Tried Makes $2800 Selling Someone Else’s Car

### Breaking News: Arrest Made in Stolen Car Case

A Bulawayo man has been apprehended after the theft of a silver Toyota Raum, reg. ADN 2188, from the city center. The car’s owner parked it between 1st and 2nd Avenue, locking it securely before heading to work. Upon returning, the vehicle was nowhere to be found, prompting a police report.

Detectives from the CID Vehicle Theft Squad received information about the missing car on November 9. They found the vehicle parked along George Silundika Street and traced it back to Mike Tapfumaneyi Munyengeterwa (38) from Northend Bulawayo, who had allegedly purchased the stolen car from Mzingaye Ncube (25).

Ncube, the accused, admitted to using a duplicate key kept from the time he sold the car to the complainant. The total value of the theft amounted to US$2,800, all of which was recovered upon arrest.

Inspector Abednego Ncube emphasized the importance of verifying vehicle purchases through the police, cautioning against impulsive buys to avoid situations where the vehicle’s history might not be clean.- state media

Kereke Gets Bail

Former Legislator and HMMAS CEO Granted Bail

Former Bikita West legislator Munyaradzi Kereke and suspended HMMAS CEO Everesto Rukasha, accused of defrauding the medical aid society of US$400,000, were granted US$200 bail each. Magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa cited their non-flight risk status and their presumption of innocence until proven guilty. They are remanded until December 13.

The State alleges Kereke misrepresented being owed US$400,000 by the society after selling his hospital to HMMAS in 2014. Kereke denies this, claiming the total amount due was US$1,138,000, with US$937,000 already paid. The prosecution contends the price was $400,000 and aiming to claim an additional $400,000 was deemed criminal.- state media

Former President Mnangagwa Struggling With His Own Portrait In Egypt

Nation Mourns Dr Rush

TRIBUTES continue to pour in for Rahman “Dr Rush” Gumbo, the legendary footballer and coach who died this Friday at a Francistown hospital in Botswana.

With a career spanning two decades, and a show of great sportsmanship as a player and coach, Rahman Gumbo, who was called to be with the Lord on Friday, has been remembered as a man who played an integral role in Zimbabwean football, having played for, and coached the national team, other local teams and football teams beyond Zimbabwean borders.

Family spokesperson, Mr Zebulon Mhlanga described Rahman as a charming person who loved and was loved by the people.

“Soccer legends came to pay their tributes following the death of Rahman and this goes to show that he was indeed an influential person not only in football but the society as well. He was quite a character, he was charming and a people’s person. His loss is greatly felt,” he said.

Having played with Rahman in their prime years, former Highlanders player Lawrence Phiri said the football fraternity has lost greatly as Gumbo was an exceptional team player.

Phiri said, “From the very first time I saw Rahman; I knew he was destined to be a great man which is why I facilitated his entry into Highlanders. He was a very good team player, and he represented Zimbabwe very well even in the international scene. He will be greatly missed.”

Friend and former manager for the late football star Omega Sibanda was at a loss for words, reiterating that Rahman was a good friend on and off the field.

“Rush was my very good friend and I was his manager when he was still a player. We were even business partners, I do not know what will be of me without my good friend,” said Sibanda.

Messages from different football clubs and the football fraternity have been pouring in for the legend “Rush” as he was affectionately known, a clear indication that he indeed etched his name in the annals of Zimbabwean football history.

Munetsi Bounces Back

Marshall Munetsi wore a face mask on his return from a short injury spell on Saturday.

The Zimbabwean midfielder spent two weeks on the sidelines after suffering a broken nose.

Following his recovery, Munetsi started for his French side Stade de Reims in their 3-0 loss against PSG.

The Warriors international, however, was employed as a false 9 in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

When Reims reverts to defence, Munetsi, who usually plays in the central midfield or in defensive role, would be left alone upfront to start the high press.-Soccer24 News

What Is Overspending In Mining?

In business you invest with the aim of making profit long term and sustainable. Inorder to do that just make a small informal business by listing what you need with exact value don’t forget to include monitoring expenses identify a claim close to you or never invest . If you are still tempted to invest far increase scope of investment so that all you will be able to all final production activities month end .
2 nothing can replace your presence
Gold is a currency that can be used without any purification or processing and around Zimbabwe you find gold nuggets of 5points upto 10kg your absence means you won’t be able to see it or account for production done using your own money. Be there from day one study everything learn all risks and rewards.

Your kids , wife and relatives are not you they can steal from you infact most gold related theft or lack of accountability is orchestrated by related especially the son or daughter in most cases l have come across.

Besides stealing they usually unknowingly disturb or sabotage production in the name of relative. All gold production ends are guarded by mine owner , sponsors or investors and workers nothing is left to chance.

3 avoid overspending on monitoring
Avoid driving up and down to the mine in the name of monitoring because it’s useless and unnecessary unless you spend at least 6hrs of day time at the mine use public transport and avoid hiring transport for transactions that don’t need a car .

If you want to use a car increase your investment scope to accommodate the car .when ever gold pays you handsomely remember they are dark days ahead plan wisely and create proper backup.

Sacred Month Of November – Zimbabwe

Happy New lunar month maShona. May the forces be with you!

It is said that our Shona Ancestors return on the first day of the new moon, today, marking the end of Mwedzi waMbubdzi.

In Pre-colonial times (pre-1884), all maShona tribes celebrated this day with kubika doro, appeasing their ancestors and connecting with their ancestors in many special ways. They would eat together, thank God (Musikavanhu), traditional dancing, drumming and singing the night away.

MaShona people knew that their ancestors “Nzeve” (ear) was now paying attention to their requests and wishes. MaShona Ancestors will then gather all these wishes and requests, and the next Mwedzi waMbudzi, go away to the heavens, taking all our requests and wishes to bargain on your behalf to Musikavanhu. This is why November (lunar month) is sacred. Our ancestors are not there to participate in any celebrations we have, they are busy conferencing with God.

On their return today, bikai doro, invite family and friends to eat together, proudly reciting your totem poems, thank God and hope all your prayers, requests and wishes are award in the coming New Lunar Year.

Auxillia Cancels UK Trip After ZimEye Investigation Exposing London Hotel Booking With Married Man

By A Correspondent | The First Lady of Zimbabwe, Auxillia Mnangagwa, has canceled her upcoming trip to the UK following the publication of an investigation by the ZimEye news network. The investigation revealed that Mnangagwa had booked to stay at an expensive hotel in London and was planning to bring a large entourage with her, at a cost of close to 3 million dollars.

The investigation also raised questions about the First Lady’s professional relationship with Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the UK, Christian Katsande. The two were booked to stay in the same hotel premises- the Taj London, and the ambassador has been accused of spending lavishly on Mnangagwa’s previous visit to the UK.

The First Lady’s office has not given a reason for the cancellation of her trip, but it is widely believed to be in response to the ZimEye investigation. The investigation has sparked outrage in Zimbabwe, where many people are struggling to make ends meet.

Auxillia’s London sadza cooking competition programs have been taken over by the Tourism Minister Barbara Rwodzi.

The development follows another expose in 2022 when during the making of the GoldMafia documentary, Mrs Mnangagwa, pleaded multiple times on a videocall with ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza begging that the journalist should not curse her, and repeated this screaming at the rate of 2 times per minute in the over 35 minutes of the call which she did by mistake, an explosive news engagement which was only disrupted by the anti-Chamisa activist, Hopewell Chin’ono who threatened Chikanza with a false claim that UK police were coming to Auxillia’s assistance.

The ZimEye investigation also revealed that Mnangagwa had been involved in the conviction of Henrietta Rushwaya, the president of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation. Rushwaya was recently jailed for gold smuggling, and sources have told ZimEye that while there was a case for smuggling, the conviction coming at a time when other smugglers walk scotfree, was motivated by Auxillia at a personal level.

The First Lady is also accused of being involved in the downfall of former Energy Minister Fortune Chasi and businessman Tinashe Mutarisi. Mutarisi’s factory building was recently burnt down, and it is claimed that this was because he did not donate enough money to Mnangagwa’s Angel Of Hope Foundation.

The ZimEye investigation has shed light on the lavish lifestyle of the First Lady and her alleged involvement in corruption.

The London ambassador Katsande did not respond to requests for comment. – ZimEye

David Cameron Bounces Back Into Govt as UK Foreign Secretary

By A Correspondent | Former Prime Minister David Cameron has been appointed UK Foreign Secretary by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The move comes after the sacking of Suella Braverman from the role and a reshuffling of the cabinet.

Cameron, who has been out of front-line politics for the last seven years, said in a statement that he was “honored to serve” as Foreign Secretary and that he looked forward to working with the team at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

“We are facing a daunting set of international challenges, including the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East,” he said. “At this time of profound global change, it has rarely been more important for this country to stand by our allies, strengthen our partnerships and make sure our voice is heard.”

Cameron also praised the work of the FCDO and its staff, saying that they were “some of the finest assets of their kind anywhere in the world.”

“I know from my time in office that they are staffed by brilliant, patriotic and hard-working people,” he said. “They have been well led by James Cleverly, with whom I look forward to working in his vital new role.”

Cameron’s appointment is likely to be met with mixed reactions. Some will see it as a sign of Sunak’s strength and determination, while others will criticize it as a cynical move to shore up support among Conservative MPs.

However, there is no doubt that Cameron is a highly experienced and respected politician. He served as Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016 and oversaw the UK’s recovery from the financial crisis. He also played a key role in securing the passage of same-sex marriage legislation.

It remains to be seen how Cameron will perform in his new role. However, his appointment is a clear sign that Sunak is determined to get the best people in place to deliver his agenda.

**Analysis**

Cameron’s appointment is a bold move by Sunak. It is a sign that he is not afraid to take risks and that he is willing to bring in experienced politicians from outside his own circle.

Cameron’s experience as Prime Minister and his strong relationships with world leaders will be invaluable to Sunak as he seeks to navigate the UK through the current international challenges.

However, Cameron’s appointment is also a gamble. He is a divisive figure and his return to front-line politics could alienate some voters.

It remains to be seen how Cameron will perform in his new role. However, his appointment is a sign that Sunak is determined to build a strong and experienced team around him.

Family abandons own relative battling cancer

In a shocking display of heartlessness, a 37-year-old man battling lower bottom cancer has been abandoned by his own family at a local hospital for a staggering 13 months.

Admire Matetakufa, hailing from Mazowe, has been stranded in the hospital since August last year.

He revealed the devastating truth that his relatives have effectively left him to face his battle alone, with no support or care.

Initially brought to the hospital under the pretext of receiving medical attention, Admire soon realized that his family’s intentions were far from benevolent. It became painfully clear that they sought to rid themselves of him during his time of dire need.

Admire, who is undergoing treatment for cancer caused by sexually transmitted diseases, also shared the heartbreak of his wife abandoning him for another man. This abandonment left him responsible for their three children, all of whom are now under the care of social welfare.

Desperate for assistance, Admire is reaching out to the kindness of strangers. His plea is simple yet urgent: he needs food, shelter for himself and his children, and various other forms of support. Despite the emotional toll of being deserted by those closest to him, Admire remains hopeful, buoyed by the doctors’ assurance that they are doing everything possible to save him.

