Man Bribes Girl With A $1 To Conceal R_ape

By A Correspondent- A man from Makau village in Seke has appeared in court for allegedly rɑp!ng a 15-year-old girl whom he later offered US$1 to conceal the assault.

He went away but came back a few minutes later. When she opened the door, he dragged her into the bedr00m and rɑpǝ her twice. The girl tried to call for help but no one came.

After the double assault he offered her the US$1, which she refused to take. Her uncle returned at around 7:30pm and she immediately told him what had happened.

South Africa Ban Old Zim Wagons

By A Correspondent- South Africa has banned Zimbabwean rail wagons from its territory citing the old wagons which raises high risk of derailment, it has emerged.

The development was confirmed by National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) general manager Respina Zinyanduko Monday while answering questions before Parliament’s Transport Portfolio Committee.

“The challenge about our failure to send our wagons to South Africa is that our wagons are old,” said Zinyanduko.

“Because the wagons are old, SA does not want them on their rail lines because they say they have a high risk of derailment because of their age. They do not want to risk damaging their tracks.”

The NRZ general manager however said other regional countries had not taken the same position as South Africa.

“If you look at other countries like DRC, Zambia, Botswana and Mozambique, our wagons are going all the way to these countries without any challenges,” she said.

“So, the only challenge with SA is our wagons. They say if we buy new wagons, they will allow them into SA.

Their wagons (SA) are actually coming into Zimbabwe. Because our wagons are sub-standard, NRZ is now using SA’s wagons to carry goods to SA.”

According to the GM, although the parastatal was making gross profit over the past two years, its railway system needed new wagons as most of the its equipment had gone beyond its average life span of 40 years.

Of the 68 main line locomotives, 14 of these were not working and the rest needed upgrading or replacement,” she said.

Most of them have outlived their 25 years life span. Wagons have also outlived their 40-year life span and most had gone beyond 60 years.”

Government, which wholly owns the company, has not supported NRZ meaningfully with most of the money allocated in annual budgets not getting disbursed.

Elections Possibly In July, Mnangagwa Tells Dictator Friend

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has hinted that the much anticipated harmonised elections will be held in July adding he is confident of his party’s victory.

He was speaking during the signing ceremony of the instruments of cooperation between Belarus and Zimbabwe at the State House on Tuesday.

“Zimbabwe will soon hold elections, sometime in July, possibly,” he said.

“Let me assure you that since, Independence, Zimbabwe has never omitted to hold elections. Every five years we have elections and the ruling party Zanu-PF has been winning all those elections and we will continue winning.”

He added; “Last time about 59 parties contested and we had 23 presidential contestants. This is beautiful. The more the people who want to become presidents, the merrier it is.

“I don’t know who wants to contest this but the contest is open to everyone. Zanu-PF is confident that we will win.”

Mnangagwa’s remarks follow claims by main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party that Zanu-PF is hesitant to hold the plebiscite due to fear of losing evidenced by rampant political violence across the country.

According to rights groups 2,000 cases of violence were reported last year including two deaths of activists from the opposition party.

Mnangagwa however, maintained that his government was peaceful.

“Zimbabwe is friend to all and enemy to none. Those who want to make enemies out of us, it’s their own ndaba, it’s their own fault,” he said.

The event was graced by Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko and his delegation comprising ministers among other top government officials.

His visit is aimed at boosting “strong cooperation in political, economic, mining, agriculture and disaster risk management” between the two countries.

Speaking at the same event, Belarusia’s authoritarian Lukashenko pledged to support Mnangagwa.

“There is a country called Belarus which will be always be ready to give you a helping hand if need be .

“Mr President my dear brother I would like to thank you for everything for your warm welcome and organizing this visit.

“We are going to work together, Belarus is going to help you in everything you need,” said Lukashenko.

He also said, “We have very high respect for the people of Zimbabwe. We are grateful to the people of Zimbabwe and I would like to emphasise that we are coming to Africa not to bring chaos … but to work for the benefit of those.”

Allies Turn Swords Against Mnangagwa Over ZEC Delimitation Report

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s allies that are members of a platform ostensibly set up to improve the country’s electoral environment after the disputed 2018 polls have turned their swords on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) after it produced a contentious delimitation report.

Zec is finalising the delimitation report after a parliamentary ad-hoc committee raised a number of alleged anomalies in the delimitation process.

The Political Actors Dialogue (Polad), which is composed of fringe opposition party leaders that contested the 2018 polls and was set up by Mnangagwa, said the divisions in Zec that arose after the draft delimitation report did not bode well for credible elections.

Seven commissioners refused to append their signatures to the report after claiming that it violated the constitution. The commissioners accused Zec chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba of not consulting them.

Chigumba cut a lone figure during appearances in Parliament and at State House where she received Mnangagwa’s recommendations on the delimitation report last week.

Polad’s governance and legislative agenda chairperson Lovemore Madhuku said there must be evidence that the delimitation outcome was a collective effort from Zec commissioners.

“The preliminary delimitation report doesn’t pass the test set out in the constitution. Polad regards it as a failure on the part of Zec,” Madhuku said.

“Polad is concerned about the internal governance of Zec. Under our constitution, Zec is a corporate body consisting of nine commissioners.

“The delimitation process cannot be the work of one or two commissioners; there must be clear evidence that all commissioners are involved at every stage of the process.

“This is essential for the integrity and credibility of Zec. Polad would like to see public appearances of Zec commissioners at all platforms where Zec is either presenting to, or receiving from, the president reports relating to the delimitation process.

“Zec must use all the remaining stages to demonstrate in public the involvement of all commissioners.”

Since it was set up, Polad has been measured in its criticism of Mnangagwa’s administration and institutions such as Zec. Its heavy rebuke of the commission could indicate that it has achieved little in its efforts to change Zimbabwe’s election landscape.

Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa, who narrowly lost to Mnangagwa in the disputed 2018 polls refused to join Polad saying it was a waste of time.

Madhuku said Polad also queried the formula used by Zec in drawing constituency boundaries.

Stewart Bank Opens New Remittance Centre

Steward Bank, Zimbabwe’s largest bank by depositors, last month opened a remittance centre in Harare which caters for both international and local remittances.

The state-of-the-art remittance centre, where customers can access funds sent from within Zimbabwe or abroad, is situated at the Eastgate Complex in Harare.

Customers can collect money sent via SasaiRemit, EcoCashRemit, StewardRemit, WorldRemit and many others.

Market analysts believe the new outlet is part of Steward Bank’s strategy to provide an integrated retail and digital customer experience designed to make it convenient for customers to collect their foreign currency in a clean, safe and secure environment.

In the past few years, Steward Bank has partnered with several global money transfer agents, including HelloPaisa, MoneyGram and Mama Money — among many others – to facilitate the free flow of remittances into the country.

The World Bank estimates that remittance flows into Zimbabwe reached US$2 billion last year against US$1.4 billion in 2021 and $1 billion in 2020.

Steward Bank Chief executive officer Courage Mashavave said the financial institution recently introduced intra-bound remittances and scaled up Steward Remit to enable access to foreign currency. Mashavave said in his festive season message to customers:

We are collaborating with agencies across the country, in areas such as Mutoko and Murehwa. Compared to this time last year, we have tripled our Customer Satisfaction Index, demonstrating that we are increasing our customers’ expected service and product quality.

Meanwhile, StewardRemit, which allows real-time US dollar money transfers across the country for both Steward Bank account holders and non-account holders, has reduced its transaction charges.

The StewardRemit send-money charge was reduced from 5% to 3% of the transaction amount, inclusive of 2% IMT tax.

Man Jailed 15yrs For R_aping Own 5yr Old Daughter

By A Correspondent- A 37 year old man from Lobengula in Bulawayo has been slapped with a 15-year jail term for repeatedly rɑp!ng his five-year-old daughter.

The man, who could not be named to protect the identity of the minor, appeared before magistrate Sibongile Marondedze on Monday charged with rɑpǝ.

In November last year, the daughter narrated her ordeal to a neighbour, who, however, did not buy the story.

The toddler’s aunt later got wind of the matter and tasked her maid to interview her.

The child then revealed that she was being ƨǝxually abused by her father and the matter was reported to the police, leading to his arrest.

A medical report was produced in court as evidence.

Housing Stand, Cattle For Poetry Girl

By A Correspondent- A 14 year old girl is living her dream, to the delight of her family and the Chinhoyi community after she reportedly got a residential stand and acquired cattle through poetry.

Sakile Manyonga, a Nemakonde High School student, started poetry at just four years of age in Nemakonde.

She would perform at state and public functions, marvelously so, until the Chinhoyi Town Council gave her a housing stand.

Sakile’s mother Eunice Muchena spoke about her daughter’s talent and confirmed she also managed to get six herd of cattle bought through proceeds from her performances. She said:

She got the stand from the council after being noticed performing without fear of the public glare at the state and public functions ever since she was around four. I want the nation to know that Sakile was born at our rural homestead while I was home alone and had to cut the umbilical cord using a broken bottle of glass. Besides the stand, Sakile has six head of cattle which we bought using proceeds from the public performances. The herd once reached the eight mark, but at some point, we had to sell two to settle her fees rrequirements.

Chinhoyi Municipality spokesperson Tich Mlauzi confirmed the town honored Sakile. He said:

We have a policy as a council to honour those we deem would have made some unique contributions but the decision has to be made by the full council. Sakile was spotted at many public fora performing at a very tender age hence the honour.

“Top CIO Boss Running ZEC Database Security” Debate

By A Correspondent | UK based Dr Masimba Mavaza writes saying Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Head Of Security, Mavis Matsanga is not a Central Intelligence Organisation employee.

This is contrary to revelations by the exiled prof Jonathan Moyo whose excelgate book states that Matsanga has been working for the CIO since 2008 while employed at the electoral commission heading its data security department.

Last night, CCC North America leader Tawanda Dzvokora took Mavaza to task saying, “Mavis Matsanga was in January 2023 promoted from a DIO (district) to aPIO (Provincial Intelligence Officer), this is per records in our possession,” of which Mavaza hit back at him saying, ‘since when did the opposition CCC party access CIO records?’

Mavaza also said walking past the CIO building does not make a person a CIO. He also argued giving the parallel of CCC Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere who he said was a ZANU PF member just 3 years ago and today is running the opposition’s information department, saying that does not make her a ZANU PF agent.

The discussion is in the following video:

ALSO READ ORIGINAL ARTICLE BY MAVAZA:

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Opinion | FULL TEXT – Each time we are near elections a very annoying group springs up. It is a group with a special speciality of setting the truth upside down. Their profession can not be called anything else but lies. They expose their intelligence or lack of it and they are called liars. The main reason people lie is low self-esteem. Which is highly visible in this particular group. They use their lies to gain social acceptance. As a nation we must emphasise to these liars the consequences of lying.

The ZIMEYE a very popular online newspaper published a Twitter claiming that The Head of Security at @ZECzim, Mavis Matsanga is a serving CIO
Director.

