Man shoots 5 other men over debt

By A Correspondent- A 33 year old Goromonzi man on Saturday appeared in court after he tried to shoot five men with his pistol at the height of a misunderstanding.

Micheal Shonhiwa Zhanda was facing five counts of attempted murder when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Esther Chivasa.

The court heard that on October 11, 2023 at around 7pm, the five complainants in this matter were at Accident Panel Beaters, Eastlea, Harare, situated near VID Eastlea Depot when Zhanda approached them driving a Toyota Hilux GD6 with unknown registration numbers.

It is alleged that Zhanda started accusing one of the complainants of refusing to pay him a debt.

A misunderstanding ensued among them, prompting Zhanda threatening to shoot them.

He allegedly withdrew his firearm and pointed it towards the complainants.

It is the State’s case that Zhanda then fired four shots towards them, hitting the ground, but he missed them all.

He then drove away and the complainants made a report at ZRP Fife Avenue.

The scene was attended by the police who then picked three spent cartridges.

Investigations were carried out by detectives from CID Homicide Harare and upon realising that he was being sought, Zhanda surrendered himself to the police.

A Canik 9mm pistol serial number T6472-18-BJ01058 registered in his name under Central Firearm Registry number 170434 for the purpose of Cash In-transit Protection and Gun clubbing was recovered and is being held as an exhibit.

Israel war of defense against HAMAS terrorism – dispelling myths

By Ambassador Ofra Farhi| As Israel has gradually resumed control and cleared the border areas flooded with terrorists, the extent of the Hamas massacre has been revealed.

As of today, we have counted more than 1,400 people murdered, among them babies, children, women and elderly people. Entire families were butchered in their homes. Infants were mutilated and children gunned to death with their parents. Hundreds of young men and women were slaughtered, most of them shot to death, at a music festival. More than 3,500 people were injured, many of them still vacillating between life and death. Over 150 have been abducted to Gaza, their fate unknown. In addition, the enemies of Israel launched thousands of rockets against its civilian population.

The Hamas attack in the south was the premeditated mass murder of innocent civilians. The launching of rockets against the Israel’s population is a further attempt to terrorize and kill innocent citizens.

HAMAS is ISIS.

It is time to dispel myths that once again are circled but have no truth in them

The first myth is the unholy equation made, in a futile attempt to preserve a non-existent balance, to deceptively describe the conflict as “violence on both sides.”

However, while Israel seeks peace and coexistence, the Palestinian terrorist organizations, including Hamas, choose death and devastation. While throughout the conflict Israel has made great efforts to minimize harm to civilians, the militant Palestinians aim at innocent civilians as their primary objective. Hamas commits a double war crime – targeting Israeli civilians while using the residents of the Gaza Strip as human shields.

There can be no comparison. There is no equivalence between those attacking innocent civilians and those defending themselves against such attacks.

The second myth is one, repeated by many, that the use of force is ineffective or inherently immoral. This is false. There are times when the use of force is a necessity, an obligation and the only moral course of action. Facing the depth of evil of terrorists like those in Hamas, who set out to murder babies and slaughter innocent people in their beds, it is the obligation of every state or entity to stop them from accomplishing their goals and to prevent such atrocities by any available means.

It is unacceptable that the right to use force in self-defense is questioned in relation to Israel. Like every other state in the world, Israel has the right and the obligation to protect its citizens and to take all necessary measures to defend its people.

It is abhorrent that there are those who question that right. When Israel’s right to self-defense is questioned – the people of Israel ask: how many Israelis must be killed in order for that right to be recognized, as it is for any other nation on this planet?

The third myth to be highlighted is one that touches on the essence of the conflict between Israel and the extremist Palestinians. The falsehood that needs to be dispelled is that the conflict is only about tangible elements, like territory, water or other material assets. One of the most clichéd statements is that ‘if Israel would only do this or that then there will be peace.’ The attack on southern Israel demonstrates the fact that Hamas, like other extremists in the Palestinian camp, have no interest in compromise or coexistence. They wish to eradicate Israel and refuse to recognize it in any shape or form.

This is an existential battle, in which Israel’s survival is at stake. Israel has gone a long way in trying to achieve peaceful coexistence. It recognized the Palestinian Authority and relinquished territory to the Palestinians. Israel vacated the entire Gaza Strip, including the dismantling of all Jewish settlements in that territory. However, Israel was not rewarded with peace. Instead, the territories it vacated were then turned into terrorist training camps and launching pads for attacks. There is a growing realization that peace will only come when the majority of the Palestinians choose coexistence over conflict and eject the extremists from their midst.

I know that so many people in Zimbabwe want to help Israel at this time of need, and it warms the hearts of the people of Israel.

So, I call on you good people, pray for Israel, for the return of our kidnap soldiers and civilians and the speedy recovery of injured.

Spread the word, spread the truth, spread good and denounce evil.

Tendai Biti Election FallOut – The Untold Story

By Own Correspondent | ANALYSIS | ZimEye | In a recent revelation, accusations have emerged concerning the circumstances surrounding the 2023 elections in Zimbabwe, particularly accusations that CCC President Nelson Chamisa had a role in his deputy Tendai Biti’s failure to enter the race for MP’ship. However, information on file suggests a different story, one implicating a ZANU PF figure and a shadowy plot.

This week, ZimEye unveils a video recording concerning a phone call that took place on April 13, 2023, between businessman Alex Mashamhanda, known as Mashwede, and a judicial officer [name withheld.] In this call, Mashamhanda instructed the officer with a text message, stating, “Tendai Biti must be prevented from contesting until the year 2033.” This development has far-reaching implications for the events that followed.

Following this call, Tendai Biti was contacted by the ZimEye news network through his WhatsApp number. However, Biti did not respond, and instead, one of his brothers was alerted. Surprisingly, there was no callback or further communication from Biti, raising questions about his awareness of the situation.

The consequences of this interference became apparent when Tendai Biti received an official announcement from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. The announcement indicated that his constituency had been divided, and he would now be compelled to compete with his own client, Allan Markham. This development, although seemingly unfortunate for Biti, raises suspicions of a larger, more intricate plot.

What is becoming clear is that Tendai Biti was apparently unaware that this was all part of a ZANU PF scheme to hinder his political ambitions. The extent to which Biti could have thwarted this scheme remains a matter of debate.

Another opportunity that Biti may have missed was a proposed litigation against Zambia’s former president, Edgar Lungu. This legal action could have elevated Biti’s standing in the political arena and potentially allowed him to challenge Zimbabwe’s ruling party and its leader, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Over USD7,000 was blown waiting on Biti to convene this move, which he has never cared to take ever since the invitations back in Sept 2022.

As more details emerge, the political landscape in Zimbabwe is becoming increasingly complex and contentious, with implications for the nation’s political future and the credibility of its electoral process.

“We will follow what the people want on CALA”: Gvt

By A Correspondent- Government has set up a fund to assist schools affected by natural disasters with primary and secondary schools respectively expected to receive US$5 000 and US$10 000 in the event of a disaster.

Primary and Secondary Education minister Torerai Moyo revealed this while responding to questions in the Senate on Thursday last week. The money would be targeted at classrooms destroyed by wind and storms.

“Our ministry has got complementary funding to the tune of US$5 000 for primary schools and US$10 000 for secondary schools. These are funds that are availed by development partners and I would not want to name them. If they write letters to our ministry, we are in a position to assist those schools that would have been affected by natural disasters,” he said.

In an unrelated matter, Moyo said the Continuous Assessment Learning Activity (Cala) curriculum will not be removed, but would, instead, be reformed in response to feedback from stakeholders.

“I cannot say that we are going to remove Cala, but we follow what people want. So indeed, for Grade 7 pupils, they have a lot of work doing Cala. So, multiplying 5 by 6 you get 30, which is quite voluminous for children and it is a burden to them,” he said.

Moyo said the ministry would convene a meeting to give feedback to stakeholders on the results of the consultations that were done on Cala.

“In the past, we know that when we were going to school, there was only one project at secondary as well as university level, but you find pupils doing 30 projects which is quite tough, we are going to implement the views and contributions of the people,” he said.

Under Cala, pupils are supposed to carry out projects and tasks in schools, which constitute 30% of their coursework for the final examination under the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council for each subject.-newsday

Woman assaulted for refusing to borrow a chicken

By A Correspondent- A resident of Mazwide village in Fort Rixon, Matabeleland South province, found himself in court on charges of assaulting his wife after she declined to borrow a chicken from a neighbor.

Mvinyelwa Sibanda (aged 39) entered a plea of not guilty during his court appearance before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa last week. He was subsequently remanded in custody until October 18.

The complainant in the case is his wife, Bethile Sibanda.

According to the State’s allegations, on July 15 at approximately 9 pm, Sibanda returned home from a bar and instructed his wife to borrow a chicken from a neighbor. However, she declined due to the lateness of the hour. Sibanda is said to have initiated the assault on his wife. It was revealed in court that Sibanda’s daughter intervened to protect her mother from further harm.

In his defense, Sibanda claimed that his wife had assaulted him first and had also physically harmed him by grabbing his private parts.

Garry Mapanzure Family Says Govt Unfair In Collapsing Health Delivery Sector

MASVINGO – The death of Afro-pop star Garikai “Garry” Mapanzure has sparked outrage and grief among his fans and family, who blame the poor state of Zimbabwe’s healthcare system for his demise.

Mapanzure, 25, was involved in a road traffic accident on Thursday and died after waiting for 12 hours without receiving proper medical attention at the Masvingo Provincial Hospital, his family claimed.

His sister, who spoke at his funeral on Sunday (video above), said that her brother could have survived if he had access to a CT scanner or an ambulance that could have taken him to a better-equipped facility.

“The health system in Zimbabwe failed Garry. I want to say it because maybe they may hear us…maybe some other child, another family won’t have to go through the pain we are going through…Garry held on for 12 hours and it’s not fair,” she said, breaking down in tears.

She urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to fix the healthcare system and save lives. “Please don’t let this happen again,” she pleaded.

According to Hillary Makaya, a Zimbabwean model and friend of Mapanzure, a specialist ambulance from Harare was called but the private company demanded US$2,900 upfront, which was unaffordable for the family.

Critics accuse political elites of misappropriating funds that should be allocated to the health sector. They argue that the politicians show little concern for the healthcare system as they can afford to seek medical treatment abroad.

Mapanzure leaves behind a year-old son, Thomas Junior, his wife, Vimbai and a rich music catalogue. He rose to fame in 2017 after the release of his hit ‘Wapunza’ which has over four million views on YouTube.

Hundreds of people attended his funeral in Masvingo, wearing black and singing his songs in tribute to his life and legacy.

Man turns to court over abuse

By A Correspondent- A Harare man suffering from mental health challenges has approached the courts seeking a protection order against his two sisters accusing them of depressing him.

Gilbert Kahanda told Harare magistrate Nyasha Marufu last week that his two sisters — Alice and Josephine — were ill-treating him because he suffered from mental health challenges.

He accused them of allegedly hiding food, chasing him away from home and insulting him.

“My siblings harass me and insult me. They deny me access to food and chase me away from the family house in Harare,” he said, further claiming that he was once detained at Chawagona Prison and Parirenyatwa’s Annex Hospital thrice.

I am taking my medication diligently, Your Worship. However, they abuse me because I am ill,” he said.

The sisters, however, denied the accusations. Josephine told the court that her brother was defaulting on his medication.

“All he is saying are lies and he is not mentally stable. He has also been taking alcohol despite his condition,” she said.

Alice concurred with her elder sister telling the court that they were failing to contain their brother’s condition.

“The Annex hospital is closed for maintenance and at Harare Central Hospital they have poor security services. Therefore, it has been hard to help our brother and it’s getting worse,” she said.

Marufu told both parties to return to court on Friday for a ruling.-newsday

Man “hammered” over infidelity

By A Correspondent- In a society where the abuse of women receives significant attention, it is crucial to recognize that men can also fall victim to domestic abuse, a fact often overlooked. While the exact prevalence remains unknown due to limited research, it is evident that abuse against men is more common than previously thought.

A recent incident in Sihambene Village, Esibomvu area, under Chief Gwebu in Esigodini, Matabeleland South province, highlights the severity of this issue. Bongani Ncube, a 55-year-old man, narrowly escaped a tragic fate when his 42-year-old wife, Pretty Ncube, brutally attacked him following a heated dispute over alleged infidelity.

After enduring the vicious assault, Bongani, undeterred by shame or embarrassment, took the brave step of reporting the incident to the authorities, leading to Pretty’s subsequent arrest.

Appearing before Esigodini resident magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube, Pretty faced charges of physical abuse as defined under Section 3 (1) (a) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16. However, she was not required to enter a plea and was released on bail.

According to the events described, on October 3rd, around 11 am, Bongani was preparing to leave for his daily job when Pretty summoned him to the living room for a discussion. Once there, she began accusing him of having an extramarital affair, an accusation that Bongani vehemently denied.

The denial triggered an alarming response from Pretty, who grabbed a hammer and struck her husband forcefully in the face, specifically targeting his right eye. Continuing the assault, she head-butted him on the forehead, causing Bongani to collapse onto the floor in pain.

Unrelenting, Pretty then reached for an iron bar, striking Bongani’s back with a powerful blow. She proceeded to mount him, attempting to strangle him. Miraculously, Bongani managed to free himself from her grip and promptly sought help from the police, promptly reporting the harrowing ordeal. Subsequent investigations led to Pretty’s arrest.

As a result of the savage attack, Bongani suffered a swollen forehead and back pain, necessitating medical attention, which he received at a local hospital

Veteran Mutare Legislator Hangs Political Boots

Veteran opposition activist and former Mutare Central long-serving legislator Innocent Gonese has retired from active politics.

Gonese announced his retirement from politics in a private message to relatives over the weekend. He also confirmed the retirement to NewsDay in an interview yesterday.

Gonese said he had decided to focus on his law practice after 24 years in politics.

“I am reverting to being a private citizen and full time legal practitioner and human rights activist. In a normal country, I would be going into real retirement, but I still have to put food on the table and what I trained to do is to practice law and so be it,” he said in the message on Saturday.

“It also gives me more time to spend with the family and do my long distance running and occasionally hit the small white ball. In the future, time permitting, I will try to do a PhD and take up Arthur Mutambara’s challenge and write a book. But first things first, try to survive under challenging and difficult times.”

In April this year, Gonese and Mutasa Central legislator Trevor Saruwaka stepped down from contesting in the general elections despite being nominated as representatives of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

Gonese, a senior partner at Gonese and Ndlovu law firm, was the Movement for Democratic chief whip in the 8th and 9th Parliament of Zimbabwe.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of Zimbabwe in 1984, he later acquired a Master’s Degree in Human Rights, Peace and Development at Africa University in 2016.

