Beitbridge Regional Magistrate lnnocent Bepura remanded Proud Murambadoro (23) of 11 Combat Brigade in Bulawayo in custody until July 4, 2023.
Murambadoro allegedly shot Hardlife Ndou of Chikuvava Village, Chief Matibe, in Beitbridge on May 30, 2023, around 5 pm.
Circumstances are that Ndou and Joseph Mbedzi gave Murambadoro a lift. He was going to a military base.
Murambadoro then allegedly ordered Ndou to take him back to a mine where he was coming from. Ndou refused and argued that the cart did not belong to him.
Ndou dropped Mbedzi and Murambadoro at the base and proceeded to the shop to leave the cart.

By A Correspondent| Presidential candidate Joseph Makamba Busha has been accused of appearing on nomination day as part of a Zanu PF scheme to deprive Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Nelson Chamisa of the first position on the ballot paper.
Busha leads the FreeZim Congress and successfully filed his nomination papers to contest in the 23 August presidential election results.
Based on the names of candidates who filed their nomination papers, Busha will once again be the first name on the ballot paper followed by Chamisa as was the case in 2018.

This was also said by journalist Stanley Gama who questioned Busha’s sincerity accusing the top businessman of only appearing on the ballot paper to make sure Chamisa is not the first.
“This Busha guy is he genuine? His mission seems to be only appearing on the ballot paper as a Presidential candidate only to make sure that @nelsonchamisa name doesn’t come first on the list. It’s clearly a deliberate operation. Who will vote for this clown surely?,” said Gama.
Analyzing the mistakes OceanGate made that led to the vessel’s disappearance, critics told reporters Thursday that the submersible should have been tested with poorer passengers first.
“The company skipped the very crucial step of sending five lower-class people to the bottom of the ocean to make sure it was safe enough for the wealthy,” said Otto Scofield, a member of the Marine Technology Society, adding that no one with a net worth above $50,000 should have been in the submersible.
“OceanGate made the mistake of not using minimum wage workers and unemployed people on government welfare programs to test the seaworthiness of the craft, which was not billionaire-ready.
Running more trials with some homeless people would have made all the difference, and the deaths of several wealthy people could have been prevented.”
Scofield continued that using children of color from impoverished families would have been ideal as more would have been able to fit inside the submersible.
THE opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has accused Zanu PF of causing confusion in the nomination process in which it ended up fielding double and in some cases triple nominations across the country.
Addressing a Press conference in Harare late yesterday, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said Zanu PF forged signatures on nomination papers to cause chaos after it failed to penetrate the party’s systems.
“Zanu PF failed to penetrate our systems and what did they do, they went and forged our signatures and created 20 odd double candidates that you see across the country for National Assembly and a number of them in wards across the country,” she said.
Mahere said they discovered double nominations in 20 provinces and the matter had since been reported to the police, and an appeal with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) had also been filed.
“We have filed objections in terms of the Electoral Act to people whose names appear as our candidates and were not signed for by us. The second issue is (that) criminal reports have been made to the police in Masvingo and other constituencies because this is a fraud, it’s criminal,” Mahere said.
“In some cases, we have a candidate who says well my money was paid and papers filed but not by me, I don’t know who filed these, there is someone clearly behind that,” she said.
Mahere said they would be going to court since they had sufficient evidence to prove there was fraud because the forms of those involved in double nomination had dubious logos and wrong signatures.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF has distanced itself from the chaos in the CCC saying it was satisfied with its own nomination process and was expecting victory in the August 23 polls.
Self-exiled former Zanu PF political commissar and Cabinet minister Saviour Kasukuwere, who has joined the presidential race for the August 23 harmonised elections yesterday said President Emmerson Mnangagwa must not weaponise institutions against opponents.
Kasukuwere, who was hounded out of the country during the November 2017 military coup that toppled the late former President Robert Mugabe, is in South Africa.
In his “roadmap to a better Zimbabwe” address in South Africa yesterday, Kasukuwere said he entered the presidential race knowing that it was never going to be easy because he believed in the cause.
“We trust that now we are in an election period you (Mnangagwa) can’t weaponise institutions against your opponents. I am sure this is an election that everyone wants to proceed smoothly so that the outcome is not contested.
“We have to take security issues into consideration, you don’t board the plane (as) passenger 34 and just rock up without doing some preparatory work. We did exactly that to see the reaction and very interesting results came our way,” he said.
He continued: “Yes, we were concerned and we are still very concerned (security-wise) and will be raising these issues with relevant institutions. We have our Sadc body; we have the monitoring teams that will be coming into our country. It’s important that every contestant is protected, is secure.”
Kasukuwere said good treatment of opponents had a positive impact on the country’s tattered reputation and would restore Zimbabwe’s image in the international stage.
“So, allow our country to be back on the international stage and we the participants and contestants are all able to say this was a good election, we had a good fight, but at the end of the day we are still brothers and sisters.”
“After counting (the votes), and somebody has emerged (the winner) and we know we will be emerging very strong, then you can start arresting others if you want to arrest others, but the game is not about arresting people, let’s go to the ground and campaign. Let’s tell the people what we can do or that we can’t do.”
Kasukuwere said he would be in the country soon for his campaign launch.
Kasukuwere said the country was at a decisive moment as it was contesting degeneration and elite capture of the State and regression to the past.
“Post-2017, November, together we all gave the new dispensation the leadership space to govern, the leadership space to unite our people, the leadership space to provide a new vision and direction for our great country.
“In his 2018 campaign, Emmerson Mnangagwa promised to deliver healthcare for all, the answer is failure, he promised to create jobs for the youth, I am not sure if any one young person has been able to get employed in the past five years, he failed.”

