Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – A corruption scandal has been unearthed at the Bulawayo Traffic West Police Station, implicating numerous officers from the highest ranks down to the junior staff. According to an alarming letter addressed to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and other top officials, including Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Police Services Godwin Matanga, extensive bribery and corrupt practices have been taking place.
The letter outlines a systematic corruption network where officers, starting from the Officer in Charge and his lieutenants, receive daily bribes amounting to R2,500 from various traffic enforcement teams. These teams, each led by an Assistant Inspector, are accused of collecting bribes from desperate motorists, especially minibus taxi drivers, at numerous points around Bulawayo.
Key locations mentioned include Luveve Road Flyover, Khami Road Flyover, Sizane Turn-off near White City Stadium, Entumbane Robots opposite Entumbane Complex, Premier Private Secondary School, and Nyamandlovu Turn-off. The modus operandi involves senior touts collecting R50 from each minibus taxi and writing down their registration numbers. This list is then given to the police officers who use it to screen and arrest non-compliant drivers.
The bribery operations reportedly peak during weekends, with collections made on Saturdays and checkpoints manned on Sundays when anti-corruption oversight is minimal. Motorists who refuse to pay bribes face vehicle impoundment and hefty fines ranging from USD$100 to USD$150, depending on their capacity to pay.
A disturbing aspect of the scandal is the involvement of officers in civilian attire who are not listed in the deployment books, specifically tasked with collecting bribe money. The letter claims that these officers share the collected bribes equally, while ensuring that R500 is reserved for their superiors.
The accusations extend to the lavish lifestyles of the implicated officers, who allegedly own luxury vehicles such as Toyota Hilux, BMW, Mazda CX-5, Toyota Aqua, and Honda Fit Hybrid, funded through their corrupt activities. They are also said to own multiple properties and send their children to expensive schools, despite the Zimbabwe Police Service’s clear stance against officers engaging in illegal transport businesses.
The letter calls for an immediate lifestyle audit of the implicated officers and suggests that their prolonged tenure at the station has contributed to the entrenched corruption. It urges President Mnangagwa to take decisive action by firing all officers stationed at Bulawayo Traffic West to prevent the further spread of corrupt practices.
This revelation highlights the ongoing challenges in combating corruption within Zimbabwe’s law enforcement agencies and calls for swift and transparent investigations to restore public trust.

By A Correspondent| Forty-eight children at Madzibaba Ishmael Chokurengerwa’s farm had no birth certificates and he allegedly hindered authorities to conduct full investigations, a witness told the court this morning.
Chokurongerwa (54) and his seven congregants, Takavengwa Gwenzi (55), Siribiniyo Chikunhire (53), Wonder Kabaya (41), Devlodge Katsande (48), Zebedia Sigudu (49), Aaron Chokurongerwa (47) and Shingirai Ngavafume (42), all from Lilly Farm in Nyabira are facing three counts of ill-treating children, conducting a burial without a burial order and failing to give notice of the birth and death of a person.
The State this morning also led evidence from the village head Nzwanai Musonza who expressed shock, hearing that Chokurongerwa and team conducted burials without notifying authorities.
He said he would be called to the funerals and assumed they were all legal.
District public prosecutor, Tafara Chirambira and prosecutor Ms Sheila Mupindu also led evidence from an officer from the births and deaths registration department Mr Farai Gatusa who went to Lily farm.
He told the court that when they visited the farm they were hindered in conducting their duties by Madzibaba Ishmael.
He said he observed graves shown to them by the Chokurongerwa and that about 48 children did not have birth certificates.
He was made to comment on birth certificates produced by the defence lawyers stating that they had been obtained in June which is different from what they saw initially. He said they went to the farm in March.
He questioned their authenticity saying they were all obtained on the same day, in June, way after the trial had started, perhaps to counter the offence.
The suspects, represented by Musindo Hungwe have denied the allegations saying they did not have a guardian obligation on the minors, hence it was not their duty to take care of them.
They highlighted that none of the alleged victims nor their parents have lodged a complaint with the police, hence the State should not be crying more than the bereaved.
They further stated that they did not conduct any burial of any person without notifying authorities. They also submitted that they were not the only adults at Lily Farm.
By Sports Reporter- The government has announced its intention to close betting shops proliferating in major towns and cities across the country.
The rapid increase in betting and gaming shops is largely attributed to the rising unemployment rate.
Many youths are now spending their time in these establishments, relying on betting as a source of income.
Civil servants, too, have turned to bets to supplement their meagre salaries.
This week, Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe issued a statement declaring that all unlicensed betting shops would be shut down.
Minister Kazembe’s statement reads:
“It has come to the notice and attention of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage that certain individuals and entities are establishing gaming operations and setting up gaming shops and/or casinos without the approval of the Lotteries and Gaming Board of Zimbabwe, as required by law.
“Section 31 of the Lotteries and Gaming Act, Chapter 10:26, prohibits such conduct. Setting up betting shops or casinos without the requisite approvals and conducting unsanctioned gaming operations is illegal.
“It also poses a serious risk to public safety as the unsuspecting people of Zimbabwe are the targets and victims of this flagrant violation of the law.
“The Ministry has also noted that some unscrupulous operators have built or equipped casinos without the enabling documents from the Lotteries and Gaming Board.
“The Government will not tolerate any unlawful gaming activities within the borders of the country. Any persons or organizations found wanting in this regard will face the full wrath of the law.
“The public is urged to report such operations to the Lotteries and Gaming Board or the nearest police station.
“The Ministry acknowledges the tremendous efforts being made by the Lotteries and Gaming Board in regulating the gaming industry. Working with key enforcement agents in the country, the Board will take the most robust enforcement actions against any and all illegal gaming operations.
“This will result in the immediate shutdown of any unlicensed casinos, gaming shops, or other betting facilities, as well as the prosecution of those responsible.
“The government of Zimbabwe is committed to maintaining order, upholding the law, and protecting the national interest.”
By A Correspondent| Tourism minister Barbara Rwodzi has cleared First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa of allegations of cashing in on the national fabric when it was still selling for US$9 and US$12 per meter.
The National fabric is now being sold for $4 per meter.
Rwodzi said Auxillia did not cash in on the highly politicized fabric.
“We take exception to false and malicious claims by some media outlets that the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa is cashing in on the national fabric. Such claims are not only unfortunate, but appear calculated to soil the good image of our hard working mother of the nation who is our patron,” said Rwodzi.
Former Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala has been spotted in Malawi where he is attending the burial of the late Vice President Saulo Chilima who died in a plane crash last week.
Posting on X, Sikhala described Chilima as a democrat.
“Joined other democrats from the region on the burial of the Malawi Vice President and UTM President Soulos Chilima at his village in Ntcheu. He belonged to the regional grouping of democrats. Thank you very much for the hospitality and care you gave to me on my entire period of the funeral. May His Dear Soul Rest in Eternal Peace,” said Sikhala.
By A Correspondent | Former Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) chairman Michael Ndoro is up in arms with the national water body after it entered into agreement with a Chinese company to use water from his farm.
Ndoro who is also a former treasurer at Upper Manyame Sub Catchment Council has a private dam at his Utopia Farm in Melfort.
Ndoro alleges that there is an illegal extraction of water from his privately owned dam with the full approval of Zinwa.
Ndoro reported the matter through a letter seen by ZimEye to the Zinwa acting chief executive Taurai Maurukira dated May 13 2024.
“I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of grave concern regarding the illegal extraction of water from a private weir by a Chinese entity, this weir was built by National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) on a servitude land provided by Utopia Farm (ourselves] – the current permitted water users from the weir are NRZ and Utopia Farm as per the water permit issued by Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council. As a responsible citizen and a stakeholder in water resource management, I feel compelled to report this egregious violation of water regulations and seek swift action from your esteemed authority.
” It has come to my attention that a pump house has been installed at the Utopia Farm Weir located in Melfort on an water agreement apparently signed with ZINWA as opposed to Upper Manyame Sub- Catchment Council who are the responsible authority in such matters,” he wrote.
“This unauthorized extraction of water not only undermines the integrity of our water resource management system but also poses a significant threat and insecurity to the ecosystem and the surrounding community’s access to water-for both their livelihood and livestock.”
He added: “As custodians of Zimbabwe’s water resources, it is imperative that the Zimbabwe National Water Authority takes immediate action to investigate and address this unlawful activity and take appropriate enforcement measures to halt the illegal extraction of water from the private weir.”
“Furthermore, I implore your authority to implement stringent measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.”
Zinwa spokesperson Marjory Munyonga said there was no private water in the country.
“The Zimbabwe National Water Authority, in the execution of its work, is guided by the provisions of the law, in particular the Water Act (Chapter 20:24) and the ZINWA Act (Chapter 20:25). In accordance with Section 4 of the Water Act, there is no private ownership of water in Zimbabwe while Section 3 of the same Act vests all water in the President,” she said.
“Following the land reform programme, the law further vested the management of dams at ‘acquired farms’ to Zinwa. Zinwa is therefore mandated to ensure the sustainable and equitable access and utilisation of water from the dams to aid socio-economic development.”
However, Ndoro is in possession of a water permit from Zinwa as one of the two sole users of the private dam.
“We would like to confirm that you S.M. Ndoro of Interfruit PL t/a Interfoods Manufacturing of Utopia Farm has been registered with us as water permit holder. Your water requirements can be met from the available dam permit number 15052,” reads the letter from Zinwa dated 2 October 2006.
“This letter serves to authenticate you as a legal water user and you have fullfiled the Water Act of 1998 Chapter 20:24.”
Ndoro said there was nowhere in the Water Act where the water body has got authority to give water agreements to private companies to extract water on dams constructed on the farms.
“It’s unfortunate when an Authority fails to impartially regulate and monitor the Act it is supposed to administer for the general good of all. This matter now requires intervention at the highest level.”
By A Correspondent| A Zimbabwean national was yesterday arrested for using a dead person’s identity documents to get accreditation to attend president-elect Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration.
Accreditation applications for the event started on Monday.
According to the spokesperson for the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NatJOINTS), Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the Zimbabwean national approached the accreditation centre on Monday in an attempt to attend the event on Wednesday.
“Our integrated systems immediately detected that this individual was using an identity document of a deceased person,” said Mathe.
The suspect has been charged with fraud and contravention of the immigration act and is in police custody.
However, the identity documents he used for the application were fraudulent, said Mathe.
“Our integrated NatJOINTS plan is designed to focus on venue security, route, transport, traffic control, sea, land, airport, border, accommodation security as well as crowd management capabilities,” said Mathe.
“This plan involving various government departments led by the SAPS, South African National Defence Force and the State Security Agency is currently being implemented in all corners of the Gauteng province where the Presidential Inauguration is taking place.”
The NatJOINTS have heightened police visibility in and around the Union Buildings.
According to Mathe, traffic officials from the Tshwane, Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg Metro Police Departments have been deployed at all key points to direct traffic and execute road safety measures. The SAPS has also deployed its crime prevention officers and POP units to police the large crowds that are expected to attend the celebration.
“We are patrolling, conducting stop and searches and roadblocks to ensure we tighten security and deal with any criminality,” said Mathe. People wishing to attend the Presidential Inauguration will be able to park their vehicles at the Tshwane Showgrounds. They will then ride a free bus to the Union Buildings.
There will be no private vehicle access to the Union Buildings. The park and ride shuttles will commence from 3am to 06:30 am on Wednesday morning.
The public walking in will have access to the Union Buildings South Lawns through a security checkpoint.
All attendees are encouraged to conduct themselves responsibly and in an orderly manner.

