CCC Speaks On Gays

By- Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) outgoing legislator for Mutare Central, Innocent Gonese, says if his party is elected into power, it will ensure access to health services by key populations such as lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) to curb the spread of HIV and Aids.

Gonese made the pledge during a political dialogue on health policy proposals convened in Mutare last week by the Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR) and its partner The Advocacy Core Team (ACT).
According to UNAids, gay men who have sex with men, sex workers, transgender, people who inject drugs, prisoners and other incarcerated people are considered as five main key populations vulnerable to HIV while they lack adequate access to services.
Gonese emphasised that CCC will not be promoting homosexuality, but rather recognising common experiences affecting the LGBTQI community’s health and well-being.
“As CCC we are saying anyone at higher risk of contracting diseases, be it LGBTQI community or young key populations they must have access to healthcare services,” he said.
“By teaching youths about sexual reproductive health care, we are not encouraging teenage sexual activities. We are just recognising that it is happening despite that we do not like it.”
Gonese added: “We may not like homosexuals, but if they are there, they must have access to health care.
“They do it behind the curtain and we do not want them to suffer in silence while they spread STIs and other diseases.”
He said vulnerable groups should not be discriminated against when it comes to access to health care services.
“Young children must be taught about sexual reproductive health so that whenever they indulge in sex they will seek for services.
“This will help our nation to reduce new infections of HIV and various STIs,” said Gonese, adding that CCC will also raise the age of consenting to sex from 16 to 18 years.
He was responding to Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV (ZNNP+) Manicaland coordinator, Moses Chananuka who had asked how a CCC government will work with key populations.
“HIV is now prevalent amongst key populations and other groups of people who must be given health care services.
“As CCC how are you going to work with the LGBTQI community and other key populations who need access to services?” Chananuka questioned.
According to UNAids statistics, key populations and their sexual partners outside sub-Saharan Africa accounted for 80% of new HIV infections in 2016.
In 2016, in sub-Saharan Africa, key populations accounted for 25% of new HIV infections.
National Constitutional Assembly candidate for Dangamvura constituency, Larmeck Mwandunguza pledged free health care services for every citizen if their presidential candidate Lovemore Madhuku is elected.
“If you vote for our president Lovemore Madhuku, everyone will not pay fees at government health care centres and they will be treated for free.
“Expecting mothers will only cater for preparation and they will not pay for delivery as it will be paid for by government,” Mwandunguza said.
He added that the NCA will offer higher pay for health workers.
“NCA will ensure health workers are well motivated to do their work,” he said.
“We will introduce mobile clinics in public places and equip our hospitals with cancer machines.”
Mwandunguza said an NCA government will use money accrued from farming and the sale of mineral resources to improve the health sector.
ZADHR officials revealed that panelists from the ruling Zanu PF party snubbed the political dialogue.
“We have failed to get panelists from Zanu Pf here in Mutare and Bulawayo. They promised to come but they could not show up.
“We made an effort to invite them,” ZDHR secretary Norman Matara said.

CCC Supporters Throw-Out Zim-Dollar Notes, Celebrate Chamisa’s USD Salary Promises

By- Thousands of CCC supporters in Sakubva stadium Sunday threw Zim dollar notes in the air after the opposition leader Nelson Chamisa had declared that once he is elected President, he will do away with the local currency.

Excited supporters fished out local currency notes from their pockets and threw them in the air, forcing Chamisa to momentarily stop his speech.
“Let us say goodbye to the valueless local currency. We want to ensure that people earn money that has value. Voting for me will signal the end of the local currency,” Chamisa said.
The local currency is recovering slowly after suffering a sharp depreciation against the United States dollar in May and June.
Chamisa said he was worried about the culture of name-dropping being perpetuated by the Zanu PF-led government.
He said once elected to power, he would end that culture.
“We have seen people killing others, violating laws and behaving as if they are a law unto themselves. They do this while brandishing a Zanu PF flag, which is their protection.
“You see just a few days ago, our supporter was killed in Harare. Nothing will happen. There will be no accountability. This is what our country has become and this cannot continue. Under my government, violence will be a thing of the past,” Chamisa said.
Violence and intimidation ahead of the August 23 general elections, especially in rural areas, have been on the increase, with chiefs and headmen reportedly leading the onslaught.
Chamisa said he had been approached by chiefs who claimed that Zanu PF was forcing them to write down the names of potential voters.
“Chiefs have been telling me that they are being forced to write the names of their subjects and forcing them to vote for Zanu PF. (President Emmerson and Zanu PF leader) Mnangagwa is behaving like (the late former Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian) Smith, using violence and intimidation to govern without the consent of the people,” Chamisa said.
During a rally in Mhondoro-Mubaira recently, Zanu PF vice-president Kembo Mohadi let the cat out of the bag when he said all chiefs were required to create a register of their subjects and track who they vote for.
On education, Chamisa said he would bring an end to the Continuous Assessment Learning Activities regime, which has brought discomfort to parents and teachers.
The CCC leader said he would introduce free education at primary level and reintroduce grants at university level.
On devolution, the CCC leader said he would ensure that all towns and cities are empowered to make decisions.
Chamisa said Zimbabweans should change the leader of the country if they wanted development and progress.
“The country is heading in the wrong direction. We need to change the coach and the coach is Mnangagwa. He has failed us, failed this nation and we need a new coach,” he said.
The CCC had to use Sakubva Sports Oval after it failed to secure the main stadium which is under renovation. Newsday

CID Offices Gutted By Fire

By-The Harare Central Police’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) offices were Sunday morning gutted by fire.

The CID offices are in the basement of the Harare Central Police Station.

In a statement to confirm the incident, ZRP said:

The ZRP confirms a fire incident which occurred at ZRP Harare Central complex between 0100 hours and 0800 hours today. Investigations are underway to find out what actually transpired.

This includes the extent of damage to the complex and contents. More details to be released in due course.

Reports suggest that three fire engines were deployed to extinguish the blaze, which was first reported at 1.30 AM.

The incident has sparked a range of opinions, with some questioning the structural soundness of the building while others speculate whether the fire was intentionally set to destroy certain individuals’ case files.

As of now, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has not issued an official statement regarding the incident, leaving room for further investigation and clarification

Mapeza Sings The Blues

For the first time since the romance between Norman Mapeza and FC Platinum began, the miners have been beaten at home in three consecutive league matches.

The defending champions, despite playing very attractive football, appear to be out of sorts as far as getting results is concerned and have not won any of their last five matches.

The poor run of form started with a goalless draw against Dynamos at Babourfields, before a shock 0-1 defeat to Yadah at Mandava.

They then played out a goalless draw with Hwange at the Colliery, before they gifted Sheasham their first win in eight matches —a 2-1 victory for the Gweru-based Premiership debutants.

On Saturday, FC Platinum —who are vying for a record fifth league title in succession, were stunned by Tonderai Ndiraya’s Simba Bhora, at what used to be a citadel Mandava.

Crucially —the platinum miners —despite their reputation of recovering and having a winning momentum when everyone counts them out —lost further ground in the title race after the defeat to Simba.

Mapeza’s men are now 12 points adrift of log leaders Highlanders but the former Warriors captain —typically —is still putting on a brave face.

“For us, we don’t have to give up, we still have to fight and it’s still game on,” said Mapeza.

“There were so many positives in today’s game, but I don’t want to fault anybody. At the end of the day, I’m the coach, if you are talking about results, it’s about me, not anybody else,” he added.

Well-placed sources at the club privy to going-ons, believe Mapeza’s “egotism’ is costing the team.

“He is a solo act kind of coach, which is detrimental in morden football,” said the source.

“He doesn’t listen to anyone, and even his backroom staff’s presence is simply titular.”

Another reliable source at FC Platinum believes the results of Mapeza’s failure to relate well with others at the club
were long overdue.

“Look, this is something that has been going on for sometime, it was not being talked about simply because results were coming but everyone at the club knows the coach doesn’t relate well with others,” said the source.

“Look at the manner in which Tembo Chuma (former goalkeepers coach) left the club. That own it’s on tells you of the fissures at the club, especially in the technical team.”

But Mapeza has always had his way of doing things known by everyone, so why is it affecting results now?

The former Warriors captain is one of the most decorated coaches in Zimbabwe —a man whose love for the game is there for all to see.

Fishing is the only activity which keeps him away from analysing football, but even so, he says it (fishing) helps him to be tactically sound.

What is it that he could be doing now, which he didn’t do all along when he enjoyed success at the Zvishavane-based outfit?

Can it be attributed with certainty that the FC Platinum winless run has only Mapeza’s name written over it?- Soccer24 News Zimbabwe

Caps United Misery Continues

CAPS United suffered their second successive defeat after losing 2-0 to Manica Diamonds in Sunday’s Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 18 encounter.

The Green Machine succumbed to two late goals from Ralph Kawondera to drop to eighth place on the log standings.

Kawondera first hit the target in the 86th minute before rounding up his brace in the stoppage time.

The victory lifted the Gem Boys back to third place on the log.

In Bulawayo, Dynamos played a goalless draw against Hwange.

The Glamour Boys had two disallowed goals among the several chances they created in both halves.

The first effort which was a header from Shadreck Nyahwa, was ruled out for an offside in the 23rd minute.

The second one was disallowed just moments after the hour after the keeper was impeded while trying to clear the ball out of danger.

Hwange, on the other end, had a few threatening chances in the second period with Kelly Shiyandindi denied twice by the keeper.

Elsewhere, Herentals played to a 2-2 draw against Triangle United.

Man Kills Daughter(1) To Boost Mining Business

A horrifying incident has unfolded in Gokwe, Zimbabwe, as an artisanal miner, Thomas Muzenda (38), has been apprehended by the police for the brutal murder of his one-year-old daughter, Nenyasha Muzenda.

Startling details emerged when Muzenda confessed to the heinous act, revealing that he took the innocent life in a ritualistic act aimed at bolstering his mining endeavours. The sh0cking incident has sent sh0ckwaves through the community, highlighting the desperate lengths some individuals may go to in the pursuit of wealth and success.

The tragic events unfolded when Nenyasha Muzenda was reported missing, prompting a police investigation in Gokwe, a region known for its artisanal mining activities. During questioning, Thomas Muzenda sh0ckingly admitted to authorities that he had murdered his own daughter as part of a ritual intended to enhance his mining business. Allegedly, Muzenda had sought the assistance of a traditional healer named Dhumba, who advised him that such a gruesome act would bring prosperity and success to his mining activities.

Following Muzenda’s confession, the police conducted a search and ultimately discovered the remains of the young victim in a disused well located at the Zenda mining area in Gokwe North. The gruesome find further confirmed the harrowing nature of the crime and left the community in a state of sh0ck and disbelief.

Meanwhile, the police are urging anyone with information regarding the murder of Clemence Mwale (30) to come forward and assist with the investigation. Mwale was fatally attacked by unknown assailants on August 3 in Dzivaresekwa, and the authorities are seeking any leads that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

The arrest of Thomas Muzenda has sent sh0ckwaves throughout Zimbabwe, prompting a broader conversation about the lengths some individuals may go to in their pursuit of success. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ethical practices and the need to safeguard vulnerable members of society. – My Zimbabwe News

What Is Geological Mapping?

Geological mapping is the process of creating detailed maps that depict the distribution and characteristics of rocks, minerals and other geological features in a particular area.

It involves the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of geological data including the study of rock types, structures and their spatial relationships. Advantages of Geological Mapping in mineral exploration ….

