The recent decision by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to deny the late former Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Eunice Sandi Moyo national heroine status has ignited a wave of outrage across Matabeleland.
This development has intensified long-standing grievances among the region’s populace, who feel increasingly marginalized by the ruling elite in Harare.
Eunice Sandi Moyo, a prominent political figure and a dedicated public servant, was widely respected in Matabeleland for her commitment to regional development and her advocacy for the rights of marginalized communities.
Her contributions, many argue, merit recognition on a national scale. However, the government’s refusal to bestow upon her the revered status of a national heroine has been met with accusations of systemic bias and regional discrimination.
Matabeleland, a region with a complex and often tumultuous history with the central government, has long felt the brunt of political and economic marginalization. The denial of national heroine status to Sandi Moyo is viewed by many as yet another slight in a series of perceived injustices.
Civic leaders and local politicians have expressed their dismay, emphasizing that such decisions exacerbate existing tensions and hinder national unity.
Prominent voices from Matabeleland have been vocal about their disappointment. “This decision is not just an insult to the legacy of Eunice Sandi Moyo but also to the people of Matabeleland who saw her as a beacon of hope and progress,” remarked a local leader.
The sentiment is echoed widely, with many fearing that the refusal to honor Sandi Moyo appropriately will deepen the chasm between Matabeleland and the central government.
Critics argue that the ruling ZANU-PF party, under Mnangagwa, has repeatedly shown reluctance to recognize and celebrate contributions from Matabeleland leaders, thereby perpetuating a narrative of exclusion. They point to a pattern where accolades and national honors seem disproportionately awarded to individuals from other regions, reinforcing the sense of marginalization in Matabeleland.
The government, on its part, has remained largely silent on the specific reasons behind the decision. However, supporters of Mnangagwa’s administration suggest that the criteria for national hero status are stringent and not influenced by regional biases. They urge for a nuanced understanding of the selection process, although this does little to assuage the discontent brewing in Matabeleland.
In the wake of this decision, there are growing calls for a reassessment of how national hero statuses are conferred. Advocates for reform argue for a more transparent and inclusive process that genuinely reflects the diverse contributions of leaders from all regions of Zimbabwe. Such reforms, they suggest, could foster a greater sense of national cohesion and mitigate regional disparities.
As Zimbabwe navigates this controversy, the legacy of Eunice Sandi Moyo remains a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for recognition and equality faced by many in Matabeleland. The uproar surrounding her denied national heroine status is not just a reflection of regional dissatisfaction but also a call to action for more equitable governance that honors the contributions of all Zimbabweans, irrespective of their regional affiliations.

The wily Zanu PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has been under intense scrutiny for allegedly rigging the 2023 polls, appears to have managed to coax the Southern African Development Community (SADC) into a more favorable stance, if a photograph he posted on Wednesday is anything to go by.
Mnangagwa, who has faced widespread criticism for purportedly subverting the will of the Zimbabwean people in the August 2023 elections, shared an image on social media that suggests a successful engagement with SADC officials.
This has sparked a flurry of reactions and speculation about the true nature of SADC’s position on Zimbabwe’s electoral controversy.
In a statement on Facebook, Mnangagwa detailed the meeting: “This morning, I was honoured to receive the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elias Magosi, at State House. He was accompanied by key directors from SADC.
We had fruitful discussions on our shared goals for the region and the recent SADC Extraordinary Summit, where we addressed economic development, regional security, and climate resilience. #Zimbabwe #SADC.”
The photograph and the accompanying statement aim to convey a sense of normalcy and cooperation between Zimbabwe and the regional body, despite the ongoing allegations against Mnangagwa.
Critics argue that this move is part of a broader strategy to gain legitimacy and deflect attention from the contentious election results.
Mnangagwa’s ability to engage with SADC officials could be seen as an attempt to mend Zimbabwe’s image and assert his position as the legitimate leader.
However, the effectiveness of this strategy in quelling both domestic and international dissent remains to be seen.
While the details of the discussions with SADC were not disclosed, the reference to economic development, regional security, and climate resilience indicates a broad agenda that aligns with SADC’s regional priorities.
This alignment might help Mnangagwa garner support or at least neutralize opposition within the regional bloc.
Observers will be closely monitoring SADC’s next moves and statements to assess whether this meeting signifies a shift in the regional body’s stance or merely a diplomatic engagement without substantive changes in policy or perspective on Zimbabwe’s electoral integrity.
The controversy surrounding the 2023 elections in Zimbabwe is far from over, and Mnangagwa’s recent interactions with SADC will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative and influencing future developments in the region.

Police in Mwenezi last week made a significant drug bust, intercepting a cross-border bus and arresting a passenger, Janet Mutarisi (39), for unlawful possession of 42 kilogrammes of mbanje (dagga).
The interception occurred at the 143-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road, a notorious route for contraband smuggling.
Authorities reported that the mbanje was meticulously concealed in two large boxes, stashed underneath the tent of the bus trailer. This method of hiding the drugs suggests a calculated attempt to evade detection by law enforcement.
The arrest of Mutarisi is part of a broader effort by police to clamp down on the trafficking of illegal substances across borders. The strategic location of the bust, along a major transportation route, highlights the vigilance and proactive measures being undertaken by the authorities to curb drug smuggling activities.
A Mwenezi police source , when reached for comment, emphasized the ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and combating drug-related crimes in the region.
“We are continually enhancing our surveillance and inspection procedures to ensure that we intercept illegal substances before they reach our communities,” the ZRP source stated
Janet Mutarisi is expected to face serious charges related to drug possession and trafficking, which carry heavy penalties under Zimbabwean law.
This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with the illegal drug trade and the rigorous enforcement actions that those involved can expect.
The case has drawn significant attention and is likely to prompt further investigations into the networks and individuals involved in drug trafficking operations.
The authorities have underscored the importance of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities, which is crucial for effective law enforcement.
As the case develops, it will be closely watched by both the public and those within the legal and criminal justice sectors.
The successful interception and arrest demonstrate the effectiveness of the current measures in place, but also highlight the ongoing challenge of combating drug trafficking in the region.
Shurugwi Employer Sentenced to Three Years in Jail for Shooting Employee, Matching Fraudster Wicknell Chivayo’s Term
In a striking turn of events reminiscent of the judicial outcome faced by convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivayo, Tawanda Darangwa, a 41-year-old man from Shurugwi, has been sentenced to a net three years in prison after shooting his employee. The sentence handed down by Gweru Regional Magistrate Christopher Maturure aligns with the duration that Chivayo previously spent behind bars, emphasizing a unique parallel in legal repercussions for vastly different crimes.
Darangwa, who faced charges of attempted murder for his violent conduct, was initially sentenced to five years. However, two of those years have been suspended on the condition of good behavior, effectively placing him in confinement for the same period as Chivayo. This comparison sheds light on the judicial system’s handling of crimes involving personal harm and financial deceit under similar punitive durations.
The incident, which occurred on September 22, 2021, at Gutsaruzhinji Cooperative in Shurugwi, involved Darangwa shooting his female employee, Marian Gwasarira, with a Pietro Berreta pistol, inflicting a shoulder wound. The motives behind Darangwa’s actions remain unclear, but the consequences have been decisively outlined by the court.
During the sentencing, Magistrate Maturure took into account several mitigating factors. He noted Darangwa’s intoxicated state at the time of the crime, which may have impaired his judgment, and his subsequent remorse. After the shooting, Darangwa not only transported Gwasarira to Gweru for medical treatment but also contributed $2,000 towards her medical bills—a gesture indicating repentance.
Nevertheless, the magistrate underscored the gravity of Darangwa’s offense, particularly highlighting the vulnerability of the victim. “What makes your crime more serious is that you used a weapon on a defenseless woman, especially since the victim was your employee,” Magistrate Maturure remarked, emphasizing the breach of trust inherent in employer-employee relationships.
This case not only brings to the fore the issue of workplace safety but also echoes the judicial system’s stance on personal accountability, as seen in Chivayo’s case. Both individuals have on their heads three years reflecting on their actions behind bars, serving as a cautionary tale for personal conduct, whether it involves financial malfeasance or direct physical harm.
Public Prosecutor Sibangani Thando Dube represented the state, advocating for justice for Gwasarira, while Darangwa’s defense was managed by Kwande Legal Practitioners. The outcome of this case sends a clear message about the consequences of harmful actions, paralleling the punishment previously seen in high-profile fraud cases.

