Zim Man Jailed In UK For Raping Under Age Girl

By A Correspondent| A Coventry man has been jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of raping a child under the age of 13.

Khumbulani Sibanda was convicted at trial and told he must serve at least 10 years behind bars after abusing the young child.

The “dangerous offender” will spend a further three years on extended licence, or eight if he is released after 10 years in prison. He will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The 43-year-old committed his crimes between 2016 and 2018 but his crimes did not come to light until January 2021.

Detective Constable Suzanne Leah said: “The child was so young, they would not necessarily have understood how badly they were being abused. Sibanda completely took advantage of the child’s young age and innocence for his own sexual gratification, and I am pleased the length of the sentence reflects the severity of his crimes.”

Sibanda, now of Fosse Road South in Leicester, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday (August 24). He was also sentenced to 12 weeks each for sexual assault and exposure, which will run concurrently.

Chamisa Makes a Vow: Even Against All Odds, CHANGE Must Prevail

In a resolute message posted on Twitter, opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has vowed to persevere “even against all odds” in the face of what he described as a “flawed, rigged, manipulated, stolen, and discredited election.”

Chamisa’s message comes as a rallying call to his supporters and fellow citizens who, he claims, “overwhelmingly voted for CHANGE across the rural and urban divide.”

With determination in his words, Chamisa declared, “That CHANGE must happen and be felt. We will not compromise on this! Together, we lead!” The tweet was accompanied by the hashtags #ForEveryone and #Godisinit, indicating Chamisa’s belief in divine intervention and his commitment to representing all citizens.

Chamisa’s statement comes as a response to the controversial election results that have been a subject of contention in recent weeks.

His supporters have accused the ruling party of unfair tactics and electoral manipulation, leading to widespread protests and calls for electoral transparency.

The CCC leader’s unwavering resolve to press for change in the face of adversity has resonated with many of his followers. His call for unity and persistence in the pursuit of a better future has sparked conversations across social media platforms, with supporters expressing their solidarity and determination to see change come to fruition.

SA Robbers Kill Zim Waiter

Two Men Remanded in Custody for Murder and Suspected Stolen Property in Claremont Tragedy.

killed… Raymond Mutasa

  • Two individuals, aged 34 and 61, are to remain in custody pending their bail application on charges related to the possession of suspected stolen property and the murder of Raynold Mutasa (37), a beloved local waiter in Claremont. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, August 24.

According to Lt Col Marnus Fourie, Vispol Commander for Claremont police, the two suspects did not enter a plea when they appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 28. Their legal representatives are expected to consult with them before entering a plea. They will next appear in court on Tuesday, September 12.

Meanwhile, the local restaurant where Mutasa, a Zimbabwean national, had worked as a waiter in Newlands for over two years, has initiated a fundraiser to repatriate his remains to his family in Zimbabwe.

Christina Gorrini, Mutasa’s employer and manager of Mama Roma, described him as a “big teddy bear” and emphasized his popularity and the sadness surrounding his death. She said, “Ray’s warm presence and kind spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He was a pillar of kindness and charm… he never fought with anybody and was simply a wonderful person.”

Mutasa is survived by his 10-year-old son, a sister, and a brother, all of whom live across the border in Zimbabwe.

Gorrini conveyed her message of condolences on Facebook, and she told People’s Post that donations from clients and locals were pouring in to support funeral arrangements and provide assistance to Mutasa’s family. The goal is to raise at least R50,000 to send his remains back to Zimbabwe, considering the expenses involved in preparing the body, placing it in a sealed steel coffin, and transporting it over a considerable distance.

The tragic incident unfolded when Mutasa encountered the two men charged with his murder on the morning of August 24. The suspects allegedly approached him as he was returning to his flat on Frederick Road, and the events that followed led to their arrest.

Local security forces became suspicious when they saw the two men wearing Mutasa’s jacket, which he had been wearing earlier that evening. Claremont Improvement District Corporation (CIDC) security was called to assist, and the suspects were subsequently searched, revealing additional items in their possession, including a watch with a broken strap, a silver chain, and a cellphone.

The following morning, Mutasa’s lifeless body was discovered by security from the Vineyard Hotel in Frederick Road, near a block of flats.

Christina Gorrini encouraged anyone willing to contribute to the repatriation fund to visit her restaurant to help bring closure to this tragic story.- Agencies

Mnangagwa Vows to Resurrect Zim Dollar Amidst Continent-Wide Isolation

Emmerson Mnangagwa whose recent inauguration was notably absent of leaders from across the African continent, except for three Presidents, has boldly declared his intention to resurrect the Zimbabwean dollar. His statements were made during his controversial swearing-in ceremony for his second term in office.

Mnangagwa asserted that the local currency serves as the linchpin for Zimbabwe’s economic growth potential over the next five years. This announcement comes after years of economic turmoil, currency instability, and strained international relations.

Zimbabwe had previously adopted a multicurrency system in February 2009, predominantly using the US dollar, as the nation grappled with hyperinflation and economic collapse, with inflation peaking at a staggering 200 percent in August 2008.

At present, Zimbabwe operates under a dual currency monetary regime, marked by the volatility of the domestic currency due to the strong preference for US dollars, which now account for over 76 percent of transactions.

Mnangagwa’s commitment to the local currency reflects a desire to bolster economic autonomy and sovereignty. Relying heavily on foreign currencies can leave a nation vulnerable and limit its capacity to independently pursue economic policies.

The utilization of local currencies offers greater control over monetary policy, capital flow management, and the protection of economic interests. This autonomy empowers countries to respond effectively to economic challenges and tailor policies to their unique domestic needs, promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Analysts and economists have echoed the President’s sentiments, emphasizing that the country stands to benefit more from its own currency. They stress that measures to boost production are essential for achieving faster and more robust growth.

Christopher Mugaga, President of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), has called for dedollarization as a priority for the new government, making the currency transition a key performance indicator (KPI).

To stabilize the Zimbabwean dollar, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has introduced measures to manage liquidity effectively. Analysts argue that excessive reliance on strong foreign currencies, like the US dollar, can hinder the government’s ability to manage monetary policy and diminish export competitiveness.

Economist Dr. Prosper Chitambara highlighted the importance of value addition and beneficiation to maintain currency stability. While using a local currency is crucial, it necessitates fiscal and monetary discipline to avoid economic instability.

Eddie Cross, an economist aligned with Mnangagwa, emphasized the need to transition to a single local currency for domestic transactions to ensure monetary stability. He also stressed the importance of moving away from raw material exports towards higher-value products.

In conclusion, Mnangagwa’s commitment to strengthening the domestic currency reflects Zimbabwe’s determination to achieve sustainable development while asserting economic autonomy and sovereignty. The nation’s path forward includes enhancing its currency, supporting productive sectors, and cultivating a competitive manufacturing base. However, it does so against a backdrop of regional and continental isolation, emphasizing the challenges Zimbabwe faces on the international stage.

14. Thabo Thipe, 54
15. Ramaisa Dipholo, 36
16. Juliet Mugabe, 27
17. Tshilidzi Maluleke, 36

Five of the deceased were originally from Zimbabwe, while the remainder hailed from Gauteng and Limpopo regions. The process of identifying the remaining two victims is still ongoing, as confirmed by Hawks spokesperson Matimba Maluleke.

Initially, authorities reported that 18 suspected cash-in-transit robbers had been killed in the shootout. However, a further body was discovered at the scene on Saturday, altering the total count.

The incident transpired after law enforcement responded to intelligence about an impending cash-in-transit heist. It is believed that the suspected robbers were preparing to carry out the heist in the Makhado area when they detected police surveillance. In response, they opened fire, leading to a prolonged and intense 90-minute shootout.

Simultaneously, another team of officers apprehended five individuals at a residence in Thohoyandou, who are believed to be linked to the suspected robbers in Makhado. These individuals have been identified as Asanda Maqhawu, 33; Charity Makhwedzana, 34; Ramabele Peta, 47; Vusimuzi Ramabekae, 51; and Sillo Mposi, 48. They have since appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court and face a range of charges, including possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and fraud.

The court has postponed the matter to October 3, 2023, to allow for further investigation into this tragic incident and its associated developments.- News24

Create the SADC Dollar, Demand a Rerun of Elections in Zimbabwe, and Defend African Sovereignty

By Divine Mafa | To the Leaders of the SADC Region and Our Fellow Africans,

We write today with urgency and unwavering resolve, driven by our deep concern for the future of Africa. Our primary objective is to emphasize the urgent need to create a SADC dollar. This proposal is of paramount importance and presents a vital opportunity for our region to secure its sovereignty, prosperity, and self-determination.

Zim dollar in 1980 – file pic

**Creating the SADC Dollar**: Our foremost concern is to advocate for the creation of a SADC dollar. This initiative demands our immediate attention and action. The establishment of a SADC currency is a critical step towards realizing our economic independence and safeguarding our future.

**Demanding a Rerun of Elections in Zimbabwe**: In addition to the SADC dollar, we demand a rerun of elections in Zimbabwe. Recent elections in Zimbabwe serve as a stark example of foreign interference. The constitutional crisis and allegations of rigged elections on August 23rd, which even international observers deemed not free and fair, cannot be ignored. These issues have been deliberately orchestrated to subject Zimbabwe to BRICS influence.

**Illegal Financial Contributions**: It is alarming to note that illegal campaign contributions, totaling up to $3 billion, were used in the elections in Zimbabwe. Debit cards, disguised as membership cards, were given to supporters, allowing them to receive cash secretly. This clandestine operation is a grave violation of our democratic processes. As noted by international observers, such activities eroded the credibility of the polls.

**Challenges to Zimbabwe’s Economic Recovery**: Zimbabwe’s economic crisis and political instability, as highlighted by international observers, have adverse consequences not only for Zimbabwe but for the entire region. The region’s deep-seated economic crisis could potentially plunge the whole region into turmoil.

**A Call to Hold BRICS Accountable for Manipulating Elections**: While we emphasize the creation of the SADC dollar, the demand for fair elections in Zimbabwe, and the exposure of illegal financial contributions, we cannot ignore the significant role played by BRICS nations, particularly Russia and China, in the political turmoil and manipulation of elections within Zimbabwe and across the African continent. It is imperative to address this interference in our democratic processes.

**A Corrupt Partnership**: BRICS, once seen as potential partners, have become architects of chaos, undermining the democratic processes of African nations. We must recognize that they are not our allies in any way, shape, or form.

**Reclaiming African Leadership**: It is time for us, proud Africans, to reassert our leadership and sovereignty. We must boldly stand up for Africa’s interests and future. We reject any attempts to exploit our region for their geopolitical gains.

**The People’s Resolve**: We want to make it abundantly clear that Zimbabwe and other African nations will not stand idly by. Our citizens are resolute and prepared to take action. We are not merely making suggestions; this is a demand, a warning.

**Growing African Solidarity**: Our organization, comprising 100,000 brilliant Africans worldwide, is rapidly expanding, becoming the fastest-growing movement in Africa. The message is clear: we cannot be underestimated. We are united in our demand to break free from BRICS, create the SADC dollar, demand a rerun of elections, and restore Zimbabwe now, after 43 years of hardship and struggle.

The time for action is now, and we urge our leaders to heed this call. Zimbabwe and Africa must no longer be pawns in foreign agendas. We must prioritize our sovereignty, demand a rerun of elections, create the SADC dollar, and determine our own destiny.

Sincerely,

WaMwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa

The Essence of Pan-Africanism: A Historical Perspective and Contemporary Relevance

By Divine Mafa | Pan-Africanism is a dynamic ideology rooted in the historical experiences of the African diaspora. It encompasses a broad spectrum of political, social, and cultural movements aimed at uniting people of African descent worldwide. This essay delves into the history of Pan-Africanism, its pivotal figures, and its contemporary significance, with a focus on dispelling misconceptions.

Historical Context:

Pan-Africanism emerged during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a time when the African continent was enduring colonization and exploitation by European powers. The African diaspora, particularly those residing in the Americas and the Caribbean, were deeply affected by the horrors of slavery. This shared history of oppression and exploitation fostered a sense of unity among people of African descent.

Key Figures in Pan-Africanism:

1. **Marcus Garvey:** Marcus Garvey is often considered one of the early pioneers of Pan-Africanism. He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and advocated for the return of Africans to their ancestral homeland. Garvey’s “Back to Africa” movement inspired a generation.

2. **W.E.B. Du Bois:** Du Bois, a prominent African-American scholar and civil rights activist, played a significant role in Pan-Africanism. He organized the Pan-African Congresses in the early 20th century, providing a platform for discussions on African self-determination and the end of colonialism.

3. **Kwame Nkrumah:** Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, was a fervent Pan-Africanist. He believed that African nations should unite to achieve true independence from colonial powers. His leadership in the decolonization of Africa set a precedent for the continent.

Contemporary Relevance:

In the present day, Pan-Africanism remains highly relevant. While colonialism in Africa has ended, the legacy of exploitation and inequality persists. The movement serves as a reminder that people of African descent, regardless of their geographic location, share a common history and must support one another.

Moreover, Pan-Africanism aligns with the pursuit of democracy and human rights. Contrary to misconceptions, it is not an ideology of hate but one of solidarity and empowerment. People of African descent in the United States, for instance, have made significant strides in politics, education, and culture. The presence of Black Americans in leadership positions demonstrates the progress achieved over time.

Conclusion:

Pan-Africanism is a powerful ideology rooted in the shared history of people of African descent. It has evolved from its historical roots to become a force for unity, empowerment, and the pursuit of justice in today’s world. By dispelling misconceptions and embracing the principles of solidarity, Pan-Africanism can continue to inspire positive change for the benefit of all.

It is my distinguished honour and privilege to be addressing you my fellow Countrymen and Women as well as friends of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe at this auspicious occasion. Allow me, on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe, my Party ZANU PF, and indeed on my own behalf and that of my family, to express my deep gratitude for the kind messages of congratulations we have received following our elections.

In the same spirit, I warmly welcome the various delegations, from the SADC region, Africa, and beyond, who are joining us today for this inauguration ceremony. Your presence attests to the long-standing solidarity and support, Zimbabwe has enjoyed from the progressive members of the comity of nations which date back to the days of our protracted 16-year war of liberation for our Independence and freedom.

The 2023 Harmonised General Elections have come and gone. I once again thank you, my fellow Zimbabweans, for dutifully preserving and safeguarding our national unity and peace, before, during and after the elections. Ndinokutendai mhuri ye Zimbabwe. Ngiyalibonga muli yeZimbabwe.

