WestProp Officially Launches The US$280 Million Hills Luxury Golf Estate

By Business Reporter- West Properties Private Limited (WestProp) has officially launched its ambitious US$280 million construction project for the Hills Luxury Golf Estate.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa led a high-powered government delegation last Friday and officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony, testifying the private sector’s confidence in the Second Republic’s economic policies.

The President at the event praised the WestProp’s CEO, Ken Sharpe, for his visionary leadership in continuing to invest in Zimbabwe’s economy, particularly in the housing and human settlement development space.

Said President Mnangagwa:
“This project is not just about building homes; it’s about creating sustainable and functional human settlements,” said the official during the ceremony. “The Hills Luxury Golf Estate is a signature feature in our ongoing efforts to market Zimbabwe as a destination of choice, and it will significantly contribute to the realisation of our national Vision 2030.”

The project is part of WestProp’s broader goal to lay a “billion bricks” across Zimbabwe, contributing to the country’s housing stock and aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 11, which focuses on sustainable cities and communities.

The estate’s design incorporates green technologies and building certification best practices, reflecting a commitment to the global green economy agenda and climate change mitigation.

The President highlighted the partnership between WestProp and the City of Harare as an exemplary model of public-private collaboration.

The project is expected to enhance Harare’s standing as a world-class city, with the local authority urged to ramp up service delivery and ensure the city’s cleanliness and maintenance.

Added President Mnangagwa:
“As we journey towards Vision 2030, projects like the Hills Luxury Golf Estate are crucial in driving our development agenda. They symbolise the hard work and dedication of Zimbabweans in building our nation, brick by brick,” the official stated.

The Hills Luxury Golf Estate, described as a “lifestyle developer philosophy” project, will encompass over 862 residential units, accommodating approximately 4,310 people.

The estate will feature state-of-the-art amenities, including tennis and swimming academies, a gymnasium, and a golf course, aligning with global trends in urban development.

The Hills Luxury Golf Estate is poised to set new standards in Zimbabwe’s real estate sector, attracting both local and international interest, particularly in the sports and tourism sub-sectors.

With its world-class amenities, the estate is expected to draw professional golfers and other athletes to Zimbabwe, further boosting the country’s image on the global stage.

The President reaffirmed the government’s support for private sector-led initiatives, emphasising that such projects are essential for the modernisation and industrialisation of Zimbabwe.

The Hills Luxury Golf Estate, now officially launched, marks a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing urban transformation.

Chamuka Urges South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister to Halt Crackdown on Foreigners

By A Correspondent| Herbert Chamuka, leader of the People’s Unity Party (PUP), has issued a warning to new South African Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, to cease his aggressive approach towards foreigners, particularly Zimbabweans, who are living and working in South Africa.

Talking to this publication, Chamuka expressed his concerns regarding the recent crackdown launched by Schreiber on what he describes as ‘illegal’ foreign workers.

“What we are witnessing is not just a policy, but a direct attack on vulnerable individuals who have sought refuge and opportunities in South Africa,” Chamuka remarked.

He added that he plans to address this issue at the regional level, stating, “I will be writing to the new SADC Chairperson, President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, to prioritize this matter and ensure that it is dealt with urgently.”

Schreiber’s initiative involves increasing inspection teams by over 50% across various sectors, including restaurants, spaza shops, farms, and mines.

“In the coming year, Home Affairs will increase the number of inspections at restaurants, spaza shops, farms and mines by over 50% to take action against people illegally employed, including through deportations,” Schreiber asserted, highlighting the government’s commitment to tackling illegal immigration and enforcing the country’s Immigration Act and Employment Services Act.

Despite Schreiber’s focus on legal compliance, Chamuka criticized the approach as heavy-handed and detrimental to the livelihoods of many.

“This crackdown disproportionately affects those who are already marginalized. Instead of fostering a sense of community and inclusion, we are seeing a rise in fear and uncertainty among foreign nationals,” he said.

“It’s disheartening to see this division among us. We are all Africans, united as brothers and sisters, and this situation must come to an end. South Africans are living peacefully in various SADC countries, does he not recognize this reality?,” Chamuka added.

The Department of Home Affairs underscored the responsibilities of employers in verifying the immigration status and work authorization of their foreign employees.

Businesses are now required to conduct thorough checks for valid work visas or permits and to undertake regular immigration audits to avoid significant penalties, including hefty fines or imprisonment for non-compliance.

Chamuka’s warning comes amid reports indicating that tens of thousands of undocumented foreign nationals are currently contributing to various sectors of the South African economy.

He concluded, “While it is essential to uphold the law, we must also remember our humanity. We are brothers and sisters.”

Mugabe Die-Hard Joins FRELIMO In Mozambique

By Political Reporter- Top G-40 cadre and former Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Mandiitawepi Chimene, has reportedly joined Mozambique’s ruling Frelimo party and is campaigning for a political office.

Mozambique is set to hold elections this year to elect the President, lawmakers, and local government officials.

Chimene fled to Mozambique during the November 2017 coup that ousted the late President Robert Mugabe and his entire cabinet.

Since then, she has remained in the country, and recent developments suggest she has embraced Mozambican politics.

On Sunday, the leading X account COZWVA, known for its credible political insights, posted a picture of Chimene clad in Frelimo regalia in Mozambique. The post was captioned:
“Former CIO Nyanga OIC, War veteran, former Manicaland State Minister Cde Mandiitawepi Chimene shining in Mozambique. She has joined politics under Frelimo & she may become Manica Provincial Governor as Mozambique goes to election this year.”

In November last year, Chimene told state media from Mozambique that she was ready to return to Zimbabwe.

She reportedly met with President Emmerson Mnangagwa during his visit to Mozambique, where he was the guest of honour at the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Beira-Machipanda railway line.

It is understood that senior Mozambican government officials facilitated her meeting with Mnangagwa.

Chimene explained that she decided to remain in Mozambique due to fears for her safety after hearing rumours that she might not be secure in Zimbabwe.

A Tribute To Tireless Change Champion

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

Deeply saddened to announce the heartbreaking news of the passing of Hon. Bright Vanya Moyo (pictured with President Chamisa), the elected Member of Parliament for Lupane East.

His tenure was tragically cut short by an unjust recall from parliament, orchestrated by Tshabangu in collusion with Zanupf – a devastating loss for our community.

I had the privilege of working with him in Lupane as the cluster leader there, witnessing firsthand his tireless work ethic, unwavering dedication, and the immense love he received from the people of Lupane.

He was a man of the people. He remained steadfast, solid and true to the ideals we believe in – a true fighter!

Rest in peace, bafo; you ran your race, a good fight it was. Until we meet again!

Mafume Under Fire For Attending Mnangagwa Indoctrination Programme

By A Correspondent

A recent revelation has sparked controversy, with Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume coming under fire for participating in a training program at the Zanu PF Chitepo School of Ideology.

According to a Zanu PF source, Mafume is among a group of mayors, councillors, and local authority staff, including those from the opposition CCC party, receiving instruction at the school.

Levison Chambati, a Zanu PF supporter, confirmed on Thursday that Mafume is undergoing training alongside other officials from the country’s 92 local authorities.

The program is being led by Principal Machacha, a member of the Zanu PF Politburo.

This development has raised questions about the nature and purpose of the training, with many expressing concerns about the potential for political indoctrination.

Mafume’s attendance at the Zanu PF-affiliated institution has sparked intense debate, with some critics accusing him of compromising his impartiality as a mayor.

Three Top Church Bosses Fired

By Religion Reporter- The Reformed Church in Zimbabwe has fired three top officials for bad governance.

The three, General Secretary Tafadzwa Simba and two senior managers, were fired Friday after the disciplinary hearings had concluded.

Last year, Masimba banned all RCZ schools from dealing with The Mirror after the newspaper started raising issues of bad governance in the church.

Authoritative sources confirmed that also fired is the church’s human resources manager, Frank Shuro and treasurer Pikisai Mhizha.
They were dragged to a hearing following an audit report that exposed a lot of cases to do with abuse of office and alleged corruption.
The three were each found guilty of at least five cases involving failure to follow procurement procedure, travelling outside the country without relevant approval of the board and buying without authority.
The church did not go for the more difficult cases of fraud and theft as these would have been more difficult to prove even when the evidence is there.
The development comes at a time when many missionary churches in Zimbabwe are now being run for personal gain. In some churches top leadership have shared schools and hospitals and they are now in the hands of individuals who run them for personal profit.
Efforts to get a comment for RCZ acting General Secretary Lovemore Mashamba were futile at the time of publishing.
Masimba was the pastor in charge of the InterCity Congregation in Harate before he was voted RCZ General Secretary.

NRZ Denies It Owns London Properties Being Milked By Secret Cartels

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has vehemently denied recent allegations circulating on social media that the organization owns abandoned properties in London that have purportedly fallen into the hands of cartels. In an official statement released on August 25, 2024, the NRZ clarified several misconceptions about its property holdings, both locally and internationally.

According to the statement, NRZ does not own any shares, properties, or have any direct or indirect links with the London Stock Exchange or any properties in the United Kingdom. The organization emphasized that it has no control over any properties outside Zimbabwe, debunking the claims made by some social media users that NRZ possesses UK-based assets.

The NRZ has also addressed the frequent confusion between itself and the NRZ Contributory Pension Fund, especially regarding property ownership. The organization explained that while it is the sponsoring employer of the Pension Fund, it does not own or manage any of the Fund’s properties, either domestically or abroad. The statement reiterated that the Pension Fund’s assets, including offshore properties, are independently managed and the proceeds are used to benefit the Fund’s members.

The NRZ statement, however, fails to disclose the identities of persons who currently control plus those who benefit from proceeds from the pension fund’s assets.

As ZimEye continues to pursue them for a comment, the NRZ has further refuted reports that it owns and has legal rights to land stretching up to 2 kilometers on either side of railway lines in Zimbabwe.

The correct legal position, as stated by the NRZ, is that only 45 meters of land on either side of the railway tracks is considered Railway Reserve Land, designated for future railway expansion. Additionally, the organization confirmed that it does not own any land in Johannesburg or any properties in Zambia and Botswana.