The 2030 Agenda as it is currently conceived , constructed & promoted through intimidating Sloganeering is a very narrow mission that noone should lose sleep over.
Its proponents want those it will serve to be physically around up to 2030 lording over us. Yes , 2030 only .
The message one seems to get from all this is materialism not ideas , accumulation not philosophical , entitlement not regeneration .
If these things mattered then Proverbs and Ecclesiastes would not have outlived the material accumulation of King Solomon , the splendour and majesty of his palaces, the sheer force of his horses and chariots , his £2.3 trillion gold fortune etc.
Where are these now ? Only the ideas upon which Solomon ‘s wisdom was famed survived !
The world is ruled by dead men . We must be ready to die not unready because we and our acolytes have not yet finished the harvest and accumulation of the material , but because in our wake we have planted a lasting legacy that will be celebrated and inspire future generations and continue to give them an identity long after we are gone. Ideas unlimited.
True – all of the ideologies that serve as the foundation of governments , religion , social and economic institutions were inspired by the dead . Legacy of ideas.
Just as precedence , we change names of buildings and roads we did not build and name them after ourselves , so will the buildings , bridges and roads we have built by future generations. But ideas we did not generate, cannot be changed or named after self.
The grave has failed to contain the influence and ideas of men like Jesus Christ, Prophet Muhammad, Karl Max, Charles Darwin, Keynes etc .
Although a victim of November 2017 , at some stage during that eventful week for a moment in all the euphoria , I thought wow these gentlemen are up to something , when they were waving the Constitution invoking terms like ” Operation Restore Legacy ” …what caught my attention was the word “legacy” and the document they were waving , the Constitution , an amalgam of ideas on how we had agreed to govern ourselves.
If we had gone off the rails of this sacrosanct set of ideas, we deserved to be corrected but only
constitutionally i figured out , hence my long stay from it all to this day .
To therefore watch and see the very people who stood on higher ground correcting , seemingly repeating the same things they sought to correct is the zenith of insincerity and unpatriotic acts.
Give me and many of us plausible justifications for 2030 and we will give you a lifetime, we will open the graves for you, because 2030 will be too short .
Long and short , so far you have a badly packaged case that should end in 2028 , no more .

A Chipinge n’anga, Kudakwashe Chinhara, aged 22, has been brought before the Shurugwi Magistrate’s Court, charged with fraudulently obtaining over ZAR 12,000 and US$340 from Isaac Mudzengi, a 45-year-old truck driver.
Mudzengi, who was seeking compensation from his employer, the South African company N.R Group, after a work-related injury, turned to Chinhara in desperation. Chinhara, hailing from Chikwanda Village under Chief Chivese in Chipinge, allegedly promised swift results through mystical interventions.
The situation escalated when Chinhara initially demanded ZAR 1,200, assuring that Mudzengi’s compensation would be processed within two days. After receiving a falsified message about his compensation being ready, Mudzengi was led further down a costly path by Chinhara’s continuous demands. These included putting Mukuru employees under a spell and removing a supposed goblin bringing bad fortune, which cost Mudzengi more money and even his property.
The deceit spiraled as Chinhara further claimed that spirits were threatening Mudzengi’s son, prompting more financial demands. The scam came to light when only a fraction of the extorted money, ZAR 200, was recovered upon Chinhara’s arrest following Mudzengi’s report to the police.
This case has sparked outrage and a critical discussion on the ethical practices and credibility of traditional healers. The court proceedings, led by Magistrate Percy Mukumba, are closely watched as the community seeks justice for the exploited victims of fraudulent spiritual promises.
In the wake of alarming incidents such as the recent Chipinge n’anga case, it becomes imperative to address the dangers posed by individuals promising miraculous solutions to desperate situations. Often, these self-proclaimed miracle workers exploit the vulnerabilities of those in distress, capitalizing on the hope that an extraordinary intervention can overturn a dire situation. However, it is crucial to remember that such promises lack any scientific basis and often, any real accountability. The absence of checks and balances in the realm of supernatural claims allows charlatans to operate unchecked, leaving a trail of financial and emotional devastation.
The allure of quick fixes and supernatural solutions can be strong, especially in times of personal crisis or hardship. Yet, it’s important for individuals to approach such offers with a critical eye and seek verification before committing resources or belief. Engaging in due diligence, such as researching the background of the service provider, seeking second opinions, and even consulting recognized authorities in the field, can protect against deceit. Public education on these matters should be intensified, empowering citizens with knowledge about the typical tactics used by scammers and the logical fallacies often employed to lure in victims.
Lastly, it is incumbent upon regulators and community leaders to establish and enforce stricter guidelines and oversight concerning claims of supernatural interventions. By implementing stringent standards and penalties, alongside promoting transparency, society can better shield its members from exploitation. Fostering a culture of skepticism and critical thinking will also play a crucial role in countering the spread of these harmful practices. In sum, while the need for hope is undeniably human, it should not lead to suspension of reason or expose individuals to further harm.

By Showbiz Reporter | The socialite Mai Titi (Felistas Murata) destroys President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s reputation as a sane man in a series of leaks published by ZimEye.
This program springs from exclusive State House footage recorded at the Head Of State’s Kwekwe farm that has a history of multiple controversies regarding loose women and embarrassing sexual escapades one of which he was once caught in the act by his wife, Auxillia, fleeing into the thick green maize field in the melee.
In the upcoming imagery, Mnangagwa is revealed as the leader who seems addicted to whisky, as he has for years been rumoured to be. “ED makes national decisions over a glass of whisky,” said a G40 faction member in the period he unleashed soldiers onto protesters after single handedly changing the price of fuel, in 2019.
The weekly ZimEye series, contains imagery that has been banned by State House after Mai Titi had posted the first video clip before being ordered to take it down, and being slightly reprimanded over it.

Citizens’ leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has resolutely pledged to alter Zimbabwe’s prevailing narrative of international isolation and negativity, promising a future filled with pride, transformation, opportunities, and prosperity.
Speaking on Wednesday, Chamisa shared a poignant anecdote highlighting the grim perception of Zimbabwe abroad. “Image is everything,” he began, underscoring the importance of international reputation.
He recounted a story from a Zimbabwean businessman who recently traveled to Ivory Coast.
During the trip to Boulevard Beach Resort in Abidjan, the businessman passed through a disordered and dirty slum community.
“Shockingly, the tour guide revealed that this slum was named ‘Zimbabwe,'” Chamisa narrated. The guide explained that the name symbolized the chaos, disorder, and filth characterizing the area.
The businessman, who had not disclosed his nationality, was taken aback by this stark and negative representation of his homeland.
“This revelation reflects the painful perception of our beloved country by others elsewhere, even from the African continent,” Chamisa lamented.
He noted that such views persist despite Zimbabwe being endowed with significant natural resources, including the largest lithium deposits in Africa.
“Such a harsh reality goes to show how broken politics and rigged, disputed, and illegal elections have cast a long shadow on our beautiful nation,” he added.
Chamisa’s vision for Zimbabwe is one of radical change. “The Zimbabwean story will change.
We will reclaim and transform the Zimbabwean story into one of pride, transformation, opportunities, and prosperity,” he declared, emphasizing the urgent need for political and social reform.
In his speech, Chamisa reiterated his commitment to fostering a positive international image and creating a prosperous future for Zimbabweans.
He ended his address with a call to unity and optimism, rallying the nation with the hashtags #changeisgood and #OnePeople.
Advocate Chamisa’s message resonated with many who believe in the potential for a new Zimbabwe, free from the shadows of its past and ready to embrace a future of dignity and growth.

Good morning Zimbabwe. Dear Christopher Mutsvangwa,
While you moan about Monica Mutsvangwa having increased bouts of high blood pressure on the thought of your morbidly obese son Neville’s continuous incarceration at Remand, please kindly advise your family Dr to either increase the dosage of whatever BP medication Monica has been prescribed or try an alternative medicine to the already prescribed.
Our people are being affected by blood pressure due to the increased financial woes facing them. Our people are even dying of blood pressure due to the fact that they cannot afford the medication, all this thanks to your entitlement and looting in government whilst abusing ZanuPF to destroy our people and what Zimbabweis capable of. As of Monica I am pretty sure her blood pressure is a result of her own unwise lifestyle choices unlike our impoverished people of Zimbabwe who have no choices. Monica her situation can be different if she has a new approach to her lifestyle and repent from looting, money laundering or stepping on Extra Darkness Mnangagwa’s toes serving her son from being a criminal who ends up a jailbird. I am pretty sure if all the above suggestions mentioned are considered ,Monica might save herself from having bouts of high blood pressure since she is a cry baby . Ehuhuweeeee, nyalala nhanha Monicaaaaa…ehuhuhuweeee Nevhi ngaagare ikoko kusvika ati agura humbavha. Ndikoko, pasi nembavha✊️

