So ,today I have had phone calls and text messages ,with people inquiring about Junior Bunjira’s fitness after that brutal 2 footed tackle from behind by Shadreck Nyahwa .Junior has a bruised swollen ankle and is in pain .The CAPS United doctors are monitoring the injury.
I am not sure how and why Nyahwa didn’t get a straight red card and an expulsion after that cruel bone crashing tackle from behind. That is a straight red offense. I don’t know if I should say “Fortunately ” because there was nothing fortunate about that tackle…but Fortunately the tackle didn’t break Junior’s legs .
My intestines moved in horror when I saw that cruel tackle.I have to be honest ,that I don’t know what I would do ,if he had broken Junior’s leg .But all I know is that I would have possibly jumped onto the pitch to retaliate. .
Hapana sportsmanship yakadaro when one player is intentionally breaking someone else’s legs. Injuries anowanikwa ,and that is football.
I played football and I know all about that, But when someone is intentionally trying to break another player’s leg,it ceases to be sportsmanshipand just a game of football.I don’t think I would be a sportsman if he had broken the kid’s legs
I think referees should be on the look out for evil tackles like that on the field and footballers with that kind of actions should expelled. That is not football.Talent should be protected and brutals weeded out .Not because Junior is my son.
BUT I am speaking for all victims of such brotality….as I wish Junior a speedy recovery .I hope Nyahwa apologized
By A Correspondent Controversial Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim Secretary General, Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, has sparked a heated debate by calling for the immediate arrest of prominent opposition figure Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala. The demand follows Sikhala’s outspoken criticism of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration for alleged human rights violations.
Sikhala recently condemned the Zimbabwean government at the United Nations Geneva Human Rights and Democracy summit, drawing international attention to the country’s political climate.
His remarks have elicited a fierce response from Tshabangu, who expressed his frustration with Sikhala’s actions.
“Yes, I mean it, legal action must be taken against him,” Tshabangu asserted angrily.
“I didn’t advocate for his release for what he’s doing. This is totally absurd. The struggle we’re in, for the period from 2023-2028, is that of development, not politics.
Anyone who wishes our country bad must be severely charged.”
Tshabangu’s statements highlight a significant rift within Zimbabwe’s political opposition, as well as the broader challenges of balancing advocacy for development with the protection of human rights and political dissent.
Sikhala, known for his vocal opposition to the Mnangagwa administration, has been a polarizing figure, garnering both support and criticism for his relentless pursuit of governmental accountability.
The call for Sikhala’s arrest has intensified the already volatile political landscape in Zimbabwe, raising questions about the future of free speech and political activism in the country.
Tshabangu’s position reflects a segment of the opposition that prioritizes development over political confrontation, but it also underscores the deep divisions and contentious atmosphere that characterize Zimbabwean politics today.
As the debate unfolds, the international community and local observers alike will be closely watching the actions of the Zimbabwean government and the response from various political factions.
The situation remains tense, with the potential for significant implications for the country’s political trajectory and its commitment to human rights.
Greatman’s fixing the country one great talk after another?
By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Rising Above Limitations: The Inspiring Perspective of Greatman Gwaze
In a world where individuals with disabilities often face discrimination and challenges that go beyond the physical, the words of Zimbabwean musician Greatman Gwaze on Tuesday resonate with a powerful and uplifting message.
Gwaze, a celebrated artist who himself has faced life with a disability, shared a profound statement: if God discriminated against those with disabilities, He would have deprived them of their core organ of procreation, referred to affectionately in his statement as “the Sikarudzi.” This bold assertion not only challenges societal views but also serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many.
#### The Power of Inclusion
Gwaze’s words underline a critical message: everyone, regardless of physical or mental ability, holds intrinsic value and potential. This statement isn’t just about biological functions; it’s a metaphorical affirmation of the full participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. It emphasizes that having a disability does not diminish a person’s humanity or their ability to contribute meaningfully to society.
In many societies, disabilities are often viewed through a lens of pity or discomfort, with focus placed on limitations rather than capabilities. Gwaze’s perspective invites us to shift our focus from what people can’t do to what they can do, and more importantly, to recognize and dismantle the barriers that prevent them from doing so.
Zimbabwe, home to over 1.3 million people with disabilities, has a significant untapped potential that, if recognized and capacitated, could lead to substantial economic benefits. Empowering this community is not just a moral imperative but a strategic economic opportunity.
Globally, enabling participation from people with disabilities has led to dramatic economic improvements. For instance, a report by Accenture in the United States found that companies which embrace best practices for employing and supporting more persons with disabilities in their workforce have outperformed their peers, seeing 28% higher revenue, double the net income, and 30% higher economic profit margins over a four-year period.
In Zimbabwe, tapping into this potential starts with removing barriers to education and employment. Investment in accessible infrastructure, adaptive technologies, and inclusive education policies could dramatically increase the participation of disabled persons in the workforce. For example, enhanced accessibility in schools and workplaces can open up new opportunities for this demographic, potentially leading to innovations, business ventures, and an expanded labor market that includes skilled workers previously sidelined by disability.
Economically, when people with disabilities are employed, they not only contribute to the economy through their work but also reduce dependency on social systems, thereby alleviating economic pressure on government resources. Furthermore, their employment can contribute to increased market diversities as their unique perspectives lead to new products and services, which can address unmet needs in the market.
Inclusive policies can also drive tourism and international business as countries that are known for their inclusivity attract more diverse groups of tourists and international partners. This reputation can enhance Zimbabwe’s standing on the global stage, inviting foreign investment and improving international relations.
The economic empowerment of people with disabilities is a proven catalyst for broader economic growth and societal wellbeing. For Zimbabwe, investing in this sector of the population is not just about creating equality but about harnessing a range of benefits that come from a diverse and inclusive workforce.
#### Celebrating Abilities
The idea of focusing on ability rather than disability is not new, but it is incredibly powerful. By celebrating what individuals can achieve, rather than confining them by what some assume they cannot, we open doors to new possibilities. For instance, Gwaze himself, despite societal and physical challenges, has carved out a successful career in the music industry, using his platform to advocate for others like him.
His journey is a testament to the fact that when given equal opportunities and support, people with disabilities can achieve great things. Stories of individuals excelling in various fields including arts, sciences, sports, and leadership, continue to break stereotypes and inspire a new understanding of capability and resilience.
#### Building a Supportive Environment
Creating a supportive environment is crucial in empowering people with disabilities. This means accessible education, workplace accommodations, inclusive policies, and societal attitudes that promote equality rather than exclusion. It’s about recognizing the rights of individuals to participate fully in society, just like anyone else.
Organizations and communities can play a significant role in making this a reality by advocating for policies that ensure equal opportunities and by fostering an inclusive culture that values diversity.
#### The Path Forward
Gwaze’s statement is a call to action for all of us. It is an invitation to challenge our preconceptions, to change our narrative about disability, and to build a world where everyone can thrive based on their abilities and talents. It serves as a reminder that in the grand design, everyone has a place, and no one is left out.
Inclusion begins with recognizing that every person, regardless of physical or mental challenges, is capable of making valuable contributions to society. Let us take inspiration from Gwaze’s words and work towards a world where discrimination has no place, and diversity in all its forms is celebrated.
As we move forward, let’s carry with us the profound message that if even the divine does not discriminate, then who are we to do so? It is up to each one of us to foster an environment that cherishes every individual, acknowledging that within every person lies a wealth of potential waiting to be unleashed.
In the end, it’s not about the disabilities any of us have but the humanity we all share. Let us remember and act upon this, ensuring that every human being, irrespective of their physical condition, feels valued and integral to the tapestry of our shared human experience.- ZimEye
By A Correspondent| Zanu PF Spokesperson has denied that he is under fire from his party leadership.
This follows his removal from a cabinet post and the recent arrest of his son Neville on charges of illegal foreign currency trading and using a Starlink device without license.
Speaking at the Zanu PF press conference on Monday, Mutsvangwa said he will be around as he is a child of the revolution.
“I’m not under fire as is reported by some sections of the media, I am good, I’m a child of the revolution, I have been many things in the past and I’m around and I will be around,” he responds to a question.
His son, Neville Mutsvangwa was a fortnight ago arrested and is currently locked up on allegations of dealing in foreign currency and money laundering, among other criminal charges.
By Political Reporter- Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa has blocked Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ambitions of succeeding the party’s current President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa is serving his second and final term and is expected to hand over power to Chiwenga at both the party and national levels.
However, Mutsvangwa, who also harbours presidential ambitions, stated that succession plans still need to be discussed.
Mutsvangwa made this statement while addressing journalists after the party’s secretary general, Obert Mpofu, announced a reshuffle of the Politburo by Mnangagwa.
The Politburo reshuffle is seen by some as Mnangagwa’s attempt to manage succession within the party ahead of the 2028 general election, when his second and final term as State President ends.
Mutsvangwa emphasised that succession is not currently an issue, as Mnangagwa was granted a five-year mandate to govern the country just last year. He said:
“I want to repeat, the President just won an election last year in August; he won a term for five years. The next election is in 2028. Right now, he is occupied with fulfilling the mandate of the manifesto of the past election, which he is doing excellently in many ways. These are the issues that are preoccupying our President, not this wish to compress four or five years of an election into a succession issue right now. Succession is not the primary purpose of why he was elected; he was elected for building the mandate of prosperity. If the President wants anything, he comes and brings it to this building, to his Politburo, to his central committee, and eventually to his congress. That’s what the President does. We have not discussed that issue at that level, so we have no reason to fan the flames of something which is not on the agenda of the party.”
Mutsvangwa, who accused some of his ZANU PF colleagues of orchestrating the recent arrest of his son, Neville, denied being under fire from Mnangagwa, saying he had survived before and would continue to survive.
He stated:
“Do you see any flames around me? I am not under any fire. I am here; I am a son of the revolution, and I will always be here.”
Earlier during the press conference, Mpofu announced that Mnangagwa had removed Mike Bimha from the political commissar post but kept him as a Politburo member.
He also mentioned that Jacob Mudenda, the Speaker of the National Assembly, had been reassigned to be the Party’s Treasurer General, taking over from Patrick Chinamasa, who is now ZANU PF’s Secretary for Legal Affairs.
Munyaradzi Machacha, who was the Principal of the Chitepo School of Ideology, replaced Bimha as the ZANU PF Political Commissar.
By Political reporter- Zanu PF claims it has admitted 200,000 former MDC supporters into the party over the past five years.
To facilitate this transition, the party has established a department named Kumusha/Home/Ekhaya (KHE) to attract opposition members.
Former MDC lawmaker Blessing Chebundo is heading the department.
State media reports that recent notable defections in the Mashonaland West province include opposition figures Gift Konjani, Takalani Matibe, and Virginia Mafuta.
By A Correspondent| A notorious couple previously convicted and imprisoned for fraud, Florence (née Behane) Pambukani and Felix Pambukani, has once again been implicated in a scheme to deceive desperate home seekers at Crowhill Farm in Harare.
The couple has allegedly been posing as the legal owners of land belonging to Crowhill Private Limited, leading many unsuspecting individuals to part with their hard-earned money. The disputed property, Chirika Extension of Borrowdale Estate, spans 121.4029 hectares and is legally held under a transfer deed.
Despite a High Court order issued in 2021 by Justice Webster Chinamora, which was later confirmed by the Supreme Court, barring the Pambukanis from selling the land, the couple continued their fraudulent activities. According to court documents, the High Court ordered the eviction of all illegal occupants, but those who had purchased the land from the Pambukanis resisted the eviction order, resulting in a standoff.
Crowhill Farm has been proactive, serving affected individuals with letters inviting them to regularize their status or face eviction. However, the Pambukanis’ activities have left many land seekers in a dire situation, having lost substantial sums of money.
A legal occupant of Crowhill Farm recounted the Pambukanis’ history of fraud: “I know the Pambukanis after they were convicted of fraud for defrauding Lonrho Zimbabwe and served eight years each in prison. After their release, they came to Acorn Farm desperately seeking a stand, and we assisted them.”
The resident further explained the couple’s underhanded tactics: “In 2017, Florence attempted to contest in the leadership elections for Acorn Farm, but we barred her due to her criminal record. She secretly approached Dr. Msipa to form the Acorn Township Developing Association, but it was all for her and her husband to gain financially.”
“The Pambukanis own a mere stand, a tiny fraction of Cleverhill Estate, far from where they are selling and leasing to unsuspecting individuals. Their rightful stand, number 720, is clearly marked on the map,” he added.
Efforts to contact the Pambukanis for comment were unsuccessful as their phones were unreachable at the time of publication.
The couple has also been accused of claiming close connections to senior government officials and has a history of evicting farmers from their land. Last year, they reportedly hired armed thugs to attack workers at Wakefield Farm in the Selous Area 5, a property they tried to seize from its owner, Kenneth Bartholomew. The farm workers sustained severe injuries, with some still receiving treatment at Chegutu Hospital.
The Pambukanis’ takeover of Wakefield Farm led to the eviction of 35 families, including children and the elderly, despite Bartholomew having written approval from the Agriculture Minister to stay on his farm.
In 2008, the couple also illegally took over Scotsdale Farm, which resulted in the death of its rightful owner, Kobus Joubert, in 2010. Following Joubert’s eviction, all farm workers were displaced, rendering them homeless after years of employment on the farm.
By A Correspondent| ZANU PF’s youth league deputy secretary for administration, Danmore Mambondiyani, has reportedly faced suspension from the party, purportedly due to his resistance against certain members’ calls for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028.
According to sources cited by The NewsHawks, Mambondiyani stands accused of various infractions, including allegedly bringing a bag of cash to a national youth executive meeting and offering sums of US$200 and US$100 to Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs John Paradza and Secretary for Youth Affairs Tinotenda Machakaire, respectively.
Machakaire serves as the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training, while Paradza holds the position of Deputy Minister for Environment, Climate, and Wildlife.
The allegations against Mambondiyani are said to have originated from a ZANU PF national executive meeting on May 9, during which he purportedly declined to participate in chants supporting the extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency beyond the constitutional two-term limit.
The youth national executive meeting was convened to appoint eight new members to the national executive, including Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, the President’s son, who assumed the role of deputy secretary for external affairs.
Other appointments included Emily Jesaya, Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, Recreation, and Culture, appointed as deputy secretary for mines, and Charles Munganasa, appointed as deputy secretary for local government, who also serves as a board member of the state-controlled Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and recently assumed the role of acting chief executive of the company.
During the meeting, Mambondiyani reportedly faced questioning for his refusal to participate in slogans advocating for Mnangagwa’s term extension, contrary to the majority’s stance.
Allegedly, Mambondiyani had previously expressed his opinion that Mnangagwa should step down in 2028 and pass the reins to his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.
In a letter addressed to Mambondiyani, ZANU PF’s youth secretary for legal affairs, Phineas Makombe, cited conduct deemed inappropriate for a National Executive Member, particularly highlighting an incident where Mambondiyani allegedly attempted to influence the meeting’s proceedings by publicly endorsing himself for a vacant position within the National Executive Council and engaging in actions suggestive of vote-buying.
By A Correspondent| The war of words between Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala and Midlands Provincial minister Owen Mudha Ncube is escalating and has been joined by Zanu PF youthies from Midlands who yesterday said there is no regret for chanting the slogan “Pasi na Job Sikhala”.
The dispute arose after Mudha, at a Zanu PF event over the weekend, vocally denounced Sikhala chanting the slogan “Pasi na Job Sikhala”.
Sikhala did not take this lightly and promptly rebutted him for employing cowardly tactics to silence him.
He expressed his dismay, stating, “Dear Zimbabweans and all our worldwide friends, I am disappointed and deeply troubled by threats against my life by Owen Mudha Ncube.”
He emphasized the importance of democracy and freedom of expression, lamenting the actions of those who seek to silence opposing voices.
In response to Sikhala’s remarks, the Zanu PF youths reiterated their support for Mudha, defending the “pasi nemhandu” slogan, asserting its significance as a revolutionary statement.
. Job Sikhala is doing to please his colonial paymasters will not derail us from our economic trajectory under the leadership of his excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” they declared.
They further dismissed Sikhala’s concerns about the slogan’s implications, labeling his statements as foolish and indicative of desperation.
“Claims by Job Sikhala that the revolutionary slogan is meant to kill or threaten him are not only foolish but a sign of desperation,” the group asserted.
Sikhala is expected to hold a press conference to provide a further response to Mudha’s criticisms.

