WestProp Unveils US$1 Million Investment To Revitalise Millennium Park Wetland

By Business Reporter– One of the country’s leading property companies, WestProp, has announced a significant investment of $1 million for the rehabilitation of a near-dead wetland at Millennium Park in Borrowdale West.

This initiative aims to transform the Wetland into a nature park, fostering environmental sustainability and providing recreational amenities for local communities.

Unveiling the ambitious project at Royal Harare Golf Course Thursday, WestProp CEO Mr Ken Sharpe said they are committed to rejuvenating the Wetland, despite recent land ownership changes.

Sharpe stated, “We remain committed to fulfilling our dream to rejuvenate the Wetland. Hence, we have invited you so that you can give your input to the project. We have set aside US$1 million for the project, and the designs are now available for public input.”

Aligned with the company’s “live, work, shop, and play” theme, the project aims to provide Pokugara and Millennium Heights residents with recreational amenities within a gated community.

The wetland rehabilitation includes re-engineering, reintroducing biodiversity and aquatic life, and developing the land into an eco-friendly tourism facility featuring walkways, bicycle tracks, bird viewing sites, and fishing and canoeing facilities.

WestProp, an environmentally conscious organisation, emphasises the project’s ecological, economic, and social benefits, including managing stormwater, reducing flooding, improving water quality, supporting biodiversity, and creating a nature park for outdoor activities.

Citing research from www.sciencedirect.com, highlighting the cooling effects of urban wetland parks, Sharpe positions the Millennium Park project as crucial for environmental sustainability and a symbol of ecological city development.

He noted, “This will be a major attraction when Zimbabwe hosts COP 25 in 2025, demonstrating the friendship between nature and human beings. We are prepared to work with all like-minded people to make this project a success.”

WestProp acknowledged the role of government agencies in averting potential disasters and expressed appreciation for holding culprits accountable for unauthorised developments that could harm the Wetland.

The company reiterates its commitment to preserving the Borrowdale Vlei through coordinated and sustainable measures per its environmental management plan.

Ngarivhume Revives Fighting Spirit, Goes For Mnangagwa

By Political Reporter- Social rights activist and Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume says defeating Zanu PF requires collective action from the citizens.

He urges a shift away from relying solely on individual politicians and emphasises the need for better coordination within the opposition.

Ngarivhume argues that politics in Zimbabwe should move beyond focusing on individuals and personalities and instead promote collective action.

He points out that ZANU PF demonstrates strong coordination in persecuting people, and Zimbabweans need to unite similarly.

He said during a show on Asakhe, an X space hosted by CITE on Tuesday:

None but ourselves can free ourselves as Zimbabweans. This is what Transform Zimbabwe strongly feels.

We need a well-coordinated response to what is happening in the country. The enemy, the Zanu PF regime is well-coordinated in persecuting people. They have captured the courts. They know that you will not escape the courts. They have captured prison officers in our prisons and they know you will be quite in trouble when in prison. They are well-coordinated and well-oiled and this is the kind of coordination that we need. The opposition needs two times that coordination.

According to Ngarivhume, when politicians fail to deliver, it is up to ordinary citizens to take control of the situation. He believes that the people should collectively challenge decisions like the recent national budget, which included tax increases on already struggling citizens. Ngarivhume suggests that citizens should reject such actions and demand an end to corruption, even if it means taking to the streets.

Ngarivhume calls for a shared vision among Zimbabweans and urges the opposition to unite and find common ground in their fight against a regime which he says ignores the voices of the people. He emphasises the importance of Zimbabweans taking initiative rather than relying on external intervention.

Reflecting on his detention, Ngarivhume stressed the need for support and solidarity among political activists, especially when they are arrested. He said:

I informed my information team, and I spoke to ZINASU because we need that solidarity. As you grow, you realise people are so much afraid of many things. They want to occupy that space alone (saying) ‘that space must be occupied by me and is mine alone.’ That is selfishness. In the struggle, you need to stand up for another.

We must speak up for Sikhala and the Mthwakazi people. You can’t be arrested and we say nothing. The oppressor looks at that. The strong support sends a strong message. That’s the kind of thing they look at. Sikhala goes back to the Magistrates Court in Harare on January 24, 2024, and we need to be there.

In 2021, Ngarivhume said that Zimbabwe needed a different and more mature way of doing politics. He called for people to come together and support Nelson Chamisa, who he said leads the biggest opposition party in the country. However, Ngarivhume couldn’t take part in the August 2023 elections because he was in prison at the time.

Chamisa Shakes CCC, Calls Rebels To Order

By Political Reporter- The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) President, Nelson Chamisa, this week brought sanity to the opposition by firing and firing Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume and six councillors working with party rebel Sengezo Tshabangu.

This is not the first time Mafume has sold out.

In 2014, after a fallout with the late Morgan Tsvangirai, Mafume aligned himself with Tendai Biti and formed an experiment party, the People Democratic Party (PDP).

Tshabangu has sown discord within the opposition since August last year, initiating recalls of elected officials from parliament and local authorities.

Mafume’s removal follows his contentious re-election as Harare Mayor just a month ago, amid allegations of manipulating the recall of the former Mayor, Lovejoy Chitengu, to secure his return.

Reports suggest Mafume pressured councillors for votes, hinting at his influence over their roles at Town House.

Despite aspiring for a second term, Mafume was reportedly disappointed when Chamisa declined to endorse his re-election after the August General Elections.

Six other councillors faced dismissal for engaging in actions contributing to internal party destabilisation.

Tshabangu, a former MDC provincial youth chairperson and MDC-N member, have been recalling CCC Members of Parliament, citing irregularities and disrespect of party processes.

However, accusations suggest these recalls stem from internal conflicts within the CCC fueled by senior members, including Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube.

Biti was frustrated by Chamisa’s failure to manipulate the Harare East primary election against his contender, Allan Markham, in the run-up to the last Augst national polls.

Wilbert Mukori: Following Chamisa Not Wise

indepth...Wilbert Mukori

“I’ll follow Chamisa no matter what!” Only one devoid of common sense would especially given his track record.

By Wilbert Mukori | Zimbabwe is a failed state and this has been a 43 year growling descend into this hell-on-earth of our own making. The ruling party, Zanu PF, the numerous opposition parties and the ordinary Zimbabweans have all played their part in landing us in this mess.

Zanu PF and the country’s main opposition MDC/CCC have reached a political understanding in which the later has actively cooperated with Zanu PF’s vote rigging activities for a share of the spoils of power. And so the task of pushing for meaningful political change to end the failed state has fallen on the ordinary Zimbabweans. The main reason why there has been no meaningful change these last 43 years is because the ordinary Zimbabweans have remained ignorant, naive and gullible to initiate and effect any meaningful change.

Even now, with the country up to her eye balls in this hell-on-earth mess of our own making, it is shocking just how ignorant and naive many Zimbabweans are out there.

“Why are you not worried about Zanu PF which has failed to deliver change for the past 44 years? You attack the opposition which has no access to your hard earned money (tax) yet those who steal it in broad daylight you choose to close your eyes on them.” came one accusation (the name has been withheld to protect the ignorant.)

The spirit is willing but the intellect is weak; it is so feeble there is nothing there!

By the late 1990s the people of Zimbabwe realised not only that Zanu PF thugs are corrupt and incompetent but more significantly that as long as the thugs retained their carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections the nation is stuck with regime. And it will drag the nation deeper and deeper into the abyss. The solution was self-evident; to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and economic and political ruin, the nation must implementing the democratic reforms designed to take away the party’s vote rigging dictatorial powers.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb, at the hands of the Zanu PF thugs, to elect MDC/CCC leaders on the understanding that once in power they would implement the necessary democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections, just as it has done since 1980, because MDC/CCC leaders not only sold out by failing to implement even one reform but, worse still, they have given up implementing reforms.

Chamisa and company have participated in these flawed elections knowing fully well the process was flawed and that doing so would give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the suffering of the masses. They have soldiered on regardless because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

Even after AU, SADC and Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC condemned the 2023 Zimbabwe elections as a farce; this did not stop CCC leaders taking up their share of the gravy train seats and thus undermining SADC and AU’s attempts to pressure Zanu PF to stop rigging elections.

What is obvious here is:

a) Zanu PF continues to rig elections because the party has retained all its dictatorial powers to rig elections

b) MDC/CCC leaders have clearly failed to implement even one token democratic reform; after 23 years including 5 in the GNU and nothing to show for it is clear CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and utterly useless.

c) after 23 years of hoping against hope that MDC/CCC leaders will implement the reforms, the nation must stop dithering and elect competent opposition leaders who will implement the democratic reforms and end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance.

What is shocking here is that there are many Zimbabweans out there who are still dithering and want to retain CCC leaders under the pretext that Zanu PF is to blame for the failure to implement even one token reform these last 23 years. They even want Zanu PF to be given the task to implement the reforms. Of course, this is nonsensical!

As stated above the people of Zimbabwe have risked all to elect the MDC/CCC leaders these last 23 years on the understanding they would implement the democratic reforms, precisely because the people KNEW they could never trust Zanu PF to implement any of the reforms. The reason for this was obvious – Zanu PF instituted the carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections and stay in power. The party benefited from the rigged elections and was not going to reform itself out of power.

It is idiotic, to say the least, to suggest Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies would implement any meaningful democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2028 and in the future.

However, the prospect of replacing the corrupt and incompetent CCC leaders is unthinkable to many out there and hence the political paralysis.

“As long as Chamisa is living and Zanu PF still existing, people will never follow any other opposing political party without Chamisa as its leader.” argued another individual.

The truth is there are many Zimbabweans who have no clue what the democratic reforms, we have been talking about these last 23 years are about, much less how they are implemented and that the failed state is the dire consequences of failing to implement the reforms. It is therefore not surprising that these people do not blame MDC/CCC for selling out on reforms and thus perpetuating the Zanu PF dictatorship and their own suffering. In their ignorance and naivety Chamisa and company had done nothing wrong!

After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and yet not even one token democratic reform in place one had hoped that some information will have started to filter through forcing these die-hard opposition supporters to question MDC/CCC leaders’ performance, especially on the critical task of stopping Zanu PF rigging elections. Sadly, the penny has not dropped and, probably, never will!

Democracy – government of the people, for the people and by the people – will only work if the said people are educated to at least understanding the big issues of the day and are diligent in holding those in positions of power and authority to account. Zimbabwe is a failed state and far from ever becoming a healthy and functioning democracy because most of our electorate are ignorant, naive and gullible.

So ignorant, naive and gullible some Zimbabwe consider Chamisa to be an infallible demigod and hence the reason they will never hold him to account for anything and are hostile to all who have dared to question his performance. It is tragic that anyone, even a half-shilling, should regard a mere mortal to be infallible especially one with a well documented track record of being corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent!

Zanu PF will never ever reform themselves out of office, it is naive to even suggest it. Chamisa and his CCC cronies will never push Zanu PF to implement any meaningful reforms; they had the golden opportunity to implement the reforms themselves during the GNU and they wasted it.

This leaves the ordinary Zimbabweans to instigate and drive for the implementation of democratic reforms. But how can they instigate something they do not even know! And so the hope that Zimbabwe will ever pulling itself out of this hell-on-earth we find ourselves in are slim. We are a failed state and a failed state we shall remain until we have an electorate with some common sense, at least! –

Zambia, Congo DR In Pulsating Draw

In the opening round of group games at the Africa Cup of Nations, Zambia and DR Congo played to a 1-1 draw, showcasing a thrilling contest.

Kings Kangwa capitalized on a defensive mix-up to give Zambia the lead in the 23rd minute.

However, just four minutes later, the Leopards leveled the score in Group F as Brentford forward Yoane Wissa netted a close-range equalizer.

Despite DR Congo’s brighter start and dominance in the early exchanges, it was the 2012 champions, Zambia, who took the lead in humid conditions in San Pedro.

The opener unfolded after DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi collided with Leicester forward Patson Daka while attempting to clear the ball, leading to a quick throw-in by Daka.

Seizing the opportunity, Kangwa scored with a right-footed shot from distance, evading defenders and the retreating Mpasi.

The excitement continued in the second half as DR Congo was initially awarded a penalty for handball, but the decision was overturned after a video review. The match showcased the unpredictable nature of the tournament, with both teams displaying moments of brilliance.

In another Group F clash, pre-tournament favorites Morocco demonstrated their strength with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tanzania.

Exposing Mnangagwa, Tshabangu Shenanigans

Tinashe Sambiri

In recent developments within the political landscape, Sengezo Tshabangu, a self-proclaimed CCC interim Secretary, has found himself in the midst of controversy.

Contrary to the perception of him as an independent figure, Tshabangu is not acting in isolation but is, in fact, collaborating with key figures within Zanu PF to undermine the Citizens Coalition for Change led by President Nelson Chamisa.

Political analyst Dr. Pedzisai Ruhanya has shed light on the situation, asserting that Tshabangu is being directed and managed by senior Zanu PF officials.

This revelation adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing political dynamics, suggesting a covert alliance between Tshabangu and the ruling party to destabilize the opposition.

The intricate web of Tshabangu’s maneuvers, as pointed out by Dr. Ruhanya, appears to extend to the highest echelons of both ZANU PF and the state, including the President’s Office.

This, according to some observers, reflects a deeper issue within the so-called Second Republic – a troubling amalgamation of corruption and political decay under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership, reminiscent of a “Banana Republic” era post-Mugabe.

The allegations against Tshabangu raise questions about the authenticity of his role within the CCC and the potential implications for the opposition party.

As accusations of collaboration with Zanu PF gain traction, it becomes imperative for the Citizens Coalition for Change to address these concerns transparently.

Failure to do so may erode public trust and compromise the party’s credibility.

In the broader context, the unfolding scenario underscores the challenges faced by opposition movements in navigating a political landscape fraught with internal and external pressures.

The alleged involvement of Zanu PF officials in managing Tshabangu’s actions highlights the intricate power plays that characterize Zimbabwean politics, where alliances and betrayals are not uncommon.

