By Munacho Gwamanda-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s supporters have abandoned the #ED2030 slogans, signalling a major political victory for his deputy, Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, in the ongoing battle for control of Zanu PF.
This shift was evident at the National Youth Day commemorations held yesterday at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.
In complete contrast to previous rallies, where Mnangagwa was welcomed with loud chants of “2030 ndeya Emmerson, 2030 baba,” his arrival was met with subdued enthusiasm.
The absence of the once-popular third-term campaign slogans underscores the growing influence of Chiwenga’s military-backed faction, which has strongly opposed Mnangagwa’s ambitions to extend his rule beyond 2028.
Chiwenga, standing composed alongside his wife Miniyothabo Baloyi, keenly observed the unfolding developments.
His allies, emboldened by the military’s support, had recently deployed war veterans to pressure Mnangagwa into stepping down immediately, citing his failure to govern effectively.
This development follows Mnangagwa’s repeated public statements distancing himself from the 2030 campaign, reaffirming his intent to retire at the end of his current term.
The #ED2030 campaign, designed to secure Mnangagwa a third term, had gained significant momentum despite his official denials.
However, the military’s firm opposition proved to be a decisive factor. According to a senior military insider, the army’sstance is “unequivocal”—Mnangagwa must complete his constitutional second term and leave office in 2028.
Further cementing this power shift, the army recently demonstrated its might in Harare by deploying armoured personnel carriers in a conspicuous display of force.
This move suggests that the military is actively shaping Zanu PF’s succession plan, with Chiwenga emerging as the favoured candidate to take over in the post-Mnangagwa era.

By Munachho Gwamanda-Six senior members of the Varakashi4ED social media unit have been fired for “indiscipline,” in a move widely seen as part of the ongoing power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
The dismissals were ordered by Zanu PF’s legal affairs boss, Patrick Chinamasa, under direct instructions from Mnangagwa.
Varakashi4ED is a state-sponsored online propaganda unit tasked with attacking opposition figures, shaping digital discourse in favour of Mnangagwa, and silencing dissent within Zanu PF.
Chinamasa, who serves as the executive director of the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, announced the sackings in a letter dated February 11, 2025, addressed to the party’s national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha.
He revealed that the decision followed a high-level meeting with Mnangagwa on February 3 to discuss growing disciplinary concerns within the unit.
“On February 3, 2025, I met with His Excellency, the President and First Secretary of Zanu PF, Cde Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, to discuss disciplinary issues within the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, which I lead as executive director,” Chinamasa wrote. “After reviewing serious infractions by rogue elements who attacked the unit’s leadership and senior party officials, the following recommendations were made…”
As a result, Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, Tafadzwa Mawire, Tinotenda Gachange, Felix Muzondo, Pardon Mangwende, and Herbert Mathe were permanently removed from the unit.
Chinamasa further informed Machacha that Norman Mbimbi had been appointed as the new administrator of Varakashi4ED, while Dereck Goto would take over as director of operations.
The latest purge within Zanu PF’s online propaganda arm underscores intensifying factional tensions, particularly between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.
Since orchestrating the 2017 coup that removed Robert Mugabe, the two men have maintained an uneasy alliance, with Chiwenga widely regarded as a potential challenger to Mnangagwa’s grip on power.
Tensions between their factions have been steadily rising, as Chiwenga’s military-aligned supporters grow increasingly frustrated with Mnangagwa’s consolidation of control.
The Varakashi4ED dismissals suggest a renewed effort by Mnangagwa to tighten his hold over Zanu PF’s internal structures and suppress dissent within the party’s information machinery.
Previously, the Varakashi unit was used to attack opposition politicians, independent journalists, and even party members suspected of disloyalty.
However, recent reports suggest factional battles within the group, with some members allegedly aligning with Chiwenga’s camp to undermine Mnangagwa’s authority under the guise of promoting party interests.
Office Orderly Jailed for Fuel Coupon Theft from Minister’s Office.
Mutare, Zimbabwe — A 30-year-old office orderly, Tendai Phil Muchadeyi, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for stealing fuel coupons valued at nearly US$1,000 from the office of the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza.
Mutare magistrate, Mr. Xavier Chipato, handed down the sentence, with seven months suspended for five years on condition of good behavior. Muchadeyi, who worked at the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, admitted to the theft when he appeared in court.
The Theft and Arrest
According to Prosecutor Ms. Sharon Mlambo, the crime occurred on November 19, when Muchadeyi stole an envelope containing 31 Petrotrade diesel coupons with serial numbers ranging from PU006D1339078 to PU006D13390100. The coupons were meant for official use by drivers within the Minister’s office.
The theft was discovered when administrative officer Ms. Caroline Ndadzungira, who had received a Petrotrade fuel coupon booklet on November 9, noticed the coupons were missing. Muchadeyi had observed her issuing coupons to drivers on November 17, learning where the coupons were stored.
Muchadeyi sold the stolen coupons in Harare before his arrest on December 5. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of 22 coupons valued at US$704.10. The total value of the stolen coupons was US$992.
Legal Consequences and Sentencing
Mr. Chipato’s ruling included a suspended sentence, allowing Muchadeyi to avoid serving the full term if he maintains good behavior over the next five years. The court emphasized the breach of trust and the need for accountability within government offices.
The case has sparked discussions on the need for stricter internal controls and monitoring mechanisms to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Sphamandla Khumalo is on trial for the murder of Nomfundo Msibi, the mother of his two children. According to prosecutor Krishen Shah, Khumalo planned and executed the fatal stabbing of Msibi in the parking lot of the Gateway shopping centre on August 4.
The Durban high court heard that Khumalo stabbed Msibi at least 22 times, with an okapi knife found lodged in her body. Khumalo pleaded not guilty to premeditated murder, claiming the stabbing was not intentional.
Video footage shown in court captured the final moments of Msibi’s life, depicting the couple’s quarrel and the fatal stabbing. Judge Jacqueline Henriques noted that while Khumalo admitted to stabbing Msibi, he maintained it was not his intention.
Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Councillor and Youth leader Arnold Batirai Dube has asserted that Zimbabwe is not under sanctions, but rather, the country is facing targeted restrictions imposed specifically on Zanu PF officials. Dube made the remarks in response to a recent news bulletin aired on the national broadcaster, emphasizing that the government’s narrative about sanctions is misleading.
“Zimbabwe is not on sanctions. We only have restricted measures. The regime is hiding behind the finger,” Batirai Dube stated, pointing out that the country’s challenges are not a result of broad sanctions but rather targeted actions aimed at specific individuals.
This statement comes amid the European Union’s (EU) decision to remove Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI) from its list of sanctioned entities while maintaining its arms embargo on the country. The EU, in a statement released this Tuesday, confirmed the adjustment of its restrictive measures on Zimbabwe, extending them until February 2026. The delisting of ZDI marks a notable change, though the EU has made it clear that restrictions on arms and military equipment will continue, a measure that has been in place since 2002.
In light of the EU’s decision, Zimbabwe continues to call for the unconditional and complete removal of the arms embargo, which it argues has hindered the country’s development for more than two decades. Despite this, Batirai Dube’s comments suggest a shift in understanding, focusing on the narrower scope of the restrictions rather than a blanket sanction on the entire nation.

The humdrum of an ordinary school day at Sojini Secondary School in Mbembesi was abruptly shattered when a routine audit uncovered a financial discrepancy that would soon send shockwaves through the entire community. It all began when school chairman Arnold Nombembe, sifting through documents in the dimly lit bursar’s office, stumbled upon a withdrawal slip that bore his own signature—except, he hadn’t signed it.
His pulse quickened. The slip authorized the withdrawal of US$1,220 from the school’s bank account at Stanbic Bank. With mounting suspicion, Nombembe clutched the slip tighter, his mind racing through the possible explanations. Could this be a clerical error, or was something far more sinister at play?
The answer would soon emerge, leading straight to the school’s headmaster, Themba Nyoni, who now stands accused of forging Nombembe’s signature. What followed was a whirlwind of investigations, culminating in Nyoni’s appearance in court on Thursday. But as the trial unfolds, the burning question remains: Did the headmaster truly steal, or is there another story waiting to be told?
As the pieces of this puzzling scandal come together, the community of Mbembesi watches closely, eager for the truth.
Did This Headmaster Steal? Sojini Secondary School’s Themba Nyoni in Court Over Forgery Allegations.
Mbembesi, Matabeleland North — February 22, 2025
The headmaster of Sojini Secondary School, Themba Nyoni, appeared in court on Thursday facing allegations of forgery and theft involving school funds. Nyoni, aged 53, is accused of forging the signature of the school’s chairman, Arnold Nombembe, to withdraw US$1,220 from the school’s bank account.
The court proceedings, held before Bulawayo magistrate Beverly Madzikatire, revealed shocking details as forensic expert Kurauone Madzivanyika testified that Nombembe’s signature on the withdrawal slip was indeed forged. Nyoni has been remanded out of custody until March 6, when the trial will continue.
According to the prosecution, led by Sehliselo Khumalo, the alleged crime took place on November 21, 2023. Nyoni purportedly used the forged signature to withdraw the funds at Stanbic Bank. The discrepancy came to light when Nombembe discovered the questionable withdrawal slip in the school bursar’s office.
“The withdrawal slip was for US$1,220,” Khumalo told the court, highlighting the gravity of the allegations.
This is not the first time Nyoni has been embroiled in controversy. Back in 2018, he faced legal action amid accusations of bullying and publicly berating teachers, even labeling them as “useless.” His leadership style was reportedly a source of friction, with subordinates accusing him of enforcing “draconian” measures at the school.
The critical question now looms: Did Nyoni steal from the school, or is this a case of misunderstanding or sabotage? As the trial progresses, parents, teachers, and the Mbembesi community are eagerly awaiting answers.
Stay tuned as we follow this developing story to uncover the truth behind the alleged forgery.
Zanu PF Youth League official Taurai Kandishaya has firmly dismissed claims that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is stepping down, stating that those spreading such rumors are merely fooling themselves.
In a heated statement made on Thursday, Kandishaya declared: “Street kid rekuna 4th rakafunga kusara rega nemabin ese ndokunyepera vamwe varo kuti kunaCoppacabana kwaitika accident yetruck redelta nerelobels.

He compared the spread of false rumors about Mnangagwa’s exit to a street child telling a lie and other gullible people beginning to believe it.
Kandishaya emphasized that the narrative was simply fabricated, stating: “Kugadzira manyepo woatengesa vakapusa voatambira zvekuti iwewe wacho Unosvika pakutanga kubvuma manyepo ako.”
He concluded by making it clear that President Mnangagwa was not going anywhere, adding: “Well, President ED is not going anywhere. Mi maChinja nemi maG40 continue believing in your own lies.”
Kandishaya’s comments come amidst ongoing rumors and speculation about the future of the Zimbabwean presidency. The youth leader’s defiant stance underscores the Zanu PF party’s commitment to Mnangagwa’s leadership, despite the growing opposition and speculation regarding his tenure.
President Mnangagwa has taken drastic measures against rogue elements within the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, a group of internet trolls employed by Zanu PF to attack its opponents .
Six members of the unit have been fired for allegedly attacking senior party members, as announced by Patrick Chinamasa, the party’s legal secretary and executive director of the unit.
The decision was made after Chinamasa met with President Mnangagwa to discuss disciplinary issues within the unit.
Chinamasa stated that the unit’s leadership and senior party officials had been attacked by rogue elements, leading to the removal of Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, Tafadzwa Mawire, Tinotenda Gachange, Felix Muzondo, Pardon Mangwende, and Herbert Mathe from the unit .
The Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit will now be the party’s sole recognized social media affiliate, and a new administrator and director of operations have been appointed. Norman Mbimbi will take over as administrator, while Dereck Goto will serve as director of operations.
The existence of the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit has long been rumored, but this is the first time proof has been obtained. The unit was established ahead of the 2023 harmonized elections, following President Mnangagwa’s directive.
One of the fired members, Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, took to social media to announce his departure, stating that he would be focusing on his law studies and reducing his time on social media.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A moment at the 21st Movement function in Bulawayo: a large sign held aloft by a defiant attendee sent shockwaves through the hall where President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s youth supporters were campaigning for his extended presidency. The sign, boldly declaring “Mash West in Solidarity with the Army,” highlighted the growing rift within Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU PF party and underscored the deepening discontent surrounding Mnangagwa’s controversial push to extend his rule to 2030.
The billboard
The event, which was intended to showcase unwavering support for Mnangagwa’s leadership, instead became a focal point for opposition voices. The same Mashonaland West region that recently expelled war veterans Blessed Runesu Geza and Gifford Gomwe as punishment for opposing Mnangagwa’s 2030 agenda is now sending mixed signals. This open display of solidarity with the army, widely seen as a veiled challenge to Mnangagwa’s authority, has sparked intense speculation about the true allegiances of the region’s political and military elites.
As Mnangagwa took to the stage, attempting to rally the crowd with the pro-regime anthem “2030 is Emmerson’s!”, the sign’s presence loomed large. The image of the president dancing alone, accompanied only by Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri’s half-hearted mimicry, contrasted sharply with the message of dissent that hung over the gathering. The atmosphere was palpably tense, as if the event had become a microcosm of the broader power struggle within Zimbabwe’s corridors of power.
This latest embarrassment comes as calls for Mnangagwa to step down in favor of his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, grow louder. The party’s own spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa, recently acknowledged that Blessed Geza, the expelled war veteran, is a trained military tactician with a knack for reading the party’s pulse. Geza has not shied away from demanding Mnangagwa’s immediate resignation, further emboldening those within the military and political establishments who are dissatisfied with the president’s maneuvers to cement his grip on power.
For many observers, the sign in solidarity with the army was more than just a statement—it was a signpost on the road to a potential political showdown. As Mnangagwa dances alone on stage, the question now is whether he is dancing on the edge of his political tenure or if his steps are merely the prelude to an even tighter hold on power. One thing is certain: Zimbabwe’s political dance floor is becoming increasingly crowded, and not everyone is moving to Mnangagwa’s beat.- ZimEye
By Munachho Gwamanda-Zanu PF, legal affairs boss Patrick Chinamasa has fired six members of the Varakashi4ED.

