Mnangagwa In Secret Gimmick To Consolidate Power

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe grapples with mounting crises, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent manoeuvers to consolidate power have sparked concern among observers, who warn of a potential third term bid amidst political intrigue and factional rivalries within the ruling Zanu PF party.

In a move perceived as a bid to tighten his grip on authority, Mnangagwa convened a meeting with Zanu PF provincial youth chairpersons over the weekend. The gathering, ostensibly aimed at discussing party matters, is viewed by many as a calculated tactic to bolster his support base and assert dominance within the party hierarchy.

Observers suggest that Mnangagwa’s strategic engagements with party officials signify a broader agenda to prolong his tenure in office, potentially seeking a controversial third term.

Such a move would not only defy constitutional norms but also exacerbate existing tensions within the country’s political landscape.

“Emmerson Mnangagwa has already begun manoeuvers to gun for a third term of office,” remarked one observer, highlighting the president’s apparent ambitions to extend his rule beyond the confines of the current term limit.

Moreover, Mnangagwa’s efforts to consolidate power extend beyond mere political posturing.

Reports indicate a systematic purge of individuals perceived to be aligned with his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, who harbors presidential aspirations of his own.

By pruning elements sympathetic to Chiwenga within the party ranks, Mnangagwa seeks to eliminate potential challenges to his authority and solidify his position as the undisputed leader of Zanu PF.

A Zanu PF source shed light on Mnangagwa’s strategic maneuvering, stating, “Zanu PF Provincial Youth Chairpersons meets President and 1st Secretary of the Party Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa ahead of the planned Provincial Interdistricts.”

This gathering serves as a testament to Mnangagwa’s concerted efforts to shore up support at the grassroots level, crucial for maintaining control amidst growing discontent and dissent.

The implications of Mnangagwa’s power consolidation efforts are far-reaching, with ramifications for Zimbabwe’s democratic future and stability.

Critics warn that an unchecked extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency could further erode the country’s already fragile democratic institutions and exacerbate socio-economic challenges facing ordinary citizens.

As Zimbabwe navigates through a period of uncertainty and turmoil, Mnangagwa’s maneuvers to consolidate power underscore the delicate balance of power within the ruling party and the broader implications for the nation’s political trajectory.

Whether Mnangagwa’s bid for extended rule materializes remains to be seen, but the specter of a potential third term looms large, casting a shadow of uncertainty over Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Chivhayo Attacks Mukanya, Offers Him Car, House

Showbiz Reporter-Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo has publicly attacked Chimurenga legend Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo and extended an offer of a brand new car and a house to him.

The altercation arose after Mukanya voiced his opinion on Chivhayo’s recent spree of gifting expensive cars to celebrities, suggesting that the funds could be better utilised for social services.

Chivhayo’s initiative, suspected to be backed by the ruling ZANU PF party, involves lavishing celebrities with luxury vehicles, sparking widespread debate and speculation.

Taking to his social media platforms, Chivhayo declared his intention to purchase both a car and a house for the renowned Chimurenga musician, who currently resides in the United States.

The offer adds a new layer of controversy to Chivhayo’s philanthropic endeavours as criticisms mount regarding the source and motives behind his extravagant gestures.

As reactions continue to pour in, the clash between Chivhayo and Mukanya underscores deeper tensions within Zimbabwe’s social and political landscape.

Stay tuned for further developments as the story unfolds.

Teachers Announce A 3 Day Strike Over “US$20 Mockery”

By A Correspondent| Teachers under the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (FOZEU) have announced a three day job action following the National Joint Negotiation Committee (NJNC) which increased salaries of civil servants by US$20.

According to FOZEU, the job action will run from Wednesday 20 March to Friday 22 March.

“The nation is advised of a 3 day job action by teachers running from Wednesday 20 March to Friday 22 March. This is a response to the USD 20 mockery offered by employer as increment on 14 March 2024. Parents & guardians are advised to keep their Children at home for their safety,” said FOZEU.

Last week, NJNC met and agreed to increase salaries of civil servants by US$20, a move that angered the government workforce.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC led by Douglas Mwonzora has also condemned government for failing civil servants.

In a statement, MDC implored government to promote equitable distribution of wealth and protection of the vulnerable in society.

“We implore government to embrace policies rooted in social democracy, which prioritize the equitable distribution of wealth and the protection of the most marginalized members of society,” said MDC.

Chigumba Flies To Russia To Observe Polls

By A Correspondent

Amidst lingering controversy and accusations of electoral misconduct, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has drawn criticism for its recent decision to send a delegation, led by Chairperson Priscilla Chigumba, to observe Russia’s presidential elections.

The move has reignited debates over the integrity and credibility of ZEC, especially in light of allegations of rigging in Zimbabwe’s own elections in 2018 and 2023, purportedly favoring the ruling party Zanu PF and its leader Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The decision to dispatch a ZEC delegation to Moscow, Russia, as part of an election observer mission has sparked widespread skepticism both domestically and internationally.

Many have questioned the rationale behind entrusting an institution facing serious allegations of electoral manipulation with the responsibility of overseeing another nation’s democratic process.

Critics argue that ZEC’s involvement in the Russian elections undermines the legitimacy of the observer mission and casts doubt on the impartiality of its observations.

Given the cloud of controversy surrounding ZEC’s handling of past elections in Zimbabwe, concerns have been raised about the potential for biased assessments or politically motivated endorsements.

The timing of the delegation’s trip to Russia further complicates matters, as it comes at a time when ZEC is grappling with its own credibility crisis at home.

The decision to prioritize participation in an international observer mission, rather than addressing the allegations of electoral fraud and restoring public trust, has fueled frustration among Zimbabweans who are increasingly disillusioned with the electoral process. Moreover, ZEC’s actions risk tarnishing the reputation of election observation missions more broadly.

By allowing a commission mired in controversy to participate in such missions, there is a danger of undermining the legitimacy and effectiveness of international efforts to promote free and fair elections worldwide.

In light of these developments, calls for transparency and accountability within ZEC have grown louder.

Critics argue that meaningful electoral reforms are needed to restore faith in the democratic process and ensure that future elections in Zimbabwe are conducted in a credible and transparent manner.

Without addressing the underlying issues plaguing ZEC, the risk of further electoral malpractice and erosion of public trust looms large.

As the ZEC delegation continues its observation mission in Russia, the spotlight remains firmly fixed on the commission’s actions and its implications for both domestic and international electoral integrity.

The outcome of the Russian elections, and the role of ZEC in assessing their fairness, will undoubtedly shape future debates surrounding electoral governance and democracy in Zimbabwe and beyond.

Greatman Slams Sniper Storm

By A Correspondent

In a recent development, musician Greatman has indirectly criticized fellow artist Donald Chirisa, popularly known as Sniper Storm, for soliciting controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo to purchase him a car.

Notably, musicians affiliated with Zanu PF are reportedly reaping benefits from Chivayo’s spree of buying vehicles.

Greatman took to Facebook to express his sentiments, stating, “Ummmm guys, are we not doing too much here? Some things need to be done modestly.”

Meanwhile, Sniper Storm passionately appealed to Chivayo for assistance in acquiring a car through a heartfelt message:”

Hello @sir_wicknell, Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude for the significant contributions you have made in various initiatives, including those in Masowe and supporting Zanu PF through music and other endeavors.

I have observed that the situation is tough, but…With your words, you often say, ‘If you can, help those who work tirelessly.’

I have been diligently working alongside the Zanu PF party for many years, participating in National Galas, rallies, creating songs and jingles for events, and supporting various MPs and the President himself during elections.

My dedication remains unwavering.I am a true member of the party and have served with utmost loyalty.

Among comrades, there are those who have risen through the ranks alongside me, but I refrain from mentioning names.

Silence can sometimes be mistaken for complacency, but here I stand, witnessing how some loyal members suffer in silence and perish in neglect.

DeMbare Fans Blast Genesis Mangombe

Dynamos fans yesterday demanded for coach Genesis ‘Kaka’ Mangombe’s sacking as the Harare giants squandered a 2-goal lead to eventually settle for a share of the spoils with Hwange at Babourfields Stadium.

DeMbare yet to win a game this season.

The Harare giants lost the Castle Challenge Cup to defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars, before they were beaten by rivals Highlanders at Babourfields in their opening league match last week.

Dynamos fans, characteristically, are starting to lose patience with Mangombe.

They (DeMbare fans) sang songs demanding for Mangombe’s exit after the Hwange stalemate and the youthful coach admitted it’s understable.

“It’s a game of football, and we have to accept some of these things. As a coach, you know these guys need results. So, if they are not getting results they are disappointed and we allow them to do that,” Mangombe said in his post-match interview.

“When we are winning, they will sing Kaka is a good coach. So, what l need to do is to motivate my boys to do better in the next assignment. Maybe, in the third game, we are going to make it,” he added.

DeMbare face Yadah next and worryingly for Mangombe, the duo of Issa Sadiki and Tanaka Shandirwa —who are on loan from the Miracle Boys, will not play against their parent club.

Kwahi Amai VaWicknell Chivayo Vanga Varimu Beitbridge Accident?, Ayewa!

By Dorrothy Moyo | In the shadows of a sprawling urban landscape, where the lines between affluence and despair blur, the story of Wicknell Chivayo unfolds—a tale that bridges the chasm between unfettered opulence and heart-wrenching tragedy. Wicknell, a man whose name had become synonymous with extravagance and controversy, found his fortunes entwined with the fate of Beitbridge, a community perched on the edge of hope and despair.

Beitbridge, a place where the sun scorches the earth and the wind whispers tales of yore, was a town that thrived on dreams. Its heart, Beitbridge Hospital, stood as a beacon of hope, a sanctuary where the ailing sought solace and healing. Yet, the hospital’s lifeline, electricity, was as fragile as the flicker of a candle in the wind, a reality that became a crucible for tragedy.

Wicknell, once hailed as a savior, had been entrusted with a monumental task—to electrify the hospital, to banish the darkness with the light of progress. Millions had flowed through his hands, a torrent of promise and potential. But the light never came. Instead, the money vanished into the abyss of extravagance, a testament to human folly and greed.

