Guard Alert Owner in Racism Storm… Beats Up And Calls Employee Baboon

By A Correspondent| In a development akin to the colonial era, a security guard from Guard Alert company was allegedly racially abused by tho owner of the reputable security firm.

Narrating his ordeal, the 47 year old Trymore Mutauto said what seemed to be a normal routine turned out to be a nightmare for him early this year.

“So I was manning the gate at the company’s headquarters when my boss Robert Richardson turned up for work and as usual I saluted him as required of my duties.

” However, I was taken aback when he started insulting me that I had not properly saluted him. What really angered me is that he called me a baboon, a racial term associated with the colonial era,” narrated a distressed Mutauto.

The Guard Alert owner went on to  hard-slap the hapless Mutauto who now has a hearing impairment after the beating.

” I was slapped menacingly such that since the day, one of my ear no longer hears properly and has pus, “he added.

He lodged his complaint to one Ngwerume, who is one of the directors at the security firm who dissuaded him to report the case to police but seek recourse with the owner.

” I approached Mr Ngwerume and told him of the incident. He advised me not to report the matter to the police but I told him for me to access medical services I needed a police report.

” It was after I had gone to Matapi Police Station that he offered me US$10 for medical treatment,” revealed Mutauto.

The security guard said what now irks him is that the Guard Alert owner and the management are not remorseful over what transpired.

“From all what happened to me I thought the boss and the management should have respected me. The money I received from them is hardly adequate to pay for the medical bills I have accrued following the incident.

” Right now I need to go for reviews but they are not ready to hear my plight. I approached the Zimbabwe Security Guards Union who instructed me to sue for compensation but for the legal recourse to ensue, there are forms which the management is supposed to sign but it has been evasive, “said a tearful Mutauto.

The Zimbabwe Security Guards Union(Zisegu) confirmed that Mutauto engaged them.

” I can confirm that Trymore Mutauto engaged over the assault case but we advised him that it was purely a civil and criminal matter not a labour dispute.

” We however assisted him in writing a letter of demand seeking compensation for medical bills incurred and contumelia on the 14th of February. What he should is to serve the employer with summons to institute legal proceedings and the last time we heard from him, he had no money, “confirmed Zisegu legal officer, Ruth Gandidze.

However, contacted for comment, the Guard Alert owner scoffed at the allegations and accused Mutauto of wanting to extort him money by creating fictitious allegations.

” There was no assault of any kind, I admit I raised my voice to him because of his scruffy turnout at the HQ gate but there certainly was never any racial connotation.

” I am an old man of 67 and employ over 5000 employees so would a) not be able to to assault a young man and b) would never do anything to jeopardise the well being of our workforce.

” This man is on a mission to get cash which is evidenced by his claim for thousands of dollars.
There is absolutely nothing to back his story and hence why the matter has not gone further.
If I or my company is besmerched or defamed in any way there will be legal action to rectify and seek damages(sic), “responded the owner.

Tenant Kills Landlord For Evicting Him

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man (34) allegedly killed his landlord for evicting him from his house.

Admire Mnkandla went on the run after his landlord, Mgcini Sibanda (44), was found dead on a toilet seat.

On 18 March, Sibanda had allegedly asked Mnkandla why he was still at his house in Nkulumane when he had evicted him in January 2023 and Sibanda beat him up.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said police are hunting Mnkandla.

“On 18 march 2023 at around 11 PM, the now deceased Mgcini Sibanda a male adult aged 44 years had a misunderstanding with the accused person over an issue why he was still staying in his house while he had given him notice in January 2023.

“The accused person assaulted Mgcini Sibanda with an unknown object and he sustained injuries but did not report the matter to the police neither did he seek medical help. The accused person ran away soon after committing the offence.

The deceased was found the following day by a neighbour dead whilst sitting on the toilet seat. A police report was then made.

He had two cuts on the forehead consistent to have been caused by a sharp object, bruises on both knees and blood stains on the left arm,” said Insp Ncube.

He warned members of the public are warned against violence.

“At least choose better ways of resolving disputes and not take the law into your own hands. It may start as a mere assault which then turns into murder,” said the police spokesperson.

Taxi Driver Attacked By Gun Wielding Robbers

By A Correspondent- A Rusape taxi driver is lucky to be alive after he was robbed, stripped naked, and dumped by gun-wielding robbers recently.

The taxi driver, Julius Jusa and his friend, Rasheed Chikwenya, were robbed of two cellphones, US$150 and the vehicle.

The duo was dumped in the bush at around midnight and had to seek help while naked.

ZRP spokesperson in Manicaland Province Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the incident to The Manica Post but he did not reveal when the robbery occurred. Said Insp Muzondo:

The incident happened near St Joseph’s Primary School Turn-off, along the Rusape-Hwedza Road.

On the day in question, Mr Jusa, who was at OK Parking Area in Rusape, was approached by the three accused persons who asked him to transport them to St Joseph’s Primary School Turn-off.

Mr Jusa asked Mr Chikwenya to accompany him. One of the suspects sat at the passenger’s seat, while the two and Mr Chikwenya sat at the back.

One of the suspects told the driver to turn left towards St Joseph’s High School, but he refused.

Sensing danger, the driver refused to stop the vehicle. The suspect who was on the passenger’s seat produced a pistol and fired a warning shot.

He threatened to shoot Mr Jusa if he failed to comply with their orders.

He ordered Mr Jusa, who was now in panic mode, to sit at the back while he took over the driving. He drove towards Hwedza Road.

He ordered the two complainants to surrender their cellphones and threw the SIM cards outside.

They reached Zindoga Turn-off and turned right. They drove for over two kilometres on a dirty road.

The accused then stripped the complainants naked and took away their wallets with a combined US$158.

They threw the clothes away and dumped the two in a bush. The duo later walked naked before they met a Good Samaritan who reported the matter to the police.

Water Crisis Haunts Byo

By A Correspondent- Residents in Bulawayo have been hit by a serious water crisis with most suburbs going for weeks without running water amid fears of a disease outbreak.

The city is enduring a prolonged water-shedding exercise as the Bulawayo City council (BCC) struggles to pump water due to alleged power outages.

In a statement, the local authority said due to the power outages at Ncema and Fernhill pump stations, the city is only receiving eight to ten hours of pumping water per day instead of the normal 24 hours of pumping.

This has resulted in minimal volumes of water being pumped, which is not enough to meet the water demand.

Residents said the failure of the local authority to supply water has forced them to get it from unsafe sources.

A Chronicle crew on 19 March visited selected suburbs in the western areas and observed people who were getting water from unclean sources.

In Pelandaba West some women were fetching water from swampy areas which they said will be used for washing, cleaning, and other household chores as the cleaner water is kept for drinking and cooking.

An elderly woman who only identified herself as Mamoyo said she had no option other than to get the water from the swampy areas as the water woes were getting worser as days went by.

“It has been three weeks now without water from my taps. Others say it came last week for a few hours but because l was at work l did not get a chance to refill my buckets which is why l am here today. The clean water that l have at home l have to keep it for drinking and cooking because should l waste it on washing l shall end up stranded,” she said.

The news crew observed a group of children who were squatting at a nearby bush relieving themselves since there is no water, oblivious to the fact that they are breeding diseases as the waste will attract flies.

Mr Mike Maphosa from Iminyela suburb said he gets water from White City stadium as there is a tap open for residents there.

Mr Maphosa said the ongoing water shedding programme was breeding diseases, especially for residents at Iminyela who share toilets.

“To make matters worse the water bills that come every month are very high, especially when one thinks of how there is always no water from our taps. That is why some people are not paying bills because they are tired of paying bills for no solid reason,” said Mr Maphosa.

In Mpopoma Ms Gugulethu Gundu said she is now used to not having water and becomes worried when her children tell her there is running water.

She said because the water is always not there l have advised my children to not drink it because water pipes that are always dry have deadly water so l now buy water from the city centre.

“It’s like l am now paying double water bills because l need to buy drinking water and still pay my water bills which always come with terrifying bills,” said Ms Gundu.

Some business people are however rejoicing as business is booming for them since people are now resorting to buying water buckets and distilled water.

In Thorngrove suburb the crew met Mr Isheanopa Sithole who was selling water containers and he told the crew ever since water woes started business has been good because people have no choice but to buy the buckets.

He said he had to increase the price of a bucket recently due to high demand.

Bulawayo City Council’s corporate communications manager, Mrs Nesisa Mpofu told our Sister paper the Sunday News last week that: “It’s still too early to say if shedding is going to be implemented up until the end of the year as the rainy season hasn’t lapsed.

“The city is officially on the 72-hour shedding period. However, it is overridden by daily restoration strategies due to load shedding at our plants at Umzingwane, Inyankuni, Ncema and Fernhill that affects our Reservoir levels resulting in reduced storage volumes.

However, the city is banking on an unlikely heavy downpour to avert disaster.

Susan Mutami 2 Pregnancies To 2 Different Men In Under 1yr, And Twins That Never Existed

..

Susan Mutami – file

.

By A Correspondent | Mystery surrounds the whereabouts of the controversial self styled whistle-blower, Susan Mutami following an eletric period of exposing ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa and rallying the public around that cause, between June and August 2022. Mutami is now nowhere to be seen. Since the period of the United Nations she went off social media and off friends.

So what really happened to the whistleblower who could have easily helped to lift the plight of abused minors? ZimEye searches around all over Brisbane, among friends, family, and even on the Twitter website that became her attack base against people like Marry Mubaiwa who ended up being amputated following Mutami’s false allegations, Susan still cannot be found.

ZimEye checks with Susan’s mother, Rebecca Mutami, whose phone is switched off soon after picking up the journalist’s voice. Soon after that call, the mum’s Facebook posting stops completely for months running into December, not a single dot can be seen.

ZimEye turns to Susan’s young sister, the 20 year old Kundai, whose phone is swiftly switched off soon after the ZimEye journalist has introduced himself.

“How are you Kundai? I am looking for Susan,” our reporter asks, to which she replies by demanding to know,

“Who is calling?”

The call is terminated upon announcement of ZimEye.

Afterwards, another local Australian Correspondent tasked by ZimEye tries her luck, only to report back saying that the phones are ringing but none of the two, (mother and young sister) are picking up.

So was Susan Mutami killed? If anything happened to her at least her brother, still to be contacted, would have notified the world, a source tells ZimEye.

To somewhat confirm this, an intelligence agent provides possibly the clearest detail on Susan Mutami’s whereabouts. “The last time I spoke with her she told me that she is now changing her number because she has to avoid people,” they tell ZimEye. ZimEye was still to be given Susan’s “new phone numbers,” at the time of writing as promised.

So what really happened to this whistleblower who also says she is an anti terorism expert and who was going to make announcements at the UN General Assembly in September exposing her former boss and one time “boyfriend”?

Something happened to her which is more than money, a state agent tells ZimEye. The whole sequel begins in 2020, when Mutami got pregnant twice in a year to 2 different men, amid a long string of others in the same 12 month period.

She would also in the same year threaten to ‘rape’ Simba Chikanza’s own father (94) during interviews.

The below is a trail of event twists that involved high profile ministers caught between two scandals, one on the sale of stands, and one of trappings using Susan who was self proclaiming to be an anti-terrorism expert.

