By Municipal Reporter- The government has seized control of key operations and services from the Harare City Council, including waste management, public transport, and road rehabilitation, in preparation for the upcoming SADC summit in August.
These operations have been outsourced to dubious businesspeople closely linked to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his family.
ZimEye has obtained the names of some of these individuals, who have already received millions of dollars in advance payments.
On Sunday, state media defended Mnangagwa’s takeover of Harare city operations, claiming that the council was incompetent and unable to independently create the clean, safe, and conducive environment necessary for the regional summit.

Chief director of spatial planning and development in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works Mr Shingirayi Mushamba said the programme will continue even after the summit. “The living conditions of people is what we are targeting as we improve service delivery,” he said. “The SADC Summit will come and go, but what we really want to do is to use it as a launchpad. Whatever standard we achieve, we must maintain it going forward. “In fact, we must improve further.” While the Government has previously stepped in to support Harare, he said, it has now assumed a more prominent role in directly delivering services to residents. On his first full day as Prime Minister, the Labour leader announced he would end the “gimmick” of deporting migrants arriving in the UK illegally to Rwanda, a policy established by the previous Conservative government.
The Rishi Sunak administration, under this scheme, targeted immigrants from Africa, planning to deport them to Rwanda.
The Conservative government excluded immigrants from European countries such as Ukraine and Russia, who were also arriving in the UK in significant numbers.
This exclusion made the scheme appear to be an anti-African or racist project.
Labour campaigned on a manifesto pledge to scrap the scheme, which has already cost around £310m, promising a more effective approach to tackling illegal immigration to replace it.

Despite multiple notices and attempts for resolution from the players, Yadah did not rectify the breaches, resulting in the players seeking FIFA’s intervention.
FIFA’s detailed ruling included the following directive: “The respondent, Yadah FC, must pay to the claimant the following amount(s): US$19,580 as compensation for breach of contract without just cause plus 5% interest p.a. as from April 4, 2024 until the date of effective payment.”

This follows the government’s takeover of Harare’s operations from the opposition-led council.
Last week, the government assumed control of key services, including waste management, public transport management, and road rehabilitation.
Several Mnangagwa allies controversially secured contracts to provide these services on behalf of the Harare City Council.
One such individual is convicted robber and CIO operative Delish Nguwaya, who controversially received a multi-million dollar tender for refuse collection at the Pomana dumpsite.
Nguwaya is known to have close ties to the First Family.
Under the guise of preparing for the upcoming SADC summit in August, Mnangagwa has effectively taken control of Harare to award lucrative tenders to his allies for sprucing up the once “Sunshine City.”
State media reported that the Harare City Council would be unable to independently deliver the clean, safe, and conducive environment necessary for the regional summit, justifying Mnangagwa’s seizure of Harare.
Political Reporter- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has dropped his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, from the party’s succession list and subjected the process to internal voting.
It was widely believed that Mnangagwa would be succeeded by his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
The two reportedly made a gentleman’s agreement in 2017, when Chiwenga helped Mnangagwa oust the late President Robert Mugabe in a military coup, that Chiwenga would take over in 2028.
Through his spokesperson, George Charamba, Mnangagwa conveyed that he is currently serving his second and final term.
Charamba posted this announcement on his X account (handle: @dhonzamusoro007) on Thursday, following Mnangagwa’s commissioning of a juice and water production plant at Mutare Teachers College. Charamba’s post read:
“Speaking in Shona, the President, Dr. ED Mnangagwa, indicated that both the Party and National Constitutions provide for two-term limits. In his case, he is now working on his second and last term and is on his way to taking a deserved rest. When the time comes, added the President, ZANU PF will congregate to elect a new leader. This is what provides for national stability. He also stressed the need for adherence to Party line and Party discipline.”

