Arrest Meant To Deny Me Time To Campaign: Gomba

Former Harare mayor, Herbert Gomba’s lawyers yesterday said his arrest on perjury charges was politically-motivated to deny him time to campaign for the March 26 by-elections.

Gomba, who was being represented by Harrison Nkomo and Garikai Mhishi, appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.

He was remanded in custody to today for a bail hearing.

The State, represented by Lancelot Mutsokoti opposed bail, saying Gomba was a flight risk as he faced other charges, falsified his address and had several people registered under his residence.

But Nkomo said Gomba was a suitable candidate for bail since he had not violated previous bail conditions.

Nkomo also argued that denying Gomba bail was political persecution to deny him an opportunity to canvass for votes ahead of the polls.

The State alleges that on an unknown date in 2017, Gomba submitted a false address during a voter registration exercise.

Was HMetro “Just Evil” in Covering Madam Boss Extra Marital Failing?

By Showbiz Reporter | Your newspaper is evil, sent by Devil to destroy other people’s families, the tabloid HMetro was slammed by businessman, Moreboys Munetsi, among a host of other businessmen, over its screaming coverage of the Madam Boss husband Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa’s extramarital failings without obtaining broader facts around the matter.

Yes people can make mistakes, but deep issues such as marital affairs require all angles of a story.

Munetsiwa (popularly known as Mhofu) was accused of dating a woman who is now threatening suicide, Ngonidzashe Evangelister Zhou.

Mhofu is the sociallite, Madam Boss’s husband and they have been married for several years from the time the felebrity was still a humble maid.

Wrote Munetsi in full: Your newspaper is evil, sent by Devil to destroy other people’s families. What was your motive to publish the story? Imimi kubasa kwenyu varume nevakadzi you are innocent hapana ane girlfriend or boyfriend? Saka zvatanga na Ngoni tomboti kudaro? No one is perfect we are all sinners. Let’s preach the gospel of love, peace, reconciliation and forgiveness.

The socialites, Bev Sibanda, and Tatelicious Karigambe have said the paper lied. But the lover’s own church has published a statement confirming the whole story.
The briefing by the Church of Asaph reads in part:
“Greetings all saints in the name of Jesus. “From the Apostle’s office to clarify the news going around on social media. “It’s a complicated issue involving our youth member (Church of Asaph Zimbabwe) namely Ngonidzashe Evangelister Zhou (Ndhlovu).
“The story is true according to the source our daughter attempted to use the esteemed office of the Apostle to sugar-coat her immoral secret affair and suicidal videos threats.
“The church stands with all principles of serving the community and Biblical values without fear or favour.
“We condemn all acts of immorality and support families as the law of God.

“We encourage the Church to pray in such times and remain standing. “Our Apostle is sound and strong, sending love to all,” the church said in part.

It could not be estabilised at the time of writing how Madam Boss is handling the matter with her husband and ZimEye is following up on the story.

ZAPU Spurns Chamisa’s Offer, To Go It Alone In 2023

ZAPU has rejected an apparent proposal for support by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa in exchange for a return of the party’s properties seized at the height of the Gukurahundi atrocities if he wins power.

Chamisa claimed at a rally in Bulawayo recently that he would ensure his government would return Zapu’s properties, which include farms, buildings and factories.

But Zapu spokesperson, Msongelwa Ndlovu said his party was not interested in Chamisa’s benevolence, saying it was more than capable of handling its own affairs.

Ndlovu said Zapu, which will field the iconic late vice president Joshua Nkomo’s son, Sibangilizwe as its presidential candidate, in the 2023 general election, would take its properties back upon assuming power.

He said while Zapu was flattered to know that there is a party which finally cares about the return of its properties, it was in the race to solve the problems on its own.

“It is encouraging that other parties view the issue of Zapu properties and Matabeleland resources with the urgency and importance it deserves. Our devolution model directly speaks to these issues and we are hopeful that Zimbabweans will vote for Zapu in 2023 in order for us to use God given resources to transform their communities and livelihoods,” Ndlovu said.

“We are contesting the 2023 elections in the hope that we form the next government at best, or at least that we are part of it. Those are part of many unresolved matters we are going to be addressing, no wonder our mantra of “finishing the unfinished business,” he said.

Another Political Party Launched

By A Correspondent- A Zimbabwean businesswoman, Elizabeth Valerio, has launched an opposition party saying the local and international community should take a proactive role in ensuring that the 2023 harmonized elections are free, fair and credible.

Officially launching the party in Harare on Wednesday, Valerio, who is the interim president of the United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA), said she is confident of victory in the 2023 elections and the forthcoming council and parliamentary by-election in which her party has fielded four can

She said her party would set up 30 companies in various sectors of the economy before the next elections.

Some ordinary people have welcomed the party’s stance on rebuilding Zimbabwe before it is even elected into office.

But some analysts say there are too many political parties in Zimbabwe that normally split votes in critical national elections.

A large number of opposition parties participated in the 2018 general elections, which also featured 23 presidential candidates.-VOA

Tongai Matutu Tears Into “Brainless” Opposition Parties

By A Correspondent- Former Masvingo Urban MP, Tongai Matutu, who defected to ZANU PF said he was the “best brains” during his time in opposition.

Matutu left the then MDC Alliance that was led by Nelson Chamisa after he was disqualified from contesting the provincial chairmanship post ahead of the 2019 Gweru Congress.

Matutu is among several former MDC officials who are being used by the ruling ZANU PF party to de-campaign their erstwhile colleagues ahead of the 26 March by-elections.

During a recent ZANU PF campaign rally at Pangolin shopping centre, Matutu was asked to address supporters by the provincial chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa. Said Matutu:

There is nothing there, I have been there you know it and I am one of the few who had brains and now that we are no longer there, who else is there?

There are two types of votes, spoiled and counted votes, spoiled are those where you fail to put an X where it is required or voting for two or more candidates and also voting for the opposition is now spoiling a vote.

So I want to urge you to vote for Zanu PF to avoid spoiling your votes.

ZANU PF secretary for security and senator for Gutu District Lovemore Matuke said Matutu will be invaluable for the ruling party in its quest to win all wards previously held by the opposition. He said:

We are going to win the by-election here in Masvingo urban. We have Comrade Matutu here whom we are travelling with.

He knows the valves to open so that things work in our favour.

Posting on Twitter, Information Secretary Nick Mangwana said Mnangagwa left for Zambia this morning.

“HE @edmnangagwa has left for Zambia to attend the funeral of the the late Rupiah Bwezani Banda. President Banda is remembered for his unflinching call for removal of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe. He was born in Gwanda in 1937 in the then Southern Rhodesia,” said Mangwana.

Police Persecute Cross-border Buses

By- Law-enforcement agents in Beitbridge have been accused of persecuting cross border buses for making some of them get arrested.

The police and soldier have impounded 15 buses and accused them of carrying smuggled goods worth millions in import duty.

The buses were intercepted at the Dulivhadzimu bus terminus and on the highways from Beitbridge to Bulawayo and Harare and other urban centres.

Bus crew members who spoke to Two Nations claimed that police officers and soldiers who intercepted the buses said that they were punishing the bus companies for getting their colleagues arrested.

Eighteen (18) uniformed officers were arrested by officers from the Anti-Corruption Unit at a roadblock outside Beitbridge on Saturday allegedly after receiving R2 000 bribe from a Sables Class Bus crew.

Mandeep Bus manager, John Marima, told Two Nations that the police officers who commandeered their busses to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) offices told them that the arrests were payback for getting their colleagues arrested. Said Marima:

They said they were arresting us because of Sable Class which reported their workmates and got them arrested for taking bribes.

We have passengers that are stranded with nothing to eat. This is bad for a professional police to be vindictive.

This move is to deter us from making negative reports against the police. After setting this example there is no bus that will report police again for bribe-taking.

The police will actually take bribes on a higher scale from now onwards.

The Chronicle reported that the buses were impounded by the National Security Taskforce.

The publication quoted Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi as saying the police will not hesitate to arrest those involved in smuggling. He said:

We will not hesitate to arrest anyone involved in crime, especially smuggling or corrupt activities.

Our targets are individuals, syndicates, security personnel, companies and transporters engaging in the illegal movement of goods across the borders.

We strongly advise anyone wishing to import or export goods through our borders to do so within the confines of the existing Customs and Excise laws.

Madam Boss’ Hubby Impregnates Girlfriend, Dumps Her

By- Madam Boss’ husband, Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa, has torched a storm after a woman he allegedly impregnated threatened to take her life.

His shenanigans with Evangelister Zhou, an assistant dentist at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, came to light on Monday when the latter disclosed her intention to terminate the pregnancy.

Eva went on to post a video of herself downing a pesticide, threatening to take her life.

She said she was fed up of being abused by Ngonidzashe who reportedly sent someone to rush her to a doctor.

However, when contacted by H-Metro, Ngonidzashe denied knowledge of Eva, describing the allegations as one of many stories cooked up to tarnish his image.

Eva told H-Metro Ngonidzashe had been ignoring her calls and messages since Friday, prompting her to confide in Pastor Jairos Maphosa of the Church of Asaph.

“Ngonidzashe has been ignoring me since Friday,” said Eva.
“He is responsible for my pregnancy and when I sent him a video of myself downing a pesticide, he sent one of his friends to take me to a doctor.
“If you publish this story my fear is to be dumped forever.
“My relatives are not happy to see me marrying Ngoni.
“If you publish this story I will surely come to be your second wife,” said Eva.
Ngonidzashe vehemently denied any knowledge of Eva saying a number of people had been calling him enquiring about the matter.
“You are not the first person asking me about Eva, but truly speaking, I do not know her.
“If you may send me her photographs,” said Ngonidzashe.

After receiving the photograph, he refused to entertain H-Metro.
He then sent threatening messages to Eva and barred her from talking to H-Metro.
However, Pastor Maphosa realised Ngoni was abusing her and exposed Madam Boss husband.
Pastor Maphosa told H-Metro Ngoni threatened Eva with unspecified action if she continued talking to the media.
“Evangelister has been fellowshipping with us for some time from the time she was still living in Mberengwa,” said Pastor Maphosa.
“She relocated to Harare and is still under church custody since she is an orphan and I could not allow someone to continue abusing her.
Yesterday, (Monday) she sent some messages, including videos of herself taking a pesticide and threatening to take her life because of Ngonidzashe.
“She accused Ngoni of forcing her to terminate a pregnancy for the second time and this touched my heart.
“I am in South Africa, but I openly told Eva that Ngoni’s evil acts must be exposed because he was abusing her.
“This is not the first time Eva has threatened to take her life. She did the same after she was forced to terminate her first pregnancy.
“Hanzi zvikazivikanwa ndinorarama sei naMadam Boss uye iye Ngoni arikuti unozviona chete saka nyarara.
“I have all the WhatsApp conversations between me and Eva, including the video she sent me.
“I warned Eva over dating a married man, but I cannot allow Ngonidzashe to continue abusing this woman by taking advantage of her background, no.
“Eva is afraid of Madam Boss, but she wanted to be a second wife to Ngonidzashe.
“We are against that decision of dating a married man,” said Pastor Maphosa. H Metro

14 March 2023

RURAL BY ELECTIONS WATCH

…from an eagle eye…

By TIMOTH MUSWERE

CCC bulldozes into Mwenezi east as By election campaign reaches its peak.

Mwenezians goes into ecstatic Song and Dance as a remarkable welcome for Change.

It was indeed an electric weekend on 12 and 14March as the National and Provincial Champions descended in Mwenezi east for hectic entertaining campaign program. National Women’s Champions leader Hon Mugidho, Ldr Matara and Ldr Rosiwitta Madzivire endured the hot conditions of Mwenezi all through the weekend. Provincial Champions Ldr Stemere,Mai Magomana,L Mapuranga,Mutubuki and T.Muswere amounted the offensive into vibe. The Mwenezi east CCC leadership and the contesting candidate Hon Mandizvidza were clear and no pushovers in the game as they directed through the pathways ,the hotspots and the mountains of the political ground of the constituency.

