Video: Nelson Chamisa Visits Zaka District…

Citizens leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa on Friday shared a video of himself visiting Zaka District in Masvingo Province, where he received a warm welcome from locals.

Posting on social media, Chamisa wrote:

“I’m in Zaka… Lots of amazing love from amazing people!”

The visit is part of his ongoing grassroots engagements across the country.

Zanu PF Masvingo Stalwart Hungwe Dies

By A Correspondent

MASVINGO – Long-serving Zanu PF councillor Phillip Dunira Hungwe, a political stalwart from Vuranda, Ward 1 in Chivi District, has died. He passed away in Harare, where he had been hospitalized for some time.

Confirming the news, Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial leadership said Hungwe’s death is a great loss to both the party and the Chivi community.

“He was admitted in Harare for some time and unfortunately, his condition was not pleasing. We have lost a dedicated cadre who served the party and the people with unwavering commitment,” said a senior party official in the province.

Hungwe was widely respected for his long-standing service, having been one of the longest-serving councillors in the country, and a constant figure in local governance throughout the post-independence era.

Details regarding funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.

Zanu PF Heavyweights Lose Sleep Over Tagwirei, Mavetera Rising Influence

By A Correspondent

BULAWAYO – The growing political clout of Kudakwashe Tagwirei, a controversial businessman, and Tatenda Mavetera, Minister of ICT and leader of Young Women 4ED, is reportedly causing anxiety among Zanu PF heavyweights amid deepening divisions over the party’s succession dynamics.

On Thursday, Mavetera proudly announced that Young Women 4ED had hosted the 2nd Edition of the Leadership Success Series in Bulawayo, focusing on the theme “Land Tenure – Unlocking the Potential of Young People.”

“Our guest of honour Mr. Kuda Tagwirei reaffirmed his support for our President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s vision on the Land Tenure program,” Mavetera said. “He also gave a lot of insights on sustainable land reform as the Chairperson of the Land Implementation Committee.”

Mavetera herself used the platform to push the government’s digital transformation agenda.

“As Minister of ICTPCS I emphasized our government’s commitment to digitizing our land systems—a critical step towards a Digitalized Zimbabwe by 2030,” she added. “This aligns with Young Women 4ED’s mission to ensure women lead Zimbabwe’s agricultural transformation. Let us build an equitable, tech-forward future.”

While the event showcased youthful energy and loyalty to President Mnangagwa, insiders say the growing visibility and influence of Tagwirei and Mavetera has sparked concern within senior Zanu PF circles.

Tagwirei, long viewed as a key financier and behind-the-scenes power broker, is reportedly playing an increasing role in state policy and strategic decision-making. His chairmanship of the Land Implementation Committee has only deepened fears that he is becoming a kingmaker in the party’s post-Mugabe era.

Mavetera’s rapid rise within government and her grassroots mobilization of young women through the 4ED structure have also been interpreted as signs of her positioning in Zanu PF’s murky succession politics.

Party hardliners, some of whom still harbour presidential ambitions, are said to be “losing sleep” over the duo’s growing influence—particularly as speculation mounts that President Mnangagwa is keen to extend his stay in power beyond 2028, potentially sidelining long-time allies.

Kasukuwere Hits Back At Loudmouth Tagwirei,

By A Correspondent| Exiled former ZANU PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere has launched a blistering attack on controversial businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei, dismissing him as a “fraudster” who is manipulating the ruling party for personal gain and accusing senior party officials of selling out the legacy of the liberation struggle.

Responding to recent remarks in which Tagwirei reportedly labelled him “very corrupt”, Kasukuwere struck back with venom, painting a picture of a party captured by opportunists and rent-seekers. He accused Tagwirei of buying influence within ZANU PF and ridiculed the party’s current trajectory under the stewardship of individuals he says are more loyal to wealth than ideology.

“A good fraudster is not necessarily a good politician,” Kasukuwere charged in a statement widely shared online. “Trying to turn a thief into a leader is the ultimate betrayal of the revolutionary party by a reactionary leader.”

Kasukuwere, who has remained vocal from exile since the 2017 military-assisted ouster of long-time leader Robert Mugabe, did not mince his words in lambasting the party’s current leadership. He appeared to take a veiled swipe at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inner circle, particularly the current ZANU PF National Political Commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha, for allegedly bowing to the whims of Tagwirei.

“How does a whole NPC Machacha subordinate himself to a crook? Hurombo huroyi!” he exclaimed, a Shona phrase suggesting that poverty can lead to witchcraft-like behaviour.

Kasukuwere further alleged that Tagwirei is actively spreading rumours within the party ranks that President Mnangagwa is unwell and has already anointed a successor — presumed to be Tagwirei himself.

“He has paid people and is telling them that ED is sick and he has been anointed. ED must come out and explain to the party and nation if indeed he is no longer fit to lead,” Kasukuwere said, demanding clarity from the ZANU PF leader.

The former minister also mocked the rise of Tagwirei within the party structures, likening it to a frog that stumbles into the Central Committee and believes leaping can get it anything.

“When a frog wakes up in ZANU(PF) Central Committee, it thinks all other positions are acquired by leaping!” he quipped.

Kasukuwere’s remarks add fuel to growing speculation over ZANU PF’s internal succession battles and the influence of business moguls like Tagwirei within its ranks. Critics have long accused Tagwirei of capturing key state institutions and profiting from opaque deals — claims he has consistently denied.

In recent weeks, Tagwirei has also been forced to respond to allegations of harbouring presidential ambitions, insisting publicly that “there is no vacancy in the Office of the President” and calling such speculation “foolish talk.”

But Kasukuwere’s scathing statements appear designed to ignite fresh debate over the moral direction of ZANU PF and whether those currently steering the ship are acting in the spirit of the liberation movement — or for private enrichment.

“The game has begun and that rimming mouth will not be opened again,” Kasukuwere warned cryptically, hinting that more revelations and confrontations may lie ahead.

Stallion Bus Collides with Nhoro On Road To Mnangagwa’s Rural Area

Stallion Bus Crashes After Collision with Nhoro Along Zvishavane Route

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Zvishavane – A Stallion night bus travelling along the Zvishavane route suffered significant frontal damage after it reportedly struck a nhoro (eland), causing panic among passengers but no immediate fatalities.

Eyewitnesses say the accident occurred in the early hours of the morning when the large antelope suddenly ran across the road. “Stallion yarova nhoro kupinda muBus Zvishavane night bus,” wrote one witness who was on the scene shortly after the crash.

Images from the crash site show the bus with a completely shattered windscreen, and heavy impact marks to the front grill and bumper. The collision appears to have caused the front guard rails to bend inward, a sign of the force of the impact.

The nhoro reportedly entered through the shattered windscreen, injuring at least one crew member seated in the front. The condition of the animal was not immediately confirmed, but sources suggest it may have died on impact.

Passengers who were on board expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal, with some alleging the driver was speeding on a poorly lit section of the road. The bus, registered under number plate ADB 3623, was en route to Bulawayo at the time of the incident.

This incident adds to the growing list of wildlife-related road accidents in the Midlands province, particularly during night travel.

Plot Underway to Smuggle Lungu’s Corpse To Zimbabwe, Says ‘Prophet’

LUSAKA – A self-styled prophet has sparked fresh controversy after claiming that a secret plot is underway to smuggle the body of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu to Zimbabwe for burial. In a dramatic video statement, the preacher—who has built a reputation on sensational spiritual declarations—warned that Lungu’s spirit would “refuse to rest” if he is not buried in his homeland. The self-proclaimed man of God insists that the plan to relocate the late president’s remains is already sealed, accusing the family of ignoring spiritual consequences and warning of ancestral retribution.

The following is the full text of his proclamation:
So it’s very important that I share with you what I saw. Those of you that follow me—not jealously—those of you that follow me know that anything I say happens, any prophecy that I give happens.

There is a plan. In fact, a grave is already being dug for Edgar Lungu in Zimbabwe, making it the third grave. A grave is being dug in Zimbabwe. There is a plan to have a secret burial for President Lungu. Remove him from South Africa. In fact, as I’m speaking right now, the deal has already been concluded. Remove him from South Africa. Take him secretly to Zimbabwe and bury him. This plan is on the way.

Now, please, I’m no longer going to beg the family to do the right thing. They must do what they want. But let me say this to you: I gave a prophecy a few months ago concerning a war that is coming from Zimbabwe into Zambia. And many of you said, “Ah, that’s a false prophecy. It didn’t happen.” It didn’t happen—if not for the intervention and a quick move by the army of Zambia. By now, Zambia would have been something else.

That’s why it’s very, very important to have people with knowledge in these offices. That’s why I applaud the appointment of the army commander, the ZAF commander, the ZNS commander. These guys have been the best appointment ever in the history of Zambia. Because they are prompt. They move. They moved and quickly intervened. And that war was aborted. And that was our prayer.

Now, this is about to happen. I’m telling you that what I’m telling you now is already a deal that is sealed—something that has been done already and sealed—that Lungu’s body must be moved from South Africa to Zimbabwe and be buried.

If you do this, Lungu will not rest in peace. Lungu will fight. And that fight is going to be against the family. I have been begging, I’ve been pleading as a spiritual man. Forget about your pastor, or your bishop, or your apostle—those people don’t have power. There is no single person or prophet in Zambia. All these are upcoming people. They don’t understand spirituality. They don’t go deeper in the realm of the spirit. Don’t allow yourself to be deceived.

Once you bury Lungu in Zimbabwe or South Africa, his spirit will not rest in peace. His spirit will come after the family.

May I beg you once again to take him to Zambia and bury him so that he can join his ancestors in peace. His spirit is roaming all around the place. His spirit is not resting. His ancestors are waiting for him. They are calling him. But you want to bury him and dash him off to another people’s ancestors.

This is going to be very painful. If you see this video, this is the first time I’m asking you: share this video. Let it get to the family. Let their hearts melt. Let them take away all the hatred, all the bitterness that they have against President HH. Let them remember that President HH treated their father well. Let them remember that President HH refused to revenge the things that their father did to him.

Let them know that this is not about HH. HH is a president. He will rule. His time to live will come. He will live. But where somebody is laid to join his ancestors is forever.

Don’t say, “Let’s go and bury him.” Anyone that gave you this advice does not understand the spirituality. “Let’s go and bury him so that when another president comes into power, we go and exhume him.” Please. You are disturbing the spirit. You are disturbing the ancestors.

Where you bury someone is supposed to be where he lies forever and ever. From there, his spirit favors the family. From there, his spirit protects the family.

Please, don’t take Edgar Lungu to Zimbabwe to bury him.
The government of Zimbabwe, we are watching. I’ve given this prophecy and everyone is watching. If you don’t change and allow this to happen, you have put your name in the bad history books of Zambia and in the bad history books of the whole world.

This is what I have to say, as for me.

VP Chiwenga Attacks Mnangagwa’s Corrupt Friends

By A Correspondent — Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has renewed his attack on corrupt business elites aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, warning that their days of impunity are numbered.

Addressing the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) annual congress in Victoria Falls on Thursday, Chiwenga delivered a scathing critique of “phantom entrepreneurs” and “tenderpreneurs”—a term commonly used to describe politically connected businesspeople who win lucrative state contracts without public tender processes.

Chiwenga’s remarks, while not naming names, are widely interpreted as a direct challenge to the so-called Zvigananda—a shadowy network of Mnangagwa allies, bootlickers, and relatives notorious for amassing wealth through opaque deals, rigged tenders, and state capture.

“The day of reckoning is inevitable for those who undermine our economic integrity by engaging in shadowy dealings,” Chiwenga said. “This culture of phantom entrepreneurship, where money appears without any known source, is not only economically corrosive but ethically bankrupt. We all know that money does not fall from the heavens like manna.”

The term Zvigananda, now a derogatory label in political and business circles, is used to describe Mnangagwa’s inner circle of tender-linked elites—often men with no traceable business operations but seen flaunting luxury lifestyles funded by public resources. These individuals are frequently awarded government tenders in infrastructure, energy, and mining—often without going through due process.

Critics say the Zvigananda group has entrenched a system of state-sanctioned corruption, where political loyalty to Mnangagwa is rewarded with access to taxpayer-funded contracts. Several of them have reportedly been involved in road construction projects, agriculture inputs schemes, and gold smuggling operations, all shielded from scrutiny by their proximity to the presidency.

Chiwenga has previously hinted at a looming political clash with the group. In January this year, he referred to them as “individuals of questionable morals… growing big bellies and splashing ill-gotten wealth.” In April, he warned that the country’s liberation struggle was not meant to benefit “the connected elite.”

At the ZNCC summit, Chiwenga urged the business community to uphold ethical standards and transparency, warning against rent-seeking and politically-backed malfeasance.

“Real businesses are built through hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and value creation,” he said. “We must shun unscrupulous so-called businesspeople operating from briefcases with no traceable capital or legitimate enterprise.”

The congress, held under the theme “Unlocking Business Potential Through Policy, Partnerships and Productivity,”brought together senior government officials, policymakers, industry leaders, and investors to chart a sustainable path for economic growth.

Chiwenga’s sharp tone comes amid growing public anger over corruption and impunity, which has deepened Zimbabwe’s economic woes. According to Transparency International’s 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Zimbabwe scored just 21 out of 100—its worst performance in nearly a decade. This places the country well below both the Sub-Saharan Africa average (33) and the global average (43), underscoring systemic failures in transparency and accountability.

The Vice President’s statement may signal an intensifying power struggle within the ruling Zanu PF, as factions jostle for control ahead of the party’s next congress. As Chiwenga continues to position himself as a reformist and anti-corruption crusader, his attacks on Mnangagwa’s allies could reshape the internal dynamics of Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

The Foolishness of Tagwirei’s Tenderpreneurship and Populism Model

By Takura Zhangazha| Zimbabwe now has its first publicly self confessed “tenderprenuer’ in the form of a rather religious and nationally well-known businessman, Kudakawashe Tagwirei. “Self confessed” because at a recent meeting at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, he did not mince his words.

To quote verbatim and at length for clarity, snippets from his key note and guest of honour address he said,

“ If you are not a tenderpreneur you are foolish…There is the biggest buyer or seller in this country is government. So if you do not want to get a tender from the biggest supplier, the biggest buyer, where are you going to get your business from? So anyone who tells you, you must not get tenders is foolish. You must actually strive to get a tender from government. Those who are saying these ones are tendreprenerus are jealous because they don’t get the tenders. Because if you have the tender you will not say you are a tenderpreneur. In fact I would rather be called a tenderpreneur. Let me tell you this…do you know a gentlemen by the name Elon Musk?… Elon Musk the richest man in the world is a tendepreneur. Because his biggest contracts are with the American government. So he won those contracts…That coining of that word was done by white people to discourage black people from gaining access to business from government…”

I will end the quote there for the purposes of brevity. And besides the full video clip has already gone viral on Zimbabwe’s favourite social media platforms (crosscheck X, Facebook and Whatsapp).

The term tenderpreneur as he outlines in his speech and also as originating from South African political lingo refers to businessmen who are positioned to provide services to the state or government.

It is not necessarily a positively considered term as it comes with allegations of either corruptly awarded tenders or complicity between government officials and businessmen in feeding off what should be national wealth. With the added arrogance of opulent displays of what the public may consider their suspiciously acquired wealth.

Or in the case of Tagwirei, quite arrogantly giving his audience the impression that this is normal business practice. Even by making reference to Elon Musk and his contracts with the USA government as an example of the normalcy of pursuing this line of acquiring wealth and interacting with the state for more opulence.

And like the example he citied with Musk, he is closely associated with our own Zimbabwean government both economically and politically.

On the economic side of things he is in charge of a large state investment fund (Mutapa Holdings) and a new land tenure commission that is in charge of new title deeds after the Fast Track Land Reform Programme (FTLRP).

While on the political side of things he is now a member of the ruling Zanu Pf’s central committee and has been going around the country donating vehicles to same party’s provincial leaders. Among other things such as being closely associated with its youth league. He has however also publicly denied any ambitions to be president stating that there is no vacancy until 2030 in the Zanu Pf presidency.

Yet it all makes for a good show where he appears to be combining his evidently strong links to the government with his business interests and what are clearly well-choreographed public rallies.

Since he called some of us who are not tenderprenuers ‘foolish’ we also have a right to assess his Musk led model also as ‘foolish’.

For at least three key reasons.

First the state that is called Zimbabwe does not belong to private capital and tenderprenuers. It belongs to the people of Zimbabwe. It does not need to follow the warped and thoroughly undemocratic model that is the Trump-Musk linkage that is now found in the USA.

Historically Zimbabwe is not a country that places individual greed above collective national well being and equitable redistribution of same said national wealth. Hence we continually remember and reflect on the values of our liberation struggle and also post independence programmes that sought to make the country a fairer one for all who live in it. Across multiple political divides. That is the first ahistorical foolishness of Tagwirei’s utterances.

The second foolishness of Tagwirei is the implication that contemporary political power can function in a vacuum that is controlled by solely by wealthy people like him and their proximity to the presidency. A foolishness in which he assumes the people of Zimbabwe are pawns to be played around with in any political direction as and when the ruling party and businessmen like him will it. This includes the 2030 slogan that he touted at his recent meeting in Bulawayo. It does not work like that. This is not America.

Even if there may be envy of his wealth and connections with the presidency. Or how he works closely with young Zanu Pf linked businessmen and their new consumption/ materialist culture that they do not hide. There are limits to which money, the state can create a false sense of political legitimacy. And no matter how hard he may try, he is likely out of his depth with how money while able to influence an electoral process, does not give legitimacy.

The third foolishness that he has exhibited is his assumption that dealing with Zimbabwe’s young population, its poverty and unemployment issues in such a populist and money motivated fashion is both politically and economically sustainable.

In wanting to create a money motivated youth support base for himself and others in the ruling Zanu Pf party, he forgets that money can be as ephemeral as youthful age.

And that it does not create a long term political value based progressive future for the country. In fact it is dangerous in that it intends to create oligarchies out of Zimbabwe’s political economy. A development that portends political and oligarchic economic instability in the future.

Where Tagwirei acts like a godfather in our national political economy via entities like Mutapa and special advisory roles to the presidency, he would do well to go back to seperating business and the church from seeking to impose their repressive values on the people of Zimbabwe. And not being deluded by Musk, Trump and a false messianic approach to how Zimbabwe can and move forward only in his own image.

Tagwirei Confirms To Being A “Tendepreneur”

By A Correspondent| Controversial business mogul Kudakwashe Tagwirei has stirred fresh debate over state-linked business dealings after making remarks that appeared to confirm long-standing allegations of his involvement in government tenders. Speaking during a recent public appearance, Tagwirei dismissed claims that he continues to benefit from government tenders while simultaneously accusing exiled political figures of being tenderpreneurs themselves.

