to own spaces, especially Zanu PF. They will be removing people claiming that they own certain spaces.

So today, they wanted to remove people from those spaces that they own, that is how the fight started. This tension has been growing for almost two weeks or so.

Zanu PF information director Tafadzwa Mugwadi accused CCC activists of inciting the violence while CCC deputy spokesperson Gift Siziba said he was yet to find out what had happened. | NewsDay

CBZ RAID: Armed Robbery or Inside Job?

5 armed robbers yesterday pounced on CBZ Bank’s Fife Street branch in Bulawayo and got away with US$70 000 amid concerns over an increase in armed robberies countrywide.
The raid, which occurred around midday, comes a month after armed robbers raided a Mukuru branch in the city centre and got away with more than US$100 000.

By Monday, 412 guns had been surrendered to the police.-Chronicle

Registrar’s Office Frustrates Residents In Need Of IDs

By Susan Moyo and Murisi Baukwa

Scores of citizens were turned away at Mucheke Hall by the office of the Registrar General because the government department has no backup generator.

Masvingo City is experiencing long hours of load shedding.

The Zanu PF government has failed to provide consistent electricity supply to Masvingo since July 2022.

The Registrar General office birth certificate and national Identity cards blitz, scheduled to run from 08/09/22 to 14/09/22 at Mucheke Hall, has been greatly affected by government’s failure to provide a backup generator.

The civil servants at Registrar General office’s working at Mucheke Hall are spending long hours idle. The Blitz had budgeted 7 days for Mucheke Hall but it seems less than three days were effective working days. The government is shortchanging citizens.

“Do you think the government was going to fail to provide a generator in Mwenezi? Zanu PF does not want Urban voters. This is a well crafted voter suppression strategy.

This is a well coordinated strategy which involves Zesa, RG office, CIO and ZanuPF.This is daylight election rigging.” Evans Chamisa said at Mucheke Hall.

“I have been here since morning but magetsi aende kare kare.I will be here tomorrow again.I want the ID so that I register to vote for change. They might frustrate me but this is the only way to end this oppressive system. My vote will change Zimbabwe. All youths let us be determined to register. We must vote in our millions because a huge margin is difficult to rig.” Samson Shumba said .

We can all encourage understanding about the issue, Let’s create hope through action.- World Health Organization

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on 10 September every year as we raise awareness of suicide and promote preventative measures to reduce the number of suicides and suicide attempts.

Nation Mourns Mai Sorobhi

Veteran actress Mai Sorobhi has died.

She was 79.

The late actress’s grandchild and comedian Admire “Bhutisi” Kuzhangaira confirmed the death saying Mai Sorobhi succumbed to stroke Monday morning.

Born Rhoda Mtembe, Mai Sorobhi rose to fame in the early 1990s in the drama series Paraffin that made her a household name.

“My grandmother Mai Sorobhi is no more. She was struck twice. As she was recovering, she was attacked again last week,” Bhutisi said.

Before venturing into acting, Mai Sorobhi worked for City of Harare as a health promoter at a clinic in Glen View. She then started acting in dramas that focused on child abuse, HIV and Aids.

Mourners are gathered in Kuwadzana Extension.- NewsDay

Mai TT Faces Arrest

By-People and corporates which rendered socialite and comedian “Mai Titi” services and cash for her wedding are now planning to sue her for failing to settle her debts.

Mai Titi had a flamboyant wedding with her US-based boyfriend Tinashe Maphosa where she splashed up to US$100 000 back in April.

So extravagant was the wedding ceremony that Mai Titi invited South African songbird, Kelly Khumalo to serenade guests.

However, it later turned out that she did not fork the whole amount from her own pocket.

Mnangagwa Aides Solicite For UN Invites

By- The government said some civil servants were soliciting United Nations agencies for invitations to attend meetings in New York.

In an internal memorandum seen by Pindula News, Agriculture Permanent Secretary John Bhasera condemned the conduct, which he described as “undiplomatic”.

Basera said the United Nations recently expressed concern over the development. Reads the memo addressed to all directors and department heads:

CONCERN OVER THE CONDUCT OF ZIMBABWE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS TRAVELLING TO NEW YORK

The matter above refers.

The United Nations Secretariat has complained to our Mission in New York over the conduct of some Government Officials who directly contact the Secretariat soliciting to attend UN meetings.

The practice is unprocedural and undiplomatic and, therefore, Government Officials are hereby directed to desist from such behaviour.