It was all triggered when earlier in the year, the Special Anti Corruption Unit head, Thabani Mpofu was close to arresting Local Govt Minister, July Moyo over the alleged sale of stands in Harare, Kwekwe and Gweru for his own benefit.

There were several beneficiaries listed on this reported scandal who are in the ministry of Justice; so to hide this, a quick plan was hatched to get Mpofu fired.

Owen Ncube

Mpofu, who leads the controversial taskforce, was swiftly accused of authoring letters for MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti advising the opposition icon on ways of navigating through the justice system.

Close sources allege that, when this was about to happen, the Norton MP Temba Mliswa went over to president, Emmerson Mnangagwa to advise him to ignore the calls to fire Mpofu; doing this in order to settle scores with the enemy of an enemy (Mliswa had heard that Thabani Mpofu had been set up by July Moyo, Owen Ncube, and Virginia Mabhiza). Mliswa has had several bones to chew with Thabani Mpofu. Mliswa reasoned with Mnangagwa saying: how could Thabani Mpofu author letters for MDC Deputy President Tendai Biti in this age and time when he could simply pick a phone call.

Parallel to all this, Temba Mliswa was the subject of an ongoing probe in which he was entangled with ex girlfriend, Susan.

Facts became clear mid February that, Susan Mutami, the centre of the axis, was used to incriminate Mliswa.

Mutami is an enigma. She claims she bedded the late SB Moyo, Killer Zivhu, Temba Mliswa. She even openly  announces saying she has bedded Emmerson Mnangagwa.

She says she has Mliswa’s twins, while at the same time naming her son after his arch enemy, Owen Ncube.

5 LOVERS, 2 PREGNANCIES TO 2 DIFFERENT MEN, ALL IN ONE YEAR

In 2020 alone, she dated at least four High profile men who include the Foreign Affairs Minister SB Moyo, one after the other:

Susan Mutami’s 2021 June profile picture – source: Susan Mutami, Twitter.com

Polite Kambamura, the Mining Deputy Minister (they were engaged). Walter Chikwana, Secretary for the Judicial Commission (they had a civil partnership in 2020), and ZANU PF MP, Hon Kenneth Musanhi (see pictures).

Furthermore, an affidavit seen by ZimEye states in addition that she was already pregnant way before bedding Mliswa in 2020

The affidavit, certified by the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), shows that as at around March 2020, she was still engaged to another man, who works inside the JSC, Mr Walter Chikwana.

The man was reached for a comment but wouldn’t speak or respond to questions.

The affidavit states that Mutami was carrying a pregnancy to another man at the end of March 2020. In the affidavit, her boyfriend, Mr Chikwana says:

+

‘ I am Susan Vivian Mutami’s partner and in case of emergency I can be contacted on the above mentioned address or on my mobile number, +263772***********”

He then goes on to say he is the legal guardian of SB Moyo’s Child (full name redacted-in accordance with the Children’s Act on the paper).

” I am also the legal guardian of (name withheld), and our unborn child as of date. Attached hereto is a copy of my identification.”

The affidavit was signed on the 24th March 2020.

Affidavit

The development puts burden on Mutami to explain the timing drama surrounding her two pregnancies (to different men) which are within months of each other.

She also says that she is the holder of two Australian degrees of which she has none, and also makes false claims that she is the winner of Australia’s CEO awards. During interviews with Mutami, ZimEye reveals how that her claims to university courses are baseless.

She is also put to task on her CEO Awards claim, and it is revealed that she was only a passerby at the function who posed in front of a camera holding someone else’s award. (SEE RGM INTERVIEW BELOW)

Her ex lover, Mliswa has maintained his allegations that he was set up by the Central Intelligence Organisation in order to incriminate him using Susan Mutami.

By this time, he has been arrested and charged for violating COVID regulations while holding a press conference to address her allegations against him.

After all this, she is stopped while trying to leave the country, and then she is put under the custody of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
Mutami is held for possessing details on the attempted assassination of the president and killing of three aides at the White City Stadium, then she is whisked out by two powerful ministers who have close links to the president, July Moyo (local governments), Owen Mudha Ncube, minister of state security. After being whisked out without knowledge of the mother body of the CIO, she then starts to attack to the Director General of the CIO, who she claims she once dated, then threatening to release secret information on the cabinet, Politburo and a number of other official secrets, while on the same tweet, absolving the two ministers, July Moyo and Owen Mudha Ncube.

At this time, July Moyo is under investigations for parceling out land, a case being probed by Thabani Mpofu’s SACU organisation.

July Moyo is very close to permanent Secretary Mrs Virginia Mabhiza and Kumbirai Hodzi, the prosecutor General. At the same time, Thabani Mpofu’s SACU is having clashes with the Prosecutor General. There was a collusion between the Prosecutor Gen and July Moyo to get Thabani Mpofu fired. The PG and July Moyo then approached the president Emmerson Mnangagwa to pass allegations that Thabani Mpofu has advised Biti.

The event trail is as follows:

Thabani Mpofu is accused of writing WhatsApp letters to MDC Alliance MP Tendai Biti giving him advice on how to return to parliament, and this makes the president very angry. At this time, Mnangagwa has also been told by Perm Sec Virginia Mabhiza, and Prosecutor Gen Kumbirai Hodzi, to ignore the request to arrest Minister July Moyo on land fraud.

Mnangagwa then summons Thabani Mpofu to State House where he is dressed down. It is reported that Mpofu has been fired. ZimEye contacts Mpofu who tells this news network, it’s not true at all. Are you my employer?, Mpofu fires a question while answering to the report.

Soon afterwards, Temba Mliswa who is naturally against Mpofu, comes to the rescue of Mpofu to tell the President that Mpofu has been set up. Thabani Mpofu also gets support of the CIO DG Isaac Moyo. This angers July Moyo who together with Owen Ncube sponsor Susan Mutami to tweet ‘some dirt’ on Isaac Moyo while absolving July Moyo and Owen Ncube publicly, on the Twitter website.

State security sources report saying Mutami was whisked out of Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Border post. ZimEye requests paperwork to confirm that the escape was truly through that border post. No date is provided, but by end of April 2021, she is now safely in Australia.

Both Owen Ncube and July Moyo are contacted for a comment, and their phones are put down soon after hearing the interview questions.

Responding to the state security reports, Mliswa denies ever approaching Mnangagwa to assist Mpofu. He tells ZimEye: “Mpofu, Matanga, Mudha, July Moto, and Ziyambi Ziyambi are all one and the same, working hand-in-hand.”

It surfaces that Mutami is an agent of July Moyo and his team to settle their matters with Director General, Isaac Moyo. Thabani Mpofu then suddenly comes out the victim of the two warning camps.

By this time, the development has raised questions on how safe Zimbabweans are when ministers and two officials are using a woman to settle their personal scores. Is Zimbabwe is being run by people controlled by bottom power, or is it that Susan Mutami has some ability to capture all these people, or she is so dazzling to control the nation’s top government officials?

The following year 2022, at a time when there are many questions still to be answered by Susan such as: where is the proof of your degrees in counter terrorism? Where are Mliswa twins you said you gave birth?, Why do you seem skipping from one high profile man to the other?, where is the proof of your nursing degree? Why on earth did you threaten to rape Simba Chikanza’s father?, Where is the proof that you are a famous person who won the Australian CEO awards?, Susan Mutami bounces out to announce that she was raped by Emmerson Mnangagwa.

During her tweets, she also accuses the mother of 5, Marry Chiwenga, saying she (contrary to clear video evidence) attempted to kill her husband the Vice President, allegations that would get Marry amputated after being denied her passport for a medical travels.

She also accuses her former lover, Mliswa of raping a minor who eventually died from an abortion.

On her widely attended Twitter space, Susan Mutami accuses journalists who have asked her these pertinent questions of being state agents, going to the point of claiming Simba Chikanza whose father she threatened to assault,
was paid by the military intelligence.

She then promises to fly to the UN General Assembly to expose Mnangagwa and connect with the masses over her allegations.

The whole nation starts to expect her to dress down the 80 year old ZANU PF leader in front of the world. ZimEye maintains its caution stating that Mutami cannot be genuine, and the Queensland Police where she claimed she has registered a police case have announced that the number she publicised is not even a police case reference.

Her Twitter account stops posting by the end of August 2022 and in the whole of September, there is not a mention of Mutami at the UN General Assembly.

By Dec 2022, Susan Mutami has gotten Marry Chiwenga amputated and on another hand, dashed the hopes of millions of abused children whose rape cases are likely to be doubted now when they make reports.

Between being silenced and just going silent on her own, what has happened to Susan Mutami?

Missing MP Fails To Fulfil 10 Cabbages Pledge At Funeral

By A Correspondent- Mazowe North Member of Parliament Campion “Missing MP” Mugweni has come under fire from Mvurwi residents and vendors who accuse him of giving fake promises after he promised to deliver cabbages at a funeral but failed to meet his promise.

Mugweni was humiliated by vendors last week after he promised them loans which they never got.

The residents told Mugweni during a meeting that last year he duped mourners by promising to donate 10 cabbages which he never brought.

“We no longer trust you MP, last year promised mourners 10 cabbages at a funeral in Rusunguko and people clapped hands, but you never brought your pledge. So, how can we trust you again with our votes,” fumed one resident.

In his response, Mugweni said the cabbages took a long time to come and when they finally arrived, people were already eating.

“Forgive me, l was overwhelmed but l remembers when those cabbages came people were already eating,” he said.

Vendors who spoke to this publication said Mugweni promised them loans which he said would be available by Thursday but to date no one received anything.

“Mugweni cannot be trusted, last week he promised to give us loans, he was hoping that primary elections will be held last Saturday but to date, we got nothing,” lamented the vendors.

Mugweni went missing from the constituency soon after winning the 2018 general elections, only to resurface now seeking re-election. Due to his unavailability in his constituency, people from his constituency nicknamed him “The Missing MP.”

Zanu PF Boss Bash ZEC Officers, Barred From Primaries

By-Zanu PF has barred its Harare Provincial Commissar Kudakwashe Damson from participating in the upcoming primary elections for assaulting Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) officials.

Damson attacked the ZEC officials on duty conducting voter education in Epworth, accusing them of wearing yellow T-shirts.

Damson is facing charges of contravening the Electoral Act by obstructing ZEC proceedings. He was remanded to 5 April on a $50 000 bail.
This was said by ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Christopher Mutsvangwa while addressing the media at a post-extraordinary Politburo session in Harare on Monday, 20 March. Said Mutsvangwa:
We await the justice system to guide us in decision-making. Cde Damson, the PC for Harare province was disqualified.
We hope he will accept the decision. He still has a future in the party and is a hard worker.
The President stresses that the party is bigger than individuals.
This also goes to show that there is zero tolerance for violence There is zero tolerance against corruption and violence.
He also said the Politburo approved at least 99.9 percent of CVs of aspiring primary elections candidates.
Mutsvangwa said President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is the ZANU PF First Secretary, will soon announce the dates of the primaries.

Award Winning Zim Actor Shaun Mundawarara Joins The Cast Of Disney’s The Lion King UK & Ireland Tour.

Zimbabwean actor Shaun Mundawarara has been cast in the award-winning stage musical “The Lion King.”

