Five people have died after a commuter omnibus was involved in a head-on collision with a haulage truck along Donnybrook Road in Mabvuku, Harare, this Tuesday evening.

The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has paid tribute to the late President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mnangagwa said:

The Harare Magistrates’ Court has ordered Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Commander Lieutenant General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe and Minister of Defence Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri to pay US$29,000 in compensation to Felix Mafondokoto, a victim of the 2019 shutdown protests. Mafondokoto, who was shot and severely injured by a soldier during the demonstrations in Chitungwiza, had initially sought US$49,000 for his injuries and suffering.

The 2019 shutdown protests, triggered by soaring fuel prices and deteriorating living conditions, saw widespread violence and the deployment of military forces across Zimbabwe.