The NRZ also provided historical context, noting that properties once owned by the now-defunct Rhodesia Railways, which included assets in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa, were distributed among successor entities, including Zambia Railways Limited and NRZ. These assets were managed by a joint committee known as the Higher Authority, composed of representatives from both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The NRZ’s statement comes in response to growing speculation and misinformation on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where users have been discussing the organization’s alleged ownership of international properties. The NRZ has sought to put these rumors to rest with its detailed clarification.

In a statement released on August 25, 2024, the NRZ sought to clarify what it termed as “misconceptions” regarding its property holdings, both within Zimbabwe and abroad.

NRZ’s Official Statement suggests in summary:

  1. Denial of Ownership of London Properties:
  • “The NRZ does not own any shares and has no direct or indirect link, right, or benefit from the London Stock Exchange. Furthermore, NRZ does not own any property in the UK as some X users have claimed.”
  1. Clarification on Relationship with the NRZ Contributory Pension Fund:
  • “NRZ has often been confused with the NRZ Contributory Pension Fund, especially on matters relating to property ownership both within and outside Zimbabwe. The two are separate entities that are accountable individually.”
  • “NRZ has no rights nor control over properties owned by the Pension Fund. The relationship between the NRZ and the Pension Fund is that the NRZ is the sponsoring employer and as such, is adequately informed that the fund’s offshore properties are well managed and proceeds are benefiting the membership.”
  1. On Claims of Extensive Land Ownership in Zimbabwe:
  • “There are claims that the NRZ owns and has legal right to 2km land either side of the railway line. Nothing can be further from the truth. The correct position is that 45 metres of land either side of the tracks is regarded as Railway Reserve Land and is legally gazetted as such.”
  1. Rejection of Property Ownership in South Africa, Zambia, and Botswana:
  • “Further to that, the NRZ does not own an inch of land in Johannesburg and has no properties in Zambia and Botswana.”

The NRZ’s statement follows a wave of speculation and misinformation spread on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), where users have been discussing the organization’s alleged ownership of international properties, particularly in the United Kingdom.

The NRZ concluded its statement by addressing the historical context of its property ownership, clarifying that assets formerly held by Rhodesia Railways were divided among successor entities such as Zambia Railways Limited and the National Railways of Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa Grabs 47 Farms

By Political Reporter- The Junta administration led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa has repossessed 47 farms spanning 15,500 hectares in Mount Hampden, encompassing areas in both Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central provinces.

Mnangagwa has announced plans to transform the land into a new city, which is projected to accommodate over 1.5 million residents.

Work on offsite infrastructure has already commenced, with authorities identifying sections for railway and bus termini.

Final plans for the expansion of Charles Prince Airport are expected to be completed by November this year.

Additionally, the government is pushing for the completion of 18 residential villas, which will be part of this ambitious urban development.

The so-called new city was approved soon after the November 2017 coup. It is also in the new Parliament building,

However, questions remain about the transparency of the tender process for land development and the beneficiaries of the commercial units within the so-called new city.

Sources within the junta government allege that the development tenders and the entire project are tightly controlled by Mnangagwa and his close associates.

Don’t Let Your Background Deter Your Future

Food for thought

By Dr Banabasi Marambire

Don’t let your background determine your future…

Recently, there has been a media house that has offered to do a documentary about my life. It is a very big and recognised media house.

During our first session, they asked questions about my childhood and the events around my upbringing, I stood there and started to recall events and memories, unfortunately at a certain stage as I was narrating my story, events became fresh and my memory carried me back in the days, I felt the pain, I see the struggle, I felt fear, the hunger and hopeless feeling that I used to experienced back in the day. I broke, my voice trembled, my eyes became saturated with tears, I held back, lights were glazing bright on my face, unfortunately I couldn’t held back enough.

In a very long time did I felt this weak, vulnerable, and desperate as I was processing my childhood events. I felt like torture. To regain strength, I reminded myself that I am no longer there, I am rich now, I have money, and I have a wife and children who love me so much. I realised the impact of poverty on one’s life.

Truly, I am a living testimony , I believe this documentary is going to inspire and give hope to many people who might be struggling with life out there.

Today, I am the darling of many people. My phone rings 24/7, and my inbox is full of messages that I can’t read them all. A few years back, I was a useless person. no one noticed my existence, but God has raised me to be among the respected people.

The Book The Herdboy and the song Mufudzi wemombe are a true reflection of my journey to use my story to inspire many people who might have lost hope.

Sikhala Blasts Mafume Over Attending Mnangagwa School Of Ideology Training

By A Correspondent

In a fierce critique, Job Sikhala, a prominent opposition leader in Zimbabwe, has vehemently rejected the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology, which is associated with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

Sikhala’s scathing remarks come amid ongoing debates about the role and impact of the school, which aims to instill government-approved ideologies and foster loyalty to the current regime.

Sikhala labeled the ideological framework promoted by the school as “redundant” and out of touch with the needs of the populace. “There are more important things in life than money and power.

No amount of silver and gold should persuade you to sacrifice your values and principles to be dragged to the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology, to be brainwashed with some redundant ideology,” Sikhala stated.

His comments reflect a broader dissatisfaction with what he perceives as an attempt to suppress dissent and promote a narrow, government-centric worldview.

In his critique, Sikhala also directed his ire at members of the opposition who have chosen to participate in training at the Chitepo School. He condemned these individuals for what he sees as compromising their principles for personal gain.

“The ideology that is anti-people, promotion of the persecution of those in disagreement with that moribund ideology and intolerance of opponents of the establishment,” Sikhala asserted, highlighting his concern that the school fosters a dangerous intolerance and persecution of dissenters.

Sikhala’s remarks underscore a significant ideological divide in Zimbabwean politics, with opposition figures increasingly vocal about their resistance to Mnangagwa’s government and its institutions.

His criticism not only challenges the legitimacy of the Herbert Chitepo School but also serves as a rallying point for those advocating for greater political transparency and freedom of expression.

ZEC Yet to Release Polling Station Results One Year After 2023 Elections

By Farai D Hove | Harare, Zimbabwe – A year after Zimbabwe’s controversial 2023 elections, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has yet to release detailed voter-by-polling-station results, fueling ongoing concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. This delay has been highlighted by Freeman Chari, a prominent opposition figure and convenor of the civil society group Pachedu, in a series of statements marking the first anniversary of the elections.

ZEC Chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba

Chari, who played a significant role in mobilizing and collating voter data during the elections, expressed frustration over ZEC’s failure to provide the essential results that would offer transparency and accountability. He pointed out that the issues surrounding the election were not limited to the day of voting but began as early as 2021 with the manipulation of the voters’ roll and the controversial delimitation process, which he claims disenfranchised the opposition by removing 54 constituencies favorable to them.

“ZEC added close to 1000 new polling stations a month before elections and did not provide a voters’ roll for those,” Chari stated. He further alleged that some of these polling stations produced highly questionable and unstamped results, citing examples where the official count was heavily skewed in favor of the ruling party.

Despite the widespread irregularities reported by the opposition and civil society groups, ZEC has remained silent on releasing the detailed polling station results, which could shed light on the extent of the alleged vote manipulation.

The lack of transparency from ZEC has continued to undermine confidence in Zimbabwe’s electoral system. As Chari noted, “There is a reason we kept insisting that ZEC should release its polling station by polling station results which it has failed to do up to today.”

In his anniversary message, Chari also highlighted the harassment and arrests of volunteers engaged in parallel voter tabulation efforts, underscoring the dangerous environment in which opposition supporters operated during the election period. Despite these challenges, Chari praised the resilience of citizens who managed to collate data from 75% of polling stations within the first two days after the election, even though they were unable to authenticate or verify all results.

As Zimbabwe looks ahead, the call for ZEC to release the polling station results remains a critical demand for those seeking electoral reforms and justice. The ongoing delay only deepens the controversy surrounding the 2023 elections and the future of democracy in Zimbabwe.

Chamisa’s vision is one of a united nation where every citizen plays a part in the collective effort to forge a better future.

He urged Zimbabweans to imagine a scenario where they come together, stating, “#JustImagine If we could come together, pull together and walk together, the world will see a WINNING NATION and SHINING COUNTRY on the African continent and beyond.”

Ward 19 Councilor Albert Mazvanya confirmed the incident and said there were plenty of similar incidents in the district and his ward but he could not help the situation as he was being sidelined as an opposition councilor.
“I am aware of the matter and I heard that the people were arrested then released but the matter is still ongoing. I checked with the police and I was told that the matter was now with the CID law and order department.
“The challenge is, I don’t have a say in the distribution of social welfare aid. The programme is being held by ZANU PF which is using a woman’s quota councillor to run affairs in my ward,” said Mazvanya.
He said the party chairperson Farai Rupondo and another lady identified as Nyaradzo Chimbwari who works at Jerera Satellite Clinic are the ones in charge of compiling lists that they submit to social welfare and they use none existing people to get the food which they share amongst themselves and other like-minded.
“Getrude Chakona used a dead person’s ID to get food aid since old people get first preference. She used her deceased relative Getrude Madekwana who died in the 1990s and would have turned 100 years this year if she was still alive.
“She also registered her husband as a beneficiary with five children meaning the family got two allocations at the expense of others,” said Mazvanya
Another suspect Otilia Chisenga who has one known child is said to have registered five children under her name and another suspect Esther Munyeketi who stays alone and has no known child in the community also registered five children.
Chimbwari is alleged to have registered her domestic worker as a beneficiary despite the fact that they are from the same household.
Other sources said the matter only came to light after some factional fights within Zanu PF in the districts that led to one exposing others.
The matter is not only unique to Zaka as there were other Zanu PF local leaders were arrested together with social welfare staffers for stealing aid in Gutu. TellZimNews

Chamisa Calls for Unity in the Struggle for Change

By A Correspondent

On Friday, opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa issued a compelling call for unity and collective effort in Zimbabwe’s ongoing struggle for political and social change.

In a passionate statement, Chamisa urged citizens to move past internal blame and focus on the collective goal of national improvement.

Chamisa emphasized the inherent strengths of the Zimbabwean people, saying, “WE’RE A GREAT PEOPLE…A people of politeness and hospitality.