He says that his father’s relatives have disowned him during his illness, with some even cruelly stating that he emitted a bad odour due to cancer. Admire painfully recounted the hurtful words spoken by his own kin,

“Doctors have promised to do their best to save me. My relatives abandoned me after I fell ill, saying that I should go to my late mother’s relatives. My late father’s relatives deserted me saying that I was not their relative and I have a bad odour due to the cancer.”

With the expectation of eventually being discharged from the hospital, Admire is in dire need of a new place to call home, where he can rebuild his life alongside his children. iHarare

Retirement Package Proposal for President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

By Farai D Hove

Preamble

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) recognizes the valuable contributions made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the development and peace of the region during his tenure in office. In recognition of his service, SADC proposes the following retirement package:

Benefits

  • Immunity from prosecution: President Mnangagwa shall be granted immunity from prosecution for any acts or omissions committed during his tenure in office. This immunity shall extend to both domestic and international courts.
  • Full salary USD4,000 per month for life: President Mnangagwa shall be paid a full salary of USD4,000 per month for life. This salary shall be paid by the government of Zimbabwe.

The immunity from prosecution is necessary to protect him from politically motivated charges. The full salary and bodyguards are necessary to ensure that he can live comfortably and safely. The Parliamentary Act of Law is necessary to protect him from the media and social media scrutiny that can be so damaging to public figures.

Conclusion

SADC urges the government of Zimbabwe to accept this retirement package proposal. It is a fitting tribute to President Mnangagwa’s service to his country and the region.

Additional Notes– Disclaimer

  • The SADC retirement package proposal is fictitious, satirical, and does not reflect the actual retirement package of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

ZIFA Coach Harassment Trial

The trial commenced on Friday as Shadreck Mlauzi, the Mighty Warriors head coach, denied two counts of indecent assault. Pleading not guilty, Mlauzi firmly asserted his innocence, stating he’d never violated anyone’s rights, emphasizing his extensive tenure in women’s football without incident. He defended a virtual relationship with the complainant, expressing disappointment over the charges.

His defense included details of the complainant’s accessibility to his room as part of the technical team, dismissing any misconduct beyond admiration for her beauty. During cross-examination, the complainant emotionally recounted feeling degraded and disclosed the football federation’s attempts to conceal the case.

The alleged incidents took place in Zimbabwe and South Africa, with specific details outlined. The first count, occurring at a lodge in Harare, involved an alleged attempt to kiss the complainant without consent. The second count, in South Africa, implicated an alleged instruction for a massage and improper advances after a monetary exchange.

The complainant’s distress (allegations) following match-related harassment prompted her to report the incidents to the Cosafa safeguarding officer, leading to counseling and the formal charges of indecent assault against Mlauzi. The trial continues with the examination of witnesses and evidence.

Mnangagwa In His Own Words Saying He Can’t Be A President

-Emmerson Mnangagwa States Refusal to be Acknowledged as President of Zimbabwe-

By Farai D Hove | In an unexpected turn of events, Emmerson Mnangagwa, the leader of ZANU PF, made a startling announcement, declaring his disassociation from the title of President of Zimbabwe.

On the grand staircase of the recent SADC Extraordinary Summit in Luanda’s venue, a visibly tense Mnangagwa conversed rapidly with journalist Reuben Barwe, unveiling his declaration. Mnangagwa, while conversing with Barwe, emphatically expressed his flaws or sins make him too low to be equated among nation Presidents.

He further elaborated on his stance, asserting, he can never be a President like other real heads of states at the summit referred to as Priests.

This unprecedented declaration added intensity to the summit’s ongoing discussions, particularly surrounding the Zimbabwean election, an issue SADC had publicly confirmed as part of the extraordinary summit’s agenda.

In a brief exchange, Barwe, seeking clarity, inquired about potential challenges to the summit’s focus. Mnangagwa assured him, “No, these things happen in society. Not everybody is a Priest, so you find these things happen. We are so alert that we had gone to deal with the things that are relevant to the Summit.”

Despite the sensational declaration, Mnangagwa said that the summit primarily centered around issues concerning the Democratic Republic of Congo, as he tried to dispel revelations of disruption caused by Zimbabwe-related matters.

VIDEO

The shocking revelation by Mnangagwa raises profound questions about the political landscape in Zimbabwe and casts uncertainty over the country’s leadership and future. As the summit continues, the repercussions and implications of this unexpected announcement remain a subject of great speculation and intrigue.

ZIFA Mum On Rahman Gumbo Death

Zimbabwe Football Association and National Premier Soccer League have remained silent and no word from the 2 football entities about the death of Rahman Gumbo. As for the chaotic Zifa which is curently run by NC, the so called football people to ignore or fail to issue a statement is shocking and embarrassing. If they don’t recognise the death of a football icon, a man who served and played under Zifa and worked for long as a national coach for the warriors, its clear they lack understanding of the sport. If we have really football people running the game, there should be a minute of silence in all Premier league games in Zimbabwe today.

Rahman Gumbo played for Bulawayo Wanderers later Eagles, Highlanders and became Bosso head coach after retiring playing, Sporting Lions, Caps United, Platinum FC, Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs Tell-One among others and also various teams in Malawi, Botswana and South Africa. He is the first coach and remains the only one to win league championship titles in 3 different countries. He remains the winningest coach in Highlanders history where he won 3 league titles in a row.

His strategic brilliance and a keen eye for talent helped Bosso dominate Zimbabwean football in the late 90s and in the turn of the millennium. Under his guidance, Highlanders enjoyed remarkable success, claiming multiple titles and producing numerous Zimbabwean stars. Rush’s emphasis on discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic has left an enduring legacy that continues to shape the program. He deserves national Hero’s status and may Zimbabwe authorities grant him one. He was a kind, funny, loveable and larger than life character who was friends to everyone he met. Rest In Power Rah

Munhenzva bus driver fined for smuggling live ammunition

By A Correspondent- A driver with Munhenzva Bus Service has been fined US$400 for smuggling 200 rounds of live ammunition from South Africa into Zimbabwe.

Casper Ranganai Pakai (29), pleaded guilty when he appeared before Beitbridge magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba on Tuesday.

Pakai, of Glen View 1 Extension, Harare, and employed by Go Well Travellers Bus Company (also known as Munhenzva), was intercepted at the Bubi roadblock by security agents under the ‘No to Cross Border Crimes’ operation.

He had 200 rounds of 12-bore gauge calibre and 10 small boxes with 50x650mm round pellets each on the bus.

The bus had entered Zimbabwe through Beitbridge Border Post from Polokwane, South Africa, destined for Harare with 23 passengers on board.

The contraband was discovered when security agents conducted a routine search.

Pakai told the police the contraband belonged to one Lloyd Nyere. He, however, pleaded guilty to contravening the Firearms Act and was fined US$400 or, alternatively two months in jail. Ronald Mugwagwa appeared for the State. Southern Eye

Daring man storms police station, destroys criminal record book

A 40 year old man from Mbembesi’s Nqokola village in Matabeleland North province stormed into a local police station and destroyed a criminal record book kept in the charge office. The incident occurred on Sunday.

Pumulani Tshabalala, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to four months in prison when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube early this week.

It was the State’s case that a police officer, Kholekile Dlamini, was on duty on November 5 in the afternoon, when Tshabalala stormed into the charge office saying there were people pursuing him.

The court heard that Dlamini went outside to check for the pursuers but found no one and when he returned to the charge office, Tshabalala had disappeared.

The State said at 6pm when Dlamini was preparing to knock off, he discovered that one of the record books (RRB 04\23) was missing.

The court was told that while Dlamini was searching for the record book, one of his colleagues showed him torn pieces of paper from the record book.

A team of officers traced footprints and pieces of the book were recovered along a path used by Tshabalala when he left the police station.

Investigations led to Tshabalala’s arrest. Southern Eye

PG’s office promises to conclude high profile cases

By A Correspondent- The speedy conclusion of high-profile cases appears to be the new norm under the country’s new Prosecutor-General, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, who was appointed last month and promised to introduce “a culture of concluding cases”.

The conviction of high-profile cases including former Deputy Finance Minister Terrence Mukupe and Zimbabwe Miners Federation president Henrietta Rushwaya has since seen the National Prosecution Authority receiving plaudits from ordinary Zimbabweans.

Over the years, people said they were losing confidence in the NPA for taking forever to conclude high-profile cases.

This resulted in the public saying the NPA was engaging in a “catch and release” exercise, to “pacify those complaining of corruption in high places”.

However, that perception has changed dramatically in the last few days following the conviction of Rushwaya for attempting to smuggle gold to Dubai, through the VIP route at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport three years ago. The gold weighed 6kg and was valued at US$333 000.

Former Deputy Minister Mukupe was also convicted this week for importing more than 138 000 litres of diesel without paying duty.

Both are still to be sentenced, but generally sentence follows roughly a week after conviction, with the judge or magistrate having to preside over a sentence hearing that now incorporates factual evidence from the victim over what they lost, plus the normal argument in aggravation and mitigation.

The judge now has to apply the sentencing guidelines to the required degree, and produce a written sentencing judgment outlining their reasons for the sentence passed.

In separate interviews yesterday, Harare residents said the ongoing trend of prosecutions should be sustained to eradicate corruption in the country.

A resident of Old Tafara in Harare, Mr Tinashe Zisengwe, said the conviction of high-profile cases was commendable.

“The new Prosecutor-General (Justice Matanda-Moyo) is living true to her words that ‘the NPA needs to have a culture of hard work while concluding cases”, he said.

“We are glad to be witnessing that within her first month in office. It gives us confidence as citizens to see suspects being convicted of the crimes they committed”.

A Ruwa resident, Ms Rumbidzai Mawonde, said the speedy conclusion of cases was the way to go as justice delayed is usually justice denied.

“Some people were staying in remand prison for long while their cases were just dragging on. Others were walking scot-free in town as their cases took long to be concluded, leaving many people questioning the work ethic of the NPA and the courts.

“However, I am happy with the way cases are moving since the coming in of PG Matanda-Moyo.

“All that is needed is for the Government to support the new PG,” she said.

Mr Victor Dumba of Warren Park D, Harare, said: “We were used to the ‘catch and release syndrome’. Our only hope is that the current trend of prosecutions will continue”.

Mrs Annastancia Magorimbo said the fight against crime is the responsibility of every citizen.

“While I commend the new trend at the NPA, I still believe it is the duty of every Zimbabwean to combat crime,” she said.

PG Matanda-Moyo, who is the immediate-past chairperson of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission, took her oath of office on October 10.

In her remarks, she bemoaned the slow pace of prosecution of cases.

“As I go into that office, we are definitely going to make some changes. We need a culture of hard work. We need a culture of concluding cases.

“Cases cannot proceed for a long time, cases must simply go into court while we are ready to prosecute and within the shortest period of time, cases must be concluded before the courts,” she said.

PG Matanda-Moyo said her job will be to institute and conduct criminal trials.