Mundawarara will join the UK and Ireland Tour as a member of the ensemble as well as understudying the lead role of Simba. The multi-talented actor attended an open casting call held last year in Cape Town, South Africa and was then called back for a 2nd round of auditions in February 2023 where he subsequently was signed on as a cast member for the tour.

“Growing up, The Lion King was my favourite movie. It is the first script I ever knew off by heart. The stage show in London which I was lucky enough to go and see, was the first major theatre production I ever watched. It was then I decided that my goal was to be a part of this amazing show. Getting this role is a full circle moment for me as now I get to live out one of my dreams” stated Mundawarara

When asked what message he had for other young aspiring actors in Zimbabwe, Mundawarara stated “If you are willing to put in the work, anything is possible. Landing this role has been a culmination of years of working on my craft from local theatre productions, taking vocal coaching & even taking ballet classes! I knew that this type of role required a multi-talented performer & over the years I was very intentional in making sure I developed my skills to be ready for this type of opportunity”

Shaun Mundawarara is an actor for TV, Film and Theatre. He was the first Zimbabwean to win a Kenya Theatre award in the category of Best Performance By A Male Actor In A Lead Role (Musical) in 2022. In the same year he scooped up two REPS AFDIS Awards including “Best musical performance” and “Best Supporting Actor” for roles in “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Macbeth”. Most recently he became only the 2nd person to be nominated for Outstanding Actor at the NAMA awards in both the film and theatre categories for the same year, walking away with the NAMA for Outstanding theatre actor at the 21st NAMA ceremony held in Harare on the 25th of February 2023.

The Lion King is a stage musical with music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, with additional music and lyrics by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. It is based on the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film of the same name.

No GNU Before Or After Elections, Says Chamisa

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has ruled out any prospects of a Government of National Unity (GNU) with Zanu PF led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, before or after general elections expected between July and August.

Addressing hundreds of ‘Change Champions’ from across Mashonaland West gathered at the party’s offices in Chinhoyi Monday, Chamisa urged the electorate to vote in numbers in order to ensure CCC gains total control of urban and rural councils, Parliament and Senate.

The CCC presidential candidate said his party does not wish to enter into a GNU with Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF as did predecessors late former president Robert Mugabe and late opposition stalwart, Morgan Tsvangirai.

“We learnt our lesson, there won’t be any GNU before or after elections. Let us win resoundingly in local authorities where we will restore Executive Mayors, let’s have parliamentary majority in the coming elections.

“As a new political party, we performed exceptionally well in recent by-elections clinching 89 out of 132 wards which were being contested while for MPs we managed to win 19 out of 28 up for grabs. That was an indicator we can win all the way up to president,” said Chamisa.

Responding to journalists who quizzed him on how he took utterances by President of the Chiefs Council, Senator Chief Fortune Charumbira calling on him and Mnangagwa to dialogue, Chamisa said he was open to talks with his erstwhile nemesis.

“I always talk about it, that this country belongs to the people of Zimbabwe, we are one people.

“Negotiating is good, there is nothing wrong. No one can go it alone, it’s not Zanu PF alone or CCC alone, unity builds a country,” said Chamisa, who in 2018 controversially lost presidential polls.

“The message of building and uplifting each other is positive and important. Let’s dialogue, but engaging in dialogue doesn’t mean you agree, even if you don’t agree you will get to a point where you say yes we haven’t reached consensus but we have one vision.”

Speaking Sunday at Mafuva village in Masvingo West at the funeral wake of Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume’s late mother, Chief Charumbira said Chamisa and Mnangagwa need to have tea together, even if it meant Chamisa bringing his own teabags if he feared being poisoned.

Zimbo Nabbed Over Fake Drivers’ Licence

By A Correspondent- Police in Ekurhuleni have arrested a 45-year-old man who was riding a motorbike, after he initially ignored instructions to stop, and later produced a “fake” Zimbabwean driving licence.

Spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Constable Marie Mashishi said a case of fraud had been registered, and charges under the Immigration Act could be added.

“On Friday 17 March 2023 at 1pm, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Tembisa precinct officers arrested a 45-year-old male driver for being in possession of a doubtful official document in the Tembisa area,” Mashishi said.

“Metro police officers busy with law enforcement on Andrew Mapheto Drive near Esangweni section made an attempt to stop a motorcyclist for riding inconsiderately. A biker ignored instructions and a chase ensued, until he was cornered, on Straight-line Road, near the Caprivi entertainment centre.

“The undocumented lawbreaker, from Zimbabwe, was handcuffed and taken to the Rabasotho police station after producing a fraudulent Zimbabwean-issued driver’s licence to officers. A case of fraud has been registered and charges under the Immigration Act could be added against him,” Mashishi said.

She said the detained suspect is set to appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.

Last month, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department arrested a Zimbabwean man for possession of a fake driver’s licence after he was stopped for reckless driving in Tembisa, in Gauteng.

At the time, Constable Mashishi said the driver was stopped after he sped towards oncoming traffic in an attempt to overtake a funeral convoy in the presence of police officers.

“On Sunday, 19 February, 2023 at 10am, members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Tembisa precinct, arrested a male suspect in his forties, for possession of a fraudulent driver’s licence, in the Lethabong section,” Mashishi said.

“While officers were busy with the funeral escort, from Tembisa to the Mooifontein cemetery, they noticed a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi with one male occupant, unsafely overtaking the hearse and facing oncoming traffic on Andrew Mapheto Drive near the Tembisa Plaza.”

“A driver in possession of the Zimbabwean foreign national driver’s licence, was handcuffed after officers picked up that, the driver’s licence produced, was false. Necessary arrangements were made, for the minibus taxi, to end up at the owner’s hands, while the suspect was marched to the Tembisa police station,” Mashishi said.

“A charge of ‘possession of a fraudulent driver’s licence’, was registered against the suspect and he is expected to appear at the Rabasotho/Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.”

Aspiring Zanu Pf MP On The Run Over Violence

By A Correspondent- Aspiring ZANU PF Mazowe West Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Makwezva is on the run after he allegedly bashed a district party chairman on Sunday.

Makwezva of house number 11570 Hatclif, Harare and is employed at Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) is challenging Mazowe West MP Kazembe Kazembe.

Sources close to investigations allege he assaulted Chinga Tsekwende of plot 8 Wengi farm Concession after he told him that he would not stand  with Kazembe in primary elections.

“Tsekwende is chairman for Munhangari district so Makwezva had come to campaign in that district but the chairman told him to try in some districts because his district is solidly behind Kazembe and that angered Makwezva hence he assaulted him with open hands,” said the source.

The matter was reported at Concession police under Rrb number 5168387.

Thigh Vendors Pose As MSU Students

By A Correspondent- It was on a Friday when Mr Trust Dengu (not his real name) who had just relocated to Gweru from Masvingo decided to go out and treat himself to some beers and braai at a popular night spot in the central business district (CBD).

Mr Dengu had been appointed new manager for a leading hardware company and was excited to be in a new environment.

After downing one or two beers, Mr Dengu’s eyes fell on a young woman and after engaging in a conversation, she revealed to him that she was a student at the Midlands State University (MSU) pursuing a degree in Music and Musicology.

He said they then went to his lodgings to spend some quality time together.
“On Saturday morning she left my lodgings saying she had weekend lectures. Since it was a weekend and I wasn’t on duty, some guys I work with decided to take me to Mkoba One shopping centre popularly known as Makanda,” said Mr Dengu.

He said as he was chilling with his boys, he suddenly saw the young woman that he thought was in class at MSU.

“The ‘MSU’ student I had spent the night with who was supposed to be attending weekend lectures, was at Makanda business centre drinking beer with some female friends around 11AM. I told the guys I was with that I had spent a night with her and they laughed at me saying I could not wait to settle down before sleeping with prostitutes,” said Mr Dengu.

He said that’s when he learnt that he had been lied to and as they say, the rest is history.
This is the situation in the city of Gweru and Zvishavane town where sex workers in a bid to attract clients pretend to be MSU students.

Apart from being a minerals-rich province, Midlands is home to the biggest institution of higher learning, MSU.

There are also tertiary institutions such as Gweru Polytechnic and Mkoba Teachers College but the biggest attraction is MSU.

Ms Tamari Magauze (24) a sex worker said they carry around books, satchels, and laptops so that they lure men who are more attracted to university students.

“We are now carrying laptop bags or satchels and that is an easy way of attracting our clients. Some of us actually go and loiter at the MSU campuses in Gweru and Zvishavane during knock-off time so that we get clients,” she said.

Ms Magauze said it has been proved that men find sleeping with a university student exciting.

“When I tell a client that I am an MSU student, he treats me respectfully. Even the way he looks at me and addresses me changes. They treat me with respect and I get double the usual fee for a night which is US$20. Sleeping with a university student is a status symbol for men and we are now aware of that,” she said.

Another sex worker who declined to be identified said she was once assaulted by a client who found out that she had lied that she was a university student.

“We target new faces in a club because old clients know us. Many of them will be in town for workshops or work-related assignments. I was unfortunately assaulted by one client when he learnt that I had lied to him but in order to survive we continue lying,” she said.

Mr Petros Mazengwa, who is Gweru District HIV and Aids co-ordinator at the National Aids Council (NAC) said Gweru has a thriving sex work industry largely driven by mining activities.

The city, he said, has around 4 500 sex workers and when MSU opens, sex work booms.
“Gweru is a busy city, we tend to see a lot of people coming to Gweru all the time from small-scale miners, academics and sex workers. We have plus or minus 4 500 sex workers in Gweru,” said Mr Mazengwa.

He said sex workers employ various strategies to lure potential clients.

“When MSU opens, they also flock to Gweru during that period because they also want to pretend to be students. Somehow, older men see it as a status symbol to be known to be sleeping with a university student. Clients rarely ask for students’ identity documents and so their word is enough to entice a client,” said Mr Mazengwa.

NAC Midlands provincial manager Mr Mambewu Shumba said there are still challenges in dealing with HIV and Aids.

“The biggest problem in the province is limited access to HIV prevention knowledge and health-related services by people at risk.

These include small-scale miners, sex workers, traders and students,” he said.

Mr Shumba said HIV prevalence in the province is at 11,73 percent adding that the infection rate or incidence is at 0,25 percent.

“This indicates that we have a lot of infections coming in and we still have unprotected sex taking place.

The leading district in terms of both prevalence and incidence is Shurugwi. The district has a prevalence of 16,62 percent and an incidence of 0,4 percent which is quite high in terms of transmission. That is also followed by Mberengwa, Gweru and Zvishavane.

Shurugwi is the epicentre in terms of prevalence by virtue of the fact that there are a lot of mining activities going on,” he said.

MSU director of communications, Mrs Mirirai Mawere said they opened this week for level 1.1 students.

She said the institution has a vibrant Student Affairs Division headed by an Executive Dean to cater for students’ sexual reproductive health needs.

“In that division, there is a counselling and services department with highly qualified counsellors who provide counselling on sexual reproductive health, physical and mental health, drug and substance abuse. There are also student clubs that conduct peer-to-peer counselling and also carry out awareness campaigns,” she said.