“I have never gotten a tender from this government since 2019–2020, I have never won a tender. In fact, I have never wanted a tender from this period, I have never,” Tagwirei said, addressing persistent questions over his business links to Zimbabwe’s ruling elite. “But those who are getting them—I am happy for them. If anyone gets a tender, I will celebrate with you, and if you want capital to supply your tender, I will help you, come and see me.”

While Tagwirei insisted that he no longer participates in the government tender system, his comments acknowledging his willingness to finance others who do has reignited scrutiny. Critics argue that such actions still position him as a key player in the tender ecosystem, even if indirectly.

Adding fuel to the fire, Tagwirei lashed out at exiled opposition figures, accusing them of similar conduct.

“Those who are outside the country who want to… They were tenderpreneurs also—the likes of [Saviour] Kasukuwere, [Tendai] Biti—they are loud-mouthed, but they are tenderpreneurs,” he said.

ED Awards Another Dubious Trabablas Multi-Million dollar Tender To His Friends

By Business Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has unveiled yet another controversial infrastructure project — the construction of two new traffic interchanges along the 31.2km Christmas Pass Bypass Road in Mutare — amid growing concern that such high-value tenders are being abused to benefit politically connected elites.

The interchanges, likened to the recently constructed and widely questioned Mbudzi (Trabablas) Interchange in Harare, are being developed at both ends of the bypass, with preliminary works already underway. The contractor, Leengate Private Limited, a company reportedly linked to Mnangagwa’s inner circle — often referred to as Zvigananda — has been handed the US$99 million project without an open tender process.

The project, expected to last 15 months, is being justified on the basis of improving road safety. The Christmas Pass stretch has long been a notorious accident hotspot, particularly for haulage trucks using the Beira Corridor. Government officials claim the bypass and interchanges will reduce fatalities and congestion in Mutare’s CBD.

But questions are being raised over the opacity of the deal, the cost, and the capacity of Leengate — a relatively unknown player — to deliver such a complex project. Critics say this is yet another example of how Mnangagwa’s government is awarding massive state contracts to politically loyal businesses with little public accountability.

The bypass road, first proposed in 1992, is finally being constructed under Mnangagwa’s infrastructure drive, which has repeatedly been accused of serving as a cover for looting. Similar concerns were raised around the Mbudzi Interchange, where costs ballooned amid allegations of inflated invoices and kickbacks.

Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona confirmed construction began last Thursday, adding that the project includes “two major interchanges and several bridges.” The interchanges will be situated at the Romeo Turn-off and near Mutare Teachers’ College, linking the new route with the Mutare–Chimanimani Highway.

Leengate director Commence Chivanga remained tight-lipped about project details, only stating that equipment mobilisation was ongoing. Provincial roads engineer Raphael Sigauke also confirmed site clearance had begun, with 4kmof the corridor earmarked for early development.

Despite the lack of transparency, officials continue to praise the initiative. Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, hailed the project as a testament to the “Second Republic’s” developmental vision — ignoring mounting criticism that such projects are riddled with patronage and corruption.

“This is yet another milestone under the leadership of our visionary President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa,” Mugadza said. “The bypass will finally end the nightmare caused by Christmas Pass accidents.”

The project also includes the rehabilitation of Sakubva (Murahwa) People’s Green Market Bridge and was cleared through an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) conducted by ELWAS (Pvt) Ltd, a local consultancy — itself reportedly connected to Mnangagwa’s associates.

Analysts warn that while Zimbabwe desperately needs infrastructure renewal, these projects must be managed transparently, competitively, and in the public interest — not turned into billion-dollar feeding troughs for the ruling elite under the guise of national development.

Ibbo Mandaza Denied an EU Visa.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | The owner of the SAPES Trust institution, Dr Ibbo Mandaza was denied an EU visa.

Dr Mandaza made the revelation to a ZimEye contributor during discussions which come at a time he was publicising video content produced by the fraud-fugitive Shepherd Bushiri’s spokesman.

Vida denied… Ibbo Mandaza

He has collaborated with an identity scammer over the last 7 years to demoralise opposition parliamentarians with unfair and unbalanced accusations such as his claim that Nelson Chamisa’s MPs were only fixated on issuing press statements over the GoldMafia investigation scandal in 2023.

The founder of the Al Jazeera investigation Simba Chikanza who expressed concern over this, is the one who took him head over his propagation of content by a high profile fraud fugitive’s spokesman.

When asked for a comment why he is circulating content that may harm the public, Dr Mandaza was adamant, up to the time he was asked over many gaps on his CV that EU investigators are in the know about him.

He was asked over his many claims he has been making that he was trained as a fighter in the liberation struggle of the 60s-70s.

Accusations against the opposition

Mandaza was also asked over his source funding since 1980, having gained a reputation of allegedly not paying salaries to his own employees since the 1990s, plus using other professionals’ profiles for financial enrichment.

He was also asked over many statements he has been making while collaborating with an identity scammer to without basis accuse the civil society leading to them being brutalised by state security agents in the last 2 years.

One of most jaw breaking observations relates to a statement he has issued that his colleague, the journalist Hopewell Chin’ono accused opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa of requesting through him, assistance of First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa to organise a government of national unity before the 2028 elections. Mandaza was asked why he has recently demanded that his own statement not be discussed in public at a time when it is clear the accuser uttered it in front of a panel of 7 participants at one of his SAPES Trust meetings.

“Why the secrecy then on such a matter of national interest whether true or false?,” he was asked.

What does he seek to achieve with his SAPES Trust institution then?

He responded by asking administrators of a war veterans group to intervene because according to him the questions are a personal attack.

But how do such matters of national interest become a personal attack, when they have little or anything to do with him? He could not respond, and soon bolted out of a war veterans WhatsApp Group he has been using to campaign to support his proposals for a National Transition Authority institution he has said he wishes to lead the country.

His colleague Chin’ono also attempted to create a government in exile institution that he quickly dismantled in Sept 2024 after failing to answer over allegations of identity and financial frauds, in the period he has spent the last 14 years using journalism to misrepresent the British Embassy in Harare by claiming that the consulate conducted a police clearance on him in 2011, something that is impossible, and the embassy has had to make a public announcement to clear the air in March 2024.

Dr Ibbo Mandaza was reached for a comment for the last time before this article was published.

Below was the trail of discussions:

Why do you seem bent on corrupting the war vets’s forum with content –

  1. By the fraud fugitive Shepherd Bushiri’s Spokesman, Maynard Manyowa?
  2. by a person who’s spreading suggestions that Hopewell Chin’ono exposed Pomona Scandal, something that never happened, and it’s well known that the only person who did it is Allan Markham?
  3. content promoting your colleague Chin’ono who has 3 identity cards with three different names?
  4. content that is simply promotional of two dubious characters ?
  5. content by Maynard Manyowa who’s a published mentee of the GoldMafia implicated Uebert Angel?
  6. content that triggers watchdogs to want to ask disclosure of your own background- including your claim that you trained in the war effort in Tanzania… your change of name from an English one to Mandaza, and a statement declaring your acquisition of wealth since 1980 @⁨Ibbo Mandaza⁩ + source of funding ?

Ibbo Mandaza: “Chikanza, please don’t abuse me; I have no intention of altercating with you and don’t involve me in your battles with your adversaries. Be warned.”

Question:

  1. Are you the real SAPES Trust researcher, acclaimed academic, who can’t answer the few lines on matters of accountability at a time when you’re seeking support of the war vets’ for your NTA project?
  2. What warning do you make and what do you hope to inflict on a public inquirer… are you confirming that you actually cause harm to people?
  3. put aside the mention of people you say are adversaries, what of you, Dr Ibbo Mandaza, who are you, are you a war veteran who trained in Tanzania as you’ve been telling people?
  4. What is your source of income since 1980, since you’re settling up a national institution?
  5. Why do you make threats to harm, on an inquirer if you’re the national academic and NTA protagonist that you’ve been making on videos?
  6. After you’ve calmed down, kindly attend to the above questions one by one, for public interest and safeguarding purposes, so we know you will not equally harm our war veterans who’ve been battered for decades by fake people.

Our leaders, War vets,
please come and see these responses by the SAPES academic.

Ibbo Mandaza: “Admin, please intervene and stop this abuse or I kindly withdraw from this platform.
Chikanza, you have communicated with me in better times ; you are free to contact me directly.”

Question: What abuse is this that you allude? Are you not the leader of the NTA project, a national initiative that is seeking consensus of the war vets, that they have asked you be inquired of over your own project? Who are you please, and are you a true war veteran? How did you become richer than trained fighters of the struggle ? This isn’t to imply you’re a thief… it is just for public safeguarding so people can know and trust you better. Kindly attend to the above questions so our war veterans can know you better.

Dr Ibbo Mandaza, you are kindly asked to

  1. disclose your liberation war credentials, with which you’ve been announcing for years that you trained in Tanzania. Are you a real war veteran and not a Chigananda using other people’s titles for money since the 1970s?
  2. What’s your source of funding, and since you’re running a NTA public institution, when will you declare your bank statements and asset records since 1980? We earnestly await disclosure.
  3. You’ve asked questions be sent to you privately and yet you’ve not been responding the same phonecall inquiries for months since the day you promised to reveal evidence of your accusations that Chamisa received money same figure as that accused of the respected Blessed @⁨Cde Bombshell – Blessed Geza⁩ ? . Why are you hiding evidence of such a public interest matter that you accused the opposition leader, if you’re not a counter intelligence operative stretching the spirits of the masses ?
  4. Why did you change your name in the 70s, if it wasn’t in order to camouflage among activists as you’ve been accused of doing?
  5. What is your source of funding since 1980, can you declare your papers @⁨Ibbo Mandaza⁩ for transparency.
  6. When will you apologise for misleading the masses with your SADC-leader-stopping Mnnagagwa-claims you gave the people misleading hope just after the OEM report in 2023 @⁨Ibbo Mandaza⁩ ?

Ibbo Mandaza: “Chikanza, I have no obligation to respond to your offensive statements. My biography is in the public domain; and likewise my public utterances and publications. For ease of reference, see the brief attached to the notice for my Public Lecture at UNISA on 27 May 2025.”

Question:

⚡️Dear Dr Ibbo Mandaza.

Does being a keynote speaker at this same UNISA institution (silent for 6 years while a fake prophet made money with its name), qualify you as a war veteran who announces threats on people inquiring over facts on your CV? Have you apologised for soiling the name of war vets by announcing threats plus pronouncing regime-level-damaging bribery allegations against the opposition with wordings also used against Blessed Geza? After failing to answer the few lines above, is it not a fact that you’ve failed to make the most basic disclosure about who you are and or your background since the 70s? Is it not a fact now that you’re the only war veteran (and the only doctorate holder) in Zimbabwe history to announce threats on a basic inquiry over who you are and your source of finances @⁨Ibbo Mandaza⁩?

Ibbo Mandaza: “For the record, please don’t include me as an errant factor nor create the impression that I have in any way traded abuse. Otherwise, I will gladly withdraw right away or, rather, you remove me forthwith as I was invited onto this platform.”

Question: 1. If need be, please do add Chin’ono, for these are public interest-questions to Ibbo Mandaza who says he wants to lead the country’s envisioned NTA, and has been saying he is a war veteran of the 70s, who has also accused opposition leaders of getting money from Mnangagwa, but says queries over this important information are a personal attack. Also add Shepherd Bushiri’s spokesman, who Ibbo is propagating.

  1. It is also Ibbo Mandaza, who’s been throwing statements that Chin’ono uttered at SAPES that say Chamisa is discussing with Auxillia Mnangagwa a proposed GNU, but Mandaza demands that the disclosures made at – a SAPES panel of 7 not be discussed in public; which thing leaves questions over what really Mandaza is seeking to achieve with his SAPES organisation, that he communicates in a way that appears like street gossiping, matters of national interest.
  2. If Chamisa has done these things, what are you hiding Dr Ibbo, why the secrecy @⁨Ibbo Mandaza⁩ ?
  3. Who is Ibbo Mandaza, and how does he become a war veteran from the 70s trained in Tanzania?
  4. Why does he seem extremely secretive about his accusations of Chamisa that the nation would benefit knowing whether false or true?
  5. What is Mandaza’s source funding for 45 years since 1980? Why does Mandaza not want to disclose all before he leads the country in an NTA capacity?
  6. Why does he threaten harm when asked these basic questions?
  7. Are war veterans safe from a person who does what no war vet has ever done?
  8. If anyone see these questions as personal attacks, that is unfortunate. We will gladly exit these forums.

⚡️10. When will Ibbo Mandaza disclose to the war vets that he was denied an EU Schengen Visa and the reasons thereof… so that they can trust him a person of his stature, Ibbo Mandaza ?

Chiwenga’s Domestic Worker Nabbed for Theft of Cash and Valuables

By A Correspondent| A 24-year-old woman who was employed by Marian Chiwenga has been dragged before the Mutare Magistrates’ Court for stealing money, clothes, and other valuables before fleeing from her employer’s home.

Mazvita Njanike Kapfumvuti appeared before Magistrate Perseverance Makala facing charges under Section 113 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

According to prosecutor Deliwe Masibera, the theft occurred on January 15 when Kapfumvuti stole US$500 and R2 000 from Chiwenga’s home. She initially denied any knowledge of the missing money but later admitted to taking it, claiming she had replaced it. However, only R300 was recovered.

Later that day, Chiwenga discovered that Kapfumvuti had disappeared, taking with her a suitcase, a travel bag, and a variety of clothing and household items including jeans, sandals, skirts, baby blankets, school uniforms, and curtains.

On May 25, Chiwenga received a tip-off about Kapfumvuti’s location and alerted the police, leading to her arrest. Some of the stolen items, including a suitcase, travel bag, jeans, sandals, skirts, and blouses, were recovered.

The total value of the stolen property was US$500, R2 000, and clothes worth US$333. Only R300 and clothes worth US$35 were recovered.

Chatunga Walks Free After AK47 Assault on Mazowe Mine Workers

By A Correspondent| The sons of the late former President Robert Mugabe continue to engage in criminal activities without facing justice, with the latest incident involving Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, who reportedly terrorised mine workers at a Mazowe gold concession in a shocking display of violence, entitlement, and state-enabled impunity.

Chatunga, the youngest of Mugabe’s children, allegedly led a group of armed men — wielding AK-47 assault rifles — in a brutal attack on security staff at Ultimate Mining, a concession that borders Grace Mugabe’s farm. The mob accused the mine’s workers of allowing illegal gold panners to trespass onto Mugabe-owned land.

Witnesses described the terrifying moment Chatunga and his men arrived, shouting and brandishing military-grade weapons, usually restricted to state security forces.

“They accused us of protecting invaders,” said one victim. “Then Chatunga shouted, ‘Wasiirei vanhu vachipinda mumunda waPresident chaivo?!’ (Why did you allow people to enter the real president’s land?) before attacking our guard.”

Three workers were severely injured — one, Elvis Bvumbwe, sustained multiple fractures while trying to protect himself from beatings with logs and metal rods. Medical affidavits from Parirenyatwa Hospital confirmed broken bones, deep bruises, and trauma classified as severe and potentially permanent.

The workers say they were dragged into the Mugabe compound, drenched with water and beaten relentlessly. Despite the clear evidence of violence — including firearm discharge — Chatunga reportedly walked into Mazowe Police Station, threatened officers with political fallout, and left without being arrested.

“If Mnangagwa hears I’m at Mazowe Police, everyone here will be fired,” Chatunga allegedly said before driving off.

Jah Prayzah’s North American Tour Collapses Amid Diaspora Protests Over Ties to Corrupt Regime

June 27, 2025

By Showbiz Reporter | WASHINGTON, D.C. / TORONTO — Zimbabwean music sensation Jah Prayzah has seen his North American tour unravel after fierce resistance from activists in the diaspora, who accuse the artist of being a beneficiary of stolen public funds and an apologist for Zimbabwe’s ruling elite.

Concerts scheduled for Washington, D.C. on July 4 and Dallas on July 5 have now been abruptly cancelled. Meanwhile, his upcoming Toronto show on July 12 faces mounting pressure from protesters demanding a full ban on his appearance in Canada.

At the heart of the backlash are Jah Prayzah’s well-documented ties to Wicknell Chivayo, a convicted fraudster and controversial ZANU-PF-aligned businessman. Chivayo, who is currently under scrutiny for siphoning millions from public coffers, has publicly gifted the musician luxury vehicles—provoking outrage from Zimbabweans who view such gestures as emblematic of elite impunity in the face of national suffering.

U.S. Activists Force Government’s Hand

In the United States, Zimbabwean activists launched a targeted campaign involving formal petitions, letters to the State Department, and submissions to the Zimbabwean Embassy in Washington, demanding action against the tour. Several organizers took to social media urging ticket holders to boycott the shows, accusing Jah Prayzah of “entertaining on the blood of the people.”

The situation quickly escalated, with some community members controversially threatening to report undocumented Zimbabweans who supported the concerts to immigration authorities.

“This is not about music,” one protester told a local outlet. “It’s about dignity. You can’t entertain the diaspora while aligning with a regime that brutalizes its own people.”

Canadian Show Faces Growing Resistance

In Canada, the backlash has intensified. Activists have submitted a detailed dossier to the federal government and immigration authorities, calling for a travel ban on Jah Prayzah. The dossier outlines the artist’s ties to state-aligned figures accused of looting national funds and suppressing dissent in Zimbabwe.

A well-placed Zimbabwean source, speaking anonymously for fear of reprisals, told this writer:

“We won’t let corrupt regime puppets perform on our soil. Chivayo’s stolen wealth should rebuild hospitals, not buy cars for celebrities.”

The protests have sparked broader debates within the diaspora over complicity, accountability, and the role of culture in political laundering.

Official Explanation Disputed

While Jah Prayzah issued a public statement citing a technical visa issue for the U.S. cancellations, critics claim the diplomatic blockade was the direct result of activist pressure. He has maintained that the U.S. Consulate “tried to assist in every possible way,” but conceded the shows could not proceed.

His statement avoided reference to the protests but emphasized a desire to fulfill the cancelled tour dates “in the very near future.” However, with resistance escalating in both the U.S. and Canada, that possibility appears increasingly remote.

What’s Next?

Jah Prayzah’s Canadian performances—particularly in Toronto on July 12—remain under threat, with protest organizers vowing to stage mass demonstrations should the event proceed.

The incident is now a watershed moment for Zimbabwean diaspora communities, who are signaling a new phase of transnational resistance—not just against the regime at home, but also its cultural ambassadors abroad.

This is a developing story.

