Zanu PF Declares War If Mnangagwa Loses To Chamisa

By-Zanu PF has declared war against the opposition if its leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa loses this year’s elections.

The party’s secretary for security, Lovemore Matuke, declared that they would never relinquish power even if the opposition is declared the winner.

Matuke said this over the weekend in Masvingo where the party held its provincial co-ordinating committee meeting.
Matuke bragged that Zanu PF had already won the elections.
“We have an absolute win this year, we have already set our ball rolling and we are winning the elections without fail,” he bragged.
“We want to win it in a peaceful way. We will never dream of losing elections that we already won. There is nothing called losing an election in Zanu PF. We are focusing on how we will lead Zimbabwe after elections, and we cannot lose an election. I will not comment about power transfer. Zanu PF will be giving it to whom? We have to consolidate our power. People died and some disappeared for the country’s liberation.”
The country is set to hold harmonised elections in July or August this year.
Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chairperson Robson Mavengengwa said the ruling party was confident that it would get over 600 000 votes in Masvingo province alone.
In response, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the opposition party would challenge any breaches of the Constitution pertaining to smooth transfer of power in the event of an opposition victory in this year’s elections.
“We are going to leave no constitutional stone unturned in the fight to win Zimbabwe for change and install ethical leaders and a competent government led by Nelson Chamisa,” Mahere said.
Political analyst Rashweat Mukundu said: “The Constitution of Zimbabwe must be respected and Zanu PF must hand over power to any newly-elected government. Any resistance will be dealt with using the law. Involvement of the international community is another strategy by the opposition for peaceful transition.” Newsday

Tsvangirai Former Aide Nails Chamisa

By-Former MDC legislator Eddie Cross said that former First Lady Grace Mugabe bankrolled opposition leader Nelson Chamisa’s 2018 presidential bid.

During the 2018 harmonised elections, Chamisa contested under the MDC Alliance ticket but now leads the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, an outfit he created in January last year after being elbowed out of MDC Alliance by Douglas Mwonzora.
The 2018 elections were held after the removal from power of the late former President Robert Mugabe by President Emmerson Mnangagwa through a military-assisted coup.
Addressing a Chief Executive Officers Roundtable meeting in Harare last week, Cross, who is also former MDC opposition legislator (Bulawayo South) said in 2018 Mnangagwa faced opposition from everybody.
“Mrs Mugabe financed Chamisa so that he defeats Emmerson and eventually Emmerson abandoned everything and concentrated on winning the elections, and thank God he did because if he hadn’t spent the next four or five months fighting the elections, he could have lost the election. As it is, he won it by 300 000 votes, and when he won that election, he then sorted the problems inside his government — all 20 ministers were Emmerson’s people,” Cross said.
But CCC deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba said: “Eddie is trying by all means to be more Zanu than Zanu PF people themselves. He is a delusional man who will do anything to get a seat in the gravy train.”
Added Cross: “It was all in that meeting with Members of Parliament (to impeach Mugabe in 2017) and in 15 minutes we couldn’t get out of the hotel. There were a quarter of a million people outside that hotel. I couldn’t push the door to find my way out. It was the response of the people that legitimised the change of government. I tried to go to the rally in Highfields that day, but we could not get within three miles, it was just packed with millions of people.
“Sadc [Southern African Development Community] observers came and flew around in a helicopter and they saw what was going on the ground and went back to the State House and they said to Mugabe, it’s over, the people have spoken and it was the people’s response to the coup which legitimised the change of government.”
Cross said the country incurred a huge deficit during Mugabe’s reign, and money was printed to cover the deficit.
He said Zimbabwe’s fiscal deficit was 40% of the budget which prompted Mugabe’s administration to continue printing money.
Cross said after winning the 2013 elections against MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai at the end of the four-year inclusive government, Mugabe re-assumed full control of government and accrued a debilitating fiscal deficit.
“By 2017, the fiscal deficit was 40% of the budget, how do you run a country like that? We had US$23 million in our bank accounts which we called United States dollars but it wasn’t United States dollars. It was there because Mugabe was printing money to cover the deficit. We were headed for the rocks again and that was when Mnangagwa decided the change of government was necessary, and on the 17th of November, the transition took place. I was actually still in Parliament. I sat at the Harare International Conference Centre waiting to impeach the old man, and then in walked a messenger with Mugabe’s letter of resignation,” Cross said. Newsday

Nakamba Leaves Aston Villa

Marvelous Nakamba is set to complete his move away from Aston Villa before the end of the transfer window today.

The Warriors international is no longer wanted at Aston Villa and coach Unai Emery recently told him that he can leave the club in this transfer window.

The 29-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game this season after falling out of favour.

His last appearance for Villa came against Manchester City in the final day of the 2021/22 season

Nakamba’s agent David Manasseh confirmed on Monday that he was working on finding the player a new club before Tuesday’s transfer window deadline.

It has now emerged an English Championship club West Brom are interested in the player.

Reports in England have suggested that the second-tier side is exploring the possibility of snapping up the midfielder on a loan deal.

Talks are set to continue through the day before the window closes at night.

Unnamed EPL clubs are also monitoring Nakamba’s situation.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Messi Says Argentina Received Fake Trophy?

Lionel Messi has revealed that he was not sure if his Argentina team paraded a legitimate World Cup trophy, or it was merely a replica.

The Albiceleste won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after beating France on penalties in the final.

The South Americans then embarked on a prolonged period of celebrations posing with the iconic trophy in their home country.

Messi, who led Argentina to their third World Cup triumph, was not convinced with the trophy they paraded back home.

“I don’t know why there was a mess with the Cup,” the superstar told Argentine journalist Andy Kusnetzoff in an interview carried by MD. “I raised the good one and later in the celebrations there was half a mess.

“We didn’t know if it was the real one or not, but she (the trophy) had already been the first with my companions. It’s heavy.”

The 35-year-old added: “I saw it there and I couldn’t not do what I did. Because she called me, the Cup called me. She’s done, come grab me now I can touch her.

“Did you see that they say that if you don’t win you can’t touch it, look at it. I saw her there, shining, startling in that beautiful stadium, and I didn’t think about it.”

Traditionally, FIFA allows the winning team to parade the original World Cup Trophy before return it.

The winners will then get a replica which will keep forever.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Cervical Cancer Curable At Early Stage

Key facts

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally, with an estimated 604 000 new cases and 342 000 deaths in 2020.

About 90% of the new cases and deaths worldwide in 2020 occurred in low- and middle-income countries (1).

Two human papillomavirus (HPV) types (16 and 18) are responsible for nearly 50% of high grade cervical pre-cancers
HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity. More than 90% of them clear the infection eventually.

Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV.

Vaccination against HPV and screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions is a cost-effective way to prevent cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly.

Comprehensive cervical cancer control includes primary prevention (vaccination against HPV), secondary prevention (screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions), tertiary prevention (diagnosis and treatment of invasive cervical cancer) and palliative care.

Overview

Worldwide, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women with an estimated 604 000 new cases in 2020. Of the estimated 342 000 deaths from cervical cancer in 2020, about 90% of these occur in low- and middle-income countries. Women living with HIV are 6 times more likely to develop cervical cancer compared to women without HIV, and an estimated 5% of all cervical cancer cases are attributable to HIV (2). Moreover, in all world regions the contribution of HIV to cervical cancer falls disproportionately on younger women.

In high-income countries, programmes are in place which enable girls to be vaccinated against HPV and women to get screened regularly and treated adequately. Screening allows pre-cancerous lesions to be identified at stages when they can easily be treated.

In low-and middle-income countries, there is limited access to these preventative measures and cervical cancer is often not identified until it has further advanced and symptoms develop. In addition, access to treatment of cancerous lesions (for example, cancer surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) may be limited, resulting in a higher rate of death from cervical cancer in these countries.

The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally (age standardized rate among women: 13.3/100 000 in 2020) could be reduced by effective interventions at different stages of life.

HPV and cervical cancer
A large majority of cervical cancer (more than 95%) is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

HPV is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. Most sexually active women and men will be infected at some point in their lives, and some may be repeatedly infected. More than 90% of the infected populations eventually clear the infection.

Cervical cancer is by far the most common HPV-related disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to HPV infection.

Although most HPV infections clear up on their own and most pre-cancerous lesions resolve spontaneously, there is a risk for all women that HPV infection may become chronic and pre-cancerous lesions progress to invasive cervical cancer.

It takes 15 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop in women with normal immune systems. It can take only 5 to 10 years in women with weakened immune systems, such as those with untreated HIV infection.

Cervical cancer control: a comprehensive approach
The Global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2020, recommends a comprehensive approach to cervical cancer prevention and control. The recommended actions include interventions across the life course.

Wrestling Legend Hulk Hogan Struggles With Poor Health

WWE legend Kurt Angle has claimed Hulk Hogan needs a cane to walk and ‘can’t feel anything’ in his lower body.

The two Hall of Famers were reunited backstage at the recent Raw XXX anniversary episode celebrating 30 years of the iconic wrestling show, and Angle, 54, reflected on his interactions with Hogan, 69, backstage.

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, he said: ‘Hogan had his back surgery again. He had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can’t feel his lower body, so he has to use his cane to walk around.

‘I thought he was using the cane because he has pain in his back. He doesn’t have any pain. He has nothing at all. Furthermore, he can’t feel anything.

‘So now he can’t feel his legs, so he has to walk with a cane. That’s pretty serious, man. I mean, I really feel for Hogan. He put his heart and soul into the business, and it ate him up.’

The 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist also reflected on WWE’s decision to have Hogan, flanked by his long-time friend Jimmy Hart and walking the short distance unaided, open the anniversary show last week.

‘I mean, if you’re gonna kick off the show, the 30th anniversary of Raw, [it] should be Hulk Hogan. He’s the name and face of the company,’ Angle added. ‘He’s the guy that revolutionised pro wrestling. I have so much respect for him.’

Hogan is yet to publicly comment on his health.

Back in 2020, he revealed a scar caused by his 10th back surgery, with a lot of his health issues stemming from a wrestling career lasting from 1977 to 2012.

He tweeted three years ago: ‘They said 4 months lightweight than 6 months I could train slowly again after back surgery number 10, buuuttt at 7 weeks 4 days my MANIACS can see I’m on the grind with my pizump on brother!

Over the past decade, Hogan has undergone 17 surgeries.

Hopewell Chin’ono On Twitter Falsely Accuses Nelson Chamisa Saying He’s Never Told Anyone To Go Register

Chinono’ tweet on 1 Jan

By Farai D Hove | Film maker Hopewell Chin’ono’s comments to a suspected ZANU PF spy accusing CCC leader Nelson Chamisa of failing to tell supporters to go register to vote, were on Monday disproved as evidence emerged that Chamisa has done very opposite over a thousand times.

