Proposed Way Forward For Zimbabwe | By Dr Marunda

By Dr Elizabeth Marunda | Opening Remarks
With respect to our current political economy of Zimbabwe, “It is the responsibility of each living individual to stand up humbly against the Machiavellian Approach to life and politics, persuading those wishing and working towards the sustainable control of others, to
stop in their tracks, and empathize with humanity”
A Proposal
A proposal to how those interested in change may contribute:
1. The supermarket offer reasonable discounts for mealie-meal,(M) surf (S)and vim (V) AND
2. Those feeling the desire to contribute buy the product whose making process is described below in 3.
3. That some interested people and recall affected MPs buy those three items. mix the above ingredieants in the the following propotions 3 cups/3 plates/3bucketsThen 1tablespoon surf/1 table spoon vim) NB: I have changed the ratios because mealie meal alone is very effective. It can remove all the rusty appearance that might have accumulated at the bottom of the toilet sink
4. Let there be a cell phone advertised so that people in Zimbabwe can make their donations of as little as USD0.50 which can be transparently distributed among the affected members in question.
5. Since the recall has rendered the opposition member-less??, it would not hurt to swallow pride and think of coming up with an old name, like MDT as already proposed by one member, or a name like Zimbabwe Democratic Alliance for People (ZDAP) and more suggestions on names made, so that the leadership can settle on one.
5.1 Then on the basis of the ten provinces( Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Harare, Midlands, and Masvingo THEN Zimbabwean Diasporeans in the Asian Continent, Australia, Americas and Europe (ie 14 “Provinces” standing for 14 Ministries- that can quickly be brainstormed, a list of examples is below.
1. Ministry Of ECD, Primary, Secondary And Higher Education
2. Ministry Of Health, Social Welfare, NSSA And Pensions
3. Ministry Of Land Audit, Valuation, Agricultural Training And Land Allocation
4. Ministry Of Agriculture, Water And Irrigation
5. Ministry Of Value & Culture Based Entrepreneurship , Youths, Women, Diaspora-Student- Working-Adults-And-Professional Returnees, Differently Abled, Refugees And Out Of Correctional Service.
6. Ministry Of Infrastructure , Green Energy And Sustainable Aesthetics(Innovative Re-Afforestation And Landscaping)
7. Ministry Of Industry, Commerce and Foreign Affairs
8. Ministry Of Tourism, Transport, Environment, Sport, And Recreation
9. Ministry Of Home Affairs, Defense And The Prison Service
10. Ministry Of Urban And Rural Planning, Construction And Housing
11. Ministries-Based Research, Policy Development & Analysis, , Monitoring And Evaluation
12. Ministry Of Publication, Literary And Expressive Arts, Film Industry And Entertainment
13. Ministry Of All Local Languages Regional Languages, International Languages And Exchange Programmes
14. Ministry Of Benchmarking, Engineering, Model Making Of Solar Panels, Solar Batteries, Solar Cars, Electric Cars, And Novel Electrical Appliances And ITC Based Technologies
What is being said here? Each of the 14 ‘Provinces’ is allocated a Shadow Minister with relevant qualifications. (This is a Leadership Assignment) Then each Minister through the relevant recruitment committee from the Commission Of Human Capital Development, Human Resources Recruitment and Monitoring, As Well As, Outside Professional Placements) carries out the staffing of newly needed personnel in Ministries and Parastatals
Two critical Factors for Consideration:
Please note that the Equality and Fairness to opportunities will be enjoyed with conscious development and implementation of recruitment policies. In addition to relevant qualifications, among other recruitment criteria, often complained about, but ignored on the ground, are:
• Gender composition
• Ethnic composition (15)
• Youths
• Differently Abled
• Individuals Out of Correctional Services
THIS IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Chamisa In Renewed Plan To Tackle Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- The leadership of the main opposition, the Citizens Coalitions for Change (CCC) leadership, met today to deliberate on the way forward after the party was barred from participating in Saturday’s by-election which saw Zanu PF winning seven of the vacant nine National Assembly seats.
The ruling party also gained four council seats, three in Bulawayo and one in Masvingo, in the elections marred by poor voter turnout.

The by-elections were called after self-imposed CCC interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu recalled several legislators and councillors elected in the August 23 to 24 harmonised elections.
The main CCC faction led by Nelson Chamisa successfully renominated the recalled MPs and councillors, but Tshabangu applied to the High Court to have them removed from the ballot paper. His application was granted and the candidates failed to participate in the by-elections.
The situation has reportedly thrust the opposition party in a dilemma on the way forward as some party members are reportedly mobilising for withdrawal from Parliament in protest over the electoral fisaco.
In an interview with NewsDay, CCC organising secretary Amos Chibaya said the party’s national assembly would meet in the capital to discuss the way forward.
“The citizens national assembly is going to meet tomorrow (today) in the capital. This is where we are going to come up with a decision we are going to take and we are going to call a Press conference after the meeting,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement following announcement of the by-election results, CCC national spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi said the party took all necessary measures for its party members to participate in the weekend polls.
“The just ended Zanu PF masterminded by-elections gave the full picture of the regime’s brazen determination to undermine democracy, shred the Constitution and deny citizens their inalienable right to vote for representatives of their choice,” he said.
“The ill-fated elections are a sham as evidenced by an unprecedented low voter turnout and unusually high number of spoilt ballots both signalling the people’s anger and growing impatience with the regime’s shenanigans.”
Mkwananzi also said the party took all necessary legal steps to ensure the inclusion of its candidates on the ballot in the by-elections.
“It is sad that more than 40 years after independence citizens have to approach the courts to be on the ballot paper and actually be denied that effectively denying citizens the choice to vote for the removed candidates,” he said, adding that CCC would file a formal complaint with the Judicial Service Commission.
In October this year, CCC ordered all its parliamentarians and councillors to temporarily disengage from Parliament and local authority business, pursuant to a resolution of citizens national assembly on the recalls.

SA’s Anti-ZEPs Minister Rushed To Hospital

By James Gwati – South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has been admitted to the Steve Biko Academic Hospital for an undisclosed medical procedure, prompting concerns about his availability in the coming days.

The Department of Home Affairs issued a statement confirming the hospitalization, indicating that the Minister’s absence may extend for an unspecified period. The specifics of Motsoaledi’s condition and his expected stay duration remain undisclosed.

Ministerial spokesperson Thabo Mokgola conveyed the information in a brief statement, revealing that Motsoaledi entered the hospital on Monday, December 11, 2023, for the medical procedure.

Mokgola stated, “The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, has today, December 11 2023, been admitted to the Steve Biko Academic Hospital for a medical procedure. The Minister may be unavailable for a while.”

Motsoaledi, who previously served as the Minister of Health for a decade before assuming his current role, has been a notable figure among Zimbabweans due to his persistent attempts to terminate Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP) and repatriate Zimbabwean nationals.

Despite multiple efforts, Motsoaledi’s endeavours to terminate the ZEP program have faced repeated setbacks, with the courts consistently dismissing his proposals for more merit.

The Minister’s stance on ZEP termination has generated controversy and garnered attention from various stakeholders.

What’s Wrong With VP Chiwenga Being Gay?

“Vice President Chiwenga Addresses Speculation on Personal Bond with President Mnangagwa”

Constantino Chiwenga

By Farai D Hove | In a recent statement, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga addressed speculation surrounding his private relationship with President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, sparking discussions about the possible revelation of a same-sex connection at the highest levels of Zimbabwean politics.

Chiwenga’s assertion, “President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and I are one. We are bound together. He has my blood and I have his blood. He is part of me and I am part of him,” has left many intrigued about the nature of their connection.

While Chiwenga did not explicitly address the suggestion of a romantic involvement, his words have nevertheless sparked conversations about LGBTQ+ visibility in Zimbabwe. Some interpret his remarks as an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to feel encouraged to express themselves openly and without fear.

The message from the vice president could potentially serve as a catalyst for breaking down societal barriers, fostering acceptance, and empowering individuals to embrace their identities. However, it is crucial to note that Chiwenga’s statement may have intended a symbolic or metaphorical meaning, emphasizing a deep personal and professional connection rather than a romantic one.

As discussions unfold, it remains to be seen whether this moment will have a lasting impact on the perception of LGBTQ+ rights in Zimbabwe, a country where such issues have historically been sensitive and met with mixed reactions. The reaction from the public, political figures, and advocacy groups will likely shape the narrative surrounding this revelation and its implications for the broader discourse on diversity and acceptance in the nation.

Bulawayo giants Highlanders have appointed Kevin Kaindu as their new head coach.

The Zambian gaffer replaces Baltemar Brito after the Bosso hierarchy announced they would not renew the Portuguese mentor’s contract when it expires on December 31, 2023.

“Highlanders Football Club is delighted to announce Kelvin Kaindu as the head coach for the club’s first team,” Highlanders said in a statement.

“Kaindu is not new to the club, having previously played for Highlanders in 1997, before he was entrusted with the Bosso dugout between 2012 and 2014.

“The entire management and the club would like to extend a warm welcome to Kaindu and wish him all the best as he opens yet another chapter with Highlanders Football Club.”- Soccer24 News

Parliament’s Neither A Zone Of Autonomy Or Of Power Especially When It’s Illegal

Parliament is neither a zone of autonomy or of power especially when it’s illegal from inception, and for 46 years, no one has ever taken state power from participating in illegal parliamentarism.

By Simba Chikanza | Power is outside and the most ordinary citizen has ability to seize power not through any demo or special effort, but through the most simplistic of methodologies. Emmerson Mnangagwa for instance, did not join Ian Smith’s Parliament, he left the country, and while his (Mnangagwa’s) technique was traveling outside Zimbabwe to Zambia to bed Tongogara’s sister on Smith’s instructions, so to get power from 1977; for me Human Rights Watch’s local director reports how I removed a sitting State President in a single phonecall interview while outside Parliament and outside the country in 2021, and in the last year alone I have controlled Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia via phone for 2 days on full colour videocall; In the whole month of August 2023, I controlled a Zambian Presidential candidate who is the nation’s former Foreign Affairs Minister via phone for nearly 3 weeks, and in the first week of Dec 2023, I have single handedly run both Scott Sakupwanya’s and Sengezo Tshabangu’s Office operations via phone while 6,000 miles away.

Is this not clear evidence that power is outside not within illegal system carrots?

Will CCC be able to handle the GoldMafia implicated, Scott Sakupwanya in the August house whose only work experience and method of engagement is ‘typed down’ as machete-based-conversations? How will Scott behave once he is in Parliament? The late Joshua Nkomo drew a violent massacre onto tens of thousands of innocent civilians by participating in a marriage with the violent Mnangagwa run ZANU PF security system, and his MPs began receiving raids from around Nov 1980 at their Harare houses when ZANU PF chased them down as a method of concluding Parliament debates, violently. The violent debates later spread down to the Entumbane battlefields to kill thousands of innocent lives.

On numerous occasions I havd illustrated that the Zim people have state power already and it is right in their hands not inside the Chinese built Parliament building. And after Mnangagwa’s illegalities have been exposed by SADC, AU, and now the IPU, there is no more reason for CCC MPs to hope on thinking they can do better than Joshua Nkomo. It is time to break out of illegal institutions and lead the masses in revolutionary methods, that are really simple approaches of taking and excercising the state power they possess in their hands lest they end up transferring it to illegals.

Like Morgan Tsvangirai learnt when Hele regained his now fading state power, by boycotting in 2009, state power will never come from illegal systems, or their despotic leaders. Despots will never give power to the masses. State power is in the hands of the most ordinary citizens who take advantage of it and it comes from simply realising it and exercising it.

