Video : Is Wicknell Chivayo Eclipsing Own Master Emmerson Mnangagwa?

By A Correspondent

In the intricate landscape of Zimbabwean politics, the dynamics of power and influence often play out in unexpected ways.

Recently, a video clip captured at Joshua Nkomo Airport has sparked speculation about the shifting spotlight between controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The footage, disseminated by Varakashi, a Zanu PF propaganda team, depicts Chivayo commanding the attention of a crowd, raising questions about his growing prominence within the political arena.

As a well-known figure with ties to the ruling party, Chivayo’s public presence has become increasingly conspicuous, leading some to ponder whether he is eclipsing the visibility of President Mnangagwa.

Chivayo’s flamboyant persona and penchant for controversy have undoubtedly made him a polarizing figure in Zimbabwean society.

His high-profile legal battles and ostentatious displays of wealth have frequently captured headlines, drawing both fascination and ire from the public.

On the other hand, President Mnangagwa, who assumed office in 2017, has been tasked with steering Zimbabwe through a tumultuous period of economic reform and political transition.

While his administration has made strides in certain areas, challenges persist, including widespread poverty, corruption, and human rights concerns.

Against this backdrop, the emergence of Chivayo as a focal point of public attention raises questions about its implications for Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Some observers argue that Chivayo’s growing visibility may detract from the president’s efforts to maintain control and promote his agenda.

However, others contend that Chivayo’s influence may be more superficial than substantive, merely serving as a distraction from the broader issues facing Zimbabwe.

While his antics may attract temporary interest, they argue, the enduring challenges of governance and development require sustained attention and action from political leaders.

Moreover, the relationship between Chivayo and Mnangagwa remains complex and multifaceted. As a purported affiliate of Zanu PF, Chivayo’s actions and statements may reflect broader dynamics within the ruling party, potentially influencing perceptions of the president and his administration.

Ultimately, the significance of Chivayo’s role in Zimbabwean politics may hinge on the extent to which he is able to translate his visibility into tangible political influence or outcomes.

While his ability to capture attention is undeniable, the enduring impact of his actions on the country’s trajectory remains uncertain.

As Zimbabwe continues to navigate the complexities of its political landscape, the interplay between figures like Chivayo and Mnangagwa serves as a reminder of the dynamic nature of power and influence.

Whether Chivayo’s rise signals a fundamental shift in the political landscape or merely a passing spectacle, only time will tell.

In the meantime, Zimbabweans remain vigilant, watching closely as events unfold and shaping the course of their nation’s future.

Manica Diamonds U19 0-1 FC Wangu Mazodze

FC Wangu Mazodze yesterday dismissed Manica Diamonds U19 at Showgrounds Stadium in Mutare to maintain their grip at the top of Eastern Region Division 1 League.

Zhalala Zhululu scored the only goal of the match on the 15th minute through a beautiful header from Ngoyi Gloire off a lofted pass from the impressive Tinaye Tsimba.

The match started on a high tempo with the home side backed by a good crowd at the stadium but Zhalala Zhululu Boys showed their mettle with a strong defensive display.

FC Wangu Mazodze’s defensive pair of Guidance Charinda and Zivanai Chikwenhere was simply at their best keeping Manica Diamonds attackers at bay. So far the Masvingo based team is yet to concede a goal after three rounds of matches.

It remained a cagey affair in most parts of the game with both teams having their chances especially in the second half. In the 53 minute, Prosper Andrea who was impressive the whole afternoon saw his effort from outside the penalty box hitting side net. Two minutes later FC Wangu Mazodze were awarded a free kick in a promising position but Nicholas Muchadei blasted it against the Manica Diamonds wall.

In the 75 minute, Andrea would have scored a second for the visitors but his thunder bolt went through the outside of the post.

FC Wangu Mazodze coach, John Nyikadzino expressed satisfaction with his boys’ display on a difficult wet pitch as they managed to secure all the points.

“We are happy to collect all the three points away from home especially given that we were playing in a very difficult pitch. We shift our focus to the next game.”, he said.

Wicknell Publicly Anoints Self King To Ruto, Mnangagwa Despite Conviction for Serious Money Laundering

The Audacity of Illusion: Wicknell Chivayo’s Grandiose Proclamation and its Impact on Presidential Integrity

By Lesley Dube | In a moment captured between the flashes of cameras and the subtle nods of diplomacy, Wicknell Chivayo, a convicted money launderer, stood shoulder to shoulder with the Presidents of Zimbabwe and Kenya. His proclamation that “Royal blood flows through my vein” resonated with a boldness rarely witnessed in public figures of his legal notoriety. This statement, steeped in self-aggrandizement, was not only unprecedented among African business figures but also loaded with implications that ripple through the corridors of power.

Wicknell Chivayo with President William Ruto

Wicknell Chivayo, a figure whose past is marred by a stint in prison from 2005 to 2008 for money laundering, has since enjoyed what can only be described as an unusually permissive existence. Despite his criminal record, Chivayo has been allowed to handle millions of dollars under dubious circumstances, often operating with what appears to be complete immunity from the usual scruples of law enforcement.

The image of Chivayo flanked by two of Africa’s presidents, not as a reformed man but as a brash businessman boasting of royal lineage, sends shockwaves through the foundational integrity of the presidency. His statement could be dismissed as mere hyperbole, yet the setting and his history lend it a gravity that cannot be ignored. This moment highlights a concerning symbiosis between political powers and wealthy individuals with questionable backgrounds.

The dangers of such associations are multifaceted. Firstly, it poses a direct challenge to the integrity of the presidential office. By aligning themselves with individuals like Chivayo, presidents risk the perception that political office can be swayed or tainted by the influence of private wealth, especially wealth acquired through illicit means. This perception erodes public trust in political institutions, which is crucial for the stability and democratic health of any nation.

Secondly, Chivayo’s statement and his prominence in such high-profile settings could potentially normalize relationships between politicians and other wealthy individuals with similar shady pasts. This normalization risks creating an environment where money laundering and other forms of financial malfeasance are tacitly accepted or outright ignored, provided the perpetrators can claim some form of utility or connection to the state.

Moreover, Chivayo’s unabashed proclamation of “royal blood” suggests a self-view elevated above the common citizenry, hinting at a perceived entitlement to special treatment. This is particularly inflammatory in countries like Zimbabwe and Kenya, where many citizens grapple with economic hardship and corruption. It is a stark reminder of the inequality that exists between the elite and those they govern.

In conclusion, the incident involving Chivayo and his grandiose declaration in the presence of two African presidents is not merely a personal faux pas but a significant commentary on the state of political and ethical standards within the region. It underscores the need for a rigorous reassessment of the relationships between political leaders and business figures, especially those with criminal pasts. The integrity of political office must be upheld by maintaining a clear boundary between leadership and illicit wealth. Only then can trust in these institutions begin to be restored, ensuring that the governance is carried out in the best interest of all its citizens, not just those claiming royal lineage.

In the face of boastful proclamations like those of Wicknell Chivayo and the potential risks such associations carry for political and financial integrity, several areas of Kenyan law may warrant closer examination and possible reinforcement:

1. **Anti-Corruption Legislation**: Kenya’s anti-corruption laws, particularly those under the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), need thorough review to ensure they are equipped to tackle not only direct acts of corruption but also the subtler forms of influence that wealthy individuals with criminal backgrounds might exert. Strengthening these laws could include harsher penalties for public officials who engage in or facilitate corruption.

2. **Campaign Finance Laws**: Laws governing the financing of political campaigns should be scrutinized to prevent individuals with dubious wealth from influencing political outcomes. This includes setting clear limitations on contributions, requiring full transparency of contributions, and enforcing strict penalties for non-compliance.

3. **Money Laundering Regulations**: The Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act needs constant updating to keep pace with evolving methods of money laundering and financial crimes. Enhancements might involve stricter monitoring and reporting requirements for financial and non-financial businesses, as well as increased resources for enforcement agencies.

4. **Public Officer Ethics Act**: This act sets the standards for the behavior of public officers. It may need amendments to include more stringent requirements for transparency, regular declarations of assets by public officials, and explicit prohibitions against associating with known criminals.

5. **Financial Reporting**: The requirements for financial reporting by companies, especially those engaged in public contracts, should be tightened. Regular audits should be mandatory, and there should be clear consequences for entities that fail to comply with financial transparency standards.

6. **Whistleblower Protections**: Enhancing protections for whistleblowers could encourage more individuals to come forward with information about corrupt practices involving high-level individuals and politicians. This includes ensuring their anonymity, protection from retaliation, and possible rewards for valuable information.

By probing and potentially strengthening these areas of law, Kenya can better safeguard the integrity of its political and financial systems, ensuring that the influences that lead to boastful declarations such as Chivayo’s are kept in check. Such measures are crucial for maintaining public trust and ensuring that political offices are not unduly influenced by individuals with potentially nefarious sources of wealth.

ZIMBABWE:

1. **Anti-Corruption and Anti-Bribery Laws**: Zimbabwe’s fight against corruption can be fortified through the Anti-Corruption Commission, which needs robust backing to tackle corruption effectively. This includes enforcing laws that prevent government officials from engaging with known criminals or benefiting from illicit dealings.

2. **Public Officers Integrity Act**: This act, if not already in place, should be introduced or reinforced. It would mandate that public officials maintain a high standard of moral and ethical conduct, which includes avoiding any relationships that could impair their judgment or lead to conflicts of interest.

3. **Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act**: Strengthening this legislation would help prevent money laundering activities by enhancing the monitoring of financial transactions, especially those involving large amounts of money and public contracts. This would also involve stricter penalties for violations.

4. **Political Parties Finance Act**: This law should be enforced rigorously to regulate the funding of political parties and prevent political figures from being influenced by businessmen with dubious financial backgrounds. It requires full transparency in the financial dealings of political parties and their associations.

5. **Corporate Governance Codes**: Reinforcement of corporate governance standards is crucial. This involves ensuring that businesses, especially those engaged in public contracts, adhere to strict ethical guidelines and transparent financial reporting practices.

6. **Whistleblower Protection Laws**: Strengthening protections for whistleblowers in both the public and private sectors can encourage more individuals to come forward with information regarding unethical practices among high-ranking officials and influential businessmen.

7. **Electoral Laws**: Ensuring that electoral laws strictly prohibit candidates and parties from using funds obtained through illicit means can help maintain the integrity of electoral processes. This includes stringent vetting processes for candidates’ sources of campaign funds.

By invoking and possibly enhancing these laws, Zimbabwe can take significant steps toward maintaining the integrity of its governmental institutions and ensure that public officials are held to the highest standards of accountability and transparency. This is critical for building public trust and fostering a governance environment that resists corruption and undue influence.

Police Warned Against Futile Efforts To Arrest Money-Changers

By Mlondolozi Ndhlovu| Already the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested scores of illegal forex moneychangers, who were operating in Harare and Bulawayo as well as other parts of the country.

It has been weeks since Zimbabwe introduced a new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) and the notes have not been released as of yet. It is only available for online transactions.

This on its own has sparked panic among citizens.

Already the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested scores of illegal forex moneychangers, who were operating in Harare and Bulawayo as well as other parts of the country.

They were converting ZiG into US dollars at a higher rate than that proposed by the government.

They were arrested in terms of the Exchange Control Act, which prohibits illegal monetary dealings.

Under the country’s laws unlicensed foreign currency traders face up to 10 years in jail if convicted and they risk the loss of their money and assets.

The emergence of illegal forex traders as already witnessed with the RTGS dispensation leads to inflation as well as loss of value of the local currency.

It leads to Zimbabweans undermining the currency as well as loss of confidence in the local unit.

UZ situation, a mere tip of the iceberg
Before the ZiG was even introduced, citizens already had doubts about the currency.

The government itself did not take any steps to ensure that people will have confidence that the new currency will be stable and strong.

Upon its introduction, the illegal forex traders were already filling the streets leading to their arrests.

Some businesses had their bank accounts frozen for refusing to trade in ZiG.

These businesses were exclusively trading in US dollars.

The central bank’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) blocked their accounts for exchange control violations.

The root of these hurdles in the implementation of the new currency is lack of confidence in the currency and the failure of government to instil and build confidence in it.

There is trust deficit between the citizens and the government that has had tangible repercussions for policy making and implementation.

The introduction of the currency was devoid of public consultations.

Confidence in the new currency and trust in its management is central to its success.

The government ought to address the trust issues and restore public confidence in the currency and show its ability to manage the economy.

However, just as Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor John Mushayavanhu pointed out, confidence cannot be legislated and it has to be earned by the central bank.

This is indeed true as the government cannot rely solely on legislative measures to build public confidence.

Public confidence can be earned through consistent action and transparency.

If anything these legislative measures instil fear in the public as people will be wary of being arrested, but it will not give them faith and confidence in the new currency.

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube highlighted that the government wants the public to have confidence in the new system and that confidence can be built through communication.

Arresting illegal forex traders and freezing accounts of companies will not boost public confidence. It will instil panic.

The law cannot build confidence among citizens.

Confidence in a currency is instilled by making it strong enough to buy anything on the market, yet there are service providers that do not accept ZiG for example fuelstations.

Fuel prices are pegged strictly in US dollars.

All government services should be paid for in ZiG and all domestic payments should be in ZiG.

As long as the government continues to reject the ZiG for goods and services that it offers, the demand for US dollars will remain high, so will the number of illegal forex dealers on the streets.

The government can put in place confidence building measures that make the ZiG the main currency.

Duties are charged in foreign currency, but charging them in local currency will help boost the confidence instead of using state resources to chase around money changers.

This is not to say illegal money changers should be allowed to prowl the streets, but the government can do better in order to instil confidence in the currency.

Making the ZiG the prime and sole currency for all services will be like killing two birds with one stone.

It will build confidence as well as chase the money changers off the streets without having to harass them.

If the government does not put up measures or changes, which ensure that citizens or businesses will not require the services of money changers they will continue to fill the streets.

No amount or level of legislation will build or attract trust in the new currency.

No threats or force will instill confidence in the ZiG.

Just like trust, confidence cannot be demanded it has to be earned as already pointed out.

Earning it means putting in some work and efforts to ensure that there is complete confidence in the works of the government and management of the currency.

Government officials are paid in US dollars yet they expect ordinary citizens to be paid in local currency.

It is like the government itself does not have confidence in its works.

They want the public to accept the ZiG yet themselves are earning in foreign currency.

There has to be a demand for all government officials to be paid in ZiG.

This will enhance stability and build confidence in the new currency.

No citizen will have confidence in the ZiG if there is no shift in policy towards allowances for all elected government officials to be paid in local currency.

Zimbabwe has become over reliant on US dollars, which instead of taking the country forward has kept it in a retrogressive mode because it has neglected the needs or to serve the needs of the majority as it has mainly focused on the needs of the few political elites.

It is time the financial system in Zimbabwe is linked to an economic development plan and not the pockets of the bank owner.

Once the presidium of this land and the legislature change their attitudes towards the use of local currency it will ignite confidence, which will ensure stability.

As Mushayavanhu stated, the government has to walk the talk on protecting the new currency.

Everyone has an equal role to play in ensuring a stable building of confidence.