Jameson Timba and 78 Others Arraigned on Charges of Unlawful Assembly and Disorderly Conduct |
By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – June 19, 2024 | Jameson Timba and 78 others appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court today, facing serious charges of participating in a gathering with the intent to promote violence, breaches of peace or bigotry, and disorderly conduct.
The state alleges that on June 16, 2024, around 1400 hours, police received information about an unsanctioned gathering at 6 Downie Road, Strathaven, Avondale West, Harare. The gathering was reportedly for an unlawful demonstration. When police arrived to investigate, the crowd became hostile and violent, throwing stones at officers and damaging a police vehicle. Two officers were injured in the incident, prompting the use of tear gas and subsequent arrests.
Among the accused is a 17-year-old minor, remanded to his guardian’s custody. Another individual showing signs of mental health issues was detained under Section 26 of the Mental Health Act and awaits examination by two doctors.
The accused challenged their detention, but the State opposed the application. The ruling on their remand is scheduled for tomorrow at 1115 hours.
The French Football Federation (FFF) has issued an update on Kylian Mbappe, who suffered a broken nose in France’s Euro 2024 opener against Austria on Monday.
The 25-year-old, one of the biggest names at the tournament, suffered the injury when he collided with the shoulder of Austrian defender Kevin Danso while challenging for a header.
He was substituted near the end and left the stadium in an ambulance to undergo X-rays.
A statement published by the FFF confirmed the extent of the injury, saying Mbappe had undergone tests at a hospital in Duesseldorf before rejoining the France squad at their base in Paderborn, a two-hour drive to the east.
The statement reads: “Kylian Mbappé has returned to the base camp of the French national team last night after medical tests.
“Mbappé suffered broken nose during the second part of the Austria-France held this Monday in Düsseldorf.
“Kylian will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future.
“A mask will be made for Mbappé so he can prepare for return available after a period dedicated to treatment.”
However, it is not clear if that means Mbappe will be able to play in France’s next game, against the Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday. Soccer24 Zimbabwe
Day of the African Child 2024 Spotlights Urgency for Universal Education”
By A Correspondent
In 2024, the Day of the African Child resonates with a powerful call to action: “Education for all children in Africa: the time is now.”
This theme, perfectly aligned with the African Union’s dedicated Year of Education, underscores the continent’s commitment to transforming educational landscapes. At its core, the goal is to fortify resilient education systems that guarantee inclusive, lifelong, high-quality, and relevant learning opportunities for all African children.
Education stands as the cornerstone of development and progress, shaping generations and fostering socio-economic advancements across the continent. However, Africa faces multifaceted challenges in ensuring universal access to education.
These include infrastructure gaps, socio-economic disparities, cultural barriers, and, notably, the enduring impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on learning continuity. Despite these hurdles, the resolve to enhance educational outcomes remains unwavering.
The African Union’s Year of Education serves as a pivotal platform to recalibrate strategies, amplify initiatives, and mobilize resources towards achieving comprehensive educational goals. Central to this effort is the pursuit of inclusivity, ensuring that no child is left behind due to gender, disability, geographical location, or socio-economic status. By prioritizing inclusivity, African nations aim to harness the full potential of their youthful populations, fostering environments where every child can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
Moreover, the emphasis on lifelong learning underscores the importance of adaptable educational systems that equip learners with skills relevant to the evolving demands of the global economy. This approach not only prepares youth for employment but also nurtures entrepreneurship, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities essential for sustainable development.
Quality education goes hand in hand with relevance. It requires curricula that reflect African contexts, histories, and aspirations, promoting cultural pride and a sense of identity among learners. By embedding these elements into educational frameworks, African nations cultivate a generation empowered to tackle local and global challenges with ingenuity and resilience.
The Day of the African Child in 2024 serves as a poignant reminder of the imperative to accelerate progress towards educational equity. It beckons governments, civil society organizations, educators, parents, and stakeholders at large to redouble their efforts in advancing policies and practices that guarantee every child’s right to education. Collaboration across sectors is crucial in fostering environments conducive to learning, where partnerships forge pathways for sustainable development and prosperity.
As we celebrate the Day of the African Child in 2024 under the banner of “Education for all children in Africa: the time is now,” let us reaffirm our commitment to nurturing the potential of every African child.
By investing in education today, we sow the seeds for a prosperous tomorrow, where Africa’s youth stand as drivers of innovation, progress, and positive change on the global stage.

STATEMENT OF INTENT OF THE 2024 GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY
**Preamble**
1. South Africa has made strides since 1994 toward establishing a non-racial, non-sexist, united and democratic society and improving the lives of all who live in it. We are building a democratic state guided by a progressive Constitution and a system of institutions that aim to translate the values of the Constitution into practice.
2. The 2024 national and provincial election was highly contested and, at times, divisive. The results of the election have the potential to foment further political and social fragmentation. Relatively low levels of voter turnout and registration suggest growing alienation from the political system.
3. At this historic juncture, we must act to ensure stability and peace, tackling the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality, entrench our Constitutional democracy and the rule of law, and to build a South Africa for all its people.
4. The people of South Africa expect us to work together as political parties to achieve these objectives, and to usher in a new era of peace, justice and prosperity for all.
5. It is in this context that we, as Political Parties, that participated in the 2024 Elections and received seats in the national and provincial legislatures, pledge to cooperate through a voluntary Government of National Unity (GNU).
6. The GNU2024 shall include cooperation in both the Executive and the Legislature.
7. The parties reaffirm our collective commitment to the founding values of the Constitution and to the preamble to the Constitution, which reads: – “We, the people of South Africa, Recognize the injustices of our past; Honour those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land; Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country, and, Believe that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity. We therefore, through our freely elected representatives, adopt this Constitution as the supreme law of the Republic.”
### FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF THE GNU
8. All parties to the GNU commit to uphold the following fundamental principles: – 8.1 Respect for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights in its entirety, a united South Africa and the rule of law. – 8.2 Non-racialism and non-sexism. – 8.3 Social justice, redress and equity, and the alleviation of poverty. – 8.4 Human dignity and the progressive realization of socio-economic rights. – 8.5 Nation-building, social cohesion and unity in diversity. – 8.6 Peace, stability and safe communities, especially for women and children. – 8.7 Accountability, transparency and community participation in government. – 8.8 Evidence-based policy and decision-making. – 8.9 A professional, merit-based, non-partisan, developmental public service that puts people first. – 8.10 Integrity, good governance and accountable leadership.
9. All parties that form part of the GNU commit to these principles.
10. The GNU is constituted in the interest of all South Africans. This Statement of Intent will therefore be a public document to ensure accountability and foster trust between the electorate and the political parties that form part of the GNU.
### BASIC MINIMUM PROGRAMME OF PRIORITIES
11. As Parties to this GNU, we agree that the 7th administration should focus on the following priorities: – 11.1 Rapid, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, the promotion of fixed capital investment and industrialization, job creation, transformation, livelihood support, land reform, infrastructure development, structural reforms and the sustainable use of our national resources and endowments. Macro-economic management must support national development goals in a sustainable manner. – 11.2 Creating a more just society by tackling poverty, spatial inequalities, food security and the high cost of living, providing a social safety net, improving access to and the quality of, basic services, and protecting workers’ rights. – 11.3 Stabilising local government, effective cooperative governance, the assignment of appropriate responsibilities to different spheres of government and review of the role of traditional leadership in the governance framework. – 11.4 Investing in people through education, skills development and affordable quality health care. – 11.5 Building state capacity and creating a professional, merit-based, corruption-free and developmental public service. Restructuring and improving state-owned entities to meet national development goals. – 11.6 Strengthening law enforcement agencies to address crime, corruption and gender-based violence, as well as strengthening national security capabilities. – 11.7 Strengthening the effectiveness of Parliament in respect of its legislative and oversight functions. – 11.8 Strengthening social cohesion, nation-building and democratic participation, and undertaking common programmes against racism, sexism, tribalism and other forms of intolerance. – 11.9 Foreign policy based on human rights, constitutionalism, the national interest, solidarity, peaceful resolution of conflicts, to achieve the African Agenda 2063, South-South, North-South cooperation, multilateralism and a just, peaceful and equitable world.
### MODALITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY
14. Parties will work together in good faith and seek to build consensus on the formation of government where no party has an outright majority, on the basis of the above shared values and minimum programme, and in the interest of all South Africa’s people.
15. Parties will cooperate with each other in respect of the executive and/or legislature activities to advance these shared goals.
16. The Government of National Unity shall be constituted in a manner that reflects genuine inclusiveness of political parties that are party to this Statement of Intent and are represented in the National Assembly broadly taking into account the number of seats parties have in the National Assembly and the need to advance the National Interest. The President shall in constituting the Executive, take into account the electoral outcomes.
17. Whilst recognizing the President’s prerogative to appoint Members of the Executive, such appointments should be done in consultation with the Leaders of the respective Parties of the Members considered for appointment.
18. The GNU shall take decisions in accordance with the established practice of consensus. Where no consensus is possible, the principle of sufficient consensus shall apply.
19. Sufficient consensus exists when: – 19.1 All parties have had the opportunity to express their views; – 19.2 Despite reasonable attempts to resolve disagreements, and find common ground, there is no general consensus; – 19.3 Parties to the GNU representing 60% of seats in the National Assembly agree; – 19.4 Any party that disagrees has been able to formally record their objections.

