Civil Servants Stranded As ZiG Collapses

By Business Reporter- Some big shops around the country are rejecting  ZiG (swipe), leaving many civil servants, who receive their salaries in local currency, stranded.

Masvingo has the largest number of such shops denying ZiG, with Nyaningwe Supermarket and Bhola Hypermarket being the most notorious.

This comes as members of the public are struggling to access ZiG notes which remain scarce, four months after the launch of the currency.

Last month, the state media reported that some businesses in Bulawayo had resorted to feigning network issues with their point-of-sale (POS) machines as a pretext to exclusively demand foreign currency transactions.

The report identified Greens Supermarket and Oceans, two retail outlets in Bulawayo, among those that were allegedly turning away shoppers attempting to pay electronically in the local currency, claiming their POS systems were not functional.

Mthokozisi Nkosi, the chairperson of the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC), said the Commission would take action against shops that were unlawfully rejecting the ZiG as a means of payment. Said Nkosi:

We understand technology fails at times. We equally understand that it is serviceable, hence no reason to continuously claim the system is out of order.

Let these businesses be warned that we cannot be bystanders when they flagrantly violate consumer laws.

The law is clear that we are in a multi-currency regime and consumers have a choice on which currency to use as they transact.

We are coming after these unscrupulous businesses. Our Bulawayo office is going to be descending on these rogue elements.

We strongly warn them to stop this practice forthwith.

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu recently said the ZiG now accounts for approximately 30% of all transactions in the economy, up from 20% at the time of its introduction in April 2024.

When the ZiG was first introduced on April 5, 2024, the central bank estimated that between 80 and 85% of all transactions in the economy were settled using US dollars, with the remaining balance in the former Zimbabwean dollar, which was replaced by the ZiG.

Zim Children Abused In Broad Daylight, Who’s Responsible?

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza and Marylyn Mavaza | This article serves as a serious alert regarding the exploitation of children forced to beg on the streets of Harare and possibly elsewhere in Zimbabwe. A disturbing video circulating on social media captures the shocking abuse of children by adults who are expected to protect them. In this video, children are seen being physically assaulted by adult women for failing to return with sufficient money. This is not only daylight robbery but also a grievous crime against vulnerable children. The question arises: where are the responsible ministries to address this problem?

Traditionally, mothers have been seen as the protectors of children, but this video shows a stark contradiction. In the footage, two boys, appearing to be between ten and twelve years old, are sent from one shopper to another, begging for money or food. The boys endure the sweltering heat and literally grab at shoppers for a coin. Later, they are seen taking the money they’ve collected to women sitting under a bridge. These women then proceed to beat the children, accusing them of not bringing back enough money, before sending them back out to beg again.

This situation paints a bleak picture for Zimbabwe’s future, as it fosters a generation of beggars right in the heart of the city. Speaking on the issue, the Bubi Constituency legislator, Hon. Simelisizwe Sibanda, who is also the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, commented: “This is a case of child abuse, and instead of filming it, the person should have reported it. When it’s between a child and a mother and not at school, it ceases to be solely a ministry issue.” He called on authorities to take strong action against the abuse of these children and promised to advocate for their protection. He acknowledged the complexity of the issue, noting that it overlaps multiple ministries, and lamented the decay of societal norms.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Dr. Mavis Sibanda, was brought to tears after watching the video. “My tears are rolling; this is not right. I will see what can be done. Children must be protected,” she said.

Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Women Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, also commented on the video, stating, “All types of abuse and neglect leave lasting scars. Some of these scars might be physical, but emotional scarring has long-lasting effects throughout life, damaging a child’s sense of self, their future relationships, and their ability to function at home, work, and school.” She emphasized the dire consequences of such abuse and promised to investigate the matter, stating, “Children must be protected by us.”

Street-connected children often come from families dealing with a range of challenges, including poverty, mental illness, domestic violence, child abuse, and addiction. While family crises push children onto the streets, other factors like the allure of independence, adventure, and the bright lights of the city also play a role. However, in this case, the children appear to be hostages of their own parents. The only entity that can rescue these children is the government.

In 2005, UNICEF estimated that there were approximately 100 million street-connected children worldwide, though this figure is only an estimate, as no precise data is collected by the UN or any other international body. Counting these children accurately is difficult because they often live in fear of the authorities and do not want to be found.

Charity leader Tekwani Gutu criticized the government, stating, “The government of Zimbabwe has failed to take the appropriate measures to promote the physical and psychological recovery and social reintegration of street children. Street children are victims of neglect, abuse, exploitation, and inhumane, degrading treatment or punishment.”

These children desperately need protection. The Police Spokesperson, visibly shocked after seeing the video, promised to engage law enforcement to address this tragic situation, stating that every human being should be horrified by such cruelty towards children.

Walter Magaya Caught In The Act Beating Up Young Women at Hotel

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe — The fraud-convict Walter Magaya assaulted several young women at his hotel at the weekend. The violent attack has raised serious concerns about the safety and treatment of individuals under his influence.

The incident began after a group of women, who had been staying at Magaya’s hotel, decided to leave the premises. Their departure was blamed on a former hotel employee only identified as Davido, who had previously worked at the hotel but left due to unpaid salaries. Davido was accused a close relationship with these women.

Walter Magaya

Upon learning that the women had left, Magaya was informed by an unidentified individual. When the women returned to the hotel, Magaya subjected them to a brutal assault. Magaya deliberately made sure other women at the hotel witnessed the beatings, using the violence as a means of intimidation and control.

One of the victims, identified as Ivy, has sustained severe injuries, with significant swelling on her body. A ZimEye investigation reveals that Magaya confiscated the women’s cellphones to prevent them from seeking help or reporting the incident to the authorities.

The situation escalated further when men accused of coming to assist the women in leaving the hotel were detained by church security and taken to Waterfalls Police Station. Meanwhile, Magaya is allegedly attempting to frame Davido for the entire incident.

A woman named Miriam was also present during the incident, though her specific involvement remains unclear. Magaya called in others to witness the violence, warning them against leaving the hotel in the future, the ZimEye investigation reveals.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Walter Magaya were unsuccessful at the time of writing. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern about potential further abuses by Magaya.

Authorities are currently investigating the matter, and more details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.

This is a developing story. More updates will be provided as they become available.

Activists Go into Hiding Amidst Suspected State Security Surveillance

By A Correspondent

Four activists have gone into hiding after suspected state security agents visited their location multiple times, allegedly seeking to arrest them.

The activists are accused of organizing a community meeting in Masvingo last week, where residents resolved to demonstrate and petition the Masvingo City Council against the continued use of the Runyararo West Dumpsite.

The activists claim they were simply facilitating a community discussion on health and environmental protection, focusing on the issues caused by the poorly managed dumpsite.

“We have been informed that the state security agency has been looking for us for the past two days,” they said.

“We never planned to demonstrate against anyone or any institution. Our work is centered around climate change and environmental protection, not political activism.”

The incident comes amidst reports of arrests of activists across the country in recent months, particularly during the SADC summit in Harare last week. Authorities had restricted community activities near and during the summit, leading to the arrests of political and civic society activists.

The four activists deny any link to political activism, emphasizing their focus on environmental protection.

Mutsvangwa Claims Surge of Diasporan Returns to Zimbabwe Amidst Economic Reforms

By A Correspondent

In a recent statement, Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa reported a notable increase in the number of Zimbabweans returning from abroad, attributing this trend to the effective leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Addressing the media in Harare on Monday, Mutsvangwa asserted that President Mnangagwa’s governance has fostered a sense of stability and optimism among both citizens and investors.

Mutsvangwa highlighted what he described as a transformative period under Mnangagwa’s leadership, which he believes has positively impacted business investment across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

This newfound confidence, according to Mutsvangwa, is a driving factor behind the increasing repatriation of Zimbabweans from the diaspora.

“Now those in the diaspora are coming back home.

We want everyone to come back home,” Mutsvangwa stated, emphasizing a growing trend of returnees who are encouraged by the country’s perceived progress.

He added that the current sentiment reflects a broader national pride and satisfaction with Mnangagwa’s administration.

The spokesperson’s comments align with the government’s broader narrative of economic recovery and national rejuvenation under Mnangagwa’s leadership, suggesting that his policies are successfully reinvigorating both domestic and international confidence in Zimbabwe’s future.

Nelson Chamisa’s “God Is In It” Cup Torments Zanu PF

By A Correspondent

In a surprising twist in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, Nelson Chamisa’s “God Is In It” Cup has emerged as a potent symbol of defiance against the ruling Zanu PF party.

Despite being dismissed by Zanu PF hardliners as a “spent force,” Chamisa continues to wield considerable influence, shaking the political status quo with what some are calling a new emblem of resistance.

Chamisa, leader of the opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has introduced the cup as more than just a symbolic gesture.

Its significance extends beyond mere politics; it represents a rallying cry for change and a challenge to the dominance of the ruling party.

The cup has become a point of contention and anxiety within Zanu PF circles, where it is seen as a symbol of Chamisa’s enduring relevance and resilience.