As Zimbabwe, we have demonstrated that we are a mature democracy. The people of this precious nation, which is born out of the sacred blood of those who fought for our independence, freedom, democracy and indeed the right to vote, have spoken.

Our unparalleled conduct before, during and after the electoral processes is praiseworthy and will be an everlasting standard and benchmark as we continue to deepen and entrench constitutional democracy in our country. There are no losers, but a victory for the people of Zimbabwe against neo-colonial and hegemonic tendencies of our country’s detractors and those who believe that “might is right”.

Counter-revolutionary forces and their proxies will never prevail in our free mother country, Zimbabwe.

Let us now look ahead with unflinching focus and determination, emboldened by our rich history as a resilient, warrior people.

We continue to defy the onslaught of the illegal sanctions as well as the negative narratives peddled by those bent on stunting our country’s development.

Our strength in our diverse cultures, capacities and competencies has seen us realise unprecedented successes towards Vision 2030.

Zimbabwe is surely on the rise. Our national development philosophy, Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatigwa, nevene vayo, Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo, shall continue to be the beacon of our pro-people policies, anchored on Pan-African values and norms. This philosophy sums up our sovereignty as well as the collective duty and obligation we have to develop our country and the African continent.

Fellow Compatriots;

Today, I have once again taken an oath as a humble servant leader and President, committed to wholeheartedly serving you all, the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe.

Under this renewed mandate, I have re-committed to continue faithfully upholding and defending our sacred national Constitution and laws, with integrity and impartiality, leaving no one and no place behind.

I stand before you my fellow Zimbabweans, at this historic moment of our nation as President of all Zimbabweans, regardless of tribe, religion, colour, creed, or political persuasion. I am honoured by the trust and confidence you have reposed in me to continue to serve in the office of President. Through your democratic vote, you have renewed and extended my mandate and that of our colossal revolutionary mass Party, ZANU PF.

I offer to you, individually and collectively, unity, love, oneness and brotherhood, as the people of the great, unitary and independent state of Zimbabwe.

Fellow Compatriots, Comrades and Friends;

My new Government will deliver on the promises we have made to you. The transformation of the living standards of our people, especially those in rural communities, will be accelerated, while the concerns of those in urban areas will not be neglected.

Responsive policies, projects and programmes, which begun during the first term of my Presidency are on course to lift many more people, out of poverty and into prosperity.

The hurdles such as the illegal, heinous sanctions and machinations of our detractors must be knocked out of our way through unity of purpose, hard honest work, innovativeness, resilience, focus and determination. Together as a united people, all challenges can be overcome; brick by brick, stone upon stone, and step by step.

The ongoing success milestones in the agriculture sector will be consolidated during this new term under my leadership. To date, we are food secure in both maize and wheat. All the agriculture sub-sectors have realised unprecedented growth. I commend our farmers as well as stakeholders in the agriculture sector for these achievements. This is indisputable evidence of the success of our Land Reform Programme and the responsive pro-people policies of the Second Republic.

Going forward, my new Government will prioritise guaranteeing this momentum through household and national food security.

The construction of dams, accelerated irrigation development, coupled with the ongoing borehole drilling programme, in every village and school, is set to insulate our agriculture sector from climate change induced weather fluctuations.

Vulnerable districts and areas are now the critical focus.

Rural Development will be implemented at full scale through robust rural agriculture industrialisation models.

This will result in our 35,000 villages country-wide, having productive agro-based companies, owned and run by the benefiting communities. The programme will see a multi-fold increase in rural incomes and sustainable livelihoods.

Concurrent with this thrust is the setting up of rural industries and systems designed to process, value add, beneficiate as well as export agricultural produce. Untapped opportunities exist for more of our people to penetrate the global markets and value chains through quality ‘Made in Zimbabwe’ goods and products.

The success of our agriculture sector has ripple effects to our agro-based manufacturing sector and Industrial base.

The factories that we all desire can only succeed if there is the requisite through-put from agriculture and mining, among other sectors. Therefore, I call upon us to respect each other as a united people, no matter where we live or our economic activities.

Comrades and Friends;

The past five years have delivered valuable lessons on our intricate economy, especially the fact that a national currency that is supported by a vibrant productive sector is indispensable to sustainable development. No country has ever developed without its own currency. Further, we can only develop and grow the economy based on our own internal resources.

I urge us all to believe in ourselves and our abilities, as Zimbabweans and Africans. Development and national prosperity based on what we have is more sustainable and durable. We must take pride in who we are and what we can do for ourselves.

The numerous mineral resources in our country must be sustainably exploited to leap-frog our industrialisation and development. The lives of our citizens and the fortunes of our country as a whole must be improved. We expect nothing less.

Our economy must realise maximum benefits from increased beneficiation and value addition. As such, my new Administration, through the Responsible Mining Initiative, will ensure greater stewardship over our finite natural resources. These must benefit both present and future generations.

Riding on our abundant resources, as well as skilled and hard-working people, Zimbabwe is poised to take its place as a competitive manufacturing jurisdiction.

I exhort industry and commerce stakeholders to be patriotic and always seek an intricate balance between profit and the plight of our people. Profiteering, opportunistic tendencies and greed, will not move our country forward.

Together, let us grow our country’s manufacturing base, to use, consume and wear what we produce.

The new Government shall continue to foster a predictable business environment, where capital is safe. Those who want to invest in our country are welcome, based on respect and mutual benefits, for shared prosperity.

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The modernisation of our national infrastructure, utilities and amenities will continue unabated. Transport inter-connectivity within provinces and further linking us to the rest of the SADC region and the Continent are a priority.

The internal capacities and local skills in road construction that have been developed over the last five years will be deployed to further modernise our road network.

Agreements and investments to modernise, repair and expand our rail system will be consummated to allow urgent revitalisation of the sector.

Water is life and a solution not only to sustainable food security and sovereignty but also for the water and sanitation needs of our fast growing urban populations. During the last five year-term, my Administration delivered energy self-suffiency to our country. Courtesy of our comprehensive, strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China, Hwange Unit 7 and Unit 8 are now on stream.

We will now move on to upgrade Hwange Unit 1 to Unit 6, among other national strategic power generation stations.

Additional work is continuing towards broadening our energy mix, inclusive of renewable energy, to increase the total energy output, in tandem with the demand created by our fast growing economy.

The recovery and growth of the tourism sector in the post COVID-19 pandemic era, is testimony that Zimbabwe is a safe and competitive tourism destination. The joint marketing of brand Zimbabwe with both regional and continental partnerships is critical to sustain growth in the sector.

The economic role of SMEs, women and youth, as key players in our quest to realise Vision 2030 is set to receive due attention.

My new Government shall further consolidate the achievements in the health and education sectors for quality health delivery and education, especially for those in our country-side. Resources will be availed to equip and modernise the numerous schools and clinics constructed during the last five years. The requisite resources will be channelled towards the commercialisation of start-ups developed in our Innovation Hubs and Heritage-Based Education 5.0. Industrial Parks under

Matters related to housing delivery, water sanitation, among other social amenities remain key to the modern, empowered, and prosperous Zimbabwe we all want and deserve. I call upon those elected at the local government levels to wholeheartedly serve the people of our great country.

Our citizens, especially those in urban areas have endured poor service delivery for far too long. Rate payers deserve hard working and competent local authorities who will ensure that our towns and cities

regain their long-lost pride and lustre, through world class service delivery.

Going into the future, those in the arts, sports and creative cultural industries will be supported to express their talents. However, the fraternity is called upon to promote and protect our Zimbabwean values, African culture as well as our Christian-oriented family traditions and norms. Never use the arts or media to promote self-hate and divisions in our nation.

Meanwhile, I express my profound gratitude to our traditional leaders, who are the custodians of our land and culture, together with the religious community who joined the crusade to preach peace, love and harmony in our nation. The institution of traditional leadership and freedom of worship will continue to be protected by my new Government.

Comrades and Friends;

Under my leadership and the new ZANU PF Government, democracy, good governance, the rule of law and the politics of tolerance will be entrenched, in line with the spirit and letter of our sacred national Constitution and laws.

We make no apologies for entrenching and protecting our unique Zimbabwean values, cultures and norms. In this regard, I challenge us all to remain Zimbabwean and African, in both thoughts and deeds.

Zimbabwe is a sovereign state and “a friend to all and enemy of none”. Our membership and engagement within SADC, the African Union and United Nations and other countries in the comity of nations remain guided by the principles of mutual respect and the sovereign equality of nations, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

The undermining of our national institutions and laws will not be condoned, under whatever guise. No country or group of persons should disregard the sovereign decisions and views of the people of our motherland, Zimbabwe.

We will never be second class citizens in our own country. We stand ready to welcome those nations who want to work with the new ZANU PF Government to build lasting partnerships to make the world a better place.

We look forward to joining both traditional and emerging global institutions who accept our hand of friendship.

The architecture and composition of the United Nations Security Council must be reformed to reflect democracy at a global level as well as the equality of nations.

Our country is committed to playing its part for the realisation of global peace and security, anchored on dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflict.

Fellow Zimbabweans; Comrades and Friends;

In concluding, allow me to once again commend, you the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe, for the successful, watershed, peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible Harmonised General Elections.

We have shamed our detractors who predicted and clandestinely financed mayhem, expecting the worst from us, before, during and after our polls.

The will of the Zimbabwean people has been expressed and must be respected.

In unity we have defended this sacred land, bequeathed to us by our great heroes and heroines.

They paid for the democracy, independence and sovereignty we are enjoying today, with their precious lives. This thunderous victory for our sovereignty, dignity and right to be masters of our own destiny is in their honour.

In the enduring spirit of unity and peace that characterised this past election, I once again call upon all Zimbabweans to say no to violence, tribalism, regionalism, hate speech and other divisive tendencies. Peace, love, harmony and tolerance are in our DNA as a people.

Let us now turn our focus back to our collective duty and obligation to build, modernise and industrialise our country.

The quality of life of our people, from Zambezi to Limpopo, from Plumtree to Mutare must be improved. That duty lies with us all, as Zimbabweans, both here at home and in the Diaspora.

No one else will build our country. No one should ever come from elsewhere to govern our country.

We have the primary responsibility to offer supplications and prayers for our country. We must do all these ourselves. This is who we are, as the great people of Zimbabwe.

Under the new ZANU PF Government and my leadership, rest assured that you, my fellow Zimbabweans and compatriots; boys and girls at home and abroad, shall continue to be at the centre of all our policies, projects and programmes.

We remain, forever; a Government from the people; by the people and for the people. The future of our great motherland, Zimbabwe, is bright.

Long live our freedom.

Long live our democracy and independence.

Long live our unity and peace.

God bless Zimbabwe. God bless you all.

I thank you.

Comrades and Friends.

Fellow Compatriots;

Fellow Compatriots, Comrades and Friends;

Comrades and Friends;

President Chamisa Denounces Zanu PF Terror

Tinashe Sambiri

The CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has castigated the Harare regime for unleashing terror against defenceless citizens.

Addressing the media after visiting injured CCC members Womberaiishe Nhende and Sonele Mukhuhlani at a private clinic, President Chamisa condemned Zanu PF hooliganism.

In a statement CCC said :

Today, President #NelsonChamisa visited the youth task force members, Womberaishe and Sanele at a local hospital in Harare.

The two are victims of abduction and torture by the regime in Harare. The regime’s actions, including the arrests of the lawyers representing them, have created a somber atmosphere in post-election Zimbabwe.

It is evident that there is no freedom after making a choice, even after a flawed and fraudulent election conducted by ZEC.

Comrades and Friends;

Fellow Zimbabweans; Comrades and Friends;

Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatigwa, nevenevayo, Ilizwe lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo.

Warriors To Play Home Matches Outside Country

The country’s senior men’s national soccer team —the Warriors, will play their 2026 World Cup qualifiers outside Zimbabwe, amid revelations that no stadium in the country is among the arenas cleared by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the matches.

Zimbabwe recently returned to international football community after FIFA lifted the suspension imposed the country and appointed a Normalisation Committe tasked with running the affairs of ZIFA until next year.

But all stadiums in the country were condemned by CAF for not having set international standards.

The ongoing renovations at the National Sports Stadium have not been completed on time and giant facility is not among the facilities listed to host matchday 1 and 2 of the qualifiers for the global spectale.

Matchday 1 qnd 2 of the qualifiers will be played between 13-21 November 2023.

Zimbabwe are in Group C, together with Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Benin and Lesotho.

The Warriors will travel to Rwanda on matchday 1, before hosting the Super Eagles of Nigeria on matchday 2.

The Warriors will most likely play their home matches in South Africa, as the Rainbow nation has seven stadiums approved to host the qualifiers —FNB Stadium (Johannesburg), Orlando Stadium (Johannesburg), Mbombela Stadium (Neispruit), Royal Bafokeng Stadium (Rustenburg), Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban), Cape Town Stadium (Cape Town) and Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth).

However, the list of approved stadiums, according to CAF, is only for matchday 1 and 2, meaning the Warriors can still play home matches in the campaign, if the National Sports Stadium passes future inspections by the continental governing body.-Soccer24 News

Zim Dollar Crashes Just After Mnangagwa Inauguration

By-The Zimbabwean dollar has weakened against the United States dollar (USD) at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s wholesale foreign exchange auction held on September 6, 2023.

The USD was sold at a rate of ZW$4,647.9681, compared to ZWL$4,604.62 on August 29, 2023. This follows previous rates of ZW$4,571.29 on August 21 and ZW$4,573.77 on August 18.

The majority of foreign currency obtained from the auction was utilised for purchasing raw materials, followed by machinery and equipment.

While the Zimbabwean dollar has been strengthening against the USD in recent months, this latest development indicates a shift in the trend. Authorities attribute the strengthening of the Zimbabwean dollar to the government’s implementation of measures to stabilise the economy and the local currency. These measures included restricting foreign currency in local transactions, and making the Zimbabwean dollar the sole legal tender for certain domestic transactions like taxes. This resulted in a reduction in money supply in the market. However, this reduction has been viewed by some analysts as intentional hoarding by authorities to create an artificial shortage.

Although the Zimbabwean dollar has shown recent stability, its long-term sustainability remains uncertain. Previous attempts to reintroduce the local currency have been met with limited success due to a lack of public confidence following the hyperinflation experienced in 2008 and subsequent policy changes resulting in monetary losses.

There are predictions that the local currency may further devalue after the recent harmonized elections held on August 23-24, 2023, which saw the ruling ZANU PF party secure victory. The future role of the United States dollar in Zimbabwe’s currency system also remains unclear.