By Noxolo Ndazi | Qoki Zindlovukazi!, a name that was synonymous with women empowerment, community development and charity activities. Presently, the same name does not live to its status quo. It is marred by gross incompetence and fraudulent activities. It is important to note that Qoki was founded on the premise of a Community Interest Company (C.I.C) with a charitable status. Women came together to support charitable causes, pooled money together for mini projects from as little as buying each other kitchenware to solar systems etc. The vision expanded to property and recently property development, which would prove to be a gigantic challenge. As the horizon extended it necessitated a change in company formation. It was then registered in multiple names to suit the cause. The brand grew phenomenally and beyond the founders’ capabilities.
They lacked business acumen, etiquette and corporate responsibility. Qoki failed to tap into its wealth of expertise and unique blend of skills of its members, to optimise the execution of their projects. There is no profession that the writer can think of that is not found amongst the investors, legal, accounting, business, project management, civil engineering just to mention a few relevant ones. Sadly, the projects were personalised to the detriment of success, self sabotage in its purest form.
Furthermore, lack of structure and binding contracts for big projects like land purchase and development led to the anarchy as investors felt they were losing control of their investment. Greed and corruption can easily takeover when there’s no accountability and when the leader of the project has too much power. It is important to have a clear set of rules and regulations that are followed by everyone involved in the project, and to ensure that everyone is held accountable for their actions.
Additionally, it is important to have a system of checks and balances in place to ensure that no one person has too much power. This is by far the biggest problem at Qoki across all projects. Ms Sithule Tshuma and her right hand person Ms Karen Kumalo run the show without consulting the stakeholders. They make it seem as if people are buying something from them when in contrary people have pooled their funds together for whatever cause. In another example, the lawyer, Mr Zibusiso Ncube represented both the buyer and the seller in most projects thereby compromising buyers’ protection. If there had been some gatekeeping measures most problems, such as, inflated prices, could have been avoided. Purchases would not have proceeded without valid title deeds. To complicate things further there was conflict of interest with Mr Ncube’s appointment as a conveyancer for these projects by virtue of being a Qoki and Ms Tshuma’s personal lawyer. The ladies were left vulnerable despite paying lawyer’s fees.
Mr Ncube is quoted below: “Whilst I’m engaged to attend to the transfer of the property and paid for that, I will not be engaged in entertaining other correspondence outside the group unless I am paid by the individuals to do so. Remember a lawyer’s time and advice are his stock in trade.” Mr Z.C. Ncube.
Crowdfunded projects are communal and as such warranty a lot of transparency and an inclusive style of management. Funds are pooled from multiple sources and managed by a single entity, so accountability is prime. These funds should be managed responsibly and should be used for their intended purpose. It is important to ensure that transactions are properly documented and that any discrepancies are addressed in a timely manner. In a surprising development, Qoki Trucks project allegedly had no bank account, talk less of a proper accounting procedure. The trucks were fitted with tracking devices but only Ms Tshuma and her allies had access. Seemingly not all trips were recorded. Families of investors back in Zimbabwe would spot the truck, say in Harare, on unauthorised trips. The members would have been made to believe that there was no work for that specific truck at that particular time.
Moreover, all parties should be involved or made aware of any discrepancies. For instance, in Nondweni 2 there has been a court case dating back to March 2022 where Qoki is applying for an eviction order of the settlers that were allocated land by the government through the land reform programme. This has not been disclosed to the stakeholders to date.
The project should be managed in a way that is fair and equitable to all involved. This includes clear communication about the project’s goals, objectives, timeline, budget and progress. It also means that all stakeholders should have a say in the decision making process and it should be managed in a way that is respectful of everyone’s opinions and contributions without judgement. In most Qoki projects, the investors have to ask for progress updates. The leaders are not pro-active with reports or updates. The projects were not measurable owing to poor project management and execution. The bullying and harassment happening there is some form of compensatory behaviour triggered by lack of knowledge by the leaders. When members ask pertinent questions they are ridiculed or thrown out of the WhatsApp groups which are the main channel of communication. Invoices are posted on the groups but never receipts.
Most government or City Council bills are charged in local currency in Zimbabwe but at Qoki they are billed in US dollars on Non-government/City Council stationery. Procurement procedures are informal and incomparable to other competitors. A Bulawayo City Council (BCC) employee who acts as ‘Qoki’s integral due diligence guru’, a townplanning advisor to Qoki and is referred to as ‘Townplanner’, one Victor Masuku, allegedly does everything from, viewing land, physical planning to quantity surveying, road designing and construction. So much bias there as it is not known if applications pass on merit or by virtue of Mr Masuku being a BCC employee. Mr Masuku’s expertise in all these roles is yet to tested, so far, there has been some concerns regards the exorbitant road pricing and the quality of roads constructed by his company called Sindaku.
Stakeholders should have trust and confidence in the system. It raises so much doubt when integrity and transparency are not employed. At one instance Ms Tshuma is heard saying “we had to do what we had to do, ….too bad I can’t share here” (audio attached below), one is left wondering if she was insinuating she bribed her way through to get subdivision permits.

Such sinister irregularities are observed in most projects. Redacted pivotal documents like an agreement of sale; or with wrong deceased estate numbers; Court orders signed by the deputy sheriff in chambers without being advertised for fear of opposition; people signing on behalf of title holders without power of attorney. It is a myriad of gross criminal and unethical misconduct.
Cry our beloved country! in a normal economy, buying land or property should not be tedious and complex as this. Systems should be put in place and intertwined to curb corruption. Legal professionals should be vetted, monitored and expelled from the register for misconduct. The government should also put in place regulations to ensure that private sellers do not take advantage of people by selling stands at highly inflated prices.
One confounding factor that led to this authoritarian rule and concealing of information is the basis on which Qoki was formed. Qoki was a breakaway faction of Mthwakazi Queens. It was formed on betrayal and deception so the domino effect is constantly perceived, as the saying goes ‘history repeats itself’. The prototype of this model was Mthwakazi Queens brainchild and its members were poached from them by Qoki founders hence the delusional imaginary ‘soft coup’ the exiters are accused of. To be quite frank nobody in their right minds would touch Qoki projects with a ten foot pole. The guilty are always afraid.

Man Sentenced to Community Service and Fine for Causing Traffic Jam and Disorderly Conduct
By Farai D Hove | In a recent incident that caused a small traffic scene in Harare’s Avenues area, a man who heroically parked his vehicle at an intersection and started beating a drum has been sentenced to 140 hours of community service and a US$200 fine by Harare magistrate Mr Simon Kandiyero. The sentence was delivered after the magistrate received two psychiatric reports on Itayi Uthant Makombe, aged 51, from two different doctors, who concluded that he was capable of comprehending his actions.
Makombe had previously pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct during his initial court appearance. Initially, Mr Kandiyero sentenced Makombe to six months in prison, suspending two months on the condition of good behavior. The remaining four months were suspended on the condition that Makombe performs 140 hours of community service at ZRP Chinhoyi, starting immediately.
Expressing his disapproval of Makombe’s disorderly behavior, Magistrate Kandiyero highlighted the upcoming elections and emphasized that the court cannot tolerate such actions. He suggested that given the current political climate, Makombe’s behavior might be considered political in nature.
Regarding the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, Makombe was ordered to pay a US$200 fine or face two months in jail. The court was informed by the prosecution that on June 5, at approximately 6 am, Makombe parked his Land Rover Defender at the intersection of Josiah Tongogara Avenue and Sam Nujoma Street in Harare. He then exited the vehicle, climbed onto the back, and sat on a folding chair while covering himself with a blanket.
Eyewitnesses reported that Makombe began playing an African drum and shouting in the Shona language, proclaiming, “Ambuya Nehanda vamuka, ropa zhinji rakadeuka uye richiri kudeuka,” which translates to “Nehanda has resurrected, a lot of blood has been spilt and is still spilling.”
Responding to the disturbance, two police officers arrived at the scene and instructed Makombe to move his vehicle from the intersection. However, when Makombe refused to comply, the police were forced to use minimal force to remove him from the vehicle and subsequently arrested him.
On a separate count, police received information on June 6 that Makombe was in possession of a firearm without a valid certificate. Acting on this information, the police accompanied Makombe to his residence, where they discovered a black CZ pistol with a magazine containing 9 by 7.65 mm caliber rounds, concealed in a bag. It was revealed that the firearm certificate had expired on March 1 the previous year, and Makombe had failed to renew it within the designated timeframe.
In mitigation, Makombe’s lawyer stated that his client had committed the offense while in a state of depression and under the influence of alcohol.
While the court acknowledged Makombe’s mental state and the influence of alcohol during the incident, it upheld the gravity of his actions and the disruption caused to the public. By imposing community service and a fine, the court aims to hold Makombe accountable for his behavior while providing an opportunity for rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
The sentence serves as a reminder that public disorder and unlawful possession of firearms will not be tolerated, particularly in a sensitive period leading up to elections. It underscores the importance of upholding law and order and ensuring the safety and well-being of the public at large.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says legal practitioners have a duty to entrench unity and a culture of non-violence as the country approaches general elections slated for the 23rd of August this year.
He was speaking at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations and unveiling of Dube, Manikai and Hwacha (DMH) law firm’s new offices in Harare this Wednesday.
The President was Guest of Honour at the event in Harare’s Alexandra Park, which also coincided with the law firm’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.
The President took the opportunity to challenge the citizenry to denounce and shun any form of economic sabotage.
“Our country’s general elections to be held on the 23rd of August 2023 are fast approaching. Legal practitioners are invited to be part of the national crusade preaching and practicing peace. You also have a duty to entrench unity and a culture of non-violence, before, during and after the elections, the people of Zimbabwe no less from you. It is incumbent on all of us to denounce the economic sabotage, hybrid asymmetrical attack on our country’s independence and national interest.
“On its part, my administration will continue to put in place responsive measures to promote sustainable growth of our economy, increased investments, production and productivity towards the realisation of development that leaves no one and no place behind,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said legal practitioners must complement government efforts in the fight against corruption and ensure a corrupt-free legal fraternity.
“Under the Second Republic, justice delivery, a patriotic, independent and corrupt free legal fraternity is core to our quest of entrenching constitutionalism, good governance, democracy and the rule of law. To this end, I call upon legal practitioners to ensure that services offered are available and accessible towards lifting more of our people to a higher quality of life and out of poverty into prosperity.
“Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo, Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo. Equally I also urge you as lawyers, you join the national effort to expose and fight corruption. You must be at the forefront of demonstrating the core tenets of ethic driven leadership, mindsets and actions along with accountability and integrity,” he added.
The President also commended DMH Law Chambers for demonstrating unity of purpose and delivering quality legal services.
“It is most gratifying that, leveraging and pulling the various competencies, skills and experiences, the partners are working together and demonstrating commitment to continuously building a strong and sustainable DMH brand, you have become a model institution. Further, your unity of purpose, which harness the diverse strengths of partners, for delivering quality services has seen you leaving an indelible footprint in our country’s legal landscape,” highlighted the President.
Established in 1998 with only four partners, Dube, Manikai and Hwacha law firm has grown over the years and now boasts of nine partners, two associate partners, four senior associates, one candidate attorney and several associates.
Citizens in Namibia have the conviction that vote rigging commenced with the arbitrary arrest and illegal conviction of Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala in June 2022. It is unbelievable that ZANU-PF has successfully exploited the captured judiciary to deny Wiwa his right to represent Zengeza West in the forthcoming harmonized elections scheduled on the 23rd of August 2023. Not only the right to represent was infringed but also the fundamental right to be represented, specifically affecting the innocent residents of Zengeza West.
Social Democrats in Namibia are convinced that vote rigging does not transpire on voting day since it is a long and tedious process. We have seen the weaponization of the law by the clueless regime since 2020 when they deliberately surrendered the People’s Party to their surrogate Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora through the March Corona Supreme Court judgment. The unconstitutional arrest of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala was a sure way to deny him the right to participate in the impending elections in August.
Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala has endured more than 365 days caged in the hell hole of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison on concocted charges. The only crime was his valor, mettle, and nerve to confront ZANU-PF following the enforced disappearance and abduction of the late Moreblessing Ali who was gruesomely murdered by Pius Jamba Mukandi in Nyatsime for her politics. Today, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala is unable to take part in the nomination process because of this long pretrial detention since the 14th of June 2022.
This is a clear indicator that ZANU-PF is not ready to promote free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in Zimbabwe. Locking the vibrant Sikhala in prison is rigging on its own. The people of Zengeza West were rigged in advance, they were orphaned since last year to date because their leader was instrumental in demanding justice, freedom, and equality. It is quite pathetic that the deceased Moreblessing Ali is not yet buried since May last year. The continued incarceration of Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala is the only reason why Moreblessing Ali is still in the mortuary.
We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala. Without Wiwa, there will be no credible elections. Job Sikhala is a political prisoner who is in jail for his vibrancy and organic approach to the national democratic struggle. Zec and ZANU-PF must respect the rule of law and constitutionalism. The closure of the democratic space in the motherland is the epitome of authoritarianism in the Harare regime.
Namibia district has watched with great fury the arbitrary arrests and illegal convictions of nominated CCC candidates across the breadth and lengths of Zimbabwe on trumped-up charges. The unconstitutional arrests and violence unleashed on the change champions depict the unwillingness of ZANU-PF to conduct peaceful elections. We demand the release of the jailed ZINASU six, who are political prisoners. Jacob Ngarivhume is also a prisoner of conscience suffering because he simply tweeted urging citizens to take part in an anti-corruption demonstration scheduled on the 31st of July 2020. The right to protest and petition is enshrined in the Supreme Law of the country!
In a nutshell, CCC Namibia would like to wish all nominated candidates good luck ahead of the 23rd of August 2023. Victory is certain with participatory democracy. Let’s vote big! Win big! And Defend big. We urge unsuccessful candidates to swallow their pride and back those who are going to represent the political behemoth(CCC) on the 23rd of August. There is no need to be greedy! By Dorrothy Moyo | Robert Chapman, a US-based diasporan who claimed to have successfully submitted his nomination papers for the upcoming 2023 elections in Zimbabwe, has been dropped from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s (ZEC) database. This revelation was confirmed by ZEC’s deputy chairperson, Ambassador Rodney Kiwa, in an interview with Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN Prime) last night.
Chapman’s removal from the database means that only 11 candidates have managed to file their nomination papers to contest in the presidential election, which is scheduled to take place on August 23 as part of Zimbabwe’s harmonized elections.