By Political Reporter- The War Veterans League Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with President Mnangagwa to discuss the party’s succession issue.
Mnangagwa is serving his 2nd and final term in both the party and the government and is supposed to hand over power to his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
However, Mnangagwa seems to be refusing to step down, as evidenced by his 2030 campaign, which his close associates are fronting.
Mnangagwa’s meeting with the war vets was the first time since the establishment of the wing two years ago.
Sources within those who attended the meeting say the War Vets wanted to know Mnangagwa’s succession plan.
” It was a frank meeting, and we asked the President to state to us what his plans are on who will succeed him, although we clearly know that the VP is the second in-command and should automatically take-over. Our worry is that the President wants to behave the Mugabe way and that is what we have told him,” said one of the former liberation fighters we can not name because he will be victimised.
The war veterans, once an affiliate of the party, are now a fully-fledged wing of Zanu PF.
Zanu PF Secretary for War Veterans, Cde Douglas Mahiya, Wednesday told reporters, “This one is the first one ever since the formation of the League in 2022.”
War veterans were instrumental in the coup that ousted former President Robert Mugabe in November 2017.
The former liberation war fighters mobilised Zimbabweans, misleading them into believing that Mugabe was a stumbling block to the country’s democracy and prosperity.
They also deceived the then main opposition, MDC-T, promising a unity government after Mugabe’s removal, only to abandon them after using them to mobilise against the former leader.
The war vets then placed Mnangagwa in Mugabe’s position and made Chiwenga the deputy, agreeing that Mnangagwa would step down for Chiwenga in 2028.
However, Mnangagwa’s close associates have started campaigning for his indefinite rule, closing the doors for Chiwenga.
Zimbabwe Announces Long-Awaited Medical Aid and Economic Support for War Veterans.
Harare, Zimbabwe – In a move that has caught the attention of many, Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced a new package of medical aid and economic opportunities for war veterans, who have waited 44 years for such recognition. The announcement comes on the heels of another significant political gesture—a compensation plan for dispossessed white farmers that was unveiled just last week.
During a passionate address to members of the War Veterans League, President Mnangagwa pledged comprehensive support, saying, “My administration is ready to facilitate the broad-based empowerment of your membership so that you fully participate in the economy, as well as the ongoing industrialisation, modernisation, and national development agenda.”
This policy shift is seen as part of a broader effort to secure support ahead of Zanu PF’s elective congress later this year. Mnangagwa’s administration has faced criticism over the delayed fulfillment of promises to veterans, a crucial constituency that has shown signs of growing impatience.
The President has tasked the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs and the War Veterans Board with expediting the implementation of these new benefits. “As the lead ministry and institutions administering key legislative functions concerning war veterans of the liberation struggle, you must be innovative, work harder, and make strategic decisions to cater to the welfare and concerns of our veterans,” Mnangagwa stated.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and political consciousness among the veterans, urging them to develop and implement programs that support the restructuring and re-organization of the War Veterans League. This includes organization from the local to the national level, adhering to the party’s stringent constitutional democratic processes.
The announcement has been met with mixed reactions. While many veterans welcome the long-overdue recognition and support, others remain skeptical about the timing and the actual implementation of these promises.
Political analysts suggest that this strategic move is not only about addressing the grievances of war veterans but also about solidifying a base of support in the face of potential challenges within the party and the broader political landscape of Zimbabwe.
As Zimbabwe heads towards its elective congress, the eyes of the nation and international observers will be closely watching how these new policies unfold and their impact on the political stability of the country.
By A Correspondent| Zimbabwean professor based in South Africa found himself in a harrowing situation after allegedly being abducted by a group of eight men aiming to steal his cryptocurrency holdings worth US$13 billion, a court has heard.
Sixty-year-old Moses Chademana was granted bail of US$1,000 and will remain out of custody until his next court appearance on June 13, as decided by Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa. Chademana is facing charges of kidnapping and impersonation in relation to the abduction of Sheperd Sikhosana and his wife, Sekayi Adelpha.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti stated that on May 13, 2024, Chademana and his accomplices in South Africa devised a plan to abduct Sikhosana and his wife. The group, posing as Interpol agents, consisted of five individuals of African descent and two Caucasians.
The court was informed that the accused approached Sikhosana, questioning his association with Falcon Gold Digital Forensic and Crypto Recovery Services, a company that Sikhosana had enlisted to recover his wife’s hacked cryptocurrency.
Feigning a threat, the kidnappers falsely claimed that Russians had been hired to assassinate the couple. Under this pretense, they coerced Sikhosana and his wife into their vehicle for purported further interrogation at Interpol Zimbabwe.
The kidnappers then drove the couple from Johannesburg, bypassing immigration procedures at the Beitbridge border. Once in Beitbridge, they handed over Sikhosana and his wife to Chademana at an Engen service station.
Identifying themselves as Interpol Harare detectives, Chademana and an accomplice allegedly confiscated Sikhosana’s cellphones and transported the couple to Harare, where they were housed at a lodge. The victims were warned not to inform anyone about their predicament.
Upon learning that a kidnapping report had been filed, Chademana forced Sikhosana to fabricate a story for his relatives, falsely claiming he had traveled to Zimbabwe voluntarily.
However, taking advantage of a moment when their captors were not present, Sikhosana and his wife managed to alert a relative about their abduction and provided their location, leading to Chademana’s arrest.
By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has been held accountable for the shooting of a civilian during the 2019 protests over fuel price hikes, leading to a successful lawsuit against the Defence Ministry.
Felix Mafondokoto, a resident of Chitungwiza, was awarded US$29,182 in compensation after being shot in the backside during the military’s crackdown on the protests. Mafondokoto, represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, filed a lawsuit against the Defence Minister and the army commander, seeking compensation for pain and suffering, medical expenses, and loss of earnings.
Court documents reveal that Mafondokoto was accompanying a friend when soldiers indiscriminately attacked civilians, resulting in a soldier accidentally discharging a firearm and shooting Mafondokoto. Although the army denied being deployed on the day of the incident, the court ruled in Mafondokoto’s favor, holding the defendants vicariously liable for the negligent conduct of their officer.
The magistrate concluded that Mafondokoto suffered permanent injuries, including ongoing pain and a limited ability to work. Consequently, he was awarded compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, contumelia, and loss of earnings, totaling US$29,182.
The following is a statement that has been released by a ZANU PF party Facebook blogger following secret meetings CCC leader Welshman Ncube has had with ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa:
To Sustain Zimbabwe’s Developmental Momentum, the notion of suspending elections until 2030 is proposed, a measure designed to maintain the dynamic progress achieved under the leadership of the Second Republic. This bold strategy may raise eyebrows, yet it merits deep contemplation given its potential to enhance the nation’s long-term prosperity.
Under President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the Second Republic has launched pivotal initiatives aimed at rejuvenating Zimbabwe’s economy and elevating the well-being of its people. From pioneering the Zimbabwe Gold currency to making significant advances in the lithium sector, these initiatives are catalyzing a palpable sense of optimism and tangible growth throughout the nation.
The role of political stability in nurturing and advancing these positive changes cannot be overstated. By deferring elections until 2030, the government can dedicate undivided attention and continuity to these transformative efforts, ensuring they fully materialize without the typical disturbances of frequent electoral cycles.
Critics might contend that halting elections temporarily contradicts principles of democratic governance. However, it is vital to juxtapose this concern with the imperative to consolidate and build upon the economic strides achieved. Setting a definitive pause on elections, coupled with a firm commitment to resuming democratic procedures by 2030, might just offer the crucial breathing room required for Zimbabwe’s development initiatives to root deeply and thrive.
As Zimbabwe strides towards a flourishing future, it becomes crucial to entertain and evaluate audacious ideas that place a premium on long-term development and stability. By carefully balancing the risks and rewards, Zimbabwe stands poised to make strategic decisions that will not only define its immediate future but also ensure its prosperity for generations to come. #Vision2030
By A Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s apparent demotion of Zanu PF commissar Mike Bimha to a regular politburo member has sparked speculation about a broader strategy to consolidate his power beyond 2028, sources claim.
On Monday evening, ruling party secretary-general Obert Mpofu announced the appointment of Munyaradzi Machacha, previously the principal at the Chitepo School of Ideology, as the new commissar. Additionally, Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda swapped roles with Patrick Chinamasa, who moved from treasurer general to secretary for legal affairs.
Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa and party information director Farai Marapira were unavailable for comment on the sudden reshuffling of the party’s top decision-making body.
Insiders suggest that Bimha was surprised by the move, learning of his new status only through the press statement. Some sources allege that Bimha fell out of favor with the President due to perceived shortcomings in his mobilization efforts and criticism of Mnangagwa’s political ambitions. Bimha’s alleged failure to organize Thank You rallies after the 2023 elections, which were viewed as crucial for consolidating Mnangagwa’s power beyond 2028, also contributed to his purported demotion.
Mudenda’s reported promotion may be tied to his rapid facilitation of the recall of opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators, aiding Zanu PF in securing a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
Chinamasa’s new role is speculated to involve drafting legislation aimed at extending Mnangagwa’s tenure beyond 2028. However, constitutional constraints pose a challenge, as Section 91(2) prohibits an incumbent president from seeking a third term.
Exiled former minister Walter Mzembi suggested that Mnangagwa’s reshuffle reflects his agenda for 2030. Reports also indicate that Zanu PF has been engaging in discussions with the CCC, led by Welshman Ncube, as part of Mnangagwa’s broader strategy.
Human rights advocate Aaron Hamauswa warned against amending the constitution to benefit the incumbent, emphasizing the threat such actions pose to democracy and the rule of law.
Since assuming power in 2017, Mnangagwa has frequently reshuffled his political commissars, highlighting the strategic importance of these positions in his administration’s plans.
By A Correspondent| Neville Mutsvangwa, the son of Zanu-PF stalwarts Monica and Christopher Mutsvangwa, will remain in custody for an additional five days as his bail hearing has been rescheduled to May 27.
Mutsvangwa, aged 44, was detained on charges related to forex trading and money laundering two weeks ago. Initially denied bail by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi, he appealed the decision at the High Court.
The ruling was slated for Wednesday; however, the Investigating Officer’s written account of the proceedings was absent from the case file, prompting a postponement.
Notably, several other individuals facing similar accusations have been granted bail. According to lawyer Moses Mapanga, three of his clients secured bail due to the absence of compelling reasons to detain them further.
By A Correspondent| The fraudulent activities of a notorious couple, Florence (née Behane) Pambukani and Felix Pambukani have ensnared more unsuspecting victims as additional home seekers have come forward with their harrowing accounts.
This follows an exposé detailing the Pambukanis’ illegal land sales in Harare, which has drawn widespread outrage and calls for justice.
The Pambukanis, previously convicted of defrauding Lonrho Zimbabwe and serving eight-year prison terms, have allegedly resumed their illicit operations at Crowhill Farm, posing as rightful landowners and duping desperate buyers. Despite a High Court order and a subsequent Supreme Court confirmation, barring them from selling the disputed property, the couple continues their deceitful practices.
Victims of this scam, frustrated and helpless, have turned to local media to voice their grievances and demand intervention. One such victim, preferring to remain anonymous, lamented, “We are tired of their tricks; we need our money back.”
The controversial property, Chirika Extension of Borrowdale Estate, is legally owned by Crowhill Private Limited and spans 121.4029 hectares. High Court Justice Webster Chinamora’s 2021 order, which mandated the eviction of all illegal occupants, remains unheeded as buyers, misled by the Pambukanis, resist eviction.
Crowhill Farm officials have made efforts to rectify the situation by inviting affected individuals to regularize their land status or face eviction. However, the Pambukanis’ ongoing activities have left many in financial ruin. A legal occupant of Crowhill Farm recounted their troubled history: “I know the Pambukanis after they were convicted of fraud… After their release, they came to Acorn Farm desperately seeking a stand, and we assisted them.”
The resident elaborated on their fraudulent methods, noting Florence’s failed attempt to infiltrate the Acorn Farm leadership and subsequent secret formation of the Acorn Township Developing Association for financial gain. “The Pambukanis own a mere stand, a tiny fraction of Cleverhill Estate, far from where they are selling and leasing to unsuspecting individuals. Their rightful stand, number 720, is clearly marked on the map,” he added.
Attempts to reach the Pambukanis for comment were unsuccessful as their phones remained unreachable at the time of publication.
This isn’t the first instance of the Pambukanis’ unscrupulous behavior. They have a history of claiming connections to senior government officials and have previously evicted farmers from their land. Last year, they reportedly hired armed thugs to attack workers at Wakefield Farm in the Selous Area 5, leading to severe injuries and the displacement of 35 families. In 2008, their illegal takeover of Scotsdale Farm culminated in the tragic death of the rightful owner, Kobus Joubert, in 2010.
The victims and the public are now urging the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission to take decisive action against the Pambukanis. The local publication that first uncovered this scandal has called for a thorough investigation to bring justice to the affected home seekers and prevent further fraudulent activities.

