By Lesley Dube | ZimEye | In a fiery statement delivered from inside detention at Heathrow Airport, ZANU PF socialite Mai Titi vehemently declared her refusal to repay a reported £30,000 debt to a woman who allegedly reported her for an immigration offense.

A statement comes at a time when more complaints were ganging up at the time of writing to file more reports against her while she is inside the detention at the London airport, Heathrow.

Mai Titi

Mai Titi’s impassioned speech addressed a myriad of issues, including financial matters and personal grievances. She vehemently denied any intention of repaying the debt, asserting that she had already suffered significant losses due to a previous theft.

“I sold the trucks and I also sold the car that I had. I sold them on Facebook right here. I even sold the Mercedes-Benz that I had because I was trying to cover things behind the scenes, not cover the money but cover the 30,000 that had been stolen by the thief I lost everything…” she stated.

She then delved into the intricate details of her financial struggles, alleging mismanagement and deceit by various individuals. Mai Titi accused her creditor, Mildred, of betrayal and collaboration with others against her.

The socialite spared no words in her scathing critique of Mildred, labeling her as deceitful and promiscuous. She also criticized Mildred’s alleged involvement in gossip and personal attacks.

Mai Titi adamantly refused to acknowledge any debt owed to Mildred, dismissing her claims as baseless. She challenged Mildred’s character and credibility, asserting her own superiority and success as a single mother.

Furthermore, Mai Titi questioned Mildred’s motives and accused her of attempting to sabotage her life and career. She pledged to fight back against Mildred’s actions and to uphold her own reputation and integrity.

The dramatic declaration from Mai Titi, delivered amidst a tense atmosphere at Heathrow Airport, marks the latest development in a saga rife with personal conflicts and financial disputes. As tensions continue to escalate, the fallout from Mai Titi’s statement is sure to reverberate across social and political circles in Zimbabwe. Chamisa Aides In War Of Words

By Political Reporter- Former CCC member of Parliament for Mount Pleasant, Fadzayi Mahere, has hit back at Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart’s assertion that she and former Harare East MP Allan Norman “Rusty” Markham donated their seats to Zanu PF.

Mahere and Markham, who were elected MPs for Mt Pleasant and Harare East, respectively, in the August 2023 harmonised elections, resigned from Parliament in solidarity with the party’s former leader, Nelson Chamisa, who quit the party abruptly on 23 January this year, citing “infiltration”.

ZANU PF’s Kiven Mutimbanyoka was elected MP for Harare East and George Mashavane, also of ZANU PF, won the Mt Pleasant National Assembly seat in by-elections held on Saturday, 27, April.

Commenting on an article by an online publication asserting that the two “parliamentary seats have now gone to ZANU PF thanks to Sengezo Tshabangu”, Coltart said Mahere and Markham surrendered the seats to ZANU PF. He wrote on X (Twitter):

With respect, this isn’t factual. These seats went to Zanu because two distinguished MPs resigned of their own accord. Whilst of course, Tshabangu was a contributing factor democrats handed these seats to Zanu PF on a platter.

Added Coltart:

These seats went to ZANU PF because two distinguished MPs resigned of their own accord… Despite this utterly flawed Parliament we need to use every possible avenue to oppose tyranny.

In the absence of other viable non-violent options my own opinion, and it is just that, an opinion, is that we have no choice but to use every possible peaceful avenue to speak truth to power.

Mahere said Coltart was being “disingenuous”, reminding him of “the chronology of events” that led to the resignations which include the abduction and torture of CCC MP, Takudzwa Ngadziore by suspected State agents. Wrote Mahere:

Have you already forgotten the events that led to the resignation? Are you forgetting that whole blocs of MPs were illegally recalled? Are you forgetting that after being illegally recalled, their by-election campaigns were attacked by violent thugs? Are you forgetting that campaign team members were abducted and murdered with zero accountability?

Are you forgetting that sitting MPs were abducted and tortured while the perpetrators who were caught on video were never brought to book? Are you forgetting that our members were banned from contesting for no reason?

Are you forgetting that Zanu PF gold mafia members were then handed seats uncontested? Are you forgetting how the will of the people was desecrated in Bulawayo?

Are you forgetting that each time we took the system on in Parliament we were silenced, removed from Parliament by armed riot police and suspended?

Are you aware that they’ll only let you speak on matters that don’t offend them? Why should Zanu PF dictate who sits in Parliament?

Coltart later apologised, stating his comments were “not intended as an attack on either Mahere or Markham, both of whom are dear and trusted friends.” He said:

Yesterday my comments regarding the loss of two seats to Zanu PF in Harare spurred a vigorous debate. One thing I need to make clear is that my comments were not intended as an attack on either [Fadzayi Mahere] or Rusty Markham, both of whom are dear and trusted friends.

Ironically my comments were borne from deep sadness, concern and regret that neither of them is still in Parliament. Both are amongst the finest Parliamentarians in #Zimbabwe and our Nation is all the poorer not having them there.

However, my comments were interpreted as an attack on them and for that, I apologise unreservedly. Whilst I disagree with the policy of withdrawing from hard-won spaces in general, I shouldn’t by inference have criticized them in particular. I stress that I understand why they took their decision and my respect for them both remains undiminished.

United States of America-based opposition activist Freeman Chari accused CCC members of failing to take a principled state before the elections.

Chari said CCC could have taken a more assertive stance by rejecting the delimitation report, boycotting the elections entirely, and subsequently rejecting the election results, or resigned “en masse” in response to Tshabangu’s recall of the party’s elected representatives. Added Chari:

You had options to make hard choices but you chose the easy way out. It was wrong and it is still wrong!

Mai Titi Breathes Fire On £30,000 Creditor: “Mildred, You Won’t Get a Cent From Me!” | Heathrow Backlash

Chivhayo Provokes Chiwenga

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF apologist and Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo has angered President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s deputies Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.

This happened after Chivhayo’s recent public appearances with Mnangagwa in Bulawayo.

Sources within Zanu PF, speaking on condition of anonymity, told NewsDay that Chiwenga and Mohadi were reportedly unhappy with Mnangagwa’s association with Chivayo.

They said Mnangagwa’s recent public appearances with the ex-convict had raised eyebrows within government and party leadership.

“The vice-presidents are wondering what is really happening. Actually, they are shocked. The worst thing is that President Mnangagwa is not even telling anyone what he is up to.

“It is just between him and that boy [Chivayo]. Do not be surprised to hear that he is now a minister. There are some favours being extended to Chivayo.

“Let’s just wait and see, but like I said, soon Chivayo is goingto be given a top position within the party,” the sources said.

Mnangagwa’s public appearances with Chivayo, including reportedly sharing a private jet, have allegedly only served to intensify scrutiny and fuel speculation within Zanu PF circles.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and controversial business dealings, has been seen accompanying Mnangagwa at various events.

The two have reportedly shared a private jet, further fuelling speculation about the nature of their relationship.

However, Zanu PF director of information Farai Marapira, dismissed the allegations yesterday saying Mnangagwa has an open door policy to everyone.

He said Chivayo had been supporting Mnangagwa’s vision and policies that made him successful.

“President Mnangagwa has made billionaires out of Zimbabweans through his policies. “You look at Chivayo as one of the typical examples. He has been a success because of the policies of President Mnangagwa,” Marapira said.

He said Chivayo was also supporting Mnangagwa’s philanthropic programmes.

“Chivayo is also supporting President Mnangagwa’s vision and he is ploughing back to society.

“This shows the beauty of the President Mnangagwa policies because he encourages the youth and the young to take over the reins of the economy.

“The President is open to everyone and he is open to anyone in the county. His doors are open to each and every Zimbabwean.”

He said Mnangagwa did not bar anyone from seeing him.

“Anyone who wants to see the President is open to do so. He is listening President, if he does not open doors how can he listen?”

But political analyst Tendai Ruben Mbofana said it was not surprising that Chivayo has divided Zanu PF.

“Some Zanu PF bigwigs fear that they might be left with the gravy train, the party has never been united at all but Chivayo will further divide opinion within,” he said.

Another analyst Rejoice Ngwenya weighed in saying Chivayo has imposed himself in the Zanu PF top echelons.

“There is no doubt about Chivayo involvement in Zanu PF. He has used his money to be part of the top leadership and obviously there are people who have been part of the ruling party before independence and they will definitely feel sidelined and threatened because the young man is now close to Mnangagwa,” he said.

During the Easter holiday, Chivayo reportedly breached Zanu PF and government protocol by receiving Mnangagwa at the ZCC Mbungo shrine ahead of Mohadi.

He went on to donate US$1 million to the church to finance its national projects.

Chivayo, whose source of wealth has remained a mystery, claims he cuts multi-million-dollar deals through his company, Intratrek.

He also claims that his lucrative power and energy ventures have a presence in South Africa, among other countries.

The ruling party apologist has in recent months blessed social media influencers and popular musicians with top-of-the-range vehicles and cellphones.

Thieves Steal Mnangagwa Fish

By- Zaka Police have embarked on a search for thieves who pounced at Chinorumba High School and harvested approximately 500kgs of fish from the school fish pond.

The fish were part of the Presidential Fish scheme and the school benefited from the program earlier last year (2023) as part of the preparations for hosting one of the most subscribed Zanu PF rallies in the run-up to the 2023 harmonized elections.

The fish were donated to the school through the presidential fish scheme where schools and communities with fish ponds are getting fingerlings from the government.

School head Nixon Bhenyu confirmed the incident but could not shed more light on how it happened and referred all questions to the District Schools Inspector (DSI) Samson Chidzurira.

Chidzurira confirmed having received the report from the school and said he was told that around 500kgs of fish were stolen and a police report was made.

“I don’t have intricate details of what happened but the school head informed me of the incident and the matter has since been reported to the police,” said Chidzurira.

Commenting on the matter in Zaka Development WhatsApp platform, Zaka Central legislator and Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Davis Marapira said it was disheartening that there were still people who were against development.

He also said there was need for people to put security measures on important projects like that to avoid cases of theft.

“I am sorry for the loss and this tells me that we still have people in ward 13 who are against the President’s ideas of building the country through development. However, it is also important for people to make sure they put security measures in place when we get these projects.

“Everywhere where there are important projects even at our solarized boreholes or gardens we should have security,” wrote Marapira.

He went on to pledge to replace the stolen fish with double the amount, and assured people that the perpetrators were going to be apprehended and brought to book.

“The President’s projects cannot be stopped by people who are anti-development, the thieves will be apprehended in no time. I will bring 4000 to replace the 2000 which were stolen,” Marapira wrote.

In July 2021, a fish farmer from Chinorumba area in Muhope Village under Chief Nhema was left counting losses when he lost close to 2000 breams to thieves whom he suspected to have used nets to harvest from his fish pond.

Billiat Roasts Gamecocks

Khama Billiat scored a brace in Yadah’s 2-1 victory over Chicken Inn in the Castle Lager Premiership on Saturday.

The result saw the Church Boys registering their first ever victory at their newly constructed Heart Stadium.

Billiat’s two goals also saw him scoring in back-to-back games after netting his first strike for Yadah in the midweek.

After a pacey start, the former Warriors international opened the scoring in the ninth minute after converting from the spot.

The Gamecocks tried to regroup in the following moments but were dealt another blow after Danny Phiri received a straight red card on the quarter hour mark following a crude challenge on Blessed Ndereki.

The play was soon affected by a ten-minute stoppage towards the end of the half after Yadah were awarded a second penalty.

The visitors protested the penalty decision by leaving the pitch before returning later.

Billiat took the kick and converted again to double the cushion and completed his first brace in the league.

Chicken Inn pulled one goal back in the second half through Brendon Rendo but the effort only proved to be a mare consolation as Yadah won the match 2-1.

Bosso Eye Title

Highlanders moved two points clear at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after beating rivals CAPS United 2-0 in Sunday’s matchday nine encounter played at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Bosso cruised to the victory courtesy of first half goals from Andrew Mbeba and McKinnon Mushore.

The hosts made their intentions known in the early moments of the game when they created a couple of chances through Lynoth Chikuhwa, Mbeba and Mvelo Khoza, who was denied by the woodwork.

CAPS, on the other end, didn’t threaten much and sat deep as they tried to absorb the pressure.

However, their bubble burst in the 25th minute when Mbeba’s header found the back of the net and put Bosso ahead.

Makepekepe endured more misery in the following moments when they conceded another goal just before the half hour mark through Mushore’s effort.

The goals clearly unsettled them and the away team was lucky not to concede again in the remainder of the first half.

In the second period, Highlanders set the early pace again with a few dangerous chances through Chikuhwa and Brighton Ncube but CAPS survived the scare.

The Green Machine responded with Lot Chiwunga’s threats but Bosso keeper Raphael Pitisi managed to deal with them.

The hosts managed the remainder of the game well and preserved their lead to mark their return to winning ways after dropping points in the previous three games.

Elsewhere, FC Platinum lost 1-0 to Manica Diamonds, while Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum drew 2-2.

Embracing Plant Life for Sustainable Freedom

By A Correspondent

As South Africa commemorates the 30th anniversary of its historic first democratic election, the nation reflects on the hard-fought battles for freedom and equality.

Yet, amidst the celebrations, a poignant reminder emerges from Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty Ltd, urging not just South Africa but the entire Southern African Development Community (SADC) region to embrace plant life for sustainability.

In a statement delivered over the weekend, Mr. Moudy Mudzielwana, the director of Tshikovha Green, emphasized the symbiotic relationship between freedom and the environment.

“Our freedom will be incomplete without plants,” declared Mudzielwana, echoing the sentiment that true liberation encompasses not just human rights but also environmental stewardship.

As South Africans celebrate Freedom Day on April 27th, commemorating the end of apartheid and the dawn of democracy, Tshikovha Green’s message resonates deeply.

The historic election of 1994 marked a pivotal moment when millions of Black South Africans reclaimed their right to determine their own destinies. It was a triumph of democracy over oppression, a victory for justice and equality.

However, as the nation looks back on its journey to freedom, Tshikovha Green reminds us that true sustainability requires holistic thinking.

Just as the struggle for freedom was multifaceted, so too must be our approach to environmental conservation.

The call to embrace plant life is not merely an ecological imperative but an ethical one—a recognition of our interconnectedness with the natural world.

In advocating for the embrace of plant life, Tshikovha Green underscores the vital role of vegetation in mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring food security.

Trees, grasses, and other flora are not just passive bystanders in the fight against environmental degradation; they are active agents of regeneration and renewal.

Moreover, Tshikovha Green’s message extends beyond the borders of South Africa, encompassing the entire SADC region.

Climate change knows no boundaries, and its impacts are felt indiscriminately across nations.

Therefore, collective action and cooperation are essential in addressing the ecological challenges facing Southern Africa.

As the world grapples with the urgent need for environmental action, Tshikovha Green’s call on Freedom Day serves as a timely reminder of the intertwined nature of freedom and sustainability.