  1. Identification of Mineralization
Exploration helps to locate areas with pottential mineral deposits. By the Geologist finding the distrubution of various rock types, alteration zones, and geological structures the Geologists can Identify areas were mineralization is likely to occur. This information guides exploration efforts and helps focus resources on areas with the highest mineral pottential.
  2. Targeting exploration activities
Geological maps helps in identifying and defining exploration targets by highlighting areas with favorable geological characteristics. For example maps can identify areas with specific rock formations associated with mineral deposits or areas were geological structures create favourable conditions for mineralization. This information is used to plan and target exploration targets such as drilling, trenching, geophysical studies etc.
  3. Assessing mineral pottential
Geological maps allow Geologists to asses mineral pottential of a region. By Intergrating geological data with other information such as geochemical surveys and geophysical data, the Geologist can evaluate the likelihood of finding economically viable mineral deposits. This helps mining companies prioritize exploration efforts and make informed decisions regarding further investments.

Maid Hires Lorry, Leaves Employer’s House Empty

Police at Kanengo in Lilongwe have arrested a 42-year-old lady, Flora Thom, who hired a lorry and stole her employer’s household items worth over K2 million.

The owner of the house has told police that in June this year he employed Thom as a housemaid at his house in Area 49. Yesterday, August 6, 2023, he and other family members went to church leaving the suspect home.

While her boss was still at church, Thom hired a motor vehicle and packed household items worth over K2 million. But before she left, a boy who was then at a neighbor’s house arrived and immediately informed the owner.

Following a report, police rushed to the scene and rescued the suspect from some angry people. Police also recovered all the items which include furniture, food stuffs, beddings, Plasma TV screen and assorted clothes.

Thom hails from Nangumi Village under Traditional Authority Chimaliro in Thyolo. She is expected to appear in court soon.

Police have since reminded people of the need to be careful and cautious when employing house servants to avoid further incidents of this nature.

Uzumba Crowds Mnangagwa Desert Mnangagwa During Speech: Video

Grace Mugabe’s brother, Mike Bimha has to rush to save Emmerson Mnangagwa during his speech after crowds began deserting him on Saturday…

Mthuli Ncube Is Scared Of Me, Says CCC Cowdray Park Candidate

CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) parliamentary candidate for Cowdray Park says he is not worried about Zanu-PF’s aspiring National Assembly candidate Mthuli Ncube’s perceived influence.

On Wednesday last week, Ncube, who is contesting against CCC’s Pashor Raphael Sibanda, hosted President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF bigwigs at a Star Rally held at Mkhithika grounds in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.

Sibanda, however, told Southern Eye that he is more in touch with the people than Ncube.

“I heard that the opposition Zanu-PF hosted a huge rally. There is nothing new about it. Every party is allowed to do something big or small. They are scared of the election because they attempted to disqualify us,” Sibanda said.

“It proves to people that they fear us. They have no clear idea of where to take the country. That’s why we have load-shedding and dilapidated roads. We have won this election. In 2018 it ended in the courts and this one is starting there.”

He accused the ruling party of hijacking government projects.

“The people of Cowdray Park have to choose between light and darkness, but it’s unfortunate because my brother in the opposition (Mthuli Ncube) is opposing the will of the people.

“That’s why I call them the opposition. They are manipulating the works of the government to campaign. They took the project of TelOne just like they did with the project of the Ministry of Transport. While we appreciate development, we are saying we want sustainable projects,” he said.

Sibanda described Ncube as an outsider in Cowdray Park.

Ncube’s campaign has taken centre stage with him pulling all stops to win Cowdray Park, having recently completed road works there.

CCC has, meanwhile, been skating on thin ice in Cowdray Park after a High Court ruling had banned Sibanda from contesting for alleged late submission of his nomination forms.

Two CCC candidates are vying for ward 6, Nkosinathi Hove Mpofu and Fikezweni Nyoni are campaigning under the same party ticket.

Mpofu, who was at the weekend roadshow campaign insisted that he is the official party candidate.

The council seat is currently occupied by Zanu-PF’s Kidwell Mujuru, who is seeking a comeback.

Anti Riot Police Details Assault Glenview Residents

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) deployed anti- riot police to Glen Norah where they indiscriminately assaulted residents of Tanaka during the night. This action followed the tragic murder of Tinashe Chitsunge, a member of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), by suspected ZANU PF supporters.

Tanaka primarily consists of ZANU PF supporters who were allocated residential stands by the ruling party. In the aftermath of the incident, some individuals sought temporary refuge with their relatives. Notably, police patrols were observed in the area as early as 8 am, indicating an intensified presence.

According to sources, riot police, locally known as the ‘black boots’ arrived on Wednesday night and proceeded to assault individuals. One source mentioned being fortunate not to have been among those attacked and stated their decision to stay with their aunt until the situation calms down. The source told New Zimbabwe:

The black boots came yesterday (Wednesday) at night and went about beating up people.

We were fortunate not to have been part of those beaten. I have since decided to go to my aunt’s house for a few days until the situation here subsides.

Residents expressed fear in commenting on the matter. Police on Friday reported that ten suspects had been arrested in connection with Chitsunge’s murder. Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe later claimed 12 had been arrested. He said:

My ministry deeply regrets the loss of life which occurred and passes its condolences to the family of Tinashe Edson Chitsunge. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has since arrested 12 suspects in connection with this sad incident.

CCC leader Nelson Chamisa condemned the brutal killing and called on the police to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served. Amnesty International, an international human rights organisation, also strongly condemned the violent murder of Tinashe Edson Chitsunge.

Eyewitnesses reported that Chitsunge was brutally assaulted by suspected Zanu-PF supporters while heading to a rally at Tanaka grounds. Although the rally had police authorisation, some Zanu-PF supporters disregarded the authorities and took control of the location. CCC engaged the police to displace the Zanu-PF crowds but was overwhelmed, leading to the ruling party supporters viciously attacking Chitsunge.

Zanu PF In Humiliating U-turn Over R_apist Reward

By A Correspondent- The ruling Zanu-PF party has denied rewarding convicted rapist Bobby Makaza with a house and a substantial amount of cash during a presidential rally in Mutawatawa, Mashonaland East province, on Saturday.

Makaza was sentenced to 16 years in prison by a Murewa magistrate in 2019 after raping a 10-year-old girl a year earlier.

He, however, served less than five years of the sentence after he was released together with more than 4 200 other prisoners following a clemency order signed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on May 19 this year.

The party in a tweet said it is not true that the minister Mchakaire met Makaza neither did he promise to build him a house.

Said Zanu PF:

“It’s not true. Minister Machakaire did not meet Cde Bobby Makaza. He did not promise to build him a house.”

We publish below reactions from twimbos:

Reported the Newsday:

The amnesty, which was aimed at decongesting prisons and give offenders a second chance, was met with mixed reactions.

Soon after leaving prison, Makaza became a celebrity in the ruling party for coining Zanu-PF’s 2023 election campaign slogan: “ED Huchi”, which is extensively being used at its rallies.

During the rally, Zanu-PF political commissar Mike Bimha announced that the party’s youth secretary Tinoda Machakaire is building a house for the ex-convict.

Makaza also walked away with US$700 in cash after Machakaire gave him US$500 while other party members chipped in with US$200.

“Cde Machakaire is building him a house and has also given him cash. Other party members have also chipped in with some cash incentives,” Bimha announced at the rally.

Makaza was called to the high table to meet Mnangagwa, but could not make it in time because he was too far from the podium.

Clad in all-white Zanu-PF regalia, Makaza enjoyed celebrity status as ruling party supporters jostled to have pictures taken with him.

Civil society organisations, women’s rights activists and opposition political parties have, however, condemned his release, calling it a slap in the face to survivors of sexual assault and an affront to the principles of justice and accountability.

Witwatersrand University based political analyst Romeo Chasara said the ruling Zanu-PF was setting a wrong precedent by “celebrating” rapists.

“This move by Zanu-PF raises serious questions about the party’s commitment to addressing gender-based violence and promoting justice in Zimbabwe. By rewarding a convicted rapist with a house and cash, the ruling party sends a dangerous message that crimes of this nature can be overlooked and perpetrators can be celebrated. This undermines the efforts of survivors and activists who have been tirelessly advocating for justice and accountability,” he said.

Former Cabinet minister Walter Mzembi castigated Zanu-PF, describing the move as a new low.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us in resetting societal norms and values, redefining what we celebrate as a nation. Rebranding a paroled rapist convict of minor children as a celebrity for coining a campaign slogan ‘ED Huchi’ is a low for many,” he said.

Following the pampering, the activists said the party’s actions not only trivialised the gravity of the crime committed, but also perpetuated a culture of impunity.

In July, Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Paidamoyo Saurombe of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights wrote to the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu demanding to know on what basis Makaza qualified for amnesty.

Chinopfukutwa and Saurombe were acting on instruction from the victim’s family.

If a court rules that Makaza’s release was illegal, the ZPCS could be forced to re-imprison him and others who were freed.

Prisons said the amnesty for the 4 270 inmates was meant to decongest Zimbabwe jails, but victims of violent crimes said they were not consulted before the perpetrators were freed.

Gvt “Dumps” Unemployed Teachers

By A Correspondent- Government has told jobless teachers to open their own schools as it cannot employ all of them into the country’s education system.

This was said by Higher and Tertiary Education deputy minister Raymond Machingura during a graduation ceremony at Belvedere Teachers’ College on Friday.

Machingura was speaking in an interview with a local radio station on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony.

“Unemployed teachers should start their own companies which produce stationery and other consumables used in schools or even start their own schools.

“If you look at it, private schools are charging exorbitant fees. So if we have our own teachers with their own private schools, they will not be charging high fees but will be providing quality education,” Machingura said.

The country, with a student population of six million, has a deficit of 3 000 schools.

The government last year launched a blitz across the country to close down hundreds of schools and colleges which were operating illegally.

A//bulawayo24.com&dtd=119A total of 320 out of 448 schools and colleges identified as operating illegally were shut down by authorities in Harare.

But early this year, government re-registered the private schools which had been shut down to accommodate thousands of South Africa-based pupils who are likely to join their parents coming back home following the expiry of Zimbabwe Exemption Permits.

National Council of Student Teachers president Walter Muzamani said encouraging teachers to start their own schools was an admission that the education system has failed.

“That teachers should start their own schools is an admission that it has failed to manage the education system. The government has failed to fund the education system which has resulted in the private education sector thriving.

“It is a fact that private schools are offering quality education compared to public schools,” Muzamani said.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association secretary-general Goodwill Taderera said the establishment of more private schools would result in the further collapse of the public education system.

“If teachers become entrepreneurs, then the education system will be commercialised. It’s privatising the education system which is exclusive to low-income earners. Accessibility to education will be compromised. Government undertook to provide quality education and has to stick to that mandate and not abdicate its responsibility to job-seeking teachers,” Taderera said.

“Currently, people are using ramshackle buildings as schools which have serious effects on the safety of learners. Government has failed to employ teachers and privatisation of education cannot be the solution.”

Zanu PF Dates Hwange

By A Correspondent- The Zanu-PF campaign train rolls into Jambezi in Hwange district today where the party’s Secretary for Administration Dr Obert Mpofu is expected to address multitudes of supporters.

Jambezi falls under the Hwange East constituency and Cde Mpofu will be drumming up support for President Mnangagwa and the party’s candidate for the National Assembly seat, Cde Alois Sikuka.

