Zimbabwe Faces Imminent Power Crisis Amid Crippling Debt at Hwange

By Dorothy Moyo | In a concerning turn of events, Zimbabwe is teetering on the brink of a major power crisis, casting a shadow over government promises of reliable electricity supply. The dire situation has come to light with revelations that the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) is burdened by a staggering debt exceeding US$60 million, stemming from the newly commissioned Hwange Unit 7 & 8 power plants.

Hwange Units 7 & 8, crucial sources have disclosed, were constructed under contracts based in US dollars, with significant private foreign investments fuelling the expansion endeavor. Disturbingly, it has been disclosed that ZETDC is currently purchasing electricity at a rate of US$0.12 per kilowatt-hour, yet selling it to consumers at an average cost of US$0.10 per kilowatt-hour—below the cost of production.

The combined power output of these units stands at 600MW, with the entire project incurring a colossal cost of US$1.5 billion, carried out by Sinohydro Corporation. Importantly, Zesa, the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority, is obligated to pay Sinohydro in foreign currency for Hwange Units 7 & 8, while consumers pay in local currency. This tariff disparity has resulted in unsustainable financial strains, with many consumers, particularly local authorities, unable to meet their obligations.

The situation has the potential to strain relations with Chinese contractors, as payment defaults loom large. Currently, Zimbabwe’s power utility is importing a mere fraction of its previous supply from Mozambique, a decline from 200MW to approximately 10MW, due to outstanding debts. Furthermore, Zambia’s Zesco has ceased the supply of 100MW to Zimbabwe, citing poor contract performance.

The national power utility is grappling with debts exceeding $150 billion from consumers, including local authorities. Analysts argue that a tariff review is imperative to enable ZETDC to secure electricity imports and bridge the alarming supply and demand gap. The current tariff structure is deemed inadequate to support the nation’s economy.

This precarious situation poses a severe threat to Zimbabwe’s social and economic development, as energy is a driving force behind progress. The chronic shortage of a reliable power supply could lead to substantial economic losses.

Energy and Power Development minister Edgar Moyo has acknowledged the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the need to eliminate load shedding. He called for prioritizing productive sectors and transparent communication in the implementation of load shedding schedules, underscoring the urgency of addressing this looming crisis.

Mnangagwa Says: Chamisa Stuck In Past, SADC and ZANU PF Are Now In Future

By Farai D Hove |

Mnangagwa suggests SADC is working with ZANU PF.

Emmerson Mnangagwa has celebrated while hinting that he has everything under control at SADC. Speaking at a party meeting at the weekend, Mnangagwa said his opponent Nelson Chamisa’s call for a re-run is a pipe dream. Zimbabwe and the region( SADC) are moving into the future, he said.

His comments come at a time when SADC election observer mission head, Nevers Mumba refused to reverse his election-rigging/genocide triggering video statement supporting Mnangagwa and Uebert Angel over the continentwide goldmafia funded election-rigging that has destroyed the economies of several African countries since 1992 (Kenya).

His comments also come at a time when it was revealed that Mumba has been his ally since 1996, and as late as Sept 2023, has been collaborating with the disgraced ambassador and ‘prophet’ Uebert Angel.

Analyzing the Excitement and Dangers of Nevers Mumba’s Involvement in Politics.

This following is a history of Nevers Mumba, with a focus on his interactions with Emmerson Mnangagwa. The timeline provided highlights key events in their careers, leading up to the present day in 2023, where Mumba’s actions have raised concerns regarding their impact on regional politics, especially in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Historical Context:
1996 – Joburg Church Conference:
In 1996, a Joburg church conference saw Nevers Mumba and Emmerson Mnangagwa conspiring to gain power in Zambia and Zimbabwe through self-proclaimed personal prophecies. Mnangagwa was represented by his chief prophet, Andrew Wutaunashe. Much if this is seen on function videos plus interviews.

2004 – Demotion and Regret:
Both Mumba and Mnangagwa faced demotion in their respective countries for perceived ambition and rebellion. Zambia’s Levy Mwanawasa, who initially appointed Mumba, reportedly regretted his decision, believing there were more deserving party comrades.

2009 – Mwanawasa’s Assassination:
Mumba’s return to government was a result of the suspected assassination of his rival, Mwanawasa (Mnangagwa accused of orchestarating it). This event marked a significant turning point in their political careers.

2014 – Bouncing Back:
In 2014, Mumba reentered presidential politics and formed alliances with more capable individuals, while Mnangagwa was promoted to Vice Presidency.

2017 – Mnangagwa’s Dismissal:
Mnangagwa was dismissed by Mugabe in 2017 due to perceived ambition and rebellion, continuing the pattern seen throughout his career.

2023 – Controversial SADC Report:
In August 2023, Nevers Mumba’s refusal to retract a video statement claiming sanctions on Zimbabwe raised concerns. This statement potentially endangered his appointer and the entire SADC mission to Zimbabwe’s elections. The video potentially neutralises the soncalled damning SADC report on Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections.

Analysis: The recurring pattern of ambition and rebellion in both Nevers Mumba and Emmerson Mnangagwa’s political careers is evident from childhood to 2023. This behaviour has led to demotions, dismissals, and controversies.

The 2023 incident involving Mumba’s SADC report on Zimbabwe has sparked controversy. While Zambians believe the report is damning, some argue that it is defective and primarily serves Mumba’s interests. Dr. Brilliant Pongo suggests that the findings are not as damning as portrayed and that Mnangagwa’s dramatic reaction has amplified the perception of the report’s severity.

Mumba has been reached for comment since 27th August and has admitted to the Joburg 1996 meeting but said he is not supporting Mnangagwa. SADC was still to comment at the time of writing.

The political trajectories of Nevers Mumba and Emmerson Mnangagwa have been marked by ambition, rebellion, and controversy. The 2023 incident involving Mumba’s SADC report adds another layer of complexity to their history, potentially impacting regional politics. Further analysis and diplomatic efforts may be required to address the ongoing tensions and perceptions surrounding their actions.

British Police Catch Zimbabwean Carer With GBP350,000 Lumpsum Ledger

A Zimbabwean woman, Tecla Bandawe, aged 44, appeared before Birmingham Crown Court on Friday and received a suspended prison sentence after admitting to illegal money lending.

She was caught with a GBP350,000 lumpsum ledger.

The case was prosecuted by the England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT), in collaboration with Birmingham City Council Trading Standards and West Midlands Police.

The court heard that a warrant was executed at Bandawe’s residence on Soho Road, Handsworth, in March this year after allegations were made through the IMLT’s confidential hotline, suggesting she was operating as an illegal money lender. Bandawe, a Zimbabwean national employed as a carer, was found to be part of a WhatsApp group with fellow Zimbabweans, and messages linked her to lending activities.

Prosecutor Mr. Simon Mortimer revealed that starting from 2020, Bandawe had sent over 1,000 separate loans to at least 60 different people, totaling £350,000, despite lacking authorization from the Financial Conduct Authority. She charged interest rates ranging from 10% to 20% on each capital advance, with loan durations typically spanning one to four weeks.

Over the period, Bandawe received over £375,000 in payments into her bank accounts, believed to be loan repayments. Recorder Balraj Bhatia KC noted that the borrowers were financially vulnerable, and the case had crossed the custody threshold. However, he considered Bandawe’s previous good character and guilty plea, sentencing her to eight months in prison suspended for 18 months, with no attached conditions. There were no applications for costs or a confiscation order under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Head of the England Illegal Money Lending Team, Tony Quigley, emphasized the importance of avoiding predatory illegal lenders, urging those in need of affordable credit to consider credit unions as a viable alternative. Councillor Philip Davis, chair of Birmingham City Council’s licensing and public protection committee, echoed these sentiments, stating that illegal money lenders prey on the vulnerable, and the City Council remains committed to working with the national Illegal Money Lending Team to combat this crime.- Agencies

Mnangagwa Caught On Camera With Another Susan Mutami-LookAlike SchoolGirl

By Festus J Kwengwa| WOULD YOU TRUST MNANGAGWA NEAR YOUR CHILD? The following video is of ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa walking off with another schoolgirl who bears a resemblance to the whistleblower Susan Mutami at Chinhoyi High School during the week.

Despite previous warnings about allegations of his involvement with schoolgirls, which gained attention through complaints by Susan Mutami based in Australia last year, school authorities granted Mnangagwa access to the schoolgirl.

In the video, Mnangagwa is seen walking with the (Susami-Mutami body build and complexion) schoolgirl and engaging in a lengthy conversation. However, the exact nature of their discussion remains unestablished.

Susan Mutami’s account suggests that she was approached in a similar manner, leading to a conversation that resulted in an affair.

As of the time of writing, there was no comment from the President, and this report is being updated as more details emerge. Please refresh this page for further information.

Advisory: Protecting Schoolgirls Amidst Allegations of Exploitation by Adults.

In recent events, concerns have arisen regarding the safety and well-being of schoolgirls when exposed to individuals accused of exploitation, even in cases where arrests or formal charges have not yet been made. This advisory report highlights the importance of safeguarding the rights and safety of young students while respecting the principles of justice.

**Background:**
Numerous incidents have come to light in which schoolgirls have been allegedly subjected to inappropriate interactions with adults, including individuals who hold positions of authority or influence. These allegations can have a profound impact on the lives of both the accused and the victims. It is crucial to strike a balance between protecting children and ensuring that individuals are given a fair opportunity to respond to accusations.

**Key Points to Consider:**

1. **Presumption of Innocence:** It is a fundamental principle of justice that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Accusations alone should not result in immediate condemnation or prejudicial treatment.

2. **Child Protection:** Schools and educational institutions have a duty to prioritize the safety and well-being of their students. This includes taking proactive measures to prevent any form of exploitation, harassment, or inappropriate behavior.

3. **Proper Investigation:** In cases of allegations involving schoolchildren and adults, it is essential that allegations are thoroughly and impartially investigated by the appropriate authorities to determine their validity.

4. **Protective Measures:** While investigations are ongoing, schools and authorities should consider protective measures to ensure the continued safety of students. These measures may include temporary restrictions on individuals accused of misconduct pending the outcome of the investigation.

5. **Psychological Support:** Schoolgirls who have been subjected to alleged exploitation should be provided with access to appropriate psychological support and counseling to help them cope with any emotional distress.

6. **Transparency and Accountability:** Authorities, including school administrations, should demonstrate transparency and accountability throughout the investigation process, keeping parents and guardians informed while respecting the privacy of those involved.

**Conclusion:**
The protection of schoolgirls is of paramount importance, and allegations of exploitation must be taken seriously. However, it is equally important to uphold the principles of justice, which include allowing individuals the opportunity to respond to accusations and to be treated fairly throughout the process.

Schools, parents, guardians, and authorities should work collaboratively to strike a balance that ensures the safety and emotional well-being of schoolgirls while respecting the rights of all parties involved. Timely, thorough, and transparent investigations are crucial to achieving this balance.- ZimEye

Mnangagwa Grabs Party Cars From Losing MPs

By- Zanu PF has repossessed cars allocated for the 2023 election campaign to all the party’s losing candidates.

In a directive to all the losing MPs issued bt the party’s secretary general, Obert Mpofu, Zanu PF said

the losing candidates are to return the vehicles, which are top-of-the-range cars such as Toyota Hilux GD6s, Ford Rangers, and Nissan Navaras, to the party headquarters by Wednesday, 4 October 2023, without fail:

“This serves as a directive to all the ZANU-PF parliamentary candidates that participated and did not succeed in the just-ended harmonised elections to surrender the party vehicles that were allocated to them to the Zanu PF party headquarters by Wednesday, 4 October 2023 without fail. This is pursuant to the circular that was issued before, followed by a decision made by the party leadership at the Politburo Meeting held on 28 September 2023. All Provincial Chairpersons are directed to ensure that this directive is implemented without fail. Your cooperation on this matter will be greatly appreciated.”

ZANU-PF secured new campaign cars for its 210 parliamentary candidates before the 2023 elections. The party also paid a US$1,000 nomination fee and all campaign expenses for its candidates. However, 73 ZANU-PF candidates lost the election, and the ruling party is taking no prisoners.

Another bootlicker for Zanu PF

By A Correspondent- The Ziya Cultural Arts Trust trio, led by comedian Sabhuku Vharazipi, has aligned itself with Zanu-PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa, joining a growing list of artists and musicians who have received gifts, including cars and money, for their support of the ruling party.

In a skit video, Vharazipi and his colleagues praised Mnangagwa’s government and controversial businessman Sir Wicknell for gifting artists such as Chief Hwenje and DJ Masomere with luxurious vehicles.

The video caught the attention of Sir Wicknell Chivayo, who pledged to gift the trio with US$10,000 for making the skit.

Critics have accused the trio of being desperate bootlickers seeking gifts from Chivayo.

They join other artists who have received gifts from Chivayo for their support of Mnangagwa’s rule, including Holy Ten, Ricky Fire, and DJ Masomere.

During election campaigns, Zanu-PF enlisted artists to help garner support for the party and Mnangagwa by using their popularity to attract followers.

The government also sponsored a public relations campaign called “The True Zimbabwe Tour,” which brought South African celebrities and journalists to Zimbabwe’s tourism sites and meetings with Mnangagwa as part of an effort to promote the country.

Woman steals from burial society

By A Correspondent- A woman from Bulawayo, Sheila Bhunu (51) of Mzilikazi, has been fined US$200 for stealing money from a burial society that she had been entrusted to safeguard.

The case was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa, who found Bhunu guilty of stealing US$907 from the burial society. As part of her sentence, she was ordered to pay the fine by October 31, and if she fails to do so, she will serve three months in jail.

Additionally, Magistrate Maphosa ordered Bhunu to pay US$892 as compensation to the burial society.

According to prosecutors, in September of the previous year, Bhunu was entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding a cash box belonging to the burial society during a meeting held at Manwele Beer Garden in Mzilikazi.

In her defense, Bhunu admitted to using the money for her family’s expenses.

