Zanu PF Launches Glen View South By-election Campaign Amid Intimidation, Vote Buying

By A Correspondent

As the April 12 National Assembly by-election for Glen View South approaches, ZANU PF candidate Tsitsi Tawomhera has come under scrutiny amid reports of vote buying and voter intimidation tactics being employed by the party.

Tawomhera, a 37-year-old national executive member of the ZANU PF Youth League, won the primary elections last Sunday to secure the party’s nomination for the by-election, following the death of local legislator Grandmore Hakata of the opposition CCC in January.

While ZANU PF has struggled to win the constituency in recent years, the party is now making aggressive moves to reclaim the seat, which has been largely controlled by the opposition for two decades.

Tawomhera, confident of her chances, declared that she would run a “vigorous campaign,” claiming that the opposition had failed to serve the people of Glen View South. She stated:

“For a long time, the opposition has been dominant in Glen View South, but they have failed to deliver. The Members of Parliament we have had over the years did not report back to the people; they remained silent while we faced numerous challenges like cholera outbreaks, poor roads, and a lack of development.”

However, reports from local voters and opposition figures suggest a more troubling side to the ZANU PF campaign. Allegations of vote buying have surfaced, with claims that party supporters are being offered money, food, and promises of development in exchange for votes. Additionally, there are reports of ZANU PF officials intimidating voters, pressuring them to support Tawomhera or face repercussions.

In one instance, a local resident, speaking anonymously, revealed:

“We are being pressured to attend ZANU PF rallies, and if you don’t show up, people start talking about your loyalty to the party. Some are even offering cash to people who say they will vote for them. It’s becoming very clear that the election isn’t just about ideas, it’s about who can pay the most and intimidate the hardest.”

The opposition has condemned these tactics, claiming that they undermine the democratic process. As the election date draws closer, the issue of vote buying and voter intimidation looms large over the by-election, raising questions about the integrity of the race and the fairness of the competition.

Judge Dismisses Blessed Mhlanga’s Application for Particulars

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | High Court judge Gibson Mandaza has dismissed an application AMH journalist Blessed Mhlanga who was seeking further particulars from the state to argue his bail appeal.

Mhlanga is accused on publishing videos containing inciting messages following a press conference with Blessed Geza, a war veteran and Zanu PF member who is demanding the resignation of president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Through his lawyer Chris Mhike, Mhlanga asked the state to avail video graphics of the alleged press conference arguing that what was uttered in the videos was different from what was on the request for remand papers.

In coming up with his ruling Mandaza said his court can only interfere where there is a misdirection by the lower court.

“In my view for the the requested video to played in thus court may be inappropriate and this can be done during trial.

“In appeals of this nature, it is the findings of the court aquo which must be attached,” Mandaza said.

He said the High Court should confine itself with the laws.

“Allowing this court to view the videos is tantamount to making this court make a decision which should come out at trial.

“I therefore conclude that the application by the defense fails,”he said.

Bail hearing now on.

Cop Takes Own Life After Betting Loss

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Gweru police officer who committed suicide last week did so after after losing borrowed money to betting.

Claude Jele downed an unidentified poison shortly after penning a suicide note.

The Aviator online game, developed by Spribe, is an online game that has gained popularity across the globe.

It is a social multiplayer game where players place bets on a plane that takes off and flies higher and higher.

A multiplier counter starts as soon as the plane sets off, beginning from 1x and incrementing as time goes on.

Although the plane flies indefinitely, it can still fly off at any time, and players must cash out their bets before that happens.

There is no telling when the plane will fly off.

This adds to the intrigue of placing an Aviator bet and cashing out at the right moment.

Sources told H-Metro Jele had lost US$3000, which he had borrowed, by the time he took his life.
“Officer vakakwereta mari ikanyudzwa nekandege.
“Zvavaremera kudzosa uye kuwana counseling kwakuzvitorera upenyu,” said the source.
In the suicidal letter, Jele wrote:
“Having survived all these 38 years, I have reached a point where I feel like it’s all the same being on this earth or leaving.
“So, please do not accuse anyone or anything, it’s my personal decision to end my life this way; reads part of the suicidal note.
He said his death would inflict severe pain and he asked for forgiveness from his family urging people to avoid making false allegations against his wife.
He said his suicide was because of his failures in life.

Chinamasa Wields Axe on Chiwenga

By Parliamentary Reporter– Zanu PF legal affairs secretary Patrick Chinamasa has been assigned to spearhead efforts to neutralize online dissent against Mnangagwa’s “ED2030” agenda as the party escalates its crackdown on digital activism, targeting individuals and groups using social media to challenge President Mnangagwa’s proposed continued rule.

Speaking at a Zanu PF meeting in Mutare over the weekend, Chinamasa reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Mnangagwa’s continued rule, declaring, “President Dr. ED Mnangagwa’s leadership has brought invaluable progress to our nation. We will not relent in our efforts to persuade him to accept our unanimous support for his tenure until 2030.”

However, Chinamasa also issued a stern warning to digital activists, vowing to unmask those who use anonymous accounts to criticize the government. “Ghost accounts cannot hide you; we have the means to identify perpetrators of malicious social media activity, and they will face consequences,” he warned.

Escalating the Digital Clampdown

Under the pretext of curbing misinformation and protecting national stability, Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere has announced plans to introduce new regulations targeting online activities. Speaking at a Ministers Meet the Media event last week, Muswere described social media as a “double-edged sword” that, while enabling engagement, is also being “misused by activists and critics to undermine government interests.”

“Social media is not properly governed, and this has led to a situation where people are chasing shadows—shadows that have no meaning; shadows run by ghost accounts operated by individuals seeking to demonize their own country,”Muswere stated.

He also accused former journalists of transforming into “activists-for-hire,” using digital platforms to push political agendas without verification. He insisted that upcoming laws would ensure accountability and prevent social media from being weaponized against the state.

“Part of our responsibility as a ministry is to ensure that social media is governed effectively. We are preparing new legislation to regulate these platforms and hold users accountable,” he added.

Mnangagwa’s Deepening Authoritarianism

Since ousting Robert Mugabe in a military coup in 2017, Mnangagwa initially portrayed himself as a reformist leader. However, his administration has been defined by increasing authoritarianism, the suppression of independent media, and a crackdown on opposition voices. His government has repeatedly targeted activists, journalists, and opposition politicians under the guise of maintaining national security.

Legislation such as the Cyber and Data Protection Act (2021) has already been used to silence critics, with individuals arrested for social media posts deemed critical of the government. Human rights organizations have documented cases of abductions, arbitrary arrests, and judicial harassment of dissenting voices.

Power Struggle with Chiwenga Driving the Crackdown?

The latest crackdown on digital activism comes amid rising tensions between Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. While Mnangagwa’s faction pushes for his continued rule until 2030, Chiwenga’s camp has been quietly positioning itself for a leadership takeover.

Chiwenga, the former military general who played a decisive role in the 2017 coup, has long been seen as Mnangagwa’sbiggest political rival. His allies within the military and intelligence services remain powerful, and sources within Zanu PF suggest that the digital clampdown is partly aimed at weakening Chiwenga’s influence.

Social media platforms have become a battleground for political factions within the ruling party, with activists and whistleblowers leaking information that exposes corruption and internal disputes. Analysts argue that Mnangagwa’s new digital crackdown is not just about controlling opposition voices but also about preventing internal party rivals from using online platforms to undermine his leadership.

State-Controlled Media and Narrative Engineering

Muswere emphasized that Zimbabwe already has a structured governance system to ensure the public has access to “accurate information.” He urged journalists to rely solely on government sources, reinforcing Zanu PF’s efforts to monopolize information.

“The media has a critical role in nation-building, in terms of identifying any issues, negative or positive, that impact our Vision 2030. We urge journalists to be ethical, verify facts, and seek information from official government platforms,”Muswere stated.

Critics argue that these remarks reflect a broader agenda to erode press freedom and consolidate state control over media narratives. Zimbabwe ranks poorly on global press freedom indices, with state-controlled media dominating the landscape while independent journalists face increasing persecution.

Global Trends vs. Zimbabwe’s Digital Repression

The push to regulate social media aligns with global trends, as many countries have introduced cybersecurity laws. South Africa’s Cybercrimes Act addresses digital offences, the UK’s Computer Misuse Act (1990) governs online threats, and the US has the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and Communications Decency Act to regulate digital spaces.

However, Zimbabwe’s approach is viewed as more repressive, given its history of using such laws to silence opposition. The 2021 Data Protection Act was initially presented as a cybersecurity measure but has been weaponized to justify surveillance and targeting of critics. The proposed new laws signal yet another step toward deepening digital authoritarianism.

As Mnangagwa tightens his grip on power, digital spaces remain a critical front in Zimbabwe’s ongoing political struggle, with the government determined to control the narrative—both online and offline.

Gono Farm Fraud: Court Okays Audits

COURT UPHOLDS ADMISSIBILITY OF AUDIT REPORT IN ZWL$137 MILLION GALWEX INVESTMENTS FRAUD CASE

Harare – In a significant development in the ongoing criminal trial involving Clark Clever Makoni and Beverly Aisha Ndonda Makoni, who stand accused of defrauding Galwex Investments (Pvt) Ltd of ZWL$137 million, the court has ruled in favour of admitting a key audit report as evidence.

The accused, who were contracted by Galwex Investments, a company linked to former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr Gideon Gono, are facing serious allegations of fraud, forgery, and theft stemming from their management of Valley Lodge in Mutare.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate Stanford Mambanje dismissed the defence’s objection to the admissibility of an internal audit report compiled by Galwex’s internal auditors. Magistrate Mambanje held that the document was procedurally prepared and fell within the bounds of relevant and admissible evidence.

“There is nothing irregular about tendering the report,” Magistrate Mambanje ruled. “It was compiled as part of routine internal company processes. Any questions about its authenticity will be addressed during cross-examination.”

Following the court’s ruling, State Prosecutor Heather Muwokoto proceeded to formally submit the report as an exhibit, marking a pivotal moment in the case against the Makonis.

The Allegations

The State alleges that the Makonis unlawfully altered the directorship of Valley Lodge, fraudulently registering the property under their own names and unlawfully withdrawing large sums from Galwex’s corporate accounts.

Prosecutors further allege that the accused manipulated CR14 forms—company documents used to reflect changes in company directorship—and submitted them to banks and other institutions to gain access to Valley Lodge’s financial resources.

In previous hearings, Ms. Muwokoto called the complainant’s internal auditor, Ms. Lindiwe Sabeka, who provided expert testimony on the irregularities uncovered by Galwex’s internal audit. Ms. Sabeka, a qualified forensic accountant, told the court that the accused had been engaged by Galwex solely as estate agents and managers for Valley Lodge.

“The accused were never authorised to alter ownership records or access company accounts,” Ms. Sabeka said, confirming that the audit revealed numerous financial discrepancies that implicated the Makonis.

Defence Challenge Overruled

Defence counsel Mr. Admire Rubaya had argued that the audit report lacked the formal certification of an independent public auditor and was therefore inadmissible. However, the court found that the report, being an internal document used in the ordinary course of business, satisfied the requirements of admissibility at this stage of proceedings.

Corroborating Witnesses

The State’s case has been further bolstered by independent witnesses, including Mr. Tonderai Karumbidza, a manager from ZB Bank. Mr. Karumbidza testified that the accused submitted forged CR14 forms, misrepresenting themselves as the new owners of Valley Lodge, and subsequently engaged in unauthorised withdrawals from the company’s accounts.

Additionally, Mrs. Lindsay Musukutwa, representing the Registrar of Companies, confirmed that official records at the Companies Office still list the Omar Family as the legitimate directors of Valley Lodge.

The court also heard evidence from Mr. Ayoob Omar, a key witness and former proprietor of Valley Lodge, who sold the property to Galwex Investments in 2009. Mr. Omar confirmed that his family remains the rightful directors of Valley Lodge and has never sanctioned any changes to the company’s ownership structure.

“We did not authorise any alterations to the directorship records. There are still unresolved matters between us and Galwex Investments,” Mr. Omar told the court.

Trial Adjournment

With the audit report now part of the official court record, the trial has been adjourned to March 28 for the continuation of proceedings, including the cross-examination of witnesses and the presentation of further evidence by both parties.

Legal Implications

The case highlights the increasing scrutiny over fraudulent manipulation of corporate records and the critical role of internal controls and forensic audits in exposing white-collar crime.

If convicted, the Makonis could face significant custodial sentences, given the scale of the alleged fraud and the breach of fiduciary duties linked to their management of Valley Lodge.

The matter continues before the Harare Magistrates’ Court.

The Critical Implications of Chris Mutsvangwa’s Remarks for Zimbabwe’s Future

By Eng Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi | Recently, a recording featuring Chris Mtsvangwa has stirred controversy in Zimbabwe. In this audio, Mtsvangwa, a member of the ruling ZANU-PF party and a former government minister, makes remarks that appear to undermine the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) and question the integrity of the government. His comments have raised concerns about the current state of Zimbabwean politics and the military’s role within it.

In the recording, Mtsvangwa speaks critically about the ZNA, suggesting that it is not as formidable as it should be. He controversially claims that the South African Army is the strongest in the region, which many see as a direct insult to the ZNA and those who have served it. This statement is particularly jarring for veterans and active members of the military, who have dedicated their lives to serving Zimbabwe. By elevating the capabilities of a foreign military over their own, Mtsvangwa has ignited feelings of humiliation among those who have served the nation faithfully.

Moreover, Mtsvangwa’s comments about the Vice President of Zimbabwe add another layer of complexity to the situation. By questioning the leadership within the government, he appears to sow doubt about the current political structure. This kind of rhetoric can destabilise public confidence in governmental institutions, which is particularly dangerous in a nation that has already faced extensive political turmoil. Given the historical context of Zimbabwe’s politics, where leadership changes have often led to unrest, such comments might exacerbate tensions within the ruling party and the broader political landscape.

Additionally, Mtsvangwa discusses the events that led to the removal of former President Robert Mugabe. His perspective hints at a discontent with the existing political order and suggests that significant factions within the government may be dissatisfied with the current leadership. This kind of internal dissent can be detrimental, especially if it leads to further divisions within the ruling party. The implications of such divisions could be far-reaching, potentially affecting governance and stability in Zimbabwe.

The backlash against Mtsvangwa’s remarks has been swift. Critics have pointed out that his statements could undermine the morale of the ZNA and tarnish the image of the government. In a nation where military service is often viewed with respect, questioning the capabilities of the ZNA can be seen as a betrayal. Many Zimbabweans view the military as a symbol of national pride and Mtsvangwa’s remarks risk alienating those who have served.

Chris Mtsvangwa’s recent recording raises serious questions about loyalty, governance and military pride in Zimbabwe. His comments will not only sparked outrage among military personnel and veterans but also highlighted potential fractures within the ruling party.

Govt U Turn On Title Deeds

Govt Cracks Down on Land Barons, Tightens Title Deeds Programme

Harare – The Government has announced it will not issue title deeds for houses built on illegally allocated land by land barons, as part of a sweeping move to clamp down on fraudulent land deals and safeguard homeownership rights.

Speaking to state media, National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Zhemu Soda stressed that only settlements that meet regulatory standards and have essential infrastructure will be eligible for regularisation under the Kwangu/Ngakwami Presidential Title Deeds Programme.

“We are not issuing title deeds for houses built on land allocated by land barons,” said Minister Soda. “We are working with the Kwangu/Ngakwami Trust to mobilise resources for regularisation, including road construction and water and sewer system installations. Once assessments confirm a settlement is suitable, title deeds will be issued.”

The government’s stance comes amid concerns that rogue land barons are seeking to exploit the Presidential Title Deeds Programme, which aims to provide secure homeownership for ordinary Zimbabweans.

Minister Soda outlined that the Government, in partnership with the Kwangu/Ngakwami Trust, is prioritising infrastructure development in qualifying settlements, ensuring that only properties in compliant and properly serviced areas will be granted title deeds.

In a show of progress, the Government has already begun issuing 21,000 title deeds to homeowners in state-sanctioned housing schemes, with eligible citizens urged to visit district offices with identity documents, proof of payment, lease agreements, and sales agreements.

“Our ministry prepares the files, which are then sent to the Deeds Office for issuance,” Soda explained. “Significant progress has been made in Epworth, where the Kwangu/Ngakwami Trust has established field offices to facilitate the process.”

The initiative covers both Government housing schemes and State land distributed by local councils, with the goal of empowering homeowners, improving tenure security, and increasing property values.

Minister Soda also issued a strong warning to home-seekers, urging them to avoid intermediaries and deal directly with Government offices to avoid being duped by land barons.

“We urge citizens to take title deeds seriously and to avoid intermediaries. We work directly with citizens and do not want them to lose their money to unscrupulous activities by land barons,” he said.

As part of its broader commitment to improving housing delivery, the Government is also rolling out several projects across the country, including:
• The recently commissioned flats in Dzivaresekwa;
• Ongoing construction of four blocks of flats in Dombotombo, Marondera, set for completion by early 2025;
• New housing developments in Lupane to cater to its growing status as Matabeleland North’s provincial capital;
• Planned housing in Siakobvu and Mutawatawa for civil servants;
• The Crownlands project in Chinhoyi, which will provide over 1,000 serviced stands for Government employees.

Minister Soda reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to tackling housing challenges, reducing commuting costs for civil servants, and securing affordable homeownership for Zimbabweans.

“With various efforts underway, Zimbabwe’s housing sector is set for a major transformation,” Soda said. “But citizens must be cautious and only acquire properties through legal channels.”

The Government maintains that legal, well-serviced, and properly regulated housing developments remain key to securing Zimbabwe’s urban future.

Mutsvangwa Triggers Mnangagwa, Chiwenga Showdown?

By A Correspondent

ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa has found himself at the center of a political storm following a scathing attack on Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, in which he labeled him cruel, illiterate, and unelectable.

The harsh remarks have now prompted Chiwenga to seek a meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, demanding action against Mutsvangwa for his controversial statements.

Mutsvangwa’s comments, made in a leaked recording, have ignited tensions within ZANU PF, with the outspoken spokesperson targeting Chiwenga’s leadership and qualifications. He referred to Chiwenga as “cruel,” “illiterate,” and “an electoral liability,” remarks that have already caused a stir within the party.