“So, I will be leading the team in the prosecution of criminal matters in Zimbabwe. I do understand that currently there is a backlog and our task is to clear that backlog,” she said. The Herald

Mnangagwa Officially Tells ZBC, I Can’t Be Equated To A State President, A Priest

The shocking revelation by Mnangagwa raises profound questions about the political landscape in Zimbabwe and casts uncertainty over the country’s leadership and future. As the summit continues, the repercussions and implications of this unexpected announcement remain a subject of great speculation and intrigue.

Tshabangu Funded To Eliminate Anti-Gukurahundi Advocate Mafa-Sibanda

By James Gwati- Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-proclaimed CCC interim secretary general, has dealt a severe blow to the Ndebele tribe by recalling CCC spokesperson Senator Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda from the Senate.

Mafa Sibanda, a veteran politician and pro-democracy activist, has long been at the forefront of demanding accountability for the Gukurahundi atrocities that claimed over 20,000 lives in the early 1980s.

Tshabangu’s move is seen by many as a strategic manoeuvre aligned with President Emerson Mnangagwa’s agenda to silence Mafa Sibanda from pushing the Gukurahundi compensation discourse through parliament. Recently, Tshabangu distanced Mnangagwa from the Gukurahundi atrocities, attributing the heinous crimes to the late President Robert Mugabe.

The recall of CCC spokesperson Mafa Sibanda underscores Zanu PF’s intolerance of dissent and signals the government’s determination to crush any opposition, raising concerns about the state of democracy and freedom in Zimbabwe.

Felix Magalela Mafa Sibanda: A Stalwart for Democracy

Mafa Sibanda’s dedication to serving Zimbabwe spans decades. His political career began in the 1970s with Zapu, fighting against the Rhodesian regime. A key figure in organizing mass strikes against Mugabe’s government in the 1980s, Mafa Sibanda’s leadership in the Zimbabwe Teachers’ Union marked a turning point in challenging authoritarian rule.

Beyond his political activism, Mafa Sibanda is a successful businessman, the founder and CEO of Sibanda Holdings, with interests in mining, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Zanu PF Persecution and Sibanda’s Legacy

Mafa Sibanda’s commitment to democracy comes at a personal cost. Having lost a son to the Gukurahundi genocide, he faced persecution, with his house set on fire by ZANU-PF nationalists in 1990. Forced to flee Harare, he has since lived in Bulawayo.

Sengezo Tshabangu: A Controversial Figure

Tshabangu, a Zanu PF loyalist rumoured to be President Mnangagwa’s son, has a history of using violence and intimidation to silence opponents. In 2020, he was accused of assaulting an MDC member.

Implications for Democracy

Mafa Sibanda’s recall from the Senate is a profound setback for the people of Zimbabwe. However, his legacy as a true hero dedicated to social justice, accountability, and democracy remains unshakable. Tshabangu’s actions are viewed as a threat to democracy and freedom, yet they cannot erase Mafa Sibanda’s enduring inspiration for future generations of freedom fighters.

Mahere blasts ZACC

By A Correspondent- Citizens Coalition for Change legislator for Mount Pleasant Fadzayi Mahere yesterday blasted the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for coming up with a shoddy report for 2022 as it has zero exposes on the corruption and illicit financial flows that are draining the country of US$2.8 million a year.

She said this during the debate on the 2022 ZACC report arguing that ZACC had clearly shown that it was captured as it was silent on serious corruption cases.

“Section 255 of the Constitution makes it abundantly clear; they have an obligation to investigate and expose corruption. When all is said and done, we saw zero exposé reported in the 2022 report. This is not withstanding a plethora of corruption incidents,” Mahere said.

“On some of the data that comes out in that report, you will see that only 147 cases were referred to the police. That is done in a country that is losing US2.8, almost US3 billion. What is ZACC doing? Why are they being funded if only 140 cases are referred to the police?……..

“What we see is that the sentiment exhibited by public that ZACC is actually captured right at the top and we are going to see that and when the 2023 report comes out, we expect ZACC to be attending to particular cases. We expect the 2023 report to cover the gold mafia scandal. They cannot shy away from important corruption cases that were exposed and reported by others because they are politically captured. So, we expect ZACC to do more. This report simply does not meet the constitutional standard,” she said.

Full contribution:

HON. MAHERE: Thank you very much Hon. Speaker, the report of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission is of concern indeed, in light of the fact that Zimbabwe loses USD2.8 million to illicit financial flows and corruption every single year.

We would have expected to hear more from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission concerning what they are doing especially in light of their constitutional prerogative. Section 255 of the Constitution makes it abundantly clear; they have an obligation to investigate and expose corruption. When all is said and done, we saw zero exposé reported in the 2022 report. This is not withstanding a plethora of corruption incidents.

The Ministry of Finance Prof. M. Ncube even reported in the operative period that a US100 million was lost every single month to gold leakages. The report is silent on all that. We are aware of the COTTCO scandal involving a former Hon. Member from ZANU PF, Hon. Wadyajena, there is absolutely nothing said in the report about these key important cases.

What the Constitution requires in Section 257 is that this report should include particular matters relating to improper conduct in the public and private sectors. There is not a single particular matter that has been reported in this report. All we hear is engagement and networking. This report is not meant to be a window dressing or box ticking exercise.

We are supposed to ensure that they expose corruption. It cannot be the case that the incidence of corruption that are taking place in Zimbabwe should be investigated by ZEC, actually investigated by external investigators. We saw the same report in 2022 that went into detail around corruption and a number of other issues including an exposé on Kuda Tagwirei, we would have wanted to see some sort of exposé attempt by ZEC to do something.

The conduct we have seen on ZEC is that whenever corruption takes place at the high levels, they suddenly become incapacitated. They are making low level officials sign, that is what we hear in their report. They do not speak about the important corruption cases that are taking place and are robing this country of important funds.

On some of the data that comes out in that report, you will see that only 147 cases were referred to the police. That is done in a country that is losing US2.8, almost US3 billion. What is ZACC doing? Why are they being funded if only 140 cases are referred to the police?

If you remember yesterday, NPA Report, the prosecutor is saying all these economic crimes that come before them, they have only completed 38%, a low clearance rate together with the inactivity on the part of ZACC is what is costing corruption. So, we see that the report by ZACC proves the inefficiency in their failure to attend to their constitutional mandate yet it does not stop there. If you look at the majority of, I believe it is part 5 where they are dealing with combating corruption, you can see that ZACC sits back and expects corruption to be reported to it, they are waiting for complaints to come to them. However, section 255 of the Constitution says that they are meant to be proactive and go and investigate but they completely failed.

What we see is that the sentiment exhibited by public that ZACC is actually captured right at the top and we are going to see that and when the 2023 report comes out, we expect ZACC to be attending to particular cases.

We expect the 2023 report to cover the gold mafia scandal. They cannot shy away from important corruption cases that were exposed and reported by others because they are politically captured. So, we expect ZACC to do more. This report simply does not meet the constitutional standard.

THE TEMPORARY SPEAKER: Thank you Hon. Mahere but next time you should avoid mentioning the names of the people who are not here and who cannot defend themselves. The Insider

Zim truckers turn to High Court

By A Correspondent- Several Zimbabwean truckers rushed to the Durban High Court this week seeking an urgent interdict to stop their employer terminating their employment on the grounds that they are illegal immigrants.

The respondents in the case are the employer, Image Freight Logistics, the ministers of Transport, Labour and Home Affairs, and the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry (NBCRFLI).

The case was brought by the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit Holders Association (Zepha) and 11 truck drivers who say their employer advised them by WhatsApp notice that they were illegal immigrants without the necessary permits to work in SA – despite the fact they are all ZEP holders.

Threat of prosecution

Zepha reports that several trucking companies have started purging their staff of Zimbabwean truck drivers, most of them ZEP holders, on false allegations that they are undocumented foreign nationals.

“All ZEP holders are documented and have a lawful right to live and work in South Africa,” says a statement from Zepha.

“The South African logistics companies that are letting go of Zimbabwean truck drivers are doing so under threat of criminal prosecution for hiring illegal migrants [by] the National Bargaining Council for Road Freight and Logistics Industry (NBCRFLI).”

The Zimbabwe Exemption Permit allows about 180 000 Zimbabweans and their dependents to live, work and study in SA.

The Department of Home Affairs was challenged in court earlier this year over its decision to terminate the permit system by June 2023, which would mean ZEP holders and their dependents would either have to apply for alternative visas or risk being deported.

The court heard evidence that this had the potential to create a humanitarian crisis across the region, and that few permit holders were likely to qualify for alternative visas based on Home Affairs’ Critical Skills List.

In a case brought by the Helen Suzman Foundation earlier this year, the Pretoria High Court declared that all ZEP permits were valid until June 2024. The court also declared invalid the decision by Home Affairs to terminate existing ZEPs in June 2023, and referred the matter back to the department for reconsideration, following a fair process.

Dismissal by WhatsApp

In court papers before the Durban High Court, the truckers say they were effectively fired by WhatsApp message based on the false claim that they do not have the correct work permits for employment in the trucking sector.

“Please note that you do not have a valid work permit. Therefore you are not legal to drive (sic) a South African truck.

“Take note, that if you are currently doing a trip, it will be your last one,” reads the WhatsApp message sent by the employer on 28 October.

Bargaining council circular

This follows a circular by the industry bargaining council on 24 October calling on employers to stop hiring foreign truck drivers because it is not a scarce skill, and would help to address unemployment and curb unrest.

The circular claims many in the industry have taken issue with companies employing foreign nationals as truckers rather than South Africans.

“The Parties are of the firm belief that if responsible companies refrain from this illegal act and prioritise employing South African truck drivers as professional truck driving is unfortunately not a scarce skill, these may help address unemployment within the sector and curb unrest.”

‘No authority’

Court papers read: “The irreparable harm, when ZEP holders have lost their jobs, as threatened by the employers, is that affected ZEP holders and their dependents would be left destitute and in dire straits.

“The industry bargaining council has no authority to enforce immigration laws or to assume the powers of the police,” says Advocate Simba Chitando, who is representing Zepha in court.

“Both the police and the Department of Home Affairs are independent and operate strictly within the parameters of applicable statutes, none of which delegate the NBCRFLI with any power. The courts have made it clear that ZEP holders are not undocumented migrants and have a lawful right to live and work in South Africa.” NewZimbabwe

TikTok’s creator fund to be suspended

TikTok is suspending its Creator Fund, a $1 billion allotment to pay the app’s users for creating successful content. The company is replacing the fund with another program that it said will pay creators more money.

The fund was rolled out in 2021, giving successful creators – people who make TikTok videos with at least 100k views – an opportunity to apply to make money off their videos.

TikTok, which launched the fund with $200 million in 2020, said at the time it would hit $1 billion in the U.S. in three years. CBS News has reached out to TikTok to confirm how much it paid out.

But some creators complained about how little they made from the fund. In January 2022, after creator Hank Green complained about TikTok’s Creator Fund in a YouTube video, some other prominent creators started sharing their earnings.

Green, who has 8 million followers and 599.7 million likes on TikTok, said in the 24-minute YouTube video titled “So… TikTok sucks” that he made about 2.5 cents per 1,000 views on TikTok.

Green mainly posts vlogs and op-ed style videos on YouTube, where he has 1.64 million subscribers. His video about TikTok has 1 million views.