Another Trabablas in Mutare

By Business Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has unveiled yet another controversial infrastructure project, the construction of two new traffic interchanges along the 31.2km Christmas Pass Bypass Road in Mutare, amid growing concern that such high-value tenders are being abused to benefit politically connected elites.

Provincial roads engineer Raphael Sigauke also confirmed site clearance had begun, with 4km of the corridor earmarked for early development.

OK Zimbabwe Fires Top Directors

By Business Reporter-OK Zimbabwe has fired its entire board, as the struggling supermarket giant fails to recapitaliseamid Zimbabwe’s deteriorating economic environment and the controversial introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency.

OK Zimbabwe has been unable to secure adequate funding to stabilise its operations, as investors and suppliers lose confidence in a hyperinflationary environment plagued by currency volatility, low consumer spending, and a collapsing formal retail sector.

Interim chief executive Mr Willard Zireva will assume the role of executive chairman following the resignation of long-serving chairperson Mr Herbert Nkala.

Other board members, including Ms Rose Mavima, Mr Tawanda Gumbo, and Mr Wonder Nyabereka, are also set to step down at the upcoming annual general meeting.

The resignations follow what insiders describe as an “urgent restructuring” effort by shareholders after the voluntary departure of former chief executive Mr Maxen Karombo, chief financial officer Mr Phillimon Mushosho, and supply chain director Knox Mupaya.

To stem the crisis, Zireva – who previously led the company for over two decades – has been recalled to provide continuity and restore supplier trust. He will be joined by former finance chief Mr Alex Siyavora and new supply chain director Mr Muzvidzwa Chingaira.

“The interim management will serve until the end of the financial year, after which a new executive team will take over to execute a recovery strategy,” the company said.

As part of this rescue plan, OK Zimbabwe is seeking to raise US$30.5 million through a combination of a renounceable rights offer and the sale of selected properties. The bulk of the capital—US$20 million—is expected to come fromissuing 1.83 billion new shares, offered to shareholders at a 15% discount.

However, the capital-raising initiative is being hampered by Zimbabwe’s unstable economic fundamentals, with the newly introduced ZiG currency failing to restore investor or consumer confidence. All payments for the rights offer must be made in United States dollars, reflecting the market’s rejection of ZiG in favour of hard currency.

So far, shareholders controlling 73% of OK’s stock have committed to the rights issue, leaving a US$5.4 million shortfall. The company has secured underwriting from the National Social Security Authority, Datvest Nominees and Old Mutual to guarantee a portion of the raise.

In parallel, OK Zimbabwe plans to raise US$10.5 million through the disposal of immovable properties, some of which will be leased back to the retailer. These asset sales are being prioritised for their liquidity value given the dire economic conditions.

OK’s financial woes are compounded by internal inefficiencies—including poor capital allocation, delayed creditor engagement, and sluggish innovation—and external pressures such as shrinking consumer demand, rising input costs, and intense competition from informal traders who operate outside regulatory constraints.

As of February 28, 2025, the company owed over US$30 million in outstanding obligations: US$24 million to suppliers, US$5.1 million to service providers, and nearly US$880,000 in unpaid statutory dues.

OK Zimbabwe’s struggle to recapitalise reflects the broader collapse of formal retail in Zimbabwe’s dysfunctional economy. The failure to secure liquidity, even after decades of brand dominance, underscores the magnitude of the crisis facing legacy businesses under the Mnangagwa administration’s mismanaged currency and fiscal reforms.

The renounceable rights offer opens on July 21, 2025, and closes on August 4, 2025.

Senior Government Official Exposes NSSA’s Looting Of Pensioners’ Money

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwean government has publicly acknowledged the long-standing mismanagement and failure of the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), admitting that the institution has failed to fulfill its mandate of protecting pensioners’ welfare and growing the national economy.

Announcing a new NSSA board in Harare on Wednesday, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Edgar Moyo did not mince his words, calling for sweeping reforms and a complete overhaul of how the authority operates. His remarks signal a rare public admission that NSSA has been largely ineffective, marred by years of poor governance and questionable investments.

“For years, NSSA has failed to deliver meaningful benefits to pensioners. The situation is unacceptable,” said Minister Moyo. “The new board must take decisive action to end a legacy of looting, mismanagement, and ineffective oversight. We owe it to our pensioners to fix this broken system.”

The newly appointed board is chaired by Bulawayo Town Clerk Christopher Dube, who replaces Emmanuel Fundira. Charles Shava has also been confirmed as the substantive Managing Director of NSSA. Both men were tasked with leading urgent reforms to restore public trust and financial credibility.

“The Chairperson must lead with boldness and integrity,” Moyo said. “We expect nothing less than a complete turnaround that positions NSSA as a pillar of national development—not a liability.”

The minister acknowledged widespread discontent among pensioners, many of whom have decried the paltry monthly payouts and lack of transparency over how billions in pension funds and assets are managed. “There’s no denying the pain and anger felt by pensioners. They contributed for years, only to receive peanuts,” said Moyo.

Sources close to the ministry say NSSA’s portfolio has been plagued by politically driven investments, inflated procurement deals, and failure to generate returns on major property and equity holdings. While investigations into past corruption cases have been launched, few have led to convictions or restitution.

Moyo urged the new leadership to focus on “cleaning house,” restructuring the fund’s investment strategy, and prioritizing pensioners’ needs. “The mandate is clear: put pensioners first, restore NSSA’s credibility, and contribute meaningfully to economic growth,” he concluded.

This public admission from the government marks a shift in tone and raises expectations that NSSA—long seen as a cash cow for elites—may finally face the scrutiny and reform demanded by the public.

Horror As Man Kills Own Son (2) in Brutal Paternity Dispute….

By A Correspondent

A Fort Rixon man from Matabeleland South has been arrested after allegedly murdering his two-year-old son in a violent outburst over a paternity dispute, leaving the local community reeling in horror.

According to police, the suspect, Israel Chisongo, engaged in a heated confrontation with his wife, Martha Moyo, during which he accused her of infidelity and denied being the biological father of the child.

What began as a domestic argument quickly turned into a brutal act of violence. Authorities allege that Chisongo forcefully seized the child from Moyo’s arms, placed him on the ground, and proceeded to stab and dismember the toddler, reportedly cutting through the infant’s stomach.

The gruesome nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the Fort Rixon area, with villagers expressing disbelief and outrage at the brutality inflicted on the innocent child.

“The suspect is in police custody, and investigations are underway,” said Matabeleland South Police Spokesperson Inspector Chiratidzo Dube, who confirmed the arrest. She urged the public to seek peaceful means of resolving domestic disputes and condemned the senseless act of violence.

The case is expected to be brought before the courts soon as investigators continue compiling evidence.

🔴 Another US$99 Million “Sand Heap” Trabablas Interchange Project Launched in Mutare

The Zimbabwean government has kicked off yet another controversial road construction project — this time a US$99 million “sand heap” interchange and bypass highway in Mutare — sparking fears of a repeat of the widely condemned Mbudzi “Trabablas” Interchange fiasco.

The new project, awarded to Leengate Private Limited, will see two modern traffic interchanges constructed on either end of the 31.2km Christmas Pass Bypass Road, which circumvents the treacherous slopes of Christmas Pass. While officials have hailed it as a long-awaited solution to recurring truck accidents in the area, critics are already warning that the scheme risks becoming yet another multi-million-dollar boondoggle marred by sand heaps, collapsed bridges, delayed works and zero accountability.

Preliminary works quietly began last Thursday, with bush clearance near the Romeo Turn-off, according to Engineer Raphael Sigauke, the Manicaland Provincial Roads Engineer. However, no machinery has yet been deployed on the ground, and there is no published project breakdown, feasibility study, or costed engineering designs accessible to the public — a hallmark of previous murky tenders under the so-called “Second Republic.”

Leengate director Commence Chivanga refused to provide details on the scope of work or procurement process, stating vaguely that “mobilisation is an ongoing process.” This echoes previous evasions during the ill-fated Mbudzi Interchange rollout, which has now gone three years behind schedule, riddled with allegations of corruption, contractor incompetence, and environmental violations.

The Christmas Pass Bypass was first proposed in 1992. For decades, it remained dormant due to lack of funding and public consultation. Suddenly revived under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s infrastructure drive, the current iteration is raising red flags for its lack of transparency, astronomical price tag, and selection of a little-known private contractor without open tendering.

Government sources claim the bypass will reduce traffic pressure and eliminate frequent accidents along the dangerous curves of Christmas Pass. However, independent analysts argue that the proposed interchanges — including one next to Mutare Teachers’ College — appear overdesigned, unnecessary and suspiciously inflated in cost, particularly in a country facing hospitals without paracetamol and workers going months without salaries.

“This is the Mbudzi Interchange disaster 2.0,” said a senior civil engineer who requested anonymity. “The government is repeating the same pattern: no independent oversight, no transparent tender process, and a politically connected company doing the work. In 15 months, expect sand heaps, collapsed culverts, and a press conference blaming sanctions.”

Minister of Transport Felix Mhona confirmed the project has commenced, while Manicaland Minister of State Advocate Misheck Mugadza framed it as “a promise fulfilled by our President.” Neither addressed how Leengate was selected or what mechanisms are in place to audit the US$99 million being pumped into the project.

The bypass road, which will link the Beira Corridor to Zambia, Malawi, and the DRC, will also include the rehabilitation of the problematic Murahwa (Sakubva) Market Bridge, another longstanding infrastructure black hole. However, with Leengate yet to produce a timeline, budget justification, or construction drawings, many fear the bridge revamp — like the rest of the project — will become another symbol of Zimbabwe’s infrastructure without delivery.

With the ghost of Mbudzi still haunting taxpayers, Mutare residents and opposition figures are already calling for a forensic audit and public disclosure of project documents, demanding answers on why the government is continuing to fund interchange white elephants while schools and clinics rot.

Jah Prayzah Rejected US Visa

Jah Prayzah’s U.S. Tour Dates Cancelled Amid Visa Processing Setback

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Washington D.C. / Dallas – June 27, 2025 — Zimbabwean music superstar Jah Prayzah has been forced to cancel his highly anticipated U.S. tour dates after a visa processing issue derailed his travel plans. In a heartfelt statement posted to his official social media channels, the singer confirmed that the scheduled shows for Washington D.C. on July 4 and Dallas on July 5 will no longer take place.

“I write this with a heavy heart,” Jah Prayzah stated, expressing disappointment over the sudden turn of events. He explained that although visa appointments were attended earlier in June, a technical issue on the application forms halted the process, requiring a complete restart. Efforts to secure new appointments before the tour dates were unsuccessful.

“The U.S. Consulate was supportive and tried to assist in every possible way… but some things are simply beyond anyone’s control,” said Jah Prayzah, rejecting rumors that the visas were outright denied. “That is not true but, unfortunately, changes nothing at this point.”

The cancelled performances were part of the Ndini Mukudzei World Tour and had drawn large interest from fans across the United States, many of whom had already purchased tickets and made travel arrangements. The artist assured supporters that full refunds will be issued, and new dates will be announced soon.

Despite the setback, the Canadian leg of the tour remains intact. Shows in Edmonton on July 11 and Toronto on July 12 will proceed as planned. “Everything is in place and we can’t wait to see you there,” Jah Prayzah confirmed.

The incident marks a rare disruption in the singer’s otherwise smooth international touring record and has sparked online discussions about visa access hurdles for African artists.

This development comes amid increased scrutiny of U.S. visa processes for entertainers from the Global South.

OK Zimbabwe Board Quits As Recapitalisation Fails in Collapsing Economy

Mnangagwa Has Escaped State House Spotlight Using Tagwirei

By Baba Jukwa | Through the green mashed up nation addresses of today, Emmerson Mnangagwa has successfully shifted all negative focus from himself to Kuda Tagwirei, a mere runner. This is what he (the Grace Mugabe accused liquidator) has been doing since the 1970s. He never does the dirty work, all that is done by small boys and runners beginning with the lads accused of finishing the liberation fighters in Mozambique (Dec 1979).

ZANU PF structures are now shaking in anger against one person, they believe wants to take over power, turning off their eyes from the person who’s already taken the nation by the neck since 1977, and is only getting stronger.

16 million people are caught up agitated by a boasting tenderpreneur, while Mnangagwa escapes untouched. Will Mnangagwa make it, and what will it take to catch him?

Proudly Zimbabwean: Gorimbo and Lunga Reunite in the U.S. to Support One Another

Sports Correspondent

In a powerful moment of Zimbabwean pride and solidarity, United States-based Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Themba Gorimbo met up with Warriors and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga in the U.S., where Lunga was representing his club at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Although Mamelodi Sundowns have since been knocked out of the tournament, the spirit of camaraderie and national pride remained unshaken as the two athletes took time to reconnect and support each other. Gorimbo, who has become a household name for his inspiring journey from hardship to the UFC, made time to visit Lunga — a gesture that symbolized the unity and resilience of Zimbabwean talent on the global stage.

The two posed for a photo together, capturing a moment of mutual respect between two of Zimbabwe’s top sportsmen — one dominating in the octagon, the other on the pitch.

Gorimbo, known for his humility and deep patriotism, shared how meaningful it was to show up for a fellow Zimbabwean abroad. “Supporting a fellow Zimbabwean always feels right,” he reportedly said. “It’s bigger than sport — it’s about showing the world that Zimbabweans can rise in any arena.”

Lunga, though disappointed by his club’s early exit from the tournament, expressed gratitude for Gorimbo’s encouragement. “It means a lot to be supported by someone like Themba,” Lunga said. “He’s a true warrior, and to know he’s following my journey motivates me even more.”

The meetup has been celebrated by fans back home as a symbol of unity and shared ambition among Zimbabwean athletes. One user on social media summed it up best: “This is the Zimbabwe we love to see — unity, success, and support.”

As Gorimbo continues his ascent in the UFC and Lunga regroups with Mamelodi Sundowns, their brief but meaningful encounter serves as a reminder that even in moments of setback, the spirit of Zimbabwean excellence and brotherhood remains strong — crossing disciplines, borders, and challenges.

Brendan Galloway Returns from Injury, Eyes Comeback Season with Plymouth Argyle

Sports Correspondent

Zimbabwe international defender Brendan Galloway has successfully returned to full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.

Galloway suffered a leg injury in January 2025 during the closing stages of Plymouth Argyle’s 1-1 draw against Oxford United at Home Park. The setback required surgery and kept him out for the remainder of the season, dealing a major blow to both his club and international prospects.

As a result, the 28-year-old was also unavailable for Zimbabwe’s international friendlies against Burkina Faso and Niger in June, missing out on valuable national team action.

However, in a welcome development for both club and country, Galloway was spotted participating in Plymouth Argyle’s first day of pre-season training on Friday. His presence on the pitch marks a significant milestone in his recovery and sets the stage for a potential return to competitive action ahead of the new season.

Despite Argyle’s relegation from the English Championship to League One, Galloway is set to remain with the club as he enters the final year of his contract, which runs until June 2026.

The defender’s return brings a boost to Argyle’s defensive options as they aim to bounce back to the Championship, while Zimbabwe fans will be hopeful that he reclaims his spot in the Warriors squad ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

Grace Mugabe Turns 60

By A Correspondent

Former First Lady Grace Mugabe, once one of Zimbabwe’s most powerful and controversial figures, will turn 60 on July 23, marking a milestone in a life that has been anything but ordinary.

Popularly known as Dr Amai or Dr Stop It during her political peak, Grace Mugabe played a central role in Zimbabwe’s turbulent political landscape—particularly in the dramatic fall of her husband, the late former President Robert Mugabe, in 2017.

A senior ZANU-PF source commented on the upcoming birthday, saying: “The former First Lady, who used to be known as ‘Gucci Grace’—during her hey days—because of her high fashion sense, will soon be 60 on 23 July. Dr Amai Grace Mugabe, 59, is truly getting better with age.”

Grace Mugabe’s political rise was rapid and divisive. She was thrust into the heart of factional battles within ZANU-PF, first as an ally of Team Lacoste—then led by Emmerson Mnangagwa—in a campaign to dislodge then-Vice President Joice Mujuru. Ironically, she later found herself at odds with the same group, culminating in the 2017 military intervention that ended her husband’s decades-long rule.

Despite retreating from the public eye following Mugabe’s ouster and death, Grace Mugabe remains a figure of interest in Zimbabwean politics and society. Her 60th birthday is expected to be marked quietly at the family’s rural retreat in Zvimba.

Advocate Thabani Mpofu, Tagwirei Clash Over Sanyatwe’s Zanu PF Will Rule Forever “Sermon” On SDA Pulpit

Tinashe Sambiri

Prominent constitutional lawyer Advocate Thabani Mpofu, who is closely associated with opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, has taken legal action against the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, accusing it of desecrating its pulpit by allowing senior ZANU PF figures to promote partisan political views during a church service.

In a strongly-worded letter addressed to the SDA leadership on Wednesday, Advocate Mpofu—through Mtetwa and Nyambirai Legal Practitioners—expressed deep dismay at what he described as a “perverse and degenerate” act that has shaken his faith in the church.

“It has become necessary for action to be taken against the SDA Church,” said Mpofu. “I thank the royal gladiator, Beatrice Mtetwa, for agreeing to go to war with me. It is necessary for us to say NO to degenerate madness and nonsense.”

The letter outlines Advocate Mpofu’s outrage at events that took place on June 14, 2025, during an evangelical campaign dubbed Operation Macedonia in Nyanga. According to Mpofu, ZANU PF-linked businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei invited Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe—now also a ZANU PF politician—to address congregants from the SDA pulpit without the prior consent of the church’s regional leaders.

Once on the pulpit, Sanyatwe is said to have made “partisan political declarations,” including the assertion that ZANU PF would govern Zimbabwe indefinitely, mockingly claiming its rule would only end when “donkeys grow horns.” He also dismissed previous objections to such statements as mere “barking.”

“Our client is a baptised member of the SDA Church and fellowships in an area under the East Zimbabwe Conference (EZC) and the Zimbabwe East Union Conference (ZEUC),” the letter reads. “It does not help matters that this unblushing blasphemy occurred during an evangelical campaign and would have served to reduce the SDA Church in the eyes of the converts to a fly-by-night outfit prepared to append itself to political fortune.”

Advocate Mpofu further took aim at SDA leaders Pastor Musara (ZEUC President) and Pastor Timuri (EZC President), who were reportedly present during the incident but failed to intervene. “The fact that Messrs Musara and Timuri did nothing to arrest the desecration, did not stand to correct it and have still not done anything to this very day can only mean that they make common cause with it,” the letter stated.

The legal complaint references violations of several governing documents within the SDA Church, including the SID Working Policy, which strictly forbids using denominational platforms for personal or partisan gain. Specific reference was made to Section S 55 25, which prohibits associating the denomination with outside political or business interests.