It is also of concern that there are other scenarios where delegates travelling to New York for UN sessions end up attending the sessions virtually or travel to the sessions out of time, and attend closing sessions

This is unnecessary wastage of resources.

In line with the pronouncement by his Excellency the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) on the need to apply prudence when undertaking foreign trips, officials in the ministry are called upon to take note of the observations above in order not to bring the country’s name into disrepute.

Model UN conferences are considered opportunities to practice research, public speaking, teamwork, negotiation, and writing skills in a safe and structured environment. There can also be monetary benefits.

Odinga Snubs Ruto’s Inauguration

By James Gwati- Kenya’s veteran opposition leader, Raila Odinga, has snubbed the inauguration of his rival William Ruto.

Ruto was last week declared the winner by Kenya’s Supreme court after losing a bid contesting the outcome of the August 9, 2022, election.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms, Odinga said he does not recognise Ruto as the President of Kenya.

Below is the statement:

RE: INVITATION TO HE. WILLIAM RUTO’S INAUGURATION
This evening, I received a letter and a telephone call from H.E Dr. William
Ruto inviting me to his inauguration set for tomorrow, September 13, 2022
I regret however that I will not be available for the inauguration because I am
out of the country and I also have other serious concerns.
First, I believe that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission,
the body in charge of our elections, did not conduct a free and fair election.
Secondly, I believe that the ruling of the Supreme Court was not based on the
facts and the law, even though we accepted it.
For these reasons, the outcome of the election remains indeterminate.
Once I return to the country, I will, jointly with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya
Coalition Party leaders, announce our next steps as we seek to deepen and
strengthen our democracy.
We can only do so if we reform and transform the key institutions that are
charged with protecting and advancing our democracy.
In the meantime, I applaud and thank our supporters and Kenyans who came
out in large numbers to vote for us on August 9, 2022.

Kutama College In Flames

By- Zvimba’s Kutama College has caught fire.

The college, which produced prominent leaders, including former President Robert Mugabe, went in flames Monday morning.

According to the state, media reports, the fire started in the television room around 2 am.

The state-run publication further reports that two Form 3 learners at the school, Takudzwa Machuwe and Kapfumvute Mwamba, rescued 185 learners after their hostel caught fire.

The duo is said to have initially tried and failed to extinguish the fire before they quickly sought the support of others.

Another Form 3 learner was sent to the headmaster’s residence to alert him of the disaster at the school, while Takudzwa and Kapfumvute began the rescue mission.

In separate interviews with the state media on Monday, Takudzwa and Kapfumvute said they evacuated all the Form 2s unhurt, but could not retrieve any of the learners’ belongings. Said Takudzwa:

I was awakened by some of the Form 2 students around 2am telling me of a fire that was in the television room.

We tried to put out the fire, but failed. One of the captains that we share the responsibility of taking care of these students with, rushed to alert the headmaster at his residence.

Kapfumvute said they had a hard time stopping learners from trying to get back into the hostel to collect their smartphones and laptops.

A fire tender from Norton Town council responded to the call but did little to save the situation.

By yesterday afternoon, most of the students had been taken home by their parents and guardians to recover from the shock of almost losing lives.

The school was constructed in 1914 and is a stone’s throw away from the homestead of the late former president, Robert Mugabe.

Lewandowski Faces Bayern In Champions League Clash

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski returns to face his former club Bayern Munich when the two giants meet in a potentially-explosive UEFA Champions League Group C clash at the Allienz Arena tonight.

The Poland international moved to the Catalan club for a £42.5 million before the start of the 2022/23 season after spending eight years in Munich, where he scored 344 goals in all competitions.

Lewandowski netted 13 goals for Bayern in Europe’s premier club competition last season, as Julian Nagelsmann’s men were eliminated by Villarreal in the quarter-finals.

He has had an impressive start to life at Barcelona under Xavi, scoring six goals in five LaLiga matches.

Bayern have won their last 11 Champions League games against Barcelona but today’s encounter is a totally different ballgame, as Xavi’s men are firing from all cylinders.

Scores Turned Away From National Identity Registration Exercise

Efforts to get a comment from the Registrar General’s office were fruitless.

“Both patients were immediately examined by our doctors. They sustained minor injuries and got appropriate treatment. The patients were eventually discharged home following completion of their initial observations,” the hospital said.