Gonese joined Zimbabwe’s main opposition party MDC in 1999 and was elected Member of Parliament for Mutare Central in 2000 and re-elected in 2008, 2013 and 2018.

He was the MDC provincial secretary for legal and parliamentary affairs for Manicaland before assuming the same position in the party’s national executive between 2006 and 2011.

From 2009 to 2013, Gonese was a member of the Constitutional Parliamentary Committee on Constitution making, a multi-party committee which drafted a new Constitution of Zimbabwe which was passed into law in May 2013 after the national referendum of March 2013.

He was a member of the specialist committee, the Parliamentary Legal Committee, which examines constitutionality of laws presented to Parliament by the Executive.

He was also a member of the Parliamentary Liaison Co-ordination Committee and the Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Portfolio Committee.

Man hauled to court for stealing mining detector

By A Correspondent- A 35-year-old resident of Emakhandeni found himself in court facing accusations of stealing a mining detector valued at US$12,000.

Johnson Mungombwe, however, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa last Wednesday.

He was granted bail in the amount of US$60 and was scheduled for trial on October 25. As part of his bail conditions, Mungombwe was ordered to remain at his registered address until the case’s conclusion and report to the Luveve Police Station every two weeks between 6 am and 6 pm. Additionally, Maphosa issued an order for Mungombwe not to interfere with any witnesses involved in the case.

The complainant in this matter is identified as Lindiwe Mlilo. The State alleges that on May 12 of this year, Mungombwe, along with an accomplice named Nomore Mubinda, who remains at large, stole Mlilo’s mining detector. A police report was filed, leading to an investigation that resulted in Mungombwe’s arrest and the recovery of the stolen property.

Ignatius Chombo On His Way Back To Zanu PF

Former Cabinet minister, Ignatius Chombo has applied to be officially readmitted into Zanu PF following his expulsion from the party in 2017 at the height of the infamous ‘Operation Restore Legacy’, which ousted late former president Robert Mugabe.

Affectionately known as “Whitehead”, the once all-too-powerful bureaucrat likened to a prime minister, seems to be weaving his way back into the political limelight after the remaining of a slew of corruption, fraud and criminal abuse of office charges were quashed by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) a fortnight ago.

In the aftermath of NPA’s withdrawal of all charges against him, Chombo wrote to Zanu PF Mashonaland West Chairman, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, requesting that he be allowed back into the party.

His short letter dated October 10, 2023, seen by NewZimbabwe.com reads; “l write to you requesting to be admitted into the party following the five-year hiatus (2017—2023). Please let me know if you need more information…”

Last Friday, the Zanu PF Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) convened a meeting in Chinhoyi where the 71-year-old politician’s application was read and discussed with most attendees unanimously agreeing that the ex-minister should be given another chance to serve the revolutionary party.

Procedurally, this Sunday, Mliswa-Chikoka brought the communication for endorsement by the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) at its meeting held at Orange Grove Motel.

“The PEC sat on Friday and deliberated on the matter and saw nothing wrong in readmitting him into the party…,” Mliswa-Chikoka told delegates.

She then invited Justice Minister and Zanu PF Politburo member, Ziyambi Ziyambi, as Zvimba district senior representative, to give guidance on how to proceed with Chombo’s application as he hails from that area.

“As Zvimba district we looked at what has been the precedence across the country on expelled members and we found out that Mashonaland West was probably the only province which has not recommend anyone for readmission, and that’s not a good thing,” said Ziyambi.

He explained the readmission process saying now that PEC and PCC had ratified Chombo’s comeback, the recommendations will be forwarded to the National Disciplinary Committee and Politburo for final assessment and way forward.

“As Zvimba, we agreed that he was a helpful person who sponsored Zanu PF events and programmes (during his hiatus), and that his pending court cases were all cleared. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason to object to his readmission,” added Ziyambi.

Deputy provincial political commissar, Jackson Chizanga, also weighed in saying Chombo’s return would reinvigorate the party, which sentiments were echoed by Central Committee member Silas Chimbiro and former Chegutu West legislator, Dexter Nduna, among others.

Amid the glowing testimonials, Chombo’s estranged wife who is newly-installed Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Minister, Marian Chombo, was emotionless as she sat at the top table constantly fidgeting with her phone.

Ignatius and Marian parted ways in 2012 following a bitterly fought divorce case, which spilled into the courts.

Political commentators warn of a bruising battle for the Zvimba North parliamentary seat between the former husband and wife pair. Marian is the incumbent MP while Ignatius previously occupied the post for some time, and his return might spell doom for his ex-wife.

The former Cabinet minister, who by last month was only left with two charges of corruption which were withdrawn by Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, is now a free man after years with the yoke around his neck.

Three other cases which were before Magistrate Stanford Mambanje were withdrawn before plea in March.

Chombo served as Minister of Local Government, Public Works and Urban Development from 2000 to 2015 before his appointment as Home Affairs minister from 2015 to 2017.

His final dalliance with statecraft was when he was appointed Finance minister in 2017, before an inglorious exit from the post and dismissal from Zanu PF following the coup that ousted Mugabe.

Conductor kills passenger over torn US$1

By A Correspondent- The commuter omnibus conductor who allegedly killed a passenger by shoving him off a moving vehicle after they had a misunderstanding over a torn US$1 note now faces charges of murder.

The incident that occurred Friday night in Arcadia, Harare which resulted in the death of a passenger who was shoved off a moving vehicle by a conductor after a misunderstanding over a torn US$1 note has brought the behaviour of public transport conductors and drivers under the spotlight.

The commuting public was not amused with what transpired.

“What happened is infuriating because life is precious and there was no good reason for him to do that,” said a passenger.

“Conductors and drivers should learn to respect passengers. They will be drunk that is why they behave like that, something must be done,” said another passenger.

“As someone in the same trade we should learn to treat our passengers with respect,” said a commuter omnibus operator.

Another operator said, “It’s true, sometimes we will be drunk and easily get irritable but it’s not right to behave like animals.”

Court Acquits Former ZINARA Boss

By A Correspondent| Harare Regional Magistrate Don Ndirowei has acquitted former Zimbabwe National Road Administration Chief Executive Officer Matheline Mujokoro after she successfully applied for exception citing use of a repealed law.

Mujokoro was accused of flouting procurement procedures relating to the hiring of two security companies by the road authority.

Through her lawyer Admire Rubaya, Mujokoro applied for exception to the charge, arguing that she was being charged in terms of a repealed law.

It was argued that the offence alleged to have been committed on September 7 2018 when Mujokoro allegedly extended the contract for security services without the approval of the Procurement Regulatory Authority was not lawful.

Her lawyer argued that the regulations which promulgated the obligation in question were repealed and replaced by Statutory Instrument 5 of 2018 with effect from January 18 2018 meaning the offence was allegedly committed about eight (8) months after the repeal of the regulations which created the obligation to get approval through the review by the State Procurement Board.

It was argued that after the repeal, there was no duty that was supposed to be followed by Mujokoro in completed procurement proceedings as that duty had lapsed with the repeal of the regulations eight months prior to the date the allegations are alleged to have arisen.

He argued that the criminal charge under the circumstances was bad at law as it disclose no offence and that the court cannot be clothed with powers to ammend the law which it does not have.

“The criminal charges are under the circumstances is bad in law. No offence is disclosed. What is however, clear is that these criminal proceedings are in effect meant to resuscitate the law which is no longer in force consequent to an effective repeal,” Rubaya argued.

“There is no duty cast on a public officer or any other person to comply with the provisions of a repealed enactment unless the replacing enactment specifically says so.There cannot be abuse of a non-existing duty if one has regards that if a provision of the law is repealed it means that it no longer exists at law,” he added.

The defence further said charging and prosecuting a suspect with repealed law infringed on their rights as the constitution does not allow the law to be applied in retrospect.

“Reference is made to sections 70[1][i] and 70[1][k] of the constitution of the republic which clearly sets out that an accused person cannot be convicted of an act which was not an offence when it allegedly happened and one cannot be convicted of an act which is no longer an offence.”By the same reasoning a public officer cannot be prosecuted for criminally abusing a statutory duty in circumstances where the duty was only part of a repealed enactment.”he further argued.

The defence further argued that the State is not authorised to resurrect a law to prosecute a suspect.

“The State has no legal capacity to resuscitate provisions of a repealed law for purposes of prosecuting an accused person for an alleged offending misconduct which it alleged to have been committed way after the repeal of the enactment which is being relied on to form the gravamen of the charge of abuse of duty as a public officer,” Rubaya submitted.

Regional magistrate Don Ndirowei agreed with argument stating that the State cannot resuscitate a repealed law to prosecute Mujokoro.

“I’m persuaded by Mr Rubaya’s submission that the operation of procurement regulations ended on the 18th of January when SI5/2018 came into force on 19th of January 2018. In the circumstances, the provisions of section 26 (1) of the Procurement Regulations ceased to have effect on the date of repeal,” the court said. The court further ruled that there cannot be a duty a person can be said to have violated using a repealed law.”

I therefore agree with the defence’s submission that no duty could be said to have accrued to the Accused person on the basis of a repealed Statutory Instrument whose effect was not extended to after the repeal date.

“Therefore, in the absence of the Statutory duty as on the 7th of September 2018 in terms of section 26 (1) of the Procurement Regulations, 2012 which had already been repealed, there cannot be an abuse of duty as a public officer. There is no duty cast on a public officer or any other person to comply with the provisions of a repealed enactment unless the replacing enactment specifically says so,” the court ruled.

“This court associates itself in the reasoning above. It is therefore clear from the foregoing that the exception taken by the accused person cannot be said to be lacking merit,” the magistrate added.

With the defence having also tendered a plea of not guilty, the magistrate said Mujokoro was entitled to a verdict before declaring her not guilty and acquitted.

“The trip is being financed from private sources. The First Lady has not accepted the invitation yet, and it is mischievous to say that she invited herself to a program.

“Furthermore, the First Lady has a very busy schedule, and she has no time to respond to speculation. The First Lady’s team is not more than five people, so the fifty people talked about is just an imagination.

“The cooking competition puts the Zimbabwean culture on the world map, and it will be a great honour to have the First Lady promoting our culture through food. Hukama igasva. If you know, you know. I have not threatened Simba, but simply requested to meet him in a peaceful, brotherly, and friendly manner. Please put the record straight.”

Donkey milk for Zimbabwe’s shelves

By A Correspondent- Takuwa Natural Products, a Botswana-based company, is looking to establish a donkey milk value-addition production base in Zimbabwe.

While Zimbabwe has a large herd of donkeys mainly for draught power by farmers, the country generally does not consume any donkey milk or meat-related products. However, recent research studies suggest that donkey milk has wider natural health attributes that could be harnessed to enhance human health, especially the skin.

In an interview at the 2023 Global Expo Botswana, Takuwa Natural Products operations manager, Taolo Sesupo, said they viewed Zimbabwe as a strategic partner in growing their business. Since 2016, the company has been perfecting its systems and refining the products, which include natural donkey milk for human consumption, as well as a range of donkey milk soaps that are said to be effective in curing a variety of skin conditions.

According to Taolo, donkey milk does not contain any bacteria and is whiter with low fat content but tastes a little bit sweeter than cow’s milk. Their research has shown that donkey milk contains major amino acids that are good for the cardiovascular system, treatment of thrombosis and fighting colds. It is also rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish the skin and help maintain its elasticity. Donkey milk contains high levels of lysozyme, an enzyme with antimicrobial properties that may contribute to healthier skin. It is also believed to help soothe skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Takuwa Natural Products’ initiative is a step in the right direction towards creating an inclusive food industry that caters to all body types. Their products offer a natural alternative to traditional dairy products and are perfect for people who are lactose intolerant or have other dietary restrictions.

“We focus mainly on donkey milk products and natural herbs. For now we are into soaps and cosmetics. In recent years we’ve had huge interest for our products from different countries including Zimbabwe and South Africa. We have more requests on our website and social media to expand supplies to Zimbabwe.

“So, we want an investor or someone who can partner with us to actually make the products in Zimbabwe or export them locally to Zimbabwe. Should we find the raw materials in Zimbabwe, we can actually open another plant there to cater for the market in Zimbabwe and beyond,” he said.

Although donkey milk products are not prevalent in Zimbabwe or Africa as a whole, Taolo stated that their company has firmly advocated for the product due to its beneficial impact and health significance.

“We started our research around 2016, and did it for about two years as trial and error. We initially produced soap that didn’t have other properties and that’s why we later incorporated elements like crude aloe, and avocados so that we increase the nutritional content of the product.

We did this with the technical assistance from Dr Takuwa from the University of Botswana hence we named the products after him as a way of honouring him or praising him for the assistance he rendered.”

Dr David Tanyala Takuwa is a research scientist and specialist analytical chemist at the University of Botswana whose research inspired the company.

“Research has shown that our donkey milk products work so well on all skin types across races as it boosts immunity. Donkey milk has higher nutritional value such as amino acids and your omegas, which are good for the cardiovascular system as well as iron, calcium and potassium.

“These show that donkey milk has higher qualities that can help the body to be strong against common skin conditions.”

Taolo explained that part of his motivation for starting the firm was a desire to help his sister, who suffered from skin disorders that could not be addressed by any accessible store medicines, and doctors’ advice was also ineffective. He added that their study has revealed that some royal families utilised donkey milk for bathing in the past, proving that the commodity has medical properties for dealing with persistent skin disorders.

Taolo stated that the company has had a herd of donkeys since its inception, but it also relies on supply from smallholder farmers who keep the animals and profit from the initiative.

“We have been empowering farmers and communities through this. However, we are yet to process any donkey meat because we are concerned about the conservation side for now. Maybe in the next few years we will because we have done research to that effect,” he said.-statemedia

SADC Throws Chamisa Under The Bus

By- The Southern African Development Community (SADC) election observer mission (SEOM) has ignored fresh election calls by the opposition CCC and urged the political outfit to approach courts to resolve disputes from the August 2023 elections.

Zanu PF controls courts in Zimbabwe, and it would be a waste of time for the opposition to approach them with such issues.

In its final report on Zimbabwe’s August elections released on Thursday, 12 October 2023, the bloc said:

The SEOM calls for all concerned parties to ensure that any grievances with respect to the election results are channelled through the appropriate legal processes to ensure exhaustation of domestic legal remedies.

In terms of Section 11.8.2 of the Sadc guidelines, when SEOM publishes and officially submits the election reports, member States which held the elections may consider the recommendations advanced by the SEOM for improving the conduct of elections and submit to the chair of the organ, a response to the SEOM report.