It was on a day like any other that fate, with its cruel sense of irony, wove a tapestry of horror. A bus, carrying souls eager to traverse the distances between loved ones and dreams, met with catastrophe near Beitbridge. The accident was a maelstrom of steel and screams, a moment frozen in time where life hung in the balance.

As the wounded were rushed to the hospital, the reality of Wicknell’s actions came crashing down like a thunderbolt. The very institution that was meant to be a citadel of hope in such times of despair was crippled, its ability to save lives dimmed by the absence of electricity. Among the victims were whispers of a connection to Wicknell—relatives, perhaps, or acquaintances, bound by blood or fate to the man whose actions had cast a long shadow over their moment of need.

In the dimly lit corridors of Beitbridge Hospital, where the hum of generators filled the air with a desperate pulse, the truth lay bare. Wicknell, ensconced in his world of luxury, was haunted by the specters of his choices. The accident, a tragic tapestry of fate and consequence, served as a mirror reflecting the stark reality of his deeds.

As the community rallied around the victims, a collective resolve emerged from the ashes of tragedy. The incident became a catalyst for change, a clarion call that echoed across the plains of Beitbridge. For Wicknell, the road to redemption was steep, a journey fraught with the realization that his actions had consequences far beyond the glittering facade of wealth.

In the end, the story of Wicknell Chivayo and the Beitbridge bus accident serves as a somber reminder of the delicate balance between prosperity and responsibility. It is a tale that whispers the timeless truth that our actions are like stones thrown into a pond, their ripples touching shores unseen, in ways we can scarcely imagine.

Chamisa Spotted In Chivi

By Staff Reporter- Charismatic opposition leader Nelson Chamisa this weekend attended the funeral of senior citizen Mbuya Petronella Mukwende in Chivi.

Posting on his X account Sunday, Chamisa said:

Chitungwiza Corruption Scandal: Town Bosses Caught in Unsolicited Home Visit

By A Correspondent | Chitungwiza has been rocked by fresh allegations of corruption following an unsolicited visit to a citizen’s home by town council officials currently under investigation. The incident, which took place on March 16, 2024, has sparked outrage and prompted urgent calls for clarity and justice from the local community.

A concerned resident of Chitungwiza, in a detailed letter addressed to the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing and copied to several key oversight bodies, recounted the unsettling experience. “Pursuant to my letter of complaint against the above named Chitungwiza Town Council official and four others dated 04/03/2024…I would like to express my utmost displeasure on the conduct of the aforementioned members who came to my place of residence this date 16/03/2024 without prior notice,” the letter begins, setting the stage for a troubling narrative.

The officials, led by Mr. Tangwa and accompanied by six others, reportedly arrived in a white, single cab vehicle registered to the Chitungwiza Municipality. The homeowner described the group’s approach as highly irregular, noting their failure to identify themselves or explain their presence. “These officials did not identify themselves and neither did they state their purpose of the visit to my place of residence let alone even greeting my 75-year-old mother who is a senior citizen and the owner of the premises showing utmost disrespect towards her.”

Further exacerbating concerns, the letter alleges that the officials discussed tampering with evidence related to their investigation in front of the household, blatantly disregarding the law and the ongoing inquiry into their conduct. The visit also included unauthorised repair work on water pipes, raising questions about the officials’ motives and the legitimacy of their activities.

The homeowner’s letter poses critical questions to the authorities, including whether officials under investigation are permitted to continue their duties, the appropriateness of their working outside normal hours on non-urgent tasks, and the protocol surrounding the use of municipal vehicles for such visits. “I don’t believe that these officials are working in earnest since my personal rights, family rights, and property rights have been infringed by these officials as the matter is still under investigation,” the letter states, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

This alarming episode has underscored the need for transparency and accountability within the Chitungwiza Town Council. The community awaits answers and actions from the relevant authorities, hoping this will mark a turning point towards restoring trust and integrity in local governance. As the investigation proceeds, the eyes of Chitungwiza and beyond remain fixed on the unfolding developments, with many demanding expedited efforts to bring the matter to a close and ensure such breaches of trust are not repeated.

Dumped Bulawayo Man Petrol-Bombs Girlfriend’s House

By State Media- An angry Bulawayo man has petrol-bombed his ex-lover’s lodgings after his girlfriend dumped him.

The incident occurred this weekend when screams woke up the landlord, Mr Clifford Nyathi, as his house was going down in flames after his tenant, Ms Sikhangezile Moyo’s former lover, only identified as Albert, had started a fire. Mr Nyathi told Sunday News that they suspected that Albert was irked by the termination of his relationship with Ms Moyo.

“This morning (Saturday) at around 4.30am to 5am, I was awakened by the screams of two women who are my tenants, a mother and her daughter. They said there was fire at their door and the smoke had engulfed the place. The fire was coming from outside and as we attempted to pour water to put out the fire, it only got worse.

“Albert who had started the fire outside, kept on pouring a certain liquid, which we believe was fuel, possibly petrol. We did not know who it was until Ms Moyo peeped through the window and saw that it was his ex-lover,” he said.

He said Albert had used plastics and clothes that he took from a neighbour’s house, as well as theirs that were on the washing line outside and set them on fire on his door.

Mr Nyathi said they believe the motive of Albert’s action was to try and make those in the house respond and open the door for him.

“We did not open the door and that is why he ended up throwing it just in front of the door. From what he left behind, I have evidence that it was some kind of petrol bomb as I picked it up from where he threw it, it did not burn completely,” he said.

Mr Nyathi said the fire was successfully extinguished by neighbours, who quickly responded to the scene as the screams continued.

Mr Nyathi, said Albert had previous violent incidents with Ms Moyo, while earlier this month he vandalised his property, breaking windows and doors as well as trying to violently attack his tenant with a machete.

“Albert has a criminal history, as he has been incarcerated multiple times, serving a five-year sentence for cattle rustling in the rural areas. We reported the matter to the police, however, his whereabouts are unknown as he ran away when the neighbours came to intervene,” he said.

He said he made a report to the police although they could not be reached for a comment.

Food Shortages Loom As Manufacturers Demand US Dollar

By Business Reporter- The country is risking a serious shortage of basic commodities as manufacturers and wholesalers are demanding the United States dollar.

The failure by retailers to procure in local currency comes as the Zim dollar has experienced a sharp depreciation against the US$ amid calls for the full dollarisation of the economy.
Retailers told NewsDay that they had gone for weeks without the supply of locally produced basic commodities and warned of critical shortages of some products such as sugar.
Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers president Denford Mutashu said the supply chain of basic commodities had dollarised, leaving retailers who buy in local currency in a lurch.
“The biggest challenge is the currency that one uses to source products at procurement level,” Mutashu said.
“Manufacturers do not want the local currency. Generally, the appetite for the US$ in the market is high.
“The supply chain is 90% dollarised, and for the formal stores, it becomes very difficult because they are the only ones that are still selling to the customers in local currency.
“So, with a huge local currency balance, running a retail business under this current environment is difficult.”
As of yesterday, the Zimdollar was trading at 1:17 830 against the United States dollar at the interbank market and 1:18 500 in supermarkets, while it stood at 1:20 000 on the parallel market.
American economics professor Steve Hanke on Wednesday said Zimbabwe’s year-on-year inflation stood at 1 630%, the world’s highest.
Yet authorities claim that they have ticked all the boxes to contain annual inflation, which according to official statistics was 47,62% in February.
As the Zimdollar continues depreciating, the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) has also failed to calculate the price of the family food basket for the month of February in local currency due to regular price increases of basics and services.
“Manufacturers also indicate that most of their suppliers for raw materials or services are demanding payment in US$ and that is why they demand US$ when they sell their products,” Mutashu said.
“It’s a glitch that is happening. That is why most formal retailing shops are failing to stock up. Those products are in the informal market.”
Mutashu said he had a meeting with business owners from the wholesale industry who had indicated that it was no longer viable to continue operating under the current environment.
“Most suppliers are not giving products to those that have complied with the new Finance legislation which requires the supplier and the retailers to use QR codes for the purposes of tracking tax evaders,” he said.
“Most suppliers are not complying, so they prefer to supply to the informal market. The cost of shop licences has also gone up by over 300% in US$.
“Employees are also demanding salaries in US$, so the environment is just volatile.”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa re-introduced the local currency in 2019 after a decade of dollarisation.
There are growing calls to redollarise as the local currency continues on a free-fall, pushing up the prices of basics and services as businesses and service providers seek to hedge against losses.
The International Monetary Fund says the local currency has depreciated by 95% since January this year.
However, the CCZ said prices of goods and services had gone down in US$ terms as operators were offering discounts to encourage foreign currency transactions.
“As measured by the CCZ’s low income urban earner monthly basket for a family of six, the cost of living as measured in US$ decreased by 1% from US$551,38 to US$544,71,” CCZ director corporate affairs Philemon Chereni said.
“One of the reasons to explain why the basket remained fairly stable and only decreased marginally by 1% is because of the discounting enjoyed when the product was paid in US$.
“In addition, observation revealed that prices in US$ are insignificantly impacted by the movement of the local exchange rate.”
CCZ also said the price of mealie meal was generally high owing to the El Niño-induced drought.
“Mealie meal prices remain stable, but at a higher price because of the demand for the product as households anticipate shortages due to drought,” Chereni said.
“It is also vital to note that prices of most of the basic commodities went down in US$ because of the natural price adjustment towards equilibrium which was observed during the month of February 2024 when suppliers had increased their prices sharply after the pronouncement of the national budget in anticipation of commodity shortage in the market, which, however, did not happen.”

Mnangagwa Replaces Military Boss Soon After Vic Falls Bomb Scare Incident

THE new Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) Air Marshal Jacob John Nzvede officially assumed his duties this Friday with a pledge to keep the AFZ wings above the sky.

Air Marshal Nzvede officially assumed his duties after the retirement of Air Marshal Elson Moyo early this month.