The state of Zimbabwe hospitals has come under serious scrutiny amid concerns of neglect and under funding by the government.

Hundreds Flood Streets To Demand Sikhala Release

Tinashe Sambiri|Hundreds of CCC members flooded the streets of Windhoek, Namibia to protest at the prolonged detention of Hon Job Sikhala, Hon Godfrey Karakadzai Sithole and Nyatsime activists.

CCC Namibia Namibia says change champions in that country will continue to push for the release of party members.

Read statement below:

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia Windhoek Branch flooded the streets demanding the immediate release of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala & others.

13 September 2022

Saturday was an extremely busy day in Windhoek, Namibia as change champions who subscribe to the yellow revolution flooded the streets demanding the immediate and unconditional release of prisoners of conscience Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Godfrey Sithole, the Nyatsime 14 and Stephen Ndundu in Mutawatawa.

Our leaders were arrested on concocted charges on June 14 2022 to date. The cobra-headed protesters took to the streets because they suspect law fare since our change champions were denied bail on multiple occasions without justification from the compromised courts.

The Rundu branch is greatly inspired by the revolutionary gesture of change seekers who exhibited their valor and mettle to demonstrate against the perpetual incarceration of our fellow compatriots at the hell-hole of Chikurubi Maximum Prison for speaking truth to power. Residents of Windhoek believe that everyone is equal before the supreme law of the country. Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala and all political prisoners have the right to bail but ZANU-PF’s capture of the judiciary is quite astounding. Citizens in Namibia are clamoring for an abrupt end to this stinking selective application of the law.

What perturbs social democrats in Namibia is that those who loot state resources and incite public violence such as Abton Mashayanyika are walking scot-free when our fellow change champions are languishing in prison cells on trumped-up charges aimed at putting them on mute ahead of 2023.

We have seen all corrupt and violent ZANU-PF leaders getting bail before they even appear in court. Citizens in Namibia stress that the executive should not interfere with the judiciary. Protesters were advocating for an independent court system not forgetting all-state institutions.

Despite efforts to win our diaspora vote which is a non-negotiable right, we shall remain determined to encourage our people in Namibia and across the globe to go and register to vote for a complete change in 2023. Citizens are exhausted of selling cockroach poison, brooms, mops, and others goodies in the streets of Namibia hence the dire need to be a registered voters for the change that delivers.

The District Interim Spokesperson, Tapiwa Tapshinda Mugore invited SADC, African Union(AU), and the United Nations(UN) to aid us to establish independent state institutions such as the judiciary and ZEC which are exploited by the politically inept regime to rig the people’s vote.

Interim Chairperson Elisha Chambara made it clear that voting is part of independence therefore all right-thinking and progressive Zimbabweans in Namibia should gear up for a robust registration campaign toward the 6 million votes target. The message was conveyed:register to vote, vote for change, and be ready to defend the vote from the election fraudsters in ZANU-PF who continue to suppress the voice of the people using violence, torture, arbitrary arrests, long pre-trial detentions, manipulation of the courts and intimidation in the countryside. This must be resisted with equal measure.

Demonstrators intended to mount political and diplomatic pressure on SADC, AU, and UN so that they could pay attention to the untold suffering of our people in Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Swaziland, Botswana, and overseas. The protesters called for the respect of the constitution and constitutionalism in Zimbabwe. The citizens appealed to regional and international organizations to cheap in and assist us to help ourselves out of this artificial quandary emanating from the incompetence of the ZANU-PF regime.

Let’s all go and register to vote because our vote is our voice. We should go to Zimbabwe in our astronomical numbers so that we can amplify our voices against senseless and bare-faced corruption. ZEC’s independence was also one of the protesters’ concerns on Saturday, there is a need to have guaranteed elections that are free, fair, credible, and unfettered in the motherland. A country has more than 95% literacy rate but there are astonishing numbers of assisted voters including nurses, teachers, and students in successive elections. Election observers should cover all rural areas where people are frog-marched to vote for ZANU-PF against their will.

More Zimbos Deported From UK

By A Correspondent- The United Kingdom (UK) last week Thursday deported another batch of nine (9) Zimbabweans barely a year after the arrival of another group of 50 was deported.

An agreement was signed in June last year between Zimbabwe and the UK, in which the former pledged to properly treat deportees on their return, The Herald reports.