He called the Creator Fund a “static pool,” saying the money TikTok pays creators doesn’t change – even if the app is making more money on content posted by creators. YouTube, however, pays a percentage of the ad money made on a video, Green said. The more views and ad money a YouTube video rakes in, the more money the creator can get. It is unclear what percentage the creator is awarded from YouTube.

A creator named SuperSaf, who has 652.5K followers and 10.4 million likes on TikTok, replied to Green on Twitter, the platform now known as X. He shared a screenshot that showed he had made about £112 – $137 U.S. dollars – in about 10 months on the Creator Fund.

“This is how much I’ve made from the TikTok Creator Fund since April 2021 with over 25 million views in that time,” the creator, who shares tech product reviews on TikTok, tweeted to Green.

Mr. Beast, who is popular across social media platforms and has a whopping 88.9 million followers and 882.1 million likes on TikTok, also replied. The creator, who shares prank and stunt videos as well as heartwarming videos, often handing out money to the unsuspecting, said he made about $14,910 in about 10 months on the fund.

Mr. Beast has 208 million subscribers on YouTube – more than double his following on TikTok. It is unclear how much he makes off that platform in one year, but Forbes listed Mr. Beast as its top content creator in 2023 and said he has earned $82 million through his YouTube channel and other business ventures.

As it phases out the Creator Fund, TikTok has launched a new offering. “The Creativity Program was developed based on the learnings and feedback we’ve gained from the previous Creator Fund,” a spokesperson for TikTok said in a statement to CBS News. “As we continue developing new ways to reward creators and enrich the TikTok experience, we value the feedback and direct insights from our community to help inform our decisions.”

The original Creator Fund will no longer be available to creators in the U.S., UK., Germany and France starting on Dec. 16, 2023, the spokesperson confirmed to CBS News via email. All creators currently enrolled in the Creator Fund can move to the new program.

The company says the new program, which is still in its beta phase according to TikTok’s website, will allow creators to earn up to 20 times more than they did on the Creator Fund. Any users 18 and older with at least 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days are eligible to sign up for the program in the app.

TikTok says the best format for posting content is sharing videos that are more than one minute long, in combination with short-form content. TikTok users spend 50% of their time on the app watching videos that are more than a minute long, they say. Users can upload videos up to 30 minutes long or film videos in the app that are up to 10 minutes long.

Creators in the app with large followings can also make money through brand partnerships – being paid by companies to post ads and promote products. Some successful creators who become well-known personalities even ink representation deals with talent agencies. Others can use the platform to promote their own businesses – like podcasts, comedy shows or online stores. CBS

9yrs behind bars for selling pangolin

By A Correspondent- Tawanda Kakora of Nyamaropa Village in Mt Darwin will spend the next nine years in jail after he was arrested while trying to sell a live pangolin.

Kakora (34) of Nyamaradzo Village under Chief Nembire was sentenced to a mandatory nine-year jail term after being convicted on charges of possession or selling a live pangolin.

In passing sentence, Bindura magistrate Mrs Nomgugu Sibanda said there were no special circumstances warranting the court to be lenient.

The prosecutor, Mr Carson Kundiona proved that on September 30, detectives from CID Bindura received information that Kakora was in possession of a live pangolin.

Masquerading as potential buyers, the detectives communicated with Kakora and they arranged to meet in Centenary.

Kakora pegged his price at US$5000 for the pangolin.

He then led the detectives to his residence where he brought out the live pangolin from one of his rooms.

Meanwhile, Douglas Chikandiwa (36) from Mbizo, Kwekwe is appearing at the same court on similar charges.

The prosecutor, Mrs Carol Mupazviriwo alleges that on October 14, Chikandiwa was arrested at Blue Ridge in Mazowe looking for prospective buyers of a live pangolin. The Herald

CCC continues “pushing” for SADC intervention in Zim crisis

By A Correspondent- The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says it will continue to exert pressure on the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) to address the ongoing election impasse in the country, after the bloc took note of its observer mission’s adverse report.

Sadc chair and President of Angola, João Lourenço this week congratulated the country for holding ‘peaceful’ polls despite the preliminary post-poll report by Sadc Observer Mission noting that they did not meet regional standards of a free and fair election.

The political situation in Zimbabwe has been further heightened by the recalls of 15 CCC Members of Parliament by Sengezo Tshabangu, who is claiming to be the party’s interim secretary-general.

Tshabangu is accused by CCC leadership of working with the ruling Zanu PF, and some disgruntled senior members of the opposition party.

High Court judge Justice Munacho Mutevedzi has since upheld the recall of CCC MPs.

CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi told the Independent that the party will continue to mobilise for “the restoration of legitimacy” in the country.

“We press on Sadc, which still has Zimbabwe on the agenda. We continue to mobilise for the restoration of legitimacy in Zimbabwe and for the return to constitutionality, rule of law, and order,” Mkwananzi said.

Legal expert Sharon Hofisi said the opposition needed to address the issue of Mnangagwa’s presidency using the current Sadc channels.

“CCC needs to address the issue of Mnangagwa’s inauguration and current presidency in simple terms to the general public,” Hofisi said.

“They (Zanu PF) might argue that the election was legitimate or that the irregularities were not significant enough to warrant a re-election (something they did not do, of course, during the hearing and might not have done). This could lead to political and legal disputes.

“The opposition CCC and its leader can refer to the Sadc Treaty and other relevant regional agreements and laws, which are hard laws that could bind the Zimbabwean government as contemplated by the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

“In particular, the Protocol on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation within Article 6 of the Sadc treaty outlines principles for democratic elections where Sadc institutions should be allowed to make their decisions, which could be cited to support their stronger case for a re-election,” Hofisi added.

He said critical points were Article 32 of the African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections, and Governance, as read with Article 52 of the same charter, which gives national and regional institutions the right to ensure multiparty political governance and free, credible, and fair elections.

Hofisi said in the event of resistance from Zanu PF, the CCC has recourse in other fora.

He said the Sadc extraordinary summit findings could be significant under international and regional law.

According to Hofisi, Sadc, like other regional organisations, has a role in promoting and upholding democratic norms.

The findings could be seen as reinforcing these norms, which are also reflected in international agreements, such as the African Charter on Democracy, Elections, and Governance.

The August 23 and 24 vote was the second election in Zimbabwe since long-time leader Robert Mugabe was deposed by the military in 2017.

Political analysts are, however, predicting a gloomy future for CCC if it fails to address its current internal troubles.

Before the dramatic political developments, analysts had already warned that the CCC was in danger of falling into Zanu PF’s trap.

Political analyst Eldred Masunungure said the CCC faced a real existential threat that could easily be counteracted by an astute leadership doing the right thing.

“The brutal reality is that the presently structureless CCC faces a real existential threat, but such a threat can easily be counteracted by an astute leadership doing the only right and prudent thing,” Masunungure said.

“Let its candidates, preferably the same MPs that had been redeployed to Parliament, register at the nomination court while simultaneously fortifying their positions through the regularisation of the political formation. Any other route is a cul-de-sac (course or route leading nowhere).

“The next credible destination for Nelson Chamisa and his party should be an emergency party congress. An emergency congress is not ideal under normal political conditions, but then the CCC is not operating in normal conditions.”

Masunungure said the CCC was facing extraordinary circumstances that, if mishandled, could easily culminate in the demise of the political formation.

Another political analyst, Rejoice Ngwenya said Chamisa and his CCC party needed to confront the ruling party and work out a new arrangement.

“What I believe is Nelson Chamisa and his team need to confront the regime directly. Burning tyres is old school; that to me, does not work,” he said.

“They need to bring the government to the table as an institution and give them an ultimatum. They should tell the ruling party that the reports were conclusive, therefore, the right thing must be done,” he said.

Tshabangu this week threatened legal action against recalled Chamisa-led CCC members, who successfully filed nomination papers ahead of the December 9 by-election, stating that they acted against the High Court ruling.

Both Chamisa and Tshabangu fielded candidates for the by-elections in constituencies including Nketa, Bulawayo South, Cowdry Park, Lobengula-Magwegwe, Beitbridge West and Mzilikazi-Mpopoma. Zimbabwe Independent

“Upgrade to continue juicing up prepaid meters”: ZESA

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA), has announced that all prepaid meters will need to be upgraded to continue accepting tokens.

In a statement, the power utility stated that this process will be carried out in stages, starting from one area and then moving to the next. Read the statement:

Your Prepaid meter will require an upgrade

All prepaid meters will require upgrading in order for them to continue accepting tokens. Therefore all customers will be required to uprade their prepaid meters.

The exercise will be done in phases from one area to another and schedules will be communicated in due course.

To upgrade your meter, you will receive 3 sets of tokens when you purchase electricity. Upgrading is done by entering all the three sets of tokens in the order they are provided.

Make the smart move today.

The announcement about upgrading prepaid meters has received different responses. Some people question why it needs to be done in phases and suggest doing it when customers purchase tokens. Others express concerns about the need to prioritise power generation. Some individuals request that the upgrade process consider physical addresses for token distribution, as some homeowners have not updated their information. Others ask if there are alternative ways to upgrade, as they are often not at home. Some individuals express disappointment with the power utility’s service delivery and its handling of faults.

ZESA prepaid meters were introduced in the early 2000s in Zimbabwe. With these meters, customers can buy tokens and load them onto the meter to pay for electricity in advance. This system was put in place to improve billing accuracy and collect payments more efficiently. The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has announced the conditions governing the temporary importation of visitors’ vehicles.

In a statement, the authority said visitors to Zimbabwe bringing in a foreign registered private vehicle may be issued with a Temporary Import Permit (TIP) by ZIMRA upon entry into Zimbabwe. Read the statement:

Who is a visitor?

A visitor is any person who is not resident in Zimbabwe but travels to Zimbabwe for a specified period from their arrival. This includes Zimbabweans working or living in other countries and with valid residence or work permits of the respective countries.

Types of vehicles eligible for Temporary Import Permit (TIP)

• Passenger-type motor vehicles commonly known as saloon cars or sedans and station wagons

• Goods carrying motor- vehicles with a gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5 tonnes such as pick-ups and double cabs

• Passenger carrying motor vehicles with a seating capacity not exceeding 15 people including the driver

• Trailers and caravans pulled by the above vehicles.

Any other vehicles which do not fit the above descriptions, for example a passenger carrying vehicle with seating capacity exceeding 15 people, would require a Commercial Temporary Import Permit (CTIP) covered by a Commercial Vehicle Guarantee obtainable from a Zimbabwean registered clearing agent with the relevant bond.

Conditions Governing the TIP

The vehicle should be for the personal use of the visitor

The driver should undertake to remove the vehicle from Zimbabwe at the expiry of the TIP or at the time they leave Zimbabwe, whichever occurs first

No visitor shall sell, offer, or display for sale, lease, hire, lend, pledge or dispose of the vehicle in any other manner to any resident in Zimbabwe without prior written authority of the Commissioner General of ZIMRA and payment of full duty applicable at the time the vehicle was imported into Zimbabwe

In the event of extended stay of the visitor, the TIP holder should approach the nearest ZIMRA office for extension of the TIP upon payment of Carbon Tax and insurance.