Soon after the conferment of the new badge to Air Marshal Nzvede at ZDF Headquarters in Harare, the delegation proceeded to Manyame AFZ base parade square for the handover-takeover of Command.

In his speech, outgoing AFZ Commander Air Marshal Elson Moyo called for the AFZ to embrace continuity.

In his acceptance speech, the incoming AFZ Commander Air Marshal Nzvede pledged to continue supporting the national Vision.

“As I take Command of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, I am cognisant that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces has set in motion a development agenda, the National Development Strategy One (NDS1), which is set to improve the status of the nation to become an upper-middle income economy by the year 2030. Realising that, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces has a role to play in the attainment of this Vision, the President has prioritised the modernisation of the Forces.

“To this end, I unreservedly pledge my commitment to ensure that the Air Force of Zimbabwe will continue to play its part, under the wise leadership of the Commander Zimbabwe Defence Force, in creating a peaceful environment that is conducive for the attainment of the nation’s development goals.”

Chief witnessing officer and Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Philip Valerio Sibanda implored the incoming Commander AFZ to work hard for the good of the nation.

“We want to thank Air Marshal Elson Moyo for modernising the AFZ and we are calling for the new Commander to maintain continuity.”

The Air Force of Zimbabwe is also contributing towards the attainment of Vision 2030 by joining hands with other security apparatus to curb illegal activities at the country’s ports of entry.

Mnangagwa’s US$20 Salary Increment Is Meaningless, Says Teachers

Teachers have rejected the meagre 6,66% cost of living adjustment which was proposed by the government, saying they want a meaningful salary increment.

Government increased the current US$300 cost of living adjustment by US$20 to US$320, a figure which was deemed insufficient and out of touch with the economic realities facing educators.

Progressive Teacher’s Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe accused the government of disregarding the harsh realities faced by teachers.

“We want to make it clear that the above figures are meaningless and far from our expectations. Government had turned a blind eye to the realities on the ground. Teachers are suffering because of poor salaries. As if that is enough, the government introduced and continues to put punitive taxes which further erode the meagre salaries of teachers, yet the government is offering pathetic salary adjustments,” Majongwe said.

“As PTUZ, we want to send a clear message to the government and President Emmerson Mnangagwa that the second republic is yet to fulfil its promises to workers in general and teachers in particular. The Leaving No One behind mantra seems to refer to others not workers/teachers because they were left behind since October 2018 and continue to trail since then.”

Majongwe also revealed that teachers are receiving notifications from funeral assurance service providers indicating that their salaries in local currency are no longer adequate to cover deductions.

In a letter dated March 14, Zimbabwe Teachers Association national secretary-general Goodwill Taderera denounced the hurried nature of the meeting unions had with government representatives and the lack of opportunity for meaningful discussion.

“This meeting was hastily convened and there was no room to discuss positions. It closed out a deep analysis of the economic experiences by workers. As a result of the lack of accommodation of workers’ views and the paltry awards, the workers team refused to accept the offer but allowed the employer to pay un-agreed figures,” Taderera said.

Mnangagwa Takes Over Pulpit

By A Correspondent

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa and General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga made a notable appearance at the Kuwadzana Methodist Church in Harare, sparking both admiration and concern among Zimbabweans.

The visit, initially framed as an inspection of the church’s construction progress, quickly evolved into a platform for political messaging, raising questions about the intersection of religion and state in Zimbabwe.

During the visit, Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of peace, love, and unity, echoing sentiments often heard from pulpits across the nation.

He urged churches to continue preaching these values for the betterment of society, a message seemingly in line with traditional religious teachings.

However, the optics of political leaders seizing the pulpit for their agenda cannot be ignored.

By intertwining political rhetoric with religious discourse, Mnangagwa and Chiwenga risk blurring the lines between the sacred and the secular, transforming a place of worship into a stage for political posturing.

The pledge by Chiwenga to assist in the church’s construction further blurs this distinction, raising concerns about potential quid pro quo arrangements between the government and religious institutions.

While collaboration between the state and religious organizations can be beneficial, it must be approached with caution to preserve the autonomy and integrity of both parties.

The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe presiding Bishop, Reverend George Mawire, expressed gratitude for government assistance in the church’s construction.

While acknowledging the support, it’s essential to ensure that such partnerships do not compromise the church’s independence or lead to undue influence on its teachings and activities.

Moreover, the reminder to respect one another for nation-building underscores the delicate balance required in navigating the relationship between church and state.

While mutual respect and collaboration are essential, it’s imperative to uphold the principles of secularism and religious freedom enshrined in Zimbabwe’s constitution.

The Kuwadzana Methodist Church visit serves as a microcosm of the broader debate surrounding the role of religion in politics and governance.

While faith-based organizations can play a pivotal role in promoting social cohesion and addressing societal challenges, their involvement in partisan politics risks undermining their credibility and moral authority.

As Zimbabwe continues its journey towards democracy and development, it’s crucial for both political leaders and religious institutions to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and separation of church and state.

Only by respecting the distinct roles of each entity can Zimbabwe achieve the inclusive and pluralistic society envisioned by its citizens.

Greatman Mocks Sniper Storm…

Wicknell, Java, Ambulance Accident, ZANU PF Insult

Who on earth built this lump of bricks of a bridge, Wicknell, Scott or is it Java?

By Dorrothy Moyo | A bridge, recently exposed by the ZimEye news network, became the scene of an accident involving an ambulance from Holy Cross Mission Hospital. This incident has sparked a whirlwind of questions and criticism, with the construction of the bridge itself at the center of the controversy. The bridge, criticized for its rudimentary architecture, has drawn ire for seeming to mock the advancements of human civilization that date back thousands of years.

-A Question of Responsibility.

graphic

At the heart of the matter is the identity of the architect behind what has now been dubbed the “lump of bricks” bridge. Names such as Wicknel, Scott, and Java have been tossed around in a frenzied game of blame and speculation. Yet, no clear answers have emerged. The bridge’s design, which has been lambasted for its apparent disregard for modern engineering standards, raises significant concerns about the oversight and execution of public infrastructure projects.

-A Harrowing Incident

The event took an alarming turn when an ambulance, en route to an emergency, found itself stranded against the bridge’s walling. The driver, identified as Philip Machekano, has come under fire amid allegations of drunken driving. These accusations add a layer of complexity to an already fraught situation, intertwining issues of individual accountability with broader systemic failures.

-Political Underpinnings.

Complicating the matter is the bridge’s association with the ruling Zanu PF party, which has led to rampant speculation about the politicization of public works projects. Critics argue that the mishandling and misallocation of resources evident in the bridge’s construction reflect deeper issues within the country’s governance. The involvement of a political entity in such a project has ignited debates on the quality and integrity of infrastructure developments under its auspices.

-Public Outcry and Demands for Action.

The images of the stranded ambulance at the poorly constructed bridge have become a symbol of the urgent need for accountability and change. Public outrage has been palpable, with citizens demanding answers and action from those responsible for the debacle. The incident has not only highlighted the dangers posed by substandard infrastructure but also the potential for negligence to result in life-threatening situations.

As investigations continue, the country waits for clarity on the circumstances that led to this regrettable event. The call for transparent inquiry and accountability is stronger than ever, with the hope that such incidents can be prevented in the future through rigorous standards and responsible governance.

Basic Commodities Disappear From Shops

By Business Reporter- Retailers have said they were struggling to restock locally produced goods using the local unit as manufacturers and wholesalers are demanding the United States dollar.

Zanu PF ‘Kills’ Bikita Top Council Official

By Staff Reporter- Zanu PF is accused of causing the death of the late Bikita Chief Executive Officer, Peter Chibhi, who committed suicide last Monday.

Masvingo Mirror reports that the last Chibhi took poison straight after attending a Zanu PF kangaroo court where he was promptly summoned to answer certain questions on Saturday.

Questions asked include why the council sold stands on a Zanu PF Heroes’ Acre and at the Zanu PF Women’s League Hall at Nyika Growth Point.

He was also questioned on Hanyani, a private company which Chibhi and the finance director allegedly formed to do business with the council.

There was reference to a negative council audit report during the meeting which is the current basis of an investigation against senior council officials.

Chibhi left the meeting held at the council boardroom at Nyika Growth Point in a huff and bought a bottle of poison on his way home. He left the receipt on a table at home and went to another house he was building nearby and drank the poison, according to sources close to the family.

The Mirror established that Chibhi was called to the meeting at around 12 pm by Kudakwashe Gopo, the Zanu PF district political commissar and he turned up. The meeting ended around 3 pm.

Gopo confirmed calling and summoning Chibhi to the meeting.
“Yes I am the one who called him to the meeting and he attended. I however cannot comment on any other issues because I am not allowed to by the party,” he told The Mirror.

Present at the meeting were party bigwigs like former Army general Englebert Rugeje, Bikita East MP Court Zevezanai, former Education Minister Gabriel Machinga, Senator Anna Rungani, Central Committee member Univester Mukwena and Provincial member Simon Muchafa.
Four chiefs were present at the meeting and they are Marozva, Budzi, Mabika and Ziki. Bikita RDC chairperson Thomas Mataga and five council committee chairpersons were also present.
Rt Lt General Rugeje did not answer his phone most of the day yesterday.
It is not clear what authority Zanu PF has to summon and question a CEO of a local authority whose line of reporting is through councillors and the Ministry of Local Government. The meeting buttresses allegations of a Government Policy which directs local authorities to report to Zanu PF.
The DCC chairperson, Chamunorwa Taruona however insisted that the suicide could be for personal reasons. He said the meeting with Chibhi was cordial and at no time was he harassed.
“The meeting went on quite well. No one harassed him. We wanted him to clarify some grey areas. After the meeting, we went home. No one thought he would take his life. I think he had his problems at home,” said Taruona.
Mataga said the meeting even pledged to support Chibhi during the difficult time that he was being investigated for corruption.
“I didn’t think he would take his life. We even told him that we were behind him and all his problems were under control. We supported him,” said Mataga.
After noticing a receipt on the table, Chibhi’s wife allegedly became suspicious and followed him to the new house. She allegedly found him writhing in agony and took him to Silveira Hospital.
Chibhi was transferred from Silveira to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he passed on around 3 am on Monday.
His burial is taking place today.
In 2021 Local Government Ministry Permanent Secretary Zvinechimwe Churu ordered Bikita RDC to stop the allocation of land belonging to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
This was after the then PSC Secretary Jonathan Wutawunashe wrote to the Ministry objecting to the council’s move to parcel out land belonging to the civil servants’ body. PSC accused Bikita RDC of encroaching on its land and turning it into commercial stands.