In his inauguration speech, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he was going to strengthen the Zimbabwean dollar.

Mining Practical Lessons

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of

In “Business”
causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more .

Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay …

tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .

Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost .

Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

Fellow Compatriots;

Fellow Compatriots, Comrades and Friends;

Comrades and Friends;

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi Dams, which are set to meet the needs of Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan Provinces, are scheduled to be completed soon.

Comrades and Friends;

Fellow Zimbabweans; Comrades and Friends;

CCC: To Boycott Parliament Or Not?

By Tawanda Muchehiwa| I have seen significant chatter on the Twitter timeline suggesting that CCC should boycott parliament.

This idea is flawed, in my view!

My belief is that such a move will solely benefit ZANU PF, which already lacks a majority in parliament. The idea of a 100% ZANU PF parliament is a nightmare!

There are some who argue that the participation of our MPs in parliament questions their legitimacy. However, let’s consider this analogy: Imagine you have a flock of ten goats, and thieves manage to steal seven, leaving you with only three. Would it be fair to label those remaining three as illegitimate? Would it make sense to allow the thieves to take away the rest without resistance? While the election may have been fraudulent, it actually highlights the exceptional nature of our 103 MPs who defied a corrupt system and emerged victorious!

While boycotts can be powerful, their effectiveness depends on having the upper hand or dealing with sensible people. Unfortunately, ZANU PF is not sensible, especially with establishments like MYANC on their side. They seem indifferent.

The @CCCZimbabwe MPs and councillors fought tirelessly to secure those constituencies, investing thousands and earning thousands of votes. It is crucial for the party not to let down their supporters who voted under very difficult circumstances!

Instead, we should occupy our positions and push for a free and fair election in other avenues. Safeguard the 3 and fight for the 7.

Deserting our strongholds is not an option in times like these!

Lastly, the party has been stripped of everything, from an outsider looking in, the party needs those MPs. Institution building is crucial at this point!

Godfrey Gandawa’s Open Letter To Mnangagwa

Futures Past and Present: Congratulatory Open Letter to the Architect of Zimbabwe’s Tomorrow

Dear President Mnangagwa,
As I write this letter from my place of exile, a status not without its roots in the actions and inactions of your government, I extend cautious yet necessary congratulations on your recent re-election. This event arouses a complex medley of emotions, coloured by the years I’ve spent away from home, the tumultuous events of my 2018 Bhora Musango Campaign, and a narrowly-escaped assassination. Despite these personal complexities, the urgency of our national situation compels me to rise above my grievances, however reluctantly, and focus on the broader well-being of Zimbabwe—a future that now rests squarely in your executive control, itself precariously balanced.

While my congratulations come with reservations, they serve a critical purpose: to fortify the tenuous framework of our democracy and judiciary, which remain the ultimate arbiters of power and dispute. To those who share my grievances, I urge reflection on this stance. The alternative risks entrenching us further in a system increasingly impervious to democratic oversight and even to the authority of its own executive—a system that you, Mr President, were instrumental in crystallising, most notably in the events of 2017.

While irregularities have sadly become a recurring theme in our elections, what transpired during the recent polls was distinct in its audacity and execution. These were not mere lapses but a calculated orchestration aimed at discrediting the electoral process and sowing public doubt. Delays in ballot deliveries were far from accidental; misleading posters about opposition withdrawal were deliberate manipulations; and overt threats of violence were an unabashed exercise in intimidation. In sum, these were not the shortcomings of a disorganised system but the deliberate machinations of a faction within it, successful in discrediting the process.

Yet here lies the irony: despite your integral role in creating this system, it appears you have found yourself in a curious discord with a segment within it—a faction acting seemingly independently of your executive oversight.

The aim of these actions is clear: to stoke and exploit public discontent as a stepping stone to seize power, bypassing democratic channels. The key to neutralising this threat lies in addressing the public’s grievances. I propose that three areas are crucial for this endeavour:

1. National Unity, Ruling Party Cohesion and Historical Atrocities
Mr. President, both our divided nation and ruling party demand unity. Internal strife within your party, chiefly over succession, exacerbates tribalism, regionalism, and nepotism, leaving our social fabric frayed. Regrettably, even criminals have found more favour in your generosity than your political opponents in global exile. Your final term offers a rare opportunity for reconciliation. A special amnesty, paired with a 15-year-sealed Truth Commission, could lay the groundwork for a harmonious future.

Electoral trends in Bulawayo serve as a revealing barometer of public sentiment. Your relative underperformance, when compared to local MPs and councillors, points to unresolved historical grievances. Given your past role in security matters, it would be improper for you to oversee reconciliation.

The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) was constitutionally established under Zimbabwean law [section 251(1)]. Its mission, delineated in section 253, includes post-conflict justice, healing, and fostering national unity. However, its mandate expired on August 21, 2023. It falls within your purview to enact legislation either extending the NPRC or instituting a new body for the same purpose, thereby allowing a future administration unburdened by association to conclude outstanding matters.

2. Security Sector and Chapter 9 Institutions Reform
The integrity of our security forces is essential for the democratic vitality of our nation and, indeed, the stability of your presidency. The majority of our security personnel conduct themselves with commendable professionalism, beyond reproach. However, the malign actions of a rogue section, involving abductions, murders, and torture, have cast a dark cloud over their collective reputation.

The tragic death of Doug Munatsi, bearing the hallmarks of a professional execution, underscores this urgent need for change.

Implementing consequential reforms is not just a matter of public interest but is becoming
increasingly crucial for the sound governance of your own administration. It may be worth
considering the establishment of a specialised unit, akin to Germany’s GSG 9 or France’s RAID. This elite cadre, governed by an unassailable framework of political independence and rotating leadership, would meld intellectual acuity for information awareness and sharp assessments, technological supremacy for optimal operational effectiveness, and lethal prowess for unambiguous deterrence, all while being vigilantly accountable to an independent oversight committee and fortified by international collaborations.

3. Resource Exploitation, Land and Economic Equity
The untapped promise of our abundant resources has scarcely served the broader populace, a deficiency glaringly evident in the vexing land disputes in Chilonga and Mutoko. These conflicts erode our national values. If external investors claim the lands harbour immense economic potential, they must, in all fairness, assume the fiscal responsibilities for adequate relocation, equitable compensation, and a share in future profits for the community. Anything less would echo the injustices of the colonial era.

Despite the commendable expansion in our mining sector, the benefits have not trickled down to the general population, thus highlighting the need for a comprehensive, interconnected strategy. Once a topic for intellectual debate within Zanu PF, the time is ripe to reevaluate our economic framework.

While seeking investment remains a priority, due recognition must be given to the land’s communal value. These aims are not mutually exclusive with fostering a business-friendly atmosphere.

A transparent and technologically advanced procurement system could serve as the linchpin for the economic rejuvenation our nation so urgently requires.

At first glance, one might construe this missive as provocative. However, the discerning eye will find herein a committed plea for the betterment of our homeland. The euphoria that swept the nation in 2017 was not merely an indictment of past governance but a hopeful glance towards a promising future—one that still lies within the grasp of your administration. It suggests that the people of Zimbabwe have no qualms with you, personally; they yearn for a leader with the keys to that future.

We find ourselves at a crucial juncture, a moment pregnant with possibilities and fraught with peril. Your tenure has the potential to be a defining period in our history, with a critical five years ahead. It’s an opportune time to revisit the pledges of yesteryears, not as distant dreams, but achievable objectives.

Congratulations anew, with reservations intact.

Harare Serial Killer Nabbed

By A Correspondent- A 20 year old serial killer has been arrested for eight gruesome murders in Harare and Bulawayo where he killed unsuspecting victims, boiled their body parts and ate the flesh.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu (20) alias Sauro, was linked to five murder cases committed in Harare between August 28 and September 4 this year where he targeted the homeless in the capital city.

He allegedly committed three other murder cases in Bulawayo in 2020.

“The suspect who is believed to be living on the streets would target street kids who will be fast asleep and crush them and open the victims’ stomachs to remove genitals and other body parts using broken bottles,” Nyathi said in a statement.

“The suspect would then boil the human parts on any open fire and consume them, while in the Harare central business district.”

Nyathi said Ndlovu was caught on September 4 along Rotten Row, Harare after he tried to attack another street kid.

“On being arrested it has been confirmed that the suspected is positively linked to the five murder cases which occurred on August 28, 2023 at the corner of George Silundika Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street, Harare, on September 1, 2023 at the corner of Innez Terrace and Robert Mugabe Road, Harare, on September 3, 2023 at the corner of Nelson Mandela Avenue and 7th Street, Harare and on September 4, 2023 at the corner of Cripps Road and Remembrance Drive in Harare,” Nyathi said.

The suspect is also linked to three murder cases in Bulawayo.

In January 2020, he crushed a victim’s head in Bellevue using a brick after he found him asleep in his yard.

In December 2020, the suspect crushed a victim’s head in Makokoba after finding him asleep on the roadside.

He again crushed another victim’s head using stones at Sekhusile shopping centre, Nkulumane, after finding him asleep on a pavement before fleeing to Harare.

“The suspect is also facing charges of attempted murder and has a warrant of arrest for the robbery case which occurred in Milton Park, Harare, in June 2021,” Nyathi said.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has not found any evidence linking the recent murder cases committed by the suspect to ritual killings.

“The police reassures the public that enquiries are still being conducted to find out the real motive behind the suspect’s conduct and if he acted alone or not,” said Nyathi in his statement.

Meanwhile, Hwedza killer cop Jaison Muvevi was yesterday declared unfit to stand trial and has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

Muvevi, who faces four counts of murder and two attempted murder charges, claimed that he was mentally unfit and asked to be medically examined.-newsday

Dutch Mentor Says World Cup Rigged

Louis van Gaal has claimed that last year’s World Cup in Qatar was rigged in order to help Lionel Messi finally lift the trophy.

Messi led Argentina to their first-ever World Cup trophy since 1986, beating defending champions France in the final through a penalty shootout at the Lusail Stadium on December 18.

The game had ended 3-3 after extra time with Messi’s brace and Angel di Maria’s strike cancelled out by Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick.

Van Gaal, who coached the Netherlands at the same World Cup, believes that the tournament was rigged so that Messi could finally win the trophy that had always eluded him.

The veteran coach told NOS: “I don’t really want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it was a premeditated game.”

The 72-year-old added: “I mean everything I say. That Messi should become world champion? I think so, yes.”- Soccer24 News

G-40 Resurfaces, Dominate Mnangagwa Inauguration

By- On Monday, several members of the Zanu PF’s G-40 faction, including former First Lady Grace Mugabe, attended President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration.

Grace Mugabe, accompanied by her daughter Bona and Robert Mugabe Junior, was met with cheers from the crowd, indicating that the former First Family still holds a measure of public support.

Considering the circumstances surrounding her husband’s departure from the political scene, where he was “forced” to resign following the military’s intervention and the dismissal of Mnangagwa as Vice President, it was uncertain whether Grace would attend the event. Bona had previously attended Mnangagwa’s initial inauguration, while Robert had been seen at various ZANU PF rallies.

When Grace approached the podium and embraced Mnangagwa, the stadium erupted with noise, creating an impression of reconciliation and potentially signalling her endorsement of Mnangagwa as the leader of the nation in Southern Africa.

Former Vice Presidents Phelekezela Mphoko also attended the event.

Dr Pedzisai Ruhanya, a Zimbabwean academic, journalist, and political commentator, said the return of former G40 members to ZANU PF after Mugabe’s ousting reveals the political dynamics within post-ED ZANU PF. He said:

The trooping back to ZANU PF of former G40 members after the coup against Mugabe as seen at the inauguration of President Mnangagwa and some’s appearances in media spaces controlled by the government indicate post-ED ZANU PF political dynamics.

Some speculate that Grace Mugabe attended the event due to concerns that any misstep could lead to investigations into her family’s “ill-gotten” wealth. Additionally, there is an ongoing divorce case involving her daughter Bona and Simba Chikore, therefore, Mnangagwa could possibly influence the outcome. Joyce Mujuru’s attendance is seen as a move to protect her interests, as she became vulnerable after her husband’s mysterious death. Some say Phelekezela Mphoko’s presence may be an attempt to influence his son’s rape case, as Siqokoqela was convicted and sentenced for raping his 12-year-old niece but is currently out on bail pending an appeal.

How Zanu PF Blocked 2 Million Voters

Due to lack of voting material, over 2 million urban residents were denied their right to vote.

Zanu PF coerced tens of thousands to vote for them. Our polling agents were attacked and 106 of our meetings and rallies were banned. Our members, such as @JobSikhala1, were jailed without bail.

ZEC refuses to release the presidential results by polling station.

This election was a fraud and a sham. We will not let them steal our future. We demand #FreshElectionZW – CCC

Mnangagwa has defied all to present fait accompli sworn government. It’s incumbent on all that he fails.

By Wilbert Mukori

Well, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has defied SADC and AU who condemned the 23 August 2023 election process as a flawed and illegal process that could not produce a legitimate. He has gone ahead and staged his inauguration and present the world with a Zanu PF government fait accompli. What is the world going to do about it?

The short answer to that is: Mnangagwa must not be allowed to get away with his arrogant disregard of the rule of law. Zanu PF has got away with rigged elections since the country’s independence, 43 years ago, turning Zimbabwe into the textbook failed state; this madness must now be stamped out.

SADC and AU election observers said Zimbabwe’s 23 August 2023 elections were not free, fair and credible pointing out such glaring flaws as ZEC’s failure to produce something as basic as a verified voters roll. The truth is the observers were pointing out well documented the flaws and illegalities it was impossible for Zanu PF and its supporters to deny the flaws and illegalities much less refute the conclusion that it was impossible for such flawed and illegal election process to produce a legitimate result. Impossible!

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies tried to get discredit the SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) report by mounting a ferocious attack on  Dr  Never Mumba, the SEOM head – a typical Zanu PF dirty tactic of attacking the messenger since they could not dispute the message. When that failed, the regime brought in SADC Panel of Elders in the hope they would water down the SEOM report. That too failed.

In the end Mnangagwa decided to ignore SADC and AU condemnation of the election and declare himself and his regime legitimate. His 4 September inauguration present the world with a fait accompli Zanu PF government! The question is what is the world going to do about it?

SADC and AU leaders have stand firm by their reports condemning the elections  and refuse to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy. Most of the SADC and AU leaders did not attend Mnangagwa’s inauguration, signalling their disapproval. They must follow this up by withdrawing their cooperation with the regime and imposing sanctions.