Power is obtained from the masses, not from despots or their illegal parliaments. The closer you are to despots, the farther you are away from power.

Algeria Fume Over Mahrez Failure To Win Player Of The Year Award

The Algerian Football Federation didn’t attend the 2023 CAF Awards in Morocco on Monday in protest over Riyad Mahrez’s exclusion in the final three nominees for the CAF Player of the Year.

Mahrez missed out in the final shortlist which had Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi.

Osimhen was the eventual winner at the awards ceremony, picking his first ever CAF’s top award.

President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) Walid Sadi boycotted the event and even called on fellow Algerians to disregard the ceremony in solidarity to Mahrez.

“I will not attend the CAF Awards ceremony. I have informed CAF of my decision, and, with the grace of God, no Algerian will be present at this event in solidarity with Riyad Mahrez and the Union Sportive de la Medina d’Alger,” he said at the press briefing ahead of the awards, as quoted by Draiz Tube.-Soccer24 News

Mutoriro And Addiction

Let’s embark on a deeper exploration of the intricate and multifaceted world of substance abuse and its close companion, denial. Denial, in the context of addiction, is not a mere assertion that one is free from substance abuse issues or can quit at will. It is a complex psychological phenomenon that often extends its reach far beyond the substance itself, influencing behaviors, circumstances, and belief systems.

Addiction, particularly when fueled by potent substances like crystal meth, exerts a profound impact on an individual’s psyche. It brings about a cascade of behavioral changes, effectively robbing them of empathy and sympathy, two fundamental aspects of human connection. What emerges from this transformation is a cocktail of aggression, anger, and various negative behaviors that become the new norm for someone trapped in the throes of addiction.

The paradox lies in the fact that, while these individuals may manifest increasingly hostile and irritable behaviors, they are often oblivious to these changes. In their self-deceptive state of denial, they may perceive themselves as harmless, even as they unwittingly push away their loved ones and make themselves inaccessible to support and understanding.

This state of denial extends to their belief system, where they staunchly maintain that their actions and substance abuse do not affect the people in their immediate environment, whether it be their coworkers, family members, or friends. They may remain steadfast in their conviction that their late-night activities in the garage, for example, are harmless, despite the disturbances they cause to those around them.

It is only as individuals progress in their journey toward recovery that the veils of denial begin to lift. These layers of self-deception gradually peel back, revealing the stark reality beneath. As they move through the steps of recovery and engage in a structured program, they slowly start to recognize the profound impact their behaviors have on those in their lives, as well as their own well-being.

For instance, take the case of an individual laboring late into the night, driven by the influence of crystal meth, blissfully unaware of the disruptions they cause to their family’s sleep and the peace of their neighbors. In their altered state, they genuinely believe they are diligently working, seemingly impervious to the harm they inflict on their surroundings.

In essence, denial is a formidable adversary, an intricate and pervasive barrier to self-awareness and change. It is not restricted solely to the quantity of drugs used or the belief that quitting is an easy feat. Denial extends its tendrils into every aspect of one’s life, reshaping perceptions and behaviors, and only begins to crumble as individuals confront their beliefs and embark on the path to recovery. As they progress in their journey, the truth gradually becomes evident, and the stronghold of denial loosens its grip, making way for a brighter, more hopeful future.

Mwonzora Gets Top Post In Fringe Opposition Coalition

Douglas Mwonzora, the president of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), was elected as the spokesperson for the National Electoral Reforms Agenda (NERA) in Zimbabwe on January 18, 2024. NERA is a coalition of 25 political parties, including some that did not participate in the 2023 elections. Mwonzora explained that NERA aims to advocate for electoral reforms in the country, given Zimbabwe’s history of disputed elections. He said:

“The aim of NERA is to spearhead electoral reforms in the country. Our country has a history of disputed elections, and we need to stop that. Membership of NERA is open to all political parties whether they participated in previous elections or not.”

Mwonzora’s MDC party did not take part in the 2023 elections citing the need to implement electoral reforms. They specifically contested and lost the delimitation exercise, which Mwonzora believed was unfairly biased in favour of the ruling party, Zanu-PF.

Previously, Nelson Chamisa, the current leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), the main opposition party, had threatened to boycott elections until electoral reforms were implemented. He has, however, contested in all previous elections.

Electoral reforms were also recommended in the Mothlanthe Commission report, which investigated the August 1, 2018 shooting incident in Harare. During the incident, six civilians protesting against the delayed release of presidential election results were fatally shot by the police and army.

Zimbabwe’s history of disputed elections has strained its relations with Western powers and other countries. These entities now demand electoral reforms as a prerequisite for re-engagement. Notable elections, such as those in 2008, 2018, and 2023, have been marred by allegations of Zanu-PF violence against opposition supporters and claims of election result manipulation in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

Some political analysts argue that the ruling party, Zanu-PF, lacks the motivation to implement electoral reforms as the current system benefits them.

There are concerns among some observers that the National Electoral Reforms Agenda in Zimbabwe may not achieve its intended objectives. They speculate that the hidden agenda might be to financially benefit its members rather than bringing about substantial reforms.

Dexter Nduna Disqualified From Contesting For Chegutu West By-Elections

Outspoken former Chegutu West Member of Parliament (MP), Dexter Nduna has had his quest for another bite of the cherry as a parliamentarian dashed after Zanu PF disqualified him from contesting a primary election to choose a party representative.

Zanu PF primary elections will be held this Wednesday, December 13, ahead of by-elections in Chegutu West and Zvimba East, as well as Chinhoyi Wards 9, 10 and 12 on February 3, 2024.

poster
Zanu PF Mashonaland West Provincial Chairman, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka on Sunday presided over a potentially explosive meeting at Rukawo Hotel, where tempers flared following the announcement of Nduna’s disqualification.

Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com on the sidelines of the meeting while mobbed by his supporters, Nduna expressed optimism to reverse the adverse decision reportedly made by the Politburo, the party’s highest authority outside congress.

As a result of Nduna’s jettisoning, aspiring Zanu PF candidates for Chegutu West, whose CVs sailed through vetting include Shaky Timburwa, Brian Chinyama and Timothy Masviba. At the same time, Last Farai Chigavazira pulled out of the race under unclear circumstances.

Meanwhile, Mliswa-Chikoka’s whirlwind Sunday tour took her to Northcot Hall in Mt Hampden, Zvimba East constituency where another by-election is scheduled following the recall of the surprise winner in the August 23 election, Oliver Mutasa of Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC).

Former Zvimba East legislator, Francis Mukwangwarirwa, who narrowly lost the predominantly rural constituency in the just-ended August 23 and 24 harmonised elections, is facing a stiff challenge from three others namely, Gibson Chihaka, Antony Magama Dube and Kudakwashe Decide Mananzva who also wishes to replace the recalled CCC MP.

In Chinhoyi Ward 9, Edward Besu squares off against Job Mavata in a bid to get the right to replace a recalled CCC councillor.

Godfrey Muzhandamuri, Angeline Rupere, West Chinembiri and Elias Mhako battle to win the right to represent the revolutionary party in Chinhoyi Ward 10. The ward seat became vacant following the recall of CCC’s Lovemore Kurwakumire by self-styled interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu.

Zanu PF Youth League officials Ketty Chanetsa, Patrick Nyamayaro, Innocent Simba Chakaodza and Viola Moyo face off in Ward 12, which fell vacant following the recall of former Chinhoyi mayor Dyke Makumbi.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters, Mliswa-Chikoka implored candidates to put aside their differences and rally behind winners of impending primary elections to be held Wednesday.

“It would be prudent to agree on the best candidate and avoid divisive primaries, but just because Zanu PF is a democratic party, where there is more than one aspiring candidate there would be primaries. The main goal is to reclaim seats from CCC which is currently in disarray.

“We must choose candidates who possess the stamina and political clout to win the electorate’s hearts despite their financial standing. The best candidate is not always the one splashing cash…,” said Mliswa-Chikoka.

Ivy Kombo, hubby trials kickstarts

The trial of gospel musician Ivy Kombo and her husband Admire Kasi who allegedly fraudulently acquired fake certificates to practise law in Zimbabwe started yesterday before Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.

The couple is being represented by Shylet Mapanje and Admire Rubaya.

Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje led the first witness, Joe Zimba, who is the finance and administrative manager at the Council for Legal Education. Zimba said the third accused person Huggins Duri, was the superior at the organisation, when the alleged crime was committed.

He told the court that Duri, whose duties included creating contracts and organising meetings for the Council of Legal Education, was responsible for sending the list of certificates for printing at Fidelity Printers.

The State tendered the application form which is alleged to have been submitted by Kombo as evidence before the court.

Zimba told the court that the couple’s names did not appear on the consolidated schedule list for August 2022 which carries names of students who sat for the examination. Zimba said if the name did not appear on the list, it was an indication that one did not write the examination.

He noted that if one passed the examination, it would be highlighted on the schedule list.

The court heard that Kombo and Kasi’s names did not appear on the students’ collection list for those who successfully passed the examination, indicating that they did not pass the examination.

Zimba denied that one can obtain a certificate if their name does not appear on the certificate collection schedule. He expressed ignorance over where Kombo and Kasi obtained their certificates to practise law.

Kombo is denying committing the alleged offence in her individual capacity or in connivance with anyone in the manner alleged or at all.

The defence argues that Kombo was exempted from writing the examination since she had a masters in law degree acquired at a university in 2014. Rubaya said at the time Kombo engaged the Council for Legal Education there were no conversion examinations for students who had a masters in law degree.

He further argued that Kombo was advised by a Council for Legal Education official, only identified as Ncube, that she was eligible for exemption since she was a holder of masters in law degree.

Dexter Nduna shown middle finger

By A Correspondent- Outspoken former Chegutu West Member of Parliament (MP), Dexter Nduna has had his quest for another bite of the cherry as a parliamentarian dashed after Zanu-PF disqualified him from contesting a primary election to choose a party representative.

“I am told that my CV (curriculum vitae) for aspiring MP, so that l go into the primary election, was removed. So l have been told to appeal,” said former lawmaker.

Questioned what could have precipitated the removal of his credentials, Nduna said he was equally in the dark.

“I have not been told. Be that as it may, l am still going to stand,” he vowed.

BREAKING- Another CCC member arrested

By A Correspondent- Opposition CCC member Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi has been arrested for malicious damage to property.

This was revealed by Gift Ostallos Siziba in a tweet where he said:

“Hon @KufaMunya has been arrested over Trumped Up Charges of Assault and Malicipus damage to property. This is the continuation of the crack down and closure of democratic space in Zimbabwe.”

CCC in crunch indaba

By A Correspondent- The Citizens Coalitions for Change (CCC) leadership is meeting today to deliberate on the way forward after the party was barred from participating in Saturday’s by-election which saw Zanu PF winning seven of the vacant nine National Assembly seats.

Zimbabweans Astonished By Mthuli Ncube’s Dubious Award

Many Zimbabweans have reacted with astonishment after Mthuli Ncube was named “Best African Finance Minister of the Year” despite the country’s economic turmoil.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, said the award was “akin to applauding a captain for steering a ship straight into an iceberg”.

Another user called it “the greatest joke of the decade”.

Zimbabwe’s unemployment rate is as high as 85%, economists say.

Up to 80% of transactions are carried out in US dollars because of a lack of confidence in the local currency, according to the Reuters news agency.

Reputation Poll International – an organisation that says it “manages reputations” – gave Mr Ncube the award on Sunday.

