Mnangagwa Supports Troubled Honduran Leader, Straining Diplomatic Relations

By A Correspondent

A close ally of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has publicly voiced support for Honduras’ beleaguered leader, Xiomara Castro. This endorsement is likely to exacerbate Mnangagwa’s already strained diplomatic relations with Western nations.

Taurai Kandishaya, a Zanu PF Youth League official, expressed his backing for Castro in a Facebook post over the weekend.

“In Honduras we stand with President Xiomara Castro, who is a victim of cruel attacks by the imperialists who have sown terror in the world, promoted coups, and established alliances to protect criminal groups that threaten our democracies,” Kandishaya wrote.

Kandishaya’s comments emphasize his perception of Castro as a defender of national sovereignty.

He added, “President Xiomara Castro, the daughter of Francisco Morazan, has taken a step in consolidating national independence and sovereignty.”

His post concluded with a call to action: “#DownWithImperialism Xiomara Castro De Zelaya.”

This public support for Castro, amid ongoing political turmoil in Honduras, is likely to complicate Mnangagwa’s diplomatic efforts with Western countries, which may view this endorsement as a sign of alignment with anti-Western sentiment.

As the international community watches closely, Mnangagwa’s foreign policy decisions continue to attract scrutiny and debate.

Is Zanu PF Sabotaging Masisi’s Campaign?

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF’s recent pledge to support Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi in the forthcoming elections has stirred significant controversy.

Kufa Makumbirofa responded to this development with a critical remark: “ZANU PF opened its mouth on Ramaphosa ndobva adyiwa, anything with ZANU PF link stinks.”

The controversy intensified when Taurai Kandishaya, a Zanu PF Youth League official, made a bold prediction about the elections.

On Friday, Kandishaya forecasted a decisive victory for Masisi, stirring concerns about potential external interference in Botswana’s electoral process.

Known for his strong support of Zanu PF, Kandishaya stated, “Here at home we are ZANU PF, in Botswana we are BDP,” highlighting the apparent alignment between Zimbabwe’s ruling party and Botswana’s ruling party, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), led by Masisi.

Kandishaya’s remarks signal Zanu PF’s active involvement in Botswana’s political affairs.

He also announced that the party would unveil their manifesto this weekend with the aim of securing Masisi’s victory, saying, “This weekend we are launching our Manifesto as we move to secure the victory of Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi.”

This development has fueled concerns about the extent of Zanu PF’s influence on the electoral process.

The possibility of Zanu PF using its political experience to impact the election results has raised alarms. Kandishaya’s statement exacerbates these fears.

In response, President Masisi has conveyed his confidence about the election outcomes, reflecting the BDP’s historical dominance.

“BDP is not used to losing, so come 2024 elections we will be piping them,” Masisi commented, aligning with Kandishaya’s optimistic view.

As the elections draw near, the involvement of Zanu PF in Botswana’s political landscape continues to be a focal point of debate and scrutiny, raising questions about the integrity of the electoral process.

Revealed : Mnangagwa’s Trip To China Merely For Personal Business Interests, Nothing To Do With Nation

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent trip to China, officially described as a state visit, has come under intense scrutiny following allegations that it may be serving personal rather than national interests.

Prominent political analyst Majaira Jairosi has raised concerns about the true purpose of Mnangagwa’s visit, suggesting that it primarily revolves around personal business dealings rather than diplomatic or state matters.

Jairosi took to X (formerly known as Twitter) over the weekend to make serious allegations about Mnangagwa’s activities during his trip.

In a post, Jairosi stated, “Mnangagwa & his son used a state visit to explore their personal business interests in China.

The Mnangagwa family has business interests in mining, farming, construction, fuel & transport industry. Most of these were acquired corruptly & through nepotism & cronyism.”

These claims highlight a growing concern among critics about the potential misuse of state resources and diplomatic platforms for personal gain.

Jairosi’s assertions suggest that Mnangagwa and his son may have leveraged the official visit to further their business interests, which encompass diverse sectors including mining, agriculture, and transport.

The timing of these allegations is particularly contentious.

Mnangagwa’s visit was intended to reinforce Zimbabwe’s bilateral relations with China and seek investment opportunities for the nation.

However, the revelations of possible personal motivations have overshadowed the official narrative of the trip, raising questions about transparency and accountability.

Mnangagwa’s office has yet to respond directly to these allegations.

The Zimbabwean leader’s trip was initially presented as a significant diplomatic effort aimed at strengthening economic and strategic ties with China.

However, the focus has now shifted to scrutiny of his personal and familial financial interests, casting a shadow over the official objectives of the visit.

As Zimbabwe grapples with various political and economic challenges, the implications of these allegations could be profound.

If proven accurate, they could undermine public trust in Mnangagwa’s administration and raise questions about the integrity of official state functions.

In the meantime, the controversy surrounding Mnangagwa’s trip underscores the broader issues of governance and corruption that continue to plague Zimbabwean politics.

The international community and Zimbabwean citizens alike will be watching closely to see how these allegations are addressed and whether they will affect the ongoing diplomatic and economic relations between Zimbabwe and China.

Chigumba Survives Assassination Attempt

By Political Reporter-Fresh details have emerged suggesting that the accident involving Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairperson, Justice Priscilla Chigumba, on Sunday at Mapinga may have been an assassination attempt.

Police confirmed on Monday that Chigumba was involved in an accident near Mapinga along the Harare-Chirundu Highway.

Her Toyota Landcruiser Prado was side-swiped by another vehicle, but she escaped unhurt.

Her driver sustained minor injuries.

The accident occurred when a haulage tanker reportedly crashed into three vehicles, including Chigumba’s.

Sources within the state security claim the plan was to drag and push Chigumba’s car into the Mapinga Gorge—a steep and treacherous mountain pass.

The sources suggest that the assassination attempt was orchestrated by disgruntled top military intelligence officials who opposed the Mnangagwa-led Junta administration.

This faction is reportedly seeking genuine change in Zimbabwe, with democratically elected leaders who can improve the lives of citizens.

These military officials allegedly see Chigumba as an obstacle to this change, accusing her of being complicit in electoral fraud.

“Even she (Chigumba) knows that there is a group of senior army bosses who are opposed to her being used to stifle democracy. She has had several meetings with some of these army bosses where they warned her against facilitating electoral fraud, but she said her hands are tied,” said the highly placed sources.

The sources added that these military leaders want transparency in the electoral process to ensure that no one can accuse ZEC of bias.

Chigumba’s tenure as ZEC chairperson has been marred by controversy, with accusations of bias towards the ruling Zanu PF party.

The opposition and various international observers have consistently criticized her election management, claiming that her actions undermined the credibility of Zimbabwe’s electoral process.

The 2018 and 2023 elections, in particular, were hotly disputed, with allegations of voter suppression, irregular vote counting, and using state resources to favour the incumbent.

These accusations have further tarnished Chigumba’s image, casting doubt on the impartiality and integrity of ZEC under her leadership.

Chigumba Accused Of Causing Accident That Almost Claimed Her Life And Others

By Jane Mlambo| An eye-witness has accused the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Chairperson Priscilla Chigumba of causing an accident which almost claimed many lives along Harare-Chinhoyi road.

In a video circulating on social media, an unidentified person is heard saying, “Causer we accident ndiyeyu uyu, ndiye mukonzeri uyu” while pointing at Chigumba’s Toyota Landcruiser.

The eye-witness did not however state how Chigumba caused the accident.

According to Informatiok Secretary Nick Mangwana, the accident occurred when a haulage tanker collided with three vehicles, including Justice Chigumba’s.

“Yesterday, @ZECzim Chairperson, Justice Chigumba was involved in an accident on her way from Chinhoyi when a haulage tanker crashed into three vehicles including hers. There were no fatalities from the accident and Justice Chigumba was not injured,” Mangwana said in a statement on Twitter.