By A Correspondent – Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is constructing a law school in Kwekwe, it has emerged.
This development was revealed by a source from the ruling Zanu PF party.
The initiative has been highlighted on the Zanu PF Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, which shared the progress being made on the project.
“The construction of the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Law School in #Kwekwe is going super smoothly,” the post stated.
The announcement has been met with a cacophony of reactions, as it underscores the government’s focus on enhancing educational infrastructure.
The Facebook post further elaborated on the broader significance of the project, noting, “It’s amazing to see how our government is putting in efforts to capacitate institutions and help us achieve our #Vision2030.”
Vision 2030 is Mnangagwa’s ambitious plan to transform the country into an upper-middle-income economy by the year 2030.
Some critics argue Mnangagwa is using the vision 2030 maxim to circumvent constitutional principles and stay in power.
The new law school in Kwekwe is expected to provide state-of-the-art facilities and a curriculum designed to meet international standards.
It is anticipated that this institution will play a crucial role in advancing the rule of law and fostering legal expertise in Zimbabwe.
“As the law school nears completion, it is poised to become a cornerstone of legal education in the region,” a Zanu PF source claimed.
The Zanu PF leader’s efforts have been praised by supporters who view the law school as a positive step towards achieving national development goals.
However, critics may scrutinize the initiative, questioning the allocation of resources and the broader implications for the country’s educational landscape.
South Africa’s Electoral Commission Assures Election Security, Deems Rigging “Impossible”
Midrand, South Africa | The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has declared that it will be nearly impossible for anyone to rig the upcoming elections on May 29. IEC board chairperson Mosotho Moepya emphasized the robustness of the security measures in place during the inauguration of the National Results Operations Centre (ROC) in Midrand.
“We have systematically evaluated our processes to ensure there are no vulnerabilities. If we find any potential loopholes, our goal is to close them immediately,” Moepya stated at the event, which was attended by representatives from hundreds of political parties, over a thousand journalists, and numerous international observers.
The ROC, now situated at the Gallagher Estate after the previous venue was deemed unusable, will serve as the central hub for monitoring the electoral process. Here, all votes will be tallied and results communicated electronically, maintaining a transparent and secure flow of information.
In an exclusive interview with IOL, Moepya detailed some of the 30 security measures, including the voter management device (VMD). This device not only prevents fraudulent voting but also ensures that the IEC does not employ ghost workers by verifying the identities of the 273,000 election volunteers. “The VMD logs detailed data on each voter’s activities, such as the time and location of their vote, enhancing our ability to monitor the election closely,” Moepya explained.
IEC Chief Electoral Officer Masego Sheburi called on the 27 million registered voters to participate actively in the election, highlighting the commission’s readiness to reflect the people’s will accurately. “Our preparations and the commitment of our vast team of staff and volunteers ensure that we can deliver a free, fair, and credible election,” Sheburi remarked.
Commissioner Janet Love reflected on the journey the IEC has undertaken to reach this point, praising the transparent recruitment of staff and the exhaustive planning that has marked the electoral process. “We are geared up not just to conduct an election but to set a benchmark in electoral integrity and management,” Love stated.
With these extensive preparations and a firm commitment to transparency, the IEC aims to foster an environment of trust and integrity, ensuring that the electoral outcome truly reflects the democratic will of the South African populace.

By Business Reporter- The government, through the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), says it is in the process of applying for an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) code for the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency as it moves to make the unit a stand-alone currency.
ISO currency codes are three-letter alphabetic codes that represent various currencies used worldwide. These codes are essential for currency trading and international settlements.
When combined, they form the symbols and cross rates used in financial transactions. For instance, USD stands for the United States Dollar, EUR represents the Euro, and JPY denotes the Japanese Yen.
The ISO currency code for the defunct Zimbabwean dollar was ZWL.
Speaking at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Zimbabwe Economics Society in Harare on Tuesday, deputy RBZ governor Innocent Matshe said:
According to our economic strategy, we believed that the success of our currency, ZiG, would depend on a limited management system, maintaining a tight monetary policy stance, controlling money supply and creating demand for the domestic currency.
This would demonstrate policy consistency, build trust in ZiG and facilitate effective communication. Let me confirm that ZiG is indeed a standalone currency.
We are currently in the process of applying for an ISO code and we expect no deviation from our initial protection policies.
Matshe claimed that Zimbabwe’s economy has been growing despite exchange rate fluctuations and inflation. He said:
It is essential to have an affordable base currency. We cannot sustain a dual currency situation indefinitely. Zimbabwe’s economy has been growing despite past instabilities, including currency fluctuations, exchange rates and inflation. However, we need to address these issues.
Matshe also pointed out that it was critical to include all sectors in currency reform, including those outside the traditional financial and banking sectors. He said:
The introduction of ZiG aimed to end the instability and create a standardised currency. Without robust reforms, our economy would not have grown significantly.
We need a framework that harnesses the potential of all sectors, including those outside the traditional financial and banking sectors.
Inclusivity is crucial and we must understand that digital finance is essential for a 21st-century economy.
We have made progress in electronic financial activities, but we need to think seriously about digitalisation.
Certainty and stability in times of crisis allow for long-term planning and investment, which is key to industrialisation.