A former Zanu PF senior official has openly expressed concern about the impact of Chamisa’s cup, drawing historical comparisons to the revered Ark of the Covenant and the Ngoma Lungundu, both of which symbolize immense power and authority in Zimbabwean history.

The official’s comment, “Komichi (Cup) yanetsa iyi! Could this be the new Areka (Ark) or Ngoma Lungundu?” underscores the cup’s growing symbolic weight and its role in heightening political tensions.

Chamisa’s persistent influence, despite the ruling party’s efforts to undermine him, highlights the shifting dynamics in Zimbabwean politics.

His ability to mobilize support and maintain a strong presence indicates that the political landscape is far from settled.

The cup, a physical manifestation of his political faith and resilience, continues to serve as a beacon for those advocating for change and challenging the status quo.

As the political battle intensifies, the “God Is In It” Cup has become more than just a personal symbol for Chamisa; it has transformed into a powerful tool of political symbolism and resistance, creating a significant headache for Zanu PF and further complicating Zimbabwe’s complex political arena.

Opposition Leader Rips Into Mwonzora For Sanitizing Mnangagwa Facade

United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) leader Elizabeth Valerio has publicly criticized opposition MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora for sanitizing “the facade of a matured democracy” by attending the 44th Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit, where Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed the chairmanship of the regional bloc.

In a strongly-worded Twitter post, Valerio questioned Mwonzora’s presence at the summit, suggesting that his attendance served to “sanitize the facade of a matured democracy” in Zimbabwe, a notion she firmly rejects.

According to Valerio, the summit, which saw Mnangagwa taking on the chairmanship of SADC, is being overly celebrated despite its routine nature.

“Many are asking why I was not at the #SADC gathering,” Valerio wrote. “To be candid, my view is that opposition parties present at the summit were there to sanitize the facade of a matured democracy, yet we all know the reality. We must hold our national leaders to account. We expect them to deliver real progress for the people, not just celebrating ceremonial positions.”

Valerio highlighted that the chairmanship of SADC is a rotational position, and that Mnangagwa’s new role should not be viewed as an extraordinary achievement. Drawing a parallel to 2015, when the late President Robert Mugabe held the dual roles of African Union (AU) Chairman and SADC Chairman, Valerio noted that such positions are part of a routine cycle rather than a testament to exceptional leadership.

“It’s a fact that in 2015, the late President Robert #Mugabe assumed the roles of AU Chairman and SADC Chairman. Just as it was then, the current appointment to the SADC Chairmanship is simply a matter of rotation. It’s important to recognise that this is nothing more than routine! It’s not an extraordinary achievement, therefore, the excess celebration, and the national expenditures incurred are unnecessary,” she stated.

Valerio stressed that what truly matters is the impact of such roles on the people of Zimbabwe. She argued that the focus should be on delivering tangible improvements within the country, rather than celebrating titles. “If we are to expect anything positive from holding the SADC Chairmanship, it should first be reflected in tangible improvements within our borders. Sadly, reality is far from this. The majority of #Zimbabweans continue to suffer under economic hardship, and we have witnessed the continued violation of citizens’ rights,” Valerio added.

She also criticized the government’s failure to uphold SADC protocols and guidelines on governance, which she said remain “a distant promise for the ordinary Zimbabwean.” Valerio emphasized that these commitments should be implemented domestically before being projected onto the regional stage.

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader Professor Lovemore Madhuku and self-styled Interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Sengezo Tshabangu also attended the summit.

The Mirror of Leadership: A Critical Examination of Chamisa’s Critique

By Danmore Chimusoro| As I reflect on Chamisa’s recent criticism of SADC and President Mnangagwa, I am reminded of his own leadership shortcomings. Chamisa’s passion for hunting is well-documented, but his enthusiasm for addressing critical issues like checks and balances on government power is conspicuously lacking.

Chamisa’s leadership style is characterized by a lack of clear policies and vision for Zimbabwe’s future. Despite being the opposition leader, he has failed to articulate a comprehensive plan for addressing the country’s challenges. This lack of direction has left citizens uncertain about his ability to lead the nation forward.

Furthermore, Chamisa’s leadership has been marred by favoritism and nepotism. He has prioritized loyalists over qualified individuals, undermining the opposition’s credibility and effectiveness. This approach has created divisions within the opposition and society, rather than fostering unity and cooperation.

Chamisa’s statements have been inconsistent, and he has made contradictory remarks on key issues. This has eroded trust in his leadership and raised questions about his commitment to transparency and accountability.

Chamisa’s tendency to label those who confront him about his shortcomings as “Zanu PF surrogates” is a convenient deflection from his own failures. He formed the MDC Alliance, only to abandon it after the 2018 post-election violence in Harare, which claimed several lives. He then testified before the Motlanthe Commission of Inquiry, denying any responsibility for the unrest and labeling the protesters as “fools.”

Under his watch, more lives have been lost. Mbongeni Ncube was speared and killed during a clash between rival political groups while Chamisa was busy forming another political outfit, CCC. Tinashe Chitsunge was stoned while rallying people to vote for him, but after the elections, he went on to abandon CCC, citing infiltration from FAZ. Now, he is being purported to have formed another brigade in the name of Blue Movement, led by his blue-eyed boys, Ostallos Sibiza and others.

Chamisa’s leadership is marked by a lack of accountability, inconsistency, and a focus on personal gain rather than the nation’s progress. He must cease labeling others and take responsibility for his actions. Only then can he earn the trust of Zimbabweans and demonstrate a commitment to true leadership.

Moreover, Chamisa’s self-proclaimed divine mandate has repeatedly been called into question. His prophecies have often failed to materialize, and his claims of knowing God’s will have been met with skepticism.

Chamisa has also disparaged Zimbabwe’s liberation heroes, including spirit mediums like Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi, citing his Christian beliefs as superior to traditional ways and roots of Madzimbabwe. This disregard for the nation’s heritage and history raises questions about his commitment to inclusive leadership.

Recently, his lieutenants, such as Ibbo Mandaza, have questioned his leadership style, realizing that supporting Chamisa is like racing a pregnant horse – a futile endeavor. It’s time for people to stop blindly following him, as he’s taking them for a ride.

Politics is not a game of popularity or blame-shifting but a demonstration of competence. It’s not just about uttering words without action. The late Morgan Tsvangirai, a true leader, led from the front, showing that a true leader should be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if necessary.

As we search for a new direction, may the spirit mediums of Zimbabwe rise up and guide us to another opposition leader with the eagle eye of vision and the fearless character of a lion. A leader who will prioritize the nation’s progress over personal gain, who will articulate a clear vision, and who will engage constructively with stakeholders.

Only then can we hope to transform Zimbabwe and the region. Only then can we expect a leader who will truly serve the people, rather than just serving themselves.

In conclusion, while Chamisa’s criticism of SADC and Mnangagwa may resonate with some, it is essential to examine his own leadership record and qualities. By doing so, we can better understand the challenges facing Zimbabwe and the region and work towards finding solutions that benefit all citizens.

Armed Robbery Suspects Killed in Shoot-Out with Police

By A Correspondent | Bulawayo, 19th August 2024 – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the deaths of two armed robbery suspects, Aleck Moyo (37) and Bongani Tshuma (41), following a dramatic shoot-out in Bulawayo on the 18th of August, 2024.

According to a press statement released by the ZRP, the incident occurred when detectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo, conducted a raid at a bushy area between Mpilo Hospital and Richmond. Acting on intelligence that the suspects were hiding in the area, police officers moved in to apprehend them. However, the suspects opened fire on the detectives, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

The shoot-out resulted in the suspects sustaining gunshot wounds. They were immediately transported to the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals, where they were pronounced dead upon admission. During the operation, law enforcement recovered a Canik pistol with four rounds and an Astra revolver with two rounds from the scene.

The deceased suspects were implicated in a series of five armed robbery cases dating back to March 2024. These include a robbery on the 7th of May 2024 in Phataliika Village, Nyamandlovu, and another on the 29th of July 2024 in old Nkulumane 12, Bulawayo, where vehicles and cellphones were stolen.

The ZRP has reiterated its commitment to eradicating armed robbery in the country, assuring the public that no effort will be spared in bringing criminals to justice. The recent operation is a testament to the force’s resolve in ensuring that law and order prevail in Zimbabwe.

Further details are expected as the investigation continues.

ZRP Senior Dies During Bedroom Stint With Girlfriend

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Chief Superintendent Francis Matsika (Retired) has passed away at the age of 57. According to reports from the police, the retired officer died shortly after engaging in sexual activity with his lover, identified as Blessing Zuva from Chitungwiza.

The police report states that Retired Chief Superintendent Matsika visited his partner for what appears to have been a romantic encounter. He reportedly arrived with a bag containing a pint of milk and 10 liters of cooking oil. According to Ms. Zuva, the deceased requested that she mix the milk with salt, claiming it would serve as an aphrodisiac.

According to the police memorandum, “On 19 August 2024, at around 10:30 AM, the deceased visited the informant’s house. They engaged in sexual intercourse twice, but after the second round, the deceased began to gasp for air. He then collapsed and died.”