The abuse of older people, also known as elder abuse, is a single or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. This type of violence constitutes a violation of human rights and includes physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse; financial and material abuse; abandonment; neglect; and serious loss of dignity and respect.
Scope of the problem Abuse of older people is an important public health problem. A 2017 review of 52 studies in 28 countries from diverse regions estimated that over the past year 1 in 6 people (15.7%) aged 60 years and older were subjected to some form of abuse (1). Although rigorous data are limited, the review provides prevalence estimates of the proportion of older people affected by different types of abuse.
Data on the extent of the problem in institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities are scarce. However, a review of recent studies on abuse of older people in institutional settings (2) indicates that 64.2% of staff reported perpetrating some form of abuse in the past year.
Emerging evidence indicates that the prevalence of abuse of older people in both the community and in institutions have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. A US study, for instance, suggests that rates in the community may have increased by as much as 84% (3).

Consequences Abuse of older people can have serious physical and mental health, financial, and social consequences, including, for instance, physical injuries, premature mortality, depression, cognitive decline, financial devastation and placement in nursing homes. For older people, the consequences of abuse can be especially serious and recovery may take longer (4).
Risk factors Individual level characteristics which increase the risk of becoming a victim of abuse include functional dependence/disability, poor physical health, cognitive impairment, poor mental health and low income. Individual level characteristics which increase the risk of becoming a perpetrator of abuse include mental illness, substance abuse and dependency – often financial – of the abuser on the victim. At the relationship level, the type of relationship (e.g., spouse/partner or child/parent) and marital status may be associated with an elevated risk of abuse, but these factors vary by country and region. Community- and societal-level factors linked to elder abuse may include ageism against older people and certain cultural norms (e.g., normalization of violence). Social support and living alone reduce the likelihood of elder abuse (5).
Prevention Many strategies have been tried to prevent and respond to abuse of older people, but evidence for the effectiveness of most of these interventions is limited at present. Strategies considered most promising include caregiver interventions, which provide services to relieve the burden of caregiving; money management programmes for older adults vulnerable to financial exploitation; helplines and emergency shelters; and multi-disciplinary teams, as the responses required often cut across many systems, including criminal justice, health care, mental health care, adults protective services and long-term care (5).
In some countries, the health sector has taken a leading role in raising public concern about abuse of older people, while in others the social welfare sector has taken the lead. Globally, too little is known about elder abuse and how to prevent it, particularly in developing countries.