Manicaland Provincial Women Chairperson and a veteran of the liberation struggle, Keresensia Chabuka has passed away.
Senator Chabuka, who served as Senator for four terms, died yesterday after a long illness.
She is survived by four children and three grandchildren.
Manicaland Provincial Coordinator Itayi Masaka confirmed her passing, stating, “Her contributions to the fight for a better Zimbabwe will always be cherished and celebrated.”
Mourners are gathered at 11160 Murambi Gardens East, Mutare. Senator Chabuka will be laid to rest on Tuesday, 9 July 2024, in Chitenderano Village in Mutungagore (Makoni South Constituency), Makoni District.
Residents of Beitbridge expressed outrage on Monday over the distribution of elephant meat, alleging that government officials and members of the ruling Zanu PF party unfairly claimed the majority of the meat for themselves.
The controversy unfolded after Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Parks Authority) rangers euthanized two elephants at a council farm along the Limpopo River, citing safety concerns due to the animals’ proximity to the town.
According to eyewitnesses, the discord erupted when local residents were invited early in the morning to help skin and collect the meat from the elephants. However, tensions rose when government officials and council members reportedly arrived later in the day, commandeering a significant portion of the meat.
“We heard that the meat was being gathered for all civil servants and council officials. They came and loaded most of it into their trucks, leaving very little for those of us who had done the hard work of preparing the meat,” a resident told NewsDay Weekender.
Social media platforms buzzed with criticism from Beitbridge residents, condemning what they saw as an unfair distribution of the elephant meat.
“Taking advantage of their positions, government officials and even a vehicle from Zanu PF swooped in and took the lion’s share, leaving ordinary citizens with scraps,” another resident lamented.
Critics argued that the elephants had encroached into urban areas due to human settlement expansion, leading to sporadic conflicts and raids in Beitbridge East.
Parks Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo defended the decision to euthanize the elephants, emphasizing public safety concerns.
“We had to eliminate the elephants to protect residents, as they had become aggressive and were posing a danger,” Farawo stated.
Beitbridge, predominantly accustomed to wildlife encounters such as hippos and crocodiles, seldom deals with elephants venturing so close to town.
Albert Nguluvhe, a legislator representing Beitbridge East, denounced the perceived misconduct by government and Zanu PF officials.

A 20-year-old female suspect will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court in Turfloop in connection with a murder and attempted murder.
This follows an incident that took place at Moremadi Park on Wednesday 03 July at about 18:45.
Mankweng Police received a complaint about the incident at the residential area and rushed to the scene.Upon arrival, police say they found a male foreign national who pointed a three-year-old child who was lying on the bed with a severe wound on the upper body.
The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned at the scene for medical assistance, but the child was certified dead on their arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 20-year-old lady who is the suspect in this cases, was fighting with a 24 year-old mother of the child who is the wife of the male foreign national who called police.
During the fight, the suspect who is also alleged to be the girlfriend of a foreign male national hit a three-year-old baby with a spade that led to her untimely death.

By urging caution and inaction, they inadvertently perpetuate the power dynamics that have long favored the regime. The non-violent method, though well-intentioned, is inadequate against a regime that has consistently employed violence to maintain control.
Collaboration or Complicity?
Mawarire and Chamisa’s approach can be seen as a form of collaboration or complicity with the regime. By failing to challenge the status quo, they reinforce the power structures that have maintained Zimbabwe’s authoritarian political system. Their leadership undermines the potential for meaningful change and betrays the aspirations of the Zimbabwean people.
Zimbabwe requires leadership that will mobilize and empower the masses, rather than encouraging them to surrender to the regime’s whims. The pastors’ approach may be well-intentioned, but it is ultimately a betrayal of the revolution. To achieve true freedom and democracy, Zimbabweans must demand more from their leaders and reject the sanitized version of resistance offered by Mawarire and Chamisa.