In a panic, Ms. Zuva rushed to inform a nearby friend. Upon their return, they found Chief Superintendent Matsika unresponsive. A report was subsequently made to the ZRP Zengeza.

Dr. Herbert Kawadza from South Africa commented on the mixture of milk and salt, explaining that while it is generally harmless, it can cause adverse reactions in the body under certain conditions. He noted, “This combination can affect the skin, potentially leading to skin conditions. It can also cause obstructions in various bodily channels, leading to circulatory and heart issues. Individuals with poor digestion should avoid this mixture as it can cause indigestion.”

Adding to the discussion, Retired Captain Roy Mavaza explained the chemical reaction that occurs when salt is mixed with milk. “If salt mixes with milk, the sodium interferes with the curdling effect of the milk, creating a reaction with calcium ions. This reaction can have harmful effects on the body.”

Medical practitioner Mr. A. Midzi also weighed in, pointing out the antagonistic properties of milk and salt. “We typically consume milk with sugar rather than salt because of their opposing qualities. Using milk as a base for savory dishes might unknowingly harm our bodies. The effects may not be immediate but could manifest over time.”

He further explained the concept of emulsions, noting that when milk is mixed with oil (or salt), the liquids do not fully combine but rather form an emulsion—a temporary mixture that can separate over time.

Several doctors have commented that the mixture of milk and salt is unlikely to be fatal, suggesting that it is improbable that this mixture caused the death of Retired Chief Superintendent Matsika.

Milk and dairy products, known for their health benefits, have become increasingly popular, with their consumption and production rising over the past few decades. These products are often used to deliver bioactive food ingredients.

According to the Zengeza Police, the informant revealed that she had been in a relationship with the deceased since 2015, with their last meeting in June 2024. She stated that the deceased had contacted her on 18 August 2024, expressing that he missed her and promised to visit her on 19 August 2024.

Upon his arrival at around 10:30 AM, the deceased brought a plastic bag containing 10 liters of cooking oil and a pint of milk. He then instructed her to mix the milk with salt before their sexual encounter, citing erectile dysfunction as the reason.

When the deceased began struggling to breathe, the informant sought help from her friend, Evelyne Dziva. However, by the time they returned, Chief Superintendent Matsika had already passed away.

The matter is currently under investigation, with a post-mortem scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

This is an ongoing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Nelson Chamisa Torments Zanu PF…

By A Correspondent

Nelson Chamisa’s steadfast mantra, “God Is In It,” has significantly unsettled the Zanu PF regime.

Despite criticism from Zanu PF hardliners who label him a weak leader, Chamisa remains resolute in his faith and political convictions.

Chamisa’s unyielding belief has garnered support from many Zimbabweans who see his faith as a source of strength and inspiration.

Mudzimurema Sylvester, a vocal supporter, emphasized this sentiment, stating:

“Say it louder ? Your belief and faith are more precious than anything the world can offer! It’s a lesson for many Zimbabweans who claim to be Christians not to put any trust in man but to place all of it in Christ. #NeverStop,” Mudzimurema declared.

Chamisa’s public display of faith continues to challenge the Zanu PF establishment.

His resilience and spiritual conviction resonate with supporters who view his approach as a beacon of hope and integrity amidst political turbulence.

As Chamisa maintains his focus on his faith and political vision, the Zanu PF regime faces growing pressure from both within and outside its ranks.

This dynamic underscores a broader struggle for ideological and political dominance in Zimbabwe’s complex landscape.

Mnangagwa Highlights Self-Congratulations on New SADC Role Amid Zimbabwe’s Economic Challenges

By A Correspondent

In a time of escalating political tension, Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has praised himself for taking on the role of Chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) during the recent summit.

Despite this achievement, Zimbabwe continues to grapple with a severe economic crisis.

Mnangagwa stated:

“I am honored to have assumed the role of SADC Chairman at the 44th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government. I deeply appreciate the outgoing Chairman’s exemplary leadership and will rely on his continued support as we move forward.

SADC’s historic legacy has played a crucial role in enhancing peace, security, and prosperity in our region. Through regional integration, SADC has significantly improved the quality of life for our people. Is ZiG Mari Falling By The Wayside?

By A Correspondent

In a candid admission, the government has conceded that the new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), is struggling to achieve its intended goals. Despite initial optimism surrounding the ZiG as a remedy for economic instability and currency manipulation, recent developments indicate that the currency is falling short of expectations.

The government has made strides in its efforts to address foreign currency manipulation and stabilize the ZiG.

These efforts include regulatory measures and strategic interventions designed to bolster the currency’s credibility and usage.

However, officials have acknowledged that these measures alone are insufficient to tackle the complex issues facing the ZiG.

Experts and analysts have long pointed out that while the government’s intentions are commendable, a more holistic approach is required.

The root causes of the ZiG’s instability are multifaceted, encompassing not only manipulation but also broader economic and systemic challenges.

These include inflationary pressures, structural weaknesses in the economy, and a lack of confidence among both domestic and international investors.

To effectively stabilize the ZiG, experts suggest that the government needs to implement a comprehensive strategy.

This strategy should involve not just tighter controls on currency manipulation, but also economic reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, improving fiscal discipline, and fostering a more stable business environment. Strengthening institutional frameworks and building trust with stakeholders are also crucial elements of a long-term solution.

In conclusion, while the government’s actions to address currency manipulation and stabilize the ZiG are steps in the right direction, they must be part of a broader, more integrated approach.

Addressing the underlying economic issues will be key to ensuring that the ZiG can fulfill its role in stabilizing the economy and restoring confidence in Zimbabwe’s financial system.

Why Nelson Chamisa Is Unstoppable

ZAOGA Exposed For Executing Witchcraft Attacks On British Citizens

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A Scottish newspaper has exposed the ZANU PF aligned pastor Ezekiel Guti’s church for carrying out witchcraft attacks on British citizens.

ZAOGA was singled out over its practice of subjecting church members to exorcisms it exempts the founders of their own wrongdoings such as paedophilia, and promoting the political abuses of Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa on citizens.

ZAOGA whose founder the late Ezekiel Guti is accused of impregnating his own daughter (the successor Joel’s mother), plus covering up the raping of children by his convicted brother Nelson, operates a spirituality that frightens followers by making them believe that they are less worthy than other humans.

The church teaches its late leader’s obsession with corpse remains which he claimed provide witchcraft powers so that a person lives to 100. (Video)

The paper fingers the institution over forcing members to pay large lump sums of money to obtain validation, and claiming that the leaders have power to do exorcise people.

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Police have confirmed the death of Eight mourners and the injury of four others after a vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck at Save River Bridge along the Chivhu-Nyazura road Sunday.

The eight people were on their way to a funeral.

National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident.

“Eight people were killed while four others were injured when a Nissan Vannet VN200 vehicle which was traveling towards Dorowa with 11 passengers on board was involved in a head-on collision with a Shackman truck that was traveling in the opposite direction.”

Investigations indicate that the accident occurred after the Nissan Vannet hit a grid on the bridge, resulting in the vehicle’s ball joint dislodging.

Subsequently, the vehicle veered onto the oncoming lane.

The driver of the Shackman truck fled from the scene, leaving the vehicle and some documents behind.

Police have since released the names of seven of the eight victims who were identified by their next of kin.

SADC Endorses Mnangagwa’s Illegitimacy

Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has failed to persuade the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to dismiss the damning August 2023 election observer mission report that challenged his legitimacy.

The report, which condemned the Zimbabwean polls as flawed and fraudulent, remains the regional bloc’s official position.

At the SADC summit, leaders chose not to discuss the observer mission’s findings, a move widely interpreted as an implicit endorsement of the report.

This unprecedented document, which rejected Mnangagwa’s re-election as illegitimate, now stands unchallenged as the definitive account of the 2023 elections.

Mnangagwa, who assumed the SADC chairmanship from Angola during the summit, was expected to use his new position to discredit and retract the observer mission’s report.

The report had already been validated by an extraordinary summit in Angola and a special ministerial meeting in Zambia.

The summit’s silence on the controversial election results signifies that the observer mission’s assessment remains the authoritative narrative within the region.

Opposition parties had hoped the summit would address the contentious election outcomes, but their expectations were unmet.

The 2023 elections faced condemnation not only from SADC but also from other regional and international observer missions invited to monitor the process.

Further casting doubt on Mnangagwa’s legitimacy, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema chose not to attend the Harare summit in person, opting instead to participate virtually—a move widely viewed as a protest.

Hichilema, who oversaw the SADC Election Observer Mission as the chairperson of the SADC Troika on Politics, Defence, and Security, described the elections in various SADC member states during his tenure as “reasonably peaceful.”

However, he made no effort to retract the official report led by former Zambian Vice President Nevers Mumba, which detailed the irregularities in Zimbabwe’s electoral process.

Scott Sakupwanya Causes Chaos During Division One Match

Scottland FC have threatened to quit the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League after chaos erupted in their 1-1 draw against MWOS at Ngoni Stadium in Norton on Saturday.

