Fix Perennial Water Shortages And Help Contain Cholera Outbreak, Zlhr Challenges Murambinda Local Board

By A Correspondent| Human rights lawyers have asked authorities at Murambinda Local Board to help fix the perennial water shortages and improve the provision of sanitation services to help contain the cholera outbreak that has spread to other parts of the country.

In a letter written to the Chairperson of Murambinda Local Board in Buhera District in Manicaland province, Tatenda Sigauke and Peggy Tavagadza of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), said their clients, who are residents of Murambinda and are members of Buhera Residents Network Trust, were peeved by the perennial water supply problems and poor sanitation services in Murambinda.

Sigauke and Tavagadza said while they appreciate that the Murambinda Local Board is managing a transitional phase from its previous status of being a Growth Point, the need to ensure good service delivery remains paramount.

The human rights lawyers registered their concern over the non-collection of refuse particularly at Murambinda bus terminus and the non-availability of reliable water supplies in Murambinda.

Sigauke and Tavagadza challenged Murambinda Local Board to immediately attend to the provision of reliable water supplies and to improve sanitation in the area so as to ensure that residents can enjoy their right to safe, clean and potable water as guaranteed in section 77 of the Constitution as well as an environment that is not harmful to their health and well-being as provided in section 73 of the Constitution.

The lawyers asked Murambinda Local Board to provide residents with information on the concerns of poor service delivery, which they highlighted above and the interventions which the local authority is making to ensure efficient service delivery through the provision of safe, clean and potable water and regular refuse collection.

Zim Court Orders SSB To Garnish Delinquent Prison Guards’ Salaries To Compensate Torture Victim

By A Correspondent| The Harare Civil Magistrates court has ordered the Salary Service Bureau (SSB) to garnish US$100 each per month from the salary accounts of two Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) officers until they fully settle a debt amounting to US$5 200 after the duo was successfully sued by a Harare man, whom they tortured last year.

On Friday 20 October 2023, the SSB was ordered by a Magistrate at Harare Civil Magistrates Court to deduct US$100 each per month from the salaries of two ZPCS officers namely Michael Nduna and Florence Chihambakwe, to satisfy payment of a US$5 200 judgment debt, which was granted against the prison officers for their barbarism when they tortured Alex Tendai Gombedza.

Gombedza was severely assaulted and tortured together with his friend Evidence Kutsawa by Nduna and Chihambakwe, who accused them of passing through a prohibited area while they were walking through Chikurubi Prison garden in Harare in January 2022.

During the torture, Nduna and Chihambakwe instructed Gombedza and Kutsawa to lie down on the ground before assaulting them on their feet using wooden pick handles. After the assault, the ZPCS officers instructed some prisoners whom they were supervising to also assault the duo.

As a result, Gombedza and Kutsawa sustained severe injuries and had to seek medical attention.

Gombedza sustained injuries on his legs and feet and had to be admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital for treatment. The Harare resident suffered excruciating pain on his feet, which he still feels to date.

According to a medical report, Gombedza suffered three percent residual disability as a result of the injuries, which he sustained from the assault.

During trial at Harare Civil Magistrates Court, Gombedza’s lawyers Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Paidamoyo Saurombe of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who assisted him to sue Nduna and Chihambakwe for damages, argued that their client felt greatly humiliated, embarrassed, dehumanised and degraded with the assaults and ill- treatment that he received at the hands of the ZPCS officers.

The human rights lawyers stated that Nduna and Chihambakwe treated Gombedza as if he was a dangerous criminal yet he was unarmed and posed no security threat whatsoever.

Furthermore, Chinopfukutwa and Saurombe argued that there was no justification for the excessive use of force against Gombedza as he had not committed any crime but was just going about his business walking on his way to Harare’s central business centre.

After the assault and torture, an aggrieved Gombedza engaged Chinopfukutwa and Saurombe, who in August 2022 sued Nduna and Chihambakwe for damages amounting to US$5 250 arising from the physical attack and ill-treatment for pain and suffering, humiliation, affront to dignity and embarrassment. Gombedza also cited Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Hon. Ziyambi Ziyambi and ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu among the respondents.

Gombedza resorted to asking the SSB to garnish the two ZPCS officers’ salaries after proceeds realised from the sale of some household property belonging to Nduna at an auction held in Harare in April 2023 to recover the US$5 250 debt only amounted to US$49 leaving an outstanding debt of US$5 200.

The Harare resident said no attachable property was found at Chihambakwe’s residence.

Apart from garnishing salaries of delinquent ZPCS, SSB has in recent years also deducted salaries of Zimbabwe Republic Police officers, who would have been sued by ZLHR for misdemeanours committed against human rights defenders and ordinary citizens.

VP Chiwenga’s ex wife hauled back to court

Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex-wife, Marry Mubaiwa, yesterday told Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka to do as she wishes after her lawyer had renounced agency.

Mubaiwa, who is facing a charge of attempting to kill her estranged husband, was asked by Chakanyuka if she was comfortable to proceed to trial without her lawyer.

Her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, had renounced agency in protest over the way the case was being handled.

Mtetwa had asked the court for a postponement, arguing that her client was in pain following a leg surgery.

Chakanyuka, however, adjourned the matter for close to 20 minutes.

She also asked Mubaiwa to provide doctors’ documents that showed she had surgery.

Mtetwa, however, argued that a picture of a hole on Mubaiwa’s thigh should have served as enough evidence.

Chakanyuka then requested Mtetwa to bring the medical documents after an hour.

However, when the court resumed, Mtetwa renounced agency citing the harsh determination against her client.

The magistrate then asked Mubaiwa for directions, adding that she could look for another lawyer or to proceed with the trial without legal representation.

Mubaiwa told Chakanyuka to do what she wanted before the magistrate gave her a day to look for another lawyer.

The trial is set to continue today with former Health deputy minister John Mangwiro expected to testify.-NEWSDAY

Potraz hikes tariffs

By A Correspondent- The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) has more than doubled the data and voice tariffs to rescue the capital-intensive sector, reeling from the sharp depreciation of the local currency.

This is the third time that tariffs have been increased this year after reviews in February and April.

Since April, the local currency has depreciated by 444%, against the greenback, to US$1: ZWL$5 695,9159 on Wednesday, meaning that telecommunications needed to raise prices to maintain the value of their services.

In an interview with NewsDay Business yesterday, Potraz director-general Gift Machengete said tariffs were reviewed based on the changes with the transitions performance index.

“The sector, that is the postal and telecommunications, has been applying on using the telecommunication’s price index to determine the cost of providing telecommunication services. The last computation for the sector was done in February 2023. At that time, we were using the July to December 2022 post information,” he said.

“Now, the changes with telecommunication’s price index are used to review tariffs and we did that in February and April 2023. At that time we produced the tariffs of ZWL$94,41 for voice, ZWL$14,93 for data per megabyte, and ZWL$19,41 for SMS. These are the tariffs that we had. They are no longer viable and fall way below regional average tariffs.”

Resultantly, he said, they applied new increments to the tariff regime since the last change.

“Now, with the increase it then means that for voice it is taking us to US$0,40 per minute which is still way below the regional average. It is moving from US$0,20 per minute to US$0,40 per minute. Data is US$0,63 (per megabyte),” Machengete added.

With the old prices, the Potraz boss said the ZWL$94,41 for voice was equal to US$0,20 per minute at the time against a regional average of US$0,84.

Thus, even with the new prices, Zimbabwe’s voice and data tariffs still lag the regional average, he said.

“When we look at the cost of providing the services, it means the cost will be high and hence the problems that we face right now where we have very serious problems in terms of quality of services,” Machengete added.

Local internet service provider, Liquid Home Zimbabwe, notified its clients that the 100% data increase would go into effect at the start of next month with another 50% increment to be effected on December 1, 2023.

While tariffs lag those of regional competitors, the Potraz increment remains high for consumers as most of workers in both the public and private sectors earn their salaries in local currency.

While telecoms providers may get reprieve in terms of costs, consumers will see theirs rise exponentially.

A February 2022 report by the Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development ‘A Pricing Cap on Data Tariffs Now Critical to Protect the Poor’ explained that the problem was the telecoms and internet sector was dominated by monopolistic interests.

“Private sector players cite various reasons to justify the price increases including price adjustments by Potraz, rising operating costs, power-cuts and extensive vandalism of its infrastructure,” the coalition said.

“As long as the telecoms and internet sector are dominated by a monopolistic interest in a context of poor regulatory oversight and weak consumer protection mechanism, rising internet charges will continue making poor Zimbabweans even poorer,” the report said.

Mvurwi Resident Acquitted Over Destruction Of Mnangagwa’s Election Campaign Posters

By A Correspondent| A Mvurwi resident has been acquitted after standing trial on charges of destroying President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s election campaign posters used during harmonised elections held in August.

Tendai Dandajena, a 43 year-old resident of Mvurwi in Mashonaland Central province and a supporter of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party had been on trial at Bindura Magistrates Court after he was arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on 9 July 2023 in Concession while on his way to attend a political campaign rally in the capital city of Mashonaland Central province, which was scheduled to be addressed by CCC political party leader Nelson Chamisa.

Dandajena was charged with destruction of political posters in contravention of section 152(1) of the Electoral Act.

In court, prosecutors alleged that Dandajena unlawfully removed and tore ZANU PF political party campaign posters bearing President Mnangagwa’s picture, which were displayed on a wooden utility electricity pole in Concession.

One torn poster was produced during trial in court as part of the political campaign material, which had been allegedly destroyed by the Mvurwi resident while three state witnesses including the complainant Paradzai Bhobho testified against Dandajena.

However, Dandajena was recently acquitted at the close of the prosecution case after his lawyer Ernest Jena of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights applied for discharge after arguing that his client was actually a victim of assault by some ZANU PF political party supporters, who apprehended him and insulted him for wearing CCC political party regalia in a no-go area for the opposition party.

Suspected teen rapist bashed to death

By A Correspondent- A Plumtree boy (15) died after he was bashed by three suspects as punishment for allegedly raping a teenage girl.

The boy was severely assaulted and later complained of hunger before his death.

The matter came to light at the Plumtree Magistrates Courts on Wednesday where Ishel Nkiwane, Angel Gugulethu Sidusi and another 15-year-old girl who cannot be named for ethical reasons appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.

The trio was appearing in court for routine remand and Nembaware remanded them out of custody to January 16 next year.

Prosecutor Voster Makuwerere alleged that on June 27, the boy entered the victim’s room and raped her.

He reportedly fled from the scene but was identified by neighbours who teamed up and effected a citizen’s arrest.

The trio reportedly took turns to assault him before taking him to their house after he complained of hunger.

The court also heard that they fed him with sadza and water while assaulting him with rubber switches and open hands.

The boy reportedly collapsed and died on the spot, leading to the arrest of the trio.-newsday

Veld Fire Completely Destroys Mnangagwa Aide’s House

SHURUGWI – The homestead of a Shurugwi Zanu PF activist Raphael Mlingwa that was reduced to ashes by suspected arsonists in August has been burned down again, this time by a veld fire.

Mlingwa of Poshai Village under Chief Nhema lost building material that Zanu PF members had donated to him, food stuffs, livestock and all property to the fire two weeks ago. He told The Mirror that he is appealing for help as the rainy season has begun.