The minister, who was appointed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2018, told the state-controlled Herald newspaper that he was delighted to receive the honour.

He said it was recognition of the work he and the Treasury team had done that has “spearheaded the transformation of the economy”.

However, activist Hopewell Chin’ono said on X that the award was an “insult” to Zimbabweans.

He expressed incredulity especially after Mr Ncube’s recent budget, that Mr Chin’ono dubbed “the most anti-people national budget that Zimbabwe has ever had”.

This will see an increase in taxes, and hike passport fees to $200 (£160), up from $120, making it the most expensive in the region.

Mr Chin’ono added that Mr Ncube was “presiding over the worst economy in the world” brought about by his “misguided and corrupt policies”.

Zimbabwe’s economy has been struggling for decades. The Zimbabwe dollar was withdrawn in 2009 after inflation reached a staggering 231 million per cent, meaning prices were changing by the hour.

Critics blame mismanagement by the ruling Zanu-PF party, first under Robert Mugabe and then Mr Mnangagwa. They have in turn blamed sanctions imposed by Western countries.

Over the weekend Zimbabwe held controversial by-elections after MPs from the main opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), were recalled.

Zanu-PF candidates won seven of the nine by-elections but remains three seats short of the two-thirds parliamentary majority required to change the constitution.

Man drags 2nd wife to court over upkeep

A Harare man has approached the civil courts in Harare demanding that his second wife should pay 50% of their household expenses.

Norman Takawira told Harare magistrate Ayanda Dlamini that his wife Chipo Choga was causing chaos in their polygamous relationship after she claimed maintenance last month which prompted his first wife to plan claiming the same payment.

“We have been living peacefully as I provided for both my wives and four children, but the respondent decided to drag me to court claiming US$60 in maintenance,” Takawira told the court.

“My other wife has also been hinting that she will also approach the courts and claim her own share of maintenance since I am paying (the other wife),” Takawira said.

He told the magistrate that because he had since lost his means of income, his second wife should chip in caring for the family.

“She is the one who is currently employed among the three of us in my family. She earns a good salary which comprises of a US$ component and RTGS (Zimdollar),” he submitted.

Takawira accused the respondent of lying about her income.

“She was not honest about her salary the last time we appeared in court. She can afford to contribute towards the families’ upkeep more than me,” he said.

Takawira pleaded that the US$60 maintenance he was ordered to pay in November be revised downwards.

Choga opposed her husband’s application arguing that he was seeking to avoid paying maintenance.

“I am tired of him because we were in here two weeks ago, but he is already dragging me back to court,” Choga said.

Dlamini dismissed Takawira’s application for the reduction in maintenance.

Magaya reveals Chitungwiza plans

By A Correspondent- After the successful commissioning of his Heart Stadium by President Emmerson in Waterfalls on Sunday, PHD leader Walter Magaya now wants to turn his attention on constructing similar facilities in his hometown Chitungwiza.

The 5 000-seater facility was officially opened at a ceremony that was attended by top government officials, ambassadors, businesspeople, Premier Soccer League bosses, coaches, and past and present footballers, among others.

Magaya revealed that he sold four houses, two luxury cars and 64 residential stands to fund the Heart Stadium project, a facility replete with unique features including trendy dugouts, world class dressing rooms equipped with 100-inch television sets and other modern electronic devices, VIP enclosure and directors/corporate boxes.

It also has a sophisticated suspended playing pitch.

Magaya said he was humbled by the support he received on Sunday, although he expressed disappointment that the Zifa Normalisation Committee, who are the custodian of local football, decided to stay away despite being formally invited.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony on Sunday, Magaya said he wants to replicate the Heart Stadium success elsewhere, including in Chitungwiza, where he wants to construct at least two stadiums to help talented young footballers in the dormitory town realise their dreams.

“I was a very talented footballer growing up, and I featured for the Under-13 national team, but could not realise my potential in football because we didn’t have facilities. I don’t want the same to happen to the current and future generations,” Magaya said.

A few years ago, Magaya proposed a deal to the Chitungwiza Town Council to renovate Chibuku Stadium which he wanted to use as a home ground for his Premiership side Yadah FC.

However, council officials said they were not ready to give him a long lease, which he wanted, and the deal collapsed.

But he is not ready to give up, and on Sunday, Magaya appealed to Mnangagwa to intervene.

“Your Excellency, we have approached different city councils, looking first at Chitungwiza where I come from. I wish to construct a stadium in Chitungwiza and replicate the same that is here, at Chibuku Stadium. I have engaged the Chitungwiza City Council, but the response is not yet favourable. It is my prayer that I assist Chitungwiza. If they give me a greenlight today, I will start work the next day,” he said.

Magaya went back for another meeting with the Chitungwiza City Council to try and revive the deal, the third time he had such a meeting, but still found no joy.

“I want to build two stadiums there. I have the stadium plans, and everything is ready, but they (councillors) are slow. They don’t react, I don’t know why. I want to renovate Chibuku Stadium, I want to construct a stadium in Zengeza. I’m ready, I have guys behind the scenes who are ready to sponsor. I have big plans for Chitungwiza, I want to build that city. I went there four years ago; I went there again two years ago so this was my third visit there. I met the full council and I told them I want to build Chitungwiza and bring it to life. There are a million people in Chitungwiza and these guys need help, so my dream is to build them stadiums.”

Border jumpers nabbed in Limpopo

Police in Limpopo said they have intercepted a convoy of motor vehicles which were travelling from Zimbabwe and heading to Polokwane, carrying more than 100 undocumented foreign nationals.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the vehicles were allegedly loaded with 133 undocumented children, women and men before they were intercepted by the Limpopo provincial tracking team.

“The police operationalised on information received and managed to locate 11 motor vehicles travelling along the N1 North bypass gateway, outside Polokwane,” said Mashaba.

“The vehicles were tactically approached, stopped and searched and found to be overloaded with 73 underage children between six months and 17 years, including 60 adults,” he said.

“The passengers could not provide the legal documentations for being in the country and were placed under arrest on the spot. Most of the passengers could not establish where they were going and were suspected to be victims of human trafficking.”

Mashaba said police also seized eight Toyota Quantum vehicles, two Toyota Hilux GD6 double cab bakkies, with canopies, and a Toyota Fortuner.

“The police and other stakeholders comprising the Department of Home Affairs and Department of Social Development have been summoned to process the undocumented foreign nationals and suspected victims of human trafficking. Police investigations are continuing,” he said.

Last week, IOL reported that two Zimbabwean nationals were arrested over human trafficking charges after being found transporting 14 children to Cape Town. The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, also known as the Hawks, said the duo could face additional charges as the investigation continues.

Tafadzwa Nakakurwa, 46, and his 41-year-old alleged accomplice, Beulla Maruza, appeared in the Kimberley District Court on Thursday.

Hawks spokesperson, Tebogo Thebe said the two were seen boarding a bus, Big Sky Intercity Coaches, owned by Intercape, in Midrand with the undocumented children, aged between six and 14.

“Police were alerted to the incident by a vigilant passenger in a bus from Midrand in Johannesburg en route to Cape Town. The bus made a stopover in Kimberley. The passenger called an off-duty police officer who, in turn, alerted the multi-disciplinary team.

“The suspects claimed to be taking the kids to their parents in Cape Town, information the police could not verify, leading to the arrests.

“The victims (eight boys and six girls) were inspected and looked dirty and without any additional clothes or bags. They were also hungry. A Provincial Trafficking in Persons rapid response team led by the Department of Social Development was contacted to assist with placing the kids at a place of safety and providing food,” said Thebe.

Zimbabwe Prisons Unlawfully Detaining Jacob Ngarivhume

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services yesterday failed to release opposition leader Jacob Ngarivhume despite the High Court quashing both his conviction and sentence.

According to Transform Zimbabwe, the prison officer at Harare Central prisons told them that a warrant of liberation had not been issued by the High Court hence his continued detention.

Ngarivhume, the leader of Transform Zimbabwe political party, had been serving an effective three years in prison after he was convicted on Friday 28 April 2023 by Harare Magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka for incitement as defined in section 187(1)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act and sentenced to serve four years in prison. Magistrate Chakanyuka then suspended one year, which meant that the Transform Zimbabwe political party leader, would serve an effective three years in prison.

Ngarivhume’s conviction and sentence came after he was arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers on Monday 20 July 2020 and charged with incitement to participate in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of peace or bigotry as defined in section 187(1)(b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act as read with section 37(1)(a)(i) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

The opposition political party leader was also charged with incitement to commit public violence as defined in section 187(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act as read with section 36(1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

During trial before Magistrate Chakanyuka, prosecutors alleged that Ngarivhume incited people to revolt against President Mnangagwa’s administration during some countrywide anti-government protests called for on 31 July 2020.

In convicting Ngarivhume, Magistrate Chakanyuka ruled that the opposition political party leader tweeted a message that was inciting and reasonably foreseeing the possibility that the public could be incited by that.

But on Monday 11 December 2023, High Court Judges Justice Pisirayi Kwenda and Justice Fatima Maxwell upheld Ngarivhume’s appeal and set aside his conviction and sentence.

Justice Kwenda and Maxwell ruled that Magistrate Chakanyuka had grossly erred and misdirected herself when she convicted and sentenced Ngarivhume to serve jail time.

Ngarivhume becomes the latest person to be exonerated by the High Court after being arrested and put on trial on charges related to freedom of expression and freedom to petition and demonstrate after former Zengeza West legislator Hon. Job Sikhala, award winning and renowned novelist, filmmaker and
cultural activist, Tsitsi DangarembgaParere Kanyenzura, the Bishop of Mirirai Jehovha Apostolic Church and some of his church congregants, constitutional lawyer and opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change legislator for Mt Pleasant Advocate Fadzayi Mahere and freelance journalist Hopewell Chin’ono among others.

MAHERE EXCUSE CURSE- What Must Be Done to CCC MPs Refusing to Leave Parliament saying they’re Waiting Chamisa to Order Them?

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | In a divergence from fellow party members, Fadzayi Mahere, a prominent figure within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has declared her reluctance to withdraw from Parliament despite mounting public pressure and calls for the CCC to leave Mnangagwa’s controversial legislative body.

Fadzayi Mahere

Mahere, who represents Mt Pleasant in Parliament, explained her decision on X (formerly Twitter), stating that a withdrawal by CCC legislators could potentially grant ZANU PF the leeway to amend the Constitution unchecked, potentially leading to the establishment of a one-party state.

“I can assure you that if the @CCCZimbabwe’s Citizens’ National Assembly resolves that we should withdraw from Parliament, we will,” Mahere affirmed in her statement.

This announcement stands in contrast to the sentiments expressed by Darlington Chigumbu, the CCC Member of Parliament for Budiriro. Chigumbu voiced his willingness to quit Parliament, emphasizing his concern for CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, stating that he does not want to see Chamisa accused of actions he has not committed.

The backdrop of these decisions is the tumultuous political landscape since the November 2017 coup, with accusations against Mnangagwa’s party ranging from changing election results arbitrarily to engaging in outrageous conduct.

Mahere’s remarks come as Chigumbu broke ranks to express readiness to leave Parliament.

“President @nelsonchamisa is one person I know who listens to other people’s views.

“If the electorate is to be angry with anyone regarding tomfoolery happening at Parly then that anger must be directed to US the MPs not the president. It is us who must be clear and leave Parly,” wrote Chigumbu.

As discussions within the CCC unfold, the contrasting perspectives within the party highlight the complex considerations surrounding the decision to either remain in or withdraw from Mnangagwa’s parliament.