A soldier without ideological orientation is a potential criminal- Sankara.
We spent our weekend in Harare with young revolutionaries under the capable Zimbabwe National Students Union on an ideological orientation and class conscienceness program.
The ideological question is the starting point of any political institution that is serious about governing.
The future must have clarity in answering the national question.
There’s no revolution without a revolutionary theory!

He remains in custody.
He is facing allegations of dealing in currency, unlawful cash trading, money laundering, and another charge of contravening the Postal and Telecommunication Act.
By Political Reporter- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to officiate the launch of the National Youth Service at the Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe District, Mashonaland East Province, this Friday.
Mnangagwa is reviving the youth training program that Zanu PF had abandoned for the last two decades after previously using recruits to intimidate MDC supporters.
The program was first launched in 1980 by the country’s first Youth Minister, Earnest Kadungure.
Kadungure also deployed this militia group in the Matabeleland and Midlands provinces, where it worked with the military to kill more than 20,000 people of the Ndebele ethnic group during the Gukurahundi.
Information Minister Jenfan Muswere confirmed the relaunch of the Zanu PF militia, now rebranded as the Youth Service in Zimbabwe program.

By Political Reporter – Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has returned urgently from China, where he had been for a routine medical check-up.
Chiwenga’s return follows a reshuffling of the Zanu PF politburo by President Mnangagwa on Monday during his absence.
The politburo reshuffle is believed to have undermined Chiwenga’s presidential succession ambitions ahead of the 2028 elections when Mnangagwa is constitutionally required to step down.
There is growing chaos within Zanu PF over Mnangagwa’s successor after his second and final term ends in 2028.
His supporters and close associates are campaigning for his (Mnangagwa) third term, thereby blocking Chiwenga from assuming the highest office.
Sources at Munhumutapa told ZimEye that Chiwenga rushed back from China early this week after learning about the politburo reshuffle, which was carried out without his knowledge.
“The Vice President is aware of this plot to paralyse him and is working on counter-tactics. You know he is a trained soldier and a strategist,” said the sources.
Soon after his return, Chiwenga did not rest and rushed to his office for a closed-door meeting with SADC Executive Secretary Mr. Elias Magosi.
Mr. Magosi is in the country to check on Zimbabwe’s preparedness to host the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit in Harare in August, where President Mnangagwa will assume the chairmanship of the regional bloc.

By Dr Raymond Chamba | It is difficult, nearly impossible, for any local leader to truly have a heart for Zimbabwe if they are not Zimbabwean. This is simply a fact. One must harbor a deep disdain for the people to pull off this feat of committed, sustained, structured repression.
All these great and elegant debates on policymaking are a mockery to the ordinary person and meaningless when you realize and understand the satanic indifference of our leaders to the material circumstances of the common Farai/Farisai. It takes a certain inhumanity to properly consider the man-made, accelerated, and continued destruction of our once-beautiful country to the benefit of committed looters, political plotters, and occultists.
All I prophesy is that the next change of government won’t be a pleasant TV drama affair, with old folks being cajoled to sign certain legal papers on power transfer.
There is no easy slumber nor safe sanctuary for the wicked and current Vandals, as much as they publicly wax lyrical nonchalantly and exude an attitude of control and confidence. Political karma is locked, loaded, laser-beamed, and fast ranging for their heads.
The perpetuation and hyper-acceleration of intransigence point to only one thing: the final countdown and reckoning. We are not headed for Venus.
Only Methodists could capture, sing, and guide this understanding most poignantly and accordingly with “muchazowepi kana tsuri yorira…” they would remind and challenge the soul.
Zimbabwe, cry no more. Zimbabwe, nyarara mwanawe. Zimbabwe, usaore moyo saNeria. Zimbabwe, God sees, understands, and hears your pain. Hush, Zimbabwe, hush, push…

Ignatius Chombo, is embroiled in a contentious legal struggle to retain significant portions of his farm. Despite familial ties to the ruling ZANU PF elite, Chombo is confronting the stark possibility of losing large parts of his farm property, a move orchestrated by government authorities.
The High Court recently ruled that the government has the authority to reduce Chombo’s farm, a decision that has propelled the former minister to seek recourse at the Supreme Court. Chombo’s legal representative, Professor Lovermore Madhuku, has filed a notice of appeal, asserting that the judgment of the lower court is fundamentally flawed and contestable.
Chombo, who was allocated the farm back in 2001 and secured a 99-year lease agreement in 2006, is challenging the actions of Anxious Jongwe Masuka, the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development. The crux of Chombo’s argument hinges on the assertion that Minister Masuka lacks the legal authority under the Land Commission Act to annul his long-standing lease.
This legal confrontation highlights a significant clash between personal property rights and governmental land reform policies, even as it underscores the complex interplay of political relationships within Zimbabwe’s ruling circles. Despite his connections to President Mnangagwa, Chombo’s predicament illustrates that even well-connected individuals are not immune to the shifting dynamics of land ownership and control in Zimbabwe.
As the case progresses to the Supreme Court, all eyes will be on whether familial ties will sway the ultimate decision or if the rule of law will take precedence, setting a precedent for how similar cases might be handled in the future. The outcome could have far-reaching implications for property rights and land reform in Zimbabwe, especially for political figures in the country.

Heroism, Resistance and Memory in ZANU PF’s Zimbabwe.
Today we are in Harare Warren hills to join the Ndira family and the people of Mabvuku, in the memorial of the late Tonderai Ndira who died in the brutal hands of the regime in May 2008.
He was a courageous Revolutionary whose contribution left a mark in the annals of our history.

The Harare Magistrates’ Court has ordered Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Commander Lieutenant General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe and Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri to pay US$29,000 in compensation to Felix Mafondokoto, a victim of the 2019 shutdown protests. Mafondokoto, who was shot and severely injured by a soldier during the demonstrations in Chitungwiza, had initially sought US$49,000 for his injuries and suffering.
The 2019 shutdown protests, triggered by soaring fuel prices and deteriorating living conditions, saw widespread violence and the deployment of military forces across Zimbabwe. According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), this court ruling represents a critical step towards justice for the numerous victims brutalized during these events.
“Mafondokoto endured severe injuries, with bullet fragments still embedded in his body, representing a grave violation of his fundamental rights,” stated the ZLHR. Assisted by attorney Kossam Ncube of ZLHR, Mafondokoto’s case highlights the ongoing efforts to hold high-ranking officials accountable for the actions of security forces under their command.
Matondokoto is one of 17 victims who were betrayed by an advisor to the Minister Of Defence, Hopewell Chin’ono who advised the military to visit the civil society regularly in order to reduce political tension in the country.
This court decision follows another recent ruling where the same leaders were instructed to pay over ZiG 41,000 to Muchademba Muponde, another protestor who endured severe beatings by soldiers during the same period. Initially, Sanyatwe and Muchinguri-Kashiri claimed that the soldiers involved were under the control of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, deployed in support of law enforcement rather than military operations.
The 2019 crackdown has been described by the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum as “one of the darkest episodes in post-independent Zimbabwe,” with documented violations including 17 extrajudicial killings and 17 instances of rape and sexual violence. These incidents mark a significant escalation from previous disturbances, prompting calls for comprehensive government accountability and compensation for affected individuals and their families.
This landmark ruling not only underscores the severity of the human rights abuses during the shutdown protests but also signals a move towards rectifying these injustices through the legal system, offering a glimmer of hope for many who have suffered under similar circumstances. The Human Rights Abuses were made worse through the advice activist Hopewell Chin’ono gave the military minister, Constantino Chiwenga. Chin’ono told the Defence Minister the military meetings should be done in order to reduce political tension in the country. As a result of Chin’ono’s militaristic work, most of the victims are still to get their refunds

Controversial Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim Secretary General, Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, has sparked a heated debate by calling for the immediate arrest of prominent opposition figure Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala. The demand follows Sikhala’s outspoken criticism of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration for alleged human rights violations.
Sikhala recently condemned the Zimbabwean government at the United Nations Geneva Human Rights and Democracy summit, drawing international attention to the country’s political climate.
His remarks have elicited a fierce response from Tshabangu, who expressed his frustration with Sikhala’s actions.
“Yes, I mean it, legal action must be taken against him,” Tshabangu asserted angrily.
“I didn’t advocate for his release for what he’s doing. This is totally absurd. The struggle we’re in, for the period from 2023-2028, is that of development, not politics.
Anyone who wishes our country bad must be severely charged.”
Tshabangu’s statements highlight a significant rift within Zimbabwe’s political opposition, as well as the broader challenges of balancing advocacy for development with the protection of human rights and political dissent.
Sikhala, known for his vocal opposition to the Mnangagwa administration, has been a polarizing figure, garnering both support and criticism for his relentless pursuit of governmental accountability.
The call for Sikhala’s arrest has intensified the already volatile political landscape in Zimbabwe, raising questions about the future of free speech and political activism in the country.
Tshabangu’s position reflects a segment of the opposition that prioritizes development over political confrontation, but it also underscores the deep divisions and contentious atmosphere that characterize Zimbabwean politics today.
As the debate unfolds, the international community and local observers alike will be closely watching the actions of the Zimbabwean government and the response from various political factions.
The situation remains tense, with the potential for significant implications for the country’s political trajectory and its commitment to human rights.