Fear out of intimidation by Zanu pf thugs ,some uniformed forces and some traditional leaders has always been the challenge in Mwenezi.

However from the observation people are ready for change and indeed show that they know whom can rescue them into Canaan ‘advocate Chamisa’. Around all townships and growth points reached wild ululation ,song and dance was the oder of the day as even war veterans and civil servants embraced the Yellow movement.

At Matibi Mission and shopping centre people went Into a wild cherry moment as drinkers left from their bars and residents joining the gear. The crowd could be heard shouting “Ngavapinde Hake Mukomana” as the vigil like moments went through the night within the curfew hours. Ward 2,3,4,5,13 and 18 were covered with many townships also engulfed by the Yellow Mwenezi wave namely Chimbudzi,Matibi,Murawi,Musaverima,Shazhaume,Sarahuru,Masvitsi,Mucheni among others.

Neshuro growth point stood to a halt as even hospital personal ,touts and general travellers took to their dancing shoes and some into the index finger waving in show of support.

The roadshow proceeded into the resettlement areas formerly used to be Zanu pf’s untouchable territory. However people showed that they now understand it better that Land is for Citizens and not Zanu pf hence no one should take it from them because of political affiliation.

One Zanu pf member a war veteran and businessman at Masvitsi shops threatened the CCC team from putting a poster at an electric pole claiming that it was his own property however he was resisted forthwith openly loud and clear. This instilled some villagers at the shops into dance without fear of victimization.

In Rutenga the atmosphere proved beyond reasonable doubt that they have done it before and they are going to finish it off again on 26march and 2023. However at all places reached, people cried out for regalia and for the president to come as they wished to see him live again in Mwenezi.

During the campaign travel tour to and from Mwenezi east the team also pulled a campaign trigger in Chivi South at Ngundu,Lundi,Chibi turn off to ganner support for Honourable Mhlolo who joined the show in Ngundu.

The stopovers were just so ecstatically powered by the loud far reaching PA system to the song of the moment,” Ngaapinde Hake” Mukomana. Tapera Sengweni, Douglas Mwonzora party’s legal advisor, made the withdrawal.

A letter dated March 15, 2022 from the ConCourt addressed to Mbidzo, Muchadehama and Makoni Legal Practitioners, who were representing Election Resource Centre, said Sengweni had withdrawn his application.

Met Department Warns Of Thunderstorms

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) of Zimbabwe says Bulawayo, Matebeleland North and South provinces should expect thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bulawayo had light showers on Monday, which people thought was the end of the long dry spell that suffocated crops with moisture stress.

In the rural areas of Matabeleland North and South, most crops have been affected by the dry spell and some farmers are counting their losses, especially those that had planted maize.

Last week Government said it will implement measures to ease the effects of climate change that has resulted in a prolonged dry spell in the country and people must not panic as there are adequate stocks of cereals.

MSD head of forecasting Mr James Ngoma said the rains will affect Tsholotsho, Lupane and Gwanda.

“All three provinces, Matabeleland North, South and Bulawayo will be affected by thunderstorms and also parts of Midlands provinces. We are expecting it for Tuesday into Wednesday and then as we get further into the week it becomes less,” said Mr Ngoma.

“It has been rather dry and we are expecting heavy downpours in places, especially parts of Bulawayo, Tsholotsho district and parts of Lupane and Gwanda. But because it has been dry for the past few weeks, we don’t expect much in terms of flash flooding, but more in terms of heavy rains.”

Mr Ngoma said the rains will mark the end of the season.

“These are normal periodic rains that we get towards the end of the season and as we get cloud bands coming in. At the beginning of the season, we get these cloud bands and at the end we get them also. They are coming from Botswana into the western parts of the country, spreading eastwards to the rest of the country,” said Mr Ngoma.

Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa last week said according to a report by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka, climate change was biting farmers, but assured the nation that there are enough food stocks.- Chronicle

Magistrate Shockingly Convicts Woman Of Rape

A 27-year-old Bikita woman was convicted or raping a teenager, by a magistrate.

The woman has since been cleared of rape by another Masvingo magistrate after the court ruled that her ashamed teenage lover had cooked up rape charges against her.

Melania Masuka of Musavengana Village was acquitted of rape by Masvingo magistrate Mr Bishard Chineka after it emerged that the woman was in love with her 19-year-old rape accuser.

Mr Chineka freed the accused after noting inconsistencies in the testimony by the complainant.

This was after the woman proved to the court that the two were in fact lovers and had been intimate using protection several times but the complainant only later on got ashamed that he was dating a woman older than him.

It also emerged during cross examination that the complainant’s mother was the one who pressurised her son to make a false report to the police.

Allegations against the woman were that on October 26 last year while he was looking for cattle she met the complainant who was looking for cattle.

She was accused to have sprayed the complainant with an unknown substance prompting him to feel dizzy.

The woman was then alleged to have dragged the complainant about 100 metres away to an abandoned building where she reportedly forced herself on him and threatened to kill him if he reported to anyone.

A police report was made two months later after the complainant fell sick and lied to his mother that he had been raped. Mr Liberty Hove appeared for the State. Herald

Receiving An Unshakable Kingdom

Sabbath School Summary

By Dr Elder Masimba Mavaza

Lesson 12

Memory Text: Hebrews 12:28

Memory Text: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear”

Introduction

Hebrews 12:18-29, the passage for this week, is the climax of the letter, and it sums up its main concern by repeating the idea with which it started: God has spoken to us in the person of His Son, and we need to pay careful attention (Heb. 1:1, 2; Heb. 12:25) to Him. The description of Jesus in Hebrews 12:22-24 epitomizes the letter’s assertions about Him: Jesus is the Mediator of the new covenant, and His blood provides salvation for believers. His priestly and royal ministry in our behalf is a cause for celebration for the heavenly hosts. And finally, Hebrews 12:25-29 contains the last and climactic exhortation: God’s judgment is coming. It will bring destruction to His enemies—but vindication and a kingdom to His people (Heb. 12:28, 29). The ending reaffirms the importance of Jesus’ achievements at the cross and directs believers to the consummation of Jesus’ victory at the Second Coming. Paul used imagery from Daniel 7 to remind the readers that Jesus has received a kingdom from God, the Judge (Dan. 7:9-14), and is going to share His kingdom with believers, “the saints of the Most High,” who will possess it forever and ever (Dan. 7:18).

SABBATH: Jesus began His work on earth by being hungry, yet He’s the Bread of Life. At the end of His ministry, He had no mediator to plead on His behalf before Pilate, yet He’s our mediator in heaven. Paul from onset bid us to heed to Jesus (Heb. 1:1, 2; 12:18-29). His blood saves us, He’s the Mediator of the new covenant, & He gives joy & victory (Heb. 12:25-29). He’ll judge the world (Dan. 7:9-14, 18).

SUNDAY: When Christ mounted in triumph to His throne in Mt. Zion, angels feasted with Him. By faith in Christ, our names are listed in the books of heaven & we share in the feast (Heb. 12:22-24, Exod. 32:32, Ps. 56:8, Dan. 12:1, Mal. 3:16, Luke 10:20, Rev. 13:8, 17:8). We’re the “firstborn” by the merits of Christ & God’s our Father (Heb. 1:16, Phil. 3:20, Heb. 12:9, 23, 5:6, 7:11-22, Ps. 2:6, 7, 110:1, 2; 102:21-27).

MONDAY: The redemption of the saints is also the condemnation of sinners. God is a just Judge! There is a pre-advent judgement before the second advent. From the Book of remembrance & Book of life, all fates will be decided. The scene in Hebrews & Daniel are similar (Heb. 12:23, Dan. 7:9, 10, 13-22 & Heb. 12:22-29). Christ is our champion & our best model (Heb. 2:6, 9, see Heb. 12:28, Dan. 7, & Rev. 13).

TUESDAY: Christ’s installment as our High Priest does not guarantee our salvation. A great shaking will occur in the future (Heb. 12:26). Hence, we need to hear God’s voice. The OT uses “shaking” to signify God’s judgement/salvation (Judg. 5:20). Christ will defeat His enemies (Hag. 2:6-9, 20-22, Ps. 96:9, 10; 99:1, 68:7, 8, 60:2, 77:17, 18; Heb. 12:26, 27, 1:13, 2:14-16, 1:5-14, 10:11-14, 1 Cor. 15:23-25).

WEDNESDAY: God’s kingdom is unshakable like Himself. “Shaking” when used does not imply that God will remove the heavens & the earth & they’ll be forever gone (Ps. 15:5, 16:8, 21:7, 62:2, 112:6, Heb. 12:27). Howbeit, God will create new heavens & earth & we’ll have new bodies (Isa. 65:17, Rev. 21:1-4, 1 Thess. 4:13-17, Phil. 3:20). The “shaking” is recreation (see Heb. 1:10-12, 7:3, 24, 10:34, 12:28).

THURSDAY: The fresh blessings of each day should awaken gratitude in us. The rituals of the sanctuary service was the way the people showed repentance & gratitude to God. Yet, God was pleased not by animal blood but the gratitude (Heb. 12:28, 13:15, 16, Ps. 50:7-23, Isa. 1:11-17). Now, our gratitude is shown by right worship (Heb. 3:1, 4:14, 10:10-14, 19-23, Exod. 19:4, 5, 6; 1 Pet. 2:9, 10; Rev. 1:6; 5:10).

FRIDAY: After the second advent of Christ, there’s a 1,000-year time period, the Millennium, where the saints reside in heaven & the devil & the wicked are judged. At this time, the saints will reign as kings & priests unto God (1 Cor. 4:5, Dan. 7:22, Rev. 20:4, 6, 1 Cor. 6:2). The saints will unite with Christ & judge the wicked. Satan & his angels will also be judged (Jude 6). God cars & is a just Judge!

Discussion Questions

? What does the participation of the saints in the judgment of the wicked (1 Cor. 6:3, Jude 6) say about God and how transparent He will be with us in showing us His goodness and fairness in how He has dealt with sin and evil?

? Read Exodus 32:32, Psalm 56:8, Psalm 69:28, Psalm 139:16, Isaiah 4:3, Daniel 12:1, Malachi 3:16, Luke 10:20, Revelation 13:8, and Revelation 17:8. These are references to God’s books in heaven. What kinds of things are registered in these books? Why is it important that God maintains a record of our tears (Ps. 56:8), for example? If God knows everything, what is the purpose of such books or records?

? Why do you think it is important that Hebrews ends the argument of the epistle with a link to the promises of Daniel 7? Why are these links important in the context of Jesus’ ministry in heaven? What does Daniel 7 teach us about the end of all earthly and fallen things?

Zim Murderer Flees Botswana On Bike

A ZIMBABWEAN man living illegally in Botswana has been arrested for strangling an elderly Motswana woman to death and stealing her bicycle which he rode to Zimbabwe.
The murder took place on Valentine’s Day.

According to Botswana media, villagers in Tutume area in Botswana on the border with rural Bulilima in Matabeleland South province effected citizen arrest on Bhekimpilo Moyo of Chidiwe village in Ndolwane area.

He had allegedly killed a 70-year-old woman identified as Chanda Kugwa before villagers caught him.

The woman rode a bicycle to her fields and Moyo allegedly followed her and killed her before fleeing to Ndolwane in Zimbabwe.

Moyo has since appeared before a magistrates’ court in Masunga, Botswana, charged with entering the country unlawfully, murder and prosecutors indicated a possible additional rape charge.

Moyo was remanded in custody because he is a flight risk and will be back in court on Monday next week for routine remand.