### Breaking News: Aliko Dangote Criticizes Visa Restrictions for African Investors at Africa CEO Forum
Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, has openly criticized the restrictive visa policies faced by African investors across the continent, spotlighting a significant barrier to intra-African business at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali, Rwanda. Dangote’s remarks highlighted the cumbersome process he faces, needing to secure 35 different visas to travel within Africa on his Nigerian passport.
During his speech, Dangote expressed his frustrations to President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, emphasizing the disparity in treatment between African and European passport holders. “It’s most annoying that if you are treating everybody the same, then I can understand. But a French businessman like Patrick Pouyanne doesn’t need 35 visas to travel in Africa,” Dangote lamented, pointing out the ease with which European nationals navigate the continent.
Experts weigh in on the implications of such policies. Dr. Amara Konneh, an African development analyst, noted, “This visa quandary not only impedes personal movement but significantly hinders the economic integration vital for the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).” Konneh suggests that easing travel restrictions could spur investment and economic synergy across nations.
South Africa was specifically mentioned for its conflicting stance, which allows visa-free entry to 28 European nations while restricting access to nationals from most African countries. Dr. Susan Mboya, a political scientist specializing in African policy, remarked, “South Africa’s policy might be seen as perpetuating colonial-era divisions rather than embracing a pan-African spirit.”
Dangote also touched upon the broader business challenges within the continent, stating, “Our main job is to make sure the regional markets all work. Once they work, then we can now go to AfCFTA. But then, for AfCFTA also, we need to make sure that it works.”
The debate over visa openness is intensifying as leaders and business magnates like Dangote call for reforms. These voices highlight the need for a unified approach to foster economic unity and ease of doing business across Africa, which are critical for the continent’s growth and global economic stature.
As discussions unfold, the business community and policymakers are urged to consider reforms that would not only benefit high-profile investors like Dangote but also the myriad of smaller enterprises striving to expand their reach across Africa.- Agencies, BBC, Bloomberg
The best definition of an ILLUSTRIOUS LEADER and yet a HUMBLE FATHER is one who welcomes any ZIMBABWEAN and treats them as their beloved child , even though he is the PRESIDENT of the Republic ,COMMANDER IN-CHIEF of the Defence Forces and Head of State and government!
I was so honoured today with a rare opportunity of being warmly hosted by our ICONIC President at his state of the art PRECABE FARM in Sherwood , Kwekwe where I was extremely impressed with his agricultural enterprise on the 405 Hectare Farm. It was truly an HONOUR to witness the HARDWORK that the President has put in demonstrating the capacity that we, as ZIMBABWEANS have, in returning our beloved nation to its status as the BREAD BASKET of AFRICA.
True to his incessant calls on PRODUCTION and VALUE ADDITION the extensive maize and wheat farming by our President is truly MAGNIFICENT and left me in awe. Such unique character of leadership is exemplary and must be EMULATED by all, especially us the youth who are the future…
I was particularly IMPRESSED by our President’s substantial heard of the beautiful Ankole or Inyambo breed originally from East Africa, but predominantly in Rwanda.
This exceptional high end breed is drought resistant yet produces the best herd normally used as a tourist attraction.Their long curved horns are also on high demand in the art and crafts industry.
I was also delighted to learn that the milk from this special breed of the Ankole has a high fat content from which ghee and yoghurt are extracted.
I fully appreciate the unique WISDOM imparted on us by the President on the farming business and how this can sustain the economy if replicated across the Country.
Indeed, no one will die of hunger in Zimbabwe with such an inspirational President.
It is high time that as Zimbabweans, we embrace our GOD GIVEN resource of fertile land and we fully utilise it for FOOD SECURITY and self sufficiency for all…EXAMPLARY LEADERSHIP…NYIKA INO VAKWA NE VENE VAYO…EWORKS… EDELIVERS….EDHUCHI

Jacob Zuma Remains on the Ballot, MK Party Swears in Commitment Amid Legal Challenges
By A Correspondent | ZimEye | n a dramatic turn of events, despite a recent Constitutional Court ruling declaring him ineligible, Jacob Zuma remains listed on the ballot for the upcoming elections. The MK Party, with which Zuma is affiliated, has issued a fervent statement reaffirming their commitment to securing a major victory in the polls.
The Constitutional Court’s decision, which was meant to disqualify Zuma due to eligibility concerns, has not deterred his party. Instead, the MK Party claims the ruling has only intensified their supporters’ resolve to vote them into power, aiming for a two-thirds majority which they believe will allow them to redirect the nation’s future.
In their statement, the MK Party criticized the current legal system and the parliamentary system, suggesting that the decision of the court reflects the views of a few against the mandate of the majority. The party emphasized its dedication to the welfare of the “black poor and downtrodden” and reiterated their stance against what they perceive as a colonial system favoring the previously advantaged.
The party also called for calm and unity among its supporters and urged them to remain focused on the electoral goal. They have announced plans for Zuma to address the nation in the coming days to further outline the course of action and rally the electorate.
As the political landscape heats up, all eyes are on the MK Party and Jacob Zuma’s next moves, as they challenge the legal boundaries and aim to redefine South African politics. The upcoming elections promise to be a pivotal moment in the nation’s history, potentially reshaping its governance and political alignment.
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a tragic helicopter crash near the border with Azerbaijan, sparking a wave of international reactions.
An Israeli official, speaking to Reuters on conditions of anonymity, emphasized that Israel had no involvement in the incident.
This statement comes amidst a backdrop of heightened tensions, with Israel having conducted operations in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran in recent months.
In April, President Raisi had authorized a direct attack on Israel, citing retaliation against an Israeli strike in Damascus that resulted in the deaths of key figures within Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. The incident marked a significant escalation between the two nations.
Reacting to the news of Raisi’s death, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described him as a “true, reliable friend” of Russia, praising his contributions to the Russia-Iran partnership. “Their role in strengthening mutually beneficial Russian-Iranian cooperation and trusting partnership is invaluable,” Lavrov stated. Russia extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Iran.
Meanwhile, European Council President Charles Michel expressed deep condolences, highlighting the EU’s solidarity in this time of loss. “Our thoughts go to the families,” Michel added, reflecting the shared sentiment of grief and condolence.
Controversially, Dutch politician Geert Wilders voiced a starkly different perspective on social media, expressing hope for a secular future for Iran devoid of what he described as an “oppressive and barbaric Islamic mullah regime.”
In contrast, Hamas issued a statement acknowledging the support of Raisi and his administration in their struggle against Israel, underlining the significant role Iran played under his leadership in supporting Palestinian causes.
The UAE’s President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also extended condolences, declaring solidarity with Iran during this challenging time, a sentiment echoed by various international leaders and organizations as they respond to the sudden demise of one of the region’s pivotal figures.