Mutsvangwa’s criticisms appear to stem from personal ambitions, as he seeks to position himself as a potential leader of the party, viewing Chiwenga as an obstacle to achieving that goal.

Sources close to the Vice President reveal that Chiwenga is deeply angered by Mutsvangwa’s attacks. “Chiwenga has demanded a meeting with Mnangagwa to discuss the matter and to urge the President to take decisive action against Mutsvangwa,” said a well-placed source. The Vice President is reportedly seeking a resolution to prevent further damage to his reputation and standing within the party.

The tension between Mutsvangwa and Chiwenga is being viewed as part of an ongoing power struggle within ZANU PF. While Mutsvangwa has consistently been an influential figure in the party, his remarks about Chiwenga suggest a more personal vendetta and a push for leadership. His outspoken ambition has made him a divisive figure within ZANU PF, with some members rallying behind him, while others view his actions as a challenge to party unity.

As the political drama unfolds, all eyes are on President Mnangagwa, who will need to address the issue carefully to maintain cohesion within his party. The outcome of the anticipated meeting between Chiwenga and Mnangagwa could have significant implications for the future leadership dynamics in ZANU PF.

Tungwarara To Oversee Highly Anticipated Youth Fund

By A Correspondent| In a landmark move to empower the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs, President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be launching the highly anticipated Youth Fund this week at a vibrant ceremony held in Harare.

The initiative, which has been hailed as a game-changer for Zimbabwe’s youth, is set to provide financial support, training, and mentorship to young people across the country, enabling them to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic growth.

The Youth Fund, which will be overseen by Presidential Advisor and youth development champion, Paul Tungwarara, is a testament to the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by young Zimbabweans.

Tungwarara emphasized the transformative potential of the fund.

Under the guidance of His Excellency, we will ensure that every dollar is accounted for and that every young person who accesses this fund is equipped with the tools to succeed,” he said.

The launch of the Youth Fund comes on the heels of the successful rollout of the War Veteran Welfare Fund, which was introduced in all ten provinces last month.

The War Veteran Welfare Fund has already begun to uplift the lives of former liberation fighters, providing them with financial support, healthcare, and housing.

The announcement has been met with widespread applause from young Zimbabweans, many of whom see the fund as a beacon of hope in challenging economic times.

Tariro Moyo, a 24-year-old aspiring entrepreneur from Bulawayo, expressed her excitement, saying, “This is the opportunity we’ve been waiting for. With this fund, I can finally start my clothing business and employ other young people in my community. Thank you, President Mnangagwa, for believing in us.”

Similarly, 28-year-old Tendai Chikwava, a tech enthusiast from Harare, praised the initiative for its inclusivity. “The Youth Fund is not just about money; it’s about empowering us with skills and mentorship. I’m confident that this will unlock the potential of many young innovators like myself,” he said.

The Youth Fund will be administered through a transparent and accountability.

Tungwarara assured the public that the fund would prioritize marginalized groups, including young women and people living with disabilities, to ensure that no one is left behind.

As Zimbabwe continues on its path toward Vision 2030, the launch of the Youth Fund marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to build a prosperous and inclusive society. With the youth constituting a majority of the population, this initiative is not just an investment in individuals but in the future of the nation itself.

President Mnangagwa’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment has once again demonstrated his visionary leadership, earning him praise from all corners of the country. As the Youth Fund takes off, the nation watches with hope and anticipation, ready to witness the transformative impact it will have on the lives of millions of young Zimbabweans.

ED Hunts Down Anti-Varakashi Digital Activists

By Parliamentary ReporterPresident Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has escalated its crackdown on digital activism, targeting individuals and groups using social media to challenge government narratives and expose corruption.

In a move widely seen as an effort to tighten control ahead of the 2028 elections, Zanu PF legal affairs secretary Patrick Chinamasa has been assigned to spearhead efforts to neutralize online dissent against Mnangagwa’s “ED2030” agenda.

Speaking at a Zanu PF meeting over the weekend, Chinamasa reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Mnangagwa’scontinued rule, declaring, “President Dr. ED Mnangagwa’s leadership has brought invaluable progress to our nation. 20,000 Health Workers Lose Jobs To “Hurrican Trump”

By Health Reporter- he government has announced that over 20,000 health workers have been affected by recent funding cuts from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a move that has dealt a major blow to Zimbabwe’s healthcare system.

Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora said the government is mobilizing resources to absorb these workers—who include doctors, nurses, and village health workers—into the public payroll. Many of them were previously funded by USAID and partner organizations, playing a crucial role in the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

The funding cuts stem from an executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump, whose administration drastically reduced aid to Africa, prioritizing domestic policies and shifting global funding commitments.

Trump’s foreign aid policies significantly affected health programs across the continent, including PEPFAR (the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), which had been a lifeline for millions of HIV-positive patients in Zimbabwe.

Massive Job Losses, Government Intervention

Over 1,000 doctors and nurses who specialized in treating opportunistic infections are among those affected, while nearly 19,000 village health workers, who were instrumental in providing primary healthcare in rural communities, have also lost financial support. At least 15,000 of these workers relied on payments from partner organizations.

Speaking at last week’s Ministers Meet the Media briefing, Mombeshora assured the public that Treasury is working on solutions to integrate the affected workers into government employment. He stated:

“We, as the Ministry of Health, have already planned to take over all health workers under the ministry’s employment. There were accountability issues because some health workers employed by NGOs and partners had unclear reporting structures. At times, when they were absent, we didn’t know their whereabouts.”

“We had already started discussions last year to ensure all workers in the health system fall under the Ministry of Health. If partners wish to assist, they can provide top-ups, but all employees must belong to the ministry.”

Mombeshora emphasized that the government is committed to expanding its healthcare workforce, aligning with Zimbabwe’s target of doubling its health personnel by 2030.

ARV Supplies Secure—For Now

Despite the funding cuts, the minister reassured the public that Zimbabwe has sufficient stocks of antiretroviral (ARV) medication to last until June 2025. However, shipments intended to cover the latter half of the year have been suspended, creating uncertainty.

“We cannot wait for the outcome of the 90-day review process before acting. In terms of service delivery for those on HIV and AIDS treatment, there will be no disruption. No one should be scared or worried,”Mombeshora said.

The USAID funding cuts highlight the lasting impact of Trump-era policies on Africa’s health sector, forcing governments like Zimbabwe’s to scramble for solutions to keep critical programs running.

Auxillia Mnangagwa Has Telephoned Marry Mubaiwa Coercing To Recruit So She Can Accuse VP Constantino Chiwenga | INVESTIGATION

INTERVIEWS LOADING SHORTLY.

Dear First lady Auxillia Mnangagwa.

I write to you asking you –

1. Why you are all of a sudden contacting Marry Chiwenga three years after my interview when you indicated you have no intentions whatsoever to intervene or assist in her plight.

2. Can you justify your requesting her to assist you in accusing her ex-husband over decapitating (further described by Chris Mutsvangwa) which you yourself and your husband have participated in?

3. Since this very same, Marry Chiwenga is a modern day Herbert Chitepo bomb-attack-type-victim, how do you distance yourself then from the Rhodesia intelligence 1975 method of violently liquidating legitimate ZANLA/ ZANU leaders, which your husband Emmerson is still to comment over 2017 State House announced allegations?

4. Contrary to your previous statement to me that you never participated in commanding soldiers to violently install your convicted armed robber brother over the Negomo Chieftainship, when you also said in our last interview in 2022 that you were sat at the back row, as a child- ZBC footage is very clear that you and your husband Emmerson, vacated State House to drive to Chiweshe to install a convicted armed robber in March 2022. (Video in the link)

5. During your previous Chiweshe visit, you commanded over 80 soldiers and security officers to go and violently harass your own relatives on behalf of this armed robber. (Documentary evidence)

6. These incidents have also your husband Emmerson’s advertising of the fake name and fake inventor Maxwell Chikumbutso (an armed robber suspect out on bail) who your husband has assisted to con the local and international public US$3,125,000.

The Swiss, the Czech Republic, and other investors require their refund from you and your fake inventor since your husband has confessed that he has been behind this fake invention from its inception.

When are you and your fake inventor processing their refunds?

7. A president who assists an armed robber scam the public millions of dollars, and furthermore abandons State House to go and install another armed robber to a judicial institution, implies that he abandoned State House duties back in 2022, and became an armed robber accomplice, does it not?

8. A president who announces on state television that he has been sponsoring an armed robber suspect since 2015, to scam the public is an official statement that all is while he has never been in state duties at any time, but been all this while and an armed robber accomplice, doesn’t it mean?

9. Now can your husband urgently contact me over correspondence that I have in my possession that he has been receiving instructions from his Rhodesia Special Branch boss, Dan Stannard, to make sure that all legitimate ZANLA/ZANU leaders beginning with Ndabaningi Sithole (1975), are neutralised.

10. Can he answer to why on earth he on 28 Jan 2025, assisted this very same armed robber suspect for credibility elevation, using his (Emmerson’s) same 1970s “sentenced/poisoned to death talk,” to scam the public with it.

11. Is this not clear evidence that he (Emmerson Mnangagwa) all this while since the 1970s has been scamming the army and the public using this very same statement in order to gain credibility validation so he can appear like a real leader when he is not?

12. Your involvement with Uebert Angel (and the author of election-rigging-financed-by-stolen-public-money) Kamlesh Pattni in violent Goldmafia operations that have been taking place since 1992 in various countries since Kenya, and which the reserve bank, RBZ governor has made clear are not necessary because the gold is not on sanctions, are they not further evidence that both you and your husband a long time ago vacated national duties, and you have simply been conducting operations that are downright unethical?

13. In these circumstances is it not clear that both you and your husband are simply trying to violently outsmart and just like the former First Lady said, liquidate Constantino Chiwenga and his wife, Marry?

14. Can you and your husband Emmerson urgently respond and address the public over these questions within the next five hours.

15. If you fail to comment, the news articles and broadcast may end up being published without your comment.

16. Sincerely.
Simba Chikanza, Al Jazeera GoldMafia Documentary Founding Researcher.

Disappointing DeMbare Drop Points Again

Sports Correspondent

Dynamos Football Club’s struggle to secure a win in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw against TelOne in their latest encounter.

This result marked the third consecutive draw for DeMbare, leaving their fans frustrated and questioning the team’s ability to capitalize on key moments.

In what was another challenging outing for the Harare giants, Dynamos seemed to lack the cutting edge required to break down a resolute TelOne side.

Despite dominating possession for large periods, DeMbare was unable to find a winner after they were pegged back by a well-executed equalizer from TelOne.

The match also highlighted DeMbare’s inability to convert chances into vital points, a trend that has characterized their start to the season. With each draw, the pressure mounts on the team to find their rhythm and push for higher positions in the standings.

Meanwhile, rookie side MWOS continues to impress, cementing their place at the top of the league table with a 2-0 victory over Yadah. Their impressive form in the early stages of the season has seen them rise to the summit, overtaking more established teams and proving their credentials as serious contenders in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Other results from the weekend’s fixtures saw GreenFuel and Highlanders share the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw, while Chicken Inn were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Platinum. Simba Bhora emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Herentals College, while Kwekwe United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bikita Minerals.

As the season progresses, Dynamos will need to reflect on their form and find a way to convert draws into wins if they are to challenge for the top honors. The search for consistency remains crucial for the Harare club, as they seek to shake off this disappointing run of results.

The league table, for now, sees MWOS at the top, while DeMbare will have to regroup and work harder to climb up from their mid-table position.

Importance Of Patience On The Road

In our fast-paced world, impatience often seeps into our daily lives, including how we behave behind the wheel.

But the road is not a place for rash decisions or hasty actions—it’s a place where patience can literally save your life.

If you refuse to exercise patience while riding or driving, you might find yourself in a far worse situation: as a patient in a hospital bed, a casualty in a morgue, or another statistic in a graveyard.

The roads are filled with vital signs and markings that serve a critical purpose. Road signs, signals, and lane markings aren’t just there for decoration—they are messages designed to guide and protect you. When you choose to ignore them, whether by speeding, overtaking dangerously, or neglecting to follow traffic rules, you put yourself and others at risk.

Patience on the road means taking the time to properly assess your surroundings, respecting speed limits, yielding when necessary, and abiding by the rules set forth to ensure everyone’s safety. These guidelines are not meant to slow you down or ruin your day; they are meant to preserve your life. A single moment of impatience could lead to an irreversible consequence.

For example, ignoring a red light or failing to yield could lead to a tragic collision, leaving not only you but also others involved suffering the consequences. If you’re driving too fast for road conditions or overtaking on blind corners, you might be tempting fate. That sudden moment of impatience can result in an accident that could change your life forever—or end it prematurely.

The road messages are clear. The speed limits are there to keep you safe. The warning signs are there to prepare you for potential hazards ahead. The lane markings are there to help you stay in your lane and avoid dangerous intersections. Respecting these messages is an act of self-preservation. Ignoring them could place you in a hospital bed, or worse, a morgue.

So, the next time you find yourself behind the wheel, take a deep breath and remind yourself of the consequences of impatience. Your life is worth more than reaching your destination a few minutes earlier. Be patient. Respect the road, its messages, and the safety of those around you. It could mean the difference between life and death.

Drive safe. Be patient. Save lives.

WiFi Poacher Kills Chiredzi Farm Worker

By A Correspondent

A fatal confrontation occurred on a Chiredzi farm when a 19-year-old farm worker, Ask Ndhlovu, was struck on the forehead with a stone by a man accused of “poaching” the farm’s Wi-Fi.

The assailant, 22-year-old Moment Mavasa, has been arrested and charged with Ndhlovu’s murder.

According to Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson for Masvingo Province, the incident took place at Farm 3 in Hippo Valley.

On the day of the attack, Ndhlovu and his colleague, Peter Mutapati, encountered Mavasa and his accomplice, Tafadzwa Mafuta, who were attempting to access the farm’s Wi-Fi without permission.

When asked to leave, the situation escalated, resulting in the tragic death of Ndhlovu.

Richard Tsvangirai Blasts Mnangagwa Regime For Reducing Elected Councillors to Mere Spectators

By A Correspondent

In a scathing statement released on Saturday, Norton Member of Parliament, Honourable Richard Tsvangirai, condemned the actions of the Mnangagwa regime for what he describes as a systematic erosion of the role of elected councillors in Zimbabwe.

Tsvangirai criticized the government for undermining the authority of local representatives, saying, “The role of Councillors as policymakers has been systematically stripped away. Decisions are now made by the Minister, while elected Councillors are reduced to rubber-stamping instead of representing the people.”

He went on to express his dismay over the current state of local governance, emphasizing that “those chosen by the residents to lead are now spectators, while those with no understanding of local realities dictate policies.”

According to Tsvangirai, this shift in power is not only frustrating for elected officials but also a betrayal of the democratic principles Zimbabwe should stand for.

“Those with no understanding of local realities dictate policies,” Tsvangirai added, further highlighting the disconnect between those in power and the communities they govern.

His remarks raised questions about the transparency and accountability of current governance structures at the local level, suggesting that councillors may be struggling to remain active participants in decisions that directly affect their constituencies.

Tsvangirai’s comments come at a time when questions about corruption within local government have been raised.

Critics have long argued that some councillors are not doing enough to address local issues, possibly due to the growing influence of central government decisions. These concerns about corruption and accountability in local politics remain a hot-button issue for many Zimbabweans.

“This is not democracy!” Tsvangirai declared emphatically. His call for a return to genuine local governance, where elected councillors have the power to make decisions on behalf of their communities, echoes the frustrations of many citizens who feel their voices are being sidelined in the current political climate.

The statement by Tsvangirai is likely to spark further debate on the role of elected officials in Zimbabwe’s local government structures and whether they are genuinely serving the interests of their communities or simply becoming instruments of a centralized, authoritarian regime.

Chiwenga Is Dull, Incompetent: Mutsvangwa In Leaked Audio

By A Correspondent

A secret recording has recently surfaced, revealing ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa making harsh criticisms of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

The leaked audio, which has since sparked controversy, features Mutsvangwa attacking Chiwenga’s capabilities and leadership qualities.

In the recording, Mutsvangwa is heard describing Chiwenga as “harsh, unelectable, and lacking formal education.”

He further mocked Chiwenga’s pronunciation, a moment that appears to highlight his disdain for the Vice President’s communication skills.

“He is dull and incompetent,” Mutsvangwa says in the recording, which has caused a stir within the ruling party.

“He’s unelectable. You can’t expect someone who cannot even pronounce words correctly to lead.”

Mutsvangwa’s comments suggest deep dissatisfaction within the party’s ranks regarding Chiwenga’s leadership style and public persona. His remarks raise questions about the internal dynamics within ZANU PF, and whether divisions within the party are becoming increasingly apparent.

While Chiwenga has been a prominent figure in Zimbabwean politics, Mutsvangwa’s criticism presents an unexpected challenge, especially as it comes from within the party’s own circle. As the audio continues to make waves, it remains to be seen how these comments will affect the political landscape and ZANU PF’s internal unity.

Richard Hachiro Gets Surprise Call-Up to Replace Injured Nakamba

By A Correspondent

In a surprise move, Richard Hachiro of Ngezi Platinum Stars has been drafted into the Warriors squad to replace injured captain Marvelous Nakamba.

Nakamba, who has been a stalwart for the team, suffered a recurrence of a nagging calf injury over the weekend, forcing him to withdraw from the squad.

Hachiro, who has been in impressive form for Ngezi Platinum Stars, has been handed a chance to don the national team jersey and prove himself on the big stage. The call-up is a testament to his hard work and dedication, and he will be eager to seize the opportunity and make a name for himself.

Nakamba’s injury is a blow to the team, but Hachiro’s inclusion is a welcome boost. The Warriors will be looking to Hachiro to bring his energy and skills to the table as they prepare for their upcoming matches.

With Hachiro on board, the Warriors will be hoping to maintain their momentum and continue their push for success. The team’s technical staff will be working closely with Hachiro to ensure a seamless transition and to get him up to speed with the team’s strategies and tactics.