Just as the struggle for freedom required solidarity and resilience, so too does the fight for a greener, more equitable future.

In embracing plant life, we not only honor our past but also pave the way for a brighter tomorrow—a tomorrow where freedom and sustainability go hand in hand, where the flourishing of humanity is inseparable from the flourishing of the natural world.

As South Africa celebrates its hard-won freedoms, may we also recommit ourselves to protecting the precious ecosystems that sustain us all.

Tragic Murder in Matobo Shocks Community

By A Correspondent

In a chilling revelation, the Zimbabwe Republic Police disclosed a heinous crime that shook the tranquility of Halale Village in Matobo.

The incident, which transpired on the 27th of April, involved the brutal stabbing of Phikisani Moyo, a 22-year-old, by Raisemore Maseko, a mere 19-year-old.

The motive behind this gruesome act? A dispute arising from a proposition of love towards the victim’s 15-year-old nephew.

Such a tragic event not only highlights the fragility of human life but also underscores the deep-seated issues of intolerance and violence within communities.

In a statement on X the Zimbabwe Republic Police said :

“Police in Matobo have arrested Raisemore Maseko (19) in connection with a case of murder in which he stabbed Phikisani Moyo (22) with a knife on the neck, back and stomach after an argument on 27/04/24 at Halale Village.

The suspect had proposed love to the victim’s nephew (15).”

Picture : Chivayo Refuses To Wear Mnangagwa New Scarf

In a symbolic gesture that has caught the nation’s attention, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, leader of the ruling Zanu PF party, has donned a new scarf.

Many are wondering if the move is a signal of a potential shift in his leadership style.

Alongside this fashion statement, Mnangagwa’s administration has introduced a new currency, sparking hope and skepticism alike as citizens ponder whether these changes will translate into tangible improvements in their lives.

“The new scarf represents a fresh approach to leadership,” remarked a Zanu PF official, highlighting Mnangagwa’s desire to project an image of change and renewal.

Indeed, the choice of attire has become emblematic of the president’s evolving narrative, inviting speculation about the direction of his administration.

The introduction of a new currency adds another layer of significance to Mnangagwa’s latest initiatives.

Amidst economic challenges and currency instability, the decision to unveil a new monetary system signals the government’s determination to address long-standing financial woes and restore confidence in the economy.

However, as Zimbabweans cautiously observe these developments, the overarching question remains: Will Mnangagwa’s initiatives translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives?

Critics point to the complexities of Zimbabwe’s socio-economic landscape, cautioning against the belief that symbolic gestures alone can catalyze transformation.

“We need more than just a new scarf and currency; we need concrete policies and actions that address the root causes of poverty and inequality,” remarked a civil society representative.

Yet, supporters of Mr Mnangagwa remain optimistic, viewing these changes as a precursor to broader reforms aimed at uplifting the nation.

“President Mnangagwa is committed to delivering meaningful change for all Zimbabweans,” affirmed a government spokesperson, citing ongoing initiatives to revitalize key sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing.

As the nation grapples with these developments, the spotlight is on Mnangagwa’s administration to deliver on its promises and effectuate real change.

The efficacy of the new currency and the significance of the president’s symbolic gestures will ultimately be judged by their impact on the daily lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

In response to these expectations, Mnangagwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to transformative leadership.

“The new scarf and currency are symbols of our collective journey towards a better Zimbabwe,” he affirmed, signaling his resolve to steer the nation towards prosperity and stability.

Thieves Raid Mnangagwa Fish

By A Correspondent

In a bold theft, around 500 kilograms of fish vanished from Chinorumba High School in Zaka, Zimbabwe.

The stolen fish, integral to the school’s resources, were part of the Presidential Fish scheme acquired through the Presidential Rural Development Programme.

Authorities are actively pursuing the culprits who targeted the school’s fish pond, leaving behind a wake of frustration and anger, as reported by TellZim news.

Confirming the incident, school head Nixon Bhenyu stressed the urgency of bolstering security measures to safeguard such vital assets.

Expressing concern, District Schools Inspector Samson Chidzurira highlighted the significance of protecting development projects from such acts of sabotage.

In response, Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Davis Marapira, denounced the crime, pledging to replace the stolen fish and ensure justice is served.

This event underscores the persistent challenges confronting development efforts in Zimbabwe and underscores the necessity for heightened security to protect essential resources earmarked for community advancement.

Chiwenga Secures Visa-Free Travel to Iran for Zimbabweans Are You Going There?

By A Correspondent

In a so called diplomatic triumph, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has successfully negotiated the removal of visa requirements for Zimbabwean travelers visiting Iran.

This landmark agreement, announced by the government, signifies a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

“With effect from February this year, any ordinary passport-carrying Zimbabwean can travel to Iran without the need for a visa,” a government spokesperson stated.

This development opens up new avenues for Zimbabweans interested in exploring business opportunities or experiencing Iran’s rich cultural heritage through tourism.

The removal of visa restrictions marks a tangible outcome of Vice Chiwenga’s diplomatic mission to Iran, where he engaged in talks with the country’s President.

His efforts have paved the way for easier access to Iran, fostering closer ties between the two nations.

In addition to facilitating travel, Iran also extends educational opportunities to Zimbabwean students through scholarships.

This initiative underscores the mutual commitment to strengthening people-to-people connections and fostering academic exchange between Zimbabwe and Iran.

While this diplomatic achievement is commendable, questions linger regarding its potential impact on the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

Beyond the realm of diplomatic triumphs, the crucial test lies in whether such agreements translate into tangible benefits for the citizens of Zimbabwe.

Critics and skeptics alike are scrutinizing the outcomes of these negotiations, questioning whether they will translate into improved livelihoods and opportunities for Zimbabweans.

While easier access to Iran holds promise for business ventures and cultural exchange, the true measure of success will be its ability to positively impact the daily lives of Zimbabweans.

In response to these queries, Chiwenga emphasized the significance of diplomatic engagements in creating opportunities for Zimbabweans.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to pursuing initiatives that prioritize the welfare and prosperity of its citizens.

As Zimbabweans reflect on this diplomatic feat, the spotlight remains on how such agreements will be leveraged to drive socio-economic development and empower the populace.

Beyond the removal of visa requirements, the challenge lies in harnessing the potential of bilateral relations to address pressing issues and unlock opportunities for growth.

Chiwenga’s so called successful negotiation of visa-free travel to Iran marks a notable achievement in diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and Iran.

However, the ultimate test lies in ensuring that such agreements translate into tangible benefits for Zimbabweans, contributing to their well-being and prosperity.

As the nation looks towards the future, the efficacy of these diplomatic endeavors will be measured by their ability to foster inclusive growth and enhance the quality of life for all citizens.

Posting on X Monday morning, Coltart admitted that his comments regarding the Mt Pleasant and Harare East parliamentary seats which are now in Zanu PF’s hands had caused vigorous debate.

He said his comments were not an attack on Mahere and Markham but a deep concern that both of them are nolonger in what he called hard-won spaces.

“Yesterday my comments regarding the loss of two seats to Zanu PF in Harare spurred a vigorous debate. One thing I need to make clear is that my comments were not intended as an attack on either @advocatemahere or @Katazamhondoro Rusty Markham , both of whom are dear and trusted friends. Ironically my comments were borne from deep sadness, concern and regret that neither of them are still in Parliament. Both are amongst the finest Parliamentarians in #Zimbabwe and our Nation is all the poorer not having them there. However my comments were interpreted as an attack on them and for that I apologise unreservedly. Whilst I disagree with the policy of withdrawing from hard-won spaces in general, I shouldn’t by inference have criticized them in particular. I stress that I understand why they took their decision and my respect for them both remains undiminished,” said Coltart.

On Sunday, Coltart torched a political storm when he said Mahere and Markham had resigned on their accord while exonerating Tshabangu.

Pro-Chamisa members descended on him with viciousness with some labelling him a mistake while some expressed sadness that the democratic movement had lost him.

Another Top Chamisa Ally Sells-Out

By A Correspondent| Kuwadzana legislator and former MDC Alliance Secretary General Charlton Hwende has defended Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart who is under fire over comments he made on a ZimEye X post, attacking Advocate Fadzayi Mahere and Norman Markham.

Responding to Coltart, Hwende said truth has to be said, while he accused the blue movement linked to former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa of fielding candidates in by-elections when Mahere and Markham resigned in solidarity with the youthful politician.

“Thank you David we must always be truthful!! If they resigned in solidarity with President Chamisa why did the so called blue movement field candidates that they were lying that President Chamisa has endorsed them ? They even added his picture. Lies and deception must Stop,” said Hwende.

Coltart torched a political storm when he exonerated Sengezo Tshabangu from the political mess that saw CCC losing Harare East and Mt Pleasant parliamentary seats to Zanu PF after Mahere and Markham resigned in solidarity with Chamisa.

Coltart said the two resigned of their own accord.

He was responding to a ZimEye tweet which said the seats had been lost thanks to Tshabangu.

Armed Robbers Gunned Down In Bulawayo

Two armed robbery suspects accused of disarming prison guards at Khami Prison near Bulawayo on March 21 and stealing an AK47 rifle have been shot dead in police custody.

Never Moyo, 48, of Nkulumane 11 and Bhekimpilo Sibanda, 43, of Kezi “suddenly became violent in a bid to disarm one of the police officers of his AK47” and were subsequently shot dead on April 26, police said.

The men had been booked out of Bulawayo Central Police Station for “indications” near Khami Dam where they had hidden two guns.

A third suspect, Jerry Arnold Gumbo, 48, of Maphisa, is in police custody.

The killing of the two men in police custody is the latest in a string of similar incidents which have led to accusations that police are summarily executing suspects. In all the incidents, police said they were protecting themselves and deny unlawful killings.

Police say at around 2AM on March 21, Moyo and Sibanda who were armed with a pistol and an electric shock stun gun crept up on prison guards at Khami Prison and robbed them of an AK47.

The men then allegedly went on a spree robbing shops and stealing motor vehicles.

On March 23, Moyo and Sibanda allegedly struck at the Meat Company in Njube suburb and grabbed US$1,800 and R1,400 from the cash till.

On April 2, they boarded a Pumula-bound Honda Fit in Nkulumane before pulling out a gun and allegedly robbing Udin Nyoni of the vehicle and US$60 in cash.

On the same day, staff at FMG Wholesale in central Bulawayo were allegedly accosted by Moyo and Sibanda who were armed with an AK47 and a pistol. The two men forced staff to open the cash till and emptied it of US$780.

A day later, on April 3, teacher Yedwa Ncube of Old Lobengula arrived home just after 8PM and parked in front of his house before going to open the gate. Moyo and Sibanda appeared from the darkness and produced guns before robbing him of his vehicle and two phones.

Three illegal foreign currency dealers at Nkulumane Complex – Siphilile Mabhena, Vusile Moyo and Mlungisi Sigauke – would be the next victims. On April 4, Sibanda and Moyo allegedly approached them while armed with an AK47 and a pistol and demanded cash. The trio was robbed of R1,000, US$1,800 and US$1,400 respectively.

On April 18, Mlungisi Sigauke of Old Lobengula had just parked outside his house at 7PM when Moyo and Sibanda suddenly emerged and forced him to hand over his car keys for his unidentified vehicle at gun point. The duo drove off at high speed.

Two days later, on April 20, Moyo and Sibanda allegedly stormed the Maphisa Post Office and ordered Enest Dube to open the safe at gun point. They grabbed US$2,240 from the safe.

Police raided Moyo’s Nkulumane 11 residence on April 26 after a tip-off that he had a gun. After he was detained, police recovered an AK47 rifle with eight rounds and a black pistol pellet gun. Also recovered were two hand-held Bao-Feng communication radios.

Moyo, according to police, implicated Sibanda in all the robberies and the third suspect Gumbo in the Maphisa Post Office robbery only.

Sibanda and Gumbo were arrested at their rural homes without incident.

On April 26, Moyo and Sibanda led police to Khami Dam where they said they had hidden two guns. Police recovered an FN Browning pistol and a Taurus revolver.

“The accused persons suddenly became violent in a bid to disarm one of the police officers of his AK47 rifle. They were subsequently shot by alert police details and sustained gunshot wounds to their backs. They were rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where they died on admission,” a police report said.

Chamisa Hints On Massive Come Back

By Political Reporter- The country’s most popular politician, Nelson Chamisa’s blue-eyed boy, Ostallos Gift Siziba, has hinted at the comeback of the charismatic politician.

Posting on his X account, Siziba said:

Our task is to build a solid organization, one that can outlive all of us. A Mass Citizens Movement grounded on the strong values of Justice, Freedom and Solidarity. A vehicle through which the oppressed people of Zimbabwe can express themselves. This is the task we are seized with.

Kasukuwere Denies Writing An Apology Letter to Zanu PF

By A Correspondent| Self-exiled former cabinet minister Savior Kasukuwere has denied writing a letter of apology to Zanu PF.

This follows one C Mukungunugwa’s post on X where he said Kasukuwere and Mzembi had written to Zanu PF apologizing and seeking re-admission into the ruling party.

“I’ve just been infomed that the duo,@Hon_Kasukuwere and @waltermzembi have written a 5 page long letter of apology seeking to be readmitted back to the Revolutionary Party ZanuPF,this comes after almost 7 years of their stay in exile, more details coming, kwapisa kunze uko,” said Mukungunugwa.

In response, Kasukuwere dared Mukungunugwa to produce the letter confirming his allegations

Mzembi also joined in warning Mukungunugwa to stop misrepresenting facts adding that he has no reason to apologize.

“Stop misrepresenting Cdes. Under my hand , I have not written to anyone asking for forgiveness. What would I be asking forgiveness for ? I asked God for forgiveness many a time and every day . That ( forgiveness) I only ask from the Lord God Almighty , He alone genuinely forgives. The rest is vanity,” said Mzembi.

Tshabangu Donates Harare To Mnangagwa

By Political Reporter- The Sengezo Tshabangu-led CCC opposition has once again donated more parliament seats to Zanu PF.

This time, he handed over Mt Pleasant and Harare East National Assembly constituencies in by-elections over the weekend.

Zanu PF now has seven seats in Harare Metropolitan Province, the largest block since opposition inroads in 2000.

In Mt Pleasant Constituency, Zanu PF candidate George Mashavave secured victory, garnering 3 205 votes. In contrast, his closest rival, Mr Naison Mamuse, an independent candidate formerly associated with CCC, trailed behind with 945 votes.

Another independent candidate, Mr Brian Ticky, received 220 votes.

Mt Pleasant Constituency became vacant after Ms Fadzayi Mahere resigned from CCC in solidarity with the former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa.

In Harare East, Zanu PF candidate Kiven Mutimbanyoka triumphed against Mrs Ropafadzo Cheza, an independent candidate formerly associated with the CCC.

Mutimbanyoka secured 3 533 votes, while Mrs Cheza received 1 974.

There were 51 rejected ballot papers, and the percentage poll was 15,2.