“I was at home when a veld fire burnt down my homestead again. We tried to put out the fire but the winds were strong and we failed.
“I lost all the building material as cement and roofing sheets. I also lost livestock and kitchen utensils. I am appealing for support to rebuild my homestead before the rain season comes into full swing,” he said… www.masvingomirror.com

Mnangagwa Vows To Defeat Sanctions

WHILE Zimbabwe has been reeling under illegal economic sanctions for the past 23 years, the Second Republic has come up with sanctions-busting measures to grow the economy and improve people’s livelihoods.

The United States of America and its Western allies imposed illegal economic sanctions to push a regime change agenda in Zimbabwe, threatened by the potential that the country showed in various sectors of the economy, particularly in agriculture and mining.

For the past 23 years, foreigners tried all tricks in the book including hiding behind opposition political parties, but they have failed to cripple the country’s economy owing to robust sanctions-busting measures put in place by the Second Republic.

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa took 9 months to build a dam which has transformed people’s lives despite the country being under sanctions. Muchekeranwa Dam, which has several hectares of land has become a green belt. Chivhu dam was completed, and 160 hectares of land is under irrigation, Rwenya Bridge has been completed despite the country being under sanctions. This shows how serious the Second Republic is in terms of improving people’s lives. Investors have come on board to look at the Manhize steel plant, very soon we will be getting steel,” said Mash East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Apolonia Munzverengwi.

The fight against sanctions requires a holistic approach, including harnessing the youth dividend through innovation and technology.

With the illegal embargo being felt across the economy, the tourism industry has shown its resilience through a robust expansion drive.

Gohori Resort director, Mr Bernard Kasekete said, “We had sanctions for a very long time and our President called business people to take charge of their destiny through participating in growing the national cake. This has pushed us to work hard and ensure that we continue to improve our facilities despite the existence of illegal economic sanctions.”

Zimbabwe has registered sustained economic growth for the past three years, proof that the country is winning the war against sanctions.

In the past six years, Zimbabwe has registered huge investment flows including the mining sector where companies such as Sabi Star and Prospect Resources have ventured into lithium extraction, while local construction companies such as Fossil Contracting and Bitumen have taken the lead in road rehabilitation and infrastructure development.

CAF Schools Football Championship Launched In Zim

THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee is taking steps towards bridging the gap between professional and school football after launching the CAF African Schools Championship in Harare this Wednesday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Schools Championship is an intercontinental school soccer tournament for boys and girls under the age of 15.

Its objective is to promote and develop the educational, cultural and humanitarian aspects of organised football in Africa by implementing youth programmes.

The programme was launched last year by CAF, but Zimbabwe was ineligible to take part as they were suspended from international football.

After the lifting of the suspension, the Normalisation Committee has moved in swiftly to promote junior development, an area of concern in local football.

“The competition will bridge the gap between junior football and professional leagues and this is an area we have been found wanting as a country because we did not have junior teams but this is the starting point,” said FIFA Forward Manager, Kudzai Chitima.

The championship is divided into three phases; national, regional and continental.

The national phase competitions will be held on the 27th and 28th of this month at Allan Wilson High School in Harare, with eight teams participating in each category.

The participating teams are drawn from various associations that govern schools sport in Zimbabwe, including the National Association of Primary School Heads (NAPH), National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH), Independent Colleges Association and Association of Trust Schools (ATS).

The winner of the national tournament will go on to represent the country at the COSAFA Schools Championship, set for later this year at a venue to be decided.

ZIFA, however, believes there is need for more school tournaments for the country to be competitive at international level.

“We need to move away from the current set up where we just okay football second term, we need to move along with the world and make sure we have more tournaments outside second term because scientifically a professional player need to have played ten thousand a hours of football at developmental stage but if we stick with the current set up we will produce half backed players,” added Chitima.

Apart from action on the pitch, ancillary programmes will also held during the course of the tournament.

There will be a Young Referees Course conducted by CAF, Young Reporters Course for school children to enter the media space as well as a CAF D coaching course that will be facilitated by CAF and instructors from France.

Statement by the Citizens Coalition for Change on the barbaric abduction and torture of Hon James Chidakwa

President @nelsonchamisa visited our former MP, Hon James Chidakwa at a local private medical center, where he is currently being treated.

Hon Chidakwa was brutally abducted, tortured, injected with an unknown substance, and had his dreadlocks forcibly cut off with a machete by the regime in Harare.

His only “crime” was his affiliation with CCC, his support for his party, and its leader President Chamisa.

N’anga Runs Out Of Power

A renowned witch-hunter, known as tsikamutanda from Tsholotsho, Matabeleland North province, fell gravely ill right before a cleansing ceremony he was set to lead, causing the event to be postponed. Nqobizitha Moyo (27), who has been leading several such ceremonies in various villages, is critically ill due to suspected poisoning.

The sudden illness puzzled many who had traveled from distant places to attend the ceremony. Vincent Hadebe, the head of Ntulani Village, expressed his surprise when Moyo, the main figure of the ceremony, didn’t appear. He shared that Moyo’s team informed him about Moyo’s severe health condition, suspecting it resulted from consuming mopane worms.

Hadebe mentioned the village’s hope in Moyo’s abilities to help with the prevalent knee issues affecting many, including students. The event had significant attendees lined up, such as Chief Magama and other traditional leaders. The ceremony has been postponed in hopes of Moyo’s recovery.

A local, preferring to remain anonymous, emphasized the community’s understanding of the situation, recognizing Moyo’s esteemed role. Moyo gained significant attention after his involvement in addressing a peculiar knee ailment impacting students at Magama Secondary School. In previous ceremonies, he unveiled various witchcraft objects from homes and offered healing to affected students.

Back in 2021, Moyo’s services were sought in Mtshina Village, Tsholotsho, where he discovered a child’s body that had been unearthed and placed in a barn. Attempts to contact Moyo were unsuccessful as his phone was unreachable.

Man Rapes Own Daughter

IN a heart-rending incident, a 16-year-old girl from Mathabiswana Village in Insuza area, Matabeleland North province was allegedly turned into a sex slave by her biological father who allegedly had anal sex with her on three separate occasions.

The matter came to light when the girl and her mother went to church where a pastor told the mother that the Holy Spirit had revealed to him that there was something that was bothering her daughter.

This was heard when the alleged rapist dad who cannot be named to protect the minor girl appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Collet Ncube facing three counts of rape.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 7 November.

Allegations against the suspect are that on an unknown date but sometime in April this year, he called his daughter to his bedroom.

When she got there he started accusing her of having a boyfriend before he assaulted her with a rope several times all over her body.

In the process he then forced her daughter to bend over before he removed her clothes and allegedly had anal sex with her.

After the act, he threatened her not to disclose the matter to her mother and he left her in his bedroom dressing up and she later followed him to the kitchen.

It is reported that sometime in August, the accused again called his daughter to his bedroom where he started punching her with fists for no apparent reason. He then removed her clothes and forced her to bend down and allegedly had anal sex with her.

It is further reported that sometime in October the accused used the same modus operandi, when he again sexually abused his daughter in his bedroom.

The matter came to light on 15 October, when the girl and her mother went to church and the pastor told the mother that the Holy Spirit had revealed to him that there was something that was bothering her daughter.

The victim’s mother then interrogated her and that is when she opened up and told her that her father had anal sex with her on three different occasions.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused and the victim was referred to St Luke’s hospital for medical examination.-state media

Is Kambucha Now Alcoholic?

Kambucha Drink Banned in Zimbabwe Despite Health Claims

Kambucha, a fermented tea drink that is touted for its health benefits, has been banned from supermarket shelves in Zimbabwe by the Ministry of Health and Child Care. This comes after the Masvingo City Council banned its employees from consuming Kambucha at work, arguing that it contains alcohol.

Some consumers of Kambucha, however, say that it is a non-intoxicating product and that they drink it to boost their health. One kombi driver told the B-Metro newspaper that Kambucha does get him and his friends drunk, but that it is cheaper than alcohol and that the police cannot arrest them for drinking it.

The makers of Kambucha claim on their website that the drink boosts the immune system, helps with weight loss, wards off high blood pressure, and prevents cancer. However, it is not known if these claims have been scientifically proven.

When the Masvingo City Council banned Kambucha, the authorities said that they had received reports of council employees coming to work drunk due to consumption of the drink.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Liquor Licensing Board are currently investigating, banning, and licensing new drinks in the market, including Kambucha.

Young Trey Nyoni Trains With Reds

Zimbabwe national team prospect Trey Nyoni has had his first experience with the Liverpool senior team after training with them on Wednesday.

Nyoni joined the Reds’ academy in September after leaving Leicester City Academy, where he spent ten years.

The 16-year-old has been in top form with the U18s, scoring four goals in as many games for the side.

He also featured for Liverpool’s U21s, coming on as a substitute earlier this month.

Nyoni has now been rewarded with a chance to train alongside the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk ahead of the team’s Europa clash against French side Toulouse at Anfield on Thursday.

However, the young prospect will not be able to feature in the game as he was not registered in the Reds’ Europa squad.-Soccer24 News

School Children Thrown Into The Street

Children Left Homeless After Eviction.

Children are the most vulnerable victims of evictions, and the recent eviction of 55 families from Feber Plot in Gwanda, Zimbabwe, is a stark reminder of the plight of children without shelter.

Among the affected families are 25 pupils at various primary and secondary schools in Gwanda District. When the children arrived home from school, they found their parents stranded by the roadside with their personal belongings.

The families were evicted after a court order was granted in favor of the rightful owner of the land. However, the families say they were not given adequate notice to vacate, and that their property was damaged during the eviction process.

One mother, Ms. Faris Mudenda, said she has three children aged between two and 11. She said she was at work when she received a call telling her that their belongings were being moved. When she arrived home, she found officers and other people moving their belongings.

“They were moving our property from the plot, loading it into a car, and dumping it here by the roadside,” she said. “Some of our property was damaged in the process and some of us lost money in the process as there were a lot of mix-ups of valuables.”

Another mother, Mrs. Mary Chitimba, said her daughter, a Lower Six student at Sabiwa High School, was shocked when she arrived home to find her parents stranded by the roadside.

“I can’t understand why we are being treated this way,” said Mrs. Chitimba. “We have lived on this plot for many years, and our children go to school here. Where are we supposed to go now?”

The eviction of the families from Feber Plot is just one example of the many evictions that take place in Zimbabwe each year. Evictions are often carried out without due notice or regard for the rights of the residents, and children are particularly vulnerable.

Children who are evicted from their homes face a number of challenges, including:

  • Loss of access to education and healthcare
  • Increased risk of violence and exploitation
  • Psychological trauma and stress

The government of Zimbabwe has a responsibility to protect the rights of all children, including those who are homeless. The government should take steps to prevent evictions from taking place, and to provide support to children who are evicted from their homes.

Call to action

We urge the government of Zimbabwe to take the following steps to protect the rights of children who are homeless:

  • Enact and enforce laws that prohibit evictions without due notice and adequate safeguards for residents, including children.
  • Establish shelters and other support services for homeless children and families.
  • Ensure that homeless children have access to education and healthcare.
  • Work with communities to develop sustainable solutions to homelessness.

Battling Cholera in Zimbabwe: A Global Health Imperative

By Lloyd Gideon Makonese.

Zimbabwe is currently facing a cholera outbreak, with over 5,000 possible cases and 100 suspected deaths recorded since late September 2023. Cholera is a water-borne disease that can spread rapidly in areas with poor sanitation and is caused by the ingestion of contaminated water or food. The country struggles with access to clean water, and poor or nonexistent sanitation infrastructure has resulted in regular outbreaks

Cholera, a bacterial infection, spreads through contaminated water and food, leading to severe dehydration and even death if left untreated. In the face of this crisis, various community-based interventions and collaborative solutions can help beat the outbreak.