Shocking Details On Beitbridge Horror Crash

By A Correspondent | People Who witnessed the head-on collision of two buses in Beitbridge early today say one of the buses was running away from a car of Ferets, a group known for its terror activities.

In the early hours of Saturday, a devastating head-on collision occurred at Chicago in Beitbridge, marking a dark start to the day for the region.

The accident involved a Citi Bus originating from Johannesburg and a Blue Circle bus coming from Harare, colliding head-on under unclear and troubling circumstances at Chigaco Village after the railway line.

Parked at Puma Service Station… the pickup truck whose drivers are accused of causing the accident
Preliminary reports suggest that the crash was preceded by a high-speed chase involving a white Nissan truck, allegedly carrying members of the Feret, a group known for its terror activities.

This detail adds a layer of complexity and concern to the already tragic incident, hinting at possible targeted aggression leading to the accident.

Despite these reports, footage obtained by the ZimEye news network does not show the white Nissan in the vicinity of the crash.

The video clip, however, paints a harrowing picture of the aftermath, with victims visibly scattered across the crash site, indicating the severe impact of the collision.

A source near the scene told ZimEye that more than 10 died, and several were injured.

Authorities and emergency services were quick to respond, with multiple victims receiving urgent medical attention.

The extent of the injuries and the total number of casualties are still being determined as rescue efforts continue.

In the wake of this tragic event, officials are urging anyone with relatives who may have been aboard either bus to make immediate contact with their loved ones.

The situation has sparked widespread concern, with families and friends anxiously awaiting news of those involved.

This incident has shaken the community and raised serious questions about the circumstances leading up to the crash. With investigations ongoing, many are calling for thorough scrutiny into the involvement of the Feret group (condemned by the regional body, SADC during the 2023 elections) and the actions leading to this catastrophic event.

A comment from the Deputy Director General of the CIO who heads the accused ferrets could not be ontained at the time of writing.

“But what is difficult to understand is that they (the government) announced recently that the border has been erected and now that there is security there.

But what is the reason of the ferrets chasing down buses on either side of the border after those vehicles we’ll have gone through the very same security?
“What are the fereets doing there and what is their purpose?,” asked one unidentified complaining Zimbabwean on an audio message.

As this story develops, more details are expected to emerge regarding the cause of the collision and the condition of those affected.

The community holds its breath for updates, hoping for the safety of all involved.

Mbeki Throws Zuma Under The Bus

South Africa- Former President Thabo Mbeki has attacked his successor, Jacob Zuma, and accused him of destroying the country’s democracy.

Zuma recently dumped the African National Congress (ANC), his home for over six decades, and formed another party, Umkonto weSizwe (MK).

Speaking at the annual lecture at the University of South Africa (Unisa) on Wednesday night, Mbeki condemned the MK party’s leadership, asserting that it comprised individuals previously involved in undermining the South African Revenue Services (Sars).

Mbeki also took aim at his former deputy president for making contradictory statements regarding the MKP.

Zuma had announced his intention to contest elections and support the MKP while distancing himself from the “ANC of Ramaphosa,” though he maintained his membership in the African National Congress (ANC).

The ANC’s position has been that Zuma effectively expelled himself from the party.

Mbeki denounced this stance as contradictory, asserting that one cannot simultaneously be a member of the ANC and actively campaign against it.

He criticised Zuma’s position, stating it lacked coherence and reasoning.

Discussing the MK party further, Mbeki highlighted its leadership’s association with previous attempts to destabilise Sars.

He emphasised that understanding the motives behind such breakaways necessitated recognising the continuity of individuals involved in disruptive actions.

Earlier on the same day, the MK party’s youth league declared Zuma as their presidential candidate during a media briefing in Johannesburg.

They issued ultimatums, threatening to disrupt upcoming elections if Zuma and the MKP were not permitted on the ballot.

The electoral process has already commenced, with political parties submitting their candidate lists to the Electoral Commission (IEC).

Objections to certain candidates on the lists are anticipated, and the dispute between the ANC and MKP over the use of the name uMkhonto weSizwe will be adjudicated by the Electoral Court next week, following the ANC’s application regarding the trademark of MK.

Musician Sniper Storm Declares Loyalty To Zanu PF In Bid To Get Chivayo Car

Wicknell Chivayo Mum As Beitbridge Hospital Without A Single Paracetamol Tablet After Horror Bus Accident

Updated Report: Beitbridge Hospital Crisis Amidst Chivayo’s Lavish Giveaways to Celebrities

By Farai D Hove | Beitbridge – In a stark revelation that has shocked the local community, Beitbridge Hospital was found to be without essential medical supplies, including basic medications like paracetamol, early Saturday morning. This dire situation was brought to light as relatives of patients visited the institution, only to discover the hospital’s inability to provide even the most rudimentary care.

This alarming development comes in sharp contrast to the recent news of convicted money launderer, Wicknell Chivayo, flamboyantly gifting cars to prominent Zimbabwean celebrities. Among the beneficiaries of Chivayo’s generosity are sungura maestro Alick Macheso and dancehall artist Seh Calaz, who received vehicles as part of what Chivayo describes as his effort to empower the community.

The juxtaposition of Chivayo’s high-profile giveaways with the critical shortages at Beitbridge Hospital has sparked outrage and debate over the priorities and distribution of wealth within the community. While Chivayo claims to be aiding community empowerment through his gifts to celebrities, the hospital’s lack of basic medical supplies paints a grim picture of neglect and misallocation of resources.

A witness shared their firsthand experience with ZimEye, expressing distress over the conditions at the hospital: “Dear Editor. I’ve been to the hospital; there is no medication, not even painkillers. It’s a pitiful case. There are also many police uniformed and uniformed cops inside.”

The presence of a significant police force within the hospital further complicates the situation, raising questions about the priorities of local authorities amidst the healthcare crisis.

The community of Beitbridge now finds itself grappling with the reality of a healthcare system in desperate need of support, juxtaposed against the backdrop of conspicuous spending by individuals like Chivayo. As this story unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the disparities that exist within the fabric of society and the urgent need for real, impactful community empowerment that goes beyond the superficial gifting of luxury items.

ZBC Evicts Ex-Workers

By Staff Reporter- The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has given 90 days to its former employees to vacate apartments where they have resided for decades.

The ownership of these apartments is currently in a legal dispute.

The ex-employees assert that they purchased the units through a credit scheme back in the 1990s. The matter is still pending before the courts.

In a letter seen by NewsDay, ZBC’s investment executive, James Chiwera, communicated to the occupants that they must vacate the premises. He said:

Please be advised that the ZBC will be embarking on extensive renovations of the Hatley House in line with the corporate strategy as well as to comply with the City of Harare’s public health bylaws.

As a result, the contractor will be commencing exterior works effective January 29, 2024. You are given 90 days notice period to vacate the premises.

One of the former ZBC employees told NewsDay that they believe the courts will rule in their favour. He said:

For decades, these haven’t just been flats, they have been our homes.

Many of us have raised our families here and built our lives within these walls.

We are more than happy to cooperate with reasonable upgrades.

But surely, alternative solutions can be found without pushing families onto the street, especially during a housing crisis.

In an affidavit, Onias Gumbo, the former ZBC director of marketing, administration, and finance, revealed his pivotal role in creating an employee credit union.

He said that under this scheme, each employee made monthly contributions to collectively purchase properties of the flat.

According to Gumbo, some of the properties acquired in Harare include Copper Queen, Dick King Didsbury, Sendton Court, and the contested Hatley House.

Mnangagwa, Chiwenga Seize Methodist Pulpit

However, with this abundance comes the challenge of selecting the right platform that guarantees security, fairness, and an enjoyable gaming experience. This guide aims to assist South African gamblers in navigating the online casino landscape to find the top platforms tailored to their preferences and needs.

Understanding the Legal Framework

While the National Gambling Act of 2004 prohibits local online casinos in South Africa, it does not restrict players from accessing offshore gambling sites. This legal framework allows South African gamblers to explore international online casinos legally. However, it’s essential to verify the legality of online gambling in your specific region within South Africa as regulations may vary.

Licensing and Regulation

Choosing a licensed and regulated online casino is crucial for ensuring a safe and fair gaming experience. Regulatory bodies such as the Malta Gaming Authority, the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, and the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority impose strict standards on casinos regarding security, fairness, and responsible gaming practices. Before registering with a casino, South African players should verify its licensing credentials and regulatory compliance.

Game Selection and Software Providers

The diversity and quality of games offered by an online casino play a significant role in player satisfaction. Leading software providers like Microgaming, NetEnt, and Playtech are renowned for their innovative and high-quality games. South African players should prioritize casinos that offer a wide range of games, including popular slots, table games like blackjack and roulette, video poker, and live dealer games. Additionally, they should ensure that the software providers are reputable and regularly audited for fairness by independent testing agencies like eCOGRA or iTech Labs.

Payment Methods and Currency Support

Convenient and secure banking options are essential for South African players when choosing an online casino. Casinos should support a variety of payment methods, including credit/debit cards, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller, bank transfers, and cryptocurrency. It’s also crucial that casinos facilitate transactions in South African Rand (ZAR) to avoid currency conversion fees and complications associated with using foreign currencies.

Bonuses and Promotions

While bonuses and promotions can enhance the gaming experience, it’s essential to understand the terms and conditions attached to them. ” South African players should look for one pound deposit casino, free spins, reload bonuses, and loyalty programs. However, they should carefully review the wagering requirements, maximum withdrawal limits, and game restrictions associated with these bonuses to make informed decisions.