Zanu PF accused Nevers Mumba, the head of the Sadc Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM), of being biased and sympathetic towards the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). This accusation came after an initial report by SEOM criticised the elections for lacking credibility and fairness. However, the final report from Sadc observers praised political parties for maintaining peace despite the disputed nature of the election. Read the report:

The SEOM noted that … some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021).

The SEOM commends political leaders for spreading the messages of peace and non-violence throughout the electoral cycle.

The recommendation is a blow to the CCC, which has been advocating for fresh elections overseen by an impartial organisation such as SADC, the African Union, or the United Nations, instead of the perceived biased Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC). The party points to irregularities observed by local and international observers as the reason for calling for fresh elections. The CCC contends that ZANU PF, in collaboration with ZEC, manipulated the results, particularly in the presidential election, to favour President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Zimbabwe to revert to local currency

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that Zimbabwe will revert to the use of the local currency as the sole legal tender and dump the multi-currency regime to accelerate economic growth.

According to Statutory Instrument (SI) 118A of 2022, the local currency and a basket of foreign currencies shall be in use until December 2025.

The SI which introduced the multi-currency regime is titled Presidential Powers (Temporary Measures) (Amendment of Exchange Control Act) Regulations 2022.

Addressing delegates to the 9th CEO Africa Roundtable Conference in Victoria Falls on Thursday, 12 October, Mnangagwa said the country should revert to the exclusive use of the local currency even if it may cause suffering for some time. The Chronicle quoted him as saying:

In 2009, our domestic currency collapsed and our former President Mugabe appointed a committee of five people which I chaired to look into the currency issue.

We agreed that for us to survive we had to create a basket of currencies and allow our currency to die.

It could have been a wrong decision but that is what happened in 2009. We allowed the basket of currencies and that saved the economy, and we went in that situation for a long time.

So, we decided to introduce our own currency but still our currency continues to be fought.

However, we have to go through this cycle where as a country we must have a currency that we call our own.

We must bite the bullet, whether it gives us some suffering for a period, we shall proceed to have our own currency, not a situation where the economy has a regime of currencies in use, we want a single currency and we are going there.

Mnangagwa made the remarks while responding to participants at the 9th CEO Africa Roundtable Conference who inquired about the way forward in view of the projected expiry of the multi-currency regime in 2025.

Reports indicate that the US dollar now accounts for over 76 percent of domestic transactions.

Senior officer in soup over fraud

By A Correspondent- A senior education officer employed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Mashonaland Central province was on Friday arraigned before the courts facing fraud allegations.

Lorain Marodza (42) employed as an Adminstrative Officer  allegedly forged documents to claim Travel and Subsistence allowance amounting to $995.

She appeared before Bindura magistrates courts on Friday and was granted US$200 bail by magistrate Samantha Dhlamini.

The state led by Carson Kundiona alleged sometime last year in December the accused submitted Travel and Subsistence allowance papers for a journey she did not undertake.

She also  by passed the chief accountant and the provincial education officer who are responsible for approving   such transactions.

However due to lack of funds, the money was not paid and the anomaly was discovered this year in February when the Senior accountant was re doing the previous year’s payments

“Whilst the Chief Accountant was allocating funds to individual documents, she noticed some anomalies on the accused’s Travelling and Subsistence allowance claim forms. She also discovered that she has not checked the schedule of the payment that was forwarded to the head office in the 2022 fiscal year without her knowledge and approval by the Acting Provincial Education Director”, the court heard.

Garry Mapanzure’s Death Exposes Mnangagwa

By- The echoes of grief and loss reverberate through Zimbabwe’s music community as it mourns the tragic passing of the soulful singer, Garry Mapanzure, who was taken from us far too soon at the tender age of 25.

The country’s local music scene is shrouded in sorrow, grappling with the sudden loss of this talented artiste who touched hearts with his soulful tunes.
News of Mapanzure’s untimely demise surfaced after a fatal car accident that sent shockwaves throughout the nation. It was a dark Thursday night along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Highway when the heartbreaking incident unfolded. Mapanzure was a passenger in a vehicle that tragically veered into the Clipsham Views residential area, colliding with another car from Beitbridge.
The tragic collision also took the life of Mapanzure’s nephew, a heart-wrenching loss that left an indelible scar on his family.
The artiste’s death comes as a painful addition to an already sombre time for Zimbabwe, following the recent loss of Juliet Kadungure, the sister of the late Ginimbi, who met her fate in a devastating bus accident on the 10th of October.
Mapanzure was a rising star, his music resonating with fans through its soulfully charged lyrics, captivating rhythms, and melodies that wrapped around the soul. He began to carve his path in the music world with the hit Wapunza in 2017, a track that showcased his undeniable talent and unique style.

His journey was further enriched by his involvement in Me Eazy’s emPawa Africa project, where he was selected as one of the continent’s emerging talents, with his song Slow becoming a part of this esteemed initiative.
Mapanzure’s music wasn’t merely entertainment; it was a reflection of his soul, a testament to his artistry, and an expression of the emotions he poured into every note. His untimely departure leaves a void in the local music landscape, but his melodies will forever linger in the hearts of his faithful fans and fellow artistes.

ZEC Speaks On Fresh Elections Claims

By-The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has disowned a statement circulating on social media claiming the commission declared the elections held on August 23rd and 24th, 2023, invalid and called for a new election without ZEC’s participation. The said statement was attributed to ZEC Chief Elections Officer, Utjoile Silaigwana. It read:

We acknowledge the contents of the final SADC SEOM report on the recent elections in Zimbabwe. One of the key contents of the report section 12.3 (b). We admit to the violation of the Electoral Act that bars us (ZEC) from employing individuals closely related to senior government officials or that of senior ZANU PF leaders.

To that effect we also admit this compromised the ZEC institution as a whole and influenced the result of the elections.

We therefore declare the elections held on the 23rd and 24th of August 2023 null and void and call for a fresh election to be held without our (ZEC) involvement.

ZEC said the statement must be dismissed with the contempt it deserves. Said the electoral body:

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission would like to inform the public that the notice purportedly issued by the Chief Elections Officer circulating on social media declaring elections of the 23rd and 24th of August 2023 as null and void is FAKE! ZEC has issued no such statement and dismisses it with the contempt it deserves. The public is advised to disregard the said statement!

The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is demanding fresh elections due to alleged irregularities in the previous harmonised elections held on August 23, 2023. The reported irregularities include ballot mix-ups, voter intimidation, biased state media, and the banning of opposition rallies. The CCC calls for independent bodies like SADC, the African Union, or the United Nations to oversee future elections, as they accuse the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) of favouring the ruling ZANU PF party and manipulating results in their favour. However, ZANU PF maintains that elections will only take place in 2028.

Cholera Claims 135 Lives In Zimbabwe

BIKITA — Zimbabwe’s cholera outbreak has now claimed 135 lives (31 confirmed deaths, 104 suspected) and infected nearly 5,000 people across the country.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care reported 48 new suspected cases, three suspected deaths, and three confirmed results on Friday, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 4,908, confirmed cases to 958, and recoveries to 4,659.

The national recovery rate stands at 97%, while 73 patients remain hospitalized.

Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora expressed deep concern over the situation and urged the public to remain vigilant and practice good hygiene.

He said the government was working with various partners to provide adequate resources and expertise to contain the outbreak.

He also emphasized the need for public awareness and swift action to prevent further spread of the disease.

“We are facing a grave situation, and the public must remain informed about the dangers of cholera. It is essential to prioritize hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing with soap, and to ensure that all water sources are clean and safe to consume,” Mombeshora stated.

Cholera is an easily preventable waterborne disease that causes severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. It is spread through contaminated water or food and can be fatal if not treated promptly.

The outbreak has been attributed to the poor sanitation and water supply systems in many urban areas, as well as the lack of preparedness and response capacity of the country’s fragile health system.

Manicaland province, which borders Mozambique, has recorded the highest number of cases – more than 2,000 – according to Friday’s cholera situation report. The government says it has increased cholera surveillance at ports of entry to detect any imported infections.

Other areas such as Bikita in Masvingo province have been declared high-risk zones. In Buhera district, large gatherings have been banned and strict measures have been imposed on funerals to limit the transmission of the disease.

“We are concerned that there is an outbreak. We need to step up our action,” said Public Health Advisor to the President and Cabinet, Agnes Mahomva.

However, some residents have expressed frustration and dissatisfaction with the government’s response, saying it has been slow and inadequate.

Jane Chigumba, a resident of Harare, said she was disheartened by the loss of lives and the lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities. She said she had been dealing with these problems for years and hoped for a lasting solution.

“It’s disheartening to see so many lives affected and lost due to inadequate access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities,” Chigumba said.

MaShurugwi Arrested For Killing Colleague

SHURUGWI – Magistrate Sithabile Zungula remanded two gold miners in custody until October 25, 2023, for allegedly committing murder by stabbing their colleague three times over a dispute involving 16 grams of gold.

Oliver Ncube, a 22-year-old from Gokwe, and Munyaradzi Marufu, a 25-year-old from Zvishavane, are presently receiving medical attention at Shurugwi District Hospital. They were assaulted by other miners for purportedly stabbing Evince Mapfumo. The occurrence took place at Nduku Mine on Tuesday evening at around 5 pm.

The circumstances indicate that the trio engaged in mining activities together at the same mine. On Monday, they managed to extract a total of 16 grams of gold.

However, it appears that Marufu and Ncube disappeared without equitably sharing their yield with Mapfumo… www.masvingomirror.com

Former School Head Guns For Chieftainship

MASVINGO – Siyano Machaya is no longer Chief Nyamandi and whatever he says and does is null and void because his acting period ended four years ago in 2019, one of the family elders and former Helen McGhie head Hebert Horuno Nyamandi Zengeya has said.

Zengeya said the 24 families that are heir to the Nyamandi throne sat and selected the new chief Zvagara Masunda in 2021 and that result was endorsed by Government.

He said Masunda was selected in the presence of the District Development Co-ordinator and is therefore chief of the Nyamandi people.

Zengeya, a no nonsense man and one of the best school heads to come out of this country charged in an interview with The Mirror that Machaya is an illegal chief who hangs in the position to serve Zanu PF Lovemore Matuke’s political interests.

He attacked Machaya for refusing his subjects food along political lines and described him as a shame to the people of Nyamandi.

Asked for comment, Machaya said he does not care what the 24 houses of Nyamandi say or think about him because chiefs are now selected and appointed by President Mnangagwa.

“I don’t care about those 24 Nyamandi houses. They don’t matter at all. The chief is now selected and appointed by the President,” said Machaya.

The law allows a chief to act for a maximum of two years after the death of his father. Machaya has been acting for six years following the death of his father, Kokerai Machaya in 2017.

When contacted for comment Matuke, said he had nothing to do with chiefs. In another story last week Machaya said he agreed with Matuke to refuse CCC supporters Government food aid…

RBZ’S FIU Pounces On Car Dealers After Freeing GoldMafia Crooks

Discrepancies in Money Laundering Crackdown Reveal Selective Enforcement

Recent actions taken by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to intensify surveillance on suspected money laundering activities in the car dealership industry have ignited a debate over the government’s commitment to combating financial crimes.

While the FIU’s efforts to target potential money laundering activities within the car dealership sector have garnered attention, many are now questioning the government’s motives and the apparent selectivity in their enforcement actions. This stems from the contrasting treatment of smaller players and major figures involved in alleged money laundering, particularly those associated with the so-called “gold mafia.”

FIU director-general, Mr. Oliver Chiperesa, revealed that Zimbabwe is losing a substantial amount, estimated to be between US$1 billion and US$1.5 billion annually, to money laundering schemes. The decision to focus on car dealerships as potential money laundering hotspots raised eyebrows as there are no international standards specifically targeting this sector.

What has raised concerns is the apparent imbalance in the government’s approach to money laundering enforcement. While small car dealers face heightened scrutiny, several high-profile individuals connected to the alleged “gold mafia” have seemingly evaded the same level of accountability.

Critics argue that by concentrating efforts on small money laundering operations while seemingly letting off individuals implicated in larger, more significant financial crimes, the government’s actions may lack transparency and fairness.

The absence of an official register for car dealers, as highlighted by Mr. Chiperesa, signifies the need for an improved regulatory framework within the car dealership industry. However, the perceived contrast in government action on money laundering issues has sparked a debate over whether such regulatory efforts are equally applied across the board.

President Chamisa Exposes Tshabangu

Tinashe Sambiri

CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said CCC does not have the post of Secretary General.

Addressing the media in Harare on Wednesday, President Chamisa accused Zanu PF of clandestinely plotting to destroy the citizens’ movement.

According to President Chamisa, CCC is a structureless structure.

“We are a structureless structure, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, you can’t just receive a letter from planet Mars and effect recalls, we have not recalled anybody.

We don’t even know the impostor, in essence he is a fraudster, we know Zanu PF is behind the shenanigans.

Stay away from CCC, hands off CCC, this is a citizens movement; you don’t just wake up one day from the streets in a drunken stupor to say I’m so and so,” said President Chamisa.

” In this movement, we do not have the position of secretary general. We have different roles and tasks.

In this movement, we don’t give each other positions but we give each other tasks.

Nobody can just wake up and recall our candidates.

In fact, it is a Zanu-PF scheme … Zanu-PF is using certain people purporting to be CCC, who are not even in our books in terms of membership registry, “added the CCC leader.

” We are taking decisive action to end the circus. The political situation in the country is deteriorating with each passing day, which is a sad scenario, ” President Chamisa said.

Mighty Warriors Hit By S*x Scandal

Zambia beat Zimbabwe 1-0 to progress to the final of the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The semifinal clash took place at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Friday afternoon.

Coach Shadreck Mlauzi was not on the Mighty Warriors bench and watched the game from the stands.

Assistant coach Yohane Chikaola took charge of the team, together with another assistant, Sithethelelwe Sibanda.

There was also controversy in the Mighty Warriors camp ahead of the semifinal clash following allegations of sexual misconduct by an unnamed male technical team member on a player.

Zimbabwe made an early press and created a few attacks.

The Copper Queens soon settled and took the game to their opponents as they started to retain more possession.

They came close to goal twice inside the first ten minutes through Evarine Katongo and Sarah Jere’s efforts.

The Mighty Warriors tried to push forward but struggled to creat any meaningful chance in the following moments.

Zambia opened the scoring six minutes into the second half through Jere’s beautiful solo effort.

The defending champions almost doubled the lead towards the hour after creating two big chances.

The first attempt came from Susan Banda and it crashed against post.

The other one was from a free-kick and was superbly saved by Cynthia Shonga.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, registered just a single goal attempt in the second period when Maud Mafuruse’s long range strike was saved by the keeper.