Cde Mpofu, who arrived in Victoria Falls yesterday from Mutawatawa in Mashonaland East province where he attended a star rally addressed by President Mnangagwa, said the revolutionary party is on a massive voter mobilisation drive countrywide.

“We will be in Jambezi for a campaign rally which is part of the mobilisation by the party. Yesterday I was in Mutawatawa and I have just arrived here in Victoria Falls ahead of tomorrow’s rally with the candidate for Hwange East,” he said.

Cde Mpofu said the party is not leaving any stone unturned in its drive for 5 million votes for President and Zanu-PF is targeting a clean sweep on August 23.

The rally will be held at Jambezi Centre.

Hwange has three constituencies namely Hwange Central and the Zanu-PF candidate is Cde Reeds Dube, Hwange East with Cde Sikuka and Hwange West where Cde Philani Moyo is the candidate.

Cde Sikuka said he had done his homework in the constituency where he started with door-to-door campaign in every village, interacting with party members and other voters.

He said he established that Zanu-PF has been losing in Hwange largely because of protests over some issues that need to be addressed.

Cde Sikuka said now is the time to address the issues and Zanu-PF will win the seat.

“We will be having Cde Mpofu for the campaign rally in the constituency where I am the candidate. This is an honour and everyone is looking forward to it especially looking at the fact that Cde Mpofu is a son of Jambezi,” he said.

“I have been campaigning in the whole constituency doing village-to-village engagement, teaching Zanu-PF ideology starting with the history of the party and Zimbabwe in general up to independence and formation of opposition parties.”

“I have been asking why people vote for the opposition and the conclusion we established is that this has been a protest vote. People don’t like the opposition.”

Cde Sikuka said there are simple things that need to be addressed to woo the voters such as sharing regalia and welcoming newcomers wholeheartedly.

“President Mnangagwa said that Zanu-PF pocket is big and can fit everyone. That has been my strategy and the response has been positive so far as people are seeing an all-inclusive message,” he said.

President Mnangagwa praised Mashonaland East province on Saturday for mobilising the largest gathering, so far, of ruling Zanu-PF supporters for his presidential election rally at Mutawatawa in Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe.

Open Your Own Schools, Govt Tells Teachers

Government has told jobless teachers to open their own schools as it cannot employ all of them into the country’s education system.

Zanu PF Is Now Celebrating And Rewarding Convicted Rapist

The ruling Zanu PF party rewarded convicted rapist Bobby Makaza with a house and a substantial amount of cash during a presidential rally in Mutawatawa, Mashonaland East province, on Saturday.

The released prisoners included, according to government, rapists and murderers who had turned 60 or older.

The amnesty, which was aimed at decongesting prisons and give offenders a second chance, was met with mixed reactions.

Soon after leaving prison, Makaza became a celebrity in the ruling party for coining Zanu PF’s 2023 election campaign slogan: “ED Huchi”, which is extensively being used at its rallies.

During the rally, Zanu PF political commissar Mike Bimha announced that the party’s youth secretary Tinoda Machakaire is building a house for the ex-convict.

Clad in all-white Zanu PF regalia, Makaza enjoyed celebrity status as ruling party supporters jostled to have pictures taken with him.

Civil society organisations, women’s rights activists and opposition political parties have, however, condemned his release, calling it a slap in the face to survivors of sexual assault and an affront to the principles of justice and accountability.

Witwatersrand University based political analyst Romeo Chasara said the ruling Zanu PF was setting a wrong precedent by “celebrating” rapists.

“This move by Zanu PF raises serious questions about the party’s commitment to addressing gender-based violence and promoting justice in Zimbabwe. By rewarding a convicted rapist with a house and cash, the ruling party sends a dangerous message that crimes of this nature can be overlooked and perpetrators can be celebrated. This undermines the efforts of survivors and activists who have been tirelessly advocating for justice and accountability,” he said.

Former Cabinet minister Walter Mzembi castigated Zanu PF, describing the move as a new low.

The former Prosecutor General was visiting his rural home in Honde Valley attending a funeral of a relative when he fell sick suddenly, complaining of “stomach pain”, after eating some food at the funeral according to relatives.

“We shared our concerns with Ruda police in Honde Valley and we were informed that CID Forensics is on its way from Harare,” a distraught relative said.

He was fired in 2017 for misconduct and incompetence after a tribunal set up by former president Robert Mugabe recommended his dismissal.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed him ambassador to the DRC in 2020.

“Tomana was one of the finest lawyers that Zimbabwe has produced, it’s a pity that his detour to political and diplomatic office deprived some of us of his tremendous legal skills,” academic Ibbo Mandaza said in a tribute.

Johannes Tomana (9 September 1967 – 6 August 2023) was a Zimbabwean attorney. He served as Prosecutor-General of Zimbabwe from November 2013 until his dismissal in June 2017.

He was a tolerant man, but he knew when to be intolerant and of what. He was intolerant of anything that was not excellent, and of people who were not honorable. He has a very critical sense by which he knew could dispense justice without the rigidities that the technical approach to that created.

Remembering Johannes Tomana: A Controversial Yet Skilled Jurist

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Zimbabwe’s legal community mourns the loss of one of its finest legal minds, Johannes Tomana, who passed away suddenly at the age of 56. Tomana’s life was characterized by both eminence and controversy, leaving a lasting impact on the nation’s judicial system and legal landscape.

A highly accomplished lawyer, Tomana’s career was marked by significant achievements. He served as Zimbabwe’s Attorney General in 2009 and later took up the position of Prosecutor General in 2013. While his journey was not without its ups and downs, Johannes Tomana’s contributions to Zimbabwe’s legal landscape will be remembered for generations to come. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Farewell, great lawyer.

The Key Factors Of Mining

practical lessons to mining

Like every business mining has its key factors that can make it do extremely well or fail .

Most miners think a good sample will make them succeed unfortunately a good sample is not sustainable unless you know the importance of the following factors in the mining sector. If you master them day by day you will blossom even in dark days and enjoy glory days to the fullest.

Enjoy the ride .
Three pillars of wholesome mining in order
1 strategic management
2 Debt
3 the boss ” gold panner ” tsheketsha korokoza

1 strategic management
The mine manager is key to function his impact is so crucial such his complete absence can be measured by a lot of red flags like low output ; loss of equipment; no records ; lack of proper compliance and production that cannot be measured let alone be sustainable. Before you appoint a manager know your weakness and hire someone who will compliment your weakness. Secondly create a management team that involves you and him stop cellphone management of any kind . Cellphones are good for reports and analysis only . To your team third person in form of someone who compliments his weak ; it can be a blaster or cyanide plant manager depending on which area your manager is good at .

First attribute of your manager should be administration before anything then followed by one of the two pillars of mining leaching and mining. The security guard is not part of

In “Business”
causes of all Debts you hear about in mining stories. First artisanal miners use cheapest means to reap gold Most cases they don’t have transport and milling means this leads to smart loans by service providers then all problems begin here .

On top of that all services are available on short term based loan usually supported by black market indirectly which explains why black market cannot disappear overnight.

Since gold is not guaranteed failure to pay these loans forces credit to accumulate to so high levels such that its not surprising to find a mine owner or even worker owing 20 000usd or more ranging from diesel credit, stampmill credit, explosives credit ; rental and electricity credit for domestic purposes or many more . Inorder to survive you have to acquire debt management skills that are not only superb but partnered with discipline. When you decide to invest in a mine a guy with more debt is the perfect partner depending on your analysis because of few factors. If he/she has more it means his mine has a huge potential just mismanagement who can borrow someone with no means to pay .

Number two you use his/ her debt as insurance through what l call debt purchase ” . This desires caution carefully study and implementation. You take his debt but still keep it in his name negotiate for payment plan where possible complete erasing of some of them ( that’s possible ) then use his debt to double you investment on him takes years repairing his debt yet already making profits on it . Let’s miner owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine . Sometimes you buy personal debt only but be cautious. Will cover debt in a separate post .
3 The boss “tsheketsha; korokoza “
We have a saying ” impara ngelikatsheketsha ” . This means every goldminer has a dry spell or good spell . This means no matter how cautious you are the dry spell will hit you very hard . When supporting this guys financial remember this all the time support them based on performance in areas Iike 1 transparency; consistency, accountability more than the sample. Don’t support them when they are doing well by buying cars and houses at that point they don’t need your help they simply want to use you . Treat them as Kings all the time but don’t borrow them money like you are mother Theresa support them don’t spoiler them hunger and suffering is the manager of “the boss ” the rest is cost .

Respect them their dirty is the business part personally any clean person in the mining sector Most probably is a scammmer l don’t trust such lots of them proved to me beyond doubt .

NB for debt purchase model inbox or even debt purchase itself.

NGO Wary Of Violence

By A Correspondent

Violence is not the solution to the political crisis in the country, Petronellah Lilly Kwanisai the director of Girl Child Empowerment of Zimbabwe has said.

Kwanisai called for political tolerance and castigated violence against women. The recurrence of violence during elections has continuous negative ripple effects to the participation of women in electoral processes as the assumptions of an election being violent and intolerant of women are always evidence.

“As Masvingo residents and Zimbabwean
citizens we urge all political party leaders to continue preaching the gospel of dialogue and peace to
their supporters. Political leaders must take lead in denouncing violence in any part of the nation.

Unfortunately, women’s rights defenders are summoned, threatened, beaten and denied access to participate in the political arena. As a women’s rights defenders, we demand our space, opportunity to operate and participate in national processes without any threats, intimidation and closing our space.

Zimbabwe has seen so much violence over the past decades and it is high time political leaders should promote national peace, healing and tolerance.

Our voices are suppressed as each day passes, we are threatened with land evictions in Chiredzi and Mwenezi without proper consultations. We urge the government of the day to understand that women’s rights are human rights,” said Kwanisai.

Zimbabwe’s St John’s College Wins 1st Place in Prestigious British Piping Competition

By Farai D Hove | In a historic victory, Zimbabwe’s St John’s College pipe band has emerged triumphant in the highly competitive Dundonald Highland Games in Scotland. The school’s announcement stated that the band’s exceptional performance earned them the coveted first place in the piping competition, cementing their place as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.

The momentous event took place on Saturday, 5th August, as the band members drove approximately 30 minutes to Dundonald, a picturesque town in Glasgow’s southwest. This marked their first-ever competition in Scotland, making the win even more significant for the young musicians. In a display of remarkable courage, they faced stiff competition from eight adult bands, adding to the excitement and nerves surrounding the event.

Upon their arrival in Dundonald, the St John’s College pipe band wasted no time, conducting a productive tune-up session to ensure they were in top form for the competition. The band members displayed unwavering focus and eagerness to showcase their exceptional talents, a testament to their relentless dedication and hard work.

The day commenced with a spirited street march, where the band proudly paraded from the Parish Church down the hill to the Playing Fields below Dundonald Castle. Their captivating performance caught the attention of onlookers and set the stage for the main event – the Pipe bands competition.

After a brief hour of rest to regroup and mentally prepare, the St John’s College pipe band took the stage once again. Their passion and precision during the March selection wowed the judges, earning them the first place in the piping section. The drumming section also delivered an outstanding performance, securing a commendable second place. This combined effort contributed to the band’s overall success, ultimately leading them to be awarded the first place in the entire competition.

The achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication and immense talent of the St John’s College pipe band. Their triumph in Scotland not only brings pride to the school but also serves as an inspiration to young musicians across Zimbabwe and beyond.