Zimbabwe’s opposition must not take up their seats in parliament to deny the regime any modicum of legitimacy and feel this can ever be business as usual. It is the very least these sell out opposition leaders can do.

Lest some people should ever forget, Zimbabwe is still stuck in this political mess of rigged elections precisely because MDC/CCC leaders not only sold out by failing to implement even one democratic reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections but have compounded the situation by insisting in participating in these flawed elections out of greed.

Neither Zanu PF nor the sell out opposition should profit from the political paralysis in Zimbabwe today. Even more significantly neither should play a role in the way forward, They failed to implement even one token reform during the first GNU, it is naive, to say the least, to expect them to do any better.

Both SADC and AU played a major role in denying Zanu PF political legitimacy following the 2008 elections resulting in the formation of the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The people of Zimbabwe we must accept we let ourselves down by failing to force Zanu PF and MDC leaders to implement all the democratic reforms. We failed to give SADC our full backing when the regional leaders tried to get the reforms implemented.

This time, we must not be found wanting in giving both SADC and AU our full backing in demanding an end to Zimbabwe’s curse of rigged elections and bad governance. We have a real chance of having a new GNU and a chance to finally get the democratic reforms finally implemented, we must not waste it!

SA was over represented at ED’s illegal inauguration, ANC vowed to stop regime change, SA must remember that.

By Wilbert Mukori: Only three or so SADC heads of State and Government out of a possible 15 attended Mnangagwa’s inauguration. There were heads of State and Government from the rest of Africa or further afield. For one very good reason – it is widely accepted that Zimbabwe’s 23 August 2023 elections were flawed and illegal, so much so the process could not produce a legitimate winner.

There is nothing new in Zimbabwe’s elections being condemned, one would argue. The EU, Americans, Commonwealth and most other western election observers condemned Zimbabwe’s 2018 elections, for example. Well these 2023 elections were different in that Zimbabwe’s regional and continental bodies, SADC and AU, known for rubber stamping Zanu PF’s rigged elections in the past; led from the front in condemning the 23 August 2023 elections.

A select group of SADC Panel of Elders were invited to come to Zimbabwe last week to meet with the SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM), minus the mission’s head, Dr Nevers Mumba from Zambia. The purpose of the Elders was to sweet talk SEOM into watering down their damning report so the process can produce a legitimate result.

After a week of quiet diplomacy the SADC Panel of Elders left Zimbabwe without saying anything. SEOM’s damning report stood!

So proclamation of Emmerson Mnangagwa as President of Zimbabwe was null and void since the 23 August 2023 election process was declared so flawed and illegal it could not produce a legitimate result. The 4 September swearing in ceremony was illegal and in defiance of SADC and AU’s pronouncement on the matter.

Whilst many SADC, AU and other nations shied away from the Mnangagwa swearing in ceremony the one country that did not shy away was SA. President Cyril Ramaphosa, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula and many other ANC government/party officials were there. When the history of the last few months is final known and written it will be no surprise to know that ANC played a major role in trying to get the SEOM report censured to secure Zanu PF legitimacy.

SA’s ANC led government has emerged as Zanu PF regime’s staunchest  supporters, particularly in the last two or three years. Last year in November the party resolved that it would not allow regime change in Zimbabwe, an outrageous resolution since this is ordinarily the exclusive right of the Zimbabwe electorate in a free, fair and credible elections.

Of course, President Ramaphosa and his ANC colleagues were aware that with not even one token democratic reform implemented since the rigged 2018 elections it was certain Zanu PF would once again rig the 2023 elections. The message from ANC to Zanu was clear enough, “You go ahead and rig the 2023 elections and we will see to it that Zanu PF is granted political legitimacy!”

There is no doubt that ANC government was shocked and disappointed by both the AU and SADC’s damning reports of Zimbabwe’s elections. But why is this ANC government bending over backwards to keep Zanu PF in power?

After all SA did play a major role in forcing Zanu PF to accept the 2008 GNU after both SADC and AU had condemned that year’s elections process just as they have done again this year. What has changed?

Put simply, ANC is fighting to stop regime change in Zimbabwe for selfish reasons.

After 30 years of ANC rule, South Africa is well on its way to becoming just another failed African state. Zimbabwe’s status as a failed state is well established and confirmed, after decades of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule. And the root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and political paralysis in the country’s failure to hold free, fair and credible elections; the nation has been stuck with the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF for 43 years.

The ANC government knows the cure to Zimbabwe’s failed state is for the country to break the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. The SEOM damning report has denied Zanu PF political legitimacy is giving Zimbabwe a second chance to get the democratic reforms necessary to end the vote rigging finally implemented. President Ramaphosa know all this but are standing in the way by imposing the Zanu PF regime on Zimbabwe for purely selfish reasons.

ANC is worried that if the people of Zimbabwe are able to finally booted Zanu PF out of office because the 23 August elections were free and fair or by denying Zanu PF legitimacy because the party rigged the elections; this would encourage South Africans to seek regime change too in that country’s next year, 2024, elections. The temptation to seek regime change would be overwhelm if Zimbabwe’s economy was to register any signs of economic recovery – the very thing SA would want to stop their own 30 years slide in become another failed state.

Many South Africans have become increasingly aware of the sinister role ANC has been playing in propping up Zanu PF to the economic detriment of Zimbabwe, South Africa and the whole SADC regime. South African will soon know that ANC attended Mnangagwa’s inauguration prop up the illegitimate regime and in defiance of SADC and the AU. Zimbabweans will see to it that are aware of these facts especially when they vote in next year’s elections.

This Mnangagwa regime is illegitimate and both SADC and the AU must not relent on this. If Zanu PF was to be deprived of the political backing of ANC government because the party was booted out of office, this Zanu PF regime will collapse if it should last that long!

“We Make No Apologies”: ED

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has shot back at the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)’s decision to seek the intervention of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) in Zimbabwe’s August 23 and 24 poll dispute.

This week CCC said it decided not to challenge Mnangagwa’s re-election through the country’s courts because the crisis in Zimbabwe was not a legal issue, but a political one. The crisis has escalated tension between the opposition party and Mnangagwa’s government.

Speaking at his inauguration for a second term at the National Sports Stadium yesterday, Mnangagwa said: “The undermining of our national institutions and laws will not be condoned, under whatever guise. No country or group of persons should disregard the sovereign decisions and views of the people of our motherland, Zimbabwe.”

CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa is fervently pushing for Sadc’s mediation in the Zimbabwean crisis after dismissing last month’s elections as a “gigantic fraud”, which the Sadc and other foreign observer missions also condemned as failing to meet regional and international standards.

“We make no apologies for entrenching and protecting our unique Zimbabwean values, cultures and norms … Zimbabwe is a sovereign State and a friend to all and enemy of none. Our membership and engagement within Sadc, the African Union and United Nations and other countries in the comity of nations remains guided by the principles of mutual respect and the sovereign equality of nations as enshrined in the United Nations charter,” Mnangagwa said.

Sadc countries appear divided over the election outcome with the head of the regional body’s observer team Nevers Mumba maintaining that the elections deviated from the Sadc guidelines and local constitutional provisions.

The divisions appeared evident after several heads of State from Sadc, African Union and the rest of the world  were conspicuous by their absence at Mnangagwa’s inauguration, while some countries were decent enough to send representatives.

Sitting Sadc Troika chairperson Hakainde Hichilema did not attend the inauguration. He sent his Foreign Affairs minister Stanley Kakubo.

Three heads of State out of the 67 invited attended the ceremony.

South African President Cyril Ramaposa was joined by his Mozambican and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) counterparts, Felipe Nyusi and Felix Tshisekedi, respectively.

Kenya, Eswatini and Tanzania sent their prime ministers while Botswana was represented by the country’s vice-president.

Mnangagwa promised to be tolerant to the opposition and promote democracy and the rule of law, which have been sticking issues in his first five-year rule.

“Under my leadership and the new Zanu PF government, democracy, good governance, the rule of law and the politics of tolerance will be entrenched in line with the spirit and letter of our sacred national Constitution and laws. The institution of traditional leadership and freedom of worship will continue to be protected by my new government,” he said.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration event, South African’s ruling party, African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Fikile Mbalula endorsed Mnangagwa’s victory saying Zimbabwe is a sovereign country.

“We had an election in Zimbabwe that was not marred by violence and was peaceful. We know what Zimbabwe want is prosperity and also regional integration.

“We are opposed to any form of sanctions on this country. As the ANC party, we respect the will of the people and sovereignty of the country. We know what imposition of unilateralism has done to nation States like Iraq and Afghanistan,” he said.

Mbalula said the United States’ position on the elections and their outcome was invalid as they were no saints on matters of elections.

“America is not the world police. We do not take advice from them and they cannot force us to reform because they too have their own problems,” he said.

Meanwhile, former First Lady Grace Mugabe received a standing ovation from the crowd gathered for the inauguration.

Former Vice-Presidents Joyce Mujuru and Phelekezela Mphoko also attended the event.-newsday

Mineshaft Collapse Claims 1

A 28 year old man died after a mineshaft collapsed at Lawrence Mine, Makwe in Gwanda, Matabeleland South province.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena identified the deceased as Jetro Nyathi. She said the accident happened on Friday last week while Nyathi was conducting illegal mining activities in the company of two others.

“On September 1, Nyathi got into a mineshaft about six metres deep and started panning for gold. The shaft collapsed and trapped him,” she said.

“He had gone with his two friends who then sought assistance from others and removed him already dead. The matter was reported to the police.”

The developments come a few weeks after several miners died at Inyathi Mine in Matabeleland North when a mineshaft also collapsed. “We urge members of the public to do their mining activities from legal mines as engaging in illegal mining is not only risky but a criminal offence,” Mangena said.

According to an Environmental Management Agency sample survey conducted this year at 49 illegal mining sites across Zimbabwe, approximately 1 000 hectares have been degraded due to illegal mining.

Gold Ore Thief Nabbed

By A Correspondent- Police have arrested a 36-year-old male suspect believed to be part of a gang of armed robbers that pounced on a mine in Inyathi, Bubi District, on 18 August, reported the Chronicle.

The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Nyoni, from Emthunzini in Umguza District was hauled before the Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza on Thursday, facing charges of armed robbery.

Nyoni was not asked to enter a plea and was remanded in custody until 14 September awaiting trial.

Prosecutor Nkanyezi Xaba told the court that on the night of 18 April, Nyoni, who was in the company of several other suspects who are still at large, raided the mine. Said Xaba:

On August 18 at around 8 pm, the accused person in the company of Collen Mawisire, Usher Moyo, Marshall Dube, Zenzo Nkiwane, Trust Moyo, two others only identified as DK and Shepherd and one identified suspect who are all still at large, armed themselves with knobkerries, axes, hammer and machete and raided the complainant’s mine.

The gang allegedly attacked the complainant, disarming him of his loaded revolver containing three rounds of ammunition. Added Xaba:

They stole his identity card, NSSA card, CBZ bank debit card, and a cellphone.

They took one of his trucks and drove to the gold processing plant where they loaded the gold ore and drove off.

The Inyathi area, rich in gold, has experienced a surge in robberies in recent times.

In January 2023, two soldiers and their three alleged associates robbed a local businessman at gunpoint, making off with both cash and a truck.

The soldiers were clad in military attire and brandished AK-47 service rifles.

Photojournalist Explores History of Mbira

By A Correspondent- Photojournalist Bornwell Choga says the authentic history of mbira has not been fully established due to suppression arising from religious misconception despite the mbira instrument beind widely played.

Choga fully appreciates efforts by Zimbabwean first-generation scholars such as Paul Berliner, Kwabena Nkekia, Hugh Tracey and most recently Albert Chimedza’s Mbira Institute to explore the mbira narrative.

He also acknowledged other legacies from such performers as Mudavanhu Magaya, the late Ambuya Stella Chiweshe, Chiwoniso Maraire, Beaulah Dyoko and Hope Masike who have helped build a new mbira music narrative.

Zimbabwe has several types of mbira instruments which include, but are not limited to nhare also known as mbira dzavadzimu, matepe, njari and nyunganyunga.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Choga revealed that he is working on two books Faulata-A Girlchild Memo and James Tsindi-Ancient Mbira Voice as well as a poetry collection My Journey of Words.

Choga’s maiden book is Kubva Muguruva, which is a biography of legendary gospel musician Baba Machanic Manyeruke.

“My mbira research tries to investigate the origin of mbira, the spirituality of the mbira instrument, its importance to the Shona African people and the different mbira types,” Choga said.

“As I was carrying out my research, I spoke to spirit mediums who confirmed what I had been told earlier on by one mbira maker that mbira was discovered by some people who had gone to bath and as they took a bath they enjoyed the reverberation of mbira music which was coming from the waters

They looked around and saw a unique instrument floating on water and playing music on its own. This was in Guruuswa, Tanzania, where several Bantu tribes originated from and migrated to settle in several parts of southern Africa and thus accounting for the presence of mbira music in Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.”

He continued: “Years later, through dreams, boys in the community started making mbira musical instruments.

“As the people migrated from Guruuswa, mbira was used to call ancestors to dispense solutions, advice, and guide and give directions to the living. Mbira is the conduit between the living and their ancestors and today it is a common instrument at night vigil parties better known as biras in Shona.”

Choga noted that several districts in Zimbabwe have their own mythical stories on mbira music which are all important in the preservation of the Zimbabwean Cultural heritage.

He said his effort was meant to raise awareness that several ethnic groups have their own narrative about the origins of mbira and the spiritualism attached to it must not be related to music making because the mbira musical instrument is scientifically made.

Choga, who at one time converted to christianity and withdrew to pursue journalism, believes all ethnic and individual efforts can result in patents for perfect industrial export quality mbira and resultantly a refined teaching method.

“Any music instrument is traditional in one way or another and the more people are taught about the instrument the more it becomes enjoyable and appreciated by communities without any religious or ethnic attachment to it,” he noted.

Choga stressed that heritage or cultural teaching is important, but the methodology and perceptions remain different.-newsday

ZANU PF Goes After ZANU Members Who Voted Chamisa

ZANU PF Initiates Crackdown on Party Members Accused of Voting for Chamisa

The ruling ZANU PF party has reportedly launched a wide-ranging operation to identify and punish party members who allegedly voted against President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa in the just ended 2023 elections. The targeted are accused of “kicking the ball into the bush,” following revelations that some party members received more votes than Mnangagwa himself during the August 23 and 24 elections.