The publication went further to allege that her husband is a lecturer at UZ. “Mavis Matsanga straight to DG Isaac Moyo. Her father was a CIO and her family comes from Rusape. She lives near Patrick Chinamasa’s house which recently got burnt down.”sic.

The tweet is not only a lie but shameless blabbing total misrepresentation meant to cause mistrust and set a fight between ZEC and the electorate. The mentioning of the Director General and fixing a none existent relationship giving people jobs and ranks in the CIO is a way of casting aspersions and causing pandaemonium during the forthcoming elections.

ZIMEYE is persistently interfering with Zimbabwean elections and planning to disrupt the elections by undermining ZEC. Pathological lying is a symptom of various personality disorders, including antisocial, narcissistic, and histrionic personality disorders. Other conditions, such as borderline personality disorder, may also lead to frequent lies, but the lies themselves are not considered pathological.

For ZIMEYE to publish such a Twitter without verifying its information is beyond low. It is therefore clear that such nonsense published by ZIMEYE is shameful embarrassing and indeed idiotic.

But why is ZIMEYE giving such wrong information what does it aim to achieve by doing such.
Why do newspapers appear to be able to get away with mild truth bending and sometimes even outrageous lies? people have more leniency for newspapers’ lies when they bolster a shared belief that a specific political stance is morally right. It appears to be because those lies are perceived by supporters as an acceptable and perhaps necessary means to achieve a. higher moral end.

A troubling and timely implication of such lies is that political figures may be able to act in corrupt ways without damaging their images, at least in the eyes of their supporters. So they use the journalists to advance the agenda of confusion and anarchy. It is sad that lying served a shared moralized goal and is more accepted and advocacy in support of the opposing view, or nonpreferred end, was more condemned, regardless of whether the statement was true or false.

Moral conviction for a cause, not the fairness of procedures, may shape people’s perceptions of any target who engages in norm-violating behaviors that uphold moralized causes, such as demonising ZEC and mixing it up with state security issues to gain maximum confusion.

To ZIMEYE Lying takes more energy than telling the truth, unless the liar has a personality disorder such as psychopathy or narcissism. In both of these cases the liar convinces him or herself that what they are saying is the truth—even if at some level they know it isn’t. By believing in their lies they prepare the people for rebellion.

The same is true of people in a high executive or political level. They have become so used to people accepting what they say, whether it is an obvious falsehood or not, that the energy expenditure in lying is minimized and they can keep on doing it without obvious psychological harm.

With the presidential and parliamentary campaigns in the homestretch, the quadrennial contest for deception, misdirection, fact-bending, half-truths, and downright lies, in other words, the challenge to win the hearts and minds of voters, is in full swing.
We should understand that journalists mmaintain a neutral stance on which party and which candidates are the most disingenuous and dishonest, but lying seems to be reaching its apogee with less than ten months until the election, there will be new heights (or depths, depending on how you look at it) to be reached between now and July.

It is constantly amazing how often journalists lie and then, of course, their unwillingness to admit that they lied. The euphemisms that journalists politicians use for what is, in many cases, bold-faced lies are legend. Politicians misspoke. The biased media misinterpreted what they meant. Politicians’ words were distorted, misrepresented, twisted, exaggerated, or taken out of context.

They overstated, understated, or misstated. But, of course, politicians never lie, at least that’s what they say. It is sad that the Twitter is thrown in there knowing very well that the DG or his office will not respond.

Yet, the unvarnished truth is that ZIMEYE lied about Matsanga and ZEC. Why do journalists believe they can lie and not get caught? Particularly in this age of the Internet and its army of professional and amateur fact-checkers, the chances of lies standing up under the glare of the inevitable cyber-scrutiny are slim to none.

So, why do some opposition media believe they can lie when their untruths are so easily uncovered? Isaac Moyo is the Director General of Zimbabwe’s intelligence unit, the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO). Before his appointment to this post on 9 December, 2017 he was Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to South Africa and Lesotho. He does not in any way control appointments at ZEC.- DISCUSSION AT 7PM ON ZIMEYE

Apostle Arrested For Robbing Pastor USD400

A self styled apostle with the God of Fire International Ministries was arrested on Sunday for allegedly duping a Zambian pastor of US$400.
Apostle Raston Chikoti allegedly duped Pastor Mightwell Zimba, and he was arrested and detained at Kuwadzana 2 Police Station under RRB 5444718. He appeared in court yesterday and the matter has been set for next month.

“I am Zambian and reside in Kafue District. In 2020, I met Chikoti in Malawi where were doing Bible studies.

“When we finished our studies, we went to our respective countries and in August 2021 Chikoti phoned me and said there was a company in Zimbabwe which manufacturers tents.

“He told me that since I was planning for a church overflow, I should send him $400 so that he could buy and send the tents to me in Zambia.

“Without hesitation I transferred the money via Mukuru. After he received the money, he started making excuses, and then eventually blocked me,” said Pastor Zimba.

“In December 2022, relatives from Zimbabwe visited me in Zambia and I told them the story. When they returned to Zimbabwe, they tried to talk to Chikoti, but he claimed not to know me.

“He even said he did not do any transaction. My relatives reported the case to police and he got scared and then promised to pay back the amount times two.”

A source said after his arrest, the apostle and his church elders were liaising with Pastor Zimba to withdraw the case against him.

“He was arrested at around midday on Sunday and church elders pleaded with the complainant to withdraw the case and have an out of court settlement.

“There are also reports that he has been doing this to congregants for a long time, but they are afraid to confront him probably because of his position. His shenanigans should come to an end because he is embarrassing the church,” said the source.—H Metro

Defunct NRZ Offloads USD200 Allowance For Workers

Faced with having many financial and operational challenges, the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has introduced a US$200 allowance for employees, on top of their normal salaries paid in local currency.

Giving oral evidence to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport and Infrastructure Development on Monday NRZ General Manager Ms Respina Zinyanduko said the parastatal may not be competing with other private companies in terms of salary figures, but their employees were grateful for the cushion.

Ms Zinyanduko said social and mainstream media reports that her company was at loggerheads with its employees over a number of issues including unilateral dismissals non-payment of salaries were a mere creation of dismissed workers.

“NRZ is not in dispute with its employees who are in service, if you check our records we are paying our salaries on time. We don’t have enough money to pay or compete with other private companies but we are however paying US$200 in allowances over and above their RTGS salaries all meant to cushion our employees. Given the history of NRZ where they are coming from, the employees are grateful even though not fully satisfied because they always expect better,” said Ms Zinyanduko.

A number of quasi-Government organisations have taken to cushioning their employees with USD allowances, taking a leaf from central Government who took the lead by introducing USD allowances for civil servants, initially starting as Covid-19 allowances. —Chronicle

ZRP Spokesman To Testify Against Mahere

NATIONAL police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi has been summoned to testify in a case where Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Fadzai Mahere is accused of publishing falsehoods on social media.
Mahere tweeted that a police officer had killed a baby with a baton stick sometime in 2021. She cited a police report, which the State refused to accept as evidence, claiming that it was not verified.

Her defence team, comprising Chris Mhike and David Drury yesterday asked for Nyathi to be summoned as a witness to confirm the police Press statement.

Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere ordered that Nyathi be summoned to give evidence before the court on February 17.

In court, Mahere told State prosecutor Sheila Mupindu that she was never evasive to the police, and had admitted that she had indeed made the tweets.

She said she only uploaded the video to her Twitter account where members of the public could be heard saying that a police officer had killed the baby.

Nyathi is expected to testify on a statement which he allegedly issued responding to the viral video, where he said police do not condone smashing windows of public vehicles and endangering lives.

Mahere’s attempt to submit Nyathi’s statement as a court exhibit was opposed last week by State prosecutor Netsai Mushayabasa, who said the statement was not verified.— Newsday

The court heard that on May 16, 2022, Kakondo called the woman, inviting her to meet at Chihuri Bus Stop so that she could collect her money.

Zanu PF Stalwart Jailed For Abusing WhatsApp

A FORMER Zanu PF Tsholotsho councillor who sent insulting texts on WhatsApp has been fined $50 000 and jailed for 10 months.

Patrick Magomora Ngwenya had been charged with violating a section of the Cyber Security and Data Protection Act 12:07 – cyber bullying and harassment.

The law, promulgated in 2021, primarily mandates data controllers to take applicable technical and organisational measures that are necessary to protect data from unauthorised destruction, negligent loss, unauthorised alteration or access and any other unauthorised processing of the data.

It also guards against cyberbullying and abuse of social media to cause harm.

Ngwenya (64), a former Ward 16 councillor in Tsholotsho sent offensive messages via a WhatsApp platform, directed at Tsholotsho South legislator Musa Ncube in which he labelled her a pr0stitute.

On Friday, he appeared at Tsholotsho Magistrates Court before provincial magistrate Mr Victor Mpofu and pleaded guilty.

For the State, prosecutor Ms Sheron Phiri said on the period extending from November 8, 2022 to November 10, 2022, Ngwenya unlawfully and intentionally by means of a computer or information system, generated and sent WhatsApp messages and audios to groups in the district, insulting the legislator, calling her a pr0stitute.

The prosecutor said the messages were sent to the WhatsApp groups with the intention to harass, bully or cause substantial emotional distress or to degrade and to humiliate the Member of Parliament.

“He was removed from the group by the administrator who is also the complainant. On November 9, 2022, in another group titled “Interdistrict Group”, Ngwenya also sent an audio message shouting vulgɑr terms at the complainant and was immediately removed from the group by one Sithandazile Moyo. As if that was not enough, on November 10, Ngwenya went to legislator Ncube’s inbox and sent an audio message calling her in iSiNdebele, “wule” (pr0stitute),” said Ms Phiri.

The legislator filed a police report leading to Ngwenya’s arrest.

Her cellphone was taken as an exhibit and forwarded to Cyber Laboratory where audio messages were extracted and analysed and a specialist report was compiled.

“It is the State’s view that the words used were humiliating and gender insensitive,” said Ms Phiri.

In passing sentence, Mr Mpofu described Ngwenya’s behaviour as toxic and loathsome adding that considering his age, he should have exercised self-restraint even when allegedly provoked.

“In coming up with an appropriate sentence, the court considered that the accused pleaded for a lenient sentence by pleading guilty to the offence out of his own volition. He did not put the State to the strictest of proof. He is a first-time offender and as such the court could be lenient on a non-repeat offender.”

In his defence, Ngwenya said he committed the offence after being provoked by the legislator.

The magistrate said the court noted that Ngwenya is a mature elder whose age has reached that legal age of retirement and the court has a duty of not imposing a sh0cking punishment which could prejudice the health of elderly citizens.

“The court could not however condone Ngwenya’s toxic discourse, especially considering the fact that he should be assumed to be mature and possess self-restraint but what he did was morally loathsome and should be discouraged.

“The novelty of the legal instrument however made the court to be carefully considerate when assessing for an appropriate sentence,” said Mr Mpofu.