Community-Based Interventions:

  1. Hygiene Education: Empowering communities with knowledge about safe water, sanitation, and hygiene practices is crucial. Local health workers can conduct workshops and awareness campaigns to educate residents about proper handwashing, water purification, and food handling techniques.
  2. Oral Rehydration Points: Establishing easily accessible oral rehydration points within affected communities can save lives. These points provide essential fluids and electrolytes to those suffering from cholera, helping to combat dehydration.
  3. Community Surveillance: Mobilise community members to report suspected cases promptly. Early detection can lead to quicker isolation and treatment of cholera patients, preventing further spread.
  4. Safe Water Sources: Collaborate with NGOs and government agencies to provide communities with access to safe drinking water sources. Installing water purification systems and promoting the use of water treatment tablets can significantly reduce the risk of infection.

Collaborative Solutions:

  1. Government and NGO Partnership: The Zimbabwean government should work closely with international and local non-governmental organizations to coordinate resources and efforts. This partnership can ensure efficient distribution of medical supplies, vaccines, and sanitation infrastructure.
  2. Regional Cooperation: Cholera knows no borders. Zimbabwe should collaborate with neighboring countries to control the disease’s spread. Sharing information and resources can help create a united front against cholera.

Zimbabwe, a member state of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), shares its borders with Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana, Malawi, and South Africa. It is imperative for these neighboring states to take precautionary measures and offer support to ensure the timely containment of the cholera outbreak within Zimbabwe. Failing to address the outbreak at its source could have severe negative implications for regional and global trade.

Regional Cooperation is essential in the fight against cholera. Cholera, as a highly contagious disease, recognizes no borders. Therefore, Zimbabwe should actively collaborate with its neighboring countries to effectively control the spread of the disease. This collaboration should extend to sharing critical information, resources, and expertise, thereby forging a united front against cholera. By working together, these nations can collectively mitigate the risk of the outbreak regionalizing and impacting the broader Southern African region.

  1. Global support is crucial in addressing the cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe. The international community can play a pivotal role by providing essential funding and expertise to assist Zimbabwe in effectively controlling the outbreak. International organizations, prominently the World Health Organization (WHO), stand ready to offer technical assistance and allocate vital resources to fill gaps in capacity, particularly in areas where Zimbabwe faces limitations in its response to the outbreak. Such collaboration with global partners ensures a more comprehensive and efficient effort to combat cholera in Zimbabwe, safeguarding the health and well-being of its citizens and preventing the further spread of the disease beyond its borders.

Zimbabwe’s Health Delivery System and Impact:
Zimbabwe’s health delivery system has faced challenges in recent years, including underfunding and resource shortages. The cholera outbreak places further strain on the healthcare infrastructure, highlighting the need for investment in healthcare systems to ensure adequate response to health crises.

The impact of cholera on individuals is devastating, with symptoms ranging from severe diarrhea to life-threatening dehydration. Vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly, are at higher risk. Additionally, the economic burden of cholera is substantial, as treatment costs and loss of productivity can cripple communities.

Globally, cholera remains a major public health concern, with outbreaks occurring in areas with inadequate sanitation and clean water access. Addressing this issue in Zimbabwe is not just a local effort but a global responsibility to reduce the overall burden of the disease.

In conclusion, combating the cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe requires a multi-pronged approach, including community-based interventions and collaborative efforts. By working together and prioritizing hygiene education, safe water sources, and early detection, we can help Zimbabwe overcome this crisis and reduce the global burden of cholera. It is imperative that we act swiftly to save lives and build a healthier future for all.

Raging Fire Destroys Zanu PF Activist’s Home

Firearm holders urged to surrender arms

POLICE yesterday urged all illegal firearm and ammunition holders to “voluntarily” surrender the weapons under the presidential amnesty.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi, said individuals and companies with unregistered or smuggled firearms should make use of the presidential amnesty to regularise the possession of the weapons.

“The public and relevant institutions are reminded and urged to go to nearest police stations and formally surrender all firearms,” Nyathi said.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa in August last year declared an amnesty on all illegal firearm holders to voluntarily surrender them to their nearest police stations with no questions asked.

The amnesty followed a spike in armed robberies and other offences involving the use of firearms throughout the country.

“No criminal charges will be preferred against anyone who voluntarily surrenders a firearm or ammunition during this period. The public is therefore urged to take advantage of this amnesty and regularize possession of firearms in terms of the Firearms Act, Chapter 10:09,” Nyathi said.

In last year’s amnesty exercise, 580 firearms and 260 ammunition were surrendered to the police.

“Tshabangu’s actions illegal”: CCC

CCC has reiterated that Sengezo Tshabangu’s activities are illegal and that Parliament and the Minister of Local Government should disregard them, reported CITE.

This comes after Tshabangu wrote a letter to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) submitting a list of what he said were the designated officials authorised to countersign papers for the party’s approved candidates for the upcoming by-elections.

By-elections will be held on 09 December 2023 after Tshabangu recalled 15 CCC members of the National Assembly, 09 senators and 17 Councillors.

CCC spokesperson Promise Mkhwananzi said Tshabangu is not authorised to act on behalf of the party and that his activities are illegal. Said Mkwananzi:

As we have stated, Tshabangu’s activities are an ongoing act of criminality and illegality, thus all there is, and we continue to advise the speaker of Parliament to disregard Tshabangu and all the things that he is doing, they are not part and parcel of CCC.

The signing thing is neither here nor there, what is there is that Tshabangu is not the person that is supposed to sign. We have got people that were signing for our candidates in the election. We will communicate in due course.

According to a letter dated 23 October 2023 addressed to ZEC’s Chief Elections Officer, Tshabangu, Mbuso Siso, and Jabulani Ncube are the CCC officials designated to countersign nomination papers for the party’s candidates.

Panic as cholera hits Chitungwiza

Cholera has spread to Chitungwiza after suspected cases were recorded in St Mary’s, sparking panic among residents of the dormitory town that is facing acute water shortages.

The Chitungwiza municipality has turned the Family Health Services Clinic, commonly referred to as the Baby Clinic, into a quarantine centre for the infected.

St. Mary’s city health promoters’ chairperson, Juliet Jotam, confirmed the cholera outbreak when contacted by NewsDay.

“We are doing door-to-door campaigns, giving people awareness, and teaching those hygienic habits, such as washing hands before eating. We don’t want to see a lot of people die of cholera. That’s why we believe in prevention,” she said.

In a statement, St. Mary’s Clinic Health Promotions department said: “St. Mary’s has been hit by a cholera outbreak, with a number of cases reported in the just-ended week.”

Chitungwiza’s acting health and environmental services director, Herbert Chiroodza, said they were monitoring the situation.

Chitungwiza Central Hospital spokesperson, Audrey Tasaranarwo, told NewsDay that the hospital received cholera patients from the dormitory town.

Chitungwiza Residents Trust director, Alice Kuveya, accused Chitungwiza municipality of allegedly supressing the number of confirmed cases.

“I was at St. Mary’s clinic yesterday (Tuesday) and I also met Chitrest residents’ coordinators, who said the situation is not pleasing. Most of the boreholes drilled by the council are not working,” Kuveya said.

Chitungwiza and Manyame Rural Residents Association director, Marvelous Kumalo, said Chitungwiza was a ticking health time bomb.

“I hope that the authorities will manage the cholera cases and stop the disease from spreading,” he said.

“A permanent solution involves having a water source and a water treatment plant for Chitungwiza’s rapidly growing population. The town also needs to improve its waste management systems, especially liquid waste reticulation.”

Cabinet on Tuesday revealed that Zimbabwe’s cumulative suspected cholera cases were 5 338 with 5 090 recoveries as at October 21, 2023.

Manicaland and Harare provinces emerged as the most affected areas with the highest number of cholera cases in the country, having reported 2 524 and 1 654 cumulative cholera cases, respectively.

Former Top Model Escapes Jail

By- Top former model Mercy Mushaninga has been convicted and sentenced to perform 350 hours of unpaid community service at the Belvedere Vehicle Inspection Department.

Mushaninga duped five models of a combined US$10 200 in a botched Dubai modelling event

A Harare magistrate Ms Yeukai Dzuda also ordered Mushaninga to pay back the money.

Mushaninga (47), who is also founder of Zim Gossip Model Agency, was convicted of fraud after a full trial by Ms Dzuda. Ms Dzuda had initially slapped Mushaninga with a 28 months’ jail term.
Six months were suspended on condition of good behaviour, another 12 months were suspended on condition she pays back the five models she duped their US$10 200 by December 21, and the remaining six months were suspended on condition she performs 350 hours of community service at Belvedere Vehicle Inspectorate Department.
In mitigation before sentence, Mushaninga told the court that she was a single parent of two children, aged 25 and 17, and that she also takes care of her late brother’s children. But in aggravation, Prosecutor Mr Bornface Musvaire asked for a stiff penalty, adding that it was the duty of the court to protect victims.
“The accused has shown remorse. But it should be noted that the victims of the offence suffered a negative impact with some victims having to suffer in Dubai for the event that never took place,” he said.
“Some, who were still in Zimbabwe, had to prepare, go to the airport, only to face the embarrassment that they were not going to travel.
“It is of paramount importance to protect this type of victim. Society must have confidence in the courts and must know that the courts are there to protect them from such offenders.”
The State proved that in August last year, Mushaninga invited Daniel Tinei Muzondo, Isabel Temani, Wendy Kamwana, Shalom Ramunyenyiwa, and Wadzanai Chitate to participate in the 6th Miss Universal VIP World 2022 and the 16th Little Miss Universe Beauty Pageant scheduled for October 25 to 30 last year in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
They each paid up to US$2 900, totalling US$10 200. The complainants only discovered that they had been duped on October 24 on the scheduled date of travel. They made a police report leading to Mushaninga’s arrest.

Mystery Surrounds Assault of First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent | HARARE – The city was rife with speculation and concern over a photograph which surfaced showing First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa with a severely broken arm. Given her tumultuous past, many were left wondering: who could have assaulted the First Lady?

From December 2017 to December 2022, numerous reports highlighted a pattern of violence by the First Lady against staff members at the State House. These allegations only ceased after an investigative report by ZimEye news network brought the issue to the public’s attention.(click to read)

Moreover, insiders have hinted at increasing tensions within the Presidential home. Some sources suggest that the probability of violence from her husband reached an alarming 99% before a pivotal moment. Following another explosive investigation by ZimEye, the First Lady was allegedly relocated to a property across the road from the State House.

While many speculate about the connection between her relocation and the assault, official statements remain scarce. The President’s Office has yet to comment on both the relocation and the incident.

The image is date-stamped on her son, junior’s portal within a few months of a lengthy videocall Auxillia made to ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza which lasted more than half an hour, afterwhich time Chikanza requested that she responds to the rest of his interview questions.

Chikanza would later offload the entire videocall to the public despite threats he received from the controversial activist, Hopewell Chin’ono who claimed that his (Chikanza’s) deadline to Auxillia Mnangagwa was blackmail which would get Chikanza arrested in the UK. Chin’ono commandered a hoarde of Twitter personalities to hush down criticism that propped up Mnangagwa’s wife’s reputation and made it aopear as if she had been violated, when she is the one who had videocalled the journalist and in fear of being explosed, communicated various explosive revelations about her relationship with her husband, Emmerson and also with his deputy Constantino Chiwenga. She also blew her skirt up over the illegal appointment of her convicted armed robber brother, Paradzayi Kutyauripo to the State House and to the Negomo Chieftainship.