In a 33 minute audio which went viral, Chin’ono is heard saying, the CCC is splitting and Chamisa is incompetent because he has failed to tell people to go register to vote.

“He(Chamisa) spends time tweeting Bible verses instead of telling people go register to vote,” says Chin’ono to the man, audibly identified as Bruce.

Chin’ono then says, ” he himself (Chamisa) did not even come out to tell people to go register.”

A large database of live videos shows that in 2022, alone, Chamisa personally commissioned 964 meetings, and he is on various footage loudly urging and ordering people to go register to vote. 62 of these meetings were either disrupted of cancelled by ZANU PF authorities and some violently crushed. Many party members were killed during Chamisa’s campaigns for people to register to vote.

Chin’ono would later in January publicly announce on Twitter that the CCC and its leader, Chamisa, have not launched any voter registration campaign programs.

“The opposition hasn’t yet mounted an official voter registration campaign, yet it wants power.

“On this day, nothing has changed yet from yesterday, 2022,” he said on Twitter on 1 Jan 2023.

Chin’ono has confirmed the viral 33 minute audio as he joined his colleague Kuda Musasiwa on Twitter in saying there is no new information in the leaked audio.

“Vanopenga ava Mhofu! The level of desperation is embarrassing!,” said Chin’ono conjoining to, ” It’s absolute stupidity that someone “leaks” voice recording of @daddyhope when his free thoughts are always freely available on his personal timeline. When I want to know what Daddy Hope thinks I’ll look at his timeline. Not some clandestine “sting” with zero new information!”

To this, Musasiwa then said Chin’ono should not be afraid to speak his mind.

“Absolute madness. I have never seen you afraid to speak for yourself.

“Any(way) f*** them. Desperation,” he wrote.

Sponsorship For Mining: Factors To Consider

By A Correspondent| Lack of sound sponsorship and basic empowerment skills are among the main problems affecting artisanal miners.

Lack of insurance is another factor affecting miners.

In a bid to empower and equip miners with essential skills, Three Wingers Enterprises, a Zimbabwean company that focuses on mining consultancy, has embarked on offering theoretical and practical assistance to miners.

See presentation below:

SMART MINING OR SPONSORSHIP

Artisanal mining is sustained by what is commonly called sponsorship, sponsors bring money , food , diesel , explosives , headgears and expertise.

They either bring all or one of them to help miner owner and workers achieve what they couldn’t do on their own .

Bringing all increases risks of huge loses but decreases chances of losing when you indeed make money . Basically sponsorship is the unrecognised life blood of Artisanal mining directly or indirectly. It ranges from formal agreements, informal written to equipment hire loan , truck loan , milling loan even informal cash loan of mouth watering amounts passed within two parties without any writing on paper .

Those that are usually paid back come with huge profits of over 100% those who are not paid back usually disappear for ever .

We once wanted to do a video documentary of how it disappear or multiple by giving a full recorded mining activity from day one unfortunately resources limited us . In these series we will first list in this article reasons why some of the sponsorship monies are not paid back then cover in detail explain how it works .

REASONS FOR FAILURE TO PAY BACK SPONSORSHIP IN EXACT ORDER
1 under sponsorship
2 lack of knowledge of Artisanal mining
3 improper monitoring tools
4 lack of insurance ( guarantee)
5 hitting a gold dry spell
6 failing to include all parties when signing.

1 UNDER SPONSOR
This is a situation whereby you sponsor with insufficient funds and leave key areas of the transaction to make it a success unattended risking low returns or encouraging other co-sponsors to be included without your knowledge to come in with better understanding of mining thereby taking you out of the picture.
Before you sponsor ask questions that would clearly paint the picture of exactly how much is the total cost of the transaction who covers what and what is expected of you how long it will take ( always multiply their estimated time by 3 ) . Sometimes what the miner owner needs is money for personal use let that be spelled out clearly know what you are getting into most things used at the mine are found in all major towns in Zimbabwe. Inorder to reduce risks look for a mining consultancy company to do analysis and agreements writing for you at a fee .

Below is a general list of first level mining and general prices then lastly available ongoing mines ready for sponsorships
1 compressor hire 10% of proceeds
2diesel 200litres
3 explosives set 3boxes 1000usd
4 Food 150usd
5 Petty cash 100usd
6 ore transportation and permits paid after process .

List of sponsorship opportunities
1 mining consultant company 3000usd long term engagement terms discussed
2 repairing tanks 1500usd longterm with minimum returns 300usd per month .

3 explosives and diesel x 4mines
4 mine open full scale joint venture open budget
5 Lithium mines both joint venture and purchase.

NGO Rewards Hardworking Councillors In Masvingo

Accessible, Available, and Responsive councilors honored in Masvingo

Results from community scorecards showcased that councilors Sengerai Manyanga (ward 10), Admore Dhemba (ward 16), and Peter Imbayarwo (ward 19) were the best councilors in Masvingo Urban, Masvingo Rural, and Zaka Rural district councils, respectively, for the year 2022.

The community scorecards were administered by 158 COTRAD Action for Accountability Groups (AAGs) members drawn from 79 wards.

10 wards were targeted in Masvingo Urban District, while 34 wards were targeted in Zaka district and 35 in Masvingo Rural district.

The scorecards measured determinants and predictors of accessibility, availability, and responsiveness of ward councilors between January and December 2022. A monthly score was provided and an average was calculated during the 12th month.

For the purposes of the scorecard, accessibility was easy to be reached by the communities they represent and this included physical and online contact.

It referred to geographic accessibility, and was determined by how easily the community reached the councilor be it physically or various online. Availability was the extent to which the councilor participated in citizen engagement platforms such as feedback and consultation meetings in the respective wards.

Responsiveness referred to the approachability and receptiveness of councilors in ensuring that citizens are served helpfully and responsibly by local authorities. This was dependent on citizens’ experiences when receiving public services.

Findings indicate a need for elected officials to be accessible, available, and responsive. The three councilors were best in their respective wards, but however, the scores were very low.

The three were presented with certificates.- COTRAD Information

Eddie Cross Confirms Mnangagwa Is Not Wanted By Everybody

Addressing a Chief Executive Officers Roundtable meeting in Harare last week, Cross, who is also former MDC opposition legislator (Bulawayo South) said in 2018 Mnangagwa faced opposition from everybody.

Sikhala’s Trial Moving Fast As State Calls Last Witness

THE State’s last witness in the trial of Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala (CCC) for allegedly inciting public violence sometime in 2018, yesterday claimed that the video evidence showed the opposition Member of Parliament inciting violence.

Detective Victor Mukowa claimed in court yesterday that he had known Sikhala for more than 10 years.

“When I was tasked with this case, I watched several videos and audios of the accused who I can conclude was inciting public violence. I took the video and audio evidence so that it can be analysed by experts in the CID. I watched them on YouTube and the ZimEye website and paid attention to them. Mr Sikhala used words like ‘fight, war’ in the video which displayed a hidden meaning,” Mukowa told the court.

A video was then played in court which showed Sikhala seated and talking while eating.

“After I viewed the recording, I saw that only one message was intended by the accused; and that was to fight, and that if people do not fight, they will die. By telling others to go to war, Mr Sikhala was advocating for violence, and he was also advocating for people outside the country to fight.

“He seemed like a man who would do anything to get what he wanted in the video. I was motivated by the Oxford dictionary and that is why I know what the words ‘war’ and ‘fight’ mean. Sikhala was asking people to go and task other embassies to come and influence us.”

Mukowa said his investigations of the video of Sikhala eating in the bushes showed that he was running away from the police.

He said in the video Sikhala urged Zimbabweans in South Africa to cross the borders and fight, which encouraged violence.

“In the recordings, it is evident that it’s the accused because the ZimEye interviewer keeps calling him by his title and name, and I don’t know of any other MP from Zengeza called Job Sikhala,” Makowa said.

Sikhala’s lawyer Harrison Nkomo said more time would be needed to cross-examine Mukowa.

The matter was then postponed to February 6 for continuation of trial.

Mnangagwa Clashes With His POLAD Friends Over Delimitation

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s allies that are members of a platform ostensibly set up to improve the country’s electoral environment after the disputed 2018 polls have turned their swords on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) after it produced a contentious delimitation report.

Zec is finalising the delimitation report after a parliamentary ad-hoc committee raised a number of alleged anomalies in the delimitation process.

The Political Actors Dialogue (Polad), which is composed of fringe opposition party leaders that contested the 2018 polls and was set up by Mnangagwa, said the divisions in Zec that arose after the draft delimitation report did not bode well for credible elections.

Seven commissioners refused to append their signatures to the report after claiming that it violated the constitution. The commissioners accused Zec chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba of not consulting them.

Chigumba cut a lone figure during appearances in Parliament and at State House where she received Mnangagwa’s recommendations on the delimitation report last week.

Polad’s governance and legislative agenda chairperson Lovemore Madhuku said there must be evidence that the delimitation outcome was a collective effort from Zec commissioners.

“The preliminary delimitation report doesn’t pass the test set out in the constitution. Polad regards it as a failure on the part of Zec,” Madhuku said.

“Polad is concerned about the internal governance of Zec. Under our constitution, Zec is a corporate body consisting of nine commissioners.

“The delimitation process cannot be the work of one or two commissioners; there must be clear evidence that all commissioners are involved at every stage of the process.

“This is essential for the integrity and credibility of Zec. Polad would like to see public appearances of Zec commissioners at all platforms where Zec is either presenting to, or receiving from, the president reports relating to the delimitation process.

“Zec must use all the remaining stages to demonstrate in public the involvement of all commissioners.”

Since it was set up, Polad has been measured in its criticism of Mnangagwa’s administration and institutions such as Zec. Its heavy rebuke of the commission could indicate that it has achieved little in its efforts to change Zimbabwe’s election landscape.

Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa, who narrowly lost to Mnangagwa in the disputed 2018 polls refused to join Polad saying it was a waste of time.

Madhuku said Polad also queried the formula used by Zec in drawing constituency boundaries.

“We emphasise that the total and final population figures from the 2022 census must be taken into account.

“The delimitation process must be an opportunity for Zimbabweans to demonstrate their commitment to peace, political dialogue, constitutionalism, democratic participation by citizens and respect for the rule of law.”

Bulawayo-based political analyst Effie Ncube said the divisions at Zec were not a good sign.

“The fact that other commissioners, the majority for that matter, distanced themselves from the report while only two commissioners were for the report is not a good sign for the efficient, effective and smooth functioning of such a crucial constitutional body,” Ncube said.