As the situation continues to develop, it remains to be seen how the Citizens Coalition for Change will respond to these allegations and whether Tshabangu’s purported ties with Zanu PF will impact the party’s unity and effectiveness.

The outcome of this political drama could have far-reaching consequences for the future trajectory of Zimbabwean politics, shaping the narrative of the nation’s democratic journey.

Bhero Influence Forces Clothing Giants To Close Shop

Tinashe Sambiri

In a stark reflection of Zimbabwe’s deepening economic crisis, prominent clothing retailers Topics and Truworths are shuttering outlets across the country, leaving only two branches in the capital city, Harare.

Sources close to the matter reveal that the move is a direct consequence of the deteriorating economic conditions in the country.

Zimbabwe has been grappling with a myriad of economic challenges, including hyperinflation, foreign currency shortages, and unemployment, which have collectively contributed to a significant downturn in consumer spending.

The closure of clothing outlets is not confined to a specific region, as reports indicate that Topics and Truworths are downsizing their operations across all provinces.

This decision, driven by economic necessity, underscores the severity of the financial hardships faced by businesses in Zimbabwe.

The once vibrant and expansive network of Topics and Truworths stores is now being reduced to a mere fraction of its former self. With only two branches remaining in Harare, the clothing giants are restructuring their operations to cope with the harsh economic realities.

A key factor influencing this strategic withdrawal is the prevalence of second-hand clothing flooding the market.

As economic pressures persist, consumers are increasingly turning to more affordable alternatives, causing a decline in demand for new, higher-priced clothing items offered by traditional retailers.

The closure of clothing outlets not only signals a challenging period for the retail industry but also raises concerns about the broader impact on employment.

As these giants retrench, the ripple effect on jobs within the sector is inevitable, potentially exacerbating the already alarming levels of unemployment in the country.

Observers argue that the current economic crisis in Zimbabwe calls for urgent and comprehensive measures to stabilize the situation.

Addressing issues such as inflation, currency stability, and unemployment will be crucial to restoring consumer confidence and fostering an environment conducive to business growth.

The plight of Topics and Truworths serves as a stark reminder of the interconnectedness of economic challenges and their cascading effects on various sectors.

As Zimbabwe grapples with these issues, the fate of businesses and their ability to weather the storm will depend on the implementation of effective economic policies and strategies.

We Are Unstoppable: Nelson Chamisa

By A Correspondent| Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has reaffirmed his unwavering confidence in the impending change, dismissing any attempts to thwart his vision for a better Zimbabwe.

In a recent tweet, Chamisa boldly declared, “Their plot will fail,” asserting his commitment to bringing about a transformative shift in the nation’s political landscape.

Chamisa’s tweet, laden with conviction, addressed the various challenges and obstacles that may arise in the pursuit of change.

“When I say CHANGE is coming, I am clear, certain, and fortified,” the opposition leader declared. His words echo the resilience and determination that have become synonymous with his leadership style.

The CCC leader acknowledged the potential use of subterfuge, fraud, antics, tactics, or tricks to delay the envisioned reality.

However, Chamisa emphasized a crucial distinction, stating unequivocally, “Delay is not denial!” This resolute stance signifies his belief that, despite any efforts to hinder progress, the ultimate goal of positive change will prevail.

Chamisa urged his supporters and the citizens of Zimbabwe to remain focused and undeterred by what he referred to as “sideshows.”

His message emphasized the importance of steadfastness in the face of challenges and the need to keep one’s eyes on the larger goal. “Hold fast, stay focused, and keep your eyes on the ball,” he encouraged.

The CCC leader called upon citizens to actively participate in the fight for change, urging them to join the collective effort.

His rallying cry underscores the significance of unity and collaboration in the pursuit of a better future for Zimbabwe.

High Court Dismisses CCC Appeal

By A Correspondent| High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda has dismissed a court filed by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) on the basis that he cannot make a ruling before there is a verdict on another matter where the party is challenging self-styled Interim Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu’s power.

According to CCC Spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, “Kwenda’s ruling was that- let’s wait for the summons matter. The summons matter is where we challenge Tshabangus legitimacy as the SG of the party. He says no matter can be entertained until he finalise whether or not Tshabangu is SG.”

Zimbabwe’s Currency Rollercoaster: Is Mangudya Right, or Heading for Hyperinflation Hijinks?

Zimbabwe’s parallel market, the shadowy alleyway where hard currency trades hands, is once again in a tizzy.

The Zimbabwean dollar is doing the tango with gravity, plummeting in value and sending shivers down the spines of businesses and ordinary citizens alike.

But amidst the panic, central bank governor John Mangudya has emerged, crooning a soothing tune of “temporary turmoil.” Is he right, or is this just the first act of a hyperinflation horror show?

Ghosts of 2008 Haunt the Present:

Remember 2008? The year Zimbabwe’s economy did a nosedive into the abyss of hyperinflation, with prices doubling faster than you could say “bond note.”

That wasn’t just a bad hair day; it was a full-blown economic meltdown, fueled by government mismanagement and leaving scars that still linger.

The Parallel Market: A Double-Edged Sword:

This unofficial currency bazaar, where greenbacks whisper sweet nothings to Zimbabwean dollars, is a double-edged sword.

Sure, it provides access to foreign currency, the lifeblood of many businesses and a lifeline for those seeking medical treatment abroad.

But its volatility can wreak havoc, sending prices soaring and making planning for the future feel like throwing darts blindfolded.

Artisanal Miners Shut Out of Flood Warning on Twitter? Official’s Tweet Misses the Mark

A well-intentioned message from Zimbabwe’s Permanent Secretary for Information, Nick Mangwana, aimed at warning artisanal miners about impending heavy rains, backfired on social media yesterday.

The tweet, urging miners to avoid going underground due to the high risk of flooding, was met with the stark reminder that many artisanal miners lack access to Twitter.

“The amount of rainfall expected in the next 4 days is so much that it’s advisable for Artisanal miners to evaluate the risk of going underground when chances of flooding is so high. It’s not worth it, just wait for this to pass and you can resume your work, safely,” Mangwana tweeted.

The seemingly straightforward safety advice quickly drew criticism, highlighting the disconnect between official communication channels and the reality faced by vulnerable communities.

One Twitter user reminded Mangwana that artisanal miners were not found on Twitter.

“Makorokoza haawanikwe pa Twitter, madii kungoendako,” said one Denford Madura.

By Farai D Hove | In a startling development, the whistleblower who exposed Adela Contracting’s use of potentially contaminated water from shallow streams for road construction has been arrested. This arrest has sparked significant public outcry, especially as it follows the company’s own admission of these practices during a period of heightened cholera risk.

Adela Contracting, linked with ZANU PF, acknowledged in a statement dated January 16, 2024, that they have indeed been extracting water from shallow streams in the Kambanji area, Greystone Park. Notably, this water was used in the construction and maintenance of road networks – a practice that poses a severe health hazard, particularly in the context of the ongoing cholera concerns in the region.

The video, shared widely across social media platforms including WhatsApp and Facebook, and further disseminated by news outlets such as Zimeye and Doc Dave, had initially brought these alarming practices to light. It showed Adela Contracting’s operations in the area, sparking widespread concern about the potential spread of waterborne diseases like cholera.

The company, while denying the distribution of this water for consumption or profit, did confirm its use in road construction projects. This revelation has raised serious questions about public health and safety, given the cholera risks associated with contaminated water sources.

The identity of the whistleblower remains undisclosed, and the rationale behind her arrest is being questioned by many. This action has led to a broader discussion on the freedom to report health hazards and the accountability of corporations in times of public health crises.

This incident has not only highlighted the potential health risks posed by the practices of Adela Contracting but also the challenges faced by individuals in exposing such dangers. The case continues to develop, with many awaiting further information on the legal standing of the whistleblower’s arrest and the measures being taken to address the public health concerns raised.

Adela Contracting Says It Wasn’t Cholera Contaminated Water, Though It Was Truly For Road Construction | FULL TEXT

16 January 2024
RE: VIDEO CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS.
On or about the 15th of January 2024, a video was captured by a lady whose identity has not yet been established/disclosed. In the video, allegations were made to the effect that Adela Contracting
(Private) Limited was extracting sewage water and distributing the same for purposes of profit to
residents.

The video captured the information of the company on the water bowser, as well as persons purporting to work for Adela. This video was published on various social media platforms, namely WhatsApp
and Facebook. As of the 16th of January 2024, certain news publications and tabloids had also
circulated the video, specifically Zimeye and Doc Dave.
We wish to clarify to the public the following:
1. Adela Contracting is a reputable plant-hire company in Zimbabwe.
2. Our core business is the supply and hire of plant equipment.
3. We do not distribute water for purposes of profit to private individuals or corporates, and
our company have never ventured in such business.
4. Adela Contracting was contracted by Runt Dutoit Property Developers, to supply plant and
equipment for the purposes of road construction in the Kambanji area, Greystone Park,
between Gaydon Drive and Maranzi.
5. In the area in which the video was taken runs a stream of freshwater that crosses Outspan
Drive.
6. The mandate of the private company was the diversion of the stream and drainage of any
surplus water that would interfere with the roadworks.
7. Due to the heavy rains that have been experienced over the past few weeks, a pool of
rainwater had accumulated by stream which pool needed to be diverted.
8. The water bowser captured in the video was draining water from the pool to enable further
development of the road.
9. The drained water was used for road compaction.
10. We would like to emphasize that this water is NOT sewage water.
11. Furthermore, the area itself does NOT have any sewer lines such that sewage water can be
found in the locality.
12. For emphasis, the water collected in the video was NOT distributed to residents or any
person whatsoever outside the locality.
13. ADELA CONTRACTING IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN THE
DISTRIBUTION OF WATER FOR PROFIT OR CONSUMPTION OR HOUSEHOLD
USE.
The matter has been reported to the relevant authorities and efforts are underway to establish the
source of this information.
We urge the public to desist from continued circulation of this alarmingly false and defamatory piece
of information.

ED’s Polad Principal, Shumba Goes Berserk, Unleashes Terror On Damofalls Residents

By Damofalls Correspondent | In a twist of events, a POLAD principal previously in the limelight for attempting to bribe opposition leader Nelson Chamisa with a stay at the prestigious Sheraton/Rainbow Towers Hotel, Welcome Shumba has spiralled out of control. Following his ejection from the luxurious hotel, Shumba has unleashed a wave of violence and terror upon the Damofalls, Harare community, marking a drastic departure from his once high-profile status. The incident that set off this alarming series of events began on Monday night, 16 January 2023, in the serene locales of Wenera, Musasa, and Cream Shop shopping centers in Damofalls.

Man brutally assaulted by Welcome Shumba

Residents, who were either enjoying their evening in popular nightclubs or engaging in routine shopping, were abruptly confronted with a scene of chaos and violence, masterminded by Shumba.

From Hotel boast to Damofalls terror… Welcome Shumba

Using a government-issued POLAD vehicle, Shumba, known for his connection to the nation’s elite, incited a group of youths to launch a brutal assault on unsuspecting civilians.

Leg injuries… one of the victims

The attacks were not only physically devastating but also saw the theft of personal belongings and cash, plunging the community into a state of fear and uncertainty.

Victims now at Ruwa Police station

One patron recounted her harrowing experience, saying, “I was in the bathroom, oblivious to the chaos unfolding outside. When I came out, I was shocked to see other patrons being attacked. They ordered me to lie on the floor, and one of the attackers brutally hit my backside with an iron bar. I’m in pain and deeply traumatized by the ordeal.”

A resident speaking to ZimEye at Wenera shops expressed their shock, saying, “Mukoma wangu, ndakaona hora – Big brother, I experienced horror. One of Shumba’s thugs brutally smashed a general hand at Marimira bar with a snooker stick right in his face. I wonder how he’s coping now.”

This unexpected outbreak of violence from Shumba, who once boasted of his untouchability and power, has raised serious concerns about the abuse of influence and the safety of ordinary citizens in the face of such unchecked aggression.

Shumba was still to respond for comment at the time of writing.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Ruwa station is now handling the case, and there is a growing call among the Damofalls residents for justice to be served. The community, united in their shock and distress, is demanding accountability and a return to peace and order in their shaken neighborhood.

Mighty Tunisia Fall

Sports Correspondent

Namibia secured their inaugural Africa Cup of Nations victory by stunning Tunisia in a historic match. Deon Hotto’s 89th-minute header sealed the win for the Brave Warriors in an impressive Group E opener, adding to the trend of upsets in the early stages of the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

Namibia’s victory followed Cape Verde’s dramatic last-minute triumph over Ghana, while seven-time winners Egypt narrowly avoided a shock loss to Mozambique with a late Mohamed Salah penalty.

Larger nations, including Nigeria and Algeria, also faced challenges in their opening matches against Equatorial Guinea and Angola.Namibia’s Hotto, particularly effective throughout the match, worked in tandem with captain Peter Shalulile, who had several close opportunities. Goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua played a crucial role in securing the victory with five saves.

Despite Hotto scoring a second goal in stoppage time, it was rightly ruled out for offside. The Eagles of Carthage, without Hannibal Mejbri, suffered a surprise defeat, leaving them with significant work to do in a group that includes Mali and returning South Africa.Namibia, having participated in AFCON only three times before (1998, 2008, and 2019) with limited success, turned the tables on Tuesday.

Tunisia, despite numerous chances, failed to break through Namibia’s defense, leaving head coach Jalel Kadri with urgent corrections to make before a crucial clash with Mali on Saturday night.

Bafana Bafana Fall

Bafana Bafana conceded two second-half goals in the space of six minutes to lose 2-0 to Mali in their Africa Cup of Nations opening match.

Captain Hamari Traore tapped his side into a 60th-minute lead in the Group E encounter in Korhogo before striker Lassine Sinayoko quickly added a second.

South Africa had the better of the opening period but paid a heavy price for a penalty miss from Al Ahly forward Percy Tau.

Following a relatively uneventful start to the match, the 1996 champions were handed a golden chance to edge ahead after Evidence Makgopa was caught in the face by the elbow of Sikou Niakate inside Mali’s box.

Egyptian referee Mohamed Edel pointed to the spot following VAR intervention, only for Tau to wastefully fire his 19th-minute effort high over the crossbar.