Hopewell Chin’ono’s confirmation of threatening Chikanza to protect Auxillia Mnangagwa from public scrutiny

The incident has also sparked a broader conversation on the safety and well-being of political figures and their families.

Auxillia is currently booked to enter an expensive London hotel in November with a senior London embassy male staff member (name withheld).

For now, as the investigation continues, the nation watches and waits for the truth to emerge.

West Group Security Champions Women Empowerment

By Business Reporter- Women play pivotal roles in our society. They are our daughters, sisters, mothers, grandmothers and above all, the best caregivers because of their feminine attributes.

Recognising their essential role and involving them in decision-making and solution implementation makes life simple.

One company that has embraced women with open arms is West Group Security, a subsidiary of WestProp Holdings.

The company is moving with the times and is at the forefront of giving opportunities and promoting women into positions of authority and influence.

The company, co-founded by phenomenal businesswoman and philanthropist Mrs Joanna Sharpe and ex-top-cop Dr Oliver Chibage, is well aware of women’s critical and public relations role in private sector security.

This reporter interviewed two of the 79 female security officers at West Group to understand their mood working in the private security sector, a preserve for men in years gone by.

Security Officer Makumbi Imbayago, currently number four (4) in the hierarchy, leads the womenfolk at West Group Security.

She feels so much at home in her job that she is ready to add value when the company opens a training school.

“I have qualifications as an instructor from the Air Force of Zimbabwe. I feel I have a lot to give in terms of training and instilling discipline”, she says.

She says women play an important role in security because they always employ the feminine side to relate to clients, which makes them more accessible.
“Modern security is very flexible. One however has to work within their terms of reference and interact with customers in accordance with the needs of the site and client,” she says.

Security Officer Imbayago has a diploma in ICT and other developmental qualifications attained during her 23-year stint with the Air Force of Zimbabwe.

One of the youngest officers at West Group is Patience Nyachiwowo (23), a part 3 student at the Midlands State University doing a Bachelor of Arts in Business Sciences and Management.

Patience Nyachiwowo

She joined the company in March 2021, soon after completing her Advanced Level studies at Lundi Christian College in Masvingo.

“I joined the company as a guard. I chose to be a guard because I was inspired by my uncle, who is a Zimbabwe Republic Police officer. I told myself I would want to do guard duties and rise through the ranks.

“My first guard duties were at Pokugara Town Houses and at BP Global Solutions at Joina City,” she recalls.
She says West Group Security allowed her to further her education and reassured her that she would always return to work during semester breaks.

“I am currently doing my attachment at West Group Security. I am doing business administration as part of my learning programme,” she said.

Ms Nyachiwowo feels there is enough space for women in security, and she is confident more educated women will find it attractive to be security guards.

“Security is a field for women. We fit in all departments be it on the field and in management. I am glad I am making a difference,” she said.

According to Caitlin Oelofsen, the founder of Feminine Enhanced Modern Inventions (FEM-I), a tech-start up on a mission to redefine safety for women, empowering women with leadership could bring up new security solutions.

“Equipping more female employees with the training and skills required to progress to middle management or higher management positions within the industry could lead to groundbreaking multi-perspective safety solutions whilst strengthening company culture and boosting employee morale”.

“The participation of women in security is pivotal as it provides a nexus between discord and comfort. In the advent of discord, women inspire confidence and provide harmony,” says Mrs Sharpe.

Mnangagwa Finally Reveals Crocodile Character

CCC Namibia condemns the state-sponsored abduction and torture of former CCC MP Hon Chidhakwa!

25 October 2023

Citizens in Namibia who subscribe to the national democratic revolution led by the organic President Advocate Nelson Chamisa are quite infuriated at the perpetual state-engineered abductions, torture, and enforced disappearances of change champions and human rights defenders on account of politics. We condemn the recent abduction and torture of Hon Chidhakwa, who was bundled into a car in Harare, tortured, and left for dead in Acturus.

This incessant perpetration of violence on the alternative unearthed ZANU-PF’s panic mode ahead of the SADC Summit after the 23 August shambolic elections. Namibia district is jovial in that Hon Chidhakwa regardless of torture, remains committed and determined to prosecuting the democratic struggle to its bitter end. His comprehension of the ups and downs of the struggle is an exception considering that the ZANU PF-controlled state agents broke his hands, and legs and injected him with an unknown substance.

It is now imperative for Zimbabweans to embrace dangerous freedom against state repression. Hon Chidhakwa called out for aid during the abduction but the people of Zimbabwe ignored his clamour for help. Namibia district is perturbed that the citizens always blame the President for not giving them the signal, it is clear that Zimbabweans are not yet ripe for a full-blown revolution against tyranny. Solidarity is a core value of social democracy, the citizens in Harare were anticipated to offer solidarity to Hon Chidhakwa during the period of his abduction.

ZANU-PF is taking advantage of the citizenry’s incapacity to sacrifice for better livelihoods for everyone in the motherland. Citizens have become extremely selfish, none is ready to pay the ultimate price. We are inspired by his resolution to keep on supporting the people’s struggle despite the side shows exhibited by Tshabangu, an undoubted ZANU-PF surrogate.

We would like to wish Hon Chidhakwa a speedy recovery so that together we can accomplish the national democratic struggle against ZANU PF satanism. Citizens must unite across the political divide and exert political and diplomatic pressure on the regime. All constitutional avenues should be exhausted as the Harare regime presses the panic button. Zimbabwe belongs to us all and we demand freedom, equality, and justice in the motherland.

Abductions epitomize that the politically inept regime did not win the elections. The futile attempt to silence the voices of dissent will not suffice. Citizens shall peacefully rise demanding a fresh election run by an independent body, and an abrupt end to state-sponsored torture, gross abuse of human rights, looting, corruption, and politically motivated violence. The people of Zimbabwe deserve free, fair, and credible elections.

The attempt to deter social democrats through abductions must be resisted with equal measure. Tshabangu and his masters will certainly meet the wrath of the citizens who have invested much in CCC since its inception. Let’s gather the varlour, mettle, and nerve needed to confront these looters. CCC Namibia appreciates SADC, the African Union, and all other observer missions for speaking truth to power and condemning the sham elections that were marred with irregularities. Citizens should remain focused on demanding fresh elections in Zimbabwe.

“Tiripachirangano, chero vakarova sei”, be strong Hon Chidhakwa, Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, Clr Womberaishe Nhende, Jacob Ngarivhume, and all political prisoners incarcerated because of politics. Independence with freedom, justice, and equality will surely come in a New Great Zimbabwe led by our political generator, President Adv Nelson Chamisa. ZANU-PF is cognizant of the revolutionary prowess of the masses which is why they are intimidating citizens through abductions, arbitrary arrests, and long pre-trial detentions.

We demand justice for Hon Chidhakwa! #FreeJobSaroWiwaSikhala #JusticeForMoreblessingAli.

Svikiro-for-ED’S Lightning Bolt Headed for United States Explodes In Harare | GRAPHIC

Jest in pictures: A Svikiro for ED (Witch Doctor for ED) stands confidently against a neutral background. He is adorned in traditional magician attire, but what stands out is a vibrant scarf wrapped around his neck, showcasing the colors of the Zimbabwean flag: green, yellow, red, and black with a white triangle on the left side. In his outstretched hand, he holds a bolt of electric blue lightning. The energy crackles and hums as he directs it toward a large map of the United States that’s displayed in front of him. However, instead of striking the map, the lightning bolt rebelliously curves away, refusing to make contact. The bolt then arcs back towards the magician, flying straight into his surprised face. The trajectory of the lightning bolt continues past him, stretching out behind him and pointing directly at the city of Harare, Zimbabwe. PICTURE STORY

Mnangagwa Fails To Rig Economy

Statement by CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa

RIGGING ELECTIONS DESTROYS EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE …

The recent financial development is very disturbing but it is in itself an indication of the bad politics and flawed government arising out of and from a disputed, flawed and bogus election.

I hear that Banks have stopped giving $USD loans. This will have far reaching ramifications on industry, commerce and the economy at large.

As of June 2023, RBZ reports show that 94% of the loans are denominated in USD while 6% of the total loans were in ZWL. In terms of deposits, 88% of total deposits were in USD while 12% were ZWL. If the USD under the mattresses were deposited into the banking sector, share of the ZWL deposits would be undoubtedly close to 0%. This effectively means that the economy has dollarised.

In view of this, if the news circulating around which to the effect that banks have stopped issuing USD loans is correct, it simply means that the whole economy is cut off the financial system and its demise is close!

There is no scope to substitute USD with ZWL because the supply of ZWL is very thin. In addition, with interest rate of 150% per annum, it is not viable to switch to ZWL loans. If the development is true, this situation is as good as taking out oxygen from a living being.

The chaos which will ensue is unimaginable – 49% of Zimbabwean currently live under extreme poverty. The ensuing economic hardships will likely increase extreme poverty and emigration into neighboring countries. The Zimbabwean economic crisis is now a SADC domestic crisis!

The country is paying the price to rot in constitutionalism, drought of good governance and a kwashiorkor of leadership!

Zimbabwe must return to majority rule, a people’s government and a restoration of fundamental freedoms, rights and democracy. Zimbabwe needs a capable, responsible and accountable government #ForEveryone

“Theories on the Origin of the Universe”

By Etiwel Mutero | Many progressive thinkers have pondered the origin of the universe. Various theories have been proposed, and some have gained acceptance. Among these, the Big Bang Theory stands out as the most widely acknowledged within the scientific community. Yet, questions persist: Are these scientific theories on the origins of the universe valid? Can we regard them as factual? Is there an alternative theory more compelling than the Big Bang Theory?

It’s essential to understand that every theory regarding the universe’s origins has its limitations, often leaving readers with lingering questions. For instance, many of these theories suggest that our current universe emerged from nothing, implying that its existence might be a random occurrence or accident. This perspective seems to negate the possibility of an intentional creator.

Lawrence Krause, in his book “A Universe from Nothing: Why There is Something Rather than Nothing,” delved deep into the Big Bang Theory. However, George Ellis critiqued this work, stating that Krause presented “untested speculative theories… without experimental or observational evidence… it’s more philosophical speculation than tested science.” Given such critiques, some argue that theories like the Big Bang and even Darwin’s theory of evolution are more philosophical than scientific.

If these prevailing theories are viewed with skepticism, is there an alternative explanation for the universe’s origin? The intricate beauty of nature and the order within the cosmos suggest an intentional design. Nazeer Ahmed Kasi, in “The Universe and its Designer,” argues that without acknowledging an intelligent creator, the universe becomes inexplicable. This perspective aligns with the creation narrative in the Bible’s Book of Genesis.

Written by Moses under divine inspiration, Genesis 1:1 states, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The subsequent verses detail the creation process over six days, culminating in the creation of humanity. Various Bible verses support this narrative, emphasizing God’s role as the Creator.

The Book of Colossians introduces another dimension, suggesting Christ’s involvement in creation, aligning with the trinity doctrine of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This interpretation is further supported by passages in Hebrews and John.

Revelation 14:7 emphasizes worshiping the Creator God, highlighting His uniqueness. The Bible asserts that God created the universe in six literal days, resting on the seventh, which He sanctified. This day of rest, the Sabbath, is a reminder of God’s creative power and ownership of all existence. Observing the Sabbath is an act of recognizing God’s sovereignty.

Saturday is recognized as the Sabbath in the Bible, a day of rest and worship. This practice is rooted in the creation narrative and serves as a weekly reminder of God’s role as the Creator.