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says legal practitioners have a duty to entrench unity and a culture of non-violence as the country approaches general elections slated for the 23rd of August this year.
He was speaking at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations and unveiling of Dube, Manikai and Hwacha (DMH) law firm’s new offices in Harare this Wednesday.
The President was Guest of Honour at the event in Harare’s Alexandra Park, which also coincided with the law firm’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.
The President took the opportunity to challenge the citizenry to denounce and shun any form of economic sabotage.
“Our country’s general elections to be held on the 23rd of August 2023 are fast approaching. Legal practitioners are invited to be part of the national crusade preaching and practicing peace. You also have a duty to entrench unity and a culture of non-violence, before, during and after the elections, the people of Zimbabwe no less from you. It is incumbent on all of us to denounce the economic sabotage, hybrid asymmetrical attack on our country’s independence and national interest.
“On its part, my administration will continue to put in place responsive measures to promote sustainable growth of our economy, increased investments, production and productivity towards the realisation of development that leaves no one and no place behind,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said legal practitioners must complement government efforts in the fight against corruption and ensure a corrupt-free legal fraternity.
“Under the Second Republic, justice delivery, a patriotic, independent and corrupt free legal fraternity is core to our quest of entrenching constitutionalism, good governance, democracy and the rule of law. To this end, I call upon legal practitioners to ensure that services offered are available and accessible towards lifting more of our people to a higher quality of life and out of poverty into prosperity.
“Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo, Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo. Equally I also urge you as lawyers, you join the national effort to expose and fight corruption. You must be at the forefront of demonstrating the core tenets of ethic driven leadership, mindsets and actions along with accountability and integrity,” he added.
The President also commended DMH Law Chambers for demonstrating unity of purpose and delivering quality legal services.
“It is most gratifying that, leveraging and pulling the various competencies, skills and experiences, the partners are working together and demonstrating commitment to continuously building a strong and sustainable DMH brand, you have become a model institution. By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Wednesday extended the deadline to Thursday for aspiring candidates who failed to pay nomination fees due to banking system issues.
In a statement, ZEC has called on candidates to approach the Nomination Court before 5 pm on the same day. ZEC said the decision followed reports that some candidates were disqualified from lodging their nomination papers due to payment difficulties caused by banking system challenges. Reads the statement issued on Thursday, June 22nd:
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has noted with concern reports to the effect that prospective candidates were disqualified from lodging their nomination papers on account of difficulties experienced in effecting payment of nomination fees largely due to the current challenges within the banking system.
In view of this, the Commission is calling upon all candidates and parties whose nomination papers had been submitted but had challenges with the Commission’s point of sale machines and those who had submitted proof of payments but funds not reflecting in ZEC’s account to approach the respective nominations courts wherein their papers were lodged and make the necessary payments or get confirmation of said payment no later than 1700hrs on 22 June 2023.
The overriding mission of ZEC is to be as accommodative and inclusive as possible to enable Zimbabwean voters to exercise their cherished democratic rights.

By- The Douglas Mwonzora-led Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) has failed to field candidates in all constituencies in Zimbabwe due to the party’s financial troubles.
The party’s information and publicity secretary, Witness Dube, told Voice of America (VOA) Studio 7 in an interview that they were unable to pay nomination fees for all their candidates across the country by the close of the Nomination Court. Dube could not provide further details and referred the press to the party’s president, Mwonzora. He said:
We failed to pay nomination fees for all our candidates across the country by close of the Nomination Court. Please get details from the president.
The party’s secretary general, Tapiwa Mashakada, issued a statement to all MDC-T provinces, advising all candidates to leave their forms at ZEC (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission) offices and disperse. Read the statement:

Meanwhile, ZANU PF and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), bitter rivals, have successfully filed their nomination papers at the High Court for the upcoming harmonised elections on August 23.
By- The Nelson Chamisa-led opposition, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, has approached the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to seek clarification regarding a situation of name similarity.
This was after it was discovered that a person named Chitembe David from Harare East Constituency had registered to contest in the Parliamentary elections as a candidate for a political party named Changu Chimuti Chakapinda Chapinda (CCCC), which bears a resemblance to the CCC party.
The party inquired if the CCCC party exists and how it was possible for someone to register with a political party that has a name identical to theirs. The CCC has also expressed curiosity about the use of similar symbols by various political parties and requested ZEC to clarify this issue to the citizens. In an open letter seen by Pindula News, the CCC led by Nelson Chamisa said:

Posting on Twitter, Chamisa said CCC representatives visited the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to scrutinize the list of candidates purportedly submitted by their party.
To their dismay, they discovered that a number of individuals had utilized forged signatures and even resorted to photocopying the CCC logo in order to file their nomination papers.
“A HUGE SCAM – MANUFACTURED CCC DOUBLE CANDIDATES..Our teams have just been to ZEC to inspect the submitted nominations. It’s clear that the so called ‘double candidates’ forged signatures and the CCC logo. Our CCC logo is embossed and not a photocopy as is the case with the ‘double candidates’. In addition, those nominations were not countersigned for by the designated officials of CCC. It’s clearly a sting operation! We will explore the remedies available at law which enjoin ZEC to resolve this matter. We are pursuing this remedy with immediacy and urgency necessary,” said Chamisa.
THE Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) on Wednesday dismissed as false, reports in some online publications that it had lost tax records dating back to six years ago.
In a statement, Zimra said the story, whose headline read: “Zimra Loses Tax Records Dating Back to six years ago” published by the NewsHub and also carried by Pindula, was misleading as the authority has not experienced a system crash or hacking of any of its servers.
“The request for information from clients is for the purposes of updating taxpayer records since clients sometimes change physical addresses, email addresses, public officers, contact details, tax accountants as well as where there is missing information.
“Zimra is working on migrating client data onto their new Tax and Revenue Management System (TaRMS), which will be more efficient and will simplify business processes through the use of automation,” read part of the statement.
The authority encouraged all taxpayers to update their master data information for effective communication.

– there are no gaps at all regarding MP candidates. All MP posts were fielded by Nelson Chamisa’s CCC.
– there are no gaps at all at presidential level. The leader successfully submitted his nomination papers.
– Only a few wards were missed by the CCC and they include those listed at the bottom of this article
– the unfielding of a few wards is the product of ZEC tampering, being the shifting of electoral boundaries, intimidation, and the illegal charging of fees.
– the few unfielded wards do not affect the outcome
– Double candidates are a fraud which cannot happen at any time in any database, because like in banking, a single cheque (political party in this case) can never clear or appear twice on the same number. It’s impossible.

The opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T), led by Douglas Mwonzora, has failed to field candidates in all constituencies amid reports that the party is broke.
In an interview with VOA Studio 7, the party’s information and publicity secretary, Witness Dube, said, “We failed to pay nomination fees for all our candidates across the country by close of the Nomination Court. Please get details from the president.”
Dube could not shed more information on this issue saying only Mwonzora is capable of answering questions being raised by the press.
In a statement to all MDC-T provinces on Wednesday evening, the party’s secretary general, Tapiwa Mashakada, said, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, all candidates are now advised to leave their forms at ZEC (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission) offices and disperse. Further communication will be issued regarding the legal status of their nomination papers in view of non-payment. Any inconvenience suffered is most sincerely regretted.”
Mwonzora indicated a few weeks ago that they were ready for the council, parliamentary and presidential election. The Nomination Court sat Wednesday. He was not responding to calls on his mobile phone.
Zimbabwe will hold harmonized elections on August 23 this year. The two bitter rivals – President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Nelson Chamisa – successfully filed their nomination papers at the High Court on Wednesday.

Posting on Twitter, Chamisa said they had glitches in a few wards resulting in their failure to field contestants.
Chamisa also confirmed that his party failed to field candidates in all proportional representation for local authorities.
He however confirmed that his party fielded contestants in all the 210 parliamentary seats, 60 senatorial seats, Women and Youth Quota respectively.

CCC has blamed a shadowy Zanu PF aligned Forever Associate of Zimbabwe (FAZ) for forging signatures resulting in double candidates in some constituencies.
Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) President Nelson Chamisa has played down concerns over Biti’s looming absence from the next parliament.
Biti failed to make the cut for the next parliament candidates.
Addressing journalists soon after visiting the High Court building to confirm his own nomination – filed a day before – Chamisa allayed fears of a festering fall-out with his deputy Tendai Biti in the wake of the latter’s failed bid to defend his Harare East seat during party processes to find candidates for the August 23 election.
Chamisa was accompanied by Biti in an apparent show of unity with his top aide.
President Mnangagwa’s fiercest challenger, who was in a buoyant mood, affirmed his bid to challenge for the country’s top job as he played down concerns over Biti’s looming absence from the next parliament.
Chamisa said his envisaged government had bigger plans for the founding MDC legislator and former finance minister.
The 45-year-old presidential challenger said his party’s eyes were more focused on clinching the national presidency, which has been an elusive target for the country’s most formidable party, formed as MDC in 1999.
“Our focus is not to be in parliament but to be in government,” he said.
“We have been in parliament for a long time; that is not our station of choice at the moment.
“Our station of choice is in government. So, you will see Mr Biti in government.
“He is going to play a pivotal role in the campaign that we are going to be waging very soon because he is part of that government and that is what we are offering to Zimbabweans.”
Chamisa added, “Parliament is going to be there; we already have people deployed there but there are others that are beyond parliament.
“They are in government, and they must play that role in government. So, you will see a strong team, you will see a formidable team, you will see the future of Zimbabwe and it is here.”
ZANU PF’s aspiring parliamentary candidate for Goromonzoi South constituency Tinashe Chikonye has been accused of parcelling out State land to home-seekers in Caledonia, claiming the land was his.
Chikonye is among several party officials filing for candidature at the nomination court today.
NewsDay has gathered that several duped residents had reported the matter at Mabvuku Police Station under case numbers CR83/06/23 and CR84/06/23, but Chikonye has not yet been arrested.
“Tinashe Chikonye is a land baron who has reportedly swindled thousands of home seekers on the pretext of owning land which turns out to be State land,” said one resident who refused to be named for fear of victimisation
“We have for years approached Mabvuku police but after filing dockets have been disappearing. The allegations are that between October 2017 and early this month, Chikonye fraudulently awarded himself a total of 89 residential stands belonging to the State under UDCORP . The accused with intent to defraud the State and potential home seekers during the material time,” said another resident.
The stands in questions had reportedly been reserved for members of the security sector and civil servants evicted from Caledonia Phase 6, which has been reserved for a school.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday said he was not aware of the allegations.
Chikonye was not immediately available for comment.