Tshinga Dube Warns Against Misleading Advisors Pushing Mnangagwa to Extend His Stay in Power

By A Correspondent| Outspoken Zanu PF politburo member Tshinga Dube has cautioned Zimbabweans to be wary of those advising President Emmerson Mnangagwa to cling to power, describing them as self-serving individuals who prioritize their personal interests over the nation’s welfare.

Speaking at the burial of liberation war hero Killion Dube at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Sunday, Tshinga Dube highlighted the dangers of misguided advice to the president. Killion Dube, who played a significant role in the country’s liberation struggle, passed away from hypertension at the age of 89 on August 25.

Dube emphasized the importance of preserving Mnangagwa’s legacy, noting his significant contributions from the liberation struggle to his current role. “We don’t want to tarnish his legacy, which he has built through his dedicated service as a leader,” said Dube.

Addressing the issue of Mnangagwa’s succession, Dube stated, “There are various opinions on the succession issue. Many party members have urged him to stay in power, but he has always said he will adhere to the Constitution. While he has not expressed any intention to cling to power beyond his term, we must remember that man proposes, but God disposes.”

Dube also criticized the president’s advisors, saying, “We must be careful with the advice given to the President so that it does not serve only individual interests. These advisors risk damaging his legacy after years of hard work.”

He clarified that the upcoming Zanu PF conference is an administrative gathering, not an elective one. Dube also paid tribute to the late Killion Dube, describing him as one of the pioneers of the liberation struggle who made significant contributions, especially in the Zambezi area.

Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Judith Ncube, represented by the city’s deputy director for administration, Julious Gwatiwa, acknowledged Killion Dube’s role in the liberation struggle, stating, “Dube’s contribution brought freedom and dignity to all of us here today and to future generations.”

Tamuka Coaches Bus Accident Death Toll Rises To Five

Five people were killed in South Africa on Sunday when a Tamuka Luxury cross-border bus that had left Johannesburg for Zimbabwe earlier in the day overturned outside Mokopane town, Limpopo province with several more injured.

The accident, according to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, occurred on the N1 north towards the Nyl Plaza outside Mokopane around 5.30pm on Sunday.

Among the dead was one woman and four men.

A lot more sustained varying degrees of injuries and were ferried to hospitals in Mokopane for treatment.

The incident comes hardly a week after 10 Zimbabweans were killed with several more injured after a Mzansi Express bus that was travelling from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg was involved in a road accident near Polokwane, South Africa late Tuesday night.

MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, expressed concern over the recent accidents affecting cross-border public transport operators. She appealed to bus companies to ensure their drivers are “fit for purpose”.

ZEC Chair Priscilla Chigumba Involved in Harare-Chirundu Road Accident

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Chairperson, Justice Priscilla Chigumba, was involved in a serious car accident earlier today along the Harare-Chirundu road. The incident has sparked significant concern and reactions on social media, highlighting longstanding issues about the safety of the road.

The accident occurred as Justice Chigumba was traveling on the notoriously dangerous stretch of road, which has been the subject of numerous complaints from the public. Eyewitnesses and reports indicate that the vehicle, a Toyota SUV, sustained extensive damage in the crash, with the front section severely crumpled, the war veterans organisation, COZVWA reported.

Simba Chips, a concerned citizen, voiced frustration on Twitter, stating, “We have been telling them to fix this death trap of a road. Chirundu and Vic Falls roads are an urgent matter.” His sentiment echoes the feelings of many Zimbabweans who have long criticized the state of the country’s road infrastructure, particularly in high-traffic areas.

Others, however, took a lighter tone. Mamma Penny Ahee questioned, “Is the car ok?” while Mzukulu kana Roe added, “Is the road alright?”—comments that seem to reflect a mix of concern and a sense of irony given the condition of the road.

At the time of writing, it is unclear if Justice Chigumba sustained any injuries in the accident. There has been no official statement from the ZEC or local authorities regarding the incident. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, and further investigations are expected to follow.

The Harare-Chirundu road has been a critical issue in Zimbabwe, with many calling for immediate government intervention to prevent further accidents. Today’s incident involving such a high-profile figure could potentially reignite the debate over road safety in the country.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

How Mnangagwa Tricked Guveya

By A Correspondent

Power struggles within Zanu PF have exposed the dynamics behind the November 2017 coup that ousted the late President Robert Mugabe.

Emerging details suggest that President Emmerson Mnangagwa used his -deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, to lead the coup that ultimately secured Mnangagwa’s rise to power.

At the time of the coup, Chiwenga was the commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

Just weeks before the military intervention, Mugabe had fired Mnangagwa, prompting him to flee the country with the assistance of the military, eventually seeking refuge in South Africa.

Mugabe’s intent was clear—he wanted to jail Mnangagwa and charge him with treason for plotting against him.

However, Mnangagwa, who had been collaborating with the military for some time, leveraged Chiwenga to trigger the coup.

Chiwenga himself was also a target of Mugabe’s crackdown.

During the coup, Mnangagwa reportedly struck a gentleman’s agreement with the military, promising to rule for two terms before handing power to Chiwenga.

However, recent developments indicate that Mnangagwa is now mobilizing against Chiwenga, signalling his intent to breach that agreement.

These revelations suggest that Chiwenga, rather than being the driving force behind the coup, was merely a pawn in Mnangagwa’s strategy to ascend to the highest office in the land.

ZiG Useless, Inefficient

By Tinashe Sambiri

In a surprising turn of events, Zanu PF stalwart Killer Zivhu has criticized Zimbabwe’s new currency, ZiG, calling it ineffective and practically useless.

His comments, made in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, have sparked a wave of reactions and debate.

Zivhu’s scathing remarks highlighted his frustration with the ZiG currency, suggesting it is far from practical.

“Pakuda 50kg ye headache tablets kuti ukwanise kushandisa ZIG, ukarega unofa ne BP,” he wrote, which translates to, “You need 50 kg of headache tablets to use ZiG, otherwise you will suffer from high blood pressure.”

He further criticized the currency’s reliability, likening its value to that of ethanol sold as petrol, stating, “Ukapinda muShop ne ZIG rinopera fast kunge ethanol yatinotengeserwa tichinzi petrol,” which means, “If you enter a shop with ZiG, it vanishes quickly like ethanol sold as petrol.”

Zivhu’s comments underscore a growing discontent with the new currency among some Zimbabweans.

By branding the currency as “masaramusi chete,” meaning “pure nonsense,” he emphasizes the perceived inadequacies and challenges associated with its use.

The criticism from such a high-profile Zanu PF member adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing discussion about Zimbabwe’s economic reforms and the effectiveness of its new monetary policies.

Barcelona Bury Valladolid

Raphinha scored the first hat-trick of his career and provided two assists to inspire an imperious Barcelona to a 7-0 rout of Real Valladolid in LaLiga on Saturday.

Barcelona will go to the international break top of the table with a perfect 12 points from four games, five ahead second-placed Villarreal and seven clear of bitter rivals Real Madrid in fourth, both of whom have a game in hand.

Facing a Valladolid team who gave Madrid a tough game last weekend, Barcelona were ruthless and showed from the start why they have been Spain’s most impressive side this season under new manager Hansi Flick.

Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski gave the host a two-goal lead within four minutes with similar efforts from counterattacks, controlling long balls by Pau Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal before tidy finishes past the goalkeeper.

Jules Koundé extended the lead striking a rebound from a corner in added time before the break and, after Lewandowski hit the post, Raphinha scored twice from close range to extend Barça’s lead.

The Brazil international continued his masterclass with an assist to new signing Dani Olmo who, after hitting the post twice and missing an absolute sitter from close-range, finally managed to score in the 82nd minute in his first start for Barça.