The game ended in favour of Zambia, who got the passage through to the final.-Soccer24 News

Bitter Mutsvangwa Attacks CCC

ZANU PF PRESS BRIEF BY NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON C. MUTSVANGWA

Live @ ZANU PF HQ

Director of Information and Publicity Cde Farai Marapira introduces the ZANU PF National Secretary for Information and Publicity and hands over the platform to Cde Mutsvangwa.

Cde Mutsvangwa

We won in a peaceful election and we are now focusing on governance. We are happy that we are getting more and more support. Legitimacy was decided by the electorate. We are dismayed by events of boycotting parliament. Events in Parliament have nothing to do with ZANU PF. Parliament is an arm of the state which is independent.

The events which caused a lot of mayhem in Parliament where CCC went out of parliament about letters of recall by a member of CCC. They have not disputed that he is a member of CCC. He informed the clerk of Parliament who in compliance with the constitution had to act accordingly. The letter came from a member who holds an office in the CCC.

CCC wants to shift blame on the clerk of Parliament, he is not the originator of the letter, he is just acting according to the letter. The CCC finds itself in a predicament. If you let lawlessness take hold of your party thinking that it will attack your enermies one day the lawlessness will affect your party. In CCC we have a party leader who ascended to power through a coup in Buhera. Because of his insecurity he can not call for a Congress he fears to have structures because he knows someone will take over. Rave donga watonga. One does not know who is doing what. His rivals are conspiring against him. This is an internal matter within CCC. It’s unlike us here we have structures. In ZANU PF no one just wakes up and writes a letter recalling people. We don’t demonstrate in the streets against our own errands we take then to the laws of this country.

Instead CCC should go to the courts to address their internal rebellion. They want to aportion the rebellion to the speaker or the President.

ZANU PF does not thrive on a divided opposition. We want opposition in Parliament we can not be seen to undermine the opposition that we want to compete against during elections. Who are we as ZANU PF to challenge what the people would have said. We want constructive debates in Parliament. Its not good for democy to have chaos but the chaos here is home grown. Chamisa accepted to the wapusa wapusa where anyone just do what they want. He said we want to disorganised ourselves in order to hide from the state. Now the strategy ambiguity is eating on him. He thought it will destroy ZANU PF but it is consuming him.

The chaos in CCC has been confirmed by its senior people, the likes of Biti and Chamisa and also their influential followers have also acknowledged that there is crisis within the CCC.

We want to urge the CCC to first address their house before attacking the speaker. This comes after CCC tried to a abuse SADC through sending Nevers Mumba who wanted to instruct heads of state on what to do about Zimbabwe elections. CCC sends their delegation to SADC the likes of Gladys Hlatshwayo and Jameson Timba. Chamisa wanted to bulldoze his way through elected heads of state on what to do. Who are you Chamisa to tell Heads of States on what to do. Chamisa is now trying to create local shenanigans in order to say there is a crisis in Zimbabwe. Chamisa is a dictator within CCC and wants the country to be run along the way he runs his Party. He is playing to the gallery of Western Capitals.

CCC wanted to announce their own results using equipment they received from EU. If the EU wants Chamisa to win they must have funded the urban centers of Harare where CCC runs inorder to make them winners.

Why doesn’t EU fund development of towns here if they want their CCC to win. All CCC gets from the EU is money for subversion. They want to fund them when they are at State House. The town’s are now affected by cholera in our cities run by the opposition. We expect the EU to Provide funding to their CCC to eradicate cholera. We are here to categorically state that we are not involved in the wapusa wapusa party. We are busy developing the country. Boycott but who was in Parliament today, the CCC was in Parliament despite their boycotting talk.

Parliament is not a place to chose what you want to take and not to take what you don’t want. Chamisa through his boycott talk is trying to buy back his way to parliament through a back door. This kind of behaviour is not proper for a man who aspires to lead Zimbabwe. He wants direct talks with President Mnangagwa which the President does not ordinarily have problems but he wants his engagement with the President to fight his internal wars with Biti and Welshman. The way he runs CCC is the way he wants to engage the President behind darkness. He wants to strike a deal with the President behind the back of his colleagues. The President says I can’t help you to deal with your internal squabbles.

Chamisa wants to draw our President into a similar scheme where there is a conspiracy with his other colleagues. He wants to strike a deal in the dark. The President is saying don’t abuse me to solve your problems come in the open. CCC should use their internal systems to deal with their problems. They should also be vigilant not to allow people not authorised to write letters. If the letters get to parliament they must go to courts rather than appealing to EU or SADC. We want to work well with EU. We appreciate the EU as an economic partner we would want to engage on all aspects including debt relief. If they want Chamisa to be President they should work now for 2028. They should begin now to send development funds to CCC run councils so that the electorate can vote for them.

The EU must send Party organisers to CCC so that we don’t have a wapusa wapusa party. It looks like organising theory is absent in the head of Chamisa. It is a donga watonga party. Surprisingly the CCC is full of lawyers. They should send lecturers to Chamisa or send him for two months in Europe for experience of all European parties. He needs Party building course 101 to make him vigilant against illegal letters to parliament to deal with internal rebellion. President Chamisa Humiliates Tshabangu

Tinashe Sambiri

CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has said the party does not have the post of Secretary General.

MaShurugwi Kill Colleague Over 16 Grams Of Gold

Mighty Warriors Fall

Mutsvangwa Claims Zanu PF Has Nothing To Do With CCC Battles

We are revolutionary parties in SADC we know how slavery and colonialism has affected us, we are vigilant Chamisa can not abuse SADC. The EU wants Chamisa to win on the day of election. The EU should start now to educate their Chamisa on political organisation before 2028.

Unlike the EU the Chinese are partnering us, sending their investors here and building infrastructure so that the people vote for ZANU PF. China clothes ZANU PF for the battle, the EU should do the same for the CCC inorder for them to be voted.

Jacob Mudenda Full IPU Interview Over Abusing Nelson Chamisa’s MPs

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: This interview by Simba Chikanza (SC) with Adv Jacob Mudenda was recorded partly on audio and the rest on video. It began with Simba Chikanza showing Adv Mudenda his official name badge presenting himself as a journalist doing research over the Interparliamentary Union (The Union of all parliaments around the world).

Adv Mudenda was happy doing the brief interview which later became heated over the last question.

SC: Many of the things that are coming on Zimbabwe; right now, I have just met some Tanzanians who were criticising us, heavily, just here.

Well, we are being told that we are now 7 times worse, more, than when we were during Robert Mugabe times. I think that is one matter that I am going to need a short engagement with you Sir.

Mudenda: There are exigencies (sic)

SC: Excuse me?

Mudenda: There are exigencies (sic)

SC: Let me just, while we are, let me just get a picture with you if you don’t mind Sir.

SC: Right, where are we here? Right so, here. Meeting Advocate Mudenda.
Mudenda: Thank you.

SC: You seem to have forgotten me, I don’t know why.

Mudenda: Yeah, I am trying to recollect.

SC: Splendid. Looking forward, I will be with you shortly.

Mudenda: Yeah

SC: Thank you Sir.

Mudenda: Someone will be joining me soon.

SC: Oh, someone will be joining you?

Mudenda: Yes.

SC: Okay, so someone will be joining you. Okay. So what I will do maybe, once they come maybe, I will go away. I am just having a very light one.

Mudenda: Okay.

SC: Oh, thank you Sir. Yeah, the criticism against us is very scathing, it is very heavy, this gentleman from Tanzania who was saying he runs an NGO, and works between Uganda and Tanzania, and he says your country is now 7 times worse than when Robert Mugabe.

Mudenda: What reasons does he give?

SC: Err, we didn’t go into deep, we didn’t get deeper than that, other than him saying the conduct of both government and institutions. He alleges the judiciary as well, and parliament and he mentioned specifically the withdrawal of allowances.

Sir. Ndokutorerai (shall I get you a ) chair?

SC: Sir, the withdrawal of allowances Advocate Mudenda, that has extremely, extremely criticised yourself. On what basis. You have here a topic, local and international policy analysts here, they say you have caused the deterioration of parliament, and.
Mudenda: I have what?

SC: You have made parliament to deteriorate. The value of parliamentarianism is, should be.
Mudenda: Into what?

SC: You are now a spokesman of a military cartel rather than parliament. And in this case Advocate Mudenda, you have a discussion, a topic, that you yourself, you allowed into parliament, you brought this discussion, and that is the 1 August brutality. It is clear even ZBC broadcast this.

Mudenda: (nod and sound in affirmation).

SC: They broadcast this, announcement that the military would be used to change 2018 election results.

Mudenda: (nod and sound in affirmation).

Mudenda: Yes

SC: The same MPs who are meant to be part of your own parliament Advocate Mudenda, they are part of your parliament. And you are the one who allowed this discussion to get into. You allowed it to be discussed.

Mudenda: No, you see the members of parliament have threatened to go to court, so that matter is subjudice.

SC: Sorry?

Mudenda: The matter is subjudice and I am not discussing that.

SC: Because they have threatened to go to court?

Mudenda: Yeah I’m not discussing that.

SC: But then, Sir, aren’t you concerned?

Mudenda: I am not discussing that.

SC: Aren’t you concerned?

Mudenda: I am not discussing that. I am not discussing that.

SC: That we have a clear matter.

Mudenda: I am not discussing that.

SC: You talked about a threat Sir, you talked about a threat advocate.

Mudenda: I am not discussing that.

SC: You talked about a threat.

Mudenda: Can you stop it. Alright?

SC: Advocate, Advocate, a crime is being committed right now. People are dying.

Mudenda: Go to court. Go to court.

SC: Go to court where? People are dying right now in Zimbabwe advocate.

Mudenda: I am not.

SC: I have got; I have got victims of 1 August.

Mudenda: Can you also respect my point of view. Alright?

SC: Do you also respect the people who are suffering, Sir? Do you respect the victims who still have bullets in their bodies, Sir…the victims who still have bullets in their bodies right now?

Mudenda: Can you stop it. Alright. Can you stop it.

SC: Advocate, Advocate, you are the highest you are the most respected person in Zimbabwe you are here to represent parliamentarianism. What parliamentarianism is. You are the person we refer to; we respect you sir. We respect you. And I’ve come to you to ask you about this thing which we are being criticised for; our nation is being criticised right here, Sir.

Mudenda: Can you still stop it. This is not the forum.

SC: Why is it not the forum Sir?

Mudenda: Can you stop it.

SC: But you are the Speaker of Parliament.

Mudenda: Can you stop it. Haaah.

SC: I have got people who are crying I have got victims. Are you concerned that you are no longer the Speaker of Parliament you are now the Speaker of a military cartel?

Mudenda: Can you stop it.

SC: Stop what advocate, stop what?

Mudenda: Can you stop it.

SC: Stop what?

Mudenda: Can you stop it.

SC: But you are destroying our country. You are destroying a whole community. You are right now, even the perception of our nation (sic) Advocate Mudenda.
Are you happy that parliamentarianism has been violated advocate Mudenda? Tell me.

Mudenda: [NO RESPONSE]
So you are not willing to address concerns about parliamentarianism, you are here to represent parliamentarianism and you are mentally torturing MDC MPs adding to the physical torture to victims of violence on 1 August which was done to change election results and this was broadcast on the ZBC. Advocate Mudenda, you are a respected man. You are the highest, the most respected person Sir.
Mudenda: Can you slow down so I can eat.

SC: I shall slow down, but I hope you realise here, that I have got people who are dying, there is a crime that is being committed.

Mudenda: Can I have my breakfast?

SC: You can sir, you can sir, I shall wait.

A crime is being committed Advocate.

Mudenda: Can you move off can you move off.

SC: I am not Sir.

I have got a legitimate criminal concern here, a legal concern sir;
I have got a legitimate legal concern.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN – MUDENDA’S AIDE TRAVELED WITH HIM FROM ZIMBABWE:
Sorry sorry I thought I had given you enough time.
SC: No you can’t do this.

SC: Advocate Mudenda people are dying right now people are dying right now and you are mentally torturing MDC MPs. On what basis do you withdraw their allowances for 5-months merely because they are expressing what you brought before Parliament?
Mudenda: Can you move out.

SC: I am here I am not going to move out I am a guest here and I am also; I am very much here; I am very much here; but I will wait on you because this is important, because you are an employee; you are a civil servant Sir; you are a civil servant. This is your job. This is your job, to be accountable to members of the public; to the international community; to prove that you’re doing the job of a speaker of Parliament not a speaker of a military cartel advocate Mudenda.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN:
No you cannot shut me I’m going to slow down I will allow him to eat but I’m not going to leave here. I am here I am a guest here; I am an invitee to this conference where you are as well; Thank you.

This is a legal matter, it is also a criminal matter; I am waiting here.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN:
I think the honorable speaker has come here to have something to eat.

SC: Yes I will wait for him. I will wait for him Sir
As you can see I have withdrawn, I have withdrawn, I was sitting there when you are sitting so now I have moved away now so we will wait sir. I have got Zimbabweans who are waiting across inside Zimbabwe and around the world. They’re waiting; this is the most respected person; The highest person in the country in Zimbabwe next to Emmerson Mnangagwa.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN:
So why are you shouting?

SC: I am not shouting I am waiting sir.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN:
I think it is more about threatening than anything.

SC: What threat did you hear? What threat did you hear there?

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN: I haven’t heard.

SC: No no no. Please don’t be unreasonable what threat did you hear here? What threat did you hear tell me, can you justify what you said.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN:
Know what I am simply saying you know when you are talking on top of your voice if you really want to interview you the Speaker you should interview in a manner that is (sic).

SC: According to your allegations I am quiet. Thank you.

UNKNOWN/ UNNAMED MAN: Thank you.
POLICE ARE THEN SUMMONED IN AND DISRUPT THE INTERVIEW. THEY ASK QUESTIONS AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES THEY ANNOUNCE THAT THERE IS NO CASE AND WALK AWAY FROM MUDENDA.

Newly Appointed Parly Committee On Higher And Tertiary Education Trashes Modular Learning

By A Correspondent| Newly appointed parliamentary committee on higher and tertiary education chairperson Fadzayi Mahere has trashed the recently introduced modular learning in universities saying it is a recipe for disaster and a disservice to students who will be forced to learn a module and write examinations within three weeks.

Posting on X, Mahere who is the legislator for Mt Pleasant constituency as a law student and lecturer, she understands the impossibility of teaching a module in three weeks.

“I have been a law student. I practise law. I have taught law. It’s not possible to teach even the most basic law subject, the Law of Contract, in three weeks. Modular learning is doing a disservice to students and will produce graduates who aren’t competitive in the job market or internationally. It needs to be reviewed urgently” said Mahere.

Meanwhile, the tertiary education students have hailed the appointment of Mahere to chair the higher and tertiary education committee saying they hope she will spearhead academic liberties and well being of students in campuses.