According to Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) figures, Mnangagwa garnered fewer votes than certain ZANU PF National Assembly candidates, with a discrepancy of 144,680 votes. These figures have sparked concerns within the party leadership, leading to the witch-hunt.

In a departure from party directives, several parliamentary and council candidates surpassed Mnangagwa’s vote tally, winning in constituencies where ZANU PF was instructed not to secure more votes than the President-elect. The discrepancy between Mnangagwa’s victories in 127 constituencies and ZANU PF’s triumph in 136 has ignited internal strife.

One alleged victim of this crackdown is Robert Nyebudzo, a ZANU PF official from Manicaland, who has been charged with “bhora musango.” This term, which gained prominence in the 2008 elections, refers to a strategy where ZANU PF supporters voted for local party candidates while intentionally voting against the party’s presidential candidate, the late Robert Mugabe.

Nyebudzo’s arrest follows the defeat of Enock Porusingazi by Clifford Hlatshwayo of CCC in Chipinge South. Porusingazi initially lost the party’s primary elections to Nyemudzo, who was subsequently disqualified. However, Porusingazi assumed the party candidacy and allegedly won with the support of the “bhora musango” strategy.

In a statement from the ZANU PF Manicaland leadership, Nyemudzo has been summoned for a disciplinary hearing over accusations of sabotaging the party. The letter accuses him of funding the “bhora musango” tactic in Chipinge South, celebrating ZANU PF’s loss.

Tawanda Mukodza, ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairperson, emphasized the importance of discipline within the party and stated that the purge aimed to eliminate those who undermined Mnangagwa during the elections.

The situation has drawn analysis from experts, with some suggesting that Mnangagwa’s less-than-impressive performance in terms of votes compared to his party candidates indicated his limited popularity within the party. Analysts pointed to factional disputes, imposed candidates, and the economic crisis as potential factors contributing to the party’s internal divisions and Mnangagwa’s unpopularity.

As tensions rise and the internal struggle within ZANU PF continues to unfold, the future of the party remains uncertain, leaving observers and citizens alike to await further developments.- Agencies

ZIMRA Launches 30-Day Voluntary Disclosure Offer

In a bid to promote tax compliance, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has introduced a 30-day voluntary disclosure offer targeting individuals and firms who have underreported revenue in their tax submissions. The initiative is aimed at encouraging taxpayers to rectify their tax discrepancies by disclosing additional revenue related to properties valued at US$100,000 or more, purchased assets, luxury vehicles, gold trading, private jets, and more.

ZIMRA emphasized that the voluntary disclosure offer provides an opportunity for taxpayers to come forward and meet their tax obligations without triggering audits. Taxpayers are required to provide detailed schedules outlining outstanding taxes, complete pending tax returns, and settle the owed taxes or arrange payment plans with the authority.

The voluntary disclosure window is open for 30 days from the date of the announcement, after which non-compliance cases will be addressed in accordance with the law. Taxpayers who fail to take advantage of this opportunity may face penalties and interest charges, as specified by law.

ZIMRA highlighted several categories of taxpayers who are eligible for the voluntary disclosure, including individuals who have constructed houses valued at US$100,000 or more, those involved in gold trading and mineral sales, luxury vehicle owners, private jet owners, and agents of Zimbabwean manufactured goods.

The disclosed taxes encompass various types, such as Value Added Tax (VAT), Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and PAYE (Pay As You Earn). While the voluntary disclosure offer provides a temporary window for taxpayers to rectify their tax discrepancies, ZIMRA reiterates the importance of meeting tax requirements for income earned through business or trade.

Individuals and companies interested in participating in the voluntary disclosure offer are urged to submit their applications to the nearest ZIMRA offices within the 30-day timeframe. The authority emphasizes that timely action is crucial to avoid potential legal consequences.

As ZIMRA launches this initiative, it signals a concerted effort to foster greater tax compliance and accountability within Zimbabwe’s economic landscape.

Hon Mureri Salutes Masvingo Residents

VICTORY IN THE WILDERNESS: AN EPISTLE TO THE PEOPLE OF MASVINGO URBAN CONSTITUENCY

01 -09-2023

Dear Masvingo Urban Constituency

As I sit down on my chair, behind the wooden table with my face cupped by tired hands, I write to you the people of Masvingo Urban Constituency not so much in happiness nor not so much in sadness but anguish. I came to you to ask for your support during the campaign period and moment, all souls and hopes were engrained in the anticipation for a New Zimbabwe, a dream that most of you shared with me and resonated well as outlined in my Manifesto, which you all endorsed on the day of plebiscite.

Overwhelmingly, you expressed your choice by Voting for all the 7 Masvingo Urban Councillors. Overwhelmingly, you voted for me as your messenger to the August House of the 10th Parliament. Overwhelmingly , you voted for my president Adv Chamisa Nelson as your 4th President of the Republic Zimbabwe. This sealed the fate of Masvingo Urban decision, compounded by the loins and groins of a not so good environment and electoral cycle but a seasonal plebiscite in the name of democratic elections.

We set the PARALLEL TABULATION CENTRE for the Constituency after receiving intelligence of a manipulated poll ahead of us. We invited the students community and academics to mann our command centre, which was a hive of activity few days before poll, on the polling day and post polls. The Command Centre had all the manpower needed to defend the looming victory, Reaction Teams, Data Capturers, Information gurus, Roving Agents, and political demagogues not forgetting the caterers. The role of ward Chief election Agents and Councillors remained above par, there is always a God in heaven.

A Deployment was done with full training of equipped agents, robust background checks was done to all the Techno 1s who were trained towards the counting procedures and more importantly the need to stand on the Principle pillar against evil machinations by the regime to steal our victory using the weaker exit points by the regime. Ludicrous was the regime with its surrogates which after failing to bribe our agents had to turn polling stations into Zanu Pf Cell meeting points where voters were expected to register their names at the point of entry and marked names at the point of exit, this never happened during the history of our motherland but the regime stooped so low to bring it’s intimidation tactics in the CBD.

I remembered a table was code named Exit Poll Survey was stationed at Civic Centre polling station ward 9, another table was behind the polling station at Rujeko Admin ward 7, infact every polling station had such tables. Our reaction team deployed from the Command Centre had running battles the whole day clashing with the team at these polling stations. The worst move was when the table was moved from civic center to the Beitbridge Bridge Highway in the midst of the road, all this aimed at sending intimidation message to anyone who would vote for CCC, the effect was that some faint hearted members returned back home and refused to vote amid this callous acts by the regime.

I could feel my tears rolling down my cheeks, I felt for the ordinary Citizen in Bvukururu, Mukwirimba, Matsai, Chiremwaremwa, Nyarumwe, Zengeya, Gedhe Maranganyika, Muvava, Manyuchi, Mushambanevhu, Chisheche, Mushayavanhu, Silverdale, Tongogara, Shindi, Mandambabwe, Peter Peregwe, Chavasikana, Mukazi, Matedzi, Chibwedziva, Matandamaviri and realised that this so called election was no an election but a process by the regime to rubber stamp their hegemonic agenda in the name of periodic election.

I felt the deep pain within me and asked myself the reason for participating in such a scam and shameful process predetermined by antics and perpetrators of previous heinous crimes. The whole country was turned into a war zone and the atmosphere could tell that this is not the Zimbabwe that Lookout Masuku wanted, this was not the Zimbabwe that led to the demise of Hebert Chitepo, could this be the Zimbabwe that Tungamirai fought for against Smith? Definitely, not. I do not want to recall the events of the day and this shameful election because even during the highest level of madness in Africa, no such paradigmatic disjuncture was ever done against the ethos and constitutional provisions by any country in the name of reclaiming power, not even Sudan nor Uganda in the madness of Museveni.

I did not win the election when the masses lost, I did not win the election when my people are crying, I did win when there is nothing to smile about , I did not win when we don’t have tallying results, it is not all about my personal Victory in the wilderness but the win for everyone. The mood in this country could have been telling that Zimbabwe has won, a deadlock is looming, the wilderness is ahead of us, dark cloud is upon us, but for the record there is no victory for Masvingo Urban Constituency without national victory. There is no victory for Martin Mureri without the victory of President Chamisa Nelson. I shall be guided by the ethos, resolutions, principles, and guidelines of the party as guided by the citizens who are the custodians of this revolutionary trajectory , a fundamental pillar of citizens driven initiative.

Your vote shall never be in vain, your support shall never be wasted, I shall remain indebted to you, my fellow compatriots as we receive the way forward and an unfolding conundrum of this nation, where we are going to stand tall and walk amongst a generation of my people on the highway to change.

This victory in the wilderness shall forever stand as sign post of a looming Canaan. Victory In The Wilderness

Israelites wandered in the wilderness fir fourty years not because Canaan was too that far, the Pillar of fire and cloud determined their road map and pace of travel. We have wandered in the wilderness for so long, we have stayed in the plains for too long, I invite the people of our motherland to stand on the touch line as we wait for the unfolding events during the few coming weeks.

Signing off, I did not write this letter celebrating the befitting victory you gave us in Masvingo Urban Constituency, I did not write this letter in jubilation nor in the perchance of my stature as an MP Elect of Masvingo Urban Constituency, but a lone voice in the wilderness, the yesteryear defender of human rights, the voice of the dejected masses of our people, the voice of the downtrodden, the voice of the victims of political chicanery and machinations, that yesteryear voice shall get louder and louder now that it is bestowed with a mandate from you people of my motherland, I am writing to promise that I shall be with you, I will be amongst poor men and women in our streets , the thank you message shall come, the citizens caucuses shall come, the model of development we so wish in this Constituency shall be laid and tabled to you.

Chamisa On Fresh Mnangagwa Fight

By- The opposition leader, CCC, Nelson Chamisa, has assured his supporters that help was underway.

Chamisa rejected the presidential election result, alleging rigging after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) declared President Emmerson Mnangagwa the winner with 52.6% of the vote against his 44%.

Chamisa has reportedly deployed aides Jameson Timba and Gladys Hlatswayo to regional countries seeking support for fresh elections.

Posting on X on Sunday, having stayed away from the social media site formerly called Twitter for about five days, Chamisa added a Bible verse to his declaration. He wrote:

HELP IS ON THE WAY…Be of good cheer Zimbabwe !! ‘He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the LORD’s hand is powerful, and so you might fear the LORD your God forever.’ Joshua 4:24.

ZimLive quoted CCC spokesman Promise Mkwananzi as saying that there was no need for the party to approach the “biased” courts to challenge the election result. He said:

Several of our court appeals meant to ensure that the election would not be disputed were turned down.

Would the court be comfortable in being perceived as an appendage of a political party rather than a credible station of dispute resolution as enunciated by the Constitution?

It is our view in CCC that the court ought to extricate itself from this dangerous perception and uphold its independence and responsibility as encapsulated in our constitution.

Reports suggest that judges were paid US$400 000 each just before the elections. Before the payouts, Mnangagwa and ZANU PF amended the constitution to stop Chief Justice Luke Malaba from retiring after reaching the age of 70.

Zimbabwe: Mnangagwa’s inauguration marred by arrests, abductions and torture of political activists.

4 September 2023

Zimbabwe: Mnangagwa’s inauguration marred by arrests, abductions and torture of political activists.

Responding to the inauguration of Emmerson Mnangagwa for his second term as President amid a political climate of fear and reports of multiple human rights abuses, including arbitrary arrests, abductions and torture of opposition party activists, Khanyo Farisè, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for Southern Africa, said:

“President Mnangagwa’s inauguration for his second term as President has been severely blighted by reports of attacks against opposition party activists and threats against those trying to organize peaceful protests amid a growing  crackdown on human rights, especially the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association.

“Nobody should be persecuted simply for exercising their human  rights. Everyone, regardless of their political affiliation, should be able to freely participate in peaceful activism without fear of abduction or harm. The Zimbabwean authorities must immediately stop issuing inflammatory statements that could incite attacks against  political activists, human rights defenders and other people.”

“The authorities also must ensure a peaceful post-election environment by fully respecting,  protecting and ensuring the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly, association and expression. They must also conduct prompt, thorough, impartial, independent, effective and transparent investigations into pending cases of enforced disappearances, abductions, and torture. Those suspected of responsibility for these crimes must face justice in fair trials. Victims and their families must be provided with access to justice and effective remedies.”

Background

On 26 August 2023, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission announced that President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the ruling ZANU PF party had secured re-election after gaining a majority of votes.

Cases of arrests, abduction, assault and torture have been reported both during and after the election. On 2 September 2023, Womberaiishe Nhende, the elected Councilor for Glen Norah Ward 27 in Harare, was abducted and tortured before being dumped on the outskirts of Harare.

Nhende was also among a group of individuals who were seriously injured during skirmishes with Zanu PF activists that led to the death of Tinashe Chitsunge, a political activist for the opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), on 3 August 2023.

Grace Mugabe Photo-Bombs Mnangagwa’s Inauguration

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Former First Lady Grace Mugabe made a striking appearance at Emmerson Mnangagwa’s controversial inauguration ceremony on Monday. The date of the ceremony, falling exactly 69 months and 30 days after his speech, carried significant historical weight. Mnangagwa’s own self-exposure as a former Rhodesian spy who did not participate in the bombing of any train during the Chimurenga war, as revealed in his court documents, was juxtaposed against Mrs. Mugabe’s allegations that he attempted to forcefully remove his boss, Robert Mugabe, during the 1980 independence.

Witnesses were taken aback as Mrs. Mugabe, accompanied by her daughter Bona who recently went through a divorce, entered the National Sports Stadium. Despite her presence, she remained silent and enigmatic. Her appearance holds immense symbolism, representing her unwavering resistance against the accused Rhodesian spy, Mnangagwa, before, during, and after the November 2017 military coup.

While some may interpret her presence as an endorsement of the controversial leader, it could also signify a defiant stance against Mnangagwa’s leadership. The legitimacy of his electoral victory was called into question by prominent African observers, including the South African Development Community (SADC) electoral observer mission. This suggests that Mrs. Mugabe’s appearance might hold a deeper meaning beyond face value, contributing to the ongoing political discourse surrounding Mnangagwa’s rule.

As the nation watches and speculates about the implications of Mrs. Mugabe’s unexpected attendance, one thing remains clear: her presence has injected an additional layer of complexity into an already intricate political landscape. The former First Lady’s actions and motives are poised to captivate the nation’s attention as the story continues to unfold.- ZimEye

“It’s an open public secret”

By Wilbert Mukori- “It will not be the start or the end of the world if Zambia’s President Haikainde Hichilema does not attend tomorrow’s inauguration,” stated Professor Jonathan Moyo in his recent article.