Our DNA as a people is excellent. We are blessed with many endowments.” His words reflected a deep belief in the nation’s potential and the importance of unity in harnessing it.

Addressing the nation’s political landscape, Chamisa argued that aligning Zimbabwe’s politics with its intrinsic strengths could lead to a transformative “new dawn.” He noted, “If we could just get our politics right and get our nation to be born again.

We have everything. We have a unique God-given gift of resources—the human resources, the natural resources, the material resources, and the @Godisinit spiritual resources.”

In his closing remarks, Chamisa reiterated his call for unity and collective action, signing off with an inspiring message: “Blessed Friday #JustImagine #NewDawn #Godisinit.”

This statement from Chamisa serves as a reminder of the power of unity and shared purpose in the quest for national progress.

Sikhala Dismisses Mnangagwa’s School Of Ideology

Beyond the National Team: the Club Adventures of South African Football Stars

South Africa conquers the world – one football club at a time

There is a popular misconception that South African football players show their maximum potential only in a jersey that depicts their national flag, and even “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from fans does not sound as triumphant for them as the national anthem. It’s time to dispel this myth by talking about great players who achieved greatness both in the national team and at the club level.

When these players stepped on the field the bettors knew that their favorite had an advantage. And although the results of Bafana Bafana were not easy to predict, just like any other sports event, there would be many victories up ahead.

Now everything is more difficult, because the South African team is very unstable in the results, as evidenced by the defeat in the match for third place at AFCON. To place a bet, punters prefer to choose companies that can be trusted and read a lot of reviews before deciding, that’s why betfred south africa login, available at the link, sounds like a reasonable and informed solution for such a task.

So let’s continue to the South African players, who succeed both in national team and in club football.

Lucas Radebe: from Soweto to Leeds – a captain’s journey

Imagine starting your career at Kaizer Chiefs and ending up being known as “the chief” at Leeds. That’s exactly what Lucas Radebe did. He travelled from the streets of Soweto to the green lawns of Yorkshire and along the way became one of the Premier League’s most respected defenders.

At Leeds, Radebe didn’t just become a player – he became a legend. He defended Leeds’ goal with the same intensity that a lion protects his pack. Even as Leeds’ economy began to resemble the South African rand on a bad day, Radebe remained loyal. He was like a rock in defense – just someone who could also play football.

Benni McCarthy: Europe’s travelling scoring machine

If football were a driver’s license, Benni McCarthy would have stamped his throughout Europe. From Ajax Amsterdam to Celta Vigo, FC Porto, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United – McCarthy scored goals faster than most of us can pronounce “Bafana Bafana”.

His time at Porto was particularly memorable. Under José Mourinho’s management, McCarthy won the Champions League – presumably the only time in history when a South African and “the Special One” were on the same side. In Blackburn, he became so popular that even the local sheep began to bark his name.

Steven Pienaar: Everton’s South African magician

Steven Pienaar proved that you don’t have to be tall to reach the stars. From Ajax to Borussia Dortmund and on to Everton – Pienaar drove his opponents crazy with his low center of gravity and high ball control.

At Everton he formed a partnership with Leighton Baines that was so synchronised that they could have won the world synchronised swimming championships had they tried. Pienaar’s ability to find space on the field was so impressive that NASA considered hiring him for their space program.

South Africa meets the world

These players ‘ adventures in European football have done more for South Africa’s international reputation than an army of tourist guides ever could. They have shown that South Africans can flourish under pressure – both when it comes to scoring goals and pronouncing club names.

Heritage: more than just trophies and transfers

These players’ have not just scored goals and won matches; they have changed the perception of South African football globally.

Radebe showed that loyalty and leadership transcend national boundaries. McCarthy proved that South Africans can score goals in any league, and probably celebrate in any language. Pienaar demonstrated that technical ability and creativity are universal football virtues.

The future: the next South African stars

While waiting for the next generation of South African football stars to take the world by storm, we can’t help but wonder: who will be the next to make European commentators crack their tongues at South African surnames?

One thing is certain – the legacy of Radebe, McCarthy and Pienaar will continue to inspire. They have shown that when it comes to football, South Africa is not just a country – it’s a world-class export.

Mohadi Spotted In Malawi

By Political Reporter-Vice President Kembo Mohadi is currently in Malawi for a church ceremony, sparking speculation that he may meet his spiritual mentor, Shepherd Bushiri, for a possible presidential anointment.

This visit draws parallels to 2016 when Mohadi, then the State Security Minister, received a prophetic anointment from Bushiri, who foretold his rise to the Vice Presidency.

Mohadi’s ascension came true after the November 2017 coup that deposed the late President Robert Mugabe.

According to state media, Mohadi is in Lilongwe to participate in the centenary celebrations of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP).

Official reports indicate that he is representing President Mnangagwa at the event.

The service, themed “The Lord has done great things for us,” is set to take place on Sunday, August 25, at the Civil Service Sports Stadium (Civo) in Lilongwe.

Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to be the guest of honour, with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema also anticipated to attend.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the CCAP Church of Scotland, Rt Rev Dr. Shaw Paterson, will also be part of the celebrations.

Back in 2016, Bushiri claimed that Mohadi would be promoted and would wear a crown, placing the Beitbridge East legislator then at the heart of Zanu PF’s succession battles.

During a sermon, Bushiri assured Mohadi that nothing would happen to him, despite attempts by his rivals to kill him.

“I am seeing you going higher and higher, nothing bad will happen to you. I am seeing promotion coming your way, I am seeing a crown on your head because I am seeing the spiritual realm,” Bushiri prophesied, with Mohadi repeatedly affirming, “I receive.”

Bushiri warned of rivals targeting Mohadi, claiming they were employing witchdoctors to hinder his rise. “I am seeing arrows against you, but none of them shall prosper. I am seeing somebody holding a spear targeting that man (Mohadi), and this man is visiting all these witchdoctors,” Bushiri said.

He even identified the rivals as coming from Borrowdale and seeking assistance in Chitungwiza.

Bushiri assured Mohadi that a “shield of fire” would protect him and promised that “money is coming your way.” As a gesture of protection, Bushiri gave Mohadi a white handkerchief, instructing him to use it in prayer whenever he felt under threat.

Mohadi’s 2016 visit to Bushiri marked the beginning of his rise within Zanu PF, aligning him with a faction loyal to then-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who later ascended to the presidency.

His recent visit to Malawi, where Bushiri now permanently resides after fleeing prosecution for various fraud and corruption charges in South Africa, comes at a time when Zanu PF is embroiled in yet another power struggle.

This has fueled speculation that Mohadi might be seeking a presidential anointment from Bushiri.

Given this history, Mohadi’s current visit to Malawi is seen as more than just a ceremonial trip, potentially signaling another shift in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Fanamaya and Mambo allegedly struck Jere on the head with a stone following an argument during a beer-drinking session.

Notorious Zanu PF Activist Jim Kunaka Says Zim Is A Democratic Country

By A Correspondent

Jim Kunaka, a former Zanu PF enforcer notorious for his role in intimidating opposition members during Robert Mugabe’s rule, has recently offered unexpected praise to the current President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Kunaka’s comments come amid speculation that he is attempting to curry favor with Mnangagwa in hopes of reestablishing his influence within the party.

Kunaka took to social media on Friday to laud Zimbabwe’s current political environment.

In a post on X, he declared, “I think Zimbabwe has the best democracy in the world. Contrary to what Americans say about us, we never saw any campaigning President facing what we recently saw at Donald Trump’s rally; only that tells a lot about how bad America is.

Here, the opposition campaigns freely.”

Political analysts interpret Kunaka’s remarks as a strategic move aimed at ingratiating himself with Mnangagwa, as he seeks to re-enter the political sphere.

His endorsement of the President’s democratic credentials seems at odds with his own controversial past, raising questions about his motivations and the authenticity of his praise.

UEFA Champions League Adopts New Format

The UEFA Champions League will have a new format starting from this coming season.

The new format will have 36 teams and will have no group stages which had thirty-two teams.

How will the Champions League format change from 2024/25?

The biggest change sees a transformation from the traditional group stage to a single league phase including all participating teams.

Each side will play eight matches in the new league phase (former group stage). They will no longer play three opponents twice – home and away – but will instead face fixtures against eight different teams, playing half of those matches at home and half of them away.

To determine the eight different opponents, the teams will initially be ranked in four seeding pots. Each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each of these pots, playing one match against a team from each pot at home, and one away.

The top eight sides in the league will qualify automatically for the knockout stages, while the teams finishing in ninth to 24th place will compete in a two-legged play-off to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Teams ranked 25-36 are eliminated from all competitions.

Nees Speaks On Way Forward

Newly-appointed national team coach Michael Nees has revealed his selection criteria ahead of the Warriors squad announcement.

The national side will be in action early next month when they begin their 2025 Afcon Qualifiers Group J campaign.

Zimbabwe will face Kenya on matchday one on 4 September before hosting former African champions Cameroon six days later.

Speaking at his unveiling ceremony on Thursday in Harare, Nees said his squad selection will be based on merit and will not tolerate influence from authorities or player agents seeking to interfere in team assembling.

The German gaffer said: “It’s a fact that players have representatives or agents, but they don’t make selections.

“You have to select the best possible team for your upcoming challenges, and in my previous jobs, I had no problems with them. I think we always made it clear to them that there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed.

“A player must perform on the pitch, he must show us he is able, he must show the team he commits the team.”

Nees added: “For me, the performance on the pitch is everything, nothing else, and I have no family relations or kinship relations here, so you can be assured that I can be objective.”

Laying the Odds: A Comprehensive Review of Wisconsin’s Online Casino Offerings

In the heart of the Midwest, Wisconsin is not just about cheese and Packers; it’s also becoming a hotspot for online casino enthusiasts. Wisconsinites have a burgeoning array of online casino options with the digital gambling landscape expanding. But with so many choices, how does one discern the best from the rest? This review delves deep into the offerings, pulling back the curtain to reveal what makes a top-notch online casino in the Badger State.