“Our client contends that the misuse of the SDA pulpit on the holy Sabbath of the Lord is a violation and negation of the SID Working Policy, the ZEUC Constitution, the EZC Constitution, the SDA Church Manual, as well the Holy Scriptures to whose authority the church unerringly yields,” the lawyers argued.

Quoting from the SDA Church Manual, the letter emphasized that “the pulpit must be reserved for the preaching of the truths of the Divine Word,” not for the “advancement of political views.”

In closing, Mpofu’s lawyers warned that failure to address the issue not only undermines the spiritual integrity of the church but also risks reducing it to a “political tool.”

“The only kingdom that has the durability suggested by Sanyatwe is that of Christ and, as it turns out, it is only for that kingdom that the SDA pulpit is consecrated,” the letter concluded.

As of now, the SDA Church leadership has not issued a public response to the legal action.

Tagwirei Dismisses Presidential Ambitions, Says Mnangagwa Will Rule Until 2030

By Tinashe Sambiri

Controversial businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has dismissed speculation that he harbours presidential ambitions, declaring that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will remain in power beyond 2028—until at least 2030.

Speaking at a Land Tenure Programme hosted at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo on Wednesday, Tagwirei said there was no leadership vacuum in Zimbabwe that would warrant such speculation.

“There is no vacancy for the presidency because President Emmerson Mnangagwa will rule until 2030,” said Tagwirei. “I am a businessman—why should I look for something that does not exist?”

Tagwirei, who has often been linked to powerful political circles and accused of wielding outsized influence in government affairs, also made controversial remarks about economic participation.

“If you are not a tenderpreneur, you are foolish,” he said, using a term often associated with politically connected individuals who benefit from government contracts.

His comments come amid rising debate about succession within the ruling ZANU PF party and uncertainty over Zimbabwe’s post-2028 political landscape. President Mnangagwa, whose second term constitutionally ends in 2028, has yet to publicly state whether he will seek to extend his stay in office.

As of now, Tagwirei’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism from opposition figures and civil society groups, who view them as part of an emerging campaign to justify an unconstitutional extension of Mnangagwa’s rule.

Jacob Zuma’s Daughter Runs Away from King Mswati: “It’s Been Months Without a Husband”

By A Correspondent…

In a shocking development that has captured regional attention, South African publication Limpopo Newspaper has reported that Nomcebo Zuma, daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, has left her royal husband, King Mswati III of Eswatini.

Nomcebo, just 22 years old, was one of the youngest wives of Africa’s last absolute monarch. Her abrupt departure from the royal palace has sent shockwaves through both the South African and Eswatini communities, with royal insiders reportedly scrambling to contain the fallout.

According to Limpopo Newspaper, “King Mswati’s wife, Jacob Zuma’s daughter Nomcebo (22), leaves polygamous marriage saying it’s been months without a husband.” The report suggests that Nomcebo felt neglected and disillusioned with the realities of royal life, which, despite its privileges, has been marked by long periods of emotional and physical isolation.

“She told close friends that being married into royalty is not what she expected,” a family source allegedly told the paper. “She said it’s been months without a husband, and she felt more like a prisoner in a golden cage than a wife.”

King Mswati, known for his extravagant lifestyle and controversial polygamous marriages, has faced criticism over the years for how he manages his royal household. With over a dozen wives, some former spouses have previously spoken out about the challenges of royal life, ranging from restrictive traditions to lack of personal freedom.

What makes this incident particularly significant is the political and cultural weight it carries. The union between Nomcebo Zuma and King Mswati was seen by many as a symbol of alliance between two prominent southern African political legacies. Her departure, therefore, is not just a personal matter—it reverberates through diplomatic and cultural channels as well.

In response to her sudden move, the Limpopo Newspaper reports that a “royal delegation runs to Nkandla–KwaZulu Natal to negotiate her return.” Nkandla, Jacob Zuma’s controversial homestead, is now at the center of behind-the-scenes talks aimed at persuading Nomcebo to return to the palace.

Thus far, the Zuma family has not issued an official statement. However, sources close to the family suggest that Jacob Zuma has been deeply involved in the situation, reportedly expressing disappointment that his daughter was “not given the care she deserves.”

While King Mswati’s court has remained tight-lipped, speculation continues to mount about what this means for the stability of the royal household and future relations between the Zuma family and the Eswatini monarchy.

Whether or not Nomcebo will return remains uncertain. But her brave decision to walk away from one of Africa’s most powerful thrones has reignited public debate about gender roles, freedom, and modernity within traditional royal structures.

As one South African social media user commented, “She chose herself. And maybe, just maybe, that’s more powerful than any crown.”

Protests In Kenya: Citizens Reject Ruto’s Controversial Tax Bill

NAIROBI, June 25 (Reuters) – At least sixteen people were killed during nationwide anti-government protests in Kenya on Wednesday, most of them allegedly by police forces, according to Amnesty International Kenya.

The demonstrations marked one year since violent protests over a controversial tax bill culminated in the storming of parliament.

Thousands of demonstrators filled the streets across the country, including in the capital, Nairobi, to commemorate the anniversary of last year’s protests, during which over 60 people lost their lives. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons, local media and a Reuters witness reported.

“Sixteen people have been verified dead as of 8:30 a.m.,” said Irungu Houghton, Executive Director of Amnesty Kenya, in an interview with Reuters. “Most were killed by police,” he added, noting that at least five victims had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The death toll was jointly verified by Amnesty International and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).

KNCHR, a government-funded watchdog, earlier confirmed eight fatalities, all reportedly resulting from gunshot wounds. In a statement on its official X account, KNCHR reported, “Over 400 casualties have been documented, including demonstrators, police officers, and journalists.”

The commission cited a heavy police presence and raised concerns about “allegations of excessive use of force, including rubber bullets, live ammunition and water cannons, resulting in numerous injuries.”

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), another state agency, said at least 61 people were arrested during the protests.

Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi’s largest public hospital, received dozens of wounded protesters, a hospital official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Kenyan police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga declined to comment on the reports or provide a police casualty assessment when contacted by Reuters.

The protests, largely driven by youth-led movements, continue to highlight growing frustration with President William Ruto’s administration over economic pressures and perceived government overreach.

Kuda Tagwirei says “if You Are Not a Tenderpreneur, You Are Foolish!”

He says- “If you are not a tenderpreneur, you are foolish. If you are not a tenderpreneur, you are foolish. There is the biggest buyer or seller in this country is government. So if you do not want to get a tender, from the biggest supplier, the biggest buyer, where are you going to get your business from? So anyone who tells you that you must not get tenders is foolish. You must actually strive to get a tender from government. Those who are saying these ones are tenderpreneurs are jealous because they don’t get the tenders. Because if you have the tender, you will not say you are a tenderpreneur. In fact, I would rather be called a tenderpreneur. Let me tell you this. Do you know a gentleman by the name Elon Musk? Who knows Elon Musk? Elon Musk, Elon Musk, someone? Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, is a tenderpreneur. Because his biggest contracts are with the American government. So he won those contracts. That coining of that word was done by white people to discourage black people to get access to business from governments. Now, there are two stages of business. You can be a manufacturer, you can be a trader. There is nothing wrong with you being a trader. Where you have the access to markets, you must buy from this one who does not have. Some of the biggest companies in the world, like Glencoe, are traders. Vitrol, Traders, Trafigura. These are multi-billion companies. But their biggest contracts are with governments all over the world. And those companies are white-owned. So we, Zimbabweans, must be owners of our own destiny. And if I can get a tender or many tenders, I will get them. You can call me whatever name you want. I don’t care. So you must also want the same.”

Prosecutors Arrested For Extorting A Traditional Healer

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested two public prosecutors, Takunda Muzenda and Marlon Makamba, stationed at Rusape Magistrates Court, on charges of criminal abuse of duty after allegedly extorting a traditional healer over a case pending before the courts.

The traditional healer was arrested in June 2023 by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Rusape for allegedly threatening Praise Mutume with harm over unpaid a debt.

The traditional healer’s wife reportedly approached the arresting officer seeking assistance for her husband’s release and was linked to Makamba, who demanded $250.00 and was paid $189.00.

On June 17, 2025, Muzenda allegedly summoned the traditional healer, advised that he was now handling the case, and demanded $500.00, claiming $300.00 was for the magistrate and $200.00 for himself to destroy the case docket.

Muzenda was allegedly paid $400.00 and assured the traditional healer that court attendance was unnecessary.

However, despite the payments, a warrant of arrest was issued against the traditional healer on June 24, 2025, and he confronted Muzenda, who failed to provide an explanation.

Realising he had been duped, the complainant reported the matter to ZACC, and a trap was set up, leading to the arrest of the accused persons.

Muzenda and Makamba are set to appear at Mutare Magistrates Court on June 27, 2025, for their initial remand.

ED Captures Mafume, Saves Him From Going To Chikurubi

By Municipal Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly intervened to shield Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume from potential jail time despite damning findings of corruption and mismanagement at Town House, raising fresh concerns about the mayor’s suspected political capture by Zanu PF.

This follows the release of a Commission of Inquiry report led by retired High Court judge Justice Maphios Cheda, which exposed massive rot at the Harare City Council.

The report uncovered gross abuse of office by senior officials, including unexplained perks, unjustified foreign trips, and luxury vehicle acquisitions—while the city faces a total collapse in basic service delivery.

Despite the gravity of the findings, the report curiously singled out Mafume for praise, describing him as a “lone wolf” in the fight against corruption. Mnangagwa echoed this sentiment, going so far as to declare that Mafume would “remain in his post forever.”

Observers say this conspicuous praise is part of a broader political strategy to co-opt opposition figures and install pliable actors in key positions ahead of the 2028 elections.

Mafume, once a vocal critic of Zanu PF and a senior official in the opposition MDC Alliance, has long been accused of abandoning the democratic movement in favour of political survival.

His association with self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary-General Sengezo Tshabangu, who has been instrumental in orchestrating recalls of elected CCC officials to the benefit of Zanu PF, has fuelled suspicions of collusion.

Sources within Town House allege that Mafume has maintained close ties with Tshabangu and is now a key asset in Zanu PF’s efforts to destabilize the opposition and neutralize independent urban governance.

By siding with the ruling party’s agenda, Mafume has reportedly secured immunity from prosecution in exchange for loyalty.

The Cheda-led commission exposed staggering financial abuses.

The city’s top executives were found to be earning between US$15,000 and US$30,000 per month, while Harare’s residents suffer under mounting garbage, erratic water supplies, sewer bursts, and a worsening cholera outbreak.

City bosses spent over US$124,000 on foreign junkets and blew more than US$1 million on luxury vehicles during the election season—all without Local Government Board approval.

Reuben Akilli, director of the Combined Harare Residents Association, called for a complete overhaul of the city’s governance structure:
“Residents are paying the price for maladministration and corruption. We expect the President to prioritize local government reform in Parliament. Heads must roll.”

Precious Shumba, coordinator of the Harare Residents Trust, demanded that senior managers be removed to make way for professional junior staff.
“There is no longer any justification to keep those who have failed the city,” Shumba said.

Despite growing calls for accountability, council executives and Mafume himself have remained silent, reportedly waiting for Mnangagwa’s directive.

This silence, coupled with Mafume’s perceived protection by State House, has led critics to conclude that Harare’s mayor has been fully absorbed into Zanu PF’s patronage network.

As panic grips Town House and implicated officials scramble for spiritual intervention to avoid dismissal or prosecution, the residents of Harare are left with sewage in the streets, dry taps, and collapsing infrastructure—while their supposed champion is praised by the very system he once opposed.

Tagwirei Denies Presidential Ambition In Mnangagwa Style

By A Correspondent| Controversial businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has dismissed growing speculation linking him to a bid to succeed President Emmerson Mnangagwa, labeling the talk “foolish” and affirming his loyalty to the Zanu PF leader whom he insists will remain in power until 2030.

Addressing a gathering in Bulawayo yesterday, Tagwirei — who is widely seen as one of the most influential figures behind the scenes in Zimbabwean politics — denied any interest in high office and instead launched a blistering attack on opposition politicians and internal party critics he accused of fuelling the succession narrative.

“There is no vacancy in the Office of the President. President ED Mnangagwa is the President until 2030,” Tagwirei declared. “I am a businessman… stop being foolish. Why should I be looking for something that does not exist?”

He continued: “It’s foolish for me… why should I waste my energy on something that does not exist? The President is going to be there up to 2030. So anyone who says that, they are foolish in their own thinking because there is no vacancy in the Presidency.”

The businessman, who referred to himself as a “soldier” of Mnangagwa, added, “A soldier who has been sent by the very President who is going to be there until 2030. Anyone who thinks that should go and sleep… they are dreaming.”

Tagwirei’s comments come amid swirling rumours that the politically connected tycoon is positioning himself for leadership in a post-Mnangagwa era, especially as the ruling Zanu PF party navigates internal divisions and succession tensions.

In a rare public political outburst, Tagwirei also took aim at opposition politicians and former Zanu PF officials, accusing them of hypocrisy on corruption.

“The people who speak the most about corruption are the most corrupt,” he said. “The President does not speak about people. I learn from the President — he speaks about his vision. So I follow the President’s vision. It’s not about corruption; it’s about building the country.”

Without holding back, he mentioned Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) senior leader Tendai Biti and exiled former minister Saviour Kasukuwere by name.

“If I were to stand here — and Tendai Biti knows this — and I start to talk about his corrupt activities, toenda kupi (where will we go)? As for Kasukuwere, he is one of the most corrupt people I know. So we don’t celebrate people and their misgivings; we celebrate work and moving forward,” said Tagwirei.

The businessman’s remarks signal an increasingly combative posture as his public profile continues to grow. Critics say his growing political influence, particularly through economic dominance and close ties to the President, has made him a central player in Zimbabwe’s succession dynamics — something he appears keen to deny.

However, Tagwirei’s forceful rejection of the presidency rumours and his call for loyalty to Mnangagwa are likely to be seen by some as a calculated move to both defuse speculation and solidify his position as a kingmaker rather than a contender.

Court Orders Land Developer Leengate to Demolish Structures on Part of Rainham Farm

By A Correspondent| A prominent land development company, Leengate (Private) Limited, has been ordered by the High Court to vacate land at Rainham Farm within 30 days, after it emerged the company had encroached onto another party’s property where quarrying operations were taking place.

Leengate was sued by Mitchell Corporation (Private) Limited for encroaching onto its Stand No. 643.

Mitchell Corporation applied for a summary judgment in an action seeking eviction and removal of structures.

According to Mitchell Corporation, Leengate or its agents were erecting buildings and other structures on its land without any legal right, permission, or lease agreement.

The corporation sought a summary order for the ejectment of Leengate and anyone claiming through it from the property, as well as the demolition or removal of all structures erected on the land.

Leengate, however, wanted the matter to go to a full trial.

The second respondent, Zvimba Rural District Council, the local authority for the area, was cited due to its administrative interest in the land, although no specific relief beyond its formal citation was sought against it.

Leengate denied encroaching onto Mitchell Corporation’s land and claimed that one LLH Engineering Projects (Pvt) Ltd was the actual occupier or builder on the land in question.

Leengate argued that the applicant had sued the wrong party.

Zvimba RDC did not file any opposing affidavit and took a neutral position, indicating it would abide by the court’s decision.

After hearing the parties, High Court judge Justice Joel Mambara ruled in favour of the applicant and ordered Leengate and its agents to vacate the land, also awarding costs on a legal practitioner-client scale against the developer.

The judge noted that Leengate had provided virtually no detail about LLH Engineering Projects (Pvt) Ltd, apart from naming it as the alleged occupier.

“The opposing affidavit does little more than assert ‘the structures belong to LLH, not us’. It does not explain the relationship (if any) between the first respondent and LLH Engineering — for example, whether LLH is a completely independent third party that coincidentally built on Stand 643, or perhaps a subcontractor or business partner of the first respondent in the Rainham development project.

“The first respondent did not tender any affidavit from LLH Engineering, nor any documentary proof (such as an agreement, a council lease, or correspondence) indicating that LLH Engineering was authorised by the council or anyone else to build on Stand 643. One would expect that if LLH Engineering truly and independently moved onto Stand 643, the first respondent could at least describe how that came about — especially since Leengate itself is involved in development projects in the same locale (indeed, the ‘Rainham Park’ housing development has been linked to Leengate in the background).

“The stark absence of any supporting detail or third-party confirmation raises serious doubt about the genuineness of this defence,” said the judge.

Justice Mambara said Leengate’s mere pointing of the finger at a non-party, without more, amounted to a “bald or sketchy” averment that failed to pass muster as a bona fide defence.

“It is therefore an appropriate exercise of this Court’s discretion to order costs against the first respondent on the legal practitioner and client scale.

“Such an order ensures that the applicant is more fully indemnified for the legal expenses it incurred due to the first respondent’s conduct, and it serves as a rebuke of the first respondent’s abuse of the court process.

“The applicant should not be out of pocket for having to chase a party that had no valid defence and yet refused to concede.”

The judge added that the applicant had met the requirements for summary judgment and that the first respondent had failed to establish a bona fide defence or triable issue.

“The first respondent, Leengate (Private) Limited, and all persons claiming occupation through the first respondent, be and are hereby ejected from Stand 643 Rainham Farm, Zvimba District, Mashonaland West.

“This eviction encompasses the removal of any employees, contractors, agents, or associates of the first respondent, and includes any other entity (such as LLH Engineering Projects (Pvt) Ltd) or persons who occupy the property under or through the authority of the first respondent.

“The first respondent shall, within 30 days of service of this order upon it, remove all structures, buildings, materials, plant, equipment, and installations that it or anyone acting on its behalf (or through it) has erected or placed on Stand 643 Rainham Farm.

“The removal shall be carried out safely and without avoidable damage to the land, and the site shall be restored, as far as reasonably possible, to its original condition prior to the first respondent’s occupation,” said the judge.

Justice Mambara further ruled that, in the event Leengate or those claiming occupation through it fail to vacate the property or fully comply within the stipulated 30-day period, the Sheriff of the High Court or his lawful deputy is authorised and directed to evict the first respondent and any other unlawful occupiers from Stand 643 Rainham Farm.

The Sheriff is also authorised and directed to demolish, dismantle, and/or remove any structures or materials remaining on the property that were erected or placed there by the first respondent or its agents, and to restore possession of the property to the applicant.

He added that the Sheriff may enlist the assistance of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and/or the second respondent (Zvimba Rural District Council) to the extent necessary to carry out this order and ensure compliance in a peaceful and safe manner.

The RDC was ordered to cooperate with and facilitate the enforcement of this order to the extent that any administrative action or permission on its part is required.