The rise and fall of the ZiG does not depend on money changers only and businesses, it depends on the attitude towards the currency starting from the executive, judiciary, and legislature down to the common man on the streets.

Legislation cannot build confidence in the currency. The government itself has to have confidence in the currency first in order to build confidence among citizens.

Former Buccaneers Coach For Warriors Job?

The ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) has approached Serbian gaffer Kostadin Papić to potentially take over as the next Warriors coach.

The country’s biggest coaching job has been vacant since Portuguese mentor Baltemar Britt’s short-term contract was not renewed at the end of last year.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza was appointed on an interim basis to specifically oversee the recently-held four-nations tournament in Malawi.

The NC therefore has to appoint a coach for the Warriors, in time for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers slated for June.

While the Lincoln Mutasa-led administration has remained tight-lipped on their plans as far as the appointment of the next Warriors coach is concerned, a well-placed source privy to ongoings at ZIFA, told Soccer24 that Papić has been approached.

“The Normalisation Committee approached Kostadin Papić’s handlers on April 15, before talking to the coach himself the following day,” said the source.

“I’m not so sure about the details of the discussion but it appears as though they (the NC) just told the coach they would get back to him,” added the source.

Papić (63), has been in charge of numerous clubs across the African continent, in a glittering career spanning over two decades.

The Serb managed South African Premiership sides; Orlando Pirates between 2004 and 2006, Maritzburg United (2006-2007), before a short spell at Kaizer Chiefs in 2007.

He then managed Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak between 2008 and 2009, before moving to Tanzania, where he was in the Young Africans dugout for between 2010 and 2012.

Papić then returned to South Africa in 2014, where he briefly took charge of Black Leopards and Chippa United, before moving to Polokwane City.

The veteran coach returned to Black Leopards in 2015 and was in charge of Lidoda Duvha for a year, before moving to South African second tier side Royal Eagles in 2017.

He then moved to Ethiopia the following year, where he took charge of Ethiopian Coffee before returning to South African for a second stint with Royal Eagles.

Papić’s last coaching job was with Black Leopards in 2021.

He is said to have previously applied for the Warriors job when it was first advertised by the NC.

Mnangagwa’s Diplomatic Gambit

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s diplomatic maneuvering took an intriguing turn as he introduced controversial businessman and Zanu PF affiliate Wicknell Chivayo to visiting Kenyan President William Ruto during bilateral talks at Bulawayo Statehouse.

The unexpected introduction of Chivayo to President Ruto adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing discussions between Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and entanglement in legal controversies, has raised eyebrows both domestically and internationally.

His presence alongside President Mnangagwa in a diplomatic setting underscores the intricate interplay between politics, business, and influence in Zimbabwean society.

Chivayo’s purported affiliation with Zanu PF has fueled speculation about his rising stature within the political establishment. His ability to garner attention and proximity to key figures like Mnangagwa suggests a degree of influence that extends beyond the realm of business.

However, the extent of his power remains a subject of debate among observers.

The introduction of Chivayo to President Ruto raises questions about the message Mnangagwa seeks to convey. Is it a signal of support for Chivayo, or perhaps a strategic move to leverage his connections for diplomatic ends?

Alternatively, it could be interpreted as a display of confidence in Zimbabwe’s business community and a gesture of inclusivity towards local entrepreneurs.

While Chivayo’s prominence may be undeniable, his controversial reputation also casts a shadow over his public image.

Legal troubles and allegations of corruption have dogged him for years, drawing scrutiny from both domestic and international observers.

His association with Zanu PF adds another layer of complexity, raising concerns about the nexus between business and politics in Zimbabwe.

In the broader context of Zimbabwean politics, Chivayo’s rise to prominence reflects the evolving landscape of power and influence.

As traditional power structures undergo transformation, figures like Chivayo navigate a terrain shaped by shifting alliances and competing interests.

Ruto Cries For Removal Of Sanctions

By A Correspondent

Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto has made a bold statement denouncing the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, signaling a gesture of solidarity and goodwill towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

Ruto’s stance, articulated during his visit to Zimbabwe for trade talks and the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2024, underscores the importance of fostering stronger diplomatic ties between the two nations.

In a clear display of support for Zimbabwe, Ruto asserted, “The sanctions on Zimbabwe are illegal and unnecessary.”

His unequivocal condemnation of the punitive measures imposed on the Southern African nation echoes sentiments shared by many within the region who view the sanctions as a hindrance to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.

Ruto’s visit to Zimbabwe not only emphasizes the significance of bilateral trade relations but also serves as a platform for diplomatic engagement and collaboration.

His presence at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair reflects Kenya’s commitment to exploring opportunities for economic cooperation and investment in Zimbabwe’s burgeoning market.

During his visit, Ruto reiterated the importance of fostering stronger ties between Kenya and Zimbabwe, stating, “We are committed to deepening our cooperation with Zimbabwe in various sectors, including trade, investment, and infrastructure development.”

His words signal a desire to expand the scope of engagement between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced economic cooperation and mutual benefit.

Ruto’s denunciation of sanctions aligns with President Mnangagwa’s longstanding stance on the issue, further solidifying the rapport between the two leaders.

By speaking out against the sanctions, Ruto not only demonstrates solidarity with Zimbabwe but also reaffirms Kenya’s commitment to upholding the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

The timing of Ruto’s statement, coinciding with his visit to Zimbabwe, underscores the diplomatic significance of his remarks.

As the international community grapples with questions surrounding sanctions and their efficacy, Ruto’s stance adds another dimension to the discourse, highlighting the complexities of global politics and the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving contentious issues.

As Ruto engages in trade talks and diplomatic engagements in Zimbabwe, his denunciation of sanctions serves as a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Zimbabwe.

Madzibaba veShanduko Assaulted By ZANU Thugs While Protecting Hon Cheza

Chamisa Supporter Madzibaba VeShanduko Assaulted While Defending Colleague

By Dorrothy Moyo | In an incident of political violence, Madzibaba VeShanduko, a fervent supporter of opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, was assaulted today while trying to protect a fellow supporter during a public gathering. The supporter, known by his religious moniker but whose real name is Godfrey Karembera, reported the incident from Mabvuku Police Station where he sought refuge and filed a complaint.

The altercation occurred when Mai Cheza, another prominent supporter of Chamisa, was reportedly slapped by unidentified assailants during a heated exchange. Karembera, in an attempt to shield Mai Cheza, found himself the target of a sudden and brutal attack. “When they slapped the honourable on her cheek and I had gone to protect her, that is when they all descended on me,” Karembera recounted the harrowing moments to the media.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described a chaotic situation with several individuals attacking Karembera, who is well-known in the community for his peaceful activism and distinctive red robe. The police have begun an investigation into the incident, and officers at Mabvuku station confirmed that several statements have been taken and a search for the assailants is underway.

The assault on Karembera highlights the increasing tension and violence seen in political gatherings in recent times. This event raises serious concerns about safety during political engagements and the apparent targeting of opposition figures and their supporters.

Human rights organizations and political analysts are calling for calm and a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. “Such acts of violence threaten the democratic process and must be addressed promptly to prevent further escalation,” said a local human rights advocate.

As the situation develops, the community and supporters of Chamisa are rallying on social media and in various forums, condemning the attack and calling for peace and respect for democratic rights. The police have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice and have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Madzibaba VeShanduko is currently receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the assault. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum, emphasizing the need for tolerance and peace in the lead-up to more heated political engagements expected in the coming months.

Biden Exposes Mnangagwa’s Heinous Crimes

By Political Reporter- The Joe Biden administration has accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Government of lacking the political will to “identify, investigate, or prosecute officials who may have committed human rights abuses”.

In its Zimbabwe 2023 Human Rights Report, the United States Government said significant human rights cases which include credible reports of arbitrary or unlawful killings, extrajudicial killings, cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government and harsh and life-threatening prison conditions, have not been addressed. Reads the report:

The government did not take credible steps to identify, investigate, or prosecute officials who may have committed human rights abuses.

There were credible reports of human rights abuses by criminal gangs in the artisanal and small-scale mining sector. Authorities did not systematically investigate or prosecute such abuses.

There were several reports that the government or its agents committed arbitrary or unlawful killings, including extrajudicial killings, during the year.

On September 15, Persuade Mandara was reportedly killed in Mashonaland Central province by [the] Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

According to the Human Rights NGO Forum, officers investigating his connection with a grain theft case broke into Mandara’s home, assaulted him with burning logs that were being used for cooking, and fired gunshots.

The United States also alleged that throughout 2023, security forces used excessive force to apprehend, detain and interrogate criminal suspects. It said:

Police and military officers used excessive force and violent means to disperse peaceful demonstrations and to disrupt informal trading. Security forces often acted in the interest of the ruling party.

On January 14, members of the ZRP assaulted Kudzai Kadzere, a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), in Budiriro while he was responding to a call for legal assistance by a group of opposition supporters.

ZLHR stated police officers used truncheons and fists to assault Kadzere, leading to injuries including a fractured hand.

The report also said prison conditions in Zimbabwe were harsh and life-threatening due to overcrowding, food shortages, and lack of water.

It stated that Zimbabwe’s jails are infested with lice, there is a shortage of blankets in the cold season, and prisoners lack of access to personal hygiene products, as well as inadequate sanitary conditions and medical care. Reads the report:

The Constitution and law prohibited arbitrary arrest and detention, although other sections of the law effectively weakened these prohibitions. The government’s enforcement of security laws often conflicted with the constitution.

Security forces arbitrarily arrested and detained persons, particularly political and civil society activists, labour leaders, street vendors and journalists perceived as opposing the government.

The government regularly used arbitrary arrest and detention as tools of intimidation and harassment, especially against opposition party members, political activists, civil society members, journalists, attorneys and ordinary citizens asserting their rights.

The United States also alleged that the Zimbabwean Government has continued to violate the property rights of citizens. It said:

The Constitution protected property rights, but the government frequently violated this right. On January 7, media reported two ruling party Zimbabwe African National Union-Popular Front (Zanu-PF) activists seized a sugar plantation belonging to a white commercial farmer in Mwenezi, Masvingo province, leaving the owners and scores of workers and their children homeless.

Speaking to NewsDay, ZANU PF information director Farai Marapira demanded the US to provide evidence substantiating its allegations. He said:

Accusations and observations unsubstantiated by verified facts serve to expose the speaker not the spoken of. The US must lose agendarism [sic] and vindictive engagement with governments that refuse to cower before it.

We are undeterred in our mission to serve our people and the President’s doors remain open to genuine impartial overtures for engagement. In the absence of that, as ZANU PF we march unfazed, unbothered and more resolutely.

In March this year, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated 11 Zimbabwean individuals including President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who became the first sitting head of State to be designated by the US under its Global Magnitsky Programme early this year. They were designated for their alleged involvement in corruption and serious human rights abuse.

Masvingo Bus Accident: 16 Killed

By Farai D Hove | Police report the aftermath of a road accident on the 26th of April along the Harare-Masvingo Road that has now claimed 16 lives.

“We are dealing with a terrible tragedy,” stated Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

“Our officers responded to a collision at the 52-kilometer peg on the Harare-Masvingo Road that involved multiple vehicles, including a haulage truck and a passenger bus carrying church members,” he continued.

The fatal accident involved a haulage truck striking a VW Polo from behind and then colliding head-on with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus, which was transporting 44 members of the Angels Family Apostolic Church to the Makumumavi Shrine. “It’s a devastating blow to the community,” Nyathi expressed.

A poignant detail in the wake of the disaster is the identification of victims, with the police releasing the names of eleven of the sixteen deceased. The list includes young children and adults alike, such as Kelly Kwenda, a three-year-old girl, and Decision Maizivei, a 26-year-old man, painting a stark picture of the loss.

“In the wake of this incident, our message to the public is clear: abide by the road rules and regulations. Your safety and the safety of others depend on it,” Nyathi urged, highlighting the importance of road safety.

Investigations are ongoing, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police has vowed to provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, the Assistant Commissioner has extended condolences to the families and implored motorists to exercise caution and respect for traffic laws to prevent future tragedies.

Zim Man Trades UK Job For Goats

By Staff Reporter- A Zimbabwean man has left his job in the United Kingdom, returned home, and started goat farming.

The state media reports that Peter Mukombe, now a goat farmer, is exhibiting his Boer goats at the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

The report said he abandoned his nursing job in the United Kingdom to return home and venture into goat farming.

Mukombe (45), said he spent more than ten years in the United Kingdom working as a Psychiatric nurse.

He said his love for livestock drove him to abandon his job 13 years ago to venture into goat farming in Umguza District where he is now an owner of 106 Boer goats.

Mukombe said he left for the United Kingdom as a 19-year-old and stayed there for 15 years. He said:

I went to the United Kingdom when I was still a teenager but I have so much love for animals that 13 years ago I decided to come back home where I ventured into goat farming, starting with the easy-to-look-after Matabele goat.

Mukombe said when his herd slightly grew, he sold the goats to raise capital and ventured into Boer goat farming which he is now breeding. He said:

Goats like any animal need care and they too will take care of you. I have no regrets whatsoever for coming back home and getting into this business, which has a ready market.

In fact, we are failing to meet the demands of the market and that shows you that there is a huge potential for further growth.

Mukombe said his goats are sold at a minimum of US$300 each.

Goat farming has become increasingly popular for commercial purposes in Zimbabwe due to a rise in the demand for goat meat as consumers seek alternatives to chicken, beef, and pork.

Boer goats are known for their fast growth rate and high-quality meat, and they are easy to keep and have relatively low feed costs.

NC Pushes For Appointment Of High Profile Warriors Coach

The ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) has approached Serbian gaffer Kostadin Papić to potentially take over as the next Warriors coach,” Soccer24 has established.

World Environment Day : Time To Fight For Healthier Planet

Statement by Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates on World Environment Day…

As World Environment Day approaches on June 5, Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty Ltd is gearing up for a significant initiative in Komatipoort, South Africa, to mark this global occasion.

This year, we are focusing our efforts on the vital task of tree planting to restore and preserve our natural environment.

Our primary goal is to plant trees in Komatipoort, South Africa and inspire surrounding communities to join us in this important endeavor.

Trees play a crucial role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, providing oxygen, and enhancing biodiversity.

By encouraging tree planting, we aim to foster a healthier and more sustainable environment for all.

In addition to our tree planting initiative, we are also addressing another pressing environmental issue: illegal waste dumping.

The unfortunate consequences of such actions include floods caused by clogged bridges and stormwater systems.

To combat this problem, we advocate for the transformation of illegal dump sites into green spaces by planting trees and restoring the natural ecosystem.

To achieve these ambitious goals, we are seeking partners and sponsors to invest in this initiative.

Interested parties can reach out to us to discuss how they can contribute resources—whether through financial support, tree donations, or other means—to make World Environment Day a resounding success.

President Ruto’s Zim Visit Marred by Photo with Convicted Money Launderer, Wicknell Chivayo

By Luke S Banda | Legal Correspondent | ZimEye | In a controversial turn of events during Kenyan President William Ruto’s recent visit to Zimbabwe, a photograph capturing him alongside Zimbabwe’s notorious money launderer, Wicknell Chivayo, has sparked widespread criticism and raised questions about the implications of such associations for political and business relations in the region.