He emphasized that the unit was established under Mnangagwa’s directive ahead of the 2023 harmonized elections.
The latest purge within the ruling party’s online propaganda arm highlights deepening divisions in Zanu PF, particularly the ongoing power struggle between Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
Since orchestrating the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe, the two men have maintained an uneasy alliance, with Chiwenga widely seen as a potential challenger to Mnangagwa’s hold on power.
Tensions between the two factions have been escalating, with Chiwenga’s military-aligned supporters increasingly frustrated by Mnangagwa’s consolidation of power.
The recent sackings within Varakashi4ED suggest a renewed effort by Mnangagwa to tighten his grip on the party’s internal structures and control dissenting voices within the information machinery.
In previous years, Varakashi4ED has been used to target opposition figures, independent journalists, and even internal party members suspected of disloyalty.
However, recent reports indicate that factional battles within the group have led to some members aligning with Chiwenga’s camp, using the platform to undermine Mnangagwa’s authority under the guise of promoting party interests.
The removal of the six members comes at a time when the battle for the 2028 elections is intensifying, with Chiwenga’s allies publicly positioning themselves to challenge Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his rule beyond 2028.
The move signals that Mnangagwa is unwilling to tolerate any dissent, even within his most loyal propaganda units.
As Zanu PF gears up for internal restructuring and potential succession battles, the fate of the Varakashi4ED unit remains uncertain. Whether the latest purge will strengthen Mnangagwa’s position or embolden Chiwenga’s allies to push back remains to be seen.

The drama within the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) continues as interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu strongly rejected his dismissal from the party by leader Welshman Ncube.

Tshabangu responded defiantly, stating: “The battle is now ON, I’ll stand my ground to defend that nonsensical decision by @Welshman_Ncube. Interesting times ahead.”
This statement follows Tshabangu’s dismissal from the CCC earlier this week, a decision that has sparked controversy and further divisions within the party.

By Munacho Gwamanda–Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe has defended the sudden reappearance of police roadblocks across Zimbabwe, a move that coincides with the sighting of more than 20 military tanks on the streets of Harare.
While Kazembe insists the roadblocks are meant to curb traffic violations, citizens have raised concerns that law enforcement officers are using them to extort money from motorists.
Authorities have downplayed the presence of army tanks, claiming they are part of routine military drills.
However, the timing has fueled speculation of political instability, with many recalling eerily similar circumstances in the lead-up to the 2017 coup that toppled long-time ruler Robert Mugabe.
Kazembe’s confirmation that police checkpoints would remain in place has only intensified fears of an imminent power struggle.
Echoing military officials’ justifications for the tank deployments, Kazembe framed the roadblocks as a necessary measure to maintain law and order.
“Our people complain when police presence increases, and they complain when it is reduced. We have resolved to let the law guide us. The police will enforce regulations firmly, whether people complain or not,” Kazembe said.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing an electronic traffic management system, claiming it would enhance enforcement and reduce corruption.
“Technology doesn’t discriminate – it does not care about your face, relationship, or status. It ensures fairness and holds everyone accountable. By the end of this year, we will have this solution in place, and it will end the chaos on our roads,” he added.
Kazembe warned that reckless drivers and lawbreakers would face severe penalties, urging the public to comply with police directives.
Yet, many Zimbabweans suspect these measures are part of a broader security operation tied to internal conflicts within the ruling ZANU-PF party.
The heightened security presence comes amid increasing turmoil in ZANU-PF.
War veteran and Central Committee member Blessing Geza recently threatened to expose a faction plotting to remove President Emmerson Mnangagwa from power.
Geza, known for his ties to powerful military factions, issued an ultimatum for Mnangagwa to step down, warning of drastic consequences if he refuses.
Reports suggest that a military-aligned faction, led by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, is growing increasingly disillusioned with Mnangagwa’s leadership.
Many believe Mnangagwa has failed to honour an alleged agreement made during the 2017 coup, which purportedly secured Chiwenga’s path to the presidency.
Further adding to public anxiety, a viral video has surfaced featuring an unnamed prophet predicting a violent coup in Zimbabwe.
“The Lord has spoken, and I must pray for Zimbabwe. I saw another coup—one that will bring chaos and bloodshed. This will not be like before; this time, there will be much suffering, and many lives will be lost,” the prophet warned.
Prominent religious leader Ian Ndlovu has also issued a chilling prophecy, cautioning that the country’s deepening power struggle could spiral out of control.
The current political climate bears striking similarities to the events preceding the November 2017 coup, when the military moved against Mugabe to protect national stability.
Then, as now, military tanks rolled into Harare, and police roadblocks became more pronounced.
What was framed as a bid to restore democracy was, in reality, a high-stakes battle within ZANU-PF.
Mnangagwa ultimately emerged victorious, but his tenure has been marred by growing discontent within military ranks and the ruling party.
With tensions reaching a boiling point once again, the presence of tanks in Harare and the resurgence of roadblocks have reignited fears of another political shake-up.
Whether these developments signal the early stages of a coup or merely serve as precautionary security measures remains to be seen.
However, one thing is clear: Zimbabwe’s political landscape remains as volatile as ever.
Zanu PF activist Thokozo Sibanda, widely known as DJ Natty Cure, has publicly accused the party of abandoning him after he was injured while performing duties for them.
In a recent interview with The Mirror newspaper, the DJ revealed the painful reality of being neglected after an accident he suffered during the 2023 election campaign.
Thokozo, who was an active and vibrant figure during the run-up to the 2023 elections, claims that Zanu PF took advantage of his enthusiasm and energy but failed to offer any assistance when he needed it most.
According to him, the accident occurred while he was travelling to perform at a party event, and he has since been left to fend for himself.
“I was injured while travelling to a party programme but nobody has bothered to assist me,” Thokozo said, expressing his frustration and disappointment with the party he once supported. “I have tried to reach out to Minister Chadzamira’s office but nothing has worked so far.”
The DJ’s allegations shed light on the lack of support for party members who work tirelessly for the party’s cause but are left unsupported when they face personal challenges. Thokozo’s painful experience has left him feeling used and discarded, with no one stepping forward to provide the necessary assistance.
As the situation continues to unfold, many are left questioning the true nature of the party’s loyalty to its supporters and the treatment of its activists after they have given their all for the cause.
Gomwe Fires Back: “Mnangagwa is the Architect of Confusion in ZANU PF”
Here is Gomwe’s full statement in response to rumors of his expulsion from ZANU PF:
“In response to the process initiated to expel Cde Geza and me from ZANU PF, I want to make this clear: ZANU PF runs through my veins; it is in my heart. No one can take away what is a lifeblood within me. As party cadres, we are our own liberators, and no force can deter me from standing for what I believe is right.
The truth is, Cde Mnangagwa is the architect of the 2030 agenda. It is on record that he instructed ministers to chant the 2030 slogan, and he himself declared, ‘2030, ndichipo.’ He is the source of the confusion that plagues both ZANU PF and the nation at large. We refuse to be silenced when we know he is the one fueling divisions and factionalism within the party.
Gifford Gomwe
Our constitution mandates the President to promote peace and unity among Zimbabweans, yet under his leadership, anarchy and despondency have become the norm. ZANU PF is a sacred and colossal party, grounded in revolutionary ethos, principles, and ideology that guide us all. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, expression, and the right to life.
To my fellow Zimbabweans, it is time to wake up and stand firm for our rights. President Mnangagwa has failed. He has made countless promises, yet delivered on few. It is in the nation’s best interest that Cde Mnangagwa considers resigning as President before it is too late. We strongly urge him to step down and make way for a new chapter of leadership and progress for Zimbabwe.”

By Munacho Gwanda– Military tanks and trucks were spotted in several areas of Harare on Thursday afternoon, intensifying fears of an impending coup amid deepening political divisions within the ruling party.
At around 3 PM, reports surfaced of over 15 military tanks near the Central Business District (CBD), with others stationed in Hatcliffe.
Travellers heading to Domboshava were briefly halted near Glen Forest Cemetery to allow the tanks to pass.
“I counted over 17 of them,” an eyewitness told ZimEye on Thursday.
The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) had announced on Wednesday that the presence of military tanks on the streets of Harare would continue until Thursday as part of routine drills.
Deputy Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Tichafa Mungofa Wednesday told VOA Studio 7 that the military’s movements were part of standard exercises.
“It’s a normal exercise that the Army usually undertakes, and this is one of them. This is an ongoing exercise, and I think it will end tomorrow (Thursday),” Mungofa said.
However, the unusual deployment of military hardware has sparked anxiety, with many recalling the events leading up to the 2017 coup that led to the ousting of Robert Mugabe.
Then, tanks and military vehicles first appeared on Harare’s streets before key installations—including Parliament and police stations—were secured by soldiers.
On Thursday, Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe sought to downplay the developments, claiming that the sudden emergence of roadblocks across the country was meant to ensure public safety and curb road traffic offences.
Despite these assurances, sightings of more than 20 military tanks in the Borrowdale area on Wednesday have fueled speculation that a power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga may be reaching a boiling point.
The military intervention in 2017 was spearheaded by then-Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Commander General Constantino Chiwenga, with backing from influential military figures such as the late Air Marshal Perrence Shiri and retired General Sibusiso Moyo.
The coup was triggered by Mugabe’s decision to fire Mnangagwa as Vice President, a move widely seen as an attempt to clear the path for his wife, Grace Mugabe, to assume power.
Now, history appears to be repeating itself.
Tensions between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga have been steadily escalating, with reports of internal rifts within ZANU PF over Mnangagwa’s alleged plans to extend his rule beyond 2028 under the controversial #ED2030 agenda.
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba, Thursday posting under his pseudonym dhonzamusoro007 on social media, insisted that the movement of tanks was nothing more than standard military drills.
However, speculation persists that Chiwenga may have ordered their deployment to send a strong message to Mnangagwa.
Adding to the uncertainty, war veteran and ZANU PF Central Committee member Blessing Geza recently warned that war veterans were prepared to take drastic steps to remove Mnangagwa.
His remarks have intensified speculation that a faction within the military, still loyal to Chiwenga, could be preparing to act.
Reports suggest that senior military officials and war veterans have held clandestine meetings to strategize ways to counter Mnangagwa’s grip on power.
Sources indicate that Chiwenga’s allies accuse Mnangagwa of reneging on a 2017 coup agreement that allegedly promised Chiwenga the presidency after Mnangagwa’s first term.
Unlike Mugabe in 2017, Mnangagwa has spent years consolidating power, purging Chiwenga’s allies from both the military and government.
He has appointed loyalists to key positions and neutralized potential challengers within ZANU PF.
Additionally, several prominent figures from the 2017 coup, including Perrence Shiri and Paradzai Zimondi, have died under mysterious circumstances, fueling speculation that Mnangagwa has systematically weakened Chiwenga’s support base.
Despite these maneuvers, Chiwenga remains a formidable force within the security sector.
Reports indicate that a significant faction within the military and war veterans still consider him Zimbabwe’s rightful leader.
A recent high-level meeting in Mashonaland Central—historically a flashpoint for political upheavals—reportedly discussed growing dissatisfaction within the armed forces and the possibility of decisive action against Mnangagwa.
One insider remarked, “When credible war veterans like Blessing Geza speak, they are not hallucinating. They are sending a clear message—one that should not be ignored.”
Despite ongoing human rights violations, Zanu PF has appealed for the removal of sanctions…
EU Extends Sanctions on Zimbabwe
The European Union (EU) has extended its sanctions on Zimbabwe for another year, set to last until 20 February 2026. However, it has removed the Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI) from its sanctions list. The embargo on arms and equipment that could be used for internal repression remains in effect.
Zanu PF has expressed disappointment, criticizing the EU for continuing to impose what it describes as unilateral and illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe. The government, along with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU), continues to demand the unconditional lifting of sanctions. They argue that the sanctions have severely damaged Zimbabwe’s economy and have disproportionately affected the livelihoods of ordinary citizens, making them unjust, cruel, and unfair.
Real Madrid secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League playoff second leg, with Kylian Mbappé scoring a stunning hat-trick. The win earned Real Madrid a 6-3 aggregate victory and a spot in the last 16 of the competition.
Mbappé’s impressive performance was the highlight of the match, with the French forward scoring in the 4th, 33rd, and 61st minutes. His goals were a testament to his skill and speed, leaving Manchester City’s defense struggling to keep up.
Real Madrid’s dominance was evident throughout the match, with Manchester City failing to manage a shot on target in the first half. The absence of leading striker Erling Haaland, who suffered a knee injury, further weakened City’s attack.
Manchester City’s coach, Pep Guardiola, suffered a rare setback, with his team failing to reach the round of 16 for the first time in his illustrious career.
Real Madrid will now face either Bayer Leverkusen or Atlético Madrid in the next round, as they seek to win a record-extending 16th Champions League title. With Mbappé in top form, Real Madrid will be a formidable opponent for any team in the competition.
By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A story circulated claiming that preacher Passion Java has been deserted by his wife, Lily.
ZimEye reached out to Java to inquire about this, and he replied, saying:
“It’s Tatelicious who started it all by saying I went to Cape Town. When I had finished my meeting, I said, ‘Let me stay,’ and I have a house at the beach. So I was wearing my beachwear. I was five minutes from the house when it was said of me that I had gone mad. But the internet is the internet.”
Java was asked about the reported clearing of his wife’s Instagram account of his pictures. He said,
“We cleared our Instagram accounts and handed them to the church staff to manage.”
He also added that he is now involved in building and managing his church.
How big is your church? Java was asked.
“I have 38 branches (around the world),” he said.
Java also took time to insult senior war veteran Blessed Geza, saying he will not be able to fix the country as promised.
Which are you in the cosmos of politics in Zimbabwe? he was asked. He replied,
“There is a mudhara I saw who was talking too much.
“There is only one side of politics in Zimbabwe, the only side of ED Mnangagwa,” he said.
When asked how he could support someone who was recently described by his own prophet as a condemned politician humbled to the point of eating grass like cattle, he said,
“There is nothing like that. There is no such prophecy…
“The day when I announced, ‘Pamberi naED,’ God had told me he’s the leader of my choice, so for such a person to end up eating grass, it’s impossible,” he said.
He added, “It’s impossible; it’s impossible. That man is God’s messenger.” – ZimEye
A crisis is brewing at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) in Masvingo as the government’s failure to pay outstanding tuition fees for its teacher development programme beneficiaries has resulted in the withholding of certificates for numerous students.
According to sources within the university, the government’s inability to settle the arrears has left many teachers in a precarious situation.
“The failure to pay the tuition fees has led to the withholding of certificates,” revealed an official from the university’s main campus.
This development has come at a critical time, as the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced vacancies for school deputy heads and heads.
Many of the affected teachers were eager to apply for these positions, but without their certificates, they are unable to submit their applications.
The situation has caused significant frustration among the affected teachers, who now face delays in their professional progress due to the unresolved financial issues.
One affected teacher lamented, “We have completed our studies, but we cannot move forward in our careers.”
The university is yet to release an official statement on the matter, but it is clear that the government’s inaction has caused significant hardship for these teachers.
The European Union (EU) has extended its targeted sanctions on Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF party for another year, now lasting until 20 February 2026.
The sanctions continue to target key individuals within the party, who are seen as either directly involved in or supportive of the political establishment, as well as entities linked to the government.
Notably, the EU has decided to remove the Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI) from its sanctions list.
However, the embargo on arms and equipment that could be used for internal repression remains in effect, signaling ongoing concerns over potential human rights violations within the country.
In response to the EU’s renewed sanctions, Zimbabwe’s government, along with regional organizations such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU), have criticized the measures.
They argue that the sanctions continue to harm Zimbabwe’s economy, significantly affecting the livelihoods of ordinary citizens while failing to bring about the desired political change.
These entities call for the unconditional removal of the sanctions, stressing that they are a barrier to Zimbabwe’s economic development and a form of external interference in the country’s sovereignty.
In essence corruption is the barrier to economic growth in Zimbabwe.
The issue of targeted sanctions remains a deeply contentious one in Zimbabwe, with calls for their removal intensifying.
Luton Town, the English Championship club where Zimbabwean international Marvelous Nakamba plays, is on the brink of relegation to the third tier of English football. The Hatters have endured a dismal campaign, languishing at the bottom of the Championship log with a mere 27 points from 32 matches.
The team’s struggles led to the departure of former manager Rob Edwards last month. Despite a change in leadership, Luton’s fortunes have not improved, with their last victory in the Championship dating back to December, when they edged Derby County 2-1.
As the relegation battle intensifies, Luton faces a crucial encounter against fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle at Kenilworth Road tonight. The match presents a vital opportunity for the Hatters to revive their dwindling hopes of survival in the Championship.
As Zimbabwe marks 45 years of independence, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has vowed to focus on empowering war veterans who played a pivotal role in the liberation struggle.
In a significant development, special presidential advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara declared that the era of hardship for war veterans was over, emphasizing a new era of economic empowerment.
Speaking at the launch of the Mashonaland West Presidential War Veterans Fund, the Presidential War Veterans Borehole Drilling Program, and the Presidential War Veterans Rural Housing Scheme in Zvimba North, Mahiya on Tuesday, Dr. Tungwarara boldly stated, “Now is the time for economic emancipation.
War veterans, I am with you. The time of being a laughing stock is over.”
In line with this vision, Douglas Mahiya, the ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans League, shared additional initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of former freedom fighters. One of the key developments includes the creation of the War Veteran Family Wealth Trust.
This trust is designed as a vehicle to empower the families of war veterans, providing them with financial stability and opportunities for growth.
Mahiya highlighted that the government, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, is dedicated to doing everything it can to economically empower war veterans. “President E.D. Mnangagwa is going all he can to economically empower the War Veterans,” Mahiya affirmed during the launch event.
However, there is a growing chorus of skepticism among critics who argue that these efforts are nothing more than political games designed to garner support from a key demographic ahead of the upcoming elections
. Some say that Mnangagwa’s promises to war veterans have been made before, but the actual implementation of such programs has often been slow or insufficient.
Given the ongoing economic struggles faced by many war veterans, critics believe the government’s promises are more about political posturing than genuine commitment to their welfare.
Despite these concerns, the launch of these programs is seen by some as a significant step toward addressing long-standing grievances. Whether they will translate into meaningful change for war veterans remains to be seen.
The government’s push for empowerment comes amid increasing demands for the recognition and better treatment of Zimbabwe’s former freedom fighters who have long faced economic hardships.
While some are hopeful, others remain unconvinced, questioning whether the promises will lead to tangible outcomes or if they are simply part of a pre-election strategy.

