MPs Stranded In Cars After Kirsty Coventry Converted Parliament’s Hotel Into Her Own Office

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | In an unprecedented turn of events in Zimbabwe, Members of Parliament have reportedly been reduced to sleeping in their cars after the Quality International Hotel, initially renovated for their accommodation, has been repurposed as an office by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kirsty Coventry.

The troubling situation came to light after ZANU PF MP Pupurai Togarepi brought the issue to the forefront during a parliamentary session. Highlighting the severity of the predicament, Togarepi pointed out the dire measures MPs have resorted to, stating, “Speaker, I rise on a point of privilege after some are facing MPs each time they come to the House. There is a challenge in terms of accommodation. Members get very desperate to a point where some sleep in cars and others are disturbed by the approach of some of the hotels. When Hon. Members go to hotels, they are told in an unfriendly way that we are not taking MPs,” he said.

Further complicating matters, it’s alleged that hotels in the capital, Harare, have been reluctant to provide lodging to the lawmakers, citing delays in payments from Parliament for past services. The situation has forced some MPs into less dignified living conditions, challenging their ability to serve effectively.

Adding to the controversy, OpenParly, a local watchdog, revealed that the Quality International Hotel, specifically purchased and upgraded for MP housing, is currently being used by Coventry as her ministerial offices. This revelation raises questions about the misallocation of government resources and priorities.

At the time of reporting, Minister Coventry had yet to issue a response to these allegations. Her silence on the matter has been noted, with concerns being raised about her engagement with the media on various issues, many of which proceed to publication without her input.

The parliamentarians’ plight has sparked outrage and a call for immediate action to rectify the accommodation crisis, ensuring that the nation’s representatives are provided with the basic amenities required to fulfill their duties.

As the story develops, all eyes are on the government’s next move to resolve this accommodation debacle and on Minister Coventry’s response to the use of the MPs’ intended residence as her offices.- ZimEye

Tshabangu Praises Mnangagwa’s ZiG

By A Correspondent

Sengezo Tshabangu, the
self-declared interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change, has voiced support for Zimbabwe’s new currency introduced by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

Tshabangu’s endorsement of the ZiG currency underscores a significant shift in sentiment towards the government’s economic policies.

In a direct quote, Tshabangu stated, “We can’t continue using the foreign currency,” clearly signaling his approval of the decision to implement a local currency.

This statement aligns with Mnangagwa’s efforts to stabilize the country’s economy and reduce dependency on foreign currencies. However, Mnangagwa’s new currency is seen as useless by economists.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Yahua Group Kamativi mining company Spodumene mine and processing plant in Hwange District, Senator Tshabangu emphasized the importance of building confidence in the new currency.

He stressed that enhancing confidence among Zimbabweans is crucial for the ZiG currency to gain traction and become preferred for local transactions.

Tshabangu’s remarks reflect a nuanced approach to economic policy, acknowledging the necessity of a local currency while also emphasizing the importance of public trust and confidence in its value.

By supporting the ZiG currency and advocating for measures to boost its acceptance, Tshabangu demonstrates a pragmatic stance towards economic development and monetary policy in Zimbabwe.

The commissioning event highlighted broader discussions around economic revitalization and resource development in the region.

Tshabangu’s comments underscore the significance of domestic currency initiatives as part of the government’s broader economic agenda.

As Zimbabwe continues to navigate economic challenges, Tshabangu’s endorsement of the ZiG currency signals a potential shift in perceptions towards the government’s economic policies.

The emphasis on confidence-building measures underscores the importance of public trust in driving economic stability and growth.

Villagers Humiliate Mnangagwa’s Wife

By A Correspondent

In a troubling turn of events, nine villagers from Manicaland Province in Zimbabwe found themselves behind bars last week simply for expressing their discontent by booing Mrs. Auxillia Mnangagwa, the First Lady of Zimbabwe.

The incident occurred during Mrs Mnangagwa’s visit to the Watsomba Business Centre, where she was addressing the local community.

What began as a form of dissent, born out of frustration over alleged non-receipt of charitable aid, quickly escalated into a legal matter with severe consequences for those involved.

According to reports, the villagers had voiced their disappointment after not receiving promised aid during Mrs Mnangagwa’s charitable outreach.

This act of dissent, however, was met with swift and harsh retribution by the authorities.

The nine women were charged with disorderly conduct in a public place, a charge that has sparked outrage and condemnation from human rights advocates both within Zimbabwe and internationally.

The incident underscores a troubling trend in Zimbabwe, where dissent against the ruling elite is met with heavy-handed tactics.

The women’s arrest highlights a broader pattern of curtailing freedom of expression and assembly in the country.

In response to the arrests, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) stepped in to provide legal assistance to the detainees.

According to ZLHR, the charges against the women are unjust and represent a clear violation of their fundamental rights. Speaking on behalf of ZLHR, a representative stated:

“The charges against these women are disproportionate and an affront to their basic rights. Expressing discontent or criticism, even towards public figures, is not a criminal offense.”

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation on social media, with many decrying the heavy-handed response to what should have been a protected form of expression. Zimbabwean journalist, Tawanda Majoni, took to Twitter to voice his outrage:

“Highest level of madness. These women were charged for booing Auxillia Mnangagwa. The alleged behavior exhibited by the 9 women was deemed unlawful, abusive, and insulting to Mnangagwa.”

The arrests highlight the precarious state of civil liberties in Zimbabwe, where dissent is often met with punitive measures.

The right to peacefully express grievances is a cornerstone of any democratic society, and its erosion in Zimbabwe raises serious concerns about the state of governance and human rights in the country.

As the international community continues to monitor the situation, pressure is mounting on Zimbabwean authorities to uphold the rule of law and respect citizens’ fundamental freedoms. The fate of these nine villagers serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those who dare to challenge authority in Zimbabwe.

Zanu PF MP’s Violent Tackle Sparks Controversy in Premier Soccer League

By A Correspondent

In a recent Premier Soccer League match, Innocent Dambudzo Benza, a Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Mutasa Central Constituency, caused a stir by violently tackling a player during the game. Benza, who is also the owner of PSL side Herentals FC and an active player at the age of 51, is facing criticism for his actions on the field.

The incident has raised questions about sportsmanship and the behavior of public figures in competitive sports. Benza’s aggressive tackle has been labeled as uncharacteristic and has drawn attention to broader concerns about political influence in sports.

In response to the incident, analysts have suggested that the tackle reflects a broader perception of Zanu PF’s approach, with some even describing it as a manifestation of party-associated brutality.

One analyst commented, “The crude tackle by Benza is a direct reflection of Zanu PF brutality, and it raises concerns about the intersection of politics and sports.”

The controversy surrounding Benza’s actions highlights the need for ethical conduct and professionalism in sports, particularly when public figures are involved.

As a Member of Parliament and a prominent figure in Zimbabwean football, Benza’s behavior during the match has sparked debate and calls for accountability.

The incident occurred during a highly anticipated Premier Soccer League tie, drawing attention from fans and observers alike. Benza’s dual roles as a politician and football club owner add complexity to the situation, with many questioning the implications of his actions on and off the field.

As discussions unfold, stakeholders are urging authorities to investigate the incident and ensure that fair play and respect remain core principles of Zimbabwean sports.

The controversy serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with holding positions of influence, both in politics and in the sporting arena.

Efforts to address the incident and its broader implications are underway, emphasizing the importance of upholding integrity and sportsmanship at all levels of competition.

Watsomba Villagers Undress Auxillia Mnangagwa

By Political Reporter- The First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa was last Wednesday booed by villagers at Watsomba Business Centre in Manicaland province.

The villagers, predominantly women, voiced their discontent after reportedly missing out on the charitable offerings being distributed by Mnangagwa as part of her philanthropic endeavours.

However, instead of addressing their grievances, the response was swift and heavy-handed.

Nine women, identified as Nester Chatiwana, Panashe Machekanzondo, Winnet Sithole, Maria Choto, Esnath Choto, Ellen Rujuwa, Faith Chidhakwa, Patience Matasva, and Joyce Mashingaidza, found themselves in police custody, accused of disrupting the peace under section 41(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

According to the prosecution, the women’s actions were deemed disorderly, disrespectful, and aimed at causing a disturbance during Mnangagwa’s speech. Their alleged conduct, which included booing the First Lady, was considered an affront to her dignity.

Yet, amidst the legal proceedings, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) intervened.

Lawyers Tatenda Sigauke and David Tandiri secured the release of the women on free bail, highlighting potential procedural irregularities in their arrest.

The defense presented by Chatiwana and her companions refuted the charges, asserting they were unfairly targeted in a sweeping arrest operation.

They maintained they had left the venue before Mnangagwa concluded her speech and before any dismissal announcement was made.

This incident of public dissent against a prominent figure mirrors a similar event in November 2017, when ZANU PF youths heckled former First Lady Grace Mugabe at White City Stadium in Bulawayo.

The repercussions of that incident, where youths faced prosecution for insulting Mugabe, resonate with the current situation.

It’s worth noting that the ZANU PF youths, also represented by ZLHR, were eventually acquitted after charges of insulting or undermining the former First Lady were dropped.

The echoes of past confrontations between the public and political figures underscore ongoing tensions within Zimbabwe’s political landscape, raising questions about freedom of expression and the limits of dissent in the country.

Political Standoff Unfolds As Chamisa Accuses Mnangagwa of Orchestrating MP Recalls

By A Correspondent

In a recent development surrounding the ongoing recalls of Members of Parliament and councillors initiated by Sengezo Tshabangu, opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has pointed a direct finger at his political rival, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

This accusation marks a significant escalation in the already tense political landscape of Zimbabwe.

Advocate Chamisa’s accusations were voiced in a statement where he openly attributed the MP recalls to interference from the state apparatus under President Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Chamisa’s words carry weight, as he firmly stated, “THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH … When all is said and done, all who are truthful and honest shall admit and acknowledge the repeated role of the State in the plot and engineered illegal MP recalls, political parties finance diversion and criminal takeover of the alternative in 2020 and 2023.”

The language used by Chamisa underscores the gravity of the situation, hinting at systemic manipulation and political maneuvering aimed at weakening opposition forces.

His reference to a “plot” and “engineered illegal MP recalls” paints a picture of deliberate and calculated efforts to destabilize his party and derail political alternatives.

Moreover, Chamisa’s call for history to vindicate his party’s stance and conviction reflects a strategic move to garner public support and international attention.

By positioning his party as the victim of state-sponsored interference, Chamisa seeks to rally support behind his cause and discredit the legitimacy of the MP recalls.

It’s crucial to note the context of these accusations within Zimbabwe’s broader political context.

President Mnangagwa and Advocate Chamisa represent two opposing factions that have been locked in a bitter power struggle since the contested elections of 2018.

The recall of MPs aligned with Chamisa’s party further exacerbates this tension, as it directly impacts the balance of power within Zimbabwe’s legislative framework.

The unfolding standoff between Chamisa and Mnangagwa underscores the challenges facing Zimbabwe’s democratic processes and governance.

Allegations of state interference in political affairs raise concerns about the erosion of democratic principles and the potential consolidation of power within the ruling party.

As the situation continues to evolve, observers will closely monitor the responses from both sides of the political divide.

President Mnangagwa’s administration is likely to refute Chamisa’s accusations, emphasizing adherence to legal processes and due diligence.

Meanwhile, Advocate Chamisa and his supporters are expected to intensify their calls for international intervention and solidarity.