Substitute Ferran Torres completed the drubbing from another assist by Raphinha who is second in the LaLiga top-scorer race with three goals, one behind Lewandowski.

Mnangagwa Smuggles Son into High-Profile International Government Meeting

Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has included one of his sons, Collins in an international government meeting underway in China.

The two and several government ministers are attending the week-long triennial Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Collins, who holds no official government position, was present at the high-profile event, prompting questions about his role.

Like others before, this trip appears to have blended state affairs with the Mnangagwa family’s business interests, particularly in mining, farming, construction, fuel, and transport.

Many believe these ventures have been amassed through corrupt practices, nepotism, and cronyism.

This is not the first time Mnangagwa’s inner circle, including business mogul Kuda Tagwireyi, has accompanied him on international trips.

Every time they travel abroad on a state ticket, these Mnangagwa associates, alongside his son, would negotiate personal business deals on Mnangagwa’s behalf while leveraging state resources for their own gain.

Richard Tsvangirai Follows Dad’s Footsteps

By A Correspondent

In the realm of Zimbabwean politics, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai is remembered for his unwavering commitment to the people’s interests, a trait he passed on to his son.

Richard Tsvangirai, the current Member of Parliament for Norton, is carrying forward this legacy with the same dedication to public service.

Richard Tsvangirai recently demonstrated his commitment by engaging directly with his constituents in Kingsdale. “I spent this (Saturday) morning discussing development-related issues with the residents of Kingsdale,” he shared.

His involvement was more than just a symbolic gesture; it was a testament to his father’s legacy of prioritizing people’s needs over personal gain.

The younger Tsvangirai’s approach is grounded in fostering unity and transparency, essential elements for societal progress.

“I was thrilled to see how eager the residents were to set aside their differences and concentrate on what unites them: progress,” he noted. This sentiment echoes the values that defined his father’s political career.

Richard Tsvangirai’s commitment to his role is clear. “Protecting the interests of people I serve is my main goal as a representative,” he emphasized. “I’ll do so until the end of my tenure.”

This promise underscores a dedication to serving his constituents with integrity, ensuring that their needs and interests remain at the forefront of his efforts.

In following his father’s path, Richard Tsvangirai not only honors Morgan Tsvangirai’s memory but also reinvigorates the core principles of political service that prioritize community well-being over personal ambition.

Govt Says It’s Blown USD1,7 Billion For SADC Summit Roads, Money Full Enough to Spaghetti-fy The Whole Country’s Roads

Government Under Scrutiny After US$1.7 Billion Road Rehabilitation Spend Ahead of SADC Summit

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | The Zimbabwean government has come under intense scrutiny after it was revealed that over US$1.7 billion has been spent on road rehabilitation projects in the run-up to the recently concluded Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit. Transport Minister Felix Mhona disclosed these figures, positioning the expenditure as part of the government’s broader effort to enhance national infrastructure.

Felix Mhona

The announcement has sparked widespread public outrage, with many citizens questioning the accuracy and necessity of such an exorbitant spend. Critics argue that the amount reported far exceeds the usual budget allocations for road maintenance, prompting allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.

One Facebook user, Moses Madungwe, expressed shock at the figures, suggesting that the amount is “shocking” and accusing government officials of inflating costs. He noted that the US$1.7 billion figure is well over 350% of the ministry’s annual budget and even 30% more than the national budget. According to Madungwe, such a sum should be enough to cover all roads across the country, not just those utilized for the summit.

Madungwe further alleged that funds may have been misappropriated, comparing the purchase of palm trees, reportedly at US$500 each, while they are typically valued at much less. “1.7 [billion] should have been stolen,” he concluded, indicating strong suspicions of graft.

Another commenter, Shepherd Nyathi, echoed these concerns, questioning the accuracy of the report or the honesty of the ministry’s statements. Nyathi’s skepticism reflects a broader sentiment among Zimbabweans, many of whom have become disillusioned by repeated instances of corruption within the government.

### Government’s Stance on Infrastructure Development

The Zimbabwean government has been emphasizing the need to develop its infrastructure to spur economic growth. The rehabilitation of roads, particularly ahead of international events like the SADC Summit, is part of this strategy. Minister Mhona highlighted the importance of these investments, arguing that modernized roads are crucial for improving the country’s economic prospects and enhancing connectivity within the region.

However, the massive budget allocation for this purpose has led to calls for transparency. Many citizens and opposition figures are demanding a detailed breakdown of how the US$1.7 billion was spent, urging the government to account for every dollar to dispel doubts of financial mismanagement.

### Potential Implications

The controversy surrounding this expenditure could have significant political ramifications. If the allegations of corruption are substantiated, it may further erode public trust in the government, potentially impacting future elections and the country’s overall political stability. Additionally, this situation could draw the attention of international observers, particularly as Zimbabwe seeks to attract foreign investment and improve its global image.

In conclusion, while the Zimbabwean government aims to justify its investment in national infrastructure, the public backlash over the US$1.7 billion road rehabilitation expenditure reveals deep-seated concerns about transparency and accountability. As the situation develops, all eyes will be on the government’s response to these serious allegations and the steps it takes to address the growing discontent among the population.

In Mnangagwa’s absence, Chiwenga made a significant move by declaring his ally, Brigadier-General Shadreck Dingani Ndabambi, a national hero.

AUDIO: ANOTHER COUP?- Large Army Of Armed Security Forces Swamp Zambia Highway To Arrest Chamisa Like Mugabe In 2017

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A large army of security forces swamped the Zambia highway on Wednesday to arrest opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa in a similar way they did the late Robert Mugabe in 2017.

The deployment was made to stop him from addressing a funeral, a whistleblower says in a viral audio clip.

Since 2017, several deployments have been done on Chamisa including on 1 Aug 2018 to change election results and on 23 Aug 2023 for the same outcome.

The whistleblower, a male, narrates as follows:

Good morning citizens. How are you Children of Nelson Chamisa the young man loved by the masses. Yesterday (Wednesday) the police and ZANU PF obtained rumours that Chamisa is coming to Champion Makanyaire’s funeral at Magunje. Guys, listen, large crowds of police swamped into the Magunje Hospital area to block Chamisa.

The roadblock was as if someone has been murdered.

There were guns all over, garrisoning the whole area, conducting searches for Chamisa.

If Chamisa isn’t in power, why are you going after him? This is clear evidence that ZANU PF didn’t win the election.

Chamisa is the one who won the election. They are always in panic, worrying about what people are thinking.

They are always in panic. thinking the citizens will rise up to take back the country; and fight for their stolen votes. That’s why they keep saying, Chamisa, Chamisa, Chamisa.

Change won’t come in one day, it will come one way or the other.

What became clear yesterday on Wednesday is that Chamisa is the only person who is in power. It was so clear as police mounted roadblocks with guns five each side. It became tickers that Chamisa is the one holding the country together, a huge roadblock mounted over Chamisa.

Let’s keep fighting. Tell them that we won’t leave Chamisa.

Thank you citizens, be blessed evermore.- ZimEye

Chidimma Adetshina Wins Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 | BREAKING

Chidimma Adetshina Emerges as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Amid Controversy and Rejection by South African Authorities

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Vanessa Adetshina, a 23-year-old law student born and raised in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. Adetshina, who entered the competition as Miss Taraba, emerged victorious in a night filled with beauty, talent, and unexpected twists.

However, Adetshina’s path to the crown was marred by controversy. Her journey began with her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant, but she was forced to withdraw just a day before the final round following accusations from South Africa’s Home Affairs Ministry. The Ministry alleged that Adetshina’s mother was involved in fraud and identity theft, casting a shadow over her eligibility to compete.