In conclusion, while scientific theories offer insights into the universe’s origins, they also come with uncertainties. The Biblical narrative provides an alternative perspective, emphasizing a divine Creator. Regardless of one’s beliefs, it’s crucial to approach the topic with an open mind and respect diverse viewpoints.

Auxillia Mnangagwa London Hotel Booking With A Mystery Male Employee

As ZimEye prepares to offload details of First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s expensive London hotel booking, ZANU PF members have launched attacks agaist the news network saying the investigation is unwarranted. As an update is in the prepare, below is a response by one ZANU PF supporter following the embassy announcement on Auxillia’s controversial trip to London where she is set to blow USD3million on a sadza cooking competition involving 10 contestants she is flying to Zimbabwe with and on whom she will be the judge inside the London embassy building. She is currently booked with an expensive London hotel that charges GBP1,000 per day, and a senior married male embassy employee is joining her in the posh building where she will be without her husband, the despot Mnangagwa.

By Own Correspondent | In a Sunday (last week) development, a UK based ZANU PF official, Dr. Masimba Mavaza, has responded to allegations of threatening journalist Simba Chikanza over a story related to the First Lady’s upcoming visit to London.

Dr Masimba Mavaza

Dr. Mavaza’s full response is as follows:

“The program to which the First Lady of Zimbabwe was invited to attend was not organized by herself.

“The First Lady was invited by His Excellency, the Ambassador of Zimbabwe. The program is being arranged and organized by the embassy.

“The trip is being financed from private sources. The First Lady has not accepted the invitation yet, and it is mischievous to say that she invited herself to a program.

“Furthermore, the First Lady has a very busy schedule, and she has no time to respond to speculation. The First Lady’s team is not more than five people, so the fifty people talked about is just an imagination.

“The cooking competition puts the Zimbabwean culture on the world map, and it will be a great honour to have the First Lady promoting our culture through food. Hukama igasva. If you know, you know. I have not threatened Simba, but simply requested to meet him in a peaceful, brotherly, and friendly manner. Please put the record straight.”

Malema Says Zanu PF Is A Criminal Syndicate That Steals Elections

By A Correspondent| South African opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has labelled the ruling Zanu PF party as a criminal syndicate that uses the army and the police to intimidate people and steal elections.

Speaking on The Daily Thetha show, Malema did not mince his words describing Zanu PF as a syndicate of criminals who abuses state institutions to retain power.

“If you go to Zimbabwe, Zanu PF is not a popular party, it’s a criminal syndicate that steals elections, uses the army and the police to intimidate people,” said Malema.

“Powerful Witch Doctor for ED” After Failing to Stop Lightning and Zim Hyenas Killing Mnangagwa’s People EnMasse, Threatens US Govt With Death-Plague Over Sanctions

‘Witch Doctor for ED’ Issues Dire Threat to the U.S. Amidst Local Turmoil**

By Farai D Hove | In a shocking revelation, a self-proclaimed ZANU PF-aligned spirit medium, known as ‘Moyo Chirandu’, has threatened the United States of America with a mysterious plague of death. This ultimatum comes in retaliation for the U.S. sanctions against the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, accused of civilian atrocities and multiple political coups since 1 August 2018.

Speaking at a controversial anti-sanctions rally, Chirandu announced: “I want to inform you that Zimbabwe is deeply spiritual, leaning on our ancestors. It has been decided that we are now intervening. Let me warn the Americans and the British: we possess powers beyond earthly comprehension. We may not have weapons, but our sticks and our snuff hold immense power. Prepare for mysterious happenings in your nations. The founders of these sanctions, and those who believe in their imposition, will experience mysterious deaths. We give you one year to lift these sanctions or face the wrath of our spiritual forces.”

This ominous proclamation comes amidst a series of calamities plaguing key figures in Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration. Recent events include unexplained lightning strikes and hyena attacks, claiming the lives of many relatives of those allegedly involved in manipulating the 2023 elections. Tragically, even a Zimbabwe Electoral Commissioner’s father has met an untimely health collapse. Many Zimbabweans interpret these events as spiritual retribution for the electoral violence that has plagued the nation, especially following the tumultuous ousting of the late president Robert Mugabe.

A comment from the US government could not be obtained at the time of writing.

The international community watches with bated breath as this saga unfolds, waiting to see if Chirandu’s forewarnings come to pass or if diplomatic solutions can be reached to ensure peace and security for all parties involved.- ZimEye

As He Goes Down, Any Pity for Emmerson Mnangagwa?

Zimbabwe Faces Unsettling Times Amid Political Tensions and Natural Calamities.

By Dorrothy Moyo | HARARE – In a wave of harrowing events, Zimbabwe faces unsettling times as political tensions intertwine with natural calamities. Recent days have seen the nation reeling from several tragedies, particularly impacting individuals linked with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the FAZ organization, aligned with the ruling ZANU PF party.

The string of misfortunes began with the fatal lightning strikes of three family members related to a prominent figure in the FAZ organization. This was closely followed by the sudden collapse of a ZEC commissioner’s father, further immersing the political community into distress. The series of tragic events continued with two horrifying hyena attacks, resulting in the deaths of an FAZ agent and a ZANU PF member.

The incidents have ignited intense online and public debate, with sentiments of superstition and fear emerging. “Kugona ngozi huiripa (the curse needs to be cured), watch and see more to come,” remarked Mawuka Mawuka, a local resident, indicating a widespread sense of impending doom. Another commentator, choosing to remain anonymous, added, “I wish this can happen every day all thanks to the mheni King,” highlighting the deep societal divisions.

Amid the political spectrum, these incidents are further complicating an already tense environment. The sudden collapse of the ZEC commissioner’s father, identified as Vice President Kembo Mohadi, during a pivotal political rally, and the tragic fate of the FAZ and ZANU PF members are intensifying national discourse.

The government’s management of these events, including directives to censor news regarding Mohadi’s collapse, is raising concerns about press freedom and expression in the country.

In a separate development, CCC President Nelson Chamisa countered allegations questioning his party’s structural integrity. In an exclusive interview with Xolisani Ncube, Chamisa emphasized, “When we say strategic ambiguity and a structureless structure, it’s just to confuse our opponent. We are thoroughly structured.” He further highlighted the party’s nationwide influence and addressed the controversial election results, asserting his party’s significant victory in both the presidency and parliament.

As Zimbabwe grapples with these challenges, the resilience and unity of its citizens are being tested. With political unrest and nature’s unpredictability colliding with dire consequences, the nation stands at a crossroads, hoping for a brighter and more stable future.

Social media metrics between Tuesday and Wednesday indicated a staggering 99.2% disapproval rating against Emmerson Mnangagwa, reflecting the nation’s sentiments regarding these disturbing events.- ZimEye

By-Elections Declared By Mnangagwa A Muppet Show, Says Chamisa

HARARE – Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa says by-elections to fill 14 National Assembly vacancies and 17 local authority seats are a ‘Muppet Show’ and his party will boycott them.

Chamisa’s declaration in an interview released Wednesday could put him at odds with some of his party’s representatives who were controversially recalled by a man who declared himself as the party’s interim secretary general.

Sengezo Tshabangu, dismissed as an impostor by Chamisa, has effectively hijacked the party. This week, he wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission stating that only he and two others are authorised to approve CCC candidates for the December 9 by-elections.

When asked if the recalled MPs and councillors would participate in the election, Chamisa said: “We’re not interested in side shows, the main show is the issue of having a proper government, a proper election, a legitimate government in Zimbabwe. All these things are side shows.

“As you look at us, do we look like characters that would participate in a Muppet Show?

“We should not waste time on unconstitutional acts; on criminal acts. We don’t participate in crime. It would be a different ball game had this position been created by a proper case of law. But you can’t criminally produce an imposter, a fraudster, a bogus recall which is not from CCC.”

The recalled MPs and councillors are challenging the legality of the process.

The matter will be heard at the High Court on November 2.

Chamisa accused Zanu PF of selectively choosing to act on Tshabangu’s recalls while aware that he was not working for CCC.

“Everyone knows who CCC is but they choose to be dishonest, mendacious and malicious,” he said.

Tshabangu recalled 14 MPs, nine senators and 17 councillors just over a month after they were sworn-in following elections on August 23.

Tshabangu appeared to profit from the CCC’s lack of structures and a known constitution by imposing himself as interim secretary general.

Chamisa Finally Humiltates Mudenda, Mnangagwa

CCC President Nelson Chamisa Addresses Allegations Regarding Party’s Structure

By Farai D Hove | Amidst the growing unrest and political turmoil, CCC President Nelson Chamisa has stepped forward to counter allegations questioning the structural integrity of his party. This revelation comes as a significant move to counteract the growing narrative of Chamisa leading a party without concrete structures.

Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of Parliament, in a sudden move, recalled Chamisa’s MPs. This decision was reportedly made based on the instructions from a lesser-known individual, Tsabangu Sezengo, who self-proclaimed himself as the CCC’s Secretary General. The rationale behind such a recall is unclear, but speculation suggests it’s an attempt to undermine Chamisa’s leadership and the strength of the CCC.

In an exclusive interview with Xolisani Ncube, Chamisa clarified his party’s stance. “When we say strategic ambiguity and a structureless structure, it’s just to confuse our opponent, and it doesn’t mean that we are not structured. We are thoroughly structured,” Chamisa stated.

Elaborating on the party’s reach and influence, Chamisa added, “We have a footprint far and wide across the whole country. You go to rural areas. We are everywhere in every village… we have dominated and this is what explains even in a flawed and bogus election like the one we had, we won emphatically, the Presidency.”

Chamisa did not shy away from addressing the controversial election results. “We won but we were not declared, Mr Mnangagwa is the one who was declared but he did not win, and there is no better evidence to that than what he has shown. There has not been ability and capacity within their rank and file to even celebrate because they know that they did not win. Even amongst themselves, they know that they did not win this election. So we did win because of a structured approach, a formidable approach. We won the majority in parliament. Apart from the 104 MPs that they have allocated to us, we won much more. In fact we had a majority in parliament, even local authorities…”.”

Highlighting the strength and success of his party, Chamisa said his strategic and structured approach is the reason behind his significant victory.

He said not only did they secure the Presidency, but they also won the majority in parliament.

As the political landscape remains tense, Chamisa’s declaration serves as a beacon of hope for his supporters, reaffirming the party’s strength and vision for the country’s future.

Judiciary Must Serve All, Leave No One Behind: MISA

MISA Regional Director Dr Tabani Moyo has called on the judiciary services to be accessible to all and not leave anyone behind, particularly the marginalised and vulnerable groups, as the world becomes increasingly digitised.

Dr Moyo was speaking at this year’s Southern and Eastern Africa Chief Justices’ Forum (SACJF) conference and annual general meeting in Arusha, Tanzania, which was held under the theme: The role of national judiciaries in dispute resolution under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA): Application of modern technologies for high efficiency in justice dispensation.

“Chief Justices and judges, please allow me to bring to your attention that in Africa, as of 2022, only 36% of the citizens have access to the internet, according to the World Bank,” he said.

“The statistics do not further explain whether this is meaningful access to the internet. As you are aware, internet access is driven by mobile network operators, which pursue the profit motive. In communities such as rural areas with limited economic access, there is no motivation to connect these communities.

“In this regard, the pace with which the judicial services are migrating to online platforms must be alive to these realities and ensure that these marginalised communities are not left behind as they are not connected …”

The MISA Regional Director stressed the need for a structured migration approach that is responsive to the societal realities that the majority of the people of the continent need to be connected or meaningfully connected.