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF internal sources said the recent audio recordings of Wicknell Chivhayo bragging about having President Emmerson Mnangagwa “in his pockets” have deepened divisions within Zimbabwe’s ruling party.
Sources indicate that these revelations particularly embitter Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
The ex-convict, known for his extravagant lifestyle, has been distributing cash and expensive cars to select celebrities while publicly campaigning for Mnangagwa’s continued rule beyond 2028.
This move has raised eyebrows within the party, especially given an apparent gentleman’s agreement where Mnangagwa would step aside for Chiwenga in 2028.
Weeks after Chivhayo’s public appearances with President Mnangagwa at several State functions, audio recordings surfaced.
In these recordings, Chivhayo claims that Mnangagwa and other senior government officials are in his “pockets”.
He alleges that Mnangagwa considers him a “son” and that he is leveraging this relationship for personal gain.
He further accuses his former business partners, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, of fabricating the audio using advanced technology as part of an extortion scheme.
The trio is reportedly in conflict over a contentious US$40 million deal to supply election materials to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
ZANU PF’s politburo sources express concern over Mnangagwa’s association with dubious characters like Chivhayo.
A politburo member commented, “The issue of concern is why Zanu PF has largely remained silent when Chivhayo has dragged the party leader into the mud. Party bigwigs are questioning Mnangagwa over the shady characters frequently seen at State House.”
In response, the Zanu PF Youth League recently warned Chivhayo against exploiting the party’s name and state structures for self-gain.
A senior party member noted that the Youth League, often the voice of party elites, swiftly intervened to support Mnangagwa, signaling that Zanu PF itself would not directly engage in the scandal. “The Youth League’s intervention was a message to Chivhayo, and he understood it,” the official said.
On Sunday, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) announced plans to interview Mpofu, Chimombe, and Chivhayo to clarify the alleged ZEC deal.
The two, Tuesday, said they were not in the country.

By Matigege Dhaina | The casual observer is focusing on the wrong issues around money and alleged undue influence of Tsambarafuta on Mukuru and administration. The Jedai mind trick is having our attention set on looking at invoices and comparing pricing of this and that. There must be more to it….
What if I put it to you that quite plausibly we are not talking about delivery of election materials nor pricing thereof. We have hidden in plain sight not understanding that this relationship and contract with the SA company is not just delivery of hardware and software but the whole modeling of election results. Yes, I am talking about pre-cooked election results. Who needed electoral campaign foot soldiers…..
With that secured, no one needed war veterans and their traditional commissariat functions. The elections were made to order. Tsambarafuta is perhaps the Tom Ford of the last elections charade….
In other words, if my thinking and analysis are true, then it means he, together with close networks, is the architect of the last electoral results and thus the technical midwife of this administration. Haana kuchibata kuti dzvii chete but more importantly “chinhu chake.”
For those of you who played street football in the ghettos… the owner of the football can’t be inconvenienced or have an embarrassing scoreline run on them lest they take their football. Munhu webhora aisiyiwa achiita nonsense dzake.
On further analysis, Tsambarafuta can only be liquidated/silenced or sprung to freedom as he knows too much. Whereas Mike Chimombe and Mpofu can expect maximum punishments for breaching the Mafia code of silence. That’s why they are bringing in the Presidential Goat Scheme. Hapana akashaya mbudzi dzaanoti dzake. They took money cleanly…. near victimless fraud.
Tsambarafuta was getting paid for many more unmentionable things than election materials. I submit it to you that he quite possibly delivered the whole election for intended beneficiaries. When you combine money laundering, drug dealing, minerals smuggling, religious extortion, human trafficking, cash and statutory document printing, and most critically election stealing techniques, you begin to imagine and understand the influence and power that Tsambarafuta plus network wields.
Therefore, he can’t escape from justice but is quite plausibly sprung to freedom on account of possible sensitive intelligence leakages. All things considered, he remains a valuable asset to many in the shit-stem….
Zimbabweans have a half-moon memory, that’s our undoing. I can’t imagine how people, with the amount of educational degrees conferred per capita… we are easily turned dimwits via diverted attention to trivia. In this day and age, we still get tight necks tantalized by secondhand Toyota Aqua mechanical toys…. foregoing the deeper issues of election thievery….. yet again!
The pungent odor of Nikuv ink of 2018 hasn’t even died off… yet the electorate seem oblivious of the raging power-hungry octogenarian’s antics, so generously sponsored by ZEC and the closely looped ‘Vene chewers’ of the national treasure and resources. One would have thought it obvious that the masses were going to react decisively to stop that rot en masse… but as usual, our education is our undoing. Kufunda handi kudzidza chokwadi.
Zimbabwe leaked blood in 2018 and became the hunting ground for modified democracy molders… Alas… the appetite proved high and not lacking of and trophy buyers.
There is nothing better than a return client and Nikuv a very willing service provider. Gone are the days for ink-smudged fingers risking discovery even by election monitoring novices… in comes the cutest girl in the hood… server mirroring!
Chivhayo and crew supplied to ZEC exactly what was ordered… servers.
They didn’t inflate any invoices… and neither did they underdeliver. Of concern to a seemingly educated electorate was supposed to be the delivery centers of the plebiscite material…
ZEC Command Centre equipment and the mirrored control and manipulation center… well away from prying eyes. What a marvel remote Network Operating Center (NOC) technology is.
Zim Command Centre could easily be just an input center but actual tallying and subsequent manipulation done by mirror equipment by Nikuv champions in well air-conditioned suites thousands of miles away from the Towers Center. Internet resource control and tactical usage thereof can easily make one a god to a miseducated and overassuming populace.

To reward for superb work done, the *’Vicor of State House’* had to be granted absolute distribution rights and petit control of the new and efficient, easy to access internet platform, Starlink. A lot of seemingly unrelated occurrences manifested right in our eyes all in the name of pleasing the Vicor and his little band of disciples for the Smart Electoral Victory Prowess.
This of course never quite possibly happened. It’s some random third-eye analysis….
By Political Reporter-Recent audio recordings of Wicknell Chivhayo bragging about having President Emmerson Mnangagwa “in his pockets” have deepened divisions within Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu PF.

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Authorities in Harare have said they gathered more documentary evidence into a case of alleged money laundering and abuse of office involving Wicknell Chivayo, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu.
Chivhayo, Mpofu and Chimombe are embroiled in a dispute over sharing loot in the supply of election materials to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in the run-up to the 23 August 2023 general elections.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) chair, Michael Reza said they have built a strong case against the trio. He said:
I can tell you, right now we have some documents which we want to show the three gentlemen and I hope I am not prejudicing investigations, but I want Zimbabwe to know that we have not been sitting on this investigation.
We have collected certain facts and when that information comes on form 242 and if everything goes according to plan, we will use this to go to court. You will see detailed information with facts, figures and numbers. You will see those things mark my words.
Reza warned the three men that should they fail to present themselves voluntarily to ZACC, they would visit them.
We know they have their rights but we have our time limit. If they don’t come we will go after them… Zimbabweans should know that ZACC is not toothless. President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said there are no sacred cows.
I want Zimbabweans to know that there are no sacred cows in the fight against corruption and that is the stance we have taken as ZACC.
Chimombe and Mpofu accuse Chivayo of fraudulently changing their contract with South African company Ren-Form and Better Brands to supply voting material to ZEC.
The US$40 million tender was for the supply of biometric voter registration kits and other electoral materials to ZEC during the 2023 general elections.
It is alleged that in cahoots with Ren-Form officials, Chivayo later fraudulently amended the agreement to remove his fellow business partners and grabbed the money for himself, 66% of the payments.
On Sunday, ZACC spokesperson Thandiwe Mlobane said they will interview Mpofu, Chimombe, and Chivayo to gather more information and gain clarity on the alleged ZEC deal. The three men are said to be currently out of the country.
Chimombe and Mpofu’s lawyers wrote to ZEC Tuesday advising that their clients were out of the country.
Sergio Ramos is to leave Sevilla for the second time at the end of his contract, the LaLiga club announced on Monday.
Ramos, who started his professional career at Sevilla in 2004, only spent one season at the La Liga side after returning to his former club after 18 years last season.
A statement by Sevilla confirmed his exit, saying: “Sergio Ramos has informed Sevilla FC that he will not continue next season in the Nervión entity after having fulfilled his dream of returning to the club where he trained as a player and achieved full international status. Sergio Ramos has played 37 games in the 23/24 season, with a total of 3,301 minutes and 7 goals to his credit.
“Sevilla FC would like to thank Sergio Ramos for the commitment, leadership and maximum dedication that he has shown in this campaign, wishing him the best of luck in his next professional challenge. Sergio Ramos will say goodbye publicly this Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the press room of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, accompanied by the president, José María del Nido Carrasco.”
In an interview with Sophie Mokoena on SABC News, former Zimbabwean Information Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo launched scathing allegations against current Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa, accusing him of being the “richest individual in Zimbabwe through stealing.”
These accusations, if true, paint a disturbing picture of corruption at the highest levels of Zimbabwean politics.
Professor Moyo did not mince words in his accusations, stating, “Mnangagwa stole billions of cash through diamonds in Chiadzwa.
Brought the Chinese to loot resources. He set up Zanu PF companies to steal resources.”
These claims suggest a pattern of systematic corruption and exploitation of Zimbabwe’s natural resources for personal gain.
The backdrop of these allegations includes Mnangagwa’s rise to power, notably through a controversial coup in 2017 that ousted long-time leader Robert Mugabe.
Professor Moyo implied that this coup was an attempt by Mnangagwa to cleanse himself and his allies of their alleged corruption: “Mnangagwa staged a coup to atone for corruption.”
Further complicating the allegations are claims that Mnangagwa, along with other key figures such as Constantino Chiwenga and SB Moyo, were involved in looting resources during the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) war.
These accusations, if substantiated, underscore a troubling history of exploiting regional conflicts for personal enrichment.
In response to these serious allegations, Mnangagwa’s administration has consistently denied any wrongdoing, portraying such claims as politically motivated attacks by detractors.
However, these allegations from a former insider like Jonathan Moyo, who was once part of the ruling Zanu PF party, add significant weight to existing concerns about corruption within Zimbabwe’s political elite.
The broader implications of these allegations extend beyond domestic politics, affecting Zimbabwe’s international reputation and its ability to attract foreign investment.
The perception of widespread corruption at the highest levels of government can undermine economic stability and erode public trust in institutions.
As calls for transparency and accountability grow louder both within Zimbabwe and from the international community, the spotlight remains firmly on Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration.
Whether these allegations will lead to concrete investigations or reforms remains uncertain, but they highlight the urgent need for effective governance and ethical leadership in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Lucy Yasini last night. Lucy was a journalist of great repute who embodied the highest standards of journalism ethics. She never compromised on the truth and always shunned sensationalism, instead opting for balanced and fair reporting.
Her dedication to her craft was inspiring, and her humility and sweet soul made her a joy to work with. I will miss her dearly, as will many others who had the privilege of knowing her.
My heartfelt condolences go out to the Yasini family, friends, members of the fourth estate, and colleagues. May Lucy’s legacy continue to inspire us all to strive for excellence and integrity in our work. Rest in peace, dear Lucy. Your contributions to journalism will never be forgotten.
May God grant you eternal rest and comfort those who mourn your passing.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Over 80 Zimbabweans are being deported from Namibia within 24 hours, ZimEye can reveal.
The citizens abandoned by the Mnangagwa regime’s embassy in Windhoek, were rounded up in the capital city and accused of being illegals.
”My brother has all the papers, and yet they targeted him and others in an operation that we just don’t understand, “ a source told ZimEye Tuesday.
Some of the deportees have been in detention for 6 months.
“I think we have had success at this point. Hanzi the detainees will be deported to Zimbabwe from tomorrow, latest Wednesday. Thank you for your help ????,” wrote one relative speaking with ZimEye.
The Zimbabwean embassy was still to comment over the matter at the time of writing. – Refresh this page for an update.
By Dr Raymond Chamba | When the house is burning and those close to the homestead or in choice parts do nothing to put it out, the danger of being an accomplice is quite high. In life and it’s circumstances there is always a categorisation of crimes being those of ommission and commission.
In my books it’s a higher act of criminal negligence when one has the opportunity and more than anything the responsibility to act and they somewhat see it as safe or strategic game theorise choose to do nothing.