Harare East became vacant following the resignation of Mr Norman “Rusty” Markham, who also left CCC in solidarity with Chamisa.

Hwende Fights In David Coltart’s Corner

National Youth Service Turned Into A Zanu PF Program

By A Correspondent| The ruling party ZANU PF has been accused of hijacking the soon-to-be-relaunched controversial National Youth Service (NYS) program, offering enticing incentives to lure youths into registration amid widespread disinterest in what has been deemed a “politicized” initiative.

“The national youth service training, which runs for six months, will restart in June this year at Dadaya and Vumba training centres,” stated an official announcement.

Amidst expectations of 1,000 youths to register for the program, concerns arose as officials noted a disappointingly low registration rate. This prompted ZANU PF to initiate a parallel registration drive, allegedly promising youths various perks in exchange for participation.

“The youth were also being promised automatic entrance to civil service professions such as teaching, nursing, police, army and others upon completion of the six-month training,” revealed sources close to the matter.

In a bid to ensure full participation, ZANU PF officials have reportedly mobilized efforts down to the grassroots level.

“We support this in any way we see fit and whether this will please our detractors or not it’s neither here nor there, but what I can say is our National Youth Service is oversubscribed just like our Chitepo School of Ideology which is overwhelmed,” declared ZANU PF director of information, Farai Marapira.

Despite attempts to reach Youth Empowerment Minister Tinoda Machakaire for comment, no response has been received as of yet.

The NYS program, initially launched in 2001, has faced vehement criticism, being labeled a breeding ground for the feared ZANU PF youth brigades, notoriously known as “green bombers.” These brigades have been accused of perpetrating electoral violence, including instances of rape and murder, according to human rights reports.

David Coltart Feels The Heat Over Reckless Comments

By A Correspondent| Bulawayo Mayor Councillor David Coltart has apologized to Advocate Fadzayi Mahere and Norman Markham over the comments he made on X where he exonerated self-proclaimed CCC Interim Secretary General of the mess in the opposition movement.

Bad Blood between Chiwenga and Mohadi as Zanupf Succession Battles Escalate

Zimbabwe is run by highly tribalistic, divisive, corrupt and ever emotional former members of a razzmatazz ZANU pf armed wing known as ZANLA. Its war strategy was to shoot randomly and run for dear life. They lacked political capacity to plan how Zimbabweans, in their diversity, would govern themselves in the envisaged post colonial Zimbabwe , they had no clear succession plan, no economic plan, just a bunch of political drama queens, kings and clowns who later gained fame in the whole world for everything politically wrong.

They believe that dividing people based on tribal or racial lines to marginalize and oppress those they deem not Zimbabwean enough is good governance. They think that spilling innocent blood of Matabeles is the most exiting part of their dirty sport. They think that corruption and plundering of the resources is self empowerment. They think that practising witchcraft and performing human sacrifices is justified to please demonic spirits that control and direct the Zanupf leadership who sold the country to the Devil so as to be given power in 1980. Many Shona people do not know that Robert Mugabe sold the country to the Devil to be declared winner of 1980 elections which he did not win. Since then Zanupf has remained a cult.

The ideological and intellectual poverty is evident and crystal clear now more than ever before. Chickens have come home to roost.

Due to lack of clear succession plan and dictatorial tendencies in the Zanu pf government, Zimbabwe risks being turned into a hereditary dictatorship like North Korea that is ruled by the Kim family. Robert Mugabe nearly achieved it when his wife Grace Mugabe was one interface rally away from being named as late President Mugabe’s successor.

The incumbent President of Zimbabwe Mr Mnangagwa is putting his ducks in a row. His close family members including his wife, children, grand children, in-laws, cousins, aunts, nieces and fellow Karangas have taken all strategic positions probably to prepare for a Mnangagwa third term or take over by one of their own. That is a second attempt by another Shona tribe to turn Zimbabwe into a Karanga dynasty.

Joshua Nkomo, President of ZAPU saw it coming. Just six years into independence in 1986 he said, “the hardest lesson of my life has come to me late. It is that a nation can win freedom without its people becoming free.” He further said, “no country can live by slogans, pasi (down with) this and pasi that.” That was an accurate prediction of what is happening today.

It is in the public domain that the binary state named Zimbabwe, that came into existence on 18 April 1980, is living on borrowed time. Irked by the unresolved Matabele genocide of 1981- 87, tribal oppression, tribal hegemony, tribal discrimination, gross human rights abuse, witchcraft, uncontrolled and unpunished corruption and failure to run the economy by the Shona supremacist government of Zimbabwe, Matabeleland Liberation Organisation, in 2015, served the same government with a Notice Of Demand For The Restoration Of Matabeleland State. Due to its nature of dishonesty and deceit the government of Zimbabwe has made no effort to inform the Zimbabweans or Shona people and more importantly, the investors that as of 2015, Matabeleland became a contested territory.

Zimbabwe AKA Mashonaland will further fragment into smaller chieftains, an order that existed in Mashonaland pre colonialism. Manyikas and Ndao people in Manyikaland that are viewed as not Shona enough to produce the President of Zimbabwe could be the next Shona group that may pull out of Zimbabwe and be led by their chief.

Manicaland is rich in diamond, oil, gas and huge estates but the masses of Manicaland do not benefit from their resources. It has produced many good leaders like Ndabaning Sithole, Herbert Chitepo, Edgar Tekere, Arthur Mutambara and the ZANU PF noisy lot, Patrick Chinamasa and Christopher Mutsvangwa. No matter how good they are, they have never made it to the highest position of the President of Zimbabwe thanks to tribalism. They are seen as foreigners from Mozambique.

Patrick Chinamasa and Christopher Mutsvangwa were used by Mugabe as political security guards to secure the Zezuru- Korekore rule. The two formed a formidable security team.

Their good performance could not go without being noticed by Emmerson Mnangagwa, a long time Mugabe aide. He roped them into his team to play the similar role. Everyone knows that before you get to Mnangagwa or Karangas, you have to pass through Patrick Chinamasa and Christopher Mutsvanga. But whether they know it or not, they will never rise to the highest position in the land.

The Zezuru- Korekore Alliance is to blame for allowing the demon of tribalism to thrive in Zimbabwe. Actually, they rode on the tribal demon for 37 good years only to fall on their own sword in 2017 when one of their own, Rt General Constantino Chiwenga, bereft of political education and totally ignorant of the Zezuru-Korekore Alliance tribal political game, staged a coup that removed Mugabe from power. And that was the end of the Zezuru dynasty.

Zezurus have been calling the shots in Zimbabwe for 37 years in which they became addicted to power and life of luxury. They will not live in the political wilderness for too long. After a few attempts to political glory, they will give up, unite Harare, Central Mashonaland, Mashonaland East and West Province to go back to the pre- colonial political set up when they were ruled by a Chief.

The Karangas will hold on to Masvingo Province. After tasting political power and experiencing the pain of being ruled by fellow tribalists they will not allow any other tribe to rule them again.

Kembo Mohadi is the last person to be considered as successor by Emmerson Mnangagwa due to his Matabele back ground. Even if Mnangagwa manages to impose him as his puppet, he will not last a second in office. The anti Matabele Shona masses from ZANU PF and opposition will unite and chase him out of Harare and he would be lucky to leave Mashonaland in one piece. For now Emmerson Mnangagwa is using him as a decoy to confuse and frustrate the Zezuru-Korekore Alliance under the presumptive leadership of Rt General Constantino Chiwenga AKA Dominic Chinhenge. Emmerson Mnangagwa wishes and plans to declare himself Zimbabwe Life President but if he fails he will push for one of his sons David or Kuda or Emmerson Junior or his wife Auxilia to be President and if all these fail his last choice is his brother General Philip Valerio Sibanda the current Commander of Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

Mohadi is from the powerful Matabele nation but he has no backing of Matabele masses. Matabeles no longer want to be part of Zimbabwe due to 44 long years of Matabele genocide, tribal oppression, Shona domination, tribal discrimination, dehuminisation and demonisation. Constantino Chiwenga leads a deeply divided Zezuru- Korekore Alliance which is angry with him for taking political power from their god farther Robert Mugabe to hand it over to Emmerson Mnangagwa on a silver platter.

The biggest question in Mashonaland right now is which Shona tribe will rule Zimbabwe permanently and continuously control the vast wealth or which Shona tribe will allow itself to be ruled by another to miss out on the plundering of national resources? In Matabeleland the question is when will Matabeleland regain its independence and sovereignty from Zimbabwe?

Zanu PF Hooligans Attack Chamisa Aide

By A Correspondent

In a disturbing incident of political violence, Madzibaba VeShanduko, a staunch supporter of opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, was violently assaulted today while attempting to protect a fellow supporter during a public gathering.

The supporter, known by his religious title but identified as Godfrey Karembera, reported the attack from Mabvuku Police Station, seeking refuge and filing a formal complaint.

The altercation unfolded when Mai Cheza, another prominent advocate for Chamisa, was allegedly slapped by unidentified assailants during a heated exchange.

Karembera, intervening to shield Mai Cheza, became the target of a sudden and vicious assault.

“When they struck the honorable lady on her cheek and I moved to defend her, they all pounced on me,” Karembera recounted the terrifying ordeal to the media.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene with multiple individuals attacking Karembera, a well-known figure in the community recognized for his peaceful activism and signature red robe.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, with officers at Mabvuku station confirming the collection of several statements and the initiation of a search for the assailants.

This assault on Karembera underscores the escalating tension and violence observed in political gatherings of late.

The incident raises significant concerns regarding safety during political events and the apparent targeting of opposition figures and their supporters.

Human rights organizations and political analysts are urging for calm and a comprehensive investigation into the incident to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.

“Such acts of violence pose a threat to the democratic process and must be swiftly addressed to prevent further escalation,” emphasized a local human rights advocate.

ZRP Speaks On Chivhu Terrible Tragedy

By A Correspondent

The aftermath of a devastating road accident on April 26 along the Harare-Masvingo Road has left 16 people dead, according to police reports.

“We are dealing with a terrible tragedy,” Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi remarked.

“Our officers responded to a collision at the 52-kilometer peg on the Harare-Masvingo Road that involved multiple vehicles, including a haulage truck and a passenger bus carrying church members,” he continued.

The fatal incident occurred when a haulage truck rear-ended a VW Polo before colliding head-on with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus transporting 44 members of the Angels Family Apostolic Church to the Makumumavi Shrine. “It’s a devastating blow to the community,” Nyathi expressed.

In the wake of the disaster, a poignant detail emerges with the identification of victims, with the police releasing the names of eleven of the sixteen deceased.

The list includes young children and adults alike, such as Kelly Kwenda, a three-year-old girl, and Decision Maizivei, a 26-year-old man, painting a stark picture of the loss.

“In the wake of this incident, our message to the public is clear: abide by the road rules and regulations. Your safety and the safety of others depend on it,” Nyathi urged, emphasizing the importance of road safety.

Mnangagwa Loses Fish To Thieves

Theft of Presidential Fish Sparks Outrage in Zimbabwe**

In a brazen act of theft, approximately 500 kilograms of fish were stolen from Chinorumba High School in Zaka, Zimbabwe. The stolen fish, part of the Presidential Fish scheme, were a vital resource for the school, acquired through the Presidential Rural Development Programme.

Authorities are actively seeking the perpetrators, who targeted the school’s fish pond, leaving behind a trail of frustration and anger, the TellZim news reports.

School head Nixon Bhenyu confirmed the incident, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures to protect such crucial assets.

District Schools Inspector Samson Chidzurira expressed concern over the theft, highlighting the importance of safeguarding development projects against such acts of sabotage. In response to the theft, Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Davis Marapira, condemned the crime, vowing to replace the stolen fish and ensure the culprits are brought to justice.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges facing development initiatives in Zimbabwe and serves as a reminder of the need for enhanced security measures to protect vital resources meant for community development.

Klopp, Salah In Explosive Row

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp and his forward Mohamed Salah had an explosive touchline row during the team’s Saturday 2-2 draw with West Ham.

The heated exchange happened as Salah was set to be introduced in the 82nd minute after he started on the bench.

The Egyptian star gestured towards the Reds gaffer before Darwin Nunez, who was also on the touchline waiting to be subbed on, was forced to intervene between and separate the pair.

Speaking after the match, Klopp said there is no issue with Salah after the two spoke in the dressing room following the final whistle.

“No. We spoke already in the dressing room. For me it’s done,” the gaffer responded when asked if he could explain what happened.

Video : Is Chivayo Eclipsing Emmerson Mnangagwa?

By A Correspondent

In the intricate landscape of Zimbabwean politics, the dynamics of power and influence often play out in unexpected ways.

Recently, a video clip captured at Joshua Nkomo Airport has sparked speculation about the shifting spotlight between controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The footage, disseminated by Varakashi, a Zanu PF propaganda team, depicts Chivayo commanding the attention of a crowd, raising questions about his growing prominence within the political arena.

As a well-known figure with ties to the ruling party, Chivayo’s public presence has become increasingly conspicuous, leading some to ponder whether he is eclipsing the visibility of President Mnangagwa.

Chivayo’s flamboyant persona and penchant for controversy have undoubtedly made him a polarizing figure in Zimbabwean society.

His high-profile legal battles and ostentatious displays of wealth have frequently captured headlines, drawing both fascination and ire from the public.

On the other hand, President Mnangagwa, who assumed office in 2017, has been tasked with steering Zimbabwe through a tumultuous period of economic reform and political transition.

While his administration has made strides in certain areas, challenges persist, including widespread poverty, corruption, and human rights concerns.

Against this backdrop, the emergence of Chivayo as a focal point of public attention raises questions about its implications for Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Some observers argue that Chivayo’s growing visibility may detract from the president’s efforts to maintain control and promote his agenda.

However, others contend that Chivayo’s influence may be more superficial than substantive, merely serving as a distraction from the broader issues facing Zimbabwe.

While his antics may attract temporary interest, they argue, the enduring challenges of governance and development require sustained attention and action from political leaders.

Moreover, the relationship between Chivayo and Mnangagwa remains complex and multifaceted. As a purported affiliate of Zanu PF, Chivayo’s actions and statements may reflect broader dynamics within the ruling party, potentially influencing perceptions of the president and his administration.

Ultimately, the significance of Chivayo’s role in Zimbabwean politics may hinge on the extent to which he is able to translate his visibility into tangible political influence or outcomes.

While his ability to capture attention is undeniable, the enduring impact of his actions on the country’s trajectory remains uncertain.

As Zimbabwe continues to navigate the complexities of its political landscape, the interplay between figures like Chivayo and Mnangagwa serves as a reminder of the dynamic nature of power and influence.

Whether Chivayo’s rise signals a fundamental shift in the political landscape or merely a passing spectacle, only time will tell.

In the meantime, Zimbabweans remain vigilant, watching closely as events unfold and shaping the course of their nation’s future.