President Ruto’s visit, intended to strengthen diplomatic and trade ties, was overshadowed by the presence of Chivayo, who has a well-documented history of legal troubles, including a conviction and a three-year sentence in Chikurubi Maximum Prison for money laundering activities.

Wicknell Chivayo with President Ruto and Emmerson Mnangagwa

His involvement in high-profile luxury car purchases is currently under scrutiny in ongoing money laundering audits. Moreover, the government of Lesotho has expelled him for falsely claiming that his wealth originates from supplying oil to the country—a claim he asserted involved supplying three million liters of oil per week.

The incident occurred under the watch of Zimbabwean security details during a photo opportunity arranged by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s team. This inclusion of Chivayo, a non-state actor, in such high-level diplomatic settings not only compromises the perceived integrity of the visiting states but also reflects poorly on Mnangagwa’s administration, according to business commentator Brighton Musonza.

Musonza criticized Mnangagwa’s decision to allow Chivayo’s presence as “breathtakingly shocking” and indicative of a leadership style that personalizes presidential functions to the extent of merging state affairs with personal and familial interests. He noted, “Mnangagwa has brought the office of the President and the State into disrepute. His arrogance of him imposing @wicknellchivayo, a none state figure into the state is breathtakingly shocking.”

The event lacked the presence of Zimbabwean cabinet ministers, featuring only Mnangagwa, Chivayo, his sons, and numerous security details, further emphasizing the personal over the official. Such arrangements have reportedly deterred other African leaders from visiting Zimbabwe, as noted by Musonza, who mentioned that Ruto himself was hesitant and arrived in the country later than scheduled.

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa commented on the issue, stating that Mnangagwa has unduly personalized the presidency, treating state events as private family gatherings. This approach not only undermines the formal stature of state occasions but also potentially exploits these platforms for personal gain.

The controversy extends to Chivayo’s professional claims, which remain unsupported by any significant business operations or corporate endorsements. His presence at state functions is seen not just as a personal favor but as a strategic maneuver by Mnangagwa to enhance his transactional leadership style, where luxury and loyalty intertwine in the shadows of multimillion-dollar regional business dealings.

This incident raises significant concerns about the implications for international trust and cooperation, with potential ramifications for both domestic and foreign policy fronts. As the details of this association continue to unfold, the focus remains on how both Zimbabwean and Kenyan leadership will navigate the fallout of this diplomatic misstep.

The controversy involving President William Ruto’s photograph with the notorious figure during his visit to Zimbabwe could potentially have implications under various Kenyan and international laws. Here are some of the laws and legal principles that may come into play:

### Kenyan Laws
1. Leadership and Integrity Act (2012) – This Act stipulates the conduct expected of public officials in Kenya, emphasizing integrity, honesty, and responsibility. Any perceived associations with criminal elements can be seen as contrary to the values upheld by this Act.

2. Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act (2003)** – Under this law, public officials are expected to avoid any conduct that would be detrimental to the economic interests of Kenya or that would align them with economic crimes, including money laundering.

3. Public Officer Ethics Act (2003) – This Act sets out the ethical standards for public officers, requiring them to maintain behavior that avoids any conflict of interest and preserves public confidence in public institutions.

4. Foreign Relations and Diplomatic Immunities – Although not a single codified law, various statutes govern the conduct of Kenyan officials abroad and the country’s diplomatic relations, focusing on upholding the nation’s image and interests on the international stage.

### International Laws and Agreements
1. United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) – Kenya, as a signatory, is bound by the provisions of UNCAC, which includes measures against corruption, including bribery and money laundering. These provisions extend to actions and behaviors of state leaders that could compromise the country’s commitment to fighting corruption.

2. African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption – This regional agreement obligates member states, including Kenya, to adopt effective measures to combat corruption and promote integrity among their leaders.

3. International Standards on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism & Proliferation (The Financial Action Task Force – FATF Recommendations)** – As a member of the global financial system, Kenya is influenced by FATF recommendations designed to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, which includes monitoring politically exposed persons (PEPs).

### Potential Implications
The implications of the controversy could range from diplomatic tensions between Kenya and other nations to internal political repercussions for President Ruto, especially concerning public perception and trust. Legal proceedings or investigations might be initiated if there is perceived breach of any of the above statutes, affecting both the presidency and the broader political landscape in Kenya.

It’s also important to note that any legal repercussions would depend heavily on the specifics of the incident, any direct involvement, and the outcomes of any subsequent investigations. The integrity and transparency with which the situation is handled by Kenyan authorities would also play a crucial role in shaping the legal and political outcomes.

Is Wicknell Chivayo Stealing Limelight From Emmerson Mnangagwa?

Concerns Regarding the President’s Association of Wicknell Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Govt

His Excellency President Cde ED Mnangangwa
President of Zimbabwe
Office of The President
Munhumutapa Building
Samora Machel Ave
Harare

Subject: Concerns Regarding the Association of Wicknell Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Government

Your Excellency,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the reported association of Wicknell Chivhayo, a convicted criminal, with the Zimbabwean Government, particularly his participation in official engagements such as the meeting with President Ruto of Kenya. This association has raised significant alarm among the citizens of Zimbabwe, as it seems to contradict the principles of transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption that your administration has championed.
I understand that Mr. Chivhayo has recently sought to have his criminal record from 2005 reversed through legal means, as reported in The Herald (source: Link to News:Wicknell_Chivayo_Seeks_to_Have_Criminal_Record_Reversed). While it is within his rights to pursue legal remedies, it is crucial to consider the potential implications of associating with individuals who have been convicted of serious criminal offences.
As a concerned citizen, I would like to highlight the importance of consistency in the application of principles and standards when it comes to the association of public figures with individuals who have a criminal background. Your Excellency, I recall your firm stance in removing former President Robert Mugabe, citing that he was “surrounded by criminals.” This decision was seen as a crucial step in addressing corruption and restoring public confidence and trust in the government.
Given this context, the recent association of Mr. Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Government, particularly in an official capacity, raises questions about the commitment to upholding the principles that led to the removal of former President Mugabe. It is essential to avoid sending mixed messages to the public and ensure that the government’s actions align with its stated objectives.
Parading Mr. Chivhayo as a de facto official of the Zimbabwean Government during the meeting with President Ruto of Kenya has not only raised eyebrows but also damaged the reputation of our nation. It is vital to consider the potential negative consequences of such associations, both domestically and internationally. The perception of Zimbabwe as a country that tolerates or even promotes individuals with criminal backgrounds can harm our international standing and hinder efforts to attract foreign investment and foster positive diplomatic relations.
Your Excellency, I humbly urge you to consider the concerns of the citizens and reevaluate the association of Mr. Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Government. Upholding the highest ethical standards and maintaining a strong stance against corruption are essential for the progress and development of our nation. By taking decisive action to distance the government from individuals with criminal records, you will demonstrate your unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Your actions will not only shape the perception of our government but also impact the future trajectory of Zimbabwe. Let us strive together to build a nation that upholds the rule of law, fights corruption, and fosters a prosperous future for all Zimbabweans.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi

Mnangagwa’s Diplomatic Gambit: Introducing Wicknell Chivayo to Kenyan President Ruto

Whether his influence will endure or wane remains uncertain, but his presence on the political stage signals a departure from conventional norms.

As President Mnangagwa engages in diplomatic overtures with his Kenyan counterpart, the introduction of Chivayo adds an intriguing subplot to the proceedings. Whether it represents a calculated move or a mere coincidence, it underscores the intricate dynamics at play within Zimbabwean politics.

As the nation grapples with economic challenges and political uncertainty, the role of figures like Chivayo continues to provoke debate and speculation.

In the corridors of power at Bulawayo Statehouse, where deals are brokered and alliances forged, Chivayo’s presence serves as a reminder of the complexities and contradictions inherent in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

As the saga unfolds, Zimbabweans watch with keen interest, mindful of the implications for their nation’s future.

Mnangagwa Rejects ZiG

Zimbabwe’s Government Refuses Its Own Currency: The Rise and Fall of the “ZiG”

By Farai D Hove | In an unprecedented move in modern economics, the government of Zimbabwe has officially rejected its own currency, the ZiG, as a valid form of tender for state services. This controversial decision has not only thrown the country’s monetary system into disarray but has also sparked significant political and social repercussions. The move, announced in early April 2024, has left both citizens and international observers bewildered, with many questioning the viability of a currency that the issuing government itself will not accept.

The ZiG was introduced with great fanfare by President Mr. Strong ZiG (a pseudonym adopted by the President himself in honor of the new currency) as a revolutionary step toward stabilizing Zimbabwe’s tumultuous economic landscape. However, despite the optimism, the rollout of ZiG was met with skepticism from the onset. Economic analysts were cautious, citing Zimbabwe’s long history of financial instability and hyperinflation, most notoriously in 2008 when inflation rates hit an astronomical figure, rendering the Zimbabwean dollar virtually worthless.

April 2024 marked a historical anomaly when the government declared that the ZiG would not be accepted for crucial state services, including passport issuance and tax payments. This decision effectively undermines the currency’s legitimacy and utility, as citizens are now forced to transact in foreign currencies for essential services, relegating the ZiG to a secondary role in the economy.

The immediate economic implication of this decision is a severe lack of faith in the ZiG, leading to its rapid devaluation. This devaluation sparks a vicious cycle of inflation, as the cost of imported goods rises sharply when priced in ZiGs. Additionally, the refusal to accept the ZiG in payment for state services suggests a move towards dollarization, albeit unofficially, which might stabilize prices but at the cost of national economic sovereignty.

Socially, the rejection of the ZiG has widened the gap between the wealthy, who have access to foreign currencies, and the poor, who are left holding a devaluing currency with diminishing purchasing power. Politically, the situation has led to unrest, with citizens expressing their dissatisfaction through protests and calls for economic reform. The credibility of President Mr. Strong ZiG has also been severely undermined, as the moniker that was meant to symbolize strength and stability has become a byword for economic mismanagement.

Internationally, the situation has led to a hesitancy among foreign investors and aid organizations to engage with Zimbabwe’s economy. The instability introduced by such a fundamental lack of confidence in the national currency could deter investment and development aid, further isolating Zimbabwe economically.

The refusal of the Zimbabwean government to accept its own currency for state services is a paradox that challenges conventional economic theory and practice. It raises profound questions about the future of the ZiG and Zimbabwe’s economic recovery. Moving forward, the government faces the daunting task of restoring confidence in its currency and its economic policies. This will require not only addressing the immediate liquidity crisis but also implementing long-term reforms aimed at economic stability and growth. The saga of the ZiG continues to unfold, with the eyes of the world watching closely as Zimbabwe navigates this unprecedented economic challenge.

Ruto Denounces Non Existent Sanctions To Please Mnangagwa

In a world marked by geopolitical tensions and economic challenges, gestures of solidarity and support take on added significance, laying the foundation for stronger partnerships and shared prosperity in the years to come.

RBZ Releases Useless ZiG Coins

By Business Reporter- Despite mounting pressure to abandon the recently introduced worthless currency, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) is forging ahead with the release of Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) coins, sparking widespread criticism and concern among citizens.

Scheduled to debut next Tuesday, these coins mark a controversial move by the RBZ, disregarding pleas to halt the production of what many consider a futile endeavour.

Finance Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube, speaking to state media, defended the decision, stating that the launch of the worthless coins is proceeding as planned.

The useless ZiG currency was first introduced by Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr. John Mushayavanhu during his presentation of the Monetary Policy Statement on April 5, igniting a storm of controversy.

Outlined in Statutory Instrument 75 of 2024, titled the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (Issue of ZiG Coins) Notice, 2024, the features of these coins have done little to assuage public skepticism.

According to the notice, the ZiG coins will be issued in denominations of one, two, and five ZiG. The design features include the Zimbabwe Bird on the obverse side, with the reverse side depicting symbols such as the Flame Lily, Great Zimbabwe Monument, and Victoria Falls, depending on the denomination.

Critics have lambasted the move, labelling it as a futile attempt to revive a collapsing economy.

The announcement of the composition of the coins, with the one ZiG consisting mainly of steel and nickel, further fueled skepticism about their value and utility.

As Zimbabwe grapples with economic instability and hyperinflation, the decision to prioritize the production of these seemingly worthless coins has drawn sharp rebuke from citizens and economists alike.

With the release of the ZiG coins imminent, the RBZ faces mounting pressure to address the concerns regarding the viability and purpose of introducing a currency that many perceive as destined for failure.

As the nation braces for the arrival of these controversial coins, the future of Zimbabwe’s monetary landscape remains uncertain amidst growing discontent and skepticism.

Madzibaba Ishmael Freed

By Staff Reporter- The High Court has granted bail to the controversial religious cult leader, Ishmael Chokurongerwa, popularly known as Madzibaba Ishmael, after spending almost two months in remand prison.

Chokurongerwa (54), who leads the Johanne Masowe Penyera Nyika sect, and seven other members of the sect, were arrested for allegedly violating the Burial and Children’s Act, respectively.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the High Court ruled that there was no longer any risk that Madzibaba Ishmael would interfere with witnesses, hence the decision to grant him bail.

Apart from an order to deposit US$ 1,000 with the clerk of court Norton Magistrstes’ Court, the High Court also barred Chokurongerwa from conducting any church gatherings anywhere until the matter is finalised.

He was also ordered not to interfere with witnesses directly or indirectly until the matter is finalised and to report to the police three times a week.

Chokurongerwa’s co-accused; Shingirai Ngawafune (42), Takavengwa Gwenzi (55), Zebedia Sigudu (49), Devlodge Katsande (47), Wonder Kabaya (41), and Siribinio Chikurunhe (53) were granted bail early this month by the Harare High Court.

The trial for all eight individuals will commence on May 7, 2024, at the Norton Magistrates’ Court.

The State alleges that Chokurongerwa and his associates conducted funeral services for Hazel Chikunhire and Winlet Kabaya without obtaining proper burial orders for the deceased.

Furthermore, the sect leaders, who acted as guardians for the children residing at the church’s compound in Nyabira, are accused of neglecting, abandoning, and exposing the children to conditions likely to cause unnecessary suffering.

UK: Qoki Zindlovukazi Program Declared Fraudulent, Faces Multiple Refund Demands

By Investigative Reporter | ZimEye | The Qoki Zindlovukazi program, run by UK based nurse, Sithule Tshuma and her colleagues, including HSBC banker Karen Kumalo, Portia Kumalo, and Nompilo Moyo, has been exposed as a fraudulent scheme. The program which is the brainchild of politician, Professor Welshman Ncube’s official publicist Jimmy Chasafara, has been found to have sold fake title deeds to unsuspecting victims, predominantly women, since 2017, amassing a staggering USD25 million in the process.

Sithule Tshuma was also selling farm lands which can neither be subdivided nor be sold at any time.

Sithule Tshuma

Every component of Qoki’s variants is fraudulent, a detailed a comprehensive investigation pack done by solicitors in both Bulawayo and Harare displays.

The paper is now the basis upon which international institutions have begun issuing refunds to victims as a stop gap measure. Recent developments have seen UK auditors red-flagging the program as a scam, further cementing its fraudulent nature.

Amid mounting pressure, over 26 aggrieved complainants have so far successfully secured refunds, with the majority of these reversals occurring between 2023 and 2024.