“There is a need for them to quickly learn and implement the art of consensus building and democratic decision making.

“More than anybody else, it is the chairperson who must show leadership and make sure there is internal unity.

“Zec is one of the institutions and agencies which determine whether the country holds a free and fair election.

“Therefore, the country cannot ignore what is happening there.”

Meanwhile, Chigumba is said to be heavily relying on the Zec secretariat to finalise the delimitation report as the seven commissioners remain frozen out.

The ‘rebellious’ commissioners are Rosewita Murutare, Kudzai Shava, Jane Mbetu-Nzvenga, Shepherd Manhivi, Abigail Mohadi, Jasper Mangwana and Catherine Mpofu.

They wrote to Mnangagwa and Parliament accusing Chigumba and her deputy Rodney Simukai Kiwa of unilaterally imposing the delimitation report on the electoral body .

Chigumba referred all questions to Zec CEO Utoile Silaigwana who had not responded to questions sent to him by the time of going to print.

ZEC spokesperson Mangwana requested questions in writing, but did not respond as well.

Paddy Zhanda’s Son Arrested for Bashing Workers, Own Victims Also Arrested

HARARE – The son of former minister Paddy Zhanda was charged with three counts of assault on Monday after he was filmed flogging three farm workers, including two women, while accusing them of stealing.

Police said 40 year old Paddy Zhanda Jnr, of Chipfumbi Farm in Goromonzi, made an initial court appearance at the Harare Magistrates Court after the three workers filed complaints over the January 26 incident.

“The ZRP confirms that Paddy Zhanda, 40, has been arrested and appeared in court today facing three counts of assault,” police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.

Nyathi said the three workers Dickson Nyatadzi, 34, Nyasha Salamani, 30, and Loveness Madziva, 29, had also been arrested after Zhanda accused them of stealing 150kg of potatoes from the farm.

“Employers are warned against taking the law into their own hands when workers commit crime,” Nyathi added.

Nakamba Leaves Aston Villa For Championship Side Luton Town

Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba is undergoing a medical with Luton Town ahead of a proposed loan move, John Percy has reported.

Luton Town are in the market for a new face or two before tonight’s 11pm cut-off point and it will be hoped quick progress can be made to avoid any late drama at Kenilworth Road.

Now, it seems one man who will be inbound is Aston Villa’s Zimbabwean international Marvelous Nakamba.

Trusted reporter John Percy has said on Twitter that the midfielder is now undergoing a medical with the Hatters ahead of a proposed loan deal that will see him spend the rest of the season under Rob Edwards’ management.

West Brom were claimed to have entered talks over a deal for Nakamba just yesterday, but it seems he’s now bound for Luton Town as he undergoes the necessary medical checks.

Nakamba hasn’t played at all this season at Villa Park and it seems he’s not in the plans of Unai Emery either.

ZEC In Secret Pact With Mnangagwa

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has declined to disclose the recommendations that President Emmerson Mnangagwa (ED) made on its controversial preliminary delimitation report.

Zec told NewsDay yesterday that authority to get Mnangagwa’s views on the report publicised could only be sought from the Office of the President and Cabinet.

This has raised questions over the electoral body’s independence.

On January 23, Mnangagwa submitted his recommendations on the preliminary delimitation report to Zec, but they have remained under wraps, while Parliament’s recommendations have been made public.

When NewsDay requested for a copy of Mnangagwa’s recommendations, Zec chief elections officer Utloile Silaigwana initially demanded the questions in writing, but later said he was not authorised to release the recommendations to the media.

“You must put your request in writing,” Silaigwana said.

“But why would you need the (President’s) recommendations? This is an issue that is above us. In fact, I cannot give you, I am not authorised to give you the recommendations.”

However, constitutional law expert and Political Actors Dialogue member Lovemore Madhuku said Mnangagwa’s recommendations should be made public since he is an interested party in the elections.

“This is because the President did not make the recommendations as a private citizen, but as the President,” Madhuku said.

“The Constitution puts the President at the same level with Parliament, and we are aware that Parliament’s recommendations were made public. If he was advised properly, he ought to have gazetted his recommendations. Zec also ought to publicise those recommendations. I would not want to attribute the secrecy to a sinister motive, but just that he (Mnangagwa) is not being advised properly.”

Observers said transparency on the communication between Zec and Mnangagwa was key in demistifying the electoral process.

“The secrecy on Mnangagwa’s recommendations to Zec adds to the questions on Zec’s credibility to run elections,” political analyst Eldred Masunungure said.

“Zec is a constitutional commission which should be guided by accountability and transparency. Communication between Zec and the President on the delimitations process — a public process — is of public interest. The report from the parliamentary ad-hoc committee was publicised. Therefore, the secrecy on Mnangagwa’s recommendations breathes unnecessary suspicions that probably the President instructed Zec to do some machinations that will help him win elections since he is also a candidate in the upcoming election. It is also important to note that the President is in a public office.”

Another analyst Vivid Gwede said: “The gist of the matter in the delimitation process is about transparency and accountability. Delimitation is a public process that determines boundaries of constituencies and local authority wards, and it directly affects the electorate. Therefore, every bit and piece of information of the process is very crucial for the public. It is the duty of the Presidium and the Executive to be transparent.”

Contacted for comment, Zec spokesperson Jasper Mangwana referred questions to the electoral management body’s chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba.

Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba was not picking calls yesterday.

Zec is expected to deliver its final delimitation report by February 26, but Chigumba said the commission was working towards releasing a draft report this week.

NewsDay gathers that Zec’s report will be final and will not be subject to scrutiny by the lawmakers again before Mnangagwa gazettes it, although constitutional experts argue that the documents can still be challenged in a court of law.

Zec is currently battling to deal with the fallout among its commissioners after seven out of nine of them disowned the preliminary delimitation report which Justice Chigumba handed to Mnangagwa early this month.

Prosecuting, Ms Sharmaine Mwangira told the court that on January 23, the minor was on her way to school and the accused, Moses Munyoro (21) who was dressed like woman while covering his face with a cloth, approached the complainant and dragged her into a bushy and hilly area.

The court also heard that the accused covered the juvenile’s mouth with a piece of cloth and drew a knife before he instructed her to removǝ her clothes.

He rɑpǝd her until he heard voices of the complainant’s mother and her neighbour calling out the complainant’s name.

Upon hearing voices, Munyoro relieved himself and exposed his face.

Muvevi Faces Rape Charges

By-Former CID official, Jaison Muvevi, has lost two luxury cars to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) on the suspicion that he skipped tax.

The police are also investigating an attempted rape case against Muvevi.
A background check on Muvevi by the Standard revealed that he has a pending court case of attempted rape.
They said the former Central Investigations Department officer, who was in the minerals department and was once deployed at the rich Chiadzwa diamond fields, allegedly attempted to rape a real estate agency employee who was showing him a house for rent.
Muvevi allegedly tried to lure the woman with money while in the house, but was turned down.
He allegedly attempted to force himself on the woman, but she managed to escape and report the case.
“The matter is still pending before the courts,” the source disclosed.
His lawyer in the case refused to comment.
The attempted rape case allegedly happened when Muvevi was looking for a house to rent in Harare after he abandoned his family in Zvishavane last year.
He was allegedly running away from his landlord, who is a medical doctor, after he failed to repay a US$20 000 loan. The landlord reported him to the police.
“The police, who went to him after the doctor reported him to the police discovered that he had two vehicles, a 2017 Land Cruiser S200 and a Toyota Fortuner GD6,” one of his family members said.
The police officers raised alarm and Zimra investigations revealed that duty for his cars was undervalued.
The duty for the Land Cruiser, which often ranges between US$40 000 and US$50 000, was pegged at US$20 000.
Zimra seized the car towards the end of last year, while the Toyota Fortuner had been taken earlier.
The authority refused to comment on Muvevi’s cars citing confidentiality issues.
“Client specific information is protected under the secrecy provisions of the Customs and Excise Act and Revenue Authority Act,” Zimra spokesperson Gladman Njanji told Standard People.

Eddie Cross Spills The Beans?

By A Correspondent- Economist and former opposition legislator Eddie Cross has claimed that former First Lady Grace Mugabe bankrolled opposition leader Nelson Chamisa’s 2018 presidential bid.

During the 2018 harmonised elections, Chamisa contested under the MDC Alliance ticket, but now leads the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, an outfit he created in January last year after being elbowed out of MDC Alliance by Douglas Mwonzora.

Sadc [Southern African Development Community] observers came and flew around in a helicopter and they saw what was going on the ground and went back to the State House and they said to Mugabe, it’s over, the people have spoken and it was the people’s response to the coup which legitimised the change of government.”

Maid Torments Senior Wife

By A Correspondent- Most polygam0us families have distinct household problems, usually stemming from jeal0us co-wives.

Due to this jealous, two Mutasa women who are in a polygam0us mɑrriɑge are at each other’s throats, resulting in the senior wife applying for a protection order against her husband’s second wife.

The junior wife, Linda Bonyongwa, who was once the family’s domestic worker before she was imprǝgnated by her employer’s husband, stands accused of insulting the first wife and destroying Rutendo Mudumo’s property.

She also stands accused of looting groceries from Mudumo’s Manica Bridge shop.

Mudumo approached the Mutare Civil Magistrate Court applying for a protection order against Bonyongwa.

Mudumo said Bonyongwa is disturbing her peace by insulting her over the phone and sometimes visiting her place of residence to insult and humiliate her in the presence of other people.

“Bonyongwa was our maid for five years before she was imprǝgnated by my husband. She left her employment and my husband secured her alternative accommodation. My husband would visit her occasionally until he formalised their union, with Bonyongwa becoming his second official wife.

After that, Bonyongwa started calling me over the phone to insult me. She is also in the habit of visiting my shop ad taking groceries without paying. When I ask her to pay for the groceries, she refuses, saying it is our husband’s shop and that she should also benefit. She says she cannot starve when there is food in the shop,” said Mudumo.

She said it was not her first time to apply for a protection order against Bonyongwa.

“I have been in this court before applying for protection orders against Bonyongwa. She abides by the protection orders, but starts harassing me again as soon as they lapse. I am pleading with this court to stop her from coming to my shop to take my groceries, harass and insult me. She should also not disturb my peace. If she wants her own shop, then our husband should open one for her,” said Mudumo.

Bonyongwa defaulted the court hearing and a default protection order was granted in Mudumo’s favour by Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato.

The protection order is valid for five years and Bonyongwa was ordered not to insult, harass and disturb Mudumo’s peace.

The order also bars her from going to the Mberi shop at Manica Bridge which belongs to Mudumo.