Robbers “fished” out from Limpopo bridge

By A Correspondent- South African police have removed suspected robbers from Zimbabwe who were hiding under the New Limpopo Bridge in Beitbridge.

The gang of men, believed to be targeting unsuspecting border jumpers and travelers, used ladders placed on the piers of the bridge to access the underside and create their hideout. The hideout was in a section under the bridge usually used for inspecting the structure’s fitness, which is not normally used by the public.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Limpopo, stated that he would provide more details later.

A video recorded by SAPS and South African National Defence Forces members during the raid showed young men being taken out of their hideout. One officer can be heard saying, “These are the maguma-guma (thieves).”

Many Zimbabweans have fallen victim to these robbers, who target individuals avoiding official border crossing points. Some armed robbers also seek refuge in border areas with less police and army visibility.

There have been allegations that Zimbabwean police and army officers are complicit in criminal activities along the banks of the Limpopo River, allowing smugglers to pass through in exchange for a fee. Smugglers reportedly slide down the old bridge on the Zimbabwean side, avoiding the official border crossing, with the assistance of officers who charge R100 per individual.

Cop drags hubby’s lover to court

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo-based policewoman has taken her husband’s alleged lover to court for physically assaulting her and verbally abusing her by calling her a prostitute.

The incident was revealed during proceedings at the Plumtree magistrates’ court last week, where Zanele Ndlovu appeared before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware on charges of assault.

Ndlovu pleaded guilty to the charges and was subsequently fined US$200. She will face two months in jail if she fails to pay the fine.

According to the prosecutor, Voster Makuwerere, the incident occurred on September 20. Ndlovu went to the residence of the policewoman and discovered her in bed with her husband. In a fit of rage, she threw stones into the bedroom to gain entry.

Once inside, Ndlovu physically assaulted the policewoman and verbally abused her, accusing her of being a prostitute who had stolen her husband. Ndlovu justified her actions by claiming that the man had impregnated her before he met the policewoman but had refused to marry her.

“It’s abuse of power”: Kasukuwere

By A Correspondent- Ex-minister Saviour Kasukuwere, barred from running for president, says the Mutapa Sovereign Wealth Fund and a decree by President Mnangagwa exempting nearly 2 dozen companies from public procurement procedures “is a brazen abuse of power” and shows Zanu PF leader “lacks probity”

Below is Kasukuwere’s statement in full:

“30 September 2023 Mnangagwa’s Presidential Decrees Open Door to Massive State Asset Looting The recent renaming of the Sovereign Wealth Fund into the so-called “Mutapa Fund” by presidential decree and the subsequent transfer of select. state enterprises into that fund has shocked many and naturally attracted serious concern regarding the motives behind such a brazen move, especially without the consent of parliament, which is still to convene and is meant to protect the interests of citizens.

Further to that, there is the recent promulgation, again by presidential decree, of a new statutory instrument that seeks to exempt the Mutapa Fund from the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act (Chapter 2223).

There is no debate that public procurement procedures and the disposal of public assets have a profound impact on a nation’s developmental trajectory. Any country that wishes to rnaxirnize benefits from its assets and resources in a responsible manner and is also serious about accountability and transparency, therefore, needs to ensure that it has the appropriate laws, policies, and regulations in place to safeguard such public assets and resources from fraud and abuse.

To protect state resources or assets from abuse, it is critical that there are:

– Comprehensive and binding legal frameworks,
– Effective monitoring and auditing procures to ensure compliance with the regulations,
– Standard terms and conditions of contracts,
– Improved transparency and public availability of rules governing the process.

It is in this spirit that Zimbabwe enact the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets At (Chapter 2223) whose primary purpose is to provide for the control and regulation of procurement and the disposal of public assets to ensure that such procurement and disposal are conducted in a manner that is transparent, fair, honest, cost-effective, and competitive.

Zanu PF Targets Chamisa Harare Mayor, Accuses Him Of Undermining ED

By- Zanu PF is targeting the new CCC Harare Mayor Councillor Ian Makone and accusing him of ignoring the government’s Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meetings.

Zanu PF is also accusing Makone of not recognising the leadership of President Mnangagwa.
The state media reports that TCllr Makoni on Wednesday snubbed a PDC meeting to map way for the development of Harare Metropolitan province by providing adequate service delivery.
The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Chitungwiza Cllr Lovemore Maiko, Epworth Local Board chairperson Cllr Anna Sande and senior officials for the province’s local boards.
Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province Mr Tafadzwa Muguti said Cllr Makone’s behaviour showed that he was anti-development and was not willing to work with Government.
Mr Muguti however, commended the Mayor of Chitungwiza and the chairperson of Epworth for supporting Government initiatives.
“It is very disturbing that the Mayor of the City of Harare has decided not to recognise the office of the Minister of State,” he said.
“He was cordially invited to several meetings now and we have been informed that he is choosing to continue with the political rhetoric and as it is he does not recognise the office of the Minister of State and by extension he does not recognise the office of the President and Cabinet.
“We have also seen comments in their media briefings that he continues to identify the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe as their party president Nelson Chamisa. From us as Government we have been encouraging political appointees to say the time of politics is done when you are elected”.
Mr Muguti said when a person is elected to be a mayor, he or she ceases to be a mayor of the party but a mayor of the people in the city or town they are representing.
“We need to build the country together and when you become a mayor, you are not a mayor of CCC but a mayor of the City of Harare and that is what we have been trying to address but we are also seeing that there are some of them who want to play with mud and they will obviously get dirty,” he said.
“My office is ready to deal with any form of behaviour which basically splits the province into two and we cannot work like that.
“We have been having a wonderful working relationship with the City of Harare and it has been very progressive.
“We do not interfere with their operations but they need to be aligned to the National Development Strategy 1 and that is what these meetings are trying to do, to align to the national Vision 2030. If the City of Harare is choosing not to identify with Vision 2030 and NDS1 and the State coming up with 100-day programmes, it is not aligned to what others are doing, that does not work.”
He said members of the public should know that by-laws were not the laws of the country which were Acts of Parliament. Every by-law is subservient to an Act of Parliament.

Chamisa Harare Mayor Ignores Mnangagwa

Chamisa Aides Challenge Rigged Elections

BY-Two opposition CCC candidates, Bornface Mudzingwa of Bikita East and Leopold Mudisi of Zvishavane-Ngezi have filed petitions at the High Court in Masvingo challenging election results in which the Zimbabwe Electoral Commissioner (ZEC) declared them losers to Zanu PF opponents.

The two have since paid the hefty US$2 000 court fees considered by many as prohibitive. The cases will be heard anytime depending on the petitioners.
According to the results released by ZEC, Mudisi lost to Zanu PF’s Mecky Jaravaza by a small margin of 517 votes (11 607 to 12 124) while Mudzingwa lost to Court Zevezai by 2 336 votes (7 544 votes to 9 880 votes).
Of particular interest in Mudisi’s case is that there is a video of intimidation that will be produced against Jaravaza in Ward 19. It is in that same Ward where Mudisi made a dramatic loss; getting a paltry 10 votes against Jaravaza’s 570. Mudisi appears to attribute his total election loss of 517 to Ward 19.
Both petitioners contend that their opponents were not duly elected and are seeking orders to either declare the process null and void or to declare them winners of the election.
These two are the first reported election petitions coming out of the 2023 harmonized elections held on August 23, 2023, the lowest in many years after CCC declared that the Judiciary is captured and it has no confidence in its judges.
There are two respondents in both court cases; Zanu PF candidates and ZEC.
Both candidates are arguing that the results should be nullified because the elections were neither free nor fair and there are videos and other evidence that will be presented in court.
In the videos Jaravaza allegedly told villagers of voting party procedures that they would follow at polling stations. He also told them that their names would be recorded outside polling stations and they would be given numbers that will match those that they will be given in polling stations. He allegedly said that Zanu PF will be able to trace their votes through those numbers.
Indeed, according to the petition, the villagers found that all that Jaravaza had said was being followed at the polling stations, says the petitioner.
Jaravaza warned the villagers not to play tricks and try to vote CCC because they would be caught.
Mudzingwa alleges that his opponent, Zevezai used intimidation, violence, vote buying, voter suppression, disenfranchisement and threats to force villagers into voting for Zanu PF. There was also a faulty voters’ role. He also alleges that Zanu PF in violation of the law continued to campaign up to the election day and at the polling station in violation of the law and the code of conduct for candidates.
He says a shadowy organization allegedly run by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) had tables at the polling stations and within 300 metres of the stations which is prohibited by the law.
It cites some names of the perpetrators of violence including Zevezai, Zanu PF provincial youth chairperson, Delight Mandebvu of Nyika Growth Point, Tinashe Mufari of Mufari Village Ward 31 Bikita, Albert Mufunda also of Mufari Village, Dunmore Mutsauri of Ward 31 Bikita, Stanley Kupeta of Ward 21 Bikita, Zivanai Nhongo of Ward 31, Chikuku Business Center and Oliver Dzinokuvara of Dzinokuvara Village, Chief Mukanganwi Ward 20. Fugitive Zim Killer Accused Deported to Mozambique

In a stunning twist of fate, Peter Dube, a fugitive killer convicted for immigration law violations in Ireland, has been deported to Mozambique after asserting his Mozambican citizenship. Dube was a wanted man in connection with two fatal shootings and an attempted murder case in Gweru, Zimbabwe, dating back to April 23, 2021.

The 37-year-old fugitive had eluded authorities for the past two years. On that fateful April day, Dube, a car dealer, confronted his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo, and her suspected lover, Shelton Chinhango, another car dealer, who were sitting in a minibus parked in Gweru’s central business district.

In a shocking act, Dube fatally shot Shelton at close range and then turned his gun on Nyasha’s best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe, whom he shot in the chest, resulting in her immediate death. He proceeded to shoot Nyasha and her sister Nyaradzo, who were rushed to the hospital. Following these heinous crimes, Dube reportedly fled the country, initially to South Africa, and later to Eswatini, where he assumed the identity of Xolile Mtsali. From there, he journeyed to Ireland, where he sought asylum.

However, his actions caught the attention of authorities, and he was apprehended in Ireland on June 14 of this year, following an exposé by the Harare Bureau regarding his family’s identity changes in pursuit of asylum. Dube faced charges of violating Ireland’s immigration laws, but during his court appearance, he claimed to be a Mozambican national, presenting an identity document as evidence. His true identity under the alias “Xolile Mtsali” could not be immediately verified.

“He enjoyed the benefit of doubt, as the Zimbabwe authorities took long to prove that Dube was a Zimbabwean. When the documentation was later delivered to the Irish authorities, it was too late as Dube had already been deported to Mozambique. The warrant of arrest request that was issued by Zimbabwe was then overtaken by events, as there was need to prove that Dube was a Zimbabwean national before he could be repatriated back to Zimbabwe. He then took advantage of the red tape in processing the documents and claimed to be Mozambican, since he also had some identification particulars of that country,” sources stated.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), in cooperation with Interpol, is now actively working to extradite Dube from Mozambique back to Zimbabwe. Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed Dube’s presence in Mozambique.

It has come to light that after fleeing Zimbabwe in 2021, Dube became involved with a syndicate specializing in forging fake identity documents in South Africa and Eswatini. Mnangagwa Speaks On Chamisa GNU

By- Zanu PF has said they would not entertain discussions of a rerun, a Government of National Unity (GNU), or a Transitional Authority.

Speaking during the 119th Ordinary Session of the ZANU PF Central Committee in Harare on Saturday, he urged the opposition to respect the will of the people as expressed through the polls.

His remarks come as the opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa, has approached the SADC to pressure Zimbabwe into holding fresh elections, citing irregularities observed during the previous presidential election.

The Observer Missions Highlighted several concerns regarding the 23 August 2023 harmonised elections in Zimbabwe. They observed that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) was criticised for the delayed release of the Voters Roll, as well as the restrictive fee charged for accessing it. They noted that freedom of Assembly was violated with the disruption of opposition rallies by the police. Other issues included concerns over the independence of the Judiciary, allegations of voter intimidation by a group called Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ), controversy surrounding postal voting, and bias of state-owned media against opposition parties, contrary to impartiality requirements.

President Mnangagwa stated that there is no constitutional basis for an election rerun and the government’s focus is on implementing programs to improve the lives of Zimbabweans. Sunday Mail cites him as saying:

The people have granted our revolutionary mass party, ZANU PF, yet another mandate to govern our great motherland, Zimbabwe. This is the reality that the leaders of the opposition, their supporters and their handlers must face.

Entertaining any talk of a rerun, a so-called Government of National Unity, or Transitional Authority is a pipe dream that will never ever happen.

They must wake up from these delusions. The people of our great motherland have spoken; the collective voices must be respected.

Democracy and constitutionalism reign supreme in our country.

President Mnangagwa attributed ZANU PF’s “election success” to unity, hard work, and people-centred policies. He emphasized that the elections were free, fair, peaceful, and transparent, uniting the nation against division and violence. The President condemned the opposition for disregarding constitutionalism and democracy, affirming that Zimbabwe will not become a “banana republic.”

He said the ruling party is now preparing for the National People’s Conference to accelerate policies and projects for improving citizens’ quality of life. President Mnangagwa highlighted achievements in various sectors such as rural industrialization, food security through programs like Pfumvudza/Intwasa, and growth in mining and transport sectors.

Malema Says No Polls In eSwatini

Julius Malema Addresses Media at Siyabonga Rally in Maquassi Hills (video).

In an emotive address to members of the media at the Siyabonga Rally in Ward 03, Maquassi Hills, North West, Julius S. Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), vehemently criticized the situation in eSwatini, where there are no elections, and expressed his concern over the actions of the country’s monarch.

Speaking to journalists, Malema stated, “What is happening in eSwatini is a blatant disregard for the will of the people. There are no elections in eSwatini, and what the king is doing is really undermining the fundamental principles of democracy and human rights.”

Malema went on to highlight the importance of democracy and the right of citizens to choose their leaders through free and fair elections. He emphasized that the situation in eSwatini should be a matter of concern for the international community and called for immediate attention to the issue.