“Whether President Hakainde Hichilema attends the inauguration tomorrow is entirely up to him, no big deal. The proposition that the inauguration will have no legitimacy if he does not attend is wholly absurd and preposterous.

“The Zambian President is only that, the President of the Republic of Zambia. He is not the President of SADC, not even the President of SADC’s Organ Troika on Politics, Defence and Security, but only the current Chairperson of the Organ.

Yes, of course, it will not be the start or end of the world if President Hichilema do or does not attend President Mnangagwa’s swearing-in ceremony. Only a fool would suggest otherwise.

Indeed, it will not matter one bit if all or none of the other SADC leaders attend the ceremony.

“It’s now an open public secret that, as  the Chairperson of the Organ, President Hichilema appointed Dr Nevers Mumba in bad faith to head the SADC Election Observation Mission [SEOM] which made an outrageous Preliminary Statement on Zimbabwe’s 2023 harmonised general election which is full of untested hearsay, has an inconclusive conclusion, which is not supported by the statement’s hearsay narrative, and makes recommendations that are not in any way related to its scurrilous conclusion,” continued Professor Moyo, finally getting to the meat of his bitterness against President Hichilema.

Professor Jonathan Moyo has been fuming and frothing about the SEOM’s report ever since its release. The report state obvious things like the failure by ZEC to produce something even as basic as a verified voters’ roll, the widespread intimidation, etc.

SADC had known about all these flaws and illegalities all along and hence the reason why the regional body wanted Zimbabwe’s 2013 elections postponed until the reforms addressing these concerns were implemented. Sadly, Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC leaders ignored the warning and participated in the 2013 elections with no reforms.

Zanu PF went on to rig the 2013 elections and SADC, in sheer despair, went on to grant the vote rigging Zanu PF political legitimacy.

Initially, Tsvangirai and company vowed they would not participate in future elections without first implementing the reforms. Greed got the better of them and they participated in the 2018 elections with not even a token reform in place. SADC, once again turned a blind eye to all the glaring flaws and illegalities and granted Zanu PF legitimacy.

Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friend and the rest of the opposition decided to participate in these 2023 elections knowing fully well the process is flawed, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw”, as David Coltart, CCC Treasurer General and soon to be crowned Mayor of Bulawayo, admitted in his book. They also knew participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. And still they soldiered on for the same reasons they had failed to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU – greed and breath-taking incompetence.

Professor Jonathan Moyo, President Mnangagwa and many in the SADC region including Chamisa and his CCC friends, expected Dr Nevers Mumba and his fellow SEOM members to follow the now well trodden path of seeing no evil, hearing no evil and saying no evil and thus endorse the 2023 as “substantially free and fair”.

SEOM condemned the elections as flawed and illegal and, per se, cannot produce a legitimate government was totally unexpected. Everyone knew the process is flawed and illegal and SEOM was supposed to ignore it!

Well the die has been cast, the gene is out of the bottle, SADC’s own election team has admitted the elections were flawed and illegal; the truth is out and it cannot be denied or put back in the bottle. Many wanted Zanu PF to continue rigging the elections and granted legitimacy regardless for their own selfish reasons.

For Zanu PF rigging the elections was the only sure way for the regime to retain its iron grip on power. After 43 years of enjoying absolute power and all the benefits that brings Mnangagwa and company are addicted to power, giving it up has become unthinkable.

For Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends they failed to implement even one reform during the GNU. They have since given up on reforms and settled for participating in flawed elections for whatever spoils of power they can force from Zanu PF. Zanu PF has had to given up some gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate for the sake of getting some political legitimacy.

SA’s ANC ruling party vowed to grant vote rigging Zanu PF political legitimacy to ensure there is no regime change in Zimbabwe. ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula, like Professor Jonathan Moyo have accused President Hichilema and those seeking free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe of seeking regime change for the purpose of removing Zanu PF and all liberation war founded party from office. Of course this is nonsense.

The idea that Zanu PF in Zimbabwe or ANC in SA, etc. have a divine right to rig elections to guarantee their stay in right is what is “wholly absurd and preposterous”! The people of Zimbabwe’s right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country is the supreme right here that must never ever be compromised or curtailed.

The right thing for President Hichilema, the rest of the SADC leaders and Zimbabwe’s own corrupt and incompetent opposition to do is stand up for the rule of law and the common people’s right to free and fair elections and refuse to attend Mnangagwa’s inauguration. Even if President Hichilema and a few others leaders attend the ceremony, the Mnangagwa presidency is still illegitimate!

Zimbabwe is a failed state, after 43 years of being stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime complete with its entourage of corrupt and utterly useless opposition parties, the country is desperate for a way out of this hell-hole. Stopping Zanu PF rigging the elections is the key to getting out of this hell.

Dr Mumba’s report has forced SADC to face up the reality that Zanu PF has stayed in power these last 43 years by rigging elections. Denying Zanu PF legitimacy following the rigged 23 August elections will force Zimbabwe into a new GNU so the democratic reforms, which should have been implemented in the 2008 to 2013 GNU, can finally be implemented.

How can implementing the reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible  and thus cure ourselves of the curse of rigged elections and bad governance be a bad thing? Indeed, defending Dr Nevers Mumba’s SEOM report is the only thing worth dying for right now!

“Taxpayers’ Money Wasted”: Dr Stop It

My Dear People

The furore that has erupted from the sh0ck of the dispensation of darkness, poverty and confusion to the damning report by the Sadc observer mission over the farcical harmonised elections has shown that the clueless regime is in sixes and sevens.

The Sadc observer mission exposed in its report that the elections, characterised by the delayed delivery of ballots that resulted in some voting in the dark of night and the arrest of more than 40 election observers among other shenanigans, had fallen short of the requirements of the constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act and Sadc principles governing democratic elections.

The departure by the Sadc body from the normal rubberstamping of elections has resulted in turmoil with attacks and threats aimed at the head of the Sadc observer mission Never Mumba by the rattled Lacoste cabal with the state media even insinuating that the former Zambian vice president has mental problems. Munopenga!!!

However, to its credit, the observer mission has been unfazed by the infantile attacks by the Ngwena regime and have refused to back down pointing out that the report was not done by Mumba alone, but also by observers drawn from Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia who were deployed across the length and breadth of the country during the polls.

It also called the attacks on Mumba “crude, scurrilous and misleading.”

The regime has seemingly noticed that unlike the country’s citizens whose rights they trample upon daily, the Sadc observer mission will not accept being treated like recalcitrant school kids by a government desperate for the validation of the shameful charade which were disguised as elections.

It is not surprising that the disgraceful conduct of the country’s elections that even raised concerns of the United Nations especially over the issues of voter intimidation and threats of violence, did not concern some of the individuals who contested for the presidential elections.

These individuals have conceded with haste as they called for the country to forge ahead and said they were putting the election behind them.

What led to these individuals to concede before even the results of a visibly sham election were announced? One would ask.

The answer of course was revealed by the state media, which told us that the gathering of political nonentities otherwise known as the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad) will continue to exist.

The likes of Trust and Lovemore, who got less votes nationally than most members of Parliament got from their constituencies, can hardly wait to once again be part of this grouping to get their grubby hands on trinkets such as vehicles handed out by Ngwena as reward for making the octogenarian leader feel good as they pretend to bring something meaningful to the table.

By participating in the presidential elections and conceding almost immediately, they have guaranteed themselves another five years of running out of superlatives as they tour Ngwena’s fish pond at his farm and receiving allowances for attending meetings and making recommendations, which will be totally ignored by the Lacoste cabal.

Sadly, taxpayers’ money is once again going to be wasted funding this useless gatherings of presidential candidates, most of whom garnered less than 1% of the vote.

What even makes it more galling is that all this money will go down the drain just to give a picture of the magnanimity of the Lacoste leader.

Such is the tragedy of this lot getting another five-year term.

Every cloud has a silver lining, as the saying goes and it is true even with this circus of an election.

As a result of these polls, the MDC-T led by Dougie Mwonzora has been totally eviscerated with no presence whatsoever in Parliament.

The party members who were brave or foolish enough to contest these elections failed to get 1000 votes, a damning indictment of the party’s irrelevance in the country’s body politic.

How ironic that Thokozani Khupe who was kicked out of the party’s leadership after losing to Mwonzora, is now a senator in Parliament as Dougie is left wallowing in the political wilderness.

It will be the first time since 1999 that there will be no representation of the MDC brand in Parliament, an indication of just how Mwonzora has destroyed the party.

Given his addiction to recall parliamentarians and councillors, the bespectacled fellow will suffer from withdrawal (no pun intended) symptoms and will probably now expend those energies by recalling members of his own party within the confines of Harvest House kkkk.

That he has now been reduced to calling for dialogue at press conferences calling for dialogue despite having taken control of the party headquarters and had access to the funding from the state, is a reflection of the rapid downfall of Mwonzora from the powerful position of secretary general of the then Morgan Tsvangirai-led MDCT to join the likes of perennial election loser Egypt Dzinemunhenzva on the political scrapheap.

I suggest Dougie starts offering lessons on how to kill a vibrant opposition party and he can huge amounts of money from the Lacoste cabal, which invests so much in silencing its critics.

Munopengaaaaaaaa!

Mnangagwa’s Inauguration Snubbed by SADC and AU Leaders as Election Fraud Claims Persist

Harare – In a surprising turn of events, leaders from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU) have opted to send ministers instead of attending the inauguration ceremony of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. This decision comes amidst growing concerns and allegations of election fraud by international observer missions.

The inauguration, which was scheduled to take place today at the National Sports Stadium, was expected to be a grand event, with leaders from various African nations in attendance. However, the absence of high-ranking officials from SADC and the AU has raised eyebrows and cast a shadow over the legitimacy of the recent elections.

The observer missions, which included representatives from the European Union and the United States, have raised serious concerns over the conduct of the elections, citing irregularities and lack of transparency. These claims have been echoed by opposition parties and civil society organizations in Zimbabwe, who have called for an independent investigation into the alleged fraud.

The decision by SADC and the AU to send ministers instead of their respective heads of state has been seen by many as a clear indication of their reservations about the electoral process. It is a significant blow to President Mnangagwa, who had hoped to use his inauguration as a platform to showcase Zimbabwe’s commitment to democracy and international cooperation.

The absence of regional and continental leaders has also raised questions about the level of support and legitimacy President Mnangagwa enjoys among his peers. It is a stark contrast to the warm reception he received during his state visits to neighboring countries following his ascension to power last year.

The government has dismissed the allegations of election fraud, describing them as baseless and politically motivated. President Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba, stated that the decision by SADC and the AU leaders to send ministers was a normal protocol and did not reflect any lack of confidence in the election outcome.

However, critics argue that the absence of high-profile leaders sends a strong message to the Zimbabwean government and raises doubts about the credibility of the electoral process. They argue that a thorough investigation into the allegations of fraud is necessary to restore faith in the democratic process and ensure a peaceful and inclusive Zimbabwe.

As the controversy surrounding the recent elections continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how President Mnangagwa’s government will address the concerns raised by international observers and opposition parties. The eyes of the nation and the international community are now fixed on Zimbabwe, waiting to see how the government will respond to these serious allegations.

In the meantime, the absence of SADC and AU leaders at the inauguration ceremony serves as a stark reminder that the road to legitimacy and international recognition for President Mnangagwa’s government may be more challenging than anticipated.

CCC Members Fined For Voting For Opposition

ByA Correspondent- A traditional leader has fined two Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists for defying a local headman‘s directive to vote for Zanu PF.

Brothers Knowledge and Solomon Tambwera were last Saturday dragged before Chief Muusha’s traditional court on charges of defying Charles Manzou’s directive to vote for the ruling party’s candidates in the August 23 to 24 harmonised elections.

Solomon said Manzou on August 20 called a meeting in the Mutsangani area where he lashed out against the CCC.

“At the meeting, the headman said he had been sent by Chief Muusha to order every villager in the ward to vote for Zanu PF,” Solomon said.

Solomon said he and his brother were forced to sleep in the bush for almost three days after receiving information that Zanu PF activists were baying for their blood for defying the directive.

On August 26, we received a letter from Chief Muusha ordering us to appear before his court to answer charges emanating from our protest at the meeting,” he said.

“When we attended the court, the chief claimed that we insulted him by refusing to heed headman Manzou’s order to vote for Zanu PF.

“After failing to prove the allegations, the chief with the concurrence of the headman fined us three goats for essentially exercising our democratic rights.

“We were given until the end of September to pay the fine.”

Solomon said he had reported the case to the police.

“I am appealing to human rights lawyers to assist us to fight this injustice,” he added.

Headman Manzou admitted holding a meeting on the eve of the harmonised elections with villagers, but refuted allegations he ordered people to vote for Zanu PF.

“I was sent by the chief to remind his people to vote,” he said.

“The chief told me that the directive came from (his seniors) above.

“At the meeting two young men challenged me and argued that what I was saying to them was not in order as it amounted to forcing people to vote against their will.

“I informed the chief about this and he in turn summoned the two young men to his court.

“He) felt insulted by the two’s actions of openly challenging his directive and fined them three goats.”

Chief Muusha confirmed that he fined the two brothers for “insulting” him, but could not say how they insulted him.

“It was not even clear what was said at the meeting but the headman told me that the two brothers told him that what he was telling them did not make sense and dismissed him,” Muusha said.

“They disrespected me by dismissing my headman.”

In June, the chief was reported to have also threatened his subjects with unspecified action if they voted for CCC during a meeting held at Muusha Primary School.

Another Murder in the CBD

By A Correspondent- Another body of a yet to be identified man was discovered in the central business district on Friday last week with his head crushed.

The body was discovered at corner Robert Mugabe and Innez Terrace street on Friday morning wrapped in sacks and cardboard boxes.

Passer-bys noticed a pool of blood from the “corpse” leading to the discovery of the man whose head was crushed by a huge boulder.

The development comes as last week Monday, the body of another unidentified man was found with missing parts on an island on Simon Muzenda Road, in a development that left many sh0cked.

The head of the deceased had reportedly been crushed and the chest opened.

The genitɑls had been removed and some parts of the brain were on the street. A used c0nd0m was found beside the body.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the case, saying investigations had begun.

Rising cases of suspected ritual murders have left many disturbed throughout the country

Rising cases of suspected ritual murders have left many disturbed throughout the country.