During the hearing, and in support of its claim, the applicant proved that, for instance, in mid-2024, when the encroachment was discovered, communications were exchanged involving the council and the first respondent.

Notably, an email dated 15 July 2024 from the council, addressed to the applicant and copied to a representative of the first respondent (one K. Bhunu), confirmed that a council inspection had found a durawall (boundary wall) built by the occupier of adjacent Stand 179 was indeed encroaching onto the applicant’s Stand 643.

In that email, the council reported the encroachment and indicated that the occupier of Stand 179 had been instructed to rectify the anomaly (remove or realign the wall).

The following day, 16 July 2024, the applicant’s legal practitioners sent a letter of demand to Leengate, formally complaining of the encroachment.

In response, on 27 July 2024, Leengate’s legal practitioners replied in writing, effectively acknowledging the encroachment and proposing a resolution.

In that letter, Leengate’s lawyers confirmed they also represented LLH Engineering Projects (Pvt) Ltd — a company closely associated with the first respondent — and explained that these two companies held the adjacent Stands 179 and 644, with the applicant’s Stand 643 lying between them.

The letter further indicated that those entities were operating a quarry on Stand 179 and proposed a compromise arrangement: a boundary adjustment that would reduce the applicant’s land to cure the encroachment, with the first respondent financing the re-survey; or, alternatively, an outright purchase of Stand 643 from the applicant.

In essence, Leengate at that stage offered to compensate for or eliminate the encroachment by realigning property boundaries or purchasing the land — implicitly conceding that the encroachment had occurred.

Despite these discussions and the first respondent’s written undertakings to rectify the situation, nothing was done on the ground to remove the offending structures or resolve the issue.

Eventually, frustrated by the lack of concrete remedial action, the applicant issued summons in the High Court, leading to the present proceedings.

Leengate’s plea to the summons, however, painted a very different picture.

In its plea, Leengate denied encroaching on the applicant’s land, offering little more than bare denials, and notably made no mention of LLH Engineering or the earlier communications and admissions.

Only after the applicant filed the summary judgment application did Leengate raise a new defence in its opposing affidavit — that LLH Engineering Projects (Pvt) Ltd, not Leengate, was the party responsible for the structures on Stand 643.

The court said this shift in position — from tacitly acknowledging encroachment and proposing a compromise, to later denying any responsibility and blaming a third party — undermined Leengate’s defence.

Chief Blocks Life-Saving Clinic Over Village Court in Murehwa

By A Correspondent| In a move that has left many residents stunned, a traditional leader in Murehwa has filed a court application to stop the conversion of an abandoned farmhouse into a clinic, arguing that the building is being used as his community court.

Chief Mangwende, born Morgan Gatsi, approached the Murehwa Magistrates Court on June 11 seeking an interdict against the government’s efforts to establish a rural health facility at Hilton Farm. His objection? That the same farmhouse—unoccupied for years—is where he holds village court sessions.

The chief’s resistance comes despite overwhelming support for the clinic from local councillors, government officials, and villagers desperate for access to healthcare. Communities in Murehwa South currently walk over 20 kilometres to reach the nearest clinic.

While acknowledging the need for improved health services, Chief Mangwende insisted the farmhouse was vital for dispensing traditional justice.

“Much as I support the respondents’ effort to open a clinic in the area, I disagree that it should be based in the building at Hilton Farm since a community court is already established there,” he stated in his court submissions.

However, critics argue that the chief’s stance borders on pettiness, placing personal prestige and traditional authority above the pressing health needs of thousands. The farmhouse in question had remained idle and neglected for years before it was identified as a potential health post to ease pressure on Virginia and Waterloo clinics.

“This is a glaring case of misplaced priorities,” said a health worker in Murehwa who requested anonymity. “A single room used once or twice a week for a village court is being valued more than a clinic that could save lives every single day.”

The government’s initiative aimed to serve multiple farming and resettlement areas including Chilinda, Glenwaves, Pagomba, Langjam Konine, Dontlestone, Kasipiti, and River Baller—communities that have long suffered from the lack of nearby healthcare services.

Chief Mangwende’s legal action has drawn the ire of many residents, some of whom accused him of sabotaging development.

“He wants people to keep walking 20km just so he can hold court in an empty house?” one irate villager asked. “We need doctors and nurses, not fines and punishments.”

The chief cited the Ministries of Local Government and Lands, Murehwa South MP Noah Mangondo, Zanu PF Murehwa DCC chairperson Israel Maliki, area councillor Wellington Hodzi, and a local development activist George Dzemwa as respondents in his court case.

Hilton Farm was subdivided into 53 plots during the land reform programme in the early 2000s. With the rapid growth of surrounding communities, the need for accessible healthcare has become urgent.

As the case awaits determination in court, locals continue to hope that common sense and public interest will prevail over territorial pride.

LUNGU HAS TWO NRC NUMBERS, COURT TOLD

25 JULY 2019

A state witness has told the Lusska magistrate that president Edgar Lungu has two NRC numbers.

And another state witness says he can’t tell whether the current president is the same person who added the name ‘Chagwa’ to Edgar Lungu.

And a third government witness has told the court that Lungu’s admission letter to UNZA was addressed to someone called ‘M Lungu’ to which defence lawyers say ‘M’ stands for Mutaware.

This is in the ongoing trial of labour Party president Fraser Siwale. Siwale is being persecuted for saying that Mr Lungu is not a Zambian but a foreigner born near Mount Mlanje in Nyansaland. Siwale asserts that the current president of Zambia’ s real name is Mutaware Lungu.

Agness Musonda, a registrar at the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship testified that she received a letter from the Inspector General of Police requesting verification of two National Registration Card (NRC) numbers which belong to president Lungu.

But the government witness tried to explain that the second NRC was given to president Lungu when he added the name ‘Chagwa’ to his NRC. She said the first one was 216992/67/1 and the second one was NRC number 652489/11/1.

“I provided this information to the Zambia Police through the office of the Inspector General…on November, 18 1986 Lungu Edgar added Chagwa to the name and the changes were recorded at the back of the records as is the case when someone changes, or loses a card. And as of today, the records show Edgar Chagwa Lungu on NRC number 216992/67/1,” she said.

This is clearly not true. When you get a replacement of your NRC, the number does not change. It’s probably the most important and distinct detail of the NRC.

Meanwhile, Government printers Gazette editor Philemon Kapukanya told the court that someone called Edgar Lungu advertised for the inclusion of ‘Chagwa’ to his name.
But when challenged by defence lawyers, Kapukanya said the advert had no photos and that some documents were destroyed so he could not ascertain which Edgar Lungu applied for the changes. He said this is very true especially that there could be many other people called Edgar Lungu.

And UNZA Registrar Sitali Wamundila told the court that Edgar Lungu’s admission letter to UNZA contained errors on the name. The letter was addressed to ‘M Lungu’ which the lawyers said ‘M’ stood for Mutaware.

But Wamundila who was not even yet in primary school when these things happened said the ‘M’ stood for Mister.

Protests In Kenya : Citizens Refuse To Be Intimidated By Ruto Regime

Chombo ‘Death’ Rumours Fuel Mliswa–Marian Fight

By A Correspondent – Rumours of the death of veteran politician Ignatius Chombo on Wednesday sent shockwaves across Zimbabwe, reigniting the long-standing public feud between his ex-wife Marian Chombo and former Norton MP Temba Mliswa.

Chombo, one of Zimbabwe’s longest-serving cabinet ministers under the late President Robert Mugabe, was prematurely declared dead on social media. The reports were quickly quashed by his former wife and current Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Marian Chombo, who issued a public statement confirming that he was alive.

However, it was Marian’s public denial that provoked a scathing response from Temba Mliswa, who took to social media to question her authority to speak on behalf of Chombo’s family.

“Allow the family to speak please. Chombo has a wife already, Sisy Bessy. You are now only a baby mama. How do you even know he’s home unless you live there too? Leave the real immediate family to respond,” Mliswa wrote in a tweet laced with both English and Shona.

The online exchange has brought to light once again the bitter personal and political tensions between Mliswa and Marian, who have clashed repeatedly in the past. Mliswa has accused Marian of corruption and abuse of office, particularly in relation to illegal mining operations and land deals in Mashonaland West.

Just last week, Mliswa was arrested at his Spring Farm in Karoi, a development he claims was politically motivated and orchestrated by Marian and senior police officials.

“Breaking News! Today, I was arrested by a formidable contingent of 12 armed Law and Order officers from the ZRP in Chinhoyi, all orchestrated by the Officer Commanding Mash West, Commissioner Tawonei Nyazema, who is clearlyscurrying around to clean his criminal trail,” Mliswa posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

He alleges that his arrest was a direct response to a series of exposés in which he accused Marian Chombo and Commissioner Nyazema of being part of a “clandestine criminal cartel” involving illegal Chinese mining in the Sanyati area.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi could not be reached for comment.

Chombo’s Long Political Journey

Ignatius Chombo served as a key figure in Zimbabwe’s post-independence political landscape. He held various cabinet posts over two decades, including:

  • Minister of Local Government, Public Works and Urban Development (2000–2015) – the position for which he is most remembered, having implemented controversial urban housing policies.
  • Minister of Home Affairs (2015–2017)
  • Minister of Finance and Economic Development (2017) – his final cabinet post, briefly held just before Mugabe’s ouster during the November 2017 military coup.

Chombo was known for his loyalty to the Mugabe regime and was a prominent member of the G40 faction, which was opposed to the military-backed Lacoste faction led by Emmerson Mnangagwa. Following the coup, Chombo was arrested and charged with corruption, though some of the cases later stalled in the courts.

The sudden circulation of his death rumours this week—despite being false—has once again thrust Chombo and his legacy into the spotlight, while simultaneously exposing the deep divisions and unresolved rivalries within the ruling elite.

Mnangagwa Loses Power

By A Correspondent – Zanu PF internal restructuring exercises currently underway have revealed growing discontent and dwindling grassroots participation with the party losing support in Mashonaland West province following the recent expulsion of war veteran and outspoken former Zanu PF official Blessed Geza.

Zanu PF is currently conducting a cell verification exercise in Makonde, Hurungwe, and Sanyati districts to prepare for the co-option of new central committee members.

However, the process has been marred by poor attendance, internal divisions, and unresolved tensions dating back to the 2023 general elections.

In Sanyati, the expulsion of Geza—who openly called for the removal of President Emmerson Mnangagwa—has left a vacuum and stirred divisions.

Geza, a respected war veteran, gained notoriety for criticizing Mnangagwa’s leadership, accusing him of betraying the values of the liberation struggle and presiding over a corrupt, authoritarian regime.

His bold stance, which resonated with sections of disgruntled war veterans and party loyalists, ultimately cost him his position in the party.

The leadership contest to replace Geza has drawn figures such as Mines Deputy Minister Polite Kambamura, businessman Jimaya Muduvuri, and Kudakwashe Nduya.

However, insiders say the infighting and lack of cohesion have severely disrupted the party’s organizational momentum in the area.

In Hurungwe, another power struggle is unfolding between Reuben Marumahoko and Ability Gandawa, both vying to replace the imprisoned former Deputy Finance Minister Terrence Mukupe.

In Makonde, Phineas Makumbe, Tommy Mwanza, Simba Ziyambi, and Locadia Gwati are competing to succeed Kindness Paradza, now a commissioner at the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.

Meanwhile, there will be no co-option in Chinhoyi to replace controversial businessman Mike Chimombe, who remains in remand prison facing fraud-related charges.

Sources within the party said the cell verification process is progressing at a snail’s pace.

Some areas, such as Bumi Hills, reportedly recorded zero attendance, while others, including Cheuchi in Mhangura, attracted as few as eight people.

Ward 4 in Chinhoyi had the highest turnout with 550 people.

In a letter seen by NewsDay, provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka acknowledged the challenges facing the process. “We noted low attendance, which indicates either poor communication or poor planning.

In both cases, the work will be redone to ensure no one is left out,” she wrote. “Some absences were due to unresolved issues with sitting MPs. This is unfortunate, but this process is about the party and its structures; therefore, it must proceed.”

Mliswa-Chikoka also reprimanded officials in Chegutu district, accusing them of undermining the verification exercise. “Worse still, some attempted to incite disunity and rebellion against this vital exercise. Let this be a clear warning to the Chegutu administrative leadership that this behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at all,” she said.

Mashonaland West was once a stronghold of Zanu PF during the late former President Robert Mugabe’s reign.

However, since the 2017 coup that ousted Mugabe and installed Mnangagwa, internal fractures have widened, and support in the province has weakened, now made more apparent by the fallout from Geza’s ouster and the turmoil gripping the party’s grassroots.

Simba Bhora, FC Platinum Clash In Explosive Tie

Sports Correspondent

ZVISHAVANE – The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League roars into the second half with a high-stakes showdown as defending champions Simba Bhora take on perennial contenders FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.

Simba Bhora, who closed the first half of the season at the summit with 35 points, will be looking to tighten their grip on top spot as they face an in-form FC Platinum side that remains unbeaten after 16 games. With MWOS breathing down their necks—just a point behind—there’s no room for error.

FC Platinum, currently sixth on the table with 24 points, have earned a reputation for resilience, drawing 12 times and winning four matches so far. A victory over Simba Bhora could catapult them into the top-four conversation and simultaneously throw a wrench into the defending champions’ title ambitions.

History favors the hosts, who lead the head-to-head tally with three wins from five meetings. Simba Bhora have claimed victory just once, while their most recent fixture ended in a goalless stalemate earlier this season.

The weekend’s action also features several crucial matchups. On Saturday, TelOne face Herentals at Ascot Stadium, ZPC Kariba host Dynamos at Nyamhunga Stadium, and Yadah square off against Manica Diamonds at Heart Stadium. Bikita Minerals meet Chicken Inn at Gibbo, while Baobab Stadium will see Ngezi Platinum battle Kwekwe United.

Sunday promises fireworks too, with Highlanders locking horns with second-placed MWOS at Barbourfields Stadium. Meanwhile, CAPS United host Green Fuel at Rufaro, and Triangle United go head-to-head with Scotland FC at Gibbo Stadium.

Malaria-Related Deaths Rise in 2025

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe has emerged from its peak malaria transmission season amid growing concerns over a spike in infections and fatalities. Health authorities are now evaluating the full impact of the recent surge.

According to Dr Aspect Maunganidze, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the country has recorded a noticeable rise in malaria-related illnesses and deaths since January 2025. While detailed statistics are still being compiled, the trend has raised alarms among public health officials and communities in high-risk regions.

The Ministry is expected to release a comprehensive report on the outbreak and outline enhanced prevention and response strategies to curb further transmission. Malaria remains a major public health challenge in Zimbabwe, particularly during the rainy season when mosquito populations thrive.

Accused Man In A 3rd Floor ED Jump

Convicted Rapist Jumps from Third Floor of Bulawayo Court After Sentencing

A 38-year-old man convicted of attempted rape shocked court officials and members of the public on Wednesday after he jumped from the third floor of the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court moments after being sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Monwabisi Mhilwane was convicted by Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Sibonginkosi Mnkandla for attempting to rape his 19-year-old cousin on multiple occasions at their family homestead in Lortondale Village, Inyathi, Matabeleland North Province.

Immediately after sentencing, Mhilwane broke away from Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) officers and threw himself out of a third-floor courtroom window. He landed on the first floor with visible injuries and was rushed to hospital under police guard.

The case was prosecuted by Mr Jethro Mada, who told the court that Mhilwane had persistently sexually harassed the teenager. On one occasion in February, he proposed love to her and demanded sexual intercourse. When she refused, she reported the matter to a cousin sister who initially intervened privately.

The court heard that on March 30 at around 8PM, Mhilwane forced entry into the complainant’s room, grabbed her breasts and attempted to undress her. The girl screamed, and her cousin intervened once again.

On April 30, while the complainant was relieving herself in the bush around 5AM, Mhilwane followed her and demanded sex. When she refused, he threw stones at her. The matter was reported to the police after he was later caught red-handed on top of the victim.

Magistrate Mnkandla noted that the complainant was a minor and that Mhilwane had betrayed his role as a family guardian. She said the evidence was overwhelming despite the accused’s denial and entered a conviction after full trial.

“The accused showed no remorse and abused a vulnerable girl who regarded him as a trusted relative,” said Mnkandla during sentencing.

Court officials said Mhilwane remains hospitalised and will begin serving his sentence upon recovery. Authorities are also investigating the security lapse that allowed him to break away from custody.

Councillors Blow US$1 Million on ED One Day Meeting

While hospitals across Zimbabwe are running out of basic medication like paracetamol — a tablet that costs as little as 5 US cents but remains out of reach for many — local councillors are preparing to splurge over US$1 million in ratepayers’ money on hotel stays, food allowances, and travel for a one-day meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The staggering figure, enough to buy 20 million paracetamol tablets or fully restock dozens of rural clinics, will be spent on 2,595 councillors from the country’s 92 local authorities as they gather in Masvingo for the second “indaba” with Mnangagwa in just seven months.

In a country where some mothers are turned away from hospitals because there are no gloves, and patients are told to buy even the most basic painkillers, the luxury accommodation and daily allowance of over US$209 per councillor has ignited fury across the nation.

BREAKING: Councillors to Blow Over US$1 Million in Ratepayers’ Money for Mnangagwa Meeting in Masvingo

Masvingo – 26 June 2025

An estimated US$1.088 million in ratepayers’ money is set to be spent tomorrow as 2,595 councillors from Zimbabwe’s 92 local authorities descend on Masvingo for a meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa — the second such indaba in just seven months.

Despite the dire financial state of many councils, with some battling salary backlogs stretching for months and others presiding over collapsed services including water, roads, and sewer systems, the Zimbabwe Local Government Association (ZILGA) has coordinated yet another costly gathering.

Last year’s councillors’ indaba, held in Harare, also attracted criticism for excessive spending amid deteriorating urban and rural infrastructure. Councillors at the time received US$209.80 per person per day in allowances, broken down as follows:
• US$90 for bed
• US$22.50 for breakfast
• US$30 for lunch
• US$37.30 for dinner
• US$30 supplementary allowance

If the same package is paid out this time, the total cost for all councillors would exceed US$1 million.

Ministry of Local Government and Public Works spokesperson Gabriel Masvora confirmed the indaba to The Masvingo Mirror, noting that the event is officially sanctioned. However, efforts to obtain comment from ZILGA chairperson Aaron Golden Shamu were unsuccessful.

This lavish expenditure has sparked outrage, particularly in municipalities like Harare where some suburbs have gone without running water for over a decade and refuse collection is erratic at best. Councillors are being accommodated in hotels and provided with transport and food allowances — a bitter pill to swallow for residents footing the bill amid deepening service delivery failures.