In a statement following the victory, the school expressed their immense pride in the band’s accomplishments. The College pipe band has showcased the country’s rich musical heritage on an international platform with great distinction. They are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone and are looking forward to sharing more updates and achievements from the talented musicians in the future.

This victory will undoubtedly go down in the annals of St John’s College history and serves as a shining example of what passion, hard work, and perseverance can achieve. The whole nation joins in celebrating the band’s success and eagerly awaits their next triumphs as they continue to make Zimbabwe proud.

Mwonzora Top Aide Defects To Chamisa

By- One of the opposition MDC led by Douglas Mwonzora and Warren Park Councillor, Tichavona Mhetu, has defected to CCC, citing Mwonzora’s lack of prospects in Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections.

Mhetu announced his resignation at a rally for CCC’s Epworth North Parliamentary candidate, Zivai Mhetu, his younger brother. He emphasised the need to support an opposition party with a realistic chance of removing the entrenched regime that has held power for 43 years. Mhetu endorsed CCC as a viable alternative, highlighting the widespread support for the party and its youthful leadership. He said:

We have been in the trenches for a very long time and no sane person who has a background of opposition politics will rally behind a candidate who does not have a realistic chance of dislodging the monstrous regime at the helm for 43 years.

I am saying to all and sundry it a good decision to rally behind an opposition party that has a chance to unseat Zanu PF.

You can see everywhere people are saying yes to CCC, yes to yellow, yes to the young and the writing is on the wall.

This departure comes just weeks after the party’s spokesperson Witness Dube defected to the ruling ZANU PF party. Mwonzora’s predicament worsened with the High Court’s ruling, which disqualified 87 of his aspiring Members of Parliament from contesting on August 23. Only 24 out of the party’s initial 210 candidates remain eligible for the election, significantly diminishing their presence.

Ambassador Tomana was deployed to serve as the country’s top diplomat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in September 2020 and before that, he had served as the Attorney General between 2008 and 2013.

He also served as the country’s Prosecutor General in 2013 when Zimbabwe adopted the new constitution that created the position of Prosecutor General.

Another Top MDC Official Deserts Mwonzora For Chamisa

By- It never rains but pours for the Opposition MDC led by Douglas Mwonzora as his Warren Park Councillor, Tichavona Mhetu, deserted the party and resigned, citing Mwonzora’s lack of prospects in Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections.

Mhetu announced his resignation at a rally for CCC’s Epworth North Parliamentary candidate, Zivai Mhetu his younger brother.

Tech-Driven Techniques Interior Decorators in Zimbabwe Should Know

Source: Pexels

Technology has undoubtedly brought about great improvements in all facets of life and industry. From medicine to engineering, tech has changed how things are done, and the interior design industry has not been left out. Technology has changed the way the interior design industry has vastly evolved, from regular practices to more modern styles.

According to a report by Statista in 2020, 29% of consumers in the United States rated modern home décor styles favourably. If you are a Zimbabwean interior decorator, you could leverage the steps below to up your interior decor game.

Creative Solution to Wall Hangings

Whilst the term ‘technology’ in the home may bring to mind computer screens, AI and sensors, there are many examples of basic tools like nails now having a modern solution. For example, the custom of hanging pictures and other decor items on nails is gradually phasing out. Not only can nails damage your walls and leave unsightly holes, but they can also be difficult to remove. Fortunately, one of the tech-driven alternatives that stands out for its convenience and smart look is the ability to mount hooks without nails. Mounting hooks without nails entails using adhesive strips to attach hooks to your walls, making them easy to install and remove without causing any damage.

With these modern adhesive hooks and mounting strips, homeowners and decorators can now hang artwork, mirrors, and other decor items securely and without causing any damage. Thus, they are ideal for Zimbabwean homes where preserving the integrity of the walls is crucial.

Virtual Reality: Immersive Visualisation for Designers

Source: Pexels

Gone are the days when interior decorators had to rely solely on their imagination to envision a new design. Virtual reality (VR) has modernised how interior decoration is planned and executed. With VR, decorators and clients can virtually tour their potential interiors.

You can even create a 3D model of your space and experiment with different colour schemes, designs, layouts, furniture arrangements, and decor elements without physically lifting a paintbrush or moving furniture around. This immersive visualisation allows you to see how your space will look before making any changes, saving you time and money in the process.

Smart Home Automation for Ultimate Convenience

Smart home technology is a booming industry that has revolutionised interior decoration. In a smart home, devices and appliances are conveniently set up to function automatically by remote control with your smartphone or any other internet-connected mobile device.

For instance, you can control security access to your home and home theatre and switch on and off heating and lighting. By incorporating smart home devices and systems, interior spaces can be transformed into highly functional and efficient living environments. It also contributes to energy efficiency and promotes sustainable living practices as well.

Little wonder the global smart home market was estimated to be between $86.48 billion and $91.30 billion in 2022. And the boom doesn’t end there. The market is predicted to grow significantly for years to come, with estimates ranging from $195.73 billion to $581.85 billion by 2030. What does this tell you? The world is fast embracing tech-driven techniques to better our lives, enjoy premium comfort and evolve.

As technology continues to evolve, so does the world of interior decoration. Zimbabwean interior decorators now have a plethora of tech-driven techniques at their disposal to create visually stunning and functional living spaces.

So, take that step to elevate home interiors to new heights and embrace the wonders of modern innovation. Feel free to explore the world of tech-driven interior decoration and embark on a journey of amazing creativity.

Elisabeth Valerio Confident Of Victory

Political Correspondent

United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) leader, Elisabeth Valerio is confident of victory in the coming polls.

Although Political observers say the 2023 Presidential election is an epic duel between bitter rivals Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zanu PF and Nelson Chamisa (CCC), Valerio sees herself as a dark horse capable of pulling a shocker.

Byo Police Officially Protect DrugLords

Police Issue Contradictory Messages on Drug Abuse Exposure and Filming of Intoxicated Individuals

By Farai D Hove | In a baffling turn of events, the police in Bulawayo have issued contradictory messages regarding the exposure of drug abuse and the filming of intoxicated individuals. The controversial statements were revealed in the state-owned Sunday News, sparking a debate on the importance of documenting criminal activities for public safety.

The confusion arose when the police warned the public against recording videos of vulnerable people or those in distress, stating that it is a criminal offense and anyone caught doing so would be liable to arrest. This comes after a video of a suspected Nyamande Primary School pupil, visibly drunk and disorderly, went viral on social media.

In the video, the learner, a senior student at the school, is seen sitting in what appears to be a school office, surrounded by school authorities. The police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, explained that the learner had stolen money from his grandmother to purchase alcohol, which he mixed with a fizzy soft drink. The boy consumed the concoction during class time, leading to his intoxication and unacceptable behavior.

While the police claimed that they were investigating the video, they simultaneously issued a warning against filming such incidents. This raised concerns among the public as capturing evidence through videos is crucial for exposing crime, especially drug peddling and substance abuse that have become rampant in communities and schools across the country.

The police’s stance on discouraging the filming of intoxicated individuals contradicts their role in safeguarding the public’s well-being. Filming such incidents not only helps in identifying drug peddlers and suppliers but also serves as evidence for initiating legal action against those involved in drug-related crimes.

However, the police justified their warning, urging authorities, teachers, parents, and members of the public to refrain from recording videos of vulnerable individuals. Instead, they emphasized the need for protection and the implementation of appropriate medical measures, such as contacting parents, police, or other relevant stakeholders when dealing with such situations.

The situation has drawn attention to the alarming rise of drug abuse among young people in Bulawayo and the urgent need for rehabilitation facilities. Ingutsheni Central Hospital, the sole public psychiatric institution in the city, is grappling with a high number of drug and substance abuse victims, with admissions continuing to surge regularly.

Authorities from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education have expressed their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards substance abuse in schools. However, there is a pressing need for a coherent and consistent approach from law enforcement agencies when it comes to dealing with drug-related issues.

As the controversy continues to unfold, the public calls for clarity from the police on their stance regarding the filming of incidents related to drug abuse and substance intoxication. Balancing the preservation of individuals’ dignity and privacy with the necessity of documenting criminal activities for public safety remains a challenging task that requires careful consideration and open dialogue among stakeholders.

Learn More About Sexual Exploitation

Tackling all forms of sexual misconduct

Sexual misconduct – exploitation, sexual abuse, sexual harassment (SEAH), sexual violence – by our personnel violates the rights and well-being of the people we serve and the people with whom we serve. Such behaviours are directly in opposition to WHO’s values and our abiding responsibility to do no harm.

Sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) of the populations we serve, and sexual harassment (SH) of our own workforce require similar prevention and response approaches because they stem from the same power differentials, inequities, drivers, and risks. Using the umbrella term, sexual misconduct, clarifies that these acts pertain to the WHO workforce, are prohibited, and therefore lead to disciplinary action.

WHO has zero tolerance for any form of sexual misconduct, for inaction and for retaliation against those who raise complaints or bear witness. Our work prioritizes the rights and needs of victims and survivors.

In 2021, WHO launched an intense period of prevention and response actions following the harrowing accounts of victims and survivors of SEA during the 10th Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo encapsulated in the Management Response Plan that concluded in December 2023. To build on and institutionalize this progress, our future work is framed by the three-year strategy for preventing and responding to sexual misconduct.

NGO Denounces Violence

Wrong Destination for Nigerian Quartet

By A Correspondent- Four Nigerian men illegally boarded a cargo ship hoping to reach Europe, but were shocked to learn they had landed on the other side of the Atlantic, in Brazil.

They travelled approximately 5,600km (3,500 miles) across the ocean on the rudder – a flat or curved piece of material attached to a boat or ship’s back that helps to steer and navigate it, surviving on minimal food and drink.

After ten days at sea, they ran out of supplies and resorted to drinking seawater to survive for another four days before being rescued by the Brazilian federal police in Vitoria.

Aj Jazeera reports that two of the men were returned to Nigeria upon their request, while the other two applied for asylum in Brazil.

Roman Ebimene Friday, a 35-year-old from Bayelsa state, had attempted to flee Nigeria by ship once before but was arrested by authorities there. He and Thankgod Opemipo Matthew Yeye, a Pentecostal minister from Lagos State, said that economic hardship, political instability, and crime had left them with little option but to abandon their native Nigeria. Yeye’s peanut and palm oil farm had been destroyed by floods, leaving him and his family homeless. A 38-year-old Thankgod Opemipo Matthew Yeye said:

It was a terrible experience for me. On board, it is not easy. I was shaking, so scared. But I’m here.

Friday said during their journey, they played cat and mouse with the ship’s crew to avoid being seen and potentially thrown overboard. They remained silent and tied themselves to a net rigged around the rudder with a rope. The cramped conditions, noise of the engine, and proximity to the ocean made sleep rare and risky.

Father Paolo Parise, a priest at the Sao Paulo shelter, noted that their journey exemplified the lengths people will go to in search of a new start. It also highlighted the inherent dangers that migrants face in their quest for better lives.

The phenomenon of Africans leaving their countries in search of better economic opportunities and political stability is a significant challenge that continues to affect the continent. During their journeys, many migrants face significant dangers and challenges, including the use of dangerous and illegal routes, human trafficking, and abuse and exploitation. Unfortunately, some feel that they have no other choice but to take these risks in order to improve their circumstances.

Africa is a continent with vast natural resources, yet its citizens often find themselves living in abject poverty. The failure to see the benefits of these resources has been attributed to several factors, including corruption, lack of value-addition and beneficiation, exploitation, and maladministration.