A referee has reportedly been suspended by the South African Football Association after failing to give a red card to Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga in the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Stellenbosch a fortnight ago.
Match official Jelly Chavani didn’t issue a second yellow card to the Warriors international following his challenge on winger Devin Titus in the first half.
Lunga was already on another yellow card when the incident happened and the Sundowns technical quickly substituted him.
According to City Press, the SAFA review committee felt that Chavani should have issued a second yellow card to Lunga, which would have resulted in his sending off.
The association has now suspended the referee following that blunder.
Safa confirmed suspension of Chivani and other match officials to the publication:
“Yes, a suspension has been handed out and we can confirm that as Safa. Some of our match officials have been suspended and we will only see some of them at the start of the new season.
“All of them will be part of the pre-season workshop in July where they’ll go over the amendments of the laws of the game, prepare for next season and reflect on the previous season,” Safa concluded.

(Analysis) The UK government has announced plans to deport failed asylum seekers to Rwanda, following unsuccessful attempts to manage small boat crossings due to legal challenges. Many of these individuals have reportedly fled to other regions, including Ireland, prompting the Westminster government to shift focus towards those without the financial means or support to legally contest their deportation.
This policy has stirred considerable anxiety among Zimbabwean asylum seekers, fearing potential repercussions in Rwanda. Our investigation involved discussions with over 60 Zimbabwean asylum seekers, revealing a unanimous concern for their safety. Among them, Petty Ziramba from Belfast, who has contributed significantly to the British community by providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic and currently cares for the elderly, expressed her fears of extradition given the existing treaties between Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
James Claverly
“The risk of being sent to Rwanda is dangerous because of the extradition treaties. Many Rwandese in Zimbabwe and neighboring countries have been easily deported,” said Ziramba.
Rwanda Deportations
Furthermore, Evelyn Chigaro, a member of the Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR), highlighted the dangers due to bilateral exchange programs between Zimbabwe and Rwanda. She emphasized that such arrangements increase the risks for Zimbabweans who are already targets in their homeland and could face severe consequences if extradited.
“The exchange programs between the two countries lead to the risk of many Zimbabweans who are wanted and will face the police, army, and CIO operating in Rwanda today through such programmes,” Chigaro noted.
Simbarashe Jingo shared similar concerns, referencing a recent incident where a Rwandan man’s death underscored systemic failures in both countries. He criticized the lack of response from Zimbabwean authorities, which is unusual given their track record of addressing public incidents.
“The recent killing of a Rwandan man clearly shows a broken-down system in the countries. The Zimbabwean police have not even put a statement to the case as they normally do with all the killings or burglaries,” Jingo stated, adding, “We are smelling a dead rat in this case.”
In addition, we spoke with Mr. Patson Muzuwa, who previously addressed similar issues during the UNMIK mission in Kosovo. He drew parallels between the situation in Kosovo and the proposed deportations to Rwanda, describing the move as a disregard for the safety and rights of individuals who, while in the UK, enjoyed freedoms to demonstrate and associate—freedoms now jeopardized by the threat of extradition under Rwanda’s stringent laws.
“The timing to return asylum seekers to Rwanda is an insult to people who have their life in danger through their refugee sur place activities,” Muzuwa pointed out.
This series of responses paints a bleak picture for failed asylum seekers potentially facing deportation to Rwanda, a country where they may not only lose their newfound liberties but also face serious personal danger.
By ZimEye Editorial | Analysis | Emmerson Mnangagwa has reshuffled the ZANU PF leadership removing former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s brother Mike Bimha from the powerful National Commissariat to just an ordinary politburo member and replacing Jacob Mudenda with Patrick Chinamasa at the Legal Secretariat.
Mnangagwa is putting a team that backs him for a third term. He is doubtlessly putting up a team to give him a loophole to extend his presidency into a third term because Bimha once said Mnangagwa can not go to the third term, a statement that sealed his fate.
Mnangagwa recently deployed emissaries to negotiate with Nelson Chamisa loyale Jameson Timba, who refused the talks. He then swiftly shifted into meetings with the controversial Welshman Ncube and his IPU condemned agent, Sengezo Tshabangu.
This development has been confirmed in parallel interviews in which Mnangagwa’s spokesman George Charamba has confirmed that Welshman Ncube is engaged in secret meetings with Mnangagwa in recent weeks.
Ncube is the godfather and the sole beneficiary of the Sengezo Tshabangu recalls that forced the country’s most popular politician Chamisa to dump his Citizen Coalition for Change party.
Ncube is also the beneficiary of a USD25million ponzi scam called Qoki that enriched him from selling fake residential stands to diaspora women from Matebeleland.
The development makes both Welshman Ncube and Mnangagwa politicians with super powers overnight.
Commenting Ncube has replied as follows-
@Welshman_Ncube you represented Sithule Tshuma on 17 Feb by mediating for her that Qoki Woodville 1 ladies uplift the caveat. This was in absence of Sithule who declined to join the meeting apparently under doctors orders 4 bed rest.
By Political Reporter – A Rwandan national has been killed by a suspected fellow countryman in Harare in what is believed to be an assassination orchestrated by agents of Paul Kagame’s regime in Kigali.
Samuel Habimana, of 2071 Mainway Meadows, was killed on Friday after returning home around 10 pm.
Gunmen, armed with an AK-47 and a pistol, broke his door, stormed into the kitchen, and shot him in the neck, killing him instantly.
The brutal murder occurred in front of his son, wife, and house help.
The house help was the first to spot four men lying in wait for Habimana and alerted the family, who tried to secure themselves and raise the alarm.
However, the assailants, wearing face masks, swiftly broke the door with a claw bar before carrying out the killing.
A report was made to the police, and investigations are ongoing.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police had not released a statement on the incident at the time of writing.
However, a member of the Rwandan community told Review & Mail that the incident was a terror attack linked to Kigali, where President Paul Kagame’s regime has been targeting opponents abroad for elimination, causing diplomatic tensions with countries such as South Africa.
“This was an assassination,” the source said. “They did not take anything from the house where he had some US$3000, but only took away the CCTV recording device.”
Habimana operated a transport business and had recently opened a grocery shop in Harare.
Sources described him as a well-loved member of the community, which now lives in fear.
It also emerged that Kagame’s regime is targeting nationals from other East African countries, namely the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi.
Rwanda is conducting military operations in Eastern DRC, which the international community has condemned.
Sources revealed that Rwanda has been sending spies into Zimbabwe to locate Kagame’s opponents, attracting the interest of Zimbabwean security services, who are part of the ongoing investigation.
One source mentioned that security services were aware of Kigali’s activities, ironically, at a time when relations between Zimbabwe and Rwanda are growing.
The incident is likely to raise diplomatic tensions, especially as Zimbabwe is set to assume the chairmanship of the SADC regional body in August.
SADC is currently grappling with the security situation in Eastern DRC, where Rwanda sponsors rebels, destabilising the region.
“We cannot prevent Zimbabwe from having good relations with Rwanda, but we are happy that the security services know what is going on and have been assisting us whenever we call them,” a source said.
“They know what they are doing,” the source added.
Over the years, attempts on the lives of some Rwandan community members have been foiled by a combination of state intelligence and the community’s vigilance.
Information gathered by this publication suggests that Zimbabwe has intercepted and deported spies from Kigali.
Rwandan refugees have been in Zimbabwe for over 30 years, and the community is estimated to comprise over 2000 families.
By Political Reporter-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has been flown to China for a medical review.
Chiwenga was last seen in public on May 11, attending the silver jubilee of Roman Catholic Archbishop Robert Ndlovu’s ordination in Harare, alongside President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba confirmed Chiwenga’s whereabouts to ZimLive after the vice president missed three events attended by Mnangagwa last week. Charamba stated, “He went out for his medicals.”
In 2019, Chiwenga underwent major surgery in China to address a condition that narrowed or tightened his esophagus.
He has also received medical treatment in India and South Africa.
This marks Chiwenga’s second visit to his Chinese doctors in five months.
During his annual leave in January, he travelled to China for “routine medical check-ups with his physicians,” according to a presidential spokesperson.
By Political reporter- Zanu PF claims that it has admitted 200,000 former MDC supporters into the party over the past five years.
To facilitate this transition, the party has established a department named Kumusha/Home/Ekhaya (KHE), aimed at attracting opposition members.
Former MDC lawmaker Blessing Chebundo is heading the department.
State media reports that recent notable defections in the Mashonaland West province include opposition figures Gift Konjani, Takalani Matibe, and Virginia Mafuta.
By A Correspondent| Social media sensation Tinashe Mugabe found himself in a predicament during a recent episode of his DNA show when a couple, embroiled in a paternity dispute, appeared reticent to disclose crucial details.
Renowned for his candid approach in resolving such disputes, Mugabe attempted to coax information from the couple, only to be met with apparent amnesia.
Frustrated by their reluctance to cooperate, Mugabe made the bold decision to exit the scene, questioning the couple’s sincerity in seeking resolution.
“It’s fine, why did you reach out if you’re unwilling to communicate? You should have clarified your intentions beforehand. Adopting a dismissive attitude won’t yield any results,” remarked Mugabe before departing, leaving the couple to ponder their actions.
In response, the female participant attempted to shift blame onto the alleged father, also named Tinashe.
Mugabe, however, remained steadfast in his stance, urging them to return when they were prepared to engage in a constructive dialogue.
CAPS United and Dynamos played a 1-1 draw in a Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 12 encounter played on Sunday.
The Glamour Boys led in the game after opening the scoring through Kevin Moyo before Ralph Kawondera secured a late equaliser.
The Green Machine dominated the early pace but couldn’t create any threatening opportunities. They got three corner kicks and a couple of free kicks in dangerous positions inside the first quarter hour but failed to utilize them.
Dembare, on the other end, played deep and only started threatening after the half hour.
The first half finished with little goalmouth action and both sides tied at goalless.
In the second half, Dembare got a penalty which was converted by Kevin Moyo in the 54th minute to break the deadlock.
Ten minutes later, Sadney Urikhob thought that he doubled the Glamour Boys’ lead, but his goal was ruled off for an offside.
The Green Machine later equalised through Kawondera and squeeze a point for the hosts.
At a recent political gathering, Owen Ncube, the Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Gokwe-Kana Constituency, introduced a new slogan: “2030 VaMnangagwa Vanenge Varipo Vachitonga.”
The slogan, which translates to “In 2030, Mnangagwa will still be there ruling,” has sparked significant controversy within the party.
Ncube’s declaration has intensified discussions around the future leadership and political strategy of Zanu PF.
While some party members have embraced the slogan as a show of unwavering support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, others view it as a contentious statement that could fuel internal divisions.
The controversy surrounding Ncube’s slogan was further inflamed by the circulation of a letter on social media, purportedly exposing infighting within Zanu PF.
The party’s Information Department quickly moved to discredit the letter, labelling it as fake.
“The ZANU PF Information Department distances itself from the below posted fake letter created and spread by miscreants,” a party spokesperson stated.
“As usual, these fallacious and malicious attempts to disinform the public have no effect because the public knows that if a purported letter does not appear on the Information Director’s timeline, then it is fake.”
The spokesperson emphasized the party’s commitment to transparency and dismissed the letter as a baseless attempt to sow discord.
“Despite these measures that are uncircumventable, uncreative individuals continue to try to deceive the public in a clearly disingenuous manner.
It should be disregarded with the contempt it deserves, as should all alleged party letters that do not appear on this timeline. The nation is duly advised.”
The slogan “2030 VaMnangagwa Vanenge Varipo Vachitonga” reflects a strong endorsement of Mnangagwa’s leadership and his vision for the country’s future.
However, it also underscores the challenges Zanu PF faces in maintaining party unity and addressing internal and external criticisms.
As Zimbabwe approaches future elections, the political landscape will undoubtedly continue to evolve, with slogans like Ncube’s playing a significant role in shaping the discourse.
The party’s ability to manage internal disputes and present a unified front will be crucial in determining its success in the coming years.
Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has addressed growing scepticism about his credentials.
In a statement over the weekend, Chamisa emphasized his dedication and values, saying:
“AUTHENTIC, GENUINE & PRINCIPLED… One thing for certain is; I have this absolute love for our beautiful country. I LOVE GOD. I LOVE ZIMBABWE and its wonderful people. I’m principled. I’m tolerant. I’m a peace builder. I’m a nation builder. I’m a transformer.
I’m a servant. I serve. I’m a firm believer in real change. I’m a patriot. I’m not about titles, positions or trinkets. This is who I am.
THANK YOU ZIMBABWE for standing with me. I will NEVER disappoint you. This is my commitment!! God bless you abundantly. #OnePeople”
Chamisa’s statement comes in response to increasing criticism and aims to reaffirm his commitment to Zimbabwe and its citizens.
In a dramatic turn of events that has stirred significant controversy, Wicknell Chivayo, a prominent businessman with close ties to the ruling Zanu PF party, appears to have President Emmerson Mnangagwa under his influence.
This assertion gained traction following the circulation of a photo on social media, showing Chivayo in what seemed to be a dominant position over the Zimbabwean leader inside a luxury vehicle.
The image, which has gone viral, portrays Chivayo in a manner that suggests an unsettling degree of control over Mnangagwa, further fueling speculation about the extent of Chivayo’s influence.
“Chivayo has effectively reduced Mnangagwa to his own toy,” noted one political analyst, highlighting the growing concern among observers about the businessman’s power dynamics within the Zanu PF hierarchy.
This incident is not an isolated one.
Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and controversial business dealings, has long been a polarizing figure in Zimbabwean politics.
His close relationship with top officials has often raised eyebrows, but this recent development has brought his influence into sharper focus.
Political analysts are particularly alarmed by the implications of such a relationship.
One analyst commented, “This is more than just a photo; it symbolizes the deep entanglement of business interests with political power in Zimbabwe.
Chivayo’s ability to ‘trap’ the president in such a manner is indicative of a larger problem where business tycoons wield disproportionate influence over national leaders.”
This scenario also brings into question the integrity and independence of President Mnangagwa, whose leadership has often been criticized for being susceptible to manipulation by wealthy elites.
Critics argue that this undermines democratic governance and the rule of law, as it places the interests of a few above the needs of the many.
The optics of the photo are damaging for Mnangagwa, who has been striving to project an image of strength and independence.
Instead, the image with Chivayo suggests vulnerability and dependence, a stark contrast to the leadership persona he aims to cultivate.
“For a president to be seen in such a compromising position is detrimental to his authority and the nation’s perception of his leadership,” another analyst pointed out.
As the debate rages on social media and in political circles, the implications of Chivayo’s apparent hold over Mnangagwa remain a critical point of discussion.
The incident underscores the pervasive issues of cronyism and the intertwining of business and politics in Zimbabwe, raising serious questions about the future of the country’s governance.
The photo of Wicknell Chivayo and President Emmerson Mnangagwa has not only sparked controversy but has also highlighted the problematic nature of their relationship. As political analysts and citizens alike grapple with the implications, the incident serves as a potent reminder of the challenges facing Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Jacob Zuma, will not stand for election to Parliament. In an unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Leona Theron on Monday, the court found that Zuma was neither eligible nor qualified to stand for election.
The Constitutional Court ruled that the 15 months sentence it previously imposed on him for contempt bars him from standing for election.
“Mr Zuma was convicted of an offence and sentenced to more than 12 months imprisonment for purposes of section 47(1)(e) and is not eligible to be a member of and not qualified to stand for election to Parliament,” the judgement said.
The Concourt overturned the decision of the electoral court which had found that Zuma’s sentence could not be regarded as a sentence as envisaged in the section. The matter was appealed by the IEC.