The opposition has accused the Mnangagwa administration of using such meetings to consolidate political loyalty among local representatives while disregarding the financial suffering of ordinary citizens.

Critics also say the repeated meetings lack any tangible outcomes, describing them as “talkshops” designed to mask the collapse of Zimbabwe’s urban governance framework under ZANU PF’s watch. – MasvingoMorror, additional reporting

Assault Over US$20 Grocery Change

16-Year-Old Chimanimani Bride Commits Suicide After Assault Over US$20 Grocery Change

CHIMANIMANI – A tragic case of domestic abuse has rocked the Rusitu Valley community after a 16-year-old married girl, Loveness Makorokoto, took her own life on Monday by ingesting poison, reportedly after being assaulted by her 30-year-old husband for failing to account for change from a US$20 grocery allowance.

Manicaland Police Acting Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident to Chipinge Times, stating that Makorokoto died upon admission at Rusitu Mission Hospital.

According to police, Makorokoto had been sent to purchase groceries by her husband, Simbarashe Marira, using a US$20 note. An argument allegedly ensued when she returned without full change. Marira reportedly assaulted her during the altercation.

Around 2 p.m., Makorokoto approached a neighbour, 34-year-old Rumbidzai Makuza, and confessed that she had consumed poison following the domestic assault. Makuza rushed her to Rusitu Mission Hospital, but medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Police have launched a full investigation into the matter. The case has raised urgent concerns over child marriage, gender-based violence, and the vulnerability of underage girls in rural communities.

No arrest had been confirmed at the time of publication.

Bombshell Hits ED Hard In Mashonaland West

By A Correspondent – The recent expulsion of war veteran and outspoken former Zanu PF official Blessed Geza has dealt a heavy blow to the ruling party’s support base in Mashonaland West, with internal restructuring exercises revealing growing discontent and dwindling grassroots participation.

However, since the 2017 coup that ousted Mugabe and installed Mnangagwa, internal fractures have widened, and support in the province has weakened, now made more apparent by the fallout from Geza’s ouster and the turmoil gripping the party’s grassroots.

Lawyers Expose Pardon Gambakwe in Legal Double-Play Plot Over Nyokayemabhunu Arrest

By Investigations Correspondent | Johannesburg, 25 June 2025 — A legal bombshell has erupted in the Masiwa Wellington (alias Nyokayemabhunu) case, as Malalhela & Co. Attorneys, the firm representing him, has released a series of damning statements exposing YouTuber and Uebert Angel associate Pardon Gambakwe for playing a deeply conflicted and potentially unlawful role in the ongoing saga.

In a series of formal legal letters dated between May and June 2025, the firm reveals that:

  1. Gambakwe Handpicked Lawyers for the Same Man He Publicly Framed

The attorneys confirm that Mr. Pardon Gambakwe personally approached and instructed them to take on the case of Wellington Masiwa—just days after he had, on 20 March 2025, publicly made statements falsely alleging Masiwa’s ties to military activities and misrepresented his finances. These public statements, made on Gambakwe’s platforms, contributed to a cascade of events culminating in Masiwa’s detention on 13 April.

The implication is severe: the same individual who triggered public suspicion and media framing of Masiwa was secretly directing his legal defense, thereby breaching ethical boundaries and contaminating the legal process.

  1. Gambakwe Is Providing “Security” to Lawyers—Raising Alarm Bells on His Civilian Status

Malalhela & Co.’s letter further admits that Gambakwe “has ensured that the lawyers are safe, attending court, and present.” Legal observers are questioning how a civilian, who claims to be a journalist and YouTuber, is providing security for lawyers in a high-profile case unless he is involved in some form of state-linked or intelligence function.

This revelation has sparked fears that Gambakwe may be operating as a double agent—publicly claiming to support justice and human rights while operating behind the scenes in state security or political interests aligned with Uebert Angel and the Zimbabwean regime.

Already Gambakwe has played multiple roles including a dodgy housing scheme that left many homeless
https://www.facebook.com/share/1AY4Xtwaxy/?mibextid=wwXIfr

  1. Over R20,000 Collected by Gambakwe Not Accounted For

The attorneys confirm they received R20,175 from Mr. Gambakwe, but note that they have no reconciliation or control over how much in total he collected from the public. All other funds Gambakwe may have solicited are not registered through the trust account and remain undocumented.

This lack of transparency has led to suspicions of possible fund misappropriation and fraud, as the law firm strictly reiterated: “Do not pay funds to any individual or unauthorized collector.”

  1. Funds Collected Outside the Legal Channel Remain Missing

The firm raised alarm over other individuals not mandated by them soliciting public funds under the pretense of helping Masiwa. Only two verified payments were received—one from Gambakwe and the other from an associate, Godwin Zivavose, who introduced Advocate Cheryl Sjöberg.

The rest of the funds, if collected, have not been declared, tracked, or deposited into the law firm’s official account.

  1. Gambakwe Linked to Ouster of Zimbabwean Lawyer Machingura

The final shocking development is that Zimbabwean lawyer Chrispen Machingura, who initially stepped forward to assist Masiwa, was later pushed out of the case. The law firm confirms Machingura is no longer part of the legal team and “is not authorized to act further.”

Legal sources suspect Gambakwe’s influence was instrumental in sidelining Machingura, a known independent actor, in favor of a more pliable legal framework tied to South African networks and intelligence-linked figures. This aligns with a broader effort to control the Masiwa case narrative and legal trajectory.

Case Now Under Cloud of Compromised Integrity

The public is now being warned to stop sending funds to any individual other than the law firm’s trust account. The revelations raise critical questions about infiltration, manipulation, and fund misappropriation in the name of activism and justice.

Masiwa Wellington, the man at the center of this controversy, remains under legal pressure—while the YouTuber who once framed him appears entangled in both his prosecution and defense.

Gambakwe was contacted for comment.

Earlier in May 2025, Gambakwe admitted that he potentially misrepresented the incarcerated activist, and during a phonecall with ZimEye that was broadcast, he admitted and saying he would look into rectifying over statements he uttered on 20 March that directly implicate Wellington Masiwa on many things including an urgent plea for political financing due to coffers that were dwindling.

But later on 29 May, Gambakwe issued a contrary statement this time saying, he refuses to address his statements. He said he did not at all plant words into Masiwa’s mouth. He added saying this is because according to him, Masiwa already R1million in his bank account. (Click to read and listen to him speaking –

Pardon Gambakwe says: I didn’t plant words into Nyoka’s mouth or do money laundering, because Nyoka already had R1 Million in his account on 20 March. https://www.zimeye.net/2025/05/29/pardon-gambakwe-says-i-didnt-plant-words-into-nyokas-mouth-or-do-money-laundering-because-nyoka-already-had-r1-million-in-his-account-on-20-march/. )

The development comes at a time many in the civil society accused him as a ChiGananda, a corrupt person, bent on chopping other people’s money and lives.

“…Activism against the government inenge iribusiness inokuwanisayi mari isu tichifunga kuti murikurwira ruzhinji with utmost good faith…,” said X user @ChazingwaThree.

A previous housing scheme Gambakwe ran in 2023, left many people homeless and demanding their refunds alleging they were scammed by him (watch video

Human rights monitors have called for a full inquiry into Gambakwe’s role, the alleged intelligence connections, and the integrity of the legal proceedings.

This is a developing story.

FC Platinum Maintain Unbeaten Run as PSL Season Reaches Midway Point

By Sports Correspondent

FC Platinum have emerged as the only team to preserve their unbeaten record in the first half of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, as the campaign now heads into its crucial second phase.

The Zvishavane-based giants have demonstrated consistency and resilience, navigating a competitive opening half where traditional powerhouses have faltered. In a season marked by surprise results and fluctuating form, FC Platinum have quietly established themselves as title contenders with an impressive run that includes a string of hard-fought draws and key victories.

In contrast, league debutants MWOS—who had gone toe-to-toe with the league’s best—saw their unbeaten streak come to a halt on the final matchday of the first round. That defeat also cost them top spot, which was swiftly reclaimed by defending champions Simba Bhora.

Simba Bhora ended the first half at the summit, edging MWOS by a single point and underlining their credentials to defend their title. Yet it’s FC Platinum’s unbeaten status that has caught the attention of fans and pundits alike, especially given the disappointing performances by some of the league’s traditional giants, who now find themselves in the bottom half of the table.

“FC Platinum’s consistency is a testament to their squad depth and discipline,” said one PSL analyst. “In a season where big clubs have failed to live up to expectations, they’ve quietly done the basics right.”

Football stakeholders believe the first half of the season has captured the true essence of the game—unpredictable, competitive, and full of drama.

As the second half of the campaign begins, all eyes will be on whether FC Platinum can maintain their momentum, and whether the faltering giants can rediscover form in time to mount a serious challenge.

ECL might be buried in August

LUNGU’S BODY WON’T BE BURIED UNTIL AUGUST

The Pretoria High Court has ruled that it will hear a motion in August 2025 regarding the repatriation of former President Edgar Lungu’s body to Zambia.

Zambia’s Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha had filed an application to halt the burial of Mr. Lungu, citing public interest and legal precedence.

The burial was stopped as mourners had begun gathering at the Cathedral of Christ the King in South Africa today Wednesday June 25,2025.

In an order reached by mutual agreement between the Lungu family and the State, Judge Ledwaba of the Pretoria High Court directed that the family should not proceed with the funeral and burial of the former President until the matter is resolved.

The court further ordered the State to file an amended notice of motion and supplementary founding affidavit seeking the repatriation of Mr. Lungu’s body on or before July 4, 2025.

The Lungu family has also been directed to file their heads of argument and list of authorities by July 24, 2025. The court will then hear the matter on August 4, 2025.

Additionally, the court has allowed the Lungu family, and other designated individuals, to visit and inspect the body of the late President.

Real Madrid’s Raul Asencio Apologizes After Difficult Club World Cup Start

Sports Correspondent

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has issued a heartfelt apology following a turbulent start to his FIFA Club World Cup campaign, which saw him concede a penalty in the opening match against Al-Hilal and pick up a red card in the 3-1 victory over Pachuca.

The 22-year-old, a product of Madrid’s academy, took to social media to address the criticism and own up to his early struggles.

“It’s not being the start of the competition I wanted but I have no doubt I’ll turn it around,” Asencio wrote. “I’ll work harder and learn from this.”

His red card means he will sit out Real Madrid’s upcoming clash against RB Salzburg, further complicating head coach Xabi Alonso’s defensive setup. With Dean Huijsen expected to start, questions remain over who will partner Antonio Rudiger, who is still regaining full fitness.

Despite the setback, Asencio has received support from within the squad. Midfielder Federico Valverde came to his defense, praising the young defender’s previous performances and resilience.

While Eder Militao’s return and Huijsen’s recent form may limit Asencio’s minutes moving forward, the young centre-back is determined to fight for a place in the knockout stages.

His path to redemption may be steep, but Asencio appears committed to proving his worth under Alonso in what remains of the competition.

What Is Heartwater ?

By Dr Trywell Muzerengi

Heartwater, also known as Cowdriosis, is a deadly tick-borne disease caused by the bacteria-like organism Ehrlichia ruminatum. It poses a serious threat to livestock farming, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. The disease is primarily spread by Amblyomma ticks, making tick control essential in managing outbreaks.

  1. Cause (Etiology)

Heartwater is caused by Ehrlichia ruminatum, a microbe transmitted through the bites of infected Amblyomma ticks.

  1. Economic Importance

Heartwater leads to:

Sudden death of valuable livestock

Reduced productivity (milk and meat)

High treatment and prevention costs

Loss of young, future breeding stock

  1. Transmission

Infection occurs when ticks bite and transfer the organism from infected to healthy animals.

Not contagious between animals—only tick-borne.

  1. Animals Affected

Cattle

Goats

Sheep

Occasionally wild ruminants

  1. Clinical Signs

Per-Acute Form (Very Rapid Onset):

Sudden death

Convulsions

Diarrhea

Sub-Acute Form (Gradual Onset):

High, persistent fever

Coughing and respiratory distress

May recover or die within 1–2 weeks

Subclinical Form (Mild or No Symptoms):

Usually occurs in resistant breeds

Mild fever or completely asymptomatic

  1. Postmortem Findings

Fluid accumulation around heart (hydropericardium), lungs (hydrothorax), and abdomen (ascites)

Small internal bleeding in the intestines (petechiae)

Swollen, congested brain tissue

  1. Differential Diagnosis (Diseases with similar symptoms)

Rabies

Tetanus

Poisoning

Meningitis

Babesiosis

East Coast Fever (ECF)

  1. Prevention and Control

Regular tick control: Spraying and dipping are essential.

Quarantine and monitor new or sick animals.

Use tick-free grazing areas where possible.

Early treatment with oxytetracycline can save animals—once nervous symptoms appear, chances of recovery are slim.

⚠️ Final Note:

Heartwater can devastate herds if not detected and treated early. Veterinary involvement is critical to reduce losses. Farmers should maintain strict tick control programs and seek expert help at the first signs of illness.

Don’t Be Offended By My Name, Pastor Mb*ro Tells Zimbabweans

By A Correspondent

Controversial South African preacher, Pastor Mb*ro, has addressed Zimbabweans directly, urging them not to be offended or amused by his name, which has stirred laughter and discomfort due to its meaning in Shona.

Pastor Mb*ro, whose full name is Paseka Franz Motsoeneng, is the founder and leader of Incredible Happenings Ministries. Known for his flamboyant sermons and dramatic healing services, he took time over the weekend to clarify the origin and meaning of his name in his home country.

“I know that in Zimbabwe Mbro means something else, but I am not that male organ,” he said candidly. “Actually, here in South Africa, Mbro means someone chosen to lead the church, a prophet or leader. So please, I am not that male organ.”

The preacher, who has drawn media attention across Southern Africa for his unconventional style, said he respects cultural and linguistic differences but hopes Zimbabweans can look past the name and focus on the message he brings.

His statement comes ahead of anticipated regional outreach plans, where he hopes to extend his ministry into neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe.

Lungu Family Ordered To Halt Burial

📍BREAKING NEWS | GAUTENG HIGH COURT HALTS LUNGU BURIAL
Pretoria Court Blocks Funeral as Legal Battle Over Zambia’s Former President Erupts

Pretoria, South Africa – 25 June 2025

By Court Correspondent | ZimEye | The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has issued an urgent order stopping the burial of Zambia’s late former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, pending the outcome of a full legal hearing scheduled for 4 August 2025.

The ruling follows a heated court application brought by parties close to the Lungu family, who accuse authorities of attempting to carry out a politically driven burial process without the family’s full consent. The applicants argued that the former president deserves a dignified and unified funeral, in line with both African tradition and his status as a former head of state.

In a surprising development during the hearing, legal representatives for the first to seventh respondents formally undertook not to proceed with the funeral or burial, saying they had received instructions to allow the legal process to unfold.

🔹 Court Acknowledges Public Interest

The court acknowledged the deep grief and national emotion surrounding the matter and noted that the public has a legitimate interest in how the proceedings unfold. The legal teams on both sides were praised for engaging constructively and agreeing on a structured way forward.

A statement submitted in support of the application emphasized the importance of cultural dignity:

“As Africans, we believe the deceased should be laid to rest respectfully and in a manner that unites the family and nation — not divides it.”

🔹 Terms of the Court Order

The court issued the following directions:
1. The respondents may not proceed with the funeral or burial of the late President until the finalisation of the main application.
2. Any party wishing to intervene in the matter must file papers by 18 July 2025.
3. The applicant must file an amended notice of motion and supporting affidavit by 4 July 2025.
4. The respondents are to file opposing affidavits by 11 July 2025.
5. Both sides are to file their heads of argument, chronologies, and lists of authorities by 18 and 24 July, respectively.
6. A joint practice note and chronology must be submitted by 25 July 2025.
7. The matter will be heard in full as a special motion on 4 August 2025.
8. Electronic service of all documents is permitted.
9. The costs of the urgent application are reserved and will be determined during the main hearing.
10. Only the first to seventh respondents are allowed to visit or inspect the body, or permit others to do so.

🔹 What This Means

President Lungu died on 5 June 2025, but his remains are now effectively under legal protection, as the court steps in to resolve growing tensions over who has the right to determine his final resting place.

The case has sparked widespread discussion across Zambia and the diaspora, with supporters of the former president insisting on full respect for his legacy and the family’s wishes.

The legal outcome in South Africa could also influence how similar cross-border burial disputes involving political figures are handled in the future.

This is a developing story. More updates to follow as the matter progresses toward the 4 August hearing.

Zanu PF Is Bigger Than Government, Tagwirei Showcases Political Power, Days After Central Committee Appointment

By A Correspondent

Controversial businessman and political powerbroker Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwirei has made waves in ZANU PF circles after quietly entering the party’s influential Central Committee this month — a move many see as a calculated step toward even greater political ambition.

Widely regarded as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “blue-eyed boy,” Tagwirei’s sudden and low-profile inclusion in the Central Committee has raised eyebrows, with party insiders suggesting it signals his growing influence in both party and state affairs.

Speaking to reporters in Harare after attending a closed-door provincial meeting with government departments on Tuesday, Tagwirei made remarks that hint at a shifting power dynamic.

“The party (ZANU PF) is bigger than the government,” he said pointedly, underscoring a sentiment often used by top party elites to remind civil servants and ministers where true authority lies.

His statement has reignited speculation about Tagwirei’s political ambitions, especially following his gradual transition from the business world and pulpit into full-fledged politics. Long known for his deep pockets and behind-the-scenes influence in both state contracts and party funding, Tagwirei is increasingly stepping into the limelight.

Though he has not formally declared any presidential ambitions, insiders suggest his rapid rise through party structures—coupled with his alignment with Mnangagwa—could be part of a broader succession strategy within the ruling party.

Whether he is positioning himself as a future presidential contender or simply consolidating his influence within ZANU PF, one thing is clear: Tagwirei is no longer just the man behind the scenes—he’s now part of the machinery steering Zimbabwe’s political direction.

Court Orders Suspension of Edgar Lungu Funeral Proceedings Pending Final Legal Resolution

By A Correspondent

Plans to bury the late former Zambian President Edgar Lungu in South Africa have been halted after a court challenge was lodged demanding the repatriation of his body to Zambia. The urgent matter, heard on 25 June 2025 resulted in a temporary court order suspending any funeral or burial proceedings pending final determination of the main application.

Latest on the burial of Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s burial…

[Court Proceedings – Transcript by ZimEye] In the matter concerning the burial dispute of the late President of Zambia

Date: 25 June 2025

Counsel for Applicant: May it please you, My Lady. I appear for the applicant, together with Mylona Junior and Mr. Marcus.

Presiding Judge: Good morning, Mr. Stewart.