Dr Moyo proposed that the judicial services should take a vested interest towards ensuring that the universal service and access funds in their respective countries are managed in a transparent and accountable manner and utilised to expand affordable internet access so that judicial services are accessible to all.

Universal service and access funds are a funding mechanism to incentivise the expansion of mobile telephony and internet services in remote and underserved locations.

Dr Moyo said there is need for a conversation on the prioritisation of spectrum in the short term towards providing online judicial platforms at no cost to bridge the digital divide between those who are connected and the majority who are still to be connected.

Dr Moyo was one of the discussants on the session that tackled the topic: The role of modern technologies in dispute resolution in national courts, tribunals, and other regional courts.

Justice Said Kalunde, a judge in the High Court of Tanzania, gave the main presentation, while Justice Adelino Manuel Muchanga, Chief Justice of Mozambique, moderated the session.

This year’s engagements were officially opened by President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania on 23 October 2023.

The conference brought together Chief Justices from Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Mozambique, Seychelles, Botswana, Angola, Zanzibar, Malawi, Lesotho, Mauritius, Zambia and South Africa.

In 2022, MISA was one of the five collaborative partners with SACJF, organising its historic symposium on 21 and 22 April.

The strategic partners included the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), International Commission of Jurists Kenya (ICJ-K), Advancing Rights in Southern Africa (ARISA), and the American Bar Association among others.

The 2023 symposium brought together 12 Chief Justices under one roof for the first time since the forum’s formation in 2003.

Zimsec Exam Fraud

Eight Arrested in Zimsec Examination Fraud Scandal, Including a 52-Year-Old Impersonator.

HARARE – The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) announced the arrest of eight individuals, including a 52-year-old man, in connection with various fraudulent activities related to examinations. Among the allegations is an attempt by one suspect to impersonate an exam candidate.

Zimsec clarified in a statement that no candidate has had pre-access to the 2023 examination papers. However, arrests ensued after a suspect was found circulating a fake Mathematics paper, leading to the apprehension of a Midlands State University student and an Ordinary Level student from Emmanuel Centre of Excellence in Harare.

Cole Mutandwa, from Kuwadzana, was detained for advertising and selling counterfeit Zimsec papers. Upon questioning, he implicated Paddington Nhedza, a university student, as his source. Nhedza, in turn, linked the fraud to Alishah Mangisi, a student in Harare, who claimed to have sourced the fake paper from a WhatsApp group for models. Both Mutandwa and Nhedza have since faced court proceedings.

In a shocking twist, George Bukuta, 52, was caught attempting to impersonate Shadreck Mutsau, a younger examination candidate. He confessed to being paid for this scheme. Meanwhile, Simbarashe Chifura was reported for trying to smuggle an exam answer sheet from the examination room, leading to the arrest of an accomplice, Patrick Zhanje.

Zimsec praised the vigilance of educators and exam administrators in maintaining the integrity of the nation’s examination system. Investigations continue, with Zimsec ensuring that strict measures are in place to prevent further breaches.

The examination body remains committed to upholding the standards of the national education system and has called for continued vigilance from all stakeholders.

ZANU PF PRESS BRIEF BY NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON CHRIS MUTSVANGWA

Live@ ZANU PF HQ Home of the people’s revolution

National Spokesperson Hon Senator Chris Mutsvangwa

The President had a busy day today given that it was a day for Cabinet. Tomorrow we shall be having Central Committee Meeting.

The time we spent deliberating on issues means we take serious our issues, we are the most organised Party. We were mainly deliberating on the administrative aspects of the conference. We are not like CCC who are disorganised and boss about being disorganised. They say we want to be invisible because we fear security personnel but security personnel are not the voters. Why are you scared to face the people it’s because you are a power grabber, he grabbed power from Tsvangirai in Buhera.

CCC takes instructions from the West unfortunately the West do not tell him how to organise a Party. He comes through emissaries to the President wanting to strike a deal in the absence of CCC leadership. This is not what ZANU PF does, we are an organised Party. We always looking forward never backwards.

Elections are over we are now focusing on governance. As we enter the summer cropping season we are now focusing on how to counter the Cyclone El Nino. Our focus in Gweru will be how to deliver better life for our people. Our delegates who will be over 3000 comes from different generations. The wapusa wapusa party can not go to court because they don’t have a document to authenticate themselves. Chamisa and Tshabangu are from the same Party and they all claim similar rights to the Party because it’s a wapusa wapusa party.

Our message resonates with the electorate. We believe as we go into 2028 more and more people will drift towards ZANU PF as we will be pushing our rural industrialisation program. We have top 6 Lithium billionaires in Zimbabwe working. ZANU PF is developing cities the CCC is only obsessed with going to State House.

The CCC always see toxicity in the country but if the situation is like that in Zimbabwe then why are investors flocking our country. Investors are coming in the country because they are seeing what the President is doing in terms of attracting investment. Delegates in Gweru will be appraised of what the President is doing around issues of development and investment promotion. The issue of drugs was also discussed.

The CCC can not accept result of an election where they would have lost. They only accept results where they win. American money is supported by Saudi Arabia. If Saudi Arabia refuses America will be chocked like what is happening now.

All the US dollars we are seeing now are new because we are selling our gold. Our young men who are digging gold are bringing in US dollars. These dollars are our money because America stopped giving us money from the time they imposed sanctions here. So all the US dollars we see is earned by Zimbabwe not donations. We are digging money here in Zimbabwe. We are a people centered Party we care for the welfare of our people.

The EU now recognise that ZIMBABWE has resources and they can not afford to ignore our resources. We have intelligent and alert people who see what is happening in the economy.

Tomorrow is Antisanction Day, people will be marching to Africa Unity Square. There was unison in terms of how African leaders are calling for the West to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe an issues which is disturbing the West. The EU wants democracy but they don’t want the same to happen in CCC. If they want democracy they should first teach CCC democracy 101. Chamisa was not elected in his Party.

We also discussed the issue of Israel and Palestine. The people of Palestine continue to be bombarded. We condemn what Israel is doing to Palestinians for supporting a political Party Hamas which is always winning elections. It is not right for the West to support Israel who is literally carrying out a genocide on the people of Palestine. Why can’t Israel be generous enough to let them enjoy their freedom instead of living under apartheid.

Our President is working hard at local and international level to make sure the people of Zimbabwe live a better life. We want to ensure that our economy creates more opportunities for our people. Recently the IMF revised upward growth rate for Zimbabwe. Our President never tires in his quest to deliver prosperity for the people of Zimbabwe.

Now we want to protect Biti and Welshman against Chamisa by denying his overtures to strike a deal with President Mnangagwa. I am told Tshabangu and Welshman are very close. Gonzo naChinyai zvatosvorana. We are not bothered we will continue with our developmental programs.

Mnangagwa Can’t Rig Economy : President Chamisa

52-Year-Old Impersonator And Exam Riggers

CCC Condemns Abduction, Torture Of Hon Chidhakwa

Man Steals Railway Bars

Harare Man Receives 10-Year Sentence for Stealing Railway Line Bars.

HARARE – A Harare resident has been handed a stringent 10-year jail sentence by Magistrate Mrs. Evelyn Mashavakure after being found guilty of stealing components from the railway line.

Prosecutor Mrs. Belinda Chimuka presented the details in court, stating that on September 14, 2023, loss control officers from the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) were carrying out standard patrols along the NRZ railway tracks.

The officers, during their patrol, observed two individuals, including the accused, Muzika, tampering with the railway infrastructure between beats 3 and 4. As the officers approached, one of the culprits managed to escape, leaving Muzika behind. Despite Muzika’s attempts to resist and then flee, he was apprehended after the loss control officers called for backup.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that Muzika had removed vital railway components, including the stretcher bar, point lever, and coach screw. The stolen items, valued at USD$180, were recovered and presented as evidence in court.

The stringent sentence aims to send a clear message about the severity of such crimes, given the potential danger and disruption to railway services. The search for Muzika’s accomplice is still ongoing.

Harare Woman Fined for Illegally Selling Medicines

HARARE – A local woman has been fined US$100 for illegally selling medicines intended for diabetic patients. Grace Tagwireyi, 35, stood before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda yesterday, facing charges of selling complementary medicines without the approval of the Medical Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ).

Tagwireyi admitted to the charges, pleading guilty.

The Medical Control Authority was represented in court by its inspector, Arnold Kunaka.

Prosecutor Ms. Nomsa Kangara provided details to the court regarding the incident. She stated that on October 4, MCAZ was alerted to Tagwireyi’s activities, where she was found advertising and distributing phytomed diabetes medicine.

On the same day, at approximately 1:14 pm, Inspector Kunaka, accompanied by Constable Samaneka from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, paid a visit to Tagwireyi’s shop located at Boka House on Robson Manyika Avenue in Harare. Upon inspection, they found her in possession of complementary medicines, specifically the phytomed Khoisan Herbal Product. Further interrogation revealed that Tagwireyi did not have the necessary permissions to sell such medicines.

The authorities confiscated 14 one-litre bottles of the phytomed Khoisan herbal product from her shop. Investigations are ongoing to determine if there are any additional illegal operations connected to this case.

Mwonzora Blames Chamisa For Tshabangu Recalled MPs

By- MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora said the main opposition, President Nelson Chamisa, is to blame for the recalling of his Members of Parliament by Sengezo Tshabangu.

Mwonzora said the recalls show that the Chamisa lead movement needs proper corporate governance.

 He told CITE:

It is very clear that there is an absence of corporate governance within the party. I am aware that Tshabangu signed for other candidates in this election and people cannot say that they don’t know him.

What Tshabangu is saying there is that let’s go back to corporate governance, let’s go back to a party with structures, with officials and not a party which is one man band, that is the logic not that there is something legal about it.

Mwonzora stated that the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) did not submit its constitution to parliament, making it challenging for the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda to determine who speaks on behalf of the party. Mwonzora clarified that the Speaker cannot judge whether Tshabangu has the authority to correspond with him without proper documentation. He also defended Mudenda, stating that the Speaker does not have the authority to interfere in political party matters. He added:

The law is very clear and apparently this law was drafted in Bulawayo, actually in the Rainbow Hotel 5th floor and the people who drafted it were myself, Jacob Mudenda, Paul Mangwana, the late Magaisa, Edward Mukosi and some lawyer from Bulawayo, Josphat Tshuma, we drafted it and we removed the powers from the speaker to determine things that come from political parties.

What must happen is that recalls must be discussed at a political level and when they come to parliament, the parliament has absolutely no discretion. So, I can’t tell you whether Tshabangu has authority, but the most important thing is that there must be evidence that he has no authority and that evidence comes from a constitution.

Mwonzora claimed that Chamisa’s letter to the Speaker of Parliament was an afterthought, implying that it was a late response to the recalls initiated by Tshabangu. He stated that Tshabangu’s actions of recalling individuals from Parliament gave him an advantage because he acted first in the matter.

The Mine Manager’s Role

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of

In “Business”
causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more .

Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay …

tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .

Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost .

Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

Mnangagwa Boat Sinking – President Chamisa

Mnangagwa Unleashes Spooks On President Chamisa Top Aide

Foreign nationals running tuckshops face arrest

FOREIGN nationals running tuckshops and wholesale businesses without permits risk arrest, Industry and Commerce minister Sithembiso Nyoni has warned.

She made the remarks during a tour of the businesses located in downtown Harare on Monday where she warned the foreigners that government would not hesitate to apprehend them for illegal operations.

Addressing journalists after the tour, Nyoni said some of the foreigners were working without proper documents.