Former Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala has called out President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s right hand man and Midlands Provincial minister Owen Ncube for chanting a slogan denouncing him.
In a video circulating on social media, Mudha is heard chanting “pasi na Job Sikhala” while also escalating the Mnangagwa 2030 slogan.
Sikhala has since responded to Mudha saying his cowardly tactics undermine the principles of democracy and freedom of expression.
“Dear Zimbabweans and all our worldwide friends, I am disappointed and deeply trouble by threats against my life by Owen Mudha Ncube. I want to condemn such a cowardly tactic aimed at silencing the voices of Zimbabwe’s final liberation. These threats not only undermine the principles of democracy and freedom of expression but also reveal the length to which some selfish individuals are against the people of Zimbabwe. It’s quite unfortunate that such utterances come at a time when all Zimbabweans are working hard to get Zimbabwe back in the Commonwealth…”

Comfortable Clothing and Footwear: Pack versatile clothing suitable for various activities and weather conditions. Hiking boots are essential for exploring national parks, while comfortable sandals are perfect for beach days.
Navigation System: Having a GPS or downloading offline maps on your phone is crucial, especially in remote areas with limited phone reception.

By A Correspondent| The Korean embassy in Zimbabwe has lined up a music festival to celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Zimbabwe.
The festival dubbed “Show Me Your K” will be held on May 22 at The Venue in Avondale and will showcase cultural exchange while launching future collaborations.
This initiative comes as Korea gears up to host the first-ever Korea-Africa Summit in Seoul this June. His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has been invited to attend the summit.
The event will commemorate 30 years of Korea-Zimbabwe diplomacy, featuring K-Pop performances that showcase Korean culture
Zimbabwean artists Hope Masike and John Cole will also perform. Diverse booths featuring Korean food products, cultural organizations, and author Hope’s published works will be available.
Open to all ages and groups, the event welcomes the public to celebrate the Korea-Zimbabwe friendship and experience both cultures.
This event signifies the growing cultural exchange and strong diplomatic ties between Korea and Zimbabwe. It paves the way for future collaborations, including visits from Korean B-boy and Kukkiwon Taekwondo teams to Zimbabwe in September and October, respectively.
A Korean embassy official said, “A lot has been lined up. Kpop and African music dance performances by Salt and Light, Extreme Dreamers, a Korean song performance with traditional Korean instruments, a collaboration performance by John Cole and Hope Masike. He added: “We have shared diplomatic relations since 1994, 30th year of diplomatic relations, thus we want to celebrate big. Also, there’s the Korea-Africa Summit in June, thus we want to celebrate the harmony of Korea and African culture with dance performances prior to the summit.”
Prominent Zimbabwean opposition figure, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala, stands as a formidable and aggressive character in the fight against Zanu PF’s debauchery.
His courage and tenacity in challenging the regime of Emmerson Mnangagwa have made him a critical voice for many Zimbabweans yearning for change and justice.
However, Sikhala’s journey has been marked by immense personal sacrifice, including spending 595 days in jail for his outspoken stance against the government. At this pivotal moment, it is crucial for citizens to rally behind him with support rather than criticism.
Earlier this week, Sikhala spoke at a human rights and democracy summit in Geneva, where he vehemently condemned the Zanu PF regime for its persecution of defenseless citizens.
His speech highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by Zimbabweans under Mnangagwa’s rule, including widespread human rights abuses, political repression, and economic mismanagement.
Sikhala’s fearless critique of the regime underscores the importance of his role in advocating for a more democratic and just Zimbabwe.
Sikhala’s imprisonment for nearly two years is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the cause of justice and democracy. During his time in jail, he endured harsh conditions and relentless persecution, a clear indication of the lengths to which the regime will go to silence dissent.
Despite these challenges, Sikhala has remained resolute in his mission, continuously calling out the government’s failures and mobilizing support for the opposition.
Critics of Sikhala argue that his aggressive approach is counterproductive, alienating potential allies and escalating tensions.
However, this perspective overlooks the broader context of Zimbabwe’s political landscape, where soft-spoken criticism often falls on deaf ears.
In a country where the ruling party has shown little regard for dialogue or compromise, a robust and confrontational stance may be necessary to galvanize public support and bring international attention to the plight of Zimbabweans.
Moreover, Sikhala’s boldness inspires many who feel marginalized and voiceless under the current regime.
His willingness to confront the government head-on provides a sense of hope and empowerment to those who believe in the possibility of change. By standing up against oppression, Sikhala embodies the spirit of resistance and resilience that is crucial for any meaningful political transformation.
It is essential for citizens and the international community to recognize the importance of supporting figures like Job Sikhala.
While criticism has its place, it should not overshadow the need for solidarity and encouragement. Zimbabwe’s path to democracy and justice requires the collective efforts of all who desire a better future, and this includes rallying behind those who have shown unwavering dedication to the cause.
Job Sikhala’s enduring fight against the Zanu PF regime deserves more support than criticism. His sacrifices and bold stance are vital in challenging a government that has long oppressed its people.
As Zimbabweans continue to struggle for their rights and freedoms, figures like Sikhala play an indispensable role in keeping the hope for democracy alive.
Now, more than ever, it is crucial to support and amplify his efforts in the quest for a just and democratic Zimbabwe.