Allegations are that Moyo strangled the old woman to death in order to steal her bicycle, which he rode to Zimbabwe.

The now deceased was last seen going to her fields riding a bicycle and when she did not return home in the evening, her brother followed her and found her dead body in the field.

The witness phoned police who attended the scene and rushed the unconscious Kugwa to a local clinic where she was confirmed dead.

There were visible injuries raising suspicion that she had been strangled.

“Where she was lying we spotted a stranger’s shoe print that we suspected was of the person who murdered her and stole her bicycle.

Our investigations led to the arrest of the Zimbabwean man,” said Tutume Superintendent Station Commander Jerry Halahala, quoted in media in Botswana.

Members of the public effected citizen arrest on Moyo and handed him to the police.

A video of the citizen’s arrested was trending on Facebook last week and Moyo admitted in the video that he killed the elderly woman and fled to Ndolwane village in Zimbabwe with her bicycle.

He then returned to Setabataba village in Botswana to visit his girlfriend who stays there and that’s when members of the public apprehended him. Chronicle

Health Experts Speak On Abortion

Based on the latest scientific evidence, these consolidated guidelines bring together over 50 recommendations spanning clinical practice, health service delivery, and legal and policy interventions to support quality abortion care.

New recommendations to improve access to high quality, person-centred services
When abortion is carried out using a method recommended by WHO, appropriate to the duration of the pregnancy and assisted by someone with the necessary information or skills, it is a simple and extremely safe procedure.

Tragically, however, only around half of all abortions take place under such conditions, with unsafe abortions causing around 39 000 deaths every year and resulting in millions more women hospitalized with complications. Most of these deaths are concentrated in lower-income countries – with over 60% in Africa and 30% in Asia – and among those living in the most vulnerable situations.

The guideline includes recommendations on many simple primary care level interventions that improve the quality of abortion care provided to women and girls.

These include task sharing by a wider range of health workers; ensuring access to medical abortion pills, which mean more women can obtain safe abortion services, and making sure that accurate information on care is available to all those who need it.

For the first time, the guidelines also include recommendations for use where appropriate of telemedicine, which helped support access to abortion and family planning services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Removing unnecessary policy barriers facilitates safe abortion access
Alongside the clinical and service delivery recommendations, the guidelines recommend removing medically unnecessary policy barriers to safe abortion, such as criminalization, mandatory waiting times, the requirement that approval must be given by other people (e.g., partners or family members) or institutions, and limits on when during pregnancy an abortion can take place. Such barriers can lead to critical delays in accessing treatment and put women and girls at greater risk of unsafe abortion, stigmatization, and health complications, while increasing disruptions to education and their ability to work.

While most countries permit abortion under specified circumstances, about 20 countries provide no legal grounds for abortion. More than 3 in 4 countries have legal penalties for abortion, which can include lengthy prison sentences or heavy fines for people having or assisting with the procedure.

“It’s vital that an abortion is safe in medical terms,” said Dr Bela Ganatra, Head of WHO’s Prevention of Unsafe Abortion Unit. “But that’s not enough on its own. As with any other health services, abortion care needs to respect the decisions and needs of women and girls, ensuring that they are treated with dignity and without stigma or judgement. No one should be exposed to abuse or harms like being reported to the police or put in jail because they have sought or provided abortion care.”

Evidence shows that restricting access to abortions does not reduce the number of abortions that take place. In fact, restrictions are more likely to drive women and girls towards unsafe procedures. In countries where abortion is most restricted, only 1 in 4 abortions are safe, compared to nearly 9 in 10 in countries where the procedure is broadly legal.

“The evidence is clear – if you want to prevent unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortions, you need to provide women and girls with a comprehensive package of sexuality education, accurate family planning information and services, and access to quality abortion care,” Dr Ganatra added.

Following the launch of the guidelines, WHO will support interested countries to implement these new guidelines and strengthen national policies and programmes related to contraception, family planning and abortion services, helping them provide the highest standard of care for women and girls.

Quality abortion care is care that is effective – delivered by health workers with the right skills, resources, and information; safe; accessible to all those that need it; timely, and respectful of women and girls’ needs and rights.

The WHO abortion care guideline updates the former edition, released in 2012, and consolidates existing and new recommendations. The digital version is available at https://srhr.org/abortioncare

Two Die Saving Goat From Well

By-Two Insuza men drowned after they fell into a well while trying to rescue a goat that had fallen inside.

Police confirmed the death of 48-year-old Themba Nyathi and Mabutho Sibanda (36) of Dundubala, Insuza in Matabeleland North.

“Police confirm the death of Themba Nyathi (48) of Dundubala, Insuza and Mabutho Sibanda (36) of Makhondo village Nyamandlovu who drowned in a well at Lucky Khumalo’s homestead, Dundubala, Insuza on the 14th day of March 2022. On the fateful day, Themba Nyathi arrived home from the fields and found a piece of zinc sheet which was used to close the well missing. He suspected that there might be a goat which fell inside the well. Together with the help of his son, they prepared some ropes and hooks to fish out the zinc and the goat,” said Matebeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda.
He said as they were preparing to go down the well two other villagers joined in and assisted in lowering them down.
“During the process, two other villagers arrived at the well and found the two trying to rescue the goat. With the help of these two villagers, Nyathi was lowered down the well using a rope. After a while, he complained of breathing difficulties. Other villagers were advised of the developments and they came to rescue him.”
It is said that after suspecting that Nyathi could still be alive one of the villagers, Sibanda volunteered to go on a rescue mission of Nyathi.
“Villagers suspected that Themba Nyathi was still alive and one Mabutho Sibanda volunteered to get down the well so that he could rescue him. He was also lowered down by way of ropes. Whilst inside the well, he got off the rope and there was no communication from him.”
A report was made to police who attended the scene before the Sub Aqua unit retrieved the two bodies from the well the following day.
Insp. Banda appealed to members of the public to avoid entering water bodies without expertise on rescue missions but instead report all cases of drowning to police to activate experts such as the Sub Aqua unit.

Chamisa Agrees To Pay USD100 Billion Compensation for Matabeleland Genocide?

By Israel Dube | In his own words, Chamisa told a rally in Tsholotsho 3 days ago, “there is this issue of Gukurahundi. I told the late former President Robert Mugabe and the current Zanu-PF leadership that you cannot sweep Gukurahundi under the carpet. This is an unresolved national question which you are unable to solve because you caused it. We can solve it.” This he has said in all his rallies he addressed in Matabeleland so far.

Since Nelson Chamisa has promised to make Matabeleland genocide his first priority should he win Zimbabwe elections, he must meet our two demands which are as follows:

I) Restoration of Matebeleland State as at 3 November 1893 and emerge and join the family of nations as The Republic of Matebeleland

2) Pay US$100billion dollars reparations for Matebele genocide done by the Zimbabwe government through Zimbabwe National Army 5th brigade in 1981-1987

Pope: …….celebrated Matebele genocide and thanked late dictator Robert Mugabe and current dictator Emmerson Mnangagwa and other genocidist in government and Zaupf party before they sleep

If he meets the above demands in full then we will listen to him. However, it must sink into his head that in no terms shall he choose the solution for us. We will choose the solution ourselves as indicated above and will not depart from it to be Shona slaves.

It is not surprising that even a little Shona boy like Chamisa who was still in his mother’s nappies during Matabeleland genocide believes that such a complicated matter is a small issue that he will easily solve. This is because Shona people have come to believe their own lies that they were appointed by God to lead Matabele people and turn them into their slaves forever.

Even Matabeleland genocide perpetrators, their hands dripping with the blood of our innocent relatives, believe that they have a solution for Matabeleland genocide just because they are Shona. What a shame!

In our last article we exposed this tired and annoying tactic by Shona leaders who shed crocodile tears as soon as they touch Matabeleland soil for sole purpose of gathering votes in Matabeleland territory. We are tired of this hypocrisy and pretence. It is annoying and causes more pain for the surviving victims of Matabeleland genocide. We know that all Shona people celebrated Matebele genocide and thanked late dictator Robert Mugabe and current dictator Emmerson Mnangagwa and other genocidist in government and Zaupf party before they sleep.

If Chamisa cannot promise to meet our two demands then he must forget about Matabeleland and concentrate on fixing tribal divisions within CCC that threaten to tear it apart.

According to reliable sources, CCC leader and ‘owner’ Nelson Chamisa, is on the hunt for a weak, tame and Shona worshiping Matabele in Matabeleland to replace Welshman Ncube as CCC Vice President. Welshman Ncube is accused of being a “stubborn Matabele fundamentalist”. We advise him to buy an air ticket in time and keep his bags packed because Shona supremacist are coming to kick him out of Harare again.
This is how they deal with Matabele people in Harare, Mashonaland.

They would rather split the party along tribal lines and risk losing elections than have a Matabele lead them even for one hour. Further more, we hear that Shona supremacists are guarding the CCC doors very tightly these days to keep Thokozani Khupe from making a come back. She is seen as a threat to Shona supremacism because of her Presidential ambitions. The position of President is reserved for Shonas in the CCC and for now it has been taken by one Shona, Nelson Chamisa without going to elections.

Shona people and their leaders must understand that that we do not want Shona leaders, we have our own. In fact we know how to differentiate between criminals and tyrants from Mashonaland who have a proven DNA of theft & corruption and genuine leaders.

We do not need their political ideas. If they have any at all, which we doubt very much, they must implement them in Zimbabwe and rescue it from being a failed state that it is currently.

We do not want to be misruled and oppressed by Shona people. We want to govern ourselves and develop our Country, The Republic of Matabeleland and turn it into Africa’ s economic power-house within the first 10 years of our independence and self rule.

Viva The Republicof Matabeleland viva!!

Ayihlomi’hlasele!!

Izenzo kungemazwi!

Police Impound 15 Cross-border Buses

By- Law-enforcement agents have impounded 15 buses carrying suspected smuggled goods worth millions of dollars in import duty in Beitbridge.

Madam Boss’ Hubby In Infidelity Storm

H Metro

Mwonzora Gives In To By-Elections

By- The opposition MDC-T has made a U-turn on its decision to have the March 26 by-elections nullified.

The party’s legal advisor Tapera Sengweni Tuesday withdrew his Constitutional Court (ConCourt) challenge seeking to stop the by-elections.

A letter dated March 15, 2022 from the ConCourt addressed to Mbidzo, Muchadehama and Makoni Legal Practitioners, who were representing Election Resource Centre, said Sengweni had withdrawn his application.
The election watchdog had applied for a joinder in the case.
“Please, be advised that the first and second applicant’s applications under CCZ13/22 were dismissed on March 11 2022.
This was precipitated by a notice of withdrawal filed by the parties on March 8, 2022.
As a result of the withdrawal and the dismissal of the application, there is no matter to which your client may apply for joinder.
Please be guided accordingly.”
Sengweni had argued that President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission failed to proclaim the polls within the stipulated 90-day period after the seats became vacant.
Other applicants in the matter were Vinnah Mbele, Edify Kudzaishe Vushoma and Phanuel Tsvanu.
Zimbabwe is set to hold by-elections next Saturday.
The by-elections were triggered by recalls, deaths and diplomatic postings. Newsday

Fake Valerio Sibanda Q Account Publishes Nation-Address

A fake account attributed to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander Valerio Sibanda has published the below statement purportedly by him .

ZimEye warns our viewers and listeners that the said so called statement is not at all from the general and the account owner may be just a poet.

Good day to our beloved citizens!

I would like to encourage all citizens to remain peaceful and campaign freely without intimidation from any political party. While operation restore legacy had it’s shortcomings, it was a neccessary operation. Moving forward, i demand that the government respects it’s citizens and allow them to enjoy the full freedoms derived from our liberation struggle.