Counsel for Respondents: Good morning, My Lady. I appear for the first to seventh respondents. I’ve had a discussion with my clients to obtain final instructions. The instructions I received should take care of the matter before the court today.

Obviously, I just need to consult briefly with my senior friend to see if we can agree on a draft order — but we will proceed on that basis.

My instructions are to give certain undertakings to the applicant, which should address the issues at hand for today’s proceedings.

The family of the deceased — the late President — does not wish for a piecemeal funeral process. It is not what he deserves, particularly given his status and legacy.

That said, we are prepared to provide undertakings to the applicant that would resolve the immediate application. We simply need to confer on suitable timeframes for the main application, which the applicant will need to serve.

Accordingly, we ask to stand the matter down briefly while we finalise discussions.

Judge: Thank you, counsel.

State Counsel (Supporting the Applicant): I would like to place on record that the State fully acknowledges the grief and pain endured by the family and relatives — as well as the Zambian nation — resulting from the current dispute.

President Edgar Lungu of Zambia passed away on the 5th of June, 2025. As Africans, culturally, we believe that the deceased should be laid to rest in a respectful and dignified manner.

I would also like to thank the Indigo representatives for engaging meaningfully on this serious matter, and for reaching agreement on how the legal process should unfold if the parties are unable to settle.

Given that the public has a keen interest in this case, I will now read the order being made by agreement between the parties.

[Order of the Court]

By agreement between the parties, the following order is issued: 1. The first to seventh respondents undertake not to proceed with the funeral and/or burial of the late President pending finalisation of the application in Prayer 5, infra. 2. Any party wishing to intervene in this application must file a notice of motion and founding affidavit (or any other affidavit) on or before 18 July 2025. 3. Any party wishing to be joined in the application as amicus curiae must also file their notice of motion and founding affidavit on or before 18 July 2025. 4. The notice to oppose is to be filed by the respondents, or any other interested party, on or before 30 June 2025. 5. The applicant is ordered to file its amended notice of motion and supplementary affidavit seeking the repatriation of the body of the late President of Zambia on or before 4 July 2025. 6. The respondents are ordered to file their opposing affidavits on or before 11 July 2025. 7. The applicant is to file its replying affidavit, heads of argument, chronology, and list of authorities on or before 18 July 2025. 8. The respondents are to file their heads of argument, chronology, and list of authorities on or before 24 July 2025. 9. All participants are to file a joint practice note and joint chronology on or before 25 July 2025. 10. The matter will be heard as a special motion on 4 August 2025. 11. All parties agree to electronic service on their appointed attorneys of record. 12. The costs of the urgent application are reserved, to be determined upon hearing of the main application. 13. Only the first to seventh respondents are permitted to visit and/or inspect, or to allow any other individual to visit and/or inspect the body of the late President.

That is the order of this court.

Counsel: My pleasure, Your Honour.

Chiredzi District Hospital Fails To Buy Diesel For Ambulance To Transfer Patient To Masvingo

By A Correspondent

A tragic domestic incident in Chiredzi has exposed the dire state of Zimbabwe’s public healthcare system, after Chiredzi District Hospital failed to raise enough diesel to transfer a critically injured patient to Masvingo General Hospital.

The patient, identified as Jerry, is reportedly fighting for his life after being scalded with hot cooking oil by his wife during a domestic dispute. He is currently admitted at Chiredzi District Hospital, but medical staff have recommended an urgent transfer to Masvingo General for specialized care.

However, the transfer has stalled due to a lack of fuel. The hospital’s ambulance reportedly has no diesel, and the patient’s family is struggling to raise the US$80 required to facilitate the transfer.

A family member who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed deep frustration and despair.
“We are watching him deteriorate by the hour. All because there is no fuel and we can’t find the money quickly enough. It’s heartbreaking,” the relative said.

Hospital staff confirmed the fuel crisis but declined to comment further, citing protocol. Local health activists have since called on authorities to urgently intervene and ensure the patient receives the care he desperately needs.

The incident has sparked fresh concerns about the state of healthcare infrastructure in rural areas, where hospitals continue to face shortages of basic resources, including fuel, medication, and critical staff.

As Jerry’s condition hangs in the balance, many are questioning how a major public hospital can be rendered helpless by something as basic as a tank of diesel.

You Get Instructions From Us, Tagwirei Tells Senior Government Officials

By A Correspondent

Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwirei, the enigmatic businessman long associated with Zimbabwe’s corridors of power, is now openly asserting authority within both the ruling ZANU PF party and the government.

Recently smuggled into the ZANU PF Central Committee, Tagwirei’s rise has not only unsettled party veterans but also sparked fresh debate over the real centres of power in the country.

Often described as President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “blue-eyed boy,” Tagwirei wasted no time in stamping his presence.

Speaking to reporters in Harare after a closed-door provincial meeting involving senior government officials on Tuesday, Tagwirei declared:

“The party (ZANU PF) is bigger than the government,” — a bold reminder to civil servants and ministers alike about where orders originate.

The statement signaled a possible shift in power dynamics, with Tagwirei now moving from operating behind the scenes into a more direct political role. His transition from wealthy tycoon and pulpit preacher to political figure has reignited speculation that he may be eyeing even higher office in the near future.

While he has made no public claims to the presidency, his alignment with Mnangagwa, vast financial resources, and newfound official role within ZANU PF suggest a carefully charted path toward deeper influence in national politics.

Whether Tagwirei becomes a successor, a kingmaker, or simply a strategic insider, one thing is certain: his voice now carries weight not just in business circles, but in the highest echelons of Zimbabwe’s political establishment.

Govt Snubs ZiG ? – Insurance Capital Requirements Now Pegged in US Dollars

By A Correspondent

Move raises questions over confidence in local currency as authorities aim to shore up insurance sector stability…

HARARE – In a clear signal of dwindling confidence in Zimbabwe’s local currency, the government has officially pegged minimum capital requirements for insurance firms in United States Dollars, abandoning the recently introduced ZiG as a standard for regulatory thresholds.

The new capital benchmarks, gazetted this week, are aimed at bolstering the resilience and credibility of Zimbabwe’s insurance industry. The shift away from local currency comes amid persistent inflationary pressures and volatility that have eroded the real value of insurance firms’ capital reserves.

Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) Commissioner Dr Grace Muradzikwa said the USD-indexed requirements are necessary to maintain the sector’s ability to fulfill its core obligation: paying claims.

“As IPEC, our mandate is to protect the interests of policyholders and pension scheme members. The United States Dollar indexed capital thresholds are a step in that direction,” she said. “The new minimum capital requirements for life companies are pegged at US$2 million, Funeral Assurers at US$500,000, Short-Term Insurers at US$1.5 million, Reinsurers at US$2 million, Micro-Insurers at US$100,000, and Insurance Brokers at US$100,000.”

Muradzikwa was candid about the rationale behind the move, pointing to the erosion of value under the local currency regime.

“Previously, capital requirements were set in local currency. However, due to inflationary pressures and currency volatility, the real value of those requirements was significantly eroded. This undermined the very objective of capital adequacy,” she said. “We are now taking corrective measures to ensure firms maintain a financial buffer that enables them to absorb shocks and meet obligations to clients.”

While regulators insist the decision is grounded in sound financial principles, the move is also being read as a tacit vote of no confidence in the ZiG currency launched earlier this year to replace the beleaguered Zimbabwe dollar.

Analysts note that the shift could set a precedent for other sectors to follow suit, further sidelining the local unit in favor of more stable foreign currencies.

Exiled Geza Still Hounding Zanu PF as Party Grapples with Waning Support in Mashonaland West

By A Correspondent| Although exiled and officially cast out from the ruling Zanu PF ranks, former party stalwart Blessed Geza continues to cast a long shadow over the party’s troubled internal processes, with recent developments in Mashonaland West exposing cracks in what was once considered a loyal fortress of the ruling elite.

Zanu PF’s ongoing cell verification exercise — a precursor to electing new central committee members — has been marred by poor turnout, infighting, and organizational malaise across districts such as Makonde, Hurungwe, and Sanyati. Nowhere is the political turbulence more symbolic than in Sanyati, where the party is scrambling to replace Geza, who was expelled after publicly calling for the removal of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Despite his exile, Geza’s influence lingers. His dramatic exit and vocal criticism of the leadership have reportedly left deep divisions in the party base, which remain unresolved. “There’s a void in Sanyati,” admitted one provincial insider. “Geza didn’t leave quietly — he left with a message that continues to resonate with some structures.”

Factional Jockeying Intensifies

As the party seeks to fill the vacuum left by Geza’s departure, competition among hopefuls is intensifying. Notable names vying for the central committee seat in Sanyati include Mines Deputy Minister Polite Kambamura, controversial businessman Jimaya Muduvuri, and youth figure Kudakwashe Nduya. But insiders claim the race has turned into a proxy battle over loyalty to Mnangagwa — a political minefield that Geza helped trigger before his expulsion.

In Hurungwe, the contest to replace jailed former deputy Finance Minister Terrence Mukupe has Reuben Marumahoko and Ability Gandawa locked in a tense standoff. Meanwhile, Makonde district sees its own power struggles, with Phineas Makumbe, Tommy Mwanza, Simba Ziyambi, and Locadia Gwati contending to replace Kindness Paradza, now serving at the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.

A Party in Decline?

Beyond the power wrangles, Zanu PF is facing a more ominous threat — apathy. According to a confidential letter from Mashonaland West provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, poor attendance and internal disunity have crippled the verification exercise.

“Elsewhere, we noted low attendance, which indicates either poor communication or poor planning… Some absences were due to unresolved issues with sitting MPs,” Mliswa-Chikoka lamented in her letter, obtained by NewsDay.

Some areas, like Bumi Hills, reportedly saw zero attendance, while Cheuchi in Mhangura drew a mere eight participants. In stark contrast, Ward 4 in Chinhoyi recorded the highest turnout at 550 — still modest by the ruling party’s historical standards.

Mliswa-Chikoka also singled out Chegutu district for fostering rebellion and “inciting disunity,” warning that such behaviour would not be tolerated.

Legacy of Disruption

Political observers argue that the instability in Mashonaland West — once a Zanu PF heartland during the late Robert Mugabe’s rule — is emblematic of deeper dissatisfaction within the party. While Geza may be physically absent, his impact is visible in the cracks now forming in the party’s foundations.

“Geza’s defiance emboldened others, and now you see the ripple effects,” said political analyst Dr. Mandla Dube. “His expulsion didn’t silence dissent — it may have only driven it underground.”

Cracks Widen in Zanu PF Stronghold as Grassroots Turn Their Backs

Mashonaland West, long regarded as a bastion of Zanu PF dominance, is showing growing signs of political fatigue with the ruling party, as poor turnout in key internal party processes reveals a significant drop in support.

What was once a guaranteed support base for Zanu PF under the late former President Robert Mugabe now appears to be slipping away from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s grip. The party’s cell verification exercise — a crucial step in selecting central committee members — has been met with widespread apathy, internal disunity, and even silent protest.

In some districts, the message from grassroots members is clear: they are losing faith.

In Sanyati, the party is scrambling to replace expelled member Blessed Geza, whose call for Mnangagwa’s ouster resonated with a growing faction disillusioned with the current leadership.

Even with high-profile figures like Mines deputy minister Polite Kambamura and businessman Jimaya Muduvuri vying for the spot, enthusiasm remains low.

Hurungwe is no better, as a tense face-off between Reuben Marumahoko and Ability Gandawa to replace jailed ex-deputy minister Terrence Mukupe exposes further cracks. In Makonde, four contenders are locked in a power struggle to fill the void left by Kindness Paradza, now with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.

But it’s the near-empty venues and paltry numbers that tell the real story.

In Bumi Hills, not a single attendee showed up. Cheuchi in Mhangura attracted just eight people. Only Ward 4 in Chinhoyi, an urban area increasingly restless under economic strain, reported a significant turnout of 550 — a rare exception in a province once solidly red.

A letter from provincial chairperson Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, lamented “low attendance, poor planning, and unresolved issues with MPs” as obstacles to the process — a thinly veiled acknowledgment of waning confidence in the party.

More striking, however, is her frustration with party leaders themselves. In Chegutu, she accused local officials of stoking disunity and sabotaging the process. “Let this be a clear warning… this behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at all,” she warned, revealing the level of infighting and rebellion festering within the party’s ranks.

As Zanu PF stumbles through internal restructuring, the low engagement signals more than just logistical hiccups — it points to a political tide slowly turning in a province where loyalty once came without question.

For the opposition and civil society, the message from Mashonaland West is encouraging: the political monopoly that has long stifled change is beginning to erode from within.

Tragedy Strikes Gombamwa Village as Fisherman Drowns in Masembura Dam

By A Correspondent | The Gombamwa community in Bindura, under the jurisdiction of Chief Masembura, is mourning the untimely death of a local fishmonger who drowned while fishing at Masembura Dam.

Tonderai Chingoma tragically slipped from his swimming tube while casting fishing nets and drowned in the dam’s waters.

Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe, confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm a case of sudden death in Bindura where Chingoma drowned while casting his fishing nets yesterday,” said Inspector Mundembe.

According to reports, the body was discovered floating in the dam by a fellow villager, Paradzai Nyika, who promptly alerted the authorities.

The body was later retrieved and transported to Bindura Hospital for further procedures.

In light of the incident, police have urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging in recreational or fishing activities near water bodies without proper safety measures.

Kirsty Coventry Officially Takes Over IOC Power

By Sports Reporter — Zimbabwean swimming icon and former Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry was on Monday officially sworn in as the 9th President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), making history as the first woman and the first African to lead the global sports body.

The colourful handover ceremony took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, marking the official end of Thomas Bach’s term and the beginning of Coventry’s eight-year leadership.

Coventry was elected during the IOC’s 144th Session in March in Olympia, Greece — a historic moment not just for Zimbabwe but for Africa and the global sporting fraternity.

A two-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time Olympic medalist, Coventry is widely regarded as Zimbabwe’s greatest-ever athlete.

Her glittering career was nurtured and celebrated during the leadership of the late President Robert Mugabe, who personally supported her development and consistently honoured her achievements.

It was under Mugabe’s government that Coventry received full state sponsorship, and was awarded national honours.

Many political analysts and sports commentators have noted that Coventry’s international ascent owes a significant debt to the groundwork laid by Mugabe’s administration, which, despite its controversial legacy in other areas, recognised and invested in sporting excellence.

Mugabe not only ensured that Coventry received state recognition but also opened doors for her international exposure and leadership.

However, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime has been quick to capitalise on her success, with state media under his administration now portraying her rise as a product of the so-called Second Republic, an attempt critics say is an effort to rebrand his increasingly unpopular leadership by associating it with global excellence.

Yet Coventry’s legacy is firmly rooted in the era of Mugabe, who championed her talent long before Mnangagwa came to power.

During her acceptance speech in Lausanne, Coventry paid tribute to her Zimbabwean roots and pledged to champion inclusivity, youth development, and transparency in global sports governance.

As the IOC’s ninth president, she now takes the reins at a pivotal time, with preparations underway for the next Olympic Games in Paris.

Coventry’s rise marks a proud moment for Zimbabwe, Africa, and women in sport — and a poignant reminder that genuine investment in talent, as exemplified by Mugabe’s early recognition of her potential, can yield global leadership.

Tagwirei Launches Anti-Chiwenga Compaign

By A Correspondent — Controversial businessman and Mnangagwa’s long-time ally, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, has launched another Zanu PF parallel structure that aims to revive the fading ED2030 re-election campaign.

Tagwirei, recently elected into ZANU PF’s Central Committee, will be the Guest of Honour at a high-profile event organised by Young Women 4 Economic Development held at NUST Ceremonial Hall today.

Branded as part of the Leadership Success Series under the theme “The Land Tenure: Unlocking the Potential of Young People,” the gathering will see the launch of the Vendors 4 ED Presidential Empowerment Fund, a strategic populist move aimed at consolidating Mnangagwa’s grassroots support.

But critics say the event is less about youth empowerment and more about power consolidation by Mnangagwa’s loyalists, infamously referred to as the Zvigananda faction a term now synonymous with sycophants and corrupt praise-singers enabling Mnangagwa’s third-term ambitions.

Joining Tagwirei on the poster and backing the ED2030 project are other prominent Zvigananda figures:

  • Paul Tungwarara – Presidential Investment Advisor (Guest Speaker)
  • Owen Ncube – Minister of State, Bulawayo (Speaker)
  • Munyaradzi Machacha  – ZANU PF National Political Commissar (Speaker)
  • Tinotenda Machakaire – Youth Minister (Speaker)
  • Jabulani Sibanda – ZANU PF Provincial Chair (Speaker)
  • Tatenda Mavetera – Minister of ICT (Speaker)
  • Nyasha Mhonda – National Women Students YW4ED Coordinator
  • Sandra Ndebele – Bulawayo Chairperson YW4ED, Event Host

Analysts say this group carefully chosen for their undivided loyalty to Mnangagwa, forms the nucleus of a political machinery preparing the ground for an ED2030 campaign, a project aimed at extending Mnangagwa’s presidency beyond the constitutional limit of two terms.

Notably absent from both the program and the platform are veterans, military figures, and other long-serving ZANU PF cadres who have grown increasingly uneasy with Tagwirei’s rising political role and the growing cult of personality around Mnangagwa.

The Zvigananda takeover has deepened the party’s succession crisis, particularly irking Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who many believed was next in line after his pivotal role in the 2017 coup that brought Mnangagwa to power.

While Chiwenga remains publicly silent, insiders say he is watching Tagwirei’s manoeuvres with growing unease.

Tagwirei’s recent appointment to the Central Committee, confirmed by party legal affairs secretary Patrick Chinamasa, was facilitated through back channels. Though nominated by Masvingo province, it was Harare Province — closely aligned with Mnangagwa — that cleared a slot for him, signalling how the President’s inner circle is shaping the party’s future trajectory.

Political analysts argue that the resurrection of the ED2030 slogan, once abandoned after public backlash, reflects a deliberate effort to entrench Mnangagwa’s hold on power — and effectively block Chiwenga’s presidential ambitions in 2028.

Meanwhile, the Vendors 4 EDHairdressers 4 EDPastors 4 ED, and even Children of War Veterans 4 ED , all paraded at the NUST event, are increasingly seen not as empowerment vehicles but as political instruments in a broader re-election strategy disguised as youth and women mobilisation.

Headlands Honda Fit Horror Crash Victims Named

By Crime and Courts Reporter-The Police have released names of the victims of the Honda Fit a accident that occurred in Headlands early this week.

On Monday, 23 June, Nyathi said the people died when a Honda Fit they were travelling in collided head-on with a heavy truck near Yorkshire in Headlands around 7:30 PM on Sunday.