Coltart Criticises MPs Who Follow Chamisa

By Farai D Hove | Bulawayo Mayor, David Coltart has openly attacked members of parliament who follow Nelson Chamisa.

Writing on Sunday, Coltart, slammed people who follow Chamisa who recently resigned from the Mnangagwa supported-Sengezo Tshabangu’s CCC party.

David Coltart

Three MPs have resigned to follow Chamisa and Coltart was today saying contestants who lost in the Saturday bi elections did so because many have chosen to follow Chamisa.

“With respect this isn’t factual. These seats went to Zanu because two distinguished MPs resigned of their own accordd…Whilst of course Tshabangu was a contributing factor democrats handed these seats to Zanu PF on a platter,” wrote Coltart.

He was supported by the Tshabangu MP, Chalton Hwende who wrote saying, “Thank you David we must always be truthful!! If they resigned in solidarity with President Chamisa why did the so called blue movement field candidates that they were lying that President Chamisa has endorsed them ?

“They even added his picture. Lies and deception must Stop.”

But, Human Rights Director, Comfort Dondo asked saying,” David Coltart, is this not evidence you are endorsing Mnangagwa’s lawlessness as you say Chamisa’s MPs must remain in that unlawful parliament, and as a lawyer, are you not clearly campaigning for what the the IPU has ruled must be reversed, which has gotten people like Bishop Masaya killed? What miracle will you do to reverse the criminality that’s eating Zimbabwe right now as you fail to resign: to do what all other real revolutionaries- PF & ZAPU resigned from Rhodesia/Mzorewa engagements in 1975-7 and created a revolution; Tsvangirai resigned from elections in 2008 and froze the whole continent.

“Are you greater than these revolutionaries as @advocatemahere asks…?”

Mai Titi Detained at London Heathrow?

By Showbiz Reporter | In an unfolding story, controversial Zimbabwean socialite Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Titi, has reportedly been detained upon her arrival at London’s Heathrow Airport and placed on a return flight, according to a source speaking with ZimEye.

The first indications of trouble emerged on Saturday when reports surfaced that Mai Titi was denied entry while queued at the airport. Witnesses claim she was pulled aside by authorities and subjected to questioning. Despite efforts to reach out to the UK Border Force for a formal response, no official statement has been forthcoming at the time of writing.

One of the messages sent ZimEye on Sunday

Compounding concerns about Mai Titi’s status are multiple sources who, over the course of Saturday to Sunday, reaffirmed allegations of her detention, pointing to her sudden disappearance from social media as a significant indicator of her predicament. Normally active online, Mai Titi’s abrupt silence has fueled speculation and concern among her followers and observers.

As the story develops, ZimEye continues to seek comments from UK immigration officials to provide clarity on the situation. This incident raises questions about the circumstances surrounding Mai Titi’s visit to the UK and the reasons behind her alleged detention.

Winky D Exposes Wicknell Chivayo In Song

Winky D’s Lyrical Mirror: Reflecting the Wicknell Chivayo Saga Through Music

By Showbiz Reporter | Amid the flashing lights and the high-profile alignments that characterize the life of the controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, an unexpected voice has entered the fray. Winky D, the revered Zimbabwean dancehall artist, has revisited his hit track “Rokesheni” with a fresh and pointedly sarcastic twist aimed squarely at Chivayo’s recent boastful pronouncements and his notorious past.

In a bold freestyle that caught the attention of both his fans and political commentators, Winky D has woven the narrative of Chivayo’s controversial statement—made in the presence of African presidents—into his music. The lyrics, “Usamboda kuvabvisa pachigaro vanokupa mabhutsu hobho fanike chivhayo, chisiyana nesu vemu location,” translate to a poignant message: “Don’t try to remove them from power; they will give you plenty of boots, just like Chivayo. Leave us, the locals, out of it.” This line starkly critiques the alliances between the powerful and those with murky financial histories, encapsulating the disconnect between the elite and the ordinary citizens.

Winky D’s freestyle is more than a musical interlude; it’s a socio-political commentary that resonates deeply with the Zimbabwean populace. It underscores the frustrations of the masses with the seeming impunity enjoyed by individuals like Chivayo, who despite a past marred by convictions of money laundering, continues to flourish, seemingly buffered by his political connections.

The dancehall maestro’s lyrics underscore a broader societal critique, pointing out how the affluent and politically connected can manipulate systems to their advantage, often at the cost of everyday citizens. By aligning Chivayo with those who are ‘given boots’, Winky D uses metaphorical language to suggest that such individuals are equipped and enabled by those in power, walking over the struggles of the common people.

The impact of Winky D’s freestyle extends beyond entertainment; it prompts a reflection on the integrity of the presidency and the broader implications of political associations in Zimbabwe. It also highlights the role of artists as societal watchdogs and commentators, who through their art, can influence public discourse and potentially sway public policy.

This musical interjection by Winky D serves as a call to action, a reminder that the arts can be a powerful tool for societal reflection and change. It challenges listeners to think critically about the state of their governance and the characters who are allowed to maneuver within it, often unchecked. Winky D’s voice, layered with irony and critique, becomes a rallying cry for accountability and transparency within Zimbabwe’s corridors of power.

As the song reverberates through the streets of Harare and beyond, it is a stark reminder that while politicians may come and go, the voices that challenge their narratives will continue to resonate through the power of music and the arts.

Zanu PF Thugs Violently Attack Madzibaba VeShanduko During Political Gathering

The Power Behind The Black Market Lies In Power

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | The malignant force currently waging war against Zimbabwe’s gold is the black market. The survival of ZiG hinges on the efficacy of the counterattacks directed at the black market. Failure to confront the black market with equal force as one would an adversary would spell doom for ZiG. But what exactly constitutes the black market, and who orchestrates its operations?

The black market denotes economic activities conducted outside sanctioned government channels. These illicit transactions typically circumvent government regulations, such as price controls and taxes, either by trading illegal goods/services or by avoiding taxation on legal ones. The strength of any economy is often gauged by the vigor of its black market. Such clandestine operations thrive on corruption, often involving individuals wielding significant power. It’s imperative to introspect and scrutinize our business partnerships before assigning blame elsewhere.

To uproot the black market and safeguard Zimbabwe’s economy, it’s crucial to target its origins comprehensively. Whether dealing with physical or virtual transactions, the black market operates beyond legal frameworks, making detection challenging. While its name originated from racial connotations, it signifies the opacity of its activities compared to legitimate markets.

Even seemingly legal businesses can contribute to the black market by evading taxes or regulations. The black market’s encroachment on ZiG, offering an alternative currency in US dollars, erodes ZiG’s value. Those controlling the US dollar exert influence over its users, exacerbating economic instability. Only those with abundant US dollars can effectively counter the black market’s influence.

Efforts to combat the black market are hindered by its clandestine nature, complicating accurate assessments of its scale and impact. Unemployment and government restrictions often drive individuals into illegal activities, further fueling the black market’s growth. Cash transactions dominate these underground markets to evade scrutiny.

Black markets undermine legitimate businesses, distort market dynamics, and deprive governments of revenue. The absence of official records skews economic indicators, understating a country’s GDP. To curtail black market activities, a concerted effort is needed to apprehend its key players, regardless of their proximity to power.

Ultimately, individuals’ actions determine the fate of Zimbabwe’s currency. Honest efforts to combat the black market and support the official economy are essential. In this struggle, every citizen plays a pivotal role in safeguarding Zimbabwe’s future.

Chivhu Tragedy: 16 Lives Lost in Fatal Accident

Lobengula Insulting ZBC DJ Gets Job Back

By Showbiz Reporter- The state broadcaster ZB has lifted the suspension on Farai Magada, who was suspended together with Victoria Manase over their jibe at King Lobengula.

Victoria Manase, blamed colonial-era abuses on black people by whites on 1800s Ndebele King Lobengula whom she claims was enticed by sugar.

Manase said this live on national television while presenting Good Morning Zimbabwe (GMZ).

Co-host Farai Magada sensationally added that colonialism, despite its ‘ills’ was a necessary evil as they could now ‘sit in front of cameras and wear proper clothes not nhembe.’

Manase’s comments perpetuated a harmful stereotype about King Lobengula. This stereotype blames him for signing the Rudd Concession, which ultimately led to Zimbabwe’s colonisation.

A local media house recently caused outrage by merging an image of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu with King Lobengula, both holding a packet of sugar.

A source, who spoke to the Standard Style, revealed that Magada had been retained, but moved to Classic 263 radio station.

“Magada is back, but she has been reassigned to Classic 263, while Manase has left the organisation since she was a part time presenter,” said the source.

“Magada went for a disciplinary hearing and was given a written warning.”

Political analyst Effie Ncube said the media should serve to unite and strengthen the nation, rather than inciting hatred and division among each other.

“While I do not know what happened behind the scenes and whether or not the presenter was given history lessons first, as a country we should not embrace hate speech and ignore the pain it causes in others,” Ncube said.

“The media should be used for uniting and building the nation and not for fanning the flames of hate that will turn us against each other.

“The remarks the presenters made on national television were demeaning and provocative and in clear violation of the laws of the country.”

He said returning the presenter back so soon should have been accompanied by a statement from the government and the ZBC clarifying the circumstances of her return.

“Whether or not she has successfully been rehabilitated, and what has happened in the case she was implicated in,” Ncube said.

“Silence may be wrongly interpreted leading to the deepening of social polarisation. This is a serious matter that should be handled with greatest care.”

Matabeleland-based human rights watchdog, Ibhetshu LikaZulu secretary-general Mbuso Fuzwayo said he was not surprised with her comeback.

“I am not surprised she is back at work. The government is the culprit because they go to Pupu and build a plaque for General Mtshana, little is said about the king. The putting, unveiling of the plaque is the missed opportunity to correct the misinformation,” he said.

“She publicly said what they say in private, and it’s a long held belief. They always make fun about the Ndebele kingdom, the creation of non-existent kings is a counter or reactionary response to the Ndebele monarchy.”

late last year Magada was involved in a sexual harassment scandal pitting herself and senior broadcaster Robson Mhandu.

Mhandu was suspended following allegations that he demanded sexual favours from Magada, as a condition for approving her transfer request from Bulawayo to Harare.

In a leaked audio recording of their meeting at his office, Mhandu told Magada that she needed to “motivate me by work and number two, the obvious… it’s a combination of the two.” He further threatened to send her back to Bulawayo if she refused.

Mhandu persistently referred to Magada as “honey,” “darling,” and “sweetheart” in WhatsApp messages as he continued to pressure her for sexual favours.

In response to Magada’s question about whether her transfer depended on sex, Mhandu stated, “It’s one million percent guaranteed… Remember you moved from Khulumani FM to Classic 263 on my signature MaMoyo. Your talk of guarantees is purely a sign of disrespect from a typical Zimbabwean woman.” Standard

Madzibaba Ishmael Barred From Congregating

By Religion Reporter- The High Court has granted the controversial religious cult leader, Ishmael Chokurongerwa, popularly known as Madzibaba Ishmael,  granted bail and ordered him to stop conducting church services.

Madzibaba Ishmael had spent almost two months in remand prison.

Chokurongerwa (54), who leads the Johanne Masowe Penyera Nyika sect, and seven other members of the sect, were arrested for allegedly violating the Burial and Children’s Act, respectively.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the High Court ruled that there was no longer any risk that Madzibaba Ishmael would interfere with witnesses, hence the decision to grant him bail.

Apart from an order to deposit US$ 1,000 with the clerk of court Norton Magistrstes’ Court, the High Court also barred Chokurongerwa from conducting any church gatherings anywhere until the matter is finalised.

He was also ordered not to interfere with witnesses directly or indirectly until the matter is finalised and to report to the police three times a week.

Chokurongerwa’s co-accused; Shingirai Ngawafune (42), Takavengwa Gwenzi (55), Zebedia Sigudu (49), Devlodge Katsande (47), Wonder Kabaya (41), and Siribinio Chikurunhe (53) were granted bail early this month by the Harare High Court.

The trial for all eight individuals will commence on May 7, 2024, at the Norton Magistrates’ Court.

The State alleges that Chokurongerwa and his associates conducted funeral services for Hazel Chikunhire and Winlet Kabaya without obtaining proper burial orders for the deceased.

Furthermore, the sect leaders, who acted as guardians for the children residing at the church’s compound in Nyabira, are accused of neglecting, abandoning, and exposing the children to conditions likely to cause unnecessary suffering.

Video : Is Wicknell Chivayo Eclipsing Own Master Emmerson Mnangagwa?

FC Wangu Mazodze yesterday dismissed Manica Diamonds U19 at Showgrounds Stadium in Mutare to maintain their grip at the top of Eastern Region Division 1 League.

Zhalala Zhululu scored the only goal of the match on the 15th minute through a beautiful header from Ngoyi Gloire off a lofted pass from the impressive Tinaye Tsimba.

The match started on a high tempo with the home side backed by a good crowd at the stadium but Zhalala Zhululu Boys showed their mettle with a strong defensive display.

It remained a cagey affair in most parts of the game with both teams having their chances especially in the second half. In the 53 minute, Prosper Andrea who was impressive the whole afternoon saw his effort from outside the penalty box hitting side net. Two minutes later FC Wangu Mazodze were awarded a free kick in a promising position but Nicholas Muchadei blasted it against the Manica Diamonds wall.

In the 75 minute, Andrea would have scored a second for the visitors but his thunder bolt went through the outside of the post.

FC Wangu Mazodze coach, John Nyikadzino expressed satisfaction with his boys’ display on a difficult wet pitch as they managed to secure all the points.

“We are happy to collect all the three points away from home especially given that we were playing in a very difficult pitch. We shift our focus to the next game.”, he said.

Wicknell Publicly Anoints Self King To Ruto, Mnangagwa Despite Conviction for Serious Money Laundering

The Audacity of Illusion: Wicknell Chivayo’s Grandiose Proclamation and its Impact on Presidential Integrity

By Lesley Dube | In a moment captured between the flashes of cameras and the subtle nods of diplomacy, Wicknell Chivayo, a convicted money launderer, stood shoulder to shoulder with the Presidents of Zimbabwe and Kenya. His proclamation that “Royal blood flows through my vein” resonated with a boldness rarely witnessed in public figures of his legal notoriety. This statement, steeped in self-aggrandizement, was not only unprecedented among African business figures but also loaded with implications that ripple through the corridors of power.

Wicknell Chivayo with President William Ruto

Wicknell Chivayo, a figure whose past is marred by a stint in prison from 2005 to 2008 for money laundering, has since enjoyed what can only be described as an unusually permissive existence. Despite his criminal record, Chivayo has been allowed to handle millions of dollars under dubious circumstances, often operating with what appears to be complete immunity from the usual scruples of law enforcement.

The image of Chivayo flanked by two of Africa’s presidents, not as a reformed man but as a brash businessman boasting of royal lineage, sends shockwaves through the foundational integrity of the presidency. His statement could be dismissed as mere hyperbole, yet the setting and his history lend it a gravity that cannot be ignored. This moment highlights a concerning symbiosis between political powers and wealthy individuals with questionable backgrounds.