Iam specifically giving a very clear public advise if not warning to those who are witness to Dzimbahwe being on fire, can do something about it but choose to remain safely sequestered in indifferent and false neutral territory.
“This is not a time to keep the facts from the people- to keep them complacent. To sound the alarm is not to panic buy to seek action from am aroused public. For, as the poet Dante once said: the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in a time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality”. John F. Kennedy.
This includes not in any particular order the immediate family of those leading/misleading if not bleeding the nation, the extended relatives and most critically those around the circle of power. For the immediate family, for now you have come out and publicly identified yourself participating in the feeding frenzy. We know you and so is everyone keeping an eye on you….
You may think there is so many of you but need I remind you that everywhere in Zimbabwe and around the globe you are surrounded by victims of your father’s crimes. The mass pillage of our country cannot be allowed to go on forever and the people will never forget or forgive. As sure as the sun will rise and set you will have punishment meted out to you.
You will not enjoy the fruits of the present indulgence into primitive accumulation. The better part of your lives will be spend in regret, on the run or losing that which you though you had safely accumulated and hidden. Most of all it will be a shame and a perpetual source of insecurity to acknowledge your own names. Imagine that.
To those adults that are in the room and choose to play dead while those possessed by the demon of losing their minds and stealing the people’s treasure ….you are next. No explanation shall be sufficient and no hiding place will be enough to extricate yourself from the coming imminent danger.
History and real time circumstance will band you together with the clear enemies of the people. You are over relying on private promises and arrangements and letting the country slip away into a den of thieves, international smugglers, drug dealers, election pirates, human traffickers/ organ harvesters and military mercenaries. From your indifference shall quite naturally arise a new sea change of cataclysmic change from the blind.
You will be swept away and buried literally and from history. You chose to make deals while the country was on fire. The good kids busy doing homework, while the bad ones were setting it on fire shall suffer the same fate….
The extended relatives are going to get it worse because you wildly celebrated and over exaggerated your nearness to power based on nothing more than long family ties. Many of you have gotten nothing except the profile picture of lions. You are just Facebook and WhatsApp lions and the people will never forget nor forgive you.
Yours will be punishment most undeserved but certain to come. Munofira mahara. You will pay big time for the small bread crumbs, the stolen pictures and memories which in irrational exuberance you chose to exaggerate. The Internet never forgets and neither will the angry masses of Zimbabwe.
Let me blatantly put it this way- unless and until something drastic happens within the next few months, we run the real risk of entering into the territory of a massive unled revolution. The damage will be total and far reaching reflecting the palpable boiling cauldron of a people’s anger.
Without a template of order and institutional memory of continuity everything standing and of note runs the risk of being razed to the ground. It’s like the Armaggedon of the revenge of street kids, drug fuelled unemployed unemployable and perhaps four generations of regret at a national dream deferred and stolen. It will be massively supported by mid level to lower ranking security officers and it will clean up everything in its wake.
The choice is clear and stark. Support and steer a radical shift in things. Step up and establish irrefutable and predictable institutional and constitutional order/continuity or wake up to the streets swallowing everything up in a cloud of popular anger.
There are those who believe the casual Cafe Nush indifferent analysis that it will not happen here. Oh waal, I have news for you, it’s coming and fast…..
Do something before something gets done to you. That’s my loving and humble advise to those of access, mental, administrative order and clarity and the even few having the albatross of family ties around your neck. Muchadya Izvozvo. There is a big fire coming and it will leave little to nothing standing. I love you. I forgive you. I humbly, kindly warn and advise you in equal order…..
Garai Makagadzirira. Hamuzive Musi Nenguva. Lets go United Methodist singing and be alert. “I can feel it coming” and it’s no song from The Weeknd either. “I can feel it in the air” and it’s not Jay Z, Beanie Sigel and Mellisa Jay crooning….
By Crime and Courts Reporter- Zanu PF sympathiser and convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivhayo and his looting partners, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, have refused to report to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for questioning about a US$40 million corruption deal orchestrated by Chivhayo.
The three men are suspects in the US$40 million Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) tender scandal.
They have claimed they cannot turn themselves in for interviews with ZACC as they are currently out of the country.
On Sunday, ZACC stated that it seeks to interview Chivhayo, Chimombe, and Mpofu to gather more information about the alleged ZEC deal and its beneficiaries.
Chimombe and Mpofu’s attorneys, Antonio & Dzvetero Legal Practitioners, wrote to ZACC spokesperson Thandiwe Mlobane on Monday, explaining that their clients are currently “out of the country” but will present themselves for questioning once they return.
The letter read: “We act for and on behalf of Messrs. Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe, who have been made aware of press releases and/or advertisements in various media outlets, including print and electronic media, indicating your interest in interviewing them as part of an ongoing investigation. Our clients are currently out of the country and will not be able to attend any interviews until their return to Zimbabwe. However, they are willing to cooperate fully with the investigations and are available to attend any requested interviews upon their return.”
Reports indicate that Chivhayo secured contracts worth up to US$40 million with ZEC in the August 2023 general elections for providing tents, electronic devices, biometric hardware and software, ink, and training, among other items.
Chivhayo pocketed the proceeds of the corrupt deal and sidelined Mpofu and Chimombe.

BY GODFREY STANLEY | COMMENT | ZIMEYE | Amid the euphoria and excitement over the Chivayo leaked audios, and the explosive detail crucial for restoring law and order to the country, is an intensive state security operation to cover up everything. The accused whistleblowers of the Wicknell Chivayo 2023-election scam, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu are in trouble for violating the mafia code of silence.
The Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission will be used to lower public angers and a new cloud of emotional dust flung at Chimombe and Mpofu. ZACC Chairperson, the nation’s most notorious historic prosecutor, Michael Reza is very clear in his tone and context that the two will be charged for breaking the code of secrecy. Chimombe and Mpofu were supposed to have table manners: you shouldn’t talk while you eat. Chimombe was supposed to behave like a real cow,: eat silently and regurgitate at night! Chivayo even said it, that there are too many tenders out there in various ministries still to be taken, you just need to run around, and you can begin from the latest one, at police, and at immigration- passport printing.
This is my prediction and I stand by it, of which in full, Chivayo says during his second audio leak:

Good morning, good morning eeh members. Aaah, South Africa has received the money and they have said that they want to start off with payments for the 1,000,000 to Better Brands which is what we had signed the contract for, then after the holiday we will be able to engage them because we had agreed to give them seven days for the money to go smoothly without money laundering clearance bottlenecks, they don’t want to appear like they are going too fast with money, so for Easter purposes I put pressure for 1 million to be paid so that we can run around; so as agreed Scott is going to take 350,000, then 150 000 goes to Mike, then another 150,000 goes to Mpofu, and then Moms gets 100,000 and then DG we give him 100,000, to make a total of 1 million isn’t it? 150 x 4 is 600, then Scott his 200 to make 800. What do I do? What also I do? Scott takes 350 then 650,000. 650,000 remains; moms gets 100, 100 then 450 we split for 3: 150 and 150 and 150 so if the money, R18,000,000 goes to Scott’s FNB account he opened last month, it will be frozen there at FNB. So can you send me, your bank account numbers, Mpofu his, Mike, his, so that we can settle the amounts this morning the 150 payments, I also get mine and then the rest we talk next week; Okay. Please send them as soon as possible, thank you;
Chief Jose (Joseph Mhaka, convicted UK Cheque fraudster) You went out talking talking to, Saying a lot of things about me. Chief Jose, is my best friend from 1992. How can you do this to me to go and work with Mpofu, you can see that these people are after me threatening me over goat issues, I told you, let’s do this privately. But you are going all over the show saying all sorts of things. All sorts of threats. Things won’t end well; things won’t end well. I don’t know how you are getting all this strength, and now to be honest, even this thing of your companies that do printing to be honest, I’m not interested. I want us to finish this next week, then we shake hands and then we part our ways. Because it is pointless hey. I’m saying, come let us eat my friend. I have an opportunity. I thought you were going to do the tender business, and then you control everything there where you are, and then you tell me how much you want to be paid; in such situations I won’t get involved in your matters over there. But then you are causing a big mayhem. I don’t know if it is being broke which is giving you that excitement and big respect. I don’t understand. Two minutes, you have phoned here two minutes later you have done that; why are you involving Joseph Mhaka(UK convicted cheque fraudster). How does he get involved? Why can’t you be calm like a kamarada, a comrade who is composed? I am just disappointed and sorry to say all those other things that I was saying before I am no longer interested with the issues of that job, because they are not worth my while. I am now being bothered tossed to and fro, every two minutes, you say things won’t end well. I don’t work with people who threaten me. I work in love with the love, collaborating with each other well, as I give you facts: improve their arguments improve your arguments, Don’t raise your voice to me. Say, aaah, Sir here you are telling the truth. But my own point is this and this and this. What do you think about this? What do you think? What do you think about this? Not to spend every two minutes making threats things are going to explode. Things are going to explode. But now I am not a person who gets involved in violence. I have lived that life and I left it behind. I am a man of Business. I sit in boardrooms and we discuss together inside there. We must sit in and then we have failed to agree let’s fail to agree properly. If people say that this is the last job that we are doing together, it is still okay. We are still friends, you know. Now everyone is calling me; The issue is being discussed by everyone. Aaah, it is just disappointing. Anyway, send me your bank details as fast as possible. Thank you. –

By A Correspondent| Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo has appeared in a video scoffing at remarks by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson Michael Reza who said they have invited the ex-convict and his allies Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu for questioning.
In a video circulating on social media, Chivhayo is heard playing Jah Prayzah’s song with the lyrics, “vanonyaudza kunge nhengure, handikendenge mambo, kungonyaudza kunge nhengure, handikendenge mambo.”
Nhengure is regarded as one of the wise birds. If one is described as nhengure, it means she/he is wise.
The sounds of birds like gwenhure were associated with time gauging. As young boys on a chilly rainy summer day, their chirps signified sundown. With no watches for time, we would know that that was the day’s end and we were going to rest from the toiling with cows. Most birds show the coming of dawn.