The driver of the Honda Fit vehicle was driving towards Mutare with five passengers on board and on approaching a blind curve at the 142 kilometre peg, he attempted to overtake a tractor while there was an oncoming Sino Howo truck, resulting in a head-on collision.

As a result of the crash, all six occupants of the Honda Fit vehicle died on the spot. The bodies were taken to Rusape General Hospital for post-mortem.

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, that the victims were identified by their next of kin as listed:

  • Portia Choto (29) a female adult of Chikanga 1, Mutare.
  • Kupakwashe Tandi a male infant aged 3 months of Chikanga 1, Mutare.
  • Rudo Elizabeth Chafa (36) a female adult of Budiriro 5, Harare.
  • Prince Tashinga Makota (28) a male adult of Mutare Rural Camp, Mutare.
  • Wadzani Nyoni (37) a female adult of Budiriro 1, Harare.

Commissioner Nyathi said that the sixth victim’s name is still being confirmed and updates will be provided once the family has been notified. He added:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police expresses condolences to the families of the victims and urges the public to observe road safety regulations.

ED Struggles To Pronounce Mushore’s Liberation War Credentials

By A Correspondent — President Emmerson Mnangagwa has come under fire for failing to provide a convincing account of the late Luke Mushore’s liberation war credentials, casting doubt over his elevation to national hero status.

Mushore, 76 — a former Zanu PF chairman for Mashonaland Central Province and ex-MP for Muzarabani South — died on June 13 and was buried at the National Heroes Acre on Monday. His cause of death remains undisclosed, further fuelling speculation.

In stark contrast to tradition, where government profiles of heroes include aliases, military training, operational roles, and command responsibilities, very little was revealed about Mushore’s role in the armed struggle. His promotion to hero status was delayed, and when it came, was accompanied by vague language and a glaring lack of detail.

Mnangagwa, in a brief eulogy delivered in Shona and English, described Mushore as a “reliable cadre” who contributed to the liberation struggle and land reform, saying:

“The late national hero vaiva bango rakasimba rataivimba naro mumusangano weZanu PF, vaisava zinyekenyeke.”

But beyond these generalities, the president offered no substantive evidence of Mushore’s war record. The only official note was that he “joined the liberation struggle in 1972” and was “revered for his steadfast commitment.”

Post-independence, Mushore reportedly established a productive farm in Centenary and supported land reform — acts viewed by critics as signs of party loyalty rather than liberation credentials.

Analysts say the omission of specific war records marks a significant departure from past hero declarations, raising uncomfortable questions about whether Mushore’s elevation was based more on political connections than merit.

The secrecy surrounding both his cause of death and his war record has left many Zimbabweans asking: was Mushore a hero, or just a loyal party man?

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Chipo Mushore (née Musiwapinda), 21 children, and 61 grandchildren.

Agent Sawu To Lead Bosso After Kelvin Kaindu Dismissal

Sports Correspondent

Highlanders Football Club have turned to soccer legend Agent Sawu to steer the team forward following the dismissal of head coach Kelvin Kaindu.

Kaindu’s departure comes amid growing pressure from supporters and club leadership after a turbulent first half of the season. Though expectations were high for the Zambian gaffer’s second stint with Bosso, the team’s inconsistent performances proved costly.

While the club did show moments of promise under Kaindu, including a few spirited displays against top-flight opponents, Highlanders failed to establish a winning rhythm. The final straw may have been their goalless draw against local rivals Chicken Inn, which extended the team’s winless streak and further frustrated fans.

Highlanders announced that former Warriors striker Sawu, alongside assistant coach Try Ncube, will take charge of the team in the interim. The duo is expected to stabilize the squad and inject fresh energy as the league heads into its second half.

Sawu, who previously held developmental coaching roles, now faces the challenge of lifting Highlanders from mid-table and reigniting their championship ambitions. His deep connection to the club and understanding of its culture could prove vital in restoring confidence in the dressing room.

As Highlanders embark on this new chapter, supporters will be hoping that the leadership of Sawu and Ncube can spark a much-needed turnaround in form.

Honda Fit Killer Walks Off With 2 Weeks Community Service

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Chinhoyi Man Sentenced for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash 🚨

Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe – June 25, 2025

A 20-year-old man from Chinhoyi has been sentenced to 24 months in prison following a devastating road traffic accident that occurred on November 17, 2024, resulting in the death of one pedestrian and injuries to four others.

According to the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court, the offender was driving a Honda Fit northbound on the Chegutu-Chinhoyi Road near the Central Business District at approximately 4:00 AM, when he struck five pedestrians walking toward town. One of the victims tragically died from severe head injuries shortly after being admitted to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital. The other four victims sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Shockingly, the offender fled the scene after the incident. Investigations revealed that he was driving without a valid driver’s licence, and the vehicle was deemed unroadworthy.

The court found the offender negligent on the following grounds:

Failing to keep a proper lookout.

Failing to keep the vehicle under proper control.

Wantonly driving an unroadworthy vehicle.

In a ruling that has sparked public debate, six months of the sentence were suspended for three years, and the remaining 18 months were conditionally suspended pending 360 hours of community service.

The case has raised serious concerns over road safety and law enforcement, especially regarding unlicensed and reckless drivers on Zimbabwean roads.

ZRP Drops Victim Into Rapist Suspect’s Hands

Imagine this: You gather the courage to report your rapist. You put your trust in the police — in the law — believing you’ll be safe now. You’re placed in custody for your protection. But in the dead of night, the very officer sworn to protect you unlocks the cell… and hands you back to the man you were running from.

That was the fate of Benitta Tshuma, a young woman whose desperate cry for justice ended not in safety, but in a body bag — dumped across the border in Botswana. Her alleged killer? The same man she had accused of rape. And the man who delivered her into his hands? A serving Zimbabwean police officer, now at the centre of what is being called the “Judas Cop Scandal.”

This isn’t just a story of betrayal. It’s a brutal reminder of how justice can be weaponised, and how women — even after speaking out — are still not safe.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: ‘Judas Cop’ Handed Victim to Her Killer — Shocking Plumtree Rape-Murder Scandal Rocks Zimbabwe

PLUMTREE, Zimbabwe — June 25, 2025

A Matjinge-based police officer accused of betraying his oath by handing a rape victim over to her alleged attacker — who later murdered her — is set to appear in court tomorrow in a case that has sent shockwaves across Zimbabwe.

Thembani Mukanyani (39), a serving member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, is being labelled a “Judas in uniform” after it emerged he allegedly released Benitta Tshuma, a rape complainant under protective custody, into the hands of her accused rapist, Cabangani “Mike” Mathe (35).

Tshuma had bravely reported Mathe for rape and was placed in what should have been the safety of police protection. But in a stunning betrayal, Mukanyani is alleged to have secretly handed her over to Mathe in the dead of night. Authorities believe Mathe then smuggled her across the border into Botswana, where she was brutally beaten to death.

Her decomposed body was later discovered, and a witness has come forward stating Tshuma was last seen in Mukanyani’s company. This led to the arrest of both men, now facing charges of rape, murder, and abuse of office.

In a dramatic court appearance on 11 June, emotions ran high at the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court, with Magistrate Ailene Munamati remanding the duo in custody until 25 June. The packed courtroom, dominated by women, erupted in tears and outrage, with many demanding justice not only for Benitta but for other alleged victims.

Disturbingly, several women present claimed they too had suffered abuse at the hands of the accused. This has prompted a national call for survivors to come forward.

“If you’ve been assaulted by Mike, please don’t hesitate to testify. We have him in custody and your safety is guaranteed,” read a statement issued by police today.

The case has exposed deep cracks in the justice system, sparking outrage across social media and in human rights circles. State Prosecutor Ruth Ncube is leading the charge against the accused.

Although Benitta Tshuma’s immediate family did not attend the hearing, a relative confirmed they are “closely watching the developments and expect full justice to be served.”

Meanwhile, tensions remain high in Plumtree, with whispers of a possible network of victims and systemic cover-ups.

The case, now widely referred to as the “Judas Cop Scandal,” has ignited national fury and calls for police reforms, particularly concerning how sexual violence cases are handled within law enforcement.

Zimbabwe’s Business Leaders Reflect Empty Bravado As Economic Turmoil Deepens

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with runaway inflation, a weakening local currency, and chronic energy shortages, the country’s business elite will gather this Wednesday in the resort city of Victoria Falls for the 2025 Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Annual Congress.

Despite the bold rhetoric of economic revival, many critics argue that the gathering may amount to little more than empty bravado amid a worsening economic crisis.

The three-day event, themed around economic recovery, policy alignment, and sustainable industrial growth, brings together executives, economists, policymakers, and development partners to explore pathways for transformation. Yet, for many observers, the dissonance between the lofty objectives of the congress and the grim realities on the ground raises critical questions about the private sector’s role and influence.

ZNCC Chief Executive Officer, Chris Mugaga, struck an optimistic tone ahead of the congress: “Zimbabwe has what it takes in terms of creating sustainable policies for the growth and survival of business. So, this conference is being held at the right time where we want the entire private sector to attend and show commitment to the government’s cause or thrust for development.”

But for others, Mugaga’s sentiments ring hollow. While business leaders routinely echo the government’s language of development and reform, real economic indicators tell a different story. The Zimbabwean dollar has plunged on both the official and parallel markets, civil servants are demanding salaries in U.S. dollars, and investor confidence remains fragile. For many, the annual congress has become a stage for rhetorical posturing rather than a platform for genuine transformation.

“The private sector keeps aligning with government narratives, yet fails to challenge the policy inconsistencies and corruption that have crippled industry,” said an economist based in Harare who asked not to be named. “What Zimbabwe needs is not another retreat in Victoria Falls, but bold decisions and honest dialogue about structural reform.”

While some business leaders may see the congress as a chance to influence policy, critics argue that it merely reinforces a façade of progress. Last year’s resolutions—focused on export growth, access to credit, and policy clarity—have yet to yield any measurable impact.

As the congress begins, the nation will be watching not just for words, but for action. Without a fundamental shift in both policy direction and private sector accountability, Zimbabwe’s economic future risks remaining trapped in a cycle of lofty conferences and deepening crises.

Gukurahundi Genocide brewed in Harare

Zimbabweans are worried as the ruling party continues to violate Human Rights in Matabeleland region through the Gukurahundi Genocide Community Outreach program that is led by the chief perpetrator President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa without a legal backup or parliamentary approval. As the outreach kicks off ZimEye will publish the voices of the Gukurahundi Genocide Survivors.

BREAKING LEGAL DRAMA: “Lawyer Needs a Lawyer” – Makebi Zulu Named in Pretoria Lawsuit as Lungu Family Faces Skyrocketing Legal Bills

By A Correspondent | PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA — In a jaw-dropping legal twist, prominent Zambian lawyer and politician Makebi Zulu has found himself at the center of an international legal showdown — one so tangled, it’s now being joked that even the lawyer needs a lawyer.

The family of late former Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is reportedly paying a staggering legal bill to Zulu, who is spearheading the family’s efforts to bury the late leader in South Africa — a move now facing fierce resistance from the Zambian government. But here’s the catch: Zulu is not admitted to the South African Bar, and by law, cannot argue in South African courts without meeting strict legal thresholds, including registering through the Legal Practice Council — just as no South African lawyer can argue in Zambian courts without passing through the ZIA.

The matter escalated dramatically this week when Zambia’s Attorney General, Mr. Mulilo D. Kabesha SC, filed a public interest litigation in the Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa, Pretoria, seeking an urgent interdict to halt the burial.

The State vs. The Family

The lawsuit targets the Lungu family — including former First Lady Esther Nyawa Lungu, daughters Tasila and Bertha, sons Chiyesu and Dalitso, and associates Charles Phiri and Makebi Zulu — along with Two Mountains Pty, the South African funeral home currently holding Lungu’s remains.

Kabesha argues that Lungu’s burial is not a private family affair, but a matter of national interest, governed by Zambian law which mandates military honours and ceremonial rites for a former Head of State. Even if Lungu expressed a preference for a more discreet burial abroad — a claim Kabesha disputes — the Attorney General maintains that public interest must override personal wishes.

He cites the precedent of Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia’s founding president, whose own family’s burial preferences were set aside by the Zambian courts in favour of interment at Embassy Park, the official burial site for the country’s top statesmen.

The interim court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, 25th June 2025 at 08:00hrs, where the Pretoria High Court will decide whether to halt the burial pending full resolution of the dispute.

A Legal Feeding Frenzy

But beyond the constitutional questions and political symbolism, a new drama is unfolding — the lawyers are cashing in.

With multiple high-profile parties lawyered up in two countries, some observers say Zambia is witnessing the beginning of a legal gold rush. “We are talking about dozens of billable hours, cross-border consultations, constitutional arguments, and possible appeals,” one legal insider noted. “And Makebi Zulu, even if he can’t argue in South Africa himself, is at the heart of it.”

Ironically, Zulu — a sharp legal mind known for courtroom theatrics in Lusaka — might now need South African legal representation to defend himself in a Pretoria courtroom. “He’s a lawyer, but now he’ll need a lawyer,” one source quipped.

As the funeral becomes a courtroom battlefield, it’s not just about where Lungu will be buried — but who will profit most before he is.

Who Pays the Bill?

Reports suggest the Lungu family’s legal tab is ballooning, with some critics asking if state resources are being used indirectly. Meanwhile, public interest in the case is surging, with calls for full transparency on who is funding whom — and how much Zambians may ultimately pay for this constitutional fight over one man’s final resting place.

As the Pretoria court convenes at dawn tomorrow, one thing is clear: when presidents die, lawyers live.

Police Name Headlands Honda Fit Horror Crash Victims

By Crime and Courts Reporter — The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of five of the six victims who perished in a horrific road accident involving a Honda Fit and a heavy truck in Headlands on Sunday evening.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:30 PM on June 23, 2025, near the Yorkshire area at the 142-kilometre peg along the Harare-Mutare Highway. According to police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, preliminary investigations suggest the Honda Fit driver was heading towards Mutare with five passengers when he attempted to overtake a tractor on a blind curve. In the process, the vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Sino Howo truck.

All six occupants of the Honda Fit died on the spot. Their bodies were taken to Rusape General Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

On Tuesday, June 24, Commissioner Nyathi confirmed that five of the victims had been positively identified by their next of kin. They are:

  • Portia Choto (29), a female adult from Chikanga 1, Mutare
  • Kupakwashe Tandi, a male infant aged 3 months from Chikanga 1, Mutare
  • Rudo Elizabeth Chafa (36), a female adult from Budiriro 5, Harare
  • Prince Tashinga Makota (28), a male adult from Mutare Rural Camp, Mutare
  • Wadzani Nyoni (37), a female adult from Budiriro 1, Harare

The identity of the sixth victim is still being verified and will be released once relatives have been informed.

Commissioner Nyathi extended the police’s condolences to the bereaved families and appealed to all motorists to adhere to road safety regulations, particularly avoiding dangerous overtaking on blind spots.

Court Action To Block Lungu Burial In SA

BREAKING: Attorney General Kabesha moves to stop Lungu burial in SA

THE burial of former president president Edgar Lungu scheduled for South Africa tomorrow may be hampered by legal proceedings that have been institued by Zambia’s Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha in the Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa,

The suit which is directed against former first lady Esther Lungu, four of Lungu’s children along with family lawyer Makebi Zulu and the company running the morgue where his remains habe been kept is seeking an interim court order to prevent the burial of Lungu who died in South Africa about three weeks ago

The Attorney General is requesting that no burial take place until all disputes regarding Dr. Lungu’s final resting place are resolved—specifically, whether he should be interred in Zambia with full military honours, customs, and traditions, as mandated by Zambian law and in keeping with public interest.

In his application, the Attorney General contends that a state funeral for a former Zambian Head of State is a formal public event governed by strict military protocols and intended to honour individuals of national significance.

Kabesha further argues that, even if it were true— a point he denies— that the late President wished not to have a state funeral, such personal wishes must yield to the greater public interest.

The Attorney General also cites legal precedent, noting that the Zambian courts previously set aside the burial wishes of the nation’s founding President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, in favour of public interest considerations relating to interment at Embassy Park.

Those named in the lawsuit include former First Lady Esther Nyawa Lungu, Bertha Lungu, Tasila Lungu, Chiyesu Lungu, Dalitso Lungu, Charles Phiri, and Makebi Zulu.

The Attorney General has additionally named Two Mountains Pty (the Morgue), where Dr. Lungu’s remains are currently held, as a respondent.

This action has been brought before the Pretoria High Court under Article 177(5)(c) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia, in the Attorney General’s capacity as government representative and protector of the Zambian public interest.

Hearing of the Interim Interdict Application against the burial is expected to be heard tomorrow, Wednesday 25th June 2025 at 08:00hrs in the morning.

Attorney General launches public interest litigation opposing burial of former President in South Africa.

The suit is directed against members of the late President’s family and two other individuals, seeking an interim court order to prevent the burial of the late 6th Republican President, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

Hearing of the Interim Interdict Application against the burial is expected to be heard tomorrow, Wednesday 25th June 2025 at 08:00hrs in the morning.- ZNBC

Air Ambulances: Govt Battles Operational Costs, Lack of Pilots

Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora has revealed that Zimbabwe’s air ambulance service has already saved hundreds of lives, even as the government battles operational challenges, including a lack of local pilots.

Addressing Parliament recently, Mombeshora said the government’s air evacuation programme had airlifted hundreds of critically ill patients to major referral hospitals in Harare and Bulawayo since its launch.

“To date, 345 patients have been flown to the Harare base at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, while 66 patients were evacuated to the Bulawayo base at the United Bulawayo Hospitals,” he said. “These cases have included maternity complications, premature births, and other critical emergencies. Many lives have been saved.”

He added that plans were underway to expand the service by positioning more air ambulances in strategic regional centres such as Victoria Falls, Mutare, and Masvingo.

However, the health minister admitted that a shortage of pilots was hindering full operational capacity.

“There are currently no pilots for the helicopters,” Mombeshora said, highlighting the complexity and expertise required to operate the air ambulances.

“The air ambulance assets—namely the helicopters—are wholly owned by the government of Zimbabwe. Operating these aircraft requires highly technical expertise, including checks by IATA-certified engineering technicians before and after each flight.”

To address the shortfall, the government recently signed a contract with aviation firm Game Drive to provide certified pilots and technical staff. The company will also train Zimbabwean personnel to eventually take over operations from foreign experts, primarily Russian nationals who had been manning the programme.

“The objective is to ensure sustainability and build our own local capacity,” said Mombeshora.

The air ambulance service was introduced as part of broader efforts to improve emergency medical care and reduce preventable deaths, especially in rural and remote parts of the country where ground ambulance services are often limited.