Missing Teen’s Decomposed Body Discovered

Karabo Manyama

By A Correspondent- The decomposed body of a teenage girl reported missing in Cyferskuil, near Makapanstad in North West, was found on Wednesday buried in a shallow grave at her boyfriend’s house.

North West police said the decomposed body of Karabo Manyama, 15, was found buried in a shallow grave.

“The decomposed body of 15-year-old Karabo Manyama was discovered on Wednesday, March 8, buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of her 23-year-old boyfriend.

“The boyfriend was arrested on the same day, and he was charged for cases of murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice. He is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrate’s Court on Friday, March 10,” said North West police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani.

Manyama, of Monageng Street in Cyferskuil, was last seen on Sunday at about 13:00 when she left home to watch soccer at a nearby field.

She never returned home. A search was conducted around the neighbourhood and Cyferskuil precinct without any success.

In the Free State, police said they had finally cracked the murder case at Malekunutu section of Tseseng Village, where a man’s body was found lying in the yard of his ex-girlfriend, on Sunday. The woman’s new boyfriend has been arrested.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the body of a man who sustained two fatal open wounds on his head was discovered by the owner of the house on Sunday.

Mophiring said the man was identified as Mxolisi Mthombeni, 50, residing at Phomolong, next to Tseseng Shopping Complex.

He was the ex-boyfriend of a woman whose son was also found in the same place.

“Both the mother and her son alleged they have not seen the deceased for the past few months and were not in a relationship with the deceased anymore.

“On Wednesday, the new boyfriend was arrested and linked to the alleged murder of the deceased,” Mophiring said.

He was expected to appear in the Tseseng Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, facing a charge of murder.

Man Dumps Wife Over Man

By A Correspondent- A woman claims her ex-husband has become gay after leaving her for another man.

She stated this in court yesterday, when she was claiming child support for their two-year-old son.

Loveness Chokuvamba filed a US$150 claim against her ex-husband, Agripah Chinzou, in Harare Civil Court yesterday.

“He works as a housing inspector for a housing cooperative and can afford to pay US$150, but he is highly irresponsible and neglects his child’s needs,” Chokuvamba explained.

She also told the court that her ex-husband had become gay after leaving her for his male lover.

“He left after stealing some of my property with a man he introduced to me as his friend.

“He is now apparently staying with that man as the ‘wife’,” she said.

In response, Chinzou offered US$50.

“I can only afford to pay US$50. I have no problem with taking care of the child.

“She is giving the wrong impression of my sexuality,” he said, without elaborating.

Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Chinzou to pay US$80 in maintenance.

Chigumba Wins ConCourt Case On Delimitation

The appeal against the delimitation process that drew new borders for the House of Assembly, Senate, and wards to be utilised in the next and any future general elections was rejected by the Constitutional Court.

ZEC boss Justice Priscilla Chigumba – file copy

The new names and boundaries drawn by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission have since been gazetted ahead of the elections sometime this year.

The apex court ruling yesterday comes after a political activist Tonderai Chidawa had filed a lawsuit, seeking to overturn the delimitation process, arguing the process was flawed because the tenets of the Constitution were not followed.

But in a brief order, the apex court rejected the bid without giving finer details of its decision, saying the reasons would be made available in due course.

Chidawa’s lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku described the court decision as unsatisfactory.

“It’s a very disappointing judgment because the court has refused to have an opportunity to look at Section 119 (of the Constitution) and obligations of Parliament, thereof,” he said speaking to journalists outside Mashonganyika Building which houses the Constitutional Court.

“They will give their reasons later. I suspect the court does not want to interpret Section 119 to go as far as we had put it ourselves, which accountability of State institutions such as independent commissions that Parliament is entitled to investigate how they operate in terms of the Constitution.

“Section 119 of the Constitution, gives Parliament power to ensure that provisions of the Constitution are upheld and that the State and all institutions and agencies of government at every level act constitutionally and in the national interest.”

In his application, Chidawa accused Parliament of failing to invalidate the delimitation report and initiate investigations into it.

The new constituency and ward boundaries set were informed by population densities, geographic considerations and the dictates of the country’s constitution.

Apart from population densities, other considerations in the delimitation exercise were physical features and means of communication, and communities of interest.

This resulted in some former commercial farms being converted into peri-urban areas, while some communal areas, especially those that border urban areas, were converted from their former description to urban or peri-urban areas.

The national Constitution stipulates that ZEC must divide Zimbabwe into 210 constituencies for the purposes of electing Members of Parliament.

To achieve this, the total number of registered voters, which was 5 804 376 at the time of the delimitation, was divided by 210 constituencies.

According to ZEC, that process yielded a national average of 27 640 registered voters per constituency, a figure that satisfies Section 161(3) of the Constitution which states that; “The boundaries of constituencies must be such that, so far as possible, at the time of delimitation equal numbers of voters are registered in each constituency within Zimbabwe”.

The campaign has seen police using sniffer dogs to search for illicit drugs in homes and vehicles in transit.

The police are also conducting random searches on individuals.

Some of the suspects who were arrested and prosecuted include a suspected Mbare drug kingpin, 31-year-old Simbarashe Chanachimwe popularly known as Dama who was found in possession of sachets of dagga, top model Tumelo Nare aged 26 who was arrested for illegal possession of cocaine.

She is alleged to have overdosed while in a local hotel and walked naked before the police were alerted.

A police officer, Masimba Kunyongana is another suspected drug peddler who was arrested after he was found selling drugs from his car.

40-year-old Tonderai Mutizwa was also nabbed after he was found in possession of 100 grammes of Crystal Meth with a street value of one million Zimbabwe dollars.

Mnangagwa Ditches Teachers

More than 400% salary increment to securocrats is a bribe: CCC Namibia advocates for parity in civil service.

20 March 2023

Citizens Coalition for Namibia advocates for equality within the civil service. It is quite perturbing that the clueless regime has chosen to increase the salaries of soldiers, police, and CIOs neglecting the health, education, and other sectors which are also receiving slave wages from the politically bankrupt ZANU-PF regime.

Reliable sources unearthed that teachers, nurses, and the rest of the civil servants had their meeting postponed to Monday (today) while the security sector was allocated an increment of more than 400% which translates to 450 000 rtgs and 250US$. It is unacceptable to look down upon educators and those who are in the health sector because they are also scratching their heads for a single nutritious meal per day since they get unsalted peanuts as their remuneration. Citizens in Namibia are convinced that this salary increment is an attempt to bribe the sector toward July\August watershed elections.

It is not a secret that educators and those in the health fraternity deserve a living wage that will capacitate them to deliver quality services in the country. Teachers are on record demanding better salaries but they are completely neglected. Initially, they were simply demanding restoration of the pre-October 2018 salary of 540US$ before they adjusted it to US$1200 due to hyperinflation in the motherland. It has become clear that ZANU-PF prioritizes members of the security department because they are routinely exploited to crackdown on the masses whenever they try to voice up calling for salary increment.

Our message to ZANU-PF is unequivocal! We urge the sadist government to respect all its civil servants. On 1 August 2018 after the harmonized elections, Zimbabweans witnessed the ruthless shooting of protesters in Harare by soldiers. It is through such bribes that the security sector is incentivised to shoot live ammunition on innocent and defenceless citizens exercising their constitutional rights enshrined in the supreme law of the fatherland. The regime should treat civil servants equally.

Teachers, nurses, doctors, agritex officers, cleaners, etc deserve salary increment since they are also incapacitated. We are cognizant of the fact that ZANU-PF is attempting to capture the security members, hoodwinking them using salary increment so that come election season, they obviously take instructions from the shake-shake building. This attempt to manipulate the security sector should be resisted with a double measure. Other civil servants must peacefully pent up their outrage demanding a living wage from the insensitive government. Zimbabwe does not belong to ZANU-PF and its corruptible security sector.

Citizens Coalition for Change Namibia encourages the secluded civil servants to amplify their voices castigating the unsalted peanuts from the desperate regime. They should put pressure so that the unpopular regime treats them in the same way with fellow colleagues. We are aware that the policemen were receiving some sort of indoctrination in the name of patriotism. Citizens are conscious to the fact that all securocrats are going to be coerced to vote ZANU-PF through command voting. It is now obvious after this biased, selective and unfair increment from the frustrated regime is meant to divide the civil service. They are buying support and loyalty, this is a fraud.

We condemn the rigging of elections through such primitive technique of state capture. The security sector should bear in mind that their children anticipate to receive quality health services and high sounding education from the neglected constituencies. They must comprehend the negative impact of incapacitated educators and health workers on their children especially when they are hungry, cynical and disillusioned.

Mr. Mnangagwa should ensure that civil servants are put at par considering their different grades. The national cake belongs to all and sundry hence selecting the security sector alone is corruption and gross abuse of the doctrine of equality and justice. Demanding equity is now imperative! Organize or Starve! CCC Namibia notes the need to unite all victims of this painful development against the incompetence exhibited by ZANU-PF morons.

As social democrats who subscribe to freedom, justice and equality, we encourage all civil servants to register big, elect big, and protect big in July\August. The only option available for the victims of slave wages is to vote for a complete metamorphosis championed by the change champion in chief President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. CCC Namibia begs the victims to resist displacements during elections, a skill used by ZANU-PF to deny them their voting rights by deploying them far away from their polling stations. Sacrificing an allowance of 100US$ for 5 years is unreasonable.

Teachers, nurses, doctors, and rest should be deployed as presiding officers in their wards and constituencies so that their constitutional right to vote is not violated. They should know that their vote is their salary! Their vote is their better livelihood! Their vote is their independence and voice!

First Aid Tips For Miners

Compiled by Dr Ellane Simon

First aid should can be offered by anyone but ideally trained personnel to give first aid should offer first aid. When offering first aid always consider your personal safety first. Look out for any dangers and only act when you are confident it is safe to do so.
An unresponsive person is someone not moving or responding when you call them or when gently shaken.

Respiratory emergencies & CPR

  1. Check if breathing by tilting their head back and looking and feeling for breaths. When a person is unresponsive, their muscles relax and their tongue can block their airway so they can no longer breathe. Tilting their head back opens the airway by pulling the tongue forward. If they are breathing, you will see their chest moving and you may hear their breath or feel it on your cheek. If breathing, move on to step two.
  2. Move them onto their side and tilt their head back. Putting them in this position with their head back helps keep their airway open. It ensures their tongue falls forward and blood and vomit drain out. It is sometimes called the “recovery position”.
  3. Call for help or an ambulance as soon as possible.
  4. If the patient needs CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), place the person on their back on a firm, flat surface and start giving chest compressions aiming for 30compressions in 1minute.
    How to do CPR
Hand position: Two hands centered on the chest
Body position: Shoulders directly over hands; elbows locked
    Depth: At least 5cm
Allow chest to return to normal position after every chest compression.

5 Give 2 rescue breaths (if equipment to do that available). Ensure each breath lasts about 1 second and makes the chest rise; allow air to exit before giving the next breath.