As the Warriors embark on this new chapter, fans will be eagerly watching to see how Hachiro performs and whether he can help the team achieve their goals. Chiwenga Can’t Lead Because He Can’t Pronounce Words Properly: Mutsvangwa

By A Correspondent

A secret recording has recently emerged, capturing ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa launching sharp criticisms at Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. The leaked audio, which has since stirred controversy, features Mutsvangwa questioning Chiwenga’s leadership abilities and overall qualifications.

In the recording, Mutsvangwa refers to Chiwenga as “harsh, unelectable, and lacking formal education.” He also takes aim at Chiwenga’s communication skills, mocking his pronunciation and accent.

“He is dull and incompetent,” Mutsvangwa states in the audio, adding, “He’s unelectable. You can’t expect someone who cannot even pronounce words correctly to lead.”

Mutsvangwa’s scathing remarks indicate a growing dissatisfaction within ZANU PF regarding Chiwenga’s leadership approach. The criticisms shed light on the internal divisions within the party and raise concerns about Chiwenga’s standing among his own colleagues.

Despite Chiwenga’s prominence in Zimbabwean politics, Mutsvangwa’s comments present an unexpected challenge to the Vice President’s leadership credentials. With the recording now circulating widely, it remains uncertain how these revelations will affect the political climate within ZANU PF and its unity moving forward.

Mnangagwa Intensifies Crackdown on Social Media Activists

By Parliamentary ReporterThe Emmerson Mnangagwa-led administration is escalating its crackdown on social media, targeting individuals and groups that use digital platforms to challenge government narratives and expose corruption.

Under the guise of curbing misinformation, preventing anonymous accounts, and maintaining national stability, Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere has announced plans to introduce new regulations to police online activity.

Speaking at a “Ministers Meet the Media” event last week, Muswere said social media had become a “double-edged sword,” allowing for engagement while also being misused by activists and critics to undermine government interests. He described unregulated digital spaces as a breeding ground for “ghost accounts” spreading falsehoods against the state.

“Social media is not properly governed, and this has led to a situation where people are chasing shadows — shadows that have no meaning; shadows run by ghost accounts operated by individuals seeking to demonise their own country,” he said.

Muswere also accused former journalists of turning into “activists-for-hire,” using social media to push political agendas without verification. He insisted that new laws would hold social media users accountable and ensure that digital platforms are used responsibly.

“Part of our responsibility as a ministry is to ensure that social media is governed effectively,” Muswere stated. “We are preparing new legislation to regulate these platforms and hold users accountable.”

Mnangagwa’s Intolerance to Dissent

Since coming to power in 2017 following a military coup against Robert Mugabe, Mnangagwa has portrayed himself as a reformist. However, his administration has been marked by increasing authoritarianism, crackdowns on opposition voices, and suppression of independent media.

His government has frequently targeted activists, journalists, and opposition politicians under the pretext of maintaining national security. Laws such as the Cyber and Data Protection Act (2021) have already been used to silence critics, with individuals arrested and charged for social media posts deemed critical of the state.

Zimbabwean authorities have a history of criminalizing dissent, employing repressive tactics such as abductions, arbitrary arrests, and the use of the judiciary to intimidate opposition figures. The ruling ZANU-PF party has consistently framed independent journalism and digital activism as tools of “regime change,” a label used to justify harassment and surveillance of government critics.

Government-Controlled Information Spaces

Muswere emphasized that Zimbabwe already has a governance structure that guarantees access to what the state deems”accurate information.” He urged journalists to rely on official government sources, reinforcing the administration’sefforts to control narratives and restrict alternative viewpoints.

“The media has a critical role in nation-building, in terms of identifying any issues, negative or positive, that impact on our Vision 2030,” he said. “We urge journalists to be ethical, verify facts, and seek information from official government platforms.”

Critics argue that these remarks are part of a broader effort to erode press freedom and consolidate state control over information dissemination. Zimbabwe ranks poorly on global press freedom indices, with government-aligned media dominating the landscape while independent journalists face threats and persecution.

Global Context and Zimbabwe’s Digital Clampdown

The move to regulate social media aligns Zimbabwe with global trends, as many countries have introduced laws to govern digital spaces and prevent cybercrime. However, in Zimbabwe, these measures are widely seen as a tool for political control rather than genuine cybersecurity efforts.

South Africa’s Cybercrimes Act regulates social media use to prevent cyber-related offences, while the United Kingdom’sComputer Misuse Act (1990) addresses digital threats. The United States has multiple laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and Communications Decency Act, to govern online spaces.

Despite these comparisons, Zimbabwe’s approach is viewed as more repressive, given its history of stifling opposition voices. The country’s 2021 Data Protection Act was initially framed as a cybersecurity measure but has been used to justify the surveillance and targeting of critics. With the latest push for stricter social media regulations, Mnangagwa’sadministration continues to tighten its grip on digital spaces, reinforcing an already shrinking civic space.

The proposed law signals yet another step toward deepening digital authoritarianism in Zimbabwe, where the government sees social media as a battleground for political control rather than an avenue for free expression and engagement.

Chiwenga Under Siege

By Munacho Gwamanda-Zanu PF is moving to delete Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s political career as it formally tables a proposal in Parliament to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rule beyond his constitutional mandate.

Speaking at an inter-district meeting in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central Province, Zanu PF’s Chitepo School of Ideology principal, Munyaradzi Machacha, confirmed that the party’s resolution to keep Mnangagwa in power was being actively implemented through government channels.

He dismissed claims that the proposal sought to grant Mnangagwa a third term, clarifying that it aimed to extend his current leadership until 2030 to ensure stability and continuity.
“To facilitate the implementation of Resolution Number 1, a committee has been established, comprising provincial chairpersons from all 10 provinces, provincial political commissars, and representatives from all party wings,” Machacha explained. “This committee will work closely with the legal department to craft strategies, while Parliament explores ways to bring this resolution to life.”

As tensions escalate between Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, Zanu PF National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri has stepped in to mediate the growing factional rift.

The two leaders are embroiled in a fierce battle for control of the party beyond 2028.

Initially, Mnangagwa and Chiwenga had a verbal agreement that the vice president would succeed Mnangagwa after his second term.

However, Mnangagwa has since backtracked, instead maneuvering to extend his grip on power, a move that has triggered internal divisions.

Mnangagwa’s loyalists have been pushing for constitutional amendments to enable him to remain in office, portraying him as an indispensable leader whose rule should continue.

This has led to heightened discord within the ruling party.

At a special ‘State of the Party’ indaba held at the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare on Thursday, Muchinguri acknowledged the damaging impact of the leadership wrangles on party cohesion.
“It is shameful for any leader to engage in primitive and barbaric political bickering that divides the party,” she said. “Such behavior only benefits opposition forces.”

She commended the party’s Information and Publicity Department for implementing a robust social media policy to curb factionalism and urged members to focus on promoting the party’s achievements rather than engaging in internal disputes.

Muchinguri reaffirmed that Mnangagwa, as Zanu PF’s First Secretary, remains the face of the party. She warned that any member found denigrating him would face disciplinary action.
“Our President and the entire Presidium must be protected by shunning factionalism, which is a creation of self-serving individuals. This behavior poses a national security risk,” she stated.

The indaba was attended by Politburo members, Central Committee members, Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, provincial chairpersons, and other senior party officials.

Muchinguri emphasized the importance of discipline, warning against unresolved primary election disputes and the misuse of disciplinary processes for personal gain.
“Some members are using government resources to campaign in constituencies where there are duly elected MPs. This behavior will not be tolerated,” she said, adding that a circular would be issued to address these issues.

She also stressed the need to empower women and war veterans through economic initiatives, citing Mnangagwa’s Presidential Solar, Borehole, and Loan Schemes as key development efforts.

Muchinguri’s intervention highlights the severity of the ongoing power struggle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.

The rift, which has been simmering since the 2017 coup that brought Mnangagwa to power, has now reached a critical juncture.

Chiwenga, who played a pivotal role in the military takeover that ousted Robert Mugabe, is determined to assert his claim to the presidency.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa’s manoeuvres to retain power have intensified, threatening to destabilize Zanu PF ahead of the 2028 elections.

Top Restaurant Boss Scammed US$48K

By Crime and Courts Reporter-A Harare magistrate, Munashe Chibanda, has convicted Takudzwa Munyawarara, the director of Exclusive Projects Private Limited, for defrauding Garwe Restaurant owner Mandy Mvukwe of US$48,000 in a failed mobile toilet import deal.

Munyawarara was sentenced to 18 months in jail, with 12 months suspended—six on condition of good behaviour and six upon restitution of the money by April 15.

He will serve an effective six-month jail term.

During the trial, the court heard that in May last year, Mvukwe sought to start a mobile toilet rental business and engaged Munyawarara, who claimed he could source and import the units from China.

The agreement was for 160 toilets at US$300 each, covering duty and transport.

On June 25, Munyawarara allegedly collected US$48,000 from Mvukwe’s house in the presence of a witness, promising delivery by the end of July 2023.

However, when the deadline passed, he became evasive.

Munyawarara denied the charges, claiming the allegations were fabricated to cover up an illegal transaction. However, the court found him guilty after trial.

Who is Maynard Manyowa?

“The circulating viral Chris Mutsvangwa audio is the product of official Uebert Angel counter intelligence-manure/or manyowa put together by the preacher’s pink-lipsticked mentee, Maynard Manyowa, a very busy man who operates 6 jobs in a single day (attached are video snapshots from his many job-roles- one should wonder which part of his day is dedicated to real news-storytelling, not agenda setting on behalf of the 6 bosses he daily reports to).

  1. Manyowa is the UK fugitive (ED agent) Uebert Angel’s official publicist. Angel, who says he fears he will be killed upon returning to Britain since the broadcasting of the GoldMafia documentary, is Manyowa’s published official and professional mentor. Angel instructs him and other mentees like Mudiwa Hood (Ian Mutandwa) to cover up for Mnangagwa.
  2. Manyowa is the SA fugitive, Shephed Bushiri’s official spokesman and he on Friday 14 March appears on an ENCA broadcast clip the same day as his Mutsvangwa content as Bushiri’s spokesman. His role continues despite his recent denials that suggest he left the job in 2021.
  3. Manyowa is an official Counter intelligence operative for Owen Mudha/ED’s murderous presidential guards, who are trying to cushion Mnangagwa from the embarrassment he’s suffering. In his anti Chiwenga news production, Manyowa suggests nothing is happening in the country this year. But things have already happened and to date Mnangagwa’s own personal prophet Andrew Wutaunashe has in the last month published Mnangagwa as a leader requiring serious prayers as he is now at the level of a humiliated Biblical Nebuchadnezzar now eating grass.
  4. Manyowa is a Motlanthe-project agent together with his colleague Sengezo Tshabangu who since 2018 daily work to maintain Mnangagwa’s illegal presidency.
  5. Manyowa is a Chin’ono counter intelligence operative which him and his colleague Hopewell Chin’ono work since 2018 create lipsticked Daddy character journalism (recently admitted by Chin’ono as hurakashi) to keep the public preoccupied and distracted, and then ultimately destroyed like he did the many victims of the 2018-19 crackdowns.
  6. Maynard Manyowa is also an instructed loyale by his mentors, to daily hunt down at night journalists who are exposing Uebert Angel so to inflict grievous bodily harm on them, as various video footage show.

Reporting to 6 bosses each day, when does Manyowa get time to publish the truth?

Manyowa gets red-flagged in my rule book from my 2003 days, when 22 years ago, when I built auditing systems for 3 insurance companies.

Maynard Manyowa was reached for comment last month.

Zanu PF Activist Roasts Mutsvangwa Over Leaked Audio Attacking Chiwenga

By Rizz Wafa

Clarifications on Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa’s Utterances:

I would like to correct a few misleading claims made by Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa.

  1. The False Allegation Regarding General Chiwenga and Mary Mubaiwa:

It is incorrect to suggest that General Chiwenga was directly or indirectly responsible for the medical condition that led to his ex-wife’s amputation. While their divorce and post-divorce matters were highly contentious, exploiting Mary Mubaiwa’s suffering for political mileage is just as reprehensible as the alleged abandonment of an ill person in their time of need.

  1. The Misrepresentation of Presidential Clemency:

It is also misleading to claim that General Chiwenga blocked President Mnangagwa from granting Mary Mubaiwa clemency. On April 14, 2022, Magistrate Lazini Ncube found Mubaiwa guilty of fraudulently attempting to upgrade her customary marriage and sentenced her to a one-year prison term. However, due to her health condition, the court ruled out both a custodial sentence and community service, instead ordering her to pay a fine of ZW$60,000.

The Clemency Act, commonly known as the Presidential Pardon, applies only to custodial sentences, not fines. Since the court had already accounted for Mubaiwa’s ill health in its ruling, there was nothing for the President to pardon. Mutsvangwa’s claim is therefore a blatant attempt to manipulate the Mubaiwa case to tarnish General Chiwenga’s image and falsely portray him as a misogynist to alienate him from female voters.

  1. The Attack on General Chiwenga’s Academic Credentials:

Mutsvangwa asserts that General Chiwenga lacks the intellectual capacity to be a military general, citing his strong Shona accent—specifically his tendency to replace the “L” sound with an “R” sound in English.

However, linguistic nuances do not determine intelligence. The late Professor Sheunesu Mupepereki, a respected University of Zimbabwe lecturer and TV presenter, also had a strong Shona accent and pronounced “L” as “R”—as did many others. That did not make him any less intellectual.

Furthermore, while General Chiwenga may have retaken one or two compulsory military courses, he successfully completed all the required training necessary for his promotions, eventually rising to a Five-Star General. By 1997, he was already a Three-Star General, but the DRC military operation was designated as a Two-Star General assignment, which is why my late uncle, General Amoth Chin’ombe, was given the command.

To suggest that Chiwenga was sidelined due to “illiteracy” is both ignorant and dishonest. At the time, the Zimbabwe National Army had at least ten generals. Were they all supposed to lead the DRC mission?

Moreover, despite his accent, General Chiwenga holds a PhD in Ethics, a peer-reviewed thesis completed over four years at an accredited South African university.

  1. Mutsvangwa’s False Claims About Mugabe’s Role in the Liberation Struggle:

Previously, Mutsvangwa made the ridiculous claim that Robert Mugabe was a coward who lived in luxury in Maputo while others trained in military camps. This ignores the fact that Mugabe was already 53 years old in 1977—an age well beyond standard military training requirements. What serious army trains 53-year-olds for active combat?

Now, Mutsvangwa claims Chiwenga was a “useless busybody” in Tanzania, only joining the war effort in late 1977 and leading “high school dropouts” instead of “intellectuals” like himself.

This is historically inaccurate. Neither Mutsvangwa nor the young recruits who left high school to fight were “intellectuals”—they were freedom fighters. And the true leaders of the war saw fit to make Dominic Chinenge (now General Chiwenga) their commander.

If Mutsvangwa insists on questioning others’ war records, perhaps the Zimbabwean public deserves answers about his own war history:

What was his Chimurenga war name?
Which front was he deployed to, and with whom?
Where was he during the Lancaster House Conference, and what role did he play?
What degrees did he obtain after the war, and from which institutions?

  1. Distorting Liberation War Training Facts:

Mutsvangwa should educate the youth with factual history instead of distorting it for personal gain. He must clarify:

Who trained in Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique, and for what reasons?
Who trained in Bulgaria, Libya, Romania, and Yugoslavia, and when?
Why was each training location chosen, and what was the strategic objective?
His false claim that Abel Muzorewa sent troops for training in Libya is so absurd that it doesn’t even warrant serious discussion.

  1. The Reality of the 2017 Coup and Military Involvement
Mutsvangwa now falsely credits himself as the mastermind behind Mugabe’s removal in November 2017.

The truth is:

While he played a role, it was as a foot soldier, not the architect. His contributions were commendable in the right context, but they were not decisive.
The military was never neutral after November 6, 2017, when Mnangagwa was fired as Vice President.
In fact, from September 11, 2017, when war veterans were attacked by police, the army had already decided to protect them and neutralize the police.
This explains why Victor Matemadanda made the famous statement, “It can’t.”
Mutsvangwa’s claim that General Happyton Bonyongwe was about to arrest army generals before the coup is also a lie.

When George Charamba wrote “Chine vene chinhu ichi” (“This thing has its owners”), he was speaking from inside knowledge of military discussions at KGVI Barracks.

I, too, was informed at the time—as I am today.

  1. The Military’s Current Position:

Mutsvangwa suggests that the military is neutral today. That is false.

The military is deeply concerned about:

Rampant corruption:

The influence of self-serving politicians like Douglas Mahiya and Christopher Mutsvangwa
The role of economic elites (Zvigananda) in Zimbabwe’s power structure
If events unfold today and the military facilitates a shift in power, Mutsvangwa will pretend he was playing a strategic role all along. If nothing happens, he will claim he was right all along.

But let me be clear: the military is not standing by idly. There is no neutrality—far from it.

The 2030 agenda has been overshadowed by the 2025 agenda.

Watch this space.

Chamisa Laments Zim’s Brain Drain

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has expressed his concern over the ongoing brain drain in Zimbabwe, attributing it to the actions of the Zanu PF regime. In a statement released on Friday, Chamisa lamented the worsening plight of citizens, emphasizing how the country continues to lose its brightest minds.

Chamisa shared his personal frustration, stating, “Just this morning, I received four different calls from some professionals, all planning on leaving the country to seek opportunities in other countries.” He described the constant distress of receiving calls from Zimbabweans desperate to leave, adding, “My daily agony is waking up every day to the lived nightmare of receiving yet another call from a fellow Zimbabwean desperate to leave the country searching for what is believed to be greener pastures. This is a story I have experienced repeatedly for the past 20 years.”

These calls, according to Chamisa, are not mere conversations but often pleas for help. “Often, these calls are not just conversations, they are pleas for assistance, requests for guidance on finding a way to exit and escape to a perceived better life and future,” he explained.

He criticized the country’s leadership for failing to address the crisis, pointing out the negative impact of the brain drain on the nation’s future. “The sheer scale of brain drain we are experiencing is staggering. As a nation, we are hemorrhaging talent and gifts, losing the very citizens we have invested in and educated (with meager resources for that matter), to other economies, where they go to build and strengthen economies elsewhere.”