Tau, who left the Seagulls to join Egyptian club Al Ahly in 2021, was then twice denied by Mali goalkeeper Djigui Diarra as he sought to make amends.

Mali barely threatened in the opening period but nearly snatched the lead in added time when poor defending from Siyanda Xulu and Mothobi Mvala was almost punished by Auxerre forward Sinayoko.

RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara should have put 1972 runners-up Mali in front just four minutes into the second period but he somehow skied over after being slipped clear by Sekou Koita.

Eric Chelle’s side were far better after the restart and grabbed the lead with half an hour remaining.

Koita’s curling left-footed free-kick from the edge of the box was kept out by a combination of South Africa keeper Ronwen Williams and the bar but fell kindly for Real Sociedad defender Traore to poke home.

Sinayoko put the result beyond doubt only six minutes later, escaping Xulu to latch on to Kamory Doumbia’s through ball and jab beyond Bafana Bafana captain Williams.

South Africa never looked like salvaging anything from the game in the closing stages, albeit they did strike the left post through a speculative long-range free-kick deep into added time.

Conman Successfully Dupes South African Police During Elections

Pretoria- A 24-year-old “conman,” Nhlanhla Sizani, successfully deceived South Africa’s Police service by impersonating a United Nations (UN) diplomat during the 2021 local government elections. Sizani appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, facing charges of fraud, forgery, and uttering.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations, commonly known as the Hawks, revealed that Sizani submitted a fraudulent letter adorned with the United Nations insignia, requesting the South African Police Service (SAPS) escort to polling stations under the guise of a UN ambassador/diplomat.

Colonel Katlego Mogale, spokesperson for the Hawks, stated, “Sizani misrepresented himself, managing to secure an SAPS Diplomatic Police Unit escort to various polling stations as an observer during the elections.” However, investigations by the Hawks’ Crime Against the State within the Serious Organised Crime Investigation uncovered that Sizani was neither a UN ambassador nor an official observer.

Mogale emphasized the actual financial loss suffered by SAPS due to the misrepresentation. The United Nations confirmed that they had not requested the escort, exposing the extent of the conman’s deceit.

The case has been postponed to January 23 to allow Sizani time to secure legal representation. The incident raises concerns about security protocols and highlights the vulnerability of institutions to sophisticated impersonation schemes.

Mnangagwa Huchi Boy Appeals For Citizens Support

Tinashe Sambiri

In the midst of Zimbabwe’s ongoing economic challenges, Melusi Chiripowako, a staunch supporter of President Mnangagwa and the ruling Zanu PF party, has made a heartfelt plea to fellow citizens for support in his newly established courier services business.

Chiripowako’s appeal comes at a time when the country is grappling with a deepening economic downturn, and the success of his venture hinges on the willingness of Zimbabweans to rally behind his initiative.

The question looms large: will citizens, burdened by the hardships of the current economic climate, throw their support behind this business endeavor?

Taking to social media platform X, Chiripowako announced the launch of his new company, accompanied by a plea for support. His message read, “New day, my new company, support your boy, please use my services… pamwe tikaita mari tingadzore hasha. Please retweet for awareness.”

The plea, laden with a mix of hope and desperation, underscores the harsh economic realities faced by many Zimbabweans.

In a country where the majority are contending with financial hardships, the success of a business, even one initiated by a Mnangagwa apologist, relies heavily on community support.

Chiripowako’s foray into the courier services sector is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit that persists even in challenging times.

However, the success of his venture is uncertain, given the economic backdrop against which it unfolds.

The plea for retweets to raise awareness indicates a grassroots approach, seeking support directly from the people who, in turn, could play a pivotal role in the success or failure of the business. It remains to be seen how Zimbabweans will respond to this appeal.

Will they put aside political affiliations and support a fellow citizen trying to make a living in trying circumstances?

Or will the current economic hardships dampen enthusiasm for Chiripowako’s business venture?

ZRP Incompetence Exposed

Tinashe Sambiri

In a recent survey conducted by AfroBarometer, alarming revelations have come to light regarding the lack of confidence citizens have in the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

The Citizens Coalition for Change has issued a statement, shedding light on the evident shortcomings in professionalism within the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

Zimbabweans hold high expectations for the police, anticipating that they will execute their duties with professionalism, impartiality, and integrity, all while upholding the rights of citizens.

However, the AfroBarometer survey paints a starkly different picture, revealing a disconcerting level of incompetence within the force.

One of the key issues highlighted in the survey is the financial strain faced by police officers, who are currently underpaid and subjected to abuse by the regime in Harare.

This dire situation not only affects the officers personally but also raises concerns about the potential impact on their ability to perform their duties effectively and ethically.

The survey findings underscore the urgent need for reforms within the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

The Citizens Coalition for Change, led by President Nelson Chamisa, envisions a New Great Zimbabwe where law enforcement is characterized by fairness, respect, and dedication to duty.

President Chamisa pledges to address the systemic issues plaguing the police force, starting with fair and competitive salaries that reflect the sacrifices officers make in safeguarding their communities.

In President Chamisa’s vision for Zimbabwe, the police will enjoy the freedom to carry out their constitutional duties without interference or abuse from higher authorities.

This commitment is essential to restoring public trust and ensuring that law enforcement operates independently, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.

Furthermore, the Citizens Coalition for Change advocates for a police force that is dedicated to serving everyone without fear or favour.

This implies a departure from the reported instances of partiality and an earnest effort to uphold the principles of justice for all citizens, irrespective of their background or affiliations.

The call for change resonates not only with the survey results but also with the collective aspirations of a nation yearning for a trustworthy and efficient law enforcement agency.

As the Citizens Coalition for Change takes a stand against police incompetence, the hope is that this movement will catalyze tangible reforms within the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

President Nelson Chamisa’s commitment to a New Great Zimbabwe, where the police are empowered and dedicated to serving everyone, serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter and more just future.

President Chamisa’s Bold Message to Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri

In a bold and unequivocal statement, President Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has declared that the wave of change is unstoppable, sending a powerful message to President Mnangagwa and the nation at large.

The CCC, under the visionary leadership of President Chamisa, is not just a political entity; it’s an idea deeply embedded in the hearts and souls of Zimbabwean citizens.

President Chamisa’s assertion that the CCC is more than just a name highlights the profound nature of the movement.

While names can be manipulated and misused, ideas are resilient, transcending the limitations of mere labels.

The CCC stands as a beacon of hope, embodying the collective aspirations and desires of the people it represents.

The hashtag #WatchTheSpace, accompanying President Chamisa’s message, serves as a call to attention, urging citizens and the international community to observe closely as the CCC unfolds its vision for a new Zimbabwe.

This phrase encapsulates the anticipation surrounding the movement, suggesting that significant developments are on the horizon.

The notion that change is inevitable and unstoppable reverberates in President Chamisa’s words. It reflects the growing sentiment among Zimbabweans that a transformative shift is not only necessary but imminent.

The CCC, with its commitment to change, social justice, and progress, resonates with a population hungry for positive transformation.

Mnangagwa, as the incumbent leader, is undoubtedly the primary recipient of this bold message. It challenges the status quo and signals a clear intent to bring about a new era in Zimbabwean politics.

The assertion that an idea cannot be abused implies that the CCC’s core values are unassailable, providing a moral high ground from which President Chamisa and his supporters seek to drive change.

The wave of change is not confined to political circles; it permeates the very fabric of Zimbabwean society.

The idea espoused by the CCC envisions a nation where citizens actively participate in shaping their destiny, free from the shackles of oppression and stagnation.

President Chamisa’s message is a rallying cry for unity, a reminder that change requires collective effort and determination.

As the political landscape in Zimbabwe continues to evolve, President Chamisa’s bold declaration serves as a catalyst for dialogue and reflection.

It challenges citizens to question the status quo, envision a better future, and actively contribute to the realization of that vision. The wave of change may be unstoppable, but its success ultimately depends on the engagement and commitment of the people.

Addressing Inequality In Zimbabwe: What’s The Way Forward?

Source : The Fight Inequality Alliance

Zimbabwe is gearing up to actively participate in the Global Week of Action Against Inequality, taking place from January 15th to the 22nd, 2022.

The Fight Inequality Alliance, in collaboration with nations worldwide, aims to combat escalating poverty levels and the widening wealth gap between the privileged few and the marginalized many.

During this pivotal week, citizens globally will stand in solidarity to emphasize the urgency of addressing the corrosive impacts of wealth concentration in the hands of unaccountable elites.

In Zimbabwe, the Fight Inequality Alliance will orchestrate diverse platforms, rallying citizens to contribute ideas and alternatives to policymakers and solution holders.

The focus will be on underscoring the critical need to confront deeply rooted inequality, a crucial step in realizing the constitutional promise of a dignified, just, and peaceful life for all Zimbabweans.

The stark reality of inequality is increasingly evident in Zimbabwe, woven into the fabric of daily life, dividing citizens along lines of class, region, gender, and generation.

Gender and regional inequalities, in particular, perpetuate poverty, relegating millions of Zimbabweans to economic hardship based on their place of birth or gender.

To secure a brighter future for Zimbabwe, there is a pressing need to challenge and transform the structural inequalities that have long been normalized in society.

TB Joshua Is Alive, He Tricked People To Escape Arrest- Prof Ex

Many commentators are alleging that the disgraced Nigerian prophet TB Joshua is alive, contrary to news that he died and was buried. Commenting tonight are two key whistleblowers over the BBC reported rape cases.

Analysts are saying as a con artist, this would be the most expected thing TB Joshua could do after noticing investigations are hotting up against him.

https://twitter.com/ZimEye/status/1747701068270887091?t=OC5baPoP9G8DCIblbZNWRA&s=19

The below program explores the suggestion that there is a high probability that TB Joshua, the late Nigerian televangelist faked his own death. The absence of an independent autopsy and Joshua’s history of orchestrating elaborate deceptions in the name of miracles raise questions about the authenticity of his reported demise.

The Lack of Independent Autopsy:
One key factor contributing to the suspicion is the absence of an independent autopsy to verify TB Joshua’s cause of death. Given his history of manufacturing miracles and the serious allegations against him, a comprehensive examination by impartial medical professionals would be crucial in confirming the authenticity of his passing. The absence of such an examination fuels speculation about the possibility of him orchestrating his own death.

History of Deception:
The BBC’s extensive investigation, independently corroborated by numerous external journalists, exposes Joshua’s involvement in faking miracles over a span of 30 years. The report highlights a range of deceptive tactics, including the operation of an “emergency department,” the use of drugs to manipulate visitors, brainwashing followers, offering bribes, and producing fake medical certificates. This extensive history of deception strengthens the argument that Joshua might have faked his own death as another elaborate scheme.

Manipulation and Control:
The report details how followers and even emergency department workers were manipulated into participating in the deception. The use of brainwashing techniques, coercion, and exploitation of vulnerable individuals raises questions about the extent to which Joshua could control those around him. This control dynamic suggests that orchestrating a fake death could be within the realm of possibility.

Bribes and Pretense:
The revelation that disciples were charged with finding people in need of money to pretend to be sick for staged healing events adds another layer to the speculation. If Joshua could orchestrate scenarios involving individuals pretending to be sick, it raises the question of whether he could have orchestrated his own death as part of an elaborate plan.

:
While this report presents a speculative analysis based on the lack of an independent autopsy and TB Joshua’s history of deception, it is essential to note that concrete evidence is needed to confirm or refute the possibility of him faking his own death. Further investigations, including an impartial autopsy and scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding his reported demise, would be necessary to provide a more conclusive assessment.

Chiwenga Hunts Down Bedridden Ex-Wife

By Political Reporter- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga continues to press for the conviction of his bedridden ex-wife, Marry, by not withdrawing fraud and money laundering allegations against her.

The case unfolded in a hospital where Marry has been admitted since January 11, 2024, with the proceedings observed from her hospital bed.

Unfortunately, news reporters were denied access to the hearing, but a High Court judge, Pisirayi Kwenda, arrived later to join the hearing, following Marry’s lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, and prosecutor Witness Mabhaudhi.

Mtetwa confirmed Marry’s serious illness, preventing her from standing trial, and stated that the matter had been postponed to February 14.

The judge directed a government medical officer to prepare a medical report before the new hearing date.

Marry’s deteriorating health was emphasised by Mtetwa, who described her as constantly on heavy medication, with complications leading to a lack of blood circulation in both legs, similar to what happened to her amputated arm.

Fraud and Money Laundering Allegations:

Marry’s case, involving nearly US$1 million sent to China and South Africa in 2018, was moved to the High Court due to its complexity.

Prosecutors allege that Marry used her drivers to transport $14,000 to China without proper procedures.

The accusations include instructing the managing director of her South African companies to create fake invoices for the purchase of goods, diverting funds to buy personal properties.

Transactions involving CBZ and FNB accounts were flagged by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), with seized properties by South African authorities.

Chamisa Exposes Another Tshabangu Spy, Fires Him

By Political Reporter- Nelson Chamisa, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, has exposed and fired Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume for mobilising other councillors to work with party rebel Sengezo Tshabangu.

Tshabangu, a former MDC provincial youth chairperson, and MDC-N member have been recalling CCC Members of Parliament, citing irregularities and disrespect of party processes.

However, accusations suggest these recalls stem from internal conflicts within the CCC.

Tendai Biti, allegedly Chamisa’s deputy according to ZANU PF claims, is said to play a role in the process, fueled by frustration over Chamisa’s failure to manipulate the Harare East primary election against his contender Allan Markham.

Recorded evidence from the CCC’s formation in January 2022 reveals Biti never held such a position.

Events indicate Biti sabotaged his candidacy by not acting on information about a plot to shift electoral boundaries against him on April 13, 2023.

Biti’s actions, including abandoning litigation against Emmerson Mnangagwa, allegedly strengthened ZANU PF.

Mafume Betrays Chamisa, Pays The Price

By Political Reporter- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), senior member and Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has betrayed the party leader Nelson Chamisa by mobilising other councillors to work with party rebel Sengezo Tshabangu.