The Mabvaku-based side dropped the points after conceding a late equaliser but club owner Scott Sakupwanya was not happy with the events that led to the hosts’ goal.

Sakupwanya stormed on to the pitch after the final whistle, accusing MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa of using dark magic to score the goal.

The Scottland boss’ bone of contention was a ball boy being seen sprinkling some liquid substance near their goalkeeper Panashe Nyabunga’s goal area just moments before Banda restored parity for the home side with two minutes of regulation time left.

Speaking in an interview with The Herald, Sakupwanya said:

“We have got worse results than this one this season when we lost some games, but we accepted the result and didn’t complain at all.

“We are complaining now because we feel that it’s not right for a player to be distracted by outside forces like what happened to our goalkeeper.

“The MWOS coach sent the ball boy to distract our goalkeeper by pouring whatever liquid they poured at our goal and all the other stuff they splashed there.

“This was a crucial stage of the game and we are unhappy that there was no protection against our ‘keeper and this was a deliberate act by the coach of our opponents.”

He added: “We are not happy at all, and we feel that if this is the way things are done in the league, then it isn’t a place for us to continue playing there because we are investing a lot in our team and our community.

“All we want is fairness and if there is no fairness then there is no reason for us to remain part of the league.”

Chamisa Slams SADC’s Integrity After Mnangagwa Appointed as Chair, Calls for Reform

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwean opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has issued a strong rebuke of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) following Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s appointment as the Chair of the regional body. Chamisa’s criticism stems from accusations that Mnangagwa’s re-election in 2023 was marred by electoral irregularities and human rights violations.

In his remarks, Chamisa questioned SADC’s commitment to democratic values, suggesting the organization might be straying from its ethical foundations. He challenged SADC’s integrity and raised doubts about its ability to uphold the principles it claims to stand for.

Chamisa’s statement pointed to a perceived gap between SADC’s professed values and its actions under Mnangagwa’s leadership. In a pointed message, he asked:

“IS IT A COMMUNITY OF VALUES OR A UNION OF VICES…
As SADC, do we uphold set guidelines and agreed ethical standards? A SADC without standards, values, and principles is irrelevant and outmoded, dead and defunct.
And a defunct SADC can’t be a trusted custodian of fairness, peace, freedom, justice, and security of the African people. We must turn @SADC_News into a community of values and a bastion and institution of the oppressed, not a club of the oppressive and abusive.
We have a generational mandate and duty to shift things. We will transform Africa. Fellow citizens of Southern Africa, we must shape this world! #NewAfrica”

Chamisa’s comments reflect growing frustrations across the region about governance and the perceived erosion of democratic norms. His call to reform SADC into a more principled institution has struck a chord with many who are disillusioned by ongoing governance and human rights challenges in Southern Africa.

As Mnangagwa assumes his role as SADC Chair, scrutiny from opposition figures like Chamisa signals potential hurdles for the organization in preserving its credibility and adherence to its foundational values. The effectiveness of Mnangagwa’s leadership, along with SADC’s response to these criticisms, will likely be closely monitored in the coming months.

Army Boss Cash In On Chinese Investors

By A Correspondent| Several Chinese investors have lost cash after made to believe that they were going to get mining rights through army investment vehicle Rusununguko Holdings, it has emerged.

Army Brigadier General Zitterson Sabeka who is the Acting Chief of Staff is alleged to have taken various amounts of money from investors promising them mining claims in Darwendale.

The Chinese nationals said their hope for recourse lay in the hands of Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission and Army General.

Some investors have got claims while some are still waiting to get theirs.

Some Chinese nationals who spoke to this media said they were being given a cold shoulder after giving him various amounts of money.

“We are in catch 22 situations. He took my US$20 000 after he promised me a mine but he is no where to be found.

“It is now story after story and we are stuck,” said one investor.

The investor gave one of Sabeka’s proxies money at his Chipinge farm’s Katsiba Lodge through one Colonel Banda.

Information with this publication says he is name dropping seniors who are not even involved in this scam so that the Chinese nationals do not recover their money.

Another serious investor who was promised a mine in Darwendale allegedly lost US$75000 for a mine in Darwendale.

After handing in the money the Brigadier has become avasive.

“Brig Sabeka is now no where to be found.

“He is niw giving me a cold shoulder after I gave hime US$75 000.

“I am now appealing to the boss of the army to assist me.

“I need to invest but Sabeka should not just take my money like that and shut the door on me.

“It is cruel” cried the Chinese national.

The investor said if there was no deal they just wanted their money back or if there is deal they are comfortable mining.

“We want to contrbute to this economy. But there are red tapes instigated by some of these people.”

Zimbabweans Agree That Mnangagwa Has Harmed Democracy

By A Correspondent| In its latest report, Afrobarometer found that in Zimbabwe, fewer than four in 10 citizens perceive their country as a “full democracy” or a “democracy with minor problems.” Furthermore, less than half of the population expressed satisfaction with the current state of democracy.

The report also revealed a concerning trend across Africa: while many citizens remain committed to democratic values, popular support for democracy is declining in several countries. The inaugural flagship report, which analyzed over a decade of data from 39 African nations, underscored both the strengths and vulnerabilities of democratic governance in the region.

Based on 53,444 face-to-face interviews, the findings show that most Africans still prefer democracy over other governance systems and reject non-democratic alternatives such as military rule. Additionally, the report highlighted strong support for democratic norms, including free elections, constitutional limits on presidential terms, and media freedom. However, it warned of significant challenges ahead.

Over the past decade, the report notes, support for democracy has sharply declined in some countries, while opposition to military rule has weakened. This troubling trend is compounded by growing dissatisfaction with how democracy is functioning across the continent.

Economic factors like poverty and mismanagement appear to have a limited impact on support for democracy. Instead, political issues such as rising corruption, flawed elections, and a lack of presidential accountability are contributing to a decline in public trust. The report warns that without meaningful improvements, this erosion of democratic values could accelerate.

In addition, the report highlighted declining perceptions of critical democratic practices, including presidential respect for judicial and parliamentary oversight, and equal treatment under the law. These trends, if not addressed, could pose serious risks to democratic development across Africa.

Mutsvangwa Cuts Lone Figure At SADC Summit

By A Correspondent| Among the well-dressed delegates with their entourages, Zanu PF spokesman Chris Mutsvangwa stood out for his solitude.

While other politicians mingled and vied for recognition, Mutsvangwa appeared isolated, wandering outside the Parliament building with an air of resignation. His solitary figure drew the attention of onlookers, including journalists who later sought interviews with him.

This followed a string of recent events suggesting Mutsvangwa’s growing estrangement from the political establishment. Earlier this year, Mnangagwa dismissed Mutsvangwa from his role as Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs minister.

Additionally, reports indicate that Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga avoided shaking Mutsvangwa’s hand during last week’s Defence Forces Day, and he was reportedly removed from his position at the Manhize Steel plant for being “too vocal.”

Political analyst Ruben Mbofana commented that Mutsvangwa’s unpredictable and divisive nature has led to his marginalization. According to Mbofana, “Mutsvangwa’s erratic behavior has cost him trust and allies, much like during the Mugabe era when he was eventually fired.”

Meanwhile, three other familiar faces from Zimbabwe’s political scene—MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora, Citizens Coalition for Change interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu, and National Constitutional Assembly president Lovemore Madhuku—were also in attendance at the summit.

Although their political influence has waned in recent years, the trio received the same hospitality as other delegates, enjoying the luxurious amenities provided for summit attendees. Observers suggested that their presence signaled a desperate attempt to regain relevance, both domestically and on the regional stage.

Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya expressed surprise at the opposition leaders’ participation in the summit, given the ongoing strife for fellow opposition figures in Zimbabwe. Ngwenya remarked,

“It’s curious that Mwonzora and Madhuku are comfortable attending a meeting that has caused so much suffering for other opposition leaders and activists.” Ngwenya also noted that the strained body language of Mutsvangwa reflected deepening factionalism within Zanu PF.

The summit was held under tight security, with heightened measures in place across the host city.

Armed officers patrolled the streets, and roadblocks were set up at key points leading to the venue. Attendees and journalists faced rigorous security checks, with access to the summit location strictly controlled. Inside the venue, security remained intense, with every entry point guarded and access to different areas carefully managed.

Five ZRP Cops Accused of Killing Suspected Robber

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — In a landmark ruling, five police officers accused of killing a suspected armed robber have been acquitted by the Bulawayo High Court. The officers, Herbert Kanyinji, Bornwell Mahachi, Amiga Shumba, Norge Rapayi, and Mbekezeli Bhebhe, had been on trial for the death of Banda, a man believed to be behind a series of robberies in the Bulawayo and Esigodini areas.

Justice Evangelista Kabasa, presiding over the case, delivered the verdict, ruling that the State had failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove its case against the officers. “We were left with more questions than answers as to when, where, and who strangled the now-deceased,” stated Justice Kabasa, emphasizing the lack of direct evidence connecting the officers to Banda’s death.