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has seized upon the death of Silas Takawira Mashupiko Masawi, a member of the Zimbabwe Political Prisoners Detainees and Restrictees Association (ZIPPEDRA), to weave a narrative about his supposed contributions during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.
Mnangagwa’s involvement in the liberation war has always been shrouded in mystery, with many questioning the authenticity of his claims.
On Friday, while offering condolences for the late Masawi, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 86, Mnangagwa once again attempted to portray himself as a key figure in the fight for independence.
Masawi, at the time of his death, was the chairman of the Tangwena Zanu PF District in Mazowe West Constituency.
However, Mnangagwa’s condolence message seemed to focus more on his own exploits than on the life and contributions of Masawi.
Below is Mnangagwa’s statement, wherein he appears to inflate his role in the liberation struggle: “Following the blowing up of a steam locomotive outside Fort Victoria (now Masvingo) in 1964 by the Crocodile Gang, a ZANLA Guerilla Unit I led, Colonial Administration Forces went on a manhunt against members of the group. I escaped and went into hiding to stay at the late Michael Mawema’s house in Highfield and it is at this house that I first met Cde Silas Masawi in 1964. Cde Silas Masawi, already active in the underground movement of ZANU, was a dependable and committed cadre in the liberation of this country. I stayed with Cde Masawi under one roof until I was betrayed and arrested in 1965,” President Mnangagwa said in his condolence message. He continued, recounting Masawi’s arrest in 1967 and subsequent release after three months, followed by a conviction in 1973 under the Law and Order Maintenance Act (LOMA), which led to an 11-year imprisonment. Mnangagwa detailed Masawi’s hardships, including the loss of sight in his left eye and hearing in his left ear due to torture, and noted Masawi’s release in 1980, shortly before Zimbabwe’s independence. Mnangagwa also highlighted a 2021 visit from Masawi to State House, where the two reminisced about their past. He spoke of Masawi’s efforts to revive the Nyachuru chieftainship, which had been abolished by the colonial administration in 1896, and how he had honored Masawi’s request to restore it, naming him as the rightful heir. “On behalf of Zanu PF, Government and on my own behalf I express my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Masawi family upon the loss of a dear husband, loving father and grandfather. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Mnangagwa concluded.
While Mnangagwa’s statement paints him as a central figure in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, many remain sceptical about the accuracy of his recollections and his actual contributions during that pivotal period in the country’s history.
By Political Reporter- Welshman Ncube has once again claimed that former Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa was responsible for destabilising the opposition.
Ncube told a Bulawayo-based radio station that Chamisa’s “strategic ambiguity” caused chaos and confusion that engulfed the party before and after last year’s general elections.
Ahead of the August 3, 2023 polls, CCC did not conduct primary elections to select candidates, instead employing a controversial system that sidelined several long-serving opposition activists in favour of newcomers.
Then, in the aftermath of the elections, party activist Sengezo Tshabangu seized control of the CCC, aided by state institutions, and embarked on a series of infamous recalls that ultimately gave ZANU-PF a majority in the National Assembly.
According to Ncube, Chamisa’s “strategic ambiguity” rendered everyone within the party as mere onlookers, except for Chamisa himself, who even went so far as to call himself the “change champion in chief.”
Ncube also claimed that Tshabangu was never elected as the interim secretary-general of the CCC, but rather took advantage of the “strategic confusion” within the party to unilaterally appoint himself to the position. Said Ncube said:
Over and above that, as we headed for the August 2023 elections, there was already serious confusion within the party as to who held what position and who did not hold any position.
This other day we will wake up having Advocate Fadzai Mahere as the spokesperson and the next day it will be Mr Promise Mkhwananzi, all this under the animal, which they called ‘strategic ambiguity’.
This is what caused all this confusion, which ended up giving birth to an interim secretary known as Tshabangu, people that we never elected to those positions as party members.
Ncube, who has positioned himself as the interim president of one of the rival factions within CCC, that his group is actively engaged in restructuring the party in preparation for an elective congress. He said:
After this critical exercise, we will then take the party back to the people for them to elect their leaders of choice andhopefully, those who will be elected won’t make the same fatal mistakes we did like allowing this strategic ambiguity animal, which devoured the party.
Nelson Chamisa resigned from the CCC party in January 2024, asserting that the party had been infiltrated and hijacked by ZANU PF through its embedded agents.

The Zanu PF hardliner posted on the page on Friday:

And I too will lead from the front at a 45° angle defending the Sovereignty.”
This week, President @edmnangagwa announced that he will soon introduce ZiG as a monocurrency (i.e., in less than 2 years) if he is satisfied that ZiG is now circulating across the whole country.
Well on time before the President @edmnangagwa pronounces policy decision to ban the use of the USD, I thought that it is wiser that I capitalise on the President’s open door policy @dhonzamusoro007 and share with him my humble views on critical considerations which must be taken into account before introducing a new currency or monocurrency:
1) GOZ must develop a culture of seeing through its policies to the expiration date before making conflicting statements. For example, the pronouncements by the President that he will soon introduce ZiG as a monocurrency is in direct contradiction with the SI 218 of 2023 which extended the use of the multiple currency system to December 2030. This President’s statement, him being the AUTHORITY, will put markets into disarray and will see banks cutting back on USD lending – this will come with massive negative consequences on the economy. In same vein, some banks with long term loans in USD will start counting their losses – this will erode trust in government policies and confidence levels.
2) The introduction of a local currency requires basic minimum requirements such as current account account surplus, fiscal consolidation (we have to reduce our debt significantly to regions averaging 30% of GDP); a highly productive economy; single digit inflation and stable exchange rates. In reality it is very difficult to attain all these conditions at once. However, we must strive to build a productive and competitive economy. I would like to argue that the best way to back our currency is to back it with production. We need disruptive structural policies, that is, industrial policy, agricultural policy, trade policy and energy policy & energy master plan. These policies must be anchored on twin objectives, that is, import substitution and export drive.
3. The informal sector has always been and will always be a hindrance to government policies. The informal sector runs its affairs based on informal rules not government policies. In its current state, GOZ has no capacity to rein in the informal business. We must formalise the informal sector. The best way to formalise the informal sector is to build a productive economy (see (2)) which will see some sections of the informal sector such as vending and boot economy disappearing as people move into the formal sector/secures formal jobs. Again, with a productive economy, genuine small businesses/informal sectors will remain such as distributors and, through market linkages, will be formalised. In short, we must grow the formal sector.
4. We need to build confidence. Confidence building requires critical actors such as banks and GOZ walking the talk. Banks, for example, must provide sound banking products at affordable costs/reducing bank charges drastically. The main source of income for banks must be interest rate not bank charges! GOZ must develop evidence based & demand driven, credible and predictable policies. Most importantly, it is my humble view that GOZ must undertake nationwide consultations which will lead to a national dialogue on currency crisis and possible remedies. The output of this dialogue should be a de-dollarisation roadmap which is build on the realities facing the country and national consensus.
When introducing a new currency or addressing the currency crisis, it is my humble view that we must be more pragmatic and inclusive in our approach. The fact of the matter is that our country has been held back by currency crisis for close to 27 years, that is, from 14 November 1997 to date and there is no sign of it ending any time soon. This means that we need to do things differently hence my foregoing submission.
As I end my submission, I would like to remind the President @edmnangagwa of critical events regarding currency matters in Zimbabwe:
1) In February 2009, GOZ adopted the USD as the main currency. The market dumped ZWD and introduced USD. The USD was not introduced by @ChinamasaPA as he always claim. He was the acting Minister of Finance – he was forced by the market to adopt the USD. Here is the evidence, @ChinamasaPA’s budget of 2009 was in quintillions of ZWD not USD.
2) My good brother, Honourable @MthuliNcube introduced monocurrency on 24 June 2019. On the same date, I was the first guest @StarfmZimbabwe on @lindamuriro on Monday and I underscored that we will return to USD in March 2020. I made repeated claims @StarfmZimbabwe on subsequent programmes of @lindamuriro on Monday. It came to pass. In March 2020, we went back to USD. I am raising this precedence so that we can draw lessons from history.
Lessons:
1) We must establish the minimum requirement for the introduction of the new currency if we want our currency to succeed (see my submission above).
2) When it comes to economics, the market is the best constitutional court on any economic matter. Policy makers must always listen to the needs of the market and must always endeavour to develop evidence-based and market driven policies.

By A Correspondent| Controversial preacher, Apostle Talent Chiwenga has advised Zimbabweans that they are allowed by the constitution to tell and label President Emmerson Mnangagwa a failure.
Chiwenga’s message comes amidst a climate where the Mnangagwa administration is aggressively restricting freedoms of expression and association, threatening severe repercussions for dissenting voices.
Recently, 78 opposition members were imprisoned for peacefully gathering in the troubled southern African country, which has endured decades of misrule.
President Mnangagwa and his officials have been issuing stern warnings against individuals contemplating peaceful protests.
1. The ides of Mutare visited Zimbabwe today and made us witness a rare moment in history – a Zimbabwean leader occupying the seat of power voluntarily pronouncing his political future after the expiry of his term of office.
2. Not only was it a sombre moment, it was also jarring, – to the extent that it was unprecedented – and also in light of the swirling / frenzied speculation centring on whether or not there are machinations behind the scenes tasked with securing him a 3rd term, which would be unconstitutional, or extending his current term, which would equally be unconstitutional.
3. In recent months, none other than ED himself had set the cat among the pigeons by joining his Lieutenants public drum beating in chanting the slogan that he would still be in power in 2030.
4. In a recent episode in Chikomba District which was rather mortifying, he went as far as lining up his Cabinet Ministers to join him at the podium to repeat that dreadful & potentially dangerous slogan.
5. Viewed in light of those developments, today’s events presents as a stunning Volte-Face or U-Turn which has blindsided the nation.
6. Many felt that ED was courting trouble with his provocative slogan, while a great many others concluded that the Constitutional obstacles & political fundamentals he faced were simply way too formidable as to be insurmountable navigation wise, even for a wily, seasoned & ruthless veteran like him.
7. Many eyes were trained on General Chiwenga, the more powerful of the two current VPs and the coup kingpin, to try and suss out whether he was primed to execute any moves on the political chessboard.
8. He wisely kept his cards close to his chest and played poker politics – and continues to do so, making it very difficult for his opponents to read him.
So What Does ED’s Announcement Mean? a. It seems rather bizarre that it was announced in that fashion. Many are openly and naturally speculating why it unfolded in that fashion.
b. Some have referenced the recent state capture scandals, while some have referenced the shocking incidents surrounding ED‘s son and current Deputy Min of Finance‘s Borrowdale Home – which appears to have been the subject of an arson attack (*not yet confirmed*.)
c.ED‘s demeanour was that of someone who appeared to have been forced to make the announcement.
d. The announcement just tumbled out of him – there was no coherence, a sense of control and authority or mastery of the environment around him. Zvangonzi bvoo pachena, with no fanfare – as if it was some sort of burden that had been tormenting him!
e.To me, there seems to be too much of a disconnect between the investment that he had hitherto appeared to have made in potentially unconstitutionally retaining power – especially the choreography surrounding the likes of Tshabangu, Mudenda, Mudha, Ncube & others – and the sudden and dramatic abdication.
f. My take is that caution still needs to be taken pertaining to whether or not today’s announcement is grounded in sincerity. It really was a damp squib and bordered on feebleness …. a sort of anti-climatic capitulation and wholly uncharacteristic of political gladiators of his ilk.
g. It leaves one feeling that there is another instalment in store … more twists and turns before the finale. As we saw with Robert Mugabe, figures of history such as these rarely bow out without drama.
h. They find power terribly addictive and the corridors of power irresistible. They almost always feel drawn towards giving it one more shot before the coup de grace, which often makes for a dramatic & unforgettable exit!
Final take? It’s not over until it’s finally over. All the leading gladiators should sleep with their eyes open! There is a reason why there has never been a peaceful & democratic succession in ZANU PF & Zimbabwe since independence – from Mgagao Declaration to November 2017!