“This is unacceptable, who gave you the authority to work without legal documents. You are breaking the country’s laws,” Nyoni said.

Foreigners from countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, DRC, Somalia, Mozambique and Zambia among others, operate most tuckshops in Harare.

The minister also questioned relevant officials why a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo was operating a tuckshop without proper documents.

“Why do you permit them to work because this is a reserved sector? So, how did they get the right to work in the reserved sector?” she asked.

The reserved sectors include transport (passenger buses, taxis and car hire services), retailing, wholesaling, hair salons, advertising agencies, estate agencies, grain milling, bakeries, tobacco grading and packaging and artisanal mining.

Tuckshop Owners Association representative Chamunorwa Mukova confirmed that foreigners own most of the shops in downtown Harare.

“Yes, we as Zimbabweans just rent the shops, but looking in the background foreigners are the ones who own the shops because some had inherited them from their family members,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nyoni also warned informal retailers against trading exclusively in US dollars while shunning the local currency.

Informal traders have often been accused of fuelling the rise of the parallel  market rate.

“Retail is a reserved sector for Zimbabweans but we are not closing foreigners out, there is a threshold that they must comply with. If you are below that threshold you are breaking the laws of Zimbabwe,” Nyoni said.-newsday

ZESA Announces Return Of Massive Loadshedding

ZESA, the power utility, has reported a decrease in electricity generation due to routine maintenance at its Hwange Unit 7, a 300MW production line that was synchronized in March of this year.

With 300MW of power supply to both industries and households temporarily removed from the grid, ZESA has cautioned that Zimbabweans should prepare for an increase in load shedding for at least 30 days, the duration required for the maintenance work to be carried out.

ZESA issued a statement noting, “ZESA Holdings would like to inform its valued customers that it is experiencing depressed generation owing to technical faults, which have recently happened at Hwange Power Station. This occurrence has resulted in increased load shedding.”

The statement further added, “We wish to notify stakeholders that the Hwange Unit 7 is scheduled to undergo Class C Maintenance, a statutory procedure that requires the Unit to be taken off the grid after running for a defined period. This work is expected to be completed within 30 days.”

The Hwange Units 7 and 8, constructed by Power China, were commissioned recently by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as part of efforts to alleviate the acute power shortages experienced in Zimbabwe. This development came after the country had been grappling with extensive load shedding schedules, which often resulted in up to 8 to 10-hour power outages.

Ngarivhume appeal hearing postponed

The High Court postponed the appeal hearing of Jacob Ngarivhume, the leader of the Transform Zimbabwe party, due to the National Prosecuting Authority’s failure to submit its response on time.

Ngarivhume is appealing his conviction and sentence for inciting public violence by calling for the foiled protests on July 31, 2020. He was initially sentenced to four years in prison but is now serving a three-year term with a conditional suspension.

The appeal could not proceed because the NPA claimed it was unaware of the hearing due to new digital filing and virtual hearing procedures, ZimLive reported. Ngarivhume’s lawyer, Prof Lovemore Madhuku told reporters outside the High Court.

The state had not filed its heads of argument. We filed our heads of argument long back and the state indicated that because of the new online system, they had not been going to the court and were not aware that today was day of hearing so they need time.

Madhuku maintains that the magistrate’s court court erred in sending Ngarivhume to jail “when it was clear he committed no offence.”

We’re making very clear arguments. We think that our client has reasonable prospects that the conviction was wrong. You will recall that the only reason why the magistrate convicted him was that he did not disclose at the time of questioning by the police that he did not have a Twitter account… that’s the sole issue. They said why did you not say it the first time you were interviewed by the police?

We are saying that is wrong. A person is permitted not to say anything to the police when they are arrested. It is going to evolve around that important point.

Madhuku requested Justice Chikowero to recuse himself, citing the judge’s prior dismissal of Ngarivhume’s bail application, indicating a preconceived opinion on the matter. Madhuku added that Jacob Ngarivhume’s appeal hearing has been postponed to November 14. He also criticised the state’s failure to provide evidence linking Ngarivhume to a Twitter account, deeming it “fatal” to their case. Before the hearing, Ngarivhume appeared in good spirits, engaging with supporters and fellow political prisoner Job Sikhala, who also seeks Chikowero’s recusal in a separate appeal.

Superior Hardware Boss Defrauds Pensioners Union Of US$90k

The Pensioners Union Trust of Zimbabwe has allegedly been defrauded of US$90 000 by Punyukai Museza (51), the director of Superior Hardware.

Museza allegedly hoodwinked the chairman by making him a signatory to the union’s bank account, falsely promising that he would fast-track the release of funds from the bank.
Museza was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi yesterday.

The court heard that the Pensioners Union Trust of Zimbabwe was founded in February 2011 by Florence Ruzvidzo, Chiedza Mushimbo, Kenneth Dzitiro, Elson Mhasvi and Getrude Zunde in order to support the welfare of Government pensioners.

They later incorporated Trust Kanjoma as chairperson.

Sometime in 2016, the union had a leadership wrangle, forcing the Pensions Fund to hold their funds pending finalisation of the matter at the High Court.

Kanjoma allegedly met Museza in the Harare CBD and he promised to facilitate the quick release of their funds on condition that he is made a signatory to their bank account.

On June 1, 2017, US$190 394 was then released by the Pensions Fund into the Pensioners Union Trust of Zimbabwe bank account.

In August this year, an audit was conducted and showed that on June 3, 2017, Museza had unlawfully transferred US$33 000 from the union trust account into the Briskbay Enterprises account.

On June 5 2017, he withdrew US$90 000 and converted it to his own use.

Beitbridge Businesswoman Cleared Of Vehicle Theft Charges

By A Correspondent| Harare Magistrate Lazini Ncube has cleared Beitbridge businesswoman Tapiwa Hillary Moyo of allegations of stealing a Range Rover Lumar from Godwin Mhishi.

According to the state, Mhishi reportedly grabbed the vehicle from Moyo and two other Range Rovers while name dropping the President’s name and using senior cops as a way to pin her for failing to deliver the ethanol.

In a bid to keep possession of the vehicles, Mhishi allegedly claimed that Moyo had sold them to him, claims Moyo disputed.

Moyo told the court that the vehicle was taken from her through extortion and she even opened a case against Mhishi before repossessing the vehicle.

Mhishi then went on and made a counter report against Moyo claiming she had stolen the vehicle from him resulting in her arrest along the Harare – Beitbridge Road and subsequent appearance in court.

Before the court, Moyo denied the theft of motor vehicle allegations and her lawyer Admire Rubaya made an application for discharge at the close of the State’s case resulting in her acquittal.

Rubaya argued that all the papers surrounding the vehicles show that Moyo was entitled to possess the vehicles and that they could not be sold.

He added that force was used to grab the vehicles as Mhishi wanted compensation for the ethanol deal that went sour.

Presiding magistrate Lazini Ncube disputed suggestions by Mhishi that the vehicles were sold to him and also observed that from the circumstances, it is highly believable that the vehicle was forcibly taken from her.

“It is also common cause that the motor vehicles were South African registered and were brought in under TIP (Temporary Import Permits). The vehicles were registered in the names of Tarwirei FR. According to the conditions of the TIP, the vehicles could not be sold or disposed of.

“The accused was the only person who was authorised to possess and control the said vehicle whilst in Zimbabwe. It is therefore highly probable that the accused did not sell the vehicles in question to the complaint as the terms and conditions of TIP did not allow sell of the same. The accused’s assertions that the complainant unlawfully took the motor vehicles from her using force regard being the circumstances of this matter is highly likely,” the court said.

The court also commented on the extortion case which Moyo reportedly made against Mhishi stating that it is possible that he gave Moyo directions to his place to collect the vehicle having realised that the case had not been withdrawn.

“It is not in dispute that such report (extortion) was made. It was further stated that the extortion report against the complainant was made earlier than the report for theft against the accused.

“The accused stated that upon realising that a report for extortion had been made against him and that it had not been withdrawn, the complainant directed her to his residence to collect the vehicle. The vehicle was then collected from the complainant’s place. At the time the vehicle was taken, the complainant was in South Africa. The accused could only have gone there upon being given the location of the place by the complainant. It can not be ruled out that the complainant directed her
to his place of residence where she collected the vehicle,” the magistrate said.

The court said from the circumstances, the State failed to establish a prima facie case against Moyo and that nothing points to any criminal offence and that no reasonable court can convict based on the evidence.

“Having regard to the initial transactions that were entered into by the complainant and accused and the circumstances of
this matter, it is apparent that this is more of a civil matter than a criminal matter.”

“There was breach of contract as the ethanol was not delivered as agreed between the parties. This is the reason why at some point under cross exam, the complainant admitted that he took vehicles as compensation. It is apparent that
he wanted to be compensated for the money paid for ethanol which was not delivered.”

If ever the accused took the vehicle which was in his possession and without his consent as he wants this court to believe he should have sought spoliatory relief against the accused.

“It is therefore this court’s inding that the state failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused for her to be put on her defence. Resultantly, the accused is found not guilty and discharged at the close of the state case,” the court ruled.

Calculate Billions Zim Diasporans Are Losing To Fraud If 550 Got Duped USD25mln On Fake Stands

Since just 550 Zim diasporan women got duped USD25mln by a fraudster (Qoki) who they’re still defending 3yrs later, calculate how many billions people are losing & defending crooks.

By Business Correspondent | The recent developments in the Qoki Zindlovukazi scandal have sent ripples through the Zimbabwean diaspora community, highlighting the potentially massive scale of financial loss due to fraudulent schemes. By examining the situation where just 550 women were defrauded of USD 25 million, there’s a dire need to extrapolate these figures to understand the broader impact on the working diaspora population, which stands at approximately 1.7 million individuals.

If 550 individuals could lose USD 25 million, this equates to an average loss of approximately USD 45,454 per person. Given the size of the diaspora workforce, if we were to extrapolate this data, it suggests a frightening magnitude of potential loss within the community.

However, this calculation assumes that each worker would be equally susceptible to such schemes, which might not be the case. Nonetheless, it’s used here to illustrate a worst-case scenario, emphasizing the need for awareness and caution within the community.

Taking into account a projected 20% population growth within the diaspora over the next four years, we’re looking at a potential increase in the workforce to approximately 2.04 million individuals by 2027. If the same average loss per person was to apply, the community could potentially face a staggering financial loss reaching into the billions.

Below is a hypothetical representation in graph form, demonstrating these potential losses year-over-year, assuming the average loss per person remains consistent, and the fraudulent activities continue unabated.

[Graph Here: The graph would depict a year-over-year representation from 2023 to 2027. The ‘Y’ axis represents the potential financial loss in billions of USD, while the ‘X’ axis showcases the years. The graph shows a sharp incline in potential losses, reflective of the 20% population growth, starting from approximately USD 77 billion in 2023 and reaching an alarming rate of about USD 93 billion by 2027.]

This graph should serve as a stark wake-up call to diasporans to exercise extreme caution with their hard-earned money. The trends suggest that without proper vigilance and legal oversight, the community stands at risk of facing financial ruin, a situation made even more tragic as many continue to defend and fall for these fraudulent schemes.

In light of these revelations, there’s a pressing need for robust community awareness programs, legal support systems, and financial education to safeguard the diaspora community’s financial assets. The hope is to see a future where such graphs are not a prediction but a reminder of a bullet dodged.

Victims of similar schemes are encouraged to reach out to investigative bodies like ZimEye to expose further exploitation by fraudsters. The fight against such scams begins with awareness and collective action within the community.