Licensing and Legal Framework

When it comes to online gambling in Wisconsin, the first thing you gotta check is the legal tape. It’s the foundation that supports the whole structure of a safe online gambling experience. Every reputable online casino operating here should be singing in tune with state regulations. These legal guidelines ensure that casinos play fair and protect both the games and the gamblers.

Wisconsin’s Department of Gaming is the chief in charge, overseeing all gambling activities. A licensed casino under this department’s watch means it’s passed a series of stringent tests. These tests aren’t just a one-and-done deal. Nope, they’re more like an ongoing reality TV series where the casino’s operations are monitored for compliance and fairness.

Why should you care? Playing at a licensed casino is like wearing a seatbelt—a necessary safety measure. These casinos must prove they use random number generators (RNGs) to ensure games aren’t rigged, giving you a fair shake every time you play. Additionally, they must keep your personal and financial info under lock and key. Is no licensing info visible? Better steer clear—it might be a wild ride without any safety measures.

Game Selection and Software Providers

An excellent online casino isn’t just a one-trick pony; it’s more like a full-blown entertainment circus. The variety and quality of games keep players coming back for more. Wisconsin’s top online casinos boast many games—from spinning slots to tactical table games like poker and blackjack.

But here’s the kicker: the quality of these games hinges on the software providers behind them. Gaming software giants like Microgaming, NetEnt, and Playtech are known for their slick graphics, smooth gameplay, and innovative features. These folks are like the Spielberg of online casino games; they know how to create a blockbuster.

Moreover, the games’ diversity can make or break your casino experience. The best casinos offer a mix that caters to all types of players. Whether you’re a high roller after the thrill of live dealer games or a casual player sticking to the slots, there should be something for everyone. And let’s not forget about the progressive jackpots. These games are the golden tickets of the casino world, offering life-changing sums with just one spin.

Customer Support and Banking Options

Now, onto the nuts and bolts of customer service and banking. Good customer support is like having a reliable friend in the casino world. It should be available 24/7 through live chat, email, or phone. The package includes quick responses, clear information, and a friendly tone. After all, it’s nice to know someone’s there to help at the drop of a hat, whether you’re up or down.

Banking options are equally important. The ease with which you can deposit and withdraw money is a key component of a stress-free casino experience. Look for casinos offering a variety of payment methods—from traditional bank transfers and credit cards to modern e-wallets like PayPal and Skrill. Fast payouts are a major plus, too. No one wants to wait weeks to get their hands on their winnings, right?

Moreover, security is paramount when it comes to transactions. Every reputable online casino in Wisconsin should use encryption to protect your financial details. Just like you wouldn’t give someone unfiltered access to your wallet, you shouldn’t settle for less regarding online security.

Navigating the Wisconsin casino apps scene can feel like walking through a dense forest. But armed with the right information, you can find your way to a safe and enjoyable experience. Remember, a trustworthy online casino stands on the pillars of proper licensing, a rich selection of high-quality games, stellar customer support, and robust banking practices. So, take these insights, lay your bets wisely, and Wisconsin’s online casinos might be where your next big win awaits!

Chamisa In Great Loss

By Political Reporter- One of the country’s charismatic opposition politicians, Nelson Chamisa’s key allies and former Lupane East MP, Bright Vanya Moyo, has died.

Moyo was elected Member of Parliament for Lupane East in August 2023.

He was together with a dozen more legit CCC elected MPs illegally recalled from Parliament by Sengezo Tshabangu with the assistance of his (Tshabangu) Zanu PF handlers.

His death was announced Friday by former CCC deputy spokesperson Ostallos Gift Siziba Friday on his X account. Said Siziba:
I had the privilege of working with him in Lupane as the cluster leader there, witnessing firsthand his tireless work ethic, unwavering dedication, and the immense love he received from the people of Lupane. He was a man of the people. He remained steadfast, solid and true to the ideals we believe in – a true fighter! Rest in peace, bafo; you ran your race, a good fight it was. Until we meet again!

Mnangagwa Dragged Into Mike’ Mbudzi’ Chimombe’s US$9 Million Scam

By Crime and Courts Reporter-Zanu PF member and controversial businessman Mike Chimombe claims that the fraud charges levelled against him are politically motivated, suggesting a conspiracy within his own party.

Chimombe is embroiled in a US$9.2 million tender scandal involving the installation of streetlights in Harare.

Despite the accusations, he denies any connection to Juluka Projects and Plant Hire (Pvt) Ltd, the company at the center of the controversy.

According to the defence, the US$206,146.13 in question was not received by Chimombe but was a legitimate payment made by the City of Harare for services provided by Mpofu’s company.

Contrary to the State’s allegations, the defence argued that this amount was not an advance payment but a duly invoiced sum for work already completed.

“He is charged in his personal capacity when, in fact, Juluka Projects (Pvt) Limited, a separate legal entity, was the one awarded the tender by the City of Harare,” Chimombe’s lawyer stated.
The defence further emphasized that Mpofu was not directly involved in handling tenders for Juluka Projects (Pvt) Limited.

Mpofu also denied allegations of submitting a bid document containing false statements.

The case has been postponed to August 27 for a bail ruling.

Mthuli Sinking With The ZiG

By Business Reporter-Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube has doubled down on the government’s commitment to phasing out the multi-currency system despite the ongoing decline of the Zimbabwean dollar (ZiG), which continues to lose value daily.

Presenting the 2024 Mid-Term Budget Review in Harare, Ncube boldly asserted that the de-dollarisation process is “well underway” and aimed at establishing a “mono-currency regime” supported by a stable local currency. He stated:

“The phased de-dollarisation programme is well underway and seeks to re-establish a mono-currency regime, backed by a domestic currency that can spur domestic production and boost exports by making local products more competitive in international markets. Sustaining the stability in the medium-to-long term will require consistency in the implementation of policy reforms, effective management of liquidity injections into the market, as well as foreign currency generation and supply to the economy. Furthermore, confidence-building measures will be instituted and clearly communicated to the market to upscale trust, acceptance, and use of the domestic currency.”

Ncube emphasised the government’s intention to adopt a pragmatic, market-oriented approach to de-dollarisation, aiming to counteract the negative perceptions and adverse expectations that have historically undermined policy effectiveness.

Regarding the local currency, Ncube assured that an optimal supply of ZiG notes and coins would be maintained, balancing transactional convenience with preserving the currency’s value.

In addition to currency stabilisation, Ncube outlined a comprehensive macroeconomic strategy, which includes restructuring national debt, tightening monetary policy, and increasing domestic revenue collection. He explained:
“Restructuring the national debt to reduce servicing costs and alignment to Budget capacity; effectively managing liquidity injections into the market through the Liquidity Management Committee; following up on measures to strengthen the demand and use of domestic currency by government, the corporate world, and the general public; progressively switching the foreign and local currency mix in the economy as part of the de-dollarisation strategy… Fiscal consolidation measures, including domestic revenue mobilisation and asset disposal, will be employed to ensure sustainable fiscal deficit financing and avoid the inflationary and self-defeating recourse to the central bank overdraft facility.”

Economists caution that the success of Zimbabwe’s de-dollarisation programme will ultimately depend on the government’s ability to implement consistent policies, restore public confidence, and address the underlying economic challenges facing the nation.

Nees Speaks On Warriors Selection Method

New Format For UEFA Champions League

Mugabe Apologist Licks Mnangagwa Boots

The training is being conducted by Principal Machacha, a Zanu PF Politburo member.”

UK Hints At Opening Doors For Zim Care Workers

By James Gwati- The Keir Starmer Labour Party administration is working on revising immigration laws to attract foreign nationals who work in the care sector, increasing chances for more Zimbabweans to relocate to Britain.

This development comes amid growing concerns about the potential closure of care homes in Wales, driven by restrictive immigration policies introduced by the previous Conservative government.

Official figures indicate that the number of people applying for UK visas to work in the care sector plummeted by 80% in the first quarter of 2024.

This sharp decline is largely attributed to the immigration laws introduced in March by the Conservative administration under then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Sunak’s government had imposed a ban preventing foreign healthcare workers from bringing their families to the UK, drastically reducing the number of applications from overseas.

Before these restrictions, thousands of Zimbabweans, among others, were flocking to the UK for work in the care sector.

The new rules, however, have significantly altered this trend.

Care Forum Wales (CFW) has expressed alarm over the March rule changes, making it more difficult for foreign care workers to relocate to the UK with their families.

The forum warned that these restrictions are contributing to the closure of care homes across Wales, further exacerbating the already critical shortage of care workers.

Meryl Welsby, manager of Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys care home in Conwy County, highlighted the difficulty of recruiting local staff. “We’ve been trying to recruit locally for years, but no one applies for the jobs. No one wants to work weekends, nights, and it’s not attractive,” Welsby said.

The home, which relies heavily on overseas staff, currently employs carers from 10 different countries to look after its 30 residents.

Welsby criticized the government’s approach, stating, “It’s easy for the government to say, ‘Oh well, you can’t recruit from abroad to bring our numbers down,’ but the thing is, where are we going to recruit from? There’s nowhere else and nothing else we can do.”

CFW spokesperson and care home owner, Kim Ombler, echoed these concerns, warning that the care sector could face severe challenges if the situation does not improve.

“If we can’t get workers from abroad and also can’t get local workers to fill the gap, there’s a big worry that homes could close because of this,” Ombler said.

The UK government has defended its policy as part of a broader effort to reduce “historically high” immigration levels and to focus on “training more workers” within Britain.

However, the Labour government’s hint at revising these laws offers a glimmer of hope for Zimbabweans and other foreign nationals who play a crucial role in the UK’s care sector.

Chamisa Lieutenant Denied Bail

By A Correspondent| A Harare magistrate yesterday denied bail to former Budiriro legislator Costa Machingauta, who was arrested on charges of inciting violence and disorderly conduct.

Magistrate Ethel Chichera, in her ruling, acknowledged that while bail is a constitutional right, it can be denied if there are compelling reasons. She expressed concern over Machingauta’s alleged collaboration with Amos Chibaya, stating that his release could be problematic.

Chichera highlighted that the offence was committed via social media, which has the potential to spread violence, and should not be taken lightly. She concluded that the State had presented compelling reasons to keep Machingauta in custody.

Machingauta was remanded in custody until August 30 for further proceedings.