Security and Fairness

Ensuring the security and fairness of the gaming environment is paramount for South African players. Reputable casinos employ advanced security measures such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to protect players’ sensitive information and financial transactions. Additionally, they use certified Random Number Generators (RNGs) to ensure fair outcomes in games, providing players with a genuine chance of winning.

Customer Support

Responsive and knowledgeable customer support is essential for addressing players’ concerns and inquiries effectively. South African players should choose casinos that offer multiple channels of communication, including live chat, email, and telephone support. Furthermore, they should consider the availability of customer support services, ensuring assistance is accessible 24/7 to accommodate different time zones and player needs.

Mobile Compatibility

With the increasing popularity of mobile gaming, South African players should prioritize casinos that offer seamless mobile compatibility. Top online casinos provide mobile-responsive websites or dedicated apps that allow players to enjoy their favorite games on smartphones and tablets. Mobile gaming offers convenience and flexibility, allowing players to gamble anytime, anywhere, without being tied to a desktop computer.

VIP Programs

VIP programs play a crucial role in rewarding loyal players and enhancing their gaming experience. South African players who frequent online casinos should consider platforms that offer comprehensive VIP programs tailored to their needs. These programs typically offer exclusive perks such as personalized customer support, higher deposit and withdrawal limits, faster withdrawal times, access to VIP-only events and tournaments, special gifts and bonuses, and even luxury rewards such as vacations or electronics. By participating in VIP programs, players can enjoy additional incentives and benefits while maximizing their overall gambling experience.

Responsible Gambling

South African players should prioritize casinos that promote responsible gambling initiatives and provide resources to support players in making informed decisions about their gambling habits. Reputable casinos offer features such as self-exclusion options, deposit limits, session time limits, and access to responsible gambling tools and support organizations. Additionally, they provide educational resources about the risks associated with gambling and encourage players to gamble responsibly.

It’s crucial for South African players to monitor their gambling behavior and seek help if they feel that their gaming habits are becoming problematic. By setting limits, taking breaks, and seeking support when needed, players can enjoy online gambling responsibly and minimize the potential negative consequences associated with excessive gaming. Choosing a casino that prioritizes responsible gambling ensures that players have access to the necessary tools and support systems to maintain control over their gaming activities and enjoy a safe and enjoyable gambling experience.

BREAKING: Tragic Head-On Bus Accident at Chicago, Beitbridge ‘Caused By A Ferret CIO High Speed Chase’

By A Correspondent | In the early hours of March 16, 2024, a devastating head-on collision occurred at Chicago in Beitbridge, marking a dark start to the day for the region.

A source near the scene told ZimEye over 30 people are feared dead.

Stay tuned to this page for the latest information as it becomes available.

How To Win an RFP: Tips and Tricks

Securing contracts through requests for proposals (RFPs) can be a gateway to lucrative opportunities and business growth. However, discerning the complex intricacies of an RFP and crafting a winning response requires a strategic approach, attention to detail, and a touch of finesse. In this competitive landscape, understanding how to stand out and persuasively communicate your value proposition is paramount. Keep reading to unlock the secrets of how to win an RFP.

Understanding the Essentials of a Request for Proposal

An RFP serves as a formal document issued by an organization, soliciting proposals from potential suppliers or service providers. Understanding the RFP’s objectives, requirements, and constraints is a fundamental step in crafting a winning response. Review the document thoroughly, ensuring you comprehend each aspect and can address them effectively in your proposal.

Initial analysis should focus on the scope of work, deliverables, and the evaluation criteria outlined in the RFP. Aligning your company’s strengths and offerings with the prospect’s needs is critical for demonstrating capability and fit. Additionally, make note of mandatory meetings, submission deadlines, and any questions or clarification points toward the issuing organization.

Crafting a Comprehensive Response Strategy

Developing a strategic plan to approach your RFP response is pivotal. Start by assembling a cross-functional team that combines different skill sets and perspectives. This team should strategize on how to position your company best, identifying unique selling points and competitive advantages that can be highlighted in the response.

A structured response that precisely addresses the key points of the RFP while remaining clear and coherent is crucial. Outline your approach to the project, providing a detailed methodology and project management plan. This demonstrates to the issuer that you have a concrete plan to deliver results.

Financial considerations are a cornerstone of any proposal. Besides ensuring that your pricing is competitive, it’s important to communicate the value that the client will receive. Transparency in costing and a breakdown of expenses reveal professionalism and build trust with the prospect.

Employing Persuasive Writing Techniques for RFPs

A compelling narrative is essential for engaging your prospective client and distinguishing your proposal. Use persuasive writing techniques to build a case for why your company is the best choice, weaving in stories of past successes and testimonials to add authenticity. Mirror the language and tone of the RFP to improve alignment with the issuer’s expectations.

Impactful executive summaries are vital. As the first substantive piece the evaluator reads, your summary must encapsulate the benefits and differentiators of your offering succinctly. Making this section persuasive and reflective of the entire proposal is fundamental to capturing the evaluators’ interest.

Clarify complex ideas and avoid jargon that might confuse evaluators. While technical specifications and innovative approaches can differentiate your proposal, they need to be communicated in a manner that is both accessible and convincing to non-experts in the field.

Quality and proofreading go hand in hand. A proposal free of errors signifies professionalism and attention to detail—attributes that evaluators will associate with your service delivery. Ensure that multiple team members meticulously edit and cross-check the proposal before submission.

Leveraging Team Expertise and Collaboration in Your Proposal

Your team is your greatest asset in developing a successful RFP response. Each member brings unique expertise and perspective, creating a comprehensive and knowledge-backed proposal. Encourage collaboration among different departments, such as sales, technical staff, and finance, to foster synergy and align the proposal to the business objectives.

Involving subject matter experts (SMEs) can significantly enhance the quality of your proposal’s content. They can provide detailed insights into technical approaches, innovation, or industry trends that could be a deciding factor in winning the contract. Ensure the SMEs’ thoughts are integrated clearly and cohesively into the proposal narrative.

By implementing these insights and remaining committed to excellence, your proposals can become more impactful, increasing your success rate in the competitive landscape of RFPs.

Rural Teachers Enraged By US$20 Salary Increment

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has raised concerns over the recent salary increment awarded to civil servants by the government.

The increment, amounting to US$20, has been deemed inadequate by ARTUZ, prompting discussions about the need for a more substantial review.
In their critique, ARTUZ has specifically targeted Cecilia Alexander and the entire leadership of the Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU)—formerly known as the Apex Council.
According to ARTUZ, these leaders have failed to adequately represent civil servants’ interests, resulting in what they perceive as unfavorable deals. ARTUZ’s statement reads:
Cecilia Alexander and her cabal of imposters have made themselves life negotiators on behalf of Civil servants. They always bring back rotten deals! The nonsense stops now! Government is advised that we are not accepting USD 20 increment and a mass action will be announced!
Earlier this week, ZCPSTU expressed frustration over the lack of progress in salary negotiations with the government, especially given the rising cost of living. The union accused the government of failing to honor its commitment to convene a National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC) meeting every quarter.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association (ZIMTA) has also weighed in, urging the government to address the issue of teachers’ salaries promptly. ZIMTA specifically calls for a review of the United States Dollar component in their compensation.
In their official statement issued on March 12, 2024, ZIMTA emphasized the urgency of resolving the negotiation stalemate. They assert that prolonged inaction and disregard for teachers’ concerns cannot be tolerated any longer.
It’s important to note that civil servants currently earn less than US$300 per month, in addition to a local currency salary component that falls below US$100.

Gokwe Villager In Trouble For Calling ED A ‘Scud’

Gokwe villager Mark Mandiki has landed himself in trouble after he allegedly labelled President Emmerson Mnangagwa a “SCUD”.

Mandiki allegedly made the remarks on February 25, 2023, during a heated verbal exchange with a Zanu-PF member, Doubt Tonhorayi.

He appeared in court Wednesday charged with undermining and insulting the Office of the President.

“Your President Mnangagwa looks like an ancient opaque beer container known as SCUD, which is why it was named ED because it is as rotten as him,” part of the charge sheet read.

On Wednesday, the State closed its case after three witnesses had testified in the matter.

Mandiki, who is expected to submit his defence on April 3, claims Tonhorayi is framing him to settle political scores.

He claims Tonhorayi was once an opposition activist before switching to Zanu-PF, hence there is bad between them.

Prosecutor Michael Reza in Acts of Misconduct

By A Correspondent| In a shocking revelation, the case against activists Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri, members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been marred by allegations of misconduct involving Harare Prosecutor Michael Reza.

The intricate web of deceit allegedly orchestrated by Reza has cast doubt on the integrity of the legal proceedings.

The scandal unfolded on October 28, 2020, when Reza, purportedly in collusion with an individual from his office identified as Chigaba, allegedly forged the signature of Prosecutor George Manokore.

This deceptive maneuver, according to reports, aimed to create the false impression that Manokore had signed an affidavit when, in reality, he was absent from work on that fateful day.

Further scrutiny reveals that Manokore did not appear before the relevant authorities, raising questions about the legality of the affidavit commissioned in his absence.

The affidavit in question was subsequently filed on behalf of the State by Reza in the case number HC 6207/22, perpetuating what appears to be a fraudulent scheme.

Manokore is said to have evaded involvement by leaving his workplace and citing personal reasons for his absence the following day.

Tafadzwa Chigaba, identified as a participant in forging signatures, reportedly expressed frustration over being manipulated for such illicit purposes.

Compounding the allegations, it is said Reza received unlawful gifts or considerations, including a four-bedroom apartment, allegedly awarded by Ken Sharpe, at the Pokugara complex in Borrowdale.

These purported gifts, tied to Reza’s aggressive pursuit of cases involving political figures such as Tendai Biti raise concerns about impartiality and ethical conduct within the legal system.

Reza’s conduct, as described by unnamed sources, paints a picture of a prosecutor who portrays himself as incorruptible while allegedly engaging in egregious misconduct behind the scenes.