The most recent refund case, witnessed outside Manchester County Court on April 25, 2024, shed light on the ordeal faced by victims. The victim, identified only as Pindai, expressed gratitude for finally receiving restitution after three long years of waiting. Hers is among the four quick reversals done in the last sixty days.

Bank documents seen by ZimEye reflect the reversals under the clause: fraud.

“Three years, three years. Thank you very much. Thank you,” said Pindai when asked about the duration of the wait.

Pindai is one of the women who invested an average of over forty five thousand (45,000) US dollars per person.

When questioned about the amount and message to other affected women, Pindai urged perseverance and solidarity, citing the importance of following instructions from trusted sources like Simba and Bhudhi Ezra.

These revelations emerged as 18 victims landed in Manchester on 25 April to converge over their refunds and more ideas were exchanged on how to assist others obtain their refunds.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to delve deeper into the intricate web of deceit orchestrated by the Qoki Zindlovukazi program, bringing justice to those who have fallen victim to this elaborate scam.

The people behind the scam are principally Sithule Tshuma who is the company owner, and the syndicate’s front that involves Professor Welshman Ncube’s publicist Jimmy Chasafara who is the professor’s party calls the Baba Jukwa of Matebeleland. When contacted by ZimEye, Chasafara announced in broad terms saying “Qoki is my baby,” and said the scheme’s investment promises will not amount to anything such that even his own family will never put a cent into it. In interviews, NHS support worker who is on a £3,000 salary, boasts of amassing multiple properties in UK and Zimbabwe in the period.

Professor Welshman Ncube has not denied his involvement in the scam, saying although his firm has officially operated as the lawyer for the both complainant and defendant, he has not received any money from the scam (see tweet).

The third person behind the scam is HSBC banker, Karen Kumalo who is on video narrating that the scam is her personal project. She has been contacted and declined to comment over revelations that the program is fraudulent from inception.

Kumalo’s sister, Portia is also a syndicate member, while the other one is Bridget Dube.

National Youth Service Condemned

Former Zimbabwe National Students Union leader Tapiwanashe Chiriga said Zimbabwe was facing drought and the focus should be towards the national disaster.

“The reintroduction of the youth service is case of wrong priorities at the wrong time for the wrong reasons. The nation could use the resources meant for this programme in more productive and life-saving ways,” said Chiriga.

“Zimbabwe is facing a devastating drought that has since been declared a national disaster. The focus of the nation right now should be towards ensuring food security for the 2,7 million people facing acute food shortages.

“The money the government intends to use for this vehicle of violence could be used to better our education systems, particularly financing the BEAM programme which could improve access to education.”

Chiriga said youths in Zimbabwe need jobs, equal opportunities to succeed and basic social services.

“The youth service is not a solution to the problems any young person is facing. There’s no benefit to be gained by our country from the reintroduction of the National Youth Service. It is waste of resources with a huge potential to replicate its violent past,” he said.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure accused the Zanu PF government of prioritising its power retention agenda as a national project, saying the youth service has no benefit to the youths.

“Zanu PF strangely confuses the party’s power retention agenda as a national project,” he said. “Zanufication of ecology of thought of young people should not be confused for youth service.

“The youth should be absorbed into the productive sectors of the economy not to spend valuable time assimilating fiction of Zanu PF’s supposed heroics. The nation is in a crisis because our young people are idle. The State should be seized with planning ways of absorbing all young people into the economy.”

The government is, however, arguing that youth service would equip youth through various skills training to create employment for themselves and others.

It says the training would emphasise on alleviating poverty by funding youth empowerment projects.

Turkey Based Zim Woman Patience Mangezi In Fraud Storm

A Turkish-based Zimbabwean woman is in the eye of a storm amid allegations of conning at least 20 victims and getting away with thousands of United States dollars in botched business deals.

Unmasking the face behind a string of unfulfilled business transactions, Patience Mangezi is caught in a web littered with accusations of fraud and scamming.

Her story runs deep, from vile insults to threats of witchcraft on her victims.

For fear of victimisation, one of the victims opened up on her experience, describing it as a deal with the devil.

“Up to now, I don’t sleep properly after she threatened me with death. I don’t know whether I will be able to recover my hard-earned cash from her.”

Her voice lowers as she struggles to contain her emotions. The pain of losing over a thousand United States dollars is too much to bear.

“This is all I had, my child could not even go to school after I lost that money,”

Yet Patience is cold to this emotional pain, rather opting to threaten her victims.

“You can go and report wherever you want, you are not getting that money. I come from a family whose lineage is anchored on three notorious traditional healers. You cannot do anything to me.”

A trail of complaints defines her Facebook page.

Only the bold will dare to confront her directly, but the reprimand is harsh.

“You are fools. Let’s see if you will get the money,” she said.

At least 20 women have suffered the same predicament, all with a similar result.

“She is cold-hearted, I have never seen a woman like her. It has been over a year and instead of her making good on her promises she torments you. I have lost over US$2 000 to this woman,”

A precept from a famous quote reads:

“Unfair and deceptive business practices have been illegal in most states for decades. Yet traffickers routinely use what appear to be legitimate businesses as fronts for their illegal exploitation. It’s the ultimate business scam.”

A case has since been opened at Harare Central Police Station against Patience Mangezi under IRB number 060063.

Kerina Mujati Exposes Manipulative Political Tactics in New Article.

Kerina Mujati

In an explosive article, political analyst, Kerina Mujati delves into the controversial strategy dubbed “Make Him Appear Like A Doofus” (MHALAD), suggesting its repeated use in Zimbabwean politics. Mujati discusses the notable incidents involving former President Robert Mugabe, where he was allegedly given the wrong speech by his aide George Charamba.

The first event saw Mugabe identify the error, while the second, occurring in Parliament, had Mugabe unknowingly read an outdated speech, portraying him in an unflattering light.

Mujati argues that this tactic was not only used against Mugabe but also his wife, Grace Mugabe, and now seems to be employed against Soko Chiwenga, describing a recent incident that cast Chiwenga in a similarly incompetent role. She links these events to a broader political manipulation orchestrated by Emmerson Mnangagwa, suggesting that these orchestrated mishaps serve to undermine political figures publicly.

The article sheds light on the dark corners of political maneuvering, where power plays overshadow truth and integrity. Mujati’s incisive commentary calls for a closer look at the narratives crafted by those in power and their impact on the political landscape of Zimbabwe.

By Kerina Mujati | Soko Chiwenga is now falling victim to the strategy of Make Him Appear Like A Doofus (MHALAD). I recall George Charamba giving Mugabe the wrong speech on two separate occasions. The first time it happened, Mugabe caught the “mistake.” I saw a video clip in which Mugabe was really upset and Charamba was groveling in apology. Mugabe had vetted the correct speech. Charamba went on to surreptitiously switch the speeches. What was he doing with a paper copy of an old speech?

The second time, it was in parliament. Mugabe read the entire speech, wrong as it was. It was a speech he had given before. This made Mugabe look like a demented old man who no longer had the mental capacity to be president. It did not help that the madaranganwa-toothed Chinotimba went on to praise the speech. All this added to the portrayal of Mugabe as a doofus.

It became apparent that this was a Make-Him-Appear-Like-A-Doofus (MHALAD) strategy. Grace Mugabe fell prey to the same strategy. She was made to look like a deranged drunkard.

With this utterly foolish speech, Chiwenga is now being made to appear like a doofus, confirming what Macmillan, Cross, and Lacoste Youths have said about him.

In all three cases, the beneficiary had and has a name and a very unpretty face. It is Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. As for Charamba, he is a slithering snake, a chiva chemunhu.??

Three Zimbos Jailed For 10 000 Years In SA

By Crime and Court Reporter- Three Zimbabweans have been jailed for 10 939 years for fraud by the South Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, South Africa.

The three Zimbabweans and six others were convicted on 391 counts of money laundering, fraud and forgery.

The other offences are assisting another person to benefit from unlawful activities, acquisition, possession or use of proceeds of unlawful activities, contravening the Birth and Death Registration Act, contravening the Identification Act, the Attorneys Act, and the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

The Zimbabweans are Mavudzi Maxwell Ndlovu (59), Edward Shoniwa (56) and Jeremiah Nyasha Musiwacho Dube (59).

In a statement, the South African Police Service said the National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya welcomed the sentencing of nine of the thirteen accused persons.

“Two of the accused, Bonisiwe Prizzer Ndlovu (52) and Thabile Octavia Nkosi (51), both South African females, met their untimely deaths during the course of the trial whilst two others, Mfanafuthi Daniel Khanyile (47) and Adam Michael Phiri (42), both South African males, turned State witnesses.

“It is reported that from 2009 and 2016, the accused were members of various entities registered in terms of the Close Corporations Act and/or the Companies Act. They also registered their companies for Value Added Tax (VAT) in terms of the South African Revenue Services Act,” reads the statement.

“A total of 23 cases were opened at the Johannesburg Central police station against the accused. These cases were referred to the Gauteng-based Serious Corruption Investigation for in-depth probe.

“The accused, while acting in furtherance of a common purpose, submitted fraudulent VAT returns for and on behalf of the said companies claiming undue VAT refund from the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

SAPS said the entities in question were not trading or conducting any business during the period they claimed the refunds and therefore did not incur any input expenses to warrant reimbursement.

SARS was prejudiced of R300 million.

Macheso, Jah Prayzah Trouble Alert Over Wicknell Chivayo Cars | Features

File copy

FILM FEATURE BASED ON TRUE STORY

By Fred Jukwa | Showbiz | Opinion | UPCOMING | In the dark, pre-dawn hours, a quiet buzz of activity stirs in the usually tranquil streets of Harare, Zimbabwe. Under the blanket of night, an unusual fleet of vehicles rolls in, each one marked with the bold, unmistakable letters: FBI. The arrival of these foreign agents on Zimbabwean soil is unprecedented, their mission cloaked in secrecy and urgency.

Their targets: none other than two of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated musicians, Alick Macheso and Jah Prayzah. Both artists, beloved by many, have recently been gifted top-of-the-line luxury cars, their sleek designs a stark contrast to the modest surroundings where many of their fans lived. These gifts, however, were not simple gestures of goodwill. They were purchased with money laundered by Wicknell Chivayo, a notorious fraudster with a rap sheet that included multiple convictions for financial crimes.

As the FBI agents approach the homes of Macheso and Jah Prayzah, local Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers accompany them, their faces set in grim lines. They’ve been briefed and given explicit orders: the cars are to be impounded and the musicians detained, pending further investigation. The streets, usually silent at this hour, echo with the sound of doors being knocked and orders being shouted.

At Macheso’s residence, lights flicker on as agents surround the property. Macheso, caught in the midst of sleep, is visibly bewildered as he’s read his rights and led outside. His prized vehicle, a symbol of his success, is loaded onto a tow truck, its departure watched by neighbors who whisper in shock and confusion.

Jah Prayzah’s home sees a similar scene unfold. As he’s escorted out in handcuffs, the betrayal in his eyes is palpable. He’d accepted the car without question, a gift he thought was from a benefactor impressed by his music, not laundered money. Cameras flash as media, tipped off about the raid, capture every moment of his humiliation.

The fallout is swift and severe. Both artists are taken to the police station, their protests of ignorance doing little to sway the officers. The news spreads like wildfire, fans and critics alike stunned by the developments. The implications are grave, not just legally but personally. The U.S. Embassy, acting on information from the FBI, tags and endorses their passports, effectively blacklisting them from entering America and any NATO country. Their dreams of international tours evaporate into the night air, replaced by the stark reality of their situation.

The community reacts with a mix of anger and disappointment. Some fans rally, arguing the artists were unaware of the tainted nature of the gifts, while others feel betrayed, their admiration tarnished by the association with criminal activities. The debate spills over into social media, where hashtags both in support of and against the musicians trend for days.

As the sun rises over Zimbabwe, the events of the night set the stage for a prolonged legal battle and a struggle for redemption. Macheso and Jah Prayzah face not just the loss of their vehicles but the daunting task of clearing their names and salvaging their reputations in a country where they were once revered. Meanwhile, the streets of Harare slowly return to normal, the night’s drama lingering like a bad dream, a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change.

Accepting high-value gifts such as luxury cars from individuals involved in suspicious financial activities, such as money laundering, can expose recipients to significant legal risks. When a gift is purchased with funds derived from criminal activity, it can be considered an extension of the criminal enterprise itself. Recipients may find themselves implicated in broader investigations, facing charges of conspiracy, accessory to the laundering process, or benefiting from the proceeds of crime. Additionally, possession of property known to be associated with crime can lead to legal actions such as asset seizure or forfeiture. Such associations can tarnish personal and professional reputations, leading to long-term legal and social consequences. Thus, accepting gifts without verifying their origins and the legality of the funds used can be a perilous oversight with serious legal repercussions.

In a recent development this month, Lesotho’s Minister of Energy, Prof. Nqosa Leuta Mahao, categorically denied the assertions made by Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo regarding his alleged fuel supply to the Lesotho government. Through COZWVA’s liaison, Borane Manyeli, Prof. Mahao stated, “we don’t have any contract supplying fuel from Sir Wicknell or any company associated with him.”

This statement comes in the wake of Chivayo’s robust defense against accusations of illegal dealings, where he claimed, “I have 50 trucks and I supply 3 million liters of fuel to Lesotho every week…” He discredited the accusations as misguided and stemming from poverty-driven jealousy, “Very stupid. It’s not my fault that you’re poor…”

The Lesotho government’s rebuttal adds a dramatic twist to Chivayo’s narrative, highlighting a stark contradiction between his claims and the official stance of the country he purportedly supplies. This revelation not only questions the veracity of Chivayo’s business operations but also casts a shadow over his recent pronouncements.

The fallout from this development is expected to intensify scrutiny of Chivayo’s business engagements, especially considering his entanglement in legal challenges within Zimbabwe. The business mogul faces charges after the Supreme Court reversed a prior acquittal relating to a $5.6 million fraud case concerning the Gwanda Solar Power Project.

As the situation unfolds, the public eagerly awaits further clarification from Chivayo in light of the Lesotho government’s clear disavowal of his business assertions.

RBZ Governor Dumps US Dollar For ZiG

By Business Reporter- RBZ Governor John Mushayavanhu’s recent announcement to phase out the United States dollar in favour of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency has raised eyebrows and scepticism among Zimbabweans.

Mushayavanhu’s assertion that the de-dollarization plan will succeed, with the aim to ban the USD by 2026, seems detached from the economic reality faced by the nation.

While the RBZ paints a rosy picture of ZiG as a solution to exchange rate volatility and inflation, many Zimbabweans remain unconvinced.

The roots of the country’s economic woes lie deeper than the choice of currency.

Zimbabwe has grappled with hyperinflation, currency instability, and economic mismanagement for over two decades.

The introduction of ZiG, touted as backed by gold and other precious metals, is presented as a panacea for Zimbabwe’s economic woes.

However, skepticism arises when examining the feasibility and sustainability of such a move.

Critics argue that simply introducing a new currency does not address the underlying structural issues plaguing the economy.

Mushayavanhu’s claims that 80% of transactions currently occur in USD and that the de-dollarization process will gradually shift this balance seem overly optimistic. Given the lack of trust in the local currency due to past experiences of hyperinflation and economic instability, convincing Zimbabweans to embrace ZiG will be an uphill battle.