Prosecutor Polite Chikiwa alleged that between August 1 and 15 this year, Machingauta conspired with Chibaya and posted messages in Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) WhatsApp groups, encouraging the public to engage in violent activities.

Machingauta is accused of mobilizing CCC members to block roads, torch shops, and burn tyres during the recently concluded Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government Summit.

The State further alleged that as a result of this incitement, riotous activists on August 16 barricaded roads and burnt tyres at Mukonono Bridge along High Glen Road in Marimba, Harare.

In a separate incident, the State claimed that on August 15, Machingauta assaulted detectives from the CID Law and Order department, becoming violent and using abusive language against the officers.

Gayton McKenzie urges SA Government to cut funding for superfans

The new Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie is winning the hearts of many South Africans as he announced plans to cut funding for superfans.

According to TimesLIVE reporting, the department sponsored travel and accommodation for superfans Mama Joy Chauke and Botha Msila’s trip to the Rugby World Cup in France. Apparently the department spent 1.3 million, this is a move which divided the whole of South Africa, Media powerhouse Robert Marawa was in support of the move, while opposition party MPS were against the move.

The opposition Parties believes that the money can also be used to fund employment programs implemented by the South African Government.

“I have stopped all trips for superfans. We have athletes and artists who are struggling to raise money to attend sporting events and exhibitions. How do we justify paying for fans? We will no longer pay for the trips and will use that money where it’s needed the most,” McKenzie said on Tuesday morning.

From now on Superfans will fund their own trips unless they find themselves a sponsor, this is going to affect the likes of Botha Msila, Mama Joy, Machaka and many others.

The youth is impressed by the changes made by Minister Gayton McKenzie under the national unity government (GNU).

The government funding for sport fans does not exist in many countries according to multiple reports.

McKenzie said: “How do we justify paying for fans? We shall no longer be paying for these trips and will use that money where it is needed the most.”

Red Cross Elections Clouded by Allegations of Rigging

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) elections have been overshadowed by allegations of vote rigging, with reports of some candidates being disqualified at the last minute.

The humanitarian organization is in the process of selecting its leadership, from district representatives to the national board. However, the current national executive, led by President Edison Mlambo and Secretary General Elias Hwenga, has faced growing unpopularity due to accusations of corruption, nepotism, and authoritarianism within the organization.

Emails seen by this publication reveal that volunteers had raised serious corruption allegations against the leadership prior to the national elections. These concerns appear to have been dismissed, with the current leadership reportedly resorting to questionable tactics to maintain their hold on power.

Sources within the ZRCS allege that the leadership bypassed the constitution, which mandates the selection of an election committee, by handpicking only six members. “They have only handpicked six members—Mrs. Babra Chimbodza, a former magistrate as chair, Lewis Banda, Edwin Musindo, Elias Hwenga, and Wellington Magaya. This is very wrong because the constitution requires an election committee with three members from the eight statutory regions,” one source said.

In Lower Gweru, the number of people did not meet the requirements for the formation of a branch, but provincial manager Marble Zinange reportedly ordered the branch to be created, violating Article 41.2(a) of the organization’s constitution. “The same happened in Marondera and Bindura. In Bindura, provincial manager Thulani Sibanda conducted an election with 17 people, three of whom were not members but employees of the society. These guys are desperate to retain power,” added the source.

In Gokwe North and South districts, elections were reportedly not conducted, with the manager instead focusing on a food program in Shurugwi, where a few people were coerced into holding an election. “Members of ZRCS were surprised to hear of the election from the community, which is against the constitution that states the election committee must distribute nomination forms at least four weeks before the relevant election,” the source explained.

In Gweru Urban, Secretary General Hwenga disqualified legitimate members on the grounds that they were tertiary students, while in Murehwa, the district election was omitted from the calendar altogether.

Disgruntled members have reportedly approached the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies cluster manager, John Roche, but claim their concerns have been ignored.

Pre-Sentencing Of Serial Killer Of Zimbabwean Sex Workers Postponed

By A Correspondent| The case against convicted serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi has been postponed until the end of the month after his lawyer reported being unwell.

Mkhwanazi made a brief appearance in the High Court at Palm Ridge on Thursday morning, where pre-sentencing proceedings were expected to continue.

“By agreement between the parties, your matter is then postponed back to the High Court in Gauteng Division, Johannesburg, to Wednesday, 28 August 2024 at 09:00, or shortly thereafter, where the matter shall be heard for pre-sentencing proceedings – which includes arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentence,” Judge Cassim Moosa informed Mkhwanazi.

In March, the 21-year-old was convicted on more than 20 charges, including murder, rape, theft, and defeating the ends of justice. These charges stem from the horrifying discovery of the decomposed bodies of six sex workers at his father’s Johannesburg car repair workshop in October 2022.

Last week, social worker Xolile Budaza, who conducted an assessment of Mkhwanazi, testified that the court should not deviate from the mandatory life imprisonment sentence. Budaza’s report, based on five in-person consultations, detailed Mkhwanazi’s childhood, his reactions to the murders, and his subsequent conviction.

The report highlighted that Mkhwanazi had specifically targeted individuals from marginalized groups and had failed to successfully navigate critical psychological development stages crucial for personality formation. Additionally, Budaza noted that Mkhwanazi had not been forthcoming about the underlying causes of his serial crimes and showed no signs of remorse.

“Based on this analysis and the findings by the forensic psychiatrist, it is clear that the accused has not reached a level of genuine remorse. Although he expressed his feelings regarding his actions, his focus was primarily on himself and the difficulty of taking another person’s life. Therefore, deviation from the prescribed minimum sentence of life is not recommended, as the accused appears to have suppressed many unwanted experiences and emotions,” Budaza concluded.

Kombi Driver Almost Escape Severe Punishment, High Court Orders Resentencing

By A Correspondent| High Court Justice Faith Mushure has strongly criticized a magistrate’s handling of Munyaradzi Ronde’s reckless driving case.

Initially, Ronde, a kombi driver who drove against traffic and collided with two vehicles, received a lenient six-month suspended sentence.

Justice Mushure has overturned this decision, citing the need for a more appropriate sentence, and has remitted the case back to the trial court for resentencing.

The case, which has drawn significant public attention, originally saw the charge reduced from reckless to negligent driving, causing widespread concern.

Water Shortage Hits Hopley

Residents of Harare’s Hopley suburb are facing a severe water crisis, forcing them to resort to drawing water from unsafe sources due to the Harare City Council’s failure to provide potable water. The situation has become a serious health hazard, prompting residents to appeal for urgent intervention.

With no access to clean water, residents are forced to buy water from individuals claiming ownership of wells at the local cemetery. Those who cannot afford to pay are required to perform labor in exchange for a single bucket of water. Others walk 6 kilometers to fetch water from open wells at the graveyard, exposing themselves to harassment and health risks.

The water crisis has become a lucrative business for some residents, who sell water from open wells and boreholes. However, this has further exacerbated the situation, as those who cannot afford to buy water are left with no choice but to drink from contaminated sources.

The Harare City Council has acknowledged the issue, attributing the water shortage to the construction of the Mbudzi Interchange. They have promised to deploy water bowsers to the area and replace damaged pipes once the construction is complete.

Residents, however, remain concerned about the lack of access to clean water and the potential health risks associated with drinking from unsafe sources. They urge the city council to take immediate action to address the crisis and provide a sustainable solution to the water shortage.

High Court Intervenes in Case of Dangerous Driving Gone Unpunished

High Court Judge Rebukes Magistrate for Lenient Sentence in Reckless Driving Case

Harare, Zimbabwe — In a striking rebuke, High Court Justice Faith Mushure has criticized a magistrate’s handling of a case involving Munyaradzi Ronde, a kombi driver whose reckless driving in Harare’s city center could have resulted in serious consequences. The magistrate’s decision, which originally saw Ronde walk free after a wholly suspended six-month jail sentence, has now been overturned, and the case has been remitted back to the trial court for resentencing.

High court of Zim – pic

The case, which has sparked significant public interest, centers on an incident where Ronde, driving a commuter omnibus, recklessly drove the wrong way down a one-way street, colliding with two vehicles. Despite the severity of the offense, the trial magistrate downgraded the charge from reckless driving to negligent driving and issued a lenient sentence, prompting widespread concern and the eventual review by Justice Mushure.

Upon reviewing the case, Justice Mushure found serious flaws in the trial court’s decision-making process. She noted that the evidence clearly supported a conviction for reckless driving, a charge carrying more serious consequences. However, the magistrate inexplicably downgraded the charge without providing any explanation for this change, a move Justice Mushure described as both “arbitrary” and lacking in legal reasoning.

In her judgment, Justice Mushure stressed the importance of judicial transparency, emphasizing that courts must provide clear and adequate reasons for their decisions, particularly when dealing with competent verdicts. “The need to give sufficient reasons for a decision is a well-trodden path,” she remarked, underscoring that the failure to do so undermines the integrity of the judicial process.

As a result of these findings, Justice Mushure corrected the verdict, reinstating the more serious charge of reckless driving, and ordered that the case be sent back to the trial court for a new sentencing hearing. Additionally, she mandated that the magistrate involved in the original trial receive further training to prevent similar errors in the future. The magistrate’s name has not been disclosed.

This decision by Justice Mushure serves as a powerful reminder of the critical role that higher courts play in maintaining the standards of justice in Zimbabwe. It also highlights the need for ongoing judicial education to ensure that all legal professionals are equipped to make decisions that reflect the seriousness of the offenses before them.

Further updates on the resentencing and any developments in the case will be provided as they become available.

11-Year-Old Girl Becomes Sole Caregiver for Paralysed Father in Chimanimani

Mandima, Chimanimani – In a heartbreaking tale of resilience and responsibility, an 11-year-old girl from the remote village of Mandima, under Chief Mutambara, has emerged as the sole caregiver for her paralysed father after her mother abandoned the family six years ago.

Patience Mukute, a young girl forced to drop out of school, has taken on the role of nurse, caretaker, and breadwinner for her father, who was left paralysed and unable to speak after suffering a stroke. The tragic event occurred when Patience returned home from school one day, only to find her father lying helpless on the ground, saliva trickling from his mouth. Since then, the young girl has been solely responsible for his care, a task that has taken a significant toll on her own health and well-being.