In response to the allegations, the Home Affairs Ministry released a statement rejecting her participation, citing serious concerns over her mother’s legal status in South Africa. The Ministry’s spokesperson said, “We have reason to believe that there are irregularities regarding the documentation and legal status of Ms. Adetshina’s family in South Africa, and until these matters are resolved, we cannot endorse her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant.”

Facing public scrutiny and a barrage of xenophobic attacks on social media, Adetshina made the difficult decision to step back from the Miss South Africa competition. “After much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and well-being of my family and I,” she wrote on Instagram. Her announcement followed weeks of online abuse, with some critics — including cabinet ministers — questioning her credentials and legitimacy due to her Nigerian descent.

Despite this setback, Adetshina was invited by the Miss Universe Nigeria organizers to compete in their pageant, which she accepted, representing Taraba. Her participation brought fresh energy and determination to the competition, and she soon became a crowd favorite.

The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant was a glittering event, filled with remarkable talent and fierce competition. The evening saw Miss Anambra, Paula Ezendu, emerge as the first runner-up, earning the title of Miss Supranational, while Miss Ondo, Ayegbidun Peace Olamide, secured the second runner-up position, known as Miss Lush. Special awards were also given to Miss Rivers and Miss Kwara for their outstanding performances.

Other notable winners included Miss Oyo, who scooped the Top Model Award, Miss Imo, who won the Best Costume Award, and Miss Abuja, who took home the Best Talent Award. The top ten finalists included contestants from Kwara, Edo, Taraba, Anambra, Ogun, Plateau, Lagos, Rivers, Ekiti, and Ondo.

As the competition reached its climax, the top five finalists — Miss Taraba, Miss Rivers, Miss Edo, Miss Ondo, and Miss Anambra — were announced. Among the three contestants with the highest votes, Adetshina emerged as the new Miss Universe Nigeria, based on the judges’ scorecards.

Reflecting on her unexpected journey, Adetshina shared, “This victory is a testament to resilience and perseverance. Despite the challenges and the rejection by the Home Affairs Ministry, I have shown that no obstacle is too great to overcome. I am honored to represent Nigeria and to show the world that strength and grace can come from even the most trying circumstances.”

Adetshina’s victory not only highlights her beauty and talent but also underscores her determination to succeed despite the obstacles thrown in her path. Her story has resonated with many, proving that courage and resilience can triumph over adversity.

Sikhala Trashes Mnangagwa 2030 Anenge Achitonga Maxim

By A Correspondent

In a recent statement, Job Sikhala, a prominent opposition leader, has criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ambitious “2030 Anenge Achitonga” vision. Sikhala’s comments reflect his discontent with Mnangagwa’s policies and his broader disapproval of the current political direction in Zimbabwe.

On Wednesday, Sikhala made it clear that Mnangagwa’s plans for 2030 are misguided and detrimental to the country’s progress.

He accused Mnangagwa of trampling on the constitution and dismissed the president’s vision as unrealistic. Sikhala said, “Those of us who strongly opposed the coup in November 2017 and were ruthlessly insulted and vilified at the material time, doesn’t mean to say that we must now beat our chests and remind those who were dancing and jumping in the streets that ‘we told you’ because we are all suffering and in the same predicament.”

Sikhala emphasized that the issues facing Zimbabwe are shared among all citizens, regardless of their stance on the coup.

He noted, “It is a complete wrong because we should respect the thoughts of everyone at that moment because everyone was tired of Robert Mugabe, who seemed not willing to release power until death.”

Furthermore, Sikhala urged for a collective effort to address the current challenges, stating, “The problems of the moment are ours together, those who viciously disapproved of the coup and those who danced in the streets welcoming it.”

He expressed a firm belief that the country must work together to resolve its issues, rejecting Mnangagwa’s vision as mere rhetoric.

“No one is bearing with the ‘2030 anenge achitonga’ nonsense. It is all our duty to cure the coup, my dearest brothers and sisters!!!”

Sikhala’s comments underscore the deep divisions and frustrations within Zimbabwean politics, highlighting the ongoing struggle for a unified and effective approach to the nation’s governance.

Mnangagwa Man Vows To Campaign For Masisi In Botswana Polls

By A Correspondent

In a provocative statement that has stirred controversy, Zanu PF Youth League official Taurai Kandishaya has predicted a resounding victory for Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi in the upcoming elections.

Kandishaya’s comments, made on Friday, have reignited fears about potential interference in Botswana’s electoral process.

Kandishaya, known for his outspoken support of Zanu PF, confidently asserted, “Here at home we are ZANU PF, in Botswana we are BDP.” His remarks suggest a close alignment between Zimbabwe’s ruling party and Botswana’s ruling party, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), which Masisi leads.

The Zanu PF Youth League official’s statement underscores the party’s active involvement in Botswana’s political landscape.

Kandishaya announced that the party would be unveiling their manifesto this weekend, declaring their intent to secure Masisi’s victory. “This weekend we are launching our Manifesto as we move to secure the victory of Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi,” he said.

The notion of external influence in Botswana’s elections is a contentious one.

There are growing concerns that Zanu PF might leverage its political experience to sway the election results in favor of the BDP. Kandishaya’s declaration only amplifies these fears.

President Masisi himself has expressed confidence about the upcoming elections, reflecting his party’s historical dominance. “BDP is not used to losing, so come 2024 elections we will be piping them,” Masisi stated, aligning with Kandishaya’s optimistic outlook.

As the elections approach, the implications of Zanu PF’s involvement in Botswana’s political affairs remain a subject of intense scrutiny and debate.

The focus now shifts to ensuring the integrity of Botswana’s electoral process amidst these developing dynamics.

Divine Lunga Not Leaving Mamelodi Sundowns?

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly working on a new deal for Divine Lunga to wear off interest from Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.

According to Soccer Laduma website, Sundowns are expected to offer Lunga a three-year contract.

The Zimbabwean defender’s current deal is set to expire in June 2025.

The publication adds that the move is in response to the interest in the player from Wydad, who are now coached by Rulani Mokwena.

And although nothing has been finalised yet, all the involved parties, including the player, are happy with the offer on the table.

Mokwena was at Sundowns last season and worked with Lunga before.

An unnamed source revealed to the South African website: “The club is dealing with contracts in a different way compared to other clubs. They are negotiating for a new contract while there is still time to do so.

Yes, his current contract is running until June 2025 but they are looking at the fact that in December this year he could be a free agent and they are avoiding that hence the need for a deal on the table.

“It’s actually another three years offered to him. Which means it will run until June 2028 if they agree all the terms.

You know there was interest from Wydad Casablanca and coach Rulani Mokwena but Sundowns don’t want to lose him just like that.”

‘Magaya Steals Corpse’ from Family After Bodyguard Killed By Unknown Assailants

By Religion Reporter | ZimEye | War has broken out between the medical-fraud-convict, Walter Magaya and the family of one of his security men who was found dead following assaults by a group of unknown assailants.

The deceased who is one of Magaya’s bodyguards was found dead at the gum tree area of the preacher ‘s Heart Stadium. The man had been left for dead after beatings by unknown assailants.

His body was later found several kilometers from where the assaults had taken place.

Sources tell ZimEye Magaya is pushing for the burial to be done without any postmortem.

“It seems Magaya has paid the hospital to avoid an investigation,” one source said.

Walter Magaya did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This is a developing story.

Tales of violence and betrayal.

In the heart of a quiet township, where the whispers of the wind carried the secrets of the night, there stood a place known as the Gum Tree Area. Just beyond Heart Stadium, this small, unremarkable spot had become the center of unspeakable events—events that threatened to unravel the lives of those brave enough to seek the truth.