In a surprising turn of events, Roseline Ndaizivei Tawengwa, wife of war veteran and Zanu PF central committee member Blessed Geza, has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Republic Police, according to Crime Watch Zimbabwe.
CID detectives from Harare, led by Maziti, took Tawengwa from their Norton residence, as confirmed by her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa.
Blessed Geza, who has been vocal in his opposition to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s third-term ambitions, has publicly criticized the president for allegedly protecting looters and thieves. Geza has also demanded that Mnangagwa step down from office.
By Munacho Gwamanda–Police, roadblocks have resurfaced across Zimbabwe, with citizens complaining that law enforcement officers are using them to extort money from motorists.
These concerns come at a time when the Zimbabwean Army deployed more than 20 tanks onto the streets of Harare on Wednesday.
Authorities have claimed the tanks were part of routine military drills, but the timing has fueled speculation of potential political instability.
This development, coupled with a statement from Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe confirming that police roadblocks would remain in place, has intensified coup fears among Zimbabweans.
Many recall similar circumstances preceding the 2017 coup that ousted long-time ruler Robert Mugabe.
In a statement, Kazembe, like the Army officials who defended the presence of tanks, justified the decision to continue with police roadblocks and patrols.
He cited public safety concerns and the necessity of maintaining law and order on the roads:
“Our people complain when police presence increases, and they complain when it is reduced. We have resolved to let the law guide us. The police will enforce regulations firmly, whether people complain or not.”
Kazembe also emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing an electronic traffic management system to enhance law enforcement efficiency:
“Technology doesn’t discriminate – it does not care about your face, relationship, or status. It ensures fairness and holds everyone accountable. By the end of this year, we will have this solution in place, and it will end the chaos on our roads.”
He further urged drivers to adhere to traffic laws and called on the public to cooperate with the police to uphold safety standards.
Kazembe warned that reckless drivers and lawbreakers would face severe penalties as part of broader efforts to restore order.
The heightened security measures come amid increasing political tensions within the ruling ZANU-PF party.
War veteran and ZANU-PF Central Committee member Blessing Geza has publicly threatened to expose plans by war veterans to remove President Emmerson Mnangagwa from power.
Geza, known for his close ties to powerful military factions, recently issued an ultimatum for Mnangagwa to resign, warning of drastic action if he refuses.
Reports suggest that a faction within the military, aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, is growingincreasingly dissatisfied with Mnangagwa’s leadership.
Many believe Mnangagwa has reneged on an alleged agreement from the 2017 coup, which was said to guarantee Chiwenga eventual leadership.
Adding to public anxiety, a viral video featuring an unnamed prophet has surfaced, predicting a violent coup in Zimbabwe. The prophet warned:
“The Lord has spoken, and I must pray for Zimbabwe. I saw another coup—one that will bring chaos and bloodshed. This will not be like before; this time, there will be much suffering, and many lives will be lost.”
Another prominent prophet, Ian Ndlovu, has also issued a chilling prophecy of impending military unrest, cautioning that the country’s deepening power struggle could spiral out of control.
The current political climate bears striking similarities to the events leading up to the November 2017 coup, when the military intervened to remove Mugabe after decades in power.
The coup was orchestrated by then-Vice President Mnangagwa and top military officials, including Chiwenga, who later became Vice President.
At the time, military tanks rolled into Harare under the pretext of protecting national stability.
The coup was justified as an effort to restore democracy, but in reality, it was a high-stakes power struggle within ZANU-PF.
Mnangagwa ultimately emerged victorious, but his tenure has been marked by growing discontent within the military ranks and ruling party structures.
With tensions reaching a boiling point once again, the presence of tanks in Harare and the resurgence of roadblocks have reignited fears of another political shake-up.
Whether these developments signal the early stages of a coup or are merely precautionary security measures remains to be seen.
However, one thing is clear: Zimbabwe’s political landscape remains as volatile as ever.

CAPS United has confirmed the departure of William Manondo, who has completed a permanent transfer to Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Simba Bhora.
Manondo’s move to Simba Bhora marks the latest addition to the club’s impressive roster, which has been bolstered by several high-profile signings ahead of the new season. The club has already secured the services of top players such as Tonderai Mateyaunga, Carlos Mavhurume, Kelvin Gwao, Liberty Chakaroma, Trevor Mavhunga, Donald Mudadi, and Never Tigere.
As the reigning Castle Lager Premiership title holders, Simba Bhora is set to compete in the prestigious CAF Champions League next season. The acquisition of Manondo is expected to further strengthen the team’s bid for success in the continental competition.
The Safety & Victims Advocacy Foundation urgently reminds our police institutions of their duty to enforce the regulation requiring the use of warning triangle reflectors for vehicles experiencing breakdowns on the road.
Every year, innocent lives are tragically lost due to head-on or rear-ended collisions with stationary vehicles that are not properly marked. Despite the critical nature of this regulation, its enforcement remains weak, and drivers have become negligent, often placing tree branches or burst tires on the road instead of using the required reflective triangles. This negligence continues to put lives at risk while authorities look on.
We urge all authorities to enforce this regulation, regardless of its specific section number in traffic laws. While sections may vary, the need for this universal law remains constant.

Killer Zivhu, a notable and unpredictable member of Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF party, has boldly declared that the party will continue to govern the country for the next 100 years.
Zivhu made this assertion in an effort to downplay the ongoing infighting within the party, which has recently seen divisions over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 2030 agenda and the question of succession.
In a statement released yesterday, Zivhu dismissed concerns over the internal rifts, stating, “Zimbabweans are easily drawn to anything against ZANU.
My advice to ZANU youth is to leverage this attraction for financial gain! Develop products with branding like GEZA and profit from it.”
The reference to “GEZA” is seen as a nod to the political and social dynamics that often surround the ruling party, suggesting that such issues can be turned into opportunities rather than obstacles.
Zivhu’s statement reflects his belief in the enduring power of Zanu PF, despite the ongoing power struggles within the party.
“Let’s be realistic – ZANU will be in power for the next 100 years,” he declared, underscoring his confidence in the party’s long-term hold on power.
This assertion comes amid growing tension within Zanu PF over Mnangagwa’s vision for the country’s future.
The party is divided over those who support the President’s 2030 agenda and others who believe that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga should take over leadership.
While Zivhu seeks to downplay the significance of these divisions, they have become a significant point of contention within the ruling party.
Despite the infighting, Zivhu’s comments suggest that he believes Zanu PF’s grip on power is unshakable, and that the party’s influence will persist for a century to come.