Six other councillors faced dismissal for engaging in actions contributing to internal party destabilization.

Mafume, after a fallout with the late Morgan Tsvangirai, aligned himself with Biti’s People Democratic Party (PDP). The expulsions mark a significant shake-up in Harare politics.

Tshabangu In Desperate Bid To Save Harare Mayor, Six Others From Recall

By A Correspondent| Disgraced and self-styled Citizens Coalition for Change Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu has reportedly countered the recall of Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume and six others by party leader Nelson Chamisa.

Tshabangu wrote to Local Government minister Winston Chitando instructing him to ignore Chamisa’s letter saying only his office had the mandate to effect recalls.

In his letter dated 16 January 2024, Tshabangu said he is the only CCC officer authorised to effect recalls and to communicate with public bodies.

He also indicated that a High Court provisional order interdicted him from effecting recalls pending the finalisation of the matter.

CCC challenged Tshabangu’s authority to recall legislators and councillors and the matter is still pending in court.

Tshabangu further advised Chitando to disregard the letters of recall until the pending matter is finalized.

Chamisa Remains Bullish: “Their Plot Will Fail”

High Court Judge Accompanies Ailing Marry Mubaiwa to Hospital Hearing

By Jane Mlambo| The ex-wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga Marry Mubaiwa had her High Court hearing held at her hospital bed at St Anne’s Hospital on Tuesday.

Mubaiwa, bedridden since January 11, faced accusations of fraud and money laundering.

During the unconventional hearing at the hospital, Mubaiwa, under the watchful eye of High Court Judge Justice Pisirai Kwenda, followed the proceedings from her hospital bed.

Her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, confirmed her severe illness, describing her as “very sick.”

The trial, originally scheduled to commence, was postponed to February 14, with the judge mandating a government medical officer to compile a comprehensive medical report before the rescheduled date.

The case, initially relegated to the High Court due to its complexity, revolves around allegations that Mubaiwa externalized almost US$1 million to China and South Africa in 2018.

The charges further assert that she utilized her drivers to transport funds without adhering to proper protocols, diverting funds intended for the purchase of goods towards acquiring personal properties.

The intricate web of financial transactions and claims of misappropriation adds a layer of complexity to the legal proceedings.

Mubaiwa’s health woes, particularly complications affecting her legs, have become a focal point in the trial’s delays.

The judge’s call for a thorough medical report underscores the interplay between the legal intricacies of the case and the defendant’s health issues.

Chamisa Fires Harare Mayor, Councillors Over Tshabangu Ties

By A Correspondent| The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, has taken decisive action by expelling Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume and six other councillors from the party.

This move follows their association with the self-proclaimed party Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, leading to internal party turmoil.

Mafume’s removal comes on the heels of his controversial re-election as Harare Mayor just a month ago.

During his tenure, there were allegations of orchestrating the recall of the then Mayor Lovejoy Chitengu to pave the way for Mafume’s return.

Reports suggested that Mafume applied pressure on councillors to vote in his favor, hinting that he held influence over their continued roles at Town House.

Despite Mafume’s aspirations for a second term, succeeding Herbert Gomba, he was reportedly disappointed when Chamisa chose not to endorse his re-election after the August General Elections.

In addition to Mafume, six other councillors were dismissed for engaging in similar actions that contributed to internal party destabilization.

Tshabangu, a former MDC provincial youth chairperson and MDC-N member, has been recalling CCC Members of Parliament, citing the need to address irregularities and disrespect of party processes.

However, there are accusations suggesting that these recalls are influenced by internal conflicts within the CCC.

Tendai Biti, who ZANU PF claims is Chamisa’s deputy, is reportedly playing a role in the process, fuelled by frustration over Chamisa’s failure to rig the Harare East primary election processes against his contender Allan. Markham.

Recorded evidence from formation of the CCC in Jan 2022 shows that Biti has never at any time held such a position in the CCC, and events show that he (Biti) on multiple occasions sabotaged his own candidacy when he failed to act on information concerning a plot by his business contender Tendai Mashamanda (Mashwede) to for the shifting of electoral boundaries against him on 13 April 2023.

Biti also helped strengthen ZANU PF when he abandoned his own litigation against Emmerson Mnangagwa over his 2018 Zambia deportation that could have suffocated ZANU PF’s candidacy for the 2023 elections, a move that could have redefined the future of Zimbabwean politics.

Mafume had aligned himself with Biti’s People Democratic Party (PDP) following a fallout with the late Morgan Tsvangirai, a pro-democracy icon.

Regime Torments CCC Councillors

In a situation raising concerns of harassment, four Chikomba RDC CCC councilors—Collen Zvarevashe, Amos Reza, Felix Zhakata, and Ishmael Maukazuva—face indefinite suspension after filing a civil case against the local authority in the High Court.

The suspension, executed by District Development Coordinator Michael Mariga, a previously embattled officer with corruption allegations, lacks legal citation for the removal of the councillors .

These councillors, aiming to challenge irregularities in council committee elections, assert that proper procedures were neglected.

Despite the absence of legal justification in the suspension notice, Mariga, backed by local authority security, forcibly removed the councilors from a full council meeting.

Mariga attributes the directive to the Mash East Provincial Development Coordinator and deflects all inquiries to him.

Brave Children Save Woman from Crocodile Attack

In a remarkable display of courage, two children, aged 12 and 9 from Domboshava’s Magaya Village, took swift action to rescue a woman ensnared by a 4-meter-long crocodile along the Mungezi River.

The 12-year-old heroically pulled the woman to safety, while the 9-year-old quickly grabbed a log, skillfully aiming for the crocodile’s eye, compelling it to release its grip on the woman.

Subsequently, National Parks authorities captured the one-eyed crocodile.

The woman, who had been fishing with nets, was fortunate to be rescued by the quick thinking and bravery of these young individuals.

ZANU PF Celebrates Defeating Its Own CCC Lapdog

By Dorrothy Moyo | In a masterstroke of political strategy, ZANU-PF, under the astute leadership of Secretary-General Dr. Obert Mpofu, is reveling in its successful maneuvering against the CCC-Tshabangu faction, a group seen as its own political creation. This development comes as the party gears up for the upcoming by-elections, turning the tables on the opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) party, and specifically its offshoot, the CCC-Tshabangu faction.

As the countdown to the February 3 by-elections begins, Dr. Mpofu’s celebrations underscore a well-executed plan by ZANU-PF to undermine and dominate its own brainchild, the CCC-Tshabangu faction. This tactic has been pivotal in setting the stage for the elections, especially in light of ZANU-PF’s significant victory in the last round of by-elections held on December 9, 2023.

graphic: Mpofu and his Tshabangu lapdog

In a tone of strategic pride, Dr. Mpofu stated, “Our celebration is not just about our strength; it’s about the finesse with which we’ve outplayed the CCC-Tshabangu faction. We have skillfully created this scenario to secure all the contested National Assembly seats and to mobilize our supporters effectively.”

The intrigue surrounding the CCC-Tshabangu faction, widely regarded as a chess piece of ZANU-PF, has brought a unique dynamic to the upcoming by-elections. The faction’s emergence, following internal turmoil and controversial decisions by CCC interim party secretary-general Mr. Sengezo Tshabangu, is perceived as a strategic move by ZANU-PF to fragment and weaken the opposition, thereby solidifying its dominance in the National Assembly, where it currently holds 184 seats.

Echoing this strategic narrative, ZANU-PF has fielded strong candidates for the contested constituencies, such as Cde Joe Tshuma for Pelandaba-Tshabalala and Cde Washington Zhanda for Goromonzi West. These candidates are instrumental in ZANU-PF’s plan to capitalize on the divide created by the CCC-Tshabangu faction.

Dr. Mpofu’s statement also highlighted the clever orchestration behind the creation of the CCC-Tshabangu faction. “We’ve orchestrated this political drama to showcase our dominance over the CCC-Tshabangu lapdog. ZANU-PF remains the unchallenged guardian of Zimbabwean aspirations,” he confidently proclaimed, reflecting the party’s triumphant mood.

With the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission progressing with election preparations, ZANU-PF’s celebratory anticipation and strategic manipulation of the CCC-Tshabangu faction point towards a party confidently poised to reaffirm and extend its political influence, potentially reshaping Zimbabwe’s political narrative in the process.

CCC Dismisses Tshabangu’s Death Threat Allegations

Tinashe Sambiri

The recent statement by Sengezo Tshabangu, alleging death threats from Honorable Amos Chibaya of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been vehemently dismissed by CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi.

In a statement released on Monday, Mkwananzi characterized Tshabangu’s accusations as “utter hogwash” and described the same as desperate and feeble efforts to undermine the citizens’ struggle.

Mkwananzi not only refuted the allegations but also emphasized the questionable motives behind Tshabangu’s claims.

He stated, “I have spoken to Honorable Chibaya and state unequivocally that he did not make any threats to Tshabangu or anybody.”

This robust denial seeks to quell any potential controversy surrounding the CCC and its representative, aiming to maintain the party’s integrity amid the upcoming February 3rd by-elections.

Tshabangu, in his public statement, portrayed the alleged threats as an attempt to intimidate him.

He asserted, “Yesterday I received some death threats from this young man Amos Chibaya.

I wish I could tell him that I’m a well-tried and tested politician who doesn’t fear anything whatsoever.”

Tshabangu’s response appears defiant, attempting to downplay the severity of the alleged threats and projecting resilience in the face of adversity.

Mkwananzi, however, dismissed Tshabangu’s narrative as part of a broader strategy to tarnish both the individual’s and the party’s image leading up to the crucial by-elections.

The CCC spokesperson urged the public to “disregard the falsehoods” and perceive them as nothing more than desperate attempts to create disarray within the political landscape.

Emmerson Mnangagwa The Silent Killer

By A Correspondent

In the rural expanse of Gutu Central Constituency, where the rhythm of life harmonized with the land, a sinister plot unfolds beneath the seemingly tranquil surface.

President Mnangagwa’s loyalists and traditional leaders, fuelled by political fervour, have devised a chilling strategy against the backdrop of a looming drought.

As the specter of inconsistent rainfall cast its shadow over the arid landscape, the vulnerability of the community becomes evident.

Food relief efforts, a beacon of hope in times of scarcity, are underway.

However, a venomous undercurrent taints these benevolent endeavors.

Traditional leaders, entwined with Zanu PF hardliners, have clandestinely decreed that sustenance would be withheld from those openly supporting President Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

A cruel form of discrimination unfolded, as those in need are divided not by hunger but by political allegiance.

Human rights defenders, their voices echoing through the corridors of justice, have vehemently condemned this selective distribution.

The very essence of humanitarian aid has been tarnished, as the basic right to sustenance became entangled in the web of political plotting.

In the face of adversity, the CCC supporters find themselves grappling not only with the merciless grip of drought but also with the insidious designs of those wielding power.

The struggle for survival transcends the challenges posed by nature; it becomes a battle against a calculated and heartless attempt to silence dissent through hunger.

As the community awaits relief, a somber tension hangs in the air.

The plot to kill CCC supporters softly has thrust Gutu Central into a perilous dance between political allegiance and the basic human right to nourishment.

Mnangagwa Aide Speaks On Working With Tshabangu

By Political Reporter- President Emerson Mnangagwa’s top aide and the Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs, Owen Mudha Ncube has opened up on Zanu PF’s relationship with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) rebel, Sengezo Tshabangu.

Addressing Zanu PF party supporters during a campaign rally in Mbizo, Kwekwe, at the weekend, Ncube praised Tshabangu for recalling CCC elected members:

CCC councillors were removed by CCC interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu and not ZANU PF, the reason being that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa imposed his councillors.

This means there is no democracy in CCC. The opposition party is a one-man band, a party without a constitution, no ideology and no structures.

They are sell-outs just to impress Western countries — America and Britain.

Tshabangu has recalled dozens of the party’s MPs and councillors since the August 2023 general elections and is believed to be working with Zanu PF.

Chamisa Councillors Fired For Challenging Dictatorship

By- Four CCC councillors in Chikomba have been suspended by the local District Development Coordinator (DCC), Michael Mariga, for filing a High Court application to declare all council committees null.

Collen Zvarevashe (Ward11), Amos Reza (Ward 10), Felix Zhakata (Ward 9) and Ishmael Maukazuva (Ward 12) were suspended during a full council meeting at council offices yesterday.

“This note serves to inform you that this office is in sync of a High court order following the suing of council by four councillors. In view of that order you are being advised to stop calling for any council business the following councillors, Reza Amos, Collen Zvarevashe, Ishmael Maukazuva and Zhakata Felix. Business for the above mentioned will only resume after court settlement,” reads the letter.

The four Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors approached the High Court in Harare seeking an order to nullify all council committees on the basis that they were imposed by the council chairperson Israel Dhikinya without elections being conducted.

“This application is an application for a decelerator in terms of Section 14 of the High Court Act (Chapter 7: 06). Precisely the applicants are seeking to have this court declare the appointment of council committees by the 2nd respondent (Dhikinya) ultra vires the standing rules of the Rural District Council and a nullity.

“On the 20th of September 2023 a council meeting was held whose agenda was to elect office bearers of different committees in the council …The 2nd respondent after the meeting went away to his office and unilaterally without the input of council members announced names of all the elected committee members,” reads part of the application seen by The Mirror.

The quartet initially approached Chivhu Magistrates Court but withdrew the application after agreeing to resolve the matter in a full council meeting with Zanu PF councillors and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bullen Chiwara.

Top Judge Denies Mnangagwa Ally Bail

By- High Court Judge Justice Benjamin Chikowero has denied former Finance Deputy Minister Terrence Mukupe, his bail pending appeal following his imprisonment for fuel smuggling in February 2017.

Mukupe was among a group of four people jailed for three years after importing over 138 000 litres of diesel into Zimbabwe without paying duty.

The fraud involves misrepresenting the fuel as in transit through Zimbabwe to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mukupe said the High Court had misdirected itself on the facts and evidence.

He claimed the court grossly misdirected itself by basing on circumstantial evidence where the inference of guilt was not the only reasonable inference to be drawn from the facts and evidence.