The 10 months sentence was suspended for three years on condition that Mpofu does not within that period commit an offence involving the provisions of the Cyber Security and Data Protection Act. If he does, he will be given an imprisonment term without the option of a fine.

About Cervical Cancer

Key facts

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally, with an estimated 604 000 new cases and 342 000 deaths in 2020.

About 90% of the new cases and deaths worldwide in 2020 occurred in low- and middle-income countries (1).

Two human papillomavirus (HPV) types (16 and 18) are responsible for nearly 50% of high grade cervical pre-cancers
HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity. More than 90% of them clear the infection eventually.

Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.

Vaccination against HPV and screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions is a cost-effective way to prevent cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly.

Comprehensive cervical cancer control includes primary prevention (vaccination against HPV), secondary prevention (screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions), tertiary prevention (diagnosis and treatment of invasive cervical cancer) and palliative care.

Overview

Worldwide, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women with an estimated 604 000 new cases in 2020. Of the estimated 342 000 deaths from cervical cancer in 2020, about 90% of these occur in low- and middle-income countries. Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV, and an estimated 5% of all cervical cancer cases are attributable to HIV (2). Moreover, in all world regions the contribution of HIV to cervical cancer falls disproportionately on younger women.

In high-income countries, programmes are in place which enable girls to be vaccinated against HPV and women to get screened regularly and treated adequately. Screening allows pre-cancerous lesions to be identified at stages when they can easily be treated.

In low-and middle-income countries, there is limited access to these preventative measures and cervical cancer is often not identified until it has further advanced and symptoms develop. In addition, access to treatment of cancerous lesions (for example, cancer surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) may be limited, resulting in a higher rate of death from cervical cancer in these countries.

The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally (age standardized rate among women: 13.3/100 000 in 2020) could be reduced by effective interventions at different stages of life.

HPV and cervical cancer
A large majority of cervical cancer (more than 95%) is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives, and some may be repeatedly infected. More than 90% of the infected populations eventually clear the infection.

Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to HPV infection.

Although most HPV infections clear up on their own and most pre-cancerous lesions resolve spontaneously, there is a risk for all women that HPV infection may become chronic and pre-cancerous lesions progress to invasive cervical cancer.

It takes 15 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop in women with normal immune systems. It can take only 5 to 10 years in women with weakened immune systems, such as those with untreated HIV infection.

Cervical cancer control: a comprehensive approach
The Global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2020, recommends a comprehensive approach to cervical cancer prevention and control. The recommended actions include interventions across the life course.

Exploring Miners’ Challenges

By A Correspondent| Lack of sound sponsorship and dearth of basic empowerment skills are the main problems affecting artisanal miners.

Lack of insurance is another factor affecting miners.

In a bid to empower and equip miners with essential skills, Three Wingers Enterprises, a Zimbabwean company that focuses on mining consultancy, has embarked on offering theoretical and practical assistance to miners.

See presentation below:

SMART MINING OR SPONSORSHIP

Artisanal mining is sustained by what is commonly called sponsorship, sponsors bring money , food , diesel , explosives , headgears and expertise.

They either bring all or one of them to help miner owner and workers achieve what they couldn’t do on their own .

Bringing all increases risks of huge loses but decreases chances of losing when you indeed make money . Basically sponsorship is the unrecognised life blood of Artisanal mining directly or indirectly. It ranges from formal agreements, informal written to equipment hire loan , truck loan , milling loan even informal cash loan of mouth watering amounts passed within two parties without any writing on paper .

Those that are usually paid back come with huge profits of over 100% those who are not paid back usually disappear for ever .

We once wanted to do a video documentary of how it disappear or multiple by giving a full recorded mining activity from day one unfortunately resources limited us . In these series we will first list in this article reasons why some of the sponsorship monies are not paid back then cover in detail explain how it works .
REASONS FOR FAILURE TO PAY BACK SPONSORSHIP IN EXACT ORDER
1 under sponsorship
2 lack of knowledge of Artisanal mining
3 improper monitoring tools
4 lack of insurance ( guarantee)
5 hitting a gold dry spell
6 failing to include all parties when signing.

1 UNDER SPONSOR
This is a situation whereby you sponsor with insufficient funds and leave key areas of the transaction to make it a success unattended risking low returns or encouraging other co-sponsors to be included without your knowledge to come in with better understanding of mining thereby taking you out of the picture.
Before you sponsor ask questions that would clearly paint the picture of exactly how much is the total cost of the transaction who covers what and what is expected of you how long it will take ( always multiply their estimated time by 3 ) . Sometimes what the miner owner needs is money for personal use let that be spelled out clearly know what you are getting into most things used at the mine are found in all major towns in Zimbabwe. Inorder to reduce risks look for a mining consultancy company to do analysis and agreements writing for you at a fee .

Below is a general list of first level mining and general prices then lastly available ongoing mines ready for sponsorships
1 compressor hire 10% of proceeds
2diesel 200litres
3 explosives set 3boxes 1000usd
4 Food 150usd
5 Petty cash 100usd
6 ore transportation and permits paid after process .

List of sponsorship opportunities
1 mining consultant company 3000usd long term engagement terms discussed
2 repairing tanks 1500usd longterm with minimum returns 300usd per month .

3 explosives and diesel x 4mines
4 mine open full scale joint venture open budget
5 Lithium mines both joint venture and purchase.

Did Argentina Receive Fake Cup ?

Lionel Messi has revealed that he was not sure if his Argentina team paraded a legitimate World Cup trophy, or it was merely a replica.

The Albiceleste won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after beating France on penalties in the final.

The South Americans then embarked on a prolonged period of celebrations posing with the iconic trophy in their home country.

Messi, who led Argentina to their third World Cup triumph, was not convinced with the trophy they paraded back home.

“I don’t know why there was a mess with the Cup,” the superstar told Argentine journalist Andy Kusnetzoff in an interview carried by MD. “I raised the good one and later in the celebrations there was half a mess.

“We didn’t know if it was the real one or not, but she (the trophy) had already been the first with my companions. It’s heavy.”

The 35-year-old added: “I saw it there and I couldn’t not do what I did. Because she called me, the Cup called me. She’s done, come grab me now I can touch her.

“Did you see that they say that if you don’t win you can’t touch it, look at it. I saw her there, shining, startling in that beautiful stadium, and I didn’t think about it.”

Traditionally, FIFA allows the winning team to parade the original World Cup Trophy before return it.

The winners will then get a replica which will keep forever.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

CCC Councillors Excel

Accessible, Available, and Responsive councilors honored in Masvingo

Results from community scorecards showcased that councilors Sengerai Manyanga (ward 10), Admore Dhemba (ward 16), and Peter Imbayarwo (ward 19) were the best councilors in Masvingo Urban, Masvingo Rural, and Zaka Rural district councils, respectively, for the year 2022.

The community scorecards were administered by 158 COTRAD Action for Accountability Groups (AAGs) members drawn from 79 wards.

10 wards were targeted in Masvingo Urban District, while 34 wards were targeted in Zaka district and 35 in Masvingo Rural district.

The scorecards measured determinants and predictors of accessibility, availability, and responsiveness of ward councilors between January and December 2022. A monthly score was provided and an average was calculated during the 12th month.

For the purposes of the scorecard, accessibility was easy to be reached by the communities they represent and this included physical and online contact.

It referred to geographic accessibility, and was determined by how easily the community reached the councilor be it physically or various online. Availability was the extent to which the councilor participated in citizen engagement platforms such as feedback and consultation meetings in the respective wards.

Responsiveness referred to the approachability and receptiveness of councilors in ensuring that citizens are served helpfully and responsibly by local authorities. This was dependent on citizens’ experiences when receiving public services.

Findings indicate a need for elected officials to be accessible, available, and responsive. The three councilors were best in their respective wards, but however, the scores were very low.

The three were presented with certificates.- COTRAD Information

Lukashenko Wants Chamisa Lose 2023 Polls

By- The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, told President Emmerson Mnangagwa to work extremely hard and beat the opposition in this year’s elections.

He made the remarks during the signing of eight bilateral agreements between Belarus and Zimbabwe at State House in Harare on Tuesday. He said:

My dear President, this year you’re going to face a huge challenge, presidential, parliamentary elections and local elections. This will be a huge challenge for your nation, and I hope that you will be able to pass through this. Please don’t trust liars, there are no miracles. Good results and success can only be achieved through hard work.

So, I am hopeful that this year you will make the right choice. By making the right choice make sure that you will be able to show the entire world that you deserve the independence that you won, and you’re going to preserve it further. The people of Zimbabwe deserve it, please be very mindful and careful. With all this hard work you will be able to achieve what you want to achieve.

In response to Lukansheko, Mnangagwa said his ZANU PF party was poised to win again this year. He said:

Let me assure you that since independence, Zimbabwe has never omitted to hold general elections when they fall due. Every five years we held elections since 1980 and the ruling party Zanu PF has been winning all these elections. We shall continue winning. It’s true that we are a democracy. Last elections we had over 50 political parties which contested and I had 23 presidential contenders, and this is beautiful.

The more we have people who want to become President, the merrier it is. This time around I don’t know how many want to contest. The ground is open. In Zanu PF, we are extremely confident that we are going to win these elections.

Mnangagwa’s biggest rival, based on the results of the 2018 election, is Nelson Chamisa who leads the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

Chamisa, a former minister of ICT during the Government of National Unity, rejected the outcome of the 2018 presidential election arguing that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) connived with ZZANU PF and overturned results in Mnangagwa’s favour.

Alexander Lukashenko became the President of Belarus on July 20, 1994.

He won a controversial presidential election in Belarus in 2020 and was reelected as the President. The election was criticised for vote-rigging and human rights violations, causing protests and a government crackdown. The international community expressed concerns.

Mnangagwa Says He Does Not Know That Chamisa Will Contest The 2023 Elections

By-Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that he is unaware that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa will contest him in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking at the Zimbabwe-Belarus instruments of cooperation signing ceremony held at State House yesterday, Mnangagwa said the 2023 harmonised elections may be held in July. He said:

Zimbabwe will soon hold elections, sometimes in July possibly.

Let me assure that since independence, Zimbabwe has never omitted to hold elections every five years.

Mnangagwa said the ruling ZANU PF party has been ‘dominating’ elections since independence and the 2023 poll is no exception. He said:

We have elections and ruling party Zanu PF has been winning all those elections and we will continue winning.

Last time, 59 parties contested and we had 23 presidential contestants. This is beautiful. The more the people who want to be president, the merrier it is.

I don’t know who wants to contest this but the contest is open to everyone. Zanu PF is confident that we will win.

Zimbabwe braces itself for the decisive poll — the second since Mnangagwa ousted the late long time ruler Robert Mugabe in a military coup in November 2017.

Citizens Push For Sikhala’s Release

By- Opposition CCC deputy chairman Job Sikhala’s close allies are pushing for the politician’s release on medical grounds.