By Munacho Gwamanda-The troubled and fractured Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), now led by Welshman Ncube, has expelled its self-imposed secretary-general, Sengezo Tshabangu, marking another chapter in the party’s prolonged internal strife.
Ncube announced Tshabangu’s expulsion after he was found guilty of various charges, including undermining party leadership and unilaterally making decisions without proper authority.
The move is the culmination of a long-standing feud between the two, which has played out both in the courts and in the political arena.
Tshabangu has long been a divisive figure in opposition politics.
Initially, he was instrumental in efforts by Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti to frustrate Nelson Chamisa’s leadership after the 2018 elections, contributing to the fragmentation of the opposition.
More recently, he has been accused of working with Zanu PF to dismantle the original CCC through mass recalls of elected representatives, a move widely seen as an attempt to weaken the opposition ahead of future elections.
Last week, Tshabangu appeared before a disciplinary hearing under protest, facing four counts of misconduct.
According to a statement issued by Welshman’s CCC faction’s spokesperson Wilias Madzimure, the charges stemmed from Tshabangu’s unilateral restructuring of the party’s parliamentary leadership in November and December 2024.
“In or about November 2024 and December 2024, you made or purported to make changes of CCC parliamentary portfolio holders without the authority of the president or any organ of the party, that is CCC,” Madzimure stated.
“Having found Sengezo Tshabangu guilty of all the charges and having regard to the gravity of the acts of misconduct for which the committee convicted him, the committee decided to sentence him to expulsion from the party with immediate effect.”
The expulsion underscores the deep-seated divisions within CCC, which have intensified since the abrupt resignation of Nelson Chamisa as party leader in January.
Chamisa’s departure was largely triggered by Tshabangu’s relentless recalls of dozens of CCC legislators and councillors, a move widely believed to have been orchestrated with the backing of Zanu PF.
Ironically, Ncube himself rose to party leadership through Tshabangu’s machinations, but their alliance has since deteriorated into open hostility.
Responding to the expulsion, Tshabangu’s spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, dismissed Ncube’s move as baseless and procedurally flawed.
“This is a rather strange process,” Mlilo said. “Any disciplinary hearing, in circumstances where a charged party is found guilty, must follow due process. The disciplinary committee must render a reasoned judgment based on facts and legal principles. The accused must also be given an opportunity to make submissions in mitigation, while the prosecution presents aggravating factors before sentencing.”
He scoffed at Madzimure’s statement, calling it “not worth a yawn.”
“Senator Tshabangu has better things to do with his time than to play marbles with argumentative busybodies,” Mlilo said.
Tshabangu’s expulsion is unlikely to bring stability to the already fractured CCC, which remains deeply divided over leadership, strategy, and its future direction.
With both factions accusing each other of betrayal, the opposition movement risks further fragmentation, playing directly into the hands of Zanu PF.
A devastating lightning strike at Vanguard Mine in Mberengwa on Wednesday night has claimed the lives of three people, while leaving three others seriously injured. The tragic incident occurred at the mine’s shopping center, where the victims had sought shelter in a shop, hoping to escape the storm.
Mberengwa District Development Coordinator, Mr. Vafios Hlabati, confirmed the incident to state media, expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased. Mr. Hlabati also took the opportunity to urge the public to take necessary precautions to avoid being struck by lightning.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by lightning storms, particularly during this time of year. As the country experiences increased rainfall and thunderstorms, it is essential for individuals to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
Mr. Hlabati’s warning comes at a critical time, and it is crucial that communities take heed of his advice to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
By Munacho Gwamanda -Charles Nyoni, Zimbabwe’s biggest man and the world’s second-tallest individual, has died.
Affectionately known as ‘Big Charlie,’ Nyoni passed away yesterday morning at St Patrick’s Hospital in Empumalangadue to complications related to high blood pressure.
He was 59.
“He was rushed to the hospital on Thursday night last week and had been receiving treatment since then. We were hopeful that he would recover, but unfortunately, he did not make it,” said Ms. Ndlovu, a family spokesperson.
She added that the family was deeply devastated by his passing and was still deliberating on funeral arrangements.
Mourners are gathered at his home in A52 Lwendulu Village, Hwange.
Standing at 2.1 meters (6 feet 11 inches) and weighing 300 kilograms, Nyoni was just 41 centimeters shorter than the world’s tallest man, Turkey’s Sultan Kösen.
His remarkable size made him a beloved figure in Hwange and beyond, drawing curious visitors eager to meet Zimbabwe’s ‘gentle giant.’
Nyoni’s physical stature was matched by his legendary appetite.
He was known to drink tea from a teapot instead of a mug and required meals that could feed three men.
He famously ate a whole chicken in one sitting and wore a size 22 shoe—a rarity even among professional athletes.
For years, many locals mistakenly believed his surname was Gumbo due to his exceptionally large feet.
His reputation grew beyond Hwange, with tourists making detours just to catch a glimpse of the man whose hands could engulf a regular-sized plate.
Big Charlie’s extraordinary growth was caused by gigantic acromegaly, a rare disorder linked to excessive production of growth hormones.
The condition often leads to health complications and reduced life expectancy.
He revealed in an interview with Zimpapers that by the time he was 11, no children’s shoe size could accommodate his feet.
His mother initially bought him Farmer Shoes, but he quickly outgrew even the largest size.
At 17, he underwent medical tests at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare, but financial challenges prevented him from completing treatment.
Raised by a single mother, Nyoni’s life was marked by tragedy—his father was among the 427 miners who perished in the 1972 Kamandama Mine Disaster, one of Zimbabwe’s worst mining accidents.
Nyoni was employed at Hwange Colliery Company as a builder and refuse collector before being retrenched in 2012.
His immense strength became the stuff of legend—while his co-workers struggled to carry 50kg bags of cement in pairs, Big Charlie could lift four at once.
Due to his size, the Colliery Company struggled to find suitable overalls and safety shoes for him.
At one point, they commissioned a shoe manufacturer to create custom-made footwear for him, but production halted when the company ran out of special materials.
Despite losing his job, Nyoni remained a local icon, attracting tourists who wanted to meet Zimbabwe’s ‘biggest man.’
Visitors to Hwange often sought him out for photos, fascinated by his larger-than-life presence.
Tour operators occasionally included him in their itineraries, recognizing his unique appeal in a town best known for its wildlife.
In 2020, Nyoni expressed his desire to meet First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, hoping she could assist in improving his quality of life.
He struggled with mobility due to his size and often faced difficulties using public transport, as many drivers refused to accommodate him.
“I would like to meet Amai venyika, Amai Mnangagwa, so she can see and appreciate my plight. I cannot walk, my car is down, and public transport operators won’t allow me on board,” he told the Sunday News at the time.
His hopes were raised when ZANU-PF official Victor Matemadanda visited him and assured him that the First Lady would come.
However, the visit never materialized, and Nyoni passed away with that wish unfulfilled.
Nyoni’s death marks the end of an era for Hwange, where he was not just a local celebrity but also an unofficial tourist attraction.
His presence added to the unique character of the coal-mining town, and he will be remembered for his strength, resilience, and warm personality.
Funeral arrangements are still being finalized, but Hwange mourns the loss of one of its most remarkable figures—a man whose size was matched only by the enormity of his story.
Nowadays, with so many options for sending money across borders, it can be truly overwhelming. The important thing is to learn the best and safest way to transport money, whether it is to send it to family, pay bills, or put money into a business account. This overview, presented by Kirill Yurovskiy, starts by explaining how international money transfers actually work and goes all the way up to describing how to pick the best way for your particular needs in the year 2025.
Understanding International Money Transfers
Basically, sending money abroad means the transferring of money from one country to another. It usually has the conversion of money into the form of a second currency. Here come such terms as a conversion rate and a money transfer fee. The transfers of money become possible through certain sources, which could be bank-based, web-based, and even mobile-based. What gets to be chosen depends on so many necessities: convenience, speed, or cost.
Best Ways to Transfer Money in 2025
As the technology behind it keeps upgrading, the mode of money transmission across the border changes with each passing year. Herein are some of the best options that will keep much relevance during 2025:
Banks: Although banks could be used and even make a good option when larger transfers are involved, by and large, they charge significantly higher fees and apply less competitive exchange rates.
Online Transfer Services: Companies especially, considering that it was generally known until recently as TransferWise-can give them a distinctly quicker, more inexpensive, and more transparent transaction than that given by using banks.
Cryptocurrencies: While, in fact, still in their infancy, the most borderless means of transferring cash in an absolutely seamless flow using Bitcoin or Ethereum, some of them prove somewhat volatile.
International Mobile Payment Applications: Applications like Venmo and Cash App, if going international, can be very great, easy options to handle small transfers.
All of those means have certain strong and weak sides; thus, it is very important to weigh them up, considering certain needs. Read the full info: https://pay-kirill-yurovskiy.co.uk/
The Hidden Fees And How to Steer Clear from Them
These hidden charges sum up and make the international transfer so expensive. Common fees shall include:
Transfer Fees; It is charged as the service provider processes the transaction.
Exchange Rate Margins: A bad exchange rate allows some providers to make a profit.
Receiving Fees: These are some of the charges which may be deducted from the recipient’s bank or service provider.
How to Avoid Hidden Fees
Not to be at a disadvantage, here are the ways on how to avoid hidden fees:
Compare the providers with regard to pricing clarity.
Avail the services of online transfers that offer current exchange rates and minimum margins.
Also, find out about any receiving fees in the UK.
Banks Versus Online Money Transfer Services.
The two most used ways to send money to the UK are through the use of banks and online money transfer services. Here is how they contrast with each other:
Banks:
Pros: Trustful, safe, good for huge transfers.
Cons: more expensive, takes more time to get the money across, not-so-good rates of exchange.
Online Transfer Services:
Pros: Cheaper, quicker transfers, and good exchange rate.
Cons: it may have caps, and few people understand it.
It means increased usage of online transfer services, where the cost and convenience are properly weighed.
Cryptocurrencies and Money Transfers: The Future?
Cryptocurrencies represent another alternative a limited framework to traditional cross-border money transfer systems. Major benefits of Cryptocurrency include:
Speed- This happens on the chain within minutes and without regard for the place in which the transaction originates.
Lower Fees: Most of the transaction fees will be so much less when compared to traditional methods with cryptocurrency.
Decentralized: No intermediary involved means fewer bottlenecks and absolutely no delays.
However, a few challenges exist:
Volatility: The value of cryptocurrencies is highly volatile; hence, the value received will be impacted.
Regulation: Legalities pertaining to cryptocurrencies remain developing and can be very vague.
Mainstream, but in the future, this option may be practical for advanced users.
How Exchange Rates Affect Your Transfers
Exchange rates often play a big role in what amount of money is finally received. It is amazing how a little, minute difference in the rates will tend to lead to bigger losses on huge transfers. How to get the best rates:
Follow the current trends in exchange rates with the help of services such as XE or OANDA.
Use only providers that give real mid-market rates plus the smallest margins.
Where possible, try to lock in a rate with your provider.
How to Send Money to the UK – Fast Options
The one urgently in need of a speed money transfer, then the following options are to be tried:
Online Transfer Services: Transfers via service providers will happen in minutes or hours; using companies like Wise and Revolut, transfers are received within this timeframe.
Cryptocurrency: Transfers in cryptocurrency generally happen in minutes, but it will take some time for the conversions to come to GBP.
Wire Transfers: Banks are really slow, but a few of them offer expedited wire transfers for an additional fee.
Always check the estimated delivery time before making a transfer.
Security Risks and How to Stay Safe
One of the concerns about transferring cash internationally is safety. Some of these risks are:
Rogue Operators: Scammers can pretend to be a real money transfer company.
The phishing attacks may be ways in which the hackers attempt to lure your login details and personal data.
Transaction error: Sometimes, the amount transferred to the wrong account can’t be pulled back.
For Safety,
Distrust a reputed service provider who shall implement the highest order of security:
Encryption and two-factor Authentication.
Double-check the Recipient’s Details before Confirming Your Transfer.
Public Wi-Fi is a big NO for financial transaction purposes.
Laws to be aware of before transferring
Transfers across national borders are obviously entwined with plenty of regulations that involve money laundering as well as other frauds. Key Points to be noted :
Identification -Most of these transfers will need some form of Identification, say passports, driving licenses, etc.
Limits over Transfer: Most countries have limits to sending and receiving money over the amount that they can support.
Taxes may be applicable: Large transfers are liable to taxes or some other form of reporting.
Laws and regulations regarding your own country and the UK are well known to avoid any litigation.
Choose an Option That Serves Your Needs Best
Transfers to the UK can be pretty painless if you can understand all the different methodologies and their respective charges and prevailing laws in place. A snapshot guide to inform your decision is shown below:
Low Costs: Online transfer services, such as Wise or Revolut, will probably be the best option.
Large Transfer: Banks work out your desired security and reliability.
This can be a cryptocurrency or just the online service required.
Convenience: Of course, mobile phone applications come in very handy in place for making fewer numbers of paying. According to how a viewer sees everything, it falls into the right place if cheap, faster, and safest; comparing assuredly can reassure one that money is ready to cross in the UK efficiently.
By A Correspondent| The Harare City Council is reeling from a devastating corruption scandal that has left residents outraged with employees on the verge of rioting. At the centre of the storm is the Town Clerk Hosiah Chisango who pockets a staggering $30,000 monthly salary, plus an array of lavish allowances that have since been revealed to this publication.
The Mayor, Jacob Mafume has of late been under fire for attempting to uncover the executive salaries, his efforts have been thwarted by the powerful Deputy Town Clerk Matthew Marara and Acting Human Capital Manager Bosman Matengarufu who are also beneficiaries of the bloated secret payroll. The little Mafume managed to uncover was the shocking $30,000 monthly salary and the executive’s $1 million splurge on vehicles that could have turned the Capital into a world class city had it been channeled towards service delivery.
Investigations by this publication have established that Chisango also gets the following, a holiday allowance of $19,000, entertainment allowance, clothing allowance, and even school fees for his children. Other directors are also raking in slightly lower allowances while employees struggle to make ends meet as they earn a mere $112 Nostro and 6000 ZiG which is currently unpaid.
There are calls for the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC )to vet the Town Clerk’s nostro accounts in order to reveal a web of deceit and corruption “that will shock the nation”. “We’re sitting on a powder keg, and it’s only a matter of time before ZACC discovers how much is in their accounts and all it blows up,I tell you, if employees from Grade 7 to 16 who by-the -way haven’t received their January salaries see what Matengarufu is hiding from the Mayor, I tell you, they will come and riot here at Town House without even consulting unions ,” warned a senior council staffer.
The situation in Harare is already dire, with no diesel for service delivery , no water, blockages are common, no drugs, and solid waste is everywhere while employees are now absenteeing from work due to transport costs. Channeling Chisango’s one month’s salary towards council’s coffers would be enough to pay all employees’ salaries in full and solve nearly half of the residents’ problems. “It’s time for us to take a stand and demand accountability, we are not slaves,” said the staffer. “We can’t let them continue to loot and pillage while we suffer, the Commission of Inquiry is trying but ZACC must act now, or risk being complicit in council’s corruption and when we get to that stage, protests and demonstrations are inevitable because the Mayor can’t fight this battle alone, the executive is too powerful and willing to bribe or kill in order to keep milking Councill of millions at the expense of the employees and residents”.
By Munacho Gwanda- The Zimbabwe National Army has said the presence of military tanks on the streets of Harare will continue until Thursday (today).
Deputy Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Tichafa Mungofa told VOA’s Studio 7 that the military was/is conducting routine drills with the tanks and people should not be worried.
“It’s a normal exercise that the Army usually undertakes, and this is one of them. This is an ongoing exercise, and I think it will end tomorrow (Thursday),” he said.
More than 20 military tanks were spotted in Harare’s Borrowdale area, fueling fears of a possible coup, particularly amid deepening divisions within the ruling party.
The sudden and unusual movement of military hardware mirrors events leading up to the 2017 coup when soldiers first appeared in the streets before tanks were deployed to strategic locations, including Parliament and police stations, to disarm the police force, which had become Mugabe’s de facto paramilitary wing.
That coup, orchestrated by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) under then-General Constantino Chiwenga, was backed by key military figures such as the late Air Marshal Perrence Shiri and retired General Sibusiso Moyo.
The military’s intervention followed Mugabe’s decision to fire Mnangagwa as Vice President, a move seen as clearing the way for his wife, Grace Mugabe, to seize power.
Mugabe’s ouster paved the way for Mnangagwa to assume the presidency, but growing unease within the ruling party has reignited fears of another military takeover.
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba, posting under his pseudonym dhonzamusoro007 on social media, insisted that the military tank movement was part of routine drills.
Despite official dismissals, speculation persists that Vice President Chiwenga may have deployed the tanks to intimidate Mnangagwa amid their intensifying power struggle.
Chiwenga, who was in Mutare attending the funeral of Sekuru Leonard “Mwatambandini” Kashiri—the father-in-law of Zanu PF National Chairperson and Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri—has not publicly commented on the developments.
Adding to the uncertainty, war veteran and Zanu PF Central Committee member Blessing Geza recently warned that war veterans would take drastic steps to remove Mnangagwa.
His remarks have intensified speculation that a military faction loyal to Chiwenga could be preparing to act.
Reports suggest that senior military officials and war veterans have held secret meetings to strategize ways to blockMnangagwa’s attempts to extend his rule beyond his current term under the controversial #ED2030 agenda.
Sources indicate that the rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has reached a breaking point, with Chiwenga’s allies accusing Mnangagwa of reneging on a 2017 coup agreement that allegedly promised him the presidency after Mnangagwa’s first term.
Unlike Mugabe in 2017, Mnangagwa has spent years consolidating power.
He has appointed loyalists to key military positions, purged Chiwenga allies, and neutralized potential rivals within Zanu PF.
Many figures from the 2017 coup, including Perrence Shiri and Paradzai Zimondi, have died under suspicious circumstances, raising speculation that Mnangagwa orchestrated their eliminations to weaken Chiwenga’s support base.
Despite these maneuvers, Chiwenga remains a formidable force within the security sector.
Reports suggest that a faction of the military and war veterans still consider him Zimbabwe’s rightful leader.
A recent high-level meeting in Mashonaland Central, a province known for political upheavals, reportedly discussed growing discontent within the military and the possibility of drastic action against Mnangagwa.
One insider remarked: “You hear what credible war veterans like Blessing Geza are saying.
He is not hallucinating; he is communicating a message from the script, and you must listen carefully.”
While Mnangagwa has fortified his grip on security and intelligence agencies, Zimbabwe’s political landscape remains unpredictable.
If discontent within the military reaches a tipping point, even a well-entrenched president can be overthrown.
With tensions between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga escalating and war veterans openly voicing their grievances, Zimbabwe may be on the verge of yet another military-led political upheaval.
Whether the military presence is a precursor to a coup or merely routine drills, the coming weeks will be decisive in shaping Zimbabwe’s future.