The UK Borders Act allows the British government to deport any foreigner who has received a jail term of at least 12 months unless some is exception applies.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Mr Livit Magejo confirmed the arrival of the latest batch. He told the Herald:

e received nine more deportees and they have since reunited with their families.

Some of the individuals who had been earmarked for deportation raised objections with the courts and were allowed to appeal.

Some allegedly contracted COVID-19 in some detention centres and resultantly could not be deported at that time

“I Have Lost Credibility With Clients Over ZPC Deal”: Chivhayo

By A Correspondent- Businessman and socialite, Wicknell Chivayo, has told the High Court that his arrest on allegations of defrauding the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) had tarnished his integrity to an extent that it was now difficult to get any lucrative contracts.

He was testifying in a case where he is suing ZPC for US$22 million for defamation, and for breaching the solar project deal, which he argues was still valid.

Chivayo said his company, Intratrek Zimbabwe, has lost considerable business, locally and abroad, owing to the ZPC scandal.

He said he has lost credibility with potential clients. NewZimbabwe.comcites Chivayo, an ex-convict, as saying:

I can no longer do any projects due to the bad publicity l have received due to the ZPC deal.

I have lost potential business in Kenya and Tanzania. l had gone there to do business and l was told l was the person who took money from ZPC and ran away.

We visited the site together, they came back and did a report so it does not make any sense that l failed to deliver on the promises agreed on.

They have been malicious and circulating falsehoods

He further insisted that ZPC was owing Intratrek huge amounts of money from a deal they penned seven years ago.

Chivayo denies the allegations by ZPC that he took money meant for the Gwanda solar project which he reportedly failed to implement.

He says he should be given a chance to complete the project for the benefit of the country.

The trial continues Tuesday.

Context:

ZPC paid $5.6 million to Intratrek Zimbabwe, in which Chivayo is a director, for pre-commencement works in the construction of a $200 million solar power plant in Gwanda. Chivayo failed to deliver.

The case spilt into court and in 2019 the High Court prohibited ZPC from cancelling the contract and suing to recover the money paid to Chivayo’s company. The ruling left ZPC with the onus of paying him $25 million for breach of contract or allowing his company to proceed with the project.

The Supreme Court overturned the ruling.

Wicknell Chivayo Sues ZESA, Says Lost Business Abroad

CONTROVERSIAL businessman and socialite, Wicknell Chivayo, has told the High Court that his arrest on allegations of defrauding the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) had tarnished his integrity to an extent that it was now difficult to get any lucrative contracts.

“I can no longer do any projects due to the bad publicity l have received due to the ZPC deal,” he said.

He further insisted that ZPC was owing Intratrek huge amounts of money from a deal they penned seven years ago.

ZPC, prior to being sued, laid charges of fraud against Chivayo, accusing him of taking money meant for the Gwanda solar project which he reportedly failed to implement.

Chivayo, however, denies the allegations.

“We visited the site together, they came back and did a report so it does not make any sense that l failed to deliver on the promises agreed on.

“They have been malicious and circulating falsehoods,” Chivhayo said.

The formerly flamboyant businessman said given the chance he wants to complete the project for the benefit of the country.

The trial continues Tuesday.

LEAD President Linda Masarira Fumes Over UZ Fees Hike

Tuesday, 13 Sep 2022 07:39 am

Statement on price hikes

We demand a review on the tertiary institution fees that were recently reviewed.

The recent sky rocketing UZ tertiary education fees do not make sense and is grossly unfair.

The recently pegged fees are unreasonably too high and in addition three quaters of the students at this institution ‘s parents are civil servants who receive peanuts as salaries and will not be able to pay these absurd UZ fees.

There must be a balance between the cost of living of the majority and these ridiculous tertiary fees.

We hereby demand that the government review the school fees taking into consideration the above mentioned facts.

These state institutions are termed Public Schools which means they must be charging minimum fees in respect to the costs of living of the people not end up competing with private schools.

The Minister of Tertiary Education should address this issue as soon as possible because this will result in a lot of dropouts, which will be a loss of intellectual capacity for the country.

Mnangagwa Attends “Discredited” Ruto’s Inauguration

By- Zanu PF President Emerson Mnangagwa is in Kenya for the swearing-in of William Ruto as the fifth President of Kenya.

Ruto is taking an oath of office today.

Mnangagwa is in Kenya with Foreign Affairs Minister Frederick Shava and his spokesperson George Charamba.

Kenya has declared a public holiday to allow the nation to witness Ruto’s swearing-in.