Moreover, Mushayavanhu’s dismissal of the parallel market for foreign currency as “non-existent” is met with skepticism. Reports of individuals resorting to the parallel market for foreign exchange highlight the deep-rooted issues of trust and confidence in the official banking system.

The involvement of law enforcement agencies in curbing the parallel market raises questions about the government’s approach to addressing economic challenges. Critics argue that heavy-handed tactics may further erode trust in the financial system and exacerbate social tensions.

Despite assurances from the RBZ, the viability of ZiG remains uncertain. While backed by gold, the stability of the currency hinges on various factors, including global gold prices and economic policies. Without addressing fundamental issues such as corruption, mismanagement, and lack of investor confidence, the introduction of ZiG may offer little more than a temporary reprieve.

In conclusion, while the RBZ’s efforts to promote ZiG may be well-intentioned, they must be accompanied by comprehensive economic reforms to address the root causes of Zimbabwe’s economic challenges. Merely switching currencies without addressing underlying structural issues is unlikely to lead to sustainable economic stability and prosperity for the nation.

At Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty Ltd, we understand the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.

World Environment Day presents an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together in support of a healthier planet.

By working hand in hand with local communities and stakeholders, we can make a tangible impact and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future.

Let us use this World Environment Day as a catalyst for change.

Together, we can turn the tide against climate change, restore our natural landscapes, and build resilient communities.

Join us in planting trees, fostering environmental stewardship, and transforming illegal dump sites into vibrant green spaces. Together, we can make a difference.

Chitando Returns To Mines Ministry

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made significant changes to his cabinet, including the reinstatement of Winston Chitando as the Minister of Mines and Mining Development.

This decision comes as part of a broader reshuffle that saw the reassignment of several ministers and the appointment of new deputy ministers.

The reshuffle, announced by the government on Wednesday, took immediate effect, signaling a strategic realignment within Mnangagwa’s administration.

Notably, Winston Chitando returns to his former role as Minister of Mines and Mining Development, a position he previously held before stepping down.

In response to the reshuffle, President Mnangagwa emphasized the need for effective governance and accountability within his cabinet.

He stated, “These changes are aimed at enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability in government operations.”

Alongside Chitando’s reinstatement, other notable changes include the reassignment of Soda Zhemu to the National Housing and Social Amenities Ministry and the appointment of Daniel Garwe as the new Minister of Local Government and Public Works.

Additionally, two new deputy ministers were appointed: Musa Ncube for National Housing and Social Amenities and Headman Moyo for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs.

Reject ZiG, Chamisa Aide Declares

By A Correspondent

Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, a prominent ally of opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has issued a resolute stance against Zimbabwe’s new currency, ZiG, denouncing it as “useless” amidst broader calls for rejecting the ruling ZANU PF party.

In a direct and unequivocal statement, Chuma declared, “For ZiG, corruption and all other evils, ZANU PF must be rejected at all levels.”

This assertion underscores a broader sentiment within the opposition movement that links economic grievances with political change.

Chuma’s stance on the ZiG currency reflects widespread skepticism and dissatisfaction with Zimbabwe’s economic policies under the current regime.

The introduction of ZiG was intended to address currency stability but has faced criticism for failing to address underlying economic challenges.

In urging action, Chuma made a specific call to voters, stating, “We urge Harare East residents to vote for Ropafadzo Cheza & Mt Pleasant to vote Nason Mamutse in Saturday’s by-elections.”

This endorsement signals a strategic move by the opposition to mobilize support and challenge the ruling party in local elections.

The convergence of economic critique with political mobilization underscores the interconnected nature of Zimbabwe’s challenges.

The rejection of ZiG currency is emblematic of broader grievances against government mismanagement and corruption, fueling calls for political change.

Chuma’s call to action highlights the stakes of the upcoming by-elections and the role of grassroots mobilization in effecting political change.

By advocating for specific candidates, Chuma seeks to galvanize support and translate discontent into electoral outcomes.

As Zimbabwe navigates ongoing economic and political challenges, voices like Chuma’s serve as catalysts for mobilization and reform.

The rejection of ZiG and the call to reject ZANU PF resonate with citizens disillusioned by years of economic hardship and political repression.

Stephen Sarkozy Chuma’s declaration reflects a broader narrative of resistance and mobilization against entrenched power structures in Zimbabwe.

The rejection of ZiG currency underscores deeper grievances and aspirations for a more accountable and responsive governance.

As the political landscape evolves, Chuma’s message signals a call to action for citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of their country.

Mnangagwa Can’t Rule Forever…

By A Correspondent

In a bold and defiant declaration, former MDC Alliance and CCC Youth Assembly spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, has sounded the call for change in Zimbabwe, confidently asserting that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s reign will not endure against the tide of transformation sweeping the nation.

In a statement that reverberated with conviction, Chuma proclaimed, “Real change is coming. Yes, it’s coming sooner than expected. Not even Emmerson Mnangagwa and his bunch of looters can stop it.”

This assertion underscores a growing sentiment within the opposition and civil society that the current government’s grip on power is waning.

Chuma did not mince words when predicting the fate of Mnangagwa’s rule, stating emphatically, “2030 anenge asipo! Mnangagwa will not last the distance. The streets are calling!”

These words encapsulate a belief in the imminent shift in Zimbabwean politics, reflecting the aspirations and frustrations of a populace yearning for change.

The sentiment expressed by Chuma resonates with many Zimbabweans who have endured economic hardships and political repression under Mnangagwa’s administration.

The promise of a new era, symbolized by Chuma’s words, echoes the desire for a more inclusive, accountable, and progressive leadership.

Chuma’s statement serves as a rallying cry for those advocating for democratic reform and social justice in Zimbabwe.

It highlights the growing momentum of dissent and the resilience of civil society in challenging entrenched power structures.

As Zimbabwe approaches a pivotal period in its political trajectory, characterized by rising discontent and calls for reform, voices like Chuma’s underscore the urgency for genuine change.

The assertion that “Mnangagwa can’t rule forever” encapsulates a broader narrative of hope and determination among Zimbabweans striving for a brighter future.

Stephen Sarkozy Chuma’s declaration reflects a pivotal moment in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, where the call for change grows louder and more insistent.

As the tide of public opinion shifts, the inevitability of transformation becomes increasingly undeniable.

The days ahead promise to be defining as Zimbabwe navigates its path toward a new era of governance and accountability.

John Mushayavanhu Throws Massive ZiG Party, Rejects Own ZiG Money By Pegging Costs In USD

By A Correspondent

In a surprising turn of events, Dr. John Mushayavanhu, the recently appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, is set to host a lavish celebration party this Saturday in Gutu, his home area.

This extravagant event comes at a challenging time for Zimbabwe, with its economy facing persistent hardships.

The festivities are expected to cost a substantial amount, likely totaling thousands of dollars.

What has sparked notable interest and criticism, however, is the decision to budget the entire affair in United States dollars, as opposed to Zimbabwean currency.

“This move is particularly noteworthy because it reflects a lack of confidence in the local currency,” disclosed a government source on Friday.

This revelation has raised eyebrows, especially given Dr. Mushayavanhu’s prominent position within Zimbabwe’s economic hierarchy.

The timing of such an ostentatious gathering has also been a point of contention.

While many citizens struggle daily with economic challenges, including hyperinflation and currency devaluation, the decision to use a foreign currency for the celebration has been viewed as a stark contrast to the prevailing financial reality.

Dr. Mushayavanhu’s approach to the party’s finances has sparked debates about economic policy and leadership.

Some critics argue that using foreign currency for personal or public expenditures only serves to further undermine confidence in Zimbabwe’s own monetary system.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Governor suggest that the use of US dollars reflects practical considerations, given the volatility of Zimbabwe’s currency.

They maintain that it is a pragmatic choice to ensure the success and stability of the event.

As the event unfolds this weekend, all eyes will be on Gutu, where festivities will showcase both celebration and controversy. Dr. Mushayavanhu’s party, set against the backdrop of economic struggle, underscores the complex challenges facing Zimbabwe’s financial landscape and the delicate balance between fiscal policy and public perception.

After ZiG Failure, Mr Strongman ZiG Now Wants To Punish Innocent Businesses

VICE-PRESIDENT Constantino Chiwenga yesterday warned currency speculators and singled out the retail sector, threatening to shut down supermarkets if they are suspected of sabotaging the new Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency.

Officially opening the international business conference at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, Chiwenga said ZiG was here to stay.

“ZiG is there to stay forever,” Chiwenga said.

“The new currency will, therefore, not be subject to exchange rate volatility or manipulation by speculators.

“So, speculators somewhere [wherever you are] jumping around trying to play around in the supermarkets, we know [you]. Behave or you get shut down or we will lock you [up]. Two things.”

Government has introduced ZiG to replace the local currency that had severely lost value after being battered by inflation.

The local currency had been re-introduced in 2019 after President Emmerson Mnangagwa began his de-dollarisation drive.

Authorities say ZiG is backed by gold and foreign currency reserves as well as other precious minerals.

ZiG, introduced earlier this month, is currently trading at around 17 ZiG for one US dollar on the parallel market, although government’s official exchange rate is 13 ZiG to the US dollar.

“The ZiG is expected to provide a lasting solution to inflation expectations, which is critical for sustained price and exchange rate stability in the economy,” Chiwenga said.

“Given these boundless benefits, I, therefore, call on the public, the private sector, including the households, labour and businesses, civic society and the international community, to fully embrace and support the ZiG currency.”

Chiwenga also threatened gold smugglers, declaring that no single gramme of gold will leave the country unaccounted for, saying the mineral is needed to back up the new currency.

“We are going to put measures, strict measures, that can see heads rolling,” he said.

“Every gramme must be accounted for in our gold. We need our gold and because it is God-given. No one came with gold (to) Zimbabwe, but it’s in our soil.

“If we don’t want to mine it, it will stay there, but no one should touch it. So, all our money we are talking about here, the Zimbabwe Gold, is going to be anchored firmly, by our gold and gold, we get it from all our resources.”

Previous reports have linked gold dealers and smugglers to the ruling Zanu PF party, which, however, denies the claims.

In November, a relative of the Mnangagwa family, Henrietta Rushwaya, was convicted of trying to smuggle gold worth over US$330 000.

Rushwaya, who is president of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation, was found in 2020 with gold bars weighing 6kg in her handbag at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare while headed for the Middle East.

She was, however, later fined US$5 000 for the offence.

A documentary by the Qatar-based television network, Al Jazeera, released last year alleged that politically-connected persons were involved in the smuggling of gold.

Chiwenga said government introduced the structured currency to ensure a stable macroeconomic environment, free from exchange rate distortions.

“This bold step symbolises the government’s unwavering commitment to the de-dollarisation programme, premised on fiscal discipline, monetary prudence and economic revitalisation,” he said.

“When we talk of, say, predominantly gold, we can’t keep tonnes of coal in the central bank, or gold or iron, or lithium or platinum, we will sell them. We have got our gold and we shall dig and every gramme of gold shall not leave Zimbabwe.”

In addition, he noted that the structured currency was expected to enable long-term business planning and encourage savings and investments in the economy.

This, according to him, would go a long way in restoring confidence in the domestic currency.

“The stability of the ZiG will boost investor confidence in the economy and lead to increased production and exports. The economy will also experience an increase in domestic demand as people’s purchasing power gradually improves amid low and stable prices,” he said.

“Government, through the central bank, will, however, continue to monitor interest rates to curtail speculative borrowing, to ensure optimal money supply and to keep inflation under control.”

Govt Revises “O” & “A” Level Exam Curriculum

By Staff Reporter- The government has revised the Ordinary and Advanced Level curriculum focusing on the number of subjects learners should register.

In this revised curriculum, “O” level learners will now take a maximum of eight subjects — five of which are compulsory and three of their own choice — while a ceiling of four subjects has been set for Advanced Level under the Heritage-Based Education Curriculum whose operationalisation begins when schools open for the second term in a fortnight.

This follows the approval by Cabinet of the Heritage-Based Education 2024 to 2030 curriculum framework, which is expected to transform the education system to produce citizens with relevant skills aligned to national development. ISACA CISM exam dumps

The Heritage-Based Education 2024 to 2030 curriculum, which will not affect this year’s examination classes, is replacing the Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA).

In an interview, Director of Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr Taungana Ndoro, said the ministry is finalising the operational modalities of the Heritage-Based Curriculum.

“These are the initial modalities on how schools are supposed to run. For example, we will be having five compulsory subjects for O-Levels, and a total of eight learning areas per learner. For A-Level, there is requirement for a minimum of three learning areas and a maximum of four per learner. We should also remember that the curriculum is not affecting the current examination classes,” he said.

Circular 4 of 2024, released by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education early this week reads: “The implementation of the primary and secondary curriculum will be as follows: All the 2024 examination classes, that is, Grade Seven, Form Four and Form Six, will continue with the old curriculum and its assessment modalities.

“The 2024 examination classes (Grade Seven, Form Four and Form Six), will continue with CALAs to complete the assessment cycle and submit to ZIMSEC. Non-examination classes will commence School-Based Projects in May 2024.

Each learner at whatever level will do one project per learning area per year.

“For the 2024 Grade Six, Form Three and Form Five learners, school-based projects will be considered as part of the coursework mark to ZIMSEC in 2025.

The primary school level will continue to use the syllabi until December 31, 2024 after syllabus review.

Secondary school levels will continue to use the syllabi until December 31, 2024 after syllabus review.

“In Forms One to Four, all learners study the following five core and compulsory learning areas: (1) Mathematics (ii) English Language (iii) Indigenous Language and Literature (iv) Combined Science (v) Heritage Studies. In addition, learners also study at least three necessary electives.”

The circular further clarifies that the learner can now select three more subjects of their choice from a cluster of sciences, languages, humanities, commercials, technical and vocational education, physical education and arts.

The recommended number of learning areas for study per learner is eight.

On its implementation modalities, on Part 3.3.2, which deals with Upper Secondary School Level (Form Five and Form Six), the circular reads: “Form Five and Form Six learners will study learning areas according to the career pathway.

A learner is placed into a pathway of choice using the acquired competencies (knowledge, skills and values) and profile record.

“All learning areas have the same weight. The curriculum promotes five pathways which are Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM): Visual Performing Arts; Technical and Vocational Education and Training; Humanities and Commercials.”

The pathways for STEM, for example, has learning areas that include Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Agriculture, Geography, Physical Education, Sports and Mass Displays, while the Humanities pathway has Sociology, Indigenous Literature, Foreign Language, Heritage Studies, Art, Physical Education, Sports and Mass Displays.

Commercials pathway has Economics, Business Enterprise, Agribusiness, Physical Education, Sports and Mass Displays, Software Engineering and Computer Science.

Visual and Performing Arts pathway has learning areas that include Film, Music, Theatre Arts, Physical Education, Sports and Mass Displays, Computer Science and Software Engineering.

The Heritage-Based Education 2024-2030 Curriculum Framework is expected to transform the education system in order to produce citizens with relevant skills, applied knowledge, values, and dispositions that are key to national development, beginning with the communities they serve.