The Illusion of Parliamentary Power: Examining ZANU PF’s Unchecked Authority in Zimbabwe | ANALYSIS

In the face of mounting challenges to the democratic process in Zimbabwe, the claim that parliamentary presence can curtail ZANU PF’s stranglehold on power appears increasingly dubious. Fadzayi Mahere contends that staying in Parliament can prevent constitutional amendments, yet a closer examination of recent events paints a starkly different picture.

The recall of elected MPs, orchestrated by ZANU PF, exemplifies the party’s ability to manipulate parliamentary dynamics to its advantage. Despite Mahere’s optimism, the party has successfully implemented outrageous changes, such as the recalls, undermining the efficacy of parliamentary resistance.

Historical precedents reveal a troubling pattern of ZANU PF’s blatant disregard for parliamentary oversight. The 2017 removal of President Robert Mugabe through military intervention and the subsequent 2018 overthrow of Nelson Chamisa’s government underscore the party’s willingness to circumvent established democratic processes.

The tragic events of January 2019, where ZANU PF responded to fuel price protests with violence, killing 17 and subjecting over 50 women to rape, further highlight the party’s ability to act with impunity. Despite parliamentary pressure, ZANU PF proceeded without restraint, calling into question the efficacy of parliamentary influence in halting such atrocities.

The controversial 2023 elections, marked by ZANU PF’s use of army personnel within the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to manipulate results, serve as another stark example of the party’s unhindered actions. The ability to alter election outcomes and distribute parliamentary seats with impunity undermines any claim that parliamentary presence alone can act as a deterrent.

In light of this troubling history, Mahere’s assertion that her presence in Parliament can prevent ZANU PF from changing the Constitution seems increasingly unfounded. The stark reality is that ZANU PF’s actions have consistently demonstrated an ability to operate beyond the reach of parliamentary influence, raising critical questions about the effectiveness of the current democratic framework in Zimbabwe.

Tshabangu Sneaks Sandra Ndebele Into Bulawayo Council

By James Gwati- Self-imposed CCC interim secretary general, Sengezo Tshabangu, has assisted yester-year musician and Zanu PF activist Sandra Ndebele in getting into the Bulawayo City council.

Ndebele was elected Councillor for Ward 20 in Bulawayo during the by-elections caused by Tshabangu and held on 9 December 2023.

The Zanu PF councillor had previously lost to Simbarashe Dube of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) during the general elections in August 2023.

Ndebele received 1,106 votes in the by-election, defeating Dube, who received 782 votes.

Other candidates, Michael Gumede of CCC and Nomagugu Ndlovu of ZAPU received 57 and 11 votes respectively.

These by-elections were held to fill vacant positions after Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-proclaimed interim secretary general of CCC, recalled several CCC officials from Parliament and local governments, claiming that they no longer belonged to the party.
More by-elections are scheduled to take place on 3 February 2024.

ZANU PF Celebrates Hu-Bangu Hwa Tshabangu Election Result

In a jubilant celebration, ZANU PF marked its triumph in the condemned Tshabangu by-elections, securing seven out of nine parliamentary seats left vacant by recalls initiated by the CCC. The party’s Secretary General, Dr Obert Mpofu, dismissed opposition claims of orchestrating the recalls to secure a two-thirds majority, labeling them as “foolish talk.”

Dr Mpofu asserted, “We didn’t cause these by-elections. Our duty was to react to calls for democracy after CCC’s recalls due to their in-house wars, which we have nothing to do with.” He emphasized that any constitutional amendments would follow due parliamentary and transparent processes.

The by-elections held in Bulawayo, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, and Harare’s Mabvuku-Tafara resulted in ZANU PF winning seven seats, reinforcing its position in Parliament. CCC’s interim secretary general, Mr Sengezo Tshabangu, instigated the recalls, alleging that the concerned legislators had ceased to be members of their party.

ZANU PF’s victories included Bulawayo South, Cowdray Park, Nketa, Binga North, Lupane East, and Beitbridge West. Notably, the party increased its figures in Matabeleland North from the previous August elections.

With these wins, ZANU PF now holds 184 legislators out of 280, anticipating further gains in the upcoming February 3, 2024 by-elections in Pelandaba-Tshabalala, Goromonzi South, Chegutu West, Mkoba North, Seke, and Zvimba East.- Agencies

LEAKED AUDIO: Mnangagwa Likely Took How Much Bribe for Russia To Donate Fertilizer?

**Investigating Potential Bribery Scandal: $20 Million Donation Raises Eyebrows**

By Farai D Hove | Recent revelations from a leaked audio recording of a ZANU PF official, Simbarashe Marumahoko, alleging that Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa demanded a $20 million bribe in 2019 have resurfaced, creating a stir in light of a $20 million donation of fertilisers from Russia’s Uralchem Group.

Marumahoko’s accusations, made nearly three years ago, have remained unaddressed by Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba. The official claimed that Mnangagwa sought the bribe as a precondition for accepting a previous $20 million donation of food aid.

The current fertiliser donation from Uralchem Group, announced at the Russia-Africa Summit, raises questions about potential parallels between the two instances. The timing and amount are uncannily similar, prompting speculation about the motives behind the Russian company’s generous contribution.

While there is no direct evidence linking the fertilizer donation to any illicit activities, the circumstantial nature of the allegations from 2019 has ignited suspicions. As Zimbabwe faces increasing agricultural demands, the fertiliser shipment from Uralchem Group aligns with the nation’s efforts to bolster food security.

President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude for the Russian donation during the summit, emphasizing the strong ties between the two nations. However, the historical context of the alleged bribery demand adds a layer of complexity to the situation.

The Uralchem Group, through its Head of Special Public Relations Projects, Emin Bayramov, clarified that the fertiliser shipment is part of their collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The company aims to address global hunger and support sustainable agriculture, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goal Number 2.

As the fertilisers make their way to Zimbabwe, facilitated by WFP and UNCTAD-led efforts, the potential bribery scandal from 2019 hangs in the background, prompting calls for transparency and accountability. With Mnangagwa’s spokesperson yet to respond to the historic allegations, the spotlight remains on the intersection of humanitarian aid and political controversy.

We Built Heart Stadium, Claims Mnangagwa

President Mnangagwa has officially commissioned the Heart Stadium in Waterfalls, Harare.

The Head of State commended PHD founder, Prophet Walter Magaya for the state-of-the-art infrastructure.

He said this is testimony of the Second Republic’s mantra, ‘Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo/ Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo’.

President Mnangagwa, who was impressed with the infrastructure, said the development of infrastructure is not the responsibility of Central Government alone.

What Is Drug Addiction?

Source : Fight Against Drug Addiction

  1. Loss of control: The drug user is unable to predict what will happen when he uses the substance. One day he may be able to stop after one drink, or after one line of cocaine; the next day he may not be able to control his use at all.
  2. Compulsive preoccupation: The drug addict spends a great deal of time thinking about the substance he consumes.
  3. Continued use despite negative consequences: If drinking or drug use causes problems but the individual still continues to consume the substancet, the individual is tempting drug addiction or is already addicted. The person has lost voluntary control over the use of that substance.

A nonuser or casual alcohol/drug user may have difficulty understanding why drug addicts dont just stop.

Use and abuse of psychoactive (mood-altering) drugs seem to be voluntary; drug addiction seems to be characterized by involuntary, compulsive use. In most cases, drug addicts dont stop because they are addicted, they just cannot stop on their own.

The drug addict lies to family and friends, things start missing and disappearing around the house.

The dishonesty conveyed is proportionate to the severity of the drug addiction, but these things are all apparent to the person living with a drug addict in their life.

Our experiences show that the drug addict or alcoholic is usually an intelligent and most often creative person with much hope for the future, which only adds to the calamity of their downfall. As the drug addict slips down the drug addiction spiral, their loved ones try to deny the problem exists, sometimes for years. This is a part of the vicious cycle of addiction.

Avoid Mutoriro

Mahere Says She’s Not Leaving Parliament Until CCC Says so, When It’s Already Said So 3 Months Ago

Tshabangu Accepts Another Zanu PF Assignment

By- A group of Zanu PF and self-imposed CCC interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu linked councillors in Bulawayo have hired Tshabangu to recall City’s Mayor David Coltart.

Colart is persecuted for his strong stance against corruption.

These councillors are allegedly unhappy with Coltart’s zero tolerance towards corruption and are now collaborating with Tshabangu to have him removed from office.

Tshabangu, has been recalling Members of Parliament (MPs) and councillors from the party, much to the delight of the ruling Zanu PF party.

The councillors who are seeking Coltart’s recall have allegedly been making various foolish accusations against him, including claims of heavy-handedness and dictatorship. It is believed that they are working in conjunction with ZANU PF to achieve their objective.

ZANU PF councillor Nokuthula Sibanda neither confirmed nor denied the alleged plan to remove Mayor David Coltart. However, she told the Independent that the councillors were dissatisfied with Coltart for not consulting them. Sibanda stated that they would approach Coltart to discuss their concerns. She was quoted as saying:

At first he engaged the Egodini project contractor Terracotta Pvt Ltd alone and after we complained we managed to meet them as councillors.

He also goes on business trips without consulting us. He does not want to go with us for workshops, each time we ask him to do so he always tells us that he is a busy man.

Last time when he went on leave he was supposed to leave the finance chairman acting on his behalf as per council resolution but he chose to appoint councillor Ntombizodwa Khumalo to remain in an acting capacity as a mayor.

Coltart acknowledged that some councillors were unhappy with his leadership style. He explained that the situation had worsened in recent weeks because of his busy schedule and frequent travels. He told the Independent that he had not had a Saturday at home since October 14 and that his wife had also not seen much of him. However, he denied the accusations of not consulting with his fellow councillors. He added:

As regards me not consulting that is not altogether true. Before I went overseas in October I applied in a full council meeting for leave of absence which was granted.

Sources suggest that these councillors are pursuing the interests of a former MDC A MP for Bulawayo who used his position as a councillor to acquire large plots of land and lucrative tenders. Now, they are attempting to shield these questionable acquisitions from scrutiny by the council.

David Coltart, a former Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, was elected as Mayor after the elections in August 2023. However, there are suggestions that Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be the secretary-general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), may try to recall Coltart. There is an account on X formerly Twitter in Tshabangu’s name, but we cannot confirm its authenticity. The account implies that Tshabangu may want to recall Coltart because he believes Coltart was forced on the voters by CCC leader Nelson Chamisa.

Prison Officials Refuse To Release Ngarivhume

Harare Central Prison has refused to release TZ president Jacob Ngarivhume despite his earlier on acquittal by justices Kwenda and Maxwell.

They are saying they have no warranty of liberation for him and so they won’t release him. Ngarivhume will spent another night in prison and the officials are insisting they will keep in behind bars for as long as the court hasn’t issued the warranty.

One officer informed our team that this may be for the next two to three days. Scores of family, friends, supporters and journalists have been waiting to welcome Ngarivhume but to no avail.

Not yet freedom for Ngarivhume!

Tshabangu Urinates On Tsvangirai’s Grave

By- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) self-imposed interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu has attacked the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai, saying he was responsible for destroying the main opposition, MDC.