The dangers of such associations are multifaceted. Firstly, it poses a direct challenge to the integrity of the presidential office. By aligning themselves with individuals like Chivayo, presidents risk the perception that political office can be swayed or tainted by the influence of private wealth, especially wealth acquired through illicit means. This perception erodes public trust in political institutions, which is crucial for the stability and democratic health of any nation.

Secondly, Chivayo’s statement and his prominence in such high-profile settings could potentially normalize relationships between politicians and other wealthy individuals with similar shady pasts. This normalization risks creating an environment where money laundering and other forms of financial malfeasance are tacitly accepted or outright ignored, provided the perpetrators can claim some form of utility or connection to the state.

Moreover, Chivayo’s unabashed proclamation of “royal blood” suggests a self-view elevated above the common citizenry, hinting at a perceived entitlement to special treatment. This is particularly inflammatory in countries like Zimbabwe and Kenya, where many citizens grapple with economic hardship and corruption. It is a stark reminder of the inequality that exists between the elite and those they govern.

In conclusion, the incident involving Chivayo and his grandiose declaration in the presence of two African presidents is not merely a personal faux pas but a significant commentary on the state of political and ethical standards within the region. It underscores the need for a rigorous reassessment of the relationships between political leaders and business figures, especially those with criminal pasts. The integrity of political office must be upheld by maintaining a clear boundary between leadership and illicit wealth. Only then can trust in these institutions begin to be restored, ensuring that the governance is carried out in the best interest of all its citizens, not just those claiming royal lineage.

In the face of boastful proclamations like those of Wicknell Chivayo and the potential risks such associations carry for political and financial integrity, several areas of Kenyan law may warrant closer examination and possible reinforcement:

1. **Anti-Corruption Legislation**: Kenya’s anti-corruption laws, particularly those under the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), need thorough review to ensure they are equipped to tackle not only direct acts of corruption but also the subtler forms of influence that wealthy individuals with criminal backgrounds might exert. Strengthening these laws could include harsher penalties for public officials who engage in or facilitate corruption.

2. **Campaign Finance Laws**: Laws governing the financing of political campaigns should be scrutinized to prevent individuals with dubious wealth from influencing political outcomes. This includes setting clear limitations on contributions, requiring full transparency of contributions, and enforcing strict penalties for non-compliance.

3. **Money Laundering Regulations**: The Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act needs constant updating to keep pace with evolving methods of money laundering and financial crimes. Enhancements might involve stricter monitoring and reporting requirements for financial and non-financial businesses, as well as increased resources for enforcement agencies.

4. **Public Officer Ethics Act**: This act sets the standards for the behavior of public officers. It may need amendments to include more stringent requirements for transparency, regular declarations of assets by public officials, and explicit prohibitions against associating with known criminals.

5. **Financial Reporting**: The requirements for financial reporting by companies, especially those engaged in public contracts, should be tightened. Regular audits should be mandatory, and there should be clear consequences for entities that fail to comply with financial transparency standards.

6. **Whistleblower Protections**: Enhancing protections for whistleblowers could encourage more individuals to come forward with information about corrupt practices involving high-level individuals and politicians. This includes ensuring their anonymity, protection from retaliation, and possible rewards for valuable information.

By probing and potentially strengthening these areas of law, Kenya can better safeguard the integrity of its political and financial systems, ensuring that the influences that lead to boastful declarations such as Chivayo’s are kept in check. Such measures are crucial for maintaining public trust and ensuring that political offices are not unduly influenced by individuals with potentially nefarious sources of wealth.

ZIMBABWE:

1. **Anti-Corruption and Anti-Bribery Laws**: Zimbabwe’s fight against corruption can be fortified through the Anti-Corruption Commission, which needs robust backing to tackle corruption effectively. This includes enforcing laws that prevent government officials from engaging with known criminals or benefiting from illicit dealings.

2. **Public Officers Integrity Act**: This act, if not already in place, should be introduced or reinforced. It would mandate that public officials maintain a high standard of moral and ethical conduct, which includes avoiding any relationships that could impair their judgment or lead to conflicts of interest.

3. **Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act**: Strengthening this legislation would help prevent money laundering activities by enhancing the monitoring of financial transactions, especially those involving large amounts of money and public contracts. This would also involve stricter penalties for violations.

4. **Political Parties Finance Act**: This law should be enforced rigorously to regulate the funding of political parties and prevent political figures from being influenced by businessmen with dubious financial backgrounds. It requires full transparency in the financial dealings of political parties and their associations.

5. **Corporate Governance Codes**: Reinforcement of corporate governance standards is crucial. This involves ensuring that businesses, especially those engaged in public contracts, adhere to strict ethical guidelines and transparent financial reporting practices.

6. **Whistleblower Protection Laws**: Strengthening protections for whistleblowers in both the public and private sectors can encourage more individuals to come forward with information regarding unethical practices among high-ranking officials and influential businessmen.

7. **Electoral Laws**: Ensuring that electoral laws strictly prohibit candidates and parties from using funds obtained through illicit means can help maintain the integrity of electoral processes. This includes stringent vetting processes for candidates’ sources of campaign funds.

By invoking and possibly enhancing these laws, Zimbabwe can take significant steps toward maintaining the integrity of its governmental institutions and ensure that public officials are held to the highest standards of accountability and transparency. This is critical for building public trust and fostering a governance environment that resists corruption and undue influence.

Police Warned Against Futile Efforts To Arrest Money-Changers

By Mlondolozi Ndhlovu| Already the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested scores of illegal forex moneychangers, who were operating in Harare and Bulawayo as well as other parts of the country.

It has been weeks since Zimbabwe introduced a new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) and the notes have not been released as of yet. It is only available for online transactions.

This on its own has sparked panic among citizens.

Already the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested scores of illegal forex moneychangers, who were operating in Harare and Bulawayo as well as other parts of the country.

They were converting ZiG into US dollars at a higher rate than that proposed by the government.

They were arrested in terms of the Exchange Control Act, which prohibits illegal monetary dealings.

Under the country’s laws unlicensed foreign currency traders face up to 10 years in jail if convicted and they risk the loss of their money and assets.

The emergence of illegal forex traders as already witnessed with the RTGS dispensation leads to inflation as well as loss of value of the local currency.

It leads to Zimbabweans undermining the currency as well as loss of confidence in the local unit.

Before the ZiG was even introduced, citizens already had doubts about the currency.

The government itself did not take any steps to ensure that people will have confidence that the new currency will be stable and strong.

Upon its introduction, the illegal forex traders were already filling the streets leading to their arrests.

Some businesses had their bank accounts frozen for refusing to trade in ZiG.

These businesses were exclusively trading in US dollars.

The central bank’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) blocked their accounts for exchange control violations.

The root of these hurdles in the implementation of the new currency is lack of confidence in the currency and the failure of government to instil and build confidence in it.

There is trust deficit between the citizens and the government that has had tangible repercussions for policy making and implementation.

The introduction of the currency was devoid of public consultations.

Confidence in the new currency and trust in its management is central to its success.

The government ought to address the trust issues and restore public confidence in the currency and show its ability to manage the economy.

However, just as Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor John Mushayavanhu pointed out, confidence cannot be legislated and it has to be earned by the central bank.

This is indeed true as the government cannot rely solely on legislative measures to build public confidence.

Public confidence can be earned through consistent action and transparency.

If anything these legislative measures instil fear in the public as people will be wary of being arrested, but it will not give them faith and confidence in the new currency.

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube highlighted that the government wants the public to have confidence in the new system and that confidence can be built through communication.

Arresting illegal forex traders and freezing accounts of companies will not boost public confidence. It will instil panic.

The law cannot build confidence among citizens.

Confidence in a currency is instilled by making it strong enough to buy anything on the market, yet there are service providers that do not accept ZiG for example fuelstations.

Fuel prices are pegged strictly in US dollars.

All government services should be paid for in ZiG and all domestic payments should be in ZiG.

As long as the government continues to reject the ZiG for goods and services that it offers, the demand for US dollars will remain high, so will the number of illegal forex dealers on the streets.

The government can put in place confidence building measures that make the ZiG the main currency.

Duties are charged in foreign currency, but charging them in local currency will help boost the confidence instead of using state resources to chase around money changers.

This is not to say illegal money changers should be allowed to prowl the streets, but the government can do better in order to instil confidence in the currency.

Making the ZiG the prime and sole currency for all services will be like killing two birds with one stone.

It will build confidence as well as chase the money changers off the streets without having to harass them.

If the government does not put up measures or changes, which ensure that citizens or businesses will not require the services of money changers they will continue to fill the streets.

No amount or level of legislation will build or attract trust in the new currency.

No threats or force will instill confidence in the ZiG.

Just like trust, confidence cannot be demanded it has to be earned as already pointed out.

Earning it means putting in some work and efforts to ensure that there is complete confidence in the works of the government and management of the currency.

Government officials are paid in US dollars yet they expect ordinary citizens to be paid in local currency.

It is like the government itself does not have confidence in its works.

They want the public to accept the ZiG yet themselves are earning in foreign currency.

There has to be a demand for all government officials to be paid in ZiG.

This will enhance stability and build confidence in the new currency.

No citizen will have confidence in the ZiG if there is no shift in policy towards allowances for all elected government officials to be paid in local currency.

Zimbabwe has become over reliant on US dollars, which instead of taking the country forward has kept it in a retrogressive mode because it has neglected the needs or to serve the needs of the majority as it has mainly focused on the needs of the few political elites.

It is time the financial system in Zimbabwe is linked to an economic development plan and not the pockets of the bank owner.

Once the presidium of this land and the legislature change their attitudes towards the use of local currency it will ignite confidence, which will ensure stability.

As Mushayavanhu stated, the government has to walk the talk on protecting the new currency.

Everyone has an equal role to play in ensuring a stable building of confidence.

The rise and fall of the ZiG does not depend on money changers only and businesses, it depends on the attitude towards the currency starting from the executive, judiciary, and legislature down to the common man on the streets.

Legislation cannot build confidence in the currency. The government itself has to have confidence in the currency first in order to build confidence among citizens.

Former Buccaneers Coach For Warriors Job?

The ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) has approached Serbian gaffer Kostadin Papić to potentially take over as the next Warriors coach.

The country’s biggest coaching job has been vacant since Portuguese mentor Baltemar Britt’s short-term contract was not renewed at the end of last year.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza was appointed on an interim basis to specifically oversee the recently-held four-nations tournament in Malawi.

The NC therefore has to appoint a coach for the Warriors, in time for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers slated for June.

While the Lincoln Mutasa-led administration has remained tight-lipped on their plans as far as the appointment of the next Warriors coach is concerned, a well-placed source privy to ongoings at ZIFA, told Soccer24 that Papić has been approached.

“The Normalisation Committee approached Kostadin Papić’s handlers on April 15, before talking to the coach himself the following day,” said the source.

“I’m not so sure about the details of the discussion but it appears as though they (the NC) just told the coach they would get back to him,” added the source.

Papić (63), has been in charge of numerous clubs across the African continent, in a glittering career spanning over two decades.

The Serb managed South African Premiership sides; Orlando Pirates between 2004 and 2006, Maritzburg United (2006-2007), before a short spell at Kaizer Chiefs in 2007.

He then managed Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak between 2008 and 2009, before moving to Tanzania, where he was in the Young Africans dugout for between 2010 and 2012.

Papić then returned to South Africa in 2014, where he briefly took charge of Black Leopards and Chippa United, before moving to Polokwane City.

The veteran coach returned to Black Leopards in 2015 and was in charge of Lidoda Duvha for a year, before moving to South African second tier side Royal Eagles in 2017.

He then moved to Ethiopia the following year, where he took charge of Ethiopian Coffee before returning to South African for a second stint with Royal Eagles.

Papić’s last coaching job was with Black Leopards in 2021.

He is said to have previously applied for the Warriors job when it was first advertised by the NC.

Mnangagwa’s Diplomatic Gambit

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s diplomatic maneuvering took an intriguing turn as he introduced controversial businessman and Zanu PF affiliate Wicknell Chivayo to visiting Kenyan President William Ruto during bilateral talks at Bulawayo Statehouse.

The unexpected introduction of Chivayo to President Ruto adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing discussions between Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Chivayo, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and entanglement in legal controversies, has raised eyebrows both domestically and internationally.

His presence alongside President Mnangagwa in a diplomatic setting underscores the intricate interplay between politics, business, and influence in Zimbabwean society.

Chivayo’s purported affiliation with Zanu PF has fueled speculation about his rising stature within the political establishment. His ability to garner attention and proximity to key figures like Mnangagwa suggests a degree of influence that extends beyond the realm of business.

However, the extent of his power remains a subject of debate among observers.

The introduction of Chivayo to President Ruto raises questions about the message Mnangagwa seeks to convey. Is it a signal of support for Chivayo, or perhaps a strategic move to leverage his connections for diplomatic ends?

Alternatively, it could be interpreted as a display of confidence in Zimbabwe’s business community and a gesture of inclusivity towards local entrepreneurs.

While Chivayo’s prominence may be undeniable, his controversial reputation also casts a shadow over his public image.

Legal troubles and allegations of corruption have dogged him for years, drawing scrutiny from both domestic and international observers.

His association with Zanu PF adds another layer of complexity, raising concerns about the nexus between business and politics in Zimbabwe.

In the broader context of Zimbabwean politics, Chivayo’s rise to prominence reflects the evolving landscape of power and influence.

As traditional power structures undergo transformation, figures like Chivayo navigate a terrain shaped by shifting alliances and competing interests.

Whether his influence will endure or wane remains uncertain, but his presence on the political stage signals a departure from conventional norms.

As President Mnangagwa engages in diplomatic overtures with his Kenyan counterpart, the introduction of Chivayo adds an intriguing subplot to the proceedings. Whether it represents a calculated move or a mere coincidence, it underscores the intricate dynamics at play within Zimbabwean politics.

As the nation grapples with economic challenges and political uncertainty, the role of figures like Chivayo continues to provoke debate and speculation.

In the corridors of power at Bulawayo Statehouse, where deals are brokered and alliances forged, Chivayo’s presence serves as a reminder of the complexities and contradictions inherent in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

As the saga unfolds, Zimbabweans watch with keen interest, mindful of the implications for their nation’s future.

Chivayo In Bid To Capture Nation

Ruto Cries For Removal Of Sanctions

By A Correspondent

Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto has made a bold statement denouncing the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, signaling a gesture of solidarity and goodwill towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

Ruto’s stance, articulated during his visit to Zimbabwe for trade talks and the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2024, underscores the importance of fostering stronger diplomatic ties between the two nations.

In a clear display of support for Zimbabwe, Ruto asserted, “The sanctions on Zimbabwe are illegal and unnecessary.”

His unequivocal condemnation of the punitive measures imposed on the Southern African nation echoes sentiments shared by many within the region who view the sanctions as a hindrance to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development.