I will not preside over a military that does not uphold the constitution. We will remain as professional as we can under the difficult conditions we are operating under.
We would like to thwart all allegations doing the rounds in different social media platforms to the effect that the JOC had a meeting intending to declare a state of emergency and postpone 2023 elections. Those allegations are false baseless and only imaginary in the minds of people the authors of the story. There are no such bases for us to declare a state of emergency.

I want to take this opportunity to denounce with the strongest terms all the violence that is taking place during this campaign period.
May we be reminded that we all Zimbabweans first before we are identified by our varied political affiliation.
As i conclude, be reminded that if you are used in acts of violence for which ever political party you stand for, just know that your day of judgement will come and the long arm of the law will catch up with you. It might not be today, but justice will be served. Be warned!

I wish all citizens of this beautiful country a healthy and peaceful campaigning period.

The General.

Man Murders Pregnant Wife

By- A 22-year-old pregnant woman died at the hands of her violent and abusive husband.

The deceased left behind a three-year-old minor child and her pregnancy status was revealed through a postmortem.

Her husband, Macdonald Chivero (31), has since been sentenced to four years in prison, without the option of a fine, by High Court Judge Justice Lucie-Anne Mungwari.

The row between the couple was based on accusations of infidelity.

The State alleged the couple’s relationship was characterised by domestic disputes, with Chivero in the habit of assaulting his late wife.

Allegations are that on February 14, 2021, Chivero struck his wife on the head with an iron bar.

Two weeks later, he attacked her again, all over her body, using fists and hands.
The matter was reported to the police.
Despite the police report, on March 14, 2021, Chivero again assaulted his wife with a pot and, two days later, she started vomiting blood. Five days later, the deceased was taken by her aunt to her parent’s house for spiritual cleansing but later died.
In her ruling, Justice Mungwari noted that Chivero had displayed shocking behaviour.
“The callousness displayed by the accused towards his own pregnant wife is more than shocking, it is also alarming,” ruled the judge.
“The persistent prolonged and intermittent assaults upon her dictate that she could not have survived. The very act of using violence at all, let alone on a pregnant woman, is an act of gross negligence.”
The judge added; “It should be made clear to the society that disputes, of whatever kind and manner, cannot and should not be resolved by violence as this, in most instances, results in the loss of life as occurred here.
“The factual circumstances suggest that the accused is a character that has a lot of anger issues and requires a lot of maturing.
“His personal circumstances are those where the accused needs to consciously rehabilitate himself towards non-violence.”
Justice Mungwari said a deterrent sentence would scare perpetrators.
“There is, therefore, a need for a deterrent sentence that will send word to men in the society that courts do not condone the battering of their wives.
Four years imprisonment, of which one year is suspended for five years on condition that the accused does not, within that period, commit any offence involving the use of violence on another person.”

“Please, be advised that the first and second applicant’s applications under CCZ13/22 were dismissed on the 11th of March 2022.
Newsday

Mavaza: CCC And Chamisa Invoke Gukurahundi In Outrageously False Campaign Promises

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | If promises of political parties were to be legally binding many will be in prison today. Politicians promise you heaven before elections and give you hell after.”

Dr Masimba Mavaza

It is true that the rate of compliance with election promises is erratic for most parties after coming to power. Political promises have a long history as they are written statements of the beliefs or aims of a party. Political promises are interesting because people get a glimpse of what is in store for them if the party they vote for comes to power. Political promises can be described as “a party’s contract with the electorate. The 21 year old new party CCC which was formed in 1998 and changed its name to CCC in 2022 could be asked one question, how they would achieve the poll promises of making an economic turn around in few weeks in office. It is true that CCC is making unrealistic promised because they know they will not come to power any sooner. While offering freebies CCC does not calculate the cost of implementing them.
So it is not the number of pledges a party makes but the intention to fulfill them, which matters. In ZANU PF manifestos are policy-based, generally covering the economic and foreign policy, healthcare, governance reform, environmental issues, this ZANU PF has done and can point to the developments done so far. The new dispensation has all its achievements in three years to show.
Poll chancers pretending to be politicians who make false promises must be punished.
Politicians knowingly making promises during elections campaigns that are pie-in-the-sky, should be charged for undermining voters’ ability to make informed choices.
Knowingly making false, unachievable and illegal campaign promises amounts to a political lie, breaches ethics and honesty. It is true that Chamisa and lies are from the same mother the devil. He no-longer feel ashamed of his lies.
In his party there are enough clowns like him. Imagine Tendai Biti telling the voters that Pogba a football player promised to come to Zimbabwe if the CcC wins. Seriously?
It is intended to deliberately deceive voters – many of whom are desperate, and do not know better. It now appears that even political CCC campaign speeches have been “captured”.
Outrageously false campaign promises undermine the credibility, legitimacy and trust in the country’s electoral system – and also in politics broadly.
Increasingly ahead of elections CCC leaders and parties are making false, unrealistic and unattainable promises in order to get the votes. Making false and unrealistic promises is unethical, immoral and irresponsible.
It shows a shocking disregard for the truth. Leaders and parties show their disrespect for poor, desperate voters by promising them things that are patently undeliverable. Making such promises are not in the best interests of the constituencies they purport to serve, neither is it in the best interests of the country.
False promises also undermine the credibility of information given to voters to base their voting decisions on. False campaign information, particularly in a society such as Zimbabwe with citizens who often do not have access to credible information, undermines the credibility of truthful, fact-based and evidence-based information, as unknowing ordinary citizens believe the false information they receive from cynical politicians and political parties.

Once again Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa pledged to bring closure to the Gukurahundi issue once he assumes power, saying Zanu PF officials were not in a hurry to resolve the matter since they were involved in the mass killings. This was another sensational but false promise from Chamisa who kicked out Khupe on tribal grounds. Now chamisa Wants to hoodwink the Matebeleland voters by promising them a closure to Gukurahundi

Gukurahundi atrocities is said to have claimed over 20 000 lives in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces after government deployed the North Korea-trained Fifth Brigade to hunt down suspected ex-Zipra insurgents in the 1980s. There is no official figure on this issue. It is an issue which was best described by the former president the late Cde RG Mugabe as a moment of madness. This is a matter of national interest and must not be allowed in the hands of children to use as a carrot.

When Chamisa was addressing party supporters at Tsholotsho Business Centre last week Chamisa said if he won the 2023 elections, his party would prioritise solving the Gukurahundi issue. He made it appear that there was nothing done to solve the issue. There was a ministry set by former president Robert Mugabe to deal with peace and reconciliation in Zimbabwe. Wounds were opened and treated. There sides to every coin and Gulurahundi was the darkest moment for our country.
No small Children from Children Circus Committee. CCC should be allowed to use those painful days as a campaigning tool.
Chamisa made these unfortunate sad days his campaign tool for 2023 and for the by-elections.
Tsholotsho is one of the districts in Matabeleland North province worst hit by the Gukurahundi massacres and Chamisa sought to invoke those memories in his campaign trail. Chamisa lied again to the Tsholotsho folks that he spoke to president Mugabe about this issue. There is no record of Chamisa saying anything about this issue. Chamisa was desperate to please the people of Tsholotsho by lying yo them.
Chamisa should be ashamed of using Gukurahundi as a campaign tool.
Chamisa in his speech promises retribution and an eye for an eye. The only thing Chamisa does not know is that eye for an eye makes the world blind.
Zimbabwe does not need another social upheaval. Zimbabwe needs peace and we have come this far for peace.
Chamisa is weak and promises unrealistic issues. Pretends to be macho man.Now he touches on very sensitive issues which can cause serious conflicts.
He is simply immature and stakeholders must ditch him. People must see beyond his childish comedy which he believes is politics.

Specific, headline-grabbing promises in party promises are a fairly recent thing. It was not always so and it is not something inherent in Zimbabwe’s parliamentary system. In fact it is incompatible with it, and the emphasis on such promises has created a misleading impression of the proper role of politicians and parliament.
Under a set of legal and moral obligations, it should be the responsibility of governments to govern in what they consider to be in the best interests of the country, rather than fulfil the promises and pledges of their party promises. Similarly, it is the responsibility of individual Zimbabwean to vote for the party with policies which they believe to be in the best interests of their constituents – and of the country as a whole not divisive dangerous campaign by CCC.
The promises of political parties are empty because they do not have the ability or the authority to pass the legislation or to promote the policies they promise. These are the roles of parliament and government and Chamisa must not false promises he knows he will never fulfil.
Chamisa’s promises offered a “smörgåsbord” of headline-grabbing promises, which are unrealistic and taking Zimbabweans for fools.
Voters cannot make informed voting decisions based on false election campaign promises. False campaign promises undermine the sacred power of the vote itself. This the power ZANU PF fought for and gave to the people.
The CCC must avoid raising unfulfillable expectations and making unrealistic promises Zimbabweans are wiser than that. Chamisa must stop abusive attacks or innuendos directed to ZANU PF campaigners or their family members for reason of their political affiliation, race, social origins and background, education, gender, religion, or any other reason. He must learn to stand by the truth and grow up. Unrealistic election pledges will leave the Zimbabwe disappointed. CCC will not cheer for long if they win and their plans collide with economic and social reality. Making big election promises is unethical and can be disastrous for politicians. Chamisa seems very oblivious of this. Unscrupulous politicians tell desperate voters what they want to hear, even if such promises cannot be fulfilled, just to get into power.
Zimbabweans must be seriously aware of these clowns chameleons who change their names colours.
We must not allow Chamisa and his CCC to divide us ever again. Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours.
The Gukurahundi era is regrettable and must not be brought up to pollute the pure minds of the new generation. Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours in this whole wide world.

Belgian Club Targets DeMbare Youngster

Dynamos winger Bill Antonio has reportedly been invited for trials at Belgian top-flight club KV Mechelen.

The 19-year-old has been in top form at the Glamour Boys and delivered a man-of-the-match performance on Sunday when his side beat Tenax 3-1.

This is not the first time, the youngster has been invited to Belgium.

He was supposed to go there for trials last year, but the arrangement was canceled to allow him to play more games.

According to The Herald, Antonio is now set to undergo trials at the Antwerp-based club, who have strong ties with Dynamos.

Pat Jefferson, who is understood to be handling the youngster’s affairs told the publication: “Bill was (actually) supposed to have gone (to Belgium) in 2019, then last year.

“(But) we decided to let him have more games (and game-time) and then look at it later (now).”

A visa application, signed by Head of Sports Administration at KV Mechelen, Simas Calcoen, has already been submitted to the Belgian Embassy in Harare.

The trial stint is expected to run from 1 April until the 30th of the month.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

SA Keen To Host CAF Champions League Final

The South African Football Association (SAFA) is bidding to host this year’s CAF Champions League final and also expressed keen interest in hosting the 2024 Africa Women Cup of Nations.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan told the SAFA website that plans are already underway to bring the tournaments home.

The association has also set its sights on hosting this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League finals.

Jordaan said: “We have indicated to CAF that we are quite keen to host the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League on the basis that it would be wonderful for the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, to defend their crown on home soil in South Africa….

“We are following the success of both AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League and of course both of them are doing well.

“This weekend’s [CAF Champions League] group matches with Mamelodi Sundowns against Al Ahly, and with AmaZulu currently in Algeria, will determine their positions and they may also go into the final round.

“So we hope that at least one of the two, but hopefully both of them will make it to the final. It would be just wonderful to host the CAF Champions League final with a South African team or both South African teams in the final. We will be watching and submitting an application for the CAF Champions League final as well.

“That [the CAF Champions League final] will be in May, CAF Women’s Champions League tournament is in November, so there is a good space between the two events.”

He added: “We have indicated to CAF we are keen to host the 2024 Women’s Cup of Nations. We will be discussing this matter with the minister of sport, Minister Nathi Mthethwa, and ask government to give us support to make that bid because it is not a once-off match, it is a tournament.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Expert Speaks On Nakamba Injury

An injury expert has warned of complications that Marvelous Nakamba will face on his return from a long-term injury.