In Zimbabwe, a concerning trend has emerged within the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) community where radical beliefs in herbal medicine are leading to increased mortality and a significant public health threat. Members driven by these radical beliefs advocate herbalism over proven biomedical treatments, guiding ill and vulnerable individuals towards potentially harmful practices.
The widespread adoption of herbal treatments, often propagated by influential church members, underscores a broader danger. Herbal medicines, while beneficial under specific circumstances, pose significant risks when misused. The substitution of these for biomedical treatments can lead to ineffective disease management, progression of conditions, and increased mortality rates. The biomedical approach to health, which relies on scientifically tested methods and treatments, often clashes with religious views that interpret illness and healing through a spiritual lens. This divergence not only impedes effective healthcare delivery but also elevates the risks associated with untreated or improperly managed diseases.
The misapplication of Ellen G. White’s (EGW) writings within the SDA church has fuelled this shift. Common misconceptions include the belief that her advocacy for natural remedies supersedes the need for conventional medicine. This has caused a significant rift within the church, especially as some leaders, reportedly profiting from this radicalism, fail to address the issue adequately. The situation is further complicated by reports of some SDA union and conference or higher church office holders who went to the extent of joining or registering with the Zimbabwe Traditional Healers Association (ZINATA) as traditional healers within the SDA church. The writer discovered that this was done for these radical EGW believers to practice legally in the country, though they are basing their practices on the church’s belled system. This act is seen as contradictory to the church’s foundational beliefs and, to many, a deviation from divine directives.
The confusion within the church regarding health practices was evident at several symposia attended by this writer. Discussions revealed that many radical herbal practitioners within the church, were unaware of the critical dosages necessary for safety and efficacy as their practices are not evidence based. They also lacked knowledge about when to refer patients to conventional medical professionals, often resulting in worsened conditions and increased fatalities.
Pastor Godfrey Musara, the union president, when approached, directed inquiries to the health department leader at the union level Mrs Katsvairo, indicating a potential recognition of the issue but also a delegation of responsibility which may slow immediate resolutions. Engaging with Madam Katsvairo highlighted that the public health concern was well understood and was an issue of a higher magnitude that the starting point was nowhere visible no an easy task.
This complex interplay of religion, tradition, and medicine represents a significant barrier to health care progress in the region. As the church grapples with these internal conflicts and the ambiguity surrounding the definition of faith or radicalisation within the church, the health and well-being of its congregants including non believing desperate health dealers hang in the balance, calling for urgent introspection and reformation of health practices within the SDA community in Zimbabwe.
These emerging concerns around radical health beliefs within the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Zimbabwe demand urgent attention, similar to the critical views held by some White Garment Pentecostal groups, who resort to the use of salts and holy waters as disease cures.
The SDA Church’s increasing embrace of herbal remedies over biomedical solutions, driven by a misinterpretation of Ellen G. White’s teachings on natural medicine, presents a pressing public health challenge. The over reliance and over emphasis on herbal treatments, under the guise of Health Reform Message and Business to make money, risks not only the health of individuals but also public health at large who are easily gullible, desperate and ignorant, due to the potential ineffectiveness of these treatments against serious medical conditions.
This trend, has been left unchecked for far too long and now escalates, mirroring the radical practices observed among the White Garment Pentecostals, thereby compounding the challenges faced in achieving comprehensive healthcare delivery within and beyond these communities. Thus, it is imperative for leaders within the SDA Church to address these divergent health practices promptly, to mitigate further public health risks and align more closely with evidence-based medical practices.

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa continues to consolidate power by eliminating his deputy and potential successor, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, along with his close associates.
The latest clampdown on Chiwenga occurred on Monday, shortly after he departed for China for a medical check-up.
Mnangagwa seized the opportunity to remove Chiwenga’s ally, Mike Bimha, from the influential position of party Political Commissar.
The role of the Political Commissar is crucial in Zanu PF, as it involves mobilizing support both within the party and during national elections.
Bimha, who is from Chiwenga’s home province of Mashonaland East, had been a key figure in this capacity.
In a statement this week, Zanu PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu announced several other reassignments within the Politburo.
Among the notable changes, Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has been reassigned to Party Treasurer General, replacing Patrick Chinamasa, who now serves as Zanu PF’s Secretary for Legal Affairs.
These moves are part of a broader pattern since the 2017 coup led by Chiwenga. During this period, Mnangagwa has systematically eliminated Chiwenga’s allies, thereby fortifying his own position and blocking any potential succession by Chiwenga.

By Business Reporter- WestProp Holdings has moved to a more spacious office block in Mt Pleasant.
The property developer relocated on Monday to number 17B Lomagundi Road.
The company has outgrown its existing offices at 3 Fairbridge Road in Belgravia.
Its sister company, West Security Group, will now be occupying the old offices.
The Victoria Falls Stock Exchange listed company has been recruiting specialists in property management, development and construction, which has led to the need for additional office space.
The one-stop shop office complex will ensure that all customers’ needs are attended to in one place.
“The company has grown from just 10 permanent head office staff when it started to over 60 now. My biggest challenge in the last year has been not having enough office space to sit people. We are now moving to new offices where we can accommodate everyone in their own offices.
“Our company is on the trajectory of continued growth. We are confident of Zimbabwe. We are confident of the future,” said WestProp chief executive Mr Ken Sharpe.
The company is, however, building a new office complex at Millennium City that can accommodate all of its subsidiaries.
The office block will form part of the office complexes feeding into the Mall of Zimbabwe.
By Political Reporter- In a strategic move seen as an attempt to marginalise Vice President Constantino Chiwenga from the presidential race, Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has removed Chiwenga’s close ally, Mike Bimha, from the position of party Political Commissar.
Bimha, hailing from Chiwenga’s home province of Mashonaland East, has been a prominent figure within the party, holding one of its most powerful posts.
In a statement this week, Zanu PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu announced several other reassignments within the Politburo.
Among the notable changes, Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has been reassigned to the position of Party Treasurer General, replacing Patrick Chinamasa, who now serves as Zanu PF’s Secretary for Legal Affairs.

The Zimbabwean Coat of Arms reads:
I am marking each of these, scoring out of 10:
UNITY – 1/10
Tragic. Even the Head of State is not bothered one bit about how badly we are polarized and toxic.
Here we are completely stuck. The next President of this country must make this a PRIORITY.
FREEDOM – 6/10
Some marked improvement. If you think I am too generous here, take note: some of the stuff we write and say in our brutal politics would have meant anything—including death—just a short 20 years ago.
WORK – 4/10
Despite being over 80% unemployment levels and courtesy of our hard-grinding informal sector. Gross the numbers and you get 11 out of 30.
Not a fancy score this…
Either we fix these or we change our Coat of Arms to be more truthful to our actual realities.

Harare – Zanu PF Patriots team has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday.
In a statement released on Monday, the Zanu PF Patriots said :”Zimbabwe has lost a good friend.”
President Raisi, a hardliner widely regarded as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, met an untimely end when his helicopter crashed in poor weather conditions near the Azerbaijan border.
The crash, which claimed the lives of Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and six other passengers and crew members, has sent shockwaves through both the Iranian and international communities.
The charred wreckage of the helicopter was discovered early Monday after an intense overnight search.
Officials and state media reported that the accident occurred in mountainous terrain, complicating rescue and recovery efforts.
Zimbabwe’s Zanu PF has highlighted the loss of Raisi as a blow to the longstanding relationship between the two nations. The statement from Zanu PF Patriots captures the sentiment of loss and the importance of the friendship that had developed over the years.
“We have lost a noble figure, ” the Zanu PF Patriots reiterated, emphasizing the camaraderie and mutual support that has characterized Zimbabwe-Iran relations.
The incident not only marks the end of Raisi’s political journey but also casts a shadow over the future of Iran’s leadership dynamics.
Raisi’s hardline stance and potential candidacy as the next Supreme Leader made him a significant figure in Iran’s political landscape. His death leaves a notable void, prompting both mourning and uncertainty about the country’s path forward.