Adding to her burden, Patience has suffered severe burns on her legs after an accident involving fire. Despite the constant pain and lack of medical attention, she continues to perform strenuous daily tasks such as fetching water and firewood, cooking, and bathing her father. The physical demands, coupled with poor nutrition and the absence of proper medical care, have left Patience in a dire state.

When reporters from The Manica Post visited their home recently, they witnessed the dire conditions under which the father and daughter live. Both are barely able to walk, with the father’s paralysis and Patience’s untreated burns compounding their struggles. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Patience remains determined, sharing how a visit to a local prophet has led to slight improvements in her father’s condition.

Patience’s story is a poignant reminder of the harsh realities faced by many in impoverished and remote areas. She dreams of returning to school and reclaiming her childhood, but her immediate concern is for basic necessities. She is appealing for donations of school fees, uniforms, shoes, clothing, toiletries, food, and medication for her father.

Her plea highlights the urgent need for community support to alleviate their suffering and provide the young girl with the opportunity to focus on her education and well-being. This young girl’s courage and determination in the face of such adversity is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit, and a call to action for those who can make a difference in her life.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

THE STRUGGLE FOR A NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE- WHERE WE ARE…

It has not been easy to stand for right, truth and the authentic alternative.

I can understand the struggle fatigue. It has been a long, rough and tough journey, #traveled fighting brutality and oppression. Struggles are never easy. It is a struggle- and it is not instant coffee or a walk in the park!

4.Some may resort to finger pointing and blame game as a post-election dissonance and frustration coping mechanism.

5.Some are pretenders, infiltrators and establishment collaborators who play for the other team. And they often shout and caricature the loudest.

  1. Some admire the opportunities offered by occupying office and being in government-as President, Minister, MPs, Councillors or public service.
  2. Some are content with benefits and privileges of power and position as opposition for life.
  3. Some are in it for survival and employment escaping poverty and never for service, change and leaving a legacy.
  4. Some seek short cuts decide that if we can’t beat them join them-so joining the gravy train becomes the easy answer!
  5. Some choose to disengage and pursue personal goals, interests and business as private citizens.
  6. Some are perennial skeptics and perpetual cynics and armchair critics. The naysayers and doomsayers. These are a mortal danger to a people struggle for a better world.
  7. Some fight to the bitter end!

These few are in it for the long haul, for service and for Zimbabwe and its people AND I am proud to belong to this category.

Mnangagwa Fails To Fix Hospitals

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwean national soccer team is playing home matches abroad because local stadiums fail to meet CAF (Confederation of African Football) standards, specifically the requirement for bucket seats.

Similarly, clubs like Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum FC are also using facilities outside the country due to inadequate local infrastructure.

This issue raises broader concerns about the state of public amenities.

Tafadzwa Chikosha recently took to Facebook to ask: “What about the state of stadiums and the conditions in our hospitals?”

As Zimbabwe continues to face challenges in upgrading its sports facilities, this question underscores the need for government action to improve both recreational and essential public services.

Hope For Zimbabweans As UK Government Hints At Revising Care Worker Visa Restrictions

By James Gwati | The UK Labour government has signalled that it may revise immigration laws to attract foreign nationals, who constitute a significant portion of the care sector workforce.

ZiG Shakes Mnangagwa Power Structures

By Business Reporter- A fierce power struggle is unfolding within the Zanu PF party over the performance of Zimbabwe’snew gold-backed currency, the ZiG, with some members demanding the resignation of Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and his team.

Leading the charge is South African-based Zanu PF supporter Kudzai Mutisi, who has called for the dismissal of not only Ncube but also the Finance Ministry’s Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu.

Mutisi accuses them of sabotaging the ZiG.

Launched in April 2024, the ZiG was touted by the government as a “structured currency” backed by 2.5 tonnes of gold and other minerals, including diamonds. Despite these assurances, the ZiG has steadily lost value on the parallel market, largely due to persistent foreign currency shortages.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mutisi accused the Treasury and Central Bank leaders of being “the biggest saboteurs of ZiG,” describing them as “lazy and indecisive.” Mutisi stated:

“The biggest saboteurs of ZiG are at the RBZ and Ministry of Finance—very lazy and indecisive folks. Five months after introducing ZiG, they have done NOTHING to make it the preferred currency. They FAILED to do the basics; it’s not enough to say it’s ‘gold-backed’—in fact, that’s UNNECESSARY. Simple things could give ZiG a huge boost.”

Mutisi outlined several steps he believes would strengthen the currency:

  1. Larger Denominations: Mutisi criticized the reluctance to introduce larger denominations, arguing that the collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar (ZWL) occurred without them. He pointed out that $100 USD notes circulate freely in Zimbabwe, filling the gap left by insufficient ZiG cash and thereby promoting the use of the US dollar instead. “Avail ENOUGH CASH!” he demanded.
  2. Tax Policies: He blasted Ncube’s decision to continue taxing electronic transactions, noting that the lack of sufficient ZiG cash in circulation drives people to use US dollars to avoid punitive taxes. Mutisi urged the removal of the IMTT tax and a reduction in bank charges to promote the ZiG.
  3. USD-Only Transactions: Mutisi expressed frustration that USD-only transactions have not been curbed, despite the introduction of the ZiG five months ago. He noted that the number of such transactions has actually increased.
  4. Tax Collection in ZiG: He criticized the lack of enforcement in collecting taxes in ZiG, arguing that companies have no incentive to accept or seek out the currency since the Treasury is more interested in collecting USD.

Mutisi called on President Mnangagwa to replace the current leadership at the RBZ and the Ministry of Finance with more competent individuals, stating:

“… you can’t have PhD holders who fail to do basic things. These are toxic people undermining the country for their own personal interests.”

He concluded by asserting that Ncube, Guvamatanga, and Mushayavanhu know the necessary steps to promote the ZiG but are unwilling to act if it jeopardizes their personal interests.

Government Confirms The Collapse Of ZiG

By Business Reporter- The government has conceded that the new gold-backed currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), is encountering resistance in the market, raising concerns about its viability.

Since its introduction in April 2024, the ZiG has only captured a modest 30% share of domestic transactions, with the US dollar still dominating at 70%.

Finance Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga acknowledged this on Wednesday during the Zimbabwe Economic Society and Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (ZES/FES) mid-term budget breakfast meeting in Harare.

Guvamatanga defended the currency, stating, “To say that the ZiG is not circulating is not correct; the ZiG has been accepted in the market but is only circulating in electronic form. When we introduced the ZiG, the portion of transactions was 80-20, and now we are at 61-39 percent, so there has been a very marked increase in the use and acceptance of ZiG. We are seeing more transactions in ZiG.”

Despite Guvamatanga’s reassurances, the numbers tell a different story.

The initial phase saw an 80-20 split between the ZiG and other currencies, which has since shifted to 61-39, indicating that the ZiG is struggling to gain a foothold.

The government acknowledges that the currency’s physical form—small notes and coins—has yet to circulate widely, which could be contributing to its limited acceptance.

At the start of the year and for much of 2023, the US dollar dominated local transactions, accounting for approximately 80% due to the rapid depreciation of the Zimbabwean dollar.

While the introduction of the ZiG was intended to stabilize the economy, the ongoing shortage of foreign currency remains a significant hurdle.

The situation raises questions about the long-term sustainability of the ZiG, as it struggles to compete with the more trusted US dollar, leaving the government with the challenge of convincing a skeptical market to embrace its new currency.

What is the orthodox stance in boxing?

The orthodox stance is the most common and traditional stance used in boxing, particularly by right-handed fighters. You can place bets at 1xBet on boxers who use this stance too.

This stance provides a strong balance between offense and defense, allowing for 3 key things:

  • effective movement;
  • powerful punches;
  • and solid protection.

Let’s talk about some of the main aspects of this stance. In 1st place, we have foot positioning. At 1xBet it is possible to place all sorts of bets on everything that happens in boxing too.

In the orthodox stance, the left foot is positioned forward, pointing slightly inward, while the right foot is placed back and to the side, about shoulder-width apart. This stance creates a stable base, essential for maintaining balance during movement and while throwing punches. The rear heel is slightly off the ground, allowing for quick pivots and weight shifts.

Keeping the body and hand in position

In 2nd place, let’s talk about the body. It is angled to the right, with the left shoulder pointing towards the opponent. This positioning minimizes the target area exposed to the opponent, making it more challenging for them to land clean punches. The torso is slightly rotated to the right, which helps in generating power for punches. Go and 1xBet mobile download now in order to start wagering on boxers who use this stance by using your mobile devices.

In 3rd place we need to talk about hand positioning. In the orthodox stance, the left hand (lead hand) is held up near the chin, slightly extended forward to be ready for quick jabs. The right hand (rear hand) is positioned near the right cheek or jaw, providing protection and ready to deliver powerful crosses and hooks. The 1xBet mobile app can be downloaded now, and you can also use it on great boxers at any moment.

Punching and defending

In 4th place, let’s talk about punching. In the orthodox stance, the left hand is used primarily for 2 kinds of hits: jabs and hooks. At the same time, the right hand-delivers power punches, with 3 kinds being crosses, uppercuts, and overhand rights. You can play slots at www.1xbet.co.ke/slots while waiting for other boxers that use this stance.

The stance allows for a seamless transition between defense and offense, enabling fighters to do 3 things effectively, which are block, slip, or counterpunch.

Finally, in 5th place, let’s talk about defense. In this aspect, the orthodox stance provides several techniques to protect against incoming punches. These include blocking with the gloves and arms, slipping punches by moving the head, parrying punches with the hands, and rolling the shoulders to deflect blows. As always, the best boxers can always be wagered at 1xBet too.

Fix Hospitals, Angry Citizen Openly Tells Mnangagwa…

Mnangagwa Keeps Chiwenga at Bay as Succession Battle Intensifies

By A Correspondent

In the ever-evolving landscape of Zimbabwean politics, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is strategically moving to solidify his grip on power and secure a third term.

This move comes as he keeps his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, on the periphery of key decision-making processes amid a heightened succession battle within the ruling ZANU-PF party.