Chamisa described this as “plainly heartbreaking” and blamed the lack of leadership in the country. “Leadership is the missing link. Those in leadership have let the people down. By leadership, I mean everyone within the ecosystem of governance and influence. Any serious leadership would not allow this hemorrhaging to continue untamed or unchecked,” he said.

He further stressed the unsustainable situation, noting, “We cannot continue with a situation where all of us, as a people, are perennially preoccupied with finding a way out of our own country. I am yet to see a nation that thrives when the bulk of its best minds are outside it. It can’t!”

Chamisa also commented on the widespread belief that opportunities lie outside the country, saying, “It has become a common disposition for citizens to go seeking opportunities in other countries. The motivation being that the grass is greener elsewhere. Granted, the grass always seems greener elsewhere, but it should be greenest wherever we are. Yet, right now, that green grass is benefitting no one here—except a select few.”

He concluded by calling for a collective effort to address the issue and work towards Zimbabwe’s transformation and prosperity. “This must stop. It will take all of us a collective effort to win Zimbabwe for transformation and prosperity, and end this nightmare,” he urged.

Stay Calm Behind The Wheel

Drive safe. Be patient. Save lives.

The Zanu Pf National Chairperson
Cde OCZ Muchinguri
ZANU PF HQ

15 March 2025

Dear Cde Muchinguri

*RE: VP Chiwenga Direct Attack by Cde Chris Mutsvangwa.*

I write this letter to your attention seeking a legal intervention pertaining to the utterances made by Cde Chris Mutsvangwa to Vice President and second secretary of the party Zanu Pf Cde CDGN Chiwenga.

The statements made which are awash on social media denigrating VP Chiwenga affects the reputation of the party and first secretary since Cde Mutsvangwa is a Party Spokeperson and everything that he says binds the party. As a concerned cadre the effects of such utterances has got a negative bearing which poses a security threat. Infact he seems to imply the President is above the law and can interfere with issues before the courts.

Cde Mutsvangwa in his utterances brought the party into disrepute and will now destabilise the political environment which will in turn affect the social life of the masses. The Direct attack on VP Chiwenga has got a negative implication on our international relations and the nation at large eroding the gains of the new dispensation.

Hon Vice President CDGN Chiwenga is a Presidential Appointee and the attacks by Cde Mutsvagwa might seem as if the President has made a mistake in Appointing him which is also a direct attack on President Mnangagwa.

We have lower level cadres who were expelled from the party due to purpoted social media abuse. I strongly advocate for a corrective action against Cde Mutsvangwa.

Such actions should be strongly condernmed as they undermine the Authority of Cde Chiwenga and cause serious divisions within the Zanu Pf party.

Mashonaland West Province leadership cannot look aside at this Gross Indiscipline.

We hope and trust that your office shall take this matter with the importance and urgency it deserves

Yours Concerned Cadre

Muchinguri-Kashiri Admits Total Chaos In Zanu PF

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri acknowledged on Thursday that the resolution passed at the party’s annual conference in Bulawayo last year, which proposed constitutional amendments to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term until 2030, is being misused by “a few individuals” to create divisions within the party.

During a party briefing at Zanu PF headquarters in Harare, Muchinguri-Kashiri explained that some activists were facing disciplinary action in the provinces due to the manipulation of the “2030” slogan. “Allow me to put the 21st National People’s Conference resolution number one under spotlight. Party leadership has observed, with dismay, the abuse of the resolution and the weaponisation of the ‘2030’ slogan,” she said.

She emphasized that the resolution was a collective decision and should not be hijacked by a few for personal interests. “The resolution is a collective outcome that cannot be monopolised by a few individuals for personal gain and glory. These few individuals are now exploiting the resolution and the 2030 slogan to provoke discord and petty disciplinary cases. This must stop forthwith.”

Muchinguri-Kashiri also reiterated that the resolution had broad support within the party, calling for patience as proper party protocols were followed. “You’re all aware that the resolution was and is supported by everyone hence let us give the requisite party protocol time to process it accordingly,” she added.

ED Moves To Delete Chiwenga

Nelson Chamisa Bemoans Recurring Brain Drain, Citizens’ Suffering

Kirsty Coventry parents Survive Violent Armed Robbery

By Crime and Courts Reporter-Sport minister Kirsty Coventry’s parents have been robbed.

Robert Edwin, and Lyn Coventry’s affluent suburb of Glen Lorne, Harare, was this week robbed by armed robbers making off with valuables worth an estimated US$90,000 in a daring heist.

According to reports, two masked men brandishing weapons forced their way into the Coventry residence, where they overpowered the couple and bound their legs with shoelaces.

The robbers then ransacked the house, looting a staggering haul that included US$15,000 in cash, jewellery valued at US$60,000, Olympic-branded clothing, travel bags, three hair dryers, hearing aids worth US$5,000, and three high-powered hunting firearms.

Police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, which comes amid a worrying surge in armed robbery cases across Zimbabwe in recent years.

The rising trend is partly blamed on economic instability, forcing businesses and individuals to store large sums of cash outside the formal banking system due to growing distrust in financial institutions.

Kirsty Coventry, Zimbabwe’s most decorated Olympian, is best known for her remarkable achievements in swimming.

She won seven Olympic medals, including two golds, making her the most successful African female swimmer in history.

She also holds multiple world records and has represented Zimbabwe with distinction at five Olympic Games (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016).

Following her retirement from competitive swimming, Coventry transitioned into sports administration and politics.

In 2018, President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed her Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation.

In this role, she has pushed for greater investment in grassroots sports, the revival of Zimbabwe’s football program, and reforms to improve the country’s athletics and arts sectors.

Coventry has also served as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and chaired the IOC Athletes’Commission, advocating for the rights of athletes worldwide.

Despite criticism over her association with Mnangagwa’s administration, she has maintained that her goal is to develop sports and empower young people in Zimbabwe.

100 VBUs Established in Gokwe Ahead of Independence Day Celebrations

By A Correspondent| As part of the preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, 100 Village Business Units (VBUs) are being established in Gokwe Nembudziya. This initiative is aligned with the government’s commitment to enhancing food security at the village level, resonating with President Mnangagwa’s vision of inclusive development.

Dr. Paul Tungwarara, Special Presidential Advisor, is leading the initiative to set up these VBUs. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that no community is left behind, stating, “We have deployed rigs to Gokwe to start the drilling of boreholes. Our aim is that every village in Gokwe gets a solarized borehole. This program also extends to schools, enabling them to initiate their own income-generating projects.”

Each VBU is designed to be self-sufficient, featuring a solar-powered borehole under the Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme, two 10,000-litre water tanks, four community water taps, and a one-hectare fenced drip horticultural garden. Additionally, two fish ponds (each 100 cubic meters or 100 square meters) will be included. The design also allows for tailored provisions such as feeding and water troughs for livestock, depending on the specific needs of the area.

The overarching goal is to establish a total of 35,000 units across the nation. Each village typically requires around 33 metric tonnes of grain annually. With proper management, each VBU can produce approximately seven tonnes of grain per cycle, potentially fulfilling about one-fifth of a village’s grain needs. By implementing two production cycles, this could meet roughly one-third of the annual requirement.

This initiative showcases the government’s commitment to sustainable development and food security, aiming to uplift rural communities and enhance their resilience.

Warriors Coach Backs Kadewere To Bounce Back

Sports Correspondent

Warriors head coach Michael Nees has encouraged France-based forward Tino Kadewere to focus on putting in the necessary effort to regain his form after being sidelined with injury and missing recent national team call-ups.

Kadewere, who has yet to make an appearance for Nantes this year, will not be part of the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.

“I’ve had regular discussions with Tino. Unfortunately, he was unfairly blamed last time after being accused of faking an injury,” Nees explained.

“He was out for five months, so I believe those who criticized him publicly should apologize. He’s been sidelined since November.”

The German coach reassured that Kadewere remains in his plans but stressed the need for the player to prove himself before securing a place in the squad.

“Tino is certainly on our radar. He plays at a very high level,” Nees said.

“He needs to regain his confidence, get back to full fitness, and rebuild his self-belief that his body can handle the demands. Once he achieves that, we’ll call him up and assess his performance. If he’s doing well, he’ll be included.”

However, Nees noted that even if Kadewere returns to his club this weekend, it may be too soon for him to rejoin the Warriors.

“He’s been out for five months, so it would be too early. The same goes for Bill Antonio, who’s recovering from an ACL injury and has been out for over a year.”

“But with Tino, our communication has been very good and respectful, and there’s no issue from my side with him,” the coach concluded.

Zanu PF in Panic Mode Over Anti-Mnangagwa Protests

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF is reportedly on high alert following increasing calls from various groups for mass protests aimed at forcing President Emmerson Mnangagwa to resign. As the end of the month approaches, the ruling party has heightened its vigilance and issued stern warnings to anyone threatening national stability.

Zanu PF Director of Information and Publicity Farai Marapira confirmed the party’s preparedness in the face of these protests. “We are closely monitoring the situation, and I assure the nation that we will not tolerate any efforts to undermine peace and stability in our country,” Marapira stated.

The planned protests, which are set for March 31, are allegedly being led by certain factions within the war veterans community, including figures like Blessed Geza, who has openly criticized President Mnangagwa’s leadership. Geza and other disgruntled voices claim that Mnangagwa has failed the nation and should step down immediately.

A key figure believed to be orchestrating the demonstrations is Jeremiah Masawi, a controversial online personality known as “Comrade Nyokayemabhunu.” Nyokayemabhunu has called for a “final push” on social media, urging his followers to take to the streets on March 31 to demand the President’s resignation. In one of his posts on X (formerly Twitter), he declared, “This is the time! March 31 is the day we make our voices heard, and show Mnangagwa that enough is enough!”

Marapira responded firmly during an interview with ZiFM Stereo, emphasizing that Zanu PF is not a party to take such threats lightly. “We will not allow any individual or group to use violence or coercion to achieve political aims. Let me be clear: there is no room for any form of unrest in this country,” Marapira warned. “Comrade Nyokayemabhunu should be careful not to incite chaos or engage in activities that threaten the peace.”

Despite the mounting calls for change, Zanu PF has consistently reiterated its stance that the President’s leadership is secure and that the country will not be swayed by any protests or external pressure. However, the tension within the party and its leadership continues to grow as March 31 draws nearer.

Tafadzwa Chidawa Arrested Again

Two Arrested in Harare for Violating Children’s Act

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | HARARE, Zimbabwe – Tafadzwa Chidawa (36) and Clara Manyepera (38) have been arrested and formally charged in Harare Magistrates Court for allegedly contravening the Children’s Act through the operation of an unauthorized “Matrix Disciplinary and Training Camp” in New Marlborough, Harare.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the duo operated the camp at Number 2165 Tokwane Close without proper registration under the Private Voluntary Organizations Act. They claimed to be providing “rehabilitation” services to children experiencing delinquency, but authorities assert that their activities were illegal and unauthorized. Allegedly, the accused admitted youths into the camp starting from December 6, 2023.

In addition to operating unlawfully, Chidawa and Manyepera are accused of impersonating child protection officers, a role legally reserved for qualified personnel tasked with counseling, supervision, and correcting behaviors associated with delinquency.

The state further revealed the existence of video evidence showing the accused conducting unauthorized training sessions. Following their initial court appearance, the accused were granted bail set at US$300 each and remanded until April 20, 2025, as investigations continue.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts by Zimbabwean authorities to safeguard children’s rights and combat illegal activities that threaten their well-being.

Vendors Under Attack

Harare, Zimbabwe – March 15, 2025

Zimbabweans have taken to social media to express outrage over ongoing crackdowns on street vendors, as municipal authorities, backed by security forces, intensify efforts to remove informal traders from urban centers. The operation follows a government directive aimed at clearing vendors from undesignated trading areas, sparking a heated debate over economic hardship, unemployment, and survival in the country.

A viral image circulating on social media shows a City of Mutare municipal truck loaded with confiscated goods, allegedly taken from informal vendors. Outspoken Zimbabwean social media users have condemned the authorities’ heavy-handed approach, arguing that vending is not a choice but a necessity driven by the country’s economic struggles.

“You attack the very last resort your people have for survival, but you then don’t realize what problems you are creating. People are just after survival, and they will resist some of these things. Vendors are not vendors by choice,” tweeted Setfree Nherera Mafukidze, whose post has garnered thousands of engagements.

Another social media user, Marvin Gudyanga, called on the government to focus on job creation instead of targeting informal traders. “Create employment first!! We want normal leaders,” he tweeted, attaching images of vendors selling food and other goods in urban streets.

The crackdown comes in the wake of an ultimatum issued by Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe, instructing municipal authorities to clear all illegal vending spaces within 48 hours. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has pledged full support for the operation, stating that no one is above the law.

In response, critics argue that Zimbabwe’s high unemployment rate, estimated at over 80%, leaves many citizens with no option but to engage in informal trading to survive. Vendors, who sell everything from fresh produce to clothing and household items, form a critical part of the economy, yet they face frequent harassment from authorities.

Local authorities, particularly in Harare and Bulawayo, have justified the removals, citing concerns over hygiene, congestion, and public order. Officials argue that unregulated vending contributes to littering and obstructs pedestrian and vehicular movement in central business districts.

Despite these justifications, opposition leaders, civil society organizations, and human rights activists have condemned the operation as an attack on the livelihoods of the poor. Some fear that the removal of vendors without viable economic alternatives could lead to increased social unrest.

With tensions rising, it remains to be seen whether the government will reconsider its approach or if vendors will continue to resist the clampdown. For now, the battle between survival and enforcement rages on in Zimbabwe’s urban streets.

Cde Mutsvangwa Caught Pants Down In Leaked Audio

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Our country Zimbabwe has been and continues to be reduced to a pathetic spectacle by those who are tragically obsessed and fascinated with and by social media. Social media is, for far too many, a place for ditching out insults, character defamation and slanderous hate. Where has Ubuntu/Chivanhu gone?

In every corner of our beloved country, in cities, towns and rural areas are communities at the heart of which are cultures rooted in respect, honour and dignities. These values shine more when we have dissagreements.

There are too many “brave” keyboard tigers who hide behind what they tragically believe to be the safety and refuge of the keyboard and social media.

A sad example of the lunatic heights to which social media has flighted many is the leaked audio of Cde Mutswangwa speaking to a UK based pretended journalist, a certain Mr Manyowa. This is the same unscrupulous man who, in recent weeks, have had a frolic in social media manufacturing lies about the alleged operations of the security personnel in the President’s Office. In so doing he has been putting state security and public safety at risk. Even more tragically, these manufactured lies have paused and are pausing grave risk to individuals. All this he does recklessly under the guise of journalism. It is without much doubt that Manyowa is being handled by some attention seeking idiots.

Back to the leaked audio of Cde Mutswangwa. In this audio Mutswanga directs insults and abuse on the Honourable Vice President, Retired General Chivengwa. Apart from the gratuitus insults on his person and career, Cde Mutsvangwa also tresspasses on the VP’s personal and family life. Some of the language used by Cde Mutsvangwa is too graphic, unprintable and simply beyond all imaginable indecency.

First and foremost, apart from being our VP, the object of these dispicable insults is a human being, with personal feelings and a family too. All Zimbabweans of all walks of life will agree that as a person and a leader, the VP is one man who never say a single bad word about anyone, at least not in public. He holds his person and his office with the highest standard of dignity and decorum. This must be an example to all.

The VP is the vice president of our country. An insult and denigration of him in the manner that is evident on the leaked audio or at all is a definite insult not just on our country but also on the appointing authority, His President Excellency E.D Munangagwa. There is no place for any disrespect and no justification of any abuse at all, let alone such gross abuse.

Let us be clear, the VP is a decorated solidier, and hero of our struggle who served the country with distinction during the Liberation Struggle and after.

As a nation, we will always disagree and we must in a functioning democracy. When we do, the test for our maturity and the maturity of our democracy is that we do so in a manner that we remain brothers and sisters; we are responsible for the safeguarding of one another’s personal honour and dignity. The rule is to go for the ball, not for the man’s legs to break them. Whether in public or in private discourse, there is no room for abuse and insult.

Leaders, in particular, must behave and interact with one onother in a manner that is examplary to the nation, particularly to young people.

Cde Mutwangwa must be reminded that being garulous and abnoxious to those that he may want to disagree with is not strength at all. There is strenth in honour, civility and respect.

Let it be clear that education or no education that is not the issue. Countries, including ours, need integrity and leadership that is respectful and respected. In any event, where are the merits of Cde Mutwanga’s education in the leaked video?

Zanu PF as a party has policies and rules of internal engagement. Discipline, respect and commitment runs through these. If Cde Mutswanga had a valid grievience against the VP, it is buffling that he chose social media and in particular a notorious character to air this.

Cde Mutsvangwa’s actions have no doubt caused significant adverse impact on the country and on the party. I shall not comment on any impact on the VP because I am not his spokesman. However, I can generally observe that such would generally cause extreme anguish to the person targeted and to their nearest and dearest.

Zimbabweans in all walks of life expect leaders to put their hands on the plough and do the work in service of the nation rather than spend time on social media speaking to divisive characters and abusing others.
The issue of 2030 must not divide us as a party but must show our democratic marturity.
The way the party has allowed this unconstitutional issue to go unchecked is divisive.
Every ZANU PF member has a tight to agree or disagree with any opinion or resolution.
The way the party has allowe this issue to go now borders on the serious issue of State security.

The stability of the country is now put at risk and something has to be done now and right now.

There are cadres who think that disagreeing with 2030 campaign is a sign that you hate the President. This is total lunacy. ZANU PF fought for democracy and it must allow people especially its members to be democratic. There are people who now believe that the country is theirs alone hell no it is our country all of us.
It is sad that an outstanding communicator like cde Mutsvangwa stoops so low to castigate the Vice President over an issue which he is not an author of. During President Mugabe’s time Mutsvangwa was a rare breed, a candid and outspoken critic of the abuses of freedom fighters endured at the hands of the authorities,it is ironic that the abuse he fought against during the first dispensation continues to dog our heroes.