So ,today I have had phone calls and text messages ,with people inquiring about Junior Bunjira’s fitness after that brutal 2 footed tackle from behind by Shadreck Nyahwa .Junior has a bruised swollen ankle and is in pain .The CAPS United doctors are monitoring the injury.
I am not sure how and why Nyahwa didn’t get a straight red card and an expulsion after that cruel bone crashing tackle from behind. That is a straight red offense. I don’t know if I should say “Fortunately ” because there was nothing fortunate about that tackle…but Fortunately the tackle didn’t break Junior’s legs .
My intestines moved in horror when I saw that cruel tackle.I have to be honest ,that I don’t know what I would do ,if he had broken Junior’s leg .But all I know is that I would have possibly jumped onto the pitch to retaliate. .
Hapana sportsmanship yakadaro when one player is intentionally breaking someone else’s legs. Injuries anowanikwa ,and that is football.
I played football and I know all about that, But when someone is intentionally trying to break another player’s leg,it ceases to be sportsmanshipand just a game of football.I don’t think I would be a sportsman if he had broken the kid’s legs
I think referees should be on the look out for evil tackles like that on the field and footballers with that kind of actions should expelled. That is not football.Talent should be protected and brutals weeded out .Not because Junior is my son.
BUT I am speaking for all victims of such brotality….as I wish Junior a speedy recovery .I hope Nyahwa apologized

Greatman’s fixing the country one great talk after another?
By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Rising Above Limitations: The Inspiring Perspective of Greatman Gwaze
In a world where individuals with disabilities often face discrimination and challenges that go beyond the physical, the words of Zimbabwean musician Greatman Gwaze on Tuesday resonate with a powerful and uplifting message.
Gwaze, a celebrated artist who himself has faced life with a disability, shared a profound statement: if God discriminated against those with disabilities, He would have deprived them of their core organ of procreation, referred to affectionately in his statement as “the Sikarudzi.” This bold assertion not only challenges societal views but also serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many.
#### The Power of Inclusion
Gwaze’s words underline a critical message: everyone, regardless of physical or mental ability, holds intrinsic value and potential. This statement isn’t just about biological functions; it’s a metaphorical affirmation of the full participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. It emphasizes that having a disability does not diminish a person’s humanity or their ability to contribute meaningfully to society.
In many societies, disabilities are often viewed through a lens of pity or discomfort, with focus placed on limitations rather than capabilities. Gwaze’s perspective invites us to shift our focus from what people can’t do to what they can do, and more importantly, to recognize and dismantle the barriers that prevent them from doing so.
Zimbabwe, home to over 1.3 million people with disabilities, has a significant untapped potential that, if recognized and capacitated, could lead to substantial economic benefits. Empowering this community is not just a moral imperative but a strategic economic opportunity.
Globally, enabling participation from people with disabilities has led to dramatic economic improvements. For instance, a report by Accenture in the United States found that companies which embrace best practices for employing and supporting more persons with disabilities in their workforce have outperformed their peers, seeing 28% higher revenue, double the net income, and 30% higher economic profit margins over a four-year period.
In Zimbabwe, tapping into this potential starts with removing barriers to education and employment. Investment in accessible infrastructure, adaptive technologies, and inclusive education policies could dramatically increase the participation of disabled persons in the workforce. For example, enhanced accessibility in schools and workplaces can open up new opportunities for this demographic, potentially leading to innovations, business ventures, and an expanded labor market that includes skilled workers previously sidelined by disability.
Economically, when people with disabilities are employed, they not only contribute to the economy through their work but also reduce dependency on social systems, thereby alleviating economic pressure on government resources. Furthermore, their employment can contribute to increased market diversities as their unique perspectives lead to new products and services, which can address unmet needs in the market.
Inclusive policies can also drive tourism and international business as countries that are known for their inclusivity attract more diverse groups of tourists and international partners. This reputation can enhance Zimbabwe’s standing on the global stage, inviting foreign investment and improving international relations.
The economic empowerment of people with disabilities is a proven catalyst for broader economic growth and societal wellbeing. For Zimbabwe, investing in this sector of the population is not just about creating equality but about harnessing a range of benefits that come from a diverse and inclusive workforce.
#### Celebrating Abilities
The idea of focusing on ability rather than disability is not new, but it is incredibly powerful. By celebrating what individuals can achieve, rather than confining them by what some assume they cannot, we open doors to new possibilities. For instance, Gwaze himself, despite societal and physical challenges, has carved out a successful career in the music industry, using his platform to advocate for others like him.
His journey is a testament to the fact that when given equal opportunities and support, people with disabilities can achieve great things. Stories of individuals excelling in various fields including arts, sciences, sports, and leadership, continue to break stereotypes and inspire a new understanding of capability and resilience.
#### Building a Supportive Environment
Creating a supportive environment is crucial in empowering people with disabilities. This means accessible education, workplace accommodations, inclusive policies, and societal attitudes that promote equality rather than exclusion. It’s about recognizing the rights of individuals to participate fully in society, just like anyone else.
Organizations and communities can play a significant role in making this a reality by advocating for policies that ensure equal opportunities and by fostering an inclusive culture that values diversity.
#### The Path Forward
Gwaze’s statement is a call to action for all of us. It is an invitation to challenge our preconceptions, to change our narrative about disability, and to build a world where everyone can thrive based on their abilities and talents. It serves as a reminder that in the grand design, everyone has a place, and no one is left out.
Inclusion begins with recognizing that every person, regardless of physical or mental challenges, is capable of making valuable contributions to society. Let us take inspiration from Gwaze’s words and work towards a world where discrimination has no place, and diversity in all its forms is celebrated.
As we move forward, let’s carry with us the profound message that if even the divine does not discriminate, then who are we to do so? It is up to each one of us to foster an environment that cherishes every individual, acknowledging that within every person lies a wealth of potential waiting to be unleashed.
In the end, it’s not about the disabilities any of us have but the humanity we all share. Let us remember and act upon this, ensuring that every human being, irrespective of their physical condition, feels valued and integral to the tapestry of our shared human experience.- ZimEye
By A Correspondent| Zanu PF Spokesperson has denied that he is under fire from his party leadership.
This follows his removal from a cabinet post and the recent arrest of his son Neville on charges of illegal foreign currency trading and using a Starlink device without license.
Speaking at the Zanu PF press conference on Monday, Mutsvangwa said he will be around as he is a child of the revolution.
“I’m not under fire as is reported by some sections of the media, I am good, I’m a child of the revolution, I have been many things in the past and I’m around and I will be around,” he responds to a question.
His son, Neville Mutsvangwa was a fortnight ago arrested and is currently locked up on allegations of dealing in foreign currency and money laundering, among other criminal charges.
By Political Reporter- Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa has blocked Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ambitions of succeeding the party’s current President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa is serving his second and final term and is expected to hand over power to Chiwenga at both the party and national levels.
However, Mutsvangwa, who also harbours presidential ambitions, stated that succession plans still need to be discussed.
Mutsvangwa made this statement while addressing journalists after the party’s secretary general, Obert Mpofu, announced a reshuffle of the Politburo by Mnangagwa.
The Politburo reshuffle is seen by some as Mnangagwa’s attempt to manage succession within the party ahead of the 2028 general election, when his second and final term as State President ends.
Mutsvangwa emphasised that succession is not currently an issue, as Mnangagwa was granted a five-year mandate to govern the country just last year. He said:
“I want to repeat, the President just won an election last year in August; he won a term for five years. The next election is in 2028. Right now, he is occupied with fulfilling the mandate of the manifesto of the past election, which he is doing excellently in many ways. These are the issues that are preoccupying our President, not this wish to compress four or five years of an election into a succession issue right now. Succession is not the primary purpose of why he was elected; he was elected for building the mandate of prosperity. If the President wants anything, he comes and brings it to this building, to his Politburo, to his central committee, and eventually to his congress. That’s what the President does. We have not discussed that issue at that level, so we have no reason to fan the flames of something which is not on the agenda of the party.”
Mutsvangwa, who accused some of his ZANU PF colleagues of orchestrating the recent arrest of his son, Neville, denied being under fire from Mnangagwa, saying he had survived before and would continue to survive.
He stated:
“Do you see any flames around me? I am not under any fire. I am here; I am a son of the revolution, and I will always be here.”
Earlier during the press conference, Mpofu announced that Mnangagwa had removed Mike Bimha from the political commissar post but kept him as a Politburo member.
He also mentioned that Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of the National Assembly, had been reassigned to be the Party’s Treasurer General, taking over from Patrick Chinamasa, who is now ZANU PF’s Secretary for Legal Affairs.
Munyaradzi Machacha, who was the Principal of the Chitepo School of Ideology, replaced Bimha as the ZANU PF Political Commissar.
By Political reporter- Zanu PF claims it has admitted 200,000 former MDC supporters into the party over the past five years.
To facilitate this transition, the party has established a department named Kumusha/Home/Ekhaya (KHE) to attract opposition members.
Former MDC lawmaker Blessing Chebundo is heading the department.
State media reports that recent notable defections in the Mashonaland West province include opposition figures Gift Konjani, Takalani Matibe, and Virginia Mafuta.
By A Correspondent| A notorious couple previously convicted and imprisoned for fraud, Florence (née Behane) Pambukani and Felix Pambukani, has once again been implicated in a scheme to deceive desperate home seekers at Crowhill Farm in Harare.
The couple has allegedly been posing as the legal owners of land belonging to Crowhill Private Limited, leading many unsuspecting individuals to part with their hard-earned money. The disputed property, Chirika Extension of Borrowdale Estate, spans 121.4029 hectares and is legally held under a transfer deed.
Despite a High Court order issued in 2021 by Justice Webster Chinamora, which was later confirmed by the Supreme Court, barring the Pambukanis from selling the land, the couple continued their fraudulent activities. According to court documents, the High Court ordered the eviction of all illegal occupants, but those who had purchased the land from the Pambukanis resisted the eviction order, resulting in a standoff.
Crowhill Farm has been proactive, serving affected individuals with letters inviting them to regularize their status or face eviction. However, the Pambukanis’ activities have left many land seekers in a dire situation, having lost substantial sums of money.
A legal occupant of Crowhill Farm recounted the Pambukanis’ history of fraud: “I know the Pambukanis after they were convicted of fraud for defrauding Lonrho Zimbabwe and served eight years each in prison. After their release, they came to Acorn Farm desperately seeking a stand, and we assisted them.”
The resident further explained the couple’s underhanded tactics: “In 2017, Florence attempted to contest in the leadership elections for Acorn Farm, but we barred her due to her criminal record. She secretly approached Dr. Msipa to form the Acorn Township Developing Association, but it was all for her and her husband to gain financially.”
“The Pambukanis own a mere stand, a tiny fraction of Cleverhill Estate, far from where they are selling and leasing to unsuspecting individuals. Their rightful stand, number 720, is clearly marked on the map,” he added.
Efforts to contact the Pambukanis for comment were unsuccessful as their phones were unreachable at the time of publication.
The couple has also been accused of claiming close connections to senior government officials and has a history of evicting farmers from their land. Last year, they reportedly hired armed thugs to attack workers at Wakefield Farm in the Selous Area 5, a property they tried to seize from its owner, Kenneth Bartholomew. The farm workers sustained severe injuries, with some still receiving treatment at Chegutu Hospital.
The Pambukanis’ takeover of Wakefield Farm led to the eviction of 35 families, including children and the elderly, despite Bartholomew having written approval from the Agriculture Minister to stay on his farm.
In 2008, the couple also illegally took over Scotsdale Farm, which resulted in the death of its rightful owner, Kobus Joubert, in 2010. Following Joubert’s eviction, all farm workers were displaced, rendering them homeless after years of employment on the farm.
By A Correspondent| ZANU PF’s youth league deputy secretary for administration, Danmore Mambondiyani, has reportedly faced suspension from the party, purportedly due to his resistance against certain members’ calls for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028.
According to sources cited by The NewsHawks, Mambondiyani stands accused of various infractions, including allegedly bringing a bag of cash to a national youth executive meeting and offering sums of US$200 and US$100 to Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs John Paradza and Secretary for Youth Affairs Tinotenda Machakaire, respectively.
Machakaire serves as the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training, while Paradza holds the position of Deputy Minister for Environment, Climate, and Wildlife.
The allegations against Mambondiyani are said to have originated from a ZANU PF national executive meeting on May 9, during which he purportedly declined to participate in chants supporting the extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency beyond the constitutional two-term limit.
The youth national executive meeting was convened to appoint eight new members to the national executive, including Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, the President’s son, who assumed the role of deputy secretary for external affairs.
Other appointments included Emily Jesaya, Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, Recreation, and Culture, appointed as deputy secretary for mines, and Charles Munganasa, appointed as deputy secretary for local government, who also serves as a board member of the state-controlled Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and recently assumed the role of acting chief executive of the company.
During the meeting, Mambondiyani reportedly faced questioning for his refusal to participate in slogans advocating for Mnangagwa’s term extension, contrary to the majority’s stance.
Allegedly, Mambondiyani had previously expressed his opinion that Mnangagwa should step down in 2028 and pass the reins to his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
In a letter addressed to Mambondiyani, ZANU PF’s youth secretary for legal affairs, Phineas Makombe, cited conduct deemed inappropriate for a National Executive Member, particularly highlighting an incident where Mambondiyani allegedly attempted to influence the meeting’s proceedings by publicly endorsing himself for a vacant position within the National Executive Council and engaging in actions suggestive of vote-buying.
By A Correspondent| The war of words between Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala and Midlands Provincial minister Owen Mudha Ncube is escalating and has been joined by Zanu PF youthies from Midlands who yesterday said there is no regret for chanting the slogan “Pasi na Job Sikhala”.
The dispute arose after Mudha, at a Zanu PF event over the weekend, vocally denounced Sikhala chanting the slogan “Pasi na Job Sikhala”.
Sikhala did not take this lightly and promptly rebutted him for employing cowardly tactics to silence him.
He expressed his dismay, stating, “Dear Zimbabweans and all our worldwide friends, I am disappointed and deeply troubled by threats against my life by Owen Mudha Ncube.”
He emphasized the importance of democracy and freedom of expression, lamenting the actions of those who seek to silence opposing voices.
In response to Sikhala’s remarks, the Zanu PF youths reiterated their support for Mudha, defending the “pasi nemhandu” slogan, asserting its significance as a revolutionary statement.
. Job Sikhala is doing to please his colonial paymasters will not derail us from our economic trajectory under the leadership of his excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” they declared.
They further dismissed Sikhala’s concerns about the slogan’s implications, labeling his statements as foolish and indicative of desperation.
“Claims by Job Sikhala that the revolutionary slogan is meant to kill or threaten him are not only foolish but a sign of desperation,” the group asserted.
Sikhala is expected to hold a press conference to provide a further response to Mudha’s criticisms.