The opposition legislator has clocked seven months in remand prison after he was arrested last year in June on charges of inciting public violence.
Early this year, Sikhala wrote a heart-wrenching letter from Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, highlighting that he had been suffering from abdominal pain ever since his alleged poisoning.
Sikhala said the pain, exuding from his left side, had been growing steadily over the weeks. He expressed fear that it could be colon cancer.
Yesterday, Friends of Job Sikhala Trust spokesperson Emmanuel Zellas Gumbo told NewsDay that Sikhala’s health was fast deteriorating.
“His health is not in good state, he is suffering from abdominal pains, and there is now suspicion that he could be suffering from cancer of the colon. Not only has he lost weight in prison, but you can also tell that he is emotionally drained,” Gumbo said.
He said Sikhala’s situation had become very dire as the legislator was being denied access to his private doctors by prison authorities.
“He has not had access to his personal doctor; therefore he has not yet gotten proper medical attention, that’s why we are suspecting that he could be suffering from very serious complications,” Gumbo said.
Since his incarceration in June last year, his CCC party president Nelson Chamisa has been denied permission to visit him.
“It’s a very sad situation, not only does this affect us as friends, but his personal health is cause for concern. His immediate family’s mental health is also a major cause of concern. This man has seen it all, he has suffered a lot in the hands of this regime, sadly for simply demanding justice for a fellow citizen,” added Gumbo.
On January 26, Sikhala was remanded in absentia after the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services indicated that he was not well.
Meanwhile, Sikhala’s lawyer Jeremiah Bhamu yesterday filed two applications before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti, which, if granted, would make changes to the lawmaker’s case.
Bhamu wants Sikhala to get treatment from private doctors, saying it is within his rights to do so as he has high blood pressure.
In the second application, Bhamu wants presiding magistrate in Sikhala’s case, Miti recused over alleged bias.
“We are set on filing the second application at the Harare High Court on February 8. The State must make its response known by February 13,” Bhamu said. Newsday

Why Do You Need to Know the Trend?

Every other user believes that he knows how the trends work, but it seems different. Because of these rash decisions, users make poor choices and then blame their fate. So, one must take time out of the routine to know this primary factor.

Types of Trends

Upward and Downward Trend

In this type of trend, you will continuously encounter highs and lows but must differentiate between them. If you notice the highs in the trend, the next high is higher than the previous one.

Likewise, if you notice the lows, the next low is higher than the previous one. In this case, you have to draw an overall line. You have to know if the trends are going upward despite the series of highs and lows. This is how you know the upward trend.

The downward trend is no different from the upward trend. In this case, the next lows are going to be lower, indicating a decrease in price.

Mountain Charts

Mountain charts also go by another name, OHLC (open-high-low-close) charts. These are slightly more complex than line charts. They show the opening, highest, lowest, and closing prices for a given period. These provide a more detailed view of price movements and trends.

Candlestick Trend

Candlestick trends are composed of one or more candlesticks, and each candlestick is composed of four components: open, high, low, and close. The open, high, and low represent the asset’s highest, lowest, and closing prices during a certain period, while the close represents the price at the end of the period.

When an asset is open, high and low prices form a line that moves up or down, creating a pattern. Traders can use the trend line to determine whether the asset is in an uptrend or a downtrend, which can help them decide which option to buy or sell.

Another type of candlestick pattern in binary options trading is the reversal pattern. When a product is opened, high and low prices form a line that reverses the trend. This indicates that the asset is about to reverse its direction and begin a new trend.

Horizontal Trend

This type of pattern doesn’t move up and down. Generally, it will be straight overall. This is convenient as you do not have to calculate whether it is going up or down. This type of trading makes it possible to generate high returns quickly, making it an attractive option for many traders.

Bar Trends

Users can determine this by looking at the highs and lows of the bars on the chart. A bar chart can help traders determine if an asset is in an uptrend, downtrend, or horizontal trend.

These charts show a single line representing the price of any type of product over a certain period. The line charts are created with data points having a continuous line and are used to identify trends in the market.

Why Understand The Trend In Binary Options

When you understand trends in binary options trading, it is important to understand the basics of investing and market conditions clearly. For example, if the market isn’t going in the right direction, asset prices will keep going up. On the other hand, asset prices may decrease if the market is showing a satisfactory trend. It’s important to keep a close eye on the market so you can spot any changes in the trend.

Volatility

Volatility is the degree to which prices fluctuate over time. A higher degree of volatility means that the asset prices move quickly up or down, while a lower degree of volatility means that the prices have lower chances of moving. So, traders should be aware of the volatility of the asset they are trading to ensure they are entering the trade properly.

Conclusion

You have absorbed sufficient knowledge regarding the possible trends of binary options. These will tell you clearly how to access the market’s knowledge through trends or charts.

Ex-Muslim Prisoners Pay Fees For Inmates’ Children

By James Gwati-The Islamic Ex-Inmates Trust, Zimbabwe has paid school fees for about 45 children whose parents are detained at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.

The fees amounted to US$5 000 and were sourced from well-wishers over the festive season.

Samuel White-Islamic Ex-Inmates Trust Zimbabwe Executive director

Samuel White, the organisation’s executive director, told ZimEye.com that they were striving to spread this needy cause to all the country’s prisons.

” The 43 we managed to help are at Chikurubi and Kentucky Prisons, and it is hope and wishes that we cover the whole country’s prisons with his assistance.
We managed to pay fees for only a few kids whose parents could not fend for their families because they are incarcerated.,” said White, also an ex-inmate.

” We did not only donate fees, but also clothes for the children which we sourced from our partners in South Africa,” he added.

Last year, the Trust donated hoards of food items at Harare Central Prison and Chikurubi Female Prison to alleviate hunger and augment the correctional centres’ dietary needs.

Govt Off The Hook, As Rimbi Withdraws Challenge Against Ban

Rimbi Tours has withdrawn its court application filed against Government after its operating licence was suspended and instead wants to work with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to ensure its operational practices meet all the criteria for safe operations.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Felix Mhona announced the suspension of the operation licences of Rimbi Tours and Zebra Kiss following a fatal accident that killed one person on the sport, while injuring others at the 160km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway.

There was video evidence that the buses were racing and overtaking each other.

In the fatal accident, the Zebra Kiss bus overtook a tipper truck while the Rimbi bus, travelling just behind, rammed into the rear of the truck killing its conductor.

Government has since lifted the suspension of Zebra Kiss operating licence after the company had gone through all the checklist and reforms as required by the ministry, while Rimbi had decided to approach the courts challenging the suspension of the permit.

Now, the company wants to follow the Zebra Kiss route. The Ministry basically wants ultra-safe travel for passengers and for companies to have tight operational control of their buses and drivers.

Rimbi Tours director Mr Decent Rimbi said he had erred to approach the courts and yesterday decided to withdrew the court application and was willing to engage the Government.

“We realised that what I had done (filing a court application against the Government) was wrong and I have withdrawn the application,” he said.

“I am sorry for my actions, I am sorry to the President, Minister Mhona and to all the people of Zimbabwe. I was ill informed, but later on came to realise that it was a bad decision. I am pleading for leniency.

“We are ready to engage and work with Government to make sure that we avoid the accidents. We are going to submit all the required documents to the Government as well as our safety strategy as per requirements,” said Mr Rimbi.

Seasoned European Dictator Warns ED About Chamisa

VISITING Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told his ally President Emmerson Mnangagwa to work extremely hard to win this year’s elections which he said will not be a stroll in the park for the Zanu PF leader.

Speaking during the signing ceremony of eight bilateral agreements between Belarus and Zimbabwe at State House yesterday, Lukashenko said the Zanu PF leader would face stiff competition in general elections likely to be held by end of July.

Mnangagwa was the darling of many Zimbabweans when he assumed power after dethroning the late former President Robert Mugabe in a November 2017 coup.

But in 2018, Mnangagwa narrowly won against youthful opposition leader Nelson Chamisa in a disputed presidential election. Since then Mnagagwa’s stock has significantly dipped, opinion polls have indicated.

“My dear President, this year you’re going to face a huge challenge, presidential, parliamentary elections and local elections. This will be a huge challenge for your nation, and I hope that you will be able to pass through this. Please don’t trust liars, there are no miracles. Good results and success can only be achieved through hard work,” Lukansheko said.

“So, I am hopeful that this year you will make the right choice. By making the right choice make sure that you will be able to show the entire world that you deserve the independence that you won, and you’re going to preserve it further. The people of Zimbabwe deserve it, please be very mindful and careful. With all this hard work you will be able to achieve what you want to achieve.”

In response to Lukansheko, Mnangagwa said his Zanu PF party does not lose elections. He dared all interested Zimbabweans to challenge him because the “ground is open”.

“Let me assure you that since independence, Zimbabwe has never omitted to hold general elections when they fall due. Every five years we held elections since 1980 and the ruling party Zanu PF has been winning all these elections. We shall continue winning. It’s true that we are a democracy. Last elections we had over 50 political parties which contested and I had 23 presidential contenders, and this is beautiful,” he said.
https://chat.whatsapp.com/BN0YvqQCzXS87ZPN93xrfk

“The more we have people who want to become President, the merrier it is. This time around I don’t know how many want to contest. The ground is open. In Zanu PF, we are extremely confident that we are going to win these elections.”

On the bilateral agreements signed by two countries, Foreign Affairs minister Frederick Shava and Belarus Foreign Affairs minister Sergei Aleinik first established a Joint Permanent Commission where they appended their signatures.

Other agreements were on reciprocal protection of investments; mutual recognition of educational qualifications; avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and property; contracts on co-operation of supply of tractors and grain harvesting equipment; supply of equipment for the construction and modernisation of grain storage complexes; supplies of machines and equipment for the timber industry and co-operation between City of Harare and Minsk.

Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe was honoured by Lukashenko’s visit which demonstrates the “warm relations” between the two countries.

“This visit strengthens, deepens and consolidates our bilateral relations. And as a result we agreed to open embassies in each other’s capitals. The two countries are victims of sanctions from the West. From that point of view, we are twin sanctions’ victims.

“Belarus has a very developed agricultural sector, and we have begun benefiting from the mechanisation from Belarus. As you have seen we have signed protocols and agreements relating to the mechanisation, modernisation and industrialisation of our agricultural sector. We now wish to further this cooperation to extend to other aspects of the economy like mining and tourism,” Mnangagwa said.

Lukashenko said Belarus had no intentions of colonising Zimbabwe, adding that the world cannot develop without relying on Africa.

“I would like to emphasise that while coming to Africa we bring peace and science and technology. We are not utilising the colonial style. We are not here to do that. We are bringing peace, we are here to train specialists to help you achieve for the progress of your economies,” the Belarusian leader said.

“Whoever we met in Africa, we have good relations with them. Zimbabwe and Belarus are now working together considering possibilities of attracting other countries in the region that include Mozambique into our bilateral cooperation because it’s an agricultural country with very vast ocean lime.”

The bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus began four years ago.