“Congratulations Fadzai Mahere @advocatemahere on your appointment as Chairperson of the Committee for Higher & Tertiary Education in Parliament. With your astute leadership, I am confident that this committee will spearhead the Students Union’s relentless quest for academic liberties & the well-being of students in campuses throughout Zimbabwe. Kudos,” posted ZINASU representative Boris Muguti.

OPINION: Zimbabwe Needs All of Us, Not Just Chamisa

By Eddie Mahembe, PhD.
11 October 2023.

Yesterday I posted a tweet on my X(formerly Twitter) page and it attracted a lot of discussions on how #Zimbabwe ?? can finally realise a democratic breakthrough.

Many people expressed their frustrations with Nelson Chamisa. Today’s post tries to address some of the issues raised in some of discussions and feedback I received.

I understand that some are blaming Nelson Chamisa out of frustration. And as a leader, he definitely has to account to the voters and his supporters.

However, the point I’m making is that this frustration did not start today.

Like I highlighted in yesterday’s (10 Oct 2023) tweet:

  • The generation our grand parents blamed Joshua Nkomo.
  • Our parents blamed Edgar Tekere.
  • Our brothers blamed Morgan Tsvangirai.
  • We are blaming Nelson Chamisa.

When would it become clear to us that we are blaming victims instead of blaming the oppressor?

There is no opposition leader who will be good enough to fight the entire state machinery, on their own.

Chamisa needs help, not blame.

Is he perfect? Definitely, No. But he is NOT the problem.

Chamisa is strategically positioned to be a significant part of the solution. Zimbabwe needs him at this point in time.

This democratic project needs the new Desmond Tutus who fought alongside ANC but without being members.

We don’t need to have membership cards of CCC to fight for FREEDOM and the DEVELOPMENT of our motherland, Zimbabwe ??

We need school children like those who fought hard in what is now the Sharpeville Massacre in South Africa ??

The real problem is that most #Zimbabweans who want change have subcontracted the struggle to Chamisa.

Where are the Desmond Tutus of Zimbabwe?

Where is the church when the rights of women and children are being abused?

Where are the youths and school children?

Where are the professionals?

Where are the teachers when the schools are being destroyed?

Where are the nurses and doctors when the clinics and hospitals are being run to the ground?

Where are you parents when your children are jobless and resorting to drugs?

Where are you business people when the economy is being destroyed together with key infrastructure?

If we don’t unite for the common cause, ZANU PF will continue to divide us through crude rhetoric, propaganda and manipulation.

What we want is FREEDOM (DEMOCRACY) and DEVELOPMENT (PROSPERITY).

It’s clear that ZANU PF has failed on this front.

We all need an inclusive, democratic and developmental Zimbabwe ??

We all need a Zimbabwe ?? that works for everyone, not just a few connected to ZANU PF!

We all have a role in making this vision possible!

Kwekwe Men Arrested For Sodomy Turn Tables On State

TWO Kwekwe men who are jointly accused of staying together as a couple and having anal sexual intercourse before a fallout, are now seeking to quash the charges.

James Mapawa (40) and Praise Mpofu (25) are being jointly charged with sodomy after reportedly staying together for three months.

Mapawa reported the matter to the police after discovering that Mpofu was a man.

The two had reportedly met in June after Mapawa proposed love to Mpofu who was dressed and pretended to be a woman.

But after staying together for two months, Mapawa claimed that he was not aware that his partner was male and reported the matter to police.

The two were however jointly charged with sodomy, charges which they are seeking to quash.

The two appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Itai Kagwere facing sodomy charges and were released on $100 000 bail each.

In its initial outline the State alleges that “on 7 September around 11PM, Mapawa came to Kwekwe Central police station reporting that they had a misunderstanding between him and Mpofu over an issue that Mpofu was male not female since they had stayed together for as a couple for two months as husband and wife and had anal sexual intercourse.”

Through their lawyer, Artwel Chinamatira of Masawi and Partners, Mapawa is now denying ever making such a report to the police.

“The averments are thus intended to embarrass Mapawa and prejudice his defense that he never engaged in sodomy as alleged. The two had a misunderstanding over something else and they never had anal sexual intercourse as alleged or at all,” read part of the affidavit.

The two challenged the State to outline alleged facts and not alleged confessions which are being denied by the accused person.

“Clearly, if the State outline contains an averment that Mapawa reported that he had anal sexual intercourse with Mpofu, this is highly prejudicial to both accused who are denying the same. The State outline must allege facts and not alleged confessions which confessions the accused persons deny,” further wrote Chinamatira.

The State should use facts, not allegations made by Mapawa.

“A duty to prove one’s guilt rests squarely and fairly on the shoulder of the State. It should allege and prove its own case without making reference to alleged utterances or reports from the accused persons,” he wrote.

Wherefore, Chinamatira prayed that the State outline be quashed.

“The averments contained in the State outline will prejudice the accused’s defense to the effect that they never stayed as husband and wife as alleged, they never engaged in anal sexual intercourse and that Mapara never reported a case of sodomy as alleged,” wrote Chinamatira.

In a shocking case of bestiality, a 43-year-old herdboy from Togotsvebo Village in Mphoengs, Matabeleland South province chillingly confessed to his “sadistic sexual interest” in animals when he was charged with raping two goats leading to one of them dying during the horrifying act.

Appearing before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware, Njabulo Moyo pleaded guilty to bestiality as defined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

He was, however, saved from the agony of jail life when he was sentenced to pay a fine of $200 or one month in prison in default of payment.

In addition two months imprisonment were wholly suspended for a period of five years on condition Moyo does not within that period commit any offence of which bestiality is an element for which upon conviction he will be sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine.

Moyo however, made an appalling revelation when he said he had engaged in sex with goats because they satisfied his sex urge.

“I don’t know what was happening, I just found myself doing it with the goats because they satisfied my sex demand. I am sorry for what I did,” Moyo apologised.

The magistrate however, expressed profound dismay, describing Moyo’s act as “grotesque cruelty,” adding that the horrifying consequences led to the death of one of the goats.

He said it was the “highest form of animal cruelty’ he had ever seen.

The State’s case as presented by prosecutor Arnold Mudekunye was that on 1 October and at around 3am Michael Ncube woke up when he heard his goats bleating and his dogs were also barking continuously.

When he woke up he proceeded to the goat pen to investigate what was happening.

Upon arrival he busted Moyo busy having sex with one of his female goats.

Ncube then asked him what he was doing and the unperturbed Moyo threatened to beat him up before he ordered him to leave.

Ncube complied and went away to his bedroom to sleep leaving behind Moyo to continue having sex with the goat.

The court heard that at around 6am Ncube proceeded to the goat pen where he discovered that two of his female goats had been sexually abused and one of them was dead with some semen on its rear, an indication that it had died as a result of the sexual abuse.

He then advised his neighbours who tracked a trail of footprints from the goat pen which led them to Moyo’s place.

They managed to locate him and apprehended him before they took him to the police.

After A Lengthy Silence, Government Condemns Sexual Harassment

Information Perm Sec Nick Mangwana addresses Workplace Sexual Harassment Sensitisation and Awareness Programme at ZBC

The full speech by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr Nick Mangwana during a Workplace Sexual Harassment Sensitisation and Awareness Programme at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation this Thursday.

Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen. I cannot say the usual it gives me great pleasure to be here because the issue we have all gathered for today, gives me no pleasure at all.

Let me say, as a Ministry, we felt it was important to be part of this Workplace Sexual Harassment Sensitization and Awareness Programme here today. We hope our presence gives the guidance and impetus needed to deal with this scourge once and for all. Not only here at ZBC, but media houses throughout the country.

Zimbabwe’s media sector plays a key role in the dissemination of information. One of its goals is to inculcate positive values, attitudes, and behavior change of the public towards socio-economic and cultural environments with a view to promoting sustainable development (SD) at local and national levels.

It is highly worrying that the media sector is itself embroiled in the disregard of some of the very values it is supposed to educate others on. The very tenets of Ubuntu dictate that each human being is to respected and treated fairly in any situation. This includes the newsrooms. Every person in a newsroom deserves to be treated with hunhu/Ubuntu.

At policy level, its even explicit. Government has zero tolerance towards sexual harassment of females or males at workplaces and has a Public Service Sexual Harassment Policy which is ruthlessly enforced. I am aware that here at ZBC you have your own policy in place. I urge you to likewise ruthlessly but fairly apply it when cases of alleged sexual harassment are reported.

Media practitioners in all their diversity are an important cog in nation building. It is, therefore, important that their ability to carry out this task is not tampered with.

I will leave it to the presenters who will come after me to explain in detail and with accuracy what exactly constitutes sexual harassment. As they do so, I would like us all to remember that sexual harassment can be perpetrated on both male and females.

No one should be ashamed or be afraid to report cases of harassment. It is not a shameful thing, it is not the victims fault and certainly it is not something that one should be dismissed from work for refusing or reporting.

I assure you that as a Ministry, our doors are open for those who may feel their voices are not heard when they report incidents of sexual harassment.
Government cannot address this challenge alone which requires concerted efforts by all stakeholders joining hands. We applaud the interventions that the Zimbabwe Gender Commission has made to engage with the industry at large in addressing sexual harassment concerns. Together, we can all stamp out this shameful menace once and all from our newsrooms.

Building on this sensitisation and awareness programme, I urge not just the ZBC, but all media houses in Zimbabwe, to ensure that a safe working environment obtains where all employees can freely carry out their duties.

The Second Republic, under His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has made significant strides in ensuring a safe, free and competitive operating environment for all media and ensuring that indeed, information is treated as a public good.

It is therefore now up to you, colleagues here present and elsewhere, to make sure this environment cascades down into the newsrooms.

Government, and our Ministry in particular, is at hand to give assistance and support where needed. It is my fervent hope that lessons and wisdom to be gleaned from todays programme, will be cherished and actioned and sexual harassment in the workplace will soon be a thing of the past.

I THANK YOU

Israeli Airstrikes Hit Gaza

THE death toll in the Middle East continues to rise, with Israeli airstrikes hitting targets in Gaza City as raging battles between Israel and Hamas entered Day Six.

The Hamas health ministry says the death toll has risen to at least 1 354, with dozens killed since Thursday morning after a massive Israeli bombardment of the enclave.

Fears have grown for Gaza’s 2.4 million residents now enduring the 5th war in 15 years in the long-blockaded territory, which has also seen Israel cut off water, food and power supplies.

Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz vowed that the total siege of Gaza will continue until the hostages are freed.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says it is in contact with Hamas and Israel as part of efforts to facilitate the release of hostages taken into Gaza.

The ICRC also believes the humanitarian situation inside the Gaza Strip could become unmanageable without a way to get supplies into the besieged territory.

ICRC Regional Director for the Near and Middle East Mr Fabrizio Carboni said the organisation as a neutral intermediary is ready to conduct humanitarian visits, facilitate communication between hostages and family members and facilitate any eventual release.

Meanwhile, Syrian state media has reported that Israeli strikes knocked Syria’s two main airports out of service in the first such attack since a weekend Hamas assault on Israel triggered fierce fighting.

Israeli strikes have repeatedly caused the grounding of flights at airports in the capital Damascus and the Northern City Aleppo which are controlled by the government of war-torn Syria.

Zanu PF Desperate To Destroy Citizens Movement

Tshabangu: ZEC Apologises To SADC, Recalls Emmerson Mnangagwa

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Admits Wrongdoing, Declares 2023 Election Null and Void

By Baba Jukwa | OPINION | The manure has-hit-the-fan! – The Tshabangurised Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has officially apologized to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Electoral Observer Commission and declared the 2023 election in Zimbabwe null and void. The announcement came in the form of a startling statement released by the ZEC.

The ZEC’s statement, in its entirety, reads: “We acknowledge the contents of the final SADC SEOM report on the recent elections in Zimbabwe. One of the key contents of the report, section 12.3 (b), highlighted a glaring violation of the Electoral Act. This violation pertains to our employment of individuals closely related to senior government officials or those associated with senior ZANU PF leaders.

The admission from the ZEC continues: “We admit that this breach compromised the integrity of the ZEC institution as a whole, and had a direct influence on the results of the elections held on the 23rd and 24th of August 2023.”

In an unprecedented move, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission concluded its statement by declaring the 2023 elections null and void. The ZEC stated: “We, therefore, declare the elections held on the 23rd and 24th of August 2023 null and void and call for a fresh election to be held without our (ZEC) involvement.”

This shocking admission and decision have sent shockwaves through the political landscape in Zimbabwe, raising questions about the transparency and credibility of the electoral process. The announcement also underscores the importance of international oversight and the role that organizations like the SADC play in ensuring free and fair elections in the region.

The implications of this declaration are yet to be fully understood, but it is evident that a new chapter in Zimbabwe’s political landscape is about to unfold as the nation prepares for a fresh election, this time without the direct involvement of the ZEC. This development is sure to be closely monitored by both domestic and international observers as the country navigates its path forward.

SA: Zimbos Sentenced for Illicit Cigs South Africa

In a stunning turn of events, while the South African authorities have yet to make any arrests of suspected GoldMafia members exposed in illicit cigarette sales, two Zimbabwean nationals have been sentenced in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Limpopo for their involvement in the possession of R9.6 million worth of illicit cigarettes and corruption.

Marshall Masiya, 32, and Oswald Raisi, 27, made a shocking plea of guilt for the charges brought against them.

The court proceedings unveiled that on May 20, at the Beitbridge border, officials from the South African Revenue Services (Sars) conducted a routine inspection and immediately noticed discrepancies between the goods declared on the documents and the actual load on the truck. As a result, the truck was rerouted to an inspection ramp, and the cargo was subsequently unpacked.

What they discovered was astonishing. Hidden beneath cotton oil cake were a staggering 440 master boxes of Remington Gold cigarettes, valued at a whopping R9.6 million. The scale of the illicit cigarette operation left authorities astounded.

The situation took a darker twist when it was revealed that Oswald Raisi attempted to bribe a Sars official with a gratification of R30,000 to prevent the inspection and search of the truck. The vigilant official promptly alerted the police, leading to the arrest of both Masiya and Raisi.

In the aggravation of sentence, State Prosecutor advocate Phumudzo Mudau emphasized the gravity of the offenses and their prevalence within the court’s jurisdiction. He argued that the accused displayed no remorse and called for a strong message to potential offenders by imposing harsher sentences, given the enormous value of the confiscated cigarettes and the societal cry for stricter measures against corruption.

As a result, the State requested the court to impose a custodial sentence for the corruption charges.

In a final twist, the Renault truck, two trailers, and the 44 master boxes of Remington Gold cigarettes were forfeited to the State.