The incident in question occurred when the officers, armed with AK47 rifles, apprehended Banda at his home. According to the prosecution, Banda was allegedly assaulted by the officers as they demanded his true identity. Banda reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to disarm one of the officers, leading to a physical altercation. The officers subdued him, tying his hands as they continued their interrogation.

The situation escalated when Banda managed to briefly escape custody, only to be recaptured and taken on a mission to recover a hidden firearm in Claremont. During this transport, Banda reportedly suffered a seizure, leading to his rapid deterioration. The officers then took him to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Throughout the trial, the officers maintained their innocence, arguing that the force used was necessary due to Banda’s resistance during the arrest. The defense asserted that Banda’s death was a result of unforeseen medical complications rather than any intentional or excessive force applied by the officers.

Crucial testimony was provided by Banda’s wife, Ms. Rejoice Nyathi, who was present during the raid but fled in fear. Ms. Nyathi admitted that she could not identify the individuals involved in the raid, further complicating the prosecution’s case.

Justice Kabasa’s ruling has sparked significant discussion, particularly around the complexities of the case and the standards required for securing a conviction in such serious matters. The acquittal highlights ongoing concerns about the challenges in prosecuting law enforcement officers in cases of alleged misconduct.

The verdict has brought a sense of relief to the families of the acquitted officers, but it also leaves unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding Banda’s death, a matter that may continue to stir public debate in the days to come.- state media

Exposing ZRP Corruption

Corruption at ZRP Nyanga Traffic Section

The ZRP Nyanga Traffic Section has come under scrutiny for turning traffic enforcement roadblocks into personal cash collection points. Key locations include Magamba Turn Off, Davchards Turn Off, Troutbeck Turn Off, and Nyamhuka. In Nyamaropa, the collection points are Tangwena Turn Off, Regina, and Satuku Bus Stop.

Under the command of District Traffic Officer Chief Inspector Tandare, known as Mbuya, officers have been accused of using their positions to collect daily fees from motorists. Drivers of combis, “mishika shika” (shared taxis), and motorcycles are reportedly required to pay US$5.00 per day for road access. Failure to pay results in the impoundment of their vehicles.

The officers allegedly use personal vehicles for these activities, including an AD van belonging to Major, an old blue Toyota owned by Mbuya, and a Toyota Mark II owned by an officer known as Ngara. In Nyamaropa, they use a Toyota Quantum and a grey Honda Fit, reportedly owned by an officer known as Matawa, who operates both in Nyanga and Nyamaropa.

Nyanga’s major routes—Nyatate, Nyamaropa-Ruwangwe, Mutare, and Rusape—see an average of 80 vehicles daily, each paying $5.00, totaling approximately USD $400.00 daily for Nyanga alone, excluding Nyamaropa and Ruwangwe.

Reports indicate that officers, including Mbuya, are sometimes seen in plain clothes at these roadblocks, raising questions about their legitimacy.

Some officers reportedly position themselves at unmarked roadblocks, further casting doubt on the authenticity of these enforcement points.

In a related incident, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) recently impounded unregistered motorbikes that were in police custody.

To secure the release of these bikes, officers allegedly demanded up to USD $500 per bike. Motorbikes owned by Nigel, Isaac, Tsara, and others were reportedly released under similar conditions.

There are suspicions that some of these bikes may belong to the police officers themselves, with allegations of collusion involving two individuals, Kudzi and George, who are said to assist in extorting funds from bikers.

Chamisa Slams SADC

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has sharply criticized the Southern African Development Community (SADC) following the appointment of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the Chair of the regional organization.

Chamisa’s condemnation centers on allegations that Mnangagwa, who was re-elected in 2023, is a product of electoral fraud and human rights abuses.

Chamisa’s statement underscores his concern about SADC’s commitment to democratic principles. He challenges the regional body’s integrity, questioning whether it upholds its own ethical standards and guidelines.

His critique highlights a perceived disconnect between SADC’s values and its actions, particularly in light of Mnangagwa’s controversial leadership.

In his statement, Chamisa said:

Mentally Challenged Woman Kills Own Baby

By Tinashe Sambiri

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a tragic incident in which a 20-year-old woman killed her 18-month-old son- for crying continuously.

On August 14, 2024, police in Nyamandlovu, Lupane, arrested Siphethebuhle Nkomo (20) for the murder of her child.

Nkomo allegedly strangled her son to death after being unable to calm him down while he was crying at Zimdabule Village 4, Deli, Nyamandlovu.

In a separate but equally disturbing case, Fambisai Tavengerwei (50), a suspected mental health patient, was reported to have killed his 2-year-old son by striking him on the head with a log multiple times on August 14, 2024, at Madzore Village, Nyakunhuwa, Zaka.

Arrested Chamisa MP Found, Moved To Harare

By Political reporter- The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights have announced the transfer of CCC lawmaker Prince Dubeko Sibanda from Beitbrige police to Harare by the police.

Sibanda was arrested on Saturday in Beitbridge, coinciding with the Harare gathering of SADC heads of state.

“We are representing Hon.

@DubekoSibanda

, who was transferred from Beitbridge to Harare Central Police Station after he was arrested Saturday at Beitbridge Border Post. We escorted him from Beitbridge to Harare. More details to follow…,” posted ZLHR on their X account Sunday.

Sibanda was arrested after Thursday former MP Costa Machingauta was abducted at his home.

Machingauta was forcibly taken from his home by armed men on Thursday.

His lawyers eventually located him in police custody, where he had been held incommunicado.

Machingauta claims that his minor children were assaulted during the abduction, further escalating concerns about the government’s human rights record.

These arrests follow a broader crackdown, with police apprehending 12 individuals in Gokwe on Friday for allegedly protesting against the ruling Zanu PF government.

SADC Humiliates Mnangagwa, Endorses Report Exposing 2023 Election Theft

By James Gwati-The recently concluded Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit in Harare sidestepped the issue of electoral fraud perpetrated by Zanu PF leader President Emmerson Mnangagwa during the August 2023 elections.

However, the summit did confirm the SADC Election Observer Mission’s report, which condemned the rigged election.

As Mnangagwa assumed the SADC chairmanship from Angola at the summit, he failed in his bid to persuade the regional bloc to retract the observer mission’s report, which had previously been endorsed by an extraordinary summit in Angola and a special ministerial meeting in Zambia.

The report, unprecedented in its rejection of Mnangagwa’s re-election as flawed, disputed, and fraudulent, remains the official stance of the regional body.

The summit’s silence on the disputed election effectively means that the SADC report remains the definitive record of how the regional body viewed the 2023 polls.

The opposition had hoped the summit would address the contentious election results.

Notably, the 2023 elections were condemned not just by SADC but by all regional and international observer missions that were invited to monitor the process.

Adding weight to Mnangagwa’s perceived illegitimacy, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema did not attend the Harare summit in person, opting to participate virtually in protest.

Hichilema, who oversaw the SADC Election Observer Mission as the chairperson of the SADC Troika on Politics, Defence, and Security, affirmed that elections in various SADC member states during his tenure were “reasonably peaceful.”

However, he made no move to retract the official report of the observer mission, which former Zambian Vice President Nevers Mumba had led in Zimbabwe.

Chin’ono’s Seven-Year Cover-Up of Money Laundering Activities Under the Guise of Journalism.

For years, Hopewell Chin’ono has presented himself as a relentless critic of Zimbabwe’s government, a champion of democracy, and a staunch defender of human rights. However, evidence from the same seven-year period reveals with pristine detail that behind this carefully crafted persona lies a different reality—one that involves money laundering, deceit, and a long history of covering up his true activities dating back to 1995, a period during which he has changed his own name.

Hopewell Chin’ono name change…

Chin’ono, who recently made headlines by accusing opposition leader Nelson Chamisa of neglecting his supporters, has been exposed for using his supposed opposition to the Zimbabwean government as a façade to mask his involvement in illicit financial activities that have, in fact, supported the very system he claims to oppose.

One of the most damning pieces of evidence concerns Chin’ono’s claim that he acquired significant wealth at a young age. According to Chin’ono, his journey into property ownership began in 1996 when, at the age of 25, he received a £50,000 credit from a UK institution, which he used to purchase a sports car. This car was then exported to Zimbabwe, without proper documentation, and sold illegally to fund the purchase of a luxurious home in the affluent Chisipite suburb of Harare.

However, evidence clearly shows that Chin’ono’s account of his financial success is riddled with inconsistencies. Despite his claims of legitimate business dealings, including a more recent assertion that he made his fortune selling cellphones between 2003 and 2006, he has consistently failed to disclose the name of the UK institution that granted him such a substantial credit at such a young age. This glaring omission has raised serious questions about the legality of his early wealth.

During a revealing interview with the esteemed investigative journalist Geoff Nyarota in 2021, Chin’ono notably avoided answering questions about the origins of his money—a tactic that only confirmed suspicions about his illicit financial activities. This avoidance is a clear indication that Chin’ono has been diverting attention from his fraudulent dealings by presenting himself as a social justice warrior.