Ruto’s visit to Zimbabwe not only emphasizes the significance of bilateral trade relations but also serves as a platform for diplomatic engagement and collaboration.

His presence at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair reflects Kenya’s commitment to exploring opportunities for economic cooperation and investment in Zimbabwe’s burgeoning market.

During his visit, Ruto reiterated the importance of fostering stronger ties between Kenya and Zimbabwe, stating, “We are committed to deepening our cooperation with Zimbabwe in various sectors, including trade, investment, and infrastructure development.”

His words signal a desire to expand the scope of engagement between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced economic cooperation and mutual benefit.

Ruto’s denunciation of sanctions aligns with President Mnangagwa’s longstanding stance on the issue, further solidifying the rapport between the two leaders.

By speaking out against the sanctions, Ruto not only demonstrates solidarity with Zimbabwe but also reaffirms Kenya’s commitment to upholding the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

The timing of Ruto’s statement, coinciding with his visit to Zimbabwe, underscores the diplomatic significance of his remarks.

As the international community grapples with questions surrounding sanctions and their efficacy, Ruto’s stance adds another dimension to the discourse, highlighting the complexities of global politics and the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving contentious issues.

As Ruto engages in trade talks and diplomatic engagements in Zimbabwe, his denunciation of sanctions serves as a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Zimbabwe.

In a world marked by geopolitical tensions and economic challenges, gestures of solidarity and support take on added significance, laying the foundation for stronger partnerships and shared prosperity in the years to come.

Madzibaba veShanduko Assaulted By ZANU Thugs While Protecting Hon Cheza

Chamisa Supporter Madzibaba VeShanduko Assaulted While Defending Colleague

By Dorrothy Moyo | In an incident of political violence, Madzibaba VeShanduko, a fervent supporter of opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, was assaulted today while trying to protect a fellow supporter during a public gathering. The supporter, known by his religious moniker but whose real name is Godfrey Karembera, reported the incident from Mabvuku Police Station where he sought refuge and filed a complaint.

The altercation occurred when Mai Cheza, another prominent supporter of Chamisa, was reportedly slapped by unidentified assailants during a heated exchange. Karembera, in an attempt to shield Mai Cheza, found himself the target of a sudden and brutal attack. “When they slapped the honourable on her cheek and I had gone to protect her, that is when they all descended on me,” Karembera recounted the harrowing moments to the media.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described a chaotic situation with several individuals attacking Karembera, who is well-known in the community for his peaceful activism and distinctive red robe. The police have begun an investigation into the incident, and officers at Mabvuku station confirmed that several statements have been taken and a search for the assailants is underway.

The assault on Karembera highlights the increasing tension and violence seen in political gatherings in recent times. This event raises serious concerns about safety during political engagements and the apparent targeting of opposition figures and their supporters.

Human rights organizations and political analysts are calling for calm and a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. “Such acts of violence threaten the democratic process and must be addressed promptly to prevent further escalation,” said a local human rights advocate.

As the situation develops, the community and supporters of Chamisa are rallying on social media and in various forums, condemning the attack and calling for peace and respect for democratic rights. The police have assured the public that they are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice and have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Madzibaba VeShanduko is currently receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the assault. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum, emphasizing the need for tolerance and peace in the lead-up to more heated political engagements expected in the coming months.

Biden Exposes Mnangagwa’s Heinous Crimes

By Political Reporter- The Joe Biden administration has accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Government of lacking the political will to “identify, investigate, or prosecute officials who may have committed human rights abuses”.

In its Zimbabwe 2023 Human Rights Report, the United States Government said significant human rights cases which include credible reports of arbitrary or unlawful killings, extrajudicial killings, cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government and harsh and life-threatening prison conditions, have not been addressed. Reads the report:

The government did not take credible steps to identify, investigate, or prosecute officials who may have committed human rights abuses.

There were credible reports of human rights abuses by criminal gangs in the artisanal and small-scale mining sector. Authorities did not systematically investigate or prosecute such abuses.

There were several reports that the government or its agents committed arbitrary or unlawful killings, including extrajudicial killings, during the year.

On September 15, Persuade Mandara was reportedly killed in Mashonaland Central province by [the] Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

According to the Human Rights NGO Forum, officers investigating his connection with a grain theft case broke into Mandara’s home, assaulted him with burning logs that were being used for cooking, and fired gunshots.

The United States also alleged that throughout 2023, security forces used excessive force to apprehend, detain and interrogate criminal suspects. It said:

Police and military officers used excessive force and violent means to disperse peaceful demonstrations and to disrupt informal trading. Security forces often acted in the interest of the ruling party.

On January 14, members of the ZRP assaulted Kudzai Kadzere, a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), in Budiriro while he was responding to a call for legal assistance by a group of opposition supporters.

ZLHR stated police officers used truncheons and fists to assault Kadzere, leading to injuries including a fractured hand.

The report also said prison conditions in Zimbabwe were harsh and life-threatening due to overcrowding, food shortages, and lack of water.

It stated that Zimbabwe’s jails are infested with lice, there is a shortage of blankets in the cold season, and prisoners lack of access to personal hygiene products, as well as inadequate sanitary conditions and medical care. Reads the report:

The Constitution and law prohibited arbitrary arrest and detention, although other sections of the law effectively weakened these prohibitions. The government’s enforcement of security laws often conflicted with the constitution.

Security forces arbitrarily arrested and detained persons, particularly political and civil society activists, labour leaders, street vendors and journalists perceived as opposing the government.

The government regularly used arbitrary arrest and detention as tools of intimidation and harassment, especially against opposition party members, political activists, civil society members, journalists, attorneys and ordinary citizens asserting their rights.

The United States also alleged that the Zimbabwean Government has continued to violate the property rights of citizens. It said:

The Constitution protected property rights, but the government frequently violated this right. On January 7, media reported two ruling party Zimbabwe African National Union-Popular Front (Zanu-PF) activists seized a sugar plantation belonging to a white commercial farmer in Mwenezi, Masvingo province, leaving the owners and scores of workers and their children homeless.

Speaking to NewsDay, ZANU PF information director Farai Marapira demanded the US to provide evidence substantiating its allegations. He said:

Accusations and observations unsubstantiated by verified facts serve to expose the speaker not the spoken of. The US must lose agendarism [sic] and vindictive engagement with governments that refuse to cower before it.

We are undeterred in our mission to serve our people and the President’s doors remain open to genuine impartial overtures for engagement. In the absence of that, as ZANU PF we march unfazed, unbothered and more resolutely.

In March this year, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated 11 Zimbabwean individuals including President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who became the first sitting head of State to be designated by the US under its Global Magnitsky Programme early this year. They were designated for their alleged involvement in corruption and serious human rights abuse.

Masvingo Bus Accident: 16 Killed

By Farai D Hove | Police report the aftermath of a road accident on the 26th of April along the Harare-Masvingo Road that has now claimed 16 lives.

“We are dealing with a terrible tragedy,” stated Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

“Our officers responded to a collision at the 52-kilometer peg on the Harare-Masvingo Road that involved multiple vehicles, including a haulage truck and a passenger bus carrying church members,” he continued.

The fatal accident involved a haulage truck striking a VW Polo from behind and then colliding head-on with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus, which was transporting 44 members of the Angels Family Apostolic Church to the Makumumavi Shrine. “It’s a devastating blow to the community,” Nyathi expressed.

A poignant detail in the wake of the disaster is the identification of victims, with the police releasing the names of eleven of the sixteen deceased. The list includes young children and adults alike, such as Kelly Kwenda, a three-year-old girl, and Decision Maizivei, a 26-year-old man, painting a stark picture of the loss.

“In the wake of this incident, our message to the public is clear: abide by the road rules and regulations. Your safety and the safety of others depend on it,” Nyathi urged, highlighting the importance of road safety.

Investigations are ongoing, and the Zimbabwe Republic Police has vowed to provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, the Assistant Commissioner has extended condolences to the families and implored motorists to exercise caution and respect for traffic laws to prevent future tragedies.

Zim Man Trades UK Job For Goats

By Staff Reporter- A Zimbabwean man has left his job in the United Kingdom, returned home, and started goat farming.

The state media reports that Peter Mukombe, now a goat farmer, is exhibiting his Boer goats at the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

The report said he abandoned his nursing job in the United Kingdom to return home and venture into goat farming.

Mukombe (45), said he spent more than ten years in the United Kingdom working as a Psychiatric nurse.

He said his love for livestock drove him to abandon his job 13 years ago to venture into goat farming in Umguza District where he is now an owner of 106 Boer goats.

Mukombe said he left for the United Kingdom as a 19-year-old and stayed there for 15 years. He said:

I went to the United Kingdom when I was still a teenager but I have so much love for animals that 13 years ago I decided to come back home where I ventured into goat farming, starting with the easy-to-look-after Matabele goat.

Mukombe said when his herd slightly grew, he sold the goats to raise capital and ventured into Boer goat farming which he is now breeding. He said:

Goats like any animal need care and they too will take care of you. I have no regrets whatsoever for coming back home and getting into this business, which has a ready market.

In fact, we are failing to meet the demands of the market and that shows you that there is a huge potential for further growth.

Mukombe said his goats are sold at a minimum of US$300 each.

Goat farming has become increasingly popular for commercial purposes in Zimbabwe due to a rise in the demand for goat meat as consumers seek alternatives to chicken, beef, and pork.

Boer goats are known for their fast growth rate and high-quality meat, and they are easy to keep and have relatively low feed costs.

World Environment Day : Time To Fight For Healthier Planet

Statement by Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates on World Environment Day…

As World Environment Day approaches on June 5, Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty Ltd is gearing up for a significant initiative in Komatipoort, South Africa, to mark this global occasion.

This year, we are focusing our efforts on the vital task of tree planting to restore and preserve our natural environment.

Our primary goal is to plant trees in Komatipoort, South Africa and inspire surrounding communities to join us in this important endeavor.

Trees play a crucial role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, providing oxygen, and enhancing biodiversity.

By encouraging tree planting, we aim to foster a healthier and more sustainable environment for all.

In addition to our tree planting initiative, we are also addressing another pressing environmental issue: illegal waste dumping.

The unfortunate consequences of such actions include floods caused by clogged bridges and stormwater systems.

To combat this problem, we advocate for the transformation of illegal dump sites into green spaces by planting trees and restoring the natural ecosystem.

To achieve these ambitious goals, we are seeking partners and sponsors to invest in this initiative.

Interested parties can reach out to us to discuss how they can contribute resources—whether through financial support, tree donations, or other means—to make World Environment Day a resounding success.

At Tshikovha Green and Climate Change Advocates Pty Ltd, we understand the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.

World Environment Day presents an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together in support of a healthier planet.

By working hand in hand with local communities and stakeholders, we can make a tangible impact and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future.

Let us use this World Environment Day as a catalyst for change.

Together, we can turn the tide against climate change, restore our natural landscapes, and build resilient communities.

President Ruto’s Zim Visit Marred by Photo with Convicted Money Launderer, Wicknell Chivayo

By Luke S Banda | Legal Correspondent | ZimEye | In a controversial turn of events during Kenyan President William Ruto’s recent visit to Zimbabwe, a photograph capturing him alongside Zimbabwe’s notorious money launderer, Wicknell Chivayo, has sparked widespread criticism and raised questions about the implications of such associations for political and business relations in the region.

President Ruto’s visit, intended to strengthen diplomatic and trade ties, was overshadowed by the presence of Chivayo, who has a well-documented history of legal troubles, including a conviction and a three-year sentence in Chikurubi Maximum Prison for money laundering activities.

Wicknell Chivayo with President Ruto and Emmerson Mnangagwa

His involvement in high-profile luxury car purchases is currently under scrutiny in ongoing money laundering audits. Moreover, the government of Lesotho has expelled him for falsely claiming that his wealth originates from supplying oil to the country—a claim he asserted involved supplying three million liters of oil per week.

The incident occurred under the watch of Zimbabwean security details during a photo opportunity arranged by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s team. This inclusion of Chivayo, a non-state actor, in such high-level diplomatic settings not only compromises the perceived integrity of the visiting states but also reflects poorly on Mnangagwa’s administration, according to business commentator Brighton Musonza.

Musonza criticized Mnangagwa’s decision to allow Chivayo’s presence as “breathtakingly shocking” and indicative of a leadership style that personalizes presidential functions to the extent of merging state affairs with personal and familial interests. He noted, “Mnangagwa has brought the office of the President and the State into disrepute. His arrogance of him imposing @wicknellchivayo, a none state figure into the state is breathtakingly shocking.”

The event lacked the presence of Zimbabwean cabinet ministers, featuring only Mnangagwa, Chivayo, his sons, and numerous security details, further emphasizing the personal over the official. Such arrangements have reportedly deterred other African leaders from visiting Zimbabwe, as noted by Musonza, who mentioned that Ruto himself was hesitant and arrived in the country later than scheduled.

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa commented on the issue, stating that Mnangagwa has unduly personalized the presidency, treating state events as private family gatherings. This approach not only undermines the formal stature of state occasions but also potentially exploits these platforms for personal gain.

The controversy extends to Chivayo’s professional claims, which remain unsupported by any significant business operations or corporate endorsements. His presence at state functions is seen not just as a personal favor but as a strategic maneuver by Mnangagwa to enhance his transactional leadership style, where luxury and loyalty intertwine in the shadows of multimillion-dollar regional business dealings.

This incident raises significant concerns about the implications for international trust and cooperation, with potential ramifications for both domestic and foreign policy fronts. As the details of this association continue to unfold, the focus remains on how both Zimbabwean and Kenyan leadership will navigate the fallout of this diplomatic misstep.

The controversy involving President William Ruto’s photograph with the notorious figure during his visit to Zimbabwe could potentially have implications under various Kenyan and international laws. Here are some of the laws and legal principles that may come into play:

### Kenyan Laws
1. Leadership and Integrity Act (2012) – This Act stipulates the conduct expected of public officials in Kenya, emphasizing integrity, honesty, and responsibility. Any perceived associations with criminal elements can be seen as contrary to the values upheld by this Act.

2. Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act (2003)** – Under this law, public officials are expected to avoid any conduct that would be detrimental to the economic interests of Kenya or that would align them with economic crimes, including money laundering.

3. Public Officer Ethics Act (2003) – This Act sets out the ethical standards for public officers, requiring them to maintain behavior that avoids any conflict of interest and preserves public confidence in public institutions.

4. Foreign Relations and Diplomatic Immunities – Although not a single codified law, various statutes govern the conduct of Kenyan officials abroad and the country’s diplomatic relations, focusing on upholding the nation’s image and interests on the international stage.

### International Laws and Agreements
1. United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) – Kenya, as a signatory, is bound by the provisions of UNCAC, which includes measures against corruption, including bribery and money laundering. These provisions extend to actions and behaviors of state leaders that could compromise the country’s commitment to fighting corruption.