Speaking on Friday at the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) pass-out parade at Ntabazinduna Training School, Emmerson Mnangagwa emphasized the critical importance of loyalty and discipline among prison officers.
The event, which showcased the graduates’ skills and readiness, served as a platform for Mnangagwa to outline his expectations and the government’s support for the correctional services.
Mnangagwa, acknowledging the pervasive challenge of substance abuse, stated, “We, just like many countries, are grappling with the menace of substance abuse.”
He underscored the government’s commitment to combating this issue, highlighting the role of prison officers in maintaining peace and security.
“You play a crucial role in promoting peace and security,” Mnangagwa declared, adding that the ZPCS has earned international respect through its distinguished performance on foreign missions.
The Zanu PF leader commended the ZPCS for its innovative efforts, particularly the commercialization of inmates’ activities, which he described as a demonstration of their commitment to innovation.
He noted, “The service has embarked on innovation by commercializing inmates’ activities. This demonstrates your commitment to innovation.”
Mnangagwa further pointed out that the government is prepared to support these initiatives, especially in addressing climate change and ensuring food security.
“We as Government stand ready to assist in this regard as we work against the impact of climate change and ensure food security,” he said.
Mnangagwa’s speech also touched on the fundamental values that should guide the graduates in their new roles.
He invoked a nationalistic sentiment with the phrase, “Nyika inovakwa igotongwa, igonamatirwa nevene vayo,” which translates to “A nation is built, governed, and prayed for by its own people.” He stressed that discipline and patriotism are the cornerstones of the country’s security architecture.
“As you embark on this noble career, go forth with the skills acquired here knowing that discipline and patriotism are the foundations of our security architecture,” he urged the new officers.
The President expressed pride in the quality of the parade, praising both the graduates and their families for their dedication and support.
“I commend the ZPCS for a job well done. The quality of the parade is top-notch.
To the families of graduates, I thank you for the support you give to the graduands. I wish you great success in your careers,” Mnangagwa concluded.
The call for loyalty and the emphasis on innovation and discipline highlight Mnangagwa’s vision for a robust and respected correctional service that not only maintains security but also contributes to national development and international esteem.
Allegations of Misconduct in Drought Relief Efforts Prompt Legal Action in Zibagwe.
An opposition councilor Simbarashe Hlabati has initiated legal proceedings against a ZANU PF proportional representation councillor, Rita Masiyambiri, and four Social Welfare officers. The case, filed in Kwekwe Civil Court under case number KkGL 163/24, accuses the defendants of exploiting vulnerable villagers by improperly charging them for the transportation of maize intended for drought relief.
The controversy centers on an allegation that the involved officials, including J Govera, Mukondo, Thomas Ncube, and Trymore Huni, collected a total of US$800 from the drought-stricken villagers, despite alternative free transportation options being available. Hlabati, representing the aggrieved residents, claims he had secured a truck donated by a well-wisher to deliver the maize, an offer the defendants allegedly rejected in favor of a paid service.
Analytical Insight:
Experts suggest that the case may reflect deeper systemic issues within local governance and aid distribution. Dr. Tinashe Mutema, a political analyst specializing in African governance, commented on the situation: “The allegations, if proven true, demonstrate a disturbing breach of trust and potential corruption within the mechanisms designed to support the most vulnerable. It’s essential that such cases are thoroughly investigated to uphold the integrity of public service.”
Legal analyst Menzies Moyo highlighted the legal ramifications: “The court’s decision could set a precedent for how similar cases are handled in the future. It’s not just about the reimbursement of these funds but about ensuring accountability and transparency in public office.”
Local Reactions:
The mood among the villagers is one of frustration and betrayal. Marita Sengwe, one of the affected residents, shared her dismay: “We are already struggling to make ends meet, and to be exploited in such a manner is heartbreaking. We had trusted them to help us in these tough times.”
Next Steps:
The court is expected to review the case meticulously, given its implications for community trust and administrative integrity. Hlabati’s application seeks not only a refund for the villagers but also a permanent bar against the defendants from managing welfare distribution. Furthermore, an investigation into the job descriptions and actions of the Social Welfare officers involved is requested.
This case highlights the critical need for vigilance and integrity in the administration of aid, especially in regions where residents depend heavily on government support for survival. The outcome of this legal battle will likely have lasting implications for how welfare programs are administered in the ward and potentially beyond.
Three Zimbabweans Jailed in South Africa for Explosives Smuggling
In a major crackdown on cross-border crime, three Zimbabwean nationals have been handed significant prison sentences by a South African court for smuggling explosives into the country. Dube Siyabonga Sibusiso (25), Chuma Temba (38), and Thabo Mokuele (36) were collectively sentenced to 51 years in prison following their arrest and subsequent trial by South Africa’s specialized crime unit, the Hawks.
The three men were convicted under the Explosives Act of 1956, which strictly prohibits the unlawful possession of explosives, and the Immigration Act, which addresses violations related to improper entry into the country. Limpopo spokesperson for the Hawks, Warrant Officer Lethunya Mmuroa, detailed the charges, stating, “Accused 1: Dube Siyabonga Sibusiso was sentenced for Contravention of Explosive Act 26 of 1956 — 15 years imprisonment, and Contravention of Immigration Act — 2 years imprisonment.”
The arrest unfolded dramatically when an off-duty police Sergeant at the Beitbridge Port of Entry noticed suspicious behavior involving two of the accused carrying a plastic bag. Suspecting illegal activities, the sergeant conducted a search which revealed 50 units of connector capped fuse, two reels of detonating fuse, and 11 pieces of 17 meters of detonating fuse. “The quick action of the officer was pivotal in intercepting these dangerous materials,” noted Mmuroa.
Legal experts argue that the hefty sentences serve as a deterrent to similar crimes, emphasizing the severity with which South Africa treats violations of its explosive laws. “This case underlines the significant risks associated with smuggling explosives, not just in terms of public safety but also the legal consequences for those involved,” explained legal analyst Themba Gqubule.
Security expert Dr. Linda Zikhali highlighted the broader implications for regional security. “The smuggling of explosives is a grave concern for regional stability. It not only poses direct threats to public safety but can also fuel other forms of organized crime and insurgency,” she said.
The conviction and sentencing of these individuals might be a robust response from South African authorities in tackling crimes that threaten national security. As South Africa continues to enhance its border security measures, this case acts as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced in managing and securing its borders.
Retro video games were popularised in the 1970s, but as computers became increasingly commonplace, the games faded into oblivion.
However, recently, there’s been somewhat of a revival of the games. And it’s not forefronted by boomers, who might remember playing these games – in fact, it’s led by the younger Gen X, who appear to have developed a nostalgia for something they’ve never had.
Let’s take a look at the rise of retro video games and what it means!
A short history of retro video games
Retro video games, often defined as those from the 1970s through to the late 1990s, capture a significant era in the evolution of gaming.
This period marks the transition from simple, monochrome games to complex story-driven experiences – they thus set the foundation for the modern gaming industry.
The early 1970s introduced the world to video gaming with arcade hits like “Pong” (1972).
Created by Atari, this simple table-tennis simulation became wildly popular, inviting widespread interest in video games.
The success of “Pong” led to a proliferation of similar arcade games, spearheading a new form of entertainment and a burgeoning industry.
By the late 1970s, the focus shifted from arcades to home gaming systems.
The Atari 2600, launched in 1977, was pivotal, allowing people to play video games in their living rooms. It offered interchangeable cartridges, a novel concept that greatly expanded the variety of games available to consumers.
The 1980s were a golden age for video games, characterised by rapid technological advancements and an explosion of game genres.
Iconic games like “Super Mario Bros.” (1985) and “The Legend of Zelda” (1986) on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) had intricate worlds and narratives.
This era also saw the rise of competitive gaming and the development of gaming communities.
However, the video game industry faced significant challenges, such as the market crash of 1983, triggered by an oversaturation of low-quality games. This crash profoundly affected the American market, but it also led to the dominance of Japanese companies like Nintendo and Sega in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These companies introduced quality control measures that helped stabilise the market and restore consumer confidence.
The 1990s brought about a further evolution with the introduction of 16-bit and later 32-bit systems, such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and the Sony PlayStation. These platforms introduced more complex graphics and sound, deeper storytelling, and introduced CDs, which allowed for greater data storage than cartridges.
Since the invention of computers, retro video games have taken a backseat – so why are Gen Z now playing them again?
Why Gen Z is becoming obsessed with retro video games
Here are some of the main reasons why retro video games have enjoyed an uptick in popularity for the younger generation:
Social media
Social media has a lot to answer for. The Guardian notes that the hashtag “retrogamingvideos” has gained 6 billion views on TikTok.
Of course, anyone who knows social media knows that it snowballs – as soon as a few people start watching or creating content about something, millions of others do. So, it’s no surprise that retro gaming has turned into a trend.
They’re new
Retro video games are somewhat new to Gen Z.
Some games, like slot machines found in pubs, have evolved – nowadays they’re more commonly played in online casinos. However, other games, like PacMan, faded into oblivion at the end of the 90s.
Some Gen Z-ers are getting a kick out of trying something new, perhaps that they’ve heard about from their parents. It’s the combination of newness and nostalgia that’s making retro games have another moment.
Simplicity
In today’s society, life can be complicated. The American Psychological Association mentions that the younger generation is “completely overwhelmed by stress”.
One of the best ways to combat stress? Kick back with something simple. While many Gen Z-ers enjoy gaming, modern games themselves can be more complicated (and even induce more stress!) – but retro games are refreshingly simple and satisfying, with predictable outcomes.
Community
As retro games have developed more of a following, there seems to be a growing community around them. Events like the London Gaming Market connect this community – and the feeling of togetherness is something that younger people crave for (especially as the virtual world can make us all rather disconnected!).
Final thoughts
Retro games seem to have had a resurgence, largely thanks to social media along with their satisfying gameplay.
While many of today’s players weren’t around during the retro gaming heyday, they are still enjoying the simplicity and nostalgia of games like PacMan.
With retro gaming bars and events popping up all over the world, who knows what could be next for these simple, no-nonsense games? In an overcomplicated world, they could be the low-pressure pastime that we all need!
In a shocking display of political violence, known Zanu PF hooligans physically attacked supporters of Advocate Nelson Chamisa during a Parliamentary public hearing on the Private Voluntary Organisation Amendment Bill.
The incident took place at the Civic Centre in Masvingo on Thursday, leaving Chamisa’s supporters, including civil society members, battered and bruised.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants were a group of inebriated youths affiliated with the ruling Zanu PF party. The hearing, intended to gather public input on the controversial bill, quickly descended into chaos as the intoxicated youths began to assault attendees. “It was terrifying,” said one resident who wished to remain anonymous.
“They were drunk and seemed intent on causing as much harm as possible.”
The Private Voluntary Organisation Amendment Bill has been a contentious issue, with many civil society groups arguing that it seeks to further restrict the operations of non-governmental organizations in Zimbabwe.
Critics fear the bill could be used to clamp down on dissent and limit the activities of groups that provide essential services and advocate for human rights.
A member of a local civil society organization, recounted the ordeal: “We were there to voice our concerns about the bill, but it quickly became clear that Zanu PF did not want to hear any opposing views. They attacked us without any provocation.”
The victim, who sustained minor injuries, added, “This kind of violence has no place in a democratic society.”
This incident is the latest in a series of violent episodes attributed to Zanu PF supporters, raising concerns about the state of political tolerance in Zimbabwe.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly called on the government to curb such acts of violence and ensure the safety of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.
The attack in Masvingo has drawn widespread condemnation from both local and international observers.
“The international community must take note of these violations,” urged a spokesperson for a leading human rights organization.
“Zimbabwe’s government needs to protect its citizens and uphold democratic principles, especially during such crucial public consultations.”
Advocate Chamisa and his supporters remain undeterred, however, vowing to continue their fight for democracy and justice.
“We will not be intimidated,” Chamisa’s supporters declared.
“Our resolve to build a better Zimbabwe is stronger than ever, and no amount of violence will deter us from this noble cause.”
The government is yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack.
Meanwhile, civil society groups are calling for an immediate investigation and the prosecution of those responsible for the violence at the Civic Centre.
Failed Coup in Kinshasa: Armed Conflict Leaves Three Dead, Multiple Arrests Including Foreign Nationals
By Farai D above | ZimEye | KINSHASA, May 19, 2024 – A tense morning in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) escalated into violence as the Congolese army thwarted an attempted coup, leading to the deaths of three individuals and the arrest of around 50 people, including foreign nationals. The government has declared the situation under control following early morning gunfire in the nation’s capital.
“The swift response by our defense and security forces has ensured that the coup was nipped in the bud. Our country’s peace and governance structure remains intact,” Brigadier General Sylvain Ekenge, a spokesperson for the Congolese army, stated during a press briefing. Ekenge confirmed that the deceased included two guards and one attacker, with the latter taking place at the residence of MP Vital Kamerhe.
The violence erupted around 4 a.m. local time with attacks at multiple locations including the presidential palace and the residence of Kamerhe, who is poised to become the next parliamentary speaker. The army identified the leader of the coup as Christian Malanga, a naturalized American and previously active Congolese political figure, who was killed during the raid on the presidential palace.
“In addition to Mr. Malanga, we have detained individuals from various nationalities including three American citizens and a British national involved in the plot,” Ekenge elaborated in his evening broadcast, revealing that Malanga’s son was among those apprehended.
A stray shell from the conflict crossed into the neighboring Republic of Congo, hitting the city of Brazzaville and injuring several civilians, one critically. The incident has raised tensions across the Congo River, prompting a sharp response from the neighboring country’s government.
US Ambassador to the DRC, Lucy Tamlyn, expressed deep concerns about the involvement of American nationals. “We are very concerned about these developments and assure full cooperation with DRC authorities to address these unlawful acts,” Tamlyn stated in a social media post. Earlier, the US embassy had issued a security alert advising of the volatile situation.
The United Nations’ stabilisation mission in the DRC also responded strongly to the events. “We condemn these violent attempts against DRC’s constitutional integrity in the strongest terms,” said Bintou Keita, head of the mission, extending the organization’s support to local authorities.
The Congolese government has been grappling with political instability, and today’s events further complicate the national landscape, especially as President Tshisekedi has been slow to establish a new government following his re-election.
As the Congolese authorities continue their investigations and interrogations of the arrested individuals, more details are expected to emerge about the motivations behind the attempted coup and the international connections possibly underlying it.