The timeline also reveals that Chin’ono, originally known as Mukusha, changed his name during the period in which he mysteriously accumulated vast wealth—a period marked by the absence of any salary or wage records to substantiate his claims of legitimate income. This name change was evidently part of his strategy to obscure the origins of his wealth and to reinvent himself as a respected journalist and activist.

Furthermore, multiple credible witnesses have come forward, with some providing video testimonies, confirming that Chin’ono engaged in credit and cheque fraud before changing his name. Some of his former associates from that time have been convicted of fraud involving millions of pounds, underscoring the illegal nature of the activities that funded his rise to prominence.

Among the most significant testimonies is that of a human rights activist employed by the NHS, who withdrew her support for Nelson Chamisa’s opposition party due to its backing of Chin’ono following his 2020 arrest on charges of incitement to violence. The activist, who has recounted her own experiences with Chin’ono’s bullying tactics, warned that his unchecked behavior could have devastating consequences for Zimbabwe if allowed to continue. (Listen to Dr Maboreke in audio below)

Adding to these troubling revelations are allegations from women dating back to Chin’ono’s high school days at Marlborough, Harare, where he is said to have bullied his headmaster, Arison Chiware, into accepting him despite poor academic performance. These women have come forward with harrowing accounts of sexual misconduct, further solidifying the image of a man who has long used intimidation and manipulation to achieve his ends.

One key example of this behavior comes from Dr. Nyasha Maboreke, whose family has expressed concerns about Chin’ono’s use of their name. In a revealing audio interview, Dr. Maboreke stated, *“Even my family have been deeply concerned that he sometimes uses my name as well, directly because if you notice he is now saying Nyasha Maboreke these times. So that he makes a distinction between the two of us. You know our lad he does something when, what I have realised is I can engage to tone down. I have already done so actually but sometimes he has got his own mind you know, CHUCKLE!”*

This admission highlights the way in which Chin’ono has manipulated the narrative to suit his own ends, using the names and reputations of others to validate his questionable claims of property ownership.

Hopewell Chin’ono money laundering chatter on Twitter

As more evidence continues to emerge, it is becoming increasingly clear that Hopewell Chin’ono’s public persona as a crusader for justice has been nothing more than a carefully constructed cover for his illicit activities. The seven years of pristine evidence leave no doubt that Chin’ono’s actions have not only supported but also reinforced the very regime he claims to oppose, exposing him as a key player in the corruption he so vehemently pretends to fight against.

This comprehensive exposure of Chin’ono’s activities sheds light on the true nature of his involvement in Zimbabwean politics, revealing a man who has used his platform not to challenge injustice, but to cover up his own involvement in criminal activities while maintaining the façade of a righteous activist.

More Abducted, Arrested During SADC Summit

By Political reporter-Two prominent opposition figures, former MP Costa Machingauta and current MP Prince Sibanda, were abducted and arrested during the recently concluded Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit in Harare.

Machingauta was forcibly taken from his home by armed men on Thursday.

His lawyers eventually located him in police custody, where he had been held incommunicado.

Machingauta claims that his minor children were assaulted during the abduction, further escalating concerns about the government’s human rights record.

On Saturday, Prince Sibanda, another opposition MP, was arrested in Beitbridge, coinciding with the gathering of SADC heads of state in Harare.

His arrest follows a broader crackdown, with police apprehending 12 individuals in Gokwe on Friday for allegedly protesting against the ruling Zanu PF government.

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) confirmed the arrests, which have sparked outrage among citizens and human rights groups.

The detainees, reportedly members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), had vocally opposed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent appointment as SADC Chairperson.

They are currently being held at Chitekete Police Station, accused of staging a flash protest at Gokwe Centre on August 15, 2024.

Among the detainees are the two wives of Tawanda Siampongo from the Gokwe-Kabuyuni constituency, arrested after police failed to locate their husband.

The government’s actions have drawn widespread condemnation, with critics accusing it of trying to silence dissent.
In a viral video circulated on Thursday, activist leader Givemore Chuma voiced the group’s frustration, declaring, “SADC must not be used to sanitize President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s illegitimacy. We, the people of Gokwe, reject this. Mnangagwa must leave office—he wasn’t elected by the people. Advocate Nelson Chamisa is the rightful winner and deserves the chairmanship.”
The protests come amid growing discontent with Zanu PF’s 44-year rule, which many believe has failed to deliver on its promises.

Masvingo Residents Demand Urgent Decommissioning of Runyararo West Dumpsite

By A Correspondent

The Youth Empowerment and Skills Development Association (YESDA) and Green Institute Trust, in collaboration with Masvingo residents, are urging the Masvingo City Council to immediately decommission the Runyararo West dumpsite due to escalating health and environmental risks.

During a recent health and environmental protection dialogue, residents expressed deep concern about the council’s lack of urgency in addressing the issue. “We’ve been patient for too long, and now we demand urgent action,” said a Victoria Ranch resident. “If the council fails to act, we’ll take constitutional action to force them to close the dumpsite.”

The ongoing conflict between residents and the council centers on the dumpsite’s proximity to homes (less than 200m) and the resulting health risks, including respiratory diseases, pungent stench, and perennial fires.

Stakeholders, including residents’ organizations and the Masvingo Environmental Management Agency (EMA), share concerns about the dumpsite’s environmental and health impacts. They urge the council to expedite the opening of the new Cambria farm landfill and close the old dumpsite.

YESDA and Green Institute Trust jointly condemned the continued use of Runyararo West dumpsite and encouraged residents to peacefully engage the council until the matter is resolved. “Residents have the constitutional right to demand responsiveness from public officials,” they said. “If officials fail to respond, residents can petition or hold peaceful demonstrations, as enshrined in section 59 of Zimbabwe’s constitution.”

High Court Ends Demolition Of People’s Houses, Govt Told To Amend The Law

The High court has dismantled an archaic and obnoxious law, which several local authorities had abused for several years to demolish people’s houses across the country.

In 2020, Chitungwiza Municipality issued and published a demolition order in the state-run Herald newspaper, wherein the local authority indicated that some residents with houses situated in specific areas of St Mary’s, Zengeza, Seke and Nyatsime suburbs in Chitungwiza, had to demolish their houses for the reason that the stands on which the houses were built on and the houses, were reportedly constructed without the local authority’s approval.

In issuing the demolition order, Chitungwiza Municipality said it was acting in terms of provisions of section 32 and 37 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act.

This then compelled some aggrieved residents represented by Chitungwiza Residents Trust (CHITREST) to file an application in 2020 seeking an order of declaration of constitutional invalidity of some offensive by-laws, which permitted local authorities to demolish houses without obtaining a court order as is required by the Constitution.

In the application, CHITREST, which was represented by Tinashe ChinopfukutwaPaidamoyo Saurombe and Kelvin Kabaya of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, asked the High Court to issue an order impugning section 32(2)(c) and (d) of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act as well as section 37(1)(a)(i) of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act.

Chinopfukutwa, Saurombe and Kabaya argued that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and any law which is inconsistent with it is invalid to the extent of the inconsistency hence section 32(2)(c) and (d) and section 37(1)(a)(i) of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act, are inconsistent with the provisions of section 74 of the Constitution.

The human rights lawyers requested the High Court to issue an order declaring the said offending provisions constitutionally invalid because section 32(2)(c) and (d) as well as section 37(1)(a)(i) of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act, infringes section 74 of the Constitution, which confers a right on people against arbitrary eviction from their homes.

Chinopfukutwa, Saurombe and Kabaya also requested the High Court to declare the demolition order issued by Chitungwiza Municipality in 2020 as invalid.

Apart from Chitungwiza Municipality, CHITREST also cited Local Government and Public Works Minister Hon. Daniel Garwe, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Hon. Ziyambi Ziyambi and Attorney-General Virginia Mabhiza, as respondents in their application.

Now, the High Court has taken a significant step in securing a lasting solution to the recurring problem of arbitrary demolitions in Zimbabwe after Justice Never Katiyo recently granted an order of constitutional invalidity sought by CHITREST.

On 24 July 2024, Justice Katiyo declared section 32(2)(c) and (d) of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act as well as section 37(1)(a)(i) of the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act to be ultra vires section 74 of the Constitution and therefore unconstitutional.

The High Court Judge also declared the demolition order issued by Chitungwiza Municipality on 8 October 2020 to be invalid.

Justice Katiyo declared that the order of constitutional invalidity would be suspended for a period of 12 months from the date of confirmation by the Constitutional Court in order to enable Hon. Garwe, Mabhiza and Hon. Ziyambi to amend the impugned legislation so that it complies with section 74 of the Constitution.

So Mnangagwa Wants To Snub Donor Assistance?

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for SADC member states to reduce their reliance on donor aid and Western assistance, advocating for the use of existing resources and educational advancements to drive industrialization.

During a public lecture at the University of Zimbabwe, where he addressed students, industrialists, and regional representatives, Mnangagwa emphasized the need for SADC to move beyond dependency. He stated that the region must leverage its own resources and innovative capacities to foster industrial and economic growth.

Mnangagwa remarked, “In Zimbabwe, we say, ‘A country is built, governed, and prayed for by its people.’ This highlights the significant responsibility we all share in driving our nations’ development both individually and collectively.”