The Siyabonga Rally, which drew a significant gathering of EFF supporters, was marked by Malema’s passionate address, during which he urged solidarity with the people of eSwatini and their quest for democracy. He also called for international pressure to be exerted on eSwatini’s leadership to ensure the protection of human rights and the establishment of a democratic system.

The situation in eSwatini has been a subject of global concern, with reports of protests and government crackdowns on dissenting voices. Malema’s strong stance on the matter at the Siyabonga Rally signals the EFF’s commitment to advocating for democratic values both within South Africa and across its borders.

As the situation in eSwatini continues to unfold, Julius S. Malema’s address at the Siyabonga Rally serves as a powerful statement of solidarity with those seeking political reform and democratic change in the neighboring nation. International observers will be closely watching developments in the region as calls for democracy and human rights gain momentum.-Agencies

Mnangagwa’s Girlfriend Offloads 1000 Title Deeds

By Dorrothy Moyo | At a time when the public is abuzz with revelations of an affair with Emmerson Mnangagwa, Virginia Mabhiza, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, has taken center stage by announcing a groundbreaking housing project in Zimbabwe.

The unveiling of this innovative initiative comes through a state media report that reveals 1000 homeowners in Harare have received title deeds under the Presidential Title Deeds and Settlement Regularization Programme. This program was initiated in April of this year and has now been expanded to encompass more than 1.5 million homeowners across the nation.

Notably, a regional office has been recently inaugurated in Bulawayo province, with plans for additional regional offices to be progressively established.

Mrs. Virginia Mabhiza, who leads the high-level inter-ministerial committee overseeing the regularization of settlements, conveyed the government’s commitment to extending the program’s reach. She stated, “Government is rolling out the Presidential Title Deeds (and Settlement Regularization) Programme in other provinces following its successful launch in Epworth.” She further noted the establishment of a command center, designed as a one-stop shop for processing title deeds, which has already processed around 1,000 title deeds, with 90 percent of recipients already in possession of their documents.

The ambitious initiative aims to grant title deeds to approximately 1.5 million properties, including growth points. Additionally, the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency has completed mapping most of the settlements marked for regularization.

Mrs. Mabhiza emphasized, “The program will cover other suburbs in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Marondera, Bindura, Chinhoyi, Kwekwe, Kadoma, and Masvingo, including growth points.” She highlighted the approval of layout plans and surveys for targeted settlements and the expedited development of water, sewer, and road infrastructure. She concluded by describing the program as a national effort with the potential to unlock significant value for citizens.

Suburbs included in the first phase of mapping encompass Epworth, Eyecourt, Retreat, Caledonia, Hopley in Harare, Gimboki Farm (Mutare), Cowdray Park (Bulawayo), and Victoria Range (Masvingo).

In a separate interview, Housing and Social Amenities Minister Daniel Garwe discussed the progress in regularizing informal settlements, stating, “You are aware that we have got so many informal settlements in towns and cities. They have been paying rentals for almost 40 to 50 years. Essentially, they have bought the houses. So, the title deeds project is starting with those ones. Parallel to that, we are now looking at informal settlements like Caledonia, Epworth, so that, as we provide roads, water, and sewer, we are also providing requisite paperwork, which are title deeds, so that people have security of tenure and economic inclusion.”

As Zimbabwe grapples with both controversy and progress, Virginia Mabhiza’s announcement signals a significant step forward in the nation’s efforts to provide housing security and economic inclusion for its citizens.- state media/additional reporting

Olena Zelenska went on a shopping spree while in NYC, reportedly spent $1.100.000 on Cartier jewelry, store employee have claimed online

By Boukari Ouédraogo| Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Zelensky, reportedly spent $1.100.000 on a shopping trip in NYC while visiting the United States together with her husband to shore up continued support from Washington.

Along with his wife Olena Zelenska, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives in the US

During the visit Zelensky gave his first in-person address to the UN General Assembly, met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and also visited the White house. While Zelensky was blitzing Washington in urgent effort to bolster support for Ukraine, his wife Olena Zelenska was spotted on Fifth Avenue in NYC.

New York’s Fifth Avenue is the city’s most famous shopping street, and probably the most famous shopping street in the world. A lot of prestigious and high-end stores can be found between 49th and 60th Street on Fifth Avenue including Armani, Gucci, Bergdorf Goodman, Harry Winston, Cartier.

Modern day celebrities are often spotted wearing CARTIER pieces: Angelina Jolie, Kylie Jenner, Lupita Nyong’o and … Olena Zelenska. According to our sources, the wife of Ukrainian president is a diehard Cartier enthusiast. Moreover, she has even visited the famous Cartier Mansion during their visit to NYC to address the United Nations General Assembly, and has reportedly spent $1.100.000 on jewelry.

According to the Cartier store ex-employee, Olena Zelenska visited the boutique during her and her husband’s visit to New York. “I tried to take her on a quick tour, but she wasn’t interested,” the ex-employee further recalls.

Zelenska’s visit to the luxury boutique ended up in a very unexpected manner as she snapped at the employee who was trying to assist her with a “Who said I need your opinion?” rant. After that, according to the boutique ex-worker, Zelenska went further to have a discussion with the manager. The ex-worker has no idea what the discussion was about but the next day she got fired from the boutique.

The Cartier Mansion, 653 Fifth Ave.

After receiving a “you’re fired” call the next day after Zelenska’s visit, the ex-employee decided to share her story about the bizarre encounter on the Instagram. She has managed to sneak away a copy of a receipt containing Zelenska’s purchases while packing her personal belongings at the boutique.

Zelenska’s receipt copy

According to the receipt, Zelenska has purchased a white gold bracelet with diamonds, a white gold necklace with diamonds and emeralds, and white gold earrings with diamonds, which totals $1.100.000.

According to Boukari Ouédraogo, who reached out to the ex-employee, she says she wouldn’t have gone public if Zelenska “had just spent all those stolen money and moved forward to the next luxury brand store.” However, the decision of the Ukrainian president’s wife to ruin the girl’s career for no reason has really pissed her off.

She went further to allege that Zelenska has not earned the money she spent at the boutique through some decent and honest work and it has been most likely stolen from the people of her country.

Here is the full recollection of the incident from the boutique ex-employee’s Instagram account:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsKwuE4LlHk

Thanks to Olena Zelenska’s aggressive behavior, her shopping habits went public again. Yes, it’s not the first time the wife of the Ukrainian president was spotted flashing cash in some luxury stores.  In December 2022, for example, she has reportedly spent € 40.000  during her trip to Paris exactly during the time her husband was asking for more financial support from The United States and the European Union.  It seems like her appetite has grown dramatically as the time passed. The question remains if she has managed to spend 1.100.000 dollars in Cartier alone, how much more money has she spent during her whole shopping spree on New York’s Fifth Avenue that day and who paid for it?

Nelson Chamisa Praises Resilient Citizens

By A Correspondent

Overzealous police details literally flooded the ancient city of Masvingo before and during CCC leader Nelson Chamisa’s meeting with citizens on Friday.

Chamisa was in Masvingo for widespread consultations with party members.

In a brief statement after the strategic meeting, Chamisa exhorted citizens to remain vigilant and optimistic after the disputed August 23 polls.

“MASVINGO… Thank you Zimbabwe for walking with us.

You are so resolute! The way to the future is clear! #Godisinit.”

CCC Namibia donates to Maramba Pfungwe Councillor, Taonana Peter!

Zanu PF Hooligans Torch CCC Councillor’s House

28 September 2023.

Following the arson perpetrated by ZANU-PF thugs on a CCC council candidate, Taonana Peter’s house, social democrats in Namibia offered solidarity to the victim. The Vibrant District donated some cash to assist the diligent councilor in rebuilding his burnt house. CCC Namibia believes in shelter as a basic human right enshrined in the supreme law of the land. Going around setting alight opponents’ houses epitomizes illegitimacy and subversion of the will of the people.

Namibia district urges all social transformers to embrace participatory democracy by aiding and supporting those who are victims of politically motivated violence on account of politics. Councillor Taonana Peter has the right to join a political party of his choice. It is now imperative to unite against the abuse of the basic fundamental human rights in Zimbabwe. It is constitutional to represent wards, constituencies, and the country through the ballot. Why is ZANU PF victimizing change champions for believing in the astute leadership of the President, Advocate Nelson Chamisa?

All progressive citizens across the globe must rise in support of change-seekers who are being abused by the unconstitutional government. It is our moral obligation to toe the principle of “injury to one is an injury to all”. CCC Namibia pledges to continue standing not only with Clr Peter Taonana of Maramba Pfungwe but with all and sundry. Right now, CCC polling agents and candidates who participated in the recently held shambolic elections are being arbitrarily arrested, tortured, and abducted by the securocrats across the breadth and lengths of the motherland.

As a district that subscribes to the national democratic revolution, we call upon the citizens to embrace dangerous freedom demanding the rule of law and constitutionalism. Burning someone’s house is criminal and must be resisted with equal measure. The people of Zimbabwe should come and reason together, and speak with one amplified voice advocating for fresh free, fair, and credible elections. SADC and AU need to be complemented through peaceful demonstrations in the country. We can’t be glued on social media complaining with our hands folded.

Whilst our leadership is still mobilizing provinces towards a clarion call to reverse illegitimacy, the diaspora assemblies should lead at various Zimbabwe Houses across the globe putting diplomatic and political pressure on the satanic regime. Citizens in Namibia laud change advocates in the US and the United Kingdom for speaking audibly against rigging by Zec and ZANU PF. CCC Namibia is also planning to hold their protest in Windhoek on a date to be announced.

We are pleading with the host President, Hage Geingob to allow disgruntled citizens resident in Namibia to demonstrate their fury on the day in question. Zimbabweans are sick and tired of selling cockroach poison in the streets of Windhoek. Being a headache across the globe must come to an abrupt end! We deserve better livelihoods as a citizenry. Solidarity! Solidarity! Solidarity! Let’s offer solidarity to all victims of thugocracy and gross abuse of human rights in Zimbabwe.

CCC Namibia encourages more citizens to donate to our victim of arson in Maramba Pfungwe. Please stand to be counted as we confront the diabolical regime. Thank you, interim chairperson Elisha Chambara for leading us! Salutations to the interim chairperson for Rundu Branch Simbarashe Ndoda for pushing us through this revolutionary gesture! We shall remain grateful to our organic and pragmatic Windhoek, Rundu, Northern branches, etc. for contributing towards Clr Peter Taonana.

Namibia district is ready to prosecute the national democratic struggle to its logical conclusion. We shall remain committed and dedicated to the fight for freedom, equality, and justice. We demand justice for Peter Taonana!

LEAKED: ‘Govt Plans to Release Sikhala, But Once He’s Out, He Won’t Live Long from Poisoning’

By A Correspondent | Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ZANU PF party has cracked a plan to quickly release incarcerated former Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala from prison.

“They will quickly release Sikhala, but once he is out, he won’t live long,” an impeccable source told ZimEye.

They suggested this is because of poisoning, shortly before making an unprintable utterance.

Some sources have revealed several other plans to poison the fiery legislator.

The development comes as Sikhala revealed in his latest public letter that there have truly been plotted poison him while he is in prison.

Sikhala was imprisoned following the killing of his client, the CCC mother of two, Moreblessing Ali in May 2022.

He represents Ali’s grieving family, and the arrest has been viewed as a way to silence voices demanding justice for the slain mother…

A comment from ZANU PF could not be obtained at the time of writing. The Prisons authorities were neither vlavailablr, but in the last attempt earlier in the year, a senior ZPS officer’s phone was put down soon after receiving the question.

GNU is not a local herb: excluding Zanu PF would bring spectre of instability.” So hangs the sword of Damocles!

BY: Wilbert Mukori- “GNU is not a local herb!” wrote Jamanda2 in Bulawayo 24.

“The West also made sure there was no third party or parties with which to enter into a governing alliance that would exclude Zanu-PF from post-electoral settlement. Zanu-PF had to be in, to stabilise a post-election Zimbabwe! Such an option which excluded Zanu-PF would bring back the spectre of instability, which the West cannot brook in this highly mineralised teapot country of ours!

“The West’s strategy against Zanu-PF and for a remade Zimbabwe subsists in a graduated electoral murder of the ruling Zanu-PF! As happened in post-Kabila DRC where the current President entered weak but became stronger once inside, and in the fullness of governing time.

“You understand that, then you reach political epiphany in respect of what was and remains planned for us by the West, both in the 2023 harmonised polls and electoral years to come. The notion of GNU is very much the West’s thing; it is not the local medicine or herb to Zimbabwe’s riven and polarised politics!”

The threat that Zanu PF will make Zimbabwe ungovernable if the party does not get its way has hang on the nation like the sword of Damocles since 1980! Zanu PF’s campaign strategy in 1980 was that if the party did not win the election the bush war would continue. The party had the guns and the manpower to carryout its threat and the nation knew that. The people voted to end the bush war not knowing they had lost their right to peace.

In 1983, Zanu PF launched the now infamous Gukurahundi massacre for the sole purpose of coercing PF Zapu, the party’s main political challenger, to give up its independent identity and join Zanu PF. After fours years of relentless persecution and over 20 000 died PF Zapu relented and signed the December 1987 Unity Accord clearing the way for the imposition of the de facto one-party, Zanu PF, dictatorship that has ruled the nation with an iron fist to this day.

The nearest, Zanu PF has ever come to losing its iron grip on power was during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when Mugabe and Zanu PF were forced to share power with the two MDC factions led by Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara. Mugabe was cunning enough to make sure the MDC leaders were afforded all the trappings of high office; the ministerial limos, the generous salaries and allowances, US$4 million mansion for Save himself, etc., etc. With their snouts in the feeding trough, the MDC leaders completely forgot that their primary purpose in the GNU was to implement the democratic reforms and dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship.