Ruto was declared the winner by the Supreme court last week.

That was after ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga challenged his 50.49 percent Presidential vote victory.

Mnangagwa Fires Aide Over Violence

By- Zanu PF has reportedly suspended Buhera district co-ordinating committee (DCC) chairperson Cosmore Chimombe over intra-party violence that erupted in the district two weeks ago.

According to NewsDay the violence was recorded during the party’s district restructuring exercise to establish party cell structures in Chimombe East, Chimvuri and Chiremwa.

The party’s national political commissar Mike Bimha had assigned Mashonaland East provincial members to restructure the three districts of Buhera.

However, violence flared and the provincial members were forced to flee for their lives. A report to Bimha seen

Reads the report:

After you (Bimha) assigned us on a restructuring exercise, we failed to complete the assignment since the party leadership of the area did not accommodate us. Instead, they instigated violence.

The leader present was DCC chairperson Chimombe among others. As we arrived there were more than 30 people at the party offices. Unfortunately, the co-ordinator on the day had not yet arrived. He later arrived with one Mutero and proceeded without even greeting us, although he noticed that we were visitors.

When we wanted to address the meeting, unfortunately no one wanted to listen to us and they started to sing. The mob became more violent, threatening to beat us since it was in possession of weapons.

We expected the chairman to control the mob but instead, violent threats increased. We managed to escape through the window with the mob in hot pursuit.

Insiders in the ruling party yesterday said Chimombe has since been suspended over the violence.

Both Chimombe and the party’s provincial chairman Mike Madiro refused to comment on the matter.

Zuma Takes On Ramaphosa In ANC Presidential Contest

By-South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa will face the wife of former President Jacob Zuma, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, in the December African National Congress Presidential contest.

A few weeks ago, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma’s youngest daughter, Thuthukile Zuma, started posting social media posters of her mother’s bid for the ANC’s top job, according to the Daily Maverick

The posters announced Dlamini Zuma’s campaign ahead of its confirmation in the Sunday Times on 11 September. In 2017, Dlamini Zuma was narrowly beaten to the position of ANC president by just 179 votes by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Dlamini Zuma confirmed to the Sunday Times, via her spokesperson Lungi Mtshali, that she has been nominated for the position by ANC branches and is available to accept. That means it is game on in the ANC race for the presidency in December as the nomination window opened this week.

It is unknown whether Dlamini Zuma will run as the RET-faction candidate or whether she will put distance between it and her agenda, which is to fight on a “Womandla” or woman’s ticket.

For more than 100 years, the ANC has never had a female leader, and the lobby to accelerate women’s leadership is growing. But the RET faction does not have a credible leader to run against Ramaphosa in December and may put its weight behind her.

Analysts believe that Ramaphosa has been weakened by the 2020 Phala Phala theft of game sale funds from a sofa they had been sewn into at his farm. It now turns out that the cash was hidden at the farm for much longer than the single weekend Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya first claimed in June.

Dlamini Zuma is popular in the ANC but not outside it especially considering her strong hand approach to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

UZ Fees Demo Huge Success As Authorities Announce Revision Plan

The University of Zimbabwe is revising the recently announced hike in tuition fees of up to $500 000, described by many students as unaffordable and beyond the reach of their parents and guardians.

At the same time student leaders want to have the matter dealt with in negotiations between the administration and the students, without interference by those with a political agenda.

Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo said the university was seized with that matter and urged students to remain calm as the administration is seeking to reach a common ground with the student representative body and other key stakeholders.

In an interview with The Herald, Professor Mapfumo yesterday said the university registrar had two closed door meetings with the Student Representative Council and they were looking forward to having another round of discussions today.

“We are engaging key stakeholders including the Student’s Representative Council. It is feedback that we value. The registrar had two meetings today and we are expecting to have a round up meeting tomorrow,” Professor Mapfumo said.

SRC president Allan Chipoyi yesterday urged students who had gathered to protest to leave room for a dialogue.

Yesterday, hundreds of University of Zimbabwe students briefly held a procession over the fees hike and some raised concern over some rogue elements within the opposition who want to use the recent fees hike for cheap politicking.

“We are appealing to the university Vice Chancellor to reconsider their first position.

“The current tuition fee is not in tandem with the prevailing economic conditions.