It was under the shadow of the ancient gum tree that the rumors first began to swirl. They spoke of Prophet Magaya, a man revered by many but feared by those who knew the darkness that lingered just beneath his holy exterior. They said his power reached far beyond the walls of his grand church, extending to those who dared to question him.

Jimmy had been one such soul—a man who once believed in the Prophet’s word, until the day he discovered the truth. It started with whispers, stories from young girls who came to the church seeking refuge and left with broken spirits. These were not just any stories; they were tales of violence and betrayal, where victims of unspeakable crimes were silenced with brutal beatings when they dared to demand justice. The church, a place of sanctuary, had become a den of terror.

Determined to expose the truth, Jimmy spoke out. He recounted what he had seen, the cries he had heard echoing through the church’s cold corridors. But his courage came with a price. One fateful night, as he walked past the gum tree, shadows emerged from the darkness. They were men, sent with a clear purpose. They beat him, each blow laced with a warning—this was Magaya’s law, the unspoken rule of silence. When they were done, they left him for dead, his blood soaking into the earth beneath the tree that had witnessed so much.

But Jimmy did not die.

He was found, broken but alive, by a passerby who carried him to safety. News of his survival spread quickly, and with it came more stories. Just a week before, young girls, barely teenagers, had been dragged into the church and beaten. Their crime? Speaking out against the abuse they had suffered at the hands of those they once trusted. They, too, had faced the wrath of Magaya’s enforcers.

The township was a place where fear and faith collided. The Prophet’s followers believed in his divine power, but those who knew the truth lived in terror of what he could command. The gum tree, once a symbol of community, had become a marker of despair—a silent witness to the violence that festered in the shadows.

As more victims found their voices, the world beyond the township began to listen. The stories were no longer contained; they were a storm gathering force, ready to sweep away the veil of holiness that protected Magaya. The gum tree, once an ordinary part of the landscape, now stood as a symbol of resistance—a place where the silenced would be heard, and the shadows would be brought into the light.

But the question remained: How far would Magaya’s reach extend? And would those who sought justice be ready for the fight that awaited them? The answer lay in the hearts of those who had suffered, and in the courage of those who refused to let the truth die beneath the gum tree.

ZiG Sinks Shops, Businesses

By Bisiness Reporter-Major retail shops and businesses in Bulawayo are struggling to break even because of the ZiG rate.

Mayor Councillor David Coltart said the government should either abandon the ZiG or exclusively adopt the US dollar and the Rand to save the business.

In a post on his X page, Coltart highlighted the issues stemming from the use of an official exchange rate (US$1: ZiG13.80) compared to a street rate (US$1: ZiG24), which has led to financial losses for businesses forced to operate under the official rate.

The CCC councillor added that aside from abandoning the ZiG in favour of the USD and ZAR, the only viable alternative for Zimbabwe is to allow the ZiG to float freely without artificial rate manipulation.

Coltart’s remarks follow reports that TM Pick n Pay has permanently closed its Harare Street branch. He wrote:

Last night I had dinner with a Bulawayo supermarket owner and he told me of his inability to compete with the informal sector – unlike the informal sector he has to pay taxes, rates and his staff – but most of all he is compelled to sell his goods at the official ZIG rate.

He is buying the same goods he has to sell at the official ZIG from manufacturers who sell to him with impunity at the ZIG parallel rate.

Informal traders can come to his supermarket and buy the same goods in ZIG having burned their US$ and who then sell the same for US$ at a lower price in US$ than the supermarket can sell it for, thus totally undercutting the supermarket, right outside its doors.

He doesn’t know whether he can continue – and at the root of this all is the government’s insistence that the ZIG be artificially kept at a value which bears no relation to its actual value. Tied to this is seemingly one law for retailers and another for manufacturers.

The City of Bulawayo isn’t exempt from this either. The City is forced to accept payment of rates at 13.80 at present when the real rate in the streets is 24. This is further undermining the balance sheet and general finances of Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe has been down this path created by insane policies far too often.

I have said repeatedly that a new Zimbabwean currency should only be introduced when trust in the RBZ and Ministry of Finance has been restored. It had not been when ZIG was introduced and trust has been further undermined since its introduction.

We have no choice but to abandon the ZIG again and revert to either the US$ or Rand. If we do not entire swathes ofindustry and the retail sector will be destroyed. The only other option is to allow the ZIG to float freely without artificial manipulation of its rate.

CIMAS Takes Health Services To Marginalised Communities With Mobile Clinic

By A Correspondent| Cimas Health Group, Zimbabwe’s largest private medical aid society and health service provider, is enhancing its service delivery with innovative approaches in the healthcare sector.

In a major development, Cimas has introduced a mobile clinic— a specially equipped vehicle staffed by healthcare professionals—to deliver essential medical services to hard to reach areas.

The new mobile clinic is currently being showcased at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) exhibition in Harare.

In a statement, Cimas Health Group Chief Executive Officer Vulindlela Ndlovu said the acquisition of the mobile clinic reflects the group’s dedication to providing world-class health and wellness services, irrespective of location or circumstance.

“In today’s fast-paced world, access to quality healthcare is crucial. By introducing this mobile clinic, Cimas aims to make health services more accessible, especially to communities with limited healthcare infrastructure,” Ndlovu stated.

He described the mobile clinic as a game-changer in healthcare delivery, designed to reach populations in need, including those in remote or under-resourced areas.

“Our mobile clinic is a versatile tool that will provide a range of services tailored to the specific needs of various communities, such as preventive care, vaccinations, health education, and primary healthcare,” he added.

Speaking to journalist at the CIMAS stand at Harare Agricultural show, the company’s Head of Clinical Services Dr Travolta Mushayamano said the mobile clinic seeks to bridge the gap and ensure that medical services are brought to the people.

He added that the mobile clinic will not only benefit CIMAS members but the general populace who will be able to pay for services.

The CIMAS mobile clinic has two apartments, one for dental and the other for general service.

At the Harare Agricultural show, CIMAS is also showcasing it’s mobile kitchen which they said will help them promote health foods.

Mnangagwa Can’t Be Allowed To Stay Beyond 2028, Declares Sikhala

Chiwenga’s Wealth Tied To US$15 Billion Chiyadzwa Diamond Heist

By Political Reporter- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s immense wealth has been thrust into the spotlight once again, following shocking revelations that his wife, Miniyothabo Baloyi, was defrauded of nearly US$1 million in a series of dubious construction deals.

This scandal has reignited memories of the infamous US$15 billion diamond loot from Chiyadzwa in 2015, a heist that remains unaccounted for to this day.

At the time, Chiwenga was the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and oversaw military-controlled companies that managed diamond mining operations in the area.

Allegations have long swirled that these companies siphoned off vast sums of money, which some sources claim were later used to finance the November 2017 coup that ousted the late President Robert Mugabe.

Chiwenga’s connection to these illicit funds has been speculated upon ever since, but now it has resurfaced with a vengeance after the case in which his wife lost nearly US$1 million in a fraudulent building deal.

Given that both Chiwenga and Baloyi are former soldiers with official salaries far below the amounts involved in these transactions, the origins of their wealth are coming under intense scrutiny.

According to court reports, Gray Homes, a Harare-based construction company, and its directors, Annavestah Mudiwa (39) and Gray Mudiwa (44), are facing charges of defrauding Baloyi of nearly US$930,000 across three separate incidents between March 2023 and August 2024.

Baloyi allegedly engaged Gray Homes for various ambitious building projects, including a double-storey house, a cottage, a boundary wall, a warehouse, and a shopping mall.

Despite hefty payments, these projects were never completed, with funds allegedly being diverted by the company for personal use.

In March 2023, Baloyi paid Gray Homes US$560,000 for a double-storey house, a cottage, and a boundary wall, expecting completion within 90 days.

The project was abandoned, resulting in a loss of US$389,100.