Mystery still surrounds the whereabouts of the head of Tapiwa Makore, whose murder, some three years back, captured the attention of many.

The then-seven-year-old was murdered in Murewa by his uncle Tapiwa Makore senior and Tafadzwa Shamba, and was buried without a head.

The duo went on to be sentenced to death by the High Court, in July this year.

Makore (Junior) was said to have been sacrificed in a bizarre ritual to “boost” a cabbage business.

However, these are not isolated cases.

Last year, in Nyanga, two related seven-year-old minors were found dead in a disused house in the village, with their throats having been cut open and blood drained.

A few months ago, the nation was left in shock after Faith Musonza, who was a Hatfield Spar employee, was brutally killed. Her body was found dumped in a drainage close to her home, with nails and nipples missing.

Early last month, a dark cloud engulfed the Gokwe community after an artisanal miner was arrested for killing his 14-month-old baby, allegedly for the purpose of boosting his mining activities.

Thomas Muzenda is said to have, prior to the murder, approached a self-styled traditional healer, who instructed him to kill his daughter and harvest some body parts.

The authorities have since raised concern over the surging number of ghastly murder cases, most of which are ritual-related.

According to the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS), the number of people incarcerated for manslaughter rose from 630 to 845 between January and October 2021. By November last year, the figure had further increased to 984.

ZPCS said more than 30 percent of the cases were attributed to ritual purposes.

The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency reveals that at least 40 percent of the 3 600 murder cases that were documented last year were alleged ritual slayings. Most of the cases are still before the courts.

“The prevalence of murder cases that are suspected to be for ritual purposes is worrying. Conclusive statistics are not readily available but barely two weeks pass by without a mysterious murder recorded across provinces.

“In most of these cases, the bodies are discovered with missing limbs, which begs the conclusion that the parts are harvested for ritual purposes,” said national police spokesperson Assistant Commission Paul Nyathi.

Causes

Ritual murder is generally defined as the sacrificial slaying of a human as a propitiatory offering to a deity. Body parts are harvested in the process.

Traditionalist Mbuya Calista Magorimbo opines ritual murder cases are a result of desperation for wealth, spiritual protection and, in some cases, quest for power.

However, she blamed bogus healers for promoting murder and harvesting of body parts.

“Ritual killings have existed since time immemorial, but these days, it is worse, maybe due to economic hardships. What is more disturbing is that even youths are now willing to commit such crimes, which was not the case back in the day. It was mostly the elders, our forefathers, who were accused of such ill practices,” said Mbuya Magorimbo.

Others commit such gruesome crimes in a bid to be healed from “mysterious” diseases.

“Some believe young children’s blood is pure, hence it heals certain ailments,” she added.

But Sekuru Nyanhewe, born Erick Chipeneti, dismisses the misplaced notion. He argues that such rituals do not work as murder is a sin in the local tradition, as well as in some religious circles.

“Murder is a grave sin that cannot attract positive results. Instead, it evokes ngozi (avenging spirit) and yields generational curses,” he said.

Sekuru Nyanhewe notes the disturbing trend, including increasing mental health cases, might be as a result of avenging spirits following crimes committed in the past.

“Sometimes, if you interrogate a murderer, they will tell you that they do not know why or how they committed the crime,” said the traditionalist.

“At times, the crime is committed while one is in a trance. These are manifestations of the grave crimes that were committed by their forefathers.”

The man believed to be Zimbabwe’s most prolific serial killer, Bright Zhantali, is among hundreds of inmates committed to the Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison’s psychiatric unit. They are classified as criminal mental patients.

Zhantali is accused of raping and killing 23 women during a year-long reign of terror that spanned Marondera, Goromonzi, Rusape, Mutare and Macheke.

Manjuzu craze

Anglican priest Father Edgar Sibiya added that mental health issues and poverty are the driving forces behind ritual murders.

He singled out the growing trend of “manjuzu” (marine spirit) as creating problems.

Manjuzu is derived from njuzu (mermaid), a mythical creature that is said to be half-human and half-fish.

The mermaid is believed to be the ruler of the underwater world, and possesses supernatural powers that can make people rich.

“The ‘manjuzu’ craze is affecting even teenagers. It generally entails sniffing snuff, smoking cigarettes and speaking in hushed tones because those who practise it want to remain shrouded in mystery.

“Essentially, we can call it a cult and their demands can even be extreme to the extent of demanding human body parts or blood, which is against biblical principles of valuing the sanctity of life,” said Fr Sibiya.

Psychology

Psychologist and University of Johannesburg post-doctoral researcher Dr John Ringson identifies several factors leading to ritual killings.

“There are a number of issues involved but it all goes back to the human mind. Economic hardships have left many people mentally unstable. Drug and substance abuse is also another factor contributing to increased murder cases, in general.

“Ritual murders do not work, sometimes things may coincidentally start to work out for someone and they are tempted to believe the rituals are working.

“However, the culprits often end up in sad situations, where they are left swimming in abject poverty or even attracting curses for future generations,” said Dr Ringson.

He criticised traditional healers for taking advantage of mentally unstable individuals.

“Poverty makes people vulnerable and gullible. They are forced to trust myths and rituals such as kuromba, which are believed to yield solutions to their problems.”

Remedy

While convicted perpetrators are receiving correctional services at various prison facilities, communities also need to be enlightened on the spiritual implications of such activities.

“There is a human element and a spiritual element to this issue, hence it has to be dealt with carefully,” said Headman Zvinowanda Pfumbidzai of Machera village in Hwedza.

“Appeasement rituals should be carried out when the victim is being buried to avoid future problems because an avenging spirit may go on to haunt the perpetrator or their family.”

Traditionally, he said, the wronged family conducts rituals to provoke the spirit of the deceased so that it goes back to the perpetrator’s family for revenge.

“It is advisable that even before or just after the funeral, both parties meet and find an amicable solution to the situation to avert future problems.

“Sometimes, a family may not know that their relative was murdered and the victim may communicate with their relatives in dreams and visions, which then helps locate their dead body,” added Headman Pfumbidzai.

When some body parts go missing and are never recovered, he reckons, the problem will persist.

“At times, some families end up forgiving the perpetrators while others prefer to let the dead fight from the grave.”

He added that, while ngozi still exists, most people are committing the ritual murder crimes for selfish reasons.

“The popular belief is that ngozi often affects future generations, so they do not really care what happens in the years to come, while others argue that it will affect every family member, not only the perpetrator,” he said.

Traditional leaders are now advocating enhanced child protection in their communities by agreeing on alternative means of resolving family disputes.

According to the Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association (ZINATHA), issues of ritual killings and how traditional beliefs can mislead people should be discussed at national level.

“Most people are tricked into this inhuman act by callous healers; they are made to believe that killing innocent children, especially their relatives, will bring them good fortunes.

“However, if any of our members is involved in such acts, we have a legal obligation to revoke their membership and have them prosecuted for that,” said ZINATHA.

The downside of this ill-practice in most families is that girls and women end up being a socially deprived group through the practice of forced marriages to appease (kuripa ngozi) the wronged spirit.

However, this is a criminal offence in Zimbabwe, although the fairer sex continues to suffer in silence because the practice is administered at the family level to resolve conflict.

Child protection advocate Chinga Govhati reckons the use of children for any cultural or religious practice is a short-sighted approach.

“Any form of culture or religion that causes and perpetuates harm is not a positive or good one. Most families do not realise that children are their future. When families give away their children in marriage or as payment of a debt, that is an investment lost,” said Govhati.

She notes that children from disadvantaged families are often pushed into forced marriages by their well-off relatives.

“Children are protected by various laws. At international level, the Convention on the Rights of the Child is key and at regional level, the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child protects children in Article 21, which provides for protection against harmful cultural and social practices.

“At national level, the most relevant document is the Constitution, which promotes holistic child protection in Section 81. Recently, we saw the new Marriages Act criminalising any form of child marriage in Section 3, as well as various other laws that protect children from such actions,” explained Govhati.

Investing in community education, she notes, will help create awareness among affected families and individuals.

“When you listen to stories of girls who escaped such harmful practices and how they are now reinvesting in those families, you realise how ignorance can adversely affect a family.

“It just does not make any sense that someone innocent has to be sacrificed for the actions of another. Issues need to be resolved by other means that do not violate someone else’s rights.”

Tribute To Heath Streak

FORMER Zimbabwe Cricket captain and coach, Heath Streak, who succumbed to cancer this Sunday morning was not only a Zimbabwean legend but also a player whose impact was felt globally.

Streak passed on at his farm outside Bulawayo aged 49 after losing a long battle with cancer.

Born on the 16th of March 1974 in Bulawayo, Heath Hilton Streak was a lion-hearted fast bowler with immense stamina and strength, who had the ability to bowl outswing at a good pace and with excellent control.

Heath had the ability to venture on one-man attacks and destroy teams as witnessed at Lords in 2000 against England, against South Africa at the 1999 World Cup among other devastating spells that he bowled.

In his decorated career, Streaky as he was affectionately known on the cricket field, played 65 test matches, picking up 216 wickets.

In the One Day International format, Streak featured in 189 matches, scalping 239 wickets with his best bowling figures being 5 for 32.

With the bat, Streak amassed 1,990 runs in the red-ball format, while in ODIs, he aggregated 2,934 runs.

While Zimbabwe cricket has boasted a fair number of all-rounders over the years, it is Streak who generally stands out among them.

He remains Zimbabwe’s all-time leading wicket-taker in both Test and One Day International cricket, both at an average under 30 and he is also the only Zimbabwean to have completed the double of 1000 Test runs and 100 Test wickets, and 2000 ODI runs and 200 ODI wickets.

Streak marked his arrival in the world of cricket with a stellar performance against Pakistan in 1993 capturing the headlines after picking up eight wickets in only his second Test in Rawalpindi.

Streak played a key role in leading Zimbabwe to their first away series win in 2001, blasting 79 runs off 67 balls in the decisive match at Eden Park to beat New Zealand 2-1.

He also played for various English County sides, as well as playing Franchise cricket across the world.

After playing his final international in 2005, Streak transitioned into coaching where he had two stints as Zimbabwe’s national head coach from 2009 to 2013 before coming back in 2016 and leading the Chevrons till 2018.

Outside of the Chevrons, Streak also worked as a bowling coach with the Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, Bangladesh bowling coach as well as stints in the English county championship.

A native Ndebele speaker, Streak also showed his full talents outside of the cricket pitch when he appeared on TV commercials in the mid-1990s.

In 2014, Streak founded the Heath Streak Academy to aid the development and growth of cricket in Zimbabwe.

In 2021, he was banned for eight years after being charged with – and admitting to – five breaches of the ICC’s anti-corruption code.

However, he later said he was not involved in any attempts to fix matches, but he admitted to disclosing inside information pertaining to international games.

A fighting innings has come to an end, the umpire has raised the finger on Streaky, Zimbabwe’s best all-rounder.

May his soul rest in peace as he walks off the park.

Citizens Pile Pressure On Mnangagwa

Choose perks in Parliament\Council or the oppressed poverty-stricken masses! CCC Namibia echoes!

03 September 2023

Citizens in Namibia urge elected members of parliament and councilors in recent flawed elections to avert the temptation to defy the clarion call by the organic party to campaign for a fresh plebiscite. It is public knowledge that taking part in Parliament and Councils is tantamount to endorsing the illegitimate president who subverted the will of the citizenry.

CCC Namibia emphasizes that the pragmatic party is pro-poor hence the dire need to embrace social liberation policies. MPs and Councillors should speak audibly pronouncing the illegitimacy of Mr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and his cabal. Citizens’ members of parliament must not accept a swearing-in ceremony administered by an unconstitutional president based on the scientific findings of the SADC Observer Mission, AU, Carter, EU, ZESN, ERC, etc. The various observer missions noted intimidation of voters by FAZ, suppression of the vote in Harare, Bulawayo, and Manicaland, abuse of the Constitution and the electoral law as well as the SADC principles and guidelines on democratic elections.

At this juncture, we anticipate that elected MPs and Councillors should brace for participatory democracy demanding fresh elections conducted by an independent electoral commission since Zec has dismally failed to pass integrity, accountability, and transparency tests. We can’t continue with coercion, intimidation, politically motivated violence, banning of political rallies, and voter suppression that breed illegitimacy. As a party, we should avoid elements of political greed as a way of amplifying our voices demanding fresh free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in Zimbabwe.

After the rigged 2018 elections, the people’s MPs tried in vain to confront the illegitimacy of Mr. Mnangagwa but were marred by the Supreme Court judgment of March 2020. It was unfortunate that ZANU-PF-controlled Mwonzora began to illegally recall our MPs one by one. This time around the party should make sure that the gold mafia president does not swear in any CCC member of parliament. All duly declared MPs and councilors must resist belly politics reflecting their commitment and dedication to prosecuting the national democratic revolution to its logical conclusion.

Elected legislators should reject endorsing this coup on the ballot by Zec and their ZANU-PF handlers. Advocates of Social Democracy must choose the side of the victimized people of Zimbabwe who were denied their constitutional right to vote for various leaders of their choice without coercion. One-Man One-Vote was the main reason why the Chitepos and Tongogaras launched the protracted war of liberation. It is now imperative to learn from Mwonzora and the cabal who are enduring the cold. They chose their stomachs ahead of the electorate. CCC Namibia pledges to stand with principled legislators and councilors.

The temptation of diplomatic passports, cars, loans, and other perks should not derail our struggle for socio-economic transfiguration in a New Great Zimbabwe led by none other than the change champion in chief, President Advocate Nelson Chamisa. Change champions should bear in mind that this is the only opportunity for us to win Zimbabwe for a complete change with the assistance of SADC and AU. The decision by SADC and AU not to endorse and sign shambolic elections must be applauded. We salute Dr. Nevers Mumba and his great team of varlour for resisting ZANU-PF bullying.

Choose perks in Parliament or the oppressed people who endure abject poverty due to the legitimacy crisis in Zimbabwe! So far Hon Fadzayi Mahere, Hon Happymore Chidziva only to mention a few have already indicated their preparedness to set aside their resounding victories against all odds in solidarity with the rigged legislators in Manicaland, Harare, and the countryside where command voting was prevalent perpetrated by FAZ and traditional leaders.

Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa: Shaping Zim’s Path to Democracy, Economic Development

Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa is a name that resonates with the pursuit of democracy and economic prosperity in Zimbabwe. In 2017, during a momentous period in Zimbabwean history, Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa emerged as a principled voice advocating for adherence to the rule of law and democratic values. His unwavering commitment to these principles has continued to shape the nation’s trajectory.