Zanu Pf Stalwart Labels Colleague Pro_stitute

By A Correspondent- Former Zanu PF Tsholotsho councillor who sent insulting texts on WhatsApp has been fined $50 000 and jailed for 10 months.

The novelty of the legal instrument however made the court to be carefully considerate when assessing for an appropriate sentence,” said Mr Mpofu.

The 10 months sentence was suspended for three years on condition that Mpofu does not within that period commit an offence involving the provisions of the Cyber Security and Data Protection Act. If he does, he will be given an imprisonment term without the option of a fine.

Zimcelebs Accused Of Posting False And Defamatory Statements About Kambucha

By A Correspondent| Zimcelebs social media platform has landed itself in serious trouble with the manufacturers of Kambucha drink over an unverified post in which they shared what they said was the process involved in producing the popular beverage.

In a letter to Zimcelebs, Kambucha Fresh Private Limited through their lawyer Admire Rubaya of Rubaya and Chatambudza Legal Practitioners, demanded the unconditional withdrawal of the defamatory statement within 12 hours failure of which they will institute criminal charges against the page administrators.

Kambucha Fresh Private Limited workers inside their factory. This picture is different from the ones shared by Zimcelebs

“In light of the above, our strict instructions are to demand, as we hereby do, the publication of a full, unconditional and unreserved withdrawal of that defamatory statement, pictures and the related imputation together with an expression of regret on the same within 12 hours of receiving this letter,” said Rubaya.

Rubaya said pictures used on the Zimcelebs had nothing to do with their company which has a traceable record of clean, well manufactured and scientifically tested Kambucha drinks.

“We advice you that if you had undertaken proper research, you would have discovered that our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of the Kambucha drink in Zimbabwe with a very strong national and international ties, links and partnerships with other businesses,” added Rubaya.

He added that the pictures used by Zimcelebs showed a Zambian product unrelated to Kambucha from Kambucha Fresh Private Limited.

He accused Zimcelebs of failing to give Kambucha a chance to make representations or to physically visit their factory before publishing “such a malicious statement.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, we reiterate that it is factually incorrect that our client owns or operates from the premises which you captured. Our client denies the premises that you posted as it’s manufacturing plant,

“In fact, our client further challenges to divulge your source because our client asserts that you simply took pictures from social media and attributed the same to it without verifying information prior to posting such defamatory pictures and statement,” said Rubaya.

Meanwhile, some social media users have also complained against Zimcelebs accusing them of publishing unverified information.

“Seems like Zim Celebs is uncontested in terms of unverified and fake news,” said one Facebook user by the name Sabhuku Nenguwo.

“Zim Consul To Belarus A Beneficiary Of Slew Business Agreements”: Report

By A Correspondent- One of the main beneficiaries of a slew of business agreements recently struck between Zimbabwe and Belarus is Aftrade, a business headed by infamous Belarusian tycoon Alexander Zingman.

Alexander Zingman was made Honourary Consul of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Belarus in January 2019.

Aftrade has obtained contracts to develop grain storage facilities, supply tractors and harvesters to the government, and secure equipment deals in the mining and logging industries thanks to the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Zimbabwe.

Four years ago, Zimbabwe announced that it needed 40 000 tractors, at a time when only 9000 were available to work Zimbabwe’s 4 130 000ha of arable land.

The southern African nation looked to Belarus and other suppliers in a bid to plug the gap.

Zimbabwe also signed a US$51 million deal with US company John Deere for the supply of 1 300 tractors, 80 combine harvesters and other equipment. Zimbabwe is also negotiating with India’s Mahindra, which abandoned a plan in 2018 to set up an assembly plant in Zimbabwe due to forex shortages.

Belarus has already supplied equipment to Zimbabwe, but, says Lukashenko, that was only the first phase. newZWire cites him as saying:

But it is just the beginning. We’ve launched the third phase of the programme to the tune of over US$66 million. It provides for shipping over 3,700 tractors, 60 harvesters to the local agrarians within the next 1.5 years.

Aftrade and MTZ, one of Europe’s biggest tractor exporters, will supply at least 3 575 tractors to Zimbabwe between 2023 and 2024. Aftrade has distribution rights for MTZ equipment in the country. MTZ director general Vitaly Vovk said:

The Zimbabwean market opened for Belarus machinery several years ago thanks to our reliable partner, Aftrade DMCC. We are glad that today we are talking about strategic partnership that envisages work on a systematic perspective basis.

We know that last year, for the first time in the past 50 years, the country fully provided itself with grain. It is gratifying that the country succeeded also thanks to Belarus machinery

The new tractors add to the 1 800 tractors and harvesters that MTZ has already supplied to Zimbabwe.

Aftrade was also awarded a contract to supply equipment manufactured in Belarus for the construction and modernisation of grain storage complexes. While no details are known, Agriculture Secretary John Basera recently said Zimbabwe needed to spend over US$275 million over the next three years to build new grain silos, adding 750 000 tonnes of storage space to the current 500 000 tonnes.

MTZ was a major supplier of equipment to Ukraine before the Russia war started, and also exported to the US and Canada.

School Head “Steals” Exam Fees

A headmaster at Usavi Primary School, Ward 22 Buhera Central Constituency is being accused of swindling US$315 meant for grade seven examination fees.

The headmaster Samson Magirigide confirmed the case in a SDC meeting held on Monday.

Sources told Bulawayo24.com that he pleaded with the parents to allow him time to pay back a total USD$315 he misapprotiated after an overpayment of USD$9 per pupil.

During the stormy meeting, village heads and Ward 22 Zanu PF councillor Gibson Gotora reportedly sprung to his defense on humantarian grounds saying that exposing him would render him jobless and that he has a family to take care of hence he should be allowed to refund the school by the February 20.

It is further alleged that there was more than US$3000 that the school head abused in the past and again the matter was swept under the carpet.

Speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation, parents who reached out to this publication said they will not be part of “the Magirigide cancer” and that they will make the necessary noise until the powers that be attend to the matter and arrest the rot at the school.

Efforts to get a comment from the school head, SDC Chairman and District Schools Inspector (DSI) were fruitless up to the time of going to print.

Magirigide is not new to controvesy as he is alleged to have been transferred from Matsakanure Primary School in Buhera South Constituency under a cloud of disgrutlement from parents who were baying for his blood on allegations of embezzlement of school funds.- Bulawayo 24

Grace Paid Chamisa’s 2018 Expenses, Says Cross

Economist and former opposition legislator Eddie Cross has claimed that former First Lady Grace Mugabe bankrolled opposition leader Nelson Chamisa’s 2018 presidential bid.
During the 2018 harmonised elections, Chamisa contested under the MDC Alliance ticket, but now leads the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, an outfit he created in January last year after being elbowed out of MDC Alliance by Douglas Mwonzora.

The 2018 elections were held after the removal from power of the late former President Robert Mugabe by President Emmerson Mnangagwa through a military-assisted coup.

Addressing a Chief Executive Officers Roundtable meeting in Harare last week, Cross, who is also former MDC opposition legislator (Bulawayo South) said in 2018 Mnangagwa faced opposition from everybody.

“Mrs Mugabe financed Chamisa so that he defeats Emmerson and eventually Emmerson abandoned everything and concentrated on winning the elections, and thank God he did because if he hadn’t spent the next four or five months fighting the elections, he could have lost the election. As it is, he won it by 300 000 votes, and when he won that election, he then sorted the problems inside his government — all 20 ministers were Emmerson’s people,” Cross said.

But CCC deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba said: “Eddie is trying by all means to be more Zanu than Zanu PF people themselves. He is a delusional man who will do anything to get a seat in the gravy train.”

Added Cross: “It was all in that meeting with Members of Parliament (to impeach Mugabe in 2017) and in 15 minutes we couldn’t get out of the hotel. There were a quarter of a million people outside that hotel. I couldn’t push the door to find my way out. It was the response of the people that legitimised the change of government. I tried to go to the rally in Highfields that day, but we could not get within three miles, it was just packed with millions of people.

“Sadc [Southern African Development Community] observers came and flew around in a helicopter and they saw what was going on the ground and went back to the State House and they said to Mugabe, it’s over, the people have spoken and it was the people’s response to the coup which legitimised the change of government.”

Cross said the country incurred a huge deficit during Mugabe’s reign, and money was printed to cover the deficit.

He said Zimbabwe’s fiscal deficit was 40% of the budget which prompted Mugabe’s administration to continue printing money.

Cross said after winning the 2013 elections against MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai at the end of the four-year inclusive government, Mugabe re-assumed full control of government and accrued a debilitating fiscal deficit.

“By 2017, the fiscal deficit was 40% of the budget, how do you run a country like that? We had US$23 million in our bank accounts which we called United States dollars but it wasn’t United States dollars. It was there because Mugabe was printing money to cover the deficit. We were headed for the rocks again and that was when Mnangagwa decided the change of government was necessary, and on the 17th of November, the transition took place. I was actually still in Parliament. I sat at the Harare International Conference Centre waiting to impeach the old man, and then in walked a messenger with Mugabe’s letter of resignation,” Cross said. –Newsday

ZANU PF’s Already Won 2023 Elections- Official

A senior Zanu PF official has said that the ruling party has already won this year’s general elections and will never relinquish power even if the opposition is declared winner.
Zanu PF secretary for security, Lovemore Matuke said this over the weekend in Masvingo where the party held its provincial co-ordinating committee meeting.

Matuke bragged that Zanu PF had already won the elections.

“We have an absolute win this year, we have already set our ball rolling and we are winning the elections without fail,” he bragged.

“We want to win it in a peaceful way. We will never dream of losing elections that we already won. There is nothing called losing an election in Zanu PF. We are focusing on how we will lead Zimbabwe after elections, and we cannot lose an election. I will not comment about power transfer. Zanu PF will be giving it to whom? We have to consolidate our power. People died and some disappeared for the country’s liberation.”

The country is set to hold harmonised elections in July or August this year.

Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairperson Robson Mavengengwa said the ruling party was confident that it would get over 600 000 votes in Masvingo province alone.

In response, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the opposition party would challenge any breaches of the Constitution pertaining to smooth transfer of power in the event of an opposition victory in this year’s elections.

“We are going to leave no constitutional stone unturned in the fight to win Zimbabwe for change and install ethical leaders and a competent government led by Nelson Chamisa,” Mahere said.

Political analyst Rashweat Mukundu said: “The Constitution of Zimbabwe must be respected and Zanu PF must hand over power to any newly-elected government. Any resistance will be dealt with using the law. Involvement of the international community is another strategy by the opposition for peaceful transition.” —Newsday

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, he said: ‘Hogan had his back surgery again. He had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can’t feel his lower body, so he has to use his cane to walk around.

‘I thought he was using the cane because he has pain in his back. He doesn’t have any pain. He has nothing at all. Furthermore, he can’t feel anything.

‘So now he can’t feel his legs, so he has to walk with a cane. That’s pretty serious, man. I mean, I really feel for Hogan. He put his heart and soul into the business, and it ate him up.’