In conclusion, the accusations leveled by Advocate Nelson Chamisa against President Emmerson Mnangagwa represent a critical juncture in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

The ongoing MP recalls and their alleged orchestration by state actors have heightened tensions and underscored the challenges facing democracy in the country.

As the standoff unfolds, the stakes are high for both sides, with significant implications for Zimbabwe’s future political trajectory.

Zanu PF Who Once Claimed To Be Untouchable In Trouble Over Move To Evict Vulnerable Villagers

Zanu-PF Mberengwa North legislator Tinashe Shumba has been taken to court after he tried to evict villagers from their ancestral lands to pave way for his gold mining activities.

The villagers, led by John Dube and Itai Zhou, cited Kubatana mining Syndicate represented by Shumba, the Mines and Mining Development ministry as well as the officer in charge of police’s Central Investigations Department’s minerals section in Zvishavane as respondents in the case.

According to court papers, sometime in 2023 Zhou obtained a prospecting licence under the name Kubatana Mining Syndicate.

Dube submitted that around March 27 to 29 this year, Shumba and his associates invaded their plot and grazing lands prospecting for gold.

Shumba then boasted that he was so powerful that he was untouchable, Dube alleged.

“Realising the seriousness of these threats and the activities, which were underway and our absolute lack of protection from such forceful threats and intrusions I sent Zhou and his son Tatenda Zhou to the police (third respondent) to report these developments and they did so,” Dube submitted.

“At the police station the officials contacted Shumba and he admitted to be the one undertaking these intrusions and upon being asked to come to the police station he chose to send his manager, who in no time was at the police station.”

He submitted that police instructed Shumba to stop the mining operations, but he refused resulting in the case spilling into the courts.

“Surprisingly, Shumba’s menacing team has remained operating in our homestead heavily armed and threatening to harm anyone who interferes with their mining activities in our fields and homestead,” he said.

Dube said he is a holder of a valid settlement permit LSCFA/0230780 of stand number 209 under Chief Maziofa situated at Zhou’s homestead.

The permit was issued on July 13, 2009 and has 15 hectares of arable land issued in terms of the Mberengwa Rural District’s Council Settlement Permits, 2006.

Dube has lived together with Zhou and at least 17 family members since then.

In his application, Dube sought an interdict against Shumba’s mining operations at his property.

“Attempts at engagement by the applicants cited herein have been futile and instead Shumba has resorted to employing violence, influence, force, intimidations and harassment to my family,” he said.

“I have a right to property and protection of the law.

“No-one is above the law and Shumba has a duty to respect mining laws.

“l have constitutional rights that ought to be respected, protected and preserved.

“Shumba’s actions amount to self-help and taking the law into his own hand.”

He said his family members now live in fear of Shumba and his associates.

“Some of the armed personnel have been roaming around my property in an intimidating fashion threatening my family with all sorts of harm if we interfere with their operation,” he said.

“As we speak Shumba and his agents are gathering ore and causing untoward damage on my land without my consent and at my loss.

“l am indisposed and generally unwell and of fairly advanced age, hence l have always tasked Zhou and his son Tatenda to run the operations at the homestead.”

Masvingo High Court judge Justice Garainesu Mawadze granted the provisional order in favour of Dube and Zhou, which stopped the mining operations pending hearing.

FC Wangu Mazodze Wallops Midway

Midway FC 0-3 FC Wangu Mazodze

15 April 2024

By Stephen Chuma

FC Wangu Mazodze started their Eastern Region Division 1 League campaign with a sound beating of Midway FC at Vhengere Stadium in Rusape yesterday.

The Kingdom Boys as the team is affectionately known by its legions of fans started the match on a high note bombarding the Midway FC goal area.

It did not take long before their efforts were rewarded with a fine header from the impressive Maxwell Murimi in the 19th minute.

From there on it was a one way traffic with the Masvingo based club restricting Midway to zero shots on target and no corner kick in the first half. On their part FC Wangu Mazodze had three corners but could not add to their tally before the break.

In the second half it did not take long for the Zhalala Zhululu Boys to add to their tally with Tinaye Tsimba extending the team’s lead on the 53th minute to send their vocal supporters into delirium.

From there on it was a matter of how many goals the John Nyikadzino coached side could harvest on the afternoon.

On the 78 minute, coach Nyikadzino made some changes taking off goal scorer Tinaye Tsimba and Michael Bastos Chihowa. In came Edward Mafa and Prosper Andrea.

Mafa soon made his impact felt as he scored in the 90th minute to extend FC Wangu Mazodze’s lead.

Though it is early days, FC Wangu Mazodze looks like a team on a mission and will be serious contenders for Eastern Region Division 1 League title and promotion to the top flight league.

Up next, FC Wangu Mazodze is going to take on Destiny FC on Sunday at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo.

Hidden Facts About The Useless ZiG Currency

By Business Reporter- The Zanu PF government is lying to the nation that the recently launched Zimbabwe Gold is the strongest currency in the region and is not telling the people that the new money can not buy fuel at the local market.

While all countries, including Zimbabwe’s neighbours, utilise their local currencies to purchase fuel, Zimbabwe stands alone, unable to employ its own currency for this basic necessity.

Last week, the government proudly introduced the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) Structured Currency, touting it as a significant milestone.

However, this currency has quickly revealed its ineffectiveness as it cannot be used to procure fuel.

Petrol stations refuse to recognise it as legal tender, rendering it useless for everyday transactions.

A functional currency must possess the essential characteristics of money, serving as a reliable store of value and a medium of exchange, qualities which ZiG clearly lacks.

This revelation exposes the fallacy of the government’s claims regarding the strength of Zimbabwe’s currency.

In contrast, neighbouring countries such as South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Eswatini, and Lesotho conduct fuel transactions seamlessly using their respective local currencies.

Despite Zimbabwe’s proximity and fuel importation like its neighbours, the discrepancy in currency utility is glaring.

Shockingly, despite ZiG’s failure to facilitate basic transactions within Zimbabwe, some individuals still propagate the unfounded notion that it holds the highest value among all currencies in Southern Africa.

Such baseless assertions border on economic mysticism rather than sound financial reasoning.

This situation underscores the urgent need for transparency and accountability within Zimbabwe’s economic policies.

Instead of misleading the public with empty rhetoric, the government must address the fundamental issues hindering the functionality of its currency.

Failure to do so only perpetuates Zimbabweans’ economic challenges and erodes trust in the country’s leadership.

Britain’s Hand In Mugabe 2017 Coup Exposed

By Political Reporter- The British government actively participated in the removal of the late President Robert Mugabe through a military coup in November 2017, a top former British minister has divulged.

According to Stewart’s memoir, “Politics On the Edge—A Memoir From Within,” Britain saw Mugabe’s removal as an opportunity to reshape Zimbabwe’s foreign policy in its favour.

Stewart’s firsthand account provides a glimpse into the frantic moments surrounding Mugabe’s downfall, particularly from the British perspective.

He sheds light on the role of then-British Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Catriona Laing, who ardently advocated for supporting Emerson Mnangagwa as a pragmatic leader who could steer the country toward positive change.

However, despite Laing’s efforts to nurture a relationship with Mnangagwa and her optimism about his potential, Stewart highlights the failure of Britain’s policy of appeasement.

Despite warnings about Mnangagwa’s track record regarding human rights violations and corruption, Laing persisted in her support, even dismissing the idea of setting conditions for Mnangagwa’s support.

Stewart’s narrative underscores the British Foreign Office’s reluctance to challenge Zimbabwe’s status quo.

Despite his scepticism about Mnangagwa’s reformist credentials, Stewart became the first foreign minister to meet with Mnangagwa after the coup, where he emphasised the importance of credible elections and inclusive policies.

However, Mnangagwa’s subsequent actions, including the deployment of soldiers to quell dissent, shattered any hopes for meaningful change.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Stewart laments the failure of the British system to make a difference in Zimbabwe, as Mnangagwa’s regime reverted to authoritarianism and economic instability.

Despite the monumental miscalculations revealed in Stewart’s memoir, Ambassador Laing has yet to acknowledge her misjudgments regarding Mnangagwa’s willingness to reform.

Stewart’s book provides a critical examination of Britain’s role in Zimbabwe’s political upheaval, serving as a reminder of the complexities and consequences of foreign intervention in African affairs.

Smith & Apartheid Regimes Were Angels Compared to 44 year Old “independent” Zimbabwe

Talking in terms of segregation, oppression and savagery towards those considered as foreigners or political undesirables, no present or past government in Southern Africa matches the black Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe. Not even the Rhodesian colonialists, not even the apartheid regime of South Africa.

Faced with 1981-87 Matabele genocide that killed more Matabele civilians than the Anglo- Matabele War of 1893, Matabele Rebellion War of 1896 and the War of Zimbabwe Independence of 1965 to 1979 all combined, most Matabeles chose to take refuge in the apartheid South Africa. Matabeles found it far much better than the Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe which had turned against black innocent Matabele civilians, slaughtering them in the most horrendous manner which made the Smith and apartheid regimes look like angels. These acts of genocide happened in the so called independent Zimbabwe.

Is there anybody who is surprised that Zimbabwe, at 44 years of independence, looks like an AIDs patient who refuses to take life saving ARVs?

Zimbabwe has fallen from the top of the economic graph as a bread basket of Africa to be a failed state without its own currency, ravaged by uncontrolled corruption and deserted by its citizens. The Shona supremacists turned it into a huge killing field for slaughtering and oppressing Matabeles. Elections are recognised only if they are won by ZANU PF. The desperate party which reached its sell by date long back has invited the army into the political arena.

This makes politics in Zimbabwe more dangerous. Soldiers come out of the barracks with their guns, with their guns they solve political problems. Hence we have seen the military coup of 2017. As long as the gun men in Zimbabwe have discovered how easy it is to stage a successful coup and have tasted the sweetness of power, they will always hang around in the political arena. The second coup is loading, maybe the third as well as the fourth. Lightning strikes twice but a military coup can strike many times.

Slowly but surely, Zimbabwe is disintegrating into two states. To this effect Matabeleland Liberation Organisation (MLO) has served the government of Zimbabwe with Notice of Demand for the Restoration of Matabeleland State through its President Cde Paul Siwela.

The genocidist President of Zimbabwe Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa who holds a strong belief that Matabeles are cockroaches that need to be annihilated using pesticide, pretends as if he has not seen the Notice of Demand. But on more than two occasions he has come out guns blazing, threatening to cut- short the lives of Matabeles that are peacefully advocating for the restoration of Matabeleland statehood. To him, innocent Matabeles peacefully demanding the restoration of their state must not be given an ear, they must be killed just like that. That is the kind of life Matabeles are living in the supposedly independent Zimbabwe.

Is the Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe and its President aware that it is the Notice Of Demand For The Restoration Of Matabeleland State not a letter to seek their opinion or input? We mean every word in it, we are not apologising and our good cause has no reverse gear. Mr Mnangagwa is kicking the cane down the road and he knows it. Matabeleland independence can be delayed but it cannot be stopped. No one will stop an idea who’s time has come.

He is not even ashamed to stand up in the ZANU PF rallies and threaten to kill Matabeles who have not killed even a fly in their Matabeleland independence campaign but maintain a deafening silence on violent para military Shona youths by the Shona name (mashurugwi) who have taken it upon themselves to raid Matabeleland and kill innocent Matabeles any time they wish.

There is no doubt that Amashurugwi are Motivated by the unresolved Matabele genocide of 1981- 87 and the hate speeches against Matabeles by Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe during and after the genocide. The Shona people and their children have taken a leaf from an evil Zimbabwe government document known as The 1979 Grand Plan which says Matabeles must be decimated.