ZACC Omits Priscilla Chigumba’s Name Amidst Election Funds Misappropriation Scandal.
By A Correspondent | ZimEye| Harare, June 18, 2024 – The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is facing intense scrutiny after revelations that Priscilla Chigumba, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), has been omitted from the list of individuals implicated in the misappropriation of election funds, despite clear evidence of her involvement.
ZACC Chairperson Michael Reza addressed the media yesterday regarding the ongoing ZEC procurement case, which has already implicated high-profile figures like Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe. Reza stated, “I want Zimbabweans to know that we have not been sitting on this. We have collected certain information. When we go to court and look at Form 242, you will see detailed information with facts, figures, and numbers.
So far we have three names that featured: Mike Chimombe, Moses Mpofu, and Wicknell Chivhayo. If other names pop up during investigations, we will pursue those.”
However, the exclusion of Chigumba’s name has raised serious questions, given the documented evidence of her role in the scandal. Sources close to the investigation confirmed that Chigumba was involved in the distribution and misappropriation of election funds, making her omission from the list of implicated individuals highly contentious.
The decision to exclude Chigumba has ignited accusations of selective prosecution and political bias within ZACC. Opposition leaders and civil society organizations have expressed outrage, demanding a transparent investigation that holds all involved parties accountable, regardless of their political stature.
Critics argue that ZACC’s credibility is at stake and that the integrity of Zimbabwe’s anti-corruption efforts is being compromised. They are calling for an unbiased and thorough investigation to restore public confidence in the commission’s commitment to justice.
In his statement, Reza reassured the public that the investigation is still active and that additional names could emerge as it progresses. He however said the investigation would be limited to “certain facts.”
The public remains cautiously optimistic but skeptical, awaiting concrete actions from ZACC to prove its dedication to an impartial and comprehensive investigation. As the situation develops, the spotlight remains firmly on ZACC and its handling of this high-profile case.

Harare, Zimbabwe – In a dramatic turn of events, Marvellous Mapfumo, a 34-year-old maid from Chitungwiza, has pleaded guilty to stealing US$107,000 from her Chinese employer, Mr. Sisi Lin, an accountant at Tian-tian Fresh Mart Supermarket. Mapfumo, who is set to be sentenced today, shared the stolen money with two police officers who have since gone on the run.
The court heard that Mr. Lin habitually kept large sums of money in a drawer in his bedroom. Mapfumo, while cleaning, noticed the accumulating funds and confided in her boyfriend, Herbert Chikwiza Kurebgwaseka. Kurebgwaseka advised her to wait until a substantial amount had accumulated before executing the theft.
On May 30, Mapfumo stole the full US$107,000 from Mr. Lin. She then shared the money with Kurebgwaseka and another police officer, Paul Kondo, who had promised to protect her. The two officers took US$60,000, while Mapfumo retained US$47,000.
Kurebgwaseka subsequently took possession of Mapfumo’s share, claiming it was for her protection as he suspected they were being tracked by detectives. After her arrest near Bulawayo while attempting to flee the country, Mapfumo was taken back to CID Highlands in Harare, where she implicated Kurebgwaseka and Kondo in the crime.
Further investigations revealed that Kondo had taken Mapfumo to his girlfriend’s house in Sunningdale, restricting her from communicating with others while he arranged for her to escape to South Africa. Between May 30 and June 11, Mapfumo stayed with Kondo’s girlfriend, who later helped her find a rental property in Glen View 3 and purchased some household items for her.
On June 12, 2024, detectives from CID Nkulumane in Bulawayo received a tip from three sources indicating that Mapfumo had boarded a truck heading to South Africa via Botswana. Acting on this information, the detectives intercepted the truck and arrested Mapfumo. Authorities have since seized the property purchased with the stolen money and a Honda Fit owned by Kondo, which was used in the commission of the crime.
As Mapfumo faces her sentencing, the search for Kurebgwaseka and Kondo continues, with the police urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward.- Agencies
By Dorrothy Moyo | The tragic incident involving Passion Link Coaches, which resulted in the deaths of eight Anglican Church pilgrims, raises significant legal issues concerning road safety and vehicle maintenance regulations. Transport Minister Felix Mhona’s confirmation that the bus was unroadworthy and lacked a certificate of fitness implicates both the owner and the driver in serious legal violations.
Minister Mhona said “the bus was unroadworthy and was being driven without a certificate of fitness.”
He suggested that the company owner and the driver will be prosecuted.
Legal Framework and Liability
Vehicle Fitness and Roadworthiness
Under most jurisdictions, including Zimbabwe’s Road Traffic Act, it is illegal to operate a vehicle that is not roadworthy. A certificate of fitness is a mandatory requirement, ensuring that vehicles meet safety standards. Failure to obtain and maintain this certificate can result in severe penalties.
Case Law Examples
R v. Campbell (1970): In this case, the owner of a commercial vehicle was prosecuted after an accident revealed that the vehicle was unroadworthy. The court held the owner liable for failing to ensure the vehicle was maintained to a safe standard, resulting in a conviction for negligence.
S v. Dhlamini (1992): Here, the driver of a passenger bus was found guilty of culpable homicide after a crash that killed several passengers. The investigation revealed that the bus had significant mechanical defects. The court ruled that the driver had a duty to ensure the vehicle was in a roadworthy condition before operating it.
Mutasa v. The State (2014): In a similar Zimbabwean case, the Supreme Court upheld the conviction of a bus company owner whose vehicle, lacking a proper certificate of fitness, was involved in a fatal accident. The court emphasized the owner’s responsibility to comply with vehicle safety regulations.
Specific Charges and Legal Consequences
Manslaughter or Culpable Homicide
Both the owner and the driver of Passion Link Coaches could face charges of culpable homicide, given that their negligence directly contributed to the deaths of the pilgrims. Culpable homicide is charged when an individual’s unlawful act or omission results in death, and it carries severe penalties, including imprisonment.
Negligence and Duty of Care
The owner has a legal duty to ensure that all vehicles in their fleet are maintained and certified as fit for use. This includes regular inspections and obtaining the necessary certificates. The driver also has a duty to verify the vehicle’s fitness before operating it. Failing to fulfill these duties constitutes negligence.
Civil Liability
In addition to criminal charges, the victims’ families may pursue civil claims for damages against both the owner and the driver. They could seek compensation for wrongful death, loss of support, and other related damages. Civil courts often look at similar precedents when awarding damages:
Ngcobo v. Santam Insurance Co Ltd (1996): The court awarded substantial damages to the family of a deceased passenger, emphasizing the operator’s duty to ensure vehicle safety.
Government and Regulatory Implications
This incident highlights the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations. The Transport Ministry may need to review and enhance its inspection and compliance mechanisms to prevent such tragedies in the future. Legislative amendments might be considered to impose harsher penalties on those who flout safety regulations.
The prosecution of the owner and driver of Passion Link Coaches serves as a critical reminder of the serious responsibilities held by vehicle operators and owners. Legal precedents underscore the gravity of maintaining roadworthy vehicles and complying with safety standards to protect public safety. The outcomes of this case will likely have significant implications for road safety enforcement and regulatory policies in Zimbabwe.

Political Reporter- Police in Harare have arrested 20 political activists, including Jameson Timba.
Timba is the chief administrator of a CCC faction whose members are said to be close to Chamisa. They quit the party in January of this year, alleging infiltration by the ZANU PF-led government.
Their lawyer, Agency Gumbo, said Timba, his son and more than 40 youths were attending a private June 16 Youth Day meeting on Sunday at his residence in Avondale, Harare, when they were arrested. Said Gumbo:
Hon Timba and the youths were severely beaten and injured. Timba and 20 others are presently detained at Avondale Police whilst the other group has been taken to Harare Central Police Station. We demand the immediate release of our champions. They violated no law. Their arrest is a human rights issue!
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests.
He said:
I can confirm that 70 suspects were arrested at Jameson Timba’s house in Harare for conducting an unsanctioned gathering.
During the arrests, they became violent and started throwing stones at the police officers. Reinforcements were later called in.

By Political Reporter- A group of disgruntled former liberation fighters has floated the idea of forming a political party.
Their primary organisation, the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), is concerned that some members plan to transform the association into a political party to challenge Zanu PF in future elections.
Inspired by former South African President Jacob Zuma, who formed the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK Party) which contested the 29 May general elections and denied the ruling African National Congress (ANC) a governing majority, these war veterans are also against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s intentions to extend his mandate beyond the two-term constitutional limit.
The faction, led by Moffat Marashwa, walked out of a meeting held in Harare last Monday to discuss various issues affecting ex-combatants.
They claimed the meeting was being used to prepare for the formation of an opposition party. The meeting was co-chaired by War Veterans Minister Monica Mavhunga and acting Public Service Minister Lovemore Matuke.
National executive members of another ZNLWVA faction, such as Andrease Mathibela, Dadirai Gijimana, and Edward Dube, attended the meeting, along with Douglas Mahiya, the ZANU PF War Veterans League national secretary in the politburo.
In a communique dated June 11, 2024, seen by The Standard, Marashwa updated members of his faction, stating: “The meeting was intended to inform us of a roadmap they had planned to hold an illegal national congress of the ZNLWVA on an unknown date. Comrade Marashwa’s delegates walked out of the meeting after realizing that the meeting was intended to convert the ZNLWVA into a political party, like what happened in South Africa where MK challenged ANC in the recent elections. As your national executive committee, we are going to resist any actions intended to divert the ZNLWVA founding objectives of improving the welfare of our members.” Mathibela, who leads a ZNLWVA camp not affiliated with ZANU PF, confirmed the meeting but denied claims of plotting to form a new political party.
“There is no element of truth in that. We are just talking about the state of the nation where we pray things could change for the better for all Zimbabweans as currently, Zimbabwe is not functional.”

A United Kingdom Court has sentenced a Zimbabwean man Guy Mukendi (39 years old) to four Years and three Months In Prison for removing condom without the consent of his partner.
Mukendi, from Brixton, was sentenced on Thursday at inner London crown court for the rap€ of a woman last year.

Nonconsensual condom removal is classified as rap€ under separate laws applying in the UK nations.

By A Correspondent| In a startling development, Wicknell Chivayo, the controversial businessman, has been banned from entering the State House with immediate effect.
Reliable sources from State House disclosed to a Masvingo based publication that Chivayo, once a frequent visitor, is now prohibited from accessing the presidential residence.
Security personnel have been explicitly instructed to deny Chivayo entry.
This move follows the circulation of audio recordings on social media, purportedly of Chivayo, in which he claims to have “captured” President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
These audio leaks have caused significant uproar and prompted swift action from the authorities.
According to the sources, Chivayo previously enjoyed special privileges, such as being exempt from routine security searches when entering State House. However, the recent controversy has led to a complete reversal of this leniency.
The exact reasons behind the special treatment initially accorded to Chivayo remain unclear, but his current ban marks a significant shift in his standing with the State House.
In a related development, an influential female official associated with the MenBelievED movement has also reportedly been banned alongside Chivayo.
The official’s identity has not been disclosed, but her involvement suggests a broader crackdown following the audio leak incident.