Persons with disabilities in Zimbabwe are advocating for increased inclusivity in the design and construction of public spaces, citing significant obstacles in accessing buildings due to a lack of essential accessibility features.
In Harare, navigating the city can be a challenging experience for individuals with disabilities, as many buildings fail to accommodate their needs, limiting their ability to move freely and independently.
Several individuals shared their personal experiences with ZBC News, stressing the urgent need for better accessibility in public infrastructure. One individual noted, “Some of the buildings are not accessible. There still is a need to do more. We need facilities to put up ramps for us, brailles, and side handles for assistance. Moving about the CBD is quite challenging at the moment. You just end up having to get used to these places, otherwise they are not accessible.”
Additionally, challenges extend beyond just basic building access. “Sometimes we want to buy our daily necessities from shops in the CBD, but the stores are not accessible. We are facing similar difficulties in entertainment and sports industries. We cannot access the facilities there. We need the government to assist us,” another person with disabilities explained.
Supporting this call for change is Mrs. Joyce Matara, acting executive director of the National Association of Societies for the Care of the Handicapped. She advocates for more accessibility in building design, sharing that the organization has begun an initiative to inspect buildings for accessibility. “We assist and point out what is lacking. We came up with guidelines and checklists, and we are currently doing this for free in Harare. There is a need for people to understand that accessibility goes beyond ramps and lifts. Buildings must be properly designed to ensure they are usable. Most buildings today are not accessible for persons with disabilities, yet they are a part of our society,” Matara said.
The call for disability-friendly buildings aligns with the National Disability Policy of 2021, which mandates that all public facilities and buildings be accessible to persons with disabilities.
Former Zimbabwe national team coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, also known as Mhofu, is optimistic about the Warriors’ chances in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. He believes the current young and talented squad has the potential to go beyond the group phase for the first time.
“This is our sixth time qualifying, and I’m confident we can make history,” Mhofu said. “Being the underdogs will work to our advantage, and we’re in a better position to upset Bafana Bafana.”
Mhofu warned that Zimbabwe should not be underestimated by their opponents, including Egypt and Angola. “Football is stubborn, and anyone who looks down on us does so at their own risk,” he said.
By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Bulawayo mayor and human rights lawyer David Coltart has weighed in on former U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s controversial statement regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which Trump labeled Zelensky a “dictator” due to Ukraine’s lack of elections since Russia’s invasion.
In a pointed response, Coltart drew a historical parallel with World War II, highlighting that while the United Kingdom held elections during the war, it did not conduct a general election. The last general election before the war was in 1935, and the next only occurred in July 1945, following the war’s end. During the conflict, Britain was governed by a wartime coalition government led by Winston Churchill, comprising the Conservative, Labour, and Liberal parties. The general election due in 1940 was postponed under the Emergency Powers (Defence) Act.
“No one would ever have called Churchill a dictator simply because he didn’t hold an election during World War 2,” Coltart emphasized, countering Trump’s assertion.
Winston Churchill- file copy credit: commons
He noted that while the USA held elections during World War II, it was never under the direct threat of invasion, unlike Ukraine, which faces the harsh reality of 20% of its UN-recognized territory under Russian control and routine rocket and drone attacks.
“It is, in my opinion, unreasonable to expect Ukraine to hold a general election during the war,” Coltart stated. “How a country can hold free and fair elections in this context is beyond me.”
Trump’s original statement, shared widely on social media, criticized the Biden administration for spending $350 billion on Ukraine’s war effort, suggesting Zelensky mismanaged funds and alleging he played President Joe Biden “like a fiddle.” He further implied that only his leadership could negotiate an end to the war with Russia.
Coltart’s response is gaining traction, with many observers noting the historical precedent and the complexities of holding elections in wartime. The debate underscores the broader geopolitical tensions and the scrutiny over international support for Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.-ZimEye
Police Raids in Bulawayo Uncover Drug Ring Involving Minors and Adults
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — Separate crackdowns by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) in Bulawayo’s western suburbs and the city centre have led to the arrest of several suspects, including minors, in connection with dangerous drugs and substances.
The raids, conducted in Entumbane, Njube, and the central business district, resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of Broncleer cough syrup, marijuana, and crystal meth. Shockingly, those arrested included a 12-year-old Grade Seven girl, a 14-year-old Form Two boy, and an 18-year-old Form Three female, highlighting the growing crisis of drug abuse among schoolchildren.
Disturbing Details Emerge
One of the arrested individuals, a security guard and a resident of Entumbane, was allegedly hosting drug initiation parties for children as young as 12 years old. During the raids, police discovered schoolchildren, school dropouts, and adults engaging in illegal activities at his residence.
Among the suspects is Elliot Ndlovu (24), who had reportedly intimidated Entumbane residents by claiming he was “untouchable” by the police. Bulawayo provincial acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, dismissed Ndlovu’s claims, stating, “There is no one above the law.”
Arrested Suspects and Seized Drugs
The police paraded the arrested suspects and confiscated drugs at the Bulawayo Central Police Station. The arrested suspects include:
• Ashley Richardson (22) from Njube
• Thomas Phiri (19) from Entumbane
• Ronald Ncube (24) from Emganwini
• Ntuntuko Masuku (20) of Entumbane
• Michael Ncube (34), address unknown
• Nikita Mhlanga (36), accused of hosting vuzu parties and selling drugs to schoolchildren
Several juveniles, including a 17-year-old school dropout and a 17-year-old Form Three student, were also detained but later released into the custody of their parents or guardians.
Ongoing Investigations
The crackdown followed a tip-off from vigilant community members and police intelligence. Authorities believe that most drug peddlers in Bulawayo are aged between 19 and 25 years.
Last Friday, police arrested four more suspected drug dealers, including Aubrey Muchenje, Sylvester Moyo, Elton Ndlovu, and Owen Muchenje, after a community tip-off. The arrests led to the recovery of 40 bottles of Broncleer cough syrup, 1 kilogram of marijuana, and sachets of crystal meth.
Court Appearance Scheduled
The suspects, including the alleged drug dealer Nikita Mhlanga, are expected to appear in court on Thursday. Police have assured the public of their commitment to eradicating drug abuse and called for continued community cooperation.
Community Commended
Assistant Inspector Msebele praised the Entumbane and Njube residents for their courage in reporting illegal activities despite threats and intimidation from drug dealers. She emphasized, “As police, we want to assure the public that information supplied to us will be acted upon in confidence.”
The raids mark a significant step in Bulawayo’s fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse, with authorities pledging to maintain pressure on drug networks and ensure the safety of the city’s young population.
In a shocking revelation, a forensic audit dated August 11, 2023, has uncovered significant financial mismanagement within the Harare Municipal Medical Aid Society (HMMAS). The audit report indicates that HMMAS purchased a US$1.4 million property but never took possession of it. Instead, the property was later sold under unclear circumstances, and the municipality did not recover its funds.
The audit exposed multiple anomalies, including overpricing and double payment of a property in Ruwa, resulting in a further US$1.2 million loss. Additionally, properties were acquired without obtaining title deeds, complicating efforts to trace these assets.
The report highlights alarming financial discrepancies, including a former CEO personally collecting subscription payments worth US$246,500, which were never recorded by the cashier. The audit also revealed questionable conveyancing fees of US$300,000—far exceeding standard rates—during the property transactions.
The property in question was initially purchased from Everleigh Services Private Limited through AfrAsia Bank in 2015. Despite the full payment, HMMAS never took ownership, and the property was subsequently sold to Cheetah Express Logistics Private Limited in 2018, resulting in a total loss of US$1.7 million.
Further irregularities include a staggering overpayment of US$550,000 for equipment valued at just US$100,000 during the purchase of Fortress Hospital. The audit exposes significant financial prejudice and raises serious concerns about accountability and governance within HMMAS.
The unfolding scandal has prompted calls for a thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable and recover the lost funds.
A 61-year-old self-employed man from Upper Rangemore, Bulawayo, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Bulawayo Magistrates Court for the rape of his mentally incapacitated stepdaughter.
The sentence was handed down after the accused was found guilty of the crime which took place on November 21, 2024.
According to the details presented in court, the accused unlawfully had sexual intercourse with his 24-year-old stepdaughter, who is legally incapable of giving consent due to her mental condition.
The incident occurred at the family home at approximately 3:00 PM.
The court heard that the accused, who is the stepfather of the complainant, assaulted her while she was asleep.
He covered her mouth and nose to restrain her, before proceeding with the assault.
The victim, unable to resist due to her mental condition, later disclosed the incident to a family member, leading to investigations.
Your excellency We are a trade union, National Mine Workers Union of Zimbabwe which represents workers in the mining sector.
We are writing this petition letter after taking into consideration the increasing number of workers abuse and blatant disregard of labour laws by all Chinese nationals on Zimbabwe mining workers who are our constituency we represent.
The research we have done as a trade union has revealed that some Chinese management in the mining sector are exposing local workers to slavery working conditions.
Below is the list of companies which we found to be engaging in unfair labour practices across the country. 1 Rundu Mine Chegutu 2 Dinson Mine Manhidze Mashonaland East 3 Dinson Mine Mutare 4 Dinson Mine Hwange 5 Young Africa Shurugwi 6 Leview Mine Penhalonga 7 Lang Chang Odzi 8 KMC Harare 9 Best trade Muzondiwa Zvishavane 10Best Trade Marishonga Shurugwi 11 Goldmore Nyathi Bulawayo 12 Ching She kwekwe 13 Ndarama ching 14 DGL nyathi Bulawayo 15 Sino Ferry Shurugwi 16Ladville Shurugwi 17 Chengete ching Boterengwa Shurugwi 18 Best Copy Lalapanzi 19 Zimbabwe coking coal Company 20 Ming Chang Makaha 21 Ming Chang Kwekwe 22 Ming Chang Mashava
We have instances where workers in the sector are being under paid, working under inhuman conditions, the Chinese employers in most instances not giving employees the requisite protective material, thereby compromising their health and safety- a yardstick to Zimbabwe’s Labour law.
What irks us most as a trade union is that there have been reports across the mining sector where workers are beaten, dehumanised, threatened and even killed upon asking for their wages dues. They also don’t allow workers to join unions which is violation of international labour standards. This has been reported in the local media.
We are therefore requesting your esteemed office to investigate violation of Zimbabwe laws by these Chinese officials in the mining sector and take appropriate measures. We believe that this will promote industrial harmony and economic growth in the country.
We are dismayed that if the trend of abuse of local employees in the mining sector continues we will be left with no other option except to picket at your embassy we are patriotic sons and daughters of Zimbabwe and we will not tolerate things likely to destabilise our nation and cause instability in the country and have economic repercussions in the mining sector, which is one of the backbone of the country’s economy. We believe workers are the backbone of this nation if they can’t breathe we’ll be left with no option except to defend our zones of autonomy as employees and as a union.
We will be very grateful if you take note of our concerns.
A 50-year-old married teacher, Nyasha Gambe, from Mutimwi Secondary School in Zaka, died at his alleged girlfriend’s house, it has emerged.
According to police in Zaka, Gambe had contacted his girlfriend, Laina Chimutsa (34), around 10:30 PM, stating his intention to spend the night. “He called saying he wanted to stay over.”
The lover reportedly told police : “He started feeling weak and lost control of himself. I was so scared.”
Chimutsa immediately contacted Gambe’s younger brother, who rushed to the scene and helped transport him to Ndanga District Hospital.
Unfortunately, Gambe was pronounced dead on arrival.
The cause of death is still unclear, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A source close to the matter attributed Gambe’s death to neglecting his medication for high blood pressure and diabetes, exacerbated by excessive alcohol consumption on the day of the incident.
Zimbabwean soccer fans will have to travel to South Africa to watch the Warriors play Benin in their Group C World Cup qualifier next month.
The match will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced that the stadium was chosen after Polokwane, the initial venue, was allocated to Bafana Bafana. Other stadiums in Johannesburg and Cape Town were unavailable due to prior commitments.
According to ZIFA, the Moses Mabhida Stadium offers ideal conditions for the Warriors’ playing style. The association is urging Zimbabwean fans to attend the match in large numbers and support the team in their quest for World Cup qualification.

Mhofu warned that Zimbabwe should not be underestimated by their opponents, including Egypt and Angola. “Football is stubborn, and anyone who looks down on us does so at their own risk,” he said.
By A Correspondent | ZANU PF has signed the final papers to expel firebrand war veteran Blessed Geza and Gifford Gomwe from the party.
The decision was approved late Wednesday, correspondence seen by ZimEye shows.
Gomwe and Geza face expulsion as the 2030 cabal from Mash West province recommended their dismissal to the ZANU PF National Disciplinary Committee.
Gomwe is the younger brother of Godwin recently pictured with Cde Geza.
The committee will then forward the papers to the politburo for endorsements. Soon after this, the decision will be escalated for announcement by party spokesman Christopher Mutsvangwa.

By Munacho Gwanda – Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was in Mutare on Wednesday when military tanks were seen in Harare.
Chiwenga was attending the funeral of Sekuru Leonard “Mwatambandini” Kashiri, the father-in-law of Zanu PF National Chairman and Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
Rumours circulated that Chiwenga could have been responsible for deploying more than 20 army tanks onto the streets of Harare to intimidate President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the two battled for control of Zanu PF.
More than 20 military tanks were spotted in Harare’s Borrowdale area, fueling speculation about a possible coup, especially amid deepening divisions within the ruling party.
The sudden and unusual movement of military hardware mirrors events leading up to the 2017 coup when soldiers were first seen patrolling streets before tanks were deployed to strategic locations, including Parliament and police stations, to disarm the police force, which had become Mugabe’s de facto paramilitary wing.
Back then, the coup was orchestrated by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) under the leadership of then-General Constantino Chiwenga, with the backing of key military figures such as the late Air Marshal Perrence Shiri and retired General Sibusiso Moyo.
The military’s intervention was triggered by Mugabe’s decision to fire Mnangagwa as Vice President, a move widely seen as paving the way for his wife, Grace Mugabe, to take power.
This alienated war veterans and the military, prompting their intervention.
Mugabe was placed under house arrest, and within days, he was forced to resign, ushering in Mnangagwa as the new president.
Despite growing unease, government officials have dismissed concerns of a coup.
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba, posting under his pseudonym dhonzamusoro007 on social media, stated that the movement of military tanks in Harare was part of routine drills.
However, these assurances have done little to quell fears, especially in light of reports by ZimEye suggesting that a coup may be in the making.
Adding to the anxiety, recent remarks by war veteran and Zanu PF Central Committee member Blessing Geza have intensified speculation.
Geza, a former liberation war fighter with deep military connections, has publicly declared that war veterans will take drastic steps to remove Mnangagwa.
His ultimatum has fueled speculation that a military faction loyal to Chiwenga may be preparing to take action against the president.
Reports suggest that senior military officials and war veterans have held secret meetings to strategize ways to block Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his rule beyond his current term under the controversial #ED2030 agenda.
Sources indicate that the rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has reached a breaking point, with Chiwenga’s faction believing that Mnangagwa has reneged on a 2017 coup agreement that allegedly promised Chiwenga the presidency after Mnangagwa’s first term.
Unlike Mugabe in 2017, Mnangagwa has spent years consolidating his grip on power.
He has appointed loyalists to key military positions, purged officials perceived as Chiwenga allies, and neutralized potential rivals within Zanu PF.
Many key figures from the 2017 coup, including Perrence Shiri and Paradzai Zimondi, have died under suspicious circumstances, fueling speculation that Mnangagwa orchestrated their eliminations to weaken Chiwenga’s support base.
Despite these maneuvers, Chiwenga remains influential within the security forces, and reports suggest that a faction of the military and war veterans still see him as Zimbabwe’s rightful leader.
A recent high-level meeting reportedly took place in Mashonaland Central, a province known for political upheavals and strong opposition to Mnangagwa.
Sources close to the discussions claim that many within the military are disillusioned with Mnangagwa’s leadership and are actively plotting against him.
One insider revealed: “You hear what credible war veterans like Blessing Geza are saying. He is not hallucinating; he is communicating a message from the script, and you must listen to him carefully.”
While Mnangagwa has fortified his control over intelligence and security agencies, Zimbabwe’s political landscape remains unpredictable.
If discontent within the military reaches a breaking point, even a well-entrenched president can be overthrown.
With tensions between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga escalating and war veterans openly voicing their grievances, Zimbabwe may be on the verge of yet another military-led political upheaval.
Whether the growing military presence is indeed a precursor to a coup or simply routine drills, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining the nation’s trajectory.
Sekuru Kashiri passed away last Friday at the age of 103.
Chiwenga attended the funeral with several high-ranking Zanu PF officials, including Deputy President of the Senate, Lieutenant General (Rtd) Mike Nyambuya, as well as Ministers Misheck Mugadza, Mariam Chombo, and Supa Mandiwanzira.
By Munacho Gwamanda-Fears of an imminent coup are growing in Zimbabwe as uniformed soldiers have been spotted in various growth points and rural areas, raising concerns of a military intervention reminiscent of the 2017 coup that led to the ouster of former President Robert Mugabe.
Reports indicate that soldiers were seen this afternoon at Nyika growth point, while earlier in the day, more than 20 military tanks were spotted in Harare’s Borrowdale area.
The sight of such a heavy military presence has fueled speculation about a possible coup, especially amid deepening divisions within the ruling ZANU-PF party.
The sudden and unusual movement of military hardware mirrors events leading up to the 2017 coup when soldiers were first seen patrolling streets before military tanks were deployed to strategic locations, including Parliament and police stations, to disarm police officers who had become Mugabe’s de facto paramilitary force.