A tragic incident has left Harare residents in shock when a four-year-old boy from Park View died this Wednesday after falling into an open sewer pipe.
The open sewer pipe left unattended for close to two years has become a death trap.
The four-year-old boy, Kupakwashe Majoka, who was playing with his friends fell into the sewer drain and his body was discovered 10km from the opening of the sewer pipe.
Playtime turned tragic when he was violently sucked into an open sewer pipe a few metres from his parents’ home.
A search and rescue effort that included the Fire Brigade and residents lasted for two hours before the body was recovered at the sewer outlet in Mufakose.
The family of the child is traumatised.
“I left home in the morning and upon reaching my workplace, I received a phone call that Kupa drowned in a sewer pipe,” said Kupakwashe’s mother, Dzidzai Magumura
“Just like any other day, I stayed behind with the child. Kupa and his friends were playing outside. I was shocked when the other two kids told me Kupa fell into the sewer drain,” said the maid, North Matanga.
The sewer pipe is one of the several unattended openings dotted around the area with residents accusing the City of Harare of negligence.
“We have small children, each day we live in fear that something tragic is going to happen. At my house, there is a large open sewer that we discovered when we relocated here in 2010,” said a resident.
Another said, “We blame the City Council for failing to do their maintenance work. It’s called negligence. We have made several reports about these open sewer pipes but they do not even care to come and repair.”
“This is a third case of someone drowning in these sewer pipes, but nothing has been done to rectify the issue,” added a resident.
Harare City Council Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Stanley Gama urged the public to report any damaged infrastructure.
“We repair all damaged sewer pipes because this exposes the public to diseases such as cholera. However, on this particular incident, the engineers from the water department are saying the issue was never reported while residents are saying they reported the case. We are still investigating what happened and why was the sewer pipe not attended to for a long time,” he said.
The tragic incident could have been avoided if the local authority had addressed the anomaly.
Gift Ostallos Siziba, spokesperson for the citizens movement, has strongly reacted to threats made by army commander Lieutenant-General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe.
In a video circulating on social media, Sanyatwe threatened to enforce command voting on behalf of Zanu PF.
He also asserted that Zanu PF would remain in power until donkeys grow horns.

Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti was the owner of Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA) Church, also known as Forward In Faith Ministries International (FIFMI), the institution which claims he is a Servant of God.
Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti, who illegally benefitted USD116,000 from the RBZ agricultural mechanization scheme, was born on the 5th of May 1923 and died on the 5th of July 2023.
He will be remembered for participating in covering up the rape of underage kids by his blood brother, Nelson…? who was convicted for it, and also for leading his followers to obtain magic powers from corpse remains at gravesites, which he claimed enabled one to live to 100.
In his pro Mnangagwa-lawlessness religion, Guti will be remembered for making his thousands of followers believe that he was closer to the God than other humans.
It was because of his controversial character that many successful people like businessman Strive Masiyiwa chose not join his church after being pulled in by him.
By Business Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the United States dollar would cease to be legal tender in 2023 and would be replaced by ZiG.
This contrasts with Mnangagwa’s announcement in October 2023, when he extended the multicurrency regime by five years until 2030.
That move was seen as an effort to allay growing concerns about looming changes to Zimbabwe’s currency policy.
Speaking in Mutare during the commissioning of a new fruit juice and water processing plant, Mnangagwa indicated that the exclusive use of the ZiG may happen sooner than the 2030 timeline. He said:
In two years, in fact two years is too far off, but there will come a time when our ZiG currency has fully penetrated the market, then I will give a directive that the country will be using the ZiG only.
If you go to the shops to buy with the US dollar, they will refuse it. Even those who were performing and entertaining us today, who were being given US dollar tokens, in two months’ time you (they) will be given the ZiG and no US dollars because that is our currency and we should propel it.
In his remarks, Mnangagwa also stated that Zimbabwe could not continue relying on the US dollar given the perceived hostility of the United States government towards Zimbabwe. He said:
Biden (US President Joe) does not like us, but you like the money from his country, does that work? So as ZANU PF, we cannot keep using and relying on a currency that belongs to people who do not like us because one day they will try to hamper our efforts, and then we will not have a leg to stand on.
That is why we now have the Zimbabwe Gold currency (ZiG), which is our currency, a currency which we are propelling. We are propelling our currency.
Mnangagwa’s remarks highlight enduring tensions between Zimbabwe and the United States, notably concerning sanctions and other punitive actions imposed by Washington in response to human rights and related matters.
By portraying the US dollar’s use as problematic within this geopolitical context, the president is making a nationalistic argument for Zimbabwe to assert greater monetary sovereignty through the ZiG.
The ZiG is the country’s sixth attempt in the past 15 years to establish a functional local currency.
In response to Mnangagwa’s comments, economist Gift Mugano said there should be clarity on the state of the regulations that extended the multi-currency regime to 2030. He said:
So the statutory instrument which guarantees the use of USD up to 2030 will be a nullity? What will happen to banks which offered loans extending to 2030 on the back of this SI? In the same vein, what message is the GOZ sending to the banks with respect to lending? Slow down USD lending?
Launched in early April 2024, the ZiG is backed by 2.5 tons of gold reserves and $100 million in foreign currency reserves held by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

Firstly , Fred as a PF member knows that PF has never had meaningful intra-party elections devoid of confusion from the time it was established.
The party was not founded on clean democratic rules . This is what gets them in trouble every-time they want to have a new leader .
PF has been suffering from a leadership crisis ; they literally have no potential and meaningful leaders to take over from Sata . PF died with Sata .
This is why President Sata once said , “there would be a vacuum in PF without me “. covered by Fred M’membe’s Postnewspaper dated around 19th July 2006.
This is the vacuum Sata was referring to . From 2015, there has been a vacuum . Though the vacuum in essence started right when PF was formed .