As Richard Tsvangirai continues to navigate his political journey, many eyes remain on him to see how he will shape and uphold the principles and vision set forth by his late father in the struggle for democracy and justice in Zimbabwe.
South Africa’s uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party has announced its decision to join an alliance of smaller opposition parties in parliament to challenge the coalition government led by the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA). This move, aimed at creating a “Progressive Caucus” alongside the Marxist Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the centre-left United Democratic Movement, was announced by Nhlamulo Ndhlela, MK’s spokesperson.
The ANC, after three decades of dominance, recently formed a coalition with the DA, resulting in a “government of national unity.” This coalition comes after the ANC’s vote share plummeted from 57.5% in 2019 to 39.7% in the 2024 elections, securing only 159 out of 400 seats in the National Assembly . Christopher Vandome, a senior research fellow at Chatham House, highlights the challenges this new coalition faces: “The ANC is creaking at the seams and wounded by the success of Jacob Zuma’s MK. Alliance with the DA may be tricky to sell to party members” .
The Progressive Caucus, which holds nearly 30% of the seats in the National Assembly, aims to counter what they see as the rise of right-wing forces opposed to economic freedom, radical economic transformation, racial equality, and land repossession. Ndhlela stressed the importance of this united effort and indicated that the MK party plans to raise its allegations of a rigged election in both parliament and the courts, despite the Independent Electoral Commission declaring the election free and fair.
Former President Jacob Zuma, a prominent figure in the MK party, criticized the ANC-DA unity government, calling it “meaningless” and an “unholy alliance” led by white interests. Vandome adds that the internal dynamics of the ANC, a broad church with various factions, will significantly impact coalition negotiations: “The party is not a unitary force… each with separate views on who a preferred coalition partner should be” . This internal friction could either lead to a new environment of negotiation and consensus-building or create serious disruption and dysfunction in South African politics.
The formation of the Progressive Caucus and the entry of MK into parliamentary politics mark a significant shift. Vandome observes, “The rise of MK has allowed ANC top brass to blame their electoral underperformance solely on MK and not on their own governance record,” potentially enabling the ANC to reform and rejuvenate its core principles . However, the success and stability of these new political alignments remain uncertain as South Africa navigates this complex transition.- Agencies

Spain made an emphatic start to their quest to win a fourth European Championship with an impressive victory over Croatia at Olympiastadion Berlin.
First-half goals by Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal essentially settled the outcome before the break and, although Croatia offered little, this must still go down as a statement win for La Roja.
Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal became the youngest player in men’s Euros history when he started the game at the age of 16 years and 338 days, but it was Spain’s most experienced player who gave them the lead, silencing the Croatia fans who poured into Germany’s capital this weekend.
Ruiz collected the ball on the halfway line and had time to look up and thread a perfect pass for Morata to gallop through and slot past Dominik Livakovic for his 36th goal for his country.
After waiting almost half an hour for the breakthrough, Luis de la Fuente’s side took just over three minutes to extend their lead.
This time, it was Ruiz who found the net, beating two men when he was fed the ball on the edge of the area and firing in a shot that nicked off Josip Sutalo on its way past Livakovic.
Croatia came close to pulling a goal back when Josko Gvardiol’s drilled shot beat Unai Simon but also eluded Ante Budimir, who tried to divert it in as it flew wide of the far post.
But Spain continued to attack and wrapped up the points in first-half stoppage time when Yamal’s cross was turned home by Carvajal, who had stayed up following a corner.
A goal for the teenager to go with that assist was all that was missing, with Livakovic superbly denying him from close range early in the second half.
Croatia’s disappointing day got even worse when Bruno Petkovic saw his late penalty saved by Simon and then the video assistant referee disallowed his follow-up for encroachment into the area.
The 2022 World Cup semi-finalists must try to kickstart their Group B campaign when they face Albania in Hamburg on Thursday, the same day Spain face holders Italy in a mouth-watering clash in Gelsenkirchen.
Heavily armed police in Harare have today disrupted a Day of African Child commemorations program organized by pro-Nelson Chamisa youths. Borrowing from the apartheid book, the riotous police descended heavily on unsuspecting Harare youths and injured and arrested a number of youths in the process. To justify their evil acts the police crafted a fake message lying that National Youth Taskforce leader, Takudzwa Ngadziore has called for demonstration.
Demonstrations yes, but they will come at our own planning. We demand for the immediate release of champions who were unjustifiably arrested for remembering our brothers and sisters who were butchered by the apartheid regime in South Africa.

Convicted Money Launderer Wicknell Chivayo Boasts of Connections with Drug Dealer and Claims to Have Poisoned President Mnangagwa in Leaked Audio.
– I’m a well feathered drug dealer.
– Planned Vice Presidency with Bushiri And Angel.
– The probability of Chivayo poisoning President Mnangagwa to weaken his decision-makingabilities.
– 2nd cluster of drugs and chemicals.
– 2nd cluster of drugs and chemicals.
By Investigations Reporter | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – June 16, 2024 | In a shocking turn of events, convicted money launderer Wicknell Chivayo has made headlines once again with his audacious claims and incriminating associations. Recently leaked audios have revealed Chivayo boasting about his connections and influence over President Emmerson Mnangagwa, sparking widespread concern and controversy.
Chivayo, who has been previously convicted for money laundering and other financial crimes, has a history of flaunting his dubious connections and wealth on social media. A recent Instagram post featured Chivayo with an array of firearms, captioned with a braggadocious claim about being a “gangstar” in various high-profile locations such as New York and the South of France. Another post on Twitter by a user named Prophet DrCde Prof Madzibaba Adamksi showcased Chivayo with convicted drug kingpin Glen Agliotti, captioned “Birds of the same feathers,” further cementing his self-styled gangster image.
Emmerson Mnangagwa brain attack simulated graphic
However, the most alarming revelation comes from the recently leaked audios, where Chivayo is heard declaring that he has “captured” President Mnangagwa. In the audios, Chivayo claims, “Ndakachiti Dziii!” implying that he has successfully ensnared the president. These audios have opened a pandora’s box of questions regarding the extent of Chivayo’s influence and the potential implications for Zimbabwe’s political landscape.
In light of these revelations, there is growing concern that President Mnangagwa’s decision-making abilities might have become sedated or intoxicated by Chivayo’s influence. The possibility that a convicted criminal could exert such control over the nation’s highest office raises serious questions about the integrity and independence of the president’s leadership. Speculations are rife that Chivayo could have drugged the president to weaken his decision-making capabilities, further intensifying the gravity of the situation.
The implications of Chivayo’s claims are profound, given his criminal background and the potential threat such influence poses to the integrity of the nation’s leadership. The audios suggest a level of manipulation and control over the president that, if true, could undermine the very foundation of Zimbabwe’s governance.
Political analysts and opposition leaders have called for an immediate and thorough investigation into Chivayo’s claims. They argue that such revelations, if left unchecked, could erode public trust in the presidency and the broader governmental institutions.
“This is a matter of national security and integrity. The president must address these allegations transparently,” said a leading opposition figure. “The public deserves to know the truth about these serious claims.”
President Mnangagwa’s office has yet to issue an official response to the leaked audios and Chivayo’s statements. However, sources within the government indicate that an internal review and investigation may be underway to ascertain the veracity of Chivayo’s claims and the potential security breaches they suggest.
Planned Vice Presidency with Bushiri And Angel.
Wicknell Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and criminal record, has publicly stated as far back as 2014 that he would one day be made Vice President of Zimbabwe. His ambitions seemed far-fetched at the time, but recent events and historical forecasts are painting a different picture.
In a 2015 article by the State Media’s Sunday Mail titled “Wicknell Turns to Prophets,” the future of African state power was eerily predicted, suggesting that the continent would see an increase in influence by so-called “fake prophets” and financial criminals. The article highlighted Chivayo’s close ties with prominent figures like Shepherd Bushiri and Uebert Angel, both of whom have since gained significant political and social influence in Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.
Shepherd Bushiri and Uebert Angel, two controversial prophets, have made headlines not only for their religious influence but also for their increasing sway over state affairs. Their predictions and the roles they have played in recent years are now being re-evaluated in light of Chivayo’s own rise and his ominous claims about his future in Zimbabwean politics.
A recently leaked audio recording has Chivayo boasting about his capture of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, using the phrase “Ndakachiti Dziii!”—implying he has ensnared the president. This, combined with his historical statements about becoming Vice President and his connections to powerful prophets, has led to speculation about the extent of his influence and his potential methods.
– The probability of Chivayo poisoning President Mnangagwa to weaken his decision-makingabilities…
The probability of Chivayo poisoning President Mnangagwa to weaken his decision-making abilities and position himself for political power is a disturbing but plausible scenario. Given his criminal background, past statements, and the strategic alliances he has formed, analysts are now considering the likelihood of such a plot.Adding to the intrigue are Chivayo’s ties to British money launderers, including Joseph Mhaka, and his role as a runner for these notorious convicts. His connections to international criminal networks further complicate the picture and raise concerns about the extent of his reach and influence.
The Sunday Mail article from 2015 foresaw a new age of state power dominated by dubious figures and foretold Chivayo’s rise. As these predictions come closer to reality, the public is left questioning the integrity of their leadership and the potential for manipulative power plays behind the scenes.
The implications of these revelations are profound, calling for an immediate and thorough investigation into Chivayo’s claims and actions. The potential threat to national security and the stability of Zimbabwe’s governance structure cannot be overstated.
While Chivayo was still to comment over these serious allegations and ZimEye’s questions remained unanswered at the time of writing, the following was a list of two large clusters of intoxicating drugs speculated.
### Dangerous Poisons That Could Be Used to Poison a Leader’s Brain Cells
In the context of concerns regarding the potential poisoning of a political leader to impair their decision-making abilities, it is important to be aware of specific dangerous substances that can affect brain function. In a bewildering display of contradictory rhetoric, Gilbert Kandiado, the husband of socialite Mai Titi, is on video delivering a series of statements that reveal a perplexing paradox within Zimbabwe’s political discourse. On one hand, Kandiado once made a shocking announcement on video, asserting that “ZANU PF will make people suffer for another 5 years,” a grim forecast that underscores a bleak reality of enduring hardships under the ruling party’s governance. This admission aligns with widespread public sentiment regarding ZANU PF’s controversial legacy of economic mismanagement and political repression.
However, in a perplexing twist, Kandiado subsequently pivoted to describe ZANU PF as “yellow honey,” a metaphor suggesting sweetness and benevolence. This sudden shift in tone raises serious questions about his credibility and motives. How can the same entity responsible for prolonged suffering also be likened to honey, a symbol of abundance and pleasure?
This dichotomy points to a deeper issue of opportunism and insincerity. By oscillating between starkly negative and overly positive portrayals of ZANU PF, Kandiado appears to be engaging in a form of political double-dealing, perhaps aimed at securing personal gain or favor within different factions of the political landscape. His statements serve to confuse rather than clarify, offering no genuine insight but rather highlighting the performative and often deceptive nature of political affiliations in Zimbabwe.
Such contradictory declarations underscore the broader problem of political opportunism, where individuals shift their allegiances and rhetoric to suit their immediate needs, often at the expense of truth and integrity. Kandiado’s dual statements reflect a troubling trend of exploiting political discourse for personal benefit, perpetuating a cycle of misinformation and disillusionment among the public.
In essence, Kandiado’s conflicting messages about ZANU PF encapsulate the paradox of Zimbabwean politics: a landscape where suffering is acknowledged but then swiftly glossed over with empty platitudes, revealing a facade of prosperity that masks deeper systemic issues. This duplicity not only undermines public trust but also perpetuates a fake narrative that hinders genuine progress and accountability.
By Dorrothy Moyo | Harare, Zimbabwe – The popular socialite and comedian Felistas Murata, widely known as Mai Titi, was on Sunday seen on a live Facebook video with her facial skin peeling and scaling off in three different colors. The distressing images, streamed on Sunday, have sparked widespread concern and outrage among her followers and the general public.
Murata, who has a substantial following on social media, was visibly distressed as she showed her damaged skin, attributing the severe reaction to the use of an unlicensed whitening cream called Feliglow. This product, which she had been promoting heavily, is now under scrutiny for its safety and legitimacy…
The incident follows closely on the heels of Murata’s deportation from Heathrow Airport in London, where she was intercepted while trying to import Feliglow creams. Authorities detained her after discovering that the product was unlicensed and falsely marketed as a treatment for eczema.
A screenprint from Murata’s page, Feliglow
**Advisory: Warning Against Unlicensed Whitening Creams**
In light of the alarming live video and the serious health risks demonstrated, an urgent advisory has been issued to warn the public about the dangers of using unlicensed and unregulated whitening creams like Feliglow. These products can contain harmful chemicals that pose significant health risks, including severe skin damage, potential carcinogenic effects, and other serious medical conditions.
Healthcare professionals and regulatory authorities emphasize the following points:
1. **Avoid Unlicensed Products**: Only use skincare products that are approved and regulated by recognized health authorities. Unlicensed creams can contain dangerous substances that are not safe for human use.
2. **Verify Claims**: Be skeptical of products making unrealistic claims, such as curing diseases without scientific evidence. Feliglow’s false claims about treating Alzheimer’s disease are a blatant example of fraudulent marketing.
3. **Consult Healthcare Providers**: Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new skincare treatment, especially those involving chemical agents.
4. **Report Suspicious Products**: If you encounter unlicensed or suspicious skincare products, report them to your local health authorities to prevent others from being harmed.
The incident involving Felistas Murata serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with unregulated cosmetic products. The public is urged to prioritize their health and safety by being vigilant and informed about the products they use.