However, these assurances have done little to quell fears, especially in light of reports by ZimEye suggesting that a coup may be in the making.
Adding to the anxiety, a viral video featuring an unnamed prophet predicting a bloody military takeover has intensified speculation. The prophet warns:
“The Lord has spoken, and I must pray for Zimbabwe. I saw another coup—one that will bring chaos and bloodshed. This will not be like before; this time, there will be much suffering, and many lives will be lost. I saw the current government being overthrown, and in its place, violence and turmoil will arise. The Bible commands us to pray for those in authority, and now more than ever, Zimbabwe needs our prayers.”
This prophecy suggests that a secret deal regarding leadership succession has collapsed, escalating the power struggle within ZANU-PF to a critical point.
The warnings from religious leaders align with increasing political tensions, particularly following recent remarks by war veteran and ZANU-PF Central Committee member Blessing Geza.

By A Correspondent| Fossil Mines has been ousted as the major shareholder in Khaya Cement following a crucial creditors’ meeting held on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to recover from financial distress.
Khaya Cement has faced mounting challenges since being placed under restrictive measures by the United States government. These sanctions led to the drying up of credit lines and the withdrawal of key financial backers, plunging the cement manufacturer into a crisis.
At Wednesday’s meeting, stakeholders approved a roadmap towards reviving the company, which was placed under corporate rescue in December last year. The plan, presented by corporate rescue practitioner Mr. Bulisa Mbano, aims to resuscitate operations and restore confidence among investors and creditors.
Hope for Recovery
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Mbano expressed optimism about the company’s future, emphasizing that the resolutions adopted must now be implemented effectively.
“The meeting went on well, and it is our hope that the resolutions for the rescue plan will be implemented according to our timelines for the benefit of investors and creditors,” he said.
He underscored the importance of continued engagement with creditors as a critical step toward Khaya Cement’s revival.
“It is our hope that what we have managed to gather today will set the tone for the entity’s recovery. Of course, there are challenges, but meaningful engagements are key to addressing real issues and finding solutions,” he added.
Path to Stability
The high turnout of creditors and investors at the meeting reflected strong interest in safeguarding Zimbabwe’s cement supply and ensuring self-reliance in the sector. The approved plan is expected to provide a clear path to stabilizing operations and securing the company’s long-term viability.
In 2022, Fossil Mines acquired a 76.45% stake in the then Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe Limited from Associated International Cement Limited, a member of the Holcim Group. The company was later rebranded as Khaya Cement.
However, shortly after the acquisition, the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions on Fossil Agro, Fossil Contracting, and the company’s owner, Obey Chimuka. These measures severely restricted the company’s ability to access international financial support, contributing to its current struggles.
By A Correspondent| Bryden Country School in Mashonaland West’s Chegutu Town is fighting against the construction of a cement manufacturing project with the capacity of 800,000 tons per annum earmarked to employ at 800 directly at full capacity, this publication reports.
The investment is by Shuntai Investments Private Limited (Shuntai). This comes as Zimbabwe battles a shortage of cement and high cost to develop economy, having to rely on imports, which are also being smuggled as local manufacturers fail to meet growing demand.
Solar bohole installation at new himes for the resettled
Besides the Chegutu 800,000 tons per annum cement manufacturing project, the company is also planning to build a large-scale cement and lime factory in Bindura district, which consists of a 1,200,000 tons per annum cement production line and a 600,000 tons per annum lime production line.
In Bulawayo, we will build a grinding station with the capacity of 400,000 tons cement per annum. By then, the company will be able to provide a joint production of 3,000,000 tons of cement and lime and create more than thousands of jobs for the local communities. The cement and lime will satisfy the requirement of the building industry and metallurgical industry, in the meantime, will facilitate the fast growth of the relevant industries in the country.
Staff accomodation construction now underway on site
Despite having been furnished with documentation last year, the primary school authorities sensationally allege exclusion from consultative processes, including an ongoing environmental impact assessment. As a result, the school took to social media, decampaigning the project and mobilizing parents and the community against the cement plant.
Indications are that Bryden authorities fear possible dust or air pollution, noise pollution, and water pollution and are also concerned about traffic movement, given the proximity of the school to the project.
Shuntai general manager Bin Zhou allayed all fears, saying the cement plant uses the latest technology,, which keeps noise, air and water pollution well below stipulated standards in the country.
“This technology is quite advanced and traps air at an efficiency of 95%, it also uses equipment that is near silent to the extent one doesn’t hear much noise within our boundaries and the plant design uses underground water which will be recycled and used over and over again with the little that will be disposed of used to water our small gardens,” he told this publication.
Zhou said the company is open to input from all stakeholders as it finalizes its mine plan for implementation once all approvals are in place.
“We are flexible and open to improvements where possible and, of course, subject to approvals from authorities. We even met the Bryden board on Monday where, among other things, we agreed on constructing a road as far away from the school as possible and keeping the school updated on every stage.”
Shuntai on Monday held a meeting at Bryden and toured the school thereafter. The meeting was chaired by Bryden board chairman Ahmed Noor.
Giving an update, Zhou said the company went on site in late January and is currently constructing staff accommodation. In the current phase, the project employs 250 workers, the majority of whom are locals.
He also said the company has already built modern houses for at least 14 families that were relocated and compensated.
“The community gets priority and they get first preference on all unskilled labour and where they have skills that are required elsewhere. We also plan to ensure women are given are prioritized across all departments,”Zhou added.
Once all approvals are secured, construction of the plant is expected to take 10 months to start production of cement.
Zanu PF Chief Whip, Pupurai Togarepi, has firmly declared that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will remain in office beyond 2028, despite speculation surrounding his political future.
In an interview with Studio 7 on Tuesday, Togarepi addressed questions about Mnangagwa’s leadership, stating that the president’s tenure is secure and that the people of Zimbabwe, particularly Zanu PF members, support his continued rule.
Togarepi responded directly, “Aiwa ndofunga imi vatori venhau makabvunza munhu asiri iye. Tiri kutora nyaya kumunhu asiri muridzi wenyaya. Muridzi wenyaya imember dzeZanu PF neruzhinji kunze uko vari kuti President taona zvamaita toda kuti murambe muchititungamira.”
In English, Togarepi explained, “No, I think you journalists are asking the wrong person. You are taking the issue to someone who is not the rightful owner of the matter. The rightful owners of this issue are Zanu PF members and the people outside who want the President to continue leading us.”
Togarepi’s comments underline the Zanu PF party’s support for Mnangagwa and suggest that any talk of his departure is not only premature but also disconnected from the wishes of the party and its supporters. This statement comes amidst ongoing political discussions and the general perception of Mnangagwa’s leadership beyond the upcoming 2028 elections.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested three individuals, including a Zanu PF councillor, for allegedly stealing and selling Presidential agricultural inputs.
Chishamiso Linda Ellah, the Councillor for Ward 11 in Makoni District, alongside Enita Choga, a former Grain Marketing Board (GMB) employee, and Crispen Makoni have since appeared Mutare Magistrate, Annie Ndiraya and were remanded out of custody on US$200.00 bail.
They face a charge of theft as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9:23.
The trio allegedly conspired to divert 400 bags of 50kg fertiliser worth US$12 000.00 and sold to buyers in Rusape.
The much-anticipated refurbishment of Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo has taken a new turn as Zanu PF heavyweights are determined to seize control of the process.
Sources within the ruling party revealed that the project will only move forward under their leadership, despite Masvingo City Council’s recent announcement of significant progress.
In a statement on Tuesday, Masvingo City Council excitedly shared news of their collaboration with The Heart Group of Companies to refurbish Mucheke Stadium and build a new, state-of-the-art sports facility in the city.
The city’s initiative was framed as part of efforts to enhance the sports sector and provide a platform for local athletes.
However, insiders within Zanu PF have made it clear that they plan to take charge of the project. “We will be taking over the whole process very soon. Remember the stadium is for the community, and our votes come from the people, so we will definitely take charge of the refurbishment of Mucheke Stadium. It’s a Zanu PF project after all,” a senior party official declared.
The statement from Masvingo City Council acknowledged the significance of the project, which is seen as a major step forward for the city’s sports-driven initiatives and investments. “This collaboration will add value to the city and ensure a platform that gives athletes exposure and contributes to Masvingo’s thriving sporting industry,” the Council said.
Despite the city’s enthusiasm for the partnership with The Heart Group, Zanu PF’s intentions suggest the ruling party intends to dominate the refurbishment efforts, positioning themselves at the forefront of the project. This move, while not officially confirmed, raises questions about the involvement of political influence in the development of public facilities.

By Munacho Gwamanda-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba, confirmed the presence of military tanks in Harare and said they were preparing for drills.
More than 20 military tankers were spotted in Harare’s Borrowdale area Wednesday morning in a scene eerily reminiscent of the events leading up to the 2017 coup that ousted former President Robert Mugabe.
This sudden and unusual movement of military hardware has fueled speculation of another possible coup amid deepening divisions within Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF.
The government, however, has downplayed the situation, with Charamba posting on social media as dhonzamusoro007, stating that the tanks’ presence is part of routine military drills.
In a message on social media, Charamba urged the public to support the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), stating:
“Support your Zimbabwe Defence Force, ZDF, as it goes through the routine of ensuring all its battle systems are in tip-top state!!! #ZDF, KEEPING YOU SECURE AND DEFENDED.”
Despite these assurances, political tensions are at an all-time high following reports by ZimEye that a coup may be in the making.
A viral video featuring an unnamed prophet predicting a bloody military takeover has added to the growing anxiety.
In the video, the prophet declares:
“The Lord has spoken, and I must pray for Zimbabwe. I saw another coup—one that will bring chaos and bloodshed. This will not be like before; this time, there will be much suffering, and many lives will be lost. I saw the current government being overthrown, and in its place, violence and turmoil will arise. The Bible commands us to pray for those in authority, and now more than ever, Zimbabwe needs our prayers.”
The prophecy suggests that a secret deal regarding leadership succession has collapsed, fueling a power struggle that could soon lead to violent consequences.
This prediction comes on the heels of a direct threat issued by Blessing Geza, a war veteran and senior ZANU-PF Central Committee member, who has warned that Mnangagwa’s rule is under serious threat.
Geza, a former liberation war fighter with strong military connections, has publicly declared that war veterans will take drastic steps to remove Mnangagwa.
His ultimatum to the president has intensified speculation that a military faction loyal to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is preparing to take action against Mnangagwa.
Reports suggest that senior military officials and war veterans recently held secret meetings to strategize ways to block Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his rule beyond his current term under the controversial #ED2030 agenda.
Sources indicate that the rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has reached a breaking point, with Chiwenga’s faction believing Mnangagwa has reneged on a 2017 coup agreement that allegedly promised Chiwenga the presidency after Mnangagwa’s first term.
The current tensions mirror the events leading up to the 2017 military coup that ended Mugabe’s 37-year rule.
The coup was orchestrated by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) under the command of then-General Constantino Chiwenga, with the backing of key military figures such as the late Air Marshal Perrence Shiri and retired General Sibusiso Moyo.
The coup was triggered by Mugabe’s decision to fire Mnangagwa as Vice President, paving the way for his wife, Grace Mugabe, to succeed him.
This move alienated war veterans and the military, who viewed Grace as an opportunist attempting to seize power. The military intervened, placing Mugabe under house arrest and forcing his resignation.
Mnangagwa was then installed as president, with the understanding that he would serve one term before stepping aside for Chiwenga.
Since taking power, Mnangagwa has systematically sidelined Chiwenga and purged military officers loyal to him.
Many key figures from the 2017 coup, including Perrence Shiri and Paradzai Zimondi, have died under suspicious circumstances, leading to speculation that Mnangagwa orchestrated their eliminations to weaken Chiwenga’s support base.
Despite these moves, Chiwenga still commands loyalty within the security forces.
Reports suggest that military officers and war veterans aligned with him are now considering drastic measures to remove Mnangagwa, whom they accuse of entrenching power and betraying the military pact that brought him to office.
A recent high-level meeting reportedly took place in Mashonaland Central, a province known for political coups and opposition to Mnangagwa.
Sources close to the discussions claim that many within the military are disillusioned with Mnangagwa’s leadership and are actively plotting against him. One insider stated:
“You hear what credible war veterans like Blessing Geza are saying. He is not hallucinating; he is communicating a message from the script, and you must listen to him carefully.”
Adding to the uncertainty, another prominent prophet, Ian Ndlovu, has issued a stark warning about a looming coup, stating:
“We must continue to pray for our nation… Two trains are set to collide. I personally pray for peace for all ordinary Zimbabweans, but change must not be stopped, in whatever form it needs to come.”
Unlike in 2017, Mnangagwa has fortified his grip on the intelligence and security apparatus, appointing loyalists to key military positions.
He has also moved to consolidate his power within ZANU-PF by neutralizing potential rivals and securing control over key state institutions.
However, history has shown that Zimbabwe’s political landscape remains unpredictable.
If discontent within the military reaches a critical point, even a heavily fortified president can be overthrown.
With tensions between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga escalating and war veterans openly voicing their grievances, Zimbabwe may be on the brink of yet another political upheaval.