The Zimbabwean midfielder picked a knee injury in Aston Villa’s visit to Liverpool in December, and the knock required surgery.

The diagnosis pointed a medial collateral ligament (MCL) damage.

After almost four months out, Nakamba is already back at training and is expected to be available for selection for the game against Wolves on 2 April.

But according to Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis, the 28-year-old should expect some muscle issues on his return.

“With reinjury in terms of the MCL itself, that isn’t a major concern… ,” Dinnery told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“But having said that, anyone who is returning from a long-term injury is at risk of the odd niggle or muscular problem, a slight tweak or strain.

“That’s an inherent risk because you’ve been out of the firing line for so long.

“When you come back into the Premier League, there is a period of time when you need to acclimatise.”

Before the injury, Nakamba had established himself as the first choice in the Villa’s central midfield. He made five successive starts under Steven Gerrard, who took over the reins in mid-November.

The performances saw the midfielder named Villa’s Player of the Month for November.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Messi Set For Camp Nou Return ?

Lionel Messi’s camp has reportedly been in contact with Barcelona in the last few days to discuss the idea of the superstar’s return to Camp Nou in the coming transfer window.

The Argentine has endured a frustrating spell since leaving the club to join PSG at the start of the season. The situation was further compounded by the French giants’ elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Messi’s father and agent, Jorge, called the Barca board to talk about the possibility of re-signing the star.

The 34-year-old still has two more years on his contract in Paris.

Meanwhile, Messi, along with fellow former Barca colleague Neymar, were booed by his own fans at the Parc des Princes when PSG beat Bordeaux on Sunday

Reacting to the incident coach Mauricio Pochettino said the jeers made him feel sad and it affected the team.

The gaffer said: I’m sad with what I experienced today.

“We were all affected.

“We understand the disappointment and the frustration. We’re all living it together, as a team.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

“Police Treated Me The Same”: Mliswa Compares Self To Chamisa

By A Correspondent- Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa says the harsh treatment that is being done to CCC leader Nelson Chamisa by the police during his rallies is the same treatment that he got when he was campaigning as an Independent MP for Norton.

Mliswa warned that if the ruling parties continues harassing the opposition leader instead of fixing its own house, it might get a rude awakening after CCC wins the by-elections.

Read his full statement below:

It is important that ZANU PF simply show its vibrancy in the youth because that is where the election will be determined. Both CCC and ZANU PF are generally equal in terms of women support. However, in terms of youth support CCC is ahead.

You can see this easily by how CCC controls tertiary institutions and the attendant activism which they have shown through their own initiative. The activism that led to the country’s liberation was cultivated through such institutions and age groups.

Thus ZANU PF should be worried by the political apathy which has been exhibited within its youth ranks. It’s a sign of a deeper rot, lack of actual political spine and conviction about what the party is about.

ZANU PF has to face this fact and not just be emotional, throwing punches at opponents. It needs to strategise & go back to basics and inspire the youths to believe in its ideals.

I have previously said the party needs to look at the last scenario where the President lost in areas won by the MPs. What was the problem? Where were the youth? How have they corrected those anomalies?

Six Army Recruits Die During Training

By A Correspondent- Six army recruits died during an eight-month training regime which started in July last year and ended on Tuesday, the army commander revealed.

Lieutenant General David Sigauke was speaking during a pass-out parade by 2,442 soldiers at the Imbizo Training Depot in Bulawayo.

“The training commenced on July 1, 2021, with a total of 2,501 recruits comprising of 2,242 males and 259 females drawn from all our provinces,” the army chief said.

“Today a total of 2,442 comprising 2,190 males and 252 females are graduating. On a sad note, we lost six recruits who passed on during the time of our training and we say may their souls rest in eternal peace.

A total of 59 recruits failed to make the grade due to various reasons and today they are not in this parade.”

Sigauke said the training “transformed and natured the graduates from a civilian life into distinct and illustrious servicemen and women who should from today onwards commit their life to serve their motherland Zimbabwe.”

He said the army was being called upon to defend the country’s territorial integrity, as he warned of threats posed by the Islamic insurgency in Mozambique to regional peace and stability.

He added: “In pursuit of defending our country, you should always remember that as a professional force there is zero tolerance to indiscipline and unprofessional conduct.”-zimlive

39 000 Succumb To Abortion Annually

Woman Demands Goat From Ra_pist

By A Correspondent- A man from Magadla village in Matobo District, has appeared in court facing rape charges after they gang raped a forty year old woman while on her way to her home after beer drinking with the suspects.

Indications in court are that the woman demanded a goat as payment from the man after she was raped.

David Ndlovu (21) pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Bulawayo Regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.

Prosecutor Naison Chivayo told the court that, sometime in July last year Ndlovu along with his colleagues Musawakhe Mthunzi (21) Lucky Ncube (21) and Ignetious Tshuma were drinking home brewed beer at Japhet Mthunzi’s homestead which is situated in Magadla village.

They drank until late into the night where they were joined by the woman aged (40) who arrived at 9pm and continued to drink beer and the victim and the three men ended up being offered a place to sleep at the homestead and were given blankets to sleep.

It is the state case that the woman was surprised to wake up naked and sensed that she had been abused after discovering that one of the suspects slept next to her naked as well.

It is the state case that one of the suspects implicated the other leading to their arrest after he was beaten to the pulp by the villagers.

It is alleged that the woman demanded payment of a goat for the sexuial abuse.

Barcelona’s Stadium To Be Renamed Spotify Camp Nou

Barcelona’s stadium will be renamed as the Spotify Camp Nou after the La Liga club agreed a multi-year partnership with audio streaming service Spotify.

The agreement, subject to ratification of the club’s Extraordinary Delegate Members Assembly, will begin in July.

The Swedish company’s name will also appear on the front of the men’s and women’s team shirts and training kits.

Barcelona said the stadium’s rights deal would “continue over the ambitious redevelopment of the Camp Nou site”.

The club added the team shirt deal would begin in the 2022-23 season and last “for the next four seasons”.

It will be the first time that the title of Barcelona’s stadium has included the name of a sponsor.

According to Catalan radio station Rac1, the agreement with Spotify is worth 280m euros (£235m).

Barcelona described the deal as a “first of its kind” for the club and said the partnership would seek to bring “the worlds of music and football together”.

Last year, Spotify founder Daniel Ek made a bid to buy Premier League side Arsenal, which was supported by former Gunners legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.

Teachers Dump The Classroom For Red Cross Training

By A Correspondent- Zimbabweans teachers are reportedly undergoing Red Cross training in order to acquire healthcare certificates so that they can leave the country for greener pastures.

This was said by Magwegwe MP Anele Ndebele (MDC Alliance) in Parliament on Tuesday after he had raised a point of national interest. He said:

I express dismay and shock on behalf of teachers in the country for the way we as the State treat our teachers.

We are talking of people who have invested years and hard-earned money to get the best education available and acquire the requisite skills, yet they are denied a living wage.

I will tell you for a fact that our teachers are now going for Red Cross training to acquire healthcare certificates so that they can go overseas.

We must do something as Parliament to curb brain drain as we are losing teachers.

Ndebele also urged the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Public Service to ensure that the Public Service Commission (PSC) and teachers’ unions resolve the salary impasse.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Tsitsi Gezi said the points raised by Ndebele were valid. She said:

I am sure that the Public Service minister has taken note of that.

This comes after the PSC published names of teachers it recruited recently after suspending 1 500 teachers and 50 school heads for defying a directive to report for duty.

The majority of teachers and schools heads failed to report for duty between 7 and 22 February citing financial incapacitation and demanding to be paid their salaries in US dollars.-newsday

Dry Spell Costs Midlands Crop Output

By A Correspondent- Nearly 30 percent of the maize crop across Midlands Province is now a write off with the total provincial yield already compromised due to the prolonged dry spell that has been experienced for over a month now.

In an interview Midlands provincial crop and livestock officer, Mrs Madeline Magwenzi said crops that are in bad state due to the prolonged dry spell across the province include cotton and soya beans.

“For now we have a 30 percent write off in terms of the maize crop situation across the province but if the dry spell continues beyond this week, we will have a 50 percent write off.

We are, however, still okay on crops which were planted early and those which were planted late and overall, we are still hopeful and if we get rains we will salvage something,” she said.

Mrs Magwenzi said the rains received on Monday in some areas across the province were not going to change anything since some crops were reaching permanent wilting stage.

“Some areas on Monday received less than 10mm and that is not enough and now the weather is very hot and all the water is evaporating.

The overnight rain was not enough to resuscitate but can actually destroy more,” she added.

Mrs Magwenzi said small grains were, however, still in good condition with 85 percent still unaffected by the dry spell.

Sunflower and tobacco, she said, were also still in a good state but cotton farmers were the hardest hit.

“The farmers who have been badly affected now are the cotton farmers because the flowers are now falling and there will be little to no yield under such circumstances,” she said.

Mrs Magwenzi said the province expected yield has been greatly affected with hopes however still high that it will manage to salvage something.

“We have not lost hope; we have some crops which are still doing well, especially the small grains.

The total write off is still at 30 percent and we are hopeful,” she said.

On the livestock side, Mrs Magwenzi said the pastures were still in abundance but urged farmers to start making hay.

She said water levels were still low in rivers.

“We still have grass and it is important that farmers should start harvesting hey for their livestock,” she said.-statemedia

Madam Boss’ Hubby In Extra Marital Scandal, Girlfriend Threatens Suicide

Comedienne Madam Boss’ husband, Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa, is in the eye of a storm after a woman he allegedly impregnated threatened to commit suicide.

However, Ngonidzashe denied knowledge of Eva, describing the allegations as one of many stories cooked up to tarnish his image.

Eva said Ngonidzashe had been ignoring her calls and messages since Friday, prompting her to confide in Pastor Jairos Maphosa of the Church of Asaph.

After receiving the photograph, he refused to entertain journalists

He then sent threatening messages to Eva and barred her from talking to the media.

However, Pastor Maphosa realised Ngoni was abusing her and exposed Madam Boss husband.

Mwonzora “Dribbles” Alliance Partner

By A Correspondent- ZANU Ndonga secretary general Farai Mudzingwa was left stranded after MDC-T leader, Douglas Mwonzora reneged on his earlier promise to surrender the party’s share of the political grant he received from the Treasury recently.

Mudzingwa had travelled to Harare from his Chimanimani base to collect the money, only to find himself aground with no accommodation, food and transport fees despite having been assured the money was ready for collection at the party’s Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House headquarters last weekend.

It has since emerged that Mudzingwa later contacted MDC-T national chairman Morgen Komichi, who only sent him ZW$1 500 via ecocash.

However, Komichi has refuted the claims stating that Zanu Ndonga is only trying to create unnecessary drama.

“The truth is that people tend to create drama when it is not even necessary,” Komichi said.

“First, I’m not the party treasurer, financial transactions are done by our treasurer, Tapiwa Mashakada. What you have seen was just a friendly transaction between me and Mudzingwa and was not done on behalf of the party, so it is not true that MDC-T gave him ZW$1 500.”

“The correct position also is that Mudzingwa did not come all the way from Chipinge for the rally. He was already in Harare, and we have been attending meetings together for the past three weeks and he was coming from a local base,” said Komichi.

Komichi also said all the officials who attended the Saturday rally in Harare were well catered for.

“The event was highly organised,” he said.

Zanu-PF and the opposition led by Mwonzora in January received half a billion dollars ahead of the March 26 local council and parliamentary by-elections.

The money was availed by the Treasury through the justice ministry.

Under the Political Parties (Finance) Act, parties with representation in parliament are entitled to funding proportionate to the size of that representation.

Zanu-PF got the bigger share of ZW$350 150 000 translating to 70,3%, while MDC-T pocketed ZW$149 850 000.