By Correspondent- The government has announced plans to launch an online application platform for passports and national identity cards to address the backlog of applications.
Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe informed state media that the advanced online platform, set up by the Civil Registry Department (CRD), aims to streamline the process of accessing essential civic documents.
The platform is expected to be operational before the end of the year.
Next month, authorities will unveil the Zimbabwe Population Registry System (ZPRS), a central database for all Zimbabwean citizens’ demographic information.
The ZPRS will be a key component in operationalizing the online application platform for civic documents. Currently undergoing final testing, the ZPRS will hold citizens’ details such as names, dates of birth, and places of residence.
It will link various government departments, including hospitals, allowing for instant birth and death registrations, further enhancing efficiency.
To facilitate the digital migration, the CRD has secured high-tech equipment, including servers, in preparation for the rollout. Kazembe said, “The online passport application is expected to be working before the end of 2024. The Zimbabwe Population Registry System is in the testing phase for some modules, and the system is expected to be implemented at the beginning of July 2024. The Electronic Document and Records Management System is in its development stage and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.” Online passport application processes vary depending on the specific country’s system. Typically, an applicant visits the official website of the passport office or a designated online portal, creates an account by registering with personal details, and initiates a new passport application. This involves filling out electronic forms, uploading scanned copies of required documents, and making the application fee payment online. The platform also offers a tracking system to monitor the application status, and some systems allow for booking appointments for biometric data capture or document verification at a designated passport office. Applicants might be notified to collect their passport in person or have it delivered by mail upon approval.
This announcement comes as the government has completed setting up an e-passport center in Johannesburg, South Africa, one of five being established in foreign countries. Training of embassy staff responsible for issuing travel documents is nearly complete.
After South Africa, the government plans to open additional e-passport offices in the United Kingdom and the United States.
At least 14 e-passport offices have been set up countrywide, with more than 100,000 travel documents issued since the introduction of e-passports in January 2022.
E-passports are currently being processed at the Harare passport registry and provincial and district offices in Bulawayo, Gwanda, Gweru, Lupane, Marondera, Beitbridge, Chitungwiza, Hwange, Mazowe, Murewa, Zvishavane, Chinhoyi, and Guruve.
This year, the CRD aims to establish e-passport offices in Gokwe South district and Mutare.