Tshabangu was speaking on the platform In Conversation with Trevor hosted by Alpha Media Holdings chairman Trevor Ncube (TN).

i
Below are excerpts from the interview.
TN: Sengezo Tshabangu, welcome to In Conversation with Trevor.
ST: My pleasure Uncle Trevor. It is pleasing to be here.
TN: It is a pleasure having you here. In the introduction there, Sengezo Tshabangu, claims to be the interim secretary general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
A number of people are saying you were never elected interim secretary general.
There was never a gathering where you were elected to be the interim secretary general? What do you say to that?
ST: Well, Trevor the issues are before the courts, but I will scratch from the surface. There are so many people who have challenged my authority, challenged my existence, some are even failing to pronounce my name, which is a direct indictment to the people that I represent, to the tribe that I come from.
So yes…
TN: Some are spelling your name with a ‘c-h’?
ST: Yeah with a ‘c-h’. It is unheard of. Yes, there are people who do not know Tshabangu, but these people I have worked with them for years so I think it is a direct attack to the the region, to the people, to the clan where I come from.
So, I do not expect that people that I worked with for so many years can still misspell my name, pronounce it in an unreasonable fashion, it’s an unheard of, but well I will come back to that.
Now, to the point of my appointment, the same process that really appointed president Nelson Chamisa to be the president of the CCC, and also to be the presidential candidate is the same process in which I was elected.
The strategy of ambiguity, so we will discuss these things after the court because they are at the centre of our courts, so it would be unfair for me to really discuss those matters.
TN: So you say you are the interim secretary general as a result of the strategy of ambiguity? Strategic ambiguity as it is?
ST: Absolutely.
TN: Do you want to unpack that? What does that mean?
ST: Well you see we represent the party.
We are an offshoot of the MDC Alliance. I sat in the national council, the national executive, that decided the departure point from the MDC Alliance to the CCC, because there was a challenge that we were going to the elections and Douglas Mwonzora and his team they had taken the name.
So part of the resolutions was that let us have an election strategy, let us form a political party, let us have a new slogan, let us have a different name altogether, different colour.
That is what we agreed.
We were using the constitution of the MDC Alliance, that is what gave birth, that is the paternity process that gave birth to the CCC that we find ourselves in.
But along the way, you realise that that leadership had the likes of Welshman Ncube, had the likes of Tendai Biti, Kore as the deputy, a third deputy president, Amos Chibaya and all you name them.
Along the way the strategy of ambiguity came into play.
We had another CCC, these people, their positions were taken off.
You go to a rally, you would have a president of the party sitting on the floor, you have the president of the party launching the campaign as if he is launching an independent campaign.
There was no organic chemistry of the party working together.
The organs of the party were dissolved.
So there was within the CCC a formation of this structure, which is structureless.
I think it is before the court maybe, but that’s the surface of it.
So, we have this kind of an animal, a creature which you do not even understand the head, the tail of it which is running within the CCC, so that is the strategy of ambiguity that produced the results that we find ourselves in today.
That even failed to even produce candidates that produced the flawed election that produced the result that is still questionable even today.
That produced an incomplete electoral process. So through this strategy…
TN: But some people would say Tshabangu that you are saying the CCC was an offshoot of MDC-A.
And yet some people say No, that it was a completely different organisation.
I think Nelson Chamisa actually pronounced that No this is something completely different, it is not related to MDC.
Am I getting things wrong there?
Although I must admit that what has happened in the past three or so years, in particular the past two years and last six months has totally confused me.
So some of the questions I am asking are genuinely wanting clarification. Was it a new party or is it an offshoot of MDC-A?
ST: We are an offshoot of MDC-A because what gave birth to this new outfit it was the constitution.
We registered the constitution, which we changed and put the CCC but with the same organs that we were using in the MDC Alliance.
So we never came from heaven, we were born by MDC Alliance.
There was MDC-T… I will take you through from when we started this party.
In 1999 there was a convention where we formed the MDC without a name, without people’s face as a symbol, but it was an MDC which comprised of the churches, labour unions. I’m a student of labour.
We are the people who formed the MDC, we are the umbilical cord of the MDC.
We ran with MDC until 2005, where we started to question the leadership of Morgan Tsvangirai the late. May his soul rest in peace.
There was no collective decision process.
We went to the senate in 2005, there was a debate, and that caused the split where the professor Welshman Ncube walked away from the MDC and he remained MDC and then we formed MDC-T to differentiate between us and Welshman Ncube.
So that was the departure point, the first split of the MDC.
We moved on and we had a caveat that we are the MDC-T, we identified ourselves with the leader not with the constitution [or] with the values [and] with the principles where we formed from.
Then in 2014 the same dark cloud that visited us in 2005 visited us again in 2014.
We had Tendai Biti walking away, again forming PDP. Morgan Tsvangirai remained with the MDC-T.
Fast forward, we brought these forces together.
MDC, green, PDP [and] we formed MDC Alliance.
We went to the election in 2018 under the MDC Alliance banner.
We contested the election, the elections did not produce the desired result.
Morgan somehow, he fell ill and he was not in a position to continue with his duties.
He created this mess that we find ourselves in today.
He appointed president Nelson Chamisa and engineer (Elias) Mudzuri into the mainstream of the MDC as the vice-president, we had a vice-president who was elected through a congress which was Dr Thokozani Khupe.
There were fissures there to a certain extent that Thokozani Khupe was almost burnt in a hut in Buhera during the funeral of the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
So that was MDC Alliance, that was the journey.
And there was Douglas Mwonzora who claimed that the MDC Alliance was his and we were [also] MDC Alliance so it was difficult for us because that was the convention of political parties, so there was nothing like MDC Alliance [as] it was a covenant of the political parties coming together.
So we had a problem right?
So given those matrices then we decided that let us form a political party.
We ran an election under MDC Alliance, president Chamisa ran as the presidential candidate of the MDC Alliance, the structures, organic structures from district, provincial to national level, and if you compare the results Mr Trevor in 2018 were quite reasonable figures.
That was when we reached a two million mark that we had never really reached before.
So we formed CCC from MDC Alliance.
So we are an offshoot of MDC Alliance.
So, there is nothing we can say which can disassociate ourselves from MDC Alliance, we are MDC.
It is just a change of name, change of character, a change of colour, change of logo, change of symbol.
That is what defines us from MDC Alliance, our umbilical cord, our DNA, we are MDC.
TN: So you have been alive to these issues all along? I get the sense you actually are deep into it.
ST: Yes.
TN: Why now? Why have you decided to raise these issues now?
ST: Well…
TN: What are you trying to fix now?
ST: We claim that we are an alternative, and the reason why we are in these politics is that there is an agreement that Zanu-PF has deviated from the principles and values of the liberation struggle.
We thought that as an alternative we need to complete the unfinished business of the liberation struggle, but we cannot do that without a constitution.
We cannot do that without a collective a decision-making process. I am coming from labour.
We cannot do that without debating and exhausting these issues.
We cannot do that without having a thorough debate on issues, fundamental issues for that matter.
Be it policy, be it political mantra.
So we find ourselves in a situation that we cannot replace Zanu-PF, we cannot see the errors of Zanu PF, yet we are doing worse than Zanu-PF.
Under Robert Gabriel Mugabe we never witnessed a situation where people can operate without a constitution.
Where people can go into a politburo bureau and Robert Gabriel Mugabe decides without really having this decision discussed at the cabinet.
Even if he had a theory of a policy that he wants to push he would put it in for a discussion and debate it…
TN: But still my question is why now? Why now?
ST: The elections are gone.
TN: Yeah.
ST: Done and dusted.
TN: Yes.
ST: So we rather put our house in order before 2028. We should not wait for 2028 and raise these issues.
Let us raise them now so that we build a force, so that we do the [introspection] and see how the gaps that we can close as a movement and move forward.
Pick ourselves, look at the election, how did we lose the elections?
Are there issues that we are doing right? Are there issues that we are not doing right?
Are we off the path from when we started this movement?
What are those issues and these are the issues that we are raising now so that by the time we get to 2028 we have got an oiled machine which is a movement, which is an alternative which is ready to take the political path.

Fadzayi Mahere Clearly States She’s Not Leaving the Tshabangu-Poisoned Parliament Despite Saying Opposite

Farai D Hove | ANALYSIS | In a notable departure from her fellow party members within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Fadzayi Mahere has unmistakably communicated her unwavering commitment to remain in Parliament, despite escalating public pressure and widespread calls for the CCC to disengage from Mnangagwa’s controversial legislative body.

As the representative for Mt Pleasant in Parliament, Mahere chose X (formerly Twitter) as her platform to articulate the rationale behind her decision. In a clear and resolute statement, she emphasized that a withdrawal by CCC legislators could potentially provide ZANU PF the opportunity to amend the Constitution without constraints, potentially leading to the establishment of a one-party state.

“I can assure you that if the @CCCZimbabwe’s Citizens’ National Assembly resolves that we should withdraw from Parliament, we will,” affirmed Mahere, employing a direct and straightforward communication style to convey her commitment to maintaining a strategic presence within the politically charged environment.

This distinct communication approach sharply contrasts with the sentiments expressed by Darlington Chigumbu, the CCC Member of Parliament for Budiriro. Chigumbu, in a notable departure from Mahere’s stance, expressed his willingness to quit Parliament. He underscored his concern for CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and his intention to shield Chamisa from potential unfounded accusations. Chigumbu’s message, shared on social media, conveyed a clear message that if the electorate expresses anger for parliamentary proceedings, it should be directed towards the MPs, not the president.

The unfolding internal dynamics within the CCC reveal a stark contrast in communication styles, with Mahere’s direct and assertive messaging standing out. While she contends that her continued presence in Parliament serves as a strategic tool to prevent unwarranted constitutional amendments, her communication strategy underscores a clear and unwavering commitment.

Amid discussions within the CCC on whether to remain in or withdraw from Mnangagwa’s parliament, Mahere’s communication technique stands as a notable aspect of the broader discourse. Her clear and direct messages contribute to the ongoing reflection on the role of parliamentary influence and the resilience of opposition figures within Zimbabwe’s complex political landscape. The clarity in Mahere’s communication style raises important questions about the party’s unified strategy and the firmness of her stance against ZANU PF’s unchecked authority.

Zanu PF Kills Key National Institutions

The regime in Harare continues to abuse courts.

Zanu PF fears the upcoming by-elections they unlawfully created.

They know they can’t win fair elections in Zimbabwe, hence their attempt to remove our candidates from the ballot. Zanu PF has destroyed every institution in our country. We must restore majority rule and legitimacy.

Their actions confirm the August elections were fraudulent.

We need an inclusive political settlement to end this. #CitizensPower

Effects Of Crystal Meth Mutoriro

Citizens Ready To Take On Emmerson Mnangagwa

Our existence as a party is a direct outcome of the support from the citizens.

Over 2 million people voted for CCC and its leader, President Nelson Chamisa in the August sham elections. The battle lines have been clearly drawn.

The actions of the court officials who contributed to the demise of democracy in Zimbabwe will be recorded in the country’s history. We are emerging stronger than ever.

Citizens, prepare yourselves for the forthcoming EVENTS.

Zivhu Tears Into Tshabangu

Tinashe Sambiri

Former Zanu PF MP for Chivi South Constituency, Killer Zivhu, has described Zimbabwe’s ex – Information Minister Jonathan Moyo as a political turncoat.

Zivhu also blasted Sengezo Tshabangu for compromising the alternative.

Zivhu wrote on X…

High Court Ends Ngarivhume Detention

High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda has ended the detention of opposition leaders Jacob Ngarivhume after setting aside both conviction and sentence.

In his ruling, Justice Kwenda said the state failed to prove a link between Ngarivhume and the Twitter account that was used as the basis to jail him.

Madhadha Liquor Store faces arrest, defies Court order

Harare – POPULAR watering hole Madhadha Liquor Store propieter faces arrest following wanton disregard of the law and acting in complete negation of a standing eviction order.