Christopher Mutsvangwa, quickly seized the opportunity and began to abuse freedom fighters, particularly the Vice President whose role in the liberation struggle, Mutsvangwa persistently strives to denigrate while elevating the role played those in his camp. The motor-mouthed Mutsvangwa was quick to use the his language to score some cheap factional political points on the esteemed VP. Cde Mutsvangwa seized the opportunity to score some cheap political points on people that Zimbabwe respects and revered as seniors during the war and in the party.
It is quite unfortunate that Mutsvangwa has used his loud mouth to portray himself as the prototypical war veteran, the embodiment of everything that the war of liberation stands for and succeeded in making himself some “Mr Zimbabwe” to whom everyone of the 17 million citizens owes some gratitude for political independence.

Despite Mutsvangwa’s distortion of history and his spirited efforts to trivialise the role played by some combatants, particularly the role played by the VP in liberating this country, stubborn historical facts would always show that Cde Chiwenga has remained a hero and is still a hero long after independence.
Mutsvangwa has always come across as someone who is unstable and bitter whenever he is not rewarded with a government post and has often used his undiplomatic, crass and uncouth language to attract attention. and eventually earn political office.
cde Mutsvangwa sought to demonise cde Chiwenga by bringing in personal issues and touching on cde Chiwenga’s marital issues. Every person knows that former Mrs Chiwenga Mary Mubaiwa Chiwenga has her cases in court. Chiwenga does not control the court or the police. It is not true that The President has offered amnesty to Mary Chiwenga. Amnesty can only be offered after conviction and sentencing. It is sad that cde Mutsvangwa lies with a straight face against Vp Chiwenga. This Lunacy should stop.

Cde Mutsvangwa knows very well that some issues should be discussed within the party. Taking this case to social media shows the moments of proper shallowness in cde Mutsvangwa’s judgement. Whateve liquid which controlled cde Mutsvangwa must be flushed from his mind.
Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours so we must protect it from unwarranted, unprovoked, unjustified and unnecessary vomits.
War veterans like General Rugeje which Mutsvangwa tried to disrespect trained in Libya with some of the Commanders who were far senior to him. The likes of Hamunyari Tichatonga, Kenny Tauraya Simbi Chinembiri Chihombe Madhala and Felix Gambiza all members of then Zanla General Staff. Cde Mugabe Muzenda and VP Chiwenga visited these comrades while under training.

The Zanu Representative was the late National Hero Phibion Shonhiwa. Muzorewa never had troops in Libya and thus exposes Mutsvangwa’s lies. He is deliberately distorting history. Where did he fight one may ask. The word is that cde Mutsvangwa spent all his time in Maputo swimming and drinking whisky in Night Clubs. His comments against the VP are very unfortunate.

It should be noted that the war in DRC was fought by a force the size of a Division. In the military that structure is commanded by a two star General not 3 star the rank of General Chiwenga then.

Noone in Southern Africa would dare to confront the ZDF. Even the British will attest to that. ZDF is not militia nor gendermarie. They are highly professional. The VP Chiwenga holds a PhD in ethics so for Chris to suggest that the General is illiterate shows how he pathologically hates the General and how unwise are his comments.

There is a difference between between being clever and being wise.

Al Ahly Threatens to Withdraw from Top Flight Amid Refereeing Disputes

Sports Correspondent

Al Ahly’s Official Statement:

In an emergency board meeting held on Tuesday morning, Al Ahly expressed deep concern over the ongoing instability within Egyptian football, particularly the lack of coordination between the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the Professional Clubs Association. The club voiced frustration over repeated administrative errors that have led to persistent crises in the sport.

A key issue discussed was the decision to assign Egyptian referees to officiate the upcoming Cairo Derby against Zamalek. Al Ahly highlighted that they had formally requested foreign referees for the match, citing previous controversies surrounding local officiating that have affected match outcomes. Additionally, the club reiterated its previous calls for a complete overhaul of the refereeing system, including the appointment of a foreign expert to lead the refereeing committee.

Despite multiple requests, Al Ahly claims their concerns have been ignored, further eroding trust in the current system. The statement stressed that the club cannot accept continued inconsistencies in officiating that could undermine the fairness of the competition.

As a result, Al Ahly’s board has decided to:

Insist on postponing the match until the EFA fulfills its commitment to appointing foreign referees as originally promised.

Withdraw from the league if their demands are not met.

Remain in continuous session to monitor developments and take further necessary actions.

Revolutionizing Learning: How Artificial Intelligence Shapes Personalized Education

Picture a school where each lesson is custom-made for you, so there is no need to wait for others to catch up and vice versa. This is what Artificial Intelligence (AI) is capable of achieving in the field of personalized education. Everything from AI tutors to adaptive learning platforms improves how we learn and makes it more engaging than it has ever been. The global AI in education market was estimated at $1.1 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach 25.7 billion dollars by the end of 2030, with a staggering compound annual growth rate of 45.1 percent. Let us take a look at the incredible impact AI has had on education and its endless possibilities.

What Is AI in Personalized Education?

Personalized education using AI involves the adaptation of learning experiences for individual use through the application of algorithms and data. It’s like how the bookmaker مل بت offers a personalized experience based on your past actions. This really increases engagement, and users are happy to place even more bets. However, there are also good examples in education. For example, DreamBox Learning and Knewton have online programs that change math and reading lessons in real time as the students complete exercises. In addition to delivering content, AI identifies gaps in learning patterns, analyzes them, and recommends resources. According to a survey from Education Week, 86 percent of educators reported improved student outcomes because they used AI tools in 2020.

AI tools integrated into existing technologies are changing the scope of education. For example, MATHia from Carnegie Learning allows students to get feedback on mistakes made so they can correct them on the spot. Chatbots powered by AI, such as ‘Pounce’ from Georgia State University, have been able to increase enrollment rates by 3.3% because they effortlessly guide students through complex processes. McKinsey states that AI tools can reduce administrative tasks for educators by 20%, allowing them to give more attention to students. With the incorporation of AI into education, no student is left behind, and every pupil is equipped with the guidance they require to thrive.

How AI Adapts to Individual Learning Styles

AI adjusts the content and teaching style to fit different preferences. If a student learns better visually or through practical engagement, AI has the capability to switch. The personalized learning approach has shown results in the past. An adaptation of AI-based learning by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation showed an 8% increase in the math success rate. Here’s how it works:

  1. Visual Learners: Over 70% of Coursera users claim that they are able to retain information more when they are provided with visual aids. This shows that interactive videos, images, and infographics are vital for Coursera’s visual learners.
  2. Auditory Learners: With the aid of sound cues and speech recognition, tools like Duolingo help learners who best learn through listening acquire new languages. With the powerful AI that Duolingo uses, its users are now able to acquire new languages at a rate 34% faster than before.
  3. Kinesthetic Learners: Labster is a simulated lab that enables students to do virtual experiments and is, therefore, necessary for VR-based educational engagement. 76% of users have reported increased interest and understanding of the subject as a result of using these teaching tools.
  4. Reading/Writing Learners: Grammarly allows students to improve their skills with personalized feedback and suggestions while they write. Students using Grammarly saw a 44% increase in writing proficiency.

AI helps each student by paying attention to certain learning preferences. Because of that, students are more likely to engage with and remember the subject matter. And if you want to know more interesting things, but from the world of sports, subscribing to Facebook MelBet will help you with this. There you will find news, memes, insiders, and much more. Betting fans will be able to find promo codes there to make their bets even more profitable.

The Role of Machine Learning in Education

As a branch of AI, machine learning (ML) is a powerful resource in educational technology, making it possible to analyze huge amounts of data on students and improve their learning outcomes. For example, Khan Academy uses ML technologies to monitor students’ learning and suggest personalized exercises. ML examines student activities, forecasts difficulties they may experience, and provides help long before it’s needed.

In addition, ML contributes to the construction of models that aim to predict achievement in school. Institutions such as the University of Michigan employ ML technologies to estimate students’ academic accomplishments in order to provide timely support to those who need it most. Research has shown that education systems improved with ML interventions increased student retention rates by 15% for the 2021 school year. Also, learning outcomes are reported to be better by 30% with the use of predictive analytics in IBM’s Watson Education. With this foresight, educators can mitigate challenges before they become issues and create an environment where learners can thrive.

AI-Powered Tools for Student Assessment

AI-powered assessment tools offer real-time student performance evaluation along with valuable insights, helping streamline the evaluation process. From custom quizzes to algorithmic scoring, these tools aid in making evaluations more precise and effective. 58% of teachers claimed to have used AI algorithms for grading and evaluation tasks in 2020, which significantly reduced their workload. Let’s look at some examples:

ToolFunctionExampleImpact
GradescopeAutomated gradingUsed in over 1,200 schoolsCuts grading time by 70%, improves accuracy by 25%
TurnitinPlagiarism detectionWidely used in universitiesEnsures academic integrity, detected 60 million cases globally
QuizletCustom quiz creationPopular in K-12 educationIncreases retention by 30%, used by 50 million students monthly
Smart SparrowAdaptive learning assessmentsUsed in STEM coursesBoosts test scores by 20%, improves engagement by 40%

This learning, assessment, and feedback cycle helps students ease their way through academic growth.

Personalized Feedback and Study Plans Using AI

AI uses specific algorithms to track student performance and provide them with personalized feedback. For example, Edmodo is a platform that provides feedback on assignments, outlining the positives from the submission along with areas needing improvement. This strategy makes certain that learners comprehend what adjustments they must make and encourages continual work. According to a Stanford University study in 2021, students with personalized AI feedback performed 32% better.

Furthermore, AI plans and Content Technologies have transformed the educational experience by creating personalized lessons that use a unique style for every student, automatically creating curriculums, and preparing unique study programs that cater to specific individual goals and the pace of learning. Students using AI excelled with a 25% average increase in test scores, as revealed in a 2022 examination. Content Technologies also increased teacher efficiency by 50% with auto curriculum creation. This tailored approach ensures that students understand exactly what they need to work on, fostering continuous progress.

Benefits of AI in Remote Learning

The incorporation of AI has greatly improved virtual learning by making it more engaging, effective, and easy to access. UNESCO reported that over 1.6 billion students were impacted by school shutdowns in 2020, and AI was instrumental in providing educational services during this time. Here are a few advantages to consider:

  • Always Ready: With the use of AI, tutors such as Carnegie Learning’s Mika can provide assistance at any time. In a study conducted by EdTech Magazine, 78% of the students surveyed reported that they valued the flexibility that AI tutors offered.
  • Personalized Learning: Knewton is one of the many programs that update lessons in real-time, allowing students to work at their own pace. The adaptive learning platform of Knewton resulted in a 38% increase in course completion.
  • Greater Engagement: Quizzes and polls are provided in lessons through other AI tools, such as Nearpod, to keep learners motivated and engaged. Interactive lessons using Nearpod resulted in a 42% rise in the number of students participating.
  • Improved Communication: AI chatbots, like Pounce, help learners with administrative work and provide adequate support in a virtual environment. With the help of Pounce, Georgia State University reported a 21.4% decrease in summer melt rates, which was astonishing.

All of these features guarantee that remote learners have the same quality of education as traditional students while enjoying the convenience and flexibility of online learning.

Unlocking Tomorrow: The Future of AI in Personalized Learning

The use of AI for personalized learning is limitless and will only get better. Picture how, not too far into the future, every student in an AI classroom is flourishing with assistance and feedback designed just for them. AI is set to transform education globally, enhancing accessibility and engaging learners of all ages. By 2030, over 100 million students are expected to be AI-ready, which hints at a paradigm shift in education and learning in an exciting manner. The possibilities are infinite, and we are just scratching the surface!

Mnangagwa Minister’s Parents Robbed In Violent Home Invasion

By Crime and Courts Reporter-Armed robbers have stormed the home of Zimbabwe’s Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation, Kirsty Coventry, along with her husband, Robert Edwin, and Lyn Coventry, in the affluent suburb of Glen Lorne, Harare.

The criminals made off with valuables worth an estimated US$90,000 in a daring heist.

According to reports, two masked men brandishing weapons forced their way into the Coventry residence, where they overpowered the couple and bound their legs with shoelaces.

The robbers then ransacked the house, looting a staggering haul that included US$15,000 in cash, jewelry valued at US$60,000, Olympic-branded clothing, travel bags, three hair dryers, hearing aids worth US$5,000, and three high-powered hunting firearms.

Be Patient On The Road

Drive safe. Be patient. Save lives.

Embarrassed Mnangagwa Administration Frees Opposition Councillor Arrested Over TikTok Video

THE National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Friday 14 March 2025 ceased the prosecution of Ishmael Maukazuva, the Councillor for Ward 12 in Chikomba West constituency in Mashonaland East province, who had been in detention for the past two days, after he was arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers and charged with undermining authority of or insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Councillor Maukazuva, who was represented by Paidamoyo Saurombe of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, was arrested by ZRP officers on Wednesday 12 March 2025, where he was accused of insulting President Mnangagwa, when he allegedly forwarded a Tiktok video clip on Chivhu Residents and Ratepayers Association WhatsApp group, showing a woman allegedly criticising President Mnangagwa for reportedly mismanaging the economy and also passing on some insulting messages against the ruling ZANU PF political party leader.

But on Friday 14 March 2025, prosecutors from the NPA withdrew charges against Councillor Maukazuva on the basis that they had not first obtained a certificate to prosecute from the Prosecutor-General, authorising them to take legal action against the opposition political party Councillor.

According to prosecutors, Councillor Maukazuva allegedly undermined authority of or insulted President Mnangagwa, when he allegedly circulated a Tiktok video clip containing some derogatory and vulgar language reportedly uttered by an unidentified woman, who was criticising the country’s leader.

Prosecutors claimed that Councillor Maukazuva’s conduct of allegedly forwarding the Tiktok video clip of the unidentified woman making some disparaging remarks against President Mnangagwa, including accusing him of bringing “misfortunes” among Zimbabweans and urging him to relinquish power to a “young person”, was unlawful.

Bestiality: Man Forces Self On Neighbour’s Calf, Blames Evil Spirits For Act

By A Correspondent

A 67-year-old Shurugwi man, Twoboy Shamhu, appeared in court facing bestiality charges for having sex with his neighbor’s calf.

Shamhu claimed he was driven to the act due to being sex-starved by his girlfriend and the loss of his wife.

He also blamed evil spirits for his actions.

Magistrate Sithabile Zungula sentenced Shamhu to six months in jail, suspending two months on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining four months were commuted to community service, although the exact number of hours was not specified.

Muchinguri-Kashiri Struggles To Clear Air On 2030 Agenda

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri struggled to clarify the controversial 2030 agenda during a meeting with party leadership, including provincial heads, directors, and ministers at the party headquarters in Harare on Thursday.

The agenda, which some claim is aimed at extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term in office, has stirred considerable debate within the party.

Muchinguri-Kashiri addressed the issue, urging the leadership to serve the party with loyalty and selflessness, regardless of the challenges.

“I urge the Party leadership in its entirety to serve the Party selflessly and loyally, come rain, come night,” she emphasized.

She also sought to clear up misunderstandings regarding the 2030 agenda, which some individuals have used to further their personal interests.

“On the 21st National People’s Conference Resolutions Number 1, the Party leadership observed, with dismay, the abuse of the resolution and the weaponization of the 2030 slogan,” Muchinguri-Kashiri said.

She made it clear that the resolution was a collective outcome and should not be monopolized by a select few for personal gain.

“The resolution is a collective outcome which cannot be monopolized by a few individuals for personal gains and glory,” she added.

Muchinguri-Kashiri condemned those exploiting the 2030 agenda to stir division within the party.

“Those few individuals are now exploiting the resolution and the 2030 slogan to provoke discord and petty disciplinary cases. This must stop forthwith,” she said, urging unity and discipline within the party.

NSSA Board Chair Questioned In Extortion Case

By A Correspondent| National Social Security Authority (NSSA) board chairperson Emmanuel Fundira was interviewed by police yesterday in connection with an extortion case involving Paula January.

Although January is the one under investigation for extortion, Fundira was questioned based on audio recordings and text messages in which she mentioned him while making extortion demands against Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) executives.

Fundira, who is being represented by Makiya and Partners Legal Practitioners, has not been charged with any wrongdoing. However, his name surfaced in the ongoing probe linked to the targeting of RTG executives.

This comes amid concerns that RTG executives are being pursued as part of a broader scheme to weaken the tourism giant’s stock. NSSA, which holds a 91.6% stake in RTG, recently announced plans to dispose of 56% of its shares, prompting speculation about attempts to devalue the company for potential buyers.

Investigations into RTG executives for alleged financial misconduct—covering salaries, gratuities, and allowances—were dismissed by the tourism group’s board as baseless. Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare Edgar Moyo previously held a meeting between NSSA and RTG board members, where it was agreed that Fundira would engage the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to address the allegations.

RTG board chairperson Douglas Hoto confirmed that discussions were underway to resolve the matter, emphasizing that RTG remained committed to transparency and corporate governance.

Human Rights Defender Blasts Minister Garwe for Targeting Vendors

By Tatenda Maposa, Human Rights Defender

The ultimatum issued by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, does not offer a solution to Zimbabwe’s ongoing economic challenges. With the country’s inflation rate standing at 57.5% according to the Consumer Price Index, and over 80% of the population engaged in informal economic activities, Garwe’s approach seems misinformed and ineffective.

Instead of exploring innovative ways to address the informal sector, the minister has resorted to authoritarian tactics that fail to address the root causes of the issue.

It is critical for the minister to recognize that informal employment in Zimbabwe is linked to vulnerability, including heightened risks of food insecurity, limited employment rights, and inadequate social protection. Rather than resorting to heavy-handed measures, the government should consider solutions that take these challenges into account.

We call on Minister Garwe to reconsider his stance and work toward people-centered solutions that acknowledge the hardships citizens are currently enduring.

Reports from various towns have highlighted instances where local councils are seizing people’s belongings by force. This raises serious concerns about how such actions will be accounted for by the nation. The people feel that the minister has made decisions in isolation, without proper consultation with citizens. As a result, his actions are likely to deepen the suffering of already vulnerable populations, further exacerbating poverty.