In a statement released on Saturday, Mnangagwa’s jubilant tone underscored the significance he places on the bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and its southern neighbor.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Zimbabwe, it is my honour and privilege to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa on your re-election as President of South Africa,” Mnangagwa proclaimed. His words, laden with palpable excitement, reflected a personal admiration for Ramaphosa’s leadership and a clear desire to strengthen ties between the two nations.
The effusive statement continued, highlighting Mnangagwa’s eagerness to collaborate closely with Ramaphosa on regional and multilateral initiatives. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with you at the regional and multilateral levels, advancing our regional integration agenda and seeking solutions to global challenges,” Mnangagwa affirmed, closing with a patriotic hashtag: #SouthAfrica.
Observers noted Mnangagwa’s unusually exuberant demeanor, likening it to that of a child celebrating a personal victory.
His unabashed enthusiasm serves as a testament to the significance Zimbabwe places on its relationship with South Africa, a key ally in regional politics and economic cooperation.
Mnangagwa’s statement also underscores the broader implications of Ramaphosa’s reelection within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), where both leaders play pivotal roles in shaping regional policies and strategies.
The reaffirmation of their partnership signals continuity in diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering stability and prosperity across the region.
As Mnangagwa and Ramaphosa navigate the complex terrain of regional politics and economic challenges, their renewed commitment to collaboration bodes well for the future of Southern Africa.
Mnangagwa’s enthusiastic reaction to Ramaphosa’s reelection not only highlights the personal rapport between the two leaders but also sets a positive tone for bilateral relations in the years to come.
Mnangagwa’s heartfelt congratulations to Ramaphosa exemplify the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between Zimbabwe and South Africa, underscoring their shared commitment to advancing regional integration and addressing global issues.
Emmerson Mnangagwa, the astute leader of Zimbabwe’s Zanu PF party, has strategically positioned himself to extend his tenure beyond 2028.
Over the weekend, the Zanu PF Women’s League publicly implored Mnangagwa to continue leading the country, signaling a calculated manoeuvre to consolidate his authority.
Mnangagwa addressed members of the Women’s League in Harare at the weekend.
According to sources within Zanu PF, the Women’s League’s appeal for Mnangagwa to stay in power beyond 2028 is perceived as a deliberate strategy to maintain political stability and continuity.
“The Women’s League is advocating for ED to remain in office beyond 2028,” disclosed a source from Zanu PF on Saturday.
Mnangagwa’s shrewd political tactics and the Women’s League’s endorsement underscore a concerted effort to secure his prolonged leadership, ensuring continuity in governance amidst Zimbabwe’s evolving socio-political landscape.
By Political Reporter-The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has disclosed that at least 100 bodies are repatriated from South Africa to Zimbabwe each week through the Beitbridge Border Post.
This figure translates to approximately 400 bodies per month.
The revelation was made during a tour of the upgraded border post by journalists from Masvingo, Chiredzi, Zvishavane, and Beitbridge.
The tour followed a customs and excise training for journalists held at Flamboyant Hotel on June 10 and 11.
Port Health Officer Silibaziso Nkala addressed the journalists, noting that the causes of death varied, including chronic illnesses, accidents, gunshots, and knife stabbings.
“Here we clear the bodies of people who die in South Africa. We verify to ensure they are carrying bodies because people can resort to anything, including smuggling,” Nkala explained. “On average, we process around 100 deceased individuals passing through here weekly. The causes of death vary from chronic illnesses to accidents and violent incidents.”
Nkala expressed concerns about people attempting to smuggle goods along with their deceased relatives. “We also ensure that mourners do not mix dead bodies with other goods. Some try to smuggle items like fuel hidden in coffins and hearses. We usually catch them because we conduct thorough searches before allowing passage. We educate them on the dangers of smuggling goods and that they cannot pass without detection,” she said.
The port also processes the bodies of individuals entering South Africa from Zimbabwe, primarily truck drivers or their spouses who die in Zimbabwe or other countries and are transported to South Africa for burial.
Nkala noted that the facility operates 24/7, but most people prefer to cross on Fridays to bury their loved ones over the weekend.
Additionally, there are cases of children born in South Africa returning to Zimbabwe for the first time.
ZIMRA Beitbridge Regional Manager for Customs and Excise, Lonto Ndlovu, lamented the border’s porousness, which allows for significant smuggling activities since the border stretches for over 100 kilometers. “We cannot monitor all entry points, and people use illegal routes to smuggle goods in and out of the country,” Ndlovu said.
To combat this, ZIMRA has deployed drones capable of monitoring a 10-kilometer radius along the border.
Data from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) indicates that over a million Zimbabweans live in South Africa, many of whom entered the country illegally.
The high number of deaths has led to a rise in funeral insurance companies that specialize in transporting the deceased back to Zimbabwe.
By Crime and Court Reporter- Former Public Service Minister Prisca Mupfumira has been acquitted of the US$90 million National Social Security Authority (NSSA) fraud charges.
Mupfumira, who is also believed to be an intimate partner of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, was cleared following a full trial.
Mupfumira faced allegations of criminal abuse of office, accused of “corruptly” influencing a US$90 million property development deal between NSSA and Drawcard Enterprises.
However, Deputy Chief Magistrate Ngoni Nduna delivered a judgment on Saturday, acquitting her of all charges.
The allegations centered on claims that Mupfumira had handpicked Drawcard, a land development firm, without going to tender and pressured NSSA into entering an agreement with the company.
However, Nduna ruled that since Mupfumira never sat on the NSSA Board, she could not have been responsible for selecting Drawcard Enterprises.
In his ruling, Nduna stated, “Her cry that she may have been a mere victim is not far-fetched. The court comes to this conclusion because there is all the evidence, in black and white, that NSSA Board proceeded on its own resolution in the execution of the Mzenya Project, but the State persisted with her prosecution.”
The court found no evidence of meetings where Mupfumira was recorded forcing NSSA to engage Drawcard.
Additionally, Nduna noted that the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) provisions were superseded by a resolution from June 30, 2017, regarding the application on Offtake Housing Projects and the engagement of a developer.
He concluded, “The only conclusion to be arrived at is that NSSA did not go to tender because they resolved not to do so. The accused was not part of the deliberations where that resolution was arrived at.”
If PRAZ regulations had applied to the projects, it was the responsibility of NSSA’s legal advisors to inform the board.
Nduna highlighted that the legal service department at NSSA failed to properly advise the board, leading to the prosecution of Mupfumira based on the actions of others.
Represented by Admire Rubaya of Rubaya and Chatambudza Legal Practitioners, Mupfumira consistently denied the allegations, arguing that her prosecution was motivated by individuals opposed to her loyalty to President Mnangagwa during his tenure as vice president.
She maintained that the selection of Drawcard was the board’s responsibility, and the court agreed with her defense.
Mupfumira was jointly charged with NSSA director Barnabas Matongera, who was discharged at the close of the State’s case.
By Political Reporter- Vice President Kembo Mohadi Friday failed to finish his speech at an event held to donate laptops at Manama High School, Gwanda South, after he experienced a severe bout of coughing, forcing him to pause his speech and request water.
Throughout the event, he appeared pale and tired.
Despite his appearance, the 74-year-old Vice President dismissed rumours about his deteriorating health, asserting that he is fit but feeling the effects of old age.
“I am not sick, but I am getting old; that’s why I drink water a lot,” Mohadi stated. “Manama High School stands shoulder high to all other institutions in this country because it contributed immensely to the liberation struggle. It is very sentimental for us to be here, and it is equally depressing to see that some of the structures here need a lot of touch-up. I can’t…,” he said, trailing off.
Zanu PF Director of Information, Farai Marapira, expressed confidence in the health of the party’s leaders. “We are confident in all our leaders’ health. We are not worried about circulating rumors and are focused on the economy and our mandate to the people of Zimbabwe. We will not be moved by public opinion. This is being done by those who were elected but are not focused on their roles and want to tarnish our leaders. As Zanu PF, we remain focused on the economy,” he said.
An anonymous analyst, fearing reprisal, told The Mirror that Mohadi is ill but unlikely to resign due to his desire to maintain power and influence. “He will obviously not step down because that will be the end of his power and influence. He wants to hold on to his post in every way possible. He keeps a busy schedule when he should give his body ample time to recuperate and rest. What worries me the most is that youth are blindly following these ailing men and will rule when they are also old,” the analyst said.
Former CCC president Nelson Chamisa emphasized the importance of a culture of resting and retiring, rather than collapsing and dying in office.
Concerns about Mohadi’s health were heightened last October after he allegedly collapsed during the Gutu West parliamentary by-election launch, leading to security personnel forcing journalists to delete videos of the incident. Mohadi, who was campaigning for Zanu PF youth leader John Paradza, reportedly also collapsed at the University of Zimbabwe while delivering an Africa Day public lecture. He struggled to stand and had to complete the lecture seated.
The latest incident at Manama marks the third time Mohadi has publicly shown signs of ill health, leading to increasing scrutiny and debate about his condition.
The Curious Case of His Excellency: A Tale of Trust and Treachery
In a tale that seems to have leapt straight from the pages of a political thriller, His Excellency Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe, finds himself ensnared in a web of deceit spun by a gang of four highly trusted socialites. The Blue Dam River: DA
The DA, or “Dangerous Abyss,” is a perilous political landscape where many have lost their footing. It represents the culmination of backroom deals, broken trusts, and treacherous alliances. For Mnangagwa, being pushed into the DA means facing a political downfall orchestrated by those he once considered allies.
The Dramatic Conclusion
As the cartoon car nears the river’s edge, a dramatic twist ensues. Mnangagwa, ever the cunning tactician, unveils a plan of his own. Just as the car is about to plunge into the blue waters, he leaps out, leaving the gang to their watery fate. In a masterstroke of political acumen, he turns the tables, exposing their plot to the public and emerging stronger than before.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, underscored the pivotal role of the Women’s League within the ruling party during his address at the ZANU PF Women’s League National Assembly held at party headquarters in Harare.
Representatives from all ten provinces convened to review their performance and discuss key issues under the leadership’s guidance. President Mnangagwa highlighted the critical contribution of the Women’s League in fortifying the party’s foundation.
“To me, the Women’s League is the nerve centre of our party. You are the heart, liver, and blood in our body politic. Without women, the party cannot thrive. A political party becomes formidable when supported by women,” President Mnangagwa affirmed.
Acknowledging their pivotal role in the previous elections, President Mnangagwa commended the women for their efforts in mobilizing voters, which contributed to ZANU PF’s resounding victory.
“I want to express my gratitude for your role in the elections last year. Your unity, harmony, peace, and love during and after the elections were exemplary. If you have the support of women and youth in the party, victory is assured,” he added.
While stressing the importance of collective loyalty, President Mnangagwa emphasized the need for individual allegiance to the party and its leadership.
“Loyalty should not be merely collective but must start at an individual level. Your loyalty to the party should be personal, not just because you belong to a group,” he advised.
President Mnangagwa also urged unity among women, urging them to support each other in their respective roles within the party and to eschew divisive behaviors.
“There is no room in our party for negative traits like the ‘pull-him-down’ syndrome. We must unite and support one another,” he emphasized.
Encouraging the Women’s League to lead in developmental initiatives that enhance people’s livelihoods, President Mnangagwa reiterated their importance in advancing the party’s agenda and national progress.
By Dorrothy Moyo | Windhoek, Namibia — A growing outcry has emerged from countless parents detained indefinitely under the guise of “awaiting deportation” in Namibia, highlighting the severe distress and suffering of their children left behind.
Namibia, traditionally known for its welcoming stance, currently detains a significant number of Zimbabwean immigrants. These individuals, purportedly awaiting deportation, find themselves in indefinite detention, raising serious concerns about the humanitarian impact of such policies. The emotional toll on families, particularly on children separated from their parents, is profound.
Human rights advocates are urging Namibian authorities to consider the deep impact of these detentions. They argue that enforcing immigration laws should not come at the expense of human dignity and the welfare of vulnerable children. If deportation is deemed necessary, it should be carried out respectfully and safely, ensuring these individuals can return to Zimbabwe without undue hardship.
Immediate action is deemed essential to address this crisis. The prolonged detention and separation of families are causing significant emotional harm, especially among children who face uncertainty and instability. Advocates are calling for humane treatment and swift resolution to prevent further suffering.
The global community is being urged to join this advocacy effort. A petition has been launched to demand the humane treatment and release of the detained immigrants, aiming to reunite families and provide stability for the affected children.
Supporters of the petition believe that their signatures can help alleviate the suffering caused by these detentions and uphold the principles of human rights and compassion. This is a crucial moment for the international community to act and ensure that families are not torn apart by immigration policies.
By joining the advocacy, supporters can make a difference in reuniting children with their parents and securing a hopeful future for those impacted by this crisis.
The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services has called upon journalism educators to establish safe learning environments conducive to shaping the future conduct of students in newsrooms.
During the official launch of the Zimbabwe Journalism Educators Network (ZIJEN) in Masvingo, Mr. Nick Mangwana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, emphasized the crucial role of educational institutions in grooming professional journalists from the outset.
“Today marks the establishment of a network of journalism educators aimed at enhancing journalistic standards and bolstering citizens’ access to information rights across the nation.
However, we also urge educators to prioritize creating safe spaces for their students, and to condemn practices such as sexual harassment for academic advancement. Our goal is to nurture journalists who exhibit both moral integrity and professional excellence,” he stated.
By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — June 16, 2024 | The agricultural community of Zimbabwe is in shock following the tragic death of a well-known white farmer, Christopher Androliakos, who was found dead on June 13, 2024, at his home in Bulawayo. Androliakos, a key figure in the Zimbabwean beef industry through his company Heads and Hooves, was discovered by his domestic worker in what appears to be a case of suicide.
Police spokesman Inspector Abedinico Ncube provided details of the incident, explaining that Androliakos returned home on the evening of June 12, with his wife away in Harare and the family helper retired for the night. The following morning, at around 6 AM, the domestic worker began her daily duties but found the doors of the main house still locked. “She proceeded to the now deceased’s bedroom window and knocked, but there was no response,” Inspector Ncube stated in a press release.
After waiting for some time, the worker entered the house through the kitchen window, which is always left open to allow the cat to move freely. As she made her way to the main bedroom, she discovered Androliakos’ body hanging from the ceiling loft on a nylon rope. “The scene was devastating. This loss is deeply felt by the community,” Ncube added.
Androliakos was known for his significant contributions to the beef industry, supplying over 500 cattle annually. His company, Heads and Hooves, has been a crucial supplier for various butchers and customers across Zimbabwe.
**Historical Context and Economic Impact**
This tragic event comes in the shadow of Zimbabwe’s tumultuous land reform history, which has seen significant legal and economic repercussions over the past 24 years. The fast-track land reform program initiated in 2000 by then-President Robert Mugabe aimed to redistribute land from white commercial farmers to black Zimbabweans. However, this policy led to widespread dispossession and economic decline.
In 2000, Chief Justice Anthony Gubbay of the Zimbabwean Supreme Court declared the land reforms unconstitutional, citing that “the actions taken by the government violate property rights and the rule of law.” Despite this ruling, the government continued with the land seizures, leading to a sharp decline in agricultural productivity.
A landmark case, *Commercial Farmers Union v. Minister of Lands* (2005), saw the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) finding the Zimbabwean government guilty of breaching bilateral investment treaties. The tribunal ordered compensation for dispossessed farmers, but the ruling was largely ignored by the government. “The government’s blatant disregard for international law has left many of us destitute and the economy in ruins,” stated Ben Freeth, a former farmer whose family lost their land.
Economist John Robertson remarked on the broader impact: “The destruction of commercial agriculture was a self-inflicted wound from which Zimbabwe has yet to recover. The loss of skilled farmers, combined with a lack of support for new landowners, has resulted in widespread food insecurity and economic instability.”
From 2000 to 2008, Zimbabwe’s GDP contracted by nearly 50%, and hyperinflation peaked at an astronomical 89.7 sextillion percent in November 2008, according to the World Bank. The land reform program not only displaced thousands of experienced farmers but also led to significant violence. A 2019 report by the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum documented over 4,000 cases of violence against white farmers and their workers.
In recent years, efforts have been made to address past injustices, including a $3.5 billion compensation deal signed in 2020 for dispossessed farmers. However, many remain skeptical about its implementation. “This is a step in the right direction, but much more needs to be done to restore the rule of law and rebuild our economy,” said David Connolly, a farmers’ representative.
As Zimbabwe mourns the loss of Androliakos, his death underscores the lingering scars of the country’s land reform policies and the urgent need for genuine reconciliation and economic recovery.