The High Court ordered Madhadha to move its operations from Central Avenue, after several complaints from residents and business owners located in the vicinity of the joint.

The court noted that Madhadha’s operations were affecting the smooth flow of health delivery system since its located next to a vibrant medical facility.

However, weeks on, Madhadha is still operating from the same spot without a hinderance.

In undercover interviews conducted by this publication, shopkeepers gushed over their employer’s power to defy a court order.

“Hatibve zvekumhanya panapa tinotorema boss vedu zvinhu,” one shop attendant said.

While another dismissed assertions that they were interrupting medical processes next door.

“Vaida tibve tiendepi asi, hatina kana zvatinombokanganisa tongoita life yedu panapa isu.”

But in a survey over the past weekends, Madhadha operations are indeed interfering with next door medical facilities as imbibers are often seen urinating on surrounding trees, which culminates into a bad stench the following morning.

It’s against this background that one medical facity owner Innocent Zimbwa sought court intervention.

Chin’ono tears into CCC legislators

Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has reiterated his call for the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to withdraw from Parliament. He stated that they will only make empty noise in parliament as they are unable to stop the ruling ZANU PF party from making decisions due to their majority.

Chin’ono argues that staying would give legitimacy to ZANU PF’s corrupt rule. Fadzayi Mahere, a prominent CCC member, responded by saying that if instructed by the Citizens’ National Assembly, the party’s legislators would withdraw from parliament. However, Mahere highlighted the potential consequences of withdrawal, such as ZANU PF amending the constitution and creating a one-party state. She also questioned the effectiveness of parliamentary committees and the lack of citizen input in legislation.

Chin’ono remains unconvinced of the opposition’s usefulness in parliament. In a post, the journalist said:

It makes a lot of sense for ZANUPF to want CCC to stay in parliament because an immediate CCC mass withdrawal from parliament will create a massive international political crisis of legitimacy and credibility for ZANUPF and the regime. It will affect reengagement sideshows and international financial debt relief talks. It will also bring back the issue of the sham election on the table, something that ZANUPF has successfully hidden through the Tshabangu fraud by putting CCC in survival mode. Mnangagwa and ZANUPF know that they will immediately become Southern Africa’s North Korea if CCC pulls out! Imagine a parliament with just ZANUPF MPs and a few Tshabangu MPs. ZANUPF is going to bribe anyone who can influence CCC to stay in parliament because it knows that CCC won’t be able to stop anything on the ZANUPF parliamentary agenda now that it has Two-Thirds majority. CCC will be going to parliament just to make empty noises, that is why CCC is needed in parliament by the regime to create a facade of democracy.

Chin’ono further expressed his belief that countries whose ambassadors have close ties with ZANU PF will persuade the CCC to remain in parliament. He said these countries and their governments would not want to engage with a pariah state without opposition in parliament. They would want to show success back home, so they would encourage the CCC to stay.

In addition to foreign nations’ influence, Chin’ono believes that the CCC will face difficulties from MPs who are primarily motivated by salary, perks, and personal gain, including those using parliament as a stepping stone for international jobs. He argues that few politicians in Zimbabwe’s opposition are genuinely committed to the struggle, and many are more interested in personal opportunities.

Voter apathy characterise by-elections

Zimbabwe held special elections on Saturday for nine seats in Parliament after opposition lawmakers were removed from their positions and disqualified from running again.

The opposition called it an illegal push by the ruling Zanu-PF party to bolster its parliamentary majority and possibly change the constitution.

This may allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa, 81, who was re-elected for a second and final term in August amid international and regional criticism, to run for another term.

All nine opposition lawmakers from the Citizens Coalition for Change party that were removed were elected in the national vote in August.

But an official claiming to be the secretary-general of the party recalled them from their positions in the weeks after that election.

CCC leader Nelson Chamisa said the official, Sengezo Tshabangu, held no position with the party and his instructions should be ignored.

But Zimbabwean courts recognized Tshabangu’s authority, ruled to remove the opposition MPs and declared them on Thursday ineligible to run.

“This is not an election. This is not democracy,” opposition deputy spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba told The Associated Press.

Another late-night court ruling Friday left the ZANU-PF candidate set to win one of the seats in the capital, Harare, uncontested.

The CCC said on the eve of the special elections that it had launched an appeal with the Supreme Court, demanding that eight of its candidates appear on the ballots.

It didn’t list a name for the Harare seat.

The main opposition party said the removal of its lawmakers is a brazen attempt by the ruling party to increase its control in Parliament and has accused Zanu-PF, which has been in power since the southern African country’s independence in 1980, of using the courts to help it do that.

The CCC said ZANU-PF was using Tshabangu and the courts to “decimate” the opposition.

“The battle lines have been clearly drawn,” the CCC said Saturday in a statement on social media site X.

“The actions of the court officials who contributed to the demise of democracy in Zimbabwe will be recorded in the country’s history.”

Zanu-PF won 177 out of 280 parliamentary seats in the national election but needs another 10 seats to gain the two-thirds majority it requires to change the constitution.

That would allow it to remove term limits for presidents, among other things.

Saturday’s special elections are just the start.

Tshabangu has recalled dozens more opposition lawmakers, local councilors and mayors. More elections are due in the coming months.

Rights groups Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have said Zanu-PF is using institutions like the courts and the police force to suppress opposition and criticism.

The U.S. State Department said last week in the run-up to the special elections that it was placing visa restrictions on Zimbabwean individuals “believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining democracy in Zimbabwe.”

It said they had been involved in “excluding members of the political opposition from electoral processes,” but didn’t name anyone.

Zanu-PF has denied any links to Tshabangu and his recall of opposition lawmakers, calling it an internal squabble in the CCC. The ruling party’s spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said Zanu-PF is not responsible for the “chaos and disorder” within the opposition.

Mnangagwa’s term is due to end in 2028 and some within his party have called for him to remain past the current two-term limit.

He came to power in 2017 following a coup that removed autocrat Robert Mugabe, who was Zimbabwe’s leader for 37 years.

Teen fundraises for children with cancer

A 17 year old teenager from Harare has started a Save A Child organization which seeks to assist children suffering from cancer.

President of the organisation Shaun Chiworeso said the Save a Child programme started in September and is a registered organization.

He noted that it has been self-sponsored ever since it started, and they can’t exclude other individuals who have been assisting us financially through donations.

“Save a child does not have any physical branches but we are connected online, it has recruited young people from all around Zimbabwe from Harare, Bulawayo, Masvingo and Gweru, we work online,” Chiworeso said.

He said there is a total number of about 85 members in the programme, it has a team that distributes goods around the country, and through their interactions, they come across patients.

Tshabangu shifts blame to the late Tsvangirai

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu says the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s appointment of two vice presidents before his death is to blame for the chaos engulfing the opposition.

Tshabangu (ST), who has become infamous for recalling CCC elected representatives while claiming that they were no longer members of the party, made the claims on the platform In Conversation with Trevor hosted by Alpha Media Holdings chairman Trevor Ncube (TN).

He was trying to make a link between CCC and MDC Alliance, which he claims birthed the Nelson Chamisa-led party.

NERA Succesfully Holds Second Meeting, Push For Electoral Reforms Back On Track

Harare, Zimbabwe – NERA is delighted to announce that the second (2nd) NERA meeting was successfully held today, on the 8th of December 2023.

This well-attended meeting saw the participation of various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Political parties, in accordance with the prescribed hierarchy outlined by NERA administration.

Notable political parties in attendance included MDC, PDP, ZIPP, FORUS Party, UD-PPZ, LEAD, among others. Additionally, CSOs, Labour, CSU, ZCTU, Heal Zimbabwe, women’s groups, and students were present.

Under the able leadership of Chairman Eng. Mugari, the meeting progressed smoothly.

Following the introductions, a productive planning session took place, wherein the demands for electoral reforms were outlined. Notably, the independence of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) was identified as a key priority.

Furthermore, the political parties’ youth representatives advocated for the inclusion of maximum age limits for presidential candidates and lowering the age for youth candidacy.

The discussions culminated in a unified call for electoral reforms, recognizing that such reforms not only benefit participating political parties but also contribute to economic growth.

The participation of all stakeholders in the ZEC processes was emphasized as paramount. It was acknowledged that the ongoing political discourse within parties in Parliament should not result in voters’ suffering.

The loss of energy from votes cast for leaders of voters’ choice due to recalls by a single individual is detrimental to both the country and the citizens’ right to choose their preferred leaders.

Therefore, a revisitation of the electoral laws is imperative, with a particular focus on enshrining a clause to protect the voters’ voice.

NERA wholeheartedly urges other political parties and their principals to follow suit, as it is crucial to collectively push for electoral reforms at the earliest opportunity.

We eagerly anticipate more political parties and civic societies coming forward to offer their venues for hosting future meetings.

It was agreed among the attendees that a Principals meeting will take place on the 18th of January 2024.

This meeting will be dedicated to the signing of NERA documents, affirming our commitment to working together in the pursuit of electoral reforms.

During today’s meeting, the Secretary Generals of political parties expressed their admiration and support for initiating much-needed electoral reforms, mirroring the aspirations of the past. Civic societies also pledged their unwavering support to ensure free, fair, safe, and credible elections in Zimbabwe.

In his closing remarks, NERA Chairman Eng. Mugari extended an invitation to other stakeholders, including churches, citizens, and corporates, to join hands in supporting the agenda for national economic growth.

Former Zanu PF MP hauled to court for fraud

By A Correspondent- Former Kambuzuma Member of Parliament Tinashe Maduza of Zanu-PF appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa on Friday facing fraud charges.

Maduza (35) and his accomplice Rasta Phiri (48) were remanded in custody to December 12 for bail application.

The complainant is Victor Magenga (38).

Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje said sometime in 2014, Maduza  and his co-accused invaded some open space in Harare’s Warren Park and started illegally selling stands for residential purposes as a private entity called Gracelands Housing Co-operative with more than 300 beneficiaries.

Sometime in October 2019, they sold a piece of un-serviced land to Magenga for US$6 000.

They failed to fulfil their promise to service the stand, and Magenga became suspicious as the duo was evasive.

Magenga later discovered that the duo did not own the land in question and made a police report, leading to their arrest.

Mnangagwa Spends Sunday Celebrating Walter Magaya’s High School Stadium

Walter Magaya with Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Farai D Hove | Harare, [10 Dec 2023] – Emmerson Mnangagwa on Sunday morning arrived at the infamous Yadah Hotel premises in Harare, home to Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) ministries founder Walter Magaya’s controversial “Heart Stadium,” built from fraud money. The opening ceremony, intended to mark a new chapter in the preacher’s ministry, is overshadowed by persistent allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse against Magaya.

Yadah Hotel, linked to numerous complaints regarding the grooming of young women for sexual exploitation, has been under scrutiny, with Magaya himself acknowledging these activities in a police video recording. Even Defense Minister Oppah Muchinguri’s family has been named, yet President Mnangagwa remains silent on the matter despite the controversies reaching international attention, including the United Nations.

The premises were built using some of the money the preacher scamed investors a few who have been refunded after complaints.

The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) reignited investigations last year into the sexual abuse allegations surrounding Magaya. In October 2022, the ZGC announced the resumption of inquiries, inviting submissions from victims of sexual exploitation by the controversial cleric. The investigations had initially received a legal setback in 2019 when the alleged victim withdrew charges against Magaya.

ZGC’s statement read, “The Zimbabwe Gender Commission wishes to advise members of the public that the investigation of the allegations of Sexual Exploitation and abuse of women levelled against Prophet Walter Magaya…has recommenced. We are happy that the courts have given legal judgments…which have paved the way for the continuation of our processes.”