By Political Reporter-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has been flown to China for a medical review.
Chiwenga was last seen in public on May 11, attending the silver jubilee of Roman Catholic Archbishop Robert Ndlovu’s ordination in Harare, alongside President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba is cited by ZimLive confirming Chiwenga’s whereabouts.
In 2019, Chiwenga underwent major surgery in China to address a condition that narrowed or tightened his esophagus.
He has also received medical treatment in India and South Africa.
This marks Chiwenga’s second visit to his Chinese doctors in five months.
During his annual leave in January, he travelled to China for “routine medical check-ups with his physicians,” according to a presidential spokesperson.

Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, has openly criticized the restrictive visa policies faced by African investors across the continent, spotlighting a significant barrier to intra-African business at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali, Rwanda. Dangote’s remarks highlighted the cumbersome process he faces, needing to secure 35 different visas to travel within Africa on his Nigerian passport.
During his speech, Dangote expressed his frustrations to President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, emphasizing the disparity in treatment between African and European passport holders. “It’s most annoying that if you are treating everybody the same, then I can understand. But a French businessman like Patrick Pouyanne doesn’t need 35 visas to travel in Africa,” Dangote lamented, pointing out the ease with which European nationals navigate the continent.
Experts weigh in on the implications of such policies. Dr. Amara Konneh, an African development analyst, noted, “This visa quandary not only impedes personal movement but significantly hinders the economic integration vital for the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).” Konneh suggests that easing travel restrictions could spur investment and economic synergy across nations.
South Africa was specifically mentioned for its conflicting stance, which allows visa-free entry to 28 European nations while restricting access to nationals from most African countries. Dr. Susan Mboya, a political scientist specializing in African policy, remarked, “South Africa’s policy might be seen as perpetuating colonial-era divisions rather than embracing a pan-African spirit.”
Dangote also touched upon the broader business challenges within the continent, stating, “Our main job is to make sure the regional markets all work. Once they work, then we can now go to AfCFTA. But then, for AfCFTA also, we need to make sure that it works.”
The debate over visa openness is intensifying as leaders and business magnates like Dangote call for reforms. These voices highlight the need for a unified approach to foster economic unity and ease of doing business across Africa, which are critical for the continent’s growth and global economic stature.
As discussions unfold, the business community and policymakers are urged to consider reforms that would not only benefit high-profile investors like Dangote but also the myriad of smaller enterprises striving to expand their reach across Africa.- Agencies, BBC, Bloomberg