In a grim turn of events, Qoki Zindlovukazi Trucks, a project directed by a Zimbabwean self claimed Women Empowerment Founder, Sithule Tshuma, is on the brink of bankruptcy. The project, which operates in South Africa, plies routes within South Africa and to Zimbabwe and D.R. Congo, has been marred by a series of controversies and alleged mismanagement. The demise of the Qoki trucking project is another dimension of a seemingly dismal drive for Qoki Zindlovukazi filled with sad life stories from various women investors. The investors had high hopes in Qoki as a Matebeleland and Midlands livelihoods alleviation initiative as advertised by its co-founder Ms Tshuma.

One of the primary concerns raised by these Trucks crowd funders (meant to be shareholders), is the lack of due diligence and immature business practices exhibited by the Qoki Directors, Karen Kumalo, Nompilo Moyo and Bridget Dube. Interesting to note is that, over 3 years on, share certificates/ ownership documentation was never issued to these investors. Some critical investors argue that proper research and analysis were not conducted before venturing into South African new markets and expanding operations, leading to financial strain, stress and unsustainable growth. It is also unbelievable that a company of this stature had no bank account as exclaimed by one of the investors;

Another prominent issue highlighted by the investors, is the alleged dictatorship within the company. Accusations suggest that decision-making power was excessively vested on Sithule Tshuma, resulting in lack of transparency and accountability. Shareholders claim that their voices were disregarded, and their concerns were not adequately addressed, contributing to the current dire situation.

Furthermore, Ms Tshuma and her inexperienced management team have faced severe criticism. Many shareholders contend that key positions were filled by individuals lacking the necessary expertise and industry knowledge, compounded with deception. This alleged lack of competence and understanding of market dynamics has reportedly hindered the company’s growth and profitability.

Accounting irregularities, have also been projected, adding to the mounting troubles for Qoki. These allegations have further eroded investor confidence across all other Qoki projects, thereby raising doubts about the company’s overall financial health and integrity. This warranties a financial audit by an independent body or an ombudsman as it is gross.
Additionally, Qoki Trucks investors, have expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of shared dividends.
‘We injected over R1,5 million as capital, to date Sithule continues to show no interest, busy with 100 other projects which will also fail like ours’ said one investor.
Despite the company’s financial struggles, investors claim that they have not received any returns on their investments, exacerbating their financial losses. This situation has left many shareholders disillusioned and seeking legal remedies to protect their interests. Ironically, the management allegedly seems to be acquiring assets for themselves and their families and now drive luxury cars and living in mansions. The bankruptcy becomes more apparent amidst Qoki’s turmoil of events following fraudulent allegations, as shown on table below;
Qoki’s irregularities also come at a difficult moment following a major Bulawayo High court trial loss on Ms Tshuma vs Dumi matter. The impact on investors is severe. Qoki Trucks investors comprises mostly of vulnerable women working menial jobs in South Africa.

Given the myriad of challenges faced by Qoki Zindlovukazi Trucks, Market, Bank, Hotel & Golf course, Farm, Filling Stations, Properties and Guest House, experts are recommending a complete re-evaluation of the company’s management structure, along with the implementation of stringent financial and operational controls. Upskilling the existing workforce and hiring experienced professionals has also been suggested to rectify the current deficiencies.

From 2021, some ‘investors’ have been requesting the Trucks business to be sold or get refunded their share equivalent, to date Qoki has not responded to any of these requests. The outcome of this critical period will determine the future of Qoki Zindlovukazi as a whole, their Lawyer Zibusiso Charles Ncube and Qoki’s ability to recover from its current state of turmoil.