Prayers For ZEC Bosses As Lighting, Hyena Attack Deaths Continue

Unprecedented Tragedies Strike Zimbabwe: Lightning, Collapse, and Hyena Attacks Amid Political Tension

By Dorrothy Moyo | In a wave of harrowing events, Zimbabwe faces unsettling times as political tensions intertwine with natural calamities. In recent days, the nation was shocked by several tragedies involving both nature’s fury and sudden personal health crises, particularly impacting individuals linked with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the FAZ organization, aligned with the ruling ZANU PF party.

The string of misfortunes began when three family members related to a prominent figure in the FAZ organization were fatally struck by lightning amidst severe storms. This incident was closely followed by the abrupt collapse of a ZEC commissioner’s father, further plunging the political community into distress. The tragedies didn’t end there, with two horrifying hyena attacks resulting in the gruesome deaths of two individuals, including an FAZ agent and a ZANU PF member.

The incidents have sparked intense online and public debate, with superstitious and fearful sentiments emerging among the populace. Mawuka Mawuka, a local, ominously stated, “Kugona ngozi huiripa (the curse needs to be cured), watch and see more to come,” indicating a pervasive sense of an impending doom. Another commentator, preferring anonymity, shockingly remarked, “I wish this can happen every day all thanks to the mheni King,” showcasing the deep divides and tensions within the society.

Concerns of mystical retributions are echoed by yet another citizen, Humbara Kwangwa, who emphasized, “Zimbabwe haisi yeropa ndeye-ngozi,” (the curse needs to be cleansed), highlighting a prevailing belief in the supernatural amidst these crises.

In the political realm, these incidents are casting a shadow over the already heated environment. The unexpected collapse of the ZEC commissioner’s father, identified as Vice President Kembo Mohadi, at a critical political rally, and the violent fate of the FAZ and ZANU PF members have added fuel to the fire of national discourse.

The authorities and political figures are walking a tightrope as they manage the fallout from these events. The government’s approach to handling these tragedies, especially the directive to journalists to censor the news of Mohadi’s collapse, has raised questions about freedom of press and expression in the country.

With the nation in turmoil, these unsettling developments have undoubtedly shaken the fabric of Zimbabwean society. They serve as a stark reminder of the country’s fragility, where political unrest and nature’s unpredictability collide with fatal consequences. As Zimbabwe navigates through these tribulations, the resilience and unity of its people are under a formidable test.

ZIFA Names New CEO

THE Zimbabwe Football Association Normalisation Committee has appointed Yvonne Mapika Manwa as the new chief executive officer effective 1 November.

Manwa is currently the Ngezi Platinum Stars CEO and will take over the role which was left vacant following the expiration of Joseph Mamutse’s contract in August.

The local football mother body has been without a substantive CEO ever since the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended Joseph Mamutse in 2021.

Although he was later reinstated, he never resumed his duties as he got entangled in the boardroom battles between the Felton Kamambo-led board and the sports regulator.

Yvonne Manwa will be responsible for leading the Zimbabwe Football Association secretariat into its next phase under the Normalisation Committee.

Free Ngarivhume

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Jacob Ngarivhume’s appeal against conviction and sentence has been postponed to November 14.

Ngarivhume was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Ngarivhume’s lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku argues the sentence was passed in error.

See Transform Zimbabwe statement below…

COURT UPDATE- JACOB NGARIVHUME

Transform Zimbabwe President Jacob Ngarivhume’s appeal against both sentence and conviction was heard this morning at the High Court in Harare.

Ngarivhume’s lawyer Prof Lovemore Madhuku argued that the Magistrate Faresi Chakanyuka erred and misdirected herself when she sentenced Ngarivhume to an effective 3 years in prison. He wants the conviction to be squashed.

The state however, as expected, sent in a new counsel who was not prepared for the matter to proceed and therefore asked for more time to prepare and submit their heads of arguments.

Justice Benjamin Chikowore then postponed the matter to 14 November 2023.

We maintain that our leader is innocent and the state is playing delaying tactics. He is a political prisoner who must be released immediately.

We would like to thank everyone who took their time to attend court and stand in solidarity with our leader.

Thank you for your continued support and hope to see you again on the 14th November.

[The End Frame]

By Farai D Hove | CCC politician Job Sikhala, who is appealing against both conviction and sentence on a charge of obstructing the course of justice, is seeking the recusal of one of the two judges hearing his appeal.
Justice Pisirayi Kwenda and Justice Benjamin Chikowero were yesterday expected to hear Sikhala’s appeal, but his lawyers made an interlocutory application for the recusal of Justice Chikowero claiming bias against Sikhala.

The judges heard Sikhala’s application, which the prosecution strenuously opposed, and reserved their ruling to November 14.

The prosecution argued that recusal is not a method of first resort. There are many requirements that must be met before a judge can be removed from a case, both from a procedural standpoint and on the merits. Prosecutors were supposed to zealously oppose any attempt to remove a judge that does not meet the standards of recusal.

Sikhala was in May this year convicted and fined US$600 for obstruction of justice after he posted on social media a video relating to the murder of Ms Moreblessing Ali and the violence that ensued in Nyatsime sometime last year. The court ordered him to pay the fine by May 5 or risk serving six months in prison.

Additionally, another six months were wholly suspended on the condition that he does not commit a similar crime in the next five years.

However, Sikhala remained in custody as he had three other pending cases before the criminal courts.

Meanwhile, Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume will have to wait a little longer to have his appeal against a public violence conviction and a three-year jail term after the High Court deferred the hearing to November 14.

Justice Chikowero deferred the hearing to next month at the request of the prosecution to allow a new counsel, who took over the matter, to adequately prepare. The new prosecutor asked for more time to prepare and submit their heads of argument. The defence did not oppose the request.

Ngarivhume is appealing against both conviction and sentence for inciting public violence arising from Twitter messages where he called for people to engage in public violence or join an illegal demonstration in July 2020.

Following his conviction, Ngarivhume approached the High Court seeking bail pending appeal but Justice Chikowero threw out the application.

The judge ruled that there were no prospects of success in the appeal against conviction. On the appeal against sentence, the judge thought Ngarivhume had prospects of success but would still serve a considerable period of time in jail. So the application for bail pending appeal was rejected.

n convicting Ngarivhume, the trial magistrate had found that the politician had made the Twitter posts, and the content met the criteria required by the charge.

Ngarivhume had initially on arrest agreed he had posted the tweets, but said his posts were protected by the Constitutional right of free speech. Later in court, he had argued that the Twitter handle had never belonged to him.

The State proved that Ngarivhume, through his actions, wanted or meant to incite the public to act in a disastrous and violent manner, according to the lower court’s ruling. The court then decided that only an effective prison term would send a strong message to likely offenders that violence was frowned upon.

The decision to send Ngarivhume to jail was guided by the criminal laws of the country as to the sentence because once convicted of inciting members of the public to commit a crime, the accused had to be sentenced in accordance with the law and precedent.

What Are The Pillars Of Mining?

Man Infects Own Child With HIV

By Dorrothy Moyo | A forty-five-year-old man from Kadoma is expected to appear in court today for allegedly raping his seven-year-old biological daughter.
The man (name withheld) stands accused of infecting the child with HIV.

The matter came to light when the mother examined the child after noticing unusual behaviour.

She reported the matter to the police before being referred to Kadoma General Hospital for medical examination where it was certified that the child had been sexually abused.

The father was arrested last week after the victim disclosed to the nurses about the disgusting acts.

He was, however, last week Wednesday released on bail to today.

During bail ruling, the man through his lawyer denied the allegations saying his wife had fabricated the story as they were having marital problems.

The woman and the child have been staying at a safe house since his release.

_______________________

The act of a man sleeping with his biological daughter is illegal and considered incest in many jurisdictions. This prohibition is grounded in law for several primary reasons:

1. **Protection of family integrity and morality:** The law traditionally recognizes certain familial relationships as sacrosanct and aims to prevent the exploitation of power dynamics within these relationships. Incest laws, thus, preserve the integrity of the family unit, safeguarding familial roles from being conflated with sexual ones.

2. **Prevention of genetic issues:** From a biological standpoint, the prohibition of sexual relations between close relatives is also in place to prevent potential congenital disabilities that are more likely to arise from the offspring of such unions due to the increased risk of recessive genetic disorders being paired.

3. **Consent issues and prevention of abuse:** There is an inherent power imbalance in parent-child relationships, making it nearly impossible for voluntary, informed consent to be given free of undue influence, manipulation, or coercion. The law recognizes this dynamic and seeks to protect potentially vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation and abuse.

Incestuous relationships, such as a father-daughter relationship, are thus criminalized to protect individuals, familial structures, and society’s health and moral standards. These legal provisions are manifest in statutes specifying the prohibited degrees of kinship, often backed by severe legal sanctions to deter such conduct.

Tshabangu Hijacks CCC

By- CCC rebel Sengezo Tshabangu, claiming to be the interim secretary general of the opposition, says he will be in charge of screening and endorsing prospective candidates for the forthcoming December 7 parliamentary by-elections.

Sengezo Tshabangu, who recalled 15 CCC legislators claiming that they were no longer party members, told VOA Zimbabwe Service he has a list of candidates for the by-elections following a presidential proclamation on the election dates.
“This right to recall will give us the authority endorse and sign for the candidates. So, the party is going to use the same criteria they used because we have the data base. We know who in this particular ward, in this particular constituency was the favorable candidate (in the selection process). Those candidates are there in our database. It’s a question of cut and paste and then putting in candidates who were selected by the people.”
He dismissed suggestions that he was being used by the ruling party saying, “I have been on that road before and I know that anyone who is seen as opposing some views in the opposition is seen as a Zanu PF functionary.”
Tshabangu threatened to take stern measures against CCC party activists who will attempt to subvert the process of choosing candidates for the by-elections. The party conducted a grassroots candidates selection process before the August 2023 general elections.
CCC spokesperson Promise Mkhwanazi declined to comment saying the party is expected to deliberate on this issue soon.
Expelled CCC parliamentarian Prince Dubeko Sibanda said Tshabangu is an imposter. Sibanda says he is challenging his recall in the High Court.
“Tshabangu does not know what he is doing. I’m currently challenging him in court about calling himself interim secretary general. He has not provided the courts with evidence showing that he’s truly in the top brass of the party. I haven’t seen in court his submission which indicate that he’s the secretary general. He is simply day dreaming.”

By- The leader of the country’s biggest opposition, CCC, Nelson Chamisa, has exposed Sengezo Tshabangu’s links with Zanu PF.

Tshabangu, a Zanu PF puppet who claims to be the interim secretary-general of CCC, had, through the help of his Zanu PF handlers, recalled several CCC MPs and threatened to recall more.

Chamisa and other CCC officials argue that Tshabangu is not a party member and that the CCC does not have a Secretary-General position as he claimed.

Responding to a follower who was urging him to “never negotiate with” Tshabangu and his team but rather let them go and form their own party, Chamisa said:

I will rather engage the puppeteer than the puppets. Zanu pf is behind all this embarrassing nonsense. They are the engineers of this tomfoolery!

Tshabangu dismisses claims that he lacked authorisation to recall MPs challenging the recalls, stating that he is indeed a CCC member and the interim Secretary-General. He argues that those making the accusations failed to provide evidence to support their claims or prove their own membership. Tshabangu also criticizes CCC supporters for using the “ZANU PF puppet” label to discredit any party member with diverging views.

Chamisa Undresses Tshabangu

The Pillars Of Mining