MDC leaders failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU!Worst of all; Zanu PF contrived to allow the opposition to win a few gravy train seats so that post the 2013 GNU the de facto Zanu PF dictatorship was cloaked is a multi-party facade. The few gravy train seats was to entice the opposition to participate in the flawed elections no matter how flawed the process got. It worked like a charm!

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

After the 2018 elections, Mnangagwa sweetened the opposition bait by introducing POLAD, a superfluous body of losing presidential candidates who are rewarded with US$ 60 000 twin cab truck and other freebies. All they have to do is publicly endorse the rigged elections as free, fair and credible and entice more to participate in future rat races. He had to introduce a US$ 20 000 nomination free for presidential candidates just to stop the flood of POLAD claimants!

There were 11 presidential candidates in the 23 August 2023 rat race. The top two garnered 52.6% and 44% of the votes and the remaining 9 share 5.4%.

I dare say Zanu PF was taken completely by surprise by the SADC and AU election observer teams’ reports that condemned the 23 August 2023 election process as a farce. In the past the regional and continental bodies had taken the clue from Zimbabwe’s opposition parties’ enthusiastic participation as an excuse for rubber stamping the rigged elections.

SADC is yet to decide what to do with Zimbabwe, the regional body knows that it cannot sweep the damning SADC and AU election reports under the carpet. Another GNU is on the offing and the regime is reminding us all of the sharp sword dangling precariously over the nation!

Zimbabwe is a failed state precisely because the nation has failed to hold free, fair and credible elections for the last 43 years and was stuck with the vote rigging Zanu PF de facto one party dictatorship. We had the opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and we wasted it. We have a second bite at the cherry, we must make this count.

If Zanu PF is allowed to play a major role in the new GNU then we can be certain that most of the democratic reforms will never be implemented. Never! We must not allow Zanu PF hold the nation to ransom and waste this second chance!

Fresh details emerge on Rio Zim plane crash

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has provided additional information regarding the Rio Zim plane crash in Zvemahande, Mashava, Masvingo province.

According to police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the crash resulted in the death of six individuals.

In a statement, Nyathi said police will release further details as they become available. Read the statement:

PLANE CRASH IN ZVEMAHANDE AREA, MASHAVA

The Zimbabwe Republic Police reports a plane crush which occurred on the 29th September 2023 between 0730 hours and 0800 hours where six people are confirmed dead. The Murowa Diamond Company (RioZim) owned white and red Zcam aircraft had left Harare for the mine at 0600 hours and crushed about six kilometres from Mashava. The victims are two Zimbabweans and four foreign nationals.

More information will be released in due course.

Preliminary results from the investigation suggest that the plane had a mechanical fault.

Locals reported hearing a loud sound and witnessing the plane circling before it tragically fell from the sky. The aftermath was disturbing, with body parts hanging from branches and chunks of flesh on the ground. Based on the discovery of seven pairs of shoes, it was estimated that seven individuals had died in the crash.

A CID officer at the scene said the area’s network would remain down until Civil Aviation authorities arrived. The weather conditions at the crash site were unclear, but it was misty and foggy in the Masvingo area.

The Rio Zim plane was en route from Harare to Murowa Diamonds when the incident happened, potentially due to a mechanical fault. Rio Zim is a prominent mining company in Zimbabwe involved in extracting gold, diamonds, and chrome.

ED protects state owned firms from public scrutiny

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken steps to protect selected state-owned companies operating under the Mutapa Investment Fund (MIF) from public procurement regulations.

Mnangagwa officially announced Statutory Instrument 156 of 2023, which renames the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) as the Mutapa Investment Fund and consolidates multiple state-owned enterprises under one entity.

The creation of this fund has been promoted by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube since 2018, arguing that the scattered parastatals under various ministries are an outdated model that other countries are moving away from.

Under this new arrangement, approximately 20 enterprises spanning mining, telecommunications, energy, and agriculture will come under the ownership of the Mutapa Investment Fund.

However, less than a week after the renaming, President Mnangagwa issued a statement specifying that companies under the fund would no longer be subject to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act (PPDPA).

This order was published under General Notice 1546 of 2023, following the provisions of PPDPA Section 3 (9), which allows the President, in consultation with the Authority, to exempt specific public entities from the Act under certain conditions.

The order stated, “And whereas the public entity below mentioned is operating in competitive markets and accordingly needs to be prescribed for the purposes of exemption by virtue of Section 3 (9) abovementioned.

“Now therefore, under and by virtue of powers vested in the President as aforesaid, I do hereby give notice that the public entity mentioned below is exempted from the application of the Act.”

These developments have sparked debate among market observers. Some support the initiative, believing it will give state-owned firms the opportunity to operate more effectively and comply with regulations under a single authority, potentially eliminating past instances of political interference and corruption.

However, others express concerns about the lack of taxpayer oversight and fear that the changes could lead to potential abuse by a select group of well-connected individuals.

“Zanu PF is too strong for SADC”: Mzembi

Zimbabwe’s former Tourism minister, Walter Mzembi has said he has observed from the 27 September 2023 SADC Troika Meeting that Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU PF, is too strong for the region.

The meeting, chaired by President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, discussed Zimbabwe’s 23 August 2023 disputed elections, which received criticism from regional and international observers. President Mnangagwa maintained that the elections were free and fair, but SADC, AU, and EU disagreed, citing shortcomings in meeting standards.

Leaders from Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania attended the meeting.

Mzembi expressed concerns about the SADC meeting, noting that the regional bloc may not solve Zimbabwe’s political deadlock as expected by some stakeholders including the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). The party led by Nelson Chamisa approached SADC in a bid to push for fresh elections. He said:

A deputation of representation by the President of Namibia (Hage Geingob) and (Samia Hassan Suluhu), of Tanzania, completing the Troika chaired by (Hakainde Hichilema), of Zambia is not a good sign for those reading too much into an anticipated SADC solution. Hichilema chairing Vice Presidents and officials means a downgrade of Zimbabwe Polls issue to a routine report.

ZANU PF is too strong for the Region and its abrasive gunboat Zanufication diplomacy has seen even seemingly bigger brothers turning into its “errand boys” twisted by anti-sanctions solidarity.

Mzembi also noted that President Mnangagwa’s visit to President Hage Geingob of Namibia may have worked to strengthen relations amongst liberation parties in SADC.

He also said the strategy employed by ZANU PF and its allies in SADC is to buy time and hope the election dispute fades away and may prevail without fresh impetus from the people. Mzembi also noted that a business-as-usual approach in Parliament and Government may contribute to moving past the issue of the disputed elections.

He added that the non-performing economy will continue to remind people of the disputed elections and if or when ZANU PF resolves the economic challenges, the ruling party will gain performance legitimacy.

Mzembi also said Zimbabweans cannot rely solely on SADC to resolve their disputes, therefore, since renewed pressure from the people is unlikely, the matter is likely to fade away.

He added that overcoming repression requires resources, courage, and a new nationalist approach dismissing the need to seek foreign solutions. He said homemade solutions are needed to provide relief from the constraints of self-serving past liberators.

Miss Universe Zimbabwe opens up

Reigning Miss Universe Zimbabwe first princess Nokutenda Shekinah Marumbwa has rubbished claims that she does mimic famous South African model Zozibini “Zozi” Tunzi.

Marumbwa was among the final 12 models who were vying for the crown that landed on Brooke Bruk Jackson’s head. After the pageant, the 20-year-old model attracted some backlash as some social media users accused her of imitating Zozi from hairstyle to responding to questions.

Although she confessed her love for Zozi, Marumbwa, a student at University of Zambia said her hairstyle was, however, not inspired by Zozi, but her mother.

She told NewsDay Weekender that her similarities with Zozi were just mere coincidence as she already had some of the traits being likened to the South African model.

Impersonation

I love Zozi so much and have much respect for her. The fact that people say I look like Zozi is so flattering. People must know that even though she serves as my role model, I am not trying to impersonate her.

My own mother, Mrs Marumbwa, is my source of inspiration for the hairstyle. I cut my hair short because I saw how lovely my mother looked with short hair growing up and I did so long before Zozi made an appearance on the Miss Universe stage.

I tried plaiting my hair for a few months, but it did not feel like me and I felt more confidence in my haircut, hence the style.

If it’s about the onstage answer, I and Zozi’s answers might have sounded alike because we both stand for similar principles.

I have my own unique story which I shared on my social media platforms long before Zozi debuted on the Miss Universe stage.

When I decided I wanted to become a model at the age of eight, I already had body positivity and activism on the forefront of my mind. I was not there to emulate anyone, rather I was there to be myself and reflect my own distinct viewpoint and journey.

Of Zozi’s inspiration

I was not imitating Zozi during the Miss Universe Zimbabwe pageant. Zozi is my role model. Her journey from a small South African hamlet to the title of Miss Universe is an amazing story of tenacity and realising ambitions, demonstrating to young girls that everything is achievable with effort and willpower.

Zozi exudes confidence and embraces her natural beauty, inspiring young women to love themselves for who they are and be comfortable in their own skin.

She is intelligent and well-spoken which is empowering and attractive.

 Becoming first princess

Being a contestant at the pageant was a special experience for me. It was an unforgettable experience that filled me with pride and a strong sense of purpose. Becoming the first princess at the Miss Universe Zimbabwe made me realise how teamwork and the support from family played a big role in my success.

It made me realise how much power we all possess to realise our ambitions. Also becoming the first princess at the pageant served as a motivation of how extraordinary things can be accomplished with the help of family and friends. I am so grateful for this chance to uplift, inspire others and make a positive impact in society. I can hardly contain my thankfulness.

I anticipated that participating in the pageant would be a transformative experience. My expectations were to gain a deeper understanding of myself, my strengths and my ability to effect change in the world.

Most of all, I expected to have a joyful, adventurous and educative experience. While I am truly grateful for the first princess title, I acknowledge that the judges had a challenging decision to make as every contestant put in a tremendous effort and performed admirably.

I trust the judges expertise in their decision-making process. They knew what they were looking for and what they thought was good.

Life after Miss Universe Zim

My goals are to take part in projects that empower women. So after the Miss Universe Zimbabwe pageant, I am eager to dive into such initiatives, body positivity and the cultivation of a positive mindset which I believe is one of the most important resources for success. These causes are close to my heart and I am dedicated to creating lasting change.

Venturing into modelling

My modelling career has been incredible. I started my modelling journey last year in September. Surprisingly, September 16 will be a day I will remember since this same day in both 2022 and 2023 saw me winning first princess titles in different pageants.

I entered Miss University of Zambia as my first competition in my life and on September 16, 2022, I was adjudged the first runner-up at the pageant. I was chosen to represent the university at the Queen of Zambia pageant (a pageant competition for university students).

I was subsequently crowned Queen of Zambia despite being the youngest contestant, the one with the most obstacles and the one with the least modelling experience. All I did was pray, have faith in myself, think positively, and put in a lot of effort. Also, I was named Miss Universe Zimbabwe’s first princess on September 16 this year, which is such an honour.

Parents role

My parents were the backbone of my success. The most powerful push towards my success has been my parents. They have been extremely supportive since day one even though life is tough, they have been making sure they provide for both my academic needs and modelling career needs.

Body shaming

I was bullied because of my looks and physical appearance when I was young. As a little girl, (seven years), I was constantly laughed at and called names for being skinny and not very pretty.

This hurt me so bad even though I laughed it off to avoid being called a cry-baby. At one time when I cried to my mother about the bullying I was facing, she comforted me with a few words in which I grabbed the phrase kumodelling kunodiwa vanhu vakaonda. (modelling is for the slenders). From that day onwards, I decided to make what people considered my weakness, my strength and since then I grew this passion to speak against body shaming. I know how much it hurts when you are laughed at because of how you look, it diminished my self-esteem. I could not reach my full potential and I felt devalued.

Desires

My goal is to empower and inspire ladies who are facing the same challenge and help them realise that it is not about what is on the outside, but the power that lies within you.Through having a positive mindset and unwavering self-belief, one can get to where he or she wants to be regardless of what society says, social status, what you look like or how old you are,” she said.

Modelling as an escape route

I use modelling as an escape route from the challenges I face. I saw modelling as the perfect platform to advocate the causes close to my heart. I am not from a rich background, but the support my parents have provided me even though they struggle to make ends meet keeps me going. I want to make them proud. I will keep on keeping on until I get there.

Titles

Miss University of Zambia (First Runner-Up 2022), Queen of Zambia (2022) and Miss Universe Zimbabwe (First Runner-Up 2023).

CCC candidates petition court over election outcome

Bornface Mudzingwa of Bikita East and Leopold Mudisi of Zvishavane-Ngezi, both candidates representing the CCC, have submitted petitions to the High Court in Masvingo challenging the election results. In these results, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commissioner (ZEC) declared them as losers to their Zanu PF opponents.

It’s worth noting that these two candidates have already paid the substantial court fees amounting to US$2,000, which many consider as discouragingly high. The court will schedule hearings for these petitions at their discretion.

According to the official results released by ZEC, Mudisi narrowly lost to Zanu PF’s Mecky Jaravaza by a margin of just 517 votes (11,607 to 12,124). Meanwhile, Mudzingwa lost to Court Zevezai by a wider margin of 2,336 votes (7,544 votes to 9,880 votes).

Of particular significance in Mudisi’s case is the existence of a video showing alleged intimidation by Jaravaza in Ward 19. Coincidentally, Mudisi received only 10 votes in the same Ward, compared to Jaravaza’s 570 votes. Mudisi seems to attribute his overall loss of 517 votes to the situation in Ward 19.

Both petitioners assert that their opponents were not legitimately elected and are seeking court orders to either invalidate the electoral process entirely or to declare themselves as the rightful winners of the election.

These two petitions are the first reported instances stemming from the 2023 harmonized elections that occurred on August 23, 2023. This represents a marked decrease in the number of petitions compared to previous years. The CCC has expressed a lack of confidence in the judiciary, accusing it of being influenced by external forces.