The MDC Alliance is a coalition of seven political parties including Zanu Ndonga, as such the members say they were set to benefit but were left in the open after trying to claim their share.

But Zanu Ndonga insisted that Mwonzora played the hard ball on them.

“The MDC-T’s leadership has made countless promises that they would make the payment since last week and till today our interim secretary general is now desperate and homeless in Harare,” the party’s Manicaland provincial youth secretary for information Stanley Mutambwa.

According to Mutambwa, on the March 2 this year, a resolution was made that all MDC Alliance partners would use their allocated grant to mobilise supporters and members for the Alliance National Peace Star Rally that was set for last Sunday at Zimbabwe Grounds.

He said Mashakada was now not answering their calls.

“Our S.G ended up approaching MDC T National Chairman Senator Morgen Komichi who gave him ZW$1500 via ecocash and told him to go back home to Chimanimani,” Mutambwa he wrote in a statement to NewZimbabwe.com.

“What an insult? $1500 is not enough to go to Chimanimani. Zanu-Ndonga is appealing to President Mwonzora to stop playing games with Alliance partners.

Mutambwa also said Mudzingwa was previously also asked to borrow money so that he could attend Mwonzora’s Bulawayo rally and would get a refund, but the promise was not fulfilled.

He said they are now questioning him on his legitimacy.

He also said Zanu Ndonga was weighing its options on whether to remain in the MDC Alliance or align with Mwonzora’s arch-rival Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change outfit.

Top Banker Exposes Alpha International Property Developers

By A Corespondent- A retired top banker has disclosed violation of local government procedures by a leading local property developer, Alpha International Developers, following a dispute over payments.

In letters sent to Alpha seen by NewsDay Business, Austen Ratsauka, who is demanding about $1,8 million for consultancy work done over three months, says he was contracted by the firm to provide professional advice.

However, he discovered that Alpha was collecting money from clients at a housing development scheme in Hatcliffe, Harare, before the city council approved developments.

“(I) prepared and submitted framework proposals to financial institutions in an effort to raise funding for the company’s Beitbridge housing project,” Ratsauka said.

“(I) introduced measures to avoid double-allocation of stands on Alpha projects.

“The situation on the Hatcliffe project in particular posed a challenge as some ‘unallocated-stands beneficiaries’ had moved on to the land, making it difficult to identify genuine owners.

“The consultant was requested to engage the Ministry of Housing and seek assistance to regularise the development.

“This would not be possible because, as the Alpha general manager, (Zivanai) Vhimisai, had advised that, Alpha had not paid for the land yet continued to collect money for the project without meaningful progress on the ground,” said the banker, who is demanding US$4 500 for every month he served.

He said he prepared framework proposals to four financial institutions to raise US$2,4 million, which was earmarked for the firm’s Beitbridge project.

“Despite the absence of a contract of employment, not that I did not try to pursue one with yourselves, I requested that you pay me an executive remuneration for the three months, May to July 2021 that I worked for Alpha International.

“Executives of my level, calibre, experience and track record command a remuneration of at least US$4 500 per month. I am, therefore, requesting that you pay me the sum of US$13 500,” he said.

In an interview with NewsDay Business, Vhimisai acknowledged that Alpha collected funds from clients before local government processes were finalised.

However, he said the problem arose after politicians moved people on to the land before it was developed.

“We acknowledge that we hired him to do some consultancy work, some of which didn’t materialise, and we still owe him some money which we are still processing” Vhimisai said.

“We got the land and it was invaded before we regularised. So we are regularising,” he added.

Gvt Doubles Nurses Confirmation Letters, Certificates Fees

By A Correspondent- The Government has increased application fees for nurses’ confirmation letters and certificates by 100 per cent, from US$150 to US$300.

The new fees were revealed in a letter by Nurses Council of Zimbabwe registrar Mercy Chaka dated 11 March 2022. She wrote:

The Nurses Council of Zimbabwe wishes to advise nurses that the approved fees for application for a certificate of good standing (CGS) and application for the confirmation letters for all the nurses residing in Zimbabwe and outside Zimbabwe is now US$300 and is with effect from January 1, 2022.

Association (ZINA) president Enock Dongo told NewsDay that the new fees were unfair and meant to block nurses from leaving the country for greener pastures. Said Dongo:

This is the most expensive verification.

In some of the countries, it is actually free to get a letter of good standing and now Zimbabwe charges US$300, which is not being given as salaries to the civil servants themselves.

Nurses will need three to four months without eating to raise such an amount.

That is really ridiculous, they are punishing health workers.

Health workers have left the country due to poor working conditions and salaries.

We now have a lot of practitioners who have left the country in search of greener pastures and we have shortages in our hospitals, so it’s a strategy that they have come up with to stop that.

This is totally wrong and unacceptable in a democratic country.

There is no way that you can force workers to work for you.

People have the right to work for the employer of their choice.

A CGS is a confirmation letter issued by a professional body to a sister body as clearance for a health worker.

It is given to a healthcare worker with no pending disciplinary issues regarding patient care and relations with colleagues and it also confirms that the holder is a qualified nurse.

Zimbabwe has been losing qualified and experienced workers in the health sector to other countries, with 2 200 health workers having left the country in 2021.

Mhofu’s Pregnant Side Chick Threatens Suicide

By A Correspondent- Madam Boss’ husband Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa who is popularly known as Ngoni is currently going through a rough patch after the woman whom he is accused of having an affair with and impregnating threatened to commit suicide.

The woman at the centre of the storm is identified as Evangelister Zhou and she is an assistant dentist at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

The matter came to light on Monday when Zhou disclosed her intention to terminate the pregnancy.

It is reported that Zhou posted a video of herself drinking a pesticide while threatening to take her life. She alleged that Mhofu abused her and she was fed up.

Following the incident, it is further alleged that Mhofu sent someone to take her to a doctor.

When H-Metro contacted Mhofu, he denied all the allegations levelled against him. He denied knowing Zhou even if he was shown her picture.

According to Zhou, Mhofu had been ignoring her since Friday leading her to confide in one Pastor Jairos Maphosa of the Church of Asaph.

Pastor Maphosa said Eva is willing to be Mhofu’s second wife but she is afraid of Madam Boss.

Pastor Maphosa said Zhou sent him some messages including videos of her taking a pesticide and threatening to kill herself because of Mhofu.

“She accused Ngoni of forcing her to terminate a pregnancy for the second time and this touched my heart.

This is not the first time Zhou has threatened to take her life. She did the same after she was forced to terminate the first pregnancy.

Hanzi zvikazivikanwa ndinorarama sei naMadam Boss uye iye Ngoni arikuti unozviona chete saka nyarara.”

It is further alleged that Mhofu has sent Zhou messages threatening and barring her from speaking to the publication.

Soda Zhemu Accused Of Firing Parastatal Board To Save Skin Over Corruption Scandal

Former Petrotrade board chair Tinomudaishe Chinyoka claims Energy and Power Development Minister Zhemu Soda, dissolved his board in a bid to block an investigation to establish circumstances under which the parastatal lost about US$120 million in a suspected corruption scandal.

Chinyoka revealed the alleged corruption in an urgent High Court application challenging his suspension.

Energy minister Zhemu Soda dissolved the Chinyoka-chaired board last week pending investigation of “matters of corporate governance,” a year after appointment.

Other members of the suspended board include Gladys Mumhure, Simbarashe Eric Mhuriro, Ferida Matambo, Lilian Timveos, Getrude Marabada, Godfrey Ncube (acting chief executive) and Dakarai Mukuku.

Chinoda cited Soda, Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, Auditor-General Mildred Chiri and PetroTrade  (Pvt) Limited as respondents.

Chiwenga was cited in his capacity as the administrator of the Public Entities and Corporate Governance Act.

Through his lawyers, Gunje Legal Practice, Chinyoka accused Zhemu of attempting to block investigations into allegations of graft by shielding suspects within the company from facing justice.

He claimed in the application that there was a plot to sell PetroTrade for US$20 million under unclear circumstances, a figure he said was “a fraction of its value.”

He said PetroTrade managers authorised construction of a service station at a cost of over US$2 million in Mabvuku without following the procedures.

“In the meantime, the board tried to cause a forensic audit to be done by the third respondent (Chiri) and had written to her to that effect. However, the first respondent‘s permanent secretary (Gloria Magombo), in the presence of the first respondent (Soda) had given the board a dressing down stating that it was not the board’s remit to ask for a forensic audit,” Chinyoka said.

“Instead, the board was meant to inform the first respondent that it wanted a forensic audit and if the first respondent deemed it necessary, would instruct the third respondent. Positively chastised, the board wrote to the permanent secretary asking for a forensic audit to be accrued out and left the matter in her hands, but she did nothing. However, towards the end of the year, it came to the attention of the board that the acting chief executive Godfrey Ncube had been receiving communication from the third respondent about her office’s readiness to carry out the forensic audit, but was not passing it on to the board.”

Chinyoka alleged that the management conducted “fake interviews” to hire employees while also flouting tender regulations by not seeking authorisation from the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe.

According to Chinyoka, the acting CEO allegedly stole 300 000 litres of fuel and inflated payment figures by several millions of dollars, prejudicing the company of US$120 million.

“In light of the discovery that the acting CEO had been keeping such communication from the board, I had become even more suspicious about his honesty and when he informed the board that there were certain payments that were critical and that they be made, I got even more suspicious. These included payment of US$98 million and US$23 million for two projects that were finished and handed over years ago,” Chinyoka said.

“The requested payments were in fact not due: where the A CE (acting CEO) wanted authorisation to pay US$98 million the information on file showed that at most, the amount due was less than US$12 000 and where he wanted US$23 million we had in fact overpaid on the contract.”

Chinyoka accused Soda of authorising the acting CEO to run the company without board oversight to frustrate investigation of the corrupt activities.

“My suspension, in circumstances where I had detailed provable instances of corruption and criminality, coupled with the first respondent directly empowering the acting CEO to run the company without oversights, is irrational and so outrageous in its defiance of logic, good judgment and common sense that no impartial person could have made such a decision,” Chinyoka said.

“The first respondent’s decision is unfair in that it casts aspersions on my character and integrity. The manner in which he has couched his Press statement is calculated to inflict maximum damage.”

The matter was not been set down for a hearing.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that the board’s problems started after it sought to have Ncube, who joined the company as a security officer, probed for alleged corruption.

In a letter dated February 28, directed to the Energy ministry, Chinyoka alleged that Ncube was not fit to be CEO.

“Crucially, this coincided with the process of hiring a substantive CEO, the board had learned that at the time of Mr Sikwila (acting CEO Tanaka)’s dismissal there was no one in the company in a position where they could readily walk into the CEO’s position. This had resulted in them asking the then operations manager who joined the company as a security officer to become the CEO,” Chinyoka wrote.

The suspended PetroTrade board has threatened to engage President Emmerson Mnangagwa to push for the reversal of their suspension.

RG’s Office Opens Express Passport Issuing Office

passport

By A Correspondent- The Registrar General’s Office has opened an Express Passport Issuing Office at its Harare offices which allows individuals to complete an application form and collect their passport within 48 hours.

The applications are done through an online booking system, with the document ready for collection within 48 hours. Terence Mutemerarwa, the manager at Express Passport Office, said:

When the E-passports were launched last year it was made clear that they will be two categories of applications.

The one with a 7 day turn around which we started with and now we have introduced the Express Centre that issues passports in 48 hours from the time of applications.

Applicants use an online booking system to avoid congestion which had characterised these offices.

What it means is that they are now two ways of applying for a passport which is the one which takes 7 days and this one which takes 48 hours.

The Government said people will be able to apply for the e-passport at more locations within Zimbabwe, starting with Chitungwiza and then followed by Bulawayo.