Whenever they feel like, they form groups of 40 to 60 people, arm themselves with machetes and axes, tools that have been declared dangerous weapons of genocide in the Great Lakes. They are then driven in open trucks to Matabeleland where they conduct day light raids, killing innocent Matabeles, hacking some with machetes and axes and severely injuring them. They then proceed to take mining claims, gold, money and in some cases slaughter cattle and goats which they take by force from Matabele poor villagers. Yes this happens in the so called independant Zimbabwe.

The repeated falsehoods that Zimbabwe is happily independent, Matabeles and Shonas are united and Zimbabwe is peaceful and politically stable must be dismissed with the contempt they deserve.

The fact of the matter is Zimbabwe War of Independence brought freedom only to one side of the country ie Mashonaland. Shonas enjoy the national cake as they are the only beneficiaries occupying all highest positions in the government, public and private sector while Matabeles are tribally segregated and marginalised in politics, economy, education, job market and all spheres of life. Can we say Zimbabweans are united?

Matabeles in the government of Zimbabwe are given goat skinning roles. For instance, Kembo Mohadi cannot tell us that he is the Vice President of Zimbabwe. No! He is a political dummy. His actual position is at the braai stands, to prepare roasted meet for his masters. Matabeles know better that such roles are relegated to boys (abafana) and adults who are not intellectually gifted to contribute meaningfully in crucial meetings and gatherings.

Every time when Shonas talk about Emmerson Mnangagwa’s successor they mansion, Contantine Chiwenga, Nelson Chamisa and Saviour Kasukuwere who is not even in Zimbabwe. Kembo Mohadi is in Zimbabwe but no Shona, not even a drunk one will ever recommend him for the position in a so called independent Zimbabwe, simply because he is not Shona but Matabele. We laughed our lungs out last month when Emmerson Mnangagwa totally forgot Kembo Mohadi’s name at an event. How possible is that? That happens only in Zimbabwe. The position of the 2nd Vice President is of no value. A Matabele in Zimbabwe is regarded as inferior to Shona. That is why Mr Mnangagwa forgot his name.

He is not the only Matabele to be given the humiliating goat skinning role in the Zimbabwe government. We had Joshua Nkomo who was mockingly referred to as Father Zimbabwe. His actual position was at the braai stands too. With all his war credentials as ZAPU President and Commander in Chief of Zipra Forces and political legacy which was even greater than that of Mugabe, Shonas would name Simon Muzenda and the likes of Solomon Mujuru who were by far his juniors, as Mugabe’s successors. We feel sorry for “Father Zimbabwe” who was not allowed to be the President of the same Zimbabwe until he died. We feel more sorry for those who fall for this stupid Father Zimbabwe political hoax. The same goes for John Nkomo.

It was the same embarrassing storey about Phekelezela Mphoko. The man mistakenly thought his 2nd Vice President position was equal to Emmerson Mnangagwa 1st Vice President position by then. He denied that Mnangagwa was his superior and caused a situation in the ZANU PF rallies. But his own faction, the G40 disappointed him. They played a tribal card against him. Thus, Grace Mugabe and Saviour Kasukuwere who were not in the presidium were named as Mugabe’s successors.

Follow Uncle Thom and you will end up at the braai stands in Harare like him. Thank God. Matabele masses are not as gullible as “House Negros” who are in the minority.

When MLO says lets break- away from Zimbabwe and restore the statehood of Matabeleland, Matabele masses that are in the majority respond by saying we want it as soon as yesterday, we will do whatever it takes to achieve Matabeleland independence and sovereignty even if it means paying with our own lives.

There is no independence in Zimbabwe when Matabeleland is under tribal oppression and in danger of being wiped out of the face of earth. There is no unity in Zimbabwe when Matabeles are treated like foreigners in the land of their ancestors, Matabele land. There is no peace in Zimbabwe when Matabeles have to be submissive to their oppressors. Stand up and fight tribal oppression, tribal segregation and Matabele genocide.

There is no peace in Zimbabwe but calm before a great political storm, a great revolution that will change the geography and size of Zimbabwe. A great revolution that will forever change the lives of the people of Matabeleland and bring a smile to their faces, bring freedom, self determination, dignity and pride.

ZANU PF to Control Distribution of Food Aid, Asserts Mnangagwa Amid Drought Crisis

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye| In a significant announcement that underscores the deepening crisis in Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa declared that his party, ZANU PF, will exclusively oversee the identification and distribution of food aid in response to the country’s severe drought. The statement came during a poignant address over the weekend, where the president also highlighted the government’s strategies to combat the escalating food scarcity exacerbated by climate change.

“Our government is well-prepared to manage this crisis. Just as we overcame the challenges of a prolonged liberation struggle and land reclamation, we are determined to ensure no Zimbabwean suffers from hunger,” President Mnangagwa stated. He drew parallels between the country’s historical challenges and the current drought, emphasizing the resilience and unity required to surmount this natural calamity.

Amidst growing concerns over food distribution and accusations of partisanship, the President reassured the public that the ZANU PF-led government would handle the situation with the utmost efficacy. “We have initiated comprehensive measures to guarantee ample food supplies. It is imperative that our party plays a pivotal role in timely pinpointing those who require aid,” he explained.

The government plans to enhance the agricultural sector’s resilience against climate changes by modernizing and expanding infrastructure.

“We are accelerating the construction of dams and establishing extensive irrigation systems across all provinces to fortify our agricultural foundations,” the President elaborated.

This policy decision has sparked debate among opposition parties and humanitarian groups, who fear that food aid could become politicized, potentially sidelining vulnerable populations not aligned with ZANU PF. Critics argue that food security should transcend political lines, especially in times of such dire need.

The announcement also comes at a time when Zimbabwe is grappling with the dual threats of economic instability and the residual impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, making the efficient distribution of food aid more crucial than ever.As Zimbabweans brace for the implications of this new policy, the international community watches closely, hopeful that aid distribution will be fair and that the nation can weather this drought with the unity and resilience President Mnangagwa called for.

All Eyes On Mutsvangwa Today

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | High Drama and Tensions Surround ZANU PF Spokesman Chris Mutsvangwa’s Press Conference TodayToday, all eyes are on Chris Mutsvangwa, the ZANU PF Spokesman, as he steps up to the microphone for a highly anticipated press conference.

This event comes just days after a swiftly convened politburo meeting, adding layers of intrigue and speculation about the internal dynamics of the ruling party.

The atmosphere is charged, particularly given recent events involving Mutsvangwa. Just two months ago, he made headlines with his stark threats against Emmerson Mnangagwa’s political rival, Nelson Chamisa, criticizing Chamisa’s resignation from the CCC party—a move Mutsvangwa claims was influenced by ZANU PF’s infiltration.

Adding to the drama, Mutsvangwa’s farm was the target of a brutal arson attack on Christmas Eve, an act of violence that tore through his Halfway Tobacco farm, devastating the crop and causing extensive financial damage. The attack, described by activist Kerina Mujati as involving grenades, highlights a possible escalation in the political strife between Mutsvangwa and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.”

Amid the sound of explosions that night, the implications were clear: no one is safe in these volatile political times,” Mujati said, her voice heavy with concern. “Chris and his family barely escaped physical harm, but the scars of such an assault will linger.”

The press conference today is set against this backdrop of personal and political turbulence. Rumors swirl about Mutsvangwa’s standing within the party, particularly after contentious debates within ZANU PF about his allegedly problematic relations with a high-ranking party superior—a matter so sensitive that the details remain cloaked in secrecy.

Veteran ZANU PF Central Committee member Phillip Chiyangwa, in a file video, shed some light on the party’s internal customs. “In ZANU PF, historical precedents dictate troubling practices, where men are expected to yield to the whims of their seniors,” he stated, referring to longstanding traditions that date back to the 1960s

As journalists and political analysts gather, the questions poised for Mutsvangwa are manifold: Will he address the attack and his political future? How will he navigate the accusations and internal party dynamics? The press conference promises to be a pivotal moment for Mutsvangwa and ZANU PF as they grapple with the revelations and repercussions of recent months. The world watches on, awaiting answers that could reshape the contours of Zimbabwean political life.- ZimEye

Nelson Chamisa Gives Nation Hope

By A Correspondent

In a recent address, Zimbabwean opposition leader Nelson Chamisa projected a hopeful future for his country, despite its current challenges.

Chamisa, known for his steadfast religious beliefs, offered an optimistic outlook, emphasizing a transformation from adversity to prosperity.

Addressing critics of his biblical principles, Chamisa remarked, “We are going through a rough patch but it’s the pathway to our blessed, prosperous and glorious future. All this current nonsense shall disappear.

Common sense shall be common everywhere. All this begging shall go away. We shall be a leading and lending nation.

Plenty is our portion. Zimbabwe shall be fruitful again! Revival is coming!”

Chamisa’s remarks reflect a deeply rooted confidence in the potential of Zimbabwe to overcome its present difficulties and reclaim its status as a thriving nation.

His vision appears to be grounded in a mix of religious faith and political optimism.

The opposition leader’s invocation of scripture, specifically referencing Isaiah 30:20-23, underscores his belief that divine intervention will play a role in Zimbabwe’s restoration.

Chamisa’s rhetoric is laden with hope and conviction, with statements like “Receive the Sabbath blessings!! #Godisinit” framing his aspirations in a spiritual context.

Critics have often questioned Chamisa’s reliance on biblical metaphors and prophetic language in his political discourse.

However, his supporters see this fusion of faith and politics as a source of inspiration and assurance during turbulent times.

In response to Chamisa’s proclamation, Zimbabweans are divided.

Some view his predictions as unrealistic or overly reliant on faith, while others find solace in his message of hope.

The country’s economic challenges, marked by inflation, unemployment, and political instability, have left many skeptical of grand promises.

Nevertheless, Chamisa’s rhetoric resonates with a segment of the population eager for change and revitalization.

His emphasis on a future marked by abundance and productivity strikes a chord with those yearning for a return to prosperity.

As Zimbabwe navigates through a critical juncture in its history, leaders like Nelson Chamisa play a pivotal role in shaping public discourse and setting the tone for national aspirations.

Whether his predictions materialize remains to be seen, but Chamisa’s unwavering optimism serves as a beacon of hope for many Zimbabweans amidst uncertainty.

SA Deports 5 Zim Kids

In a sudden move that underscores the increasing challenges at South Africa’s borders, Border Management Authority (BMA) Commissioner Mike Masiapato announced the interception and subsequent deportation of five children at Beitbridge, one of the busiest ports of entry, on Sunday. These minors, handed over to the Department of Social Development, were quickly processed and returned to Zimbabwe to reunite with their families.

“The collaboration with our Zimbabwean counterparts was crucial to ensure the safe return of these children to their homes,” Masiapato explained, highlighting the swift international cooperation.

Additionally, at Grobler’s Bridge, another critical border point, authorities encountered a woman with a child attempting to exit South Africa for the Democratic Republic of Congo via Botswana without proper documentation.

Lacking a passport and carrying only an emergency travel document for herself, the woman’s child was undocumented. Both were taken to a secure facility in Limpopo by social services. These incidents came amid a significant increase in border activity, with Masiapato reporting that 1,136,250 travelers were processed across 71 ports of entry in just ten days—an over 20% increase from the previous year.

During the same period, nearly 4,000 individuals were intercepted for attempting to cross the border illegally.