Marshall Masiya received an 18-month imprisonment sentence for illegal immigration, while Oswald Raisi faced a more severe sentence. Raisi was sentenced to five years imprisonment or a substantial fine of R5 million for the possession of illicit cigarettes, and an additional eight years imprisonment for his involvement in corruption.

The court also ruled that both men were unfit to possess a firearm, further underscoring the seriousness of their crimes. This case stands as a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat illicit activities in South Africa, particularly involving illicit cigarette trade and corruption.- Agencies

Donkey Milk for Zim Supermarkets

TAKUWA Natural Products Plans to Introduce Donkey Milk in Zimbabwe’s Supermarkets

In a groundbreaking development, TAKUWA Natural Products, a Botswana-based company, is in the early stages of establishing a donkey milk value-addition production base in Zimbabwe. While donkeys in Zimbabwe have predominantly served as a source of draught power for farmers, this venture is set to introduce donkey milk and related products to the nation.

Recent research studies have highlighted the wider natural health attributes of donkey milk that could be harnessed to enhance human health, especially regarding skin care. TAKUWA Natural Products, which has been refining its systems since 2016, offers natural donkey milk for human consumption and a range of donkey milk soaps known for their effectiveness in curing various skin conditions.

According to Taolo Sesupo, the operations manager of Takuwa Natural Products, donkey milk is characterized by its purity, containing no bacteria and boasting low fat content. Interestingly, it offers a taste slightly sweeter than cow’s milk. Their research has indicated that donkey milk contains essential amino acids that support cardiovascular health, help in the treatment of thrombosis, and combat common ailments like colds. It is also rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish the skin, maintaining its elasticity and health. Notably, donkey milk contains high levels of lysozyme, an enzyme with antimicrobial properties believed to contribute to healthier skin, making it particularly useful for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Takuwa Natural Products’ initiative is a significant step towards creating an inclusive food industry that caters to various dietary needs. These products offer a natural alternative to traditional dairy products, making them an excellent option for individuals who are lactose intolerant or have specific dietary restrictions.

Sesupo stated, “We focus mainly on donkey milk products and natural herbs. For now, we are into soaps and cosmetics. In recent years, we’ve had substantial interest in our products from different countries, including Zimbabwe and South Africa. We have received numerous requests on our website and social media to expand our supplies to Zimbabwe.”

In light of this demand, the company is actively seeking investors or partners to facilitate local production in Zimbabwe and potentially open another manufacturing plant if the necessary raw materials can be sourced within the country.

While donkey milk products are not yet prevalent in Zimbabwe or Africa as a whole, Takuwa Natural Products aims to advocate for their adoption due to the significant health benefits they offer. Their journey began in 2016 and was guided by Dr. David Tanyala Takuwa, a research scientist and specialist analytical chemist at the University of Botswana, whose research inspired the company. Their products have shown promising results on various skin types and demonstrated immunity-boosting properties, thanks to the higher nutritional value of donkey milk, including essential amino acids, omegas, iron, calcium, and potassium.

This groundbreaking venture is poised to revolutionize Zimbabwe’s dairy market, offering unique, health-focused alternatives to traditional milk products and skincare solutions, potentially improving the well-being of many individuals. As Takuwa Natural Products seeks to expand its presence in the Zimbabwean market, the nation can anticipate an exciting addition to its supermarket shelves in the near future.

Woman Turns Into A Man

Controversial Sodomy Case Unfolds in Kwekwe.

A case has emerged in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe, where two men, James Mapawa (40) and Praise Mpofu (25), are facing joint charges of sodomy after an unusual turn of events. The case revolves around allegations that the two had lived together as a couple and engaged in anal sexual intercourse before a sudden fallout, leading to a police report.

The unexpected saga began when Mapawa proposed love to Mpofu in June, believing that Mpofu was a woman who was dressed and pretended to be one. They reportedly stayed together for two months as a couple, with Mapawa unaware of Mpofu’s true gender.

However, things took a dramatic turn when Mapawa claimed that he had discovered that Mpofu was male, prompting him to report the matter to the police. The charges of sodomy were subsequently brought against them.

Both Mapawa and Mpofu appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Itai Kagwere to face the sodomy charges and were released on $100,000 bail each.

In their defense, the accused have denied the allegations and are now seeking to have the charges quashed. Their lawyer, Artwel Chinamatira of Masawi and Partners, argues that the allegations are intended to embarrass Mapawa and prejudice his defense. He stated that the two had a misunderstanding over something else and never engaged in anal sexual intercourse as alleged.

Chinamatira challenged the State to present facts rather than alleged confessions, especially since the accused persons vehemently deny such confessions. The defense attorney emphasized that the burden of proving guilt rests on the State, and it should allege and prove its own case without relying on alleged utterances or reports from the accused.

Chinamatira concluded by requesting that the State’s outline be quashed, as the allegations contained within it could potentially harm the accused’s defense.

The State is yet to respond to these requests, and this controversial case continues to unfold, leaving many questions and concerns in its wake.- state media

Nelson Chamisa Gives Zanu PF Heavyweights Sleepless Nights

Government Cracks Whip On S*x Perverts

I THANK YOU

But after the CAF coaching courses were suspended in the country due to the FIFA ban and the Covid-19 pandemic, several coaches, like Joey Antipas and Joel Luphahla, were barred from working as head coaches in the top-flight.-Soccer24 News

Basic Safety Tips For Miners

First aid should can be offered by anyone but ideally trained personnel to give first aid should offer first aid.

When offering first aid always consider your personal safety first.

Look out for any dangers and only act when you are confident it is safe to do so.

An unresponsive person is someone not moving or responding when you call them or when gently shaken.

Respiratory emergencies & CPR

Check if breathing by tilting their head back and looking and feeling for breaths.
When a person is unresponsive, their muscles relax and their tongue can block their airway so they can no longer breathe. Tilting their head back opens the airway by pulling the tongue forward. If they are breathing, you will see their chest moving and you may hear their breath or feel it on your cheek. If breathing, move on to step two.

Move them onto their side and tilt their head back. Putting them in this position with their head back helps keep their airway open. It ensures their tongue falls forward and blood and vomit drain out. It is sometimes called the “recovery position”.
Call for help or an ambulance as soon as possible.
If the patient needs CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), place the person on their back on a firm, flat surface and start giving chest compressions aiming for 30compressions in 1minute.
How to do CPR
Hand position: Two hands centered on the chest
Body position: Shoulders directly over hands; elbows locked
Depth: At least 5cm
Allow chest to return to normal position after every chest compression.
5 Give 2 rescue breaths (if equipment to do that available). Ensure each breath lasts about 1 second and makes the chest rise; allow air to exit before giving the next breath.

Gas leak, Fire & Burns

Turn off gas if safe to do
Evacuate the area immediately
Do not switch any lights or start an open flame
If there is fire use a fire extinguisher to stop the fire from spreading and ring the fire alarm alerting everyone to evacuate the building.
If someone is on fire remove the person from the source of fire, drop and roll him or her over or cover him or her with a fire blanket.
Cool burn under running water
Protect the burn with sterile, non-adhesive bandage (DO NOT APPLY BUTTER OR OINTMENTS)
Do not break blisters
Call for an ambulance and send to hospital
Chemical spill.

Remove spoiled clothing
If skin or eyes affected rinse immediately with clean running water
If ingested do not induce vomiting and do not give water or mi unless told to d so by a health professional.
If inhaled move the person to fresh air and give oxygen if available.
After first aid is given send to hospital as soon as possible.

Breast Cancer Month: Celebrating the Strength and Resilience of Female Journalists

This Breast Cancer Month of October 2023, we celebrate the strength and resilience of female journalists.

These brave women are on the frontlines of the fight for media freedom and freedom of expression despite their many challenges, including harassment and violence.

Despite these challenges, female journalists continue to report on important stories and hold the powerful accountable. They are an inspiration to us all.

This year’s theme is: Keeping Her in The Picture, which is precisely what female journalists do through their professional lenses and storytelling. They have told stories of brave women who have survived breast cancer and, at times, their stories of survival.

This Breast Cancer Month, we encourage all female journalists to take care of themselves and their health. Breast cancer is a serious disease but is also treatable when detected early. Please get regular mammograms and screenings.

We also encourage you to support female journalists in our respective communities. Share their work, follow them on social media, and tell them how much you appreciate their courage and dedication.

Together, we can create a world where female journalists can work without fear of harassment or violence.

Nelson Chamisa Gives Zanu PF Sleepless Nights

We Are A Structureless Structure – President Chamisa

IMF predicts 400% inflation rise

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast that Zimbabwe’s annual inflation rate is expected to rise to nearly 400% by the end of the year due to the depreciation of the local currency. This projection comes despite the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency revising its inflation calculation method for the second time in the year.

According to the IMF’s World Economic Outlook report, Zimbabwe’s annual inflation rate is predicted to reach 396.2% by the end of this year and 190.2% in 2024. Notably, the October inflation projections are an upward revision of 224 and 55.6 percentage points, respectively, from the fund’s April projections for 2023 and 2024.

Zimbabwe currently has the highest annual inflation rates in Africa, with an annual inflation rate of 18.4% in September following the adoption of a geometric aggregation method for analyzing the consumer price index.

Despite this challenging economic climate, the IMF has revised the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth upward by 1.6 percentage points to 4.1% for this year, and it projects a one percentage point increase in GDP growth to 3.6% for 2024. However, the lower growth rate for 2024 is attributed to the potential negative impact of an El Niño drought on the agricultural sector’s cash crops and international mineral prices.

IMF’s inflation projections suggest that Zimbabwe faces significant economic challenges, including price and exchange rate instability, structural bottlenecks, global headwinds, and a high wage bill, as well as high interest payments.

Despite Zimbabwe’s high GDP growth in 2022 driven by continued agricultural production and favorable international mineral prices, the country still grapples with triple-digit inflation and persistent poverty. The World Bank emphasizes the need to address issues related to structural transformation and vulnerability, including shocks such as drought, natural disasters, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, Zimbabwe’s unsustainable debt and arrears to international financial institutions continue to limit fiscal space and growth potential, as stated by the World Bank.

Zim yet to reap full benefits from lithium sector

By A Correspondent- The Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zhou Ding, has expressed that Zimbabwe currently faces challenges in developing battery-grade lithium, despite possessing significant lithium reserves, a vital mineral in clean energy technology production. He highlighted several issues inhibiting the country from fully reaping the benefits of its lithium sector.

“China fully supports the Zimbabwean government’s vision for value addition and low-carbon development through the expansion of the mining industry, particularly in the lithium sector. However, Rome was not built in a day,” he noted.

One major challenge is the dependence on imported raw materials like sulfuric acid, which has high costs, for battery-grade lithium production. Moreover, lithium processing is energy-intensive, and Zimbabwe faces issues of insufficient power supply and high electricity costs, which hinder battery-grade lithium production. Ding also mentioned long-term competition from neighboring countries like South Africa and Zambia.

While Zimbabwe has some of the world’s largest lithium deposits, it has primarily focused on petalite production (a form of lithium used in ceramics, aluminum smelting, and glass) at Bikita Minerals since the 1950s.

Ding stated that further investment in new energy mining in Zimbabwe would require more in-depth market research and support measures. Chinese mining giants, including Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, Sinomine Resource Group, and Chengxin Lithium Group, have invested a total of $678 million in lithium mines and projects in Zimbabwe over the past year.

The chief director of Zimbabwe’s Transport ministry, Suston Muzenda, also spoke at the event, highlighting the challenges in the country’s transport sector. He emphasized the need to address high operating costs and accessibility issues, which affect the competitiveness of Zimbabwean products and pose challenges to urban and rural communities. Muzenda suggested embracing e-mobility, including the adoption of electric vehicles and the development of a sustainable transportation ecosystem, as a transformative solution for the transport crisis in the country.

Mr Teen Zimbabwe dethroned over US$30 bootcamp fee

By A Correspondent- Reigning Mr Teen Zimbabwe 2023 Abel Mugari has been dethroned amid allegations of defaulting on a bootcamp fee of US$30 and failure to attend the bootcamp among other reasons.

Mugari was crowned Mr Teen Zimbabwe a fortnight ago at a pageant held in Bulawayo simultaneously with Mr Zimbabwe International.

Mr Teen Zimbabwe 2022, David Takavarasha has since replaced Mugari as the new Mr Teen Zimbabwe 2023.

In a statement, Mr Teen Zimbabwe organiser Ishmael Murangandi said the decision to dethrone Mugari was made following a thorough investigation into his conduct, which was found to be unacceptable.

“It is with regret to announce that Mugari is no longer working with the Mr Teen Zimbabwe brand and neither is he still the brand ambassador nor the grand winner of the 2023 edition,” part of the statement read.

“The reason for this action is known by both parties and cannot be disclosed to the public in order to protect his reputation. Mugari has to surrender all awards that came with the title with immediate effect.”

Contacted for comment, Mugari, however, said some of the reasons he was reprimanded for included use of his own accommodation and transport from Harare to Bulawayo prior to the event.

He also revealed that the pageant had no prize money.

“The friction between me and the organisers started when they allegedly demanded US$40 for a bootcamp I did not attend,” he said.

“Prior to the event at which I was crowned Mr Teen Zimbabwe, the organisers had arranged a bootcamp, which came at a cost of US$40. The organisers insisted they still required the full US$40 payment for the bootcamp which I had not attended,” he said.

“I was only able to pay them US$10 which is all I had on me and advised that I would discuss the balance payment with my parents. At this stage being a teenager, I am still under the guardianship and stewardship of my parents who meet all my day-to-day expenses.”

Mugari said his parents felt that since he had not attended the bootcamp, it was, therefore, irregular for the event organisers to demand full payment for something he did not participate in.

“My parents, however, in seeking to meet the organisers halfway, were happy to pay 50% of the bootcamp despite the fact that I had not actually attended it. This, unfortunately, was not acceptable to the organisers.

“They then instructed me to immediately hand over my sash, as well as the shield that I had received. I obliged with no quarrels,” he told NewsDay Life & Style.

Mugari added: “It is quite upsetting to discover that all this has led to me being labelled as having behaviour that is not fitting or unacceptable, and that I am not worthy to be the crown holder.

“I believe I diligently worked to achieve the recognition that the organisers themselves gave me at the pageant. It is regrettable that now because of a mere US$30, I find myself stripped of that title and my reputation blemished.”-newsday

Busted r_apist runs away with condom

A man from Mabutweni suburb in Bulawayo ran away with a condom still ‘stuck’ on his manhood after he was busted trying to rape a nine-year-old girl who was also his church mate in a bushy area.

Lizwelihle Moyo Mpofu (22) appeared before Western Commonage Court magistrate Learnear Khumalo facing an attempted rape charge.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He was, however, convicted after a full trial and sentenced to serve 30 months behind bars.