In the case of a breakdown or an accident, the holder of the TIP should report to the nearest ZIMRA office immediately over and above making a report to the Police.

Points to Note

• Drivers of the foreign registered vehicles should read and understand the declaration and undertaking at the bottom of the TIP before signing it and ensure all details entered are true and correct.

• Post-clearance checks may be done at any given time by ZIMRA Officials to check on compliance. These can be in the form of roadblocks and patrols.

• Any breach of the conditions governing the temporary importation of visitors’ vehicles will result in the vehicle being liable to seizure

• Beware of touts, seek the assistance of ZIMRA Officers at the points of entry. Pindula

“ZEC owes us election money”: Civil servants

Some civil servants who worked as election officers during the August 23 elections claim the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) still owes them money for services rendered.

The affected civil servants claimed ZEC only paid them 80 percent of what they were owed for their role in overseeing Zimbabwe’s elections.

Although ZEC is responsible for overseeing Zimbabwe’s elections, the commission usually outsources services or hires officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education including and other government agencies.

The disgruntled civil servants told CITE on condition of anonymity that their payments are uncertain because it is unclear how much they should receive.

“Presiding officers received their remaining balance of US$360 when initially they were paid US$320. We were told that only 20 percent is remaining, but to our surprise, the presiding officers received more than 20 percent so it is not clear how much we are supposed to be paid,” said one of the concerned teachers.

The civil servants noted that it was possible that ZEC would hire some of them to participate in the pending December 9 by-elections, following the Nomination Courts that sat in areas where MPs and councillors were recalled.

“We know colleagues in these affected areas will actively participate but we have not received all of our money for services provided in August,” civil servants said.

Contacted for comment, ZEC Chief Elections Officer (CEO), Utloile Silaigwana questioned why the affected individuals chose to go to the media rather than coming to their offices if they had genuine concerns.

“ I am not aware because they did not come to me claiming they were not paid and second, we have clear channels of communication where we communicate,” Silaigwana said claiming some of the sources could be peddling falsehoods.

“How do I know these people are genuine? What if these people just want to tarnish the image of ZEC? We normally engage people who are employed by the government and they know exactly that if they have issues they do not run to the press but inquire at our offices. Civil servants do not act like that.

Silaigwana claimed that the commission had not received any complaints from the affected workers.

“We always communicate with civil servants every time and those who we hired know the amount they should be paid. I cannot respond fully because I do not have enough information on who these people are. By right, we have to know the station they were deployed in and their EC numbers so that we can check. What if it’s someone from the streets who wants to tarnish ZEC’s image? How do I know?”

Silaigwana said ZEC had official lines of communication that were open to its staff they hired for elections and the same procedures would apply going into the December 9 by-election.

“The Public Service Commission will give us workers that we will be working with and those that we worked with before were paid because we communicate with them directly, not through the media,” he said. CITE

“Hwindi” falls from moving bus. Dies

By A Correspondent- A 35 year old bus loader from Inyathi in Bubi district died after falling from the carrier of a moving bus.

Police confirmed the incident, which occurred on Sunday.

The bus loader, Trust Moyo, was working for Dubbies Bus Services, and the bus was travelling along the Lubu-Kariangwe road from Bulawayo to Muchesu in Binga.

Police said that Moyo was occasionally going onto the bus carrier to offload passengers’ luggage at respective bus stops. He then decided to remain on top of the bus, and as they approached Chilelema Business Centre, the conductor heard the sound of a falling object from the top of the bus.

Upon checking after the bus stopped, they discovered that Moyo had fallen off and his body was lifeless on the road. He sustained head injuries as a result of the fall.

The bus was taken to Kariyangwe police base en route to the Vehicle Inspection Department, while Moyo’s body was ferried to Binga District Mortuary.

This is not the first time that Dubbies Bus has come into the spotlight for safety concerns. Earlier this year, villagers in Binga sought intervention from authorities to caution the bus crew, as the bus was reportedly putting people’s lives in danger because of excessive speeding. CITE

Water shortages haunt Byo

Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has noted that the persistent water shortages in the city have led to an increase in the number of diarrhoea cases recorded to date.

According to the latest council minutes, the month of September recorded over a thousand cases compared to two hundred in August.

The council’s health inspectorate report attributed the increase in diarrhoea cases to the shift in the water-shedding schedule from 48 hours to 72 hours a week. This has forced residents to resort to alternative water sources, which may be unsafe for drinking.

“The increase in Diarrhoea cases (1120) reported in September 2023 compared to the previous month (206) followed the routine implementation of water rationing measures (48-to-72-hour water shedding schedule) that resulted in communities resorting to alternative water sources which might be of unsafe quality. Some of these risk factors included low-risk perception, water scarcity, alternative water sources, poor personal hygiene, overcrowding, sewer chokes, malnutrition, and dumping of waste, among others,” the report reads.

The report also highlighted that mumps cases were more prevalent in 2023 than in 2022, with the highest number being recorded in the Emakhandeni district. However, there were no deaths recorded from the disease and the recovery rate was 96.6%.

The council noted that as a mitigation measure, it is important for residents to get vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). One dose of MMR vaccine is 93% effective against measles, 78% effective against mumps, and 97% effective against rubella. Two doses of MMR vaccine are 97% effective against measles and 88% effective against mumps.

The council also reported a decrease in acute malnutrition cases in September 2023, with only six cases reported compared to 18 in August. There were also no malaria cases reported in September 2023. However, there was an increase in dog bite cases, with 39 cases reported in September 2023 compared to 24 in August.

The council urged residents to take precautions to protect themselves from waterborne diseases and other health risks. This includes boiling water before drinking it, washing hands frequently, and getting vaccinated against preventable diseases. CITE

ZANU PF Rushes To Supply Branded ZANU Water to Namibia Govt Ahead Of Chamisa Negotiations

-ZANU PF Supplies Branded ZANU Water to SWAPO Party Meetings Amid Upcoming Mediation Talks Over Zimbabwe’s 2023 Elections.

ZANU bottled water

By Dorrothy Moyo | The ruling ZANU PF party in Zimbabwe has provided branded bottles of ZANU water to Namibia’s SWAPO party meetings, just days before the scheduled visit of the SWAPO president to mediate over the disputed 2023 elections in Zimbabwe.

The controversial donation of ZANU-branded water bottles was made in support of the SWAPO National rally held in Windhoek on Saturday. This move has raised concerns of a conflict of interest, especially given the upcoming visit of the SWAPO president as part of the subcommittee set to engage in negotiation talks with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and opposition leader, Chamisa.

The provision of ZANU branded water by the ruling Zimbabwean party to their Namibian counterparts has drawn attention to potential biases in the upcoming discussions. The act comes at a delicate time, with both internal and international stakeholders closely monitoring the mediation process in an attempt to resolve the electoral dispute in Zimbabwe.

Observers and critics alike have voiced concerns regarding the optics of such a gesture, indicating a possible influence on the visiting delegation from Namibia and raising questions about the neutrality and fairness of the negotiation process.

The donation of ZANU water bottles to the SWAPO party, occurring just ahead of the scheduled high-level talks, has added another layer of complexity and speculation to an already sensitive and crucial period in Zimbabwean politics.

As the 19th approaches, when the high-level delegation is expected to engage in discussions in Zimbabwe, the implications and impact of this seemingly innocuous donation of water bottles are being intensely debated, shaping the narrative and environment surrounding the forthcoming talks.

The Zimbabwean government and ZANU PF have yet to comment on the implications and concerns raised by this action, leaving room for further speculation and analysis within the political landscape of both countries.

ZEC to allow only 3 election agents per party in by elections

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has announced that only three election agents representing each political party will be allowed at polling stations for the December by-elections.

In a general notice, ZEC Chairperson Justice Prisca Chigumba said that one agent shall be present in the polling station, while the other two will be within the vicinity of the polling station.

The country is set to hold by-elections in December following the recalls made by Sengezo Tshabangu who claims to be Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) secretary general and the deaths of some representatives.

“It is hereby notified, in terms of section 95(5) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that for the purposes of the 9 December 2023, By-elections, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has prescribed that in relation to candidates nominated by political parties, only three election agents representing each political party may be present within or in the immediate vicinity of each polling station,” said Justice Chigumba.

“And for that purpose any references to the chief election agent of the candidate making the appointments and notifications of election agents referred to in section 95(1) of the Act shall be substituted by references to the political party of the candidates competing in the elections concerned.” CITE

If I tell truth about what Chamisa knows of rigged 2023, “there will be an earthquake,” claimed Chin’ono. How naive!

By Wilbert Mukori| If I tell the truth about how the election was lost there would be an earthquake in Zimbabwe,” claimed Hopewell Chin’ono in one of his comments on X.

“Nelson Chamisa knows what happened, he knows how he was misled, he knows who misled him, he knows that he should never do it again.

“I will leave it there, one day you too will know.

“He was played by the system!”

For a start Chamisa was not “played by the system” because he and his fellow MDC/CCC friends knew exactly what was happening. After 23 years on the political stage they could have changed the system if they wanted to but have done nothing and are, per se, part and parcel of the system.

Chin’ono has made one basic and yet unfounded assumption, that if told the truth, people will comprehend it. There will be no earthquake in Zimbabwe even if he told the whole truth of how Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections with the active co-operation of the opposition because the people must NOT comprehend the truth.

If there was ever going to be an earthquake in Zimbabwe, it would have happened in 2013 when it was clear MDC leaders had sold out big time by failing to to implement even one token reform during the five years of the GNU. When SADC leaders gave Tsvangirai and company a chance to redeem themselves by advising them not to take part in the 2013 elections without reforms; the MDC rejected the advice out of greed.

There was no earthquake in 2013 when Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections and reimposed the dictatorship the GNU was supposed to end because most Zimbabweans had no clue what the reforms were much less that the primary purpose of the GNU was to implement the reforms and MDC leaders had sold out.

MDC/CCC leaders have been participating in flawed elections ever since the failed GNU knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging the elections and that participating would only give the process legitimacy or “credibility” As David Coltart called it.

Both Tendai Biti and David Coltart have told the people of Zimbabwe the truth about how the opposition has been participating in these flawed elections out of greed.

“Look, you can’t keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimising these sham elections which don’t deliver.

“This country will go through a serious economic crisis in 2020 caused by Zanu PF. And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn’t perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.

“So you can’t continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

Coltart went one step more and confessed that the opposition has been participating in the flawed elections out of greed.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, , The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

There is nothing new you, Hopewell Chin’ono, can tell Zimbabweans on what happened in these 2023 elections that the people did not already know. After all these flawed elections are just a repeat of the past rigged elections. Same s****t different year!

Zimbabweans did not revolt against MDC when Tendai Biti, David Coltart and many, many others told them of how MDC leaders had sold out big time by failing to implement reforms and by participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the nation’s suffering.

They heard the truth but failed to comprehend what it meant much less that their suffering would have been avoided if MDC leaders had not sold out. The heard it, it came in one ear and out the other without even leaving a foot-print!

There has not been and there will be no earthquake in protest against MDC/CCC leaders selling out because the people are blissfully unaware of the treasonous betrayals.