2. African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption – This regional agreement obligates member states, including Kenya, to adopt effective measures to combat corruption and promote integrity among their leaders.

3. International Standards on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism & Proliferation (The Financial Action Task Force – FATF Recommendations)** – As a member of the global financial system, Kenya is influenced by FATF recommendations designed to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, which includes monitoring politically exposed persons (PEPs).

### Potential Implications
The implications of the controversy could range from diplomatic tensions between Kenya and other nations to internal political repercussions for President Ruto, especially concerning public perception and trust. Legal proceedings or investigations might be initiated if there is perceived breach of any of the above statutes, affecting both the presidency and the broader political landscape in Kenya.

It’s also important to note that any legal repercussions would depend heavily on the specifics of the incident, any direct involvement, and the outcomes of any subsequent investigations. The integrity and transparency with which the situation is handled by Kenyan authorities would also play a crucial role in shaping the legal and political outcomes.

Is Wicknell Chivayo Stealing Limelight From Emmerson Mnangagwa?

Concerns Regarding the President’s Association of Wicknell Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Govt

His Excellency President Cde ED Mnangangwa
President of Zimbabwe

Subject: Concerns Regarding the Association of Wicknell Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Government

Your Excellency,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the reported association of Wicknell Chivhayo, a convicted criminal, with the Zimbabwean Government, particularly his participation in official engagements such as the meeting with President Ruto of Kenya. This association has raised significant alarm among the citizens of Zimbabwe, as it seems to contradict the principles of transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption that your administration has championed.
I understand that Mr. Chivhayo has recently sought to have his criminal record from 2005 reversed through legal means, as reported in The Herald (source: Link to News:Wicknell_Chivayo_Seeks_to_Have_Criminal_Record_Reversed). While it is within his rights to pursue legal remedies, it is crucial to consider the potential implications of associating with individuals who have been convicted of serious criminal offences.
As a concerned citizen, I would like to highlight the importance of consistency in the application of principles and standards when it comes to the association of public figures with individuals who have a criminal background. Your Excellency, I recall your firm stance in removing former President Robert Mugabe, citing that he was “surrounded by criminals.” This decision was seen as a crucial step in addressing corruption and restoring public confidence and trust in the government.
Given this context, the recent association of Mr. Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Government, particularly in an official capacity, raises questions about the commitment to upholding the principles that led to the removal of former President Mugabe. It is essential to avoid sending mixed messages to the public and ensure that the government’s actions align with its stated objectives.
Parading Mr. Chivhayo as a de facto official of the Zimbabwean Government during the meeting with President Ruto of Kenya has not only raised eyebrows but also damaged the reputation of our nation. It is vital to consider the potential negative consequences of such associations, both domestically and internationally. The perception of Zimbabwe as a country that tolerates or even promotes individuals with criminal backgrounds can harm our international standing and hinder efforts to attract foreign investment and foster positive diplomatic relations.
Your Excellency, I humbly urge you to consider the concerns of the citizens and reevaluate the association of Mr. Chivhayo with the Zimbabwean Government. Upholding the highest ethical standards and maintaining a strong stance against corruption are essential for the progress and development of our nation. By taking decisive action to distance the government from individuals with criminal records, you will demonstrate your unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Your actions will not only shape the perception of our government but also impact the future trajectory of Zimbabwe. Let us strive together to build a nation that upholds the rule of law, fights corruption, and fosters a prosperous future for all Zimbabweans.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi

Mnangagwa’s Diplomatic Gambit: Introducing Wicknell Chivayo to Kenyan President Ruto

Mnangagwa Rejects ZiG

Zimbabwe’s Government Refuses Its Own Currency: The Rise and Fall of the “ZiG”

By Farai D Hove | In an unprecedented move in modern economics, the government of Zimbabwe has officially rejected its own currency, the ZiG, as a valid form of tender for state services. This controversial decision has not only thrown the country’s monetary system into disarray but has also sparked significant political and social repercussions. The move, announced in early April 2024, has left both citizens and international observers bewildered, with many questioning the viability of a currency that the issuing government itself will not accept.

The ZiG was introduced with great fanfare by President Mr. Strong ZiG (a pseudonym adopted by the President himself in honor of the new currency) as a revolutionary step toward stabilizing Zimbabwe’s tumultuous economic landscape. However, despite the optimism, the rollout of ZiG was met with skepticism from the onset. Economic analysts were cautious, citing Zimbabwe’s long history of financial instability and hyperinflation, most notoriously in 2008 when inflation rates hit an astronomical figure, rendering the Zimbabwean dollar virtually worthless.

April 2024 marked a historical anomaly when the government declared that the ZiG would not be accepted for crucial state services, including passport issuance and tax payments. This decision effectively undermines the currency’s legitimacy and utility, as citizens are now forced to transact in foreign currencies for essential services, relegating the ZiG to a secondary role in the economy.

The immediate economic implication of this decision is a severe lack of faith in the ZiG, leading to its rapid devaluation. This devaluation sparks a vicious cycle of inflation, as the cost of imported goods rises sharply when priced in ZiGs. Additionally, the refusal to accept the ZiG in payment for state services suggests a move towards dollarization, albeit unofficially, which might stabilize prices but at the cost of national economic sovereignty.

Socially, the rejection of the ZiG has widened the gap between the wealthy, who have access to foreign currencies, and the poor, who are left holding a devaluing currency with diminishing purchasing power. Politically, the situation has led to unrest, with citizens expressing their dissatisfaction through protests and calls for economic reform. The credibility of President Mr. Strong ZiG has also been severely undermined, as the moniker that was meant to symbolize strength and stability has become a byword for economic mismanagement.

Internationally, the situation has led to a hesitancy among foreign investors and aid organizations to engage with Zimbabwe’s economy. The instability introduced by such a fundamental lack of confidence in the national currency could deter investment and development aid, further isolating Zimbabwe economically.

The refusal of the Zimbabwean government to accept its own currency for state services is a paradox that challenges conventional economic theory and practice. It raises profound questions about the future of the ZiG and Zimbabwe’s economic recovery. Moving forward, the government faces the daunting task of restoring confidence in its currency and its economic policies. This will require not only addressing the immediate liquidity crisis but also implementing long-term reforms aimed at economic stability and growth. The saga of the ZiG continues to unfold, with the eyes of the world watching closely as Zimbabwe navigates this unprecedented economic challenge.

Ruto Denounces Non Existent Sanctions To Please Mnangagwa

RBZ Releases Useless ZiG Coins

By Business Reporter- Despite mounting pressure to abandon the recently introduced worthless currency, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) is forging ahead with the release of Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) coins, sparking widespread criticism and concern among citizens.

Scheduled to debut next Tuesday, these coins mark a controversial move by the RBZ, disregarding pleas to halt the production of what many consider a futile endeavour.

Finance Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube, speaking to state media, defended the decision, stating that the launch of the worthless coins is proceeding as planned.

The useless ZiG currency was first introduced by Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr. John Mushayavanhu during his presentation of the Monetary Policy Statement on April 5, igniting a storm of controversy.

Outlined in Statutory Instrument 75 of 2024, titled the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (Issue of ZiG Coins) Notice, 2024, the features of these coins have done little to assuage public skepticism.

According to the notice, the ZiG coins will be issued in denominations of one, two, and five ZiG. The design features include the Zimbabwe Bird on the obverse side, with the reverse side depicting symbols such as the Flame Lily, Great Zimbabwe Monument, and Victoria Falls, depending on the denomination.

Critics have lambasted the move, labelling it as a futile attempt to revive a collapsing economy.

The announcement of the composition of the coins, with the one ZiG consisting mainly of steel and nickel, further fueled skepticism about their value and utility.

As Zimbabwe grapples with economic instability and hyperinflation, the decision to prioritize the production of these seemingly worthless coins has drawn sharp rebuke from citizens and economists alike.

With the release of the ZiG coins imminent, the RBZ faces mounting pressure to address the concerns regarding the viability and purpose of introducing a currency that many perceive as destined for failure.

As the nation braces for the arrival of these controversial coins, the future of Zimbabwe’s monetary landscape remains uncertain amidst growing discontent and skepticism.

Madzibaba Ishmael Freed

By Staff Reporter- The High Court has granted bail to the controversial religious cult leader, Ishmael Chokurongerwa, popularly known as Madzibaba Ishmael, after spending almost two months in remand prison.

UK: Qoki Zindlovukazi Program Declared Fraudulent, Faces Multiple Refund Demands

By Investigative Reporter | ZimEye | The Qoki Zindlovukazi program, run by UK based nurse, Sithule Tshuma and her colleagues, including HSBC banker Karen Kumalo, Portia Kumalo, and Nompilo Moyo, has been exposed as a fraudulent scheme. The program which is the brainchild of politician, Professor Welshman Ncube’s official publicist Jimmy Chasafara, has been found to have sold fake title deeds to unsuspecting victims, predominantly women, since 2017, amassing a staggering USD25 million in the process.

Sithule Tshuma was also selling farm lands which can neither be subdivided nor be sold at any time.

Sithule Tshuma

Every component of Qoki’s variants is fraudulent, a detailed a comprehensive investigation pack done by solicitors in both Bulawayo and Harare displays.

The paper is now the basis upon which international institutions have begun issuing refunds to victims as a stop gap measure. Recent developments have seen UK auditors red-flagging the program as a scam, further cementing its fraudulent nature.

Amid mounting pressure, over 26 aggrieved complainants have so far successfully secured refunds, with the majority of these reversals occurring between 2023 and 2024.

The most recent refund case, witnessed outside Manchester County Court on April 25, 2024, shed light on the ordeal faced by victims. The victim, identified only as Pindai, expressed gratitude for finally receiving restitution after three long years of waiting. Hers is among the four quick reversals done in the last sixty days.

Bank documents seen by ZimEye reflect the reversals under the clause: fraud.

“Three years, three years. Thank you very much. Thank you,” said Pindai when asked about the duration of the wait.

Pindai is one of the women who invested an average of over forty five thousand (45,000) US dollars per person.

When questioned about the amount and message to other affected women, Pindai urged perseverance and solidarity, citing the importance of following instructions from trusted sources like Simba and Bhudhi Ezra.

These revelations emerged as 18 victims landed in Manchester on 25 April to converge over their refunds and more ideas were exchanged on how to assist others obtain their refunds.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to delve deeper into the intricate web of deceit orchestrated by the Qoki Zindlovukazi program, bringing justice to those who have fallen victim to this elaborate scam.

The people behind the scam are principally Sithule Tshuma who is the company owner, and the syndicate’s front that involves Professor Welshman Ncube’s publicist Jimmy Chasafara who is the professor’s party calls the Baba Jukwa of Matebeleland. When contacted by ZimEye, Chasafara announced in broad terms saying “Qoki is my baby,” and said the scheme’s investment promises will not amount to anything such that even his own family will never put a cent into it. In interviews, NHS support worker who is on a £3,000 salary, boasts of amassing multiple properties in UK and Zimbabwe in the period.

Professor Welshman Ncube has not denied his involvement in the scam, saying although his firm has officially operated as the lawyer for the both complainant and defendant, he has not received any money from the scam (see tweet).

The third person behind the scam is HSBC banker, Karen Kumalo who is on video narrating that the scam is her personal project. She has been contacted and declined to comment over revelations that the program is fraudulent from inception.

Kumalo’s sister, Portia is also a syndicate member, while the other one is Bridget Dube.

National Youth Service Condemned

Former Zimbabwe National Students Union leader Tapiwanashe Chiriga said Zimbabwe was facing drought and the focus should be towards the national disaster.

“The reintroduction of the youth service is case of wrong priorities at the wrong time for the wrong reasons. The nation could use the resources meant for this programme in more productive and life-saving ways,” said Chiriga.

“Zimbabwe is facing a devastating drought that has since been declared a national disaster. The focus of the nation right now should be towards ensuring food security for the 2,7 million people facing acute food shortages.

“The money the government intends to use for this vehicle of violence could be used to better our education systems, particularly financing the BEAM programme which could improve access to education.”

Chiriga said youths in Zimbabwe need jobs, equal opportunities to succeed and basic social services.

“The youth service is not a solution to the problems any young person is facing. There’s no benefit to be gained by our country from the reintroduction of the National Youth Service. It is waste of resources with a huge potential to replicate its violent past,” he said.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure accused the Zanu PF government of prioritising its power retention agenda as a national project, saying the youth service has no benefit to the youths.

“Zanu PF strangely confuses the party’s power retention agenda as a national project,” he said. “Zanufication of ecology of thought of young people should not be confused for youth service.

“The youth should be absorbed into the productive sectors of the economy not to spend valuable time assimilating fiction of Zanu PF’s supposed heroics. The nation is in a crisis because our young people are idle. The State should be seized with planning ways of absorbing all young people into the economy.”

The government is, however, arguing that youth service would equip youth through various skills training to create employment for themselves and others.

It says the training would emphasise on alleviating poverty by funding youth empowerment projects.

Turkey Based Zim Woman Patience Mangezi In Fraud Storm

A Turkish-based Zimbabwean woman is in the eye of a storm amid allegations of conning at least 20 victims and getting away with thousands of United States dollars in botched business deals.

Unmasking the face behind a string of unfulfilled business transactions, Patience Mangezi is caught in a web littered with accusations of fraud and scamming.

Her story runs deep, from vile insults to threats of witchcraft on her victims.

For fear of victimisation, one of the victims opened up on her experience, describing it as a deal with the devil.

“Up to now, I don’t sleep properly after she threatened me with death. I don’t know whether I will be able to recover my hard-earned cash from her.”

Her voice lowers as she struggles to contain her emotions. The pain of losing over a thousand United States dollars is too much to bear.

“This is all I had, my child could not even go to school after I lost that money,”

Yet Patience is cold to this emotional pain, rather opting to threaten her victims.

“You can go and report wherever you want, you are not getting that money. I come from a family whose lineage is anchored on three notorious traditional healers. You cannot do anything to me.”

A trail of complaints defines her Facebook page.

Only the bold will dare to confront her directly, but the reprimand is harsh.

“You are fools. Let’s see if you will get the money,” she said.

At least 20 women have suffered the same predicament, all with a similar result.

“She is cold-hearted, I have never seen a woman like her. It has been over a year and instead of her making good on her promises she torments you. I have lost over US$2 000 to this woman,”

A precept from a famous quote reads:

“Unfair and deceptive business practices have been illegal in most states for decades. Yet traffickers routinely use what appear to be legitimate businesses as fronts for their illegal exploitation. It’s the ultimate business scam.”

A case has since been opened at Harare Central Police Station against Patience Mangezi under IRB number 060063.

Kerina Mujati Exposes Manipulative Political Tactics in New Article.

Kerina Mujati

In an explosive article, political analyst, Kerina Mujati delves into the controversial strategy dubbed “Make Him Appear Like A Doofus” (MHALAD), suggesting its repeated use in Zimbabwean politics. Mujati discusses the notable incidents involving former President Robert Mugabe, where he was allegedly given the wrong speech by his aide George Charamba.