Six months were suspended on condition that he does not commit any offence of a sexual nature.

In arriving at the sentence the magistrate noted that the victim was a nine-year old girl and the offender kidnapped her from church and took her to a bushy area.

She noted that a degree of violence was used as he tore her underwear and a medical report indicated that she suffered minor wounds on her private parts.

A court heard that while Mpofu was attending a night church service he sweet-talked the minor girl to accompany him to a nearby bush area under the pretext that he wanted to pray for her.

While they were on their way the minor girl sensed danger and requested to return but Mpofu forcibly grabbed her and headed to the bushy area.

It is reported that when Mpofu was about to abuse the girl she screamed for help thereby attracting the attention of her parents and some congregants who rushed to the scene and busted Mpofu trying to rape her.

Upon seeing that he had been busted Mpofu sped off with a condom still on his manhood.

He also left his sandals at the crime scene. The crowd reported the incident to the police leading to his arrest.

SADC final report confirms Zim elections were flawed

A final report from the SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) regarding Zimbabwe’s elections on August 23 has once again underlined the group’s initial assertion that the electoral process in the country was marred by significant flaws that may have biased the outcome against the opposition.

In their preliminary report, which had previously elicited a strong reaction from Zimbabwean authorities, SEOM had stated that the election was riddled with irregularities and did not conform to regional and international standards for conducting credible elections.

In their concluding report, SEOM reaffirmed their concerns about the electoral process that secured President Emmerson Mnangagwa a controversial second term, emphasizing that “some aspects of the Harmonized Elections did not meet the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021).”

Furthermore, SEOM raised questions about the independence of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), particularly due to the close connections some of its commissioners had with senior officials of the ruling Zanu-PF party. The report recommended that if it is confirmed that certain ZEC Commissioners are closely linked to senior ruling party members, such connections should be considered as grounds for disqualification in the recruitment of ZEC officials, in accordance with Section 11(2) of the Electoral Act and Section 4.1.9 of the SADC Principles and Guidelines.

SEOM’s recommendations included urging ZEC to make the voters’ roll available to stakeholders, allowing ample time for inspection and verification in accordance with the Electoral Act. They also called for the government to involve other stakeholders in the design of ballot papers to enhance transparency and establish clear timelines for providing the voters’ roll and ballot information.

Given concerns about the perceived partiality of ZEC, the mission encouraged ZEC to adopt a proactive communication strategy that engages stakeholders at all stages of the electoral process, aiming to build confidence and a sense of ownership among key stakeholders and the general public.

Lastly, SEOM stressed the importance of all concerned parties using appropriate legal channels to address any grievances related to the election results to ensure the exhaustion of domestic legal remedies.

US$120 million EU support for Kariba dam restoration

The European Union (EU) has allocated €113 million (approximately US$120 million) to support the restoration of Kariba Dam, as part of the Global Gateway initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s electricity generation capacity.

This announcement was made during a site visit to the project attended by EU ambassadors to Zimbabwe and Zambia, Jobst von Kirtman and Karolina Stasiak, respectively, along with Energy Minister Edgar Moyo, his Zambian counterpart Peter Chibwe Kapala, and other delegates.

Kariba Dam is jointly owned by Zimbabwe and Zambia, and both countries generate electricity under the management of the Zambezi River Authority.

Von Kirtman stated that the rehabilitation of Kariba Dam is a crucial aspect of the EU’s initiative, aimed at addressing global challenges in a sustainable manner. He highlighted that the dam’s rehabilitation could potentially contribute to over 50% of Zimbabwe’s total electricity production.

The partnership for the rehabilitation project involves the EU, the Zambezi River Authority, the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Swedish International Development and Co-operation, and both Zambia and Zimbabwe. This initiative represents an investment in the future of both nations.

Zimbabwe currently operates a 1,050-megawatt hydroelectric power plant on Lake Kariba. In the past, the two countries faced a crisis due to a significant drop in water levels in Lake Kariba, leading to severe power shortages on both sides of the Zambezi River.

The EU emphasized that rehabilitating Kariba Dam is essential, as a potential dam collapse could have catastrophic consequences, affecting millions of people and causing a significant economic impact.

Pressure group calls on gvt to intervene on Gukurahundi mass graves

By A Correspondent- Ibhetshu LikaZulu, a pressure group based in Matebeleland, has called on the government to deploy security personnel to protect memorial plaques that the organization erected on several Gukurahundi mass graves in Matebeleland and Midlands provinces, as some of them have been vandalized.

The pressure group claims that suspected State security agents have vandalized the plaques on multiple occasions. Their secretary-general, Mbuso Fuzwayo, mentioned that they plan to replace the plaques damaged at the Bhalagwe mass graves in Matobo and Silobela, Midlands province this month. Fuzwayo emphasized that the government has a moral obligation to honor the estimated 20,000 civilians who were killed by the army during the Gukurahundi massacres of the early 1980s.

Fuzwayo questioned why the vandals only targeted the Gukurahundi plaques while leaving Rhodesian plaques untouched. He believes that the government should publicly acknowledge the mistakes of the past and take responsibility for protecting these memorial plaques.

The pressure group is working on a program to replace the destroyed plaques and expand their installations to various areas, as they continue to receive requests to replace the damaged plaques. In July, Ibhetshu LikaZulu collaborated with other interest groups to erect a memorial plaque on a mass grave in Tsholotsho, marking the site where six people were allegedly killed by the army in 1983.

Scrap Party Recall Provision, Madhuku Says

By A Correspondent| Constitutional lawyer and academic, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, has raised concerns over a provision in the Constitution that grants political parties the authority to recall their members.

In his view, this provision is fundamentally flawed and should be removed to uphold the principles of democratic representation.

Madhuku argued that the clause allowing political parties to recall their members poses a threat to the democratic process.

He emphasized that Members of Parliament (MPs) are initially elected by the people through a democratic voting process, only to be subsequently recalled by their respective parties.

This contradiction, he asserts, undermines the essence of democratic representation and the will of the electorate.

“The clause that parties can recall members must be removed from the Constitution. MPs are elected by the people and then recalled by the parties. So the problem is not within opposition parties, but the Constitution and that clause should be removed,” said Madhuku.

Madhuku’s stance is rooted in a desire to enhance the democratic framework of the country, ensuring that elected officials remain accountable to their constituents throughout their term. He believes that the current provision, enabling parties to recall their members at will, disrupts the balance of power and compromises the fundamental principles of democracy.

The issue of party recalls has sparked debates within Zimbabwe’s political landscape, with concerns raised about potential abuses and misuse of this power by political parties.

Critics argue that the provision allows parties to stifle dissent and enforce party discipline, often at the expense of the constituents’ choices.

Advocates for the removal of the recall provision contend that MPs should be accountable primarily to the voters who elected them, rather than being subjected to the whims of their party leadership.

They emphasize the importance of nurturing a system where elected representatives act in the best interests of their constituents, guided by their mandate and not partisan directives.

CCC Legislator Recalled Within Minutes of Swearing-In

By A Correspondent| In a startling turn of events, newly sworn-in Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator Jasmine Toffa was swiftly recalled just five minutes after taking the oath of office as a Member of Parliament.

The incident has raised serious concerns over the constitutional implications and the functioning of democratic processes within Zimbabwe.

On Tuesday afternoon, amidst a backdrop of anticipation, Toffa officially assumed her position as a Member of Parliament.

However, within a mere five minutes of being sworn in and taking her seat, the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda read her name amongst the list of those recalled through a fake letter written by one Sengezo Tshabangu.

The recall was purportedly executed by an individual holding the position of Secretary-General (SG), a role that the CCC asserts does not exist within their organizational structure.

This sudden recall and its speedy implementation have ignited a fiery debate, prompting questions about the legitimacy and legality of such abrupt actions within the democratic framework of Zimbabwe. Advocates for democracy and constitutional adherence are demanding a thorough examination of the events and a clarification on the legality of the recall process.

“I am a CCC MP sworn in on Tuesday afternoon less than 5 min later as I took my seat The Speaker read my name amongst the list of the recalled, by a bogus SG a position we do not have in the CCC. Who is fooling who? Mr Speaker Sir? Sec 68 constitution of Zim,” said Toffa.

The CCC has raised its voice, vehemently challenging the recall and emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic principles in the country.

Mental health cases soar among teenagers

By A Correspondent- Health experts have expressed concern over a significant increase in mental health breakdowns among adolescents and teenagers due to drug and substance abuse. This issue was raised as the country observed World Mental Health Day.

Itai Rusike, the executive director of the Community Working Group on Health, highlighted the current inadequacy of public health facilities in treating mental health conditions.

He noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people experienced mental health challenges related to stress, sadness, anxiety, loneliness, and depression. Public health facilities currently have limited capacity to screen, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, as they are overwhelmed by issues related to drug abuse and a shortage of healthcare workers.

Rusike further pointed out that young people are the most affected by mental health issues, with 40% of patients at Ingutsheni Psychiatric Hospital and other healthcare institutions being victims of drug abuse. He attributed this to the lack of economic opportunities for youth and their idle time, which often leads to experimentation with harmful habits.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, 50% of all mental health conditions begin to manifest at the age of 14, but many cases remain undetected and untreated due to the absence of proper support mechanisms in most developing countries.

Johannes Marisa, president of the Medical and Dental Private Practitioners Association of Zimbabwe, linked the high unemployment rate to substance abuse among youth, resulting in a surge in mental health cases. He mentioned that substance-induced psychosis is currently prevalent, with drugs such as crystal meth and marijuana implicated. Marisa suggested that while private rehabilitation services are expensive and limited, people should take advantage of free mental health drugs provided by the government, which are available at various centers.-newsday

Chamisa must prove 11 Sept letter received 5 Oct was not fraudulently post-date or his name is mud!

By Wilbert Mukori- FOR THE RECORD: It turns out that while the attached letter sent to Parliament by Nelson Chamisa is dated 11 September 2023, it was actually sent to and received in Parliament on 5 October 2023,” wrote Professor Jonathan Moyo on his X account.

“The letter by CCC’s ‘Interim SG’ recalling some CCC MPs was sent to and received in Parliament on 3 October 2023.

“NB: Since on their receipt Parliament stamps and shares with the courier/messenger a stamped copy of such letters, having already made his letter public, it is in the public interest and would be very good for transparency for Nelson Chamisa to share a copy of his letter with Parliament’s stamp, showing the date of its delivery and receipt!”

It is a simple enough challenge but knowing Chamisa this could well be mission impossible!

Chamisa is well known for his silver-back gorilla grandstanding and posturing to make eye-catching headlines but when push comes to shove; more often than not he fallen flat on his face.

In 2018 Chamisa challenged the presidential election results claiming that he was the winner with 2.6 million votes. He said he had all the V11 forms; the form listing all the contestants, the votes each received, spoilt ballots, etc. from each Polling Station (PS); to prove where he got the 2.6 million votes. He stubbornly refused to release V11 forms for public inspection. He was lying!

The affidavit Chamisa submitted to the Constitution Court did not have ALL the V11 forms to account for 2.6 million votes.

In an interview with a South African journalist early this year, five years later, Chamisa confessed that MDC A did not election agents in 544 of the over 10 000 PSs in 2018.  Election agents witness the whole election process from start to finish at the PS and they are entitled to a copy of the V11 form. This would explain why MDC A did not have all the V11 forms. The 544 missing V11 constitute 5% of the total and it should be remembered that Mnangagwa won those elections with a wafer thin margin of 0.8%!

According to Douglas Mwonzora, who was a senior MDC A leader in the 2018 elections, the party did not have election agents in “over 2 000” PSs. The more PSs with no election agents the more V11 “leg room” Zanu PF would have to cheat!

It should be remember that Chamisa had not only claimed that he had all the V11 forms but had participated in the elections claiming “MDC A has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections!” So it turned out the party failed to take even the most basic measure as appointing election agents to all PSs!

It has emerged that CCC did not have elections agents at many PSs in the 23 August 2023 elections. History was repeating itself!

Chamisa also claimed that he had closed all the vote rigging loop-holes in the this year’s elections. It was headline news for weeks before the elections. It was all hot air, of course.

CCC participated in these 2023 elections knowing fully well that ZEC had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. Without a verified voters’ roll there are more vote rigging holes than in a chunk of Swiss cheese!

It is one thing for Chamisa and his wildebeest herd CCC die-hard supporters to accuse the Zanu PF Speaker of the House, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, of political. It is a totally different matter if the accusation should be based on a fraudulent lie!

If is true that the Speaker of the House did, indeed, receive Chamisa’s letter on 5 October and therefore Chamisa had fraudulently post-dated it 11 September for purposes of deceiving the public. Then Chamisa and CCC will lose political credibility (not that he has much political credit in his account given his checked political history)!

For the record the mess of these CCC MP recall is Chamisa’s own making. He has stubborning refused to have a party constitution, structure and elected office bearers because he wanted to retain control of everything. His so called “strategic ambiguity” has backed fired. The wildebeest herd must share the blame; they had allowed his to he his manic way.

The people of Zimbabwe must not allow themselves to be distracted by the  madness in CCC and parliament; we must let Zanu PF and CCC fight it out. We must focus on what the SADC leaders meeting in Tanzania on 31 October 2023 decide regarding the damning SADC Zimbabwe election report.

Let us hope that SADC will up hold the damning report and deny this Zanu PF and CCC government legitimacy and thus clearing the deck for the formation of a National Transition Authority (NTA). The primary task of the NTA, like the 2008 to 2013 GNU, will be to implement the democratic reforms.

Both Zanu PF and CCC leaders must not be included in the NTA, not if we are serious about getting ALL the reforms implemented. The two parties were in the GNU that failed to get even one token reform implemented; it would be naive, to say the least, to expect them to implement even a few reforms much less ALL the reforms.

We need to focus on getting all the democratic reforms implemented without failure!FOCUS!

R_aped goat dies

By A Correspondent- In a shocking case of bestiality, a 43-year-old herdboy from Togotsvebo Village in Mphoengs, Matabeleland South province chillingly confessed to his “sadistic sexual interest” in animals when he was charged with raping two goats leading to one of them dying during the horrifying act.

Chamisa Ready To Pull Out 103 Representatives From Parly And Senate

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was on Monday discussing a full withdrawal of MPs and Senators from parliament after 15 lawmakers were controversially recalled.

Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda wrote to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) announcing the vacancies on the basis of a letter by Sengezo Tshabangu, who has styled himself as the CCC’s interim secretary general.

Tshabangu told Mudenda that the 15 – of whom 14 are from Bulawayo and the two Matabeleland provinces – had ceased to be members of the CCC and were therefore being recalled.