By A Correspondent| The trial of businessman Clark Makoni and his wife, Beverly, continued Friday at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, where a bank manager testified that he first met the couple when they sought to change signatories for Valley Lodge (Pvt) Ltd.
The Makonis are facing fraud charges for allegedly seizing control of the company from former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Gideon Gono and his daughter, Passion Gono, through fraudulent documentation.
Mutare ZB Bank branch manager Tonderai Karumbidza told the court he met the couple in 2017 when they approached the bank to alter account signatories.
“As part of the process, I provided them with the 14A form and the 14J6 form, which outlines requirements for signatories. They also submitted Know Your Customer (KYC) documents for processing,” Karumbidza said.
The State alleges that while ZB Bank records list the Makonis as directors, official company registration documents identify Gono and his daughter as the rightful directors.
The couple’s lawyer argued that the State must prove the Makonis authored the disputed documents and called for a handwriting analysis. However, Magistrate Stanford Mambanje dismissed the objection, saying the bank manager’s testimony established the couple’s involvement in the process.
“The State is not alleging the accused authored the documents but relies on the bank manager’s testimony regarding their submission,” Mambanje ruled.
Prosecutor Heather Mowokoto submitted the bank forms as evidence, and the trial was adjourned to Feb. 28.
According to the State, the complainant—Valley Lodge (Pvt) Ltd—hired the Makonis’ company, Ark Properties (Pvt) Ltd, in July 2017 to manage its operations. The prosecution alleges that on Aug. 10, 2017, the couple forged a CR14 form, appointing themselves as directors, and used the document to gain control of Valley Lodge’s bank accounts at ZB Bank Mutare.
The State claims the couple stole $137,736,500 from the company through their alleged fraudulent takeover.
Transcript of the Statement Issued by a Member of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces.
The following statement whose official release is due from midnight of 13th Feb 2025, has been confirmed by several members of the command element of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, who have been speaking with the ZimEye news network since January 2023.
The announcement which was first made on 3 February, is now due for official signed distribution today.
The ZDF spokesman Alphios Makotore, contacted by ZimEye over the broad statement, appeared to contradict himself when he said he does not comment on such issues. He asked saying,
“Which officer and on what subject issues?,”
He continued saying, “I don’t comment on such issues since I am no longer in that office. May kindly contact Defence Headquarters.”
The command element’s warning against the arresting of war veterans, has since been violated by ZRP Spokesperson Paul Nyathi, in a development the defence forces indicates today attracts the implementation of constitutional brute force.
FULL TEXT
(Disclaimer: This statement is issued by me as a member of the Zimbabwe Defense Forces. However, I am not representing the Zimbabwe Defense Forces as an institution.)
Thank you, commanders, for this opportunity. We will not be taking any questions at the moment but will provide a signed statement within 10 working days.
Good afternoon, fellow Zimbabweans.
Today is February 3, 2025, our time is 16:08 HRS.
Following our last address on November 13, 2017, we clearly stated that the Zimbabwe Defense Forces will uphold the Constitution and will not abandon it to be abused by a few individuals and counter-revolutionary gangsters. The Zimbabwe Defense Forces the main reason it was created is to: • Protect its people • its national security interests, and its territorial integrity • And uphold this Constitution
I would like to refer you to Section 212 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment of 2013), number 20. Please it is important to note that the Defences Forces remains a main stakeholder, in respect to the gains of the liberation struggle and when these are threatened, we are obligated to take action.
Warning to President Emmerson Mnangagwa
Firstly I would like to warn the first secretary of ZANU PF, the commander in chief of the defence forces, President Emmerson Mnangagwa that the time of killing former and serving army generals must come to an end now. This must stop forthwith. We are now aware that President Mnangagwa and Owen “Mudha” Ncube were responsible for the deaths of high-ranking army generals since 1980.
And the following souls assassinated by President Mnangagwa rest in peace: 1. Zvinavashe Vitalis 2. Mujuru Solomon 3. Gumbo Charles 4. Moyo Sibusiso 5. Shiri Perance 6. Gunda Armstrong 7. Lifa Gideon 8. Mugoba Trust 9. Nyakayaramba Douglas 10. Muleya Francis (sic) 11. Chimoyo Edzayi 12. Zimondi Paradzai 13. Chaminuka Michael
This list is endless, including all ministers who were assassinated by Mnangagwa during the reign of the late President Robert Mugabe.
We are now instituting private investigations into these deaths and bring to book everyone involved in these deaths. We will leave no stone unturned.
*********
I move on to my address to the junior officers, members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, police, prisons and central intelligence organizations. We have taken note that the current administration of President Mnangagwa has abandoned you to suffer. You have fallen into the hands of a kleptocratic rulers who treat the country Treasury as the source of wealth, spending funds on luxury goods and extravagance as they fit, many of these leaders secretly transfer public funds into secret accounts in foreign countries to provide for themselves if removed from power; the majority of you are living in abject poverty with families suffering most. We would like you to prepare to protect the Constitution from dying in the hands of these corrupt ruthless leaders. We call you tonight to take our instructions in the next few days, if our constitution continues to be killed, the majority of you are failing to send their children to school because of poverty by the current administration, this country is rich with more than 62 minerals that can transform Zimbabwe into an upper income country, if selfish leaders are removed.
A warning to the following counter revolutionary agents:
Reckless utterances by the above counter revolutionary thugs insulting veterans of the struggle including serving and retired generals, must come to an end now; Let it be known ha the end will be bloody and we mean it.
To the veterans of the liberation struggle; in terms of Section 23 subsection one of the Constitution Of Zimbabwe, amendment number 20 of 2013- the state and all institutions and agents of government at every level must accord due respect and honour and recognition to the veterans of the liberation struggle, that is to say- Part A those who fought in the liberation struggle.
Part B, those who assisted the fighters in the war of liberation struggle- The mujibas and Chimbiwdos, Part C- those who were imprisoned, detained or restricted for political reasons during the liberation struggle.
Part Two, the state must take responsible measures, including legislative measures for the welfare and economic empowerment of these veterans of the liberation struggle. We would like to warn the President Mnangagwa to clearly stay away from the war veterans. They have a right to express themselves if they feel that their constitutional rights are being infringed. We have placed surveillance on all veterans of the struggle who are speaking their minds with intention to protect them from clandestine assassination operations, which are currently being planned. Any arrest or assassination as of now, will be a declaration of war in this country. I have to repeat again, we have placed surveillance on all veterans who are speaking their mind.
We have placed surveillance on all veterans who are speaking their mind, with intention to protect them from clandestine assassination operations, which are currently being planned. Any arrest or assassination as of now will be a declaration of war in the country.
To the youth, we call upon you to realize the future of our dear country is in your hands. Do not sell out your freedom with dirty pieces of silver from filthy politicians; we would like to warn you to stay out of these succession issues; we will deal ruthlessly with all who will not follow these simple instructions. Please take time to learn from what happened in November 2017 when the late President Mugabe was abusing the Constitution together with his close allies. As a major stakeholder of Zimbabwe, we do not hesitate to deal with the youths who were committing various crimes in the name of the President. To the church and the religious organizations, we call upon you and your congregation to pray for your country and preach the gospel of peace.
To the courts- Stay away from politics. I repeat, you are an independent of arm of government, which, in terms of section 164 subsection 2, part A, which clearly states that, I quote, “neither the state nor any institution or agents of government at any level, and no other person may interfere with the functioning of the courts. Therefore, I urge you to stick to the Constitution of Zimbabwe. Do not be used to fight factional wars, as it will end in tears for some of you who will disregard the constitution of Zimbabwe.
In conclusion: we would like to put it on record that this is not a treasonous statement, as it is a statement in terms of section 212, of the constitution of Zimbabwe on functions of defense forces. As we did in November 2017 and a high court order validated the removal of the late president of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe when he and his family members and thugs surrounding him were causing suffering of the people in Zimbabwe. Therefore, we strongly warn politicians that they must not be used by greedy individuals who want to take this country to a violent confrontation; we shall be communicating with the nation through these unusual channels because of massive infiltration of President Mnangagwa’s secret agency within the rank of the Zimbabwe defense forces. I thank you, fellow Zimbabweans.-ZimEye
By Munacho Gwamanda-More than 20 military tankers were spotted in Harare’s Borrowdale area in a scene eerily reminiscent of the events leading up to the 2017 coup that ousted former President Robert Mugabe.
This sudden and unusual movement of military hardware has fueled speculation of another possible coup, amid deepening divisions within Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF.
The government, however, has downplayed the situation, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa spokesperson George Charamba stating that the tankers’ presence is part of routine military drills.
Support your Zimbabwe Defence Force, ZDF as it goes through the routine of ensuring all its battle systems are in tip-top state!!! #ZDF, KEEPING YOU SECURE AND DEFENDED!!!!! https://t.co/8ZGGPjdGyL

By Munacho Gwamanda- Another chilling coup prophecy has surfaced as tensions escalate within ZANU-PF, where President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, are locked in a fierce power struggle.
A viral video circulating on social media features an unnamed prophet predicting a bloody military takeover, warning that the internal power struggles within the ruling party could soon erupt into full-scale violence.
In the video, the prophet declares:
“The Lord has spoken, and I must pray for Zimbabwe. I saw another coup—one that will bring chaos and bloodshed. Thiswill not be like before; this time, there will be much suffering, and many lives will be lost.
I saw the current government being overthrown, and in its place, violence and turmoil will arise. The Bible commands us to pray for those in authority, and now more than ever, Zimbabwe needs our prayers.
The Lord revealed to me that a deal was made, but it did not go well. One side agreed to step down and hand over power, but now, they refuse to let go. Because of this, a coup is brewing—a dangerous storm is on the horizon.
We must stand together in prayer and call upon the hand of God to intervene. Let us lift our voices and declare: ‘In the name of Jesus, we pray for Zimbabwe! May peace reign, and may God’s will be done. Amen!’”
This prophecy comes in the wake of Blessing Geza, a war veteran and senior ZANU-PF Central Committee member, issuing a direct threat against President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Geza has publicly stated that he will soon reveal the steps war veterans will take to remove Mnangagwa, further escalating tensions within the ruling party.
Geza, known for his close ties to powerful factions within the military, recently gave Mnangagwa an ultimatum to resign, warning that failure to do so would lead to drastic action.
His statements have added weight to the growing belief that Mnangagwa is losing control over the security forces that helped him seize power in 2017.
Adding to the anxiety, another prominent prophet, Ian Ndlovu, has also issued a chilling prophecy of a coup, cautioning that Zimbabwe’s deepening power struggle could soon spiral out of control.
“We must continue to pray for our nation… Two trains are set to collide. I personally pray for peace for all ordinary Zimbabweans, but change must not be stopped, in whatever form it needs to come,” Ndlovu warned in a now-viral video.
Reports indicate that a group of high-ranking military officials and war veterans recently held a secret meeting to discuss ways to block Mnangagwa’s attempts to extend his rule beyond his current term under the controversial #ED2030 agenda.
A powerful military faction loyal to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is said to be behind the plot.
Sources close to the discussions reveal that many within the security forces and war veteran community believe Mnangagwa has betrayed the 2017 coup pact, which allegedly included an agreement for him to serve only one term before handing over power to Chiwenga.
A secret meeting reportedly took place in Mashonaland Central, a province historically known as a hub for political coups. The province has long been a stronghold for anti-Mnangagwa elements within ZANU-PF and the military, particularly those loyal to Chiwenga.
A source close to the faction stated:
“You hear what credible war veterans like Blessing Geza are saying. He is not hallucinating; he is communicating a message from the script, and you must listen to him carefully.”
This is not the first time that power struggles within Zimbabwe’s ruling elite have led to political upheaval and bloodshed.
The late Air Force Commander Perrence Shiri—who played a crucial role in the 2017 coup against Robert Mugabe—was known for holding secret meetings with allies such as Paradzai Zimondi and Bindura South MP Remigious Matangira at the Bindura Arcadia Dam.
Both Shiri and Zimondi died under mysterious circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic, with speculation suggesting that Mnangagwa may have orchestrated their deaths to weaken potential challengers.
Despite Mnangagwa’s purge of senior military officers linked to Chiwenga, tensions continue to simmer within the security forces, with many still loyal to Chiwenga and deeply resentful of Mnangagwa’s growing authoritarianism.
Unlike in 2017, Mnangagwa has strengthened his grip over Zimbabwe’s intelligence agencies and placed loyalists in key military positions. However, history has shown that Zimbabwe’s political landscape is unpredictable, and even a heavily fortified president can be overthrown if military discontent reaches a breaking point.
The rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has widened over the years, with the Vice President increasingly sidelined from key government and party structures.
It is in my interest as a perty cadre to request your intervention to stop the presser as scheduled at Zanu Pf HeadQauters by the Provincial Chairman Cde Mary Mliswa. It is alleged that the presser is meant to denounce cde Gezi a central committee member of Mashonaland West Province. In my view Cde Gezi and his team spoke on their own behalf which demonstrate level of democracy in Zimbabwe and the right to freedom of speech and expression as enshrined in the constitution of the land. If we let that presser to be done are we not putting the name of the party in disrepute as well as destroying the image of the first secretary. National Headquaters should not be used to pursue provincial agendas which they can also solve or make decisions in their respective provinces. Denouncing Cde Geza’s statements as a Party are we also not going against fundamental human rights. Mashonaland West as province should deal with their issues in their province and also to note mobilisation of party structures or general people is a sole responsibility of commissariate department not the chairman. The President is clear on many and several times that vision 2030 should not be disturbed. Going for a presser as a party are we not distabilizing the political enviromment which in turn affects economic growth and non realisation of vision 2030.
I hope my concern as a party cadre will be considered.