Magaya is accused of raping a female congregant in August 2015, subsequently forcing her to terminate her pregnancy and allegedly silencing her with a $100,000 payout. Despite the victim withdrawing charges, the legal battle continued, with Magaya challenging the prosecution’s legality.

The High Court initially dismissed Magaya’s application, prompting him to seek recourse in the Supreme Court. ZGC was then granted the authority to resume investigations against the preacher, emphasizing the importance of victims coming forward to share their experiences of sexual exploitation and abuse within the denomination.

As President Mnangagwa inaugurates Magaya’s “Heart Stadium,” the cloud of controversy surrounding the preacher’s alleged misconduct looms large, raising questions about the government’s stance on these serious allegations and the impact on the credibility of religious figures in the country.

Zanu-PF Wins Against Sengezo

The ruling Zanu-PF party secured a significant victory in the weekend’s by-elections, winning six out of eight National Assembly seats in Bulawayo, Binga, Lupane, and Beitbridge. However, the triumph is marred by allegations of strategic recalls and the emergence of a non existent opposition Sengezp Tshabangu aligned Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) party.

Zanu-PF’s success is attributed to the orchestrated recall of members from Nelson Chamisa’s CCC, leading to the formation of a parallel faction named CCC-Sengezo-Tshabangu. The ruling party capitalized on the opposition’s internal strife, accusing the CCC-Sengezo-Tshabangu faction of being a “fake institution” led by the disgraced Sengezo Tshabangu.

Despite the controversy, the ruling party deployed senior members for an aggressive campaign in the run-up to the by-elections. The polls addressed vacancies in eight constituencies following the recall of MPs by Sengezo Tshabangu, the party’s interim secretary-general. Zanu-PF candidate Pedzai Sakupwanya secured an uncontested victory in Mavuku-Tafara Constituency after the High Court nullified the CCC-Sengezo-Tshabangu candidate Kufahakutizwi Febion Munyaradzi’s nomination.

The opposition CCC-Sengezo-Tshabangu recalled 15 legislators from Parliament, contributing to Zanu-PF’s electoral gains. Low voter turnout in some constituencies and wards was noted, with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission attributing this to the typical trend in by-elections.

Zanu-PF celebrated reclaiming seats previously won by CCC-Sengezo-Tshabangu in the August harmonized elections. Notable victories include Phathisiwe Machangu in Lupane East, Muchimba Chineka in Binga North, and Thusani Ndou in Beitbridge West. Former Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Raj Modi regained the Bulawayo South constituency.

Despite the controversy surrounding the elections, Zanu-PF’s political commissar Mike Bimha expressed confidence, stating that the electoral victory demonstrates public appreciation for the government’s work. He anticipated further success in the upcoming February by-elections, attributing the victory to the party’s organizational structures.

Zanu-PF Secretary-General Dr. Obert Mpofu praised party supporters, claiming Zanu-PF as the only party capable of addressing developmental issues, while opposition parties, particularly CCC-Sengezo-Tshabangu, were labeled as mere spoilers. Dr. Mpofu asserted that attempts to dislodge Zanu-PF have left the opposition in disarray and chaos.

Albert Mavunga, the Nketa constituency winner, expressed elation and acknowledged leveraging the opposition’s chaos in Parliament for a winning message. He pledged to represent the people effectively, emphasizing the need for leaders who enact transformative laws.

As Zanu-PF celebrates its by-election victories, the political landscape remains fraught with controversy and opposition discord, setting the stage for a dynamic and unpredictable political future.- Agencies

Zim Now A Banana Republic

Tinashe Sambiri

Last week, the public’s attention was captivated by two Masvingo women, Nyasha Chabika, believed to be a Pastor’s daughter, and Flora Tofa, as they surfaced in a video depicting a private moment. Today, (December 4, 2023) they stood before Masvingo magistrate Elizabeth Hanzie and were granted bail of ZWL$100,000 each, facing charges related to the violation of section 13 (1) of the Censorship and Entertainment Control Act, Chapter 10:04

Allegedly, in June 2023, during a birthday celebration at the late Simba Langton Madima’s Morningside residence, the two 24-year-olds retreated to a room where they engaged in an oral sexual act, recorded by Tofa. The controversial video was then reportedly shared by the two on social media on November 27, 2023.

Their next court appearance is set for December 18, where a trial date will be determined, with state prosecutor Godknows Mugondo leading the case.

What Are The Characteristics of Drug Addiction?

Prof Moyo tears into Coltart

The Mayor of Bulawayo and prominent member of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), David Coltart, found himself at the center of a political storm after urging voters to support ZAPU candidates in the upcoming by-elections. The move drew sharp criticism from former Cabinet Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo, who accused Coltart of illegal campaigning on election day.

Coltart took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration after CCC MPs were allegedly barred from contesting in the December 9 by-election. He tweeted, “Now that our 5 MP candidates in Bulawayo have been unlawfully barred from standing for election, I urge citizens to vote where possible for @ZapuPublicity ZAPU MP candidates. ZAPU is a democratic party and they will serve our interests much better than Zanu PF or pseudo Zanu PF candidates.”

The tweet immediately caught the attention of Professor Jonathan Moyo, who responded with a scathing rebuke. Moyo accused Coltart of knowingly engaging in illegal campaign activities, highlighting Coltart’s legal background and extensive political experience.

“AND HERE YOU ARE CAMPAIGNING ON ELECTION DAY. It’s illegal, you know it; not least because you are a lawyer and a politician who has contested in many elections before,” Moyo remarked.

Moyo went on to criticize Coltart for what he perceived as a blatant disregard for the law, accusing him of considering himself above the rules. “Shame on you, David Coltart. You can say and scream all you want, with all the support of Chamisa’s trolls, but you and your lot are an embarrassment and a danger to society BECAUSE you never ever play by the rules; no, you are always a law unto yourselves.”

The former Cabinet Minister also took the opportunity to highlight what he characterized as Coltart’s history of bending the rules to suit his own interests. Moyo referenced a past incident where Coltart allegedly claimed victory in a community candidate selection caucus despite finishing last among all candidates. Moyo asserted that Coltart’s actions epitomized a dangerous mindset contributing to the current state of Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwe is in a mess because of your type: one law for yourselves, as the self-proclaimed demo,” Moyo’s response abruptly ended, leaving room for speculation on the continuation of his thoughts.

David Coltart later deleted the tweet on X.

The exchange between Coltart and Moyo has ignited a debate on the role of politicians in adhering to election laws and whether advocating for alternative candidates on election day is a violation of electoral norms.

Zanu PF hardliners tell Chamisa to humble himself before ED

Zanu-PF says opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa must humble himself and congratulate President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his re-election in the August disputed elections before the two can engage in talks to end the current stalemate.

Chamisa has refused to accept election defeat citing vote fraud in the polls that were discredited by observer missions, including the one from the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) as not credible. Observer missions cited a number of electoral irregularities including the intimidation of opposition voters by the shadowy Zanu-PF affiliate, Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (Faz).

In their reports, the observer missions said the elections fell short of local, regional and international standards on the holding of free and fair elections. Chamisa has hinted at engaging Mnangagwa to solve the political question resulting from the disputed elections and recently sent emissaries to Zanu-PF leader’s office.

Zanu-PF hardliners, have however, shut the door on him.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Harare on Monday, Zanu-PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said the ruling party was open to talks but only after Chamisa acknowledged Mnangagwa’s victory.

“The starting point is that can Chamisa send a word to the President saying ‘congratulations you won the 2023 August elections,” Mutsvangwa said.

“Those magic words would reopen a lot of vistas. The opposition Members of Parliament [MPs] have already done it and that is why they are in Mt Hampden (Parliament). If his MPs can accept he should also accept.”

CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi, however, said the party was not interested in endorsing Mnangagwa’s disputed victory.

“How can president Chamisa send a congratulatory message over a disputed election?,” Mkwananzi asked NewsDay in an interview yesterday.

“All election observer missions including Sadc and even the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission condemned the electoral process.

“The dialogue we seek is not about endorsing Mr Mnangagwa, they are about political reforms and a shared vision and destiny for Zimbabwe.”

Political analyst Vivid Gwede said Zanu-PF was trying to set difficult conditions for dialogue

“CCC is calling for dialogue because, among other things, it believes the election was flawed. A congratulatory message will thus contradict this basis for dialogue,” Gwede said.

“For dialogue to happen, these obstacles need to be cleared. If there is political will, parties should dialogue without difficult preconditions so that all contentious issues can be on the table.”

Mutsvangwa said Zanu-PF was genuine in having a conversation with a “structured” CCC.

“If they want they can invite us because we are ardent party builders by nature. Maybe they can come and we learn from each other,” he said.

“There is total confusion there and we don’t cherish it because we would rather prefer organised and structured opposition for the progress of the party.

“This is a genuine sentiment from Zanu-PF and our President.”

Mutsvangwa was referring to the infighting in the CCC following the recall of the party’s MPs and councillors by self-imposed interim secretary-general, Sengezo Tshabangu.

Zimbabwe will hold by-elections on Saturday to fill vacant posts triggered by the recalls.

Tshabangu has been dismissed as a Zanu-PF proxy, but the ruling party has disowned him.

“We have absolutely nothing to gain as a party and everything to lose by the fights which are in the CCC,” Mutsvangwa said.

“So do not try to say that we have an attitude of trying to disorganise the opposition for our own gain. These are home-grown problems which are being thrust upon Zanu-PF.”

Mutsvangwa also said Zanu-PF was not interested in changing the national Constitution to give Mnangagwa a third term.

“We have no intention of changing the Constitution; we have no intentions about a third term for this or that,” he said.

Section 91 of the Zimbabwean Constitution states that the President must serve a maximum of two terms.

Mnangagwa is currently serving his second term and will not be eligible to contest in the 2028 general election unless the Constitution is amended.

Mnangagwa and his ruling party have, however, been accused of engineering the recalls to push for a two thirds majority in Parliament to make it easy to amend the Constitution.

“If CCC wins……”

An ex-Zipra war veteran Max Mkandla has warned that if Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa were to win the presidential elections his rule would be overthrown by a mere army corporal considering the easy way in which the self-imposed interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu has disturbilised his party with ease.

Tshabangu has since recalled 22 legislators and councillors whom he has also sought high court order deterring them from ever contesting the by-elections set for December 9.

Mkandla said what is on the ground on the issue of CCC is that the party wasted a loot of time due to too much academic approach.

He said they are using bookish type of politics adding that even at a burial society one must fight for the position.

“If you look at these people. its revolutionary versus academic. Zanu PF is using revolutionary approach. They grab all chances that come their way. As it is they capitalise on that and they will all seats in Bulawayo. If this Tshabangu continues recalling, that means the entire CCC MPs and councilors will lose their seats,” Mkandla said.

He said the game of CCC must change and strategy must change.

He also said there was no need for Chamisa to lead the party alone. He said Chamisa should have registered the party as an independent movement than to claim that its a political party.

He said cluster structures that CCC has claimed to be having do not make sense in a political party but work in a company.

Mkandla said Tshabangu has taken advantage of that to destroy them and they even fail to block him.

“If they can not contain a person like Tshabangu, what more of a government? Even a sergeant or corporal can go for a coup and take government control and you will hear that a corporal or sergeant has taken government control, he is so weak,” Mkandla said.

“He must have good advisors.”