In fact , PF leaders have been fighting from the time President Micheal Sata established the party, even at a time they had MPs in parliament.
At some point , Sata expelled all PF MPs for supporting MMD motion in parliament , and these were supposed to have lost their seats as far as PF was concerned , but the MPs sought legal intervention in court because they thought they were expelled for playing their parliamentary roles .
Hence , the idea of expelling MPs is not new under the PF .
The only MP who was left out was Hon Mumbi Phiri. So this is not a new development and we should not be surprised.
This behavior of not tolerating divergent views is partly what made Edgar Lungu to close the Postnewspaper , apart from Fred M’membe’s divisive behavior and lopsided way of looking at things. Fred is toxic and a bitter man who has no permanent friends .
The PF fights continued even after Micheal Sata died with Chishimba , Jean Kapata fighting for the Edgar Lungu candidature who soon turned against KAMBWILI after he( ECL) became president and also went for KBF and Harry Kalaba .
ECL went for Harry Kalaba , Miles Sampa , KAMBWILI , Chitalu Chilufya , and KBF because these had presidential ambitions. This is one known PF characteristic; they fight amongst themselves when they aspire for positions instead of allowing grassroots to vote for them democratically.
Citizens may also recall that when it was time for the PF to adopt a presidential candidate after Micheal Sata’s death , Edgar Lungu and Miles Sampa viciously fought forcing Miles to leave the PF and only came back when mayoral elections were called in Lusaka . This is Sampa’s biggest weakness . Once there is an opportunity, he leaves all his brains and political morality and fronts self at the expense of others . He is an opportunist. But we can’t blame him because it is his constitutional right .
Today , we are not surprised that Edgar Lungu and Miles Sampa , are fighting , forcing Sampa to call for a snap election of himself as President of PF , and later dissolving himself and all positions he created , to reconcile and dine with ECL again .
Back to the expelled MPs . Sampa , as per PF behavior, expelled the nine affected MPs by writing the speaker of the National Assembly to also declare their seats vacant .
Article (72) of the constitution of Zambia is instructive on vacation of MPs from parliament when the party that sponsored them expels them .
It is even difficult for any court to do anything if the expulsion letters are properly before the speaker and the procedure has been followed . What this means is that , the MPs are gone !
To this effect , citizens may recall that when the parliamentary recess was called off and parley resumed , the speaker acted on the letter from the PF in the same manner the notice of new Chief Whip appointment was acted upon .
It is not the speaker , or HH or UPND who wrote that letter . It is the PF themselves.
Then how can this unreasonable citizen called Fred M’membe think , with all this dirty history of PF leadership , that HH is responsible for the vacant seats ?
Fred M’membe must sober up . He is too old for such kind of dirty politics. We expect him to practice mature politics and even show more maturity than his young brother HH .
Lieutenant General Anslem Nhamo Sanyatwe’s assertion that the army backs ZANU-PF and will engage in command voting is a blatant affront to democracy and a gross violation of our constitution.
Section 211(3) explicitly mandates the army to uphold the fundamental human rights and freedoms of all citizens and remain non-partisan in their actions.
It is essential for all army personnel to receive training on constitutionalism and human rights before making public statements that expose their ignorance.
Zimbabwe is a multiparty democracy, and we demand free, fair, and credible elections where no political party is disenfranchised.
We expect a prompt apology and retraction from the General.
Today, we celebrate the commissioning of the Mutare Teachers College Fruit Juice and Water Processing Plant. This facility has a production capacity of 2000 litres per hour, producing juices from baobab, guava, pineapple, mango, and loquat, as well as bottled water.
This project will employ 60 permanent and 200 contract workers, with another 2000 households supplying raw materials. Future plans include producing baobab powder, seed cake, and seed oil.

By A Correspondent| Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba has defended Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander Anselem Sanyatwe over his remarks that they will sanction command voting if Zanu-PF’s power is threatened.
Posting on X, Charamba through his controversial dhonzamusoro account said military orders are not issued in villages to villagers but in barracks and military settings.
He said Sanyatwe was in his rural home and addressing a family gathering.
“Armies run on orders which are issued at parades and some such military settings. I am unaware of any order which is issued in a village and before villagers. Musatingwaudza nenyaya isipo. The General was in his home community and addressing his community-family. End of story. Kana wavhundutswa nezvakataurwa ipapo une purobulem. Igadzirise. When he put on his real identity as a General and Commander to say the same, not even little cockroaches will squeak. You know it!!!,” said Charamba.