By Minacho Gwamanda-The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has announced that the deadline for registering for the June and November 2025 examinations will be March 10 and March 24, respectively.
The examination body has urged candidates to complete the process at their nearest school or examination centre before the deadlines lapse.
In a statement, ZIMSEC confirmed that examination fees have been pegged in US dollars, with a Government subsidy available for candidates in public schools, local authority schools, and non-profit mission schools.
However, private candidates, students attending private schools, and those retaking subjects will be required to pay the full amount.
Under the new fee structure, O’ Level candidates will pay US$24 per subject, with the Government subsidising US$13, leaving eligible students to cover US$11 per subject.
A’ Level candidates will be required to pay US$48 per subject, with a Government subsidy of US$26, reducing the amount to US$22 for qualifying students.
Payments can be made in US dollars, South African Rand, or Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) at the prevailing interbank rate as of March 10, 2024, for the June session and March 24, 2024, for the November session.
ZIMSEC also clarified that the Government will subsidise up to seven subjects for O’ Level candidates and four subjects, including Communication Skills, for A’ Level candidates.
However, the subsidy will not apply to candidates retaking subjects, and students on the Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) will not receive financial aid for repeat exams.
The registration announcement comes against a backdrop of mounting concerns over the effectiveness of the new education curriculum introduced in recent years, which has been linked to a sharp decline in national pass rates.
The Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), introduced in 2017, sought to modernise the education system by integrating practical learning, continuous assessment, and digital literacy.
However, many teachers, students, and parents have raised concerns over its implementation challenges, lack of resources, and increased workload.
ZIMSEC’s most recent results revealed a worrying trend of declining performance, with the 2023 O’ Level pass ratedropping to 27.57%, down from 28.96% in 2022.
Similarly, A’ Level results showed a dip in performance, with many candidates struggling in science and mathematics subjects.
Education experts have attributed the poor performance to several factors, including:
A shortage of qualified teachers trained to deliver the new curriculum effectively.
Inadequate learning materials, particularly in rural schools.
Economic hardships that make it difficult for parents to afford exam fees and supplementary learning resources.
Frequent disruptions in the school calendar, including COVID-19 lockdowns and teacher strikes over low salaries.
As the exam registration deadline nears, students, parents, and education stakeholders are urging the Government and ZIMSEC to re-evaluate the curriculum’s impact and address the factors contributing to declining pass rates.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians have been advised to check with their respective schools or examination centres for specific registration details.
“Stakeholders are encouraged to contact their respective centres for registration closing dates to avoid any inconvenience,” ZIMSEC stated.
With the exam season approaching, students are encouraged to register early and take advantage of the Government subsidies.
For further details, candidates have been urged to visit their nearest school, examination centre, or the official ZIMSEC website.
The Zanu PF government has once again showcased its political maneuvering through the introduction of the “Goats4ED” initiative, a scheme presented under the guise of rural empowerment in the Midlands Province. This move is being heralded as a way to “uplift livelihoods” while conveniently aligning with the political agenda of President Mnangagwa and his party ahead of key political milestones.
The programme, formally launched this Monday at Vungwi Primary School in Shurugwi district, saw 100 goats distributed among 300 women from eight districts, who were handpicked to benefit from the Young Women 4ED goat pass-on scheme. The event was presented as an example of the government’s commitment to empowering rural communities, but many observers see it as a strategic attempt to bolster Zanu PF’s image and secure political loyalty.
One beneficiary praised the initiative, saying, “These goats will play a crucial role in changing livelihoods, especially here in remote areas, and we want to thank the government for this initiative.” Another added, “As young women, we are excited and hopeful for a better future from this gesture. This will surely empower us economically.” However, critics argue that such schemes are part of a broader political strategy to rally support for the ruling party under the banner of “economic empowerment,” while failing to address the structural issues that perpetuate poverty in rural areas.
The Young Women 4ED group, led by National Chairperson Honourable Tatenda Mavetera, was quick to endorse the programme, urging women to take full advantage of such government initiatives. Mavetera’s rhetoric, however, seemed to focus more on political alignment than genuine empowerment. She stated, “I want to take this opportunity to urge and implore ladies to take advantage of these government programmes. I believe this programme will leave you empowered economically.”
Government officials were eager to tie the scheme to broader development goals, with Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Owen Ncube touting it as a vital step toward achieving an upper-middle-income society by 2030. “We are happy with programmes that are being spearheaded by Young Women 4ED because they complement the government’s vision,” he declared. Yet, such statements are widely seen as political posturing, aimed at securing both financial and electoral support from rural constituencies.
In reality, the goat pass-on scheme is designed to boost the economic participation of small-scale women farmers—yet, its rollout coincides with a critical period in the lead-up to elections. While the stated objective is to empower women, many are left wondering if the true intent is to garner political advantage under the guise of rural development. The scheme’s ability to mitigate climate change and improve livelihoods, as suggested by government officials, remains to be seen, particularly in light of the ongoing economic challenges facing Zimbabwe’s rural communities.
Critics remain skeptical about the program’s long-term impact on rural development, questioning whether it is merely another political gimmick designed to maintain the ruling party’s hold over the electorate in an election year.
A shocking turn of events led to the tragic death of a 22-year-old man at a local tavern in Philippolis, outside Bloemfontein in the Free State. The incident occurred on February 15, 2025, at approximately 01:30, during a heated game of pool.
A dispute erupted between two men over a mere R5 coin, escalating into violence. The 22-year-old suspect allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed the victim in the neck. The wounded man stumbled out of the tavern, only to be found lying lifeless on the pavement.
Police were swiftly summoned to the scene, and with the help of the community, they managed to apprehend the suspect. The 22-year-old is now facing a murder charge and is expected to appear before the Philippolis Magistrates’ Court.
This senseless tragedy highlights the devastating consequences of unchecked anger and aggression .

On February 6, ActZim issued a 40-day ultimatum for President Mnangagwa to address the nation, warning that failure to do so would result in a public revolt. Following the President’s recent media briefing on this issue, ActZim wishes to voice its concerns:
Lack of Seriousness: The President’s choice to address only the media, rather than directly addressing the nation, signals a lack of seriousness regarding this crucial issue. This approach seems to be an attempt to alleviate growing pressure while formulating other strategies.
Delayed Response: The prolonged delay in the President’s response to the issue has resulted in significant tension and emotional unrest across the country.
Political Pressures: ActZim believes that the President’s decision to speak through “Editors” may have been influenced by internal factional dynamics within Zanu-PF or simply a response to mounting public pressure.
Reluctance to Leave Office: ActZim is concerned that the President only clarified his intentions after being pressed by journalists. This delay in transparency suggests a reluctance on his part to step down.
Ongoing Vigilance: ActZim will continue to closely monitor the situation and remains vigilant, ready to take further action should President Mnangagwa attempt to revive his agenda for a term extension.
ActZim’s response highlights growing frustrations with Mnangagwa’s handling of the 2030 issue.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has publicly distanced himself from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, denying any involvement in his financial dealings or lavish lifestyle.
During a media briefing at State House in Harare on Monday, Mnangagwa addressed questions about his connection to Chivayo, whose business practices have sparked widespread scrutiny.
“I’m not aware of any financial ties between myself and Mr. Chivayo,” Mnangagwa stated. “It’s essential to investigate the source of his wealth, rather than speculating about our relationship.”
When asked about Chivayo’s high-profile donations, including vehicles given to individuals and celebrities, Mnangagwa reiterated his distance from the businessman’s actions.
“Let’s focus on uncovering the truth behind his wealth, rather than making assumptions.”
Mnangagwa also hinted at the possibility of illicit activities surrounding Chivayo’s wealth. “It’s possible that his wealth may have been acquired through questionable means, but that’s for the authorities to investigate.”
The President’s comments come amid ongoing controversy surrounding Chivayo, who faces allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.
Mnangagwa’s public disavowal marks a clear attempt to distance himself from the businessman, whose actions have become a source of political embarrassment for the ruling party.
Pressure group ActZim has expressed its dissatisfaction with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s media briefing held on Monday.
The President addressed editors at State House, where he claimed that he would respect the constitution.
Mnangagwa also claimed he would step down at the end of his term of office.

I told Simon Chimbetu and even his son, @suluchimbetu, and Andy Brown to avoid ZANU PF. Andy Brown killed his talent by aligning self with ZANU PF, says @JenaguruVhttps://t.co/fVkoN7fZ3E

By Munacho Gwamanda-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched a fresh push for his 2030 agenda, even as he publicly insists that he will step down at the end of his second term in 2028.
Just last Monday, Mnangagwa told a select group of journalists that he would retire after completing his two constitutional terms.
However, his allies within Zanu PF, led by his so-called investment advisor Paul Tungwarara, are aggressively campaigning for his continued rule beyond 2028.
Tungwarara has been at the forefront of this effort, leveraging state resources and financial incentives to rally support for Mnangagwa’s extended stay in power.
Last week, he was in Makoni District launching borehole projects for war veterans while publicly declaring that Mnangagwa should remain in office beyond 2028.
On Tuesday, he reportedly distributed high-end smartphones to journalists—a move that has sparked ethical concerns about media independence.
Reports from Mashonaland West indicate that Tungwarara, who has recently emerged as Mnangagwa’s de facto campaign manager for 2030, handed out over 20 smartphones, including Samsung S25 and iPhone 16 Pro models, to journalists in the province.
Social media has since been flooded with messages from Zanu PF-aligned figures praising Tungwarara’s “generosity.” One user, @TinotendaGacha1, posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Thank you, Dr. Tungwarara, for your generous donation of 20 high-tech phones to journalists. Your commitment to enhancing digital communication and supporting media professionals is commendable. This initiative will undoubtedly aid in better showcasing the achievements of the Second Republic. We also appreciate the establishment of the journalist fund and the provision of monthly stipends to comrades for promoting EDWORKS. Your efforts are truly making a difference.”

In a move aimed at enhancing digital communication, the donation will facilitate social media engagement and reporting. It will be used to showcase the accomplishments and initiatives of the Second Republic, led by H.E. President ED Mnangagwa.”
Beyond the smartphone giveaways, reports suggest that 32 journalists are now receiving a $300 monthly stipend for promoting “EDWORKS,” a propaganda campaign supporting Mnangagwa’s leadership.
A special fund has also been set up to reward journalists actively engaged in pro-Mnangagwa social media campaigns.
Efforts to contact Tungwarara for comment were unsuccessful, while the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists has yet to respond to concerns over media ethics and the independence of journalists accepting such incentives.
Tungwarara’s rise within Mnangagwa’s inner circle has been rapid, particularly after his appointment last year as Special Presidential Investment Advisor to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
His growing influence comes at a time when Mnangagwa’s public declarations of stepping down in 2028 have failed to quell speculation about succession battles within Zanu PF.
The UAE has been central to multiple corruption allegations involving Mnangagwa’s regime. The Al Jazeera Gold Mafia exposé implicated Mnangagwa’s close associates in illicit gold smuggling, with strong ties to Dubai-based networks.
The investigation suggested that Zimbabwe’s ruling elite have been laundering gold through the UAE, bypassing official channels and siphoning national wealth.
Mnangagwa’s frequent use of a UAE-provided private jet for his international travel has further fueled speculation about his deep financial ties to the Gulf state.
Observers have drawn parallels between Tungwarara’s growing influence and that of controversial cleric Uebert Angel, who was exposed in the Gold Mafia documentary as a key figure in the regime’s illicit financial dealings.
Tungwarara’s involvement in high-value projects—including a multimillion-dollar borehole drilling initiative targeting war veterans aligned with Mnangagwa—indicates a strategic positioning in the ruling party’s internal battles.
This comes as Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is reportedly consolidating power in anticipation of Mnangagwa’s eventual exit.
Chiwenga, the former military general who led the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe and installed Mnangagwa, has long been seen as a potential successor.
However, Mnangagwa’s manoeuvring—through figures like Tungwarara—suggests he is working to extend his political control beyond his presidency.
With Tungwarara now overseeing major political and economic initiatives, his role in shaping the post-Mnangagwa era cannot be ignored.
His connections to the UAE, suspected involvement in gold dealings, and financial influence over the media raise critical concerns about governance integrity and the high-stakes power struggle unfolding within Zanu PF.

By Shelton Muchena | Just like the hit ‘Kutonga Kwaro”, music lovers or rather political fanatics woke up to another prophecy ‘hidden’ in song, this time as ‘mandionei’ unexpectedly dropped on social media. Fans and critics alike gathered around screens, eager to dissect the lyrics that seemed to weave a tale beyond mere entertainment. The song echoed a warning, a firm, rhythmic heartbeat that resonated with the political landscape of Zimbabwe. Jah Prayzah, with his trademark fusion of contemporary beats and traditional melodies, channelled the voice of the disenchanted. The lyrics were a clarion call, an impassioned reminder to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his inner circle: “Mandionei,” translated to “What will you do when the time comes?” rang like a warning bell against the backdrop of mounting corruption and political upheaval.
Hints of dissent had long simmered beneath the surface, igniting speculation about the loyalties in the ruling party. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, once deemed a formidable pillar of power, found himself navigating treacherous waters, surrounded by whispers of betrayal. Jah Prayzah’s lyrics echoed Chiwenga’s own frustrations against those who believed themselves unassailable. These within the establishment, who had, in their hubris, underestimated the resolve of an awakened populace.
The visuals in the music video were striking—symbolism woven into every frame. Dark alleyways and bustling city streets depicted a nation in turmoil, shadows flitting across the screen like phantoms of discontent. As the camera panned, a figure draped in black stood at the forefront, their eyes blazing with fierce determination. It was a powerful metaphor for “seeing in the dark,” a call to awareness and vigilance amid the oppressive silence that shrouded the nation’s struggles. The figure was not merely an observer; they were a harbinger of change, someone who had glimpsed the truth that lay hidden beneath the corruption and deceit.
The reference to Zvigananda, the once-powerful figure now relegated to whispers of the past, evoked a sense of urgency in the lyrics. Jah Prayzah seemed to channel the unspoken fears of the country what happens when those who wield power disregard the very people they are meant to serve? Those around Mnangagwa, too, shuddered under the weight of the song’s implications, for it served as both a warning and a rallying cry.
In a twist of irony, while some officials plotted in the shadows, Jah Prayzah’s message illuminated their transgressions. The public’s collective consciousness was stirred; they were no longer mere spectators but active participants in a narrative that demanded accountability. The corrupt, lurking, like predators in the shadows felt the pulse of the people—and the rhythm of “Mandionei” became the anthem of a movement seeking justice.
As the final chorus echoed through their minds, the message rang clear: “Those who think they are untouchable will soon face the reckoning.”** The vibrant colours of the video clashed with the bleak reality, creating a juxtaposition that couldn’t be ignored. Visuals of an unseen army mobilising, reminiscent of guerrilla warfare, suggested that a fight for justice was brewing below the surface.
Social media responses surged, debates ignited, and conversations flowed like rivers. Influencers, activists, and citizens alike rallied behind the song, sharing videos and commentary that dissected its meaning. The message was unmistakable: the power of music transcended entertainment, becoming a weapon against corruption and a source of hope for the future.
In the end, Jah Prayzah’s “Mandionei” was more than just a song it was a profound reminder that in the darkest times, the light of truth and unity could still rise, challenging the goliaths of corruption and greed that threatened to engulf Zimbabwe. As the people marched forward, inspired by the melodies that dared to speak truth to power, they understood that their voices mattered in the symphony of change.