He continued, “The era of depending on external support to develop our economies and provide services is over. The founders of SADC achieved political liberation, and it is now our task to move away from this perpetual dependency. We must identify imported goods that can be produced locally and harness the talents of our innovators and institutions.”

The President also expressed Zimbabwe’s readiness to share its educational model with SADC countries to enhance industrialization and modernization within the region. He noted that SADC possesses unique opportunities for economic success, including a rich resource base, resilient people, extensive arable land, diverse minerals, and a favorable climate.

Mnangagwa stressed the importance of reconfiguring the education system to produce skilled innovators and industrialists capable of meeting local needs. He highlighted Zimbabwe’s Education 5.0 philosophy, which emphasizes research, innovation, and industrialization as key components at all educational levels.

“Transforming our educational space to foster innovation and industry is crucial for regional development. By aligning our education, research, and technological frameworks, we can unlock significant value from our natural resources and human capacities,” he said.

Earlier, President Mnangagwa, along with Vice Presidents General (Rtd) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga and Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi, toured exhibitions and a vehicle number plate manufacturing plant at the University of Zimbabwe. The university showcased over 40 products, reflecting its commitment to the industrialization agenda.

‘Mboro’ to Spend Weekend in Jail

Pastor Paseka ‘Mboro’ Motsoeneng will spend another weekend in custody after police failed to verify his home address. Mboro, along with his relative and bodyguard Vincent Baloi, was arrested last week following an incident where they allegedly kidnapped Mboro’s grandchildren from a local school.

Court proceedings were delayed due to the police’s failure to verify the home addresses of Mboro and his co-accused for their bail applications.

The trio appeared in Palm Ridge Magistrates Court in the East Rand today for their second bail hearing. In his bail affidavit, Mboro argued that his incarceration is detrimental to his congregation, who rely on him both spiritually and financially.

In contrast, Baloi stated that he could only afford bail of R500 due to financial strain from family responsibilities. The state has announced its intention to oppose bail for all three accused. The case has been postponed to Monday to allow time for the verification of the accused’s addresses.

Kaitano Tembo Joins Sekhukhune United

Kaitano Tembo has returned at South African top-flight side Sekhukhune United.

The Zimbabwean gaffer has been appointed as the club’s new senior coach, to work alongside head coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

Tembo previously led Babina Noko in June 2022 but departed in November of the same year due to a string of disappointing results in the PSL.

His latest appointment marks his return to football management after having been without a job following his sacking at Richards Bay on Christmas day last year.

A statement by Sekhukhune reads:

“In preparation for the new and exciting 2024/25 Betway Premiership season and to meet the demands of another CAF Confederation Cup campaign, Sekhukhune United have made some changes to the technical team.

“We are therefore delighted to welcome back to the fold as Head Coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

He will be joined on the bench by another familiar face, in Kaitano Tembo. The latter fills the Senior Coach position vacated by McDonald Makhubedu, who will take up the role of Babina Noko’s Sporting Director.

“Completing the technical team line-up are Assistant Coach Paulus Masehe and Nascent Nkhwashu who retains his position as Goalkeeper Coach.”

Zanu PF Stalwart Mocks Poor People

By A Correspondent

In a provocative statement, Taurai Kandishaya, a Zanu PF Youth League official, has stirred controversy by suggesting that the ruling party’s detractors are primarily impoverished individuals.

On Friday, Kandishaya claimed, “President ED Mnangagwa vanovengwa nevanhu vasina basa,” which translates to “President ED Mnangagwa is hated by useless people,” and further asserted, “Hakuna munhu anotuka ZANU PF anemombe,” meaning “No one who criticizes ZANU PF is wealthy.”

Kandishaya’s remarks have attracted significant attention and criticism, as they seem to imply a direct correlation between poverty and criticism of the ruling party. His comments suggest that dissatisfaction with the government is linked to socioeconomic status, particularly targeting those who are financially disadvantaged.

Critics argue that such statements oversimplify the complex issues surrounding governance and public opinion.

They point out that political criticism often transcends economic status, reflecting broader concerns about governance, corruption, and policy effectiveness. This view highlights the need for a nuanced understanding of political dissent rather than attributing it solely to economic hardship.

Supporters of Kandishaya’s perspective may argue that addressing economic issues could mitigate some of the criticisms faced by the government. However, this position also raises questions about the inclusivity of political discourse and whether it alienates those who voice concerns about the administration’s performance.

The reaction to Kandishaya’s remarks underscores ongoing tensions within Zimbabwean politics, where issues of governance, economic disparity, and political loyalty continue to intersect. As Zimbabwe moves forward, such statements could influence public perception and political dialogue, reflecting the complexities of managing both economic and political stability.

ZRP Cops Roadblock Corruption Exposed

Opposition MP Arrested In Front Of SADC Heads Of States

By Political reporter- Opposition MP Prince Sibanda has been arrested in Beitbridge on the same day Southern African Development Community (SADC) heads of state convened in Harare.

Sibanda’s arrest follows a wave of crackdowns by the police, who just a day earlier apprehended 12 individuals in Gokwe for allegedly protesting against the ruling Zanu PF government.

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) confirmed the arrest, sparking outrage among citizens and human rights groups.

The detained group, reportedly members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), had vocally opposed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent appointment as Chairperson of SADC.

They are currently being held at Chitekete Police Station, accused of staging a flash protest at Gokwe Centre on August 15, 2024.

Among the detainees are the two wives of Tawanda Siampongo from the Gokwe-Kabuyuni constituency, who were arrested after police failed to locate their husband.

The arrests have drawn widespread condemnation, with critics arguing that the government’s actions are a blatant attempt to silence dissent.

In a viral video circulated on Thursday, activist leader Givemore Chuma voiced the group’s frustration, stating, “SADC must not be used to sanitize President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s illegitimacy.
The opposition’s grievances have been exacerbated by the recent abduction of opposition activist Costa Machingauta, who was forcibly taken from his home by armed men on Thursday night. His lawyers eventually located him in police custody, where he had been held incommunicado. Machingauta claims his minor children were assaulted during the abduction, adding to the mounting human rights concerns.
As SADC leaders gather in Harare, the arrest of Sibanda and the escalating crackdown on opposition figures are likely to cast a dark shadow over the summit, raising serious questions about the state of democracy and human rights in Zimbabwe.

Curfew In Harare

By Political Reporter- The military has imposed a silent curfew in the Harare city centre until the end of the ongoing  SADC Summit.

Workers from fast-food outlets and those who do night duties are being threatened by police while moving around town after 9 PM.

One employee shared in their WhatsApp group that they faced intimidation from the police for being out after “curfew”. Said the employee:

(We were) threatened by police while closing doors at (name of shop supplied). They asked us what we were still doing in town after 9 PM.

Another employee said that it was challenging for workers finishing their shifts late to find transportation, as the kombi had been driven out of town. Said the employee:

We were chased after by the police. They did not care that we were in our uniforms. Now there is no transport, allcommuter omnibuses have been chased out of town. Be careful guys.

Along Julius Nyerere (Way), people are being beaten up. They are being ordered to board any form of transport they see and vacate town. Be very careful for those who are still in town.

On Friday, 16 August, George Charamba, the Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications), said there was no curfew in Harare. He posted on his @dhonzamusoro007 handle on X:

No curfew in Harare or any part of the country. The problem of people who grew up after the liberation war is not knowing what a curfew is. When the curfew is in place, you will not need your foreign friends to tell you.

And after all, you won’t even say a thing. You will be silenced to an extent where you feel that the curfew is indeedoperational. Don’t wish for bad things. We can make you taste just a bit of it.

In recent days, convoys of military tanks, police outriders, anti-riot units, and water cannons have been patrolling many high-density residential areas.

    Reprieve For Masvingo Villagers

By A Correspondent| Masvingo magistrate Ivy Jawona court has overturned the conviction of some persecuted villagers in Masvingo province, who had been found guilty of illegally occupying gazetted land and had been ordered to move from their homesteads, during a fresh wave of evictions spearheaded by government across the country, early this year.

The 16 Masvingo villagers had been convicted on Wednesday 7 February 2024 of occupying gazetted land without lawful authority as defined in section 3(1) of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act by Masvingo Magistrate Ivy Jawona and each of them was sentenced to serve three months in prison, which was wholly suspended for a period of five years on condition that they do not, within that period, commit an offence involving illegally occupying state land.

In addition, Magistrate Jawona ordered the villagers namely Getrude Hove, Lindiwe ChihuriJeniffer ChibateSteven Mufundikwa, Rangton Mugabe, Takesure KwashiraiCharles ChinembiriDavid SandeRunesu RunesuMusa Mugabe, Artwell MugabeEvias Leo Mudavo, Sekai MajoniTarirai Chivhanga, Carlisto Mutema and James Mugabe, to vacate their land within seven days of the granting of the court order.