“However, we are very much concerned with some politicians who want to hijack the school fees issues. We don’t want any interference. More often than not our genuine concerns end up being rendered useless because of too much politicisation,” Dean Mushawatu, a tourism student said.

Another student, Simbarashe Mukoyi, said the increase was reasonable as it is meant to uphold the quality of the education, but called upon the Government to subsidise fees to cushion students against high inflation.

“Yes it was imminent due to rising costs, We were expecting a slight increase and the rest to be subsidised considering the current economic conditions. We sincerely seek Government intervention in this regard, otherwise the tertiary dropouts will be higher than never experienced before.”

Another student who preferred to be identified as Mutsa, a journalism student, said many students might fail to achieve their goals if the fees issue remained unresolved.

“We are scared that we won’t have the chance of fulfilling our dreams of graduating because our parents won’t afford to keep paying the fees. If tertiary fees keep rising like this then who will go to university?”

Another girl who requested anonymity said she was even afraid to tell her mother who is struggling to raise her accommodation fee.

“My mom is a single mother. I did not even inform her about the new development.

“I am just hoping that the university will review downwards so that it becomes affordable,” she said.

The Zimbabwe Congress of Student Union UZ chapter also issued a statement encouraging students to shun calls being made by individuals who are pushing their own agenda.

“We encourage students to remain calm as the union is working tirelessly negotiating and engaging relevant offices for fees review. Students should not be involved in demonstrations which are being influenced by opposition leadership and individuals pushing their agenda.”

According to the new fee structure, undergraduate students are required to pay anything between $300 000 to $500 000 depending on their faculty.

Students pursuing a Master’s degree will have to fork out up to $700 000 also depending on their faculty and students are expected to pay the fees by September 30. Herald

Ndiraya Refuses To Throw In Towel

Tonderai Ndiraya is not giving up on the Castle Lager Premiership title race after his Dynamos side dropped points against Black Rhinos on Sunday.

The second-placed Glamour Boys were held to a 1-1 draw and fell eight points behind leaders FC Platinum, who beat WhaWha 2-0.

DeMbare got off to the perfect start in the game when Ghanian forward Emmanuel Paga thrust them ahead inside the first minute.

However, goalkeeper Taimon Mvula failed to deal with Farai Banda’s cross and fumbled the ball into his own nets in the final moments of the game.

Speaking to the reporters after the game, a defiant Ndiraya insisted that the title race is still on.

“The race is still on as there are still 21 points to play for,” the gaffer said. “We will take each game as it comes.”

Ndiraya added: “We dominated in the first half but were not that good in the second half. Rhinos added more attackers in the second half and it affected us.

CCC Condemns Zanu PF Banditry

Tinashe Sambiri| Zanu PF hooligans attempted to assassinate CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa in Chinhoyi on Sunday.

Suspected Zanu PF agents threw a petrol bomb at President Chamisa’s motorcade as the CCC leader entered Gadzema grounds.

In a statement on Sunday, CCC condemned Zanu PF banditry…

Zanu Pf thugs threw a bomb at our Change Champion in Chief’s motorcade in Chinhoyi.

We have noted with great concern yet another assassination attempt on the life of our Change Champion in Chief, Advocate Nelson Chamisa after suspected members of Zanu PF driving a silver Honda Fit threw a missile at our Change Champion in Chief’s motorcade as he was was about to enter Gadzema grounds in Chinhoyi.

Our Change Champion in Chief was set to thank the citizens of Chinhoyi who overwhelmingly voted for the Yellow movement before the criminal activity by Zanu PF took place.

The thugs, driving a sliver Honda Fit threw a bomb that exploded in front of our Change Champion in Chief’s motorcade before they sped off.

This lawlessness which have been allowed to go unchecked by the regime in Harare was also meant to instill fear and panic among the citizens who had gathered to hear the message of hope & transformation from their change champion in chief.

This comes barely a month after two similar incidents which threatened the life of our change champion in chief took place in Wedza and Gokwe, Kabuyuni respectively.

We condemn this criminal behavior in its entirety and urge the law enforcement agency to take action and bring the culprits to book.

We want to put it on record that Zanu PF’s desperate behavior will not deter us from winning Zimbabwe for change. We will continue to fight and demand electoral reforms as we approach the 2023 elections.

We urge the citizens of Zimbabwe to remain focused and vigilant, and more importantly register to vote.- CCC

Zanu PF Boss Suspended Over Violence

Ramaphosa Faces Tough Presidential Contest