Gas leak, Fire & Burns

  1. Turn off gas if safe to do
  2. Evacuate the area immediately
  3. Do not switch any lights or start an open flame
  4. If there is fire use a fire extinguisher to stop the fire from spreading and ring the fire alarm alerting everyone to evacuate the building.
  5. If someone is on fire remove the person from the source of fire, drop and roll him or her over or cover him or her with a fire blanket.
  6. Cool burn under running water
  7. Protect the burn with sterile, non-adhesive bandage (DO NOT APPLY BUTTER OR OINTMENTS)
  8. Do not break blisters
  9. Call for an ambulance and send to hospital

Chemical spill

  1. Remove spoiled clothing
  2. If skin or eyes affected rinse immediately with clean running water
  3. If ingested do not induce vomiting and do not give water or mi unless told to d so by a health professional.
  4. If inhaled move the person to fresh air and give oxygen if available.
  5. After first aid is given send to hospital as soon as possible.

DeMbare In Controversial Win Over Hwange

There was drama at half time during Dynamos’ victory over Premiership returnees Hwange at Babourfields Stadium yesterday, as the Harare giants’ team manager Richard Chihoro sprinkled some liquid to ‘unlock’ the nets, perceived to have been ‘locked’ using ‘juju’.

Despite dominating the game in the first half, DeMbare could not find the breakthrough, with Hwange goalkeeper Nedric Madeya on top of his game, as well as the upright denying Hebert Maruwa’s men.

Madeya’s heroics in the Chipangano goal made the Dynamos fans believe there was some black magic on his towel, which he kept behind his goal.

During the half time interval, Chihoro sprinkled some liquid to ‘unlock’ the nets, sparking wild cheers from the DeMbare fans at the Mpilo End.

A Dynamos fan even bypassed the stadium perimeter fence and took the towel, which was then burnt to ashes.

Dynamos won the game thanks to substitute Tinashe Makanda’s solitary 69th minute goal.- Soccer24 News

X-Factors Of Mining

X factors of mining “

practical lessons to mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of management must not be at whatever costs .

Your relatives ( including your wife and kids ) should get a job somewhere else or be prepared to take instructions from a management team never to directly report to you no matter what. Don’t discuss mining issues with them listen to their opinions silently unless if they qualify then appoint them . Paid management team and all your employees well and fire them for underperformance never rehire someone fired by management team .
Debt .

Debt is a cancer affecting the whole world unfortunately in artisanal mining Debt is what Cellphone lines are to econet , Lithium is to Tesla car , imagine if econet will stop selling lines without coming up with an alternative. Most of mining services are paying after work completion which is root causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more . Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .

Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation. You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost . Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

Mnangagwa Bribes Securocrats With Salary Increment

Mahiya Summoned To Court On Old Charge Of Plotting To Overthrow ED

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has resuscitated the prosecution of Rashid Mahiya, a pro-democracy campaigner and civil society leader, for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, in a case which first emerged four years ago.

Mahiya, the former Board Chairperson of Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) was summoned by the NPA to stand trial on Wednesday 29 March 2023 at Harare Magistrates Court and answer to charges of subverting constitutional government as defined in section 22(2)(a)(i) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

According to the summons, Mahiya, who is the Executive Director of Heal Zimbabwe Trust (HZT), a local civil society organisation, stands accused of unlawfully conniving with some unidentified accomplices in convening a meeting at Wild Geese Conference Centre in Pomona suburb in Harare between 3 December 2018 to 6 December 2018.

The NPA said deliberations from the meeting were aimed at overthrowing or attempting to overthrow President Mnangagwa’s government by unconstitutional means or usurping the functions of the government or coerce Zimbabwean workers to engage in acts of boycott, civil disobedience or passive resistance to law.

The alleged actions, the NPA said, were meant to subvert a constitutional government.

Before being summoned to stand trial, Mahiya had been removed from remand on 5 November 2021 after his lawyer Tonderai Bhatasara of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, successfully challenged the lengthy prosecution of the pro-democracy campaigner without putting him on trial since he was arrested on Monday 25 February 2019.

Mahiya’s arrest in 2019 came after several pro-democracy campaigners, trade unionists, civil society leaders and opposition legislators were arrested following countrywide anti-government demonstrations, where people protested against a steep hike in fuel prices.

Power Cuts, Smuggling: Another Missed Opportunity For Local Textile Industry This Winter Season

By A Correspondent| Incessant power cuts currently crippling Zimbabwe have added to the growing distress facing the local textile industry.

The industry which is already facing threat of collapse due to the proliferation of cheap imports smuggled into the country by ‘runners’, informal traders and fashion botiques, is struggling to cope with load shedding caused by low output from Hwange thermal power station and Kariba hydro power stations due to obsolete equipment and low water levels respectively.

This has forced the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) to implement massive load-shedding that has seen the country going for between 12 to 18 hours without power.

The power blackouts have not spared the local industry which is being forced to operate at night or resort to alternative sources of power.

With winter approaching, blanket manufacturers would normally record brisk business but not anymore as runners are already stocking cheap blankets smuggled from South Africa, Tanzania and China in preparation for the season.

While the government appears clueless on how to end smuggling due to corruption at the ports of entry, the textile industry is now faced with another serious problem of power cuts.

Without electricity, local industries including textile have been left to fork out more to keep running resulting in increased costs of production.

A local economic analyst, Victor Bhoroma said power cuts had a devastating effect on local industries due to increased cost of production which will obviously make local products less competitive against cheap imports being smuggled into the country on a daily basis.

“The rolling power cuts for households and industries will have a devastating effect on capacity utilisation by industry,” he said.

Bhoroma said capacity utilisation is critical in addressing issues of economies of scale which would go up thereby forcing prices of local products upwards.

In an interview with a local weekly, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industry ex-president Sifelani Jabangwe said intensified power cuts at a time when local industries were slowly returning to full-scale operations after COVID-19 was detrimental to economic development of the country.

“This will affect output unless ZESA deliberately ensures industry is excluded from load shedding,” he said.

Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of ZESA announced a new US dollar power tariff of US12,21c/kWh for all exporters while other foreign currency earners would be billed at an average tariff of US10,63c/kWh.

According to ZETDC, the new tariffs are meant to improve the power supply situation and speed up the resolution of faults.

The hope among industry players including textile manufacturers, is that this will translate into improved power supply as failure would add a new headache to the textile industry in Zimbabwe.

While there is hope with Hwange Unit 7 and 8 reportedly coming on the national grid soon, this winter season will be another missed opportunity for local the textile industry.

19-Year-Old Dies After Falling Into A 11-Metre Mine Shaft

A 19-year-old man died after he fell into a 11-metre deep mine shaft where he inhaled hazardous gases.

Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandolwenkosi Moyo confirmed the incident which occurred on 16 March at Kipetra Q1 Mine in West Nicholson. He said Bongani Dlamini from Lupane was being lowered into the shaft by his counterparts when he collapsed and fell into it.

“I can confirm that we recorded a sudden death case where a 19-year-old Bongani Dlamini died. Dlamini was being lowered into a 11 metre deep shaft by his two counterparts who were using a manual winder. Along the way Dlamini asked his mates to pull him back up.

“As they were pulling him up they realised that the rope had gone slack and Dlamini’s weight was gone. They called out to Dlamini but he didn’t respond and they alerted other miners. One miner tried to follow Dlamini down the shaft but as he went down, he complained of suffocating and they quickly pulled him back up,” he said.

Asst Insp Moyo said after the gases had cleared the miners retrieved Dlamini’s body from the shaft. He urged miners owners to ensure that their premises were safe for workers. He said mine workers should also be careful in their operations and observe safety measures.

“We urge mine owners to ensure that their premises meet the standard safety requirements. Mine workers shouldn’t use makeshift equipment as that endangers their lives. Mine owners should also ensure that workers are trained on standard safety measures,” he said.

Zim Biker In Hot Pursuit With SA Police, Arrested In Tembisa

By-A 45-year-old Zimbabwean biker who crossed into South Africa illegally was arrested on Friday after a high-speed chase in Tembisa with officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).

The spokesperson for the EMPD Constable Marie Mashishi said the man, who was riding a motorbike, initially ignored instructions to stop and later produced a “fake” Zimbabwean driving licence. IOL quoted Mashishi as saying:

On Friday 17 March 2023 at 1 pm, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Tembisa precinct officers arrested a 45-year-old male driver for being in possession of a doubtful official document in the Tembisa area.

Metro police officers busy with law enforcement on Andrew Mapheto Drive near Esangweni section made an attempt to stop a motorcyclist for riding inconsiderately.

A biker ignored instructions and a chase ensued, until he was cornered, on Straight-line Road, near the Caprivi entertainment centre.

The undocumented lawbreaker, from Zimbabwe, was handcuffed and taken to the Rabasotho police station after producing a fraudulent Zimbabwean-issued driver’s licence to officers.

A case of fraud has been registered and charges under the Immigration Act could be added against him.

Mashishi said the Zimbabwean man is set to appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.

The biker’s red Big Boy scooter was impounded by the police and was towed to the Tembisa EMPD precinct for safekeeping.

LEAKED- FULL TEXT: Another ZPS Memo On Sikhala Poisoning Allegations

Below is the full uneduted letter by another Chikurubi Maximum Officer, who offloads damning allegations that the persecuted legislator Job Sikhala was poisoned while at the institution. The officer, name withheld, narrates in lengthy detail over Sikhala’s health.

By The insider | I have been in the service as a prison officer for more than twenty years now. I have always carried my duties professionally without political considerations; With the way how the ZPS is now being run, I have decided not to review my annual renewal contract after the end of this year. Political threats, unprofessional activities and the serious rot of corruption and nepotism in the prison services have frustrated me to call it quit.

Since the detention of Job Sikhala, things have not been normal in the prison services. The whole ZPS system dramatically changed for the worse. There is no day that passes without being called to meetings both at the prison or HQ to discuss issues to do with Job Sikhala. Our internal security system has been transformed into a Sikhala agency.

Prison officers who greet Sikhala must be recorded, secretly stalked, monitored and confronted for their political affiliation.

Threats of political consequences are thrown daily to several prison offices. We are no longer operating normally. Even national prison events scheduled annually in August and December have been cancelled because of Sikhala. Last year the annual family weeks where prison inmates are allowed a week`s unlimited visitors by their relatives in August and during the Christmas holidays were cancelled because of Job Sikhala.

He was regarded as the most dangerous security threat in the country.

Prison officers are being threatened that they must maltreat Job Sikhala or else they will be fired or detained. Prison officers are forced to ill-treat Job Sikhala because the wishes of Vakuru. On our daily security briefings, prison officers are directed to make sure that, Job Sikhala is not allowed to talk to his relatives, friends or any prison officer. He must not be allowed to access certain personalities from Triple C and certain classified lawyers were not allowed to see him. He was also not allowed to have accessing to any form of medication because the prison authorities directed his poising the first weeks he was detained.
The poisoning was organised by a few architects getting directives from certain government quarters. A faction in the government that regards Job Sikhala filtrates as a dangerous threat working in conjunction with the commissioner Chihobvu to organise the raids of Job Sikhala` single call as a routine search. Among that several prison officers who raided Job Sikhala cell was one individual who came from the HQ, with the Slow poising cancerous product which he threw on Sikhala`s scattered food in the cells. The cancerous substance thrown will slowly kill Job Sikhala, the way it did to Morgan Tsvangirai
If you look at Job Sikhala today, he is totally different from the Job Sikhala who we detained a year ago. The poison was made easy because, the current Officer In Change at Chikurubi Maximum prison Moses Gukurume is the brother in law of the CG. They are married to sister from the same family. He was dubiously nominated to OIC from the Horses Department. He is stationed at Chikurubi for the CG`s hatchet Jobs. Moses Gukurume carries orders with the Zeal of a kinder players. They take the prison department as their family playstation.
Recently, Gukurume was ordered to raid Sikhala`s prison cell to be seized any form of medication Sikhala was taking to quicken the poisoning effects. In the process, we are admitted that he seized Sikhala BP tablets he was taking daily. The net effect is to cause Sikhala to stroke and publicly announced that Sikhala has died of cardiac arrest, after the toll of prison life was heavy on him, to coincide the poisoning they did on him. The loss of weight by Job Sikhala hold inform everyone that something is wrong.
I have decided to reveal all this at the risk of being caught, but I don’t forget how one who was with us “****** ********” helped several MDC members from the vulture behaviour of the system, I am working for. I shall continue to upgrade all of you as and when I discover more sherawagand deals happening at our work place against innocent opposition part.