One of the recalled MPs Prince Dubeko Sibanda said: “On October 1, 2020, they recalled me for ceasing to be a member of the MDC-A, which I won under in 2018. We left it and formed CCC. I won by-elections on March 26, 2022, under CCC. I did so again on in the general elections on August 23, 2023. Today, they recalled us again. It’s time for a revolution.”

All the 15 representatives have gone to court seeking an order declaring that Tshabangu has no legal standing to recall them, and that they should remain in parliament. The party has described him as an “impostor.”

The affected MPs are Pashor Raphael Sibanda (Cowdray Park); Ereck Gono (Lobengula-Magwegwe); Nicola June Watson (Bulawayo South); Desmond Makaza (Mpopoma-Mzilikazi); Obert Manduna (Nketa); Sitabile Mlilo (Proportional Representation); Jasmine Toffa (Proportional Representation); Janet Dube (Proportional Representation); Evidence Zana (Youth Quota); Morgan Ncube (Beitbridge West); Nomathemba Sibanda (Proportional Representation); Velisiwe Nkomo (Proportional Representation); Prince Dubeko Sibanda (Binga North); Bright Moyo Vanya (Lupane East) and Febion Munyaradzi (Mabvuku-Tafara).

Separately, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa is ready to withdraw all his party’s elected representatives in protest at the latest developments, a CCC insider said.

Calls for street protests will grow but Chamisa has shown some reluctance to lead marches, publicly stating that he does not want to “step on the skeletons of Zimbabweans to reach State House” – a show of concern over the violent response expected from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime.

Chamisa had earlier written to Mudenda, who received Tshabangu’s letter on October 3, urging him to ignore the former MDC-T Matabeleland North chairman.

“As at present, none of the Members of Parliament who were elected under the CCC have been expelled from the party I lead or recalled from the National Assembly, or for that matter, from any elected position in the Senate or any local council,” Chamisa wrote.

Tshabangu has also written to local government minister Winston Chitando naming 17 councillors, 12 of them from Bulawayo, that he says have ceased to be members of the CCC. Two of the councillors are from Matabeleland South, one from Matabeleland North, one from Epworth in Harare and Masvingo’s first female mayor Shantel Chiwara.

The CCC has no formal membership and no leadership structure in place except for its leader and appointed spokespersons, a loophole which Tshabangu appears to have used to claim a powerful position for himself after submitting a purported CCC constitution to Mudenda. He previously used the same tactic with ZEC to cause the double nomination of CCC candidates in August’s polls.

If the courts rule in favour of Tshabangu in the fight, it opens the possibility that he can expel Chamisa from the party he founded in March 2022 and grab all funding due to the party under the Political Parties (Finances) Act. Zanu-PF, meanwhile, will be eyeing by-elections that could follow with a target of winning 10 seats which would give if a two thirds majority in parliament, allowing it to amend the constitution.

The recalls are “a festival of illegalities and a carnival of absurdities,” said political analyst Brian Kagoro.

Exiled former foreign affairs minister Walter Mzembi said “it will take more than elections” to bring change in Zimbabwe, adding that the CCC’s decision to go to court was a “kindergarten response” and a sign that the party was “failing to read the mood.”

“We will defend our right to vote, our freedom to choose, our constitution and our democracy with everything that we have got. It cannot and will not be business as usual,” CCC spokesman Promise Mkwananzi said in a statement.

“There comes a time where one has to draw a line in the sand, stand up and defend their dignity. Such a time has come. The people of Zimbabwe must and will take a stand. Otherwise there would be no point in voting only for the regime to remove elected officials.”

The recalls come after disputed general elections on August 23 when Mnangagwa claimed a slim majority. Regional and international election observers condemned the poll as a sham and Chamisa has been demanding fresh elections supervised by the United Nations.

“Zim enjoying peace”: ED

President Mnangagwa delivered a reassuring message to the nation, affirming that Zimbabwe will continue to bask in the current peaceful and harmonious environment, a result of the recent credible and tranquil harmonized elections.

The harmonized elections that took place on August 23/24 marked a significant achievement in Zimbabwe’s democratic progress. These elections afforded citizens the opportunity to exercise their democratic right, contributing to the strengthening of democratic institutions within the nation.

President Mnangagwa secured victory in the Presidential election with 2,350,711 votes, representing 52.6 percent of the total vote, surpassing his closest rival, CCC’s Mr. Nelson Chamisa, who obtained 1,967,343 votes, equivalent to 44 percent.

Speaking to delegates at the 9th CEO Africa Roundtable conference in Victoria Falls, President Mnangagwa emphasized that the gathering coincided with the successful and credible conduct of the general elections on August 23 and 24.

He celebrated the peaceful atmosphere that prevailed during the electoral cycle, underscoring that this state of affairs disappointed detractors who had anticipated unrest.

“The country is enjoying peace across the board. We have been experiencing peace for a long time in our recent history. We are going through peaceful processes, and I can assure you that we will continue to preach peace, love, harmony, and unity among our people,” President Mnangagwa affirmed.

He noted that the 9th CEO Africa Roundtable conference convened in the aftermath of the successful, free, and fair harmonized general elections, which had defied the expectations of those who had not foreseen a peaceful outcome.

President Mnangagwa has consistently encouraged Zimbabweans to uphold peace and unity, emphasizing that despite the changing political landscape through elections, citizens remain an integral part of the nation.

Throughout the election period, President Mnangagwa advocated for non-violence and unity among the Zimbabwean people.

Since taking office in 2017, he has called for a peaceful coexistence and established the Political Actors Dialogue platform, extending an open invitation to opposition parties to engage in a dialogue for the sake of national unity.

This door to dialogue remains open, underlining his commitment to unity among Zimbabweans, regardless of their political affiliations.

In President Mnangagwa’s vision of a developed Zimbabwe by 2030, peace and unity are fundamental prerequisites, essential for achieving the nation’s objectives.

The nation is currently experiencing economic growth, with prospects indicating that the country is on course to realize its 2030 vision, driven by the prevailing peace and unity.

The rapid industrialization and modernization of Zimbabwe are driven by its people who harness their talents to construct infrastructure such as roads and dams, contributing to the country’s advancement.

ED warms up to calls for dialogue

By A Correspondent- President Mnangagwa has extended an invitation for dialogue to CCC leader Mr. Nelson Chamisa and is open to engaging in discussions. However, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Christopher Mutsvangwa, stressed that this dialogue should not be used as a means to outmaneuver political rivals.

The offer for dialogue comes in the wake of CCC’s interim secretary-general, Mr. Sengezo Tshabangu, recalling 15 CCC Members of Parliament (MPs) and 17 councillors, alleging that they were no longer members of the opposition party.

During a press briefing held at the party headquarters in Harare, Mutsvangwa asserted that President Mnangagwa is committed to transparent dialogue. He emphasized that CCC leader Mr. Chamisa should avoid using this platform to settle scores and gain an advantage over his rivals within the CCC.

Mutsvangwa pointed out that Mr. Chamisa faces strong competition for power within his party, with contenders emerging from all provinces and ranks. Attempting to outmaneuver rivals within the CCC through dialogue with President Mnangagwa is not conducive to productive bilateral party engagement and could introduce chaos into both Zanu-PF and national politics.

Zanu-PF advocates for an open and transparent democracy, where everyone can witness proceedings and hold leaders accountable. Mutsvangwa stressed that engaging in conspiratorial tactics that sideline fellow Zimbabweans with equal standing in the political landscape would lead to national disunity and disaster. Such practices are not present within Zanu-PF.

Mutsvangwa highlighted the importance of transparently addressing all issues on the table so that it is clear to all, including MDC-T’s Douglas Mwonzora, CCC’s vice presidents Tendai Biti and Professor Welshman Ncube, and Chalton Hwende, among others. This approach ensures public buy-in and accountability in the democratic process, which aligns with President Mnangagwa’s goals. In contrast, Chamisa appears to favor a more conspiratorial approach, which is not acceptable to President Mnangagwa.

Mutsvangwa confirmed that Mr. Chamisa has dispatched representatives to Zanu-PF to seek dialogue. President Mnangagwa received these envoys and designated his own representatives for interactions. However, Mr. Chamisa seems hesitant to allow figures like Ncube, Biti, and Hwende to be informed about these engagements, opting for a less transparent approach.

On Wednesday, Mr. Chamisa acknowledged sending emissaries to President Mnangagwa.

Police Vow To Thwart Demonstrations

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has pledged to remain vigilant in dealing with elements bent on derailing the country’s progress.

Speaking at the official opening of the 2023 ZRP Senior Officers Conference in Harare this Wednesday, ZRP Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga said police will remain vigilant in dealing with malcontents without fear or favour.

“We remain alive to the fact that those who do not wish our country well are still pursuing the regime change agenda, so we remain vigilant as always. For this reason, let us remain focused, keeping our ears to the ground to ensure that we decisively deal with elements hell-bent on derailing our country’s progress. To this end, let us always stand ready to apprehend all those who flout the country’s laws without fear or favour,” he said.

We have to work together in dealing with all criminals so that the government can achieve its desire of becoming an upper-middle-income society by 2030. But before I get into detail let me thank you for the job well done for assuring that the just-ended elections were peaceful. I want also to commend the Police for exposing fake abductions in our country,” he said.

The five-day conference, being attended by ZRP senior officers drawn from the country’s ten provinces, also noted the need for law enforcement agents to deal decisively with drug and substance abuse which is threatening national character.

Girl(14) In Trouble For Abusing Siblings

A 14-year-old girl from Harare’s Glen View suburb, who was convicted of aggravated indecent assault after sexually abusing two brothers aged eight and six has been slapped with a three-year jail term.

The three-year jail term was however wholly suspended for five years on condition she does not commit a similar offense during that period.

The magistrate noted that although the offense is serious, the girl is also a child hence the need to keep her out of jail.

The victims were co-tenants with the 14-year-old girl who sexually abused them when she was taking care of two children.

Meanwhile, three suspected poachers Taylor Kurehwatira aged 73, Josephine Jiri (70) and Elector Kufandirori (39), who were allegedly found in possession of a leopard skin worth 20 thousand United States dollars and a pangolin trophy valued at US$5 000 have been arrested for contravening the Wildlife Act.

The trio was arrested while allegedly attempting to sell the leopard skin and pangolin trophy.

They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court after appearing at the magistrates court this Wednesday.

Still, at the courts, two suspected armed robbers who are accused of fatally assaulting another man along Harare Bulawayo Highway before robbing him have appeared in court facing charges of murder.

Tafadzwa Chayambuka and Simon Chihungwe are also facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly assaulting another victim they robbed of cash.

Gweru No-Traffic-Lights for 10 Years Cause Of Chinese Tender War

The city of Gweru has faced a dire situation with malfunctioning traffic lights that has persisted for over a decade. This long-standing issue has resulted in frequent traffic accidents and congestion in the Central Business District (CBD). The problem arose when Chinese contractor Emobuild installed solar-powered traffic lights that eventually became dysfunctional.

Gweru City had paid $360,000 out of the agreed $500,000 to Emobuild, who, in turn, refused to take responsibility for the malfunctioning lights. This dispute led to nearly a decade of arbitration between the city and the contractor. However, this protracted legal battle has now concluded, and the city has embarked on the rehabilitation of the traffic lights. The rehabilitation efforts are expected to be completed before the end of the year.

The situation had been a source of frustration for residents, who often had to contend with the absence of functional traffic lights, leading to traffic problems and accidents. Gweru Residents and Ratepayers Association (GRRA) director, Conilia Selipiwe, expressed relief that the matter has been resolved and commended the city’s initiative to repair the traffic lights.

In addition to addressing the traffic light issue, the local authority has also initiated drainage clearance in all wards to minimize flooding during the rainy season. This ongoing program is being intensified in preparation for the rains. The local authority urges residents not to obstruct drainages, as they play a crucial role in preventing flooding during the rainy season.- Mirror

President Chamisa Dismisses Tshabangu Hype

Tinashe Sambiri

CCC leader President Nelson Chamisa has responded to one Sengezo Tshabangu’s shenanigans.

In a strong statement on Tuesday President Chamisa condemned Zanu PF barbarism.

“A Leopard Never Changes Its Spots,” charged the CCC leader.

He added:

“ZIMBABWE IS IN A DEEP POLITICAL CRISIS AS A RESULT OF A FLAWED AND DISPUTED ELECTION…

Partisan capture of state institutions is criminal. Zpf is not Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is not Zpf.

Parliament is supposed to make laws not break them. Zimbabwe shall be free! A luta continua!”

Opposition Mayor Jailed Over USD90K While Mupfumira ScotFree On USD90mln Loot

Double Standards in Corruption Cases: Victoria Falls Mayor Convicted While ZANU PF Official Evades Justice.

By Agencies- Former Victoria Falls Mayor Somveli Dlamini has been found guilty of fraud charges and remanded in custody for sentencing, raising questions about the fairness and consistency of the Zimbabwean justice system. Dlamini, who lost his bid for Member of Parliament but had been on $50,000 bail, was denied freedom by Hwange regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira, who cited concerns that he might interfere with evidence.

Dlamini’s conviction relates to a fraud case involving a commercial stand valued at over USD 90,000, where he allegedly misrepresented his identity to the Victoria Falls City Council in order to obtain the property. He pretended to be Valentine Munyaradzi Maseko, despite having previously benefited from a land scheme, which contravened government directives.

According to the prosecution, Dlamini was supposed to pay a deposit of USD 25,000 for the stand, but he only paid USD 10,000, leaving a substantial balance. To cover the outstanding amount, he transferred ZW$7.5 million through a bank transfer. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) uncovered this anomaly while investigating corruption suspicions in the city, resulting in Dlamini’s arrest. The local authority suffered a direct financial loss of USD 15,000, with a potential prejudice of USD 66,462.

While Dlamini’s conviction and impending sentencing have raised concerns about the justice system’s transparency, it is equally notable that high-profile cases of alleged corruption involving members of the ruling party, ZANU PF, have not seen similar outcomes. One glaring example is that of Pilrisca Mupfumira, a ZANU PF official, who is accused of a massive USD 95,000,000 fraud case. Astonishingly, she continues to evade justice despite the gravity of her alleged offenses.

This stark disparity in the treatment of corruption cases between opposition figures like Dlamini and powerful ZANU PF officials like Mupfumira has drawn criticism, with many questioning the impartiality of Zimbabwe’s legal system. It is a matter of grave concern that these inconsistencies in justice only serve to undermine public trust and raise doubts about the credibility of anti-corruption efforts in the country.

The Dlamini case, alongside the glaring contrast in how corruption allegations are addressed in Zimbabwe, highlights the urgent need for impartiality and fairness in the country’s legal system. Without consistent and equitable justice, suspicions of political bias and double standards are likely to persist, eroding public confidence in the rule of law.