Following the conviction and sentence and the issuance of an order for them to vacate their land, the villagers then engaged Phillip Shumba and Isabel Moyo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who on 9 February 2024, filed an appeal at the Masvingo High Court against their conviction and sentence and also asked the court to stay their eviction too.

In the appeal, the villagers’ lawyers argued that Magistrate Jawona erred and misdirected herself in convicting and sentencing the villagers to serve jail terms for illegally occupying gazetted land as they had been charged and convicted for committing a wrong offence.

Shumba and Moyo contended that some provisions of the Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Act directly infringes the villagers’ right to freedom from arbitrary eviction guaranteed in section 75 of the Constitution.

After presiding over the hearing and determination of the villagers’ appeal and in exercising their review powers as per the provisions of the High Court Act, High Court Judges Justice Garainesu Mawadze and Justice Sunsley Zisengwe, quashedtheir conviction and set aside the attendant sentence and order for eviction after ruling that the rural dwellers were charged, convicted and sentenced under a wrong provision of the law.

The two Judges also ruled that the Prosecutor-General has the discretion to proceed with the matter under the appropriate law if she or he so desires.

Former Harare City Bosses Sentenced To 10 Years In Jail

By A Correspondent| The High Court of Zimbabwe has sentenced to 10 years former Harare City Council officials Stanley Ndemera and Emmanuel Mutambirwa for criminal abuse of duty.

The two are former Harare City Council Acting Finance Director and Valuer and Estates Manager respectively.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission arrested Ndemera and Mutambirwa after it emerged that they connived and parcelled out commercial stands on land leased to Old Hararians Sports Club.

The State led by Mr Whisper Mabhaudi and Mr Lovack Masuku said between September 2018 and August 2020, the suspects acted in cahoots to facilitate the sale of the stands.

The stands were sold to Optel Enterprises, Silver Harbour Enterprises and Leanforth Investment.

High Court Judge, Justice Benjamin Chikowero presided over the matter.

    Latest On Ngarivhume Case

In a dramatic turn of events, the defense lawyer in Jacob Ngarivhume’s disorderly conduct case has challenged the investigating officer to prove Ngarivhume’s presence at the crime scene.

Evidence presented in court revealed that Ngarivhume was attending church in Chitungwiza and spending Father’s Day with his family on June 16, 2024, contradicting reports that he was involved in a meeting with 78 CCC members at Jameson Timba’s house.

The defense successfully argued that the investigating officer failed to provide concrete proof to disprove Ngarivhume’s alibi.

Instead, the officer could only reference unverified witness statements and broken-down CCTV equipment, which led to skepticism and laughter in the courtroom.

The case highlights a troubling pattern of political persecution, where individuals are detained without substantial evidence, especially amid the heightened tensions surrounding the SADC Summit.

Pressure Group Denounces Harassment Of S*x Workers

The Masvingo Women’s Rights Advocacy Group (MWRAG), a local women’s organization, recently facilitated a crucial discussion involving women’s groups, commercial sex workers, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police to address the ongoing harassment and unconstitutional arrest and conviction of commercial sex workers and women in Masvingo town. These arrests are allegedly based on accusations of indecent dressing and soliciting prostitution.

The meeting provided a platform for advocates and stakeholders to call for an end to unlawful arrests and discriminatory night curfews targeting women in areas such as Mucheke Rank, Masvingo Central Business Centre, Bucho’s San Siro Sports Bar and Grill, and local businesses like Sisk.

Since April 2024, the Masvingo Republic Police have been accused of harassing, arresting, and imprisoning women for traveling at night on unsubstantiated allegations of soliciting sex.

Women’s organizations reported that, under the pretext of enforcing Section 81 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, women perceived as sex workers have been unjustly targeted for solicitation in business centers at night.

They highlighted that such actions contradict the Constitutional Court’s 2015 ruling, which prohibits the arrest of women for solicitation in the absence of male witnesses who can confirm the offer of sex for a fee.

The organizations also demanded respect for women’s freedom of movement as guaranteed by Section 66 of the Zimbabwean Constitution.

“Since April, women in Masvingo town have faced harassment, violent arrests, fines, and imprisonment for traveling at night in business centers, despite a 2025 court ruling that prohibits such arrests.

We demand an end to this ill-treatment of women,” stated the Masvingo Women’s Rights Advocacy Group (MWRAG).

Carlo Radebe humble asks for donations once more to navigate through tough employment situation

Actor Carlo Radebe, known for his role as Duke Ngcobo on ‘Backstage,’ has once again turned to the public for financial assistance after facing ongoing challenges with unemployment.

In a recent plea posted on his Facebook account, Radebe expressed his continued struggle to make ends meet, stating, “Letting you know as my fans that I am still holding on to my game with dogged determination. Waiting for the dam to burst and for work to start rolling my way before the year is over… Been nearly three years without work. Nothing lasts forever.”

Following his earlier disclosure of destitution and financial difficulties in April, Radebe shared his disappointment in unfulfilled promises that left him in a precarious situation.

Seeking further support from his followers, Radebe appealed, “Kindly putting my hand on your heart. To boost me one more time with any donation to my account in order for me to survive my 11th hour at the gate. Have run out of your kind donations I received in April for only four days.”

The actor detailed how promised job opportunities and accommodations failed to materialize, leading to a sudden halt in financial aid.

Despite the challenges he faced, Radebe acknowledged the past support he received while emphasizing the urgency of his current situation.

    Anti-Mnangagwa Demo In Gokwe

By Political Reporter- Police have arrested twelve people in Gokwe for allegedly staging a protest against the Zanu PF government.

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has confirmed the arrest of the dozen.

The group reportedly voiced their opposition to President Mnangagwa and his government, particularly regarding his recent appointment as Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, the suspected members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) are being detained at Chitekete Police Station in connection with a flash protest that took place at Gokwe Centre on August 15, 2024.

It is alleged that among those arrested are the two wives of Tawanda Siampongo from the Gokwe-Kabuyuni constituency, who were taken into custody after the police failed to find their husband.

In a viral video circulated on Thursday, the leader of a group of activists, who identified himself as Givemore Chuma, said:

SADC must not be used to sanitise President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s illegitimacy. This is what we are saying as the inhabitants of Gokwe. We are holding these demonstrations to send out a clear message.

It has been common knowledge through the years that people from Gokwe are backward, but today we have taken the first step in sending the message that we are not supporting the conferment of the SADC chairmanship to Mnangagwa.

He must leave the office. No one voted for him to power. What lessons does SADC intend to impart to citizens across the region?

It is unfair to reward election theft in such a manner. What we appreciate is the fact that Advocate Nelson Chamisa won this election and he is the one who deserves the chairmanship.

I am not the one who is saying this. I am just the spokesperson on behalf of Zimbabweans and the people of Gokwe.

If he (Chamisa) is not the one to take the helm then we have to take it to the street on the 17th of August. The Constitution’s Section 59 allows us to demonstrate.

ZANU PF has made it clear that power in Zimbabwe will not be transferred through the ballot. We need a democratic government in Zimbabwe. The ruling party has failed for the past 44 years.

In a separate incident, the ZLHR reported that opposition activist Costa Machingauta was abducted from his home by armed men on Thursday night.

His lawyers ultimately located him in holding cells where he had been held and not allowed to communicate with other people.

Machingauta has claimed that his minor children were assaulted during the abduction.

    More Tankers Deployed In Harare

By Political Reporter- The state has deployed more military tankers and police details in the streets of Harare ahead of tomorrow’s planned protests against human rights abuses.

Despite the deployment of tankers, the organisers of the mass protest said they were ready for the task.

By Tuesday, more than 10,000 people had confirmed their participation in the August 17 protests organised by a faction of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

The demonstration coincides with the 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government starting tomorrow in Harare.

Operating under the banner “Zimbabwe, Let’s Unite and Fix Our Country,” they have notified the police of their intention to hold peaceful demonstrations.

In a letter dated August 8, 2024, addressed to the officer commanding Harare District, CCC convener Vincent Taruvinga indicated that they expect a turnout of 10,000 protesters. The letter states:
“The purpose of the public demonstration is to peacefully protest against the increased human rights abuses in the country, characterised by the continued arrests and detention of pro-democracy activists. It is to protest against the denial of citizens’ rights to assemble as enshrined in the Zimbabwe constitution. Demonstrators will assemble at Robert Mugabe Square, opposite Rainbow Hotel, at 10:00 hrs.”

CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi confirmed that some of the notifications had been received by the police, stressing the legality of their actions:
“Because of the nature of the regime we are dealing with, we will take every step that the law requires. We have notified the police. There is no section that says we must seek permission. We have just notified them. The police are aware, and they know that the protesters are secure, so we expect cooperation from the police in terms of the constitution. We are targeting to stage protests in all provinces across the country. But in most incidents, police have recorded or acknowledged that they have received our notifications.”

However, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi claimed he was not aware of the notifications, stating that such matters are handled at the district level.

Despite the heavy-handed display of military might last week, which many view as an attempt to instill fear and suppress dissent, the resolve among these activists remains unshaken.

The planned protests are set to test the government’s tolerance of dissent and the people’s determination to fight for their rights in the face of escalating repression.
