In a recent Daily News report, it is claimed that ZANU-PF and CCC leaders, including Interim President Welshman Ncube, are cooperating to postpone the 2028 elections.

A Zimbabwe student, named Bathabile Meshia, has died in Poland, with the family launching a request for public assistance for repatriation of her body.

Meshia, who was 22, at Lublin public hospital after a short illness.

She was in her first semester at Vincent Pol University in Lublin where she enrolled for a Cycle Masters Studies in Physiotherapy.

Her programme was set to end 31 March 2029.

Meshia’s parents, according to her maternal aunt Thokozani Mguni who has launched a GoFundMe request, are both in Zimbabwe and “are devastated by the passing of their daughter”.

“They cannot afford the repatriation expenses, therefore appealing to the public to find it in their hearts to assist raise the funds,” Mguni said.

Her post-mortem, according to family, showed she succumbed to an undisclosed cancer in the stomach.

Those who knew her say Bathabile was a young, quiet and introverted, and most people did not know her.

Her family had invested all their savings paying for her University studies and cannot afford to repatriate her body.

Other students are trying to help by arranging and getting all paperwork to her family in Zimbabwe.

THE scourge of drug and substance abuse has become a thorn in the flesh in the fight against HIV and AIDS, as users are devising new ways of administering drugs into their system.

The continued use of drugs and substance abuse especially among adolescents, is reversing the strides that have been made by the country in tackling HIV and AIDS.

This comes amid revelations that a new phenomenon known as hotspotting or bluetoothing is rocking the streets of Zimbabwe as drug users are finding innovative ways of administering drugs into their bodies.

“Young people are finding new ways to administer drugs in their bodies. The latest one is injecting untested blood of a career that is high on drugs into their own system. Some go to the extent of sharing the same needle, hence while we are fighting drug abuse, we are now faced with the fight against drug and substance abuse as well,” said Dr Loveness Ndebele a psychiatrist.

Tendai Daka from Mubatirwapamwe says although injecting ones drug infused blood into another drug user is a fairly new phenomenon, it has become popular among people with limited means, looking for a quick fix.

The accident involved a BMW X5 vehicle that was carrying five passengers.

According to reports, the vehicle veered off the road suddenly, heading towards the left side, before overturning and ultimately coming to rest back on its wheels.

The consequences of this tragic event were severe.

Two individuals lost their lives in the accident, and their bodies were transferred to the Marondera Hospital mortuary to undergo post-mortem examinations.

Meanwhile, the four survivors sustained injuries and were immediately transported to Marondera Hospital for treatment.

They are currently admitted and receiving medical care.

The news of this incident has sent shockwaves through the community.

By Crime and Courts Reporter- A Domboshava man has set his wife on fire after they had a dispute over the division of marital property.

Ashely Kabaya is facing murder charges after Spiwe Jenyure died from injuries sustained in the attack.

The court heard that the incident took place on April 15 when the couple decided to share their property as they finalised their divorce.

Kabaya locked the door from the inside and attacked Jenyure with a golf stick.

He proceeded to soak her body with a mixture of cobra venom and paraffin before setting her on fire.

As the flames overwhelmed Jenyure, she fought back, grabbing Kabaya in the process.

He suffered severe injuries and is currently in hospital.

The wife cried for help and a passerby heard the noise, smashed the door open and tried to extinguish the fire with assistance from other community members, who had gathered at the scene.

Both victims were immediately rushed to Makumbe Hospital in Domboshava and, due to the severity of their burns, they were both transferred to Parirenyatwa for specialised care.

Spiwe died last Wednesday at Parirenyatwa.

By A Correspondent| The late constitutional law expert Dr Alex Magaisa’s young brother Benji has died barely two years after the pro-opposition movement was thrown into mourning following the death of the Big Saturday Read (BSR) writer breathed his last in the United Kingdom.

This was announced by late Alex Magaisa’s sister, Essy who expressed sadness that Alex and Benji had died one after the other.

“Nguva yakaoma pasi pano. Masarudza kuteedzana henyu. Benji wandirwadzisa Wangu.Vakanaka havararame chokwadi,” wrote Essy Magaisa.

Benjamin Magaisa was born in 1991 and was the youngest member in Alex and Essy’s family.