“In knowing nothing, life is most delightful” (In nil sapiendo vita iucundissima est), said Publilius Syrus, Latin writer. Of course, Syrus was write, given Zimbabweans are contend in their miserables lives and there would be an earthquake if only they knew the men and women they have risked life and limb to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and the ones keeping Zanu PF in power!

Ignorance is Zimbabwe’s greatest curse! As long as our people remain ignorant, nothing of substance will ever change. Nothing!

Tshabangu: High Court Judge Says I’m Not An EDbaby, I’m Ndebele

  • In the over 30 min interview, Mr Tshabangu sounded totally cornered when he ended up engaging the services of a lawyer to made ordinary media responses on his behalf.

By A Correspondent | The politician behind disturbing recall letters recently sent to parliament, Mr Sengezo Tshabangu has refuted allegations that he is Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, as per a recent Zambian report that makes this allegation.

Speaking to ZimEye on Saturday, a man identifying himself as Mr Tshabangu’s lawyer who answeed his phone said, there is a High Court case where the issue of his paternity is discussed, and he referred our news desk to the case.

ZimEye requested the reference numbers and we were told it will be supplied on Monday.

“Well, I will find out on Monday,” he said.

Our reporter then asked for a DNA test of Tshabangu to prove he is not a Mnangagwa son. To this, his lawyer, put the phone down just after saying, “aaah chief, whats the problem here? Is it about CCC or about the …..(sic). You know what? You are over driven by anger, let this thing be dealt by the court, right? You make an assessment, if there are issues you want to find out m, we will always assist, that’s how clear we are, but if you then want to take things so personal, you lose the gist of the matter.

” My advice to you is me and you should not be emotional about this. That’s my advice my brother,” he said, in passing.

ZimEye who spent over 30 minutes with the same lawyer, while Tshabangu was at the side issuing instructions queried why it is that Mr Tshabangu cannot talk any more on his own; is he cornered or what?

“You have lost rationality, you have lost rationality as a journalist, don’t be emotional about issues, right?, the man said.

“You should not be persuaded by what you think, find the truth, that’s the purpose of a journalist,” he said.

In the over 30 min interview, Mr Tshabangu sounded totally cornered when he ended up engaging the services of a lawyer to made ordinary media responses on his behalf.

He was asked on what he is going to do now that he has been classified as an imposter in an Inter Parliamentary Union report, and he said he is relying onnthe outcome of an upcoming court case. – ZimEye

Biti: maybe you are innocent of Tshabangu recalls but guilty of selling out on reforms

By Wilbert Mukori- Tendai Biti has come out fighting to clear his name!

“Zimbabwe is at a crossroads. The weight of a stolen election, unprecedented corruption and the looting of public assets sits heavy on the shoulders of Zimbabweans who want and deserve better,” he wrote in a recent statement in the media.

“The environment in the world right now is toxic. The wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have pushed Zimbabwe to the bottom of the world’s attention calendar. This has allowed the vampire state here to carry out brazen election fraud. Not satisfied, the regime is now engaged in a malicious push to weaken our struggle, the progressive movement, through the illegal recall of elected public representatives.

“It is therefore shocking to hear, and read, a daily stream of abusive, malicious and defamatory claims that Professor Welshman Ncube and I are colluding with the regime and its proxies to append a struggle that has occupied and consumed all our adult lives.

“I don’t believe in recalls. I have never been part of recalls. I will never be part of recalls.”

Well in the absence of any other evidence to prove his connivence with Sengezo Tshabangu. I would give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is not involved.

Tendai Biti should have stopped right there with, “I will never be part of recalls.” Alas! he got big headed in claiming he is a democrat who has never worked for Zanu PF.

“I am a democrat who believes in constitutionalism, the rule of law, transparency, openness and collective leadership. I can never compromise on these core values. No dispute nor differences is ever sufficient to place one at the service of Zanu-PF,” continued Biti.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, all this chatter and actions by the illegitimate regime and its proxies are an engineered distraction from the main prize: to free ourselves from this rapacious dictatorship.

“It has been a long and tortuous road; and victory is closer than the distance

back to where we started.”

The truth is the fight to implement the democratic reforms to restore all the people’s freedoms and rights including the right to free, fair and credible elections and the right to life has lost direction during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and thereafter.

Lest Mr Biti and his MDC/CCC colleagues should forget; the people of Zimbabwe have risked all from the wrath of Zanu PF to elect them into power for one primary purpose: to bring about the democratic changes, reforms, the nation was dying for. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, Tendai Biti and company have failed to implement even one token reform. Not even one!

It is no secret that the late dictator, Robert Mugabe, bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office, the ministerial limos (Mr Biti was Minister of Finance in the GNU), the very generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc. To show their appreciation the MDC leaders kicked the reforms out of the window.

Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life; they will never rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing any reforms during the GNU.

Worse still, MDC/CCC have been participating in the flawed elections knowing fully well Zanu PF was rigging and that doing so would only help to give Zanu PF legitimacy. Mr Biti and a few other MDC leaders like David Coltart were aware of the sheer futility of participating in these flawed elections.

And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn’t perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament,” you, Tendai Biti, told Isaac Mugabi in an interview in 2015.

“So you can’t continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

No doubt, you tried to talk your fellow MDC leaders into stop participating in flawed elections. When your arguments fell on deaf ears, you decided to join them for your share of the few gravy train seats Zanu PF was offering as bait.

You knew participating crushed the nation’s hopes for democratic change, to end the curse of rigging elections, for good governance and, most notable of all, hope to end the tragic human suffering  brought on by the failed state. You knew all this and did not care as long as you secure for yourself one of the coveted gravy train seats.

How can you say you are a democrat when you have failed to implement even one token democratic reform to dismantle the dictatorship even when you have the golden opportunity to do so during the 2008 to 2013 GNU?

You say you have never working for Zanu PF. So whose interests do you think you served by selling out on reforms and by participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. And what, if I may ask, do you think Zanu PF has been showering you and your MDC/CCC friends all these bribes for?

Of course, you, Mr Tendai Biti, knew that CCC was not going to win big the 2023 elections. Chamisa’s claim of having plugged all the vote rigging loop-hole was just hot air to hide the real reasons why you lot were participating – greed and breath-taking incompetence.

“I am a democrat who has never sold out the struggle to Zanu-PF!” It is bad enough you are a sell out and has never owned up for your treasonous betrayals. Don’t dare insult our intelligence by masquerading a principled democrat, when you are clearly not!

Mr Tendai Biti, you may have nothing to do with Sengezo Tshabangu and the string of CCC elected officials who have been recalled since the August 2023 elections. However, don’t deceive the nation; you are not a democrat and have sold out to Zanu PF by failing to implement the democratic change.

I rest my case!

“Effect sweeping changes to curb abductions”

The ongoing  abduction of innocent citizens by suspected members of the Central Intelligence organisation CIO is now alarming and denting the already battered image of the country.

If the abductors are indeed members of the  internal branch  then there is an urgent need for sweeping changes or complete overhaul of the CIO leadership unless if the Office of the President and cabinet OPC  issues a convincing statement.

The arbitrary abductions have to a larger extend exposed  the entire intelligence system in Zimbabwe.

This is a very sad chapter in the history

Of Zimbabwe where the citizens are leaving in fear of their own guards

Mr President sir,we are feeling insecure in an environment where our security agents are caught on the wrong side of the law.

Our lives are not in safe hands Mr President sir and failure to fire unprofessional operatives will continue to compromise the security of the state.

It is my sincere appeal to the Head of state to stop the brutal attacks of the citizens unless if it is a package of the government’s vision 2030.

Stop the unprofessional brutal attacks on citizens today.

The Southern African Development Community Sadc extra ordinary summit on the 4th of November 2023 should debate and reprimand the Zimbabwe leadership if it is to restore sanity and build  an nclusive Zimbabwe..

The country is leaving in fear and the presidium should quickly act on these serious human rights violations.

We are now gravely concerned with the injection of  unknown substances into the victims’ bodies by the abductors. Please explain to us the substances injected into the victims’ by the security agents.

We are now leaving in fear of our state security agents.

President Mnangagwa must stop the unprofessional contact on the struggling and powerless citizens.

Govt Buys Non Existent Cancer Machines

Zimbabwean Government Offloads Half the Money Given to Convicted Money Launderer Wicknell Chivayo to Purchase Non-existent Radiation Machines

The Zimbabwean government has offloaded half the money it gave to convicted money launderer Wicknell Chivayo to purchase non-existent radiation machines. Chivayo was initially given US$2.5 million to purchase the machines, but the government has since paid out only US$1.25 million.

The government claims that the machines have been purchased and will soon be installed at two major public hospitals. However, there is no evidence to support this claim, and the machines have yet to be delivered.

The state media has reported that Treasury recently spent US$2.4 million to acquire cutting-edge radiotherapy machines for Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and Mpilo Central Hospital. However, these machines have also not yet been delivered.

The government is also planning to acquire Gamma Knife machines for the two hospitals. These are stereotactic radiosurgery devices that use gamma radiation beams in intricate procedures to treat tumours in brains, spinal cords and sensitive body parts. An additional US$2.3 million has been released by Treasury to fund the repair of five radiotherapy machines — three at Parirenyatwa and two at Mpilo.

The government’s decision to offload half the money given to Chivayo raises serious questions about its commitment to fighting corruption. It is also concerning that the government is willing to spend millions of dollars on non-existent medical equipment.

The Zimbabwean people deserve to know how their money is being spent. The government must come clean about what happened to the US$1.25 million that was given to Chivayo. It must also provide evidence to support its claims that the radiation machines have been purchased and will soon be delivered.

The government’s handling of this matter is a betrayal of the Zimbabwean people. It is time for the government to be held accountable.- state media

Mthuli Ncube Loses Control Of Key Agency Within Finance Ministry

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has clipped Finance minister Mthuli Ncube’s wings by removing the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA) Act from his ministry.

This comes amid fears that Mnangagwa is planning to move ZIDA to his office as part of efforts to consolidate power and ensure he has total control of the country’s key economic pillars. The President, using his special Presidential powers, recently created the controversial Mutapa Investment Fund which houses over 20 State enterprises and insulated it against public scrutiny.

In a statutory instrument 224 of 2023, Mnangagwa said that ZIDA Act was no longer under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

“The assignment of functions of Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion notice 2018 published in Statutory Instrument 197 of 2023 is amended by deletion of the following in the schedule thereto: Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency Act,” read the statutory instrument.

Under the Act, Ncube was responsible for promoting, planning and implementing investment promotion strategies for the purpose of encouraging investment by domestic and foreign investors.

He was in charge of promoting the decentralisation of investment activities and to implement and co-ordinate investment programmes.

The Finance minister was also in charge of facilitating entry and implementation of investment projects.

Mthuli was to work with interested stakeholders in using modern communications methods to promote Zimbabwe as an attractive investment destination and to facilitate, across all sectors of the economy, dialogue and other consultations between the public and private sectors to improve the investment climate for domestic and foreign investment.

He was also responsible for establishing and regulating Special Economic Zones, appraising and recommending for the approval of public private partnerships with the State to the Cabinet.

He was also to deliver investor aftercare services, including but not limited to post-establishment facilitation services that support investment retention and expansion.