Govt Boasts Of Constructing First Specialist Hospital

Zimbabwe’s first specialist hospital, currently under construction in Mazowe, will welcome patients in August as the government works to modernise the healthcare industry and guarantee that top-notch services are offered locally.

The hospital will be among the top specialty healthcare facilities in Africa once it is finished, the state media reports.

Before the main site is unveiled early next year, the facility will begin operating its Oral Health Unit, Eye Centre, Invitro Fertilization Unit (IVF) Unit, and Diagnostic Laboratory. The facility is spearheaded by the University of Zimbabwe and funded by the Government.

UZ Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo said: “We have been putting mechanisms in place to accelerate construction works. We are building capacity to do the construction through our newly established Department of Engineering, Infrastructure and Estate,” he said.

Prof Mapfumo said the site is currently being equipped.

“The groundbreaking of the main site was done by the President but we do have the Oral Health Unit, Eye Centre, IVF Unit and the Diagnostic Laboratory, which are now at equipmentation phase.

“So, we are hoping that those units should be functioning before August this year if we get a good lead of time of part of the critical equipment. We were importing some of the equipment but now, we are trying to look at what we can source in the country and that’s the phase we are in now,” he said.

He said the administration building has now taken shape after a lot of underground construction.

“The second module is the pharmacy building, the third module is the oncology and the fourth is cardiology. We also have the outer site where we are doing the public and environmental health building,” he said.

A Quinary hospital offers the highest specialised healthcare.

The UZ facility is also expected to train specialists and health personnel.

“Our medical school is increasingly becoming very visible and on demand from other institutions in the region. This means we are already on the path to have a flagship for the university and the country in terms of medical training.

“There will be a reduction of the estimated US$400 million that people spend on importing medical services. But we think that the substitution for the Quinary hospital is to stop people from going outside to search for medical assistance,” he said.

The hospital, Prof Mapfumo said, is responding to the call for industrialisation of medical training under Education 5.0.

Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube recently said it was imperative for the country to enhance medical tourism and cut the costly medical bill.

“We were losing US$400 million a year through these referrals. So, the sector sends a patient for treatment to India on referral but that doctor in India, if he were to come to Zimbabwe wanting to treat a patient here, he is not allowed by the same medical council,” said the Minister.

By setting up the Quinary hospital, Zimbabwe will be able to launch its own medical tourism and attract local specialist doctors who are based abroad.

Forced To Have Sex With A Dog

A horrific ordeal that includes being drugged and forced to have sex with a dog by her boss in the Middle East is still haunting a human trafficking victim from Harare.

“I still remember every detail as if it happened yesterday. I want to move on, but it’s still hard to forget it,” she said.

She left the country in May 2020.

“I was contacted by a certain sponsor in Kuwait who said that she had connections who could assist me to get a job,” she narrated.

She continued:
“I am a single mother; I left my two children with my mother and sold the house in Glen Norah so that I could pay for my air ticket and other necessary documents that I would need.

“When I got there, I realised that I had been lied to and trafficked.

“My sponsor took away my travelling documents, money, cell phone and forcefully did blood tests on me checking if I was HIV positive or not.”

She added: “After that she drugged me and all I can remember is that I woke up in this funny room full of women who were dressed like sex workers.

“There were women of all ages, even young girls who were being used as sex slaves.

“Everything was planned so fast.”

100 instances of child trafficking were reported in Zimbabwe in 2020.

“First day, I was forced to sleep with a dog while I was being recorded on video,” she said.

“After that I was told that I will be sleeping with five men every day, but the number kept on increasing

“I was helpless to do anything about it. They threatened to beat me up or even kill me if I failed to follow their orders.

“I was treated like an animal. I lost weight, I got sick.

“Those who fell pregnant were either killed or forced to get an abortion.

“I missed home, I missed my children. I never thought I would see my family again.”

The victim was eventually rescued by one of her clients whom she had created a relationship with, but for a fee.

In March 2022, Home Affairs permanent secretary, Aaron Nhepera said the ministry had “repatriated people who have been trafficked to other countries”.

The Glen Norah woman revealed how she was forced into sex trade.

“One of my clients said he would assist me by stealing my travelling documents from my employer if I gave him US$9 000,” she said.

“He gave me his cellphone so that I could communicate with my brother who was in Zimbabwe.

“We arranged and luckily went back home alive. I thank my ancestors.”

Human trafficking has disturbing and long-lasting effects on mental health, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, anger, guilt and shame.

Experts say individuals who are victims of human trafficking may exhibit signs of emotional numbness and a dependence on substance or alcohol use. The US state department’s 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report said the government of Zimbabwe “does not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking, but is making significant efforts to do so”.

“These efforts included investigating and prosecuting human trafficking cases and conducting training for law enforcement, immigration officials, and other key anti-trafficking officials,” the report said.

“However, the government did not demonstrate overall increasing efforts compared with the previous reporting period, even considering the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, on its anti-trafficking capacity.

“The government did not amend its anti-trafficking law to criminalize all forms of trafficking.

“The government did not identify any trafficking victims or provide care for victims in its designated shelter.

“The government did not convict any traffickers. Therefore,Zimbabwe remained on Tier 2 Watch List for the second consecutive year.”

Eskom Cancels Load Shedding Ahead Of Shutdown

South Africa’s power company, Eskom, announced that load shedding will remain postponed until 5:00 on Monday.

“Load shedding will again be suspended from 05:00 until 16:00 on Tuesday. Then Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Tuesday until 16:00 on Wednesday.”

The power utility further reported that they are currently experiencing breakdowns at 15 645MW of generating capacity, while 4 942MW of generating capacity is out of service for planned maintenance.

The electric utility will release new updates as soon as anything important changes.

“During the last 24 hours, a generating unit at Duvha Power Station was taken offline for repairs. The delays in returning units to service at Matla, Tutuka and Medupi power stations continues,” it said.

“We thank all South Africans for continuing to use electricity sparingly to help alleviate the pressure on the power system,” Eskom added.-IOL

Voting Is Every Citizen’s Right

“Voting is our civic duty”, CCC Namibia embraces 1+5 voter mobilization strategy.

18 March 2023

The arbitrary arrests, torture, gross abuse of human rights, intimidation, long pre-trial detentions, illegal convictions and all forms of injustices are an attempt to suppress the vote and bring cynicism and disillusionment in the voters ahead of the July\August 2023 harmonized elections. The arrest of our pragmatic’ Vice-Chair, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala in June last year is a clear sign of ZANU-PF panic ahead of the impending elections. CCC Namibia is quite aware that the incessant illegal torture and imprisonment of Wiwa and other leaders is a futile trial to discourage our people from fighting for comprehensive political and electoral reforms as a fulfilment of our smart minimum electoral demands aimed at creating an even political arena for credible, free, fair and unfettered watershed elections in August.

CCC Namibia is jovial following the recent extension of voter registration blitz by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). This followed a clarion call to extend the registration exercise because of the delays and other pauses in the process by the Citizens Coalition For Change through their press conference. Namibia district is busy implementing the effective 1+5 strategy at home and abroad. Citizens in the diaspora are determined to register big, elect big and protect big since most our people are registered voters. We urge all Zimbabweans to go and register to vote for change in August.

It is clear that the future of this nation is in the hands of constitutional democrats and the youths through their revolutionary mandate to register to vote in huge numbers to avert rigging. We encourage change champions in and outside the country to work extraordinarily hard to recruit more voters who will vote ninefold than in 2018 elections to decimate ZANU PF’s electoral shenanigans, and outcompete their rigging antics by having millions of the novel, enthusiastic voters hence defeating voter fatigue and apathy. We must register first, and then fight for political and electoral reforms. The banning of CCC rallies and meetings by ZANU-PFmorons is a clear testimony that the clueless Harare regime has grown scared of a massive voter registration campaign because it will make rigging a mammoth task for these perpetual electoral fraudsters.

Our appeal to fellow Zimbabweans is for them to ‘please’,Go and Register to vote in order to halt senseless looting and corruption. Despite our diaspora vote being a non-negotiable right! We advise our membership to Go and Register in Zimbabwe whilst we are fighting for the Diaspora Vote. What Zimbabweans should know is that participating in elections is one of the key freedoms obtained from the liberation struggle therefore citizens must participate in the national discourse. Through the recently launched 1+5 strategy, which targets more millions of virgin voters, we shall overcome voter suppression. Voter suppression is a strategy to influence the outcome of an election by discouraging or preventing people from exercising their right to vote through assisting voters, intimidation and torture of innocent citizens.

Moreover, it must be crystal clear to social democrats that elections require considerable involvement by the sensitive and sane population, and it takes some time to develop the cultural habit of voting ,and the associated understanding of and confidence in the electoral process. Issues of class, ethnicity and race should not be allowed to negatively affect our voting patterns. Lets register in our astonishing numbers to win Zimbabwe for complete change. CCC Namibia comprehends that there are cultural factors that affect us as voters such as : lack of trust in the satanic government, the varied degrees of partisanship among the population, interest in politics and one’s belief in the efficacy of voting. We should trust our potential to defend the vote if rigged as usual. Social democrats must be dedicated and committed to democratically defend the will of the people using their bodies.

Furthermore, genuine revolutionaries in Namibia are also cognisant of the reason why the Harare regime has targeted the vibrant interim Vice Chairperson, Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala who is languishing in prison for speaking truth to power. This is because of his extraordinary capacity to recruit, mobilize and radicalize voters which has an effect on the voter turnout. Older people tend to vote more than youths, CCC Namibia encourages the millennial generation to register, elect and protect the voter and the vote. ZANU-PF has already pressed the panic button upon seeing our massive registration campaign which calls for more millions of youths as virgin voters in 2023 since they constitute the bigger chunk of the national population(approximately 50%). It is a public secret that ZANU PF has ever won elections freely, fairly and credibly against a political behemoth. Right now, they are refusing to give the stakeholders the much-needed voters roll, all these are clear pointers to rigging and malpractice.

Moreso, nationally conscious Zimbabweans should know that voting is often inconvenient, time-consuming and may even seem void however, it must be noted that voting is a very fundamental and integral part of any constitutional democracy. Citizens should show their appetite to vote for leaders to represent them, their ideas, and the leaders support the citizens’ social, political, religious and economic interests.