ZEC Break in Baffling

Incredible revelations that thieves broke into the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) headquarters in Harare on Sunday night cannot fleet by without us casting our curious gaze at this mouth-gaping incident.

We hear that three laptops belonging to chief elections officer Utloile Silaigwana and his secretary went missing after suspected robbers broke into what we all believe is a heavily-guarded premise located in the capital’s central business district.

Zec and the police have since confirmed this more-than-shocking occurrence, which has come a few days before the country’s crucial general elections pencilled for August 23.

This incident does not augur well for Zec which, we are afraid to say, has so far proved to be struggling to convince all and sundry that it is capable of credibly conducting this year’s polls.

Whatever the ongoing investigations into the break-in at Zec will unravel, it will not erase the fact that the institution’s reputation and capability to prepare and conduct an election have been gravely compromised.

Anyone can lose property to thieves, but losing critical property to burglars at a crucial time for the entire nation is something else.

If some people do not resign under such circumstances, then heads must roll to drive home the point that people need to be serious when it comes to matters of national interest.

Honestly speaking, as it stands, the entire electoral process has been seriously compromised and it cannot be ruled out that the stolen laptops may be containing important information which may include the voters roll, a document which will be at the centre of polling on August 23.

If Zec had been transparent from the word go and openly shared everything it was doing with stakeholders, we would not be worried because everything would have been in the public domain.

However, because there have been heated controversy over many issues pertaining to processes leading to the August polls, it is now anyone’s guess as to what this break-in entails.

Many will be forgiven for pondering over the security of their vote after casting their ballots on August 23, when thieves can break into a heavily-guarded building and walk away with vital equipment which may be pivotal to the country’s general elections.

Whatever the conclusion of the investigation into the break-in will reveal, it will not erase the doubts lingering in our minds as far as the credibility of this election is concerned.

15 New Magistrates Sworn In

The Judicial Service Commission has today sworn in 15 magistrates drawn from different fields as Government beefs up magisterial staff to enhance the justice delivery system.

The 15 magistrates were sworn in at the Harare Magistrates Court by the Chief Magistrate Mrs Faith Mushure and are set to take up magisterial posts across the country.

Briefing journalists, Mrs Mushure said the swearing in will go a long way in strengthening the magisterial bench.

“We swore into office 15 magistrates comprising six males and nine females. I think in recent weeks we have sworn the largest group of male magistrates. The group brings our total magistrates to 229 magistrates comprising 87 males and 142 female magistrates.

“They have been drawn from a cross section of professions meant to strengthen the bench. Five of the appointees are coming from the private practice. They were legal practitioners in private practice and eight have been drawn from the JSC. They were either court interpreters, judge assistant or researchers.

“One is coming from the Ministry of Primary an d Secondary Education and another from the ZRP. We have already deployed them to beef up our staff like in Bikita, Karoi, Kezi, Mberengwa, Chipinge,” said Mrs Mushure.

Chamisa Top Aide Loses Car To Good Samaritan

By- A top Citizans Coalition Change (CCC) member Thabitha Khumalo was left counting her losses after a man who had offered to help her to connect a battery to her car sped off with the vehicle before he was involved in an accident in Gweru.
A source close to the incident said while Khumalo was at her home in Bulawayo’s Sauerstown suburb connecting a battery to her car, Patrick Ncube came and offered to help her.
“He helped her connect the battery and after that Ncube jumped inside the car and drove off at high speed. Khumalo tried to stop him to no avail,” said the source.
Khumalo phoned him several times but his phone was not being answered, the source further said.
The source said after two days Khumalo called Ncube but his phone was answered by a woman who told her that he had been involved in an accident.
“The call was answered by a lady who told her that Ncube was admitted to Gweru General Hospital after he was involved in an accident. The lady said he suffered serious injuries,” said the source.
Later on the same day Khumalo phoned Ncube and he answered and confirmed that he was involved in an accident.
“He also told her that the car was impounded by the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) in Gweru and told her that US$300 is needed to repair the damaged car,” said the source.
Khumalo reported the incident at Sauerstown Police Station leading to Ncube’s arrest.
Ncube said: “She (Khumalo) came to our workplace and asked me to help connect the battery to her car and I assisted her. After that she asked me to test drive and I drove to Gweru.”
He added: “While I was in Gweru intending to drive to Shurugwi I was involved in an accident.

Mafume Brings Back Rufaro To Rufaro Stadium

By Dorrothy Moyo | In the heart of Harare, where dreams take flight,
Stands Rufaro Stadium, once a shadow in the night.
But now, a beacon of hope, it gleams with delight,
All thanks to Mayor Mfume, his vision burning bright.

Barely five years ago, he took the reins,
Over the capital city, where ambition refrains,
Yet undeterred, he forged ahead, not for personal gains,
But to bring back joy, break free from the chains.

Amidst an economic crisis, he faced the storm,
Undaunted, he set out to transform,
The sports facility, once forlorn,
With the efficiency of a trillion-dollar norm.

In a nation plagued with struggles and strife,
He showed resilience, brought back life,
With wisdom and grace, he wielded the knife,
Cutting through obstacles, sharp as a knife.

The entire country marveled in awe,
At the stadium’s revival, none could foresaw,
A leap into the future, a dream they all saw,
A testament to his leadership, without a flaw.

In the face of restrictions, he stood tall,
Championing progress, breaking the wall,
He painted a picture, a vision for all,
A future so bright, it left them enthralled.

Mayor Mfume, a true visionary,
In his hands, the city’s destinies carry,
With passion and love, he’s made them merry,
The echoes of joy now, they’ll forever parry.

So let the trumpets sound, and banners fly,
In Rufaro Stadium, hearts soar to the sky,
A legacy built, as the years go by,
For a hundred years, its joy will never die.

Investigate Electoral Violence, Minister Orders Police, While Totally Ignoring The Missing ZRP Cop

Zimbabwe’s Home Affairs Minister Faces Scrutiny Over Sincerity in Investigating Electoral Violence.

Minister Kazembe Kazembe

By Farai D Hove | In the aftermath of a violent incident at Chimbumu Grounds, Tanaka new stands, Glenview 7, Harare, Zimbabwe’s Home Affairs Minister, Kazembe Kazembe, issued a statement condemning political violence and ordering the police to arrest the perpetrators. However, questions have arisen regarding the sincerity of these orders, as the minister’s actions, or lack thereof, paint a different picture.

The Missing Police Officer and Cabinet Minister’s Threat:

One of the major points of concern is the apparent inaction by Minister Kazembe Kazembe concerning a missing police officer who was allegedly threatened by a cabinet minister over electoral crimes. The minister’s silence on this matter has raised suspicions of selective enforcement and protection of individuals within the ruling party. Critics argue that genuine commitment to combating electoral violence would require investigating all instances of threats and violence, regardless of the alleged perpetrators’ political stature or affiliation.

Open Plans for Post-Election Violence:

Another contentious issue is the minister’s failure to address the threats made by the ruling party Spokesman, Chris Mutsvangwa. Mutsvangwa openly announced plans to unleash violence aimed at overthrowing a new governmnt if it is led by any party other than ZANU PF, after the announcement of the 2023 election results. Despite these explicit threats of post-election violence, Minister Kazembe Kazembe has not taken any visible action against Mutsvangwa, leading to accusations of selective condemnation and double standards.

Minister Kazembe’s Statement and its Credibility:

In the recent statement, Minister Kazembe Kazembe asserted the government’s stance against political violence and pledged to hold all perpetrators accountable. He also emphasized the need for credible, free, and fair elections. However, critics argue that these words hold little weight in the absence of tangible actions addressing the missing police officer’s case and the threats of post-election violence.

The Chimbumu Grounds Incident:

While the Minister expressed regret for the loss of life in the Chimbumu Grounds incident and promised swift action, it remains to be seen how the investigation will proceed. The Zimbabwe Republic Police’s arrest of twelve suspects is a positive step, but many are watching closely to ensure that the investigations are thorough, impartial, and devoid of any political interference.

Calls for Accountability and Fair Elections:

Amidst these concerns, civil society organizations, opposition parties, and international observers have called for accountability and transparency in handling electoral violence cases. They have urged the government to ensure that all instances of violence are thoroughly investigated, regardless of the political affiliation of the perpetrators.

As the nation prepares for the Harmonized Elections scheduled for August 23, 2023, the credibility of the electoral process and the sincerity of the Home Affairs Minister’s commitment to combat political violence are under scrutiny. Zimbabweans are hoping for a peaceful and democratic election that truly reflects the will of the people, and it is incumbent upon the government to uphold this democratic ideal by taking meaningful action against electoral violence and threats. Only through fair and transparent investigations, free from political bias, can Zimbabwe move towards a more stable and inclusive political environment.

Madhuku Humiliated

NATIONAL Constitutional Assembly Presidential Candidate, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, says his party will come up with a new constitution aligned with the people’s needs if he is elected to office.

Twenty days before Election Day, the opposition outfit National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) took its campaign to Goromonzi North Constituency in Mashonaland East province this Thursday.

The party’s presidential candidate Professor Lovemore Madhuku addressed just over one hundred supporters saying his party will focus on coming up with a new constitution.

“Constitution of the basis of our problems. NCA is in politics to ensure that Zimbabwe has a constitution which speaks to the needs of the people. We are different from other political parties in that we are the only party that has realized that we have a bad constitution. All of you must go and tell others the beauty of NCA,” he said.

Prof Madhuku said if elected, NCA will offer free education and health services to the people of Zimbabwe.

“We are going to make sure that free education and health becomes reality when we form the government,” he said.

He also said he is at par with the other 10 candidates on the ballot.

“Of the eleven Presidential candidates, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has ruled this country and the other ten we are at the same level and no one is better than me. Let’s vote for Lovemore Madhuku and remember to talk to others to support the party,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s elections are set for the 23rd of this month, hence political parties are holding campaigns daily to woo voters as they articulate what they have to offer to the citizenry.

Car Thief Quickly Runs Out Of Luck

Former MP Thabitha Khumalo Duped by Good Samaritan Turned Thief

In a shocking incident, a man who had offered to help former Citizens Coalition For Change MP Thabitha Khumalo connect a battery to her car turned out to be a thief. The man, identified as Patrick Ncube, sped off with Khumalo’s vehicle before he was involved in a serious accident in Gweru.

According to a close source, Ncube assisted Khumalo in connecting the battery, but when given the opportunity, he took off in her car, leaving her helpless in trying to stop him. Khumalo attempted to contact Ncube afterward, but he did not answer her calls.

After two days, Khumalo managed to get through to Ncube’s phone, but it was answered by a woman who revealed that he had been in an accident and was admitted to Gweru General Hospital with serious injuries. The woman also disclosed that the car had been impounded by the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) in Gweru and required US$300 for repairs.

Subsequently, Khumalo reported the incident to Sauerstown Police Station, leading to Ncube’s arrest. Ncube claimed that Khumalo had asked him to help connect the battery and test-drive the car, leading to the unfortunate incident.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident, and investigations are ongoing. Efforts to obtain a comment from Thabitha Khumalo have been unsuccessful so far.

Double Candidate Criminal Slaps Chamisa With Denial

Accused Double Candidate Criminal, Gibson Hwende, Refuses to Back Down, Sparks Controversy

By- Gibson Hwende, the accused Double Candidate Criminal who turned independent after being dropped by his party during Chiredzi Central Constituency nominations, has sparked controversy by refusing to back down from using the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) symbols. The move has drawn the ire of CCC members and party leaders, who have reported the matter to higher authorities.