The 2017 removal of Robert Mugabe from power was a pivotal moment, with the world watching closely. It was anticipated to mark a turning point in Zimbabwe’s turbulent journey towards democracy, where democratic principles and the rule of law would take center stage. Yet, recent events have cast a shadow over these aspirations, revealing a complex landscape of political maneuvering.

Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa’s principled stance was clear: elections featuring Mugabe and the opposition should proceed, irrespective of the political landscape. In a time of uncertainty, his commitment to the rule of law stood out as a rare conviction, a North Star guiding Zimbabwe through tumultuous waters.

However, the optimism of 2017 , now 2023 has given way to doubts about Zimbabwe’s true commitment to democracy. Reports of irregularities during the recent electoral process have raised valid concerns about the fairness of the election. Instances of late-opening polling stations and questions regarding the accuracy of the vote count have sown seeds of doubt and discord. While there hasn’t been a formal call for a recount, the controversies surrounding the election have been deeply divisive.

These issues transcend Zimbabwe’s borders; they touch upon the fundamental principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability upheld by the international community. This isn’t merely an internal matter; it’s a global concern.

Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa’s principled stance underscores a critical point: adherence to the rule of law must form the bedrock of Zimbabwe’s democratic journey. The nation must rise above its history of political expediency, where rule violations were often tolerated for political gains.

The international community should take notice of this situation. While there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, zero tolerance for violations of democratic principles is paramount. The events of 2017 and the subsequent years serve as a stark reminder that democracy cannot thrive when its fundamental tenets are compromised.

Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa’s vision of adhering to the rule of law, even in the face of political turmoil, shines as a guiding light. It reminds Zimbabwe that the rule of law must always prevail. Upholding democratic values and institutions is the surest path to a brighter and more stable future, where the will of the people is genuinely reflected in the nation’s leadership.

About ZEM:

Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa’s dedication to Zimbabwe’s economic development is commendable. His vision, as outlined in the Zimbabwe Economic Movement’s manifesto, reflects a deep understanding of the crucial elements needed for the country’s progress. Here’s a breakdown of the key points from the manifesto:

**1. Economic Development:** The primary objective is to promote economic development, recognizing its vital role in improving the well-being of citizens.

**2. Employment:** The manifesto emphasizes job creation and entrepreneurship as essential for ensuring that every Zimbabwean has the opportunity to earn a decent living.

**3. Agriculture:** Acknowledging agriculture as a backbone of the economy, the movement aims to modernize this sector, promote value addition, and ensure food security.

**4. Infrastructure:** Prioritizing investment in infrastructure development, including transport, energy, and telecommunications, to facilitate economic growth.

**5. Education:** Recognizing the importance of education in a modern economy, the movement commits to investing in education and training programs.

**6. Healthcare:** Prioritizing investment in healthcare infrastructure and services to ensure access to quality healthcare for all citizens.

**7. Anti-Corruption:** A strong stance against corruption, with a commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical behavior in society.

**8. Human Rights:** A focus on promoting and protecting human rights, including those of women, children, and vulnerable groups.

**9. Unity:** Acknowledging Zimbabwe’s diversity and the importance of promoting unity and social cohesion while celebrating differences.

**10. Democracy:** A commitment to democratic principles, good governance, and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens.

This manifesto provides a clear roadmap for addressing the economic and social challenges facing Zimbabwe. Wamwari Devine Chaminuka Mafa’s leadership in advocating for these principles and the Zimbabwe Economic Movement’s dedication to a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for the country is a positive step forward. It’s an invitation for all Zimbabweans to unite and work towards a brighter future.

ZANU PF Youth Rewarded After Assaulting ZEC Staff Member

Disqualified ZANU PF Aspiring MP Returns Through Youth Quota System After Assault Incident

Kudakwashe Damson, a ZANU PF aspiring Member of Parliament (MP), who was previously disqualified for assaulting a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) official, has made an unexpected comeback through the ruling party’s youth quota system. Damson, who had been eyeing the Epworth parliamentary seat, was disqualified from ZANU PF primary elections due to an assault incident involving a Zec official during a voter education campaign in Epworth earlier this year.

Kudakwashe Damson

Damson had faced charges of violating the Electoral Act after disrupting Zec proceedings and was granted bail following the incident. The incident took place near Kubatana Primary School in Epworth, where Zec officials were conducting voter education. Damson allegedly disrupted the program and assaulted Zec officials Alerta Madzivanyika and Mercy Mutendedzwa, while also tearing the Zec bib worn by Benard Gwishiri. Tendai Matauya managed to escape the assault by quickly removing her Zec bib.

Despite his disqualification from primary elections, Damson’s name surprisingly appeared in the Government Gazette Extraordinary as an elected Metropolitan Provincial Council member under the youth quota system. This move has sparked speculation about the party’s internal dynamics and its approach to rewarding members.

Notably, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, David Kudakwashe, and Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi’s son, Carl Mutsawashe, have also benefited from the youth quota system. Mnangagwa secured seven youth representatives in Parliament through his win in seven provinces. The political landscape in Zimbabwe continues to evolve with these developments, showcasing the intricate dynamics within ZANU PF.

Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya highlighted that ZANU PF has a pattern of rewarding its members and suggested that there might be underlying political dynamics at play, similar to how “Banana republics” reward close allies and family members.

As ZANU PF employs the youth quota system to bring individuals back into the fold despite past controversies, the political landscape in Harare Metropolitan Province, which is dominated by the Citizen Coalitions for Change (CCC), remains dynamic and subject to ongoing shifts in representation and power.- Agencies/ZIANA

ZANU’s FAZ Terrorists Block Tapiwa Makore’s Father’s CCC Win

Grief and Defeat: Tapiwa Makore’s Father Confronts Harassment and Loss in Rural Elections

In a tragic turn of events, Munyaradzi Makore, father of the late slain toddler Tapiwa Makore, faced further distress as he entered the political arena only to be defeated in the recent rural elections. Grieving the cruel loss of his son, Makore sought solace in politics by standing as an opposition candidate for a council seat in rural Murewa. However, his hopes were dashed as he suffered defeat at the hands of the ruling party, Zanu PF.

The wounds of Makore’s family were still fresh from the harrowing murder of his eight-year-old son, Tapiwa, in September 2020. The perpetrators, including Makore’s own family members, committed the heinous act for ritual purposes, leaving the community in shock and mourning. Despite a death sentence being passed on the culprits, Makore’s heartache could not be healed. Turning to politics, he hoped to find some semblance of justice and purpose.

Makore’s aspirations to win the council seat were met with challenges, as he accused the Forever Associates of Zimbabwe (FAZ) of intimidating voters, leading to his loss in the polls. He expressed his frustration, stating that voters were monitored at polling stations, which influenced the outcome in favor of Zanu PF. Despite his efforts, Makore lost to Zanu PF’s candidate, Anyway Nheweyembwa, who secured over 1,000 votes compared to Makore’s count.

This bitter defeat in the elections has left Makore grappling with his next steps. While he pins his hopes on a potential challenge to overturn the election results and trigger a fresh poll, he also contemplates his political future. The grief-stricken father acknowledges that he will decide on his next move based on the unfolding circumstances, showing the resilience and uncertainty he faces.

As the High Court Judge Munamato Mutevedzi’s decision on the Makore murder case could not fully mend the wounds of the past, the 2023 elections have opened a new chapter of pain for Munyaradzi Makore. The hopes of finding solace through political victory were dashed, and the journey ahead remains uncertain.- Agencies

Petrol Tank Bursts Fuel Depot

BULAWAYO – A devastating explosion rocked the Kelvin West industrial area in Bulawayo yesterday as a petrol storage tank erupted in flames, triggering a raging fire that left a trail of destruction in its wake. The incident occurred at a fuel storage depot operated by Cleaver Investment along Khami Road, next to the District Development Fund now RIDA depot.

Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying scene as the explosion sent flames soaring into the sky, prompting pedestrians and motorists along Khami Road to flee in panic. The intense fire quickly engulfed the surroundings, leaving vehicles and property within its reach reduced to charred ruins.

In a grim turn of events, a fuel tanker belonging to Multi-movers was also consumed by the fire. The tanker had reportedly been at the depot to load fuel before the incident occurred. Admire, one of the owners of the fuel truck, expressed devastation as he described the situation. “This fuel truck which has been reduced to a shell is ours. It had come here to load fuel for further distribution,” said Admire.

Bulawayo Fire Brigade’s swift response played a critical role in containing the inferno, despite the risks posed by the presence of other fuel tankers. The fire brigade’s efforts were hampered by the danger posed by the burning storage tank, leading to a cautious approach to extinguishing the flames. The crowd of onlookers that gathered at the scene braved the potential danger, swelling as the fire brigade teams fought to bring the situation under control.

Approximately 30 minutes after arriving on the scene, the fire brigade managed to subdue the fire, allowing people to cautiously retrieve property from the affected offices and vehicles within the premises. The incident has left the community in shock, and exaggerated versions of the event rapidly circulated throughout the city center.

The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire remains under investigation, as authorities work to assess the extent of the damage and ensure the safety of the area. This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential risks associated with fuel storage and distribution, underscoring the importance of stringent safety measures in such environments.- state media

Chigumba “Steals” People’s Victory

Tinashe Sambiri

The Citizens Coalition for Change has declared that Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s attempt to thwart the will of the people is futile.

In a statement CCC Namibia commended SADC for refusing to endorse stolen polls.

Mr Mnangagwa’s victory has been widely rejected by local and international observers.

See CCC Namibia statement below:

CCC Namibia lauds 13 out of 16 SADC countries that didn’t endorse sham elections!

01 September 2023

Citizens resident in Namibia are quite exhilarated by the gesture from all SADC countries except Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania of standing firm in solidarity with the objective and scientific SADC Observer Mission. Change champions and all progressive Zimbabweans across the globe are celebrating the historic decision by the regional body to promote free, fair, credible, and unfettered elections in the motherland.

What perturbs citizens in Namibia is that ZANU-PF has to get angry on behalf of the purported independent Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(Zec)! It has become clear to the entire world that the Electoral Commission takes instructions from the Shake-Shake Building. Zimbabwe needs an independent body that runs elections respecting the Supreme statute of the country, the Electoral Act, and the SADC guidelines and principles governing democratic elections in the region.

Following the abuse of the Constitution and electoral laws of the fatherland, SADC refused to endorse and sign the shambolic elections. Only three heads of state namely President Cyril Ramaphosa, South Africa, President Hage Geingob, Namibia, and the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan have endorsed the unconstitutional plebiscite. Zimbabweans in Namibia urge the three leaders to respect the people of Zimbabwe by advocating for a fresh poll bereft of coercion, intimidation, state-sponsored torture, illegal detentions of opposition activists, abuse of the electoral laws, and state capture of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

It is now beyond any doubt that these African leaders who have endorsed sham elections benefit from the suffering of Zimbabweans. They have displayed their zeal to see our economy on its knees. It is a public fact that Zimbabweans are suffocating the economies of their neighboring countries such as South Africa and Namibia due to bad governance manifesting in the perennial legitimacy crisis in the country. We are cognizant of the fact that some of these leaders are accomplices in the gold, diamond, platinum, and lithium smuggling in Zimbabwe. The endorsers of disputed elections are trying to protect their illicit deals with the corrupt and politically inept Harare regime.

Furthermore, citizens in Namibia suppose that all African leaders in SADC and beyond should embrace the report that came from the delegation dispatched by the organic President of Zambia, Haikande Hichilema( the current SADC Chairperson) to observe elections on the 23rd of August 2023. We salute the Head of the Objective SADC Observer Mission, Dr. Nevers Mumba, and the AU Head, Goodluck Jonathan for resisting bullying from the unpopular party that has failed dismally to put the economy on a sounder footing. It is now imperative to support democratic elections that reflect the will of the people to avert coups and counter-coups in SADC and beyond as in the recent case of Gabon.

The case of Zimbabwe is not unique! Coups emanate from disputed elections. Our country deserves a fresh poll administered by an independent commission that is not compromised by the state.

Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania should prefer citizens to greedy selfish leaders who have an insatiable appetite to subvert the voice of the people. Life in the diaspora is not easy for many of the economic refugees! Most of us are surviving on menial jobs regardless of the qualifications we possess. Professionals are selling cockroach poison, mops, brooms, and second-hand apparel on the streets of Johannesburg, Windhoek, Maputo, Francis Town, etc. As a people, we can settle for the better with the support of SADC countries.

Instead of supporting those who have started our country down the slopes of hyperinflation and gross abuse of universal basic human rights, Fikile Mbalula, President Hage Geingob, President Ramaphosa, and the President of Tanzania should choose to side with the oppressed people of Zimbabwe.

It is astounding that what they support in Zimbabwe does not transpire in their countries before, during, and post-election. Zimbabweans suffer unprecedented xenophobic attacks across SADC and beyond, it is now or never for the country to enjoy one-man one vote 43 years after attaining political independence in 1980 from Ian Douglas Smith.

In a nutshell, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Namibia encourages the three Presidents to revisit the report that unravels rigging shenanigans orchestrated by the unpopular autocratic party through Zec. Zimbabweans need SADC, AU, EU, and the UN to press for free, fair, and credible elections.

ZANU PF Presidential candidate Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa knows that his politically bankrupt party cannot win peaceful and fair elections in Zimbabwe. CCC has emerged as the new headache for the gold mafia regime under the pragmatic leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

Despite all odds, the people of Zimbabwe voted for President Advocate Nelson Chamisa because he has the potential to bring socio-economic transfiguration to the country. It is against this clear background that Zec chose to announce fake results declaring Mr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa as the President-elect.

Zimbabweans are languishing in abject poverty due to ZANU-PF looting which is why it is hypnotizing and transfixing to have congratulatory messages directed to the author of our economic, social, and political woes. We demand a fresh poll!

The issue of political prisoners should also be dealt with once and for all. Since the 14th of June 2022, CCC Vice-Chairperson, Hon Job Saro Wiwa Sikhala has endured a long pre-trial detention caged at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison for fighting against the state-machinated abductions and enforced disappearances.

Moreblessing Ali who was gruesomely murdered by a renowned ZANU PF thug, Pius Jamba in Nyatsime is not yet buried! This level of satanism cannot be sanitized by a right-thinking citizen of the globe. CCC Namibia demands justice for Sikhala, Ali family, Jacob Ngarivhume, all victims of post-election abductions and torture.