We urge the government to establish designated, affordable spaces for informal vendors and to formalize the sector, which already plays a significant role in the country’s GDP. Rather than relying on harsh measures, it is essential to implement economic policies that create sustainable solutions, enabling the development of a world-class Zimbabwe with a thriving, viable economy.

Zanu PF Seizes Social Welfare Food Aid Programme

By A Correspondent

Chaos erupted at Mahoto Business Centre in the Zimuto area of Masvingo on Thursday as Zanu PF officials reportedly seized control of a social welfare food aid distribution programme.

Villagers expressed outrage, accusing Zanu PF activists of hijacking the process and distributing aid based on political affiliation rather than need.

“The food aid programme was taken over by Zanu PF activists. Above all, we expect Sabhukus to be objective in the execution of their duties,” said one villager, who wished to remain anonymous.

“Zanu PF activists took over the process and distributed food aid on a partisan basis. The social welfare officers were overwhelmed, and the programme was turned into a Zanu PF event.”

Villagers further claimed that those not aligned with the ruling party were excluded from receiving aid, leading to frustration and protests within the community.

The Social Welfare Department has yet to respond to the allegations or provide an official statement on the matter.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the politicization of aid programs, with critics arguing that such actions undermine the intended purpose of social welfare assistance, which is meant to support vulnerable communities without discrimination.

As tensions rise, the matter remains unresolved, leaving many questioning the integrity of food aid distribution processes in the area.

Zanu PF Heavyweights Lose Sleep Over Anti-Mnangagwa Protests

Mnangagwa Throws DRC President Under The Bus

Harare – The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has decided to withdraw its troops from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), signalling a major shift in regional intervention efforts.

The decision was made on Thursday during a virtual Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government, convened to discuss the escalating security crisis in the DRC.

The meeting was chaired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the current SADC chair.

Following the summit, the SADC Secretariat issued a communiqué announcing a phased withdrawal of troops deployed under the Southern African Development Community Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC). Part of the communiqué reads:

“Summit terminated the mandate of SAMIDRC and directed the commencement of a phased withdrawal of SAMIDRC troops from the DRC.”

The SAMIDRC mission, launched in December 2023, was a regional peacekeeping effort aimed at assisting the Congolese government in restoring stability, particularly in the eastern DRC, where armed groups have fueled ongoing violence.

Troops from South Africa, Tanzania, and Malawi were deployed to support the Congolese Army in neutralizing militant factions and securing the region.

Despite these efforts, the security situation in the DRC remains volatile, with the M23 armed group—allegedly backed by Rwanda—gaining ground. The conflict has displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians, forcing them to flee their homes in search of safety.

The M23 now controls vast territories in the North Kivu and South Kivu provinces, including key cities like Goma and Bukavu, where it has reportedly established a parallel administration.

SADC’s decision to withdraw troops raises concerns about the future of peace efforts in the DRC, leaving President Félix Tshisekedi politically exposed ahead of a contentious election season.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa’s role in overseeing the withdrawal signals a recalibration of regional diplomacy, with Zimbabwe seemingly shifting its stance on the DRC conflict.

Oppah Muchinguri Moves To Stop Mnangagwa-Chiwenga Fierce Fight

By Munacho Gwamanda-Zanu PF National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has stepped in to mediate the escalating power struggle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.

The two leaders are locked in a fierce battle over the control of the party beyond 2028.

They had previously reached a verbal agreement that Chiwenga would take over from Mnangagwa after his second term.

However, Mnangagwa has since reneged on this arrangement and is now maneuvering to extend his rule beyond the constitutional mandate.

Mnangagwa has been actively rallying his support base to portray him as a near-divine figure, with loyalists pushing for constitutional amendments that would allow him to remain in power.

This has heightened tensions within the ruling party, leading to internal divisions.

Speaking at a special State of the Party indaba held at the Zanu PF headquarters in Harare Thursday, Muchinguri-Kashiri acknowledged that the feud has significantly weakened party cohesion.

“It is shameful for any leader to engage in primitive and barbaric political bickering that divides the party.

Such behavior only benefits opposition forces,” she said.
She commended the party’s Information and Publicity Department for developing a robust social media policy to curb the misuse of online platforms by members.

Muchinguri-Kashiri urged party leaders to focus on highlighting the party’s achievements and fulfilling its promises to the electorate to maintain confidence and support.

She emphasized that Mnangagwa, as the party’s First Secretary, remains the face of Zanu PF, warning that any member found denigrating him would face disciplinary action.
“Our President and the entire Presidium must be protected by shunning factionalism, which is a creation of self-serving individuals. This behavior poses a national security risk,” she said.

The indaba was attended by Politburo members, Central Committee members, Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, provincial chairpersons, and other senior party officials.

Muchinguri reiterated the importance of discipline and adherence to party protocols, stressing that unity is crucial for achieving Zanu PF’s long-term objectives.

“We cannot afford indiscipline, distractions, or lethargy. Let us draw inspiration from our party’s rich history and the sacrifices of our forebearers,” she said.

She also raised concerns about the handling of disciplinary cases, noting that some Provincial Disciplinary Committees (PDCs) were failing to exercise due diligence.

Warning against unresolved primary election disputes and the misuse of disciplinary processes for personal gain, she stated:
“Some members are using government resources to campaign in constituencies where there are duly elected MPs. This behavior will not be tolerated,” she said, adding that a circular would be issued to address these issues.

She also highlighted the need to empower women and veterans of the liberation struggle through self-help economic projects.

Muchinguri praised Mnangagwa’s initiatives, such as the Presidential Solar, Borehole, and Loan Schemes for war veterans, as examples of his commitment to national development.

The intervention by Muchinguri underscores the severity of the ongoing power struggle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.

The rift, which has been simmering since the 2017 coup that brought Mnangagwa to power, has now reached a critical point, threatening to destabilize the ruling party ahead of the 2028 elections.

While Mnangagwa seeks to extend his grip on power, Chiwenga, who played a pivotal role in the 2017 military takeover, is determined to assert his claim to the presidency.

Work Hard To Regain Form, Warriors Coach Tells Tino Kadewere

By Sports Correspondent

The Summit issued a clarion call to all parties to uphold international humanitarian principles, emphasizing the protection of civilians, stopping attacks on infrastructure, and ensuring unhindered humanitarian access (Point 8). It also noted the growing humanitarian needs in the DRC, urging the international community, including the United Nations and the African Union, to provide assistance to the people of the DRC (Point 9).
In a significant move, the Summit terminated the SAMIDRC mandate and directed a phased withdrawal of troops from the DRC (Point 10). However, it reaffirmed its dedication to addressing the ongoing conflict by supporting interventions aimed at bringing lasting peace and security to eastern DRC, in line with the SADC Mutual Defence Pact of 2003 (Point 11). The leaders also emphasized safeguarding the DRC’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, advocating for sustainable peace, security, and development (Point 12).
Push for Diplomatic Solutions
The Summit reiterated the need for a political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict, involving all stakeholders—state, non-state, military, and non-military—in the eastern DRC to restore peace, security, and tranquility (Point 13). It called for further integration of the Luanda and Nairobi Processes by the East African Community (EAC) and SADC to enhance peace-building efforts (Point 14). Additionally, the Summit welcomed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) 2773 Resolution, which supports regional efforts by the AU, EAC, Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and SADC, as well as high-level meetings, mediation processes, and initiatives by the UN Secretary-General to restore peace in eastern DRC (Point 15).
Acknowledgment of Leadership
The Summit acknowledged the gratitude expressed by H.E. President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of the DRC for SADC’s continued support in addressing the country’s security challenges (Point 16). It also commended H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Chairperson of the SADC Organ, for her leadership in spearheading regional peace and security efforts (Point 17). President Mnangagwa was thanked for convening the Summit and for his leadership in promoting regional cooperation toward peace and stability in the SADC region (Point 18). In closing, President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude to the attending Heads of State and Government for their commitment to the region’s agenda (Point 19).
A Unified Path Forward
The Extraordinary Summit concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, with SADC leaders committing to a multifaceted approach that combines diplomatic efforts, humanitarian support, and strategic peace-building initiatives. The decisions made today signal a pivotal moment for the DRC and the broader SADC region, as the organization seeks to address one of the most pressing security challenges on the continent.
Further updates will follow as SADC member states begin implementing the Summit’s directives. Stay tuned for more on this critical development.

FIFA Lifts Ban on Bosso

Sports Correspondent

Highlanders Football Club has received a major boost after FIFA lifted a ban that previously prevented the club from registering new players. The ban was imposed after the club failed to pay former coaches Baltemar Brito and Antonio Torres a sum of around US$27,000.

The intervention of businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who stepped in to settle the debt, led to the ban being lifted this Tuesday. The sanctions had caused significant setbacks for the Bulawayo-based team, as they were unable to register new players, leading to a loss of key figures during the off-season.

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu had been left with a depleted squad and limited options, but with the ban now lifted, he has already identified potential signings, including striker Never Rauzhi, who was on loan in the second half of last season, defender Malvern Hativagoni, winger Tendai Muvuti, and midfielders Hubert Ncube and Mafious Chiweta. These players could be included in the squad for the upcoming match against Green Fuel this Saturday.

The lifting of the transfer ban is seen as a lifeline for Highlanders, who have been struggling with a limited roster. In their last two matches, the club was forced to rely on just 18 players. Now, with the transfer window closing on March 31, they have the opportunity to strengthen their squad and address critical gaps before the season progresses.

In contrast, Yadah FC is still grappling with FIFA sanctions after failing to honor contracts with three former players. As a result, Yadah currently has only 13 registered players for the season, a situation that has left the club in a precarious position.

Government Blames Vendors For Economic Turmoil

By A Correspondent

The government has given local authorities just 48 hours to clear illegal vendors, particularly night traders, from undesignated areas in cities and towns. This move, which will be enforced with the help of law enforcement agencies, has sparked significant debate. While the government frames the decision as necessary for public health and safety, the root cause of this growing informal market lies in the country’s high unemployment rate. The question remains: will these drastic measures truly revive the nation’s ailing economy?

Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, cited “serious health, safety, and security concerns,” warning that the increase of unregulated markets has disrupted legally registered businesses and created unsanitary conditions that could lead to disease outbreaks such as cholera and typhoid. “The mushrooming of unregulated marketplaces has disrupted legally registered businesses,” Garwe said, adding that the growing informal sector is also “increasing unfair competition” and creating “unsanitary conditions.”

However, what Garwe’s statement fails to address is the underlying reason why such informal markets have flourished: high unemployment. With an economy failing to create sustainable job opportunities, many individuals, particularly the youth, have turned to street vending as a means of survival. The vendors aren’t criminals; they are citizens pushed to the edge by a lack of viable employment options. It’s not simply a matter of health and safety—it’s about a failing economy that leaves people with few choices.

While the government is committed to fostering a “safe, clean, and orderly environment,” as Garwe emphasized, the measures taken to curb street vending appear shortsighted.

Prosecutor’s Home Broken Into

Chiredzi, Zimbabwe – March 14, 2025 | By A Correspondent | ZimEye | The Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 26-year-old man, Thomas Kwindingwi, to 20 months in prison after he was found guilty of breaking into the home of a public prosecutor stationed at Chiredzi Provincial Magistrate Court.

The burglary took place in the early hours of February 27, 2025, around 1:15 AM, when Kwindingwi used an unidentified object to force open the locked door of the prosecutor’s home while she was asleep.

Once inside, he stole several valuables, including a P37 Pro Itel cellphone, an HP Victus laptop with its charger, and other items. Authorities determined the total value of the stolen property to be $2,915. However, following a police investigation, officers recovered stolen goods worth $1,920 and arrested Kwindingwi.

The court’s ruling reinforces the judiciary’s firm stance against crimes targeting judicial officers and underscores the consequences of burglary. Kwindingwi will now serve his sentence behind bars as law enforcement continues efforts to curb such offenses.

Worse Than Uebert In GoldMafia, Mwonzora Spends 5 Hours Spilling His Secrets In Front Of Same Journalist Like A Movie Script Without A Director

Zimbabwe: A Movie Without a Director—The Full Mwonzora Footage Finally Offloaded

The long-awaited full footage of Douglas Mwonzora’s explosive night between the 27th and 28th Sept 2024 that concluded at Premier Inn Banbury is offloaded, confirming in detail the first 5 hours of continuous-talking plus the chaos, the harassment of British staff, and entitlement displayed by the self-proclaimed opposition leader. The recordings expose how, in a single night, Mwonzora—once a respected lawyer and senior politician—descended into an uncontrollable spectacle, harassing hotel staff, commandeering rooms he had not booked, and behaving in a manner that mirrors his violent political maneuvers in Zimbabwe.

Confirmed Facts from the Full Footage

  • A whole five hours Mwonzora spent spilling his secrets in front of the same investigative journalist who’s been exposing him for seizing Harvest House building, and even after realising his identity, he continues talking, albeit after asking, “this is Simba Chikanza! Did we say anything incriminating?”
  • The long session was at a time Mwonzora’s female CIO colleague was trying to make Simba Chikanza publish the recently surfaced anti-Geza falsehoods that also claim that Nelson was paid USD5million by Emmerson Mnangagwa.
  • After failing to convince Chikanza, the discourse shifts to another drama.

• Harassment of Hotel Staff: Mwonzora is caught on tape verbally abusing two female Premier Inn staff members, making racial remarks and aggressively questioning their English proficiency. This mirrors the same arrogance and disregard for workers’ rights that Zimbabweans have endured under his imposed-leadership.

• Unlawful Takeover of a Room: The footage shows Mwonzora seizing a keycard without permission and taking over Room 417, despite having been booked in Room 217 with a political colleague. His travel companion, a journalist, was forced to spend the night at the hotel reception area after being thrown out of his own accommodation.

• Attempt to Force Hotel Staff into Illegal Acts: Mwonzora can be seen trying to coerce Premier Inn employees into locking up Room 417 for his personal use, despite not being the registered guest. The staff stood firm against his demands, maintaining their professionalism in the face of his erratic behavior.

• Undeclared Intelligence Links: His female colleague, named Agnes, is recorded admitting to being a trained Zimbabwean intelligence officer (CIO). This revelation raises serious questions about the true purpose of their UK trip and its connection to Zimbabwe’s security apparatus.

• Contradictory Public Statements: In his public response on Twitter, Mwonzora falsely claims that he was surprised to find the journalist in his room at 3 AM. However, the full footage confirms they had been together since 9:30 PM the previous evening, with the journalist himself covering the hotel costs.

A Political Career Defined by Takeovers

This footage provides undeniable proof that Mwonzora’s behavior at Premier Inn is not an isolated incident, but part of a larger pattern of entitlement and forceful occupation. Since 2020, Mwonzora has led the violent takeover of opposition assets in Zimbabwe, including the MDC party headquarters (Harvest House) and parliamentary seats, with direct backing from the ruling ZANU-PF regime.

• His takeover of Harvest House was facilitated by state security forces, leading to the violent eviction of Nelson Chamisa’s MDC Alliance. Victims of these forced removals, such as Womberai Nhende, have provided testimony detailing the torture they endured.

• Despite claiming legitimacy as Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader, Mwonzora did not even contest the 2023 elections and has failed to maintain a credible political following.

• Labour Party Funding Allegations: His spokesperson, Chengetai Guta, has publicly claimed that Mwonzora’s UK trip was funded by the British Labour Party. However, no official confirmation or evidence has been provided to support this claim.

The Evidence is Now Public

With this full footage now offloaded, there should no longer be any doubt about Mwonzora’s actions in the UK and his broader political behavior in Zimbabwe. His conduct at Premier Inn mirrors the same reckless entitlement and disregard for accountability that has defined his career.

As a commentator suggested, Zimbabwe remains a political film without a director—where self-serving actors continue to hijack the script, and democracy is left without leadership. The evidence is now in the public domain, and it is up to the people, both in Zimbabwe and abroad, to judge Mwonzora’s true character for themselves.

Mnangagwa Imposes ZimSec Exam Fee Charges In USD

By Zheng Tong | At a time when many believed that Zimbabwe’s new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZIG), had stabilized, parents have been dealt a shocking blow—schools are effectively blocking ZIG payments for ZIMSEC examination fees, demanding US dollars instead.

A recently issued newsletter from First Choice Private School confirms that while ZIMSEC will allow payments in ZIG between March 24 and 27, 2025, First Choice has set its own deadline for payments on March 21, 2025—three days before ZIMSEC’s designated ZIG payment window.

This means parents who rely on ZIG have no choice but to source USD to pay the fees, which are set at $24 per subject for Ordinary Level and $48 per subject for Advanced Level, with additional practical fees of up to $60 for science subjects.

Parents Left Frustrated

Many parents had chosen ZIMSEC over the Cambridge syllabus to avoid the high costs associated with foreign currency payments. However, the refusal to accept ZIG effectively removes that cost-saving advantage.

“Where are we supposed to get USD at such short notice?” one parent lamented. “We work and get paid in ZIG, yet schools refuse to accept it for exam fees. It’s unfair.”

Some parents speculate that schools might be collecting USD from parents and later submitting ZIG to ZIMSEC, taking advantage of potential currency fluctuations for financial gain.

Government Silence and Economic Struggles

The controversy comes amid President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 agenda, which promises economic stability and growth. However, the inability of schools to confidently accept ZIG suggests a lack of trust in the government’s own currency.

As inflation fears persist, parents are calling on education authorities to intervene and allow fair payment options. With deadlines rapidly approaching, families are left scrambling for a solution—another stark reminder of the challenges of Zimbabwe’s currency policies.

Mnangagwa who has been caught on camera brandishing US dollar notes was still comment over the development at the time of writing.

Parents Shocked as ZIMSEC Exam Fees Must Be Paid in USD

At a time when many believed that Zimbabwe’s new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZIG), had stabilized, parents have been dealt a shocking blow—schools are effectively blocking ZIG payments for ZIMSEC examination fees, demanding US dollars instead.

Alvarez’s Disallowed Penalty Sparks Controversy in Champions League Shootout

Sports Correspondent

A contentious decision marred the Champions League last-16 shootout between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, as Julian Alvarez’s successful penalty kick was ruled out.

Alvarez, Atletico’s second penalty taker, slipped while taking his shot but still managed to power the ball past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibault Courtois.