The 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist also reflected on WWE’s decision to have Hogan, flanked by his long-time friend Jimmy Hart and walking the short distance unaided, open the anniversary show last week.

‘I mean, if you’re gonna kick off the show, the 30th anniversary of Raw, [it] should be Hulk Hogan. He’s the name and face of the company,’ Angle added. ‘He’s the guy that revolutionised pro wrestling. I have so much respect for him.’

Hogan is yet to publicly comment on his health.

Back in 2020, he revealed a scar caused by his 10th back surgery, with a lot of his health issues stemming from a wrestling career lasting from 1977 to 2012.

He tweeted three years ago: ‘They said 4 months lightweight than 6 months I could train slowly again after back surgery number 10, buuuttt at 7 weeks 4 days my MANIACS can see I’m on the grind with my pizump on brother!

Over the past decade, Hogan has undergone 17 surgeries.

He previously told Harvey Levin’s OBJECTified: ‘My knees are fake, hips are fake, back is full of metal and part of my face is full of metal… I didn’t get the memo about the fake wrestling.’- Metro

Lukashenko Gangs Up With Mnangagwa

Zimbabweans must steadfastly resist Western machinations to put the country on its knees through economic sanctions that are designed to reverse the gains of independence, but instead work together and preserve the “miracle” that is Zimbabwe, visiting Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has said.

Emmerson Mnangagwa with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko

Addressing a press conference with President Mnangagwa at State House in Harare yesterday after jointly presiding over the signing of eight bilateral agreements between Belarus and Zimbabwe, President Lukashenko said the West is spinning a web of lies and deceit in an attempt to suppress sovereign nations.

Both Zimbabwe and Belarus are under punishing economic sanctions from Western nations led by the United States, which observers accuse of sponsoring dissent in independent countries to effect illegal regime change.

Speaking through an interpreter, President Lukashenko said Western countries are determined to suppress and silence independent countries like Zimbabwe and Belarus.

“Today, the biggest countries of the world, the world powers are trying to divide the world, they are trying to suppress countries like Zimbabwe and Belarus and of course to benefit from such suppression.

“Zimbabwe looks like a miracle story, it has all the mineral resources crucial for survival, that is why they will not let you live peacefully.

“The reason behind the sanctions imposed on your country by America is not because you are not democratic, but because your Government made a decision not to let foreign companies cheat your country, rob your country, to put your country on its knees.

“It was the decision of your country to take control of your natural resources that led Western countries, including the United States, to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe,” he said.

Although Zimbabwe has weathered the illegal sanctions, Western nations have stridently tried to illegally remove the democratically elected Zanu PF Government, and with the country poised for harmonised elections this year, the stakes are yet again high as they directly and indirectly fan dissent through their proxies in oppositional forces and non-governmental organisations.

“You will see Western nations trying to sow dissension among you, trying to bend you over, to put you on your knees. You should and must survive, you will survive if you stand united, if you will not let discord separate your nation over some illusory democratic values.

“What you need to do is preserve peace in your country, avoid confrontation, that’s how you will survive, otherwise you will once again get under colonial rule, don’t let it happen,” said President Lukashenko.

This year you are going to have elections and this will be a huge challenge for your nation and I hope you will be able to pass through this. Please don’t trust liars, there are no miracles, good results and success and happiness can only be realised through daily hard work.

“So I am hopeful that this year you will make the right choice, and by making the right choice you will be able to show the entire world that you deserve your independence and to preserve it, be very careful.

“Remember only through hard work will you be able to achieve what you want to achieve, and remember there is a country in the heart of Europe, Belarus, that is always on the ready to give you a helping hand, if need be.”

President Lukashenko said Belarus will help Zimbabwe all the way and will not be distracted by idle talk from Western nations that would like to foist their ideals and beliefs on a sovereign country.

There is a silver lining to the dark clouds of evil sanctions, found in new frontiers of trade and economic co-operation as epitomised by the rapidly growing trade between Zimbabwe and Belarus, relations which have in less than five years blossomed with huge rewards for local farmers and industries.

“I would like to emphasise that by coming to Africa, we bring peace, science and technology. We are not using colonial style; we are not here to do that. We are bringing peace, we are here to train the specialists, to help you achieve the progress of your economies. We plan to expand our ties with Africa because the world cannot develop without Africa and the future belongs to Africa,” President Lukashenko said.

On his part, President Mnangagwa said the reciprocal visit by his Belarus counterpart demonstrates the warm relations which exist between Harare and Minsk, both victims of callous Western sanctions.

On preparations for this year’s elections, the President said the ruling party is confident of victory in the polls that he said could be held in July.

“Zimbabwe has never omitted to hold general elections when they are due, every five years we have held elections since 1980 when we got independence and the ruling party Zanu PF has been winning all these elections and we shall continue winning them.”

Reiterating his Government Foreign Policy thrust of “friend to all and enemy to none”, the President said the door is open for anyone to be an ally with his country.

“Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none. Those who want to be our enemies, it’s their own fault. We want to be friends to all and enemies to none, those who choose to be anything else it’s their fault but this is our policy.

“So we will embrace Belarus and any other countries that are willing to relate to us but not in the perception of horse and rider, no, either we are all horses or all riders. This is how we look at relations and I am very happy that from the first day I met my brother President, we have similar chemistry in terms of how to develop our respective countries on the basis of our domestic resources as well as co-operation with countries which have no intention of dominating us,” said President Mnangagwa.

Over the past few years, Zimbabwe and Belarus have increased trade and co-operation with the status quo helping the country achieve food security.

Russia Watches As Mnangagwa Uses CCC’s Mafume To Sanitize Belarus President Meeting.

By Editorial Team | The last time Emmerson Mnangagwa flew to Russia in 2019, Vladimir Putin’s administration mocked him saying his pleas for financial assistance would never be heeded as Moscow does not even support nearby Belarus.

Emmerson Mnangagwa was humiliated by Russia while mid-air under the following comment:

“The Russian Government… never promised to make up for other countries’ revenue shortfalls, even such close neighbors as Belarus,” said then Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

This time the same Mnangagwa is hosting Belarus used as a reference by Russia, raising eyebrows as to what might happen hereafter of a meeting between two beggarly nations run by despots who have both used brute force to stay in power.

At the special meeting on Tuesday, the unique human breed was Mayor Jacob Mafume who belongs to the main opposition party which was forced out of power in a military coup on 1 August 2018.

“Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume signing a twinning agreement,” announced the Mnangagwa administration as the ruling party that committed the 1 Aug crimes took more notice of Mafume than of the visiting Belarusian dictator.

Twining means nothing politically, for even London is twinned with Vladimir Putin’s Moscow, and a Chinese city is twinned with Nottingham (also twinned with Harare). Jacob Mafume ‘s presence is the best thing to happen at this event, as ZANU PF is not even noticing the presence of the Belarusian President. Its celebration is the arrival of HE Jacob Mafume(CCC).

Tuesday is another day for Russia to take another peep at Zimbabwe and Belarus since that mocking Moscow comment in Jan 2019. This time however Emmerson Mnangagwa has sold the whole of Mutare size land in exchange for 700 Zupco buses, many of which have broken down, less than 3 years later.

All this is economic intelligence Russia is gathering for its next meeting with Emmerson Mnangagwa. Will Putin give Zimbabwe money this time?

Sikhala Heads to High Court for Recusal

CCC legislator Job Sikhala yesterday indicated that he wants to approach the High Court seeking stay of court proceedings in the matter he is accused of inciting public violence in Nyatsime last year.
Sikhala is jointly charged with fellow CCC legislator Godfrey Karakadzai Sithole on incitement to commit public violence. Through lawyer Mr Jeremiah Bamu, Sikhala indicated that he wanted the court proceedings to be stayed pending his application for review of Harare magistrates Mrs Tafadzwa Miti’s decision to dismiss his application for her recusal.

Yesterday, Sikhala told the court that he had since filed the application for review at the High Court and wanted to make a request for temporary stay of proceedings pending the upper court’s determination.

He said he intended to file the request on February 8.

The State led by Mr George Manokore indicated that he will respond to the application on February 13, with the court expected to make a ruling on February 20.

Mrs Miti, in dismissing Sikhala’s application for recusal, noted that he had failed to place reasonable grounds showing apprehension of bias on her part. The court ruled that Sikhala’s fears emanated from grounds surrounding the dismissal of his bail application on changed circumstances and vowed to impartially preside over the matter.

Mrs Miti ruled that the outcome of the trial will be based on evidence adduced during the trial.

Mr Bamu had argued that Mrs Miti had formulated a position towards Sikhala in a ruling dismissing his bail application in changed circumstances.

In his application seeking recusal of Mrs Miti from presiding over the matter, Sikhala claimed the magistrate had already pronounced herself on the merits of the trial before his hearing.

Sikhala claimed that Mrs Miti had already taken a position on his conduct and concluded that he had incited violence in Nyatsime.

He argued that he would not receive a fair trial before Mrs Miti.

The State led by Mr George Manokore had also argued that Mrs Miti’s ruling in dismissing Sikhala’s bail application on changed circumstances had no bearing on the outcome of the trial.

“In casu, the applicant feels that the court has shown through its bail ruling that it has already convicted the applicant,” said Mr Manokore. “However, that was a bail process which has no bearing on the outcome of the trial.

“The applicant is worried that the court held that the accused confirmed that there is now calmness in Nyatsime because the accused is in custody. The accused actually confirmed that and cited that as a change in circumstances.

“Such confirmations are allowed in the bail process under $117A (6) of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act (Chapter 9:07).

“So, if the accused made such confirmations then the court could not ignore such averments or assertions. The court’s ruling as alluded to above is concerned with facts raised during bail application. The court should not ignore such facts since they were raised by the accused himself. That in our view does not show any bias on the person of the court.”

Mr Manokore said there was no reasonable apprehension of bias that could be deduced from the court’s bail ruling.

He said Sikhala wanted to abuse the court processes by applying for the recusal of the magistrate.

Sithole, through his lawyer Mr Oliver Marwa, notified the State that they will apply for separation of trials after the court ruling on Sikhala’s application for temporary stay of proceedings pending High Court determination. -state media

Nakamba Tucks Into Luton Town

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba for the remainder of the season!

Nakamba began his career in his native Zimbabwe before he signed for French side Nancy at the age of 18 after a successful trial in 2012.

Two years later, he played his first match as a professional, starting in a 3-1 home win against Angers. After two appearances for the Ligue 2 outfit, Nakamba signed for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem on a four-year-deal.

The defensive midfielder established himself in Vitesse’s starting eleven during the 2015-16 campaign, and within that same year made his international debut for Zimbabwe.

To date, following his first cap against Malawi, he has represented his country 26 times including at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2017 and once in 2019.

As well as his competition debut in 2017, he played a vital part in Vitesse’s KNVB Beker cup victory against AZ Alkmaar, the first trophy the Dutch side had won in its 125-year history.