His actions, including self-appointment to represent the State in the High Court and alleged protection of certain individuals, highlight systemic flaws and potential abuse of power within the legal framework.

As these allegations come to light, calls for a thorough investigation into Reza’s tenure and practices at Rotten Row echo among concerned people within the Judiciary.

Zanu PF Members In Trouble For “Misusing” Social Media

By A Correspondent

In a move that highlights internal tensions within Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu PF, senior party officials have come under fire for releasing unauthorized media statements.

The party’s reprimand, issued on Thursday, underscores the challenges of maintaining unity and coherence within the organization.

The controversy stems from comments made by senior Zanu PF officials regarding the removal of sanctions, which were not sanctioned by the party’s leadership.

This breach of protocol has raised concerns among observers, who see it as indicative of deeper divisions within the party.

Zanu PF’s directive explicitly prohibits members from independently releasing statements or engaging with the media without prior approval. This includes refraining from posting content on social media platforms.

The party emphasizes the importance of adhering to official channels for communication to ensure consistency and prevent the dissemination of conflicting messages.

According to the statement issued by Zanu PF, unauthorized communications risk undermining the party’s unified stance on key issues, potentially causing confusion among supporters and the public.

By centralizing communication through designated party offices, Zanu PF aims to maintain control over its messaging and prevent the spread of misinformation or divergent viewpoints.

The reprimand serves as a reminder of the strict hierarchical structure within Zanu PF, where adherence to party discipline is paramount.

Any deviation from the established protocol is swiftly addressed to safeguard the party’s interests and reputation.

However, the incident also sheds light on the internal dynamics of Zanu PF, with speculation rife about the motivations behind the unauthorized statements.

Some observers interpret the actions of the implicated officials as symptomatic of power struggles and factionalism within the party, particularly in the face of mounting challenges and public scrutiny.

As Zimbabwe grapples with economic hardships and political uncertainties, the cohesion of Zanu PF becomes increasingly crucial.

Internal rifts and conflicting narratives only serve to undermine the party’s credibility and effectiveness in governance, posing a threat to stability and progress.

In response to the controversy, Zanu PF has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline and unity among its members.

The party’s leadership emphasizes the need for collective responsibility and adherence to established protocols for communication and decision-making.

Moving forward, Zanu PF faces the challenge of addressing internal divisions and fostering a more cohesive and inclusive approach to governance.

Only through concerted efforts to bridge differences and promote transparency can the party regain public trust and effectively lead Zimbabwe towards a brighter future.

Everybody Loves Zanu PF – Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent

In a surprising move, President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has extended an invitation to all, regardless of past differences, to join the ruling party, Zanu PF.

This unprecedented call comes in the wake of the readmission of former members who had previously been expelled or suspended from the party.

Notable among those welcomed back into the fold are individuals who once held significant positions within Zanu PF, including Dr. Ignatius Chombo, Killer Zivhu, Robert Nyemudzo, and Petronella Kagonye, among others.

Their return marks a shift in the party’s stance, signaling a willingness to reconcile and unite for the greater good.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Zanu PF Secretary-General Obert Mpofu confirmed the development, emphasizing Mnangagwa’s magnanimity.

Mpofu highlighted the president’s forgiving nature, stating, “His Excellency President Mnangagwa is a pardoning leader. He doesn’t hold grudges against anybody no matter how much you tormented him or challenged him.”

“This gesture of reconciliation reflects President Mnangagwa’s vision for a united Zanu PF, where internal divisions are set aside in favor of a cohesive and inclusive party.”

Mpofu reiterated the president’s sentiments, noting that Zanu PF is greater than any individual and has the capacity to accommodate all who are willing to contribute positively to its objectives.

The decision to welcome back former members may come as a surprise to some, given the tumultuous history of Zimbabwean politics and the often divisive nature of party affiliations.

By extending this olive branch, Mnangagwa not only seeks to heal past wounds within the party but also to foster a spirit of reconciliation and cooperation across the political spectrum, according to Mpofu.

Liverpool’s rising star, Trey Nyoni, is intensifying his training with the senior team as they prepare for a crucial Round of 16 second leg encounter against Sparta Prague on Thursday.

At just 16 years old, Nyoni is making waves in his debut season at Anfield, impressing with his performances in the Academy.

His standout displays have earned him opportunities with the Reds’ senior squad, culminating in his senior debut in the FA Cup last month.

Despite his promising talent, Nyoni will not be eligible to join the squad for Thursday’s Europa League fixture due to UEFA regulations.

According to UEFA statutes, players must be 21 years old or younger and have been with the club for at least two years to be eligible for List B registration in the Europa League squad.Having only joined Liverpool from Leicester City seven months ago, Nyoni falls short of meeting the eligibility criteria for List B.

DeMbare In Tricky Fixture Against Hwange

Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe believes his charges will bounce back from last week’s defeat to rivals Highlanders at Babourfields, when they face Hwange at the same venue tomorrow.

The youthful coach’s experiment of starting arguably the biggest match of the Premier Soccer League with five recruits —Nomore Chinyerere, Frederick Ansah Botchway, Temptation Chiwunga, Valentine Kadonzvo and Alexander Mandinyenya backfired, as Bosso deservedly won the game.

Highlanders won the game 2-1 courtesy of goals on either side of the half time break from Melikhaya Ncube and Achiford Faira, while Mandinyenya got Dynamos’ consolation.

Mangombe however believes his troops, who trained at Rufaro Stadium yesterday ahead of the trip to Bulawayo, will correct their mistakes from the defeat to Bosso and collect maximum points against a tricky Hwange.

“We need to start collecting maximum points and looking at our opponent, they collected maximum against Yadah, they will want to maintain that fine run,” said Mangombe.

“Hwange is always a tricky side, we have been working on how they play and exploring ways on how we are going to maneuver especially in the attacking third and pull a setback on them.

“They also have what it takes and the experience on their squad so we need to be prepared for this game and with what we have been doing,” he added.

DeMbare welcomed back to training midfielder Tanaka Shandirwa, who missed the Highlanders game.

Understanding Climate Change

By A Correspondent

Climate change, fuelled by various activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, is a heavy toll on the planet.

From rising temperatures to extreme weather events, the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent and dire. One of the most visible consequences of climate change is the warming of the planet.

Average global temperatures have been steadily rising, leading to melting ice caps, shrinking glaciers, and rising sea levels. These changes not only threaten ecosystems and biodiversity but also put coastal communities at risk of flooding and displacement.Extreme weather events, including hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires, are becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change.

These events not only cause immediate devastation but also have long-lasting economic and social impacts, disrupting livelihoods and exacerbating poverty and inequality.

Mnangagwa Offers Civil Servants $20 Pay Increase

By Political Reporter- Civil Servants through the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) have rejected a $20 pay increase offered by the government.

PTUZ said US$20, is inadequate by ARTUZ, and called for discussions about the need for a more substantial review.

The union accused the government of failing to honour its commitment to convene a National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC) meeting every quarter.

UK Govt Revokes Operating License For A Care Company Set Up And Run By A Zimbabwean Nurse

A care company has had its licence to sponsor workers from abroad revoked by the Home Office amid an investigation into claims it was breaching migrant worker rules.

Support Services First Choice Limitedset up by a Zimbabwean national Ottilia Chingosho is being investigated by the UK government, which says it will not tolerate what it calls “illegal activity in the labour market”.

The Hawick-based firm provides healthcare workers who support people living in their own homes across the Borders region.

But its international sponsorship licence, which allows it to use relaxed immigration rules to fill vacancies, has been suspended after concerns were raised over how staff were treated.

In a statement, the Home Office said the care provider was found to be non-compliant with the requirements for organisations that hold a sponsor licence for migrant workers.

It said it would be “inappropriate to comment while an investigation is ongoing” and that “any accusations of illegal employment practices are thoroughly looked into”.

Under its rules – based on a 37.5 hour working week limit – staff must be paid a minimum of £20,960, or £10.75 per hour, whichever is higher.

Those found operating unlawfully, and paying staff less, can face prosecution.

The revoking of the licence was first reported in The Times,

Scottish Borders Council (SBC) confirmed it was working with the Home Office to alleviate care worker shortages created by the current investigation into the company.

In a statement, the local authority said: “A care provider has lost their international sponsorship licence and we are engaging with all parties to ensure continuity of care.”

It added it was “unable to comment” on “the exact circumstances that led to the loss of the licence” which are the subject of the inquiry.

The firm was registered to an address at Edinburgh Napier University, before moving to Teviot Crescent in the centre of Hawick in 2021.

The Scottish government’s Care Inspectorate confirmed it was “aware of Home Office action” in relation to Support Services First Choice.

In a statement, it said it was “working closely with SBC and partners to ensure people continue to experience care which meets their needs and respects their rights”.

Scottish Care, who represent the largest group of social care providers across Scotland, said it “recognises international staff are a critical part of the delivery of all social care in Scotland”.

A spokesman added: “It is critical those coming to work in Scotland are supported in a manner which is both ethical and legal, and which supports their rights and dignity”.

He added that “illegal practices are never acceptable in any circumstances”.

Support Services First Choice have been approached for comment.

Is Wicknell Chivhayo Now More Popular Than Nelson Chamisa?

By Garikai Chaunza-In recent times, the spotlight in Zimbabwe has shifted, with controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo eclipsing even the charismatic opposition figure Nelson Chamisa in terms of public attention.

Garikai Chaunza

This shift raises intriguing questions about the dynamics of popularity in contemporary Zimbabwean society. Chivhayo’s sudden surge in prominence can be attributed to his involvement in a Zanu PF-sponsored initiative, where he is on a lavish spree of distributing free expensive cars to Zimbabwean celebrities.

This strategy, strongly believed to be orchestrated by Zanu PF with an eye on the 2028 elections, aims to leverage the influence of these celebrities to bolster the image of the ruling party, which has been grappling with unpopularity. By aligning himself with Zanu PF’s agenda, Chivhayo has managed to capture the public’s attention in a manner that even seasoned politicians like Chamisa have struggled to achieve. His generosity towards celebrities, mostly musicians and radio DJs, has garnered widespread media coverage and social media buzz, effectively thrusting him into the limelight.