“We Have Already Won”: Zanu Pf

By A Correspondent- Top Zanu PF official has claimed that the ruling party has already won this year’s general elections and will never relinquish power even if the opposition is declared winner.

Zanu PF secretary for security, Lovemore Matuke said this over the weekend in Masvingo where the party held its provincial co-ordinating committee meeting.

We are going to leave no constitutional stone unturned in the fight to win Zimbabwe for change and install ethical leaders and a competent government led by Nelson Chamisa,” Mahere said.

Political analyst Rashweat Mukundu said: “The Constitution of Zimbabwe must be respected and Zanu PF must hand over power to any newly-elected government. Any resistance will be dealt with using the law. Involvement of the international community is another strategy by the opposition for peaceful transition.”

Mapostori for ED grabs Villagers’ land

By A Correspondent| Two self styled Mapostori for ED- Moses Chigariro and Timothy Dandara have been taken to court after grabbing ancestral land in Murehwa.

Chigariro and Dandara who are known Zanu PF supporters took the land to build a private school called St Arnold’s Mission and Zanu PF Mashonaland East chairperson Garwe was earmaked as guest of honour but did not attend the commissioning.

A Musoni villager under Chief Mangwende has approached the Court to stop the construction of a private school on a piece of land he inherited from his late father by the two.

According to papers gleaned by ZimEye, Borniface and Last Musoni who are the first and second applicants in this matter want Moses Chigariro and Timothy Dandara first and second respondents interdicted from occupying and interfering with his piece of land which he said he acquired from his father.

In his founding affidavit, Musoni accused the respondents of using a fraudulently obtained village head stamp to issue a letter claiming that the village head had agreed to the construction of St Arnold Primary School on his piece of land.

“On the 29th of June 2022, while I was in the company of the second applicant, the first respondent called the second applicant to the effect that he was looking for a piece of land to settle on in Musoni village. The second applicant told him that there no vacant pieces of land in Musoni village.

“Sometime between the months of June 2022 and August 2022, the first and second respondents fraudulently obtained a village head date stamp from the village head’s wife and fraudulently used it to issue a letter claiming that the village head had agreed to the construction of the St Arnold Primary School in Musoni village,” said Musoni.

He further told the court that Murewa Rural District Council and District Development offices had no knowledge of the plans by Chigariro and Musoni to construct a school in the area.

“Sometime in September 2022, I then visited the offices of the third respondent to enquire whether they had any knowledge about the intended construction of the primary school and if so, whether any consultations had been done and what was the 3rd respondent’s resolution on the matter. I was told they were not aware of the matter.

“I then went to the District Development offices in October 2022 to enquire whether they were aware of the intended construction of the primary school. I was then told that they were not aware of the matter,” added Musoni.

He further stated that he is now suffering irreparable harm after losing his piece of land and has been left with nowhere to build his homestead and farm on.

“I have not been compensated for loss of my piece of land or consulted of it’d intended use. I am now suffering from irreparable harm after losing my piece of land in that I have nowhere to build my own homestead and a place to farm on though I have been born and bred on the village and entitled to occupy and use my own piece of land,” added Musoni.

Lack Of Sound Sponsorship Main Challenge In Mining

By A Correspondent| Lack of sound sponsorship and dearth of basic empowerment skills are the main problems affecting artisanal miners.

Mahachi Struggles To Find New Club

Kudakwashe Mahachi will continue looking for a new club after South African top-flight side Maritzburg United rejected to sign him.

Mahachi had been training with the side, hoping to get a deal after spending the last six months unattached following his release at SuperSport United at the end of last season.

The release came after the 29-year-old was accused of attempting to murder his son but the cour acquitted him after the State failed to prove the essential elements of the case, while the evidence given by witnesses was declared disjointed and contradictory.

According to the iDiski Times, Maritzburg have decided not to sign the Zimbabwe international because he didn’t impress coach Fadlu Davids enough.

The Zimbabwe international was not part of club’s new signings that were unveiled on Thursday.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Harare- Chirundu Road Deteriorates As Mnangagwa Brags About Roads Rehabilitation

By-The Harare-Chirundu highway, which connects several southern African countries, is now dilapidated and has become a death trap, according to motorists who frequent the road.

The highway connects South Africa and Zimbabwe to Zambia, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania, among other countries, and facilitates trade in the region, reported The NewsHawks.

The state of the road now poses many problems for travellers which include damage to car tyres, damage to vehicles, slowing down movement and business, and increasing accidents.

Ronald Kabeta, a commuter omnibus driver plying the Karoi-Harare route, told the publication that driving on the road, especially at night has become a nightmare. He said:

Of late, many travellers have been forced to park and sleep along the highway, especially when travelling during the night, after hitting dangerous potholes that are now a permanent feature along the way. The road is now dilapidated due to potholes and old lifespan.

The road is now badly dilapidated; it is now a death trap. It’s difficult to navigate. It’s really dangerous.

With the current rains which have filled the potholes and eroded the road, some cars have been left on roadsides due to tyre punctures, malfunctioning engines affected by water and damages by the road dilapidation.

Chamu Gomo, a Karoi resident, has implored the government to repair the road as a matter of urgency. He said:

It is no longer advisable to overtake during the night along that highway as you may plunge into a pothole filled with water.

The road has collapsed, causing disasters and we wonder if the government has plans to quickly fix this road urgently as senior officials use it when they visit Kariba resort town for meetings or holidays.

When driving at night, never try to overtake because cars in front of you will be blinding you from seeing the potholes.

Speeding is dangerous on a potholed road like the Harare-Chirundu highway.

Kariba Tourism and Business Indaba administrator Cephas Shonhiwa said the bad state of the Harare-Chirundu highway is now negatively affecting tourism. Shonhiwa said:

The Harare-Chirundu highway is now a big issue as it has been neglected for far too long. With the continued rains and potholes, our clients are badly affected.

A poor road network is one of our challenges as a sector. We are appealing to the government to act on repairing the potholes along the highway as we don’t have any scheduled flights from Harare to Kariba for business travellers.

Without scheduled flights to both Kariba and Chirundu, the only mode of travel is by road which is in extremely bad shape.

The tourism sector is suffering from cancellation of bookings due to the road that is not easily accessible.

This has a huge negative impact on economic growth in the sector.

In early 2021, the government declared all roads to be a state of “national disaster”.

Soon after that, a second Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP II) was launched. | The NewsHawks

Eight People Gunned-Down At An SA Birthday Party

By-Gunmen killed eight people and wounded three others at a birthday party in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, police said, adding that manhunt was underway to find the killers.

The mass shooting was carried out by two attackers and occurred between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. (1515 and 1530 GMT) on Sunday at a house in Kwazakele, Gqeberha, the South African Police Service (SAPS) said in a statement.
The gunmen fled after the attack, and no arrests have been made, the police said. Investigations into the circumstances and possible motives for the attack were ongoing. Police have not named the victims, but confirmed that the owner of the house was among them.
“These victims were killed by criminals, and we will not rest until we find out what happened and who was responsible for (this) callous and cold-blooded attack on these unsuspecting victims,” said Eastern Cape SAPS Commissioner Nomthetheleli Lillian Mene.
The latest incident follows a spate of mass shootings last year that shocked the nation. In July, gunmen killed 19 people in random shootings within hours of each other

Chamisa Invites All Diasporans To A New Zim After Elections

Chigumba Targets Seven Staffers For Exposing Rigging

By- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission chairperson, Justice Priscilla Chigumba, has targeted seven commissioners, who refused to sign the electoral body’s preliminary delimitation report presented to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Parliament.

The “rebellious” seven — Rosewita Murutare, Kudzai Shava, Jane Mbetu-Nzvenga, Shepherd Manhivi, Abigail Mohadi, Jasper Mangwana and Catherine Mpofu — wrote to Mnangagwa and Parliament accusing Chigumba and her deputy, Rodney Simukai Kiwa of unilaterally imposing the draft delimitation report on the electoral body, resulting in them disowning the whole process.
Their letter, attached to a Constitutional Court challenge by Tonderai Chidawa in which Parliament is a respondent, partly reads: “Recognising the need to guarantee the integrity of the delimitation process through non-deviation from considerations that are laid out under section 161(6) of the Constitution; further recognising that the 2023 harmonised elections should be conducted in the next few months, and the need for the Constitution to create a voters roll that resonates with the new boundaries, this is impossible with the remaining time; concerned that the current draft delimitation proposal does not meet the minimum standards expected regarding transparent procedures that strengthen stakeholders’ confidence and dispel potential gerrymandering allegations; and further concerned that the current draft delimitation proposal is not people-centred and not in an understandable format. We hereby resolve to: Put aside the current draft delimitation proposal except as a reference point for a proper delimitation process to be conducted and wholly guided by the Commissioners after the 2023 harmonised elections.”
The Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee on the Analysis of the Zec 2022 Preliminary Report on Delimitation Exercise identified several inconsistencies and irregularities that the commission should address before presenting the final delimitation report.
Sources say the seven commissioners had hoped that Mnangagwa and Parliament would reject the report in its entirety without making any recommendations which would have a serious negative indictment on Chigumba and her deputy.
However, this did not happen after both the President and Parliament instead made some recommendations: A green light for her to rework the controversial draft delimitation report which has also been roundly criticised by both ordinary Zimbabweans and constitutional experts.
Chigumba, who has been nicknamed the Iron Lady by staffers at the electoral body, is said to be unperturbed by the failed palace coup by the seven commissioners and has reportedly turned the swords against them.
“Chigumba is well versed in the process since she is a judge. She was not disturbed by their move to discredit her. Commissioners such as Manhivi, who is a registered legal practitioner with a law degree, and holds other two additional degrees in administration and international relations; and Mpofu, who is a language, communications specialist and peace practitioner and have experience working with the public, media and civil society from the legislative arm of the State, should be taking a leading role in the report, but have not been consulted,” a source said.
Other commissioners, Mangwana, who is an IT specialist, Mbetu-Nzvenga a psychologist, Marutare a social scientist and Shava a disability specialist, would naturally have a peripheral role in the delimitation report.