Zimbabwe Rural Teachers’ Union (ZRTU) president, Mr Martin Chaburumunda said the capping of the number of subjects at O and A-Level resonates with the plight of the rural child who was being pressurised to match standards being set by their counterparts at boarding and elite schools.

He said in the past, some learners were registering more than 20 subjects, while rural learners struggled to register eight.

“The rural learner was being eclipsed even they register seven subjects and score As by their boarding counterparts who register 15 subjects and score 15As. This will help ground our learners on a particular pathway. Our education should be career pathway-oriented,” he said. Manica Post

FAZ Deployed To Monitor Mt Pleasant, Harare East By-Elections

THE ruling Zanu PF party has deployed members of the Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) group ahead of tomorrow’s by-elections in Harare East and Mt Pleasant.

The group was in the vortex of a storm during the country’s harmonised elections in August last year after setting up “Exit Polls” desks outside polling stations where they quizzed voters who and whci party they had voted for.

At the time, the ruling party was evasion and never openly associated with the political outfit.

The two constituencies fell vacant when Fadzayi Mahere and Rusty Markham resigned from Parliament in solidarity with their former Citizens Coalition of Change leader Nelson Chamisa after he quit the party in a huff citing infiltration by the ruling party.

Zanu PF has revealed that it had deployed FAZ and Heritage Trust members at each polling station to secure victory in the by-elections.

The party’s provincial vice-chairman for Harare Ephraim Fundukwa told Vice-President Constantine Chiwenga at a rally in Harare East yesterday that the leadership was leaving no stone unturned to secure outright victory.

“I want to tell you Vice-President [Chiwenga] that the Harare province team is working hard. We have 50 polling stations for the by-election. On each of the polling stations, we have set teams of 20 members,” he said.

“The teams are being led by provincial, FAZ, the Heritage Trust and Young Women for ED members who are campaigning.”

FAZ president Kudakwashe Munsaka told NewsDay yesterday that there was nothing sinister about his members to being deployed by the ruling party because they were a Zanu PF affiliate.

“We have said umpteen times that we are an affiliate of Zanu PF and this has not changed. Yes, indeed, if the party deploys us to assist its campaign for any envisaged by-elections or any restructuring exercises for its organs, we will willingly oblige. We live to serve, as our motto aptly asserts,” he said.

FAZ emerged during the Zanu PF restructuring programmes in 2022, triggering chaotic party primary elections in which it was accused of tilting votes in favour of particular candidates within the party.

During the August 23-24 harmonised elections last year the group attracted widespread condemnation from the opposition CCC and observer missions, who accused it of being part of Zanu PF’s vote rigging machinery.

In their recommendations after the 2023 polls, foreign observer missions delivered scathing assessments of FAZ’s role in the plebiscite. The European Union Election Observer Mission (EUEOM) leader Fabio Massimo Castaldo said FAZ members intimidated the electorate.

The Commonwealth EOM, in its report, also raised concern over the presence of FAZ in rural areas, sentiments which were shared by the Southern African Development Community EOM.

ZiG Rejection, Chiwenga Threatens War

By Business Reporter- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has issued a stern warning to businesses and individuals resisting the use of the falling new Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, saying that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.

Officially opening the international business conference at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, Chiwenga urged both the public and private sectors as well as households to accept ZiG.

He said:

ZiG is there to stay forever. The new currency will, therefore, not be subject to exchange rate volatility or manipulation by speculators.

So, speculators somewhere [wherever you are] jumping around trying to play around in the supermarkets, we know [you]. Behave or you get shut down or we will lock you [up]. Two things.

The ZiG is expected to provide a lasting solution to inflation expectations, which is critical for sustained price and exchange rate stability in the economy.

Given these boundless benefits, I, therefore, call on the public, the private sector, including households, labour and businesses, civic society and the international community, to fully embrace and support the ZiG currency.

Chiwenga also said the government will put measures in place to curb the smuggling of gold out of the country. He said:

We are going to put measures, strict measures, that can see heads rolling. Every gramme must be accounted for in our gold.

We need our gold and because it is God-given. No one came with gold (to) Zimbabwe, but it’s in our soil.

If we don’t want to mine it, it will stay there, but no one should touch it. So, all our money we are talking about here, the Zimbabwe Gold, is going to be anchored firmly, by our gold and gold, we get it from all our resources.

Chiwenga asserted that the structured currency will enable long-term business planning and encourage savings and investments in the economy. He said:

The stability of the ZiG will boost investor confidence in the economy and lead to increased production and exports.

The economy will also experience an increase in domestic demand as people’s purchasing power gradually improves amid low and stable prices.

Government, through the central bank, will, however, continue to monitor interest rates to curtail speculative borrowing, to ensure optimal money supply and to keep inflation under control.

ZiG was launched on 05 April 2024 to replace the Zimbabwe dollar whose value had severely been eroded by inflation.

According to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, ZiG is backed by gold and foreign currency reserves as well as other precious minerals.

Mnangagwa Caught Rigging Mozambique Elections

By Political Reporter- ZANU PF party is helping Mozambique’s ruling FRELIMO party rig elections slated for October this year.

Reports from Masvingo Mirror detail a disturbing scheme where thousands of Zimbabwean nationals are being enlisted to vote in Mozambique’s presidential and parliamentary polls, with the apparent support of ZANU PF.

According to Masvingo Mirror’s investigative team, registration stations, notably one located at Nemamwa Growth Point just 25km southeast of Masvingo, have been actively issuing voter registration cards to Zimbabweans. Among these registered individuals are the publication’s own reporters, who obtained plastic voter registration cards during a visit to the registration center this past Tuesday.

Gloria Salvador, a spokesperson for RENAMO, Mozambique’s largest opposition party, has voiced concerns over the alleged electoral manipulation, asserting that evidence supporting these claims is already being gathered. The situation is so grave that it has prompted RENAMO to dispatch investigators to Zimbabwe for further inquiry.

This revelation comes in the wake of Mozambique’s local authority elections last October, which were marred by allegations of rigging, sparking violent protests across the nation. The current voter registration process, reportedly initiated on April 22 and set to continue until April 28, has raised suspicions with its long queues and the conspicuous presence of desks labeled with the insignia of ZANU PF.

While RENAMO’s aspiring presidential candidate, Venancio Mondlane, was unavailable for immediate comment, FRELIMO representative Samuel Jemua vehemently denied the accusations, stating that all those registering are Mozambican nationals, eligible to vote from abroad.

However, Mozambique’s National Election Commission (CNE) chairperson, Bispo Carlos Matsinhe, has refuted this assertion, labeling the registration of Zimbabweans as a mistake. Unlike Zimbabwe, Mozambique permits its citizens in the diaspora to vote, yet the current influx of registrations appears to be an anomaly.

The lack of accountability from ZANU PF officials, including spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, further adds to the suspicion surrounding these activities. Farai Marapira, ZANU PF’s communications director, has distanced the party from the alleged scheme, asserting their commitment to democratic principles.

Despite these assurances, the registration of Zimbabweans for Mozambique’s elections continues not only in Nemamwa but also in other parts of the country, prompting outrage from Zimbabwean opposition figures. Nelson Chamisa, leader of Zimbabwe’s main opposition, decried the situation as ‘massive rigging of encyclopedic magnitude,’ while MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora cautioned against Zimbabwean interference in Mozambique’s internal affairs, citing concerns over sovereignty.

Amidst this controversy, ordinary Zimbabwean citizens like Precious Gwangwava and Robina Mudura express mixed motivations for registering, ranging from a desire to exercise their voting rights to economic incentives tied to Mozambique’s political landscape.

As Mozambique braces for a pivotal election, with incumbent President Filipe Nyusi constitutionally barred from seeking a third term, the specter of external interference looms large, casting a shadow over the nation’s democratic process and threatening the integrity of its electoral system.”

By A Correspondent| Ex-footballer Edward Sadomba’s media shy wife Sherlyn has raised concern over reports coming out of the media about her fallout with the footie saying this is all hurting their children.

Her lawyers have written to H-Metro Editor Robson Sharuko over the reports which she said are misleading and all coming from an unnamed source which has opened room for falsified information.

Her lawyers, said their client is a professional who does not grant interviews to the press and are concerned where the reports are coming from as they feel the unnamed source is doing more harm than good.

They said H-Metro reports published on Wednesday and Thursday were inflammatory, speculative and exaggerated which is impacting her children negatively and demanded that they be pulled down from their social media platforms or they will instigate legal action.

ZiG’s A Bond Note Doomed To Fail

ZiG ANOTHER BOND NOTE DOOMED TO FAIL

Last week we had reports that the police were arresting money changers in the streets of Harare.

By Leonard Koni | Deputy President Constantino Chiwenga has also joined the band of those people threatening the money changers and to shut down supermarkets if they are suspected of sabotaging the ZiG currency. This is so barbaric and militant.

Ironically our professional police force which has so far arrested more than eighty money changers accusing them of fuelling inflation and weakening the new currency have failed to arrest those involved in corruption.

Surprisingly there are economic saboteurs who are causing economic haemorrhage in the country but just because they are politically connected no arrest is effected. Not even one person from those who were implicated in the Gold Mafia documentary produced by Al Jazeera last year was questioned. It just died a silent death.

If ZiG is strong currency why do we need to waste our resources through deploying the police to a currency which is powerful and backed by gold? How do we expect people being paid in ZiG to get forex and buy other requirements like fuel, passports, pay for number plates and customs duty? Why are people being arrested?

This currency has become a pale shadow of the Zimbabwe Republic Police. How on earth can you arrest a citizen for changing forex in a country where fuel, application for a passport and customs duty is supposed to be paid in foreign currency?

This command economy from this new republic will not work and has proved to be a failure. For John Mushayavanhu to tell the people that he got the advice of introducing the ZiG currency from the World Bank is just a fat lie. This is a statement coming from someone who just want to escape responsibility as the currency is facing resistance on the market.

Just like his predecessor Governor John Mushayavanhu has started the blame game before the start of the real coarse of the menu.

You introduce a new currency as a government and then fail to trust your own product and you expect the people to trust it by forcing them to accept it.

Arresting money changers will not solve the problem. The reality is that the people have lost faith in the regime. You can’t stitch an anus to cure diarrhea.

Such is the nature of an incompetent government which has ran out of ideas. Their businesses do not accept ZiG but they want people to accept it.

Punishing people for their own economic policies is the worst thing to do. This is so ridiculous and self defeating.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe must address this issue and consult other stakeholders to find out why people are shunning the ZiG currency. What is exactly backing this ZiG when we are told that some gold vaults are located somewhere at a secret place.

Zimbabwe needs a leadership which understands the current economic and political dynamics through engaging stakeholders. This kind of applying military gymnastics into the economic spheres will not work.

UK Visa & CoS Scam, Harare Man Loses US$12K

By- A Harare man has lost US$ 11,700 to an opaque United Kingdom (UK) visa and certificate of a sponsorship deal.

Samson Gono cited Nyasha Patience Mandeya of Borrowdale as the respondent in his summons.

In the summons through his lawyers Tinashe Zinto of Zinto, Chivandire and Mavhaire Law Chambers, Gono is demanding back his money and 1% interest as from April 1 this year.

According to court papers, sometime in August 2023, Gono and Mandeya entered into an agreement, whereby the latter would assist him to obtain certificates of sponsorship and a UK visa.

It is alleged that Mandeya was supposed to obtain these within three months after receiving payment.

Gono submitted that he paid Mandeya US$9 700 on August 26, 2023. He made another payment of US$2 000 on August 31.

However, Mandeya failed to meet the terms of the agreement.

Yester-Year Soccer Star In Messy Divorce

By Sports Reporter- Former Dynamos star Edward Sadomba has been embroiled in a messy divorce.

The state media reports that Sadomba and his wife Sherlynn’s marriage is falling apart.

Ironically, until H-Metro broke the story about the challenges destroying their marriage yesterday, the two had been hailed as a model celebrity couple in this country.

Such has been the couple’s closeness our sister newspaper, The Sunday Mail, even once described them as being “like coffee and doughnuts, salt and pepper or rum and coke.”

On Tuesday, H-Metro sources tipped us that the couple’s differences involved a nasty fallout between the two, which ended up spilling into the hands of the police.

H-Metro reporters were tipped that the case would be heard at Mbare Magistrates Court.

Sadomba arrived at the court in the company of his lawyer, Charles Warara.

His wife, Sherlyn arrived later.

However, the duo did not appear before a magistrate after the vetting officer decided that there were outstanding statements that were supposed to be recorded from witnesses before the matter was ready to be heard.

Sources said that Sadomba regularly locked out his wife, outside their matrimonial home, on several occasions when she returned home in the evening.

Yesterday, all the speculation ended when it emerged that Sherlynn has actually approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a peace order against the former DeMbare star player.

That is an escalation of the case and appears to suggest that Sadomba could have been a violent husband who was abusing his wife, who is a prosecutor, at the Harare Magistrates Court.

That would be a huge dent on Sadomba who, until now, has been celebrated as one of the best role models in local football.

It has now emerged that although they share the same house, the couple are sleeping in different wings of their house.

Sources have now been open to H-Metro, especially after the application for a peace order, with some revealing that the couple has received counselling, on a number of occasions, at police stations.

The counselling followed reports which Sherlynn filed accusing her husband of being abusive towards her.

“This has been going on for some time now and there were even whispers, when Sherlynn wore a neck brace, that she was injured during a fall at home after she was attacked but that could not be proved,” said a source.

“Now, that this case has spilled into the public domain and she has filed for a protection order from Sadomba, it means there was a hint of some truth to those whispers.

“A woman like Sherlynn will, obviously, weigh the consequences of such a move like filing for a protection order.

“She is a prosecutor and she knows that this will attract media attention and will be uncomfortable to his kids and to her reputation as someone who works with the public.

“But, for her to still make the move, it suggests that she has come to a point where she has said enough is enough and whatever comes will not be worse than the abuse she is suffering.

“It’s sad, when you think about it, because this is a couple that everyone admired and they have been together for a long time.”

Sherlynn revealed to The Herald, that she met Sadomba in 2001.

“I met him in 2001 when I visited my grandmother in Mbare,” she said.

“We dated from that time till we got married in 2008.

“I am absolutely affected by his fame in a good way because he is a people-person and he commands a lot of respect from his supporters and the general community, which consequently comes as a good thing for me.

“In a negative way, our lives are open just like the sky, we are mostly in the public eye. It’s not a good place to be all the time.”

In another interview with The Sunday Mail, she said:

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m a proud wife but sometimes you want to run your own race and have your personal identity – with your own credits and achievements – other than just being someone’s wife or mother.” H Metro

Klopp Irate With Loss At Everton

Jurgen Klopp has blamed the game against Manchester United for his side’s recent loss against Everton in the English Premier League.

The Reds lost 2-0 at Goodson Park to fall back in the title race with just four games left in the campaign.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were on target for the Toffees.

It was Klopp’s first-ever defeat at Goodison Park.

Speaking after the match, Klopp bemoaned his side’s low conversion rate, which started in their game at Old Trafford.

Liverpool had 28 total attempts on goal, with 16 coming in the first half itself, but scored just twice in the 2-2 draw earlier this month.

In Wednesday’s game, they had 23 attempts on goal with seven being on target but failed to score.