However, Justice Benjamin Chikowero, dismissed the appeal saying the application was without substance.

The Judge noted that even though Mukupe did not import the diesel, he unlawfully and intentionally connived to import and dodged payment of duty.

“I consider that all the grounds of appeal are without substance. I do not think that there is any real prospect of the court finding differently.

“The court explained why Mukupe is caught in the ambit of being an importer and why it was satisfied that he imported the diesel in question.
“Further, it must always be borne in mind that even if the court had not found that he did not import the diesel, it still made a finding that he unlawfully and intentionally, therefore, assisted in or was an accessory to or connived in the importation of the diesel without payment of duty thereon,” ruled Justice Chikowero.
He said Mukupe’s conviction was not based on circumstantial evidence.
“It is for these reasons that I take the view that the first ground of appeal is frivolous.
“The second ground of appeal not only attacks findings of fact, some of which were based on an assessment of the credibility of all those who testified at the trial, but is erroneous.
“The conviction was not based solely on circumstantial evidence. It rested on a combination of direct evidence and circumstantial evidence. “Consequently, there is not and can be no substance in the second, being an incorrect ground of appeal.”
Justice Chikowero said that even if he could be confident Mukupe wouldn’t abscond, “everything else is against him”.
“He failed to tip the scales in his favour. The application for bail pending appeal against conviction and sentence be and is dismissed.”
Mukupe and drivers, Sam Kapisoriso, Joseph Taderera and Leonard Mudzuto were jailed in November last year following their conviction.

Mnangagwa Speaks On Missing Air Ambulances

By Health Reporter- Presidential spokesperson George Charamba has said that Russian-made air ambulances the government received last year have no pilots.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa received the helicopters from the Russian State Corporation (Rostec) at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare on 19 May 2023.

The Herald the following day said that the country would have received at least 32 helicopters from Rostec under a public-private sector partnership agreement before the end of 2023.

However, eight months down the line, the helicopters are still grounded because the country doesn’t have trained pilots and technicians to fly them.

Responding to one Peter Mupondi who had asked why the helicopters were not airlifting patients to hospitals from accident scenes during the festive season, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman George Charamba, said:

How would you see them when you cannot see far, higher????? Helicopters are not bought together with PILOTS!!! Aya amunoti madhiraivha pamotokari, to bring the discussion to your level. Each copter needs a technician. Wazvinzwa here muzapu??? Madhiraivha ari kuVID as you tweet!

As the nation grapples with a resurgence of cholera, the absence of these helicopters, touted as life-saving assets, has become glaringly apparent.

Cholera, thought to be eradicated, has surged with over 8,000 reported cases, straining the already fragile healthcare system, especially in remote areas.

In the face of this crisis, the promised air ambulances could play a crucial role, whisking critically ill patients to better-equipped facilities and potentially saving lives.

The silence on their whereabouts, amid justifications ranging from maintenance to pilot training, feels like a betrayal of trust.

The optics are stark: symbols of international goodwill standing idle while a preventable disease wreaks havoc.

Questions arise about whether these helicopters were genuinely intended for public health emergencies or merely a political display of international influence.

The cholera crisis demands transparency.

Zimbabweans deserve convincing answers about why these supposedly life-saving tools remain grounded while loved ones fight for survival.

The air ambulances, once symbols of hope, now serve as metaphors for Zimbabwe’s challenges – a nation with potential yet grappling with preventable tragedies due to systemic inequities.

True leadership is tested not in grand displays but in everyday struggles.

The fight against cholera will reveal Zimbabwe’s heroes, defined not by gleaming metal but by an unwavering commitment to serve, heal, and save lives.

Mnangagwa In Plot To Kill Opposition Supporters Softly

Then later this was - 1987 at the end of the Gukurahundi massacres. Mnangagwa doesn't look happy that the killing is over, as it were.

Nobody Wants To Kill Tshabangu – CCC

ZLHR Jolts Parliament Into Action Over Complaints Commission

By A Correspondent| Parliament has called on members of the public to nominate suitable persons to be considered for appointment to serve as Commissioners on the Zimbabwe Independent Complaints Commission (ZICC), which will be tasked with probing complaints from aggrieved members of the public about misconduct on the part of members of the security services.

On Friday 12 January 2024, Parliament’s Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) called on the public to nominate persons to serve as Commissioners of ZICC and set 31 January 2024 as the date when submission of nominations will close.

Among its functions, the ZICC will be tasked with investigating any complaints filed against delinquent members of the security services in the discharge or purported discharge of their duties and to inspect any facilities under the control of any security service, where persons are detained among other duties.

The move by Parliament to call for nominations for the appointment of ZICC Commissioners came after it was sued by Hon. Takudzwa Ngadziore, a legislator for the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) political party, who on 5 December 2023 filed a constitutional application at the Constitutional Court, to consider the failure by Parliament to fulfil its constitutional obligations to facilitate the appointment of Commissioners to ZICC.

In the application, Hon. Ngadziore, who was represented by Kossam Ncube of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), argued that Parliament failed to fulfill its constitutional obligations as enunciated in section 237(1)(a-e) of the Constitution in respect of the procedural steps it is mandated to implement in order to facilitate the process of appointment of members of ZICC by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The opposition legislator argued that Parliament had failed to protect the Constitution and promote democratic governance in Zimbabwe.

He asked the Constitutional Court to remedy Parliament’s constitutional failures by complying with and discharging its mandate as required of it in terms of the provisions of the Constitution and to in a period of two months, submit a list of nominees to be considered for appointment as Commissioners of ZICC by President Mnangagwa.

Hon. Ngadziore also asked the Constitutional Court to order President Mnangagwa to appoint members of ZICC within 10 days of submission of the list of nominees to him by Parliament.

In response to Hon. Ngadziore’s petition, Speaker of Parliament Hon. Jacob Mudenda, opposed the application arguing that Parliament had not failed to fulfill its constitutional obligations.

Hon. Mudenda argued that Parliament was seized with other pressing business, which required its immediate attention.

Hon. Mudenda also contended that Parliament’s business was disrupted in 2023 as it was an electoral year, which saw many petitions being filed against it related to electoral issues.

The matter is yet to be set down for hearing at the Constitutional Court.

Earlier on, ZLHR had in November 2023 given President Mnangagwa an ultimatum lasting up to 30 November 2023, to ensure that he complies with the provisions of the Constitution by appointing Commissioners of ZICC.

In a letter written to President Mnangagwa by Ncube on behalf of Nesbert Munyuki, a Harare resident, the human rights lawyer protested that President Mnangagwa had spent more than one year since the enactment of the Independent Complaints Commission Act in October 2022, without appointing ZICC Commissioners as required by section 6 of the Independent Complaints Commission Act.

This failure and the delay to appoint ZICC Commissioners, Ncube said, rendered the essence of the protection of members of the public as provided for in section 210 of the Constitution nugatory, as the complaints mechanism was compromised by the fact that President Mnangagwa’s Office had not fulfilled its statutory mandate of appointing Commissioners to deal with complaints filed against delinquent members of the security services.

Kwekwe Killer Back In Court On Assault Charges

A popular Kwekwe businessman who went on a rampage killing seven people in 2021, has once again been arraigned before the courts this time facing criminal insult and assault charges.

Thubelihle Kheshow (30) grabbed headlines when he brutally killed seven people, including infants in Redcliff three years ago.

Kheshow was however adjudged to be mentally ill when he committed the offence and was released in 2023.

The judge ruled that Kheshow could not be held legally responsible for murder as he was mentally ill at the time of committing the crime.

Justice Makonese, sitting at the Gweru High Court Circuit, returned a special verdict of not guilty to murder charges because of insanity in terms of the Mental Health Act.

Kheshow is however back in court after he reportedly assaulted a man and forced him to perform sexual acts at knife point.

Kwekwe Magistrate Ms Mildred Matuvi remanded him in custody to 18 January and ordered that he be mentally examined.

Prosecuting Mr Munodawafa Njovo told the court that on 10 January 2024, at around 10 AM, Kheshow called the complainant (name withheld) to his house under the pretext that he wanted to discuss s business with him.

“As the complainant arrived at the accused’s house, the accused locked the door with the complainant inside the house. He forced the complainant to remove all his clothes while threatening him with a knife,” the court heard.

Kheshow reportedly assaulted the complainant with a kitchen knife at the back of the head and he sustained a deep cut on the head.

He reportedly forced him to perform sexual moves and play with his male organ as he recorded the abuse with his mobile phone.

The complainant was later released and he reported the matter to the police leading to his subsequent arrest.

Night Clubs, Bars Struggle To Cope With Competition From Illegal Alcohol Sellers

Illegal alcohol sellers that have sprouted across the city are crippling the business of registered nightclubs and bars while Government has set high standards of operation to bring sanity to the distribution, trends, and patterns in the industry.

Popularly referred to as dollar deals, the illegal players are mostly selling their liquor from their cars, and backyard shops.

According to nightclub, bar and bottle store owners, the trend has diminished trends of patronage at popular leisure centres that are supposed to meet a set of 26 standard requirements to be licensed to operate.

Some clubs, however, are complying with the standards.

Brand management consultant for Famous Brands Group, which runs Cosmopolitan VIP Club and Crystal Night Club, Mr Ntando Ndlovu said they were making efforts to meet Government required standards although most of their establishments complied.

“Firstly, our hospitality group has two establishments operating using a night club licence currently under scrutiny and that is Cosmopolitan VIP Club and Crystal Night Club. Crystal Night Club, which is situated in the city centre is fully insulated and meets the standards,” he said.

“Cosmopolitan VIP Club is also not in a residential area but stands at 65 percent in terms of insulation and further measures will be taken bearing in mind these new measures.”

Mr Ndlovu said Government standards presented a challenge to those that have been operating under the radar, while for their establishments it meant minor adjustments needed attention.

He noted that the Liquor Licensing Board will have to give existing establishments flexible time to make the changes without interrupting regular service and business.

Mr Ndlovu said as clubs and bars, the city’s leisure runners needed to establish an association to enable them to speak with one voice.

“There is no association that I am aware of specifically for bars and clubs, but I think the industry needs it as soon as possible,” he said.

Another nightclub owner who requested anonymity said they have been failing to meet the standards since Covid-19, which crippled their business. “After Covid-19 no one came back to the bars. People prefer to drink from their homes or places where they can hang out. They are at every corner and nothing is being done to reprimand them,” he said.

“The standards that have been set by the Government will cripple us further. We are starting to build again and now we have to contend with these challenging conditions.”

He said for now it will be a mammoth task for them to meet some of these standards.

Mr Ngoni Mangoro who also runs an establishment in the city concurred with the idea of establishing an association.

“We did have an association during Covid-19 but it ceased to exist thereafter. We need to meet as club and bar owners and set up an association,” he said.

Government last year set new guidelines for the licensing of nightclubs which include that buildings should be fully soundproof so that operations do not affect residential homes.

The Local Government and Public Works Ministry set out the new guidelines ahead of the renewal of licences for nightclubs in the 2024/25 year.

The set of stringent rules will prevent alcohol traders whose establishments have a history of complaints from the public, a record of police fines or inadequate hygiene standards from having their operating licences renewed.

The new regulations, which are part of the Government’s broader efforts to fight drug and substance abuse, seek to address public safety concerns and curb the proliferation of illegal alcohol outlets.

The move is also in response to rising concerns over the increasing number of bars operating in unsanitary environments and contributing to public disturbances.

According to the rules, liquor retailers will not enjoy automatic (license) renewal for the year 2024 if their operations pose a threat to hibernation and public safety.

The licences are issued by the Liquor Licensing Board.

In a statement, the Local Government and Public Works Ministry said a nightclub should have a minimum total floor area of at least 40m2.

“Artist performance stage is allowable only to those establishments approved for live performances. The building must be fully soundproofed for all establishments within residential areas. Entrance to have double doors of a minimum width of 1,4m (opening outwards). Air conditioning or forced draught ventilation to be operational to ensure adequate air changes,” reads the new regulations.

Illuminated fire escape signs should be displayed at all times when the public is admitted to the building.

The ministry said a minimum of two water closets for each sex and at least three urinal bowels or three- meter-long urinals must be provided.

“Adequate storage for liquor stocks and empties must be at least 10 square meters in size or may be outside the premises in some form of enclosure which must be roofed. The provision of a bar is permitted and where this is established a liquor server may not be necessary,” read the statement.

“Where a bar as such is not permitted, a server for the dispensing of liquor by waiter service through a hatchway shall be provided. Where the bar wash-up is not an integral part of the bar, a wash hand basin with a tiled splash-back and piped water must be provided.”

The ministry said the countertop and the shelves for the storage of glasses should have a smooth impervious finish.

Metal receptacles for bottle tops and metal trays to reduce spillage should be provided behind the counter.

There should be adequate fire-fighting appliances, in general accordance with the Local Authority’s requirements, to be installed and maintained in good working order.

“Adequate fire-escape facilities, indicated by prominent notices to be provided and maintained in safe order. All to meet the local authority’s requirements. Insurance Adequate insurance to be forced against legal liability for loss or damage to guests’ property; and injury, accident or illness caused to persons not in the employ of the establishment,” read the statement.

Harare Renews ZINARA Fight

By A Correspondent| The City of Harare finds itself in the grip of a road maintenance funding dilemma as the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) stands accused of daylight robbery, channeling a mere pittance of the staggering US$64 million contributed annually by the city’s 800,000 registered vehicles.

Mayor Jacob Mafume, the outspoken voice of Harare’s discontent, bemoans the meager US$2 million that trickles back to the city, constituting a paltry 3% of the colossal sum amassed from motorists’ pockets.

Mafume insists that the existing funding model is not only flawed but actively working against the city’s interests.

In a passionate plea for justice, Mayor Mafume declares, “We have communicated to the authorities that Harare has 800,000 cars, each paying US$20 per quarter. Harare motorists contribute US$64 million annually to ZINARA, but we only receive US$2 million.”

The city’s cries for a review have fallen on deaf ears for two consecutive years, leaving Harare drowning in neglected infrastructure. Mafume, undeterred by ZINARA’s indifference, exposes the glaring inadequacy of the funding received, especially considering the additional revenue generated through fuel levies and carbon taxes.