“Of those, 2,403 had no documents whatsoever, and were declared undesirable for five years,” Masiapato said. Others were turned away for having invalid passports or failing to present necessary health certifications, like the yellow fever certificate. The BMA has intensified security measures, deploying an additional 400 junior border guards to manage the influx and ensure safe, legal crossings.

“These efforts have considerably decreased the number of undocumented minors attempting to enter,” Masiapato noted, pointing to a shift towards stronger enforcement and streamlined operations at the borders. This reinforced border control comes as South Africa continues to grapple with high volumes of undocumented migration, stressing the importance of maintaining robust security measures while ensuring humane treatment of all individuals, especially minors.- Agencies

Mnangagwa Confronts Zanu PF Bigwigs Over ZiG

By A Correspondent

In a statement on Friday, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has rallied members of the Zanu PF politburo to unite in support of the nation’s new currency, emphasizing its crucial role in achieving sustainable socio-economic development and preserving national sovereignty.

President Mnangagwa’s directive underscores a pivotal moment in Zimbabwe’s economic trajectory, marked by the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZIG) currency, designed to bolster economic stability and spur growth amid persistent challenges.

During a gathering of Zanu PF leaders in Harare, President Mnangagwa delivered a message, asserting that “sustainable socio-economic development and sovereignty can only be achieved through the use of a local currency.”

His words reflect a commitment to charting a distinct economic path for Zimbabwe, emphasizing self-reliance and independence from external financial systems.

The launch of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZIG) currency represents a significant departure from previous currency regimes, aiming to leverage the nation’s natural resources to underpin its monetary value.

The move aligns with broader efforts to reduce dependency on foreign currencies and stabilize the domestic economy.

President Mnangagwa’s appeal to the Zanu PF politburo members signals a critical juncture in the implementation of economic reforms, calling for unwavering support and solidarity behind the new currency initiative.

The success of Zimbabwe’s economic revival, according to the President, hinges on widespread acceptance and utilization of the local currency.

However, the President’s stance has not been without controversy.

Critics caution against potential risks associated with the rapid adoption of a new currency, citing historical precedents and lingering doubts about the efficacy of such measures in addressing systemic economic challenges.

The introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZIG) currency has sparked debates across the nation, with citizens and policymakers alike weighing the potential benefits and risks.

Proponents view the initiative as a bold step towards economic autonomy, while skeptics remain cautious amid prevailing uncertainties.

As Zimbabwe navigates this critical phase of economic transition, the role of political leadership, exemplified by President Mnangagwa’s directives, assumes paramount importance.

The success of the new currency hinges not only on its intrinsic value but also on the collective confidence and support of the Zimbabwean populace.

In the coming months, the nation will closely monitor the performance and reception of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZIG) currency, gauging its impact on inflation, trade dynamics, and overall economic stability.

President Mnangagwa’s call for unity and commitment underscores the challenges and opportunities ahead as Zimbabwe forges ahead on its path towards economic renewal and sovereignty.

Mnangagwa Chases Away Starlink

By A Correspondent

In a surprising move, the Zimbabwean government under Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken steps to ban Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, within the country.

This decision, which was enforced by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), has sparked concerns over the state of internet access and freedom in the nation.

Starlink’s withdrawal from Zimbabwe was announced shortly after POTRAZ issued a directive instructing the company to disable its services.

This abrupt turn of events has left Zimbabweans, particularly those relying on Starlink for reliable internet access, in a state of uncertainty.

In response to the ban, Starlink expressed its intent to engage in discussions with POTRAZ in hopes of resolving the regulatory issues.

The company stated, “We will continue to work with POTRAZ to obtain the necessary regulatory approvals to resume Starlink services in Zimbabwe as soon as possible.”

This move by the Zimbabwean authorities appears to be part of broader efforts to maintain control over information flows and internet access within the country.

Zimbabwe has a history of restrictive policies towards telecommunications, and the ban on Starlink may be seen as a measure to consolidate state control over digital communication platforms.

The decision to ban Starlink has drawn criticism from various quarters, with concerns raised about the impact on Zimbabwe’s digital infrastructure and the right to access information freely.

The move is seen by many as a setback for efforts to expand internet connectivity and bridge the digital divide in Zimbabwe.

In light of the ban, Zimbabweans who were relying on Starlink for internet services now face disruptions in their connectivity.

Starlink users received notifications advising them on how to pause their services amidst the regulatory challenges. According to Starlink, “You may pause service and billing by following instructions…”

This development raises questions about the future of internet access in Zimbabwe and underscores the importance of regulatory frameworks that balance state interests with the rights of citizens to access information and communication technologies.

The banning of Starlink serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those seeking to expand internet access and digital freedoms in environments where state control over telecommunications remains prevalent.

As discussions between Starlink and Zimbabwean regulators continue, stakeholders will closely monitor the outcome, hoping for a resolution that prioritizes the interests of Zimbabwean citizens and the broader goals of expanding connectivity in the country.

Real Madrid’s Brazilian Star Returns

Sports Correspondent

Real Madrid’s defensive fortunes are taking a bittersweet turn as they gear up for a crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City.

While star defender David Alaba remains sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a serious knee injury, there’s a silver lining with the return of Eder Militao to action.

Militao, who has been out with an injury, is set to bolster Madrid’s defensive line just in time for the high-stakes encounter with Manchester City.

The first leg of this thrilling fixture saw the two giants battle it out in a remarkable 3-3 draw in the Spanish capital, setting the stage for what promises to be another captivating match.

However, the absence of David Alaba, who has been a key figure in Madrid’s defense, leaves a significant void. Alaba’s injury has ruled him out not just for the remainder of this campaign but potentially into the start of the 2024/25 season.

The Austrian international will now focus on rehabilitation during the off-season in hopes of making a full recovery.

In contrast, Eder Militao’s return provides a much-needed boost to the Real Madrid backline.

The Brazilian defender’s athleticism, speed, and defensive prowess will be instrumental in Madrid’s efforts to contain Manchester City’s formidable attacking threat.

Looking ahead to the upcoming clash, both teams will be aiming to secure a spot in the Champions League semi-finals, with everything to play for in the second leg.

Real Madrid will be relying on Militao’s solidity at the back to complement their attacking prowess, led by the likes of Joselu and Vinícius Júnior.

UK Assisted Mnangagwa To Remove Mugabe

By Political Reporter- Former British minister for Africa Rory Stewart has unveiled the British government’s involvement in the ousting of President Robert Mugabe in 2017.

Mnangagwa Consolidates Power, Promotes Six Influential Soldiers

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa continues consolidating power and has promoted six senior military officers.

Since assuming office in November 2017 through a military-backed coup, Mnangagwa has consistently elevated soldiers who played pivotal roles in ousting former President Robert Mugabe from power.

This trend has been accompanied by the removal of top military figures suspected of loyalty to Mnangagwa’s deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, who is positioned to succeed him within Zanu PF’s hierarchy.

Among the latest promotions reported by ZBC, Lieutenant General David Sigauke has risen to the rank of Substantive General, while Brigadier General Justin Mujaji has been elevated to Major General.

Air Marshal Elson Moyo now holds the position of Air Chief Marshal, and Major General Chris Mupande has been promoted to Lieutenant General.

Additionally, Brigadier Generals Tendai Dzirutwe and Themba Mlambo have ascended to the rank of Major Generals.

Addressing the investiture ceremony in Harare on Friday, April 12, Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Phillip Valerio Sibanda, offered congratulatory remarks to the promoted officers, urging them to maintain their dedication to national service.

However, the promotions have raised eyebrows among observers, who view them as part of Mnangagwa’s strategy to consolidate power and ensure loyalty within the military ranks.

Critics argue that rewarding individuals linked to the regime’s rise to power undermines democratic principles and fosters a culture of impunity.

In response, Air Chief Marshal Elson Moyo, speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged unwavering commitment to serving the nation.

President Mnangagwa’s authority to bestow such promotions stems from the Defence Act, which grants him the prerogative, in consultation with the Minister of Defence and the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, to reward members for distinguished service or exemplary conduct.

While Mnangagwa’s administration frames these promotions as recognition of merit, skeptics perceive them as part of a broader strategy to consolidate power and perpetuate the ruling party’s dominance.

As tensions simmer over the government’s handling of military appointments, concerns persist regarding the erosion of democratic norms and the entrenchment of authoritarianism in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Tshabangu Makes More Parliament Appointments

By Political Reporter- Sengezo Tshabangu, the CCC self-imposed secretary-general has made another five parliament appointments in the sinking opposition CCC.

The appointments, he said, have been made to fill the vacancies in the Senate that arose following the recall of the party’s senators he recalled last year.

Those nominated include former Harare Central MP, Murisi Zwizwai, a long-serving opposition legislator.

The names of the nominees were announced this Friday, 12 April 2024 by Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairperson Priscilla Makanyara Chigumba in General Notice 460 of 2024. She said:

The public is hereby notified, in terms of 39(6) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has nominated registered voters specified in the First Schedule, to fill the vacancies in the Senate that occurred following the recall of persons specified in the Second Schedule, who were members of the Senate for the provinces opposite their names by virtue of section 120(1)(a) of the Constitution.

Any voter wishing to object to the nomination of each of the persons specified in the First Schedule, may lodge them in writing with the Chief Elections Officer, Mahachi Quantum Building, corner Kaguvi Street and Jason Moyo Avenue, Harare, or post them to Private Bag 7782, Causeway, within a period of 14 days from the date of publication of this notice, setting forth the reasons for the objection.

Those specified in the First Schedule are Zwizwai, Tambudzai Kunaka, and Moses Manyengavana, all of Harare Province, and Spiwe Munemo and Tawanda Bvumo, both of Mashonaland West Province.

While the origin of the five candidates’ nominations remains uncertain due to CCC’s factional divisions, it is logical to assume that Tshabangu submitted their names to ZEC as he is the only CCC member who has the authority to recall Members of Parliament who is recognised by State institutions.

Former CCC senators, specified in the Second Schedule were recalled by Tshabangu last year. They are Vongai Tome, Webster Maondera, and Jameson Timba, all from Harare Province, and Editor Eremenziah Matamisa and Ralph T. Mangunje, both from Mashonaland West Province.

Eder Militao Returns To Action As Real Madrid Face Manchester City

Desperate Mnangagwa Chases Away Starlink

Mnangagwa Forces Zanu PF Heavyweights To Use ZiG

Mnangagwa Promotes Six Mugabe Coup Plotters

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted six senior military officers, with critics alleging a pattern of rewarding coup plotters to solidify his grip on power.