By Political Reporter- The Emerson Mnangagwa government has announced that about 1,300 White Zimbabwean commercial farmers whose land was seized in the early 2000s have signed up to receive compensation, and those who qualify will be paid in 10-year treasury bills.
“We now have to go through the process of vetting them and confirming the amounts that they are owed,” Andrew Bvumbe, head of debt management in the Ministry of Finance, said in an interview on Friday.
“With these 1,300, we want to move as quickly as possible. Maybe by the end of the third quarter of this year we want to get this out of the way.”
Under an accord signed in 2020, the government agreed to compensate 4,000 White farmers whose land was seized by state-backed militants, but it has repeatedly missed payment deadlines. It expects the compensation deal will cost it $3.5 billion over 10 years.
Payouts will be made for improvements that were made to farms, rather than the land itself, Bvumbe said.
“If others start seeing that we are acting, maybe the others will start coming in and they all be part of the whole process,” he said.

By Farai D Hove | Senior government sources have confirmed a startling incident involving socialite Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Titi, who faced reprimand from state security agents for filming President Emmerson Mnangagwa in a compromising situation. The incident took place at Mnangagwa’s Kwekwe farm, a location notorious for previous allegations of infidelity involving the ZANU PF leader.
“The incident happened at Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Kwekwe farm last Sunday, a property that is now notorious to the ZANU PF leader over matters to do within infidelity,” a senior government source revealed. Several videos in ZimEye’s possession confirm this meeting.
Mai Titi’s encounter with Mnangagwa and subsequent filming of the incident have sent shockwaves through Zimbabwean political circles. Witnesses claim that Mai Titi documented Mnangagwa’s intoxicated state and intimate interaction with the young woman, raising questions about the president’s behavior and privacy.
Mai Titi
“They visited her and briefly punished her before instructing her to delete every manner of footage that is online relating to the head of state,” an insider disclosed.
In an attempt to assert her power and intimidate online critics, Mai Titi initially uploaded the footage, where she was seen dressed similarly to the First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa. This move, accompanied by suggestive commentary, implied her closeness to the president and sparked speculation about her relationship with him.
ZimEye is about to offload more footage of the Head Of State following the uncompromising position he was found with the sociallite who is the age-mate of another accuser, Susan Mutami. (refresh this page for more.) FIRST VIDEO CLIP BELOW
Murata uploaded a video of Mnangagwa drunk, a clip she utilised to announce that she has powers against her critics on social media. The clip also suggested that Auxillia Mnangagwa is no longer regarded as Mnangagwa’s wife, as Murata titled herself the people’s mother who spent the day with Mnangagwa at his Kwekwe farm.
However, Mai Titi’s actions quickly drew the attention of authorities, who instructed her to remove all traces of the footage and refrain from discussing the incident. Despite efforts to obtain comments from Mai Titi and State House, no official statements were forthcoming at the time of reporting.
The first lady was still to make a statement over the matter. Further attempts to obtain a comment from State House failed at the time of writing,
The incident underscores the complex dynamics of power and influence in Zimbabwean politics, as well as the potential risks faced by those who challenge or expose the behavior of high-ranking officials. As the story continues to unfold, questions remain about the motivations behind Mai Titi’s actions and the repercussions she may face for her boldness in confronting authority.

Ponzi Scheme Directly Controlled by Professor Welshman Ncube Faces Legal Challenges Amid AGM Announcement.
By Business Reporter| Sithule Tshuma, a key operator in a Ponzi scheme directly controlled by Professor Welshman Ncube, has announced an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for a subgroup involved in this fraudulent operation, known as Woodville. This announcement comes amid ongoing legal turmoil, with over 27 investors having already secured quick-refunds through multiple court verdicts between Zimbabwe and the UK.
Was it voluntary work when you @Welshman_Ncube popped up representing Sithule Tshuma at Bulawayo Central Police Station?(When Ezra Sibanda reported Sithule Tshuma for cyber bullying, you went to Bulawayo Central Police Station to put a statement with the cops investigating the… https://t.co/8FBIlBDbE3
Professor Welshman Ncube exerts comprehensive control over this scheme at three critical levels: he is the legal representative for both the scheme’s founders and the defrauded victims, and he oversees his publicist, Jimmy Chasafara, a principal accomplice in the scam. The scheme has been a lucrative fraud, deceptively raising over USD 25 million by predominantly selling agricultural land to unsuspecting diaspora women with false promises of converting these lands into residential plots.
The scheduled AGM, set for June 1, 2024, at the Holiday Inn on Minerton Drive, Bulawayo, at 09:00 hours, is seen as a strategic move by Tshuma to potentially deflect responsibility. The announced agenda “to map a way forward with TCI” has intensified concerns among investors about a possible ploy to transfer liability to another entity, risking their ability to claim rightful refunds.
Legal experts are advising investors to skip the AGM and instead take direct action by formally demanding their refunds in writing, emphasizing the established fraudulent nature of the scheme. This case continues to unfold, with ongoing coverage and detailed analysis available on the ZimEye news network, shedding light on the ramifications for Professor Ncube’s political influence and the affected members of the diaspora.- ZimEye
By Court Correspondent | The High Court of Zimbabwe has reserved judgment on the bail application of Neville Mutsvangwa, who now faces the prospect of spending another weekend in remand prison. Mutsvangwa, implicated in serious allegations, is charged with three counts of illegal foreign currency dealings and one count of possessing an unlicensed Starlink router. These charges place him at the center of a notable legal and economic controversy.
Josephine Sande, Mutsvangwa’s legal representative, presented arguments for bail, contending that the prosecution’s case against her client and his co-accused—Elias Majachani and Simbarashe Tichingana—is weak. Sande criticized the remand court’s decision to deny bail, asserting that it was based on erroneous considerations. She argued that the evidence against Mutsvangwa, which included several Visa cards seized from his residence in Mount Pleasant, was not only insubstantial but also irrelevant to the charges of illegal currency trading and money laundering.
Sande’s legal argument emphasized that mere possession of Visa cards does not constitute a criminal offense nor does it necessarily imply involvement in illicit financial activities. This point is pivotal in challenging the assumptions underpinning the prosecution’s case and the remand court’s rationale for denying bail.
The decision by Mr. Mangosi in the magistrates’ court to deny bail was predicated on the fear that Mutsvangwa and his co-accused might abscond if released. This concern is typical in cases involving significant financial crimes, where the stakes are high and the accused have the means to evade legal proceedings. The court’s caution is reflective of a broader judicial discretion intended to prevent interference with the administration of justice.
The High Court’s reservation of judgment indicates a deliberate and careful consideration of the arguments presented by both the defense and the prosecution. This pause in the decision-making process signifies the complexities involved in balancing the rights of the accused with the interests of public and economic security.

By Sports Reporter | ZimEye | In a tightly contested matchup that unfolded at UFC Vegas 92, Themba Gorimbo emerged victorious in a unanimous decision over Ramiz Brahimaj. The fight, while lacking in explosive exchanges, showcased Gorimbo’s tactical prowess and resilience in the face of Brahimaj’s relentless pressure.