“We are not receiving anything from the fuel levy, even though the majority of fuel is consumed in Harare. The fuel levy is paid in USD, but ZINARA provides us with Zimbabwean dollars. Additionally, we get nothing from the carbon tax, which we could use to acquire equipment for air pollution measurement,” Mafume passionately explains.

Despite promises from ZINARA to engage with local authorities and reassess the funding formula, the status quo remains unchanged. Urgency grips the city as it grapples with deteriorating roads, drainage nightmares, and a desperate need for funding to revive its decaying infrastructure.

Harare, with its sprawling 5,000 km road network, demands significant investment for rehabilitation and routine maintenance.

The city’s ambitious plan to refurbish 250 km of roads annually over the next five years comes with a hefty price tag of USD 250 million.

Routine maintenance for 1,200 km each year adds an additional US$60 million to the bill.

In 2024, Harare targets the rehabilitation of 60 km of roads and 500 km of routine maintenance, desperately seeking the much-needed funds from ZINARA.

As the city struggles to keep its roads from crumbling, ZINARA’s contribution of ZWL$11,843,204,586 in 2023 seems like a drop in the bucket compared to the city’s monumental needs.

Harare’s highway heist has captured the attention of residents who demand answers and justice for a city being systematically robbed of its rightful funds.

Let’s Build Own Country, Says Zanu PF’s Lovemore Matuke

ZANU PF has expressed its readiness to reclaim local authority seats in Chiredzi Central Constituency left vacant after recalls by Sengezo Tshabangu.

During a ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Chiredzi, Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Robson Mavenyengwa announced the party’s mobilization teams are actively working to garner support for the upcoming local authority by-elections.

“We’ve gathered here in Chiredzi due to by-elections in Ward 6 and Ward 7 in Chiredzi Central. These wards were previously CCC-led, but due to internal confusion within CCC, their councillors were recalled. We see this as an opportunity to retain these seats.”

ZANU PF Politburo member Lovemore Matuke urged Chiredzi party members to strive to retain the contested seats in Wards 6 and 7.

“Some individuals consistently speak negatively about our country, and we must counteract that by loving and working for our nation. President Mnangagwa often emphasizes that nations are built by their own people.

Let’s work collectively to retain the local seats in Wards 6 and 7 and develop those areas.”

Additionally, the Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, outlined various developmental projects slated for the province this year.

In Masvingo Province, sectors like tourism, mining, agriculture,
human capital development, innovation, digital economy, housing delivery, social protection, devolution, and decentralization will contribute to our development. Achieving progress in these sectors will lead to the overall development of our province.

The meeting also featured insights from the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, Professor Amon Murwira, who highlighted the impact of the higher and tertiary education sector in Masvingo’s development.

“Focusing on heritage-based education, Masvingo Province has initiatives like the Mapfura Amarula beneficiation in Rutenga, GZU Innovation Hub producing various products from local resources, and the GZU Innovation Centre for Dry Land Agriculture in Chivi, impacting cropping mechanisms in harsh weather environments.”

Post-meeting, ZANU PF’s leadership actively campaigned for the party’s local authority candidates in Chiredzi, gearing up for the forthcoming by-elections scheduled for the 3rd of the next month.

Zanu PF Seizes Pulpit

By A Correspondent

ZANU PF’s recent move to seize the pulpit at the Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church in Warren Park, Harare, has sparked criticism from political observers and raised concerns about the appropriate use of religious spaces for political agendas.

Led by Mabel Chinomona, the ZANU PF Women’s League’s visit to the Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church was initially framed as part of a broader initiative to enlighten churches on participation in national development programs.

However, the events that unfolded during the visit have left some questioning the true nature of the party’s intentions.

The criticism stems from the perception that ZANU PF may have crossed a line by using the church platform to spread political propaganda.

Political observers argue that religious spaces, traditionally considered sanctuaries for spiritual guidance and communal worship, should not be exploited for advancing political agendas.

The pulpit, a symbol of religious authority, took on a different role as ZANU PF representatives addressed the congregation.

Some argue that this move blurs the lines between the sacred and the political, potentially undermining the impartiality and spiritual focus that places of worship are meant to uphold.

Prominent figures within the political landscape have voiced their concerns, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clear distinction between the realm of politics and religious practices.

Using the pulpit to propagate political messages, they argue, can compromise the independence of religious institutions and erode the trust placed in them by their followers.

While ZANU PF defends its actions as part of a genuine effort to engage with various communities and promote national development, the controversy surrounding the pulpit takeover highlights the delicate balance that must be maintained when political entities interact with religious organizations.

The Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church, being a well-respected religious institution, now finds itself at the center of a debate that goes beyond the immediate event.

The congregation’s reaction to the political messaging within the sacred space is yet to be fully gauged, and the church’s leadership may face challenges in ensuring that the sanctity of their pulpit is preserved.

In a democratic society, the separation of church and state is a fundamental principle aimed at protecting both religious freedom and political autonomy.

The criticism directed at ZANU PF underscores the need for political leaders to approach engagements with religious institutions thoughtfully, ensuring that the boundaries between the spiritual and the political are respected.

As the discourse continues, the Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church incident serves as a reminder that the convergence of politics and religion requires careful navigation.

Striking a balance between fostering dialogue on national development and preserving the sanctity of religious spaces is essential for maintaining the integrity of both realms in the pursuit of a harmonious and inclusive society.

Government Hits Cops With Heavy Tax

In an unexpected turn of events, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) find themselves grappling with the repercussions of heavy taxation, exacerbating the challenges posed by the deepening economic crisis in the country.

Recent paychecks for police officers have unveiled an unwelcome surprise – the once pensionable US$300 component is now subject to taxation.

This unforeseen deduction has left officers in a state of financial distress, dealing a blow to their already strained financial situations.

Reports indicate that the taxman deducted US$34 from the pensionable component, further diminishing the take-home pay for police officers.

After factoring in contributions to entities like Nyaradzo and PSMAS, most officers are left with a meager RTGS$66,000 from the RTGS$330,000 ZWL component.

Expressing the sentiment of many affected officers, one ZRP coplamented:
”It’s nothing,” highlighting the minimal amount that remains after these deductions.

This revelation has triggered an outcry among police personnel who are already facing the challenges of the broader economic downturn.

The unexpected reduction in take-home pay adds to the myriad challenges faced by law enforcement personnel, who play a crucial role in maintaining order and security within the nation.

As public attention focuses on this taxation blow to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, questions arise about the broader economic implications and the need for equitable policies that address the financial struggles faced by essential service providers.

The outcry reflects a growing concern over the economic hardships faced by individuals in vital sectors, emphasizing the urgency for comprehensive solutions to navigate these challenging times.

Black Stars Face Early Exit

Sports Correspondent

Following a disappointing 2-1 loss to Cape Verde in the 2023 Afcon Group B opener on Sunday, Ghana coach Chris Hughton reportedly faced an attack by a fan at the team’s hotel.

The assault occurred after the Black Stars conceded an early goal in the 17th minute to Jamiro Monteiro, equalizing through Alexander Djiku in the second half before a last-minute strike from Garry Rodrigues secured the victory for Cape Verde.

Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams revealed that a Black Stars supporter has been arrested for the attack on Coach Chris Hughton. Adams shared on his social media account:

“One member of the Ghanaian supporters in Abidjan has been arrested for an attack on coach Chris Hughton at the team’s hotel. It took the intervention of some Ghanaian diplomats who were around to save the coach. The unidentified man has been handed to the Ivorian Police.”

Reflecting on the defeat, Hughton expressed his disappointment:

“We are incredibly, hugely disappointed with the result. We came into the game with a game plan, changing the way of playing and the system a bit to start on the front foot.

We thought the team put out was certainly a more offensive team. This was our intention. I think it rocked us, the goal that we conceded, but I thought we got back into the game. At that stage, it looked like we could go on and win it.

We are hugely, hugely disappointed with our result.”

“Some individuals consistently speak negatively about our country, and we must counteract that by loving and working for our nation. President Mnangagwa often emphasizes that nations are built by their own people.

Let’s work collectively to retain the local seats in Wards 6 and 7 and develop those areas.”Additionally, the Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, outlined various developmental projects slated for the province this year.”

Mnangagwa’s Air Ambulances Missing As Cholera Patients Treated Under Trees

By Health Reporter- President Emerson Mnangagwa showcased Russian-made air ambulances last year as a vital addition to Zimbabwe’s emergency response capabilities.

However, as the nation grapples with a resurgence of cholera, the absence of these helicopters, touted as life-saving assets, has become glaringly apparent.

The current silence on their whereabouts, amid justifications ranging from maintenance to pilot training, feels like a betrayal of trust.

The optics are stark: symbols of international goodwill standing idle while a preventable disease wreaks havoc.

Questions arise about whether these helicopters were genuinely intended for public health emergencies or merely a political display of international influence.
The cholera crisis demands transparency.

Zimbabweans deserve answers about why these supposedly life-saving tools remain grounded while loved ones fight for survival.

RBZ Launches Inquiry On Kreamorn Investments Following Allegations of Auction Misconduct and Fraud

By A Correspondent| The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has launched an inquiry into Kreamorn Investments (Private) Limited, following gross allegations of misconduct.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint from Mr. Tendai Mashamhanda.

In a letter dated 7 December 2023, the Reserve Bank raised concerns over a payment of US$270,000 made by Kreamorn Investments to the High Court Sheriff bank account on 24 October 2018 for and on behalf of Kingstone Hamutendi Munyawarara and Bariadie Investments Private Limited.

The complaint alleges serious violations, accusing Kreamorn Investments of contravening sections 30(2) and 23(1)(c) of the legal framework governing the sale of immovable property through public auction. Additionally, there are claims that the company engaged in fraudulent transactions, producing falsified bank statements and deposit slips for non-existent deposits, in disregard of section 19 of the Microfinance Act.

The Managing Director of Kreamorn Investments, as addressed in the letter, has been given a seven-day ultimatum to respond to these allegations. The letter emphasizes the need for the company to provide documentary evidence to support its position.

Commenting on the unfolding investigation, Mr. Mashamhanda expressed his concerns, stating, “The allegations against Kreamorn Investments raise serious questions about the integrity of the auction process and the adherence to established financial regulations. The public deserves transparency and accountability in such matters.”

Mthuli’s Evil Tax Impact, Bread & Meat Prices Soar

By Business Reporter- In the wake of recent anti-people tax reforms implemented by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, the cost of bread and meat and several basic commodities have spiked, surging by 20% within a month.

Most notable is the price of bread which was previously at US$1.00 a loaf and now stands at US$1.20, marking an additional increase from the briefly reduced prices of US$1.10 to US$1.20 earlier this month.

Retailers cite fluctuations in the exchange rate as the driving force behind the increment, with major supermarkets in Harare reflecting prices ranging between $10,000 and $11,000.

Denford Mutashu, president of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR), attributes the hike to supply-side dynamics influenced by official and unofficial exchange rate movements.

While some tuckshops are selling bread at the elevated price of US$1.20, traders in high-density suburbs are pricing it at US$1.10.

Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) Chairman Tafadzwa Musarara denies a hike in wheat prices, directing inquiries to the National Bakers’ Association of Zimbabwe (NBAZ).

NBAZ president Dennis Zinyama attributes the price surge to the introduction of new taxes by the Treasury.

He explains that the shift in bread’s taxable status from zero-rated to exempt supply means manufacturers can no longer claim input tax on production and distribution costs.

As a result, these costs are now integrated into the overall production and distribution expenses, compelling a price adjustment.

This rise in bread prices compounds economic challenges for consumers, coming on the heels of government decisions to tax civil servants’ allowances, further impacting a population grappling with increased living costs.

AICAR Peptide: Research Uses

Studies suggest that when compared to adenosine monophosphate, AICAR is somewhat similar. Research studies have suggested its efficacy in preventing myocardial ischemia after a heart attack. Because of its antioxidant characteristics, AICAR may be useful in delaying the onset of physiological aging. The potential of AICAR as a mediator of the consequences of inflammatory disorders, diabetes, and autoimmune illnesses is an area of active investigation.

AICAR Peptide: What is it?

AICAR, an abbreviation for 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleoside, is a small peptide that has been hypothesized to function in energy balance and various metabolic processes. AICAR is theorized to control insulin receptors and insulin-related cellular processes in muscle cells. The cancer-fighting and heart/cardiovascular tissue-protecting potential of AICAR are now the subject of intensive inquiry. AMP kinase (AMPK) activators include AICAR.

Research suggests AICAR may manage acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the activated version of naturally occurring acadesine. Acadesine, similar to AICAR, may have anti-cancer characteristics, as suggested by research. Additionally, findings imply it may help avoid the early phases of blood clotting by suppressing platelet activity.

AICAR Peptide and Insulin Resistance

Investigations purport that AICAR may decrease inflammation in adipose tissue. Reducing inflammation improves glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity even in the absence of weight changes because inflammation in fat is linked to elevated insulin resistance. It seems that AICAR may influence inflammation in adipose tissue via many routes, one of which involves SIRT1 and macrophages.

AICAR has also been hypothesized to affect adipose inflammation. AMPK may reduce inflammatory reactions in metabolic diseases in both normal and diabetic mice. Insulin sensitivity, energy balance, lipid metabolism, and inflammatory markers were all speculated to improve in mouse studies when AICAR activated AMPK.

The amount of GLUT-4 insulin receptors on muscle cell surfaces increases during physical activity. Research suggests it may decrease glucose levels and insulin resistance and might be among the best ways to increase glucose absorption by muscle cells.

AICAR Peptide and Cancer

AMPK is involved in various cancer-related processes, including tumor growth regulation and metastasis. Overall, studies show that the enzyme’s prolonged activation slows cancer cell metabolism and makes cancer cells more vulnerable to environmental insults, ultimately leading to cancer cell death. This has been shown in rat studies as well as in cell cultures. Researchers are examining whether AICAR may increase the efficacy of other chemotherapy substances when combined.