ZiG Collapsing In No Time

By ZimEye/Dr Tapiwa Mashakada- The newly introduced Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) Structured Currency would very soon collapse just like the Bearer Cheque and the Bond Notes owing to its lack of characteristics of real money, writes economist Dr Tapiwa Mashakada:

Drawing parallels to previous failed attempts such as the Bearer Cheque and the Bond Notes, Dr. Mashakada predicts ZiG’s demise due to its failure to meet the essential characteristics of genuine currency.
Of immediate concern is ZiG’s inability to purchase fuel, rendering it unacceptable as legal tender at petrol stations. Dr. Mashakada emphasizes that any currency lacking the backing and support of monetary authorities cannot fulfill its primary functions as a store of value and medium of exchange.
Reflecting on Zimbabwe’s tumultuous economic history, Dr. Mashakada questions the rationale behind introducing ZiG, especially considering the country’s previous currency debacles. Despite the presence of substantial gold reserves, the authorities have failed to prevent the devaluation of the currency against the USD, a trend likely to persist given the prevalence of dollarization in the economy.
Dr. Mashakada dispels any illusions about ZiG’s acceptance among the populace, asserting that its fate is sealed by its inability to procure fuel, a basic necessity in daily life. He bluntly states that a currency incapable of facilitating such transactions belongs in the dustbin of history.
Moreover, Dr. Mashakada scrutinizes the government’s handling of the situation, questioning why gold reserves weren’t utilized to stabilize the Zim dollar during inflationary periods. The lack of confidence exhibited by both the government and the public in ZiG further undermines its prospects, as evidenced by commuter operators rejecting it in favor of USD payments.
As Dr. Mashakada highlights, the government’s own actions, such as demanding taxes in a mixed currency format, cast doubt on ZiG’s viability. This lack of confidence, coupled with broader economic uncertainties, paints a grim picture for ZiG’s future.
In conclusion, Dr. Mashakada cautions against premature attempts to reintroduce a local currency in an environment still dominated by foreign currencies. Without addressing fundamental economic challenges and restoring public trust, ZiG is destined to meet the same fate as its predecessors. As Zimbabweans yearn for a robust local currency, the road ahead remains fraught with challenges, and only time will tell the fate of ZiG.
Dr. Tapiwa Mashakada serves as the Executive Director of the Maji-Marefu Institute of International Relations and Security Studies, offering valuable insights into Zimbabwe’s economic landscape.

Zim Shall Prosper : Nelson Chamisa

Mnangagwa Deceives Zimbabweans With Another Useless ‘Ghost’ ZiG Currency

By Business Reporter- Despite claims by the Emerson Mnangagwa government that it possesses the strongest currency in the region, recent events have unveiled a starkly different reality.

Marapira Publishes Reasons To Trust ZiG Currency

What is the ZiG?

The new currency of Zimbabwe is called the ZiG, which stands for Zimbabwe Gold. This currency is representative money, meaning it is backed by gold and foreign currency reserves. Representative money is a medium of exchange, either printed or digital, that represents something of value. In contrast, fiat money is a type of currency that is not backed by any tangible asset but is declared as currency by the government. Since the end of the Bretton Woods system in 1971, major currencies around the world have become fiat money as they are not backed by anything of value.

The concept of the ZiG is not new at all. Historically, representative money followed commodity money, which was when money itself was made of substances that had value, such as gold, copper, and silver coins. Since representative money is backed by a tangible asset like gold or silver, its value remains relatively stable over time, pegged against the value of reserves and guaranteed by it.

In contrast, fiat money, which predominates in today’s society, lacks intrinsic value. Its value is based solely on trust and confidence in the government and the public. Another drawback of fiat money is the risk of inflation. Since fiat money is not tied to a tangible asset, governments have the ability to increase the money supply at will, leading to inflationary pressures. This erosion of purchasing power can adversely affect individuals and businesses as it reduces the value of their savings and income.

Reasons to trust the ZiG

The introduction of the ZiG currency, which combines the advantages of representative money with the convenience of digital currency, holds promise in addressing the challenges posed by fiat currencies. This stability will enhance confidence in the local currency and reduce reliance on foreign currencies, thus increasing its usage and acceptance. There is no reason not to trust the ZiG.

Excessive bank charges, which previously eroded deposits, have been reduced to be below interest rates, allowing deposited money to gain interest. These reforms, coupled with a stable and sustainable exchange rate, policy credibility, and restoration of market confidence, will lead to a stable and sustainable macro economy as outlined in Vision 2030. It is also noteworthy that the reserves already held by the Reserve Bank are more than triple our local currency requirements.

S.I. 60 of 2024, in addition to introducing the new currency, provides for independent audits of the reserve assets backing it by credible and respected external auditors specifically appointed for that purpose. The results of these audits will be published in the annual report of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. Transparency will be key in building and maintaining the public’s trust in their new currency.

Companies will be required to settle at least 50% of their tax obligations on Quarterly Payment Dates (QPDs) in ZiG. Money supply growth will also be strictly monitored and implemented in line with improved economic activity and increased reserves in the form of precious minerals, mainly gold, and foreign currency balances.

Banks are being encouraged to undergo accelerated digital transformation. This will enable banking institutions to achieve operational efficiencies, which will have a positive impact on various banking service charges.

The ZiG, by its very nature, minimizes the risk of inflation. As the value of representative money relies on a physical valuable commodity, the government cannot simply print more money. This reduces the chances of inflation and preserves the purchasing power of the currency, benefiting individuals and businesses.

Zimbabwe is one of the top five growing economies in Africa. Furthermore, our GDP has increased from USD 16 billion to USD 47 billion. These statistics, confirmed by international institutions such as the IMF, can only indicate a bright future for our nation and its currency.

Melanotan 2: Autism, Food Intake, and More

What makes Melanotan 2 so special? Melanotan 2 (MT-II) is one of the most studied peptides, so if you’re interested in learning more about it, you should keep reading. There are several hypothesized properties associated with Melanotan 2, an α-MSH analog. This article will discuss research findings in the peptide related to studies in sunless tanning, and sexual dysfunction. Keep reading to discover how researchers suggest this molecule works.

Melanotan 2 Peptide: What is it?

Studies suggest Melanotan 2 (MT-II) may have a lot of promise in various contexts. This manufactured peptide appears to mimic the effects of α-MSH, a melanocortin agonist that serves several physiological purposes. Five distinct receptor types comprise the melanocortin system, which controls the inflammatory response, sexual function, and melanin synthesis.

Research indicates that MT-II may mainly operate on two receptors, MC1R and MC4R, involved in melanogenesis and sexual behavior control. MT-II has a cyclic shortened form. Its action on MC3R receptors is believed to influence metabolism and energy balance.

Because of its increased potency, Melanotan 2, a synthetic analog of α-MSH, is thought to perform comparable tasks more effectively. Animal research has broadened to investigate its other possible impacts despite its origins of development in tanning and pigmentation research.

Related Peptides

Further α-MSH derivatives, including Melanotan 1 (MT-I), are also the subject of extensive research studies. The architecture and functions of MT-I and MT-II are different even though they are both believed to operate on the melanocortin receptors. The structure of MT-II is a ring of amino acids, in contrast to the lengthy and linear MT-1. Both research and clinical contexts also make use of PT-141, a highly modified α-MSH derivative, specifically studied the context of libido (low-sex desire).

Melanotan 2 Peptide: Sunless Tanning

Scientists originally developed this synthetic peptide to induce pigmentation in skin cells and hair follicles. Researchers suggested that concentrations of the “powerful metabotropic peptide,” Melanotan 2, might elicit such an action in the cells. In addition to reducing the requirement for UV exposure to get “tan”, the photoprotective characteristics of higher melanin may lessen the risk of sun damage and some forms of skin cancer.

Melanotan 2 Peptide and Erectile Dysfunction

Since its original development, researchers have expanded the peptide’s area of study, speculating that MT-II, a melanocortin 4 receptor agonist, may potentially influence sexual response as well. The melanocortin 3 receptor may also be involved in this process. Particularly noteworthy is the consideration that peptide exposure may induce erections in animal models of erectile dysfunction (ED). Research suggests that MT-II may potentially strongly affect sexual arousal via the hypothalamus. However, the precise ways this function may work are yet unknown.

Melanotan 2 Peptide: Autism

One animal research study suggested that MT-II might alleviate some of the autistic symptoms, including a lack of social responsiveness, repetitive movements, and trouble communicating. A critical hormone in modulating social attunement, melanocortin 4 is believed to be responsible for this effect via upregulating cerebral Oxytocin. Much research is still ongoing in this area.

Melanotan 2 Peptide: Addictive Behaviours

Animal studies have suggested that MT-II may reduce alcohol intake by activating the melanocortin 4 receptors in the hypothalamus. Among rats with induced alcohol depedency, one study suggested that peptide exposure appeared to have made the rats drink less alcohol and drink more water in comparison to models not exposed to the peptide. According to studies, the melanocortin system appears to be involved in the way the animals react to substances, including amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids. It may also help control impulsive actions, in addition to its potential impacts in addiction. More investigation is now being conducted.

Melanotan 2 Peptide: Food Intake

Animal studies have suggested that MC4R signaling in the hypothalamus may regulate food intake by decreasing hunger and changing macronutrient choices, leading to a decrease in sugar and fat consumption. Especially in MC4R-deficient models of obesity, the exposure to Melanotan 2 in this setting may have consequences for managing the condition.

Melanotan 2 Peptide and Blood Sugar Levels

Data from rodent studies suggests that MT-II may increase insulin sensitivity by influencing blood glucose levels by activating the MC-3 and MC-4 receptors. This may have the potential to alleviate the signs of metabolic diseases.

Melanoatn 2 Peptide and Fat Distribution

In addition to the potential action on hunger and metabolism discussed, MT-II has been hypothesized in animal tests to decrease fat and improve lean muscle mass. By preventing the retention of subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue and by inducing a caloric deficit, MT-II may lead to decrease obesity. Research studies in animal obesity models drive research into the melanocortin system’s involvement in regulating energy expenditure and fat storage.

There are many other hypothetical avenues that researchers have explored, but this is not a complete list. Emerging research on Melanotan 2 is uncovering new and interesting potential properties in various research scenarios.

Calling For Action In Fight Against Climate Change

By A Correspondent

In an era dominated by urgent calls for climate action, it’s clear that the time for words alone has passed.

Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty, a pioneering South African company, underscores the critical need for impactful climate change action plans.

Amidst widespread global suffering caused by climate change, the imperative to act becomes increasingly urgent with each passing day.

The reality is stark: climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is an existential crisis affecting billions worldwide.

Yet, amidst this crisis, the question persists—how can we ensure that climate action plans translate into meaningful change?

The answer lies in the concept of action itself.

Barcelona Punish Former Boss

Luis Enrique’s approach against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final first leg may have been a tactical miscalculation.

Ahead of the clash, the Paris Saint-Germain head coach was asked about fulfilling the Barcelona identity better between himself and Xavi, considering Luis Enrique’s previous stint with the club from 2014 to 2017.

“Me, without any doubt,” he responded confidently.

“Look at the data, in possession, in scoring chances, in high pressing. Look at the titles, the trophies. It’s not an opinion, it’s data. Without any doubt, me!”

Luis Enrique’s successful tenure at Barcelona, where he won nine major trophies including a Champions League, demonstrated his commitment to the club’s attacking ethos. However, this unwavering passion for a specific style of play might have ultimately backfired.

The 3-2 defeat to Barcelona ended PSG’s 27-game unbeaten run, exposing vulnerabilities in Luis Enrique’s tactical approach. Despite missing key defenders due to injuries and suspensions, PSG adopted a high-pressing game reminiscent of Barcelona’s peak under Luis Enrique.

They built attacks from the back and overwhelmed Barcelona with their intensity.

In contrast, Barcelona opted for a more conservative 4-4-2 defensive approach, showcasing a departure from the attacking style associated with Luis Enrique’s era.

The decision to start Marco Asensio as a false nine did not pay off as expected, leaving PSG to dominate possession and create more chances.

Ultimately, Luis Enrique’s rigid adherence to a specific tactical philosophy may have contributed to PSG’s downfall against a resurgent Barcelona side.

Kalaba Accident, Unidentified Woman Was Driving

Official Update on Rainford Kalaba’s Accident from Zambian Police

By Dorrothy Moyo | In an official statement released today by the Football Association of Zambia, new details have emerged regarding the road accident involving renowned Zambian footballer Rainford Kalaba. The accident occurred at 12:20 PM along the Great North Road at Kafue S Corners near Kafue Quarry, as confirmed by the Zambian police.