Woman hauled for court for assault

In a dramatic courtroom session on Thursday afternoon, 19-year-old Debra Munsaka from Tinde area under Chief Pashu in Binga pleaded guilty to charges of assault and malicious damage to property before Hwange Magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Yolanda Kabasa.

According to prosecutors, the incident unfolded on November 29 when Munsaka, armed with a kitchen knife, went to Ntombebandla Moyo’s residence in Susumbe Village, Tinde, searching for her. Upon learning that Moyo was still at school in Tinde, Munsaka returned the next day and confronted Moyo at the Tinde dip-tank, en route to a soccer tournament at Tinde Primary School.

The court heard that Munsaka questioned Moyo about rumors circulating regarding a suspected love affair between Moyo and Munsaka’s husband, Justice Mhlanga. Tensions escalated as Moyo denied any knowledge of the allegations.

The situation took a violent turn when Munsaka, in a fit of anger, began assaulting Moyo all over her body, using a stick several times. Amid the attack, Moyo’s cell phone, valued at ZWL$250000, was smashed. A passerby eventually intervened, rescuing Moyo from further harm.

Subsequently, Moyo filed a report of assault and malicious damage to property with the ZRP Tinde Police Base, leading to an investigation that resulted in Munsaka’s arrest.

During the trial, Hwange Magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Yolanda Kabasa found Munsaka guilty on both charges. She sentenced Munsaka to six months imprisonment for assault, wholly suspended for five years, and three months imprisonment for malicious damage to property, with one month suspended for five years. Additionally, Munsaka was ordered to restitute Moyo the sum of ZWL$250000 by January 9, representing the cost of the damaged cell phone.

The case highlights the consequences of jealousy and how it can escalate into violent confrontations, emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means rather than resorting to aggression.

Breaking- Paul Matavire’s Father Passes Away at 101

By Showbiz Reporter | In a somber announcement today, Hamlet Matavire revealed that his grandfather, the esteemed father of the late singing legend Paul Matavire, has peacefully passed away at the age of 101.

The elder Matavire, renowned for penning the iconic phrase “Nhaiwe mwanangu Paurosi, wodyiroko?”, was not only a patriarch to the Matavire family but also a significant contributor to Zimbabwe’s musical legacy.

In an emotional statement, Hamlet Matavire expressed his grief, saying, “Yes, this is Paul Matavire’s father. This is the man who brought to the world the jewel of entertaining music in Zimbabwe.”

The legacy left by Paul Matavire’s father extends beyond his familial ties, resonating with the broader community that cherished his contributions to the country’s cultural tapestry.

“Rest in peace sekuru! You have lived,” Hamlet Matavire concluded, honoring the life and influence of the late patriarch. The nation mourns the loss of a cultural icon and extends condolences to the Matavire family during this difficult time.

Tshabangu Celebrates Zanu PF Victory

By- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) self-imposed interim secretary general Mr Sengezo Tshabangu has said the party will accept the outcome of the by-elections as to the CCC, what was key was seeing democracy at play.

So far, Zanu PF has grabbed three seats, which Nelson Chamisa’s aides won.

Tshabangu told the state media that elections were part of a democratic process which needed to be embraced and acknowledged, especially when the process was conducted in a free and fair set up without anyone being intimidated and coerced into participating.
“To us any outcome will be accepted although everyone knows that when you go into any contest, the objective is to win but also everyone knows that in this political game, it’s either you win or lose and you must be prepared to accept especially the losing part. It’s all part of democracy,” said Mr Tshabangu in an interview last night.
He said a free a fair election whose outcome was accepted by all participants was all what those who got into the struggle before them always wanted.
“These by-elections presented an opportunity for a democracy foundation as we look forward to 2028. We are of course concerned about the reported voter apathy because we know that any voter apathy has always benefited Zanu-PF,” said Mr Tshabangu.

Tshabangu caused tremors within the Zimbabwe body politic when he went on a recalling tirade after the August harmonised elections, which he said were necessitated by how his party conducted it’s selection process for the August 23 elections candidates.

Part time worker r_apes minor, offers R100 to silence her

By A Correspondent- A Plumtree man, Mthokozisi Ndebele, is facing legal trouble after being accused of raping a Grade Two pupil at a homestead where he was employed for part-time work.

Ndebele was brought before the Plumtree Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with two counts of rape. During the court appearance before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, Ndebele was not required to enter a plea.

The court remanded Ndebele in custody until December 12, and he was advised to seek bail from the High Court.

According to Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, the alleged incidents occurred in October. Ndebele had visited a homestead where the young victim resided, seeking part-time employment. He was assigned the task of fetching firewood. However, on his way, he reportedly dragged the girl into the bush, where he sexually assaulted her. To keep her quiet, he allegedly gave her 100 rands.

This modus operandi was repeated on November 16, and this time the victim confided in her grandmother about the offense. Subsequently, a police report was filed, leading to Ndebele’s arrest.

The case has now been brought before the courts, where Ndebele is facing charges of rape. The court process will continue, with Ndebele set to apply for bail at the High Court.

Bulawayo Citizens Boycott Tshabangu By-Elections

By James Gwati- Poor voter turnout has hit a series of by-elections orchestrated by CCC impostor Sengezo Tshabangu, with Zanu PF successfully clinching three parliamentary seats, further fueling suspicions of collaboration between Tshabangu and the ruling party to weaken the opposition.

The constituencies of Mabvuku-Tafara, Cowdray Park, and Bulawayo South have all fallen into Zanu PF’s hands, a result of the Nelson Chamisa supporters’ widespread boycott of the by-elections.

Tshabangu Friday donated Mabvuku-Tafara seat to Zanu PF’s Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya.

In Cowdray Park, Zanu PF’s Mujeyi Arthur secured victory with 1,765 votes, defeating Tshabangu’s Vusimuzi Chirwa.

The voter turnout was notably low, with less than 4,000 people casting their votes out of over 20,000 registered voters.

Similarly, in the Bulawayo South Constituency, Zanu PF’s Rajeshkumari Modi emerged victorious with 1,608 votes, dealing a blow to Tshabangu’s candidate Sithole James, while the voter turnout remained disappointingly low.

These by-elections were prompted by Tshabangu’s recall of CCC Members of Parliament (MPs), claiming they were no longer party members.

The CCC has expressed concerns that Tshabangu’s actions may be part of a collaboration with the ruling party, aimed at securing a two-thirds majority in Parliament.

Such a majority would potentially pave the way for smoother amendments to the Constitution, raising questions about the integrity of the democratic process.

Mnangagwa Inaugurates Magaya’s Notorious Bedroom “Hotel Stadium” Despite Explosive Police Evidence of Wrongdoing

Tshabangu Donates Two More Seats To Zanu PF

By James Gwati- Self-imposed CCC Interim Secretary General Tshabangu has handed over three parliamentary seats to Zanu PF in a by-election he triggered.

The latest additions to Zanu PF’s portfolio are Cowdray Park and Bulawayo South, clinched by Zanu PF’s Mujeyi Arthur and Rajeshkumari Modi, respectively. Notably, these victories were secured as supporters of Nelson Chamisa boycotted the by-elections.

On Friday, he donated the Mabvuku-Tafara seat, previously held by CCC, to Zanu PF’s Scott Sakupwanya of the Goldmaffia scandal.

The backdrop for these by-elections was the recall of CCC Members of Parliament (MPs) by Tshabangu, who asserted that they were no longer party members. However, concerns have been raised within the CCC, suggesting that Tshabangu may collaborate with the ruling Zanu PF to secure a two-thirds majority in Parliament. Such a majority could facilitate smoother amendments to the Constitution, raising eyebrows about the motives behind these political manoeuvres.

Man hauled to court over assault

By A Correspondent- A 30 year old man from Chasamba Village under Chief Pashu in Binga, Givemore Munsaka, appeared before Hwange Magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Yolanda Kabasa on Tuesday morning, pleading guilty to charges of assault in a case stemming from a family conflict.

According to State papers, the incident unfolded on November 6 when a dispute erupted between Mandlenkosi Ngwenya, the complainant, and Munsaka’s young brother, Last Mumpande, at Chasamba Shopping Centre. The disagreement escalated to the point where Ngwenya bit Last Mumpande on the finger.

Upon hearing about the incident, Last Mumpande reported the matter to his elder brother, Givemore Munsaka. Seeking retribution, Munsaka confronted Ngwenya and unleashed a violent assault. Reports indicate that Munsaka used open fists to strike Ngwenya multiple times across his body and, finally, resorted to using a brick to hit him on his back.

The incident was reported to ZRP Kamativi, leading to ongoing investigations to apprehend Munsaka. During the court proceedings, Hwange Magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Yolanda Kabasa found Munsaka guilty as charged.

As a penalty for his actions, Munsaka has been ordered to pay a fine of USD$50 by December 29. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a two-month imprisonment for the convicted assaulter.

The case underscores the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful means, highlighting the potential consequences of resorting to violence in personal disputes. Authorities encourage community members to seek mediation and legal avenues to address grievances rather than taking matters into their own hands.

Latest On Masvingo Women Who Licked Each Other’s Private Parts

Source : TellZim

CCC Punishes Mnangagwa By Boycotting the Tshabangu-Bi-Elections

By Farai D Hove | The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has wielded its political influence to punish ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa by strategically boycotting the bi-elections initiated by the self-proclaimed representative, Mr. Sengezo Tshabangu. Tshabangu falsely claimed to speak on behalf of the Nelson Chamisa-led CCC, leading to a contentious electoral process.

The aftermath of the boycott unfolded with the controversial ascension of GoldMafia implicated Scott Sakupwanya, who secured a parliamentary seat. This victory, however, was marred by the exclusion of the legitimate winner of the 2023 elections, highlighting the disruptive consequences of the CCC’s protest.

The intricacies of this political maneuver were exposed when Simba Chikanza revealed operations involving Sakupwanya and Tshabangu between November and December. This revelation added another layer of controversy to the situation, exposing the questionable tactics employed by these individuals.

Former Norton MP Temba Mliswa criticized CCC’s decision, stating, “CCC has resolved to boycott today’s elections, but the unfortunate thing about our politics is that results will still stand. This wasn’t a strategically opportune time for that as CCC is already at its weakest. The boycott is more a pliant bow than a strategic retreat.”

Despite the mounting criticism, CCC remained silent, offering no official response to Mliswa’s remarks or the revelations brought forth by Chikanza. The lack of comment further intensified the uncertainty surrounding the party’s motives and the efficacy of its chosen course of action. The political landscape in the wake of these events is fraught with controversy, casting a shadow over the legitimacy of the electoral process and the actors involved.

We Wanted To Sign Vini Jr At Sundowns – Pitso Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane has revealed how he missed signing Liverpool’s Luis Diaz during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The South African Premier Soccer League giants have scouts spread across the world, particularly in South America, where the likes of Ali Meza, Mauricio Affonso, Ricardo Nascimento, and Gaston Sirino were identified.

According to Pitso, another star in Diaz was also on his way to Sundowns but the club missed out on the eleventh hour.

In an interview with with DJ Sabby of Metro FM, as cited by Kick-off.com, the gaffer explained how Sundowns missed out on signing the Colombian, who then moved to Portugal to join Porto.

Pitso revealed: “I found all the South Americans in South America. I was going there, breaking them [away from their clubs], bringing them to Sundowns. I did it myself, don’t listen to anybody.

“If you want to do something, you’ll make time.

“You know Luis Diaz, the guy who is playing for Liverpool on the left? I nearly bought him for Sundowns. I’m not lying! He was in Colombia.”

The gaffer added: “We’ve looked at a lot of players, including Vinicius Jr. I don’t want to lie to you.”