As suggested by studies on thyroid cancer cells, AICAR could potentially function by inducing apoptosis, commonly known as programmed cell death. Inducing p21 accumulation and caspase 3 activation seems to mediate this action. Inhibition of cancer cell multiplication and survival is the overall perceived impact.

AICAR Peptide and Inflammation

There is data to suggest that AMPK activators are involved in cellular inflammation. One of the reasons a diabetic compound works is because it decreases inflammation and increases pancreatic function, according to studies. In inflammatory diseases such as hepatitis, atherosclerosis, colitis, acute lung injury, and asthma, AICAR has been hypothesized to have preventive function.

The potential of AICAR as a mediator of inflammatory disorders and autoimmune illnesses is a topic of active investigation. For example, ACIAR has suggested promise in lowering inflammation in colitis in mouse experiments. By decreasing NF-kappaB activation in macrophages and TH1- and TH17-type cytokines, AICAR is a key inhibitor of immunological responses in this context.

AICAR Peptide and the Heart

Inflammation is associated with a lot of cardiac diseases. Atherosclerosis and other vascular diseases might be slowed down if inflammation could be controlled. Studies on rabbits with atherosclerosis suggest that AICAR may inhibit the growth of vascular smooth muscle. This is a key feature of cardiovascular disease and a contributing factor to the gradual failure of cardiac stents. Without medications that raise the risk of bleeding, reducing vascular inflammation might lessen the likelihood of immediate and delayed stent insertion problems.

Additionally, studies have purported that activation of AMPK may decrease immunological responses, contributing to atherosclerosis. Macrophage proliferation occurs when LDL levels build. A heart attack may develop from the buildup of plaques. The prevalence of heart disease and heart attacks may be reduced if anything could be done to slow this increase.

AICAR Peptide and Fertility

The potential of the peptide AICAR to enhance sperm motility, energy metabolism, and fertilization capacity has been the focus of most AICAR research. Animal studies in cats, goats, and chickens have hinted that AMPK activators such as AICAR may enhance sperm motility by regulating energy consumption. AICAR’s regulation of spermatozoa’s energetic enzyme activity has been hypothesized to affect the overall fertilization capacity.

Biotech Peptides sells AICAR and other peptides made in the USA for research and education, not for human consumption. Licensed researchers are the only ones who should purchase AICAR.

Early Exit Looms for Ghana’s Black Stars

Ghana’s Black Stars face Egypt in their next Group B match on Thursday, hoping to bounce back from their early setback.

Remember The Day Biti Possessed Power To Kick Mnangagwa Out Forever But Used It To Help ED Destroy CCC? Will Zikomo Recover?

SADC, Chamisa, And The Keys To State House.

By Simba Chikanza | In delving into Zimbabwe’s political conundrum, it’s essential to discern two distinct yet intertwined elements: the keys to the State House and the passwords to the future. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) plays a controversial role, often perceived through a lens clouded by state propaganda and misinformation. Nelson Chamisa, as a prominent opposition leader, embodies the struggle within organized political movements to enact substantial change. Equally significant is the role of the individual citizen, whose potential influence in dictating the nation’s trajectory is frequently underestimated.

This analysis aims to unravel these layered dynamics, distinguishing between the immediate control of the State House and the broader, more elusive quest to unlock Zimbabwe’s future.

Clarifying the Real Power Dynamics in Zimbabwe: A Comprehensive Analysis.

Amidst the swirling rumors and accusations in the political landscape of Zimbabwe, particularly targeting Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the opposition, it is essential to offer a clear and evidence-based perspective on the actual dynamics of state power transfer in the country.

The Misconception about Nelson Chamisa’s Role.

There is a widespread but misguided belief that Nelson Chamisa, as a prominent opposition figure, holds the key to driving significant change in Zimbabwe. However, historical patterns and political realities in Zimbabwe suggest otherwise. The notion that a well-organized opposition can efficiently instigate change has consistently been disproved. In fact, the more organized and visible an opposition, the more susceptible it is to sabotage and disruption.

Historical Context: The Role of the Insignificant
Throughout Zimbabwe’s history, significant changes have often been brought about by those considered least significant. These individuals, wielding minimal power and adopting less visible methods, have been the true agents of change. This pattern can be traced back to the Pioneer Column of settlers in the 1890s, who employed subterfuge rather than overt protests or organized movements to gain control.

Government Composition: The Legacy of the Liberation Struggle
A surprising reality is that many of the core participants in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle are not part of the current government. Instead, the government has been infiltrated and shaped by individuals appointed by the Rhodesia Special Branch to undermine the efforts of the genuine liberation soldiers.

The Power of the Marginalized.

The real power in Zimbabwe, it seems, lies with the poorest and most disorderly individuals who operate independently, without formal organization or announcement. A case in point is Emmerson Mnangagwa, who rose from obscurity, avoiding traditional forms of protest and demonstration, to achieve a position of significant influence.

#### The Case of Emmerson Mnangagwa
Mnangagwa’s journey is illustrative of the unconventional paths to power in Zimbabwe. Despite being dismissed and even ridiculed by his own family, he was chosen by the Rhodesia Special Branch for his roughness and seeming insignificance. His involvement in controversial acts and subsequent exile eventually led him to significant positions of power, influencing key figures and events in Zimbabwe’s political history.

#### Understanding Power Transfer in Zimbabwe.

The transfer of power in Zimbabwe does not conform to the conventional patterns observed in democratic societies. It is not tied to election cycles or visible political movements. Instead, as demonstrated in the “State Power Now” programs initiated in March 2021, power can shift unexpectedly and rapidly, often influenced by external or seemingly insignificant actors.

#### Tendai Biti is one person who a few months ago possessed power to remove Mnangagwa in one day, but he got sucked into his petty angers.

A US Womens Rights Director in Oct broke silence to call out the disgruntled barrister and former Harare East MP, over his accusations that his colleagues in the CCC party crashed his political career earlier this year.

Writing on Twitter, the outspoken Comfort Dondo said Biti created his own mess from scratch at a time when he could have saved the entire nation from the ZANU PF engineered collapse.

She said Biti had more than capacity to get Emmerson Mnangagwa banned for life from SADC, AU, and UN meetings, and after helping salvage the dictator’s career, it is him (Biti) who’s now been blocked by his own ‘baby,’ ED.

She spoke of how Biti even sabotaged her own attempts at stopping the ongoing abductions happening in Zimbabwe, and the winning legislator, Allan Markham, who Biti has accused of rigging even tried to help him (Biti) execute the Messaiahnic-role back in Sept 2022.

Biti is still to comment over the strong allegations. (click to read)

Meanwhile, she wrote on her Twitter handle saying:

Breaking my silence finally!!!!

Biti come here and deny this, that you turned your back in Sept 2022, when you cared not a thing to save both your career and the lives of Zimbabweans, when you perfectly KNEW that I and other Zimbabweans were stranded in Zambia with your lawyer, as we waited for you.

I SAID COME HERE, TENDAI! HUYA PANO!

Tendai Biti you missed a chance to change both the future of the Zim people and your career, on multiple times since Aug 2021, when you flew to Zambia to celebrate HH’s inauguration.
You should have continued your lawsuit against the Zambian government, this time demanding an apology for the state’s role in assisting ED do a coup on Chamisa, in his [the] 2018 forced deportation.
13 months later, now in Sept 2022, I was part of a mission spearheading a facilitation for Biti to launch his case, in a an attempt to beat time and do everything before the 2023 elections.

I spent nearly 2 weeks blowing 7K in Zambia waiting for you to turn up but you dodged even returning phonecalls.

I sat down for 2 hours with
Biti’s Zambian lawyer, who confirmed to me that he (Biti) and colleagues can obtain a Zambia Court UN level verdict that can before end of 2022 get ED de-registered at UN, SADC, and AU institutions over the coup he did between 1st and 9th Aug 2018. This is so since there is clear broadcast evidence that ED overthrew an elected govt at its inception on 1st to 9th Aug 2018, and the crime happened in 2 cities, Harare and Lusaka *culminating in the deportation of Biti. A record of events in Zambia shows with pristine clarity that it was a crime against humanity and part and parcel of Mnangagwa’s coup. There is thus more evidence of an insurrection in 2018 than there is for the 2017 coup, which needs to be cured, or at least announced for what it was/is. Without this UN level announcement, it would be difficult to enter the 2023 polls with changes of winning anything.

Biti looked away from this amazing opportunity.

Fast forwards to March 2023, Biti was phoned multiple times being warned that a ZANU PF businessman he is at loggerheads with has ordered the Justice Ministry to ensure that he fails to contest the 2023 elections. The instructions were very clear, but Biti who could have discouraged that plan did not care to return phonecalls.

How he now seems to blame his CCC colleagues for his failure to contest is just baffling.

Biti could have gotten ED blocked from attending SADC meetings at the earliest opportunity and in 2022, the Senior Zambian diplomat and Mnangagwa childhood friend, Ambassador Vernon Mwaanga emphasises of this: ” A firm commitment to democracy and to the holding of free and fair elections both the African Union and sad C have got very specific provisions to the protocols demanding that all member States should hold free and credible elections, whose outcome should represent the will of the people ….. The will of the people not the will of the leaders but the will of the people, because the people are the centre of democracy, so it has to be understood that as we move forward as a country and as the continent, that we must respect the wishes of the people by not interfering with elections, and by not interfering with people who are actually going to take part in voting the leaders of their choice.

“This is extremely important, unless members of SADC and the AU adhere to these provisions of the OAU; the AU, and SADC are committed to which we are all committed as member states because we approved those provisions, and it’s important that we should not just approve, we should always make sure that the will of the people is respected. “

Ambassador Mwaanga said under normal circumstances, someone like Emmerson Mnangagwa, whose administration recently banned a film that exposes his 2018 coup, should not be allowed into SADC meetings.
I’m personally very disappointed in this kind of politicking at the expense of Zimbabweans.

#### Lessons from the Past and Implications for the Future
The story of a young man in the 1960s, disparaged by his family but eventually empowered by the Rhodesia Special Branch, further underscores the unconventional pathways to power in Zimbabwe. His journey from a perceived nobody to a significant political player reveals the complex and often unexpected dynamics of power in the country.

The case of Zimbabwe presents a unique and complex landscape where traditional notions of political power and change do not apply. Understanding this context is crucial for anyone seeking to comprehend or influence the political trajectory of the nation. The focus should not be solely on visible figures like Nelson Chamisa but on the broader, more intricate web of power dynamics at play.

### Analyzing the “State Power Now” Reality: Unveiling the CIO’s SADC Facade in Zimbabwe

Recently,, a deceptive political maneuver orchestrated by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) has emerged, misusing the Southern African Development Community (SADC) acronym to mislead the populace. This strategy involves spreading misinformation about supposed SADC meetings and promises of fresh elections, ultimately aiming to foster complacency and inaction among Zimbabweans.

#### The Misleading SADC Narrative
The state has been circulating false narratives claiming that the SADC is advocating for new elections in Zimbabwe. This disinformation serves as a distraction from the urgent need for an immediate transfer of power. It creates a false sense of hope and democratic progress, making the citizens overlook the necessity of immediate action.

#### Debunking the Election Myth
The continuous focus on future elections is a clever ploy by the state to delay genuine change. It instills a belief in the populace that change is achievable through the next electoral cycle, effectively postponing the moment of action indefinitely. This strategy ensures that the current power structures remain unchallenged.

#### The Concept of “State Power Now”
“State Power Now” encapsulates the urgent need for immediate action in Zimbabwe’s political context. It emphasizes that real change and the transfer of power cannot be deferred; it must happen in the present. Waiting for future events like elections only serves the interests of those currently in power, delaying the potential for real transformation.

#### The Role of the CIO
The involvement of the CIO in propagating these falsehoods highlights the state’s commitment to maintaining control. Those echoing the sentiments of waiting for elections, whether intentionally or not, are aiding the state’s agenda. They are diverting attention from the immediate necessity of changing the power dynamics in the country.

#### The Risk of Political Apathy
This tactic induces a sense of political lethargy among the citizens, making them less likely to act against the status quo. The illusion of future elections as a solution perpetuates a passive approach to political change, keeping the current power structures intact.

#### The Imperative of Immediate Power Transfer
The critical need is not for another election, but for an immediate power transfer. The real battle for change lies in the actions taken now, not in future electoral promises. The citizens of Zimbabwe must recognize and see through this facade, understanding that true change requires immediate and decisive action.

In summary, the CIO’s misuse of the SADC name in Zimbabwean politics is a deliberate tactic to mislead and pacify the population, steering them away from the pressing need for immediate power transfer. The concept of “State Power Now” should be the guiding principle for those seeking genuine change in Zimbabwe, emphasizing the urgency of action in the present rather than the false hope of future elections.- ZimEye

Heavy Tax Blow To Zimbabwe Republic Police Cops Sparks Outcry

Nelson Chamisa’s Unwavering Faith: A Commitment to Political Transformation Through Faith, Not Force

In the realm of Zimbabwean politics, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa stands out not only for his political prowess but also for his steadfast faith in God. In a world where political battles are often fought with bullets, Chamisa is making it clear that his arsenal consists of the Bible, not weaponry, to overcome political adversaries.

Chamisa’s recent statement, shared on a public platform, resonates with his unshakable reliance on faith.

Quoting from 1 Chronicles 29:11-13, he emphasizes the greatness, power, and glory that belong to the divine.

The passage reflects Chamisa’s acknowledgment that ultimate authority lies in the hands of a higher power, transcending the tumultuous landscape of politics.

Chamisa’s Statement: A Testament to Faith

“UNTO GOD BE THE GLORY AND HONOUR… Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You….In Your hands are power and might to exalt and give strength to all- to make anyone great and powerful. Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks, and we praise Your glorious name. 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 Blessed Sabbath. #Godisinit”

This statement not only reveals Chamisa’s deep spiritual conviction but also signifies his commitment to a non-violent approach in achieving political goals. Choosing the Bible over the bullet, he advocates for a transformative path guided by faith, gratitude, and praise.

Political Transformation Through Faith

Chamisa’s faith-driven approach challenges the conventional norms of political maneuvering.