The argument about Chivhayo’s alignment with Zanu PF can be supported by his mention of either the ruling party or the projects linked to the First family when dishing out these so-called gifts to the recipients.

Meanwhile, Chamisa, once hailed as the most sought-after political figure in Zimbabwe finds himself in a relatively subdued position. Since his departure from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in January, Chamisa has maintained a low profile, seemingly sidelined from the political discourse that he once dominated.

Chamisa’s diminished presence can be attributed to internal strife within the opposition movement, as evidenced by his departure from the party he founded nearly three years ago. Allegations of betrayal and intrigue among his close allies have further weakened his position, leaving him with fewer avenues to assert his influence.

Moreover, Chamisa’s electoral defeat in the 2018 elections, which he claims was marred by rigging orchestrated by Zanu PF, has undoubtedly dented his aura of invincibility. Despite his spirited challenge to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rule, Chamisa’s inability to clinch victory in the face of alleged electoral malpractice has raised questions about his political efficacy.

In comparing the popularity of Chivhayo and Chamisa, it becomes apparent that the former’s ascent is emblematic of a broader trend in Zimbabwean society. The allure of wealth and extravagance, coupled with strategic alliances with powerful political entities, can often overshadow the charisma and political acumen of even the most formidable opponents.

However, it would be premature to write off Chamisa entirely. His resilience and ability to connect with ordinary Zimbabweans have been evident throughout his political career. While he may currently be facing challenges, Chamisa has proven himself to be a formidable force in Zimbabwean politics, capable of staging comebacks and reshaping the political landscape.

I argue that the rise of Chivhayo vis-à-vis Chamisa underlines the complex interplay between controversial wealth, power, and charisma in shaping public perceptions.

While Chivhayo’s prominence may be a testament to the allure of his controversial material wealth and political patronage, Chamisa’s enduring appeal lies in his ability to champion the aspirations of the Zimbabwean people.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, only time will tell whether Chivhayo’s moment in the spotlight is fleeting or if Chamisa can reclaim his position as the preeminent figure in Zimbabwean politics.

Senior Zanu PF Officials In Trouble For Releasing Unauthorized Media Statements

Chivayo Urinates On Poor People…

Two Zimbabwean Musicians Cry For Brand New Cars From Wicknell Chivayo

By A Correspondent

In a poignant display of desperation tinged with hope, two Zimbabwean musicians have taken to social media to publicly plead for cars from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

The gesture underscores the harsh economic realities facing artists in the country, where poverty has pushed many to seek support from affluent figures like Chivayo.

The musicians, whose names remain undisclosed, showcased their plea in a video performance, symbolizing the increasingly prevalent trend of artists resorting to unconventional means to secure basic necessities like transportation.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and controversial business dealings, has emerged as a quasi-patron of sorts, showering cars upon musicians and celebrities akin to a modern-day Father Christmas.

In a display of ostentation typical of his persona, Chivayo boasted on his official Facebook page about his philanthropic endeavors, likening himself to a benevolent figure bestowing gifts upon the deserving.

His post, laden with emojis of applause and astonishment, underscores the spectacle surrounding his actions and the attention they garner.

Observers have lamented the state of affairs, noting how poverty has reduced talented musicians to beggars, dependent on the goodwill of affluent individuals like Chivayo to sustain their careers and livelihoods.

The disparity between the opulence enjoyed by a select few and the destitution endured by the masses highlights the broader socio-economic inequalities plaguing Zimbabwe.

The plight of Zimbabwean musicians reflects a larger narrative of struggle and resilience in the face of adversity.

Despite the challenges, artists continue to persevere, utilizing their creativity and resourcefulness to navigate a landscape fraught with obstacles.

However, the reliance on external benefactors like Chivayo underscores the need for systemic reforms to support the arts and empower artists to thrive independently.

As the debate surrounding Chivayo’s benevolence rages on, it is imperative to address the root causes of poverty and inequality in Zimbabwe.

Sustainable solutions that prioritize economic empowerment, access to opportunities, and support for the arts sector are essential to ensure that artists no longer find themselves at the mercy of wealthy benefactors for their basic needs.

In the meantime, the plea for car sponsorships serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by Zimbabwean musicians and the resilience they exhibit in their pursuit of artistic expression amidst adversity.

It is a call to action for society to rally behind its artists, recognizing their invaluable contributions and working towards a future where talent flourishes independent of economic constraints.

PRESIDENT E.D. MNANGAGWA OFFICIATES AT THE 9TH ORDINARY MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN DIAMOND PRODUCING COUNTRIES (ADPA)

Live @ Elephant Hills Resort Victoria Falls

President E.D. Mnangagwa

It is with great pleasure that l welcome you all to the 9th ordinary meeting of the ADPA.

I hope you found a conjusive environment to discuss. Diamonds can store wealth and improve the livelihoods of our people… the proposed restrictions on sale of diamonds are unacceptable. Our collective voice as Africa on the declining price of the rough diamonds must be heard.

Mining entities are being encouraged to be environmentally friendly. Innovation is required for efficiency and to attain global standards.

The manner we extract our resources must go in hand with good extraction practices that are community centered.

We must leverage our resources to build our continent brick by brick and stone by stone.

Communities where mining takes place should be empowered for long after resources are depleted.

The growth of the sector should empower down stream.

The natural diamonds prices are declining and need to be protected through coming up with new strategies. African people should take pride and be consumers of our own products and not mere producers.

A modern and industrialised Africa will become a reality through value addition and benefition of our resources.

It is through the cutting and polishing of our diamonds that will make us benefit from our diamonds. The time has come for us to cut and polish our diamonds and increase exploration of diamonds.

Let us continue to explore for new minerals… to this end l say the decision to come up with ideas that benfit us rest with us, to this end l say l declare this 9th ordinary meeting of the ADPA officially opened.

Mnangagwa Invites Everyone To Join Zanu PF Today

Chipinge On The Verge Of Making History

Chipinge will make history this month when it probably becomes the only town in Zimbabwe with more than enough water for all its residents.

This follows the completion of a US$1,9 million water reticulation system upgrade project by the local authority and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

Water supply will increase from 5 to 10Mega litres while the demand stands at 9Mega litres. Several towns, Chitungwiza and Mabvuku suburb included have gone for 20 years without tape water.

World Met Day: Addressing the Climate Crisis

Girl Dismissed From Military School Over Uncut Hair

By A Correspondent| A Primary school in Bulawayo has expelled a Grade 6 pupil over uncut hair.

The pupil was given her marching orders two days ago.

According to sources, Indlovu Iyanyathela Primary School head Themba Siziba called the girl’s father and told him not to bother himself by sending his daughter to the school.

Indlovu Iyanyathela Primary School is situated at Khumalo Barracks, formerly Brady Barracks, in Paddonhurst, Bulawayo.

Siziba asked the girl’s father if he had taken note of his daughter’s hair and that she was supposed to have it cut.

Siziba said there seemed to be some “resistance” since last year to have her hair cut.

“Before the end of this week, please come and get her transfer letter so that she goes to another school when she can do as she pleases,” he told the girl’s father.

“We want to register pupils here for the Grade 7 classes, but we are not going to register her. I am done with you.

“Don’t bother sending her to this school ever again, she can go to other schools, but not here.

“We have rules here and those rules should be followed.”

When the girl’s father told Siziba that “you don’t have to be emotional,” the latter exploded, an audio recording.

“We gave you a grace period, but here you are telling me about my being emotional. In fact, no one came to me to discuss this issue despite repeated efforts to engage you.”

The girl’s father countered the claim saying he had sent a letter from the doctor which stated that his daughter should not have her hair cut.

A letter written by one Dr Kuravone of Mpilo Central Hospital and dated March 15, 2022 reads: “This is to confirm that the above-named is being managed at our hospital for a condition associated with exposure (to) the sun. Based on our investigations, she is at an increased risk of developing pigmentosa and we see it fit that as part of the protection from the condition, she should not be bald or cut her hair.”

Retinitis pigmentosa is a rare, inherited degenerative eye disease that causes sever vision impairment, according to an internet search on Mayo Clinic website.

Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro promised to look into the matter.

Civil Servants Salaries Not Enough To Pay For Funeral Assurance

By A Correspondent| According to Raymond Majongwe, the Secretary General of the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), funeral assurance companies have begun informing civil servants that the RTGS component of their salaries is insufficient to cover their monthly contributions.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Majongwe stated:

“Teachers and other civil servants are now receiving messages from a funeral assurance service provider, notifying them that their RTGS salary no longer covers the necessary deductions. In other jurisdictions, such a situation would compel the government to raise wages, but sadly not here. It’s a lamentable state of affairs.”

Opposition MP Presses Social Welfare Minister Over Pensioner Payouts

By A Correspondent| Opposition legislator Mutsa Murombedzi of Mashonaland West yesterday took Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, July Moyo to task over the government’s neglect of pensioners’ welfare.

Murombedzi took the floor to address what he described as the ongoing plight of pensioners who, he claimed, were being “tossed from one Ministry to the other.”

She highlighted a question raised on February 13th regarding the inadequacy of pension payments, emphasizing the dire situation faced by pensioners who require daily medication but lack the financial means to acquire it.

“The pension for pensioners needs to be looked into but the Minister said they were going to look into it. It is now a month down the line and nothing has been done to correct the anomaly.

“We have pensioners who require medication on daily basis but they have not received any concrete response from the relevant ministries.

“They are living in poverty because the pensions that they are getting are meagre and insufficient,” said Murombedzi.

She criticized the lack of tangible responses from relevant ministries, arguing that pensioners were enduring poverty due to meagre and insufficient pensions.

“Ministers should tell us tangible things so that the money that they are getting as pensioners will be able to sustain them and buy drugs for them,” added Murombedzi.

Responding to Murombedzi’s impassioned plea, Minister July Moyo defended the government’s stance, asserting that a “tangible response requires a tangible question.”