In both court cases, there are two respondents: the Zanu PF candidates and ZEC. Both candidates argue that the election results should be nullified due to allegations of irregularities and unfairness. They plan to present videos and other evidence in court.

In the videos, Jaravaza is alleged to have informed villagers about the voting procedures to be followed at polling stations. He reportedly stated that their names would be recorded outside polling stations, and they would be assigned numbers that would correspond to those inside the polling stations. He allegedly claimed that Zanu PF would be able to trace their votes using these numbers.

According to the petitioner, the villagers subsequently found that Jaravaza’s instructions were indeed being followed at the polling stations. Jaravaza allegedly warned the villagers not to attempt to vote for CCC, suggesting that they would be caught if they did so.

Mudzingwa alleges that his opponent, Zevezai, used various tactics such as intimidation, violence, vote buying, voter suppression, disenfranchisement, and threats to coerce villagers into voting for Zanu PF. He also claims that there were issues with the voter’s roll. Additionally, he alleges that Zanu PF violated the law by campaigning up to and on the election day, both inside and near polling stations, in contravention of election regulations.

Furthermore, Mudzingwa asserts that a shadowy organization allegedly linked to the Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) had a presence at polling stations and within 300 meters of the stations, which is prohibited by law. He identifies certain individuals as perpetrators of violence in his petition.

Gweru man strangles 1yr old step daughter

A 47 year old man stands accused of fatally strangling his one-year-old stepdaughter yesterday morning while his mother was away fetching water from a nearby borehole, in a horrifying incident that has left the residents of Gweru deeply shocked.

The alleged crime unfolded at residence number 720 in Mkoba 4, a suburb of Gweru.

According to Mr. Tinei Machaka, a neighbor, the unsettling incident began when they were awakened around 5 am by the piercing screams of Lian Phiri (35), the mother of the now-deceased Keila Tshuma.

“We were in our slumber when we were startled by Phiri’s anguished cries, prompting us to rush to her house, where we found her clutching her lifeless baby, accusing her husband of strangling the child to death,” he recounted.

Mr. Machaka further explained that a passing police officer, who had just finished his night shift, was alerted to the commotion, leading to the immediate apprehension of the alleged perpetrator, Itai Tichagwa.

“The informant is the biological mother of the deceased child, while the accused is the stepfather. The three of them resided together at house number 720 in Mkoba 4, Gweru,” stated the police in an official release.

According to law enforcement, the events unfolded as follows: around 5 am that morning, Phiri, her husband, and the deceased’s half-brother Joseph (5) were reportedly sleeping in their rented room.

Phiri left to fetch water at a nearby borehole, leaving the now-deceased and her half-brother in the care of the accused. At that time, the child appeared healthy and showed no signs of illness,” the police stated.

Shortly after Phiri’s departure, Tichagwa allegedly sent Joseph out to purchase matches and instructed him not to return until he had procured them.

“Phiri returned hours later to find Tichagwa holding the now-deceased, instructing her to breastfeed the child,” as per the police statement.

Phiri is said to have discovered her daughter in great distress, and she began screaming, alerting neighbors to her husband’s alleged crime.

“The loud cries from the informant reached the ears of a patrolling police officer, who promptly apprehended the accused and alerted ZRP Mkoba,” the police reported.

Officers from Mkoba 1 station were called to the scene, where they found the deceased child lying on her back, covered with a bedsheet.

“The child’s neck exhibited significant mobility, suggesting a possible act of strangulation,” the statement read.

Police further disclosed that Tichagwa allegedly confessed to the murder of his stepdaughter.

T Freddy Curses Chamisa Led Harare City Council For Demolishing His House

By James Gwati- The founder and leader of Goodness and Mercy Ministries, Prophet Tapiwa Freddy, has denounced the CCC-led Harare City Council for demolishing his house and said that he would hold prayers for that.

Freddy’s house was demolished Thursday by Harare City Council.

In April 2020, the Harare City Council also demolished Freddy’s church in Glenview’s high-density suburb, saying it was built on land acquired illegally.

Freddy said he would hold an all-night prayer for the demolished house.

Giving the reasons for the demolition, Harare deputy mayor Cllr Kudzai Kadzombe (CCC) Thursday said it was in response to a petition by residents who said the council allocated the houses without doing due diligence on a road in 2017.

Posting on X, Kadzombe also said the City of Harare will allocate new stands to the affected residents as well as construct houses for them, with council covering all expenses including sourcing building materials. She said:
We have received inquiries about why Prophet T Freddy’s house and 5 others were demolished today. This was a result of a residents’ petition as these houses were allocated by council without doing due diligence on a road in 2017 and it blocked school children and other residents, Who had to use a longer and dangerous route to go to school and work etc.
.

The affected families are in the process of being reallocated new stands and their houses constructed and materials supplied by the City of Harare builders at no cost to the victims.
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to the Glenview community and the affected families.
Kadzombe, however, did not disclose where the demolished houses were located. Harare City Council has, in the past few years, been destroying houses and structures built on land acquired illegally.

Below are T Freddy’s words After the demolition of his house:

Today is a challenging day for me as my residential house has been demolished. It’s a distressing situation, especially considering that six years ago, the Harare City Council legally allocated me a residential stand in Glen View. I followed all the necessary regulations and paperwork to build a small house that I could afford.
Unfortunately, this is not the only hardship I’ve faced . Our church was also demolished 2 years ago, marking the second time I’ve been directly affected by such an event. In the face of these difficulties, I turn to prayer and encourage my fellow church members not to lose heart.
Despite the setbacks, I remain steadfast in my faith and trust that there is a reason why God allows such things to happen. Today, even with my house demolished, I will continue to hold on to my unwavering belief in Him. Furthermore, I am determined to persevere and move forward. That is why I invite everyone to join us tomorrow friday ,29 september at our Night of Revival (pungwe!), which will take place at our new premises located at the corner of High Glen Road and Mushayabhande Road in Glen Norah B, Harare.
So, today may bring challenges, but it also presents an opportunity for renewal and strength. I am resolved to find solace and comfort in my faith, knowing that God has a plan for me, my home, and my church.

Tuckshops “haunt” large scale retailers

Large-scale retailers in Zimbabwe are struggling to remain viable due to competition from “tuck shops”, informal shops that sell exclusively in US dollars and do not pay taxes to the government.

According to one of the country’s biggest retail chains, OK Zimbabwe, unregulated informal shops now dominate the retail space.

While larger supermarkets are full of goods, customers prefer to buy products from tuckshops which offer competitive prices compared to supermarkets.

Big supermarkets are forced by the government to price their stock using the official exchange rate, making their prices exorbitant in US dollars.

Added to that, larger supermarkets also pay taxes, rates, and other regulatory fees.

Manufacturers and suppliers now sell their goods directly to informal traders who pay in USD upfront.

OK Zimbabwe, which has over 60 outlets nationwide, says most supermarkets battling for survival.

In a press advertorial for its “DollarDeal” promotion, which seeks to drive sales by offering customers bargain deals for US$1, OK Zimbabwe said:

It has been an interesting watch as perhaps; most formal retailers now are battling for survival. The rise of the unregulated informal operators, who are mostly arbitraging, has caused more headaches than good for the formal guys like OK Zimbabwe, TM Pick n Pay, Gain Cash & Carry and so many more. This has created a whole new spate of dangerously unhealthy competition.

… In instances where some are paying taxes, some are not. Where some are using the regulated bank exchange rate, some are not, hence causing artificial or distorted price points in the stores.

The informal retailer is infamously using the black-market rate and marks the same products downwards causing “forced death” on the formal retailer.

The retail chain urged the Government to create a level playing field to enable the formal retailer to survive through policy intervention.

It warned that failure to create a level playing field will result in company closures and the loss of jobs.

Meet Farai Juliet Magada- the woman pestered by suspended ZBC boss Robson Mhandu

Farai Juliet Magada
Farai Juliet Magada

The ZBC has suspended its director of radio services Robson Mhandu after he demanded sex from a female presenter in order to approve her transfer request from Bulawayo to Harare.

Mhandu, who has over two decades at the ZBC on and off, told Farai Juliet Magada, also known as Farie Jules, that she needed to “motivate me by work and number two, the obvious… it’s a combination of the two.”

“Tell me if you don’t want to do it and you’ll go back to Bulawayo,” Mhandu told Magada in an audio recording of their meeting in his office at Pockets Hill.

Two audio recordings of 18 minutes and 3 minutes, as well as 14 screenshots of WhatsApp messages, were shared with ZimLive by ZBC insiders.

When Magada asked Mhandu if her transfer should depend on sex, he told her that “we don’t seperate the two.”

“I will send you to Bulawayo, I have the power,” he threatened.

Mhandu is also heard telling Magada that his sexual demands are “the practical realities of life.”

And then in a string of WhatsApp messages, each punctuated with a peppering of seemingly meaningless emojis but always featuring a lion – his totem – Mhandu referred to Magada as his wife, declaring: “In our tradition one mustn’t give their woman space. Shumba (lion) is a military management animal, no letting go, never ever.”

Magada asked Mhandu if giving him sexual favours guaranteed her transfer, and he responded: “It’s one million percent guaranteed… Remember you moved from Khulumani FM to Classic 263 on my signature MaMoyo. Your talk of guarantees is purely a sign of disrespect from a typical Zimbabwean woman.”

Mhandu variously called Magada “honey,” “darling” and “sweetheart” as he kept pestering her for sex on WhatsApp.

In their meeting, Mhandu appeared concerned about Magada’s workrate, even declaring that he did not believe she should be at ZBC.

“At ZBC, as a typical top management technocrat, can I say this person really deserves to get paid? You don’t. You’re being paid because I’m there for you, you’re protected for which you’re not appreciating, you’re asking me silly questions like you did this morning,” Mhandu is heard saying.

“I just don’t talk about being a lion, I am a lion and my business is to kill. This is me. It’s loud and clear. Do the right things right. You can’t separate the two.”

When Magada finally tells him, on WhatsApp, that “I am not going to sleep with you for you to sign my papers,” a furious Mhandu responded: “Case closed, no further discussion on this issue. It’s now work and work. SIMPLE.”

Sexual harassment in the media industry was on the agenda on Wednesday as information minister Jenfan Muswere attended a workshop in Harare where industry players were crafting a common policy to guide all media workers.

Muswere said: “I heard a presentation made by one female who has encountered sexual harassment in the newsroom, it was heartbreaking.
“It’s in this context that the government views sexual harassment as a violation of human rights, it affects everyone.”

Mhandu, in the years he left the ZBC, worked at tax collector ZIMRA and the Zimbabwe Open University’s public relations departments where similar allegations followed him.

ZBC CEO Adelaide Chikunguru told ZimLive she was “not aware” of Mhandu’s suspension.

“She’s lying,” one ZBC insider said. “She has always thought Mhandu wants her job, she’s careful not to be seen as instigating his downfall.”

Even in the face of damning evidence, ZimLive understands Mhandu is determined to fight the sexual harassment charge at an internal disciplinary hearing next month.

When approached for comment, Mhandu asked to be called back in 15 minutes, after which his phone repeatedly rang unanswered.

ZBC workers who spoke to ZimLive said Mhandu had an extensive history of demanding sex from female subordinates.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg. The ZBC should actually be conducting a wider inquiry, led by an independent panel. What they will find is a sickening sexual bullying culture that has permeated the organisation for many years,” one employee said, asking not to be named.

Chinese Couple Bodies Found In Harare Dam

The bodies of (35) and Chi Lifen (30), a Chinese couple that has been missing since 2020, were found in drums in an Eastview dam in Harare on Thursday.
After visiting a friend in Highlands, Harare, the two went missing on Valentine’s Day.
The investigation was launched when the duo’s white Mercedes Benz ML was found abandoned along Acturus Road with the keys still in the ignition.

The couple’s friends and relatives offered a reward of ZWL$1 million in 2020 for information regarding the couple’s whereabouts. The Zimbabwe Republic Police CID Homicide and Interpol collaborated to find the couple.
The couple’s vehicle was later found parked along Arcturus Road, with the keys inside, but their firearm and destination remained unknown.
Zimbabwean investigators, with assistance from Chinese authorities, eventually made a breakthrough in the case after recovering Ding’s mobile phone. They used it to reconstruct the couple’s final hours, which included a visit to their friend Xu Lin Lin.
Xu Lin Lin and his associate, Luo Yengshen, were tracked and located by Chinese law enforcement. They then implicated another Chinese national, Chen Long, who was arrested in Harare in May. Despite initially withholding information, Chen Long eventually revealed the location of the couple’s bodies.
Divers discovered the remains of Lei Ding and Chi Lifen in drums at the Eastview dam. Xu Lin Lin and Luo Yengshen are expected to be extradited from China to face charges of kidnapping and murder.

Plane Crash Kills Six In Masvingo

By- At least six people have died in a Rio Zim plane crash in the Zvamahande area of Mashava, Masvingo, making it the second plane crash for Rio Zim this year.

The first one happened in Beatrice early this year. The plane was carrying diamonds.

Pindula News reports that the scene was gruesome, with body parts scattered and stuck to debris. The online news portal said due to the severe damage, it was challenging to determine the exact number of passengers on board. The discovery of seven pairs of shoes made some conclude that seven people had died in the crash. Said the news portal:

According to locals, they heard an extremely loud sound, and the plane was seen circling in the air before it tragically fell from the sky. The aftermath was gruesome, with body parts hanging from branches, large chunks of flesh on the ground, and some even stuck to the debris.

Determining the exact number of passengers on the plane was challenging. Sadly, there was nothing left intact of them. Based on the recovered pair of shoes, the estimate stood at seven individuals. A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer present at the scene said the network in the area was expected to remain down until Civil Aviation authorities arrived and informed the president.

we observed that body parts, if we can call them that, were being collected in bin liners.

It was misty and foggy in the Masvingo area this morning, although we unsure if the same weather conditions prevailed at the crash site at the time of the crash.

Furthermore, we learned from the locals that the plane took off much earlier than its usual departure time of around 9 a.m. On this fateful day, it departed at approximately 7 a.m.