“It’s not happening, they are just redundant now,” the source added.
Mangwana said his hands were tied to comment on the issue.
“Please talk to Zec chief executive officer Utloile Silaigwana,” he said.
Silaigwana asked NewsDay to send questions in writing, but he had not responded to them by the time of going to print.
Chigumba is now said to be relying more on the Zec secretariat to finish the recommendations within the timeframe provided by the Constitution.
Recently, Chigumba revealed that she summoned Zec provincial and district officers to work 12-hour shifts in a bid to satisfy Mnangagwa and Parliament’s recommendations.
“I have just received this report from His Excellency, the President, in terms of the Constitution which entitles him to raise some concerns with the preliminary delimitation report and to forward his concerns to Zec. His concerns have been duly received and at the moment, we have convened all the district election officers and provincial election officers in Harare. Over the weekend, they were working on the report from the ad-hoc committee from Parliament,” Chigumba said last week Monday after receiving recommendations from Mnangagwa.
“I am sure tonight they will be working in 12-hour shifts on the report from His Excellency, the President. We are working urgently because time is of the essence. We were supposed to work on the final delimitation report to be gazetted by the President before a certain date for us to use these boundaries for the 2023 harmonised elections. What we expect is that sometime next week, we will have a draft ready which will be the privilege of the President to review before we print a final report which he will then gazette at his convenience,” she added.
Constitutional law expert and Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) chairperson Lovemore Madhuku last week addressed a Press conference as the Polad Governance and Legislative Agenda committee chairperson, where he said the squabbles characterising the internal governance of Zec were of concern.
“Zec is a corporate body consisting of nine commissioners. Under no circumstances may Zec operate or purport to work without the collective position of all commissioners. The delimitation process cannot be the work of one or two commissioners. There must be evidence that all commissioners are involved at every stage of the delimitation report,” Madhuku said.
Legal and constitutional think-tank Veritas says even if section 161(9) of the Constitution stipulates that once the preliminary report has been referred back to Zec for further consideration of any matter, this does not mean that the electoral body should disregard the Constitution.
“Zec’s decisions are final and conclusive in matters where Zec can exercise a discretion — for instance to draw a boundary in order to take account of particular physical features or to reflect community of interest between voters — but in matters of constitutionality, Zec has no discretion: The final delimitation report must comply with the Constitution. Hence if Parliament correctly points out that Zec has used an unconstitutional formula to calculate differences in voter numbers between constituencies and wards, Zec must correct its mistake. It has no discretion in the matter,” Veritas said.
It also said once Zec has made the necessary corrections to its report, it should submit a final report to Mnangagwa as soon as possible (section 161(10) of the Constitution), and the President should publish the final report in the Gazette within 14 days (section 161(11)).
“We observed in previous bulletins that Zec’s disregard of the correct formula for calculating differences in voter numbers means that many constituencies and wards in the preliminary report are above and below the 20% limits,” Veritas said.
“Correcting these errors will entail substantially revising the report. And Zec will also have to look at the other points raised by Parliament’s ad hoc committee: the failure to consult chiefs, for example, and lack of clarity in the maps. All this will take time, and the time available is short. We hope Zec will be able to meet the deadline, because the credibility of this year’s general election depends on it.” Newsday

Zimbabwe Records Arlaming Covid Cases

By- The Ministry of Health has announced a rise in new Covid-19 cases.

The ministry says a total of 123 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the country on Friday, bringing the number of active cases to 1 212.

The new cases brought the cumulative total to 261 952, of which there have been 255 084 recoveries and 5 656 deaths since Covid-19 hit the country in 2020.
Out of 2 021 tests conducted on Friday, Mashonaland East reported the highest number of cases with 48, followed by Manicaland and Masvingo with 22 and 10 cases respectively.
A total of 6 596 309, people have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, 4 960 627 second dose and 1 299 645 the booster shot.
The Ministry said Covid-19 vaccination, which was introduced in March 2021, will continue until all eligible people are vaccinated and protected.
“The service remains available at all health facilities when there are no mass vaccination campaigns. From time to time the Ministry of Health and Child Care conducts mass vaccination campaigns in different communities,” the Ministry said.
Chief coordinator for the National Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Agnes Mahomva, said the country has enough vaccines for all those eligible for vaccination.
“We are observing an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. As Government, our message hasn’t changed; we continue to urge people to get vaccinated as that is the only effective way to safeguard ourselves from this pandemic,” she said.
She called for vigilance and adherence to prevention regulations such as handwashing, wearing of face coverings and social distancing.
The Government, she said, will tighten screening at all ports of entry.
“Genomic sequencing is ongoing at the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory, and to date, no new variants have been detected. The Government continues to assess and monitor the situation on the ground daily, guided by both local and global data to provide timely and science-driven adjustments to the national response, where necessary.
“The Government also strengthened its case management systems by ensuring health facilities have adequate oxygen supplies and medicines required for supportive care of identified positive cases requiring treatment,” she said.

Mnangagwa Frog Marches Supporters To Welcome Fellow Dictator

By-The ruling Zanu PF party has bussed its supporters to the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport to welcome the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.

Lukashenko, is on a State visit to Zimbabwe from 30 January to 1 February.

The bussing of supporters to the airport to welcome foreign dignitaries was a distinct feature of the late former president Robert Mugabe’s administration, and the so-called New Dispensation has seemingly perpetuated the practice.

In a notice to all DDC4 District Chairpersons and PCs in Harare Province, the secretary for administration, one S.M. Mabeka, said buses will be availed for the event. Wrote Mabeka:

All DCC4 District Chairpersons & PCs are requested to mobilise Cdes to go to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Republic of Belarus President Cde Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko will be visiting his counterpart Republic of Zimbabwe President Cde ED Mnangagwa on Monday 30 January 2023.

District Secretaries for Transport & Welfare come collect buses from DCC4 Secretary for Transport & Welfare Cde Gwengwe at ZANU PF Harare Provincial Offices at 0800hrs.

All Party members to be at their usual pick-up points by 0830hrs.

Lukashenko will be in Zimbabwe from 30 January to 1 February after making his first stop in the United Arab Emirates.

He will meet Mnangagwa to strengthen existing relations between the two countries.

News24 reported a source as saying Lukashenko’s visit was initially planned for last year, but there were security fears.

Putin Threatens To Kill Former British PM

By-Former United Kingdom, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of threatening to kill him with a missile attack.

Boris said this happened shortly before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022.

According to a new BBC documentary to be aired on Monday evening, the threat was made in a phone call conducted when the Russian attack on Ukraine was increasingly becoming inevitable. Said Johnson:

He (Putin) sort of threatened me at one point and said, ‘Boris, I don’t want to hurt you, but with a missile, it would only take a minute’, or something like that.

Johnson and other Western leaders were trying to dissuade Russia from attacking Ukraine and the British PM emerged as one of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s strongest supporters.

Before the invasion, Johnson claimed he was at pains to tell Putin that there was no imminent prospect of Ukraine joining NATO.

He warned the Russian President that any invasion would mean “more NATO, not less NATO” on Russia’s borders. Said Johnson:

He said, ‘Boris, you say that Ukraine is not going to join NATO any time soon. ‘What is any time soon?’

And I said, ‘well it’s not going to join NATO for the foreseeable future. You know that perfectly well’.

I think from the very relaxed tone that he was taking and the sort of air of detachment that he seemed to have, he was just playing along with my attempts to get him to negotiate.

The BBC documentary also reveals that Zelensky asked for weapons from NATO countries to stop the Russian invasion. | Kyiv Post

Budiriro ECD Teacher In Mysterious Death

By-The missing Budiriro 4 Primary School ECD teacher Magdalene Mandiveyi, has been found dead in a maize field in Aspindale.

Her husband, David Mupanganyemba (45), told H-Metro that on the day Magdalene went missing, she left home early for work while he and their three-month-old baby were still asleep. Said Mupanganyemba:

She left home on Monday for work and left me asleep since I was off duty.

Handitombozivi kuti musi wacho akabuda mumba akapfeka zvakaitasei. I expected her during lunchtime to breastfeed the baby, but she never came. I called her cellphone number, but it was unreachable.

I sent someone to look for her at the school and that is when we learned that she had not reported for duty and began to wonder what had happened to her.

One of the senior teachers told us that Magdalene had phoned earlier in the morning saying she would report late for work.

She told the senior teacher that she wanted to nurse the baby since our maid had not returned from her off.

After informing my in-laws about this, we joined the search party, only to be called to Marimba Police Station on Friday to identify a body they had found.

I went and identified the body as my wife. My life will never be the same without her.

Mupanganyemba, who described his wife as “a very quiet and supportive woman”, said she had not complained about anything nor showed any signs of distress in the days leading up to her disappearance and subsequent death.

A Budiriro 4 Primary student who boarded the same kombi with Magdalene in the morning she disappeared allegedly told a senior teacher at the school that the driver ignored their calls to be dropped off at their usual point.

The girl said the driver of the kombi later stopped and allowed her to alight while Magdalene remained seated.

Some mourners, including teachers from Budiriro 4 Primary, said they suspected Magdalene could have been killed for ritual purposes. Said a mourner:

It was raining the whole week, but her body had no mud whatsoever. She could have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the field.

Magdalene completed her teaching studies at Nyadire Teachers’ College in 2015 and joined the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education the following year.

She first taught at Stratford Primary School in Banket before moving to Royden Primary School near Whitehouse along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.

Magdalene then taught at David Livingstone Primary School before being transferred to Budiriro 4 Primary.

She is survived by her husband David and four children. | H-Metro

SA Clubs Reject Kuda Mahachi

Cervical Cancer Causes

SADC – Watchdog Or Lapdog ?

CCC Namibia urges SADC to take stern action against the gross abuse of human rights across the region!

29 January 2023

Human rights defenders and political activists in Namibia who subscribe to the yellow train applaud the call for an extraordinary SADC meeting on the 31st of January 2023. The fundamental meeting will be hosted by the President of the Republic of Namibia, and the Chairperson of the SADC Organ Troika, His Excellency Hage Geingob. SADC needed to come together following the reports about the heinous murder of Mr. Thulani Rudolf Maseko, a leading human rights lawyer, and political activist in the kingdom of Eswatini.

At this juncture, SADC should resist siding with those who torture, arrest, intimidate, and murder political activists and human rights to protect illegitimacy. Namibia district is delighted that the once passive regional organization has urgently taken an important step to bring perpetrators of state-sponsored violence and murder to book. In March 2022, the Citizens Coalition for Change(CCC) lost Mboneni Ncube through ZANU PF-led violence, surprisingly, not even a word of condemnation came from SADC. Many were left for dead in Kwekwe when ZANU-PF matchet-wielding hoodlums attacked change champions at their rally.

Zimbabweans and the residents of Eswatini are clamoring for constitutional democracy that will usher in peaceful elections. It is unacceptable for SADC to continue insulating dictators in Southern Africa. On the 31st of January, we expect the body to deliberate these significant issues with due diligence. Mr. Mnangagwa and Mr. Mswati must account for the high levels of human butchery, arbitrary arrests, exilement, intimidation, and torture of human rights defenders and political activists. Recently, ZANU-PF unleashed violence on the elderly in Mrewa for belonging to the political party of their choice.