Before his death, Alex Magaisa once praised Benji for renovating their family home in Wedza.

Details of Benji’s death are not yet known but he was working in the United Kingdom.

SUSPECTED armed robber, James Moyo, is battling for his life at the United Bulawayo Hospitals after he was involved in a shootout with the police on Saturday.
In a statement released by the ZRP this Sunday, the shooting incident follows the arrest of Moyo as well as Tinashe Dembure (29) and Mthulisi Maphosa (29) for robbery at Gunya Shopping Centre, Mahatshula North, Bulawayo on 20th April in the afternoon.

The police further states that upon arrest, Moyo dropped a machete and tried to disarm a police officer who was armed with a pistol loaded with six rounds.

The police confirms that Moyo was subsequently shot on the stomach by police officers and was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment.

Meanwhile, the ZRP has warned would be offenders and criminals that any form of confrontation with police officers will be met with appropriate response.

65 suspected illegal money changers appeared in court on Saturday on allegations of contravening the exchange control regulations.

The net is closing in on economic saboteurs after government launched the Exchange Control Operation targeting illegal money changers.

The Exchange Control Operation is a joint operation between the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s financial intelligence unit which was launched last week.

The operation has since netted 65 suspects in the streets of Harare and these appeared at Harare magistrates’ court on Saturday.

The suspects were remanded in custody to this Monday for bail applications.

SUSPECTED armed robber, James Moyo, is battling for his life at the United Bulawayo Hospitals after he was involved in a shootout with the police on Saturday.
In a statement released by the ZRP this Sunday, the shooting incident follows the arrest of Moyo as well as Tinashe Dembure (29) and Mthulisi Maphosa (29) for robbery at Gunya Shopping Centre, Mahatshula North, Bulawayo on 20th April in the afternoon.

The police further states that upon arrest, Moyo dropped a machete and tried to disarm a police officer who was armed with a pistol loaded with six rounds.

The police confirms that Moyo was subsequently shot on the stomach by police officers and was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment.

65 suspected illegal money changers appeared in court on Saturday on allegations of contravening the exchange control regulations.

The net is closing in on economic saboteurs after government launched the Exchange Control Operation targeting illegal money changers.

The Exchange Control Operation is a joint operation between the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s financial intelligence unit which was launched last week.

The operation has since netted 65 suspects in the streets of Harare and these appeared at Harare magistrates’ court on Saturday.

The suspects were remanded in custody to this Monday for bail applications.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa accompanied by Vice President General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga has paid condolences to the Director General in the President’s Department, Ambassador Isaac Moyo and his family, following the death of their daughter Shumirai on the 3rd of this month.

Shumirai, who was based in Dublin, Ireland was a political activist and was also the founder of Youth Business League Zimbabwe.

The late will be laid to rest in Rutenga on Sunday.

She died at the age of 41 and is survived by two sons, Munyaradzi and Derrick.

IN a script that sounds stranger than fiction, over 100 graves have been vandalised at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare.

Whether ritual or criminal, the motivation behind this heinous act remains a mystery.

Margaret and Grace Chishawa are coming from the grave site to check on their parent’s final resting place after news filtered through on the goings on at Warren Hills cemetery in Harare.

“We are living in fear, what sort of human being can do this? Surely this is an act of Satanism,” said Margaret.

Grace added, “We are still in shock, everything that has happened is still very unbelievable.”

Acting on the grapevine, many rushed to the cemetery this Friday and as if to reassure their loved ones, they braved the scorching heat to spend the day seemingly playing the protection role for the departed.

“We are still fearful if these criminals will not come back and destroy more graves. We only hope that the long arm of the law will catch up with the criminals so that they can be punished,” said a family member, Mrs Maggie Machila.

“We do not know if this grave will survive, I am currently in a dilemma of what will happen tonight,” said one of the family members.

Graves are not the only victims of this vile act, as nearby businesses also suffered the evil hand overnight.

Florist, Mr Tazvigarira Karidza said, “I run a flower business and I woke up to find that most of my products had just disappeared only to find them recklessly disposed in a nearby bush. I can’t imagine what could have influenced this kind of attack because it happened the same night the graves were destroyed.”