Here are our burning reasons why every Zimbabwean should Register to Vote in 2023:
1)Elections belong to the people- be part of the national discourse
2)Voting is a part of independence
3)Choosing not to vote is not rebellion, it’s surrender
4)If you don’t vote , you lose the right to complain
5)The world is run by those who show up
6)Talk is cheap, and voting is free.

In a nutshell, CCC Namibia urges all Zimbabweans to GO and REGISTER NOW! Before the end of the ongoing voter registration blitz on the 26th of March. Voting is our civic right! Let’s work to avoid voter fatigue which by definition is the apathy that the electorate can experience under certain circumstances, one being that they are required to vote too often without positive results.

Salt Intake And Your Heart

A first-of-its-kind World Health Organization (WHO) Global report on sodium intake reduction shows that the world is off-track to achieve its global target of reducing sodium intake by 30% by 2025.

Sodium, an essential nutrient, increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and premature death when eaten in excess. The main source of sodium is table salt (sodium chloride), but it is also contained in other condiments such as sodium glutamate. The report shows that only 5% of WHO Member States are protected by mandatory and comprehensive sodium reduction policies and 73% of WHO Member States lack full range of implementation of such policies.

Implementing highly cost-effective sodium reduction policies could save an estimated 7 million lives globally by 2030. It is an important component of action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal target of reducing deaths from noncommunicable diseases. But today, only nine countries (Brazil, Chile, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Uruguay) have a comprehensive package of recommended policies to reduce sodium intake.

“Unhealthy diets are a leading cause of death and disease globally, and excessive sodium intake is one of the main culprits,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “This report shows that most countries are yet to adopt any mandatory sodium reduction policies, leaving their people at risk of heart attack, stroke, and other health problems. WHO calls on all countries to implement the ‘Best Buys’ for sodium reduction, and on manufacturers to implement the WHO benchmarks for sodium content in food.”

A comprehensive approach to sodium reduction includes adopting mandatory policies and WHO’s four “best buy” interventions related with sodium which greatly contribute to preventing noncommunicable diseases. These include:

Reformulating foods to contain less salt, and setting targets for the amount of sodium in foods and meals
Establishing public food procurement policies to limit salt or sodium rich foods in public institutions such as hospitals, schools, workplaces and nursing homes
Front-of-package labelling that helps consumers select products lower in sodium
Behaviour change communication and mass media campaigns to reduce salt/sodium consumption
Countries are encouraged to establish sodium content targets for processed foods, in line with the WHO Global Sodium Benchmarks and enforce them though these policies.

Mandatory sodium reduction policies are more effective, as they achieve broader coverage and safeguard against commercial interests, while providing a level playing field for food manufacturers. As part of the report, WHO developed a Sodium country score card for Member States based on the type and number of sodium reduction policies they have in place.

“This important report demonstrates that countries must work urgently to implement ambitious, mandatory, government-led sodium reduction policies to meet the global target of reducing salt consumption by 2025,” said Dr Tom Frieden, President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, a not-for-profit organization working with countries to prevent 100 million deaths from cardiovascular disease over 30 years. “There are proven measures that governments can implement and important innovations, such as low sodium salts. The world needs action, and now, or many more people will experience disabling or deadly—but preventable—heart attacks and strokes.”

The global average salt intake is estimated to be 10.8 grams per day, more than double the WHO recommendation of less than 5 grams of salt per day (one teaspoon). Eating too much salt makes it the top risk factor for diet and nutrition-related deaths. More evidence is emerging documenting links between high sodium intake and increased risk of other health conditions such as gastric cancer, obesity, osteoporosis and kidney disease.

WHO calls on Member States to implement sodium intake reduction policies without delay and to mitigate the harmful effects of excessive salt consumption. WHO also calls on food manufacturers to set ambitious sodium reduction targets in their products.

Maritzburg Boss Blasts Referee

Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has sensationally claimed the referee who officiated his side’s defeat to Kaizer Chiefs last night, maybe a fan of Amakhosi, after the late penalty he awarded, decided the contest.

The Team of Choice fought from 0-2 down early in the first half to restore parity before the half time interval, before referee Xola Sitela awarded Chiefs a 71st minute penalty after Ashley Du Preez was brought down in the box.

Yusuf Maart converted from 12 yards to restore Chiefs’ advantage but Davids was not happy at all, with the decision made by the official.

“I just wanted to say maybe the referee is a Chiefs supporter. Maybe a supporter,” said Davids said in his post match interview with SuperSport TV.

In terms of his assessment of the game, Edwards said: “It’s a critical phase of the game, we started very good. On the front foot, creating opportunities and then a counter. Ok, the goalkeeper slips – can happen.”

“But these errors [are] what’s costing us. The fight, the performance, you can’t fault the players, they gave their all,” added the coach.

Exam Registration Deadline Shifted

Parents have praised the Zimbabwe School Examination Council (Zimsec) for extending the June exams registration period for Ordinary and Advanced level from March 15 to this week’s Friday.

Parents and guardians are free to pay the costs with Zimbabwe dollars, rand, or US dollars, according to a statement from Zimsec.

While fees are set in US dollars, local currency payments must be made at the current exchange rate; for this week’s payments, Zimsec is utilising the rate of March 17, which is $1 Oog:US$1.
The warning stated: “Stakeholders and clients must remember that Government subsidies does not apply to candidates retaking any topics, BEAM does not sponsor retake examinations, and applicants should have satisfied the CALA requirements in order to appear for the June tests.
A parent from Ruwa named Ms. Brenda Taodzera praised Zimsec for the additional time.
Zimsec did the right thing by extending the registration period because it gave Ms. Taodzera and her family more time to pay the examination expenses for their kids.
When Mr. Tarusango Mahara of Harare received his pay, he exclaimed.

10 Years In Prison For Stealing Copper Cables

A three-member copper cables gang has been slapped with an effective10 year jail term each after being convicted of stealing copper cables valued at US$1 000 in Gweru’s Woodlands suburb.

The three convicts were sent to prison by Gweru regional magistrate, Mr Christopher Maturure after a full trial.

The trio include Gwerus Copper cables queen mother, Prisca Mupini aged 39 who has been on the Zimbabwe Republic Police radar for quite some time but could not be prosecuted due to lack of sufficient evidence.

The other two are Prince Darawanda aged 28 and Sydney Mungofa aged 32.

Two other accused persons in the case, Perfect Chiromo aged 22 and 23-year-old Christian Nkosana were acquitted at the close of the state case.

The state led by Mr Talent Tadenyika argued that on the 27th of January this year, Darawanda and Mungofa hatched a plan to cut copper cables in the Woodlands suburb in contravention of the Zimbabwe Electricity Act.

The two who were acting on instructions from Mupini then called Chiromo and Nkosana to ferry their loot the following day on the pretext that they had loaded firewood in sacks.

Their plan was busted by an alert police officer who was doing his early morning exercise.

The three who will serve a combined sentence of 30 years were sentenced this Friday.

The government and stakeholders have tightened screws on the theft of copper cables that had seen most parts of the country going for months without electricity due to vandalism.- ZBC News

Cholera Alert

Government on high alert as 13 cases of cholera are recorded

Story by Memory Chamisa

INTRODUCTION of cholera vaccines has been cited as critical in containing the spread of the disease.

According to the results released by the Ministry of Health and Child Care this Friday, a total of 137 suspected cases of cholera have been recorded, with 13 being confirmed.

There were 120 recoveries and 1 suspected cholera death.

The government has since declared 17 districts cholera hotspots, with Chimanimani, Mbire, Chegutu and Masvingo having the highest numbers of recorded cases.

While other neighbouring countries that include Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi have been battling cholera outbreaks, Zimbabwe has managed to contain the spread of the disease.

Health officials have been on high alert, especially in border towns where volumes of human traffic are high.

Health Analyst and Executive Director of the Community Working Group on Health, Mr Itai Rusike cited the importance of cholera vaccinations in controlling the spread of the disease.

“For the prevention of cholera, we need to make sure that there is the provision of safe water because of the rains being experienced across the country, there is a high risk of water contamination,” he said.

“This means, people now need to be extra vigilant in their sources of water by boiling it or using purifying tablets, washing fruits and hands. As we did on typhoid, the mass vaccination blitz, it is the same that must be done for cholera especially in the hotspots to avoid a pandemic. The cholera vaccines will greatly assist in the eradication of the disease.”

Although it is considered a medieval disease, cholera continues to be a major public health challenge.

The outbreaks often follow a cyclical pattern, coinciding with the rainy season.

The government has since set up a Multi-Sectoral Cholera Plan to eliminate the disease by 2028 through the implementation of various measures like Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programmes, in areas that are perennially affected by cholera and typhoid.- ZBC News

Small Scale Miners Strangulated By Lithium Blanket Ban

By Business Reporter | Zimbabwe’s small scale miners are suffering strangulation after the government bottlenecked industry exports.

Henrietta Rushwaya

In an appeal to the govt, the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) president Henrietta Rushwaya said the unexpected Statutory Instrument (SI) 5 of 2023 — Base Minerals Export Control (Unbeneficiated Base Mineral Ores), in particular, in the export of raw lithium ore, had grounded miners’ business life.

In the appeal, she stated that the unexpected ban has prejudiced standing off-take agreements between miners and international buyers some of whom had taken loans from their respective countries to finance trade in these minerals.

Some miners have found themselves stuck with huge stockpiles thus locking Cash Flows and affecting operations, the statement reads.

It continues stating:

The temporary moratorium will unlock foreign Currency earnings to boost market liquidity and expand Government’s revenue base through royalty fee payments and associated taxes.

Establishment of Processing Plants take between 6 months to 12 months to commission. The current market for lithium is outside Zimbabwe and companies need to export the mineral to raise capital to build the plants.

Livelihoods of small-scale miners involved in mining base minerals have been negatively impacted by the ban since the trading of the minerals was halted.

Commenting recently, the Centre for Natural Resource Governance Director, Farai Maguwu says of the Lithium ban in areas such as Mberengwa, Goromonzi and UMP:

“If your own people can extract why do u need a foreign investor? The hard working people of Zim have proved once again that they have capacity to extract mineral resources from the ground to support their families & build their country.

“The only noble thing government shld have done was to support them by regulating their activities. Even better, govt could buy the lithium ore from the villagers, take it to processing plants for crushing and build its own lithium ore stockpiles.

“And now after chasing away villagers who had gathered their lithium, the untouchables are now harvesting the blood and sweat of the poor. This only happens in the gungle where an animal toils to bring down its prey only to be chased by a more powerful predator.”

Herbert Chitepo, Zimbabwe’s First Black Lawyer Made History

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Forty eight years ago on the morning of March 18, 1975, Herbert Chitepo who was a key leader of the liberation movement ZANU, was blown to pieces after a bomb planted underneath his pale blue Volkswagen Beetle exploded outside his home in Lusaka.

Now he lies in the cold earth in the independent Zimbabwe which he died for. His legacy flows in our blood even today.

Herbert-Chitepo

No serious study into the contemporary trajectories, history and politics of Zimbabwe can forego the celebrated influence and the contribution of Herbert Wiltshire Pfumaindini Chitepo, born on June 15 1923 in Inyanga (now Nyanga).