Mnangagwa’s focus on retaining power has become increasingly apparent as he leverages his position to marginalize Chiwenga, who is also a key figure in the party’s hierarchy.

The dynamic between the two leaders is shaped by Mnangagwa’s ambition for an extended tenure while Chiwenga, as the party’s vice president, eyes the presidency, constrained by the Constitution’s two-term limit for any president.

The political tension is underscored by Mnangagwa’s strategic decisions, which appear aimed at diminishing Chiwenga’s influence and keeping him away from critical roles that could bolster his succession prospects.

This dynamic is especially significant as Zimbabwe approaches a crucial period of electoral contests and party realignments.

Amid these political gimmicks, Chiwenga has made notable efforts to enhance Zimbabwe’s international economic profile.

A government source highlighted Chiwenga’s recent engagement at the Africa Conclave on India-Africa Partnership.

His presentation at the event successfully generated substantial interest among Indian investors, showcasing Zimbabwe’s investment potential across various economic sectors.

This positive reception underscores Chiwenga’s role in bolstering the country’s global economic relations, even as he navigates the internal political currents.

The unfolding political drama within ZANU-PF is set against a backdrop of increasing international attention, driven by Chiwenga’s compelling pitch to global business leaders.

As the succession battle heats up, the intricate balance of power between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga will undoubtedly shape the future trajectory of Zimbabwe’s leadership and its global economic engagements.

Western Suburbs Rugby Academy: Bridging Dreams and Defying Odds

……..

By Sports Reporter | In the heart of Bulawayo’s vibrant yet often overlooked Western Suburbs, a quiet revolution is taking place on the rugby field. Founded on a legacy of passion and dedication, the Western Suburbs Rugby Academy (WSRA) has been nurturing the next generation of Zimbabwean rugby talent, drawing from the underprivileged and marginalized communities of the city. Yet, despite its successes, the academy is facing immense challenges that threaten its very existence. Now, more than ever, WSRA is calling on corporate sponsors, philanthropists, and community leaders to rally behind its cause.
A Legacy of Passion
The origins of Western Suburbs Rugby date back to 1981, when Lou Corbi, a former Zimbabwe national rugby player, founded the first iteration of the club. His mission was clear: to bring rugby to Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs, giving children and youth a chance to experience the sport and the discipline it offers. His vision, supported by legendary figures like Francis Muhomba and George Mukorera, laid the groundwork for the academy’s development.
In 2009, the Western Suburbs Rugby Academy was formally established, with a mission to expand rugby’s reach in the city and provide a structured pathway for young athletes to pursue the sport. Despite the lack of resources, the academy has flourished, thanks to the dedication of its coaches and volunteers, all of whom work tirelessly to keep the dream alive.
The Struggles Beneath the Success
However, behind the scenes, the challenges have been daunting. Sponsorship is scarce, equipment is limited, and the cost of outfitting teams and covering travel expenses often falls on the shoulders of the academy’s volunteers. Coaches work for free, dedicating their time and expertise to ensure that these young athletes have the opportunity to train and compete.
“The biggest challenge has always been funding,” says Busani Ncube, CEO of WSRA. “We have the passion, the talent, and the commitment, but without proper sponsorship, we are constantly operating on the brink. Our equipment is outdated, and we often struggle to afford travel costs for competitions.”
In addition to financial struggles, the academy has faced resistance from some communities, where rugby is still seen as a rough and unfamiliar sport. Yet, the WSRA has pushed forward, determined to break down barriers and bring the sport to all, including girls, who are now an integral part of the academy’s programs.
Reaching for New Heights
Despite these hurdles, the academy has made incredible strides. Since upgrading to a full-time development hub in 2015, WSRA has produced a pipeline of talented players who have gone on to represent Zimbabwe at national and international levels. Names like Bornwel Gwinji, Kholwane Moyo, and Gardner Nechiringer have all emerged from WSRA’s ranks, proving that world-class talent can come from even the most disadvantaged backgrounds.
Yet, while these success stories are a testament to the academy’s effectiveness, the lack of resources continues to limit their potential. The academy’s training facilities are basic, and the lack of high-performance equipment hinders their ability to fully develop the skills of their athletes.
“We’ve shifted our focus to elite high performance, but our abilities are limited,” Ncube explains. “We need better equipment, better facilities, and more resources if we’re going to continue developing top-tier talent.”
A Call to Action
For WSRA, the mission is not just about developing rugby players—it’s about building futures. The academy provides a safe space for children to learn discipline, teamwork, and leadership. It’s a haven from the dangers of drugs and crime that plague many of Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs.
Parents and schools consistently report positive changes in the behavior and attitudes of the children involved in the academy. “The feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive,” Ncube shares. “Parents tell us that their children are more disciplined, more respectful, and more focused, both on and off the field.”
But to continue this work, WSRA needs help. Corporate sponsors, businesses, and individuals are being urged to step forward and contribute to the academy’s growth and sustainability. Sponsorship is more than just a financial contribution—it’s an investment in the future of Zimbabwean rugby and in the lives of countless young people who may otherwise never have the chance to realize their potential.
The Way Forward
Looking ahead, WSRA has ambitious plans. Over the next 5 to 10 years, they aim to increase rugby participation across Bulawayo, expand their coaching venues, and elevate both male and female players to higher levels of competition. They envision a future where Bulawayo becomes a thriving hub of rugby talent, contributing to Zimbabwe’s success on the national and international stage.
But these dreams can only be realized with the right support. The academy is appealing for partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsorships, and donations of equipment. Even small contributions can make a big difference in the lives of these young athletes.
“We are building more than just rugby players—we’re building future leaders, role models, and community figures,” says Ncube. “But we can’t do it alone. We need the support of the community, of businesses, of anyone who believes in the power of sport to transform lives.”
How You Can Help
To those interested in supporting the Western Suburbs Rugby Academy, the message is simple: your help is needed now more than ever. Whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or donations, your contribution can help ensure that this vital program continues to thrive.

Chamisa Hints At Return To Political Arena

By Political Reporter- The country’s most popular opposition politician, Nelson Chamisa, has hinted at his return to the political arena and said that he would fight until there is a democratic government.

He hinted at this while responding to Zanu PF agents attacking him and accusing him of not taking action.

Chamisa responded to these critics and, at the same time, reaffirmed his commitment to the struggle for democratic change in Zimbabwe.

Critics, including political activist Hopewell Chin’ono and academic Ibbo Mandaza, have made these claims but have not provided evidence to support their assertions that the former CCC leader is aligned with the ruling establishment.

Some have gone so far as to demand that Chamisa resign from politics to make way for a new opposition leader.

In an apparent rebuttal to his detractors, Chamisa stated on Wednesday that some former allies appear “fatigued,” whileothers among his critics are “pretenders, infiltrators, and collaborators who play for the other team.”

THE STRUGGLE FOR A NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE- WHERE WE ARE.

It has not been easy to stand for right, truth and the authentic alternative. I can understand the struggle fatigue. It has been a long, rough and tough journey, # travelled fighting brutality and oppression. Struggles are never easy. It is a struggle- and it is not instant coffee or a walk in the park!

1. Over time, a lot happens. Some fall by the wayside, some go offside yet very few remain onside and inside!!

2. Some get genuinely tired, exhausted and or get too old, yet can’t let go.

3. Some are disappointed, depressed and frustrated at the delay in quick results.

4. Some may resort to finger-pointing and blame games as a post-election dissonance and frustration coping mechanism.

5. Some are pretenders, infiltrators and establishment collaborators who play for the other team. And they often shout and caricature the loudest.

6. Some admire the opportunities offered by occupying office and being in government-as President, Minister, MPs, Councillors or public service.

7. Some are content with the benefits and privileges of power and position as opposition for life.

8. Some are in it for survival and employment escaping poverty and never for service, change and leaving a legacy.

9. Some seek shortcuts and decide that if we can’t beat them, join them joining the gravy train becomes the easy answer!

10. Some choose to disengage and pursue personal goals, interests and business as private citizens.

11. Some are perennial sceptics and perpetual cynics and armchair critics. The naysayers and doomsayers. These are a mortal danger to a people’s struggle for a better world.

12. Some fight to the bitter end! These few are in it for the long haul, for service and for Zimbabwe and its people AND I am proud to belong to this category.

The Struggles the world over and since time immemorial, are always laced with multiple sorrows and discomforts butultimately victory kicks in.

All this suffering is not in vain. We can’t go through all this pain not to receive our gain and victory in due time!!#NewDawn #Godisinit

Advocate Thabani Mpofu Dismisses Bribery Allegations Against Nelson Chamisa as a “Smear Campaign”

By A Correspondent|Advocate Thabani Mpofu, the lawyer representing opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, has vehemently denied allegations that Chamisa was bribed by ZANU-PF to compromise the opposition’s efforts. In a strongly-worded statement, Mpofu described the claims as a baseless and orchestrated smear campaign, concocted within the corridors of ZANU-PF’s headquarters, Jongwe House, aimed at consolidating the ruling party’s grip on power.

“These allegations do not originate from third-wayists—who, as we now know, are spineless and tactless critics—but rather serve the sole purpose of bolstering ZANU’s interests,” Mpofu stated. “Those who peddle this falsehood must either produce concrete evidence or be exposed as ZANU apologists, deserving of scrutiny and criticism. We can’t go on like this.”

The bribery accusations against Chamisa have gained traction in recent days, fueling speculation and debate within political circles. However, Mpofu’s comments reflect the opposition’s firm stance against what they describe as an attempt to undermine Chamisa’s leadership and the broader democratic movement in Zimbabwe.

“If anyone has any evidence on Chamisa, let them produce it or forever hold their peace,” Mpofu concluded, challenging those making the allegations to substantiate their claims or stop perpetuating what he termed a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the opposition leader.

The ongoing political tension in Zimbabwe continues to manifest in various forms, with accusations and counteraccusations dominating the discourse. As the nation approaches a critical juncture, the integrity and unity of the opposition remain under intense scrutiny, with this latest incident serving as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those opposing the long-ruling ZANU-PF.

Government Speaks On Mpox Outbreak

THE Government says the country is on high alert to prevent the spread of Mpox formerly Monkey pox following a surge in global cases.