In June 2023, another US$550,000 was paid for a warehouse at Chivaraidze Farm in Goromonzi, but once again, the construction was not completed, with US$390,000 allegedly misappropriated.

The pattern continued in September 2023, when US$158,000 was paid for a shopping mall at Silalatshani Business Centre in Filabusi, but the mall was never built, leading to a reported loss of US$151,000.

The Mudiwas were arrested at the Beitbridge Border Post as they attempted to flee to South Africa, leading to the State’s opposition to their bail.

The exposure of these fraudulent activities has raised serious concerns about the source of the funds used by Baloyi.

Given the stark contrast between the official incomes of the Vice President and his wife and the substantial sums involved in these transactions, the incident has fueled growing suspicions of corruption.

Chiwenga’s rapid wealth accumulation raises questions about whether his financial dealings have been properly scrutinised.

GoFundMe Is Refunding Donors Ruth Hwara Money

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | The GoFundMe website has initiated the process of refunding donations made to the campaign for the late Ruth Hwara, following numerous complaints and reports of fraud. Hwara, a kidney patient who was fundraising for an operation in India, died after being unable to leave Zimbabwe despite raising over USD 100,000 — far exceeding the USD 30,000 she initially needed.

The controversy surrounding the fundraiser has led to at least one arrest and has been compounded by a series of inconsistent statements from Hwara’s mother. Despite the significant amount raised, Hwara was kept confined in Zimbabwe for several months until her death.

During this period, her mother’s cousin reportedly experienced a sudden increase in wealth, including the acquisition of a car sales business, raising suspicions of misappropriation of funds. GoFundMe confirmed it had conducted an investigation into the fundraiser and has since begun issuing refunds to donors.

In a brief note sent to one of the complainants, the website stated, “We have refunded your donation and the funds will be credited back to your account in 3 – 7 days.”

The refunding process marks the latest development in a case that has been shrouded in secrecy and questionable financial activity, leaving many questions unanswered regarding the handling of the funds meant to save Hwara’s life. Further investigations are expected as the case continues to unfold.- ZimEye

A Life Cut Short: Remembering Zanele Sibanda

By Shelton Muchena, England | In the early hours of a Tuesday morning, the peaceful streets of Tredworth, Gloucester, were shattered by a tragedy that would leave a community heartbroken. At approximately 01:45 BST, police received a call that would forever change the lives of those who knew and loved 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda.

Zanele was a vibrant spirit, full of dreams and aspirations, whose laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. Known for her kindness and infectious smile, she had touched the lives of many in her community. As the news of her death spread, friends and family struggled to comprehend the loss, grappling with the reality that a life so full of promise had been extinguished in an instant.

On that fateful night, Zanele was found at the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road, her life tragically taken by a violent act. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a void that would be felt deeply by all who knew her.

In the aftermath, Tanaka Zivania, a 32-year-old man from Dora Walk, was arrested and charged with her murder. As he remained in police custody, set to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court, the community was left grappling with a whirlwind of emotions—anger, sorrow, and disbelief. How could someone so beloved be taken away in such a brutal manner?

Zanele’s family and friends gathered to remember her, sharing stories of her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering support for those around her. They spoke of her dreams—her desire to travel, to make a difference in the world, and to love fiercely. Each memory shared was a testament to the light she brought into their lives, now overshadowed by a senseless act of violence.

As the investigation continued, the community rallied together, united in their grief and determination to honour Zanele’s memory. Candles were lit, flowers were placed at the scene, and heartfelt messages filled the air, each a reminder of the love that would forever remain in their hearts.

Zanele Sibanda was more than just a name in a tragic headline; she was a daughter, a sister, a friend—a beautiful soul whose legacy would live on in the hearts of those who cherished her As the court proceedings began, the community stood together, vowing to remember her not for the way she died but for the way she lived.

Questions Arise About Chiwenga’s Wealth

By Political Reporter- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wealth has come under scrutiny following revelations that his wife, Miniyothabo Baloyi, was defrauded of nearly US$1 million in construction deals.

The incident has raised questions about the source of the funds involved, given that both Chiwenga and his wife are/were soldiers whose official salaries are nowhere near the amounts in question.

According to reports, Gray Homes, a Harare-based construction company, and its directors, Annavestah Mudiwa (39) and Gray Mudiwa (44), appeared in court facing charges of defrauding Baloyi of nearly US$930,000.

The charges stem from three separate incidents between March 2023 and August 2024.

Baloyi allegedly engaged Gray Homes for various building projects, including a double-storey house, a cottage, a boundary wall, a warehouse, and a shopping mall.

However, the company is accused of misrepresenting its capacity to complete these projects and diverting the funds to other uses.

In March 2023, Baloyi reportedly paid Gray Homes US$560,000 for the construction of a double-storey house, a cottage, and a boundary wall, with an agreed completion period of 90 days.

The project was never completed, leading to a financial loss of US$389,100.

In June 2023, she paid an additional US$550,000 after being assured by Gray Homes that they could construct a warehouse at Chivaraidze Farm in Goromonzi.

Once again, the construction was not completed, and US$390,000 was allegedly diverted by the company for personal use.

The pattern repeated in September 2023, when Gray Homes convinced Baloyi to pay US$158,000 for the construction of a shopping mall at Silalatshani Business Centre in Filabusi.

As with the previous projects, the mall was never built, and US$151,000 was reportedly diverted by the accused.

The State has opposed bail for the Mudiwas, citing their arrest at the Beitbridge Border Post while attempting to flee to South Africa.

These revelations have sparked concerns about the origins of the funds used by Baloyi, given the disparity between the official incomes of the Vice President and his wife and the substantial sums involved in these transactions.

The incident has fueled speculation about possible corruption, as Chiwenga’s rapid accumulation of wealth raises questions about whether his financial activities have been subject to sufficient scrutiny.

Unpacking UEFA Champions League New Format

The league phase draw for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League was conducted on Thursday evening.

The tournament will have a new format and thirty-six will take part in the stage in a single league.

The biggest change sees a transformation from the traditional group stage to a single league phase including all participating teams.

Each side will play eight matches in the new league phase (former group stage). They will no longer play three opponents twice – home and away – but will instead face fixtures against eight different teams, playing half of those matches at home and half of them away.

To determine the eight different opponents, the teams were initially ranked in four seeding pots. Each team was then drawn to play two opponents from each of these pots, playing one match against a team from each pot at home, and one away.

The top eight sides in the league will qualify automatically for the knockout stages, while the teams finishing in ninth to 24th place will compete in a two-legged play-off to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Teams ranked 25-36 are eliminated from all competitions.

In a separate incident, Harare police are investigating another road traffic accident that occurred on the same day at around 11:30 PM at the intersection of Nemakonde Way and Stone Road near Greencroft Shopping Centre. An unidentified driver hit a pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, before fleeing the scene. The victim, who sustained multiple injuries, is currently receiving treatment at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

Chimombe, Moses Mpofu To Languish In Remand Prison

By A Correspondent| The High Court sitting at Harare dismissed an application in which Moses Mpofu (49) and Mike Chimombe (43) were appealing a decision by the Magistrates’ Court to deny them bail.

The accused persons who are facing fraud charges were indicted to the Anti-Corruption Division of the Harare High Court for trial.

The trial has been set down on a continuous roll from the 1st to the 4th of October 2024.

Allegations are that the accused persons forged a ZIMRA Tax clearance certificate and a NSSA compliance certificate in the name of Blackdeck Private Limited and attached them in a bidding document which they submitted to the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development for a tender for the supply and delivery of goats for the Presidential Goat Pass-on Scheme.

They misrepresented that the company was in full compliance with ZIMRA and NSSA requirements. Acting on the misrepresentation, the Ministry of Lands contracted Blackdeck Private Limited.