Following his time in the Netherlands, Nakamba joined Belgian side Club Brugge that same year and helped them win the Belgian First Division alongside Ethan Horvath, later making five appearances for the club in the Champions League against AS Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.

In 2019, he signed for Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. He made his first Villa appearance against Crewe Alexandra in a 6-1 EFL Cup victory, before making his Premier League debut a month later against West Ham.

Nakamba made 16 appearances in the top-flight last season, and manager Rob Edwards said: “We’re so pleased to be able to bring Marvelous in. That position is one we’ve been looking to fill for a while. I think we’ve got a lot of good midfielders, but not many natural, deep midfield players and I really like what he’s about.

“He’s got a brilliant attitude, great physicality, good quality and I think he really suits the way we play, so he will fit in really well with us.

“He’s had amazing experiences playing in the Premier League and Champions League, and we want him to bring all of that to try to help improve us.

“There are difficult decisions within this window, but everything that we are trying to do is always with an aim to try to keep improving and moving forward, and we feel that being able to get Marvelous in the building to the end of the season is a real coup for us.”

Speaking after finalising his medical at The Brache, Nakamba said: “I’m very happy to be here at Luton Town. I know Henri Lansbury from Aston Villa and Ethan Horvath because I played with him at Club Brugge, so it’s a good feeling to see them again.

“I spoke with the gaffer and he told me about the project of the club and I told him my situation, that it was interesting for me to come over here.

“I think it’s good for the club, great for me and I love the ambition at the club. I’m looking forward to contributing to help the team.” -–-Luton Town

ZANU PF Rules Forever, Says Minister

Minister of State for Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Richard Moyo says no other government besides the one led by Zanu PF will ever rule in Zimbabwe.
The ruling party has been in power since 1980 when the country gained independence from Britain.

Minister Moyo said this while speaking as a guest of honour at the handover of a maternity facility in Mbembesi clinic in Insuza on Friday.

His sentiments come as the country is gearing up for 2023 harmonized elections which are set for July or August this year.

“As Insuza we will never stand alone, you should join others to get development, I am here now and we will work. Many projects are going to come from the government and you shouldn’t sabotage government programs, there won’t be any other government that you will see in Zimbabwe besides the one that is ruling now,” said Minister Moyo.

“Women, if you hear your husband saying they are dreaming of a new government, you should hit them with an elbow, tell them that you have to appease the ancestors as they turn against you.”

Minister Moyo said village heads should join the current wave and the ED affiliates mushrooming throughout the country.

“No President will rule this country besides the one who is there under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, ask yourself this, all organizations are now for ED, if you are village head and still not under Kraal Heads for ED you are behind, councillors for ED, MPs for ED, Mapostori for ED, MaZion for ED, Young women for ED, Vendors for ED, Malayitsha for ED, Pastors for ED, Insuza for ED, everyone now belongs to ED because of his works, he has changed the Zimbabwe which you were saying won’t rise again,” he said.

He also claimed that under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, queues at banks and fuel stations have disappeared.

“If you hear someone saying they were in a bank queue, know that they are lying, Mnangagwa did all this. Even the employees were earning 100 percent RTGS but for now, while we are still experiencing sanctions the employees are getting half RTGS and half United States Dollars, all this is the President’s effort, no other President will do this,” he said.

Moyo added that Insuza is not an Island and hence should imitate what other wards are doing.

“Village heads, you are the ones leading people, lead them in the right direction, don’t mislead them, show them where there is life and no life will be there besides the ruling President,” he said.

“If you see yourself supporting an aspiring president, you are lost, President Mnangagwa won’t support someone who wants to remove him, when you are a leader too make sure no one removes you, if you think it’s okay for Mnangagwa to be removed from power, we should also remove you where you are, so let us do our corrections as Insuza and allow development from Central government in the new dispensation,” said Moyo.- CITE

CCC Councillors Scoop Top Awards

Accessible, Available, and Responsive councilors honored in Masvingo

Results from community scorecards showcased that councilors Sengerai Manyanga (ward 10), Admore Dhemba (ward 16), and Peter Imbayarwo (ward 19) were the best councilors in Masvingo Urban, Masvingo Rural, and Zaka Rural district councils, respectively, for the year 2022.

Zimcelebs In Trouble Over ‘Defamatory’ Kambucha Post

Zanu PF Declares War If Mnangagwa Loses To Chamisa

By-Zanu PF has declared war against the opposition if its leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa loses this year’s elections.

The party’s secretary for security, Lovemore Matuke, declared that they would never relinquish power even if the opposition is declared the winner.

Matuke said this over the weekend in Masvingo where the party held its provincial co-ordinating committee meeting.
Involvement of the international community is another strategy by the opposition for peaceful transition.” Newsday

Tsvangirai Former Aide Nails Chamisa

By-Former MDC legislator Eddie Cross said that former First Lady Grace Mugabe bankrolled opposition leader Nelson Chamisa’s 2018 presidential bid.

During the 2018 harmonised elections, Chamisa contested under the MDC Alliance ticket but now leads the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, an outfit he created in January last year after being elbowed out of MDC Alliance by Douglas Mwonzora.
Newsday

The Warriors international is no longer wanted at Aston Villa and coach Unai Emery recently told him that he can leave the club in this transfer window.

The 29-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game this season after falling out of favour.

His last appearance for Villa came against Manchester City in the final day of the 2021/22 season

Nakamba’s agent David Manasseh confirmed on Monday that he was working on finding the player a new club before Tuesday’s transfer window deadline.

It has now emerged an English Championship club West Brom are interested in the player.

Reports in England have suggested that the second-tier side is exploring the possibility of snapping up the midfielder on a loan deal.

Talks are set to continue through the day before the window closes at night.

Unnamed EPL clubs are also monitoring Nakamba’s situation.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Messi Says Argentina Received Fake Trophy?

Cervical Cancer Curable At Early Stage

Wrestling Legend Hulk Hogan Struggles With Poor Health

WWE legend Kurt Angle has claimed Hulk Hogan needs a cane to walk and ‘can’t feel anything’ in his lower body.

The two Hall of Famers were reunited backstage at the recent Raw XXX anniversary episode celebrating 30 years of the iconic wrestling show, and Angle, 54, reflected on his interactions with Hogan, 69, backstage.

Hopewell Chin’ono On Twitter Falsely Accuses Nelson Chamisa Saying He’s Never Told Anyone To Go Register

Chinono’ tweet on 1 Jan

By Farai D Hove | Film maker Hopewell Chin’ono’s comments to a suspected ZANU PF spy accusing CCC leader Nelson Chamisa of failing to tell supporters to go register to vote, were on Monday disproved as evidence emerged that Chamisa has done very opposite over a thousand times.

In a 33 minute audio which went viral, Chin’ono is heard saying, the CCC is splitting and Chamisa is incompetent because he has failed to tell people to go register to vote.

“He(Chamisa) spends time tweeting Bible verses instead of telling people go register to vote,” says Chin’ono to the man, audibly identified as Bruce.

Chin’ono then says, ” he himself (Chamisa) did not even come out to tell people to go register.”

A large database of live videos shows that in 2022, alone, Chamisa personally commissioned 964 meetings, and he is on various footage loudly urging and ordering people to go register to vote. 62 of these meetings were either disrupted of cancelled by ZANU PF authorities and some violently crushed. Many party members were killed during Chamisa’s campaigns for people to register to vote.

Chin’ono would later in January publicly announce on Twitter that the CCC and its leader, Chamisa, have not launched any voter registration campaign programs.

“The opposition hasn’t yet mounted an official voter registration campaign, yet it wants power.

“On this day, nothing has changed yet from yesterday, 2022,” he said on Twitter on 1 Jan 2023.

Chin’ono has confirmed the viral 33 minute audio as he joined his colleague Kuda Musasiwa on Twitter in saying there is no new information in the leaked audio.

“Vanopenga ava Mhofu! The level of desperation is embarrassing!,” said Chin’ono conjoining to, ” It’s absolute stupidity that someone “leaks” voice recording of @daddyhope when his free thoughts are always freely available on his personal timeline. When I want to know what Daddy Hope thinks I’ll look at his timeline. Not some clandestine “sting” with zero new information!”

To this, Musasiwa then said Chin’ono should not be afraid to speak his mind.

“Absolute madness. I have never seen you afraid to speak for yourself.

“Any(way) f*** them. Desperation,” he wrote.

Sponsorship For Mining: Factors To Consider

By A Correspondent| Lack of sound sponsorship and basic empowerment skills are among the main problems affecting artisanal miners.

NGO Rewards Hardworking Councillors In Masvingo

Rutendo Matinyarare Escaped To Europe?

Eddie Cross Confirms Mnangagwa Is Not Wanted By Everybody

Economist and former opposition legislator Eddie Cross has confirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is not loved by anyone after revealing that in the 2018 elections, former first lady Grace Mugabe bankrolled the opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

Addressing a Chief Executive Officers Roundtable meeting in Harare last week, Cross, who is also former MDC opposition legislator (Bulawayo South) said in 2018 Mnangagwa faced opposition from everybody.

Sikhala’s Trial Moving Fast As State Calls Last Witness

THE State’s last witness in the trial of Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala (CCC) for allegedly inciting public violence sometime in 2018, yesterday claimed that the video evidence showed the opposition Member of Parliament inciting violence.

Detective Victor Mukowa claimed in court yesterday that he had known Sikhala for more than 10 years.

“When I was tasked with this case, I watched several videos and audios of the accused who I can conclude was inciting public violence. I took the video and audio evidence so that it can be analysed by experts in the CID. I watched them on YouTube and the ZimEye website and paid attention to them. Mr Sikhala used words like ‘fight, war’ in the video which displayed a hidden meaning,” Mukowa told the court.

A video was then played in court which showed Sikhala seated and talking while eating.

“After I viewed the recording, I saw that only one message was intended by the accused; and that was to fight, and that if people do not fight, they will die. By telling others to go to war, Mr Sikhala was advocating for violence, and he was also advocating for people outside the country to fight.

“He seemed like a man who would do anything to get what he wanted in the video. I was motivated by the Oxford dictionary and that is why I know what the words ‘war’ and ‘fight’ mean. Sikhala was asking people to go and task other embassies to come and influence us.”

Mukowa said his investigations of the video of Sikhala eating in the bushes showed that he was running away from the police.

He said in the video Sikhala urged Zimbabweans in South Africa to cross the borders and fight, which encouraged violence.

“In the recordings, it is evident that it’s the accused because the ZimEye interviewer keeps calling him by his title and name, and I don’t know of any other MP from Zengeza called Job Sikhala,” Makowa said.

Sikhala’s lawyer Harrison Nkomo said more time would be needed to cross-examine Mukowa.

The matter was then postponed to February 6 for continuation of trial.

Mnangagwa Clashes With His POLAD Friends Over Delimitation

“We emphasise that the total and final population figures from the 2022 census must be taken into account.

“The delimitation process must be an opportunity for Zimbabweans to demonstrate their commitment to peace, political dialogue, constitutionalism, democratic participation by citizens and respect for the rule of law.”