As the global Mpox outbreak continues to spread, over 16,000 cases and more than 500 deaths have been recorded in 75 countries.

Although Zimbabwe has not recorded any cases of Mpox, the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Douglas Mombeshora, says the government is not taking any chances, hence taking proactive measures to prevent the virus from entering its borders.

He spoke this Tuesday on the sidelines of the India-Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi, where Zimbabwe is seeking investments in various sectors which include health.

“Monkeypox is a threat to health systems in the region maybe in Africa as a whole. As you know about a week ago the Africa CDC declared Mpox a public health emergency with WHO declaring it a public health emergency.

“There are certain countries that have had Mpox for years. It has been endemic there like the DRC, but we have seen other countries which were not affected by Mpox for years having new cases. What we have been told is that there is a new strain which is a bit more virulent and this has not only affected countries in Africa, but some countries in Europe have also witnessed these new cases of Mpox.

“We as a country of Zimbabwe, of course, are part and parcel of the SADC region, Because movement is not restricted, we can end up seeing these cases escalating, but we are on high alert. We have alerted all our port health posts to be on the lookout, and, we are installing thermal scanners where you just walk through and the body temperature can be picked up and if one‘s temperature is up there is a holding room where they can be interrogated and examined.

“We have trained all our staff. We have kits to do tests for Mpox. We have done test runs to ensure that the kits are working and yes, we are on high alert and we are hoping that we will not have any cases of Mpox,” said Dr Mombeshora.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the latest MPOX outbreak in Africa a “public health emergency of international concern,” the category used in the past for outbreaks of Ebola and COVID-19.

MPOX, formerly known as Monkey pox, is an infectious disease caused by a virus.

Flu-like symptoms including fever, chills and muscle aches are typically followed by a rash that starts as raised spots, which turn into blisters filled with fluid.

Nchabeleng’s death was discovered following the suicide of her boyfriend, who was not an NWU student. His body was found at his home in Sharpeville along with a suicide note that led police to Nchabeleng’s residence. Vanderbijlpark Police Spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu confirmed that a murder investigation is underway. The boyfriend’s note indicated he had killed Nchabeleng before taking his own life. When police arrived at Nchabeleng’s residence, they found her unresponsive in bed, and paramedics confirmed her death at the scene.

Tshabangu Claims Power to Secure Release of Prince Dubeko-Sibanda

By A Correspondent

Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-appointed interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change, has claimed he has the power to secure the release of jailed former Binga North MP Prince Dubeko-Sibanda.

Sibanda was arrested last week on charges of inciting public violence.

“As his leader, I will ensure his release,” Tshabangu declared on Tuesday.

“Although we may have ideological differences, his status as an opposition member outweighs everything. Regardless of his stance after my efforts, I am committed to his freedom as it is his constitutional right.”

Prosecutors allege that between August 1 and August 16, 2024, Sibanda used Citizens Coalition for Change WhatsApp groups and his X handle, Prince Dubeko Sibanda/@Dubeko Sibanda, to incite party members to engage in violent activities, including barricading roads and burning shops and tyres.

EMA spokesperson, Ms. Amkela Sidange, emphasized that the crackdown is part of an ongoing nationwide initiative to combat littering. “The public has embraced the anti-litter monitoring initiative, and each province and district now has groups of volunteers dedicated to maintaining a clean environment,” Sidange told *The Herald*.

She clarified that these volunteers are not responsible for cleaning up after offenders but are focused on ensuring that the environment remains litter-free. The initiative will continue to be enforced across the country as part of broader efforts to promote responsible waste management.

Ruwa Man Remanded in Custody for Cocaine Possession

Ruwa, Zimbabwe — A local man from Ruwa, Tafadzwa Mpofu, has been remanded in custody after being found in possession of six sachets of cocaine with a combined mass of 4 grams. The incident has sparked concern over the growing presence of illegal drugs in the area.

Mpofu was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics unit in Harare. Acting on a tip-off, detectives approached Mpofu at around 4:30 AM, conducted a body search, and discovered the six sachets of suspected cocaine hidden in his right trouser pocket.

After the discovery, Mpofu was immediately taken into custody and transported to the CID Drugs and Narcotics headquarters, where a field test confirmed that the substance was indeed cocaine. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at ZWL$2,800.

Mpofu appeared in court later that day, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. The court has since remanded him in custody, with the next hearing scheduled for September 4, when he will appear in a different court for plea recording and trial proceedings.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug-related crimes in Zimbabwe. Authorities have pledged to continue their efforts to curb the distribution and use of dangerous drugs in communities across the country.

The public is urged to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or possession to the nearest police station as part of a collective effort to maintain safety and security.

New Home For Warriors Hopeful

The club plays in the Northern Premier League East Division

A statement by the club reads: “We are delighted to welcome Michael Ndiweni to the club

“The 20 year old striker joined the Newcastle academy in 2016, signing his first professional contract with the club in July 2022 which was later extended in the summer of 2023. Mpox Spreads Across Africa

Grisly Murder At University Campus

The North-West University (NWU) Vaal Campus is in mourning after 22-year-old Mamohlotsi Rebecca Nchabeleng, a fourth-year BEd student from Tafelkop, was found murdered in her room at a private residence on Monday, 19 August 2024.

This tragedy comes just one day after a devastating car accident claimed the lives of six NWU Vaal Campus students.

Police Sacrifice Daily for Our Safety

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Lawyer Tinomudaishe Chinyoka recently questioned why there are no reported injuries among police officers during alleged shootouts with suspected armed robbers. These comments, however, show a lack of understanding of the dangers police officers face daily.

For example, in Bulawayo, a police officer, Constable Gibson Tafara Madzimure, 35, was tragically shot and killed by armed robbers in New Luveve suburb while on duty. He was shot in the head at the home of an alleged illegal foreign currency dealer, Last Mukomawashe, and succumbed to his injuries on arrival at Mpilo Central Hospital. Does Chinyoka remember this? Probably not. But the Madzimure family lost a son who died serving his country. Their loss is a painful reminder that the safety we enjoy is often secured by the blood of these brave officers.

Police officers are committed to making our communities safer by preventing and thoroughly investigating crime, supporting victims, and bringing offenders to justice. They work tirelessly to build stronger, more resilient communities and provide a modern police force that meets the needs of the public they serve.

Armed robbery is a serious crime that demands an appropriate response from the police. When someone questions why officers weren’t injured during a shootout, they overlook the daily risks officers face. Every day, police officers encounter situations that could quickly turn deadly, whether it’s a domestic violence call or a robbery. These routine encounters are fraught with danger, and the officer’s primary goal is to protect themselves and the public while apprehending criminals.

Instead of applauding the police for minimizing injuries during combat, questioning their survival is not only irresponsible but also demoralizing. The statistics speak for themselves: Zimbabwean law enforcement has seen an increase in line-of-duty deaths over the past decade, with the leading causes being firearms-related ambush attacks, traffic-related incidents, and exposure to diseases like COVID-19. These dangers take a significant toll, with studies showing that law enforcement officers have a higher suicide rate than any other profession, and many suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

High-profile ambush attacks capture public attention, but much of the danger police face comes from routine situations that can suddenly turn violent. Ambush attacks are nearly impossible to predict or prevent, but awareness, vigilance, and proper equipment can help police departments mitigate these risks. Police officers risk their lives every day to protect us, and many join the force seeking discipline, stability, and a chance to serve the community.

The police are essential for protecting the vulnerable, defending the marginalized, and maintaining order. Despite the low pay and high risk, they continue to serve with dedication. Some officers suffer from job-related injuries that affect their quality of life, yet they continue to do the best they can. They don’t need to be criticized for surviving; instead, they should be supported and honored for their service.

Every time a police officer goes on duty, they face unknown dangers. They put their lives on the line to ensure we live in a peaceful and protected society. Their presence deters crime and reassures the public. The police must stay alive to continue protecting our communities and to foster trust and confidence.

Cde Chinyoka’s anti-police sentiments are not only misguided but also harmful to the law-abiding citizens who rely on the police for safety. By ignoring the challenges police face, he overlooks the very real dangers they confront every day. Police officers are far more likely to be shot by a robber than to shoot a robber themselves.

Chinyoka’s comments are unfortunate, sad, and deeply disturbing. The work of the police is crucial to maintaining public safety. It isn’t just about dealing with minor crimes; it’s about ensuring that people feel safe in their homes and communities. Criticizing police for not being injured in the line of duty undermines public confidence in policing and does a disservice to those who protect us. If a robber dies in a shootout, it’s unfortunate, but the police have a right to defend themselves. When an officer survives a dangerous encounter, we should celebrate their survival, not scrutinize it.

Chamisa Hints At Massive Come-Back

THE STRUGGLE FOR A NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE- WHERE WE ARE…

It has not been easy to stand for right, truth and the authentic alternative. I can understand the struggle fatigue.

Chamisa MP Jailed Over SADC Summit

By Political Reporter- The former opposition legislator, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, who was arrested in Beitbridge on the day of the SADC summit, has been remanded in custody.

He appeared in court on allegations of inciting violence during the just-ended 44th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.

He was remanded in custody until Friday for a bail application.

The court heard that during the period extending from August 1, 2024 to August 16, 2024, the accused posted in WhatsApp groups, and his X handle named Prince Dubeko Sibanda/@Dubeko Sibanda inciting members of CCC to engage in violent activities.
Sibanda posted some of the following words, “Unless the SADC creates a platform where the Heads of State will engage Zimbabweans on the SEOM report & other issues, we will create a platform to meet with them in the streets of Harare.
“No intimidation will stop us. Let’s shut down Harare in August. Let’s barricade the streets in Harare. Let’s burn tyres and use old cars”.
Some of the messages were captured as screenshots by witnesses and were submitted to the police.
The court heard that as a result of the incitement, High Glen Road was barricaded and tyres were burnt along the road at Mukonono river bridge, Marimba, thereby endangering the free movement of persons and traffic using that road on August 16, 2024 at around 4.30am.
On August 17, 2024, a team of detectives from CID Beitbridge saw the accused at Beitbridge Border Post and arrested him.