Chiwenga’s Wife’s Miniyothabo Duped Nearly US$1 Million In Dubious Construction Deal

By A Correspondent| A Harare based construction company Gray Homes and its directors, Annavestah Mudiwa (39) and Gray Mudiwa (44) have appeared in court facing charges of defrauding Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife Miniyothabo Baloyi of nearly $930,000.

The charges stem from three separate incidents that occurred between March 2023 and August 2024.

Chiwenga’s wife reportedly engaged Gray Homes Construction for various building projects, including a double-storey house, a cottage, a boundary wall, a warehouse, and a shopping mall.

However, the company allegedly misrepresented its capacity to complete these projects and subsequently diverted the funds to other uses.

It is the State’s case that in March 2023, Baloyi paid Gray Homes Construction USD 560,000 for the construction of a double-storey house, a cottage, and a boundary wall, with an agreed completion period of 90 days.

However, the company failed to complete the project, resulting in a financial prejudice of USD 389,100.

In June 2023, Baloyi paid US$550 000 after being misled by Gray Homes that the company could construct a warehouse at Chivaraidze Farm in Goromonzi.

Gray Homes failed to complete the construction and instead diverted USD 390,000 for their personal use.

In September 2023, using the same fraudulent tactics, Gray Homes Construction convinced the Baloyi to pay USD 158,000 for the construction of a shopping mall at Silalatshani Business Centre in Filabusi.

Once again, the project was not completed, and USD 151,000 was allegedly diverted by the accused.

Meanwhile, the state has opposed bail on the grounds that the duo were apprehended at the Beitbridge Border Post while attempting to flee to South Africa.

Darts Star Speaks On Victory

Zimbabwean darts player Faith Dube raised the national flag high after clinching gold at the ongoing African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region Five darts championships in Matsapa, Eswatini.

The gold was Dube’s second medal of the day after scooping silver earlier when she partnered Mercy Meke in the open doubles section.

“I have not been doing well in the tournament but I am happy I have got silver and gold on the same day during my second appearance,” said Dube.

Zimbabweans had declared the open singles a Zimbabwean territory with five Zimbabweans, Mercy Meke, Ruth Banda, Thabeth Zhoya and Eunice Moyo making it into the quarter-finals of the ladies’ category.

Experienced Zhoya was however cancelled out by Dube on a two-nil scoreline in a Zimbabwean affair.

David Nyemba and Tarirai Bhasvi found the going tough in the men’s category after losing to the pair of South Africa’s Peter Cronje and Devek Harrypasad.

Hosts Eswatini have put up a memorable tournament with the darts leadership optimistic of taking the sport to dizzy heights.

The president of the Eswatini Darts Association, Kofi Phumlani Ndwandwe said, “We are excited the region came for this tournament. It was not easy hosting but we will tap on the legacy to take the sport forward.”

Stands Scam: US$20 million Windfall

Confusion Over Sale of Council Land Sparks Outcry in Harare

Harare, Zimbabwe – A storm is brewing in Harare over the sale of 10,000 unserviced residential stands in Mabvuku and Warren Park, amid allegations of impropriety involving the Harare City Council and two private developers. The controversy erupted after it emerged that the council had allowed Shelter Zimbabwe and Pure Gold, two prominent land development companies, to sell the stands without completing the required infrastructural development.

Councillor Blessing Duma, the chairperson of the council’s audit committee, raised the alarm, revealing that the two developers had been granted contracts to develop a combined area of 200 to 300 hectares in Mabvuku, which was already earmarked for residential use. Under the agreement, the developers were supposed to install essential services such as water and sewer mains, roads, and storm-water drainage systems. However, instead of fulfilling these obligations, the companies allegedly sold the land as unserviced stands.

“If we calculate at US$10,000, which is the usual selling price per stand, it’s almost US$20 million that was realised,” said Cllr Duma. He criticized the developers for failing to carry out the necessary work and raised questions about the city council’s role in the transactions.

According to Cllr Duma, the audit committee, then chaired by Councillor Charumbira, sought a legal opinion on November 22, 2022, after discovering that the developers had not fulfilled their contractual obligations. The legal opinion, delivered on February 8, 2023, suggested two potential courses of action: either terminate the contracts and seek new developers or renegotiate the terms with the existing developers to enforce stricter conditions.

“We do not give a developer land to sell as unserviced residential stands because the purpose of the developer is to develop residential stands,” Duma asserted. “But now, the guys from the housing department, the principal allocation officer and the research officer, Mr. Edgar Dzehonye and Mr. Bindura, are saying that according to an agreement in 2020, they allowed the developers to sell unserviced stands.”

The situation has left many perplexed and raised serious concerns about the transparency and integrity of the process. The conflicting positions between the council’s audit committee and the housing department have only added to the confusion. While the audit committee argues that the developers were in breach of their contracts, the housing department maintains that the sale of unserviced stands was permitted under the original agreement signed in 2020.

The revelation has sparked outrage among residents and stakeholders, who fear that the lack of basic services could lead to a deterioration in living conditions. Many are demanding answers from the council and accountability from those involved in the decision-making process.

As the situation unfolds, the Harare City Council faces mounting pressure to clarify its stance and take appropriate action to address the growing concerns over the sale of unserviced land. With millions of dollars potentially at stake and the future of thousands of prospective homeowners hanging in the balance, the council must navigate the controversy carefully to restore public trust.

Meanwhile, residents of Mabvuku and Warren Park are left wondering whether they will ever see the promised developments materialize, or if they have been left holding the short end of the stick in a deal that appears increasingly murky.

Chiwenga Ally Death Strongly Linked To Zanu PF Infighting?

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has not revealed the cause of Retired Brigadier General Shadreck Ndabambi’s death, who collapsed and died recently.

Ndabambi collapsed at his Glendale farm on Tuesday morning and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bindura General Hospital.

ZNA spokesperson Colonel Alphios Makotore confirmed his death but provided no additional details.

Chiwenga’s Wife Loses US$1 Million To Harare Contractor

Chiwenga Warms Up For Power

By Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, to act in his stead as he embarks on a visit to China.

This move comes ahead of the Zanu PF elective congress in October, where Mnangagwa is expected to anoint him ( Chiwenga) as his successor if he honours the 2017 agreement with the military junta.

However, signs are emerging that Mnangagwa may seek to extend his rule, potentially blocking Chiwenga’s path to power.

The Zanu PF Women’s League, a key Mnangagwa ally, is reportedly planning to pit Chiwenga against its chairperson, Mabel Chinomona, during the congress.

Chiwenga, while commanding significant support within the military, lacks a strong political base among the party’s eligible voters, leaving his succession prospects uncertain.

In what many see as a test of his political clout, Chiwenga presided over the inaugural Research for Agricultural Excellence Indaba on Thursday.

The event, held at the Exhibition Park as part of the 2024 Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, is co-hosted by the Research Council of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society.

Running under the theme “Research and Innovation Solutions for Sustainable Agribusiness Development,” the indaba aims to bridge the gap between research and practical application in agriculture, while shaping policy in the sector.

As Acting President, Chiwenga is also expected to tour several exhibition stands , further cementing his presence during Mnangagwa’s absence.

Whether this temporary elevation will bolster his political standing or serve as a precursor to an extended leadership battle remains to be seen.

Zanu PF Women’s League Blocks Chiwenga

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF Women’s League is plotting to block Vice President Constantino Chiwenga from succeeding President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the party’s elective congress due on October 22.

The Women’s League is planning to match Chiwenga with its chairperson, Mabel Chinomona, during the elective congress.

Chiwenga has no political support with the party’s eligible voters other than the military, which has no voting powers.

This move could derail Chiwenga’s long-anticipated succession to President Emmerson Mnangagwa post-2028.