Chiredzi CCC cluster leader, Muchirairwa Mugidho, expressed her dismay at Hwende’s actions, stating, “Hwende wants to kill the CCC struggle, and we have taken the case to higher authorities.” The party leadership took the matter seriously, promising to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action.

However, Hwende staunchly defended his right to use the CCC party logo, even though he is running as an independent candidate. According to Hwende, he won the party’s nominations, securing nine out of 10 wards, while the officially imposed CCC candidate, Ropafadzo Makumire, only obtained six out of 10 wards. He believes that certain individuals with influence within the party imposed the candidate, leading him to run independently.

“I was selected by the citizens. I got overwhelming support from the majority of wards during the party’s nominations,” Hwende asserted, “certain individuals used their power to impose a candidate, but that doesn’t invalidate my legitimacy within the party.”

Political analysts have weighed in on the matter, criticizing Hwende’s decision to use the symbols of a political party he is not officially representing. They argue that it is misleading to the electorate, as many voters cast their ballots based on party affiliations and beliefs.

“For an independent candidate to use images and symbols of a political party they are not representing is tantamount to misleading the electorate,” remarked one political analyst. “Many voters vote for parties, and it is, therefore, like seeking or getting votes on false pretenses.”

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has been urged to resolve the complaint made by CCC promptly. The election commission’s intervention is crucial in ensuring the electoral process remains fair and transparent.

Despite the controversy and criticism, Hwende remains steadfast in his stance and has no intentions of stepping back. He insists that he has not left CCC and will continue to contest against CCC’s Makumire and Zanu PF’s Francis Moyo in the upcoming elections.

The situation has heightened tensions in the Chiredzi Central Constituency, with citizens and political stakeholders closely monitoring the developments. As the election date approaches, the controversy surrounding Hwende’s use of CCC symbols adds further complexity to an already intense political landscape.

6 Miners Perish in Water Burst Accident

Bubi District, Matabeleland North Province – A devastating incident at Lilian Mine has claimed the lives of six miners and left the region in shock. Eight other miners fortunately survived the sudden gush of water that inundated a tunnel they were working in, trapping them underground. The tragic accident occurred on Wednesday around midnight, leaving the community mourning the loss of hardworking individuals and highlighting the risks miners face daily.

The mine, owned by Mr. Siqeduthando Ncube, now stands as a grim reminder of the dangers lurking beneath the surface. Engineer Michael Munodawafa, the chief mining engineer from the Ministry of Mining and Mining Development, reported that there were 14 people in two working areas when the incident occurred. In one of the working areas, two people lost their lives when the water burst, carrying away the ore they were working on and impacting the other side.

The underground water burst breached the wall separating an older mining area from a new one, pushing ore and workers into the tunnel. In one area, four miners lost their lives, and three managed to escape. Tragically, five of the deceased hailed from Nkayi District, and one was from Kusile District.

Engineer Munodawafa expressed that this catastrophe could have been averted if the miners had been aware of the presence of the older mine. It emphasizes the importance of proper knowledge and precautions in preventing such painful losses.

As mourners gathered at Mr. Ncube’s homestead, he remained silent and declined to comment when approached by the media. The mine continued its operations, with Mr. Ncube being supported by his neighbors during this difficult time.

At the accident scene, a yellow compressor and various pipes indicated attempts to pump out water. The police confirmed the tragic incident on their Twitter account, stating that 14 miners were extracting gold ore when they accidentally hit an underground water source, leading to the flooding of the mine tunnels. Eight miners managed to escape, but the bodies of the deceased have been retrieved.

The Matabeleland North Provincial Spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda, named five of the deceased miners: Matthew Sibanda (30) of Sesamba Village in Nkayi, Bhekani Tshuma (25) from Sibombo in Lupane, Bruce Clive Tshuma (21) of Matsholozane Village in Nkayi, Mengezi Mpofu (23) of Mutshethe Village, Nkayi, and Ndabezinhle Bhebhe (27) of Sesemba, Nkayi.

The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community, and as investigations continue, authorities and mining companies are urged to take even more stringent measures to safeguard the lives of miners working tirelessly underground.

Madhuku Addresses Self In Goromonzi

In a passionate rally held in Goromonzi North Constituency, Mashonaland East province, NCA Presidential Candidate, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, made significant promises to the people of Zimbabwe just twenty days before the upcoming elections. Addressing a crowd of over one hundred enthusiastic supporters, Madhuku outlined his party’s core focus and agenda if elected to office.

Highlighting the paramount importance of a constitution aligned with the needs of the people, Professor Madhuku firmly asserted that the NCA would prioritize the creation of a new constitution. He passionately declared, “Constitution is the basis of our problems. NCA is in politics to ensure that Zimbabwe has a constitution which speaks to the needs of the people. We are different from other political parties in that we are the only party that has realized that we have a bad constitution. All of you must go and tell others the beauty of NCA.”

This dedication to constitutional reform sets the NCA apart from other political contenders and underscores their commitment to shaping a better future for Zimbabwe. Professor Madhuku’s assurance of a new constitution tailored to the people’s needs resonated deeply with the gathered supporters.

Further outlining his party’s vision for a more equitable society, Madhuku pledged to provide free education and health services to all Zimbabweans. “We are going to make sure that free education and health become a reality when we form the government,” he emphatically stated, eliciting enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

On the subject of his opponents, Professor Madhuku asserted that he stands on equal footing with the other ten candidates on the ballot. He noted that while Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has ruled the country, the remaining contenders have no advantage over him. Exuding confidence, he urged the electorate to vote for Lovemore Madhuku and encourage others to support the NCA.

Zimbabwe’s upcoming elections, scheduled for the 23rd of this month, have intensified the campaigning efforts of all political parties as they vie for voter support. The NCA’s rally in Goromonzi North Constituency showcased Professor Lovemore Madhuku’s practical approach to addressing the nation’s pressing issues, particularly the need for a new constitution and the provision of essential services to all citizens.

With the elections drawing near, citizens are closely observing the promises and pledges made by each candidate, seeking a leader who will champion their interests and bring about positive change for the country. As the campaigning intensifies, Zimbabwe remains on the edge of anticipation, waiting to cast their votes and determine the future path of the nation.

Zanu PF Thugs Stone Chamisa

By- Zanu PF thugs have attacked opposition Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa’s convoy with stones after he addressed a well-attended rally in Mutasa District, Manicaland Province.

“We had just finished addressing our supporters in Mutasa, as we were heading back and upon approaching the DC area we found the road barricaded by stones. They were throwing stones on our convoy. We had to make a u-turn. But we are safe,” Chamisa told NewsDay.
Contacted for comment, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said no report had been filed yet.
“On that case which you are referring to, as we speak police officers are on the ground, but no one has come forward to make an official report. We have not received any official report concerning the alleged violence.” Newsday

Police Raid S-x Party In DZ

By- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported the arrest of 19 students from Corridors of Hope College, as well as individuals from nearby schools, who were on the verge of commencing a party in Dzivarasekwa. A police report, indicates that law enforcement officers intervened just before the initiation of the event and seized numerous items, including alcohol, wine, condoms, and shisha. The report states:

The ZRP confirms that a raid has been conducted at a sex party at number 153 Nehanda Dzivarasekwa Extension where some students from Corridors of Hope College and others from neighbouring schools were about to start the party. 19 students and the caretaker of the house, Pride Nyamugafata (20), have been arrested. Several bottles of alcohol, wines, condoms, shisha and its flavour have been confiscated. More details to be availed soon.

Reports of Vuzu or orgy parties have been on the rise in Zimbabwe. Incidents involving the arrest of students for participating in these parties have also been on the rise. One notable case occurred in November 2022 when police arrested 39 students from different schools in Bulawayo during a raid on a Vuzu party in the Khumalo suburb. In October 2021, 16 individuals were also apprehended in the Kuwadzana suburb of Harare on charges of public nuisance following a sex party. Vuzu parties are secret indoor gatherings, predominantly organised by teenagers, where alcohol consumption, drug use, and sexual orgies are prevalent.

Ten Arrested For Murdering Chamisa Supporter

By-Polive said they had arrested ten Zanu PF thugs for the murder of Tinashe Edson Chitsunge, a supporter of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

Chitsunge was tragically stoned to death by suspected ZANU PF supporters in Glen Norah, Harare, on Thursday. In an update the ZRP has confirmed that the suspects are currently under investigation and cooperating with the police. Reads the police update

Reference is made to the Glennorah violence which occurred on 03/08/23 resulting in the death of Tinashe Edson Chitsunge. ZRP confirms that 10 suspects have now been arrested and are assisting the Police with investigations.

Former Information Minister, Jonathan Moyo, praised the swift action taken by the police in response to the update. He commended the authorities for their efforts to bring the criminals responsible for Chitsunge’s murder to justice. He posted on Twitter:

This swift action is commendable @PoliceZimbabwe, the book should be thrown at the cowardly criminals who murdered Tinashe Chitsunge in such deplorable circumstances, to send a tough message to other similarly-minded criminal thugs out there that there is no place for them to hide!

Violence during elections has been an ongoing concern in Zimbabwe. Prior to the by-elections on 26th March 2022, 35-year-old Mbongeni Ncube, a member of the CCC, was fatally stabbed at a rally in Kwekwe. Suspected activists of the ruling ZANU PF party were arrested in connection with the incident. However, the latest information indicates that 11 out of the 16 suspects were granted bail, and no further updates have been provided. Ncube’s family, at some point went into hiding after reports that a key witness was being harassed.

Critics of the government argue that such acts of violence are employed as a means to intimidate voters into supporting candidates aligned with the ruling party. This manipulation of violence is seen as an attempt to influence the electorate and undermine the democratic process.

“Zimbabwe: Repression, Violence Loom over August Election”: HRW

  • Zimbabwe authorities have failed to take necessary steps to ensure that the general election slated for August 23 meets international standards for free and fair elections.
  • Use of repressive laws, partisan conduct by government agencies and election officials, and the opposition’s lack of access to many areas and to the voters roll create a flawed election process.
  • The African Union and SADC should press the government to take concrete measures to give election observers full access and allow people to vote free of intimidation.

(Johannesburg, August 3, 2023) – Zimbabwe authorities have failed to take necessary steps to ensure that the general election slated for August 23, 2023, meets international standards for free and fair elections, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today.

The 44-page report, “‘Crush Them Like Lice’: Repression of Civil and Political Rights Ahead of Zimbabwe’s August 2023 Election,” finds that the seriously flawed electoral process threatens the fundamental rights of Zimbabweans to freely choose their representatives. The electoral process has been undermined by the authorities’ adoption and use of repressive laws, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s (ZEC) lack of impartiality, the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s partisan conduct and use of intimidation and violence against the opposition, the opposition’s lack of access to voter rolls, and impunity for individuals responsible for election-related abuses.

“Zimbabwe’s authorities have yet again demonstrated a lack of respect for the basic freedoms necessary for a credible, free, and fair election,” said Idriss Ali Nassah, senior Africa researcher at Human Rights Watch and lead author of the report. “The inability of many candidates to campaign freely and openly throughout Zimbabwe raises serious concerns about whether the election results will reflect the political will of Zimbabwe’s people.”