SADC should emphasize the need for peaceful resolutions to the political and security challenges affecting our region. Hon Job Sikhala has languished in prison since the 14th of June 2022 on concocted charges. We demand his immediate release! Citizens in Zimbabwe are denied the much-needed political space to campaign freely ahead of the July harmonized elections.

Swalimo leadership submitted that their members and political activists have endured long pre-trial detentions since 2021. They are demanding the unconditional release of the incarcerated comrades Mthandeni and Bacede who have endured state torture since 2021. Swalimo is audibly demanding the return of exiled political activists and leaders of opposition political parties who skipped borders in fear of persecution by prosecution such as the SWALIMO President, Hon Mduduzi Simelane, the PUDEMO President Hon Mlungisi Mkhanya, the SFDF President, Hon Busi Mayisela only to mention a few. Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO) warns King Mswati to stop abusing power through the securocrats.

Furthermore, SWALIMO demands justice for Thabani who was killed by the autocratic monarchy. Khumalo was assassinated by the state and given a pauper burial. He was denied a befitting send-off by King Mswati’s sadist regime. SADC must address these issues in Eswatini as they investigate the gruesome murder of Thulani Maseko. May his dear soul rest in power. Surely, his untimely death shall never go in vain.

In a nutshell, the Namibia district encourages SADC to ensure that human freedoms are respected in Zimbabwe, Eswatini, and across the region. Right now ZEC is refusing to provide the voter’s roll to stakeholders ahead of the July elections. We need peaceful elections, not war.

Common Challenges Affecting Artisanal Miners

By A Correspondent| Lack of sound sponsorship and dearth of basic empowerment skills are among the main problems affecting artisanal miners.

Putin Threatens To Kill Boris Johnson

By-Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin “sort of threatened” him with a missile attack shortly before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022.

| Kyiv Post

SA Shutdown Looming

The EFF will hold a national shutdown on 20 March to protest continuing load shedding and call for President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign.
EFF leader Julius Malema made the announcement at a press briefing on Sunday, saying the event would make the Zuma Must Fall protest look like “Micky Mouse”.

“The national shutdown means that there will be no school, no university, factories and no business will be operating on that day.

“All municipalities and all major cities will be shut down and there will be no work on that day. All major roads will be barricaded and all ports of entry, including roads that lead to borders, will be closed…

“No business operations will be opened on that day and no truck, and no train will be allowed on the roads and railways, particularly the trucks transporting South Africa’s minerals and coal to outside South Africa through Richards Bay.”

He said the streets would only remain open for emergency and essential services.

Malema added the shutdown would call for an immediate end to load shedding that was “crippling the economy and returning this country to the dark ages”.

He said, “all sectors and spheres of society are invited to form part of this historic [shutdown]”.

According to the EFF, the shutdown would also be spurred on by, among other things, the rising cost of living, unemployment and poverty, increasing crime levels, corruption and collapsing infrastructure.

Malema said the party would engage taxi associations to support the shutdown.

On that day, the EFF national leadership plans to march to the Union Buildings to hand over their demands.

They would communicate the next step on the day if the president does not resign. —News24

DeMbare Edge Battling Sheasham

Dynamos coach Herbert Maruwa believes his side still needs to improve in the finishing following the team’s 1-0 win over PSL newcomers Sheasham in Saturday’s pre-season friendly played at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

The Glamour Boys scored the winner in the 86th minute through Frank Makarati.

The goal came after the Harare giants had dominated the play but failed to utilise the chances that came on their way.

The gaffer added: “It’s a process, we need to make sure we improve our movement (when) going forward.

“The boys are doing well at the back but we need to make sure that we score the created chances.”

The Glamour Boys fielded some of their new signings in the first XI, including Kevin Moyo, Arthur Musiiwa, Donald Mudadi, Tanaka Shandirwa, Jayden Bakari and Emmanuel Ziocha.

When asked if the club will make more signings before the window closes, Maruwa said: “It depends, maybe one or two players (will arrive), but so far I can’t promise anything.

Zim Does Not Need Food Aid At All, Claims Mnangagwa

POLITICAL analysts have accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of misleading the world at the Feed Africa Summit in Dakar, Senegal, early this week where he said Zimbabwe was food secure.

They said his remarks were in contrast with the situation on the ground, where the World Food Programme (WFP) estimates state that 5,7 million people in Zimbabwe urgently need food aid.

Just before Mnangagwa left for Senegal, his government through the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, had indicated that the country was in peak hunger season and the number of people queuing for State food handouts had increased by 54% to 3,7 million from December last year when only 2,4 million people registered for government food aid.

In his presentation to other African heads of State in Dakar on Wednesday, Mnangagwa said the country had sufficient wheat stocks after a bumper harvest and might even export the commodity.

He, however, said the biggest challenge during this agricultural season is fertiliser, which is mostly imported from Russia and Ukraine.

“So we said, because there is climate change, how many hectares of the land can we put under irrigation to produce two million plus tonnes to feed the nation? We determined how much yield a hectare has, hence we knew the figures and we did that, and we are food secure,” Mnangagwa said.

His remarks have torched a social media storm with citizens accusing him of using the Dakar opportunity to spread his Zanu PF propaganda.

Political analysts said Mnangagwa’s remarks contradicted the WFP, which estimates that 38% of Zimbabwe’s population is food insecure.

Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said: “These are lies. If you check Fewsnet and WFP reports, you can sense that our county exists on the borderline of food insecurity. Costs of inputs double every year due to currency problems, and farmers have no borrowing capacity due to high interest rates. Climate change makes rain-dependent agriculture risky. Zimbabwe is yet to recover from the effects of violent property rights violations which left millions of acres of arable land in the hands of incompetent (Zanu PF) party surrogates.”

Another political analyst Effie Ncube said: “I think Mnangagwa was just grandstanding and using the opportunity for propaganda. What he did is misleading the world.”

However, economist Prosper Chitambara said the county was making progress on food security.

“The country is making a progress towards food security. We have seen the successes in winter wheat production last year,” he said.

“However, I think there is a lot of work in terms of investments, completion of dam projects that government is embarking on, and we need to upscale our investments on irrigation. We need to put more land under irrigation and improve the rural economy.”- NewsDay

Desperate Mnangagwa Launches Hairdressers For ED

HAIRDRESSERS for Economic Development are inviting hairdressers around Bulawayo to come and join their organisation so they can benefit and expand their businesses.

The organisation is going to be formally launched sometime in February and has over 3 000 members at the moment.

The organisation is working towards getting land where hairdressers can build their own saloons and start working towards exporting their own hair brands made in Zimbabwe.

The National Hairdressers4ED chairman, Archibald Siziba said they are not only inviting hairdressers but also everyone who offers beauty enhancing services.

“We are going to push for hairdressers and beauticians to get land where we can grow our businesses. We are working towards exporting hair products and even getting nail machines that will allow us to make our own nails instead of importing them. We have done our research and we know it is possible to do this, that is why we are calling upon more hairdressers and beauticians to join us,” said Siziba.

He said the organisation will work towards addressing the challenges that most hairdressers face.

Ms Ferosa Ismail, the Bulawayo chairperson for the organisation said they are looking forward to growing the organisation.

She said the organisation will be giving full support to every hairdresser so that they can expand their businesses.

A member of the organization Ms Keresia Dagwaira said she is very happy they are going to be coming together as hairdressers and beauticians to address the challenges they come across.

“We are looking forward to having a stand at this year’s ZITF that will help us grow and be able to achieve all our economic goals. Most people know that hairdressers are gossipers so as an organisation we are going to push for hairdressers to start gossiping about economic things which will help us to reach 2030 while economically developed,” she said.

Mukuwasha Kills Father- In -Law Over Mangoes

By A Correspondent- In a furious bust-up, a son-in-law fatally struck his father-in-law with a log and bricks over mangoes.

The scary incident which has become a subject of discussion in Lalapanzi area in Midlands province occurred on Sunday at Bhudhe 2 village in Lalapanzi.

A source close to the incident said John Munjanja (52) visited his sister, Muchaneta Munjanja (49) and found her with children while her husband Samson Maredzva (42) had gone out.

Being happy that her brother visited Muchaneta, gave him mangoes and when John was about to leave for his home Samson arrived.

The source said Samson got furious when he saw his father-in-law carrying mangoes and asked his wife why she gave him mangoes without his permission. An argument ensued between the pair resulting in Samson assaulting his father-in-law with a log.

“He fell to the ground, while he was lying on the ground he smashed his head with a brick. He groaned loudly as he died in a pool of blood,” said the source.

Muchaneta and a villager reported the incident to the police leading to her husband’s arrest. John’s body was ferried to Gweru General Hospital for post-mortem.

Hubby, Wife Torture Maid For “Stealing” Cash

A COUPLE chained up, tortured their maid (19) and poured boiling water into her gǝn!tals for allegedly stealing US$200.

Thembelani Moyo (28) and Sibongile Mpofu (28) who stay at Vukuzenzele village in Filabusi and work at Senga Hill Mill Mine, breathed fire when they arrived home unexpectedly on New Year’s Eve and discovered that US$200 which they had kept in their wardrobe was missing.

They quizzed their house maid – who cannot be named for ethical reasons – but she vehemently denied ever seeing the money. Her denials sparked fury in the couple.

They set upon her with everything they could lay their hands on. Moyo went caveman and grabbed a log to bash the hapless teenager while his wife, unleashed Kung-fu kicks and punches. Realising that she was staring death in the face, the battered maid croaked out a confession.

She told her employers that she had squandered US$169 and was left with US$31 which she surrendered to the uncompromising pair.

A neighbour, Simangaliso Moyo, escalated the violence when she arrived with a sjambok and mercilessly whipped the chained teen.

The torture reached a crescendo when Mpofu allegedly boiled water which she poured onto the half-dead maid’s pr!vatǝ partƨ. She allegedly told the victim that it would stop her from having ƨǝx with any man.

The maid sustained horrific injuries. After the vicious attack the couple rubbed salt into the wound by reporting the teenager to the police, for theft leading to her arrest.

However the maid’s appearance before Filabusi magistrate Abednico Ndebele, where she pleaded guilty to theft, opened a can of worms for the couple.

The maid stunned the gallery with a tear-jerking exposé of her ordeal.

Moyo admitted that they had chained her to stop her from running away.

The magistrate ordered that the teenager must be examined by a State doctor and remanded her out of custody.

While she was out of custody she reported the couple and Simangaliso, for assaulting her and scalding her on her pr!vatǝ partƨ with hot water to the police.

A medical report detailing the extent of the injuries on the maid’s privatǝs was availed in her second court appearance.

Magistrate Ndebele sentenced the teen to six months in prison, suspended four months for three years on condition that she does not commit an offence involving dishonesty and suspended the rest on condition that she restitutes US$169.