The Government has “already identified 15 embassies where the online services will be deployed”, with South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) among them.-statemedia

Wicknell Chivhayo Warned After Endorsing Deportation Of Passion Java

Controversial prophet Passion Java has warned business mogul Sir Wicknell Chivayo for signing a petition to deport him from the United States.

Earlier this week social media was left abuzz after Zimcelebs took to their Instagram alleging that Sir Wicknel had signed the petition.

Responding, the self-styled prophet and staunch Zanu PF supporter wrote: “But Sir Wickenel ka …”

The self-proclaimed prophet, through his spokesperson Boss Lashan, said there was very little on the case to worry him.

“This is a petty issue that we would not want to dwell on. I would rather not comment about it,” said Boss Lashan, speaking on behalf of Java.

However, statements on social media, which have been widely distributed, appear to suggest Chivayo has distanced himself from the plot.

“The US will never deport a millionaire because random people signed a petition, I am a strong Zanu PF supporter and I side with all ED (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) loyalists,” Chivayo is said to have clarified.

The petition, which was raised by Kurauone, has received mixed reactions on social media.

A political activist, Godfrey Kurauone, set the petition on change.com, triggering people to sign it in favour of Java’s deportation.

The petition has since garnered over 11 000 signatures from the people who are in favour of his deportation.

The petition reads: “Panganai Passion Java, a self-proclaimed prophet, enjoys permanent resident status in the USA while he goes back to Zimbabwe to actively support a regime that is killing citizens, violating fundamental rights and stealing national resources.

He uses state resources to move around the country buying votes for Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“The State Department of the United States has, through its Secretary of State, the power to begin the process of revoking Mr Passion Java’s permanent resident status.

The USA policy is to support freedom, democracy and prosperity for the people of Zimbabwe and to this end has imposed restrictive measures on individuals who aide human rights violations and undermine democracy in Zimbabwe.

Mr Java is one such culprit and should be sanctioned and barred from coming to the USA and his accounts frozen.

Zodwa Wabantu Deletes Social Media Posts Ahead Of Rebirth As Sangoma?

Zodwa Wabantu

Entertainer and reality TV star Zodwa Wabantu has deleted all her posts on the social media platform Instagram. This has led to speculation that the raunchy dancer deleted all her photos in which she is skimpily dressed, ahead of her rebirth as a sangoma.

The deleting of the posts comes barely 24 hours after the “Zodwa Wabantu: Uncensored” star cryptically told her 2.1 million followers that many of them were going to miss her.

She wrote on Instagram,

Hours after this cryptic post, the dancer and businesswoman deleted all her previous posts on Instagram. In some of the posts, Zodwa Wabantu is skimpily dressed or dancing while wearing revealing outfits.

She then posted a single photo which she captioned,

Izulu Nomhlaba and a Man Do Not Attach yourself with Earth Things

When reached for comment on the latest developments, Zodwa reassured her fans and followers that she was okay. She explained that she would be moving to a new dimension, as she had accepted her great grand father’s wish for his spirit to possess her.

Speaking to online publication Daily Sun, Zodwa said,

“I have accepted my great-grandfather who was born in 1822, and I have to build him indumba where I should put him and welcome him because I have woken him up. He also woke himself up to be in me, and I have accepted him. That is the new dimension that I will get into.”

She attributed some of her successes to her mkhulu’s spirit and claimed that she was following in his footsteps. Zodwa said that her ancestral spirit was famous and well-travelled and had opened doors for her.

“Just like me, mkhulu was also famous. The fame that I have is because of him. He has a book that was written by people from London, UK. He has travelled all over the world and the travelling that I have done is because of him. The answer to people who question me on how I go all over the world because I don’t sing or act, is him,” she said.

“The fame that’s never-ending is because of him. No one can take me out. It’s his power,” said Zodwa.

The dancer went on to say that she is not yet sure if she will stay at the place where she will be helping people.

“Zodwa the entertainer is still going to be there. I won’t thwasa, but I see things. I am a prophet. What has happened is that mkhulu wants me to go home and speak to my family. He has given me messages to share with them and he wants my work to start at home. My family has confirmed all the things I’ve told them and have really accepted me and what I have to say.”

“However, at this point, I am not sure if I am supposed to sit at the place where I will build and help people. But I think the time will come, as it is a journey,” she said.

Mwonzora Ally Speaks On Working With Zanu PF

By- MDC Alliance treasurer-general Tapiwa Mashakada says he is worried over the division within opposition ranks as this will split their vote and allow the ruling Zanu PF party to win elections easily.

The MDC Alliance staged a rally at Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfields, Harare on Sunday and attracted a sizeable crowd though some critics claimed that the opposition party paid people from across the country and then bussed them to attend the rally.
Posting on his Facebook account on Sunday Mashakada implicitly implored opposition political parties to unite in order to unseat ZANU PF. He said:
The bumper crowd at the MDC Alliance Star Rally at Zimbabwe grounds is a testimony of hard work and dexterity. Morgan Tsvangirai’s legacy lives on. What lesson should this huge crowd teach us?
For me, it’s a statement that a divided opposition pulling large numbers at their rallies yet divided will split their votes and hand over victory to [ZANU PF]. This really worries me.
The country’s main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa, which was formed early this year, has been attracting huge crowds at its rallies even though it has been frustrated by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on several occasions.
The ZRP has banned CCC rallies in Gokwe, Marondera and Binga in recent weeks while the MDC Alliance has conducted all its rallies unmolested, with some commentators saying it shows that the Douglas Mwonzora-led party’s a ZANU PF “puppet”.

The MDC Alliance has denied allegations that it is serving ZANU PF interests at the expense of citizens who have supported the original MDC since its formation in 1999.

Three Perish In Chivhu Car Crash

By-Three people have died in a car crash along Chivhu-Roy Road.

Damba lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road and overturned several times landing on its right side.

Three people died upon admission at Gutu Hospital while 11 others were injured. Of the 11 four were seriously injured.
The deceased have been identified as Florence Ndlovu, (38), Charles Nyamuba, (26) and Giliston Baloyi. All deceased sustained head and neck injuries.

Two Zimbabwean Arrested For Botswana Robbery

By- Botswana police have arrested four Batswana and two Zimbabweans for allegedly robbing the Southern African Development Community (SADC) of property worth R625 000 in January this year.

According to the Botswana Police Service (BPS), the six were arrested in Gaborone on Friday in connection with a robbery in which 18 laptops, six cellphones and a camera were stolen from SADC offices.

BPS public relations officer Dipheko Motube identified the suspects as Mpho Rasetena, 28, Lesego Masilo, 33, Maitapiso Thuso Kgakgamatso, 34, and Otsile Semandi, 40, from Botswana, and Innocent Bushri Shaggy, 31, and Tongai Tsikirayi, 38, from Zimbabwe. Said Motube:

Four Batswana nationals and two Zimbabwean male citizens appeared before Village Magistrate’s Court in Gaborone today (Monday).

… At the time of arrest, the suspects were found in possession of a firearm suspected to have been used in the commission of the offence, and foreign currencies.

The men will appear in court again on 28 March.

There has been an upsurge in armed robbery cases in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana, with nationals from the three countries implicated in transnational armed robberies.

Last month, in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, the South African Police Service (SAPS) was involved in a shootout with 25 suspected armed robbers believed to have been involved in a spate of cash-in-transit heists.

Eight of the suspects were shot dead and 11 arrested while others escaped.

A fortnight ago, Botswana police killed nine people, including a South African man, in a shootout following a cash-in-transit robbery in the capital Gaborone.

Meanwhile, Norton MP, Temba Mliswa (Independent), has urged the SADC organ on security, to deal with armed robberies, which have become a danger in the region. He said:

We cannot continue to keep quiet about the crime rate in South Africa, where Zimbabweans are being implicated.

The rate has gone up and it doesn’t do us any good with those governments. Regionally, the crime rate involving armed robbers has also increased and now requires a holistic approach.

The SADC organ on security should deal with these armed robbers. Expert teams should be organised to deal with these robbers across borders.

Human Rights Defenders Accuse Magistrate Of Sitting On CCC Members Bail Application

A HARARE magistrate has come under fire for refusing to hear the bail application of Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) activists and failing to ensure the heavily assaulted supporters get immediate medical attention despite evidence of severe injuries inflicted by the police.

Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda failed to hear the bail application of the activists who were arrested for convening a car rally in February ahead of the CCC’s maiden rally. The magistrate claimed the courts had closed at 1pm, but the lawyers frowned upon this as unprofessional conduct from a judicial officer.

Video evidence showed heavily armed police officers assaulting the CCC activists with batons and fists at Harare Central Police Station, where they were later charged with public nuisance. In a letter of complaint dated 22 February over the judicial conduct of the magistrate written by the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum addressed to the provincial magistrate, the organisation rapped the magistrate, saying her actions were not in line with the constitutional obligations of judicial officers.

“We write to express our serious concern over the conduct of the court in the matter of State versus Eliah Mutsindi and 12 others as presided over by Esquire Yeukai Dzuda on Saturday February 19, 2022,” the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum wrote.

The rights group said the lawyers representing the accused arrived at the courts at 10am, but the court did not sit until 12.35pm.

“Our clients only managed to get audience with the court around 13.20pm and our lawyers appeared on their behalf. There was no address on the issue of the delay but rather a sharp reminder that a court closed its business at 1pm,” the letter read in part.

“Our lawyers sought to make submissions on the manner of arrest and detention of the accused persons, which they believe vitiates on section 50 of the constitution. Among such issues were serious and grave assaults on the accused persons to access medical treatment.”

The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum said the court declined to hear any submissions relating to that application and proceeded to remand the accused persons to 22 February. “Our lawyers then besought the court for determination of bail for the accused persons. The state, through the attendant prosecutors, submitted that bail was opposed and that there was no time to hear the reasons. The court took the same position despite the insistent plea by our lawyers to be heard on this issue.”

“Once the court maintained its stance, our lawyers, owing to peculiarity of the circumstances faced by the accused in the matter, besought the court that at the very least, medical practitioners should attend to the accused persons to medically attend to the accused on this application.”

“The court inquired the attribute of the state which indicated that it had no instruction on the point. The court then ruled that the matter will be heard when the state had adequate instructions to respond to the matter,” the letter said in part. It could, however, not be immediately ascertained where the state was set to get instructions from.

“We are aggrieved by the conduct of the Magistrate and more specifically in that: the accused persons were unduly prejudiced by the court sitting late and yet insisting on closing at 1pm and thereby not affording them the right to be heard on decisions affecting them,” the lawyers of the CCC activists said.

The attorneys said they were also aggrieved by the magistrate’s failure to hear a bail application that was supposed to be handled as an urgent matter.

“They could not be heard on the issue of access to a medical practitioner which issue is one of law and has no need of ‘instructions’. Our clients are concerned that this was unmindful of the court to unjustifiably cause continuation of the detention.”

“The court weighed heavily in favour of the state and of its own need to close early whilst sacrificing integral human rights and constitutional values our laws hold as most dear.”

“There was no purpose at all served in having the accused brought to court on Saturday except to tick a box of the 48 hours requirement in the constitution, but missing the spirit of it which is to be heard.”

“We really found the attitude of the courts unnecessarily discourteous: it is our legitimate expectation to see the courts exhibiting propriety that shows such an appreciation of its constitutional mandate. As stakeholders of the justice system, we hope to get the best out of our justice system which primarily is realisation of the promise of justice for all who come looking for it in our courts. It is in this spirit that we raise this complaint with you.”

“Whilst we are mindful of the right of our clients to take such matters to a superior court, we believe that this may largely be an administrative issue regarding Saturday court sittings since we personally are yet to encounter any such challenges within the week.- NewsHawks

Man Killed Over WhatsApp Text From Another Woman

By- A South African woman was arrested on Sunday after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death following the discovery of messages on his cellphone between him and another woman.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane confirmed the murder incident, saying officers received a domestic violence complaint at Lusaka Square in Batho, Bloemfontein, Free State on Sunday.