Bulawayo-based political analyst Effie Ncube said the divisions at Zec were not a good sign.

“The fact that other commissioners, the majority for that matter, distanced themselves from the report while only two commissioners were for the report is not a good sign for the efficient, effective and smooth functioning of such a crucial constitutional body,” Ncube said.

“There is a need for them to quickly learn and implement the art of consensus building and democratic decision making.

“More than anybody else, it is the chairperson who must show leadership and make sure there is internal unity.

“Zec is one of the institutions and agencies which determine whether the country holds a free and fair election.

“Therefore, the country cannot ignore what is happening there.”

Meanwhile, Chigumba is said to be heavily relying on the Zec secretariat to finalise the delimitation report as the seven commissioners remain frozen out.

The ‘rebellious’ commissioners are Rosewita Murutare, Kudzai Shava, Jane Mbetu-Nzvenga, Shepherd Manhivi, Abigail Mohadi, Jasper Mangwana and Catherine Mpofu.

They wrote to Mnangagwa and Parliament accusing Chigumba and her deputy Rodney Simukai Kiwa of unilaterally imposing the delimitation report on the electoral body .

Chigumba referred all questions to Zec CEO Utoile Silaigwana who had not responded to questions sent to him by the time of going to print.

ZEC spokesperson Mangwana requested questions in writing, but did not respond as well.

Paddy Zhanda’s Son Arrested for Bashing Workers, Own Victims Also Arrested

HARARE – The son of former minister Paddy Zhanda was charged with three counts of assault on Monday after he was filmed flogging three farm workers, including two women, while accusing them of stealing.

Police said 40 year old Paddy Zhanda Jnr, of Chipfumbi Farm in Goromonzi, made an initial court appearance at the Harare Magistrates Court after the three workers filed complaints over the January 26 incident.

“The ZRP confirms that Paddy Zhanda, 40, has been arrested and appeared in court today facing three counts of assault,” police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.

Nyathi said the three workers Dickson Nyatadzi, 34, Nyasha Salamani, 30, and Loveness Madziva, 29, had also been arrested after Zhanda accused them of stealing 150kg of potatoes from the farm.

“Employers are warned against taking the law into their own hands when workers commit crime,” Nyathi added.

Nakamba Leaves Aston Villa For Championship Side Luton Town

Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba is undergoing a medical with Luton Town ahead of a proposed loan move, John Percy has reported.

Luton Town are in the market for a new face or two before tonight’s 11pm cut-off point and it will be hoped quick progress can be made to avoid any late drama at Kenilworth Road.

Now, it seems one man who will be inbound is Aston Villa’s Zimbabwean international Marvelous Nakamba.

Trusted reporter John Percy has said on Twitter that the midfielder is now undergoing a medical with the Hatters ahead of a proposed loan deal that will see him spend the rest of the season under Rob Edwards’ management.

West Brom were claimed to have entered talks over a deal for Nakamba just yesterday, but it seems he’s now bound for Luton Town as he undergoes the necessary medical checks.

Nakamba hasn’t played at all this season at Villa Park and it seems he’s not in the plans of Unai Emery either.

ZEC In Secret Pact With Mnangagwa

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has declined to disclose the recommendations that President Emmerson Mnangagwa (ED) made on its controversial preliminary delimitation report.

Zec told NewsDay yesterday that authority to get Mnangagwa’s views on the report publicised could only be sought from the Office of the President and Cabinet.

This has raised questions over the electoral body’s independence.

On January 23, Mnangagwa submitted his recommendations on the preliminary delimitation report to Zec, but they have remained under wraps, while Parliament’s recommendations have been made public.

When NewsDay requested for a copy of Mnangagwa’s recommendations, Zec chief elections officer Utloile Silaigwana initially demanded the questions in writing, but later said he was not authorised to release the recommendations to the media.

“You must put your request in writing,” Silaigwana said.

“But why would you need the (President’s) recommendations? This is an issue that is above us. In fact, I cannot give you, I am not authorised to give you the recommendations.”

However, constitutional law expert and Political Actors Dialogue member Lovemore Madhuku said Mnangagwa’s recommendations should be made public since he is an interested party in the elections.

“This is because the President did not make the recommendations as a private citizen, but as the President,” Madhuku said.

“The Constitution puts the President at the same level with Parliament, and we are aware that Parliament’s recommendations were made public. If he was advised properly, he ought to have gazetted his recommendations. Zec also ought to publicise those recommendations. I would not want to attribute the secrecy to a sinister motive, but just that he (Mnangagwa) is not being advised properly.”

Observers said transparency on the communication between Zec and Mnangagwa was key in demistifying the electoral process.

“The secrecy on Mnangagwa’s recommendations to Zec adds to the questions on Zec’s credibility to run elections,” political analyst Eldred Masunungure said.

“Zec is a constitutional commission which should be guided by accountability and transparency. Communication between Zec and the President on the delimitations process — a public process — is of public interest. The report from the parliamentary ad-hoc committee was publicised. Therefore, the secrecy on Mnangagwa’s recommendations breathes unnecessary suspicions that probably the President instructed Zec to do some machinations that will help him win elections since he is also a candidate in the upcoming election. It is also important to note that the President is in a public office.”

Another analyst Vivid Gwede said: “The gist of the matter in the delimitation process is about transparency and accountability. Delimitation is a public process that determines boundaries of constituencies and local authority wards, and it directly affects the electorate. Therefore, every bit and piece of information of the process is very crucial for the public. It is the duty of the Presidium and the Executive to be transparent.”

Contacted for comment, Zec spokesperson Jasper Mangwana referred questions to the electoral management body’s chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba.

Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba was not picking calls yesterday.

Zec is expected to deliver its final delimitation report by February 26, but Chigumba said the commission was working towards releasing a draft report this week.

NewsDay gathers that Zec’s report will be final and will not be subject to scrutiny by the lawmakers again before Mnangagwa gazettes it, although constitutional experts argue that the documents can still be challenged in a court of law.

Zec is currently battling to deal with the fallout among its commissioners after seven out of nine of them disowned the preliminary delimitation report which Justice Chigumba handed to Mnangagwa early this month.

By A Correspondent- A 21 year old man from Chidende Village in Hwedza has appeared before Marondera Magistrate Court Mr Ignatius Mhene facing allegations of rɑp!ng an 11-year-old girl who was on her way to school.

Prosecuting, Ms Sharmaine Mwangira told the court that on January 23, the minor was on her way to school and the accused, Moses Munyoro (21) who was dressed like woman while covering his face with a cloth, approached the complainant and dragged her into a bushy and hilly area.

The court also heard that the accused covered the juvenile’s mouth with a piece of cloth and drew a knife before he instructed her to removǝ her clothes.

He rɑpǝd her until he heard voices of the complainant’s mother and her neighbour calling out the complainant’s name.

Upon hearing voices, Munyoro relieved himself and exposed his face.

Muvevi Faces Rape Charges

By-Former CID official, Jaison Muvevi, has lost two luxury cars to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) on the suspicion that he skipped tax.

The police are also investigating an attempted rape case against Muvevi.
A background check on Muvevi by the Standard revealed that he has a pending court case of attempted rape.
They said the former Central Investigations Department officer, who was in the minerals department and was once deployed at the rich Chiadzwa diamond fields, allegedly attempted to rape a real estate agency employee who was showing him a house for rent.
Muvevi allegedly tried to lure the woman with money while in the house, but was turned down.
He allegedly attempted to force himself on the woman, but she managed to escape and report the case.
“The matter is still pending before the courts,” the source disclosed.
His lawyer in the case refused to comment.
The attempted rape case allegedly happened when Muvevi was looking for a house to rent in Harare after he abandoned his family in Zvishavane last year.
He was allegedly running away from his landlord, who is a medical doctor, after he failed to repay a US$20 000 loan. The landlord reported him to the police.
“The police, who went to him after the doctor reported him to the police discovered that he had two vehicles, a 2017 Land Cruiser S200 and a Toyota Fortuner GD6,” one of his family members said.
The police officers raised alarm and Zimra investigations revealed that duty for his cars was undervalued.
The duty for the Land Cruiser, which often ranges between US$40 000 and US$50 000, was pegged at US$20 000.
Zimra seized the car towards the end of last year, while the Toyota Fortuner had been taken earlier.
The authority refused to comment on Muvevi’s cars citing confidentiality issues.
“Client specific information is protected under the secrecy provisions of the Customs and Excise Act and Revenue Authority Act,” Zimra spokesperson Gladman Njanji told Standard People.

Eddie Cross Spills The Beans?

By A Correspondent- Economist and former opposition legislator Eddie Cross has claimed that former First Lady Grace Mugabe bankrolled opposition leader Nelson Chamisa’s 2018 presidential bid.

Sadc [Southern African Development Community] observers came and flew around in a helicopter and they saw what was going on the ground and went back to the State House and they said to Mugabe, it’s over, the people have spoken and it was the people’s response to the coup which legitimised the change of government.”

Maid Torments Senior Wife

By A Correspondent- Most polygam0us families have distinct household problems, usually stemming from jeal0us co-wives.

Due to this jealous, two Mutasa women who are in a polygam0us mɑrriɑge are at each other’s throats, resulting in the senior wife applying for a protection order against her husband’s second wife.

The junior wife, Linda Bonyongwa, who was once the family’s domestic worker before she was imprǝgnated by her employer’s husband, stands accused of insulting the first wife and destroying Rutendo Mudumo’s property.

She also stands accused of looting groceries from Mudumo’s Manica Bridge shop.

Mudumo approached the Mutare Civil Magistrate Court applying for a protection order against Bonyongwa.

Mudumo said Bonyongwa is disturbing her peace by insulting her over the phone and sometimes visiting her place of residence to insult and humiliate her in the presence of other people.

“Bonyongwa was our maid for five years before she was imprǝgnated by my husband. She left her employment and my husband secured her alternative accommodation. My husband would visit her occasionally until he formalised their union, with Bonyongwa becoming his second official wife.

After that, Bonyongwa started calling me over the phone to insult me. She is also in the habit of visiting my shop ad taking groceries without paying. When I ask her to pay for the groceries, she refuses, saying it is our husband’s shop and that she should also benefit. She says she cannot starve when there is food in the shop,” said Mudumo.

She said it was not her first time to apply for a protection order against Bonyongwa.

“I have been in this court before applying for protection orders against Bonyongwa. She abides by the protection orders, but starts harassing me again as soon as they lapse. I am pleading with this court to stop her from coming to my shop to take my groceries, harass and insult me. She should also not disturb my peace. If she wants her own shop, then our husband should open one for her,” said Mudumo.

Bonyongwa defaulted the court hearing and a default protection order was granted in Mudumo’s favour by Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato.

The protection order is valid for five years and Bonyongwa was ordered not to insult, harass and disturb Mudumo’s peace.

The order also bars her from going to the Mberi shop at Manica Bridge which belongs to Mudumo.