Watching Chamisa at Mbare Stoddart Netball courts it shows the demise of opposition. Like a charismatic preacher he controls the narrative. Behind him are the brains of the opposition’s Charlton Hwende and Tendai Biti and many heavy weights refused by the people they purport to represent yet being the brains behind the party, all have been rendered useless because of the dictatorship of one man. When we warned Biti and his followers that the dictatorship of CHAMISA knows no bounds, he is a pastor, not a power star—those two rhyme but is not the same. Tsvangirai wreathes in his grave. Those who formed the party can not speak those who dared to speak have been haunted out of the grave train. The political cemeteries display tall and sticking-out tombstones inscribed clearly in trickery. Rest in peace, Biti Rest in Peace, Douglas Mwonzora, farewell Morgen Komichi. These tombstones are placed close to the real graves of Tsvangirai and Gibson Sibanda and many of those who died after being dribbled by Nelson CHAMISA. It is very curious that those who joined CHAMISA from their own parties are either in prison or have had the rug pulled under their feet. Ngarivhume is serving a sentence and surprisingly, CCC under CHAMISA never stood by him so is Job Sikhala. Those not in prison and not chased away from CCC to pave the way for pure dictatorship are scared to speak out because the cult of Chamisa rules. They dare not speak because they will not be heard of ever again. Lilian Timveos and Blessing Chebundo saw the light early and joined the revolutionary party ZANU PF. They saved themselves from a murky candidate selection process which was targeting those who threatened Chamisa’s position. How do you get to this position when an opposition is beholden to one man. Like a sect, they go to the slaughter quietly, hoping a protest vote will help them. If CHAMISA can display such audacity before he sets foot in the state house, what will happen should he get there? God forbid. Zimbabwe’s opposition is cursed we are not blessed with a democratic opposition. We have a party with no structures no plan for the nation but a plan for the leader alone and his spokespersons. Talk of standing by friends Chamisa will not care for any one except himself. We look no further than his discretely fired spokesperson. Nkululeko Sibanda. He was dragged from his high paying position in UK and brought in to be the spokesperson. CHAMISA was forming an old Student Union team. Then when Sibanda invested his experience and Knowlledge in the party he was offloaded at the first hearing of a female voice in the name of Fadzai Nyembesi MAHERE. She brought all the meanings of her names. Joy to the leader and tears to Nkululeko. Elections are fast approaching Nkululeko Sibanda is now in the dustbin of CCC which is filling very fast. To understand CHAMISA and his constitutionless party, we look at the replacement of Nkululeko Sibanda. Fadzai MAHERE the personal spoke person of the CCC shocked the world when she took time to demonise Zimbabwe in Geneva. One Former British Prime minister Winston Churchill once said “When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the government of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home.” Zimbabweans have seen a crop of people who stand and pledge to soil their country. We have seen people who are so dedicated to make Zimbabwe look evil in the eyes of the world. Mahere was seeking relevance and building a profile for herself and CHAMISA on the blood of her fellow country man. Her fame is written with the blood of Zimbabweans. The CCC makes many feel a little perplexed. it is sometimes saddening to see that some self-proclaimed critics go beyond the limit and start spitting out random things. Blaming Mnangagwa’s govt. for each and every bad thing happening around us has almost become a trend these days. President ED has been working relentlessly 24*7 with out getting even a little bit tired since the past four years.The fact that we criticize when things don’t work out, or rather when things don’t work out the way WE WANT. Instead of actually doing something of figuring ways out.
In her address, Mahere claimed that in 2021 “I woke up in a security prison in Zimbabwe with no toilet, no water and no underwear. To claim that she had neither a toilet nor access to water is hyperbole meant to demonise the Zimbabwean Government when she knows that Zimbabwean prisoners have access to toilets and water. It would be naïve for a person of Mahere’s stature to expect her prison cell to be as luxurious as her en suite bedroom. As for the claims of going around her cell without underwear, it is common practice the world over that items of clothing that can be used by prisoners to commit suicide, strangle other prisoners or create ladders to escape are removed from their cells for their own safety. If she was wearing panties like G-strings that can easily lend themselves to other uses, no responsible prison officer would let her keep them on her person. But was she even wearing one we don’t know. All this tells us that CCC is not intending to be democratic if God forbids it gets in the office. They have abandoned their slogan that “God is in it” and now resort to purging each other. God May never be in that treachery. On the other hand ZANU PF does not only talk they join the worshippers and worship with them. This is the reason why the churches adore ED MNANGAGWA. If we are serious about our country let us vote for serious people. Leadership is a serious business. It requires honesty and faithfulness. To that end, MNANGAGWA attends the church and worships with others, as did David, the King of the Jews and all kings. CHAMISA will not go where God is. He wants God to join him at a yellow rally. Zimbabwe is a blessed country, and God has blessed it. We must not betray our God by voting for those who will not tell the truth but only claim that God is in it. Zimbabwe needs POWER STARS, NOT PASTORS, in the state house.
By A Correspondent| According to Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CZiC), opposition Citizens Coalition for Change parliamentary candidates are yet to file their nomination papers with only four hours left before the court closes.
Posting on Twitter, CZiC said;
“At Harare Magistrates Court all CCC candidates are yet to file nomination papers amid reports the court is telling them the papers they are filing do not have the same signatures as the ones filed prior to the sitting of the nomination court.”
Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, Trust Chikohora, Linda Masarira and Savior Kasukuwere have reportedly successfully filed their nomination papers to stand as presidential candidates in the August 23 elections.
Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba through his controversial Tinoedzazvimwe1 Twitter account has confirmed that Independent Presidential candidate Savior Kasukuwere has filed his nomination papers.
By A Correspondent| Last week, Jedidiah Trust, a local non-governmental organization partnered with the Canadian Embassy in Zimbabwe to host children and caregivers of children of incarcerated parents to commemorate the Day of the African Child.
Speaking at the event, Getrude Mandizvidza, the Chairperson of Jedidiah Trust, emphasized the importance of creating moments of happiness for children of incarcerated parents saying they are often neglected and excluded within their communities.
“All what we’re doing is to make sure that these kids at least have a test of happiness, because most of the time and especially in our community they are side-lined because their parents are in prison.
“So most of the benefits that other children do have, they are always some of them to an the extent of being scolded because of whatever their parents did. So for now, with the help of Canadian Embassy, we decided to bring these children so that they can have fun, enjoy the games, even their guardians, so that they can all forget about the stress and look up and also taste happiness,” said Mandizvidza.
Jessica Dawson, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Canada in Harare, Zimbabwe said they partnered with Jedidiah Trust in order to celebrate these children and offering them a sense of love and belonging.
“We chose today, the day of the African child because we thought it was an excellent opportunity for us to celebrate these children, give them an opportunity to come together, get to know each other, feel free, feel comfortable.
“And let them know that the Canadian Embassy that the Government of Canada appreciates them and values them. The Government of Canada places a lot of emphasis on promoting and protecting the human rights of everyone, including children and the beneficiaries of Jedidiah Trust. The children of incarcerated parents are a very overlooked group,” said Dawson.
Lovemore Chikwanda, the founder of Jedidiah Trust, emphasized the organization’s commitment to mending shattered dreams saying the visit to the Canadian Embassy was an essential part of their efforts to amplify the voices of children with incarcerated parents.
“As an organization, we are so happy as we have managed to impact the lives of these children because our motive is all about empowering lives and building broken dreams. And that’s why we are here today at the Canadian Embassy, we say thank you for giving us this opportunity to amplify the voices of children with parents who are in prison,” said Chikwanda.
PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa (Zanu-PF) and opposition Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa on Tuesday successfully filed nomination papers ahead of today’s sitting of the nomination courts across the country.
Several other presidential candidates are expected to file their nomination papers on Wednesday.
These include exiled former Cabinet minister Saviour Kasukuwere, who will stand as an independent candidate, National Constitutional Assembly leader Lovemore Madhuku and MDC Alliance leader Douglas Mwonzora, among others.
Kasukuwere and Democratic Union of Zimbabwe leader Robert Chapman are some of the surprise presidential candidates expected to enter the presidential race in the August 23 elections.
Nomination fees are pegged at U$20 000 for the presidential candidates, while prospective MPs will fork out US$1 000 to participate in the polls, with aspiring councillors and senators paying US$100.
Prospective senators and MPs will file their papers in provincial capitals.
Councillors will converge at district centres to submit their papers.
Political analysts yesterday expressed mixed feelings over Kasukuwere’s chances of successfully filing his candidature today.
“I have my grave doubts,” Eldred Masunugure said.
“It’s possible, but improbable unless a pact has been crafted between him and those at the apex of power.”
But Southern African Political Economy Series Trust director Ibbo Mandaza said he had high hopes that Kasukuwere would successfully file as a presidential candidate despite a pending warrant of arrest.
“Apparently, the warrant of arrest was mala fides and should have been put aside already,” Mandaza said.
“By the way, a candidate doesn’t have to be physically present at the nomination court. It’s the task of an election agent.”
PRESIDENT of the Chief’s Council, Fortune Charumbira, has been reported to the police for cyber-bullying after he allegedly fabricated a WhatsApp chat history to downplay his sexual assault case.
Charumbira, who is also the Pan-African Parliament president, is being accused of sexually assaulting his niece, who cannot be named for ethical reasons.
Police are, however, yet to arrest him although the case was reported in April this year.
A document, titled Plan to dethrone PAP president, which has been circulating on social media contains a WhatsApp chat history purporting to involve Charumbira’s family members.
According to the document, people involved in the chats are the victim and her father, who also cannot be named for ethical reasons, and two others who are allegedly plotting to dethrone Charumbira.
The chat history alleges that the victim’s father and the other three family members were worried that their plot to dethrone Charumbira using the sexual assault case was collapsing.
In the conversation, they then discussed a fresh plot to dethrone him, which was to write a petition for his removal from the chieftaincy.
But the victim’s father dismissed the messages and filed a case against Charumbira and five other family members whom he accused of fabricating the chats to trivialise the assault case which has been reported to the police.