The couple and their neighbour were arrested for assault and appeared before Filabusi magistrate Sukoluhle Belinda Nunu last Wednesday.

Magistrate Nunu remanded them out of custody on $40 000 bail each, to 3 February for trial.

Horror As Woman Kills Own Baby During Prayer

IN a bizarre incident that sent chills down the spines of many, a Buhera woman who was praying smashed the heads of her two young children on a rock and killed one of them instantly as she claimed that a “voice” had instructed her to commit the heinous crime.

The other infant was resuscitated through first aid before being rushed to Murambinda Mission Hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.

Mary Rukobo (24) of Mashangana Village under Chief Nyashanu has since been arrested on murder and attempted murder charges.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo said Rukobo, who was expected to appear in court this week, crushed the heads of her two infants (two months) and (two years) on a rock.

She killed the two-month-old baby instantly, while the other is recuperating in hospital. The heart-rending incident occurred on January 19.

Inspector Muzondo said Rukobo, a member of a local apostolic sect, committed the offence at her worshipping shrine that is about 500 metres from her homestead.

Rukobo, who usually visited the shrine for night prayers, was allegedly nakǝd when she committed the offence.

It is alleged that the suspect left her home for prayers around 7pm.

She took the two children with her.

“While at the shrine, Rukobo started singing and praying loudly. Around 10pm, two passers-by, Ngonidzashe (36) and John Njanji (28) of Magunduru Village discovered that Rukobo was acting strangely and informed other villagers. They teamed up and visited the shrine to investigate,” said Inspector Muzondo.

As the villagers approached the shrine, Rukobo charged towards them while nakǝd.

She was ordered to stop and she complied.

“She was interviewed and confessed that she had killed her two-months-old son by crushing his head several times on a huge rock. She claimed that she had heard a voice instructing her to crush the heads of her children against the rock,” said Inspector Muzondo.

Inspector Muzondo said the villagers conducted a search and discovered the victims’ bodies lying on a huge rock about five metres away from the shrine.

They had swollen heads and bruises.

“The two-year-old infant was lying unconscious on the same rock with a swollen head, and the villagers quickly administered first aid. He regained consciousness and was rushed to Murambinda Mission Hospital for further management. The body of the young infant was taken to Murambinda Mission Hospital for a post-mortem,” said Inspector Muzondo.

Police from Chirozva base attended the scene and arrested Rukobo on murder and attempted murder charges.

A Rusape-based mental health specialist, Dr Thomas Nyamudya told The Manica Post that a number of new mothers experience disturbing thoughts and an emotional flatness – red flags that signal postpartum psychosis.

Postpartum psychosis is a severe mental illness, characterised by extreme difficulty in responding emotionally to a newborn baby – which can include thoughts of harming the child.

In extreme situations, a woman with this condition may exhibit behaviours such as staring off into space, muttering to herself, refusing to eat or making seemingly irrational statements.

The majority of those who experience the condition have a history of mental illness.

“Causes of postpartum psychosis are not well understood. It’s possible that the abrupt shift in horm0nes after delivery could trigger it. It can manifest in a period spanning from a week or a year after birth,” said the psychiatrist.

She said postpartum psychosis is a psychiatric emergency due to its potential for harm to the baby or the new mother.

“Some of its symptoms include sudden thoughts of throwing the baby or harming it in some way, delusions, which are some awkward beliefs that have no basis in reality and hallucinations – seeing or hearing things that aren’t there. She had difficulty responding emotionally to the baby,” she added.

Act On Drug Abuse, CCC Pins Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri|The failure by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to curb drug abuse is worrisome.

This was said by CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa on Friday.

The CCC leader challenged the Zanu PF regime to reign in on rampant drug abuse in schools and communities.

“WE MUST ACT..Drugs are decimating our young people.

We are losing a whole nation and generation under our watch.

Our communities & schools have become drug havens. Where is government in all this? Where is law enforcement ? Everyone must be involved in fighting this scourge!#Act,” said President Chamisa.

Key Information About Children’s Health

An estimated 5 million children died before their fifth birthday and another 2.1 million children and youth aged between 5–24 years lost their lives in 2021, according to the latest estimates released by the United Nations Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (UN IGME).

In a separate report also released today, the group found that 1.9 million babies were stillborn during the same period. Tragically, many of these deaths could have been prevented with equitable access and high-quality maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health care.

“Every day, far too many parents are facing the trauma of losing their children, sometimes even before their first breath,” said Vidhya Ganesh, UNICEF Director of the Division of Data Analytics, Planning and Monitoring. “Such widespread, preventable tragedy should never be accepted as inevitable. Progress is possible with stronger political will and targeted investment in equitable access to primary health care for every woman and child.”

The reports show some positive outcomes with a lower risk of death across all ages globally since 2000. The global under-5 mortality rate fell by 50% since the start of the century, while mortality rates in older children and youth dropped by 36%, and the stillbirth rate decreased by 35%. This can be attributed to more investments in strengthening primary health systems to benefit women, children and young people.

However, gains have reduced significantly since 2010, and 54 countries will fall short of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals target for under-5 mortality. If swift action is not taken to improve health services, warn the agencies, almost 59 million children and youth will die before 2030, and nearly 16 million babies will be lost to stillbirth.

“It is grossly unjust that a child’s chances of survival can be shaped just by their place of birth, and that there are such vast inequities in their access to lifesaving health services,” said Dr Anshu Banerjee, Director for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing at the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Children everywhere need strong primary health care systems that meet their needs and those of their families, so that – no matter where they are born – they have the best start and hope for the future.”

Children continue to face wildly differentiating chances of survival based on where they are born, with sub-Saharan Africa and southern Asia shouldering the heaviest burden, the reports show. Though sub-Saharan Africa had just 29% of global live births, the region accounted for 56% of all under-5 deaths in 2021, and southern Asia for 26% of the total.

Children born in sub-Saharan Africa are subject to the highest risk of childhood death in the world – 15 times higher than the risk for children in Europe and northern America.

Mothers in these 2 regions also endure the painful loss of babies to stillbirth at an exceptional rate, with 77% of all stillbirths in 2021 occurring in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia. Nearly half of all stillbirths happened in sub-Saharan Africa. The risk of a woman having a stillborn baby in sub-Saharan Africa is 7 times more likely than in Europe and North America.

“Behind these numbers are millions of children and families who are denied their basic rights to health,” said Juan Pablo Uribe, Global Director for Health, Nutrition and Population, World Bank and Director of the Global Financing Facility. “We need political will and leadership for sustained financing for primary health care which is one of the best investments countries and development partners can make.”

Access to and availability of quality health care continues to be a matter of life or death for children globally. Most child deaths occur in the first five years, of which half are within the first month of life. For these youngest babies, premature birth and complications during labour are the leading causes of death.

Similarly, more than 40% of stillbirths occur during labour – most of which are preventable when women have access to quality care throughout pregnancy and birth. For children that survive past their first 28 days, infectious diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria pose the biggest threat.

While COVID-19 has not directly increased childhood mortality – with children facing a lower likelihood of dying from the disease than adults – the pandemic may have increased future risks to their survival. In particular, the reports highlight concerns around disruptions to vaccination campaigns, nutrition services, and access to primary health care, which could jeopardize their health and well-being for many years to come. In addition, the pandemic has fuelled the largest continued backslide in vaccinations in three decades, putting the most vulnerable newborns and children at greater risk of dying from preventable diseases.

The reports also note gaps in data, which could critically undermine the impact of policies and programmes designed to improve childhood survival and well-being.

“The new estimates highlight the remarkable global progress since 2000 in reducing mortality among children under age 5,” said John Wilmoth, Director, UN DESA Population Division. “Despite this success, more work is needed to address persistent large differences in child survival across countries and regions, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Only by improving access to quality health care, especially around the time of childbirth, will we be able to reduce these inequities and end preventable deaths of newborns and children worldwide.”

Why You Need Geological Mapping In Mining?

Business Correspondent

Geological Mapping is an important tool in the mining industry.

Many people look down upon Geological mapping and just do simple methods in search of minerals for example dowsing methods to search for minerals.

Geological mapping is the process done by a Geologist in which he picks up rock units called lithologies in an area, picking the orientation and structural features on the mine.

Explaining the importance of Geological mapping:
One can know the contact zones which are important in gold mineralization. Gold moves in areas of low mean stress for example fractures, faults, etc if a Geologist is able to pic a contact zone he can be able to proceed checking possible mineralization in the cantact zone.

We at Inner Core Resources (Pvt.) Ltd offer Mining services from Geological mapping, reef mapping, Magnetics and IP in exploration for all minerals including Gold, Lithium, Manganese and base metals including copper, manganese etc. Exploration starts from desktop studies spanning to geological mapping upto geological reporting with our experienced personnel.

Why would you want to do this:

To understand the potential of your area,
This would be your guideline during mining…

Minister, Police Boss Face Arrest

By-Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe and Police boss Godwin Matanga are facing arrest after human rights lawyers have filed an application at the Harare High Court seeking an order to be jailed.

This follows their willfully reneging on the order to compensate Pardon Chitongo, a victim of police brutality.

Chitongo was shot and permanently disabled by anti-riot police officers during the January 2019 anti-government protests as he stood outside his uncle’s home in Epworth.

In 2022, Kazembe and Matanga were ordered to pay Chitongo ZWL$3.7 million but have not done so.

Now wheelchair-bound, Chitongo is relying on expensive painkillers to ease pain in his body.

He is being represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)’s Paidamoyo Saurombe and Fiona Iliff. ZLHR said:

Kazembe and Godwin Matanga were on 3 August 2022 ordered by High Court Judge Justice Gladys Mhuri to pay ZW$3,7 million to Chitongo as damages after he was shot by ZRP officers on 14 January 2019.

Chitongo was shot by ZRP officers while he was standing outside his uncle’s house when police officers recklessly and indiscriminately started shooting towards him, ostensibly to target some protestors during an anti-government demonstration.

He had not been protesting, was simply caught in the crossfire and was hit by a bullet that pierced through his arm, penetrated through his body, came out on the other side of his body, and hit the other arm.

As a result of the grave nature of his injuries, Chitongo had to undergo an operation to remove one of his kidneys after he suffered permanent damage to his spinal cord.

The two have reneged on paying damages and this forced Chitongo to file an application seeking an order to hold the duo to be in contempt of court and that they are sentenced to 30 days in prison for defaulting on paying the judgment debt.

Riots broke out across the country in January 2019 as citizens protested against a fuel price hike and general hardships.

Security services responded with brute force, with 12 people reportedly killed while hundreds were tortured and injured. | NewZimbabwe.com

Government Speaks On Dominican Convent Drug Female Learners

By- The government says schools are permitted to expel learners found in possession of drugs.