The tragic event involved two vehicles: a Howo truck horse driven by Mr. Muyunda Isaac, 32, of Kamwala South, and a Mercedes Benz car, driven by an unidentified female from south to north. Sadly, the female driver of the Mercedes succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The truck and the Mercedes both sustained significant damage.

Rainford Kalaba, the passenger in the Mercedes, suffered suspected internal injuries and has been urgently transported to University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for medical treatment. The police report specifies that the cause of the accident appears to be improper overtaking by the Mercedes, which resulted in a direct collision with the oncoming truck.

Rae Hamoonga, the Police Public Relations Officer, expressed condolences to the families affected by this devastating incident and urged all road users to strictly adhere to road safety regulations to avoid further tragedies.

This update follows a day of confusion and misinformation where early reports erroneously declared Kalaba dead. The football community, along with fans worldwide, had been momentarily grief-stricken until corrections were issued confirming that Kalaba was alive but in critical condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident, and further updates are expected as they work to piece together the sequence of events leading to this unfortunate crash. The focus now turns to Kalaba’s recovery and support for the families impacted by today’s events.

Kalaba Alive After Serious Accident

By Sports Reporter | In a startling twist of events, Zambian football icon Rainford Kalaba has been confirmed to be alive, contrary to earlier reports of his death. The former TP Mazembe player, known affectionately as “Maestro,” was involved in a grave road accident near Lusaka on April 13, which tragically claimed the life of a female passenger.

Earlier today, TP Mazembe, Kalaba’s former club, prematurely issued a condolence message on social media, which they have since retracted with an apology. Their initial statement mourned Kalaba, suggesting that he did not survive the accident. However, this information has been proven incorrect.

“Go in peace our ‘Maestro’. That’s for you! Rainford KALABA did not survive a road accident this Saturday 13 April in Zambia between Kafwe and Lusaka. Master…Master… Master…” the club initially posted. The post was soon followed by a correction as more accurate information became available. Mazembe clarified, “Accuracy. We just heard from the medical team that took on Maestro Rainford KALABA. Declared dead by the emergency services who received the former TPM player victim of a serious traffic accident, the doctors who received him have just placed him in an artificial coma but his situation is critical.”

Currently, Rainford Kalaba is in a critical condition at the University Teaching Hospital. He has been placed in an artificial coma as part of his treatment. The hospital authorities have confirmed that while Kalaba’s condition is severe, he is definitely alive, and efforts are underway to provide him with the best possible care.

Rainford Kalaba, aged 37, is celebrated for his illustrious football career both internationally and at club level. As a key player of the 2012 AFCON-winning Zambian team, and with several titles under his belt with TP Mazembe including the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, and CAF Super Cup, his impact on African football is profound.

The football community and fans worldwide are now sending their prayers and thoughts to Kalaba and his family during this challenging time, holding onto hope for a full recovery. As this story develops, it serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of verifying facts in the rush to report news. Rainford Kalaba remains a fighter, on and off the field.

Mnangagwa Threatens Politburo Members Over ZiG

Former Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development deputy minister Douglas Karoro’s fraud case was yesterday postponed again.

Karoro, who is being charged along with his accomplice Lovejoy Ngove, was supposed to appear before Harare Magistrate Donald Ndirowei.

The matter was deferred to May 8 for trial continuation.

According to the State, Karoro and Ngove, allegedly misappropriated agricultural inputs worth US$43 000 under the Presidential Inputs Scheme in 2022.

The inputs were meant to benefit farmers in Mbire constituency.

Karoro allegedly collected seed from Ngove on several occasions using his vehicles and having the seed marked on the dispatch vouchers as for the needy in the constituency.

The two allegedly converted the farming inputs to their own use.

Ngove was allegedly found in possession of maize seed at his house at GMB Mushumbi Pools.

GMB is said to have lost US$18 030 worth of maize seed due to Karoro and Ngove’s illicit deals.

It is further alleged that in March 2022, Karoro and Ngove allegedly met at Mahuwe shopping centre in Mushumbi Pools to seize vegetable seed kits.

On March 23, 2022, Karoro allegedly received 5 000 vegetable combo kits comprising seed for rape, onion, texas grano, carrots nantes which he was supposed to hand over to GMB Mushumbi Pools depot under the Presidential Inputs Scheme.

620 Hours Of Community Service To Kariba Woman Who Stabbed Boyfriend With Broken Beer Bottle

The High Court has sentenced a Kariba woman to 620 hours of community service after she fatally stabbed her jealous boyfriend with a broken beer bottle on the neck in front of police officers at the Nyami Nyami Festival.

Sibongile Jeke Siyanjalike was initially sentenced to three years imprisonment before Chinhoyi High Court judge Justice Bhachi Mzawazi suspended two years on condition of good behaviour and one year on condition that she performed 620 hours of community service at Nyamhunga Clinic.

Siyanjalike’s murder charge was reduced to culpable homicide which the court found proper as the State did not have a witness to the case. According to court papers the deceased, Keith Kadziyange, and Siyanjalike were in a love relationship and on October 29, 2022, both got temporarily employed by Lake Harvest Sports Club.

The court heard that the deceased got extremely jealous over Siyanjalike’s interactions with male patrons at the festival.

It was the State’s case that on two separate occasions the deceased confronted Siyanjalike over the same allegations and during the first encounter the deceased is said to have slapped the accused thrice on the face.

Siyanjalike told the court that after the assault she returned to the pavilion and sat down as if nothing had happened.

The court heard that Kadziyange saw Siyanjalike seating with two men and assaulted her.

Siyanjalike sought help from the police but Kadziyange seized a baton from a police officer and struck Siyanjalike once on the stomach.

Siyanjalike broke an empty beer bottle before inflicting fatal neck injuries on the deceased.

However, the court found that this was a gender-based violence case.

“It was revealed that the two although lovers were not married. They shared the same house but accused had several minor children from her previous relationship.

“She was at most a lady, of the night who engaged in the old profession in order to fend for her family. What aggravated the situation is that the deceased was brazen enough to disregard the presence and intervention of the police.

“He continued to physically abuse the accused in the presence of law enforcement personnel. Killing someone, a human being, is intolerable.

“The accused was negligent in picking, then breaking a beer bottle and using the same to stab the deceased on a delicate part of the body housing major veins and arteries. As such, she negligently failed to realise that death may result from her conduct,” Justice Mzawazi ruled.

The judge said she took into account both her personal and the circumstances of the case in arriving at the ruling.

“She is a single young mother aged thirty-five, with three minor children whom she stays with in a single room. She survives by marketing herself in order to sustain a living and support her children.

“She was orphaned at a very tender age with an aged father. The father stays in a remote rural area and cannot look after the children.

“In the sentencing enquiry the court learnt that her children lived with friends during her 9 months pre-trial incarceration stint. The sentencing report allows the court to have an insight into the accused’s humanity element.”

The judge said Siyanjalike had no history of violence or criminal behaviour and that the physical abuse by the deceased on her person was not justified.

“If she is sent to prison, the children will be left to be street kids and prone to abuse. The court also took into account that in the circumstances of this case punishing the mother by another stint of a custodial term will be indirectly punishing the children.

“The sins of the mother will be indirectly visited on the children. The plight of the children is of significance in a case where they will be left with no one to look after them, surely this is not in the interest of society.

“Gender sensitivity in sentencing this accused person should be a driving factor, without being gender biased,” Justice Mzawazi ruled

Manicaland Schools Show Education Minister Middle Finger

Several schools in Manicaland Province have reportedly defied a Government directive not to have vacation school this holiday.

According to state owned Manica Post, several schools in Manicaland were conducting normal lessons, despite the widely circulated directive by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to suspend lessons this April holiday.

According to the report, vacation lessons are ongoing at schools such as Baring Primary School, Dangamvura Primary School, Murahwa Primary School and Rock of Ages.

While some schools reportedly had Forms Four, Five and Six classes, others had the whole stream of learners in class for the usual day-to-day lessons.

Parents and guardians are being asked to pay US$1 per day per learner at primary school, and US$10 per subject for those in secondary schools.

Some of the private schools are charging as much as US$20 per subject for secondary school learners due to increased enrolment after some public schools heeded the Government directive.

An authority at a private school in Mutare who spoke to The Manica Post on condition of anonymity said they ignored the Government directive to prepare their learners for the forthcoming Cambridge examinations.

United States Mocks Mnangagwa’s ZiG Currency

United States economist Steve Hanke has derided Zimbabwe’s latest currency introduction, the ZiG, asserting that the country’s monetary policies resemble a merry-go-round.

The ZiG, purportedly backed by gold according to Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu, replaced the depreciating RTGS and Bond Notes.

Beginning at a 1:1 exchange rate with the US dollar upon its inception in 2016, the value of these notes plummeted to an alarming 1:25,000 by the time of their demonetization last week. Despite efforts to stabilize the currency, progress has been elusive.

“Zimbabwe has launched yet another new currency – the ZiG – marking the sixth attempt in the last decade,” remarked Hanke. “While the ZiG is touted to be backed by gold, the critical question remains unanswered: Where is the gold? In the realm of the ZiG, uncertainty prevails.”

Hanke’s remarks suggest Zimbabwe’s monetary strategy is akin to a zigzag, lacking in consistency and direction. As a distinguished Professor of Economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Hanke has consistently criticized Zimbabwe’s monetary policies, expressing skepticism towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, and the RBZ’s decision-making.

Hanke advocates for dollarization as a more stable alternative. His critique of the ZiG coincides with reports of informal businesses rejecting RTGS and Bond Notes, despite assurances from the RBZ that they remain legal tender until April 30, 2024.

In response to concerns over the rejection of old currency, Mushayavanhu released a statement reaffirming the validity of ZW$ notes until the specified date, urging businesses to continue accepting them. However, reports indicate widespread reluctance among businesses, leading to pricing adjustments and a reliance on US dollars.

Zimbabwe’s economic woes, spanning over two decades, persist unabated. Despite a brief respite from inflation during the Government of National Unity (GNU) between 2009 and 2013, subsequent monetary interventions, including the introduction of Bond Notes, have exacerbated the crisis.

Mushayavanhu’s currency experiment draws parallels to past measures, such as Gideon Gono’s issuance of Bearers Cheques and Travellers Cheques, and the deletion of zeros on a currency plagued by hyperinflation, reflecting a cyclical pattern of monetary instability.

Mnangagwa Repeats Remarks On Bond Notes, Says ZiG Is More About Sovereignty

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has staunchly defended the newly launched gold-backed ZiG currency, asserting that it exemplifies his government’s commitment to harnessing national resources.

Mnangagwa made these remarks during the commissioning of the Pickstone Peerless Mine Underground Mining Project in Mashonaland West Province.

His statement comes in the wake of criticism surrounding the introduction of the new currency, with some labelling it a failure.

“The decision to anchor our currency with our gold and strategic mineral reserves underscores the resolve of the Second Republic to utilize the assets of our nation, Zimbabwe, to propel our journey towards achieving sustainable economic autonomy and sovereignty,” stated Mnangagwa.

“As we advance in the development of our beloved nation, it is imperative that we take pride in our distinctive Zimbabwean heritage, which includes our minerals and our currency,” he added.

The introduction of the ZiG currency comes as a replacement for the ZW$, which had lost its value due to rampant inflation. Originally established at a 1:1 exchange rate with the US dollar in 2016, its value deteriorated significantly, reaching a staggering 1:25,000 ratio before its demonetization last week.