By emphasizing divine strength and exaltation, he signals a departure from strategies rooted in aggression and force. This commitment to peaceful and faith-driven politics raises intriguing questions about the intersection of spirituality and governance.

As Zimbabwe observes this unique blend of political leadership and unwavering faith, the spotlight remains on Nelson Chamisa’s journey, showcasing an alternative narrative that seeks to inspire change through the power of faith rather than the force of arms.

Mabvuku Man In Court For Attempted Extortion

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum is representing a Mabvuku councillor, Alexio Nyakudya who is accused of attempted extortion.

The complainant, Patrick Chiremba, alleges that Nyakudya refused to allow the Mabvuku District Office to close off a ditch in Ward 21 of Mabvuku constituency, demanding that they withdraw criminal charges against former Mabvuku MP Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi first.

Nyakudya denies the charges because they are calculated to victimise him on account of his political affiliations.

He was formerly charged with abuse of office which was changed to attempted extortion.

He appeared before Harare magistrate Ntombizodwa Sibanda who granted him free bail.

He is set to appear again in court on 11 March 2024 for trial.

He is being represented by Noble Chinhanu of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum

Mthuli Ncube Sabotages Rwodzi’s Domestic Tourism Initiatives

By A Correspondent| Discord within the government is surfacing as Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube appears to be undermining his Tourism counterpart Barbara Rwodzi’s efforts to boost domestic tourism.

This follows the recent toll fees hike which Rwodzi feels have affected domestic tourism.

Despite protests from motorists, the government implemented a 100% increase in toll fees earlier this month, leaving citizens and industry players disgruntled.

Rwodzi, acknowledging the negative repercussions, expressed her concerns during a media briefing last Friday.

She lamented that the toll fees hike acts as a significant deterrent for Zimbabweans who frequently embark on road trips for recreation.

Rwodzi disclosed that she attempted to negotiate with the Transport Ministry to lower the toll fees, but her efforts were in vain.

“We were not in support of the move. However, we negotiated for the fees to be reduced,” she stated, emphasizing the toll fees’ potential impact on domestic tourism.

She highlighted the burden on motorists, especially those traveling on key routes such as Harare to Victoria Falls, where multiple tollgates could accumulate a substantial cost.

The toll fees for prime roads, including Harare-Beitbridge and Plumtree-Mutare highways, have surged for various vehicle categories.

Light motor vehicles now pay US$4, up from US$2, while minibuses, buses, heavy vehicles, and haulage trucks face similar increments.

Rwodzi underscored the urgent need for the rehabilitation of the deteriorating Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway, expressing hope that improved road infrastructure would enhance accessibility and, consequently, benefit the tourism industry.

Surprisingly, the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (Zinara) defended the toll fees hike, citing the necessity to expedite funding for road infrastructure rehabilitation.

In their statement, Zinara explained that the revised fees were part of a broader strategy to secure funds for ongoing road rehabilitation and routine maintenance, thereby justifying the controversial decision.

Plawn Motors Sparks Outrage with Alleged Tribalistic Job Advertisement in Bulawayo

By Jane Mlambo| Plawn Motors, a prominent automotive company headquartered in Harare, is facing scrutiny for an alleged promotion of tribalism in the country through a controversial job advertisement.

The company’s recent announcement seeking a bike messenger proficient in both Shona and English has ignited a firestorm, as it appears to favor Shona-speaking candidates over the predominantly Ndebele-speaking population in Bulawayo.

Renowned journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda has strongly criticized Plawn Motors, questioning the motivations behind their language requirements for the messenger position.

Sibanda raised concerns, stating, “Plawn Motors wants a messenger in Bulawayo who can speak English and Shona fluently. Is this an oversight, or does the company have an agenda? Who will be served in Bulawayo, only the Shona-speaking population?”

Sibanda’s remarks resonate with many who view the job advertisement as a blatant effort to segregate and marginalize Ndebele-speaking individuals and other ethnic groups in the city.

Critics have used the term “Cooperate Gukurahundi” to draw parallels between Plawn Motors’ alleged discriminatory practices and historical ethnic conflicts in the region.

Plawn Motors’ listed qualifications for the messenger position, including O levels, proficiency in Shona and English, and three years of messenger experience, seem standard.

However, the controversial addition of “Applicants Restricted to Bulawayo Residents” has fueled accusations of tribalistic hiring practices.

Expressing his disapproval, Ezra Tshisa Sibanda took to social media with hashtags like #PlawnMotorsMustGo, #NoToTribalism, and #NoToDiscrimination.

His post has gained momentum, with many locals echoing his sentiments and demanding accountability from Plawn Motors.

In response to the growing controversy, local activists and community leaders are mobilizing efforts to address what they perceive as an attempt to divide the people of Bulawayo along tribal lines.

The situation is garnering attention not just as a critique of Plawn Motors but also as a broader concern about the potential exacerbation of tribal tensions within the community.

Mnangagwa’s Flagship Project Faces Scandal as Ministry Directors Face Anti-Graft Investigators

By A Correspondent| In a shocking revelation that threatens to expose widespread corruption within President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration, several directors at the Ministry of Transport are now under investigation by anti-graft authorities.

The Zimbabwe Independent can exclusively disclose that whistleblowers have leaked explosive details connecting these directors to the misappropriation of funds intended to compensate owners of companies and houses affected by the Mbudzi Interchange project in Harare.

The ongoing probe by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is expected to extend beyond the Ministry of Transport, potentially uncovering serious governance deficiencies within the government.

Last year, looters forced the Treasury to halt payments to contractors, a move that disrupted the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) touted by Mnangagwa as a key success of his administration.

Insiders suggest that high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, as well as executives at two prominent real estate agencies involved in property valuations for the affected areas, may also come under scrutiny.

The extent of the fraud, reportedly involving manipulated figures to inflate property values, remains unclear. However, sources claim that the ill-gotten gains were shared between property owners and corrupt officials.

Last year’s estimated payout of up to US$35 million to around 130 affected companies and residential properties for relocation and restarting elsewhere now appears dubious.

Allegedly, a significant portion of the funds, around US$12 million, might have been siphoned off by corrupt individuals and businesses by the end of 2023, though the accuracy of these figures remains unverified.

Despite numerous attempts to seek clarification, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has yet to respond to inquiries regarding these allegations.

The Mbudzi Interchange project, a US$88 million endeavor crucial to southern Africa’s transportation corridors, has become a symbol of Mnangagwa’s ERRP.

However, the joint venture executing the project, called Tefoma, now faces scrutiny as accusations of corruption threaten to derail its progress.

Masimba Holdings, Fossil, and Tensor, the firms involved in the consortium, secured the deal in 2021, intending to finance the project through a vendor financing model with a loan from Fossil.

The investigation comes at a critical juncture for the government, as Mnangagwa’s flagship ERRP faces setbacks and delays.

Contractors, facing cash flow problems, had threatened to pull out after accumulating an estimated ‘US$150 million’ in unpaid invoices.

The government’s directive to suspend payments to service providers, aimed at curbing hyperinflation, has evidently backfired, leaving a trail of corruption and financial mismanagement in its wake.

ZACC spokesperson Thandiwe Mlobane confirmed the ongoing investigation but refrained from providing detailed information.

As the probe unfolds, it has become clear that corruption allegations are surfacing amidst internal power struggles within the Ministry of Transport, underscoring the magnitude of the governance crisis within the government.

The Power of Data Analytics to Revolutionise Public Safety-

By Stephen Bottger, Executive: Operations and Ashley Bruyns, Head of Engineering at Altron Systems Integration

The use of applications, technology and data analytics can play a significant role in public safety globally. The potential of data to improve public safety is multifaceted, and an exciting reality of what is available already, as well as what is to come. Locally, the potential is endless, yet compared to many international markets, very few of the opportunities available are being applied.

While South Africa may not be as advanced as many global counterparts when it comes to data-driven safety, there are projects that illustrate just what an impact this technology can have on society. During the pandemic we have seen a collaboration between technology solutions providers and telecommunications companies; enormous amounts of data were collected and used to identify pandemic hotspots, impacting the allocation of scarce medical and policing resources and potentially saving many lives.

Undoubtedly, the transformative influence of technology in public safety has seen a noteworthy partnership. Altron Systems Integration embarked on a proof of concept with the South African Police Service to look at the feasibility of using advanced image recognition tools and surveillance technology. The intention is to use cameras placed around different cities are able to use highly scalable, deep learning technology to identify objects, people, text, scenes, and activities in both images and videos, as well as detect any inappropriate content, far beyond only identifying facial features.

What this means is that the data collected could detect if someone is wearing glasses or even holding a weapon, with this new technology taking the use of image recognition to a whole new level, keeping our communities safer and making our cities smarter.

Balancing the innovation, privacy, ethics, and cybersecurity aspects of any data-driven technology is crucial, with the protection of personal information being non-negotiable.
Access control and compliance are key. All data can only be accessed when there is an investigation and police clearance will be required to access this data.

Additional access controls across the board include POPIA locally, and GDPR compliance for some of Altron’s UK-based clients, as well as the use of local partners to ensure that all data is kept in the country.

Particularly in a South African context, the responsible use of data analytics and predictive modelling, linking platforms to build profiles and identify trends in order to utilise the limited resources that we have more effectively, is where the magic lies.

From a crime prevention perspective, law enforcement and emergency services have the potential to access vast amounts of data to anticipate and prevent crimes or accidents, pinpoint trouble hotspots and allocate resources, thereby deterring incidents before they happen. This is where the analysing and management of data really is and will continue to build a smarter and safer society.

Tech is advancing so fast that if we embrace and adapt to it, the possibilities of using it to enhance safety are unlimited. While we may not know exactly what this looks like in the future, the balancing act of protection without being too invasive is key and the reality of data for public safety is real and is here.

By linking different data collection platforms, a specialist provider and other partners including stakeholders have the potential to identify trends, build profiles and integrate the use of this data to a much larger extent.

Using and interpreting real-time data which is available on large-scale enterprise platforms has infinite possibilities. Partnering with a technology solutions provider means that we can build and optimise these platforms and support these initiatives, partnering with businesses that can make a difference where it matters most.

The integration of technology and data into public safety is providing unprecedented tools, applications and capabilities to respond to and prevent crises, and keep our citizens safer. There is endless capacity available, a multitude of iterations that exist and solutions available now for data and associated applications to have a real impact on public safety.

FULL TEXT: CCC Urges Party Candidates To Focus On By-Elections Campaign

By Promise Mkhwananzi| Our candidates and our supporters are urged to remain focused on the campaign and preparing to vote in the upcoming by-elections to retain our elected representatives while our lawyers address this issue.

Our legal teams have advised that this matter is already before the Supreme court on an appeal basis following the initial barring of our candidates on the 9th of December 2023.

It is their considered view that the high court, to which this ill-fated appeal was lodged, being a lower court, must defer this matter to the superior court, which is the Supreme Court which is in the process of determing the matter anyway. So this appeal is not urgent and must and will be thrown away.

It must be noted that Tshabangu was barred from making any further recalls until the matter is finalised in another separate appeal before the Supreme court. What this means is that Tshabangu is unable to make any further recalls until the determination of that matter.

But because Tshabangu and his accomplices do not have any authority over the party or it’s deployees other than the threat of recalls, Tshabangu has no choice but to keep threatening party deployees with recalls in order to threaten and force them to comply with his criminal instructions, which explains even this attempt to bar @CCCZimbabwe
from contesting.

It is sad to note that @ZANUPF_Official
does not respect the will of the people and the outcome of the elections even going by their cooked figures of August 23, 2023.

Zimbabwe must put itself in positive light by being seen to be promoting rather than stiffling democratic competition. The barring of @CCCZimbabwe is a further dent on the regime’s image which already suffered immensely from the disputed outcome of the general elections roundly condemned by all observers.

The attempt to bar our candidates is further vindication that Zimbabwean authorities and @ZECzim are not interested or capable of allowing a free and fair election to take place.

Barring two or three MPs and a couple of councillors shows the extent they would have gone in August 2023 to ensure that President Nelson Chamisa’s victory was reversed.

Our lawyers are siezed with this matter and are confident that it will be thrown away as it should because it’s already before a superior court.

We are also engaged on this matter politically to ensure that we continue to defend the rights of Zimbabweans to contest elections and choose leaders of their choice. The right to vote and to be voted for was one of the primary reason of the liberation struggle. We will continue to fight for and to defend this inalienable right.

UNICEF Urges Continued Action, As Zim Scores Major Victory

Harare, Zimbabwe – In a major victory for child protection, Zimbabwe has raised the age of consent for sexual relations to 18 years, criminalizing sexual intercourse between adults and children. The move, lauded by UNICEF, is seen as a crucial step towards curbing the alarmingly high rates of child sexual abuse in the country.

“This new law marks a significant turning point in protecting Zimbabwe’s children,” said UNICEF.

“By criminalizing sex with minors, we send a clear message that such abuse is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

The urgency of this legislation is underscored by the stark reality: over a third of girls in Zimbabwe experience sexual violence before they turn 18, often at the hands of intimate partners.

The consequences of this abuse are far-reaching, impacting victims both physically and psychologically, disrupting their education, triggering mental health issues, and jeopardizing their future prospects.

Early pregnancies, often a result of sexual violence, can trap girls in child marriages and force them to drop out of school, curtailing their potential.

While applauding the new law, UNICEF emphasizes the need for continued efforts beyond legal frameworks. “Prevention and support programs are critical,” emphasizes UNICEF.

“We must invest in awareness campaigns, equip communities to become proactive, and ensure comprehensive support services for survivors.”

Scaling up existing initiatives like the [mention specific government or partner programs] is crucial to provide safe spaces for children, empower them to speak up, and equip adults with the tools to identify and report abuse.

Breaking the silence surrounding child sexual abuse is essential, encouraging communities to take collective responsibility and create an environment where children can thrive free from fear.

“Raising the age of consent is an important step, but it’s not the end,” UNICEF concludes.

“Every child deserves a safe and secure childhood. Let’s work together to make that a reality in Zimbabwe, ensuring that no child experiences the trauma of sexual abuse.”

With the new law in place, Zimbabwe has taken a vital step toward protecting its children.