Economic analyst Mike Vareta said the removal of the ZIDA Act will give Mnangagwa more power to strike the country’s deals in secrecy.

“The removal of the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency Act from the purview of the Finance Minister is a sign that the government is becoming more secretive and less transparent. This is a worrying development, as it will make it more difficult for investors to understand and navigate the Zimbabwean investment landscape,” he said.

“The government should focus on creating a more conducive environment for investment, rather than making it more difficult for businesses to operate. This includes improving the infrastructure, reducing corruption, and creating a level playing field for all businesses,” he added.

Political analyst Romeo Chasara said the removal of the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency Act from the purview of the Finance minister is a negative development that will make it more difficult for investors to operate in Zimbabwe.

“The government has claimed that this move is necessary to improve the efficiency of the investment promotion process. However, it is more likely that it is an attempt to further centralise power in the hands of the President. This will make it more difficult for the private sector to operate and will stifle economic growth,” he said.

Former Zim Ambassador Accused Of Deceiving Women Before Defrauding Them Of US$193k

Shamiso Fred, Zimbabwe’s former honorary consul to the United Arab Emirates, recently appeared in the Harare Magistrates Court on charges of defrauding a group of women.

Fred, along with her organisation, the African Business Woman Association (ABWA), is accused of deceiving the women into investing a total of US$193,000.

According to the state’s case, Fred allegedly advertised on various social media platforms, inviting clients to invest in ABWA.

She claimed that the organisation specialised in egg production and dairy farming, NewsDay reported.

Prospective investors were required to pay a non-refundable joining fee of USD$39 and invest varying amounts of money depending on the project.

Those interested in the egg production business had to invest US$1,000, while those interested in the dairy farming project had to invest US$2,000.

In return, they were promised monthly profits of US$250 for egg production and US$450 for the dairy project.

It is alleged that 16 individuals invested various amounts totalling US$196,553 and £2,072 between December 2020 and October 2022.

However, when their investments matured, only three investors received a total of US$19,005 as their share of the profits.

The remaining investors did not receive any returns on their investments.

The complainants, most of whom reside outside the country, reported the fraudulent activities to the police, leading to Fred’s arrest.

She appeared before Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who granted her bail of US$500.

CCC Demands Tabling Of Damning SADC Election Observer Mission Report In Parly

A Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator has demanded that the Southern Africa Development Committee (SADC) Election Observation Mission (SEOM) report on Zimbabwe’s recent elections be tabled in Parliament.

Speaking on a point of national interest on Thursday, Harare East legislator Rusty Markham requested that the report be brought to the National Assembly for debate by members.

Markham had initially requested an explanation regarding the unavailability of ballot papers on polling day which resulted in urban registered voters in Harare and Bulawayo casting votes as late as 2100hours.

“My point of national interest refers to the meeting that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission had with the international observers on 17th August 2023, before the elections.

“They read out and advertised that sufficient ballot papers had been printed to the extend, on the Presidential ballot papers totaling 7.6% more ballot papers that were required were printed and ready for distribution.

“The same for the National Assembly ballot papers and Madam Speaker, for the local ballot papers, 3.5% ballot papers more than required were submitted in paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) they were ready for the elections come what may,” Markham said.

CCC Harare North legislator Rusty Markham

Markham added, “My request is why the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) was ready 10 days before the election but had an issue with ballot papers on election day?

“For the first time in the history of this country, we ran out of ballot papers during the election, despite Zec telling us they had printed enough.

“How can the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission tell international observers we have 7.6 more and then fail by 1400hrs in the afternoon, rural and urban polling stations had run out of ballot papers?

“I request your ruling on an Independent Commission or a statement from the relevant Hon. Minister to explain what happened.

“Further to this, this issue amongst others were brought up in the SADC which has just recently been adopted. Can that SADC Report be laid on the table of this House so that we can debate it?” Markham queried.

The deputy speaker Tsitsi Gezi had no clear answer to the raised issues.

“I advise you to put that in writing and ask the responsible Hon. Minister so that he will bring a comprehensive copy to this House. At the moment, I cannot answer to your concerns. Put that in writing and ask the Hon. Minister to respond,” Gezi responded.

However, Markham begged Gezi to make a ruling on the SADC Report being laid on the table.

“I cannot rule on the SADC Report. You know very well that I cannot do that,” Gezi responded.

The SADC Heads of State and Government approved the SADC Election Observation Mission (SEOM) report on Zimbabwe’s recent elections last week in Angola during an Extraordinary Summit which was attended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabweans to move past the August election and focus on the development of the nation.

CCC has, however, accused Zanu-PF of blocking the recently held Extraordinary Summit of the SADC Heads of State and Government from discussing the country’s contested elections adding that decisive regional action is urgently needed.

The opposition has also maintained that the August elections were marred by irregularities and did not produce a legitimate outcome.

MDC In Turmoil

Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) workers, who have not been paid over the last eight months for services rendered to the party, have annouced they are taking over Haevest House.

In a statement released this Friday, the workers claimed all their offices countrywide are not resourced, despite the party having received its allocation of funds under the Political Parties (Finances) Act.

“Funds from party investments and properties have been received and abused by individuals at the expense of party activities. The party is also riddled with massive corruption, misappropriation of funds, incompetence, abuse of assets, abuse of trust funds, abuse of office, gross neglect of properties by some members of the MDC National Standing Committee,” claimed the workers.

The statement added, “The state of affairs at MDC is appalling. Rates have not been paid. The elevators at Harvest House have not been working. Party assets are not maintained. There are no accountability meetings. Some of the allegations border on criminal activities warranting investigations by the Party and law enforcement agencies. There is clear cut evidence to substantiate these allegations.”

The workers announced they are taking over Harvest House as lien for non-payment of their dues and the need to redress the existential challenges faced by the party.

“There will be no going back unless our conditions are met. We call upon the bona-fide leadership of the party to perform their duties in terms of the constitution to avoid and resolve this conflict,” the workers said.

Kereke In Trouble Again

RESERVE Bank of Zimbabwe Governor’s former advisor, Munyaradzi Kereke, will spend the weekend behind bars after the Harare Magistrate Court rolled over the bail ruling for his fraud case to Monday.

The State had earlier opposed the accused’s admission to bail, saying there is a possibility of skipping the country’s border.

The state also claimed that Kereke has a case to answer after allegedly defrauding the Harare Municipal Medical Aid Society of more than US$ 130 000.

Allegations are that he is the one who wrote the letter claiming that he was owed US$400 000 by the Medical Aid Society although it later emerged that he had been paid in full.

Meanwhile, the trial of Mighty Warriors head coach Shadreck Mlauzi who is accused of indecent assault, kicked off at Harare Magistrates Court this Friday with the accused denying the charges despite admitting that he admires the complainant.

Circumstances are that on the 26th of September, Mlauzi allegedly indecently assaulted the complainant during the Mighty Warriors’ preparations for the Cosafa Women Championships which was held in South Africa.

Mlauzi also stands accused of repeating the shameful act, while the team was in South Africa before the complainant reported the matter.-ZBC News

DEAD END? – Tshabangu Starts Using A Lawyer To Speak To Journalists

– ZimEye

This thuggish behavior which is associated with Zanu PF indicates their state of panic and desperation.

Tendai Biti: I Don’t Believe in Recalls, I Have Never Been Part Of Recalls | FULL TEXT

Zimbabwe at a crossroads

Zimbabwe is at a crossroads. The weight of a stolen election, unprecedented corruption and the looting of public assets sits heavy on the shoulders of Zimbabweans who want and deserve better.

The environment in the world right now is toxic.

It is therefore shocking to hear, and read, a daily stream of abusive, malicious and defamatory claims that Professor Welshman Ncube and I, are colluding with the regime and its proxies to append a struggle that have occupied and consumed all our adult lives.

I do not speak for Prof Ncube, an honest and decent comrade who buried his dear mother on Friday, but as someone who has been in this struggle for as long as I have, one who has endured Zanu PF’s jails and physical attacks by the same, it is heartbreaking, if not tragic, that many Cdes that have been with us on this journey are now given false labels and badges, Zanu PF wish they had coined first.

I don’t believe in recalls. I have never been part of recalls. I will never be part of recalls.

In my life, I have been recalled twice in 2015 and in 2021 through the pernicious use of section 129(1)(k) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. I know the pain of a recall. My family knows the pain of a recall. The people of Harare East know the pain a recall. With other MPs, such as Temba Mliswa, we unsuccessfully fought for the removal and repeal of section 129(1)(k).

Like most Zimbabweans, I only get to read about the patently illegal recalls by Mr. Tshabangu in the newspapers.

Given what I and my family have given to this struggle, it saddens me that I have to state publicly that I will never be part of a project to weaken the democratic struggle in Zimbabwe. I have been imprisoned and tortured for the change we all seek, and I have stood firm. I have never worked for Zanu PF, and I will die before I lend my hand to the illegitimate Zanu PF regime.

I had hoped to be a Member of Parliament. I have my reservations about the process that prevented this happening. I have my challenges and reservations about our identity, structural, strategic and procedural polity.

I am a democrat who believes in constitutionalism, the rule of law, transparency, openness and collective leadership

I can never compromise on these core values.

However, no dispute nor differences is ever sufficient to place one at the service of Zanu PF.

I have a daily job at my law practice and that’s where I have retreated to fight for Zimbabweans in that sphere of my influence. Additionally, I have progressive international engagements that require my full attention.

Fellow Zimbabweans, all this chatter and actions by the illegitimate regime and its proxies are an engineered distraction from the main prize: to free ourselves from this rapacious dictatorship. It has been a long and tortuous road; and victory is closer than the distance back to where we started.

Extreme Intimidation In Gutu West Bi-Election

Massive Intimidation Reported in Ongoing Gutu West By-Election

*Local Paper Labels Situation as “Highest Level of Intimidation”*

By Dorrothy Moyo | In what’s been described as a shocking display of intimidation, the ongoing Gutu West by-election has been marred by reported incidents of voter suppression, as labeled by local publication, The Mirror. The paper highlighted an alarming scene where more than 20 vehicles branded with the insignia of Zanu PF, the ruling party, have been circling areas, allegedly intimidating voters. The Mirror captured videos showcasing these vehicles, notably parked in close proximity, less than 100 meters from Chiriga Primary School, situated in Ward 6 of Gutu West.

The vehicles, all adorned with the Zanu PF Provincial Youth League branding from various provinces across the nation, have raised concerns about their potential influence on the ongoing by-election process.

*CCC Party Raises Concerns*

In response to these developments, the CCC Party issued a statement addressing the ongoing by-election. They highlighted the background of the election, mentioning that the current by-election, scheduled for 11 November 2023, was a result of the unfortunate passing of one of the initial contestants just days before the scheduled August elections.

The CCC Party raised serious concerns about the integrity of the August elections, citing irregularities that fell short of local, regional, and international electoral standards. Additionally, they alleged that despite reported irregularities and voter suppression, the declared winner by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) did not align with the alleged popular vote. The statement included claims that Mr. Mnangagwa lost to President Nelson Chamisa in the initial election, with ZEC declaring a different outcome based on unverified results.