However, a VAR review deemed the goal invalid, citing that Alvarez had touched the ball with both feet as he fell.

The decision, which took one minute and eight seconds to be made, has sparked debate over whether Alvarez had indeed broken the rules.

The incident has added to the controversy surrounding VAR decisions in high-stakes matches.

Alarm As Cholera Kills 8 In Mash Central

By A Correspondent

Cholera has resurfaced in Mashonaland Central Province, with 340 confirmed cases across six out of eight districts.

The outbreak has raised serious concerns, particularly due to the presence of illegal miners along the Mazowe River, whose activities are believed to be contaminating the water supply and exposing thousands to the disease.

Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, the Minister of Health and Child Care, along with Ministry officials, visited Matope Clinic in Mt Darwin, where three cholera patients are receiving treatment at the designated treatment center. The purpose of the visit is to assess the situation on the ground and to put in place strategies to curb the disease’s spread.

Reports indicate that 68 cases have been verified, and the death toll stands at eight, leading to a case fatality rate of 2.4%.

About Passengers’ Safety

Overloading buses to the point where passengers are standing is becoming an increasing safety hazard. While it may be a common practice, this situation poses serious risks to passengers and needs to be addressed by authorities.

One of the main dangers of overcrowded buses is the excessive weight that is placed on the vehicle.

When a bus is overloaded, it becomes harder for the driver to maintain control, especially when navigating sharp turns or sudden stops. In the event the driver is forced to apply the emergency brake, passengers who are standing are at risk of falling and sustaining injuries due to the lack of support.

Moreover, standing passengers are more vulnerable to accidents in the event of sudden maneuvers.

They lack the security of a seat belt or a steady handrail, making them more likely to be thrown off balance and potentially hurt in an accident. The possibility of injury only increases when buses are traveling at high speeds or during congested traffic conditions.

The safety of passengers should always be a priority, and overloading buses compromises this fundamental principle. Passengers deserve a safe and secure journey, and it is crucial for bus operators and regulatory authorities to enforce strict guidelines on vehicle capacity to prevent overloading.

To mitigate these risks, authorities should consider increasing inspections of public transportation systems and impose fines for overloading violations. Moreover, bus companies must adhere to regulated passenger limits and ensure that all safety protocols are followed to protect the well-being of those traveling.

In conclusion, the practice of overloading buses is not only illegal but extremely dangerous. It is essential for both passengers and authorities to recognize the risks involved and work together to prioritize safety in public transport.

Geza Effect: Mnangagwa’s Administration Removes Vendors From Streets In Fear Of Protests

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwean government has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for local authorities to remove illegal vendors, particularly those operating at night, from undesignated spaces across cities and towns.

This crackdown, set to be enforced with the aid of law enforcement agencies, has ignited a heated debate.

While the government justifies the move as a necessary measure for public health and safety, the deeper issue behind the proliferation of informal markets remains the country’s soaring unemployment rate.

The question now is whether these severe actions will truly revive the nation’s struggling economy, or if they will stoke further unrest.

Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, expressed concern over what he described as “serious health, safety, and security concerns” related to the rise in unregulated markets.

He claimed that these unregulated spaces were not only disrupting registered businesses but were also creating unsanitary conditions that could lead to diseases such as cholera and typhoid. “The mushrooming of unregulated marketplaces has disrupted legally registered businesses,” Garwe remarked, adding that the expansion of the informal sector was fostering “unfair competition” and increasing “unsanitary conditions.”

Despite these claims, Garwe’s comments fail to address the root cause of the issue—the country’s severe unemployment crisis. With the formal economy failing to provide enough job opportunities, many Zimbabweans, especially the youth, have turned to street vending as their only means of survival. These vendors are not criminals; they are citizens who have been left with no alternative in a deteriorating economy. It’s not merely a question of public health—it’s about the economic desperation that forces people to seek any means of livelihood.

What’s even more telling is the backdrop of fear and insecurity within President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

The government’s decision to crack down on street vendors is widely seen as a direct response to rising tensions and growing dissent among the population.

War veteran Blessed Geza, in particular, has vowed to mobilize protests, threatening to organize public demonstrations against the regime.

This move by the Mnangagwa regime is seen as an effort to stave off potential unrest.

The authorities seem increasingly aware that their grip on power is slipping, and Geza’s vow to stir protests underscores their growing fear of a popular uprising.

As the government pushes forward with its plans, the question remains whether these measures will quell the discontent or fuel further opposition.

The actions against vendors may be a short-term attempt to restore order, but the root causes of the unrest—economic hardship and lack of opportunity—remain deeply entrenched.

THE RISE OF THE ALLIANCE OF SAHEL STATES:A NEW ERA IN WEST AFRICAN GEOPOLITICS

The Sahel region, long plagued by instability, terrorism, and economic marginalization, has witnessed a transformative shift with the emergence of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

The long-awaited solution to Africans sitting on mineral wealth, yet called poor nations per happiness indexes in the world narrative, is changing in the AES.

Comprising Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso—three nations governed by military-led regimes following a people’s inspired coups between 2020 and 2023—the AES represents a bold challenge to the status quo in West Africa.

Its formal establishment in January 2025, building on a 2023 mutual defense pact, marks a decisive break from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), underscoring deepening disillusionment with the bloc’s perceived alignment with Western interests and inadequate response to regional crises.

This realignment signals a redefinition of sovereignty, security, and economic autonomy in a region grappling with existential threats.

Distressfully, for how long can the sovereign states who claim to have gained political independence from colonial dominion in Africa continue to be abused through neo-colonial elitist puppets in government?

Context:
Crisis, Coups, and the Birth of the AES-

The AES emerged against a backdrop of escalating jihadist violence, weak governance, and public frustration with foreign intervention.
Mali (2020, 2021),
Burkina Faso (2022), and Niger (2023) experienced military takeovers that ousted governments accused of failing to protect citizens and overly reliant on former colonial power France.

ECOWAS, which had long positioned itself as a guardian of democratic norms, responded with sanctions and ultimatums, further alienating the juntas.

By 2023, the trio solidified a mutual defense pact, vowing collective resistance to external pressure and jihadist threats.

This evolved into the AES in 2025, framed as a pragmatic alliance prioritizing sovereignty and grassroots security over institutional diplomacy.

ECOWAS Under Scrutiny:
A Crisis of Legitimacy-

The AES’s withdrawal from ECOWAS has exposed systemic flaws within the 50-year-old bloc:

  1. Security Failures:
Despite decades of peacekeeping missions, ECOWAS struggled to curb cross-border terrorism, with groups like ISIS-GS and Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam gaining ground.
The bloc’s reliance on external partners like France—whose counterterrorism operations grew increasingly unpopular—eroded local trust.
  2. Democratic Double Standards:
While ECOWAS condemned the Sahel coups, critics highlighted its muted response to unconstitutional third-term extensions by leaders in Côte d’Ivoire (2020) and Guinea (2021).
This inconsistency fueled perceptions of politicized governance.
  3. Economic Stagnation: ECOWAS’s long-delayed plans for a common currency (the Eco) and limited intraregional trade (just 15% of total trade) underscored its inability to advance economic integration.

The CFA franc, pegged to the euro and overseen by France, remained a symbol of enduring colonial-era economic ties.

Reflectively, the ECOWAS should not deviate from its healthy original mandate and constitute itself into a puppetry neo-colonial elitist boardroom.
Instead, it should stay true to its original objectives to serve the broad interests of Africans.

Even voices within ECOWAS, like Ghanaian President John Mahama, acknowledged a “ruptured trust” requiring urgent repair.

The AES Vision: Sovereignty, Security, and Solidarity-

Positioning itself as a “bank of hope” for marginalized populations, the AES outlines an ambitious agenda:

• Collective Security:
A 5,000-strong joint force aims to combat terrorism independently, reducing reliance on foreign troops (e.g., France’s withdrawn Operation Barkhane and the EU’s Takuba Task Force).
Early operations in 2024 targeted jihadist strongholds along the Mali-Burkina border, though efficacy remains uneven.

• Economic Decolonization:
Plans to replace the CFA franc with a Sahelian currency by 2027 seek to assert monetary sovereignty.
While details are scarce, the move aligns with broader anti-French sentiment and echoes regional precedents (e.g., Guinea’s 1960 CFA exit).

• Cultural Unity:
Shared language policies (promoting indigenous languages alongside French) and cross-border educational initiatives aim to foster a cohesive Sahelian identity.

Challenges and Geopolitical Implications-
The AES’s rise carries profound risks and opportunities:

  1. Internal Vulnerabilities: Member states rank among the world’s poorest (GDP per capita under $900), with weak institutions and escalating humanitarian crises (35 million Sahelians need aid in 2025).
A common currency without fiscal convergence could destabilize economies.
  2. Regional Fractures: ECOWAS faces fragmentation, losing 65% of its Sahel territory. Border closures and trade disruptions with AES nations threaten millions reliant on cross-border commerce.
  3. Global Power Dynamics:
The AES deepens Russia’s influence via Wagner Group security partnerships, while Western powers scramble to recalibrate engagement.
China, a major infrastructure investor, adopts a pragmatic wait-and-see approach.

Toward a New Regional Order?

The AES embodies a broader rejection of post-colonial hierarchies, demanding agency in security and economic policies.
While its long-term viability is certain, the alliance has compelled ECOWAS to rethink.

Proposals for a “two-tier” ECOWAS, offering associate membership to AES states, and dialogues on shared counterterrorism goals suggest tentative steps toward coexistence.

For the Sahel, the AES’s success hinges on delivering tangible security and economic gains to its populace.

For West Africa, it is a wake-up call:
Regional institutions must evolve to address grassroots aspirations or risk irrelevance.
In this turbulent era, the Sahel’s fate will reverberate far beyond its borders.

Bravo to the Sahelian redemptive transformational leadership. The people of Africa are with you wholeheartedly – being the nucleus of the New Africa.

Horror As Woman Kills Husband With Pot

By A Correspondent

A shocking incident of domestic violence has left a community reeling after a woman fatally struck her husband with a pot during a heated argument.

Tragedy struck in the early hours of March 7 when a marital dispute turned deadly. Sandra Ndoyiwa, 31, allegedly attacked her husband, Nixon Jemedze, 50, with a small black Kango pot, inflicting severe head injuries.

The altercation, which occurred in their Glen View home, was reportedly sparked by accusations of infidelity.

The force of the blows left Nixon with deep cuts to the forehead and the back of his head, ultimately leading to his demise.

Chivayo Boasts of Buying Expensive Car for Personal Cook

By A Correspondent

Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has made headlines once again, this time boasting about his wealth by gifting brand new vehicles to his cook and personal helpers. Over the weekend, Chivayo proudly shared the news on social media, revealing that he had bought them new Mercedes-Benz cars.

“I gifted my cook and helpers with brand new Mercedes-Benz gifts,” Chivayo wrote, showcasing his generosity. He continued, highlighting the contributions of his staff, saying, “✔️Kubva Kune Vanowacha Magemenzi ✔️Vanomhanya nechikafu PaSowe ✔️Security Yavo Pamasowe ✔️NeUmwe Welogistics.”

Chivayo’s lavish display of wealth comes at a time when he remains a highly controversial figure in Zimbabwe. The businessman, known for his ties to Zanu PF, is accused of looting state funds, with critics alleging that he took advantage of his proximity to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. His extravagant gifts to his staff seem to further fuel the perception that Chivayo’s wealth is built on questionable practices.

While Chivayo’s actions have sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his generosity and others condemning the ostentatious display of wealth amidst ongoing economic struggles, he continues to assert his position as a prominent figure in both the business world and political circles.

Mnangagwa Regime Targets Critics As Chivhu Councillor Is Arrested For Cyber Bullying

The Mnangagwa regime has intensified its onslaught against dissent by arresting and prosecuting perceived enemies of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his ruling ZANU PF political party.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers on Wednesday 12 March 2025 arrested and detained Ishmael Maukazuva, the Councillor for Ward 12 in Chivhu in Mashonaland East province, whom they accused of cyber-bullying and harassment.

ZRP officers accused Maukazuva of contravening the Data Protection Act, when he allegedly forwarded on a residents’ WhatsApp group, a video footage showing a woman allegedly criticising President Mnangagwa for reportedly mismanaging the economy and also passing on some insulting message against the ZANU PF political party leader.

Maukazuva, who is represented by Paidamoyo Saurombe of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, was detained overnight at a police station in Chivhu and was expected to appear at Chivhu Magistrates Court on Thursday 13 March 2025.

Maukazuva becomes the latest person to be arrested and charged on charges related to insulting President Mnangagwa among several people, who have been targeted by Zimbabwean authorities, who of late have intensified a clampdown against criticism of the country’s leader.

Furore As Masvingo City Council Municipal Police Officers Torment Vendors

By A Correspondent

There is chaos in the city of Masvingo as municipal police officers from the city council have been accused of tormenting street vendors.

The crackdown comes as part of a broader government directive for local authorities to clear vendors from the streets within 48 hours.

The government has justified this drastic move, blaming vendors for disrupting normal business operations in the Central Business District (CBD).

However, many believe the decision is rooted in political concerns, particularly with the growing possibility of widespread protests.

Political analysts suggest that the government, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is fearful of the growing unrest after war veteran Blessed Geza’s recent declaration that Mnangagwa must step down.

Geza vowed, “If Mnangagwa doesn’t resign, the people will take to the streets in protest,” fueling fears within the administration of an impending popular uprising.

Vendors, who rely on their street businesses for survival, expressed their deep frustration with the government’s harsh stance. One vendor, visibly upset, shared, “This is too much. We have no jobs, no opportunities. Vending is the only way we can feed our families. How are we supposed to survive now?” Another vendor added, “The council doesn’t understand that we’re not criminals; we are just trying to make a living in a failing economy.”

While the government claims the measure is necessary for maintaining order and hygiene, the move has only intensified feelings of injustice among the vendors. As the crackdown intensifies, the city of Masvingo, once calm and quiet, now finds itself on the edge of a simmering conflict, as both political tensions and economic desperation continue to rise.

Chaos As Government Calls For Immediate Removal Of Vendors From Streets

Black Market Resurfaces As Shops Reject ZiG

By Business Reporter-The black market has resurfaced following the refusal of the ZiG by many retailers owing to its continued devaluation.

Introduced in April last year, ZiG was meant to stabilise the economy and curb inflation.

However, it rapidly lost value within two weeks of its launch, raising concerns about the government’s failure to implement sound monetary policies.

Despite this, authorities mandated businesses to accept ZiG, even as the government itself continued to require foreign currency for essential services such as fuel and passport fees.

Zimbabwe’s economic troubles are deeply rooted in years of policy mismanagement, corruption, and lack of investor confidence.

The country’s history of monetary instability dates back to the early 2000s, culminating in the infamous hyperinflation crisis of 2008, when inflation reached an estimated 89.7 sextillion percent (Hanke, 2008).

During this period, the Zimbabwean dollar became worthless, forcing the government to abandon it in favour of a multi-currency system dominated by the US dollar.

However, in recent years, authorities have attempted to reintroduce a local currency, first with the RTGS dollar in 2019 and now with ZiG.

These efforts have largely failed due to weak economic fundamentals, a lack of public confidence, and an absence of credible policies to support the currency.

The government’s insistence on using ZiG while continuing to demand foreign currency for critical services has further eroded trust in the financial system.

The rejection of ZiG by businesses has had severe consequences, with many shops shutting down as they struggle to restock goods.

Retailers rely on foreign currency to import products, but with customers hesitant to use ZiG and black-market exchange rates soaring, businesses face insurmountable losses.

In response to the growing crisis, RBZ Governor John Mushayavanhu released a statement on Wednesday, 12 March, clarifying that only banks participating in the interbank market are authorised to set exchange rates.

He warned that no other businesses or entities should establish their own rates, stating:

“The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has taken note of the confusion regarding the exchange rate determination for pricing of goods and services following the pronouncement of the Monetary Policy Statement (MPS) on 6 February 2025. It is important to highlight that the country is operating under a Floating Exchange Rate system where the exchange rate is determined in the interbank market for foreign exchange under the Willing-Buyer Willing-Seller (WBWS) arrangement.”

Mushayavanhu also reiterated that banks are free to sell foreign currency acquired from the RBZ at rates that align with international standards.

However, the reality on the ground suggests that the formal banking sector is struggling to meet the foreign currency demands of businesses, forcing many to turn to the parallel market for survival.

The re-emergence of the black market and shop closures highlight the ongoing failure of the government to implement sustainable economic policies.

Instead of addressing the root causes of currency instability—such as low production, excessive money printing, and lack of investor confidence—the authorities continue to rely on short-term measures that only deepen the crisis.

For Zimbabwe’s economy to recover, there is an urgent need for comprehensive economic reforms, including:

  1. Restoring confidence in the financial system – The government must demonstrate fiscal discipline and ensure that any local currency introduced is backed by strong economic fundamentals.
  2. Liberalising the foreign exchange market – Businesses should have unrestricted access to foreign currency at competitive rates rather than being forced to rely on an inefficient and manipulated interbank system.
  3. Encouraging investment and production – A shift towards export-led growth and industrial revival is essential to stabilise the currency and reduce reliance on imports.

Until these structural issues are addressed, Zimbabwe is likely to remain trapped in a cycle of economic instability, with businesses and ordinary citizens bearing the brunt of policy failures.

ZiG Sinks Economy As More Shops Close

By  Business Reporter-The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) was forced to issue a public relations statement on Wednesday after reports emerged of a resurgent black market for foreign currency.

Welshman CCC vs Tshabangu: High Court Showdown Today

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Harare – The legal battle between Sengezo Tshabangu and Welshman Ncube’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) faction reaches a critical stage today as the High Court hears two cases that could determine his political future.

Tshabangu, who has been at the center of a leadership dispute within the opposition party, is challenging his expulsion from CCC, seeking a court ruling to declare it null and void. Additionally, he is fighting to block his recall from the Senate, a move that could significantly impact his political standing.

The cases are set to be heard by Judge President at 10 AM today, with both parties expected to present their arguments in what promises to be a high-stakes courtroom battle.