The gaffer said: “You can see we are in a rush in front of the goal, you can see that. It’s long ago but I blame a little bit the [Manchester] United game for it; that many chances and you play really good but you don’t get anything for it.

“That’s really bad. Since then, we create but we don’t score often enough and that doesn’t help. It’s not like in a situation like that you don’t score and then just [think], ‘Ah, forget it, who cares?’

“You cannot act like you scored 15 goals in the last two games or whatever. You can see that and that’s a problem. It’s always like this: you have to fight through these periods, it was never different.”

Regional Leaders Absent as Chiwenga Officiates at Zimbabwe International Trade Fair

By A Correspondent

Speculation abounds as reports emerge suggesting that regional leaders may have opted to steer clear of this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) held in Bulawayo.

The absence of prominent figures from neighboring countries has raised eyebrows, especially given the event’s regional significance.

In a surprising turn of events, Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga took the helm to officially inaugurate the trade fair—a departure from established protocol where such events often draw participation from a broader spectrum of regional leaders. The Ministry of Information confirmed the Vice President’s involvement in a statement issued on Wednesday, shedding light on the significance of this year’s ZITF.

According to the Ministry of Information’s statement, Vice President Chiwenga presided over the opening of the ZITF International Business Conference, which convened private sector representatives, international investors, and government officials. The primary objective of the conference was to foster dialogue and strategize on ways to cultivate a favorable business climate in Zimbabwe and beyond.

The absence of regional leaders at this year’s ZITF could be interpreted through various lenses, sparking debates about the diplomatic and economic dynamics at play.

While the exact reasons for the apparent snub remain unclear, the event’s diminished international turnout raises questions about the broader perceptions of Zimbabwe’s economic and political landscape.

Despite the subdued attendance from regional figures, the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair remains a pivotal platform for promoting trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

The theme of this year’s event, #ZITF2024, underscores the commitment to fostering a conducive business environment and revitalizing Zimbabwe’s economy through international partnerships.

The Ministry of Information’s statement highlights the importance of forums like the ZITF in driving economic growth and facilitating cross-border collaboration.

The participation of diverse stakeholders, including government representatives, private sector actors, and foreign investors, underscores the shared commitment to advancing Zimbabwe’s economic agenda.

As the ZITF unfolds in Bulawayo, the spotlight remains on Vice President Chiwenga’s role in spearheading efforts to bolster Zimbabwe’s economic prospects.

His presence at the trade fair signals a concerted effort by the government to attract investment and promote business-friendly policies, despite the absence of certain regional dignitaries.

In the broader context of regional diplomacy and economic integration, the implications of regional leaders’ absence from the ZITF could reverberate across diplomatic circles.

The trade fair serves as a barometer of Zimbabwe’s standing in the global economic arena, offering insights into the country’s efforts to reinvigorate its economy and attract foreign investment.

As the trade fair continues to unfold, observers will closely monitor developments to gauge the impact of regional dynamics on Zimbabwe’s economic outlook.

The absence of regional leaders underscores the complexities of regional diplomacy and economic cooperation, highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing Zimbabwe in its quest for economic revitalization.

Mnangagwa Reinstates Own Friend Winston Chitando as Mines Minister

Scandal Rocks Manicaland Diocese As Reverend Is Arrested for Alleged Gun Threat

In a shocking turn of events, Reverend Danisa Muchichwa, a prominent figure in the Manicaland Diocese and a close confidant of controversial Bishop Eric Ruwona, has been apprehended for allegedly brandishing a firearm at his lover’s husband.

Reports reaching The Midweek Watch indicate that Rev. Muchichwa was confronted by Lovemore Mandimutsira, the husband of Sylvia Dapira, after a tip-off suggesting an illicit rendezvous between the Reverend and Mrs. Dapira at Mutare Sports Club, located opposite the Anglican Diocese offices, on Tuesday morning.

When cornered by Mandimutsira, Rev. Muchichwa purportedly drew a pistol, prompting Mandimutsira to flee in fear for his life, with the Reverend giving chase. Law enforcement officers swiftly intervened, arresting the Reverend just outside the Sports Club. He is currently in police custody.

This is not the first time Rev. Muchichwa’s name has been linked to controversy involving Mrs. Dapira. Sources reveal that three years ago, he was caught in a compromising situation with the same woman by her husband. Allegedly, Bishop Ruwona intervened, and a hefty sum of US$10,000 was paid to keep the matter under wraps, as the Church was then grappling with negative publicity due to corruption allegations.

The timing of this scandal couldn’t be worse for the Anglican Church, which has recently been embroiled in a fees dispute that led to protests at one of its premier schools in the province, St. Faith, spearheaded by its students.

Chamisa Responds to Chiwenga’s Goat Herder Insult: “It’s Game On”

By A Correspondent

In a fiery exchange of words, Zimbabwe’s opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has hit back at Vice President Constantino Chiwenga following a direct attack on his character.

Chiwenga, known for his outspoken nature, described Chamisa as nothing more than a “goat herder” during a public address on Monday.

The Vice President’s remarks came amidst escalating political tensions in the country, with Chiwenga aligning himself with the ruling ZANU-PF party and Chamisa leading the opposition movement. Despite the intended insult, Chamisa responded defiantly, drawing a parallel to the biblical tale of David and Goliath.

In his response, Advocate Chamisa emphasized the significance of the biblical story, implying that just like David—a shepherd and the underdog—overcame the giant Goliath, he too would prevail against his critics and adversaries. Chamisa’s response was framed with confidence and a touch of defiance, evident in his statement: “IT’S GAME ON…

Do you know that the giant Goliath was defeated by David the goat herder and a mere shepherd?? #Godisinit”

This metaphorical reference underscores Chamisa’s determination to challenge the status quo and challenge the ruling establishment. By invoking this biblical narrative, Chamisa aims to rally his supporters and portray himself as an underdog fighting against a powerful adversary.

His use of the hashtag #Godisinit further suggests a reliance on divine intervention or providence in his political struggle.

The spat between Chamisa and Chiwenga underscores the intense political climate in Zimbabwe, where verbal exchanges often serve as a battleground for ideological clashes and power struggles. As both sides engage in verbal warfare, the political landscape remains fraught with tension and uncertainty.

Chamisa’s response to Chiwenga’s insult is not only a defense of his own character but also a strategic move to galvanize his base and assert his leadership in the face of adversity.

The invocation of biblical symbolism adds depth and resonance to his message, resonating with a population deeply rooted in religious beliefs and traditions.

The outcome of this verbal confrontation remains to be seen, but Chamisa’s defiant stance signals that he is prepared to confront his adversaries head-on.

In the arena of Zimbabwean politics, where rhetoric plays a pivotal role, this exchange underscores the high stakes and fierce competition for power.

For now, Advocate Chamisa’s response stands as a testament to his resilience and determination in the face of political opposition, as he continues to navigate the turbulent waters of Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Chiwenga Fires Warning Shots At ZiG Rejecters

Chris Oyakhilome Accused Of Pushing False Information Against Malaria Vaccine

A prominent Nigerian pastor, Chris Oyakhilome has been accused of pushing false information against malaria vaccines.

The pastor claimed Gates was among “those who have an agenda for depopulation of the world”.

While giving a talk on reducing carbon dioxide emissions, Mr Gates said: “First, we’ve got population. The world today has 6.8 billion people. That’s headed up to about nine billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by, perhaps, 10 or 15%.”

Bill Gates’ assertion was said to have been misunderstood by Pastor Oyakhilome and this made him mislead his large followers.

Mr Gates did not advocate for the world’s depopulation, according to the BBC.

Gates has clarified in the past that he saw population growth and health improvement as complementary: “When health improves, families choose to have less kids.”

Mr Oyakhilome also claimed that the World Mosquito Program facility in Colombia belonged to the Gates Foundation, accusing it of producing genetically modified mosquitoes as a strategy for depopulation.

The mosquito factory, which was designed to diminish mosquitoes’ ability to transmit viruses, is part of a non-profit network of firms owned by Monash University in Australia, and it has stated that its process does not use genetically modified organisms.

Pastor Oyakhilome is no stranger to anti-vaccination misinformation. He has recently targeted the HPV vaccine, which is designed to prevent women from cervical cancer.

“They have something else up their sleeve. It’s not about cancer,” he said during a service aired on 2 September 2023.

Nigeria launched a widespread immunisation campaign for girls in October 2023 in an effort to dramatically lower cervical cancer rates. Every year, about 8,000 Nigerian women die as a result of this disease.

In 2021, a major study financed by Cancer Research UK discovered that the HPV vaccine reduced cervical cancer cases by over 90 percent. Pastor Oyakhilome has already made numerous erroneous assertions regarding anti-tetanus shots, polio vaccines, and other paediatric immunisations.

The report said the pastor also falsely stated that the messenger RNA vaccine alters the DNA.

However, immunization does not affect people’s DNA. It takes a portion of a virus’s genetic material, or messenger RNA, to train the immune system to detect it and manufacture antibodies.

During the Covid pandemic, British media regulator Ofcom fined Pastor Oyakhilome’s congregation £125,000 ($155,000).

It said his network Loveworld, broadcast in the UK, showed “misleading and potentially harmful statements about the coronavirus pandemic and vaccines”.

Mr Ogunro, the writer who left the church, said he was worried about the pastor’s influence.

“His claims about vaccination scare me. We need to find a way to regulate preachers like him.”

Ex-Boyfriend Turns The Heat On Mai Titi’s Daughter Fifi

By A Correspondent| 19-year-old Amir Mhaka who is accused of leaking socialite Mai Titi’s daughter, Fifi’s, nude pictures has written to the police calling for further investigations after the emergence of new information.

In a letter to police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga, Mhaka through his lawyer Admire Rubaya says “he is not modern day Jesus” who can be crucified for sins he has not committed and the police should get to the bottom of the issue and unearth the real culprit.

He is of the firm belief that if the matter is properly investigated, the National Prosecuting Authority will reconsider its decision to prosecute him and free him as the truth would have been laid bare.

They argue that Fifi should be the first suspect as there are several factors pointing to her which requires intensive investigations.

Mhaka has denied receiving the nude images or distributing them and has submitted his cellphone to the police for cyber examination to prove his innocence.

In the letter, he says the girl should also submit her cellphone to the police’s cyber unit for investigation.

He said Fifi’s cellphone will answer all the contentious questions including whom she sent the images to and that it will be established if ever she sent them to him.

“He (Mhaka) further asserts that instead of just examining his mobile handset only, the Police Cyber experts should also examine the Complainant’s mobile phone to ascertain if there is any trace of evidence that she once sent those alleged leaked photos to the Accused person.

“Our client is of the firm view that there are people who might have accessed the Complainant’s nude pictures and not him

They also told the Commissioner General that several bloggers online have claimed that the teenage girl has an OnlyFans account, a platform through which intimate content is on a pay per view basis.

This, they said, requires further investigations by the police to establish if the claims are true or not.

They argue that if this is anything to go by then someone could have accessed the images on the platform and distributed them and not Mhaka.

They argue that the girl might have posted the pictures for clout purposes and this needs investigation.

“There is also a possibility of the Complainant herself publishing her own nude pictures for some other reasons
which might include for popularity purposes. These are probable possibilities that should be investigated.”

“It has also come to our client’s attention that there are bloggers who have claimed that the Complainant had subscribed to a pornographic site known as Onlyfans wherein alleged content creators upload their content to the site and their fans follow them for a fee.

“lf it is true that she was one of the content creators on that pornographic site there is a real possibility that that’s where her nude pictures might have been extracted by
some of her followers resulting in the leakage. We humbly implore and entrust you to consider this possibility in your investigations.”

They also indicated to the police chief that when Mhaka was arrested, Mai Titi, the complainant’s mother accused one Patricia Jeke or Patricia Jack who leaked the pictures and this is contained in her witness statement before the court.

Mr Rubaya argued that this creates doubt and opens room for more investigation as it has been shown that even the complainants are not sure who leaked the pictures.

“The complainant’s mother has a statement which was recorded by the police wherein she is alleging that the same nude pictures in question were broadcasted/distributed
by one Patricia Jeke alias Patricia Jack.

“The obvious question that arises therefore is who is responsible for the leak of those images?

“From a neutral person’s perspective, it would obviously appear that the complainant and her mother may be casting lots as to who to blame for those nude pictures, despite seemingly clear circumstances that the complainant herself may only have herself to blame for taking those pornographic pictures in the first place.

“ln the circumstances one wonders who is to be believed between Felistas Murata[mai Titil] or Felisha Muzeya[fifi] because their versions are material different as to who allegedly distributed the nudes in issue,” the letter reads.

Installing 1xBet – how to do it on different systems

To improve the comfort for its customers, the bookmaker 1xBet has developed an application that synchronises with the site and can provide users with a comfortable game. Since the modern world is rich in different platforms and systems, some users have difficulties with installation. In this article we will consider how to download 1xbet on your device and what are the differences between the versions.

Features of both versions of the application

The program from 1xBet can be installed on both Android and IOS. These versions differ in some features. However, it is only a matter of customisation. Functional and visual elements remain virtually identical, despite minor differences that do not affect the use.

Let’s start with Android. Firstly, this platform offers the creation of open source apps. That is why Play Market does not allow the placement on its pages of programs for playing for real money.

If we talk about the second system, things are better here. It is impossible to put apps from unknown sources on the iPhone. Therefore, absolutely all programs, including 1xBet, are placed in the official shop.

How to install on IOS

As mentioned earlier, apps on this system have a hidden source code, so the platform is placed in the App Store. To perform the installation, the client needs to go to the brand page in this service. To do this, you can perform an independent search by entering the name of the brand in the search, or on the bookmaker’s website click on the system icon. After that the user will be redirected to the page of the application.

All that remains is to click on the ‘Install’ button and wait for the process to complete. After completing all actions, it remains only to log in to your profile and perform customisation for yourself.

How to set up on Android

Installation for this system is carried out by downloading a special file. It can be downloaded from the bookmaker’s website. The file is absolutely safe to download and has no viruses.

To install, you need to click on the file and confirm the unpacking. Next, you need to wait for the action to be performed. In some cases, you will need to confirm certain consents.

In a startling development, Tendai Mandihlare, a quantity surveyor at Chitungwiza Municipality, has been fined a mere US$300 after being found guilty of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme that resulted in his employer paying a company $1.1 million. Mandihlare’s actions, described by authorities as a flagrant abuse of trust, have sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the grave consequences of fraud within public institutions.

Speaking after the verdict, Prosecutor Mr. Ephraim Zinyandu expressed concern over the leniency of the sentence, stating, “The magnitude of Mandihlare’s deception cannot be overstated. His deliberate manipulation of documents led to substantial financial losses for the municipality, a betrayal of public trust that cannot be taken lightly.”

Echoing these sentiments, Chamber Secretary for Chitungwiza Municipality, Mr. Japson Nemusesu, lamented the impact of the fraud on the community, stating, “The diverted funds could have been allocated to critical infrastructure projects, benefiting the residents of Chitungwiza. Mandihlare’s actions have undermined the integrity of our institution and eroded public confidence.”