This follows last week’s expulsion of eight learners at Dominican Convent High School, a top Harare girls’ school, who were allegedly found in possession of illicit substances stashed in their belongings during a recent school trip to Nyanga.
The matter is currently under police investigation.
In an interview, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education spokesperson Mr Taungana Ndoro said: “We have carried out quite a number of community outreach programmes with partners, including those from the Zimbabwe Republic Police; the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation; and various other stakeholders to ensure we try and curb this scourge and nip it in the bud before it progresses.
“As the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, we have a robust mechanism of outreach programmes to ensure that we stop drug and substance abuse in all our schools.”
He said school heads are obliged to suspend a learner for 14 days where they reasonably suspect them of serious misconduct, pending investigation.
“If the head is satisfied, after a fair hearing, that the learner is guilty of serious misconduct that merits expulsion after consultation with the district schools inspector, then the pupils will be expelled,” he said.
“Where a head has decided to expel a learner, they should give the parents written notice of the date on which the expulsion is to take effect and, in the notice, they should state the reason for the decision to expel the learner.”
Upon being notified of the expulsion, he said parents may appeal in writing to the provincial education director within 14 days of receiving the notice.
“While the appeal is being determined, the learner who has been expelled is permitted to attend school.
“However, provided that if the head of the school believes, on reasonable grounds, the learner’s attendance may lead to indiscipline or may result in injury of another person or damage to property, the head can prevent the learner from attending school for not more than a month after the appeal has been launched.”
In a separate interview, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations into the Dominican Convent matter were ongoing.
“The matter is work in progress and we are still carrying out the investigations,” he said.

Harare Boreholes Pass-Out Poo

By-The City of Harare has temporarily decommissioned 15 boreholes that were contaminated with human waste in three suburbs.

The boreholes are believed to be the source of typhoid cases reported in Glen Norah, Mbare and Budiriro.

City health authorities tested water samples taken from 127 boreholes in the three suburbs and found significant traces of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria, indicating the presence of faecal matter.

Seventy-two (72) suspected typhoid cases are being monitored, while about 20 others have been confirmed.

City epidemiology and disease control officer Dr. Michael Vere said:

We have tested several boreholes in Harare — a total of 127 — and we discovered that seven boreholes were contaminated with faecal matter in Glen Norah and eight boreholes in Mbare.

We temporarily closed these boreholes and installed in-line chlorinators; these are devices that contain chlorine, which kills all the bacteria in the water to make it safe for use.

These boreholes could have been the source of typhoid infection.

Increase potable water supplies

Vere said the city plans to increase potable water pumped into areas where boreholes have been decommissioned. He said:

We are working with our Water Department so that affected suburbs get water supplies.

Our health department has recorded 92 cases of suspected typhoid, of which about 20 have been confirmed.

From January 1, we recorded a total of nine cases.

We have seven cases from Glen Norah and two other cases — one each in Highfield and Ushewokunze.

We continued to record an increasing number of cases in Glen Norah and this prompted us to investigate the source of the outbreak.

Hyenas Invade Mberengwa, Terrorise Villagers

By-Marauding hyenas have invaded Ward 37 Mberengwa District in the Midlands Province.

A villager, Luckson Pasipanodya, said the hyenas hadn’t attacked people yet, but they had already killed donkeys, goats, sheep, and calves.

The most affected areas are villages, Nungirai, Chivasa, Pararai and around Gwai Primary School, Makwava Primary, Chapungu Secondary and Mundi-Mataga Dam area under Chief Chingoma. Said Pasipanodya:

These hyenas are surely causing a headache to us as villagers. Goats, sheep and donkeys are at the mercy of these animals. We have never had them in such a big number.

This time there are many and are sure to leave us poorer and hungry as donkeys form part of our draught power.

They haven’t attacked people but fears are that they may pounce on children and those that may be travelling to catch buses at dawn.

Villagers said they do not know where the wild animals came from but suspect that they migrated from farms in the Sovelele area in Mwenezi and Makhado into Mberengwa.

MP for Mberengwa South Tasara Hungwe said they engaged the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) for help in dealing with the hyena menace and the teams were in the area. He said:

The hyenas have been a problem for some time but now the issue has escalated as people are losing livestock almost on a daily basis and people are even scared for their lives at this point.

We have engaged the Zimparks team and we hope they can do something to scare them away because people’s livestock is at risk.

Nungirai village head Wilbert Pasipanodya said the hyena menace will only get worse as the environment seems to be good for their breeding on a massive scale. | The Sunday News

“A Move to Curb Freedom of Association as Election Nears”

For Immediate Release

(Johannesburg, January 27, 2023) – Zimbabwe should reregister hundreds of civil society groups whose registration it has withdrawn, and amend its Private Voluntary Organization Act to bring it in line with its obligations to protect freedom of association, Human Rights Watch said today. The government should also cancel an amendment that would bar groups from “political” activity under threat of criminal penalties.

On January 22, 2023, Zimbabwean authorities announced they had revoked the registration of 291 nongovernmental and civil society organizations for “noncompliance with the provisions of Private Voluntary Organization Act.” Human Rights Watch had criticized the law as retrogressive when it was being drafted in 2004 and raised the alarm on its potential violations of the right to freedom of association.

“Zimbabwe’s repression of civil society organizations needs to stop, especially in light of the general election this year,” said Ashwanee Budoo-Scholtz, deputy Africa director at Human Rights Watch. “The government needs to stop using the Private Voluntary Organization Act as a tool to silence the exercise of fundamental democratic rights.”

The Private Voluntary Organization Act is incompatible with international human rights law standards on freedom of association to which Zimbabwe is a party, such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Paul Mavhima, the labor and social welfare minister, said that registration was withdrawn from some groups because they allegedly failed to submit audited accounts for money raised from donors, while in other cases the revocation was for national security reasons, or for allegedly straying from their mandate.

Critics, however, have called the move a consolidation of authoritarian rule and a harbinger of worse things to come.

“The law is now an instrument of repression for the civil society sector,” a Zimbabwean human rights lawyer told Human Rights Watch. “The right of existence and operation is under threat because the requirements of this law can easily be used to shut down organizations and apply criminal law against NGOs and civil society leaders. This deregistration seems to carry the message that you either comply with our regulations or you perish.”

He noted that the restrictions can silence grassroots groups that provide guidance and leadership at the community level, leaving voters in the dark about important developments as the election nears.

In November 2021, the government proposed an amendment to the Private Voluntary Organizations Act to further restrict the operations of nongovernmental organizations. The amendment would allow the government to cancel the registration of organizations deemed to be “political,” with criminal penalties for the groups’ leaders. The government said it is aimed at curbing terrorism financing and money laundering to comply with the recommendation of the country’s Financial Action Taskforce. The parliament and the senate have passed the bill, and it is awaiting presidential signature.

There is no doubt that the adoption of the amendment will further threaten the already compromised right to freedom of association in the country, Human Rights Watch said. For this reason, the amendment should be withdrawn.

A member of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum told Human Rights Watch that the fact the amended law may come into effect before the general election means that groups that typically play an important role in the lead up to, during, and after, elections, will be shut out and prevented from doing so.

“What it means is that we may not have NGO-sponsored election observers and election monitoring by civil society organizations,” the rights defender said. “This would definitely undermine the credibility of the election because independent organizations that observe and compile reports on the electoral processes would not be able to do so. For many of us, it is very clear that there are specific organizations that this NGO law targets, and these are organizations that work on human rights and governance issues.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has on several occasions threatened to expel groups that do not follow his party’s mandate, and that in his view intervene in the country’s politics.

The African Union and the Southern African Development Community should intervene, Human Rights Watch said. They should urge President Mnangagwa not to sign the amendment into law. They should also urge the government to reconcile the Private Voluntary Organization Act with AU and SADC standards, including the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, AU Guidelines on Freedom of Association and Assembly in Africa, and SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections.

“The credibility of the upcoming general election, and whether it guarantees Zimbabwe’s citizens the right to genuinely chose their representatives, will be closely linked to the ability of civil society to monitor and report on the election process,” Budoo-Scholtz said. “Groups, especially those working on governance issues and acting as observers during elections, need to know they can operate without any fear of deregistration or criminal penalties.”

Stop Drug Abuse, President Chamisa Tells Mnangagwa

Mnangagwa’s Blue Lies Exposed

FIFA Punishes Uruguay National Team Players

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has hit four Uruguay national team players with match bans following an incident in the side’s 2022 World Cup match against Ghana.

Fernando Muslera and Jose Maria Gimenez have received four-match bans, while Diego Godin and Edinson Cavani have been suspended for a game each after they confronted German referee, Daniel Siebert.

The players were incensed by the referee’s calls during the encounter, especially the decisions not to award penalties for tackles on Darwin Nunez in the first half and Cavani in the second period.

On top of the match bans, the quartet will also do football-related community service, and pay fines of up to 20,000 Swiss francs ($21,701).

The Uruguayan football federation has also been fined 50,000 Swiss francs ($54,248) and handed a partial stadium closure for their next home match over the “discriminatory behaviour of its supporters” and the “misconduct” of the players.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Ronaldo Fails To Inspire Al Nassr

Al Nassr coach Rudi Garcia has blamed Cristiano Ronaldo for the team’s Saudi Super Cup semi-final exit.

The Portuguese star endured a frustrating outing on Thursday against Al-Ittihad, managing just one attempt on target during the match.

The effort went straight to the hands of the keeper, from a good position, and Al-Ittihad doubled their lead just 28 seconds later.

Al Nassr did pull one back through Anderson Talisca but Muhannad Shanqeeti’s strike deep into injury time killed the contest.

Speaking after the game, Garcia said he thinks that the outcome could have been different if Ronaldo had not fluffed his opportunity at that crucial moment.

“One of the things that changed the course of the match was Cristiano’s missed opportunity in the first half,’ Garcia assessed after the game.

“I congratulate Al-Ittihad. They presented a much better first half than us, and we played a good second half, but unfortunately we were not able to adjust the result. It’s true that we regret losing the Super Cup, but we are still the first in the league.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

CCC Youth Leader Takes On Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri| They say what goes around comes around.

The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has been strongly warned against tormenting political foes.

However, the Zanu PF frontman who rose to power after staging a soft coup in 2017, is terrorising CCC members at will.

On Thursday CCC Youth Taskforce spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma castigated Mr Mnangagwa for harassing the elderly over political differences.

“A regime that persecutes the elderly must have no peace.

Mnangagwa has crossed the Rubicon fellow citizens! Why abusing senior citizens like this? Retweet to expose the dictator’s cruelty.