He maintained that he had provided a concrete statement regarding government policy when queried on the matter, implying that further action was contingent upon specific inquiries.

Drunken Driver Kills Kids In Accident

The quiet outskirts of Mutare, specifically the Toronto area of Penhalonga, was the scene of a heart-wrenching tragedy that has sparked outrage and grief in equal measure. On an otherwise ordinary day, the lives of three young learners were abruptly ended, casting a long shadow over the community. The accident, involving a speeding vehicle driven by a visibly intoxicated driver along Christmas Pass-Shamu Road, has exposed the deadly consequences of reckless driving and the critical need for stricter enforcement of road safety laws.

The deceased were identified as Blessing Chasarira, nine, Silvian Maponde, thirteen, and Strive Maponde, nine. All hailed from Chirochangu Plot, Toronto, and were the cherished children of a couple who now face the unimaginable grief of losing their only offspring in an instant. Witnesses at the scene described the driver, John Dumbura, as “stone drunk” and driving at excessive speeds, a lethal combination that culminated in this tragedy.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, stating, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a road traffic accident in which three learners were killed… when a Toyota Fortuner vehicle veered off the road to the left and knocked down the learners who were crossing the road.” The community’s sorrow is palpable, with neighbors struggling to console the bereaved families, and an atmosphere of mourning enveloping the area.

The parents of Silvian and Strive Maponde, upon arriving at the horrific scene, were confronted with a loss so profound that words fail to capture their despair. Mr. Gift Maponde, through tears, recounted the moments leading up to the accident, emphasizing the preventable nature of this calamity. “My children… were hit by the car and died on the spot. They are gone,” he lamented, the pain in his voice underscoring the devastating impact of Dumbura’s recklessness.

Eyewitness accounts further illustrate the sheer negligence that led to the accident. Mrs. Primrose Masiiyiwa, a witness, recounted the children’s careful approach to crossing the road, only to have their lives stolen in a flash by the oncoming vehicle. Another witness, Mr. Malvin Makoni, highlighted the aftermath of the crash and the evident intoxication of the driver, reinforcing the community’s outrage and disbelief.

This tragedy underscores a harsh reality: the deadly consequences of drunk driving and the urgent need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations. The loss of Blessing, Silvian, and Strive is a wake-up call, a grievous reminder of what is at stake when individuals choose to disregard the safety of others. As the community mourns, there is a collective call for accountability and change, for measures that ensure no other family endures the unfathomable pain of losing loved ones to such senseless acts.

The incident not only demands justice for the young victims but also serves as a critical examination of societal attitudes towards road safety and the collective responsibility to prevent future tragedies. In honoring the memory of those lost, there is a pressing need for concerted efforts to enhance road safety, from stricter penalties for offenders to increased public awareness campaigns, ensuring that roads do not become graveyards for the innocent.

Accident: Bikers Killed

Two motorcyclists, each carrying a passenger, perished in a devastating head-on collision in Mutasa District, near London Stores. This incident brings to light the critical importance of adherence to traffic regulations and the often fatal consequences of their neglect.

Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, the Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, offering a detailed account of the events leading up to the fatal collision. “Richard Shorwa (26) was riding an unregistered red Lifan motorbike, while Silent Faro was on an unregistered blue motorcycle. The accident occurred when Faro, emerging from a feeder road, failed to yield to Shorwa, who was navigating another feeder road. This lapse in road safety protocol resulted in a direct collision at the intersection near London Stores,” Chinyoka detailed.

The victims, immediately following the accident, were rushed to Bonda Mission Hospital. Despite the efforts to save them, both bikers succumbed to their injuries upon admission. “Due to the impact of the collision, all parties involved were severely injured and subsequently rushed to Bonda Mission Hospital where the bikers both died on admission,” Chinyoka elaborated, highlighting the grave consequences of the accident.

In his recounting of the event, Assistant Inspector Chinyoka didn’t merely provide a narrative but also seized the opportunity to emphasize the importance of vigilance and responsibility on the roads. “This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder for motorists and cyclists alike to exercise due care and caution when on the road,” he urged, stressing the necessity for all road users to adhere strictly to traffic laws to prevent such unnecessary loss of life.

Parallel to this heartbreaking incident, Chinyoka reported another unrelated but equally tragic accident in Chief Ngorima’s area along the Jopa-Kopa Road. A 48-year-old man, Angirai Ruwa, lost his life when the vehicle he was in, a white Nissan UD80 truck driven by Michael Mhika, carrying pit sand and five passengers, suffered a brake failure. “Upon approaching Kopa Business Centre, where there is a steep slope and a sharp curve, Mhika’s vehicle developed brake failure, veered off the road, overturned once, and plunged into a valley, resulting in Ruwa’s instant death,” Chinyoka detailed.

These incidents starkly highlight the unpredictable and often perilous nature of road travel, underscoring the imperative of preventive measures such as regular vehicle maintenance, adherence to road signs, and cautious driving, especially in areas known for challenging terrain.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka’s reports not only mourn the loss of lives but also serve as a critical call to action for all road users to prioritize safety, thereby honoring the memory of those lost by preventing future tragedies.- Manica Post

Magistrate Accuses ZRP Cop Of Cheating

In a case that may illustrate the complex interplay of personal, professional, and legal spheres, the incident involving police officer Chipo Mukwasi in a Bulawayo courtroom ignites a debate about the fairness and decorum of legal proceedings. The decision by Magistrate Vakayi Chikwekwe, demanding Mukwasi to leave the courtroom and change from her police uniform into civilian attire, raises questions about the inherent values and biases within the judiciary system, particularly regarding the treatment of individuals in uniform.

This article seeks to explore the underlying issues of fairness and justice in the case, examining the implications of the magistrate’s decision and the broader societal and legal contexts in which it occurred.

### Unpacking the Incident

Chipo Mukwasi found herself embroiled in a legal battle after being sued for US$5,000 by Yeukai Pfumbirai, who accused Mukwasi of having an affair with her husband. This lawsuit culminated in a courtroom scene that many have criticized as unduly humiliating for Mukwasi. The demand for her to change out of her uniform not only served to embarrass her but also stripped her of the professional identity that the uniform represents. The act can be interpreted as an attempt to diminish her authority and presence, which is particularly concerning given the respect and dignity typically afforded to law enforcement officers.

The subsequent garnishee order, reduced to US$75 from the requested US$200 by the magistrate, further complicates the narrative. It highlights the magistrate’s discretionary power in legal proceedings, which, in this instance, appears to have been exercised in a manner that some may view as punitive beyond the financial judgment already imposed on Mukwasi.

### The Intersection of Professionalism and Legal Judgments

The magistrate’s decision to have Mukwasi change out of her uniform touches on the broader issue of how legal systems interact with professional identities. Uniforms carry symbolic weight, representing not just the individual but the institution they belong to. The order to remove it, especially in a public and professional setting like a courtroom, sends a message that could be interpreted as undermining the respect and authority associated with law enforcement.

This incident raises critical questions about the balance between respecting professional identity and ensuring that legal proceedings are conducted without undue influence or bias. It begs the question of whether the same demand would have been made of individuals from other professions or societal standings, thus challenging the perceived impartiality of the legal process.

### Legal Proceedings and Societal Perceptions

The fairness of the magistrate’s decision also needs to be analyzed in the context of societal perceptions of law enforcement officers. In many jurisdictions, police officers are held to higher standards of conduct, both on and off duty. This expectation can lead to a heightened sense of scrutiny in their personal lives, which can sometimes manifest in legal settings. However, the principle of equality before the law dictates that individuals, regardless of their profession, should be treated with fairness and dignity in the courtroom.

Moreover, the public nature of the courtroom and the subsequent media coverage of such incidents have the potential to influence public perception of the individuals involved and the legal system more broadly. The handling of this case, particularly the spectacle created by ordering an officer to change attire, could contribute to a perception of the legal system as a space where personal vendettas are settled rather than justice being impartially administered.

The case of Chipo Mukwasi serves as a focal point for discussions about the intersections of personal dignity, professional identity, and legal fairness. The magistrate’s decision, whether intended or not, raises concerns about the potential for undue humiliation and the impact of such actions on the perceived impartiality of the legal system. As societies continue to grapple with the complexities of balancing respect for individual and professional identities within legal frameworks, incidents like these underscore the need for continual reflection on and reassessment of the principles that underlie our legal and judicial processes.

A Special Tribute To Mudhara Wazadza

13 March 2024

Citizens in Zaka South Ward 21 were greatly shocked by the sad news of the passing on of President Nelson Chamisa’s top fanatic, Mr. Enias Manyatera who was popularly known as Mdhara Wazadza.

Since the inception of the organic opposition politics pioneered by the pragmatic late icon of democracy, Dr. Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, Manyatera has been actively participating in the national discourse.

The late senior cadre was known for his sound prayers at the commencement of our rallies and meetings.

He was a man of varlour, mettle, and nerve because it was not easy at his advanced age to openly oppose tyrants in ZANU-PF residing in dangerous areas like Chitiyo.

Mr. Manyatera shall be missed by all progressive citizens home and abroad. He remains a paragon of virtue and fortified source of inspiration.

Ward 21 has lost a dedicated and energetic old cadre. May you rest in power our father and source of political wisdom.

Since solidarity is a core value of social democracy, all roads should lead to Zaka Chitiyo.

It is not about party positions but the role that one plays in the national democratic revolution.

Mdhara Wazadza is going to be remembered for his consistency in supporting the democratic project from the late Tsvangirai to the predecessor, Advocate Nelson Chamisa.

Let’s flood Chitiyo tonight and tomorrow in respect of our committed cadre. He was being commented for his sacrifice when he decided to sleep at Chitiyo Primary polling station guarding the residue.

The dedication exhibited by the late Manyatera should inspire us to focus on the real struggle not trinkets and perks.

The old man risked everything in support of the democratic alternative. He was vulnerable to any abuse by ZANU-PF morons but did not hesitate to the Harare regime his middle finger. Sleep well Mdhara Wazadza, you fought a good fight. You inspired us! We shall continue with the struggle until victory.