The Rio Zim plane was en route from Harare to Murowa Diamonds when the tragic incident occurred. The investigation is ongoing, but initial reports indicate that the plane experienced a mechanical fault.

Rio Zim is a mining company based in Zimbabwe. It is one of the largest mining companies in the country and is involved in the extraction and production of various minerals, including gold, diamonds, and chrome. The company operates several mines and has interests in different mining projects across the Midlands, Masvingo, and Mashonaland Central provinces.

Drinking Almost Ends In Tragedy For Plumtree Man Who Nearly Loses Testicles

A Plumtree man nearly lost his testicles while on a drinking spree after being stabbed by fellow imbibers at a local bottlestore in Madabe village.

Bethwell Ngwenya of Tshitshi village in Madabe has his ‘tools’ nearly cut off by Courage Debwe (22) and Trymore Mpofu (20) all of Madabe village in Plumtree.

The two appeared before Plumtree magistrate’s court Mr Joshua Nembaware facing charges of assault on Thursday.

While appearing for the state, Mr Voster Makuwerere told the court that on 10 September the accused were drinking beer at Bright Bottle Store where they started assaulting fellow patrons using flick knives.

‘At around 2130hrs,the first accused person produced a flip knife and ordered everyone in the bottle store to lie down. The second accused person connived with the first accused person and stood by the door and also holding a flip knife’, said Mr Makuwerere.

It is further alleged that while trying to escape, Ngwenya panicked and forced himself at the door where he was stabbed him once on the upper back and once on the testicles by Trymore.

As a result Ngwenya sustained a deep wound on the back and his scrotum was cut open exposing his testicles.

The duo were remanded in custody to 10 October 2023.

Mzembi Gives Up On Fighting Zanu PF, Says SADC Too Weak

ZANU PF has proved to be too strong for SADC, the former Minister of Tourism Dr Walter Mzembi has admitted.

Speaking on his X handle last night, Dr Mzembi said the Liberation movements in the region seem to have won the day and there is little hope left for the opposition amid their electoral griviences on the just country ended elections.

“ZANUPF is too strong for the Region and its abrasive gun boat Zanufication diplomacy has seen even seemingly bigger brothers turning into its ” errand boys ” twisted by anti sanctions solidarity”, wrote Mzembi.

He added that the SADC report on Zimbabwe elections was now stale and having the President of Zambia chairing deputy Presidents of other organs of Troika indicated the lack of interests from the region.

” A deputation of representation by President of Namibia @hagegeingob and
@SuluhuSamia of Tanzania completing the Troika chaired by @Hichilema
of Zambia is not good sign for those reading too much into an anticipated SADC solution. @HHichilema chairing Vice Presidents and officials means a downgrade of Zimbabwe Polls issue to a routine report. Liberation Parties solidarity may have won the day in the charm offensive led by @edmnangagwa himself in New York”, added Mzembi.

The opposition parties had hoped that the SADC report was their only arsenal to solve the election griviences but it all remains a dream in the pipe.

Terrence Mukupe Renews Fight Against Goromonzi Farmers

Zanu-PF central committee member and former Finance deputy minister, Terence Mukupe, has once again initiated efforts to remove more than 40 farmers from Mt Olympus Chishawasha B Farm in Goromonzi, where he intends to establish a housing scheme.

These A1 farmers have resided on the farm for over two decades, with most of them possessing government offer letters. On Wednesday, the farmers, who also support Zanu-PF, gathered at the farm, singing and chanting slogans to resist eviction when Mukupe dispatched land clearing equipment.

Mukupe claims that the land is designated for urban expansion and said that they have all the necessary paperwork. He mentioned that they have offered compensation, suggesting the construction of four-roomed houses or providing cash to affected farmers.

In a letter addressed to the farmers, Mukupe’s lawyers, Chingeya-Mandizira Legal Practitioners, informed them of the planned subdivision of the area for residential development. They stated that all required permits for the development had been obtained from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.

The lawyers assured the farmers that those affected would receive compensation through an alternative piece of planned land or accommodation.

Some of the affected farmers have expressed their displeasure, and a Zanu-PF delegation led by the provincial party chairperson is expected to visit Chishawasha to resolve the situation.

Goromonzi North legislator Ozias Bvute mentioned that the farmers possess legal documents from the Lands ministry, while Mukupe has documents from the Local Government ministry, creating confusion. He hopes for a favorable resolution for the farmers.

The Chishawasha communal lands have been targeted by land barons for the allocation of residential stands. Farmtel Investments and other companies reportedly belonging to political figures received portions of the 2,848.77ha farm in 2016.

Mukupe previously attempted to evict the farmers in 2019 but was unsuccessful due to intervention by Zanu-PF officials.

Manunure High School Student Dies In Collapsed Mine Shaft

A 17-year-old boy who was in form four at Manunure High in Kwekwe died after a mine shaft he was extracting gold ore from collapsed on Wednesday.

His body was retrieved yesterday afternoon by rescue teams from the Mines and Mining Development Ministry and the Civil Protection Unit.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said he was still gathering details about the incident.

Clerk In The Dock For Defrauding Employer Of US$17 000

A cashbook clerk employed by National Foods Limited has been brought before the Harare magistrates’ court, facing allegations of defrauding his employer to the tune of US$17,000. The case was represented by Bhoki Nyambo.

The accused, Cale Sibanda (57), appeared before Magistrate Dennis Mangosi this week and was granted bail of US$200, with a remand date set for October 10 after the State agreed to the bail request.

According to prosecutor Zebidiah Bofu, between August 2022 and June this year, Sibanda allegedly deceived his superiors by deliberately excluding his name from petty cash expense schedules and stock take allowances. After receiving management approval for these payments, he would then manipulate electronic records to add his name and that of an accomplice, Nyarai Gumberu, along with their MyCash account numbers.

Subsequently, Sibanda allegedly sent payment instructions to MyCash. Upon discovering these fraudulent activities, National Foods confronted Sibanda and invited him to provide an explanation. Instead, Sibanda chose to resign immediately. Nyambo reported the incident to the police, leading to Sibanda’s arrest. National Foods incurred losses of US$17,783, and no funds were recovered.

ZINARA Tells Local Authorities Off

THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) maintained this week that local authorities must report to government if they are unhappy with the way it was disbursing funding for road rehabilitation.

Amid an outcry over the way Zinara has been disbursing funding, one local authority last year described its allocation formula as a ‘formula from hell’.

Zinara chief executive officer Nkosinathi Ncube told Zimbabwe Independent this week that there were well laid out avenues of settling such disputes.

“We are on record saying if there are some road authorities that are not happy with the formula they can engage both the Ministry of Local Government and Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development,” Ncube said.

He said the current formula being used by Zinara benefits larger cities more than rural councils.

“We are aware that a handful of urban authorities would have preferred a different formula as they believe that this would benefit their residents more,” Ncube said.

“However, the facts are that the current formula does benefit larger cities more than they do rural councils.

“Zinara uses a scientific formula that was endorsed by all the road authorities before implementation and we are constantly explaining this formula to road authorities at various workshops for the benefit of new engineers and personnel in these road authorities,” he said.

Early this year, former Harare mayor Jacob Mafume accused Zinara of using a “concoction of bone throwing mathematics in disbursing funds”.

“We have over one million vehicles registered in Harare and we expect that if those cars were paying in US dollars per quarter, that is US$30 million. So we expect Zinara to just take an administration fee and remit the US$29 million back to Harare.”

Mafume said the parastatal was using money meant to rehabilitate roads in Harare for other local authorities.

Zinara’s mandate is to fix, collect and disburse road user charges and mobilise revenue for roads development and maintenance.

In Bulawayo, councillors have accused the government of being complicit in the continued deterioration of roads, saying nothing much was being done.

Harare City Council spokesperson Hope Chizuzu said: “What is key is that the little amounts disbursements are like a drop in the ocean (compared to) what is required for Harare.

“The state of our roads, which is worsened by increased volumes of cars, requires huge capital investment, but Zinara is not looking to providing enough of that”.

Chamisa Emphasizes Need For Dialogue Based On Mutual Respect

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), led by Nelson Chamisa, emphasized the importance of establishing an equitable platform for dialogue based on trust and mutual respect among participants as the sole assurance of a stable political future. Last year, the CCC attempted, albeit unsuccessfully, to engage with southern African leaders in an effort to facilitate dialogue with the ruling Zanu-PF party, with the aim of addressing the country’s political and economic crises leading up to last month’s elections.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the opposition party underscored the significance of dialogue in resolving the nation’s political crisis, provided that it is conducted on a foundation of truth, respect for democratic principles, and adherence to established electoral standards. The CCC maintained that without acknowledging and rectifying electoral irregularities, any dialogue would lack the necessary credibility and integrity.

Chamisa has previously emphasized the need for genuine dialogue among political parties as a prerequisite for lasting peace in Zimbabwe.

The CCC also called for respect for individuals’ rights to express their opinions, regardless of their political, religious, or cultural affiliations. While the recent elections were disputed, the party stressed the importance of impartial observers’ findings that cited numerous irregularities and concluded that the elections did not meet domestic and foreign electoral standards.

The CCC urged all stakeholders, including religious, political, business, and community leaders, as well as citizens, to recognize the concerns raised by local, regional, continental, and international observers. They called for accountability and transparency, fundamental elements of any credible democratic process.

Political analysts have noted the desire for dialogue to resolve the political impasse in Zimbabwe but highlighted the need for clear parameters to guide the process. While consensus exists on the need for dialogue, defining its scope and objectives remains a challenge. The involvement of an independent mediator may be necessary to facilitate productive dialogue.

ZBC Boss Send Packing Over Sexual Harassment

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has suspended its Director of Radio Services, Robson Mhandu, following allegations that he demanded sexual favors from a female presenter, Farai Juliet Magada, as a condition for approving her transfer request from Bulawayo to Harare.

In an audio recording of their meeting at his office, Mhandu told Magada that she needed to “motivate me by work and number two, the obvious… it’s a combination of the two.” He further threatened to send her back to Bulawayo if she refused.

The recordings and WhatsApp messages were shared with ZimLive by ZBC insiders. Mhandu persistently referred to Magada as “honey,” “darling,” and “sweetheart” in WhatsApp messages as he continued to pressure her for sexual favors.

In response to Magada’s question about whether her transfer depended on sex, Mhandu stated, “It’s one million percent guaranteed… Remember you moved from Khulumani FM to Classic 263 on my signature MaMoyo. Your talk of guarantees is purely a sign of disrespect from a typical Zimbabwean woman.”

Sexual harassment allegations against Mhandu have reportedly followed him throughout his career, including during his time at the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) and the Zimbabwe Open University’s public relations departments.

ZBC CEO Adelaide Chikunguru claimed she was “not aware” of Mhandu’s suspension, but insiders suggest she may be downplaying the situation due to internal politics.

Mhandu, despite the evidence against him, reportedly intends to challenge the sexual harassment charge during an internal disciplinary hearing next month.

The case has drawn attention to the issue of sexual harassment in the media industry, with Zimbabwe’s information minister, Jenfan Muswere, acknowledging it as a violation of human rights during a recent workshop on the topic.

Sanyati Man Nabbed While Selling Stolen Goat

The police have apprehended a man who was allegedly in the process of selling his neighbor’s goat, which had been stolen.

According to a police statement, the incident of livestock theft took place in Sanyati on September 25th.

The statement reads, “Isaac Mupandawana (29) has been arrested by Sanyati police in connection with a stock theft case that occurred on September 25, 2023, at Chiridzangoma Village 3, Neuso. The incident involved the theft of a goat. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to sell the stolen goat in the Sunrise location on September 26, 2023.”

ZIMSTAT Boss Caged

Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) Director General, Taguma Mahonde who was arrested on Tuesday, will spend the weekend behind bars after he was remanded in custody to Monday during his court appearance this Thursday.

Mahonde is facing charges of corruption and corporate misconduct after he allegedly claimed school fees for a non-existent child.

Acting on Mahonde’s memos, Zimstat is said to have paid fees for three children instead of two, with the fees having been credited to Mahonde’s bank account instead of a school account.

Mahonde also stands accused of obstructing the course of justice after he dismissed ZIMSTAT Head of Audit, Mr Claudious Matiza who was assisting the police with the investigations.

No Poll Re-run: Mnangagwa

ZANU PF President and First Secretary, Emmerson Mnangagwa says the opposition and its sympathisers must stop dreaming of a poll re-run, as the election season is now a closed chapter.

As he addressed the ZANU PF Politburo at the party’s headquarters in Harare this Thursday, President Mnangagwa said focus should now be directed towards accelerating economic growth.

“Today we meet on the background of my return from the 78h Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which was a resounding success, Our ongoing engagement and re-engagement drive is equally bearing fruit, with a number of strategic investments and partnerships having been discussed during the side-line meetings.

“May I reiterate that, under ZANU PF, Zimbabwe is open for business. To this end, we continue to welcome investors, including our citizens in the diaspora, to take up the various opportunities, which Zimbabwe has to offer,” said the President.

President Mnangagwa said during the General Assembly, Zimbabwe received support and solidarity in the call for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the illegal sanctions.

“In this regard, we are grateful to progressive nations and institutions of the world, including our comrades from the Southern African region, who called for the removal of the illegal sanctions,” he said.

He emphasised that the opposition must not remain stuck in the past with its futile calls for an election re-run.

“Now that the elections are behind us, we should not be distracted by the leader of the main opposition who remains stuck in the past, while both Zimbabwe and the region are moving into the future. His call for an election re-run is a pipe dream, the earlier he realises that, the better for himself and his opposition Party.”

He said in rolling out the Party and Government programmes under the Second Term of the Second Republic, the party remains guided by the philosophy, “Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo”.

Struggle Is For Tough Cadres – Wiwa

Dear Zimbabweans and my Worldwide friends:

I write to all of you after my almost 16 months of incarceration in the Hitlerian concentration camp of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison. I am under political persecution by the regime in Zimbabwe. I did not commit any crime. I am not a criminal, I will never be one and no one will create one out of me. I am a political prisoner, persecuted for being an opponent to the regime.