Covane revealed that the man’s body was found with a stab wound to the neck. He said:

A patrol vehicle was dispatched to [the scene], and on arrival at the address, they met an African female, who led them to the back where the incident occurred.

Inside the backroom, the police found the lifeless body of an African male lying on the floor beside the bed with a stab wound on the left side of his neck.

Covane said a witness who later discovered the 25-year-old man’s lifeless body, said the now-deceased had had an argument with his girlfriend over WhatsApp messages between him and another woman. Said Covane:

The suspect became violent, and the victim [removed her from] the room and locked the door.

The suspect is alleged to have gotten hold of a knife and gained entrance into the room through the back window and attacked the victim.

The witness forced the door open and discovered that the victim was lying motionless on the floor with a stab wound.

The woman was arrested and was expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a murder charge.

Full Text: Police Openly Threaten Opposition

The Zimbabwe Republic Police clarifies and sets the record straight on security arrangements and the holding of political rallies in view of the current campaigns by parties and aspiring candidates for the scheduled Bye-Elections set for March 26, 2022

Firstly, it is the responsibility of a convener to notify the local regulating authority who is the Officer Commanding a Police District, of the intention to hold a rally in line with provisions of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act (MOPA), Chapter 11:23.

It is not just a case of notification, the convener has a responsibility to discuss and agree on the security and safety measures to be availed at the rally for the benefit of the public and the community in general.

sadly, the police has noted with concern that some political parties are adopting a confrontational approach when notifying the regulating authorities on their intended rallies.

We are also concerned that some of the conveners and their legal advisors are resorting to communicating wrong information to their supporters and also using social media to post communication details with the Police without exhausting all the legal remedies provided for under the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act (MOPA), Chapter 11:23.

In the case of Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC)’s Marondera rally, it is clear that the convener had not complied with relevant provisions of MOPA and was duly advised by the regulating authority, however, the convener and their lawyers insisted that the rally will go ahead while at the same time a court process was in motion at the High Court and subsequently at the local Magistrate Court after Justice Mungwari had ruled that the CCC convener had to exhaust all the domestic legal remedies provided under MOPA before holding a rally. This is on record.

However, on the ground, the convener had already mobilized CCC supporters to gather without sanctioning and conclusion of the court proceedings. The Police has a constitutional responsibility to ensure that all the country’s laws are observed and complied with. In this case the rally could not be sanctioned without the due processes being followed.

It is sad that some political parties are resorting to acts which clearly show that they are not observing law and are acting as a law onto themselves.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police will not compromise on security and safety of the public and expect political party conveners to lead by example and avoid misleading the public. In the same vein, Police reiterates that anyone holding or hosting car rallies will be arrested without fear or favour. Recently the Zimbabwe Republic Police arrested 26 suspects in Harare and Masvingo for holding car rallies while in the process they were blocking traffic, interfering with the smooth movement of the traffic and chanting slogans which include obscene language. The Zimbabwe Republic Police will not hesitate to name and shame politicians who are clearly contravening the law. Political parties are warned against disrespecting the Police, acting as if there are no laws to be observed in the country or untouchable institutions and entities.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is ready to ensure that the forthcoming.

Bye-elections are held in a peaceful environment. Therefore any form of lawlessness by individuals, groups or political parties will not be tolerated.

The law will be applied without fear or favour.

USD120mln Looted From Lilian Timveous’ PetroTrade Company Within 1y Of Ditching Chamisa

Lillian Timveos with Blessing Chebundo on the day they defected from MDC Alliance

Suspended PetroTrade board chair Tinomudaishe Chinyoka yesterday alleged massive looting and mismanagement at the State-owned entity which he claimed had prejudiced the company of nearly US$120 million.

Chinyoka mentions the corruption in an urgent High Court application challenging his suspension.

Chinyoka cited Soda, Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, Auditor-General Mildred Chiri and PetroTrade (Pvt) Limited as respondents.

Newsday

ZRP Accuse Mayor Gomba Of Registering 19 People At Own Home

State Media – In what could be a tip of the iceberg, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate in the upcoming March 26 by-elections, Herbert Gomba, has been arrested for fraudulently facilitating registration of people using his parents’ address in contravention of the Electoral Act.

Chief Supt Paul Nyathi

Apart from registering 19 people at his parents’ home in the high-density suburb of Glen Norah, the former Harare mayor, who is dogged by corruption allegations, is also accused of registering as a voter using an address where he does not live.

In addition to the charges of contravening Section 37 of the Electoral Act, Mr Gomba also faces perjury charges for breaching Section 183 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

In an interview, police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said Gomba, whose party had initially claimed that he had been abducted, handed himself over to the police and stands charged on the two counts.

“Mr Gomba was arrested by officers at Harare Central police when he surrendered himself in the company of his lawyer. He is facing perjury charges and contravening the Electoral Act,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.

His lawyer, Mr Harrison Nkomo, confirmed that his client will be appearing in court today but did not give details.

The CCC has a penchant for claiming abductions whenever there is an impending international event, and in this case, it claimed that Gomba had been abducted last Saturday as President Mnangagwa was set to market the country at the Dubai Expo.

However, like the proverbial deck of cards — the opposition party’s wobbly claims fell apart when the former mayor resurfaced unscathed on Monday.

The spin from the Nelson Chamisa-led outfit was that he was found in the custody of his family, but no detail was given on his whereabouts during the weekend when the party claimed that he was missing.

On Saturday, CCC interim spokesperson, Advocate Fadzayi Mahere, the party’s interim deputy chair Mr Job Sikhala and political activist Mr Hopewell Chin’ono posted on their Twitter handles claims that the former mayor had been abducted.

“#ALERT former Harare Mayor Herbert Gomba has gone missing. Unknown men stormed his home in Glen Norah C at around 14.30hrs. They used three unregistered white Isuzu vehicles. His whereabouts are unknown,” Adv Mahere tweeted.

Presently, three CCC activists; namely Joana Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marowa are facing charges of faking abduction. -Herald

Bulawayo Woman Kills Stepson

A Bulawayo woman has been arrested for killing her stepson (3) through suspected food poisoning and physical abuse.

Bulawayo  Provincial Police Spokesperson Abednico  Ncube confirmed the incident.

He identified the woman as Nothando Mpofu (27)  adding that she has since been arrested in connection with the death of the child.

Ncube also identified the deceased child as Musawenkosi Ndlovu.

He said the incident happened recently at around 5pm when the child who had been unwell for sometime started vomiting after consuming some food and milk that the stepmother had given to him.

“Mpofu informed her landlord, neighbour that the child was not well and an ambulance was summoned for the child who was reported dead upon arrival at the hospital,” he said.

Mpofu denied her landlord access to the child as she had beaten him up.

Landlord was then later called during the night by the stepmother when the child’s condition deteriorated as his body had become very cold.

Neighbours made claims that they had always witnessed the abuse of the child several times.

Wife Arrested for Killing Hubby with An Axe

High Court judge Justice Lucy Mungwari has sentenced a Chivhu woman to 14 years in jail for fatally axing her husband in the presence of their daughter, accusing him of infidelity.
The court heard that on September 12, 2020, Chenai Togara axed her husband Benjamin Sambara in full view of their 14-year-old daughter on September 12, 2020 over an extra-marital affair.

Sambara succumbed to the injuries a day later at Chivhu Hospital.

Togara said she was acting in self-defence.

In her defence, Togara said Sambara threatened to axe her before she grabbed the axe and attacked him.

But Mungwari ruled that Togara intentionally murdered her husband.

“The only logical conclusion is that she failed to explain her version of events because she struck the deceased while he had his back to her,” Mungwari said.

“The court concluded that the injury noted on the back part of the deceased’s thigh could only have been inflicted because the deceased had relented in attacking the accused and was either fleeing or walking away with his back to the accused.”

Mungwari said Togara did not show any remorse but focused on exonerating herself.

Mungwari also sentenced a 30-year-old Harare man, McDonald Chiveto to four years in jail for fatally striking his 22-year-old wife with an iron bar.

The incident happened on February 14 last year following a domestic dispute.

But Mungwari ruled that Chiveto negligently caused the death of his wife. -Newsday

Outrage As Confirmation Letters Are Doubled

Government has doubled application fees for nurses’ confirmation letters and certificates from US$150 to US$300 amid speculation that the move is meant to frustrate them from leaving the country for greener pastures.
Zimbabwe Nurses Association (Zina) president Enock Dongo told NewsDay that the fee hike was beyond the reach of most nurses whose salaries are paid in local currency.

In a letter dated March 11, 2022, Nurses Council of Zimbabwe registrar Mercy Chaka said nurses should pay US$300 for the certificate.

“The Nurses Council of Zimbabwe wishes to advise nurses that the approved fees for application for certificate of good standing (CGS) and application for the confirmation letters for all the nurses residing in Zimbabwe and outside Zimbabwe is now US$300 and is with effect from January 1, 2022,” Chaka said.

A CGS is a confirmation letter issued by a professional body to a sister body as clearance for a health worker with no hanging disciplinary issues regarding patient care and relations with colleagues.

It also confirms that the holder has qualified as a nurse after training.

The country has been experiencing brain drain in the health sector, with 2 200 health workers having left the country in 2021.

Dongo said the fees were meant to block health workers from leaving the country.

“This is the most expensive verification.

In some of the countries, it is actually free to get a letter of good standing and now Zimbabwe charges US$300, which is not being given as salaries to the civil servants themselves.

Nurses will need three to four months without eating to raise such an amount.

That is really ridiculous, they are punishing health workers,” Dongo said.

“Health workers have left the country due to poor working conditions and salaries.

We now have a lot of practitioners who have left the country in search of greener pastures and we have shortages in our hospitals, so it’s a strategy that they have come up with to stop that.

This is totally wrong and unacceptable in a democratic country. There is no way that you can force workers to work for you. People have the right to work for the employer of their choice.”

Last year, government set up an inter-ministerial committee to look into the brain drain in the health sector after experiencing a sharp rise in the number of health professionals leaving the country for greener pastures.- Newsday

Man Sentenced To Death For Killing Own Daughter

A MUREWA man has been sentenced to death for strangling his daughter.

Charles Kavhumbura was convicted after a full trial at the High Court.

He was charged with unlawfully, and with an intent to kill, strangling the deceased, Lydia Kavhumbura.

He hid her body in a pond.

Charles had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The deceased’s body was later discovered by a student, Joseph Mutisi, who wanted to draw water from the pond.

The State had it that on October 14, 2017, Lydia and her brother visited their father at his grinding mill at Susman Farm, Juru, Murewa.

The two were reportedly sent by their mother (Charles’ ex-wife) Pedzisai Kachepa, to get money for their upkeep.

Charles strangled his daughter until she became unconscious.

He later dumped the body about 750 metres away from the grinding mill.

Justice Tawanda Chitapi ruled that Charles had selfishly murdered his child.

“He knew right from wrong. In fact, his motive to kill the deceased was to save himself from the obligation to outlay more money as maintenance.

“He decimated part of his family by selfishly murdering the deceased for no just cause.

“He remained unrepentant and thus remorseless by not even owning up to his misdeed, electing to deny his culpability, in the light of overwhelming evidence,” ruled the judge.

Justice Chitapi also noted that the circumstances of the murder had sent shock waves in the community.

“The circumstances of the murder must have left Charles’ family traumatised and the community he lived in dumbfounded.

“To devour one’s own child, in order to avert a lawful obligation to pay maintenance as ordered by the courts, cannot be countenanced in an informed society governed through the rule of law.

“The accused is sentenced to death.

“He shall be returned to custody and the sentence of death shall be executed according to law,” reads the ruling.- H-Metro

New Information About Abortion