Tshabangu’s legal fight comes amid growing tensions within CCC, with his factional stance and recalls of key opposition MPs sparking controversy. The court’s ruling could have far-reaching implications for the party’s internal power struggles and Zimbabwe’s opposition politics at large.

More updates to follow as the case unfolds.

Thousands Jobless As Trump Cuts $522 Million Aid To Zimbabwe

By Munacho Gwamanda-Thousands of workers in Zimbabwe’s non-governmental and civil society sectors have lost their jobs following a major funding cut by the Donald Trump administration.

The most affected areas include HIV programming, the creative industry, and humanitarian assistance.

The United States government has significantly scaled back its global aid efforts, slashing 83% of the U.S.

Agency for International Development (USAID) programs worldwide. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that after a six-week review of USAID operations, approximately 5,200 projects had been discontinued.

Among the hardest-hit initiatives are those in Zimbabwe, where USAID previously funded key projects worth a total of$522 million.

Of that, $388 million was allocated to ongoing programs—now abruptly terminated.

These figures account only for USAID-funded initiatives, excluding indirect support through organizations like the World Food Programme.

USAID has been a major contributor to international aid, particularly in Zimbabwe, where it provided crucial support for HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria programs.

The agency had allocated over $90 million for HIV-related programs, including technical, financial, and material support, as well as wages for essential health workers.

Programs specifically designed to reduce new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women—valued at $53.2 million—have been shut down, alongside a $30.1 million initiative supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Manicaland and Masvingo provinces.

An additional $17.4 million dedicated to child welfare services has also been discontinued.

USAID’s $25.7 million commitment to Zimbabwe’s malaria strategy, including the Zimbabwe Assistance Programme in Malaria (ZAPIM), has been scrapped, as has $2.6 million for malaria research.

Similarly, maternal, neonatal, and child health projects in five provinces—worth $16.5 million—have been halted, along with a $29 million TB prevention and treatment initiative that included support for health workers.

Beyond health and humanitarian programs, the funding cuts have dealt a blow to governance and civic engagement initiatives.

USAID had earmarked $18.99 million to promote citizen participation in governance, $4.91 million for constitutional reform advocacy, and $12 million for youth campaigns on good governance—all of which have now been canceled.

A $5 million budget for supporting torture victims has also been eliminated.

Media-related projects have not been spared. USAID’s $8 million “New Narratives for Accountability” initiative and $7 million in funding for media organizations aimed at enhancing press freedom and accountability have been scrapped.

The abrupt termination of these programs has left thousands of Zimbabweans jobless and stripped vulnerable communities of crucial support.

Many health workers, community mobilizers, and civil society activists are now uncertain about their future as the ripple effects of the funding cuts continue to unfold.

Observers warn that the decision will significantly impact Zimbabwe’s fight against infectious diseases, weaken governance structures, and reduce humanitarian assistance at a time when the country is already grappling with economic challenges.

With USAID’s withdrawal, the search for alternative funding sources has become urgent, but for now, the country faces a major setback in its development and humanitarian efforts.

Bushiri Faces Jail In South Africa

South Africa-The South African government has welcomed a ruling by Malawian courts ordering the extradition of self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary Bushiri, to face trial in South Africa.

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi confirmed the development, emphasising the importance of international legal cooperation in combating transnational crime.

“This decision reaffirms judicial independence, international cooperation, and public trust in the South African and Malawian legal institutions,” Kubayi stated. “It reinforces the principle that no one is above the law and underscores the importance of accountability, transparency, and adherence to legal frameworks in both South Africa and Malawi.”

The Bushiris had appeared before two South African courts in 2020, facing an array of criminal charges, including fraud, money laundering, rape, and contraventions of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, the Banking Act, the Civil Aviation Act, and the Immigration Act.

They were granted bail but fled South Africa under mysterious circumstances.

Their escape, reportedly aided by high-level political connections, raised serious concerns about the complicity of state officials in shielding corrupt religious leaders.

South Africa subsequently submitted an extradition request to Malawi, which the courts have now upheld.

The Department of Justice, working with INTERPOL, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and the South African Police Service (SAPS), is now preparing for the Bushiris’ return.

However, Kubayi revealed that the couple intends to appeal the ruling, a move the South African government will strongly oppose.

“If they do not appeal, the Department of Justice will await formal notification from Malawi’s Central Authority. Once received, INTERPOL and SAPS will coordinate the transfer arrangements,” Kubayi explained.

Bushiri is one of several self-styled prophets in Africa who have amassed enormous wealth and influence under the guise of religious leadership while engaging in fraudulent activities.

His Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church, headquartered in South Africa, attracted thousands of desperate followers, many of whom fell victim to elaborate scams disguised as miracle healings and prosperity teachings.

Similarly, Zimbabwean preacher Uebert Angel, another controversial figure in the Pentecostal movement, has faced allegations of fraud, money laundering, and political manipulation.

A close associate of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Angel was implicated in an Al Jazeera investigation exposing gold smuggling operations linked to high-level government corruption.

Despite overwhelming evidence, Angel continues to operate freely, shielded by Zimbabwe’s ruling elites.

Both Bushiri and Angel exemplify a troubling trend where so-called ‘men of God’ use their religious platforms to launder money, manipulate followers, and evade prosecution through political connections.

In Bushiri’s case, his close ties with Malawian political figures have long delayed his extradition, raising questions about the integrity of the justice system.

Across Africa, self-proclaimed prophets have leveraged their influence to align with ruling elites, securing immunity from legal repercussions.

Malawian officials reportedly granted Bushiri VIP protection upon his arrival in the country, while Angel enjoys diplomatic privileges as Zimbabwe’s ambassador-at-large.

Such alliances make it exceedingly difficult to hold these figures accountable.

Even as courts issue rulings against them, political interference continues to obstruct justice.

South Africa’s determination to extradite Bushiri marks a crucial step in dismantling this cycle of impunity.

The Bushiri case will test Malawi’s judicial independence and commitment to upholding the rule of law.

While the extradition ruling is a victory for justice, the appeal process and potential political manoeuvring could delay the process further.

Mnangagwa Minister’s Son In US$1 Million Theft Scandal

Batsirai Matiza & ED

By Crime and Courts Reporter-Batsirai Matiza, son of the late Transport Minister Joel Biggie Matiza, has been charged with the theft of US$1 million after allegedly seizing control of a tree nursery project owned by the Green Rebirth Trust—an initiative dedicated to environmental preservation and sustainable agriculture.

Initially welcomed as a goodwill ambassador by the trust, Matiza later attempted to claim ownership of the project, which is valued at US$1 million.

Matiza, along with Zanu PF Information Director Farai Marapira, has also been implicated in the abduction of environmental activist and farmer Nadia Vingai Mabvirakure, a trustee of the Green Rebirth Trust.

Instead of arresting the accused, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) detained Mabvirakure after she exposed the two ruling party elites.

As tensions over the project escalated, Mabvirakure was reportedly abducted last Wednesday evening from her home in Chitungwiza.

Her disappearance was only confirmed by the police on Tuesday, sparking outrage and raising suspicions of state complicity.

In a bizarre twist, police later claimed that Mabvirakure was not missing but under arrest, without explaining where she had been taken from or why she was hospitalized.

This follows a familiar pattern in Zimbabwe, where activists are abducted, tortured, and later framed in fabricated criminal cases.

Her family had filed a missing person report at Makoni Police Station (RRB Number 6346710) before the police abruptly changed their narrative.

Reports suggest that a CID officer from Murewa, identified as Shenje, was seen near Mabvirakure’s home on the day she disappeared.

That evening, as she stepped outside to lock her gate, she was forcibly taken by unidentified men.

Court filings reveal that the Green Rebirth Trust had lodged an urgent High Court application against Matiza and his associates, Tichabaiwa Gwadu and Familia Muvhunwa, to prevent them from unlawfully seizing the tree nursery at Chemapango Secondary School in Murewa district.

The trust argues that Matiza was merely a donor with no legal claim to the project.

Despite this, Matiza allegedly sent Gwadu and Muvhunwa to forcibly take over the project on February 27, falsely claiming to represent the “Matiza Trust”—an entity the Green Rebirth Trust asserts does not exist.

Marapira, in a defensive statement, admitted to introducing Matiza to Mabvirakure but denied involvement in her abduction.

However, social media users, including @DrAfricanPride, have directly accused him of orchestrating her disappearance.

In what appears to be an effort to shield Matiza and Marapira, the ZRP released a statement accusing Mabvirakure of theft, claiming she misappropriated US$15,200 meant for the project—an accusation that conveniently aligns with Matiza’s interests.

However, the trust maintains that Matiza had no operational involvement and was merely one of many donors.

Mabvirakure’s ordeal mirrors past incidents where activists critical of Zanu PF have been abducted, tortured, and later falsely charged.

The 2020 abduction of opposition figures Joanna Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri, and Netsai Marova remains a glaring example of the state’s use of enforced disappearances to silence dissent.

In an emotional conversation with The Gleaner, Malvia shared the tragic details of Cocoa Tea’s final moments. “I received a call this morning saying that he had been transferred from the facility to the hospital, which was just five minutes away. Mwaruwari Wins US$600,000 FIFA Award

FIFA Orders Ngezi Platinum to Pay Benjani Mwaruwari US$600,000 for Unfair Dismissal

Harare – Former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari has won a US$600,000 compensation case against Ngezi Platinum Stars after FIFA ruled that his dismissal from the club two years ago was unfair.

Mwaruwari, who lasted just 13 matches as head coach before being dismissed, took his case to FIFA’s dispute resolution tribunal, which has now ruled in his favor. The global football governing body has since instructed Ngezi Platinum to pay the former Manchester City striker the full amount.

massive win… Benjani Mwaruwari

This ruling follows a similar US$200,000 award granted last year to Bongani Mafu, who was Mwaruwari’s assistant at Ngezi Platinum. However, Mafu has yet to receive his payout as the club lodged an appeal against FIFA’s decision.

“The club appealed against the award. We will wait to see what comes off their appeal,” Mafu said on Wednesday.

Mwaruwari Remains Tight-Lipped

When contacted for comment on the FIFA ruling, Mwaruwari refused to be drawn into the matter.

“I have no comment,” he said in a polite but firm tone.

Ngezi Platinum Silent Amid Legal Battles

Ngezi Platinum, which is believed to have engaged a South African law firm to contest Mafu’s payout, could not be reached for comment on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, FIFA has officially communicated its ruling to Ngezi Platinum via its online portal, leaving the club with little room to maneuver in Mwaruwari’s case.

With the club still fighting Mafu’s compensation, all eyes are now on how they will respond to FIFA’s latest directive. Will they comply or drag the case into another legal battle?

ZANU PF Director Distances Himself from Nadia Mabvirakare Controversy

By A Correspondent | Harare – Amid growing speculation surrounding the disappearance and resurfacing of environmentalist Vongai Nadia Mabvirakare, ZANU PF Director of Information Farai Marapira has responded, strongly dismissing any involvement in the matter.

Marapira, who has been linked to the unfolding saga through various allegations, expressed shock and frustration over being drawn into the controversy. He insisted that he merely assisted Mabvirakare in the past but was not involved in any of her business dealings or legal disputes.

“Well, I’m just as perturbed as to why I’m being involved in issues to do with this Nadia,” Marapira stated. “It’s just a simple case, on my part, of actually regretting being of assistance to someone who came begging for help. I was not even part of whatever the project was all about.”

He further revealed that he had released chat records of his conversations with Mabvirakare to various individuals on social media, in an attempt to clear his name. “From my conversations, it’s clear that I was not involved in any way with this,” he emphasized.

Mabvirakare, who went missing on March 5 after stepping outside her Chitungwiza home, was found alive five days later in a field in Mutare. Social media and activist groups suggested that her disappearance was linked to a business and political dispute involving powerful individuals. However, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) dismissed claims of an abduction, stating that she is a suspect in a criminal case involving USD 15,200.

Marapira ridiculed the accusations implicating him, highlighting the impossibility of being in two places at once: “She’s abducted in my absence, and somehow I’m supposed to be in two countries at the same time?” He further dismissed the speculation as mere “side shows”, insisting that national priorities should take precedence.

“The focus remains the people of Zimbabwe. The focus remains the economy. The focus remains ensuring the President’s vision is supported and complimented until 2030,” he said.

Marapira also stated that the ZRP statement on the case was sufficient, urging people to “allow the police to finish their investigations.” He maintained that the police, not political figures, were the right authority to determine what truly transpired.

With Mabvirakare still under police guard in hospital, the case continues to raise questions. While ZRP insists she is under investigation for alleged fraud, others argue that her disappearance was politically motivated. For now, Zimbabweans remain divided—awaiting further revelations as the inquiry unfolds.

Malawi Court Orders Bushiri’s Deportation Soon After Uebert Angel Threatened To Overthrow African Presidents Who Don’t Worship Maynard Manyowa’s Boss Prophet

Malawi High Court Orders Deportation of Shepherd Bushiri As Uebert Angel’s Threats Backfire Badly

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Lilongwe, Malawi / Johannesburg, South Africa – March 12, 2025.

When Uebert Angel threatened to overthrow presidents who do not worship”respect” his church-mentee Shepherd Bushiri in February, he thought the continent’s heads of states would fear him.

Malawi High Court has ordered the deportation of controversial preacher Shepherd Bushiri—and his wife, Mary Bushiri—back to South Africa. The decision, welcomed by the South African government, comes as a major setback for Uebert Angel, whose incendiary threats have inadvertently worsened the fugitive status of his colleague.

Extradition Ruling and Its Implications

In 2020, Shepherd and Mary Bushiri faced several serious criminal charges in South African courts, including rape, violations of bail conditions, and breaches of multiple financial, aviation, and immigration laws. Granted bail pending trial, the pair fled the country under mysterious circumstances and were subsequently located in Malawi. Following an extradition request from South Africa, the Malawi High Court’s ruling now paves the way for their return to face trial.

A comment from the two prophet’s publicist and mentor Maynard Manyowa was not fruitful at the time of printing

In an official statement, the South African government declared:

“SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENT WELCOMES THE RULING IN THE SHEPHERD BUSHIRI EXTRADITION”

Government representatives emphasized the ruling’s importance in upholding judicial independence and international legal cooperation. They added:

“We have been informed that the pair intends to appeal the ruling. The South African government will oppose the appeal. The Department will await the outcome of the appeal process if they proceed.”

Furthermore, transfer arrangements will be coordinated by INTERPOL in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS). Officials assured that:

“Upon receipt, INTERPOL, in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS), will coordinate the arrangements and logistics for the transfer. The associated costs will be borne by the State.”

Backfired Threats: Uebert Angel’s Statements and Their Fallout

Contrary to reports of broader regional tension, the current developments are rooted solely in the fallout from provocative threats made by Uebert Angel. At a high-profile event held on February 24, 2025, Angel—known for his controversial remarks and questionable credentials—warned that only African leaders who honor Shepherd Bushiri would remain in power. His statements, intended to bolster his own influence, have instead cast his “spiritual son” into an even deeper state of fugitive status.

Angel’s bold assertions have backfired dramatically. Rather than forcing presidents to fear him, his threats have led to intensified legal scrutiny and a harsher reality for Bushiri, who now faces extradition on multiple serious charges. In a twist of irony, Angel himself has recently publicly expressed deep personal fears, stating that he would be killed if he attempted to return to the United Kingdom—a fate he believes awaits him due to controversies dating back to the Gold Mafia documentary investigation aired in 2023.

Accountability

The Malawi High Court’s decision and the ensuing diplomatic cooperation underscore the unwavering commitment of both South Africa and Malawi to uphold the rule of law, regardless of the influence of incendiary rhetoric. While Uebert Angel’s threats were aimed at forcing presidents to fear him and Bushiri, the outcome has instead highlighted that no individual, no matter how controversial, is above legal accountability.

Prioritize Passengers’ Safety…

Politicians Threaten Residents Leaders For Exposing Illegal Gold Mining Activities In Masvingo

By A Correspondent

Masvingo – For the past few months, residents’ leaders in Masvingo have been the target of escalating threats after exposing the illegal gold mining activities around the city’s water reservoirs at Tagert Kopje hills. The situation has grown increasingly tense as powerful politicians, allegedly involved in the illegal mining, have reportedly targeted the leaders of the Masvingo United Residents and Rate Payers Alliance (MURRA) in a bid to silence their efforts.

MURRA Director, Anoziva Muguti, recently revealed that he has been receiving anonymous threats from illegal gold panners who warned of harm to him and his staff. This follows MURRA’s legal battle against the illegal mining operations, which has included reviving a High Court case seeking an interdict to stop the mining activities threatening both the city’s water supply and the safety of its residents.

“We will not be intimidated. We will continue to fight for justice and accountability, no matter the cost,” Muguti stated firmly.

Muguti’s resolve comes as a response to the ongoing illegal mining activities, which he insists pose a severe risk to the water tanks situated at Tagert Kopje hills. The tanks store over a million cubic liters of water for the city, and the illegal miners are operating dangerously close to these vital resources.

“We will not back down. The people of Masvingo deserve nothing less than clean water and a safe environment,” Muguti asserted.

Residents have raised alarms about the illegal mining’s environmental impact. There are growing concerns that the hazardous chemicals used, such as cyanide, could leak into the water supply, jeopardizing public health. Additionally, fears have emerged that the mining activity beneath the tanks could lead to a catastrophic collapse of the reservoirs, threatening the lives of residents in nearby suburbs, including Majange, Hillside, and Tagert Kopje.

Despite the threats against him, Muguti remains determined to continue MURRA’s fight to stop the illegal mining. He stressed that they are not alone in their efforts.

“We are not alone in this fight. There are countless others who have suffered at the hands of these illegal mining operations. Together, we demand justice and accountability,” Muguti emphasized.

Residents have also reported that the blasting of rocks in the area has caused significant cracks in their homes, heightening fears that the structures could eventually collapse as well.

MURRA has yet to report the threats to the police, as they are still investigating the individuals behind the intimidation. However, Muguti revealed that they have gathered the names of several influential politicians and their families involved in the illegal mining activities. These names, however, will not be disclosed until confirmed through legal proceedings.

“We are taking our time to ensure the right people are held accountable. We will reveal names only once the courts have positively identified them,” Muguti concluded.