The case has reignited calls for stricter oversight and accountability measures within public institutions, with civil society groups urging authorities to implement comprehensive reforms to prevent similar incidents in the future. As investigations continue, there is growing pressure on law enforcement agencies to pursue all avenues of justice and ensure that those responsible for financial misconduct are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.- Agencies

Mnangagwa Bribes Sugarcane Farmers

The upcoming distribution of 75 tractors to sugarcane farmers in Masvingo Province by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has stirred both anticipation and skepticism within Zimbabwe’s agricultural community.

The initiative, reportedly aimed at boosting productivity and supporting farmers, has raised questions about the government’s intentions amidst ongoing economic challenges.

A government source revealed that these tractors, to be distributed by Masvingo’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, will be made available at zero deposit through a microfinance bank. Furthermore, farmers will begin payments only after utilizing the tractors for five years.

The announcement has been met with mixed reactions from various stakeholders.

While some farmers welcome the opportunity to access modern farming equipment with deferred payment plans, others remain cautious about potential underlying motives behind such largesse.

In response to inquiries about the initiative, Minister Chadzamira emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting local farmers and enhancing agricultural output.

“The distribution of these tractors underscores President Mnangagwa’s vision of empowering our farmers and revitalizing the agricultural sector in Masvingo Province,” Chadzamira stated during a recent press briefing.

However, critics view this move as a strategic attempt by Mnangagwa’s administration to gain favor ahead of the upcoming elections, scheduled for later this year.

With Zimbabwe grappling with food insecurity and economic hardships, the timing of such gestures has prompted speculation about political agendas.

One concerned farmer, who requested anonymity, expressed skepticism about the sustainability of the tractor distribution program.

“While the offer of tractors is enticing, we worry about the long-term implications and whether this is merely a temporary solution to appease farmers,” the farmer remarked.

This sentiment is echoed by opposition figures and civil society organizations, who argue that meaningful agricultural reform requires comprehensive policies addressing broader issues such as land tenure, market access, and input subsidies.

As Masvingo prepares for the tractor handover ceremony, scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, the spotlight remains on the effectiveness and transparency of government initiatives aimed at supporting Zimbabwe’s struggling agricultural sector.

The outcome of this initiative could potentially influence public perception of Mnangagwa’s administration and its commitment to addressing pressing socio-economic challenges facing the nation.

Mnangagwa In Plot To Postpone Polls

By A Correspondent

In a recent Daily News report, it is claimed that ZANU-PF and CCC leaders, including Interim President Welshman Ncube, are cooperating to postpone the 2028 elections.

ZANU spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa mentioned that the CCC has proposed a consensus-based government, focusing on national development over elections.

Despite President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s firm denial of any desire to extend his rule beyond 2028, the report suggests otherwise, hinting at a possible bid to prolong his tenure through alternative means.

A significant portion of Zimbabweans opposes ZANU, and any perception of constitutional manipulation to favor the ruling elite and a compromised opposition is likely to face public disapproval.

The success of these alleged ZANU and ‘controlled’ opposition strategies remains uncertain, but it’s evident that many Zimbabweans will view such maneuvers unfavorably.

Two EPL Players Arrested Over Rape Allegations

Two Premier League players from the same team were reportedly arrested over an alleged rape.

According to The Sun, one arrest took place outside the stadium over the weekend.

The player, who’s aged 19, was said to have been detained overnight.

The other player, who is also 19, was reportedly arrested the following day and was questioned by police after being detained on suspicion of rape.

Both players have reportedly now been released on bail pending further enquiries, the newspaper claimed.

The report also adds that the alleged rape took place on Friday night and the alleged victim contacted officers hours later before filing a formal complaint.

It is not known whether the club has suspended their two players, but a spokesman for the unnamed team has said: “As the matter is now in the hands of the police, the football club will not be making further comment at this stage.

Zanu PF Reduces Dancing Woman To S*x Object : Watch

By A Correspondent

The recent Independence Day celebrations in Murambinda Growth Point took an unexpected turn as a video of a Zanu PF lady twerking at the event has ignited a flurry of reactions on social media.

The footage captures the woman, identified as a recipient of a Toyota Aqua from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, engaging in what some have described as provocative dance moves.

The scene has undoubtedly raised eyebrows and triggered debates about the appropriateness of such behavior, particularly in the context of a national celebration.

Social media platforms have been buzzing with commentary, with opinions divided on whether the incident represents harmless fun or crosses the line into inappropriate conduct, especially given the visibility of the individual involved.

The woman’s association with Wicknell Chivayo, known for his controversial public persona, adds another layer of complexity to the situation.

Chivayo, a polarizing figure due to his legal troubles and flashy lifestyle, has drawn scrutiny for his connections to prominent individuals, including political figures.

Critics argue that public displays of this nature, particularly by individuals linked to influential personalities, reflect poorly on the image of public figures and the standards of conduct expected in public spaces.

Supporters, on the other hand, emphasize personal freedom and the right to express oneself without undue judgment.

The broader discourse surrounding the incident touches on societal norms, gender roles, and the responsibilities of individuals representing political affiliations.

While some view the incident as a personal choice and an expression of celebration, others contend that such actions can undermine the dignity and seriousness of official events.

Independence Day, a significant national occasion commemorating Zimbabwe’s liberation, traditionally serves as a platform for reflection and unity.

However, incidents like this underscore the evolving nature of public behavior in an era dominated by social media scrutiny and instant sharing of content.

The controversy highlights broader questions about the intersection of personal conduct, public representation, and the expectations placed on individuals associated with prominent public figures.

As discussions continue to unfold, it remains to be seen how this incident will influence perceptions of public behavior and the responsibilities of those in the public eye.

In the age of digital media, where moments can be captured and shared instantaneously, incidents like this serve as a reminder of the complex dynamics at play in the intersection of politics, social norms, and personal expression.

As debates persist, the incident at Murambinda Growth Point will likely prompt further reflection on the boundaries of acceptable behavior and the impact of public actions on broader societal values.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Exposed By Ex Wife

By Religion Reporter | Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is still to comment over allegations cited of his wife following his divorce.

Oyakhilome who is the GoldMafia implicated Uebert Angel’s associate, runs the church called Christ Embassy and a television channel called Loveworld.

When he was exposed over his divorce, Oyakhilome announced on video saying he is immune to sin. He preached to his followers saying they should disregard media revelations that he was divorcing, while saying a man of God cannot sin, verbatim.

This time his wife is cited in a UK journalist’s journal accusing the man of being “non-straight”

The statements are part of heavy pile of allegations that may explain what has been transpiring inside the man of the cloth’s private life during his pursuits in which he pulls Christians to regularly examine his conduct. The divorce filing is reference number, FD14D01650, filed on 9 April 2014 at divorce section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK.

The basis of the divorce is printed as “unreasonable behaviour and inappropriate relationships with members of staff.”

The divorce was granted on these grounds, ZimEye reveals.

Oyakhilome has gone on for 10 years without commenting and his public statement has been that he, as a man of God cannot sin.

In a televised video re-broadcast, Pastor Chris, as he is fondly called, said people who are “men of God” do not commit sin because they have been sovereignly “set on course by God.”

chris
He responded saying, “I understand there are some media houses particularly in Nigeria and maybe in South Africa.
“There are many of them who have been writing stupid things, very stupid things, frivolous charges. That’s crazy.

“A man of God, you will have to understand something about a man of God. A man of God is not just someone who worships God, or who preaches God. A man of God is handpicked by God, set on course by God.
“If you study the scriptures you will not find [any] man of God going against God, sinning against God. The only things you might find, will be maybe a man of God, one – Moses for example, when he struck the rock twice, provoked by the anger of the people not because he wanted to do something against the Lord.
“No man of God does something against the Lord, no. A man of God is set on course; there is a type of life that he is given.”

Meanwhile, the London journalist, Brilliant Pongo posts of the development in a poem saying-

‘Truth can irritate
Truth can upset
But truth still needs to be told
Threats and all sorts of fire conjured from deepest pits of hell will be spoken towards you
But only those uncomfortable with truth will catch feelings.
A lie can be ignored…
Chris has a dude, I repeat ? Anita left only to be replaced by a married dude.
That’s his choice not a crime Yes,
How do I know, the one that left told me…
Those catching feelings sue me…I am only sharing the untold stories no time to argue…
Ps/ they do kinda look alike (each to their own but at least tell the church the truth) ‘

RBZ Governor Struggles To Defend The Useless ZiG

By Business Reporter- Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor John Mushayavanhu has admitted that the new ZiG currency can not buy fuel and said that the central bank is still negotiating with suppliers to accept it.

Mushayavanhu appeared before the Joint Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Investment Promotion, and Industry and Commerce to respond to questions on the recently announced Monetary Policy Statement (MPS). He said:

We are still negotiating and considering how we can best allow the selling of fuel in ZiG.

We start on taxes to be paid in ZiG, and include other commodities and people are going to be advised.

We need to do our work gradually and we are going to reach that situation where[by] fuel is going to be sold in ZiG.

Some of the committee members asked why fuel was being sold exclusively in US dollars when most people, especially civil servants had a salary component in ZiG. Mushayavanhu responded:

Currently, we are at 85% of transactions in USD while 15% are ZiG. We will not be able to get enough ZiG if we sell fuel in the new currency.

We have US$80 million worth of ZiG in circulation on the market. In June, the country will need US$150 million worth of ZiG, hence the public must keep their ZiG…

When you get ZiG, keep it tight. By June this year, the ZiG will be hard to get. It will be very expensive. Muchaitsvaga nemaziso matsvuku.

He also emphasized that the central bank will not print money not backed by reserves. He said:

No money printing in future by RBZ. Any future increase will be done by increased production, and inflation variations whilst the circulation amount will be less than the reserves amount.

We will introduce money as when the economy demands. These variables are monitored daily to see the money in reserves, in circulation. I get this information every day.

Mushayavanhu launched ZiG on 05 April 2024, but notes and coins will start circulating on April 30, 2024.

The exchange rate is already at ZiG20 to US$1 on the parallel market as compared to ZIG13.6 to US$1 set by the RBZ.

FAZ Agent Caught Using Chamisa’s Face

By TheZimbabweSentinel -An Independent candidate for the Mount Pleasant constituency in this weekend’s by-elections, Brian Ticky has denied claims of working with the Zanu PF-sponsored CIO grouping Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (FAC).

He is accused of using former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa’s face on his campaign billboards and posters.

Tshabangu Pushes For 2028 Polls Delay

By Political Reporter- Rebel CCC member and self-imposed party secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu is pushing for the postponement of the 2028 general elections.

According to a statement posted on CCC’s social media pages, which are reportedly run by Promise Mkwananzi, who was appointed spokesperson by former party leader Nelson Chamisa in 2023, the opposition party is against the postponement of elections.

It accused the other faction, led by Welshman Ncube and Sengezo Tshabangu, of working with ZANU PF to subvert the will of the people.

Read the statement in part:

The CCC would like to distance itself from the remarks attributed to the Ncube-Tshabangu group who obviously have been working with ZANU PF to give them a 2/3 majority to facilitate a third term by amending the constitution to force the postponement of elections in Zimbabwe. The CCC position is that the August 2023 elections were flawed and as such the outcome illegitimate.

This is the issue that needs to be resolved for the country to move forward. Zimbabwe needs to exorcise the ghost of disputed elections and end the cycle of disputed electoral outcomes, and that can only be achieved by dealing with the environmental issues through Electoral and political reforms leading to a fresh election. With political will, Electoral and political reforms can be concluded within 6 months from today.

The Jameson Timba-led faction also rejected plans by the Government to amend the constitution which will result in the transfer of voter registration responsibilities from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to the Civil Registry Department. It said:

The CCC position is that ZEC must continue to manage the voters’ roll including registration of voters. What the party has advocated for is the automatic registration of voters when they turn 18 by electronically and seamlessly linking the voters roll to the Civil registry database and not the transfer of the registration function to the Registrar General.

Last month, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi told The Sunday Mail that the government is considering constitutional changes that would also result in an independent commission taking over delimitation duties from ZEC.

New Twist In Fifi’s Leaked Nudes Case As Fresh Details Emerge

“He (Mhaka) further asserts that instead of just examining his mobile handset only, the Police Cyber experts should also examine
the Complainant’s mobile phone to ascertain if there is any trace of evidence that she once sent those alleged leaked
photos to the Accused person.

“Our client is of the firm view that there are people who might
have accessed the Complainant’s nude pictures and not him

“It has also come to our client’s attention that there are bloggers who have claimed that the Complainant had subscribed to a
pornographic site known as Onlyfans wherein alleged content creators upload their content to the site and their fans follow them for a fee.

“lf it is true that she was one of the content
creators on that pornographic site there is a real possibility that that’s where her nude pictures might have been extracted by
some of her followers resulting in the leakage.

“From a neutral person’s perspective, it would obviously appear that the complainant and her mother may be casting lots as to who to blame for those
nude pictures, despite seemingly clear circumstances that the complainant herself may only have herself to blame for taking
those pornographic pictures in the
first place.

“ln the circumstances one wonders who is to be believed between Felistas Murata[mai Titil] or Felisha Muzeya[fifi] because their
versions are material different as to who allegedly distributed the nudes in issue,” the letter reads.

Chamisa Ally Arrested Over 2023 Election Incident

By Political Reporter- Tinei Mapepa, a prominent member of the opposition and former Mwenezi District Organizer for the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC), led by Nelson Chamisa, has been apprehended.

Mapepa was summoned to appear at the Masvingo Magistrate Courts regarding the Rutenga political upheaval that unfolded last year during the lead-up to the harmonized elections.

The altercation occurred when Chamisa’s supporters clashed with law enforcement on July 23, 2023, at Rutenga, prompting the police to employ teargas canisters to disperse the awaiting CCC supporters.

According to the summons obtained by TellZim News, Mapepa, who was organizing the Rutenga CCC rally at the time, was required to appear at the Masvingo Magistrates Court on April 22 to respond to allegations of incitement.

“You are required to summon Tinei Mapepa of No. 67 Muzhanje Ranch, Mwenezi cell to appear personally before this court at Masvingo Magistrates court on the 22nd day of April 2024 at 0800hrs to answer to allegations raised on the charge of Incitement as defined in the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act CH9.23,” reads the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) summons.

In an interview, Mapepa, who now backs the Blue Movement allegedly led by Chamisa, denied any wrongdoing, attributing the accusations to an attempt to intimidate rural communities that challenge Zanu PF.

“As President Chamisa’s supporters, we committed no offense on the day in question and everything we did was within the confines of the law. The whole idea behind these arrests is to instil fear and silence those who do not hesitate to point out Zanu PF’s failure in remote areas like ours,” said Mapepa.

Following a delay in Chamisa’s arrival at the Rutenga Growth Point Rally venue, police instructed CCC supporters to disperse. However, the crowd remained steadfast, insisting on waiting for their leader.

This led to clashes between riot police and CCC supporters, with police resorting to teargas and warning shots, while some supporters retaliated by throwing stones.

Chamisa eventually arrived at the growth point later in the evening to find his supporters still waiting, despite earlier teargas dispersal. He briefly addressed them before continuing to Ngundu Growth Point, where further clashes ensued between CCC supporters and law enforcement personnel who attempted to disperse them with teargas canisters. – Source: TellZimNews