The first event saw Mugabe identify the error, while the second, occurring in Parliament, had Mugabe unknowingly read an outdated speech, portraying him in an unflattering light.

Mujati argues that this tactic was not only used against Mugabe but also his wife, Grace Mugabe, and now seems to be employed against Soko Chiwenga, describing a recent incident that cast Chiwenga in a similarly incompetent role. She links these events to a broader political manipulation orchestrated by Emmerson Mnangagwa, suggesting that these orchestrated mishaps serve to undermine political figures publicly.

The article sheds light on the dark corners of political maneuvering, where power plays overshadow truth and integrity. Mujati’s incisive commentary calls for a closer look at the narratives crafted by those in power and their impact on the political landscape of Zimbabwe.

By Kerina Mujati | Soko Chiwenga is now falling victim to the strategy of Make Him Appear Like A Doofus (MHALAD). I recall George Charamba giving Mugabe the wrong speech on two separate occasions. The first time it happened, Mugabe caught the “mistake.” I saw a video clip in which Mugabe was really upset and Charamba was groveling in apology. Mugabe had vetted the correct speech. Charamba went on to surreptitiously switch the speeches. What was he doing with a paper copy of an old speech?

The second time, it was in parliament. Mugabe read the entire speech, wrong as it was. It was a speech he had given before. This made Mugabe look like a demented old man who no longer had the mental capacity to be president. It did not help that the madaranganwa-toothed Chinotimba went on to praise the speech. All this added to the portrayal of Mugabe as a doofus.

It became apparent that this was a Make-Him-Appear-Like-A-Doofus (MHALAD) strategy. Grace Mugabe fell prey to the same strategy. She was made to look like a deranged drunkard.

With this utterly foolish speech, Chiwenga is now being made to appear like a doofus, confirming what Macmillan, Cross, and Lacoste Youths have said about him.

In all three cases, the beneficiary had and has a name and a very unpretty face. It is Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. As for Charamba, he is a slithering snake, a chiva chemunhu.??

Three Zimbos Jailed For 10 000 Years In SA

By Crime and Court Reporter- Three Zimbabweans have been jailed for 10 939 years for fraud by the South Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, South Africa.

The three Zimbabweans and six others were convicted on 391 counts of money laundering, fraud and forgery.

The other offences are assisting another person to benefit from unlawful activities, acquisition, possession or use of proceeds of unlawful activities, contravening the Birth and Death Registration Act, contravening the Identification Act, the Attorneys Act, and the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

The Zimbabweans are Mavudzi Maxwell Ndlovu (59), Edward Shoniwa (56) and Jeremiah Nyasha Musiwacho Dube (59).

In a statement, the South African Police Service said the National Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya welcomed the sentencing of nine of the thirteen accused persons.

“Two of the accused, Bonisiwe Prizzer Ndlovu (52) and Thabile Octavia Nkosi (51), both South African females, met their untimely deaths during the course of the trial whilst two others, Mfanafuthi Daniel Khanyile (47) and Adam Michael Phiri (42), both South African males, turned State witnesses.

“It is reported that from 2009 and 2016, the accused were members of various entities registered in terms of the Close Corporations Act and/or the Companies Act. They also registered their companies for Value Added Tax (VAT) in terms of the South African Revenue Services Act,” reads the statement.

“A total of 23 cases were opened at the Johannesburg Central police station against the accused. These cases were referred to the Gauteng-based Serious Corruption Investigation for in-depth probe.

“The accused, while acting in furtherance of a common purpose, submitted fraudulent VAT returns for and on behalf of the said companies claiming undue VAT refund from the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

“In support of their claims, the accused forged and uttered invoices to SARS. The undue VAT refund was then paid by SARS into various bank accounts of the said various entities, and were then transferred into various other accounts which were under the control of the accused,” reads the statement.

SAPS said the entities in question were not trading or conducting any business during the period they claimed the refunds and therefore did not incur any input expenses to warrant reimbursement.

SARS was prejudiced of R300 million.

Macheso, Jah Prayzah Trouble Alert Over Wicknell Chivayo Cars | Features

File copy

FILM FEATURE BASED ON TRUE STORY

By Fred Jukwa | Showbiz | Opinion | UPCOMING | In the dark, pre-dawn hours, a quiet buzz of activity stirs in the usually tranquil streets of Harare, Zimbabwe. Under the blanket of night, an unusual fleet of vehicles rolls in, each one marked with the bold, unmistakable letters: FBI. The arrival of these foreign agents on Zimbabwean soil is unprecedented, their mission cloaked in secrecy and urgency.

Their targets: none other than two of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated musicians, Alick Macheso and Jah Prayzah. Both artists, beloved by many, have recently been gifted top-of-the-line luxury cars, their sleek designs a stark contrast to the modest surroundings where many of their fans lived. These gifts, however, were not simple gestures of goodwill. They were purchased with money laundered by Wicknell Chivayo, a notorious fraudster with a rap sheet that included multiple convictions for financial crimes.

As the FBI agents approach the homes of Macheso and Jah Prayzah, local Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers accompany them, their faces set in grim lines. They’ve been briefed and given explicit orders: the cars are to be impounded and the musicians detained, pending further investigation. The streets, usually silent at this hour, echo with the sound of doors being knocked and orders being shouted.

At Macheso’s residence, lights flicker on as agents surround the property. Macheso, caught in the midst of sleep, is visibly bewildered as he’s read his rights and led outside. His prized vehicle, a symbol of his success, is loaded onto a tow truck, its departure watched by neighbors who whisper in shock and confusion.

Jah Prayzah’s home sees a similar scene unfold. As he’s escorted out in handcuffs, the betrayal in his eyes is palpable. He’d accepted the car without question, a gift he thought was from a benefactor impressed by his music, not laundered money. Cameras flash as media, tipped off about the raid, capture every moment of his humiliation.

The fallout is swift and severe. Both artists are taken to the police station, their protests of ignorance doing little to sway the officers. The news spreads like wildfire, fans and critics alike stunned by the developments. The implications are grave, not just legally but personally. The U.S. Embassy, acting on information from the FBI, tags and endorses their passports, effectively blacklisting them from entering America and any NATO country. Their dreams of international tours evaporate into the night air, replaced by the stark reality of their situation.

The community reacts with a mix of anger and disappointment. Some fans rally, arguing the artists were unaware of the tainted nature of the gifts, while others feel betrayed, their admiration tarnished by the association with criminal activities. The debate spills over into social media, where hashtags both in support of and against the musicians trend for days.

As the sun rises over Zimbabwe, the events of the night set the stage for a prolonged legal battle and a struggle for redemption. Macheso and Jah Prayzah face not just the loss of their vehicles but the daunting task of clearing their names and salvaging their reputations in a country where they were once revered. Meanwhile, the streets of Harare slowly return to normal, the night’s drama lingering like a bad dream, a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change.

Accepting high-value gifts such as luxury cars from individuals involved in suspicious financial activities, such as money laundering, can expose recipients to significant legal risks. When a gift is purchased with funds derived from criminal activity, it can be considered an extension of the criminal enterprise itself. Recipients may find themselves implicated in broader investigations, facing charges of conspiracy, accessory to the laundering process, or benefiting from the proceeds of crime. Additionally, possession of property known to be associated with crime can lead to legal actions such as asset seizure or forfeiture. Such associations can tarnish personal and professional reputations, leading to long-term legal and social consequences. Thus, accepting gifts without verifying their origins and the legality of the funds used can be a perilous oversight with serious legal repercussions.

In a recent development this month, Lesotho’s Minister of Energy, Prof. Nqosa Leuta Mahao, categorically denied the assertions made by Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo regarding his alleged fuel supply to the Lesotho government. Through COZWVA’s liaison, Borane Manyeli, Prof. Mahao stated, “we don’t have any contract supplying fuel from Sir Wicknell or any company associated with him.”

This statement comes in the wake of Chivayo’s robust defense against accusations of illegal dealings, where he claimed, “I have 50 trucks and I supply 3 million liters of fuel to Lesotho every week…” He discredited the accusations as misguided and stemming from poverty-driven jealousy, “Very stupid. It’s not my fault that you’re poor…”

The Lesotho government’s rebuttal adds a dramatic twist to Chivayo’s narrative, highlighting a stark contradiction between his claims and the official stance of the country he purportedly supplies. This revelation not only questions the veracity of Chivayo’s business operations but also casts a shadow over his recent pronouncements.

The fallout from this development is expected to intensify scrutiny of Chivayo’s business engagements, especially considering his entanglement in legal challenges within Zimbabwe. The business mogul faces charges after the Supreme Court reversed a prior acquittal relating to a $5.6 million fraud case concerning the Gwanda Solar Power Project.

As the situation unfolds, the public eagerly awaits further clarification from Chivayo in light of the Lesotho government’s clear disavowal of his business assertions.

RBZ Governor Dumps US Dollar For ZiG

By Business Reporter- RBZ Governor John Mushayavanhu’s recent announcement to phase out the United States dollar in favour of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency has raised eyebrows and scepticism among Zimbabweans.

Mushayavanhu’s assertion that the de-dollarization plan will succeed, with the aim to ban the USD by 2026, seems detached from the economic reality faced by the nation.

While the RBZ paints a rosy picture of ZiG as a solution to exchange rate volatility and inflation, many Zimbabweans remain unconvinced.

The roots of the country’s economic woes lie deeper than the choice of currency.

Zimbabwe has grappled with hyperinflation, currency instability, and economic mismanagement for over two decades.

The introduction of ZiG, touted as backed by gold and other precious metals, is presented as a panacea for Zimbabwe’s economic woes.

However, skepticism arises when examining the feasibility and sustainability of such a move.

Critics argue that simply introducing a new currency does not address the underlying structural issues plaguing the economy.

Mushayavanhu’s claims that 80% of transactions currently occur in USD and that the de-dollarization process will gradually shift this balance seem overly optimistic. Given the lack of trust in the local currency due to past experiences of hyperinflation and economic instability, convincing Zimbabweans to embrace ZiG will be an uphill battle.

Moreover, Mushayavanhu’s dismissal of the parallel market for foreign currency as “non-existent” is met with skepticism. Reports of individuals resorting to the parallel market for foreign exchange highlight the deep-rooted issues of trust and confidence in the official banking system.

The involvement of law enforcement agencies in curbing the parallel market raises questions about the government’s approach to addressing economic challenges. Critics argue that heavy-handed tactics may further erode trust in the financial system and exacerbate social tensions.

Despite assurances from the RBZ, the viability of ZiG remains uncertain. While backed by gold, the stability of the currency hinges on various factors, including global gold prices and economic policies. Without addressing fundamental issues such as corruption, mismanagement, and lack of investor confidence, the introduction of ZiG may offer little more than a temporary reprieve.

In conclusion, while the RBZ’s efforts to promote ZiG may be well-intentioned, they must be accompanied by comprehensive economic reforms to address the root causes of Zimbabwe’s economic challenges. Merely switching currencies without addressing underlying structural issues is unlikely to lead to sustainable economic stability and prosperity for the nation.

Reject ZiG, Chamisa Aide Declares

By A Correspondent

Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, a prominent ally of opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has issued a resolute stance against Zimbabwe’s new currency, ZiG, denouncing it as “useless” amidst broader calls for rejecting the ruling ZANU PF party.

In a direct and unequivocal statement, Chuma declared, “For ZiG, corruption and all other evils, ZANU PF must be rejected at all levels.”

This assertion underscores a broader sentiment within the opposition movement that links economic grievances with political change.

Chuma’s stance on the ZiG currency reflects widespread skepticism and dissatisfaction with Zimbabwe’s economic policies under the current regime.

The introduction of ZiG was intended to address currency stability but has faced criticism for failing to address underlying economic challenges.

In urging action, Chuma made a specific call to voters, stating, “We urge Harare East residents to vote for Ropafadzo Cheza & Mt Pleasant to vote Nason Mamutse in Saturday’s by-elections.”

This endorsement signals a strategic move by the opposition to mobilize support and challenge the ruling party in local elections.

The convergence of economic critique with political mobilization underscores the interconnected nature of Zimbabwe’s challenges.

The rejection of ZiG currency is emblematic of broader grievances against government mismanagement and corruption, fueling calls for political change.

Chuma’s call to action highlights the stakes of the upcoming by-elections and the role of grassroots mobilization in effecting political change.

By advocating for specific candidates, Chuma seeks to galvanize support and translate discontent into electoral outcomes.

As Zimbabwe navigates ongoing economic and political challenges, voices like Chuma’s serve as catalysts for mobilization and reform.

The rejection of ZiG and the call to reject ZANU PF resonate with citizens disillusioned by years of economic hardship and political repression.

Stephen Sarkozy Chuma’s declaration reflects a broader narrative of resistance and mobilization against entrenched power structures in Zimbabwe.

The rejection of ZiG currency underscores deeper grievances and aspirations for a more accountable and responsive governance.

As the political landscape evolves, Chuma’s message signals a call to action for citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of their country.

In a statement that reverberated with conviction, Chuma proclaimed, “Real change is coming. Yes, it’s coming sooner than expected. Not even Emmerson Mnangagwa and his bunch of looters can stop it.”

John Mushayavanhu Throws Massive ZiG Party, Rejects Own ZiG Money By Pegging Costs In USD

By A Correspondent

In a surprising turn of events, Dr. John Mushayavanhu, the recently appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, is set to host a lavish celebration party this Saturday in Gutu, his home area.

This extravagant event comes at a challenging time for Zimbabwe, with its economy facing persistent hardships.

The festivities are expected to cost a substantial amount, likely totaling thousands of dollars.

What has sparked notable interest and criticism, however, is the decision to budget the entire affair in United States dollars, as opposed to Zimbabwean currency.

“This move is particularly noteworthy because it reflects a lack of confidence in the local currency,” disclosed a government source on Friday.

This revelation has raised eyebrows, especially given Dr. Mushayavanhu’s prominent position within Zimbabwe’s economic hierarchy.

The timing of such an ostentatious gathering has also been a point of contention.

While many citizens struggle daily with economic challenges, including hyperinflation and currency devaluation, the decision to use a foreign currency for the celebration has been viewed as a stark contrast to the prevailing financial reality.

Dr. Mushayavanhu’s approach to the party’s finances has sparked debates about economic policy and leadership.

Some critics argue that using foreign currency for personal or public expenditures only serves to further undermine confidence in Zimbabwe’s own monetary system.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Governor suggest that the use of US dollars reflects practical considerations, given the volatility of Zimbabwe’s currency.

They maintain that it is a pragmatic choice to ensure the success and stability of the event.

As the event unfolds this weekend, all eyes will be on Gutu, where festivities will showcase both celebration and controversy. Dr. Mushayavanhu’s party, set against the backdrop of economic struggle, underscores the complex challenges facing Zimbabwe’s financial landscape and the delicate balance between fiscal policy and public perception.