Chiwenga was once seen as the designated successor to Mnangagwa, following a gentleman’s agreement made by the military leaders who orchestrated the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

However, recent developments suggest Mnangagwa is reneging on this pact, consolidating his power and sidelining Chiwenga.

As Zanu PF prepares for its 21st Annual People’s Conference, set to take place at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Grounds in Bulawayo from October 22 to 27, insiders reveal that plans to marginalise Chiwenga have now shifted focus to the Women’s League.

“Mabel Chinomona is Mnangagwa’s project, and she can easily be maneuvered by her handlers to step down when needed. This strategy aims to exclude Chiwenga from the 2028 succession race, paving the way for Philip Valerio Sibanda to take the post-Mnangagwa presidency,” said party sources.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa’s loyalists are pushing for constitutional amendments that would allow him to extend his presidency beyond 2028 despite his term limits.

If successful, these amendments could be presented to Parliament, where Zanu PF’s majority and the compliant CCC faction led by Sengezo Tshabangu may ensure their passage.

Night Driving Tips…

Driving at night can be challenging due to reduced visibility and increased fatigue. Here are some tips to help you stay safe:

  1. Use Your Headlights Properly: Make sure your headlights are on when driving in low-light conditions. Use high beams on dark roads when no other vehicles are around, but switch to low beams when approaching other vehicles or driving in fog.
  2. Keep Your Windshield Clean: Dirt and smudges on the windshield can create glare. Regularly clean both the inside and outside of your windshield.
  3. Reduce Speed: Driving slower gives you more time to react to potential hazards and allows you to stop within the range of your headlights.
  4. Avoid Looking Directly at Oncoming Lights: If you’re blinded by oncoming headlights, look toward the right edge of the road to help maintain your lane and reduce glare…

Resisting Mnangagwa’s Bid To Twist Constitution…

Linda Masarira LEAD president…

Extending Zimbabwe’s presidential term limits from 5 years to 7 years is a deeply undemocratic and unconstitutional move that undermines the country’s democratic foundations.

Why do I say it is, “Undemocratic and Unconstitutional”:

  1. It subverts the will of the people. Term limits are in place to ensure regular changes in leadership, allowing citizens to choose new representatives. Extending terms disregards this fundamental principle.
  2. Violates the Constitution: Zimbabwe’s Constitution, adopted in 2013, explicitly sets presidential terms at 5 years. Changing this without a thorough, inclusive constitutional review process is unconstitutional.
  3. Concentrates power: Longer terms lead to increased executive power, potentially entrenching authoritarianism and reducing checks on presidential authority.

There are many disadvantages of term limit extensions. I will focus on 4.

  1. Entrenches incumbency: Longer terms make it harder for new leaders to emerge, perpetuating the incumbent’s hold on power.
  2. Reduces accountability: With more time in office, presidents may become less responsive to citizens’ needs and concerns.
  3. Discourages fresh perspectives: Extended terms limit opportunities for new ideas and approaches, potentially stagnating national progress.
  4. Increases risk of authoritarianism: Longer terms lead to increased repression, as leaders may feel more secure in their positions.

I found very few advantages of term limit extensions which are stability and experience.

  1. Stability: Longer terms provide stability, allowing leaders to implement long-term plans without worrying about short-term electoral pressures.
  2. Experience: Extended terms can allow presidents to build on their experience, potentially leading to more effective governance.

However, these advantages are far outweighed by the disadvantages, and stability and experience can be achieved through other means, such as:

  1. Strengthening institutions
  2. Encouraging leadership development
  3. Fostering a culture of democratic transition

In conclusion, extending Zimbabwe’s presidential term limits is a regressive move that undermines democracy and the Constitution. It concentrates power, reduces accountability, and discourages fresh perspectives. Instead, Zimbabwe should focus on building strong institutions, promoting leadership development, and upholding democratic principles.

VP Chiwenga’s To Investigate Mnangagwa Over Suspected Murder Of Top Military Generals

Chiwenga Must Confront Mnangagwa: The Cost of Silence in Zimbabwe’s Power Struggle.

VP Constantino Chiwenga

By Kerina Mujati ZimEye | The political landscape in Zimbabwe has been marred by betrayal, deceit, and bloodshed. At the center of this dark theatre is Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, two men who have risen to power through a shared history of military intervention. However, this once-solid alliance now teeters on the brink of collapse, with Chiwenga facing a perilous choice: to confront Mnangagwa or risk being consigned to the same fate as Joice Mujuru, another victim of Mnangagwa’s ruthless ambition.

Kerina Mujati

Chiwenga, the architect of the coup that deposed Robert Mugabe, was instrumental in installing Mnangagwa as Zimbabwe’s leader. It was Chiwenga’s military prowess and the loyalty of the armed forces that gave Mnangagwa the throne. But power, once tasted, breeds an insatiable hunger. Mnangagwa, now drunk on power, has become a callous, self-serving dictator, willing to discard or destroy anyone who poses a threat to his dominion.

The suspicious deaths of several generals who played pivotal roles in elevating Mnangagwa to power should serve as a stark warning to Chiwenga. These are not mere coincidences but calculated moves by a man who sees anyone with a claim to power as an obstacle to be removed. Mnangagwa has shown that he is willing to go to any lengths to secure his position, even if it means eliminating those who were once his closest allies.

In this context, Chiwenga’s current approach—marked by silence and caution—appears dangerously naive. Mnangagwa is not a leader who respects diplomacy or subtlety; he is a man who thrives on fear and force. To continue this “soft” approach is to play directly into Mnangagwa’s hands, allowing him to tighten his grip on power while systematically dismantling any opposition.

The time has come for Chiwenga to confront Mnangagwa head-on. The Vice President must recognize that Mnangagwa is not an immortal ruler, nor is he a divine figure beyond reproach. He is a man who has, time and again, demonstrated his willingness to crush those who oppose his family’s ambitions. Allowing Mnangagwa to continue unchecked is not only dangerous for Chiwenga but for Zimbabwe as a whole.

In a country where power is often maintained through violence and intimidation, meeting evil with evil may be the only language Mnangagwa understands. Chiwenga must draw on the courage of his ancestors, who did not stand idly by in the face of oppression. It is time for him to stand up to this abusive, ungrateful dictator, and show Mnangagwa that his actions have consequences.

Remaining quiet is not diplomacy; it is surrender. Chiwenga must remember that silence in the face of tyranny is complicity. If he continues to shy away from confrontation, he will not only lose his political standing but also his legacy. The people of Zimbabwe deserve better than a leader who allows himself to be pushed aside by a dictator masquerading as a president.

Mnangagwa may be powerful, but he is not invincible. Chiwenga has the opportunity—and the responsibility—to challenge this evil before it consumes the entire nation. The stakes could not be higher, and the cost of inaction is too great to bear.

Zanu PF Leader Confronted Over Unfulfilled Promise

By A Correspondent| Three youths appeared in Plumtree Magistrates Court today facing robbery charges after allegedly confronting ZANU PF Bulilima District Coordinating Committee (DCC) chairman Felix Ncube and demanding a soccer kit they claimed to have won at a tournament he organized.

The accused, Ayanda Ncube (25), Polite Moyo (22), and Colman Ndlovu (30), were remanded in custody until September 3 by Magistrate Joshua Nembaware.

The prosecution alleged that on August 10, the trio stormed into Ncube’s butchery, demanding the soccer kit. Ncube explained that the guest of honor, Moses Langa, had not yet handed over the kit. Unhappy with his response, the youths threatened him with violence.

As Ncube went into a storeroom to contact the police, the three allegedly searched his premises for money. When he tried to intervene, they reportedly grabbed him by the collar, stole his mobile phone, and took US$14 and ZAR 300 from a yogurt container where he kept cash.