Despite concerns and skepticism surrounding the new currency, with many fearing a repeat of the challenges experienced with bond notes, Mnangagwa hailed its launch as “historic and unparalleled.” ZiG notes and coins are slated to enter circulation on April 30.

Against this backdrop, Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of leveraging the country’s mineral resources to achieve enduring economic independence and sovereignty.

Meanwhile, significant investments have been made in the Pickstone Peerless Mine, with a US$22 million infusion for phase one of mining operations and an additional US$28 million for phase two, aimed at enhancing underground infrastructure for expanded exploration and mining activities.

Mnangagwa highlighted the projected annual gold production of over 1 tonne, amounting to approximately US$60 million, as a testament to the anticipated surge in gold output.

Zimbabwe Introduces New Currency Backed by Gold: A Promising Step or Potential Pitfall?

By Shelton Muchena in England

Zimbabwe, a country known for its economic challenges and hyperinflation, has recently announced the introduction of a new currency backed by gold. This bold move is aimed at stabilizing the country’s economy and regaining the trust of its citizens and international investors. While the idea of a gold-backed currency holds potential benefits, it also poses certain risks and challenges that need to be carefully considered.

Introducing a currency backed by gold can potentially bring economic stability to Zimbabwe. Gold has long been considered a stable and valuable asset, and using it to back the currency could instill confidence in the financial system. It may help curb hyperinflation, as the value of the currency would be tied to a tangible asset, reducing the risk of excessive money printing.

Zimbabwe’s previous currency, the Zimbabwean dollar, suffered from severe hyperinflation and eventually became obsolete. By introducing a new currency backed by gold, the government aims to restore trust in the financial system and demonstrate its commitment to fiscal responsibility. This could encourage both local and international investors to have faith in the currency and contribute to economic growth.

A gold-backed currency has the potential to attract foreign investment. Gold is a globally recognized and sought-after commodity, and investors may view a gold-backed currency as a secure store of value. This influx of investment could lead to increased economic activity, job creation, and overall growth for Zimbabwe.

While the idea of a gold-backed currency seems promising, there are several challenges and risks that need to be considered. One major challenge is the availability and management of gold reserves. Zimbabwe would need to ensure that it has enough gold reserves to back the currency adequately. Additionally, the price of gold is subject to market fluctuations, which could impact the stability of the currency. The government would need to implement effective mechanisms to manage these risks.

Another potential challenge is the transition from the existing currency system to the new gold-backed currency. This process requires careful planning and execution to avoid disruptions and confusion among the public. It is crucial to educate and inform citizens about the benefits and implications of the new currency to gain their trust and cooperation.

The introduction of a new currency backed by gold in Zimbabwe holds the potential to bring economic stability, restore trust, and attract foreign investment. However, it is essential to address the challenges and risks associated with managing gold reserves, market fluctuations, and the smooth transition to the new currency. With proper planning, implementation, and ongoing monitoring, Zimbabwe can harness the advantages of a gold-backed currency and pave the way for a more prosperous future.

Tangible Asset Backing: Gold is a globally recognized and valued commodity. By backing the currency with gold, Zimbabwe can provide a tangible asset that holds intrinsic value. This backing creates a sense of stability and confidence in the currency, as it is tied to a physical asset that has historically retained its value.

Zimbabwe has experienced significant economic challenges, including hyperinflation and a lack of trust in the previous currency. A gold-backed currency can help restore confidence and trust in the financial system. By having a currency backed by a valuable asset like gold, individuals and businesses can have faith that their money holds value and will not be subject to rapid depreciation.

One of the primary causes of economic instability in Zimbabwe has been hyperinflation. By introducing a gold-backed currency, the government can gain better control over inflation. The value of the currency is tied to the value of gold, which tends to be more stable than fiat currencies. This reduces the risk of excessive money printing and the subsequent devaluation of the currency.
A gold-backed currency can also attract foreign investors. Gold is widely recognized as a stable store of value, and investors may view a gold-backed currency as a safer investment option. This influx of foreign investment can contribute to economic growth, job creation, and overall stability in Zimbabwe.

Overall, a gold-backed currency provides a solid foundation for economic stability by instilling confidence, controlling inflation, and attracting international investment. However, it is important to address challenges such as managing gold reserves and market fluctuations to ensure the long-term stability of the currency.

Certainly! Here are some additional points to consider regarding the potential benefits of introducing a gold-backed currency to bring economic stability to Zimbabwe,
Gold has been used as a store of value for centuries due to its limited supply and resistance to inflation.

By backing the currency with gold, Zimbabwe can provide its citizens with a reliable and stable medium of exchange. This can help protect against the erosion of wealth and savings caused by volatile fiat currencies. A gold-backed currency can act as a safeguard against currency manipulation by external entities.

Since the value of the currency is tied to the value of gold, it becomes less susceptible to the whims of central banks or geopolitical factors that can influence fiat currencies. This stability can foster long-term economic growth and attract foreign investment.

A gold-backed currency can enhance Zimbabwe’s credibility in international trade. It provides a reliable and trusted medium of exchange, which can facilitate smoother transactions and reduce the risk of currency fluctuations. This can make Zimbabwe more attractive as a trading partner and improve its competitiveness in the global market.

Introducing a gold-backed currency allows Zimbabwe to diversify its reserves beyond traditional fiat currencies. This diversification can provide a hedge against currency risks and mitigate the negative impact of currency crises. Holding gold reserves can also provide a sense of financial security and stability for the government and its citizens.

A gold-backed currency imposes discipline on the monetary authorities. It limits their ability to engage in excessive money printing and encourages responsible fiscal policies. This can help curb inflationary pressures and promote long-term economic stability by ensuring that the currency retains its value over time.

It is important to note that introducing a gold-backed currency is not without challenges. It requires establishing and managing gold reserves, ensuring transparency in the conversion process, and addressing potential market fluctuations.

Additionally, the success of such a monetary system depends on effective governance, sound economic policies, and the ability to maintain a stable and balanced economy.

The failure of ZIG emanates from the economy sabotage between the RBZ and the ministry of finance. The RBZ launched new currency which is not being supported by the treasury in tax collection.

Apart from that, the announcements by the RBZ governor indicating that Zig cannot buy fuel at Service station brought doubt about the new promulgated currency in Zimbabwe. On it’s own, it’s an reflection of it’s failure because how a country’s currency can’t purchase fuel in a country. This proves beyond doubt that it cannot compete on global market.

Be Responsible, Dog Owners Warned

DOG owners have been urged to be more responsible after a recent report revealed an increase in dog bites across the country, with more than 500 dog bites being recorded in a week.

A recent Disease Surveillance Report from the Ministry of Health and Child Care has revealed a worrying trend after 525 cases of dog bites were reported in just a week across the country.

According to an animal inspector with the Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA), Mr Kudzanai Chatikobo highlights the need for responsible dog ownership.

“With dog bites, you need to track what might be the causes of each case, usually its lack of what we call responsible ownership. Every dog owner must be aware that every dog needs to be vaccinated. We have five freedoms of an animal, every animal must have the freedom to access treatment when it is sick and to be vaccinated so it’s a must in Zimbabwe we do have several statutes and laws that support that, so it’s not allowed to keep an unvaccinated dog. Whenever people are acquiring dogs, they need to know about the dogs they intend to buy or maybe adopt, so in our case here we call it rehoming. So, whenever someone wants to own a dog, you must make sure that you have relevant knowledge about the breed that you want to adopt.

These days we do have a rise in cases of boar dogs and pit bulls biting people so every dog is not meant to be aggressive or a biter or vicious it’s all more about upkeep the way you take care of your dog so dogs need to be socialised they need the freedom to express normal behaviour they need freedom from discomfort freedom from pain and negative training methods are not recommended where dogs are trained to fight it is not recommended and using cruel methods of training that cause aggression and the increases in the cases of dog bites.

We do have what we call the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, it’s an act whereby dogs are not allowed to be confined or to be kept in an environment where they are not allowed to socialise with people for a long time. For example, we do have some dogs being kept for breeding in backyards in small kennels for a long time so obviously the cruel way the dog is being kept in the same way the dogs will respond to us as well because he is not used to people or normal handling so obviously this contributes to aggression and negative behaviours of animals that we keep,” he said.

The report reveals that 131 of the people were bitten by vaccinated dogs, 190 by unvaccinated dogs, and 204 by dogs of unknown status.

He added, “You need to get your dogs vaccinated. I don’t see a reason why people are not vaccinating their dogs. surprisingly, it costs less than US$2 and is free at some facilities. Rabies is a very dangerous zoonotic disease, and it can be spread from canines to human beings.”

While rabies is a near-certain concern once symptoms develop, it is entirely preventable through vaccination and prompt medical attention after potential exposure, hence the importance of responsible pet ownership, including regular vaccinations for dogs, cats, and other mammals.

Mnangagwa In Desperate Bid To Block Starlink

Cottco Manager Caged For Theft And Corruption

By A Correspondent| Cottco Chiredzi Depot Business Unit manager, Innocent Gukwe (35), was today remanded in jail on allegations of theft and corruption.

Gukwe appeared at Chiredzi Regional Court, facing one count of theft and one count of corruption.

He is being represented by Prince Ganyani of PC Ganyani Law Firm, Charles Vhudzi of Vhudzi and associates Law Firm and Rita Chakauya of Muzenda and Chitsama Legal Practitioners.

Magistrate Vimbai Mutukwa heard that in January 2024 Gukwe instructed Brighton Muza, a truck driver of a truck registration number AGJ 7704 belonging to Muguju Transport to collect 300 by 50 kg bags of compound L fertilizer from Cottco Kadoma depot.

On 11 January 2024, Cottco Kadoma transferred the 300 bags to Cottco Chiredzi Business Unit under internal movement of fixed items documents.

Muza collected the 300 bags of fertilizers but did not deliver them to Chiredzi depot but diverted them to an unknown destination.

The court also heard that on 22 January 2024, Gukwe instructed Muza to go to Chiredzi Bussiness Unit with internal movement of fixed item document for transfer of 300 by 50 kg bags compound L fertilizers claiming that the fertilizers were delivered at Ngundu transit Depot.

Stores person at Chiredzi depot then querried why the document for fertilizers that were collected on 11 January 2024 was presented on 22 January 2024 and Muza said he was busy transporting other loads.

Total cost of the fertilizer is US10 500.

On count two it is alleged that in 2022, Gukwe hatched a plan to siphon money from Cotco by saying that he would get a truck to contract to Cottco depot at favourable rates.

Gukwe then bought two trucks and registered them in the name of Regis Chivaura. The registration number for the trucks are AFS 2424 and AFU 4824.

Gukwe using his position would give the trucks frequent contracts and facilitate propmt payments. Gukwe got US122 421.47 from using his trucks at Cotco.

Prosector Ronald Kwangware opposed bail and ZACC Investigating Officer Taurai Andrew Ziyambe argued Gukwe would interfere with investigations.

Gukwe was remanded in custody to tomorrow for bail ruling.

Real Madrid’s Tchouaméni Suspended for Crucial Champions League Clash

Sports Correspondent

Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni, pivotal in the recent match against Manchester City, will sit out the return leg on April 17th due to a third yellow card this season in the Champions League, given for a 2nd-minute foul.

Tchouaméni, part of the quartet at risk of suspension alongside Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, and Vinícius Junior, was swiftly cautioned in the match.

The Frenchman’s absence compounds challenges for coach Carlo Ancelotti, who opted for Tchouaméni in defense over more traditional choices like Nacho Fernández.

This decision now looms large ahead of the upcoming Champions League quarter-final in Manchester.