Human Rights Watch interviewed 28 people in April and May, including activists, journalists, opposition members, and victims of human rights abuses. Letters with questions sent to several government agencies and the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union–Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) party received no response.

The pre-election environment in Zimbabwe poses many obstacles for the political opposition, Human Rights Watch said. The authorities have weaponized the criminal justice system against the ruling party’s opponents. Civil society activists and government critics expressed strong fears that the authorities intended to use the Private Voluntary Organizations Act and other laws to criminalize their activities ahead of the election.

The Criminal Law Codification and Reform Amendment Bill 2022, commonly known as the “Patriotic Bill,” which took effect in July, contains overly broad provisions that criminalize the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association.

Politicians from the main opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change, have been held in prolonged pre-trial detention or convicted on baseless, seemingly politically motivated charges. The party’s deputy spokesperson, Ostallos Siziba, said: “Right now, we cannot hold meetings in towns and cities, and we cannot go to the rural areas. ZANU-PF declared that rural areas are no-go zones for the opposition, and the ruling party causes violence any time the opposition tries to venture into the rural areas.”

The Zimbabwe police has selectively used the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act of 2019 to deny the opposition permission to hold meetings and campaign rallies, while allowing ZANU-PF to meet without hindrance.

ZANU-PF supporters have engaged in widespread harassment, threats, and acts of violence, preventing opposition parties from staging rallies, mobilizing, campaigning, and associating with supporters across the country.

There are also serious concerns about the independence, composition, and conduct of the ZEC. “The way the commission is constituted is a problem,” said a member of Heal Zimbabwe Trust, a national rights group. “Previously, the main political parties would second people to become commissioners, but the commissioners are now mostly chosen by the president after vetting by parliament. People lost confidence in the process because they think that the process is controlled by the state.”

Zimbabwe authorities should take all steps necessary to ensure that Zimbabwe police acts in a neutral and non-partisan fashion regarding the electoral campaign and all political parties’ activities, Human Rights Watch said. They should also ensure that police and other officials found responsible for human rights violations are held to account.

In April, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that only election monitors from “friendly nations” will be invited to observe the elections. Since then, the European Union and a joint AU-Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa mission have been granted permission to monitor the elections. Because observers might not be allowed access to all parts of the country, there are concerns that election-related abuses and illegal practices will go unaddressed.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and African Union (AU) member states should press the government of Zimbabwe to ensure that national and international electoral observers will have access to all election sites, Human Rights Watch said. The government should guarantee that observers will be free to move throughout the country and able to report on any election-related intimidation and violence.

They should also urge the government to implement the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections and the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance, and ensure that SADC and AU election observers remain in Zimbabwe for a sufficient period beyond the vote count to monitor possible post-election related human rights violations.

“The Zimbabwe government needs to take concrete measures before the election to meet its obligations under national and international law to allow people to vote free of intimidation, fear, and violence,” Nassah said. “So far nothing indicates the authorities are willing to do that.”

ED Wants Sanctions To Stay

President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said sanctions should stay as they have prompted government to “think outside the box” and innovate.

Mnangagwa made the remarks at Hwange Stadium during the commissioning of Hwange Thermal Power Station’s Units 7 and 8.

“We have had sanctions for the last 23 years now,” he said.

“We have resources that keep us alive despite the sanctions. In fact, I for one would say let the sanctions stay because they make us think outside the box and become innovative.”

Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Guo Shaochun said his country would continue to support government towards the attainment of vision 2030.

Units 7 and 8 are set to feed 600 megawatts (MW) into the national grid.

Government is expanding the 920MW Hwange Thermal Power Station by adding the two units at a cost of US$1,4 billion, with 85% of the funding coming from China.

Unit 7 started feeding into the national grid in March.

Zimbabwe’s power challenges have been blamed on poor investment in the sector, with government encouraging the adoption of solar energy and removing duty on related material for domestic use.

Mnangagwa also spoke against political violence ahead of the August 23 elections.

“We are a peaceful nation,” he said.

Zanu PF Manicaland Executive Member Orchestrated Violence Against CCC Supporters in Honde Valley

By Peterson Matarutse| A Zanu PF Manicaland executive member and war veteran popularly known as Cde Tins Samanga is alleged to have planned the orgy of violence that rocked Honde Valley after CCC held its rally at Hauna Growth Point.

The controversial war veteran known for his penchant of violence is said to have gathered Zanu PF youths around Gatsi village close to Hauna where the CCC held its rally. He is said to have instructed the youths to bar and threaten their peers not to attend the rally.

“As early as 9 in the morning, Tins was rounding Zanu PF youths in Gatsi to intimidate anyone who wanted to attend the CCC rally.

” The youths were being given Super (alcohol) which he was carrying in his Zanu PF branded vehicle, “revealed a source who requested anonymity.

However, there was outright defiance as thousands of youths walked on foot, braved a chilly weather and endured long hours waiting for CCC leader Nelson Chamisa to address them.

Before the arrival of Chamisa, some Zanu PF thugs including former ruling party councillor Tsarukanai Chinanho were moving around Hauna Growth Point pasting their campaign posters on CCC posters.

“The Zanu PF guys were provoking people by going around pasting their posters on CCC rally posters. Some vendors were heard saying because of such antics by the ruling party they were going to give a sympathy vote to the opposition,” said one on-looker who witnessed the incident.

In a turn of events, the above mentioned Zanu PF thugs are said to have followed the address by Chamisa from a distance before joining the crowd where some of them openly admitted that Chamisa was charismatic.

It is believed that after learning of the eccentric crowd at CCC rally, Cde Tins hurriedly organised another batch of Zanu PF youth hoodlums from his area, Dumba, where they then waylaid the convoy of CCC President Nelson Chamisa.

“Tins was dismayed by the defiance of youths from Gatsi who despite the threats made their way to the venue. He then opted to go to his home area in Dumba village where he gathered a few Zanu PF youths including his nephews.

” They then blocked the road from Gwiriri up to the Nyanga-Mutare highway smashing windows of the vehicles ferrying CCC members but had it not been the instruction from President Nelson Chamisa we were itching for a fight.

” We would have outnumbered them and we were ready to defend ourselves. We wish some of our members who got injured a speedy recovery,” said a CCC supporter who requested anonymity for fear of victimisation.

The war veteran and Zanu PF Manicaland executive member Cde Tins is notorious for perpetrating violence. Having a disfigured mouth from war injury , he brags that the scar shows ‘resistance’ to imperialists and regime change agenda.

Samanga could not be reached for a comment.

Senior Cop Threatened By Deputy Minister “Missing”

By A Correspondent- A senior police officer, Assistant Inspector Chester Last Matsa, who received threatening remarks from Deputy Tourism Minister Barbra Rwodzi after arresting a ZANU PF member, has reportedly gone missing.

The police radio issued from Shurugwi Police Station announced Matsa’s absence and requested his arrest if located. Matsa had been transferred to Shurugwi from Charandura Police Station after a leaked recording of his conversation with Rwodzi went viral. In the audio, Rwodzi verbally abused Matsa and threatened him for arresting Fidelis Danger, a member of her party who was taking down opposition party campaign posters. Rwodzi was recorded saying:

I will finish this with you in front of (Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Godwin Thandabantu) Matanga. You’re an idiot… You think CCC will win? You’re a dog! You’re a dog! Go and file a complaint wherever you want, you’re a dog. Stupid!

Matsa filed a police complaint against Rwodzi in Gweru on July 17, 2023, but no update was provided after police issued a statement saying the matter was under investigation. In his complaint which named Rwodzi as the accused person, Matsa said:

The accused person threatened the complainant with harm over the phone.

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Monitors Platform expressed concern over the incident, stating that it was a dangerous sign of a slide towards authoritarianism to intimidate and harass law enforcement officials for political gain

Mnangagwa Declares Victory Before Polls

The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed party members in Bulawayo on Wednesday.

Speaking at a star rally in the city of Kings, Mnangagwa claimed victory before polls.

Snippets from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ZANU PF Bulawayo Star Rally Address:

I am very happy to be in The City of Kings and Queens. Thank you Bulawayo Omuhle for coming out in your numbers to support the party. Your presence is proof of your determination to protect our vote, freedom, peace and unity…

I thank you all Bulawayo Province, Well done.

I commend you for the great peace even upon provocation from pseudo-political parties.

Zimbabwe is a unitary state, we are a very peaceful and humble people, we are one PEOPLE.

ZANU PF IS people’s is a party for and by the people. We brought democracy from the protracted liberation struggle.

This month, we are going to be remembering our heroes and heroines who laud their lives for our independence. We honour all of them.

On the 23rd of August, we want to vote for ZANU PF to ensure a resounding victory, ZANU PF won yesterday, it will win tomorrow.

ZANU PF is unstoppable.

The opposition has failed across the country, and all the local authorities they control are a shame… Shame, shame, shame on you the opposition!

ZANU PF delivers, it is about action yet all the opposition does is talk with no tangible results.

Under our party, we are on the road to delivering a higher quality of life, we are a people’s party, and sustainable development is seen everywhere.

ZANU PF is uncontested in some parts of Bulawayo, not because it stopped anybody, but because they stopped themselves.

Victory is certain, victory is on the horizon, the sun is coming up and it will only shine for ZANU PF.

I want to remind the opposition that the State House is very far. They’d rather walk to America on foot than dream of ever reaching the State House.

In the last three years, Zimbabwe has been the fastest-growing economy in SADC.

We are building our country on the basis of our own domestic resources.

Under the Second Republic, we have plans to revitalise Bulawayo into an industrial hub.

The first port of call is water provision.

Nyamandlovu Aqua Farm was my first step, followed by the Gwayi-Shangani Dam. Once all these are complete, water woes will be history

The second is energy, hence we built Hwange 7 and 8 with help from China.

Each one of us, as long as we are Zimbabwean, should engage in production.

There are three principles you should teach your children; Nyika inovakwa, igonamatirwa, igotongwa nevene vayo.

I am upgrading Beitbridge Border Post. Joshua Nkomo Airport has more airlines coming into Bulawayo because of the Second Republic and work has begun to upgrade the Beitbridge- Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway.

I don’t want bullying in schools, our children must respect each other and be patriotic that we leave the country in safe hands.

I am aware that some of our families have been staying in houses for about 30 years with no title deeds, but under The Second Republic, we will ensure that they all have title deeds.

This is the philosophy of ZANU PF that no one and no place will be left behind.

Under the Second Republic, international sport is coming to Zimbabwe.

We are also refurbishing Babourfields Stadium, the home of Highlanders who are doing very well with 17 games unbeaten. Congratulations Highlanders!!!!!!!

Young people must reject and refuse the use of drugs, no nation can develop under the use of drugs.

We, your leaders want to leave Zimbabwe better than we found it, but we don’t want to leave it to a drunk generation.

Zimbabwe is a friend to all and an enemy to none, but there is nothing we can do about those who choose to hate us.

We have invited foreign observers to come for our elections, but those countries who have already taken a position on the elections are not welcome.

We are inviting those who are not biased, we have upheld constitutionalism by holding elections every 5 years.

Once again I want to express my gratitude, as I conclude, to you Bulayo omuhle for coming, we shall remain one people, united and working towards one goal.

We are solid, we know where we want to go and forward we go.

23 August, the People’s victory is achievable under ZANU PF.

Now I say to you, we want peace, shun violence, and guard against detractors who may lead you astray.

I THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Supreme Court Dismisses Hopewell Chin’ono’s Fake News Against CCC, Byo 12

Supreme Court Clears 12 Citizens Coalition for Change Candidates to Contest General Election**

By Farai D Hove | In a significant turn of events, the Supreme Court has granted an appeal filed by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), allowing 12 of its parliamentary candidates to contest in the upcoming general election. The three-panel bench overturned the High Court’s previous verdict, which had alleged that the candidates had submitted their nomination papers after the stipulated deadline.

The CCC 12

The Respondents were ZANU PF members who were socially backed by filmmaker Hopewell Chinono who claimed the candidates had been sabotaged by their leader, Nelson Chamisa. (pic)

The decision came after an intense legal battle that captured the nation’s attention. The CCC, through its legal team, vehemently contested the High Court’s ruling, maintaining that they had submitted their nomination papers well within the designated timeframe. They cited procedural issues and discrepancies in the submission process that had led to the misunderstanding.

The three-panel bench of the Supreme Court carefully reviewed the evidence presented by both parties and deliberated on the matter extensively. After careful consideration, they ruled in favor of the CCC, validating the timely submission of the nomination papers by the 12 candidates.

The Supreme Court’s decision brings relief to the CCC and its candidates, who were facing the possibility of being disqualified from the electoral race. With the cloud of uncertainty lifted, the 12 cleared candidates can now focus on their campaign efforts and articulate their vision for the nation’s future.

This landmark ruling highlights the crucial role of the judiciary in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. It serves as a reminder that every citizen’s right to participate in the democratic process must be upheld and protected.

As the general election approaches, the CCC and its candidates are expected to intensify their efforts to connect with voters and garner support for their platform. The electorate now holds the power to decide the fate of these candidates at the polls.

This breaking news will undoubtedly have significant implications for the political landscape, and citizens across the country will closely monitor how this development shapes the upcoming election. Stay tuned as we provide further updates on the unfolding political scenario.

Warriors Hopeful Joins Reading

Reading are reportedly keen to sign Tivonge Rushesha after the youngster impressed during trials over the past week.

Rushesha has been raining with English League One club following his departure at Swansea after the end of his contract.

The Zimbabwe-born youngster plays as a midfielder and has also been used as defender.

According to Reading Chronicle, both parties being keen on a move, the club are unable to register any more players for the EFL until the HMRC issue is resolved.

Coach Ruben Selles admitted they are pursuing the player.

“Absolutely. Tivonge has done a great job since he came in pre-season so we are just looking to formally add him to the squad,” he said.

“I think he is still a player who should be between our squad and Under-23 side but I think he has a lot of football in his legs. I know he has a brain to understand situations so I think he can be a really good player for Reading. One thing at a time.

“When we register him he can play for us. Maybe at the beginning of the season he will have more chances for a club like us because we lack some players, but we have a player there who could be important to us.”

Rushesha has represented Wales at international youth level and is still eligible to play for Zimbabwe.-Soccer24 News

Mwaruwari Son Finds Club In England

Benjani Mwaruwari Jr has joined a new club in England.

Mwaruwari, who is the son of Warriors legend Benjani, has left English sixth-tier side Yeovil Town to join seventh division club Dorchester Town on a season-long loan deal.

He has moved to the new club along with Yeovil teammate Ollie Haste .

“Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce the double loan signing of Ollie Haste and Benjani Jr from Yeovil Town (subject to FA approval),” the seventh tier club announced on their website.

“The duo arrive at The Avenue on season-long deals, and having both featured against The Magpies for their parent club in our pre-season fixture against Yeovil Town, both Haste and Benjani Jr impressed in our friendlies against Wimborne Town and Eastleigh starting as trialists wearing numbers #11 and #10 respectively.”

The 18-year-old Benjani Jr has wasted no time in making an impression at Dorchester Town as he scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday night against Eastleigh.

Dorchester coach Glenn Howes said about the young striker: “Benjani is little bit different to what we have and he offered us a huge spark out there. He’s got that little bit of magic, little bit of creativity in the final third dropping off into spaces, and he’s tenacious for an 18-year-old – he’s not just got ability, his work ethic is really impressive as well.

“He’s going to need a bit of patience as it’s his first full season at this level, but he’s had a really good pre-season with Yeovil and starting to turn heads.”-Soccer24 News

I Am Poised For Victory – Chikohora

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe Coalition for Peace and Development (ZCPD) leader Trust Chikohora says he has the charisma to move the country forward.

Chikohora is one of 2023 Presidential Election candidates.

According to Chikohora, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is now an old man who cannot cope with the dynamics of the modern day politics.

“Indeed age is a factor, we are saying the current President has played his part and he has to allow a young and energetic leader like myself to take this country to another level of prosperity.

Let us be balanced, we can’t just denounce everything, President Mnangagwa is a security expert but in terms of the economy something is amiss.

As you know, I have a strong financial background and therefore can revive the waning economy, “said Chikohora.

Below is Chikohora’s interview with Heart and Soul TV…

Mavaza Says: CCC Humiliated After Saying Judiciary Is Captured

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The recent decision by the Supreme Court to grant clearance to the 12 Bulawayo CCC parliamentary contenders is a clear indication of the robustness and independence of Zimbabwe’s judiciary. Contrary to the CCC’s claims that the judiciary is captured, this decision shows that the courts are impartial and capable of making fair rulings.

Masimba Mavaza

It is essential to highlight the principle of the rule of law, which implies that no individual or organization is above the law, and the government itself is subject to the law. In the context of Zimbabwe, the government has consistently complied with legal requirements in all jurisdictions, and it has adequately enforced laws and regulations. Zimbabwe has always respected the rule of law, and the judiciary’s recent decision is a reaffirmation of this fact.

Dr Mavaza with Cde Nyathi

However, it is disheartening to witness the selective acceptance of the judiciary’s decisions by the CCC. When a ruling goes in their favor, they celebrate it, but when it does not align with their interests, they are quick to impugn the judiciary’s partiality. This behavior undermines the credibility of their claims and raises questions about their commitment to democratic values.

Moreover, it is crucial for all political parties, including the CCC, to focus on the issues, policies, and democratic aspirations of the people rather than allowing disputes over candidate eligibility to overshadow the electoral discourse. Engaging in Strategic Ambiguity, as seen in the case of the 12 Bulawayo CCC contenders, only begets confusion and undermines the democratic process.

Furthermore, it is essential for political leaders and their followers to cultivate maturity and respect court verdicts, irrespective of their own preferences. Upholding the rule of law means accepting the decisions of the judiciary, even if they go against one’s interests. Zimbabwe’s judiciary has made decisions in the past that favored the opposition, demonstrating its independence and impartiality.

In light of the recent Supreme Court decision, it is high time for the CCC to acknowledge the integrity of the judiciary and refrain from making baseless claims saying it’s captured. The judiciary’s independence is crucial for a functioning democracy, and all political parties must support and uphold its autonomy. Demonizing the judiciary when rulings do not go in their favor only serves to undermine public trust in the legal system.

In conclusion, the recent Supreme Court decision in favor of the 12 Bulawayo CCC contenders is a testament to the robustness and independence of Zimbabwe’s judiciary. The CCC should learn from this and respect the rule of law by accepting court verdicts without selective acceptance. Zimbabwe’s commitment to the rule of law is evident, and it is essential for all political parties to uphold and respect the independence of the judiciary for the sake of a healthy and vibrant democracy.

Zanu PF Unstoppable – Mnangagwa

Bulawayo Chamisa MPs Back On The Ballot

By-The Supreme Court has granted the appeal of 12 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) parliamentary candidates, clearing them to contest in the upcoming general election scheduled for August 23.

The party announced in a Twitter post that ZANU PF triggered the case. Read the post:

Our 12 Bulawayo MPs are back on the ballot box. This was a desperate attempt by Zanu PF to smuggle their unelectable members into parliament. Bulawayo is an integral part of the election process and cannot be ignored.

The candidates were disqualified for submitting their nomination papers to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) through a third party, a police officer, in violation of the Electoral Act. In his ruling, Justice Bongani Ndlovu had declared that the separation of the papers from the CCC candidates through the medium of the police officer to be unlawful. He further noted that the Electoral Act requires the candidate or their agent to be present in court and ready to submit their papers at 4 pm, rather than just the papers being present.

CCC candidates had given their nomination papers to the police officer following the instruction of the ZEC nomination officer for Bulawayo, Mr I. Ncube. ZEC officials have claimed that Ncube instructed the police officer to collect the papers shortly before 4 pm, as the courtroom was about to close and was too small to accommodate all candidates who were queueing to submit their papers. The Supreme Court’s decision clears the way for the CCC candidates to participate in the election.

The ruling may have an implication on the case of Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Raj Modi, a ZANU PF member, in which a voter applied to have him disqualified.

Mnangagwa Hints On Coup Against Chamisa If CCC Wins 23 August Elections

By- Zanu PF Presidential candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa said he won not step down if he loses the 23 August elections.

In his own words, Mnangagwa said the Zimbabwean “state house is very far,” emphasizing that it won’t be easy for the opposition to attain power.

He made the remarks during a Zanu PF rally at Mkhithika Thebe Primary School in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, where he was rallying supporters to vote for the party and Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, who is vying for the Cowdray Park National Assembly seat.

Taking to the podium, Mnangagwa outlined his government’s achievements since taking over from Robert Mugabe. He also highlighted his administration’s plans to develop Bulawayo, including ensuring access to water through the Nyamandlovu Aquifer and the Gwayi-Shangani Dam, which is reportedly 70% complete. He said:

Under the second republic, we have plans to develop Bulawayo. Firstly, we want to make sure there is water.

My first step was the Nyamandlovu Aquifer, my second step is building the Gwayi-Shangani Dam, once that is completed, you will say ‘bye bye’ to water challenges.

The state house is very far. If they [the opposition] go to America, it will be much easier.

Benjani Mwaruwari Finds New Club

Reading Eager To Sign Zim Youngster

More About Sexual Misconduct

Supreme Court Reinstates 12 CCC Candidates Barred By The High Court

By A Correspondent| In a recent development, the Supreme Court has overturned the decision of the Bulawayo High Court to bar 12 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidates and four others from participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections on August 23.

A three-panel bench, presided by Justice Tendai Uchena, unanimously reached the decision to allow the CCC candidates to contest in the elections.

Justice Uchena stated, “This is a unanimous decision of the court. After carefully considering SEB 59/23, appeals be and are hereby allowed with costs. Judgment of the court a quo be set aside. The (High Court) applications are hereby dismissed with costs. Reasons to follow.”

The Bulawayo High Court had previously disqualified the 12 CCC candidates, claiming that they submitted their nomination papers after the 4 PM deadline on June 21. However, the candidates have vehemently denied this accusation.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube, along with 11 other Zanu PF candidates, who were initially set to win their seats uncontested, will now have to participate in the August 23 polls.

The bench, comprised of Justices Uchena, Alfas Chitakunye, and Hlekani Mwayera, has stated that the detailed reasons behind their judgment will be provided in due course.

Three Pillars Of Mining

practical lessons to mining

Let’s miner F owes EMA 3000usd for bills and tickets ; 1500usd ministry of mines tickets; 2000usd stamp mill and 4500usd for car loan and family expenses to make 11 000usd yet you want to invest 25 000usd in his mine you just raise 14 000usd buy his 11 000usd debt ask for payment from ministry of mines and EMA then ask to pay half for stampmill debt or complete erasure then negotiate for transfer of registration first things first then you are in the game .Debt purchase is easier route into a full operational mine .