The case was reported under RRB 5457709 at Masvingo Central Police Station last Thursday.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dewa referred NewsDay to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
“On that one, get the comment from our national office,” Dhewa said.
Nyathi was, however, not picking calls.
In his self-recorded statement filed with the police, the victim’s father said Charumbira connived with other family members to fabricate the chat history after he had panicked over a petition they had filed against him with government.
“I do not know the accused person, but I strongly suspect Chief Fortune Charumbira in conjunction with Akim Manyudza, Terminate Charumbira, Alimot Charumbira, Bylaw Charumbira and Muzvondiwa Charumbira. They all originate from the Charumbira clan,” the victim’s father said.
“The accused person contravened section 164B of the Data Protection Act [Chapter 11:22], cyber-bullying and harassment.”
The victim’s father said his family filed a petition addressed to Masvingo Provincial Affairs minister Ezra Chadzamira, chairperson of the Provincial Chief Assembly, Chief Chitanga, Local Government minister July Moyo and Chief Secretary in the Offcice of the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda.
He accused Charumbira of using the names of the signatories of the petition to fabricate a WhatsApp chat.
The statement further read: “I assume the suspected person, after being served with the copy of the petition, noted the signatories on the petition which he used to manipulate the fraudulent WhatsApp chat.
“The suspect, towards countering all these allegations, formulated and hatched a plan to manipulate a false (sic) WhatsApp chat and posted it on social media, claiming that the aforementioned allegations of indecent assault and threats of violence were staged towards dethroning him.”
Contacted for comment, Charumbira said: “What WhatsApp chat history? Are you sure I have a link to that WhatsApp? Send me the chats to ascertain the truth.”
Charumbira recently refuted the allegations being levelled against him and threatened to sue the victim for defamation.
The victim later filed another report of threat of violence against her by Charumbira.
Last week, she filed a complaint against the police for failing to take action against her case.
ZIMBABWEAN businessman Frank Buyanga incarcerated in South Africa has launched a fresh bid in the High Court to avert extradition to his home country.
Buyanga has been in a Johannesburg prison since November and launched his new application Monday, seeking to block his possible extradition to Zimbabwe.
He has been at loggerheads with his former girlfriend, Chantelle Muteswa, contesting custody of their minor son for years.
A warrant of arrest was issued against him after he took his son to South Africa following a landmark ruling that gave parents with children outside of wedlock equal access to their children.
In his application, Buyanga said he fears he will be unfairly treated in Zimbabwe, insinuating judiciary interference.
He alleges Muteswa has close ties with the Zimbabwe First family.
The application reads: “I mention in passing that Ms Muteswa has abused her close connections to the First Family in Zimbabwe to use ZRP to lay the charges of kidnapping and robbery and to illegally procure the authorisation of the warrant of arrest that is relied upon in the extradition request.”
He further claimed Muteswa is in a relationship with one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sons.
“I reserve the right to disclose his name should the need arise,” he said.
The businessman is seeking an order declaring the extradition warrant unlawful.
Buyanga also wants the hearing at the Randburg magistrate court to be discontinued and set aside for lack of jurisdiction.
In his founding affidavit, Buyanga said South Africa has no extradition treaty with Zimbabwe.
Buyanga was arrested on November 10 on the back of a warrant issued in his home country.
Initially, he was granted R150 000 bail but was arrested immediately after on separate charges of contravening the Immigration Act.
The businessman filed another bail application, which the court dismissed. He has been in custody since then.
Buyanga argues he is being held on a non-extraditable offence.
The application reads: “I am further advised that contempt of court is not an extraditable offence in terms of the SADC Protocol on Extradition as read with Criminal Law (Codification and Reform)(chapter 9:23) Act of Zimbabwe.
“I am therefore advised and believe the advice to be correct: to the extent that the sentence for contempt of court in Zimbabwe is a fine or a period of imprisonment not exceeding one year or both, it follows that no request for my extradition should have been made relying upon the alleged contempt charges.
“To that extent, I have advised the extradition request by the government of Zimbabwe was irreparably defective.”
The Randburg Magistrate Court will hold an inquiry in terms of sections 9 and 10 of the Extradition Act.
However, Buyanga says: “Because I was prima facie arrested unlawfully, the Randburg magistrate court cannot lawfully exercise its jurisdiction over me. By extension, it cannot, therefore, purport to hold an extradition inquiry that is premised on my unlawful arrest.
“To that extent, the legality of the extradition inquiry is equally tainted.
“I there humbly request that this honourable court ought to review and set aside the warrant of arrest on which I was arrested on 10 November 2022, because it was applied for and authorised improperly.”
ALL is set for the Nomination Court which is sitting today marking the beginning of the race for the August 23 harmonised elections.
Aspiring candidates sponsored by political parties and independents across the country are today expected to submit their nomination papers.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) had by end of business yesterday, set up stations at provincial magistrate courts and at all councils offices where candidates will file their nomination papers.
A Chronicle news crew observed some aspiring candidates conducting a pre-lodging exercise with ZEC officials assisting them to verify their papers.
ZEC chief elections officer Mr Utloile Silaigwana said the commission is ready for the sitting of the Nomination Court.
He said the public should be aware that elections will be conducted using new delimitation boundaries.
“We would like to advise that the Nomination Courts as per the proclamation will commence at 10AM and close at 4PM tomorrow, 21 June 2023. This is in terms of the electoral law Section 46 subsection 7 of the Electoral Act and that says no nomination paper shall be received after 4PM on the nomination date,” he said.
Mr Silaigwana however said those candidates who will be inside the Nomination Court by 4PM, will be attended to.
He said ZEC has fixed anomalies that the public raised during the voter’s roll inspection.
“I want to assure the electorate that the commission has rectified the anomalies that were identified by both voters and ourselves.
“From the proclamation of the election by the State President setting 23 August as the date for the harmonised elections, ZEC would like to advise the electorate that the voters’ roll for this election closed on the 2nd of June in accordance with the electoral law,” said Mr Silaigwana
The main political parties yesterday said they are targeting all the available seats ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.
Zanu- PF national commissar Mike Bimha said the party has candidates for all contested seats.
“As before we have never had any fear of contesting for any position, we will contest all positions. After the nomination court, our campaigns start,” he said.
Bimha said the ruling party is confident of a resounding victory.
He said Zanu- PF has assembled the best team chosen by the party’s structures to represent the party in the elections.
“We are getting closer to what we have been waiting for. We have been organising our party, re-energising our party, holding our internal elections as per our constitution, mobilising our electorate, educating our membership in terms of what the party stands for and what Government has done since the coming of the Second Republic and what has already been achieved in terms of our road towards achieving Vision 2030,” said Bimha.
MDC spokesperson Mr Witness Dube said his party will be fielding candidates across the board despite not having finalised the list for those contesting for local authority seats.
“With regards to the Parliamentary positions we are fielding a full complement of 210 candidates, plus the proportional representation list, that is the Senate, Lower House and the proportional representation for councils,” he said.
Mr Dube said the party had by yesterday 90 percent of the candidates for councils.
” We will do our final tally first thing in the morning before our team heads to the Nomination Court,” he said.
Posting on social media platform Twitter, Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) deputy spokesperson Mr Gift Ostallos Siziba said the opposition party will contest in all the available seats for councils.
“One Presidential candidate. 210 Members of Parliament. 1970 Councillors. Let’s go!” posted Mr Siziba.
Harare businessman Malvern Chimutashu, who was recently arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, has been denied bail at the High Court and will be in prison pending trial.
Chimutashu (40) of Borrowdale, had his application for bail pending trial dismissed by Justice Esther Muremba who noted that the accused did not disclose in his application that he had two other pending cases before the courts.
Allegations are that on December 12, 2022, Chimutashu sold a Mercedes Benz (registration number AFX4285) to the complainant for US$6 728.
The complainant then put up the car for sale for US$15 000.
After learning that the complainant was selling the motor vehicle, Chimutashu told the complainant that he had secured a buyer and was given directions to the garage where the car was parked.
On February 15, 2023, Chimutashu and two other men proceeded to the garage where the accused was given the car keys for a test drive.
Chimutashu is said to have driven the car away and never returned it.
In the second case, Chimutashu is said to have defrauded another complainant of US$3 000 in 2013 and he is supposed to appear for trial on August 24.
Chimutashu is said to have lied that he was a lawyer and could represent the complainant in a court case he was facing.
Chimutashu was only arrested on June 6, 2023 in respect of the charge of theft of a motor vehicle.
The third case is another fraud matter involving US$235 000 which is at defence stage in the regional court at Harare Magistrates Court under CRB HRE R 636/2017.
The judge said the key question was if the applicant would stand trial or evade it if granted bail.
In light of these cases, there was no assurance that Chimutashu intended to stand trial.
“If information is needed on a particular point, courts should allow that information to be availed. This is why the law permits postponements in bail proceedings.
“If the accused persons want their matters dealt with urgently and expeditiously, they should ensure that they put all the relevant information in their applications.
“They cannot withhold information and then seek to rush the courts in making decisions in the absence of vital information.
“In casu if the applicant had been candid with the court right from the start about all his pending cases, we would not have postponed the hearings to enable the State to get the information from the lower court,” said Justice Muremba.
“In view of the foregoing discussion, the application for bail pending appeal is dismissed.”
In 2019, Ionna Kiki Georgias, the daughter of late former deputy minister Aguy Clement Georgias, was looking for a Mercedes Benz vehicle to buy and was referred to Chimutashu who showed her a Mercedes C200 with no registration plates and said he wanted to sell it for US$33 000 cash.
Ms Georgias agreed to buy the vehicle and made three payments of US$10 000, US$18 000 and US$5 000 to Chimutashu who then gave her the vehicle.
A few days later, Chimutashu allegedly gave her fake temporary registration number plates.
Investigations conducted found the car was not registered in Zimbabwe since it was brought in using a temporary import permit and it was impounded by Zimra.
Ms Georgias made a report to the police who then arrested Chimutashu before he appeared before the courts. During the trial, Chimutashu disappeared and a warrant of arrest was issued against him.