This snapshot, now resurfacing, has prompted discussions about the potential handover of power from Mnangagwa to Chamisa before the year 2028.

Nelson Chamisa’s reflection on the photograph during his recent statement added fuel to the speculative fire. “Greetings family. I just bumped into this one.

During the GNU days,” he remarked, suggesting nostalgia for a pivotal period in Zimbabwe’s political history.

The photograph’s significance was further highlighted by Mabwedza Lameck, who described it as a poetic representation of a potential transition in power within Zimbabwe.

This interpretation has captured the imagination of many Zimbabweans, who are keenly observing the nation’s political trajectory.

The Government of National Unity, which ran from 2009 to 2013, was a historic moment in Zimbabwean politics.

It brought together rival parties—Zanu PF and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC)—in an attempt to stabilize the country following a period of economic turmoil and political unrest.

The participation of both Mnangagwa and Chamisa in this era underscores their roles as pivotal figures in Zimbabwe’s contemporary political landscape.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, once a key ally of former President Robert Mugabe, succeeded Mugabe in 2017 amid a military-backed transition.

His presidency has been marked by efforts to stabilize the economy and attract foreign investment, albeit amid ongoing challenges and criticisms.

Nelson Chamisa, on the other hand, emerged as a prominent opposition leader following the death of MDC founder Morgan Tsvangirai in 2018.

Known for his youthful energy and popular support, Chamisa has consistently advocated for democratic reforms and socioeconomic progress.

The photograph of Mnangagwa and Chamisa together evokes questions about Zimbabwe’s political future and the potential for a generational shift in leadership.

As the country grapples with economic pressures, governance issues, and calls for reform, many are looking to younger leaders like Chamisa to steer the nation towards a new era.

The idea of Mnangagwa handing over power to Chamisa before 2028 reflects broader discussions around Zimbabwe’s need for a democratic transition and renewed leadership.

While such predictions remain speculative, they speak to a growing sentiment for change among Zimbabweans, particularly the younger generation who aspire for a more inclusive and progressive governance.

The symbolism behind this photograph serves as a reminder of Zimbabwe’s complex political journey—a narrative shaped by historical legacies, aspirations for change, and the evolving dynamics of power.

Whether Mnangagwa’s tenure will indeed pave the way for Chamisa’s ascendancy remains to be seen, but the conversation sparked by this image underscores the aspirations and uncertainties of Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Panicky Mnangagwa Regime Bans Starlink

Former ZACC Boss Goes Beserk, Destroys Community Gate

Former Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) commissioner Farai Mashonganyika-Chinyani and her husband went berserk and destroyed a community gate after they were denied entry to a property she allegedly acquired illegally.

Mashonganyika recently lost a title deed to the property she allegedly bought in a fraudulent deal where she paid US$4 000 for 8 000 square metres of land.

The former Zacc commissioner and her husband Tendai Chinyani appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged with malicious damage to property.

The duo allegedly damaged a community boom gate in Borrowdale, Carrick Creagh.

Allegations are that on April 5, Cornilious Tsikwa, a chief security officer, was on guard duty at a gated community entrance in Carrick Creagh when the couple arrived.

Tsikwa advised them that they were not allowed to enter the property as they had an outstanding payment of US$600 for security and other services.

This did not go down well with the couple.

It went on to twist the electronic boom gate, breaking it in the process.

A police report was made leading to its arrest.

The duo was remanded out of custody to April 16.

Mashonganyika recently sued the government after the Local Government ministry cancelled a title deed to a property she bought for US$4 000 instead of US$20 000.

Apologise To Nation, Zanu PF Hardliners Tell Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent

In a surprising turn of events, hardliners within Zimbabwe’s ruling party Zanu PF, known as Varakashi, have publicly urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to issue an apology to the citizens of Zimbabwe for what they perceive as his delayed assumption of the presidency.

This unexpected plea was detailed in a statement released on Wednesday by Varakashi group running a Facebook page called Operation Restore Legacy.

The statement is clear in its demand, expressing that President Mnangagwa should acknowledge and apologize for what they claim to be a belated ascension to power.

It reads, “President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa should apologize to the people of Zimbabwe for being President a bit late.”

Furthermore, the Varakashi group went on to assert that had President Mnangagwa assumed office back in 2008, Zimbabwe would now be akin to a first-world nation.

This assertion adds an interesting layer to the statement, suggesting a belief among some Zanu PF members that significant opportunities were missed due to what they see as a delay in leadership change.

In the words of the Varakashi representatives, the sentiment is straightforward and carries weight.

They emphasized the potential impact of an earlier presidency, implying that the course of Zimbabwe’s development could have been dramatically altered with a different timeline of events.

One can’t help but ponder the underlying motivations behind such a bold public appeal from within the ruling party.

Speculation may arise regarding internal dissatisfaction or differing opinions on the trajectory of governance under Mnangagwa’s leadership.

President Mnangagwa has not yet responded to this call for an apology, and it remains to be seen how this unexpected development will unfold within the political landscape of Zimbabwe.

The Varakashi statement serves as a reminder of the complexities within Zanu PF, hinting at diverse perspectives and expectations even among those at the core of the ruling establishment.

The Varakashi group’s appeal for an apology from Mnangagwa adds a new dimension to the political discourse in Zimbabwe.

Whether this call will lead to any tangible outcomes or shifts in political dynamics remains uncertain.

However, it undoubtedly underscores the nuanced dynamics at play within the ruling party and the broader national sentiment regarding leadership and accountability.

AFM Pastor’s WhatsApp Love Chats With Married Woman

Zimbabwean Church Leader Caught in Scandal, Lawsuit Ensues.

Screenshot

In a shocking revelation that has shaken the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) of Zimbabwe, Overseer Tamuka Zvavahera, a prominent church leader in Bulawayo West, has been implicated in a scandalous affair with a married congregant. The controversy erupted following the leak of intimate WhatsApp messages between Zvavahera and the woman, identified only as Sindisiwe.

Zvavahera, who held significant responsibilities as the head of all AFM pastors in his province, now faces the fallout of his actions which include the termination of his pastoral and oversight duties. The elders of the Faith Centre Assembly, disturbed by the alleged misconduct, referred the matter to the church’s national headquarters in Harare, demanding strict disciplinary measures against Zvavahera for his actions which “put the name of the church into disrepute.”

Despite the gravity of the accusations, including documented messages where Zvavahera expresses growing affection and arranges secretive meetings with Sindisiwe, he has decided to challenge his dismissal. Represented by lawyers from Macharaga Law Chambers, Zvavahera argues that his termination was mishandled, claiming it lacked proper procedure under the church’s constitution.

“The respondents erred and grossly committed an irregularity by terminating the applicant’s contract without properly charging him of any offence in terms of AFM constitution and they never gave reasons for terminating his contract. They also never afforded him an opportunity to defend himself,” reads the lawsuit filed by Zvavahera’s legal team.

This legal battle does not just threaten to expose the internal rifts within the AFM but also highlights issues of ethical leadership and accountability in religious communities. The case continues to develop as both legal and public scrutiny intensify around Overseer Zvavahera’s actions and the broader implications for the church’s credibility.

Ntabazinduna Twins Killed in Johannesburg Shooting

By Dorrothy Moyo | A heartrending shadow has fallen over the Zhou family of Madlelenyoni, Ntabazinduna, as they grapple with the sudden and brutal loss of twins Samukelisiwe and Attalia Zhou, who were both killed on April 3rd in a horrifying domestic dispute in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Born on August 24, 1983, the twins were celebrated figures in their community, embodying hope and unity. Tragically, their lives were cut short at 41 during a family meeting intended to resolve marital issues between Samukelisiwe and her husband, Justin Mahlaba. The dispute took a lethal turn when Mahlaba, in a fit of rage, fired on the sisters, then himself, turning a session meant for reconciliation into a scene of devastation.

Farai, the twins’ elder brother, described the chilling events, noting that the meeting began with a prayer and heartfelt discussions before spiraling into chaos. Mahlaba’s actions not only ended the lives of the beloved sisters but also left their children motherless, their family bereft, and a community in mourning.

The aftermath at the Zhou family home is somber, with ongoing prayers and preparations for the twins’ return to their final resting place in their birth village. Thulani, another brother, expressed his deep sorrow and disbelief, emphasizing the non-violent nature of his sisters and the injustice of their deaths. He mentioned the cultural expectations of appeasement and cleansing that now fall to the Mahlaba family in light of the tragedy.

Ottilia, the twins’ younger sister, echoed the sentiments of shock and heartache, urging the importance of vocalizing and addressing domestic issues to prevent such tragedies. She made a poignant appeal to the public for support in these difficult times, highlighting the urgent need for assistance with funeral arrangements and the care of the twins’ children.

As the community comes together to support the Zhou family, the profound impact of this tragedy underscores the vital need for addressing domestic violence and supporting those in crisis. The funeral is scheduled for this Sunday, where the twins will be laid to rest in a ceremony filled with both grief and love, as the family, friends, and community members bid farewell to Samukelisiwe and Attalia Zhou.

Mnangagwa To Address Kids On Independence Day Eve

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe prepares to celebrate its Independence Day, President Emmerson Mnangagwa and First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa are set to engage with the youth of the nation in Buhera on the eve of this significant occasion. The event, organized by the ruling Zanu PF party, raises important questions about the message the country’s leaders will convey to children amidst ongoing economic challenges.

The backdrop against which this gathering takes place is crucial.

Zimbabwe has been grappling with persistent economic hardships marked by inflation, currency instability, and unemployment.

These issues directly impact families and, by extension, the younger generations who are witnessing and experiencing the effects firsthand.

In a statement released by the Zanu PF party, the significance of this event is underscored.

It’s described as a unique opportunity for leaders to connect with and celebrate Zimbabwe’s youth, who embody the country’s future and aspirations.

Unity, peace, and progress are highlighted as core values that the nation continues to strive for as it commemorates its independence.

However, the pressing question remains: what will President Mnangagwa and the First Lady communicate to the children of Zimbabwe amidst these challenging times?

Undoubtedly, their message will need to strike a delicate balance between acknowledging the current difficulties and instilling hope and resilience in the younger generation.

Here are some potential themes that may be addressed during their engagement:

  1. Empowerment and Education: The importance of education and acquiring skills that will enable children to navigate challenging economic landscapes. Encouraging a commitment to learning and personal development despite obstacles.
  2. Unity and Solidarity: Emphasizing the strength that comes from unity and collective effort. Inspiring children to work together towards a common vision of a prosperous Zimbabwe.
  3. Leadership and Responsibility: Instilling a sense of responsibility and leadership among young Zimbabweans, highlighting that they too have a role to play in shaping the future of their country.
  4. Hope and Resilience: Acknowledging the difficulties faced by families and communities but emphasizing that challenges are temporary. Encouraging perseverance and optimism.
  5. Opportunities for Youth: Promoting initiatives and programs that provide avenues for youth empowerment, skills development, and entrepreneurship.

This event represents more than just a ceremonial engagement.

It’s an opportunity for Zimbabwe’s leaders to connect authentically with the next generation, to listen to their concerns, and to inspire them with a vision of a brighter tomorrow.

It’s a chance to reinforce the values of the nation’s independence struggle and to galvanize youth
participation in shaping the trajectory of Zimbabwe’s future.

The outcome of this gathering will not only be measured by the speeches delivered but by the lasting impact on the hearts and minds of the young participants. As Zimbabwe commemorates another year of independence, the message to its children must resonate with hope, determination, and a collective commitment to overcoming challenges and building a better nation.