I write to you in different circumstances. When I was arrested on the 14th of June 2022, I was the Member of Parliament for the good people of Zengeza West. 16 months down the line, as per the desires and wishes of my persecutors, I am displaced. Congratulations to them for achieving, the political profit they wanted. At the time of my arrest, I was running a very successful law practice in Chitungwiza. I am advised that my law offices have been shut down and ruined. In their illusory thoughts, they think I will count losses, and in their tradition of thoughtlessness, they are making comical antics and inebriated postures.

Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe said, “True leadership demands complete subjugation of self, absolute honesty, integrity and uprightness of character, courage and fearlessness and above all, a consuming love one’s people”.

Professor Arthur Mutambara goes further to teach us that, “you can influence and change reality without official or formal power, and yet you can have the position of authority while having no influence or impact”.

It must be known that a leader must not have a delicate skin. I told myself that if I truly believe for what I am suffering for, that is, the cause of the downtrodden, as symbolized by Moreblessing Ali, I must be prepared to suffer or even to die for the principles and beliefs. I will not accept anything or anyone to change my principles. Since boyhood, it was naturally inherent in me, to give a voice to the downtrodden and more importantly, protect their rights against the scourge of abuse of power by those in leadership positions.

When I was thrown into Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, some good soul, from the National Intelligence Systems, whispered to me that, it was long planned, that I must be thrown into prison for a long time to teach me a lesson, of who wields power in Zimbabwe. I quickly notified myself that surviving prison, calls for immense reserves of mental strength. I had to arm myself with those things that enhanced my inner stability and discarded everything that might weaken me. I became hardened. I started reading voraciously, books that sustained me and internalized where I read about the lives of others who were once in similar position with my new station in life, whose connective theme is the human struggle and triumph against insurmountable ordeals. In my reading, I came across the truth by James Baldwin, who told me that, “Force does not work the way its advocates seem to think it does. It does not reveal to the victim the strength of his adversary. On the contrary, it reveals the weaknesses, even the panic of his adversary, and this revelation invests the victim with patience. Furthermore, it is fatal to create too many victims”.

Imprisonment, murder, poisoning, torturing and the use of terror and violence as instruments of political organization by unpopular regimes, is the weakest and most unsophisticated weapons and methods used against political opponents. It depicts cowardice and desperation. When I was tipped last year in December, dear Zimbabweans and my worldwide friends, about the plot to assassinate me through poisoning, I did not linger. No one will grow horns. I only informed my family, my lawyers, selected political leaders and friendly embassies. I was and still prepared to suffer martyrdom for the sake of freedom of our oppressed masses. There are several men and women who walked the road of pain and scars collected as the ultimate prize of pursing the truth and justice. I am prepared to suffer for my principles.

In the state of affairs in our country, one must take sides. Either you are sincerely with the downtrodden masses of our people or you are on the side of the oppressor. The moment has come to choose. The masses of our people have been reduced to destitute members of society. We have been pauperized with unmatched increasing misery. Can anyone please tell me the reasons why I am in jail?

Prison, a place intended to be a punishment, became the most valuable college for me. It became the place I discovered and understand myself and many things. It is the place I was able to think, discover and reflect on many things including my relations with certain persons, who on the daylight behave like angels, but are profound witches at night. Like Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi, who portrayed Nelson Mandela as a friend and publicly called for his release, but behind the scenes condemned the Release Mandela Campaign as a gimmick and privately warned the apartheid military establishment that, Mandela was the most dangerous threat to national security and national stability and that it would be irresponsible to let him out. The same script was being played by our own Bishop Abel Tendekai Muzorewa in Rhodesia. Pretending to be holding an anointed scepter, roaming around the four corners of Zimbabwe, from East to West, from the South to the North, he was publicly denouncing the incarceration of the nationalist leaders, but privately he was telling the Rhodesian kingpin, Ian Douglas Smith, not to dare release Joshua Nkomo, Robert Mugabe and other nationalist leaders as they were terrorists and a danger to national security.

The character of someone is measured by facing up to swelling difficult situation. Let it be known that I am a man who would never ever breakdown even under the most trying circumstances. Martin Luther King Jnr taught me, “if a man hasn’t found something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live”.

Under the barrage of attack from your immortal enemies, never be surprised that when you look behind, you will realise that you are by yourself and those who attempt to stand in solidarity with you come under attack, blackmail and humiliation, from the angels of the daytime but profound witches of the night. Only true friends and strong characters remain steadfast with you, while opportunists melt like morning dews.

That’s the character of an insincere struggle. Those who were attacked and humiliated in my name, let me reassure you, that you have found a special place in my heart. Your solid personality is immeasurable and shall ever be remembered. Solid fraternal brotherhood, in the environment of our opportunistic struggle, like the one we have today, where selfishness and deception are the order of the day is a rare golden characteristic of individuals.

In the world where some don’t stand on principle but chasing after opportunity, and along the way in chase of opportunity distort private conversations and expose their disordered nerves. Those in desperate pursuit of opportunity invented stories using my name to ingratiate themselves to the unstable and intended recipient to flower their limitations. Be advised that I know everything that happened and was said about me and caused sorrows and tears to many who became victims in my name. My heart bleeds and my eyes tear ceaseless by that several people were humiliated after they have been labelled Job Sikhala sympathizers. Blackmailing is the art of foolishness through distorting someone’s name for the purpose of opportunism.

Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart, to all those who are standing with me in Zimbabwe and worldwide. Your love is recorded and will never be forgotten. I was stunned with the swift response of love after the visit by my children here in prison bidding me farewell back to school, in tears that I haven’t paid their school fees and that they were going back to school without supplementary needs. I warned them that tears are not good under whatever circumstances.

Rather they must thank God, to have a father, who afforded them education at good schools at the time when I was not deprived of my responsibilities to fend for them through incarceration. There are children of victims of oppression in memory history who became angry at their fathers for being incarcerated for a cause. I told them that Nelson Mandela’s children suffered untold poverty and humiliation in the hands of his oppressors until God raised good men and women who ameliorated their misery, so they must brace for the worst and that they must start to disabuse their mindset from thinking that the situation is till the same.

Swiftly, my good lawyer Harrison Nkomo, despite having spent hundreds of hours representing me for free on the Moreblessing Ali cases, paid fees for my two daughters at boarding schools. Honourable David Coltart through the Family Trust paid Fidel’s fees. Honourable Rusty Markham, my new Member of Parliament for my new domicile, Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, came on board with some significant contributions to my other son’s school fees who is doing ‘A’ level. Such love is not taken for granted. It is a mark that will live forever in my heart. I thank you brothers. I also would like to thank all those who helped my family during my difficult times.

The greatness of man and women is seen by what they say and do for others during times of trials and tribulations. If need be, I will direct my wife to sell every property of ours to the last spoon to sustain my family during the period of my incarceration occasioned by my oppressors. It is foolish for anyone to underestimate my inner resolve to suffer any consequences for the cause I am standing for. I did not commit any crime. I am a subject of tyrannical oppression because of my political beliefs that will never be changed by anyone even under the threat of a gun pointed on my head.

Pray for me, pray for Zimbabwe, I love you all!!!!!!!!

OPENING REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT AND ZANU PF FIRST SECRETARY CDE E.D MNANGAGWA AT THE ZANU PF 372nd ORDINARY SESSION OF THE POLITBURO

Live at ZANUPF HQ

President of Zimbabwe Cde ED Mnangagwa

We are here to discuss the setting up of programs like the upcoming National People’s Conference, and the 2023 to 2024 cropping season. We seat here after a resounding victory that saw me coming back. We continue with the re-engagement policy which is bearing fruit. I met a group of business man yesterday from N. Richards. They said 96% of their goods are produced in Zimbabwe. Brick by brick and product by product we are mordenizing Zimbabwe. We are going to have Central Committee meeting this Saturday. Lets move forward not like the leader of the opposition who remains in the past and wants an election re-run.

Both Zimbabwe and the region are moving into the future. His call for an election re-run is a pipe dream, the earlier he realises that, the better for himself and his opposition Party.

Comrades in rolling out the Party and Government programmes under this Second Term of the Second Republic, we remain guided by the philosophy, “Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo.”

I, therefore, once again call upon the Politburo and the leadership of the Party, across every level, to continue deploying their individual and collective effort for the successful implementation of people centred programmes and projects.

In addition, efforts to consolidate national and household food security, unity, peace, love and harmony should continue to take root across our country’s ten provinces.

ZANU PF Leaks Plan to Asset Strip Govt Companies

By Farai D Hove | Barely a month after the 2023 elections, the ZANU PF party has unveiled a controversial plan to potentially asset strip a number of government parastatal companies, according to reports by the ZimEye news network. This move has sent shockwaves throughout Zimbabwe, as it raises concerns about the fate of critical state-owned enterprises.

The ZimEye news network reveals the list of companies affected by this plan. The list includes:

  1. Defold Mine (Private) Limited – Registration Number 6030/2015
  2. Zimbabwe United Passenger Company Limited – Registration Number 504/1980
  3. Kuvimba Mining House (Private) Limited – Registration Number 13291/2020
  4. Silo Investments (Private) Limited – Registration Number 3460/1992
  5. National Oil Company of Zimbabwe (Private) Limited – Registration Number 531/1983
  6. Cold Storage Commission Limited – Registration Number 716/1995
  7. Petrotrade (Private) Limited – Registration Number 5608/2010
  8. POSB – People’s Own Savings Bank
  9. Netone Cellular (Private) Limited – Registration Number 2225/2000
  10. National Railways Holding Zimbabwe – Registration Number 10057/1998
  11. Tel-One Private Limited – Registration Number 4658/2000

This revelation has ignited a firestorm of debate and criticism, with many including the Pachedu group questioning the motives behind such a move. Government parastatal companies are vital to the nation’s infrastructure and economy, and any significant changes to their ownership or operations are bound to have far-reaching consequences.

The plan, known as the “Fourth Schedule (Section 14 (4)) Vesting of Shares of Certain Companies in Mutapa Investment Fund,” has drawn widespread condemnation from opposition parties, civil society organizations, and concerned citizens. Critics argue that the move could lead to the looting of valuable national assets, potentially harming the country’s economic stability.

ZANU PF has yet to provide detailed explanations for this plan, leaving many unanswered questions about the fate of these parastatal companies and the potential impact on Zimbabwe’s future. The government’s response to these allegations is eagerly awaited as the nation watches closely to see how this situation unfolds.

This controversial development raises significant concerns about transparency, accountability, and the protection of national assets. As the story continues to develop, Zimbabweans are left to grapple with the uncertainty of what lies ahead for these vital state-owned enterprises.

President Chamisa Pushes For Fresh Polls

Tinashe Sambiri

CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa says Zimbabwe needs fresh polls following the disputed August 23, 2023 general elections.

Addressing party members in Mutare on Thursday, President Chamisa described the August 23 polls as chaotic, rigged and unconstitutional.

Below is a summary of the CCC leader’s speech in Mutare…

President @nelsonchamisa carried on with his nationwide citizens interface tour in Manicaland province. The message he delivered to the citizens of Manicaland was clear:

  1. The recently conducted elections did not adhere to the constitution and electoral laws of Zimbabwe, thus rendering them null and void.
  2. Zimbabwe should conduct new elections that are free, credible, transparent, and overseen by a fresh, credible, and independent electoral body, rather than ZEC.
  3. A transitional government that can create a suitable environment for conducting credible elections must be established.

Wiwa : Struggle Continues

Pray for me, pray for Zimbabwe, I love you all!

Form Your Own Party, Chamisa Tells Career Politicians In His Party

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has advised career politicians within his party to form their own if not happy with his leadership style.

Addressing CCC Mashonaland East provincial members at Mbuya Nehanda Hall in Marondera on Wednesday, Chamisa said his party was not a home for career politicians.

“Those who want positions, let me say, form your own party. No one is ever going to form a party stronger than this (CCC),” he said.

The firebrand politician is currently on a nationwide tour meeting provincial executives, receiving reports on the just-ended harmonised elections.

Chamisa has since disputed the August 23 to 24 election result that saw Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa being declared the winner. The opposition movement said the elections were stolen and is pushing for fresh polls.

Chamisa has been accused of sidelining party bigwigs opting for young activists.

“Leading a nation is not about studying books, it is about studying the hearts of the citizens. We are not here for opportunists.

“We are an organised citizens’ movement. We are guided by the citizens. If you had a post in the MDC, it has nothing to do with the current set-up,” he said.

Chamisa said he was not losing sleep over the holding of an elective congress for the party.

“We are not moved about the congress issue, we are not in a rush. We are aware that they think CCC is a structure-less party. If we are a structure-less party, how did we elect mayors, councillors and MPs? If you go to Goromonzi or South Africa, you will see leaders there,” said Chamisa.

Chamisa, who according to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) garnered 44% of the presidential votes against Mnangagwa’s 52,6%, admitted that it was not easy to defeat Zanu PF.

“It was not easy to defeat Zanu PF, they had State institutions support like Zec and army. There was FAZ (Forever Associates Zimbabwe) and they had traditional leaders as the party commissars. The good thing is that, with all that, we won the election,” he said.

According to the Sadc Election Observer Mission report, Zimbabwe elections did not meet local, regional and international standards hence were not free, credible and fair.

Chamisa told the delegates that even if SADC fails to intervene, God will intervene.

T Freddy Holds Prayer For His Demolished House

By James Gwati- Prophet Tapiwa Freddy, founder and leader of Goodness and Mercy Ministries, has called for a night prayer for his demolished house.

Freddy’s house was demolished Thursday by Harare City Council.

In April 2020, the Harare City Council also demolished Freddy’s church in Glenview’s high-density suburb, saying it was built on land acquired illegally.

Freddy said he would today Friday hold an all-night prayer for the demolished house.