South Africa-The new Home Affairs, Dr Leon Schreiber, has extended the expiry of the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits to December 31, 2024.
Holders of the ZEPs are currently awaiting the outcome of visa, waiver and appeal applications.
There are an estimated 170,000 Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa under the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP), and some of their applications for renewal are yet to be finalised.
In a statement Thursday, the SA Department of Home Affairs said this extension safeguarded applicants, including those who were contributing to the South African economy through their scarce skills.
Dr Schreiber, a member of the Democratic Alliance who was appointed to Cabinet under the Government of National Unity this week, said the workers were suffering from the adverse consequences of being erroneously deemed undesirable, while they awaited the outcome of applications submitted to the Department of Home Affairs.
The temporary concession applies only to foreign nationals who have been legally admitted into South Africa and those who have submitted their applications via VFS Global and who can produce a verifiable receipt for such application against the VFS Global tracking system.
“The processing of some of these applications has been delayed as the department works on reducing backlogs,” said the department in the statement.
“While the department has made progress in this regard since its previous communication on the matter, there is still a backlog in various visa and permit categories and Minister Schreiber has now moved to protect applicants while the backlog is reduced. “The decision to avert adverse consequences for applicants who seek to obtain lawful visas in order to contribute to South Africa, either through their skills or as tourists, signals the minister’s commitment to improving the visa system to make South Africa a more attractive destination for international investment, tourism and job creation.”
The department said the decision to extend the temporary concession served as a signal of intent to reinvigorate the Department of Home Affairs and position it as a vital economic enabler.
In order to build confidence in this new approach, the Minister was committed to avoiding a repeat of the current situation, which had seen the previous concession expire prior to the extension being announced.
“The temporary measures will apply with immediate effect and applicants whose waiver application outcomes are still pending, visa holders who have applied for a waiver and the waiver application is still pending as at June 30, 2024, are granted a further temporary extension until December 31, 2024, to enable the Department to process the applications, for applicants to collect their outcomes, and to submit applications for appropriate visas,” said the Department. “Those who wish to abandon their waiver applications and depart from South Africa, will be allowed to exit at a port of entry before or on December 31, 2024, without being declared undesirable in terms of section 30(1)(h) of the Immigration Act, 2002 read with regulation 27(3) of the Immigration Regulations, 2014. “Visa holders who need to travel but are awaiting the outcome of a waiver application, will be allowed to exit and re-enter at a port of entry up to and including December 31, 2024, without being declared undesirable in terms of section 30(1)(h) of the Immigration Act, 2002 read with regulation 27(3) of the Immigration Regulations, 2014.” Non-visa exempt applicants who travelled out of the country with a waiver application receipt were required to apply for a port of entry visa, which would allow them re-entry into South Africa. Under the new order, visa holders who had applied for long-term visas, business visas, study visas, relatives’ visas and work visas and whose application was still pending as at June 30, 2024, were also granted a further temporary extension until December 31. However, the applicants were not allowed to engage in any activity other than what the visa conditions provided for. The money trail of laundering, tax evasion, human trafficking, drug dealing, subversion of democratic processes like elections, and the sponsorship of acts of terror requires collective action.
This online resource would feature global money movement alerts, relationship web indicators, and active movement pointers for key persons of interest. Tools available for local and global action would include reporting to appropriate law enforcement agencies, citizen arrests, and potential special executive actions mandated by the severity of crimes.
Perpetrators of gross crimes against the people through the pillaging of national resources need to be broadly and clearly publicized, with substantial rewards posted for their apprehension. This cannot continue without collective action against the severe damage to our national resources, treasury, and stunted human development. If people can employ bands of private justice executors for relatively petty individual disputes, the public’s collective anger must be harnessed to ensure swift justice. The time to act is now.
In the pursuit of restorative justice, sequestered funds and assets across different jurisdictions need to be consolidated into a compensation fund for the many victims of gross human rights abuses in Zimbabwe, including but not limited to the Gukurahundi massacres. The financial crimes created and protected at the highest levels constitute a clear and absolute form of terror against the common citizens of Zimbabwe.
This phenomenon can be seen as an extended form of Gukurahundi, aiming to cause widespread poverty and assured destitution for all citizens. It is a calculated effort to suffocate and force the surrender of the people’s will to demand protection of their basic human rights. As people become impoverished and selectively favored, their capacity to demand justice diminishes, reducing them to hunters and gatherers for basic survival.
The structured mass looting, planned and executed with financial genocidal intent, is evident. The significant migration out of the country, driven by this massive deprivation of public resources, speaks volumes. Only crowd-funded global justice will bring this corruption pandemic to a halt.

There is an urgent need to support the framework for a Zimbabwe we demand by engaging in a smart, incisive information exchange on grand corruption activities and perpetrators. Pitso Mosimane has revealed how the Zimbabwean players contributed to his success in the South African Premier Soccer League.
Mosimane coached Mamelodi Sundowns for eight years, and worked with several Zimbabwean players that include Khama Billiat, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Cuthbert Malajila and Method Mwanjali.
In a radio interview with Robert Marawa on Marawa Sports World Wide, the gaffer said he used to scout the players during the pre-season in Zimbabwe.
“I used to raid Zimbabwe from Khama Billiat to Cuthbert Malajila, Method Mwanjali, Kuda Mahachi and others.
“You know what I used to do my pre-season there in Zimbabwe and when I go there I would play CAPS United, Highlanders and Dynamos.
“I would always play those and people don’t know why, it is because there is talent in Zimbabwe.”
Mosimane believes the country still has rich football talent despite the decline in the of number Zimbabwean players in the South African top-flight.
He added: “If I am to have a Premier League team right now which is not one of the giants, I will go to Zimbabwe for pre-season, play those big three, trust me I will come with one or two players which I will eventually sell to Sundowns, Pirates or Chiefs.”