This statement from the CCC Party also cited the condemnation of the election process by various election observation missions, including bodies such as SADC, AU, and other international entities.

The ongoing situation in Gutu West raises concerns about the fairness and transparency of the electoral process, as the by-election continues amidst these allegations of intimidation and previous irregularities.

Mukupe Sentencing Postponed

High Court judge Justice Benjamin Chikowero has postponed the sentencing of former Finance deputy minister Terrence Mukupe, who was convicted on Tuesday for smuggling 138,979 litres of diesel from Mozambique. The sentencing has been deferred to November 16.

In the aggravation phase, the State, represented by Wishes Mabhaudhi and Lovet Masuku, called Zimra auditor Washington Taringa to explain how the tax authority suffered prejudice due to Mukupe’s actions. Taringa highlighted the impact on Zimra’s targets, which are set by the State to fund essential services like schools and clinics. He also emphasized the creation of unfair competition within the industry and the financial loss incurred by Zimra due to the smuggling of goods.

Mukupe, along with Same Kapisoriso, Joseph Taderera, and Leonard Mudzuto, was convicted for conspiring to unlawfully import diesel without paying duty. The group misrepresented that the diesel was intended for offloading in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but they replaced it with water in Zimbabwe. The State estimates a potential revenue loss of US$55,591. The quartet has been remanded in custody pending sentencing.

War Vets Being Displaced From Farms By Govt Officials

Government officials are being accused by war veterans of corruptly revoking their farm offer letters and displacing them from their allocated land. A central committee report released after the Zanu-PF national conference expressed concern about the mistreatment and dispossession of war veterans who had previously benefited. The report called for the return of the land to the affected individuals, emphasizing their significant contribution to the nation’s economic development.

The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) also raised concerns about the neglect of war veterans’ medical needs, citing injuries and medical complications that were not promptly addressed. The report highlighted the emergence of presumptive medical conditions like post-traumatic stress disorders among aging veterans, indicating the need for referrals and specialist treatment.

Additionally, war veterans lamented the inadequacy of their pension payouts, emphasizing the impact of inflation on the current monthly pensions. The report called for sustainable measures to address the eroded value of the pensions. Furthermore, the lack of funding for funerals and reburials of deceased former freedom fighters was cited, with an appeal for the exemption of duty, tollgate fees, and taxes.

Despite their historically crucial role in Zanu-PF election campaigns, war veterans are raising concerns about their treatment and the fulfillment of promises made by the government. The report serves as a plea for the party and government to honor resolutions and address the various challenges faced by war veterans.

Lawyer Goes On Trial For Undermining Police Authority After Bantering Vendors For Alleged Wrong Voting Choices

By A Correspondent| A Zimbabwe lawyer will stand trial next month after he was arrested and charged with undermining police authority when he allegedly mocked some vendors, who were being rounded up by some police officers, for making wrong choices when they voted during the harmonised elections held in August.

Kenias Shonhai, the Founding and Managing Partner of Shonhai Law Chambers appeared at Harare Magistrates Court on Thursday 9 November 2023 answering to charges undermining police authority as defined in section 177(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Shonhai was arrested by ZRP officers on Wednesday 18 October 2023 in the capital city’s Avenues area, near the offices of his law firm and was detained at Harare Central Police Station before he was released on Thursday 19 October 2023.

On Thursday 9 November 2023, prosecutors told Harare Magistrate Ethel Chichera that Shonhai undermined police authority when he told some vendors that they were now being subjected to arrest by ZRP officers because they had failed to heed his advice to vote wisely during the harmonised elections held in August.

The prosecutors claimed that Shonhai, who is represented by Paidamoyo Saurombe of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, encouraged ZRP officers to arrest the vendors because they had made some wrong choices when they voted.

Prosecutors charged that Shonhai’s alleged utterances were intended to engender feelings of hostility towards ZRP officers and exposing them to contempt, ridicule or low esteem.

The legal practitioner returns to court on 5 December 2023 when his trial is scheduled to commence.

Shonhai becomes the latest legal practitioner to be prosecuted after ZRP officers arrested human rights lawyers Tapiwa Muchineripi and Doug Coltart at a Harare hospital on 4 September 2023 and charged them with defeating or obstructing the course of justice as defined in section 184 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, when they reportedly objected to have their clients, who were victims of abduction and torture, quizzed by law enforcement agents.

VP Chiwenga Cruelly Smiling At UN Children’s Rep

The Rights of Children According to International Law and the Hypocrisy of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Constantino Chiwenga with UNICEF Rep

By Dorrothy Moyo | The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in the world, and it guarantees children a wide range of rights, including the right to life, survival, and development; the right to protection from violence, abuse, and neglect; and the right to education, healthcare, and a standard of living adequate for their physical, mental, spiritual, moral, and social development.

The CRC also recognizes the child’s right to have a relationship with both parents. Article 9(3) of the CRC states that “States Parties shall respect the right of the child who is separated from one or both parents to maintain personal relations and direct contact with both parents on a regular basis.”

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s actions in denying his own children access to their mother for more than three years are therefore in clear violation of international law.

Chiwenga’s hypocrisy is even more glaring given that he is a senior government official in a country that has ratified the CRC. He is also the Vice President of a country that is currently celebrating International Children’s Day.

How can Chiwenga smile and shake hands with the United Representative for Children while he is simultaneously denying his own children their basic human rights?

-The Impact of Chiwenga’s Actions on His Children.

Chiwenga’s actions have had a devastating impact on his children. They have been deprived of the love and support of their mother for more than three years. They have also been denied access to essential medical and psychological care.

As a result of their separation from their mother, Chiwenga’s children are reportedly suffering from serious mental health challenges. They are also struggling academically and socially.

Chiwenga’s actions are a form of child abuse. He is using his power and position to hurt and punish his own children.

**What Can Be Done?**

Chiwenga’s actions must be condemned by the international community. Pressure must be put on the Zimbabwean government to ensure that Chiwenga is held accountable for his violations of international law.

Chiwenga’s children should also be given immediate access to their mother and to essential medical and psychological care.

The international community must also work to ensure that all children in Zimbabwe are able to enjoy their full human rights, regardless of their parents’ wealth or status.

Show Commitment, Peter Ndlovu Challenges Warriors

Peter Ndlovu has urged the Warriors players selected for duty this month to commit to the national badge.

Zimbabwe will play their first competitive game since returning from the FIFA ban when they face Rwanda on 15 November in the World Cup Qualifiers Group C opener. The team will then host Nigeria four days later on matchday 2.

Ndlovu, the Warriors’ all-time top goal-scorer, believes commitment will be the key to the team’s success.

The former skipper told the ZIFA media department: “Think of the badge. Commitment is key.

“We want the boys to perform well and re-introduce themselves onto the international football scene.”

Ndlovu’s words comes after the Warriors technical team gave a couple of youngsters their first call-ups to the team.

The new faces include Liverpool Academy star Isaac Mabaya, Brentford goalkeeper Marley Tavaziva and Wolves forward Leon Chiwome.

Leicester City forward Tawanda Maswanhise, who committed to play for Zimbabwe last year and once called but didn’t show up, was also included in the squad.

Reading youngster and former Wales youth international Tivonge Rushesha and Cardiff City midfielder Andy Rinomhota received the call-ups again after getting their first a couple of years ago.-Soccer24 News

Khayah Cement Restores Operations, Calls Cement Dealers to Order Over Price Madness

By A Correspondent| Giant cement producer, Khayah Cement has announcement the resumption of operations following the restoration of its mill at its Mabvuku plant.

In a press statement, Khayah Cement assured stakeholders and customers that the resumption of operations means they are now prepared to meet the current market demand.

Khayah Cement emphasized their commitment to keeping prices stable, dispelling any speculation about price hikes.

“The recommended retail selling price for PC15 and Supaset remains unchanged at USD 10.50 and USD 11.50, respectively,” said Khaya Cement.

The company’s swift response to restore operations comes amid concerns over a surge in cement prices by some retailers, sparking what many are calling “price madness” in the industry.

Khayah Cement has also appealed to cement dealers to act responsibly and adhere to the recommended retail prices, ensuring fair and reasonable pricing for end-users.

“We have not increased our prices and remain dedicated to providing a steady supply of quality cement to our customers at reasonable rates,” the statement read.

“It is crucial that our retailers recognize the importance of responsible pricing to maintain a healthy and sustainable market,” the company said.

Recently, government announced a raft of measures meant to stabilize cement prices including extending import licenses while also allowing those with free funds to import the product duty free.

No Fissures In CCC, Party Says

OPPOSITION Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has watered down rumours of fissures in the party following the recalls of Members of Parliament and councillors.

Tshabangu, the party’s self-appointed interim secretary general withdrew 15 MPs, councillors and senators, threatening to undo the gains of CCC in the August polls.

Speaking at a press conference CCC deputy spokesperson Ostallos Siziba, flanked by the party’s remaining MPs, downplayed any polarization in the opposition.

“There is no organisation without contradictions in this world. We have had debates in the party on which colour we should use. If you report that a certain leader had a different view on the colour which to use then you want to say there are fissures.

“There are no fissures, there are no contradictions, we are a democratic party, we have discourse and we defeat each other at the level of superior logic. Our difference with our opponents is that we do not criminalise holding a different view,” said Siziba.

CCC appears to be bursting in the aftermath of the disputed August elections with reports of disgruntled senior members rife.

Recently, Tshabangu called for the party to revert to 2019 leadership structures when it was MDC Alliance, giving life to purged senior members.

“This thing you are seeing is a Zanu-PF issue, Zanu-PF attacking the authentic opposition. All signs are clear CCC defeated Zanu-PF in this election. We reject the election results because we are very clear that it’s not only a CCC issue.

“They are going after CCC, we are being punished for defeating Zanu-PF. It is an engineered programme by Zanu-PF to try and destroy the authentic opposition in this country. We are very clear that we are not going to accept that. We remain focused. Our objective is to attain political power and govern differently. They do not want people who govern with a difference,” added Siziba.

CCC also professed ignorance over a letter that emerged Wednesday of Maxwell Omen Murindagomo claiming to be interim chairman and firing Tshabangu.

“I do not know that person. I am sure you have followed CCC. I am sure you have not heard that name. CCC does not know the said person,” said Siziba.

No kind words as former Mudzi Zanu PF MP dies

By A Correspondent- Zimbos took to social media to mock Zanu PF following the announcement that former Mudzi Zanu PF legislator, who was recently-installed Chief Mukota, Newton Kachepa died.

accident

Kachepa died at Marondera Hospital from injuries sustained in a car accident in Murewa.

Said Thembo: At some point even with Ubuntu intact, we will run out of sympathy. May his family find comfort in the hope that there maybe no more bad omen coming thier way after this.

@BigBrother1984O: It should be an eyeopener to the rest of the country . If the government improves emergency services and the health services some deaths could be prevented. Unfortunately the chief couldn’t be airlifted to neighbouring countries for medical treatment.

The Lost Chief of Buhera: its sad to lose a life due to things that could have been addressed. accidents and death do happen but efforts must be seen to have been done exhaustively to avoid loss of life. iyavozve Chief- ZANUPF- MP zuro ndizuro Army Boss to ZANU PF. chinyi chaizvo?