Giving the reasons for the demolition, Harare deputy mayor Cllr Kudzai Kadzombe Thursday said it was in response to a petition by residents who said the council allocated the houses without doing due diligence on a road in 2017.

Cost Of Living Goes Up, As Mnangagwa Fails To Rig The Economy

By- The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) has announced that the country’s cost of living has gone up, with the Total Consumption Poverty Line rising by 4.8% in September which means that it now costs ZWL$95,462.53 (equivalent to US$17.7) for a person to meet their basic needs.

NewsDay reports citing statistics from ZimStat saying the increase is mainly due to the Zimbabwe dollar losing value compared to the US dollar, causing prices to rise continuously.

During the period under review, the Zimbabwe dollar depreciated by around 18% and 23% on official and parallel foreign currency markets respectively. As a result, businesses and service providers are adjusting their prices to keep up with the currency’s decline. ZimStat said:

The Food Poverty Line (FPL) in September 2023 rose by 3,9% to $73, 235,85 from $70, 460,81 in August 2023. The Total Consumption Poverty Line for Zimbabwe was $95,462,53 per person in September 2023 representing an increase of 4,8% when compared to the August 2023 figure of $91,063,30.

The major drivers of the September 2023 month-on-month inflation rate of 1,0% were food and non-alcoholic beverages (0,33%) and education (0,25%) and communication (0,15%).

ZimSat also noted that:

– In September 2023, the inflation rate increased by 2.3% compared to August 2023, reaching 1.0%.

– This means that prices, on average, went up by 1.0% between August and September 2023.

– When comparing prices between September 2022 and September 2023, there was an average increase of 18.4%.

– Education had the highest increase in prices within a month, with a rate of 6.0%.

– Communication also saw a significant increase in prices, with a rate of 5.8%.

ZimStat also noted a change in the method of calculating inflation, using a geometric aggregation method due to 80% of transactions being in US dollars.

Economist Yona Menon Banda attributes the rising inflation in Zimbabwe to the weakening local currency. He explains that retailers are continuously adjusting prices to maintain their earnings.

The government took several measures to tackle inflation and stabilise the macroeconomy and Zimbabwe dollar including reducing the amount of money available in the economy and making fees and taxes payable in the local currency. These measures initially helped slow down the rate of inflation for a few months. However, recently, the value of the Zimbabwe dollar has started to decrease again compared to the United States Dollar.

Mnangagwa Illegitimacy Under Spotlight

By Dr Mzembi Walter Mzembi

So the @SADC OMR is on the Agenda of the Troika they will decide which direction it follows from there but it simply cant be swept under the carpet.

A Presidency derives its legitimacy from voters , but even more importantly from endorsers who include those who did not vote for you ordinarily referred to as consensual legitimacy , then endorsers of processes , that is Observer Missions. Why invite them in the first place if their opinion is not important? But even more important is the Regional Guidelines on Elections themselves an extension of founding charters & treaties domesticated under our laws therefore part of our laws . A Country cannot simply ignore these and move along as if it’s business as usual. Therefore despite all pretense we saw how the President himself went on a charm offensive in New York to get his position understood . It is important for legitimacy without which a country limps along for the next five years instead of optimally serving its people .

The SADC OMR is not the enemy of Zimbabwe , it is infact an opportunity to unite the country by addressing all its pointers and recommendations that run contra to a free , fair and credible election , itself the basis of electoral legitimacy .

I conclude by restating that submitting to Peer Review is not a weakness it is infact a strength !

ZRP Clears Drax Delish Nguwaya to Collect Over $60 Million of Unnecessary COVID-19 Materials

By A Correspondent | Harare, September 28, 2023 – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has officially cleared Mr. Delish Nguwaya, the director of Drax Consult Sagl, to collect COVID-19 materials valued at over sixty million US dollars, as ruled by the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. The decision comes after thorough investigations and legal proceedings that have drawn substantial public attention.

In an official statement issued today, the Zimbabwe Republic Police addressed the matter:

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has taken note of the media and public’s inquiries on the arrest of Dilesh Nguwaya of Drax Consult Sagl and wishes to set the record straight on the matter. The Police conducted thorough investigations and duly submitted the docket to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe for consideration. Whilst the docket was still at the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe made a pronouncement (Judgment number SC 66/23 and Civil Appeal number 173/22) and found that the contract between NATPHARM and Drax Consult Sagl was valid. This judgment was subsequently placed before the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe.”

The decision to clear Mr. Nguwaya was based on the following key factors:

  1. Supreme Court Validity Judgment: The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe ruled that the contract between NATPHARM and Drax Consult Sagl was valid.
  2. Lack of Criminal Evidence: The authorities found no evidence of criminal conduct by Drax Consult Sagl, Delish Nguwaya, or NATPHARM in relation to the contract in question.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe declined to prosecute Delish Nguwaya on the charges of contravening Section 136 (Fraud) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9:23.

Furthermore, both the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe and the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe have determined that the funds paid to Drax Consult Sagl by the Treasury are clean and should be paid to the company for the medicines that were delivered and utilized by various medical facilities in the country.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police emphasized that there are currently no criminal investigations pending against Delish Nguwaya, bringing this high-profile case to a close.

This development marks a significant legal victory for Drax Consult Sagl and Delish Nguwaya, while also addressing public concerns surrounding the COVID-19 materials procurement contract. The decision is expected to have far-reaching implications in the ongoing fight against the pandemic in Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa Family Covid Tender Corruption Runner Escapes Jail

By- President Emmerson Mnangagwa family’s Covid-19 tender corruption runner Dilesh Nguwaya and his fake company Drax Consult Sagl have been cleared of fraud charges in a case in which they flouted procurement regulations.

In 2020, the media was awash with stories of Nguwaya having flouted procurement regulations and NATPHAM for supplying pharmaceutical sundries.

But surprisingly, the courts have since found no evidence linking Nguwaya to the case, saying the contract between the two parties was above board.
ZRP Spokesperson, Paul Nyathi said, “The police has taken note of the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe and National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe decision on the fact that the money that was paid to Drax Consult Sagl by Treasury had been cleared and deemed clean money which should be paid to Drax Consult Sagl for the medicines which were delivered and consumed by various medical facilities in the country.”
During the initial stages of his trial, Nguwaya, through his legal representative, submitted that all the allegations were meant to taint the businessman and are part of a smear campaign against his person and partners.
In a statement, the National Prosecution Authority, which has been handling the matter, has since declined to prosecute as a result of the clarity in the contract, a development which confirms that no criminal investigation or pending docket is being held against Nguwaya.

Harare Magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo said the State should proceed by way of summons.

It was alleged that between September 2021 and November last year, DJ Levels and Shashl were in a love relationship.

Disgusting Business Of Genital Mutilation On Africans In Europe

By Nomazulu Thata | How many young lives must be lost before we acknowledge the profound evil of female genital mutilation (FGM) among African girls? FGM is a grim reality that begins in infancy, affecting countless girls both in Africa and Europe. This clandestine and lucrative trade is a criminal offense in Europe and some African nations. Yet, it persists, even evolving to evade detection.

Origins of FGM in African Communities:
The origins of female genital cutting remain unclear. Some suggest it dates back to ancient Egypt (now Sudan) and the Middle East, brought to the African continent through Arab slave trade and the spread of Islam. Today, this practice is deeply ingrained in Sub-Saharan African communities. Shockingly, nine out of ten women in Chad, Burkina Faso, and Mali have undergone FGM. Approximately 30 African countries still engage in FGM practices, and it’s not limited to Sahel regions.

The Persistence of FGM:
Prominent advocate Fadumo Korn of Munich asserts that FGM has persisted for approximately 5000 years. Its eradication demands global efforts from both African and European stakeholders. Sadly, the continuity of FGM is driven by the very mothers perpetuating this tradition and the determination of experienced “grandmothers” who profit from it. These “grandmothers” are even covertly sent as tourists to European countries to perform FGM on girls brought from across Europe.

The Cultural Justification:
In African societies, FGM is primarily employed to control female sexuality. Uncut women are unjustly stigmatized as dishonorable, akin to prostitutes. This practice has evolved into a deeply entrenched cultural norm, signifying a girl’s beauty and cleanliness. The consequences of FGM include chronic pain, excessive bleeding, infections, infertility, psychological trauma, and even higher risks during childbirth.

UN-Women’s Perspective:
UN-Women condemns FGM as one of the most vicious manifestations of patriarchy. It violates fundamental human rights and inflicts lifelong physical and mental harm on women and girls. African countries are signatories to international conventions, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child and CEDAW, which expressly forbid FGM.

Challenges in Eradicating FGM:
Despite global condemnation, FGM continues unabated in many African societies. The practice is upheld by influential older women and faces political obstacles. Even female politicians who openly denounce FGM fear losing elections. Women’s organizations fighting against FGM often struggle to secure the necessary resources. The culture of silence further complicates efforts, as FGM is shrouded in secrecy.

FGM in Europe:
In Europe, some African women seek asylum to protect their daughters from FGM in their home countries. While FGM is illegal in Europe, clandestine clinical procedures persist due to the allure of financial gain. Some girls, not from wealthy families, are cut by grandmothers using non-clinical methods, leading to infections and even death.

Legal Protections and the Role of DieM 25:
European Union (EU) member states have laws against FGM, but the legal consequences need to be clearly outlined to deter potential perpetrators. Criminal syndicates involved in cross-border FGM must face justice. DieM 25, as a political movement, can play a significant role in raising awareness and advocating for the protection of African girls in the EU.

In conclusion, the fight against FGM requires a united, global effort. By shedding light on this issue and actively pursuing legal measures, we can hope to eradicate this cruel practice and protect the rights and well-being of African girls living in Europe. DieM 25, with its political platform, has a crucial role to play in this vital mission..

Zim’s Cyber City Takes Shape

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe’s highly anticipated high-tech cyber city has taken a significant step forward as 50 villa units have officially gone on sale. This milestone has captured the attention of international cricket luminaries, local pension funds, and Zimbabweans living abroad, signaling the immense potential of the project.

Located in Mount Hampden, western Harare, the construction of this visionary cyber city is set to commence in the coming days. The initial phase aims to deliver 50 villa units out of the proposed 233 within the next one and a half to two years, marking the beginning of a new era of economic and social development.

Mulk Holdings International, the driving force behind this groundbreaking project, is set to make Zimbabwe the first African nation to have a smart city. Mr. Nawab Shaji Ul Mulk, Chairman of Mulk International, revealed these exciting developments during an event celebrating the official commencement of property sales.

He highlighted that civil works were already underway, with the construction of villa units taking place in Dubai.

“In the next few days, we will initiate the first phase, encompassing 50 units out of the 233 villa units, with delivery expected within the next 18 to 24 months,” Mr. Mulk announced.

The comprehensive project is expected to be completed within the subsequent four years, transforming the landscape of Zimbabwe and setting new standards for urban development.

Mr. Mulk envisions the cyber city as a fully functional society, complete with shopping malls, towering edifices, and water bodies. He emphasized that land clearance, landscaping, design, and engineering have been completed, with ongoing local government approvals meeting the majority of requirements.

“It’s poised to become a unique model in Africa; there’ll be no need to fly to Dubai for shopping malls, as the city will offer most of what people travel to Dubai for,” Mr. Mulk explained. With its special economic zone status, all resident imports will be duty-free, further enhancing the city’s appeal.

Beyond its economic contributions, Zim Cyber City aims to elevate tourism in Zimbabwe by offering state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class amenities, attracting global visitors.

The city’s integration into the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) program reflects the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth and attracting investments.

Zim Cyber City will streamline blockchain and digital asset license clearance, provide cutting-edge office spaces, and offer upscale residential living for all individuals and entities within the community. Additionally, it will feature advanced built-in surveillance technology, ensuring maximum resident security through direct links to local law enforcement authorities.

What Do Journalists Gain from Exposing Mnangagwa’s Affair With A Married Girlfriend?

By A Correspondent | What do journalists get from exposing Emmerson Mnangagwa’s affair with a married girlfriend he has just promoted to the position of Attorney General?, asks Thelma Gokuda.

Answer: The responsibility for disclosure is not for journalists but Mr Mnangagwa and the just appointed Attorney General as in line with their code of conduct at work.

I. The Necessity of Public Declaration:

1. **Transparency and Accountability:** Public declaration of private relationships within the workplace fosters transparency and accountability. It ensures that no undue favoritism, bias, or unethical conduct occurs due to undisclosed relationships, which could compromise the integrity of public administration.

2. **Conflict of Interest Mitigation:** Declaring romantic relationships is crucial to identifying potential conflicts of interest. When a superior officer is involved romantically with a subordinate, it is essential to assess whether this relationship might influence decision-making, promotions, or assignments unfairly.

3. **Maintaining Public Trust:** The public’s trust in government institutions relies on the perception of fairness and impartiality. Public declaration of relationships helps maintain public trust by demonstrating a commitment to ethical conduct within civil service.

II. Dangers to the Public Good When Love Affairs Are Not Declared:

1. **Nepotism and Favoritism:** Undisclosed romantic relationships can lead to nepotism and favoritism within the workplace, as decisions may be influenced by personal feelings rather than merit. This can erode morale among employees and damage the reputation of public institutions.

2. **Erosion of Meritocracy:** When relationships are not declared, qualified individuals may be overlooked in favor of those in undisclosed relationships, which undermines the principles of meritocracy and equal opportunity.

3. **Legal Liabilities:** Failure to declare relationships may expose both the civil servant and the government to legal liabilities, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, or misconduct, which can result in costly litigation and reputational damage.

4. **Public Perception:** The public may perceive undisclosed relationships as a lack of transparency and ethical standards within the civil service, which can erode confidence in government institutions and democratic processes.

In light of these considerations, it is strongly recommended that civil servants publicly declare their private relationships, especially romantic ones, with their subordinates. This declaration should be made to relevant supervisory authorities or human resources departments, following established policies and guidelines. By doing so, civil servants can uphold the principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability, thereby contributing to the public good and maintaining public trust in government institutions.