Throughout the bout, Gorimbo strategically utilized his height and strength advantage to control the pace of the fight, particularly in the clinch where he repeatedly outmuscled Brahimaj along the fence. Despite Brahimaj’s attempts to execute trips and takedowns, Gorimbo showcased impeccable defense, thwarting his opponent’s grappling advances and maintaining dominant positions.
While the fight may have lacked the fireworks expected by fans, every victory counts in the unforgiving arena of mixed martial arts. For Gorimbo, this win holds a deeper significance as he dedicated his triumph to the memory of his boxing coach’s mother, who tragically succumbed to cancer just a week prior. This poignant gesture adds a layer of emotion to Gorimbo’s victory, highlighting the camaraderie and support within the MMA community.
With this triumph, Gorimbo solidifies his position as a rising star in the welterweight division, extending his winning streak to three consecutive victories inside the Octagon. By Donald J Mamba | Comment | Jacob Zuma defeating the African National Congress (ANC) in the May 2024 election involves several complex factors, including his political influence, public perception, and the dynamics within South African politics. As of now, several points should be considered:
1. Jacob Zuma’s Political Position: Zuma has been a divisive figure within the ANC and South African politics at large. His presidency was marred by allegations of corruption and governance challenges, which have damaged his reputation and influence. His ability to challenge the ANC directly or lead another party to victory against it would heavily depend on his ability to rehabilitate his political image and gather significant support.
2. Formation of a New Party or Coalition: If Zuma were to attempt to defeat the ANC, he would likely need to either form a new political party or align with existing opposition parties. The success of such a venture would depend on his ability to present a credible alternative to the ANC, attracting a broad base of support that transcends his traditional Zulu base and personal loyalists.
3. Public and Voter Sentiment: The South African public’s trust in Jacob Zuma has been severely impacted by his legal troubles and the general perception of his administration’s governance. Overcoming this sentiment and persuading a majority of voters to support him or his platform against the ANC would require significant shifts in public opinion, likely driven by new political narratives or significant socio-economic developments.
4. ANC’s Dominance: The ANC has been the dominant political force in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994. Despite internal factions and decreasing popularity due to various issues, the party retains a strong organizational structure and significant electoral support. Overcoming this would require a monumental and coordinated effort.
In a heated exchange of accusations, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, has accused Job Sikhala of betraying Zimbabwe by aligning with foreign adversaries.
The controversy arose following Sikhala’s remarks at the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy earlier this week, where he condemned Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration for tormenting citizens.
Sikhala, a prominent opposition figure, took the international stage to criticize the Zimbabwean government, highlighting what he described as systemic oppression and human rights abuses.
His speech resonated with many human rights advocates, but it drew sharp criticism from within his own political sphere.
In a scathing response, Tshabangu lambasted Sikhala for his comments, suggesting that his actions were counterproductive to the country’s progress.
“I beg to differ with Sikhala,” Tshabangu stated emphatically. “Instead of teaming up with fellow Zimbabweans in the fight for a better Zimbabwe, he finds comfort in the wings of Zimbabwe’s enemies. This isn’t good politics; lies have short legs.”
Tshabangu’s remarks underscore a significant rift within the opposition, highlighting a fundamental disagreement on the approach to political activism and engagement with international bodies.
He stressed the importance of unity and a patriotic approach to politics, suggesting that aligning with external forces undermines national integrity. “I still stand with the notion of patriotism and nationalistic politics,” Tshabangu declared, reaffirming his commitment to a more inward-focused strategy.
This clash between Sikhala and Tshabangu reflects broader tensions within Zimbabwe’s opposition movement, as leaders grapple with the best methods to challenge the ruling party and advocate for democratic reforms.
While Sikhala’s international outreach aims to garner global support and attention, Tshabangu’s critique suggests a preference for domestic solidarity and collective action among Zimbabweans.
The debate over how to effectively push for change in Zimbabwe continues to be a contentious issue, with significant implications for the country’s political landscape.
By Farai D Hove | The promise by the Zimbabwean government to compensate dispossessed white farmers raises significant questions about its feasibility and sincerity, given the historical context and ongoing socio-political dynamics in Zimbabwe.
Former white farmers at a special ZANU PF campaign meeting ahead of the 2018 elections.
Historical Context and Delays
The land reform program that began in 2000 was marked by violence and controversy, leading to a significant reduction in agricultural output and economic turmoil. The move to compensate now, after more than two decades, signals a shift but must be viewed with skepticism due to past delays. The agreement to compensate was signed in 2020, yet the fact that no payments have been made as promised exacerbates concerns about the government’s reliability and capacity to fulfill such commitments.
**Government’s Financial Capacity**: Zimbabwe is grappling with severe economic challenges, including hyperinflation, debt, and currency instability. The plan to issue 10-year treasury bills worth $3.5 billion for compensation raises questions about the practicality of funding these commitments through debt in an already strained economy. The choice of treasury bills as a mode of compensation also hinges on the government’s future economic stability, which is uncertain.
**Geopolitical Considerations and FDI**: The compensation agreement could be seen as a strategic move to appease international stakeholders, particularly in the context of sanctions and the need to attract foreign direct investment (FDI). By aligning its policies with global property rights norms, Zimbabwe aims to rehabilitate its international image. However, this approach must be balanced against internal dissent and the broader historical grievances concerning land ownership and economic disparity.
**Internal Opposition and Social Unrest**: The agreement predominantly involves the former white commercial farmers, sidelining broader sections of the Zimbabwean population, including indigenous groups and former farm workers who also suffered due to land reforms. This selective compensation could fuel further social unrest and opposition, as it appears to prioritize a minority over the majority who have been historically marginalized.
**Legal and Policy Implications**: The focus on compensating for improvements on the land rather than the land itself is a legal maneuver that aligns with Zimbabwe’s constitution but does not address the complete spectrum of losses incurred by the farmers. This partial compensation may be seen as insufficient and could lead to continued legal and political challenges.
**Long-term Implications**: The compensation deal, while potentially stabilizing in the short term, might not address long-standing issues of land distribution and economic inequality in Zimbabwe. The ongoing emphasis on appeasing international interests might overshadow necessary domestic reforms, perpetuating cycles of dependency and instability.
To offer a more comprehensive analysis of the situation regarding Zimbabwe’s commitment to compensate dispossessed white farmers, integrating relevant quotes can provide depth and perspective:
**On Government Commitment and Delays**:
1. Andrew Bvumbe, head of debt management in the Ministry of Finance, optimistically stated, “With these 1,300, we want to move as quickly as possible. Maybe by the end of the third quarter of this year we want to get this out of the way.” However, the historical context begs skepticism, as promised deadlines have consistently been missed.
**On Financial Viability**:
2. The use of treasury bills as compensation mechanism is critical here. Toendepi Shonhe noted, “The Global Compensation Deed agreement…is expected to bring closure to the long-outstanding land dispute.” Yet, considering Zimbabwe’s economic instability, the reliance on such financial instruments might be overly optimistic or even impractical given the government’s fiscal constraints.
**On Geopolitical Motivations and FDI**:
3. Shonhe elaborates on geopolitical influences: “This step is consistent with the ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ mantra adopted after the November 2017 coup…It is premised on the idea that appeasing global economic powers opens up access to foreign direct investment (FDI).” This statement underlines the strategic nature of the compensation deal, aiming to enhance Zimbabwe’s global standing but possibly at the expense of internal cohesion.
**On Internal Dissent and Social Implications**:
4. The selective nature of the compensation is highlighted by Shonhe’s critique: “Most Zimbabweans were excluded from the deliberations…It is little wonder there is broad opposition from varied sections of the population.” This points to a significant oversight in the government’s approach, potentially igniting further discontent among those who feel marginalized by the policy.
**On Legal and Policy Concerns**:
5. Shonhe also points out a key limitation of the compensation framework: “The first of these arguments is based on the issue of full respect for property rights… However, Section 72 (3) of Zimbabwe’s constitution only covers ‘improvements’, not the land itself.” This legal nuance suggests that the compensation, while appearing comprehensive, actually skirts around more profound issues of land ownership and rights.
**On Long-Term Outlook**:
6. Lastly, Shonhe warns about the long-term implications: “Nevertheless, this renders no excuse for the ongoing corruption and unrelenting human rights abuses in Zimbabwe today.” This observation serves as a reminder that resolving the compensation issue won’t necessarily address deeper systemic problems within Zimbabwe, including governance and human rights, which continue to undermine the country’s stability and development.
These quotes and insights emphasize the complexity and contentious nature of Zimbabwe’s commitment to compensate dispossessed white farmers, illustrating a blend of optimism from government officials and skepticism from researchers and broader societal segments.
HARARE — In a commitment shadowed by ongoing financial scandals involving millions of US dollars in tender money leaks linked to convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivayo, the Zimbabwean government has vowed minimal load shedding this winter. Energy Minister Edgar Moyo assured the public that load shedding would not exceed “Stage One,” despite significant challenges facing the region’s power supply.
Chivayo, who has been implicated in siphoning tender contracts of over a quarter of a billion US dollars from government funds, has been a central figure in controversies surrounding misallocated resources for power projects. Despite these financial leaks and significant losses incurred, the government asserts that power management will be effectively handled this season.
Quoted by state-owned media, Minister Moyo expressed, “We have made several plans to ensure that the winter power supply situation is better than expected and we are not expecting to exceed Stage One load shedding despite the power crisis in the region.”
He detailed the strategies for stabilizing the power supply, including “maximum generation at the Hwange Units 7 and 8, which are consistently producing over 600MW; Hwange Units 1-6 are performing fairly well, producing an average of 300MW from the enhanced maintenance and prioritization of critical spares.”
Furthermore, Moyo highlighted that “Kariba dispatch is being optimized to produce an average of 250MW, with peak supply up to 400MW.” He also mentioned the ongoing import arrangements and the active participation of the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (Zetdc) in the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) Day Ahead Market, which allows Zimbabwe to access any excess power from the region.
These assurances come at a time when public confidence in government operations is low, particularly due to the substantial financial mismanagement linked to Chivayo’s activities. The government’s commitment to maintaining a stable power supply despite these issues is seen as a critical step in addressing both the immediate needs of the nation and restoring trust in its ability to manage essential services effectively.- Agencies

Xavi Hernandez’s future as the head coach of Barcelona has been plugged into doubt again following his comments that have reportedly angered the club’s board.
Xavi only announced a few weeks ago that he is staying at the Catalan giants after having announced previously that he would be departing at the end of the season.
But in a turn of events, Barca president Joan Laporta has reportedly been urged by the other board members to sack the coach after commenting on the financial status of the club.
He said ahead of their game against Almeria on Thursday: “The Culé must understand that the situation is very complicated to compete economically.
“It has nothing to do with what we had 25 years ago when the coach would come and say ‘I want this one, this one, and this one’. It doesn’t work like that anymore.
“I understand that and that’s how we’re going to adjust to it. That doesn’t mean we’re not going to compete.
We need stability and time. There are good things to compete for. The situation we are in is the situation we are in in terms of results.”
Barcelona directors are believed to be furious for his public addressal of the club’s financial position ahead of the conclusion of the Spanish top-flight season, as reported by RAC1.
President Laporta was left so outraged by the media statement made by his team manager that he is now considering terminating Xavi’s contract, which would mean a late scramble to find a replacement before the transfer window opens.

Harare is Zimbabwe’s beating heart. It is the home of culture, commerce, and of course, entertainment. It’s already well known for its rich history, but is there untapped potential for Harare to make a name for itself as the casino capital of the country? Not only would the transformation into an entertainment hotspot create a big boost to the economy, but it could attract even more tourism too.
As it stands, Harare already has a handful of casinos. They appeal to both locals, Zimbabwean tourists, and international travellers. Each contributes to the city in terms of taxes and employment opportunities. However, in order to really make a name, Harare needs to double down on its efforts. Below are some of the ways that the city could do this.
First, A Little Background
For people who aren’t already casino fanatics, the appeal can be difficult to see. If you’ve never played before then a casino guide is all you need to get started. Slot machines tend to be the easiest for beginners, as you don’t need to be good at math to get results. It’s no coincidence that all of Harare’s casinos have slots as their main game. They’re easy for domestic and international visitors to get started with and require less guidance from croupiers.
Of course, table games are important too. Many people enjoy the glamour of visiting a casino. The spin of a roulette wheel or roll of the dice is somehow more glamorous than spinning the reels of the slot machine. All of Harare’s current casinos have a selection of table games, which any new additions will want to keep in mind.
The Full Tourist Package
Victoria Falls are within striking distance of Harare
Now that we’ve covered the appeal of a casino, it’s time to talk about how Harare could make this work. Harare is uniquely positioned in close proximity to famous tourist attractions. Victoria Falls and theGreat Zimbabwe Ruins are all within easy travelling distance of the city. If travel packages including a stay at a casino resort were combined with Harare’s unique cultural sites, then the city could draw in an array of travellers with different interests. Already the Mazowe Casino Hotel offers stunning rooms, alongside a full casino. Creating further luxury accommodations with pre-planned packages to these destinations would surely bolster tourist numbers.
Employing a Strong Regulatory Framework
One of the biggest stumbling blocks when creating a casino hub is not understanding the framework properly, or not implementing any at all. It’s not enough for casinos to appear to be trustworthy, they need to be completely transparent in everything that they do, while also adhering to guidelines. Ensuring that machines are regularly audited for fairness and croupiers are given proper training is just the beginning of how Harare’s ‘casino handbook’ could look. With clear regulations in place, tourists could feel confident to come and play in this city, knowing they’re getting a fair deal. As well as this, companies with the funds to build casinos could be confident that their establishments will be overseen properly.
The Human Touch
As well as regulations and physical infrastructure, there always needs to be a human touch. Casino resorts bring with them bountiful job opportunities, but only for those who are properly qualified. In order to ensure that Harare is properly prepared to make these resorts work, training programs and educational initiatives could be set up. These could help local people to upskill, enabling them to find success within the hospitality sector.
Outside of employment, finding a way to embody the community of Harare could be a unique selling point of these establishments. Encompassing art from local communities, or images from Harare’s history are unique ways to bring the ‘flavor’ of the city to the resorts. With such a rich background, Harare’s culture could bring a whole new dimension to these casino destinations, helping them to stand out from the rest of the world.
Understanding Respect for Women: Navigating Heartbreak and Control
By Showbiz Analyst | In the complex landscape of relationships, particularly within the context of financial support and education, the issue of control often arises, especially when men find themselves grappling with heartbreak after investing in their partner’s education, only to feel betrayed when the relationship ends upon her graduation. This scenario raises pertinent questions about respect, agency, and the misconception of ownership within relationships.
Investing in a partner’s education, whether it be through paying for university fees or supporting them financially, is undoubtedly a noble gesture. It demonstrates commitment, support, and a belief in their potential. However, it should never be misconstrued as a means to gain control over the individual.
Respect in relationships transcends financial contributions. It encompasses mutual trust, understanding, and the acknowledgment of each other’s autonomy. The decision to support a partner’s education should stem from a place of genuine care and support, rather than an expectation of reciprocity or control.
The aftermath of a breakup can be emotionally tumultuous, especially when compounded by financial investments. However, it is essential to recognize that financial support does not entitle one to control over the other person’s decisions or actions. Each individual retains agency over their life choices, including the decision to end a relationship.
Moreover, the notion of controlling a partner, regardless of financial contributions, is inherently problematic and antithetical to the principles of respect and equality. Relationships thrive on mutual respect, communication, and compromise, not on power dynamics or manipulation.
The belief that financial support grants ownership or control over a partner perpetuates harmful stereotypes and reinforces unequal power dynamics. It diminishes the autonomy and agency of the individual receiving support, reducing them to mere objects of possession rather than equal partners in a relationship.
Instead of viewing financial support as a transactional exchange for control, it should be approached as a collaborative effort aimed at fostering personal growth and empowerment. True respect for women (or any partner) involves recognizing and valuing their autonomy, aspirations, and independence, regardless of financial contributions.
In conclusion, while the pain of heartbreak and the perceived loss of investment may be profound, it is essential to separate financial support from notions of control in relationships. Respect for women, or any partner, demands the recognition of their autonomy and agency, irrespective of financial investments. Ultimately, true respect transcends material possessions and is rooted in mutual understanding, trust, and equality.