The suspect was arrested while driving a Toyota Hilux GD 6 vehicle which he was using as a getaway car.
According to police investigations, the suspect, who was once a mobile phone provider employee sent a One Time Password code to unsuspecting members of the public for confirmation, thereby enabling him to hack and gain access to the unsuspecting persons’ bank accounts.
The hacked accounts were used to receive fraudulently obtained funds from various sources.
The suspect would also hack WhatsApp accounts, use foreign accounts and fake identity documents to create fraudulent accounts which he used to defraud individuals. and companies.
The suspect allegedly duped the victims of approximately ZW$ 27 996 000 and US$ 1 800.
ZRP is appealing to members of the public who could have been defrauded through phone hacking, WhatsApp hacking and identity theft to report at the Criminal Investigation Commercial Crimes Division, Harare or any nearest Police Station.

ACTING President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga has described the late National Hero Cde Ben Mucheche as a man who remained dedicated to the values of the liberation struggle throughout his life.
He was speaking at the Mucheche farm in Beatrice after visiting the family to pay his condolences this Monday.
General Retired Chiwenga said the late Cde Mucheche worked wholeheartedly and unreservedly, assisting towards the cause of the liberation struggle.
“He worked a lot with the founding fathers of the Chimurenga. Some of us knew him during the Second Chimurenga. I came here representing President Mnangagwa who is outside the country but will back today. He is among those who went to war. From 1972 when the war was in full swing it did not stop. This is when we saw the likes of Cde Mucheche uniting with others to help the liberators. He assisted until 1980 when we attained independence,” he said.
The Acting President also spoke about how the country has gone through various stages, including the land reform, also referred to as the Third Chimurenga.
He said Cde Mucheche died at a time when Zimbabwe is fighting to grow its economy using its natural resources.
As the Nomination Court for the 23rd of August General Elections sits on Wednesday, Dr Chiwenga urged the electorate to vote for the ruling party to ensure completion of various projects being implemented across the country.
“Now we are facing the Chimurenga to build the nation. No one knew we had minerals like lithium. Now we are going to the nomination court as we prepare for elections. The Second Republic is saying this is what we are doing. We have opened mines, build roads, vote for us so we complete these projects,” he added.
Family representative Mr Ben Mucheche Junior said their father taught them a culture of hard work.
“We want to express our gratitude to the government for honoring our father. He believed in hard work and integrity,” he noted.

By-Convicted famous comedian Mai TT, has turned to God in prison.
Mai TT told the state media Monday that God put her in prison for a reason that she has come to terms with the fact that jail will be her home for the next several months.
She made the revelations on Monday on the sidelines of a party hosted for the children of inmates at Chikurubi Female Prison. She said:
I am yet to accept that I have to stay behind these walls and get used to such an uncomfortable environment.
What came into my mind on my second day in my cell was my idea of visiting this same prison years ago.
I pleaded with prison officials to allow me to spend one night with inmates, but they denied me that chance, arguing that their protocol does not consider such requests.
I was touched by the living conditions of inmates, especially innocent babies, accompanying their mothers in prison.
I wanted to know more and little did I know that one day I would be counted among inmates kwete zvekunyepera kana kukumbira.
I want to believe that God is the one who gave me the idea to visit the prison and donate sanitary wear and food that year.
It is my prayer that all those mocking me continue to do so, maybe, I will find favour in God’s eyes and He will get me out of this place.
God is in control and His grace will take me through the race.

Mai TT was last week sentenced to an effective nine (9) months imprisonment following her conviction for theft of trust property.
She was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, 6 months were suspended on condition that she doesn’t commit a similar offense in the next 5 years. It means she will serve an effective 6 months for the offence.
During the trial at the Harare Magistrates Court, it emerged that Mai TT defaulted on a court order, to perform community service once, following a conviction for assault eight years ago.
For defaulting on 105 hours of community service, Mai TT was ordered to serve 3 months in prison.

In 2018, 23 candidates were on the presidential ballot paper but this year there are likely going to be fewer names on the ballot after ZEC hiked nomination fees to US$20 000.
By-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s soldier son, Sean Mnangagwa, has been appointed the Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association (ZIKA) patron.
His appointment comes following a visit by Malawian kickboxers to this country a few days ago. The visit was aimed at taking ties between the two countries to another level. The initiative, which is the brainchild of ZIKA, in conjunction with Heritage Delta, was meant to unpack potential long term cooperation channels in culture between the two countries. Sean, is a captain in the Zimbabwe National Army. He studied at the University of International Business School and Economics in South Africa majoring in security and business management, Homeland Security, law enforcement, fire-fighting and related protective services between 2008 and 2011. In an interview he said: “I complement the efforts being made by the Zimbabwe Kickboxing Association in mobilising the youths and inviting foreign countries to take part in such grand initiatives. “I feel it’s incredibly significant to be a kick boxer. As Bruce Lee once said, ‘It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than to be a gardener in a war.’ “The drill here is to remain physically and spiritually fit. “This initiative also works as an anti-alcohol and drug campaign, targeting communities in which unemployed young people resort to drinking and using narcotics to alleviate the stress of not having work. “Fight fit, stay fit and stay healthy. “Kudos, therefore, to Heritage Delta for advocating and championing initiatives which seek to amplify Zimbabwe’s heritage in its diversity.” ZIKA president Tony Kamangira said: “Zimbabwe and Malawi National Teams were competing for the first time in an international competition last weekend, as a way of belatedly commemorating Africa Day. “The name of the game is hit and not get hit,” said Kamangira. The championship featured seven Malawian fighters who competed against their Zimbabwean counterparts. Four Zimbabweans and three Malawian fighters won gold medals. Mike Mando Miwaluwimba from Malawi was the best male fighter while Kudakwashe Chikwature was the best female fighter of the championships. “With the unwavering support we are getting from highly patriotic and private organisations like Heritage Delta, among others, our national kickboxing team is set to fly Zimbabwe’s flag high on quite a number of international platforms. “We appeal in this regard, to our Central Government and the general populace for more support,” said Kamangira. -H-Metro
Pitso Mosimane has revealed that there was no contact with Kaizer Chiefs before he took up a job at United Arab Emirates side Al Wahda FC.
There were widespread rumours linking Mosimane with a move to Chiefs ahead of next season after the coach left his job at Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
The reports suggested that the South African gaffer applied for the and the two parties were still negotiating the terms.
But the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss joined the Emirati side on Saturday, putting an end to speculation linking him with a return to South African.
Commenting on the Chiefs rumours for the first time, Mosimane denied ever getting into talks with the club as he didn’t apply for the job.
“It’s not about Kaizer Chiefs,” said Mosimane as per iDiski Times. “We will coach anywhere where there is a project that we think is good and is right. But we’re not in a position to be sending applications form.
“No, we don’t send application forms. If somebody really, really wants you, he’ll come to you, he’ll talk to you.
“I’ll take a call from anybody. I’m a professional, I’m a football coach. I take a call from anybody, I don’t discriminate, I don’t judge, I’m a professional.
“I look at the project, is the project good, worth doing it? Look where we came from with Al Ahli Saudi, I knew about the challenges. The team was under administration, we all knew about it.”- Soccer24 News