He led ZANU until he was assassinated in Lusaka, Zambia, on March 18 1975.

He was murdered by the British Special Air Services (SAS) as stated by author Peter Stiff.

A SAS member, Hugh Hind, was singled out for the heinous act.

If anything the nation of Zimbabwe is a combination of his ideals and the imaginations of a liberator who sought to advance dreams and hopes associated with a free country with socialist convictions.
Chairman Chitepo was the first black citizen of Rhodesia to become a barrister.

He was not only learned, but very selfless and patriotic.
There is no doubt in my mind that, in general African standards, Chairman Chitepo will have done quite extensively for the material, intellectual, economic and political development of Africa.
He kick-started the removal of arrogance, political intolerance and at worst cultism which was implanted by the oppressor.
As a hero, Cde Chitepo could not banish dangers, but could banish fears.
We mustn’t demean life by standing in awe of death.
Death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity. Eternity…such a small word to describe such a haunting vastness.
And so, we ask ourselves: Will our actions echo across the centuries?
Will strangers hear our names long after we’re gone and know who we were?
Cde Chitepo silently did that.
The hero who lost his life in battle will not soon be forgotten. Those who knew him best will tell stories of his bravery, his heroism, and his sacrifice.
We will talk of how he stood by us through thick and thin, and how he saved others’ lives more than a few times.
We will carry the memory of Cde Chitepo in our hearts forever.
We will celebrate his life and we will cherish the memories of his fierce loyalty, unwavering convictions, and deep, faithful love for the country and for the people.
This hero went from this life, but he is not forgotten; he will live on within us.
His memory will live on through us, and it is our privilege and responsibility to ensure he is remembered forever for how honourably he lived, how bravely he fought and how fiercely he loved.

The wreckage of the pale blue Volkswagen Beetle which was blown up by Rhodesian agents in Lusaka Zambia on March 18, 1975.
It is very difficult to say words in memory to this hero of the beloved Zimbabwe because of what he was and represented.
A feeling of sorrow, an infinite grief catches our throats — sorrow for the loss of the nation yet great joy that we gained so much from such sacrifice.
He went away, the soldier of the highest ideal of human redemption, exiled from his own country, persecuted by the tyrants.
We grieve for those who remained, but in the very depth of our heart, we are hallowed by our feeling of eternal gratitude to what he fought for, lived for and died for.
From all aspects of life, Cde Chitepo came to us like a child of immortal Zimbabwe and in the hardest days of the war, when our being was being trampled and threatened, it was Cde Chitepo, the gallant son of the soil, who helped save the country with his fighting enthusiasm, heroism and spirit of sacrifice.
Today we remember the hero who helped save a threatened country’s freedom and independence – the freedom and independence of our people and yet, profoundly loving liberty and justice, he came and offered himself to us unconditionally.
As we go towards elections this year please remember cde Chitepo. He gave us everything; his youth and his maturity; his science and his experience; his blood and his life, his hope and aspirations and he asked us for nothing in return.
He made history in life and made history in death.
Parents, when the years pass by and the wounds of war are healed; when the memory of the sad and bloody days dissipates in the presence of liberty, of peace and of well being; when the rancours have died out and pride in a free country is felt equally by all Zimbabweans, speak to your children.
Tell them of this man of valour.
We shall never forget Chairman Chitepo.
Long live the hero of Zimbabwe!

Voting Is Everyone’s Duty

Health Alert : Avoid Too Much Salt

Two Women Break New Ground In Zanu Pf Primary Elections Race For Chiredzi

By A Correspondent- For the first time in the history of Chiredzi politics, two female candidates have joined the race for parliamentary seats, unfortunately in the same constituency, as Zanu PF heads for primary elections on March 18, with candidates exploring every little opportunity to elbow each other off the race.

Retired Detective Darlington Chiwa’s former wife, Miriam Dhanda joined the race for Chiredzi West, together with Eustina Magocha, who is in the provincial women’s league.

The two women however face a daunting task in their bid to unseat incumbent MP Farai Musikavanhu.

Dhanda has been with the grassroots ever since Chiwa joined politics after retiring from the police force and she is well versed with the politicking of the area, though in most communities, women are deemed inferior to men which may prove to be their only disadvantage.

Chiredzi West constituency is another seemingly tricky battle ground where Roy Bhila is backing Retired Detective Darlington Chiwa, who was defeated by Musikavanhu during the last primary elections.

South African based flamboyant businessman, Shingirai Mubhoyi is also aiming to represent the ruling party in the same constituency, which might be a mammoth task for him, taking into consideration the ties Chiwa has with the Triangle community with Bhila covering him in the wards which were once in Chiredzi North.

The educator and DCC vice chairperson, Norman Sharara is also battling it out with other titans to represent the party in the forthcoming harmonized elections.

Sharara is one of the oldest party cadres, who at consensus should be given the post on a silver platter if the situation was different.

Some aspiring councillors are pumping money towards their campaign especially in the newly established Chiredzi Central constituency.

Chiredzi district, after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commissions (ZEC) delimitation exercise, was left with five from previously four constituencies namely Chiredzi South, North, West, Central and East with most constituencies having more than three candidates vying for tickets to represent Zanu PF in the harmonized polls set for later this year.

In Chiredzi Central, the most heated constituency, two titans, Farai Musikavanhu, a Former Agricultural Director at Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe (THZ) and currently Chiredzi West Member of Parliament will battle it out with Former Chiredzi Town Council (CTC) chairperson Francis Moyo.

It is still not clear who will make it, though Moyo, a few weeks ago made headlines in newspapers over a Nhamo Commission report, which implicated him in some of the issues which many commented were to the best interest of residents, is seemingly to be gaining ground.

Another geographically big constituency but less populated, Chiredzi South, where Retired Brigadier General Kalisto Gwanetsa is current MP, is still tricky, as part of it was affected by the Dendairy Lucerne project, which may cost him in the upcoming elections as he is poised to battle with former Police Officer and businessman, Joel Sithole.

Only two candidates are also competing in this constituency, with Gwanetsa having an upper hand due to his developmental efforts and good rapport with Zanu PF branches and councillors as compared to Sithole.

Another candidate who might have it easy is Roy Bhila of Chiredzi North who previously garnered close to 50 000 votes during the 2018 harmonized elections. Though the constituency, which was cut both sides into East and West, has no history of retaining a seating MP, the candidates he is facing are presumably weak and cannot match his antics.

Before the delimitation exercise, Shingirayi Mubhoyi, a South African based businessperson was the one who once shook Bhila’s fontanel before he was cut to Chiredzi West.

In Chiredzi North, Bhila will battle it out with Neromwe Chieftainship candidate, Joseph Matumba of the Romwe clan, who is a former Central Intelligence Officer (CIO).

Matumba is not a much threat as he was once completely defeated in the run up to 2018 harmonized elections.

Daniel Mawere, a civil servant is also willing to battle it out with Roy Bhila.

Mawere is currently Zanu PF District Coordinating Committee’s (DCC) Secretary for Information, with ward 20 councillor Yeukai Matsaure also vying for the same post.

In Chiredzi East, all is not well for the former Intelligence Officer, Denford Masiya who has been openly discussed by his royalties that he no longer represents their interests.

Masiya was taking advantage of the Xhangani Community, whose other wards were migrated to Chiredzi South, with the Ndau’s under Chief Gudo also being merged into Chiredzi East, as they are willing to give one of their own Siyaki Mundungehama, DCC chairperson a chance to represent their constituency.

Another former Intelligence Officer and former Provincial Political Commissar Jevas Masosota, is seemingly a better candidate than Masiya, with some allegiance to the remaining Xhangani wards whose interests in Parliament he can represent, will have to face a stiff competition from Mundungehama than from Masiya.

His chances to represent the party are very slim, though he is well popular in the district.

ZimCODD Launches Citizen App

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) on March 16, 2023 launched a new campaign dubbed #TakeAction and an application called the Citizen App which comes after the #HowFar campaign.

In a statement released by ZIMCODD, the #TakeAction campaign is meant to raise citizens’ urgency in demanding for transparency and accountability.

“Zimbabwe continues to face serious public accountability and transparency questions seen through the corruption scandals that break every day. This persistent loss of public resources has caused citizens’ lives to get harder as service delivery becomes poorer and economic indicators continue to fall. The brunt of this crisis is faced by the poor & vulnerable,” read the statement.

The campaign is also meant to bring about citizens and other stakeholders to participate in developing a culture of transparency and accountability.

“The #TakeAction campaign is a call to action for all citizens to raise their agency through demanding transparency and accountability. Beyond asking duty-bearers to account (#HowFar), the current campaign is a call to action for citizens to go the extra mile,” the statement read.

The citizen app enables citizens to upload reports on various issues that require accountability.

“The application receives reports report mismanagement of public resources, service delivery issues, corruption etc.

“Citizens can upload reports, journalists can gather evidence for investigative pieces while public institutions such as the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission & Zimbabwe Republic Police can investigate the reported cases,” read the statement.

The campaign was launched online and the citizen app is available for download on Android devices.

ZIMCODD is a socio-economic justice coalition that was established in 2000 to facilitate citizens’ involvement in making public policy more pro-people.

The #HowFar campaign which was launched in 2021 held duty bearers accountable by asking key questions on accountability.-TellZim

“Equip Women”: ZCTU Tells Gvt

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has called upon the government of Zimbabwe to ensure that women are equipped with the necessary digital skills as a majority of them lag behind especially in marginalized communities.

Speaking prior to the belated commemoration of International Women’s Day set for March 11 (country wide for ZCTU), ZCTU president Florence Taruvinga said it is the duty of government to empower its citizenry especially women.

“This year’s theme (DigitALL- innovation and technology for gender equality) is relevant to Zimbabwean situation as we have more women in informal, rural communities, domestic, agriculture and or even mothers at home who are involved in care work but with no access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and are thus lagging behind.

“The world has gone digital and it is critical for Zimbabwe to empower its citizens,” said Taruvinga.

She went on to say government should join the band wagon to ensure equal access to ICT for both men and women and thus protecting the rights of the latter in working spaces.

“The global theme for 2023 seeks to remind governments, organizations and the global society at large to ensure equal access to ICT skills for women and men as well as protecting and enforcing the rights of working women in digital spaces.

“Zimbabwe has a law that speaks to Cyber and Data Protection Act and this is good but needs enforcement while at the same time the Act should ensure protection of rights of workers in digital spaces especially the marginalized women,” added Taruvinga.

She however took a swipe at government of Zimbabwe for failing to effectively implement laws that safeguard the rights of women.

“Zimbabwe has women’s rights in the constitution, has a Ministry of Women Affairs and Gender Commission to deal with ensuring gender equality and women empowerment. While there have been attempts to accommodate the 60 seats for women in Parliament and good laws that protect women, Zimbabwe is still lacking in enforcement of those rights.

“Women face discrimination, resistance in occupying positions of authority and Gender Based Violence,” she added.

ZCTU this year came up with own theme- ‘A year of Action: building a more equal and inclusive digital society’.

International Women’s Day is an annual commemoration slated for March 8 while the whole of March has been declared women’s month.-TellZim