By Political Correspondent- The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) says Zimbabwe is now the largest source of migrants in the region.
Speaking on behalf of IOM Chief of Mission Dyane Epstein, Migration Health Chief and Officer Thomas Kalasani revealed that more Zimbabweans have emigrated from their home country than from any other southern African nation.
Kalasani delivered this information on Wednesday during the official launch at the Old Memorial Hospital in Bulawayo.
He stated: “The current global projection is that there are approximately 281 million international migrants in the world, accounting for 3.6% of the global population.”
According to the World Report 2020, Zimbabwe leads as the largest source of migrants in southern Africa. Many Zimbabweans are migrating to other regions, including the Middle East, in search of economic opportunities. The Zimbabwean government has been actively involved in ensuring the safe return of its citizens who have fallen victim to human trafficking in these regions.
Millions of Zimbabweans, both documented and undocumented, have left the country, with the majority residing in South Africa as economic refugees. Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe informed NewsDay that the government aims to simplify passport access for Zimbabweans living abroad. He said, “We have already started decentralisation of the passport offices, which will assist migrants in accessing national documentation easily. We have also initiated processes to ensure that applications for these vital documents can be done online to facilitate the ease of doing business both locally and for our citizens abroad.”
In line with these efforts, the government announced it will begin processing e-passports at its embassy in South Africa this week. Officials from the Registrar General’s department will be deployed to support consulate staff. Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Raphael Faranisi, confirmed that all preparations are in place to start issuing e-passports at the e-passport processing centre in Johannesburg this week.

A scheduled Parliamentary public hearing on the Private Voluntary Organisation Amendment Bill descended into chaos as Zanu PF hooligans disrupted proceedings at the Civic Centre in Masvingo yesterday (Thursday).
The unruly behaviour of the individuals has raised serious concerns about the state of public discourse and the safety of civic engagement in Zimbabwe.
Witnesses described a scene of disorder as visibly drunk youths, identified as Zanu PF supporters, stormed the hearing.
They shouted insults at parliamentarians and physically attacked members of civil society and opposition supporters who had gathered to participate in the consultations.
One eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the mayhem: “It was absolute chaos.
These youths were out of control, yelling obscenities and physically intimidating anyone who didn’t align with their views. It was clear they had one objective – to derail the hearing.”
Another attendee, a member of a local NGO, condemned the intimidation tactics used by the hooligans: “They were aggressive and menacing, making it impossible for a constructive discussion to take place. This is a serious blow to democracy and the freedom to express dissenting opinions.”
The hearing was intended to gather public input on the controversial amendment bill, which aims to regulate the operations of private voluntary organizations in Zimbabwe.
Critics argue that the bill is a thinly veiled attempt by the government to stifle civil society and clamp down on dissent.
A political observer present at the hearing, who chose to remain unnamed for safety reasons, condemned the violence: “This is not how democratic processes should unfold. We are here to listen to the people, but it is impossible to do so under such hostile conditions. This kind of behavior undermines the very foundation of our democracy.”
Members of the opposition also expressed their outrage.
“This orchestrated disruption is a clear tactic by Zanu PF to silence critical voices and impede democratic engagement,” said one opposition leader.
“We demand that the perpetrators be held accountable and that future hearings be protected from such intimidation.”
The disruption of this parliamentary public hearing by Zanu PF hooligans is a troubling indicator of the challenges facing democratic processes in Zimbabwe.
As the nation grapples with issues of governance and civil liberties, the need for open and safe public discourse remains paramount.
ED Denies Heroes’ Burial to Loyal Minister Amidst Plans to Relocate Mugabe’s Remains
By A Correspondent | Emmerson Mnangagwa has decided not to grant a heroes’ burial to Eunice Sandi Moyo, the former Minister of State for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, despite her longstanding service and dedication. Instead, she will receive a state-assisted funeral, typically reserved for lower-ranking civilians.
The decision comes at a critical time when President Mnangagwa is also planning to relocate the remains of the late President Robert Mugabe, further stirring political tensions.
Eunice Sandi Moyo passed away last Thursday at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo after battling hypertension. President Mnangagwa expressed his condolences, recognizing her as a “staunch veteran nationalist” deeply involved in the liberation politics of Zimbabwe. He noted her significant contributions to the Bulawayo province and the nation, particularly her efforts to advance national development through community engagement.
Despite these accolades, the decision to deny her a heroes’ burial has raised questions about the criteria and political dynamics influencing such honors under Mnangagwa’s administration.
The late minister will be remembered for her role in anticipating and implementing the Policy on Devolution, which aimed at balanced, community-specific development. This policy, according to Mnangagwa, became a cornerstone of the Second Republic.
In his statement, Mnangagwa said, “I am humbled to grant Mama Sandi Moyo the honour of a State Assisted Funeral and burial. May her family’s grief be assuaged by the high regard she earned and deserved from all of us who worked and interacted with her. May her dear soul rest in eternal peace.”
This decision marks a significant moment in Zimbabwean politics, reflecting the complexities and potentially changing loyalties within the ruling party. As the nation continues to deal with the legacies of its leaders, the community watches closely to see how these decisions will influence the political landscape.

She died at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo.
Her daughter, Phoebe, expressed the family’s devastation but highlighted Moyo’s dedication to her family and country.
“We are heartbroken,” Phoebe stated, “but we take solace in knowing how much she loved and served her family and nation.”
Zanu PF Politburo member Retired Col Tshinga Dube remembered Moyo’s contributions from the struggle for independence to her work in government.
“Eunice was a stalwart of our liberation movement and a dedicated public servant. Her legacy in both the struggle and in government will not be forgotten,” Dube remarked.

BY DR. MASIMBA MAVAZA | Ambassador Mutsvangwa returned home today from Maputo, Mozambique. Despite the troubling rumors and issues surrounding him and his family, Ambassador Mutsvangwa has continued to serve his country commendably.
It is often said that those who truly value freedom are willing to sacrifice their lives for their country. This usually conjures images of brave acts in the face of enemy threats or perilous missions that demand the ultimate commitment, often leading to heroic yet tragic outcomes.
Cde Chris Mutsvangwa has managed to balance serving his country with addressing his son’s legal issues as a devoted family man and father. He has risen above all rumors, continuing to represent both his country and his president with distinction. Despite baseless rumors of a rift with the president, he has proven his detractors wrong by meeting with mutual friends and colleagues in Mozambique on party-related duties.
While in Maputo, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa also worked on setting up commercial mechanisms to attract investments and promote unimpeded capital flow, enhancing cross-investment between the two sister nations. They are inspired by the post-Second World War Franco-German Union, which laid the groundwork for today’s European Union. Harare and Maputo are poised to refine and elevate this model to new heights of shared prosperity.
Although such sacrifices are often celebrated, the call to give one’s life for their country entails more than a heroic end. Cde Mutsvangwa has engaged in business, fostering cordial relations and promoting Zimbabwean interests. During his trip to Maputo, Ambassador Mutsvangwa met with high-ranking officials from FRELIMO and war veterans, participating in high-profile meetings for the nation’s benefit. He extended his best wishes to FRELIMO for a resounding electoral victory on October 7.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa has denied accusing Vice President Chiwenga of any wrongdoing. He stated, “Every member of our party sacrifices daily—some sacrifices are large, others small; some are deliberate, others instinctive—all for our great nation. I will not fall into a trap set by our enemies to create disturbances in our party.” Many of these dedicated individuals might not realize that they are indeed giving their lives for their country by sacrificing their comfort, families, and personal lives to put ‘Service before Self.’ This selflessness is crucial for the success of both our military and our nation.
This epitome of service is a fundamental element of “followership.” Despite current concerns, which will eventually be resolved, in ZANU PF we understand that our country needs individuals who are ready to lead and make sacrifices to maintain peace and preserve our liberty and freedom. Commenting on the bravery shown by Mutsvangwa in dealing with personal challenges, Dr. Matambo, a political commentator, said, “Mutsvangwa is a hero. By persisting in the face of adversity, he writes a narrative of bravery, competence, and sacrifice, which are incredibly relevant in today’s service to the nation.”
The fact that the Mutsvangwa family works tirelessly without resentment demonstrates their unconditional dedication. Both would have readily given their lives for their nation. Moreover, they continue to serve by mentoring the current generation of Zimbabweans and contributing their time and talents to the nation.
Followership and sacrifice are qualities exemplified by Ambassador Mutsvangwa as he represents the president despite any challenges. Zimbabwe benefits daily from the sacrifices of numerous citizens. Ambassador Mutsvangwa, embracing the same ethos of serving others before himself, is a testament to this. Dr. Matambo noted, “By engaging in national and party affairs, the Mutsvangwas are, unequivocally, prepared to lay down their lives for their country while also supporting their son and letting the law take its course.”
Cde Mutsvangwa’s dedication to ‘Service before Self’ clearly shows that commitment and sacrifice are qualities embedded in the Mutsvangwa family daily. His recent trip to Mozambique also aimed to reignite the spirit of national defense, liberation, and glorification, calling upon individuals to make sacrifices out of loyalty, sometimes even to the extent of giving their lives for the nation.
